Love this place, as a former chef at Fats Bistro that went out on his own, I for one thank you for making the personal leap to open your own place. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable for all the food you get. If you like something made a certain way just ask, he is more than happy to accommodate your request. My Sweetie likes N.Y. Style Chow Mien, which he makes for her every time we come in.

This place is our favorite go to for Chinese food. It won't be the best Chinese food you'll ever have and it's not traditional Chinese cooking but all in all the flavors are there and everything is well executed. We've had the Singapore Street Noodles, Beef Chow Fun, Mongolian Beef and Garlic Eggplants. The chow fun (not enough flavor) and Mongolian Beef (too sweet, soggg) were okay but the other two dishes are really good. They make everything fresh to order and while they cook you can hear everything sizzle in the wok. I love the sound of a well heated wok. The intense heat and flame is what makes the food good and take some back to my days as a child watching my dad cook. You can order take out or dine in as there are plenty of seats. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. We will be back to try more dishes!

I give it a solid 4 stars- the staff was helpful and the attention to the customer was really nice. I didn't know what to expect. What we received was individually prepared meals that rival the chains that cook to serve. We were impressed as well as interested in the fact that the costs were reasonable. W head orange chicken, Kao pung and chicken w- green bean. All was wonderful! We will be back.

Not that great... They need to change the oil they use to fry in... Everything tastes like old frying oil.... Better places are in and around Roseville.

CJF is a little hole-in-the-wall Chinese food place, served pretty much fast food style. But this isn't Panda Express. The food arrives at your table STEAMING hot...and stays that way. The dishes (your usual Chinese food favorites) was some of the best we have had. The sweet and sour pork wasn't overly fatty, or those pork cubes you sometimes have to gnaw on. The orange chicken as a light, flaky batter, and the chow mien was full of flavor. This is a clean, but small restaurant, with good prices...and for my money, better than PF Changs and all of the other Chinese food places we have found so far in Roseville. Enjoy!

Good Chinese fast food. Food was hot and came out fast. Good for lunch spot. No weird smells. Not many people at 12:50 but worth a try.

We have eaten here many times now and always receive good food and great service from Edward. Edward has added extra staff to accommodate the increase in his business. Although the new staff is friendly and helpful I feel there is a food taste drop off when Edward is not present. On a couple of occasions we have visited while Edward was away and we came away with average food notably the orange chicken wasn't crispy, the chow fun needed soy sauce and the spicy garlic chicken was covered in too much corn starch or thickener. I hope this is just a blip on the radar since the staff is new and that Edward gets them to cook to his own tasty standards quickly. On the bright side we took a look at CJF's Catering Menu and found the prices to be reasonable. Most items were in the $20-30 range for a small tray but beef and seafood dishes were priced higher. We ordered a couple trays of food and were happy to see Edward was working when we picked up the food. The food was perfect and was gobbled up by our guests. Our thanks to Edward and the CJF staff for keeping our guests happy.

Can you say YUM!! This is one of the BEST "FAST FOOD" Chinese places I've had EVER, and for the price!! Small menu makes it so simple and easy to order. They have daily and weekly specials. They have a quick and simple lunch menu and the food is made FRESH to order!!! THE BEST!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I wish they had one closer to me! Please open one in Lincoln! THANK YOU!! XOXO

I was craving for chicken chow mein so I yelped for chinese food. My son is going to summer school around the area so we stopped here. Not sure if the guy with glasses is the owner but he is really nice and welcoming... Review on food it was good but a little salty but the portion was huge.. overall I will come back to try other stuff on the menu...

We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. You order at the counter and they bring your food out. It's a tiny little fast food eatery, that serves your food on real plates, if you choose to dine in. CJF is very busy with take out orders, since we were dining in, we were notified that we will have about a twenty minute wait for our food. We ordered the salt and peppper jalapeno chicken, orange chicken, vegetable fried rice and chicken chow mein. Our food came out in about twenty minutes. All of the food we ordered was lackluster in taste. Nothing stood out. The orange chicken was over cooked, and not much on flavor, the only thing I can say, is that it was just sweet, no hint of orange. The fried rice and chow mein were okay, at least it wasn't loaded with sodium. The salt and pepper chicken was more easier to chew, the breasts of fried chicken was more tender compared to the orange chicken. Overall, I'm giving CJF, three stars. The food for us was just okay, their menu is very limited and there's probably less than twenty food items to choose from.

I decided to come here because apparently they are one of the few Chinese places in the area that actually takes American Express as a form of payment. It's located in a strip mall in Roseville, so already the ambience is not really there. Their dining area is actually pretty comfortable, but you can tell that the vast majority of their orders are made to-go. You order at the counter and there is no table service--which for me is not a problem at all. I decided to dine-in and order the cream cheese wontons (vegetarian) as an appetizer which cost me $3.50 for 3 wontons. They tasted pretty good and are not a bad option if you decide to come here. For my main dish, I ordered the Ma Po Tofu (vegetarian) for $6.95. It tasted fine, but I wish that it came with some rice or at the very least was asked if I would like to also order a side of rice. Overall, I don't regret coming here, but I don't see any reason to come back either since I live on the other side of Roseville. Maybe check it out if you live next door, but don't bother if you live farther away.

Good food. Chef used to cook at Fats and now went out on his own. Large portions- good value. Nice owner. It's a small quick eat, well lit kinda place. No romance here... But you get fed fast

One of the worst chinese food I've had in Roseville area. I ordered Mongolian beef for lunch. Fried rice was just basically white rice with a few scrambled eggs. The Mongolian beef was put directly over the fried rice and not to the side. Mongolian beef was loaded and loaded with sugar. But coming back

Wow. What a disappointment. After such a build-up from friends who said "portions are huge" and "the chef came from FATS", I was expecting something amazing - especially given the high-ish price. I would have been satisfied with Panda quality, but what I got was far below. On the positive, I was impressed with how clean the kitchen was. Cleanliness wasn't something I was specifically looking for, it was just so far above par it stood out. I placed an order by phone and it was ready right away. We ordered standard fare: broccoli beef, general chicken, two orders of chicken chow mien and cream cheese Rangoon. This came to about $50. The Rangoon was ok, but a bit stale. The noodles were fine, but the chicken in it was chewy. The general chicken was dry and over cooked, but the broccoli beef really stood out. It was _disgusting_. Look... I "get" Chinese take-out. Most places use thin, cheap meat covered in flavorful sauce to make it taste good. The sauce in the broccoli beef was burned, but had it been ok, there is no way it would cover the awful gamey flavor of the meat. I've never had anything like it before. Ordinarily, I try to give places the benefit of the doubt - maybe it was an off night, but at 10-15% more expensive than Panda, an experience like this guarantees I won't be back.

This is a fast food type "Chinese" establishment. Order at counter then sit down. The food wasn't good at all. Tasteless and the chow mein didn't taste right at all. I was scared to eat the "beef" with my broccoli. It was chewy and strange. If you want good Chinese food and a restaurant experience go to China Villa in Rocklin.

OMG! I lived for 33 years in Seattle and ate Chinese regularly in the International District (ID) and never have I tasted such innovation as this evenings meal from CJF! You must try the Honey Walnut Shrimp for plump shrimp cooked just right with sugared walnuts in the most divine sauce...vegetable spring rolls, crispy with fresh veggies and a chicken chow mein with big noodles and moist chicken breast meat! Can't wait to work our way through the menu!

I saw this place and wanted to try it. I was very happy with my meal as was my husband. I got the asparagus chicken in black bean sauce. My husband got the orange chicken lunch special. The orange chicken was not fried in big dough pieces. It had a light crispy outside and was very tender inside. He got a great amount of food, too. The asparagus chicken I got was just a la cart. But since we were eating there, Chef Edward (I think that is his name) offered me some steamed rice in a bowl or on a plate. He also said I could have more if I wanted. The chicken was the most tender I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant, if at any place. Hot and fresh! And the asparagus was perfectly cut and cooked. Not only that, we got our food VERY quickly! Just as fast as if the food was already ready, but we watched them cook the whole time. The place is pretty small, but that's the only downside to it. And that's not much of a downside unless you go when it's very crowded.

Awesome service love the food everything from the honey walnut prawns to the orange chicken chicken it's like a high quality Chinese restaurant a fast-food setting most like about it is the lunch and dinner specials and a huge menu to choose from specials

Meh. I've experienced better - much better. We called in an order for kung pao chicken, orange chicken, bbq pork fried rice, and beef chow fun - add broccoli ($1 extra). They said 10-15 minutes to be ready. When I got there they couldn't identify my order, as it was tagged for "Bill." I don't think Bill sounds like Sarah so, I thought to myself, are they going to, or do I have to pay now? Anyway, I really don't want to sound picky - but I guess I really am. I've rarely been impressed by Chinese restaurants that people recommend, which leads me to believe I have different tastes than most. First off - no broccoli in the chow fun, though they did charge me for it. Second, no veggies in the fried rice (pork and egg only). Third Kung Pao was practically tasteless. I don't know what they consider 'spicy' but this ain't it. It was at best a light sauce. Now I know there doesn't HAVE to be zucchini in Kung Pao but it is so traditional I've not seen Kung Pao made without it. So, kind of gloppy bland chicken with LOTS of celery, a couple carrot slices and a few sprouts, maybe 4 peanuts. When I order Chow Fun it often comes with some kind of vegetable in addition to the meat. When I asked what veg and was told none, I asked for broccoli to be added, and as I said before - I was charged, but none was in the dish. Orange chicken was unremarkable - was okay. Would have been nice if they had ingredients listed on their menu like most every other restaurant. All in all, it'll fill up the teenagers, but don't go if you're looking for good flavor, or much in the way of fresh veg (except maybe celery).

This place is the best for take out food. Service was awesome as well as the price for the quality of food you get. $6.95 for lunch combo. They don't make your food till you orde we always come back here when we think about Chinese food in Roseville.

I went today and gave the lady $20.04, the item was $8.04 she kept the cash and started walking away until I told her I gave her $20.04. She did not apologize. Also I went during lunch and she did not charge me the lunch special price of $6.30. The food was bland yet I still left a tip after all that. I will not be going back. Watch out for your change.

Food is indeed excellent. Portions are a lot for the price. We went to the place on a slow afternoon and were lucky enough to be entertained by chef Edward himself. He is friendly and informative. Definitely coming back and will order party trays now that we've discovered this Roseville eatery.

I'm writing this review minutes after finishing my chicken chow fun from CJF. This was an impromptu lunch and decided to try them for the first time based on other Yelpers. I must say I was not disappointed in the least. Let's not kid ourselves...chow fun is definitely not something you order if you're watching calories or want to go on the lighter side. Frequently restaurants will drench the once perfectly glistening rice noodles in soy sauce and oyster sauce and then throw an obscene amount of sliced onions and bean sprouts to give the appearance of large portions. This was not the case with CJF. The chow fun was lighter tasting and the ingredients were undoubtedly fresh. The chicken was perfectly cooked and there was just the right amount of black beans to give a slight flavoring but not too visible which is what usually ruins chow fun for me. This is by no means a big frills establishment. The couple that runs the place greeted me instantly and were very inviting. This is a great place for a quick bite to eat on your lunch break and will not break the bank. I look forward to trying other dishes in the near future!

Some friends and I frequent CJF for their lunch specials, which are a great deal for the price. Generous portions and a fairly wide selection for lunch specials. They are also flexible with some substitutions, getting Sweet and Sour chicken instead of Sweet and Sour pork, for example. Food is cooked to order and served fresh and hot.

Great place excellent service. Dinner special is a great deal, list posted didn't have what I want but when I asked for a dinner special with my choice they said "sure". Small place but plenty of tables. Lots of take out orders. We ate there. I had the CJ honey chicken, steamed rice, chicken was fresh and tasted wonderful, love the honey flavor. We will surely return. Guys who work there very nice and accommodating even with our changes to our order. Try it you love the place.

I don't understand why people love this place so much. First time I ate there I thought it was bland. And it just didn't taste like Chinese food to me. I decided to give it a second chance today, thinking my first visit was a fluke incident. But their chow mien tastes closer to spaghetti than anything. I liked it better when it was China Run.

  • Jessica M.

The food here is great. The service leaves a lot to be desired. I consistently get the wrong order and never get a receipt to confirm what is was to begin with. When I try to call no one ever answers. I want to be able to continue to eat here, but if I can't get what I want and ask for why bother?

AMAZING food. I drive past this place since it opened thinking "no thank you on take out Chinese". Came last night for the first time and back again tonight per hubby's request. Fresh and delicious! New FAN!

  • Robyn M.

This place is quick and easy and has delicious food. I especially like the peppered beef chow fun! Mmmm The general chicken and orange chicken are okay. Lots of batter but good flavor. I didn't really like the mabo tofu. It was the only dish in the 3 times I've ordered from here that I wasn't a fan of. There are typically only two people there... A cashier/ assistant and a cook. Everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful when selecting dishes. The only thing I noticed was that the menus (printed version) did not match the board. Doesn't really matter to me but for newbies coming to this place it's worth looking at the printed menu as well. Prices are a little higher than typical Chinese restaurants but there aren't too many decent ones in the Roseville area so ill spend a little more for better food.

  • David C.

We went there for the first time yesterday and ordered a couple of beef dishes and we were extremely disappointed. The meat didn't taste like meat, it seemed as though it was pure fat that was pounded thin to look like meat. The texture was awful and I couldn't eat it. The pork fried rice was ok and that was about it.

    (2)
  • Rich L.

The owner, Edward, is very nice and always greets the customers with a smile. The food tastes fresh and is served on real plates. The dining area is very clean. You can ask for items not on the menu and they can usually make it for you.

  • Thor S.

Oh my what a pleasant surprise this was. It's similar to Panda, except the food is really good. I'm not sure how to describe it, you'll just need to go there and you'll understand. It makes Panda taste like McDonald's compared to a good restaurant grinding their own meat and grilling a burger correctly. The prices were very fair for the portion size. Two in our party had the orange chicken which I had to steal pieces and try. Instead of a huge lump of dough with a grain of chicken in the middle, it was large chunks of meat with a scant amount of breading on the outside. I had the curry chicken which had just had hint of spiciness and was very tender. I ordered it served over chow mien. This was probably the best chow mien I've ever had. It was very moist and tender.

Quick amazing fresh authentic light Chinese food is hard to find. The guy working was extremely nice as well (opens the door and carried my food to my car cause I had my baby). You can't beat great friendly customer service with a smile and great quality food! Try it! :)

I finally went to CJF and was not disappointed. I was at Fats just a couple days ago so I have a real recent comparison. The orange chicken was definitely delicious and compared to Fats was every bit as good. My husband ordered spicy garlic chicken and was also very pleased. To top if off, the chef went around to the tables and introduced himself, asked if we needed anything else and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely go back!

They cater! This was a wonderful surprise. I always enjoy good Chinese food and this place delivers. Simple clean decor and atmosphere, the Chef works hard to make every dish look and taste amazing. I enjoyed the Walnut Shrimp, a favorite order for most people as it was made for five other people before me in the restaurant. So I got to enjoy the presentation and smell of my entree long before enjoying its taste. Your able to watch the Chef and his small staff work exceedingly hard at your dish before its delivered, this chef/owner enjoys his job and it shows. He greeted us with a large genuine smile afterwards and apologized for a very small delay in service that we experience, nothing that took away from this review as you can see. I viewed it merely as a dinner rush. I will defiantly be visiting whenever I'm in the area.

I just happened to stop at CJF a couple of months ago as I was driving through Roseville, hungry for lunch, on my way home from a meeting. I'm so glad I did. Though I live in Natomas, work in midtown and frequent a Chinese restaurant a half a block from my business, I will try to drive into Roseville to visit CJF whenever I get the chance. This is a new, small business trying to make it work. Chef Ed loves cooking and seems willing to go out of his way to please his customers. If you show an interest in learning more about Chinese cuisine, you may get to learn a little more from him. On the other hand, if you go in and order teriyaki chicken he'll prepare it for you without an argument. Really. I watched him do it for a customer on my second visit. Go. Just go.

Very good value Nice sized portions that are delectable. I've been ten times , and still haven't been disappointed. I've tried a wide variety of their menu , and honestly can't find a negative to speak of. Bathroom was clean , they were busy but organized.

Great place. The food were great, the price is descent, and the customer service is amazing. My wife, son, and I were looking for a Chinese restaurant and we happened to see this place. It is a small place and their menu is quite small compared to most Chinese restaurants. We tried 3 of the choices (beef w/ broccoli and 2 other that I can't remember). Needless to say, we were happy when we left the place. Why I gave this place 5 star is the quality of their food. We love eating Chinese food- fast food, sit-in, you name it. The quality and taste of their food is comparable to those high-end Chinese restaurants . You just have to try it to believe it. So, am I going back there? ABSOLUTELY!!!

  • Chris K.

Very good authentic Chinese food at a bargain price. Sure, its comparable to a Panda , but this small family restaurant incorporates an very high qualified executive chef and real artistry in preparation. No formula Corporate taste. It may look like a strip mall for profit operation, but the quality is as you just walked into a shop in China Town. The only disappointment is that you won't have that feeling of paying too much, lets face it, people sometimes need to pay more in order to feel like the food taste good.

Had the Kung Pao Chicken last night. What a wonderful surprise. The food was fresh, great taste, not overly spicy and great serving portions. I will definitely be back!

Love this place! Chef Edward, Former executive chef for Fat's and owner of CJF, add great customer service to a great menu. I had the orange chicken and fried rice and the breading was light and crunchy...excellent! Come enjoy this place before they out grow thus small place. I heard they have a line out the door on Saturday night. The place is made primarily for take out with some tables.

Very delicious food, although the food is very grease and salty as well. I carry out the food and rinse them with water at home in order to get rid of the grease. The grease can be rinsed off half %, and the taste is still there! Mostly importantly, they use carton carry out box, which is a big plus to me! If they use foam box, I will not carry out the food and will not likely to eat there.

I like it! Good presentation, fresh, and tasty. The chef is very friendly. Think I'll come back. I had the sesame chicken and really enjoyed it. This is not your run of the mill typical Chinese takeout. Their cooking ideas run outside the box and that is a good thing!

This restaurant is located where China Run used to be. The food is very good. I'll have to come back every time I visit the Roseville Galleria. Its worth the drive from Sacramento.

  • Hieu L.

I am glad I tried this place after passing by it many times. The quality of the good, freshness, and taste is on par with Chang's and Fat's, BUT they keep it more authentic. The service is top notch, Edward knows every customer, he knows exactly what they order last time. This is a great "mom and pop" neighborhood restaurant. Try the Mongolian beef, meat is tender and crisp, full of flavor and spices. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln.

  • Christina P.

Excellent! My husband & I order the honey walnut shrimp about three times a month? It does not disappoint! Fresh, friendly, and delicious. Only negative (which is why I knocked off a star) is they NEVER have enough cream cheese wontons! The past 8 times I've ordered them I've been told they are all out. This has been anywhere between 5:00-6:00 pm. One would think if they are such a popular item that the restaurant is running out of them before closing the chefs would order more ingredients and make more to accommodate their popularity. They are losing money by always running out of them and it's annoying to this customer!

  • Steve M.

Eugene, the owner, is one of the nicest people I have met! This place has some of the best peking pork I have ever had! It so tender and the sauce is not overly sweet - just right!! The salt and pepper chicken is also great but, my favorite has to be the EggPlant something-er-other... This is now one of my favorite lunch spots!!!

I think the other reviewers are a little over the top with 5 stars and "best ever" comments but after a string of terrible restaurants which previously occupied this space, including another takeout Chinese restaurant which served the saltiest food I have ever eaten, I can see why they are excited. Is it as good as similar casual Chinese takeout chains like the long gone Pick Up Stix which was a tenant many years age or Pei Wei, both quality chains that have left the Northern California market? I say no but all in all not to far behind. Staff very nice. Food came out quickly and very hot. It was still steaming when I got it home. Quality, good but not great. Tried the Chow mein and asparagus chicken, both solid but a little bland. Can't quite but my finger on what was missing, but the flavor pop just wasn't there. Although the asparagus was very crisp and plentiful, I wish there were more veggies in the chow mein, I think I got 2 pieces of broccoli. Adding a little hot sauce helped. Great portion value, no complaints in that department. I got 3 solid meals out of my order. Overall, it is probably a solid 3.5 stars for this type of restaurant, but because it is one of the only restaurants on this side of town, ill thrown in some bonus points and round up to 4. Everything was well made and I'm willing to explore the menu more. Plus, as the only game in town, they could cut corners like other restaurants have. They clearly are not going that route, which I appreciate.

This is the best Chinese food in town. Authentic and good portion and quality. The service is excellent. This is where my family, friends and I go for Good Chinese food. This place has Chinese food that is not very Americanized. If you want to do something special with your food, the owner and chef are more than happy to make it the way you wan it. If you are not happy with the food, talk to them. It is very family oriented. Love this place.

The food wasn't over the top spectacular (especially for the price). The customer service was good, but then again I was the only person in there. The interior is nothing special, and I found the menu actually quite limited.. unless I'm missing some super secret menu or something?

Chef Edward, the new owner is formerly the Exec Chef at Cache Creek and Frank Fats. His food is made with fresh ingredients and much care. Tried - Salt/Pepper Chicken, Cream Cheese Won Ton (appetizers), Honey Walnut Prawns, Fish/ Black bean sauce, Garlic Green beans. The quality matches the best restaurants but the care in preparation makes it taste so much fresher- the won tons had fresh scallions added to the cream cheese for a mild onion flavor. The fish was my favorite- low fat and paired well with the green beans. Prawns as good as Original Fats. I can't wait to go back to Roseville to try more- YOU have to try this new place!! Kudos to Edward!!!

Ordered the vegetable with tofu and rice. Asked for added garlic. Also ordered egg-roll. Veggies were fresh enough. Tofu was gross(spongy and hollow). Egg roll was average. Honestly, everything was lacking in flavor, and nothing was properly seasoned.

We had lunch here yesterday and wanted it to be good...it wasn't. The place is shabby and dirty. Our table and 1 chair both had spilled food on them. We ordered Kung Po Chicken and Peking Pork...both just OK. The waiter was very friendly and nice and I feel bad writing this review but all these 5 star reviews are very misleading.

Its ok if you want a fast chinese meal and you live close by. It definitely taste better than china run which is what it was formerly. My hubby goes often he likes it better than me.

Excellent rice. Hot fresh made meal in a matter of minutes and it was super tasty. Will definitely go back!

Very delicious Chinese food, and this place is very fast and clean. I like the Orange chicken and the best part is I can actually see what goes into my food! Everyone is very nice and I will try some broccoli beef next time:)

Fresh ingredients, welcoming staff and flavorful dishes. Quality is equal to that of any upscale Asian restaurant, but the environment is much more casual. This is much better than your typical "Americanized" Asian cuisine. I've come here on multiple occasions and usually get a lunch special or an eggplant dish- all options are delicious and authentic! Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area (or out of the area!) who's looking for some yummy Chinese food!

I heard the chef here used to be the head chef for Fat's Asia Bistro, so you can expect well-made food at a lower price. It is high quality food - every plate is around $10. I highly enjoy the Canton Pepper Beef and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. I am definitely coming back here again for more food. It's a good place for a quick family meal on the weekdays. The service is friendly, no hassle, no long waiting times, and takeout is also available. Closes a bit early at 8pm, so be sure to get there a little earlier.

Very delicious and awesome service here! The food comes out fast. Hands down the absolute BEST best chicken chow mein I have ever ever had, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place!

Set in a strip mall, in a tiny hole in the wall, this place produces some big flavors and very good food. Although the selection is limited, there is a variety of chicken, beef, shrimp, and vegetable dishes. I love the Singapore Street Noodles, which had shrimp and tasty slices of BBQ beef, along with assorted vegetables and egg. It was spicy and delicious. The Orange Chicken is okay, tasty, but without much sauce or vegetables. For the price, though, CJF is a real gem, especially in Roseville, where lackluster chain restaurants abound.

Ate here today with my parents, myself and baby for dinner, and I was really impressed! The food was absolutely delicious!!! Everything is prepared fresh and cooked in an open kitchen so you know that it's fresh. We ordered four dishes and wor wonton soup. Mongolian beef was made the traditional spicy way and it was so well balanced with enough heat to make you sweat just a bit and enough flavor to please your taste buds. The chicken with string beans was perfect! Tender white meat chicken with no gristle, and the green beans were crispy outside and tender on the inside. Eggplant with tofu was also perfect. The eggplant chunks were cooked perfectly because they were cooked through yet still firm and meaty enough that it didn't fall apart. The beef chow fun was the best I have had in a long time. I like mine dry....the gravy style drives me nuts. Having lived in SF and grown up in LA, I've had my share of great, fresh chinese food, but this place was far better in many ways, not the least of which is it's customer service. Chef Edward was very attentive and really cared about what we thought of the food we ordered. It is clear this place is a gem, and I'm so glad I found it on yelp and that it's only 2 miles from my house! Will be here more often and will definitely try their lunch specials. One tip from the Chef was that they can prepare other dishes not listed on their menu...just tell them what you want, and they'd be happy to whip it up! Please come and try this restaurant! Support it so that it sticks around. Great, fresh and authentic chinese food at very reasonable prices! You will NOT be disappointed

CJF is the perfect place to get some quick Chinese food, with a gourmet taste. I got the honey walnut shrimp, as well as the beef chow fun. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. I WILL be back.

Went again for lunch. I tried to stump Chef Ed with a dish called Malaysian Chow Fun. He knew right away what it was. Tho it's not on the menu, he made a batch and like everything I've had there so far - delicious!

Food is cooked fresh each time you order. Takes a bit of time but well worth it. All in all good food. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

If you have every eaten at Fats in Roseville, this is the exact same food, without the atmosphere and extra cost of tipping a server. The food is tasty! Recommend it for lunch; large portions for the price.

tasty and not too heavy... i would expect the same quality at a very nice sit down restaurant... i have noticed a distinct shift between chefs though... chef edward is clearly extremely talented... i think this is a wonderful place for him... you can tell he has a genuine love for food which is refreshing in a place like this which is usually full of teenagers or people who are watching the clock so hard they barely make eye contact with you... panda always makes me sick... i can't imagine having that problem here... we willingly drive 20 minutes each way to eat here... the prices and quality make it well worth it...

You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. The food comes out fast, fresh and hot. The menu is limited but as it is made to order that is a good thing. The owner /chef came over to introduce himself and took interest in letting us know that he notice that we ordered vegetarian and he had notified a dish that looked vegg but actually would have normally had pork in it ......I appreciated the education and the fact that he can adjust his cooking to order. We will return for sure. The food is served family style and we had enough left over for a whole meal tomorrow.

Found this wonderful gem on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. Was a little worried when I saw the location, but the reviews were good so we rolled with it. Ordered 5-6 items and they were all awesome! The orange chicken was really good. Spring rolls, garlic eggplant, chicken chow mein, chicken with green bean all were very good. The flavors were all there and the smell when he cooked was great. Food was served very quickly. Chef Edward came to our table to make sure we were satisfied which felt very real and personable. My only critique is that the food is so good I wish it were in a more traditional restaurant setting with tables and table cloths. Other than that it is now our go-to Chinese Restaurant and would highly recommend.

Absolutely the worst! We ordered the Canton Beef and it was the bottom of the wok. Coated with grease and burnt pieces. Also ordered the General Chicken. The portion was very big but it too, was the leftover from the day. Hard, crunchy, dried out. The white rice was good so that is what we ate. Threw the rest out. Will never go back. The owner was barking orders at the young guys working there and the place was hot, dirty, and the floors were sticky. The nice young man working there should find a new job because he was too qualified to be yelled at by the owner. Is this negative enough?

I was hesitant to try this place since the prior restaurant, China Run, was not very good. We LOVED the orange chicken& honey want shrimp. Expertly prepared and fairly priced for the portion size. Can't wait to share this new find with my family and friends! Owner was super friendly too and when my son asked for a cup for water, he told my son he can fill it with anything from the fountain machine. My son was thrilled!

Cozy place, with just a few people working here at a time, but pretty fast and tasty. I've tried several things here and the food is on par with pricier Chinese places like Fat's or PF Chang's for a better price and shorter wait.

We tried CJF tonight and I will give it 5 star! We had garlic chicken, Won ton soup and chow mein. Everything tasted very very fresh and good. I am so glad finally we have a high quality Chinese carry out in our area. This is our new boutique restaurant in West Roseville.

I gave them one star because there isn't an option for a lower rating. First, the counter guy bad mouthed China Run, the previous restaurant, which was really tacky. Then we watched them pour frozen battered lumps for our general chicken into the fryer--after telling us everything was made fresh. The lumps turned out to taste freezer burned with very few shreds of chicken in them. We were told rice came with the chicken but didn't get any rice or fortune cookies, for that matter. And their egg rolls were actually frozen spring rolls. I doubt if they will last long.

Good, fast Chinese food. We are creatures of habit, but decided to give this new place a try. We've now added it into our regular rotation. Food feels fresh and light, well for Chinese food anyway. Great taste, a little more $ than are old favorite place. We go for generals chicken, honey shrimp and fried rice. The place is never crowded, hope it survives. It took over the old Mexican place called Amigos I think.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
