Excellent excellent food. Damn my burrito was good. The food is prepared fresh and isn't greasy or oil soaked. The tortillas are delicious and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is always friendly and fast. You won't regret eating here and your gut won't punish you the next day for housing a burrito.

Ok so it gets a little hot and the place could use an AC boost on a hot day, but really, this place is delicious. The tacos go for about $3.50 which is comparable (and most of the time cheaper) than Tacos Perla and City Tacos, but they are WAY bigger. The mole is delicious, and the grilled snapper. The side of guac is $3.50 but it is probably enough for 4-5 people, and you can always ask for a lid to take it home. The side of beans for $1.50 is also great. Note: the burritos for $9 are HUGE so if you're not all that hungry, I recommend sharing. Also has great Jamaica, which is hard to find sometimes.

This was one of the best vegetarian burritos I've had in San Diego. I really appreciate that they offer a vegetarian option that isn't just the classic grilled veggie combo. We got the soyrizo and papas burrito and added rice and cheese with sour cream and guac on the side. The burrito was really big and the free chips were something I would have paid for. The guy helping us was really nice and accommodating, but not over the top annoyingly friendly, which I appreciate because it's sincere. I'd definitely recommend going here if you're a vegetarian!

I have eaten here 10 times, I have munched out of control their chips and salsa. It's slightly pricey but I am okay with this because their house made chips and salsa bar is spectacular and they do not care how much you eat. I fantasize about bringing Anthony Bourdain to San Diego. I would bring him to this shop. Everything is so fresh, their shrimp tacos are to die for, beautifully prepared with white sauce, succulent shrimp and I use their house made GREEN sauce bishes because green sauce tastes great with seafood. The people behind the counter are so nice, they are mi corazon !!!

Thank God for this place. This counter balances the pile of tacky garbage that infiltrated NP across the street. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is, there's no beer. Beer is essential for eating tacos and when they get their beer license, I'll bump it up. Love it's walking distance and they serve incredible food. Nice open place that's brand new and clean. The menu is AWESOME. Everything they had on the menu I wanted. Went with the lengua, mole and snapper tacos. THESE TACOS ARE HUGE! At least the meat ones are. They do put rice and beans in at the bottom of their tacos and they're great. Each taco was dead on delicious. Salsa bar and help yourself nachos are an extra bonus. Smart patio too. So much better than the vegetarian hippie place before it. Remington + Amocito + Lefty's = a serious building of heavy hitters. Eat a taco, go next door for a beer and a slice then go get tattooed.

This place is delicious! I can't finish the whole burrito on my own. I always split it with a friend. This is my favorite burrito in San Diego because I don't have to add anything to it. The carne asada burrito comes with sour cream, guacamole and I forget what else but those two are important to me. The staff is very friendly too! I love that they have tortilla chips in what looks like a popcorn maker. It keeps the chips warm and you can put as much as you want in a bag and take them to go. Perfect!

Before I review this place, I must confess that I've never eaten a fish taco before. It's not that I've never seen them on a menu, it's just they've never sounded appealing. Now, on to the review. This place is easy to find and in a great location next to a few other eateries, coffee shops, and even a bar. I imagine this place could get pretty busy later in the day as a result. But, we came here for lunch, so there wasn't a line. There is ample outdoor and indoor seating, and the customer service is personable. Plus, we got our food very quickly. Five stars. The menu has everything you could want on a taco or burrito, including vegetarian options and salads. We had the grilled red snapper taco, salmon taco, shrimp taco, and the soyrizo taco. We also partook in the free chips and salsa bar. As for options and ease of selection, five stars. The salsa and chips were great, with spicy and mild options. The pickled onions, carrots, and jalapeños was a nice touch. While the corn tortillas were likely store bought and some of the potatoes were a little undercooked, all in all, all of the tacos were fantastic. I'd give the food a solid four to five stars, but overall this place gets five stars. For my first foray into fish tacos, this place didn't disappoint. If you're in the area, check this place out.

This new Mexican Eatery has a simple yet effective menu. The menu consist mostly of tacos, burritos, salads, and a few other items, but if one thing I have learned visiting a number of eateries around town, is that these simple menus tend to do better. I ordered a trio of corn tortilla tacos: the chile relleno with beans and rice, the carne asada, and the Chochinita Pibil Taco. They came on one larger plate huddled together awaiting my ravenous appetite. But, before the tacos arrived, I hit up the self served salsa bar with tortillas chips. The chips are prepared in house as well as the salsa. The chips were great and so were the salsas. I took down the carne asada taco first, and boy did it come packed with tender flavorful juicy carne. They use the full size corn tortillas, not the mini street taco ones, so there is plenty of room for ingredients. The guacamole was fresh, well seasoned and tasty. The Chochinita Pibil Taco was very good. The pork meat with stringy and stewed in mild chili sauce with a touch of heat. It packed more flavor than heat. This taco was simple, with the meat and pickled onions, so I dressed it up with some green salsa and I was set. A little salty Cotija cheese on this taco would of be just grand. The Chile Relleno taco was bliss. I am already a big fan chile rellenos, so having one in a taco with a small amount of bean and rice, was a special treat for me. The Pepper had great flavor, the cheese was melted and very good, and the dollop of sour cream was a great cooling agent against the pepper. It was not hot thought, but just right. I also ordered a side of rice and it was fluffy, well seasoned, and came with that great tomato and garlic flavor. Very nice people own and work here. Next, I will try either a burrito or salad....

THIS PLACE IS LEGIT!!! We have a massive offering of taco shops in North Park and Amorcito never disappoints!!! The price, the flavor, the friendly staff make it stand out. The food is always so fresh and you can bring dogs on the patio. Make it a regular stop

I've been looking for a solid, casual Mexican eatery to add to my rotation. I was happy to find Amorcito Corazon. Last time, my eating partner had the surf & turf burrito, which was full of shrimp and carne asada. He said the shrimp was good but the carne was a bit chewy and there was sort of a one-note flavor. I can see how that would be an issue since they burritos are massive! I was disgusted that he ate the whole thing. No one should eat an entire burrito here. Share it, for the love of god. My chile verde taco was a FIVE STAR taco, yo. The meat was so tender, which I superloved, and just delicious. I will always be ordering this taco from now on. I really loved it, if you can't tell. My other taco was red snapper and it was good, but not my favorite. (Tacos: $3.50 each) We went there once before and had a great experience, but I can't remember the details on our orders. But that great experience combined with the good one today equals 4 stars, IMO. There is self-serve free chips & salsa. There is a small outdoor seating area that is dog-friendly.

We've been here several times and each time the food is consistently delicious and the service is very fast and friendly. Great options for seafood, vegetarians, and meatlovers as well. The mole is AMAZING. Seafood always tastes fresh. The rajas con crema and huitlacoche are delicious vegetarian options too. Solid salsas. You can tell that this place takes pride in their food and uses traditional home-cooked recipes. With all the Mexican food options in North Park, Amorcito Corazon definitely stands out as one of the best.

  • Patrick Z.

City Tacos has some serious competition now in North Park for Tacos. This place was absolutely great. My girlfriend got the Red Snapper and Huitlacoche Tacos, I opted for a Chile Relleno Burrito. Everything was great! This is not your usual Mexican food stop. The food is not overly greasy and they have a wide selection of meats, seafood, and vegetarian options; different from your usual bean and cheese burritos or cali burritos. Positives: - Attentive Service Even After Food is Dropped Off - Not Greasy - Family Run Business (From Mexico City) - Selection of Tacos, Burritos, Plates, Etc - Around 10 Different Types of Mexican Beers - Reasonable Prices - Free Chips! Negatives - AC is not strong since it is hidden in a hallway (It was pretty warm inside) Definitely will come here again to try their Adobada and Carne Asada since I went vegetarian this time around.

This is where YELP truly shines thru! Without specifically mentioning any other close-by taco shops, there are one or two that do a lot of marketing ($) and I was sold on trying them out, but I just wanted to check Yelp and see what the commoner has to say about the local Mexican. In doing so, I found this place instead!!! Without Yelp, I would have been sucker punched into one of these other spots. Moy, Moy Authentico. All the reviews are spot on. Homemade help-yourself chips with a small but perfectly fresh and sufficing salsa bar. Up until this point, I thought I had tried most Mexican Fare and that I personally make some of the best Carnitas. Well, in walks in Conchitas Pibil. Now I know this is not Carnitas, but for those that are foreign to this dish, it might help to provide an understanding. Think shredded pulled-pork, cooked all day in a Yucatan original achiote base (lets call it a vinegar-style bbq sauce). Holy Pig :) Served with a velvety smooth creamy Guac, pickled red-oniona, arroz, frijoles con queso, y HOMEMADE Corn Tortillas. GREAT- Food & Service *note- it is not your $1 taco joint but it still is a "joint". Meaning, it is just a little more $ than your Baja Taco style places, but not so much as a sitdown. Reason- Simple yet Authentic. Not just your "throw some meat on a grill with salt, warm up an old tortilla, serve with puréed onion & tom", but rather Slow Cooked, Mammas Recipes, Labor Intensive, Do-It-The-Right-Way style.

burrito was good It was chile relleno stuffed my freakin' face Besides the above mentioned (above par) haiku that was written. I must add that this place is a bistro of certain specialty dishes. The must haves: first and foremost 'cochinita pipil', second and fore sencondest 'anything with huitlacoche', third and the thirdiest 'chille relleno'. The place is a greatly priced with supreme sizes fit for the "American" diet. The refills of their lovely guayaba water are amazing. Seriously though, you should go to this place to try out dishes that are not "stereotypically San Diego" related dishes (ie. carne asada fries). Instead, you should venture out of your comfort zone and really enjoy what certain specialty Mexican dishes that Amorcito Corazon can offer your taste buds.

Worst f**king Mexican food I've ever had. Their salsas were old. The green ones like grey. Their Pibil looked radioactive. I refused to try it. Del Mar looked like mush meat was clearly old by taste and look. Shrimp were just meh. Asked for crispy fried inside of course they're mushy. I wouldn't eat this for free.

I ordered the Salmon burrito... So. Yummy. Cabbage, rice (I added rice) and pico de gallo with a light sauce that had a little kick to it! Munched on the fresh chips and salsa bar while I waited. The place was clean and the guy who took my order was friendly. There was a woman handing out completed orders who was super sweet. They have a few tables outside so you can eat and people watch, this is a cute spot, I will come again!

Kind of obsessed with this place - literally I go once a week. Really delicious, quality food for reasonable prices. The staff is incredibly friendly and they allow dogs on the patio which is a plus for me. Highly recommend!!

PROS: - Big burritos - Free chips - Good salsa CONS: - Despite being one of only two patrons in the place, the guy at the counter forgot who I was every time I came back inside for more chips or napkins and welcomed me to Amorcito Corazon - I ate no beans but something in that food loaded me up with enough gas to power the Goodyear blimp through the next 9 Superbowls

This place is just OK, and clearly overrated. I had the surf & turf burrito -- the shrimp was excellent -- cooked perfectly -- but the carne asada was bland and chewy, and not chewy in the good way. I also had a chile relleno taco, which I was surprised to find included rice and beans. Not sure what that was doing in a taco, but there you go. It was OK but not great. Lastly, I had some of their guacamole. Once adding just a touch of salt, it was delicious and probably the best part of the meal. But the worst part are the 3 salsas on offer, which are middling at best. Overall, this place is not bad but not particularly good either. I usually like to try a place a couple times before submitting a review, so if I go back again I'll try some more, hopefully better offerings.

Pretty good stuff, if I do say so myself. I only knew two things before coming to this place 1- The dude that owns it is from Mexico City. 2 - He uses his moms recipes and she helps the kitchen - SOLD After making sure he didnt root for the Mx. City soccer team i despise i was convinced to order something. I had the Lengua plate (tongue) which comes with rice, beans, and homemade tortillas. i think it was about 8 bucks, but they are very good portions and the food was very well prepared. good seasoning, good spices, cooked from scratch. My friend had the Cochinita Pibil which also looked delicious. A breath of fresh air from the gross 'Mexican' restaurants around san diego - Robertos, Rigobertos, Ribertos, etc etc. Mexican food has so much to offer other than the fried, greasy, neon orange cheese you find in most places so i am happy when places like these open. They are new to the block and the owners are very attentive and willing to hear the feedback - thats always a good thing. Give them a shot.

Amorcito is one of the best Mexican eateries I've ate at in San Diego. Alex the owner is nice and very helpful. The food is delicious and the carne asada tacos are excellent! I highly recommend Amorcito.

  • Ashlie R.

Sadly No. Id like to start this off by telling you there Carne Asada fries are made with seasoned curly fries, Which is total abomination to the art. Plain and simple, it's below par Americanized Mexican food.....Pre-made tortillas and all. I would highly suggest you visit City Taco, Salud, tacos el Gordo or even your local Roberto's first. A Great location wasted. Taco Tuesday " deal" is made with substantially smaller portions, Only positive I can say....was there mole was Ok.

Sitting here right now eating an adobada taco. It's excellent. Good portions. I really want this place to do well. Two tacos is easily a meal. One is a hefty snack. Im coming back.

This place has some great tacos. It's definitely worth a visit. I tried four different tacos here: Lengua, Chile Relleno, Shrimp, and Carne Asada. My favorite of the four was the shrimp taco. They don't skimp out on their shrimps. They were juicy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The lengua was my next favorite-- very tender and juicy. The carne asada taco was my least favorite of the four. I like my carne asada hot off an open flame- tender, juicy, and a bit crispy at the ends. Their carne asada was over-cooked for my taste. Its ok though. I'd rather enjoy the lengua, fish, and shrimp tacos anyways. My friend ordered their mole poblano burrito. The mole was excellent, and the burrito was generous. I would definitely come back to try their shrimp burrito and red snapper taco.

I love Amorcito Corazon. The food is so delicious and the customer service is always so nice. Its very hard to find Authentic Mexican food and Amorcito Corazon does it right. Keep up the great work! I would recommend the tacos de lengua and cochinita pibil !delicious! Also the surf and turf burrito is really good.

Great tasting food! Best chile relleno burrito I have tried in San Diego. Better than Tacos Perla.

  • Jasmine L.

This place serves micheladas with fake lime juice! The tortillas are not fresh! And that's not the worst part, they served my vegetarian friend of 11 years chicken !!! She didn't notice it until we pointed out to her. She didn't realize it because of all the dressing!!!

  • NYSD G.

i wanted to go here because of the lengua veracruzana. its something many places don't serve because diners find it to daunting to eat. why, I don't know. its tender and one of the best cuts of meat if prepared and cooked well,...and theirs was. it was super tender and stewed with the tomato based sarsa for a very long time. a bite will leave you wanting more and pausing too long before the next isnt possible. I don't think there was a moment I put down the burrito. the onions and olives it was simmered in, along with but not too much... salsa verde in every bite, OMFG. if I could,...I would've had another. they also have good and fresh grilled salmon and shrimp, but I think diners are missing out on their amazing lengua veracruzana.

Great new Mexican Bistro for the North Park neighborhood. I really like this place. Free chips and much better than average Mexican food. No complaints, very clean and new. Plus my Vegan friend really loves this place because they actually know what the word Vegan means. No lard in the beans and no chicken stock in the rice. (unlike many other places) and they have some good choices for her on the menu. I have not tried any of the salads, but their burritos are spot on. Soon they will have beer and then this place will be perfect. No more Saguaro's or Rigoberto's for me

I had to go to Tacos Perla the other evening because it was too late in the evening and Amorcito Corazón was closed. However, the mediocrity at Perla made me appreciate this place even more, particularly the friendly service. Excellent, fresh food and nice people.

Really good ...chili relleno tacos are one of a kind..I'm definitely coming back !! Gotta live the free chips and salsa bar

A great find. Quality ingredients, friendly service, great free salsa bar (they have the pickled red onions that are hard to find) and another pleasant surprise: a variety of Mexican beers, including some that you don't see very often in SD (Indio, Victoria). I'm definitely coming back.

Small, clean mexican food place. We were greeted with a smile by a very nice lady. I was visiting San Diego for the weekend and my friend brought me here for fish tacos. I got the scallop fish taco and a grilled red snapper fish taco - both were amazing. There are free chips and salsa for while you wait, which is always a nice touch. Highly recommended!

Seriously North Park's best kept secret! The quality of the food here is unreal! I can't rave about this place enough, and I eat a lot of Mexican food. The staff is great and prices are too.

I own a business next door. After seeing the 30th and Upas corner change over the last 4 years this has been one of the best additions. San Diego has a lot of taco/Mexican food shops many of which are similar. This one has a unique flavor and great seafood options as well as a couple vegetarian choices as well. A huge plus for me! I'm very pleased with the little addition to neighborhood!

The tacos were yummy, nothing extraordinary but definitely a great taco shop. Their salsa bar had a good selection with pickled carrots that were the best!

Soooooo yummy! My almost vegetarian husband was in heaven with all of the flavorful options and my burrito was amazing. The tortillas are perfection. We made it a family affair and brought our pup to hang out on their dog friendly patio.

Been three times. Very good fish tacos. Good portion size. Just a little bit better (and cheaper) than tacos perla. Free chips and salsa! They are still waiting on their beer license. Hopefully they will get it soon. Very nice people that work here! Blanca, the owners Mother, is a sweetheart. I'll definitely come back.

Good quality ingredients without the inflated hipster North Park prices. My California burrito was GIANT, it came out in a couple of minute, and was delicious. Hard to find a combination of good quality and cheap lunch prices around the neighborhood, but this place might become a regular of mine. They also had more exotic tacos on the menu (a la Tacos Perla or City Tacos), looking forward to exploring more!

  • Jaime C.

it is totally refreshing to find a good authentic upscale taco shop. I had their Cochinita burrito first, it was so so. But to be fair it's just probably not my thing. I tried a friends Carne Asada burrito.. slapped my own forehead for trying to go all off-menu. The next visit I got their surf and turf. I really liked the one from Taco Surf in PB, but this one blew it out of the water. It was bigger, cost about the same (~$9), wayyy closer to where I live and they give you chips! The lords chips are probably what put it over the mark. It's a nice contrast to the soft flour tortilla. Their salsa selection is ok, not amazing, but palatable.

  • Matt J.

I love this place. The tacos are fantastic--large, delicious, filling--and at $1 less than Perla there is no reason to go there anymore. I've eaten 4 overpriced tacos at Perla and still left hungry. Not here. 2 is plenty. City Tacos still has more creative offerings, but I can only eat so many chorizo tacos. Once this place gets its beer game going it will be perfect.

  • Lindsey L.

This place is amazing!! Everyone who works here is so nice and welcoming plus the food is reasonably priced and delicious! I recommend the shrimp tacos personally but everything I've tried is bomb. I love to yelp awesome places and this is one!! Ps, Wayyy better than tacos perla ( overpriced, not-so-nice staff and food is not very good).

  • Dalton R.

This is my new favorite Mexican spot, in addition to Tacos Perla, on the south end of North Park. We had a group of four, everyone got something different and everyone *loved* their food. The fresh chips, salsa, and pickled vegetables were great, the burritos were huge and stuffed with delicious grilled meat and fish, and the tacos were also large and excellent. No complaints whatsoever. I had the Del Mar surf and turf and it was one of the best I've ever had. I'm looking forward to them getting more settled in (the decor is a bit sparse) and adding beer when they get the license. For now I think I'll just order take out and enjoy it at the Modern Times tasting room across the street!

  • Jessie B.

This place truly surprised me & in the best way possible! I live very close, so the location is outstanding for me! Otherwise the food is really good, the service is great & it's traditional Mexican food that I love. It actually reminds me of my grandmother's cooking & we all know there's nothing better than that. I frequent this restaurant often & plan to continue to do the same. Love Amorcito!

  • Meagan A.

We were hanging out at Modern Times across the street (awesome), but they don't serve food. After perusing the menus of the 2 eateries right next to Modern Times, my friends and I were underwhelmed. I'm sure it's good, but our toddlers aren't likely to munch on octopus noodles. We headed across to this place and I was pleasantly surprised by a friendly staff, who took time to talk about the menu with me and help customize an order that would be good and filling for said toddler. (Went with a pollo asada quesadilla - amazing, adult size that hubby and I polished off the next day!) Also got a CA burrito and fish tacos. After lugging it all back across the street, with free chips, thank you!, I was happy to find that what I thought was a bit too much money got us a ton of food! I had enough fish to make something like 5 tacos and whatever chipotle sauce they have with it is amazing! I ran out of tortillas and ate the fish straight, just dipping it in that sauce. SO good. Hubby loved his CA burrito to, saying he would definitely go back for another at a later date. Pretty high praise for a native SoCal guy who loves his CA burritos. Feedback from everyone else with us was good for the chips and salsa as well. Toddler loved the quesadilla, so everyone was very happy. Very nice people work/run the place and I'm sure they would have been super cool had we eaten in. They were super helpful and really interested my kids, which was nice. Hopefully they work out a deal to deliver to Modern Times, but even if they don't, go grab a taco or burrito and grab a beer at Modern Times - you can't go wrong!

Such a welcomed addition to the 30th and Upas corner. Reasonably priced, delicious tacos and burritos that aren't complicated by fancy salsas or infusions. Although I am a fan of Tacos Perla, AC has earned a more regular spot in my rotation.

3 vegan options: Huitlacoche (mushroom) Napoles (cactus) Soyrizo y Papas (soy chorizo & potatoes) Burrito or taco style or plate style with rice and beans. Chips were good, quality salsas, vinegary carrots...all the fixings. My soyrizo burrito was about 1 pound, very tasty. And the flour tortilla was muy auténtico y delicioso! Looking forward to when they get a beer license and air conditioning (or a big ceiling fan).

THE WORST MEXICAN PLACE IN SAN DIEGO.Being a San Diego native, I've made my way around the Mexican restaurant's and taco shops, so I had high expectations of this place considering the good reviews which I can not understand at all. This was by far the WORST Mexican place I have ever been to in my life!! Taco Bell is better than this. First of all, the menu lacks everything. I ordered a Guava drink and it cost $4.50 and plain!! It was just a watered down pre-made drink! Then I ordered a grilled red snapper fish taco, my mother ordered a chicken taco and guacamole and chips. And over charged her! We were never told the chips were free at the side of the restaurant. I could tell right away that they were store bought chips. The salsa bar was typical, green or red, nothing special by any means. When we got the guacamole, it came in a plastic tub like they sell at the grocery store and it was just over blended avocado! It was so bland, we asked the worker why it was like this, and she said " Well, most people don't like onions" WTF? I mean seriously. You guys made a soupy avocado with no spices?! That's NOT guacamole!!! I honestly thought they just bought it from Von's but Vons actually makes a real guac. The tacos....OMG, just when I thought it couldn't get worse, it did. The red snapper was the size of a sardine and the tortillas they use are STORE bought and nasty. The worst part was they put TATER sauce on it, like the one you use for fish and chips and it tasted out of the jar!! I wont bother describing the chicken taco because it wasn't worth remembering. I left HUNGRY and could've bought a bag of tortilla chips at the market if that's what I wanted. I mean seriously, the people who are raving about this place are either smokers who have lost their tastebuds or completely delusional and just desperate or too lazy to walk anywhere else!! This place is HORRIBLE!! Go to the original Robertos, or at least at Tacos Perla they make HOMEADE EVERYTHING if it's the reason your going because it's within walking distance!! And With all of the Mexican places in a mile radius.. I would avoid this one like the PLAGUE!! If you want to eat good Mexican food in North Park go to El Comal !!! I'm sorry but they can't close soon enough for me and I just can not get over these people who gave good reviews. This place is so gross and pathetic.YOU COULD NOT GIVE ME A FREE MEAL HERE.

I have only been here once, and will consider a 2nd visit, but here is what i had and here is what was wrong. The nopales was utterly tasteless. I make it at home, and when I have had it by Mexican friends there is always onion and cheese for flavor and oregeno. This was like boiled cactus with bell pepper and a little onion. Ugh. Then there was the "Corn Smut" huitlacoche. Ditta. Bell Pepper. bell pepper. bell--pepper. Again, no queso, no sabor, nada. I had Carne Asada, too. It was ok, but nothing especial at all, in fact not nearly as good as at the taco shop on University, Colimas. I was so hoping this place would be special. The rice and beans are pedestrian and the pickled onions in the salsa bar were way too vinegary compared to what i have had in Mexico. I may try this place again, but, i amy not. The rice and beans also look just typical, like any taco shop. Service. Ok. not especially friendly given its a new place. Guy was on the internet the whole time....

Holy wow! By far the largest and highest quality cali burrito I've ever seen or eaten. It could easily feed two people who aren't starving. It comes with guac without an extra charge and the fries are INCREDIBLE CURLY FRIES! The value is great considering how much delicious food you get for your dollar. My wife had the red snapper taco and loved it! I have been a huge fan of red snapper for years and it's great to see it getting some love in the form of an amazing taco. I hope Amorcito is able to keep up the amazing quality as they progress over the next year or two. If I had anything to add I would say a couple more salsa options would be ideal. Overall I can't see myself going down to Luca Libre ever again while Amorcito Corazon is open and in business!

First day opened and they are off to a good start! We ordered their Del Mar Surf & Turf and the Del Mar (battered) Red Snapper taco. Both were delicious! The quality of ingredients was the first thing we noticed/tasted. The taco was a really good size for the price. The red snapper was well cooked and the white sauce & pico de gallo they use really sets it off! The carne asada (I think skirt steak) is juicy and tasty on its own but with shrimp, AMAZING! Oh and free chips and fresh salsa is always a plus! Will definitely be back!!

This isn't your average taco shop. It's much more authentic and I dig it. Tons of really good veggie taco options like the rajas and the chile relleno. I could have used a little more huitlacoche in my huitlacoche taco but it's a rare thing to find on a menu in San Diego so it was still cool to try. Guacamole was excellente. Bonus: Free chips and salsa bar.

We've been about 5 times in the last two weeks *and* here I am writing a review after probably years of no reviewing. I've been enjoying the the carne asada and the shrimp tacos. The latter remind me of South Bear Bar and Grill's, except not fried and without cheese. I would never have expected that a not-fried-no-cheese version of anything could be just as good, but these are.

I had the Surf and Turf burrito and it was delicious, not super greasy or overly stuffed with cheap lettuce etc. The salsa bar is pretty dang good too, the salsa fresca was awesome with a little spice. I will be back to try more.

Love this place. Traditional and original at the same time! Try the huitlacoche burrito or the Chile Verde tacos.

I love this special place! I Generous portions, free chips and salsa, great vegetarian options, yummy salsa and pickled carrots and onions. I love the nopales taco! They offer huitlacoche (aka corn smut) which is really cool and delicious, and a bunch of other tacos and burritos. It's a pretty clean and simple place. I also love that it doesn't attract the usual North Park crowd. It's pretty quiet and has a nice outdoor seating area.

Nice, fast fare. Perfect tortillas; hot and soft with a hint of sourdough flavor and a lot of stretch. Vegetarian friendly, lard free beans. Make your own or have an authentic experience with Nopales (cactus), Huitlacoche (corn mushrooms), and so on. The owner is sweet as a peach asking for recommendations for new burrito choices and wishes for her menu. (I asked for black bean and potato options...) She is expanding vegan and veg choices. Atmosphere cheerful but austere. Help yourself chip and salsa bar!

I'm so glad that this place didn't disappoint. My Del Mar burrito was huge and only $8! You also can't beat free chips and salsa. They even had the pickled onions! You don't really see that around the Uptown area. I'm definitely coming back here and trying everything on their menu. The inside was too warm for my taste so I'm glad they added an outdoor seating area. Edit: I've tried three of their burritos so far (Del Mar, Grilled Red Snapper, and Lengua) and all were amazing. I love this place and the abuelita up front is so sweet and will answer any question you have.

Simple place, good food. Don't over think it. Just come eat. Had the tacos and were very satisfied. The tacos are nicely sized (no itty bitty tacos here) and came well filled. Grilled Red Snapper and Cochinita Pibil were hits. The Carne and Pollo Asado both improved with a little of their tasty salsa. The biggest hit by far however was the Mole Poblano. Order it. Actually get two and send me one. Guacamole portion was more than generous for two, (unlimited self serve chips) and we eat a ton of guacamole in this house.

Place gets four stars, but I have the feeling it's just opening issues that will be worked out as they progress. Fist the decor, it was cute with limited seating. The issue for me was it was hot inside and the outside had no covered seating. My guess is they will probably in a fan, unless they want mostly carry out. Next the food. I got the red snapper grilled burrito, and it was very good (and huge). The wife got the red snapper fried tacos. She said they were fishy tasting, but I liked them. We both agreed the carne Asada fries were friggin awesome. We got our order to go and ate across the street. When we opened the food we discovered we had no napkins and no silverware. I will be back hopefully give it 5 stars next time.

North Park has become inundated with great taco places - but this place is THE BEST. The prices are fair, staff is super friendly, and the food is always spectacular. I love that they have pickled onions, a perfect addition to the seafood tacos. I always tell friends, I have no idea what I ate before this place opened! We're here weekly, if not more often, and we make a point to bring visitors here, too.

I loved my burrito! The meat was tender and the shrimp juicy... Plus the guacamole was super fresh, which for me is probably the most important thing, since I've been forever in love with avocados. Very flavorful :-d If you are hungry, give this place a try. :)

My first review on Yelp! I visit San Diego on business about every 2 weeks and this is my go-to Mexican restaurant since finding it in March. I've had most of the tacos (I still can't bring myself to have lengua) and love every one of them. Free chips, salsa, and carrots are a huge bonus. The owner, Alejandro, and his mom are super friendly and they are part of the reason I always come here. It's a true family business and I'm happy to support them. Try them out the next time you're in North Park... Highly recommended!

I love their food. I've had the California burrito which is my fave and the surf and turf (the shrimp are not skimped). I am very lucky to have this place so close to me and its a great addition to the foodie corner developing on this end of North Park.

Our new favorite taco shop!! Everything we have tried has been fantastic. My favorite is the chile relleno taco. I love all their vegetarian options and my husband swears this is one of the best carne asada burritos in San Diego. So glad to have them in our hood!

This is 2 blocks from my house and I love it! The actual food gets 5 stars for sure. The only thing holding me back from an overall 5 star rating are two things. First, I would find it helpful to see descriptions of the menu items. I love that they have exotic tacos/burritos, but I would love to see a detailed description so I know what I am ordering. Second, the plates/utensils/etc are all disposable paper and plastic. Even the beans come in a little plastic bowl and it makes me sad. I assume it's because the place is too small to house a dish washing station, which I totally understand. Next time, I'm going to bring my own plate and utensils :)

Dropped in after a walk in the neighborhood. After trying the absolutely incredible shrimp burrito I firmly believe this place is a great addition to the neighborhood and that's saying a lot considering we have tacos aplenty in the hood. Amorcito Corazon is a more traditional Mexican food place and my wife agrees that with just one bite you know their food is super fresh. She had a salad and stated "I could eat this ALL DAY!" Great grub! When I mentioned to the woman at the front counter that I was initially hesitant to try the place since we have so many good Mexican places in the neighborhood, she said very genuinely "Thanks for giving us a chance." That sincere appreciation is another reason I will be back and you should be, too!

sorry guys- this just did not make the cut. Was overcharged on order at the register, had to redo...sat down to wait, five minutes later they said, oh by the way, help yourself to chips around the corner....anyway my daughter ordered a red snapper taco. Was 2 inches long and looked like a sardine....had tarter sauce on it inside of two limey tasting corn tortillas and tasted a bit fishy.. My pollo taco was just okay but do not like these tortillas and food did not taste seasoned.... The guacamole came in a plastic tub, the kind they sell at vons in tubs. Like when they send it through puree cycle in the blender...and no, was not real guacamole as we asked the lady where the tomato, onion, cilantro, etc was? She said not everyone likes it that way so they make in plain. She was nice, brought us some pico de gallo to add but it was just tasteless.can't say anything nice about this place other than the beer was really cold!!!

This place is top notch, great addition to the area. Free chips and salsa, HUGE burritos, perfect fish tacos (try the red snapper). Real authentic flavours included with the classic favorites. Plus, it doesn't mention this on their menu but the asada fries have curly fries! What a delicious surprise!

I just went to this place for the first time, and their vegetarian selections are excellent. I had an epic soyrizo y papas burrito, and their salsa were good too. Great pickled carrots and onions. The tortilla around the burrito was soft and thick and chewy. Plus the lady who owns it was really nice and helpful. Just a heads up, their portions are huge, so if you're a light eater you might want to share.

Great addition to North Park! Nicely fills a much needed niche; inexpensive, top quality, tasty Mexican food. The place is small, only a few tables inside but it looks like they will have outdoor seating. I ordered two tacos, grilled fish and a pollo asada, and my husband got the surf and turf burrito. Both huge portions. I couldn't finish my tacos. The proteins were all cooked perfectly. My fish taco had lots of bell peppers, onions and cabbage. My husband said the quality of the carne and shrimp were outstanding. Love that they offer free chips and salsa. They even provide paper bags for takeout customers to grab chips. We will definitely become regulars.

Finally!! A delicious Mexican food restaurant in North Park (that doesn't sell just tacos). Husband and I tried it last night and loved it. I got the Del Mar Surf and Turf burrito that had carne Asada and shrimp and it was amazing. It was huge, tons of shrimp, great guac and so flavorful. Husband had tacos that were stuffed with tons of meat and loved them. Very reasonably priced and free chips and salsa?! We're most def. coming back!

I visited for the first time today and ordered a Verde pork burrito. It was huge and delicious. Shredded pork, melted cheese, beans and rice with a little sour cream- pretty standard, but the verde sauce made it great. They have Mexican Coke and help yourself free chips and salsa. Very friendly staff and good recommendations for menu. Covered patio and air-conditioning inside. A clean modern/mexican designed interior. They even had a clean baby high chair! So happy to have another good Mexican restaurant in North Park. We will definitely come here again. Oh, and I saw an application for a liquor license on the window...

This place is delicious and friendly. They have a few less common options (my favorite was the mole taco) as well as the standard fare. The tacos are delicious. You get chips and salsa free. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant is bright and cheerful. Their patio is nice.

Happy to add yet another 5 star review for this awesome new neighborhood restaurant! We went there for dinner two nights ago and we're going back for lunch today, it's that good. The huitlacoche taco, soyrizo taco, and refried beans were fantastic. Great (free) chips, salsa, and spicy carrots, too. Hubs raved about the fried snapper taco. Tacos are big (two are plenty) and this place doesn't feel like a rip-off, like some other nearby taco places do. Great food, great service.

Absolutely delicious. A must-go. Giant burritos. Fresh fish. And classics like tongue (which was perfect!!). One of my new favorites by far.

Delicious food. Fast service. Good prices. Not pretentious - feels a bit more authentic than some other taco shops that recently opened nearby. Definitely recommend it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
