There are so many great local restaurants in SF that I typically try to stay away from the chains. However, this CPK happens to be conveniently located across the street from the Westin (yeah, another chain) I often stay at during frequent trips to SF. On my most recent visit to CPK I skipped their tasty pizzas and salad...and shared some guac and chips with the lovely Gabi M. I'm pretty sure I ate most of it myself as Gabi ate her healthy salad. The service was pretty fast and our waiter was sweet, although he did offer us cigarettes at the end of our meal, which we found to be a bit strange. We couldn't decide if he was joking, but hopefully so since you can't smoke inside restaurants in California. Not to mention no one should be offered cigarettes when 8 months pregno like myself. CPK is never my first choice when it comes to dining out, but it's the food is consistently good and this one happens to be in a very convenient location.

I ordered a Half white half BBQ chicken pizza. Last saturday evening. Needless to say I was disappointed with the overpriced small portion lack of Toppings. Not to mention the pizza was luke warm. I was also charged $4.00 for extra chicken (which was put in a small (Container) which I didn't even order. I will not return to this location. I am giving this place 2 stars only because I will gladly continue buying the cheaper larger and better tasting cpk at the grocery store.

Yay, my favorite CPK location in the city! I LOVE the friendly/speedy service at this location ... sometimes the manager visits our table, too. :) If you're lucky, you'll get the free appetizer code thing on your receipt (participate in a phone survery and get a free appetizer at your next visit...expires 2 weeks after initial visit...BOO) I like coming here after a long work week to treat myself to a Pina Colada (yea yea.......) and maybe a slice of their lip-smacking red velvet cake!!! The hot chocolate is yummy, too :) Comes in a tall, clear (beer??) mug with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top. hmm...and the spinach artichoke dip appetizer has me scrapping the edges of the bowl till it's scrubbed clean. I realize I don't really come here for pizza anymore...ever since the creation of DiGiorno...I stick with salads, appetizers, and drinks! Very filling. Quick story! We had a flight to catch and wanted to have a quick lunch here before going to the airport...so I just let the waiter know I was in a hurry....man, he was so on point! The moment we finished eating, our plates were cleared and the bill was paid...no BS. Had plenty of time to spare afterwards, too! I highly recommend this location!

NEW small cravings menu, for around $5-6. Now even CPK has jumped into the Korean tacos craze. But their version is forgettable, yelp.com/biz_photos/caliâ€¦ the meat was a bit dry even though drenched in BBQ sauce, too much chopped cabbage, and the tortillas were not as soft as they should be (probably difficult to keep moist around that hot pizza oven kitchen). On the other hand, the sweet corn tamale ravioli (filled with cheese & bits of poblano chiles) was a winner. yelp.com/biz_photos/caliâ€¦ Strange name but very tasty and creamy, I would wanna order a full plate of those (sorry, for now it's only available in appetizer size). This restaurant is incredibly popular lately. Service was excellent, many other SF places could learn a few things from this place.

The pizza was small, the crust doughy and unremarkable, the toppings minimalist. The ambiance was frenetically reminiscent of a Midwestern-mall food court from the 90s. If that's a bit of Americana you've been yearning for, then by all means, dive right in. Otherwise, keep walking. FYI, a lot of menu items are semi-pre-prepared, so no changes possible.

It's been a while since I have last ventured to CPK. My co-workers and I decided to "catch up" over a few drinks. We were a bit discouraged over how busy it looked, but were greeted by friendly hosts and assured it was only going to be a 10 minute wait. Sure enough we were sat immediately and our server made sure to visit our table within a few minutes. He made great recommendations and didn't mind that we were often caught up in conversation. I wish I could say the meal was as pleasant as the staff. My co-worker did mention to me that one of the reasons she was reminded that she did not dine at CPK as much as she would like was due to the calorie counts that are all over the menu. She told me she felt embarrassed and it often discouraged her to order what she really wanted. I ordered a raspberry-lemon drop martini (which was recommended by our server) and it was quite delicious! I then ordered the tequila-lime chicken fettuccine and received it at a luke warm temperature and was surprised to see small bits of what looked like chicken nuggets versus chicken breast. There was definitely a lack of quality with my pasta dish. The dessert that was ordered was the strawberry shortcake and although the ice cream we added to it made it taste better, the biscuit was overly dry and we ate around it. I will not order either items again.

I don't usually Yelp chain restaurants, but it's CPK, and I love CPK, so why not?! First of all, we walked in on a Saturday night, around 6:30, without reservations and were seated within five minutes! The host who seated us looked like a 15 year old boy and wasn't the friendliest person, but I forgave him after I had a few sips of their sangria! We started with the crispy artichoke, which was served with CPK's homemade remoulade sauce. It was deelish! As for entrees, we shared the baby clam linguini with tomato sauce, a thin crust margherita pizza, and an original chopped salad. We asked for the salad sans garbanzo beans, but found them in our salad anyway. Good thing we really didn't mind it. The best was the linguini, which surprisingly, was chock full of clams. Yum, yum, yum, I love clams! I shared the Caribbean Sunset sangria (mango puree, pinot grigio, Malibu, peach schnapps, and apple juice) with my cousin--it was so good! CPK never fails me!

I had the BBQ chicken and bacon pizza and the meat lover's pizza. Both of them tasted pretty alright, but there wasn't anything really special about any of them. Each of the pizzas are meant for single serving, but they're pretty big for one person. The pizzas don't have a lot of sauce on them or cheese on the meat lover's; however, the bread was nice and soft though. Their pizzas are surprisingly not as oily as most pizza are, which would explain the lack in amount of cheese. The italian strawberry soda I order tasted like non flavored soda... it wasn't good. However, the mocha coffee was really good.

Overly zealous wait staff, pushing drinks and desserts. Liked the free refills on lemonade, but if you order wine, they will hold you to 3 oz. or 6 oz. glasses, like some chem class. Would have liked sangria, but includes schnapps and rum? Pizza greasy, which I expected, but service attentive if you can stave off the oversell. Nice environment. Would have gone someplace better, but Thursday nights in the city getting impacted.

California Pizza Kitchen is awesome, I enjoy the Hawaiian Pizza I ordered the last time I came here. The menu items are moderately priced, but be prepared to spend $11-$30 if you plan on eating lunch or dinner here. With pizzas and a few other items along with drinks and desserts, the price range gets high up there. The service here is excellent, my server was very friendly and polite. CPK is a pizza restaurant that brings a new twist to the taste of Pizza. I want to eat here again very soon since I enjoy eating the Hawaiian Pizza so much. If you or anyone enjoy eating pizza, then CPK is for you. So go give it a try, you might end up enjoying the food.

With all the independently owned and diverse restaurants in the city, I would not got to CPK.... except for the The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad I tried for the first time today. SO many textures going on in this lettuce concoction!!!!-- sweet corn, beans, jicama, cilantro, basil, tortilla strips, monterey jack, BBQ chicken, tomatoes and scallions.... all tossed in a light ranch dressing. SO REFRESHING. I've been to CPK probably 20+ times in my life and never tried it. SMH, so disappointed in myself.. best. salad. ever.

I love CPK and have been to (dozens?) all over the country. This location is one of my favorites! It's nice and big so there's rarely a wait - great place to go with a large group. The food is super consistent - my favorites are the California veggie pizza and the pesto cream penne pasta. They're always more than obliging when I ask for some customizations. The food comes out piping hot and delicious and the service has never been anything short of stellar. What more can you ask for?

It might be a chain, it might be Americanized pizza and pasta, but this is easily some of the best food for the price. There's nothing fancy or special about it, but they know how to mix their flavours and tastes to make some great dishes. I'm really a fan of the goat cheese pizza. Their appetizers can be a bit small, but it's nice to get a few to share with others. I recently tried the artichoke hearts breaded in Panko breadcrumbs and I was very pleased with them. I have a hard time choosing between the salads and the pizzas. Even the pastas are tempting. I've had the mushroom ravioli and it's definitely up there on the "must have" list! The service at this particular location is great. Going here for a bit of a leisurely lunch with coworkers is worth it.

Went with a few friends for lunch. I haven't been here for about 3-4 years now (not specifically this location) and I must say, it's not as good as I remembered. We ordered two pizzas and a pasta to share among four people, the dishes were okay. In my memory, CPK's pizza was one of the best, but it doesn't leave an exceptional flavor in my mouth anymore. The service was great and our waiter was very patient and friendly with us. I would return, but don't expect an amazing experience.

The more I dine out at other mom and pop places, the more I appreciate the corporate structures that's done well. CPK has always been very consistent and thank God the portions aren't ginormous like other chain restaurants. My best guy friend and I were at the SFMoMA and dying to eat something that wasn't trendy, high priced, or made with ingredients we couldn't pronounce so like a beacon on the very dark oversized alley called 3rd and Market, we saw the CPK sign and immediately knew that was the one place we could agree on. We were greeted by two hosts who were cleaning the windows and sat immediately and given a whole library of menus. Our server Maria was adorable and made helpful suggestions about the few menu items we were familiar with. I love their new small bites menu and the wedge salad, greek plate, and the half glass of wine are a wonderful idea! My buddy and I split the chopped salad and the broccoli and sun-dried tomato fusilli. The appetizers and entrees were timed just right and everything tasted amazing and hit the spot. The only problem with doing 3 courses at CPK is that you can't seem to move onto the 4th. I don't live near a CPK and it's not often you can find someone in San Fran willing to go to a chain restaurant but I say it's totally worth it.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! My coworkers and I have decided to eat here for lunch. BIG MISTAKE. We got to the place around 12:50pm. Already called ahead and got a last minute reservation. Waited about 10 minutes for them to set everything up. Alright, you could've done it before we arrived. No big deal. After we sat down, the waiter took our drink orders and food orders. Everything was ok. Got our drinks. Then nothing.... Literally nothing... NO BREAD. NO FOOD. After waiting 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and complained to the waiter SEVERAL times to check on the food. The waiter said he would check on the food. STILL NOTHING. Then, I went up to the manager John Hodge. He replied with a very unsatisfying/douchebag answer and looks like he could care less. " Do you guys still want it or not." WOW. SHOCKED. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER. Apparently, the waiter didn't put our orders in right away. Then had the kitchen rush it. INCOMPETENT IDIOTS. Gave us free/gross looking slices of cake. We had 9 people, they gave us 2 slices. WTF. Took a percentage off of our bill. I rather pay full price than to deal with this.

CPK is a very good chain restaurant concept. I have dined at many locations across the country and have had a good meal at all of them. They are very consistent from location to location. I think their pizza is one of the best in the country. Salads and appetizers are always good. Entrees beyond pizza are good, sometimes a little mundane. I like their wine selection but they are a little on the high side for the level of quality they are pouring. I recommend them and it is a great place to take kids. Try the Sicilian Pizza. Killer Tiramisu. Might be the best around.

Even the name sounds suspiciously wrong to me. "California Pizza" is a non-sequitur like "Orange Cappucino" or "Mother of the Year Britney Spears". Pizza is Jersey, Brooklyn or Chicago. But you put California in the title, and you just know someone has to put avocado slices on top. That just seems so wrong. Yes for guacamole but no for pizza. The $10.99 California Club Pizza is a complete miss for that reason, and they add insult to injury by adding chopped lettuce and mayonnaise. WTF. It should come as no surprise that the huge salads are a much better deal here. My favorite is the $9.99 BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad which is a ginormous mound of chopped lettuce, black beans, sweet corn and jicama, mixed with cilantro, basil, shredded Jack cheese and crispy corn tortilla strips tossed together in a ranch dressing. It's all topped with chunks of chopped chicken breast, diced tomatoes and chopped scallions. An in-between item I go for are the $7.99 Chicken Lettuce Wraps, nominally an appetizer but bigger than you would expect. It's a jumbo version of what you'd find at a trendier Chinese restaurant - minced chicken mixed with shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, green onions in a soy-ginger sauce. It comes with what looks like a head of iceberg lettuce, even though it has have been carefully unlayered for pocketing purposes. The menu gets mixed marks for me, but the space on 3rd Street is hugely expansive. It has a warmish, prairie-style feel like they were going for Frank Lloyd Wright but in a chain restaurant sort of way. The college-age server was attentive to the point of hovering, but we didn't mind his unintentionally unctuous manner. He has plenty of time to grow bitter like me. FOOD - 3.5 stars....great and hearty salads, appetizers suffer from super-sizing, and the pizzas just get carried away with themselves AMBIANCE - 4 stars...I like the wide, open spaces but haven't been here when it was packed with large parties SERVICE - 4 stars...he tries...oh Lord, he tries TOTAL - 3.5 stars...leaving it at 3 stars until I take another shot at their other menu options

It has to be said. It just has to. California Pizza Kitchen despite being a chain, despite having some just OK pizzas, - does alot of things right. Such as continually adding new things to their menu... Like their Spiced Moroccan Chicken salad. Which if you look at the new menus - now updated with caloric information - is one of the healthiest things on there, and also might be one of the best things as well. And maybe on the block for that matter. Yes I went there. Their salad has a delicious light vinaigrette drizzled (or more like heavily poured) on top of fresh tasting spiced chicken, avocado, beets, chopped egg pieces, fresh romaine lettuce, and some other crispy veggies. It's more than on point. And when you go beyond on point - well you just brought it. I just ate a Good Earth burrito (one of my favorite things in the world) - and I barely tasted it - all I could think about was CPK's salad....and trust me that says alot. So yeah - if you're looking for something healthy in the area - and you want something fast and dependable - you heard it here, CPK is a solid choice. (oh yeah and once you're done being healthy - splurge on a dessert - they're amazing!)

I came here for a business lunch. I ordered the Morrocan salad, which had everything and the kitchen sink -- Moroccan-spiced chicken, romaine, roasted butternut squash, dates, avocado, toasted almonds, beets, chopped egg, carrots, dried cranberries and bell peppers, tossed with homemade champagne vinaigrette. They certainly did not skimp on the goodies, there were lots of squash, chicken, avocado, beets and almonds sprinkled in the salad. The salad had a great crunch with so many accompaniments and especially since I ordered my salad dressing free, seemed pretty health, too (pat on the back). Especially given the size of the dish, it's a great meal.

While CPK is known for its pizza, I always come here for the BBQ Chicken Salad. The portions are huge and it feels like a better deal than a small pizza at the same price. Well seasoned with a variety ingredients, the salad also has a crunchy texture because of tortilla strips. Service is also very quick, there was very little waiting.

We showed up because we were here for conference. The restaurant was busy, but the hostesses were both super friendly. Our waiter was....weird. First of all, he didn't make eye contact when he greeted us, which bothered me and he kept making weird/corny comments. For example, he was complete enamored by a little kid's light-up shoes and he felt the need to share this with us as if it was the most hilarious thing ever. Which was just like....um....ok....I guess. We ordered the small plate guacamole, a carnitas habenero pizza and a field greens salad. Small plate should be TINY plate guacamole. It was an ice cream school size of guacamole with a handful of corn chips for $4. As my best friend said, "for that much money, it should taste like the j--z of the gods." It didn't. It tasted like a guacamole mixed with sweet corn where the forgot both the jalapeÃ±os and the lime juice. Not to mention that it was garnished with a piece of flat-leaf parsley which had been chewed on by a insect. My salad came and it was literally the size of a not so large dinner plate. At $11, I at least expect a large bowl or something, not some dinky plate. Again, I would have more than forgiven the price point if the taste was great...or even good for that matter. It was really just "meh." At this point, sensing my unhappiness our waiter offered to get me a free soup which is the only reason this isn't a one-star review. Basically, everything at this restaurant is twice as expensive as it should be. If the guacamole was $2 and the salad was $6, it would have been fine. Maybe San Franciscans are used to shelling out tons of cash for mediocre food, but this diner is not going to put up with it. Especially when there is Vietnamese food to die for a few blocks away in the Tenderloin.

This is a place my friend and I meet for our "business" lunch at least once a week. This place is a childhood restaurant to me. I always order either a moijto or beer to go along with my baby clam linguini w/ red sauce. SERVICE: every time I go here, our waiters/waitresses have been prompt. My water is always filled and I like how when the meals do go out they offer fresh ground pepper in front of you. Although, they always try to sell me on dessert, but I guess that's their job. HA maybe next time. PRICE: The pricing is not too bad for this kind of restaurant. My total is about $24 for both the pasta and the drink. $8 for drink $16 for the food with San Francisco Tax. I expected to pay this amount. FOOD/BEVERAGE: I love the linguini. Not to dry and full of flavor. The proportions are perfect that I do not need to take home any leftovers. My mojito could have been stronger...haha but that's just me in general...i like my drinks strong. OVERALL: I'm most likely going to go here again as well as recommend it to people.

I was also astounded by the very large variety of different food offerings (pizza, pasta, typical American dishes, etc.). This location features plenty of seating so there's not a long wait (like at the CPK at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo). I've been to both locations, and am a fan of both. Our server had an amazing memory and took our order without writing any of it down. I was skeptical at first but our food came out as ordered. Service was a bit slow but it was a group dinner so it gave us time to catch up. I got my favorite - the smashed pea soup and grilled veggie sandwich on herb onion bread. The sandwich portion was smaller than at Hillsdale mall but the table bread here was softer and fresher. It's a chain restaurant so you know what to expect when you come, and everyone loves their pizza and has a great time. Very family-friendly too.

CPK is alright. 3.5 stars, rounded up. I mean, it's a chain, and it's pretty consistent and good, but not mind-blowing. I sort of group it with places like Cheesecake Factory, in that it's consistent, has an extensive menu, and is a safe bet. I think that most of the pizzas on the menu are fairly good. I can't remember all the ones I've tried (sorry, I know I'm being extremely helpful right now), but I don't think you can really go wrong with them. They're all solid pies, cooked right, and best of all, CREATIVE. The crust is good, the toppings are generous, and you'll usually always bring some leftovers home for a midnight snack or tomorrow's lunch. Good deal. The last time I went, however, I experienced an epic food fail, and thought that I should warn you all. First of all, they didn't give us any bread. They usually start you off with some, but I guess they forgot? Not cool. Then, my friend and I ordered the Moroccan chicken salad to share (since we had just come from eating a meal right beforehand, that's how we roll). Anyway, it was just a WHACK and badly made salad. The ingredients struck me as just simply ODD when put together. There were dates, beets, some generic dressing, tasteless bits of chicken, avocados, tomatoes, lettuce. I don't know. . .I'm a big fan of good salads, but this was just really weird and tasted like nothing. Very odd pairings of ingredients. And by odd, I really mean BAD. We still ate it, but it was not good. Don't get this. But, overall, this was just one bad experience out of many good experiences here. CPK is pretty solid for a chain, and I like them. CPK has always been a great restaurant chain in my book. I went to my first one outside of California, actually, and have been hooked ever since the early 90's. Our only CPK in SF (since the one on Van Ness closed down), is conveniently located in a major artery of the city - great access to businesses, hotels and downtown public transport. The restaurant is well-maintained and well-staffed. I am greeted each time I enter, and thanked each time I leave - really an overall stellar experience. I commend the restaurant for re-vamping its menu and catering to more gluten-free foods, well done! The salads and pizza are great options. I'm less hooked on the soups and pastas, maybe need to try them a bit more to be a better judge of quality. For the price, and consistency of service and quality, CPK is a great lunch/dinner option that won't break the bank! The only suggestions I have are: 1 - to re-evaluate the temperature level in the restaurants - safe some energy, they don't need to be that cold! AND, 2 - to check the music level - always way too loud for my tastes. I can barely carry on a conversation, let alone having to compete with everyone else's noise levels :-)

This was the go-to spot for dinner amongst my friends. The personal pizzas are perfectly portioned to leave you satisfyingly full, but not too full. There's a lot to choose from too! Avocado pizza, white pizza, bbq chicken pizza, pretty much anything you can imagine, CPK has it. I don't drink personally they have a good selection of drinks also. My friends would probably recommend the Long Island iced tea.

Oh man. This place was a huge disappointment. Normally we love California Pizza Kitchen, but this location is definitely lacking in the service department. We went there twice, hoping the first experience was a fluke. Day 1: Ordered a field greens salad, remembered later to ask for dressing on the side. I realize this can be annoying, and the server did nothing to hide this. The floor manager came out with the salad, and instead of offering to remake it, he gave me an etiquette lesson on how to order. After making a 45 second deal about whether I really wanted it remade, he loudly offered my salad to my dining partner, repeating that it's just going to be wasted and thrown away. The food itself was okay, but nothing to write home about. Day 2: We sat outside (which was nice) and our server (who was billed as "one of the best" by our host) was brash and came off as impatient even with questions like, "what local beers do you have?" (the menu prompts you to ask.) My partner ordered the Four Seasons (each topping represents a season, cute idea, right?) without mushrooms, which our server informed us "only made it three seasons." We thought it was a joke, but then he paused and waited as if to let us reconsider our choice, as we had picked the wrong answer. Later, we asked which seasons were represented by each topping. The server didn't know, he'd learned in his training, but forgot. He told us to just make something up. (To his credit, he asked another server later and told us.) My pizza (all hot toppings) was cold and tasted like it had been left in a window too long. The same floor manager was on, and came over to tear open our promotional cards, and upon seeing me, said something to the effect of, "I hope you remembered to order your dressing on the side this time!" with just a tad too sharp an edge to be joking. He took the promotional cards and opens them (like a server's supposed to) then scratched away the part that the customer does, while holding it away from me, and read my results to me. (10% off, sorry you didn't win anything.) The employees didn't seem particularly thrilled with their jobs (several complaining about being under staffed and phasing too early both days) and it showed. One server referred to the host as "the hostess girl," which I thought came off as pretty condescending. All and all, I was pretty disappointed that our annual CPK experience was such a letdown.

This is a chain, and one of my favorite ones. The menu and food are consistent with all California Pizza Kitchens. I like it here for comfort, and everything is always tasty and fresh. This location is near my work, and it's not often very busy during the day. I can sit at a big table with some reading and enjoy the general quiet with some good food and good service. If you like California Pizza Kitchen, I definitely recommend this one.

It's CPK with a nice bar and a patio (that never seems to be open). If you have been to one CPK, you've been to them all. There isnt nothing that pushes this one over the top, nor is there anything that drags it down. The best way I can describe it is "reliable".

We decided to try out CPK for a post Super Bowl dinner.The place was pretty empty and the service was fairly prompt. We had a nice server, who was more than happy to help, but got some of the order wrong. We ordered; App: Firecracker Shrimp: The portion was surprisingly small, and fairly bland. It tasted like the walnut prawns you can get at any chinese restaurant tossed in some Sriracha. It was small shrimp,in a pile on top of fried sai fun noodles. I could have made it at home, better, in 5 minutes. Entree: Meat Lovers Pizza: I hate canadian bacon - since it is not real bacon and has that smack of ham flavor I cant stand. I asked the server if I could substitute the canadian bacon for extra peperoni. He said that would be fine. I also asked to get the Multi-grain crust. I received the pizza pretty quickly. It was hot and fresh and really tasty. The only issue with the pizza was that it was on the honey wheat, not multi grain, crust with the canadian bacon invading the harmony of the other meats. At that point I didn't mind so I ate it anyway. Im sure there was a mix up in the kitchen and he picked up the wrong pizza. Lemon Chicken Piccata: It came pretty quickly. The chicken was cooked well and it was nicely presented. Upon first bite the lemon flavor was overwhelming, but then quickly mellowed into the other flavors of the sauce. Each bite was another lemon attack. It wasn't bad, per se.... it was just intense. The pasta portion of the dish was a little undercooked. It was still hard and gummy to the bite. Otherwise it was pretty good. Desert: This is where the meal shined. Brownie Sunday & SoufflÃ© Cake - similar flavor profiles but by far the soufflÃ© cake outshone the brownie sunday. The Sunday is served in a ala mode with some whipped cream garnishes. Its pretty good. The soufflÃ© cake is the Brownie Sunday on crack. Its lighter fluffier and its served in a pool of rich vanilla cream. Its soft, and velvety and extremely tasty. The overall meal was good, It wasn't great. The portions were pretty small. The food came fast, and hot. The server was pretty nice and helpful as well. Over all the meal was ok. It wont be my go-to restaurant, but something to do on a whim if I'm in the area.

We were staying across the street at the Westin, & this was my daughter's first choice for dinner. The service was friendly & professional, the place was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and the Cobb Salad was the best I've ever had. My daughter also liked her Mac-N-Cheese. First of all, great people and nice place but that's pretty much what I'm paying for because the food is not that great. Had the roasted garlic chicken pizza and it was super good and garlicky on your first few bites and then it got pretty salty really quick. Maybe it was the cheese. Then the spaghetti bolognese(spelling?) was as good as any spaghetti with meat sauce and the garlic creme fettuccine was really good too. The only problem with the pastas was that there is just not enough sauce. The food is good but could be better especially at those prices. And not to mention you have to pay for adding anything i.e. $1.50 thin crust, $1 mushrooms, $4 chicken..??? comes out to $13-14 pastas and pizzas. I think I'll just buy their frozen pizza at Safeway for $5 when it's on sale.

When CPK first opened several years ago, I was skeptical that this restaurant would survive in this neighborhood. The neighborhood is an outskirt of the downtown area, has a dark alley and busy bus stop. I'm also not a big fan of chain restaurants since it's usually mediocre and not as authentic as local Bay Area restaurants. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we entered the venue. The decor was nice and bright and I was surprised that there was little to no wait for a table of 6 on a Sunday evening. Since this was my first experience at CPK, I did some yelp research prior to my visit. I was craving for something pesto [based on other yelpers' reviews] but wasn't too crazy about ordering pizza partly because I've seen the CPK pizzas in the frozen aisle at your local supermarket. I also heard nothing but raves about this chain restaurant and its how their food is consistent. I ordered a Mango Mojito. I was a little disappointed at the Mango Puree, but overall it was decent although I definitely had better. We started off with the Avocado Club Eggrolls and Spinach Artichoke Dip. I must say the Avocado Club Eggrolls surprised me [since I typically don't order eggrolls unless its the Vietnamese Imperial Rolls], but the the dip it came with was typical Ranch and Thousand Island dressing. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was DELICIOUS [A MUST TRY], I seriously could not stop myself from getting seconds and thirds. I shared Pesto Creme Penne entree with my friend, since we were already semi-stuffed from the appetizers. We were definitely disappointed, it was something we could have done ourselves at home for like $5. Unfortunately, we did not have the appetites to start with the dessert menu. The waiter was pretty attentive and filled our waters frequently, asked for additional drinks/food for busing half tables at the restaurants. Pros: - All Day Parking @Ellis-O'Farrell [on Sundays] only $6 - MUST TRY 1) Spinach Artichoke Dip and 2) Avocado Club Eggrolls - Decent attention from the waiter - Short wait to be seated Cons: - I actually tried calling to place a dinner reservation for a party of 6 [since yelp and the CPK website showed that they took reservations], but apparently they don't take reservations unless its a party of 8. - Pesto Creme Penne was not good at all. I felt like it was something I could make at home. However, this was a great alternative to Cheesecake Factory. 4 Stars partly because I was in good company, which makes up for the crappy entree.

CPK! I am giving this spot a 4 stars just because of the memories i shared with this particular location. Those were great memories too but you guys are not here to hear me tell you stories right? You guys want to know about the food and the service! This place is very clean and cozy inside. I personal love the dimmed lights in this place because it makes you feel at home. The service at this place is great, all the waiter/waitress are attentive and patient. They are friendly and always have a smile on their face. I have been here so many times that I literally tried everything on their menu! They have a great selection of pasta but most of them is not that good. They used to have sausage and pepper penne ( with Italian sausage) that was so good but they stop serving it for a long time now. They also have a great selection of pizza and most of them is pretty tasty. I personally like the BBQ chicken pizza or the California Club pizza. This place is good and makes you feel at home. I would easily pick CPK over The Cheesecake Factory for lunch in Downtown!

Went here for lunch on a Saturday and the only good thing about it was our bottle of beer. Ordered Bloody Mary's and they honestly had no alcohol nor flavor, just a glass of tomato juice. Disgusting. I couldn't drink more than a few sips and am not very picky about drinks. We ordered some chips as an appetizer which were ok, but overpriced. They came with a long black hair nestled in them. We had already ordered our entrees so just waited it out, but when we found a second long hair of a different color in one of our salads we finally spoke up and they still charged us for half our meal. Awful- will never go back to this CPK which is a shame as I usually like this chain alright.

I ate the bbq chicken salad here because I felt like eating something semi-healthy and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. It was definitely flavorful and I loved the little diced tomatoes on top. I also ate the chipotle chicken pizza; mhmmmmmmmmm mhm mhm the sauce on top was so creamy and the crust was not greasy like other pizzas. Service was nothing special. Waiter wasn't exceptionally friendly but it was Valentines Day so I suppose he didn't want to be working. I always ate the pasta at CPK and was never satisfied until I tried their pizza and salad! Yum.

Food is consistently good. I ordered the California chicken club with avocado with Foccacia onion bread. It came with a choice of soup, so I ordered the Tortilla. Soup was chunky in texture, flavorful and not too salty. Sandwich bread was soft yet crunchy, and meshed well w/ purple onions and avocado. The only problem is that if you come here during your hour lunch break, you are cutting it close. My lesson from today is to phone order and pickup.

Of all the amazing places to eat in downtown, something's not right if you ended up eating here. Yet, there are relentless crowds packed at the door here. Though the fish tacos here aren't bad, come for the pizza! I didn't like the Thai chicken that much, the pesto in the pesto chicken is too weak, and the chipotle is not spicy enough in the chipotle chicken, but I do like the white pizza. Also the pizzas served at the restaurant are not much different from the frozen ones you can get and bake yourself at home.

Some menu updates here are worth noting. There is now a "small plates" menu of salads and lighter dishes and they have added an absolutely delicious Tuscan White Bean soup. So don't think you're confined to pizza. There are some yummy, healthy alternatives. This location has a great patio area for nice weather days. Friendly, upbeat service, too.

I gave this CPK 2 stars when I rated it under the previous manager. well I guess the new owners are on top of things and they demoted and transferred him and promoted Michael to general manager. He is the best manager a restaurant could wish for and the new ownership seems good too. I eat here almost every day and they treat me like family. What more can you ask for from a chain. The other managers are nice to me too and you will find some of the nicest, most attentive waiters in San Francisco at this CPK.

from a vegan's perspective, california pizza kitchen isn't spectacular, but it's decent enough. there's not a plethora of options here but the hummus appetizer is a must. as for the pizza itself, i usually get the vegetarian pizza (without cheese and not on the honey wheat crust.) it's good but i can make better at home. basically, this is the type of place i'd go to if i were visiting a city that was decidedly non-vegan friendly (say las vegas, for instance.) in sf, there's so many other options. even nearby to this location, you've got zpizza (if that's what you're craving) or loving hut at westfield.

This location does seem a little higher priced than other CPK's I've been to. The service was fine...I did have to ask for bread twice. Basically at these prices they should bring bread without having to beg. Soup was great, baja & Thai rolls were excellent. Iced Tea is always good and the bread is great. Expect to spend about 15.00 for a small pizza. Look of the restaurant is great and the location is excellent.

Not happy with the service. Asked waitress if my dish came with red sauce, she said yes, well it didn't. Had to send it back and by the time my dinner arrived everyone else was done eating and I was full on bread. The kids pizza was terrible. My son expected a California Pizza style pizza, (thin crust and at least half way decent) but it looked and tasted like a $1 frozen pizza! The service was really lacking, the food was not that great. Disappointed, not what we expected especially for what we paid.

I shared the Cobb Salad and Roasted Garlic Chicken Pizza with my coworkers after we all found out we got laid-off. *sigh*...what heals wounds better than food? The salad had bits of bacon, avocado, and beets - YUMMY! The pizza was good but nothing earth-shattering. It had mozzarella cheese, parsley, and the mild onions and shallots added a nice crunch to the dish. I definitely LOVED the BIG chunks of garlic. Someone had to brush her teeth after she got back to the office. Yes, she did go back to the office because there was still work to do. *sigh* She is going to miss her team. I don't know what it is about CPK, but I love it! I really don't like chain restaurants usually, but CPK is one of the very few that I actually like. On top of that, this particular location was a lot nicer than the locations here in the South Bay. However, the service is okay. Our waiter was nice, but a little too nice and seemed like he was high. Anyhow, the dishes I return here for are the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich & Szechuan Salad, which I love - and it's very tasty. My boyfriend always gets the Chicken Tequila Pasta, which I think is really good too. Other than that, there's not much on the menu that I really come to CPK for. So I guess this review is more for those two particular dishes. ALSO, I like their Sangria here a lot. Came here the other afternoon with Justin L. and his parents. We're all on a low carb kick, so they were a little skeptical about going to a place with "Pizza" in the name and having good low carb selections. But CPK does a great job of giving their customers variety. We all had various salads. My personal favorite is the Chinese Chicken Salad. And as usual this did not disapoint. Justin had the BBQ Chopped Salad, which he quickly cleaned his plate of. I wish I could give it more stars. But it just lacks the atmosphere and unique-ness that so many other San Francisco restaurants have. But always great service and dependable food. Always a safe choice.

I would have given it 4 stars but the last time my date and I were there, they complained because I did not want to sit at the smaller table reserved for two.... we eventually got a booth but they made a stink about it. I mean really, that wasn't cool. Then the waiter served my date a bad appetizer, bad as in the appetizer appeared to be 2 days old, after mentioning it to the waiter he simply left it on the table, even after bringing out a fresh one. 1st time was Awesome 2nd time the service was a complete let down. would I try it a 3rd time.... yes.

I'd have to say that they're one of the few chains that i like. The menu is nicely diversified and the pizza flavors are original enough to have character. Service here is friendly and helpful. Parking might be a struggle especially in peak hours so i have a proprietary solution for circumventing this issue... Drive here on non-peak hours!

I'm finally becoming a San Franciscan!!! :-D Conference at the Westin Market St day one. Small group decided to go to CPK which is just across the street from the hotel. My first thought was "No!!!!!! We are in SF!!!!!! Why would we go to a chain restaurant when there are thousands of places to be explored?!?!?!" But I chose not to speak my truth and just sighed. :-( It was Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, which surprised me. 20 minute wait for a group of 5. I looked around and couldn't really figure out if the crowd was local or tourists, although in my mind I WAS SURE only tourists would commit such sacrilege. We sat down and it took almost 10 minutes for the waitress to arrive. She was friendly and guaranteed she would get our food fast, as we were pressing for time. After looking at the plethora of choices on the menu and the big portions all around me, I decided for the Tuscan hummus with honey whole-wheat pita. My friend chose the cesar salad with shrimp. Others had salads, soup and the ravioli. She kept her word - the food did come fast. As to my hummus, of course I have had much better and didn't expect to have the hummus of my life at CPK. The pita was very good though. My friend's cesar looked somewhat poor, without pizazz, and I have to say that all the dishes looked like that - just meh. We ate and talked about our experiences at the conference. Nobody was AMAZED by the food, but it served the function of a fast lunch just across the street. When I lived in SoCal I would not think twice if someone suggested CPK, and I would have enjoyed it much more. What can I say? SF has spoiled - and educated - me! Thank God I'm definitely evolving! ;-)

This was our go-to restaurant during a friend's birthday, and every single time there would be sucky service. Their environment is very mellow, and I love that I can see the pizza being made in the oven. Overall, I think this place is good to go to if you're going to for sure do family style. I like their soup and their spaghetti, but I still feel like their portions are decent and their food is overpriced.

No thanks. The prices for a 8-inch pizza are ridiculous - up to $17 for pizzas that seem to get smaller every time I go! I feel like the menu is laughing at me as I read it, taunting me and calling me 'idiot' for spending so much for so little. It's yummy, though I'll only go if someone else is paying.

Dropped in for a quick bite to eat and was by myself. Sat at the counter and had a bbq chicken pizza. I hadn't been to a cal pizza kitchen in years and the pizza was decent .... about like I remember it. If you are near market street and 4th this place has lots of tables, isn't that pricey , and has relatively quick service.

I've only been here twice and enjoyed it a lot both times. The environment is laid back and welcoming. The service is friendly but pretty slow. The price is pretty high and the serving size for pasta is a bit small. I recommend the white pizza.

The Korean taco was not very good. They were extremely small, and almost flavorless. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza was small also, but it was good. It was kinda pricey for pizza though. I guess they were trying to make it fancy or whatnot. If you're craving large portions of pizza, then don't bother coming here. The restaurant is very gimmicky.

Jus ate here with my girl got seated right away. Our waiter was cool kept seeing if we needed anything. We ordered jamaican jerky chicken and BBQ chicken pizzas. The food came fast and they were delicious. My girl ordered a mojito it was pretty good. Overall this place was good we will come back soon. Also it's kid friendly which is a nice atmosphere for the whole family. And they play the giants game can't complain!!!!

First, this place stunk! It wasn't the cheese, sorry, it was more like a city bum sitting behind us! Gross!!! As for the food, average to below average. We were all starving when we got there, so we immediately ordered the avocado chicken club egg roll and the artichoke dip for appetizers, and they were ok, nothing special. Then we ordered the wild mushroom pizza, the work, the fish taco, and the chicken alfredo. The pizza came out barely warm, and the crust was way too sweet, what happened to the steamy hot mouth watering CPK pizza??? I was so disappointed. I didn't taste the fish taco or the alfredo, but they both seemed very average. On a positive note, the service was decent. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating throughout, and the store manager came to check on us couple times. Yet, I don't think I'll go back for the smell nor the food.

I was skeptical about going to this location because of how much I hate the crowd in union square but it actually wasn't too busy which was nice. As soon as I walked in I was led to my seat by a nice woman, and my server introduced himself (I want to say his name was jeremy but I'm not certain). He was really nice and helpful in suggesting things for me. I ended up getting a caesar salad, the mushroom pizza and a super sweet apple crisp for dessert. I got my food pretty quick and everything was top notch excellent. The caesar salad was simple but delicious, the mushroom pizza was just awesome with so many mushrooms on it, and the apple crisp was surprisingly good, if not a bit too sweet. The service was absolutely fantastic and my server kept refilling my mango italian soda constantly! This CPK is a great example of what makes a restaurant good. Even though it's a chain the service, food and portions (not oversized like most pizza joints) are all excellent. The prices are actually pretty reasonable in my opinion: my salad, pizza, dessert and drink cost right about $38. Considering the quality of the food that's quite endurable. I will definitely be coming back to this CPK.

I've eaten in CPK's from Alpharetta to Scottsdale! They all are pretty much the same. Dependable. You know what you are going to get no matter what the longitude & latitude is. My favorite is the Chinese Chicken Salad. Pizza is good too . . not outstanding, but good. Today I went to lunch with a friend at the new one on Third Street. I decided to venture from my standard salad and have Fettuccini with Garlic Cream Sauce. Without chicken or shrimp. After all it was just a simple lunch. No reason to overdo it. I was extremely disappointed. Heavy, gooey, thick, dry. Yes, dry fettuccini. And I had only myself to blame that there were no shrimp in there to loosen it up a little. A few shrimp and some brocolli would have helped enormously. And definitely more garlic. Lots more. I tried adding lots of pepper, but to no avail. It wasn't bad, just not good. And my friend's wonderful Miso salad was calling me from across the table . . . . . "NEXT TIME GET ME, NEXT TIME GET ME, NEXT TIME GET ME!" I will. Next time. THREE STARS because the Fettuccini today was not up to par, or anywhere close to it. Next time I go in I'll update this review, if the food is up to the standards I have grown to expect of CPK. Service was excellent today. Five stars.

I came here to eat on a cold day after visiting the SF MOMA. It was nice to sit at one of the circular couch tables with friends instead of the tables. For a chain restaurant, CPK is pretty good. I'd definitely say that their pizzas are more upscale than most of America's pizza chains and definitely has more of a variety and uniqueness than most places. Plus their thin crust pizzas are delicious! You can eat more pieces of pizza with thin crust rather than the regular, bready kind of crust. The six of us ordered: The vegetarian with Japanese eggplant pizza (tasty, but there was barely any eggplant!) Greek pizza (My favorite out of all; the crunchy cucumbers were a nice addition) Italian Basil (pizza with basil, a pretty basic pizza but nevertheless delicious) Hawaiin BBQ pizza: compared to our other orders, it was just okay, I've tasted better. The pizzas, although decent sized, left us a bit hungry.

I don't have a single complaint about this CPK. I've been to it about 3 or 4 times since it's located right inside my parking garage, and just steps away from my office, church, etc. Very convenient. My latest favorite is the chicken garlic pizza. Delicious! They have many different choices of pizza. I don't know of too many other local pizza places that do the same thing. Service here is always been friendly and efficient. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Restrooms are also clean, which is a plus. Great spot for workday lunch, easy dinner or to-go.

UM ok, so first thing i noticed was that this CPK was serving hard alcohol, amazing, but they do not have a happy hour.... hmmm. The food is the same how it is at any other CPK, but the service is mediocre. We didn't receive the usual complementary bread, maybe our waitress forgot? We ordered lemonade and strawberry lemonade, and the waitress brought around a canister filled regular lemonade and would fill the strawberry lemonade glass up with it, and dilute the strawberry flavor. So strawberries are red right? I'm pretty sure she noticed the change in colors, unless she was umm color blind... also she spilled lemonade on the table and never came back to clean it up, umm ok... I would eat here again just with another server.

Had a great first time at California Pizza Kitchen. It was right before the Chinese New Year Parade and my boyfriend was hankering for their appetizers for dinner. He remembered them fondly. So we went in quickly to find quick service and his appetite satisfied. Highly recommend the 3? mix n match varieties of tortilla spring rolls, spinach dip, and mexican taco salad.

Last week My colleague and I had decided to have a quick lunch. We both ordered the new island item called Roasted Vegetables with Salmon. We waited for over 30 minutes and our waiter was nowhere to be found, so we flaged down a passing waitress inquired about the status of our lunch. Instead of taking care of the situation, immediately her respond was "it's not the waiter's fault". What she failed, was to listen. all we did was asking if she can look into our orders since we only ordered two simple salads. A few minutes later our roasted salad with salmon were dropped off and we had to ask for bread. The salmon were crispy, tasted more like a deep fried Salmon, since we had lost all the time waiting our lunch we did not say anything to the server. We had to quickly chow down our lunch and ran back to the office. To add insult to a bad lunch experience my colleague ended up with an upset stomach, I called the restaurant manager, he was somewhat apologetic and when I told him about the taste on the salmon, he insisted that they do not deep fried the fish. I told him in our case the salmons in our salad were crunchy. Not sure if I will go back again. Oh well there is Lulu and they makes great Pizza and Salad as well

So fast at the counter. If you are in the Financial District and need to get a quick lunch, this is your place. BUT, you should sit at the counter top in the back. Here's the key: look at the menu on the front door before you go in. Decide. Then as soon as you sit down order. Skip all of the "oh what do you want to drink?" mumbo jumbo. You're busy. You don't have time. You are taking over the world. THEN pay before your order arrives. I had the soup(s). You can do this thing where they'll put two soups into the same bowl. It was so good. The service was prompt, but the waiter was a bit queeny. In all fairness, he was fine and did a great job. Don't half step. Order the soup and be in and out within 10 minutes.

Today I ate here for the 4th or 5th time. It's a chain, so I am giving it 4 starts in context as a chain. It does not pretend to be anything it is not, and what it does, it does well. CPK is clean. The service is always good. The decor is bright, open and cheery. The bathrooms are impressively clean. They usually have my diet coke refill on the table before I am half finished my first one. Both recent times I've been there with a 10+ person party, and they have tripped over themselves to serve us and accommodate us. The food, for a chain, is decent. The menu has a lot of items but they are all variations on salad, pizza, pasta, chicken. Even the pickiest eaters can find something they like, and the ingredients taste pretty fresh for a chain. I'm a fan of their Thai chicken pizza. Today I had the Thai Chicken Salad (dressing on the side), and it too was good. I've never had an issue there. It's a solid, reliable lunchtime experience, especially for groups. You won't have a meal that will be unique or blow you away, but then again, it won't break the bank either. I've never walked out hungry.

I love this place (although almost everyone looks miserable working here). Spinach Artichoke dip is amazing. It should be made into a soup. Pastas are good, pizzas are good and so are the salads. There's never really a wait so it's good if you're starving, but it is quite difficult to find parking. I could eat here everyday. Seriously.

CA chain restaurants are now required to post calories on their menu, and yes, CPK has started doing just that! This is very beneficial, since it's the only chain I lunch at on a regular basis because it's across the street from our office. Let's face it: I'm not getting any younger (metabolism is shot to hell), and I need to maintain this svelte figure. Unfortunately, I discovered that my two favorite pastas (Chicken Tequila Fettuccine and Garlic Cream Fettuccine with chicken and mushrooms) are some of the worst things to get on the menu. Boo :( However, I now have a new favorite pasta (the Portobello Mushroom Ravioli with garlic-parmesan cream sauce and mushrooms) which is a lot fewer in calories. The portion is big enough for me to split into two meals, so it's even fewer after halving it. Yay! Oh, I also learned that the Thai Crunch Salad is also super high in calories. More than the ravioli dish! Double boo :( BUT, the new Moroccan Chicken Salad is very low in calories, and it's very delicious: Moroccan-spiced chicken breast with crisp Romaine lettuce, roasted butternut squash, Medjool dates, fresh avocado, toasted almonds, fresh beets, chopped egg, carrots, dried cranberries and red bell peppers. Tossed with champagne vinaigrette. Thank you CA lawmakers for saving my waistline!

Yes, I was on vacation & I ate at a California Pizza Kitchen. Guessing none of my friends will stumble upon this review, so here goes. Having just come from 3 weeks of vacation in very warm weather, was (unexpectedly) shocked by the cold SF October night. Was staying at the Westin & needed a very close dinner option that only required a fashionable scarf to get to. Marched across the street to CPK, ordered up a classic BBQ chicken salad, bolted back to my room & was pretty happy. They have a special take out counter & my food was ready so quickly. They also offer half portions of their salads, which turned out to be the perfect amount. I was transported back to my fat days in college with the world's least healthy salad: saucy chicken, cheese, ranch dressing, bbq sauce. It was perfect. Just don't tell anyone I was there.

Wow, dinner and entertainment!! It was like a dinner theater experience. The food here was typically CPK wonderful, but the service really set it apart from others. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. It wasn't too busy, but that didn't stop her from providing great service. I find that restaurants in this area always provide a level of entertainment, and this one was no different. We cracked up listening to the gay guys behind us flashing back and forth between the football game and fashions for their dogs... too funny! For dinner I had the tortilla soup (terrific) and a tostada pizza on the wheat dough. I don't really like the wheat (I know it's better for you), but they lost that wonderful, ever so slight hint of sweetness from the regular dough. My friend got the BLT pizza and said it was fabulous (dang it, I thought about that one!). I don't know how this place runs when it's busy, but I would bet that it runs well. There is a level of organization to this restaurant that works whether it's busy or slow.

I like CKP as a chain in general. (I'm not usually fond of chains, unless they're made of gold.) I like this location in particular because I'm a symphony/opera subscriber, and this is the perfect place for a pre-concert dinner. It's near my office in the FiDi, and a couple of blocks to the subway. The Van Ness CPK tends to fill up early with pre-concert diners, but I've never had a wait at the Third Street location. The food's very decent (I'm all over their mushroom pizza), and the service is reliably good. They have decent wine, and we can get in and out with plenty of time to get ourselves over to the opera house/symphony hall.

This one's a no brainer - 4-stars all the way to Mars! 1. Food is good, tasty and consistently dependable: - I've had the bruschetta for appetizers and any of the pasta dishes that had a white wine sauce for a main course. - The chicken rolls are good too. Light fare with good guacamole - Try the pesto pasta - very nice! Also tried the jambalaya with shrimp which knocked my knickers off... ok... just my briefs with how savory and spicy it was! - Wine selection is not bad. Had a Pinot Noir which was nice, fruity and went very well with any of the pasta dishes. Have a decent selection of beers as well as draft beers... it ain't no Pilsner but does the trick. 2. Service staff is friendly but definitely a wee bit quirky (thanks for giving the right word, Jessica T.!): - Sometimes uber friendly and approachable, then again, sometimes somewhat standoffish, and then again, sometimes a bit lost. - But last time I went there, the chef in training cooked my dinner with the wrong kind of pasta and the server was apologetic, and offered to send it back which was thoughtful. I had it as is... why waste food... its just pasta! 3. Location: - Nice location and almost a quiet getaway when you walk in from noisy 3rd street - Great place I visit sometimes on the way back from work when I'm too lazy to cook, want to load up on carbs and a nice glass of wine, a book and some quiet time - Noise level is low so if you like a quiet meal, head here - Never tried the outdoor seating just because 3rd street can be a wind tunnel some days but think they have heat lamps All in all, nice place, dependable, consistent, good food, good ambience and definitely a chain I frequent regularly either by myself or with friends. Thumbs up to you guys, CPK!

As much I don't want to give them a 3.. I just have to.. My last visit here was just terrible. I went there for my friends birthday dinner.. so there's about 16 people and I would imagine having 16 people.. shouldn't we get good customer service since HELLO, it's a big party and hello.. big tip right? WRONG! It was frustrating getting the waitress attention. Not only that, they did not even bother come poor our drinks. I had to get up MYSELF, walk to the water jugs and poured the water for my friends. But since the ice tea jug was next to the water, I just took that and poured it for my friends. Definitely NOT loving there service at all! I'd give it 3 star because there BBQ Chicken Pizza is gooood.. so, next time I'll just call in to order.

2 Stars: not because of the food but "What the heck" factor. It's Saturday night and two of us. The attendant tells us it'll be a 15 minute wait. We look around and there are 13 tables open. OK maybe they are expecting a ton of reservations. NOT. 15 minutes later we're seated. And now there are 14 tables open. What gives? Trying to build a buzz factor with people waiting in the lobby to attract street traffic? Come on, your CPK.

I'm new to San Francisco but if there's one thing I love, it's the tostada pizza from CPK. I got an offer in my e-mail for $5 off but of course I have no printer yet but CPK was kind enough to honor my coupon (I showed it to them from my iPhone). So, the least I can do in return is write them a well-deserved review. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious (hard to find that in San Francisco) and the service is really timely (you won't find a long wait). Everyone is very chipper but not obnoxious to the point that you can see right through it. The food is great, I cannot stress that enough. But when you come to CPK, you know what to expect (at least if you have been there before) so I really am looking for a fun or relaxing dinner and that is exactly what you can get. The noise level is appropriate, too. All in all, I'll definitely be coming here more often than not because the service and food together make for an excellent experience!

Have come here at least once annually with 15 of my colleagues for birthday lunch. Outstanding service, great menu choices, and pretty reasonable prices. Favorites are the BLT eggrolls and the California Club pizza. If you want a place where you can share food with a large group, this is it.

Since I moved to San Francisco I have not been to CPK once. There are so many good mom and pop pizza shops in this city I actually felt bad coming here. The only reason I went to CPK this week is because I had an event to go to at Yerba Buena Gardens and I was with a CPK noob! That's right! She has NEVER been to CPK before. I guess as a Cali girl this just seems like a obvious dinner spot. When we sat at the bar memories started shooting back to me as I remembered the cool counter top, open flame fire, and the amazing smell pizza goodness in the air. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza (not too adventurous because I had to ween the noob in a bit) and their amazing Cobb Salad. Of course we shared. All I can say is I got the CPK fever after enjoying this taste from home restaurant. I will be coming back to get my favorite Chipotle Chicken Pizza, which is just to die for! YUM!

OK, so the food was fine and our server very nice... but the kitchen took FOREVER today to get us our lunch... I finally got tired of waiting so when my food was finally ready I just asked for a to-go box. Yes, I understand they recently opened and are ironing out the kinks... I will be back and am hopeful they will improve their wait time. ***UPDATE*** I've been back several times since my previous review- they're much faster now! The thin crust pizzas are my faves.... but swimsuit season is here so it's on to the chopped salad or lettuce wrap for me now. BOO.

I love the pizza @ CPK. However, this CPK is differ from the one that I had in Salt Lake City. The service in Salt Lake City is way better than the one down in Downtown SF. I like the location which is really convenience for me to get to. The food is great. My favorite dishes are the Thai Cruch Salad & Jamaican Jerk Chicken pizza.

Had lunch here today and it was great. Fast, overly-friendly service. I think they just hired a bunch of valley guys and girls.... "Like, TOTALLY!!!" or maybe the owner/management dudes were in because everyone was killin me with the "Would you like some BREAD AND BUTTER!!!!???" as if I was winning the fucking lottery. calm down folks, it's margarine. I think I was asked no less than 8 times. That being said, little CPK did not dissapoint : once I tuned out the scrunchy heads and got down to the business of eating. I ordered the tortilla soup, a personal fave and within the blink of an eye it was on my table. Don't know what everyone was talking about with 'slow service'. Clearly they've been reading Yelp because all I saw was a bunch of people bust'n ass. The new place is really nicely and SPACIOUSLY laid out. Which is brilliant IMO. I'm tired of cramped seating in SF and this place, like the new mall, feels nice and spread out even during a busy lunch hour. I will definitely be returning for more soup.

Went here on opening night, so obviously wasn't expecting a great experience. Funny how a brand new place always gets some leeway with service. Shouldn't we expect great, attentive service on the first day? So we walk up and there are 2-3 mgr looking types standing outside. Welcoming committee, I thought. Nope, they didn't say a word. They were just chatting amongst themselves. And they did work there. Go inside and were seated right away. No reservations and no wait? Nice. It's so refreshing to go somewhere where the tables aren't crammed next to each other. They seriously must have had every employee there that night. Easily 5 people just standing by the kitchen doing nothing at any one time. Yet it took 10 minutes for the waiter to come over to get our drink order. I felt bad for the guy, I think it was his first service job. His voice was cracking and he was all nervous. So nervous it just makes you uncomfortable. Every CPK I've been to has had really good service. They'll do the little things like take the straw wrappers away. This one didn't do that. Food was typical CPK. Except for the bread. It was sourdough. Every other CPK I've been to uses the same French bread. I'm torn, traditional bread vs. new fangled bread?

Yes, they opened a California Pizza Kitchen around the corner from my work. Just what I needed. right? Well, at least I have to walk over and get it. That is much better then getting it delivered, right? CPK does not really fit onto my $10 a day lunch budget, but when I got to get a BBQ chicken pizza, this is the only place. Looks like it's really hooping at lunch, so for now, I think I will stick to calling in my order!

San Francisco pizza shall never win 5 stars. My first experience with this new storefront on 3rd street was pretty much what I expected: An above-average pizza at an outrageous price and a long wait. But the staff seemed to have their act together for the most part, and as the months roll by, we'll see if I'm still able to vouch for these smiling faces. On the first visit, I had to grab a pizza-to-go, and though the pizzas take 25 - 30 minutes to bake, I was not notified about this until toward the end of the wait. I'll let that slide, since they're still working out all of their communication kinks. Jamaican jerk chicken doesn't really make for a very good pizza, since it's too sweet. But I would expect the other toppings to work much better. The second visit wasn't as pleasant. I ordered fettucini with garlic and mushrooms, which ROYALLY SUCKED MY TIGHT ASS! Good lord, that was horrible! I will try this ho-hum joint once more, but $13-$15 for a mini pizza is just too much, unless you're at a pizzeria in Chicago!

I am generally pretty easy to please. But this place should be closed for good for health reasons. I have never seen any place with such a dirty plates in my life. There were 3 new plates for extra use on the table. I lifted one to pass to family and 2nd dish had left over long pasta. At first, I thought it was just a mistake. I reach to next table to get a clean dish and some more left over food was on the dish which was a dark color, might has been a left over chocolate cake. Well, I thought it was just another mistake, decided to wipe the dish with napkin and wait for our order because I was very hungry at that time. When I was wiping 3rd dish, more food came out, this time, from back of the 3rd dish and food covered one third of the dish. By then I had it! I didn't want to get sick eating at the place like that. I don't know what SF Dept of Health is doing. This place should be closed for good or respect what people are eating!!! Of course, by the time our food came, I had to leave the place. Hell No!!! (I often wondered before why some people got sick and have died after eating at some of the restaurants.... )

I came here for a work lunch. It's a chain, which means it isn't very exciting and the waiter was a bit too goofy and enthusiastic. Someone needs to lay off of the flair. But the food was pretty good. I'm just glad I wasn't paying because I don't think it was worth it.

We came in from the wind and cold and found the place warm and hospitable. We had tried to find a couple of highly recommended places, like Dottie's True Blue Cafe, but they seemed in really seedy parts of town. This place was situated nicely across from the Westin in a better spot to dine in the evening. The staff was very friendly and the food came quickly. If you are looking for a low-acid dish, try the white pizza with garlic spinach.

I guess it makes me kinda trashy to give five stars to a chain restaurant, but I don't care. These people did a great job. Decided to go here on a lunch break. Placed my order by phone. After I hung up, I got a call back from the hostess saying she forgot to ask if I wanted the vegetarian option or not with a specific item that we were getting. I was impressed by her effort to get the order right. Most places in the city wouldn't give a rat's ass, let alone call you back. After 20 minutes, I walked over and upon entering the restaurant I was immediately greeted by a very nice host and hostess who directed me to the take out area. Walking to the back, I got a full view of the place. The decor is very clean and modern and it looks like they paid a good chunk of mula to get the place to look the way it does. I got to the take out area where my food was waiting and to my astonishment there was an actual person manning the desk. 90% of the time I always have to flag somebody down to ring up a take out order, but here they're actualy smart about it, and have someone manning the booth. Amazing!! The host was very nice and pointed out a few discounts I could get on my next order. On the way out I was using both hands to carry my boxes. The front desk host jumped up and practically fell over himself to get the door for me. It seems everyone there is dedicated to making the whole experience great!

CPK is great for its nice variety of original pizzas. If it's your first time coming to CPK, or you haven't had it before, you NEED to order the Thai Chicken pizza. I've never came here and tried something that I didn't like. I think I've had over 10 different styles of pizzas? They have all been good. In fact, these pizzas are really good for a chain. Also, service is good at this location, never been let down.

This is a brand spanking new store in the chain of California Pizza Kitchens. It's right across from the Argent hotel on 3rd between Market and Mission. It is so new it hasn't opened yet :) Ok so I'm a server there, and yes I'm biased. But honestly, these are my favorite dishes that I would get even if I had to forego by 50% employee discount: 1) Avocado Egg Rolls 2) Baja Tortilla Rolls (mediterrannean are ok, not a fan of the thai) 3) SPINICH DIP 4) BBQ chicken pizza 5) SICILIAN pizza 6) waldorf salad 7) shrimp scampi pizza 8) chicken piccata Hey, I resent the remarks about unattentive service, we are super duper nice and always around. They have personal size pizza and it's expensive. It's good. Ordered some pasta thing from here and it was too bland for me. It was like pasta tossed in olive oil and a few veggies. Wow!!! I could make this myself at home. It was freakin' expensive! Service is so slow even for pickup. They are friendly but this may have been when they first opened. I never went back again. I tried the frozen pizza and it was so plain tasting.

It's a little on the expensive side, but the food is very good, fast service and the waiters/waitresses are VERY friendly and helpful. I go there a lot (a little embarrassing I know, but sometimes you just get that craving!) and every single server I've had has been exceptional. The desserts are pretty good too. Yum, now I want some CPK.

The food was pretty good - I dont understand hiding the pizza itself (a California Club) under a layer of shredded lettuce. I'm a naturally suspicious, and immediately wondered what was being hidden under the greens. Luckily, it was just good pizza. Bullet dodged! The starter was pretty meh - herb bread with tomato salsa. And the drinks weren't very strong. Also: be careful if you decide to order the Cherry Limeade cocktail - much like me, it tastes good, but looks embarrassing!

Let me start off on a bad note... I wonder if this one and the one in Emryville are managed by the same person; because at both the service leaves much to be desired. At this one, we got there and the place was only about half full, but there was still a few parties waiting to be seated and no one around the front to great people. After about 5 minutes, the 2 groups in front of us got seated, and then they skipped right past the 2 of us and seated the lady standing behind us! We would have walked out if we werent so tired from work that day. Thankfully our waitress was much better then the hostess and the rest of the meal went great. Even though I still wish CPK would freshen up the ingredients of the food with a bit better quality. We left the waitress a good tip because she was great, but wished we could have made a note, not to split it with the front staff. This CPK was odd because usually its the host staff that is great and the servers that suck.

YES FINALLY CPK HAS OPENED!!! I have been watching this place being put together since the beginning. At first I thought... gosh I wonder what could possibly be going in here? Then that magical day came when I walked by and saw "Coming Soon in Spring of 2007 California Pizza Kitchen". I quickly picked up my phone and called my sisters to brag that I would soon have this delicious dining experience only a block from my work place. I was shocked to go in opening day and not find the place packed. I know its a chain and the food is a little over priced for what you get but the BBQ chicken salad is something to talk about. I also went for the very very fatty artichoke spinach dip and suddenly became the most popular person in my office. I will most definitely eat here at least once a week for the 2 reasons. one that I am so extremely tired of what the 1st-3rd Mission Street area has to offer and I love this place. Oh god... my clothes are never going to fit the same again are they?

Came in with the girlfriend after picking her up after work, took about 20 minutes for the waitress Rachel to come back after giving us the menus. She said she was sorry but there was a large crowd that came in, so I guess I'm not that important, because you want to get the tips from the big crowd, and show how awesome of a waitress you are. I was about to leave, and walk to Chevy's up the street. Took an other 10-15 minutes to get our food, for waiting that long I usually order something and leave. I left a tip just out of respect the waitress really just deserve my 35 cent left over change, but I left roughly 10% tip. Food was ok, I think it tasted bad to me because I was mad for waiting for so long.

TGIPizza!! Handy spot, but the pizza is more like a focaccia with too many thingies toppings. Tasty, but chain store weird- i.e. the BLT with chicken chunks won tons served with 2 creamy dressings. Weird. Wacky pizza novelties like Mango Tandoori chicken or Carne Asada. I think it's pizza for when you don't really want pizza, but not sure what else you want and there's enough taste categories to take care of your entire party's wants and needs, and it's close enough to pizza to pass. Or for when you do want pizza but don't have time to get to a proper pizza parlor. Not that the food is bad, it's just an unusual dimension of dining out that has been completely productized and demographically tested and tailored to a generic yet enticing dining experience. You can totally imagine the Food Engineers brainstorming and testing the pizza features. I like to imagine the moment when the person In Charge says; "It's a GO". One star for great service and the adorable little take out box for the extra slices.

I really like this place. The mushroom sausage pepperoni is heaven. the only bad thing is just a little too expensive for pizza. But overall the atmosphere was great, not too bright and not too dimmed. Everything was exactly how i liked it. they even give separate checks if you need it no matter how many people you have there. so thats pretty cool. If you go there im sure they won't disappoint you.

I tried this pizza for the first time and it was delicious! I tried 'the works' and the 'Thai chicken' and they were both good, but I liked the Thai chicken the best. The California Pizza Kitchen has a wide variety of unusual pizzas and also the normal pizzas that you would find everywhere. I like the specialty pizzas. They also serve pasta and salads. I happened to try a little bit of the pesto cream penne and the four cheese ravioli and thought they were both tasty as well. The pizzas might seem small, but they are filling. They definitely have something for everyone!

This is the most gorgeous CPK I have ever been to! The interior is really well decorated and designed. There is a patio out front with heat lamps and those clear plastic walls. The main dining room is decked out in warm honey tones with lots of wood and stone. There are a lot of counter seats and overlook the open kitchen. I went last Saturday and the crowd was very white (probably 95%) and looked touristy. Onto the food - yes, it is a chain, but I really like CPK. The food was consistent and tasted just how I expected it to. For starters we shared the spinach artichoke dip and The Works pizza. The dip is really good and came with blue and white tortilla chips. I think it tastes better with the plain white tortilla chips. The Works pizza was ok - nothing special. Apparently it is a new addition to the menu. For the entrees, I ordered the Chicken Tequila Fettuccine. It's really unique and it's not something you find easily anywhere else. I like the tangyiness of it. The portion size is medium, but definitely filling since it's on the oily side. We also ordered the Fettuccine with Garlic Cream sauce with chicken. It was good, but nothing special. The Chicken Marsala, on the other hand, was fantastic! It came with 3 generously sizes pieces of chicken and a side of pasta with asparagus and mushrooms. The sauce is fantastic! I highly recommend this dish. For dessert, we ordered the Hot Fudge Brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. I am not a big chocolate fan when it comes to desserts, but I must say this was damn good. The brownie was rich and soooo good! Because there are a few new pizza additions to the menu, it looks like they have discontinued my FAVORITE one...the Pear Gorgonzola with the salad on top. I was very, very bummed. :( Overall, I would definitely go back. It wasn't that crowded (even on Saturday night), but that might be because it's sort of tucked away despite being close to Union Square and downtown. I don't think they have really advertised this location. This place is great if you're looking for Cheesecake Factory-esque food, but don't want to wait two hours.

Not my all time favorite place to eat at, but it is up on the list. It's quiet most of the time (there is the occasional group that can get pretty loud, but if you're in one of the booths, it isn't bad). I love the foccatia sandwiches! They are off the hook, ya'll. The Ceasar Salad is pretty good, if you do the bunny food thing. If you're looking for a quick bite in a pretty darn decent place, this is where you should stop. It is a convenient location too!!

I am a chain restaurant pasta whore. I'd walked up and down Market street on a rainy Monday alone and famished long enough. I just wanted to be by myself. I'd declined two lunches from co-workers and other people at the conference. But I was starving, ravenous and strangely enough, eventhough I'd walked past tons of restaurants, delis, taco trucks, you name it, nothing was doing it for me. I wanted a big bowl of chowder in one of those bread bowls. Couldn't find it. Maybe I'd walked the wrong way out of the Hyatt. Anyway, I passed a guy with a CPK bag and thought hmmm...maybe that'll work. One of those huge bowls of pasta. So I turn on 3rd Street, cross my fingers. Yesss! I found it. Bellied up to the bar and ordered the shrimp, asparagus, spinach linguine. No tomatoes I say. The server assures me she can leave them on the side and refers to them as cecco. She also guarantees the dish and if I don't like it, she guarantees I can either get something else or get that dish fixed up to my liking. Well now that is an offer I can't refuse. When my dish comes, so does a huge dish of warm tomato, basil & garlic. Just the thing a person who originally asked for no tomatoes wants: a whole bowl of warm tomatoes, basil, & garlic. So I start in on the dish. It is fair. It could use some garlic cream sauce and some parmesan cheese. I pick at it till she comes back to ask how it is. Before I could even say "it needs help" she says "it needs something doesn't it?" I agree. So I send it back for the garlic cream sauce treatment. While I'm waiting, I ask for bread. Everyone else seems to have it but me. Oh well, no sweat. When the dish finally comes back out, I am in chain restaurant pasta heaven again. So creamy and swirly and mmmm good.

You can go to Escape From New York Pizza - 3 small blocks away and get double that. 10/04/07 - GAVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE!! I went to this going away party for my coworker. I ordered the chicken in white garlic sauce noodles. PORTION CONTROL PEOPLE - PORTION CONTROL. Who are you feeding a 1st grader? There was barely a cup on my plate. Who the hell is in charge of portions there? Well, I guess I should of went with my gut feeling and ate somewhere else and then just go to CPK just for drinks. 14 bucks for a cup of food?

CPK is what it is. Consistent. Filling. Everyone can find something that appeals to their personal craving. Although I don't subscribe to the "barbecue sauce is a good substitute for marina" philosophy, I do subscribe to the "two soups in a bowl" is a darn good idea philosophy. The real reason I am so happy this CPK opened is that there is a complete lack of decent food in the downtown area after dark. I love that I can grab take out after a late night workout at the SCLA.

Yummy, CPK reminds me of home in Pasadena. A high school friend and I came here for dinner last night and had a tasty meal. The atmosphere of the dining room is warm and the open kitchen with the wood oven gives the restaurant a homey feel. The menu is big and filled with many options. I settled for the CPK tropical tea with rum, lemonade and ice tea. It was tasty, but a bit on the weaker side. For dinner, I ordered a cup of the split pea & barley soup and a half order of the Original BBQ Chicken chopped salad - my favorite dish ever! Both were delicious and I was not disappointed at all. The half size portion is very generous and I ended up taking some home. Our server was very sweet and though she made some mistakes, it didn't matter. I had asked for the dressing on the side for my salad and it came with dressing and when I mentioned it, she apologized right away and put in a new order. She also accidentally brought the wrong drink to our table, but let us keep it. Woohoo! Free alcohol! and I also enjoy the free bread. :-)

She barely came by, some of her other tables even moved mid-dinner to other waiters sections. If you get her section, ask for another.

CPK is the perfect "fine dining" (read: expensive) establishment to make your clients feel at ease without the penalty of appearing cheap. It's also a great dinner stop before you catch a flick at the Metreon, or if you need a shopping break from the SF Centre. Creativity is their niche when it comes to the pastas, pizzas, and salads - all things BBQ and Thai are tasty here. But be warned - steering too far away from the menu might raise your expectations beyond their actual bread and butter. In other words, you can get Thai noodles, but don't expect them to have chili sauce to accompany it. :)

I just don't know where to start. i am trying to find the positive in CPK, but finding it difficult. OK, how about this? They seated our party of 6 promptly, no waiting. OH, I know! The boss did pay, so I at least I felt like I got my money's worth. I was completely underwhelmed by this place and I wasn't expecting much. I mean, after all, it is fast food pizza trying to be something that it's not. And I'm not even sure what that is. Anybody? I decided to order something safe, so got a pasta dish. I don't remember exactly which one, but that kind of sums up my whole experience there... forgettable. And they must be hard up for staff. They seemed way too friendly. The kind of awkward, personal-space-invading, trying-way-too-hard friendly. The waiter made a presumptive comment to me that was completely inappropriate, especially since he didn't know me, and I was with co-workers. (Note-to-self: do not hire people in a service industry who have bad personal editors.)

Hmm...CPK here was a disappointment. Oh and I can't believe bread is free. The waitress didn't give it to us so we figured the other people there were paying extra for that bread and butter. Not Cool. The pastas that we ordered were ok but the waitress forgot the chicken in mine. She suggested to bring the chicken for free, and I said ok. She brought it and left it at the table, saying nothing. Oh and the chicken was not tender... Overall, food was ok. Just ok. But the half-assed service and no bread and butter forced me to knock off 1 more star from my original rating of 3 stars.

For too long now I've kept my love of CPK a shameful secret. I thought I was the only one, but no, here you guys are, hello! Actually I love all types of pizza from the traditional thin-crusted Italian style to giant doughy American pizzas! In fact, Costco makes a really good pizza. While my all-time favorite is the Godfather at Rare Earth in Scottsdale ( yelp.com/biz/rare-earth-â€¦ ), I've also been enjoying CPK pizzas for many years. This one on Market is incredibly convenient, always a nice warm oasis from the cold and crazy people, and open till 11:00pm on Friday/Saturday. Prices are a little on the high side but their selection is huge and the big-black-book-of-pizza-rules ensures that you'll never be disappointed by an inconsistent pie.

While it is a chain, I still love me some CPK. They have really good pizza and pasta dishes. I've been to the one on Van Ness and others on the Peninsula, but this location is the best. I had dinner with some friends for a b'day and the service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and always checking if we needed something without being a bug-a-boo. Having recently fell off the Vegetarian wagon, I indulged in the Tequila Chicken Fettuccine. One of the best pasta dishes on the menu!! I also tried some of the Buffalo Chicken pizza which was really good. The food is pretty much the same at every CPK, but what made this location stand out was the service. The manager stopped by our table to check on us, which was a nice gesture. Even when we left, the hostess asked us if we enjoyed our meal. At chain restaurants, it's the little things like that that make the meal worthwhile. I'd definitely visit this CPK again in the future. Some tips if you visit this location: They validate if you park in the Hearst Building Garage after 6pm, which means you have to park after six. (I misunderstood that and ended up having to pay $19 bucks to park for a few hours!!). Validation is only a discount, not free. My friend paid $11 for a few hours. Depending on when you go, street parking may be available. Also, they take reservations for parties of 8 or more.

We go here for lunch once in a while and I've been evenings too. Nothing in here is healhty, but the pizzas are actually really good and some pretty creative things on the menu. You need to be really hungry.. these things are heavy. My favourite is the toasted hazelnuts with pear and gorgonzola. Service is awesome and prices are okay. A solid and consistent pizza place.

My favorite CPK in the city. They have the usual chain fare, Pizza's, Pasta's, Salad's, the whole shebang. Absolutely try the White Pizza, its loaded with feta cheese, alfredo sauce and spinach, and is out of this world. Their Hummus and Pita and the Artichoke dip are the bomb, a must try. The service is awesome usually and they have a pretty stacked bar. They make a mean Mango Mojito, give it try.

i used to go to california pizza kitchen in walnut creek quite a bit. i have had many things in the many years but all i want from cpk is the bbq chopped chicken salad. this is one of my favorite salad's ever. chopped lettuce, black beans, sweet corn, jicima, cilantro, basil, crispy corn tortilla strips and monterey jack cheese tossed together in a garden-herb ranch dressing. tossed with chopped bbq chicken breast, diced tomato's and scallions. mmmmm so damn scrumptious. the menu has a very wide variety of creative and very consistent items from sandwiches, pasta's salads, and of course pizza's the pizza menu is large and very creative but the quality of the pizza is just as good if i were to get one from my frozen section to bake at home. the bbq chicken, thai chicken and jamaican jerk chicken are my favorites. but you still cant beat digorno!! lol i only wish they had more if the creative pizza's from the restaurant available in my freezer section.

Honestly not impressed. For a place that calls itself a "pizza kitchen" you would think that they would actually be good. I guess I'm just a snob or something, but for the price you pay for the pizza I would think it would have been better. Plus some of the appetizers were rather plain. The up side of this little trip was when a waiter dropped some plates and splattered guests with sauce. Not funny for them, but hilarious from where I was sitting. Then he progressed to giggle and start picking up the plates while saying "I am so fired!". So two stars simply for the entertainment value of this simple accident.

I know it's a chain, but so the heck what? Their salads, pizzas, soups and sandwiches are always tasty-tasty. All the waiters/hosts are really nice and extra smiley. This place is very consistent. They have a really big space perfect for groups before going to a play downtown or after going to the MOMA, which is just down the block. This is a nice family place. If nothing else, go to see their beautiful yellow tiled stove.

I go here for takeout, since it's close to where I work/live. What can I say, it's a CPK...love it or hate it . I'll do the former, but, then again, I grew up on Midwest strip malls, and am an admitted chain restaurant lover. There's something about that crust and the delicious combos that they come up with that just tantalize me. Goat cheese and peppers? Yes, please! The Shanghai Shrimp Rolls and a glass of vino on my balcony are just what I need after a long day at the office. And if I can't wait until the end of the day, who's gonna know? :o) Only problem -- one time I called in a lunch order, and they never put it in. I went to pick it up and they were like, so sorry, we don't know what happened, no pizza for you. And then they kicked me and I cried. Well, not really, but at least that's what it felt like....

I was craving for their Chopped Salad and when I got there it wasn't as good as I had remembered it. So on my next visit, I decided to order another salad for pick up. I ordered a half order of the Waldorf. It was great, except that the portion was skimpy. I think its best if you dine in. But I must say that all their salads are great!

This is definitely a good place to go with the kids for either lunch or dinner if you're doing touristy stuff in the Union Square vicinity. Spacious booths and dependably good food with plenty of healthy eating options (and not so healthy ones as well).

Some like to call me a pizza girl and I would have to agree with that, which is why I was so pleased to find a CPK so close to my work. I would compare it to cheesecake factory in the way it is just reliable, good food! I got the BBQ chicken pizza and the Chinese chicken salad and was very content. What a pleasant way to spend my lunch break- at one of the better of the chains out there.

That's right, jokers, I'm giving CPK 4 stars and here's why. Pizza in this city is something very few people seem to get right. We're no New York, that's for sure. All told, the pizza here ain't that bad, at the very least the toppings are unique. And it's close to Yelp HQ where the options for good pizza stand pretty much at zero. So I went to this location for the first time today (it opened a couple weeks ago) with some of my fellow yelployees for a quick lunch. We split the BBQ chicken salad, a chipotle chicken pizza and the Siscilian thin crust pizza. It's tasty, not too greasy and the restaurant is new and clean, what more could you ask for? AND we got asked by no less than 6 people how our meal was. That's customer service. I'm definitely coming back to hang out at the bar for a drink and a slice at happy hour.

It's a chain restaurant, so the food is pretty much the same as other locations. If you like CPK food in general (which I do) you'll like this one. My friend and I went here last night for my birthday and we thought the service was really good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, and though the bar took a little long with our first round of drinks, at least the waiter came out to let us know what was going on. I think the manager may have even passed by our table and asked us if we were happy. They were good without seeming like they were kissing our butts. They get points for some of the better service I've had.

I don't love it, i don't hate it. It does, however, provide a good thai crunch salad and chicken tortilla soup. Not sure what it means when I prefer to eat items other than pizza at CPK. I come for lunch, as salad joints are hard to come by. I wouldn't come here for dinner nor on any time during the weekend. Caution: if you are looking to keep your bill low (arent we all?) stick with water. soda's and other drinks are WAY overpriced

Why go here when North Beach is a bus ride away? I couldn't really savor the wild mushroom pizza after lunching in Little Italy. The pizzas we ordered-- aforementioned shroom pizza as well as a Hawaiian-- looked pretty and the cheese glistened with oil... but seriously, after having closer to authentic Italian food just hours beforehand, I really couldn't taste anything at CPK. Also, the service was very slow.

No, not really.. but every time I come back to this place I somehow think the pizza will get better, yet it stays mediocrely the same and over-priced. Kids love this place, but eat without expectations and you'll leave in a good mood.

I come here every so often as it is near where I work.... i walked from work for a to go order...got all the way back to work and discovered they forgot the dressing for my salad....I called not confident they would be able to fix the problem...I was expecting a discount for next order....but they brought it right over to me! Awesome service!

had dinner here last night,it's new year's eve and all the other places i called we're either full or closed. so we walked in and was relieved to find a place to eat at. the server was very nice, their lettuce wraps is good.pizza and pasta also good.but it's the good service that blew me away, it's a holiday i'm surprised that they we're still very nice comparing to my recent Cheesecake experience.. i've been here before the previous server was not as nice as last nights. will definitely come back here.

this new california pizza kitchen came to the rescue at 10:30PM when the bunch of us still hadn't eaten dinner. their spinach artichoke dip is excellent. nice and creamy, and it comes with white and blue tortilla chips (the blues ones being my favorite). i'd also recommend their fruit lemonade (i had the peach). wow, i usually don't get too excited about chain restaurants, but i liked what i ordered. well, at least until my avocado club egg rolls came. they were alright. not bad at all, actually, but four small half-rolls is kinda stingy when compared to the massive plate you get at the cheesecake factory. but it did make for a quick not-overly-filling dinner. service was friendly. i even saw them let in a semi-large party at 10:55, even though they close at 11.

Pizza had the skimpiest toppings I have ever seen. The sausage pizza literally had large gaps without any cheese at all, about 9 little tiny sausage pieces the size of an eraser head, and overall strangely resembled a frozen pizza. Hmmm... CPK salad was also skimpy with toppings. Really not tasty nor generous.

There was a 45 min wait at Cheesecake, so we went over here and were seated rightaway. The host was very nice. The food is consistent and good. Our waiter was lame though. I asked him to refill my water, and since he did not do it, I went to the bar and had the bartender do it. The manager saw this and apologized to me. I think he let the waiter have it because he was super attentive after that.

I freakin' love the salads here!!! The Chopped BBQ Chicken Salad and the Cobb Salad are really good (Unless you have been starving yourself for a week, ALWAYS order 1/2 salad. The full sizes are GIGANTIC!) The service is good (not great), but good. Its a great place to go if u miss those suburban chain restaurants.

i admit it, i used to work here. i was part of the opening staff for this place & quit about two months ago. i have no horror stories about why you shouldn't eat here, everything is by the book. personally, i think the pizza kinda blows but i ate it cause i got it for free. ha! go here for the salads, especially the bbq chicken, thai chicken, & the grilled veggie.

I LOVE this place. People keep bringing up the fact that it's a chain - so what! The food is good, ingredients are fresh, quality is consistant, and it's a fresh take on traditional salads and pizza. Whether you go to the one on 3rd or Van Ness or in Las Vegas or LA, they are consistant - no sad surprises. You don't have to stick to the menu either, they encourage you to experiment; I change up my pasta and pizza orders all the time with no attitude from the waiter. The warm artichoke dip is tasty, the BBQ chopped salad is my favorite. Try a different pizza if you don't like it, they will take it back. Great place to eat with friends and you're never rushed to vacat your booth either.

Went on a busy Friday for lunch but got seating immediately with no wait. We were asked for our drink orders that came fairly quickly. We were asked by the wait staff how the food was, if we needed anything etc. I will say service was great. Ambiance was good. It wasn't so noisy that you couldn't hear others (OSHA gets like that). Tables are well spaced out and I would definitely suggest this place for groups. Pizza was amazing! Loved the crust. It was done just right. We had the wild mushroom pizza and enjoyed every bite. The pasta was a little more 'al dente' that I like but maybe that's my personal taste. The spinach artichoke dip was very tasty! The tandoori chicken mango pizza was sweet but that was to be expected. They also serve bread and packed some for us too when we asked! :- ) Note the lemonade has free refills while other drinks do not. And the peach lemonade was yummy!

Normally I am satisfied when I go to this particular CPK - their food is always tasty, in particular their appetizers and the thai crunch salad. However, the last time I was there, the server (male) had no manners whatsoever. I tried to flag him down to get our drinks ordered, and he yelled, "Not now, I'm busy!" and later came up to our table and tried to be friendly to make up for being a jerk at the start. He could not give us his full attention even when taking our order, his eyes were looking all over the restaurant. The last experience really put a damper on my prior enthusiasm for this establishment.

a group of us went for lunch today, and we had a wonderful time. incredibly nice and attentive service, solid furniture (and yes, a stable and comfy chair makes all the difference when debating that last creamy garlic portobello ravioli), and lap-it-up-like-the-world-is-going-to-end food. i never like chains, but this one's done it right!

I wasn't excited about going to CPK, but it was late, the fam was hungry, and it was close to our hotel. I ordered the carmelized peach salad because my wife did, and I was too tired to think for myself. It was totally delicious! Thinking for myself, now I'd order one. The pizza--we had a pepperoni and a something else--was quality, thin-crust tastiness. Not the best, but still solid. Atmosphere, service, and all the other aspects of the experience were adequate, except for cost, which, unfortunately, is what one pays in SF.

A trusted place to dine. After our horrible experience with Buca San Francisco of not seating us on time for our reservation, we walked over to CPK and was greeted/welcomed with a readily accommodating seating = awesome! No reservations needed. Vegas (host) took us in and created space to accommodate our party. We were so hungry due to the wait at Buca that I only had two pictures of what we ordered: Roasted Artichoke Spinach Pizza on hand tossed crust and Chicken Waldorf Salad = both were YUM! Would've easily gave 5 stars but our server was so-so attentive. Maybe that's because we had a big party??? But considering CPK was our rebound restaurant, it did great for our needs.

My group arrived around the lunch hour on a Saturday and I immediately had flashbacks to an old episode of "South Park," specifically Chef singing, "...and you wait and you wait and you wait and you wait..." *beat* "...and you wait and you wait and you wait." The sign at the front requested that we wait to be seated. There were a few other people in the restaurant who were eating or in the process of ordering, so clearly we hadn't arrived outside of business hours. We waited. I watched employees pass near us a few times, all seeming careful to avoid eye contact. Finally, the person who was ahead of us - and whom I thought had already been helped - piped up, "Is there anybody seating people?" We were seated not long after, and the service from that point was punctual. The food was consistent with other CPKs that I've visited. Whether you're getting a pizza, sandwich, or just soup, it's all tasty. Had it not been for the long delay in being seated and the faint but lingering smell of urine rising from the floors, I would have rated this a solid three stars.

The food was okay. Nothing to say anything about that. The restaurant itself, sticky tables, dirty chairs. The restroom was dirty, toilet paper spread out over the floor, poop traces over the toilets, very disgusting! The service? While me and my friend just got our main course the waitress already gave us our check while we just started eating for 5 min. She barely checked up on us and when she saw we finished our dinner she came to us to grab the check, assuming I've put my credit card in it. But I didn't, as my friend and I wanted to have some dessert and a coffee after. So we ordered coffee & tea with the lime pie. Meanwhile our dirty plates and glasses were still on the table for 15 min. Someone else brought us our coffee and tea, she didn't brought any plates with it so she just put the tea spoons on our dirty plates which we had used for dinner! Still, after this lady brought us our coffee & tea, our dirty plates and glasses and silverware were still on the table which made our table look like a mess. When I wanted to make my tea I notice that there was barely any hot water in the little tea kettle and that it was very dirty inside. I asked for new tea kettle that is actually filled with hot water. When I got my new hot water I made my tea and when I finished pouring water in my tea cup I saw the exactly same amount of water that was left in the tea kettle as I got it with the first one: no doubt they just grabbed a previous guest's tea kettle and gave it to me! I will never go back to this place an wouldn't recommend it to my friends and fellow travelers.

When your in Cali - why not go to CPK? CPK was directly across the street from my hotel. I arrived early at 11:00 but due to me being used to Easter Time, I was super starved! I noticed CPK across the street and knew the menu well so decided to get takeout and bring it back to the hotel. The atmosphere at this particular one was really, really nice! I was directed over to the takeout area which is in the back left corner. I order my FAV (Chopped Chicken BBQ salad) and the Tortilla soup. Again they did not disappoint! When I arrive back at the hotel I noticed that they included bread and dipping sauce, an ample supply of napkins, and two sets of utensils. I really appreciated this because I typically break on of the plastic forks while trying to eat :-) Great spot!

Publicized on ham radio. I heard a friend check in on the Zen Net from here, and whaddayano it's just a couple of blocks from where I work! So off I went to reacquaint ourselves. Any bus up 3rd Street would get me there, so I showed up in a record 5 minutes. My friend was out on the patio, enjoying his first non-hospital meal in a while, jalapeÃ±os and all. I took a seat, thinking I'd go inside and order later. Out came a server, whoa! They have table service! I ordered a diet Coke and fish tacos, which came 2 per order, nicely grilled, on soft taco shells, with cabbage and a tart sauce. The order cost about $18.50 + tip. Now that my friend is on the street with his radio, contacting all his friends, we can rally anytime, anywhere. CPK was a great place to start.

Service was poor in almost every way. Although the restaurant was only sparsely populated, the food (two appetizers, one of which was guacamole and chips) took 30-35 minutes to come out. We then had to wait for or silverwear to come out so that we could eat. Our final dish was a Cobb salad, which we received ten minutes after we were finished eating the rest of or food (in all took almost an hour to come out). I asked for a refill on the water glass early on, and received it as we were signing our checks. The tortilla wraps were mostly tortilla, and very little substance. The salad was average.

The Bay Area needs more cpks in general. This one is in a good location but beware there's no parking! At least it's close to the Bart and muni stations. This particular location is just about as good quality wise as all the other ones I've been to. The workers are all really friendly too. Last time I was there though, I noticed my small plates were DIRTY! like they weren't washed thoroughly enough. They had some dried up specks of food on them. No big deal, I just brought it up to the waitress and she took care of it. But still kind of inconvenient all the same. I ordered the Thai crunch salad. It was huge and delicious. Unfortunately it took forever to come out, I would estimate it took about 30 minutes? It's only a salad...no idea why it took that long. As a side note though, if you ever need a recommendation at California pizza kitchen, holla at me!!! I've been so many times to multiple locations. About near tried every item on the menu including pastas, pizzas, soups, salads, appetizers. Really, cpk should hire me.

This place was right across the street from our hotel so we walked across the street on our last night. It was Super Bowl Sunday night so it wasn't crowded at all. We got the Tequila Lime Fettuccine and a new Flatbread. Both were good and we were really full and happy. The service was good but honestly I just loved that it was so convenient and it didn't require a cab ride.

I'm super surprised that I really liked CPK. I was dragged by some friends cause one of them eat works in the one in Los Angeles. We had the flatbreads and I had the Caesar salad which was delicious and with the grilled chicken was perfect lunch. I would go back if I'm asked to go somewhere that's kind of a chain restaurant for people who are pallet adventurous.

I have been here 4 times - each time I say, "I will NEVER go again" - because I hate everything about it. Why do I go? Why do I hate it? This place is all about appearances - they invest all they can into making the food appear and sound like something special without actually having the food be special. They play loud obnoxious music that always makes me want to leave. Why do I go? That's where people like to have "work lunches" for going away or retirement. How much more pathetic can you get? "You are going away, so we want to take you out to eat... and we are going to choose the restaurant because it's close to work... otherwise no one would go to your crummy event". Well, I'm retired now and don't have degrade myself with these awful lunches. I ordered "chinese chicken salad" last Friday - wilted lettuce with hoisin sauce on it. It was a tired example of a bored kitchen staff. Assuming anyone really wanted to make a Chinese Chicken Salad - hint: google it. San Francisco has so many great places to eat within close proximity. Why waste your time and money on such a bad experience?

My son Dean and I came to this particular CPK because it was familiar and definitely convenient. It was a special day as my son was dropped off to my office and we decided to make a day of it. Our server Raquel was phenomenal she was nice and energetic and made my son feel comfortable. She was thorough with her service and very quick with a smile and a laugh. I loved it!!! Now to the most unexpected part, I had a very nice young gentleman name Marcus (sorry if I spelled your name wrong ) sit next next to us who was dining alone. We made quick eye contact and I gave a kind smile. I'm never one to intrude even with a glance to the TV to check on the Giants game in his direction but you can tell he was enjoying his time there and the banter with Raquel. Anyways Marcus provided a nice early Father's Day present by paying for our meal!!! What a BEAUTIFUL THING! Much LOVE and good vibe you my man! My little boy Dean says thank you and as I'm typing this in the restaurant I'll make sure to pay it forward to the great server we shared together, Raquel!!

My boyfriend and I ordered spinach dip; it came out with stale chips so I kindly asked for some new ones, he (I don't even know his name because his name tag is so dirty, probably mat or something) yells across the restaurant to the kitchen "IDK WHAT THEY WANT ME TO DO!" Then looks back at our table only to see me staring right at him, then tries to act like he didn't just do that. Anyways, his apron is literally tied at his knees! Why?! I couldn't even wait for the main dish to arrive. I had to write this.

Not very good. We had CPK brought in today for lunch and it was kind of a turn off. I've eaten at a couple of CPK's before and have always loved their salads. Sure, it's not gourmet fare and it's a huge chain, but it's creative and fresh. Today our chopped salad was comprised of the root ends of romaine lettuce, some very sad tomatoes, and canned black beans and canned corn. I think they kept the leaves to use in the Caesar salad, which was oddly accompanied by a herb-ranch dressing. The sandwiches were all on focaccia bread and were really tiny. Maybe an inch across? Too much bread and not enough filling. The desserts were just OK too. I don't think we'll use CPK again.

I haven't been to a CPK in over 10 years & I don't remember them being sit down restaurants like this one was. I loved the open layout. There were tons of tables, but no one felt squished. My husband got the Hawaiian BBQ pizza and I ordered the pear pizza on gluten free crust (which cost $3 more). They were okay. I definitely expected more from a $13 & $16 pizza. The only saving grace for mine was that it was served with a salad on top. Which meant lots of food & leftovers for the next day. Service was good, not great.

For a lunch spot in downtown SF, it is not too crowded which was nice for a change. Our Server, Roquell, was fantastic; friendly, quick, and accurate. We ordered the Hawaiian BBQ pizza and it was delicious! We also had a small plate of white corn guacamole with chips that was really good and free for signing up with CPK dough rewards =) Will be going back again soon with co-workers for a team lunch.

Reduced by 3 stars since CPK customer service apologized profusely for the service in Emeryville, but then managed to get my review blanked out here and were not courteous enough to make it up with us in more than sweet words. After a terrible time at CPK in Emeryville (read my review there), we drove up here to continue our meal in peace. They did it again, CPK style: excellent food and service, to make up for their terrible Emeryville sister location it seemed to us. The Asparagus/Spinach pasta was great, also the Tostada Pizza with Avocado, and the crowning delight: the butter cake with Haagen Dazs icecream. We recuperated!

I don't remember CPK being so terrible when I was in high school or college. Have I just become a total food snob since moving up to SF, or has it actually dropped in quality? In any case, don't ever order the fish tacos. I was tired of pizza so I ordered that alternative, but that was a mistake. The appetizers were disgusting as well, except for the dumplings which were surprisingly good. I wouldn't be writing this except the service was SO slow for our large party. I left thirsty because I never got my water refilled, even though they said they would come by to refill it. /end ranting.

Nice clean place and location, needs improvement. Update: I went back and tried the Asparagus & spinach spaghetti and the service was top notch! Service was great and very friendly. The food was good. Not great, but good. I got the Fettuccini and the sauce was just ok. The reason I'm giving a 3 out of 5 is the food was ok and one of the bathroom stalls is jimmy rigged to lock it and the toilet seat looks disgusting. What ever is on it looks like it's permanently stuck to it. Almost like duct take residue that won't come off. Hopefully they are fixing it. I would come back and try anther dish.

Came her with 5 of my co-workers for their Valentines Week special and ordered three specials to share. Without going into too much detail, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered here. Waiters are nice, but even though it did not look that busy while we were there, the service was spotty. However, this place looks more like a sit down restaurant and less like something at a strip mall, so added points for that. (+) Mushroom, sausage, and pepperoni pizza. thin crust. I must not have been to CPK for awhile - this came out a lot better than I imagined. recommended. (+) Spinach Artichoke Dip. dip and chips are served nice warm. (+) Tuscan Hummus. the pita bread that comes with this is amazingly fluffy and compliments the hummus well. (+) Butter cake. served with ice cream on the side. very heavy, but very good! (+/-) Lettuce wraps with chicken. tasted good, but finished my wrap completely unaware of what kind of meat was in it. (-/+) Red Velvet cake. Huge serving, but the cake itself was nothing special. Overall very heavy, but a plus is that it is served with a vanilla cream and ice cream. (-) Salted Caramel Pudding. Not at all a bad dessert, but given the selection, this was the most lackluster. This dish tastes exactly like the title. I was actually pleasantly surprised, but found it to be a bit on the heavier side if anymore than one spoonful was consumed.

I remember when this place was good. I came here last week for a chicken sandwich & salad for lunch and I was so disappointed. The rosemary focaccia used to be made fresh & in house now it's purchased from a sad bakery and resembles a square shaped stone rock. The sandwich had hardly any chicken and was stuffed with tons of mayonnaise & shredded iceberg lettuce. I will not be returning ever again and the experience was just sad. This is when I wish I could give a no star review.

Last night in SF and both my parents and brother were exhausted after a days walk in the SF Botanical Garden and Fishermen's Wharf, we decided to just order takeout from this CPK which was conveniently located right across our hotel (the Westin on Market St). I love how they have online ordering too - made it so easy and mistake free - as long as there's no computer glitches...heh. So for dinner we ordered: a thin crust meat craver's pizza, a veggie lover regular crust pizza, a thai chicken pizza, half of Caesar salad and half of a Cobb salad. I thought that the Caesar and Cobb salad would be a lot since it was pretty expensive - about 11 dollars for the Cobb and 8 dollars for the Caesar - however it was pretty small when I got it. Thin crust meat cravers pizza was good but the crust was a little soggy and not crispy like I wish it would be. Thai chicken pizza wasn't how I remembered it - it wasn't as good unfortunately - a lot of carrots and sprouts but not a lot of chicken and the sauce was super salty. Veggie lovers pizza - best pizza out of the group - nice and abundant variety of veggies! always good. :) Both salads were just overpriced for the portions. The take out service was alright - I didn't know that they have to charge 10 cents for the bag that we needed to carry out the three pizzas and two salads....but at least it wasn't a plastic bag - it was a reusable bag and kind of a cool carrier too. I was kind of disappointed the girl forgot to give us the bread for the take out - but the pizzas was more than we can eat anyways. Overall this location was just okay.

I really enjoy CPK. It's a good default pizza place that offers decent pasta and salads. I went here for dinner, catching up with a few friends I hadn't seen in months. I've been going to CPK for years, and they are consistently reliable, consistently good. However, it's like any large food chain--too big, too commercial for my taste. Wild Mushroom pizza: great pizza. The mushrooms were very tasty. It tasted amazing once I put parmesan on it. Fettuccine Alfredo pasta: decent pasta; not sure if it's any better than what I can buy in a jar at the grocery store. California Club pizza: pretty good. It was basically a cesar salad on top of a bacon/caramelized onion pizza. Nueske's applewood smoked bacon, chicken and Mozzarella, hearth-baked then topped with avocado, chilled arugula, basil and romaine tossed in lemon pepper mayonnaise. It would seem like an odd combination, but who can beat a 2 for 1. Belgian Chocolate SoufflÃ© Cake a la mode: Mmm... Gluttony. The souffle itself was not too special, but the vanilla sauce, chocolate fudge, and ice cream completely made the dessert. I definitely couldn't eat it myself.

Pro tip: CPK only accepts reservations for parties of 8+, If you have less than 8, call in ~30-60 min prior to your arrival to place your name on the waitlist and save some wait time! Came here on NYE and service was SO S.L.O.W.W.W.W.W.W.. Our waiter clearly hates/hated his job, barely looking at us while he took our order and acting ridiculously annoyed at our questions. It took a good thirty minutes for our food to come, and another ten for our drinks. Speaking of, the sangrias are absolutely delicious!! We all split a Spicy Fennel Sausage Flatbread for appetizer. For $6, it's a pretty good deal. The flatbread was super crispy. I ordered a half-order of Moroccan Chicken Salad ($11). I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken, but I did like the butternut squash, cranberries, and beets. SO pricey though. My friends ordered the California Cobb Pizza, BBQ Chicken Salad, and Shrimp Scampi Fettucini (part of the Lite menu). They said the fettucini was disappointing, with only ~3 pieces of shrimp. CPK is good for large parties, but the food overall is just okay. For the prices, you can get more authentic pizzas elsewhere.

I've been going to CPK for many, many years and they rarely disappoint. I really like their new small plates, particularly the wedge salad and the arugula & asparagus salad. Today we had both, along with a thin crusted pizza-the meat lovers. It was delicious. Their pasta dishes are great and I love the Kung Pao pasta dish. And of course the original BBQ Chicken Pizza and salad are great too.

I was invited to media lunch here last week. So for the record, I didn't have to pay for my meal. But also for the record, this review is 100% honest (and unpaid for). Confession: I had never been to a CPK before. I think I had one of their frozen pizzas once from the store - but that doesn't count. Question: where has this pizza place been all my life?! I was thoroughly impressed with all our food. We sampled their new flat bread menu. My favorite was the one with fennel sausage. I was really blown away by the quality and size of their salads. Our table shared the Caramelized Peach salad and the Roasted Veggie salad. All the ingredients were fresh. The dressing was tasty without being overbearing. Most surprising of all was the dessert! We shared the Salted Caramel Pudding (yum!) and the melt-in-your-mouth Butter Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (food coma, be damned!). It's funny - I always had preconceived notions of CPK. For some reason, I had categorized it with other national chains like Olive Garden and Outback Steak House. But I couldn't have been more wrong. This place is seriously legit. Everything from the food to the service is top-notch. I would come back here in a heartbeat. It's especially perfect for birthday parties and large groups. CPK - you've made a believer out of me. Keep up the great work!

I came with my friend for lunch on a weekday. The wild mushroom pizza tastes good. I like the different kinds of mushroom toppings and the sauce a lot, but the crust was a little bit drier than usual. We also had the small chicken quesadilla, which tasted great! The server was friendly and polite but forgot one of the things that we asked for... We still had a good time there :)

Very clean and inviting! Everything is perfect here! My friend and I had the Italian and Chinese Salads which are highly recommended! 5 stars to the super friendly bartender who smiled and joked with everyone. Honestly, he made our experience awesome. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name but he worked around 7 P.M. last Saturday (10/5). He never stopped smiling and made sure me and my friend enjoyed out drinks and dessert. Our drinks were really girly and delicious (there was barely any alcohol flavor and I usually taste the alcohol). So, maybe it's not the best deal, but he mentioned he recently just started making mixed drinks. We also got the Belgian Chocolate Souffle Cake, which was delicious!

I don't usually write reviews for places that are considered chain stores/restaurants, but I have been compelled to write this one due to the great service I had experienced several days ago. My aunt had recently acquired a gift card to this place. Unfortunately, the restaurant is situated in one the busiest places in the city. My uncle dropped us off to look for parking...NOT. We rushed in to quickly order take-out so we could scat as soon as possible to avoid driving/parking fines. We ordered a Thai pizza, shrimp scampi, two soups (tortilla and pea), and a chicken pasta (forgot the name). Everything was prepared within 15 minutes. The manager realized that we were in a hurry and he rushed the workers. They weren't slow, we just needed to go. Thanks! As for the food. It was good. The Thai pizza was bizarre because I have never had it before. The chicken pasta was large--we had three chicken breasts in that dish. My favorite was the shrimp scampi--because nothing could go wrong with garlic and butter. The food was bit on the salty side, but decent. Again, they deserve props for the service, especially after an unhappy encounter with traffic patrol (traffic ticket) trying to find this place.

It was D's gma's birthday, and when you're turning 93, you certainly get dibs on dinner selection, which is how we ended up at CPK. What can we say? Gma loves her pizza. There was nothing extravagant about the food nor decor - standard CPK fare and run of the mill dining area - so why the high marks? The service. There were 15 of us in attendance and the one main gal serving us was hauling @ss. She was super quick and efficient to a point at some instances where she was almost too eager ("No, I'm actually not quite done with my plate yet; thanks"), but nonetheless I applaud her speedy and friendly demeanor, especially with a party of our size. The real icing on the cake, however, came when the staff brought gma out a complimentary birthday sundae. Because when I say "staff," I mean STAFF. The ENTIRE staff from hostess to manager to bus boy to kitchen crew came out to sing and personally wish gma a blessed happy 93rd birthday. Maybe this is standard CPK celebratory protocol, but somehow I think not. This was a complete surprise, and I was blown away by the genuine respect they displayed toward gma and the rest of the family. Bravo, CPK, for going above and beyond to show gma a good time on her birthday. Just simply, thank you.

While staying at the Westin, I got some late night take out. I got Hawaiian pizza. It came out to be $14. It tasted fabulous (nice thin crust). Also, the take out people were really nice. They offered me bread and olive oil. Why 3 stars? The pizza was expensive and the olive oil container had a crack, causing some oil spillage. I immediately threw it away. What a waste of food. I think CPK is still more of a dine-in thing. You're paying that much for the ambiance.

I would think that since Pizza is in their name, that their pizza would be out of this world. I had the spicy chipotle chicken and the toppings worked very well together and it tasted pretty good. I really wish there was something more special about it that really makes it taste like something I havent had before. It is a pretty average pizza that is a bit overpriced in my opinion. **TIPS** 1) Portions are big so you can split a whole pizza with a group. 2) Enjoy!

If you regularly lunch in SoMa with folks in the under-three-years-of-age set, CPK is a godsend. They not only have highchairs, they'll give your kiddie dining companion crayons and a fold-out coloring sheet to help keep him amused. Their kids menu includes curly mac and cheese and fresh fruit (sliced pineapple and red seedless grapes). I didn't sample the fruit but the mac and cheese passed muster and Jack gobbled up both happily! And five years later, my suggestion to try the Tuscan hummus remains as urgent as ever. Toward the end of our lunch Jack's mom sampled some and pronounced it "goooood!" Trust me, it is!

Today, two of my favorite humans insisted we go to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch, despite the PLETHORA of locally owned businesses we are *surrounded* by at our office, not to mention a particular app we're all familiar with that connects tech-savvy(ish) people to local businesses. I'll be the first to shout from the rooftops that I was not pleased, not one bit. I caps-locked my pings in resistance to no avail...it was clear that for once, I was not going to win. We moseyed over (ok moderate kicking and screaming from me) to GD CPK. The hostess was rather jovial, which was unfortunate for my vehement stance against this mission as I have a weakness for happy people. I did not order pizza because I'm "SUPER BORING" but really guys I just wanted to be there to enjoy lunch with my pals on a Friday, you know? I had SOUP AND I'M NOT ASHAMED. SUE ME. The point of this review is a simple revelation. In this neighborhood, there aren't a ton of places you can sit down and have a leisurely lunch in peace with your friends on a Friday. And you know, that is exactly what I didn't realize I was looking for. To laugh and indulge in a little goddamn Americana with some beloved coworkers who ended up completely ganging up on me the entire time. Sometimes that's all you really need to be happy.

I have two friends who are die hard CPK fans. Every time they get together, they hit up a different CPK. Well, of course they suggested this SF location, since it was half way for us located in the Peninsula and my other friends out in the East Bay. Story goes, our service was the worst! Had some kind of diva waiter that made it super impossible for us to actually enjoy our meal. Asking him a question was as if we were bothering him. So not the CPK way. Our meals were okay, but just didn't feel that happy when they arrived to us.

Why has this gone downhill?! This used to be one of my favorite restaruants but so much had changed. Cons: 1. They discontinued making many of my favorite dishes 2. The utensils were dirty (disgusting!) 3. My four cheese ravioli had some noodles inside 4. They don't ask if you want free bread anymore! Pros: 1. The staff here are still very nice and friendly. Bad experience tonight. The food is only 3 stars at best but convenient to my apartment. Didn't feel like cooking tonight so I ordered on-line. I have done this several times before with no problems but tonight they were late. Now I was not thrilled about this and the guy at the counter knew it but blamed it on me! I ordered at 5:08 PM for a 6:15 PM pick up. He said I didn't order until 5:55 PM. I called him out, showed him the text confirmation and waited for my pizza. I know they order thee gluten-free crust from an outside supplier, so its not the chef's fault. The wait staff and chef himself handled our comments tremendously well, and I would recommend this restaurant for its friendly staff and excellent service.

I'm a member of the CPK Adventure eClub (the name makes me chuckle) so I get a lot of coupons that I typically ignore. This month though, I received a deal for a free "small plate" so thought I'd give them another try. I used their online ordering option which let me bi-pass the crowds. All I had to do when I arrived was grab my grub. The quesadilla was delicious. Delicious, delicious calories. There are few things on the menu that won't tilt the scale, most things top out over 1,000 calories. In any case, I'm a sucker for alfredo so the Pesto Cream Penne seemed like the right choice. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of sauce and it was more oily than creamy. I should have gotten my pasta fix elsewhere.

I had the thin crust Margherita Pizza which was not bad. It could have had some more sauce but I guess the thin crust did not allow it. Wait staff was nice and attentive. I'll just start off by saying that I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants,. I will however admit that CPK's BBQ Chicken Pizza is delicious. My sister and I dined her on a Tuesday night after she got off work and at about 5:30pm, there was a 10-15 minute wait for 2. We had just beaten the crowd that looked like it included a lot of people from the Dreamforce expo that week. Here's the run down: Service: Our waiter was very nice and attentive (and cute -- BONUS!). He took our orders with a nice smile, delivered our food in a timely manner, and boxed up our leftovers! Food: I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad with avacado and the fat-free dressing and BBQ sauce on the side. The full portion was big enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The price was average for downtown SF and it tasted pretty good, but not great. Would I dine here again? Well, my sister was the one who wanted to come here in the first place, so likely not, unless she requested this place again. However, don't cross this off your list if you want solid service with decent, familiar food!

So I have to say that I used to be the BIGGEST proponent for CPK. 4 solid stars for sure. In fact I used to get into heated arguments with my friends over the legitimacy of CPK. My old arguments were: + Great ambiance and service to go with family, date (not first like 5 dates though, 10 if you live in a populated city), friends, or alone + Food is decent, clean, some are delicious + There was a tv during the NFL playoffs + Never gets crowded, no wait I might have an affinity for CPK because my mom and I used to go in La Jolla all the time (very close to UTC, and not many other choices in that area for nice sit down meal that's decently priced). She would order the half BBQ salad, split pea soup, and I would always get the sundried brocolli tomato fusilli (a light pasta that I loved. Not all understood why, but hey, I like consistency and stability). If the bro came he'd get a pizza. This was a tradish for us and thus I became very fond of the restaurant. After coming here though one tired Saturday night, I was shocked to find the menu had CHANGED. No more sundried brocolli tomato fusilli. I'm not sure what I did after that. Maybe got the BBQ chicken pizza, but was bitter most of the time. So yes, I understand why people think it's an overpriced place for meh food, but hey, I grew up in the suburbs and over there I'd say it's still 50% of a treat.

I was shocked to hear that California Pizza Kitchen refuses to address the issue of dehorning by their cheese suppliers. The company has been educated about the cruelty of burning calves with hot irons and caustic chemicals as well as the proven solution of breeding for naturally hornless, or "polled," cows. Instead, young calves fight back in pain and fear as their horn tissue is painfully destroyed. I won't eat at California Pizza Kitchen. I won't remove this review until the company starts acknowledging the problem and take necessary actions.

Was staying across the street at the Westin and decided to go over here for some late night munchies. When I walked in I sat at the bar, sometimes it just easiest. They had the Sharks game on which was a score. I got a couple of beers which were over priced but good. I then just got the cheese pizza with extra tomato added. Also very good. At the end of my meal I wanted a dessert being the salted caramel ice cream but didn't want to sit there and eat it so asked if I could get one to go and they were happy to try and make it work for me. Also I think getting it to go I got a bigger portion. Score. The dessert was possibly the best part. This is defiantly easy and good standard place to go to if you are in the area staying at a hotel and need to grab a bite. My waiter was very nice.

Decided to write a review after having dined at this location twice now. Service both times was horrible, barely greeted, staff involved in own personal conversations with other staff, slow service, waitstaff didn't seem like they wanted to be there-let alone serve. For this reason alone I won't be returning, too many other places that do appreciate patronage. You remember when Heinz had that ridiculously-needless green ketchup..... well this place gave me and my friends green shit....... The oddest things happened heer at this CPK. 1. Service was kinda slow but it was packed so I guess it was expected (although it was fairly quiet for the amount of people dining *silent dining*) 2. My food was hell dry...I got the salmon pasta dish (it came with asparagus and spinach). No lube no sauce just noodles and a overcooked salmon. I had the best costumer service ever today at the California Pizza Kitchen. I have been there a million times before but the service today was something else. I usually go there for dinner after I get off work. It's been months since the last time I was there. The first thing that I noticed was that they have changed the menu. The new menu is perfect. It is well organized, has a lot of new additions and more vegetarian options. I ordered chicken fettuccine pasta with the spring salad and avocado egg roles. The food also was well done and very well served. I mean I have always loved the food quality here but today I saw lots of progress, change or improvements! My waitress was a sweet young lady (I see her name as Lily on my receipt) and I think she did the best service I have ever seen at California Pizza Kitchen! Here is the reasons: First of all she greeted me with a sweet smile and politely asked me if I like the table that she just guided me to. Then after I made my order, she asked if I want my salad first. She brought my drink first and the salad a bit later. And I got the food at the end. The timing was perfect and she was checking on me making sure that everything is ok or I need something else. I just liked the way she did all of this process gracefully and politely. She is very respected and she knows her job really well. It's been so long since I got that quality of service in downtown San Francisco . First time at this location last night. Service was horrible, took over 20 minutes to get some water to our table. Even though we waited for half of our 7 person party to arrive for a few minutes, the staff here didnt even have the nerve to ask if we wanted appetizers ot drinks, we literally had to hunt them down. Onec they sat us they disappeared. Finally the rest of our party arrived and they took our order. The two salads came out last, hard to believe, but a sald should be the firat tbing out. Anyway 3 stars for the food because its was pretty good and everyone enjoyed their meal. 0 stars for the horrible service and staff.

My team at work comes here often for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Imo, its not the best place for one whose on a low carb diet or trying to lose weight, but I did find one meal that was just awesome, it was the Grilled Chicken Chimichurri. This was sooooooooooooo good. I would definitely come back for it. FYI.. this place turns into a mad house at lunch, so make sure to make a reservation.

If the parking situation was half way decent I would slap a 5 star winner winner chicken dinner on this jewel. With Market street around the corner and great shopping that my wife and sons love we stopped here and grabbed lunch first. I got the Italian chopped salad and my wife and sons gobbled down a few pizza's and we were in heaven!! Also we topped it off with the best carmel pudding ever :)

Been to plenty of the CPK's around Norcal and Socal... This was my first time at the 3rd st location in SF. Had the grilled veggie salad: had lots of eggplant, asparagus, corn, zucchini, sundried tomatoes, topped with avocado, all on a bed of tangy balsamic/olive oil dressed romaine lettuce. I usually go for dishes with meat in it (even in my salads), but this was surprisingly good and satisfying without the meat... It was actually light, and tasty. Perfect for the busy day ahead. Service was friendly, and fairly quick. Good place to go if you want to grab a fast bite.

Came to the car show and decided to stop here to grab something to eat. After waiting to be seated and told "she would be right with us" Robert came and seated us in his area. He was very polite, professional and our drinks were refilled without us having to look around for our waiter. All restaurants should train their employee's to be as polite and attentive as he was. He just came back to thank us for his tip. Nice guy!

I thought CPK was only available at the west coast but later found out they have it on the east cost as well, oops? I wanted to stick to only west coast exclusive restaurants but I'll let this one slide. Anywhoo, I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza since it was established here. Thin crust and full of buffalo sauce. It was really cheesy and savory. The pie was small though so it's a bit pricey for pizza. I also ordered korean tacos. They were relatively small but full of flavor. They offer coupons for customers to return. They're surprise coupons. You don't know how much the discount is until you come back and you're not allowed to open it yourself, it has to be the restaurant manager or waiter.. Pretty much this place is like an applebees except they specialize in pizza. Just your average american cuisine.

After babysitting for our friends so they could take a break & enjoy a movie, we all went out for a quick bite. Even though it was dinner time, the restaurant was pretty empty. Maybe because of that, there were plenty of flies hovering inside the entrance & the hostess/waitress were really lethargic & nonchalant like they didn't care. We started off with Lettuce cups with shrimp & a Spinach & artichoke dip. The lettuce cups were nice & crispy but super wet like they were just washed & dumped on the plate. The actual shrimps were also a little too sweet. The dip was really run-of-the-mill. For main, we shared a Pesto chicken pizza which was pretty small & pretty meh. One tip, the restaurant follows the "check for ID of anyone under 40" rule really strictly so don't forget your identification if you're in the mood for an alcoholic beverage.

Came here with a big group of 12 and the waiter we got was a complete ass. Totally ruined my experience. I asked if I could have a plate and a fork and he literally said "no." and never came back with them. He never came by to check if we needed anything and I was still hungry!! I wanted to order some more things but he was no where to be seen and by chance that I tried to ask another server, our server shouted at us hastily said "I'm your server!" I get you are having a bad day but don't take it out on us. Enjoy your 18% gratuity-- I would have left you zero!! He didn't even ask us anything when it was last call. I was still hungry!! Food is good, I liked the tacos and BBQ Salad but seriously it has got to be the worst service/no service I experienced.

I am a big fan and have been to this location many times. It's a great place to eat dinner with a group before seeing a movie at the Meteron or mall. Most pizza is around $11 so the price range is nice. There is always lots of seating and never a wait. This location has a large dining room and a calm atmosphere. The pizzas are GREAT and much different from "traditional" pizza. It has it's own unique taste. Yes, it is a chain and foodies will always complain about chains. Sure, SF has lots of amazing places to eat, but sometimes, a traditional chain is fun. And, their food is quality so does it really matter?

I like to come to CPK for their Garlic Cream Fettuccine, but the service here stinks so bad that I am never going to come here again. We got there around 8PM, it took them 10 minutes to get us seated, although there were plenty of empty tables. Once seated, it took another 10 minutes for our server to take our drink orders. Once taken, it took 15 minutes for the server to bring our drinks out. Catch my drift? The service here is simply horrible. I've had better service at my neighborhood dim sum place, and that's saying a lot.

I'm totally down with CPK. BBQ Chicken Salad (no cilantro), Broccoli Sundried Tomato Fusilli and Garlic Shrimp Pizza on wheat make me happy. It serves a need for fast, consistent food. What's not to like? Sucky service! Got some stuff to go, tipped the guy who was bagging my food and he was rude, dismissive and unsmiling. The only good part about the service was that it was ready in time for me to jump on my bus.

I've been waiting for CPK to open, mostly because it's a block and a half from where I work, and we're always running out of options. Ok, so it's a chain, I get that. That doesn't mean that the food ain't half bad, and in some cases is actually quite tasty. I'm a fan of their bbq chicken pizza of course, but even their take on something standard like pepperoni and mushroom is pretty solid. Salads are preposterously large, but in that way, good for sharing and a good way to start a meal. I'd definitely leave room for dessert as both their tiramisu and their cheesecake were both my kind of happy ending. While there is no bar, you can still take advantage of their patio area that overlooks scenic Third Street, and watch all the tourists and work zombies fritter to and fro. Taken in with a Long Island Iced Tea from their "specialty cocktail" menu, the experience is endearingly and oddly non-suburban.

I came here 2 times this past month cuz my friends like suprisingly for ME there service is excellent Got artichoke dip and was sour, told one of the host, then the manager came out and apologized , the chef came out apologized got us a new one, came out again to make sure it was right this time and they took it off the bill. +++ Artichoke dip it was gude Ordered the thai pizza it was gude Spaghetti bolognese not gude too salty Diet coke was gude refills came quick. We were looking for a light dinner after a big meal on the Fisherman's Wharf and a snack at Lori's Diner, and this fit the bill. We ordered a chicken pesto pizza (love that thin crust!) and it was tasty enough. I get the feeling that we annoyed the waiter b/c we only ordered one personal pizza and two waters, but seriously we were just not that hungry! To his credit, he was polite, just inattentive. The place was pretty and clean, and very warm on a chilly, windy night. If we lived in town we would probably make this a don't-want-to-cook-on-a-Wednesday-night-so-lets-Âgo-out-somewhere place. P.S.- I have to admit, I enjoyed how apt it was to eat at a CPK in CA. Even if it is a chain.

Life saver.. that pretty much sums up what I think about this place. Easter weekend, my gf and I decided to take a trip up north to the Bay area just to get away from the Los Angeles/Orange County life. ON Easter Sunday, we got so wrapped up in sightseeing that we forgot that restaurants would most likely close earlier on that day. The original spot where we wanted to eat dinner at of course closed WAY earlier than anticipated so we were stuck with trying to find a place to eat at 8:30 at night. Seeing how we were from out of town, we didn't know what San Francisco had to offer for dining spots, especially on Easter Sunday.. so the hunt began and every place we called was in the process of closing or was already closed. For sure we didn't want fast food or some mediocre food so it started to become mission impossible for us... that is until we came across CPK. It was already 9PM.. I called and they said they were to close at 10PM.. luckily we just happened to be right around the corner, so CPK it is. First off, as far as CPK goes, this CPK is just like any other CPK. The menu is the same, the quality of food is the same.. it's just an all around ordinary American restaurant.. nothing to WOW about. The reason I gave one extra star over an ordinary "A-OK" rating.. was because of the service.. especially close to closing hours. Rachael was our original server. Very polite, very helpful.. and surprisingly in an upbeat mood for being close to closing hours and at the end of her shift.. I don't think that girl knows how not to smile. haha. My gf and I were REALLY hungry at that point and since we were on vacation, we decided to "splurge" a little bit. We ordered two appetizers (the Singapore Shrimp Rolls and the Lettuce Wraps) and we each had the Jambalaya pasta.... yea we were pigs that night. The food was good but nothing extraordinarily special.. just glad to have found decent food. Rachael on the other hand was very helpful and patient.. although it did take a while for her to get to our table to take our order.. but understandably so, I don't take kind to waiters who keep pestering you to hurry up and place an order so I wasn't too bothered by it. I did find it a bit odd as to why her tables were spread across the restaurant which was why I thought it was taking her a bit long to get to our table. Once our appetizers got to our table, she was quite attentive to our needs and made sure everything was up to par as far as our dining experience was going. About half an hour into our dinner, she informed us that she was coming off her shift and headed home and that Kat was going to be taking her place (which I find very responsible because now days most people just leave and the next waiter just takes over). Even as she was leaving, she was still working.. giving us a smile and waiving goodbye. Kat was very polite and helpful as well.. but her attentiveness to her patrons wasn't as on par as Rachael's. Kat disappeared from time to time but again.. it was already past 10PM at that point, so I can understand that she had closing/cleaning responsibilities as well. Overall.. it was a pleasant dining experience especially since we were coming at closing time on Easter Sunday. For out-of-towners.. I was very satisfied and felt welcomed for my business. I'd dine here again because of the experience but then again.. it's JUST California Pizza Kitchen. Never know tho.. maybe I'd find myself in SF again craving CPK?? haha

This is a pretty good choice in SOMA if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to meet people for lunch. It is my "go to" when the weather doesn't allow for me to sit outside at B's - which is abput 4 months of the year. The booths are very padded and comfortable - so try to get one of those. The menu is fairly broad, so there should be something for everyone. The ambiance is pleasant and roomy - not an easy find in SOMA. And, if you get there before 12:00, there is almost never a line, unless there is a huge convention at Moscone. I usually order the thin crust pizza, and it rarely disappoints. However, the last time I was there with colleagues, my pizza was dry as a cracker and somewhat cold. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to delay my colleagues. But overall, it is a good place to meet folks for lunch in SOMA without having to compete with the din of the restaurant or get elbowed or kneed from tight confines.

I can happily give this place 3 stars because the staff is great here, and the location is very close the metreon. I went here with a small group. We had a little bit of everything. My boyfriend and i tried the BBQ chicken pizza and the white corn guacamole with chips. I thought the appetizer was really good. The pizza left a little to be desired. But the food came out extremely fast, since the restaurant was relatively quiet. I had a good time, but the prices are too high for me to come here on a regular basis.

KPC may be cool and yummy in the burbs of Chicagoland, but here in the Bay Area, c'mon people .. . so many better places to eat. I was forced to eat there recently after some friends wanted to go. I haven't been to CPK for years, back in Chicago. Really, really, unless you're standing outside of CKP and ravenous, go somewhere else. Anywhere else and eat a more authentic meal for less $$.

Been here a few times when we have visited the city. Never seems to be a wait for a table during the day and the staff is always friendly and attentive. As far as CPKs go, its the same as the rest of them. Food served hot and in a reasonable amout of time. Mixed drinks are always good. I can't really give it more because it matches pretty much exactly the rest of the CPKs I've visited.

Much better than the crappy pizza they served last time. A friend & I went there last night. I was dreading it because of my past experience. I recall the days (10 years ago) when I could simply order the bbq chix pizza and actually see adequate chicken on it. For the longest time, CPK has been cheap with how much they use. Well, I put a stop to that last night! When I ordered the pizza last night, I told the server to make for sure there are at least three pieces of chicken on each slice and adequate cilantro. To our luck, the manager was standing next to him. I told them both, I will send it back until it's fixed right. I'm tired of getting pizza with nothing on it. I was nice to the server about it, but also let him know I want what I pay for. I told the manager I wanted it to look like the picture on their menu. There's no reason it shouldn't. We were totally shocked when we got the pizza! It looked like the pizza they were famous for back in the days and it tasted really good. I just wish it was that way every time without the customer needing to tell them.

Ordered the half salad and it was probably big enough for 3 people. Seriously. Huge. Then went with the thin crust pepperoni pizza. 8 slices total. The wine pours were also very generous. You come here when you want a lot of food and not spend a lot. If you are looking for something else you may end up disappointed.

I came here with a couple friends and got the pesto chicken pasta. I thought it was absolutely delicious. I stole a bite of some friends' pizzas and they were alright, but not super wonderful. The service is very good. Our waiter was really nice, making conversation and even cracking jokes while still serving all the other tables in our section with efficiency. (A friend of mine kept asking for refills on his rootbeer...I think he had about six or seven...and the waiter was always quick and after the first three just started bringing rootbeers every time he came by haha.) I can only assume the other members of the staff are like that, friendly and hard working.

Hello! Yummy apps for lunch - the highlight was the mac and cheese bites! Just the right amount for a craving! The asparagus and arugula salad was beautifully presented, but light on the asparagus and therefore a little disappointing. What wasn't was not having to ask for honey with my tea because they just brought that and the lemon, the service, and a salad/lunch menu that I want to explore more (they had me at roasted peaches and roasted vegetables...). This may be a new "we just finished a big project at work" celebration lunch tradition!

3.80 stars. Came here today for lunch with my boss and co-workers (5 people total) The decor is nice, and there are plenty of tables. Even though we came at the height of fidi lunch time (12:30pm), there were still open tables (not sure if that's a good thing...). We decided to do family style, and we ordered 3 appetizers, 2 pizzas, 1 salad, and 1 pasta. For the appetizers, we ordered the avocado rolls, a spinach-ish dip with chips, and the humus. All the dishes were good. We ordered the spicy Italian sasuage pizza and some mango-chicken pizza. The mango-chicken one was very flavorful, unique, and delicious. Finally, we got some portobello mushroom raviolis. That was good too. Service was attentive and good. Overall, this place is great. The price is slightly high for the portions, but this is fidi. I would recommend this place.

I have never been to CPK because of how commercial it is but I was pretty surprised at how good the food was! My friend and I came here yesterday (Sunday) and they put us on a waiting list. Only ten minutes so not terrible. The server ( whose name I forgot but she had a tattoo behind her right ear that was the guy from pacman) was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the garlic chicken pizza! So good! The portions were great and the pricing was appropriate.

Good variety of food. Both the pizzas and pastas are tasty. The food will definitely fill you up. Good back up restaurant for when you aren't sure of what you want, since they offer pizzas, salads, pastas... etc. Dessert was good too EXCEPT we found a little white hair in ours.. ew. Might be some sort of wait, depending on the time and occasion. Waiters are friendly for the most part.

Kudos to this restaurant for gettig us a table on a saturday night for 11 people with no wait. Another brownie point for being able to split the check multiple ways. BIG portions and cheap prices! On to the food: I love the kung pao spaghetti, the chicken alfredo, the spaghetti bolognese, almost all the pizzas. The tortilla soups pretty bomb as well and also the house bread and butter! Their alchy drinks are good too but I'm a big fan of their strawberry lemonade!

Had had an early dinner here with a friend this evening. I haven't been to a CPK in maybe five years, but it was pretty different from what I remember. This one feels a bit fancy, nice ambiance. We came in around 4 - 4:30. There were only a few customers and yet we stood at the door for a good while until someone finally appeared to take care of us. Annoying, but our super friendly and helpful waiter made up for it. For a chain, the food is great. I was happy with my carne asada pizza and my friend enjoyed her wild mushroom one. We loved the crust, which is pretty uncommon for both of us. We shared the white corn guacamole for an app; it was okay, but I wouldn't waste money on it again. I was amused by the effort in plating bland guac and freaking Tostitos. The wine is way overpriced, so we skipped it. Most of that crap you can get a bottle at Safeway for the price they're charging per glass.

I'm not a fan of pizza after eating it so much every week for work but I'd have to say that I love their wide selections here. This is my 2nd time going to a CPK and actually it's pretty good. I came here with a big group and CPK was very accommodating. We sat down pretty fast and the server brought us our drinks pretty fast too. The BF and I shared a Miso Seafood Salad and I loved it!!! Especially considering the fact that I'm not a fan of napa cabbage and onions but I actually eat it in in this salad. The full size salad is a pretty big portion but it's more worth it if you share with two or three people. Just the salad along can fill you up pretty good. I didn't eat the pizza this time but last the I had the pizza, I liked it. My only downside is, don't order the strawberry lemonade, it's kinda too sweet for my taste but the peach lemonade is a lot better. This place is great for big groups and again emphasizing the point that they're very accommodating.

We arrived before noon and there was no line. I had the wild mushroom pizza and requested the thin crust. I'm on a thin crust kick right now. I have to admit, for CPK/chain pizza this stuff was pretty darn good. The service was good, although it was a bit hard to get the waiter's attention at times. But once we did he promptly brought over whatever we needed. He was also really friendly. The establishment itself is clean and spacious. The bathrooms I noticed were really clean. Overall, good lunch spot especially when your boss treats you to lunch! :D Fast service. Decent prices for the serving size.

I went to CPK for a friend's birthday, and had a very mediocre time. Now, admittedly, the party was about 28 people. I can understand that things are going to be slow or a bit chaotic when there is that many people, but our service bordered on absolutely terrible. a) They sat us on the outside "patio" protected by flimsy plastic panels which couldn't keep the wind out. We had heaters above, but one was broken, and the others didn't let off enough heat to keep anyone warm. b) Waiter consistently forgot requests. A friend ordered an appetizer and a pizza and the appetizer came -after- the pizza, even though she asked for it to come before. c) Water was only refilled once 90% of the table ran out completely. Lemonade was never refilled. d) Bread was the last thing to arrive. Hello? Luckily they didn't bother us when we had to wait for another thirty minutes in the outside patio area for our ride. It was obvious that our waiter was overworked, and I wish that with such a large group, they would have given us two waiters. But that'd be smart and not a good business decision, right?

I have a monthly designer meeting that I hold at my office in which I am in charge of putting the whole event together, this includes the food. I thought I'd try something different, I usually order from Extreme Pizza (love them). Anyhow, I ordered 15 pizzas & three large salads for roughly 40 people. When the delivery person pulled out the boxes I literally gasped. I could not believe how incredibly small these discs were. They looked like personal pizzas. Let me tell you, I was so embarrassed to serve this to my starving artists. Had I known I would have stuck with Extreme. Know in advance that these pizzas are not for groups, more like for two people who are not very hungry.

I can't hate on CPK; I haven't had a pizza there in years, but whenever I see one, my mouth starts to salivate for the BBQ chicken salad and Mexican Chicken Tortilla Soup - yummy! CPK is relatively inexpensive, quick and tasty - it's a great, reliable option. This location has a pretty decent outdoor seating area; it's a little dark (I don't know if it ever gets sunny there), but it's nice because they have heat lamps and those plastic protective sheets so that it stays nice and toasty for those cold San Francisco summer nights...

Girlfriends: Heather, Jannette, Alexis, Arielle, Veronica and Edelmira Ambiance: Almost glamorous atmosphere. Nice, semi- classy ambiance for a typical Wednesday lunch. Salud!: Just diet cokes and H2O. No vino allowed during worktime. Treats: Pretty good tasting barbecue chicken pizza and pear/Gorgonzola pizza but what' s up with the soggy crust?! Flavorful Mediterranean salad. Just okay appetizers (spinach dip with chips and eggrolls) were just okay.Thai salad for our lactose-intolerant friend. Tequila pasta.( It was cheezy and delish!) $$: Expensive lunch. $126.00 for 6 people including tip and 4 non-alcoholic drinks. Overall reaction: Worthy of 3.5 stars if allowed. The meal was nice but it didn't "grab" me. However, I will definitely go back once I start craving gourmet pizza again.

I'm going to let you in on a dirty little secret. CPK is one of the stand-by restaurants for a certain set of Yelp employees. *Gasp* I know, I know, you're asking yourself, "A chain? How can this be?" Admittedly, CPK is full of convention center business tourists and the food is mediocre at best. Now, ask yourself where you can go downtown for a guaranteed booth and a beer at 12 p.m. on a work day. Hmm? Your wheels are turning, aren't they? If I see you there, let's just look the other way. What happens off Yelp, stays off Yelp.

I work a few blocks away and me and my coworker were looking for some place new to grab lunch (instead of Whole Foods that we're basically obsessed with). I've been to several other CPK before, but this one is definitely on the classier side. The decor is actually quite fancy for a CPK. But on to talk about the food. The pizza flavor combinations are great, maybe even too many making it hard to decide! I ordered the California Club pizza which comes with chicken, bacon, avocado and a lettuce. I had ordered it with the thin crust because I love the thin crunchiness over the regular crust. UNFORTUNATELY, the made it with the regular crust. I didn't want to wait for a new pizza (because it looked so good I just wanted to dive in) and it was really good. CPK is always a good time and their pizzas are pretty great too.

Our company placed an order yesterday to be delivered. This particular CPK delivers with in a 3 block radius . After CPK left, I checked my order and realized that the Shanghai egg rolls were missing. I called CPK to ask what happened. The CPK people out were completely apologetic and promised to deliver my egg rolls with in 15 minutes. They were here in 10 minutes-- prompt and curtious as always,with additional Diet pepsi bottles as an apology. These guys are awesome. BTW the greek pizza was packed up pizza, veggies and sauce in different containers- very smart since it can get messy-- delicious as always!!

Had lunch with a good friend here last week. This was my first time in this location and I must say the atmosphere is nice. It seemed like a more upscale restaurant than CPK. The server offered us free wine, which was certainly a nice offer. My friend took them up on a glass of pinot grigio. As we could have imagined it was just an ounce or two, which was just enough to whet her appetite for lunch. Makes me recall my time in Paris where most restaurants would offer a free digestive (liquer) before lunch! I had iced tea, which if you know me is my favorite drink with lunch. I like iced tea so much that it can almost ruin my lunch if it's bad tea. CPK's was okay. My friend ordered fish tacos, which I know doesn't sound like something you'd get at CPK, but they know pizza isn't for everyone. She liked them. What I found curious though is that they come with chips and salsa and the salsa portion seemed to be the largest part of her lunch. I guess it makes the whole entree look more substantial. Little wine, big salsa. I had a veggie sandwich on onion and herb bread along with the minestrone soup. The sandwich was tasty and right sized for lunch. The soup was salty. I exchanged it for the split pea and barley, which hit the spot on a cold and damp day. We did not have dessert. All in all I was pleased with the atmosphere, service and food. Always good to get together with old friends in comfortable surroundings. What would have made this review 5 stars? Free iced tea and parking out front!

Always friendly staff, plenty of tables and fresh tasty food. My favorite dishes are Chinese chicken salad, BBQ chicken pizza, and garlic noodle w/chicken. I frequent CPK at least once a month either third street or Van Ness location. So far never disappointed!

This CPK is literary across the street from my work (no joke). I come here at least twice a month to either have lunch with my co-workers or meet up with friends for drinks after hrs. =) i like the comfortable atmosphere and I can't seem to get enough of their Thai pizza on thin crest!

I went here to celebrate a new team members on their first day. The VP strongly suggested the fish tacos so the newbies followed suit (good move!) Us old timers ordered salads and sandwiches. Our waitress was informative and funny! She had her elevator pitch down pat. She kind of sang it to us like a cheerleader...Our food arrived and we all devoured it. So predictably tasty. I was thoroughly satisfied with my Moroccan Chicken Salad and tortilla soup. They were advertising a new dessert...Butter Cake. We ordered one to share amongst the 5 of us. We all moaned with delight. Later on I felt a little sick. I think the Butter Cake is well made with butter...

I'm a pizza purist and after all of my scathing pizza reviews, I should probably be embarrassed to admit that I actually like CPK. And, I kinda always have. I love me some Thai Pizza. But, to me, it's not really pizza. Its just yummy stuff on bread. Is the food here killer? No. But it is a guilty pleasure I indulge every now and then. I like this one better than the one on Van Ness. It's newer and the decor is actually quite nice and the men's room is clean too. The service is always upbeat & friendly and quick to refill your soda. Please don't call me a hypocrite!!!

I recently went to CPK with two co-workers during lunch on a Friday and we had an awful experience from beginning to end. We got there at about 12:45, ordered by 12:50, got our drinks and then never saw our server again. Finally at about 1:30 we tracked down the manager to tell him that this type of service is unacceptable and that our lunch hour was just about over so we were going to have to get our food to go. The manager packed up our lunches in to go boxes and brought them to us, and they were really cold, which meant our food had been sitting there for a while completely ignored by our server. The manager took the most expensive meal and a drink off the check, but then screwed up the charge to one of the credit cards so we had to wait longer to get that cleared up. I understand that lunch rushes can get crazy, but I also expect restaurants to be prepared for the rush and able to handle it properly and the staff at CPK was certainly not prepared or able to handle it. I will never be dining at this location again.

A really good place to get food on your way to MoMA. CPK is a favorite stand-by... they never dazzle me - but I know I can get a a nice meal at a fair price. The servers at this CPK were especially nice.

I don't know what to rate this place. And here's why: Drinks? Weak. Service? No really....where is the service? Pizza? Dependably Delicious. I split the Goat Cheese With Roasted Peppers pizza with my friend (Mild Goat cheese with roasted red & yellow peppers, grilled Japanese eggplant, Mozzarella cheese, carmelized onions, Italian parsley and our tomato sauce. Applewood smoked bacon added upon request.). I hadn't eaten since noon. It was nearly 10pm. I was post-Yelp-event tipsy. And this pizza was perfect.

I stopped by this place the other night because it is right next to the garage I was parked at and decided to pick up dinner for my boyfriend and I. I was very impressed by how friendly everyone was, and my take-out order was prepared really fast! I was having fun sitting and watching what was going on in the kitchen and before I knew it it was ready to go. Had the BBQ pizza and a field greens salad...perefect portions to split between two people. Yummy! And they even gave us bread and butter to go which made a great midnight snack. I think ill be bringing pizza home a lot more!

We were the jerks that went in 30 minutes before close, and to be honest, I expected to be treated that way. I was wrong. Our server Abby gave us time to look over the menu, quickly brought us our food, which was delicious, offered us dessert, and kept up with refills of our custom mixed drinks. We were actually fully satisfied and out of there within a half hour. Not typical customer service for a restaurant about to close. I was impressed. We ate the fried macaroni an cheese as an appetizer - only $4, and way better than Cheesecake Factory's (if you're a connoisseur of fried pastas). We split a 5 Cheese and Tomato pizza (three pieces each), which was just enough. Both choices were excellent.

Lunch time...hungry...very hungry....looking for somewhere to sit down and enjoy good "special" pizza... Special meaning, different types of pizza...a good variety...more interested in toppings and crust rather than sauce. Arrived at 12:30 on a weekday, extremely busy...but luckily there was a lot of staff on duty and a large dining room...nice decor...friendly staff. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza with blue cheese ranch for dipping...tasty...a bit salty but hey that's pizza for yah...good size portion...about 10 inch pizza, plenty for one person...I only finished half. Now it's 4:20 and my stomach is kinda turning...hmmm might think twice about spending $15 on a pizza thats making my stomach turn...

By far one of the nicest CPK's I've ever eaten at... Clean, good service and good grubs! The bathroom was so nice I went twice. Hey, that rhymed, but serioiusly though I might have to start going to CPK more often after I learned about a new pizza on their menu. The Meat Cravers... Delicious! There was this really good drink I ordered a while back too, but I forgot what it was called. It was like a fruity alchoholic icee type smoothie. Man, it's making my mouth water just thinking of it! I was excited the first time I stepped into this place for a friend's birthday because I'd always seen this place, passed by it - but never walked inside. I figured that since they looked so classy, that their food would be Heaven-sent and all that, y'know, make me never look at pizza the same way ever again. That type of thing. I was kind of disappointed. While they definitely had a ton more different types of pizza than Round Table has to offer, the taste couldn't be compared. I was with a huge group of friends so we pretty much ordered everything off the menu, one for each person. Then we passed them around and had one from each pizza. Blegh. What? I think I spit a bite of pizza more into a napkin than I did chewing it. Some of them were decent, but most made my insides shudder. Store-bought pizza tastes better! Round Table, you are still the winner.

Really love CPK. It's also great having CPK delivered through waiters.com . My favorite is the Chicken Marsala and the grilled Vegetable salad. Their Sticky Toffee Pudding is by FAR my favorite dessert in all of SF. It even beats my second favorite at Town Hall!

Any town I go to I immediately look for one of these restaurants. They are always amazing and make original pizzas from California ingredients. Their pizza is outstanding.... and a miracle from heaven above. After eating one, I want to get all gospel and just sing out load baby!

BLT Pizza? Yay! Friendly service (for the most part)? Yay! Tasty frozen drinks? Yay! Slightly off the beaten path, but convenient to everything? Yay! The quality of the pizza is superb and there is a broad selection for every palate (including options for those who don't eat pizza). While the host/hostess service is usually disappointing, the servers usually make up for it with their friendly nature. Yes, it is a chain, but it is not crowded with families (like Olive Garden) or Union Square shoppers (like Cheesecake Factory). Service/quality is consistent at other locations throughout San Francisco.

Ate here with some art pals after a long day at wondercon. Their waldorf salad with vinegrette was excellent. Lots of letuce with tart dressing, apple, grapes and candied nuts and flavorably balanced. The pizza although sized for an individual were big. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowdar. It was like a smoky tortilla soup with bits of chicken, peppers in a creamy corn base. The pizzas were better then I thought they would be, not to heavy on the sauce and a great compremize between thick and thin crust. Also even though we didn't have a reservation they sat 5 of us very quickly and were able to accurately split the check. The servce was great too. The decor and booth comfortable and inviting. I would eat there again.

I have to admit that I am secretly in love with CPK pizza. I have always enjoyed the pizza and try to stop by whenever I am in the area for lunch. This particular location seems to be the best in the area. They offer a clean establishment with fairly quick service. I was recently in the CPK with a friend for lunch on a wednesday. I had ordered a martini and my friend ordered a cosmo. Both drinks arrived and tasted like they had absolutely no alcohol. I can taste the smallest amount of alcohol and neither drink had any at all. We explained this to the server and she immediately went back and had it corrected. Apparently, the manager was making drinks at the bar and thats why they were virgin. This really didnt make me feel any better about the delay. However, the food is always good and I have to admit that is the only reason i go back. I recommend the pizza but steer clear of the bar.

I love their pizza. The restaurant is fantastic. I used to intern at a law firm that was about three or so blocks away and often times we'd go out to lunch here or at Osha Thai, which was a block away on Second. We kept coming back and recently, when I came back to visit those attorneys and paralegals that I worked with last year, we decided to continue our tradition: CPK! I recommend all of their pastas but they are a bit on the greasy side. My favorite is the fettucine alfredo with chicken breast but their sauce is a little bit greasy for my tastes, yet it does satisfy my cheese cravings. I've gotten three pizzas consistently, although I should try to get some other kinds of pizzas to diversify my palate: Jamaican Jerk, "The Works," and the carne asada pizza, which comes with this salsa-like tomatoes that I would rather wish they didn't include. All of those pizzas are fantastic (yes even the carne asada with the tomatoes I dislike). The servers are also fantastic; they are quirky, upbeat, and very down-to-earth. They are more than happy to share their favorites and give their own recommendation (one of the attorneys was happy with the crabcakes she recommended). CPK is simply fantastic.

I remember when CPK opened its first restaurant in San Francisco on Geary (in the current Colibri location across the street from the Curran Theatre). I found out about it because they placed a two page ad in the San Francisco Examiner. I was obsessed with this place, and I had a goal to eat in as many CPKs as possible (Don't laugh--Three locations in SF, Palo Alto, Irvine, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and Hillsdale Shopping Center). It's a chain, and CPK does what a chain should do best--prepare consistent food. I'm quite partial to the Thai Chicken Pizza, the Kung Pao Chicken Spaghetti, and the Spinach Artichoke Dip. I like the 3rd Street location. The counter/bar seating facing the kitchen is great for solo dining. I also like the mix of tables and booths they have here.

haven't visited this specific location in a little over a year, but the experience definitely left a positive impression. We were in a large party, around 15 - 20 people and it was my ex's 21st birthday dinner. They have this strange rule of not seating parties until everyone arrives, but luckily we are all fairly punctual and we were sat promptly. Though the menu is varied, the food has a unified chain-like taste. This however, is not a bad thing because i enjoyed the menu items we selected. The thai chicken salad is a bit salty, but the oriental flavors of cilantro and peanut standout quite well. I am a fan of their BLT and Scampi Pizzas, unique and tasty. Even though we were a party, service was spot on. I work in the restaurant industry so i tend to be on the picky side, but nonetheless, CPK's staff is professional and friendly.

I swear I'm not a food snob!!!! Okay maybe I am - but just a little bit. the food is okay. The pizza isn't the best. There are a bunch of other places in San Francisco where you can find "to-die-for pizza." I found the pizza rather dry. The salads are quite the treat; the Thai Crunch salad being my favorite but all in all the food is,well, EH. The service was pretty good tonight - it was a bit more entertaining because we were trying to get our friend to ask for our server's phone number - but she was too shy. But we giggled from the beginning of dinner to the very end. Poor Jerremy.

Some friends and I were in SF today and we decided the CPK looked really good for lunch. The staff was very friendly and the environment is so chill and modern, but I was very disappointed in the pizza. Since it is a "pizza kitchen" you would figure the pizza would be their specialty, but oddly enough my strawberry margarita and sliced bread was much better. =/ I just don't think the tasted as good as it could have, especially for nearly $15. As I said, everything else was good but I was just disappointed. Next time I'm getting pasta instead, maybe it will be more satisfying.

CPK is definitely not the best pizza money can buy. It's not even all that great, and it's actually pretty expensive. CPK allows you to be pretty creative with your pizza. I mean, can you get a Thai Chicken pizza (chicken, peanut sauce, bean sprouts, basil, etc) or a California Club pizza (lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, avocado, etc) at your local pizza joint? Unlikely. Somehow, you even get the illusion that their pizza is good for you. "California" must mean healthy. Sure, CPK pizza is not as greasy as those pies at some of your regular pizza hangouts, but who are we kidding? It's still pizza. The decor screams "chain restaurant," but at least you get a booth most of the time. I also like the open kitchen, so you can watch your pizza being made. I guess you can't expect luxurious digs at a restaurant sharing the building with an Office Depot and a parking garage (see my review of Hearst Parking Center). Also, I don't really understand the one and only TV in the corner, always showing CNN. What's wrong with showing ESPN or a ballgame? Service here is hit or miss. My friend and I have lunch here a couple of times a month, and we never know how we'll be treated on this particular day. Most waiters are polite and courteous, but are, by en large, incompetent. Due to a high turnover rate, it is sometimes hard to find someone who knows what he/she is doing. You always see waiters with that confused look on their face, trying to use the restaurant computer. 3 helpful tips from 'regulars' for you: * Show up before the noon lunch rush, or risk waiting in line for a while. * Make sure to ask for bread and butter, or risk not getting either. * Order a half salad for 2 people to share, or risk having leftover salad on your gigantic plate. Good place to go if you're out of lunch ideas and want something easy. I think they validate parking and have outside patio seating, too.

I had dinner at CPK Jan 18. I've always been a fan of CPK, my favorite is the BBQ Chicken salad. The taste is always consistent and that's what I love about it. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza and Hawaiian Pizza and it was delicious, but before the pizza's I ordered Spinach Artichoke Dip with chips. I didn't really like it because I thought it was salty and the chips was not fresh you could easily tell that it was the loose chips at the end of the package. I thought that our server Paolo was great and everyone else who helped bringing the food out had great smiles. I am definitely coming back and Im hopeful that the spinach dip will not be as salty. :)

Arrived around 8:30 or so on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. Ordered a tricolore salad pizza and a garlic cheese focaccia with checca. The pizza was incredible, definitely a healthy choice and the appetizer was good too. Ended up having room for dessert so we ordered a chocolate souffle cake a la mode. Now that was sooo good. Our check came out to be $10 per person. Sweet deal and tipped the waiter a little extra 'cause he was a cutie. I'm planning on coming back soon.

Despite its ubiquitousness as a chain, I can't ever remember going to a CPK before. "Chain" usually screams so-so food, but my wild mushroom pizza was surprisingly good. Even the hot fudge brownie dessert seemed to be hit with everyone else at the table. The waitstaff were extremely nice. But they've only been open a month, and I'm always leary of service in the beginning stages. You just never know if the great service is gonna last since they're still riding on that new restaurant high... Booth seating is aplenty, and the dining area is bright, with a honey-colored hue that resonanates throughout. The bar counter has a flatscreen hovering over it, which I thought they could've done without. I'm tired of seeing the Giants lose.

I hardly ever come here, but it is convenient for when I need to call in a huge order. Although, there's outdoor seating which, even next to a busy bus stop, is nice for a sunny afternoon! I called in ahead of time and when I went to pick up the order, I got FABULOUS customer service every step of the way. I was greeted kindly and directed to the takeaway station, and every associate working at the takeaway counter participated in putting my order together. There was someone telling me she put (tons!) of bread and butter in the bag, another repeating my order, and I believe a manager ringing me up. Everyone was extremely kind and friendly! Also, I usually have my vendors credit card or a copy with their signature and authorization of me using their credit card with me and the manager here was very kind in taking the information and making sure it was all legitimate. I showed him my ID/badge and everything. I didn't feel at all that he was giving me a hard time but was being very careful to make sure no fraud was being committed, I really appreciated that. Even though I made it there a little late to pick up the food, everything was packed neatly and still fresh when we opened it all up to eat. It was packed separately so nothing was soggy. I love the bbq chicken salad and the carne asada pizza, yum!!! I was very satisfied with the excellent customer service here. I'm definitely keeping this place at the top of my list to pick up lunch when we need to place huge orders and it definitely helps that my company gets a generous discount here! :)

Usually, I think that CPK is just ok. I've been to several different locations and I think the food is decent, but it is a chain afterall. I guess I'd become spoiled since I moved to San Francisco as my overall rating of this restaurant has gone down. Now, I went into this location to pick up some food to go. Like I said, I usually expect it to be ok, but nothing special. When I came in, I noticed that it had a more urban decor to it, which is sort of what I like. Think industrial look to the cool restaurants in SOMA, but a little more subtle. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad and the chicken marsala and the total was around $27. Again, since I live in the city, this is a pretty damn cheap dinner. They said it would take 15-20 minutes to prepare, but it was done in about 7-8, so again, I was impressed. We ate the food at home and it was decent to good, typical of CPK, but I was impressed with the service and the decor, as compared to other CPK locations

Tried their new Pesto Chicken Pizza - Neopolitan style (thin crust). I don't like sun-dried tomatoes, so I ask them to leave those off. Should have asked them to skip the onions too (picked off a pile). Yes, I'm picky in that way. But even with my simplified pizza - it was really good! No leftovers. Also celebrated Friday with the CPKolada. Malibu and Bacardi rum with pina colada mix - you get to chose what type of puree you want in it - I chose raspberry. Yummy!

First time experience. I ate here just because I wanted something after my great adventure at the Museum of Modern Art. Usually I eat California Pizza Kitchen in the frozen food section. So this was definitively a step above that. I had the asparagus pasta which was really good. Friendly service. Plenty of seating and ambiance level was at a minimum. Not a bad place to go when your stomach is calling out.

I guess CPK is okay for being a chain restaurant. I only get the pizzas here, but I mean it's known for their pizzas right? I had the Sicilian Thin Crust Pizza and it was decent. It was loaded with toppings and the thin crust was just perfectly crispy and golden brown. The size of the pizza was really big and could have lasted me three meals. There pizza is split into 6 large slices and it takes about 2 slices to fill me up, so it's better than you share this with a friend. It may look small since it's thin crust, but trust me, you will get full! Also tried the Mediterranean Spring Roll, which was okay.. nothing that special and probably wouldn't order it again.

Yeah, I went there. You got a problem with that? Well, actually, I kind of had a problem with it, too. It's effectively a Denny's on steroids where they manage to communicate directly with your inner dietary bad boy. Want some super sweet BBQ sauce on your pizza? No problem. How about some carnitas or lettuce wraps? They have that, too. Wait, is that a pumpkin cheesecake with ginger graham cracker crust on special? Yup, so much for local, organic, high-end cuisine. Though not necessarily delicious, CPK is endless fun as long as you're willing to confess your sins.

I recently decided to try CPK's takeout service and experience the delicious deep fried mac and cheese bites without getting a table for myself. Using the iPhone application was very quick and easy to order (although I wish their Pizza Dough app was integrated and not separate). Signing up to their dough rewards program landed me a free small plate, which covered my deep fried mac and cheese! Napkins, utensils and bread were a free add-on. I still owed 9 cents at the end of it all for tax, but the employee quickly offered to remove the tax to make my meal entirely free! This is awesome. Overall, great service and experience! Definitely sign up for the Pizza Dough Rewards Program and try the crispy mac and cheese for yourself.

I get contrasting feelings when I come to CPK. On one hand, I'm not a fan of big-box restaurants that only deserve a visit in a shopping mall or a freeway exit, especially when I'm in downtown San Francisco, an international hub of fine cuisine. Alas, I bit the bullet and came here for a post-happy hour dinner with my colleagues from work. The venue is huge, and you'll find yourself being escorted between what seemed like dozens of rows of tables. I started my meal with low expectations. On the other hand, I have to admit that these folks make some really good pizzas. They won't change your life or anything, but you'll be perfectly satisfied with a white pizza ($12.10) and the spicy chipotle pizza ($12.85). Extra points for some creative pizza offerings, like the habanero carnitas original crust pizza ($13.6). On average, us hungry folks downed one pizza per person with ease. Huge fan of the appetizer menu. In fact the apps were the star of the table, with everyone reaching restlessly for the morsels. We've eaten here a couple of times and it was pretty good...with so many choices in SF, we normally only eat here when out of towners want to, as it is a familiar name for them. So I order the thin crust pizza which I've had before (pear and gorgonzola) and it comes to me burnt to a crisp...so I think, I'll just soldier through and eat it...Sadly, it was just plain nasty...couldn't do it. Strangely enough, both the server and runner were very solicitous of my opinion of the pizza which I thought strange at the time but it made sense to me when it was so awful...So I decide to send it back and ask for a new one. Meanwhile, my guest has eaten her meal (she began when we both received our meals) and is finished while I'm still waiting for the second pizza..It arrives and the server is insistent that I try it before we leave (I requested it to be wrapped for takeout as we have now been there 1hr and 15 minutes)..I do and it's fine. So she totals the bill and announces happily that I had ordered two pizzas but she has taken one off for my trouble.... Clueless... We will not be back, there are just too many dining opportunities in SF to have such a stupid experience...Note to management; train your people properly please. The one star is for my companions salad, she enjoyed it...lucky girl..

Best place to have a celebration, and you'll get amazing pizza. Additionally, it's got a great ambiance to it and you always feel at a sense of ease.

It took 30 minutes for us to be seated. And then it took another 30 minutes for the waiter to come & take our drinks order. He brought the appetizer out with no plates. We had to use our hands as plates. The food was really good & they brought it out pretty fast. So props to the chef. But the waiter was horrible!

Came here for my bro & sis birthday on a Sunday for lunch. I thought we were going to the CPK in Hillsdale, but decided on this one because it's a lot closer. When we were half a block away, it looked there wasn't anyone there. While I was walking closer, I was thinking, OH NO it's not open because it's not a weekday. This CPK is much nicer looking than the one in Hillsdale, I have to give props for that. We went in around 1-2PM, it was empty, there were some people, not a lot. We ordered bbq chicken pizza w/ honey wheat crust, spring rolls and mango lemonade. The food was good like any other CPK. Spring rolls, I've had better, they were just okay. Spring rolls also came with some salad. UNLIMITED mango lemonade, refilled it once. Oh yeah, so why 3 stars & not 5??????? After swiping my credit card, the lady returned with the receipt, SHE CIRCLED TIP ON MY RECEIPT. WHO DOES THAT???? I have never had anyone do that, I was so angry and I left MORE than the usual 15% tip. I should have gave her $1, and wrote a note why. UGHHH SO ANGRY, I would have given them 4 stars, but NO, can't do that anymore. Is it because I'm Asian or was it because we're young????? Down to 2 stars now, SO MAD NOW.

I have have ordered carry out from this CPK several times and the gluten free pizza is probably the best gluten free pizza I have had. A few days ago I decided to sit in the restaurant to eat. We were seated very quickly but the waitress took her time coming over to our table and taking our drink order. She came back to the table without our drinks (which were waters) to take or food order. We each ordered a petite wedge salad and a gluten free Jamaican Jerk to share. She finally came with our waters about ten minutes later. When she brought out our salads she asked if we wanted any dressing on them. I though that was a better question to ask when taking the order. She brought our dressing at the same time as our pizza. I would not have minded that her service was not great, but she never apologized for anything, she just made unnecessary excuses. I do not think I will be dining in at this CPK again, but I will still order take out because the food is pretty good.

The avocado club egg rolls are to DIE for. It's avocado, chicken, bacon, and Monterey jack cheese wrapped in a deep fried roll. The flavors are perfect together (especially with the dipping sauce), and it's just perfectly crispy. Even though it's an appetizer, you could eat it as a meal alone. The pizzas are good, but always seem like a rip-off in terms of price. I also tried the Norwegian Atlantic Salmon to balance out my meal with something healthy! It was good and very nice blackened; the vegetables were ok, but nothing can compare to those rolls.. Oh, and our waitress was really friendly and nice!
