Still good beer and good food. But this places classes it up a bit. The bartender that was working the one time I have been to this location was super nice. The location might create a more friendly work environment than the Divis location. Still love Fly Bar.

Loving the happy hour menu. Zubrowska vodka with fresh apple juice and pesto pizza is my go-to order. Happy hour ends early at 6pm.

I had a bday party here on a Friday night, and the manager (Eric) and the entire staff were extremely helpful and accommodating! Even with some of my loud, drunken-friends, Fly bar tolerated us and helped make it an amazing bday experience! :-)

I am a big fan of Fly Bar out on DIvi (it was one of the first bars I ever went to in SF) and when I heard that Fly would be coming to my neighborhood, I was both excited and worried. Could Fly Bar duplicate its magic over here? What about the old one? Would the fact that it would be taking over Brick's old space help them or hurt them? My worries left upon setting foot inside. They brought the kick back fun vibe with them! I won't lie my first impression was that not much had changed from Brick's old interior. But I don't consider this a bad thing because I like the dark wood look, the exposed brick wall, etc. However, all the mirror mosaics reflecting off all those lights gave the place a feel that reminded me of a drag queen who's a little too done for the day time (she brought out the boa, the tiara and her pumps and its a Wednesday afternoon). Once again, I don't consider these little quirks a bad thing. There's plenty of seating around the bar and if there's a choice, seating on the left is a slightly cushier option. Plenty of tables are scattered around. The large television is centrally located for viewing at the bar. Shuffleboard is located in a room to the right and just past the bathrooms is a video games room perfect for the old school Nintendo gamer in us all. The service at the bar has been fantastic each time I've come in so far (although one guy over here reminds me of a wrong sounding muppet). I'm pleased to report that the biggest difference between Fly on Divi and Fly out over here is that Fly appears to have a full liquor license over here. The beer options are pleasing (though the absence of Speakeasy brewery's offerings was a little disappointing) and affordable. The menu appears to be identical to the other Fly Bar's (pizza, appetizers, salads) and I believe they will be starting their famous and popular happy hours over here soon ($3 drafts, $5 sake drinks, 1/2 off pizzas). Worth a peek for sure. Welcome to the neighborhood, Fly Bar!

Totally legit bar in lovely SF. I thought it was the perfect spot to grab a drink in passing on a random Monday night of inebriation. My favorite drinking buddy and I give it two thumbs up after a req from one of the bartenders there who were actually met at another spot (apparently one has to have two sources of income to make a living in Frisco, shocker), which turned out to be a great idea. I highly suggest an offering from their "For Professionals Only" section on the menu...a Great White and a shot of Fernet for $8 - a tipsy-inducing bargain if I've ever seen one. Cheers!

Came here for a quick drink before dinner at Le Colonial. We were lucky enough that it was still happy hour, meaning 4$ beers on tap and 5$ cocktails. The margarita was meh (tasted industrial), the bourbon sour was too sour. The atmosphere is pretty neat, and I like the bar itself. But don't go looking for amazing cocktails.

Don't sit by the bathrooms. There was a horrible smell coming from them tonight. It made my friend stop eating his food; otherwise, the place is nice. My salad was tasty.

Best happy hour in the City! Great Sangria and all the food was fantastic. Great energy and interesting art work. It's near Great American so it's perfie for a stop in. I admit we ended up here on accident but I'm glad we did. I'd for sure go back . I mean the place is....great!

I have nothing bad to say and their grilled cheese sandwiches are amazing.

Been coming to this Fly Bar for over a year on the weekends during Happy Hour. I don't think I've ever been a regular at a Bar before this. I look forward to walking in, seeing Alan and ordering some drinks and Pizza. I came in yesterday only to find out that Alan no longer works there and now I'm seeing some ill stated reviews on here with his description. I have never had any bad service from him and at worst I would have to wait a few minutes to get a drink only because he was waiting tables, serving drinks, finalizing bills etc... running the entire restaurant all by himself in a packed house. Maybe Fly Bar should be looking at the entire picture before making unwise decisions with local favorites.

Came in here on a Saturday night after seeing a movie at the AMC Van Ness. Shared the hummus plate and a Ham & Brie sandwich. Both were amazing! To go with our food selections- we enjoyed a couple of cocktails. I really like the laid back atmosphere and neighborhood feel of Fly Bar. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and very reasonable! I will definitely frequent this new find! Anddd I will have to check out the happy hour I hear so much about!

The place is infested with mice! I went there on 11/4/2010 and late at night saw several mice scurrying across the floor.

Fly Bar, I love you. You are my new neighborhood go to. I am loyal to you and you alone, but please make the following changes: 1. Put the mac n cheese back on the menu. 2. Get some real wine glasses. We live in California. We drink wine. Please don't serve wine in juice cups.

$3 draft beers for happy hour- 12:30pm to 6:30 pm, i believe. GREAT atmosphere, french fries are delish, waiters/bartenders are down to earth. good service, nice decor... i went here 3 times out of my 4 day vacation while staying at the hotel right next door. had a brie & black forest ham sandwich and side salad the first night and was tempted to order a second plate of it! go here, its a great place.

great happy hour right by our hotel - we were staying at the hotel carlton. Half off pizza and cheap beers make a great start to the night!

The beer is awesome, the food is great, the staff SUPER cool, but the food takes a while to show up. Sometimes hard to just get a quick bite, but if you're there to hang out for a while, one of the best places in the 'hood to hang out.

  • Tony E.

helps when the place is a couple blocks walking distance from my house. the place has great food, and good beer on tap. the pizzas that they offer are very delicious. the ambiance of the place is also very warming and calm. it is a place that you defiantley go with a friend of two. only con about the fly is that the service is not the greatest. the food doesnt take long, however the servers do. mainly because every time I go I notice only two servers working, while a full house can entitle 50+ people.

  • Gabriel F.

Slowest wait staff I have ever seen. Comes by, cleans table, walks off..no drink order. back in 15, leaves menus, takes off....still no drink order. back in 10, takes drink order doesn't bother to ask about food. another 10, brings drinks back starts to walk off when I damn near yelled at the guy about a food order. took order, back in 20 with food. in the meantime my ketttle rocks was more like rocks. all ice, minimal booze which means mostly water within 2 minutes and gone in 5. bad pouring technique...too bad cuz the og fly is kinda okay before the crowds take it over.

Good service, OK food. But three words capture why I like this Fly more than the one on Divisadero. Full. Liquor. License. Thanks, Brick!

Fly Bar has great pizza. We ordered a "Book 'em Dan-o", (that's a Hawaiian pizza) and immediately ordered another! Yummy!. Nice selection of beer. It's got room and style, too.

Happened to be in the neighborhood and tried this place last Saturday. Was quite impressed. Friendly service (somewhat rare in S.F.) and very good food. Had the chicken wings and BLT salad and it was obvious the chef takes pride in her/his work. And a healthy pour on my drink as well! Will definitely go out of my way next time in the City to come to Fly.

Good happy hour with a long beer list and tasty pizzas. I wouldn't go there after happy hour because it's swarming with people. But for happy hour, I'm there!

Very hip bar in San Francisco. I came here for a birthday celebration on a Friday night and lively atmosphere. I did not get to try any food, but liked the atmosphere enough to give it 4 stars. Nice place to hangout with friends, service was good and attentive.

So wow! So excited that this place has opened up in our neighborhood. The drinks are a great price an they have some amazing deals! A shot and a microbrew for only $8. The pizzas are great. I can't wait till they open up fully! Also am waiting for the game table to come in. WHO WANTS TO PLAY SOME SHUFFLE BOARD?? Thanks so much for opening up here.

The 'new' Fly Bar was converted from the old Brick restaurant by the owners. The original Fly Bar, which is still open to my knowledge, is located on Divisadero near Fulton in what is now referred to as NOPA. Not long ago, it was considered the Western Addition. Though the new Fly Bar sports the same signage as the old one, there are some important differences between the two, as well as from the old Brick restaurant. The new Fly offers a full bar just like Brick did. The old Fly is just beer, wine, and sake. The new Fly also offers bar food, wisely pared down from the more upscale full restaurant menu of the old Brick restaurant. The new Fly also sports one of the best happy hours around. The food is pretty good, especially for bar food. And most of the time, the service is at least passable. For some reason, all of the female servers we've gotten have all been friendly and efficient. But at least one of the male bartenders has always seemingly thrown me some attitude, pretending not to see me waiting for a drink or just being plain reluctant to take our order. Ironically, I am usually a **good** tipper at bars, but when I get service like that, I act accordingly. Buddy, you just cost your bar two stars.

Love this place! We go here for happy hour and the deals cannot be beat. $3 draft beers (good beer, too), and half-priced pizzas! You can share, but when they are tasty and only $5 each, get two and take the rest home with you. Always nice service, too.

Last night this place rocked my world. Great beer selection(tap,can,bottle,12oz,24oz !) at great prices and great food and even better prices. Came here after the world series, walked in sat at the bar no prob, bartender was super friendly and gave off a good vibe even though he was really busy, banged out some spinach dip BAM a southwestern pizza BAM had a tall boy and a high life BOOM. Everything was quick the music was AMAZING (think it was a tribe called quest pandora station) got the check and thought there had been a mix up because it was so cheap! But it was no mix up it was just an awesome neighborhood spot to eat or drink or both. Sign me up for every other day please, one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had had in a while. Thanks Fly

Great signature drinks ($5 during happy hour, $7 normally) and good food (half price pizzas during happy hour) - good atmosphere, definitely would go back.

They have really good pizza here. A must try if you venture out to Fly Bar. Decided to come here for lunch before another attempt at a pub crawl, settled on two pizzas. Since it was so long ago, I don't quite remember which ones we ordered. I just know that the first pizza we order was good (i'm thinking chicken) but the second was even better (something with meat in it). The cocktails are $5 a pop during happy hour. Again, I don't know what I ordered...something orangey? or maybe grapefruit. Regardless, give their cocktails a try. A lot of them sound bizarre, but rest assured they are tasty! Also, since happy hour at most places do not start until 4/5pm this would be a great alternative, since I believe it starts at 11am. If you have nothing better to do with your life after class or running errands, stop by for early happy hour. Let's face it, waiting until 4pm for happy hour is just pure torture.

Straightforward menu, nothing exotic, good prices. Good when you're in the mood for something simple and a few drinks. $3 Tecate 16oz cans were a good deal....

Great Happy Hour Spot. I came here with a friend on a Friday. $1 off beer and 1/2 off pizzas. A great deal. They have a great beer selection. Their draft Back Black IPA from 21st Amendment won't disappoint. This place gets packed fast, so I recommend getting here early.

    (5)
  • Ashley H.

they have a pretty impressive selection of sandwiches and lunch specials. its a pretty nice size place with a full bar and tv in case you want to catch a game. the pizzas are only $6 from noon til 6:30pm.

  • Alexandra D.

We went here shortly after they opened this new location and it was good. We had some pretty delicious pizza and had no problem seating several friends around a big table. Service was friendly and I liked it there. Seems like a good re-use of the old Brick Restaurant interior.

    (4)
  • Tara S.

This is my new favorite place! Way better then brick, which is what used to be there. The food is awesome and they have a great happy hour half price pizza and $3 drafts everyday 4-7pm. I can't wait to go back!

  • Kurt M.

I loved the food here. I had the southwestern pizza my first visit, and the nachos (ridiculously huge) the second. Both were excellent. Even cooler, the pool table was available with ease both times. Great place.

I'm into it. Good happy hour and tasty pizza.

nice place, lots of beautiful babies there, my group was large and very rowdy, nobody seemed to mind cept for the two hipsters on a dutch date next to us. Great atmosphere, drinks aren't too highly priced, i would surmise the food is good but all we did was drink. definatly worth a second visit.

This place (1085 Sutter Street) reminded me of what I learned when I took a course called "How To Operate A Restaurant/Bar 101". 1. If you have an establishment where customers can seat themselves anywhere, you should probably have a sign saying exactly that. This would prevent me or others from wandering around the joint for ten minutes like lost poodles wondering if those empty tables were reserved for less sophisticated people who can't read signs in the first place. 2. If it's a Friday night (I meant, especially on a Friday night) you may wanna think about having more than one server on duty, that is, if the place has more than say, twenty people? Did I mention that it was a Friday night? Or, if you can't do that then I can just sit there for fifteen minutes twiddling my thumbs wondering if you even printed out menus that customers can actually browse. 3. And you don't have to go to restaurant school to learn this but just an FYI, the appetizers come before the main dishes. Twenty minutes after our pizzas came, I asked our server (the only server) if the spinach & artichoke dip that we ordered was ever coming. Her answer? "Oh, I didn't know you ordered it because I don't have a pencil and paper to write those kinds of things down!" The only reason that prevented me from giving this place no stars is the food and the atmosphere. Salad on a pizza? Never heard of it but worth trying, and it was so good. And for all the shortcomings of the staff, at least they were nice, courteous, and welcoming. So, if you like good food and unbelievably terrible service, go to Fly Bar!

  • Veronica S.

What can one say when, at the last minutes of happy hour, I taste I beer that I never have tried before and it tastes like rubbing alcohol, and instead of the waitress not doing anything, she takes the horrid beer away and replaces it with one that is it's diametric opposite at Happy Hour price? I say it's fan-goddamn-tastic, that's what I say. I was skeptical of the place at first because of the fact that it used to be Brick, and was pretty pricey and snooty. But not only is the Happy Hour prices on beers great, I suggest you also indulge in one of their mini-pizzas from Pizza Heaven and at $4 a pop, it's Heaven to your drunken stupid wallet, too! Oh and their artichoke dip is pretty good, it just needs to come in a bigger bowl (for more dip, of course!).

  • Freddy F.

Been my old faithful for a few years always have a good selection of beer and great bar food for the price. Friendly efficient staff can't go wrong with this place

  • KC K.

This place totally rocks! They have one of the best happy hours in the city that I have ever been to. 1/2 off pizzas, 5 cocktails, 3 draft beers = Happy Hour Heaven . We ordered 2 rounds of drinks, 2 pizzas and 1 order of chips and salsa and the total bill only came out to $43 bucks. The only thing that's holding me back from giving them 5 stars was their mmmm...meat pizza was a bit too salty. I will definitely hit this spot up again.

  • Kevin F.

So disappointing. The place's previous incarnation "Brick" was more high end w/ overpriced small plates (an equation that ultimately lead to failure). "Fly" on Sutter, is cheap (that is the draw!) So if you want to save a little dough while experiencing THE WORST SERVICE IN ALL OF SAN FRANCISO. Then Bon appetite! In all fairness it's only the male bartender (black guy /w dreads) who is the problem. He clearly feels as though he is above the job of "server" and cops the most bitter resentful attitude I have ever experienced. But he doesn't stop there! He literally refused to pour my beer - while pouring one for my friend, claiming he was "moving as fast as he could" (with a chuckle - he apparently finds himself very entertaining) Complete Asshole.

Really nice bar. Good selection of drinks, not too noisy, large tables to sit at. Food is good too. The place looks nice, fancy but not over the top. Recommended.

Came here with a birthday party of about 12 tonight - they were accommodating of our large party and gladly got us all seating. The server was super friendly. I had a glass of wine ($8, reasonable) and we shared many appetizers, including the mini pizzas...very tasty! I plan on going back again soon

I love the food at this place, between 4-7pm half price pizza and beer on tap. The best deal in town, fries are to die for ,real fries , pizzas are awsome. The decor very comfortable, servers very pleasant and polite, work very hard specially when they are under staffed. They never complain, service with a smile. I bring my friends and family so they can experience this yummy taste to their palet. I try to eat there as least twice a week .

Awesome and surprising. Looks kinda divey but pizza was amazing and the place had a fun (tho low key) vibe. A definite must-come-back-to place.

  • Justin D.

Been here a couple times since the owners switched it up from Brick. The food continues to impress, but with a cheaper price tag. The happy hour drinks and pizzas are priced well and taste great. I'll be back again and again.

Big shout out to Beth our server.. You rock, girl! Seriously, one of the most pleasant and efficient server's that I have encountered. We've been to Fly a few times, and always been impressed. The interior is comfy chic, love the artwork on the walls, and most importantly, love the food. This last visit we started with the artichoke spinach dip served with a baguette, Beth suggested that it really kicks it up a notch if you add some chips and salsa to the mix, so she just brought some out to us. She was so right! The artichoke dip mixed with the salsa and chips was friggin awesome. I am salivating now just thinking about it. Went on and had the grilled cheese, partner had the foghorn leghorn sandwich, we each had fries with ours (natch..) Love those french fries, perfectly cooked, and seasoned. Our friend had the carmel blue pizza, he said it was fantastic! What more could you ask for? perfect comfort food in a great setting, with fantastic service, and budget friendly price point! I say five stars all the way. Seriously, check the place out if your in the hood. Oh, and did I mention they have Happy Hour even on Sundays til 6:30? My kind of joint.

Went there for the first time last night. Their pizza with caramelized onion, Gorgonzola cheese, and roasted garlic made me weak in the knees. Drink specials were pretty good, too.

Love it. Surprisingly they still have the best six hour seven day half price gourmet pizza happy hour though I haven't seen it on their board in some time.

  • Linda P.

That picture of the nachos does not lie. It's one large mound of crispy, salty goodness with more goodness of beans, cheese, guacamole, salsa, and if you get chicken, the pieces are underneath all this goodness. This suffices as a meal for three people, and make sure you wash down this meal with Fly Bar's cocktails. As for the pizza...it was alright. It could have been more crispy and tasty. I enjoyed my salty dogs (the cocktail, of course), and was comfortable with the vibe of this new joint. However, my date and I did have an odd waiter, who likes to stare and was rudely concerned with his tip at the end of his shift. He also put our leftover pizza on the bar instead of our table, so we forgot to grab it on our way out. Oh well. The happy hour special is a great deal, which is half off the pizzas and several of the cocktails. I'll be back, hoping to be served well, and not stared at.

  • Amit M.

I've been to the one on divisadero a few times, but a ride home in a cab made me realize there was a second one. I think I like this one a little bit better, mostly because the space is just so big. Decent beers on tap, the food is just as good, maybe even better than the other one. Shuffleboard is always a plus. I think the only way it could be better would be if it had a better beer selection on tap.

I've been coming to Fly Bar for the past year and a half being that it's right down the street from my recording studio. And have turned more than a few friends on to it. The food has always been great as well as the bartenders. I even stayed faithful after the untimely departures of firstly the bartender named Derek then followed by the cook Nate. I know them by name because they were engaging, caring and took pride in what they served. Nate used to always come and talk to Myself and my Producer and ask how the food was and showed a great intrest in the partakers of his preparations. He was a self professed "Foodie" so I was a little disappointed when I found out that he was no longer there. I continued coming because Alan the guy with the dreadlocks picked right up where Nate and Derek left off. Every time we'd come in he'd acknowledge us and ask "What's it gonna be today guys" and always had great drink suggestions. He actually was the 1st person who turned us onto Fernet (Thank you again for that) So I was a little taken aback to find that he was recently "Let go" WTF Fly Bar? I've read a few of the reviews posted here in regards to him and none of them sound like the guy who waited on me. Reading them I couldn't help but envision a bunch of snobby, uppity, used to being catered to wannbe socialites. Not a good look Fly Bar... Now I'd rather grab a bottle from the liquor store and a burger at Sliders and call it day... For there's no reason to come here anymore. 3 strikes and you're out!

We found this place on our vacation this past week, and this place was the greatest dinner/drinks of the trip. With a happy hour of 1/2 price pizzas and cheep beers, you can't beat it. Finally, we found an AFFORDABLE, cool place to hang out in the city. Sure beats going to the wharf and paying triple for mediocre food. I gotta reccomend the nachos and the pizzas, ecspecially the margarita(sp?) pizza. For a bar, the food was definately better than I could have imagined, for a great price too! And when my wife decided to spill all the drinks on the table(and she was only drinking water), the waitress couldn't have been cooler. Definately give this place a shot

I went here with some coworkers right after work. I'm glad it's so close! It's a pretty space with good drinks.. .their specialty cocktails can get a little pricey. The happy hour pizzas, though, are delicious and a great deal! The shuffle board in the front room is a nice touch. Definitely a nice change from Brick. A great after-work bar!

  • Wes K.

Come here almost every sunday. I always go with a big group of people. The food might take a bit long to get out, but it's because there is usually only one server. They are always happy to see us and the beer gets out very quickly. I've only come on sunday and the specials then are pretty good. Dollar off draft beers (an alright selection, Guinness, Steam, Paulaner, Lagunitas, IPA). Great bottle selection (about 25 quality beers). When I go on sunday in the afternoon, pizza is $5. I always get Jimmy the Greek. Great pizza with lots of olives.

Fly Bar, from the same peeps that own Fly Bar at Divisadero, is opening soon! Video games, 7 dollar cocktails, a lot off different beers to choose from and affordable tasty aperitifs?! Are you still sad that Brick closed? I am not.

  • Tracy C.

This place is like your favorite pair of jeans, reliable. Most of the food is in the "bar food" regime. Very good chicken wings! Their pizzas and pizzettas are fun. Their beer of the month is usually worth trying, it's only $3 any time and any day. This place is typically loud and they have a shuffle board. The only thing that bugs me here is there is no table discipline - so you will walk in with 6 people and see 2 people at the 6-8 top.

    (5)
  • Jackee K.

Seriously, can I have more of their Spinach/Artichoke dip? I could easily live off of it. The Margarita Pizza we ordered was pretty freakin' good too. But seriously, the dip was amazing. Almost as good as California Pizza Kitchen's dip (and that's saying A LOT).

    (4)
  • Christina D.

We ordered a small pitcher of sangria, was enough for 4 small glasses. Was so good that I was wishing we had ordered the large pitcher! We came for the drinks but ordered some food too. I ordered a cheese burger, which was too salty and under cooked, the salad was good though. I would go back for the Sangria but not for the food.

Came here last night before going to see Over the Rhine at The Great American Music Hall. I found this place totally by accident, was with a friend looking for a bite to eat and stumbled upon this place. I LOVED the decor, great casual atmosphere. The happy hour menu ROCKS, everything I've tried there was been really good. I EXTREMELY recommend the baked brie with garlic, if you love cheese (like me!!!!!) and like garlic then you simply can not go wrong there! Also order the Dirty Sidecar! its a perfect pairing!

Four score. And seven years ago: yelp.com/biz/fly-bar-san… For a return: Foghorn Leghorn sandwich with roasted chicken, tomato pesto and guacamole on brioche. Bacon and cheese come standard too. Didn't miss them. It was that good. Pairing guacamole and chicken is a brilliant move. Putting them together on a sandwich is even better. Loved side of greens comes standard. Fries are an alternative. $10 is worth it. Grabbed a table by the window which was a good move for people watching. Overall the vibe is casual and relaxed. Server doubles as bartender. That's quite a talent. Four stars.

This place is pretty cool. It's a bar with bar food, but the kind of bar food that actually qualifies as food (pizzas, sandwiches, salads, etc). Anyways, we came here to meet up with some friends who were visiting from LA. We got a giant round table and enjoyed the cool bottle cap art, mood lighting, and awesome background music, while playing catch up. They were also playing the Lakers game that night (to the entertainment of our LA natives). I think I'd return here, but it is kind of out of the way.

Great easy laid back bar. I actually ordered the drink "The Laid Back" twice. It was nice. I should have ordered it thrice.

We had a severe case of the afternoon munchies and needed something to hold us over until dinner later in the evening. We also were in search of a glass of "cheer," in the form of a margarita. In comes Fly Bar... The restaurant has a nice neighborhood feel to it. We felt like it would be a place that we could picture ourselves coming to after work if we lived in the area. We arrived between 3-4pm and were able to find two seats at the bar. They have an attractive menu, but their nachos offering immediately drew us in. The nachos were fair; not a huge portion, but large enough to take the edge off of the growl of our nagging stomachs. We did note that the chips tasted as if they came out of a Mission store-bought bag. Not awful by any means, but noteworthy. We also ordered a regular margarita and their featured campari margarita. Honestly, I didn't care for either of them. I'm just too spoiled on San Diego's margaritas. Bartender was very friendly and confident. Again, really liked the vibe. Would definitely return again.

was pretty happy. was still looking for a good margarita in SF. the bartender sounded like he knew what to put in. the the margarita wasn't good. learned my lesson to not look for margaritas outside of sd. we ordered the chicken nachos. they were good by non-sd standards. the chips clearly came out of bag. but other than that they were delicious.

Fly Bar rocks my socks. It's reasonably priced, happy hour till 6:30, not one but TWO awesome locations, great food, and strong sangria. What's not to like? I have a personal affinity for the Divisadero location, but the Sutter spot is more convenient to my office, so I've been dropping in lately with my girlies. Me and my pals Tati Z and Ashley M stopped in for dranks and eats and had a grand old time. We killed two pitchers of sangria (strong, cold, cheap) and then nommed on a giant Cobb Salad. I will surely be back, as I cannot say no to a good time with good company that is not harsh on my wallet.

Okay I loved their southwestern pizza and their foghorn leghorn chicken sandwich. Their mini miller light bucket is a pretty sweet deal. I only wish they had an online menu and their ambience wasn't so dark.

Amazing small pizzas. Love the 'shroom pie with pesto. And the funky bbq chicken. Skip the Sangria if you don't like sweet drinks. Saw interesting people. Loved the music and the art. Glad we stayed at the Hotel Carlton next store. And found this next door.

I visited with friends last night. It was my first time there. The service was very slow- the waiter was impatient and gave us the attitude! Food was ok.

Fly bar is awesome. I like coming here on Sundays to watch football and eat hot wings and drink beer. The hot wings are very yummy, meaty, and not too spicy. I've tried many of the food items at Fly including the tuna melt, Jimmy the Greek pizza, Carmel Blue pizza, nachos, and their chips and guacamole. The pizzas are my favorite because they're just right size for a girl like myself to have a few slices to take home or to get a couple and share with friends. The pizzas are only $5.95 all day Sundays and draft beers are $1 off. I've never had any problems with service at Fly, but I've had my card overcharged once and it's happened to my sister and a friend. I'd like to think it was an error. In all instances, it only took a phone call to have the error corrected.

Fly Bar always seems to be the perfect bar/venue for the occasion and it all-to-often is the first place that comes to mind when recommending that perfect place to friends, family and inquiring minds. Every occasion, situation or special night has certain things you're hoping for, and sometimes more importantly, certain things you're hoping to avoid and Fly Bar is right in the sweet spot all the time. A good place to hangout with a group of friends? Fly Bar (even has a huge round-table for larger groups who wanna hang out) A good place to grab a bite with happy hour specials? Fly Bar (seriously the happy hour pizza deal is a ridiculously good deal) A good place to catch the game? Fly Bar (big TV central viewable from every seat in the bar/restaurant) First Date? Fly Bar (intimate 2-person table tops near the windows and shuffleboard!) ...great personable staff, good music, good central location, awesome beers, sangria, phenomenal bathrooms(!) - I feel like I could go on forever. Be careful though, you're going to come to Fly Bar and immediately want to invite more people, so be sure to specify that you're at the Fly Bar on Sutter & Larkin; someone's gonna go to the other one (the wrong one) and wonder why they can't get a cocktail or a shot of Fernet. Bummer dudes!

Great spot for a fun casual night out. Went here with my sister and split a pizza and a salad. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Nice wooden bar and tv's to watch the game.

Alright alright alright, here's that 5th star.... Food? Good. Beer? Good. Service and bartenders? Outstanding. Hell, they even put up with my crusty (We both agreed that's a very fitting description earlier today.), old friend's wise-ass remarks, and we're still welcome there. No pretense, just good fun and good company, any time of day. Nothing like hanging out on a nice afternoon or evening with friends, playing shuffleboard and bickering like 5-year-olds drinking more beer than 5-year olds should be in the first place. Places like this remind me why I like San Francisco. Seriously.

Most friendly bartender I've ever met. When we commented on how friendly he was and he said "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice." Words that stuck with us. Loved the waldorf salad.

So this review will be dedicated to my good friend and newly married woman Liz. S (check out her review) as this was the location of her and Chris' (the Groom) reception. I really, really dig this place. Now granted I can't comment on the cost of the drinks or the cost of the food, but I can say that between the drinks and food that I consumed this past weekend, I really want to come back here and enjoy a full meal. The bartending staff busted ass all night, not once screwing up an order...not pouring weak drinks (I was drinking rum and coke). It's also where I was introduced to the liquor "Fernet" by my other good friend Amber. I didn't really eat much, but I did enjoy their buffalo wings which had a real nice spicy kick to them. Another pleasing aspect to Fly Bar is the layout. The bar dominates most of the center area as the left side of the restaurant / bar is elevated. The lighting, cool artwork, the exposed brick and dark wood-tones also give the space a really laid back feel. They also have a shuffle board!!! I like this place and hope to return.

Took a date here recently and the place was great. Everything I'd hoped for. There are a few more secluded spots if you're out on a date, but plenty of larger table for groups. Atmosphere was really relaxed but had something for everyone. Into sports, sit at the bar and watch the game, trying to relax sit at the back and enjoy the cool art on the walls, want to try a lot of beers and have a good time play shuffle board after a few drinks. HUGE list of beer and plenty of food options if you're really hungry or just want a snack, and all are very reasonably priced. And our waitress was great, very helpful and nice without hovering or asking us if we needed anything every other minute. 4 stars, only because the music got a little louder than I would have preferred as it got later in the day. Other than that I loved it and will definitely be going back.

Swung by on a Monday night. Kinda busy, surprisingly. But service was good. Have a feeling this is a tourist joint. Grabbed a small pitcher of sangria. Tasty, but sweet (not bad since we just had Turkish food before this). Liked the atmosphere.

  • Rachel P.

It was a great find amidst of all the bars in San Francisco. It was very chill and has a cool vibe when you walk in. The food is affordable, not super expensive neither the drinks. I was very satisfied with the food amount and the alcohol content on my Sangria drink.

As "out of townners", this place was our Stamplatz! (Look it up...) The food was reasonable and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. And the staff was very cordial and friendly. And bartender serves a perfectly made "Manhattan" which alone might be worth the trip here. We shall be back

Fly was an incredibly good find! We stayed at the Hotel Carlton right next door and must have gone there several times. Once to eat, a few times for happy hour and a few times for a night cap. They have a small, but exceptional specialty cocktail and beer menu. The food was great too, excellent pizzas. The staff made us feel very welcome, and even made some awesome suggestions for off the beaten path visits. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

  • Helen D.

Tasty salads that feed at least 2 people! Pizzas are good (and prices amazing during happy hour). Interesting drinks. Only downfall, it's so darn loud in here at all times.

    (4)
  • Jess C.

Holy Cow $4 Hoegarden. They have a shuffle board table too!

  • Kris O.

It's more than just pizza and beer here. The space is a lot bigger than the one on Divisadero and back in the day (maybe a year ago) they had a hidden room in the back where you can play video games. Fly Bar boasts a great happy hour $3 drafts and half off pizzas. The bummer is that I wish happy hour was til 7pm, not 6:30pm. They have large tables for big groups, which is always good if you're meeting a bunch of folks for happy hour and it does get pretty lively and crowded. It's also fun, bright, and modern and they also have pretty bottlecap artwork on the wall.

    (4)
  • Halley S.

This is a good happy hour spot. Good deals on drinks and food, nice ambiance, TVs and some big tables for groups. The salads here are king. They are so huge, enough to split with a friend. I got the margherita pizza once, it was not good. But, everything else I have tried here was great and I practically lick the bowls clean whenever I get the taco salad.

  • Ariele M.

Brought my boyfriend here and it was really nice, he enjoyed it. I like this location for groups or just a chill night during sports season because they have the TV's! The service was great and our waitress still gave us the happy hour prices even though happy hour was at the last minute when we got there! She didn't have to, but it was nice to save a few bucks! I really like there mixed drinks and I had two of the Seacliff Blues which had an odd, but satisfyingly refreshing taste. Boyfriend had the Eastern European then the Swearing Sailor, which he enjoyed more than the former. Really yummy spinach & artichoke dip, drooling every time I think of it. Both locations are nice and have different vibes, for me this one is cool if your planning on a night out and want to start with a happy hour type deal!

Happy Hour from 12pm - 630pm everyday! Except Mondays where they open at 5pm. -$5.99 personal pizzas, get the mmmMeat (sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto), ask for red pepper flakes. -$1 off draft beers. Racer 5, Anchor Steam, Hef, Lagunitas, etc.. -Signature mixed drinks for $5. I could be wrong with the prices, but it's more or less like that. Come around 5pm, don't linger in the doorway, just grab an open table and someone will drop off menus. Real chill spot to grab a bite and a few drinks before venturing off for a wild night of shenanigans on Polk St. or wherever the wind might take you. I only come for happy hour and I will continue to do so. Easy parking, just remember to pay your meter, DPT be on it around here; I would know. =|

  • Miyako L.

Pros: - $7 cocktails - Chill environment with plenty of room to sit - The chocolate cookies are surprisingly delish - Cool cocktail waitress Cons: - Cocktails are lacking in skill and flavor - Women's bathroom door doesn't lock (surprise!!) :O - Apparently there's not enough 'eye candy' among the patrons for the boys Overall: Not a bad place to come and hang.

Gotta love when you can randomly plug "happy hour" into yelp and come up with an AMAZING place such as this. Totally worth the walk from the hotel we were staying at, and made me wish we had one of these back home. Great happy hour (duh), some decent draft beers on tap, and delicious personal pizzas a steal for $6.95 during hh. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

  • Kayliegh B.

Best happy hour I ever found in the city. Pizza with a salad on top? Cool bar tenders that sneak off and take a couple shots in the kitchen, fancy interesting cocktails to try. It doesn't have to break the bank to have a good happy hour here folks. I WILL be back :)

Came here with a few coworkers for our friend's send off. Not a bad place. Nice setup. A cool circular bar as you walk in with a bunch of tables throughout. Some big and some small and cozy. So this place is totally setup for a large meeting over drinks or just a 2 peeps having a good talk. Drinks are pretty good. I was a fan of the ginger beer drink they have (don't remember this concoction's name). However I was actually just wishing for regular old ginger beer afterwards. Anyways a pretty good place. A little pricey but it's going for being a little on the classy side I think. Oh yeah and Hendricks stocked! :)

I went there yesterday on a "happy hour date" with my honey to go get a quick beer and bite to eat. Before we walked in, we say the specials for happy hour: $5.95 pizzas!! Score! We went in and service was a little slow. The bartender decided to service other people who sat down after us at the bar, but that was okay. We had a chance to look at the menu. We ordered two pizzas: MMMMM....Meat and the one with artichokes. They both came out on a nice thin crust and full of flavor that appeased my growling stomach. The beer on tap wasn't the best price because I believe we got charged about $15 bucks for two beers, but the price and taste of the pizza made it all better. I would give this place 4 stars if the waitress wasn't so intent on servicing other people first and if the happy hour price on draft was a bit more relative to the other bars in the area. I will go back just to order pizza, but I would probably order it "take-out" and go to my usual bar for better drink prices.

I walked by Fly on the way to dinner and saw that it was a happening spot even at 8pm. I figured it'd be my post-dinner drink location, and it turned out to be just that. Fly is a super chill bar to grab some drinks with friends. They also have regular restaurant seating if you don't want to be seated directly at the bar. The bartenders were attentive and friendly, red wine was uniquely served in an extra-large shot glass-looking type of stemware, the place had an upbeat vibe, and the bathrooms were clean. What more can ya ask for?

This one is AWESOME. So I am not drinking for the next 40 days. I know. But its better. Less people will get hurt. (Actually, more people will likely get hurt- I am clumsy and about as coordinated as a newborn water buffalo.) But going back to my point- I went here yesterday with Jenna F. and DJTINACHRISTINA for dinner and the GIANTS GAME. Omg, this Fly Bar has a TV! OMG, this Fly Bar has french fries! OMG, THIS FLY BAR HAS A FULL BAR! Omg I love this Fly Bar more than I love the other one. And I love the other one a lot. Its an awesome place to go on [those things I still don't go on] dates!

big open setup. happy hour from 12:00-6:30 everyday? can't beat that. ordered the Book 'em Dano pizza. was really good. big chunks of pineapple and shredded ham. wait staff was excellent. checked on us very frequently for refills on drinks. definitely worth a second trip if I'm in the area.

Fly is adjacent to Saha SF, so on Cinco De Mayo, after dinner at Saha, my friends and I walked in here. So a quick review: good music, good ambience, good pizza, wobbly tables, love the drinks menu, good cocktails. I'm not sure if this is the case always, but service is so-so. We had water and a cocktail spilt on us! I know stuff happens, that's why I'm (still) giving it 4 stars. Definitely a place to go back to.

what an amazing happy hour!!! came here last thursday after checking into our hotel (which was right next door). cute little bar with great food, service, and drinks! courtney was amazing and helpful. we got the chick stix as our munchie and ordered a bunch of sidewalk slumbers (trust me have 3 and you'll be good for the rest of the night lol): almost 2 shots of fernet and a great white beer....WHEW this bar is definitely one i would highly recommend for locals and visitors! check it out you'll be glad you did and come during happy hour for $5 pizza and cheap drinks...and remember to try the sidewalk slumber...but remember i warned you! 3 should be the limit! lol

  • Cescilia A.

I've only been to this place a hand full of times but evertime i'm here there is a decent crowd of people. The food is alright and the drinks are just ok. The only reason why this place is getting 4 stars instead of the 3 stars I think an OK bar should get is for 2 reasons, one reason is the restrooms are clean everytime I'm there and fully stocked and the second reason is because there usually is enough room to sit with either a small group friends or a large group of friends.

    (4)
  • Bud L.

I really dig fly bar. Drinks are fairly original and not too expensive, and the bar is huge/square so it's easy to get a drink. Bartenders are nice too. The food is great, especially the pizza and the nachos. You can almost always find a table to sit down at, but I usually find myself in the smaller shuffleboard room, hanging out and making new friends.

This place USED TO be one of our regular 'lazy sunday' spots. The happy hour is still decent, but the Amazing Alan is no longer on staff. Alan was a great bartender and a few of us regulars from around the 'hood would stop in and hang out for a few rounds, and play a bit of shuffleboard while Alan had the game on in the background. Alan single-handedly held things down and gave every customer service with a smile. Fly Bar has lost its soul :( Without that special "something" that set it a part from the other places in the area, it is just another bar. . .

  • Suhitha U.

I like this place! Their happy hour keeps bringing me back, especially because their pizzas are like $6, shareable, and really yummy. Can't say service is the best though, but the ambiance is definitely fun if you're just trying to grab a drink and a bite with a friend!

My fiance came into the city this weekend and were staying at Hotel Carlton. We stopped into Fly Bar during happy hour and were greeted with one of the most adorable bartenders we've ever met! Given the time of day, the bar was not too crowded which gave us some time to speak with her (Courtney). She made us some great drinks, we were very pleased. We live in San Jose and rarely come up to the city. The times we do, we've felt pushed out of the restaurant/bar scene and just have not felt very comfortable. At the Fly Bar, we felt right at home...and made it a point to come back later on that night after dinner. We did not have any food but we saw others and it looked and smelled delicious!

  • Loon E.

Love the happy hour here! Good cheap food and relatively strong drinks. Nice chill ambiance inside the place, but I find that it can get extremely hot inside this space to the point that it gets really uncomfortable. It's fine for me as I'll just go outside, have a smoke and get some fresh air, but I can see where it would really bother some people. Nice, lively place as the night builds on. If they ever got a real AC system in here, this place would be the nuts!

    (4)
  • Tony S.

I let the restaurant know that it was my fiancé's birthday and they greeted us very kindly and even sat us at their nice semi secluded window booth. The interior setting has a relaxing and soothing for a romantic date. Our food was absolutely divine! We each went for the Price Fix option and enjoyed the variety. Our favorite items were the scallop pot stickers (appetizer), halibut (entre') and blueberry-butter crepe's (desert). We will be back!

  • Patrick P.

Came here on a Sunday around 5 pm and definitely enjoyed their happy hour deals. $6 pizzas, $5 appetizers, and $4 drinks (I think). Inside looks kind of eclectic, sort of like your quirky aunt's place, but it works. The BBQ chicken pizza was refreshing- not heavy like how a lot of pizzas can be, and their chicken skewers came with a thai peanut sauce that surprised me (in a good way). I kept eating the sauce to try to figure out what's in it.. I know there's peanut and lime, but I can't figure out what else haha. Anyways, a cool place to stop by for some drinks if you're in the area. Also, they have some sort of shuffleboard game too..

  • Mimi T.

Came here on an early Saturday night..the place almost felt cavernous compared to it's sister location on Divis.. Nevertheless..super nice bartenders..same down to earth menu of snacks including nachos...and a full bar compared to the beer and wine only choices on Divis..

Pizza here is so good, taste even better in my mouth knowing it's only $5.95 during Happy Hour. The boyfriend and I ordered the Southwestern pizza and it was ozzing with pepperjack cheese and deliciousness. We came on a Monday night around 5:30 and there were only a few tables taken. Very chill atmosphere and the bartenders are very friendly. We sat right next to the bar enjoying our pizza, drinks, and some football game.

  • Dan C.

Visited with some friends since it is within close walking distance to the Regency Ballroom. Proximity = + Service was lacking. There were 7 of us at the table and our server would get the drink orders for about 4 out of the 7 and then she would dash off like we were overwhelming her. So when she returned with the order, she had another order waiting. Seemed to be her methodology. I didn't understand it. The pizza's we had had were good. "Book 'em Dan-o" and the "Mmmm....Meat" were very tasty. Alcohol pricing was fair. And the combo drinks were cool. Had a couple of the "American Dreams" and left with a good little buzz. All in all a decent place. Just not if you gauge your visit based on the service.

    (3)
  • K. B.

I usually take any friends that visit here first! The food is consistently great and I enjoy the atmosphere. It can get a little loud and the service isn't fantastic, but the food makes up for it. The pizzas are great and I really love the fruit/nut salad.

  • Phan H.

Pretty cool place. Came here on a friday night for some quick drinks and the bartenders were hot. The place is nice and classy, good for small groups. They also serve food which is a plus. The service was very good as they were chatting us up and giving suggestions for other places that need to be visited.

Fly Bar, I believe, is a chain of bars in the Bay Area. My girlfriend and I were in San Francisco for New Years and stayed at the Carlton Hotel in Nobb Hill. We happen to stumble to the bar since it's next door and it didn't disappoint. Good local craft beers, good music, friendly people, and amazing bartenders. I am from Los Angeles, but living in San Francisco will be ideal for us.

$3 pint for happy hour Scrimshaw Pilsner. So I'm a fan . 5 beers on tap. Didn't have food, but the place was busy.

Man, I like this place. I REALLY like this place. My first experience here was great and even after that (and knowing what to expect) I was impressed AGAIN the second time around. The sangria is good (and at $4 it's hard to pass up!), the portions are on the larger side, the quality of the food is on point and the prices are hard to beat. The salads are great and the pizzas are equally awesome (thinner crust and some awesome toppings). I haven't been to Fly Bar for happy hour yet, but I imagine that will make my fall in love with this place all over again. Even during regular hours, this place is a gem!

  • Elena D.

Great bar food. Good drinks, never crowded and good for sports games when every other bar is crazy packed! TRY THE SALTY DOGS!

    (4)
  • Kathleen P.

I would recommend the pizzas ($5 during happy hour) and the Sangria (a little watered down compared to Cha Cha Chas). The service is great and the food comes out relatively quickly. The other food on the menu such as the salads are also good picks.

I freaking love Fly Bar right now. Of course, that may be because I am having that rare, glorious buzz, where you actually think that you may get to enjoy the inebriation while still getting to bed on time and not getting hungover. Tomorrow I may feel another way entirely. But even when not drunk, I think that Fly Bar is a great addition to the Tendernob. Alcohol, served with a wide variety of apps & entrees?? Within a few blocks of my apartment?? BINGO!!! But no desserts?! WTF is up with that?!? I heart booze. I heart booze and brownie better! I'm going to become to Fly Bar what the Tamale Lady is to Zeitgeist, except I'll be hocking Little Debbie's out of my purse. As for their current offerings: Salads- I love the whole giant salad in a bowl thing, and the fact that you pre-toss (toss... lol). But make sure that, when plating, the toppings don't sink to the bottom! The "Fruit to Nuts"was okay, but would be better with any other apple but the Granny Smith. The dressing on the "Jimmy the Greek" was disappointing- pure olive oil & red wine vinaigrette, if I'm not mistaken. The buffalo wings were my favorite type- large, healthy and fried, drenched in Louisiana hot sauce to the point of near-sogginess. Boyfriend, a fan of crispy wings, did not like them. Pizzas- First we ordered the Carmel Blue, which was tasty yet gritty, due to the Gorgonzola. Next we had the Shroom Pie, which was gritty because of the pesto. Every other element of the pizza was great, so I'm sure that if we ever manage to order one that is not gritty, we'll be delighted. Hummus & Pita- I was PISSED when Boyfriend ordered an app that we could have easily made at home. But Fly Bar's hummus was fantastic and their pita was very nicely toasted. This is a great dish that shouldn't be overlooked. Waitstaff- Cute, yet approachable. I want to climb the tall one. Five stars! All in all, I am very impressed with Fly Bar. It's one of the best additions to the Tendernob that I could have hoped for, and I will be happy to use it when I need to kill some brain cells post-work, while keeping my bed within staggering distance.

Meh, Fly Bar is OK, but "meh" is more accurate. No food love for the vegan crowd that I saw, but still grabbed drinks here a few times. Interior and decor was a plus, I loves me some exposed brick. The lighting and bar fit together well, slightly upscale feel without being all fancy. If you like an upper middle class vibe but don't want to leave the TL, this works. Decent booze selection, plus a table shuffleboard game if that's your deal. Hmmm, I'd say come here for a late night drink after dinner maybe, if you want a mellow yet still upbeat kind of spot to chat. I think I'm gonna come back for the happy hour and see what's up Yes, this review is boring, but I guess I just wasn't that inspired? Not my fault.

I was baffled when I heard that they were opening a second Fly. Having spent my newly-turned 21 year-old days at the original bar in my old neighborhood, I was like, wait, can they even do that? I mean, in one metropolis you're allowed to open multiple Chevy's, various Walgreens, and assorted Posh Bagels, but two Fly Bars?? TWO?!? Needless to say, initially I was quite skeptical, and determined to find out just how Fly II was to match up against the former. As a result this review will be largely based on my comparison of the two :). I arrived at the Tendernob location last Friday at 5:30 for a happy hour with my girlfriends. I was feeling the awesome Moroccan lamps they had hanging in their doorway entrance, and right away I saw the section of ceiling where colorful star lanterns hung--signature décor of the old Fly. I also noticed that the place is pretty much set up like a restaurant, with about the half the space consisting of over a dozen small tables and a couple of communal tables. Quite different from the original, which is a straight up bar and lounge. The space is also at least three times larger than the old location, very open, and thus very loud. I always like square shaped bars that you can walk all the way around, and the plush green seats in place of bar stools are something different. Additionally, there's a small room in the back with seating and an arcade-style video game (no windows though made it kinda creepy) and another small area off to the side where you can play shufflepuck and watch them make the pizzas. We sat near the front (which was good because despite it still being day outside, it was very dark toward the back of the restaurant) and had a super nice waitress. As all pizzas were half off and signature cocktails were five bucks before 7, we decided to go for broke. You may be happy to know that while Fly I on Fulton and Divisadero serves only beer, sake, soju, and wine, this location has a fully loaded bar of hard alcohol. I thus tried the pisco sour, which was a tasty blend of the Latin liqueur, lime, and egg whites. Jen O. had an interesting mix of root beer and juice. The two pizzas we ordered were enough to fill the three of us, and definitely decent at the price of $4.50 each (at full price, I'm not sure I'd go for it). It definitely felt like a million bucks to get all that food and drink for just ten. All in all, the Fly II gets my nod of approval, though I'm still a more devoted fan of the original. While my favorite is a sexier, cozier, date-ier spot, this one's good if you're looking for a similar vibe but at something more like a restaurant. Had I come to the new one first, it might almost pass as special.

Geeks vs. Geeks. The event didn't disappoint. I came to Fly bar with a couple of coworkers for a night of trivia. Spider-Man, Resident Evil, and Shakespearean assholes were some of the topics. Pretty lively bunch. Pretty lame bar. I can't really blame the bartender, "We didn't expect 50 people to show up." But I was hungry and ordered a thai chicken pizzetta. After half an hour, I ask the guy where's my pizza, he says there're more on the way. After another half hour, it turns out he never put the order in. So I get the pizza on the house. No complaints there. But salad dressing, greens, and peanuts simply don't belong on a pizza. What's worse, the room we were in wasn't ventilated very well. Apparently geeks need to shower, too. If there are any takeaways, 1) Fly isn't a great place for food. 2) Fly isn't a great place for trivia night. 3) Fly serves beer, and that's just about the only good thing. But there are plenty of watering holes along Polk where you can get your buzz on. Yeah, I said it. Who said I didn't have a little geek in me?!

I can't believe I passed by so many times late at night, wondering where I could go eat and never realized this was more than just a bar! One of the reasons for me to write this review is to include this place in my late night eating list. But they also do deserve their 5 stars. The food selection might seem a bit basic, but it's very, very good. And the portions are HUGE, so you definitely get quality and quantity for not really that much money. Beer and wine selection is decent and also on the affordable side. The big plus also, as I said, is that they serve food late (although the bar is open until 2 am, they stop serving food at midnight). The staff was also pretty cool. Will definitely go back.

Same delicious food as the Divisadero location but classier (yet still casual) atmosphere. They have a small back room and modestly large side room, and the latter hosts a monthly geek trivia night! For your entertainment the rest of the time, the kitchen is open, fronted by a shuffleboard table, and there's a photo booth in the back. 5 beers on tap, a couple dozen more by bottle, and a decent scotch selection all appealed to me. Service was good both times I've been in, and they'll bring your food to the back or side room after you order at the bar.

Staff seems nice. Drinks taste okay, but not worth the price. The food selection is weak, and if you want something they do have, they seem to always "don't have it/ran out".

*I have only been once* *Will update review in future* There food sounds really amazing, but we made it in 5 minutes after the kitchen closed. However! They were really cool and let us bring outside food. I really liked the drink I got. Lots of cool soju & sake cocktails. Great place for before or after seeing a show at The Independent.

The BF and I have been looking for a good, old school arcade and some Ms. Pac-Man action, so when Fly Bar opened in the old Brick space, we were excited. Beer, pizza and video games? The perfect night out. Apparently I had gotten the wrong idea though, because they only have one computer with "every video game ever made" on it. *lower lip trembling a little* Oh well. We settled into our seats at the bar to take a look at their beer list. Impressive! From Paulander Heffeweizen on tap to Arrogant Bastard by the bottle, their brews are slammin'. The food menu is very straight forward with pizza and nachos, and even the "Brick Burger" from the old menu. I didn't get the chance to try the famous burger, but we agreed that the food we ordered was decent. All in all, I'd say it's a great neighborhood bar that attracts lots of TL locals and friends, and it pretty much devoid of pretense, which is a good thing when seeing and being seen gets old. The decor is little tacky, but hey, they've got shuffle board! Pour me another oh friendly bartender, because I've been practicing at Yelp HQ and I can kick some ass.

Yay server! The menu is not very gluten free friendly, but the server was happy to oblige when I asked for the spinach and artichoke dip to be served with veggies instead of bread. Cocktails were interesting and affordable. Will be back.

I went there to watch the broncos and patriots play, and was a little disappointed that there was only one TV, but I guess this really isn't a sports bar, but I'm not docking stars because of that. A bunch of people got the wings and we were all really sad when the plate came out. For 7 tiny wings, I paid 8 dollars. It was a complete rip off! The wings tasted great, but I should have gotten like 3 more orders. They do have a pretty good happy hour and the place is really nice. It was comfortable too. It was a nice place, I may go back for the happy hour or the best of both combo, but they need to step it up on the food!

I went to the new Fly Bar on Tuesday evening for dinner and beers after cocktails at Le Colonial, so I guess the establishment had only been open a couple of hours at that point. It looked exactly like it did when Brick was open in the same space. I'm not sure if they even changed the art on the walls, but the prices are lower than Brick, so I see it as a net gain. I get that the first night can be rough, but that's no excuse for inattentive servers and under-seasoned food. I can accept that the video game room wasn't open yet, and props for the shuffleboard table. Good specials, including an any-time, monthly beer special (Blue Moon's Honey Moon for $3 from now through the end of May), and half off pizza at happy hour. The guacamole was good, but the spinach artichoke dip failed to amaze and the pizzas were not well executed. Everything needed salt. It was tough to obtain the aforementioned salt because our waitress was hard to find, which made for a long delay on 2nd round beers and refills on water just never happened. Given the location, I'll be back relatively soon and I'm looking forward to upgrading on the update.

"Fly on Sutter..."Flutter!!" Too cute. Yet another restaurant I've lived down the street from for over 2 years that I never tried -- until last night. That fact actually surprises me. Given that my friends are happy-hour-enthusiasts, I'm surprised we never went to Fly....maybe they dint love me so dint want to share the secret. Well, too bad, I'm telling everyone!!! I had dinner at Fly last night and found it fantastic. Food was delicious: ---BBQ Chicken Pizza ($9 or $4.5 during HH!) - lightly sauced and topped w/ loads of chicken. ---Fruit & Walnut Salad ($7.75) -- ginormous and delicious. I loved how they julienned the apples, which most salad places do not do. Walnuts to spare. Every bite had all the flavors. ---Tecate 24oz ($3!!) I didn't actually order this, but have to call it out. What a steal. Ambiance was funky fun. Perfect dim lighting with "bottle cap" art that will keep you entertained. Though I personally did not make happy hour last (runs to 7pm, any day of the week), I will definitely be back to make it. 1/2 off pizzas and $3 drafts is an amazing deal for SF. I will be back, often."

I agree soft openings, and friends and family nights aren't "real" reviews and since Fly Bar didn't officially have it's grand opening till the 1st of May then mine as well as all the other reviews to follow till the "grand opening" should be eliminated or to the very least not taken as serious reviews. Then again some may just be a tad bit jealous of those other real experiences prior to "opening" but "whatevs." I'm just saying...

Fly bar is a great little place - a little nicer than a dive bar, but not by much. They have a great happy hour, good decently priced food and decent service. The kitchen is also open late. One of my favorite happy hour spots.

I love Fly Bar. They staff here is great, always attentive and quick to take your order. Their nachos are amazing, warm, covered with toppings. Their pizzas and pizzettas are mouthwatering. Several of their appetizers are tasty and quite filling. Long drink menu, and happy hour is ever day from 3:30-6:30!

This restaurant was close to my hotel so I figured I'd give it a try after a long day. The decor is very cool with a great vibe. They also had a menu selection that was like upscale bar food. A variety of choices and more interesting than many typical bars. Dinner was very good and served with a delicious dark green side salad with a light dressing. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant given the odd name.

SCRUMPTIOUS and cheap for a sit down restaurant in SF. I had the Thai Chicken Pizzeta and it was great and a ton of food. I usually eat a lot and I had some leftovers. The New Order, Velvet Underground, and Rolling Stones tunes plus the decor made it a lovely place to eat. It was lively, casual, and unpretentious, and the servers were attentive and genuine. We live down the street and will start coming here more often. WU-TANG!

It's true about the happy hour. When it's not on happy hour, it's not worth it. First of all, I LOVE the decor. I think the atmosphere is great. A really good place to hang out with friends. It's a good bar, but not so much a restaurant. I was expecting more from the menu... something like Chambers Eat + Drink around the area. But no, they have typical bar food. Sandwiches, pizza, wings, fries, and cookies for dessert. I actually like what I had. It's just not in a place like this... So come here if you want to drink, but don't come hungry. And the service? It was alright, ok service gives ok experience.

A bar with lots of space, and a good menu with pizza/sandwiches/salads. I had one previous, brief, visit where a rude waitress made my boyfriend and I decide to leave before ordering anything. Took her awhile to acknowledge us, and when she finally did, started out by insisting we switch from a 4 person table to a rickety 2 person table even though the place was practically empty late on a Saturday afternoon. Eh, never mind then, Ms. Charming. We'll keep both of your tables unoccupied. A few months later, we tried again, chalking it up to one off experience. Success! We got a friendly, attentive server with seemingly no seating issues. We ordered nachos as an appetizer along with two personal pizzas and a half-pitcher of sangria. We were warned that the nachos was pushing our order into the "too much food" category. But we were 2 starving adults, and took our chances, because we were prepared to take leftovers home if necessary! The nachos WERE mountainous with generous toppings. I had the Pesto "pizzetta" which has a bunch of fresh greens on top. He had the Southwest pizza. I came out ahead in the pizza category - the Southwest was a little wimpy with the toppings, and the crust had a very wide border to it, like a good inch and a half before the cheese/toppings began. Everything was tasty though, and the sangria was delicious. And yeah, no leftovers other than a pile of crusts - Will be back -my faith in their service was restored. Good drinks, good space, and some sandwiches that I'd like to try!

I want to like Fly Bar, I really do. The Happy Hour pizzas are delicious and a total steal, and their incredible beer selection is actually very reasonably priced. So why only 3 stars? Last time I came here, the odor in the place was absolutely unbearable. It pretty much smacked us in the face when we walked in. What did it smell like? Like a friggin' Port-a-Potty. Seriously. I wanted to leave but my boyfriend was starving and tried to convince me I'd get used to it. I didn't. How do the owners not notice this?! And if they have noticed it (and there's no way they haven't) why haven't they done something about it? The funny thing is, the odor isn't coming from their bathrooms - those smell fresher than most restaurant WCs in SF. Please get the stink out, Fly Bar. I really want to like you, but that smell has got to go before I'll ever come back.

Went here for Happy Hour last night and had a blast! Until 7 PM, beers on tap were $3 - that's all I needed to know! ;) I liked that this place is unpretentious as it's just far enough from the financial district if you know what I mean. I liked the decor - brick wall and jeweled art. Nice! I'll be back.

I didn't know there were two Fly Bars in the city. I would always see the one on Divis so when my friend suggested there was one in her hood, I was curious. This one is more tucked away in the TL. It's a decent place for drinks and food. We split a pizza which was pretty tasty. I can't say I love it but I can't say I hate it either. It's a good place if you're looking to catch up with an old friend which is what we did.

Half-Off Pizzas are GREAT! $4.50 each during happy hour (Shroom Pie && Southwestern) = yum. Service = Not So Great. The End.

"These pizzas are really good," I yelled. "I know we're in the hood," she yelled. "And how about these happy hour specials! What a great deal," I yelled. "What do you you mean, am I for real?" she yelled. "No, I said I like this place," I yelled. "What? I can't hear you," she yelled. Never mind. Good pizzas. Good happy hour pizzas and specialty drinks (unless you're a wine drinker, then no happy hour specials for you). Nice bartenders but snotty waiters. Loud, loud, and loud atmosphere. I had trouble hearing my friend sitting 2 seats away from me. Fun night with great company, but I don't think I'll be going back.

Oh Baby! I don't even want to write this review because I have been feeling greedy lately. I don't want it to get over-crowded or for the demographic to change so I will say, it's alright, I may come back, they have some decent amenities. (Ok really......it's awesome! I freaking love it! I will be here any chance I can get!) Side note: You walk into the bathroom and feel like you are entering a den of pleasure. The dim red light is nice, ambiance wise, but makes it hard for me to pee. Only other complaint that is holding me back from 5 stars is the heat. Boy is it warm in there with their open kitchen by the shuffle puck table. Wait, did I say shuffle puck?? Scratch that! I meant they definitely do not have a brand new, really awesome shuffle puck table with a staff who will dust your table if they feel like it is getting a bit slow. They also opened the door to try and control the heat. Best part you ask?? You can also watch them chop up bacon. I could stare at that for hours.....

I practically live above Fly Bar so it is almost like walking down into my living room when I hit this spot up. I used to hit this up all the time when it was Brick and I was up the hill further. Crowd is still a solid group, good looking and diverse. Bartenders are damn friendly and the drink prices are average to below average. The kicker for me though is the happy hour food special. All of their specialty pizzas are half off. A gourmet pizza for 5 bucks. And this isn't one of those happy hours that goes from 5 to 530. It starts at noon....yeah I said noon. All day long...pizza....good...half off. And I can just roll down in my boxers and bunny slippers.

Using the Yelp application on my Crackberry, we saw the rating for Fly Bar and decided to give it a shot after our brief affair with Rye. It was a nice night for a short walk, and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the bar. The happy hour specials are pretty decent. We took advantage of the $5 signature cocktail and $6 pizza specials (bbq chicken), and also ordered the chicken satay and fries. All of it was decent food, but not so spectacular that I would drag people there just to nosh. The bbq chicken pizza was definitely enough to feed two ladies, just slightly larger than the size of a dinner plate with a chewy crust, thinly slathered with tangy sweet bbq sauce, sprinkled with mozzarella cheese and thin slices of chicken. What would've made the pizza better would have been some cilantro, though for $5, you really can't complain. The woman who sat next to us mentioned her favorite was the pizza with carmelized onion and blue cheese. Secretly, I wanted to order that pizza instead but I knew my friend didn't particularly like the stinky cheese. The chicken breast satay was also fine, with 8 skewers and a peanut dipping sauce. It made me laugh though because it made me think of my Malaysian friend who had complained about the American aversion to dark meat chicken. It can't be helped that white meat is dry compared to dark meat, but I thought it was pretty moist. Stars for the fact that it was a nice spacious venue, good service and a chill vibe, though if you're looking for great food, there are definitely other places to go!

decent place for happy hour during happy hour the personal pizzas are half off so its about $6 after tax and tip. They have about 10 pizzas to choose from and they are pretty good. I personally like the mmmmm meat pizza and the bbq chicken ones. They also have $1 off draft beer during happy hour which I hear is until 630pm. Either way its a good place to hang out although I wish they had more than 1 big screen TV.

I drift in & out of Fly during the week and on weekends. Its such a great neighborhood bar, i can sit in there for hours. All the bartenders, Erin, Beth, Karen, they are all so sweet and friendly and fun to talk to. Grab a bite to eat, I recommend the hummus & tapenade plate, the Nick's salad, the O'Charlie or the Foghorn Leghorn -- all regular snacks of mine. Or any one of their pizzas, my favorites being the margherita and jimmy the greek. That crust is so good sometimes i rip it off and just eat that by itself, plus you cant beat their happy hour for $5 pizzas.

Fly Bar-- i like your happy hour soooo much. $6 pizzas? $3 beers? share pizza with a friend = $3 dinner? YES PLEASE. The only problem: I never have an urge to go here when it's not happy hour. this is a happy hour strictly place, but a good one at that.

Love it! I've been here a few times now, and last night my friend had a birthday party in the private room to the right. Awesome time! Our bartender rocked and the crowd was cool. Great bar near the hotel we stayed in. The staff was friendly, cocktails were strong and they have generous wine pours (though they don't use proper wine glasses). Perfect place to cozy up to the bar with a friend for conversation or drink alone if that's your thing. People are friendly and I guarantee you'll have drinking buddies in no time. They also have a full menu which I didn't get to enjoy but everything looked pretty good from where I was sitting.

Came here late night w a friend to grab some buffalo wings to go. Ended up caving and getting the hummus as well. While we waited, we gave their sangrias a try. Probably one of the better ones I've had. Very enjoyable to drink, but still had good kick to it! Would be down anytime for another one.

Hello Fly Bar! Now that I've dethroned Tom F as your Duchess I figure its time to tell you how much I love you. Happy hour here is awesome as every other review mentions from $6 pizzas to drink specials. Only complaint...why no wine on the happy hour menu? Can we maybe work something out? Love the baked brie, buffalo wings, shroom pie, and La Tortilla salad. Personal favorite is to do the la tortilla with ranch and BBQ dressing. Copying CPK, but trust me its delicious. Nice gentleman server is always there putting up with our drunken antics. Will get his name next time, but he also plays good music. Last night we had some Billy Idol with our wine. Loves it. xo

+2 stars for the gritty bar-resto ambiance. Dark, interesting. Crowded, especially at rush hour. Plan accordingly. +2 stars for the wait staff. They'll take care of you, even if it's packed. Treat 'em nice.

Thank you, Mr bartender for filling up my water every time I finished it, as I was pretty thirsty from drinking all afternoon and half the night. That always makes me feel nice and "taken care of". I needed about a gallon of water, how did you know? You read my mind every time. Thanks! At least my friends were still drinking, but I had wussed out apparently, halfway through my Saturday night. ------ On another note, I like the section of the drinks menu where they have specific beer/shot combos for something like $8. (At least the one my friends had was $8, a jameson and a Turbo Dog.) I guess the shuffleboard thing is an interesting idea. . I personally hate most games (don't I sound fun) but some people are into it.

This is a fun spot to grab a drink or 3, or sit down and enjoy a meal with friends. The first time I came here, I met a friend for a few drinks. They have a delicious apricot beer that I recommend trying. We sat by a table by the window, and chatted for about an hour and a half or so. They have a shuffleboard too. Nice touch! I came here the other night for a girls night. Ordered drinks and dinner (the tuna melt with a side salad). The food was standard. My tuna melt tasted really good, and I'd order it again. They offer pizzettas which are pizzas with salad on top-- looked pretty good. On a busy night, don't expect to see your waitress a ton, but we were in no rush to leave. Prices are decent, atmosphere is fun, drinks are strong... I can't really ask for much more. This is one of my favorite local spots!

Came for dinner, had the baked brie for appetizer. Very good, warm French bread served with gooey melted baked brie with roasted garlic - delicious. Shared a pizzetta - pizza dough with the thai chicken salad on top, really nice, a little spicy kick, not heavy. Good meal, nice atmosphere, staff were friendly. Want to go back and try the sandwiches.

Came here on Monday, October 22nd, 2012. I will never forget it. This day was a "perfect storm" of events: Giants Game 7 win to clinch the Pennant and an Allen Stone concert at Great American Music Hall. Fly Bar is great for a pre-show meal and drinks since its walking distance to GAMH. We missed happy hour (only until 6:30) which includes half off pizzas. That didn't stop me from ordering the Shroom Pie. Allow this equation to explain: Great Flavor=Portabello Mushrooms+Cheese+Pesto+Thin Crust We also had a Foghorn Leg Horn Sandwich (roasted chicken, bacon, tomato pesto, guacamole and provolone, pressed on a baguette). Chicken was a little dry but the tomato pesto with guac in a sandwich is a wonderful combo. Also, it comes with a large salad. For drinks, I had a SIDEWALK SLUMBER which is a bottle of Lost Coast Great White & a shot of Fernet for $8. Not bad and the shot can actually be split into two shots since they give you a mini bottle to pour yourself. Theres also a few good beers on tap. We went for the Racer 5. The crowd is pretty upscale so no hoodies here. It was a great place to watch the Giants game. Not too packed like an actual sports bar. One TV but no one seemed to have a problem with it. Especial when we got that final out in the ninth! Overall, I felt I got good value for my money here. The food had good flavor, the drinks were a deal with the $8 shot and a beer deal. Full and buzzed, whats better than that?

I stopped by here while visiting a buddy in the city. Cool atmosphere. Great beer selection. Great pizza.

Love this place! bartenders are on point and experience at Fly Bar. And they freakin pour your drink with a smile on their face, not many SF bartenders do that. Love the choices of beer and also this place has plenty of room for you to roam around. I am ok paying $8 for a drink if the place is worth it. The crowd is older which I love and you can talk here without yelling across the room. Def will come again very soon!

Love this neighborhood place. Great happy hour, nice crowd, cool music, waiters are nice and the FOOD hmmm good. Really nothing to say except :I'll be back!

For bar food (careful you don't blur those two words) it's quite good. Been here a couple times, good, affordable pizza and snacks. It gets pretty crowded around 10 so show up earlier if you want a good spot. All the staff seems genuine, nice and appreciative of your business. Good Guinness on tap, also at a reasonable price.

My boyfriend had been gushing about the tasty little pizza bar down the street so I had to visit Fly Bar as soon as I moved down. Luckily, he was not over-exaggerating. They have authentic buffalo wings, awesome pizza (and pizzettas, where your pizza acts as a lovely salad plate, yum!) and a great beer selection. Add to that super friendly staff who are well versed in the profiles of the beers they serve and I think I might be stuck on Fly Bar like flies to... oh, you know.

One of the BEST Happy Hours in SF! Why? 12p - 6p HH, 1/2 priced pizzas ($5), $3 draft beers, and it's just... COOL. I've been here on a Monday afternoon, a Thursday night Happy Hour, and a Sunday night shindig. If I'm coming here at least week once a week, you KNOW I'm a fan and perhaps an alcoholic. I kid I kid! This place is SERIOUSLY packed on a daily. Despite the mediocre customer service, I dig this place simply because of it's character. Located between Nob Hill and TL, Fly brings in a colorful/diverse crowd and great energy. Come here, let loose and have a FLY time.

Outstanding service. Great mix of people and music. Some of the mixed drinks are hit or miss but the beer selection cures that. Favorite SF bar! Pizzettas sound strange but taste great! Happy hour gets crowded - but usually able to get a seat after a short time.

Nice, lively neighborhood bar and restaurant with pretty good food. The waiter was really not very friendly or attentive. The server/bus girl was very nice. I had the signature pizzetta, which is a pretty decent pizza with a salad on top of it. Different, for sure. Not sure if I dug the combo that way but it wasn't terrible. Younger locals (20-something couples) and older tourists comprised the crowd. Good atmosphere.

I stumbled in here last night in the middle of a quasi pub crawl and out of the 10 places we made it to, this was BY FAR the best. Cool vibe, great bar layout, street fighter arcade game in the back (which I owned) and strong drinks. I'm going back on Saturday to get a more sober perspective...I suspect it'll still be worthy of 5 stars. Win!

Conveniently located next to the hotel I was staying at Fly Bar served as a great watering hole. Came here with some friends after dinner to enjoy a drink and shot the shit. The atmosphere is casual chic and warm and inviting. I didn't feel like beer so I opted for Fly Bar's Sangria and was not disappointed. I swear I could have had a few more but that work thing sometimes gets in the way of a good time. We attempted to come back on Friday night but there was a private function. With happy hour specials and great drinks, I have plenty of reasons to return.

dictionary.com defines synergy as: "the interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects." synergy to me, as a half-black, half-japanese-american gal, is obvious. nothing super special about a horse. nothing super special about a horn. but put them together and you get something super special - a unicorn! and while brad and angelina were both really hot on their own, it wasn't until hollywood had birthed brangelina that the world knew supermegainsanelycrazy hotness (well, minus brad's new homeless man beard). one of my favorite synergies? the tendernob. nob hill swagger meets tenderloin seediness, and you get a swagga-seedy combination that anyone can get down with. come to think of it, homeless brad would fit right in. and one of my favorite tendernob establishments? fly bar for happy hour. delicious pizzas at half price, and $3 anchorsteams or other beers on tap. like everyone else on yelp, i deem thee awesome.

The happy hour here is one of the best deals going, a pizza big enough for two for $4.50 and $3 quality beers on tap. Great place for a little unwinding after work. The pizza is thin crust and the toppings are decent. The crowd is for the most part late twenties and young thirties, the TVs typically display sports, and the bottle-cap art on the walls is very unique and tastefully done. It's a good lounge. Also, the bathrooms are kept pretty immaculate, something that I like, the bartenders are friendly, and the vibe is very smooth. Good place to relax, unwind, and knock back quality draft.

I really like what they've done with the place. The Fly Bar on Divisadero is my go-to place before Independent shows, but parking in that part of the world can be blech, so I decided to hit the new Fly last night for happy hour. The food is (from what I can tell) the same as the other Fly. The pizzas are tasty, the fries look divine, and the salads are my favorites in the city. I'm used to the warm spinach salad, but last night I branched out and got the fruit and nuts, which was superb. I'm not a fan of the wine glasses, but whatevs. The selection is fine, and they have all sorts of good beers on tap. And did I mention shuffleboard? SHUFFLEBOARD. RULES.

Okay okay, this is the FIRST 5 I have given out on Yelp. My favorite happy hour spot to go with friends after work. Or with a friend during lunch! Great food, great prices, cool atomosphere. Only once have I been disappointed in something....the wings were small and dry......BUT I have been back many times and found the wings to be much much better. So I chalk it up to a fluke. Fantastic half priced pizzas and cheap/tasty draft beer. My favorite pizza is the shroom.....it has drizzled pesto all over it.........and I always get it with a side of ranch (which I THINK is made on site Yum) I went once for lunch had a chopped salad, which was HUGE and delicious. One thing I just remembered that almost makes me want to take off half a star is the bathroom. It's always clean....I think? It's super dark so I can't even tell what I'm touching half the time! They only use a red bulb so I find myself standing there for a minute letting my eyes adjust before I can find the loo..... anywhoo...

One of my new favorite spots in SF to eat. If you want to chill and unwind and have a few drinks this is the place to. I discovered when we were walking down the street from my hotel. It was one of the best choices i made. The staff is really nice, The food is good especially the nachos and pizza. They also got mix and match drink specials(shot/beer) served all day long.

I can't believe I've never been here before! Came here for an afternoon snack -- happy hour offers all their pizzas for $5.95 and they're delicious! We ordered the Blanco Pizza which had mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes and red onions on top of a garlic sauce. Total yum. Will definitely be back for other snacks, food and drinks!

While I didn't have any of the food here - this place was amazing. Between the lighting, the amazing lemon drop shots and their fantastic collection of beer, I was blown away. My friends and I had such a good time here. There was music, but it wasn't overpowering so we could still talk, we barely had to wait at the bar, and when we were served, it was by a very enthusiastic and kind barmen. The cocktails are creative and delicious, and the beers they have, such as Arrogant Bastard, are to die for. (Plus, it's open until 2am - I think. Maybe it was 1am. Regardless, we were there for a WHILE.) If you're in SF and you're looking for a cool, classy yet laid back place with great atmosphere to eat and grab drinks, this is your place.

Every night (day, depending on which friend I'm with) my first thought is sangria at Fly and my last thought of the night, sangria at Fly...can we make it? $20 pitchers of sangria perfect balance of wine and sweeteners and fruit.

Went here before a concert at the Great American Music Hall, and had a great start to the night! I usually visit the Divis location, but really enjoyed this slightly different yet very enjoyable atmosphere. Food is great, but the sangria is always the go-to. Very happy to have tried this spot, and will definitely go back when in the neighborhood!

The pizzas here are flavorful and filling, and downright amazing during happy hour when they are half price - so far I've had the margherita pizza, and something with artichoke & red onion, both of which make me want to run through the rest of their menu in the very near future. I've been working my way through the specialty drinks too, most of which are $5 during happy hour (normally $8 or so). The pisco sour was a bit eggy for my taste, but otherwise not bad. The root beer drink was alright, albeit very strong - not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't make it taste as root-beery as it could. The homemade ginger syrup was a nice touch though. My favorite drink so far would have to be the sour cherry punch, which is a perfect refresher on a hot day when you're shopping for a Halloween costume you may or may not end up using because you were too hungover from Halloween Eve to do anything (what, that's normal, isn't it?). The drinks, the pizza, the insanely kick-ass bartenders and the seriously kick-ass happy hour (from 12-6 or so on the weekends, and there's plenty of other drink specials too) are quickly making this one of my favorite spots in town, and the bottle cap art on the walls just seals the deal.

Came here on a date on a Tuesday night. I really liked Fly Bar because there was a good mixed crowd (some people were on dates, some people were eating alone at the bar watching sports on tv, some were with groups of friends). The prices for food and drink were pretty reasonable for Nob Hill ($7 cocktails, $9 sandwiches/pizzas). I was excited that they served Dark and Stormy's here with real ginger beer...I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't come across a lot of SF bars that have ginger beer? The ambiance inside is cool and dim with some large plants here and there. The people are chill (no rowdiness or suits). I would recommend this place on any given weekday night.

Love love love this place. Happy hour 1/2 off pizzas and $3 drafts (I think). 12:30 to 6:30 every day. My boyfriend and I went (more like crawled after R Bar) and ordered the spinach artichoke dip (amazing) and the southwestern pizza (also amazing). Their pizzas hold the perfect combo of fluffy yummy crust and thin pizza that doesn't get floppy. We also had two beers. We were full and it only cost $25. It doesn't get much better than that in SF. Since that day we've been back twice and I assure you we will be regulars. I've also had the chicken and goat cheese quesadilla, nicks salad (very filling and delicious), the funky chicken and book em dano. I pretty much want to try everything on the menu. Great beer selection as well and the bartender with the dreads will make you feel like you've been going there for years.

Came here on a sleepy Sunday night with a group of friends. The Boy and I split a Nick's salad (my god, this salad is HUGE. just to mentally prepare you in case you decide to order a salad.) and a Shroom Pie (mushroom pizza with pesto sauce). I wasn't expecting much from a dive bar in terms of food quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. Both of our dishes, as well as our friends' selections, were all tasty and fresh. The chicken nachos dish is an item that could have been seriously fumbled and people would have understood (i.e. it's a dive bar, nachos are supposed to be greasy, I'm probably drunk now, etc.), but Fly Bar chose to go the high road and deliver solid, nay, *superb* nachos. Well-done Fly Bar, well-done. There's a section on the drinks menu called 'The Professionals', which I urge you to order from. I got the Great White & fernet and was comfortably buzzed for only $9 -- lovely. We played shuffleboard after finishing our dinner & drinks, which makes every night 10X better. Shuffleboard, in case you haven't played it before, is like curling for gnomes. What is curling, you ask? Seriously, f-ing Google it already, I'm tired of explaining games to you. Where was I? Oh right -- head over to Fly Bar for solid food, drink, and shuffleboard and you will have a splendid time. Promise.

Fly bar is near my apartment. Great selection of beers (plus properly poured Guinness. No hard alcohol, sake shots for the most part. Lovely times tonight at my local bar. Looking forward to eating here because I heard it's better food than Sutter's location.

Perfect place for any kind of occasion: friends, date night, or grab a bite to eat. I definitely wouldn't mind coming here alone to eat and have a beer. The menu is delicious. The portions are perfect for sharing. I usually order about three dishes and share with another person. I've never been to a bar that offers quality "bar food!" My personal favorites: - FB's mountain high nachos - FB's spicy meaty buffalo wings - FB's Mmmmm...Meat pizza with proscuttio, pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers! The setting is mellow and chill. All patrons engaged in their own personal conversations and the energy is pretty positive. The staff does their best to ensure that everyone is having a good time and they do so effortlessly and successfully! A+

Interesting place. Not too expensive, lots of seating inside and they have food. The bar is inset, so when you're sitting at the bar, it feels very cozy. Only had beer and sangria here. Both were acceptable. Vibe is chill/loungy. The neighborhood is always entertaining, lots of trannies late at night.

Came in for the Happy Hour deal of $3 drafts and 1/2 off pizzas from 4-6:30pm. The personal pizzas were much better than the beer. The "Shroom Pizza" was glazed perfectly and the pesto was a nice touch. The Speakeasy 'Back in Black' was ok but the Blonde Ale was from an obviously flat and stale keg. The beer tried its hardest to taste good but it tasted like the last sips of MGD from a frat keg on a hot day. Good and fast service... and not much of a crowd but enough people so it doesn't feel deserted. Easy happy hour outside of the TL that is just too uphill for the plethora of bums 2 blocks down to creep up to.

I'm easily swayed by booze, what can I say. Bar hopping on my birthday, this was my second stop after a very dissatisfying fifteen minutes at a not-to-be-named 'establishment' a couple blocks away. Cheered me right up. I had a few beers (Abita Christmas ale, two points) and an unexpectedly excellent Hawaiian pizza. The bartenders were really friendly and quickly decided that 'we have to all take a shot of fernet together.' (This, I learn from the innernette, is the Argentinian national spirit. Nice.) It was a very pleasant time, surrounded by these neat 'paintings' made of shiny bottlecaps, and indeed the happy hour specials here are fantastically priced. I also have a bizarre hereditary fetish for copper metal, and the bar countertop is made of it, which helps seal the deal.

Great little spot in the "TenderNob" (no kidding yourself that it's really in Nob Hill) with a rockin' happy hour... You can't beat the $5 signature cocktails (salty dog and island rootbeer were impressive) and half off pizzas (pesto, cheese and carmelized onions were standouts). The beer cap mirrored décor will also inspire the funky Martha Stewart in you thinking after a few drinks that you could easily snaz up your own place with the same concept.... If only you could drink 873 more bottles of beer for the caps you would need. Fly Bar also gets massive points for serving growlers from the local Rogue Brewery.

Cool spot -- good happy hour, spacious layout, good to come by during the week and grab a beer and catch up with some friends. Nestled in the good ol' "tendernob" area. Gotta love that. The tendernob.

Happy Hour from 12 to 6:30 with $5 signature cocktails, $5.95 pizzas, and $1 off draft beers. Woo hoo! I'm a big fan of the Southwestern pizza, which has corn, black beans, onions, cilantro, and peppers. My friend had the Carmel Blue, and she really liked it. I would only recommend that one if you're a fan of potent cheeses though. Good drinks, yummy pizzas, inexpensive, and a very cool vibe. I'm a fan!

Sweet happy hour deals and delicious food. Order the pizza and it came out quick and the flavor was great. Not your typical pizza with a thick layer of grease over it. When we got here it was pretty empty, but it filled up fast! I'd definitely recommend coming here, grabbing a beer or two and trying one of their pizzas.

We had the salad & quesadilla. So good, the chicken had great flavor and the salad was perfectly dressed. I wish we'd have been in SF so we could've eaten here more.

Came here on a Friday night after work, and I was pleasantly surprised with the ambiance. Fly Bar has a great interior space, with a central bar located in the middle of a large room with high ceilings. Dark wood tables, classy lighting, and authentic brick walls adorned with some interesting artwork all added to the effect. Drinks were reasonably priced, as were the tasty appetizers. I ordered the hummus and tapenade place, which came with some fresh vegetables and a modest helping of pita slices. The server was prompt and on top of his game, coming back multiple times to check on us. The place was definitely busy, but not to the point of being obnoxious. I think this has to do with the bar's location. It's far enough away from the Financial District that it doesn't get completely overloaded on a Friday night, however it's still close enough to be a less than 10 minute bus ride from Market and Montgomery. I really enjoyed it here and I hope to return soon!

  • Julie T.

Happy hour is from 12-6 everyday and pizzas are like 5.85! The service here is pretty sucky because there's only one person here at a time. On top of that none of the servers/bartenders that I've seen here were friendly/personable/nice. However I come anyway because it's conveniently located a block away from where I work and because certain things on their menu is just plain good... Like their bacon spinach salad... Called something else. Bacon espinacha or something.... Is amazing!!!!! It's a spinach salad with a warm bacon vinaigrette, roasted tomatoes, roasted potatoes, and bacon! Sooooooooooooo good!

Came here on Friday night after a show at the Masonic, and it was packed with Giants fans. That's cool. I enjoyed watching the end of the game too. When that game was over, you could practically hear the crickets, though. This place cleared out. The service at the bar was crappy. The food was not great either. I did read the menu before entering, but it was reinforced that the selection of food was s**t. Nothing but carbohydrates galore. Give me some better selections, y'all. I won't be coming back here.

I decided to check this place out since i saw it on yelp. Cool lil kick it spot. esp if u want to get away from the more common "scene" areas like wish or holy cow. The bartender was hella slow getting only two drinks when really it was not busy at all. They have this lil back room area which would b nice if they didn't have it super bright! The lighting in the bar and seating were kinda dim then u go into this one room and BAM! brightness...They should tone the lighting to make it more intimate/inviting. Loved the pinot noir here, but was served in a glass other than a wine glass which was weird? but hey i wasn't complaining b/c i needed that drink =) Another good thing is if ur hungry u can order food from the kitchen till midnight!

Epic Customer Service FAIL on the part of the bartenders Wednesday night. (Reading the other bad review, it was the dreadlocked bartender, as well...and one other bartender and server.) Let me set the scene for you: the bar is not full--not even close to full, weekday night, relatively early--9:30ish, no one else needed to get the bartender's attention. So, can you please explain to me how my friend had to wait approx. 15-20 minutes to be noticed and served two ciders? (The friend in question is a tall, Swedish blonde girl holding money in her hand, who I would imagine doesn't have problems getting served anywhere else.) Perhaps I am spoiled by the original Fly. Russ and the Girls at the original FLY are bar superstars. No matter how crowded the place got--and it did get crowded--they were on top of it and I can never remember waiting more than a few minutes for a drink.

Shit, son! Is this the same Fly Bar as the small, over-packed bar on Divis? It can't be! Well, to my surprise, it is. I still can't believe it. I'm sorry but I can't help but compare this place to its "brother bar" to the west. I went here upon a cloudy Wednesday afternoon (6:02pm). It was a happy hour (not to my surprise seeing that most bars bear a happy hour at around 6:02pm during the week). But there was something particular this bar possessed: 1/2 priced pizza! And we're not talking about you're everyday cheese and pepperoni slices here, folks. They've got lots of unique flavors to choose from! I personally didn't order one, but JM did and she seemed to enjoy it. Just joking - I had a bite, and it wasn't bad. How can you deny a generously-sized (meal-sized, let's be honest) gourmet pizza for $4.50? You simply can't, fool. You simply can't! The beer on tap is also on a happy deal ($3) from 5-7pm for all to enjoy. The service was good, the ambiance is chill, they have a shuffle board, the place is roomy, what else can I say before getting a full-on erection? Too late. I DO have yet to scope the " sitch" out after dark, but I'll tell ya one thing: ditch the Divisadero location and go here!

This is the best Happy Hour I've come across in SF in a long arse time...4-7 pm, even on SATURDAYS! Yes, that's right...SATURDAY! Half off pizzas (which are only originally $8), and could be a meal for two people who have that of a smaller appetite and $3 drafts, which aren't bad. They also have a nice drink list. I enjoyed the salty dogs, and one of my friends ordered the Pisco sour, which apparently isn't "authentic" or whatever, but I tasted it and thought it was fine. I'm glad they took out Brick and put another Fly Bar in the city. The food at Brick was just decent, but I always thought the atomsphere would've been better as a bar as opposed to a nicer restaurant.

I was a bit skeptical about trying the new Fly Bar, as I am not a huge fan of the one on Divisadero. However, the new one has a full bar, so me and my bitches decided on it for happy hour yesterday. The venue is nice and big, half dedicated to the bar, and the other half tables to sit at. The crowd was pretty mellow, probably a good ten years older than the crowd at the other Fly Bar. We were by far the loudest and drunkest people there after about an hour. Happy hour only lasts until 7, and the only discounted drinks are the specialty drinks on the happy hour menu, which is annoying. Why is a "salty dog", which is vodka and grapefruit juice cheaper than a vodka soda? I think the pizzas are also discounted for happy hour, which is nice. The food was better than I expected it to be, although not what I would describe as "amazing". At various intervals in our drunken haze, we ordered, nachos, pizzas, and the spinach artichoke dip...avoid the latter. Service was decent, although by the end, our waiter was NOT amused by us, and developed a slight attitude. I forgive him, though, because dealing with 5 drunk girls can be extremely annoying. Reading my review, I'm realizing that the drinks must have been pretty strong...another plus!!!

Met some friends here for lunch and I loved it. The sangria was pretty spectacular and I had a pretty solid buzz after two of them The atmosphere is very neighborhood bar and chill and I would definitely go again. The service was the only drawback as it was a little slow but overall this is a great place for an afternoon snack or drink.

The new Fly Bar is wonderful! Their beer selection is great and affordable. A tall boy of Tecate for $3? Yes please! An Abita Turbodog for $4? Yes please! And for those not on a budget they have plenty of fancy drinks to keep you entertained. This is the perfect place for the employed and unemployed to hang out without feeling like the price is getting in the way. The food was typical bar food, the best part being that the kitchen stay open until midnight! Drunken calories, here I come! They have everything from baked brie to pizzas to sandwiches to burgers. As far as games go... They some kind of mega machine that can play all kinds of arcade games. I meant to check out the shuffle board but didn't get a chance. :( Minus one star for having co-ed bathrooms. I work with a bunch of dudes and we have a co-ed single bathroom and I will never be the same because of it. ps- A lot of people have been asking but don't worry, this is the second location, so the Divis Fly is still there. :-)

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and was very pleased with the Happy Hour. -On weekends from 3:30pm-6:30pm...$3 draft beers and half-off all pizzas! Should I go on...? -The pizzas are regularly around $9. They are a little bigger than a personal sized pizza...so you can certainly share. If you are a big eater...it's all yours. -The ambiance here is a little dark...ESPECIALLY the bathroom. I didn't go in...but I didn't hear good things. They were also playing just about every song you would find in Guitar Hero. -You can either sit at the bar or at a table with your party. This place definitely has my approval and I will be back very often.

$5 signature drinks, $3 draft beer, 1/2 price pizza..this is a happy hour well worth your dime. It does, however, end at 6:30. Awesome decor, great music at appropriate decibel levels, and a shuffleboard table to boot!

2 stars for bar food (note to self) 3 stars for service 5 stars for being able to know I won't go back when I go out I guess I want magic not lounge wear draft beer, I wish I would have just ordered pizza and had beer with friends at home, instead of having a 8-0 dollar boring night

This was a tough 3 star for me to give. I genuinely like Fly Bar. Its never packed, has cool decor, and great happy hour specials: $5 pizza and $6 signature cocktails. The dark and stormies there are excellent. So why not more stars? Well they only ever have one person working the bar and serving food. Its absolutely ri-damn-diculous! And I'm not calling out the one waitress/bartender, because she is good and tries her best, but seriously she needs help. I can't understand how on God's green earth, management thinks its ok to have one person working the whole bar. Its just sadistic. So there you go. Get this girl some help.

What a breath of fresh air after the pretentious disgusting bars in San Francisco. This place was warm, inviting and really chill. The crowd was only a little hipstery (I can't stand an overload of those), the drinks were delicious, and it was very reasonably priced. (Mixed drinks were about $8). I liked the decor and the local artwork. It was also really nice to walk right in and be seated at a nice table at like 11pm. And it wasn't like... oh it's empty so we'll seat you guys right away. It was pretty packed, but not stuffy. They had a table, so they seated us. The waiter was really nice and helpful, and not annoying, which was a plus. I'd definitely recommend this bar over the roudy psycho bars around there.

The GF and I sauntered down to this new watering hole brought to you by the same folks who run the Fly Bar on Divis last night, lured by the idea of video games. We were told upon entering that the video games weren't quite dialed-in yet, and that they had only one computer with every video game known to man on it. Disappointment! We had in our minds an old skool 80's style arcade room with Ms Pac Man and Joust and Centipede and a coupla pinball machines. Oh expectations, they get you every time. They did have a shuffleboard table however and we proceeded to get competitive on that puppy. It was perfectly dusted and the three red and three blue set of disks were in good shape and available free from the bar in exchange for a driver's license. That means nobody else was sweatin' us for time on the board - we had it all to ourselves. We were pretty evenly matched, despite it being my first time ever to play and my GF having a shuffleboard table in her office ;) I digress. The place had a great neighborhood vibe; everybody seemed to know everybody else. The bartender was super friendly and served me up an Eastern European (Polish Vodka and Apple Juice) followed by a Margarita then a Paulaner Heffeweizen. We tried the Margherita piza and the Nachos, both excellent bar fare. The interior was crazy with practically every wall a different color and every piece of art a clone of the others: all sequins! But who gives a crap about the interior when the space is large and you can drink and eat and play shuffleboard?

Came here after seeing a movie at Westfield Mall with my gf. We made it in time for happy hour. Drink and pizza specials made this an awesome find. We also ordered some buffalo wings. Everything was great, and the bartenders/servers were very friendly. We ended up staying for more drinks and a few games of shuffleboard. Good times!

I was recommended Fly Bar for their chicken wings and, I have to say, they were very tasty! In addition to the tasty wings, Fly Bar has a fairly hefty selection of beer. Most of their selection is bottled, but they have some good ones on tap...Guinness, a Belgian triple, a hefeweizen, Anchor Steam - to name a few. As you can see, my memory is a bit shoddy on this. PROs: 1. Attentive bartender when sitting at the bar 2. Great beer selection 3. GREAT HAPPY HOUR - $3 drafts and 1/2 price pizza's (so, $4.50 for a personal to medium sized pizza). Ends at 6:30pm 4. Operational and clean bathrooms 5. Not too seedy yet not too touristy area 6. Interesting crowd 7. Great music CONs: 1. Limited draft beer selection 2. The chicken wings didn't have a "spicy" option on the menu, but I assume you could request a kick up. 3. Only one TV (in case you like sports) to the side 4. The bartender left a couple centimeters empty at the top of my beer glass. I don't normally notice this, but I did this time. Normally, bartenders wait a bit for the foam to go down and then add more. 5. If lost and unfamiliar with the City, you can accidentally walk into the Tenderloin...not sure if this is a big deal. It isn't with me. But could be for sensitive people. I definitely WILL be going back for my chicken wang fix.

I've passed by a number of times on the bus, and finally decided to check out this Fly Bar. Met up with a fellow free agent (aka unemployed designer) to talk about life plans, career strategy ... and to drink. On a Thursday night, it wasn't super busy or crowded, nor was it uncomfortably empty. Just the right amount of buzz in the room for a chill happy hour. We took advantage of their great drink specials -- although their drinks are reasonably priced anyway. I had a tasty margarita on the rocks. I also ordered a Jimmy the Greek pizza (the pizza is half off during HH!), which was surprisingly good. Although, I tried a slice of my friend's Carmel Blue pizza (gorgonzola and caramelized onions ... mmm!), and that was fantastic ... definitely ordering that one next time. We ended up spending a solid five hours sitting at the bar, mostly just chatting, occasionally sipping or eating. The bartenders didn't seem to mind that we weren't running up a huge tab and would occasionally check in on us. Comfortable environment, good drinks, yummy food and patient bartenders at a price the jobless can afford ... what more could you ask for?

One of the best happy hour deals can be found here. With $5 drinks and half-off pizzas (normally around $9-10), you can certainly eat and drink for cheap. Had a pisco sour and shared their cheese pizza (with 3 different cheeses, including goat cheese). The pisco sour was HUGE...it came in a PINT glass! Unfortunately, it was more sour than pisco but for $5, it wasn't a complete loss. The best deal was the pizza. That cheese pizza was incredibly delicious and the goat cheese added a nice tangy/creamy kick. Bathroom is a little too dark, though. It's like going pee in a darkroom because it's so dim and red.

Yummmmmy! Thank you Fly Bar for providing delicious beers (wide selection) and above par (for bar food) nourishment. When my friend and I visited SF last month and stayed at the Hotel Carlton right next to the Fly Bar, I think we can here every single day. Moderately priced at night - but they have a great happy hour (half priced pizzas and cheap draft beers). Some of my favorites: the musroom/pesto pizza, buffalo wings, nachos, and Anchor Steam. The service was great too - didn't catch his name, but the guy bartender helped us almost each time we were there. Thank you Fly Bar!!

Best happy hour in my neigh. The bar's happy hour is so good its attracting snobby marina people that demand $4 pizzas quickly. You'll see these idiots in their review demanding quicker service. The food is totally amazing. The burger is by far the best in san francsico. The beer selection is solid and the staff is great. The bar tenders can actually make my girl a great mojito. I would recommend going on a sunday evening or an off night to avoid the crowds. Honestly, if you miss happy hour the prices are still very reasonable.

Great place for a happy hour pint and 2 for 1 pizza! Good selection of beverages, and I thought the service was just fine and dandy. The bottle cap art on the walls is kinda cool.

I can't wait to go back for their HH!! Some friends and I were here last night for a birthday and I just have to say that everything was AMAZING. Pros: -We went on Sunday so there was a vast amount of seating. Yay! -There's a parking lot across the street but you can find street parking (if you're patient). -DELICIOUS food!! We had the baked brie w/roasted garlic, spinach & artichoke dip, some wine, 4 x sour cherry punch, tuna melt, 2 x foghorn leghorn, chix pizza, and the pesto pizetta (SOOOO GOOD!! EVEN COLD!!!). -Great, genuinely friendly service. Some of the best I've received in the bay. They're even friendly over the phone :) -Reasonable prices and a great happy hour. -Ambiance was very nice and homey. Not pretentious or "scene". -Close to the TL bars on Polk Street. Cons: I don't think there were any.... This place is wonderful! P.S. My BF HATES pizza but he tried my pizzetta anyway...turns out he loved it and we're both looking forward to visiting Fly Bar soon.

4 stars for one of the best negronis in the city. I wish I could say what made it so great, but I can't put my finger on it. Blended well, that's for sure. It tasted, you know, like more than the sum of its parts. I couldn't place the gin. It *was* happy hour, so probably not top shelf. But, it didn't taste gin-y, or vermouth-y, or campari-y.... Also, a great value on the pizza. Not out of this world, but very good, especially at the happy hour price. I wanna go again!

  • Jim B.

This place has soju drinks, wine, and beer. The pizza and beer combo during happy is great! It is probably the best value in the city. The service is very prompt and quick. Last week I ventured off the menu and ordered the Nick's salad. Everything was fresh. I tried the Mediterranean salad that my pal, Willo, ordered and that was delicious, too. If you want to avoid the crowd between 5pm and 6pm works. After that it gets crowded but the crowd has a good positive vibe.

I stumbled upon this place on a recent weeknight, killing some time before meeting up with a friend. It was the happy hour sign that drew me in... I needed a drink and love a good HH special. And sure enough, good deals. $5 cocktails [though the list is short], half-price pizzas and $3 draughts. The price is right, but the food/drink didn't particularly impress. I had a salt-rimmed vodka/grapefruit cocktail (which was fine, though tasted rail-to-the-max) and a slightly undercooked Thai chicken pizza. I don't particularly recommend either. The crowd on this particular visit seemed to be a random mix of intoxicated Dutch tourists, sports bar macho types and neighborhood friends. But, props for being relatively clean/polished in a 'hood that's saturated with dive bars (Polk). Bottom-line -- it's fine, though nothing special enough to lure me back (granted I don't live nearby).

I was really liking the vibe of this place and its laid back feel until 1:55 am rolled around and they shut down - the guy literally came and took my drink out of my hand, telling me it was "illegal" for me to have it after 2 am. Ummm, wtf. It's not illegal you just want to go home. And it was 1:55, so give me 5 minutes and I'll finish it. Not coming back to this place.

    1. Happy hour hours are reasonable. 4-7pm. There are some places that I will not mention by name but they have happy hour that ends at 5pm Most people i know do not get out of work before 5pm. 2. Happy hour prices are reasonable. $3 draft beers, pizzas are 1/2 the price during happy hour. There are only about 6-7 beers on tap, but a great bottle selection. The carmel blue pizza is really good, and as cheap as $4.50 during happy hour and can feed about 3-4 people as a hearty appetizer. 3. Cool artwork made out of bottle caps. 4. Service is good and while it can be crowded, it's spacious and good for big groups.

I live in the neighborhood and was told this place was great, so my sweetie and I decided to try it out. Happy Hour drink specials were good. Our pint-sized Burgers.....meh....not worth the price. We left feeling hungry, not a good feeling after spending $50 on dinner and drinks. The place was hoppin' looked like everyone was eating the pizza or nachos...so maybe we should have ordered that??? I don't know. I'm apprehensive about going back...we have walked by a few more times and thought "should we?" but it seems we always say no. That teeny tiny burger just didn't cut it.

This place isn't bad but it isn't great. The food is OK; but the atmosphere is fun and chill. I like the shuffle board game in the back and when you add that in with their "Boarder Run" combo (shot of tequila and a beer), you're in for a great night. I would give this place another star, but I feel like they could improve their food a bit more.

I can literally walk to this place in under 3 minutes from my house and yet I still have a hard time suggesting it when we're looking for a place to go on a Friday night. It's one of the better restaurants/bars on my street complete with edgy decor and a young vibe. It's usually pretty crowded on the weekends and I don't know if it's me but their food isn't really worth the wait. They have the regulars to choose from; pizza and burgers and some interesting appetizers (my favorite used to be the baked brie until I learned how to make it at home and refused to pay that much for something so simple). Then there's their specialty cocktails that again, miss the mark in some way. Maybe they need some sort of change to the menu because that shit has been the same ever since I started coming here and the prices have never satisfied to boot. The hipster crowd that is beginning to infiltrate the dark corners of this bar/restaurant is attempting to redefine the level of cool that I clearly believe this place shouldn't have. Maybe I should put on my thick black rimmed glasses and turn down my Neutral Milk Hotel so I can really take the place in next time because I'm missing something. If you order the Rogue Dead Guy Ale Growler be aware that it might not be as cold as you would like. We've ordered it a few times and unless you're getting that to share with a table of 4, you'll be sucking on the ass end of a glorified 40 by the second glass. In this situation there's no shame in iceing your beer. No shame at all. Now that's not to say that I DON'T come here. On a weekday night I would love to come here if I have a little extra money to spend and I don't want to travel too far away from home and it's not so crowded. It's really one of the only places on Sutter close to me that we can sit down, have a meal and a beer. Everything else is burritos or sandwiches or pizza, so having a decent place like Fly is sort of refreshing, I just wish there were more places popping up in this area that had the same kind of concept, just executed a little better. Fly could be amazing I think with a little more work, but as for me right now, given the choice I'd rather walk a little farther to Polk Street and grub on something over there instead. Final word? 3 stars should really speak for itself. This place doesn't suck, its just not my favorite as far as overall vibe and quality go. It won't blow your socks off but you won't be left saying you'll never come here again.

You can't go wrong with the Fly Bar Happy Hours on any day of the week. Came on a late Sunday afternoon, roughly 4pm... everything's fine here, I guess. The food and drinks are adequate, but something in the items ordered left me wanting more. There is something tantalizing that's missing in the items, and that had me puzzled the whole night. Anyway, the menu has enough choices for basically anyone. Try the pizza, the artichoke dip, the buffalo wings, or nachos... great foods for sharing. If you have a team/group meet-up, this is hardly a bad option. The worst part of this place though, which causes me to remove 2 stars from the final rating, are restrooms. Those restrooms have the lowest lighting I've witnessed in a *long* time.. I can barely see myself in that garish, dull, red glow they call a lamp on the ceiling. And it smells very bad in the restroom. Where's the ventilation, Fly Bar staff?

Everything here except for the strawberry lager was sub par. I was excited for the $5 pizzas...but the one we ordered left a lot to be desired. Maybe we should have tried a different one? I don't know if I'm too inclined to try, considering the hummus was pretty flavorless and the goat cheese quesadilla was pretty mediocre as well.

This is a great little neighborhood bar. My husband and I stumbled in for an early dinner and some drinks one night while staying in San Francisco at the Carlton Hotel next door. Their food seems to be hit or miss, and as I understand it, this is a reincarnation of an old bar, so maybe it will just take some time to smooth out the ruffles. They also don't serve dessert yet, but I was told it's on the way. The prices are very reasonable for sandwiches, pizzas, and various appetizers. Their drink prices are also great, with some draught beers for $3, and a wide variety of other bottled and canned beverages. I ordered a ginger ale to start, and it wasn't just Canada Dry ginger ale, it was a nice bottled ginger ale! The space is cozy, open, and on Sunday night, not too crowded at all, which I like. If I were a local, I could see myself coming back for more laid back evenings.

The new Fly (or as someone that night started calling it, "Flutter", for Fly on Sutter) has preserved the great feel of Brick and added a more relaxed, accessible, and reliable menu. Sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, are delicious and filling and many dishes have an inventive flair. I had a Thai chicken pizza and loved it. Great beer selection, fun and laid back people, and good location. I have a feeling I am going to be spending a lot of time there. The shuffleboard table is a fun addition, though a little short, and I really hope they will find something fun to do with the additional space down the ramp. But, knowing what these guys have managed to do so far, I'm sure this place will continue to offer reliable good times in a comfortable neighborhood joint.

I came here once and it was for happy hour. So what. I like to drink and i like to eat. Here i can do both of them together. They have pizzas on the happy hour menu. 1/2 price for a bunch of different ones. I like pizzas. They are personal size ones. Plus they do specials on drinks too. $3 for draft beers is never a bad thing. The decor is pretty nice as well. I like the things hanging down from the ceilings in the back. I actually sat at the bar when i went. But there are tables as well. It can get pretty packed inside also for happy hour so you might want to try to get there early.

I like this bar. They have a great happy hour (pizza and beer) special and a big space to seat at the bar or grab a table. Plus they have a shuffleboard table in the front and a arcade room in the back. The back room we tend to take over whenever we are there - its like a little private room. Great place for a group of people. Only bad thing is the lighting in the bathroom. Low red lighting is not good - you can hardly see in there.

I am staying at the Hotel Carlton for a few days for fun, and I tried out Fly for dinner tonight. I caught the tail end of the happy hour (specials on drinks, and half price for the pizzas), and had a couple of ciders and a BBQ chicken pizza. I sat right at the bar, and the service was friendly, fast, and attentive. The cider was nice and cold, and the pizza was pretty darn good overall. The pizza had some sort of cute name, but it escapes me at the moment. It was a little light on the sauce, but the chicken was tender and tasty, and the red and green onions were obviously freshly cut. There would probably have been enough for two people, as long as you weren't both starving-- I couldn't finish it myself. The only thing that isn't awesome about this place is the bathroom. The ladies room was clean and properly stocked, but the only light was provided by a RED low wattage bulb. So, you couldn't see very well at all, much less fix your lipstick or powder your nose. Minor detail, but worth knowing before you go in. Speaking of minor details, a positive one is that they were playing music I really enjoyed-- I heard Arcade Fire, Joy Division, The Smiths... I don't know if it was satellite radio or an employee's playlist, or what, but I really enjoyed it. Another positive detail is the lovely coppery bar-- really pretty! Overall, I had a really good experience and I'd definitely come here again.

4 stars for the amazing food, and friendly service. It would have been 5 except they were playing music SO loudly we were shouting across the table to be heard. Plus we could hear other tables conversations as well. Turn down the music! Put try the nachos!

Fly is a happy addition to one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city- The Tendernob. Inhabiting the corner where Brick used to be, it's sure to become a local favorite. I was sad to see Brick go, but I'm happy to report that a better bar has emerged in its place. With a little paint and a couple of decorative updates, they improved on the already magnificent layout. Lots of seats, two hideaway locations and a square bar in the middle give plenty of space to people watch and mingle with friends. We went for the amazing happy hour special from 4-7 pm. Signature cocktails, draft beers and pizzas were half off. I tried a cocktail of dark rum, root beer and ginger syrup. It was fun to try and I nod at their originality, but I probably won't order it again. The pizzas were very delicious- perfect for one person and a handful could satisfy a group. It was extremely difficult to choose from their amazing list. Some toppings worth a chuckle, like the "MMM....Meat Pizza". The crowd was great. A good mix of Tendernob locals and unpretentious hipsters. A smattering of tattoos, a few suits, and a lot of casual. Near the end of the evening I spotted two girls at the bar that really didn't fit in. Nothing screams "I never had a real job and don't know how to treat people" than standing in the waiter's station and eating the garnish from the bartender's tray.

Great happy hour. Their pizzas are pretty amazing, and half off after work. Only real problem is that it's pretty crowded, so unless you get there early it may be hard to get a table. Caveat: there was a rumor amongst friends that the kitchen may or may not be the cleanest place in the world. They also have shuffleboard. Yay, shuffleboard.

For what it is - a casual, nice neighborhood bar with good food - Fly Bar gets it right. This is not a swanky lounge where you take your date when she's wearing a backless shirt. It is not an indie/hipster bar playing ironic cock-rock songs from the 70s. It's a totally reliable bar with solid food where you can usually find a seat, where the other people in the bar won't irritate you, and where the people working there will be as nice as can be. The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is the happy hour. I went with a friend recently and we ordered a pizza to share. They accidentally brought us the wrong one, which would have been fine because we didn't really care. The brought us the second pizza (after leaving the first), apologizing profusely along the way, even though we told them that we were fine with pizza #1. At that time pizzas were half off but, because we got one free, it was really like 75% off. Between that and the happy hour pints, we left and the bill was like $6. Or something comparably low and awesome. Victory!

Even though this bar is steps away from my apartment, i hadn't been here since it was previously owned. Nevertheless, stopped in for drinks and dialog with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to see that while the decor was similar, the high priced attitude and overdressed tendernob hipsters had been left behind for a cool, loungey vibe and a simplified drinks + food menu. it was late, so didn't get a chance to try any food, but the low-slung bar and welcoming warm wood interiors definitely made for a cozy atmosphere of catching up and people watching. will definitely be back more often.

Pretty good happy hour and easy to find (parking lot across the street, kind sketchy but it works). A casual joint with friendly bartenders and waitstaff. And excellent pizzas, which are a whopping $5 (or half-off, can't remember exactly) during HH which ends by 7pm. They didn't scoff when we ordered at 6:59:30. Thanks guys! Oh: there's a Watermelon beer: don't get it: it comes in a can and it's not even brewed in California. Boo waste of $4.

So Brick was one of my favorite restaurants in the city before the first chef left and they moved away from tapas. NO more crazy yummy buffalo wing lollipops with gorgonzola foam. I will dream about those things for years. But Fly is pretty damn, well, fly. Went for the soft-opening and one of the owners was behind the bar mixing up drinks...she was in town from Tampa, where she runs a sister bar, yet she remembered my name all evening. They also have shuffle board. Seriously. Good drinks, great location...it's really packed on weekends right now, but I think that will calm down in a month or two.

Tuesday night "catch up" dinner with the girl friends. Food: Nachos: delicious, I love their tortilla chips which are nice and warm and split 3 ways we were pretty full...this thing is huge! Fruit to nuts salad w/ chicken (gorgonzola, apple, walnuts): delicious salad, filling even w/o the chicken. The only minor complaint that the chicken slices were too big and awkward for a salad. Same amount of chicken in smaller pieces would have been more convenient. My friends both enjoyed their pizzas (funky chicken and southwestern) but were full from the nachos and took about half of each home. Service was a little slow but it let the 3 of us catch up. Yay! I'm a fan.

This is undoubtedly the best happy hour in the city. 3$ draught beers, half-priced cocktails, and half-priced pizzas. And these are not just any pizzas, but really really damn good pizzas. And they start at 9$. I got a Guinness on draught and an absolutely delicious personalized pizza for $7.50 TOTAL. What more needs to be said? Oh, I also struck up a conversation with some old San Francisco hippie lesbians who bought me a drink. Perfect place to go before a show at the Ballroom.

If this is anything like the Fly Bar on Divisadero it will fill up this Tendernob spot just vacated by Brick with a similar clientele (to its predecessor) and perhaps offer a decent happy hour to start at from this area. Will update once it opens.

The owners of Fly are recession-proofing their business, and good for them. They've taken a more finer-dining restaurant and turned it into a totally accessible comfy bar serving great food and good drinks. Bravo to you, smarties. I've been to the new Fly twice and have enjoyed both visits. The atmosphere is relaxed and mixed-older, younger, hipster, financial district types, bridge-and-tunnel...I think it depends on the time/day, but both visits I felt like the crowd was comfortable and mixed. Service both times was excellent. No complaints there. I've had the Mediterranean salad, which was delicious, and the warm spinach and bacon salad, which was even more delicious. The chicken skewers with Thai-style sauce were better in concept than execution. I look forward to trying their pizzas with salad on top. So kudos to the owners! You've opened a great solid bar/food concept. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time and $$ at your new establishment!

They could serve kitty litter and I'd give it four stars just for the shufflepuck. Props to these guys for taking a cool spot and making it slightly more accessible and really fun. I still like R bar when I'm in the black and don't mind bouncing around like a pinball between 1000 other patrons, but this spot is great for some food and hooch earlier in the eve. Cocktails were good and most importantly it didn't take too long to get one. Food was really tasty. I enjoyed the food at Brick, but would have to say that the price/quantity ratio was a bit off. At Flutter they have hit a much better balance of value. And as long as "Flutter" doesn't get morphed in translation to "Fluffer" I am all for the new nickname...

Great overall friendly neighborhood bar. Great pizza 1/2 off happy hour and mixed drinks, super friendly staff, and overall fun, lively atmosphere. Highly recommended for couples and groups alike- fairly easy to get one of the two larger tables to accomodate groups. Awesome beer selection!

Great place to come and have a drink and bar food with friends. Great for late night hanging out. It can get pretty packed Friday and Saturday nights so I tend to go in during the week days. Regardless the place is always fun.

Thank you Geeks VS Geeks for moving your SF trivia night to this marvelous place. Good drinks, amazing eats, friendly and patient wait staff, and a FREE ARCADE GAME in the back so you can play Millipede while you wait for your team to show up. Yay!

Honestly, I've only had the drinks here (not food) but it's such a chill atmosphere to hang out after work or even at night. The drinks are dirt cheap and the staff is super friendly. But I think it's safe to say this is our go-to place when my friends and i are being indecisive on where to go.

Since last night was the *official* grand opening, I feel compelled to weigh in as the first reviewer since the bar came out of beta. I was there with a bit of a krew, having an unofficial birthday celebration as an excuse to get together and try out the latest addition to the Fly Bar triumvirate (Divis, Tampa and now Tender Nob). The beer selection speaks for itself, phenomenal. I'm partial to the Tecate tall boys, but they have classier selections as well. The menu is exceptional for bar fare: classic choices with better than average ingredients. Maybe that's why it's called a bar & restaurant, not just a bar. I recommend the nachos. I can't say I played any video games, but apparently those are a big draw. Same goes for the shuffle board. If you are paying close attention to the wall hangings, then you're just antisocial. The place was full last night without being uncomfortable. The decor created a stylish but still laid back ambiance. In the end, I think it's really about the people, and Fly Bar created a great backdrop for my friends and I to celebrate. I plan to make the new location a regular happy hour spot. Unpretentious and reliable. Great for a neighborhood bar, but enough buzz for a weekend destination as well.

A great place for a meet-up with friends or just to grab a cold one at the end of the day. Good assortment of bar foods to accompany your drinks, pizzetas are pretty tasty and the right size. Service is fast, it is more spacious than it looks from outside, so the crowd factor isn't bad at all. I think they have a lot going for them, they just need more beers on tap. Overall more than satisfied, and you'll definitely see me in here again.

Came by here this past Wednesday and Saturday, but no Alan. He was the best bartender there. Not sure what the deal is, but not nearly as much fun now without him there to tell you a joke or light up your smoke.

Packed place. And I swore, only one waitress? Had to wait on her mostly, then her waiting on us. The place was pretty loud, so trying to hear someone talk, is a bit challenging. I think it was an okay spot. We ordered two pizzas. The Mmmm. . . .Meat and Shrooms pizza. It was alright, I guess. They were $9 each, but they also had appetizers, sandwiches and salads on their menu too. Beer selection was alright, but I'm not that impressed. And the bathroom, they had no toilet seat sheet covers. It was nasty, smelly, dark, dim and I felt like I was in the sewers. So, would I go back? Probably not, but at least I can say, I've been there and done that.

Great food, great service, extensive cocktail menu and some of the best times to be had await you here! Also hot bartender didn't hurt to look at ;) and the manager Davin made sure we had an exceptional experience. In fact, it was so good that we came back the next night and did it all over again just so we could try all the other good stuff on the menu! Do yourself a favor and give it a try...

Really decent well drinks but so bland are the surroundings that my tequila buzz was less than happy. The views out the expansive windows are good for afternoon people watching. The bar staff are civil but not chatty. More a tasteful and subdued spot than actually any fun.

Lived in San Francisco for 2 years and the worst possible dining experience ever. The only reason even for a 1 star is cause the pizza and beer special was really good. TERRIBLE service. Ordering our food was probably the easiest thing since we all knew what we wanted. The restaurant was really loud however so even when I asked for no onions, it still came with it. Whatever. The whole time the waiter didn't check up on us to see how we were doing. We had to flag him down several times. Even asking for water seemed like we were bugging him. Which wasn't even cold water. Then towards the end of the meal we ask if split the checks. He said no but that it was easy math and he could do it on all the cards. We get the bill and it takes forever for him to even come back and take the cards. We tell him 2 meals are on one card and the other 2 are individual. Not bitchy, just asking. He gets huffy and takes the cards while muttering loudly "Jesus Christ." He takes his tray around the bar and slams it into a bin and makes a bunch of glasses shake. Awkward glances between me and my friends. He drops the bill back off without a word. Wow. We are stunned. When we leave one of us goes back and asks him if there was a problem, he says no. She asks him why he muttered those words then. He says oh well I think there was a miscommunication, sorry if I was rude. That's it. Honestly, no one should have to feel like they are bugging someone by asking for water. And no one should have to feel as terrible as we all did when we left that place. Considering also that we weren't loud, obnoxious or rude at all. Sure, good happy hour but we definitely did not leave in good vibes.

Fly Bar is awesome as far as food and drinks go but the service sucks. Every time I order the usual La Tortilla salad and Watermelon wheat beer, it takes forever to get the bartender's attention! Even if they aren't that busy, they just don't look around. It's like they're high, lol. Overall, I love the ambiance, food, and drinks. Staff is okay. I give it 4 stars

A perfect date spot in Lower Nob Hill. I came here on a Friday night at 8PM, it was not crowded and not empty - which i liked a lot. The bartenders and servers were attentive and speedy. I had the 'Buzz Kill' - delicious!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a bar in the Tenderloin to kill time before a show. We didn't have cash, and many bars in the area only took cash. After consulting Yelp for ideas, we found Fly, and they took credit cards, so we ended up here for happy hour. We sat at the bar. We weren't sure if it was the cleaning solution they used to wipe down the tables, but it smelled like something fermented, and it wasn't very pleasant. The ambience was cool, though, and we really liked the wall art. He ordered a Moscow mule, and I had a sangria. We eventually ordered some appetizers, as we weren't super-hungry. We thought the fries were awesome and ate every single greasy fry in the spiral cone. We also ordered some wings, the spinach and artichoke dip, and the hummus plate. Everything was okay -- nothing really stood out. Out of all the bars we visited in San Francisco last weekend, this had the least personable bar crew. They weren't rude or anything, just not particularly chatty with customers.

This was a great place to grab dinner and drinks. If you are staying at Hotel Carlton be sure to have at least one meal here; you won't regret it. There are many great pizza options on the menu, and we could not decide between the Greek and the meat lover. We let our bartender pick for us and we were not disappointed with the meat lovers! The bartender herself was not amused with our happy personalities. Drinks were ok. Husband had a Moscow Mule and I tried the Buzz Kill off their menu. They were good, not the reason why I would return to this joint. The pizza and atmosphere (besides the cranky bartender) are a different story.

Cool yet unpretentious- this would be my hangout if I lived here. Bar food done well, good draft selection, cool music ( Pixies, White Stripes, etc), and downright reasonable prices for a city like SF.

Absolutely loved this place. Attentive bartenders, tasty cocktails, great sangria, and delicious pizza! If you're feeling fancy, they've got some bomb baked brie served with a warm and crispy baguette. Not to mention the staff is friendly and the vibe from this place is really laid back. Will definitely return!

Had the brick burger, it came with good toppings, quality fries (worth the $2 upgrade) and at a good price. Plus $5 for a pint glass of sangria is a steal.

Just the two of us, looking for a late night spot to enjoy a beer and catch up. Fly Bar was perfect for that. Very comfy and chill atmosphere, server did not bother us at all. He was super friendly, brought our drinks and let us soak up each others company. We had a PBR and a Crispin. Fly bar has a quaint wine cellar/room with big comfy chairs for lounging. I thought that was pretty neat

My coworkers and I needed a happy hour, and we realized we hadn't been here in a year! Our happy hour crew had grown since then, which is why we remembered Fly Bar and how accommodating this place is with large parties. We ordered three pizzas, two fries, baked brie, and wings. As for drinks, most of my coworkers split two pitchers of sangria. I wanted Guinness and cider but I was worried I wouldn't get it at the happy hour price. Luckily, that wasn't the case. I wish happy hour lasted longer.. but it's worth rushing out of the office to get here on time.

I randomly stopped into Fly for a quick drink and a chance to organize the rest of my day, as it was too early to check into the Hotel Carlton next door. Lucky for me, it was in the midst of Fly's midday happy hour, and I was able to get one of their House Creations -- the Kentucky Dropkick! -- for a meager $5. Even the $7 full price is easy to digest. I liked it so much that I returned the next day for another $5 happy-hour cocktail and decent-sized, lovely greek pizza for lunch, also $5. It may have been the first time I've *ever* wished food and drink in Sacramento was as cheap as it was in San Francisco. ;-)

This place is trendy and very noisy. We ordered the meat lovers pizza, when it was brought to our table all I could think was "where's the beef? Not very meaty to be considered a meat lovers pizza but it did have good flavor. The buffalo wings were just that, buffalo wings...nothing special. I had also ordered their sangria which was a little too sweet for me. All in all it was just ok b

Happy hour!!! $6 pizzas! Came here with 3 friends and got the pitcher of sangria & 2 pizzas! The pizzas were delicious and the drinks were good! Just wished happy hour would go on a little longer :) our server was also great, he kept coming to us and asking if we needed anything. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy around here so coming here at night, it's best to be with a group of friends. During our meal, a homeless lady actually came up to our table and asked us for some food. We gave her a nod but as we were about to hand her a slice, she touched all over our pizza. This should be regulated. We were willing to give her a slice but people shouldn't be touching strangers' food. Maybe the restaurant should regulate these things.

Their house burger was tasty but a little small for the price. It came with a huge platter of tiny, soggy, fries that weren't very good and tasted like they'd been frozen and thawed out. I would have loved to have had some real wedge-cut fries instead. My friends had a cheese pizza that was pretty good on the small side. Service was very good.

I'll keep this short and to the point. The bar food, specifically the pizzas are always good (3 cheese is my new favorite), I've had good experiences with a couple of the sandwiches as wells as the spinach & artichoke dish. It's not the creativity that sets Fly Bar apart, it's the execution. Everything is consistently well done and their staff is always welcoming. Oh, and last tip, I'm not a big sangria guy... But theirs is good! I'm a beer guy and I find myself ordering a pitcher for my gf and I. Check it out, I like going there on a weekend mid-day when it's not terribly crowded.

Dropped by here before an event at Hemlock in search of good eats and drinks - we were not disappointed. A bit awkward of an arrival initially - to the best of my knowledge, there is no host, and it's a "seat yourself' kind of situation, so be on the prowl for a table you want. DRINKS. They have a pretty extensive selection of beers/liquors/etc, with a lot of fun combinations dubbed "Professionals" aka a shot and a beer. I stuck with a delicious Belgian ale, however, to spare myself. For food, the pizzas are most definitely where it's at. SHROOM PIE. Adorned with portobello mushrooms (less than I would've liked, sadly), mozzarella and jack cheeses, and drizzled with pesto. A little light on the toppings, but quite delicious.. BLANCO. 100% my favorite, seriously - garlic sauce with cheese, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, and scallions. This was very generous with toppings, and had huge bursts of flavor. GET THIS. MMMMM...MEAT. Nothing terribly special but still pretty good - sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, green peppers and mozzarella. Reminded me of any standard meat lover pizza. FOGHORN LEGHORN (SANDWICH) Unfortunately a little dry for my taste, but the combination was good - roasted chicken, bacon, tomato pesto, guacamole and provolone. My biggest complaint was just that the food was dry - the pizzas could've been saucier, the sandwich could've used way more pesto and a fresher bun. Overall, though, some truly delicious food, and with an awesome happy hour (that we missed by 30 minutes, sadly). If in the area and craving an easy bite to eat, check it out!

I've been here twice over the past month and loved the food each time! I'd definitely recommend the Thai Basil Chicken Pizzetta, which is basically salad on a pizza. The peanut sauce gave the pizza a sweet taste (I know it's supposed to be spicy, and it was that too - but it was more sweet), and the salad, tomatoes, and cucumber made the pizza refreshing. The Book 'Em Dano was also yummy - it had a nice kick to it from the chili, and the pineapple and ham balanced it out nicely. Wings are also delicious. Staff were friendly even though it was clear they had a lot on their plates (the place was packed!). I have to say that it was a bit awkward coming in at first, as you're expected to seat yourself but this isn't immediately obvious. I didn't come for Happy Hour, but I'd definitely recommend doing so: $5.95 pizzas are a steal!

Who doesn't like pizza? Better yet who doesn't like 50% off pizza- well that is what you will get at Fly Bar's Happy Hour. Their happy hour is from 12- 6:30 everyday except Monday and the pizzas are around $5.99 plus tax and $4 sangrias and I believe $3 beers ( don't quote me on that one). For the price of the pizza, it's a pretty good size. It's about a medium sized pizza. I shared it with my friend and we still had left overs. It's also not a little ceasar type pizza- it taste fresh and ready to order. They have so many different flavors as well, I had meat lover's dream and it was so good, I'm already planning to order the funky chicken next time since I didn't get to order it *mhmm mhmm mhmm. I will definitely be back!

The husband and I go to Fly Bar pretty regularly, mostly on Sundays, but always during the day. Seriously, it makes the best spot for lunch when a lot of similar places are closed. I always get a beer and their tasty "La Tortilla" salad with chicken.

Stopped by after realizing it was a sister restaurant to a place back home in Tampa. Totally different menu which made it a treat. Cool atmosphere and the seats by the window are great for people watching inside and outside of the bar. They have some interesting bottle cap art on the walls. The food was pretty good. We had chips with guac and salsa and a pizza. The salsa was fresh made and the hubs liked it a lot. The pizza was ok, but probably wouldn't order that one again - they had an interesting selection to choose from though. The cocktails were also creative.

The food here is tasty, and I love the $5 pizza happy hours. I also a fan of their brick burger and various dips. The service is often slow, and I have at times walked in and waited for up to ten minutes before someone working there appeared. However, other than the occasional wait, service has generally been good. I often come here for takeout. Can't comment on the bar itself since I've never ordered drinks here nor have I stayed for very long.

This place has an excellent happy hour if you can make it! Fresh pizzas for around $5-6 during happy hour! Great fruity flavored Sangria with a kick. They have a ton of other mixed drinks that are delish! They have a full bar. Fresh guacamole but the chips are basic! Blah! The rest of the appetizers are around $5 as well. I've easily ordered too many at once. Don't get excited. Start slow. Lol! I wish I could've come to this place more when I lived in the neighborhood. They have cool decorations & a good atmosphere. It's pretty busy during happy hour so come early to grab a table. It's kind of dark inside the place but I loved just looking around at the neat things on the wall. This place has a younger crowd (20's-30's) so it's a cool place for young professionals to come after work. I definitely want to go again.

Wow. It has been 5 years since I updated my review on Fly. Back in 2009 I think they had just opened and the staff was almost completely different. Over the past 5 years, I have become a Fly Bar "regular" and can honestly say that this place is just the freakin best, if you are looking for a casual atmosphere with great drinks, fun food, and friendly staff. How much do I love everything about Fly? Well, how about this... so much so, that my fiance at the time and I decided to have our wedding reception there! Seriously! We rented the whole place out on a Saturday night and did open bar, open menu, chose some food items that were out "buffet style" and let people party. It was the best night of my life. The manager at the time, Davin, was completely on top of everything, and the bartenders and servers grinded hard and pleased everyone. I can't tell you how much I love Fly. Whether hungover on a Saturday afternoon, or hitting this place up after a hard day at work on a Tuesday, this is my place. The staff is friendly and hard working. A few bartenders/servers who have been there quite a while now stand out. If you ever deal with Karen, Emily or Courtney, know that you are in great hands. And still to this day, you CANNOT beat their happy hour special. $5.95 for a delicious pizza before 6:30. Seriously? I don't think you could get a shitty fast food meal for that much. I recommend their cheese pizza (it has chevre on it, mmmm!) or the Jimmy the Greek! Oh, and if you like wings, get their wings. You won't be disappointed!!

An absolute must for a late night meal! My boyfriend and I had been planning a weekend getaway back to San Francisco as my birthday present. After shopping in Union Square, going to the Giants vs. Dodgers game, and freezing our asses off at Twin Peaks, we were both starving. We decided that we should check out the restaurant next to our hotel (Hotel Carlton) . We came in at about 11:30 pm and were greeted by a man in the front, who also asked to see our ID's. We explained to him that we just wanted a quick bite to go and he let us in! We ordered the Shroom Pie. DELICIOUS!! The crust wasn't too thin, and the pizza was the perfect size for two! (Especially at 11:30). A definite must for a late night meal and the perfect spot for a night out!

I try to reserve five starts for places that I can confidently say that if you go to that place you will enjoy yourself. With that in mind, this is one of my most confidence five star reviews. I have only been to the Sutter Fly Bar as I frequent this area more so I can't speak to how this transfers over to the other one. To start I want to get right into the food. The food is freaking delicious. I don't know what kind of magic they have going on back in that small kitchen but the food that comes out of there is so hearty and satisfying. My mouth is filled with cheese and meats and I have a huge smile on my face no matter what I order. My favorite would have to be the Carmel Blue pizza. All of the pizzas are great and you should take the opportunity to order them. I am not a huge tomato fan and this place has some great alternatives to tomato sauce so I love them for that. White Sauce for life yo. There are also salad and pizza combos which are great as well if you want something a little lighter. You also can't sleep on any of the sandwiches and salads as well. Just a great all around menu of American favorites. The portions are absolutely huge and you will leave full. The service is actually another five star aspect of this place. No matter how packed it is and it is usually packed every night the waitresses are great they act like they have been here before which is my main problem with places that get too crowded. The staff at some places can act like they have never been swamped before but here one waitress can effortlessly glide from five top to two top and straddle working 8 to 10 tables no problem. You don't feel left out and if it is taking too long they understand you stopping them as asking for something. No matter when you walk in and can find a seat someone will be there to help you. I love a place that is reliable. A place that if I bring friends or a date that has never been there I am going to get that same great service and smile that I told them to expect when they come in with me. Its why I will always come back here for small gatherings like that. As for the drinks those are even better. There is a diverse cocktail menu a small and simple beer menu. It may not be as crafty as some people like but it is still great. They also have fresh made Sangria that is very cheap and very effective. Its refreshing and worth taking a few glasses to get to know. The decorum is very artsy with paintings hanging and sequins everywhere. There is ample seating but I would suggest getting a seat at the bar as you can get everything there and usually even quicker than sitting at a table. The candles help out there though and even when you are seated next to a lot of people it can still feel intimate. On paper nothing seems like it is out of this world at Fly Bar but the combination of everything working right makes it a no brains five star location. Whether its a quick drinks with buddy to watch the game and have some beers or a romantic evening over wine and food with the date it is a great default place to start the night. Head here before a night of mistakes and regrets on polk street and it will be one part of your night you actually want to remember.

PIZZA!!! After starting off at the Hopwater, we decided to walk over to Fly Bar so we'd have some room to spread out with the big group we had. On a Wednesday night, it was not busy at all- probably got there around 9p and we were able to get a huge table off in the corner for the 12 of us to fit. The staff was great and got us started with waters before getting food and drinks started. The Pizza was amazing! I forget exactly which one we had (and the site is down right now so I can't figure it out) but it was BBQ Chicken-ish and it was a good play with the beers and other drinks we had.

I love this place, it's one of my favorite spots by my house. Their happy hour is great and their pizza is amazing! The absolute best thing about this place is the grilled cheese, it is truly the best grilled cheese I've ever had and I keep coming back for it. The staff is always nice and they have tvs to watch games, but it's never too loud for when I want to come in and just read, definitely recommend this place!!

Nice chill spot that serves good food! We stopped by Fly Bar after having a couple of drinks a few stores down. We came here for... More drinks, DUH! Oh and for the food of course! Their pizzas are delicious and are reasonably priced! The artichoke and spinach appetizer was good also! Their drinks menu has a lot of beer options and their own signature drinks! My friends and I definitely enjoyed them. Props to the only girl working the front of the restaurant that day... She was answering calls, taking orders, and serving a busy restaurant!

Why haven't I been writing any reviews lately? Uhhh because I either keep going to the same places or been a turtle hiding in its shell. Reason I came here was for my co-workers going away party. Happy hour is the best when your with the people who you spend 80% of your time with!! am I right? time to get loose and start acting nonprofessional LOL -true factor. Let me start off by saying HH starts 330p-630p with half price pizzas=$5.95, $3-beers, sake cocktails, and sangria. To eat we started with 2 shroom pie's, 1 carmel blue, the funky chicken and the pesto-yes 5 pizzas which came with 6 slices per pizza and 7 people. Was that enough? Hell ya... Alcohol please!! two pitchers of sangria and shots baby!! Very observant of my co-workers as they know how to party, as I sat back and enjoyed the laughter. Any questions? peace!! The likes: Chill hang out Happy hour Ambiance-It's a bar not a foo foo spot Good times Pizza worthy

Food is OK. We had the wings, nachos, their salad pizza, and meat pizza. Service is really slow. There were only 2 servers the Friday night we went.. and the place was super packed. It is very popular. It's more of a Cheers vibe, not trendy or hipster. Just ok.

It wasn't that busy but still very loud. The waitress was very nice and helpful , although she was the only one and it took a bit to get service. Once I ordered the food it was quite quick. I ordered the tuna melt sandwich which was very good and fresh. It comes with home made fries which I liked , it was a little dry but still tasted good. I did get my food with no utensils or napkins and needed to wait for a while. All together it's a very pleasant bar & restaurant with good atmosphere and good food .

Staying next to this restaurant in a hotel, walked around a few blocks before coming back. Not welcoming from outside but server was sweet, food was great, sangria was awesome! Try the pizza with salad on top, delicious! I'm sure during our stay in SF we will be back again.

With its contemporary look for a bar, good selections of bar drinks as well as food, sports' channel TV, spacious seating and dining, you can call me a fan. A recommended and commendable place to bring a social group, to kick back, grab some refreshments and relax. Whether it is for an occasion, wanting to linger here for a couple of hours or simply to eat, this bar is indeed a pretty Fly Bar!

Great neighborhood bar with amazing employees and food. Happy hour food is stellar deal for the prize. ( $5 for pizzas) shut up and eat it. Place is spacious too.

This place is right next door to the Hotel Carlton, which I stayed in for 4 days. I read the great reviews, and after a long week of training at my new job, I called in an order to go. I ordered the goat cheese/chicken quesadilla and a side salad. The quesadilla was yummy, and a big sized portion. The salad was fresh and yummy. The dressing was super thick, didn't like that. The bartender was very friendly, and asked me if I wanted a drink while I was waiting. i told her no, as my hotel has free wine hour! Yipee, free is good! All in all good service, good food. I would definitely try drinks and other food next time i come to SF!

I heard Fly had good food and a wide variety of beers so we had to check it out. There was no hostess so we were a bit confused if we could sit ourselves. Once we found a table the waiter looked confused. Apparently this place is known for not having good service. I had a beer and we ordered a bunch of food. Wings- Good, spicy, big Salad- HUGE portion for half and it was good. They put some hard ass stale bread on the side. Shroom pie- it was good but it'd taste a lot better without the pesto Guacamole- it wasn't freshly made but it wasn't bad either Spinach dip- don't know why they serve it with bread instead of chips but it was okay. Fries- OMG delish! I'd come back again, this time i know what to expect.

Anytime I'm free before 4pm I find myself heading toward Sutter and Larkin, happy hour is noon until 6:30. If I'm indecisive I'll have a Swearing Sailor cocktail to wash down my dinner plate sized Shroom Pie. I also never seem to go wrong with the Buffalo Wings which have a balanced spiciness. Come to thing of it, I've never gone wrong with any selection from the menu, food or drink!

We were drinking in this bar morning, noon and night, well I was drinking and my boyfriend was impatiently sighing. This girl likes to drink , and being on vacation is the perfect excuse to get sloshed before night fall, The drinks were very reasonable. All of the bar tenders we encountered were absurdly nice and I saw something that I have only seen one other time in Pittsburgh, a black male bartender. Anyone staying at the Hotel Carlton you are in for a treat to have such a fabulous bar so near the hotel.

Absolutely fell in love with this place! Good unique food, good vibes and great service. If you are staying at the hotel, give it a try you won't be disappointed. Definitely will recommend and return!

Way more spacious than their Divisadero location. Fly Bar's second home has way more seating and has a nice middle bar setup going for it that makes getting a drink easy from the bartenders. There's also a room in the back for larger parties or for people who want a bit more privacy on slow nights to chill in. Although this location has more space, it kind of loses its homey, intimate appeal the other one has. Like their other bar, the menu offerings appear to be the same as well as their fairly large beer selection. The taps offered were a bit limited but most people won't notice. Friendly bartenders, a great neighborhood spot for its area.

Used to live in S.F, off Post and Hyde, would walk up to Ace's Bar, and head over to Fly Bar for happy hour, awesome pizzas, all kinds of great offerings. I would highly suggest visiting this restaurant, whether called the Brick or whatever the name. The bar seating is really incredible, ambience just right, far enough from Polk St. shot-bar/pick-up scene to accommodate more mature, yet youthful crowds, and not to say I've not had few raucous/rowdy nights there. As much as the TL gets a bad name, and it's not all that bad, this space gives it a better name. This place is a no-brainer, just visit and expect to enjoy.

I had high expectations for this place because it looked pretty cool in the pictures and when I would walk by. However I was not that impressed after trying it. Not that it was horrible but there are much cooler places to grab a drink or food in this area. Prob wont come back again or if I do it wont have been my choice. Sorry Fly.

This place is ok for what it is, I'm not usually impressed with their food but since I live close by it is good for when I need grub after 10pm. The decor is nice, but feels a bit Ikea big boxy. I like the glitter painting and the star lamps. Decent beer selection, and I hear happy hour is a great deal.

  • Brittany S.

They have a really great happy hour menu. Go during happy hour: $5 pizza, beer and cocktail specials. Gets pretty busy at night and is a place in the neighborhood that doesn't disappoint. It is more of a bar, don't expect a restaurant, expect a bar with food and you will be satisfied. Never had bad service here and the artichoke dip is delish. Atmosphere is pretty relaxed, they have some really interesting art on the walls as well.

The Blanco pizza had become a favorite! Their happy hour (12-6:30pm) is such a great deal. A nice sized gourmet pizza for about $5!

This was the first spot we hit on our trip to San Fran. Came in late Saturday afternoon and the poor bartender was trying to manage the whole place on her own (server was late). I was happy with the service though... especially after the free beer. Nachos were really good and their Shroom pie was tasty with the drizzle of pesto. Not the greatest selection of tap beers but plenty of bottles and cans to choose from.

Absolutely nothing special about this place. I ordered what the bar tender told me was "a great tuna melt". It was edible. That's about all I can say. The fries and sandwich had little flavor and the ambience lacked personality. It's a very forgettable bar with little more to offer than any average bar/restaurant in America. It's like a hipster Applebee's.

Pretty cool place! Honestly, I had my doubts when my friend Matt suggested that we have a drink here, since it's located in the Tenderloin, which can be a less-than-savory neighborhood. I was happily surprised to see that Fly Bar is clean and cozy, with awesome bartenders and a great menu. The crowd was mostly young folks, and shockingly NOT packed with hipsters (as far as I could tell, at least). They do serve food as well: appetizers, pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. They serve a plethora of tasty beers (mostly in bottles or cans), but they have six on tap. You could literally have a different cerveza every day for a month if you wanted. I didn't try any of their food options, but I had a pint of lager and chatted away aimlessly with my friend. The exposed brick on the back wall was lovely. I would love to have an apartment with exposed brick walls. Guess a little part of me wants to live in NYC, but I don't think I want to leave the Bay Area for a long time.

We were in San Francisco for a weekend and stayed at the Hotel Carlton next door. While trying to decide what to do on our first day we spotted this gem and decided to have a beer to help us think :) Very cute little bar with a great selection of beer and cocktails. We tried the goat cheese quesadilla and it was great! Stopped in a couple more times throughout our weekend and were sad to have to leave both the spot and the city.

Found it here on yelp. Not much on the menu besides pizza and sandwiches. Beer selection okay. Service not so good. Worst part was the place smelled like a dairy parlor(where you milk cows(a barn)). To many choses to go their again.

Good service and nice ambiance but the food is just okay. The pizza is like a chain restaurant and the salad was also underwhelming. The other reviews are generous in nature.

I met Jimmy The Greek here. You should meet him if you're into pesto and artichokes. If you like mushrooms and pesto I recommend the Shroom Pie. During each of my visits the bartender was a friendly redhead who offered great suggestions about their cocktail menu. I'm a fan of the Kentucky Dropkick and the Laid Back and the Gumshoe.

A great place to meet up with friends, or to meet new ones. This place packs lots of regulars- always a good sign- who seem welcome to having a few more join the crowd. The menu has good standard American gastropub fare and pizzas. I got a side salad with my sandwich and was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the greens. (Definitely not something I am used to getting at the normal deep-fry-anything-that's-edible gastropub.) Classic Bloody Mary's with black pepper on the rims bring some heat, and the beer selection is solid (although most of that solidness comes in a bottle or a can, as opposed to on tap). Long story, short, I'm glad that I moved into the neighborhood. The Fly Bar just became my go-to joint.

I have to give them props. They made good drinks. I love those little cherries that come in the burbon drinks. I'm a sucker for them. I didn't even like burbon until I discovered them. Really... The food is solid. I always seem to get something when I go. I appreciate a bar that has food, as I don't like drinking without a little something to snack on. It's really nice that they have that to offer. Their pizzas range from a little unusual (salady-thai) to the norm (meat with more meat) but are always good. They have hummus and other snacks for the lighter side, which is great. The wait staff has been super nice every time I have gone. Sometimes they are packed and you have to wait a bit, but that's understandable. It gets busy. No worries. I get my drink, and they smile. No problems at the bar either. I end up here at least once a month, and I'll keep coming back. It's a good place to hang out, you should try it out.

Came here for the happy hour and it was great. All the pizzas including the more expensive ones with a salad on top were only $6!! The drinks were great too. I orders some refreshing punch drink that I can't remember the name of, but it was delicious and also only $5 for the happy hour! The pizza was a good size, as a girl I can easily share with another, but as a guy they can devour the whole thing. I think it is worth the price. Pizza and drink for a nice happy hour is great. The place was very nice. Well lit, nice art, clean! we couldn't have asked for more. The service was slightly slow because it looks like it was basically ran by one person, but it was still decent. She was still friendly, helpful, and went as quickly as she could. We are glad we stumbled into this place. It was well worth our time and money.

More like 3.5 stars, the best thing there are the bartenders, the food is run of the mill american food, i.e., pizza, sandwiches, salads and wings. I'd wish they'd change it up a bit the menu is kinda old, the drinks are good but the bartenders and wait staff are the best things about this place.

This place used to be my local bar. The service is great. The staff is friendly and they poor their drinks strong. The food portions are huge, like bible belt waistline huge. So brace yourself when dining alone. They just remodeled the interior, ditching the barney theme colors and opting for a sophisticated Grey to compliment their beautiful brick wall. I'm pleased with Flys progress and wish I lived near here still so I could haunt the staff more regularly.

We were staying next door at Hotel Carlton. With all the options in SF, we were a little overwhelmed with selection and decided to stay close by. Good choice. This place has all the food you may need and great drinks too at a reasonable price. Their little pizza's are tasty and they have a bunch of small bites options. It was good because after a day of walking around the city for work, its good to be right next to your hotel when you're a little buzzed ;). Nice people, a little slow if it gets crowded. Sit near the bar.

Happy hour that starts at noon? Count me in! I was there on a Saturday afternoon. Not too many people, but starting filling up by the time we left at about 6pm. The happy hour deals rock. The pizzas are $5.95, and they can easily feed 2 people. Perfect light, crispy crust and fresh and plentiful toppings. Drafts are $1 off as well as some house specialty drinks. I got a Jack and Coke(they were generous on the Jack). Then finished with the American Dream: a shot of Jack with a PBR chaser. The bartender was friendly and super attentive, coming back to check on us without being intrusive. The decor is modern, yet warm. Exposed brick walls with awesome bottle cap artwork. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area!

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner and everything was great from our food to great service for our party of 15. Parking is close, right across the street and $2 for every half hour, which isn't too bad considering that free/cheap parking is scarce in the city. Also it's good to know that your car is being looked after. They have good selection of beer and cocktails on their menu and for $4 for a pint of Lagunitas Pils, I thought was a great deal (non-happy hour pricing) for a restaurant in the city that restaurants usually charge $5 and up for. I ordered the Foghorn Leghorn ($9.50), a chicken pesto sandwich with a good sized mixed greens salad with a light dressing instead of fries (gotta eat healthy!) My only complaint here would be that the ambiance is loud and you have to raise your voice to be able to hear the person across from you. I will definitely be back if I ever find myself in this part of town again and check out their happy hour.

Dude! This place is totally cool! Just randomly landed on this place after trying to figure out what to eat. We decided to get beers instead of eating.... But thank goodness there was FOOD!!!!!! Here's what we got: Pizza: greasy greasy!!! Yum! Ate it all!! Spinach Salad: greasy greasy!!! Yup finished that too! We also got some sangria! Plus, it was happy hour! Score!!!! Bill came out to be like $25 including tip for two people. Not bad at all! **overall: happy hour sangria!! Cannot go wrong!

After a drink at Wreck Room, my friend insisted that the nachos at Fly Bar could not be missed. So off we went to Fly Bar to acquire some "life changingly good" nachos. They weren't actually life changing, but they were good. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed. Our bartender and waiter was super friendly and attentive, and they had happy hour going on even in the middle of the day on Sunday. Love this place!

The menu here is not friendly for gluten free. But, they are aware of the problem and willing to work with you on it, so no minus stars. For the gluten eaters, pizza was good. Fries were a little meh, but there's a wide variety of clever drinks, reasonably priced. Our heavily tatooed server was a cheerful, accommodating fellow. Will go back.

This place for sure has some of the best bar food around! Their wings and nachos are on point! And the drinks are very well made. The only issue I have is the cleanest of the bar and bathrooms. Their bathrooms tend to smell terrible and are constantly out of toilet paper. The bar top as well always seems to smell musty. To me, it seems like they are using a dirty/old towel to wipe down the bar in between customers. Invest in a new towel and some cleaning products!

Came here at the suggestion of friends after a failed cognac tasting event where our reservations were royally screwed up. You'll probably see no less than five hookers on the street corners during your walk over here, so be warned, you're making the choice to libate in "that" part of town. That all said, this is a good place for groups to get together for pitchers of sangria, classic cocktails, and late night nibbles. The place has a nice ambiance, features cool mirror decorations, and some pretty pretentious hipster music. I guess you guys know the way to my young, alcoholic heart.

I was extremely disappointed by Fly Bar. I drive by it every week and have been dying to try it after seeing the lines of people outside and the cool lighting inside. We were initially told to sit where we like so the three of us grabbed an empty table for four. The server came over and before even greeting us she said we would have to switch so that the three of us were squeezed around a table for two. Our table for four was split into two tables and I sat in between the two tables. It was so tight that I had to move the candle on the table behind me so that it wouldn't catch my hair. Had they been so busy that they desperately needed that table, I wouldn't have been so bothered, but no one sat at the little table of two behind us the whole time. The food was okay. We shared the Margherita pizza, Brick burger, and Foghorn Leghorn sandwich. The burger was good. It was a little over priced for a basic burger, but no complaints. The pizza was bland with mediocre tomatoes. The Foghorn Leghorn was the best part. That was a good sandwich. The interior was really neat with fun lighting and pictures on the walls. There is even a shuffleboard table in the bar and a pool table in the back. The bathrooms were grungy. If I return it will be just for drinks and to try out the shuffleboard table. It certainly won't be for the service or the food.

This place was right by our hotel and stopped for a quick bite during happy hour. There was a crowd but still plenty of room for us. Food was amazing for a local bar. Spinach dip, pizza and fruit n nut salad. To die for! Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive. Great HH prices. Definitely a must if in the mood for a coold beer and a delish pizza pie.

decent american style bar/pub. the french fries are seven dollars! i can't even think clearly at this point so all caps is a must. seven f_cking dollars for a potato dunked in oil. think about it. a potato cost on the high end $1.00, and that is for some machapichu grown, organically farmed potato that was shipped first class on virgin air laying on a pillow that is sitting on kate upton's legs. please rethink this.

Came here for dinner with my roommate and her boyfriend. Casual, laid-back vibe-we ventured over on a Monday night and there was plenty of seating. We were all happy with the menu selection-salads, lots of appetizers (spinach and artichoke dip, wings, quesadillas, nachos, etc.), and dinner items. We all got the brick burgers cooked medium rare. I liked the burger at first but it got a little dry towards the end. I substituted the salad for fries and was pleased I did. The service was kind of slow but I will acknowledge that the watiress was also working hard as one of the only bartenders. My roommate and I shared a small pitcher of sangria. It was good but nothing mind-blowing. Like the Yelp description says, "A-OK."

4-5 star spot for a few reasons: - Great crowd. Lot's of locals. Friendly. Not drunken sods. - Staff is so friendly. Very good service. - Happy hour deal - $5 pizzas. These aren't crappy pizzas. They're full of yummy gourmet ingredients. Good vege options. - Big bar with lots of seating. Plus nice rectangular layout so you can easily checkout everyone at the bar.

Defs NOT a gastropub. Defs a bar that has food. Defs a bar that smells like a urinal tablet. Was NOT impressed, and was shocked that people had yelped and defined this place as a gastro-pub. FYI, kids, a gastropub is more than mediocre food being served along with unoriginal drinks in a dark room. This is a dive bar, more than a gastropub, and because we chose a table up the little stair, we were greeted not by a friendly server but by the rank scent of what I can only imagine were the bathrooms. The GOOD news is that we bounced after one (too strong and mediocre) drink, and found UpCider, which kicks ass. So, thanks for that?

This place was pretty chill. We dominated the shuffle board and had a great time doing it. Ordered a ton of apps and all shared them. The nachos were really good and so were the pizzas! Mmmmm. Also had sangria which was really good too. This place is not too bad in price and it has a calm chill atmosphere in the early evenings. Never came here at night but I would not mind going and checking it out.

I was meeting up with some friends for happy hour and we decided to drop into Fly Bar. While we waited for another friend to get off work, we kicked things off with a few of their Hef's on tap, which we sampled with both lemons and oranges. Truth be told, I actually enjoyed the oranges much more, and will be drinking mine with them from now on. As an appetizer, we opted for the chips and dip plate, which at $6, only came with a tiny cup of salsa and guacamole. The guac was tasty, but it was clear that the broken chips just came out of a bag. C'mon, I know they can do better than that! Fly Bar is popular for their pizza's, so we each decided to order one and share. We got the Shroom Pie, Mmm Meat, The Funky Chicken, and the Blanco. I think we all agreed that the mushrooms were our favorite, with the others close behind. At only about $6 each (happy hour price), they were a great deal and filled us up as we chatted through the evening. Service was a bit slow as the restaurant was painfully understaffed, but luckily we had great company to keep the conversation going. The ambiance is great and the people around us were a ton of fun. I can't wait till the next happy hour session with our little group and will definitely be getting a lot more pies. Food: 7/10 Service: 6/10 Price: $$ Atmosphere: 9/10

My army guy friend brought me here. I love this place. Their food are superb. My soldier ordered the overstuff spinach pizza and it's delish. Their cosmopolitan are delicious too. The place were pretty crowded and the setting of this bar is very welcoming. I would want to come back here again next time I visit with him....I love it that i was the only asian the night I came down there :)) not only that it was the amazing bar but I was with my amazing date.

Pretty solid late night bar and lounge. Stayed at the Hotel Carlton up the street and this was right next door. I loved the beer selection. I ordered the Blanche de Bruxelles beer, a favorite Belgian beer of mine. I ordered a pizza, the chicken with just a little bit of bbq sauce. I am not into the overly sweet for my pizza. The hamburgers also look pretty good, but I didn't try it. I would come back for the Happy Hour Special and tasty beer selection.

Fly bar is the spot you wanna be at. Great place to grab a bite and a beer with a buddy or two. Recommend grabbing the chicken nachos. Plenty of space to sit. They have tables for two or 8, there's seating at bar as well. Also good enough spot for a date. The food is good, especially the pizzas. Pizzas are individual but big enough to share with another person. Beer selection is pretty extensive. They also have sangria. The ambiance is laid back during the week but it's a bit more lively on weekends. Great place overall. And the best thing is that it's inexpensive. Cons: Slow service. You usually have to grab the bartenders attention. Food may take a while to come out. Only one TV.

Great pizza and service but I have to say that there was a but of sticker shock when we saw the price of the French fries - $7. Yes. That's not a type-o SEVEN DOLLARS. Listen, I will pay $7 for fries of they are smothered in gravy and amazingness. Unfortunately, these were just salty stale French fries.... Sad. Everything else was great but it pained me to pay more for the fires than for the great pizza.

Great food (amazing happy hour!!) and tasty drinks. First time I came here I was impressed with the service, second time, not as much. However, they were much busier second time around, so that could be it. But honestly, for a neighborhood happy hour spot, I will definitely be back. Plus, I loved the funky handmade artwork on the walls and the open floorplan.

This place was soo good! Good atmosphere. Good service and a good crowd. We got the goat cheese quesadilla which was amazing! Also ordered the BBQ pizza and the Hawiian. Which were equally good. Tried 3 different speciality drinks. The sangria was ok. I don't remember the other two but they had interesting taste to them. Definitely thinking outside the box. Would definitely go back! Price was good too.

Oh shoot, looks like I wrote a review for the wrong location. The owner was kind enough to send a message to let me know, so I thought I'd return the favor and give everyone a heads up that I went to the Fly Bar on Divisidero. Whats the difference? Sutter doesn't serve Sake. Anyone look'n for sake bombs should head over to Divis though!

Was here for a friends birthday dinner, aside from finding decent or affordable parking which is a task, the place looks and feels "San Francisco" to me... the lighting was good, ambiance etc was good, great beers and great wines, I ordered the "book em Dano" pizza which is the Hawaiian style, decent price for a decent size, just don't have too many drinks as the drinks are pricey after happy hour, I may come back again for happy hour after I find cheap parking. Good Job here I had to subtract the 5th star due to parking, perhaps an East Bay location would be great?

We came here for dinner because we had just missed happy hour (ends at 6:30pm). The regular prices are still very reasonable though for the quality of the food. SERVICE: Service was great. Friendly bartenders and waiters. We were seated at the bar but the waiters were still very attentive to our needs. FOOD: Chick Stix - $9 (skewered chicken breasts w/spicey peanut dipping sauce & a side of mixed greens salad) -Good portions: came w/ at least 6 skewers. The chicken was very juicy! The salad was a decent size too. Pizza - Shroom Pie (portabello mushrooms, mozzarella and jack cheeses, finished with pesto) -The pizza crust was perfect! Thin crust but with just the right amount of crisp. Good portions even though it's a personal-sized pizza. Lots of toppings on the pizza. It was fairly crowded on a Friday night and noise level is moderate since it's more of a bar than a restaurant. Overall, great place for happy hour and for a quick/casual dinner. Come during happy hour...pizzas are 1/2 off!

I was in San Fran this last weekend for a training conference and decided to check out Fly Bar. I was walking the streets with my co-worker and used my trusty iPhone to find a place to eat. After a quick review of options Fly Bar was our selection. The general layout and atmosphere was very chill and enjoyable. We chose to sit at the bar and we were greeted by the bartender. I regret not catching his name, but he was an African American fellow with dreads. From the start I was thinking this was going to be cool. He was friendly and told us about the happy hour specials. We each ordered a drink and a couple pizzas and a chicken nachos. Well he had to ask me again what my drink order was after we placed our food order... no biggie. Well he came back a few minutes later and asked me again. The drinks came and they were flippin delicious. I had the sour cherry punch and my co-worker ordered the dark and stormy. Our Nachos came, but the chicken was missing. Not wanting to be a bother I told the guy who brought the nachos that it would be cool if he would just bring us some chicken and we would toss it on top. The Nachos were seriously some of the best nachos I have ever eaten. The pizzas came out a few minutes later and I would rate them as slightly above average. The bartender who took our order NEVER came back to us. We saw him the entire time we were there because he walked by about a billion times. Oh wait... he did lean over to place the bill in front of us while he was talking to someone else. One of the other workers noticed we were sitting their waiting to pay and he took care of ringing us up. Now listen... I get that the place is kindof a happening bar so I would DEFINITELY expect to get a little ignored if I was at a table. We were AT THE BAR... all he had to do was glance our way as he walked by and check on us and things would have been different. Also I also get that people eating at the bar can be a little annoying (it bugs me sometimes) but the place wasn't crowded so it wasn't like people were waiting for our space. In general I DO recommend swinging in here to try the cocktails and the nachos... but don't expect much for service unless you are a chica with big boobs because those were the star customers.

I like this Fly Bar better than the one on Divis. It's a full bar, the pizzas are great, and the bartenders are super friendly and nice. The crowd is always a cool friendly-but-mind-your-own-business types, which is perfect.

Maybe I didn't order the right food, but I was a little underwhelmed by this place. Has a very bland american feel to it.

We stopped in because this spot had happy hour and was located right next to our hotel. Happy we did. The atmosphere was very chill. One side of the bar has stools; the other, because the floor is higher on this side, has comfortable cushioned arm chairs. The lady behind the bar was a stellar bartender - smiley, patient and capable of a fine cocktail. Happy hour consists of $5 signature cocktails, $6 pizzas and .... $3 drafts? Don't quote me on the beer part. Both the bourbon concoction and vodka mix were on point. If we hadn't been heading to dinner, I absolutely would have jumped in on that pizza - the guy next to me was inhaling his. And it smelled fantastic.

This is a great spot to stop and get a drink if you are going to a show at the Regency Ballroom. This is not a great spot to stop and get DINNER and drinks if you are going to a show at the Regency Ballroom and want to get there on the same evening. Service was pretty slow, but that's to be expected. Drinks were well priced. Food was so-so. The pizzas and salads I would suggest passing on, but the Nachos were delish! 3 stars based on yummy nachos, great decor and proximity to the Regency.

This place is good for happy hour. It's spacious and there are plenty of tables to accommodate for large groups. The food and drink selection is pretty good. We went around 5pm so there weren't that many people in the venue just yet. It's a pretty chill place to drink at, no drunktards in here that I've seen the last few times I've been. The servers are also great - polite and come around often to check how things are going. Just note this place is in the Tenderloin so the area around the bar is sketch. Be smart and don't put yourself in a bad situation!

It's actually three stars for the bar and 2 for the food. We had the Shroom Pie which was okay but nothing special. I didn't like the pesto drizzled across the top of it like mustard. Weird. And the mixed salad was ok. Nice vibe in the restaurant and a bottle of wine didn't set us back too much. I would come back for drinks but not their food.

Drinks are average price and so is the service. But there is plenty of seating and it's not super crowded. Overall its a nice place to hang out with some friends and grab a drink. This place is a not a destination spot for the night, but more of a place to stop and have a drink and then continue on to better places. A Solid 3.5 stars.

What I ate: Pies galore, bite of burger, nachos, sangria Visit date: February 10, 2012 First time? Yes, sir, yee, bobs, ski Tasty pies!!! Tasty burger!! The nachos were slightly burnt. And the sangria could be stronger. The PESTO pizza had pesto and mozzarella topped with a salad of watercress, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, pecorino cheese and balsamic dressing. First of all, salad on pizza? I think it's a great idea! I like the combination of cheesy bready goodness with crispy greens. The balsamic dressing gave a nice acid punch. The BLANCO had white garlic sauce with jack cheese, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions and scallions. This was heavy on the garlic. Ok by me, but watch out first-date people! The SOUTH WESTERN had black beans, corn, roasted red peppers, onions, pepperjack cheese and cilantro. This pizza sounded good in theory, but I wasn't a big fan. It just didn't pack a good flavor punch. Maybe serving some guac or salsa on the side would make this a bit tastier. THE FUNKY CHICKEN pizza had BBQ sauce, chicken breast, smoked gouda cheese, red onions and scallions. I'm always a little wary of chicken on pizza, but Fly Bar did a nice job. The funky chicken was tender. O, and they pile on the BBQ sauce. You know me and sauce -- best buds! This was my favorite pie of the five. The MMMMM...MEAT has a whole lot of meat action: sausage, pepperoni and prosciutto, as well as some non-meat action: tomato sauce, green peppers and mozzarella cheese. A carnivore/halophile's delight! This was my second favorite pie of the night. The burger was tender, juicy and so if-I-wasn't-eating-pizza-I-could-scarf-it-down-in-five-bites good. Disclaimer!!! During the first 20 minutes of the meal I was still coming out of numbness from novacaine shots in my mouth. I could taste with half of my tongue -- the nachos were at least half delicious. And the sangria tasted sweet. Once I gained feeling and taste sensations, the sangria tasted like orange rinds (a little too bitter for my taste). Pizza and burger were consumed with a fully functional palette. Note: A group of seven can easily finish five pies.

Really great! I was able to make same-day reservations for our group of 8 (they only will hold a table for 8 or more). Server was great, pizza was fantastic and they had a good drink selection. The sangria was meh, but it was perfect for a chill beginning to a night out. Super close to polk bars too.

Fly is a great place in the beautiful Tenderloin area. Your drinks will be served as you gaze outside, noticing the drag queens and transgender prostitutes on the corner. It's well worth it. The drink selection is large, and the appetizers are fantastic. Have a nachos craving? Get your fix here! I had my birthday get together here and don't regret it at all. As another reviewer mentioned, it could take a while to get your food but sometimes it is worth the wait.

I used to grab drinks and shoot pool at the Fly Bar on Divis when I lived in the neighborhood, so I was excited that there was another fly bar close to where I live now. My girlfriend and I went for a Friday happy hour and the place was busy, but not packed. There were maybe a few people standing and everyone else was seated. We had seats at the bar and looking around, about half of the people at the bar had drinks. We had to leave after 20 minutes without even being acknowledged by the bartender. Maybe it was an off night, but definitely not what I had expected.

This is my work's happy hour joint, generally Friday is go time. Love the 1/2 off pizzas but it is hit or miss as to the deliciousness of each variety. The beers and cocktails are decent and cheap during HH but may not be worth the price after. This is when it begins to get busy, and when it is busy it is like being crammed into a can of sardines. The service also become VERY slow during that time. It took my friend 40 mins standing at the bar to pay the bar tab. If you go early Fly = super, if not Fly = might as well hang at R bar or somewhere on Polk.

Thank goodness this restaurant was right next door to our hotel and it had an available table. We were very tired and done walking for the day. This place seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis. One part one it wants to be cozy and romantic with low lights and jewel tones. Then the other part wants it to be a crazy nightlife establishment with LOUD music and a slightly intimidating man at the door. It was myself and my husband and his parents and the noise level wasn't exactly our style, but the food made up for it. They played good music, I just wish they had turned it down. We had Sangria (20 bucks for a big pitcher) which wasn't amazing but it really hit the spot. We had the chips and dip to munch on to start- good guac, predictable salsa, and a large amount of broken chips but we were starving. I ordered the Fly Mix salad- the half size. It was HUGE and become a side salad for three people. I could taste the high quality olive oil. Yum! Our entrees were the pizzas. My husband and I split the Margerita pizza and my in-laws had Jimmy the Greek. The crusts were amazing, light and perfect. The mozzarella was super fresh and nicely salty. Very delicious and went well with our sangria. Since it's near our favorite SF hotel I would come here again and try to get in for happy hour, but it's definitely not a place to bring in-laws.

Should win an award for being as annoyingly loud as a Fly in your ear. If only Billy Jack were around to put his foot in the mouths of the clientele trying to talk louder than the next table. The bartender couldn't hear a word but could read lips. 1) The service was attentive due to our glares and i think he felt bad for us because he noticed Mom and Dad were in town as i was attempting to show the country folk big city hipster dining and i failed miserably due to proximity. 2) The food was sub par. The Mediterranean Salad was a vinegar bomb accentuated with pepperoncini (ever try eddie's special at Gaspare's Pizza? that's how pepperroncini should be enjoyed). Don't get me wrong I love bragg's apple cider vinegar (with the mother in it w/my tap water), but i think the chefs in the back were using sysco red wine vinegar to cover up something funky in the greens. The pizza was surprisingly bland, overpowered by a bisquick type crust. 3) The sangria was the saving grace of this meal. Although not on a "Perfect Day" level via Lou Reed, it did the trick to save me from embarrassment when the parents asked me if there was a Pizza Hut near by. - Riley O.

The rave reviews about Fly Bar are no joke. Happy hour here is probably one of the bests out there. You can't really get any better than half off pizzas and $3 drafts, but what I really think makes this place are the amazing bartenders! The folks here are super friendly and you can't really ask for more in terms of service. 'Jimmy the Greek' and 'The Funky Chicken' were both very tasty and am looking forward to coming back to make my way through the entire pizza menu!

We have a winner! Congratulations go to San Francisco's worst bartender. It wasn't even a contest truth be told. Let's set the scene. It's a little after 5pm on Sunday. Moderately busy. A play by play how our dread-locked bartender (let's just call him DLB since I don't know his name) took the big prize (times are approximate): 5:25 - I arrive and put my order in 5:40 - As I sit at the bar talking with friends I become acutely aware that I am quite thirsty and desirous of adult liquid refreshment. 5:45 - I manage to get DLB's attention while he completes his never-ending list of tasks that come before bringing me my drink. Did I mention we were sitting at the bar? At this point we also ordered a Mmmm Meat pizza. 6:00 - When we asked him how it was coming along he admitted that he forget to send the order in. 6:15 - Someone's pizza arrives. Unfortunately not ours. DLB attemps to give us a Margherita pizza. I told him that was not our pizza. He walked down the bar looking for who ordered it and eventually came back telling us that this is the pizza we ordered. While he was looking for the correct table I asked my 2 friends if they ordered it and they insisted they did not. 6:16 - Mr. Dreadlock Bartender comes back and insists it is our pizza. Insists. He claims that I didn't know what I was talking about because they ordered it before I got there. If that was the case then something really is messed up because that would have meant it took an hour to get us a pizza in a not-that-busy bar. I digress... 6:17 - My 2 friends decided to go ahead and take it. I was still holding out for the Meat pizza. I am in control but quietly seething. 6:20 - DLB is getting visibly upset for all the problems I am causing him what with all my trying to order beer and pizza at a bar and all. Apparently I am ruining his day. How do I know this? Well he specifically mentioned that unlike Burning Man where everybody was cool and got along that I was completely unlike that. He also mentioned how he was having a bad day and that I was making it worse. I guess I should have just sat back and accepted the crappy service and getting our order wrong. I suppose that would have made his day better. 6:25 - I asked DLB a couple of times to take responsibility for the slow service and incorrect orders and things would be cool between us. Instead DLB rolled his eyes, DLB clicked his tongue, DLB everything in the world but take accountability for his own crappy service. 6:26 - I turn to a prospective customer waiting to put his order in and simply tell him "good luck." 6:30 - As we are getting ready to just get up and leave DLB brings our Mmmm Meat pizza as if he were having to clean up dog shit off his shoe. 6:35 - I ate as quickly as I could, handed money to my friends and insisted they give him a $.01 tip. I'm getting so incensed I get up and leave so my blood pressure doesn't rise any further. A slightly anti-climactic update: I saw DLB after Decompression at Retox. We made eye contact once and all I could think was just keep walking my friend. A second time he made eye contact he sticks his tongue at me. (I point this out for factual purposes only - it has no bearing on the review itself) A message to DLB - You need to man up and grow a pair my friend. I don't need my blood pressure raised from a bartender who can't remember jack shit, can't give a customer decent service or take accountibility for his own mistakes. I'd give Fly Bar 4 stars if it had been even an average bartender. As it is Fly gets 1 star which is a shame because I liked everything else about the place.

We went here during happy hour the other day and the deals were awesome! We ordered the nachos, which were friggin mountainous and delicious, and the mushroom onion pizza that was half off and only $4.50 and equally delicious. Including 3 beers, the bill came out to about $24. They had a really shiny art installation made of bottle caps that was fun to look at, too. The waitress was also super nice.

Urgh. What a waste of a restaurant. Terrible food, slow service, and dirty-dirt-dirty. They messed with a really good thing (Brick), caved-in to the academy kids inhabiting the 'hood and produced a sloppy seconds restaurant/bar. Boo.

    (1)
  • Nina B.

I was sad to see that Brick wasn't able to withstand the recession, so I was eager to try out Fly, as it is in my neighborhood. However, being used to Brick, which had great service, and even better food, I was sadly disappointed. The service was horrible, we waited for 15 minutes to have our drink order taken. Though I know that Brick was not for everyone, at least you felt that your patronage was appreciated. This place may be great on Divisidero, but they have some major issues that need to be worked out at this location.

I like this place, its nicely lit and not too crowded and this was on a sat night. They have a decent selection of well drinks and beer but they need more selections on wine and non hard liquor.

I prefer this place more for the food than the drinks. The location isn't ideal, but the food and vibe inside is worth it. Went there for new years this year and it is basically a good place for a second date or post work meetup. Could come here before a movie at van ness too.

I've been going to FLY Bar more frequently recently because I live on Sutter and Larkin, the place is basically 25 from my building. Its a comfortable spot. They have good pizzas, definitely try the Funky Chicken, and a nicely chosen line up of beers on tap. Oh, and happy hour is good, hit that up. This is the kinda place to have an after work drink. It's not the kinda place you get shitty at or do anything out of the range of coherence. There is a bartender there who is pretty suave, this black guy who knows how to wear a fedora. I won't be going back there, however. A bartender there surprised me when he poured me a shot of well vodka to fill my order for a shot of Stolichnaya vodka. When he brought it to me, I asked him if it was Stoli Vodka, even though I knew it wasn't, and he lied and said that it was. So, I began tell him that I had just watched him pour the shot and while I was talking he cut me off by saying 'you ordered vodka and thats what you got', defensive! Turns out he was serving me some shit vodka, and probably charging me for it, and telling me that it was what I had ordered. The way the guy handled it was lame, he was rude which added to the displeasure of being lied to. So, my friends and I left. It was a waste of a vodka shot and I don't see why he couldn't just tell me they don't carry it, I would've had a Grey Goose. It sucks to be lied to, especially when you're purchasing something. So, no more FLY bar for me. The bartender was this white guy with a gut, on tuesday night around 12:30

Fly bar is almost-mostly-usually-sometimes better than your average bar. Why? Beer is why. Yes, I like their beer selection - particularly, their Belgian-by-the-bottle beer selection. A welcomed surprise, albeit a small part of the semi-large beer menu. Their cocktail menu is also quite nice to go with their semi-short-for-the-location happy hour time-frame. Another positive mark? They have a small, but effective, drink menu that pairs a shot with a beer. Fly Bar also has food. Good sandwiches and the pizzas are decent fare to compliment and soak up what you're drinking. Nothing they have is amazing, but it hits the spot nicely enough. Specifics? The pulled pork sandwich is a good'un. Next - I don't play video games and I'm not really big on shuffle board so if this is your draw to Fly Bar, more power to ya. Personally, I think it's an odd addition to the place, but hey, to each his own, right? OK - so I started this review about 6 months ago and never finished. Good thing I didn't. I was going to go with 4 stars. No longer my friends... I have to say...and this has been said...the last time I was at Fly Bar, and maybe this is why it was the last time, I had a not-so-pleasant experience with a certain dreadlocked bartender. I have a funny feeling he thinks he's the busiest, most sought after bartender in San Francisco, and does he think he's a tough guy? Hmm. So my girlfirend and I sat at the bar and waited an ungodly amount of time for a drink. After too much time went by he brought the wrong drinks. Jesus Lord! I thought, hey, it's cool, he'll probably serve us next since he messed up our drinks. Nope. He kept moving around the bar with that "why are all these people here?" look on his face and finally comes around with our drinks. And what does he do to "try" to make it right? He has a shot with my girlfriend accompanied by this annoying "I think I'm charming you with this grin and dookie banter" BS. Say what?! That dude needs a reality check. Anyhoo -- Fly bar is a cool place but it's not a destination spot by any means. I don't exactly want this to be a diatribe about that guy but he left a sour taste in my mouth about the whole place. Eh, whatever...

Couple things about this place that are worth noting: 1.It was packed last Friday at happy hour! Great vibe to walk into and even though they were busy, found a table right away and had great service. 2.I bumped into J.J. Phair, owner and brewmaster of E.J. Phair in Concord. I think it speaks well about Fly Bar if another brewmaster and bar owner is hanging out there!? (ps: try E.J. Phair beer. Really good, especially the IPA!) 3. They have a really good Happy Hour until 7pm. Includes draft beer, cocktails and pizza. indulged in all three and enjoyed them all. I want to try more of the food next time...okay...and more of the drinks too :) 4.And if it could get any better....Shuffleboard!

I stumbled upon this place on a recent trip to San Francisco. It was located only a block or two from the Cova Hotel where I stayed so the location was great. Now on to the happy hour. BEST DEAL EVER. $5 for a personal, gourmet pizza. Try the Pesto and the 4 cheese! This deal can not be beat, especially since the happy hour begins at NOON! It was a very welcoming bar, with a friendly staff, and great happy hour specials! Definitely a must try if you're in the neighborhood.

Fly has really good pizza. Like addictingly great pizza. I had the cheese pizza and it was just the right size for a dinner pizza and it was perfectly made. My mom had a pizza with the salad on top of it, she loved it. My dad had their salad and their quesadillas. It was all great, and it was very affordable for the quality of the food. Its definitely presented as a bar, but the food was good. Try it!

I live several blocks away from Fly Bar, and couldn't be more pleased that this place is within walking distance. The space itself is pretty big, making it good for groups. There is a (short) shuffle board, a great happy hour menu (food and drink), and relaxed ambiance. Good for a drink after work, or an outing with friends on the weekend.

If you are a big fan of bar food, then you have come to the right place. I have been here about four times and every time I leave out of the Fly Bar happy and full. And it is not so expensive. The place has a great ambiance and mostly of locals from the Tender Knob. They have a few beer on tap but I think they are mostly known for the well made drinks. My wife always orders the Salty Dog and the occasional Margarita. I usually order 21st Ammendment or the BEER OF THE MONTH. If you are hungry, order the Chicken wings. They are so spicy and cooked well thru. Getting hungry as I am writing this review. The Nachos are OK, nothing to rave about. I think they are well known for the pizzas so make sure you try one out. Cheers!!!!!

Now I've been to Fly Bar on Divis before, but last Friday was my inaugural visit to this much-needed replacement for Brick. The only thing that sucks is the competitive aspects in nabbing a seat when it's crowded. You have to hover and swoop, but it's well-worth it if you can score a seat @ the bar. Speaking of which, the coolest, most adorable bartender in the entire world looked after us all evening -- from our martinis to a stinky (in a yummy way) caramelized onion pizza to cherry-breaking Fernet shots. Her name is Amity, but she's knocked up and will soon be too busy being a Mommy to make your damn drinks, so enjoy her while you can. Anyway, I'm so glad to see such a nice yet casual venue appear on the shabbier half of Polk.

1/2 price pizzas and $3 pints during happy hour...$3 Tecate tall boys all day every day...what more do I say? Plus, Davin always has his iPod playlist going which creates a nostalgic mood for me...always meeting great people, tabletop shuffleboard a plus (hustler!), and so closeby I can't resist going on a regular basis...

This place has a great happy hour! I don't know how great their food is - I've only ever had their hummus plate which i think is really yummy. They have a really good beer menu though. Its just a great chill spot to unwind after work. Or on sundays when it is much less crowded.

As everyone says- Great Happy hour!! Thats why we come back so often. The one downside, the bartender/servers don't seem very attentive to tables. Last time I had to go ask for a menu after sitting for about 5 minutes, as the bartender never acknowledged us. Although whenever we go in, there is only one server (who is also the bartender) so that is probably not their fault. Maybe I will try sitting at the bar next time? Bottom line, good pizzas, good price, cool atmosphere.

We hit this place up late on a Monday night so I cannot really say how it is when the crowd is larger. We grabbed a beer at the bar, got some quarters and headed for the pool table. After Ruggy schooled Christina and I on how to play pool with three people and how to rack the balls correctly we got started. First off, I love the stars above the pool table. They just give that area of the bar a cool feel. What I hate was the proximity of the walls to the pool table. C-MON! We kept having to use the super short stick which was actually too short to get any type of decent shot. It didn't keep me from cleaning up the table, but I am will admit that was just luck.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
