My sister and I went here just yesterday on a Sunday. It was later in the day around 1:00pm which was past their rush hour time. At first the service was fine when we ordered drinks and food. When we received our food I asked our waitress if she would change my bacon to really crispy like burnt it's weird but that's the way I like it! We also asked for more butter for my pancakes and my sisters waffle. We were waiting and in my sight of vision I saw that our waitress was standing at the service station talking away to a busser. I waited and watched her continue to just chat with her friend while she should have been doing her job. She eventually turned my way and we made eye contact and she went straight to the kitchen she had clearly forgot about my bacon. While we had been waiting we now needed a refill of our coffee. She came back with the bacon and butter and we asked if we could get refills of our coffee she left and came back and then said "Oh I'm guessing you want creamer" which the answer was yes since we asked for it when we first ordered. She came back with miniature creamers and said "I thought you might like a hazelnut flavor" she put the bowl down and walked away. I did not want hazelnut creamer luckily there were a couple of vanilla creamers and my sister just took the hazelnut instead of waiting again. It was clear she grabbed a bowl of creamers and didn't take the time to even go through them. All of this matters because it was bad service all together but also because we come here often just usually with our parents than just us and normally the service is great. Normally they fill up our coffee without even having to ask. They also usually ask if we want more butter or need anything else not the other way around where we are waiting to ask for something. It honestly got my sister and I thinking are we not getting good service because we are two younger women, and I mean younger in that I am 25 my sister is 28, instead of a family with two parents over the age of 50?! Also it is a stereotype that younger women are not good tippers but we always tip 20% if the service is good. These all could have been factors but I had to give a low rating because the service was terrible. This is the exception to the norm but something needed to be said. Just food for thought!

The OPH is just feel good hearty breakfast. I've been here many times for breakfast, brunch and lunch. I love breakfast and the only downside of OPH is that it is not open 24/7. I love pancakes and have been all over OC to find the perfect pancake. OPH is hands down the winner. My go to pancakes: chocolate chip pancakes with freshly sliced bananas. My go to omelette: the Spanish/Mexican omelette with no mushrooms. Go with a group and share as the portions are pretty big. Service is great, but it is usually packed so come early.

Breakfast in the morning- convalescing in the afternoon. Amazing breakfast. The food here is as good as I had hoped. I won't recap and rundown every food item on the table, but I will say the bacon was amazing! Easily some of the best bacon I've ever had- worth going back just to have it. The ONLY item under par is the friend potatoes- they weren't terrible, but nothing I would get again. The portions are very generous and it's a bold task to think you can finish everything on your plate- I failed. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go back and try again. If you're in a rush, don't come here. It's not a quick breakfast experience- which is fine with me. After one trip, it's very easy to understand why there's always a long wait, especially on the weekends.

My wife and I ate at the new Chapman location last Tuesday. We usually do not attempt to go there because there is such a long wait on the weekends and why stand in line for breakfast, right. Well after all of the anticipation of being able to finally try the Pancake House it was one of the most disappointing breakfasts we have ever had. Please do not order the Polish Sausage and Eggs, for $9.45 I got 2 eggs and two small sausages, the sausage was inedible, looked like a dinner sausage, it did come with 3 small pancakes, but there was no value in the meal, and the taste was disappointing. We will keep with our regular weekend breakfast at Johns Place up on the Chapman grade, and will never attempt the Pancake House again.

Stopped by on the way to Disneyland, since we were in the area. keeping it short ... since all i had was a waffle. YES, a waffle at the pancake house lol I was craving it more than pancakes. Anyhoo. The one waffle i did have was yummy. Next time i go to Disneyland, i'm surely stopping by, and i will order pancakes lol

Bad customer service. Waited to be seated for 5-10 minutes. Welcomed with a glance from both the manager and server, only two working at the time. Not even a "I'll be right there". Both just continued to work as if we weren't there. Food may be good but service sucked. Won't be trying to eat here anymore.

Took my mom here last Sunday. The service and food was great. The owner saw the waitress was busy with a huge table came over got our drinks and took the order. The food came out quick. It tasted great. Portions were nice size for the price. Waitress checked back through out the meal.

It's tradition in our family to go branch every Sunday, today it wasn't there day, service was poor, coffee was cold, I had to wait good time to get another cup of coffee, no one was smiling I felt that I did something wrong, I was trying to smile to the waiter and she was looking at me with her cold smile, not as welcoming as they usually are, and they were throwing the plates with no single words or eye contact, sorry to say they might lost a loyal customer!

Meh. Main dining area is cramped, but I guess that's par for the course with OPH. There are two somewhat large private rooms off to the side so if you wanted to coordinate a business meeting in which nothing gets done due to carbo-overload, you could do that. Staff is hit or miss. We rode in on a Sunday and expected it to be crowded. We put a name down with the bored and unfriendly hostress, then went shopping at the electronics store for 20 minutes. 20 minutes came and we were seated. Shocked. Our server came promptly to take our drink orders and our meal orders. Not so fast there, Speedy. He said he'd come back. 15 minutes later and nothing, though he did manage to pass by our table six times and failed to make eye contact once. Perhaps he forgot about us and thought he had already taken our orders. We grabbed a stray waitress to take our orders. She was quite friendly. Our food came out promptly and our original server was quick to check in on us to make sure we had fresh coffee and tea. The meal was good and the pancakes were fluffy. Special 4 egg scramble with mushrooms, swiss, ham, bacon, sausage, and pico de gallo was quite a bit to handle. Tasted fine though I had to ask for more salsa. Sourdough pancakes on the side were hot, fluffy, and fantastic, though the forgetful waiter successfully dropped one of my pancakes on the floor and then quickly forgot to bring me a new one. No matter. I was full anyway, but it's the principle of it, ya know? The Wheat Germ pancakes were hearty and balanced and didn't taste or feel like colon blow. Another winner. Add in a small side bowl of strawberries for both stacks and you have an amazingly refreshing meal. So far, my favourite item is the sourdough pancake stack. Everything else I've ever tasted has been good, but the sourdough wins me over and it has become my regular order for carbs at OPH. Adding in the sliced strawberries from his order was a surprise that was far more pleasant than I would have imagined. Now I want pancakes. Dammit. Why only 2 stars? Well, the service was less than pleasant and the manager didn't seen to care about the patrons. When the management staff looks more apathetic than the minimum wage staff, there's really nobody to give suggestions to, to complain to, or to express compliments to. This location is blah but it's a nice ride in through Santiago Canyon; however, I'd rather the the OPH on Oso Parkway in south county. It's closer to Ortega Hwy and has friendlier staff.

I had to give this place 1 star only because I couldn't post otherwise....my original rating was 0..... The pancakes at Ihop are sooo much better! Next time I'm in the mood for pancakes Ihope will definitely get my business. Not only was the food not good, customer service is horrible!! The person we thought was the Manager kept coming over to ask if everything was ok which was good, but then since my cousin and I were in deep conversation catching up on life, apparently we had been there a long time, he comes over once again and with a bit of attitude asks "are you done, will you be paying your bill anytime soon? I have other people in the lobby waiting to be seated." I hesitated in dissbelief on how we were being treated and responded "We are not done, but now that you put it that way, I guess you leave us with no choice but to be done." We paid, I asked our server who the man was only to find out he was the owner......really??? We walked out of the place and only four people were waiting in the lobby. I will never return to this establishment....hope you have better luck.

Like all original pancake houses, prepare for a wait on a weekend. If you don't want to wait, come early or go on a weekday like I do. After a long night shift I went and had breakfast with my work brothers. What can I say? Some have work wives, some have work husbands, but these guys like to annoy me so how can I not call them my brothers? Back to the breakfast place description, out of all the original pancake houses I've gone to, the orange breakfast place is way better. The feng shui of the place is great. There are plenty of booths, plenty of tables, the place is very clean and the placement of everything from the kitchen, bathroom and dining layout flows well. The managers help their staff and generally their staff is pretty attentive. As for the food, I love their omelettes here due to their fluffiness and ginormous portions. I can't get over how fluffy and almost sphere like their omelettes come as. When you're feeling vegetarian, have the mushroom omelette with swiss cheese. You can pick other cheeses but this goes well with the sauce they put on top. One of my coworkers picked a veggie omelette and my other coworker picked very thin pancakes called 49ers(?). Anyway, this is place is fantastic, I've brought my friends from out of town here and I enjoy their non-conventional breakfast choices.

I have heard legends of the original pancake house. It was told to me that it was a magical place somwhere between a home style diner and the home of pancake mad scientists. My friends, this is the place that was foretold to me in my childhood. Here's the low down. Price: you get what you pay for. Sure it's not the cheapest place for breakfast. But the quality is obvious. Food: what are you in the mood for? Savory? Sweet? Both? You can find what you're craving here. I recommend the potato pancakes just because I'm Jewish like that. But if you're in the mood for something sweeter their signature Apple pancakes are insane. Service: no complaints. Friendly quick and attentive. Wait: get here early. Or your going to be behind quite a few people to get your food. Special needs: Gluten free paradise. My poor boyfriend rarely gets a chance to eat pancakes waffles or crepes this good that aren't going to make him sick. Cons: parking is not that great and the area is a little sketchy. And if it's your first time you are likely to miss it. Please give this place a chance though. It really is worth everything that is not fabulous.

Time 10:30 AM Meal: Breakfast Ordred: pecan pancakes, bacon pancakes, coffee, side of bacon Pros: delicious always a person walking around with a pot of coffee for refills variety of seating for different sized parities reasonably priced always left-overs Cons: long waits uncomfortable chairs tight quarters slow in the kitchen the parking is pretty hit or miss also. Comments: I like this restaurant, but it's not a place i go often because it's so caloric and carby. If you have people out of town, it's

My sister and her boyfriend swear by this place, and so, my family went there on our last day in the Anaheim Area. I will agree with previous posts in that the portions are gigantic, the place clean, open, and very homey feeling to it. Their pancakes (boyfriend had the pumpkin flavored ones) and crepes (the Cherry Kijafa), were absolutely delicious, and I would love to come here again and try this "Dutch Baby" I keep hearing about. But I just had to go and be different. My order was the Irish Omelet, which was corned beef, potatoes, onion and cheese. I love all of these things, so naturally, I thought I would love this too. All the omelets come with a "small" side of pancakes. Small being relative, seeing as they are a full meal serving for me! (488 calories) I barely got through 5 or 6 bites before I just had to push it aside and enjoy my side of pancakes instead. Yes, this omelet was massive, but although I saw plenty of corned beef, I couldn't TASTE any of it. this could have been a plain cheese omelet for all the flavor profile I got out of it. I then drove the 4 hours home with a sour stomach. Not a great recommendation to my breakfast that was over 700 calories for what I did eat! I want to give this place another chance because as I said, the other dishes tasted SO good. But not the Irish Omelet, ever again.

My family regularly eats at the Original OHP location in Anaheim, on Lincoln. The differences between that original location and this one (they seriously must franchise these things out...) are enormous! I would never, ever eat here again. The food doesn't taste the same and the service isn't friendly. They have no right to call themselves The Original Pancake House.

My boyfriend is a pancake fiend. This place has become THE pitstop for him and I, post-LIB. It's hella funny to pull up, all dusty, tired, and camped out, walk into the front lobby, and there are all these OC folks waiting to be seated -- reality check! The restaurant is big, and in spite of this, every time, we are put on the waiting list -- it's that popular with the locals! Pancake House offers a vast array of pancake-themed entrees, plus waffles, and savory stuff, like omelettes, etc. I can only imagine this was what a budding IHOP was before it franchised itself to death. The wait staff work like a well-oiled machine to keep things ticking along at an efficient pace. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to ordering pancakes, and haven't even made it to the ones that come in a skillet (!), but it's tempting (also portions are BIG). Not being too much into sugar kinda kills the fun but I have enjoyed every meal there, and been super appreciative that the wait staff don't blink an eye to us (read: we are not from around here!). Thanks Pancake House, we love your breakfast!

Seriously some of the best Pancakes I have ever had! Don't let the big crowd scare you away, they seat you super fast. My old stand by is the 49er flap jacks. SOOO GOOD! I went this weekend and had the special of Carnitas Crepe and I was in food heaven. I wish it was regular. Everything I have ever had here is amazing to the highest degree! My only complaint is that dishes don't come with sides, but that won't stop me.

My sister is a big fan of this place while I've never really been a fan of coming here for breakfast. The biggest unappealing factor I've experienced while coming to the Pancake House is the INSANE wait times.... We'll all order breakfast and it always-always seems like it will take forever for the food to finally arrive... Maybe that's because the food comes in such LARGE portions... Which I suppose is the appeal to the place. The food portions here are gigantic... I don't think I've ever been able to finish a meal I've ordered here in one sitting and I for one don't think that the humongous portions are worth the really-really long wait... Some people may disagree, but I think there are far better breakfast places to visit while in the Tustin-Orange area...

My wife took me here for the first time and I wasn't disappointed. The pancakes are the best pancake I've ever had. The place is very busy, we got there on a Sunday at around 8:45 am and we only had a 5 minute wait before we got seated. Now about an hour later, when we left, the line was out the door and down the street, so expect a wait if you're coming later. My Favorites: Apple Pancake (yum yum yum..... it takes 30 minutes to make, but worth the wait) It's big, I recommend you share with at least 4 people, that big. Buttermilk Pancake Bacon (thick cut, real tasty - must have) Corned Beef Hash Cons: Parking is a bit hard (too many people) Very popular with the breakfast crowd, so there is a wait, specially if you come late. The service to us was excellent. My wife is pregnant and they were very accommodating with her dietary restrictions. She's been here a couple of more times than I have been and she told me she's always gotten good service. I know there has been a lot of post regarding bad service, but not to us. Try for yourself, but come early.

Yum. Pretty hard to find a place I'm willing to wait for. I'm willing. Huge delicious portions of whatever you want. I had the crepe with bananas and sour cream. Rich and heavenly and required serious napp-age afterward. The omelet was gigantic and fluffy. Service was good and the pricing is more than fair.

It's a pancake right? No big deal? Except here the little grilled flour saucer, with my favorite preparation of fresh strawberries and whipped cream, becomes a plate of sweet awesomeness. And the bacon! Hmmm...bacon. Here it is applewood smoked and they cook it perfectly...crispy on the outside, bacony goodness on the inside. Free soda refills seals the deal. Usually crowded on weekend so get there early or go during the week. Why go to work on time when there are pancakes and bacon just waiting to be eaten? Why 4 stars instead of five? A tad pricey with the check usually $30.00 or so for two with tax and tip. But so worth it!

This place has grown on me and I really enjoy eating here. The prices still are expensive but there really isn't a better breakfast place I have been to here in Orange. Their pancakes are really good as well. I love there coffee too.

I LOVE breakfast food. This is one of my favorite places to garb some breakfast! You can never go wrong with this place. I usually get the eggs benedict with blueberry pancakes. The eggs benedict has great flavor and the hollandaise sauce is flavorful and creamy and of course you must get pancakes when you go here. They have pretty unique and flavorful syrups depending on what kind of pancake you decide to get. I also love the skillet potatoes with cheese and bacon. This place is always packed on the weekends so be prepared to wait. Service can be a tad bit slow at times but then again they are really busy every time I come here. Try going early to beat the crowd!

  • Amy C.

I don't see what the fuss is all about?? I didn't get the Dutch baby or the giant apple pancake....their traditional pancake wasn't anything special... No different than IHop or Denny's. The 20 minute wait was so not worth it...and to drive from the other side of the mountain... Definitely wasn't in Irvine or south county anymore!!

Just started going to this location versus Yorba Linda. Love their 49er pancakes. 49ers usually cover the plate and then some. These were half the normal size. If you have to start cheaping out on the portion size, then back to Yorba Linda.

  • R D.

Potato pancakes - meh; It was burnt. I can't believe they even brought it out as food! Then again... I ate it. Hawaiian - tasty; according to Der Boif. He wants to come here all the time! Biscuits and gravy - Very good! If I do come here again, this is all I am getting. Between my 1 star and Der Boif's 5 stars, we chose the middle ground and picked 3. Service was slow. Not necessarily bad. But super slow! Considering we were the only 2 there? C'mon!

  • Audra R.

Its ok... Its so pricey, and ridiculously unhealthy. Veggie omelet with buckwheat pancakes is as healthy as it gets, and I still feel like a bloated hippo The best OPH is in Yorba Linda, really, the food is much better there. I wouldn't wait for more than 15 min. to eat at this location.

Why didn't I notice this place before? Why didn't anyone tell me about this place? Oh my gosh it's so good! Our table got the bacon waffles, egg white omelette, strawberry omelette, and the potato pancakes. We also got a side of grilled potatoes a la mexican style and bacon. It took a while since it's made to order but it was so good. Everything is so good as well. So big! I really liked the potato pancakes. I really liked my bacon waffles and the egg white omelette was pretty good with spinach. A little plain but I didn't order it. Must go again. Be ready to wait in line since it's popular on weekends. Great place for kids too. Kids get a sippy cup they can keep.

My wife and I love the 49er pancakes and potatoe pancakes. This time i ventured to the jims special. Lots of food and it was delicious. Only reason its not 5 stars is the 2 horrible customer service hostesses. They are 2 teenage girls who just have a bad attitude and should just stay in the back of the place away from customers. I dont think they know how to smile even if you paid them.... oh wait they are being paid to smile. So if you ignore those 2 people you will have a great breakfast.

I love the food here. Huge portions and amazing apple pancakes. Make sure your ready to wait for about 45min+ depending on when you go the wait is bad but it is worth it.

I like this place, I personally get the omlettes (which are huge). Plenty of cheese inside and comes with pancakes. Now I am not normally a fan of pancakes (yes, it's strange to go to The Original Pancake House and not eat pancakes. Boy, was that a mistake. The pancakes are melt in your mouth good, what have I been waiting for. Just add syrup. (muahh). The place is clean, great service but ther can be a wait on a sunday. So come early or be prepared for a wait.

Great breakfast food for lunch! Came here for lunch this week, as I have done several times before. You don't come here for the atmosphere - you just come for the food. I really like the Tahitian Maiden's Dream (banana, sherry-filled crepe), but I've also tried the Dutch Baby (bread dish with lemon and sugar), eggs benedict and their sausage and egg combinations - all of which were good. If you want tasty, solid breakfast food - this is definitely the place.

    (4)
  • Marge C.

I can safely give it a 2-star because we had 6 people so I got to try at least 3 different dishes which were all okay but when you consider each plate to be $9+ it is definitely not worth it. Blueberry Waffle - as good as any other joint, but just costs $3+ more and there are no sides. Omelet - Their omelet is basically one huge blob of cooked eggs with whatever ingredients you ordered covered over it. Not like a usual omelet with the ingredients in the middle. It was okay, just was not expecting an omelet to look like. Dutch Baby - It was on the specialty menu, it was 'different' but not great as I thought. Eggs Benedict - This was pretty good and the eggs were poached great with a sausage patty on the bottom. So overall I would say I'd rather go to Denny's.

The service here is the worst!!! Long Wait. Not enough waitresses. The manager does not put clientel first. The food was good. When the coffee was served, we got expired milk with it. Employees here do not wear their name tags.

OMG.... Pancake House... is the best! Often times, when I've been awoken at the god awful hour of 6am on a weekend by my "wonderful" dogs, I think to myself... this sucks. But then a bright idea will pop into my head "Pancake HOUSE"!! And if we hurry down Chapman we will quickly be rewarded with the best breakfast anyone could ask for. The crowds of people waiting can be intimidating, but PLEASE don't turn around and head on over to the McDonalds drive through...a little patience and you will be rewarded. Honestly, we've never waited longer than 20 minutes for a table here and in fact are usually seated within 10. If you know me, I'm a how shall we say, picky eater. And once I've ordered something good off a menu, I'll rarely stray to "try" other things. But Pancake House has gotten me past this difficult hindrance and I really can't wait to go back and try something new each time! Everything I've tried here is fabulous, from the basic buttermilk pancakes, blueberry pancakes, dutch baby and my fav the strawberry pancakes. The best part by far is the FRESH sweet whipped cream that tops those fluffy pancakes and slices of fabulous strawberries! We also love the fresh squeezed (for reals) OJ! I'm seeing another visit in my very near future!

Consistently a solid choice for breakfast or brunch. They serve up your typical American breakfast fare, but with little twists here and there. The only problems that I have with coming here is the line and the layout of the menu. If you get there at peak times, you're looking at waiting an hour at a minimum. The layout of the menu also lends itself to frustration. You want to try their specialtiy pancakes (ie. Apple Pancake, Dutch Baby, etc...), because they are delicious, but then you want some meat. If you go with the Corned Beef Hash, it comes with plain Buttermilk Pancakes. Try to substitute these pancakes with a specialty pancake (for a nominal fee) and out comes four TINY specialty pancakes. There's no winning here.

Unoriginal experience in every sense of the word. Our party of six arrived in the afternoon, the place was way beyond any sort of a breakfast rush. After a 45 minute wait for food, we were served mediocre pancakes, omelette, and horrid French toast. Don't believe the hype their is nothing original about this place. Wouldn't go back if you paid me.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! beem to the Aliso and Yorba Linda Locations. This one is in a odd shopping plaza but that did not make a difference. Variety of pancakes and breakfast specialties. It does get VERY busy so get there early. Well worth the wait and the service is great.

horrible service. Was waiting for 40 mins to get my food. The couple before me and after me got their food well before ours came out. I had to get up myself and grab the hot sauce/ketchup from the kitchen. Spoke with the manager and they did NOTHING for their lack of service. Still left a tip, only because of the holiday season. Don't go here, would not recommend it, unless you're OK with having people before/after you eat first.

I had ordered a sausage and cheese omelet, asked if I can substitute fruit for of the pancakes that came with it (I am watching excess carbohydrates) and the waiter noted that. When I got the check I was charged for the fruit. Spoke to the waiter who then called the manager came over and I explained the issue. The manager's explanation was that it was an up-charge for the substitution and was "the policy of the Original Pancake House". It wasn't just a matter of the charge, it should have been mentioned when I asked for the substitution. As a manager he should have taken care of the issue as a good will gesture. The waiter offered to give me back the money from his own pocket as it was his first day and didn't know that he should have explained that there would be an extra charge. I declined after the manager's remark as it was management's fault not his. I am never going back there for his attitude, no less their "policy". I've been to many restaurants and they always offer fruit, tomatoes or cottage cheese as a substitute for bread or pancakes. It takes a lot for me to get mad! Too bad there isn't a zero star rating.

After a morning of CHOC Walk at Disneyland.. I needed something to pick me up for the rest of the day.. The Original Pancake House hit every spot. Fresh squeeze orange juice, warm fluffy pancake, yummy potato pancakes and BEST OF ALL?? THEIR OMELETS! OH MY GOSH! So good! They are huge too! Big portions! If you want somewhere good, with big portions! GO there! You can tell its good with the amount of people lining up to go in!

Tried this place today after getting a recommendation from a friend and checking out the reviews on Yelp... Waited 15 minutes for table, as quoted Lots of choices, went with the Mexican Omelette. Huge is an understatement and it came with 3 pancakes! Kids had chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious. Bacon was cut thick and delicious. We will be back to try some of the specialties.

Mmmmm they just opened one right down the street from me and when I'm craving breakfast this place is definitely a spot hitter! Anything you'd crave for breakfast, they've got it covered... and then some! Things you've never even heard of or never even knew existed, yep, on the menu. It's fabulous! I especially love the apple pancakes, what a site! Gorgeous in every way, but definitely on the overly sweet side since they are so enormous, I recommend sharing. Also, dutch baby will definitely wake you up in the morning. It's just an eye pleaser to look at, you'll fall in love immediately! Mmm oh wait... did I mention bacon waffles?!?! How could I have missed those? I don't think I need to go into the drool-worthy details for ya folks!

There was a 30-35 minute wait when we came here on Halloween morning. There were about 13 of us in our party. It was pretty busy already so we didn't mind waiting. Plus we were freggin hungry. Once we were seated a waitress took our drink orders. Very friendly, very accommodating. I stopped one of the wait staff to ask him what the patrons at the next table had and he was kind and patient enough to go over what they had and his recommendations on the dishes/specials they had there. I ended up getting the banana nut pancakes. It was okay but way too much pecans in my opinion. If they served it with toasted macadamia nuts then it would've made it so much better, but that's just my opinion. My brother ordered their Dutch Baby and it was okay. It tasted more like egg than a pastry. My husband ordered their corned beef hash and it was pretty good. I would try this place again on a weekday. Weekends are just way to crazy for my taste.

food is good but service is just average... I have gone here a few times and it is always the same....just OK The one in Anaheim on Lincoln ave. has better service and the food is better!.... store is clean but just not the same.... try the one in Anaheim and compare for yourself.. This restraunt is cleaner and newer but doesn't compare to the Anaheim location...

I went to the Original Pancake House in Anaheim many years ago and found it to be a huge turnoff. I had one of their signature baked apple pancakes and it was partially raw yet it burned my mouth when i ate it. It was all-around a bad experience. But a few weeks ago, I had breakfast at the one in Orange and didn't realize it was the same company. I have to say, this place is on my breakfast favorites list now. The pancakes are totally rockin' and the scrambled eggs with diced ham is worth standing in line for. I love corned beef hash but this one just doesn't do it for me. Seems over processed or something, a little on the mushy side, not crispy enough. I could eat the coconut crusted pancakes with the tropical syrup every day.

I absolutely love having my late breakfast here. The food is always high quality and the wait staff are awesome and friendly. See you next week!

I guess I am a little biased here- I LOVE PANCAKES!!! Lol It's always busy so you can expect things to take a little longer but it is worth it no matter what you order. I love the original and pumpkin pancakes- their omlettes are oh so fluffy and good... if you are looking to get a convo with staff don't come here they are too busy and do a great job of getting food out in a timely manner! Thank you for such delicious and all different types of PANCAKES!!

So excited I love this place, although this is the first time I have come to this location. I usually frequent the one in Laguna Hills and Vegas. Our service was outstanding as usual and quick. You can never go wrong with anything on the menu. This location is smaller than the other sites. I look forward to weekends and going in to have breakfast here, definite treat!!!

Came on a Sunday morning, extremely busy. Wait was about 30 minutes. Service was spectacular, not only did our waiter check on us, but other waiters/waitresses did as well. I liked this because it seemed like if I needed something I didn't have to find the waiter working that section, gave this place a team/family appearance. The food came out promptly. I ordered blueberry pancakes with bacon and eggs. The pancakes were really good. The eggs came out exactly how I wanted them, over medium, not too watery, not too cooked. However, the bacon is disgusting, in my opinion. I like my bacon thin and crispy. This bacon was almost like eating jerky, it was thick and chewy. You could probably just go to an IHOP and get the same quality of food and service, nothing out of the ordinary.

Came here wanting an old fashioned breakfast and figured this would be the perfect joint. I've been to their other chains so I knew I couldn't go wrong. The decor doesn't quite match it's appeal...it looks like a denny's inside versus grandma's all americana kitchen. Onto the food....the food came out fast which is always a plus and the portions are decent. We got the dutch baby, polish sausage, bacon and eggs. Bacon was really good...thick cut and perfectly fried. Polish sausages were a bit on the dinky side but still good. Eggs are eggs. Oh and we got the apple waffle...really good. The waffle was fluffy and the topping was really good, but not enough to go around. Dutch baby never fails. But my biggest gripe about this place is the PRICE. It is WAY overpriced for what you get. Omelets were an average of $10 + and polish and eggs were $8.75. How did we manage to spend $50 for 2 people at a pancake house? Doesn't make sense to me. Probably won't be coming back unless i'm REALLY craving one of their items...just not worth it.

My Brother took me here and ... It was drools and drools allover as the breakfast feast there is so goooood! I had the cornbeef hash with eggs and the AWESOME POTATO PANCAKES! DO NOT CONFUSED THIS WITH THE "INTERNATIONAL" ONE. This is way more better! Note: They are only open on a certain time and close early so better check them out before going there!

Great place to get a filling breakfast. The omelets are outrageous and the pancakes are ginormous. The wait staff is super friendly and the prices are fair. A definite choice for any morning breakfast run. Can get busy at time so be prepaid to wait.

They put like at least 6 eggs in their omelets so it's better to share unless you're an oinker like me. Most of the stuff is a la carte. I think all the omelets are tastey and I like the corned beef hash. The specialty pancakes are a little pricey but I guess it's cuz they're special? I had the Dutch baby and the apple one both really good. The apple one is almost like an apple pie, I guess dessert like definitely. I first went to the one on Lincoln but this one is the middle spot for my buddies and me to meet up. Anyhoo both places are good and slightly different.

I was introduced to this place by my boyfriend about 1 year ago and can say nothing bad about it. They have a wide variety of breakfast options, and as you would assume, a variety of pancakes as well. My favorite happens to be the chocolate chip pancakes, because you cannot go wrong! Definitely a place to visit or add to your bookmarks?!

My favorite thing from here is their hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream! I wish those were free refills because I can seriously just sit there and drink hot chocolates and fill up on them. I love their whipped cream. I know people usually don't go crazy over whipped cream but theirs is so good!!! I made my own at home in attempt to copy theirs. It was almost as good...but theirs is BETTER. The strawberry waffles are my second favorite thing from here. I have also been to the Yorba Linda location which is just as good. : )

I figured it was gym day anyways so what the heck.. I'd have my Sat breakfast here. Since I absolutely hate the chain breakfast places like IHOP.. I figured this place would be a little bit more interesting? We arrived at 10.30am and we had to wait about 10mins for a table for two. Our server came by right away and got us our coffee. Coffee was OK not as bad as Arthur's or IHOP. It was hard to commit only to one dish because everything looks so good. I started to get anxiety because we were sitting next to the kitchen door and as every dish came out I wanted to like attack. The smell of the different pancake dishes were intoxicating in a good way. The table next to me had the coconut pancakes and boy could I smell it.. it was so fragrant and nice. I wanted something savory for breakfast but also didn't want to miss out on the pancakes. I had my partner in crime order the banana pancakes and I ordered the omelet that had ham, bacon, bellpeppers, onions, and cheddar cheese. The Banana Pancakes are the BEST I have ever had! They were fluffy with the perfect amount of bananas. They tasted like banana cakes! The Omelet was another story. It was came out like a huge blob, the size of half a football. Looked like it was made with 6 eggs! I like my omelet with no color so that the texture is silky and smooth. This had a little too much color and slightly over cooked. This results in a Fritatta type of egg dish rather than an omelet. I managed to only eat about 1/4 of it. This omelet dish also came with a side of 3 buttermilk pancakes. I hardly touched them because I loved the banana ones so much. We were considering getting some bacon on the side.. but at $4 for 4 slices.. it appeared rather ridiculous to us. I will definitely like to come back and try their famous Dutch Baby. ... prob not for awhile.. Be prepared for a Huge Carb Overload here.

It's really, really hard to find a breakfast place in Orange on a Sunday morning. Restaurants are either open too late (PJ's Abbey), have terrible service (The Filling Station), are not acceptable (Denny's, Carrows, Norms), or are not open at all (Anepalcos). This can be a big bummer on Sunday morning at 7am. Before I go further, yes, I really am awake before 7am on Sundays. If you also have an insomniac toddler than you know what I'm talkin' about. Needless to say, I'm happy that there's a local Original Pancake House. They open at 7am, they have great service, and the food is average to good. I'll just come right and say, you will not have the best pancakes of your life at OPH. But you will get some fairly good pancakes. I actually prefer the waffles and omelets. The seasonal strawberry waffle is delicious and they pile on the fresh strawberries. Other highlights are the Dutch Baby, which is ridiculously good, and the apple pancake. If they were fat free, they would be perfect. Now, if you've read any of my reviews, you might know that I'm pretty particular when it comes to service. Going out to eat should be an enjoyable and relaxing time. It's the reason we go out rather than stay in and cook, right?!? Breakfast service should be the BEST service because people are usually the hungriest and crankiest first thing in the morning. So, it's great to go to OPH and get excellent service. They deliver the coffee and food very quickly and the coffee is always refilled without asking. This is key to good breakfast service. *end breakfast service soapbox rant here* Anyways, go check out OPH if you happen to be in the Orange area for breakfast. Good food, endless coffee, decent prices, and excellent service. What more do you need at 7am on a Sunday? Oh, yeah. Sleep.

I had a fantastic experience!! They have an abundance of options for pancakes and omelets. Every type of pancake you could possibly dream up, they have. I ordered the western egg-white omelet with a bacon substitution and pepper jack cheese and banana pancakes! Absolutely amazing! The omelet is so HUGE and its prepared so that it has a crispy souffle-ish top layer. And they don't skimp on the bacon. They also don't skimp on the bananas in the pancakes as well. Overall it was a great meal and experience. Our server, Emily, was on top of things as well. We're were asking a ton of questions and she was really patient and knowledgeable about the menu.

I have never seen so many different kinda of pancakes in my life, buckwheat pancakes, potato pancakes, sourdough, Swedish, Hawaiian, pecan, chocolate, banana, blueberry, even bacon pancakes. Oh my God, carb heaven! It's so good here. Totally worth the long wait and crappy parking situation. Okay, just thinking about it makes me want to go this weekend.

3 stars! This location has changed my opinion of the chain. Came here for lunch and I must say, though service was spotty, food was right on! The cornbeef n hash was tasty! Cooked well, though could've been a little more crisp, but seasoned perfectly! Overeasy eggs were perfect, runny yolks! "Premium" potatoes were great. Crunchy, cheesy, full of vegetables and not overcooked! It's nice to see a place perfectly execute breakfast foods! The last time I ate at one of these was in Vegas. That location sucks, food is mediocre and service is terrible!

  • Anne Q. T.

Yes, I love the Dutch Baby (4 stars). But it's mainly carbs. So to balance the nutritional picture, we usually order an egg white omelette of one kind or another. Have you seen the size of their omelettes? To me, this OPH location does omelettes better than pancakes. But the 3 stars is due to the service staff being in need of better training. After waiting 45 min to an hour for a table, nothing is more annoying to a customer than to have to wait another 20 minutes to have the order placed - except to see the next table who was seated after receive their food. Staff does not appear to love their job. This is a sad illustration that while the first OPH location/ experience may have been great, corporate expansion does not always means better.

I normally stop by the Original Pancake House in Anaheim because it's closer to us and it's in, well, a house. But the group wanted to go to this spot because they believed it wouldn't have as long a wait. An Original Pancake House without a wait? Not likely. But we went. This restaurant is in a strip mall, which makes it look more like a Dennys than Pancake House, but make no mistake. This place doesn't serve typical pancakes and eggs. Three of the group had omelets: huge mounds of eggs stuffed with spinach and various vegetables, or sausage and mushrooms, or whatever one desires. A more modest dish was the Cherry Kijafa crepes, three delicious crepes plumped and topped with cherries. I had that with a side of ham steak (no wimpy limp bacon here!) and although I tried to discipline myself to leave at least one crepe as leftovers, I couldn't justify such restraint. But one comes to the Pancake House for pancakes, be they Buttermilk or Swedish or Potato. The folks at Original Pancake House serve them up freshly-cooked, and lots of them. The only thing not served in large amounts was the orange juice. In the day and age where a "small" is "tall," the large OJ is pretty dinky, especially for the price. But it is indeed fresh-squeezed, tasted as though it were straight from the orange. This freshness is one of the hallmarks of the Original Pancake House. Every bit of it tastes made from scratch, as though it had been made by Grandma, in your own house. We left filled with good food, and with breakfast for the next day.

Went with a coworker because we were craving pancakes for lunch. Wasn't expecting anything more than a visit to a different version of IHOP. Wrong! Pancakes were very flavorful and impressive!!! The egg white omelet I ordered was the fluffiest pillow of eggtasticness ever! Meal was cheap. Pancakes are the best I've had from a chain restaurant (and even better than some brunch places that serve buttermilk pancakes from scratch). Not saying the best pancakes ever, but you know, they are better than average! I can only wonder how their waffles taste! Ah, a reason to visit next time. Service was a bit slow and the wait for our food was long, but otherwise, great place. Clean and menu variety is awesome!

Blueberry pancakes are to die for! Must bathe this baby with the blueberry compote that it comes with. Tried the dutch baby on a separate visit and I can't say that I would have it again. The dutch baby is soft, doughy and is made to look like a giant crater. It tastes good on the first few bites, however after a while it just gets overwhelmingly doughy tasting. You will definitely satisfy your appetite with this. I'd definitely recommend the strawberry waffles. Aside from the sweet breakfast delectables, I've had the scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon, these were just mediocre. You are better off making it at home. Instead of ordering the scrambled eggs, you should try their omelettes.

  • Jewlee Y.

This place has gone downhill quick. Their pancakes are not as flavorful as when they first opened. Their bacon doesn't even taste quite the same. (their omelettes are still good) I thought it may have been me, so we tried it a few more times, but unfortunately we walked away with the same disappointment each time. Some of their waitstaff are really lacking now. I've just spent over $70 for breakfast including Juices and Hot Chocolates, but when I asked for some water, repeatedly, I was ignored. If it was something I had to pay for I probably would of gotten it. I guess she doesn't work for tips..... Had to update....hate to hate....but sometimes you just got to keep it real. This place definitely is not 4 stars anymore.

I lived down the street from this Original Pancake House for about two years. My first experience there was OK, nothing great. The food was OK, the service was OK and the prices were OK. Then next time I went back, the food was OK, the service was a little less than OK and the prices were still the same. The last time I went to this OPH was father's day 2010. FATHER'S DAY!!! My children wanted to take me here for breakfast. The place was crowded (alright, I expect that on FATHER's DAY) and we put our name in. We sat down right next to the hostess podium where the Hostess could not miss us. We watched as several groups were seated ahead of us, groups that arrived after us. Maybe they were different sized groups and table space was at a premium. Finally I said something and the girl said, "Oh, we called you." THE HECK YOU DID!!! Finally the manager showed up and instead of (at the very least) saying we will get you seated next, he started insinuating that I was less than truthful about sitting in front of his hostess the whole time.... IT WAS FATHER'S DAY!!! MY CHILDREN BROUGHT THEIR FATHER THERE FOR FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST!!!! Apparently this place has never heard the saying, "The customer is always right." We left, not happy! Went to ARTHUR's on Tustin.... Same fare... Food is better, service is better, feeling is better. Just saying.

Utter crap! Our food was less than average, a crappy cup of coffee and our waitress never bothered to check on us. We had to flag someone else down for crappy coffee and water refills (why bother?), and when she finally did come by, she dropped the check and then asked if we wanted anything else. I was a waitress for a VERY long time and this just isn't gonna fly with me. She probably had too many tables to handle, but there were other people standing around. Maybe a management issue. Either way, it doesn't matter, because I am not coming back!

The food here is delicious. I like their flap jacks the best. The service is prompt and the wait, while it may seem crowded, is never super long. You get a lot of food, more than enough for 2 people to share.

My friends keep raving about this place so late Sunday morning I agreed to drive 45 minutes to meet them. After some issues with getting coordinated we ended up at this location which is located in a nondescript strip mall. The Hostess was very nice and patient with the rest of my parties' tardiness. We were quickly seated and our waitress was quick with our drinks. The problems started when we realized that this location doesn't serve Biscuits and Gravy which apparently one of the other locations does. After some pouting and whining we managed to place our order. A short while later the manager informs us that they ran out of waffle batter. It was actually quite funny. Except to the guy that woke up craving for biscuits and gravy, settled for waffles and was now faced with having to place his order a 3rd time. At this point I became convinced that we were on candid camera. Our server tried to clear one of the guy's plates as he was mid-bite, food in hand. Literally as she turned to walk away another person, not even our waitress, walked up and asked to take his plate. All of this made for an amusing Sunday, funny story aside, I'm left with a chain restaurant that serves different food then the other chains and ran out of one of its main menu items. The food was ok, the prices ok, the service ok. It was just ok.

SUCH terrible service so here i am posting my first bi*chy complaining review. and alas, let's hope the trend shall not continue. being a breakfast lover i love the fresh smell of coffee and watching the morning crowd as people digging into their lovely pancakes. however, pllllleeeeeeeease pleeeeease do not take my order after 20 minutes i have sit down and bring my food after the people who ordered 15 minutes after me! Pleease pleeeease do not ignore request of milk with coffee! pleaase pleassssse do not try to hide away from me after i waved my hand furiously waiting for an explaination why my food has not arrived after 1 hour! that seriously ticks me off BIG TIME!! though the owner did come over to explain to me that it takes longer to make my food after i complained, BUT NO, I AIN'T BUYING IT and Yes, i'll believe you more if you tell me the cock is hatching the eggs in the kitchen! I was told the original pancake house in Aliso Viejo is where the MILF goes, so i deliberately chose the one in getto Orange hoping my date wouldn't drool too much as we eat. but again, i guess there is a reason the MILFs choose that place the price is alright, costed me $3 additional just to replace plain pancake with blueberry pancake, which, turned out less than what i have expected. blueberry syrup that came along was definitely lovely. Ham tasted gamey and sour, DON'T GET IT! Overall sucky experience, wouldn't go there again but rather risking the embarrassment of my date drooling all over the floor for those OC MILFS. *humph*

Let's be very clear: the pancakes are amazing. I had the blueberry pancakes and literally cleaned the whole plate. They were the perfect density, light, fluffy, sweet but not too sweet. The food is worth the wait. Speaking of the wait...that's why I can't give this place more than 3 stars. I'm not just talking about waiting for a table to open up. I'm talking about after we had already ordered, we waited a good 20 minutes to get our food. It also bugs me when they bring out each person's plate at different times. For a chain, though, I was impressed with the quality of the food. The best part is that the nutritional info is available online (and it's not AS unhealthy as you might think).

  • Winnetka W.

I'm going give this place 2 stars because of the food. Best damned pancakes I've ever tasted. The service could stand to a little improvement. I initially walked in and made eye contact with three people. Everyone had the, that's not my job face. Customer service skills would have you say to the guest, "Someone will be with you in just a moment". Regretfully, CS is a dying trait. Finally I was seated, by the forth eye contact. Will I come back, who knows. I hate when I find a good place to eat with poor customer service. Can't fully enjoy the meal that way.

We went to the new breakfast place in town but it had a super long wait so we decicded to go here instead. There was still a wait on Sunday morning but not as bad. The server was nice but I hate when my drink doesn't get refilled! Also, 2 people ordered something with poached eggs and both of the yolks were cooked completely through... I hate that!!! The best part of Eggs Benedict is cutting through and seeing the runny yolk! I was so dissapointed. I didn't even eat it and instead picked off the people that ordered pancakes. The pancakes at least are always good! Also, they forgot my brother's pancakes (that came with his eggs) and cleared 2 out of the 4 plates before he received them. Moral of the story: stick to the pancakes or waffles here!

My wife and I love the OPH! To top off the great fluffy omelets they have gluten free pancakes and waffles which we love. Everything is made fresh from scratch and they give you a very large portions of food. they probably won't like this but my wife and I quite often split an entree and there is plenty for us both.

First idea when you hear "Pancake house" is.... I bet they have GREAT PANCAKES!!!... WRONG!!!!!!..... The pancakes tasted like it was from Denny's (nothing special) and the scrambled eggs.... they were flat and literally scrambled into little pieces. What really bothered me about this restaurant were their Crepes.... they were soggy and really THICK!... If you have never eaten crepes before, do not start here...

Dood. For chuck's sake, you can't compare TOPH to a Michelin rated restaurant. I don't understand what some of these yelpers expect talking about service and wait time. It is everything you could want in a breakfast establishment. A little bit of a wait. Efficient service complete with those hand held order taker gadgets. An ample menu featuring large portions of yummy sweets and fluffy egg dishes. Hot coffee with speedy refills. I'll be back for the apple pancake...

My hubby went to U of Oregon so my first time at OPH was at one of the original locations in Eugene. I'm a breakfast freak so I was really looking forward to any place that has a rep for yummy pancakes. I wasn't disappointed and after that first meal there I was ruined for any other place. It's been years since then and thankfully I moved close to an OPH OC location in Laguna Hills and can get my pancake fix from the best whenever the hankering hits. The Swedish are my absolute fave, but the Pecan pancakes and the waffles are also awesome! Visit today and become an OPH faithful yourself!

Good food. Friendly service. I always go with my young boys for pancakes while the wife sleeps in. Service tends to be slower than it should be - the staff seems to like to chitchat in the kitchen while all the customers wait to be helped. However, it's still friendly service. The food is 4-star, but the service is 3-star. Food wins at a restaurant :)

Everything we ordered were fantastic! Service was really nice and pleasant. If going on a weekend, it's best to go before 10 a.m. otherwise be prepare to wait for you table-- at least this was my experience a couple of times but not when we went early and arrive at 9ish.. we were seated right away. I do think they are a bit pricey.

I was a little bummed to find out this wasn't actually the original original... what a crock. I guess I should have known...I won't hold it against them. I can make pancakes and french toast and all that at home... but I've never been able to make buckwheat pancakes that were good.... so I tried them out.. Good stuff! Plain of course, and not as wonderful as regular pancakes, but good enough to have again. I think next time I would order some additional sides or something, because 6 pancakes and nothing else is kind of boring.

Great food, but too crowded to make me want to go there as often as my stomach may request. I usually go to Jagerhaus for breakfast instead, since I can always get seated as soon as I arrive. But if you get up earlier than I, head over to Pancake House!

One day The Original Pancake House just magically appeared in a strip mall on Chapman. Unless you plan on enjoying brekkie super early in the morning, be prepared to wait. There is definitely a church crowd on Sundays. We waited about 20 or so mins and then were seated. Our waitress was prompt on taking our order but the food did take a while to get to our tables. There were people who ordered after us who got there food before us. The omelets are huge. My western omelet is a big mound of peppers, tomatoes, onion cheese and bacon. It also comes with a side of three buttermilk pancakes. I quickly asked for a to go box because I knew there was no way I could finish all the food in front of me. My omelet was good, a little overcooked but still good. Also because of all the food you get with your meal, its a pretty inexpensive deal.

I went here while visiting a friend in So Cal and I was so happy to learn that there is a location in Nor Cal too. There really wasn't anything special about TOPH...we had to wait to be seated and the food was nothing particularly special, but it was good. Standard, quality breakfast fare!

Pancakes sucks!!! Not fluffy, too much baking soda(smells when you eat it). Order banana pancakes, they blended the banana into the batter, couldn't taste the banana at all. Banana cakes are suppose to have slices of banana, at least that how I've had them. Best fresh squeeze OJ, but not for $5 (small). Egg Whites, cooked with way too much butter or margarine. Lingon berry, good but too sweet. Dutch cake(forgot what it's called), pretty interesting. Not worth the wait (not just for a table, also for food). My friend lives my the other one and goes there lots. He went here a couple of times and said the other location is better. I'll give the other a try, hopefully they won't disappoint.

In my opinion this restaurant offers basic breakfasts that are just a little bit better than Denny's, but at about twice the price. The OPH specialties not considered.

Ate here for first time at about noon today - less than 3 minute wait. The server, Linda, was outstanding - efficient and very prompt with the coffee refills! I had the corned beef hash and eggs, with a substitute Swedish pancake for the 3 buttermilk that come with it. Very tasty corned beef with real corn beef (not the canned hash kind) but not too chewy. The Swedish pancake cost $1.65 more and was one very large (plate covering) pancake with a small bowl of Lingonberries and a smaller bowl of powdered sugar. I wished the Lingonberries had been warmed since the cold berries made the pancake less than warm -- but next time I'll ask. My son had the Western Omelette -- as other reviewers have said, it was ginormous (5 eggs and very fluffy.) Also came with 3 buttermilk pancakes. You have to be really hungry to finish it! I'm definitely going back -- saw someone with the Dutch Baby, which looked fantastic. I'd love to try their sausage next time and maybe the blueberry pancakes. Very popular even at noon on a Saturday. They don't serve any lunch items -- but I'm a breakfast person anyway.

Prices too high for pancakes! Had the eggs benidict for ten dollars and had to ask for more holandaise sauce. Will not be back, feel like I was taken advantage of with no favors in return.

Amongst the best breakfasts I've ever had. We have eaten there twice now and only go back do the food because the service is terrible.

I love this place. If you love omeletes the size of the Honda Center, and pancakes piled high like the Capitol Records building, this is your place. The omelete is huge.. I dont know how they do it. But gosh, you get the best of both worlds here. The pancakes are delicious, and I'm just talking about the plan ones. They have flavored ones, you know blueberry, chocolate chip, etc. I could cut and paste this review for the Aliso Viejo location. They both do the trick and leave me stuffed like the fat pig that I am.

Good stuff. However, there is a difference between the food at this and the Lincoln location (I prefer Lincoln). But I would recommend both.

I thought this place couldn't get any worse! I usually don't go back to places I've had a bad experience at but I really wanted pancakes and I was in the neighborhood. It's been over a year since I've been here and I thought I'd give it another try. The hostess sat us at a table in the middle of the room and brought us our drinks. My friend and I sat and watched other groups order for almost 10 minutes before we waved down a manager and asked if we had a server. He walked over to the kitchen and asked the group of servers standing around if any of them had our table. You know you're in for a treat when the servers banter over who has to serve you. We finally got a waitress Linda (we think it's Linda because that's what it said on the receipt) who came to our table and took our orders awkwardly. Food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Had to ask for our pancake syrup. You'd think you automatically have maple syrup pre-staged at a pancake house. Not here! Linda dropped off our checks when we were only a few bites into our meals and when we were done and ready to pay, she was nowhere to be found. We had enough of this waiting game and I walked up to the kitchen and stopped a different server to help me cash out. TOPH of Orange, you now have negative points in my book!!

I'm not a breakfast fan, but the Original Pancake house is an awesome place. The service is good, as long as you don't go when it's insanely busy. That'll make you wait a long time, too. You can't really go wrong here. Pricing is great- I recommend the Pecan Pancakes.

Normally, I'm not a big fan of pancakes, but I'll make an exception for Original House of Pancakes. One of the best breakfast places that I've been to...way better than your regular IHOP. A group of us girls drove out to Orange for breakfast and we were stuffed at the end of the meal. What we called "The Baby" aka The Dutch Baby featured on Food Network was delicious. I ate the whole plate. I heard "The Baby" at the Original Original location in Anaheim is even better and larger so I will definitely try it next time. "The Baby" is not your ordinary flat pancake...it's a bigger version of, as my best friend called it an upside down hat pancake with sprinkled powder sugar. "The Baby" tasted fluffy and sweet in my mouth...no extra sugar needed. However, I added a touch of butter and maple syrup and it was perfection....a fantastic dessert for my breakfast meal. To Be Continue...upcoming sequel Og House of Pancakes Anaheim...Stay Tune :0)

pretty underwhelmed The service was quick, cold. The portions in relation to the prices do not make sense. Overpriced, mediocre (not bad) breakfasts. Ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. The plate looks half empty, not very substantial portions at all. The hash appears to be a homemade variety, but its mushy and not crisp enough. Maybe needs more grill time?

My wife and I have always enjoyed the food at the Original Pancake house, whether the location is in Anaheim, Las Vegas, Laguna Niguel or Orange. But, for some reason, I just can't get any respect at this location. We've been her twice and both times we had to depart without leaving the server a tip because she couldn't manage to deliver one of the items I ordered. We will come back to this location some day, but it will be the last chance for these folks to get my order right.

Quick stop here after showing a house in Orange Park Acres. The service was above most! The server always had a pleasant smile and others checked our table as well. The food was so good. No complaints. Yay for having strawberry syrup! Not a fan of maple. Ahhhh strawberry syrup, you make me smile. I like this location and set up better than some of the others. Very clean and did not feel like a big cramped room! I'll be coming here a lot!! :)

The 49er flap jacks are NOT the same so sad. They look different taste different, blah. Anaheim is hands down better. We only went this location because the wait was 20 min. Compared to 1 hr. At Anaheim, but now I know its worth the wait.

First of all, I'm a yelper....and this place disappointed BIGTIME! I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Breakfast and asked the waitress if it was alot of food. The waitress said it was and I said that I would like it. However, I got 2 small eggs, a 6" round patty of hash, and 3 6-inch pancakes. It was not alot of food. Although it was very good, but it was small as shit. My wife ordered the eggs benedict and liked them as well, but felt that the portions were small as well. Try Orange Cafe if you want a BREAKFAST!!!

Being budget conscious, I find this place to be ridiculously expensive for a simple breakfast. I had a breakfast of scrambled egg whites, hashbrowns, turkey bacon and coffee, and it set me back over $16.00. Gimme a break! There are much better choices for FAR less money.

Horrible service and high prices for average meal ... I'm not going back. I've been to other OPH's (Yorba Linda and Aliso Viejo) and liked them ... so was excited to take my girls here for a spring break treat while we happened to be in Orange on a Monday late-morning. Unfortunately this location (Orange) seems to be very poorly managed. It took over 10 minutes for our server to greet us at our table (and no one gave us water). By then we were ready to order and did so. 3 kids meals (1 order of pancakes and 2 orders of eggs and bacon) and I got the blueberry waffle. It took 20 minutes to get our food - and it didn't all come out at the same time. My waffle had about 12 blueberries in it (way too skimpy) and then the waitress brought me some blueberry syrup/compote. The over $8 waffle was only about 7 inches round and barely lukewarm. Most of this was brought out by someone other than our server, and the gal who brought out most of it looked to be in shorts and a t-shirt (i.e. not on a working shift). The food was all edible and ok - but nothing special and certainly not great. Our waters were never refilled, even after one of my kids asked. Once we were done with our meal I took my youngest to the bathroom and told the other kids to flag down the server so we could get our bill. When we came back the server still hadn't been around to our table. I finally flagged her down, and she quickly produced the bill. $37 for our 3 kids meals, 1 waffle and only one drink. I was astounded - what a ripoff. I quickly paid the bill - left a meager tip and left ... never to return. Perhaps IF the food had been amazing I could have forgiven the horrible service and inflated prices ... it did seem that they were short-staffed. But it would have been nice if the server had acknowledged us each time she walked by ... or at least explained to us why the service was so horrible. I did not see anyone that looked like a manager, so I couldn't even voice my concern. Instead, I'm voicing it here and warning you to be careful of this poorly managed restaurant location in Orange.

This is your typical breakfast joint. I have had their basic breakfast - bacon, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. I have also tried their pancakes, waffle, and ham and cheese omelet. My favorite item is their dutch baby. I like it with butter, lemon, and lots of powdered sugar. I don't care for syrup on it because I like a slightly crispy texture to it. I like the Aliso Viejo location over this location. Overall, the food is decent, and the dutch baby is a must try.

I was really looking forward to eating here especially after eating at the one in Las Vegas off of Cheyenne (Which has since been closed). We loved the one in Vegas. So of course, when we saw this one we were so excited!! Trust me, its not like the Vegas one. We had to wait to get a table, which is not unusual, but once we got seated, we waited ANOTHER 20 minutes before the waitress took our order!! By this time we were frustrated. When the food came out it was nothing like we ordered in Vegas. Is this the same chain? I mean, I thought I was going to The Original Pancake House...the same name as the other that I went to before. They should name this one The Second Original Pancake House.

The wife and I make it over here about once a month. Wecouldn't believe the low ratings because the food and service have been very good every time we've been there. They definitely needed more help and could have passed out some taste teasers on Father's Day but other than that this location is WAY better than the one on Moulton Parkway. Their menu selection is MUCH better as is the bacon and other ingredients.

I think the experience would have been better if the device was better. Server brought me orange juice when I got coffee and he didn't bring me my potatos but charged me for it. I would say you can probably get the same quality breakfast at McDonalds. The only good thing was the serving size of the omelette. OVERALL: skip it and go to Dennys

Great high end breakfast with 5 egg omelets and big portions. Best pancakes in town. There is a wait to be seated so bring a paper. The food takes a little while to cook since it is made from scratch so don't be in a hurry. My favorite is the Jim Special with German Potato Pancakes. Yum!! Yum!!

I absolutely love their 49er pancakes (so thin yet fluffy?) and their moist and fluffy blueberry pancakes... not to mention their coconut waffles with tropical syrup! YummO! Not convinced yet? Go ahead and try this place out~ Definitely wouldn't hurt to try~

Heard wonderful things about this place, and finally got to go with a group of family members for a celebratory breakfast. Each of us ordered something different, and everything was DELISIOUS!! I ordered the Apple Pancake, and was not disappointed. This monster is almost as big as the plate they bring it out on, and is loaded up with sliced Granny Smith apples, and a delicious crumbly, sticky sweet cinnamon glaze that complements everything perfectly. I've been warned that the place gets packed, and there is often a long wait to be seated, however, when we went, we were seated immediately, and received our food fairly quickly. We were told upon ordering that the omelets, and the apple pancake take a little longer to cook, so I was expecting to wait quite a bit longer. I will be going back to try some of the other wonderful items on the menu.

I'm not a fan of pancakes but the ones here are off the chart delicious! It's best to get to this restaurant early otherwise your going to be waiting a long time. As the place gets busier it's less consistent. My biggest complaint would be the price, items seem to be over priced.

I have never had a bad experience at this place. Being right around the corner from my house, I have had the Sunday morning hangover/wear your sunglasses indoors stumble in to this place on a few occasions. Although it is always busy so I have never been seated with less than a 10-15 minute wait, the food never disappoints. The staff are all usually friendly and accommodating and the worst I can say about the service is that they will occasionally forget to bring you a side item like your toast.

Wow, wow, wow yummy for your tummy food!!! Before we moved we were at TOPH every Sunday morning to start our week off right. Over all our visits we tried almost everything they offer on their menu and not one thing was horrible. Their bacon is to die for. Nice thick bacon that just melts in your mouth. If you get the omelet be prepared for leftovers for a couple of days. It is HUGE in size & flavor. All the pancakes/crepes/dutch babies melt in your mouth. You always have to wait on the weekends but believe me it is worth every minute you wait! We miss this place terribly... still looking for a replacement in CO.

I love the Pancake House, but just not this one located in Orange... Dutch baby is great and thats what I had, except I didnt order the big chunk of metal pan washing pad that was mixed in with it... I was looking for the manager to come to show him when one of the ghetto "chef's" or cook came over and asked what was wrong, I showed him the chunk of metal and he immediately took it away and said he wouldnt charge me for the dutch baby, but the kitchen was closed so basically TOO BAD! He was obviously trying to hide away from me telling the manager, So disgusted with the place I left, never to return again.... The one on Lincoln is the only one I will be eating at from now on...

I had to make an account to say how much of an uppity, ungrateful bitch Kat S. must be to hate on this place. From her other reviews, it's obvious nothing will ever be good enough for the princess, how sad. Don't let the neg reviews discourage you on OPH in Orange. I went this morning to get some bacon pancakes and they were absolutely wonderful! The wait was not something I encountered, I was in and seated in under 2 minutes (with a full wait line in the lobby) and had my food along with my son's in under 10. How's that for service? Our waitress was very courteous, refilled both our drinks without ever having to be asked, and made sure we were enjoying our meal the entire time. It's places like these that should make IHOP/Denny's ASHAMED to even be open for business. Definitely hit up The Original Pancake House!

My sis and I decided to check this place out yesterday because we heard that it is the "original" Original Pancake House. We regularly go to the YL location so thought it was time to check out the original location. The restaurant looks like it's been just recently remodeled. The decor was very modern and the restaurant was clean. We arrived close to 1pm and missed the lunch crowds so we were seated right away. They did not have any vanilla flavored creamer which was a disappointment to us because the YL location always has vanilla creamer. We ordered our usuals, dutch baby for me, and ham and cheese omelette for my sis. The dutch baby was a lot thicker than what I get at the YL location but still good. The ham and cheese omelette had lots of diced ham, yum! Overall, the food was good however I think I'm going to stick to the YL location. A girls gotta have her creamer!

To start with this location is WAY better than the one on Lincoln in Anaheim. Parking was a breeze and we were seated as soon as we walked in( got there around 12:45 on a Sunday) The service was ok. The only real complaint is that the food took so long and noone came and checked on it until we asked. The food was vrey good when it arrived The little kids swallowed their kids menu chocolate chip pancakes and one piece of Canadian bacon( the bacon was alacarte) Our big girl really liked her pumkin pancakes off of the regular menu too( she had the other two pieces of the bacon) Hubby had the Irish omlette and a side order of ham steak. That was the thickest ham steak I've ever seen! Both were good, he said. I loved the Dutch Baby! Ultra rich dense eggy goodness... not to menyion the lemon, butter and powdered sugar you can add if you wish. The drinks were a little expensive tho. No real complaints. It was good and we will be back!

I love this place. I have never had a problem with service and the food is worth the buck! My favorite thing on the menu is bacon waffles... YUM! I urge you to try em! This new location is conveniently located. But be warned, prepare to wait for an hour or more on Saturday and Sunday mornings!

For many in Orange this modest little eatery is a bit of nostalgia but don't fool yourself, the delectable pancakes keep us returning again and again! There is an Anaheim location that has been around lots of years. When I was a kid that's where I went with Mom and Dad. It's still a bustling place. There is an Orange location that is closer to me and my hubbie so we go there to enjoy the breakfast delights. A must try is their big apple pancake. Baked fresh to order, it is one huge puffy pancake and couched within it's center is a generous mountain of gooey, buttery, cinnamon-spiced apples that would have Grandma asking for the recipe. Many other unique pancake dishes can be found here as well as eggs, omelettes, waffles, french toast, crepes and even some specials that are easy on the wallet. All is quality and pleasing to the tummy. There is only one issue that I can find with this wonderful pancake heaven. With a generous plate of mouth-watering pancakes you will get a very tiny cup that holds a scoop of butter smaller than a baby's eye ball! I love butter and love to saturate my cakes with it but even someone that likes it a bit less than I would likely have their server fetching them some more. Fortunately, the servers are friendly and attentive and will do so with a smile. Just give us a little more and cut down on the leg work! With all that good food the skimpy butter dilemma is a minor problem. Please try this place, It will become a favorite, I just know it will!

After my Photography Class I stopped by on Sat. Morning. It was very crowed but I managed to get a table. The Service was excellant and I ordered the Dutch Baby. I was delicous!!! and a side of bacon. What a wonderful meal. The omelets are fuffy and large. Enough for two people. A great breakfast.....

A truly wonderful breakfast. I ordered coffee, pancakes and bacon. I asked if I could get the bacon crispy and it was wonderful, especially since it was thick bacon. Pancakes were awesome. I should not have eaten all of them, but I could not stop myself. I got there around 8:15am. You need to get there early, they pack the tables pretty tight and it gets crowded.

Excellent choice of breakfast menu. Love the Danish Kijafa, and of course the pancakes are wonderful. Went on a Saturday morning, the wait was about 35 minus long. The service was okay. Would go back again.

Since the Anaheim location is always crowded, we tried the Orange location to see if it was as good. It wasn't. The "Dutch baby" (closest to the "German pancakes" we get in Anaheim, but smaller) came with only about 25% of the lemon and powdered sugar as we have been supplied at both Anaheim and Yorba Linda locations. The "Dutch baby" was smaller and thicker than the German (not on the Orange locations menu). The servers at the Anaheim location are some of the best, professional servers almost anywhere. Our server in Orange was not up to the standards of the other location. That said the main reason we visited this location was hopes for a shorter wait time, which we were happy to have received. So if you don't care to have a German like @ the Anaheim location or you can ration you lemons and want to be seated quickly, (compared to Anaheim, which is a much smaller restaurant) then this place will take good care of you.

Booo!!! Went to the OG Pancake House on Sunday morning and found a line out the door and more than a 1 hour wait! Baby T couldn't handle waiting an hour for breakfast, so we had to leave. My quest to try the OG Pancake House is left unsatisfied yet again. So 1 star for now, but I shall return. ***Update 6/30**** Ok I finally, got to eat here after 3 tries. The wait was only 20 minutes, yay! We decided the trick was to come late so that less people are there eating breakfast, so either come really early or come at 1:30pm or later on Sat or Sun. We got seated right away and noticed lots of families here. It's definitely a family place. Arnold ordered the apple pancake, two eggs, and sausage patties, I ordered the corned beef hash with the short stack of pancakes. My corned beef was made from scratch with real corned beef not from the can. The potatoes were more like mashed and not cubed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I did notice however that since they used real corned beef brisket, I had a few grisly hard pieces of beef that I had to spit out, but no big deal. My pancakes were perfect, nice size and tasted delicious. We actually got lucky and one of the consultants of two WI OG pancake houses was walking by our table and noticed Arnold taking pictures of the food so he asked if we were spies or something. We of course, told him about yelp and we actually had one of those yelp cards and we gave it to him and he was happy we would be promoting the place. Especially if it's free promotion, what business wouldn't want it. The manager came up to us also and he gave us a free Dutch Baby which is one of their specialties. We gladly took it and it was pretty good. It's definitely more like a souffle where you can taste the egginess and it's not too sweet. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's for everyone. Oh and we also got our juices comped since we waited a bit for our food. This place is definitely good for a leisurely breakfast, they make everything from scratch and it's all made to order so you definitely wait for your food, but I think it's worth it.

Delicious! I had the bacon waffle and it was amazing! I felt like a fat kid afterwards but its okay. The wait was loonnnnnng but i was expecting it. I wouldn't be able to have this everyday cause i would literally be a million pounds but i would most certainly come again! Portions are huggggggggge. Oh an don't forget to get a side of home fries! Crisp cubes of potatoes and slightly seasoned.... droooooool your stomach will thank me later!

A place I have had the pleasure of eating at all my life. I have often described this place as the "Krispy Kremes" of pancakes. The buttermilk pancakes are simply amazing. Warm, gooey melt in your mouth texture with whipped butter on top. They have a plethora of other pancake styles as well as pancakes of the world (try the German pancake, large, fluffy with fresh squeezed lemon and powdered sugar on top.) There are two locations in Orange County, one in Yorba Linda and one in Anaheim. The wait can be long at times and the service can be short and impersonal, but the pancakes make it worth it!

Overprice for the food...nothing came with sides...we had to order things on the side just to fill us up...order a spinach crepe...which was pretty good...also had the eggs bene...not to my expectation...eggs were hard boiled...very stingy on the hollandaise sauce....canadian bacon could be bigger...had the biscuits and gravy...cold....waffle...okay...service...like molasses...maybe should try the pancakes since it is a pancake house...

The last time it was really busy but this time the wait was about 10 minutes (we came at 10:30 am on a Saturday). So I ordered the mushroom omelette (3 buttermilk pancakes comes along with it) and a small OJ. My friend ordered the 49ers flap jack, side of eggs (over hard) and large apple juice. When the waitress brought out my OJ, I thought it was kid size. I had to drink it very slowly because I doubt they give refills, should have ordered the large which looked like a regular small. I like Omelette house because their OJ is like a large for the price of a small. The waitress said the omelette would take about 15 minutes. I'm thinking the pancakes would come out first. But everything even my friends meal came out at the same time. The omelette was so-so nothing spectacular. I wouldn't order this again. The buttermilk pancake was really good though. For some reason it tasted as if there was some alcohol in there. Maybe it's my taste buds. But I'd definitely order the buttermilk again IF it taste like alcohol again. My friends flap jack fell flat. It taste toooooo eggy and it was too thin just like crepe but nothing else on it. I like my crepe with ice cream and fruits. The bill came out to be about $30. To me, that's pricey for what we ate. For that price we were able to eat 2 new york steak with eggs, hashbrowns and toast w/ a big OJ at Omelette house. Back to the Omelette house!

I have heard such RAVE reviews about this place from a number of people so I thought I should try it out. Well first off..its in a strip mall and the inside is very unappetizing. It is small and there is absolutely NO privacy. The service was nice and I ordered the original buttermilk pancakes. I thought that the price was decent..not to much not to little but I was not impressed by the pancakes at all. Maybe I had too high of expectations but they did not impress at all. I can make better at home and save my money. This is a ONE TIME ONLY place for me! Oh well. But, if I ever go back I will try the "Dutch Baby"

Their food has been pretty consistent. I've ordered different items every time, and they were always tasty. Service is slow and the wait is long, but this is one of the only place that I'll deal with. All of the pancakes were amazing and the omlettes are great as well.

Been there a few times and never been disappointed. If you want a varied assortment of pancakes made with good ingredients, then this is the place. My favorite are the buckwheat pancakes and a side of bacon. But, the baked apple pancake keeps getting my attention but I just don't think I could finish it. The standard order is six pancakes, which are about twice what I can eat and a side of bacon that includes four thick oven crispy slices. Best bacon ever that I have found in a restaurant. They also serve Dietrich's coffee and if you ask for cream it is the thick creamy stuff. A great gourmet cup of java. The service is friendly with a courteous staff. It gets a little busy and the young staff sometimes just forgets to set the table or needs prompting for more coffee, but they are always friendly and take care of business with an apology. They are good everyday neighborhood folk. As far as downsides; I just don't eat as much as I used to and unfortunately, they do not have half servings of pancakes as do most restaurants. But in all fairness, that is not enough to take them off my list. If you are a pancake lover then you just got to go and check them out!

UPDATE: They have gotten much quicker with their service. You still have waits to be seated on busy days, but the service after you have been seated has improved BIG TIME. Five stars! Would be 5 stars if they weren't so slow bringing the food out. Be prepared to wait about 30 mins for your delicious breakfast to come out from the kitchen. Long waits on weekends.

Mmmmm eggs florentine! OPH has my favorite hollandaise sauce. I usually hate hollandaise because it's too buttery or heavy, but OPH has the perfect recipe. I really like their coffee here too. Simple yet satisfying. Their Fresh Strawberries Belgium Waffles is awesome! Crispy yet soft with sweet, sweet strawberries. I ordered the vegetable omelette once. It was really good but gigantic! Could feed four people! Place is clean, always busy and service is a hit or miss. For the most part, the service is decent. Some servers are much friendlier than others.

I love the Original pancake house, I've gone to the one in Yorba linda a few times and this was my first time at the Orange location. This one is much bigger and more comfy. We came in 30 minutes before closing ,which can be a bad thing but our food was just as fresh as if I came in 4 hrs before closing. This visit ordered the Spinach crepe with the hollandaise sauce on the side, comes with 4 potato pancakes and a side of sausage patties. The spinach crepe was good, good amount of chopped sauteed onions, mushrooms ,spinach and cheese. The potato cakes were awesome, thinly fried potato pancake , it was like hashbrowns but better, an awesome crisp to it. The sausage patties were good, no complaints with that. The staff was aight, just there to work not to personable but not rude either. This place is solid breakfast food from sweet to savory and I've had nothing but consistent happiness from eating at the Original Pancake house!

Very good breakfast food, but strip mall atmosphere. The same yummy goodness as at other OPH locations, but since this is a newer restaurant in a strip mall it just doesn't have the wholesome, retro feel of the older stand alone locations. Mary Jo is a solid waitress - direct but helpful, and everything came quickly. She had no problem bringing extra plates and syrups so we could share our food. FOOD: Blueberry pancakes: The bomb. Seriously, these are awsome. Chocolate chip pancakes: Very good pancakes with chocolate chips and whipped cream on top, but not very breakfasty - more like dessert. Coconut pancakes: OK. I didn't care for the tropical syrup (pineapple), but they were good with the maple syrup or chocolate syrup. Veggie omelette: Loaded with cheese, but this one was much smaller than omelettes I've had at the Redondo Beach or Rockville locations. Usually they cover the whole plate, but this only covered half the plate - still a lot of omelette. TIP: If you order an omelette it comes with 3 buttermilk pancakes. For $1 extra, you can upgrade to fancier pancakes.

good service and great food! at excellent prices. minus one star because of the wait time, but overall, great selection of breakfast foods that taste delicious. would return.

Large orange juice is not that big. I watered it down with ice from my water glass. No hash browns here. The bacon waffles were so bitter, I added lingonberries to them. If you were in a wheelchair I don't think you'd be able to reach the faucet across the deep sink in the women's bathroom. The coffee gave my boyfriend diarrhea. The Swedish pancakes should have come with powdered sugar. They were square! There is a private room inside if you need a space to hold a breakfast meeting. There was no wait when I showed up on a weekday morning.

Expansion without consistency. After several years of visiting the Yorba Linda and Aliso Viejo, I felt I couldn't go wrong with this spruced-up version of a neighborhood classic. The dinning experience: a nice, clean and fairly spacious interior. Pleasant improvement from the IHOP look I'm accustomed to. There waiting areas are always better than most places that accommodate larger groups of 6-8. Very family friendly. The service: servers were pleasant, sometimes forgetful, but always nearby to help. Refills were plentiful as were small requests during the meal. Presentation: it seems silly, but when I pay $10 for some sausage links and scrambled eggs, I expect a little more than a careless toss of food onto a plate that could have fit twice the portions. Usually OPH dishes arrive with little space on the plates to fit more than a fork. The food: it's good. It seemed a bit sub-par to the other locations but it was pretty much the same. Seating and serving were quick, and small improvements could make this place a 4-star!

I went to this restaurant with my sisters for breakfast. Like I've said before, being vegan, going to breakfast restaurants are less to be desired. So I asked if the potatoes could be made vegan and expressed that I am vegan. She then informed me that the pancakes can be made not only gluten free, but dairy free! She informed me that they are made with water instead of milk. They are unable to make the potatoes vegan but I ordered the pumpkin pancakes without the whipped cream. I also had the option of fruit and oatmeal without the cream but I decided against it. The pancakes were good. They seemed A LITTLE undercooked but they were good. (it was the texture and I'm sure its from making the pancakes with water) My only issue w the service and it wasn't even that big of a deal was the water glasses are small and I really wanted a refill but it took awhile. Other than that, or waitress was very helpful.

Good parking. Good service. Good blueberry pancakes, in fact, you can substitute buttermilk pancakes as the side when ordering eggs benedict! Bad baked apple pancake. The crust/bottom felt rubbery and was bland.

Oh effff me! whoever thought it was a good idea to cook bacon in a waffle has a sick sick mind... Seriously?!?! ohhhhh man!!! I almost Punched someone eating that Crispy, Soft, Buttery plate of deliciousness, Order a side of sausage, and some eggs and you might as well walk into the kitchen and give the cook dirty looks for preparing you this amazing feast!! Fresh Orange juice too?!?! not that concentrate stuff either, Im talking about Oranges (the ones that grow in trees) cut in half, and probably thrown in a juicer of some sort, and poured into a glass then served to you, Why are you spoiling meee??? And the bacon slices are super thick too?!! can i just die now? Oh i will return again... The Original pancake house has not seen the last of me!

Went here today for the first time on my early birthday/monthsary with my girl. These guys redefine the meaning of pancakes. It looked really bizzy at first, but when we got inside we were seated immediately as well as served with our beverages quickly. Service was really friendly and a heavy coffee drinker like me was always topped with a full cup. The ambience is nice and homey with the smell of dough, butter, eggs, and coffee filling the air. Great for families or gatherings but if ur on the go and needa be somewhere, be ready to wait 15-20 min. (which is worth) I got the apple pancake, which was really sugary and cinnamony (in a great way). After passing the half way point and finishing the apple topping, the dough started to taste very eggy but that was the hint on not to finish all of it. My girl got the Dutch baby, a very interesting twist on a pancake with a crusty fortress bordering the outside. U gotta add the butter, lemon, juice, and powdered sugar to get the full effect of this baby. To sum it all up: this place back hands ihop

OMG a place which really makes all of their yummy food from scratch? Come and just have the normal pancake...the one you would get at Denny's or Ihop and you will understand about what you been missing for such a long time .... this is crazy good and you could return each time to try one different version of their so many different pancakes, waffles, crepes and those SPECIALTIES!!!! they are a MUST!!! I gave them 5 stars because most can be made gluten free!!! And the service are terrific!! Christy was there pouring fresh hot coffee for us and made sure we got everything we wanted before coming back again to refill our cup of coffee! Coming back again for good service and for real pancakes, never ever will be go back to D or IH even though they are just 5 minutes away from home, I rather drive to get the best of what sweet breakfast should be!

I never ever, ever order pancakes. Never. Why? I get disappointed. Its either too rubbery, or too dense, or a little too.. I think the best way to describe it is.... "blah." Choosing to order pancakes at the Original Pancake House made me a bit uneasy, but I was optimistic since "pancakes" is in the name of their establishment. One bite, and I was blown away. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes. Pancakes so soft and fluffy you don't really have to cut them with a knife. The flavor was really great. Nice, buttery, pumpkin flavor that wasn't too overpowering and some cinnamon as well. It melted in my mouth. Addition of butter even heightened the flavor, and rounding it off with a dollop of their amazing (and very sweet) maple syrup made these pancakes, were hands down, THE BEST I EVER HAD. They gave me 6 small ones- the flavor was so much I only ate half. I also tried some of the buttermilk pancake, and you could really taste the buttermilk. It was packed with copious amounts of flavor in the small square I tired. I also tried some of a ham and cheese omelette. It was quite large(and also comes with a side of pancakes). They must have used so many eggs for it. I noticed it was also very very fluffy. The eggs themselves did not have much flavor, and the ham was overly salty. There also wasn't much cheese at all. It was quite disappointing to taste next to the pancakes. The orange juice is freshly squeezed. It also tastes delicious. The portions are huge. They are so big in fact, two people could share one meal. Be aware they charge a $1 split fee. Service is okay. We were almost served the wrong food once. I don't even think an orange juice was ever ordered- they just put it on ours. I say, the server just lacked experience. It did take a long time after the money was put down for the bill for the server to come back. Also the decor.. it looks like they half-assed. It is kind of like they are going for the Americana diner look, but it feels like a Dennys (but I'm glad they don't taste like one!) I only wish the eggs were better and the service was better to give this place a solid 5 stars. I would even overlook what I think of the decor.

Screw you Original Pancake House and your retarded food. I just wanted to punch someone after leaving, but I could barely move because I was so full from all the deliciousness. Andy M. and I cannot go anywhere without ordering enough food for 4 people when it's just the two of us. Bacon waffle, cheese omelet [which comes with a side of 3 pancakes], bacon, and sausage. Now if these were normal sized portions then this wouldn't seem so bad, but they're not! The bacon waffle is just a stupid as it sounds, chunks of cut up bacon in a crispy on the outside/soft on the inside waffle. Cover that shiz up in butter and syrup and let your inner fat kid smile. The omelet was oozing with cheese, just how I like anything that comes with cheese, and it wasn't some plastic gross American cheese. You had a choice of aged cheddar or swiss, I opted for the cheddar, and you could actually taste how good the cheese really was. And the pancakes that came with the omelet, these kind of blew me away. As soon as they put down the plate I could smell the yeast, and it was so warm and yummy, but I couldn't figure out exactly what it smelled like until I took a bite. My pancakes tasted like a fucking pretzel. I kid you not, they were so delicious that I actually started to get mad. Fucking pancakes. Bacon & sausage were both really good too. I like my bacon thick and slightly undercooked, and this was perfect. Good coffee & fresh squeezed OJ topped off everything. Service was a bit bland, our waitress brought over our check when we were not even half way through our meal which was weird cause she kept walking by and looking at the check that we hadn't put down cards for yet. Give us a bit, we're trying to enjoy your retarded pancakes. And I had to ask for a coffee refill at the very end of the meal because she eventually had stopped walking by us all together. No water refills either. I really can't wait to come back though. Just gotta give myself a bit of time before I go into another food coma.

Deserves nothing but a 3 star.... - overly priced for breakfast ... for two people we spent $40 call me cheap but I would rather use that $40 for a well fed lunch or dinner ty. The pancakes wasn't a lot though in the menu it sounded like they were gigantic. - the waiter seem a little pushy and handed our receipt before we were finish our meal. on the bottom of the receipt it had an estimate of how much it would cost for a 15% tip, 20% tip or 25%... So what if I wanted to tip 10%, isn't it up for me to decided. Plus it was crappy service. If you didn't want to work there than maybe the waiter should find another job. - But I would have to say their banana pancakes are enjoyable. So that's why I gave them a 3 star and their bathroom is very clean :)

I came soooo excited for my annual Apple Pancake, our post-Christmas tradition. They're out!!! I'm so sad. It's their signature dish and they ran out at 8:30AM on a Tuesday. Poor planning, and unapologetic. :-) This location is usually much better and more comfortable than the Yorba Linda location. I've been very happy here in the past.

Four stars for the food and service,.Had a quick breakfast before dropping off my Hubby at the airport. This location is inside a mini mall structure so its not an actual separate building. Walked in and we were seated right away in a booth. Large windows letting a lot of light in and a see thru kitchen you can see into when standing, the decor was very plain and boring. The ladies restroom had a foul smell and it wasn't from a guest, it seemed to be a sewage smell, just awful. Our server was very cool, friendly & extremely helpful. We ordered the jims special with upgraded side of blueberry pancakes and then an Irish omelette with an upgraded side of biscuits & gravy. The food came our quickly and there was lots of it. The jims special was hhhhhuge! Scrambled eggs with Bacon & sausage ( usually served with ham but I requested extra sausage) also had mushrooms and salsa with some seasonings and cheddar cheese. I liked it a lot but had to box up 80% of it since it was so big. The upgraded side of blueberry pancakes were delicious, the compote was overly sweet so I only placed a tiny drop on each bite. The Irish omlette consisted of corned beef hash and cheese which was good but the eggs themselves were slightly overcooked. The biscuits and gravy were delicious . With the specialty pancakes being sold alone, I suggest upgrading the plain pancakes you receive with certain dishes, it a couple dollars extra compared to the specialty pancakes being $11 on their own and then adding sides which seem really expensive on their own. Overall we enjoyed the food, better than Ihop or dennys.

We went here after go hiking. Ordered beef corn harsh and an egg & ham for breakfast. Beef corn harsh tastes okay, not a 'wow' taste to suprise me, just OK. For the egg & ham, we found a grey hair inside the ham. Besides, it tastes quite dry for the ham. Don't mind to go for getting some food after doing an exercise. But definitely will pass this place if it needs to wait in the line.

Excellent spot for breakfast. Came here on a busy weekend for brunch and was seated within 10 minutes. The waitress was friendly as she took our order and brought us our food. The menu is pretty extensive so I had a tough time deciding what to get. They have traditional fluffy pancakes, specialty pancakes, waffles, crepes, omelets, and egg breakfast plates. Ultimately I went with the Jim's Special: bacon, sausage, ham, cilantro, eggs topped with cheese and fresh pico de gallo. What a massive plate of food. They must have used like 8 eggs just for my order. It also came with 3 pancakes on the side. I managed to eat about half and took the rest home with me. It was tasty though, and I'd order it again.

My girlfriend and I had a craving for pancakes in the middle of the day. Since there are no good breakfast places in Irvine, we ventured out to orange. Surprisingly, not a long wait on the weekend. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and the banana pancakes. I personally really liked the banana pancakes, but I didn't get any bananas until the second pancake or so. About 80% of the way through, I started wanting a variation in my palate. It would be nice if their pancakes came with eggs or sausages or something else. Still, a solid 4 stars for being the closest breakfast joint in Irvine that's not IHOP or Denny's.

Score! Got here at 9:40 on a Sunday morning and there was no waiting. But, 10 minutes later, boom, line at the door. We knew of OPH from our local stores in Denver Colorado, and, we always check Yelp for reviews. Great food ( and a lot of it ) , great service and good prices.

I've been to the YL restaurant several times and when they opened this one here in Orange I kept telling myself I had to go but then (as it happens) it kinda fell off my radar! This weekend my BFF was in town visiting and had a hanckering for pancakes so I remembered that the OPH was there so off we went to check it out! She ordrered the hash w/eggs and some pancakes while I got a Dutch Baby w/an egg on the side-- gotta squeeze that protein in somewhere. ;-) She LOVED her hash and pancakes! My Dutch Baby was a Dutch Bomb -- soo gooey and delish w/lots of lemon flavor and powdered sugar. Just as good as I remembered from the YL one! The only downside is they don't offer a combo fo dutch baby w/eggs or anything -- it'd be nice to have that option like they do with the regular pancakes and not to have order it on the side. Oh well, guess I can't have it all huh? ;-) Oh almost forgot.. the food here comes out SUPER fast! We literally got our food within 5 minutes of ordering and the place was pretty full so not sure how they do it but I was impressed! :-)

Breakfast in Orange County. Lest you suffer the understanding that this region surrounds itself with chains and strips, take solace in this place's existence. Yes, there's more than one, but less than some -- others. Food: Good. Got the mushroom omelet, and it was fluffy. Waitress was attentive with coffee refills.

I ordered the gluten free pancakes... I'm celiac, and I was sick for 2 days. Totally disappointed. While I'm well aware of the risks of eating out, but I don't advertise advertising gluten free if you're not careful. Yes, I'm certain it was from here. If you go, the gluten free pancakes should be darker in color than non-gluten free, almost like multi-grain. It was my first try at eating gluten free pancakes, so I didn't know what to look for. But until I was sick, they were VERY GOOD!

I came here on a Saturday at brunch/lunchtime and the wait was not bad. I get my usual corned beef hash, sunny side up eggs, and my choice of 3 pancakes. Service is prompt and courteous. The place is almost always packed so you won't be doted on like a 5 star restaurant. My mouth is still watering at the thought of the food. I may go back in the morning.

So, going to the newest "restaurant" opened in a stripmall ranks pretty low on my list of things to do. I've actually been kind of avoiding this place. My favorite OPH in YLinda kinda bummed me out recently so I thought it was time to try this new one. BTW it IS a different owner than Anaheim and Y Linda Loc's. Was actually kinda shocked how nice it was. The place is about as upscale as you can create in a stripmall without going to extremes. They have a private dining room for 15-40 that can be reserved, otherwise used as regular dining space. Heavy table settings with cloth napkins. Nice big waiting area with 2 flat screens. Booths, 1/2 booths and tables. Our Apple Pancake and 49er's came out perfect. A little bit of a wait for the Apple Pancake as always. Our waitress kept our drinks full and let us know our food should be up anytime now. Our server, Kiersten, was great. They have a hi-tech wireless order system that I have never seen before. I'd give them 5 stars if not for one thing I noticed. Probably wouldn't say anything here either but, kinda hoping the owner might see this comment: We sat in one of the booths under the kitchen window glass. There are already signs that attention to cleaning detail would fix. Small spots of sticky stuff, crayon marks, dust collecting on the edge of the wood trim, a loose lampshade ready to fall off, booth behind me missing lamp shade, etc. No need to let this place go already. Attention to detail like this makes your customers feel special and keeps the restaurant seeming new and clean for years to come. It would be such a bummer to be sitting here 2 years from now thinking what the hell happen to this place? But hey - the food and service is great though!

My gosh, where do I begin!! The pancake house is a tradition in my friend group! We always love it! The food is delicious and the service is always served with a smile! Prices are a little more than reasonable but sometimes it's a little rediculous.. I ordered a side of sausage and it came with 3 links for 6 dollars!!!! But other than that, I highly recommend it!! Soo yummy!

Since it's a chain I didn't expect it to be exceptional nor horrendous. So as expected my meal there was of course acceptable. It was good enough to satisfy my random morning cravings of corned beef hash.

Ok. This was rated highest for breakfast closest to the soccer tournament we were at. Good sized portions for three large boys. But, one of the Jim"s scramble was overcooked as was the one omelet ordered in our group. They did sit us quickly though ( party of seven ) and the waitress was great.

  • Michelle A.

This place was way too expensive for what it was. I don't even think my pancakes were cooked all the way. I have two small children that don't eat full meals so I got them 2 sides of sausage that cost ten dollars! I will never be going back to this location again.

    (1)
  • Nancy D.

Okay I feel that this place is a bit over rated. I tried their pumpkin pancakes with bacons. The pancake is so-so. However, the bacon sucks . I know it is thick cut bacon but gosh darn it is so hard to chew or swallow it. I would recommend y'all to go to Polly's for breakfast and it has bigger portions with better quality food.

Sorry Orange pancake house.... Anaheim has you beat. Being a franchise restaurant your gonna see differences, I know. The dutch pancake is great especially at anaheim because it's not the baby version. you dont want to order this as your first and only meal here. It takes a maturity that many do not have. it is a totally different "pancake" experience. The baby at orange is still good, but they REALLY skimp on the Lemons & Powdered Sugar -not a good plan. The eggs at anaheim were, and I think, still are the best cooked/prepared in the world, cooked just right, and never burnt. Although my wife has gotten pretty good at it using olive oil, I think the anaheim location uses clarified butter and a special separate griddle so they were always perfect. I think orange has lost this art -even if they ever had it. in spite of the flaws the orange location is still one of the best breakfasts around.

This is a newer cleaner version of Original Pancake House with definitely half the wait of the Anaheim OPH. They also have some things on the menu that aren't at the anaheim one. I tried Jim's Special and it was AWESOME! 5 stars there. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it's not the anaheim one the waitress didn't come by to check up on coffee and water refills. I would definitely recommend this place if the Anaheim one is busy :)

We came in a little after 6am as we had to have an early start to the day. The door was open, there were two other customers. As we were seated, the guy informed us that they were not ready yet and something about the sign was supposed to change to 6.30am for their opening hours but was not changed or somewhere along the line. I may have misunderstood so I don't know. Our food came to us at around 6.25am. Of course we had pancakes and the pancakes are really good. My friend swore by the pancakes here and I think he's right. The pancakes were fluffy and didn't taste like it came from a box mix that I could easily get at home. I asked for eggs over easy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. It's a good place to have breakfast pancakes. I think I'll stick to this place rather than Denny's or IHOP, thank you very much! :)

The food here is pretty good, but the service is top-notch. Have been coming here for business meetings for several months now and the staff makes it a point not only to remember my order, but to also ask about my family. In our fast-paced world, it's nice to have a nearby restaurant that somehow still retains a neighborhood vibe. Oh, and the pumpkin pancakes are a personal fave!

This is _the_ breakfast joint around here. I've now been to The Original Pancake House three times, and every time I've been very satisfied. I've had, in order, a Jim's Special, a plate of Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, and Eggs Benedict. Each came with three, half-sized pancakes. Full marks for all three meals, with a bonus gold star for the Eggs Benedict. Their hollandaise is seriously good, and their cook can poach a mean egg. Also, the pancakes they give you on the side aren't just throw-ins, they're legitimately awesome. A small side point: their coffee is actually really good. It's got some nice body to it, and it is definitely a perk that has me going back in addition to their delicious breakfast fare. The only downside? You will wait upwards of a half an hour on weekends and holidays. It's enough to deter me, because I'm usually pining for an immediate caffeine fix when I go out for breakfast. I normally turn up on weekdays, to avoid the rush.

The Skinny: Went to a Pancake House, but didn't really try the pancakes. Yeah yeah yeah...call me an idiot, but I wasn't feenin' for pancakes at that moment in time. I don't regret getting that Mushroom Omelette I ordered though! What's Good: The Mushroom Omelette was GINORMOUS! (I found out that that's a legit word now haha.) They must have used like 10 eggs or like an egg from a friggen' ostrich or something. It kind of reminded me of that Dave Chappelle episode with the T-Rex egg haha. Anyways! The omellete was topped with this FANTASTIC Mushroom Gravy and came with 3 Mini Buttermilk Pancakes on the side. I definitely recommend the omellete! Add Spinach too if you dig that because it was BOMB. What Sucked: The service was so slow. My computer back in '95 that ran on dial-up was faster than that. Geezuz. There were hardly any other customers there too. I'm never a fan of places that make you wait long, especially when there's hardly anyone around. Their buttermilk pancakes were just whatever. If you blindfolded me and fed me those frozen pancakes you can get from the store, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference. In the End... I still the give the place a pretty good rating, because it really was good. But it didn't give me a memorable first impression to make me want to come back. Deuces!

Reluctant, at first, I was quite impressed at the cleanliness of the restaurant; the menus and tables didn't feel grimey and sticky as other pancake houses I've visited. Despite it being very busy, the staff (from the smiling and professional hostess, to our efficient server, to the manager) was impressively attentive and pleasant! For a casual-style eatery (served in plastic glasses & plates), the food was tasty and even nicely presented. Love their thin, tender stack of 49'er Flap Jacks!!!

I went to the Anaheim OHOP location and was REALLY disappointed compared to my experience at this Orange location. Food taste better, got little extras such as mushroom gravy for my omelette and cream cheese topping for my pumpkin pancakes, easier parking, quicker service, larger tables, etc...

2 words..."DUTCH BABY!!" yes, you must try that as it's a very unique type of pancake. Served with a side of lemon and powdered sugar, you mouth will be in foodgasm heaven while you try to figure out what's tickling your taste buds. If you're not in the mood for pancakes, they also serve up generous portions of omelets, or even your everyday bacon & eggs or sausage & eggs. Might I add, their bacon are THICK CUT and cooked to perfection. Another favorite dish is their Cornbeef Hash! DELISH!! If you're going with a group of friends or even for a party of 2-hungry people, I'd suggest substituting your side of pancakes for a side of POTATO PANCAKES... Served with a side of homemade applesauce & sour cream. (i'm droooling over my keyboard right now) I feel like i've listed almost everything they have available, but surprisingly...there's MORE!! They open as early as 5:30am or 6:00am and close at 2:00pm, so better try to get out there early...as the wait time can get LONG. This place is definitely for the hungry! A MUST GO!!!

Plenty of parking in the lot, but plenty of wait on a Sunday morning. Its a popular place after church and soccer games. This place was pretty packed. The pancakes were delicious. The crepes were ok, a little thick. Potato pancakes were pretty good. My husband had pigs in a blanket which he liked, but they didn't agree with his stomach. Coffee was ok, service was good. Definitely a good choice for breakfast, but for $45 plus tip for 3 people, price was a little high.

I'm on a gluten free diet because of alerigies so when I heard The Original Pancake House had gluten free items I was on my way. I have now had the gluten free pancakes and waffles and both are excellant. I know they are gluten free because I didn't get sick. The service was great. We were seated immediately and after we ordered our food was delivered to us in a timely manner for as crowded as the restaurant was. Can't wait to go back. Great job Original Pancake House

FOOD: 3.5 STARS Dutch baby was delicious and something unique to every other breakfast menu i've seen. The eggs benedict were good too, but as good as they should be, nothing over the top. SERVICE: 3.5 STARS Table for 2 on a saturday at noon wasn't bad. My friend got seated after about 5 minutes and they sat her even tho i wasn't there yet which was nice for a busy place to do. No one was rude nor over the top attentive. They did their job and that's good enough to get by w/o any negative comments. AMBIANCE: 3 STARS Nothing special. Had a good amount of seating. PRICE: 3.5 STARS Price was good for the good food. About what you expect to pay at other breakfast chains like Ihop (i wont even compare to dennys because thats like fast food with more seating, worse service, and less taste) I would def come here for breakfast again. I love ihop and this is better than ihop altho i've only had 2 items. Id like to go again, but next time i'm trying the anaheim location.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this place really means business. Came on a random Sunday and the wait was no long at all. My man and I got seated in the separate room and were perfectly situated where the tv was. Football and breakfast in the afternoon..wow! We both got the omelet (vegetarian&western). **WARNING: The omelet is not your typical, it is like an omelet on steroids. This will fill your whole plate! Be prepared! I had the vegetarian and it was loaded with veggies. Got it with the pepperjack cheese and I have to say, it was CHEESY. Personally, I am a big fan of cheese, but this was just a little too much for me! With the order, you get an order of pancakes. I ordered a side of blueberry compote to use in replacement of syrup. Honestly, you can just forgo the compote. It was well cooked, but overly sweet and the pancakes were too strong for me in the end. Poor babe, He had the western and ordered it with all 3 cheeses that they had to offer. I believe he had all the meaty stuff in it and destroyed the thing into pieces. Ketchup all over and all, it was still a mission impossible. Overall though, we had great service and the coffee refills were awesome! Be more prepared for the omelet and try something else next time. Would definitely come again..beats DENNY'S and IHOP anyday.

Quick story: I had a bit of a 'rock star' moment at The Original Pancake House (TOPH) the other day. I was planning on Yelping this place and brought my camera. I started taking pictures of my wife's corned beef hash and my apple pancake. After finding out that we were Yelpers, the manager said, "Well, since you're taking pictures, you might as well take a picture of this," as he placed a fresh-from-the-oven Dutch Baby on our table. Wow! I should bring my camera with me more often... Okay, here's the rest of the review. The Wife, the li'l one, and I decided to make another trip down to TOPH. After two previous failed attempts (on Sunday mornings...BIG mistake! Loooooong waits...), we finally trekked over for a late breakfast (around 1:30). This time we had to wait about 20 minutes (waaaay better than 1 hour or more). People were seated relatively quickly so the line moved at a good pace. I was in the mood for pancakes, but wanted to try one of their house specialties. I opted for the apple pancake. The wife's inner carnivore chose the corned beef hash combo (w/eggs and pancakes). As we waited, the waitress brought out some strawberries with freshly whipped cream. Nice touch! Their citrus juices are freshly squeezed, but pricey. The corned beef hash was quite tasty and authentic (not that canned crap!). I found it to be light and fluffy, considering it's corned beef. The buttermilk pancakes were very flavorful and fluffy as well. If I didn't get the apple pancake, I'd order up a stack or two of these in a second. My apple pancake (if you can call it that) left me near-speechless. This whopper of a pancake is enough to feed 2-3 normal people. Me being a hearty eater, I could have taken it all in one sitting (if it hadn't been for the Dutch Baby bonus). The apple pancake is very eggy, dense, and HOT (make sure you blow on it a bit)! I found its texture and consistency to be like that of a heavy bread pudding. Normally, I wouldn't like pancakes like this, but this one was delicious. The tart Granny Smith apple slices combined with a pure Sinkiang cinnamon glaze kept me coming back for more. Good stuff. The Dutch Baby is basically the same thing as the apple pancake, but without the apples. This dish is more of a hybrid pancake/souffle than your typical buttermilk pancake. It starts out tall and airy and then sinks as time progresses (becoming more dense). Served with butter, powdered sugar, and lemon wedges, this 'baby' was a great extra breakfast treat. I thought the lemon juice would throw things off, but you really don't notice much tartness with the powdered sugar or butter mellowing it out. Though I probably wouldn't order this myself, I'm definitely glad I had a chance to try it. It tasted great the next morning, too... Despite our great service (our waitress was Violeta, I believe), expect two waits. The first is the wait to get seated and the second is the wait for your food. Fresh food does comes with a price. A family sitting right next to us came in starving and basically lost their appetites by the time their food came out. So please don't expect your food to come out quickly because it won't. Relax when you finally get seated and enjoy your meal. We did. If you're looking for this place, it's off the 55 freeway at the Chapman exit. It's on the corner of Chapman and Prospect in the same shopping center as Sasoon Chicken (mmm...chicken...). Tip: beat the really long waits and get here in the last hour of service. You'll thank me later...with free pancakes, perhaps?

This is one of the best breakfast places that I've been to in Orange!! Thumbs up all the way!! All I have to say is "Dutch Baby" pancake with a little lemon and syrup on the side! mMmMmMm! Yum Yum Yum! I also have to note that The Original Pancake House has somehow managed to perfect the bacon! Perfectly evenly cooked all around, mMmMm! My eggs was also yum! My only "eh" moment was their $4.50 fresh squeezed orange juice. I've had better, tastier, and cheaper fresh squeezed OJ. But now that I know, I'm totally getting hot chocolate or coffee on my next return! I don't usually have the time to just relax and enjoy a nice breakfast meal, but when I do have that opportunity - I want breakfast done right! Not only does The Original Pancake House serve amazingly beautiful huge servings of great breakfast, but their service is just as pleasant and sweet! Thumbs up! Yum!

I have only been here twice, but I have come to love the place already. The food is great, service is good and fast, and the restaurant is actually very clean; cleanliness isn't usually something I pay attention to but it really stands out here. I only provide four stars because I don't want to create too much hype and possibly mislead certain picky eater type people. So as I have only been here two times, I haven't been able to try a lot of things, but the items I have experienced were amazing. On my first visit I tried the apple pancakes and I'm pretty sure my mind was blown. They were closer to being a dessert than a breakfast because they put glazed cinnamon apples on top that were akin to an apple pie filling. Basically they were filling and delicious and I highly recommend them. On my second visit, which was about three days ago, I opted for Jim's special and pumpkin pancakes. Let me tell you, if you are a fan of anything pumpkin like I am, then these pancakes are the ones for you. They instantly became my favorite and the whipped cream on the side was a welcomed plus. The Jim's special wasn't anything to scoff at either. It was basically a skillet type dish with three or four eggs, sausage, ham, mushrooms, plenty of cheese, and pico de gallo on top. All it needed was a little cholula and it was perfect. I was absolutely stuffed after this meal and two cups of coffee but it was definitely worth it. I think the bill came out to about $17 before tip which is reasonable in my opinion. I am definitely looking forward to another visit here and I advise that you try it if you haven't yet but make sure to get there early in the morning if you can manage to wake up because it seems like it can get quite packed in there.

Great stop for b-fast. Many pancake, waffle and crepe choices along with all the regular American diner faves. Service was very friendly. Spinach crepes were amazing - great texture and flavor. Pumpkin pancakes were delicious - if you like pumpkin bread/pie. Must come back and try other things.

"People love us on Yelp!", says the sticker on the door. It never fails, Gerard Butler always talks to me in my head when I see this sticker. He says, "Immortals... We'll put their names to the test." As you enter, the wait room is big and comfy, complemented with a big flat screen TV. The ambience is nice. The establishment is spacious. The waitresses and staff are very nice. I asked, "Ma'am, can I switch my drink to a Sprite instead of an Arnold Palmer? I'm feeling under the weather..." she replies, "No problem, I'll get that for you as soon as I can." +1 My cousin got something with bacon. This bacon was no ordinary bacon. Puts diner bacon to shame. And when I say shame, like when Ashlee Simpson was caught lip-sync singing in SNL shame. My spinach omelette came out and made it's presence felt. This bad boy made my head look smaller. And trust me, I got a huge cranium. It was good too! Too bad I had to take it home first and eat it later on because of how I was feeling. No dessert menu though? Hrmm... Kind waitress, (I believe her name was Heather, blond with short hair) thank you for being so thoughtful. On my way out, she tells me "I hope you feel better..." I'll return just because of her service. :) Feeling under the weather, I could not fully provide you with a more vividly personal account. Look forward to round two...

You like pancakes? Just kidding, I know you do. This is a chain restaurant and it seemed a little pricey at first, but my goodness the portions are huge. The bacon is perfect. The dutch baby was huge. They even somehow put bacon in waffles! The portions as I said, are huge. Definitely would recommend the apple cinnamon pancake. The dutch baby is pretty good too. The bacon waffle was a little lackluster because when you cut them into bits, they lack the crispiness that a full slice of bacon would have. It still had the bacon flavor though. I would definitely come back if I felt like having a large savory and sweet breakfast!

Went on a Saturday morning, didn't wait longer than a minute. Other people have reported much longer waits on the weekends so maybe I was just lucky. Service was average, but the food on the other hand was pretty good. I shared an omelette with my girlfriend. The eggs were nice and fluffy. The bacon was salty, but still delicious. I've never tasted pancakes like these before, in a good way. This is a pancake house, and they have the best pancakes I've ever eaten. They're what kicked the rating up from a three to a four.

This is the better location of the few around Orange County. The one in Yorba Linda is absolutely horrible. Usually get the Eggs Benedict which is always great. The Hollandaise sauce is just right which if done wrong can spoil this dish. I occasionally get some pancakes as well and they're just delicious! So hot and fluffy!

Ehh... I don't get what the fuss or long lines are all about. The food here is mediocre, at best. Ambiance leaves a whole lot to be desired - it's like a large unfinished room with tables and chairs thrown together haphazardly and a handful of booths as an afterthought. But back to the food... Scrambled eggs taste and look like it came from a box. Forgettable pancakes. Bacon/sausage is your typical run of the mill stuff. The menu isn't even exciting to read. Price point is way too high. Service is hit or miss. Seriously, you're better off going down the street to the Broken Yolk for the same kind of food, but way better taste/quality/price. Heck, Denny's, Coco's, or Norm's are even far better options. Sorry, I'm just simply not a fan.

I've been eating at the Original Pancake Houses (OPH) for years. I've even made the pilgrimage to the original location in Portland. Just like every location you will be waiting in a line. Don't sweat the line because it's worth the wait. I've had a few items at this location, but I'm always lean towards either the Dutch baby or corned beef and hash with potato pancakes. Service at this location was not as attentive as the Portland location, but we got our food and it was nice and hot. It seems like I always feel a little rushed at OPH, but considering their hours I could see why. 4.5 stars.

I know this place is known for their pancakes and yes, their pancakes are very delicious and famous but what I must recommend is their Egg Benedict! I've had their Florentine Egg Benedict and honestly it was one of the best I've ever had. (It also comes with pancakes so you can have the best of both worlds!) I came here on a Saturday morning at around 9am and was shocked that there was already a large amount of people waiting. Don't get discouraged though because the wait was actually a lot quicker than I thought. The customer service here was also very nice. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We were checked up on often and our coffee was water was refilled when they should have been. I had a great first time and I definitely see myself coming back!

This is my favorite breakfast spot in Orange! I love their buckwheat pancakes with fresh strawberries. They also have delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. Other good options are their omelettes, which could feed a family of three. Their huge! I highly recommend eating here.

Came here with a friend to hang out and have breakfast since I'm always craving breakfast. Wait was short which isn't usually the case. These places are always packed. We got a seat near the window with about a 100 cops. Woohoo. Waiter was very attentive at first. Got us coffees and waters and kept coming back to take our orders but we weren't ready yet and when we were ready, he was nowhere to be found. We finally got the order in and food was quick to arrive. An almond cinnamon french toast for me and an apple pancake thing for him. My french toast was just OK. I ran out of coffee pretty quickly but there was no refill in sight. Our food got served up but no one came back to see how we were doing until I spotted another waitress to get some assistance and then I got my coffee but my meal was mostly over by this point. Meal was OK, service was subpar - making this an average experience. Could be better all the way around.

I have been here a few times. I have never been overwhelmed by the food or service. It will do the trick as there are worse places to have breakfast but there are several others I would hit up first in the Orange/Tustin area (i.e., Filling Station, Kimmie's Coffee Cup, Orange Cafe).

So this was a must go stop while I was visiting socal. My sister swears by it so I had to check it out. Went for breakfast on a Sunday and the wait was close to 40 mins for a table for 3. This is your typical diner feel, however don't expect the typical diner menu. There are some unique goods you can't find elsewhere. Ever heard of a Dutch Baby? Not me. My sister ordered it and it was.....not the usual. The omelette was 5x the size of a normal one you get at other restaurants, and my eggs florentine had bacon in it, with a side of banana pancakes. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Food was brought out pretty quick even though the restaurant was packed. The food was really good, I hope to be back again on my next trip.

Stopped here to get a 2nd breakfast (lunch, really) after hiking at Peters Canyon. We were tired and sweaty, and nothing sounded better than a stack of fluffy pancakes. I ordered bacon pancakes (very close to ordering the benedict dish with sausage, but I'd already had eggs in the morning) and we ordered home fried potatoes to share for the table. The pancakes were delicious and definitely hit the spot. I do wish the bacon was more spread out instead of just being in the center of the pancake, but not a big deal. The order comes with 6 pancakes, and I happily ate the leftovers that day (even good cold!). The potatoes, though, were SO GOOD. They were heavily seasoned, almost to the point of being too salty, but somehow hovered beautifully just before that point. I bet they're loaded potatoes are even more amazing.

I came here on a Sunday morning after running Peter's Canyon trail just down the street. I hesitated dining here because I didn't want to deal with the crowds or wait time. But I was hungry. My running partner and I decided to give it a shot. We arrived around 9am and were seated right away. Unfortunately I had to watch what I was eating since I'm training for a fight next month so no pancakes for me :( Instead, I ordered oatmeal and two eggs. It was delicious, but nothing special. The service was fast and friendly. My companion ordered cheesy eggs. Again, they were good but nothing special. We left around 10:30am and there was a huge line and lots of people waiting to be seated. My advice would be to arrive early on Sunday mornings to avoid the lines.

Awesome. We love the 49ers. We've been to the 4 locations and like the Orange store the best. They are very nice and let you customize your meal. The Huntington Beach store allows NOT changes or with a Substantial charge they will. Love, love love the Orange location

Came on a weekday around lunch hour. Service: Good. Then again the restaurant was half full. Food: 1. Scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, 3 medium sized blueberry pancakes~ $14. Kind of pricey but it was a decent amount of food. Blueberry pancakes were good though not spectacular. The blueberry compote was ok. Corned beef hash was not as salty nor greasy as other I've had. 2. Chocolate pancakes- 5 medium pancakes with a dense whip cream. Overall, food was fine though a little pricey for what it is.

It was my first time here and the line was surprising long but it didn't take too long to get seated because they have so much settings available and they make sure every single one of them are being taken. Their pancakes are to die for. I ordered a omelet and got pancakes on the side and loved everything from their friendly service to the quality of the food. The only issue was when I asked a waiter for condiments and ketchup he gave me This stare and asked me why would you eat your omelet with ketchup and salt and pepper if it's already seasoned. Seriously? Not necessary but whatever the food was good. Would definitely come back again

After a disappointing experience at the HB location a few months back, I decided to try this place again. This time the Orange location, and this time for pancakes. I tried the blueberry pancakes and shared a stack with my wife. They were kind of rubbery and not much flavor. I can make better protein pancakes at home for much less. Meh.

Two strikes on this place for me, and I doubt that I am going to make the effort and be able to convince anyone to come back to this place. The first time I came here I ordered the eggs benedict. This was a breakfast meal I would rather forget. Instead of receiving two silky poached eggs I got one poached egg and one hard-boiled egg. Yes, a hard boiled egg on top of my muffin. I don't have an issue with hard-boiled eggs at all, but they have no place being in an eggs benedict dish. The second time I came here I tried something completely different: the omelet with a side of pancakes. The omelet was unique... it's cooked in an oven and comes out more like a cake-like egg. And inside was chopped up sausages, I felt like the ratio of eggs to sausage was off (that's what she said). I just found the dish to be lacking flavor. The pancakes were really good though! And if I ever come back, I think I'm just going to stick to the pancakes and not bother with anything that has egg.

this was my 1st trip to the original pancake restaurant. we went to breakfast on a saturday with another family from my daughters soccer team. I didn't know a party of 8 was a difficult number to serve ( as our sever sugguested ). there were parties of 5 and parties of 6 who came in after us and got their food MUCH faster than we did. one group sat down right before we ordered. they got their food before we did. I ordered decaf coffee and got regular. vice versa for the other dad. I asked my server 3 times for cream. I finally asked another server and got immediately. my wife and I ordered small glasses of juice. when I questioned why I was charged for a large glass, i was told that small was 8oz and my server decided on his own to give us the 12oz large. I guess he thought it was too small? there were other cocerns but I won't keep picking at my server. our food was good and I recommend the mandrin orange crepes. as an ex-restaurant oaner and manager I am very partial to tipping servers and I appreciate the service they provide. that beig said, this was the 1st time in a LONG time I did not tip a server. the family we where with also had issues. maybe he was new as all of our conerns were service issues.?

So - why the one star. Where's the love. Could it really be that bad. The food was OK, nothing to write home about but certainly not a one, maybe 3 1/2....so back to why the one.....my wife asked for egg whites in her omelette and was told they had none .... but you're serving omelette ??? Yes but the chef is too busy to remove the yolks .... Huh ? Seriously ... How long could it take for a chef to flip out the yolks ?? That's just really poor customer service. We won't be back.

This is a chain breakfast restaurant and I have frequented several throughout the U.S. This is by far the best one I've been to. There was a line as usual out the door but it only took 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress immediately took our drink order and came back with drinks and took our food order. We were eating within ten minutes and the food was unbelievable. The berries were fresh, they bacon was nice and thick and cooked to perfection, the waffles were full of pecans and the fresh whipped cream was to die for. It was a pleasant surprise while traveling through the OC.

This is my first time going to this particular place. I have been to one in Norco and that spot was good. I went today, and yes it is Mother's Day which happens to be one of the busiest days for a restaurant; so I understand what I was getting myself into lol. Service is really good ( I thought it was, my family members didn't think so). We only waited 30 minutes to be seated which is amazing considering how crowded it was. Our server did seem a little bit energetic but at least he wasn't dry and enthusiastic. The food we got was pretty good. I will say I didn't enjoy what I ordered but I picked the wrong thing. I ordered Apple Dutch pancakes and it wasn't what I expected but that's okay. Everyone else enjoyed their food. Service is cool and food with cool I definitely look forward ti my next visit.

I love breakfast AND places dedicated to the art of breakfasting, so it's hard for me to rate breakfast items (that are cooked normally) less than 3 stars. The reason I give this place exactly that is because...well, I felt it was no less or more than standard. This location's towards the right side of the strip mall, which on a rainy day was still pretty busy. For 2 people on a Sunday afternoon (1pm ish) it was about a 15-20 minute wait. We had the "dutch baby" which is the oven baked German pancake that's supposed to be one of their signature items. It was alright, a little bland and nothing that spectacular. If anything it was unique and good to try once but I don't think I'm going to come back just to get it. Also it was like $11. Make sure you squeeze the lemons they give you over it, it weirdly makes a huge difference. My bf ordered the belgian waffle and some eggs. Kind of hard to mess up eggs (and eggs in my book ALWAYS get 5 stars), but the Belgian waffle tasted and looked like I made it at home, and was almost $10. I guess I was expecting a little more originality and/or taste from this restaurant, especially for the price (for 2 people the bill came out to be ~$40). BUT, I know places that just serve breakfast (outside of a Denny's or Ihop) are few and far between so it's still worth a visit if that's what you're craving. They had a lot of other choices that seemed worth a shot like various fruit covered pancakes and waffles and a million omelet choices.

Overall, a fine family-oriented "breakfast joint." It's not my favorite in Orange, I'd rather go to Arthur's personally, but this place is my wife's favorite place and so.... Food-wise the pancakes are great (hence the name "Pancake House), but I'm an eggs and hash browns kinda guy. To me the eggs and hash browns are too greasy and not flavorful enough. I know it's a subjective thing, but that's how I feel. I usually just go with the oatmeal or pancakes when I go here. Also, to me the coffee is a little watered down. However, it's a great staff, tables and restroom are clean, and they support local community organizations. Depending on what time you go on a Saturday or Sunday morning...expect a 15-min. wait, plus or minus 5-10 min. If I'm in an "eggs and hash browns" mood I go to Arthur's or Denny's.

I came here on a Satruday afternoon for a post-workout lunch. My friend is obsessed with pancakes and he swears by the sourdough pancakes. I had never heard of sourdough pancakes before, so I was very intrigued, especially since he has been talking up these pancakes for months. We finally had the opportunity to visit Orange, so we knew that we had to go to Original Pancake House. We ordered the bacon pancakes - 6 pancakes with diced bacon mixed in the batter - and the sourdough pancakes - 8 pancakes that had a sourdough batter. They both were delicious! Although I thought that my friend was exaggerating about the deliciousness of the sourdough pancakes, I was pleasantly surprised that they truly were amazing. They had the perfect fluffiness and tang. I always thought that bacon bits in pancakes would be amazing, and this place made that dream come true for me. I thought that the bacon was a little bit on the burned side, so I'm taking one star off for that. My friend didn't think so, so maybe I just prefer my bacon not cooked as much. I still recommend the bacon pancakes for any bacon lover though. Definitely get the sourdough though! The prices were good. About $8-$10 for a plate of pancakes. They will fill you up but not to the extent that you're too full to move afterwards. We headed to the outlets right after and were appropriately fueled for hours of shopping. By the way, extra plus is that this place is only about 10 minutes to the Outlets of Orange!

OPH is such an awesome place to grab breakfast or brunch! I always go to the anaheim location and this was my first time at this location! There were lots of people waiting when we got there around 12pm. Luckily, it was super fast and we only waited about 15 minutes. My friend and I took a long time to decide what we wanted because there were so many choices!! I finally decided to get the flourentines which comes with 2 poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on top of english muffins, arugula, bacon, and tomatoes. I thought it was absolutely delicious! It felt like i was eating unhealthy because of the bacon but healthy at the same time because of the arugula! Awesome balance!! My friend ordered the Jim's Special which was a lot a lot of meat and eggs!! tasted awesome! put some hot sauce on there and you've got yourself a fiesta! One thing that impressed me the most about this place was there was a couple next to us and they ordered their dishes. When the waitress came over to their table and asked how everything was, the guy mentioned that he did not like his dish. Without hesitation, the waitress apologized and asked if he would like to order something else. She took his dish away and brought him something else that he ordered. talk about great service!! Definitely will be back again !

GREAT gluten free pumpkin pancakes!! Unfortunately not so great service... By the time my toppings were brought out for the pancakes, they were almost gone. And this was after I had to ask three different waiters/ waitresses, including my own. Dutch baby and eggs Michael are also family favorites. But DANG, over $6 just for a side of 4 measly strips of bacon!?! Goodness gracious!!

Managed to sneak in with the BF before it was going to close at 2pm for a quick Thursday brunch. Ordered 6 chocolate chip pancakes, 3 pieces of bacon, 2 sunny side up eggs, 3 blueberry pancakes and a cup of OJ to share between two. Let me tell you -- the bacon is SO GOOD. I don't think I've ever had "real" bacon until this meal. It was chewy and flavorful and wow. Chocolate chip pancakes got real heavy real fast but the blueberry ones didn't tire us out. Service was top-notch even though our waitress accidentally overcharged us on our check. However, she did give us great suggestions prior to us ordering so that we saved a few bucks. Would usually give 3 stars, but BACON. That is all.

2nd time to Original Pancake House which always seems to be busy but seats pretty quickly. Service is average and food is average. Just another pancake house that gives you a lot of food for a good amount of money. The place itself as a whole appears to be pretty clean. Nothing extraordinary

Good standard breakfast fare, but nothing spectacular. As the name suggests, pancakes are the thing to get here, and even the non-pancake menu items come with a few of them.

Came in on a Sunday around 2 pm and there was no wait! We got seated right away on the booth. The first thing I noticed was there were junks of food under the table. But I don't stress too much of that. This is what we ordered: Ham and cheese omelette- the size was relatively huge. It was really fluffy! Although it was good, I felt like the other location(Anaheim) that I've been to was a lot better than this location. Sausage and cheese omelette- same concept as ham n cheese but with sausage. My boyfriend said they put a lot of cheese. He still liked it. I substitute the banana nut pancakes instead of buttermilk pancakes. The banana nut was really good!!! The pancakes are not too big not too small. Chocolate chip pancakes- my boyfriend is a sweet tooth guy but he said that there was too much chocolate. He ate 3/4 of it anyways! Bacon pancakes- I only took a bite but it was so good!!! You can't go wrong with bacon ;D Orange juice- freshly squeezed. It's not too sour nor sweet. Just about right. I ordered a bigger size but it looked like a regular ): Overall, my experience here was okay. I'd prefer to eat at the Anaheim location.

Leisel remembers our order and is super awesome to my nieces and nephews . She's really sweet and the whole place has a family feel and a great vibe . Place is always packed and there's a reason for it. The apple pancakes are pretty amazing. You can't go wrong with anything. Give it a try .

I only eat here once or twice a year or so. The DUTCH BABY is one of my favorite O.C. treats but this restaurant leaves much to be desired as far as atmosphere, service and over all dining experience. The food is great! But it is always FREEZING inside this OPH so please bring a sweater. Also the service is slllooooooowwww. Like syrupy slow. On this recent visit the waitress advised us the the DUTCH BABY takes twenty minutes to make. No one has ever told me that before and since this is the only thing I ever order, it could give a clue as to why the food takes so long to arrive at the table. All that said, the DUTCH BABY is a magical puffed pastry, lemon delight. I squeeze lemon on the custard portion and then add powdered sugar and swirl it all around. No syrup needed. I always eat the entire DUTCH BABY myself but just as a kindly heads up, it's $11! Their potato pancakes are delish, too. All in all: OKAY for a twice a year trip, but sheesh it is dead boring place to dine.

I've been to a few Original Pancake House restaurants in OC and I am the LEAST impressed with this one. Menus looks a bit different from the other restaurants, like with the corned beef hash dish, potato pancakes were not listed as a side. In ordering the hash, it was not in its own ramekin and the waiter had to put the basted eggs on top at my table (this is usually done at the kitchen). Hash: VERY dry, and a LOT less quantity than at Huntington Beach Buttermilk Pancakes: Significantly SMALLER than the pancakes at Huntington Beach. This was probably the most unforgivable vice of my visit. You're a pancake house! They were basically the size of 'dollar pancakes'! Verdict: Not returning. Find me at HB.

This review long over due. We have been to different branches of this restaurant but this one I love the best. Service is always great. They do get busy on weekends but they usually work through wait list quick. They have absolutely the best omelets. They are fluffy and light. If you are with gf, you can share them easily. They are huge. Everything we tried so far is great. My favorite is Spinach Crepes... they are thin crepes filled with sauteed spinach and cheese. Heaven. All of their dessert crepes are good but they can be too sweet (the jams/fillings) so it might good idea to get it on the side and see how sweet you like them. What we love to do is to order Spinach crepes or one of other savory dishes and crepe/dutch baby and share half and half. Oh, course what kinda of breakfast would it be if they would not serve FRESHLY squeezed orange juice. It is such a treat. The only down side is that this place is a little pricey for breakfast or type of food but if you want great omelet this is the place to choose.

Came here with some friends on a Wednesday morning. First time coming to this breakfast spot as it was recommended by a friend. Great service, very clean inside. The food was really good. My wife got the corn beef hash, I got the sausage and egg omelette, which comes with a side stack of pancakes. Good portion size, homemade ketchup (always a plus in my book). My buddy got the apple pancakes and they were delicious. It's nice to find a breakfast spot that doesn't charge so much. I will definitely be making this one of my regular spots!

Short-n-Sweet: Awesome specialty pancakes, beautiful dining room, attentive service. STORY-TIME: Should I give this place five stars? I never give any place five stars.... okay okay.. I guess I will because it's just a FANTASTIC breakfast joint. I mean, who can complain when you have chocolate peanut butter pancakes on special, or you have the oven baked apple pancakes to die for? You can even order an incredible omelet, if that is what you fancy. THEY STILL GIVE YOU PANCAKES!! So, YES, the food is delicious. But it can't only be that, so thank God they have a good staff. I found my drinks and food made to my orders, and they were attentive to refilling coffee and water, as well as getting to check when my group needed to bail. The coffee is pretty good(smooth roast), and is made by Dietrich's; the dining room has everything available like cozy corner nooks and a well lighted open space for bigger groups. It may seem like a small restaurant, but easily they fit 100 people inside, plus even have "meeting rooms" for those who want to do a more private event. I think one of the best qualities is that this is a chain restaurant! So I'm excited that they do such a good job here at this location and the Anaheim location. I think I would definitely feel very safe eating out of state at The Original Pancake House. Anyone going to Texas anytime soon? Cause, yep! They're there too. =D

Get here early before the crowd! Bacon Pancakes, makin bacon pancakes, put it in a pan and make a pancake...Sorry, first thing that comes to mind when my son ordered the Bacon Pancakes. I myself ordered eggs and bacon with a side of Coconut pancakes. The bacon on my plate was by far the rockstar, they dont just give you some scrony pieces of bacon, they give you nice thick cut bacon, packed with flavor and the perfect amount of crunch! The coconut pancakes were okay...just wasn't my fave. I typically don't go with a flavor but since this place specilized in it I figured I would give it a go. My son loved his pancake, and my friend and her husband each got something different too. One got a crepe and the other had a omlette. This was my first time, and I have to say this was a very pleasant experiance. Very mom and pop atmosphere... I liked it. Prices are reasonable, service was good.

I had an overall good experience here! We came on a Sunday morning and were sat within 10 minutes or less after coming in, but it was also raining so that kept a lot of people home I think since SoCal residents associate rain with the apocalypse. My boyfriend had been here before so he knew the portions were huge, but since I could eat a whole restaurant when I'm hungry I was skeptical but followed his advice and I'm so glad I did. Our omelet was the size of a newborn and it was served with three smaller sized pancakes that really hit the spot. We wanted to try a couple of things so we also split the home fries and sausage gravy and biscuits. So. Much. Food. I'm honestly so full and we spent right around 30$ including our coffees and extras like sour cream. Service was very good, nice and friendly and we were never questioning where our food was and when it was coming. It was average speed for a Sunday morning! Definitely will come back for a special treat again!

Omegoodness, I should have known it wasn't going to be as easy as pancakes and eggs. Decisions are the death of me and this place had a lot of them, each one looking better than the next. Our server, Maddy, was very sweet and helpful. We ordered a large orange juice and regular cranberry juice. The cups were tiny, we got a kick out of em especially in comparison to the hot sauce bottles which were massive! The bf and I both ordered omelets especially since we were excited to read that they also came with a side of three pancakes. He ordered the Sausage & cheese omelette while I got the Mexican omelette. Our omelets didn't take too long to arrive and they were huge and ever so fluffy. My Mexican omelette was delicious, with a toping of pico de gallo and a mixed cheese filling. I'd definitely order this dish again. The pancakes were a lil dry but still good and I liked their syrup. My bf wasn't a fan of his sausage and cheese omelet. He said it was bland and too fluffy. The sausage was sparse and it didn't seem too appetizing to me. He did seem jealous of my omelette hehe. Overall, good experience. Portions are huge so we'd probably share an omelet and side of pancakes next time.

After waiting a while we were finally seated. Too bad the service was horrible. First the waiter brought iced coffee brimming to the top with ice. Not sure of there was really any coffee in the glass! Then he forgot to bring the water we asked for twice, even though he kept standing right next to us at the small beverage station. He never once refilled my coffee cup. Again, he kept standing at the beverage station! Usually there is someone who walks around refilling coffee, or at least if the other server refills the next tables coffee they ask if you want more. Not here. The servers only serve their own tables. I guess the idea of helping out one another does not exist here. When our food finally arrived, we were unimpressed. The omelets looked like they had been our in a waffle press without the holes. They were also very dry. The one saving grace was that the pancakes were good. Don't think we will be coming back anytime soon...

1st time at this location. Pretty bad for me overall. Service and food both lackluster. Not saying they aren't courteous but way too slow and the food quality seems cheap. Ordered a very simple sausage links and over-easy eggs with the side of cakes. No bueno.

They have the BEST PUMPKIN PANCAKES!! I am a pumpkin pancake conissuer, these are the best I've found. The fresh squeezed orange juice is great. It is quite expensive but the food is great! The bacon is amazing, its thick and yummy!! It is quite popular on the weekend, go early on Sunday. The service can be a bit slow but still worth it.

Overall a very standard breakfast place - Nothing too special . I was a little disappointed last time, I ordered eggs florentine and oatmeal and both dishes came out cold. The service however is excellent and the manager is attentive and interested in the customers' experience . We will likely be back here for breakfast at some point . The pancakes do taste great.

Let's start this off with the fact that I'm a die hard OG Original House of Pancakes goer, aka the one off Lincoln in Anaheim. I recently moved to this area and was so excited to see an OHOP down the street! There were two of us going in around 9am on a Sunday, and we were seated within 10 minutes which was amazing! I ordered my usual of 49'ers pancakes and my hubby ordered the Swedish pancakes. If you have ever been to the Anaheim OHOP you know the 49'ers are huge, brown, and crispy on the edges. The pancakes I received were small and yellow! No crispy edges! No hugeness! I asked the waiter if these were the right pancakes and he answered yes, was I expecting bigger pancakes? I guess others had had this issue before! Ummmm YES! I felt cheated. They really didn't taste the same. Same batter yes, but being under cooked and made differently really changed the taste. Never again! Side note: service was excellent, everyone was great, it was just the HUGE difference in consistency that really turned me away. I will gladly get to the Anaheim location extremely early to get in and my 49'ers the way they are SUPPOSED to be made!

I loved this restaurant. On the recommendation of my parents, we went to The Original Pancake House to try one of the best breakfast places I've ever visited. I got the blueberry pancakes, which came with an amazing fresh blueberry syrup. The pancakes were light and fluffy, also with fresh blueberries, which is great when you're used to ending up with the freeze dried variety in pancakes. Eggs were cooked well, if a little more runny than I usually like. The wait was half an hour or so, but it was definitely worth it! Would visit again if I was in the Chapman area.

I am all for trying out a good waffle/pancake spot. Oddly, The Original Pancake House seems to be bigger on their omelets than their pancakes. The quality of their food is good and the customer service was alright. However, I expected more from their pancakes and was not too impressed with what I was served. Across from me, my friend was given a massive omelet that looks like something out of a food challenge. In front of me, a descent sized buttermilk pancake with a mediocre helping of blueberries. Icing on the cake was that I paid more than my friend with a giant omelet. Needless to say, the experience was disappointing. If anything, I would at least like to see this place keep all their meals evenly proportioned or if not, make their pancakes the best meal for your money since OPH gives off the impression it would be known for its pancakes. Overall, I found OPH to be a descent restaurant. I am not all too thrilled about the food here either way but their is enough on the menu to make me want to try out different dishes if I ever came back. I would say OPH would be more of a 2nd or 3rd option to eat at if I am in the area.

Franchise. There is a location in Anaheim, yorba Linda. This is by far the best one. Service makes you wait a little but I never mind waiting for a good thing. What's that saying "good things come to those who wait" Servers are really nice! Love the decorations feels like home. Tons of gluten free options which I love!! LOVE!!!!! Almost everything listed on the menu they can make gluten free some exceptions but overall extra star for that. Tons of speciality options including Dutch pancakes, thin pancakes, banana pancakes and so much more!!! I got the gluten free pumpkin pancakes. They were the most fluffiest pancake I have ever had. I could have eaten them without butter and syrup that's how good they were! Orange juice was freshly squeezed as well. Overall I would give this place 6 stars if I could! It was that bomb!

I went to the Orange location for a team meeting. Although this is a multi-state chain, I had never been to OPH before. I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the Western bacon omelet and home fries ($9.95). Omelets also include three pancakes on the side. The omelette's are more like souffles here. They are baked and include five eggs. However, mine did not have much bacon in relation to the eggs. I asked them to hold the pancakes because I wouldn't eat them. My coworkers had the signature apple pancakes and other assorted omelets. Although we were all full, I did not hear anyone say that the food was that great: 3 Stars The service and ambiance are fine. We had a private room and our server was very nice. There was a hole in my cup and she replaced it and refilled my drink with no problems: 3 Stars. OPH is better than Norms and definitely better than Dennys, but still only 3 Stars. The portions are huge, but there are not that much fillings. There is a new one opening in Huntington Beach, and I will likely go. However, I think I will try the corned beef hash next time.

49ers best regular pancakes any day of the week, at least from my opinion. The Original Pancake house is a familiar spot for my kids and I. With piping hot coffee and a plate of their famous 49ers, nothing more I can ask for.

The bacon waffle is amazing, I just can't get enough of it. It's about $8.65 for one waffle that's the size of the plate. I usually only come for the bacon waffle. The biscuits and gravy are also delicious, the staff is very friendly and attentive! Overall it's a little pricey but definitely worth it!!

Came here for Sunday breakfast. The place was busy but we were sat within a reasonable time frame. My fiancé got the cornbeef hash with eggs and pancakes. I had the spinach crepe with potato pancakes. Everything was delicious and service was good. We are giving 4 stars because it's nothing out if this world.

Ate here with the boss (my girlfriend) today since she has been craving pancakes for the past few days, and came to this location after reminiscing with her about the other location in Anaheim off of Lincoln & State College. I ordered the 2x4 (two by four) which is two eggs cooked to request and four fluffy buttermilk pancakes. She had the Swedish pancakes with lingonberries. We both enjoyed our meals and I remember leaving very satisfied thinking that those were some of the better pancakes I had in a long time. We were seated right away and the restaurant wasn't too busy, but still a decent crowd for a Monday morning. The service was great, however I did see a 5 top that came in after us served their food before our 2 top, which was a little confusing. Prices are a bit on the high side for what it was, as I probably would have ordered a side of toast and sausage and/or bacon if this was another comparable pancake restaurant, but this location earned its four stars, and we will be back again.

This is my second time going here the first time I had no problems. Maybe because i orderes a simple waffle. but I went this morning with my family I ordered the eggs Benedict eggs over easy. I got them and the eggs were hard. I felt bad but I returned them saying that I wanted them over easy and i waited 15 minutes and at this point my family had started eating and half way through their meal by the time I got my food. The second time I cut into my eggs and they were rock hard!! I was highly disappointed but I ate them anyways becasue I was hungry and I didnt want to wait another 15 minutes. It seems silly complaining about the eggs but its the main part of Eggs Benedict

The Original Pancake House is a great chain. They have an amazing array of recipes for a variety of pancakes. You can probably walk into any one of them and have a good three maybe four star experience. The OPH on Chapman is no exception - my wife and I have eaten our way through almost every type of pancake on the menu and almost every one of them is worth a repeat. What really sets this location apart is the staff. The employees are friendly, fast and know their stuff. The owner is almost always there and really makes an effort to keep things moving and to remember a familiar face. There simply isn't a better breakfast spot in Orange.

Food was ok. We didn't have to wait long. Just for the hostess to finish taking a long phone order. But there was no line. It took quite some time for someone to even take our drink order and the place wasn't even packed. Again the food was ok but it wasn't like mind blowing especially for the price. I had two eggs, two strips of bacon and a small stack of pancakes. I know it is a pancake house but I was dissapointed that there was no easy way to go about getting potatoes with my food. I probably won't go out of my way to come back.

It was my first time eating at The Original Pancake House and I'm not really a fan of pancakes or waffles because I think they're fillers, but luckily they served a bunch of egg dishes. I ordered the spinach omelette and because they didn't have hash browns I opted for something similar that our server recommended, which was a skillet filled with home fries covered in melted cheese and sautéed mushrooms, onions and peppers. Spinach Omelette: The airiest and fluffiest omelette I have ever eaten. It tasted delicious and didn't feel too heavy. It's friggin huge! So I only ate half and boxed the other half to go. Skillet home Fries: This side dish was pretty good especially if you're someone like me who needs their hash brown fix. Again I only ate half because I was getting pretty full. Next time I want to try the dutch baby since my friends were telling me their pancakes were good. Big portions and good service. Be prepared for long waits during brunch.

Our last visit was good. I was a little disappointed food took longer than usual and came out a little incorrectly. I ordered the eggs florentine and requested hollandaise sauce on the side but it came on top of the eggs florentine. My sister ordered French toast but received pancakes. I think they get overwhelmed and sometime the service gets impacted. We mentioned the French toast error but I ate the Florentine. I didn't want to wait longer to get it remade.

I thought this place was going to be awesome. The service was good. The food was ordinary. I had corn beef hash and eggs. It wasn't bad but I thought it would have been better. I was figuring it would have knocked the socks off any breakfast place I have been to. My wife had eggs and pancakes. She said it was ok, not too sweet but she remarked she could have made better..... sad we were looking for a awesome breakfast place. The search continues.......

15 minute wait, true to their word. German pancake is my favorite but everything is Great!!! The bacon is huge. Banana pancakes are amazing. Can't go wrong The food is consistent with the location on Lincoln in Anaheim, but this location is much more modern looking and larger...not that that means it is better, depends on yuor preference.

The Dutch Baby is delicious, but that's about it. The rest of the menu succeeds in fooling patrons into thinking that the food is "oh-so-good" by offering laughably large portions of bland and boring breakfast foods, many of which are more like dessert, but still boring. Example: an omelette with six eggs but no seasoning and only enough filling for about a three egg omelette. Apart from the Dutch Baby there is nothing "Original" here. Just a long wait, noisy kids, noisy parents, and sticky tables, chairs and floors. On a positive note, the service is good and the food comes out quickly. If you want barely palatable but predictable breakfast food that you can drench in syrup or salt, this is the place for you. Plenty of parking. Also, if you have a reservation, they won't seat you until your whole posse is there.

I crave this place pretty much every morning. The strawberry pancakes are to die for and are a huge portion. They put a huge amount of strawberries and put the most amazing homemade whip cream on top. And comes with strawberry syrup! Yumm. Their bacon is really good too. The strips are thick cut and really big. There is always a line out the door waiting when I go here but the wait goes quick and is definitely worth it! The servers are really great too. Love this place!

Went here on a weekend for breakfast. The service was good and the Dutch pancake was delicious. A little burnt but putting a little lemon and powdered sugar made it taste like a slice of lemon bar. The bacon is really good too, thick and crunchy. Making me hungry again.

Been here a number of times. Breakfast is excellent here. Wait times are typical, but the service is exemplary. The ambiance is relaxed. Its called pancake house, but it emphasizes an extensive menu that is to please the palette. I have not tried their recommended dishes, but have found their omelettes to always be more than enough and tasty. Coffee, which can be hit or miss, has been a pleasure. Having a choice between aged cheddar to pepper jack cheese feels like your in a vegas buffet. Highly recommended. Please come and check it out and find out more for yourselves. It won't disappoint

This place is ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. Customer Service is on point, the food is delicious, & it's a super clean establishment. I ordered the spinach crepe with pumpkin pancakes & I totally wanted to lick the plate. Plus, they had my order available gluten free which was super awesome. Although it's a pancake house it really seperates itself from its competition with a variety of menu options unlike I've ever seen before. I'm super excited to come back & try something else on their menu next time.

I became disappointed with the management*owner, well I ordered and he gave me an order of something he told me was completely different. I asked if the crepe had sour cream and he said it was mixed in the batter not inside the crepe and did not offer an exchange. Every time I go they make it as I want today it was different with the owner

This place is so disgusting first, my daughter and three nephews ordered chocolate milk and it was rotten!!!!!! They replaced it with good milk so we thought wtv it was a nasty accident... Then the waitress dropped a butter porcelain container on my two year olds head which caused a huge red bump.. We thought ok the lady felt horrible accidents happen... Then, my nephew was eating his pancake and my sister found a hair in the middle of the pancake!!!!!! So disgusting!!!!!!!! And when we complained they charged us per pancake that we had already eaten!!!! This is ridiculous!!! Management was horrible how are you going to charge us for your disgusting and stupid mistakes?!?!? DON'T EVER EAT HERE!!!!! They're lucky I'm not suing!!!!!

Dutch Baby is oven baked and served with whipped butter, lemon, and powdered sugar. It is HUGE! The presentation was like a meteor strike, high cliffs with a sunken crater in the middle and covered in snow white powdered sugar. It was a cross between a soufflé and bread pudding. The outside was crusty and the inside was soft and custard like. Thumbs up, way up! The Thick Sliced Bacon was an experience. The thick-cut bacon was fried so it had a nice crispy outer layer but was still tender in the middle (a difficult feat for thick bacon). The thicker the bacon, the harder it is to get the crispy texture; sort of like frying up a thick piece of pork belly. The smoky, pepper flavor was perfectly infused and had just the right amount of salt. Thumbs up, way up! Fresh Vegetarian Omelette was a fluffy omelette filled with broccoli, tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, aged cheddar cheese, and served with three buttermilk pancakes. You can upgrade to bacon pancakes which is quite an experience if you like the combination of sweet and savory, like chicken and waffles. It sounds weird, bacon bits inside of pancakes, but it was out of this world. The buttermilk pancake batter was spiked up with the smoky, saltiness of the bacon. It was a great flavor combination. Thumbs up, way up! Denver Omelette is also served with three buttermilk pancakes. This was the best omelet ever! The eggs were so fluffy that the omelette looks like a football. The fluffiness even added to the flavor making the eggs seem as though they were just wispy clouds. The mixture of cheese and vegetables were wonderful. Thumbs up, way up! The Original Pancake House proudly serves Diedrich Coffee. It was smooth and has a great aroma and flavor - the way good brewed coffee is supposed to taste like.

Fresh food, service was great, but the food comes out a tad slow on a weekend morning. To be expected for most of these breakfast places. But at some point I was starting to stare and drool at other people's plates. Good: Blueberry pancakes, soft, plush pancakes, melt in my mouth good. OK: eggs benedict would probably not get again. I would go for that omelette, my partner in crime got hooked up with his western omelette. Pretty legit breakfast spot, I didn't realize this location existed in OC.

Came here on a Sunday around 11 am. We had originally planned to go to the "original" original pancake house in anaheim but facing a two hour wait, we decided to come here instead. My friend has been to both locations and she says the food is basically the same. I called in and put my name on the list for two after hearing there was a twenty minute wait. I drove there in about 15 minutes and we waited to be seated for another ten minutes. So pretty accurate on the wait time prediction. I ordered a ham & cheese omelette and added some tomatoes and upped their side of pancakes to banana pancakes. Omelette was delicious and cooked just right - not dry but not too runny. I believe the waitress said that they place the skillet in the oven for a bit but can't be sure. The banana pancake was good but nothing special and definitely lacking in bananas. That was a bummer for me - I love getting a lot of real bananas and banana flavor in my pancakes and it just wasn't as much as I wanted. The tropical syrup was delicious though and helped curb the sweetness I was looking for in my pancakes. Service was good. She was friendly and came by a few times to check on us. Price wise - it's ok Not hole in the wall prices but won't break the bank either. Is it my new go to spot for breakfast? Probably not but if a friend wanted to come here again, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I have been dying to try this place for the longest time and finally had the chance to do that recently! Hallelujah!! I haven't had much luck having good pancakes for the longest time..until I went to Flappy Jack's Pancake House. VERY GOOD! So, coming here, I was expecting the same. This place didn't let me down! I ordered Banana Nut Pancakes. I was expecting large fluffy size pancakes but it was mini-size fluffy pancakes. Not that it made much difference, cuz it's all large portion. There's something about the batter they use and I'm wondering..what is it?!? Buttermilk? It is organic? DELICIOUS. I ate 8 out of the 10 pancakes off my plate. It was that good. The pancake is so fluffy, light, and just yummy all around. The sugar rush didn't die down until hours later..post-pancake coma. ^_^ My friends also enjoyed their pancakes and omelettes. Overall service is good. This place gets BUSY so be ready to wait for awhile if you come here during the peak hours. We were lucky we didn't wait too long...maybe 10 minutes or so. We look forward coming back again to try other types of pancakes....=)

Fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices daily, homemade whipped cream and specialty syrups...nothing is started until you order it. It's like getting a seat at grandma's table!

Food was great however with the waiter and waitress staring at you wondering if your done so they can get you out to sit the next customer was unwelcoming. Let me finish without being rushed. Over priced as well.

Always packed on the weekends so prepare for a 30 min wait for more than a party of 2. Omelettes are my favorite, so huge!

Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes. I've been here a few times now, and I personally enjoyed the chocolate chip the most, but the bacon pancakes were just as tasty. I was a little disappointed with the banana nut pancakes, but the server Jose said they don't use ripe bananas which doesn't really leave very much of a banana taste. But everything else we tried is good as well, especially the bacon, and I'm not really much of a bacon person either. The eggs benedict were good and the Jims special I would order again. During our first visit, the best part of our experience was our server Kayla H. When trying a new restaurant I'll typical ask tons of questions about the food and she was very helpful and answered all our questions. When ordering and asking for certain condiments such as sugar free syrup, she was on it and very attentive. She even remember us during our next visit a few weeks later. I would say on a weekend its pretty crowded, but its worth the wait. J~

Hated the wait, but loved the food!! I would highly recommend the bacon waffle and the apple pancakes!! The bacon waffle reminded me of a Mcgriddle...my favorite breakfast sandwich at McDonalds!! And the apple pancakes reminded me of an apple pie from McDonalds...ahhhh why am I all of a sudden craving McDonalds!?!!! Seriously, why haven't other breakfast joints followed in this trend of adding bacon to everything? It makes life so much better!!!

My kids and husband really enjoyed their meals pecan & buttermilk pancakes, bacon, eggs and cheese omelette. But I was disappointed with the portion size of the spinach crepe (one crepe only) for ($10.10 on the menu) that was originally suppose to come with 4 potato pancakes. But since I'm Gluten free was charged $1.75 extra to modify the crepes (ok that's fine-- it says so on the menu). Since the (4) potato pancakes were not gluten free the waitress asked if I would like home fries instead, I said sure. She asked if I wanted onions in it, I said, "yes". I ordered it without the cheese and hollandaise sauce, it came out with cheese in it. It wasn't the waitress' fault, but the chef didn't pay attention. They brought me a new one w/ out cheese. It was definitely on tje greasy side but the taste was great. Like I mentioned earlier it's one thin crepe (a thin pancake) with a small amount of onions, mushrooms and spinach rolled up in it for supposedly $11.85 if ordered the gluten free way. But here's the kicker when we got the bill, the waitress had charged me $13.30. I asked her why, when the menu says $10.10 plus $1.75 for GF. She said, "Oh well you ordered home potatoes those cost extra if you swap out from the 4 potato pancakes." She never mentioned that switching out my 4 potato pancakes (that was included in the price of $10.10) for a side of home-style potatoes would result in an additional charge. Very disappointing. It was a potato for a potato, sheesh!

A few years ago, my family started meeting up to go to brunch every Sunday. The Original Pancake House is only a couple miles from my parents house so we decided to try it, and it had become a staple in our Sunday brunch arsenal. We used to come here every other week, but lately we've been on a mission to try different places in the area. That doesn't mean we don't enjoy our trips back to the restaurant! The wait on Sundays around noon and 1 pm varies greatly. Sometimes we get seated right away, other times it takes 20-30 minutes. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait and then you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get seated quickly. As for the food, everything I've had has been good. Here's a quick rundown of the highlights: Lots of omelettes. FYI, their huge! People in our group usually eat half and end up taking the rest home for later The bacon is thick cut and awesome The Dutch Baby is really good and not like anything I've had before. I choose to forgo the lemon and just stick with the powdered sugar The peanut butter and chocolate pancakes are good My mom always asks for the lemon blueberry pancakes and LOVES them The apple pancake is huge, cinnamon-sugary and delicious I appreciate that the menu is all breakfast because usually places stop serving it too early and you get stuck with just lunch items, but I know my brother often complains that there aren't lunch options on the menu. Personal preference I guess.

The menu is a bit overpriced for what you get in the food is not that tasty. I had the Irish omelette and is no taste land is said that I had to use Tabasco sauce to spice it up. Too much cheese and cannot taste the corn beef The portions are too big The Dutch oven is overhyped. Service is good but the wait is not worth it

When it comes to pancakes and it's various varieties, this place rocks. Their signature apple pancakes and Dutch baby are phenomenal and plenty to share. Their OJ is freshly squeezed. They also offer Gluten free pancakes, crepes and waffles for $1.75 more.

Hey, its just eggs and pancakes. Food is ok, but the prices are enormous for breakfast. Pancakes and waffles shouldn't cost this much. Service is very slow and the place needs a good scrubbing. Very unappetizing when the restaurant is not clean.

Good food and great staff! My fiancé and I just moved to town and we both love breakfast food!! We've been to Ohop in San Diego but we didn't know there was one so close to us. We walked in for a late brunch around 1:30 and the hostess said we had a 5-10 minute wait but we were seated much sooner. We ordered the Dutch baby and Corned beef hash and eggs, fresh orange juice to wash everything down. The food came out fairly soon and our server was very friendly and attentive. Yummmmm.

I love this place. Great bacon (industrial strength) and gluten free pancakes! It is one of my favorite breakfast places in the OC. I probably should not have posted this 5 Star Review, the main problem with this place is that too many people know and love it so you will probably have to wait at least 20 min to get a seat.

  • Dory N.

The prices match how much they give you. The Dutch pancakes are super unique, I highly recommend it. I've never had Dutch pancakes anywhere else! The omelettes here are HUGE! If you have the omelette a with egg whites, it's even bigger! The pancakes are good, but I like the blueberry ones over the others. I went with a big group today & got to try all of the different pancakes they offer. The buckwheat tasted too healthy for my taste, haha. Otherwise, this place has great stuff! The bacons are the thickest I've ever seen! And huge too!

  • Walter W.

OJ, side of bacon, and a waffle costs around $20. So high. Girlfriend got coffee and it was bitter, eggs were underwhelming. Two stars only because my waffle and her pancakes were decent. For the price paid, I expected the place to be cleaner and more updated than what it is.

I came here to try their dutch baby and compare it to mine. I was hit with sticker shock over and over. The sides cost what I'd expect for a meal ($5), The specialties cost what I'd expect for a meal ($10), but they come with no sides! Biscuits & Gravy- $4.85: 1 biscuit, split into 2 halves. Covered with gravy dotted with pepper and sausage bits. Not bad- at least it had seasonings and real meat! Dutch baby- $10.05: I was not disappointed with the quality. It was moist without being undercooked, and it had lift without the tips being extremely dry. It came with a side of lemon wedges, extra powdered sugar, whipped butter, and syrup. I was not happy about the size of the allegedly large 7" dutch baby.

I love this place to come a devour a breakfast. They pack the plate full of what ever you order. I always order the western omelette, and it. Is. Bomb! The best part is the freshly squeezed Orange juice. The customer service is good, they may get super busy but still try their best to attend to each customer.

Great food and great service! They did a great job on my favorite meal of the day! Waffles and pancakes were light and delicious, and the corned beef hash and eggs were done perfectly. Can't wait to come back and try something else, there were too many great things to choose from on the menu !

The Original Pancake House just hits a good spot when it comes to dining out for breakfast. First off, the portions are just huge which makes me really happy because my friends and family can always eat family style and try everything. I love the omelets here. They are really big, fluffy and stuffed with all the goodies you want. My recommendations would be the vegetable omelet or the Irish omelet. The vegetable omelet has tons of veggies and tastes fresh. I usually substitute the broccoli for spinach but either way, the vegetable omelet always delivers. As for the Irish omelet, this is quite the guilty treat. If you love thick cut corned beef and potatoes, this is the omelet for you. The bacon is so good here. Its thick, smoked and cooked however way you want it. I really appreciate that the servers ask you how you want your bacon, as in regular, extra crispy or well done. It meets my bacon needs for sure. The potato pancakes are very good here and are usually my substitution for regular pancakes. A lot of the meals come with pancakes and can usually be specialized. I tend to be a bit of a Meg Ryan from When Harry Met Sally when it comes to ordering here but the service is always very accommodating. However, with my special orders does come high additional charges which is my main reason for not giving a higher rating. But other than that, when I want a hearty American breakfast with all the bells and whistles, this is my main go to.

After the unhappy experience at Flappy Jack Pancake House, Honeybuns and I came here, since it's really a 10 min drive down the road. We were told 15 min wait. Lots of people waiting, yet there's none of that insane madness at Flappy Jack's. Approx. 15 min later, we were seated! Don't know how they do it, but the lines just keep moving. Yay !!! Many of the pancakes and waffles and crepes can be made Gluten-Free !!! Yay !!! I got the corned beef hash w/ eggs and upgraded the plain pancakes for GF pumpkin pancakes. Honeybuns got the GF bacon waffle with 2 eggs. And 2 decaf coffees. The coffee was strong as we remembered; the GF pancakes and waffle were EXCELLENT ! The pancakes tasted like the real wheat ones, (I can taste the difference of no gluten, it was a bit lighter and almost melts on the tongue.) The waffle is fantastic, tasted just like a waffle should. We were famished, and just chewed and no talking. We LOVED the food. And service was excellent, and the manager came out to ask every table if everything's ok. Definitely coming back here for our GF fix. Oh, and the final bill was $36.84 with tax. It was definitely delicious and worth it!!!

Sometimes there's a long wait, it's kind of expensive and always worth it. Call ahead if you want to know how long the wait is. I recommend the pecan waffle, crepe, pancakes and coffee. The omelettes are enormous. The potato pancakes are slightly greasy, that's my only complaint. We like it here and come often.

This is a place for breakfast foods lovers. They offer pancakes, omelettes, crepes, waffles, and so many other choices. Coming to the Original Pancake House is always a treat for me. It puts IHOP and Denny's to shame. Their customer service and quality of food greatly trumps other big chain breakfast restaurants. I still prefer the Fullerton location over this Orange location. The Fullerton is a bit smaller but offers a more homey setting. However, this location still holds the essence of what makes the Original House of Pancakes wonderful. Everything is delicious and so satisfying. Sadly, this location doesn't offer the German pancake like the Fullerton location but it still has the Dutch baby. I ordered the Dutch baby and the fiance ordered an omelette. The proportions are pretty big and neither of us finished our food. This is a great place to come with friends and to treat yourselves out to some yummy breakfast/brunch. Very satisfying.

Oh OPH! I have been going to the location in Anaheim for a couple years, but now that there is an OPH in Orange, you would think I would go a lot more often. The OPH in Orange isn't nearly as quaint at the one in Anaheim. There is something about Anaheim's house-turned-restaurant that is so charming, but the Orange location is in a tiny strip mall between a TMobile and a Dollar Store. Run down and rather depressing, this place will definitely give you a bad first impression. At least the inside is diner-ish. If you come on the weekend, be ready to wait at least 30 minutes (they don't take reservations). When we got there around 9:30, the waiting area was completely full and we were in the way, so we decided to walk over to the Family Dollar store to kill some time looking at knickknacks. Their estimate of a 30 minute wait was pretty accurate. Make sure your whole party is there when they call you or else you won't be seated. Our server was very friendly and astoundingly attentive considering how busy the place was. Our drinks were refilled before they were halfway empty, which is even more impressive if you've seen how small their cups are. The kitchen also turns out food at light speed, almost making up for the long wait to be seated. Another big difference between the Orange and Anaheim locations is the creamer sitting on the table. At Anaheim's OPH they have a bowl full of single serve creamers sitting in front of you asking to be stacked into creative towers. It's my favorite thing to do while waiting for my food to come out and I missed it. I ordered the 49'er Flap Jacks s3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com… and split a side of home fries (they don't have hash browns at this location=sad panda). The portions are out of control; you could absolutely split an order and walk out full, but the pancakes are so delicious, you probably won't want to. My 49'ers came out perfectly. Light, buttery, super moist, buttery, and sweet... did I mention buttery? If they weren't so unhealthy I would eat these daily. I've learned that the best way to eat a 49er is to roll them into a log and savor one pinwheel bite at a time. The home fries were what you would expect, well-seasoned and not over or undercooked. The bill was a little high in my opinion. Our pancakes were almost $12 each. I say that's a bit excessive. Ambiance: 3 stars Service: 5 stars Food: 5 stars Price: 3 stars

We came here early Sunday morning with a large party to celebrate two birthdays. The service was fine. They got all our orders right and brought us refills, ketchup, butter, etc in a timely manner. BUT when we were wrapping up opening presents, an employee asked if we needed anything else because they had a party of 13 that had been waiting for 30 minutes for our table and he was trying to clear the table. Soooooo rude. First of all, waiting 30 minutes for a table on Sunday morning is below average at a busy restaurant, let alone a party of 13 (easily an hour wait at most places). Secondly, you don't tell your customers to leave because you need to seat other customers. He's lucky we already wrote out the tip.

Only a short wait at 9 AM on Saturday. The Dutch Baby was light and delicious, hot right out of the oven. Fast and attentive service too despite the busy time. Great breakfast experience all around. Not fancy just good.

The food here was great! They have a huge menu of items to pick from, but there were only three of us that went and it seemed like there were table that were seated after us that got their food first. Overall I would go back because our server was a sweetheart and the food was delicious.

Visited this location a few weeks ago for breakfast with my BFF. I like this one so much more than the Yorba Linda location! This place is an actual restaurant with tables and booths spread out. Yorba LInda is like a school cafeteria, but more cramped, and just not good. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon instead of ham. Of course, it comes with pancakes, so you end up with entirely too much food. It was really good though! Their hollandaise sauce had a good consistency and flavor, and their bacon was awesome. The pancakes were nice, but I barely ate them. I had vowed not to return to the YL location, but I would come back to this one for sure!

I am writing because this restaurant nearly killed my son. After a long wait, we were seated at a table. We did not notice that the lamp was broken. After a few more minutes of waiting, our ADD and ADHD (lucyk us) both got fidgety. A few moments later we hear a loud ZAP and my son had stuck a knife into an open, live, electrical socket! What fries us was that we told the manager and he basically told us to piss off because we should have been watching our son!!!! Idiot. Anyone who knows anything about ADHD boys knows they do things before you can even react. But worse, we asked to have it covered with tape, and he refused. Believe me, had anything happened to my son, that restaurant would be SUED OUT OF EXISTENCE. What a piss poor attitude by the manager. I'd fire him in a second. Anyway, no they are on my suck list. Food wasn't that great anyway, especially with the long wait.

If you are in the mood for pancakes this is the place to hit up. I have been to the original location in Anaheim so what you are missing is the history (and dirtiness). This location is cleaner, brighter, and up to date. I had the order of 2 eggs over medium with 4 strips of bacon (note, 3 will suffice) and 3 bacon pancakes... DELICIOUS! I would increase it to 4 stars but their eggs can be a tad oily, buttery, greasy etc. My wife ordered scambled eggs and they had this lovely glimmer of grease.

    (3)
  • Christine K.

Meh, just meh. I had a feeling this location isn't as good as the OG (Anaheim) one since the reviews aren't as good. Nevertheless, came here this morning since I was craving some greasy breakfast food + bacon pancakes. I ordered the bacon + eggs w/ bacon pancakes and a side of potatoes. The food was very, very mediocre and I definitely prefer my breakfast go to spot (Panini Cafe) over this place. The scrambled eggs were WAY too runny/oily/greasy/bleh and the potatoes were soggy and under seasoned. The bacon pancakes were dry, bland and definitely did NOT taste freshly made. Given the popularity of these pancakes, I bet they were sitting under a heat lamp *FAIL with a face palm* The ONLY saving grace was the bacon - thick slices of savory fried pig without too much fat. *YUM* I probably won't go here again unless I have a major, major craving for bacon.

Came here twice within less than a week. Oh Lawd. First time at the original original pancake house and the second at the orange location. I prefer the orange location since it's a lot more open and the service is faster. My friend got his usual German pancake, and the avid yelper that I am, saw many positive reviews for the 49'ers as well, so went with that plate. Then, the daredevil that I also am decided to order the potato pancakes too cause hey why not? I'm gonna savor the rest of the time I have in SoCal and enjoy its best offerings. The German pancake is soo good, but in moderation, I'd probably get the dutch baby if I ever wanted some. The lemony sweetness of the pancake was great and I particularly liked the crust to give some contrast in texture. My 49'ers were good too but not as good. They were definitely ooey gooey just like the menu described and tasted much better if you let them sit for a while so they're not so fresh and batter-y still. I again, really like the crispy edges on them. Now, the potato pancakes were served with sour cream and applesauce but neither seemed to really go well with potatoes. Since I'm a gotta-have- all-my-taters-with-ketchup girl, I tried them with ketchup. No go. Waay too salty for some reason. Honestly, the potato pancakes were so well seasoned on their own, I ended up liking them better off plain. And believe me, I tried every combo I could think of (potato+ketchup, potato+butter, potato+syrup, potato+applesauce+sour cream, etc.) I think I would actually come just for the potato pancakes if I ever had a craving, perfectly crispy yet chewy, and not oily at all. I went again today, and since the first time I saw it on the menu, I was just itching to try those bacon pancakes/waffles. I decided on the pancakes since the restaurant has them in its name. Oh the piggy in me came out (haha how ironic). My boo watched me put away all 6 bacon pancakes no problem. Poor guy had to watch me devour those things haha. They were so good, not ohmygod good, but really good. I'm glad I got them because they never got too sweet. If Original Pancake House had a bacon pancake eating contest, I'd probably win. The salty bacon flavor really helped balance the sweetness of the syrup and batter, which means = I could eat this for days and not crave salty or sweet. Yumyumyum. Oh, but tried my boo's corned beef hash...eh. It was so peppery and just eh, almost weird. Don't try it.

so i tried stopping by the Anaheim location on a late Saturday morning - holy cow, the line was big enough to fill the entire restaurant again. maybe Anaheim is the original original? anyways, went to the orange location, no wait. awesome quality, i had the corned beef hash and eggs with pumpkin pancakes. first time I've had pumpkin pancakes, and probably the best pancakes I've had in more than a year. $20 for the full breakfast + coffee + tip. a little pricey, but definitely worth spoiling my tastebuds

If I could, I'd give this place 2.5 stars. I guess I'm wondering if these OPHs are independently owned and operated because this is my first time visiting this location and I was pretty disappointed as the one I normally go to in Aliso Viejo, although smaller, is much better. For starters, I ordered a cup of coffee and I couldn't believe how small the cups are. Like, what am I a toddler? They might as well have given me a sippy cup with Princess Tiara on it. Then, not that I'm crotchety, but why was the cream for the coffee rationed out? I know places have to cut but geez. Someone else in my group ordered orange juice and I know orange juice glasses are normally small but this looked like she just gave blood. I did like that they have turkey sausage. I don't do the swine so it's always a nice change when I go to breakfast places and see turkey sausage on the menu. Here's my biggest issue and I take some responsibility for this. At the Aliso Viejo location I normally order the crepes with strawberries. Even when they're out of season, they offer up frozen strawberries. I mean, frozed strawberries aren't great but they're better than what I sliced into. *sigh* I sliced into my delicious crepe and there was strawberry preserves. Now, I remembered the menu and saw strawberry preserves but for some reason I was just thinking frozen strawberries. I know, my bad, and I don't fault them. What I will fault them for is offering up a crepe with strawberry jelly. I woulda rather had a funnel cake. The service was good. Our server was very attentive so I have no complaints there. I definitely will not be making another trip to this place, though.

Yum! Be prepared to wait on weekends! I had the fresh strawberry waffles with eggs on the side. Delicious! Only thing is they put wayyyy to much whipped cream on top. My friend had Hawaiian pancakes with awesome tropical dressing. Fast, friendly service to boot. Will definitely be back.

I actually like the Anaheim location a lot better. Bacon waffle is pretty good but everything is pricey! Not many choices come with sides.. so that adds up if you just want to add an egg! i finally tried the german pancake. Wasn't too impressed. The omelets are nice and fluffy though! Seems to always be a long wait. Get there early!

This place is terrific. The specialty pancakes are worth having for sure. Some are big enough to split between 2 people. The service was fast and the servers were nice. You may be in for a short wait as this place is Very popular. It's worth the wait.

An update on this mediocre restaurant. I had a veggie omelet and although they appear huge, they really are not. THIS time the veggies were cooked and NOT frozen. They use an old parlor trick of the restaurant industry: They make a egg-white meringue and cook it and then call that an omelet. This whips air into the egg and although making it "fluffy", it also makes the omelet appear much larger. This is visually deceptive. it also costs them much less than it could. The omelet was also very tasteless. the coffee was inconsistent and there were grounds in the bottom of my cup :( I will now NEVER come back here again Don't waste your time, go elsewhere.

so... saturday the march 23, 2014, year of our lord... anyhow... my wife wanted breakfast for lunch and remembered there was a restaurant in orange off chapman and prospect, but she couldnt remember the name... we drive there... i immediately notice there is a liqour store called Redhill Liquor... in orange... on prospect and chapman... no where near Redhill and not all that close to tustin... that just seems odd... how drunk do you have to be to end up on chapman and prospect and find redhill liquor.... so... its right next... well somewhat next to The Original Pancake House... ive been to one of these places in San Diego... two octobers ago... i had the corn beef and hash that time... and i remember it was good... not solid... not great... just good... but not good enough to order again... so i thinks to meself... duh... pancake house... order pancakes... after much deliberation, my wife orders hawaiian pancakes... and i order the Danish Kijafa Cherry Crepes... Oh My G.... these were so good... i mean... like seriously among the best crepes i ever had... and then... i took some butter and gently and smoothly covered my crepes with the butter... i first used the flat side of the knife to apply the butter... but no... i could tell... these danish crepes were naughty... so then, i deliberately and softly combed the slightly serrated edge of of my butter knife against the crepes... yeah... they may not have made any noise... but i know they liked it... umm... uh... yeah... point being... with the butter... these crepes almost just about went to 11.... the cherries where very slightly bittery sweet... just... like... i mean... from beginning to end... every forkful seemed like some of the best stuff i ever put in my mouth... on the other hand... my wife was not terribly impressed with the hawaiian pancakes.. and neither was i... i tasted her pancakes... my tongue slapped me for ruining the next bite of my own crepes... the hawaiian pancakes were reminiscent of a half-assed IHOP gimmick... especially when compared to the oral concert that are Danish Kijafa Cherry Crepes... that there is a reason i only offer three stars... the hawaiin pancakes at the Original Pancake House... well... its like making love to a beautiful woman with upturned claws for nails... cause no matter how great the sex (Danish Kijafa Cherry Crepes) is, youre always worried she may scratch you with her feet.... oh yeah... the other reason for the three stars... i know its a pancake house... but seriously... with these big pancake specials... would it hurt you to add a few bucks to the price and throw in a couple eggs and bacon? thank you....

Words can't say how much I love this place, and I've been to many locations but this one is by far my favorite. Sunday is ALWAYS the most crowded of course, but this particular location is especially amazing at getting people in, fed, and out without being rushed while still keeping the line moving. Their bacon waffles and dutch babies are especially noteworthy, as is their extra special bacon (it's seriously unlike any bacon I've ever had anywhere, extremely delicious and worth a try). But really, anything you get on the menu is going to be spectacular. Just remember though, if you order an omelet, they're made with 5 eggs, so consider sharing. They're huge! The staff is super friendly and on the ball. I'm quite impressed with how well they can cater to their Sunday crowds with such efficiency. Way to go, guys! This street has a ton of breakfast places available, but the Original Pancake House always ends up being the one we default to because we know we're going to have a great experience.

There are different things that people look in a food esablishment, depending on what foods are served. Is it more like a diner serving breakfast lunch and dinner or is it just breakfast? How is the service? Do the people that work there smile? Are they friendly? Most of all, how is the food? Do they burn their food? Does it take too long to make and serve to the guest? I have only been to the Original Pancake House twice now, and both times I have found it very pleasent. The second even more pleasent. I don't remember the server's name, but she had a friendly smile and was indeed wanting my visit there to be a injoyable one. The food the first time was much better than the second though. My very first visit, I found the food very delicious, though it didn't come as quickly as I hoped. Where the second time, my large milk seemed pretty wattered down as well as the syurp, though I've never had the syurp heated up before which I find very enjoyable. I do wish it would open longer, it is a breakfast only place which I do understand why it closes when it does. 2PM closing is a pretty late for just breakfast when other places usally stop serving breakfast at 11am. (I am aware of places that serve breakfast all day as well thanks) In conclusion, I find that this would be a very good place to have breakfast if you have time before work to eat that is with an opening time of I believe 6 or 6:30

We all ordered something different to share: The Dutch Babies, French Crepes, and Bacon Waffles. Everything was good but I think the Dutch Babies take the cake. At first service was a bit slow (even though there were only 3 other parties dining at the 8 o'clock hour). I finished my cup of coffee and it sat empty for a solid 10 minutes. Then as people started trickling in and a line started to form, they were much quicker to come around and check on everyone. The coffee is delish. Fresh, hot and tasty. So good I drank it black! If you want to check it out, go early! Otherwise the line gets pretty long. They also have a location in Anaheim and Yorba Linda. I think all 3 get pretty busy

Banana nut pancakes are pretty darn good! The texture and flavor of the pancakes are top notch... One of the best places for Sweedish and other "international" style pancakes! Oh and the omelette are huuuuge and puffy!

The service was okay, but food came out fast. It wasn't the best blueberry waffle I've ever had.

French toast is below average and something I could make at home...I was expecting delicious fluffy French toast and I got soggy and over egged battered bread. Pancakes are good though. Chocolate chip and red velvet are the worth the trip on some mornings

This place is over priced!!!!!! Two specialties and two coffee is over $30??? Wow.. that is way two much for a breakfast in my opinion. Also, the waitress over filled my coffee cup when my friend's coffee cup was empty. This person had no common sense. I will never visit this place again.

I don't know why this place has such a low rating, but where else can you get a better pancake than here @ The Original Pancake House? IHOP's? Gross! Danny's? Even worse. This place serves the best pancake out of all the pancake places I tried. I love eggs and sausage, so I always get the sunny sun up eggs with 4 turkey sausage. And, on the side, it comes with 3 fully, buttery pancakes, YUMMOOO. Today, I took my parents and their friend there for the first time, and they were SURPRISED @ the quality of food they were getting for the price. At first, my dad was thinking this was just another place like Danny's or IHop's, but when he took the first bite into his mushroom omelet with cheddar cheese; I did not hear speak again until he was finished. My mom ordered Canadian bacon with sunny side up eggs, which she was really pleased with. She stated that her bacon tasted fresh, not like one of those frozen forever ham. My mom's friend ordered the egg benedict, which she devoured. She loved how the eggs were poached perfectly with the yokes oozing out. We also ordered a side of bacon. Unlike the bacon at Danny's or IHop's, it was thick, fresh, and "not dry". If you haven't eaten here before, you gotta go try it. The rating DOES NOT do this place any justice!

Got the dutch baby (ate it for the first time). I like the rim but not the interior since it was a bit too thick. Not sure if that's usually the case.....

Came here on new years day to get some much needed recovery food. The wait was about 25 minutes. We were seated in an awkward table in a side room next to the partitioning walls- starting the meal off without a bang. That being said, the menu is full and offers something for everyone. We ordered an omelet, their bacon/eggs and pancakes - the usual. The wait for the food took about half and hour if not more. The restaurant was busy, but at this point we had been at the place for over an hour and still had no food on the table. Get this fixed, we're here for breakfast not a 5-course meal. Service was rushed, which is ironic because the check took another 10 minutes to get said and done. First and last time to TOPH. Save your morning and get fed elsewhere.

Due to the lack of sit down breakfast places in Tustin, I drove to Orange and... Wow, the Original Pancake House is really open at 7AM on Sunday mornings. My son and I walked in at 7:10 AM and were the first customers of the day. Clean and comfortable, we chose to sit in a booth. I ordered the potato pancakes with apple sauce, a side of bacon and a bottomless Dietrich's coffee. My son had the 2x4 - 2 eggs over easy X 4 pancakes with 2 large orange juices and a glass of ice water. The service was excellent. I mean, how could it not be when you're the first customers of the day? On the other hand, I was surprised to find their orange juice to be a strange mixture of Tang-y orange mix and the real thing and their idea of a large size was more like a medium. And they never provide enough apple sauce for the full plate of potato pancakes that you're served. Grr. The bill ended up being about $33 for two people, which is kind of pricey as far as breakfast goes, so a solid three star experience.

A-OK for the food, and "Me thinks not" for the service. We ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and pancakes, and an omelette which came with pancakes. When we ask to substitute the pancakes for a waffle the waitress basically snapped no and if we wanted a waffle it would be full price. Ok fine so we added the waffle to our order. Food took a REALLY long time to come out, when it finally did she never even brought out the order of pancakes that comes with the omelette (that we're paying for btw), just the waffle. Our bill for two ppl was about 42 bucks for breakfast. That's really excessive IMO , especially when ONE strawberry waffle was 10.45 ( just a waffle, nothing came with it ).

When we got our check my small OJ (which was the size of a dixie cup) cost $3.35!!!! Also, my husband's coke cost $3. The weirdest part was that our actual food only cost between $7-9 per plate. I know I sound like an old lady complaining about prices, but honestly...that is WAY too much to charge for a drink. I think the owner's need to revise their drink prices.

Decent neighborhood restaurant off of Chapman Ave. Its a no frills, no thrills Breakfast place. Set in a strip mall with ample free parking. I've eaten breakfast here a few times. The one thing that keeps me coming back are the Apple Pancakes. Its priced high and takes longer to cook, but oh so worth it. You can add on eggs, sausage or bacon, but its a bit pricey. Coffee is hot and fresh. Server's are fast and friendly. Overall a good place to eat.

Very Fantastic Food. Everything is good there. Love their Bacon, Mushroom omelet comes with gravy...nice employee. Other store in laguna is good too, but not the one in Yorba Linda. Very Yummy Breakfast. Highly Recommended. I wish was not expensive so I could go every morning 7 days a week.

I've been to a couple locations of The Original Pancake House and they are all the same. The food is solid, filling, and probably pretty bad for you. Though their emphasis is on their namesake item (and there are like 20 different pancake varieties here), I prefer their savory breakfast items to their sweet. I thought their corned beef hash was really tasty - though whenever I eat corned beef hash, I always wish it didn't look so much like canned dog food. I also like their thick fluffy cheese omelet and their pot roast crepe (cheese and meat wrapped in an eggy shell). Their dutch baby and blueberry pancakes were ok, but the potato pancakes, with a crispy finish, were way better. Overall, a good traditional All-American brunch option.

Great breakfast spot if you're looking for comfy and cozy. The food was delicious! My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly, and I am a huge sucker for chocolate chip pancakes. I think they might have even made it up there to my top 3 for chocolate chip pancakes. The staff was positive and friendly. We didn't feel like we was in the way, which is saying a lot because my friend and I sat at our table for quite some time. Our server totally rocked! I'm just sad that I can't remember her name. She was attentive, checked up several times without being intrusive, and we never had to wait too long for a refill of coffee or water, or a side. She made the whole morning seem like we could just sit back and enjoy our first meal at our own happy pace. I would definitely go back, in fact I intend to. Thanks TOPH!

This is a nice traditional breakfast joint with big portions...I'd say somewhere between an IHOP and Plums Cafe in Costa Mesa ( plumscafe.com ). They serve a wide selection of pancakes like the typical chocolate, strawberry, and blueberry, as well as different ones like Hawaiian (which I usually order), bacon (bacon bits mixed in buttermilk pancakes), and coconut. The Hawaiian is buttermilk pancakes mixed with crushed pineapple that comes with a tropical syrup - $7.65. It tastes just like it sounds, and I like them being that pineapple is my favorite fruit. The tropical syrup tastes like a thinned out marmalade jam (never thought about asking what is actually in it) and definitely goes with these pancakes instead of the traditional maple syrup. And for sides, I usually get the deluxe potatoes (cooked with green & red bell peppers, onions and topped with melted cheese) and turkey sausages ($5.25 and $5.15, respectively). I wish I can go for the eggs too, but the pancakes, sausages, and potatoes alone are already a buffet, and because the sides are a la carte, they add up. Hubby tried the Eggs Michael this time (eggs benedict with sausage patties instead of Canadian bacon) - $10.45. Talk about a hearty start of the day. Coffee is refillable but $2.65 for a cup (better drink up). Other than the pricing, my minor gripe would be the slow service. I've been here during busy weekends and slow weekdays, and the service is the same - slow. Perhaps the cooks in the kitchen take their time (could be a good thing too, I guess)? The servers are nice for the most part.

I'm a fan! This was my first time at this location, and I was a happy pancake eater :) I've been to the one in Anaheim in the mid-90s, and I remember thinking it was pretty ghetto and super crowded. Came here on a Friday morning, and it was really chill and clean. I got pancakes, eggs and bacon. It was all good. The coffee was good, too. I'm usually reluctant to go out for pancakes, as I'm used to my brother's perfect, from-scratch buttermilk cakes. But these were good. The service could've been a little more attentive. We had a large group, and of course they added the gratuity to the bill ;) I don't think I'd even bother visiting the Anaheim location.

Although I'm a bit wary about these "Original this and that...." I was satisfied coming here. For a Sunday morning, obviously the place was packed and a line out the door - what economic problems? Sat in the back and had my order taken, the manager made his rounds - nice to see, waitress was attentive and looked after me well. Food quality was good, and for the most part the place was clean. Also nice to see a kitchen that you could partially look in to. BUT.......the coffee needs some improvement. What I got was slightly burned/scalded. I thought the next cup would be better - nope, not the case. Please look into improving your coffee, use a different brand or look at your coffee making process. The only other gripe was the water. This was plain city of Orange tap water and disgusting at that. Do they even have a water filter? Really, it had such a lousy taste. Please get some Sparkletts or Arrowhead and use that because what you're putting on the table now is really revolting. A glass of water is a simple and nice gesture, a welcoming offer to refresh yourself, hydrate and cleanse your palette before your meal, not to leave a lousy taste in your mouth. Please, I beg you OPH......do something about this.

Amazing food, come starving because they have huge portions. The omelettes are big and the pancakes are huge (if you get the giant one pancake not 6 mini ones). Orange juice is the best I've ever had, freshly squeezed and really sweet. Price is steep: $4 OJ so prepare to drop $15-17 each.

Have you ever been to a breakfast place so depressing you wish you had gone to a Dennys instead? A diner so gloomy that you hoped Bunny and Pumpkin from Pulp Fiction would spontaneously rob it just so you could get away from it all? This OG pancake haus would take the cake for having the most stained ceiling in Yorba Linda; and the 80s called, they wanted their restaurant furniture back! The original pancake house has a boring menu: boring omelettes, boring egg combos, boring crepes, boring everything. Even the buttery pancakes tasted soggy. I wish I were at Flappy Jacks down in Orange. The Irish omelette was a big NO NO. For $23, we got so little food, mediocre food. Service was good though. I just feel bad that the food was incredibly sub-par and the atmosphere was as festive as a nursing home's bingo night.

I like writing 5 star reviews, but I also appreciate it when I read buyer-beware warnings about an establishment. I'm afraid this review falls into that category. 3 orders of pancakes, 2 coffees and 1 orange juice and the bill before tip was about $40!! Our first time here. The place seems very popular with plenty of people waiting for tables. I don't get it. Carrot cake pancakes sounded good. They weren't. Had a weird plastic taste and were dolloped with a peanut-butter flavored topping. Yuck. We had to hunt down a server to ask for regular cream cheese topping which menu said they came with, and they brought that. It didn't help. Only ate ONE of them, they just didn't taste good. Nobody asks you if you're happy with your food. They just clear your full plate into the trash. Lemon Blueberry pancakes were just ok. The lemon flavoring was all in the butter they bring on the side. I don't usually eat butter with pancakes, so this kind of forced me to use it, or no lemon flavor. (They did not remotely compare with Flappy Jacks' lemon-blueberry pancakes that had fresh blueberries, lemon-flavoring in the pancakes and whipped cream. ) These really were just okay: canned blueberries, funky lemon butter and no whipped cream. Small glass of orange juice $3.35?? Bad coffee (typical of any diner -- it's not like they're claiming to be Starbucks) but same price as Starbucks. Pancakes do not cost a lot to make. The restaurant has no interesting ambiance at all, it's just a loud Denny's-style diner, so they're not investing the money there. Servers were pleasant, but not very attentive. We had to get up and find someone to ask for silverware after our food was delivered by cook. Nobody ever comes by to ask if you like your food. Two stars: One because the place seemed clean and the servers aren't mean, just not very effective. One because there must be something that I'm not seeing as this place is popular. But I'll never find out what it is as I won't ever go back. With tip we just blew through close to $50 for a below average breakfast and I feel ripped off.

By far, the greatest pancakes in town. Be sure to try out the chocolate chip pancakes, that come with chocolate sauce instead of syrup. I would suggest skipping the drinks and just ordering water, because they're pricy as fuck.

I've been to the one in Anaheim, in an actual house, and that one is way better than this venue. What took me by surprise was the location, it's located in a weird shopping plaza. Doesn't look like a place for that's like a Mom's & Pop's place. The food is overpriced for sure. When you order pancakes, it's strictly pancakes, nothing else. The omelets are filling though; it is freaking huge! The service was not prompt to our needs, even when getting us our beverages such as water and hot sauces. And they were rushing us out of the restaurant...and it wasn't even near to closing. I got super confused. I like the food, in general, but location and service was very great. So less stars for you!

I love the Original Pancake House. It's absolutely, without a doubt, my very favorite place to get some breakfast. I've been here many times, and my usual order is as follows: - The plain crepe shells with lemon and powdered sugar (mix the juice from the lemons and sugar together, and voila, delicious lemon icing) - A side of some kind of breakfast meat. Their Canadian bacon is probably my favorite, but their regular bacon is seriously good, too. I've splurged and gotten both before. ;) Their crepes are now the standard I use for judging crepes elsewhere. They're thin and perfect, with just the right amount of crisping around the edges. You could pretty much put anything into these things and it would be fantastic. This particular location of the Original Pancake House might seem odd to some, since it's in a random strip mall next to a prepaid phone store and liquor store, but don't let that throw you. Also, if you come on the weekends for breakfast, don't turn away if there's a huge line of people outside. Not only is it worth waiting for, but I've never seen a wait take longer than about 20-30 minutes. When we moved down to southern Orange County, I almost made it a requirement that we live near the OPH in Laguna Hills off Moulton, just so I could regularly get my fix of their amazing food. If you haven't tried this place out yet, be sure to do so!

LOVE their chocolate chip pancakes with a side of strawberries....can you say YUM!!! Of course, being pregnant makes you eat like crazy but even before, I love coming here. Service has gotten a little slower than what I remember, I do wish they would be more attentive to drink refills, but that's because they're just so busy. So it's a hit and miss with service. The last time I came here, I felt like their french toast has shrunk in size. It was still delicious, but I swear they used thicker slices of sourdough. Thick sliced bacon, can't go wrong with bacon, and their potatoes are good too.

Like bacon... Who doesn't..??? I'm talking the trick strips cooked perfectly. The bee's knees. This place is great. Cute, cozy, and packin' em in for breakfast. The food is awesome as you'd expect from the brand. The service staff is outstanding. Best spot to get some bfast! It seems EVERYONE gets the german pancake there. Omelets = yes! Very happy with my meal here. Ps- some tv's too so as to not miss any game action

One word: AWKWARD. So much, that even though the food was really tasty, we could not get over our server's snarky attitude and ate as fast as we could just to get the heck out of there. I secretly wondered if she used to work for Bobby McGee's. After sitting for several minutes, our waitress finally came over to take our drink order but because we had been waiting for so long and the kids were famished, I asked if we could just place our food order. She said NO and then laughed. She was serious. Later, she complained about how busy she was and that she should just pretend to be busy so people would leave her alone. She said I should know because I was a MOM. I didn't know what to make of that comment. How many moms (especially a working one) do you know have time to pretend anything, let alone being busy? Hubs ordered an omelet and wanted tabasco. He asked the waitress for it but she brushed him off with a wave of her hand & without even looking at him to bring a plate of food to another table (who sat after us but were served before us). When she finally returned, it was to complain about how busy she was and that everyone wanted her attention. We felt like little kids who weren't allowed to speak until they're spoken to. Again, AWKWARD. Finally, while hubs was eating his pancakes, she came to clear the table and took away his syrup but left the tabasco. AWKWARD. Entrees = average $10+. Coffee = $2-3. Orange juice = about $5. Side of bacon or sausage = about $5. Total bill = $50, plus tip (not sure why we even left it). Being insulted while we ate = priceless.

Best breakfast place ever! We had a wonderful attentive waiter (Jay, I believe) who provided our family with excellent service. The restaurant specializes in breakfast foods - I enjoyed a platter of fresh strawberry crepes, the child had the chocolate chip pancakes and the hot hubby enjoyed the Tahitian Maiden's dream crepe and we all shared the sausage links and breakfast potatoes. All items were delicious quality home cooking. The orange juice is even fresh squeezed. How awesome is that!? I personally recommend the crepes there! If I lived in the area, I'd be in that place everyday of the week! Nom nom nom!

love going to the original pancake house in redondo beach but since i did not want to make the drive up there.. i went here... came here three times already and all three times it was a-ok experiance ... they will take your order quickly if theres not a lot of customers... the food takes about 40 mins to make (yes it is fresh but at the other pancake house its does not take that long)... once you get your food.. the servier does not come and check up on you ... if you need a refill, you gotta wave him down...

Came here for lunch after a visit to the Irvine Park. It wasn't too busy, but I could tell had we come an hour or two earlier, we would just be getting seated. Hubby got the Jim's special. That thing must have been made out of 12 eggs! Our waiter explained that the cook made a mistake with another order and just added it to my hubs plate. Anyway, had a bite of that beast and boy o' boy was it ever salty and greasy!!! Heavy heavy cheese. Lots and lots of ham, sausage and other meat. Heart attacker maker. My toddler loved it and so did the hubby. Ugh! Just thinking about makes me wanna barf. AND...it came with a side of 3 pancakes! Oy! So for you big meat eaters...its would be protein heaven. Trying to go lighter and healthier, I got the Spinach Crepe with came with 4 potato pancakes. I would have preferred the apple sauce vs the sour cream for the potato pancakes...it was pretty bland. The crepe was not light. Heavy heavy cheese. After the caked on cheese, the onions overpowered the spinach. The hollandaise sauce was pretty good. All in all, it was pretty good...aside from the fact it defeated my purpose of going healthy. The server was nice and coffee refills were consistent. But side note, there really should be a better place for servers who are at the end of their shift, to be counting their receipts than the front door by the hostess stand.

I've been coming to this location since it opened ant he other locations for years. I love the 49'ers and the blueberry lemon pancakes. I haven't been paying attention, but I noticed the coffee isn't as good as it used to be. After several visits with substandard coffee, I finally asked. Yep, they changed their brand about a year ago. o I'm surprised i didn't notice sooner...
