What a charming restaurant. Stopped by for a late lunch as it is across the street from our hotel (Holiday Inn Express Rocklin). It is so cute. We ordered and the food arrived very quickly. My husband ordered a hamburger and he considers himself a hamburger snob. He loved it. He got the one with teriyaki and pineapple. I had crepes with cherry compote along with two eggs and bacon. The bacon was nicely good, but was pretty greasy. The eggs were over medium and cooked perfectly. The crepes were excellent and the cherry compote was certainly not out of a can. We would definitely eat here again.

It's hard to find good breakfast food that has great flavor. This little gem is wonderful! Wonderful coffee, amazing food and outstanding service! I hate to share this gem with anyone else, but this place is truly amazing!

We ate lunch yesterday, they had a chicken salad sandwich on special,it was good except the chichen salad was very sparse for the cost.

My husband and I are sick and tired of waiting 45 minutes for breakfast at most places in the neighborhood. We decided to give this place a try. It's quiet, clean and great food! It's the perfect place to have a relaxing and delicious breakfast without having to deal with noise and pushy serves trying to kick you out. It's good traditional breakfast food with the perfect bright ambiance. We will definitely be back!

Went for lunch recently. Although not crowded, service was slow. We ordered Ruben sandwiches, which were skimpy, rather dry and not very tasty. The price is $9.99 with either french fries or salad. IF the sandwich had been good, it might have been worth it, but at that price, we felt we'd been "had". The decor is cheery, although amateurish. There are clear plastic covers on every tablecloth (and each is different), but it seems vinyl tablecloths would have been a better choice (so you didn't feel like you were in Kindergarten). It feels like a former Mexican restaurant trying to be something else, and there was not enough effort to pull it off. Perhaps going for breakfast is a better idea.

We had a great experience! The owners and staff were very friendly. Really good homemade breakfast! The French toast was delicious. Will definitely come back when we are in town.

How can you say thank you to such an amazing server. Yes the place is a little outdated and yes it could use a make over. But who cares too much when the service is spot on and the food is amazing! Please - try a cinnamon roll - you will love it and thank me. Great experience and I will be back!

We often choose to dine at Waffle Barn because they are just down the street from us, but the last experience at the barn was a little underwhelming and I wasn't ready to relive the subpar experience. As fate would have it, this morning my husband was feeling a little adventurous and my mother-in-law had just recommended this cute, new Window Box Cafe, so we gathered up the kids and headed on over. It is quaintly decorated and clean, we were seated right away and our drink order taken and delivered. Our couple of questions were answered quickly and above all else we REALLY liked the staff. There is something so wonderful about a place where you'd want to go back and become a regular simply because they treat you like you belong there, like you're family. My husband said the eggs were really good, my son loved the pancakes (and said they were better than mine - no offense taken at all lol), and my younger son was a fan of the potatoes. I got the biscuits and gravy because that's one of the benchmarks of a great place for me, if they can do the biscuits and gravy right. I'm no food critic, but it was perfect consistency, not overly dense/thick, and flavored well - PLUS the biscuits were fluffy, but sturdy enough for the gravy. They can also cook CRISPY bacon - we love crispy bacon - limp bacon can take a hike for all in our family; this is the other benchmark of a good breakfast place and they passed this one with flying colors A bonus plus for us is that my husband had to take a work phone call right before his food hit the table and they offered to take it back to the warmer for him when it looked like he might be awhile and he was really touched that they offered to do that for him. Again, this was a very "mom" type thing for a business to do and we felt like they really took care of us. I'd say this is closer to 4.5 stars and really the only reason I'm not going a full 5 stars here is just based on personal preferences (potatoes were yummy, but cut in wedges and my husband likes a smaller or thinner cut for country potatoes) and because a couple of tables seated after us got served first, but likely that could be because they ordered something simpler and faster to prepare while we like our stuff well done which takes more time. We'll definitely head back again!

Overall ... VERY GOOD, 4 Stars. I had the chicken fried steak and enjoyed it greatly. I asked the server if it was fresh or frozen and her reply was the "steak" was frozen but they pound it out here and then dip it fresh in their own batter. True or not, it was tasty. My son got the Mouse Cakes w/ sausage links (their huge) and my daughter ordered the Daily Special - Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes. The pancakes were both excellent. Please note, the Mouse Cakes came decorated with Reeses Pieces and I had to have the dish reordered because my son has severe nut allergies. They promptly did with absolutely NO fuss. Service was excellent! There are better places close-by for breakfast, however, this place is definitely very solid. We'll surely be back.

This place was very delicious I had the California Benedict and it was really great. I took away a star because I could never get a refill on my juice and also I ordered French fries and they were not even salted My friend I was with ordered crepes and he said they were a little bit too thick and also becoming soggy and he didn't finish his meal which was really unfortunate because he's not from around here The staff is very kind and it was a nice little restaurant
(4)Cory G.
This place is amazing. My girlfriend and I go about three times and month and love he food and great prices. I'm not the one to write things on yelp but I was compelled to by the amazing service given to us by either the owner or the manager. I ordered chicken fried steak like usual and it had about a 20 min ticket time. I didn't even notice that my food was taking so long to come out because I was just enjoying a delightful conversation with my gf, when management or owner comes to my table and personally apologized for the wait and took it upon herself to give me free coffee on my next visit and took my meal off the bill. Even after many attempts to say no. This place rocks because any company that cares for each customer is amazing. I have been a manger at a restaurant and I share there love in customer service. Thank you so much for your kind heart and amazing food and service. From your most loyal customer Cory

Happiness begins with a delicious meal and friendly service at Window Box!!!! We highly recommend the coffee with a homemade cinnamon roll to start... So yummy and perfect for sharing while you enjoy the morning...
(4)Jedd B.
Nice mom and pop brunch spot in busy Roseville! Service was great, the dining areas were quaint and clean and the decor made everything cozy. We came for brunch: had their pancakes, eggs, and sausage combo. My dad had their cinnamon roll. Everything was delicious! Definitely worth a try!
(5)Jenny C.
Service was great and my kids loved the food. I would love to see a few more healthy options on the menu personally, but enjoyed myself none the less.
(4)Lily D.
Came for Saturday brunch. They were not busy although we had to wait a few minutes for them to clean a table. I ordered an omlette. What I did love was the option of having 2 mini pancakes in lieu of toast as I usually like having a bit of pancakes but not a whole order. It was a knotch above Dennys but nowhere close to 4 Sisters. I would probably give a 4 if not for the non-existent service. We never saw our young waitress besides taking our order and dropping of the check. Had to wave down the water guy as he passed to refill our drinks. I could understand if they were super busy but they were not. Had maybe 5 other tables there. Prices are comparable to other similar cafes. I would probably return if we were right there but it is definitely not a place I would say Hey you gotta come here.
(3)Marina M.
My hubby and I went here for the first time today. First is their service is pretty good. It's cozy inside. We liked it. I ordered veggie crepe. And it was ok. Little bit on the burned wide crepe and lack flavor. With wide hash towns which was over cooked and mushy like mashed potatoes. My hubby ordered fried steak which was pretty decent. With side of hash browns which also was over cooked and mushy. And side of pancakes which were ok. Our total was $20 which is pretty good! Will we come back here? It's a maybe
(3)Kelly R.
Food was alright. The eggs benny actually tasted like eggs benny without trying to be weird which I really appreciated. Last few times I've gone out it just has been... Underpar. Window box nailed it. Service was a little hot and cold, making us feel a little rushed, forgetting half a meal but then they more than made up for it in sweetly boxing it up and swooping in for the win at the end. We will definitely be back.
(4)Terri S.
This place is pretty ok...not sure I'll return just because there wasn't a WOW factor, but the food was tasty. Definitely worth a try!
(3)Yuri S.
Nice breakfast place. Will return. Came here for Sunday Brunch. We got here around 11:30 and there was no wait, which was nice. Orange juice, grapefruit juice, and coffee were good. I got a Three egg white veggie omelet with fresh fruits and 2 mini pancakes came with it. The omelet was a little bland but not bad. 3.5 stars. Fresh fruit was a little disappointing. Kiwi was like a rock and it's not edible. Honeydew was too ripe. Strawberries were ok. 2 Stars. Pancakes were great! I saw they have several kind of pancakes so I'll try one next time. My daughter had mouse pancakes and she loved it and almost finished it. 4 Stars. My husband got French Toast. He liked and ate all of it. 4 Stars. My mother in law got a Fried Steak and she said it is the best one in town. 5 Stars. Service was nice. Very friendly. They have Senior menu and kids menu. Good for a family.
(4)Timothy S.
Our first visit and most likely our last. While we found the staff very friendly and pretty well organized, the food suffered from a severe case of the blands. My chicken fried "steak" had the consistency of something pressed and formed. Not naturally meat-like at all. The country gravy was not too bad but again, bland. The potatoes had little flavor but on the plus side were not greasy. Mini pancakes that came with my meal were pretty standard. My wife reported her California Benedict was very bland also. No seasoning and lacked any imagination. This place is much better than IHOP or Denny's but can't compare to other "real" restaurants in the area.
(2)Beth A.
We originally were trying to go to 4 Sisters but the wait was really long so we checked Yelp and decided to try this place. It was ok. No 4 Sisters, but we got fed. My Ca benedict was pretty good. My daughter liked her waffle. My hubby did not like his Polish sausage plate and found a hair in it so he was just done. Service was ok. Some guy was following the server everywhere which was really weird. Maybe she was new, but she was doing perfectly fine so it was kind of uncomfortable.
(2)Igor Olga L.
After reading so many reviews on Yelp, decided to give it a try. ...Disappointed. .... Waitress kept forgetting what we ordered, had to ask for coffee refill and was refilled with cold coffe. Kids loved pancakes with syrup and butter, but I think next time we'll go to Early Toast instead. Not satisfied with food quality ! Probably won't be back again
(3)J A.
The customer service is great, but the food is not. My mom's bread had furry stuff all over it, my sister's omelette had grainy cheese, and my gluten free pancakes tasted awful. They were nice enough to change the bread but we couldn't ask to change the entire order. The service is great, they really strive to make your experience a good one, but the food is not worth the trip. This was my second time here, unfortunately not going back. Also there are no soy/almond/coconut milk options for vegans or those who are lactose intolerant :(
(2)Tom F.
Enjoyed our time here for our Sunday breakfast, service excellent with three attentive servers topping our coffee off with fresh hot Java. The meal was well prepared, served hot and tasty. My meal was a short stack with two nice over easy eggs and sausage. My lovely wife enjoyed their most popular "Carys Mess" she enjoyed it so much she took some home for lunch. Our good friend enjoyed her meal of French Toast, Bacon and Scrambled. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars if it wasn't for the plastic table cloths sticking to my bare arms. I really never enjoy this type of table cloth in the fifties and early sixties. Although authentic and practical not my kind of comfort. Go check it out for your self.

It is rare that I will give 1 star, however this experience was one that I MUST give only 1 star for and warn anyone before they decide to eat here. So the location of the Window Box Cafe is in a stand alone building in the middle of a small business park - that being said, there's been SEVERAL restaurants that have been in this building and failed unfortunately in just the past couple of years - cursed possibly? I don't know but we haven't seen one restaurant succeed in this location yet. We decided to eat here BECAUSE of the various GREAT Yelp reviews, for the first time - Yelp has failed us :( Such a disappointment. So we arrive on Sunday around 11:15AM - and there is NO line, NO wait. This should have been our first warning - because EVERY good or even DECENT breakfast place in the Roseville/Rocklin area carries a 45 minute to 1 hour wait on the weekends, especially at 11 but whatever. We get in and are seated immediately to a booth. So far so good. We order our food (biscuits and gravy platter for me, and the rueben sandwich for hubby) and hubby also orders a coffee. The waitress specifically states she will put in our order and bring a coffee. Approximately 5 minutes later, still no coffee and she's walked by us maybe 4 or 5 times. My husband has to pull her to the side and ask for coffee, she apologizes as she forgot and brings coffee. Okay - we chalk that up to... forgetfulness, because it can't be due to them being busy (several empty tables and booths and again no wait! and plenty of waitstaff). Then finally about 5-10 minutes later, our food arrives. Hubby's coffee is yet empty again - and she doesn't even swing by to offer a refill. Husband has to stop her YET AGAIN and ask for more coffee. This was the last bit of coffee he got, he never got offered another refill nor were we checked on except to be brought the bill - literally 2 minutes after our food arrives. And we decided it wasn't worth it to wait or ask for more coffee. FOOD - eeek. Okay so my biscuits and gravy platter came with bacon or sausage, 2 eggs and hash browns. Eggs - I got sunny side up - they can't mess that up - it's too simple - so far again so good. Hash browns is what the waitress recommended over potatoes - i asked for extra crispy - umm soggy, soft and cold were not how I wanted them. Did i want to send the food back? No - so i just dealt with it. Bacon - I asked for extra well done - again crispy (sense a theme how i like my food? - both of which she read and confirmed back for me - just cooked past raw, soggy and limp - and also refrigerator COLD was my bacon. What?? We can't even get this right?? NO??!!! And don't even get me started about my biscuits and gravy. I asked for gravy on the side - again waitress confirmed - instead I got a large plate of biscuits with gravy covered all over them. UGH - we just can't get ANYTHING right. This is when it gets worse - the taste was fine if you held your breath - the gravy actually SMELLED ROTTEN! It was disgusting. I thought at first it was maybe me and my nose was just being picky so I made my husband try them - yup - it was a dirty rotten smell with each bite. UGH. Just yuck. Gravy should not smell BAD. Husband had the rueben sandwich with seasoned fries... was it good? it was okay - not nearly as good as we would have wanted - the menu promised highest quality corned beef - we are questioning if it came out of a can like the corned beef hash would - that's how NOT fresh it tasted, and it was dry. The french fries - we would bet $20 that they were Ore-Ida frozen fries - that were deep fried. They were seasoned and were just like the Ore-Ida frozen seasoned fries - plus the taste - that weird hollow taste once you bit in and taste the middle of a cooked Ore-Ida frozen fry - yup - had that flavor. Price wise - mine was $8.95 and hubby's was $9.95. So it wasn't too expensive, but i wish I went to Country Gables or another low price breakfast place and given our business elsewhere. We did not complain to the manager or waitress, because honestly - they had so many chances. I admit in advance - we did not tip well (my meal was completely the opposite of what i ordered and we had to ask for coffee twice!) - but we did write on our receipt WHY. So they should know. So for all of you - take it from someone who has eating at a LOT of the more popular breakfast spots in Roseville/Rocklin - take your business elsewhere - you will get a much better experience and tasting food. Absolutely disappointing - I don't expect the restaurant to last long here.

Breakfast was good, hot, and fast. Potatoes had great flavor! Gravy was homemade and good. I would come again!

Great little restaurant in Roseville California. After going to IHOP and Black Bear where they were grossly understaffed, we decided to pop in here after looking at the Yelp reviews. Owner was very friendly and the owner's daughter waited on us. It was excellent food, good portions...a nice little restaurant. Local breakfast place.
(5)James E.
Good food and big portions. Staff was very friendly. Come here to enjoy your breakfast!
(5)Btn C.
My husband and I came here for breakfast this morning and it was great, they have a deal going that if you get there before 10:00am they have a deal where a few items on the menu are only $4.99 for a half portion, if your not a big breakfast eater it's a great deal!
(5)John E.
First visit for breakfast. Very nice. Would recommend for casual breakfast, but make reservations. Can't say much more than a five star recommendation.
(5)Josh N.
if you build a breakfast restaurant I will come. After a morning Easter egg hunting I needed some fuel. The menu advises that pancakes are the specialty but I needed me some protein. The server talked me into a corned beef scramble with home style potato and fried eggs. The style was skillet without the skillet. The potato was a bit of a miss. There was generous green pepper and white onion but the seasoning and overall cooking was off. Some potato was well seasoned, some were not and undercooked. The corned beef was magical and gave back all that was lacking in the potato. The dish also came with two mini pancakes so I got to try the house specialty. Yeah!! Detective Mills asked, What's in the box?....A ton of food.
(4)Buffy M.
AMAZING FOOD! AMAZING ATMOSPHERE! What a quaint little piece of heaven! We will be back! The bread alone will keep you coming back for more! Delish!
(5)Randy S.
NOT BAD - WILL RETURN FOR SURE Took mom out to brunch. Nice cozy little place. Great staff too. Mom had chicken fried steak and loved it. My daughter has mouse cakes (pancakes shaped like Mickey) and she loved it. I had the French toast and loved it. My wife had an egg white omelette and fresh fruit. She thought the egg dish was bland and the fruit wasn't so good. So that was kind of bummer. But we'll be back...
(4)Angel G.
If this is breakfast then I don't know what I have been eating for the past, this place just make all the other breakfast places taste like dog food, typically when I go to ihop or something it's just okay. Coming here has been the first time were I have actually enjoyed the breakfast. I got the cinnamon fresh toast and it was just great, and the lemonade was so good too. I highly recommend coming here cause it's just all so great. The only problem I have with this place is that it raised my standards of a breakfast meal.
(5)Bertina H.
I was running errands after an early dentist appointment & was hungry for breakfast so I stopped by. Great place for breakfast or brunch. They have great breakfast specials ($4.99 before 10 am) & it's very cozy & family friendly. The pancakes are spectacular!
(4)Bryan A.
I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and my wife ordered California Eggs Benedict. Both were extremely tasty and not heavily salted. The Chicken Fried Steak was perfectly cooked (moist in the middle and crispy on the outside) and tasted homemade. Perfect portions! And the service was excellent! They asked my wife 3x if she wanted more coffee. Highly recommend this place and we'll be back!
(5)Greg G.
Went for breakfast this time. The food was really good and the service was first rate.
(5)Wendy L.
First time to this restaurant. We saw the reviews on yelp, thought we'd give it try. So glad we did. The place was nicely decorated and had a southern feel to it. We ordered the chunky monkey and oreo cookie pan cakes for the kids. I'm not a big pan cake fan, but those are some pretty amazing pancakes. My chicken fried steak' just superb. One little thing... booths are too far apart. My three year old ate his whole meal standing up. But he didn't mind. Cause the food's too darn good. Will be back often, I'm sure. Oh! The staffs are super friendly. All-in-all love love loveeeeeeed our experience.
(4)Kristie B.
I wasn't a big fan of this mom and pop type of restaurant. The place is cute. But the food looks so outdated. I ordered the California Benedict. I didn't see that it comes with turkey. TURKEY!!??? On a Benedict???? Why? And it looked like lunch meat turkey. The potatoes were cut in several different sizes which tasted like It was cooked inconsistently. I saw many retired people in the restaurant. They were really enjoying the food and they looked like they come there often. The place is open from 7am to 3pm. The server was new and she mentioned the chef was also new. she wasn't familiar with the menu. I didn't take any pictures because the food wasn't pretty. I'm sorry but I won't be coming back.
(2)Pam M.
Oh my goodness!! A new cafe is in town! Come delight your palette with a sweet selection of pancakes including one with bananas, chocolate chips, caramel topped with whip cream! (Which I had an it was simply amazing!) Or how about an oreo cookie pancake. Wait...a Reese's pancake! There are so many combinations to choose from! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. They have a room off of the main dining area where groups can meet. The staff was very sweet and friendly!! The prices are reasonable. I went for breakfast. The food came quickly and was exactly what I had expected. Then I had a pancake with bananas, chocolate chips, caramel and whip cream! (Have I mentioned yet that they have these deilghtful pancakes?!) I only wanted one bite...I just wanted to see what it would taste like. One bite! Yep, I only wanted one bite! What ended up happening...I left one bite on my plate! It was delicious! Oh, me, oh my! You must check out this local breakfast place. This will definitely be added to my favorite places for breakfast!
(5)Ken D.
To be completely candid, we found this place by driving by & weren't exactly expecting a lot. Wowza! Food was great. But, the service was amazing! We will certainly be back.
(5)Kate F.
Decided to try this out for Sunday breakfast with the family. Cute decor with quaint touches that echo the flower box name. Fun menu options which included cinnamon roll pancakes, Oreo pancakes, pumpkin spice pancakes, and chunky monkey pancakes (with bananas). Overall wait time for the food was long and food was sub-par. Our waitress was very nice and cheerful. Wouldn't head back again for breakfast. Might give their lunch sandwiches a try...rumor has it they are pretty good.
(2)Clayton B.
if you are old you will love this place. the staff is very courteous. its very mom and pop which is nice. food does take some time to come out. my meatloaf was alright just missing something you know? mom's ruben this ruben everyone raves about... left a lot to be desired. either they used the wrong cut of meat for the corned beef cut it wrong or didnt cook it long enough. it was chewy and felt like gum in the mouth. you just kept chewing and chewing...
(3)I'manee B.
Having heard about this place, i decided to give it a try this Saturday morning before work with my friend. I am very picky when it comes to food and restaurants, especially for breakfast, and this place met my high standards easily! It's hard to believe this place has even had a bad review! The decor and feel of the cafe is bright, cozy, and keeps you in good spirits. The staff is incredibly friendly and makes sure you're taken care of. My coffee was hot and fresh, our water stayed full when desired, and the food was absolutely amazing. I felt the waiters/waitresses went above and beyond, and the service was speedy. Both my friend and I were very impressed with our experience here. The owners did a fabulous job! I will definitely return again and again, telling everyone I can to share this amazing restaurant experience with me! Thank you for amazing quality food and service!
(5)Brian D.
This is definitely going to be my new favorite place to go to. I've tried plenty of restaurants and cafes for breakfast and brunch but nothing compares to The Window Box Cafe. First off, I was greeted with a warm welcome from our waitress, Mckenzie, who displayed top-notch customer service. She was definitely very helpful and sincere! Secondly, the atmosphere is great. This place gave us a feel that we were out vacationing trying out a secluded cafe haha. It was unique and didn't have the placelessness that most suburbs have. Lastly, the food was amazing. It gave an authentic at-home taste. I'm not much of a pancake type of person but I decided to give these pancakes a try and I was most certainly glad I did. It was rich with flavor without over doing it. The pricing was perfect as well! I will definitely be coming here often!
(5)Meghan M.
Tried this place for the first time today. We loved the cozy feel, and the people were nice. The food took quite a long time though. I do have 2 small complaints about the food. Both of our sides of bacon were burnt. I looked around at other tables and so were theirs. I guess they just serve burnt bacon? Also, I always order my eggs over medium. It is very rare that I find a place that actually gives me what I ordered. This place did not. The cooks should learn the difference between eggs over easy, over medium, and over hard. If I order over medium, I do not want a runny mess of eggs on my plate. Besides those 2 things, the food was very good and we will return. But only when we are not in a rush, knowing that the service took a while.
(4)David P.
I was staying across the street and ate here almost every day.my company pays for my food so I have my choice of restaurants but this place is fantastic! The entire staff is friendly and prompt McKenzie is awesome!! Keep up the awesome work. Thanks, The guys from Texas!!
(5)Sarah F.
The food was great! Not many people may know about this new place..so be sure to go check it out. Bothe lunch and breakfast...lots of options!
(4)Dale M.
It's always been hard to find a great breakfast place to eat but this is great quality breakfast good service very happy this could end up being our Sunday morning breakfast spot.
(5)Clayton B.
I've tried this place twice (once for lunch, once for breakfast) and it's clear that they are working out there menu. The Reuben sandwich was surprisingly good as well as the seasoned fries. While the service was very slow the staff was very pleasant and attentive. The family vibe definitely comes through. I'm kind of a breakfast snob and especially with the sweet stuff (pancakes, French toast). So when I saw their menu had flavored pancakes that included pumpkin and cinnamon roll variety... I was all in.) While the service was once again slow, the staff was very nice and filled my coffee up a lot. But the pancakes were very disappointing. I don't expect pumpkin pancakes to have a actual pumpkin inside but these were very chewy and had only a hint of "pumpkin pie" flavor. Basically something you'd get from a box at the store. The cream cheese glaze that came with the pancakes also tasted like it was squeezed from a packet. I'd be willing give this place a couple more tries since they're new and very friendly. The menu still needs some work but they're definitely trying.

I was staying across the street from The Window Box, for work. I love checking out local food places, instead of the chain restaurants when traveling. I am soon glad that I came to The Window Box. The first day.....yes, i went there more than once.....I had an omelet with the mini pancakes. OMG it was soon good, and bigger than I expected. I ended up having to take some of it back to my hotel for later. The next time i went, I had the breakfast sandwhich WITH bacon! Believe me, I was NOT disappointed at all. The staff is awesome! Very attentive and recommended a couple of places for us (my coworker and I) to check out while our week in town. McKinzie is AWESOME! We requested her every time we came here. Will definitely come back here, next time we are in town. Thanks Window Box!!!! -The Guys from Texas
(5)Andrew O.
Cute place. Staff was pleasant by obviously undertrained/amateurs. They completely forgot about 1 of our orders and 4 out of the other 5 orders(yes we were a party of 6) were incorrect or incomplete. The food itself was bland and seemed like all if it was made from a box or reheated. None of it seemed like it was prepared from scratch or to order. We will never return here. Not because the experience was so terrible, but because there are too many other great choices for breakfast and lunch in this area.
(1)Ronda T.
Great food! Loved the cheeseburger and it was not greasy. Friendly waitress was super nice to our 5 year old. Love the American feel.
(5)Makayla H.
We are so happy we found this place. The staff were so accommodating! They even offered some fruit for my son while we waited to eat. The food was so good! Fluffy rich pancakes! This is our new favorite brunch spot!
(5)Suzanne J.
My sister and I LOVED this place! So cute inside, shabby chic type décor. we had a great server, very attentive and was full of helpful suggestions. Try the Reese's pancakes, so yum!
(5)Douglas A.
I've been here several times recently and have been pleased each time. The food is well prepared and presented. The staff is friendly and thoughtful.
(5)Liz S.
Tried the Window Box Cafe this morning for the first time, and will definitely be going back! The French Toast was great, eggs were cooked perfect, bacon nice and meaty and crispy. A great little spot that hasn't gotten busy yet, but I'm sure it will and soon as the word gets out.
(5)Sarah H.
Had brunch there this morning and it was amazing! Great food and great service! The staff was very warm and friendly. My boyfriend and I felt right at home! Thank you so much window box cafe, we will be back soon!

The corned beef and hash here is amazing. It's the best we have had in 10 years. My grandma used to make this style. The owners here are the kindest people we have met. Love this place, we are coming back for the chicken fried steak and the French dips next. Yum!!

After reading all the great reviews, I was so excited to come here. First I'll state, I'm not a HUGE breakfast fan, I don't care much for eggs and so what I generally gravitate towards is chicken fried steak. So that's what I had. My dining partner, who is VERY picky and difficult to please, had a veggie omelet with fruit. So I order my csf with gravy on the side, eggs scrambled well and hash browns crispy. It all came out as ordered. The gravy was pretty good but nothing fantastic. The eggs were....eggs. Whatever. But cooked right. The hashbrowns?? *sigh* Just not good at all. Barely crispy. The waitress did notice and even though i said they were fine she brought me another plateful. No way could I even begin to eat all this food. The CSF? Ugh. Seriously, no bueno. It looked kinda funny (I'm kicking myself for forgetting to snap a pic) and tasted funny as well. Old oil? Too man y other flavors in the oil already? I don't know, but it wasn't great. It was kinda tough and the breading was just...weird. My dining partner however was quite happy with her omelet (which is saying alot) lol. I would almost want to go closer to 2 stars for my meal but the waitress not only tried really hard to get my hash browns right, she discounted our meal without any discussion beforehand. That's pretty awesome. She did say they are getting a different brand of hashbrowns so hopefully they'll get better (I'm thinking....shred your own potatoes...but what do I know, right?) If we lived in the area, we MIGHT go back, but since we don't, on the rare occasions we're in the area, there are too many other places to go where we know the food is great.

It was the worst breakfast experience. We ordered the cinnamon roll french toast and the veggie crepe. The veggie crepe had vegetables in it that we're not listed on the menu. I picked up the menu from the front and showed the waitress. I explained that I was allergic to one of the vegetables that was in the crepe and I would need them to remake it like the menu stated. The cinnamon french toast was ok. By the time they brought remake out, I was eating alone. The crepe lacked flavor, was greasy and the sauce was cold. I ate only half of it before we left. There were no offers of a discount. As we were walking out another couple was walking in. They asked us how it was...we wished then good luck! We will not be returning or recommending this place.

Went to four sisters cafe and there was a 30 minute wait on a weekday. So we decided to try the Window Box Cafe a friend told us about. It's tucked back in in five star blvd! When we got there we were seated right away and immediately greeted and got our coffee and water. The service was excellent and our food was hot, fresh and appetizing. The menu offers many yummy choices and the potatoes were delicious! We will definitely be back!!

My brother and I were headed to the Sacramento Convention Center for the annual Unified Wine & Grape Symposium and were looking for a highly-rated place for breakfast. The Window Box Cafe had excellent reviews so we thought "Let's give it a try." That turned out to be an excellent decision because everything about our breakfast was outstanding. The Cafe is located a block or two off the main road but finding it is more than worth the effort. I had the Biscuit and Gravy Platter, and it was among the best I've had. The biscuits were light and tasty and the gravy had a bit of spice, just the way I like it. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausages tasty, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender inside. Yumm! To top it off the price was excellent. Tiffany, our server, was fantastic. She makes you feel welcome, is very professional, has a fantastic personality (she even put up with our corny jokes), and is one of the best servers I've encountered in years of wandering through the western states. Thanks to the Cafe for a great breakfast and I'm looking forward to visiting you again!

Follow up review this wonderful little breakfast hideaway seems to have lost some of what made it so great when it first opened. A frequent visitor who had now been extremely disappointed the last 2 visits. Quality of food was below average and wait time was slow. Not sure if they are just experiencing growing pains or what but they've lost me as a customer.

We live nearby Window Box and I saw such good reviews so today we had an opportunity to try breakfast. There are many choices for breakfast within a mile (early toast, 4 sisters, Black Bear) so competition should be the name of the game. We like supporting local businesses. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated right away and asked for our drink order. I ordered the California Benedict minus the turkey and my companion the veggie crepe. I must say that the food was just average. I wait person must have been new because she looked at the menu along with us as we ordered so that she could see what it came with to place or order. The service was fine and the decor folksy. When I go out I want something that I am not going to make at home. This was something I could do at home. The potatoes were unevenly cut so some were large and others small. My companion got one large crepe that he said was thick and slightly sweet not savory. For $28 for two people with drinks we have many other options nearby.

The eggs benedict were very good - properly poached eggs, a well-bodied hollandaise (though I prefer it with a little bit more acidity), a great english muffin for soaking up some yolk and hollandaise, and a pleasant savory backdrop provided by ham. Would likely come back for it. However, the orange juice, though marked on the menu as freshly squeezed, is according to my palate's opinion most undoubtedly not freshly squeezed as one should be able to expect from such a description. But I asked for clarity's sake after having a sip and they insisted it was - every morning around 5am. Maybe it's "freshly squeezed" just like the Tropicana you can buy in the store is "freshly squeezed." If you like Starbucks coffee you will probably like the coffee served here. Otherwise, you may find that it has a burnt, acrid flavor. Maybe I got the last of a pot that had been sitting on the warming plate for 4 hours. But that's okay - this isn't Intelligentsia or anything - so I suppose we should know to tailor our coffee expectations accordingly, sadly enough. In reflection, I simply wish that a little more love would be given to these beverages that are the staple beverages of any American breakfast.

Very nice cafe. Great friendly and personal service. Had a bacon and ham breakfast burrito. Very tasty. Will definitely be back. Hoping to try lunch next time, if possible.

Went there for the first time today. Took the whole family, including 2 toddlers. This place has got a family feel to it, nice bright atmosphere, and good service with a friendly smile. The lady who seated us also brought crayons and a coloring book to keep the toddlers busy. We enjoyed the food, coffee cups never went empty, and we left the place wanting to come back again the following weekend.

The atmosphere is nice. The menus were paper and were torn which turned me off in the beginning. There was only one waitress ands she was really working hard to keep up. Good portions of food. I had the corned beef hash and eggs it was very good and there was plenty of it. Will come back.

Very good, but, quality food but was slightly cold which suggest it was sitting as we waited but it was good And was plentiful. It was slightly overbearing, waiter came to my table 4 times to ask if everything was ok. Which is great but lil overbearing and that's not including the waitress. The paper menus was kind of a turn off, for such a nice place they should be laminated... but its a very cozy place to eat on a morning. Will I go back? Yes.

Love this place, nicely decorated, very reasonably priced food. Fruit cup had lots of fresh fruit. I will return again.

We had lunch/brunch today at The Window Box Cafe in Rocklin. Another great family-owned restaurant that we will be returning to. The restaurant is comfortable, cheery and clean. The staff were friendly and the attention to service was spot on. On food, I had the Reuben sandwich which was good and I had the option for salad or fries, which is good in my book (I had the salad). My wife had a breakfast scramble. The scramble itself was good and fresh, but the best part of her plate was the breakfast potatoes. They were well seasoned, cooked perfectly and were really tasty. Our daughter, had the breakfast sandwich which she really liked. Prices were very reasonable. The food was fresh, flavorful and tasty. I could tell that word had gotten out on this restaurant as most of the tables were full, which is also a sure sign of a good restaurant. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Really really enjoy this place! A friend and I go to breakfast every Sunday and stumbled upon here after not wanting to wait 30 min everywhere else. They've recently laminated their menus which is a huge plus! I typically get something to go for my husband and they often forget something which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The staff is friendly and are always super nice to my 4 year old son. The portions are good and their pancakes are delicious!!

Came here for breakfast this morning and it was excellent! Very reasonable prices and good size portions. I had the breakfast burrito with bacon and my wife had the strawberry crepes, both were excellent. They do have hash browns as well which is a nice plus that some places don't offer. It is located near a church, so get there early on Sundays before church gets out or be prepared to wait. The restaurant was just starting to get full when we left after 10am. We will be coming back again soon!

Went there for Sunday morning breakfast. Their food is delicious! Amazing Cinnamon buns and omelets! My friend really love their coffee too.

Just discovered our new favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant. Had a wonderful experience. The owner is running around and working. She was sweet and welcoming and the food was so fresh and homemade. The fresh baked bread is to die for! Great place and will defiantly be back soon!

Great cafe for breakfast or lunch. Wonderful senior selection. Warm and inviting, from the bright yellow walls to the smiling staff. Love the breakfasts and the lunches, both delicious to the last bite, if you can finish it all. Always piping hot and attractively placed on plates. The Window Box simple sparkles with delicious food, welcoming ambiance and great meals.

My husband and I eat at this little restaurant at least 2 to 3 times a month. The food is always fresh and good. The staff is friendly and work hard to make your meal enjoyable. We have been eating here since it opened and have had only one questionable experience from a waitress that looked like she was running late. And that waitress is no longer there. We always give new restaurants second chances and this one was definitely worth it. We particularly enjoy that it is not a chain and is a family owned restaurant. They just try harder. We will continue to make it one of our regulars.

It's official!! The Window Box Cafe is "THE CAFE" to dine at in the Rocklin/Roseville area if you want amazing food and a pleasant atmosphere! Not only is the service excellent, the food is exactly the kind that reminds you of home cooking and Moms favorite recipe! I have eaten there FOUR times this week! I met the Owner today, and can tell that she is very passionate about her customers, making them feel right at home, and all of their needs met! What a refreshing surprise in this adorable quaint Cafe!! I will definitely be coming back! Their FRENCH DIP SANDWICH and the Au Jus is to die for!!!

Driving through from Reno and saw the great reviews so decided to try it for breakfast. I had the spinach omelet with the two pancakes. I was not disappointed. The portions are large so I took home leftovers.

I loved it! The decor is floral and bright, but it felt a bit stiff. The booths are comfy. The staff was warm and welcoming. I ordered Nick's Catch, I think it was called. It's a nicely proportioned fish and chips platter with a small side of coleslaw. It's just under $10. Everything was piping hot and crispy. Nothing was soggy or fried at too low a temp. This fish was golden brown and had the perfect crunch on the outside. It wasn't fishy at all. The fries were crunchy and perfectly seasoned. I hate salty food; nothing was over seasoned. The coleslaw was the best I've ever eaten. It's a bit sweeter than any I've had, and the sauce was way thicker. It was *scrumptious*. The tarter sauce was very simple and delicious too. I am told everything is fresh made. It looked and tasted fresh, and took a bit longer to get out to us as from scratch tends to do. Our glasses never ran empty. The server was a lovely gentleman who stayed on top of our needs and wants. I really hope these guys are able to stick around!

New breakfast stop so it was not busy. Menus looked worn for amount of time they have been open. But many unique pancake options. We enjoyed creating omelets that arrived hot. Very filling and good. Staff very friendly. Worth a stop at this new business.

Great American food menu. Wonderful and friendly and quick service. A delightful little place, yet big enough for a large group! I'll be coming back here again with my friends and family!

This was the 2nd time we have been to The Window Box. They were very busy, had a large party which slowed the service down, which didn't matter to us since we were visiting with our grand kids. Good food and reasonable price. Will be back again.
