GOTTTT DAMMNNNNNNN I was on way to my friend to do some hard manual labor and dreading it. My friend called and told me to get some food so we can strengthen ourselves before work. I was driving and decided to yelp that shit up (yes while i'm driving cuz im gangsta like that). Lord Jesus (and Yelp) hooked it up cuz this place popped up. Good reviews so i came in and ordered some togos. The guy at the register recommended the chicken and steak combo. i said alright, make it twice! He was pretty nice, even offered me water while i wait. I said nah... cuz i was NOT thirsty like a lot of these fools out here. After 4 minutes and 23 something seconds, my food came out. I took it to my car and drove off (in the wrong direction so i had to bust a U...illegally too). The food smell so good I decided to open the top box and try a piece. Dont judge...! The steak was so tender and juicy looking, i decided to try it first. It was so GOOD, too GOOD that i wish someone was in the car with me so i can slap them across the face. It was THAT GOOD! it was so GOOOOOOD that i ate all the steak from the top box. Arrived at my homie's house still hungry so i told that fool i just ordered him the chicken plate only.

Where to begin....To make it short....ordered 3 double beef plates no veggies and shrimp tempura. I asked if they could put veggies for one of those plates on the side. After much awkwardness and long pauses at the speaker I went up to the window and asked the guy if it was really so hard to put the veggies for one of the plates on the side. He said yes it was, because of communication issues with the cook. WTF? I spent $30 and saved u money by not taking any veggies on at least two plate which ended up being 3 in the end. I just could not wrap my head around it. Also he gave us no temupra sauce. Weird, awkward.....just Strange! last visit, wont be back. I Teriyaki is much better.

I can't say anything bad about this place. The staff is very friendly, the food is always consistent and great, the price is fair. From what all the other Yelpers say, it doesn't look like much from the outside. There are often times when I HAVE TO HAVE RICE! (Filipino here!) so when I need my ulam (main dish of a meal; tagalog) and rice, this place is clutch. A big plus is the drive-in. (Seriously, what Asian restaurant has a drive-in?) Yeah come eat here. Yas. Another big plus is that it's a LOCAL BUSINESS! I'm all about supporting your local business. Come here and give it a try!

Seriously, such a hidden gem! My husband discovered this little place working on this side of town and we now make a trip from Citrus Heights when we're craving Teriyaki! Quick service, great big plates, and the food is ALWAYS hot, fresh and so good! Duy ("yee") is so friendly and knows his customers well! It's family owned; we like to stick to mom & pop shops, and this is why!

Glad I finally decided to try this place! PROS: FOOD: I tried the beef and chicken combo, which cost $6.99 and well worth the price! The chicken was well marinated, moist, and perfectly grilled. The beef was thinly sliced and also cooked well. The to-go tray is a little deceiving; it doesn't have any food spacers, which is good because it allows rice to line the whole bottom of the tray while not wasting space. The whole thing is a very hearty serving! CUSTOMER SERVICE: The employee who helped me was incredibly friendly and even complimented me on my car. When I asked for a little more time he was pleasant and didn't sound annoyed like other places I've been to. DRIVE THRU: I mean come on this teriyaki place has a drive thru! Not many smaller mom and pop shops have a drive thru so this is a huge plus when you're feeling too lazy to get out of your pjs. CONS: HOURS: I wish I could go to this place 24/7 lol. They close at 7pm on Saturday and close on Sundays. Oh well, I understand, it's probably a family owned business that might actually enjoy spending time with their family. CONSENSUS: I am stoked I found this place! The price is super good, the food is high quality and tasty, and the customer service is good! I will definitely spend more of my money here!

Have been a fan of this Teriyaki Chicken Express since 1997 when we first moved to the Sacramento area! Used to get just the teriyaki chicken bowls but now always go with the Double Chicken (#5, not the combo) and share. The chicken is always grilled great, tender and juicy, never dry. The teriyaki sauce is what really makes it special -- love drowning the chicken and sticky rice in that sweet stuff. The veggies that come with are also steamed well, not mushy, still has a crunch/firm bite to them too. Parking is a challenge but I prefer walking in my order than drive-thru. Great deal. Closed Sundays.

This is the best teriyaki place around, flavor its so good and they in good portions!

Service was really good and the folks behind the counter could not of been friendlier. The food came out really fast and it looked fantastic. I ordered the double chicken plate and it met expectations and the price was phenomenal. (6.99 and I couldn't finish it all) I would suggest that you give this place a go. I will definitely be going back on my next trip to Sacramento.

Crying. Because of how good the food is here. The best part? You wouldn't know from the outside that this spot will show your stomach mad love. Not hidden, but not flashy. This family ran restaurant is my go-to-spot for a quick and delicious meal. I think what gets me is that they serve the food fast enough for me to not have to wait that long, but not too fast where I feel like it's fast food. You can tell they cook the food (probably with love), when you take your first bite. It's warm, luscious, zesty, and filling all in one. The chicken teriyaki is the go-to order here for me, and I think for everyone else as well. Look at the pictures that were uploaded! That's exactly what you'll get! A mini mountain of food with some fresh veggies to balance it out, all on top of a filling portion of white rice. What's chicken without rice. *sighs from happiness* Lowkey though, the sweet and sour chicken is da real MVP.

AHHH-MAYY-ZING! Not only do i love their rice bowls, udons, chicken chow mein, etc., I really love the service! The workers are hard working and totally give off that home-cooked lovin' vibe.:) I notice they have a handful of "usuals" and the workers always remember the returning customers! Great price for the portion they give! Be prepared to leave super full! But i also love coming here for take out as well. They prepare the food super quickly so you never have to worry about waiting in long lines.

When you have a business named "Teriyaki Chicken Express", you feel somewhat skeptical of how good the food might actually be. And if it weren't for the respectable amount of 4-5 star reviews that I read on this place, I would not even think twice of going here. Considering they are one of many Chinese fast food places, I didn't even know what to expect. Located in the heart of the Rosemont neighborhood of Sacramento directly on Kiefer Blvd., "Teriyaki Chicken Express" was fairly easy to find. I came here with my lovely lady, Claudia H. on a Tuesday evening (around 6:30pm) after a long days work. One thing we both noticed when pulling into the parking lot was the flavorful aromatic smells of the chicken grilling from the restaurant. This was already a good sign! Another neat feature is that they actually offer a drive-thru window in case you don't feel like getting out of your car. However, we both decided to dine-in as our house is at least a 20-minute drive away. Once entering, we noticed there was only one other customer dining in. However, the drive-thru line snaked around the building as I sense the majority of customers use this to their advantage. Once walking up to the counter, a very nice gentleman greeted us, asked if we have dined there before, and recommended some of their specialty combo meals. We were both treated very well as their customer service was definitely two thumbs up in my book. After narrowing down a few different selections, I finally settled with the #21 combo, none other than their popular "Chicken Teriyaki" meal (for $6.79). This combo includes a side of veggies, steamed rice, & an egg roll. My lady ordered their "Chicken Udon Bowl" (for $6.49). The bowl itself includes the traditional thick udon noodles, chicken, and various vegetables. Total price after our meals and drinks came to around $15.00, not bad for a dinner for two. One thing that definitely was a wow factor is the speediness of the food. In fact, both of our meals came out in around three minutes! No wonder why they offer a drive-thru! After using several sauces (Teriyaki sauce and Sriracha) to sweeten and spice up my meal, I finally indulge in my first bite. The seasonings of the chicken are very flavorful and decent. Each bite got the job done as I was satisfied, at least the chicken part of it. The vegetables were forgettable and served no purpose. However, I did like the egg roll that was presented with the meal. I also tried some of my lady's udon bowl. This was decent but I'd only have to give it 3-stars in my book as there just wasn't enough chicken to justify it being a great bowl. For the price what you pay for, you definitely get your moneys worth. I've had much better Teriyaki chicken in my time that offers much more in terms of flavor and quantity. But if you're looking a place that has excellent service while receiving your food in a quick and timely manner that won't burn a hole in your wallet, then "Teriyaki Chicken Express" just might be for you!

I hate to give such bad reviews, but the teriyaki combo chicken & pork left so much to be desired. The one upside was that the chicken was cooked fairly well and still had some tenderness in it. The pork on the other hand was dry and bland. What killed the entire dish was the atrocious "teriyaki sauce" that came with it - so gummy that it basically tasted like straight water, corn starch and sugar with barely a hint of salt. I ended up using my own hot sauce to give the dish flavor. The staff here are great and I certainly appreciated their friendliness and service. I just can't recommend the food to anyone...better teriyaki can be had just about anywhere else. A complete waste of money.

I first tried this place about a week ago on lunch.... Ive been back maybe 3x's since. Really good!! A must try!

  • Ricky L.

Hands down the best teriyaki chicken rice combo I've ever tasted in my life. The quantity and quality is definitely worth every penny that is spent. Not only do they serve rice bowls, they have a variety of other things like udon, chicken chow mein, garlic chicken.. Etc. the list could go on for days. I've tried at least one of everything on their menu and trust me when I say that it has never disappointed me! Great customer service with the different employees that I have seen there over the years. Always able to maintain great relations with their returning customers.

I have been her about 3 times for lunch and they never disappoint! Food is always fresh hot and delicious!!!!!

I have been eating here for about 9 years now. It's fast and it's good. My favorite is the chicken, I almost always get double chicken. Today I got pork and chicken, and it reinforced that the best thing they have is the chicken. Price has gone up a couple of dollars, which is a bummer, but it's pretty easy to stretch an order of double chicken out to 2 meals.

Puuuuurfection. I stopped by this hidden gem on the way to South Lake Tahoe with a group of friends, and i have never been more pleasantly surprised. I walked through these doors expecting a knockoff version of Panda Express, instead, I got a slap of mom's cooking. I say slap here because, I swear, this restaurant knew my expectations walking in, and chuckled at the notion of refuting them. I know many of my friends were impressed with the teriyaki chicken, but I have to recommend the garlic chicken. The garlic chicken is the secret menu item that they don't want you know about otherwise the store's name wouldn't make any sense!! It was absolutely cooked to perfection. Zesty, tangy, lathered in sauce, but still maintained it's crunchy integrity, and guess what it's the same price (but with most dishes running you 7 dollars... what wouldn't be a steal here)!! I have to give a huge shout out to the sweet, kind, aproned, spatula-wielding cooker-of-love. She conjured the closest thing to a mother's feast I could find in this greater sacramento area. The outer decor can be quite deceiving, but if you haven't given this place a try, you will be glad you did so. I have definitely stashed this place as one of the "secret spots" to pull out out and brag to my friends if I am ever in the area again.

Absolutely convenient fast and fresh. Looks small from outside but definitely cozy inside. Easy to order and I always go back for more. Good portions!!!

So good makes me wanna slap yo' mama. Always gets the chicken and beef combo and never dissatisfied. I'm a plain Jane kind of guy but all about flavor. No fancy plates or recipes just great clean taste. You get all that here.

This place is delicious! I thought this place only had teriyaki I plates, but they actually have udon and other things. Don't let the faded signs fool you. It's delicious. They even have a drive thru. Give it a try! :)

best teriyaki ever this place hands down takes them other places out of the competition. love everything chicken, pork, beef, and my favorite korean shortribs....hmmmmmm. short ribs. but really for 6.99 you get a huge tray with like a bed of rice, steamed veggies in the middle and two portions of chicken or ect . feels like 5 lbs of food! i could never finish it. and it always tastes fresh . they havent disappointed me ever . great place come down and try it out owners are excellent.

    (5)
  • Hector A.

Absolutely love the food here. Customer service couldn't be better. I'll even go as far as to say they don't treat you like a customer, they treat you like friends and family. The portions and price are better than one would expect.

  • Charles H.

Really great place. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and they always take care of you. Hard working group of people. The food is also fantastic. Really solid value for your dollar.

  • R T.

The chicken teriyaki is a favorite for my entire family, especially my kids. We've also had the pork, but prefer the chicken. The egg rolls are also very good. The place is rarely busy & the staff is always friendly. It's the perfect place to pick up dinner when you want something quick and yummy!

Really tasty food, beautifully presented. Fresh vegetables with freshly cooked meats. Very friendly too. Dont be fooled by the basic decor, it's a winner.

  • Seamus L.

Easily the best teriyaki I've had. And super reasonable too! I found myself coming in every other day cause I can't get enough! If you're looking for great food this is definitely the place to go. The staff is hands down the nicest too!!!

  • Winston W.

3.5 Stars Overall Service : 5.0 very friendly and fast Food: Teriyaki Chicken 4.0 , Teriyaki Beef 3.0 The chicken was better than average/slightly over-cooked, good char. The beef was a little dry because the cut was lean. Prefer fattier cut/better flavor. Pricing & Portions : pretty cheap + pretty big = pretty good.

  • Brianna N.

A TRIED AND TRUE PICK EVERYTIME! I've been going here since a pre-teen and they have managed to stay consistent. Introduced it to the Mr. & he can't get enough. Everything on the menu is worth eating, but my favorite is the Chicken Teriyaki and the Yakitori. The rice is the perfect consistency, the veggies are steamed to perfection, and unlike most Teriyaki spots - they don't give you the nasty overdressed bean sprout salad and the even nastier undressed garden salad! Keepin' it simple is their game plan, and I must say "They are winning!" Not to mention, their ever so convenient drive-thru. Best idea ever! Especially with kids in tow. And affordable, indeed. This is the standing ovation of Rosemont ( because there isn't much else around), so on your lunch break or in a pinch for dinner, stop in. The staff are friendly and quick. Never had cold food or terrible service. EVER! Only downside, like most great places, is it isn't open on Sundays (I believe).

    (4)
  • A V.

I've noticed in the first months of 2015, the portion of steamed rice is less than before although prices increased ~7% last year. Today the rice portion is the smallest it's been and I'd estimate 50% of what it has been years before. A 1/2" layer of rice under the meat and veggies! Not enough for the abundance of meat/veggies provided. Not enough rice to satisfy my need for starch!

    (4)
  • Theresa H.

I always go thru the drive-thru. They are always fast- they have the BEST Teriyaki chicken. I've been going there for years and recommend the place to people all the time.

    (5)
  • Nancy K.

Their Udon is so good and simple, You got the greens, meat and noodles, Just flavor it right with the condiments. I always mix my Chicken Udon with Shrimp, Best on a cold day, the prices are great! They have a drive through and the portions are wonderful, Every time my Sister and Me eat here it's always a good environment and the Cashiers are always nice! The other Teriyaki dishes are good too. I'm probably here like once our twice a month on my lunch breaks hehe!

Best teriyaki in town. Their sauce is absolutely amazing and a great family owned restaurant with the kindest staff. A must go if your craving teriyaki or chow mien!

Friendly service, huge portions, legit chicken. What more could you want from a chicken teriyaki place?

    (5)
  • Jeremiah E.

This place doesn't look like much but you have to try what they are name for Teriyaki Chicken. Order their number 5 (Chicken Teriyaki) and you can not go wrong. The size of one order is more than enough to feed a big foodie like me. Have not tried anything else I'm stuck on this Chicken Teriyaki. With the order you get rice, chicken, vegetable, and teriyaki sauce. The staff is very friendly and will remember you every time you go there. This was my second time going there. I was wearing a wrestling gear from like 15 years ago, it's amazing I still could fit in to that after all these years. So I walk guy behind the counter points at me and asked if I used to wrestle? I answer yes then he said I know what you want. CHICKEN TERIYAKI. He knew what I wanted.

I got a plate of house chow mien & the meat on the stick (sorry forgot name) i loved! Their teriyaki glaze its sooo yummy they're chow mien has really thick noodles got two shrimps in it had a good taste but was a bit bland had to add the teriyaki sauce to get some flavor overall was really good though great portions for price will definitely return also very convenient that they have a drive thru

    (4)
  • Eddie C.

Always Delish, fast and fresh I would recommend the beef or chicken plates.. The smell as you drive by is the best asset

    (5)
  • Steve M.

YUM! I am really full, and there are leftovers. What makes it even better is that this place is in our neighborhood. Feeling extra lazy? No worries, they have a drive thru. They offer a nice variety of dishes and use good quality meats. The egg rolls are so good. The best part is everything is very fairly priced, especially considering the quality. So full, but can't stop eating!

    (5)
  • Cheska D.

Good food.... nice server... love their chix and beef teriyaki bowl...vegatables cook so fresh and everything just taste good.

  • Brenda B.

omg I'm so full. I am so excited that I found this place! this place truely deserves 5 stars. the service and food are both excellent. the exterior is a bit sketch given the surrounding neighborhood, but not to worry, you don't even have to get out of the car to get your food, they have drive thru!! it took less then five minutes from ordering to driving away from window , very fast service and the gentlemen helping me out was so friendly and attentive ! I ordered off the picture menu they had . it was easy to order , but the picture on the menu does not do the food justice . anyway i ordered the chicken teriyaki plate and it was hella good and such a value . the chicken was grilled fresh and was warm when I got home. I loved the fact that they put the teriyaki sauce in a little cup so that I can control how much sauce i use. the rice was well made , the steamed veggies were great and not over cooked !! everything tasted the way it should. . I seriously did not expect such quality from this place!!!! I'm happy to say that yelp lead me here tonight and hopefully more will follow . love small businesses like this that care about their craft and their customers ! winner winner !

  • Marina I.

I love this place! I've been coming for years. The portions are great, my go-to's are the chicken teriyaki (obviously) and the garlic chicken. I could eat their eggrolls all day, and they're always fresh. This place also has delicious teriyaki sauce; one of my favorites, thick and sweet. If anything you should try them simply because they're the friendliest people, and a great local small business. Jose works the counter a lot and he's always the sweetest. Also, their bowls/china are really cute; not super important, but you know they care about presentation as well as taste!

    (5)
  • Tatyana R.

They have the best customer service and the food tastes awesome! Chicken teriyaki and egg rolls yummy!! They also have the best sauce!!

  • Ovalerie O.

I do not eat most Asian food because I don't like fish/ shrimp etc. I'm more of a Mexican/Italian food lover. I however absolutely LLOOOVVEEEE their food. The chicken/beef combo plate is to die for. Most of all its not heavy on your stomach. And the teriyaki sauce is like heaven. You get a lot if food for your money also.....try them, you will love it.

  • Paul F.

Great food, great service. The staff here is always very friendly and goes the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. The food here never disappoints, it is delicious and very reasonably priced. I love going through the drive through for the convenience and find myself stopping by this place a few times a month on my way home from work.

  • Brandon L.

Best teriyaki chicken in the area hands down. Don't judge a book by it's cover. The building looks old on the outside but the food in the inside is GREAT! The prices for the food is reasonable and the customer service is 5 stars. Besides teriyaki chicken they have noodles and soups if you want something else. Most of the time I get the number 21 which is the chicken teriyaki combo. It comes with a drink, egg roll, mixed vegetables, rice, and teriyaki chicken of course for only about $7 - $8! The portions are huge too. You can probably save half and eat it another time but I just can't stop eating and I end up eating the whole thing. What I like about this place is they don't cover the meat and rice with teriyaki sauce. I hate it when places cover the food with teriyaki sauce because the rice gets soaked up it and ruins the meal. But don't worry they have extra sauce if you need it along with hot mustard and sweet and sour if you like those. This place has a few tables inside if you decided to eat in but if you are in a hurry they have a drive thru! AWESOME!

  • Marvin G.

Good food. Great service. I am an avid teriyaki bowl eater. Reminds me of eating in japan. I highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to have the Japanese experience. The chicken was tender and was hard to put down. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Great friendly service and the food is great when u are in the mood for some teriyaki. The noodles in the chow mein are super thick and taste great. One of the best teriyaki places I been to

Fast, friendly, and great value. Double chicken which is enough to fill up a hungry man or women. You can opt for more veggies and less rice if your looking at rice carb intake.

I love this place I am a plumber and I go out of my way to go here. Around 10$ a meal. Yee ur the man .

I work nearby and have been here several times. This place a a staple for people I work with! These people are fast, consistent, and super friendly. Great prices, too. They even have a drive through!

  • Clayton B.

i have lived in the area for 2 years and have just just tried this place... um boy was i missing out. the chicken is delish and with the double chicken meal you get lots. it is so moist . you also can sit on your ass in a drive thru while they do everything. and yes i stole that from another review. the egg rolls are so tasty and fresh.

    (5)
  • Don M.

I ordered four plates from his place, the portions were good, the chow mein is egg noodles very large and not the real deal Ive been look for in Sacramento, The food was very tasty I must admit, So here is the PROBLEM its a teriyaki joint. There teriyaki is some thick goo, and if you ask for sweet and sour the charge you 25 cents per little cup. The TERIYAKI should be fresh but its a terrible slim that sits out for hours pre poured in little cups I'm sure come from the previous day. So they get a 6 out of 10 from me, Again the chicken and pork was very well prepared.

    (2)
  • Katie S.

This place is great. Price is so reasonable. I used to go to i love teriyaki but i moved right by this place and i realized how much better it is!!! and the eggrolls are good too! They have pictures of all the food on the drive in menu which is super smart in my opinion. more places should have pics of their food.

  • Joe R.

Saw this place when working in the area. When lunch time came around decided to give it a try. I only get 30 minutes for lunch so the speedy service was awesome the staff is very friendly. The teriyaki chicken was cooked perfectly, not too dry, not over cooked. It had a nice char to it as well. The price is average for teriyaki plus the combo meals are just the right amount of food. Can't wait until work puts me in this area around lunch time again, definitely coming back for more!

  • Anthony C.

Good chicken Teriyaki! If you dine in, the table settings are pretty cool, loved the bowls! Older building but still clean and fresh, new paint. Love everything I've tried so far!

  • DeAndre B.

If I could add more than 5 stars I would!!! I work right around the corner from TCE, and I went in thinking that the food was going to be okay from the looks of the outside, man was I wrong. Right from the start I was greeted from the guy that works there, surprisingly he does both take orders at the front and does drive-thru and keeps his cool! The food excellent - I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken plate (go figure) and an extra egg roll - now if you go to an Asian fast food place and they can make a good egg roll, then everything else is golden! It's a family owned place - so it's very welcoming! If you haven't tried this joint - DO SO! I am a regular here now, so you'll probably see me there.lol

  • Aly S.

Great food, though their teriyaki sauce is a little slimy. I love that you can get steamed vegetables with your meal.

    (4)
  • Christopher B.

This restaurant is by far the best place to get teriyaki chicken in the Rosemont area. I have been to others, but none of them compare to this. Their heaping plates of meat, vegetables and rice are extraordinarily fresh and delicious. Also, they are fairly cheap for the amount of food you receive in return. Furthermore, this family run establishment has some of the nicest and friendliest employees I have ever met. Whether dining in or just passing through, I would strongly suggest you give them a try!

    (5)
  • S L.

Meat is always overcooked and dry. I can take dry chicken since meat is pre-cooked for drive-by customers. But can't take burnt meat which contains cancer causing chemicals. I don't want perfectly cooked meat from the grill and don't mind a bit of the black stuff but I had lots of burnt portion in my chicken three times in a row and found it too excessive. So, I had to tell the young guy at the counter to not overcook meat or at least carve out burnt portions. Not only he doesn't listen but also takes it personal and gets pissed off. Very unprofessional customer service. He doesn't seem to care since their business is running fine now or he might be just an employee and wants his owner business to go bad. Who knows. They rather chose to blame a customer rather than improving the quality control of the kitchen. His excuse is he has a good business now and they don't mind losing a customer. And they just lost a customer.

Love this place. They're extremely friendly, and they have good food. The Teriyaki Chicken/Beef combo is the best imo.

I started eating here last year. We were considering a new teriyaki place to order chicken teriyaki for our school luau. So of course I had to do a "taste test." After agreeing with my co-worker that it was good we needed to find out if they offered party trays. We needed to order for 400 possibly. So I came in and taked to the owner's son, who was a really good guy. He offered a great deal and since we ordered 7 party trays they gave me an additional percentage off. Needless to say our event was a hit and we sold out on our teriyaki plates. Since then whenever I need a quick teriyaki fix I go thru their drive thru order the teriyaki side and cook my own steamed rice at home. Even in the drive thru they offer friendly customer service.

Great experience. Quick excellent Teriyaki. I'll definitely be back, easily better than most places around the area. I don't imagine you can go wrong here.

I like it here. Go here every so often for lunch. Food are delicious and pricing are amazing. How can you beat lunch under $7 that actually fills you up? If you're on a rush, I recommend calling ahead because it takes a little time for them to prepare your food. About 15-20 minutes depending on how busy they are. Surprisingly, they have a drive-through. It's a cool concept, but it's a 5-10 minutes wait minimum. All in all, good food and great price. Can't go wrong.

I love this place. Great food. I normally go through the drive-thru but I have been in-side a few times. I have always received excellent service.

Love you, TCE! I used to live less than a mile away from Teriyaki Chicken Express a...really long time ago and my family would get teriyaki and the sweet and sour chicken regularly. Several years ago, I went back and it was the exact same as I remembered it. So far 2011 has been the strongest year in our relationship. I always get the teriyaki chicken (#21) and it is a heaping portion of sticky white rice, loaded with a generous portion of grilled chicken, with a sizeable serving of perfectly steamed broccoli/cabbage/sliced carrot on the side. Also, comes with one of their spring rolls (which is always crispy and exceptionally savory) and a drink. Done. If your order is through the drive/to go, they make sure to load the bag with sauces and knot it at the top. We love to go through the drive and bring it home, but eating in is also pleasant. The chicken always has a great grill flavor. In all the years I have been visiting, there has never once been any issue with my order. Even now that I am playing the picky customer role and requesting half rice, extra vegetables. Everyone is nice, friendly and accomodating. PS. The sweet and sour chicken is a real treat! It isn't coated in the sauce, you dunk yourself. PSS. They close early-ish (7 or 8pm), and are completely closed on Sundays. Guess how many times that has ruined my day.

This place is on point. Food is considerably better than other more expensive options. What really stands out is the awesome service. They are just so nice here! We go here at least once a week because we always know we can expect amazing Teryaki and friendly service.

Great food, cheap prices, and large portions! My absolute favorite dish is the Double Teriyaki Chicken plate! Other must-tries: Korean BBQ, Beef Teriyaki, Yakitori, and Shrimp Tempura.

Love this spot, I'm new to the area and I think I am a regular here already! Whenever me and my friends need to decide where to eat, this is usually the place we come to.

OH EM GEE!!! Where have you been all my life Teriyaki Chicken Express? This place obviously has changed owners since the last time I went there (over 5 years ago), however, the circa 1982 decor has not. I ordered the garlic chicken (which came out on some fancy schmancy brakeable bowl) and it was ROCK-IN'!!! The breading was crispy, chicken tender & juicy, the sauce was garlicy with a tinge of spiciness. I passed on the rice and had extra veggies which were cooked to perfection! Can't wait to go back.

Love this place! I've been coming here for years. My mom would buy chicken bowls for the family and it was always our favorite meal. The portions are good sized and the price is great for what you get. Everything is always very fresh and hot! Not only are the rice bowls amazing, but their chow mien and egg rolls are delicious as well.

this place is the spot. i always either get the yakitori chicken (chicken skewers) or just regular grilled chicken. sauce is always on the side, which i love cuz i can control how much i dole out on each bite. you get one cup of teriyaki sauce per order. each additional cup is 25 cents. they give you a huge portion of white rice. its the good, sticky stuff too. and some veggies on the side, broccoli, cabbage, and carrots. i always get only broccoli. not a fan of steamed cabbage and carrots. they have a drive thru so you can sit on your fat ass while they do everything. drive thru does take 5-10 minutes tho cuz theyre making it fresh. the workers are nice. seems like a mostly family run operation. prices are good. lots of food for $5-$6 a plate.

This review is strictly for their double chicken and nothing else. It is simply the best. I love their thick and gooey teriyaki sauce. Of course, I add sriracha with everything I eat. The drive thru is on the slow side, which is understandable because they grill the chicken. They do accept atm but you pay a fee for it.

I haven't been reviewing lately but I got some pretty horrible service here, so thought I'd log in to warn people. I've been here a total of 3 times...the third was today and I wasn't able to get the food I wanted, instead I got a lady who slammed the window at the drive thru. The first time I came here I was super excited that we have a chinese food drive thru in the area and I was planning on becoming a regular. I ordered chow mein with sweet and sour chicken and a drink. The total was under 11 bucks, which is not cheap compared to their rice meals which come with a drink and are like half the price. The second time I came here I decided to save some money and order the same thing without a drink. The lady somehow totaled it out to be 15 dollars and I told her why is it 15 when it was 10 with a drink last time? she was completely confused. She had to call her son out to handle the situation because I don't understand her broken English/mumbling thing that she has going on. It turns out that when I ordered chow mein she said "chicken or shrimp" instead of admitting that there is REGULAR chow mein and that's what I wanted. So we came to that conclusion with her son after about 5 minutes and that brought the total down to under 9 dollars. I finally came back today after about a month since the last visit. I thought I'd had it all figured out. I'd just say REGULAR chow mein. So I drive up and order, I say chow mein with sweet and sour chicken. Again she asks "chicken or shrimp" I say no I want the regular...she starts mumbling something about rice, and tells me to pull up to the window. I pull up and she's like do u want that seperate or together. I said I'm not sure what you are asking I just want those two things the total was under 9 dollars last time. She walks back to the kitchen and tells them something, so I thought we got that all figured out. But no. Again she starts mumbling about rice and I tell her I just want chow mein and sweet and sour chicken and that the total was under 9 dollars. In the meantime, her translating son left the building. She says ok....so I think she finally after these few minutes of hassle finally comprehends. But nope...she rings whatever she thinks I ordered up and tells me my total is over 11 dollars. I try to explain one more time but nothing. I finally tell her I'm just gonna go and she says "ok" and slams the window. And no I didn't cuss her out, didn't raise my voice, nothing. I was a calm customer who wanted some food. I wasted my time and gas money to drive out there and this was the service that I get. So disappointing and wouldn't recommend this place. Afterwards I just decided to drive to Panda Express, which has way better food anyways :)

I enjoy going here pretty regularly. The bowls are good, there are plenty of options and the price isn't too steep. The eggrolls that come with the combos ain't too shabby either. I especially like that they have a drive thru because sometimes you just don't want to get out if the car when you're getting food to go. The portions are ample, sometimes too ample, I get home and have to cut up the generous chicken portions occasionally. I also like the teriyaki sauce because its thick, something that you don't always get at other places. The only minor complaints I can think of are minor mistakes. Sometimes food can take awhile if there's several orders at once, the staff isn't huge. Plus minor things like asking for extra sauce and not getting it. One time I got the wrong kind of tempura, but mistakes like that are far and few between and have not detoured me from going there one bit.

We walked in to sit down for lunch and the place was empty. We hoped that meant our meal would be quick. 6 cars in and out of the drive-thru and almost 20 minutes later we finally got our food. I had the #24 (chicken/beef combo). The portions were good but it lacked flavor. Even once it was drenched in teriyaki sauce there was still no flavor. Plus, the beef was very fatty. I will stick with I Love Teriyaki. At least they get your meal to you in less than 5 minutes and have great flavor all for the same price.

I had the Yakitori combo and my girlfriend had the teriyaki chicken/rice combo. The good thing about this place is that it's cheap...but the food isn't very good. My yakitori was stale and I spent a lot of time chewing...the teriyaki sauce was terrible too - it seemed like they just combined soy sauce, water, sugar, and corn starch to make their sauce. The food was just plain flavorless. I guess I won't be going here again...

This little run-down looking restaurant has good food at a decent price. It's a great alternative to fast food--it even has a drive-thru (granted it takes a couple of minutes to get your food since they cook it after you order). I drove by the place a million times and finally decided to try it one day because I needed a quick meal during my lunch break and I was sick of fast food. My favorite is the #26 meal (2 skewers of chicken yakitori, rice, veggies, egg roll, and a drink)--all for under $6. My boyfriend always gets the double teriyaki chicken meal. Both taste good and are actually two meals in one--we can never eat more than half in one sitting. Sometimes there are coupons in the Pennysaver, so look out for them! Even without coupons, this place has great prices. The only down side is the place has that grimey look to it and the workers don't speak perfect English (though that's never been a problem). I definitely recommend this place for a quick, cheap meal.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
