Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

food here is not bad. its good (depending on what you get) but its not great. been here twice. first time: me: ordered shrimp pasta: sauce was light, not to heavy, pasta was thick. 5 stars friend 1: liguine with clams: waay too much salt. needed more pasta to compensate. friend 2: salmon- good, 4 stars 2nd time: me: same thing: shrimp pasta; 5 stars. this dish is made consistently good. bf: spagehtti meatballs: good, alittle on the salty side. but not tooo bad. 3.5 stars overall good, but next time if i order something else, i would now say, less on the salt please. :) food: 3-5 stars depending on what you get. ambiance: nice romantic, good for date or any occasion really.

I've been meaning to write a review of this neighborhood staple for years, because it's just a really well-run restaurant with very decent food, a nice little bar, well-chosen wine list and terrific service. Probably because it's really close to home, this has become the default place for celebratory dinners with my kids on occasions like birthdays and Father's Day. My son took me there yesterday, Father's day, in fact. I love spaghetti, and at Piatti I pretty much always get the simplest bowl of pasta with marinara, carbonara or other red sauce, a meatball or two when available and the thinnest pasta they have on hand. This time, it was something called Bucatini, which is pork & ricotta meatballs braised in tomato sauce with Parmesan. I ordered it ala carte for $10.50, substituting whatever the pasta was with a thin linguini pasta. What a bargain. It was mouth-watering, very tasty. I also had a couple of glasses of the '07 Bonterra Zinfandel, which at $8 was the most affordable Zin on the menu and a very pleasant surprise, delicious and perfect for the dish. Service was excellent. The hostess backs up the waiters with practiced ease. Just a very nice meal and a highly recommended place to have it. I know we will go back again and again as we have for years.

March 23, 2013 - private room reserved for 50th birthday celebration. My wife and I have eaten at Piatti's several times since the new remodel and have thoroughly enjoyed both the ambiance, food, and service each time. It was with the past experiences that we decided to have Piatti's host my 50th birthday celebration. From the moment we spoke to Special Events Coordinator, Davina, we were both impressed with her food suggestions and the recommendations she had to keep us within our budget. We reserved the private room, and to our surprise was offered the adjoining room (at no cost) as there was no other function during our occasion. What impressed both my wife and I were the attention to detail the staff, Tiffany and Aaron, showed our guests. From the beginning of our event to the conclusion, there was never an empty glass, nor an empty stomach. The Caesar salad, the rigatoni and meatballs, the 3 types of pizzas (margherita, fennel sausage, and the keeper - the prosciutto/basil with lemon cream sauce pizza), and the tiramisou and cookies were all fabulous. Each course was served with enough time to allow our friends to mingle and enjoy each amazing plate. We never felt rushed. In fact, we stayed longer than our contract allowed! We still hear from our friends how fantastic my birthday celebration was. We look forward to eating at Piatti's again soon and would not hesitate to recommend the establishment

Last night 4 friends and I decided to go to the new Piatti for dinner. We decided to sit outside on their beautiful patio. It was so nice we were blown away. It is the perfect place to eat on these warm Sacramento nights. We had a round of cocktails that were fantastic. The Basil berry martini and Manhatten were to die for. Then we had the Mussels that were perfectly cooked. Yumm! Then the entrees.. wow where do I start....the scallops were the best I ever had, the salmon was perfectly cooked, the half Chicken was so delicious it should have been illegal. We also shared the fettuccini with prawns in a saffron broth...it was perfect. I have no idea why this restaurant has any negative reviews. The service was spot on. Wonderful night ! Thanks so much Piatti Sacramento! We will be telling all our friends.

This place is a nice venue in the Pavilions in Sacramento which is a ritzy shopping center. They have a great outdoor patio for groups which I would highly recommend in booking for any small party or outing you are planning. The wait staff is very professional and the menu is always changing and updating itself with the season. Their brushetta is so fresh and seasoned perfectly and their canneloni and ravioli are some of my favs here. Some of the dishes are a little overpriced for the amount of food you get, but the decor and environment and service you get here will surely make up for that!

Entering Piatti is rather like stepping into an upper middle class vortex. Passing by the upmarket shops of Pavilions and steering around many expensive yet tasteful vehicles, you enter Piatti, a serviceable simulation of an authentic Italian "bistro" with real "flavor." Alas, it is just that: a simulation of a soulful regional Italian restaurant that fails to deliver. On our visit, Piatti was inundated with chattering, well dressed Upper Middle Class People, mouthing off in a Sophisticated Fashion about various wine blends and foreign vacations and god knows what, pretending to understand what the cute Italian phrases on the menu meant. Middle aged and botoxed Ladies Who Dinner picked at steaks and horselaughed. The dining room itself was dark - too dark - the main light source coming from the admittedly impressive woodburning stoves that graced the open kitchen. Our giggly server handed us menus. Piatti, being a curious hologram of an actual Italian restaurant, reflects this in the menu: wood burning everything juxtaposed with trendy-in-the-90's ingredients like lemon peel and pomegranate and polenta fries, you know the game. You've got pizzas, you've got salads, you've got meaty entrees, and you also have your rather lucrative order-seperately sides. Bam! (says Emeril.) Piatti is known in the Sacramento area for the garlic, balsamic and olive oil dipping sauce that comes with the bread basket, although I believe this was only interesting and exciting circa 1994 (how embarrassing, Sacramento!) Since I am not exactly a bread whore, I took a polite bite. It tasted like bread dipped in olive oil and vinegar. We began with the strati($7.95), which was described as a layered dish of grilled eggplant, roasted peppers, and goat cheese.....in other words, a throwback to the dread and outdated custom of Really Goddamn Tall Food. How'd it taste? Since tall is not a flavor, it tasted...fine, although I detected a curiously flat Chef Boyardesque flavor that I was not loving, although the goat cheese did add a decent tangy kick to matters. The flatbreads were pedestrian and there were too many of them - how many carbs does one meal need? My dad moved on to the zuppa di zucca ($5.95), a creamy butternut squash soup with toasted pepitas. This came out in a scarily huge bowl, but was tasty enough, with a dense creamy flavor and a good crunch from the pepita seeds. Still, it was incredibly rich - for the good of the public, maybe they should try serving it in a cup instead of a pail. Maybe. Entrees anyone? I had the salmone ($22.50) (god, enough with the Italian), which was composed of seared Loch Duarte Salmon and Brussels sprouts with fennel and preserved lemon - I substituted the braised savoy spinach with lemon for the potatoes. The main theme of the dish, unfortunately, was profuse quantities of salt: the fish was only a little overcooked but had a salt crust that made it less enjoyable then it could have been. The idea of the roast brussels sprouts was good, but they too were slightly overcooked, rendering them a bit more chewy then I would have liked. The spinach was good, but let's be honest: tasty spinach really isn't what gets asses in seats at restaurants. My mom had the linguine with manila clams and chili flakes ($16.95), which also fell victim to the Dreaded Salt Curse - she said this made the pasta pretty difficult to eat, and I agreed. The clams were tasty enough, but she reported they had some grit. Messing up dental work: not cool, guys. My dad went with the caesar salad ($7.95), but asked that they substitute the salmon for the prawns ($12.95). Our server did explain that she wasn't sure if the menu could do that, or if they would charge him the full 22.50 price for the salmon filet - but she ran back and said they could do it. We discovered on the check later that they did end up charging the full 22 bucks for the salmon, although apparently they comped the 7.95 for the salad itself. Wish they'd explained that a little more clearly. The salad was lemony and a decent rendition of the old standby, although his salmon also had Salt Disease. Dessert menus arrived without prompting, but since we were highly oversalted as was, we passed. Verdict? Piatti is a pretty considerable disappointment, a mediocre Italian chain venture doing its damndest to simulate a honest regional Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, it both fails in providing decent food and overcharges in the process, which is really a bit inexcusable. Seriously, you can do better, and you won't have to listen to squawking ladies-who-lunch in the process either. (pics of aforementioned food at my blog at teenagechowhound.blogspo… )

We got there at around 6:30 and promptly got seated. We chose to sit next to the window by the kitchen. As I was browsing my menu, I look up at the kitchen (not really sure what I was looking for...probably just people (chef) watching), and I see one of the chefs (wearing bandana in the picture I posted) SPIT onto the kitchen floor. Now, granted that it wasn't food, but still, how inhygienic Is that?? So we order our food and started off with the Gamberi, which is probably the best dish we had tonight. It then takes AT LEAST 45 minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered the Linguine and the boyfriend ordered the Osso Buco. The Linguine is supposed to be Linguine with Manila Clams in White Wine sauce. Let me tell you, there is no "sauce" to this white wine sauce, it tasted like white wine. I couldn't tasted ANYTHING but white wine-drenched linguine, no flavor at all, just alcohol. I then tried the Osso Buco, it was ok, but WAY better than my Linguine. The Crispy Saffron Risotto that came on the side of the Osso Buco is delicious!! :) So I requested to switch my pasta to another dish. I ended up getting the skirt steak (which took another 45 minutes to arrive). It was ok, it was tender and juicy, but still a bit bland. Then came dessert time. We ordered our dessert SOON after the arrival of my steak. We ordered the Cioccolata (which, once again, took longer it needs to arrive). The dessert was ok, I would've preferred more gelato (which wasn't real gelato...it's more like regular ice cream). The chocolate cake was WAY TOO RICH to only be accompanied by a tiny scoop of mint chip ice cream/gelato. Here's their rating: SPIT: -4 pts Gamberi: 4 pts Osso Buco: 3 pts (mostly for te risotto part) Linguine: 0 pts Skirt steak: 2 pts Cioccolata: 2 pts Service: 2 pts 1.29 pts average Needless to say, we will not be going back to this place.

It's been awhile since I've been here, but have had food for take out many times. It's okay and pretty consistent with quality, but it's just not my favorite.. Although I think most Italian spots are a rip off, I may be a bit too harsh and biased. Staff here are totally nice though that's a plus.

I had one bad experience at Piatti and yelped it and the GM sent me a message to come back in, it took me 6 months but I am glad I did, everything was perfect and now I can go back again happily!!

I went here with my boyfriend one evening after a nice relaxing day. This place was a little dark inside but the decor was nice and modern. The food portions are a little smaller than normal. However, I have a small appetite so this worked well for me. The price was also a little on the expensive side. So it is can be a little disappointing. If you want to try this place out I suggest coming during happy hour. You will get more for your money.

Pizzas are TINY and dingy! Came here for lunch with my girlfriend on Monday. We don't usually dine at corporate restaurants but she wanted to try this one. The restaurant is pretty good sized with many tables and booths and atrium seating and patio seating. We sat out in the atrium which was very nice because it was a nice day outside. We were thirsty and our server brought us a bottle of water and poured it for us and left the bottle with us so we could refill our water ourselves which was nice. Appetizer: Thinly sliced Kobe Beef Carpaccio $9.50 First time I've had carpaccio. It is served raw with arugula and shaved parmesan on top. My girlfriend didn't particularly care for it, she's more picky with red meat esp. raw meat. I thought it was alright. The meat was very tender but this dish isn't for everyone. I'm sure I would enjoy this dish at a better restaurant. Then we split a $11.50 Margharita pizza. When the pizza arrived we were so shocked at how small the pizza was. I was expecting a large, thin crust, really gourmet pizza, loaded with basil. Instead we got this WEAK ASS kid's sized pizza with like four shredded basil on it. We had to ask for more basil to put on the pizza and when the server brought us more basil, we only got like several shredded leaves, cheapskate! It looked small, lame and pathetic. I've definitely had way better Margharita pizza at other places. I was sorely disappoitned with the portion and presentation of the pizza. I would NEVER GO BACK.

Good Salty dogs... Their nectarine bruschetta was probably the most tasty appetizer ive ever had... And if course the tagliatelle here is a must eat
(4)Carl S.
Well that was an enjoyable meal. First time at the restaurant and we put faith in our servers recommendations. She was knowledgable of the menu and took the time to pleasantly explain some of the items. Bruschetta with squash and honey, who knew it would be so tasty. The rigatoni with pork went very well with the Barbera. We'll be back.

I came here with a bunch of friends and their children on Sunday Family Spaghetti (and meatballs) night. For every adult that orders the spaghetti, their child eats free. This was a super good deal and an overall great time. I mistakenly questioned about how much pasta we were given because I thought there wasn't going to be enough for all of us, but I admit I was wrong as there was more than enough and we even had left overs. Oh and you also get gelato for dessert. It truly was a really fun experience. If you haven't tried this and you have kids, you really should. On a side note, their meatballs are so good!
(5)Deborah S.
Service was great, pork chop lacked flavor, will try again
(4)Garrett H.
Even upon entering, I had nothing less than amazing service. Our waiter Will was not only knowledgable, but also very attentive and paired our courses with our wines impeccably. I would recommend to anyone to make sure to experience the classic elegance of this restaurant.

Awesome place!

I've been here a few times but it's not somewhere I frequent as it's a little out of my price range. The first time I came here was for my brother's rehearsal dinner a few years ago. The food was good, I believe the price wasn't too bad, and we had our own little section off to the side of the restaurant where we were free to make a ruckus (which we may have as we had a bunch of rowdy drunk Englishmen with us). I came here again about a year ago for several family birthdays and the waiter was exceptionally hospitable and the food was top notch. I was slighty disappointed though as I seem to remember them having different desserts the first time I came and these no longer existed. The third and final time I came was for a Christmas lunch with my boss and coworker. We all ordered the same amazing delicious meal and paired it with a glass of wine. Fun was had by all. What I especially like about this place is that they serve quality food but don't give too much of it. All too often, people are concerned with portion sizes and rate a place based on how much food they get. You DON'T need that much food to fill your stomach! This place gives you just enough that you can finish your plate but not so little as that you are still hungry!
(4)Rosie D.
A good Italian Restaurant...the appetizers are a lot better than the entrees. What I hate about the restaurant is that it takes forever to get your food. I have dined at the restaurant when there was only two table occupied and it still took 30 mins or more to get the appetizers, and another 15 to 20 minutes to get your entree.

First time at this location. I had been to the Roseville Piatti a long while back. The hubby and I enjoyed a romantic evening her last night. Food was great. The waiter had suggested a couple things which tried and they great. We'll be back!
(5)Patrick B.
What more can be said? Well, over the years I have been dining here, I have noticed that the kitchen always has a good chef in command and the waiters arrive at the table with an attitude of confidence and strong recommendations on the wine list (which means the tab can shoot up pretty fast). Its a pretty good place for a meal, which is why the crowds keep coming.

I think Piatti has gotten a bad rap recently and this is no longer correct. While I did hear that there were some issues after their renovation, please know that this seems to be resolved. I went with my wife and 2 couples and we had a fantastic experience and meal. The service was quick, knowledgeable, and attentive. The decor was nice but relaxed. While we sat indoors, there is ample outdoor seating. The food was timely, fresh, and delicious. We had the opportunity to meet the chef (Lance) who has a lot of energy and believes wholeheartedly in fresh/local ingredients. The meatballs and carpaccio appetizers were fantastic! The housemade mozzarella is some of the best I have ever had. The seafood stew, pasta, and NY strip were well seasoned, creative, delicious, fresh, and well thought out. Even the desserts were great! While we brought our own wine, we did try a few of the cocktails and kudos again. For any of those in doubt, try it again and see for yourselves. I would go back in a heartbeat.
(4)Ruben S.
The service was great and the food was best in town... Really I have no idea how this place could be rated 3.5 star, as that is not right. We started with Manhattans, the best every and then we ordered two wonderful appetizer, Finally the finale', wife had Risotto and I had the spaghetti and meat balls. Simple but the best I have ever had. The service was EXCELLENT and the price was very reasonable. The atmosphere was romantic, clean with live music. We eat out over 100x a year and would count this seriously as one of the best places in town. If there is any down side, I think true Italian dishes could be expanded to include some of the usual favorites like Cannelloni, Lasagna.... but what is on the list is also excellent and is not just Italian, for those who want a steak or pork chop. Have not had those items yet, but am going back very soon as i ate so much I could not even order desert and we love to share a desert....

Prior to the remodel- I would have given 5 stars- my husband and I frequented Piatti's at least twice a month for the ambiance, food, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays, they had unbeatable wine specials. We personally thought the restuarant was perfect prior to the remodel and unsure why the remodel and change in chef was necessary. We have been back once since the reopening and was very disappointed. First the hostess location is not welcoming, the whole ambiance is not welcoming, the high top tables bring more of a hip young 30's vibe rather than the previous booths brought a classy, cozy vibe. Only saving grace was the lemon ravioli is still on the menu but we were not offered fresh parmesean like before. The waiters seem to lack experience and seemed very green. The pronti salad is no longer on the menu which was sad. The seating is not well organized and uncomfortable. All in all, the restaurant now carries a very cold vibe rather than the rich atmosphere it had before. The special touches it had before are no longer, the waiter stations are way too out in the open and located in poor spots. We are not sure if the restaurant still offers the wine specials on certain nights but I think the place is now trying to cater to the young 30 crowd rather than the neighborhood atmosphere of 40 and 50 year olds. We will give it one more try since this was our go-to restaurant whenever we went out. I hope the second time around is better than one star.
(1)Sharon D.
The four of had dinner last night and I just love this neighborhood location and ambience. I give that a "10" however my husband's short ribs were not as tender and moist as they should have been, and the apple crisp gallette was truly the worst dessert I have had in a long time. The apples were hard as a rock and cold and wasn't jucy or apple like at all with no flaky crust. NOTE TO CHEF: Take this off the dessert list and perfect this!! Not even close to edible. My prawn caesar was ok, I wished the prawns were bigger and warmer. They came out a little cold. I want this restaurant to thrive as its so convenient!! The drinks are great and also a GREAT happy hour.

Nice spot for Happy Hour during warm weather. We like to come hear the live music on the patio and order their Happy Hour Wine. Their food is ok, rather expensive so if we do get a nibble it may just be their Pizza Margherita or the calamari to share. Normally the service is ok, but recently they really disappointed us so we have not been back. We were REGULARS at this place and have literally spent hundreds of dollars there, as we always bring big groups in and have our Happy Hours there. This is what happened. They will always require a credit card to open a tab which is a standard request. no problem, right?. My friend and I went there one afternoon recently, about a month ago for a quick glass of wine or two. She gave them her credit card and the bartender accidentally gave her card away to someone else who left the restaurant with it. He charged a bunch of food on her card by accident(apparently this other customer had the same type of credit card so the cards got mixed up). She had to cancel her card, call all of her merchants who automatically bill her on this card, wait for a new card to come in the mail..huge pain in the ass. She even had to go back into the place the next day because charges were showing up on her bill, and the same bartender ARGUED with her saying "I took it off, I took it off." Worst part? Piatti did NOTHING more than just say "oops, sorry about that." They didn't give her anything, no credit for next time. They should have comped our bill...know how much it was? $30. That was all, $30 and they could have comped it and they would have come out still looking professional and we probably would have gone back! Very disappointing!

I had the pannini and salad. It was good but didn't knock my socks off. My friend had the salad, which was not delivered as specified, so she had to send it back. Overall - Fair. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. Very quiet - at least for lunch. I would eat here again, but I wouldn't walk a mile for it.

This was the second year in a row that our local professional organization held it's Holiday Party at Piatti's. Over 60 people attended through the evening and each was delighted with the attention, service, and food! We had two servers assigned to our party - Tiffany and Shaun who simply did an outstanding job. I worked with the Special Events Coordinator - Davina Spraggins-Ricci both years - she took my suggestions from the first year and made sure this year was absolutely perfect. My top nod to the Chef and staff - thank you all for making our party such a success! Only suggestion is Valet!

Wow, wow, wow...and I don't mean that in a good way. Came here with a group of 16 with reservations made literally weeks in advance. Seated at 4 separate tables...three tables were eating before orders were even taken at our table. I sat down at 6:30 and was finally served my food at 7:55. Small portion of pasta bolognese with side salad. Not only did it take an hour and a half but the noodles were crunchy. Not al dente...crunchy. Mgr comped desserts but I won't go back. Several other service mistakes at our table with a snotty food server. There are so many great restaurants in Sacramento; spend your money elsewhere.

My husband and I dined here last week and had a great time. We have never been before so I don't know much about the space prior to their remodel but the restaurant was warm and inviting. We were greeted promptly and sat right away. We started with the meatballs and a margarita pizza. Impressing me with the basics is hard to do since most places get it wrong but these dishes were delightful! Seasoned well and balanced flavors. We shared the squash ravioli and the crispy skin chicken. Both were a hit. I would have liked more filling in the ravioli but that's just personal preference. The glassware and silverware were polished and clean, staff was attentive and knowledgable but not overbearing. Management does keep a watchful eye on the staff and we felt very well looked after. Maybe they will open in napa soon so we don't have to commute to enjoy a dinner like this again.
(4)Whitney C.
Beautiful restaurant but ridiculously overpriced, simple dishes. I ordered a Prosciutto Panini with a side salad for lunch today. It was a fried ham and cheese sandwich, no veggies, no grill, and bread doused in butter. Side salad was three pieces of whole leaf green lettuce with some shaved red onion and DRENCHED in oil. It was $11! When I asked the waiter why the ham wasn't prosciutto, he said, "We call it Prosciutto but the description says artisan ham." I know prosciutto is artisan, cured ham! It doesn't look like this cold cut deli slice of normal ham. Sorely disappointed. I used to like this place but it's not worth it and I won't go back.

4-Star rating for a low key, middle-aged birthday celebration. Highlight: Definitely the service. So, I was looking for a place to take my dad to dinner - a belated birthday celebration - just me and him. Somewhere not too loud (so we could talk and catch up), not too adventurous (because Dad's palate doesn't roll that way, and it's his day), and sufficiently upscale (to assure him that I am an adult and capable of taking him out, and so he'd feel comfortable - per the previous comment). Piatti, while not generally my kind of place, was perfect in every way for this evening. We ordered mixed green salads, and glasses of wine - he also had a steak and I had a shrimp pasta dish. The food was in the solidy "Good" category, but nothing exceptional. The bread was very good, as was it's dipping sauce. The desserts were also solidly good, but nothing exceptional (he got the affogato and I got the cioccolata). But the service was superb. I made the reservation in person, and explained to the hostess that it was for me dad's birthday. She walked me around the restaurant to pick the exact table I wanted, and then offered to print a menu with a special birthday message on top. So, it was their standard menu, but across the top was a simple clip art picture of balloons and a personalized message. Those menus were on the table when we arrived for dinner - and my Dad was surprised and felt special. He's a guy's guy - so it was a simple, caring gesture, that also didn't make him feel embarassed. The server and hostess both wished him a happy birthday, and the service throughout the meal was attentive and warm. Without asking, the waitress brought out his dessert with a cnadle in it, but minus any obnoxious singing. When I got the bill, I found that his dessert had been complimentary - she also hadn't mentioned this. It was really nice and unexpected. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely inside (outside is a little weird, since it's part of the shopping center). All in all, a great parent dinner experience. It's a little pricey for what it is, but not too bad - we got out for under $100 with 3 courses (including an expensive steak) and wine. Again, not my choice of places - in fact, nothing in 95864 is ever in my choice of places - but totally perfect for this sort of occassion. And the service was top notch and not snotty.

Their happy hour has revived my good feelings toward this place! Sit out in the pretty atrium if you can, it's covered and has ceiling fans, but is still an open air area where you can enjoy the nice weather without having the sun be too much. Friendly service. Good food. Wood fired pizzas are a meal in themselves, and at $7 a pop, they're a tasty deal too. The fritto misto was also yummy, but a tad on the salty side. I wish they had a better draft selection, but their list of specialty cocktails is enticing. Maybe I'll try one of those next time.

I recently hosted a baby shower luncheon for my daughter in the private diningroom. Davina the event planner was very helpful, accomodating my request to provide my own desert and wine. The customized menus were a nice, personal touch. On the day of the event the room was set up and ready to go before our arrival and our server Laura attended to every need. I highly recommend this location for a special event - thanks Piatti!

I'm used to having to drive to Yountville or San Francisco for a dining experience worth spending money on, but now that I've discovered Piatti, I can finally recommend a Sacramento restaurant. I had dinner here with a friend for the first time last week, and from start to finish the food, service, and atmosphere were some of the best I've had anywhere. I've found that a restaurant's specialty cocktails are usually a good litmus test for what the rest of the fare will be like: if they're mediocre, I don't have high expectations for my food; if they're good, the food is generally trustworthy. Or maybe I just like to drink and that's the excuse I use to begin my meals with a cocktail... but I digress. Anyway, I started out with the Thyme Flies (like an Aviation with thyme) and my friend had the English Major (an apple-flavored Old Fashioned). They were exactly what I look for in a cocktail: flavorful and complex, with just the right amount of booziness. Our waiter, Will, gave us outstanding service. Even though it was a busy Friday night, we felt like we had his undivided attention. All of his recommendations were spot on, from the meatball appetizer to the affogato we had for dessert, and the wines he paired with each of our courses were unexpected but brilliant. I especially enjoyed the grenache with the butternut squash raviolo - I wouldn't have thought to put the two together, but they complemented one another perfectly. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back.... next time I'm going to try the crispy skin chicken.

Date night with the hubby led me to this little gem tucked in the corner of the Pavillions. The interior design is welcoming and well thought out. We sat on the patio listening to live Jazz while being misted on a warm summer evening. The music was great the servers were very nice and the food was outstanding. We had the cheese platter for starters.. I had a shrimp and pasta dish and my husband had the salmon. Both were super tasty. We shared the almond bread with wine soaked figs for desert. Paitti's gets a 4 star rating because although the server was very nice, we were forgotten 3 times in our short stay there. We were also served someone else's meal and had to wait even longer for our meal to arrive. Of course they apologized for the inconvenience but I still feel the quantity of oversights deserved a removal of 1 star. We had a great evening regardless. I would give and overall grade of a B+

If bland food is your preference, eat here. Complimentary poor service to boot. Evidently the front of the house hasn't been trained in the art of engaging the customers at critical points in the dining experience. As We waited and waited and waited and...waited, I couldn't help but think how sad for a restaurant to have descended to such depths, especially one that had been started by Donna and Giovanni Scala, who's restaurant Bistro Don Giovanni maintains the epitome of four star service.

Went here for our 16th wedding anniversary. Our food was delicious. Our service was outstanding - we tipped our waiter 30% and left him with the knowledge that his table service was the best experience in my 20 years in the business. How's that for a review?

I have only been to Piatti a handful of times, but, I must say, I have never left here being disappointed. Today, I went for lunch. We were seated immediatly, and, after ordering food, I would say it took about 10 minutes for it to arrive at the table. My ravioli was scrumptious....however, I ordered the lunch size and I found myself still hungry after polishing off my plate. My date had the Bucatini. He was willing to part with one meatball which I devoured and it was amazing. At the end of the meal, the waitress gave us a list of their Happy Hour events...all of which look quite enticing (complete with Canines & Cocktails in the Courtyard on Thursdays). The restaurant itself was on the warm side, but, all in all, another great experience.

I never write reviews, but after looking at these reviews, I had to say something. I absolutely love what they've done with this place. It's beautiful, it's new, it's clean. They did away with the old, outdated surroundings and put in something that can stand the test of time. I had a great experience there, and I would hate for anyone reading reviews to think that they will be uncomfortable with "cold" surroundings, because it really is lovely. I thought the food was well-done and I didn't have to sift through a hundred menu options. The wine list was extremely well thought-out. You want for nothing with service, either, which no one has mentioned yet. Food came on time, and I always had my water filled. Good for the prices, I was very happy.

We just tried Piatti once more, since we enjoyed it so much in the past. (Thank you also to Sam S. for suggesting we give it another go.) I must admit that it was MUCH better than our previous experience. Our server was far more knowledgable (and competent), the food was still solid, and overall we were quite pleased. We were there early, having skipped lunch and starving (it was about 4:00), so the place was almost empty. I'm not sure if things would have gone south if it was later and busy, but things went smoothly enough that I doubt it. Although it's odd since this was just a renovation and not the launch of a whole new entity, I suppose we can chalk up our negative experience to growing pains. I'd still like to see a Happy Hour more reminiscent of the past, but overall we're glad to put Piatti back on our list.

Came here for a business meeting last Monday. The decor is beautiful and top notch. I had high expectations. My pasta with bolognaise sauce was cooked to perfection and I was very pleased with it. The only downside was our server. He kept us waiting quite a long time before taking our order (place barely half full) and then kept reaching across me and another guest to grab things off the table, not excusing himself and once brushed against my hair while picking up my neighbors plate. Not too cool. Otherwise, a perfectly nice place for lunch, pricey, but nice.

I haven't been to this restaurant in about 10 years. I was excited to surprise my boyfriend and go across town for a upscale, romantic dinner. From what I remembered in the past, my experience was elegant and flavorful. This time it was a huge disappointment. We waited awhile for our scantily clad hostess to greet us. Then we waited awhile for a greeting from our no where to be seen waiter. Then we waited a while and finally water and drink orders. I was really hoping to have a romantic dinner but we were so underwhelmed by the service it set a bad tone for the rest of the dinner. Once our waiter got going he was fairly prompt. We ordered the mozzarella appetizer and it was thrown together with sweet olives? There were three different types and they all tasted the same. The mozzarella was good but there was no color on the plate. How about some basil and/or tomatoes? I ordered the ravioli and it was overdone in the lemon arena, it was all I could taste. The only good thing was the toasted bread. Moving onto the entree-my boyfriend ordered the Pappadelle the noodles were overcooked and the dish looked plain not the mention the quantity. The wording on the menu seemed to over promise. I was seriously disappointed they don't keep risotto as a dinner staple especially during the fall season. For the price and service I will stick to downtown for my dining experiences.

David aka dg was awesome! Made it a great experience. Big guy, bigger personality . Would go back just for him but the food was also amazing. Tagliatelle, bucatini and paperdelle delicious!

While the grid has many great dining options, I needed some place safe out in the burbs for lunching with my mother. I was able to book a last minute res on opentable so off we went. As a general rule, I avoid chain restaurants at all costs, but the menu seemed like it would have something for both of us. Ironically, the last time I dined here was 1994 for homecoming dinner. Both meals kind of made me want to shoot myself, but more on that another time. Pavillions is always nice and festive at the holidays. My mom enjoyed feeling like a lady who lunched, so mission accomplished there. I started with a small insalada mista ($6) which was tiny and severely over-dressed. I can't figure out why they brought my mother's French onion soup with her panino as opposed to serving it when I had my salad. She had to sit there and watch me eat and then took forever when her plate came b/c she had both the sandwich and the soup to work through. Following the salad, I had the pizza margherita ($11.50), which was fine but could have used a bit more salt and time in the oven. Mom seemed to like her proscuitto cotto panino ($11 +$2 supplement for the soup). Our server was friendly, but slightly manically so. Perhaps I'm being too harsh as dealing with the holidays and the family can bring out the critic in anyone. My mother was put off by the way he carried plates while touching the top surfaces of them with his fingers. The upholstery on the banquette was also torn and needed to be replaced, otherwise the interior was as expected for an upscale chain.

Met some gfs for Happy Hour. Service was, and always is great. No complaints about the food . So what's my beef and reason for 3 star rating? Happy hour that ends at 6p? Really folks!?!! Can u throw us a bone and extend that Happy Hour to 630p-7p PUHLEASSSE??? Most working stiffs don't get off until 5/530p! Happy Hour that ends at 6p just doesn't seem right, especially in the Spring/Summer when days are longer.

Went here spontaneously. I do have to warn anyone using a verizon google maps that the directions are totally off. I have no idea why but it makes you go near the Loehmann's Plaza. When really the place is near the Kaiser clinic/ in the Pavilion Plaza. I thought the experience was great. The service was attentive and I thought the food was great. My boyfriend got the CANNELLONI (Chicken, Leek & Porcini Mushroom Cannelloni w. Fontina & Poached Garlic Sauce). I got a special menu item, It was duck with squash/leeks/mushrooms/spinach with a pomegranate sauce (I don't know the exact ingredients). It was really great and I was totally stuffed. We also got a cup of Mushroom soup and that was very earthy and delicious. The scenery is actually really romantic since we were one of the few couples dinning. I would probably come back if I wanted to through more money done for a nice romantic dinner.

Like a lot of people have suggested, Piatti is a little pricey for what you actually get. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here, but I also don't think I've ever been too impressed with any of their dishes. Good food, yes, but for the price, Piatti fails to go the extra mile. What it comes down to is good food and a really nice, intimate ambiance.

Our family took dad to brunch for Father's Day at this location. Everyone thought the brunch menu items were quite good. We also recommend some of the "non-alcohol cocktails" (Lime Ginger Julip and a couple others were great....cool, minty and perfect for a warm morning). Service was super! Ashley was attentive, personable, very knowledgeable about what was in the kitchen, and kept some elderly customers well engaged and entertained. Good job Ashley! We'll be back.

Ordered the large portion and it was tiny. Food is okay but always a hit and miss. Here are my thoughts: Venue - Different layout from the Danville location. It was pretty empty around 7 PM on a Saturday. Beverage - The Arnold Palmer was refreshing. Main Entree - I had the Tagliolini. Its homemade angel hair pasta with vegetables and a light butter sauce. It was pretty plain and almost tasted like a watered down sauce. Service - We didn't see the waitress much. She seemed to be focused on other tables which makes sense but it wasn't a great service experience. Nice benefits - Has a good outside venue for an event. They had an outdoor movie theater going. Other notes - The cioccolaa was a great dessert. It's a fancy name for chocolate cake.

"Are you ordering what I think you will order?" I ask my sister in law. "What do you think I will order?" she says. "Duh, the beef cheeks." I say "You had me at beef cheeks!" she giggles Get the beef cheeks with polenta. We went here as a party of 8 with 2 being children under 6. This is a great place for WELL behaved kids. It isn't too quiet and they provide crayons and paper for the kids. The food was great. We ordered caesar salads. My husband ordered the roasted chicken and I ordered, of course, the beef cheeks with polenta and parsley radish salad. The beef cheeks were meltingly tender and flavorful with a nice kick of horseradish. My husband enjoyed his roasted chicken. We ordered extra sides of sauteed spinach with lemon and that was delicious. For a large group, the service was attentive. Our only quirks were the espresso my brother in law received was cold and had to be sent back and my panna cotta dessert was thick and more jello like than panna cotta creamy.

Good customer service and all of the food came out on time. Their menu names are a bit confusing but the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend this place. The prices are reasonable.

What a GREAT experience !!! On Saturday August 3 there was a group of six of us who went here for dinner and listen to Vivian Lee as part of their jazz summer concert series. Of course we had reservations and upon entering the restaurant we were welcomed by the friendly hostess who promptly seated us. Our waiter Chris was simply amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and all of the food items listed on the menu. He even asked if any of us were allergic to anything, which I have never been asked that at a restaurant before. Chris was very attentive to our needs and his service was spot on. We even had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Chef Lance which made the experience even better. After meeting Lance and talking with him I have a new found appreciation of what an executive chef goes through to prepare a full menu for a upscale restaurant like Piatti. Lance's attention to detail on the appetizers, main courses and desert is second to none. Using fresh and local ingredients seems to be a specialty for him and it shows in all of the dishes he prepares. His passion for food and service showed through as he was speaking with us. If your looking for a restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere, perfect service and out of this word food, Patti's is the place to go. Keep up the incredible work Lance and Chris !!!

Don't go on Sunday morning! Arrived at eleven and were seated right away, and were then served our food an hour and a half later! And not even a peep about the delay! The Eggs Benedict were more like poached eggs, however the chicken pannini with sun dried tomatoes was fabulous. I have had good experiences here in the past. This Sunday morning they were under staffed and clueless!

My moms 75th Birthday celebration was held here. I ditto everything my sister Debra B. said. Double Plus Good to the staff.

From the previous reviews, Piatti's seems to be hit or miss. Good thing I read them after going there, I might have been discouraged from trying it and missed a marvelous meal. First off, caesar salad: the dressing was light with a definite presence of acidity which brightened up the salad considerably, but might offend the purists. I like anchovies, but usually can only take so much of the over-intense flavor. Having tasted these fresh anchovies, though, I craved more! The freshness of the halibut was kept intact by not being overdone. It didn't need the bits of sundried tomatos and especially not the olives, whose flavor was too heavyhanded for the delicate fish. (The olives by themselves were very nice.) The long-cooked broccolini tasted fine and paired well in texture to the rest of the dish, but its broken flowers looked like a mess. The pasta is house-made and cooked perfectly. I had papardelle which came with prawns and tomatoes. When you bit into the tomato, flavor just exploded in your mouth. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for the prawns which were slightly fishy and definitely overcooked. The STAR DISH at our table was the roast chicken. It was tender and flavorful. But the thing to write home about (or post on yelp) was the SPINACH. It was made from organic Savoy spinach, started with shallots and finished with butter. The flavors melded together beautifully. Service was decent; I give it 90%. Coulda been 100 if the waiter had refilled our teapot without asking. Not having a politician's pocket for truly high-end dining, I've never had a restaurant experience that was 100% satisfying from start to finish including this one. But I give Piatti's 5 stars because some of the dishes were roll-your-eyes delicious!

Ours was the winning bid at the Happy Tails Painting for Paws event for this restaurant's certificate for 2 lunch entrees. We love Italian food but usually prepare it at home as when dining out we want to try something we wouldn't usually cook at home ourselves--so having the winning bid was the perfect reason to try Piatti. I ordered the ravioli in the lemon cream sauce & my daughter ordered the chicken cannoli in a tomato sauce. Now these are not difficult items to prepare--but the sauces were very very good. In fact, the lemon cream sauce was so good I had to restrain myself from embarrassing my daughter as I was so tempted to pick the plate up & lick it clean. To drink, I ordered a ginger mint julep (non alcoholic) that was quite refreshing. The desserts of cream brulee & peach sorbet were also very good. The wait staff were friendly, the restaurant very clean (always an important factor w/me) and the food was excellent. We will definitely return.

On a Sunday we chose Piatti for a late lunch. I asked them if they had outdoor seating since it was a beautiful day in Sacramento. The person on the phone assured me yes they did have outdoor seating. They do not have outdoor seating. They have something that I would liken to a nice sun room. We were the only people seated there so the privacy was nice. We had a cute nervous waiter who admitted he was new. The food was really great though. As far as crowd goes, I would say if you want to hang with the Country Club set this place is for you!

We just hosted a birthday party attended by 65 friends and family. Davina, the event planner, was great to work with and very helpful. We needed to store flower arrangements, candy, and wine in Piatti's cold storage. Davina not only made that possible but I got all the help I needed transporting stuff from car into the restaurant. Davina helped me select 3 wonderful appetizers. For starters we had San Marzono tomato soup, carrot top pesto or local mixed greens, red grapes, fried macona almonds, saba vinaigrette, pecorino. The main dish choices were spinach-ricotta ravioli, lemon cream, gremolata, parmesan or wild greens, grilled skirt steak, onion, pepperoncini, pt. reyes blue cheese, bacon vinaigrette. My mouth still waters as I type this out. Everything was served perfectly by a wonderful team, Tiffany, Amanda & Aaron. They were very energetic and easy to work with. I've received many wonderful comments from friends and family. Thank you Davina,Tiffany, Amanda, Aaron and all the guys who did the heavy lifting for making our party a joyful event.

Okay - today is all about nostalgia and where I hung out during college. Piatti's - I was a semi regular. Service was always excellent, of course I always encountered my fav server who made sure everything was all right. I think this is where my desire for alcohol turned into an appreciation (not fanaticism) with wine. I admit, I just liked how it looked in the pretty glasses. Sue me. I like pasta so I stuck to pasta dishes, sometime off menu, because I am picky. Lobster ravioli still ranks as a fav, fettucine with sausage was also a common entree. Yes, the dipping sauce is great. Lovely way to start the meal. Garlic anyone? Ahh Piatti's - five stars worth of memories. The clientle was awesome, nice people, friendly an it's shares a lot with Borders - hello - win win. Thankfully my new neck of the woods has a Piatti's, but it isn't next to a borders.

Upscale but with a comfortable, neighborhood-bar kind of feel, Piatti is one of my favorite "eat at the bar" establishments in Sacramento. I especially like their "happy hour" menu - small but complete meals for 7 bucks every weeknight. I usually get the ribs which come with a small salad - hard to beat! Wednesday is half-priced wine day - selected bottles of wine at 50% off. Friday there is live jazz on the patio. It's all good. Friendly, competent staff - especially Cary, Kevin and Mike at the bar. Recommended.

I held a 75th birthday celebration for my Mom and 40 guests at Piatti last month, in their private dining room. It was fabulous! Catering Manager Davina Spraggins was delightful to work with, and took care of all of my special requirements for the party. The private dining room was lovely. The food was out of this world! What a great menu. Highly recommended!

We came for a birthday party so there was a limited menu to choose from. They have a small room off to the left before the hostess stand that fit 6 large tables, enough for about 50 of us. There's a giant window that looks out into the courtyard of the shopping area. There's even a small kitchen/serving area right next to the room. The whole night we had 2 servers that brought out our food and drinks. They were pretty on top of things. Anyways on to the food. We got to choose from a Caesar salad or a mushroom soup. The salad was like a plain salad and the soup was very creamy and flavorful. For the main entrée, we had a choice of fettuccine with marinara sauce, salmon over some beans or a NY steak with bread pudding and beets. I got to try a little of everything and I wasn't impressed. The steak was the best dish out of the three - moist and tender and cooked just the way you asked. It also came with two sides. The salmon was just presented over beans and the pasta was just pasta. Anyways they had a little kids menu with chicken and pizza and spaghetti. And they even got ice cream for dessert. I'm not too sure what their other dishes are like and I didn't have to pay. But it looked like a pretty upscale place with prices to match. And if their menu is anything like what we got to try, it's not worth it. I probably wouldn't make a normal trip here.

As a long-time and loyal patron of Piatti, I feel it is necessary to write this review to air my dissatisfaction with their food and service last night. We participated in their prix-fixe New Year's Eve dinner, at $49 per person. The menu looked very inviting, but when the actual dinner arrived, it was not up to par. Presentation was bland and uninteresting, service quite slow, and each dish disappointed (except desserts). This is the second time in the last two months that I have had sub-par meals at Piatti. Also, the hostess was pretty lame...when we walked out and said, "Thank you, and Happy New Year!" her response was "...no problem...". Huh? Straighten it out, Piatti! You are a neighborhood jewel, but if your food and service don't improve, there are many other restaurants that will take your place!

On May 26th, my daughter graduated from high school and we chose Piatti's for our celebration dinner - and what an exceptional choice that was! Everything was perfect - from the signage letting guests know the banquet room was for her graduation party, to the set up of the table, the personalized menu (which we had chosen a few days beforehand), the service and the food quality. Special kudos to our waitperson, Haley, who was so courteous, friendly and on top of everything! And another shout out to Special Events Coordinator Davina who made the reservation and planning process so enjoyable and seamless. I highly recommend Piatti's for anyone's special life cycle celebrations!
(5)Tricia H.
Best Italian food I've had since moving from Portland last year. Kelly was such a great server, icing on the cake. I had two drinks that were mediocre. The ravioli was very tasty. Lemony but not overpowering. It complimented the light cream sauce... maybe even enhanced it.
(4)Chris S.
Decent italian food. A little over priced. Nothing to really stood out except for the carpaccio. The server was very nice but the food was quite slow in coming out. My salad took about 20 minutes. Overall would go again if I didnt have to pay!

I've been meaning to write a review of this place for the past few months, and after reading the poor review below mine, I feel compelled to write. I've probably gone to Piatti about 4 or 5 times in the past 3 months. Each visit, I've been more than satisfied with the service. The ambiance is nice, yet relaxed, and you can feel comfortable wearing jeans or even something a little dressier. The employees have been incredibly friendly and helpful, and the manager, Greg is an incredibly nice guy as well as an absolute riot! As far as the food is concerned, It keeps getting better and better. The restaurant is in a stage of transition. They have gotten a new (and far better) chef, and I've learned through some candid conversations that the cooks are still trying to iron out some kinks and are still trying to get used to the new menu and techniques. Quality is definitely going UP here. O.k, onto the food. I cannot recommend the chicken salad on their lunch menu enough. It is a delicious combination of chicken, currants, pine nuts and gorgonzola and really is a nice balance of savory and sweet. I've also tried the Bucatini- yummy tender little meatballs made from pork and ricotta. The pork ragu is also amazing. The chef really gets to show off with his daily specials. On my last visit, I tried a garbanzo bean soup, and had pan roasted duck breast with porcini mushrooms and crispy potatoes. I was more than pleased. My son also really gets a kick out of the kids "build your own pizza." For dessert, the Zabaglione is perfection (big step for me, as normally i'm a chocolate ONLY type of girl), and i'm a huge fan of the warm chocolate cake served with gelato. As far as the poster below me is concerned, I completely disagree. The person I dined with ordered a pizza, and it was great. Is it huge? No. But these are personal pizzas, and there is more than enough for a normal person with a decent appetite. However, I can see where gluttons and cheapskates (judging from his other reviews i'm guessing he would fit in one or both of these categories) might be under impressed. Bottom line is this. Good food, good ambiance. You get what you pay for. If you are solely looking for mass quantities of cheap food, hit up Little Caesars for their $5 hot n ready pizza.
(4)Natchiq H.
Overpriced olive garden. Vaguely Italian pizza and surly, condescending service. Bucatini alone was excellent and almost made the trip worthwhile. Probably won't return.
(2)Adam B.
I have nothing to say about this place. My carpaccio was an embarrasement and the linguini with clams was only a step better. The clams were gritty and not good and the pasta lacked flavor. Definitely a bad choice and a place I would never suggest.
(2)TL L.
We celebrated my parents' 80th and 85th birthdays on 6/26/10 with a family dinner at Piatti. The private room was quiet, filled with natural light and was the perfect size for our 19 guests. We ordered from the family style group menu. Everyone agreed that the food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Aaron served us - he was friendly, attentive and professional. Best of all, working with Davina Spraggins, who is the special events coordinator, was a real pleasure. She was extremely responsive and attentive to details. I highly recommend Piatti for your next special event.
(5)Robin T.
I remember the days when Piatti was packed, filled to the brim with the Sacramento It crowd. Those days are long gone but it is still an okay place to go for a quiet dinner. The service was excellent but the food was so-so. Their "wild" mushroom bruschetta was pretty lame: oyster, portabella, and crimini mushrooms are NOT wild mushrooms. The risotto balls were delicious but I followed it up with a cup of their turkey-white bean soup... flavorless. I enjoyed the lamb shanks... falling off the bone, served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes... but my hubby was disappointed with size of his tortellini dish so he spirited away half of my lamb shanks. So given the inconsistency of the food and the relatively high price, this place only scores a 3 for me.

I cannot describe how impressed I was with the staff at this restaurant. We had our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding in their gorgeous private dining room. It couldn't have been more perfect. Davina their event planner was fantastic she made sure everything was perfect! She even had out little centerpieces for us on the tables. Davina is fantastic, she responded promptly to all questions and was willing to work with us on our budget. It was apparent that she went out of her way to make sure everything was just so. My friends and family were impressed with the quality of the food and the helpfulness of our waiter. They assigned one waiter to our room and I wish I had his name because I would love to mention him in the review. He was amazing. I was a server for a little over 3 years so I know how much work a big group of 25 people is. He was great, he made sure everyone had water and drinks and had just the right amount of attentiveness to the guests. The live jazz music on the patio only added to the wonderful night we had, after we ate a few of us hung out and did a little bit of dancing. Piatti is really close to mine and my husband's home and I know we will be frequenting this restaurant on our nights out and it will always be special to us since we had our rehearsal dinner here. If you are considering having any kind of event here or using their private dining room, stop thinking and book it! You will not be disappointed. And last but not least a big THANK YOU to Davina!

OMG! What a dining disaster. They had one in Roseville that finally closed its doors. Expensive and mediocre to say the least. Not worth the effort. Should have been closed a long time ago.
(1)Michael L.
Have been here before, for both lunches and dinners. Upscale place in a great Shopping center. Won't break the bank, but the service and food are very good. Can get a bit noisy at dinner when they are more than 3/4 full. Wine list is reasonably priced. Wait staff are pleasant, knowledgable and not a bit stuffy. I've also been to their restaurant in La Jolla, CA(Piatti) but didn't enjoy it as much as this one in Sacramento. I like their appetizers and have even gotten a white along with several appetizers and made a meal of it. Good bar and good service overall.
(4)Bill S.
For the price, it's superb. The chef knows how to roast a pepper before including it in his secret salsa, and the whole staff is game to talk food and flavor. They know wine, and they have wine to fit your budget and palette. The raters I read here do not know food, and the complaints could have been resolved with a little conversation with the wait staff. This is a restaurant waiting to please you, and if you actually know what you're doing, food-wise, you'll have a fantastic meal. BTW, a little sand in a clam means it will be more flavorful. Swallow it, already.
(5)SacBelle S.
Reasonable prices for a great atmosphere and great food! I love the chopped salad and linguine with clams. They also have great wood fired pizza. We went a couple nights when they had jazz on the patio and it was wonderful. I would recommend it for a date or special occasion or any night.

Came here on a whim for lunch as it was on my way back to the freeway. Not bad nouveau American/Italian restaurant. The olive oil and balsamic vinagrette infused with garlic was really good. Dishes were well prepared, large portions, friendly service and a easy bill...what is not to like about suburbia?!

Went here for lunch to give it a try. The restaraunt had a nice layout, and the food was fair. The crab cakes were good but small and a little overpriced. The paninis are nothing special; I can find the same at other places. One thing I have to comment on was the hard glares I was receiving from the many caucasians at the bar as if I was not welcomed; it initially made me want to turn around and go somewhere else but I wanted to give this place a try. I've had a lot better for the price.

I came here for father's day dinner and well it was just an OK dinner. We got sat down quickly because of our reservation and surprisingly not many people were here...The hostess sat us down quikly and our waiter served up some water and bread and gave us some time to look through the menu. Now I love Italian food. However, their menu had little to be impressed about. Each category maybe had 3 or 4 maybeee 5 choices to choose from...That made me hard pressed on choosing something to eat knowing that I had such little choices to go from. I finally went for lemon cheese ravioli of sorts. I'm a guy, i eat a lot, i had a feeling that ravioli wasnt gonna be enough. Lo and behold how many raviolis do i get served? a WHOPPING 6! each at about 1 square inch....lovely. Thankfully unlimited bread equals me stuffing myself with starches in between each of the 6 little bitty raviolis. yum...for the price of 13 bucks? Something I wont ever order again. Everyone else' dishes were less than extraordinary. My mother ordered the pizza which came out salty enough to turn lake tahoe into a salt lake...the pork loin my dad got was dry and my sister spaghetti was well..spaghetti. So for a bill total of almost 50 for the 4 of us for less than spectacular italian food...from a "high end" restaurant. I'll think twice to come to this particualr piattis again.

Went to Piatti last night for the first time and was looking forward to a good italian meal. Walking up to Piatti in the pavillions, with the glow of christmas lights adorning the trees and the buildings made me anticipate the meal even more. Sadly it was all trickery, upon entering I noticed that there were only a handful.. well maybe less than a handful of customers inside. This didn't dissuade me thinking that @ least we would have awesome service, I was wrong. The service was mediocre, and the salad I ordered was bland while the entree was way too salty. With more than 80% of my food still on the plate the waiter didn't even bat an eye when I told him that i didn't want it wrapped up. The one bright spot was the calamari with lemon aioli, the bread with vinegar and oil was good too. While every place and every one deserves a second chance I think ill try lunch next time(not any time soon though)

We held my daughter's UC Davis graduation party for 25 yesterday at Piatti's in the Atrium room. Everything was fantastic! Davinia, their event coordinator, was great to work with. She was right there to make sure everything was set up for us when we arrived. Our service was outstanding and the food was delicious! Our party was large but our waiter (I'm sorry I have forgotten his name) made everything go smooth as silk. The delivery of the food was perfect. Everyone was served quickly and efficiently. They did everything they could to make sure we had a wonderful party including moving three large outdoor umbrellas in the just the right spots outside to shade our eating area in the Atrium. This was a very big occasion for our family and having the party at Piatti's was the perfect choice. Great job!! Our thanks to all.....

My wife and I had other dinner plans tonight but they fell through. She was injured last week so can't easily cook and I didn't much feel inspired to. Hmm, we thought, go to Roxy. It's handy and we always enjoy it, and we've never been on a Monday. We were only looking for a good moderately priced dinner, not a Grange or Firehouse-type thing. So off we go, only to find a sign on the door that they were closed for a private party. No big deal. Some places are always closed on Mondays. We looked right and left on Fair Oaks from there and I said, "Hey, how about that Italian place at Pavillions? We haven't been there in a couple of years." So we rolled on down the side street to Piatti. It was just great! Our server, Geoffrey, was very attentive (late in the meal, I was looking about wondering where the restrooms might be and he trotted right over seeing a need), affable, and quite knowledgeable about the food, bringing to mind BA Robertson's review yesterday of the Supper Club's great food and not-so-knowing staff. My wife had the Cannelloni with chicken, leeks, and mushroom and liked it very much, preceded by a nice small Caesar salad. An earlier reviewer approvingly noted the reasonable portions and I agree with her. You don't want to finish a salad feeling too stuffed for the main course. With the idea that we would have leftovers for lunch tomorrow, she got the large portion of Cannelloni, two enchilada sized pieces, and found one quite a satisfying meal. I should mention the bread. It was quite decent in crust and chew, but the balsamic and olive oil with chopped garlic and some other bits that came with it was exquisite. It appeared skimpy but did the job. Having steak already in mind from the Roxy plan, I had the "American Kobe" skirt steak, ordered rare, and thought it was one of the best steaks I've had in quite awhile. It had some flavor of a marinade with distinct rosemary, very grill-flavored, but without any of the dry spots that are so hard to avoid in grilling, and very tender. Alongside were roasted fingerling potatoes just the way I'd hoped they'd be with a bit of crunch, and braised kale. I'm a spinach fan and the kale filled in beautifully. We had a really great time. The place was near empty, and that mysteriously often leads to poor service but not here. It was like the departed L'Image and Bravo on the same block that could provide a lovely experience despite having only five full tables. The bill came to $86, included a reliably great $34 bottle of Boeger Barbera. About Roxy's price overall. We find it most convenient to eat non-destination type fine meals along Fair Oaks between Watt and Howe and Piatti will now surely be added to the rotation of Vinoteca, Plan B, and Roxy. Leaving, we chuckled at the crowd of cars in front of Ruth's Chris, knowing they'll enjoy being called by name and pay double-triple for the privilege without having a better meal.

I have been to this restaurant many times. Love the location but, sadly, that is about it. The menu choices are very limited and without any dish that I would call inspired. I think the last trip WAS the last trip. Love the beef variety and thought I would give the "hamburger" another shot. First time was almost raw and had to be sent back to kitchen. When it came back it was burned to a crisp. Fries were stone cold not kept heated while meat recooked. Second time asked for NO PINK inside of hamburger since I am not supposed to eat red or pink meat right now due to chemo. Came back AGAIN partly raw. Gave up at this point and ate around edges. My friend had the meatballs which she loved. I looked at kitchen while our food was being prepared. My hamburger came out 5 minutes before meatballs. Was not put under lamp. So, very lukewarm. Wish this restaurant was better but ,sadly, off our list for good. Oh, and don't waste your time in mist salad. What a joke for the money. The only thing they misted was the dressing.

Located in the posh shopping center, Pavilons, Piatti is a popular restaurant to many local residents who have dined here for years. I have been coming to Piatti since I was a little girl and came here last night for the first time in a long time, and I feel that it is still the same great restaurant it was 20 years ago. The decor inside has a rustic Italian feel to it which obviously fits in with the Italian cusine. The bartenders are always great and super nice.... mixin up some strong drinks is a plus too! The waiters and waitresses are also very nice and attentive. The food is pretty good, but not great. It is not up to par with Biba, but it is definitely not a Buca de Bepo (sp) either. What I find that everyone raves about the most here is the balsamic dipping oil that includes fresh chopped garlic and red chili flakes.... it is so addicting that it pretty much filled me up lastnight and I could only get through half of my entree. Before I forget, for any vegetarian looking for a restaurant with more vegetarian options, Piatti has that selection for you, along with an extensive and impressive wine list.
