Had lunch here today, which was delicious (kale salad), but the reason for the review is the great staff. I moved from the sunny outside tables to the cool ones inside and only about 30 minutes later realized I didn't move my purse with me. Panic! But the staff found it and put it away until I asked about it. The restaurant was very busy but the young man at the register helped me and calmed me down, and really saved me a lot of hassle. The young woman who took our order was sweet, too. So thank you for a great experience, in addition to the yummy lunch.

Burger Heaven. Get here super early or you will be standing in a long line full of tourists! I've had the bacon cheeseburger and the vegetarian burger. Both are outstanding. Garlic fries are phenomenal. Chocolate milkshakes are the bomb. You really cannot go wrong here. Plenty of seating inside and outside or even at the bar where you can watch the cooks make your food.

Located at the ferry building. This parking to get to this place will be difficult. Take the embarcadero Bart stop. This place is a gem. Ordered the Spicy Chicken sandwich and a bowl of chili. The spicy chicken sandwich is noice. The breading for the chicken is almost like panko. One you bite into it, crispy breading with the spicy mayo and the sweet Cole slaw is awesome. The kick of the jalapeño will give you tears of Joy. A great sandwich. The chili was next. THIS IS A HEARTY CHILI. The red beans with that ground beef and spices. What's amazing that my first bite was 20 minutes later. Still hot. This is a must stop before a giants game, SON!

We had lunch there. . Great onion rings & the sweet potatoes fries were awesome. Got the 7.95 hamburger. . Added the ranch dressing to it. It was so so good. . Would love to know how the ranch dressing is made, it had a great kick. I will definitely be back. .

I went a few days ago with a client and work colleagues and sat outside - it was a beautiful day out. Didn't even care about the line. So worth the wait. I had the cobb salad. The salad was really big, but really really good. I liked it so much, I ran down and got another one to go today. I'll definitely be back again as there are like 6 other things on the menu that sound sooooo good. Cool vibe... Nice atmosphere. Good spot to people watch too. Yummm!

On one lucky instance, there were only two couples waiting. Taking the opportunity given, Bun and I jumped in line for our first Gott's Roadside moment. I could remember it like it was yesterday. Thinking fast since there wasn't much of a line, Bun ordered the hamburger and going nontraditional, I got the ahi tuna burger. Going wild on the sides, we also got garlic fries and chili cheese fries. Bun's allergy to dairy would have made the chili cheese less fries boring so we added the garlic fries for balance. These balancing acts lead to over ordering at times, but it was perfect this time. Bun loves those fries! Under ahi tuna burger on the menu, it says 5 oz. I could easily tear through a 5 oz burger like a charging rhino through a wall of toilet paper. Sheesh, I could have swallowed a 5 oz. burger when I was a baby. When I picked up the ahi tuna burger, it was a lot larger than expected. My eyes are probably used the tuna seen ala sushi bars. Chewing into the nearly inch thick of tuna, the borderline optical illusion they call a tuna burger was stunningly simple yet delicious. The crunch of the slaw with the tuna gelled together for a nice burger. Nearing the end, the tuna burger was a little leaky from the wasabi mayo dressing and the slaw, but it was a solid tuna burger. Munching on most of the fries, Bun gave me the last bite of her burger to try since she was getting full. Told you she loves those fries! In that last bite, I can surmise this. Everything is very simple and fresh. The special sauce isn't complicated tasting, yet colors the burger nicely. Some cheese would have made that last bite exponentially better, alas...her allergies. The best way to describe Gott's is consistency. The burgers are good, not great. The fries are good, not great. Indeed, no way do they suck. Everything is fresh and you can definitely taste it in each bite. I will definitely be back for more...barring the length of the line.

We ended up at the Ferry Building at the end of our engagement shoot, and because it was windy/cold (and I was freezing to death with no jacket & in heels that were killing my feet), we decided not to go any further and just eat at Gott's since it's one of the few places that were still open and had tables available around 7pm on a Sunday. I was quite shocked by the prices on the menu...SOOOOO expensive for just burgers, fries, and shakes! Regardless, we didn't have many options and ordered our food: - sweet potato fries: omg these are TO-DIE-FOR!!!!! Definitely one of the best sweet potato fries I've yet had in NorCal... - vanilla milkshake: these are super delicious also - very milky & not too frozen! You can totally drink it through a straw but it doesn't taste watery at all...unlike so many other milkshakes I've had before...either too watery/runny or too hard/frozen! - Western Bacon Blue Ring burger: my fiance's burger - I'm not a blue cheese fan so I didn't like it much but he enjoyed it just fine - BBQ chicken burger: I liked my burger except it got really messy as I was eating it so I didn't really like that... This place definitely was better than I had expected and I would totally go back for their milkshake and sweet potato fries ANY time I'm back at the Ferry Building in the future!

Gott's is a great place for a delicious and quick meal. I love their location and their food is really tasty. My favorite items on the menu are the ahi burger, the sweet potato fries, and the California chicken sandwich. I'm not a big hamburger person, so I really like how many non-beef items they have on the menu. They also have a lot of good beers and wine to choose from, AND they have frozen yogurt. Everything is seasoned and cooked perfectly. It's a fun and casual place to get a meal in a pretty location.

Don't come to Gott's if you want reliability. After repeated visits, I've come to the conclusion that it can't handle the crowds. At its best, Gott's at the Ferry Building is soft eggy buns with nice handmade burgers, big-shouldered tasty cheese, pickles, and a hint of secret sauce paired with an ice cold beer enjoyed while people-watching in the seabreeze. At its worst - as it was today - Gott's is reminiscent of a Chuck-E-Cheese, where one has to fend off hyperactive kids while waiting too long for a burger that's managed to get cold, and with one bite reveals that it's mostly gristle. Oh, and garlic fries that swim in oil, limp and sad little potato fishies.

Don't really understand the low average rating of San Francisco's Gott's! I've tried both Napa Valley locations, and both were great. This location is no different! My colleague and I grabbed a drink and a snack while we waited for our friends coming in from BART. They only have one choice for cider - Bite Hard Cider - but the one they have is alright. The sweet potato fries were so good! They were cut so thin and fried just the right amount. One order of sweet potato fries is enough for two people to share.

We went to Gott's to get a decent meal around 9pm on a weekday. The food we got would have probably been worth 3 stars at best. The reason I give it one star is because the guy running cash register told us they "ran out of ice cream" for the evening, but actually they had just put it all up for the night an hour before closing. That's a bad way to do business and a terrible show of character.

Outstanding burgers! The ingredients were very fresh and the order came out exactly to specifications. I tend to eat more than average, but the portions were plenty... Plus it wasn't too heavy so no food coma at work! My only complaint (not enough to keep me from going back and ordering them again tho) is that their sweet potato fries weren't as crispy as I'd hoped. Highly recommend this spot!

When my dad was in town a few months ago, he saw what looked like a good burger joint called Gott's at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. For whatever reason, I never find myself up in that area of the city, but Erica and I finally managed to head up there to eat at Gott's. Gott's serves a bunch of different burgers with varying cheese options, bacon, avocado, mushrooms, etc. On top of that, they also serve fish tacos, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and salads. To go along with those items they have fries, onion rings, soup, and chili. They also serve shakes, beers, wine, and soft drinks. A cheeseburger with fries and a soda costs about $13. When I went on a Saturday, it was pretty busy and we waited about 10 minutes for our food. No big deal. I picked up the food from the counter and returned to our table. At first glance, all of the toppings were sticking out of the wrapper in presentation-mode and weren't evenly distributed for eating-mode. A little disappointed with that. I quickly readjusted all of the toppings and took a few bites. It was pretty good! Their secret sauce was a little runny but it was tasty. I didn't realize that their burgers don't come with fries. At $8, I assumed (wrongly). Luckily I stole some of Erica's fries (which apparently came with her $6 chicken tenders meal). The fries were pretty normal, but I had no problem with them. I also got a cup of chili to taste, and quite liked it! It was just the right amount of spicy. A minor nitpick about water cups: I got water instead of soda this time, and I feel like when you get water anywhere they give you a smaller cup to distinguish between soft drinks. Gott's water cup was tiny. Like airplane cup tiny. I had to refill it quite often. It's almost like they assume I'm drinking significantly less than someone who ordered a soda. Gott's was a good joint and I'd be happy to visit again, but the next time I'm up at the Ferry Building, I want to try 4505 Meats. I hear they have a killer burger.

I think this place is just average. Came here with a friend and we both wanted something light. We both got something off the special menu = the tofu sandwich. It was pretty good, but a bit small to what we were expecting. I didn't think it was worth $9.99.

Great spot at the Ferry Building. Spacious and service is efficient and fairly fast. Went there with my family last Saturday (7/19/14) and was really looking forward to trying your Ahi Burger. I have to say it was a disappointment. The bun wasn't toasted, it was cold, the Ahi which was great quality could have been more well prepared. It wasn't seared to the point where it is crusty on the outside and rare on the inside. It seemed like it was just quickly seared so it was kind of this piece of tuna with no texture. The wasabi mayo with the slaw was good but the absence of the toasted bun and the crunchiness of the tuna just made the sandwich this big sloppy one textured thing. I think with all this great ingredients this Ahi Burger could have been a killer if it was well executed. Can you please work on that? I really want to come back and have the perfect ahi burger. Thanks!

The most amazing ahi tuna burger ever!!! I guess I should try the other yummy stuff they have here huh? But the ahi taste like steak cooked medium rare with the soft tasty bun and slaw that compliments it. So perfect. So yummy. I so want some now as I am yelping this. arhhhh

This is one of my favorite places for lunch and have been going here for the past four years. It is quite pricey, but the food is really very good. My favorite is the ahi tuna burger. It is almost like sushi in a sandwich form (but with the sushi rice substituted with egg-y bread). It is the only sandwich I eat here in California. It is just sooo sooo soooo good especially with the sweet potato fries. I should point out, though, that I think they should revert back to their original sweet potato fries. They are now thinner and though still good, the original one is still better texture-wise. It is always busy here with the FiDi crowd and tourists from around 11:45 to 1:30 so I always try to go before that time or after. However, if I were hungry around the peak time, I would call in my order then walk to the back area of the Ferry Building and find a seat in one of the benches. Ahi tuna burger + sweet potato fries + magnificent view of the Bay Bridge, ferries and Treasure Island = amazing lunch.

Left the exploratorium and was hungry! Came by this place before going on the muni. Was totally craving along burgers and fries and ended up sharing an oreo milk shake and chili cheese fries. Totally worth it. Price is a lil more than what I have paid in the past in other places, but a craving is a craving. WHY STOP IT!? Didn't want to eat too much before going to bed. Convenient spot since most thing seemed closed by 9pm. The wait for food was not that long either.

Gott's got no taste! To make a short story even shorter, I went there for lunch. I'm not a big meat eater, so I opted for the turkey version of the burger, with added avocado. My friend ordered a burger and onion rings to share. My turkey burger was void of any flavor. Thank goodness I added the avocado! The bun was dry and blah. The onion rings were clearly onion-y, with a decent batter, but they were super greasy. My friend said his burger was okay, not the best ever, especially for the money. Plus, it was "pretty small". Make that both burgers were pretty small. I needed to eat a sandwich within an hour after getting back to the office. Moral of the story - just because there is a long line doesn't mean it is to die for.

I want to start off by saying that the customer service here is fantastic, seriously such a nice and friendly staff here! Unfortunately their food was not as good as their service. I ordered the Vietnamese chicken salad and it was tasty but SO spicy. Like unbearably spicy, and I'm a huge fan/constant consumer of spicy foods. But as I said the staff was so nice and when I went up to the counter in burning pain searching for some ice-y relief they offered me a free glass of milk to help with the spiciness and struck up conversation. I unfortunately had some serious stomach pain as a result later though. Also I ordered a glass of their cabernet blend, and granted it was their cheapest glass but it tasted pretty bad, kind of salty and stale potentially corked. However the location is nice, and the place was really spacious and clean and the view of the pier was beautiful. I'd probably still go back but for a beer and perhaps a burger if I was in the area.

After a full day of exploring San Francisco by BART, MUNI and Cable Cars, we did not want to go to an expensive restaurant. Plus it was really late and we were too lazy to go too far. So we walked across the street from our hotel to the Ferry Building and plopped down for a great burger and beer!! Clean, easy, fast and good!

Gott's Roadside is a fun spot. A classic American diner, with lots of seating, space to move around, and a large outside seating area to soak in that vitamin D! We stopped by for some mid afternoon snacks, that time of day where you're starting to get hungry, but it's probably not good idea because dinner's around the corner. Needless to say, I enjoyed my sweet potato fries.

Well, parking can be hell, but if you are in this area, Gott's is not that bad!!! My experience with Gott's was great. Here's what I got (no pun intended): I decided to get their Veggie burger wrapped in lettuce. Sometimes I have an urge for vegetarian food. Was very good and fresh with their secret sauce. We also got an order of Garlic fries and when I see that the fries are soaked in garlic sauce (green), it makes my mouth water. Loved it. Food was good. Price... not bad, slightly over what I would expect to pay. outside seating was nice. Staff was friendly and informative. Service... my veggie burger took 15 mins.

The first time I came across this place the line was too long, so I went to the back to get some soft serve ice cream instead. Their dutch chocolate is delicious. If I had written a review based solely on their ice cream, it would probably be 5 stars. However.... The second time I came here was late in the afternoon where there was no line. My boyfriend and I decided to try their garlic fries. There were two servers behind the registers and two people in front of us and it still took us about 15 minutes to place our orders. The people working here seem like they care more about gossiping with each other and taking their sweet time than getting through the line as efficiently as possible. There was also a girl employee who walked around the place texting on her phone. The fries did not take long to come out, but they were mediocre. They tasted like they were simply soaked in garlic infused olive oil and got cold really fast. I would much rather have the ones from Super Duper. Afterwards, we headed to the back to get some more of the dutch chocolate soft serve I was so happily raving about earlier. The ice cream is still good. My issue is with the huge group of girls behind the tiny counter that appeared to work there but were definitely NOT working. The same girl who was walking around texting is now sitting behind the counter on a crate with her phone and having an expletive-filled conversation with the cashier while I stood in front of the register, cash in hand, waiting for it to be accepted. Gott's, your ice cream may be delicious, but your employees are terrible.

It's been four years since my last review of this burgerteria, and Taylor's has since turned to Gott's due to legal arguments between warring wine-country clans. But my impression remains the same...pretty good but pricey for all the self-inflated hoopla. I still see the big red neon block letters that demand that I "EAT" (see photo). But Gott's would be more aptly named Gotcha (by the B***s) if you know what I mean. Take my wife...please! (ba-bump-bump) You can probably tell I'm not one of their staunchest fans. Don't get me wrong. I think the Bacon Cheeseburger I ordered was tasty, greasy goodness with obviously fresh meat, American cheese, tomato slices, lettuce and a secret sauce that reminds me a bit of the concoction Jack-in-the-Box used to make in their back room (see photo). Placed snugly in some butcher paper, it was a carnivore's prerogative but at $8.99, it just seemed overpriced considering the more satisfying Double-Double at In-n-Out is about five bucks. Maybe four bucks is chump change to you, but I don't understand what the premium pricing is getting me. The metal bar stools aren't terribly comfortable and the sit-down tables are crowded between the communal tables, so you can almost be assured of a spilt Diet Coke or two...in a green-friendly cup, of course. Luckily, Jamie W. and I were preoccupied with the $5.99 order of Mini-Corn Dogs over Fries, a self-proclaimed kid-friendly item that provides a half-dozen little chicken dogs deep fried in batter (see photo). It was honestly the most culinarily interesting part of the dining experience there. Gotcha! FOOD - 3 stars...still middling for the extravagant, Ferry Building-gauging prices AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars....EAT! SERVICE - 3 stars...I'm just a red-light buzzer to them TOTAL - 3 stars...Gott's should be rechristened Gotcha!...am I really the first one to think of that one?
