Rok N Fondue is another great addition to the lineup of restaurants in Downtown Redlands. It's the great place to have dinner whether on a date or a large group! We celebrated a bachelorette dinner here in their upstairs private dining room. It overlooked State Street and we had the best seat in the house! ROK Entrées: * Shrimp & Scallops - Really good! * Garlic Herb Chicken - This was just average. It came with quinoa and was good; although, it didn't stand out. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were good though! * Filet Mignon - Tenderly juicy cut of filet. The best! * Fresh Alaskan Crab Cakes - Generously packed with real crab meat! It was moist and delicious with the sauce! Cheese FONDUE: * Rok N Cheddar - This was my favorite because it had a ton of garlic! Imagine: aged cheddar and swiss cheeses with a light domestic beer base, and minced garlic! It was good whether with chips, bread, veggies, or even apples! * Spinach Artichoke - This was good too! * Pesto - This one was really good! Drinks - Delicious!!! It's not the best place to bring a stroller/walker/wheelchair because it's a smaller venue. Although our service was spotty, our party had a great time and we enjoyed the food!

My party of 3 has been sitting and waiting to get a water for 20 minutes we are out of here. Shitty service rude waiters and it's not full capacity. Terrible service who would want to come here

THE BEST FOOD EVER.IN.LIFE. It's a bit pricey but it's definitely worth the money. From the steak with garlic butter and chimichurri sauce, to the Rice Krispies and cookies n cream chocolate fondue. The bartender was great as well. The lavender martini and the pear flower martini were amazing!
(5)Jennifer P.
What can I say other than this place is great!!!! Love the ambiance, service, food...everything. The bartenders,...Jimmy and Josh went above and beyond to make our first experience here wonderful!!! The Vanilla Lavendar martini was so yummy!!!! We will definitely be back!!!!

one word: YES. My favorite restaurant in the IE.. Very friendly waiters&waitresses who will chat with me for awhile. Have only honestly tried the cheese fondue because I keep misjudging how hungry I actually am when I come in here (lol) and will probably write another review when I try everything else... Which is a goal of mine to complete before I move. Very cute & has a fancy enough vibe for me to actually get dressed up for.

Thursday I went to Farmers Market in Redlands. It was hot and humid and I was hungry. We walked around and decided we had to find a restaurant. We went into one and the place was packed. I will try that one when it is not so crazy, Checked out another but the prices were ridiculous. Kept walking then saw Rok and Fondue-the drink menu looked so appetizing so we went in. They were busy but we were seated upstairs. Service: The service was excellent. The young lady was most informative and pleasant. If I remember, her name was Amanda. In fact all the people we dealt with were friendly and efficient. FOOD: We did not want anything heavy so my friend ordered the Andouille Sausage with peppers. I ordered the duck breast with garlic mashed potatoes and delicious green beans. It also came with a to die for Merlot butter and a delicious citrus sauce and some type of green goddess stuff (I can live without, but it was good) She ordered a Caesar Salad but it was over dressed. This was promptly replaced with a salad that was to her liking. My mojito was too sweet and this was replaced by a nice Fetzer red blend. Delicious and it did not compete but enhanced the flavor of the duck. Michelle had an orange beer which was surprisingly good. In my opinion the star of the evening was the Merlot butter. I asked if I could just get an order of potatoes with Merlot butter and was assured that was possible-so tasty, well at least to me. Now how could I resist having a dessert-we split a banana split in a milk chocolate bowl. It was tasty and just the right cap for a delicious meal. We did not order the fondue but I intend on checking it out. Each table has a thermostat for ensuring an even temperature of your fondue. I am glad of that. Just a note, when you open up your silverware there are 2 fondue forks in there. Michelle did her impression of Ray Walston from My Favorite Martian. The water is served in a bottle. Sounds nice doesn't it? Just one thing, we had to ask the waiter to open the bottle, neither of us could open it. Then Michelle closed it to see if she could open it and the first 3 tries she could not and we were afraid we were going to have to ask again but Eureka, she opened it. Thank heavens. The meats are natural and are grass fed and aged. The lava rock used for cooking the food at your table uses a Maillard action, one of Alton Browns favorite methods. The restaurant uses local meats and produce. All in all VERY GOOD and I will be returning. Now, next time, can I get seated in the window with the Michael Petit wine? Submitted by: Frances E. Rok N Fondue is a cool little two story fondue restaurant. The decor inside is pretty neat. There are natural brick walls and interesting lighting. You have to start off with the cheese. I prefer the good old cheddar. Who doesn't love melted cheese? If you are a meat eater, I suggest the rock. I'm a vegetarian, but used to eat meat. I've heard the rock is amazing. You can cook it how you like it on a heated stone. Pretty neat! I personally love the vegetarian fondue. Veggies dipped in sauces are great! For dessert, I love the dark chocolate. It's sinfully delicious, especially if you're a chocolate person. Love this place!

I wish I could give this place 4 or maybe in 5 stars but the service almost made it impossible for us to eat here. We were promptly seated when we arrived for our reservation. We witnessed other couples/groups be seated and waited on before anyone approached us. After being ignored by almost every server in excess of 15 minutes we were cheerfully and apologetically approached by Brian. He SAVED the night! Brian thoroughly explained the menu and made drink, appetizer and entree recommendations. We ordered the Sun Dried Formaggio as an appetizer is was excellent - the light beer truly made the dish. For entrees, my husband ordered the Rok Filet it was one of the tender cuts I'd ever had. I ordered the Rok Scallops and Shrimp they were very tasty but nothing special. The Bananas Foster dessert was flambéed table side in the fondue pot which was pretty impressive. It was nothing short of AMAZING!!! The food overall of was very good. I will only be returning to this place if I can make an reservation and ONLY be served by Brian. We will not be returning if he is unavailable - the other servers made us feel very unwelcome in this establishment.

Came here on a Friday evening; had a reservation for 7:30. They gave us the best seats in the house if you ask me (overseeing the bar and entrance. Far enough where we can hear the live music, but still have a conversation without raising our voices). We started with a cheese fondue; pretty standard compare to other fondue locations. Now for our dinner entrées we went with the rok; I had the cap sirloin and that bad boy had some great flavor. Also ordered the side of mushrooms for a few bucks more (One order is enough to share) and shrimp (the side comes with 4 jumbo shrimp). I ordered potatoes for my sides and they were great as well. Never had some good o' moonshine; this place made that experience possible (I would recommend the strawberry flavor). They also carry a few local craft beers available on tap or they have most other brands in bottle. Overall this was a great experience. What put the cherry on top of our experience here was when our server brought over two glasses of champagne and a card from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary (Definitely went far and above). Ladies and gentlemen, this is a nice venue to bring that special person to celebrate an anniversary. Service was okay, but when I ponder and combine everything into a package, they receive 5 stars for our overall experience.

Aside from briefly feeling like the hostess could've accommodated us just a tad better I had a very positive experience here. The waitstaff took great care of us and the three of us got out having eaten more than we should have for about $90 including tip. I thought that sitting around and waiting for each bite to cook would annoy me but I was full by the time we finished and the cooking time turned into a great conversation facilitator. We spent almost two hours talking and cooking and I barely noticed the time go by. I would recommend throwing everything in and then fishing it out over cooking a bit at a time but whatever floats your boat. The bar, and the decor of the restaurant is beautiful. I wish my home looked so good.

#steak cocked on a 900' hot rock. Amazing cooking concept, delicious food , a great selection of wines margaritas and moonshine cocktails and a wonder atmosphere. Friendly bartenders - overall a 5 star experience at #roknfondue the dipping sauce with the steak are delicious too and awesome strawberry moonshine mule

Been here couple times with friends. The food is awesome and the price you pay is worth it. Service depends on where you are seated. If you get seated in the open area of the restaurant, it doesn't take long for them to come and ask for orders but if you are seated in the long hall way area upstairs, it takes a while or they hardly come by. My friends and I waited forever and no one hardly came by. If you make reservations for 10 people or more the group is considered a big group. They have a preset menu and you have to prepay. If they don't email you within 1-2 days with the preset menu, call and see what is going on because I made reservations and they forgot to inform me the restaurant was going to be closed for an event. I was kind of mad they didn't inform or even call to let me know because I had to scramble to find another location.

I've been here twice and both DINING experiences have been pretty good! (I've actually been putting off writing a review because the guy I went with is now blocked on my Yelp and I was a little scared need find me but it's been a few months now so let's how he forgot about me :-D) Alas, here we go: This place is supah cute and located in downtown Redlands. Both times I visited were on Saturdays and there was live music (huge plus) The menu is a little on the pricey side. Granted, I didn't pay but I kinda felt like returning a favor when I calculated a bill of over $120 each time (I'm joking...kinda sorta lol) I was attended to by the same cute blonde waitress each time and she was so very attentive and helpful! I really love when the wait staff makes you feel welcomed to crazy requests and rhetorical questions! *thumbs up* My first date was allergic to chilli peppers (yup, not MexiCAN) and the waitress was very careful in not giving him any "contaminated" food (wish she would have) The drinks were like really good but one of the dates complained that his drinks weren't strong enough (boo for him) The food is pretty darn good! I've never been a fan of cooking my own food at restaurants but I received a lot of guidance from the waitress since I ordered chicken and I didn't wanna die from salmonella :) This is definitely a place I would come back to but with girl friends and sans the overly attractive male companions Just watch out for the bill because it'll rack up quickly!

Visited Rok N Fondue and overall a very nice place. More upscale than other pubs in the area. Live music was nice, not screaming loud thank you. Drinks are kinda pricey but that's ok because the atmosphere is nice. I do have a complaint about draft beer being served, please serve it COLD! Not cool. Didn't order food but it was offered and smelled very appetizing. I'll be back.

Great place good atmosphere for a date or night out with your friends. Very friendly waitress. I will keep coming here. Good downtown redlands night life spot.

Since childhood, I have loved fondue. As an adult, we had to real choices until The Melting Pot began to make an appearance here in Southern California. Now, we only have two locations to choose from: Irvine and Thousand Oaks, neither of which are anywhere near where I live. A friend told me she wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday this past week and asked if I had heard of Rok N Fondue. I had not, but my curiosity was peaked! I went online and checked out their web site and knew right away, it was my kind of place. Last Tuesday night was the night of our reservation and I cannot think of anything negative to say other than we had to wait a REALLY long time for drink refills. Other than that, the food was great, the menu selections were great, the ambiance of the restaurant was great (I did prefer upstairs to downstairs), our server was fantastic (in every way except the wait for drink refills) and I cannot wait to go back with my husband !!!! One negative for the location - there is NOT much parking so allow for extra time to find parking. I had to park two blocks away and walk. I have severe arthritis so that was a huge pain (pun intended).
(5)George R.
The atmosphere was amazing , service was amazing, food was good but I literally left hungry. lol I would come back but I will be eating twice
(3)The O.
Ok a different experience fondue ok self explanatory but the rok is an 800 degree rock that your entree cooks on. Kinda hip cool idea. Ok the filet, shrimp and scallops were great. The spinach artichoke fondue ap was delish and we decided to get a single serving of the chocolate fondue desert with caramel and peanut butter and it was out of this world. Our waitress was very attentive, kind and knowledgeable. Ok so why the 4 stars?? Well simply because the prices on on the higher end. With tip and two cocktails each walked away for 160 bux. Definitely worth it, walked away super full but more of a special occasion spot. Great date spot.
(4)Denise T.
There's not much to choose from in the Redlands area, so thank goodness for Rok N Fondue! My boyfriend and I ordered two cheese fondues, which they prepare right in front of you. 1) Spinach and artichoke: fontina cheese with spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic in a vegetable broth. 2) Sun-dried formaggio: harvarti, fontina, sun dried tomatoes, and pesto. Both came with sides of cubed bread, apples, cauliflower, carrots, and celery. The service was really on point and the food was good. The overall ambiance is definitely on the romantic side. The bill came out to be around $40 for 2 people. Keep in mind, they only have street parking. Other than that, it's a great time to be had!

I've been here before and really enjoyed it, but tonight the floors were sticky and the place smelled like they need to clean the walls. When I commented as much to the hostess she claimed it was the fish and beef that caused the odor. If that odor is what's for dinner, I'm not eating it. Needless to say we left. Time for a good cleaning, Rok n Fondue.

This restaurant is amazing! I definitely prefer this place over The Melting Pot any day. Honestly I did not go into this experience expecting much because I did not have a very good experience at The Melting Pot and since those locations are consistently closing down I didn't know how a stand alone fondue restaurant would do. I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was great, and I loved that we could sit upstairs and look down at the bar area while we ate. They also had a saxophone player come and play almost until closing which was nice. Mo was our waiter and he was great! He explained everything to us and made great suggestions. I prefer the fondue over the rock because I get more options with the fondue. On the other hand the rock was good too, but you only get one meat and two sides. But I did take the veggies that came with my fondue and let them cook on the rock after they had been in the fondues broth which was really good. This place was similar to The Melting Pot in that they had the same types of dipping sauces for the main course, which were really delicious. The cheese fondue starters and the chocolate fondue desserts were delicious as well, I just wish there were more of each. In the beginning they give you more things to dip into the cheese than they give you cheese. As for dessert, I like how they give you a plate full of options to dip into your chocolate, but I hate bananas and personally I don't like dipping brownies that are super sweet into even more sugar such as melted chocolate. I would prefer they give you an option of things to dip so that I don't just end up leaving things on the plate to go to waste. Overall this place was great! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I will definitely be back soon with friends. #14/100

We came back again, and this time, we were sat downstairs, by the stairs. Our waiter was very nice, and service was good again. We ordered a cheese fondue and some crab cakes, with some beers and a hibiscus martini for thirsty Thursday. The hibiscus martini was so-so. The peach honey wheat beer was to die for, and quite a large bottle, enough for two full glasses. The salted caramel beer tasted like bailey's, which was interesting. The fondue was good but we ran out of cheese with a lot of bread and veggies left over. The crab cakes tasted great, but I kept finding pieces if shell, which made chewing quite hard. Over all, it was good to try a few new menu items, but the shell pieces really bothered me.

I'm in love with this place! Their employees are the best, from their host to their bartenders. The atmosphere is soothing with a taste of L.A nightlife. Nothing but smiling faces and delicious food and beverage. Every drink I've had has been creative and ambitious. They have great deals in drinks and amazing happy hours! When you come visit ask for Josh and Dean they're great!

I had not been to the Redands Market night in probably 20 years. My friend Fran and I did our shopping. It was pretty warm and we were hot and getting tired and hungry. We tried to go to the new restaurant The State. It is owned by a friend of my daughter Jamie, but alas it was too crowded. Caprice Cafe nearby was a budget breaker for us. We had earlier passed by Rok and Fondue and the drink menu enticed us inside. We did not have dinner reservations and the bar seating was full. We were seated upstairs and in a quiet section in the back. I ordered an orange Hefeweizen and my friend Fran had the mojito. It was a tad too sweet so our waitress Jennifer exchanged it for the Fetzer house Cabernet. I chose a small Caesar salad and the Andouille sausage appetizer as my dinner. Fran chose to have the duck entree with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. My salad had a bit too much dressing on it. Our waitress brought me another and it was perfectly prepared. Our water was in a bottle with a cap assembly that was a tad difficult to open. Neither she nor I could open it. A passing waiter did so. I closed it and almost could not open it. I did manage to however do so. My Andouille appetizer came on a Rok with two dipping sauces, one was a balsamic vinagrette, the other was stone ground spicy mustard. It also came with three small slices of sourdough bread. The sausage itself was sliced in half down the middle accompanied by red and green peppers strips and onions. It was very good. Fran and I both fell in love with the to die for Merlot butter. Dessert was a banana split served with strawberry topping and whipped cream in a chocolate bowl. When we got our check the waitress had forgotten to split our check into two as we were paying separately. She did so pleasantly. In my experience I have found that I have great experiences when I find a restaurant on the spur of the the moment. My bill with my wine, salad, appetizer and split dessert plus tip was $37. I would gladly eat here again and plan to.
(5)David C.
This place was a real treat. The moonshine cocktails were delicious and the ambiance was amazing. This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've dined in. My only reason for not giving a 5 star is the portion size. We ordered a double size cheese Fondu and it was just barely enough for two people. Granted I think the idea is to keep you hungry for some chocolate Fondu. You will still be hungry for desert. However, with drinks this tasty and ambience this beautiful I don't think most people would mind sticking around for a second course. I will definitely be coming back. This place makes the top of my list for a cozy date night experience.
(4)Maddie V.
expensive, but absolutely delicious- expect to spend more, but its a great meal to share with friends or to take a date! the service was great, LOVE IT cant wait to come back! also, the bouillon broth is the best ive had!
(5)Ashley M.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my daughters dance recital. I have to say I was quite skeptical bringing 5 children there with our large group. The waiter was extremely patient, extremely kind and gave the impression that he was very pleased to help us. We had our own section of the beautiful restaurant, and to top it off the waiter cooked and plated 3 of my kids food. Never had anyone offer that much help. Something as small as plating my kids food blew me away! I highly recommend this restaurant to any ages.
(5)Paul L.
Fondue is not on the menu of too many restaurants and many people have never experienced it all. Too bad. It is a good experience everyone would probably enjoy. As a restaurant food, however, it presents some challenges. The fondue itself must be kept hot throughout the meal and the items dipped into the fondue preparation must be served in bite sized chunks and be of high quality. Ordering can be tricky because both the fondue preparation and the items to be served with it have to appeal to the person ordering. With all that said, this restaurant is a good choice for a place to go an experience the food and enjoy eating out as a sort of fun event. While we ordered the steak, which is not prepared fondue stile, it was still a uniques experience since it was prepared and presented in an unusual style. It is served as a raw piece of meat and accompanied with a large cooking stone which has been heated to over 800 degrees. Diners themselves cut chunks of meat, place them on the hot stone and cook to taste. It was fun, unique and an overall good experience. The restaurant offers a small selection of beers, but in spite of its limited size, the list has at least one choice of most kinds of popular beers: IPS's, ales, lagers and others. Eating here Lismore of a fun and good experience than it is a gourmet delight, but it is still worth the visit.
(4)Tina Marie G.
Had reservations and then waited 45 minutes until we had just cocktails! Too expensive for the quality. Choice New York instead of Prime. Potatoes were cold and definitely not loaded by any means. The veg were literally floating in water. The upper dining area was filled with smoke as well. Just not worth the money.. On a positive note: It's very cool looking and has an ok vibe in the bar area. Too bad.. Maybe it was a really bad night or something..
(2)Davy J.
Amazing My favorite restaurant ever! Awesome experience Wow - Lava Rock !!! Brittany is the best waitress!
(5)Kristen L.
The bartender Josh Hampton was amazing. Every drink he suggested was delicious and he looks like he really enjoys his work.
(5)Noah S.
Really a 3.5 stars review, but I'd move it down to 3 because I expected more for those prices, but the meat was super amazing, so it's up to 4. Went on a Friday night for date-night with my beautiful wife. Cons: cheese starter came with stale tortilla chips and celery. Seriously? Bread and apples were good though. Mentioned stale chips to waitress, mumbled response. Pros: meat is delicious and local and organic. So delicious.
(4)Nicole R.
I do not recommend this place if you are in a hurry. This is a place for savoring the moment and courses of dinner. It takes a while for the food to get to you. Don't come in starving. I really enjoyed the variety of dipping sauces for the ROK dinner. It was cool cooking my own steak on a rock. Neat experience. I like the vibe of the restaurant.
(3)Mark C.
We are regulars here at the Rok. We only dine down stairs at the bar so I can't speak to the service upstairs or at tables. Dean, Josh and Jeremiah are the bartenders. Side note, calling these guys bartenders is like calling astronauts pilots. They do so much more than just tend bar. Aside from mixing amazing drinks. They make killer fondue, provide insightful tips on ordering (if it's your first time Rokin') and set you up with all the accoutrements and condiments to have a great experience. I highly recommend the Habanero peach martini. Just the right amount of heat and sweet. This past Thursday we met friends and had the crab cakes-which were excellent, the Ahi poki-on lettuce boats had just the right amount of heat and flavor and the black olive tepenade-served with croustinis are always good. Keep in mind all of these items are happy hour prices ALL day on Thursdays along with drink specials. After the tapas and drinks. Each of us split a Cap steak with two sides. Entrees are not happy hour prices. I highly recommend the pesto orzo as a side. Needed a pinch of salt but no biggy. The green beans placed back on the 800 degree Rok with a touch of the port wine butter is to die for. We also had the stuffed mashed potatoes which are always good but ordinary/ Also the fresh veggies which are good. It's not cheap, but nothing good ever is.
(5)Maria A.
Awesome place to have a cocktail! Josh is the best bartender eva!!!!!!my daughter and I had a great time thank you for making it special
(5)Nancy W.
We were a party of four and wanted to try a variety of food. We ordered cheese fondue, the pork tenderloin on the rock, vegetables and the platter of meat varieties. Between the spices they used and the over abundance of alcohol they put in each fondue pot- including the dessert, everything for each course tasted the same. We had an attentive waiter who explained everything well, but when looking for fondue, I won't return here. (The loaded mashed potatoes were amazing though.)
(2)Anjeanette L.
We randomly stumbled upon this restaurant and it was absolutely the best decision. We had a party of seven and split two different pots with double portions each. The Mushroom Bacon Swiss was phenomenal. We splurged with ordering two dessert concurs, peanut cup and the special salted caramel.
(5)Winston J.
This is our second time here after a wonderful first experience. With a bit of a bigger budget we got to go all in this time. My date had a ginger beer which she said was delicious. We were served by Shannon. The food was amazing and very filling ( me and my date shared everything). The only reason it is a four star review this time is because of the host. She was not very friendly and seemed like she wanted to be elsewhere. She was short with us and not welcoming. However, we will definitely come back and thank you Shannon for making our night great!
(4)Bryan Y.
Overall, I would have given the place 4 out of 5 stars. However, the reason why I take one star off is the seating service. We were told that it would take about 50 minutes to be seated since everyone else made reservations. I really wanted to try the place out, so I gave them my phone number and was told that they would call us when it was ready. 50 minutes go by and no call. Luckily, we were walking around State Street. We asked them how long it would take and they forgot about us. The server stated in a shocking expression, "oh I'm sorry; we will go ahead and get your table ready now." Hearing this and looking at how the girl reacted made us understand they forgot about us. We looked at the roster of reservations also and noticed that there were a good amount of people listed after us with their names already crossed off meaning they've been seated already. We were only a party of two. As we got seated, it took about 15-20 minutes for a waiter to come by. This is the good part of the review. The waiter, Cody M., was extremely polite and explained how the dishes went. He also made great recommendations. The cheese fondue was a great dish for two and I do recommend getting the chicken dish because the food was savory and delicious. I do warn not to get if you do not like garlic (*cough* good for the cardiovascular system) because there's quite a bit in there. I also recommend trying their Moonshine drinks. You don't taste the alcohol, which means it'll creep up on you. If I were to star the food, I would say 4 out of 5. Only downside was the broth for the chicken was a bit salty, especially if you have the vegetables soak up. Great place to go on a date or hangout with friends! But, please do work on the seating service. I'm glad I wasn't h-angry because it would be a bad site to see haha
(3)Mari B.
As soon as I walked in I was so impressed the restaurant was so modern, clean, and very classy. We were seated upstairs and at our table we had 2 stove tops , we have the cheese fondue with was SO good. We also have alcoholic drink plus moonshine shots that were different flavors. We all got the filet mignon on the volcanic rock that you cook your meal on to your preference and they bring you different sauces and butters to favor your meat. Everything was DELICIOUS! After our main entrée we had the chocolate fondue and they gave our fruit, brownies, and marshmallows to dip with. SO GOOD! So much fun, and a great experience!
(5)Cliff L.
Wife and I have been there twice now. Super awesome place. Very nice inside and staff are very courteous. First time the wife ordered fondue and it was good. I ordered the filet mignon cooked on the rock. It is seriously the best steak I have ever had in my life. When cooking the filet on the rock, make sure you add the butter they give you on the side. Place is awesome and will keep going back. It is pricey though. Minimum of $200 for 2 people....
(5)Javier D.
Well, I helped open this place up bringing in the music. They definitely have the trifecta. Food, drinks and hospitality. I come back every so often to see how they are doing, and it's runnin' the same way as how I left it. #SMOOTH. I'm proud to say that I recommend rok*n*fondue on Fridays and Saturdays if your looking for a good time in Redlands.
(5)David S.
The fondue experience for dessert was great. We loved it. Why the 3 stars? We called for reservations, which were honored. But upon arrival, we told the host it was our first time. We were given the absolutely worst seat in the house. The one in the way back upstairs, away from all the music, and bar. Next to the kitchen door. It looks like an alley that should never have been used for customers. Just a passageway to the kitchen with some booths thrown in. I went downstairs, and found us two spots on the bar - and then the dessert fondue experience was good. The service was so-so. We did not order adult beverages or an elaborate meal, but the minor things like paying attention to your water glass, or looking our way now and again to see if everything was all right was lacking. But, I had a great date regardless, and the single serving of dessert fondue was sufficient for our tastes.
(3)Robert L.
We shared everything from the starter cheese fondue, through the "Rok" entree and even dessert. Walked out full and satisfied. Great wine and spirit selection. Good experience. We would come back again.
(4)Judy H.
My friend and i have been regulars here every Thursday night. Usually it's just drinks but occasionally we eat. We have never had anything bad, the wait staff is always informative and attentive. the bartenders Josh and Dean are fantastic. definitely come and join in the fun.

We haven't been into Rok'N for a few months. Jeanette was super helpful with happy hour menu. We are super happy with our drinks/service! Subsequently, we will make this a weekly spot. Thanks again to the staff;) she makes the best bloody Mary's!

Came in the other night to celebrate my dad's birthday. Our server, Mo, was friendly and informative and took his time to explain the various menu options to us. We had the wedge and caesar salads which arrived promptly and were fresh and flavorful. For entrees we had the New York strip, pork tenderloin, and my mother had the tomato soup. Again everything here arrived quickly and tasted great. What really made the experience memorable was the complimentary champagne toast, mini-rice crispy square with candle, and birthday card signed by all of the staff. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. We will definitely be back many times.

We stopped in for a last round of drinks and for more of a quieter atmosphere. Friendly bartenders. The place smelled great but we were too late to order food.

This place it's amazing! I must say though the first time we came here it was awful. The food delicious but services was awful. This last time though it was amazing! We even sat there and drank two bottles of wine. That's how relaxing and great experience we had. We will definitely keep coming back.

Tried this place today and it was.... ehhh. The fondue was ok, but definitely nothing amazing. We ordered the cheese with the jalapeños, salsa, and beer and it was just blah. We even kept putting more of the jalapeño and all you could taste was cheese and beer. Again, not bad, but not that good either. Our entrees were served on 900 degree volcanic rocks which I thought is a very cool idea, but the entrees themselves were very disappointing. I ordered the cajun chicken and my companion ordered the lobster tail. Now, for my work, I lived in Louisiana for a few months and I can very knowingly say.... I'm not sure what that was, but it wasn't cajun. It was just a chicken breast with a tiny bit of chili powder sprinkled on it. My companion stated that the lobster, while edible, was simply boring. They serve an array of sauces with your entree and I can see why... no flavor in the entrees. The four sides we had with our entrees were absolutely the worst thing though. Mashed potatoes - cold and flavorless, bacon green beans - strangely sweet and off putting, baked potato - it was black inside (and we were told ALL the potatoes are like that), and spicy chili beans - undercooked beans swimming in a tabasco sauce. The service was pleasant and informative but very slow. The wait staff should really only cover a couple of tables at once, they are mixing fondues and cutting people's entrees, they just can't tend to you in any sort of promptness. We had to flag our server down and ask her to refill my water glass... not great service. Again, while the idea of Rok N Fondue is so great, the execution is lacking. Better chefs and better recipes and this place could go far, but as it is now - as most of downtown Redlands restaurants are going, it's just 'here today/gone tomorrow'.

Enjoyed Valentines dinner with wife and another couple. We had reserved an ideal table upstairs in the front of the restaurant looking out over State St. below through huge windows. We were seated promptly and our server Brittany was very helpful, a lot of fun, and professional. The corkage fee was moderate at $15.00 per bottle of wine we brought to dinner. For the first course we enjoyed the cheddar cheese fondue. For the main course we enjoyed the New York Filet which we finished cooking ourselves per individual preference on the hot rock it comes on. The filet was excellent and came with 2 sides and 6 sauces but the best was the chimichurri sauce and the green goddess sauce. For desert we enjoyed the dark chocolate fondue and the s'mores fondue. The ambience, food quality, service, and live music made this dinner a very nice experience and one we certainly hope to do again.

I've visited this place twice and both times were excellent! I am a vegan and my family are big time carnivores and we all found something to love here. The staff is so genuinely caring and glad to serve that we had a top notch dinner both times. The drinks are fantastic! I had some crazy good martinis and my husband drinks Diet Coke and his glass was always refilled. The decor is cool with the original brick walls and wood floors. Some friends have told me they like to sit at the bar just for drinks and appetizers. This place is good for couples or a group. It is an nice experience where you are not rushed and it's almost like having an activity since you can cook your own items on the lava rock or having fun with the fondue sauces and dipping breads and fruits. I will definitely bring friends when they visit from out-of-town and recommend to locals.

This place specializes in 3 things: the bar, serving meat on "roks," and fondues. My friends and I only ordered rok items so i'll sum up the other two really quick. While you can order from a very extensive wine and beer menu from any table you sit at, there is a very nice bar downstairs (two floors to this place) that wasn't too crowded on a Sunday night. The fondues can be ordered as an appetizer (cheese fondue), entree (meats and seafood), or dessert (chocolate fondue). The table I sat at (a square to seat 4 people) only had one hot plate for a fondue, so I'm not too sure how it works if the entree comes before you finish the appetizer or if you order multiple fondue appetizers/entrees/desserts, but from looking at other tables everyone seemed to be content and enjoying their fondues. Anyways, on to the "roks," which are these stone tablets heated up to 800-900 degrees F (212 F is boiling). You can order a variety of meats and seafood (ranging from low $20 to high $30), which all arrive at your table lightly seared. You then get the opportunity to cook it on your rok to whatever level you want. Of course this means that the meat you order can be a hit or miss, depending on if you butcher it up by overcooking the meat past the perfect medium rare - which I sadly did. Each entree comes with two sides likes mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, steamed vegetables, beans, etc. They also provide you with 6 sauces, all of which were very interesting and something beyond a generic dressing (well, except for the teriyaki sauce). I'm tempted to give the food a "subrating" of 3 or 3.5 stars for several reasons. First of all, the sides were disappointing, with the beans way too salty and the steamed vegetables underseasoned. Second of all, while the meat itself is of good quality, they themselves do not present me with a succulent, perfectly cooked steak. When I compare it to other types of restaurants where I am tasked to cook my own meat (shabu shabu, korean bbq, hot pot), I realize that it is near impossible to screw up cooking meats at other places; whereas, at this establishment for the amateur it can be rather difficult to cook a steak a perfect medium rare (or whatever you like it to be). So effectively I paid for an experience with mediocre sides and a raw piece of beef. I therefore felt like while the presentation of this place is overall quite amazing, the core of the restaurant (the food) is lacking. In conclusion, a very interesting experience but one I'd probably reserve for a girlfriend because 1)it's not just dinner, it's a social experience 2)it's hard to follow up on this if it's your first date 3)atmosphere is more romantic 4)$$$. So overall: Ambiance - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Food - 3.5 stars Quantity to Price ratio: 4.5 stars Quality to Price ratio: 4 stars Unique experience: 5 stars (probably because I only visit $$$-$$$$ restaurants when all the planets align)

Shannon was our waitress and she was awesome, very attentive. She was very helpful since we didn't know anything. We had the rok n cheddar fondue, rok- lobster tail, bourbon street coc a vin, and the chocolate peanut butter fondue. Everything eas beyond amazing- do flavorful, so perfect. BE SURE to taste the Merlot butter that comes with the meal- to die for! The watermelon lime drink was delicious! Very fresh. A great experience!!!!

This is going to be short and simple. We've never been here. We called to make a reservation for our annual office party. They told us we might consider ordering the food in advance for the entire party. It all sounded very cool. When we arrived and told them we had reservations they looked like deer in headlights. The hostess escorted us to the back and wanted to seat is at a dirty table only large enough for six of our party of nine. After explaining to them that we wanted to sit together, they took us upstairs and sat us at a table and we thought everything was fine. The manager came up and told us we couldn't sit there as they had another reservation. When I explained that we had a reservation he said the other party had one first. He explained that we could sit at the two tables behind us, which are about five feet apart. lol? We left. Next time when you can't accommodate a group, just let them know when they call. No big deal. No harm done. When you screw up, don't sit there and make excuses and try to defend your screw ups.

Tip: Remember that Thursday is Market Night so after 6 PM, downtown is closed to cars. Located in downtown Redlands, next to Emerson Jewelry store. Parking: Street parking is going to be your best bet. Downstairs: Bar with a few tables, plenty of seating upstairs. Appetizers: Choice of fondue, you can get breads, vegetables, chips, etc. Also other non-fondue appetizers available. Main course: Fish, chicken, steak, pork, lamb, and shrimp. The main course usually comes with two side options like mashed potatoes and a vegetable. The food comes served on a super hot stone/rock, please be careful. You can cook the meat to your desire. The meat also comes served with 6 different sauces, mix and match as you wish. Dessert: Fondue as well, we ordered chocolate and worth every bite. You can order different kinds of chocolate and fruit to come with the fondue. Overall, loved it and we have been here several times for dinner. Each time, delicious with excellent service and a great ambiance. Price is a touch on the higher side but then again, you are paying for some good quality food and a unique dining experience. Definitely a restaurant I recommend and hope to come back and visit soon.
(4)Laura M.
Loved the food and waitstaff. Wad our first time doing fondue and our waiter wad very helpful, knowledgable, and suggestable (even with beer knowledge). Will defenitely return again!!

So I was excited to try this place out for my birthday dinner with friends. We walked in to find two of my friends sitting at the car waiting- they had been there for 10 minutes and had not been served. I asked to put my name on the list and the bartender told me that I needed to see the hostess. She said the hostess was probably seating someone and would be right back. 25 minutes later, the hostess has not yet returned, and we hadn't even been served a drink. Needless to say we left without getting anything. We sat beside two girls who were there just for a drink who warned us that if we were eating to plan on spending several hours. They proceeded to pay their bill, and the bartender double charges them. All in all it was a bad experience that won't be repeated.

Some of the bartenders are absolutely fabulous! I love this place... Food and drinks here are unbeatable... Atmosphere is fantastic! Josh is an awesome bartender.

I wanted to really like this place. We did go on a Friday night so I knew it would be a while. I just didn't think it would take us almost 3 hrs for dinner. Our waiter would only come by every 10-15 mins or so. We cook things ourselves I don't know why it would take that long. We started with a cheese fondue, I liked that it had Guinness in it. It was very good! We got the chicken & steak to cook. They all had good flavors. Mashed potatoes & veggies were good as well. I got a moonshine mule, it was so good! Ended with the chocolate fondue. There were pieces of strawberry, marshmallow & brownies. It was very good. I liked the food, hated the waiting. I think it is a little overpriced but good experience. Don't know if I'll be back.
(3)Shanah C.
Fun little neighborhood, hot spot for happy hours or dates. Love this place. Great bar with homemade moonshine, live music (changes weekly) and upstairs dining room. Had the chicken and mashed potatoes and risotto. Fun to cook your food on the hot plate. Came with 6 delicious sauces!! Great place!!
(4)Ambir D.
Perfect date night place. The attitude and ambiance make this restaurant a desirable and needed place in Redlands. Servers walk you through the whole process and the food is superb quality. Expensive...but worth it to create a special memory.
(5)Ryan G.
My favorite spot in Redlands. The Moscow Mules are to die for (real copper cups and real Moonshine) and the Fondue is delicious. The atmosphere is chill and goes well with the old town Redlands vibe. I don't have a specific recommendation, because seriously, you can't go wrong here. Just go here already!
(5)Christopher P.
Honestly it was great all the way around the portions are perfect, didn't try anything from the bar because I was driving. I would go back again.
(5)Mr J.
This place is spectacular! The food is adventurous, the cocktails are creative, and our waitress Britney was truly amazing! I recommend going HUNGRY and trying something from every course menu. The price might add up but you will have a memorable and joyous experience.
(5)Jeff M.
My wife and I went on a date and enjoyed this place. We started off with peach habanero martinis. Then we had the cheese fondue appetizer with sun dried tomatoes formaggio, which was delicious. My wife enjoyed the filet mignon rok, while I enjoyed the shrimp and scallops rok. Even though we were full, we had to get dessert. We've had fondue desserts before so there were no surprises, but our half milk chocolate and half dark chocolate with peanut butter dessert fondue was yummy.
(4)Leanna L.
This is my second time here. The ambience is great to have a night out with the girls or a date night. I had the lavender Martini the first time. It was really good. The ahi tuna tartare is good too. I ordered the rok sirloin steak and it really goes well with the butter they serve. Be careful to slice it so as to check how well you want your steak done. We got served by Brian. Awesome service!! Ask for him and he will hook you up with secret ingredients to go into your cheese fondue and ways of cooking stuff. Highly recommend this place!!
(4)Erik And Tanesa B.
CUSTOMER SERVICE is not their priority here. We made a reservation and still had to wait 10 mins past that. Then the hostess places us in a drafty area that literally made our daughter's hair blow in the wind. Way too cold of a spot. We noticed there were a lot of empty tables so we asked to be moved. Hostess replied that all tables were full and if we wanted we could wait for another table to open up. Enough said.
(1)Ming W.
Been here 2 times. Food is great and service is on point both times. The recommend getting the cheese fondue single portion. The double portion is a little big. Single portion is perfect for 2 people. The entrées and sweets are delicious as well. Ninja taste buds are happy and satisfied.
(5)Alexis B.
I went with a friend and we sat at the bar and after a little confusion on who was serving us we had a great time. The bartender made a special cheese fondue for us not on the menu and it was awesome. I had a lavender vanilla martini that was delicious and the cap steak was very good also. My only complaint was my mashed potatoes were cold but was to stuffed to eat them. I would definitely eat here again!
(4)Christina B.
Loved this place the ambiance and live music was great. The food was amazing but it can get pricey really fast but it was definitely worth it. The servers were very attentive.
(5)Anna T.
I know this is late, but I came here on new years eve (in the afternoon) to have a few drinks and appetizers with my boyfriend and was extremely disappointed. We sat at the bar, and not only were the drinks bland, but our ahi tartare was served with POTATO CHIPS. Service was awful. I understand they must have been stressed about that evening but they should have remained closed until then if it was going to be a problem. I've been here 4 or 5 times but New Years was my last.
(2)Sania S.
I really like this place and the ambience. They had a live band playing the last time I was there, which really added to already cool vibe. The food menu AND the drink menu are just great, along with the service!
(5)Allie T.
We went here on Valentine's Day. Fantasic food, fantasic service- shout out to Matthew for taking of us! Love this place!
(5)Amiena A.
Tonight was my 2nd time making a reservation for a party of 10 and my 5th time visiting Rok n Fondue. The night started out disastrous. The hostess was unbelievably rude. We were seated 15 minutes late and our table for 10 ended up being in a "private" room [read service entry area] that comfortably seated maybe 6 people. Needless to say, I freaked out. Thankfully, my favourite server there, Josh, stepped in to save the day. He single handedly turned our crazy non-professional experience into a lovely evening. Of course, the lovely live jazz band playing in the background and the quirky ambience of this quaint restaurant are exciting. Yet, what makes this place one where you keep going back to again and again is the service. Thankfully, Rok n Fondue, score out of the park with Josh. He is by far the best part of this restaurant. He even cooked the food for my mums and her table. Moving on, this place provides a great bit of entertainment when interacting with a group over cooking at the table. Oh, and I can't forget the Washington Apples, amazing drink indeed. So in the end, because of the great service by Josh, I'll keep coming back to Rok n Fondue.
(4)Mary Jo D.
Doug and I went there for our anniversary..., we also took Ruth there who was in from Ohio and has never eaten at a fondue place....we had both the fondue and the rock....we had the fondue before but not the rock...it was an experience...the food was awesome and the choices we sooo many.....the waitress was very helpful with explaining what was going on....we will good back many times.....
(5)Nick S.
Went there with some friends to try something new...bad choice. Will never go back. To start they stuffed in a small cubby behind the bar. Which wouldn't have been bad except for the fact that all the smoke from the fondue pot just hovered around everyone as it had no place to go. The waiter we had was ridiculously bad. He never took a drink order, forgot one of our entrees, we had to ask him to clear empty plates from the table. Had no clue about wines(he asked if a port was a beer), and we only saw him every 30-40 minutes, They had a live jazz band playing which was nice, but you could barely hear anyone talk. Maybe upstairs was better, but like I said we got stuffed in a corner. Also they kept playing showtoons and kids tv show songs...guess if ya like the hipster vibe it was fun. Food was very overpriced for the portions. Apps weren't bad tasting, desert the same, but for some ungodly reason they put a rub all over the meats which when you cooked them in the broth it gave a very sour taste and made it taste like the meat was spoiled. Overall a very miserable experience. If you just want to hang out at the bar I'm sure it would be nice, but then again you will pay for overpriced drinks, might as well go to one of the breweries close by.
(1)Lori O.
Energetic waiter, good food, portions small for price compared to competition, great concept. They should incorporate a gluten free menu.
(4)Lori D.
Really cool place! My bf and I took my parents here last week, for their 48th anniversary. We wanted to do something fun and different for that they wouldn't do for themselves! This was perfect for the occasion but since our bill was $300 after 25% tip, it's not something we can do all the time! They do have great daily happy hour specials though! Cool beer and drink selections! The food: Delicious! We did the sun dried tomato cheese fondu appetizer! So good! I had the fillet mignon rock meal with the green beans and loaded mashed potatoes, I loved it! My dad had the shrimp and scallops rock meal, same sides, he also loved his! My mom and bf had the tuna. Neither of them thought it was very good, both said it was slimy and fell apart in shreds before they even cooked it. Also said the taste wasn't good! Neither of them mentioned this until after, otherwise I would've mentioned it to our server, and I'm sure they wouldn't fixed it! Service is great! For desert we did the chocolate/Carmel/walnut fondu!!! So delicious! Service: our server was Trevor. He was great! Really nice and totally on it! My only complaint is I wish they would of put us on the little balcony type room, with windows. I made reservations and told them it was a 48th anniversary thing but I guess you have to ask for that seat. Really cool... They have live music on the weekends!
(4)Lara B.
Rok N Fondue is overall a really good place. If you like fondue, then you can have a fun and yummy dinner experience. The bar is great too. I love their cocktails. They have some creative drinks. The only thing I don't really care for is how loud it is. The acoustics in the building make it difficult to have a conversation, especially when there are boisterous people in the bar. I think I enjoy it more when Im out for drinks and maybe dessert with friends, than a nice date night.
(4)Eliza Z.
Wonderful food!!! Awesome service!!! We had two cheese fondue. One was the flame thrower which is a special for the month of May. Very spicy but delicious. The other one is spinach artichoke, very yummy!! Then we ordered different entrees that were cooked on a volcanic rock. Awesome experience!! Very tasty sauces and sides too. Our server was polite and very pleasant. We'll definitely come back!!
(5)Jeremiah J.
Our waiter was great. He was very helpful when it came to making sure our first experience was positive. The food was good and so was the atmosphere. It was expensive, almost $100 for me and my two kids, but that is to be expected at this type of a restaurant.
(5)Paul N.
Fantastic! The ambiance is nice. Our server (Brian) was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was was delicious; we had the fondue and new york steak. Eating here is a unique, enjoyable experience. Best date destination my wife and I have found in awhile. * *Go with the understanding that you're supposed to take your time. You'll certainly not be done in less than an hour, maybe even two.
(5)Spring C.
I did the full course... $150 for 2 people... I felt like it would have been more appropriate to pay about $50 for what we got. This is nowhere near the quality that would justify the price. Here's a breakdown on what I got. Appetizer -- looked like it had the potential to be really good but one of the ingredients added a stinky taste. Soup -- Not hot, just warm, and way too cheesy, cauliflower in the soup was great. Her salad was good, the dressing was a little weird. Protein, (that's what they called it) Chicken, just OK, Filet mignon was good but she got sick afterward. She left it on the rock for quite a while, to be fair to them, they do warn you to make sure to cook everything very well since it's up to you how long you cook it. Desert was good. If I ever go back I'll get a different appetizer and a desert and some drinks and skip the rest of it.
(2)Darlene C.
This place was truly delicious . We went on lunch hour and purchased the $3 mimosas, $9.95 cheddar fondue and the $34 filet mignon . The steak was very tender, melt in your mouth delicious :) will be returning !
(5)Amber M.
So sad...I've been here for over 20 minutes and still no server. I was really excited to come here for my birthday
(2)Meghan L.
Dining here was a fun experience, from having the fondu made at the table, to grilling our own entrees on an 800 degree stone. The rok entrees are served with a variety of dipping sauces that we enjoyed. That said, I don't see myself dining here again soon simply because of the cost. The atmosphere, service and food are all great. I recommend making a reservation & if you can't climb stairs, be sure to mention that, since the majority of seating is upstairs.
(4)Mike H.
Wow first time here. Waiter was super friendly and helpful. They bring out your protein on a 900 degree lava rock to cook. The steak was great very tender and flavorful. My daughter had the stuffed burger and just loved it. The fondue was good, especially the green apple slices.
(5)Christi D.
This is such a fun and interesting place! I was so excited to try fondue for the first time and it did not disappoint! We did the feast fondue with the broth that was an extra $4.. The flavor was pretty amazing and it had a lot of flavor.. I would recommend it but I'm sure the regular broth would be good enough. After we had the chocolate s'mores and that was pretty amazing too... I could of eaten the chocolate by the spoonful. The only cons for this place is its a bit pricy for the amount of food you get. This is not the place to eat if you are starving. You will probably leave still hungry. The fondue takes awhile so if you are looking for something quick to eat.. It's not the best idea. We were there for about 3 hours. This place also has lava rock dishes which look pretty cool too. I would recommend this place for a fun date and I will be returning for sure ( in very small amounts... Since its a bit pricy!)
(4)Jeff M.
I've been here several times and have good and whatever times to say the least. To start off, food is delicious! Specialty house cocktails are different and exceptionally tasty. The ambience at night is very casual, but you can definitely dress up and impress a date. The live singer always provides quality music and entertainment as well. So, definitely a must try for these pros. Unfortunately, I did experience a few cons. First off, price wise....it ain't cheap that's for sure, but it ain't expensive by no means. Let me explain, for the food portions you get it's a little overpriced. Cocktails are fairly average priced. The food is very good, but you get such a small portion I can't justify the price being reasonable. Next, the servers. Not rude, but very business like. I think because they need to explain everything from cooking times, to meal prep, to sides, it's so scripted it doesn't feel engaging enough for me to interject with questions or concerns because I get so lost with there meal pitch. They race through the sauces for example explaining this is good for this and this is good for that, not considering they give you a dozen different sauces, by the time they get to the last one you forget what the first one was. Lastly, this is where I might be a little nitpicky, but I understand this is fondue and don't kill me with messages saying I'm being unfair. But, last time I went it was for "date night." Typical dinner and a movie. Well, after dinner and going to a local movie theatre AND dousing myself with cologne in my car I could absolutely NOT get the smell off of my clothes. Throughout an entire 2 hour plus long movie I could smell Rok N Fondue all over me. Again I apologize and knew what I was getting myself into, but still take this into consideration fellas....bring an extra shirt and you'll be all good. Sum it up in a few words, great food for a foodie, great for a couple drinks. Cool place to come to hang out on the weekend. Perfect for date night. But, come prepared with an extra outfit, little extra cash, and maybe a snack because you'll be hungry again soon after.
(3)Dianne P.
Absolutely delicious. The double portions of cheese fondue and peanut chocolate fondue are perfect for two, but you will definitely be full afterwards!
(5)Desire F.
Hope you love to spend a lot of money to cook all your own food. I ordered the vegetarian plate, which was mushrooms, two small pieces of ravioli, 4 tiny cut up potatoes, some slices of bell peppers and about three strands of asparagus. Everything was raw. You have a huge pot of broth to cook everything in. You also have to have a small amount of cooking knowledge to know how long to cook it all to get it to your liking. My boyfriend ordered the filet and it came with mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. He had the rock to cook his steak on and he said it was good. The huge problem I have with this place is that 1.) since we ordered different things, my food took way longer to cook than my dates food. 2.) we spent over 60$ dollars for a bunch of raw food we had to cook ourselves and wasn't very much. I could have spent half that cost and cooked it at home with food to spare instead of cooking it at a small restaurant. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Save yourself a lot of money and cook your food at home.

Great meal in the Redlands thanks to Joshua at Roc N Fondue. The pork tenderloin was probably the best I've had in years. Our helpful waiter guided us through the menu from start to finish. He helped us prepare the meat at the table on the roc which brought it to the perfect doneness. My son and husband had the filet and manhattan steaks. Our sides were the bacon marinated green beans, quinoa, and basil orzo. No dessert after such a great, filling meal. We started our evening at the bar with a fantastic bartender. Since we were there for the Happy Hour prices, ordered drinks and an awesome bruschetta and olive dip. We will definitely be back. Since we were there to celebrate our son's birthday and recent move to Redlands, he was given a birthday card! How many restaurants do that!
(5)Matthew P.
Such an original idea! The staff is friendly, the bar atmosphere is relaxed, the dining area is cozy & quaint, and the food was very good. Will be back to try other dishes and combinations. They also have gluten-free options.
(5)Lyndsey J.
Really good customer service, drinks were good and good music. Not to crowed and clean!

Visited on Valentine's Day 2/14/15 and arrived about 30 minutes early. Hostess said they were packed for the night but they would be calling us back at our scheduled reservation time of 8:30. We waited patiently and around 8:45 I noticed a couple who clearly stated they had no reservation be led inside to be seated. My husband went to inquire about being seated the hostess said " I was just getting ready to call your party..." Strike one! We are then escorted up a flight of stairs to a small table cramped against a wall. The pre fixed menu required a minimum amount to be spent per person which is fine, but how could a party of 4 Enjoy fondue and the rok cooking when there is barely enough room for our water glasses and our elbows are banging against each other? Inquired with our server about a possible bigger table and she replied the larger tables were reserved for other parties even though several table remained empty the entire 2-3 hrs we spent here..Strike two! The server quickly threw everything into the pot and mixed everything so quickly the consistency of the cheese reminded me of Elmer's glue we used in elementary school! Thick, pasty, and lacking any flavor in my opinion! Went to use the restroom only to be cramped in a small hallway in line as they only had one toilet for use. This big huge resturant only had one toilet?! Strike three!! Slow service, mediocre food, and a hefty dent in my wallet! Thought I would love this place after really enjoying dinner at the Melting Pot but there is just no comparison! Lessons learned! Will not be back!!
(1)Virna D.
Give this place a try! We tried the spinach artichoke cheese fondue..its ok..tastes just like any other spinach artichoke dips. I'll try their other cheese dips in the future to find a favorite. If you're doing fondue, the coq au vin broth is the way to go, well worth the extra $4. Our filet mignon was delish, very tender. We ended with banana foster fondue for dessert it was great! It may seem pricey but they do give you a lot. We were stuffed. Will def be back soon.

I went to Rok N Fondue for dinner on New Years Eve. Based on the menu and other reviews my expectations were high. Truthfully, the service was terrible and the server was unable to answer simple questions about the menu and didn't give recommendations when I asked. Her response to my questions about the menu items were, "I've never tried it". A server should be able to describe an item or give a recommendation even if they haven't tried it. I can handle bad service, but the reason I gave the place one star is because I was really disappointed with the food. Everything was salty, really salty. I shared the spinach artichoke cheese fondue. I understand that cheese by nature is salty, but it was really just priming my taste buds for what was to come. For the main course, I had the seafood selection with court Bouillon. It was so salty I actually didn't even eat my half of the veggies. I shared the pumpkin spice fondue for dessert and it was terrible too. It was cold, which I didn't expect, and didn't taste like chocolate (chocolate was in its name on the menu). I have been toThe Melting Pot and really enjoyed it, but i wanted to support a local business and experience something a little more unique in terms of atmosphere. Needless to say, I wont be back.

This place gets 4 stars from me for it's bar and ambiance. The bartenders are great, especially Josh who is always coming up with more drinks to try. His latest creation is a watermelon jalapeño margarita that is my new favorite drink! Just the perfect combination of sweet and spicy! Love stopping in after work for a drink with co-workers or bringing the girls. The pear martini is also delish!!!!!!!

Went with my two favorite girls and had an outstanding evening. It's true, it's not cheap, but the portions are large, food quality is excellent and it is fun! We did both fondue and the hot rock. The drinks from the bar were great. Service was friendly and attentive. Down side---very smokey. They definitely need to work on the ventilation. I left smelling like a barbecue pit. Just changing my clothes didn't cut it, I had to take a shower and wash my hair before I could get the dogs to quit thinking I was a walking steak!

Best restaurant and service in Redlands! Thank you to Dean and the rest of the employees for the great night!

Ordered duck breast and they had removed the fat from the breast before bringing it out for me to cook. Who does that? Clearly they need a real chef who knows not to remove the fat layer from the breast. Amateurs. Also, the sides were underwhelming. Nothing special about them at all. I'd only come back for some dessert fondu, but never the meals you cook on the hot rocks. Other than that, the place is neat inside and has an interesting set up.

We planned a baby shower here. They let us use the room on the 2nd floor overlooking State Street. We really enjoyed the private room with lovely arched windows. The windows open which is a nice touch...except for the flies that come in so we ended up closing them :-( The room seated 18 people over 4 separate tables. Sunday afternoon from 1-5 was the perfect time and the staff did not make us feel rushed to wrap up our party. Our server was Josh. He was great, very pleasant, and helpful. He even offered to help us to the car with our packages. We had multiple cheese fondues across the tables and rotated from one table to the other, depending on which fondue one wanted :-) It's not cheap to have a party here but for an occasional special event it was ok to splurge. I recommend Rok n Fondue for a special event (as long as you're ok with being seated at separate tables). I think it'd be great for a fun dinner with my husband.

Downtown Redlands is a really nice area and after seeing an ad for fondue, decided to check it out. Bar downstairs with an open ceiling that is the second floor and eating area so up top it gets a little noisy. It took a couple minutes to be noticed as the hostess was elsewhere but after getting seated, we immediately ordered a drink and crab cake appetizer. It took a bit longer than should have to get the drink but the cakes were really good. Imho, the flavors of the sauces and rubs they use on the meats get lost and muddled in the bouillon or Coq au Vin they serve as fondue liquid. We had Bourbon st and it's all coated with blackened seasoning. It's tough to pair that with a dipping sauce of teriyaki or teriyaki merinade with Coq au vin. My favorite was the sour cream sauce and the wife's was the gorgonzola dipping sauce. A sweet wasabi sauce was there but couldn't taste anything because of all the other strong flavors going on. We didn't do dessert but they looked pretty good. Service was spotty. One placed the fondue at the table but a moment later the food arrived but couldn't cook it because the liquid was warm, not boiling like it needed to be so another 10 mins were spent staring at food that couldn't be eaten. Lastly, upstairs gets smoky because of the orders on the Rok (stone heated to 900 degrees for you to cook your food to order on). It was getting hazy staring across the space from all the smoke created with no real sign of ventilation so I'm glad we went on a Sunday at 530. It's different and a nice place, mildly expensive at $24/plate. If friends wanted to go I'd go again but to me it's "been there, done that".

Unique food, friendly service, great atmosphere. Expensive but great for a special treat!

It's was our first time here and it was delicious. We were greater and immediately seated. It was a Tuesday so Martinis are half off ( we enjoyed the Pear, Rok N Berry & Hypnotic Martini and we enjoyed them all! The pear was very refreshing and light). We started with the cheese fondue and got a single portion which is great to start for 2 people. We shared the bourbon streets fondue which Included chicken, shrimp and filet- all were tender and deliciously seasoned. The teriyaki and the chimichurri dipping sauces are delicious!! We ended with a single portion of the dark chocolate fondue and it's amazing, a perfect ending!!! We definitely recommend, I'd just choose 2 entrees versus 1 to share the meat portions are enough but may leave you hungry identity come starving. Wonderful service too with great music!

This place was really good, seems pretty pricey for the area. The cheese fondue was great and the stone cooked meat all has a very earthy, stone-y (haha) flavor, which is great. Service was good and it's a very pretty space. I was a little annoyed by the fact that I ordered spiked apple cider and it had a big ball of whipped cream on top - sure I could have asked them to take it off, but eh, too much effort. Just let people know your apple cider has cream on top and ask whether they want it or not.

Had lunch here for the 1st time and found that I liked the food. I didn't get the fondue because being Chinese I'm lactose intolerant... Joy. I stuck to cocktail drinks & had the ahi tuna lunch sandwich. We were 30 mins early for happy hour so no taking advantage of the discounts. No big deal though because as long as the food & drinks are good I'm more than willing to pay top dollar for them.

We don't generally go to fancy places like this, but we didn't have the kids so we decided to try. Don't bring your kids! They'll burn their fingers off. I got the ROK steak what was incredibly tasty. I was able to cook the steak to different levels on the rock giving me some nice medium and well done pieces. The sides were 'meh', the real attraction here is the protein. My fiancée hated her vegetable fondu. Couldn't really blame her as it's literally just boiled (expensive) vegetables in a flavored broth. Our server was great, he explained how it all worked and made some great recommendations.

Went here on a whim as it was the only place we could find that was still serving food at 9:45pm. As this was our first time to Redlands, we had no idea where to go and are so thankful we came across Rok n' Fondue! The hostess who greeted us was sweet and insisted we eat there even though the kitchen closed at 10. After cozying up to the bar, We were greeted by Steve the bartender. He offered some great suggestions for both drinks and food choices and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere of this place is second to none. The exposed brick walls, the amazing bar which is very well stocked and wonderfully displayed, the grand chandeliers. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere but still very modern and fresh. We ordered 2 of the Rok Entrees; the duck and the pork tenderloin. Without having any idea what we were in for, Steve soon brought out a massive feast and placed it all in front of us. He gave us a fantastic and in-depth demonstration on our meal; how to cook the meat on the stone, for how long, what each sauce was and which ones paired best with our entrees, etc. We were served 8 different sauces! How fun to try a different sauce with every single bite! The food was unbelievable! I enjoyed every single piece! After we finished our FANTASTIC meals, we had a great chat with Steve about the restaurant as well as some places we could go for a drink afterwards. He was able to determine the type of place we were looking for and pointed us in the right direction. He even advised us to speak with a specific bartender at the place we were heading, knowing that he would also take great care of us. It's rare to find a place like this. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed every minute of our time spent there. We didn't want to leave and also found ourselves the next day thinking about the next time we would have an opportunity to go again! Fantastic service! Amazing food! Wonderful music! I can't WAIT to go back!

We have been to a few fondue places. Hip Kitty in Claremont is another favorite. This one is quieter. Not as much food but great cheese and chocolate. Good wine. Fondue meats were ok, coco vin sauce smelled and tasted good. And if you get Matt as a waiter, he may seem intense at first, but he is very knowledgeable and wants to make sure everything is right. Knew a lot about the menu. We had fun with him. Downside: we had reservations at 7, got there at 6:50, were told we'd be seated at 7, and didn't get seated until 7:15. Little slow in getting service off the ground but once w had Matt, it all went uphill!

Last night I had the opportunity to share a meal with my parents on my birthday. I am so grateful to have experienced the ambience, service, and flavors I experienced at RokNFondue! Our server, Jeanette, was attentive, patient, and provided recommendations that heightened the integrity of the service. The only moment that derailed me was being disappointed with the wine and martini. The martini had too much vermouth and the wine lacked the body a cab should have (to be fair, it was their house bottle at $30). All was made worth the experience when Jeanette brought a complimentary glass of champagne and a birthday card signed, individually, by staff members. Quite impressed and appreciated! Cheers!

Really cool place to eat at with friends, but I would not recommend doing any kind of special event here. The food is great, and the service was very good, but i guess i was just very put off at the fact that all the tables were bolted to the floor lol I had arranged a small birthday dinner here for me, and they set me up in a little room on the 2nd floor. I want to say we had a party of about 15, and seating arrangements were pretty awkward because of the fact that we couldn't move the tables. It's understandable though.. since each table has a grill for the meats and fondues, it's something that they can't exactly help. Other than that, I was actually very satisfied with their service. The staff was excellent, and the food was very tasty.

This place is soo cute and it's close to home! Perfect place for a date night . Loved how the seating was upstairs. Not really a fan of having fondue as a main course but the dessert is delish! The gram-cracker fondue was good but it made the consistency kind of chunky...I still recommend it...try it out!!

Walked in on a monday night, with a girlfriend and was promptly seated in the upstairs area. There is a backroom in the upstairs area that would be good for a private party which was being used on this night, otherwise the dining room is basically scattered with lone couples. Not sure why they didn't just shut down the upstairs portion and seat people downstairs when it was obviously a slow night. Makes the environment a little cold, and at the time that we went there was absolutely no background music playing. Just to give you an idea of what the ambiance is like on a slow night. On Mondays they have a deal on their "moonshine cocktails". Being one that does not like sweet drinks, I asked them to make mine "less sweet" and it was tolerable. The drink itself is very small and comes in a mason jar. At first we thought...no wonder this is half off because it is super small and probably not worth anymore than the $4 dollars (typically $8) we were paying for it. However after two of them, we were both definitely feeling the warming effects of it. I would say worth trying. We decided to order a mushroom based gruyere fondue. The waiter explains the entire fondue process, which is nice but I don't know if necessary, and mixes it for you chairside adding ONE ingredient at a time haha which I found amusing and not sure it really adds anything to the taste of the overall dish. We ordered two portions ($9 per portion), and it fills up about half of the fondue pot that they provide. Even as two girls we easily finished it. Comes with unlimited amount of dipping foods (tortilla chips, basic vegetables, green apples, mediocre rosemary bread). I don't know if the taste was worth $18 dollars, but I wasn't completely disappointed with it. We also ordered a tuna tartare that had fresh jalepeno mixed in, came with salt and cracked pepper potato chips. My friend could not handle the jalepeno and had to immediately stop eating the dish, and myself having a very high tolerance for spiciness had to agree that it was on a high level of spiciness. I thought the potato chips that came with the tartare were horrible, just seemed like some bag of chips they bought at the grocery market, did not go with the tartare at all, wrongly shaped and over salted. We chose to go with the Rok fondue option. Supposedly the rok they bring is 900F. Chose the Seared Ahi and New York filet. I would say it was a good sized portion for each cut. We obviously ordered way too much for two girls. The whole Rok thing is really just for looks. You basically use it for about 5 minutes to cook on top of the Rok other than that you have to rush to take the meat off, or you will obviously overcook whatever entree portion you choose. The sides were just your average, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, basil orzo, etc. They provide about 8 different dipping sauces (in one of the pictures I posted), but I dont know if any of them were really THAT good. It would be better to just have 4 or so that are excellent. Lastly, when our waiter came to take away the rok cookware, he placed one on top of the other...and I don't know if he wasn't thinking but it basically cracked the ceramic on one of the platters and a huge chunk of hot glass went flying onto our table. Honestly if that piece had hit any of us in the face, that would have caused a HUGE burn and he is really lucky that we were very understanding of it. Just saying they should think about the science behind using such types of cookware and proper removal from the table. He actually seemed very unaware of how to deal with the heat of everything, like couldn't remove the fondue pot because it was too hot and went to go get a towel. I suggest that the waiters each have some potholders on hand. We opted out of the chocolate, because we were so full. I would say this spot could be nice for a date night for those that wish to stay within the IE. Our bill was about $115 which I thought was definitely steep for the area that we are in. Just be aware of what you are paying for...ambiance in the IE. I would say its worth several visits, but not sure if it will become your NEW favorite joint,

My wife and I are big fans of fondue, whenever we get the chance to escape from four kids. We have been to the Melting Pot many times and in many different locations. Once Rok N Fondue came to Redlands, we knew we had to try it. We invited our good friends along, knowing that fondue is such a great social opportunity. The more the merrier. From the street, the restaurant is eye catching. It is simple, but still but definitely speaks it personality from the street. As you walk in, the bottom floor has a large wrap around bar area which you can also have your meal at. I'm guessing this is an area more for those that are looking to meet someone new. We didn't have reservations on a Friday night, but was seated after only a minute. As we walk upstairs you really start to see more and more the uniqueness and how this differeniates from the Melting Pot. We were seated and greeted by our server, who made sure we familiar with fondue and the courses availble. After a couple minutes, he noticed a table leaving, which is the room right off of State Steet. This room is beautiful and has three large open windows where you can see the beautiful downtown area. We were very grateful for him considering our dining experience, and moving us to this table. Once seated again, he gave us suggestions as well as serving size suggestions. I was rather hungry as looking for great drinks as well. We ordered a few drinks to start the night off, and the first course was on it's way. It was the rok n cheddar cheese fondue. For a party of 4, it was a good size. The server brought out the bread and veggies to go along with it, and we soon realized those were not enough to cover all the cheese we had, so he happily brought more for us. Of all the cheese fondues my wife and I have had, this was by far the best ever. Just writing about it, makes me want to go there for lunch today, just for the cheese. Upon ordering our main course, the server suggested not to share (upselling, which I understand, that's his job), but considering how large the cheese fondue was, we decided to share with our wives. We both ordered the bourbon street fondue, which gives a wide sample of different meats. As the meat came to us, I was initially dissatisfied with the quantity of meat. Once my wife and I started to cook our meat and eat it, I was glad I didn't order another entree. It was plenty for us both to share and incredibly delicous. Our friends really loved their entree as well. The service during this time was great, as both the server and the busboy made sure our drink orders were filled promptly and that we were satisfied. The greatest thing about fondue is the time it takes to enjoy the food. This includes conversating about it, mixing the different sauces (which there were about 8) and finding the right food combo for each person. If this part is rushed, it can really kill the experience. Our server never rushed us, but encouraged us to take our time. By the end of the entree, and plenty of drinks, we were too stuffed for dessert, but that just means we will be back Overall, a great place, with great service and an even better ambience. It's a little spendy, but great for those special occasions.

This place is a new twist on the fondue rage of a few years back, combining traditional fondue with hot rock cooking. It seems like they've pulled it off! Looking in the front window from State Street, we almost kept walking because we were looking for a restaurant, not a bar. The ground floor of this restaurant is dominated by a bar, though on entry one will see several tables for diners. Notable at the back of the restaurant is a staircase leading to the second floor, and that is where most of the restaurant action takes place. The hostess showed us to our table and we were presented with menus and the name of our waiter. As we looked through the menu, it appeared to be complicated and hard to figure out if an appetizer, entree, and dessert would be too much. Fortunately, our waiter Steve stopped by and asked if this was our first visit, and upon confirmation that it was, Steve offered, and we accepted, his tour of the menu. Rok N Fondue - Keep Steve happy, he is a great waiter and we'll ask to sit at his table again! Once understood, the menu is pretty easy to follow. There are several appetizer fondue pot options, salad options, and then entrees of the hot "rok" and fondue variety. We went with a shared, single-single serving fondue appetizer, which turned out to be the perfect size to share as an appetizer. The fondue is prepared at the table, and included a multi-cheese sauce, and bread and fruit to dip. The tortilla chips to dip were a distraction in my opinion, but everything else was great, and the cheese sauce was stellar. It was Wednesday, and we learned it was half price on bottles of wine, which caused us to pause as one of us drinks white wine and the other red wine. We ended up with a nice Cabernet. We each had a glass and I a half more, and then Steve prepared the bottle for legal travel home. Our entrees arrived cooking on hot lava "roks" as they are called, each heated to 900 degrees. My guest had shrimp and scallops, with rice and green beans: the shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection on the rok, and the rice and green beans were on the side. I had the duck breast, which was cooked to rare, sliced by the server, and then finished to a nice medium rare on the rok. My sides were smashed potatoes and green beans. The duck was perfect - tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The potatoes were good. The green beans were cooked with bacon, but the bacon had sort of a "pre-cooked" bacon taste and texture. Suggestion to the Chef - order some apply bacon, cook it crisp, and use that instead of the bacon product used on the beans...doing so will enhance the entire meal. Desserts primarily involved chocolate...great if you're a fan, not so good if not. Fortunately, Creme Brulee was available, and I ordered that. It paired great with the wine, and a nice size portion was served. The top was crispy with singed sugar, though I'd prefer mine to be singed a little bit more, to a molasses shade of brown. The inside of the creme brulee was perfectly set, creamy, and rich. A nice finish to the meal. The upstairs dinner area is open to the bar below, and I can see that creating noise on a weekend evening. On the night of our visit, someone sitting at the bar ordered a Rok dish and the smoke came right up and was pretty strong in the area where we were sitting. The bar also features a TV visible to upstairs diners. Suggestion, move the TV so that is it visible in the bar, but not from upstairs where diners are likely to not appreciate the distraction of a baseball game (even if it were the Dodgers trouncing the Giants to cinch the division title). To close out, Steve packaged our wine for legal travel home, an option available thanks to Governor Brown during his first terms in office years ago. Rok N Fondue is a nice place, and I'll definitely be back again. I struggled with 4 Vs 5 stars. I'm going for 4 stars now and will re-evaluate on my next trip over, and there will definitely be a next trip as the food was fun and very tastey.

My fiance and I went here over the previous weekend. The place has been open approximately 4 months, so still in that learning curve phase so we went in there not expecting astounding service, but were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is actually very nice/cool. The first floor is mainly occupied by the bar in the middle of the room with tables and booths ringing all sides and an opening in the ceiling over the bar that looks up to the 2nd floor which adds to overall openness and spaciousness. We sat upstairs which had tables along either side of the opening that looks down on the 1st floor and the bar, and has a separate dining room with tables in the front of the area over looking state street. I really liked everything about the lay out and style. Now onto the food. The food was good.. The fondue was tasty, good quality cheeses and the bread was fresh. I got the cajun fondue feast which included chicken, shrimp, andouille sausage, and steak. It was not fondue in a sense that you dipped the meat and side veggies in cheese, but instead you get either broth included or for an up-charge you can get coq au vin i had to look up this spelling!!) so decided to go for this. Basically you get your food raw and put it into the fondue pot for a minute or two (there is a hot plate in the middle of the table that cooks everything) and bam it is done and you eat. The veggie side are unlimited and it comes with dipping sides as well. I am on the fence with this type of cooking, on the one hand it is on the pricey side so for that price do you want to do the cooking? But on the other hand it facilitates conversation and interaction with your dining companion and keeps the dining interesting and fun, so I do not see this as necessarily as a bad thing. My fiance got the filet migon that came on a really hot lava rock, by which she had to slice it and cook it on the "rok"; it also comes with two sides. The meat was excellent and the sides were well prepared and fresh. I would say my fiance liked the cook it your self process less than I did, but I would not be surprised if more men than women would like this.. This is not a sexist comment, it is just that women like to be wined and dined, not wined, cook and dined. Just my opinion.. The reason I gave it 5 stars and not 4 is for the service. The service was absolutely awesome.. I wish I could remember her name so I could give her the recognition she deserves but I cannot.. She is a petite strawberry blonde who knows the value of service, something that is lost on a lot of people these days in all types of businesses and industries. She really made our first dining experience great and because of that I gave her more than the 20% i usually tip. All in all a nice addition to the downtown restaurant scene. One other thing I liked is that, at least on the weekend, later in the evening, they bring in a DJ in the bar area and play cool music. The crowd is more my age 30-50 range so the younger idiots that go to the other bars in the area stay away, so it is a better vibe for how I like to spend during those rare times I go to a bar.. I will be back and recommend at least a one time visit..

Pretty good food. A little pricey for my taste, but I guess you are paying a premium for the experience, and the prime graded beef. We had a table for two and it felt a bit claustrophobic with all of the stuff on the table (the fondue heater, plates, drinks, a 900 degree lava rock.) I was at the one table upstairs that is against the railing. The entire meal I was concerned that I was going to bump a salt shaker over the edge and knock out the bartender below, even joking that I was surprised OSHA didn't make him wear a helmet. The server was very attentive, and patiently explained the menu choices. The music wasn't bad, but a bit louder than I like, a little hard to have a conversation at a reasonable volume. Seemed that if you requested a table in the walkway near the restroom it would be substantially quieter. Oh and try the Hillbilly margarita......it was very good.

We were invited out to this place by my wife's co worker. Reservations recommended at least it appeared that way on the Saturday we were there. It was totally fun with excellent food. The fondue thing is a kick. Almost more fun is grilling your own food on your personal "hot rok". The rok is amazingly hot and lasted the whole time I had it at the table. I had the New York steak and it was excellent. Our appetizer was the cheddar cheese and bacon mushroom cheese. They bring breads, apple chunks and veggies to dip. Dessert was also very good. A chocolate and banana fondue. The only comment that is at all negative is that the tables can get quite cluttered with dishes although the waiters do an excellent job of clearing when needed. Probably to be expected a with a fondue set up. I will definitely be back with my kids as I think they'd get a kick out of Rok n Fondue.

Great new addition to downtown redlands. Awesome bar, good happy hour specials and cocktails. Went there on a friday night and it was pretty packed. Service was great, we were seated almost right away. We ordered the ahi tartare appetizer which was excellent. My girlfriend had the lamb chop on the rok and i got the shrimp and scallops on the rok.. Each dish came with a nice variety of delicious sauces: it was like a new flavor each bite I took. I will definitely be going back in the next couple weeks for more.

Filet mignon on the rok was amazing, every bite perfect temperature putting Ruth's Chris to shame. Wife had lavender martini and ordered a second. Bacon Swiss fondue appetizer prepped before you had great consistency and went well with he bread and Granny Smith apples. We will be returning...

My husband and I came for date night and the food was delicious. We started with a cheddar cheese fondue for the appetizer and it was very good. We tried both the hot rock with the ahi tuna and then the Bourbon Street which had shrimp, chicken, steak and sausage for the fondue. Both were very good. Desert was the best! We had the chocolate peanut butter which included many delicious treats to dip. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. It was a little noisy and we could hear a mix of music from both upstairs and downstairs. I did notice a quieter sitting area closer to the bathroom. For us, this will have to be a place to visit for special occasions such as a birthday or anniversary because it is pricy. We might bring our daughter back just for the chocolate fondue!

Pretty nice place, was mostly there for drinks which were served in a timely manner. They also have a pretty good beer selection. Although I didn't order the food I did have a taste of their steak sandwich during lunch and I thought it was good enough to order the next time I am in there.

Came for dinner for 2. Superb! Came back for chocolate fondue with 2 kids. Awesome! Mark (Manager) is very gracious!! Gotta try this for ambience, food, fondue, and hospitality.

After hours of studying, we decided to come here since it was within walking distance from where we were. It was St. Patty's day and it was like a ghost town. From what the bartender said, there was a huge crowd not long before us and all of a sudden there were hardly any customers. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tartare which was pretty good along with a drink I forgot the name of which the bartender raved about that included ginger flavoring. It wasnt something I'd order again. Overall, it was O-K.

Enjoyed the cheese fondue and shrimp & scallops cooked on a rock. It's a fun place for a date.

I am actually a fan BUT only for drinks, cheese, dessert, atmosphere. The dinner entrees are a fon-don't. The good stuff first because I look forward to my little fondue outings. I really do. This place is for a fun hangout with friends in a picturesque Redlands somewhat pretentious cutie little brick walls place. It is adorable inside and I love dipping stuff in pots. Who can do this at home without chopping and cleaning up cooked on cheese or chocolate? Probably a lot of people -but I don't want to. So I come here: We have gone on bdays, a Wednesday, a Thursday, a Friday, a Saturday-they have different martini specials depending on the month, season, night I think. The lavender martini was inspired as well as the caramel apple one. Was yummy for mommy pre-Paleo days. Now I do some good red wine which they have an abundance of. I particularly like a Shiraz. They always seem to be almost out but then I get produced like a tad more than a half glass. I'll take it but why say it before everytime? It makes me wonder how they filled the glass or did they just pour me a paltry sized glass because it was all that was left? Just don't tell me. Pretentious places will serve me three swigs at $14 a pop and I don't blink because of the pretention expectation factor. Just sayin. My favorice cheese is the swiss bacon. Sooo good. I haven't ventured out because this one is consistently good every time. Also go with the chocolate smore's spread for dessert because also consistently good. I spring for the extra fruit and veggies because I don't dip bread or junkie rice krispie, marshmallow or brownie crappy stuff. (Cheese is not quite paleo (quality and source are important), but everything in moderation if you are otherwise having a great time I say). Love the dipping experience and the tables/setup is adorbs. The bad: Entrees. Don't do it. Overpriced and unsatisfied every time. I can do overpriced. I won't do unsatisfied. Here is what I and my people have tried: Ravioli/veggie option dish (I don't think it's on the menu anymore-or maybe it was the dish of the day) Life is too short to boil your own vegetables in store bought/Swanson or maybe even Cambell's chicken broth. Put some elbow in it and make a good quality chicken broth!! And not like the boilable veggies-we're talking various bell peppers, zucchini spears and white potatoes. Oh heeeeeeeeell no. Have you ever boiled a bell pepper? I did. This memory makes me sad every time. Mind you I did boil the 3 giant (but not that big) ravioli that the meal came with first and was famished and bored after so I boiled the veggies. But more in protest to get my money's worth but I didn't eat them. Grown-a$$ woman eating boiled potatoes. I work too hard for the moulah for thissss?? Anyway this dish was a fon-don't. Ahi- $$$27: first they took the order, then they said they ran out, then they said oh we forgot we took some out of the freezer. WHYYY did this come out way after our meal super frozen in the middle. Was inedible. Had to get sent back. With this you are presented with a volcanic rock to sear your own protein that has little bowls for your two sides. Not sure what happens from kitchen to table, but the sides come out either microwaved nuclear, white hot hot or cold. The basil infused risotto was good though. Flavorful but you are spending too much to have to sear your frozen ahi for a good but searing hot or cold risotto. Filet Mignon-How can you enjoy a great cut of meat while trying to sear it on this rock that is billowing smoke in your face while virtually blinding you. You can't. My husband had to slice and play with it, all whilst wiping away his tears and waving smoke away. He overcooked and settled with medium because he passed the medium rare phase in the chaos. Same with the cajun chicken-came out very dry and tough. I learned from my first visit about the entrees. The ones who don't take my advice, totally regret shelling out their money for entrees. Again it's not the money-it's principality. You know what I mean. The rest of us make up for it in drinks, cheese and chocolate! Will continue to frequent because I do enjoy these aspects out of my visits. Oh-service. Pretty good. Sometimes the hostesses just stare at us at the door instead of greeting like they are surprised you showed up. We have also walked up where they are just all talking. To each other. And we have to just seat ourselves. That can happen anywhere though and especially here because of the casual feel when you walk in the door because of the bar right in front of you at the entrance. The servers are talkers. They like their job. They have to pour stuff from bowls in your pot and they like it -I mean it looks fun to make, I know I would like it-which makes you like them. Oh yeah-the salads are darn good! Try the State Street. Or the Caprese-yum. The Spinach Mushroom also fab.

Went in with some friends. Made a reservation. Seating was prompt. A+ Was seated in the busy corridor to the bathroom and kitchen. D- Booth was clean, but seats were seriously uncomfortable. C Server was pleasent and friendly. Very helpful and prompt. A+ Drinks were suggested, recomendations were helpful. They were good too! A+ Suggested appetizer was excellent, and fun. Again, server was stellar! A+ Main course. Had the surf and turf. Filet was not even close to tender. Very tough cuts seemed more like sirloin or even chuck. Had gristle in most of the pieces. The shrimp and scallops were fine. I would recommend that this not be served with the Coq au Vin. A nice tender filet would be more suited to the hot rock. Veggies were a little plain. Broccoli, cauliflower, and potatoes that take 20min to cook! For $25+ would of liked to see baby onions, asparagus, and maybe gnocchi. Something just a bit more exotic than Birdseye bag o' veggies. C- Wanted to try dessert, but maybe next time. I know this place is still evolving so I will try again another time. I would like to stress that our service experience was applaudable. No improvement necesarry there! The music/DJ was a bit loud for a conversational meal, but the atmosphere and vibe was cool. I would suggest that the seating near the kitchen/bathroom be removed or reserved for the most obnoxious customers! LOL! Looking forward to seeing this place do well. Cheers!

We have never had a restaurant experience this bad. We went in on a sunday, it didn't seem that busy, but the dining room upstairs had more diners. We were having dinner with our two sons and another couple. When we walked in one of the owners held the door open and said, "Welcome to Rok-n-Fondue". Spend lots of money. We waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by the hostess. 10 minutes later we were seated in a nook behind the bar at a table that the servers couldn't really reach the fondue pots very well. After waiting another 10 minutes for the server to come (she wasn't cheerful or friendly) take our drink order we had to wait AGAIN for our drinks. My friend went up to ask about the drinks at the bar. The other owner overheard and promised to get them out right away. Someone brought out my husband's drink but it was wrong. He had ordered a double captain and coke. He got a full tumbler of Meyers dark rum on the rocks. Still waiting for my friend's glass of wine and my son's ice tea. The owner had switched our server at this point because "they were really busy upstairs" and the bartender is now supposedly taking care of us. He comes over to take our appetizer order and argues with us about the drink. He says that's how they have to ring in doubles because they don't have a modify key. He said one minute that he poured it, but when we say its not Captain Morgan he blames one of the other "helpers". He agreed to remake it and after asking about the wine and ice tea he sends over the wine. He brings another giant tumbler of captain on the rocks with no coke in it. He said we should have asked for a tall. At any other bar a double captain and coke means two shots of captain and fill with coke. He brought a tall glass filled halfway with coke to pour the liquor into. Still no ice tea. Reminded him again and it finally came out another 10 minutes later. We ordered spinach artichoke and mushroom bacon Swiss fondues. The apples were brown and the vegetables and bread were dried out. We finally get to order our entrees and then... You guessed it waited again... For an hour. If you have had fondue before you know that they bring raw food for you to cook yourself. My husband asked to speak to the owner again. He was trying to understand why we had been waiting an hour for raw meat to come out with no explanation or a heads up. She told us she would check the time stamp on our order and that they had two large parties upstairs ahead of us. We were then asked if we had made reservations. I have never been to any restaurant where reserved tables were treated better than walk-ins. She would not look us in the eye, and said that she had already apologized to us three times (she hadn't said I'm sorry once!) and that we had been given our own server (but we saw him taking orders at other tables on our way to the restroom). Her total lack of caring and overall inconsideration was frustrating my husband who may have raised his voice a little -still trying to understand where the breakdown was. Whether they were understaffed, poorly trained or just having a busy night. She didn't want to make us happy, she told us to leave her restaurant and turned off the burners. My family has owned a business on state street for over 30 years. I have never been treated so poorly in town and will never be back. If you want you want fondue there are other restaurants that have their act together and know how to treat their customers.

Fun, good food, good service. Nice addition to downtown Redlands.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. We got seated next to one of the big windows on the second floor overlooking State St. and got exceptional service for the entirety of our stay. We started with the "Zesty Cheddar" fondue, which was a lot of fun and the perfect appetizer for our group of four. My buddy and I each got the Cab Sirloin on the Rok and our girlfriends got "The Vegetarian." The quality of the steak was great and using the Rok to cook it was way easier than I was expecting. I really liked that I could cook my steak exactly how I wanted, and the sides were exceptional. They had a bunch of sauces that we could mix and match on each cut of our steak and they were all delicious. After dinner we hung out at the bar where they have some awesome cocktails. I recommend the "Southeastern Mule" if you are dropping in on a summer day. Overall it was a great place on par with some of my favorite LA restaurants. The aesthetic is great, the food was delicious and the servers were friendly and attentive. Next time I am in Redlands I am definitely coming back, even if it is just for a cocktail and some fondue.

This was the first time I ever went to a restaurant of this type. It was fun, service was excellent. All food from appetizer, main meal with sides and dessert was delicious!!!! I will definitely return. Recommend this restaurant highly.

This place has a really great product but the service is sub par and really ruins the experience. I've been there three times, once to eat dinner and the other for drinks/dessert at the bar. The food is very good but it took such a long time to get drinks. Both times at the bar I have had the same bartender who leaves the bar for extended periods leaving you thirsty. He also continuously was complaining about his job and was trying to discourage my friend and I from ordering separate desserts because it takes up too much space. Um, we were the only people at the bar!?! They make delicious martinis but need to teach the staff to actually serve the customers instead of making them feel like a nuisance.

Went here with some co-workers after work for some drinks and fondue. The place itself is really, really cute. Loved how the building is and the character it brings! We ordered a couple margaritas- which were really good! We got the Irish cheese fondue, as well as the peanut butter chocolate fondue. Both were awesome- and we literally were joking that we wanted to lick the fondue pot! Our server was great, but the service was pretty slow.... We could tell there were a few kinks that needed to be worked out still. My only complaint was that, we hardly got any dippers! for 3 people paying $9 per person, we literally got about 3 apple slices, 3 cubes of bread, and ONE baby carrot, ONE celery stick, and ONE cauliflower bunch PER PERSON... seemed a little skimpy to me. Also, wished they had some happy hour specials, too! With 3 people, it ended up being over $100 without tip. I think next time, we will end up at Las Fuentes, where the margaritas are twice as big & half the price!

Made special reservations for a birthday dinner for my husband. Made sure to call well in advance and made sure I understood I wanted a table in the loft area by the window. We arrived over 1 hour early.. made sure they knew who we were sat at the bar had drinks and visited with our friends.. well an 1/2 hour past or reservation time came and went(we had now been there 1.5 hours) We started really getting upset.. asking why it was taking so long etc.. I guess the table they had reserved for us had a party sitting there now for over 4.5 hours?? who does that?? I dunno a party came in about 10 minutes prior to our reservation and were seated while we were still waiting downstairs.. I even went upstairs to "see" who sits at a table for over 4 hours?? anyway we finally got another table had the meal.. cheese fondue was wonderful.. ordered the rok filet mignon..it was boring not worth it.. desert was bananas foster again, they gave no options on the dipping items.. the majority were too sweet for this combo. The kicker was honestly..that they double charged tone of our credit cards. Charged us for drinks that were suppose to be "on the house" for that LONG wait!!Once I contacted the district manager Mark I think was his name. He was WONDERFUL.. saying he would fix this problem and comp us a meal on HIM. This was especially embarrassing to us as we invited other people to dine with us . He called me back in a few days saying that this was something the owner needed to handle and she would get back to us.. well I had to call days later and she was rude and very defensive. never really taking responsibility for HER restaurants error.. regardless when a customer spends OVER 350 bucks (party of 4,food and bar) MAKE THEM HAPPY!! Besides it was a birthday party:-(. We finally did get the credit after I joke NOT.. 8-10 calls.. and over a week later. If they would have just been cool , professional I would have been fine probably went back for the cheese fondue and drinks.. There are soooo many options for dine dining.. Its a shame the owners did NOT go the extra mile to fix a wrong!

Walk three doors down to Joe Greensleeves. The novelty of this place rubs off quickly. Although the meats are good, the experience and price are not worth $40 per person. They serve hot food on cold metal plates and when you order the cooking stones - they bring all of your sides out at the same time as the uncooked meat. By the time you cook it yourself your sides are cold - and then you put your warm meat on an ice cold metal plate. We will never come back and I will be sure to tell all of my friends. If you are unfortunate enough to be in the single table/room upstairs don't sit on the bench side because it was obviously not designed for someone to eat comfortably...

This is a GREAT place!! You should all go there, this has a classy feel to it but you don't need to dress classy!! It's great! I love it I'm going there again and again and again
(5)Eric D.
The menu is original and creative. Do not expect to find the traditional fondues. Our waiter was very nice and gave us some explanation of the process. Food is good and tasty. We had a Spinach and artichoke cheese fondue for appetizer. The fondue cheese with garlic and veggie broth was really good and the dippers were ok but the breads were breaking into the fondue. I had a Bourbon fondue platter with Beef, chicken and shrimps seasoned with Cajun spices and veggies such as mushrooms, potatoes or broccoli. Very good but you have to be organize with the other guests because you have only one pot. Someone had also a Filet Mignon, a Hot Rok. That's very good and tasty but you have to be wiiling to cook your meat yourself and be organize if you want to have everything ready and warm in the same time. So the food is delicious and the staff has been very nice. But be prepare to organize your meal especially if every guest is having different dishes. Those Fondues and Roks cookwares are requiring some space around and also the smell might get your clothes. We didn't have this issue. And finally the price, let say that's a little bit high, BUT the food is really good. $40 per person with 4 fondue appetizer, 1 Rok and 3 fondue platters, and 4 drinks. Add $9 for dessert fondue. They seem very good.

This place is great! The food and service were incredible. The Lavender Martini was wonderful, as was the Shrimp and Scallops cooked via the Rok. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I had dinner at Rok N Fondue last night. The atmosphere was delightful, our server, Brittney, was excellent, and the food was amazing. The whole dining experience was perfect. We started with the beer-cheddar fondue which was delicious. Our main course was the roc sirloin steak with loaded mashed potatoes, can you say heavenly, and bacon green beans. There was a variety of interesting dipping sauces. My husband did the cooking and had a great time. The steak was out of this world. We finished with the chocolate fondue. Throughout the meal, our server gave tips, encouragement, and praise. It was a very fun experience. Be sure to add this restaurant to your "To Do" list.

I am totally dissatisfied with the lack of service at rock n fondue. I called to make a reservation and was told a hostess would call to confirm. I received a call the next day and confirmed my party of 15. When I arrived there were only 2 tables set up and not enough seating. I had to wait until the woman who was selling her art to clear the 3rd table that was to accommodate my party. When we ordered it took about 20 minutes to receive our first drinks. We ordered our food and did not initially receive all that we ordered. I reminded our waiter and he returned later. It took me over an hour to receive my second drink. I walked to the bar to order it myself and the waiter said, sorry we usually have 2 bartenders and tonight only one. I thought that odd because I had seen 2 earlier and there was a promotion of it being "ladies night". I would think this establishment that has prepared for an event would have been up to staff. A family member has also had the same lack of service with this restaurant a month prior along with her fondue pot exploding onto her and her husband slightly burning her arm. All though the food was good it is pricey and so the expectation of good service should match.

they do take reservations, so that was a good thing. Made one for 8:30 on friday night, as had to get the kids down first, and get a sitter. when we got there it was just past 8:30 and they couldn't find our reservations, but then WE showed the girl our name on the list, and were told we would have to wait anyway for a table. Which only turned out was 8 minuets. but rather strange as there were a lot of open tables when sat down. It was two stories, the upstairs and downstairs. the downstairs is mostly a Bar, which we didn't want to eat on this floor, and the upstairs were only tables. it was very loud as both floors are opened up in the middle and there was also a man playing and singing on the guitar. Not ideal for conversation as the two person tables were sitting on opposites sides only not next to each other. I do recommend tying to sit in the front semi secluded areas in the top or the rear where there are a few booths if you need the noise down. The middle was too loud and too much foot traffic. The wife had a cheese fondu as the appetizer and she said it was good, but I didn't care for it as it was the smelly cheese they use, reminds me of a old sweaty shirt smell. She said they are supposed to use that kind of cheese but I would have liked to have seen a regular cheese option also. I ordered a chicken breast and the wife ordered a steak. they came out with two sides. it's not cooked, but seared and each plate had a black piece of marble on it (like a kitchen counter top) the "rok" we heated up so you can cook your meat on it. but here is the catch, you have to get working fast to get it all cut up and on there before you burn it and don't forget to turn it over!! we focussed on getting the meat all ready that our sides were completely cold before we even got to them. but were were able to use the rok to reheat the green beans at least. there was some sauces that came with the food also. we also tried the banana fosters white chocolate dessert, which was good and came with a good selection of dippers. make sure to tell the people to turn on the air as it can get rather smokey in there with all of the charing roks, so much as that it appeared to be hazy in side. here is how I rate it. Food - 8 service - 8 atmosphere - 6.5 would I go back? - yes
(4)M C.
My husband took me here for dinner.loved it!!! Everything was delicious.service was awesome. The owner even came and asked how everything was.can not wait to go back
(5)Kar-Wai Y.
Service is friendly but slow, 45 mins from sitting down to rok entrees arriving. You cook the entrees yourself. The ahi ($26) and vegetarian ($14) choices are difficult to cook well at the table, as the roks are very hot and the dry heat makes the veges prone to burning and the ahi either was uncooked or had a tough texture. The veges and ahi are not marinated and the sauce cannot be added onto the rok. (We ended up with a lot of smoke). The teriyaki, sweet chili, and ginger plum sauces were ok, but rather salty. The mashed potato and rice sides kinda reminded us of cafeteria food. Having good entrees at this place is obviously partially dependent on how good you are at cooking via this medium, so maybe others will have better luck. Or maybe the other meats or fondue are better. Really wanted to like this place, but especially for the price, I was very disappointed.
(2)Diane C.
First things first. The food was delicious. But the wait was long - 15 minutes past our reservation time, and this place is far too gimmicky. Very expensive considering you have to pretty much cook your own food. The Rok part is a 800 degree (supposedly) volcanic stone with your food on it. (That sounds like an industrial accident waiting to happen to me.) They get it started, bring it to your table, and you have to flip the meat or scallops and shrimp in my case to your likeness. Now my husband thought this was great as he likes his food really hot so he could cut off pieces of steak and make sure they were piping hot. I would have preferred a plate served with ready to eat food myself. If I wanted to sear my own scallops I could have done it at home. We wanted to try the dessert fondue after dinner but were not allowed to share one order. Interestingly I saw another couple sharing a steak (only had one volcanic stone at that table), but we were not allowed to order just one $9 fruit and chocolate fondue, so we passed. I couldn't see spending another $18 to cook more of my dinner tonight. Will probably go back if my husband insists. But I think I would prefer to buy him his own volcanic stone so he can eat hot steak at home :)

Awesome place located on Redlands Downtown Historic State Street. A friend took me to have drinks & dinner. I had an outstanding meal. Try the Banana Martini. I'll be returning......Take time to window shop along State Street after your meal.

We were quite excited to try this new restaurant in Redlands! Fun atmosphere, amazing building and location and novel approach to dining. The food was very tasty and entertaining and the they had a full bar with an interesting menu. The only reason they did not receive 5 stars was due to service. Our server was courteous, but wasn't as attentive as we would have liked. Also, she didn't explain that once the burners at our table were activated, they would steam/smoke. When this began, there were no employees around to ask so we had to try to figure it out on our on. A little intimidating! When our server returned we told her and she said "yes, that's normal." It would have been nice to be told that ahead of time. Other than that, it was a great meal in a great place and we will certainly be going back. Looking forward to adding a 5 star review then!
(4)LeAnne E.
First we walked into the place and we were lead up to tables. Our waiter waS Joshua. He knew more about the food then I think we did. The food was amazing!! Josh was the best waiter ever.. The desert was heaven.. Thanks !!

Rok N Fondue gets four stars due to the fun hot rock that sits in front of your meat-aroma-tranced face. The only other Fondue spot I have experienced is Melting Pot, and RoK N Fondue blows it out of the gooey magma. The cheese Fondue is mixed table side with a shredded combination of artery clogging fancy cheeses, sodium rich bacon, and a bodacious smelling broth. Dip bread, apples, faces, and bloated fingers in this crafted dish. The flavor combinations have been carefully selected and in my damn opinion--perfected. We started with the fondue then had the Rok experience for our entree. Basically it's a hot ol' rock that you cook your protein on. That process is a bit showy, but actually helps keep your meat hot throughout your meal, that's what she said. Our Entree came with these little sauces that were just as good as the Fondue concoction we started with. Try all the sauces, don't be a beach. The side dishes are awesome and compliment your meal well. Overall this place is pricey, but a gastronomical experience none-the-less. Think of it as dinner and a show. Drink moonshine and cook meat on a rock.
(4)Nicholas Q.
You ready to rok? So much fun. I went for my birthday and have never done fondue before. The food was great and service was on point ! Then bringing out the 900 degree rok adding another element of this experience was mind blowing. Cooking my own steak and lobster tail ? Fun! And if you go! Get the green beans they are untouchable ! Delicious perfect for family events and a great first date if you ask me !
(4)Mrs. F.
Food is good but overpriced and the restaurant itself is nice but our server sucked big balls. She was awful. When we first walked in I asked about specials, she said there where none. An hour later, a group of girls came in and she told them about the special!?! Also if we ordered double portions, I'd hate to see the single serving. Our waitress was just rude and slow.
(2)Jenny C.
Everything was awesome! Our first fondue experience so we were apprehensive, but our server was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations! We were there on Tini Tuesday so half price martinis. They were delicious as well. Oreo flavored marshmallows are bomb, best part of the dessert and I highly recommend ordering those. It's not a whole lot of food but very flavorful and satisfying. Great dining experience.
(5)Candice V.
Dean works here. Flashback city. The basil bond is totes delish. It tastes like a patio garden in Portland. Fresh.
(5)Marleisha R.
From the moment you walk in the ambience is amazing, very romantic feel. Then it hits you the food. We ordered the filet mignon and the Cajun chicken both which are cooked on a rock. All we can say is OMG. Every bite was better than the first. You also are given an array of sauces and everyone of them are tasty. My favorites are the chimmichurri, and the sweet chili wasabi. Yesssssssssss. It's a delicious treat right in the Inland empire.
(5)Haylee L.
Do not sit in the bar area. The bar tender is horrible. We sat for about 20 mins before leaving because we were ignored. No thanks.
(1)Fredericka W.
Very inexpensive for the quality of the food and atmosphere. Service is excellent and the staff is charming. I'd recommend giving yourself some time to enjoy the place.
(5)Ryan H.
A fun and different dining experience. We enjoyed the charm of the old building and the unique architecture. Very cool bar area downstairs and dining room upstairs. We started with a traditional cheese fondue as the appetizer and both really enjoyed it. It comes with bread cubes, apples and an assortment of vegetables. The cheese was the perfect consistency and the taste was great. The rok cooking concept is really cool and quite different. My girlfriend opted for the vegetarian option which consists of an assortment of vegetables including peppers, squash and mushrooms. I opted for the New York Filet and both were delicious. The rok plate comes to your table sizzling hot and the addition of the flavored butters, garlic butter for the gf and merlot butter for me results a really delicious taste and smell. My filet was cooked medium rare in just over a minute. We tried the mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables for our sides and both were cooked well and delicious. We were too full to order dessert, but they offer a selection of delicious sounding chocolate fondues. Additionally, they have a great bar with lots of great drink options. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area as its a unique dining experience and a lot of fun.
(4)Dan N.
Really cool hipster style bar in redlands! Food is OK, IMO. I'm not a fan of cooking my steak on a hot rock but I think the concept is unique and it's a fun dining experience. The fondue is also ok but again you're going there to have fun. The service is very friendly and attentive. Decor is awesome, very industrial chic. I'd recommend hanging out down at the bar and trying their moonshine! All in all this place is worth hanging out and grabbing some apps. I'd probably wouldn't go here for dinner but it's worth checking out at least once.
(4)Chloe M.
The live music here makes for a very fun experience. The dessert fondue is my favorite thing on the menu by far. Service is always exceptional, it's a must try!
(4)Monica S.
If you want a 5 star dinner with quality staff please come here and ask for Josh as a server. He is top notch and takes your dinner experience to another level.
(5)Carlton M.
Joshua n Cody were awesome. Food was excellent will definitely become a regular. Had the spinach n artichoke fondue then the Bacon mushroom fondue followed by the filet mignon. Lets just say I can die a Happy man
(5)Judy E.
Had a great experience!! The servers were helpful and very nice. The steaks were pretty tasty, as well as the delicious spinach and artichoke fondue. If you come on a Tuesday martini's are half off and the lavender martini is to die for. This is definitely a spot to try with girlfriends or a date. Enjoy!!
(5)Jess B.
I have been to this place a few times and I absolutely love it. I love going to interactive restaurants because it's fun and the food is always amazing. The service is good for the most part. There have been times when we didn't have up to par service and the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. We spend a lot of money here and have high expectations I guess. I do recommend trying out this place for sure!!
(4)Magda R.
Went as a party of eight. We went for it with all courses. Except for the cheese and dessert fondue, it was not like the Melting Pot, they do not give you dip and pots of oil to fry your meats. It was quite different, but in a good way Cheese fondue choices had something for everyone and were amazing. A lot of cheese, not enough bread. But you can ask for more. The main course (chicken, meat or seafood is served on a "rock" It's a hot block that your partially cooked meat is served on, sizzling and ready for you to cook to your liking. And the dessert! Oh! The desert!! Chocolate choices where good quality chocolate is melted fondue style, but not too many things to dip into it. We ended up using our spoons! Great, new and unique restaurant that will hopefully stand out and stick around! But bring your wallet full!
(5)Megan G.
Main reason why I'm not giving this place more stars is because it's pretty darn pricey for food that you cook yourself. My boyfriend and I spent $85 dollars here tonight (that's final amount with tip included), and that's with us sharing an entree. We did have 2 drinks each, but still without any drinks it would have been around $60 for just one entree and a cheese fondue appetizer. Don't eat here if you're on a budget or if you're looking for a quick meal. We started off with the teriyaki steak fondue entree. The teriyaki was sooo good. It takes quite a while to eat though because each piece takes about 2 minutes to cook and they only give you 2 sticks each to cook it with. The meal comes with some vegetables too that you can cook and eat but not a whole lot and not a good variety. They gave us some sauces for the teriyaki which were all good. Seriously that was probably the best teriyaki I've ever had. We were still hungry and decided to get the cheddar fondue. They charge per person for the cheese fondue, which is $9 dollars each. The fondue was good and they gave a better variety of stuff to dip in it: 2 types of bread, apples and veggies. The drinks we both had were all really good. I would definitely just come here for drinks. I had the lavender martini (which was only $5 during happy hour) and the Jack and the Beanstalk, which was Jack Daniels and mint syrup...and something else that I forgot.. Service was very friendly but very slow. Drinks took a long time to come out as well as our food. Be prepared to spend at least a couple hours here since you are cooking your own food and the service is a bit slow. Plus most of the tables only have one small stove to cook the food on. If your party has less than 5 people, you're definitely going to be at a table with only one stove...definitely complicates things if you're with a couple friends who order something different. I'm surprised they wouldn't have more tables that have more than one stove on them. I would come here again, not all the time because of the price. Hopefully they speed up the service a bit though.
(3)David N.
This restaurant is so good I don't wanna eat anywhere else. I could go on for a very long time about the quality of their food, cocktails, and atmosphere but I hope you'll just take my word for it. And a hat tip to the bartender/server Josh for his knowledge and unparalleled service
(5)Tiffiny H.
I finally got to visit this restaurant a few weeks ago. Some friends and I enjoyed our food, drinks, dessert, and service. A nice environment with the live jazz band and low lighting. It is a great start to a fun night... and let's be honest, who doesn't like dipping stuff in cheese?!
(4)Kelly M.
Love this place every time we come. Finally had the filet cooked on the rock and it was amazing.
(5)Greg P.
I am going to rave about this place, but in the interest of full disclosure I have to relate the following. My wife and daughter and I wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner and the girls picked this place. As he was taking our order, the waiter asked if it was a special occasion. We explained that it was our last dinner before our daughter went back to Afghanistan the next day. At the end of the meal the waiter and the owner came to the table and explained that our daughter's meal as well as the dessert was on the house, a significant reduction on the bill. They then gave her a thank you card signed by all the employees in the restaurant. Wow!. My daughter was very moved, she doesn't get that kind of reaction very often. Now about the dining experience: it was great. The food was fresh and very good. I had thought the "Rok" in the name meant loud rock music. I was wrong, the music was subdued and very nice jazz, followed by some mellow live music. Yes folks, you can actually have a conversation! The rock is actually a red hot stone served with your choice of meat which cooks the meat to your liking. I had that and the girls had fondue. My wife really liked the lavender martini and they had a good craft beer selection (one suggestion, I know that IPAs are all the rage, but a good pilsner and a malty amber ale would round out the selection a little better). We all left full and satisfied. The place is not cheap, but it is a unique restaurant experience that would be perfect for a special date or a group celebration. A great addition to Redlands growing collection of excellent restaurants. Thank you to the owner for the kindness shown to my daughter.

We came in for my wife's birthday and it was our first time having fondue, we ordered the rok n cheddar, I noticed the server adding alot of garlic to the sauce, it was way to garlicky. ... is it supposed to taste that strong with garlic? It's been about 2 hrs since we left and I still taste the garlic in my mouth after brushing my teeth! We did not enjoy it and also did not finish it after a few stale chips. This place is gross and expensive. Why would you have the "waitress" cook the food? She's NOT a chef obviously! I'm pissed I wasted $40 in this place! We left the rest of the food on the table and had to go to another restaurant to fulfill our appetite.
(1)Garrett L.
Attentive and friendly staff, aesthetically appealing atmosphere, diverse menu and delicious fare. What else could you ask for? The server was patient and answered all of our questions (this was our first experience here). The menu had plenty of choices to satisfy the pallets of my group and me. The food was pleasantly arranged. The broth was delicious, and the appetizer and main course were amazing. I've never enjoyed fondue as much as I did here. I'm definitely planning on introducing friends and colleagues to this establishment, and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The Deserts are Delicious ! HIGHLY recommend the cookies n cream fondue!!
(5)Meghan K.
The food was alright. We ordered both a cheese fondue and the fondue feast. Hoping they change up some of the items used to dip in the cheese fondue since they were still in their experimental phase. Would be neat to have some cooked items to dip- maybe toast the bread a little or add a more interesting variety of veggies. Although the staff was very friendly, the service was a bit awful. Ill give it to them though since I know they are still smoothing things out. Hoping it will pick up since its nice to have a new place to go downtown. Ambience was great for a night out, but have to say we had a hard time getting over the smell that clung to everything that we were wearing...

Great new alternative for Redlands fondue and rock cooking, fun night out.

There is not enough words to say how amazing this place is! My husband and I have been there twice and the third time was with are kids and there boyfriends and girlfriends. Each time has gotten better and better! Not only is the place the trendy style Redlands is becoming, but it holds onto the classic, old Redlands that's from my husbands family from the early 1900's that we love! It's a great mix of 21st century technology meets early 20th century antique! So downtown Redlands! It's not just dinner that you have, it's dining! Roc N Fondue brings back the dining experience! What meantime use to be. The restaurant brings back the time when we use to enjoy our meal and each other with time between courses and time to have conversations! Not the rushes meals of other restaurants that want to feed you then boot you out to get another check! And the service is amazing! Since my kids hadn't been there the third time we came, the waiter took his time to help show my kids not only how everything works, but he actually stood there for way longer the waiters would at any other restaurant, and helped cook their food!!! Bottom line...amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and amazing service!
(5)Pat C.
Me and the wife decided on doing a spontaneous night and ended up here. So weve never done fondue and the waiter Tervor was very helpful in explaining everything the food was super delicious and to top it off it was moonshine monday...4 dollar moonshine. Try the blackberry mule
(5)Stacy M.
It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We had a very enjoyable dinner, it's a fun place and the food is amazing. We will be back.
(4)Angela D.
Way too expensive for what you get. If you want to pay over $20 to boil your own basic vegetables in broth, go ahead. We were told they were out of ahi (early on a Friday), but then "found one" only to be presented still frozen in the middle. Drinks were overpriced and WEAK!!The only thing worth getting is off the dessert menu.
(2)Christina E.
Good food and an interesting atmosphere. Our service was friendly but really slow considering how quickly pots were finished. There wasn't enough items for dipping. Might have been more enjoyable if I planned three hours for dinner to be complete.
(3)Aili A.
The fondue/hot-rock-restaurant idea is a nice concept, but that's about it. It takes FOREVER for the "endless" potatoes to cook in the fondue pot. Do yourself a favor & skip the fondue...unless it's one of the cheese fondues or desserts. Go for the hot "rok" instead for your entree if you insist on having your dinner here. The sides are already cooked, so once your protein is ready, you can begin eating right away. The dipping sauces are decent, but the sides are mediocre at best. We experienced hot-rock cooking on a Silversea cruise ship; that was an amazing experience! Well-trained servers sliced up the filet mignon with a properly sharpened knife so the slices could be cooked to a perfect medium rare. At this Redlands joint, however, your server (who likely has no real cooking experience) proceeds to macerate your filet while it's on the rock "so it can cook through." Who wants a filet mignon that looks like some dog chewed it up for their entree?! Additionally, the servers are aloof college kids who are not usually visible and whose attitudes are along the lines of 'reluctant service but totally expect to be tipped'. Bottom line: the novelty of the place is something to experience for appetizers and desserts but definitely not a nice dinner. I recommend a Silversea cruise instead if you want a truly enjoyable experience cooking on a hot rock properly.

Just had dinner here and have never taken the time to write a review before but felt the need this time. Our experience here was excellent from the initial hostess to our outstanding waiter Josh Hampton. Josh was probably one of the best waiters we have had in a long time. From his recommendations on food to the amount to order for our party. The food was excellent I was a little skeptical at first because we had just eaten at the Melting Pot a month earlier and was very disappointed but on recommendations we decided to give it a shot and so glad we did. If you are a foodie you can't go wrong. Will definitely go again and if you decided to go ask for Josh and you definitely won't be disappointed
(5)Antonio B.
Great place n nice atmosphere... Music was great. Had a rok entre which was cool! Fun interactive good n the drinks were great as well.. Our waiter Josh was amazing. Only bad thing was it was a bit pricey, but yelp let's you know that!
(4)Jill R.
Fun place to have something different. I recommend going for happy hour (everyday 4-6pm in the bar area) & the cheese & chocolate fondues. Tuesdays the martinis are half off, so they are only $4-5.50. The basil bond & pear flower are really good martinis. They've done a great job with the decor & ambiance. Another Redlands gem.
(4)Amir R.
Waste of time and money!!! The cheese was horrible, the chocolate was horrible, the walnut smelt like it was from last year, the bread was so cold and old it tasted like it just came out of refrigerator. Despite the good wine we had there I do not recommend this place at all.
(1)Kel P.
Hmmm first impression not so good! I'll let you know what happens .... I need to come back when I have more time Sat for 15 minutes & nothing, things move really slow here Only had a salad it was ok "the wedge" daughter had the Caprese and it was really good so until next time ....

After struggling to find a place to eat and hang out, we finally came across Rok n Fondue as advised by a local bouncer. I was a bit skeptical at first as there weren't many places being recommended top of mind especially after visiting another place based on good online reviews and leaving 5 minutes later. We arrived at Rok n Fondue and were greeted immediately by a friendly hostess. The kitchen was close to closing, but they insisted we come in. So we did. The bartender, Steve, was a great host. We ordered our drinks and were given recommendations on what to eat. We ordered the raised duck and pork tenderloin on the 900 degree rok, w rice, mash potatoes, and mixed veggies on the side. This was our first time experiencing cooking our own food at our seats, and Steve was great at explaining and demonstrating how to do it best. All I have to say is the food was fantastic. It came with 8 different sauces so every bite was different. Loved the atmosphere and decor in this restaurant. Jazz music being played in the background was soothing. This place was just a very comfortable place to be in. After finishing up, we were unsure where to head to next (again after searching online and asking random people, there wasn't a clear place to go). Steve gave us a great recommendation, a local bar/pub that was not mentioned by anyone else. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent meal, solid service, and a great atmosphere to dine in..
(5)N F.
Everything about this place is amazing, everything except the ventilation. You will definitely be leaving this place smelling like meat. But other than that, I love the drink selection and their bar, this is actually one of my favorite places to go for a drink. And all the cheese fondues, so good!!
(5)Michelle W.
5 stars because I'm all about customer service and our waiter was on top of it. We were seated in a private room that held 11 of us. We had a hard time deciding but josh helped us with all of our questions. We chose the cheese fondue appetizer to start. He mixed bacon jalapeño and cheddar cheese. The dippers that went with it were a small variety of vegetables, bread and apples. Then for the entry I chose the pork to cook on the rok. They bring out a 800° stone to cook the meat on, the other option is the fondue where you boil the meat of choice. There's a variety of sauces to season which add a nice zest to the food. Our group also went with the chicken, ahi and steak which all 3 were absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back, just in a smaller group.
(5)Traci M.
The food and drinks here are delicious, however the service we had was not great. Jennifer seemed like she really didn't care to be working there. It took her quite a long time to come greet us and get our drink order and after our first round came out we didn't see her again until our food arrived. Just a little disappointed because I have been here other times and the other servers are wonderful. Hopefully next time will be a better experience.
(4)Tawni N.
This is a fun and great place to eat...I highly recommend it if you are looking for a different and nice place to spend girls night out!
(5)Denise D.
My family reserved the big party room on the second floor for my Aunt's 50th bday back in early Sept. The whole setup for this place is actually really cool since it is located in an old school building in the historic downtown Redlands area. The red brick of the building really makes the ambiance for this place. In regards to the food here. I would say that this was ok, there was nothing that really exciting that tantalized my taste buds, well exception of the merlot butter. We had a three course menu. Listed below was some of the things that we ordered. Appetizer: Artichoke and Spinach dip with bread pieces, veggies, and apple slices. Entree: Filet Mignon cooked on the "rok," mashed potatoes, orzo, and mixed veggies. Dessert: Chocolate fondue with fruit pieces and marshmallows. Everything was bland. This place is all about presentation, which the restaurant nailed it, but the quality of the food doesn't match up. I recall dumping the merlot butter on everything, and I am a very healthy individual and don't ever put butter on my food (unless it's a really awesome baguette). I do have to commend on their amazing service, but overall I say save your money and cook at home if your looking for a good steak and potato meal, or even a fondue meal.
(2)Dana G.
A fun restaurant, great for socializing while dining. Really enjoy their spinach artichoke fondue and the chocolate peanut butter fondue. Save room for dessert! Friendly staff as well.
(4)Mindi C.
Loved it. Definitely a great experience. I got a bit confused with timing my meats and making sure they were cooked. But everything tasted amazing. Will definitely go again for the cheese and deserts, they are just easier, no effort. YUMMY!!!!!
(5)Ian S.
It's always great to discover a new, stylish, eating option in town, and Rok N Fondue certainly delivers. The classy decor and exposed brick makes it a cozy place to sit around the fairly large bar. Although there's seating on both floors, I think the second floor is the better option. There are both booths and regular tables, and I'm surprised how far back the seating goes upstairs. The fondue options are great, especially if--like me--you're not the world's largest fan of too much melted cheese. We enjoyed the "Bourbon Street" with a nice mix of shrimp, chicken, sirloin, and andouille sausage. It was pleasantly salty, which brought out the flavor of the steak and shrimp perfectly. I also ordered the New York Filet to cook on the volcanic rock, and I found that to be a fun experience. I'll be back... next time to try the dessert fondue!
(5)Tasha C.
STEVE! Thank you so much for the great experience. Great service, good food- we got the zesty cheddar, chicken breast and the bananas foster for dessert. The cheese was amazing as well as the chicken. I've had better bananas foster fondue; I'd definitely try a different one next time. We we're there for almost an hour after closing yet steve didn't rush us at all, thank you again! It was the perfect ending to my birthday.
(5)Alisha T.
My favorite place in Redlands!! Amazing waiter! It was our first time there and went over the menu for us and even told us I items that weren't on the menu anymore but he could still make! We will definitely be coming back again and again!
(5)Cathy S.
I don't get some if the negative reviews because our experience was just so amazing. We started with the zesty cheese fondu and it was so flavorful and right amount of heat and it set the tone for the rest if our meal. We chose the fondu entree cooked in the vegetable broth. The filet was tender and juicy, the chicken turned out soft and tender, the shrimp were perfect. It was an experience not just a meal. Our waiter was just the best. He showed us how to cook the proteins and we were taken very good care of during the whole meal. The dipping sauces fabulous! Seriously though if your going on a Friday or Saturday evening make a reservation because they get packed. The whole experience was about 2 hours and worth every minute of our time. The endless veggies were just an added bonus. Sit back, relax and enjoy the most unique dinner! You will not be disappointed.
(5)Jolene F.
I visited there Saturday for the first time at lunch time. The Food was amazing the staff very friendly and helpful. Took a friend that has never been and she was so happy we didn't stop for a fast meal. We will both return for sure.
(5)Nancy H.
I gave this place a very detailed "one star" review back in June that mysteriously disappeared... hmmmmm Here is the short version: Poor service Over priced Blah food If you have to cook it yourself, why not stay home? I guarantee it will taste better than eating here.
(1)Kacie P.
Cute atmosphere and great service can't be beat. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and had an amazing French 75 thanks to a super knowledgeable bartender.
(5)Trevor M.
Awesome experience overall! A friendly waitress serving wonderful food with a live performance of calm, tranquil music is the perfect way to spend a night with friends and family. On a Saturday night without reservations, seating was quick and without problem. The fairly large and diverse selection of entrées and appetizers was nearly impossible to decide from. Service was on the slower side, but with the good atmosphere and a reassuring waitress it didn't seem to matter. Lastly, the heavenly dessert of a s'more blend of fondue blew anything else in mind away. Overall, one of the best restaurants in downtown Redlands I have ever visited.
(5)Katie K.
This is a fun place to go for fondue! They have an excellent selection of cheese, meat, and dessert fondue. They provided us with sides of veggies, granny apples, bread for the cheese and brownies, strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, etc. for the dessert. A really fun place, but only for special occasions; since it's pricey :)
(5)Cheryl B.
Went there on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 to have a drink and small bite. Bartender didn't even acknowledge us. He was too busy talking to hostess about being off in a half hour someone did bring us menus and water and told us the bartender would be right there to help us. Bartender was only a few feet away and had to have heard this but just kept on ignoring us. We finally just left and as we were leaving the hostess said,"I hope you enjoyed yourselves". We were checking this place out thinking we would have a birthday dinner there. To the owner, it's the first impression that counts. One star because you can't give zero.
(1)Heidi B.
Went here Saturday night for my sisters birthday. We were upstairs in a separate room by the front. There were only 4 tables in this room but it was INCREDIBLY LOUD and very hard to hold a conversation. So if you want quieter I would suggest the tables in the back upstairs. Jake our waiter was FABULOUS. No one in our party had been there before and he was great with explaining and suggesting how and what to order. THE FOOD: The cheese was amazing. We ordered the Mushroom Bacon Swiss and it was the best thing I have had in my mouth in awhile ;) For dinner ordered the Fondue Feast which was shrimp (4), steak (4 small bite size), pork (3-4 again bite size) , chicken (maybe 4 bite size) & 2 mushroom ravioli. My husband and I shared it and went home hungry. My son had the teriyaki steak. I realize this is what we signed up for but...cooking the all the items in the pot in broth was time consuming and awkward. We had to time everything with our cell phones. We finished with s'mores fondue which was fine not great but good. The bill for my family of 4 (my daughter had a salad only) was $175 out the door no alcohol. I feel it is A LOT of $ for a little amount of food and a lot of work. I guess I should stick to places that cook your food for you :) The experience was good but a one time deal in our book. JAKE and the MUSHROOM BACON SWISS were the highlights of the night.
(3)Lars C.
There are not many fondue places in the IE. The other one of importance is the Hip Kitty 28 miles away in Claremont. I like the laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and good prices here. A meal for four with a round of drinks is half the price here compared to the hip kitty. Service was speedy and efficient. I would come back here again if I'm ever in the area.
(4)Gary S.
Overpriced... very poor value. Server pushed us to order more at every opportunity, seemed annoyed that we did not order what she suggested we order. Mediocre service at best. Weak drinks. If I go to a place that charges as much as they do.. they better well cook my damn food.
(1)Marty M.
Beautiful atmosphere wonder full bar so why the 2 stars? Rock sandwich is a bad idea. 12-15 bucks for busted up meat on a hot rock and bread that falls apart too. ..a real mess. Fondue is very small and cheese leaves you with a lot of bread vegies and apple pieces for 20 bucks. They post drink specials in the windows...I think next visit I'll stick to drinks only
(2)Jacquelyn P.
Meeeeehhhh..... Fun for a party. Fun because it's fondue. Nothing special. I had some beer-chedder cheese course which was tasty but straight-forward and the veggie grill and veggie broth was good but basic. Everything was just pleasant, but if it weren't for the atmosphere of cooking your own food, the food itself wouldn't be worth it. I was really turned off by the dessert fondue. All the little treats they bring you to dip in their various melted chocolates are pre-made. I know this because I took one look at it and knew (and asked to be sure) and yup, they're direct from their supplier. Seriously? Can't kick it up a notch and make your brownies and cakes in house? They could source from a nearby bakery! Meh, I won't be back unless someone else has a party there.
(2)Susan J.
Had heard about this place for a long time and they are only open for lunch in the week on Fridays. So a bunch of us from work came over. We were the first one's in the place, followed by another larger party. For a long time, our two parties were the only ones there. 1. Food was good. We had two different cheese fondues. I've had better because I've made it myself, but for a restaurant it was good. Then we had salad's or sandwiches. It took over an hour to get the sandwich. Well, most people during the week have a limit on lunch. We were not amused. 2. It is generally good business to bring whatever the entree is out all together, even if some are salad's or soups. The salads were out long long before the sandwiches. Long enough that everyone else had finished eating. 3. We tried 2 of the desert fondues as well. They were good to eat. One of our party was a fondue virgin but here brother is a chef so while she liked the food, she had lots of comments about the poor service. Don't think we would go again, sorry guys.

Went to market night in Redlands on a first date. We decided on Rok N Fondue. Totally packed. There was no host/hostess to take our name for a table. A little frustrating but as many patrons that there was we understood. Talked to a very busy bartender (that later advised us on cooking lobster on a 900 degree rock) and he put us in touch with Kelsea. And that's when the visit started being unforgettable.... Kelsea was phenomenal. It was our first time so she hung out and helped us with recommendations for appetizers, entrees and desert. The fondue, steak, lobster chocolate was to die for. I will say at first I was not so sure about cooking the meal myself but with a little coaching everything was fine. The owner came by the table and was so genuine, sweet and professional. She made us feel like old friends. We asked for her to let her know what a gem Chelsea is. I had a service dog but still asked if they were comfortable with him there. They loved absolutely adored him. My date loved it, I loved it. We well be back!!!! Outstanding time! We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
(5)Jesse C.
We had the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and vegetables, it made a most excellent meal portion for two with drinks and an appetizer. The steak was perfect and among the best cut I have ever had. Cooking the steak on the rock they bring out super heated made for a fun take on dinner also. The dipping sauces we a nice accompaniment and the mbiance was very clean and enjoyable. Quality service will also land this as one of our new favorite places to dine or grab a drink in Redlands.
(4)Tim G.
This was our first time here. It came highly recommended and now we understand the hype. If you are lucky enough to has Josh as your server I promise you'll not be disappointed.
(5)Sean B.
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I've had fondue in the past, and I pretty much just found it to be overrated. This place however has a lot of choices, and some really good cheeses. The Ahi tuna seared on the Rok was pretty amazing. The moonshine is good. The bloody marys are deliciously spicy. Overall this is a good place.
(4)Tiffanie J.
Rok n fondue is one of my favorite restaurants service is impeccable, food is amazing and the atmosphere and idea behind the restaurant is incomparable. We made reservations once for my dad's birthday and had 15 people and they reserved a whole room upstairs overlooking state street and it was beautiful . Another time my now Fiancè booked an proposal dinner for our families (24 people) all booked the same room, he surprised me and proposed and the waiter Josh recorded the whole thing for us! They served all of us champaign and extra strawberries! Our servers were Chad, Josh, and Jake and they were amazing on top of everything and very courteous to all of us, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone looking for a pleasant and unique dinner and atmosphere
(5)Alex J.
Pros: GREAT atmosphere. High quality grass fed meat. Great bar selection. Cons: Not enough food for what you pay. You have to cook the food yourself (something I despise but I know a lot of people like that) The meals don't come with cheese! That is in the appetizer only. Overall it ended up being a good experience. I would most definitely go back for drinks and maybe appetizers. I wouldn't say it's overpriced, (because its great food) so much as I don't think they give you enough food for what you pay. I would not go back for dinner.
(3)Cristina B.
Love love love!!! Great staff, (like Chad) who are knowledgable and fun. Food is delish and atmosphere is super cool. Live music on Friday and Saturday night adds a nice touch.
(5)Barbara S.
Fondue is a bit of a novelty, so there's something inherently fun about it and something else that makes you wonder why you're paying to dine out only to cook your own food. We've been here twice and both experiences had their ups and downs. Both cheese fondues we tried were quite good. I highly recommend the mushroom bacon swiss which we tried without the bacon and was very flavorful. However, as I read in another review, cold vegetables and green apples aren't the most exciting things to dip in hot cheese, so they may want to look into expanding their dipping repertoire. I had the veggie fondue which was good, especially the ravioli and my husband had the Rok filet mignon. This is where it got complicated because he doesn't like to cook, and although they said how many minutes to leave it on, assessing the perfect doneness of a fancy steak when you don't cook can be a challenge. He pulled his steak of the Rok when the waiter said to so as not to overcook it and sliced it up as suggested, but then it got prematurely cold. He remarked that he would have rather paid five bucks more to have it cooked properly by an actual chef, and served to him. Both times we've not had room for dessert, as the cheese is quite filling. I shared a cheese fondue and the veggie fondue with a girlfriend and we both found it to be plenty shared. Our next visit when we're up for the novelty we may just order a cheese dish and a dessert and call it a night. The ambiance is lively and cool, but the building is echoey and on live music nights, you may find yourself yelling at your companion. Definitely make a reservation, but even if you do, plan on being there for a long, leisurely meal. As stated in other reviews, they are definitely still working out the kinks in their service.
(3)Jerry B.
Tonight I had my first experience at the Rok N Fondue. It was awesome! The ambience of the restaurant was to die for. Josh Hampton was our server and is one of the greatest I have ever had. I've been in the food industry for 8 years and have to say I was very impressed with him. He prides himself on being a "foodie" a word too often misused. His knowledge of the menu was impeccable and his attitude pleasant. We ordered the ahi lettuce wraps and he graciously offered to make us his signature ponzu sauce a sauce not offered on the menu and it was delectable. The citrus soy flavor, accompanied by the subtle undertones of wasabi and red chili flakes made for the perfect blend of vinegar with a hint of spiciness. The sun dried farmaggio fondue was amazing! it's havarti/fontina cheese blend complemented with basil pesto and sun dried tomatoes made for a flavor fusion that made my taste buds come alive. We finished off our visit with the banana fosters fondue. The brownie bites dipped in the banana flembee with it's blast of cinnamon gave me what I can only describe as a "foodgasm." Let's not forget the drinks! It was thirsty Thursday and they had an epic deal on drinks! The strawberry moonshine with ginger beer was to die for! The monks Fleming sour beer had an interesting taste that made my non beer loving friend find a beer she actually likes! Thank you Josh! I will definitely be back to try one of the steaks that he describes as the best you'll ever have!

Went on a Monday night and began at the first-level bar with some wine. The bartender was friendly and when asked about the "Moonshine" he offered details about the drink. My friend and I sampled several flavors of Moonshine - my preference was the Apple-flavored one. We ordered the cheddar cheese fondue at the bar that included bread, apples and veggies. The cheese fondue was very good and sitting at the bar near the entrance we conversed with others that were regulars to this establishment. Some responded they stop by once a week for a couple of drinks and fondue at the bar. After awhile we moved upstairs to a room that over-looked State ST. The environment was pleasant and friendly. We continued with more wine and ordered the filet mignon and sea scallops & shrimp. We opted for the rock cooking instead of the fondue. I have not seen this method of cooking before therefore wanted to try it. The food was very good with the multiple dipping sauces. The pesto risotto was very tasty. We were too full to order a dessert. The experience was fun and it was a good time. I will bring my family for the Roc n Fondue experience when I return. Recommend you make reservations on weekends because from what I heard at the bar this place gets packed.
(5)Sarah B.
I like this place! Food is good it has a good vibe to it. Selection of beers is amazing and their cocktails are delish! Definitely going back :) It is pricey so bring your credit card
(4)Francine S.
Yummy yummy and great service too! We had the gruyere cheese, bacon, and mushroom fondue could have eaten two bowls it was great also peanut butter chocolate was our fav for the sweet side Main course was basic platter of chicken, shrimp, meat and veggies. Plenty of food prices on par with fondue a higher price than regular dinner but worth the "experience"

Wow, this new restaurant in Redlands is Wonderful! We have had dinner and drinks here several times and I can honestly say that everything we have tried has been excellent. I will list some of our favorites: Ahi Tuna Tartare: fresh, excellent flavor and melts in your mouth Shrimp Rok-Tail: the cocktail sauce is delish and the shrimp fresh and tender Bourbon Street Chicken: tender and a slight smoky taste that is mouth watering. Scallops: in Butter sauce - couldn't get enough, YUM! I absolutely love the salad dressing that comes on the house salad. It is obviously made with fresh herbs because it is one of the best salad dressings I have ever had. If they offered a larger salad I would order it. I like it so much that I have ordered two house salads. The greens are crisp and cold, excellent salad! We have tried several cocktails but I highly recommend the Rok N Berry Martini. A hint of berry, lemon, and pineapple make this fruity concoction a must have. My man loves the Wookie Jack Beer, a rare find! The cheese fondue with the bacon is yummy and we love the variety of bread and veggies that come with it for dipping. The service has always been excellent. Great historic location right downtown. I am so glad Rok N Fondue is here in Redlands. Looking forward to our next visit.
(5)Heather B.
Great concept, poor executuion! We've been here several times now, and although the food has been above average each time, the service has steadily declined. We went tonight craving the NY Strip on the roc. After waiting over 10 minutes without a single one of the FIVE staff behind the bar asking for our order, we left. Again. This is the second time we have left for poor service. The service upstairs tends to be a bit better than the bar, but overall it's just bad. Hopefully with a new manager the concept can excel to be all it should be.

I'm obsessed with this place. I ordered the ahi with orzo and green beans on the hot rock. Wow! Amazing. My fish was so fresh and delicious. The homemade sauces complimented the food so beautifully so of course I had to ask for seconds. I was also surprised how generous the portions were. I couldn't finish my food and was too full for dessert but that just gives me an excuse to go back to try their milk chocolate fondue. :) Definitely 5 stars on the decor as well! It's so cool. A lot of the decor looks like its from Restoration Hardware. I would go just for the atmosphere and vibe. I really hope another Rok N Fondue opens up in the Orange County area. This place is so unique and the food is awesome. What more can a girl ask for besides a ginger beer? Oh wait, they had that too. Yippie!

I was a little skeptical about trying this place even though it looks really nice from the outside. When I hear fondue, I just think chocolate and cheese. Well, there were not many options on Sunday night so I thought I would give it a shot. I am so glad I did. The whole experience was pretty amazing. The service was a little slow but it was still very friendly. Our server asked us if it was our first time there and since it was he showed me exactly what to do. I had the pork tenderloin which was really tasty. I just enjoyed the whole experience. It is on the pricier side so I doubt I can come here on a regular basis but whenever budget allows, I would come again:)

I went here this past weekend with my boyfriend and another couple. My boyfriend and I arrived a little early for the Happy Hour, which was a pretty good deal. Their house Red wine is amazing. I was able to make a reservation earlier that afternoon for a early dinner, and the hostess on the phone was very helpful. She answered all of my questions and gave me details about the Fondue experience. When the other couple we were dinning with arrived, we were seated upstairs next to the window that opened up and looked down over state street. I was really happy about our table location. The waitress told us that it does start to get Smokey in the restaurant from the Rocks and steam, so I was happy to be sitting next to the Window. I had read the reviews on Yelp and looked at the Menu online before arriving, so I could get an idea of what to expect and I was a little overwhelmed by the menu. We asked the waitress to explain the best way to go about this process and she gave us time to figure out what we wanted to do. We had the 'Irish Cheddar and Swiss Fondue' which was AMAZING.... I am already a huge fan of Fondue, but add beer, garlic and chives, I am sold. I was actually surprised how much cheese was in there, but it went pretty fast. My boyfriend and I split the Shrimp and Scallops on the 'Rok' which was really good, but expensive... although it does come with two sides, you aren't getting a lot food ( I had eaten a late lunch so I wasn't very hungry when we arrived). It was very good though. I will say this place is expensive! I think it's a great idea and it's a lot of fun, especially for a double date atmosphere, but for the four of us ($9.00/per person Fondue) and two entrees (we both split ours)... and a round of drinks it ended up being $130.00 tab. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the cost, and as a Graduate student it's on the expensive end for me, but I would definitely give it a full 5 stars for food, ambiance and experience.

Went here for dessert on Mother's Day. Nice new place. The decor and setup was cool. Bar and tables downstair,Then more tables upstairs. Seems like they are also setup for live music. We had 6 in our party and was seated right away. The place was maybe at 50% capacity. The server came right away and took our drink orders. The girls trief the caramel spple martini. The glasses csne out filled to about 75% (use to it being filled to the brim at other places) but the flavor was decent. We ended up getting the chocolate fondue package $9 per person. Choice if 2 type of chocolate fondue and dipping items. The chocolates (banana foster and some other one with nuts) was great. However, felt they skimped on the dipping items. There were two plates for 6 people. Seemed like there was 1 piece of each item per person (marshmallow, brownies, banana slices, strawberry, pound cake). The fondue was so good that we had to order more dipping items. This was my first time at a fondue place so not sure if this was typical. I would probably return and give this place another shot

Came back after their soft opening. The service is way better! The food is still fun, at both the table and the bar (except you can't do the fondue dinners at the bar). They have a bunch of moonshine options, which are surprisingly good. This is definitely a fun date place, especially if you have the budget for it.

Just went in. Rainy Thursday night in November. My boyfriend and I were the only ones there. The only ones. The bartender greeted us, and we said we'd sit at the bar. We sat, never got menus, and the bartender immediately took a phone call. He was on the phone for 5 minutes. I tried desperately to make eye contact...did the eyebrow thing, the cocked neck thing, etc. He kept talking. Sounded work related but I don't want to assume. Anyway we walked out. So, I downgraded my review. Hope the next time I come it's better bc they have some really good deals. Bummed I missed the happy hour deal. "HANG UP THE PHONE" -dumb and dumber

We went in here on Sunday after brunch at Lounge 22. Sat at the bar as usual, we drank spiced moonshine and ordered bread fondu with the artichoke cheese dip. We devoured it, so we ordered another! Great place, Doesn't look like much but the inside is very well done. I do wish the shop like entrance would be opened up for some outdoor siting or perhaps the perch like area up stairs. The music was atrocious and they accommodated. I think this place would be great if it had a real menu and the fondue as a appetizer or side, it really needs to be more than fondue in my opinion. We will be back for sure!!

Went here with a friend for a little girls night. It was pretty quiet, as we went to dinner earlier than usual. We were sat at a table upstairs, near the balcony but without a real view of State St. The decor is clean, simple, yet upscale. I really love the fact that they have exposed brick in the building- it gives the place a historical feel, like its been here forever. The waiter was training another future waiter that evening, so he took some time to describe how the process worked. Even though this was explained to me, I was surpised to see a completely raw piece of chicken served on my plate. I think the wait staff should be more thorough in explaining how invasive the process is. And, we were kind of pushed into ordering wine that I personally, didin't want, but it turned out to be a good aperitif to the meal. I ordered the lemon seasoned chicken and my firned had the another spicier version. It was good, but at the end of the meal, I felt weird paying $22 for something I could have cooked for myself for under $4 at home. That being said, they have an amazing variety of wines and delicious side dishes. It was nice to go to a place that did not rush you out, but I somehow thought the environment would be more intimate. Even though it was quite empty when we were there it began to fill up and become more noisy throughout the joint. I guess for me, this is the kind of place you take someone to if you are worried the conversation will go dry. It is quite DIY. The act of cooking your own meal will provide an added element to the dining experience, but its not really for me. I have had no real desire to return... yet.

My wife and I have been here 3 times now. Once for a full dinner and to try out the fondue, and 2 other times to just sit at the bar and have a few drinks. The meal we had was okay, but nothing to write home about. I had a chicken dish while my wife had the ahi. It wasn't bad but, considering the prices, we felt that we weren't getting a lot of bang for our buck. Nothing seemed to be very seasoned/spiced and basically tasted like something I could have made myself at home for half the cost. The bar (and the entire restaurant actually) is gorgeous, easily the nicest bar in Redlands in terms of looks, which is why it was so disappointing to get drinks that were not well balanced (way too sweet, or way too tart). And these were the drinks off their own cocktail menu! If you should have anything down, it should be your own drink specials. I was a bartender for many years and saw a lot of rookie mistakes that could have been easily avoided, from the way the bar was set up right down to the pouring/mixing. Hopefully this will get straightened out soon as it's WAY too nice of a bar to not have someone experienced behind it. If you've lived in Redlands for any length of time than you already know that despite having a plethora of bars to choose from, we still don't have a single craft bar that can hook up the classics (manhattans, old fashioneds, gimlets, sazeracs, etc.). It would be an awesome thing to see Rok N' Fondue kick their bar up several notches and answer the need. I guess time will tell.

My husband and I went here for the first time and totally loved it. The rustic decor with a sleek flare creates a relaxed atmosphere but also allows for a little more than casual attire if you like. The staff/servers were friendly, clean, and knowledgeable. My husband had a white ale that I actually liked and my Cabernet was very good. My only qualm was that my husband had to order three different beers before choosing one they had in stock. I had to ask for two different wines before choosing one in stock. Although this was not much of an inconvenience because they have a good selection. We chose the Irish Cheddar Fondue appetizer with the grilled Cajun chicken main course. Our food came out quickly and our server was personable as he created our fondue in front of us. The food was excellent, far exceeded my expectations. They give a lot of food with each order but we still ate most of it because it tasted so good. The green apples with the Irish Cheddar was a perfect pair. The chicken was seasoned with delicious, unique flavors. I was even impressed by one of the sauces they provided. I am sure we will visit Rok N Fondue often.

Such a unique concept of fondue and / or grilling on a large very hot piece of Rock right at the table. Great place for special evening with that special someone. They have local breweries beers on tap and they serve them nice and cold! Haven't had a bad meal here yet. The desert fondues aren't to be missed, so try to save a little room.
(4)Susan S.
What a unique restaurant! Food cooked on rock or fondue. Had the coq au vin broth for fondue and filet while husband did the roc filet. Delicious and fun. My only complaint is that they do not use kirsch wine in their fondue so it lacks that signature taste I remember from having fondue in Gruyere Switzerland. Advise to management---you need to change your cheese fondue recipe to be authentic---it was a let down.
(4)Jennifer A.
I went here with a few girlfriends to celebrate our college graduation. We went during Happy Hour, and got some great drinks! I got their lavendar martini special, and it was incredible! The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was better than almost any restaurant in Redlands. The server was named Autumn, and she was amazing. She was friendly, helpful, and professional, and truly made our experience.

I've had my business in the neighborhood for many years. It is the center of an ever evolving retail and dining district. What never changes is the restaurants. State street is an awesome place to come and shop, have dinner and stroll from one of several wine bars, pubs and coffee houses around the historic district. Weather permitting, street musicians line the street or perform on the stage Ed Hales Park throughout the evening. Now Lets talk about Rok N Fondue. YOU MUST GO!!! Totally hip vibe in one of the oldest buildings in Redlands. Dont be fooled by the narrow width of the restaurant, it's way deep and has a second floor. The bar is fully stocked and even has an Oak Wine Barrel that they pour from. So if you like your wine straight from the barrell it's the only place I know of outside of an actual winery to do this. The Menu-- fresh ingredients, you prepare your food on a hot rock that stays very hot and will long outlast what you cook. The aroma of searing vegetables, meats and spices competely fill the air. The music is contemporary, but not so loud that you cant have a conversation. Be sure to look up!! the ceiling and Chandeliers are a reminder of the 18th Century archtecture which has been expertly restored and maintained. If these walls could talk, they'd say thanks to the owners of Rok N Fondue for preserving the past and keeping State Street relavant and for helping Down Town Redlands keep it's hip and cool vibe. Oh yeah, get a reservation!!!!

I haven't been WOWed by a restaurant in a very long time. I came to Rok N Fondue for the first time on a Tuesday night. I was captivated by the ambiance as soon as I walked in the place...very rustic environment. From the lighting, to the furniture, to the place settings, cups, everything...very cohesive style/design. I thought it was super cool that the "UNDERTAKER" wall was actually the outside wall of a historic building in Redlands...super cool! Anyway, there were some folks at the bar and some more people at tables. The super friendly staff gave some great suggestions for food and drink...I got crankberry lemonade moonshine and it was delightful. My friends and I got the spinach and artichoke and rok n cheddar fondue for appetizers, I got the cap sirloin with a baked potato and spicy beans, and a peanut butter fondue for dessert. EVERYTHING was super delicious! I definitely recommend you check out this place.
(5)O G.
Great place. New idea for dining out. Had the cheese fondue and sirloin rok entree. Everything was delicious! Jeanette was a great server. Informative, professional and great personality. Will be going back soon.

I went to Rok N Fondue with my wife and a large group the other night. I was really looking forward to the experience, the Inland Empire is lacking in cool places to enjoy an evening. Unfortunately I don't think they have it all together yet. I'm hoping it's because they're new at this. The service was mediocre at best, although I did enjoy the building and the decor. The fondue wasn't prepared properly, it wasn't completely emulsified which made it watery and lumpy with oil floating on the top and not really warm enough. I knew there might be a problem when reading the menu; I noticed the coq au vin fondue with a description that included beef broth as the main base. If they are going to name an item coq au vin they should know what it is. Finally, I was served chicken on the hot rock that was only partially cooked. I know this is the deal, but I was told to cut up the chicken so it would cook faster. I did, contaminating my fork and knife with mostly raw chicken. I don't fear chicken as much as others, but why take the chance. They need to re-think that whole deal. I've never written one of these, however, I'm just hoping those who can make changes take notice. It could be a very cool place if they just fix the problems.
(2)Lori A.
Love this place. Yes, it is pricey but consider the time, ambiance and food. It was an enjoyable 3 hours for our group of ladies. Only wish was that it had a small burner on the table for each customer, so we can all choose our own fondues. Planning my next outing here already!
(5)Dynie S.
Excellent service from josh and the rest of the staff were friendly. Food was great too.
(5)Es L.
The ROK (heated volcanic rock) part of this restaurant is pretty AWESOME!! I'd recommend the SIRLOIN STEAK and if you don't mind sparing a few extra bucks, the New York Strip. All vegetable side dishes seem to have a theme of VERY "al dente." Caramelized carrots were sometimes crunchy and green beans just gently blanched+sauteed. On the other hand, the FONDUE part of this restaurant, in my opinion, was not that amazing. The first dish I had was the bread with cheese fondue. If the bread came out fresh and WARM, I would have enjoyed the overall fondue experience much more. But the bread was hard, cold, and dry. I tried soaking it in the cheese fondue, but it was taking too long... :( HOUSE SALAD did not get much attention... leaves were tough, too large (uncut leaves), and hard to eat. I had to wash it down with water after every few bites. I think the choice of lettuce may be the issue with that one. Overall though, it's a good place in Redlands to go for a nice, tasty, sizzling steak.
(3)E R.
We gave it another chance after about 3 months. Walked in on a Friday night... Seated immediately, great service, great food. Will keep it in rotation. Hoping prior bad experience was just a fluke.

I have wanted to try this place for a while now, and was very disappointed last night. At first entry, I have to say the place has a cool vibe, great jazz playing, and the hostess was very nice. My husband and I were taken upstairs to our table. They sat us at a table right next to stair rail ( little to weird for me), I asked to move us to different table and they did with no problem. The waiter we had was Great, but the food was Not. We ordered the cheddar jalapeño w/ bacon fondue, the caprezzi salad, lobster bisque, white chocolate fondue, my hubby had a dinner on the Rock and I had a fondue one. The Caprezzi salad and the lobster bisque are the only things I was able to eat completely. The cheddar does Not melt well, the waiter stated , yeah we know so they put a little Swiss in with cheddar (wish I would've known that from the beginning I do Not like Swiss so I would've order something different. He brought our meals which looked really cool. That was Only good thing about them. My broth was nothing but a Pool of Salt. My husband was good at first, but the longer use the rock the blacker the meat got and the weirder the meat tasted. There was so much salt and seasonings the water, it instantly made me nausea. I told the waiter and he offered me something else, but I was no longer in the mood to eat so I just asked for a cup of hot tea. We got our bill and my meal was taken off, however they did charge $3.50 for .25 cent tea bag and cup of hot water. By the time we walked outside to get into our car both my husband and I started getting sick.. Not to sure what it was about the meal that made us both Very sick. I will say I will never go back. My warning is to just be cautious, if you order a fondue dinner ask for easy salt, for the people with Nut allergies (like myself) make sure you ask what is in everything and tell them about your allergy a few times (like I had to do)..,
(1)Gino G.
First time there, a unique combination of burnt cheese residue and I don't know what. Hostess was very polite, as was the bartender. Food was mediocre at best, our server was polite as well as prompt. The New York steak was supposedly prime, not too sure about that. 3 stars at best, maybe if they offered salt or any other type of seasoning it might have been more flavorful. Bar/bartender was definitely the highlight. At least we were able to support an independent small business I guess.
(3)Sara R.
The first time I came here I was very impressed. The bartender was nice, drinks were good and the singer they had was amazing. Unfortunately the next time I came the service was awful (took 20 minutes just to get waters at our table when we sat down) and I convinced my friends to stay because I wanted them to try a certain martini they have. Of course, the waiter tells us after taking our order they were out of that martini and he suggested another martini instead, which was nowhere near as delicious. We decided to give it another go, with the same group of friends and we were treated rudely while waiting to be seated. We stood there and were ignored by the hostess and another employee while they stood there talking amongst themselves and starring at us. Finally she came by and told us the wait would be 20 minutes or longer (on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty empty) so we decided to leave and I'm not too excited to ever give them a try again.

Great food! Appetizer & dinner both better than good to full to make it to desert but we will be back!
(5)Haylee E.
I definitely have a love/hate relationship with restaurants that make you cook your own food, but I really enjoyed Rok N Fondue! I went with a group of friends on a Thursday night. The second I walked through the doors, I thought it was one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been in. The atmosphere was definitely 5 stars. They have an awesomely large bar with tons of seating. Once you get upstairs there are so many more tables, as well as a room towards the front of the restaurant for larger parties which is where we ended up sitting. One bummer about going here with a large group of people is that the tables are bolted to the ground, so they cannot maneuver them around to accommodate everyone at one large table. I'm sure they do that for safety reasons, because the stuff they put on the table is dangerously hot, and I know I wouldn't want someone to accidentally shake the table too much and have an 800 degree lava rock fall on me. Anyway, I must say that our waitress throughout the night was the absolute best! I wish I could remember her name, because she was just so sweet! She was patient with us and all of our questions. She was very information and was always there checking on us. My boyfriend and I stuck with the 'Rok' portion of the menu, where they bring out your food raw and for you to cook on an 800 degree lava rock (as previously mentioned). He had the filet, and I had the shrimp and scallops. They have a ton of different sauces and a few butters to choose from to vamp up your proteins, and they were definitely yummy. The sides were okay. I got the pesto orzo and loaded mashed potatoes. Once we were through with dinner, we moved on to my favorite part... dessert! They have a bunch of chocolate fondue options, but they had a seasonal 'pumpkin pie' option that I just had to have. Man, was it fabulous! They brought it out and heated it in the fondue pot, and even did a little flame show with it before we dug in. They provided a platter of banana slices. apple slices, strawberries, rice crispy treats, and marshmallows. The banana was my favorite to dip in the pumpkin pie mixture. The check was a little pricey. It was about $130 for my boyfriend and I, and that was with the gratuity tacked on because we were with a large party. I didn't really mind the amount, as I do feel like all in all the experience was worth it. I would definitely come here again. :)
(4)Brady P.
Nothing special, went there for a 2nd time just to have a couple beers with some friends and they put automatic gratuity on my $12 check of two beers. Ambience, Food & Service not worth the money.
(2)Richard B.
The fondue was OK, the drinks we had were great and the place looks great. The price was a tad high. As for the food, we had the zesty fondue and the selection that came with it was odd. Also the broth to cook things in was just OK. I think I will try the rock meals next time.
(3)Danny G.
Just had the cheese and salad. The bacon mushroom SWISS was really good but wish it had other stuff to dip in it. The house salad with house dressing was one the best salads ive had. The drinks were pricey and just ok. Definatly coming back for the chocolate.
(4)Jennifer D.
I have been here twice and LOVED the food. A little pricey, but there are only a few great date-style restaurants in Redlands. So save this for a special night. I just went back for my third time last week (6/2/2014) and they had a "B" rating. This is the only reason for my 4-start rating because I won't be risking my tummy on their poor food handling. I sincerely hope they correct the issues so I can go back.
(4)Robert N.
Interesting concept, but food isn't amazing for what you pay. Had the Rok New York steak. Nothing amazing or unique about it other than the hot slab of rock it was cooking on. Nice to try once, but probably won't be returning here again. If I wanted DIY dining, I would go to a KBBQ place for a much lower price. On the bright side, the staff was very helpful in explaining how to cook the food for customers who aren't familiar with the concept.
(3)Janine N.
Date night with the husband and had a wonderful culinary experience. Came early and got great service and able to hear our waiter fully explain the menu. Had the gruyere/port wine fondue appetizer with bread, veggies, and Granny Smith apples. Delightful with the the glass of Pinot as suggested by the menu. We shared the shrimp/scallops with bacon green beans Rok plate and also the chicken. Had a blast playing with our food and savoring it all. The variety dipping sauces were extra fun and delicious. Topped it off with the dark chocolate and fruit fondue. The place was packed by the time we finished and can't wait to bring family and friends to experience and enjoy as well.
(4)Stacey R.
I've now been at least 5 times. I come back because it's a nice atmosphere and I love cheese. It's a great place for date night, but there are definitely drawbacks. First, the bartenders are good. They make a great dirty martini. On the other hand, the drinks are expensive and tend toward the overly sweet. The cheese fondue is good. Someone here complained about gruyere ... it's the cheese used in Switzerland for fondue, along with emmenthal. They should consider doing an original Swiss-style fondue. The rok part of the meal is a mixed pleasure ... the portions of protein (and, in particular, ahi tuna) are very generous. The dipping sauces are all mediocre. They should take the time to prepare several very good choices ... a chimichurra (sp?) sauce would seem like a natural, but they don't have one. The sauces are all from jars and they should do better. The sides are all very large as well, but, again, mediocre flavor. Here's the thing, you're cooking meat without many of the seasonings one would like to use, so make the sides and the sauces spectacular. How about roasting some peppers? The chocolate is good. Not great, but good. Again, making something homemade for dipping or using really high quality fruit would be a way to actually add something to the mix. Now, for the major problem with this restaurant ... customer service. I've made reservations twice. I have problems with climbing stairs and many of their tables are upstairs. They have two booths that are slightly more comfortable than their chairs. So, I've made reservations for a booth. Both times I made reservations, they were not honored. The hostess at the front door is invariably rude. The waiters are usually pretty nice, but seem over-extended. Again, the bartender(s) are always great! The live entertainer is quite good.
(3)Madeline D.
A fun experience and some awesome drinks. I don't need to explain the fondue experience because it's fondue. You know what to do with that. But the "Rok" is an interesting one that I have yet to encounter at any other restaurant. The "rok" (I'm sure others have mentioned in the reviews) part of this, is a "volcanic cooking rock" that you cook your food on. I love this concept. If you're a slow eater like me and you have a problem with your food getting cold because of that, then this is perfect for you. You cook your food how you want it, and if you need to re-heat something just stick it back on the rock! I've had the shrimp and scallops and the cab. sirloin steak rok entrees.. Both delicious and both come with 3 different and unique "spreads". My favorite spread so far is the (I think) Merlot butter. Cook that with your steak and goodness just melts in your mouth. You get your choice of two sides with the entree, each is well portioned. For the (fondue) desserts, I've had the peanut butter and the S'mores. You actually get quite a few things to dip with these fondues. Some strawberries, apples, bananas, pineapples, rice krispies, pound cake, marshmallows. All good things and enough for two people. The drinks here are amazing! The Tuscan Sunrise is so far my favorite. St. Germain and red bell peppers? Who'd have thought? Great combination and flavor. We'll come here during happy hour (4-6) and I'll usually order the 5 dollar lavender martini.... Although good both times I've ordered... They were almost different drinks. The first one I had was a lavender color, very lavender tasting, and no garnish. Second one was a "muddled white" (best way I can think of describing it) color, that tasted more like vanilla but had a bunch of lavender seeds in it (still good, but a little hard to drink if you don't want to be taking in a bunch of seeds). Not sure if they're still messing around with the recipe or they just like changing it up on different days. And while their drinks are delicious, sometimes it takes forever to get them.. or to even order them. (4 stars instead of 5) I don't mind the wait too much since I'm never in a rush when I go, but for someone wanting to grab a quick drink before going out somewhere else, it might be an issue. It could be because they're still fairly new and working out the kinks, so I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. I see people complain about the price vs. quantity, but for restaurants like this you're paying for the QUALITY of the food and the EXPERIENCE. Yes, you're cooking the food yourselves, and maybe it's just me, but I like that aspect and I don't see why that factors into the cost. When I go out to another restaurant I don't think " $28.00 for a steak? Oh, but they're going to cook it for me, so I'll excuse the price". Maybe some people do that. I don't know. And the quantity of these meals are actually what we should be consuming. So, there's that. If you want to try something different than your usual dine out, give this place a try and you'll probably end up liking it. The atmosphere is unique, the drinks are fantastic, and you'll learn how to cook a steak.
(4)Daniel S.
Second time going, the food is great, not too overpriced and it's fun to cook it yourself. It's a really cool, old historic building in the heart of downtown with brick walls and a nice bar, pretty classy overall. The service was bad last time; not really their fault though as we didn't have a reservation. We waited for 45 minutes to be seated but they felt so bad they let us eat for free. Definitely go and definitely make a reservation.
(5)Susan W.
Try the zesty cheddar fondue and the cab steak. Great choices along with Ritual Brewing companies Hellion and or extra red. 2 thumbs way up !

Great food great atmosphere! This restaurant is unique and fun :)

Came upon this place by chance and we are happy we did... Awesome food, awesome drink, awesome bartenders, great prices and all in a beautiful space... I can not recommend this place enough and I would drive the 60 miles from where we live just to come back...Thanks so much Mark and Dean you guys made it an fabulous night...
(5)Amy B.
We went for dinner tonight! Delicious and perfect food and a great ambience. We got the best table upstairs by a window. The caprese salad was amazing! We had cheese with bacon and mushrooms, which was absolutely delicious. One person in our party did steak on a roc. It looked delicious! I shared the surf and turf fondue in the vegetable broth. It had shrimp, steak and scallops. The scallops weren't that great but the steak and shrimp was great. For dessert we had milk chocolate. It was delicious but by that point we were very full. Dinner took almost two hours. Fondue is a slow process...but we all enjoyed the meal. I will be back!
(5)D S.
A fun place to eat with good food; however, it's very expensive for what it is and being in Redlands. The bar is nice too but their drinks are also expensive. It's a one-hit wonder that I recommend trying once, but you'll probably never return.
(3)Brittni R.
Amazing food, cocktails, service, and of course dessert! Even the toughest critic could not make a complaint about this place. If I could give 10 stars I would!!! Definitely my new favorite place in redlands!
(5)Thomas N.
I was never a big fan of fondue, but I really like this place. Love the bar, good beer and wine. Can't get everything on the menu at the bar. The Ahi appetizer is great.
(4)Connie S.
Wow, this is a fun place to eat as a group. Shannon was our waitress again, lucky us. She is the best, so helpful with recommendations and what to try. We ordered teriyaki beef, chicken and veges for our fondue and NY steak for our rok part. The chocolate s'more was the best. We tried the cog au vin broth for our fondue pot. Wow, that was great. I am afraid that this has become my favorite restaurant in downtown Redlands to eat.

First time I went the service was 5 stars EXCELLENT! So sweet and attentive! the waitress was just the BEST! I forgot her name. The last time I went though I had to constantly get up in 30 minute intervals to remind our waiter. Not Cool.
