I absolutely LOVE taco village. The food is amazing and the fact that they offer Mexican Coke and Horchata takes things up a notch. Beyond the great burritos and fish tacos, is their customer service. I've never encountered an upset or rude employee, even during their busiest hours - and that is rare these days! I am glad that there is more development going on near them, I was afraid that it was a little too far beyond where people are used to visiting in Redlands, and would become forgotten. Now hopefully they will get even more buzz and visits, as they deserve!

We entered the plaza to go to the brunch place next door, but walked in here after seeing the long line. I liked the cute & casual interior. I ordered a kids meal with an enchilada, which came with rice & beans. While the flavors were great, I was disappointed in how salty everything was :( The salsa bar wasn't mindblowing, but was fresh and adequate. The leftover carne asada burrito tasted bombbb the morning after though :) Tip: You can ask for horchata for the drink that comes with your meal! (Refills 75 cents)

Nice clean little place. Went for Taco Tuesday. $1 Tacos!! Carne asada and Pollo asado meat was great! No blubber or tough meat! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! Had beans and rice. Rice was fresh and flavorful too!

  • Christi D.

I really like this place. The meat is good and you can't beat the prices! I like the pastor and carnitas Baja tacos! It's so good. They also have a salsa bar with mild to hot salsas! They fix my taco cravings for a few days!

Small restaurant. Big smiles. Cheap eats. Priceless customer service. That about sums up Taco Village and why they keep busy. [Baja] Taco Tuesdays include the following meats of your choice for only $0.99, accompanied by onions and cilantro: * Asada - juicy meat and even better with fresh squeezed lime * Pollo - perfectly charred, bland taste * Carnitas - didn't get to taste this * Pastor - not as great * Chorizo - didn't get to taste this but my coworker said this was one of his favorites Overall, excellent customer service, clean, mediocre food but worth stopping by during lunch hour as the line tends to move pretty fast---even on Taco Tuesday! Enjoy! :)

Ok I never leave this place disappointed & Im shocked they dont have more reviews. Carnitas tacos - perfect. Cilantro & onions. Simple and what ya want. Potato tacos- actually very filling, hits the spot with that crunchy shell. Mmm And of course fish tacos!! Regular lunch spot for me

Sadly, the best thing I ate here was the free salsa bar, particularly the green peppers. I filled up on about 4 or 5 of them. Admittedly, I'm a huge snob of Mexican food...HUGE...because there was never a shortage of great Mexican food while I was living in San Diego. Even the dirt cheap Mexican food was amazing. This place, on the other hand, was sad and sloppy, considering it looks like it's owned by Latin American people. The prices were dirt cheap. The food was also quite literally CHEAP. The Al Pastor and carnitas tacos I got were tiny, had very little meat and garnishings, and the cheese enchilada I got had an almost sour aftertaste to it. Old cheese or old enchilada sauce, I couldn't tell. I'd never had such abhorrent feelings toward Mexican food until I came here, and my boyfriend was downright appalled by the poor quality of what he ate... If I remember correctly, his exact words were, "How do you mess up a California burrito?" To this day, we look back at our experience here and GAG. A solid two thumbs DOWN.

Great food! And at a cheap price! Tacos are street style (the best style) and Wednesday's are dollar fish tacos!

  • Kim I.

Stopped by for a meal after a long afternoon at the dmv. Ordered an asada burrito and chile verde plate. My buddy says the burrito was on the smallish side, but it was satisfying, probably the portion you should be eating rather than the giants we can get in LA. The chile verde sauce was good, but not the best I've ever had by any means. The pork was a pretty dry. Beans were ok. My score for the food we ordered 6/10. Cost score 6/10. Service 8/10. Salsa bar 8/10. Overall 7/10. Not fabulous, but good if you need a quick bite.

Best Taco Village, the one in grand terrace charges me extra for guacamole when it clearly says it comes on the taco but when I went to this one I didn't get a extra charge because it says it comes on the taco!!

  • D I.

We'll... I came in here kinda outta no where. I was at the dmv...feeling a little like beetle juice waiting in line (I'm b132 and they're on b081) I decided I had some time to kill..I wandered out and found my way into taco village. Being a seafood lover I had the Ensenada shrimp tacos. They were ok. They came like any other Ensenada style taco which is pico de gallo what looks like tartar, seasoned shrimp and cabbage... They were the large tortilla so 3 were enough for me. The shrimp was ok a little over cooked but not a biggie. The atmosphere is calm Spanish music and nice people... I look at my watch I been here 55 mins!!! Hurry back to the dmv!....b100..... NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Small place, vibrant decorations, hard to find at night! I drove here at night the other day and I accidentally drove past it. Its not located in the plaza with marshals, its located in the smaller plaza past marshalls on Lugonia. The lights for the name were also out as well at night so hopefully they'll fix that soon. Each day they have a special and the menu is pretty large. The salsa bar had no more chips at night =*(. The combo plates come with rice and beans, and the entree of choice. I ordered the chicken Taquito combo, Orchata, meaty burrito with carnitas, and Baja Carna Asada taco. The combo came with guac and lettuce as well which was pleasant. The taquito was wrapped in a doughy tortilla and was pretty small. They provided two taquitos and they didn't fill me up. The chicken was tasty and the doughy taquito was something i've never tasted before. The Asada was cooked to perfection in the baja taco. The meaty burrito with carnitas was a little salty but tasty (its really stuffed with meat but you can add lettuce, guac and sour cream for extra, I didn't though). The Orchata was to die for. Conclusion - Get taco's or the deal of the day if it looks good and try the orchata!

Went today for some tacos. This place had always been ok but today, they got real cheap with the tacos. It was a to-go order so i didn't notice this until i ate. This really irritated me. Look at my pic.

Tacos were horrible, before I opened the bag I could smell something rotten. I threw the tacos away. I will never go back there.

Been here a few times. I really like coming for breakfast. Its a causal place but not a hold-in-wall. Servers are friendly. Menu is extensive for breakfast and is all made to order. My favorite is the ranchero breakfast burrito (carne asada, potatoes, and cheese). Its not terribly big and value is just ok at $5.99. Goes great with their salsa. The chiliquille (sp?) is also good. I wished they gave chips with their meals. Would def come again.

    (4)
  • Carlos G.

Amazing try there chili relleno burrito its big and only $5 bucks fills you up and there red sauce is very Hot But good I usually go here once a week for lunch tho parking not that great

  • Simple S.

Great place, simple authentic fare. Salsa bar has choices from spicy to mild. Machaca & egg's were awesome, chorizo & egg burrito was legit.

    (4)
  • Zack J.

I've been here twice now, the first time was just OK. Had a shredded beef taco and taquitos. The shredded beef was decent, the taquitos were dry and over cooked. The 2nd time was just yesterday, came here for breakfast. I ordered a chorizo burrito for my son and I. They come with chorizo, eggs and beans. We both decided to go without beans and instead add potato. We were for whatever reason charged $1.50 to swap the beans out for potato. I said whatever. When we got home and opened our burritos they had put rice in there instead. So the burrito is $2.49, they charge us $1.50 to sub "rice" in for beans and we didn't get our potato. There are way too many great Mexican food options around to give this place another try. Looks like we won't be back.

  • John D.

Very good fast Mexican food. Try the Village wrap. Its awesome. The restaurant is a little small, but clean and nice. The grilled fish tacos are really tasty, too.

  • Kimberly B.

Very good I had to take my food home because I got full before half was gone affordable also. Just don't go during lunch hrs place is packed!!!

I loved this place so much. We came here on a Sunday to kill time before the stores opened. This place was the best breakfast in the town.

The perrenial Taco Tuesday location for me here in good 'ol Redlands. 99 cent baja "street" tacos in the usual carne asada, al pastor, chicken, carnitas. I'm probably missing one or two meat choices. No matter, I've had all of them. The price is great for what you get but what you get is usually overcooked and dry. This unfortunately is usual for taco shops. I want to see a shop do it like people do it at home. Marinated carne asada should be tender and juicy not dry and having a consistency of beef jerky. Same goes for al pastor hence my appreciation for El Tarasco in Cathedral City. That said, I love the service here. It is definitely friendly. Never had a problem with the any aspect of service. Also noteworthy, their salsa bar is always stocked with medium, hot, or super hot salsa which is definitely my style. Lemon/lime wedges and assorted grilled chilis adorn the modest bar in addition to little containers to go.

    (3)
  • Flor A.

Well the reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the only thing I order everyone I come are the super village tacos, they have very good taste BUT I think there's not enough meat on them... The price is $2.70 each one since they're not the small street tacos, instead the use the regular size tortilla and I was expecting them to be decent size and juicy, the salsas in the other hand are to die for!! The place is super clean, the service is great and the environment is nice as well.

    (3)
  • Ryan M.

Best salsa. Best carnitas and best customer service. I recommend! It was so good I had to go out of my way to speak with the owner to let him know how much I enjoyed it.

3ft long burritos amazing for everything !! With chips and salsa great ! Couldn't find any better price !

If you're looking for a spicy menudo, this is the place. Menudo was tasty and the portion size was perfect.

    (4)
  • Jen A.

The food here is always delicious and fresh, the service is friendly and efficient. It doesn't matter if it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner I've enjoyed every meal I have had here.

  • Rajiv M.

Great selection of mini taco's (Carnitas tacos, chicken, fish), always tastes fresh. Friendly service.

  • Bryant C.

I stopped by Taco Village on my way into the DMV. I was hungry and it would have been very dangerous for all concerned if I braved hours in line with rude counter help on a empty stomach. I ordered a Al Pastor burrito and it was wonderful, the pastor was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the burrito was nice and large. Next time I'll come back without the DMV visit, then I can enjoy my food without a lingering since of dread.

  • Oscar L.

I came to this place thinking it was going to be a good place to eat because of the reviews, I order the chicken burrito the total was almost $7 I was really hungry and couldn't wait for my food when I receive the burrito it did not look like a $7 dollar burrito it was small, I began to eat the burrito and could not find the chicken in it, I was extremely disappointed I only found a few pieces. All I have to say is if you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place, Cardenas/El Super has better Mexican food. Why the 1 Star I got food poison.

  • Sami J.

I thought this place would be good to try since it is close to my work and high reviews. I had to wait over 10 mins for a salad. The customer service sucks. When I got the the front of the line clerks were arguing like like school girls on who will get to use the credit card machine next. While waiting for my salad to come out the clerk was flirting with a guy customer near by which made it more uncomfortable. The whole thing was a bad experience. I tried my salad and it was just ok and not worth the price. Not coming back here again. Waste of time and money

    (1)
  • Melissa C.

I got their taco salad today and not impress. The bottom of the salad was water. It looks like they rinse the lettuce bit didn't boot let it drain property. Disappointed and the guy didn't even have dressing until I asked. Smh. I rather go to El Pollo to get their taco salad.

  • Garrett W.

The carne Asada tacos and burrito were great. The meat is very flavorful. The fish taco was good too. The service is great and the tables were clean.

Found a rock in my burrito. Manager said it was a "hard bean." I'm pretty sure I know what a rock looks like. She didn't even offer to give me my money back. Highly disappointed.

Waited 35 minutes for tacos to go on taco Tuesday. Will never go back! Ask employee what was taking so long she replied " we are busy" thing is we ordered before the lunch rush came in.

So Carolyn's Cafe had the usual brunch wait and the husband and I were too ravenous to patiently wait. So we headed over to Taco Village next door and ordered a chicken quesadilla and carnitas taco. Despite the gringo name and cheesy decor, the food was actually delicious. Perhaps I could have been mislead by my hunger state but I am quite sure that this taco was not even close to shitty. The salsas at the salsa bar were decent, nothing spectacular. But, their grilled jalepenos are a nice touch! The outside was softened by the fire but it still maintained it's integrity and gave a nice crunch when I bit into it. Summary: 3.5 for the carnitas taco and chicken quesadilla. Bang for your buck!

    (3)
  • Dave F.

We came to Taco Village as Carolyn's was packed. I had the taco salad and thought it was average. The next time, I'll actually try the taco's. The salsa bar features three salsas and we tried the hot and extra hot, neither of which we very hot. They do offer a wide variety of drinks including some higher end tea's.. All in all, not bad and the service is very good.

We have our inventory twice a year and I need to feed a crowd at 5:00 am on both Saturday and Sunday. At 5:00 on the button DELIVERED, they arrive with freshly made breakfast burritos that EVERYONE enjoyed. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate professionalism and GREAT food. Thank you.

My wife's family and my family always go to taco village in grande terrace and love it every Tuesday night. We got our taxes done in Redlands so we swing by this taco village. It was 7:58, 2 minutes before they closed. This young bigger Hispanic lady told us they were closed... We pointed out the time on our phones and she said sorry but we are closed. Our families will never come here again. We found this other taco place and they are open till 9. El kiosco express. Amazing.

cleanest mexican restaurant i have ever been inside.... staff is super friendly and as efficient as can be expected... my roommate said the fish taco was freaking amazing. and i got a meat burrito w/ chili verde, it was falling apart a little bit by the time i got it home and ate it., but was so full of deliciousness i didn't mind busting out a fork... will definitely return for another 2 or 3 items that caught my eye...

  • Sally M.

Lol, it's true the guy behind the counter is always dancing. It makes me like the place a little more because he obviously enjoys his job, if he enjoys his job they must have a great crew and management. Good vibes at this place. Anyway, about the food. I've only had the carne asada burrito, next time I will add guac and it'll be burrito perfection. I like that they kept it simple. Meat, beans, rice, cilantro. Love it! That's exactly what I want in a burrito. So if that's your thing as well, I recommend you try the place.

    (4)
  • Cassie Y.

First time there, $1 fish tacos on Thursdays! That's always great. Tacos are a little small (in comparison to Rubios, but Taco Village is cheaper). I got it to-go, so my fish was soggy (not something Taco Village did). Salsa was good and fresh. Probably might try it again, but eat-in.

  • Amber B.

I went here because it was "new" and super convenient for the errands in the area. It was the usual deep fried taco/burrito /beans/rice affair. Not outstanding in quality or quantity. I think I could find the same food cheaper at all of the Mexican take-out places in the area. The chairs are all cut outs of steaming coffee cups. Horchata is up to standard, tacos were average (shredded beef and chicken). They did sit a little heavy, like I had eaten greasy coins. I think they are a bit overpriced and would rather eat at another restaurant in the same plaza. Won't actively seek it out again, but I didn't get sick. Service was pretty much non existent....a say your combo number at the counter and then listen for your ticket number sort of place. One tiny TV and a bland salsa bar. Convenience and their location is their upcharge here.

  • Shelli H.

This place has terrible customer service! My husband and I went in to have dinner for our first time. We were excited to try some new Mexican food. We were greeted nicely and ordered. I ordered Baja tacos and a side of rice and my husband ordered 2 SHRIMP tacos and some Baja tacos. Our food came out and my husband was looking at his "shrimp tacos" and thought they looked a little weird and bit into it and it was fish. My husband does not eat or like fish. He spit out the bite he took and walked up to the girl that took our order and told her these were fish tacos and he ordered shrimp. She took them back to the cook and came back with the fish tacos and said there was nothing they could do to fix it since she heard him say fish tacos when he ordered. When he defiantly said shrimp. I looked at our receipt and she rang us up for "taco thursday". She was extremely rude and was arguing with my husband about what he said and what she heard. My husband asked to contact the owner and she said I can't give you that info. So she said she could refund us but couldn't make us new tacos. So we asked for a refund and left. I will never be back due to terribly customer service. I couldn't believe she was arguing with us in front of other customers.

Breakfast Burritos for days. This place has really good burritos for a place in Redlands. Again, what can I say? I love burritos.. I like to get tons and tons of salsa because I just love spice and salsa on my Mexican food. Not too much to say about this place except for the fact that I'd come back again if I'm in the mood for it. Parking is limited as it is next to Carolyn's, a great breakfast place too might I add. If you go, go on a off-time hour so there's parking!

  • Scott S.

For my personal taste, and for what I prefer in Mexican food, this was a Yelp-letdown. Good reviews, but not for me. Tried the chile verde burrito (edible but nothing special), carnitas taco (found it very bland) and enchilada (sauce was ok). I tried each of the 3 salsas, and wasn't impressed by any of them. The "mega hot" was not hot, but had an unpleasant "earthy" taste. Finally, the guy working behind the register seemed too interested in dancing to the music playing than to pay attention to our order.

    (2)
  • Ben L.

I literally live across the street from Cuca's Mexcican food which is good but the mild salsa is by far the best salsa ever at Taco Village. Also the enchilada sauce is amazing. I could pour it on everything. The place is clean, the people very nice and friendly. This is my favorite Mexican food place in So Cal and I've been to dozens. Do yourself a favor and order the #6, taco/enchilada plate and become a fan immediately.

My boyfriend and I go in about once every week or two weeks. We love this place. The mini carne asada tacos are real juicy and made to perfection. I always order two shredded beef enchiladas and they always fill me up. Love the people who work there! Everyone is always friendly and fun! Thanks Taco Village!

  • Rachel K.

I always enjoy my experience at Taco Village. The Staff is super friendly and Attentive. I have tried almost all of the tacos and also the chicken flautas. The tacos are excellent if you like them traditional. If you don't like raw onion you are OUT OF LUCK! eat elsewhere. Its pretty much the soft tortillas + Meat + onion & cilantro. I really like their salsa & guacamole (when avocados are in season). Their chicken flautas are delicious! I can feel myself gaining a pound from their delish- isness. Prices are GREAT! No qualms here. Give it a try peeps - if you like good home-down mexican food.

I usually prefer Carolyn's Cafe for breakfast, whenever I am getting my car checked at Brake Masters... but it was so crowded like always, and I saw a big sign for a $1.99 breakfast burrito at Taco Village, all in the same little shopping center. It's so empty inside! But it was nice, clean and had a cool red-orange themed, Mexican atmosphere lol. Nice and informative staff as well. The breakfast burrito was a good size and it was really good. It was filled with beans, rice, egg and chorizo. I don't even like chorizo.. until now. I really love the salsa from the salsa bar, so much I pack extra to take home (sorry Taco Village for stealing extra salsa, but it is soooo good). For $2, it is a great deal. I also got a horchata! Can't go wrong with a large horchata. Other than that, they look like they have a good and extensive menu. I haven't really tried other items but I really like the breakfast burrito and the SALSA! That alone gives the place a solid 4 stars :)

Jessie is amazing, the al pastor is sweet, the nachos made with real syrup and thank God a horchata locally that is NOT syrupy.

Lady who waited on is was very outgoing & helpful. Restaurant was extremely clean!

We keep coming back to Taco Village. We can't help ourselves. The customer service is friendly, fast and efficient, and, the food is delicious. Mostly I pig out on the shrimp items, - tacos and burritos. In the summer I am very fond of the - you guessed it, - shrimp cocktail! This is not your stereotypical cocktail dipped in some spicy red sauce. This is more like Gaspacho featuring large shrimp and avocado. Another delight is the fish filet dinner. It is not on the menu, but if you ask, they will make it for you. The dinner comes with rice, beans and salad, and of course service with a smile.

I've been here 2 times, the first time was pretty good (all for the dollar tacos) then I went again this past week and the tacos were a total bust. I give three stars because the service and the people behind the counter are always so friendly and nice. It's kind of whack that they don't have napkin dispensers though, you have to keep asking for them and you KNOW tacos are messy as hell. I honestly don't think I'll come back here again because you can get better food at cucas or even el torito that are better than this place. Plus, their salsa is kinda bunk. Usually the sauce makes it or breaks it and ...well.. their salsa wasn't really up to par although I appreciate the grilled hot peppers.

I work close by and would love to go here more frequently, but they are too slow. I've been here several times when there are not a lot of customers and it's still slow. It shouldn't take nearly 20 min for 2 baja tacos and a garden salad.

I came here to get a quick bite to eat after running errands during my lunch break. I got two tacos, a chicken and a beef. Total was around $5. The tacos had a hard shell and a decent amount of meat. The tacos were good but I can't say I'd come back for them.

I ate here on 7 November 2012. I arrived 2:30 p.m. and only had to wait 10 minutes to have my order served to me. I had the $10 #5 Shrimp Fajitas with corn tortillas, the most expensive of the combo platters. Absolutely delicious food !! See the four photos I put up

I went there based on the the review of Allan from feedme411.com . I had the flutes combo plate. It was great, the rice was moist and the beans had a great flavor to them. The flutes where full of meat and fried to perfection. The crew was friendly, they new peoples names as they walked in the door. I shall return for their shrimp burrito. I get crowded in the parking look so be cool.

You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. I've had about two thirds of the menu items and they never disappoint. I'm a regular for their Taco Tuesday specials. Overall, service is friendly, venue is clean, get there before the lunch rush to get a table. Take out service is always on point. l love Taco Village.

I have stopped into Taco Village twice and been satisfied with both of my meals. I have tried their street tacos and carne asada burrito. Both had a good helping of meat with no fatty pieces or gristle. I also give them a thumbs up for the minimal greenery (cilantro, onions) and lack of rice, beans and sour cream in my burrito. I want to be able to taste the meat not have it hidden cheap filler. The cashier was patience with us while we scanned the entire menu for five minutes and came out to ask how everything was during our meal. Good customer service considering this is a fast food style place. Extra points for having a Coke cooler full of the Mexican style glass bottles of Fanta, Sprite, Jarritos, Sangria and Coca-Cola.

This Taco Village and the one in Grand Terrace are supposedly a chain, but the menu's seem different. This one is also called Taco Village Mexican Grill. First off, I was really excited to know that this place was really close to my work, just down the street, literally. The location seems a bit off from the freeway, but it's right next to the DMV so if you're not familiar with it, there's your hint. This place is different from the one in Grand Terrace. While the Grand Terrace one has more of the homey-hole-in-the-wall feeling, this one has a more modern feeling. They have a salsa bar but no chip bar; chips are .99. The drink fridge is behind the counter too. This place reminded me of Rubio's Baja Grill. The decor is more modern with canary colored walls and Mexican portraits. It's not heavily decorated. So when we came in I said the secret phrase and was given my free fish taco and drink; I ended up ordering a Fish burrito that has rice, pico de gallo, rice and cheese. My sister ordered thier Taquito combo. When our order came they came out on black foam plates. The other TV has actual ceramic plates. My burrito was pretty big, but what surprised me was that it was grilled on both sides. So it was like a Fish grilled burrito. It had a little less than what I expected. I guess I got used to big burritos from not-so-well-known places. The burrito was pretty cool. I can't say it was the best because I had to add the salsa and I even stole beans from my sister's plate and put it on the burrito. They used the fried fish too, but I really couldn't taste it due to the fact that the rice had so much flavor it kind of over powered the fish. The menu description said it had a creamy sauce, but I couldn't taste or see it. But it may be due to the fact that I put a bunch of crap on it too. The fish taco was a grilled fish taco on two flour tortilla's with a lot of pico de gallo. I think it had sauce but I couldn't see it. I squeezed lime on it and then I saw some of the sauce and lime juice come out, so I guess it had sauce in it. The fish was good. I could taste it. I would say it was probably better than the burrito. My sister's taquito's looked like they were the frozen kind. They came with sour cream and guacamole with rice and beans. She thought she ordered beef, but then the last one she ate was chicken. So I'm not sure if it was all beef or all chicken taquitos. She said they were ok, but I didn't eat them so I wouldn't know. Other than that, the guy working behind the counter was really nice. They played Shakira the whole time we were there too. Think of this place as a mix of hole-in-wall and not. It's really in between because the one in GT is really a mom and pop shop, while this one is kind of hole-in-the-wall but modern. It doesn't have a mom and pop shop feeling to it. They have a really good menu and I do plan on coming back to try everything else. GT is way out of the way for most, unless your passing through. This one is smack in the middle of Redlands shopping center off Alabama and is away from traffic. So come here if you're in the area and want something more than Rubio's, because Rubio's doesn't have shrimp ceivche on the menu. Food: 3.5 stars (I still need to try the other stuff too! This is based off 2 menu items) Service: 5 stars Cleanliness: 4 stars (I didn't use their bathroom, but the dining room was clean and the guy came out and wiped down the table for us after we sat.)

Went here for lunch on Sunday and I have to tell you I have been there several times and just now getting to leave a review. The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly. Pozole was just spectacular! Yummy! Nice huge chuncks of tender pork that just melted in your mouth. The spices they used in the soup were perfect!! Not too spicy yet really flavorful. I can't wait to return and have a big bowl of this soup! Tacos are were again cooked really good and yummy too! My grand daughter had her favorite bean and cheese burrito which she just raved about because the beans had a great flavor to them. This is a really cute small place to go and enjoy a good meal or take out. They really are friendly at this place! YUMMY!!

Tried this place for the first time today, and was pretty pleased. My boyfriend and I set out to find a decent Taco Tuesday experience and we got it. The service was friendly, although mildly invasive, and the pricing wasn't too bad. I am a vegetarian so I tried the "Grandma's Homemade Potato Tacos" and was impressed with their size and taste, but kind of sad that they weren't included in the Tuesday Taco deal. Steer clear of the rice and beans if you're a veggie like me, they are cooked in chicken stock. My bf however is an avid meat eater and ordered one of each of the kinds of tacos available in the deal (5 kinds: chorizo, carne asada, barbacoa, chicken and one other I can't remember) And said they were all good really tasty. His plate was huge for only 5 bucks! We also got chips and guac which was super fresh and tasty, as well as their salsa bar. I would definitely check out Taco Village again.

My sister and I visited on Taco Tuesday and we were very surprised with how nice it was. Most tacos are 99 cents . The staff is energetic and friendly. Carne asada tacos were very flavorful. Chicken was a little dry. Fish tacos are $1.49 on Tuesday and worth twice that, kicks Rubios ass. I had one fish taco and it was huge with a large piece of fish and light crispy batter. This place is worth trying. They give you a bowl of chips when you sit down, salsa bar and soda in glass bottles which I thought was a nice touch.

Very good food, service and experience. The owner Damen is very friendly and customer service oriented. Tacos, burritos, potato burrito, chips and salsa all very good! Feel the burritos and tacos are better in taste than Cuca's #1. Can be crowded during the week and lunch hour, and their is a loyal following. Great place for solid mexican food at reasonable prices for dinner or on the weekends when not as many people show up or are at the DMV.

Fresh and good. Far from authentic and small servings but I will say the food was good, fresh tasting, and pretty cheap. I had a chorizo & egg burrito & a large drink for less than $7. I was full and satisfied. Not my first second choice but not a bad place. I will add that the place was spotless and clean.

Recently, I stopped into a restaurant and was greeted by a staff of "Zombies", no smiles, no emotions, monotone voices and the feeling of just going through the motions. As expected, the food was a reflection of the staff and the entire experience was just horrendous! Then there is Taco Village Mexican Grill. This small Mexican restaurant, located in a tiny strip center near the DMV office on Lugonia is the complete opposite of what I experienced at that other restaurant that I mentioned in the above paragraph. As soon as you enter this small restaurant, you are greeted by smiling staff who really appreciate your arrival and the food is as good as the service and smiles they provide. Led by owner Damen Salha, this happy-go-lucky restaurant serves a variety of Mexican breakfast, lunch & dinner favorites at very reasonable prices. Everything, except the tortillas, is made fresh from scratch all of the food is really tasty. Speaking of tasty, I especially liked their salsa bar which features three types of salsa, one sweet mildly spicy, a tangy green tomatillo and a robust roasted spicy chili salsa. Since I came in later in the day, I missed out on their breakfast items but that didn't stop me from ordering lots of good food. Quick note: check my Yelp profile for extended coverage of this and other great restaurants. Also, let's stay in touch! Add me as a Yelp friend to talk and share tips about the best eats in the Inland Empire! Ok, now back to the food :) On my first pass through the menu, I tried the Mahi Mahi Taco $2.79, a fried fresh Tilapia Taco $1.99 and the popular Torta $4.99. The Mahi Mahi Taco consisted of a nice size filet of grilled Mahi Mahi that was grilled and served on two soft corn tortillas with their special creamy Mexican tartar sauce and a large portion of crispy chopped red cabbage. The fish was excellent and even better when their salsas were added. The Tilapia Taco had the same sauce and cabbage but the fish was battered and deep fried rather than grilled and placed on top of the cabbage for all to see and admire. I love fried fish and this taco tasted as good as it looked. The Torta was another good choice, grilled Mexican roll with mayo, beans, jalapenos, a nice amount of grilled carnitas, lettuce and tomatoes. The sandwich was both delicious and filling and well worth the price although I would have liked to see avocado or guacamole added to the Torta rather than being charged extra for it. Then again, I am very good with other people's money! Next came the marvelous Mazatlan Shrimp Burrito $5.99, a large grilled flour tortilla stuffed with juicy succulent grilled shrimp, jack cheese, rice, pico de gallo and Guacamole, the Chile Verde Plate $5.99, large chunks of pork cooked and swimming in a spicy green sauce, and served with flavorful rice, beans, and tortillas, and the delicious Chicken Fajitas Salad $6.95, strips of chicken, bell peppers and onions on a bed of lettuce, jack cheese and tomatoes with a choice of dressing. All three were good selections but I must warn you that if you don't like hot and spicy, I wouldn't order the Chile Verde. One of the most enjoyable items that I tried was the Chicken Flautas $6.99, lots of flavorful marinated chicken rolled up in a flour tortilla, deep fried until crispy and cut in half. Guacamole, sour cream, rice and beans came with the Flautas and it was really delicious. On another occasion, I had one of their hard shell fried shredded beef taco with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes and it too was very good. If you are looking for some bargains, on Tuesdays, Baja Tacos are only 99 cents while all Fish Tacos are only 99 cents on Thursdays. Good tasty fresh food, friendly service and affordable prices makes Taco Village Mexican Grill a good choice for the entire family.

First time visit. Just happened to be at the DMV and figured why not. Nice menu selection, smaller place but a nice feel. I decided on the California burrito and it was very good. Carne asada was cooked perfect. They have good size burritos but a little pricey, $6.99 for mine. Salsa bar was nice. The Verde was quite tasty and the whole peppers were a nice touch.

Service was great! Everyone was very friendly! Even though it is a fast food Mexican restaurant, we had our plates picked up and asked if we needed anything else more than once. The only thing I would not recommend so far is the ceviche! Fish taco was tasty! They charge .99 cents for chips. Salsa bar was nice and clean. Next time I'll try something new from the menu :) They only have one restroom, it was really clean though :))

this place is overall really good. started going there for the $1 taco tuesdays, but have since ventured into other menu items. the sope is delicious =9 if you're bringing a big group (over 4ish), make sure to get there before the lunch time rush, it can get pretty packed and is bit of a small place.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
