Great Sushi, and good service. Their Pricing is a little high for comfort, but you must try their dragon roll!

I had to return the sushi because the scallops smelled and tasted like old fish. I told the waiter that I was not going to pay for it. Sushi in Riverside? I'm Japanese, and am picky, but I'd rather eat McDonalds sushi than this......straight up. PASS

My husband and I love this place. The service is pretty good. They all work together. The Salmon sushi is always so fresh. I love the tuna sushi. Last time it was dry but hey things happen. Normaly its amazing. The baked lobster roll is pretty good and I love the spicy tuna roll. Its our go to sushi out of all places in Riverside.

wow this place sucked, we called in to see if they were still serving all you can eat about 9, we go in and order our first round then they say the sushi bar is a little backed up its gonna be a little bit for our sushi to come out which is ok i don't mind that, but they serve us the first round and didnt even give us everything we ordered, and then when we tried to order the second round they tell us they are out of rice an wont serve anymore sushi to us and still expect us to pay the full price for all you can eat. after talking to the manager she offered to let us pay by roll which is a rip off because the rolls are over priced and they tried to charge us for rolls that never came out!!! by far the worse sushi experience ive ever had. Go to asahi thats by far the best sushi place in riverside oh yea the lady had the nerve to talk about us in korean not knowing we had koreans in the group dont eat here

I had a bad experience tonight, it wasn't quite hell but I can smell hell coming from the sushi bar. I had a terrible waitress who messed up our order. Main meals proceeded the appetizer and one of the orders came at the end of the meal. Sushi was passable but service just plain terrible. Waitress gave a sad excuse of how long it took to prepare the popcorn lobster appetizer which was cold when it got to us. We all knew it was BS. I gave up on ever seeing my sushi roll order and shared meals with my wife and daughter. At the end of the meal, I saw the waitress pickup my lost sushi roll from the bar and I can tell she knew she made a mistake. She brought it to the table and I declined it, she insisted I had to take it since it was already made. By the way, no apologies this time. Reluctantly, I took the roll to go. We will never return to this place again!

Watched owner make another mega-sake bomb layout with about 30 glasses of beer and 31 of sake to celebrate a girl's b-day. Afterwards: beers for everyone - on the house! My hubby and I don't like beer, but I love seeing how hospitable the place is -- always passing out free cocktails (those we do like!). The owner and sushi chefs are always up for a sake-bomb slugging contest. It just makes for a FUN atmosphere. Also, neither of us care for sushi much, and we LOVE the extensive and delicious non-sushi menu. Their tempura veggies are out of this world - I can really taste that they keep their fry oil really fresh - its very light and sweet. One of my favs is to come in for a bowl of their delicious udon noodle soup for lunch. I honestly don't know why so many people have yelped so-so reviews about Oishi and then name dropped some other sushi bar they like better (always the same name - perhaps their employees are busy yelping!?!) But, honestly, we're fine seeing Oishi stay a great hang out for the neighborhood - they're plenty busy already.

The lady and i went out for coffee and ended up with Sushi... They had all you can eat for like $22 but i wasn't that hungry. So we ordered 3 rolls, some miso, and two beers and two saki's - by the way they were by one get one! Not a bad deal. Then mid meal a guy we figured was the manager came through and gave us two free very colorful martini like girlie drinks w/ umbrellas... i'm not going to say no to a free drink , so i put my pinky out and drank up. The waitress was attentive enough which is what i like - don't bug me, don't forget me. that's all i ask. We talked, ate and drank and towards the end of the night the guy who dropped off the rainbow drinks earlier came back (slightly inebriated - you could tell but it was all in good fun) and he asked us if we wanted Saki bombs - on the house - he mumbled this is slightly drunk broken english and it took me a minute to understand but not one minute after i said yes, it was abundantly clear. He showed up w/ beer and saki ... and a basket full of markers... saying 'dis is for loser' ... no idea what that meant , we downed our drinks. i first, then him. then my girl. Well turns out... the markers were face markers and the looser gets their face draw on :) My girl is a good sport (1 beer, 2 saki's and a mixed drink def helped w/ that :) and this new found friend and I took to painting my fiancee up to look like a clown. FTW. Turns out.. he's the husband of the owner or manager or something, which actually makes it funnier. to have a guy who doesn't work there bring you free drinks and draw on your face is just too damn funny. we'll be back. good food. good price. entertaining staff!

I don't even want to give a star, I feel so disgusted right now, first of all we come here all the time, never any problem great service, great atmosphere we love it, when we came tonight I don't know if we will come back, I usually do all you could eat, but wasn't to hungry so just order a roll, my kids and husband they all did AYCE. We asked for edamame, and then filled out the paper, my food came out first, then theirs, after they had finished theirs waited for about 10 mins, finally my husband waves down the lady up from asked if we could order more n get refills, still our server has not came by, all night this was how it was, never getting refills on drinks n being able to order more sushi ( we are paying for all u can eat) finally my husband says just get the bill we were so irritated, I get the bill pay for it n let the lady up front know that this was the worst time here very disappointed, went back to the table n the server ask us what's wrong, we said nothing then she said the last up front said u weren't happy, well yes but we don't need to disgust this with you, then she just kept talking to the point we felt attacked, I tried getting up n she was blocking me so I couldn't, really lady, never in my life have I had a server come up n ask me that and treat us that way. So disgusted by that, don't think we will ever be back.

Makes me sad to give them only 2 stars, because it's one of my favorite sushi spots, buy the service keeps getting worst and worst. #1 they make it very difficult for groups to eat here. I always try to go early when we have a group. Regardless of how early we go we always end up waiting at least an hour for a table. This past time was the worst. I could see an open table from outside and asked to be sat there. We had 8 adults and 3 small children, when I asked if we could have that table I was told no, we wouldn't fit. 30 minutes later we got sat at that exact table. It's like they wanted us to wait outside and make it appealing to people like it was a club. #2 when we were sat we were told immediatly that we would be charged a large party gratuity. As of the first of the year restaurants are not supposed to charge such gratuity. #3 the service was horrible. 3 hours later we left finally getting served and our bill. 7 of us had all you can eat and it probably took an hour and a half to get our first round of sushi and it was an incomplete order at that. Did I mention we had kids with us?! Try entertaining them through this! We were charged $50 in gratuity but got $5 of service . :( the sushi is great, highly recommend the baked lobster roll. Again just don't recommend coming with a party more thank 2...because they can't handle it.

Great customer service! !! The owner was extremely gernerous offered my table sake and asked to play the sake game thingy (couldent drink because my friends and I are under age....next year forsure!!!. I order the salmon Benton plate .I didn't care so much for the teriyaki sauce on my salmon. But other than that the food was very fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place, they also sat us down with 10 Minutes. Better than the wait at Joe's sushi down the street

I can not say enough great things about this place. Everything from the environment, people, food, and alcohol was excellent! My husband and I decided to try it when we moved close by and had noticed that it was always busy. My husband said the Super Philadelphia Roll was the best he had ever had and the tuna melted in my mouth. If you have two AYCE meals at a table you get a free Suju cocktail (green apple is yummy). This place is awesome. Try it!

AYCE SUSHI awesome food great service and awesome music

  • Larry C.

pros: place was pretty cool, nice decor and shit 2 hour time limit..which is pretty good but i wouldn't stay here for more than an hour cons: they slow down orders to get you full AYCE was limited to certain rolls but more choices than asahi for sure rice was not fresh and bloated with water sushi started coming out all soggy, floppy, and unappealing, not consistent at all Watch out for old korean lady working the cashier, she gets feisty on fridays when her husband drinks with all the peeps. She tried to charge me for poorly made food that she took back. All she said was "I don't want to argue anymore and I don't care if you come back" Don't know why people give this place good reviews, must be there first time popping their cherries.

If you read my profile you will see that I had a choice sushi would be my last meal on earth, so what I am saying is I love sushi!! Oishii has a great selection of rolls, from your basic spicy tuna to more fancy ones like dynamite or volcano. When I come here I order for sure the firecracker roll. Spicy scallop inside and spicy tuna on top with a extra side of hot sauce, so yummy! The restaurant now offers a all you can eat sushi option: $20 lunch and $24 dinner. As I can't have more than 2 rolls I rather order a la carte. The all you can eat sounds like a great deal if you want to indulge in a great sushi night out with friends! The price includes appetizer, soup, nigiri and rolls but there is a penalty for leaving left overs. I have always set at the sushi bar and the service was always great! Friendly attentive staff. I don't even live in Riverside but when I come here on business this is a must stop.

I just got back from having the All-You-Can-Eat special and my experience was sub-par. The problem was not with the food but rather with the staff. Sushi was decent but they use a lot of rice. I'm not the best with chopsticks so some of the rice tends to be left behind. In the 45 minutes that I was there, I had 3 different waitresses come over "warning" me that I have to eat all the rice or I will be charged extra. I understand the rules of AYCE, I don't need someone reminding me every 10 minutes. They managed to make me feel uncomfortable along with my friends at the table. This is not how you treat a customer. In my opinion, you wait until they have finished their meal and then you can let them know of the extra charge. Customers do not need to be badgered. You pointed out the rules which are on the table, now let me decide how much rice I want to leave on my plate. Due to their lack of good service I will no longer be returning and I will advise my friends and associates not to go either.

Great sushi, however, service is slower than your average sushi spot and the hot green tea and miso soup were barely warm.

I have been to this place a bunch of times with co-workers for lunch and usually get the all-u-can eat deal. They have a good selection of rolls and fish, but its sometimes a hit and miss with the freshness of the fish. The baked lobster roll and mussles are good here though.

If you want fresh sushi, stop by this place. It's amazing! The chefs are great and know their stuff. The wait staff is friendly and very helpful without being intrusive. Go with the All-You-Can-Eat deal - it's good and they don't limit you on what it includes - all the rolls and sushi you can eat! There were free drinks being passed around as well. Try the Soju or the plum wine - Yum!

Good sushi. I love their baked salmon and baked lobster rolls. But, people there at times can have a little attitude. The owner doesn't smile and one time, I was there with my boyfriend on AYCE and the server told me "Are you sure you guys can finish all that?" Its like four rolls! Either way, I will go back here just because I love the place. :)

Abt to walk in and saw the health deptmt grade : a C!!! Wow. We, my usual gals, freaked out and stood outside for like 10 minutes deliberating what to do. We really like the #65-baked lobster roll. & since we were super hungry, decided to suck it up/live dangerously and stay. Half way thru the manager/owner guy came by and said that they just got upgraded to an A. He apologized - I guess he saw how scared we were. As soon as u r seated they serve you miso soup & a bowl of soy beans. Decor is cute & service has always been nice. The spicy tuna had too much rice. The dragon roll was alright. For my money I prefer Cabin Sushi, because their rolls taste better. But Oishii is a convenient spot to come for a quick lunch. Oh BTW this is my 100th review & I am posting via Ipod Touch.

We love this place the sushi rolls are fresh and customer serves is great. I recommend this place to everyone, we try other sushi restaurant in riverside and we keep coming back here because its so good

I love the rattlesnake roll... it's like a sushi chimichanga. The service is hit or miss (they always take forever to bring the check when you're clearly done). Joe's is better, but they don't have the rattlesnake. The little yogurt shop they just opened next door is pretty good too.

If I could give less than one star I would!!! This place is crap! The regular menu differs from the alm you can eat, they basically punish you for going all you can eat.... Go to masas or asahi

Before I get going on this review, I should say that I am writing a small series of reviews for Riverside restaurants, and I feel they all suffer from a similar problem: they're just very lackluster. Ethnic restaurants where the food is pitifully short of even fakey-good. Oishii falls within this category. My first complaint about the restaurant is the food isn't really that good. It's not bad, it's just not good. The California rolls are the best thing I've had from this restaurant, and I don't particularly like California Rolls to in the first place. The teriyaki is dreadfully flavourless as is the Tonkatsu. Oishii helped me prove the rule of good Japanese food: if they put black sesame seeds on your rice or teriyaki, watch out, it probably won't be that good. This is my primary complain about this restaurant. It's just lackluster. It makes you frustrated that seemingly no new (or old) restaurant in this part of Riverside can get food down to an acceptable facsimile of what it purports to be. My second complaint is the unavailability of an item on the menu. They're like 0/5 on having gyoza when I've gone...it's sort of become a little private joke to myself to order them and then be told later they don't have any. At the end of the day, here's how it stands. This restaurant isn't that good, but your choices near Riverside Plaza leave you generally in that position. I'm not opposed to going back, I'm just horribly disappointed in how hard it seems to be to get a decent Japanese bento lunch in the area. Oishii is Japanese for "delicious, tasty". Don't be fooled.

I gave you a chance and found your sushi to be good, but your service to be inconsistent. I gave you a second chance after the C in the window made me worry about your cleanliness. Your third chance was your last though, and I won't be back. When I went in today your miso soup was lukewarm, edamame was mushy, and the roll that I ordered looked nothing like what the picture on the menu showed. It was covered in a sauce that my companion described as tasting of nacho cheese. When I pointed out that the food I was served looked nothing like what was on the menu and suggested that you update the picture, your response was "well, that's just a picture." When I pointed out that the law says that pictures must match what is actually served, your response was "well, what about fast food restaurants?" When I pointed out that we weren't in a fast food restaurant, your response was to call me rude. When I asked for a manager, you never came back with one. While the appropriate response would have been to say "I'm sorry" at some point in the conversation, you were defensive from the start about me not being served what I ordered. If your food can't stand on its own without being bathed in sauce, it's not worth eating.

the service is great and the lunch special is a phenomenal value. The all you can eat sushi is one of the best in the area. The place is clean and the decor is pleasing and deceptively Japanese, considering they are in a strip mall next to Rite-Aid. I go here once every couple of weeks and I have never been disappointed with the food or service.

  • Ashleigh Q.

Some of the sushi is super fresh, but you can't really enjoy it due to the rest. The sushi is all basically sauce free. No Eel sauce on the eel. No Ponzu on the Albacore, no chilie on the red snapper. Don't try and ask for it either, you wont get it. We didn't even get any wasabi and ginger, and when we did, she took it away with our dirty bowls! Wanted to charge us for more! No refills on the drinks unless you hunt the waitress down. Skip this place!

Quality: The quality isn't acceptable to me. The fish was warm, texture is very unpleasant and mushy, their spicy scallop roll was totally inedible. When the fish isn't dissolving, it is dry. I assume it would be better if they served it cold. There is also a Oishii Sushi further inland, located in Moreno Valley, where the fish is far more acceptable. I have no idea what the excuse is for this location. The first time I came to this location the service was nonexistent and we could have left without paying because of their lack of attention. The second time I came here, I was a guest for a birthday and the service was very attentive and we were gifted plenty of free drinks. The third and final time I came, there was a loud brohoe party at the bar. They were inconsiderate and behaved as if they were at a house party. The service was terribly slow and we could not grab the attention of the three servers that breezed past us, none of which took the initiative to assign themselves as our server. They were too busy gawking at the birthday crowd as they took sake shots with the chef. Due to the Chef's lack of focus, we got the same roll three consecutive times, two of which we had to send back. They gave us two disgusting rolls we did not order, in a sorry attempt of consideration. I gave up on getting the roll I had really wanted that particular night and opted for the check. We waited 25 mins for 2 servers to bring us two separate checks, with two separate amounts. We felt terrible for having to pay for the experience. Seriously. wtf.

Been here many times and remember it being better. This most recent time, we had the AYCE sushi for dinner and although we got our money's worth, the quality wasn't there. We'd come back since it's local and the wait is usually minimal to none, so it's convenient, but not a place I'd take anyone to to impress them.

Made reservations over a week prior to our party. When we arrived they informed us they had the wrong date. After 2 hours most of us were still unserved, their claim is that there is a 'rush' in the main area, however they served one of our late arrivals before others who were here an hour before. Avoid this place. There are better options in Riverside

  • Richard G.

This place is horrible. Went there today for lunch. We were impressed that there were so many people there for lunch. We got our first round and we were utterly taken aback by the boldness they had in serving such huge portions of rice with the tiny slivers of fish on top. I had to ask for wasabi four times and then I finally walked up to the bar and begged them for some. The food took forever. The only thing good there was the garden salad I had to order over and over again because I didn't want to waste my money on so much rice. The fish was room temperature and the lady serving us would roll her eyes and even gasp everytime I asked her over and over again for wasabi. I am not sure how this place is still in business or even why they were so full. I wanted to just walk out of there but I decided to ride it out thinking it would get better. No such luck. I was ripped off but I won't let that happen again.

  • Jennifer G.

This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Everyone there is friendly, I enjoy the atmosphere, you can take your time & not feel rushed, & the food is good. I've only had the raw fish rolls there & each one I've tried has been very good. The only thing I dislike about this place is their "all you can eat." If you order something from the all you can eat menu, you have to eat the whole thing or they will charge you for the plate. So, if you are a first timer to sushi, don't do the all you can eat. You may not like it, and then get stuck paying for it.

This morning we wanted Sunday Brunch, but didn' t have the heart or the budget for The Mission Inn's 30.00 Sunday Brunch. We've eaten here before, but never for Sunday brunch, and I must say it's a really smart place if you like sushi. The normal sushi bar becomes the Bruch area where Sashimi, California Rolls, Shrip Tempura Rolls w/ Tuna, and Shrimp are layed out. Then theres Noodles. Chicken, Beef, and Ribs are there too for those of you who want more substance. Veggie Tempura, and Shrimp Tempura are very good. I tried the Mimosa, but after half glass i stayed with the Hot Tea. (1.50 extra) At $17.95 I found the food good. My boyfriend is much more of a sashimi eater than I and he enjoyed the selection and freshness. If you want pancakes and omlets, stick with the Mission Inn (or Sevilla) but if you're up for something different try Oishii.

I wasn't a fan of the service for the all you can eat. You are supposed to get 3 rounds of food if you buy the all you can eat meal. After the first round, we had to waive and get the waitress's attention. But that was after about 10 minutes. There was not even that many people in the restaraunt. I can only imaging how it would be were there a lot of customers. But my friend told me that the trick is to sit at the sushi bar to give the orders to the chefs personally. I knew the sushi wasn't going to be the greatest, being so far from the ocean, but I was willing to give it a chance. The sushi wasn't bad actually. The disappointment came when I ordered a hot clam sushi roll(I forget the name). When it came out, the clams were cold but the sauce was hot. The combination of the service and the cold (supposed to be hot) roll is why I am giving this rating. I'd actually give a 2.5 if there were half stars but I'm not going up 3 yet yet.

i've been to all of the sushi bars in riverside and hands down oishii's is the best sushi i've tasted. The fish is always fresh and cold and their presentation of their food is very pleasing to the eye. On top of the good food the service was excellent, the whole staff including the two managers make you feel right at home and as if you are vip. i recommend anyone to try them once and you'll keep coming back. The all u can eat is by far the best deal.

Had the breaded pork cutlet bento box and was amazed by the quantity of food. The pork... well, I took it home and gave it to my neighbors dog (very dry). For under $10, it was just okay. The sushi was fine. Next time, I will just have the sushi.

All the times I've came here I've had GREAT service. I love the decor, and the ambiance of this place, very nice and relaxed. The all you can eat sushi is bomb. Definitely one of my favorites in Riverside.

a beautifully decorated sushi place with crappy service must eats: - the yellow tail sashmi was fresh -the sushi overall was pretty good, the lobster roll was a little too salty for my liking dont eats: -the edamame was freaking cold and gross decor: this is what gives this place any stars. the decor was awesomely cute. with paper lanterns, asian umbrellas, booths that had cushions and pillows. so cute! room: lots of dining area and parking! service: complete crap! although there was this one guy who was running around like a chicken with his head cut off... it was sad... the freaking stupid girl with brown hair that worked there (if i would've gotten her name i would put her on blast). we asked her if we could get some plates because we had sushi and noodles come out at the same time, she said ok, and turned back to what she was doing organizing and cleaning the table next to us. LIKE WE'D LIKE TO WAIT FOR HER. there was no one at the resturant that needed to be seated and half the resturant at the time was empty SO TELL ME WHY DID SHE HAVE TO KEEP CLEANING? i guess i'm so angry at this point because she ignored us for the first 15 minutes while we sat their aimlessly with no menu. wth?? to make matters worse, the guy who was busy running around already... was asked to finish cleaning her table because her dumb crazyness wanted to sit some people at this particular table, when there were other tables that were clean and perfectly fine. why doesnt her lazy butt clean it herself? IN ADDITION, she told the customers after they sat down, "sorry the table is damp" and rolls her eyes at the guy cuz he didnt make time to go over the table with a dry towel or something. i would be like wth.. why dont u sit us at the table next to us thats clean and not damp? anyways if i was in the mood i would probably complain to the owner that she sucks, but im just letting yelpers know, if you come across some girl with brown hair there, beware for some crappy service price:moderately priced. what you would usually pay for sushi overall: i will probably never go here again. the service pissed me off i'll just find somewhere else to take my money for some good sushi. what a shame too cuz this place was one of the best decorate places i've seen in a while. stupid girl with brown hair. a good meal and easily be ruined if the company or service is bad... 2 stars for decorations 1 star for the running around guy 1 star for yummy yellow tail -1 star for gross edamame -1 star no menus when seated -1 star for bad service -1 star for the stupid girl with brown hair -1 star for not spicy wasabi

Their all you can eat is overpriced. If you don't get all you can eat then it's still overpriced. I love their firecracker but that's it. It always seem hectic like a lot of screaming and running servers when it's not that busy. ASAHI SUSHI IS SO MUCH BETTER in Riverside!

  • Nathan M.

This place has awesome rolls! I always get the rattlesnake and dragon rolls here because those are some of my favorites. It's a really lively and busy night here on Saturdays and the ambiance of the whole setting really sets a fine mood for the customers. I love the quality of the fish here too, they are really nicely colored and the texture is very fresh. However, some of the waitresses have a hard time speaking English but they understand orders just fine haha so it's all good.

so after hearing only good things about this place, my friends and i finally decided to try it. i wish i could have given this place more stars because the sushi wasn't bad (overpriced though), but i'm really not one for bad service. only after our first round of all you can eat sushi our waitress tells us that they ran out of rice! what kind of sushi establishment runs out of rice?! regardless our entire party was SUPER dissapointed. on top of that we realized that we didn't receive two of the rolls that we had on our first order -_- we asked for a discount, but instead just got charged individual rolls. with their prices we were still paying a good amount for nothing. the hostess/owner was also talking about our party in korean without her knowing that i could totally understand and translate everything to my friends. dinner was cut short and we left hungry. id rather go to asahi (ANYDAY!) and wait in their lines for sushi in rside.

This is me and the boyfriend's fav sushi spot . Close to home , pretty quick service even on busy weekends. All you can eat for the bf and the baked lobster + salad for me. We love it !

Great food but if you are on all you can eat they keep pushing to fill your drinks annoyingly so you order less and the server gets on your nerves. Enough with the refills. Shoe fly!!! Also, not a family friendly place. There is so changing table in the restaurant. Wtf. So because of that i change my babies diapers at the table hoping they get the hint. Quit being cheap and put in changing tables in the restrooms like every other restaurant in america! Cheapos!!!

Having selection with all you can eat is key. Too many 8piece options, so you really only get to try a couple types and BOOM you're full. Or you can do the ala cart and pay a lot more. Service and staff are friendly but it would be nice if they'd up their game for a 23.95 all you can eat.

Great sushi! Always fresh and a great price. I have had all diffrent kinds of rolls and never once been disappointed. They also have great beer specials.

Run. Do Not Look Back!! Between the "freshly" unfrozen fish, ridiculously small portions and service you're better off grabbing fish from a 7-11.

This place is the best sushi in Riverside so far. They have good service and good AYCE, I would recommend this place to anyone. They Volcano Deluxe is delish!!

I always eat sushi here because it is all you can eat and it is fairly cheap The sushi is always extremely fresh and don't leave any sushi left over because they will charge you though They also have very good sake and Japanese beers

Horrible horrible horrible! I don't understand people who give this restaurant anything but a one star? Do you not get out much? Try Sayaka in Colton or Nico Nico in Redlands so you can see by comparison what a dump this place is. Server was rude; Sushi took 20 minutes to arrive, this probably explains their 2 hr time limit, I have never heard if such a thing; Rolls were small and small fish portions; Fish was old and thin. Rolls and service got worse as our group stayed, like we were being watched and punished? Only made it to the second round and cashed in, not worth the hassle! Skip this place, there are better places nearby. Sorry I can't give a Zero on stars :/ Maybe this place was good a one time but as of 7/30/14, just sad...

My friends raved about this sushi place in Riverside for a while so I wanted to try it with them while I was visiting them for their daughter's promotion (not graduation, promotion to junior high school). There are not a lot of decent restaurants in Riverside, let alone decent sushi places. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. We each ordered the bento with salmon, California rolls, and four-piece sushi. There was nothing spectacular about the sushi and California rolls. The salmon served was two thin pieces that were overcooked. It was not too difficult to overcook the salmon because the slices were so thin. I did like the ginger salad dressing. Service was okay. The servers didn't come by to check on us during the meal and we had to ask for the check from two different servers before we got it. I have eaten at a lot of other better sushi places but sadly, I guess it's the best sushi in town.

i've been supporting Oishii since its grand opening.. but last night dinner was a disapointment. i didn't do the all you can eat , so i ordered a la cart one cut roll and one hand roll and the bill came out to be the same as if i was to order AYCE :(

This place is great. They had fast service and the staff was really friendly. The food was amazing. I sat at the bar and i got to see some of the sushi chefs doing thier thing. it was fun to watch. I will definitly be back.

Great service and yummy sushi. Had to wait a bit but well worth it. Place was packed for dinner and kinda noisy, the back room is more secluded and quiet. Complimentary soup was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Fun and vibrant atmosphere w option of bar seating. It was poppin' when we went on a Sunday night, but service was still okay and relatively prompt. They messed up the order, but fixed it really quickly. Fresh and tasty sushi w a great balance of spicy and savory.

I went here with a fellow large friend and we got down. I had a Jessica Roll, Super Philadelphia roll and 10pcs of Nigiri sushi. The service was a little slow because it was Christmas Eve, but tolerable. I have been here many times before and highly recommend. Their Nigiri to Rice ratio is extremely generous.

DID SOMEONE SAY "SAKE BOMB?!" The first time my husband and I ate at Oishi in Riverside, it was purely a 'fact finding' mission. By the time the laughter, fourth plate of sushi (loved the baked lobster) and 2nd glass had arrived, we had already decided that we would have to come back again... And then we heard the commotion as guests enthusiastically lined the bar for the free Sake Bomb! It was an overall good experience with good service to round out the night.

Never again will we even try this place we arrived at 6 pm pm told them we have 9 people they said it would be 30 min. At 6:45 pm they said it would another 30 min, finaly 45 min later they sat us only for the waitress to not even to take our order but to tell us that because some one the larger people in our group might block a walk way and we would have to get up and wait longer to be seated and we should have told them we had 9 people in our group. We told them this is ridiculous we have wanted over an hour to be stated now been told we have to get up and wait longer. We said why no one could tell us why we were being asked to get up as we left the "Manager" said in a very sarcastic manner thank you for coming sorry we dont have a table for your group.

I love this place, one of the best I have been to. Their food is always fresh. My friend would never eat sushi but because they have done a custom order for us(with a small fee)he will eat it and does not mind when I pick sushi(which is most of the time). We like that the chicken is included in the all you can eat.

  • Rosemary G.

Well I've been here a couple times with my family and I have always gotten a special roll with octopus, cucumber and cream cheese in it. That's all only those three items inside. This time we asked for the same thing but they refused to make it we even asked the waitress who served us the last time but she denied that she ever gotten an order like that. The lady even took the time to question all the chefs if they've ever made a roll like mine but they said no. So I learned they are liars and lazy. Seriously they took the time to question all the chefs but they can't spend a minute making the most simple? Unbelievable.

  • April S.

The fish they use in their rolls is not top quality. I got a few mushy pieces of fish on rice. The rice under the fish is an ok portion, not too much like some other places. Beware though, the AYCE menu is for 2 hours only, and only certain rolls are on it. There are quite a few rolls missing from the AYCE menu compared to the regular menu. They don't include the rolls that are loaded with fish and extra goodies. This is a major deterrent for me because I take my time when I eat and I expect most of the rolls to be available to me because I only like certain ones. Of the 3 rolls I could eat, only 1 was available on the AYCE menu. They call themselves AYCE, but it's really not.

Used to be a regular for many years. Over the last two years customer service has gone wayyyy down. Took my mother for a birthday dinner and the managed to ruin her evening. The sushi and rice have gone down in quality but the service is arrogant, rude, and does not care about customers. We spent over 100 dollars in the restaurant but they had the courage to charge is 3.00 dollars for left over rice that was too sweet and overcooked. It was only abt .30 cents of rice but made a huge fuss that we could not leave it on the plate and had to be charged for it. I asked for a manager who never came and refused to see us. Threw the birthday icecream to my mother and they no longer sing or make you wear a wig. They are all very rude and management ignores you even when I called them several times on the phone that same evening. They are just money grubbing people who think 3.00 dollars is everything but in the long run they lose thousands of dollars in patronage because no one wants to be treated thay way or be forced to eat a bad batch of rice.

So yummy, great service . dinner all you can eat was like $24. not bad

  • Austin P.

Service was a little slow but entirely worth it for the quality of sushi they put out. For a hole in the wall in a strip mall I did not expect a super Philadelphia roll to have salmon that perfectly melt-in-your-mouth. The spicy tuna hand roll was exquisite. And the super oiishi roll was to die for (I would swim in that spicy mayo). Definitely going back! I wasn't disappointed and neither will you be.

Went there on a Saturday night with my husband and baby. Got there around 5:30pm and a waiting was already started. Did the AYCE and it was totally worth it! All the rolls and sushi came with just the right amount of rice. Fish was definitely fresh. All staff were extremely nice and helpful. Dining area and restroom were clean. We will definitely return the next time we are in town.

Alright, I hate to write this but we were treated SO poorly by a women who says she's the owner, I think her name is Joann. I called yesterday around 3 to reserve a table for 9 for my husbands birthday, the girl who answered sounded young and very friendly and she said that sounded great and she'd see us at 7. We get there 5 til 7 and I go to check us in and "Joann" is at the front and rudely says "you need to wait until there are at least 6 of you here before you can sit at your table." I thought that was weird because there was 5 of us and I made reservations and didn't see that she was making it so difficult, it was cold outside and started to drizzle. So I said fine. So while waiting the rest of our party showed up and two extra people came so I came in to ask her if that was ok. She rolled her eyes and snapped "No! We only have room for 10 people, your first table isn't even ready (even though it was now 7:15 and I made reservations) and now you want 11 people?!" I calmly asked why she felt the need to be so rude and all she said was "well, I'm the owner". Lol so we all decided screw that, let's go to Pacific Cabin Sushi! They were SO welcoming and HAPPY to have a big party because guess what?? That means lots of money for them. The sushi was actually better and fresh. I was a regular at Oishii and I can't believe I was treated so bad by the owner of all people. We are so glad we left because we had a great night at Pacific Cabin and didn't feel like a bother. Never again Oishii! I wish there was an option for 0 stars! ****ALSO: does anyone else noticed all the bad reviews for this place are hidden? If you go down below there are 52 reviews that aren't recommended and a lot of them had a similar experience. ****

I have been here more than twenty times in the past two years and I believe I can make a very accurate review of this business. I love the food and the service. Every time I've been here everyone is very friendly. The fish is always fresh and delicious. I have never once been disapointed with this sushi bar. I always try other places but find my self coming back to this one. The only thing I don't like is the 6 or more people they add 18% gratuity but at least they are upfront about it.

Came here to eat on Friday night with my girlfriend. The sushi was amazing. The staff was all in a great mood. It wasn't overly crowded. The atmosphere is casual, but very nice. I enjoyed eating here and look forward to coming back for the all you can eat.

This place is like a marriage with terrible in-laws. You want to like them but it just doesn't happen. Service throughout the visit kept getting more spotty than good. What happened? Our server was practically non existent. Drinks were hard to get refills for and AYCE order page kept being ignored even though it was sitting there ready to be taken. Will I be back? Maybe, but it'll be second guessed to other numerous sushi places that are popping up in Riverside.

I can always count on my Golden Tiger roll to be a delicious as the first time I visited this place. The service is top notch. This is the only sushi place I go to when I'm in Riverside.

My husband and I met a few friends here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. They offer All You Can Eat Sushi for 23.95. There is a lunch special for 19.99 on weekdays. Bottles of Hite were Buy one, Get one for .95. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The sushi was excellent. We definitely did the AYCE justice, I can't even remember everything we ordered. Service was pleasant and efficient. My favorites were the Jessica roll and the Baked Lobster roll. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The rolls weren't heavy on the rice, the proportions were good. This was my favorite sushi place in the Riverside area so far.

  • Lori K.

Really good sushi, slow service most of the time, A lot of our items is never brought to us when we do tbr AYCE menu, like some rolls and the mussels, We always find ourselves back here anyway because its that good!

  • Sara W.

This is a great AYCE place in riverside. They have good sushi too! Their rolls are very general but that means they have all the popular ones. The baked salmon roll, rainbow and hot night are good. We usually get all you can eat but we r soooo full by the third roll and miso soups. They have to small tofu in their miso which makes me thing they make it from soup powder packets. But it's not bad. The baked mussels are not good here and they burned my boyfriends hand. The hamachi is our favorite and we also enjoy a simple crunch roll. Writing this review is making me crave some edemame! Well to sum it up they have great servers! And the place is always busy. So ur food comes kinda slow. But we enjoy having a good place near by. :) plus it is wayyy better then the other oishii in Moreno Valley that owner is disgusting!

  • Josh A.

Don't waste your time here. Wait a sec, if you've never had sushi then go ahead and saunter right in. Food is made for those type of peeps. 1. Sushi is NOT fresh and rolls are made without art and love. They're messy and you're left like a pirate looking for a treasure of flavor. 2. Oh and if the food wasn't bad enough, the service was as good as the Oakland Raiders competing for the super bowl. Yea, it's just not there. We waited around for an udon soup for what felt like days, hey time goes by slow when you're hungry. 3. Make sure you order a table for one more than what you think you have in your party. We ordered a table for two but in reality I should have asked for a table of three because there was a FLY buzzing around our table the entire time we were here. I think the fly had more of our rolls than we did! The only reason this place "looks packed" is because this the ONLY sushi option in this part of Riverside. So if you're about to consider coming to this place I suggest doing the following: buy yourself some time and make your way to Sushi One Spot in Rancho Cucamonga. Those guys know their stuff and are super fresh. I should driven over there but fatigue got the best of me, must have been the 100degree plus heat.

  • Michael E.

Idk. I have a different experience with this place everytime I come. I'll start with the few "weird" things, then go on to the good. Its weird that they dont have mackerel, uni or real wasabi!! On to the good This place is always busy. Thats important for me. I have a weird thing for thinking food is sitting haha. Its always really ckan and the staff is really cool. Love the specials they run. Today they had buy 1 large beer, get the second for 95 cents! Boom!

    (3)
  • Erick M.

The family and I went to this place for "dinner." The interior is clean and nice. The food was ok (It wasn't the worst and it wasn't the best). The staff appeared to be rushing my party between the time we sat down until we left. Would I return to this place?........probably not.

One of the best sushi place here in Riverside. Very clean, excellent customer service and pricing is very reasonable on their AYCE. Try it out! And try their Golden Tiger Roll and the Baked Scallop Roll

Once upon a time, before discovering Asahi, I was a regular at Oishii. It's a bonus that they gave you those discount cards too. I returned after years of absence and was astounded by how Oishii has quieted down. It's a great place to go if you want a quiet sushi meal. There is music playing only faintly in the background. I wanted to witness a live karaoke or sake bomb contest! Can't remember if I was here Saturday or Sunday evening, but unfortunately it did not happen. I usually love when sushi chefs converse with you but our chef that night didn't really talk to us and wasn't lively at all. I was a bit disappointed by the nigiri. It was sub-par quality and did not taste that fresh. I did like the Baked Lobster roll and Jessica roll. Oishii is one of the rare ones that have udon on their AYCE menu. I don't know why but eating udon after a bunch of sushi is reallyyy satisfying for me. So let me know if you are reading this and can think of other AYCE sushi restaurants with udon on their menu! :) For dessert, the tempura green tea ice cream is not on their AYCE menu but I think it's worth getting! Overall, it was an underwhelming experience that left me beating myself up for not going to Asahi instead.

We got seated super fast on a Friday night and the service was really great. We had the all you can eat sushi and every roll was super good! I recommend the unagi and salmon skin roll.

That was the most disgusting food I have ever had in my life. My fiance and I decide to eat here since we were hungry and we're in the area anyways. When we went in they sat us next to the AC which was super cold! The only good thing was it gave us a view of the restaurant. We ordered the bento boxes because I was too scared to try their disgusting looking sushi. My bento box came out 2 minutes after ordering which seemed kind of weird. And he didn't get his until we asked for it. The chicken was cold the rice was cold and the California rolls were fishy and ripe. We are both trying not to throw up everything we ate. This was such a depressing experience. How this place is open and was full of people makes no sense to me. Save yourself and don't go here. The food is horrible, the customer service is bad. Everything is just horrible!

This place is so good and my favorite sushi joint in riverside. The sushi is always fresh and isn't super crowded like asahi but just as great. Nice romantic or even chillin with friends atmosphere. I come here all the time and am never disappointed

  • Lacy S.

This place has great sushi! They do tend to get very busy but I've never waited any longer than 10 minutes to be seated. They have such a great menu to choose from with lots of options! They always have new special rolls (also available on AYCE) every time I come in. Tonight I tried the Ariel roll and the Sebastian roll...double points for being my favorite disney movie! Hands down the best sushi joint in Riverside.

    (5)
  • Madie N.

I've been here more than a few times because it's a local AYCE place for me. If you live far from this place, it's probably not worth the drive. Service is okay. Last time I went here, they forgot to bring me two rolls. It's pretty slow here also. I've been to way more crowded sushi places and the service was better than this place. The sushi seems fresh, but the rolls are boring. I wish they had more selection. I do like the baked lobster roll because it has pieces of lobster on top and I also like the hot night roll because spicy tuna is my fav.

  • Erica O.

I always have a bad experience when I come here. The manager is rude, and she doesn't give her customers the satisfaction they deserve. I came here yesterday with my boyfriend and friends and we got all you can eat. They always mess up on our orders and she added $10 to our bill for extra rice that was left on our plate. I recommend going to Sushi Ok off of Arlington. The customer service is awesome and the team they have will appreciate your business more. I'm never going back to Oishii.

The sushi was decent but was charged $4 for tiny bit of left over rice from tuna sushi that was over-stuff with rice. Not cool.

This is probably one of my favorite sushi places to go to. Every time I leave, I feel like I don't need to eat for days. The rolls are great, my favorites being the baked lobster roll and the Jessica roll. I also like to have a glass of plum wine to enjoy with the sushi. The servers are also really friendly and makes sure we were taken care of.

Arrigato! 2nd time here...been craving it since the 1st time a few months ago. Super fresh sashimi, great service and a fun little place to spend a lunch hour. Try the #3 lunch special...4 pieces of sashimi, gyoza, cali roll, & salad for $10

Warning: They don't serve fresh sushi here. We got food sick same night and We won't go back again. Stay away from here, go somewhere better. Raw fish could be dangerous if it's not fresh.

They are very stingy with their tables. They make you wait for a table if its open. Waited a hour for a table of six. When their was a table of 8 open. Manager wasnt helpful. This place is ridiculous. My party of 6 has been waiting for an hour because we are not a party of 8. Lame!!!

I LOVE SUSHI and the only two places in riverside I go to are Asahi and Oishii. This place is very unique more than Asahi because I find that every so often they give out free saki bombs or are doing something interactive and fun with the guests that are eating. The environment is nice, clean, and does get busy at times. The food is ALWAYS FRESH and very delicious. I highly recommend. Wish I had attached pictures of the sushi rolls I had ordered but I continue to forget and just indulge myself...

  • Angela N.

Don't go here!!! The service was horrible with subpar rolls. We were constantly bothered about placing more orders for sushi and they never came by to refill our drinks. We asked for green tea ice cream after hearing from friends it was offered and to find out we were charged 2.50 each without any knowledge of it and the owners excuse? I thought you knew. Safe to say never going back here again.. and I will definitely will make sure none of my friends come as well!

I'm a cooked sushi kinda person. California Roll and Tiger Tail and Shrimp Tempura for me. All three were excellent. Been here once before, same experience. I realize for real sushi eaters my review means very little but if you have somebody like me in your party maybe this will help. I'd rank Oishi at the top. Everything seems fresh and the gals are super nice. Beats RA Sushi, Joe's and Kula.

I am a sushi snob. I loved LOVED this. The price is great and the selection is pretty hefty. We went heavy on the nigiri. Particular standouts were the albacore, unagi, and tuna. Girlfriend really loved the salmon. The baked lobster roll was outstanding as well. We also tried the white night roll (was that what it was called?) with seared albacore on top of a spicy salmon roll topped with jalapenos. It was great but the recent shift towards nigiri/sashimi has removed much of the roll desire from our order. I'm giving this 5* because, above all else, the rice amount was MINIMAL! Usually places pack on the rice to really get you full, but this was all centered around the fish. We actually made it to 3 rounds, albeit the last was incredibly tiny compared. Seriously a great sushi place in Riverside that is leagues better than Asahi in terms of quality. The fish is cold like it's supposed to be, unless cooked or warm like unagi, and the service isn't overbearing. This should be the go-to AYCE sushi in riverside, I'm sure of it!

. What i hate about this place is the owner. She is very rude very rude. I once went with my sister and mom and we got all you can eat. My mom was not feeling well and ate one piece of sushi from her sushi roll. We told the waitress my mom would not be eating at all because she wasn't feeling well. The waitress said because she ate one piece from the sushi roll that she had to pay for all you can eat. After about thirty min of arguing back and forth with the waitress and talking to the owner we ended up paying that all you can eat roll as a separate item which was about a 14 dollar roll. This was disappointing considering we are regular costumers. That owner needs to change that stupid look off her face as well because there Is plenty of other sushi places around.

  • Jessica L.

The ONE time I don't yelp a place first....ugh.I should have ordered a single roll to try for quality first before doing AYCE. I won't be back. The rolls tasted bland and not high quality. The baked rolls were loose and sloppy. Then to top it off I was sick hours later. BOO. The only thing good they have going for them was my sweet attentive waitress.

  • Stephanie T.

So far this is my FAVORITE place in Riverside for sushi. My husband & I LOVED it!! No other place has compared. Will def be back! Wish I remembered all that we ordered so I could review it. All I can say is EVERYTHING was delicious. No complaints whatsoever. Great selection to chose from.

Dang I really wanted to like this place.. I LOVE SUSHI. I've been ever from Orange County to LA to Riverside sushi places so I'm kind of a fanatic about my fish. Pretty good reviews, a few negative but I was hungry and it was close by so I thought why not? All the reviews I read said it was quiet with no energy and servers were slow. I came at around 3PM and it seemed pretty lively to me. Music was playing in the background and there were a couple of people. Service did seem a bit slow, but they were understaffed and I understand how hard that can be so I won't fault them for that. However, all the employees were extremely nice and attentive! They only had one sushi chef at the time and a huge group came in so it was a bit of a wait, but I didn't mind. I'm pretty patient so it was cool with me. I didn't like how some of the items were in Japanese. I mean I can speak Japanese, but for other customers it might be annoying. As in the sushis were named all in Japanese with no translation given. I had to google what some items were aka tako= octopus, inari= fish eggs BLEH accidentally ordered that, never was a fan WTF Also, there were no descriptions of anything on the menu, I wanted to order some rolls, but I didn't know what was in it and I didn't want to bother a waiter to explain all the rolls on the page. Wish there was a paper on the table that explained what was in each roll. You'd think that even with their specialty rolls they'd give some sort of description but no. I still don't know what a "Riverside" roll is. Please fix this and give some clarity. Also portion sizes are way too big (I mean this is probably a sale tactic so you get full easier and ordering less, but I would prefer to try everything instead of having to choose one or two. was not able to try any of the rolls because the portions are too big) Other places do not have this problem. All in all, probably will not come back unless I see some better reviews. People working were very nice and attentive, now please fix the food. In the meantime, I will be going to sushi Asahi for my fix of sushi. Here where I get in to super detail about what I ordered. Read if you like or TLDR: It was not that good. I've had better. I did AYCE sushi ($20 not bad price) Salmon sushi: can never go wrong with salmon, LOVE salmon, glad they didnt mess that up Escolar sushi: white tuna O_O fish quality was pretty good but the sauce they drench the fish and rice in is horrible. I would have rather had it plain. Unagi sushi: Eel. I've had better. It tasted burnt but it had a nice crunch on it and the eel sauce was on point. Lobster roll: I've had many lobster rolls in other places before but this place just made me really sad. Usually it's like a crawfish baked on a california roll. However, this place had shrimp and it tasted burnt again. It was not a creamy, deliciousness melt in your mouth kind of roll. It was burnt, underdressed and sad. And it came in a huge portion which I was not used to. (usually 4 pieces, here it came in 8 pieces) Ikura sushi: fish eggs, bleh bad idea. Could be just me but I hate fish eggs and the way they pop in your mouth. Tasted very fishy like dirty sea water :/ I dont remember having it anywhere else so I have nothing to compare this to, could be just me. Spicy scallop sushi: SADNESS. I've had this in so many other places. Scallops seemed to still be frozen and it was poorly seasoned/ dressed. Just a dash of some sort of spicy powder and then put on top of some rice.... that is not how you do spicy scallop. Tasted very fishy too and I've never had this problem at other places. Tako sushi: octopus... again frozen.... nothing else I can say about it. Miso soup: mediocre at best, came out steaming, when I tasted, it was warm not hot

My boy friend and I have been coming to this place for over two years ! Even thought service wasn't always perfect we kept coming because their sushi was always on point,, hate to write this but we will never come back here again ! Their fish was so old I'm concerned I'm going to get sick ! And everything tasted bad tonight it was ridiculous! ! I am a culinary student so for my peace of mine I had to write this to warn you they sell old fish and for a sushi restaurant that is a big No!!!!!! When we told them we come here all the time and your fish doesn't taste good, the lady said nothing is changed, I told their manager to taste one of the pieces but she refused. Stay away from this place!!! Or you will get sick.

Waited over an hour for a table but it was a party of seven so I understand. We got the AYCE and let me tell you it was so worth it! Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be coming back again for the delicious Golden Tiger roll.

OMG i hate this place. Owner is the meanest most evil person ever with no respect to customers. Only cares about the money. Sushi place is supposed to be very clean, yet this place is far from that. Honestly I dont trust any of the food there in my opinion. Never going back. never ever. Gross

We've tried other sushi places even places that are more expensive but none match up to this one. Craving sushi I came back and the rolls are better. And May is the best waitress ever.

This place has the best Sushi! And reasonable prices. I highly recommend the one sashimi, it's the best I've ever eaten.

This place use to be good. A new owner came and messed it up. AYCE went up in price and quality of sushi went down. I kept finding hair in my food and do not plan on eating here again.

I have been coming here for a few years now and still always love the sushi here. Defiantly one of the best in Riverside. Crunch Roll and Lobster roll are the best! Always grab your mints on the way out, so soft and fluffy :-)

I love this place! It's amazing the food is amazing and for all you can eat it's just great! The service is amazing I come here all the time. I see some reviews says that they aren't good but I absolutely love it even the bathroom is nice witch is weirds for a sushi place. Highly recommend.

On the one hand, AYCE at this place is more expensive than other places in the area. Not everything on the menu is available for AYCE, and you can't order stuff not on the menu (for example, a basic tuna handroll, even thought it is available as a cut roll). But, on the positive side, the rolls that I do like here are so scrumptious that I order them again and again until I'm stuffed! I love the albacore delight (albacore, avocado and rice only inside and out), the aloha (spicy tuna inside, albacore and avocado outside), and the seattle's best (avocado and salmon, inside and out). Delicious! But other than that, the rest of the rolls either have imitation crab or some kind of tempura, so they're a no-go for me. The best times to come here are after the lunch rush, If you come in the middle of the lunch rush the service is incredibly slow, though people who do not get AYCE seem to get their food quicker. Just something I noticed... There's a couple changes that would make this my favorite sushi place though: #1 If everything on the menu was available for AYCE. I spied something called the best albacore roll and it looks great, also cucumber rolls (cucumber around, fish inside). Or at least offer them at a discounted price to people already paying for AYCE since it's already kind of expensive as it is... #2 The garden salad. Please use better quality lettuce! (ie. not iceburg) The first time I returned here, I could have sworn that the lettuce was wilted and going bad, so I asked the waiter for another one. He brought me a fresh salad, no questions asked, but it tasted exactly the same as the last one. As I picked through the cucumber, carrots, and darker greens, I realized that the problem was that the majority of the salad was iceburg lettuce. I always enjoy having a salad with my sushi, so this was a major let down. #3 Why is it so difficult to make a basic tuna handroll?! I mean, you have the tuna, the nori, and the rice, so why the heck not? The rolls I like are good enough though, that I'll probably continue to come back.

The sushi is good, can't complain about it. This review is more of their service. They need to train their staff better. Some were really good and some were really rude. Li hates the fact that they were very stingy in getting your order for the next round of AYCE. They were ready to hand out papers but then looked at our table and took the paper away. We only had a few sushi left and wanted to order. We did not want to wait.

I love going to Oishii sushi and ordering the lobster roll. Pretty much anything that you eat here is done with precision and timing. They have also tried to do monthly rolls. I have tried a harry potter style roll and a frozen style roll. It's a neat idea!

Love this place and it's the only sushi place in riverside I go too, it's worth it. :)

    (5)
  • Maria B.

The sushi was good. It's always crowded - they need a bigger place. The service is ok. Seems if you order a lot of the expensive items, they never bring it to you unless you KEEP bugging. I might go back but highly doubt it as there are way better sushi places.

I used to love oishii, in fact I met my husband there. The management has made this place horrible! Don't waste your time comeing here you will be sorely let down.

  • Jessica C.

This is my favorite sushi place, my favorite is the lobster roll, and the golden tiger roll. We usually go for the lunch time all you can eat special. The service is really hit or miss though. One time we went in a big group and they added the 15% of the total as the tip?? I didn't know places still did that, aren't tips voluntary? So the waitress got a $30 tip, and not only that, her friends came in for lunch and she sat at their table RIGHT NEXT TO US almost the entire time we were eating. If you're going in a large group I suggest a different sushi restaurant, that experience put me off Oishii Sushi a little, but I'll keep coming back cause their sushi is that good.

  • Heather P.

The sushi was delicious and I love how they explained everything on the menu, so you know what you're actually getting. Customer service was great and our waitress even brought us free eel sauce. The owner came around at one point and asked if any if us were interested in a sake bomb contest and of course we were! The loser had to draw on her face with markers. It's a really fun atmosphere and excellent food! I'd highly recommend this place, great atmosphere and really good for groups!

    (5)
  • Sam T.

Good casual sushi experience. Some rolls have a little too much sauce for my taste but the sushi is of decent quality and the tempura rolls are delicious. They have a good deal on 24 ounce hite beer. Great for groups if you show up early. No kids. They don't say that you can't bring kids, I did.

  • Lily L.

This place always keeps me pleased! Sushi is fresh and the servers are so nice and cool to talk to. The manager is super cool too. We came in one time at night and got free sake bombs the whole restaurant did!! Lol Anyway, we come here for the sushi which is yummy! And the specials rolls here are so great especially the ones you can't find anywhere else like the lobster roll :p Overall great food, great service, and fun atmosphere

Greatly Disappointed by oishi sushi today. We drove from fontana to oishi. We arrived at 8:30 when they said it closes at 9:30 pm. As soon as we walked in the said they were closed because they were cleaning the whole restaurant.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. I hate patronizing a place that acts like they are doing me a favor when I spend my money there. You have to beg for napkins and soy sauce on your to-go orders. I will NEVER eat here again and letting ALL my friends and neighbors know how disrespectful this place was. The icing on the cake was when my to go order just sat in the corner until I had to ask..... "Is this mine"

    (1)
  • Mark L.

Whenever we close a big sale we make our boss take us here and we get the all you can eat. Lately there has been a quota on the amount of sushi we must eat in order for him to pay for our lunch and it's usually 2x the amount the rolls would normally cost if you bought them individually. This has made us very fat. We do enjoy this place because it's clean, the service is good, there's almost never a wait for a table when we go for lunch, and the price for the all you can eat is affordable. My favorite is the Lobster Roll and anything with spicy scallops. Great sushi place!

    (4)
  • Alison P.

My favorite sushi spot in town! Comp. miso soup, yes! My favorite is the White Village Roll. Why not 5 stars? Because this roll is not included on the All-You-Can-Eat! NOOOOOO!!!!! So sad. There is a write-in spot on the AYCE... but they only allow 1 roll and they always seem to complain when requesting the White Village. I don't understand why.... it isn't particularly fancy or expensive, nor does it use premium ingredients. Still, this place is great. And how can you beat buy 1 Hite get the next 95 cents!? YOU CAN'T! And did I mention the KARAOKE!? The DOMINO SAKE BOMBS?! The. Best. I'll give them my extra star once they give me my AYCE White Village!

Excellent sushi!!! Especially the baked rolls. Always have excellent drink specials. Every time I come in I order the weekly sushi special and am never let down! A favorite!

My husband and I come here about once a week and are never ever disappointed. Food is amazing and service is great. If you become a regular make sure you ask for a VIP card so you can start earning money back for future visits. We easily have $100 on our Oishii card and will definitely use it in the future. $24.99 for all you can eat and the menu is extensive. Can't say enough great things about Oishii!

    (5)
  • Alex M.

As good or better than the Oishii I usually go to. Fast service. Fresh fish. Nice dining area. The AYCE is a good deal. They have a few more options than the location in MoVal. Great beer specials too.

This place is a really good sushi place it needs more reviews and more stars. The waiters are very friendly they also take great care of you. Sushi is high quality to very fresh and good I recommend you try the backed green muscles. The atmosphere if the place is nice with all the neat ceiling decor.

  • Royanne S.

I have been going to this place since 2010. Never a disappointment in the quality of their food or the service. Everyone working here is very kind as well as helpful. I'm glad they have the "cheaters" because I am "chopstick challenged"! I recommend the tiger roll, the spicy tuna roll, the crunchy shrimp roll, the Philadelphia hand roll, spicy tuna hand roll, baked salmon hand roll, and philadelphia hand roll. All their sashimi is delicious as well. I eat here frequently (I need to remember to check in more) and have never gotten sick or had trouble with service. I have left a few rolls sometimes during AYCE and have not been charged. They only do that if you leave a large amount, which I often see people do. Remember to pace yourself if you get AYCE, and enjoy. :-)

  • Kristen K.

I've been here several times and it's always been great. The first two times I came here, it was close to closing time and both of those times they provided a FREE sake bomb contest for the remaining customers in the restaurant! I don't even like beer, but I participated both times because why not? My friend lost both times though and they draw on the faces of the losers (a man drew a black unibrow and red nose on her)! The environment is friendly and inviting and the sushi/rolls are worth the trip!

    (4)
  • Tarra C.

It was okay. as soon as i walked in, i was overwhelmed with a fishy smell. which to me, means the fish isn't fresh. the rolls tasted out. idk, maybe i just came in at a bad time and usually it doesn't smell like that. it was alright

  • Catt E.

This place is DELICIOUS!!! The service is excellent and the miso soup is to die for. I recommend you come for the lunch hour which ends at 3. I usually get the one that's $7.99 and it includes teriyaki chicken, tempura, white rice and 4 California rolls. My mom and sister love it too. Best place in Riverside!!!

  • Barbara V.

This place has become a favorite for hubby and I. We're now considered regulars which is a bonus because when you become a regular, the sushi chefs like to treat you to free samples they are experimenting with for possible menu additions. The sashimi salad is a real treat. They make their own pickled ginger, which I love!! My absolute favorite appetizer are the green mussels. They're delicious. I've had them in other places and they were small, so small that they could've passed for clams. Hubby loves the Jalapeño bombs. Hubby partakes in the Sake bomb games, which are free. He got 3 sake bombs free one evening plus 2 free beers. The service is exceptional. We've never been ignored. We've been to several other places locally, but we keep returning to this one. Even the restrooms are impeccably clean. You really feel at home. Normally we'll go around 7pm, and we've never had to wait for a table even when they are busy. The chefs are awesome, and the wait staff is constantly attending to their customers. The only improvement that is needed is that an AYCE menu should be created because there are some restrictions. We love this place.

So I was mid way into my second roll and BOOM!! A FREAKEN COCKROACH CRAWLED ON THE BENCH 3 FEET AWAY FROM ME NEXT TO A LADY WHO DIDNT EVEN NOTICE IT. 6 other people noticed it and we had to tell her. It was DISGUSTING!!! They called one of the workers from the back to catch it but you know damn well that that roach was long gone and he pretended to "catch it". I couldn't believe it. And they still had the nerve to charge full price for the 1 and half rolls I ate!!! But to be honest the food was actually good but it must have been the ROACH that gave it flavor. By the way I don't know why they have an "A" on the entry door. "A" for what?! "A' we have roaches in here!!!!" Unbelievable.

  • Al M.

Come here on a Friday/Saturday night you are in for a treat. To begin, I love this sushi place, it is by far my favorite and the environment is extremely young and fun. The rolls for all you can eat are fabulous! The sushi is fresh, tastes as great as it looks. Now... for the fun part.. the owner is really a character, often times he is giving out free drinks, saki bombs, and having competitions (whoever drinks the saki bomb fastest). The loser... well... Loser gets stuff drawn on his/her face. Seriously, this is one place you have got to check out especially on the weekend. It is quite different from the normal dullness of Riverside and the eateries here.

Decent sushi. friendly staff and fast service. Kid friendly also. I especially enjoy the seaweed sald.

    (4)
  • Adriana P.

Certainly not bad sushi but don't expect it to be anywhere near the best you have ever had. After all, your at an AYCE sushi place in the food desert of Riverside, CA. The sushi that you can order for AYCE is just a fraction of what they offer. That's fine but they don't list the descriptions on the AYCE menu so you spend all your time trying to find something that you like on the regular menu and then trying to hunt it down on the other menu to see if you can order it.. They are polite but all the workers try and rush you out of there. I understand why of course. They are trying to make money. They just won't be getting anymore of mine

    (2)
  • Susan L.

This place deserves ZERO stars! While the sushi is OK...the owner's wife is a complete JOKE! She has a sour look on her face constantly and is extremely rude to the customers. The only reason we go is because her husband is so sweet and makes things fun, but he is not always there. My brother wrote a bad review about this person but decided to give them one last chance...he went in with my niece and two daughters but was asked by a staff member to leave because the "Owner" said he wrote a bad review on YELP. The poor waitress was so embarrased because she knows my family has tried to not give up on this place. When my family confronted the "Owner", she completely ignored them. BEWARE OF THE "B"!!!!!

    (1)
  • Vanessa E.

This place is awesome for birthday ore the weekend. The owner will have you play drinking games and loser gets a surprise. It's a lot of fun. Good sushi but a little overpriced. Service is sometimes good sometimes bad.

  • M F.

Delicious! The sushi is fresh and there is a wide variety of specialty rolls - a definite plus for an AYCE place. The atmosphere is great, also - friendly service, and there isn't a long wait in between placing your order and getting your food. My most recent visit was on a Friday night and the wait was not very long at all even though they had a couple large parties going on because they opened up the second room that they have there. I keep coming back!

    (5)
  • Patrick S.

I really want to like this place - the people are nice and the food is okay. But the atmosphere in here is awful (the radio, which blares throughout the place, is ALWAYS playing commercials - get an iPod or satellite, you guys!!!) and ordering is often a huge pain in the ass. They need to be a little quicker on their feet when it comes to answering basic questions or asking for a minor substitution. It's become so difficult to order here, I don't think I can even get food to go anymore. They really are nice tho!

    (2)
  • Carlos L.

Horrible service! The waitresses/waiters just kept talking to each other while we waited for them to take our order! It is humid in that place, not to mention the food is not fresh at all! What a shame I used to like this place! NEVER coming here again!

im just as quick to say something positive about a restaurant as i am to say something negative and ive been going to Oishi for awhile now and always dine in, but tonight i decided to get a to go order.....the wooorst tasting sushi ever...but the thing im upset the most about is i spend really good money in there and when i called to talk to the manager about my horrible tasting sushi all she said was "I dont know what to tell u, ive never have complaints about the to go orders...bad buisness and bad customer service...dont know if I will be going back...not that they care anyway..

Best sushi I have ever had, one of the best places servers are great, sushi is fresh. I eat here at least once a week as I love sushi. In my opinion it's much much better than other expensive sushi restaurants. Great place 10 stars.

This place is great. I go here almost once a week for dinner. They have a great ACE menu and the food always tastes great. The rolls come out super fast and their special rolls are awesome. Would recommend to anyone that loves sushi.

Great Sushi place. My friends and I come here throughout the year and we just recently had our 3rd annual end of the year dinner. Their customer service is excellent. They were very busy and told us the wait can be up to 1 hour but they got us our table in 30min. They have good quality sushi, but the reason I gave them only 4 stars is because of the variety of sushi rolls. Still a good competing sushi restaurant and definetly in my top 3. Thank you oishii

  • Tuong L.

Very slow service, the sushi and food are decent at best. I do like that their menu includes udon and such, gives you more variety for what you pay for. I probably won't be coming back considering how Joe's and Asahi are close options.

My family and I have been to MANY sushi spots in Riverside, Oishii Sushi has become our go too! Our service has always been TOP NOTCH, we don't find ourselves waiting on our order, or asking for refills. There are plenty of tables, and large bar so we have seldom had to wait. The management is very friendly and has always gone above and beyond to see our children smile. Unlike many other sushi spots that put families with children in the back corner, Oishii makes sure the kids also enjoy the experience. They also have an awesome back room that would be perfect for large parties. If your a Riverside local this spot is for you! If your in town visiting, stay away from the sushi spot that on the corner of Magnolia and Van Buren (Joes) and come to Oishii! You won't be disappointed.

One star for the buy one beer get second one for a dollar. Food was horrible. It seemed like The scallops were cooked from freezer burn. It had a faint odor of rotten shellfish. The other collection of sushi I ordered were pretty much on the same level. The waitress seemed very accommodating; however, felt like she was put off when I straight up told her the food sucked, which probably be a normal reaction lol Never again for me. Haven't tried their cooked dishes but not gonna try it again to find out

Although this is great sushi place I only gave four stars because they didn't have all the great combinations from other places. I'm still new in the area and I'm trying to find my place. Service is wonderful, everyone is really nice and attentive. Oh the prices are reasonable for a sushi place.

I have been here about 5 times in the past few months. Every time I get the All-You-Can-Eat Sushi. Good rolls, good portions & good quality, never any complaints from me. My favorite rolls here are the "Jessica Roll" & the "Lobster Roll" AYCE will cost you about $20/ person

This sushi establishment was close to the school I attend the first time it was good which I why I decided to go again it was very good. the third time will be last time I will dine here. Knowing it is sushi I do take the risks that come with it raw fish but this my friend and I both felt very sick and she only ate the cooked menu items and I the raw. Indeed it didn't seem possible for us both to get sick if we didn't eat the same things? Maybe it was a fluke but I will listen to my to my sick stomach and stay away.

After much debate over where to eat in Riverside and finding out that half the places are closed due to Labor Day, a couple of friends and I finally settled on Oishii. Like always my local Riverside friend knew one of the waiters, and busted out his Korean right away. I got the Pork Katsu (I think it was named differently on the menu but it's pretty much the same) Bento Box. This comes with a good amount of breaded pork, 4 California Roll pieces, rice, salad, tempura, miso soup, and dipping sauce. Pros: - The California Rolls were very fresh and delicious - Most places omit the shrimp when they give you tempura in a bento box, but they gave me a huge one. The rest of the tempura was also great, and not too deep fried Cons: - How the hell do you mess up miso soup? It pretty much tasted like I was drinking hot water with a little bit of salt in it. No tofu, no seaweed, and no flavor. Fail. - The salad dressing was terrible. One of the things I love about bento boxes is the Japanese style salad dressing, and they just screwed it up big time here. It's more of a mushy paste than an actual dressing - The pork katsu was pretty deeply fried and had a very thick layer. It was also very dry and hard to bite through. Service was alright. They rarely came to refill our water even though there were only a few occupied tables. This is really more of a 2.5 review...

If you like all-you-can-eat sushi, this is the place to go in Riverside. Best value for your money. They have a great selection, and the sushi is always fresh. Great service also. Even on a Friday night a party of two was seated in less than fifteen minutes.

My wife and I come here a few times a month for AYCE sushi and the Hite beer special. Our favorites include the White Village Roll (which is not on the AYCE menu and REALLY bums us out), the Tiger Roll, and the Riverside Roll. During the week nights you get a nice quiet dinner with great service. If you are in the mood for a loud, energetic, and fun sushi experience hit Oishiis Friday-Sunday night.

Albacore sushi was special, excellent dining atmosphere, and NO TO GO were the only positive thoughts i had as i walked out of oishii. I would be amazed if people actually requested for to go on an AYCE order, guess there had been a lot of Chinese customers visiting here (slap myself*). The AYCE menu was beyond my comprehension, as they only offered two rounds for appetizers and hot dishes, like udon and yakisoba. Come on, it was all you can eat, limiting the orders on appetizers totally saved the cost...... Plus I loved to eat my appetizers last. The sushi selection was limited compared to Asahi, For example, one limited order on uni, sweet shrimp and snow crab at Asahi, none of those and one limited order on eel (unagi) at oishii, for real? How about basic selection like mackerel, nope not available. Paying the same, but getting less? Good luck maybe next time. Service was average, my lemonade cup remained empty until they finally noticed it when the check came, duh.

This place is horrible. I don't see the fuss about this place. We decided to try it since it's close to our place BIG MISTAKE Ever. Service was CRAP. Our server kept messing our order each round. She was extremely slow AND don't get me started on the food. The sushi sucks. They have limited selection for the all you can eat. To top it off they exclude the spicy shrimp roll from it because wait for it "not a lot of people order it" so why the hell is it part of the menu. Then they have 5 rolls that are also not part of the all you can eat, the exception you can only pick one. But guess what it's not one per person but overall. Shit makes no sense. You can only order appetizers the first two rounds. The rice used is cheap and every roll has crab in it. No variety what so ever. Management is also rude and gives two shits on your opinion as a customer. Definitely NOT GOING BACK. Rather drive for good food, Sushi Asahi you will forever have me as a customer.

I never learn, came back to try it again and the same ending. I couldn't 'tell one roll from another. Why don't they just eat at asahi and copy them. Everything was fresh but not tasty. And the service was really just average.

Been here probably over a hundred times over the years, no exaggeration. Today, this place got my friend and I sick. We both threw up. Had not been here in a few months. Not only did we get food poisoning, the size of the rolls and slices of sushi are tiny. The fish was cut at about three quarters of the length and width of an average size human pinky finger, but even skinnier. Also it was maybe about an eighth of an inch thick, no joke. The sushi, however, was a complete joke. I wouldn't have wrote this review and let bygones be bygones if it had not made us sick. I will NEVER eat here again! Such a shame. I used to like this place.

Although we only ordered take-out for a birthday celebration we were extremely pleased with the food and service at Oishii! We ordered "conventional" meals (chicken and beef teriyaki along with vegetable tempura). The food was fresh and flavorful. The California roll that came with the meals was also very fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended!!

OMG I love this place! Their service is great, the food is fresh, and it has so many different meals to choose from! My favorite is the Oishi box with salmon in it... Mmmmmmmm :p I've been coming here since 2011 and it's well worth it!

Service was good when I went for an early dinner with friends. Had the all you can eat menu. Sushi was OK. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better. None of the rolls particularly stood out. Good experience overall!

First off, yay for yelp for update the app to include mobile reviews. Ok so sushi here is bomb! Fast service and nice and quiet. All you can eat lunch is $18.95 and dinner is $21.95 it's worth it! By far one of best sushi places I been at

Best lunch prices in town and they have great drink specials. The sushi is fresh and the meat to rice ratio is AMAZING!!! You will not be disappointed with this place.

I like it !!! service and food = above avg !!! the salmon was soooo fresh. indescribable. but the eel sushis r limited .. like 3 orders per person each round ? that's not called AYCE if they decided to limit on some specific sushi 0-0 wth. anyway, besides that I think everything was really fresh and nice. at least I think it is even better than Asahi... I feel like all the rolls in asahi tasted the same cux they keep usin the same sauce .. but Oishii is not ! give it a try if u r around the area ! totally worth it for AYCE dinner time :P I will be bak soon for sure !

This was one of the worst sushi places I've been to. Horrible service and all the sushi taste the same. And the baked rolls were very cold. Never going back.

This place used to be my favorite sushi joint in town! Lately, the sushi has been disgusting and their service is ridiculous. The management changes their policy all the time. (ie: Sometimes check id, charge for certain rolls one time and don't charge the next time) The awful sushi is enough to make me think about leaving but the uptight management and boring/slow staff have left me and everyone else I know running. It's sad, this place used to be the best place in town.

I haven't been here for a while until now. Now I remeber why. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the people were polite. Ordered about $65 worth of sushi to go. Order was correct and food seemed fresh. This sushi had absolutely noooo flavor. The only flavor it had was the wasabi and soy sauce I put on. Trust me I always try it without first. Very disappointing when you spend your hard earned $ and your craving something and it sucks. Save your time and $, don't eat here.

Their spicy tuna hand roll is so spicy and delicious! Seems like this place would be a blast if you came here for you birthday as they have a back room where the walls are plastered with peoples pics celebrating with huge martini glasses of I'm sure is a tasty adult beverage, they have colorful wigs on and the patrons faces are marked up with colorful marker. I'll have to bring an unknowing special someone here to celebrate and see how they really do.

Decor: just like any other sushi restaurant, nothing special Service: wasnt that great. my roommate ordered a shrimp tempura handroll and we asked them multiple times about it and still didnt get it by the time we left. I liked how they left a water container at the table so we never had to ask for refills. Food: It was alright as well, nothing too special. the chicken teriyaki was burnt the second time we ordered it :/ Environment: LOVE IT. it was such a great, lively atmosphere! the sushi chefs were really enjoying themselves and the boss was REALLY enjoying himself haha If it werent for him i dont think my experience would have been as great as it was. He gave my roommate free green apple sake [delicious] and at the end of the night they have a table filled with sake bombs and the owner does a sake bomb domino thing which was pretty cool and hands all the customers who are 21 and over a free sake bomb. Overall i would come back just because the environment was so lively and made my experience enjoyable

Im a big sushi lover and constantly lookin for a great place for AYCE and after hearing so much about this place from my coworkers I decided to give it a try. I must say I was impress, the rolls were delicious we ate into a food comma. The atmosphere was welcoming as well as service.

I love this place. I can always count on great sushi and they make you feel like family. They remember me and my family when we come in. If it is not on the menu, they will make custom orders for you... and the Thai food??? YUMMMMM!

Went with the boyfriend, as usual. We come here because it's close to our house. The fish is always good, but nothing special. Just as average as any other sushi place in Riverside. (I got AYCE.) He wanted both teriyaki beef & chicken. They don't have a combo option on the menu, but our server told us it'd be a dollar more to make the teriyaki beef into half beef, half chicken. (In the end it was actually 2 dollars more.) The portion was very small. Service was ok. After our food was brought out, no one came back to check on our table the entire meal. When my boyfriend's chopstick fell, he had to get up himself and walk to the side of the sushi bar to get another pair. While he was over there, the servers and manager were standing there talking. They didn't even ask him if he needed anything, so he just grabbed a pair himself. After I was finishing my last roll, our server did come up & say, "Did you get your baked mussels?" I told her I had not, and she said she'll bring them right out. Well, she never did. But all in all, every time we do come here service is usually a bit better. We will still return. :)

Best tasting sushi I've had in Riverside. My bf and I come here a couple times a month. Whenever we decide to go out to sit down, this is where we choose. Sushi is great, staff is nice and helpful, atmosphere is good, it's clean. It gets pretty packed on weekends but you usually don't have to wait. The only time we had to wait more than 2 minutes was on Valentine's day. I have nothing negative to say about this place.

I had taken one of my little dogs to the vet right down the street and had to go pick him up at 2:30-3PM. At that point in the day I had not eaten. Drove right past Oishii, so thought "what the heck" At 2:45 the place was jammed (AYCE) with only 2 waitresses working the floor. I did NOT opt for AYCE, I wanted to eat and go get my dog. I had a teriyaki??? (not what I am used to) chicken bento box. Salad, gyoza and a crunchy roll. The salad I never touched - it was that uninspiring, the crunchy "roll" was pretty much in a pile...totally falling apart (and there was a remnant of a shrimp tail in there) and the gyoza were almost cold and very greasy Not sure "what" the flavor was on the chicken. I picked and poked, drank my coke and left--13.00 lighter (included tip) for what I'm not sure--the waitress never came back once!! I took no pictures--this time I really SHOULD have!

Came across this place thanks to some friends... AYCE menu is great. Was impressed with the selection of appetizers as well and rolls. They usually have some sort of beer special as well. Waiters/waitresses are attentive and pleasant. On my most recent visit, the manager (I'm assuming) came to our table and offered us all a sake bomb on the house and then to everyone in the restaurant. Definitely scored some points there! :)

Their sushi is so fishy to the point where u cannot eat a SALMON. Salmon usually don't have a fishy taste unlike some other sushi. Also, their service is so crappy where you have to wait for your one round of food to come out for more than 45 minutes. Was it busy??? No. Seriously I felt so bad for other customers walking into this place.

I've been a Yelp lurker for years now, but I've never really written any reviews until a few days ago. My main reason for starting to write reviews was because of Oishii. I was always disappointed with why Oishii had such a relatively low score compared to other AYCE sushi venues in the area. Oishii is, hands down, THE BEST all you can eat sushi restaurant in the entire Riverside area. My friends and I have frequented Oishii probably close to A HUNDRED times since we first enrolled at UCR three years ago. Yes, we have tried other places such as the overrated Asahi or the Joe's place, but they don't match up to Oishii. (Well, admittedly, Asahi is pretty good and deserves a 4 star rating from me, but Oishii takes the cake on this one.) In many ways, Oishii can be described as a diamond in the rough. People don't talk about it as much as Asahi, and so most of the mediocre reviews on Yelp regarding Oishii are because they are frequent Asahi dwellers and just came to Oishii to "try it out." Because their expectations are lower, they pick out every single negative flaw they can muster. In contrast, Asahi has such a huge fanbase already that people just rate it highly because they seem to agree with the mob that it is the best. I realize that my review has not really covered any fleshed out reasons of WHY this place is the best, so I guess I should start on that now. First of all, the quality of the sushi here is slightly better than Asahi, although they are not that different, honestly. This is not my main reason for loving this place. The waitresses are much better looking here and recognize us every time we come. (although, this is still not a primary reason for Oishii's betterment) As far as the service speed, it varies, but it never gets long enough that you get annoyed. Usually, when they take longer, it's only to perfect the sushi once it gets to you. For a place with quality this high, you WANT to wait. The environment is much more peaceful and beautiful, even when it is crowded on Friday nights, mostly because the tables are spaced apart appropriately and not all squished together. Additionally, the owner often gives us sake and appetizer samples on the house just because we are such frequent VIPs. As you may or may not know, Oishii closes at 9pm. One time, our group of friends arrived at 8:55pm, and after some deliberation, they let us eat as long as we ordered all of our AYCE sushi in one round instead of three. They said they only did this for us because we are VIP regulars. The meal was BOMB, and one of my friends who had gone here for the first time from San Diego described it as "the best meal I've ever eaten in my life." Here, at Oishii, we are treated like kings. Here, at Oishii, the purpose of the sushi eating world falls together. I would recommend anyone from anywhere in the world, whether they be from Mongolia, from Burma, from Congo Republic, or from Argentina, to visit Oishii if they have the chance to fly to Southern California. You won't regret it. Plus, there's a UCR student discount. That is just icing on the cake. An awesome cake.

I love Oishis! They don't make everyone at the table order all you can eat if one person does. They also have delicious sushi and rolls and buy one beer get one for .95. I bring all my friends and family here, it's our go to sushi place. Their philidelphia roll and Jessica roll are my favorite, my husband loves their rattlesnake roll and beef teriyaki. Their miso soup is also one of my favorites and its included regardless of what you order. Really nice staff and owners too.

The low reviews can largely be ignored as frivolous or mean-spirited in many cases. I noticed that at least one reviewer (3/19/11) has a history of bad reviews of local Riverside sushi joints, which begs the question: do you know good sushi or not? While no restaurant is "perfect" on any given day, it's seems unrealistic to expect that, much less apply it absolutely. With that, I will begin my review, based on over four-years of regular appearances. First- the location has ample parking, and has a fairly large, comfortable dining area and sushi bar. Many employees have worked there for over two years, and because of this, I always feel welcome and have developed several friendships and acquaintances. Not to be too familiar, I have many years of food service under my belt and can tell at a glance who is happy with their job, tired, and genuinely pleasant. I have seen all of this at Oishi, but because the food is consistent enough often enough, I return time and again for the All You Can Eat special. For lunch, the best value too I might add, it is only $18.95, with dinner rates (after 3 pm) a reasonable $22.95. I feel that Oishi has a superior menu in both selection and variety when compared to other venues such as Cabin, Joe's, and OK to name but a few. Recently I was disappointed with Joe's, and given their limited menu, cold service (applies to their chefs only), and higher prices, it reinforced that I wasted time, money, and gas driving further for less. Among my favorites at Oishi, I can enthusiastically recommend the spicy Hot Night Roll: tempura shrimp and Cali filling with spicy tuna on top and spicy mayo. I like that they offer udon, teriyaki, gyozas, mixed tempura, salads, jalapeño bombs, and many other non-sushi choices, so that even picky, or sushi-shunners, like my Dad, can be happy. All-in-all, I am happy with the service, product, occasional free drinks and drink specials, as well as a home away from home when I want to escape life's stresses. My opinions are subjective of course, but I recommend trying Oishi. They do get very busy sometimes, especially Friday- Sunday night, so try them early-mid week the first time. Large groups should call ahead to reserve, but as stated above, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, even more so once you are recognized. While any restaurant can have a rowdy crowd at any given time, don't judge a place harshly after only one visit.

This is my "go to" All You Can Eat sushi place in Riverside. I've tried most of them, and I still like Oishii best for All You Can Eat (Asahi is a close second). I usually just get a few rolls and some fresh salmon and albacore. I'm a sucker for the jalapeno bombs.

Have been taking my family and friends here for years now, but I'm sad to say NEVER AGAIN! Took my 11 year old daughter out for a Valentine's Day date and we were lucky enough to be seated within 15 min. Now, let me preface this review by saying that we've had some great experiences here and some not so great. The male owner is very accommodating to us and has always gone out of his way to make us feel that our business is greatly appreciated. His wife, on the other hand, well that's another another poor review in itself. Our usual server, May, is also top notch. No complaints there. So back to the V Day fiasco. We sat down around 630 pm, ordered me a beer, my daughter her usual crunchy shrimp roll, and settled in for a nice evening out on the town. About an hour in, I decided to order AYCE, which was a first for me. The first and second turns went well with no hitches, but heading into the third and final turn, I began to feel rushed by our server. She literally checked 5 times in a 5 minute period to ask what I wanted for my last round. I finally asked if there was a reason for the constant pestering, and she made a gesture to the clock. Apparently the 2 hour limit was upon me. I tried to explain that although we had been sitting down for almost toe hours, I hadn't ordered AYCE until an hour prior, which didn't seem to sit well with her. Because I was a little over seeing her grouchy face, I tossed her the paper and completed my order. This little misstep was quite enough to put a damper on our night, but Miss In and Out was not done by a long shot. Upon finishing the last of my sushi, I asked for one last beer so I could even out my bottle count(beers are buy one, get one for $.95 - he main reason I kept biting the bullet and returning to this spot). I got the scowl and the clock point again. I tore into her a bit and asked if it was ok with her if I purchased one more beer. In a nutshell, she pulled the plug on our evening because we apparently had maxed out our table time. Because of the "holiday", they were keeping a strict limit on how long parties stayed in the restaurant. Now, we've had some rough service here, mainly from the owner's perpetually grumpy wife, but this one took the cake. My daughter and I were given the boot on Valentine's Day. All we got was the token, "very very sorry". I tried to not lose it on both her and Grumpy McGrump at the front desk. I figured the $0 USD gratuity and unpleasant Yelp review would get my point across. A little advice to whoever enjoys being monitored for time while you're throwing down $80-$100 on dinner and drinks - budget your time and sushi orders wisely. It will save you a ton of embarrassment. Sushiya and Starfish here we come!

Last night was my first time at Oiishi. Location: pretty easy to find. Right when to turn into the plaza, It is right in front of you. Big parking lot but I found a truck that cannot park or dear life. He took up two parking spaces... Someone needs to go back to the DMV and retake their test. Decoration: lots of lanterns hanging from the ceiling, which looks kinda crowded. The room is small but I realize that most sushi restaurants are small. Very cozy Servers: four ladies and a man circling around the room and asking every table if they're doing okay. They look like those scary vultures from snow white. Eyeing you to see if youre gonna steal any rolls..Honestly, I thought it was kinda annoying because you don't get one specific waitress or waiter. For instance, when my boyfriend and I were selecting our rolls, one girl came up and ask if we wanted water and we said yea. Right when she left, another girl came and asked the same question. We told her that weve been helped so she walked away. Two minutes later the guy came over and asked the same question again... Chef: I think he's drunk. He was so funny. It's like dinner at a comedy show. I've never met any sushi chef that can speak English so well. Every now and then, he would make random noises and whistle and make more noises. He's really funny an he would actually drink with you! Food: we got the all you can eat for about $23 each. The rolls here are huge and they give more than asahi. A lot of the cool looking rolls are not part of the all you can eat so that was kind of a bummer - miso soup: nice and hot but i wanted more seaweed and tofu (sad face) -edamame: doesn't look fresh and tasted funny. Or maybe it is fresh and Rhys how it's supposed to taste? I don't know but I'm used to eating the frozen ones from Costco. -mixed tempura: a broccoli, yam, shrimp, and onion. Taste like any other tempura. Fattening but yummy -fire cracker roll: spicy tuna .... reallly filling...seems like they give out more than 8 pieces. -Dynamite: loads of scallop and very delicious sushi. It's not drenched with mayo so that was good. -spider: the legs kinda freaked me out a bit but it was yummy. -albacore roll: looks really slimy but it tasted yummy. -Sashimi: fresh fish but he rice was a little hard -hite beer: a little like bud but lighter. Buy one get the second for a penny I saw someone got this cucumber drink but I didn't see it on the menu. I will try it next time! Overall, this place is not bad. Not that crowded and the service is fast and efficient. Next time if asahi wait is too long, come here. Plus for ucr students, it's way closer. It's near the plaza so you girls can go shopping after... Or maybe window shop since we can't fit into anything after an ayce

Amazing! My boyfriend and I are sushi lovers, and we decided to try this place...bomb! The sushi is REALLY fresh, the staff is super cheerful and, although the place is kind of small, it's always full of people, which is a good sign, and a plus...the owner gives out free sake bombs at certain times of the day! Con: The a/c is always on FUL blast...bring a jacket!! We've made it our new spot, and we plan on coming back often! Definitely recommend it :)

Great Food, Great Service, Fun place! I live in San Fernando Valley but my boyfriend Lives in Fontana, so we were looking for a fun night out, and wanted to start with sushi, came across this place and we just loved it! they even gave us a sake sampler! how awsome is that!!! We will be coming back!

I have tried this place numerous times as I work in this shopping center, needless to say I'm disappointed every time and then swear ill never go back. That being said, the food is good but the low marks are for service, every time. I've only dined in once and the remainder of my visits have been to go and I've waited a minimum of 15 minutes each time I've been here for a single Philadelphia roll at that. They don't seem to know how to get orders in and out properly and the staff seems to be running around with no clue people are waiting for to go orders. I always leave this place feeling irritated that they treat me like crap, damn the things I go through for SUSHI!

We came here for my sister and my birthday because the location near us in Moreno Valley did not open until 4pm for dinner. This place is located in the same plaza as Ralph's supermarket, very hard to miss. Weekend dinner AYCE is $22.95 and includes miso soup and other appetizers. The sushi and rolls were good. Dining area and restroom were clean. Staff were attentive and friendly aside from the few that would reach across the table from the wrong angle instead of walking around to the other end of the table. They kept our water glasses filled and checked on us frequently. They also brought out decent sized tempura green tea ice cream for the birthday girls...which was a very nice touch. I appreciated that they did not stand around and sing nor was there any cheesey discotheque music blaring in the background. Not our favorite sushi place, but it beats having to wait for hours for a table while standing in the doorway.

Well, today I ordered a Salmon Roll and Edamame to go. She told me it was going to be $14 and some change. Fine. I get there, she hands me the bag, takes my card, swipes it and then tells me the total is over $21! I asked her why, she said you have Lobster Roll, Cruncy California Roll, Edamame, and a coke. Uhm, no. She tried to convince me that is what I had ordered because she talked to me on the phone. Not right at all. We went back and forth for a few minutes, then she said, oh you don't want the California Roll? Well too late now isn't it, you already swiped my card and I gotta get back to work. How you could've gotten my order that wrong is beyond me. I think they purposely added all the extra stuff so they could charge me more when I got there. Oishii used to be a favorite of mine and a co-workers. Sadly, if you're going to rip off your customers, I won't be going back. Need a new favorite place now...

Short review: This place is good for AYCE rolls and teaching a beginner how to eat sushi and sahimi. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. Super oishii roll: was not spicy but the menu said it would be. dynamite: the top with scallop was good but the rice rolls in bottom were sloppily made and not worth eating. Sashimi: tuna, salmon, very good fatty yellowtail, albacore. Salmon Collar: dry, tasteless, Salmon Bento: Better tasting than the collar but still a tad dry. Green tea ice cream: Had a flowery, perfumy smell to it. I know green tea has flowers and all but it smelled and tasted weird.

Came on a Tuesday with a friend who was new to sushi. It was slow when we came (early afternoon). We sat on the sushi bar and opted to buy individual rolls instead of all-you-can-eat. The chef was very friendly and accommodating, even if we didn't see our server very often.

Service was horrible. They lost our order twice. They didn'tbring out all of sushi out. Then the manager, Sharon, didn't even apologize and said that the register only allowed to give 10 percent off. The sushi was only average. I will go to Asahi from now on.

This sushi place is so fun! The owner is a party starter. He will come by your table and ask you in you want a cocktail, or try to urge you to do a sake bomb with the rest of the restaurant. The loser gets to have the winners draw random things on their face with markers. So fun! The sushi is delicious, I usually do AYCE. My favorite rolls are the super Philadelphia and the caterpillar. I also like the baked green mussels, they are the best I've had in Riverside. For desert if you have room the green tea mochi is yummy. I have noticed recently the service has gone down. That is why I rated 4 stars instead of 5. We went last night with another couple. My hubby ordered tempura chicken and I ordered baked green mussels, and the super Philadelphia roll. The couple we were with ordered AYCE. We all placed our order at 7:45pm. Our friend couple got their AYCE 5-10 minutes later and my husband and my 1 roll came out 45 minutes later! The waitress kept saying she didn't forget our order, it was on its way. By the time we got our food our friend couple was already finishing their second round. Wow! I love the atmosphere and food there but my one piece of advice would be that the servers should pay attention to the customers and see what's happening with the chefs if the food is taking 45 minutes ++ to be served.

Going into Oishii, it was pretty cool, cause on the outside, the neighborhood doesn't really say "sophisticated." However, inside, the atmosphere is just that. The sushi is really fresh and delicious, and the waitstaff quite attentive. It's not crowded, so it's a good place to go if you don't like to wait. I felt like the prices were pretty reasonable for sushi, and the portions matched the prices.

I came here for their seafood business which they no longer partake in. No more boiling crab/shrimp. We were pressed for time so we couldn't make the drive to boiling crab. I settled for Yakisoba and we ordered a love boat for three. But I was so disappointed that I didn't get my crab and shrimp that I can't give them more than a 3. Especially since I don't really eat Sushi to begin with. The food was okay. Service was okay. blah blah blah! =( If you can't tell I was really disappointed.

So I just went here and had one of the worst plates of noodles ever. I ordered vegetable yaki soba, and not only was it overcooked and rubbery when it was put in front of me, it got even more overcooked and rubbery because they served it on a blistering hot cast iron plate! And the hot iron plate was lined with fresh lettuce that immediately turned gross from the heat. The noodles were so rubbery I'd bet ten bucks they were pre-cooked and re-heated. They had no flavor, maybe not even salt, and I dumped a lot of soy sauce on before realizing I couldn't save this dish. The vegetables were as bad as the noodles--even the carrots were mushy! You practically have to TRY to make carrots mushy, they don't overcook easily. Everything else we ordered tasted a little off. My boyfriend said his pickled ginger tasted old (I didn't taste it, but it didn't look good). The rolls were kind of sloppy and they used some brown pieces of avocado. The miso even tasted off to me. My boyfriend liked it, but I think he mistook a slight spoiled taste for depth of flavor. At least they agreed to take the noodles off the bill. I won't be going back, (even though it smells better then Asahi).

Has all you can eat sushi. The quality is okay, one of the cheapest AYCE places in riverside. The service is slow compared to other sushi places, especially at lunch time. The best time to go is the evening towards the weekend. They practically give away alcohol. It's more of a party Friday/Saturday.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Best sushi place in Riverside! The people that work there are not only great servers, but very personable and friendly with guests. The great thing about this place is that it is fun and they treat you like family. There are often drinking events where the owner has a large group of people do Sake bombs -- always a blast. If you want a great priced all you can eat and amazing service, this is the place to be!

The quality has really gone down here. This place used to be my favorite, but today it was gross. I did the all you can eat and the quality was so bad I didn't even ask for seconds. In fact I didn't even finish the first order. I dont know if it was an off day or if they changed management or something of that nature, So bummed out : (

This is the second time I get food poisoning from this place.. I was going to call and complain, but I believe a review letting them know their fish isn't fresh is more useful. Be careful!

Friday and Saturday nights are a blast! Our server May is the best! Great place for parties. For your birthday they put you in a wig and take your picture for the wall. The reason this review is only for 4 stars is the high price of all you can eat and the servers have been rude to us during the week days that we have went. But the sushi is almost worth the price. I would suggest the Rattlesnake or Baked Lobster roll.

Oishii, Japanese for little gold fish on mountain of rice. Oishii offers all you can eat, but is annoyed when you do it. They have old AYCE service tricks to keep you from eating all you can eat, like slowing down the speed at which your food will arrive, or their favorite, load up the rice. The manager (old Asian lady) frowned at our group (party of 10) as i told her how many there were. Last call was premature. Fish was thinly sliced and served at room temperature. Only redeeming factor was the AYCE mints on your way out. Had previous bad experiences before just never thought to yelped about it, this time i had enough. For a great experience: SUSHI ASAHI 2955 Van Buren Blvd D2 Riverside, CA 92503 (951) 637-1313 great fish to rice ratio. you never see the rice under the large slab of cold fish draping over it.

This is my favorite spot in Riverside. The servers there have always been friendly and I have never had any problems with service or quality of food. Their cocktails are really good too and come in a very unique serving glass. I have been going here for over two years now and I will be coming for a long time to come!

I went here to celebrate a birthday so there was a big party. This place is cool if you looking to have a good time with friends....Not to eat. The sushi is okay at best. They put a lot of rice in their rolls to fill you up. The sushi itself for AYCE is a little over priced at $25 for dinner. I think it is that price because they provide multiple activities such as Sake Bomb contests that are free, karaoke, and birthday gifts. Still, that should not make the sushi that expensive. Their sushi menu covers a wide variety of rolls.. I give them that. A lot to select from and they are quite good. We got a complimentary green apple soju bottle to share amongst our party. It was very good and fun to drink. I bought another bottle but a yogurt flavor, and they claim it is the most popular, but I say the green apple is better. You taste less of the alcohol in that one. Verdict: don't go here if you are looking for good AYCE. It's overpriced.

I love the AYCE sushi menu and this place is pretty clean. The foods are fresh and the staff friendly! They do not rush to get you out of there and often refill your drinks. It's worth eating here with healthy food in your tummy lol.

Love their sushi bar. Good sushi at good prices. Also, when you don't want the AYCE, they have filling entrees that are quite tasty. All-in-all, I would come back.

There isn't many good Sushi places in Riverside, and Oishii is one of those places. Few of my friends and I did the all you can eat dinner. Don't get me wrong the quality of the meat is there but the presentation and rolls weren't great. My main concern was that the waiters didn't know their sushi at all, often times they had to ask what type of fish it was or had me point to the menu. They don't have uni or mirugai but not many places in riverside do. I have to disagree with other's reviews because the edamame and miso soup I had was the only thing I enjoyed besides the alcohol.

This place has consistently decent food and a great festive atmosphere. Service is always great. I recommend the volcano roll, one of the bento boxes, or even the yaki soba. If you are lucky, one of the owners will come around and offer free cocktails. For two people you can easily pay under $30 with drinks. Rolls here are excellent however I would go to Asahi for Sashimi.

  • Tom T.

AYCE sushi lunch for less than $19 is something I have to try as general principle of life. No uni (my reason to live) but still I give 5 stars for overall freshness of the food. Rice portion was fairly small therefore I could enjoy many pieces. Seattle's Best roll with salmon, tuna and avocado is very good. Yellowtail was one of the best I've had in the states. Miso soup came with AYCE. Chef was very friendly. Compared to Sagami-tei in Fountain Valley (who has uni), it is a toss-up.

Love the sushi and all the rolls included in the AYCE. Fun atmosphere!

I've been coming to Oishii for a couple of years now... sometimes as much as twice a week. I don't know what everyone's expecting, the fact of the matter is that you're just not going to get extraordinarily high quality fish this far inland, not without a price. So for moderately priced AYCE quality sushi in Riverside (which does not border any sort of substantial body of water) this place is the jam. Jimmy is my favorite chef and if you sit at the sushi bar he'll usually make you a little treat, often times the avocado with spicy tuna on a soup spoon or whatever new roll they're working on. The free soju cocktails are great and every time I've come with a large group for a birthday they've given us several of those cold sake carafes with different flavors for free as well. Makes for a great time. I think on Friday nights and the weekends they have karaoke in the back sushi bar. They'll load you up with free martinis in order to loosen you up to sing, it's a lot of fun. But aside from having a great, easy-going evening atmosphere. The chefs and the staff are all extremely friendly (all but the boss lady, but there's always gotta be a hard ass)! You gotta get the Hot Night roll, it's the best! As well as the roll with the spicy scallops (I forget what it's called) and the salmon skin hand roll! Also, their cold filtered sake is delicious (it's not on the discounts menu but I always get it anyways)! The baked mussels are delicious too Whoever was complaining about there "only" being 2 rounds for appetizers and 3 rounds for sushi obviously doesn't know how to order... you can put down multiple orders of a single item within the round! So if you want more of any item just write 2 in the box instead of 1. Asahi's too crowded. Joe's is too loud. Ooka's too expensive. Cabin's too stingey with the fish. If you want an exotic and elaborate dining experience then go pay $100 for omakase in LA. If you want a good meal, for a good price and a good time close to home, then Oishii is the place.

So i wrote a review on my iPhone and it would only let me save it as a "draft" now I'm on a regular desktop computer and cannot figure out where to submit it... So i'm writing this review for a second time. Basically all i have to say is this place has amazing food! My favorite aspect is the comfy decor! They have amazing saki specials!!!!! I never get tired of their food! Fun environment to have a good time with friends, but at the same time I had lunch here with my grandma today and was not disturbed. The only thing I can really complain about is that normally sushi restaurants differentiate price according to lunch or dinner, but this place has a "weekend price" for all-you-can-eat. So if you love sushi, but are on a budget (like me) I suggest going to indulge on the weekdays!! Other than that i have no complaints! Great service, cute waitress', yummy food! Oishi Tabermono ^__^

This is our weekly family dinner spot. We've been regulars for years. The staff is always friendly. Every once in a while they can get a little too busy - especially on weekend nights - and service slows a bit, but the food is well worth it. I have the all you can eat sushi, and the rest of the family order from the "non-sushi" menu. We keep coming back, what more can I say?

    (5)
  • Jeff H.

Food isn't bad, but mandatory 18% tipping in addition to already high prices means I will not be coming back. All-you-can-eat sushi + one beer should NOT end up costing almost $40!

What? Asahi's got competition other than Joe's?? Hearing the buzz that there was another spot that offered the AYCE special, the fella and I decided to check out Oishii. We were a tad hesitant to try sushi anywhere other than the famed Asahi on Van Buren, but we figure that the closer location and May special ($19.95/person & BOGO Hite at $0.01) was too good to pass up. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night and was lucky enough not to have to wait. Oishii is quite spacious with two rooms and two sushi bars. We sat in the back right next to one of a few big screen TVs. The servers were so sweet and attentive, always smiling when stopping by our table. While glancing over the menu, one of the gents of the joint came by and served me a cocktail on the house! I thought I was special until I noticed him passing out drinks to all the lovely gals in the house, ha! One perk at Oishii is that they automatically serve you a small bowl of miso soup and edamame! You don't even have to flag anyone down! The sushi at Oishii was generally pretty good. Fresh pieces of Salmon, Albacore, Yellowtail, etc. An FYI for those Asahi affectionado - the pieces are slightly smaller and the ball of rice slight bigger (maybe by 7-10 grains) than Asahi, but still better than some other joints that I've been to. Closer proximity, no wait, free cocktails, cheap beer, and super friendly & attentive service - I think I may have stumbled onto another Rside gemstone!

Good quality sushi and sashimi. I've never had a bad experience here. At the same time, there's been nothing above average either. I get take out often for lunch during the work week. Always a good value.

The sushi is okay. The waiters were nice, but they never brought me my water. They said they charge gratuity for a party of 6 or more, then they stopped checking up on us.

Best sushi in Riverside! I have been to all of them. If you would like to try something a little different I would suggest the rattlesnake roll. If you like something a little more traditional try the Riverside roll. All you can eat is about $25 for adults and can be worth it if you save up your appetite. The menu explains absolutely every ingredient in each roll and the servers and chefs are beyond friendly. I would suggest this place to anyone that enjoys sushi.

When I first walked in all the workers seemed like they didn't even want to be there. Sushi was nothing special and at one point thought I would get sick from the ono. I tried to take a picture of the ono which turned an odd yellow with dark spots, but the server snatched the plate mid snap. Aside from the sketchy overly stuffed with rice sushi I'm pretty big on costumer service and our server Jisu gave off a weird judgementaly awkward vibe, asking if I really wanted all the food I ordered. Of course I want it, that's why I ordered it. Later she came back asking if I still wanted the two rolls we never got, I said no and she smirked as if she was right in thinking I couldn't finish, when in reality I just didn't want to deal with her and the not so fresh fish. Also the green tea didn't even taste like green tea I looked and there were barely any leaves. Needless to say I will not be going back there or be recommending it to anyone.

This is not casual sushi at all. It's the most traditional sushi I have had I think in my whole life. It's ambiance is totally different from the places that I eat at (Asahi). So to really break it down, if you're looking for a fun place to eat, Asahi would be your bet. But if you're looking for good clean sushi with a more sophisticated feeling in eating then Oishii would fit the bill. The price is pretty much the same (with the UCR discount). The fish tends to taste better (to me). Though I was slightly disheartened that there was no Sea Urchin rolls, nor was there ice cream at the end. But those are just a few things that I would harp on. What was really good was the service, the hostess was really nice and they seemed to have an interest at your stay. But I will say one thing, the sush It's a nice change in atmosphere. Both resturants cater to different tastes.

My husband and I eat here all the time. We only ever order the all you can eat. They have so many choices: hand rolls, specialty rolls and sushi. They do charge if you leave too much sushi, so order what you can eat. The only thing that frustrates me is that there is no descriptions for some of the rolls. You can see some of the pictures of the rolls in the menu but all of them are not listed which makes it hard to try something new. Other than that, it is a great experience. I've been to some AYCE where they forget to bring half of your sushi but we've never had that problem at Oshii. The service is great and they have a frequent buyers card so you can get some money off of your bill!!

I tried this sushi spot for the first time tonight and will not be coming back, EVER! The actual restaurant was decorated and had a fun environment and the waitresses started off really nice but it went down hill from there. We were sat down quickly and given out drinks and had a decent amount of time to decide what to order. Once we ordered, the food is kind of thrown on the table by different servers that were rather unpleasant. Everything we had ordered was really good, the 1 star given was for the good sushi but the 4 star deduction all comes from the very poor customer service. I was appalled to find out that we were forced to finish everything on everyone's plate to avoid additional charges. I have literally never run into this issue at any other restaurant! We were recommended to take advantage of the all you can eat option but had no idea we HAD to eat everything on our plate before we were able to pay the bill so the server can add additional fees for "wasting food". I was floored and left a 0.00 tip and will not be returning to this place ever again. Warning: read the signs on the table, they are serious about the rules and strictly enforce them. I think they have forgotten which country were in.

I've been coming here for well over a year now, and I'm a fan. Yes, it's busy weekend nights, but that's to be expected. I usually get the AYCE menu, which I find very expansive and generous (you can get tempura, noodles, gyoza, and a couple other things as part of the menu). The sushi chefs are always friendly, and will work with you. I usually go for the nigri (individual pieces) when I eat alone, and I'm very fond of the white tuna, red snapper, and albacore. As far as rolls go, my husband is a huge fan of the shrimp crunch roll and Philadelphia roll, while I like the baked lobster roll and the spider roll. My sister, who's a picky eater, usually goes for the vegetable rolls and avocado rolls, with tempura.

HELLLLOO!! GREAT food!..we went after almost a year of not being able to eat sushi due to my wifes pregnancy. We got the all-you-can eat deal...so glad we did, because we ate like crazy!! there rattlesnake roll was amazing!!.. we sat at the bar, and the guy that was our "chef" could have had better manners but maybe that could have been me. He couldnt believe how much we ate, so he made this really neat desert for us that was so interesting we almost didnt want to touch it. It was a hallowed out orange, and a smile, ears, nose, etc made out of it, with this DELICIOUS ice cream ball in the middle..i think its called mooschi ball (somewhere along those lines). anyways great place!

I don't know why some people give this place relatively low ratings. I came here with a party of eight and both the service and the food were AWESOME. The waitresses were really polite and attentive. And because we were a pretty big group, the proprietor kept bringing free fruit soju to our table. Oiishi's always generous with the fish and it's always really fresh and of really good quality. I think this place is a must-go for someone who actually eats REAL SUSHI (read: not mayonnaise cream cheese California rolls). Bonus: Udon noodle soup on the All-You-Can-Eat menu? SCORE!!

I like this place way much more than Asahi. They dont put fake crab meat in all of their rolls so theres actually rolls that just have raw meat, rice, and the veggies in it. I noticed that some older reviews said that the service was slow, but I think one can say that things have changed by now. They seated us and gave us miso soup and edaname pretty quickly and our orders for AYCE came out in a pretty decent time. The service is really great in overall. Two out of the three times I went, my group received free Soju. The restaurant isnt packed or extremely noisy and the way they decorated the whole place makes it feel pretty authentic. You can actually have a decent conversation without screaming and be able to hear them in return. Slighty more detailed reason to why Oishii is better: xvivian.tumblr.com/post/…

Don't bother--this place is gross. Need reasons? Edamame that looked and tasted like it was leftovers from the diners before you. The caterpillar roll didn't taste very fresh, the temperature of it was off putting, and there were tiny bones in it from the eel. The dynamite roll--just don't get it... it exploded with disgusting-ness. The bill came out to $25...................rip off!! This place does look clean though...haha the after dinner mint was the best part of the meal.

I was in Riverside this past weekend, staying with some friends, and I went with them to Oishii Sushi for dinner. First off, their complimentary miso soup and edamame was nice. The way they do their all-you-can-eat is pretty interesting. You order what you want from a paper list, in rounds. I believe you get two different rounds for appetizers and three rounds for rolls. They have a really great selection, though. I didn't order the all-you-can-eat because I wasn't that hungry, but I kind of wish I did. I did, however, order a roll for myself. Honestly, I don't remember what it was called... I even forgot the second I ordered when my friend asked me what I ended up getting, haha. But I just remember it had crab in it, and I enjoyed it and wished I could have more! I don't know why people complain about the service. I thought that the food came out pretty fast, or at least in comparison to other sushi places I've been to, even though we had a group of about 10. They also brought us complimentary cocktails, after checking our IDs (I was the only one who wasn't of age ): ). One of the cocktails was peach flavored and one green apple flavored. I thought it was really nice of them to bring out drinks for us.

With Asahi setting the bar for Riverside sushi, Oishii has days where their food is on point and great. But they also have days where it's a few paces behind Asahi. Oishii is great for their competitive prices and the wait time isn't as crazy as Asahi because their store is much bigger. They have a lot of TV's to catch the nights game. What I do like the most about this place are the drink specials that they offer, that is something you don't get at Asahi. I've also received a complementary martini on several occasions which is a nice touch. If you don't want to wait for an hour plus at Asahi this place is a better alternative to the other AYCE places in Riverside. Food is hit or miss, but if you like to drink, they usually have a good special going on.

Not being a frequent visitor of Riverside, I came here for lunch with a friend of mine last week -- on her suggestion. We were immediately seated and given miso soup and edamame. The miso was your standard soup, pretty hard to mess up. However, the edamame was bland (definitely unsalted) and mushy. We were given a sushi menu and told that there was an "all you can eat" package for $18.99. This sounded like a great deal, since I can easily eat more than that and the average roll was around $12.00 al la carte. Unfortunately, like most good things, there is a catch. The deal isn't really "all you can eat" -- it's three rounds of ordering for sushi and two rounds on appetizers. So you can only order three times for sushi and two times for appetizers and then you're done! We ordered an assortment of sushi: tuna, yellowtail, misago, octopus, surf clam, spicy tuna hand rolls, spicy scallop hand rolls, spider hand rolls, rainbow roll and some other miscellaneous things. The nori (seaweed) used on the hand rolls was a soggy disaster -- chewy and pretty disgusting. Either they don't take care in roasting their nori or the rolls sat for awhile before they arrived at our table. In any event, it was unacceptable because they were only maybe 5 people in the restaurant for lunch. The fish was also disappointing because you could tell that it had been previously frozen and thawed incorrectly, resulting in a soggy mushy product. The sushi rice was extremely pasty and when used on the rolls, seemingly smashed together into a pasty rice blob. The last few pieces of rainbow roll weren't even edible. The only good deal was the beer. They were offering 2 for 1 on our large bottles of Asahi and Sapporo. Can't really beat that! In fact, I would be rating this restaurant -1 stars, but will be rewarding it +1 star based on the beer deal. I guess it's hard to screw this up when it comes pre-packaged, bottled and ready for service. Actually, they did screw this up. The first beer came out with a frosty, ice cold mug accompanying it. For the second bottle, we were instructed to use the same mug, which by now, was warm and room temperature. Alas, if you're in Riverside and have no other sushi options, then I still wouldn't recommend this place. I found little redeeming value. Some people mention that they gave one star for the decorating...I don't care what the restaurant looks like! I want delicious food!

I have to be honest...I was so hammered when I ate here I remember very little. What I do remember is that we kept eating sushi and drinking Sake till we closed the place down, which means the sushi had to be good. Take this review for what it is ;)

food is VERY good, service sometimes isn't all that great. I had a sup rise birthday for my boyfriend there and they treated him like Royalty with 2 bottles of Saki a big giant martini glass filled with beer and Saki and sang him happy birthday. The atmosphere is wonderful. I highly recommend this place

Went here on a whim last week and was so glad I did! The drink specials were such a deal, 2 for 1 on beer and sake! Got the tiger roll- one of the best I've ever had! All of my favorite sushi elements. Also tried albacore and the quality of the fish was very very good. The food came our reasonably fast, but it took FOREVER to get the check, hence the 4 stars. Will definitely be back, maybe to have the $19 all you can eat lunch!

I second the review of Minh P., which I just read. He is dead on in accuracy!!!!! Oishi is focused on making a buck by using every Anti- AYCE practice possible. Oishi fills you up on a ton of rice with tiny slivers of fish. They make u WAIT for a looooong time, if at all, for your orders to come out so you are really full before they serve you. Last time, the waitress told me the sushi chef decided that i had ordered too much on my first order, and he simply wasnt even going to make any of the salmon rolls I had ordered. And that was on my first order. And they really serve you toooons of rice with little bitty pieces of tasteless fish. "can you taste the fish slivers in all that rice?" So if you enjoy going to an all you can eat place where the management which seems to be a mean looking lady in front is constantly calculating her profit margins, even by your first order, oishi is for you. Btw, a middle aged man in the bar gives free drinks. Thats cool. But, the drinks really don't cost much. I know I've made plenty of those drinks. Plus, its simply a taste That's probably why people write that the place is festive Give people a little few cheap party favors and make a killing charging on what people really came for, but didn't get -Fish,sushi,killer rolls, a relaxing time Minh p. is also right. Asahi on van buren is way better. Much much friendlier. I've eaten much more there, only to be greeted again and again with smiles from Dave and his great staff. Stopped going to Asahi for a while cuz Oishi is closer, but there's no comparison to treat food and customer service.
