The Hamachi and Blue Fin Sashimi melts in your mouth. But equally impressive was the personal attention we received. Who said that customer service was dead. Bryan, the owner / chef likes to get to know his customers and will share a glass of saki with you. Let Chef Bryan take care of your dinner menu and you will not be disappointed. Not only was the Lobster special beautiful, but the soup was incredible. All the chefs and waiters were attentive and made recommendations. Don't forget dessert. The mochi was a great tasty treat, a perfect end to a perfect meal. I will visit again the next time I'm up from SF.

I tried the Land Park and Fantasy rolls the other night. The Fantasy was my favorite, but both were fantastic. I'm not sure if it was a common ingredient between the two rolls, but both rolls had a flavor that I have never before tasted in sushi. It was not bad at all, it just was distinctly different from any other sushi that I've had. The prices were great, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the interior was very clean. I'll definitely be going back. UPDATE: I went back. I couldn't help it. This time, we got the Lobster, Boxer, and Negihama rolls. All were delicious, but the Lobster especially stood out. There was still a unique flavor, so I'm thinking it's something about the ingredients they use, since all of their special rolls had it.

Mmmmm, tried this today with my boyfriend. Had the red tonkotsu ramen and I thought it was delicious. It wasn't salty and they gave me a spice on the side, I added it into my ramen and it was all together perfect with perfect amount of seasoning. Best ramen ever, compared to the last time I had ramen because it was way too salty, this was on point. Perfect amount of veggies and the meat was awesome! It wasn't even spicy but my boyfriend thought it had to much pepper, haha. We had the lion king and Marry, sushi is good too! Overall 4.5 stars :) Need to go back and try other ramens there heh... Oh yeah, my boyfriend knew the owner and we got a 15% off our bill!
(4)Molly P.
Love the seafood udon noodle soup and their sushi is awesome as well. Got the soup every time with other sushi items and everything is great. I've never been disappointed.
(5)Ashton C.
This place has awesome happy hour! It's not the best sushi I have ever had but they have some great deals!
(4)Kristen C.
The water tastes so bad. I love gyoza so much but theirs is dry. The bento box came with salad with no dressing and no soup even though it was advertised on the menu. Shrimp tempura did not taste right. Pork katsu had no flavor but the sauce it came with was good. Service was so slow. I think it took 15 minutes for someone to finally take my order. The waitress was nice to others but didn't seem to have time for me... Maybe because I was alone and taking up a four person table to myself but that's where they seated me. Nobody checked on me til I finally asked for the bill. Probably partly my fault for coming to a sushi restaurant and ordering everything but sushi... No, nevermind, it's not my fault. At least I checked it out while they were still offering 50% off the menu... I would have been annoyed paying full price. Unfortunately for all of you wanting to try Kyoto, the deal ends today.
(1)Cammie M.
Kyoto is our new favorite spot! We love their Pepperfin Tuna, Hamachi Kama, and spicy scallop nigiri. Their happy hour is AMAZING and the service is always great. Such a great find on Broadway!
(5)Jessica L.
I came here with my aunt last week because she's on that Sac Food page on FB. Came here again yesterday night with my other aunt and uncle. I love my order-#127 Red something. It was very flavorful. I would absolutely recommend everyone to get the #127 for ramen. And the Broadway roll we ordered was okay. I did noticed that I chewed on fish bones as I was eating the sushi. I had one piece and I spit out two chunks of bone. So that ruined the sushi for me. My aunt loved her order, the Tan-something. My uncle ordered the house special. He said it was very plain and milk-base. We got my grandma a chicken teriyaki bento box with sauce on the side, but they out the sauce with the chicken. The miso soup that came along with the bento box was very salty, and it was still salty even when we tried to dilute it with water. I think we got the bottom of the broth. The servers they have are very helpful. Although one thing I would have to say is to keep the consistency with the servers. We had a different server for sitting us down, getting our drinks, taking our order, refilling water. I had no idea who our server was and it became a problem when I ordered a to go meal for my dad because the kitchen never got it. The server who helped us packed our food was trying to help us figure out our server, but it was no help because we kept seeing a new face. We had to wait an extra 10 mins after we were done paying because they didn't get my to go order. This morning, when my dad tried to eat his ramen, it was jut soup. There was nothing besides soup. I paid $5 and waited 10 minutes for a to go soup with no ramen or meat. I even asked the server who helped us If everything was in there and she said yes. Well, there goes my review. It just went from a 3 star to a 1 star.

We ordered off the happy hour and in the middle of my meal I wanted to add a nigiri off the happy hour, but even though our meal was from the happy hour, since I didn't ask before 5PM (it was 5:02 when I asked), they wouldn't make it. 1 star extra because the fish was good.
(2)Vince W.
4 stars for happy hour but really a 3 star sushi restaurant because of its proximity to others. Roll was a little smothered, all their freshest fish they recommended or were specials they were out of. Service was nice and polite but a little bit of a wait for how many people and the end result. I'm curious to go again during happy hour because he prices seemed cheap for the region.
(3)Smelly C.
Currently in their Soft Opening phase so everything on the menu is half off. EVERYTHING! Although, they do have specials on their board at full price. Casual place with TVs. They have a sushi bar and table seating. I think some of the tables feel a bit off like the table is too high for the seat? But at another table, it's fine. The food has been good. I like that they have special things you wouldn't usually find at some places on their specials board like Abalone Sashimi. The regular menu has the usual Japanese cuisine like Donburi, Ramen, Bentos, Rolls, etc.. So far it's been good. Not the best ramen in town but it'll do. They're open to suggestions and feedback.. Service can be slow but not terrible like forgetting things or straight up neglect. And they're really nice.. They also have their own parking lot and that's always a plus.. Although, it stinks like a fish market.. Thank goodness it doesn't smell like that inside the restaurant.
(3)Tara Y.
Hidden spot on Broadway. Amazing food and amazing Happy Hour menu. :) My partner and I were both very pleased with our first experience at Kyoto.
(5)Anton V.
Great service. Really good. Nice ramen and rolls. They eve allowed us to have our small dog, since it was too hot outside.
(5)Jennifer M.
Super friendly sushi chefs and wait staff. Excellent happy hour deal prices, and overall great sushi. Very glad to have this place nearby!
(4)Will C.
In for lunch with a couple of friends - had no idea they had a lunch happy hour. $6 sushi rolls and $5.50 ramen bowls? Heck yeah! I ordered the tonkatsu ramen bowl with chasu and a spicy tuna maki roll. One of the best places to have a really good meal for less than $10. By the way, happy hour runs until 5pm during the week.
(4)J D.
Seriously good place! Went back with husband, and he loved it too! Great quality, not pretentious, a "neighborhood" place that's comfortable, casual, with high calibre food!
(4)Tiffany I.
The food tatse really good here. My boyfriend and I both got some ramen and sushi. It has great flavor amd decent servings. Service is friendly as well. Will go again to try some more things
(5)Angelique H.
Kyoto is one of my go to sushi places... I've honestly never eaten in because i work down the street so i just order to go.... Which is extremely scary with sushi... But I've never been disappointed... Strongly recommend affordable and yummy so you can't go wrong lol
(5)Anna H.
Best happy hour!!! Their bento boxes are excellent as well. They have great service and side designated parking.
(4)A A.
Happy hours are conveniently Monday through Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00 and there are a very good number of items on the menu. The other sushi places' happy hours are generally 14:30-17:30, so it's not as easy to get there at the right time. The happy hour menu is moderately sized and has a good variety of sushi rolls, hand rolls, appetizers, ramen, and bento. The fish is fresh and tastes good even though the [happy hour] prices are so low. The staff is cheerful and polite. I don't think there is a minimum charge for credit card. If you just want a small snack and want to use credit card, it's great! Update: 50¢ fee for under $10 charge, a little disappointing. The parking lot isn't big, but I have yet to run into a problem with lack of parking spaces. This is a place to keep coming to!
(5)Marcel S.
Came during happy hour and the amount of food offered for the price is outstanding. The food is also delicious and of great quality.
(5)Nicole T.
Randomly found this place on here looking for a place with great ramen AND sushi because my bf was sick and insisted on ramen but i REALLY wanted some sushi. Never heard of this place before but liked the reviews and pics. The ramn (spicy miso) was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to hide some from my bf so I could have it! I also got a 5 piece hamachi sashimi and a roll. Everything was SO FREAKIN GOOD!!!! ONLY thing that could have made it better is maybe little less price, but honestly, its a typical sushi restaurant price. $10 for 5 piece hamachi, $10 for huge bowl of ramen. Not terrible. I will definitely be back!
(4)Andrew F.
I have been here a couple times with my family and the experience has always been pleasant. The employees are attentive to their customers and the food preparation is quite fast compare to other Japanese restaurants, and in no way does the swift service affect the quality of the food. Their happy hour menu is great because there is a lot of variety, and the ramen here is really good. The restaurant gives off a very pleasant vibe and the staff is excellent. They also offer free spicy edamame while you wait, which tastes really good. I would recommend them to anyone who is in the area.
(5)Miss H.
DELICIOUS! The pieces of sashimi aren't paper thin, which I love. Prices are great, their happy hour is 11-5 mon-sat! Super attentive staff, very friendly, and clean. TRY THE DEEP FRIED ICE CREAM!!
(5)Jesse K.
This is a small Japanese restaurant located on the Broadway in Sacramento. Although it's a small business, there is plenty of indoor seating and large sushi bar seating. They have a expansive menu of a large variety of Japanese dishes. There's a huge number of different type's of ramen, plenty of rolls, sashimi, tempura, nigiri sushi, and special menu items. We ordered the 49er roll, black ramen, a couple sashimi sets and tempura. I've been to the many of the Japanese restaurants in Sacramento and found the food here to be excellent in comparison. The service was fast and accommodating, even for the large party of 15 we had arranged. The only negative about this restaurant is the small parking lot, if you plan to come with a large party I recommend car pooling.
(5)Stephanie W.
Disappointed with my first experience here. We had a party of 11 people and half were done eating before the others got their food. They also mixed up a few combination plates and re-fired it before serving so it drained all the moisture and burnt it. Maybe they do better with small parties.

Kyoto was one of my favorite cities from my Japan trip this past summer. So it was no surprise that when I drove past the restaurant, the name caught my eye and I immediately bookmarked it to try. Let me start by telling you that I'm a bit of a ramen junkie (which is why I'm a regular at Shoki I and II). However, I love that Kyoto offers a wide range of dishes besides ramen. My friend and I treated ourselves to a feast! We started with the veggie tempura (came out hot and crisp), Mt Fuji roll (shrimp tempura with spicy scallop and topped with tuna and crab ...I think ... decent but couldn't taste the scallops), sashimi (pretty big pieces of fish and the salmon was was like butter!), I had the spicy tonkatsu ramen (decent ramen noodles, came with corn, cabbage, spinach, cha siu, egg but wish the broth had more flavor and spice though), and C had the seafood udon (they had to substitute with ramen since they ran out of udon but it came with a ton of mussels, squid, and other goodies), and we topped everything off with hot sake. It was an overall great meal and I'm excited to come back more often to try out their happy hour as well as the rest of the menu.
(4)Bryan W.
If I could give zero stars I would. I'm having a hard time understanding how in a dinner party of 9, how the time between the first dinner hitting the table and the last two is literally 30 minutes. Nothing fancy on those last 2 dinners either. One was a tempura bento and the other was a grilled salmon. Worst service ever and they didn't even acknowledge the wait. For mediocre food, the service more than made it taste horrible. To the owners of this establishment, get your act together and bring your 'A' game. I'm telling everyone I know about the sub standard service.
(1)Adam W.
Tasty, Tasty, you can actually taste every ingredient in the sushi roll rather then just sauce. Kyoto and the crew as one can guess have life experience in making exceptional food. They do the little items right, and bigger items, even better. I'm there.
(4)Meghann S.
Got a fancy roll. Texture lacking, mushy, flavor bland. Fountain soda is a plus. Won't be going back.
(2)Chyresse H.
This was our first time here and we had a great meal. The food was great, the service was fast and friendly, and the wine was a generous pour. The fish was fresh with wonderful flavor. We will definitely be back.
(5)Kristine D.
Excellent service! Nice clean place. Amazing sushi! We had the 111 Salmon King and 116 The Giant. Both were amazingly delicious! The seared tuna on the giant was wonderful!
(4)Doug K.
I decided to stop in Kyoto's for lunch before going to work! There were many guests present. Very cumbersome & pleasant dinning area. I ordered combination tempura & 15 piece tuna sashimi. To my surprise, 5 minutes later, my sashimi arrived in a beautiful pattern with all the colorful timings! The tuna was very fresh with a bright red & purple shine! Very tasty! My tempura arrived minutes afterwards with the crispy battered vegetables & shrimp which was platted in a tall unique fashion! I must say they have delicious & fresh components that made my experience very charming. The service was impeccable as well! I vehemently thank the staff of Kyoto's!
(5)Kay F.
Delicious!!! We had the tonkatsu and the vegetarian ramen--both very good. By the way, they have lunch ramen for $5.50!
(4)Chris C.
Great staff, great sushi! Never a rush job on making your favorite sushi. Lobster roll is my fav!
(5)Kennie L.
Great place for sushi! The chefs are friendly and they are serious about their sushi. The best thing is the chefs are creative and you can create your own roll as well. Just have to tell the chefs what you want in the roll.
(5)Shulkies X.
Food was great!!! Since it's new we went to try out a few of their dishes.. Fresh fish and they have bomb oysters.
(5)Susie L.
This place is nice and decent size for a spot in Broadway. The staff were friendly but need to be more attentative. I went on a rainy night and it was a bit slow. I tried the house ramen and my bf had the red curry ramen. The soup was warm and it tasted okay. We order a special roll and it was very spicy. I forgot what it was called but I don't think ill order it again. Overall, this place is okay.
(3)Soua L.
Waited for 1 hour, ate, and got, what I thought was a ramen order to go, was soup when I got home.
(1)Morgan S.
This place can't get it together. They keep changing the hours for HH. When I asked the waitress why, she told me they have 3 owners that can't agree. The service is poor, the food is mediocre, after the health dept shut them down for pest infestation I'm over it! There's a much better sushi place down the street.
(1)Jake W.
Had Valentine's Day diner here tonight. Definitely would say this is hands down the best sushi in Sacramento. I love this place and will be back every time I'm in Sacramento in business!!!! Try there sushi boat amazing value also their oyster shooters are to die for.
(5)Amjad S.
This place is amazing the food, customers service 100% recommended place the prices are ridiculous cheap and friendly people. Every time I try something new I love it..... u guys check it out great place to eat.
(5)Food S.
My receipt says 'Spice Kitchen'. I am confused. I ordered the Tonkotsu and it was only OK. Service was OK but the restaurant was very clean (including the restroom). Parking was a breeze because there were only seven customers in the entire restaurant. In other words, it was dead. I might be back to try the lunch bento in the future.
(3)Hoody R.
It is very disappointing. The restaurant smells fishy, the cucumber appetizer tastes old and the fish - BBQ Mackerel- is not fresh tasting. I really like good Japanese food. Oh well.
(1)Pang M.
Came in for a birthday dinner. Our server was prompt in greeting us and getting our order, however, the wait for the food was too long. Our edamame order came after a long wait, rolls came in slowly after the large edamame bowl was almost gone. After all the rolls came, I ordered another roll which didn't come until way after this couple who came way after us got their fried foods and rolls. (I ordered my roll before they came.) Birthday girl was not happy and unfortunately the tip reflected the service. Not sure why that day was such an off day. There were 5 or 6 servers, 2 food preparers, and 4 tables. One server even had time to hang out with their friend during half our dinner and chat. Our server was munching in the front while we were waiting for our food. Food was ok, not worth the return.
(2)Lauren F.
This is the best sushi restaurant in Sacramento, hands down. To begin, the dishes are impeccable. I do not typically choose anything in particular off of the menu (aside from, of course, their chicken wings) because the chefs always come up with something better than what I would have thought of! Even their ramen is off the hook. Perhaps more importantly, the staff here is the best. They are professional, friendly, and overall, make dining here a great experience. In sum, the food is timely, well prepared, and I never walk out disappointed. If you're into it, their sake collection is one you should definitely explore.
(5)david h.
We had a very fine meal there, good service on January 6th. The sushi chef was very focused on his work, and the very clean, precise sushi we were served showed it. Their house special Ramen had many many nice surprises. These new owners deserve a visit from you! I was surprised at the special treatment the ramen ingredients had had before making it into the bowl. Nice attention to detail.
(4)Naz A.
I have nothing bad to say about this place, and I hope that never changes. The first time we came, we sat a table, and we realized we needed to eat and go kind of fast, so we moved to the sushi bar seating. The owner was one of the sushi chefs. He was super nice. We ordered some apps and saki bombs that day. Everything was delish! The customer service was exceptional. We were even given a VIP card to use for 15% off on future visits. Definitely will return - in fact, we already have!
(5)Stephanie S.
Place was pretty good to eat at. Had the white soup & red ramen soup. The BBQ pork was thick and big pieces. Other places just serve a thin slice of pork & like 3 pieces. I like how they provide a lot of meat, also inside was corn, spinach & bean spouts. Also ate the huge Lobster Roll! Quite pricey for $15 buy it was good. Would come back again.
(5)Kimberly J.
I work right across the street spent a lot of time very very nice people is always fresh I love this place if they had 10 stars I'll give it a 10
(5)Joshua C.
Decent to good food at GREAT happy hour prices. Probably not the best ramen in town - although I'm not sure where that would be (for Sac).
(4)Terry C.
Very good Sushi !
(5)Rome C.
This place was Spice Kitchen. They moved the seatings around and the menu seems to be better than before. It is actually a great place to order ramen and quite tasty. The prices are very reasonable. We plan to come here often. Also, the staff are super attentive and very nice, plus easy free parking too.
(4)Krystle C.
We have made this place our regular, weekly sushi spot. The quality of the sushi and all other foods are top notch. We can't say that we've been disappointed with anything we've tried and we've been going 4 weeks in a row now so we've tried A LOT. Because of the friendliness of all the staff and owner we feel as if we are visiting family and not just a restaurant every time we go. We can't wait for our next visit!
(5)Rory L.
This is my favorite sushi place in Sacramento. They always have a lot of interesting fish on the specials menu for sashimi or nigiri. It's a more extensive sushi menu than most places because of the exotic things you can try. They have decent rolls but the thing to go there for is the fish. And the happy hour menu, which starts at 11am. Fantastic friendly service, too.
(5)Dawn T.
I was across the street getting my car washed and decided to re-try this place again. NEW ownership!! I could feel the love in the food the sushi chief made. I had the bento box with calif roll and tuna. Awesome tasting tuna.
(5)kiana t.
pictures do no justice. this place is hands down the best sushi place in Sacramento. prices are very reasonable, you get huge rolls. No complaints here. The owner is so adorable& his hospitality makes you feel right at home. his employees are very attentive but not bothersome. I swear the fish taste so fresh, like they went and got the fish right out the ocean. Kyoto & spider roll is my favorite. Lobster roll was good, huge as hell too! :) TRY THIS PLACE OUT.
(5)Karinne P.
Oh my god, I will never eat here again. I actually got sick after eating here. Everything was bland, the sushi rice was either under cooked or not sushi rice at all. The roman bowls were flavorless and the beef in the bowl was dry. The California rolls didn't taste like any California roll I ever had. And last but not least the oysters, now I know what oysters are suppose to taste like and their oyster clearly tasted bad. If you want to eat bland food that will clean out you system ( make you use the restroom frequently) then eat here
(1)John R.
I've eaten here a number of times since they opened, and the service and selections are always spot on. They really seem to appreciate my business , and I highly recommend Kyoto to anyone interested in quality Sushi on Broadway just a few minutes from downtown
(5)Matt H.
My wife and I came in for a late night dinner last night. The food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. My wife had the Broadway roll, and I had the ramen. Both meals were very tasty and large portions. The hospitality was terrific. Yoshi educated us about sake and gave us a tour, with three samples each. He also prepared a couple of special sauces for us to try, and topped off our dinner with some plum ice cream. It was a very fun evening and I recommend giving it a try yourself.
(5)Jackie F.
Okay, so....Happy Hour is amazing. Sure....it ends early but dude....I can take advantage during my lunch hour. Deals on beer, ramen, and sushi make this girl happy. My only complaint is that it's slllllloooooowwww. I don't expect my food here to be fast food fast, but goodness, when you have plenty of state employees coming in during the lunch rush it would be nice to actually eat versus scarfing food down. Next time I'll be ready to order once I sit down....
(4)Julia D.
I needed a sushi roll and I ordered the creamy maguro roll to-go and it was fresh and delicious and just overall amazing. I really like all the pictures they have on the wall in the waiting area- makes it feel like a cozy, friendly business. Hopefully I'll eat there again soon.
(5)Micki M.
Omakase please! We asked the chef make us a small platter of his choice of nigiri and sashimi. Our request was that he omit Saba (mackerel) and Sake (salmon). It was a work of art! Chef Brian included my favorite Ankimo (monkfish liver) and mom's favorite Uni (sea urchin). The platter had a variety of fresh and delicious slices of melt in your mouth fish. It was quite impressive! I'll admit that my photo didn't display everything on the plate. Plus, the Omakase dish was delivered right on cue. No waiting around for minutes on end, waiting impatiently. Fast, precise, artistic hands that the sushi chef has here! Along with the omakase, we ordered: *Gyoza-delicious *Oysters (Kuma or Miyagi?) on the half shell -Delish *Kaki Fry (fried oysters) although small, compared to other places, it was quite tasty! *Tempura -satisfactory *OMG ROLL-fantastic Cute location, great service by our friendly male server, sorry, I didn't catch his name! He was pretty awesome, for being so young. With everything we ordered, we paid a little bit over a $100, we would've paid a lot more at other places! This was a great place to take my mom for Mother's Day!
(4)Valerie K.
Came here before, but I never reviewed! Anyways, food is reasonably priced here. Sushi averages $8-10 with generous portion sizes. Friendly staff. Our waiter wasn't the most friendly, but the owner took photos with his instant-photo camera to post of the group. Only complaint was that the food took a while and the waitress simply said it was because we got there late and ordered later...but even so we were waiting around a while since ordering. My friend got a really nice birthday dessert, which was fabulous. :) Would come back.
(4)Ronida K.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon during happy hour. Thought it would be super busy since you know, it's happy hour! But it wasn't, which is alright with us lol. Ordered the beef tataki and I have to admit, it did not look appetizing nor tasted good. We also had bento box #16 teriyaki beef and they gave a very tiny portion of beef. Like four or five slices. It was disappointing until we got our sushi rolls. Had the superstar roll, Kyoto roll, and omg roll. The superstar roll and Kyoto roll were delicious. As for the omg roll, it was ok. Afterwards we ordered dessert, vanilla mochi and tempura ice cream. We sat waiting for our tempura ice cream but never got it so we ended up leaving. Food was ok, service was ok.
(3)Tiffany D.
This sushi restaurant is located in Broadway and luckily, they have their own parking spaces for customers so parking isn't too hard to find. Upon arrival, I was seated promptly. The restaurant isn't too big so there's only one server taking care of all the tables. Service was good, it could've been a little faster. Now on to the food.. Stuffed jalapeños: deep fried battered jalapenos with some type of meat inside. I got this as an appetizer and I was pretty relieved it wasn't too spicy. I thought this plate was alright. I would probably try another appetizer next time Lamp chops: you get to choose how you want your lamp chops cooked and this had lots of flavor! It comes with a bowl of rice. I thought the rice balanced out the flavor of the lamp chops perfectly. The flavor kind of reminded me of something you would taste at a Korean bbq restaurant 49er: this roll had salmon and guac on top. I thought this roll was really good! The guac on top was creative. The panko shrimp gave it a nice crunch and had a good spice from the siracha sauce. American Dream: my boyfriend liked this roll. It has a few different types of fish on it and drizzled with lots of sauce. Salmon salad: if you like salmon and garlic, you will love this. The salmon is seared and has garlic aioli right on top. Overall impression: this place was alright. The sushi itself had lots of rice and I had to pick most of the rice out of the rolls. I felt that the sushi rice wasn't prepared properly cause I can see the rice falling apart from the sushi. However, their happy hour menu would probably convince me to come back. I would love to try their ramen and udon noodles next

My friend and I were in search of a ramen house and stumbled upon Kyoto. The interior is a bit small and has a homey-cozy feeling, imitating the Japan feel (even the toilets - check it out). The waitress was friendly and said we could seat ourselves. Service was good, our food came out in a timely manner, and occasionally asked how our food tasted. I ordered the red tonkatsu ramen and my friend had the dinner bento box with mixed tempura and sesame chicken, and we both shared the OMG roll. My ramen had a nice spicy kick to it (I love spicy foods and this wasn't too spicy) and the tonkatsu pork melted in my mouth; overall, one of the better ramen I've had in Sac. The OMG roll was a decent size, the fish was fresh and plenty, and there was a good amount of sauce (fyi in case you don't like sauce, but I thought I complimented well). The dinner bento box had huge portions. I tried a little bit of the sesame chicken; it was moist with a light batter. I would definitely recommend this place! I'm looking forward to trying the pork belly ramen next time. ;)

Went to Kyoto for the first time on Saturday 5/9/15. We had a pleasant experience. We happen to arrive at the restaurant during happy hour. Most of the rolls are at half price The rolls themselves were very tasty and you got enough pieces to fill your tummy. Service was quick and frequent I ordered 2 rolls and some appetizers which I was full. I heard from others that the Ramon noodles is great at this restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to my buddies

I had this review located at yelp.com/biz/kyoto-sushi… , but I saw this new page so I'm re-posting this review. I deleted my pictures o those will remain on the old page. Sadly just overall not happy with this place. With my plan to use my Groupon, I pull up and the name has changed! No Spice Kitchen? We walk in; quickly we are told we can email Groupon to get a refund. Ugh thanks another dam place that's closed in Sacramento before I get to use my coupon! Then we are told But everything is 50% off but drinks. Ok ok now you talking! Thinking it was Happy Hour plus a HH menu was displayed we attempted to order vino, but no no due to 50% off no HH on drinks. Ok fine but vino was $4 so it's ok. We settled on a number of items; gyoza, Pepperfin, jalapeño poppers, a fantasy roll, oysters lol and more! All the food came very timely. But sadly it was mediocre. Not all the oysters tasted great, Pepperfin ok, jalapeño poppers had fish in the mixture making them to fishy, etc etc. It all was hella cheap, but not the best or even good! Maybe within time? But I'm confused, they changed names and management again but some of the same employees. Thus they are not new to the cooking world. Also this place became packed by 5:30/6, but the customers all appeared to know the owner, must be nice. I doubt I'll be back. Let's see what others think.

At least three incarnations of Japanese restaurants at this location (that I know of), and I have never seen this place so packed! 50% off the menu until mid-September probably helps. ;-) They've reorganized the layout and added a legit sushi bar. The menu is extensive and centers around sushi, but it also has a nice ramen list, plus rice bowls and entrees. Even without 50% off, the prices are competitive, and I love that the bento boxes have multiple sashimi/nigiri options with no restrictions or extra cost. So far, so good. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Great food and portion. Walked in and was greeted and seated. Tried the lobster roll which was a very nice presentation and a good portion of seared tuna sashimi and big roll. they even drew the lobster legs and claw with siracha. 10 for presentation for a picture. 15 bucks. tried the giants roll. it was a large portion roll also. 15 bucks. tried the black tonkustu ramen. the ramen broth is a gray black color. its a black seasme seed with pork broth. the broth was very tasty. there are alot of msg or sodium in it to taste so good. the ramen was like other restaurants ramen noodles. the ramen was in a ceramic bowl. good portion size with spinach and corn and some napa cabbage and the chasu was actually bbq and tasty unlike other places cant taste the bbq in the chashu. tried the nabeyaki udon. it was also a great portion size. the udon noodles are same as other restaurants textures. the soup came in a ceramic bowl but not the ceramic bowl they use to cook in it like other places with a handle on the cermaic bowl. also heavy on sodium and msg on the broth to taste good. they had a sunny side egg on top which was a plus. also fried temp. shrimp on the side 2 pcs. which was a plus for not being soggy. the bento box for 8.95 tried the teriyaki salmon which was kind of hard and over cooked. but it was ok. the saba shioyaki didnt seem too fresh and was a bit on the fishy side. good portion size. service was good and friendly. will be back to try sushi boat soon.

I'm going to try and be as objective as I can with this review but it will be very difficult. I've spent a lot of time in Japan enjoying traditional and modern gastronomy. Ramen in Sapporo and Kyoto, sushi in Tokyo. This place used to be a Ramen place, called Hokkaido, and while they probably specialize in sushi, they do have a good selection of ramen. I ordered a Yellowtail Temaki sushi and spicy ramen. Both were decent but absolutely nothing to write home about. The service was really good and I never left with a bad impression...but now I'll cover one aspect I rarely cover in reviews....ambience. Overall, I'd say not bad, save for one epic flaw....the music selection. Yes music. After hearing Taylor Swift song five times in a row I was ready to bolt for the closest exit and leave a half eaten meal. No knock to the fans but after hearing that stuff for the umpteenth time everywhere, I'm ready to volunteer to go deaf. Seriously, c'mon. Shake it off!

Been twice to this new spot and sushi is pretty good here. Not sure if that I would solely come in for just the sushi though. Wait staff was really nice but it was a long wait to get seated and waiting for food also took a long time. I imagine it will get better once they work out the kinks. The first time I came in with my girlfriend we shared our dishes. She ordered ramen and I got chirashi. Probably wouldn't order the chirashi again but the pork belly ramen was really good! They had a really nice sear on it so it was crispy. Another surprisingly good dish: the lamb chops! The second time I came in, I was in a group of 6. We ordered 3 orders of this (the 4 chops/plate) so everyone could get two chops. They were delicious and cooked to perfection. They made it perfectly medium rare, the way I like it. Definitely coming back for it next time. :) Also, the handrolls are really big and totally worth the money.

Service is amazing ! Craving a lot of things but don't know exactly what you want to have in your roll? No problem, just ask to order your own roll! The chef and this restaurant make sure you have exactly what you want and cater to your needs. Decor is very chic and modern! Place is also very clean. Perfect place to have lunch and/or dinner. They also have happy hour! The food was great! We ordered so many rolls but I must say my favorite is the sweet maguri ! We also ordered ramen and tempura :) The serving size of the rolls is big so you def get your money's worth. In addition the pricing is relatively cheap compared to other sushi places. How better can it get? Cheap and GOOD ! Def a place to go to and I'm def coming here again!

$17 for the combo B - special roll, 5 pieces of sashimi, and 2-3 pieces of nigiri - what a deal! My boyfriend and I were very pleased with our experience. The service was attentive and our food was satisfying. We left feeling impressed and content with our dinner. My combo meal consisted of a delicious eel/Avocado roll, the salmon sashimi melted in my mouth, and the nigiri was just as tasty. For $17, you can't get this amount of sushi/sashimi anywhere else. Their menu is also extensive with 1-2 pages for special rolls and 1 page dedicated to white/red/tonkatsu/shoyu ramen. My boyfriend ordered the white tonkatsu ramen with extra chashu and noodles. The broth tasted hearty and thick but tasted somewhat bland at the same time. They do charge an additional $1-$1.50 for extra toppings. They have happy hour until 5pm Monday-Saturday with really good deals on some of their ramen and sushi. I will come back here!

The chef Brian set us up! We wanted light appetizer fare. We got alabacore nigiri, edamame pot stickers, spicy salmon sashimi with creamy spicy sauce and crunchy sesame topping! Fresh, spicy, delicious!

I absolutely love coming here for dinner. I come here multiple times for dinner and I always leave satisfied. The owners are so nice and come around the tables often. It's definitely a plus when the owners and staff always recognize us! Last night I got the Bento Box with chicken katsu, salmon sashimi, and mix tempura. I was so pleasantly surprised to find not one, but two pieces of shrimp tempura on my plate! They are very generous with the tempura they give you for their bento box. Lastly I love that my bento box also came with two pieces of California Roll! Other nights I've been here I've tried their Seafood Udon, Ramen, and various sushi rolls. All are delicious. Not to mention free small appetizers while you wait for food. Its different every time, but I've had seaweed salad or cucumbers. They don't give much, but hey, it's free :) Btw I ordered one of the chicken udon before, I forgot what it's called, but its pan fried so its not soupy like the others. I'm not complaining cause it was still delicious! Highly recommend this place!!

I came here the other night with a friend for dinner after happy hour drinks. I had never heard of or seen this place before but it was next to the bar we were at so we decided to give it a try. I assumed "Hey, it's sushi. How bad can it be right?" Disclaimer: I did not have sushi rolls only a California roll. Main entrée was a bento box. I ordered the bento box with salmon teriyaki and teriyaki chicken with a California roll. I would say the wait time was normal 10 minutes or so before our food came out. I first dove into the salad. A typical salad with dressing. It wasn't anything too fancy. The same with the California roll. Then I got into the salmon and chicken teriyaki. I think the salmon was a little over cooked and the teriyaki chicken was blah. The only good thing about the meal was a huge pile of rice I got but even eating that much rice isbt healthy. The food wasn't horrible but I didn't enjoy the meal and halfway through the meal just stopped eating. And not because I was full...I just finally realized at that moment the food was pretty crappy to honest. Will I give this place another try? Probably not. $35 total for dinner. Next time I'll go back to Arigatos. Note: They do have parking but very limited spaces. I also have to note that service was okay. Greeting upon entering and leaving.

It's hard for me to give a 5-star rating for a sushi restaurant, but this fairly new establishment definitely deserves the full stars across the board! I was looking for a new place for Ramen in Sacramento and came across this establishment through Yelp! I dragged my husband out one afternoon for lunch here and was very happy and well-satisfied with our experience. Being a salmon-lover that I am, I decided to try the OMG Roll. A delicious sushi roll wrapped with spicy tuna and fried tempura shrimp, topped with avocado, salmon, green onions and massago! We both also ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu and Black Sesame Tonktosu ramen. The OMG Roll was fantastic! Loved that the roll was not wrapped with too much rice and the fried tempura shrimp wrapped inside the roll was fried to order. (Unlike other restaurants where the shrimp is pre-fried.) The roll was overall very fresh; the salmon along with the tuna inside the roll was very good. There was just the perfect amount of sauce drizzled on top along with the green onions and masago that complimented very well with the roll. The two bowls of ramen were overall good. Both filled with ample amount of noodles and meat. I would probably prefer the Red Tonkotsu over the Black Sesame Tonkotsu because of the spiciness and I also found it to be just a tad more flavorful. Service here is fantastic. Our waitress and sushi chef was very attentive to our table. We came around the time they opened so it wasn't hard for us to find a parking spot. (There is a small lot to the right of the restaurant.) There is also street parking available as well. Loved that they have GREAT Happy Hour deals from Open-5:00pm Monday-Saturday. An array of rolls for only $6 along with other dishes and drinks at a discounted price. I would highly recommend for others to come by and try this place out! This place will not disappoint! :)

Gooooooooood! I had a very good bowl of ramen here. The flavor was great, big pieces of pork, chewy noodles and the best hard boiled egg and n years. The egg had a sweet flavor like it had been cooked in tea. It's similar to the flavor of the ones I had in Tokyo. Great job guys! I'll be back!

I have eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants in the area and so I feel like I have a good handle on what is offered locally. Kyoto far exceeded my expectations of a $6 roll for Happy Hour prices. This was a large roll with plenty of fish. Sometimes sushi places tend to offer mostly cheap rolls (ones filled with shrimp or fake crab) during Happy Hour. Or they offer "1/2 off rolls" when all they do is give you the value of a 1/2 off roll. Kyoto's $6 OMG truly looked like and tasted like a full priced roll. We had two other Happy Hour rolls at an amazing value as well. I am hoping to have slightly better service next time. I will definitely return to Kyoto and hope to update my review to 5 stars.

I've been here several times and they have never disappointed, service is quick, food is delicious and it a nice place! They have so much more than sushi but the sushi is what I come for and it is always fresh and delicious! Oh and they have a great happy hour menu!

Food: it's not bad. The ramen falls under mediocre. I ordered the spicy house special ramen. You get a good amount of meat with your Bowl of ramen. I think the meats are really flavorful, that was the best part of the ramen. My favorite was the pork. YUM! The chicken tasted like charr, so it kind of gave it a diff taste to my palette. The broth was tasty, but could definitely be enhanced. One of the waitress actually brought this hot chili oil and when I added that it definitely made my ramen taste waaaaayyyyy better! But sorry for you non-spicy eaters... It still wasn't spicy for me, but that oil added a better taste, which made my ramen become off the chain!! Btw.. When you're eating and wondering why you don't see your corn, it's at the bottom..lol.. The fried tofu was surprisingly ok, but they probably should season it once it's done frying like powder some seasoning salt or something. It was kind of plain but when I ate it, I actually liked it. The fried calamari was ok too, nothing out of the ordinary. The popcorn chicken actually had more flower than chicken itself, so ehhh on that one. Price and portions: It's kind of pricier than some ramen places. You get a decent amount for your ramen which was a plus.. I was stuffed!! The calamari was more than enough for us. I would agree you are paying for what you get. Service: We got seated right away, it wasn't busy when we first arrived, then it started to pick up when we were leaving. They were friendly. Refilled our waters often, it's nice not to have to ask. There was a dead still moment after we ordered our food they didn't come back and we had to waive to get attention because our last friend joined us after we already ordered and it took a little while before someone came to take her order. That part sucked I would say, but over all after we got our food they were super attentive (I think our waitress was just helping get our ramen orders ready for us). One of the waitress heard I liked spicy and went out of her way to bring me hot chili oil. That was very sweet and considerate. Environment and experience: it was nice and quiet when we entered. It's definitely clean. Good set up and they offer lots of happy hour items (during happy hour time). I thought my experience was ok and after that chili oil I will definitely come back when I'm around that area and craving ramen.
