Love this place. Service has gotten better! I've been here a few times since my first time, and I must say it must have just been the day I was there. Service had been pretty good since. My favorite thing here is the shrimp and grits! If I'm ever missing New Orleans, I can come here for my fix!

This is a pretty large place so it can accommodate a few different vibes. I've been to the bar twice (small, cool decor, good drink selection. Bustling on the front end of weekend nights) and had dinner in the restaurant once. The layout of the restaurant is quite cool with some nice open air bits. The food was tasty but nothing to write home about (I had the chicken and waffles). Drinks were decent, service was just fine. With all of the options in Palo Alto I might not return immediately for food, but maybe once I've toured the other restaurants.

I have only had one item here and that's the only reason I come here and it's for the shrimp and grits. I absolutely love it, the grits are cheesy and the shrimp with the sauce are very flavorful and they don't skimp you on the amount of shrimp either. It also comes with some type of garlic infused french bread which is great for sopping up that juice. I do like the New Orleans feel of the restaurant, when you walk inside it kind of feels like you are walking down Bourbon Street. I would like to try some of the other dishes here as well.

First bar I went to when I became legal. Now that I'm a mid twenties professional who has returned to PA, I still frequent this place occasionally. Thank you for all the great times!! If you're celebrating a birthday here with family members be sure to look up their "birthday cake" before hand.

Went here for happy hour with a friend last Friday. Happy hour is only in the bar. Went early and was able to snag a table. Our server was a little cold but it was also so busy so I understand being a past server myself. Drinks and food and brought at good timing and the sangria was delicious. Great deals on drinks during happy hour. Would definitely go again.

I think that food is consistently very good and so are the drinks, the space itself is great and the service is wonderful. Is the food exceptional? No, but as a package, I'd recommend you go to Nola's at least once. It's absolutely worth it, especially for large groups.
Food is good. Nice environment. Too loud for my tastes and food is a little pricey. I do enjoy coming here once in a while

I love this place! Nola is broken up into several rooms; one room was bright with the usual restaurant set up, one room had the bar, and the last room, the room I was in, was a lounge filled with comfy sofas, antique tables, and big screen tvs. The beignets are a must order here. They were soft, fluffy, and paired well with their chocolate and raspberry dipping sauce! I will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu and their hurricanes. Btw there's a small parking lot right next door that has free parking.

Came here last Friday for the second time. We ordered a classic mojito, which was very good, a cup of gumbo, the skirt steak, chicken penne, and mamas mac n cheese. The gumbo was pretty good, it could have been a little spicier but it was good. The cornbread that was served with it was exceptionally good! The skirt steak was really good, it tasted like a dish that my dad makes so I was a little bummed that I spent thirty bucks on a dish that I could have had at home. I love the chicken penne pasta, right amount of spiciness and lots of flavor. The mac n cheese was a little bland but it was super cheesey. The decor and the lay out of the restaurant is probably the reason why I'd come back again. Super cute with tons of art on the walls

So the thing Nola has going for it is the location and the fact that it's in a really cute space, there are tables, a bar area and another area with comfy chairs that feels like what I imagine an old smoking parlor would have back in antebellum Louisiana. For the rest, it's pretty ok but i wouldn't come here on a date night or with kids. The jambalya is good but otherwise, the food is fairly just ok. Mostly, it is a bar for 21+ students to get hammered, meet other people and sometimes have a pseudo-mardi gras evening. I do remember back after Hurricane Katrina, they offered free drinks to anyone with a Tulane student ID, and that was a nice gesture.

My husband ranted and raved about Nola and once I finally made it to this beautifully decorated restaurant I was disappointed. I ordered salmon, grits and biscuits. The pictures do my food more justice than the taste. My salmon was flavorless... Maybe it's because I substituted the purée cauliflower for a side of grits. I didn't like the consistency of the grits either. All in all, I'm going to give Nola a second chance. I'm going to chalk my first experience up to a bad day. I'll be sure to update my review when I revisit.
