The new location is bigger and nicer but somehow still not big enough. As with any of their locations, the chicken caesar salad is unstoppable, as is any of thier usual turkey soups.

Jack's Urban eats has excellent quality food items, and a nice laid back atmosphere. I had the Cheesesteak, and a order of Urban fries. The cheesesteak was tender and moist, and full of the flavor. I loved the blue cheese dressing on the Urban fries. Overall a decent bistro style restaurant.

It is 5:00 PM, I am picking up dinner to go, I tell my daughter to call it in. She tells me they don't accept phone orders. Wow, I have to wait in traffic then wait for my food, never ever coming here again!! Not worth waiting for!! Lousy customer service!!

My food tastes exactly the same every time I come in. Such good eats. The staff is friendly and I always get my food quickly!

I've been to 3 Jack's in the area and this one is definitely my favorite. It gets busy as the one in midtown, but there's more space inside so you don't feel as claustrophobic. Portions are great and you don't feel cheated on. Taste is usually on point. Customer service varies, but for the most part it is good. The parking lot can get crazy sometimes, but really nothing you can do about that.

Winner, winner chicken caesar salad dinner. 5-star reviews are rare for me, or from me so faites attention. We were a group of about 7, so we had to stake out our table groupings inside. Yes, we are one of those annoying groups. Everyone else was doing it too though, plus it was cold outside so inside was definitely preferable. Among us, there were oh 4 kids so the parents and kids shared a tri-tip sandwich and a few orders of mac and cheese, and a salad. The half-salad is definitely enough for one person, and it's delicious. The tri-tip sandwich was ordered by my friend too. Good stuff, so they tell me. To add chicken or tri-tip to your salad you pay 2$, such is life. I really enjoyed it so it was worth it. Others in our group raved about the fries too, but we had all wanted mac and cheese. The mac was completely worth it, plus they had hot sauce which was an excellent accompaniment too. Prices were pretty reasonable for the quality of food presented. Service was great too, we all had plenty of refills. Refills on soft drinks were not charged here, which is pretty rare these days. There are quite a few Jack's locations throughout town, I'd return another time. Others in our party said that they could eat at this place everyday, and I believe it.

If you come here for lunch on a weekday, you will stand in a long line, then the line will split into two lines: one for salad and the other sandwiches. You may Build your own salad by selecting: 1) mixed greens, romaine, or spinach; 2) a dressing from many dressings to choose from; and 3) six veggies from an enormous list of veggies. the possibilities are endless. and of course you may choose to add a protein such as grilled chicken to your salad. the full salad is $7.95 only ONE DOLLAR more than the half salad. why would anyone not get the full? chicken is $2 more. Then you stand behind the glass and watch your food get made in front of you. Meanwhile, you drool at the whole oven roasted turkey, perfectly medium rare steaks, and chicken breaks being carved, sliced, and grilled before your very eyes. Also, the displayed comfort foods of mac and cheese, cheese bread, mashed potatoes will all be tempting you. Then you pay with the very friendly cashier who will ask you how your day is going, and then you find a table (on the nice outdoor patio if you like) and eat your delicious food.

I used to frequent jacks when lived in the area I now live in Elk Grove. I have been back twice the past 2 months and I was not impressed the quality of the food has downgraded "awful" how can a salad be so bad and the Mac and cheese too . I wished I would have read some of the reviews because they are right . I will not visit them again !!!

3.5 stars. I dropped by here since my friend lives in Sac. He recommended this place and I ordered the 1) Hot Pastrami Rueben: 3/5 ( a little too much saurkaurt) 2) Spicy buffalo Salad: 4/5 I highly recommend the spicy buffalo salad!

I do not enjoy waiting or crowds, so when I am hankering for Jack's I purposely go later than the average lunch time in order to avoid the bulk of the crowd. So, I probably got to Loehman's plaza around 1-ish...a safe bet that most of the lunchers are almost done with their lunch time...right??? WRONG!!! And to my sup rise the new Jack's that moved into the old Scott Seafood was now open. I was excited this whole time they were advertising that they were taking over this location. Why? Because it's much bigger and we all know bigger means better and less wait/crowds. So, today when I rolled into the parking lot to see Deli Beach in their old location, I was titillated at the prospect of dining at a new Jack's location and looking forward to their new found speediness and roominess. WRONG !!! Ok, the place is much bigger and there is way more outdoor seating...yes, all good. But that place was PACKED and the line was super long. Sad day. I go and wait in the line and it's not moving - at all. Hello...I'm on a time schedule here, cuz I do need to get back to work in a timely fashion. I wait for a bit hoping that there will be some movement in the line. There is NOT. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Jack's food...but for me, it's just not worth it to wait that long. I ventured to Noodles and Company in the same strip mall. VERY GOOD AND VERY FAST!!!

MMMM Yummy and fresh. I LOVE the make your own salad, so many options I can't get bored. I love that they have things like quinoa and kale for my salad, and the Half size is plenty big enough for a filling lunch. Garlic fries, AMAZING! A perfect place to go for a simple work day lunch. Too bad the lunch line is so crazy!!

    Three Words: Urban. Fries. Awesome.

  • Cindy L.

I usually get the create your own salad with chicken or tri tip. The half size is huge and more than enough for a meal. The tofu is my favorite ingredient. It is so flavorful that I sometimes ask for two servings. Like many others, I also love the urban fries. However, my friend and I recently started making it at home, so we can now eat it for a fraction of the cost! If the patio is full, then I will order to go because I do not like sitting inside and smelling like food when I leave.

Delicious! Great food for anytime of the day! Miss the old location but I guess more room space is best :)

  • Tammy S.

I love their new location; it's definitely more spacious and the atmosphere is just a step up from their old location. Their garlic fries are a must have! It's definitely great for catching up with some friends, lunch, & dinner.

This is a neat place! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the habanero mango salsa... so good! Even the fries were great! My boyfriend ordered a steak salad- awesome, as well. It's been a few months since I have been, but I fully intend to go back.

Jack's has delicious food, fast service and efficient and friendly staff. However, the loudest, most annoying atmosphere you can possibly imagine. Get your order to go and maybe you won't be as frustrated.

Anytime is a GREAT TIME at JACK's !!!! salads are big you can share it with another person. It get's busy during the lunch and dinner hour so try to go lil earlier so you can get a good seat if eating in. Sandwiches are well done either chicken, turkey or flank. Sides and Soups okay and don't forget to order a Family Size of Jack's Urban Fries!!!!! you will be going back for more

Love the food! Urban Fries. Hearty salads. Fresh roasted turkey. Frequently disappointed with the service and timing of getting my entire order.

This is the perfect place for lunch, delicious, quick and easy! It's rare when I come here with just one friend because as soon as people know we're eating at Jack's everyone wants to join in! I've had many different things here, but my favorites are the following: Spicy Buffalo Salad (I omit the blue cheese dressing, and order it with Ranch), Cajun Chicken Sandwich (perfectly spiced), and the Spicy Buffalo Sandwich (I just love spicy buffalo!), but my all-time favorite are their Urban Fries--I'm salivating right now just thinking about it--they top them with blue cheese (which for me is big because I don't tend to like blue cheese), spicy chili oil and chili flakes, this combination is perfection! P.S. don't let the long lines deter you from entering Jack's because they go by pretty fast! Enjoy.

  • Kate W.

Good food fast!! Similar set up to chipotle (cafeteria style). They let you customize salads, carved meats and sandwiches. You stand in line to pick your items and they make them in front of you. There is a salad station to create your own salad, a meat carving station for adding meat to salads, making sandwiches, or just to get carved meats. They have sides you choose right before you check out. I usually order the turkey berry (it been a minute since i've had this sandwich), or the basic carved turkey sandwich with a side of urban fries!! YUM!

    (3)
  • Jason G.

The tri tip is always good or the cheese steak, which is the tri tip with cheese and a small amount of onion and peppers. You can get a French dip, just the tri tip with au jus dipping sauce.

  • Jim K.

Very impressed on my first visit. Very fresh, all made in front of you. I loved my Kale, Quinoa Salad with added steak. Maybe I liked the Pink Lemonade more. Very reasonable prices. Instead of fast food, go to Jack's Urban Eats.....

  • James C.

These guys have really, and I seriously mean, really good tri-tip. That's literally what I get when I come here. I get $10 worth of carved meat, tri tip. They always look at me funny when I order it because I guess most people order it in sandwiches and such, but not me! I honestly don't care what others think when it comes to food. I just eat what tastes good to me! I asked for aujus on the side. omg, that was amazing. The only reason this place gets 4-stars though is because everything else on their menu is, to me anyway, considerably high-priced. Don't get me wrong, the food is definitely worth the price, which is why I still go here, but they should have a clearance section for food LOL. Just kidding, I feel like they would give me mold. THE END!

I've only been to Jack's twice, so let me preface this by saying I'm no expert. On my first visit, I got chicken strips and fries cuz I had been craving good chicken strips, and they were just OK. Boyfriend got a turkey club which he loved, so one star earned here. On my second visit, I tried the pulled pork sandwich with onion strings and cold slaw, and garlic fries on the side. First off, the garlic fries were pretty good. We got to the restaurant at about 11:20am so we had to wait about 25 minutes for our food, which was unfortunate but I'm not going to cry over that. I've worked fast food, I get it. That being said, the garlic fries were very fresh, just hot enough and super crispy. Second star earned! The pulled pork sandwich, well... OK, let's be honest, it was carnitas. The pork was not pulled, it was chopped, and so greasy I went through a pile of napkins. I could tell by looking at the meat that it had been thrown in a pan with some oil. And yet the sandwich was cold? Interesting. The onion strings were yummy, but really, how can you mess that up. The coleslaw was a few strands of chopped cabbage. There may have been a carrot or two. I also vaguely remember the menu saying something about a mango chipotle barbecue sauce. I don't remember it. In my book, Jack's deserves another try, but next time I'll get a salad. A lot of people were getting those and they looked really good. But if you want a big, yummy, saucy pulled pork sandwich, go about 20 yards down the sidewalk and get one at Beach Hut.

I love jacks soooo much! food is always amazing! however the customer service is horrible. The African American girl that took my order today seemed very unhappy and I can read it all over her face, that was very unpleasant and not what I would expect from this establishment, on top of her sour attitude her coworker who she asked to make my salad made it clear she did not want to make it by the the way she rolled her eyes and sighed, she replied to her saying "ssssuuuurrrre ill do it" I really hope management will take care of these two staff members who obviously are having a bad day. Even though everyone has bad days, don't bring it to work. with that said I hope they don't take my order ever again, because I'll just walk away.

I work around the area and go there often. Not gonna happen anymore. There is one cashier that is a complete *itch. Never says hello or thank you. Very rude. I dont know her name but she has long hair and she looks hispanic. Also to top it off they keep getting my order wrong. Its been 4 times in a row they either forgot meat or gave me something different. Not going there again.

    two words: urban fries

I absolutely love Jack's food. The "make your own" salad is one of my favorites but when I'm feeling frisky, mmm mmm, urban fries! I have never had a meal here that I did not like. So yes, the food is amazing. I will agree, however, that the ambiance is not that stellar. Of course, I am not sure how much of that is Jack's fault.

I think this place is great. They have pretty standard American fare but the food is always fresh and piping hot. The prices are very reasonable. You need this type of place in your arsenal - where you know you can get reasonably good food and not get totally ripped off. I ordered the steak salad today which was delicious. Their fries (garlic and/or sweet potato) are very good. The salads seem to be very fresh and of course you are welcome to customize the ingredients. Service is fast. My salad is ready by the time I get to the register to pay. If you order a hot sandwich they will give you a tag to take to your table and bring it out, usually within 5 minutes. A good place to bring kids. There is an outdoor patio and a basic, no frills inside dining area too.

  • Tiffany N.

I recommend the urban fries for anyone trying this place out for the first time. They are absolutely delicious and compliment the meals well. I had a steak salad the last time I was here and I could barely eat half. Their portions are rather large and filling. A definite plus. It's not that spacious inside but there is a lot of outdoor seating. Customer service is excellent here, the girl making our salad offered us a second plate since she knew we were sharing. I never have a bad time when I'm here.

I love this place. Have been coming here for like 5 years and the quality is always awesome. The sandwiches are all so good and the urban fries are a gift from god.

I used to like Jacks a lot better. I'm not a huge fan of the new location. Also, their portions on the salads are hit and miss. I love the food, but I feel like they could try a little harder on the service.

Jack's Urban Eats offers the best salads and sandwiches. You can order a salad on the menu or customize your own. Be careful, this location gets extremely busy, and parking in the shopping center can be a big nightmare! You have an array of topics to choose from for your salad, and you can order a half or full size. When I come, I usually just order the steak salad which comes with slices of steak, fresh mixed greens, cranberries, blue cheese crumbles, walnuts and a delicious vinaigrette. When I feel really hungry, I also order a side of the Urban fries...delicous and delectable fries with blue cheese, red chili oil, and parsley. SOOOO SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!! Good food, fair prices. Definitely a nice place to eat out on the patio and people watch!

This is as fresh as it gets! Better you see how it's made... No guessing what they are doing to your food ... Like dropping it on the floor spitting in it ... NOT HERE ... It's all CLEAN & fast! Made in front of you! Lines can be long at lunch time it's best to go after 2 pm to avoid the long lines. Staff is always friendly. +1 The lines do split as mentioned for ordering salads & hot items then @ the the check out is the sides ... At first it's a bit confusing. The prices are very reasonable and the portions very satisfying. My partner & I can easily split a salad and be satisfied. You won't go away hungry or disappointed.... Except if you choose to..

In its new, larger space at Loehmann's Plaza, Jack's is as reliable as ever, as well as confusing to the uninitiated. Where do you order? What if you want a salad AND something from the kitchen? Why can't one person coordinate everything? Once you learn the system it's all good, but I have to believe some customers have been chased away by uncertainty. The service model resembles Sam's Hofbrau, but it's a little more laissez-faire. This is a nice place to get a salad. Last time I went I had the Thai prawns salad. Other times I have chosen the Buffalo chicken salad. No complaints, and the portions are huge. The sandwiches are pretty good, too, and if you want turkey and gravy because you're feeling nostalgic about Thanksgiving, you're in the right spot. The kids get comfort food - macaroni and cheese, chicken strips and fries. They're all average, although the Urban Fries, with chili oil and bleu cheese, are darn tasty. One of the best parts about the new location is a giant KZAP radio painting on the wall - a grinning Cheshire cat. A welcome nod to Sacramento's history.

Jack's was literally the very first restaurant I ate at when I came to Sacramento years ago. I thought it was great then, but time hasn't been the kindest to Jack's. Has the quality gone downhill? No. It's still a pretty sound meal. Freshly prepared meats, made-to-order salads and some pretty awesome sides. The Urban Fries in particular are a treat! But as a whole, it doesn't stand up to similar eateries. The pricing is too high for what you get and the food is in the good-not-great realm. It's not going to kill you, by any means. But you could (and probably should) be able to do better.

THE BEST salad I have ever had. I like to order the Caesar as sort of base, and I add tomatoes and mushrooms. Oh, man, those fat, juicy mushrooms. They're my favorite part. The salads are kind of pricey (around $10 including tax), but I think it's worth a splurge every once in a while. I wouldn't know how to make their salads at home.

    (4)
  • Harrison L.

It used to be a haven for comfort food(slow cooked, tasty gravy, home style chili, etc.) now it's become like another chain. The staff is still get but it seem like no one in charge is actually testing the food. (the turkey chili I had was bland. The Mac n Cheese was even more bland.... (It needed Cheese Whiz?) I hope it was just a 'temporary thing cause I will be back. And I will tell you.

The sand which (turkey club) was amazeballs. Sweet fresh and flavorful, this place will make you think your eating dirt at subway, as a picky eater, this place wins at sandwiches. Bring your friends, and pack some vodka to add to your strawberry/7 up drink, sit back relax and enjoy delicious food, so delicious your soul will be happy. I will be coming back, frequently. The sandwich looked small, but it was very filling, the price you pay is justified by the quality.

Urban fries are a MUST! Half salad's are HUGE and filling and are cheaper. The honey mustard salad dressing is delicious too!

As I was standing in the incredibly long, yet fast moving line at Jack's Urban Eats on Fair Oaks I thought to myself, "I should write a Yelp review about this place." One thing I love in a lunch place is efficiency. I'm not a work-aholic or anything, but I can't take a leisurely 2 hour lunch on weekdays. When we first stepped into Jack my heart sank and I panicked a little, almost suggesting we go someplace else. But we had our hearts set on that delicious fresh brewed iced tea and roasted turkey. So we stood in line and talked for a bit and before we knew it it was our turn to order! Like magic. The food is always fabulous - although I was disappointed in my caramelized unions (they were still pretty white, it was my understanding caramelized onions were suppose to be brown, gooey and delicious, but I could be wrong). Overall, a lovely experience.

I normally like to get salads here but I have to say the last few times I have not been happy at all. Today I went in and got a steak salad to go with dressing on the side. The lettuce was actually turning brown and was far from fresh (see pictures). The salad is $10 after tax so I have to say I expect to have fresh greens in my salad. I will admit in the past I would typically order the salads with the dressing on the salads. They are so drenched with dressing I just might now have notices if the greens are super fresh or not. The last 2 trips I have been here I have done to-go orders w/ dressing on the sides and both time not fresh. It is close to my house but I guess I will have to stick to making salads at home from now on.

Don't get me wrong. The food is pretty good. But if you're big on customer service don't go!!! No smiles and no greetings. What bothered me the most was that one of the staff members basically "put down" another employee in my presence. Which for 1. Makes me feel awkward and 2. It's extremely UNPROFESSIONAL! The staff talks amongst themselves including the manager with the blonde hair. And when you're making your order it's as if they might as well walk away from u in mid sentence! Almost like they'd rather run in front of a bus than serve u. The 1 star rating is for the horrible etiquette and customer service. But the food I'd say is about 3-4 stars. I'm really mad that my boyfriend's first time there wasn't good. The food just isn't worth dealing with bad service. I'll never go back

A co-worker brought me to my first Jack's and I am hooked. I have been to 2 locations and both are very clean. Tables are bused often. Service is fast. I love all that we have tried but my favs are the salads and mac n cheese.

They've Sacramentenized the blue plate!! I would have never guessed Jack's would become "comfort food" to me. Part delusion, part deliciousness...combined, give me that warm, goodness feeling! In part it has to do with the Trader Joe's affect - it must be healthy if there is a salad bar option. If making your own salad seems too high maintenance, then I highly recommend two salads: 1. The Steak Salad & 2. The Cesar Salad. The vinaigrette on the steak salad is great tasting and not overbearing or too acidic. They add freshly grilled steak (to your order), croutons, blue cheese, onions, and crasins (I trade out for corn)...all atop a huge helping of spring mix - coming in at around $9.50, no half orders, go BIG or go HOME! The Cesar Salad has great flavor, but the GAME CHANGER is adding bacon - the lovelies that work behind the counter let me in on this little secret awhile ago. This addition makes it yelp-tastic, I promise. Too keep it least healthy as possible, you best order the Urban Fries. For someone who can't stand spiciness, I forsake my burning mouth and eat these delicious fried starch sticks slathered in blue cheese sauce, chili flakes, and chili oil. Sounds extra spicy, it pretty much is...but it's worth the pain. Newbies and most regular people don't really know how the order line works - or they are just too nice and don't want to look like they are cutting. It is cafeteria style ordering, however the lanes merge into one. Horrible set up, but they haven't changed it in years...so I don't think they will. Essentially there are two stations -salad station and everything else station, but you can't really decipher which line is where. You pretty much end up asking everyone in line - Salad? Sandwich? Most are going for the healthy salad option, which means you can skip a head and head to the carver to place your order...as 15 pairs of eyeballs are burning into the back of your head - but I swear, this is appropriate Jack's behavior. It's not so baller-on-a-budget for your wallet. But, in the end I think the price is almost worth the food. Their helpings are large, especially if it is a to-go order. These little nuggets of tastiness are sprinkled around the area - this one is the OG! Keepin' Sacto happy one salad or urban fry at a time!

This place is alright to me. I tried their bbq tri-tip sandwich. I expected it to be delicious, but it was dry and the buns were dry. I tried better burgers. The only thing that was really good to me was their garlic fries. Probably the best garlic fries i've ever tried anywhere. Atmosphere was good. Great place for lunch or a place to catch up with a friend. Friendly staff. Quick service. Stars: 3.2

One of my favorite local places. Everything here is great, but I must order the same thing every time I come here because it's just that delicious! I get the steak salad with spinach (instead of mixed greens). I am not a steak eater normally, but this salad is too good to pass up. I also love how fast I get in and out, even when it's packed.

  • Thao T.

I honestly love it here ! I have never had a bad experience. The sandwiches are amazing. The tri-tip is really good. And the urban fries are the BEST ! I love coming here with my sister. We always enjoy ourselves. I always order buffalo chicken or the cheesesteak sandwich. The atmosphere is really nice too.

I used to love it but I don't know what happened to Jacks. The employees are rude and they always mess up my order. They don't even care anymore. I think that they should hire people that want to work there. The last three times I have gone, it's kind of sucked and wow, there are a ton of others pleases to eat in the parking lot!

  • Jessicah J.

One of the best tri tip sandos ever (classic tri tip)! Add some sweet potato fries, yum! I would give 5 stars if it were a bit less pricey. $30 for 2 lunches is a bit ridiculous (even if it is delicious). I still go once or twice a month though... Can't satisfy my craving for tri tip anywhere else. The salads are huge and the other meals look good, but I can never bring myself to try something else. That damn tri tip calls my name every time.

This was a really interesting eatery for me. I've never experienced a setup like this nor have I eaten something that sounds so ordinary but has this distinct goodness taste to it =) The atmosphere and interior was really nice. It's lit very dark but it adds a nice ambiance to the restaurant. I was expecting something similar to Subway but I was sooo wrong. My friend and I walked towards the end of the restaurant because that's where you order. On two different occasions, I've ordered the half caesar salad, mac and cheese, urban fries, and hawaiian sandwich. All were sooo good! The half size salad is pretty big if you're a petite person. It's a good amount of dressing and they put hella cheese, I love it. The mac and cheese was a bit bland because all of the sauce sank down to the bottom. Very cheesy but still bland. My two favorites: URBAN FRIES AND HAWAIIAN SANDWICH!!!!! Urban fries were sooo good. I'm not a fan of bleu cheese but it was sooo good on these fries. They were the really crispy ones so I chowed all those down, all the while, eating my hawaiian sandwich. I can't describe it except it being sweet and tasty. Prices are so-so. If you're willing to drop $7-8 on a sandwich that may or may not fill you up, go for it. It didn't disappoint me =)

  • Kyle F.

The food is amazingly good. Especially the BBQ chicken sandwich and the urban fries. As soon as they move into their new bigger location it will be 5 stars. I never know if I will be able to get a seat when I go now. But that's definitely a good problem to have if you're a restaurant.

I love the Jack's!!! It's only fast food like place where you can eat healthy. I go to ALL of the locations and they are all consistently good. I go downtown because I live there, the parking can be difficult, but not too bad. I got to the Loehmann's location a lot. It's not that cheap, $25 for two salads and two drinks. Gold River for lunch because I work in Rancho. They are all great places to lounge outside on a beautiful day and eat healthy food. If you want to cheat, they have great fries too! It's basically a salad bar and they have great sandwiches too. It's my staple place!! At one point, several years ago, I couldnt eat the turkey because it made me nauseous afterwards, I assumed from MSG, but I dont know if that's still the case. I've been getting chicken all of these years and I have no issues. If you dont go to Jack's you are a FOOL!!

While I like the salads at Jack's (the apples are especially soooo sweet and good), I actually prefer the salads over at Pluto's. Maybe sometime I should try one of the specialty salads... I usually stick with the grilled chicken sandwiches-- they are delicious. And the mashed potatoes? Wonderful... perfect comfort food. And the huge dollop sized serving is enough to share. My daughter likes the chicken strips but I don't know...to me, they just look like fast food chicken strips... and for the price and the portion size (3 small strips) it seems like a bit of a rip off... but she swears they are better than any fast food place. She also likes the onion rings. Now, an order of onion rings is a huge portion size-- she can never come close to finishing them. I've never had the Urban Fries but I hear they are to die for... I love fries (too much so...) so it's tempting... maybe someday I'll indulge. The ordering system here can be a bit confusing. If you get anything other than a salad, they write it down but then once you get down to the cash register, they don't get a copy of the slip so they will then ask you what you ordered. And no matter what time I've gone to Jack's, it's always busy so getting a table is sometimes a challenge. The workers definitely have their hands full as there never seems to be a dull moment of down time. And despite being super busy, I've never encountered any rudeness from the workers.

Wow! This Jack's location definitely set the bar for the chain... The Lower Bar. I should have went to McDonald's for my salad today... then I could've gotten a salad, an icecream cone, and fries for the 8 bucks I paid here. My half salad to-go looked more like a half-eaten salad. I've been to Jacks an upwards of 20 times and I've never been hungry after ordering a salad here... but I guess there's a first time for everything. The customer service here is about a 9... on a 1-100 scale. Server: "So what do you want on this?" Me: "Beets". Server: *dumps peas in it*. Me: "Uh, I said BEETS?" Server: "Oh I can't hear you. What did you say?" Me: "I wanted Beets, not peas." Server: *Puts beets on top of the peas* "What else do you want?" uh... ok, there goes 1 out of my 6 ingredients. He also couldn't toss a salad to save his life. In addition, they charged me a dine-in tax when I ordered takeout. Manager, please train your employees to work the cash register correctly. In addition to the addition, their portions of fries are also skimpier than the Downtown location... just like their salads. The most I got from my salad today was the peas... which I didn't even want in the first place. This is the result of workers who really don't enjoy or care about their jobs. Seriously, if you don't like making Salads then go work retail and fold some clothing.

We have been there several times and each time has been a perfect dining experience. The food is always of great quality and the staff is extremely friendly. It is one of those few restaurants where you can take the entire family and find something that will satisfy everyone's palette. However, they do everything so well you are tempted to try things you normally wouldn't try elsewhere.

I like the food here.. I DON"T like the attitude. Met up with an old friend for lunch here and when we were going through the long line there was much confusion with a lot of customers on who to tell your order to. One girl was shouting for customers to give her their sandwich order and copped an attitude when the lady told her she wanted to order a salad too "I don't do salads:" was her exact response. It was really hard for both the worker and the customer to hear what either one was saying because the place gets loud when busy. I had to repeat whether or not I wanted my food for here or to-go three times because of all the noise and trust me, I'm no mouse when I speak. The kicker here was the red headed 'tude factory at the register who was all pissy when I told her that I wanted some fries. Apparently I was supposed to tell a specific person somewhere down the line and she wasn't happy that I missed them and was telling her. Sorry chick, but I didn't hear anyone shouting for fry orders. Then when I asked her for water she said "You can take that one" meaning the one she had poured for a woman ahead of me that forgot to pick it up and bring it to her table. ...yeah thanks. The salad I got was good but not good enough to keep coming back. I think I will just stick to Boudin SF.

Food- Fresh and tasty, large portions. Cost- A plate here costs around $8-$14. Atmosphere - bustling yet laid back. Wait staff- quick with no fluff Menu- Just enough variety but not too much to handle for someone as indecisive as me. Locations- Greater Sacramento; north to Roseville, south-west to Davis and east to Folsom, CA. Coming Back? Yes, it's definitely on my frequent flyer list. teecee-reesey.blogspot.c…

Super healthy and tasty salads, prepared with your choice of ingredients. Their sandwiches are very good, too, and with generous portions of meat. A very nice atmosphere inside, a bit trendy, with great service. Both inside and outside seating. Their burgers are a big step above the competition. Sandwiches include your choice of bread and ingredients. You can eat as healthy as your want or with a killer amount of calories, your choice. Service has been consistently good, even when a bit crowded. Friendly and helpful wait staff.

Yummy! This place is close to my work so I come here often. When you come here you grab a menu and stand in line. They offer a wide variety of salad and sandwiches and sides. I usually get the Jacks Classic with Chicken and the Urban fries. The meal is amazing! I like to eat outside as there is plenty of seating. Try the Urban fries. They are fries covered in a blu cheese sauce and spicy chili oil. So amazing. Also try the mashed potatoes. They give you a huge serving and seriously bomb. This place is great. They are busy during rush hour and can take a while (hence the 4 stars) but really good. $$$-not cheap but not super expensive.

Worst service on the West coast. Staff obviously wants to be somewhere else while working. No greetings or hello's, because customers are just interruptions to conversations between employees that continue in customers presence. Food is over-priced and ok at best. My first and only experience at this location was horrible, as I have heard from others, but I had to check it out for myself. Unimpressed, put off, not going back

Jack's Urban Eats, probably best known for their fries. Really, you can't deny it, those fries are amazing! Just thinking about it right now makes my mouth water. Such a guilty pleasure. But enough of that, aside from the fries, I think their food is eh just okay. I can't judge the salad because I've never had it, but their sandwiches aren't that great. To be honest, my only incentive to come here is for the fries. Maybe I'll try the salad one day but I can't imagine it to be spectacular or anything. 3 stars it is!

I will never visit this place again! My brother and I went to Jack's at 8:30pm for dinner, he decided to get a sandwich and fries, I a sandwich and a salad. The salad was really the only reason we chose Jacks, because I was hoping for something light and healthy. We walked in before a large group of girls who the staff seemed much more eager to serve than they were us. The staff seemed dismissive of us, and kept rushing me through my order. I felt like I didn't get to add all of the items I wanted to my salad because the girl preparing it seemed very impatient. Once we had both ordered, we waited near the cash register and noticed that the cashier check out everyone before us, as if we weren't even there. After she finally asked us if someone had check us out, she finally put our food into bags and promptly sent us on our way without checking the order. When I got home I found my salad was on in the bag! I attempted to call Jack's (it wasn't closing time yet), but the phone kept ringing and ringing until it finally went to a recording stating that they were unable to accept voice mails. I called back again and again, until suddenly my calls were being sent straight to the recording. I will be calling tomorrow to complain about the service and the rudeness of the employees! I felt treated like a second class patron. I won't make any assumptions as to why, but Jacks needs to do a better job of treating each patron with respect and double checking each order to make sure everything is there. Furthermore, they need to have an actual voice mail available. I will never visit this place again. I will stick with midtown.

Yum yum yum! This is such a Sacramento favorite of mine! Usually I just order a half build your own salad. You get to pick 6 yummy items, and its enough salad for more than one meal! Some other awesome things are the build your own Sandwhich bar, and the Urban fries! Every time I'm Sacramento, I make sure to make a trip here. It never disappoints!

I'm surprised I have not reviewed this yet..Ive been coming here for years! I'm pretty sure its always had the same vibe, busy workers and "hipster" flair- which is why its so cool and crowded, right? Immediately upon entering, you smell the roasted meats- which are carved in front of you as you stand in line. I'm a sucker for buffalo sauce, so usually order the spicy buffalo salad-honey walnuts, crispy apples, celery and carrot, and side of "urban" fries (hot oil and pepper flakes, usually with blue cheese...and bacon) I drool. Prices are a wee steep, but hey, the food is awesome, fresh and piping hot. You can also order sandwiches or meals (sides like mac n cheese) with your choice of hand carved meat. Its another one of those places you just have to try, even once- if you re a midtowner.

I'm a big fan of Jack's Urban Eats all around the area, but the one I visit most is on Fair Oaks. It's convenient, has great outdoor seating, and I love their vegetarian sandwich options and awesome salads. The staff is always professional and cheerful and it's my go-to place to meet friends for lunch. Love it.

I like this place. The service is quick. Their menu is interesting and the prices aren't too expensive. They offer many choices from healthy to filling. Their salad menu is excellent. You pick the ingredients and they mix them up in the dressing of your choice. About the only downside was their mac and cheese. I'm a weird dude. I go through these cravings for random foods. Lately it's been seafood and mac and cheese. Their mac and cheese was gross. It was watery and lacked flavor. Mac and Cheese aside, I'd go back in a flash...

Two words: Urban Fries. Long ago, when my boyfriend was living in Sac, he was introduced to Jack's Urban Fries. Then he introduced me and we've had a quasi relationship ever since, with the fries that is. I haven't had these fries in years. And their steak salad was still on point and uno-reffic. Definitely a huge contender over Pluto's. This location really gets busy, especially on Sunday afternoons. Medium amount of seating, but good for groups? Meh. Oh I'll be back for you Urban Fries. Its a one-time stand or eating that always brings me back.

Had a horrible experience at the midtown location, but loved the food, so we drove out to the fair oaks location. It was a completely different experience with nice fruendly people. Food was great as usual. Will definitely come back to this location.

update! since the intro of the reuben sammich, I've fallen in love again. ooooooo weeeee it's good!!!! urban fries are still a treat! a little pricier, but the amount and quality of the food makes it (mostly) worth the cost.

Came here for the first time. Heard about it and all the fuss so I've decided to give it a try. I had the Classic Turkey with everything. It was ok. Not the greatest. A little dry to me, but I was hungry so I ate it all. Will I come back? Maybe, but to try their tri-tip and see if the three star can be bump up to a four star.

It's all about that Spicy Buffalo sandwich and NOTHING else!!!!!!! Okay, the CheeseSteak was yummy, but I prefer the one at Zebra Club better. But let's talk about the Spicy Buffalo......mmmmm. Mind you, when I say buffalo I'm not talking about the scary looking thing, but of the sauce. The chicken was nice and crispy and OMG, the sauce!! Mmmmm......... The place won me over with that sandwich.....mmmm........ **can't think, can't type, can't Yelp. Must....get.....sandwich......**

Never heard of this place until a friend suggested we go there for dinner. Very reminiscent of Pluto's. The layout is practically the same--spot for ordering salads, your sandwich, sides... The concept is the same as well. Just imagine Pluto's but pricier and less delicious. The reason why it gets 3 stars is because the salad I ordered (Buffalo) was just MEH. It was definitely pricey for what I got and what it tasted like. $9-10?? I'd rather go to Pluto's. Fraction of the price with an amazing selection. I did try the blue cheese fries thing that apparently is the rage for Jack's. I'll give it to them, it is unique and pretty good. If I come back, it'll be for the fries.

It's Jack's. This is an absolute Sacramento institution. Who doesn't like Jack's? The food isn't quite as good as it was about 6 years ago (or maybe my palate has matured), but it is still pretty darn good. This is a great place to come when you want something quick and easy. They have salads, sandwich's, and some great sides. I usually get one of the make your own salads. I like it during the summer when they have strawberries available as one of the options. In the winter they have grapes as the fruit option...which is also pretty cool. When I am in a mood for the sides it has to be either the cheesy bread or the cheesy broccoli. When I feel like eating really terribly (and there is someone there to eat it with me) I order the URBAN FRIES!! I mean really - fires, blue cheese crumbles and dressing with chili flakes and chili oil...OMG...so good!!! I have never had problems ordering and even though the line looks intimidating, it really moves quite quickly. These days I find myself at the downtown Jack's more often, but I found myself at this Jack's recently. It was like rewinding to college days. Happy to report that it is still good!

Went here recently (for the first time) with a vegan friend who was very excited about the salads. I'm fairly picky about veggies myself - but I was delighted by what Jack's had to offer. There's a pretty extensive list of salads you can choose from; you can also order your own personalized salads, choosing from a selection of lettuces, dressings, and a really nice, wide array of toppings, including standard veggies, fruits, nuts, cheese, and seasoned tofu. For $2 extra, they'll add tri-tip or chicken. They'll also add salmon, if you want, but it's $4. (I hadn't realized when I ordered that it was going to cost $4, as it wasn't on the menu. The salmon was good but the size of the piece was not worth $4 more.) The salad itself was delightful. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty - and the salad alone for $7.95 would have been a fine deal. In fact, I could have opted for the "half" for $6.95 and had been sated - in part because we also got a small order of fries. It was a very generous "small" - and they were yummy fries. Food aside, the place was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. I'm looking forward to checking this place out again - and hopefully trying some of their tasty-looking sides and/or sandwiches.

I haven't lived in Sacramento for more than a year, and I still crave Jack's on a weekly basis. Everytime I visit, it is a MUST that I come here for their BBQ Chicken Sandwich & Urban Fries. Salads are delicious as well- really fresh & so many options to choose from! The BF & I would go here about once a week. When it's busy it can get a little confusing if there isn't someone calling you up if you want a sandwich, or moving you over if you're ordering a salad. Many times while waiting in line I've seen their system befuddle people if they hadn't been there before. Any time I ever have to order food from a counter, I don't expect over the top, extraordinary customer service (obviously, as their duties as a "waiter" are limited), but I have never had an issue. Staff is friendly, but nothing to write home about.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for create-your-own-salad joints... just maybe. Don't judge me!! I love this place. Unfortunately I hadn't been in about two years, but embraced the familiar atmosphere with open arms as soon as I walked in. The workers are super-speedy with their salad tossing (no pun intended, get your mind out of the gutter!!!), and for $7.25 I got a delicious spinach, tofu, red tomato, pepperoncini, kidney-garbonzo bean, cherry tomato, balsamic vinaigrette and something-else-I-can't-remember salad! The tofu was amazing... it was marinated in something delicious, I can't put my finger on it but I want to ask next time so I can try to recreate it at home. The place is very clean, there is ample seating (even though it's at Loehmann's Plaza and is a nightmare on the weekends) both indoor and outdoor. Whenever I'm in the area, I will stop again. Gotta check out the Gold River location next, since it's close to my house. YUM :)

The food is usually very good here, but coming here for the 5th time, my BF's sandwich wasn't made right. When we were getting our order rung up, the cashier with the stud in her lip, didn't even greet us. She asked us for our ticket and said our food would be right out. No thank you, smile, or anything. Then they forgot our fries and when we asked where they were there was no "sorry" we'll take care of it. Very rude.

Great food, very fast paced and always seems busy. Feels like you have to know what you want before you got there because if you dont know the line will keep pushing you forward. The girls will call next and expect you to have your order ready. If you seem like you are still deciding you will be pushed to the side and the next person will be called. When I do know what I want it is fast service and the food is always tasty. If you plan to go here I recommend you look online and figure out what you want ahead of time.

This place is very...so-so. It's not that bad, it's not that good, and the price is right in between for the style of dining experience (kind of a fast casual). If I'm in the area and I'm hungry but not hungry enough to head down the road and spend a little more at Roxy, I would probably go here. Their taco salad (not sure if they call it a taco salad, but it's some kind of Mexican-inspired salad) is not bad, but it could use a bit more spice. As it is, it's a little bit bland for my tastes. On my last visit, I tried a barbecue sandwich of some sort, and it was ok but not great. The meat in the sandwich was a little tough and hard to pull apart, and the sandwich was a huge gooey mess because the sauce completely killed the bun's structural integrity. The taste was pretty good, though. I just hate when I need to use an entire stack of napkins to eat a sandwich. The best thing about Jack's is eating outside, which means that if there's no available outdoor seating or the weather isn't that great, I'm probably going to go somewhere else.

Visiting from Colorado and my gf recommended this place. This is my first time eating at this place so here goes my review. We ordered: 1) California Cheese Steak - The meat was tender, and the mushrooms and pepper jack cheese went well together. All of this was in between this bread that was a little too hard to chew for my taste. 3.5/5 2) BBQ Chicken Sandwich - The chicken was wonderful. My favorite part of the sandwich was the crispy onions that reminded me of that of "Red Robins." Again, the bread kind of made things hard to eat because it was just chewy enough where it didn't go well with the soft chicken and onions. 4/5 3) Urban French Fries/Regular Mashed potato with gravy - The fries were new, crispy, tasty and different than any other fries I've ever tasted before. The fries laid on a bed of bleu cheese and drizzled over with some type of oil which worked well with one another. 5/5 - These mashed potatoes were good, nothing too too special from the typical mashed potatoes. The gravy was good, thick and covered enough of the mashed potatoes where you didn't feel cheated. 4/5 Overall, a pretty good eating experience. I would come back and maybe try a different sandwich and of course... would order the urban styled fries! Good eats, and worth a shot if you're a big fries eater.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. They have sandwiches, soups and salads but you can even make a dinner meal with the sides: mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and veggies. You know their meat is fresh and non processed because they have a huge turkey in there every time wich they carve for you. Once you try their urban fries......mmmh hmm- the best food creation.

This place is exactly like Pluto's! I like the blue cheese fries here but I don't like blue cheese so they substituted it with ranch. I came on a weekend and it was super busy. Pretty small restaurant with some outside patio seating.

  • Frankie P.

Oh how far you they have fallen. Jack's used to be a reliable lunch spot with good food at reasonable prices. That sadly is no longer the case. They put too much dressing on the salad, the chicken is always pink and I fear not cooked all the way through and the once golden urban fries have become bland and mushy. I can't believe I am saying this, but Pluto's is much better.

jack's urban eats is definitely the place to go if you're craving a salad! i'm not a fan of ordering salads when i'm eating out (i need a real meal not some bird food!) but i ALWAYS order the steak salad from here. ALWAYS. jack's is a semi-sit down restaurant where you order at the counter and make your way down to the cash register. the salads are usually quick to prepare and will usually meet you at the register as you ponder your choices in sides. the salads are huge and it definitely fills me up! or does my (pretty small) side of buttery goodness mac and cheese make me full ? or is it the urban fries?? probably the combination of the 3. those are my standby's. i've tried other salads and sides but those make the trifecta that is my love for jack's. if you have to get one item, get the signature urban fries, family size! there's garlic and chili oil and, my favorite, blue cheese dressing drizzled all over tasty french fries! for some reason, at this location, the fries always take a long time to prepare and the servers bring it out to my table when i'm half way done with my meal. oh well! they're delicious either way. enjoy!

What can I say that everyone else hasn't? You go in, order and pay up front. I love their custom salad bar. You can order anything your heart desire, my fav is the chinese chicken salad, If I am not alone, I order the garlic fries (must try) because it is a pretty big portion and one person cannot eat it alone with their entre so it works really well as an appitezer. They have booths and tables inside as well as outside patio.

When Jack's Urban Eats moved into the old Scott's Seafood space at Loehmann's, I hoped they might improve their service. Patrons were "greeted" with a brusque attitude and not one smile from a server. There are still no hairnets or caps on those girls (and some guys) with their long hair flipping around everywhere. It's California law! Beards and mustaches must also be covered. I don't want your hair in my food. I would like to see that law enforced at all area restaurants, which I never do. Cooks may wear them, but I never see nets on servers, except at fast food joints. Seeing this at Jack's always makes me wonder about the sanitation at this restaurant. Do employees not wash their hands, either? I never saw so many ditsy kids tripping over one another with so much disorganization. I had to request gravy for the potatoes three times before someone acknowledged my order. I like the food, but the service stinks, at least at this location. I haven't tried others, but whoever manages this restaurant needs to attend to these issues. With food, presentation is everything.

Been here a couple times. The flavored mashed potatoes and the urban fries are always amazinggggg. And cheap. ALL THE POTATOES! I haven't had their sandwiches in a long time, but I remember them being juicy and savory. And sad that they don't have bottled cream soda anymore.

Stopped in on Saturday for a cheesesteak. The meat was tough, and for the price I could've gotten a better sandwich for less just about anywhere else. The sweet potato fries were great, and the service was quick, but the food quality seems to have gone down a little bit.

Yay! I can finally take this place off of my list. This place wasn't bad. My food was pretty good! I had the seasoned Char-grilled chicken and fries. The sandwich was pretty good. My food came out warm and pretty fast considering the place was a little busy. The one thing I didn't like and will agree with other reviews is the ordering system. The ordering system here...well to be polite...Sucks---in a major way! Also they have to do a better job of keeping the outside tables clean. If they can get that whole piece together they will be fine. My service was great I didn't have any issues or attitude from anyone. Do I love this place? NO! Do I like enough to try it again? YES! Overall this place wasn't bad. I will come back and try it again.

Great service- Great food- Great selection- 5 stars all the way. I love this place. It sets the bar for every salad I ever eat when I'm in a restaurant. It's the first place I tried brussels sprouts and I've been addicted ever since. Everyone I've brought here is addicted as well. I would drive to Sacramento just for a Jack's salad.

Had lunch with my daughter here yesterday. Very busy little place and nice outside sitting area. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty. And my sweet potato fries were just right. I had a bbq chicken sandwich that put a big smile on my face, I was suuuper starving and ready to eat my emergency protein bar from mg purse but since the food came rather quickly my proteinbar will be there for another day. Like I said it is a bit noisy and you order your food at a counter so this is a very casual place not a romantic dinner spot but good for lunch with friends. I would definetly go back for the food.

  • Vanessa W.

This is a pretty cool spot. I had their chicken strip basket with regular fries. I moved to Sac a year or two ago, and I still haven't found a place that I think does chicken strips as good as Red Robin and I keep looking, and unfortunately this spot isn't it. I paid average price for an average meal. I agree with other people that the service here is sub par. I walked in for the first time and no one addressed me or showed me how ordering/seating works in the restaurant. I obviously figured it out, but the best restaurants I've been to also have really good, helpful, and friendly customer service.

  • Jonathan A.

I suppose if you consider this place great you might want to rethink it. I have found long brown hairs about thirteen inches long in my food the last two times I've been here in the salad. The employees need to wear hairnets and should wear gloves as well. Sanitation is not a priority here, therefore I won't make returning to this place one either. Pluto's Fresh Foods at Arden Fair Mall, Galleria Mall, and a few other locations is almost the same concept as this place. As a matter of a fact, Jack's ripped off their concept from Pluto's completely. I think they made a few minor changes to the atmosphere in an attempt to be different but the similarities are undeniable. I think the food, quality, sanitation, and customer service are a lot better at Pluto's. I'm sorry Jack's but you've lost another potential customer, and I will be telling my friends, family and others about my bad experience. It didn't help that your employees tried to tell me that the hair in the food was mine. Hello? I have short hair, probably my longest hair is three inches long. If you like the protein, then I suppose you can come here... because they offer a free protein upgrade, just ask for the free hair supplement!

oh jack's...why do you have to be so far away? the tri tip sandwich...mmMmMmmmMmmhMmmmMm...everything from the bread to the steak to the onions to the pickle is just freakin good. and the urban fries? OMG...add garlic to those puppies and you'll be in heaven...how can you go wrong with blue cheese, chili oil, and garlic on top of perfectly cooked and crispy fries? you just can't! last time we went here, wifey ordered the turkey sandwich which was also oh so delish...and the side dishes here are amazing! the brussel sprouts...WOW...they were probably the best brussel sprouts i have ever had...and who could really say that about those little green things? haha. i've never tried the salad and don't really care to...the sandwiches and side dishes are the big deal. JACKS! you need to open up a location in the bay area! please!?!?!?

When I first had Jack's, I was super impressed. After lots of visits, I'm not so impressed. Yes, they have good salads, but their sandwiches aren't great (you can get better at Plutos) and neither are their sides (Their mac & cheese is very watery with no real taste anymore. The stuff at Panera is better and that's a national chain for goodness sake!). I think the real thing that makes Jack's a two-star place for me is the service. If you get anything other than a salad, it takes forever for you to get it. And forget about getting a to-go order for more than one person. I get the wrong food or an item is missing every time. And that's after a 20-minute wait! It's gotten to the point that I just avoid going to Jack's anymore.

Come for the chicken strips, stay for the agitation and terrible customer service! I really want to like this place but sadly, the only reason I come here is because my kids like the chicken strips and fries. If we need dinner and we don't want fast food and I can't think of any other options we resign ourselves to this place. The menu sounds great in theory but the execution is lacking. The grilled onions on sandwiches drive me crazy because it is just a huge slab of 1" round cut onion that has been thrown on the grill for about 30 seconds. Ick. The tri-tip on the sandwiches and in the salads is usually tough and chewy. Also, I don't know what is with the red wine, but the few times I have had it here, it is was really warm, like they keep it near the grill. I like my tea warm not my wine. It is usually hard to find a spot to sit inside and I find myself getting really agitated looking for a table. The customer service is definitely lacking, most of the employees seem like high school kids. The first time I was there there were several tables that were not cleared, I needed a table so I cleared a table myself and brought the dirty plates up to the counter and handed it to a young employee. The girl looked at me as if I had spit on her and quickly threw the dirty plates on the window bar seating area. Woops. The most recent time I was there I was trying to pay (where you also order your drinks) and the young girl ringing me up was having a separate loud conversation with another employee and I had to repeat my drink order 4 times... every time she asked for my order she would turn and started yelling over to another employee about something else. It was really annoying. I felt as if I was not a paying customer and all I was trying to do was pay!

I have been to Jack's a few times, as well as the midtown location, but I have to say they've gotten even better. I ordered and highly recommend the Turkey Club sandwich with the Urban Fries on the side. The serving of fries was HUGE, it came on a separate plate from the sandwich and was more than enough for two people, and I ordered the SMALL. I don't even like blue cheese, and they were amazing. The sandwich was fresh and delicious, also so big I saved half for dinner. Service was great and friendly. I got there around 11:30 and was shocked to see no real line, but it did fill up quick after that. The only downside to this location is parking really sucks. They shouldn't have put a supermarket in Loehmann's because it takes all of the parking options away from the other stores. Expect about 10 minutes of circling, and don't try to park by the bank - 10 minute limit.

The first time I've ever ate Jack's Urban was at the airport. The food was delicious at this spot too. I was craving for the garlic fries, and they were my runner ups to the other places in which I get my garlic fries from. Though this time, they skimped out on my garlic. :( I don't know about you, but I like my garlic fries to be super garlicy, or at least more than what I had got this time... The Ruben Sandwich was rather tasty, had all the right flavoring. I definitely enjoyed. It's not a place I would eat everyday, but it's still worth going to.

I had a better meal than this at the Baltimore Airport earlier this week. What happened, Jack? You used to be one of my favorite places, but I'm ticked that we paid $26 for two salads and two drinks today, and the food quality was so low. The lettuce in my salad was of widely varied chunks, as there was no uniformity with out it was cut, and some pieces were comically large. I can use a knife to cut it myself, so I don't take too many points away for that. I don't, however, want any hint of the reddish brown yuck that develops on romaine that's too old -- as mine had. I wasn't aware that I'd ordered extra gristle and fat with the chicken that went on my salad, but that's what I received.

This place is awesome. I went out to eat with my friend Igor and Serge, and we ordered barbecue sandwiches and fries. The sandwiches are amazing. Really delicious. It's like $10 for just a sandwich though so kind of pricey. But definitely delicious and tastes really good. This is nothing like Subway or Denny's.

Jack, Jack, Jack, if you're really out there (and I hope you are) please read this. Read it with the same passion that I am writing it because truly, your amazing concept is going to turn to sh*t! I would easily throw four stars to this establishment if I could just get one of the employee's to acknowledge me as a human being and paying customer, much less smile and say "thank you." Your approach to Fast Casual is novel. Such an expansive menu at a reasonable price with incredible, (mostly) fresh food. The interior layout and design of your Loehmann's Plaza restaurant is chic and cool. Your use of album covers from their respective year of release as table numbers is clever. And your food, oh man, your food is awesome! Urban fries, amazing. Delicious with grand portions, plenty to take home, all well done. Hey, I get it, I'm a restaurant operator. I know what goes on, and perhaps I get a little more picky when I'm treated like a poverty stricken leper. But just make an attempt to have your staff smile, welcome me, ask me how I'm doing and genuinely express interest in me, even if it's just for 3 seconds. I do have to hand it to you though, there is something about your food that is so amazing that no matter how many condescending looks your staff dishes out with the fresh cut chicken, people keep coming back to the point that your restaurant is full.

One of my go-to spots I have to hit food-wise when I'm back in town. I grew up in sac and have been going to jacks for a long time. LOVE IT. My favorite is a half STEAK Caesar salad (and I add tomatoes and shredded carrots) with a side of either Mac 'n cheese or cheesy bread. I never really mix it up... If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I really love Jacks Urban Eats but do not ever go to this location. When I came in there was a little line and about 8 people working behind the counter. Nobody addressed me or said hello. I had to awkwardly stand in line for about 5 minutes before someone talked to me and asked what I wanted. Nobody smiled at me but they smiled amongst each other as if talking about people in line or the latest gossip. I ordered the chicken strips and garlic fries with a coke. I paid $10 and walked out to realize they had given me Mr. Pib instead of the coke I had ordered. When I went back and asked for a coke the girl at the front register gave me a rude look and replied "I'm busy." So I had to ask another guy at the front who was very nice and got me my drink. When I opened my meal I was very disappointed. The chicken strips looked old and overcooked. The fries had a tiny dab of garlic and most of the garlic was on top of my dipping jars which was very messy and greasy. All in all I rate this one star because the customer service was horrible and the food was just alright. I would not return to this location, the sunrise and Coloma location is much better.

This Jack's is better than the midtown location! In reality, I will take Jack's at any location...Fair Oaks is my favorite! The salads beat Pluto's any day and their iced tea is super tasty!! Not to mention delicious Mac and cheese!

I personally LOVE their fries. I always get their Urban Fries and I absolutely love them. But one thing that pisses me off, is that they ALWAYS give me so little fries! I'm like, WTF! THIS IS ALL I GET?! Seriously. I open the box and I see less fries than what McDonalds Large fries has. It's bullshit to me. Iono if it's because I'm asian and male. I don't wanna pull out the race card, but I'm serious the only asian eating there. I order a family size and I get as much as a small offers. Complete BULLSHIT. And don't get me started on their service. utterly CRAP! I don't even want to tip them because it's so bad! The motherfucker behind the cash register, mexican guy, never fucking smiles. Dude like wtf? This guy does not smile ONE BIT! I see two cute girls come up, the fool doesn't even smirk. How am I supposed to feel welcomed if you look like an angry or depressed son of a bitch? Then there is the fat white girl with sharpie eye brows. She looks and talks to me as if she doesn't want to serve me. SHE DOESNT EVEN SMILE! She talks as though I'm wasting her time. How am I supposed to feel welcomed to that? i don't. Now that you know the service is shit, lets talk food. Urban fries are incredible! It has bleu cheese. I think bleu cheese sauce. Red oil. Pepper flakes. Cilantro. It's really good! Then there is the Chipotle Tri-tip sandwich, or so I think it's called. The most expensive sandwich. It's pretty good. Decent actually. Not bad. I like the sauce. I just have to complain about the bread. It's so hard to bite into and chew. It's like a work out for my jaw and I don't like that. Also the tri tip was all chewy and hard to bite and chew. I mean, that sandwich was like a fucking workout. I wouldn't get that sandwich again. It just wasn't worth my money. i come here only for the fries. Would I come here again? Yes. but only for the fries. OH AND HERES A TRICK TO GETTING MORE FRIES. This might not always work, but make sure to have a girl order. Make sure she's somewhat cute too. They usually give you more if you have a girl around. Also make sure the guy is taking your order, not the girl. The girl's a bitch. This is just a theory. try it.

I keep coming back for the food, but the service is still snarky. Maybe that's their theme? Hard to say. Also I'm a little hard of hearing out of one ear, and they were kind of rude about speaking up and relaying information even after I told them i was a little hard of hearing. I recently came down with some food related problem involving bread. I ordered some trip tip meats as a side. They put it on an enormous plate, and charged me a lot for it. It sure was tasty, but was a large dinner plate for 3 or 4 slices of meats necessary? Maybe a side dish plate? But aye.. I will keep coming back for the food... for now.

I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. First reason I hate you: You have HORRIBLE service. You employee nothing but teenagers and, guess what, they need chaperon! The only guy who is EVER good is the one slicing the meat...the salad people and the register people are never friendly or nice or efficient. Second reason I hate you: Your food is freaking good but I never want to go to ANY of your locations cause you always piss me off by making me wait around like cattle. Oh, and you're always out of something. Third reason I hate you: I don't care what kind of voodoo magic you think your salad tossers do, but a half salad (although cleverly served in a dish that makes it look twice its size) should not cost upwards of $12. The nail in the coffin is a few years ago I was so irritated with you that I went to your website to send an email and, guess what, there is no email address, just a mailing address you can send something too. I know what it takes to add a stupid email to your site, and its not much. Most businesses do it so they can keep close contact with their customers. The fact you didn't leads me to believe that you don't care what your customers think AT ALL. I'm still giving you three stars cause your ridiculously overpriced food is actually tasty...but..I'm not happy about it.

Had lunch at this Jack's location today.. Ordered the Ceasar salad.. It was wonderful.. One of the best I have ever had.. However I have to say they are in the Lohman's shopping center which has awful parking.. We were there around 1pm today and it took us 20 minutes just to find parking... Next time we go there it will be later in the afternoon, and hopefully we will get inside sooner

I've been going to Jacks ever since they opened--originally lured by the delicious Urban Fries but I come back for the fresh salads. I've discovered that their tofu isn't as good as the tofu at the Jacks in Loehmann's plaza but that's a minor detail. The rest of their ingredients are fantastic. Luv ya Jack's!

We stopped by this place last week, based upon its ok reviews. But I have to say this place is at least a 4 star in my book. We were there during lunch hour and it was packed. But we went thru the line quickly and without issue. Found a table right away. My Husband had the grilled tri-tip sandwich and fries. He said it was amazing. I had turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy.... Yummmm. We both split the mac and cheese, which was bland and not very cheesy. But overall I would go back in a heartbeat.

I love this place. The wait order your food can be awhile depending on what time of day you decide to come here. It's well worth the wait though. I typically order the caesar salad and the cheesy bread. My colleagues and I used to have a tradition to dine here once weekly last year. It was definitely a nice way to end our week! One perk of this place is that you can see the food before you order it. It's a nice tasty preview to what you're about to consume!

A group of my guy friends decided they wanted to eat here but I really didn't want to since I'm not a big fan of burgers. I guess men like their meat, LOL. Anyways, I was kinda confused at first since there was no menu visible but they had pamphlets when you're in line. I got the club burger along with fries which was an extra $1.50. One of my friends got the garlic fries which was really good. Reminded me of the garlic fries from AT&T Park, so nommy! Their burgers are really big. They actually make the food right in front of you and if you dine in, they bring you your food. Funny thing is that all the boys finished their food before me which I wasn't surprised. I didn't even finish half of my burger when they were done, lol. Overall, really good burgers.

It was Friday and we all gave up meat for the day. We ran across this place and even better the portobello artichoke burger on a whole wheat bun. This was tasty! I also got to try the garlic mash potatoes and the fries. Yummy. Next time I'd like to try the salad with steak. :) Will totally come back.

I'm guessing they save the raunchy overcooked end pieces for take-out orders so they can get it out the door before anyone notices how disgusting it is! It was competely inedible. Won't be going back!

The food is cool if u need a place that never let's u down, i think it's just a tad bit on the expensive side, especially considering portions. But i come here a lot so i can't complain too much and they're urban fries are one of a kind. besides that their salads are really good with steak and u can custom build a salad to ur liking.

Jack's is almost always crowded. Friends told me how great this place is. My boyfriend told me how great this place is. I was skeptical. A neo cafeteria? He took me there for dinner one night. I chose the "Jack's Classic" tri-tip sandwich. I think he got a sandwich, too. I was looking forward to it. People looked happy as they munched away on their sandwiches, fries, salads..... I got one, measly, thin slice of meat between two honkin fat slices of bread. So did my boyfriend! My food couldn't even stay together. It was less "sandwich" and more "onions, mustard, sauce and lettuce you scrape together with crumbling pieces of bread." Oh, I almost forgot, the meat was cold and tough. I know some people would say: "You went too late. They were probably closing." Not. It was about 7:30 p.m. The service was not good. The workers seemed to all be high school or college kids whose ears don't work. Yes, I know Jack's doesn't actually have "servers." Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't is common practice to tell your customers if you're running out of something on the menu?! $7 for a sandwich and you don't even get fries? At the very least I'd appreciate a free pickle, or a couple of potato chips. Something, people! No.... I don't think I got a handful of chips or a pickle or a carrot stick or an olive or anything like that. You have to pay $1.50 extra for fries, $2 for a soda with way too much ice. And they didn't even give a good refill. Not cool. I'm rating Jack's with two "dollar signs" ($11+) because for me, a meal at a place like this includes the main dish, fries/chips/potatoes/cole slaw/something else, and a drink. I might consider going there again, but only if I'm not paying.

Is it just me or is there something really awesome about slow roasted meats carved in front of you and put on your plate, side of mash, veg and gravy. It seems so clean, neat, and damn Ill be back again and again.

This place is a favorite of ours! Everything is delicious, regardless of menu selection or location, though this is my favorite for sentimental reasons. I know I'm homesick when I start thinking about Jack's urban fries and mac 'n cheese... other regular choices include the steak salad, BBQ chicken sandwich, garlic or cheesy mashed potatoes... I'm salivating just thinking about it! We love to meet friends there and it's always a hit. Fast and friendly service.

  • Andee V.

geeeeez considering how crackin this place is at like all times of the day, I was surprised to see how low the rating was. I gave it 5, why? Because there are so many good things to choose from when you go here. Lets see today I'll have the BBQ Chicken sandwich....no no I'll make a salad with my fav Gorgonzola dressing and tofu?...no feeling more like some urban fries, or mac and cheese, or chicken strips...mashed potatoes? I seriously get nervous when its my time to order because all these things are running through my head. Yeah some may say its a little pricey but shoot, its pretty much made to order and fresh so quit whining and hit up Trader Joe's for a packaged salad if that's what you want!! Only thing that sucks about this location is the parking, Lohmanns is packed, extremely packed around lunch so you might have to drive around for a spot.

    (5)
  • Bob A.

One thing that no one has mentioned is that it costs so little to eat here and you get big food for the money. The food is actually good. How can you rate the service it is basically self serve and you get your food quick. If Jacks is so bad why is it so difficult to find a table to sit at?

    (3)
  • Kristin B.

Oh come on people? As far as lunch places go in Sac, this is pretty much the only place I EVER go near my office. Now granted, their tri-tip is not the best I have ever had. But for a damn tasty salad, this is the place to go. The chicken is so much better than Plutos--there is just no disputing that. Yes, I hate crowds just as much as the next guy. In fact, Disneyland has literally inspired me to punch a baby. But that my friends is why you have to go at an off time. Are you REALLY shocked there will be like 984754387547 people there at any given 12 noon lunch hour? Nah. Go at like 1 and its fine.

Mmmmm... garlic fries. I'm glad Jack's doesn't have any SoCal locations, because I'd want those garlic fries every day. We stopped by here on our way to Apple Hill last weekend, and everyone enjoyed their lunch. I had the grilled veggie sandwich and it was delicious. I wish I'd gotten a salad though, because they looked awesome. Service was good, and prices were reasonable. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area!

Been here several times. I'm not a sandwich person but I do like their tri-tip sandwich. And all their salad menu are all good. Their portions are huge and you must try their Urban Fries =) I am not a fan of blue cheese but its actually good with it..yummmy... Been to Jack's in dwntwn Sac and at FairOaks..And all staffs are cool. I'm a fan JACKS!

Honestly, I did not know what to expect when I walked in into the restaurant! My friend took me there for the first time and I wasn't expecting salads and sandwiches! LOL...But after trying the Spicy Buffalo sandwich and the Urban Fries, I am a HUGE FAN! The fries were so good and delicious! Whoever thought of the dressing and condiments for the fries is GENIUS! I will definitely go again when I am in town!!!! =)

Came here for lunch with my friend. Let's just say it was my first time and the food was just delish! I had a tri tip BBQ sandwich and also some of their famous fries! I love their fries with the drizzle of ranch and blue cheese delish! The portion sizes are big! I would eat here more often if I lived closer! My friend had a salad and it looked yummy, it was a lot! She got to pick out what she wanted to put on it. Around lunch time it does get busy, but be patient because the food is worth it! Also, it's sit yourself so save a spot! You can sit inside or outside and they'll bring the food right to you after you order! This place is delish!!! Go go go!!! Yum!!!!

If you don't mind eating all your caloric intake in one sitting then you have no problem eating the fries here. They are worth every lb gained! Different options but I used to always order the fries w/ chili oil and bleu cheese sauce (urban fries). Sounds weird but definitely a must have! Love the sandwiches and the pick your own salad choices. Also a great place to bring the whole family as there is something for everyone.

I have been here once before and the food was pretty good from what I remember. I originally wanted to eat at the Grand Central Station Grill on Sunrise, but it was closed. If you have not been here, it is like Pluto's; build your own meal with separate sandwich, side and drink stations. I wanted something a little substantial so I decided to order the BBQ Chicken Sandwich. It is described as, "Chargrilled chicken breast, chipotle-mango Barbecue sauce, crisp onion, ring, smoked cheddar cheese, leaf lettuce, tomato and mayo on a ciabatta roll." Warning: A small rant ahead: To something is barbecued or it is grilled, not both. The description and name are not consistent. What is Grilling? Grilling is the most common form of outdoor cooking. It employs generally high temperatures (350? plus F), usually using charcoal (either briquettes or natural lump charcoal) or a gas grill powered by propane. Grilling is done using direct or indirect heat. Often wood chips or chunks are soaked in water and added directly to the coals to give off smoke and enhance the flavor of the meat, fish or poultry being cooked. In the case of gas grills, containers are used to hold the wood chips as they are ignited by the gas jets inside. What is Barbecuing or Smoking? These two terms are often used interchangeably. Both involve generally low temperature (220?-250? F) outdoor cooking using natural lump charcoal or wood. This type of cooking requires the use of some sort of receptacle for water or other mixtures of liquid that is heated by the wood or charcoal to just boiling or simmering. This keeps what is being cooked moist throughout the sometimes-lengthy cooking process. Several types of specialty appliances are available or can be adapted for this type of cooking. Anywho, so how was my sandwich? It was rather, eh not good. The chicken was not seasoned, there was no crisp onion ring and the cheddar cheese was not smoked. I ended up eating only half of it and throwing the rest away. I'll say the garlic fries were good; plenty of garlic, nice, hot and crispy and seasoned well. I ate all of those, they were yummy.

I will not go here without getting the URBAN FRIES. SO VERY delicious. Also, the sandwiches are really good and the salads are pretty good. The chicken strips are WAY too salty, I can't even finish them because the salt burns my tongue. I usually get the buffalo chicken sandwich without the buffalo sauce or blue cheese which makes it just a fried chicken sandwich, very delicious. The original tri tip sandwich is great too.

When I am in need of comfort food, I think of Jacks. I like the downtown Jacks location best. There is a simple, straightforward line that moves easily. The lines in other locations are a bit convoluted and confusing. I usually get dark turkey meat with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce or a salad. It is also a great place to go for take out.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this place rocks my socks and who prefers Jack's over Pluto's. They've got a great cesar salad and scrumptious garlic fries - and everyone who knows me knows I love me some garlic.

  • kate r.

I do admit, their tri-tip is goooooooood. But paying up to $8 for a salad to-go? Its good, but not good for my wallet. I actually used to frequent the Natomas location more than this one, but I've found that the quality and consistency is similar. Its nice to eat at Jacks when you want a "sit-down restaurant" meal minus a few dollars. The number one thing on the menu is the garlic fries, they should battle Gordon Biersch to see who wins. Its tough to say which is better. Their mac n' cheese really sucks, I mean really, but I still find myself getting it because I'm addicted to starches, but don't take that as a recommendation.

When I lived in Sacramento Jack's was one of my favorite places to eat. That was however the one Downtown. I recently visited Sacramento and went to get a wonderful salad from my friendly neighborhood Jacks. When I got to the Jacks In Loehmann's Plaza at 9 last night, it was nothing like my previous experiences. I looked at the menu and ordered a Steak Salad, my previous favorite. I then proceeded to watch my salad be made and was rudely snapped at that my food would be pushed down to the register when I was done. I was shocked to be spoken to so rudely by someone working at a job where customer service is important . I proceeded to the register deciding not to have to have a confrontation with this rude employee. I then got to the register where the lady was nice, or so it seemed. My total for my $8.50 salad was $9.97, that is $1.47 tax, which is over 17%. Either the menus are wrong or the cashier was untrained. At this point in my frustration i just bit my tongue so i wouldn't explode, took my food and left. Then when trying to enjoy my overpriced salad, I kept biting into chunks of fat, no meat. This was the worst salad I have ever thrown away. I will NEVER eat at this Jack's location again!!!

Their salads are the greatest things ever! They're huge portions, and I love that I can see them making it right in front of my eyes. Chicken ceasar salad...I love their dressing! YUM!! Their garlic fries are also really good. Really chrispy and served super hot! We also have the tri-tip sandwiches, and those are really good as well. I like to eat outside on the patio when weather permits. Great place to people watch =)

The food is good, tri-tip always disappoints me when i get it.. I always go for the chicken sandwiches now. Urban fries are a lot better than the garlic fries, hint hint. Service isn't something to rave about since it's a counter-order-type-of-thing. Sandwiches are pretty pricey for the amount you get.

This place was very good. I had the California TriTip Cheese Steak. Very tasty. At first appearance, I was a little dissappointed, but then I took the first bite. The flavor over whelmed my senses. I would recommend this place to anyone.

just like Mary Grace V. [ yelp.com/user_details?us… said, "THAI SALMON SALAD = fuckin delicious! BBQ TRI-TIP SANDWICH = fuckin delicious!" good healthy food, good environment, and fast friendly service. might seem a little pricey ( $9 salad, $8 sandwich). plenty of parking in the lot out front, and theres outdoor seating.

I can't verify this, but about twelve hours after eating at Jack's I developed the worst case of food poisoning ever. I spewed and spurted for five days before ending up on a gurney with an IV in my arm. Two bags of saline later, I was finally able to stand upright again, nearly ten pounds lighter and barely coherent. (Don't ask why I waited five days - I didn't. I called Kaiser every day until they finally agreed to see me. I'll save that for another review.) Like I said, I can't confirm that Jack's salad led to my near-demise. I just don't know what else could've caused it. I'd eaten my usual breakfast that day then ate a late lunch at Jack's. I've eaten here many, many times and I always order the same thing: the mixed-greens half-salad with honey dijon dressing and a side of mashed potatoes. This particular day, however, I tried the caesar dressing. Mistake? Dunno. Overall, Jack's salads are hit or miss. Sometimes the greens are fresh and crisp; sometimes they're soggy and limp. The mashed potatoes are always good, at least by my standards. I like my taters thick, lumpy, heavy and dense. No complaints here. Service at Jack's is also hit or miss. They all seem to be high school students. Some are chipper; some are morose. It's just an assembly line so I don't really care how attentive the staff is, as long as they look clean. It took me a good year to get over my fear of eating at Jack's after the retch-and-runs incident. During that time I checked their review on the food inspection website and noticed they'd been cited for wiping out the salad-mixing bowls with the same towels they used to wipe the tables. Eeeew. They stopped doing that, however, and their recent inspections have been okay, so I have ventured back several times. Maybe I suffered some brain damage during my bout of dehydration, or maybe I'm just a sucker for a huge salad. Regardless, I still eat here now and then. I haven't had a problem. I think I'll always be suspicious, but I'm okay with Jack's...especially since my Kaiser doctor's office is a just short distance down Fair Oaks.

This place is absolutely delicious!!!! When I came to Sacramento, I was recommended to come here before trying any other place in town. Their sandwiches are soooo good. My mouth waters when they make it. Their garlic french fries are to die for but make sure to have gum handy! Definitely recommend!

Urban Fries are the BEST!!!!! also love the Buffalo Chicken salad but when they have strawberries in stock, I love to create my own mixed greens salad with feta, croutons, cucumbers, apples, walnuts, strawberries and grapes- soooooo gooooood! :) have been going here for awhile and can never get enough!

This place wishes it was Pluto's but its not. Its decent, but if theres a Pluto's nearby, stick to that. Jacks ripped all of Pluto's food off, and 1) PLUTOS OPENED IN 1995 IN THE BAY AREA. Sacramento just got one. Jacks opened about 5 years ago. 2) Jacks adds too much sugar to a lot of their foods. Im opinionated, but I'm also not retarded. Thanks.

Its weird, their food is very so-so, its ok but it doesn't scream come back, but for some strange reason, I find my self wanting to go back. I've been there 2 or 3 times. One of the times was almost a deal breaker. I don't know if I was just so starving that it made the food taste better or what, but I ordered in a big group with my coworkers and while I sat around watching everyone at my table finish eating I waited for my food. I'm not much of a nag so I waited a while. Finally I went up and asked where my food was and they couldn't tell me. It was a good thing that I had some cheese bread (YUM) to hold me over during the whole experience or I probably would have punched someone. They had to remake my tri-tip sandwich so I had to wait again. Apparently, when they ask for your name, just say the name of the person paying. They were so confused by a different person paying than ordering that they scrapped it. UGH. Its not that hard people. Whatever, I just want some of that cheese bread.

The girls that make the salads are deaf. I told them no mandarins the first time, and the girl put mandarins. Then the next time I went i said no walnuts cause im allergic,. and she was about to put them on and I had to scream to remind her. They are on autopilot. I like the urban fries though. but salad is better at Plutos.

This place is okay, but every time I go I leave confused as to why everyone I know always seems to rave about it. I have had various meals here, and my favorite is probably the chicken caesar salad (order a half size -- it is still huge!).

My husband and I are huge fan of Jack's. The urban fries are awesome and I love the salads. (I usually have enough for my meal and for lunch the next day.) He enjoys the sandwiches and has been a fan of the BBQ chicken. The only downfall for the Arden and downtown locations is the parking.

Just ate the chicken tenders. The BBQ sauce and ranch were hella good, not to mention the chicken was bomb itself. The fries on the side were nothin short of perfect. Perfect temp, perfect amount of salt, and just enough to fill you up. The atmosphere is great for the type of food. The workers are nice and the girls are good looking :) hahah

My sister and I ALWAYS get the caesar salad, It really good there.Their turkey and chicken are roasted... good on sandwiches...not those lunch meat the other place use. They have awesome sides orders: bombin' mash potato, great garlic fries, and mac & cheese. They also have some good lookin' workerS there...hehe

First time eating at a Jack's and the salads were pretty good. I had a Caesar salad with chicken and it was around $8.00 my friend had a regular salad where you pick the items you want on it. Both were reasonably priced and tasty. It got super busy after noon so don't plan on sitting around and chatting because you won't be able to hear yourself taking but for a quick good meal this is the place.

i love jack's. one of the best places in Sacramento. my best friend works here i always bring my family here from San Diego. they love the freshness. i love the so fri salad. its not on the menu anymore but that was my favorite by far. i always get the trip tip San which and even the mash potatoes. i love the decor of the place too. its pretty hip. food is a little pricey but it is way worth it for the food that you get. =)

I love Jacks. I would have given 5 stars, but damn why did they have to raise the prices so much? I can't justify paying almost $10 for a chicken caesar salad or almost $7 for a turkey sandwich (not including some side). Yes I'm spoiled with sides. hell I don't even pay $7 for a loaded sandwich from Whole Foods. the garlic fries and urban fries are yummy. their tri-tip sandwich and turkey sandwich are both good. I can go on and on about the salads. it's all good but be prepared to pay a grip for inexpensive food

i would give this place like 3.5 stars. Jack's specializes in salads and sandwiches and they're of consistent quality each time I have been there, which is A LOT since it is close to work. While the food at Jack's is not "fast food" as one would usually think of, take your pick of the fast food chain, they do server their food there very quickly and it is of high quality. THE SANDWICHES. I have tried all of their sandwiches their and my favorite is the BBQ tri-tip followed closely by the Jack's classic tri-tip. The sandwiches come by themselves and you have your choice of a number of different sides before you pay. Here i would recommend the mash potatoes and gravy. THE SALADS. I have tried most of their salads as well, and of course they will build one for you at your request. Of their traditional salads I would say the Chinese chicken and the steak salad are equally good and just depend on what animal you want to devour. Lastly, try their Urban fries at least once. VERY TASTY!!. Overall, if you like trendy casual eateries Jack's is the perfect place for you and well worth the visit.

This is my favorite lunch spot since college. The salads are always good, but I am truly in love with their urban fries and turkey club sandwich. The chicken, turkey, or any other meat is good and cooked fresh daily. The only problem with this spot is that it is always busy 12 to about 1:30 and the parking lot is terrible. I always try to either go at 11:30 when it opens or a late lunch.

great place for a fat guy to order a salad...it's sorta like a salad except big fatty style...all you heifers out there will not be disappointed. You can get basically a fruit bowl sized salad with all sorts of delectable blue cheese vinaigrette poured all over it with steak...yeah ...eat healthy you big liar pants!! I usually go to the original midtown location, however this location is a bit nicer... i.e. you dont have the scenic view of the 18th street with all the jawa like homeless peeps coming up trying to bum change off you whilst your dipping into your urban fries. Plus if your a downtowner you wont run into anyone you know...which is always a plus anyways, tonight i had the bbq steak sandwhich ....pretty f-ing tasty..but really there's two main things you have to get when you go to jacks... 1. mac & cheese... f you if you dont like it...that shits the proverbial bomb. 2. urban fries... omg so delicious...uuuhhh spicy blue cheese..hells yeah. now...if only they could combine the two p.s. the place is always crowded but they get through the lines fast....so dont be intimidated by the massive folk in line for their "health conscious dinner"

Jack's Urban Eats is a great place to get a big salad. You can choose your lettuce and a variety of toppings for a decent price. I usually order the Caesar Salad with double chicken and it's awesome. They also serve sandwiches, meat dishes and much more. I highly recommend their urban fries, which are covered in bleu cheese and spicy chili oil. So tasty! On a weekend or at the noon lunch hour, there can be a crowd. I'd recommend coming early or late.

Jack's menu mainly consists of salads, sandwiches, carved meats, fries, and other sides. I almost always order a salad. This time, I ordered the "Spicy Buffalo Salad". For $8.95, it includes "crisp fried spicy chicken, romaine, apples, honey-glazed walnuts, carrots, and celery with blue cheese dressing". I substituted tomatoes for the carrots, and got ranch dressing in lieu of the blue cheese. The salad was really yummy. The best part was the spicy buffalo chicken. It tasted like fried chicken strips coated in buffalo wing sauce. Yum! The other toppings were good too. Waaaaaay too much celery for my taste, so I think I'd substitute that one out next time. Other items I like are the fries: the garlic fries taste just like the ones at a Giants game. My faves though are the Urban fries smothered in blue cheese and chili oil. Other tasty sides are the cheesy bread and the mashed potatoes. As far as the service goes, the employees don't seem too terribly happy to be working there. They are pleasant enough, I suppose, and will make your food for you, but they just don't seem to be really friendly, or going out of their way to make you feel like they care. I'd suggest sitting in the nice outdoor seating area to avoid all the congested noise inside.

Best tri-tip sandwich I've ever had! My bf and I always make a stop here before going to Ikea to walk it off. I love the atmosphere and the chalk art canvases. It is always busy and crowded, but we always manage to find a table or eat outside at the patio when the weather permits. Service is great and fast. I usually get the BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich ($7.95) It consists of chargrilled tri-tip, chipotle-mango barbeque sauce, crisp onion ring, smoked cheddar cheese, leaf lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a ciabatta roll. I have tried the California Cheese Steak ($7.75), which has chargrilled Tri-Tip, pepper jack cheese, sautéed mushrooms, roasted peppers & onions, spicy aioli on a ciabatta roll. I love aioli, but I didn't care for this sandwich's overall taste so I went back to the BBQ Tri-Tip. I like having the deep fried onion ring in between my ciabatta and juicy tri-tip. Their tri-tip is chewy once in awhile if you get a thick slice. However, it is usually tender and tasty. Gotta love the wedge of pickle they serve on the side! You get lots of fries with your sandwich for $1.75. Garlic fries are fresh, but a little bland, so I go for the garlic mashed potatoes sometimes. Haven't tried the soup or salad yet. They do look appealing at the open kitchen!

Just had lunch here yesterday on a beautiful Sunday with friends. Loved the Western BBQ Steak salad and Urban fries! I actually tried all 3 fries (regular, garlic, Urban) and they were all tasty! I love my fries!!! Also tried the Spicy Buffalo Sandwich but the chicken was a little dry. Nice outdoor patio in Loehmann's Plaza, but tables were not large enough to accomodate party of 9 so we had to sit at separate tables.

I love Jack's. No matter what mood I'm in, I can find something I like. All of the salads are great although my favorite is the Southwestern. Today I ordered the Jack Classic with turkey and garlic mashed potatoes. Other times I've stuck to Mac & Cheese or roasted veggies. Lunch time can be tough at Jack's in midtown; and for that matter, so can weekend dinners. I've always found the service to be friendly and fast at both the midtown and Fair Oaks locations.

Three F's for Jacks: (and these F's are good ones!!) Fast Fresh Finger-Lickin' Good When this place first opened in Loehman's Plaza it instantly became the place to go and the place to be seen. I don't think that I have gone here once without running into someone I know, but then again Sacramento isn't that big I guess...but at least it is a place that makes you feel popular!! (well and in some cases awkward, if the person you do know here you really would have been fine with never seeing again ha ha) But onto the food. Two words: GARLIC FRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or their URBAN FRIES!!! Both are absolutely delicious, but don't try and eat a whole order of these on your own!! And if you can, then wow...you definitely should sign up for 24 hour fitness right away if you do! And their salads are all tossed fresh with whatever ingredients you want, but their chinese chicken salad, topped with freshly carved chicken is one of the best I have had. And they have so many side options from stuffing!!! (yes, stuffing all year round!!) to mac and cheese to mashed potatoes and gravy!! The combinations are endless here!! The only downside is the lack of seating, so you may have to wait for a table.....but the food is tasty and affordable and all of it is basically made to order! Fabulous!

This is a place I will go out of my way to eat at. Fresh food. Great service. Affordable. What more can you ask for?! I'm in love with their "urban fires" that are a bit on the spicy side, but cooled down by the blue cheese.

Chicken sandwich was good, but the mac and cheese was overrated. I even like Boston Market's better. The second star goes because it cost more than ten dollars for the sandwhich, side of mac and a water. lame.

Love Love Jack's! I always split the classic turkey jack sandwich with no mayo and a side of urban fries. The sandwich is so yummy! There are caramelized unions placed on top of veggies and juicy turkey meat... on a super soft bun! The urban fries are pure heaven! The urban fries are deep fried shoe string fries with blue cheese, oil and red chill peppers placed on top. Might sound a little nasty, but believe me it is pure heaven! I am not a fan of blue cheese, but LOVE the urban fries.. The salad are great too! Great customer service, good quality food and reasonable priced!! =)' will be going back!!

I've been to the place more than 3 times already and it has made me keep coming back. I tend to order the same thing which is the cajun chicken sandwich, urban fries and the garlic fries - they're all delicious. If you order family size for the fries, you get a big helping of them. The urban fries are topped with blue cheese & spicy chili oil, while the garlic fries are topped with fresh minced garlic, herbs & spices. I prefer the Urban fries over the garlic fries just b/c you get more flavor & more of a punch in terms of heat but not too overwhelming for the palate. The garlic fries, I wish had more flavor to them. The garlic is not too pungent and I think that's what the mass prefers but for me I like my garlic to be a bit pungent so as to get the flavor out of the entire thing. The cajun chicken sandwich is comprised of blackened chicken breast, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo, topped with mango salsa. The sandwich is a good portion size sandwich enough to make a person full. The only problem I have with it is that the chicken breast is always too dry. I realize the chicken breast is mostly white meat (& is the healthy portion of the chicken) but there are ways to grill the breast without drying it out. I think to make up for the dryness are the salsa, the dressing and the vegetables, but at the end of the day it's still a dry chicken breast. Now my rating on service: In all honesty, the service was quick & fast. I get to-go often so I don't know what's it like to sit & eat there. But from what I've seen, majority of the servers are quite young. Some of the servers "on the line" acknowledge your presence (i.e. smile & ask what I'd like) while there are others that ignore you. But I've encountered a lot of the nicer servers there and I always have a friendly "have a nice day" with a smile at the end so there's not much to complain there. I guess you can say it's a hit & miss with the service. I don't recommend going in during rush hour as they get very busy, the wait is long, and that's probably when the servers get overwhelmed and that will show on their faces. My 4 stars goes to the food, and probably a 3 for the service.

Full Caesar Salad w/ Grilled Chicken is all you need to know. Add a couple pieces of Cheese Bread and it's a meal for 2, for under $12. The Garlic Fries are also bomb! I can't really comment on the sandwiches cuz I've only ever gotten the salad, but if the Chicken is any indication of quality of meat, I'd say go for it.

Have come back here several times for my Favorite Salad Ever, The Spicy Buffalo Chicken salad. Two strips of the buffalo chicken, spicy but not overwhelming. I love eating at Jack's. I've tried their location in downtown, Gold River, and this one. All consistently have great food. It is typically a lunch favorite for my coworkers and I at least once a week. My usual: Half caesar salad, urban fries, tri-tip sandwich, and mac & cheese. Their salads in general are very good with fresh ingredients and a good size. The half size is enough for most. Their caesar dressing is the best and I usually request an extra portion of it on the side. I don't like their chicken as it's dry, so I usually don't order it with chicken. I always have to have their urban fries. I was hesitant at first since I don't like blue cheese, but this blue cheese doesn't even taste like blue cheese. It has great flavor and is very yummy, you owe it to yourself to try it. Their tri-tip is good, the meat is moist and the bun is decent. I would like to try more of their sides as they look amazing, but I've only really had the mac & cheese which is always piping hot and flavorful. The atmosphere is casual; you make your order down the line and pay at the end. They have booth-like seating inside and then ample seating outside. It's always generally busy here, especially for lunch. Their food is pretty good and the atmosphere is casual. They don't really provide any customer service as they're so busy and it's so packed. The staff aren't really service oriented as they pretty much just take your order and bring you your food. Go definitely to try the food...it's delicious.

YUMMM =) That's all I got to say! I love this place! My favorite items on the menu are the "trip tip sandwich" and the jacks urban fries! SOO good! My ONE complaint was the waitress. She was so rude. She did not get us our water cup right away. When she brought our food to the table, she pretty much slammed it! She also put it on the veryyyy edge of the table which got me UPSET! She also had a grin on her face. Like, if you're not fit to work customer service, DON'T! Maybe she was having a bad though, so it's cool. I love the food so I'll definitely come back =)

This place had very tasty looking food, so I was really looking forward to my meal. I had ordered the cheese steak and the urban fries (which I heard was a MUST here). The fries were definitely good and it reminded me of cheese fries but replace the cheese with dressing. It had blue cheese sauce in the bottom of the plate with bacon pieces on top. Yummy, but a bit fattening. For my sandwich, I was somewhat disappointed because I actually got my friends Tri Tip sandwich placed in front of me, while my cheese steak was placed in front of him!! The Tri-Tip sandwiched looked much more delectable than mine =(. Although my sandwich was good, the Tri-Tip definitely looked better. I will probably recommend the Tri Tip sandwhich because it looked and I was told that it really was very very good!! I was stuffed by the end of this meal!! Another plus to this place is that it is very clean and they offer out door seating.

Ok, where to begin? This place is AMAZING. The only problem I have is the service. When it gets crowded, it'll get pretty hectic. The employees will shout "Does anyone want a salad or sandwich!?", to which one can get easily confused if you didn't know where to go or who to ask if you just wanna order the Urban Fries (which are absolutely exquisite, btw).

  • Leopard S.

I don't understand why people rave about this place. I mean, the food is okay, but let's face it, most of their menu I could make at home...for a lot cheaper. I had the bbq chicken sandwich, paid an extra $1.75 for fries and a drink came out to nearly $13. The food was lukewarm, and they weren't that busy. Their tables are not that comfortable to sit at if there are 4 in your party. I felt cramped and I couldn't sit comfortably. Better to eat outside-at least there you can hear yourself think. I'll only come here again if someone I know wants to...won't come here on my own.

My last few lunches at Jacks have been very disappointing. I always get a mixed green salad and add my toppings. The mixed greens have lacked greens and have been filled with romain instead. The toppings have varied in quality depending on my choices but my biggest complaint has been my urban fries! This is the one thing I enjoy the most about Jack's and unfortunately they have been horrible. Instead of having blue cheese crumbles they have been drenched in blue cheese dressing and the hot oil has been left out! Today we asked for some extra hot oil on the side and were given just oil with no hint of flavor. Although I've been a HUGE fan of Jack's for years I will sadly not be enjoying urban fries there any longer. :(

This place is so delicious! They are similar to Pluto's, but way better!! The charbroiled tri-tip sandwich is so juicy! I finished it all in one setting, which was surprising. But you can easily get full of half the sandwich because it's pretty well-sized. My younger sister loved her Jack's Club because the chicken was plump and juicy and it had bacon. She couldn't finish her's so brought her other half home for later. My older sister had a huge salad with spicy Buffalo wings on top, that even I found yummy. And I rarely eat salads. The line wasn't bad, we were served almost immediately. Service was good; a waitress came around ever so often to take empty plates off our table. The place was kind of crowded but we were fortunate to find a table. I'm so glad my older sister took me here, because I will definitely be coming back. The only complaint I had was that the garlic fries were too greasy. When I stuck my fork in one, oil oozed out of the fry. -_-

First of all, the Urban Fries are amazing! I will be returning soon just for these. Family size.. just for me. Five star for the fries The sandwich, BBQ tri-tip, was just eh. Onion ring in the middle was very hard and messed up the texture of everything, the meat was kinda dry, and the bread was pretty hard. It could have been better. My girlfriend ordered the Sante-Fe salad, and that was pretty good, very large too. Definitely a full meal. Besides the sandwich, everything else looked great. The service was excellent. I'll go back again soon and give it another shot with a different sandwich.

I'm sooo done w jacks. Years ago they had great fresh food and very tasty. But now... 1. Watered down salad dressings 2. Old salad greens that taste like stay-fresh 3. Teenagers who work there just dump ingredients in salad at weird proportions. 4. Teenagers who work there are annoying and so busy talking to each other they don't listen, make eye contact or care about customer. 5. No gloves and teens who work there look dirty. 6. Food is bland and sloppy. 7. Veins in Tri tip. All the time! Place went down hill and now barely edible!

This place has great quality and the food is always made to order. I've ate the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich and BBQ Chicken sandwich from here. My boyfriend has had the Create your own salad and Jack's Classic Chargrilled Tri-tip. In addition, the garlic fries and Urban Fries (blue cheese/spicy chili oil). Not all at once :) From the two sandwiches I've tasted, I really loved the Hawaiian. Everything on it from the bread, pineapple to the grilled chicken made this sandwich awesome. I thought it was the best Hawaiian sandwich I've had in a long time. The BBQ chicken was great too, I loved the crisp onion rings. I do have to admit that I just had the regular bbq sauce because I can't take spicy things. It originally comes with chipotle-mango bbq sauce. Since I didn't get to try the blue cheese fries and the tri tip I just asked my bf and he really loved it. The salad was perfect because you can pick whatever 6 ingredients you want in it and that is always cool. The garlic fries were really good too and if you like garlic, that is one thing you have to get. I just love how everything is made right in front of you and you can tell the quality is great.

Consistently good food and fast service. Most if not all of their food is fresh. The only downside is that during the lunch hours, parking becomes a problem at this location. Other than that, I would definitely recommend and have been a customer for over 10+ years at this place.

had the tasty tri-tip sandwich, however I think they should cut it up more. I ended up pulling out most of it whenever I took a bite, hence, vury vury messy. The fries, and by "fries" I mean regular, garlic, and urban (yes, all ordered at the same time) ARE.THE.DEVIL. I am ashamed to admit that I finished all three, with minimal help from my lunch companions. fantastici

Nothing special, just a bunch of overpriced salads and sandwiches. I had the Buffalo Chicken Salad ($9). It had two breaded chicken strips, like what would be served on a kiddie meal, except they were drenched in some sort of "Spicy Buffalo Sauce", which tasted like it came from a bottle. The salad was way overdressed with blue cheese dressing, which was extremely bland. The choice of apples in this salad was questionable, as they were not crunchy enough, and added a strange taste overall. This is the kind of place that serves adequate food that people who either don't know or don't care RAVE about. It's a trendy spot that will be gone or forgotten in a year or so...or at least I hope!

Ive been coming to this place for years. Try the buffalo chicken salad. Best this about them is you will be in and out FAST. Urban fries are the best item on the menu.

I have been coming to this location for a long time now and just had to write a review. Not only is the food absolutely amazing, be it a sandwich or my favorite, the make your own salad, but the service is fantastic! I'm blown away at how friendly the staff is every single time, and how willing they are to do anything they can to make it a great experience. Definitely recommend them for a fairly cheap, delicious lunch!

The last time I went to Jack's Urban Eat's was downtown. I loved it there. They gave me a lot of food and the food was hot. This is the first time I tried this location and it was really crowded and I thought we couldn't get a seat. But we did and I was hoping my plate of turkey and mashed potatoes would be filling. But I only got like 5 medium pieces of turkey and they spread my mashed potatoes to make it look like there was a lot. It was not very hot, in fact it was just warm. I was not impressed this time and had to go across the street to Ettore's to get a piece of cake. I do have to say their salads looked amazing but I don't know if I will return.

Hadn't been to this location of Jacks in quite some time. Took a friend, from out of town, and we were both pleased. Line was not out the door like in the "old days" which was nice. Service was pretty quick, staff friendly, and food was very tasty. Plus it was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy the weather. I think it's a very good value for the money. It's a 4+ star in my book.

Ahhhh Jack's. This location in particular was one of the usual High School joints for me, and it was always delicious. Everytime I swung by after a grueling day in class, I would either get the Tri-Tip or The Club, or a hearty salad if I was feeling particularly healthy that day. Now while both sandwiches are well made and were tasty, neither dish sum up how I feel about this place. It's about the Urban Fries, people. Crispy, perfectly salty-fried spud goodness, drenched and smothered in creamy blue-cheese sauce, and topped with a little spicy oil for a needed kick. Is it unhealty? Well, maybe. Is it absolutely delicious though? YES!!

It's ok. I ordered the classic tri-tip sandwich and fries. Tastes like a normal tri-tip sandwich to me. Certainly not worth the $10 I paid for it.

Jack's is grrrreeeeaaat! You can always find something here no matter what mood you're in. The even better part about Jack's...it's SUPER fresh and they prepare it all right in front of you! I love their chicken strips basket and the garlic fries. Their salads are also always superb. The only reason I give Jack's a 3 is because it isn't FANTASTIC. It's just a cool spot to grab a bite to eat when you're hungry. My favorite location is definitely the one in midtown; it's a blast to ride you're bike downtown on a hot summer night, while everyone one else and their mothers are out on their bikes as well.

I literally crave Jack's on a regular basis and I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place by now! Where to begin.... Urban fries! If you're looking to break the calorie bank, check these out. Fries covered in clue cheese dressing and crumbles topped with hot chili oil and red pepper flakes. So. Freaking. Good. My usual stop is a made to order custom salad. One full create your own salad with mixed greens and balsamic please! Not only do they have their own lineup of delicious choices, but you can also customize a salad to your choosing! They have at least 20 different items you can add, including a protein! When my body is craving veggies, this is where it's at! They also have a carving station where you can order sandos and meat options. I love the BBQ chicken sando. Marinated chicken with an onion ring and fresh veggies! Lastly as you make your way to the register you will find an area to order drinks/beer/wine and sides. As in mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, cheese bread, Mac and cheese... All amazing options. This location is pretty small and gets full pretty fast but they are moving down a few spots to the old Scott's Seafood location so I'm hoping it will be less crowded there. The lines get long but it's worth the wait! I deducted one star just because I tend to laugh at the sometimes cluster eff service, but it in no means will away me from my devotion to Jack's!

Exactly like Pluto's, except, for some reason, better. I usually get a salad with tri-tip, never tried the sandwiches, although they look good. Not really feeling the shopping center, reminds me of Danville, a place I'm not all that into, but have visited on multiple occasions for reasons I'll never admit to. I think I need to find some new places for my next trip to Sac...

Eating a hot heavy meal in hot weather doesn't do my body any good but a good hearty cold salad is just the ticket., and the afternoon air wasn't bad so seating outside was a plus. Did the "create your own salad" thing and opted for the mixed greens with red onions, peas, garbanzo beans, jicama, carrots with tofu tossed with the Thai vinaigrette dressing - YUM. A full order was a bit on the too much side, but it was so good. I could just eat a plate of their tofu all by itself =) I ordered my little one the sliced tri-tip steak with cheese bread and a side of broccoli...too bad the meat was so dry (and bland tasting). My cousins shared the urban fries - good, different...but heavy & greasy. Remorse set in I guess afterwards because I had such a good & healthy salad before I tore up on the fries... :P

This place is not bad...loved the garlic fries!! The prices are decent and you order first and pay, then sit down...so it's a nice casual place to go with friends or for a snack, too =)

I ate at Jack's for the first time yesterday for lunch and... no. Please don't make me do it ever ever again. So anyway, my boyfriend and I had never been here before, and weren't informed of any details as to how the serving went or anything. We get in line, approach the preperation counter- and are ignored. So we assume, "Maybe this isn't like Quiznos where you order your stuff here and go straight to the cashier?" So we trudge on and order a plat e of garlic fries and 2 tri-tip sandwhiches. The cashier asked us when we paid whether we already ordered down there at the end of the line or not. We tell her "No, we didn't know we had to." And she told us that's fine and shortly afterwards got us our drinks and plate of garlic fries. A good 25 minutes later we realize, "Where the hell are the sandwhiches?" We've never been there before, and we didn't want to jump into any conclusions, so we debate for awhile. The resturaunt was emptying, a ton of people who ordered after us got their food already, and now all the kids at the counter are chatting. We came to the conclusion that we should ask where our food was. The girl says to my boyfriend, "Oh, did you order down there?" And he goes, "No, I said I didn't" And she says okay, whatever and gets us our food. I guess she didn't want to admit she forgot? I don't know how it makes any sense to inform her already we didn't f'cking order beforehand, and somehow get our fries, not our sandwhiches. Whatever. My real issue isn't there shitty service. It was the food. Although it tasted okay, I thought the garlice fries could've used a bit more garlic, and the trip tip was a bit dry, good, but no where near the best ever. Very over-priced. But thats not my main complaint. My real complaint is the fact that that sandwhich gave me the worst case of the runs ever! Oh. My. God. And I'm positive it was Jack's because it was the only thing I'd eaten that day until I started getting sick and it is still affecting me right now. I will never venture into this resturaunt ever again.

Triple digits on the thermostat means a big crisp salad for lunch... But of course once I spied the Urban Fries on the menu, there was no resisting. The were great! Fries were crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, and smothered in blue cheese and chili oil. Deelish! The premade salads are all topped with various meaty offerings, so this veggie-saur opted to make my own. It was good, and the ingredients mostly nice and fresh, but still more soggy strawberries and yellow lettuce than I'd prefer. My only other complaint is that I think $2.25 for a fountain soda is excessive, even with refills. Nice place for lunch, I'd go back!

  • Blia L.

I've been to this location a couple of times and I still feel like they're just ok. It's probably because I'm not too partial to American Grill, but I haven't had anything here that makes me say 'wow'. Their salad is a bit expensive for the portion that is given, the Jack's Urban fries are really tasty, and the mac 'n cheese is ok. Overall a bit too oily for me. I like the outdoor seating and the staff is usually nice; they'll bring the food to your table.

This place is smart. The place looks urban, trendy, and hip. Great way to market to the younger crowd. Everything's pretty much prepared fresh and quick. I believe their garlic fries are the best I've tried ever!!

The idea behind this place is wonderful, but the execution of the idea is HORRIBLE. I gave this place so many chances because their product is delicious, but to many charred sandwich rolls and the worst customer service I have ever experienced drove me away. Also disturbed the woman who often puts together the sandwiches wears nail polish and no gloves. What does this store do when the health inspector arrives? "CODE RED EVERYONE PUT ON GLOVES!" Smooth Jack's, very smooth. Word to the wise though: your attractive hipster staff is actually driving people away with their deplorable customer service. Dashing looks aren't so dashing when you're taking my order with no communication and you're mouth breathing.

ZOMG! I love jacks! A great place to get a quick healthy meal. I went there today to get a to-go salad and to my surprise, I was handed my salad in a recyclable biodegradable box! Way to go jacks! Way to go green! Now lets talk organic and non GMO. ;)

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR A SALAD!!! I always do the "build your own" but the signature salads are pretty amazing too. The bbq tri tip sandwish is up there to in my favorites. The Jacks Urban fries you must get if your a virgin to he Jacks experience. Their food is fresh and made to order right in front of you which I love. You pretty much can not go wrong with anything from their menu. A lunch time staple. Love you WHitney!

I haven't gone here too often, but the thing that always brings me back here is the steak salad. I absolutely adore mixture of flavors, from the cheese to the dressing mixed in with the steak and the pieces of cranberry (i think?). If you love steak but feel guilty because you've been eating to much red meat like I have, the steak salad is for you.

  • Lindsey W.

This was the 1st time I came here and wasn't that impressed. I was told that the steak sandwich is to die for - I could have made a better steak sandwich. The meat had no flavor to it, it was on a roll with carmelized onions and lettuce. It would have been nice if there was some horseradish mayonaise? we also got the garlic fries - super greasy w/ garlic on top - i would have rather had mcdonalds french fries. this cost me $10, ;( . I heard that the mashed potatoes are good and the macaroni and cheese but that's not enough to get me to go back.

Food is tasty, a cool place to have a casual meal, but the service can be a little spotty at this location. Overall this is a place that I frequented often because the food is good and it is nice place to get something to take out and bring home after a long day at school or work. My personal favorites are the tri-tip sandwich, chicken sandwich, a build your own spinach sandwich and just about every side is very good. The only bad experience with the food I have had is that once I ordered some asparagus and it seemed like it had been out too long and was dry and a little cardboardish. Some tips you have to be proactive when ordering, if you are getting anything other than a sandwich move past the people in line with salad orders and put your order in because the ordering is separate. If you do order something hot you sometimes have to check up on your food to make sure they don't forget it. Also eating out on the patio is very nice and is usually the best place to enjoy the great food. I had some problems with the service here a few times my fiance and I would split a salad and some frys and they would forget to bring us the fries. Most of the people who work there are younger and can be more into talking to each other than helping customers even though it always seems well staffed with people.

Kind of tired of Pluto's for salads so we checked out Jack's. The taste of my steak salad was overall good but the quality of the lettuce was pathetic. I don't want to see brown edges on my lettuce - blech. I asked if someone could bus our table. A guy comes over to do it and buses the table NEXT TO US while we're standing there with our plates waiting to sit down. I asked him if he could start with our table first and he gave me this 'look' and said he'd be doing both at the same time. What?!

What happened Jack's? You used to be my standby for a good sandwich and glorious urban fries but no longer. We went there today and paid $28 for 2 sandwiches, a family urban fries, and 2 sodas. Now, I used to order a salmon sandwich (which isn't on the menu) until I figured out that I was being charged for a Veggie Sandwich and a side of salmon so that made my sandwich over $12 so I thought I'd be more economical and switch to tri-tip. Then my sandwich (the bbq tri-tip) comes out and the bread is burnt...really burnt. Then my roommate's sandwich comes out and his bread is totally normal. So I ask the girl delivering his sandwich if our sandwiches are served on the same bread and she looks at his normal sandwich and my charred mess of a sandwich and says, "yep" so I ask if I can get some more sauce to cover the burnt taste and that doesn't phase her. She just brings the sauce and leaves. I had to search for blue cheese on the fries and the chili sauce was nowhere to be found. Sad face...

The make your own salads are awesome. The meat you can add is sometimes hit or miss. i've gotten steak a few times and it was rubbery. The urban fries are awesome! I love the fries. They are always so crispy and hot. This is one of my favorite places in Sacramento.

Jack's is one of my favorite quick lunch spots in Sac! I love the salads and their sandwich selection is great too if you're resisting the urge to be healthy. The parking in Loehmann's plaza is really annoying, the one downside.

The food is actually extremely great. Salad bar and sandwiches with fresh meats. Quality is fantastic. What really brings this place down, is the people who are hired to work there. Most anytime I've ever been there, the staff is talking amongst themselves and act like you should be ever so lucky to be served by them. Virtually ignore you like you're a bother. The blonde girl, about mid to late 20s is the worst. She is rude. The last time I had been there, she had completely prepared the wrong order. When I returned to fix it, she's didn't apologize, instead said she heard something different, remade the order and told me she wouldn't charge me extra for the wrong item she messed up in the first place. Insult to injury. From now on, I go the the Jack's in Natomas.

Jack's Urban Eats is a fast casual chain with salads, sandwiches and more. As a fast casual restaurant, prices are a little higher than quick service, but the menu is a step above. There are a number of different salads, all of a generous size. They have tri-tip, turkey, and chicken sandwiches. Their trademark Urban Fries with blue cheese & spicy chili oil are delicious. The Loehmann's Plaza location, as well as the Gold River location, is always busy at lunch time. It isn't labeled but there are actually two lines; one for salads and the other for everything else. Place your order then move down to the cashier and pay. If your food isn't ready by the time you cash out, they'll bring it to your table.

  • Helena W.

When I used to work in Loehmann's Plaza I would eat here everyday and I really never got sick of the food because although the menu is not very expansive they have a lot of different taste combinations with their ingredients. This location is very popular with a lot of high schoolers (Jesuit, El Camino, Loretto, St. Francis...) The line can also be out the door during lunch hours which can start as early as 11am and usually ends around 2pm. I've pretty much have tried everything at Jack's and what I recommend to do is to get a bunch of side orders. You'll save money and get more food that way. Seating can be hard to find so you might have to sit at the counter but the bussers are pretty fast there so you should never wait too long for a booth or table outside. Here's my list of what to try at Jack's: -cheesy bread (if you want they'll make it fresh too, they usually won't serve it if it's been sitting there if you don't mind waiting a couple minutes) -mashed potatoes (they usually have regular or a specialty one the three cheese or the sour cream and chive are great) -vegetable of the day (they can even make brussel sprouts taste good) -tri-tip (they use this in their cheese-steaks and it's fresh throughout the day) -any of the salads (you can have one custom made too and they have a bunch of fresh produce to choose from) -urban fries (some kind of spicy oil with blue cheese dressing, it's good) Whatever you get wash it down with a sparkling Pellegrino and it will be great.

My mom and I had takeout from Jack's tonight. We shared a small salad topped with tri tip steak and the soup of the day, chicken corn tortilla soup. I haven't had Jacks for years since I moved to the Bay Area, and I'd forgotten how great the food it. I love the honey dijon dressing tossed with romaine and spinach. The small salad was delicious, fresh and crunchy, and was plenty salad for two. The tortilla soup was incredible. The corn wonderfully sweet, and the meat super tender and flavorful. I hope they have it again the next time I go. Also, the next time I'll have to get the urban fries... sure miss those! I wish they had a Jacks where I live.... It perfectly satiates a salad craving!!!

Every single Jacks Urban eats that I have been to has impressed me! The quality and quantity of the food will quickly make you realize why this chain is having such success and growing like a weed! There are to many delicious choices to get into here and I haven't even come close to tasting them all but the BBQ chicken sandwich is a must try! Customize your order and pick your sides. Feel free to wash down your meal with a nice cold brew! This is an order at the counter type of place so feel free to walk right up to the front and check it out! The food is great and the prices are right! I promise, you will not be disappointed!

Used to love this place, but obviously the economy or something has affected them. Ordered mixed green salad that was mostly romaine lettuce, very little mixed greens. Cashier doesn't even acknowledge I am there and crumples up my receipt in front of me without even asking if I would like it. I asked for a copy of my receipt and she reprinted it and said you can grab it off the machine right there. Customer service is king in this economy and Jack's has lost that and my business! I can find good food with better service.

Jack's is always a go to place for me. Be it the one in midtown or this location. This one is usually closer specially if I'm coming from campus. Just ate there with friends last night after a super long and boring seminar critique---got there an hour before they closed the food was still great, fresh, hot, delicious. Service fast and friendly. They did trip up on mine and my friend's urban fries order (gave us regular fries) but they were super polite and quick about fixin it. I love their steak salads and the urban fries are killa!

    - 1 star as it is overpriced for the value.Don't get me wrong the food is good and healthy but 9 or 10 buks for a sandwich or salad is too much !I do like the tri tip and bbq chicken sandwich.

We've been customers here for the last 5 years or so. Lately we've been taking more to go than dining in. Tonight my honey made a run for two salads after I had a craving. He was not thrilled about driving all the way to Jack's but he did just for me...too bad they gave us the completely wrong order and we didn't know until he got all the way home. Instead of two Santa Fe chicken salads we got two Western BBQ steak salads with nasty fried onion rings on them. Very disappointing especially when you have a craving. Shouldn't have to double check your order particularly when they aren't super busy. I agree with some of the other reviews about the service. Good looking Sac State students does not equate to good customer service especially close to closing time on a Saturday night.

Jacks urban Eats, this place is great! They are located all over the Sac area. I have been to all of them. Went to this location this morning. The wife and I both had salads. When you order a salad you get to pick lettuce, mixed greens or spinach. Pick your dressing, and then six add ins. One of my favorite add ins is the mushrooms. We also ordered Urban Fries (chilli sauce, blue cheese dressing) and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. The wife said the sandwich did not impress her, I thought it was pretty good, but I do think it would have been better with just the bread, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese. I have never had a bad meal at Jacks Urban Eats, and have probably ate at their establishments about 40 times. Great place, great Value.

Garbage. I just fed the salmon from the thai salmon salad to my dog. The brocolli from my friends salad was frozen solid. Everything else except the obviously terrible things were ok. Had to re-season everything. But the lettuce was fresh. The kids that work there were nice. There's an asian chick with a booty. Other that that. Garbage.

Great place for lunch! My favorites are the club, hawaiian chicken sandwich and the tri tip. My urban fry craving is what gets me in the door, so those are always my side. Everything is always fresh and yummy.

I love this place sooooo much but 2 times, including today, I have found little bug/gnats in my salad to-go and it's when I get home and I see them in the kitchen light. I don't want to drive back and show them and when I try to call the restaurant to notify management nobody answers. Bugs in my food ruins my day. I found them in the broccoli mostly so heads-up. I do love this place and it is so nice to get something healthy like a veggie salad for lunch. My husband gets the side dishes and fries every-time and loves them, he could eat at Jacks every day.

WEnt here for lunch to meet a co worker, the place was very busy and it was only 11:30am, good sign. My first time here and I had heard good things. I got a salad with chicken & water and it was almost $11, the salad was good but NOT that good for the price!! My friend ordered the garlic frys which were excellent! They lost a star for price, I personally would pick Pluto's in Market sqaure any day of the week vs this place. I will not be returning.

Jack's: highschool aged workers in a state of constant confusion, long and jittery lines of people, grab your own forks, what do you think this is full service....yes, it can be a bit of a sensory overload. However. I go to Jack's occasionally, when I'm in the mood for a Big Old Salad and don't feel up to making one myself. The system is thus: go up to the bar, indicate that indeed, you want a salad (people order other things?) and indicate which meat and salad variety will suit you best. Then wait as the kid behind the counter throws together the vegetables and the dressing, as another worker slices up some fresh roasted herb chicken (by far the best part.) Bata bing, you're done. The Ceaser features a tasty and anchovy rich dressing, along with somewhat fresh Romaine and tasty but too crunchy for your dental work croutons. I go the virtuous route and order the dressing on the side, you can have it mixed in if you're relaxed about your arteries. The chicken is delicious, especially when hot. This is in the region of seven bucks, which isn't too bad for the big box of foilage and protein you recieve in return. I tried the Thai salad today (Comes with salmon, got it with chicken). Pretty good - spring greens, bean sprouts, wonton strips, grapefruit, and cucumber, tossed with a little sesame seed oil dressing. Light, crisp, and refreshing, although the grapefruit chunks are a little big. This came in at about eight bucks. I don't get the "other" food, but the sandwiches look bready and slightly unappetizing. The rice bowls are your standard issue stir-fried veggies , chicken n' teriyaki sauce kind of deal - servicable if you're dying for something that doesn't involve fresh leafy greens or deep frying. In short, if you want something fresh and vaguely interesting and are too damn lazy to cook it yourself - Jack's may be the answer.

Went to Jacks today for lunch, the food is always great but the service is horrible. Its really only at this one location. The gentleman that took my sandwich order basically threw the order ticket at me after commenting "you're gonna want this". I used to work at Jacks so I know what protocol is and how people in the food industry should act. Every time I eat at this location the service is deplorable.

I've been going to Jack's since about 2003. I don't know what other people are complaining about? The food is great, it hasn't gone downhill. The employees are all friendly and they try their hardest to take care of you quickly. However, the main thing is the food. It's amazing. The sandwiches are delicious, the urban fries are the best damn fries I've ever eaten, and the salads are hgue. I always ask for a half to go and it basically turns out to be a full salad. Yeah the cafeteria style line can be annoying but seriously the wait isn't that long. People just really like to complain about stupid things. The only negative thing I've got to say is that there is not enough seating.

I have always like Jack's, I believe that I have done a review of the downtown one in the past? I can say that when I like a place, I will go back cause I'm loyal like that. I can say that if I dont ever come back to this location, I will never be sad. Extra fried Onion Rings = NO BUENO!!! I had probably about a good 6 rings that were digestible out of 15 rings. Back in the downtown location, the rings are golden brown, not doo doo brown. I hate ranch but that day, I had to drown my rings to keep it edible. I hate wasting money on burnt shit, but I salvaged a few to still enjoy. Second, my favorite sandwich from there, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was pretty damn tasty! A-Plus on that one. Once again, the half-salad my girlfriend ordered was like a never ending salad. Ridiculously good!!! Finally, I have to agree with the other yelpers on here. A particular staff member could have been much cooler than they think they are. I pretty much think that the salad nazi could have been a little bit more pleasant, but then again.."give your order, do not make eye contact, and do not complain"...or else no SALAD for YOU!!! She is the only one that irritated me. The rest of the staff is pretty damn cool.Next time I go, URBAN FRIES for sure...I dont know whats up with Jacks these days, but I have been getting some burnt ass Onion Rings? What gives???

So I went here for lunch, and it's pretty much JUST like Pluto's. But, I think it's better. Fairly priced, and good sandwiches and salads.

I am so upset after going here tonight that I never want to go back. The blond, wearing a green sweat shirt, working the register had her hair falling our of her ponytail all over the food. She gave me the smallest servings of mashed potatoes in Jack's Urban Eats history, also. I was getting the urban fries to go and had to wait like fifteen minutes, while the got all soggy, for one of my sandwiches. I guess they said they were cooking one of the chickens, but the lady in front of me had the same type of her chicken with steam rolling off it in front of me. I did not believe her at all. I think she was too busy flirting with one of the meat carvers to deliver decent customer service. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do find it surprising that Jack's rating is not higher. Upon visiting some Sacramento friends, they suggested going here, and sold it as a 'Pluto's-like restaurant'. I found this to be nothing of the sort. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the salad fixins were not wilted, and the meats were moist, warm and tender. We had the fried chicken salad, which I thought was very good. The chicken had the right amount of batter and the right amount of bones (none!). It had a tangy glaze, and topped a generous helping of romaine, with what I think was a Caesar dressing. We also had the tri-tip sandwich, which was also quite good. Again, meat was flavorful, and moist, and the bread was a good match for the meat. One last thing was that I wound up 'holding' the rest of my daughter's chicken breast sandwich. After taking a bite of what I thought would be something too dry, I was pleasantly surprised at its flavor and consistency, and wound up finishing it. Jack's is something that I would add as a regular spot, were it in my neighborhood. The prices are affordable, and the food is tasty.

Oh how I love this place. The food is consistently great, the place is always clean, and the staff is prompt and professional. If you haven't tried the urban fries you're truly missing out.

This place gets pretty busy at lunch which makes it close to impossible to find any parking. But it is all worth it. Their salads are great and they just added a taco salad to their menu, delicious. I absolutely love their hawaiian chicken sandwich and urban friend ... also from their sides the asparagus is very tasty. That meal alone would cost me about $20 ... pricey, yes, but a very yummy lunch to have when I have a few extra bucks at hand.

    (4)
  • Larry H.

I hear rumors that this place was hella good. However, it was not all that I expected. I had the chicken hawaiian sandwich and a side of mac and garlic fries. I probably should have ordered the tri tip or some type of steak. My chicken was all cold and the mac was plainbut the garlic fries was bomb!! I heard the urban fries were good, so I need to go try that.

Compared to the Jacks off of Sunrise and Goldcircle this one left a lot to be desired. The employees seemed complacent and the food was neither presented well or tasted as good.

I've never tried anything here but a salad and fries. The sides always look a little dry to me, so I've never tried it. I usually get the Caesar salad and add marinated tofu to it. Sometimes I'll add roasted red peppers, garbanzo beans, and broccoli as well. The prices are cheap, the tofu is really good and the urban fries are okay. I get them 50% of the time when I'm really hungry, but they're never as good as they look. My guy's gotten sandwiches, salads with steak on it, and soup. He liked all of it. Sometimes the food takes a little bit to come out, and the staff is usually friendly, but not out of their way helpful. The price, food, location and killer tofu keeps me coming back.

I've been going to jack's since i was in college which is a good 10 years back. They only had the branch downtown back then and it was always a treat whenever my mom would bring my brother and i a sandwich and some garlic fries. I love the atmosphere but most especially the food. I'm partial to the grilled chicken sandwich with an order of garlic fries. There was a time that their servings were massive but i noticed that with additional stores, they've cut back. Can't fool a regular! ;) the new cajun chicken sandwich is a keeper and the salads are also pretty good. Love this place! :)

So I've been to Jacks plenty of times. All I can really say is.....Urban fries! Whoever thought about this combination is a genius. The fries have to perfect mix of spice with the red peppers and savoriness with the sauce. I always get their trip-tip sandwich which always makes me happy. The mashed potatoes and gravy is a great side if you aren't feeling anything deep fried at the moment. They aren't too dry or too moist. I definitely be back...like always.

We love the convenience of this location, and are typically satisfied with our dine-in service... however, take out is a whole other ball game. Tonight we were jipped for the last time by this location. When we got our order home (crying baby = takeout time), we barely had what id quantify as side salads... that'd be fine except we paid for two full Caesar and buffalo chicken salads. So annoying. Thanks for $9 side salads. If we return to get take out we will definitely be checking our boxes before we leave. Very disappointing, Jack's.

  • Gordon H.

1st timer. Ordering process disconnected from those at the register. Lots of questions, confusion, more questions. Weak organizational design or execution. Maybe when they're all paid $15 an hour they'll magically pull all of their heads out. The tri-tip sandwich was good, nothing special. I don't know what the hell people are so enthralled by here. I went into the restroom and it's another neglected pig sty. I mention the men's restroom filth to a manager, who wants to confirm if it's both the men's & women's restrooms that need attention. I tell him I don't work here. Moron.

How can you go wrong with a build your own salad? Okay, it's possible, but not here! You can either make your own or choose from one of their already put together salads from the menu. The ingredients are fresh, and the meat is cut in front of you. Chargrilled tri-tip, oven roasted turkey or chargrilled chicken breast. There's a gluten-free guide available too. Just ask the manager. The food is reasonably priced! Not only do they offer salads but, they have sandwiches too in addition to a variety of comfort foods: mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, market veggies, soup of the day, and baked cheese bread. Then there's the good old fried foods: garlic fries, urban fries, french fries, sweet potato fries and chicken strips and fries. As you go through line you can watch them put together your salad. I thought the toppings were somewhat generous, a few of the items I did ask for more. If you make your own you have a choice of six toppings. That part I found rather difficult, lol The disappointing factor is the restaurant is set up like cafeteria style so there isn't much time to look over the items before choosing. This part of the experience was rather chaotic because they [the serving line] seemed to want to get you through VERY quickly. Having never been here before, I found it rather annoying. Even though the place was very crowded it seemed the staff were on top of cleaning up the tables rather quickly. They have outside seating as well. Don't forget to order your sourdough bread ~ it is scrumptious!!

so, so, good. I always get the Cesar salad with steak. most of the time I order the half order but it still feels me up for hours! their portions are HUGE & definetly worth the price. their bbq chicken sandwich (not pictured) is also delicious. the chicken is always juicy & the bbq sauce is sweet. the urban fries are definetly different than any other fry style. I'm not a fan of bleu cheese but these fries are to-die-for. the family size is pictured, and extremely big. I should've gotten the small... hahaha the prices can be a little high but you're getting a meal that'll fill you right up & the quality is fantastic!

This place is yummy! I believe I've been here another time with my sister and her family before. But I don't recall what I ordered. This time, I ordered the salmon. Wow! It's very spicy hot. My nose was dripping. I wasn't very fond of the pickled bits and I'm glad they put it on the side. I believe it was artichoke heart, olive, tomato and other stuff. T couldn't make out the spices of the salmon but it was good. However, it was verrrry spicy. You have been warned! I feel as if it was weird how the salmon was cut in different sizes. This is the most expensive item on the menu, and I felt jipped! I don't mind if the parts of the salmon are different, just as long as each plate is given the same portion. My sisters size was much larger than my cut which was more skinny and long. Hers was a square shape. The sweet potato was good but I wish the broccoli didn't have cheese on it. I absolutely loved the mash and gravy. It was creamy and sooooo buttery! We also had the garlic parm fries which were good but on the greasy side. My be ordered the turkey and gravy. It was good but it was weird how there wasn't any vegetables provided. I feel that if the other entree dishes have vegetables and potatoes on the side, so should the turkey. Overall, I really like this place!

So I hear a few people talking about this place and all the good things and so I go...Maybe I had high(er) expectations? I wasn't all that impressed, sadly. Don't get me wrong - I like the concept - build your own salad / sandwich deal but I left quite unsatisfied, it wasn't bad but it's wasn't all that great, ya know? I ordered the same as my lunch a date (their usual) the Santa Fe Chicken Salad, substitute tofu for chicken. I'd go back and maybe try something else off the menu but I'm going to be nice and give four stars for now because...I have faith...

    (4)
  • Gretchen Q.

Jack's is alright. I appreciate their Santa Fe salad. I like how you can also customize your salad. My boyfriend gets the burger usually, and it's nothing special imo. Their urban fries is pretty creative, but I wish it blends more onto something than adding new sauces. The seating is plenty. The place can be a bit cold, but good thing they have outside seating. The servers are very efficient and friendly.

  • Mylan D.

Their sandwiches and fries are amazing! If this is your first time here, you definitely have to try the urban fries! Urban fries are skinny crunchy fries drizzled with spicy oil, blue cheese and cilantro dusted on top! One of my favorite is the tri tip sandwich. It is freshly carved while you order and melts in your mouth when you eat it. Mmm I'm coming back soon!

Came here for lunch with my husband and although we had fast service during lunch, we were disappointed by the amount of chicken we actually received on our salads. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and he ordered the chicken Caesar salad, both of which had minimal chicken on them. My salad had two pieces and his chicken Caesar had chopped chicken that maybe equated to a couple tablespoons. The salad themselves were good, we just think they were super skimpy on the chicken for being $10 a salad.

Jack's is a great place to go for lunch but be prepared to wait in a bit of a line because this place is a popular spot. Another thing to be aware of is the parking situation. I think just about everyone from the neighboring businesses come to Loman's Plaza for lunch and the parking lot fills up fast. There are just so many great lunch spots in this shopping center! Jacks is one of my favorites! I usually order the buffalo chicken salad. The buffalo chicken is fried and tossed in a delicious buffalo sauce that will make you want to lick it off your fingers! They make the salad in front of you with fresh ingredients so it's easy to get rid of something if you don't want it. I always get my salad without the celery and I have never had a problem. They have a lot of seating at this location compared some of the others and even if the line was long to order, I have not yet had trouble finding a seat. Five stars for great food and very fast service!

Jacks is a fun place to eat if you're looking for an inexpensive and casual meal. Ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich last night and although it wasn't the traditional Vietnamese staple, it still tasted pretty good! I think my favorite thing about Jack's is that it satisfies the person who's on diet requirements, as well as the guy who just wants a big greasy meal. There really is something for everyone!

I've been here few times and I like their food. I love their steak salad, Chinese chicken salad, bbq tri tip, salmon plate with veggies, garlic fries, and of course their urban fries. Customer service is good. Staffs are really fast and they deliver your food to your table. This place gets super packed. They also have seatings outside so can't complain. I'll definitely come back.

I'm so glad that Jack's moved into Scott's Seafood old location. Where they were at before (which is now occupied by Beach Hut Deli) was way too cramped and got crowded easily. We got there around lunch hour on a Sunday and the place was pretty empty with only about three people in line in front of us. I got my usual (chicken strips with Mac and cheese). The dude who took my order was quick and thorough and kept the line moving since more people started showing up. The best thing about this newer location is that there are plenty of tables! At most Jack's locations, if you have more than two people, you sometimes have to stand and wait for a bigger table to open up. Here, there were plenty of tables and space to walk around. Once we all sat down, we were brought our food quickly and the orders were all correct. I happily finished my Mac and cheese (gooey and melty cheese - yum!) and my chicken was freshly cooked and not overly crispy and dry like some chicken strips can be. The fries were awesome and I loved dipping them in the BBQ sauce. This is definitely my fave Jack's location so far, I will be back again!

It's like a semi-upscale sandwich place. Jack's a decent place. It's certainly a lot better than a Mcdonalds or Taco Bell take-home lunch, but I wouldn't technically consider it a great restaurant. It's like one of those in between places to eat; not fast enough for fast food, not good enough for like a sit-down table service restaurant. The food is nothing too special, except the urban fries. Those are actually really good. I've tried a lot of things on the menu, the tri-tip sandwich, turkey, chicken, pork sandwiches, cesar salad. Like I said, it is all good but nothing too outstanding that pops out. I would definitely come here over Beach Hut Deli next door, at least the price at Jack's is reasonable. The portion sizes are pretty big too. The full salad is easily 2 meals and even the small size of the urban fries could feed two people. I like the location of the place. Its a nice little plaza with a bunch of other places to eat at. You could come here for lunch or dinner then walk over to nothing bundt cakes or pinkberry for dessert. Jack's Urban Eats is good for a quick lunch if you want something better than the bland sandwiches from Subway.

I've had a love affair with Jacks for years. That alone should attest to their consistency for great food. I've eaten at four of their locations and the food and service has been the same at each location, which is pretty impressive. I love their salads, soups, and the sandwiches are good too, albeit a little pricey, but the meat is high quality and usually carved right in front of you. However, for me, it's all about the urban fries. Yes the garlic fries are yummy too...but the urban fries? Can't beat them. And I don't even like bleu cheese! On anything! I'm a ranch dressing girl through and through! But the bleu cheese just works so well with the hot chili oil drizzled all over those crispy hot fries. This location is busy most of the time, but they keep the line moving pretty fast.

My first time eating here. The line wasn't too bad of a wait. I ordered a Banh Mi sandwich and a pull pork sandwich. As well as some fries. The Banh Mi, taste wise wasn't really what I expected. Did not taste like the original Vietnamese sandwiches. Pull pork sandwich was on point. The meat was flavorful and juicy. I would get it again. The fries were on the bland side. All in all, I would come here again.

Wow, best lunch in a long time. The fresh ingredients, the fast service and the giant sandwiches fed our crew with left overs. We didn't have a salad but will be back for one, they looked delicious.

  • David T.

I'm glad I got to try this place out. With that said, I got there at lunch time when they were super busy which I wasn't complaining because the line went by super fast. I got the Mac and cheese while my friends got the turkey sandwich I believe and steak salads and one of there soups, which I do not know what it is, and also 2 garlic fries and 2 urban fries. Btw, there urban fries were bomb!!! The food was so good i was a bit speechless. It wasn't over priced either so good food good price!! However there is a lot of dining tables where you can sit inside but majority of the tables were just tables just for 2 so we couldn't sit inside since all the bigger tables were taken and since then we had to eat outside & it was super cold so that was a negative.. Not to bad though, but they should have more bigger tables since there are so many families that come and enjoy meals here. Most definitely coming back next time. Super excited for my next visit as well!

I love this place. Great salads, meat, sandwiches and yummy sides. My ultimate favorite are the urban fries! I also love the brewed flavored tea. They have a larger location at Lohmans Plaza. Nice outdoor patio. They're always busy. Parking can be a pain but worth it.

People around these parts love them some Jack's. It's apparent when you walk in to a long line during any day at any time. I'm one of those people, which is why I panicked when I drove to their Loehman's Plaza location only to find they were...gone. Thankfully, my panic subsided when I discovered they had moved three doors down to the old Scott's Seafood location. The new expanded space is more conducive to the long lines. Within minutes after we walked in, the line was already stretching halfway across the restaurant. Fortunately, it moved fast and we were able to order within minutes. My wife opted for her usual make-your-own salad but regretted ordering it with the red wine vinegar dressing because it is so sweet. I went with one of my favorite standard menu items: the cajun chicken sandwich. The cajun seasoning, combined with the mango salsa garnish, is a fantastic combination. However, the chicken all too often seems to be on the dry side. If more care was put into cooking the chicken to its juiciest perfection, I could give this experience the full five stars. Pro tip: When ordering a salad, opt for the smaller size. It saves you a couple bucks and is virtually as large as the big one, which is far too much for most people anyway.

  • Rianna D.

Jack's is a great place to go to for lunch! Their salads are great, and I like to build my own since they allow you to choose which type of lettuce and dressing you want, with any SIX toppings you want as well. In addition to the salads, the tri-tip sandwiches here are pretty dang good, and the fries are as well! I would not hesitate to visit this location and I plan on going many more times!

I bought the Steak salad to go. I get home and there is no steak. I tried calling the restaurant and they just closed plus their answering machine doesn't take messages. Come on!

We went to lunch on a Sunday with our two-year-old son. The line was a mile long. There were no menus to look at while we waited in line. When we finally ordered the food was reasonably tasty. The chicken was moist and well seasoned and the asparagus was good too. But at the register I was handed two large plates plus a number to carry to my table and told I could get my own silverware and napkins and drinks. The cost for the three of us was somewhere around 35 bucks. Who thought of this concept? And why is it so popular? My wife's salad was the big problem. She ordered it with no olives. It came with lots of olives. She asked for the tri tip medium rare. It came medium well. And when it was delivered to our table it came in a to-go box. The young woman who brought it just kept asking if that was alright. And we kept saying no it wasn't because we were eating there and not taking out. At that point she turned around in a huff and marched off to have it plated. All in all a C+ experience at best.

I really enjoyed my trip to Jack's! Urban fries, BBQ Tri tip and their BBQ steak salad were all things I shared with my friends. All 3 items were very good and full of flavor. I really like the onion rings that were on top of the salad and in the steak sandwich. I will say the next time I went, I had the Vietnamese sandwich and I was not a fan!! It lacked flavor and I wasn't expecting such a flavorless item on Jack's menu. The garlic mashed potatoes are also something worth ordering. For quick eats I'll be back . . . I'm a fan!

This place opened when I was in high school and has been a main staple in my diet ever since. It is like the Chipotle of Salad bars with many other great sandwich and side options. Since moving to the Bay Area I make it a point to stop here whenever I am in town...and even was craving it so badly while in Petaluma for the day we drove to Santa Rosa to get our fix! (yes there is a location in Santa Rosa). I often build my own HALF salad with their many toppings, dressings and lettuce choices OR go with the classic Caesar. In my opinion they put too much dressing on their salads so I always ask for "light dressing." A full salad is for a giant it is so big. The Urban Fries are a MUST and very addictive. Their macaroni and many other sides are also very good, but sometimes sit out a little too long. This is a very popular place and during lunch and after school hours the lines at all locations are literally out the door and around the corner!

My girlfriend and I frequent here, at least come here twice a month. We are a fan of Jack's Urban Eats! The food is delicious! Service is great! You have to try Jack's Urban Fries and get the family size. You know your food is fresh when you can see how they make your food, which is great. One thing I would like to comment is how the line is set up. There's a salad line and a food line. If you are not familiar with Jack's Urban Eats, one could easily be confused or even upset that a person cuts through the line especially when there is a long line. They offer a variety of foods & I highly recommend Jack's Urban Eats to everyone!

  • Angela D.

First and foremost the food is good, but it taste the same any Jack's you go to. The rating of three stars is for the food, but I won't be coming back here for the sole reason that the service here is absolutely ridiculous. Most of the employees here are young and I'm going to assume it's their first job, but customer service isn't that difficult to have or even learn. First of all, the woman at the register didn't smile and looked at me with a straight face and said my total and THAT'S IT! Keep in mind the restaurant wasn't busy at all as I have seen the rush before. Then I waited a good 20 minutes for my sandwich to be made, usually it's a 10 minute wait given it was the spicy buffalo sandwich. The only thing I subbed was for a whole wheat bun. When I FINALLY received my order which I saw just sitting there on the counter, comes to my table gets my number and puts the food down on the table and walked away. No smile, no conversation or anything. To top it all off, most of the employees know the little high school kids that come here and are way too conversational. Please teach your employees some respect. The Jack's in Midtown has better customer service and will drive there to get food if I ever want to again.

Blah. & over-priced. Pretty much sums it up. The garlic fries, blah. The buffalo chicken sandwich, blah. The tri tip, blah. The mac & cheese, or lack thereof, blahx2!!! The best thing going is the lemonade! Where's the seasoning⁉ What's "urban" about this place⁉

Great food great prices! They need shirts with VW BUS like by register! The food in the stuff for wonderful. It's a great place for your family to come and have a good dinner. They need to design shirts like the VW bus for customers to buy and advertises they walk around the streets.

I used to love Jacks, but lately it has been disappointing me every time. Today I was waiting on my meal for 20 mins, it was a slow day. So I decided to go check up on it and they completely forgot to start my order. The chicken strips are a total rip off, only 3 pieces and they're all bread, no chicken! The mac n cheese is also dry and flavorless. That place is a joke. They're all just a bunch of stupid teenagers. I'm done with Jacks.

Place is great! I usually take out, because when I go it's sort of full. But they have many great sandwiches to choose from. I usually get the steak sandwich, with urban fries, and also their steak salad! I can never get enough of their urban fries though! Can't wait to eat here again!

After doing some shopping nearby I was starving so my best friend and I decided to come here. I've heard the hype about this place before and never had a chance to try it until now. My bestfriend and I came around 8-ish and it was really packed. I mean the line wrapped around long. My friend said that the one she goes to which is in downtown sac was never this busy so I'm guessing this is the "it" spot for Fair Oaks people. Since I've never been I didn't know what to do. It's sort of like subway except there is a menu at the same time you're choosing what you choose to add. I went with the small vinaigrette salad, fries, mac n' cheese, and cheese bread while my friend just got fries. The wait was a bit long especially for what I ordered(simple) but I expected it since with all the people and what not. Had everything to go and ate the mac and cheese in my car. Wasn't as good as I had hoped and I love mac and cheese! The same thing goes for the cheese bread, it wasn't warm and hard for me to bite into. Other than those two disappointment the salad and fries were really good. I love the sauce on the fries and the salad was pretty fresh. Not sure if I would drive my out of my way to come here again but if I'm in the area I'll definitely come again.

Food is good....salads, grilled sandwiches, carved meat....simple food. A bit over priced, but still recommend. General service just average. Bus boys seem a bit challenged...sit around more than clean up. Recommend the salad.

I used to frequent Jack's quite a bit, and I just remember them being A helluva LOT BETTER than what they are. The past few times I have been there I have NOT been impressed. AT ALL. How do you mess up a salad?? Seriously? The only thing that seems to be done right is the Jack's Urban Fries. yep. That's all I got.... I do however, like the new spot, it allows for more seating.

I ordered a Santa Fe Chicken Salad to go. It was good, except that I found FOUR croutons in it, even though this salad isn't even supposed have croutons. This might sound like a stupid complaint, but I'm allergic to gluten and croutons are not okay. I specifically ordered this salad because it sounded safe. If this wasn't bad enough I also found a piece of plastic wrapper and a small black hair in the same salad. Really guys?

I really really don't understand the hype... They are just salads people!!! Food- 2/5. There is nothing here that I love. Or even really like. Or crave. The closest thing that comes close would be their Urban Fries which are french fries topped with blue cheese, chili oil and chili flakes. They are good and tasty, but once you get halfway though, you are out of toppings and stuck with plain french fries. For the extra $$$ they could include some extra toppings. The portion size for a small order of fries is enough to feed 2-3 people though. I am a huge mac and cheese lover, but their mac and cheese is bland, flavorless, and the shells are over cooked. The salads are salads. Anyone can put toppings on lettuce. The salad portion size is really big though and the small is more then enough for two meals. I cannot speak for the sandwiches since I'm a vegi. Atmosphere- 5/5. They recently moved to a bigger space which is very nice and big and open. Very well done and had a nice vibe. Just try to avoid the Lunch rush where the line spills out into the dining room. Service- 2/5. Rushed, few words. Staff seems to try and avoid eye contact and pleasantries. Vegetarian Friendliness- 3/5. Salads and Fries are vegetarian. All Sandwiches but one are not, which is very disappointing. Sides are vegi friendly as well. So if you are vegetarian and want a salad and a side this is the place. If you want anything else, go somewhere else. Overall- 2/5. I guess I just don't get the place because my coworkers love it. When they drag me here (which isn't often) I end up getting Urban Fries and having something else back at the office. I think all the flavor and joy must be in the meat... Because it's not anywhere else.

I wish there was a Jack's in elk grove!! This place is so delicious and offers healthy quick meals! I love that their food is seasoned but not overly salty and their vegetables are cooked perfect! I got the carved tri tip and lemon baked asparagus. It was an awesome price and tasted fresh. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and helpful. I will surely return for more tasty food!!

WHY WE WENT HERE: - catch up lunch with a friend THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - in a plaza, so there's a lot of other food businesses around - lots of outdoor seating - you can already tell from the outside that it was packed, which always makes me more excited to eat because that means (at least to me) that the place is doing something right to get people lining out the door THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - hustle and bustle of lunch rush - a lot of people with good company eating good food THE MENU/THE SETUP: - there are menus provided in little boxes on the wood panelling separating the line from the indoor seating as well as the wrapped line before ordering - ordering is like at Chipotle - you see pretty much everything the workers are doing - the cooking, the salad/sandwich making, etc. which is something a lot of people these days value because they like to physically see what is being put in their food and how it is being prepared - after ordering, if it isn't a salad, you're given a number (self-seat) to put onto the mini metal rack on your table to be delivered to you once your food is ready WHAT WE ORDERED: - Santa Fe Chicken Salad - Jack's Classic - (family size) Garlic Fries THE TASTE: - my friend and I both devoured everything - all food was on point and super delicious CUSTOMER SERVICE: - friendly - enthusiastic - professional

Absolutely love this place. Fast food convenience with a restaurant feel and quality. Must have the Banh mi and urban fries.

My first time. I was confused on how to order. They clearly expect people to just know. I had no idea what I should order or what's good here besides fries. So I ended up w chicken an fries and the same for my kid. $14. Really sucked. We just wanted to try some where new. Food wasn't impressive either an it's a long wait. Place looks nice though and the girls know how to smile.

this is a decent lunch spot. food is current with culinary trends, simple, tasty, & well priced. this time I got the California cheese steak with was under seasoned and the tri tip was overdone. fries were my pick for the side, they were well seasoned and piping hot. my wife got the BBQ pork and it would have been great if it was hot, she got the 3 cheese mashed potatoes which did not taste of cheese, the grave went well with my fries I got though. I will be returning to try this place again, maybe next time I'll try something else.

Normally I have decent service and food but today was not the day. I ordered a tri tip sandwich without cheese which is what they call the classic tri tip sandwich but they called it the BBQ tri tip with out cheese which happens to be more in cost I even said this to the cashier and she wouldn't budge and give me the lower price. The difference between the two is the price and cheese which I ordered no cheese. So here i am charged more for less. The employees need to really understand customer service. I think next time I will spend my $10 somewhere else.

Pure show. If you like to pay premium for marketing and decor this is your place. I ordered the tri tip plate with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The tri tip was cold, flavorless, mushy and chewy. Sides were passable. Sent the plate back for a refund. I will return to try their sandwiches since those might be within their true capacities as a restaurant.

Absolutely love their Urban fries! The 2 things I ever order when I'm here for lunch - "make your own" salad & Urban fries. I love their salad because they have crispy fresh lettuce and veggies! A regular size salad is enough for 2 people to share, but if you're not sharing then I'd recommend getting a half salad; it's plentiful. They allow you to choose your salad dressing along with 6 fruits/veggies to toss along with your salad. They do have a huge selection to choose from which is great! Their Urban fries are super delish. French fries mixed in with hot oil and ranch, YUM!! Definitely a hot pick on their menu! Cute interior decor; modern and sophisticated. Great service with friendly employees.

Rude. Slow. Prawns were burnt on salad. Ordered double prawns but apparently wasn't charged so we weren't eligible for paying the difference LOL. WHAT A JOKE. Confronted manager. She was rude. Didn't try to accommodate us. Overall, getting my wife to ever come back here will be when pigs fly.

Jack's Urban Eats is dangerously addicting. Everything I've ever had has been delicious. My usual is the Western BBQ Salad with Urban Fries. Extra steak and onion strings on the salad and extra blue cheese and chili oil on the fries. The staff are always super friendly and helpful in making a decision. Only thing i dislike about this location is the parking, it is a HUGE pain in the a$$. Loehmans Plaza doesn't have nearly enough parking considering how much business it gets, especially around lunch time. Jacks overall 5/5, Jacks at Loehmans 4/5.

Average at best. Service is nominal when ordering (they stand there expecting you to know what and how to order) and unattentive at check out. My salad didn't get added to our tab and the ticket came up at the register much later than everyone else's in our party. Maybe the girl thought I was separate but didn't ask. She also assumed we were taking to go. So we got our food served in boxes. Kids working the register stopped to have a conversation in the middle of my sister's order. Food was ok. Salad was super good, but the garlic fries were very greasy. They would be phenomenal without as much oil. Mac and cheese is creamy but bland.

Urban Fries! Simple yet amazing! I prefer my urban fries with ranch instead of blue cheese, but either way you can't go wrong. The food is always fresh and I love that you can see then preparing it right in front of you. Not much of a salad guy, but I usually get them here. Huge salads made anyway you wish!

The health department really needs to pay a visit to this establishment. There were bits of who knows what floating in my side of buffalo sauce, the meat is cold after just ordering it and the teens running this place have no work ethic. Stick to other Jacks, this place isn't worth the prices they charge.

First time coming to this Jack's since they have moved a few doors down! I really like how they have arranged the seating at this location. A very comfortable and social atmosphere. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad which was perfect for this hot summer day! The chicken was moist and the lettuce was very refreshing. I also got the urban fries which are a must have every time I come here. I've had better urban fries at the Jack's in Davis but they were really busy during dinner time on a Friday night so can't blame them on the slight decline in quality. Line was almost out the door but service was exceptionally fast. I would give them an A+ for that.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!!! I watched an employee laugh at the fact a customer put a dirty fork in the clean fork bin, and then didn't say anything about it or even go remove the fork!!! I, another customer, had to go do it!!! Idiots!! I wouldn't be so pissed but I watched her do it!!! Me and my friend originally went for Thai, next to Jacks. They were closed until 4 and we were on a time schedule so we decided Jacks was a fair trade. I wanted the Kale salad and my buddy had the new Vietnamese sandwich. That of which I can't remember the name. So we order and proceed down the counter to the register where I ordered a beer and paid for everything. While I'm waiting for the blond curly haired girl to ring up our order, the brunette girl is busy taking out orders. She comes back and is putting the order flags back on the counter and a customer comes in and asks for a clean fork, as his was dirty. She explains the forks are right behind him on the counter. So she is still watching him as he walks over to the counter, drops the DIRTY fork in the container, and grabs a CLEAN one. Here is the clincher... She laughs. Laughs!!! Are you freakin kidding me??? I want to remind you, I HAD JUST PAID! I was the next one going to that container of forks. In fact I pulled the dirty one out when I got there! I threw it on the counter and the one it was resting against on the ground. If I was my old self I would have lit them up right there. I held my tongue and am going to put this every digital location I can. Every social media page for Jacks Urban Eats I can find. They obviously don't care about standards. Especially because us patrons that go spend our hard earned money on their food and they cut corners in every way a business can, I can see what they are interested in. Not a good business for people to patronize, but just simply to make as much money as possible with as little standards as possible. I have been in the food industry for some time and find this completely horrid. Standards for our state have dwindled to a dying flame because of money and greed and the careless attitude towards individuals. Stupid people still know right from wrong. Anthony Babcock is acting manager of this place. If you feel the same way I do, send him a message. In fact let's all send them a message. I'm tired of attitude from people that are in the service industry. If you don't like your job go get another one. Don't make patrons suffer because you hate what you do! And WHOEVER is running the show over there, coming from a third generation restaraunteer, your slipping. You are being lazy and not doing your job. Whoever you are over there, Poop or get off the pot! If you can't do your job, step down and give it to someone who has a passion for what they do. Don't just stay for a paycheck. Your ruining yourself and taking others down with you. Completely irresponsible, as a business owner or an employee. I know it was just a dirty fork. The next time you see what I saw, how would you suddenly feel about eating there? Just sayin...

The food is good, and I think the sandwich options are solid. the service is great. My issue is that I think it's actually a little overpriced for what you pay, although the salad portions looked alright. A place to go if I'm nearby but I'm not going out of my way to go there again.

I want to love Jacks but I just can't. Every time I get a salad it is just blah and nothing great. Also, they used to have plain tofu you could put on any sandwhich for us vegetarians but now it's a marinated tofu which means you can not slap it on anything. I will say I do love the cheese bread and urban fries though. What really gets me though is that there is always a million kids working behind the counter yet most don't seem to care at all about customer service. The girls always have their hair down and barely tied back (it's a miracle I haven't found a hair yet) and they are typically dressed in outfits better suited for the streets. Maybe that's the appeal? A 20 something woman must not be their demographic. If your food is lackluster you at least better be providing excellent customer service in my book, and that just doesn't happen.

Consistently good. There's a great variety of foods to choose from and the quality has always been spot-on. Another bonus is that they're quick. I stopped in to grab a lunch to go and found a line of almost 20 people. I did the math in my head and realized that to go somewhere else would take longer than waiting in line, so I settled in to wait. I was SHOCKED when I was walking out of there with my food less than 10 minutes later! I also love dining here with my girlfriends cause we can sit at a table and chat for hours without worrying about taking up space in someone's section (since a server only has so many tables ie tip opportunities in an evening and this place doesn't have traditional servers). The location is great and there's so much more seating since they moved a couple doors down in the shopping center. The only drawback is the parking. Since there are so many good shopping and dining spots in this shopping center, it's always packed. If you're lucky enough to find a spot, odds are that you'll be sandwiched between your car and the one next to you when you try to open your door. Even if you drive a compact! I swear this lot must have the most narrow parking spaces allowed by code (if there's even a code?).

Great quick American food , for a fabulous price! Their salads are fantastic , my personal favorite is the Thai Prawn. When I am feeling like good old fashioned home cooked meal this is the place. Their line of of sides is great, from mashed potatoes and gravy to Mac - n- cheese. I am never disappointed.

when you come here remember to get the urban fries! i get the half salad and chose the six toppings--- cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles, red onions, eggs, croutons, and cranberries with ranch. they toss it up so the dressing is all mixed. then the turkey plate that comes with a side and a cranberry jam. instead of the plate ill opt for a sandwich instead.

im not a really big fan of sandwiches but jack's urban eats was pretty delicious! there are multiple locations here in sacramento and it always seems packed! the lines are a little long but it goes by pretty fast, you can see the fresh ingredients and the grill through the glass. they have a wide variety of different sandwiches, salads, and sides. i ordered the california cheese steak and it was just okay. nothing too spectacular. it came with tri tip, pepper jack cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. the bread they used was a ciabatta roll with a spread of spicy aioli. i wouldn't get it again. the urban fries were my favorite. it was seriously out of the world! i am so glad my friend got an order to share. the fries came with blue cheese, spicy chili oil and chili flakes. it's weird because im not a really big fan of blue cheese. i couldn't stop eating the fries! you can really taste the kick from the chili oil and chili flakes. you can see in my pictures that the fries were well seasoned. definitely recommend ordering! they had urban mash for their special of the day. i really enjoyed that too! it's another version of the urban fries. they also have gravy on top of it! very very delicious. the atmosphere was pretty nice. they had outdoor seating and they kept the whole place clean. the sandwiches look pretty small but it came out to be really filling. it was pretty expensive for the sandwiches ($8.25) but next time im just going to order the sides.

Pretty good, garlic fries is all-right, I loved the Nah Mi (or something like that) sandwich! Steaks and pickled veggies, cheese smashed potatoes is good!! Def try the urban fries! The reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is that it's a little expensive for what it is. Well like everything else. Really wanna try the salad.. Why Sac is soo hot..

Incredibly rude and snotty service. I went here and ordered a steak salad, as the girl started to make it, i asked her to leave off the croutons and apologized for not saying so sooner. The girl made a face at me, threw the salad in the garbage and said "Next time tell me BEFORE I make your salad!". I then told her to cancel my order and asked to speak with the manager, a man who didn't seem too much older than the snotty teenager. The gentleman was apathetic in his apology, and did not offer to rectify the situation in any way. I won't be returning to Jack's since I can make the salad at home without the attitude. PS, tie your damn hair back!

This place is good, the setup is fine and the food is pretty good, I do wish that it tasted a little better (i.e. Dads sandwiches or mr.pickles) in the sense of flavors as far as there sandwiches go. Their Mac and cheese is good but it's not anything groundbreaking. There a solid three stars

This was my first time here at Jacks. I was pleasantly surprised with the menu and what appeared to be pretty healthy. I love the option of creating your own salad. Although there were a lot of people ordering the customer service made up for it and it appeared to go quite fast from there. I wish they had one in So Cal.. I'd go a lot more!!

You must try the BBQ chicken sandwich. Good quality meat. It comes with a pickle and banana pepper on the plate. However the sides are extra. For the price I would have at least expected fries!

I find myself here more often now than before. It's usually busy during lunch hour. I've been meaning to try their salads, but every single time I would come here, I end up getting the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries. You can find me relishing over my sandwich. I love the mango salsa. It's actually what I always look forward to whenever I eat this sandwich. Basically my go-to sandwich if I'm all out of choices to eat.

Big portion for salad and great flavor. It's almost like a Panera Bread, except they have bbq and also cool fries. I would come back for sure! It's a cool place for a quick bite and you can bring your dog. As long as you sit outside, your pet can come. They have this garlic fry that as pretty good and the overall price isn't bad. The bbq plates let you choose a few sides, it's almost very thanksgiving-ish, country side type of meal.

Used to taste a lot better at the old lacation in the same complex. The new layout is horrible. The line formation is terrible. Flavor of food was lacking... I like Jack's but this particular location needs improvements. The staff was working hard but didn't look happy. Maybe because they are overworked and understaffed. One register open while there's a long line with an occasional employee coming over to man the other register. It took me over a half hour to get my salad and urban fries. This was from standing in line to walking out with my food. While in line all I kept hearing is "excuse me, excuse me" from the employees trying to maneuver and weave in and out of the line. You would think a larger location would mean better service and just as tasteful meals as the previous location...DID NOT happen here. SAD!

Bad service, great food though! Under cooked my meat and went back to order a side of more meat for my salad and they charged me for a whole new Salad. Bad Service!!!! Very disappointing. Came out upset.

Food is always great, I love the urban fries!! However, I do not like that every time I come in there are girls working with their hair down making food and wearing shorts that are wayy too short. Not ok for a work environment.

Food: Pretty good. The garlic and urban fries are super awesome. Loved it! Ordered a turkey club sandwich and it was pretty good too. Service: Okay service. This place was more like a fast food restaurant.

I went here on my way out of Sacramento. I saw how long the line was and thought this place must be amazing! The line was almost out the door!! The staff were very friendly and the line went really fast as they were very efficient. I had the eggplant sandwich and a side of yams- boy were they spicy and amazing! My grandfather had the turkey berry with fries. The eggplant mozzarella sandwich was just what i needed for the long drive home. Just filling enough and not oily. Thank you to the wonderful and friendly staff you ROCK!

Charged me for urban fries and a seperate order of chicken strips... All that came was chicken strips and an extremely small amount of fries under it. When I went to talk to one of the workers to fix the misunderstanding, I was faced with rudeness and was going to be charged for another order of urban fries! I payed 11 dollars for a couple of chicken strips and a sad amount of fries. I recommend the managers changing their completely rude staff.

I love Jacks! It is a local favorite! The salads are a great price for the size and quality that you get. When people come in from out of town this place is always a must go. It is easy since you dont have to split the check and really fun. I love it! Jacks Urban Fries are a must try! This is probably my favorite Jacks location, as parking is easy and the outdoor area is really nice and large!

I love the food at Jacks. Exceptional, including the urban fries and the buffalo chicken sammie. YUM! I have stopped coming here, however, because the line for food at lunch is absolutely ridiculous. I don't know how it can be fixed, but I hate waiting for 30 minutes of my lunch hour for my food. The parking situation at lunch is also nuts. If anyone finds that the lines at lunch have improved, drop me a note.

I've been here twice and have had good experiences. Fresh food, fair prices. The sandwiches are very good and the staff is very helpful in accommodating for special requests. It's so nice to be able to get a quality turkey and mashed potato dinner in under 5 minutes. I recommend. 4.5 stars.

i live a block away from here and i am getting fatter because of it. the tri tip bbq sandwich and the urban fries are amazing. especially the urban fries. fat boy heaven. staff is friendly and seems like they know what they're doing. i tried the banh mi and it wasnt that great, but i lived in a pretty densely vietnamese populated area in the bay area so im spoiled. thats why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Went to Jacks for lunch with a group of 5 adults and a baby. One adult was in a wheelchair and we had a baby carrier so seating was challenging. I tried a few different configurations to make sure everyone in our group was comfortable but the seating was awkward. A manager or someone who worked there in regular clothes asked if we would like to sit in another area that would suit our group better. I said yes and he hurried to clean and arrange the seating. It was so nice of him to help! Everyone enjoyed the food they ordered. I got a club sandwich, others ordered salads and chicken tenders. I will definitely come back to jacks.

I usually love Jacks, but this particular one was lacking in flavor. I usually order the Chinese Chicken Salad and garlic fries. Their portions seem a bit smaller here and wasn't consistent with others within the same restaurant too. The salad dressing and chicken was really bland, just lacked flavor. Even the garlic fries seem to not be so fresh and the garlic wasn't as pungent as others. Maybe we went on an off day and too early, it was a Sun at 5:00pm? Their mac and cheese seems to be consistent with the rest of the others though.

I have to give this place five stars. Today was one of those days where you have to stand awkwardly behind a couple on a first date until they feel so uncomfortable that they have to get up and leave. It works every time. The parking sucks, but that isnt Jack's fault. The staff is always friedly and even remembers my name!!! I consider myself a "Jacks-a-holic"... there is no shame in my game... I highly reccomend the buffalo chicken salad.... with ranch... and extra blue cheese crumbles... YUM!!!

There are a couple of things I don't like about Jack's Urban Eats for one I don't like that the employees don't wear uniforms and I also don't like the attitude that most of the employees seem to have (there hipster to cool attitude). Makes me feel very unwelcome and doesn't encourage me to go there. I think the food is okay but it's overpriced for sure!

  • Melissa S.

I don't like the way they take the line. It needs to be more clearly labeled for first-timers... Or maybe I'm kind of a dork. Haha The food was good. Normal. Nothing special. Except the fries. Those are amazing.

  • Jane R.

I eat at Jack's often, and I must say, I love it here. I love the food and the atmosphere. There are a few girls that work there that have a snobby attitude whenever I come in, but 99% of them are absolutely wonderful. They are happy enthusiastic and seem like they enjoy being there. The food is the best part of Jacks... The Urban Fries...OMG. Even when the line is 20-30 people deep, I have never waited more than 15 minutes for my food. I love this place.

I eat here on a regular bases, so why haven't I written a review on this place is beyond me. I LOVE the urban fries! They are super addicting. If you are watching your weight but don't feel guilty indulging a bit, I would recommend having a salad and sharing a small urban fries. I love spinach salads so I usually order a small with my choice of toppings. I'm not a big fan of meat directly in top of my salads, so I get it on the side with a side of mashed and gravy-if I am not ordering the urban fries-and share it. I love that they have kidney and garbanzo beans...fresh ones, not the 3 bean mix in the yucky syrup. I've had bites of the tri tip sandwich and it is so delicious! All the sides are great too! I can't even say one bad thing about this place. It's awesome.

I've had Jacks twice and it's pretty good. The lines are usually pretty bad but the food makes up for it. I always get the tri tip sandwich and the garlic fries. Garlic fries are amazing and so is the tri tip. Always cooked just right and not over cooked which I like.

why review a specific jack's urban eats you might ask? at most locations i order the exact same thing: full with spinnach, walnuts, dried cranberries, chopped sweet potato, blue cheese, cubed terriyaki tofu and maybe one other thing. in davis, you get something the blair witch would turn her nose up at. not enough protein to sustain a newborn wild doe. midtown, depends but usually the same miserly touch that you might think is enforced/suggested by the owners (although the same person who owns this one owns the one in midtown) but here? they give me what i want. and they give a good reasonable amount of toppings and they do it without looking at me like a number even during their busiest hours at lunch. if you're a hardcore jack's fan this is the one you want to go to, trust me. they're great behind the counter and make life easier for me frankly. i go to sac state and i mosey over here at least 3 times a week for lunch and i love it.

You can't go wrong with Jack's! The salads are HUGE, the sandwiches are really tasty and they have some pretty good options for sides if you want them. It's great for just running in and picking something up while avoiding nasty fast food. You're in and out in just a few minutes, even when it's crowded. Cons: In my opinion, it's a little overpriced for somewhere that offers no service. It seems like lately they have been adding a lot less meat to the salads. But I'm addicted so I can't complain too much.

The mashed potatoes and gravy and some of the meats are good, but there's just way too much garlic on so many items here. If you love garlic, ignore this review and pretend it's four stars above.

I'm not a huge sandwich fan but I love their urban fries! I could eat those all day. Tritip sandwich is what I usually get if I do eat a meal here. This place is usually really busy so plan ahead!

I would say this is by far my favorite salad/sandwich place in Sac. I come here so often that people that goes eat with me is getting sick of eating salads and sandwiches. Tried a few different salads here.... Steak Salad, Ceaser Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad.... and they are all good. My personal favorite is the steak salad. I love the balsamic vinaigrette! I think they also have the best garlic fries in town! Yummy. Their sides are okay... tried a few of them and they didn't leave a lasting impression.

I went there with a group of friends the day before labor day. It was a Sunday and due to the open doors and long line, we assumed they were still open. While looking at the menu, I noticed the hours of operations and asked one of the employees behind the counter if we can still order since it's past closing and they said no problem. While the person helping me seemed very inpatient and kept rolling her eyes when I asked questions because they were out of this and that so I had to subsitute. I get that you may want to go home but poor customer service on mannerisms and attitude. However, she was not the only one. Other workers on the line were complaining about scheduling, cursing about previous customers. Just bad service and unprofessional.

Great salads, flavorful meats, nice service. Sandwiches, everything made to order with smiles. Look out for long lines in main eating times! #CONSISTENT Every restaurant should be as consistent as Jacks. Their moral as a restaurant has brought them many returning customers and happy fans. Looking forward to the new location opening!

They're a bit pricey. But their salads are amazing. The urban fries are delicious. Everything was good. Except the cashier :/ He had a bit of a tude.

This place isn't so bad. How ever, I do feel like their customer service Sucks, I Ordered two salads to go and I asked for 4 forks. The lady seemed mad That I asked for more forks than salads and she said, "so your're all sharing? Just Order more next time" wtf? Don't tell me What to order lady. I Know she wasn't kidding either, but whatever. When I dine in, This little boy worker is Constantly hopping around over tables while people are eating as he does his job . I didn't Know this was a jungle gym. I understand some people want to make their job fun but feeling your hot air from your sweaty body across my face is umm.. A little disturbing? I would rate this place lower but I had to give the extra star for their Urban fries

Jack's has been one of my go-to places for dinner when I don't feel like cooking. The salads could be better, so I always get the BBQ chicken sandwich, which is awesome. If you really want to hate yourself the next day, get the urban fries. Delicious!

We got the jacks classic sandwich and the club sandwich with a bowl of turkey chili and sweet potato fries. Everything was very tasty! It ended up being a lot of food so next time I might share a sandwich. I got there just before noon, and Im glad it wasn't a minute later, the place was very busy for lunch. I highly recommend!

The new Jacks has better salad bar items. Love the eggs, and sweet potatoes, which I think are new additions. One of the best places in town for a salad bar. like the extra space in the new restaurant.

This summer, Jack's Urban eats moved from their location in Loehmann's Plaza down several doors to the space previously occupied by Scott's Seafood. They make a delicious Turkey Chili, but they don't always have it. Having a taste for it, I called them this morning and got a voice message saying they don't take messages or phone orders. I will say, most businesses I deal with have someone who will at least, answer the phone. Unable to get over my chili craving, I got in my car and drove to the restaurant only to find they did not have the Turkey Chili. Now I'm pissed and asked to speak to the manager. A young man, appearing to be somewhere between the age of twelve and twenty came out, as I conveyed my disappointment at not being able to speak with someone who could have told me they didn't have Turkey Chili, thereby saving me the drive. There was no, "I'm sorry" or any other expression of empathy to my issue. Rather, he went straight to, "We've heard this before, and from our perspective it is not cost effective to have someone answer the phone all day." I interjected that this might not be the best position since phone calls should not be considered an interruption to the business; they are the business. Realizing that I was wasting my time, speaking with someone who had no authority to make a decision or any change, I turned to leave, but not before explaining that, from my perspective, I would not support any business that could show no value to me as their customer. I walked out, noticing that, although it was Noon, half of the tables in the increased space premises, were empty. I then walked over to Boudin, located just around the corner, which also has chili. Their chili is more traditional, but good and they give you a fresh baked roll of San Francisco Sourdough bread, along with a smile. Today was a turning point, and I am making a decision not to support ANY company that won't give me excellent customer service; end of story. I may even start a Blog as to which establishments do, along with my reasons why. So, Good luck, Jack's Urban Eats. You may want to call Boudin and hear how they handle incoming phone calls.

The food at Jacks is incredible. The fact that it has only 3.5 stars is insane. Don't be swayed from this exceptional eatery.

The food here is still tasty but they always mess up to-go orders. I've only ordered salads to-go several times and three times now they have left the meat off. So, I keep getting back to my office only to open my lunch and realize it is a total disappointment. What is a buffalo chicken salad with no buffalo chicken?! Plus, now I've paid $9.25 for a plain salad with no meat. They clearly need to revise their procedures because I cannot be the only person this is happening to. I will not get anything to-go from here in the future.

When I feel like it's been a long time since I've indulged on a good sandwich and fries, I'll go to Jack's and have Jack's tri-tip sandwich with garlic fries and a lemonade. Although your friends won't be too pleased with the garlic breath you have, your stomache will be content. A nice place to go on a casual lunch, or dinner date ****

I've ate here several times now. I've always gotten the make your own salad with steak added on top. The salads are really good here. The urban fries are also very good. The only downside is that they are usually pretty busy and the price is also a little high for what is basically counter food for resturant prices.

I think that this place is the bomb diggity! From their salads to sandwiches to sides, this place has the goods! They can make up just about anything you would want. They make it right on front of you and you know it is going to be fresh and delicious! Choose from a number of their signature salads or make one totally on your own to fit your liking. Does not matter to them. The sides are always delicious! Garlic Fry's, Urban Fry's, Mashed Potatoes, Mac-n-Cheese...the list goes on! I am hungry thinking about it! Patio offers a nice place to sit on a cool summer evening and their staff is always polite and helpful. You are kind of moving through a cafeteria type of line, but the food is like a billion times better!

In terms of food, the place is delicious. Seriously. My plate was overloaded by the amazing looking club sandwich and then a pile of fries... Even after I hit the "Oh my god. I can't eat another bite" spot, I STILL picked away at the fries on my plate. Now I went here on a Saturday, the day where a) people who don't come out all week come out b) every annoying person and their annoying friends come out, this made the line extremly long. It was a bit chaotic in there. Luckily I had a friend to point me in the right direction otherwise I might've gotten lost in the rush. I'll definitely go back, perhaps not on a weekend. But I will go back, I am intrigued by these urban fries. Prices are okay, this isn't the cheapest bite, you are paying for that delicious meal - with my sandwich fries and soda my mealed rounded out at around $11. But I think overall it was worth it.

I am really never disappointed when I come to Jack's. Seems like I have been to this area way too much recently, but I was tired of Chipotle, so I popped in to Jack's. Surprisingly it wasn't that busy for a Saturday lunch crowd. Ordered the usual, BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich with fries. Can not go wrong. MmMmMmMm. Friend got the salad, but man I never get the salad. They look so good, but when it comes down to it I always opt for the sandwich.

I have been coming to Jack's for the past few years because I lived nearby. I visited last weekend after not going for a few months. I get the tri tip sandwich because it is amazing and so yummy! I would rate this a 5 star but I always ask for no mayo and they ALWAYS put MAYO on! I wish there was a Jack's in my town! This shopping center is very nice. Pros: always tasty good food Cons: never follows my request for no mayo!

MMMMMMMMMM...... What can i say??? I love this place. The salads are huge and yummy. I always get the chicken ceaser salad. That is the bomb. I've tired there california cheese steak. That was really good too. There fries...Mmm. Urban fries are the best. Everything is really good. I can't describe how delicious there foods are. Even there little entrees are the bomb. WOW!!! Man, this talking about their food makes we wanna go buy the whole menu. Hahahha. J/p. I normally always get there salads because it's a good price for a huge portion. LOVE IT!!!!

Went there the other night with my friends who are locals to the city, and to the restaurant. They raved about how great the place is, and they were right it was pretty good eats. But the rudeness of the staff ruined our meal. One of the gals in the group has a companion dog, a very small dog, that was in her case. She yelped (no pun intended) and someone in there freaked out and started complaining to the wait staff (such as it is). We were really harassed, even to the point of the wait staff male saying (under his breathe) whats the point of having her (the dog). It was really uncomfortable. The scene went on for some time. It really put a bummer on the evening. The food was OK. I had the steak sandwich. Some of the meat was soft and chewable, some was not. if I lived there I might go back, but not to that one.
