This place is what made me love sushi, and now I can't have any other because I love theirs so much! They chicken teriyaki bowl is my go to favorite, and personally I think it's the best ever. Their sushi is yummy too- aloha roll, shrimp tempura, TC, etc! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Service is great- you don't have a server but order at the counter and they bring your food to you. They refill drinks, bring napkins, silverware! This location can get busy (well, both actually) for dinner, so arrive around 5ish for an early dinner and to beat the rush! Parking can be a beyotch but don't let that stop you from dining here!

This is a trusted go-to place lunch place for me. It's not the best Hawaii - style Japanese plate lunch place in San Diego but it's the best I've found in North county. The service style is that you line up to place your order then take your number and find your seat. They will then bring your meal out to you. It's a pretty busy place during lunch but they move quickly. I've had their saba, their ramen, some of their sushi. I vacillate between giving a 3 or 4 star rating. ..if only judging what's available in North county I'd give it a 4 but since I live in San Diego and know what's available I had to give it a good 3 while emphasizing it is my go-to plate lunch place in North county. The taste is just fine but not spectacular. It hits the spot, does the job.

The teriyaki dish is huge serve with the huge plate. Fish meats are good but not great; but cheap. No table service. Order at the register, get the number, then take a seat. What I love about this place is the area. Seat next to the window; and you'll overlook the city.

What's with this restaurant so crowded inside? What's with their super big plates? Our family we went on a hot Friday night In line we did have to wait... We got to the counter, ordered our food, Paid, and we got a table While we were waiting, my son got upset Sat outside until he was composure-stable ooh ooh...the green salad was good ooh ooh...the potato salad was fine ooh ooh...but all else they must refine! ew-wee-ew...this is just like Tokyo Lobby ew-wee-ew...except the food and service is poor I can't believe what the Yelpers say about here anyway I don't think it's all that The salmon I ordered tasted real bad I could only eat a bite-full or two I shoved the big plate to the edge of the table With this dinner I really was through What's with this server picking a fight? Why do we have to debate? I was minding my business, minding my son When she came over to "bus" my plate... ooh ooh...the green salad was good ooh ooh...the potato salad was fine ooh ooh...but all else they must refine! ew-wee-ew...this is just like Tokyo Lobby ew-wee-ew...except the food and service is poor I can't believe what the Yelpers say about here anyway I don't think it's all that Server asked me if I'm finished And I said "Yes!" What was wrong with the food? Was her behest I said it was too salty That's wasn't her fault She said "We don't salt our salmon" I couldn't get my mouth to halt Well, I told her how I felt She implied that I felt wrong She asked me if I wanted something else I just wanted to write this song. ooh ooh...the green salad was good ooh ooh...the potato salad was fine ooh ooh...but all else they must refine! ew-wee-ew...this is just like Tokyo Lobby ew-wee-ew...except the food and service is poor I can't believe what the Yelpers say about here anyway I don't think it's all that

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Japanese Hawaiian place! The restaurant is bigger than I first thought. There's a bar area up front and then a larger seating area with nice views of the surrounding mountains (super nice for a non-California native like me). Lots of cute Hawaiian decor. Menu is up front when you come in. Order there and then seat yourself. Menu was pretty big with lots of choices. Lots of rice plates, noodles, ramen, sushi and rice bowls typical of what you would see in a Japanese restaurant. They had a lunch special for each day too. I ordered the chicken teriyaki salad plate. The chicken was very moist with a rich sweet barbecue/teriyaki sauce. Delicious! The salad was some basic greens with a mayonnaise based sauce (I suspect that's the Hawaiian influence?!?). It was good too. Portion sizes were good. Service was great - ordered and had our food well under 10 minutes. Pricing was good too. Especially the lunch specials and the rice bowls. You could come here with a few friends for lunch and not spend an arm and a leg but have a good meal.

After living in Japan for 4.5 years this place does it right! They have some amazing Japanese meals and options! I come here for lunch and order out for dinner(it gets really busy) It's nice to order first and then sit down so you don't have to wait for a server! They are very attentive regardless of time or dine in or Togo, and always have the same amazing quality from store to store! I definitely love this place and would recommend trying it out! Definitely try the Katsu Don Bowl! Bomb!

My friend and I have frequented this place every Monday for the past two months and have been nothing but satisfied. Although packed at times, they still manage to give us prompt service and great food at such an affordable price. John is very attentive and does a wonderful job in making sure that our experience at TC is unforgettable. If you are interested in sushi, do not go out of your way to some over-priced north county spot; this is your new spot. They also have wonderful combination deals as well as other delicious plates and soup bowls to choose from. If you are interested in Monday Night Football; well whaddayakno; youre all set at this place. This is also a wonderful place to people watch so if you're into that you will not be dissapointed. 'til next time TC, ;)

This place is a solid three star. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. The spicy miso ramen was quite bland and it had a distinct pork fragrance to it. I have had many ramen's to know what is good and what is bad. The rolls were nothing special. The prices are cheap and the food came out fast. I would not recommend people to come here for Ramen or Sushi.

In a melting pot culture such as the one we have in our great United States, comfort food comes in a plethora of varieties. Some foods remind us of Mom's kitchen classics like pot roast and mashed potatoes. S#!t on a Shingle or girts harken back to the days of the school cafeteria or military mess hall. Still, other comfort foods have become intertwined with traditional American belly warmers and created a new, ethnically enhanced set of comfort foods and for some reason I tend to stroll down an Asian inspired memory lane. Maybe it was the terrible "You don't know any better gwai lo so here is your combination fried rice and have a nice day" Chinese food from Lee's Kitchen I grew up with and would kill for right now. Perhaps my first taste of Sisig, lumpia and what I can only describe as Filipino BBQ beef on a stick I could only get at my grammar School's Halloween Carnival. Whatever it is that started me on the Amerasian culinary path, I have discovered a level of comfort in food stuffs from Korea to Hawaii and (almost) all parts in between. Thanks for humoring me and reading through that first bit. Food has a story and I like to attempt to tell it. Teri Cafe has its own place in the comfort coliseum. It is not a gladiator by any means but, it will put up a good fight. The food is what I would like to call Pacific Island/Japanese inspired comfort classics. The menu has a variety of house inspired sushi rolls, classic teriyaki options in both plate and bowl varieties as well as tempura and other appetizer options. The venue is almost always packed, service is pretty friendly and polite and the food is comforting but, average. This is not a place you would write home about. It is a place that just makes you feel at home.

Had a katsudon at this place last Sunday. My favorite pork dish. It's a fried pork - battered and deep fried ( tonkatsu) simmered in a pan of sweet sauce and onions, then placed on top of a bowl of rice. It's a full meal for me. I would say, however, the portion would not likely be enough for most customers. But importantly, it was really good. I would have preferred a bit more broth/juice to be mixed with rice. Good to know where to go for this dish.

This place is on point. I ordered the banzai my bf had the D1. To my delight the food came out in about ten minutes. The banzai was practically boiling which was puurrrfect. My bfs tereyaki chicken was soaked in just the right amount of teriyaki. We dug in. I tasted savory notes my tongue didn't even know existed. Omg I died in Ramen heaven. My bf could barely finish his plate. If you are afraid of portion sizes fear not they got you. The D1 plate is the practically size of a typical waiters tray or medium pizza pan. I couldn't finish the banzai (but boy did I want to!) The Ramen in the banzai is cooked to perfection. The broth had just the right amount of seasoning and is flavorful and hits the right spot. Definitely give this place a try you will not be disappointed.

Teri Cafe = big tasty portions = happy tummy. I love that you have to order/pay first before you get a table. That way, you can just leave whenever you're done! I got the Yakiniku Plate served with a scoop of mashed potatoes, a side salad, miso soup and the stir-fried beef and rice. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the salad. Mine was literally drenched with dressing that it wasn't too enjoyable. The California Roll was nothing extraordinary so I suggest you order something you've never tried from their menu before. Come here with an empty stomach! You WILL be full.

The noodles are out of control here! I got the chicken curry udon and my boyfriend got the spicy miso ramen. The chicken curry was delicious, the only thing is that the chicken is not flavored so you have to stinky the soup with the chicken for it to taste like anything. The spicy miso was out of this world good but it was only medium in spicy. I would recommend eating here.

Come here all the time. Quick service even when they're busy. May not be the best food in town but I defnitely enjoy their teriyaki plate all the time. Seems like they have a big following since there is always plenty of people at the restaurant. The prices are very good and the portions are big. For that they can get 5 stars. However food is ok, they have yakisoba, sushi, udon and teriyaki varieties to choose from. I will keep coming here regardless, just one of those cravings for this type of food.

Good food OUTSTANDING service. Don't let the crowd fool you, they had our food to us amazingly fast. All of us enjoyed our food but the poke bowl was a hit.

This is one of myth favorite places to eat soup & sushi. I've literally gotten the beef udon soup substituted with Soba noodles every single time except once. I had 37 spots there, which city meet a free dinner and free Edamane. FYI They are no longer doing Spot rewards. The food is great quality and a great price. The saki is good and the service is exceptional. They are always busy and bust their ass to make everyone happy. I would highly suggest going but know that lunch and dinner are busy times. The sushi is great, soup it's awesome, and plates just as good! One of my favorites, including the people. Oh, this location is way better than the plaza Dr location. I don't know why, maybe change in ownership?

This place is amazing!! Oceanside Bowl is a perfect meal. It's a fresh mixture of sushi, seaweed salad, and rice. Great flavor and perfectly filling. My wife got the D1 and it is a very large portion for the low price. Nice service and they are quick to bring you the food you ordered. Miso soup is very tasty as well. Definitely give this place a visit.

Teri cafe. Monday night dinner time. I got the D1 and the wife got the beef teriyaki bowl. It's good it's fast would give it 3.5 stars but will bump it to 4 since we ordered some basic stuff. Salad was really good.

Quick, casual spot for Japanese & Hawaiian food. You order and pay at the counter, sit yourself at a table, and the staff bring the drinks, food, utensils and sauces to you. The food arrives impressively fast, even when it's busy. Be still, hungry stomach. You will soon be fed Japanese yummies. Got the Oceanside Bowl. Yummy! It was smaller than I expected, so it was definitely a light lunch. I still could have eaten more after I finished the Oceanside Bowl. Next time, I'd get an additional item (maybe a sushi roll) to fill me up.

This place is usually great. I've had many different things on the menu. This time was awful. I ordered the ahi poke bowl with salad instead of rice. The ahi was not fresh at all. It tasted fishy and was luke warm. My friend had the dragon roll and said it also wasnt fresh. Major bummer. On the up side - their yakisoba is good and so is their ramen and udon. So get their noodle based dishes.

Walked in 15 minutes before they closed... Stood in a long line... Got up to the counter 8:52pm with a sign that says 9:00pm close... Manager comes out and says they got a big order and won't do anymore. What?? Poor management. Maybe next time they won't make 10 people wait in line for no reason... Put a sign in the door that says they are closed or something

Now I fully understand the deep religious viewpoint and why people come here at least once a week religiously (although talking about religion is optional). Teri's reminds me of the quintessential laid back, chill Oceanside vibe. Great food! I got the teriyaki chicken, potato salad, rice, soup, and loads more! I like the bartenders & that they have sports on the tv! Such a great alternative to the sports bar that has hamburgers, nachos, & other typical bar food! I would rather come here than go to the sports bar to watch a game! **This is where all the locals go**

The food is amazing, the price is low, the portions are large and the menu is extensive. There's not much else more you can ask for from a fast-casual restaurant. My apartment complex should list "basically adjacent to Teri Cafe" as a selling point for potential residents. It's essentially as valuable as "short drive to the beach." I've had several things on the menu, spicy shoyu ramen being a favorite; it's a large enough portion for two of me, so about $8 for two meals. TC roll is under $6, mini chicken teri bowl for $5. Delicious food AND it's cheap AF? I don't hate it. If they delivered, yelp would have to adjust their rating system so Teri Cafe could have 6 stars.

Wow!!! It was exactly like everyone said. Ordered the pork cutlet and I was surprised to see how large the plate was. It was so good I cleaned my plate. He chicken Ramen was also good and large enough for my two kids to split. Will be sure to come back when I'm in the area.

This review is for breakfast. Ordered my meals to-go. Food was okay. I honestly was shocked at how much I paid for what I got, & none of it made me want to come back and try out more. Maybe next time I'll have to dine in, & maybe try something else. This was my first time here and I live in area so I may just do that and update my review.

Love this place, used to go here a bunch in high school when they were at a different location. I usually get the teriyaki chicken bowl, it's never a miss! If you are a family on a budget looking for really good food an portion sizes, plus a good atmosphere and nice staff, this is the spot. Oh! and there are so many options to choose from. I go back every time I visit my family.

Unlike 99.8% of North County locals, I am not a loyal Teri Cafe fan. I've given it several tries both when it was in the same parking lot off El Camino as the old movie theatre and the Vista Way location near Sizzler. It always left me with a stomach ache, no matter what I chose from the menu. My husband received several gift certificates for his birthday and Christmas (hey Teri Cafe - why do you only sell them in $5 denominations?? We have like, 12 of them!!), so we decided to give the newer location on El Camino Real a go. I was reluctant but I'm not generally one to turn down food, and I figured choosing a vegetarian option would be safe. First impression, great decor inside! I love the Island/Tiki feel, and the windows that look out - great view of the sunset! We lined up to order and I asked for a large (22oz bottle) Sapporo to accompany my veggie fried rice. The young man at the counter asked if I'd like it bottled or on draft? Draft. "Do you still want a large?" Absolutely. **FYI - a "large" beer on draft is not 22oz like its bottled brother.... A glorious 34oz Sapporo was delivered to our table. So I had to choose - to eat or drink my dinner? Since I couldn't take beer to go, I drank my "dinner" and took the rice in a doggy bag. It was still tasty the next evening when I fried it up and added more veggies. My food and drink were delicious, so I am now a fan. I will definitely return - if only for that 34oz Sapporo.

Definitely one of my favorite places to go eat for dinner (because D1 is for dinner only and that's my favorite). Been here numerous times and never fails me. Customer service is always on point and they move at a very fast pace! Always busy but food is always put quickly. $10 for salad, potato/macaroni salad, white rice, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, and a California roll. Big portions for a great price but better yet, very good quality! Went yesterday with my boyfriend and I ordered my D1, he got seafood fried rice, and a corona. $20 and some change, can't beat that! Always bring any visitors here because it's the place to go here in Oceanside!

I got the D2 dinner special and the teriyaki was excellent, moist and had a good BBQ smoke flavor. We had a nice view of the golf course at the table we picked. Service was super fast. Tempura mixed veggies was above average. Potato salad was ok, had pasta elbows in it. The salad dressing wasn't for me. The fried rice was good. The green iced tea is the one to get. My friend ordered a Philly roll, we expected salmon and cream cheese. What we got was strange: cream cheese in the middle, tempura fried and a jalapeño on top. Not a good deal for $10 because there is no fish. The food in general is a-ok. Everything is sorta average that I've tried. The crunch roll was good. They do teriyaki chicken pretty well I guess.

I've been here a few times. Love this place! It kind of feels like Hawaiian/Japanese too me. You order and pay at the counter, they give you a number and then they bring you your food. They also have a rewards card system I think, I haven't signed up for it yet though. Last Saturday I went by myself to grab a quick bite to eat before going to Target. I got: - Oceanside Bowl (like a poke bowl but with mixed fish) - Spicy Salmon Handroll Both were good! Only down side was that I sat at the counter and the employees were chatting non stop with a girl, she looked like she worked there but was off and had stopped by to socialize. Anyways, I love the sushi here!

Love this place! Only been here twice, but they've sold me. I ordered the D1 which includes a salad, miso soup, Cali roll, teriyaki on sticky rice and potato salad. All for 10 bucks. Cheap! My husband ordered the Oceanside bowl, which looked equally as yummy. If I weren't pregnant I would have dug right in. The Oceanside bowl consisted of ahi tuna, avocado, and seaweed salad on a bed of sticky rice. YUM! Highly recommend this place. Just check out the photos!

First off this is Hawaiian Japanese food and not traditional Japanese food for you disappointed Yelpers out there! Super impressed with this new location and was happy to wait in line on a Sunday dinner visit. Yes, this place was super Jammed Packed! Enjoyed the friendly staff and menu which contributed to the family atmosphere. Menu has an array of island favorites and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend a visit and revisit for those disappointed patrons. Ramen seems to be a disappointment for most but go to Japan if you want traditional Ramen. To me it was super yummy. I posted a pick of my favorite menu item.

Food is okay at most. It's cheap, so its mediocrity is to be expected. Service is good and their parking/seating situation is hit or miss. Go at a time no other person is eating and there'll be plenty, but go for dinner and it won't be so easy. Needless to say there aren't many good Asian restaurants in North County, which may be why Teri's is so overrated. I've had several different plate and ramen items, all were okay or bleh. But they were all around or under $10 so I wasn't complaining.

Fast, Cheap, and Yummy! You order, pay for your food then pick your seats. You can order to go or sit down. I am always pleased with the service and the food. All the food is a reasonable price that doesn't burn your wallet. They have great lunch specials and sushi is cheap as well! I love getting the tempura udon soup. You can also end your meal with dessert and order mochi which is satisfying! Parking during lunch time can be hectic but worth it once you get in. Been here many times and everyone I take always ends up coming back again!

We ordered take out at 8:29pm Friday night and we were quoted 20-25 min. 9:25 we finally got our order after being told a few more minutes multiple times. After an hour wait we walked with a $10 voucher and missing pieces to the order and hair in our food. Also what looks like a loogie on our sushi roll tray. The "beef" was horrible too. Overall, nothing was satisfactory. I'm not even sure if I will return to the San Diego location after this experience. How very disappointing and disgusting!

I really wanted to be able to give them higher rating, but I can't! The food lacked some flavor and we felt like it needed salt...? Seasoning? Something! But the big disappointment was when we sat at the bar to wait for our food, saw that they had shock top on tap and got excited .... Ordered and prepaid for 2 beers, only to have to get a refund because they couldn't get the keg in working condition! Ugh! Disappointed ... We will try it again but will try something else next time. Yaki soba not so soba! THE POTATO SALAD WAS BOMB!!! Yum!

Teri's! I love you!! No, really, I love you!! If I could eat here everyday, I probably would. This place is equal in deliciousness as my favorite childhood place in santee and the other place I've been going to for 22 years!! Teri's- I'm not sure how long they've been around but no break up with ever stop me from coming here! Granted, I first came here on a first date and since the very first time I've ordered the Dinner Special #1- Cali roll, steamed white rice, miso soup, potato salad, salad, and teriyaki chicken. All for like 10 bucks! And the plate is HUGE! You could share but I don't know why you'd want to! Lol. There usually ends up being a big line coming here is you wait too long but I've learned the tip from the regulars and always choose to sit at the bar, grab a drink and you can order there too. The service is always friendly and fast. You start to recognize and know the waiters and I've never had a single complaint coming here either. Just that I probably kill my diet way too many times coming here but even then this place is healthy and I can get around it. Good vibes. Good food. Great location. Love it. :D

On the way to The flower fields, not many good places to eat around the area. Teri cafe seemed to have two locations, this is one next to a golf course with its great view. It is a casual cafeteria style ramen and rolls place. Order first, take a number and find a seat. Seats rotate fast since it is a casual dining place. They also have a tikki themed bar. Unlike other Japanese Chashu ramen, the soup is not too greasy. Pork was very tender and juicy. Generous portion. Pork wasn't stinky and noodle quality was just the same as other famous ramen places. Philadelphia cream cheese rolls are filled with very fresh salmon chunk, cream cheese and fresh avocado. Rice was cooked to a perfection and portion was at right amount. I can't find a good quality delicious rolls even at other upper scale sushi restaurants. Love the view, good food, relaxation, casual yet still attentive services, I am gonna have to find a reason to come back here again even though it is pretty far.

Finally got to see what all the fuss is about and now I know why. Awesome food choices, many healthy options and great flavors. I got the lunch special which was Teri chicken and fried shrimp in a bowl with rice. The teriyaki sauce was delicious and the bowl was great filling and still healthy. The costumer service was great, friendly staff and helpful when I made my order choice. For sure going to return

I need to get up to O'side more often. Today I was randomly driving up el camino real and I randomly pulled over and walked into Terri's. Randomly. I'm so glad I did!!! Servers were friendly. Food came fast and was delicious. I got a California roll, a beer, tempura, and noodles. ONLY $18.75 total!!!! Score. They treated me nice even though I'm dressed like a friggin slob.

Fantastic. I have passed by this place quite a few times but never had an opportunity to stop in until today (Oct 2014). It's located in a strip mall and you can barely notice it as you drive along El Camino Real, and they don't have a sign on the strip malls sign (or if they do I've never seen it) making it even easier to pass. Luckily I walk a lot and anytime I can spot the word "Ramen" I take notice. Today, craving soup pretty bad but uninterested in Carlsbad/San Marcos pho options I recalled Teri and decided to grab a bowl of ramen for carry out. As soon as we walked in we were shocked by how cute the interior was for a strip mall place. The place was pretty packed to as you could hear the bartender call out completed to-go orders and the host stand was buzzing with activity. We decided to take a seat at the bar and have a beer while deciding what to eat. I am not a pork eater and have not been since childhood. It's difficult to find Ramen, which I have yet to master at home, that does not contain pork either sliced in the dish or simply in the broth. Additionally, I despise eggs if I can see or taste them. Sure, maybe you say ramen then is not for me...but when I can find a good one minus those items, I am a very happy camper. Teri, thankfully is one of those places I can still have a bowl. I selected a chicken broth bowl with stir fry veggies and chicken slices and we ordered our beers. The bartender was a really great guy who took time to tell us more about Teri, and fan favorites on the menu. His enthusiasm and kindness I find a rarity nowadays so it was much appreciated. Even as we were getting ready to leave, he made sure to give us a to-go menu, circle the number, and let us know about how much time to call ahead if we were in a hurry in the future. The to go bag was packaged perfectly! Something few places do well with soups, but with Teri, I had little worry about spillage in the car. At home, I then enjoyed the absolutely delicious soup and found it incredibly filling and satisfying. The veggies were prepared perfect, and the noodles definitely tasted fresh. Another bonus was the price. About $6.25 for the bowl, which elsewhere I've paid $10-$12 for. We are very excited to return and try other things on the menu and perhaps even dine in. What a wonderful experience.

Having been to both local locations I've decided they both have their individual merits. This location is closer to home and easily accessible from the freeway. It also has a bar when you first walk in that you can eat dinner at if the line is too long for a table which frequently happens. This place gets busy! Tip for sitting at the bar: It's bright and the lights are hot. when the bartender isn't looking reach up (with a napkin) and give the bulb a twist and it turns off. Much better!!! Please remember to screw it back in when you're done. :) I've tried several things on the menu and love them all. Everything on the menu comes out quickly and tastes fresh and delicious. The ramen dishes have great broth and plenty of stuff in them to satisfy a healthy appetite. My personal favorite is the Katsudon. It's a breaded pork cutlet and an over easy egg on top of rice with a yummy sauce and a bit of pickled ginger. SO good! I'd also recumbent the Yakiniku which is marinated steak sliced thin with peppers and kinins in a teriyaki style glaze. Comes with rice, salad (with crack dressing) and miso soup. I also get a sushi roll typically and they're all damn good.. no soy paper available but they can roll most of them with no seaweed for those of us that don't like it. Service is always exemplary and the staff running around do a fantastic job keeping your drinks full and making sure you have whatever you need!! Try it... you'll love it!

I usually give a few more stars, and the way I decide how I like the place or not is simple, I give them three strikes and then I just don't enjoy my time there or give them the time of day they think they deserve. 1) first a soup that was ordered had hair in it, quickly told a server and they took it back 2)they brought out the food for our party of 4 at different times, we felt it was rude to eat until everyone at the table had their plate, witch caused food to get cold and the time it took to get the complete order was almost 20-25 min apart. 3) The last issue I had was the lack of bug control, we killed one bug and swatted several more away, some almost in our food. This is just an opinion, Maybe instead of causing the customer to order at the register you should invest in an at Table ordering system, it would bring you into a new tec world and cause less traffic at the door.

This place is absolutely amazing. The Oceanside Bowl and chicken and teriyaki dinner plates are my go to items. You go to the counter to order. Then you pick a seat that is available and they bring your food to you. For the most part the food comes out pretty quick! This place can get crowded sometimes but worth the wait!

5 years in Japan has made me a picky Japanese foodie. When I went to Teri Cafe, I was expecting so-so food meant to fool the tongues of untraveled Californians. Fortunately for me and my tongue, the chicken teriyaki plate was good--not the best in the world or even my mom's kitchen, but good enough. The one thing about teriyaki plates and places that I'm always cautious about is the teriyaki sauce. Does the cook rely on the sauce to make the meal good, or do they rely on the meal preparation to make it as delicious as possible? Ask yourself that question when you find yourself at Teri Cafe. Don't worry. Picky foodies are always welcome.

Sashimi bowl, beef teriyaki, gyoza, and tuna sushi roll to make for a good portion lunch! Sashimi bowl was modestly sized and contained tuna, hamachi, albacore, salmon, three thin slices of avocado, and shrimp (ebi). The fish itself was fresh, soft, and had a great taste. It came with miso soup which (surprisingly) wasn't too salty!!! With that, I proceeded to drink the entire bowl. The beef teriyaki had great teriyaki flavor, albeit a bit too much sauce. The meat was also slighty tougher than I expected, so that took away from the overall enjoyability. Gyoza was golden crispy on the outside, and meaty and juicy on the inside. The dipping sauce was also less sweet than most that I've had. And tuna sushi roll had a decent ratio of tuna to rice. Overall, their sushi is fairly fresh and inexpensive. I love the dining atmosphere - overlooks a beautiful green golf course on a hill. Definitely stop by and try it if you have the time!

We tried hard to like this restaurant but we failed. Teri Cafe is awful. The service was friendly and quick, but the food was so terrible that I can't bring myself to add another star. We ordered a ramen dish and a shrimp tempura roll with hot green tea. The ramen was gross. I would rather eat the 11-cent packets of ramen you get from the store. This was a terrible dish. The rice in the sushi was so stale, there was barely any shrimp in it (most pieces did not have any shrimp), and it tasted awful. Again, I'd rather buy pre-packaged sushi from the grocery store. I can't remember the last time I couldn't finish my meal because of how bad it was, and thanks to Teri Cafe, now I don't have to. It set a new record. Worst meal I have ever had.

Great service and great food! Although it can be hard to find seating at times which is totally understandable knowing how delicious their food is, it is totally worth the wait! The wait isn't too long, i would say from the time we set our order to the time they bring out the food is a good 10 min. sometimes less if its not busy! Also the price is very affordable especially for the size of food you get. Their food portions are rather Large which makes for great left overs! They are always very fast and efficient and have great customer service! Once when i first started going there i received great help with the menu items from an Employee Ken, I'm not sure if he works there anymore but he was a cool guy! Go here on any occasion or even do take out, the only thing that sucks with take out, you don't get a miso soup as you would if you dined in. But still worth every minute just to eat here!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Great Asian fusion food at a great affordable price. They have amazing Ramen bowls and sushi. No dress code and you sit where you please. Teri Cafe is great for a quick bite or a group gathering. Definitely a must if you come to Southern California.

Take Out and Wait. Take out service leaves much to be desired and should be renamed to Take out and Wait. Called in my order today at 4:30pm today. Nothing fancy, but basic two item take out. I was told 15 minutes. Got there and waited an additional 45 minutes at the pickup bar area. The person that helping me, kept saying your order is coming up. He was more concerned about leaving for the day. Really? Other people that sat down at the bar after me had already received their orders. They were all looking on, feeling kinda bad that they had received service ahead of a take out order. I understand that things can be busy, but when you have a two item take out and told 15 minutes, you should not have to wait 45 minutes or longer to pick it up. I won't be ordering from this location from this point on. Service at the Teri Café at Plaza drive, Oceanside has always been stellar. Forget Teri Cafe at the El Camino Real location and head over to the Plaza Drive location

I'm upgrading my favorite spot to 5 stars as my more recent experiences have earned them! The concerns I had seemed to have been much improved but most importantly, and the reason for this review, the customer service warrants each and every star. Everyone is so friendly but today, this very sweet bespectacled young fellow was taking extra special care with everyone in the restaurant, constantly making sure all were happy. I didn't catch his name but he was there around 4pm or so. In addition to him, the young girl who took my order has always been so unbelievably sweet and smiley, I figured they alone deserved the upgrade to 5 stars.

Was very fond of this place when I lived in the area. I would always get the katsu plate. They also have great rolls here too. Great priced and large portions. Their dressing for the side salad is so yummy. Dine inside or on the patio.

The food here is so good!!! Not even that expensive & they serve you pretty damn quickly! Very impressed. The Gyoza is delicious! The ramen is to die for & you def have enough for leftovers. To top it all off, every1 that works there is really nice. Great food & customer service. What more can you ask for?!

I will usually stop in here after the gym if I am too lazy to make myself some dinner. It seems to always be pretty busy! I haven't tried the "Hawaiian" aspect of the food, just the sushi-side. My husband did get a ramen and said he liked the flavor, etc. He's pretty picky, so that's a good sign. I've gotten the sashimi bowl, sashimi salad, Oceanside bowl and teriyaki chicken bowl. All were tasty and good. Sashimi salad is a little bit on the small side. I probably wouldn't get that again. All and all a pretty good experience!

We had the ahi poke bowl, fire roll and spicy tuna roll. They said the ahi poke bowl was spicy and it was not at all which left me pretty disappointed. The fire roll and spicy tuna was okay nothin special. I wasn't blown away by the food but i didn't not like it. I may return to try other options but i dont think i will anytime soon

This is one of my favorite places to eat! The parking lot is a bit strange, but there is a lot of room. The service here is super nice! The lady that normally works the register knows my usual order which is a plus and suggests lots of good things to try! Ive been eating here since i was a kid and i still haven't tried everything on the menu! The prices are fairly low too, which is great for a student. The portions here are huge as well! I can take down a ton of food and always have something to take home! The sushi is always good too, and the combo plates remind me of home cooked dinners dad makes! The beef yakisoba is really good! The oceanside bowl is another treat if you like fish! As the weather cools down though, the soups are perfect! The banzai ramen is good if you like vegetables, but the spicy miso ramen is the best ( my dinner tonight! )

    (5)
  • Madison M.

Staff was all friendly. Udon noodle soup with tofu added was great, everything come out fairly fast. The soup bowls are huge and plenty to fill you up without having to get a ton of different things. I want to go back and try some other things on the menu that I found interesting!

I love this place. If you are looking to get a quick, cheap sushi fix, this is the place to go. I suggest the dinner plate with chicken breast or the sunshine ca roll.

I usually visit the Teri Cafe on Plaza Drive so I thought to give this one a try after shopping nearby. Thankfully, the Teri Cafe chain is consistently good! Three of us ordered the lunch special (CA roll, shrimp tempura roll, small salad with creamy sesame dressing and a drink included) for $23! You cannot beat the price and the quality was excellent! We all left stuffed in need of a nap! The parking lot is a bit of a nightmare and traffic in the area can be discouraging but Teri Cafe deserves a visit

With these chilly nights we've been having, ramen seemed perfect for dinner last night. My boyfriend suggested Teri Cafe since he was down to have chicken teriyaki (he is slowly trying other Asian dishes). We entered through the left entrance and was greeted by a huge menu. From plates, bowls, sushi, ramen, yakisoba-- they have it! Boyfriend ordered chicken teriyaki bowl with a spicy tuna roll and I ordered the spicy miso ramen with pork. The spicy tuna was our least favorite out of the three, but I would still give their special rolls a try before I ditch the whole idea of getting sushi here. Bf's chicken teriyaki was a perfect serving and it was very good! My spicy ramen was the winner though. It was my bf's first time having non-cup-noodle ramen and he thought it was so tasty! It was a little too spicy for me, but I would still order it again! Pork was tender and their noodles have a great bite to them. Coming here again! I would even do takeout!

You want real Japanese ramen!? This is the place. They make their own noodles!! The yakiniku #12 is the go to! Add some jalapeños and boom, off to heaven! They have beers on draft and great sushi rolls! Very original and definitely a top spot in north county, SD! Highly recommend it!

  • Helen G.

My boyfriend and I randomly decided to eat here because we were in the area and they had good reviews and I am so glad we did! We ordered the Oceanside bowl which had salmon and tuna sashimi in it. As a sashimi/sushi lover, I thought it was deliciousss. The price was decent for its portion size and they prepared it really fast. The only thing that could've been better was the service.

Hands down the best restaurant to get you full and satisfied at a very affordable price! With $10 you can get a huge plate with a side of Miso soup, cali roll, potato salad, rice & teriyaki chicken! I love the location of this place, and I would recommend you sit near the window that overlooks the gold course and the 78 fwy. Service here is very quick and you wont find a dirty table being unattended more than 5min. They have a bar (beer only). TV's throughout the restaurant so you can catch the game/news. Any Teri Cafe will have a similar above stellar customer service! Because of pricing and their service, this place deserves and has earned a 5 star rating. My gf loves it and any of the locals that knows about this place, raves about it! If I could enjoy teri cafe every day I totally would, but since im a bit of a health freak (trying to get a 6 pack abs) I have to stay away from rice:( AND IM ASIAN!!! AHHHHHH!!! lol I highly recommend this place to YOU. Its great to take a date out for lunch/dinner or even some good friends. There is not one thing on their extensive menu that wont please nobody;)

I am now a regular. I've gone 3 times in the last 10 days. Prompt service. Food is really good and great price. Atmosphere is family-friendly. I go early because the lines are pretty long if you get there after 7pm for dinner. I get the teriyaki chicken or the poke bowl. All the sushi rolls are good too.

I felt like I really wanted to like this place since it has decent reviews and was crazy busy the day we went but I just can't. I recently "discovered" Ramen. Husband had it in Japan and and said it was delicious and a must-try. Well I had it for the first time in Irvine before heading to Disneyland. It was freaking AMAZING. Unfortunately, I just can't drive to Irvine every time I want Ramen so I decided to try this place out. It was so disappointing! I felt like I was eating fancied up Top Ramen-it leaves a lot to be desired. We also ordered chicken teriyaki and it was not good. We won't be coming again.

Been coming here for years and was so worried that the location change and larger scale would not be a good thing for service and food quality. But it has only gotten better! Excellent food, excellent service. Always so quick and attentive staff. I bring all my guests here and will continue to be a huge fan of this awesome spot. Island style!

Thanks to Yelp for a nice find. The poke and sashimi selections are reasonably priced and very fresh. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to the table. The dining room is very large and comfortable and oversees a golf course. The service is attentive and polite. We would definitely come back next time we're passing through.

Love Teri's boyfriend and I come here pretty often. But I prefer the El Camino location better than the one on Plaza. Food: The boyfriend always gets the #3 with extra rice, salad, potato salad and Teri sauce. Potato salad here is just too good, I have even tried to Google/Pinterest the recipe lol As for me I like to try different things every time like sushi or noodles. Sushi can be on the pricey side and can also be hit or miss. Yakisoba is very good, I'm a fan of ginger and it has plenty of it. Service: It's a order than sit down, so when it's busy it may get tough finding a nice spot. But service here is always great, always nice and I haven't had a bad experience. Teri Cafe is Oceanside's not so little jewel, some may think otherwise but it's plenty of food for a good price.

    (5)
  • Steve D.

This place isn't really a sushi place, but the sushi here is better than at a sushi restaurant. The rice is sticky, you can stab it with one chop stock and it still won't break apart. Ramen bowls with the egg are great. Throw some hot sauce on it and you're in business. The "shashimi bowl" is the BEST!!! Not shashimi roll......it is the shashimi roll and it is better than anything.

  • Angela C.

Oh Teri Cafe, my casual Japanse-Island casual dining favorite food spot... It reminds me of home. It's affordable, the food is delicious, they serve everything from ramen to sushi to quality combo plates at a great price. You can'[t go wrong by coming to Teri. And did I mention they serve beer? Have a delciious cold sapporo with your yakisoba and get hip like they do in Japan ;) Locals love this spot... as do the non-locals. You're doing yourself a dis-service by not going. Just saying...

One of my favorite places in Oceanside. I feel great after eating the food and come here at least once a week. I usually get the chicken teriyaki lunch special, but the mini bowls are great for my kids anytime.

My mom and I just went in for lunch and got the vegan plate. It was a little watery with all the veggies mixed together. Also, they didn't have many varieties in sauces which my mom and I love to the fullest. I probably won't go back but thanks for the service.

I have probably been to everyone of these in San Diego county and the great thing is is its always great! Made to order and great customer service! There is plenty of parking and the prices are very well matched with other sushi competitors. Nothing will break your pocket and there is a menu full of choices. I also like that they create there own specialty rolls and change them frequently. Always a great spot that will have you seated right away and sushi delivered prompt!

I'm really disappointed with my last visit. My family and I come here 2-3 times a week to eat. They have this check-in system so eventually with enough visits you can redeem a drink or something else. I was waiting in line to get my free drink and maybe I accidentally hit a button or something but the screen showing I was redeeming something disappeared. I proceeded to talk to the woman at the register and told her something happened. She told me sometimes customers accidentally hit a wrong button and the redeem screen disappears. I thought oh ok it happens all the time no biggie right? Nope, she said she couldn't give me anything and I would just need to come back. When I asked to speak to a manager she hesitated and asked me why. After that I walked out. If the cashier needs to see the screen then maybe the check-in device should be at the actual register and not at the very end of the counter. I know some people are thinking "lady it's just a soda". Yeah, it is just a soda but it would be nice to get a free soda after spending over $200 a month with them. I talked to the manager over the phone after I had left and I received the same "sorry, not sorry, you screwed up not us" attitude. I won't be coming to this location anymore. I'd rather drive to the one off of plaza to avoid the customer service I received at this one. P.S. The food is still really good...

Teri Cafe has been a staple in North County for as long as I can remember. The food is delish and the service is pretty great. There are a few locations around San Diego, I myself have only been to the two in North County and they've both been pretty great. I personally prefer the service and the vibe at the location off El Camino real, but to be honest the food is great at both, and the service doesn't suck at their Plaza location either. Many of their yummy dishes include teriyaki chicken, udon noodles, fried rice, a variety of sushi rolls and so much more. My favorite thing to order here is the Salmon Plate which includes a delicious salad with one of the most addicting dressings I've ever had, a potato salad and salmon on a bed of rice. From my understanding, almost all the plated foods come with the same sides, so you won't miss out on anything. The food is so so good, but if you have texture issues the chicken can be a bit yucky at times. It's kind of fatty and dark, BUT they do have the option to order it with white meat only so that's a plus. You have to ask about it though, they won't just do it.

I thought they closed - and last week stopped into a restaurant across the street - and it was that restaurant which moved 3 years ago! I had a delicious dinner ... and went back 2 days later and enjoyed a different dish and it was also delicious! It's time for me to go again - now. Bye!

Love to go to independent restaurants with character. Have had better food but it still good, it's reasonably priced, people are nice, and just a fun place. It's been around for awhile, and it's nice they have a full bar.

You know, I have been eating here once or twice a month for the past 2 years and I have finally decided to place my own review here. Let me start from the beginning of every trip to the end. First you come in and order your food at the register. I have noticed that the same people taking the orders at the register are never smiling or happy. They are not rude, but they don't seem happy and that has an affect on me. Then, you choose your own seat at any table (half the time, the tables need to be wiped down). The view outside the windows are of the I-78 and the Golf course, along with the hills and homes. The service is relatively quick. Drinks come out within 2 minutes of when you sit and your food comes out before 10 min even when it is super busy. The downside to the way service is done here is that you will not have a designated waiter or waittress, so goodluck getting a refill on your drink unless you can catch an employee walking past. I'm happy extra teriyaki sauce and salad dressing is free because usually they do not give enough (but I like my food swimming in sauces). I do enjoy eating here because the food is delicious (although the sushi is bland). I really enjoy their plate dishes and bowls. I give this restaurant 3 stars because of the staff that run the registers and the slowness to wipe down tables by the staff. I also would appreciate someone occasionally walking around to ask if anyone needs refills

I absolutely love this place!!! Spicy miso ramen, sashimi bowl, hand rolls, chicken teriyaki. Everything is delicious here and for a very good price!! The only thing I'm not a big fan of here is the poke bowl. I just don't like the taste lol. Definitely don't skip this place. :)

I actually like many things about this restaurant. Food is great if your looking for ramen and among other Japanese food. Location and the view is also good. I normally order the Banzai Ramen and one other dish to try. Service is great, no complaints. The only bad thing I can think of is their limited lunch and dinner special.

I'm basing this review on two things: the pork tonkotsu ramen and California roll. The sushi was good, but the ramen was a huge disappointment. Only a few steps above mall food court fare. Service is fast, and I was rung up and eating my meal in record time. I have no issues with the staff, and thought they did an excellent job. The ramen was advertised as having a "soft-boiled" egg (as most Japanese ramen dishes do), and I was excited for that. What came out was a green-ringed hard boiled egg, the yolk powdery and nasty, nowhere close to the ooey gooey goodness of a real ramen egg. The pork chashu was good and fatty, but stingy at two thin slices. The broth was thin with little body. The (plentiful) noodles had pleasant bounce, but they tasted like they came out of a Top Ramen wrapper, and for all I know, they did. Bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions, a slice of nori, and pickled shredded ginger finished out the toppings. The shoots were surprisingly tasty. The California roll was a California roll. Nicely seasoned rice with forgettable fillings. I added sriracha to it to improve the flavor. All in all, I would *never* order the ramen here again, nor would I recommend it if you've ever had good, proper ramen. It's clear it's not their focus. It's a huge letdown to anyone used to toothsome porky broth and silky noodles, a pale imitation. I might order the sushi. I may consider other items, but my expectations are low. So sad. Was really hoping for a good, local ramen bowl. Will have to keep looking.

This is a great place for lunch or dinner! Consistently great food! I usually get the #11 Plate. Don't be fooled its the same as the Teri Chicken & Shrimp "dinner" plate for $2 less. Teriyaki Chicken, Shrimp temp & mixed temp, potato salad, rice, green salad, and miso soup for under $10! I also love that they carry my favorite bottled iced green tea, Ito en! They have the Hawaiian aloha canned drinks, and they serve alcohol. Not to mention you can sit with a sweet view of the El Camino Country Club golf course and beyond!

Teri Cafe is AMAZING! The atmosphere is awesome. I love that you pay for your food then find your seat. They have a lot of booths which is nice. The food comes out quickly, and the service is nice. They even have a little bar area for when the game is on. The sushi is amazing, beef udon soup, chicken bowls, and #1. We also love a lot of other things but it is hard to switch when everything is so dang good! Love this place!

Everything is good fresh and reasonable price. Totally a local favorite with a packed house every night. Great specials staff and relaxing atmosphere. Great sushi rolls and teriyaki plates that never let down. If you're in town this is a great little spot for a fresh dinner.

I come here a lot because it is close to Miracosta, consistent, and good. But being Japanese with Hawaiian roots (mom and grandma's teriyaki will always blow this place out of the water!), the food is average. I stopped ordering sushi because the rice was warm both times. I like the beef bowl, chicken curry fried rice, and the ramen, even though Santouka down south has better ramen.

Gem in the rough. This place is definitely awesome for a large group/family. They have large portions and the dining is perfect setting. The price is definitely bang-for-your-buck too. I'm glad I came across this restaurant on Yelp. I am very impressed with Teri Cafe. I loved the personable touch. The gal that took my order indicated on the order how many children were in my party. After we sat down we received our drinks and utensils. They also brought children plates for the kiddos. Elsewhere I always have to ask for extra plates since my young ones can share a meal. They definitely cater to families. I ordered Jalepeno Bomb and Oceanside Bowl, and they were delicious. Definitely coming back!!

Stopped here because of traffic going to sd. Had a banzai ramen. It was bomb. Next time I'll come here just for the ramen.

I recently moved to the area and noticed this place a couple times so I decided to give a shot. It got great reviews on yelp so what the heck. They definitely did not disappoint! I had their teriyaki chicken and beef bowl and it was very tasty. I've had my share of teriyaki bowls and this one was one of my tops favorites. The chicken was fresh and perfectly cooked and the beef was tender and juicy. They are a little pricy, but the portions are huge here. I could have easily shared my food with another person. Great food and great atmosphere. Definitely on my recommend list.

Everything I've had is super good!!! Ambience is nice, especially the raggae music! Staff is attentive and overall just a great place, They even have the salmon skin salad which is one of faves!

When you type in ramen on yelp this place shows up. It looked like a menu filled with a lite bit of this and that with Japanese and Hawaiian food. When you get here you just have to eat a little of both. You walk in and place your order at the counter and then they give you a number where they will bring your food out. It's kind of like the Panera bread style. My friends and my family came here after a long day at legoland and the ramen was just perfect to end the day with. The broth was delicious and I felt full and not feel like I was short on the ramen noodles like I feel like at most ramen places. No extra order of noodles needed here! Well, it could also be the huge combo Hawaiian plate that came out that I quietly snuck several bites from the hubby's plate. It got petty busy towards the night and found people waiting for tables but they do have the same restaurant across the street too! Anyways, it was a good find after a long day with the kids at the amusement park. Way not to disappoint yelpers with this reviews!

This place is the best! We eat here a few times a month, and here are our favs: Poke bowl, chicken yakisoba, inari (just like mom makes!), and ALL of their sushi rolls. Oh, and the fried rice is great too. Try the curry fried rice for some zing! When they're busy, they may not answer the phone, so you may have to go in to place your to-go order, but it comes out quick. Fab food and friendly people!

Good place while down in the San Diego for a visit to LEGOLAND. Large servings of good quality Hawaiian style Japanese food for a great price. It's definitely not gourmet, but nice change of pace from burgers and fries when out with the kids.

Second chances... Are a great thing, I first went to Teri-cafe almost a year ago in vista..and I wasn't too thrilled about it... I decided I wanted teriyaki for dinner, so I went to this location in carlsbad/oceanside... This place has a nice atmosphere and the decor has a Hawaiian look to it and cozy to dine in, and the staff is responsive and friendly.. They work hard and they move fast. I ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki dinner plate that comes along with salad macaroni salad white rice and a garnish of orange....all very tasty and fresh. I don't eat sushi so I'm not sure about the sushi here,. But I will come with someone that does eat it on my next visit. All in all it is a pleasant experience .. And I will be definitely coming back soon. The only thing that I do not like about this place is that they close at 9:00 pm on a Saturday,?! I guess the staff needs time to go out at night or maybe they are family owned and like to give people time to do things for themselves. Either way,.. You should come here!!!

  • Reza M.

We ordered the chicken teriyaki plate.... The chicken was very bad quality... It was all pieces of fat.... The miso soup was very salty and the salad was served with only a tad of dressing.

Love this place. I try to go as much as possible. I think the staff are wonderful and always there to help. I am in love with their Miso soup and the their Fried Rice. So yummy, best around. I enjoy the causal atmosphere and how everyone seems happy to be there. I recommend this place to anyone who hasn't tried it. On those few days that it does rain in San Diego this place is the place to go to get yummy Hot Ramen Soup!!

  • Alex G.

Come on San Diego Yelp.. the fried rice had raw onions in it, it was like they just dumped a bunch of oil on some white rice and mixed in raw vegetables and black pepper. Worst fried rice Ive ever eaten. The teriyaki was untrimmed and full of fat. I do not understand the palate of the collective yelpers of San Diego County. How can this place have so many stars?

    (1)

The gal who took our order was so helpful in finding me something vegetarian to eat. And it's way yummy and inexpensive.

I'm not a fan of this style of restaurant: where you order and pay at a register and have your food brought to you. Especially when you're in a group and all of your dishes are brought separately and you're left waiting for everyone to get their meal so you can eat together. As for the food I got the miso ramen and it was good, but nothing special. Thank the Lord they have Sriracha on every table. I'll definitely go back again, but it won't be because I was craving it.

I love Teri cafe!! The Potato salad is the bomb. I prefer the beef teryaki to the chicken teryaki bowl. The Oceanside bowl or Ahi poke bowl is amazing.

    (4)
  • Shouka S.

I came here with a coworker during our lunch break and loved it! The prices are affordable and they offer different lunch specials everyday. I got the chicken teriyaki lunch specials which is a plate of chicken, rice, veggies, and a side of a California roll. I wish I still worked in Oceanside because this would be a place I would go to regularly. Their food is affordable fresh!

For value this place gets five stars. Good service and generous portions for price. We went for lunch and had a very tasty California Roll for $5 as well as the Teriyaki Bowls. The highlight was the openness of the restaurant. The views from the booths are super!! Will definitely be back!

I say 4.4 for rating. Couldn't decide. The sushi isn't the best, but the price is great, can't beat the price. Parking is not the greatest. The place is cool inside. Nice to order and have it delivered to table. Prices are great, did I say that already? Lots of good options. I have my eye on a couple items for next time. Ope, hang on, stomach a little uneasy, nope, it passed, keep the 4 up there.

I keep forgetting about this place. I've been meaning to try it out but it hadn't happened. Today the hubs and I were walking outta target with two sleepy babies ready to nap. We felt the need to capitalize on the moment by going to lunch somewhere nearby but could only think of lack luster chains nearby. Then almost like an oasis, I saw the Teri Cafe sign behind hubs. I suggested it and we were off. You order at the counter. Luckily there was a line because I always need to study the menu when I'm at a new place. We ordered edamame, eggs rolls, a dragon roll, and the bonzai ramen. All were super yummy. Everything just came out as it was ready. The soup was just what I needed on this windy day to ease my scratchy throat. Broth was awesome. Good food AND baby friendly? I see several trips to this place in our future.

It doesn't get any better than this. Quality food. Everything on the menu is delicious. And such a good value! I'm a big fan of the dinner special #1. For $10 you get a half order of chicken teriyaki, a California roll, salad, scoop of macaroni/potato salad, and a bowl of Miso. Amazing. The service is always great, even when it's busy. Friendly, cheerful, clean environment. No wonder it's a local favorite.

I love it here! nothing is better than my mom made Japanese food but I still like it here. shrimp tempura was great ...in not so into zucchini tempura..I think they should do eggplant, okura, shiitake mashroom instead. overall good place n I do not mind giving my first 5stars

    (5)

Stick with the Sushi and Tempura. The quality of the chicken and beef teriyaki is a problem. Atmosphere is nice, casual. Prices are good.

Teri Cafe is worst kept secret to anyone who lives in Oceanside. What used to be a secret local spot, has now exploded into a MUST GO destination for lunch and/or dinner. Whenever I meet anyone new to the area and they ask, "What's a good place to eat around here?" Teri Cafe is always the first place I suggest. With a great menu that includes sushi rolls, there's something there for everyone, even the pickiest eaters! I should know since I am one. The chicken teriyaki bowl is my go to meal. Sounds very generic, and it's true, this is standard meal item that can be purchased at many Japanese restaurants and sushi houses, but there is just something about the way Teri does theirs that sets them apart and above the rest. From the delicious pieces of BBQ chicken they use to the amazingly delicious teriyaki sauce, you can't expect this explosion of flavor anywhere else. In fact, it's their teriyaki sauce that made them who they are. So much so, that's where the "Teri" in Teri Cafe comes from. The service is fast, friendly and always on point. You can oder your meals to your specifications (i.e. without vegetables, extra rice or teriyaki sauce, etc.) and their plates always have more than enough food so you're rarely left wanting more. Unlimited refills on soda and the ability to phone-in orders and order to go are other perks. I will say to be prepared for a bit of wait and trouble finding seating depending on the time you go. They have a pretty gnarly lunch and dinner rush around the typical times you would expect. My recommendation is to get there early if you wish to avoid this. All in all, this is a minor nuisance and only furthers my point that this is the place to be if you live in or around Oceanside, CA. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

My husband & I decide to give this place a try. We sat at the bar & ordered the staff was very friendly & nice. I order the Oceanside bowl & my husband the dinner special D 1. The food came out fast & looked very nice. The Oceanside bowl hadbno flavor & didn't really have any tuna or salmon. I found that it had way to much seaweed & was very salty. Even after I mixed it with rice. My husband loved his plate! I took a few bites from it & it was amazing the teriyaki chicken was moist & had lots of flavor. The sushi that came with the dinner special was also good. I definitely made the wrong choice that night. They also don't have a tab system so you have to pay for everything right after you order.

Ya gotta be ready to order when u walk in because ordering is done before u sit. Place was packed so must be good. Service is fast and portions large. They do have beer and wine a sake! Plus sushi. I like it here and will be back

This place is amazing! Cheap prices, that we were surprised that the food is very very good. Servings were quite generous, particularly the chicken cutlet. Sushi was good too. I had the grilled salmon, and that hit the spot!

Here's the thing about Teri Cafe. When it's good, it's really good. The food is flavorful whether you get the rice, ramen, or sushi. However, that's only when they're good. When they're bad, the food is so bland even my dog isn't interested in it. I've had the beef fried rice taste like nothing and the miso ramen taste extremely diluted. Going to Teri Cafe is liking flipping a coin if it's going to be good or not. And honestly, it has been 50/50 in my numerous experiences going there. I don't even like bringing friends who have never been because I would hate to give it rave reviews and then they're having that random off-day. If there was more sense of consistency I would give it 5 stars, but in the mean time I can only give it a 4 because giving it a 3 seems too harsh given the potential of how good it can be. I have noticed I tend to get better tasting food eating in the restaurant rather than taking it out so maybe first timers should try and stick around and see if their first Teri Cafe food experience is a hit or a miss. Their staff is consistently nice and are efficient so I have no complaints about their customer service :)

Highly recommended if you are looking for decently good food at a bargain price. It is NOT gourmet cooking here, but he people are SUPER nice. Great bargain and great service are definitely the highlights. I had the spicy miso ramen here, and it was pretty good. The broth was decent, and the bamboo that came with it was absolutely delicious. But I was also able to order pretty good yakimeshi (fried rice) and gyoza as well, and this huge meal was only $16!!! Yes, you heard it right. All in the meanwhile, the servers that brought me the food and helped me out were all super nice. No wonder the place is full of people at lunch time. Highly recommended!

What do you mean you haven't tried Teri's Cafe? It's delicious! Their chicken cutlet (pretty much chicken katsu) is crispy and delicious! Even my picky eater agrees! Their staff is very friendly, once..my baby spilled Bonsai Ramen Soup all over her and the waitresses rushed to help me clean her off. That's pretty much going above and beyond in my book. Seating is a bit limited on weekends, and they have signs posted up "No reserving seats" so just something to keep in mind. Overall, I would tell anyone to give it a try!

This place is FANTASTIC! Food is affordable, tax is included in the price liken it should be, service is fast, and food is delicious! There are good options for vegetarians too (though I wish they had a veggie soup base!)

Was talked to coming back and I'm actually glad I did. Sushi rolls aren't really good here, but the chicken teriyaki plate was pretty good :) First experience wasn't good but second time around really changed my experience. Four stars....

Tried the banzai and it is the bomb when it comes ramen. The vegetable combination is awesome and the portions here are huge. Compared to other noodle houses, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You will come out full and happy. Banzai!!!

Been here now four times. Japanese menu with fairly decent sushi, okay yakisoba, and pretty good ramen. Nothing outstanding, but solid all around. Cheap, no table service, quick turnaround on food, extremely casual. Just a no frills place to get your grub on. Cheap, beer on tap, very popular. Popularity gives this a nice ambiance. Pro Tip: if back door is locked for stupid reason, use front door (sounds obvious, but took me awhile to figure this out).

I have always loved Teri Cafe, but of course I love it more now that it's got a nicer, larger location (and it has for a while now, but in terms of the span of its existence, this upgrade is pretty recent!) LOVE the specials (different each day/time of day). LOVE the general pricing. LOVE the sushi, it NEVER fails to impress. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the size of, appearance of, and overall deliciousness that is the teriyaki bowl. LOVE the atmosphere and staff. Coming from a person of Hawaiian decent, raised on the home-cooking of her Hawaiian grandmother, the Teri Cafe experience is a little taste of my roots (more so than an L&Ls or like-Hawaiian food joint might claim to provide) I've not had a single bad visit to this establishment.

Giant ramen soup. Plates of teriyaki. and my favorite: yaki soba! Came here for lunch with some friends, and got myself a big plate of chicken yaki soba: yelp.com/biz_photos/teri… Pretty standard tasting yaki soba, with some dyed ginger on top. After picking off the ginger I was set to chomp down! One of my dining companions got a giant bowl of ramen and was quite happy about it (and the massive amount of hot sauce that he added to it). Two in our group got different combination plate lunches which were pretty darn big. I felt like I didn't get enough food compared to these plates, but I was full with my noodles. Nice decor, nice view, good food. parking is a little tough on the weekends for lunch.

All I have to say is wow! This place is awesome. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl yesterday and it was the juiciest ever. The sauce was great and sticky rise was on point. It's a clean place there's a bar and the employees are awesome.

One word....amazing! Teri cafe was my first introduction to ramen. While visiting my stepmother in Oceanside she recommended that we try the chicken tatsuya ramen. She ordered for us and I wasn't sure what to expect. When it arrived, it was love at first sip. Although I was full, I probably could've eaten another bowl. Sadly, I live in Austin and I'm unable to cali go as often as I would like. Now with the help of yelp I'm on the prowl for a new ramen place that compares to Teri cafe. Like they say I guess I'm going to have to kiss a bunch of frogs in order to find my Prince...lol...wish me luck in my search for a new ramen spot!

Yum yum yummmmm! LOVE Teri Cafe. I'd heard about it for awhile but lived in Encinitas and for some reason, I never made the 20-minute drive to try it. Hubs and I recently moved to Oceanside and I stopped on my way home from work -- we both have been hooked ever since! We get the same thing every time (creatures of comfort, we'll try different things eventually, but we're so addicted right now!) -- we get a banzai ramen bowl and a teriyaki chicken bowl and split both. The banzai ramen bowl is so incredibly delicious I can't even describe it. When we grab it to go, they always keep the noodles and chicken and veggies separate from the broth and you add it all in at once -- it tastes so fresh. This is a definite Oceanside gem! PS-service is always superb. I've eaten in twice and both times have been good. Usually we just order takeout and it's always ready in less than 15 minutes.

Food is very good and the price is right. Servers are very efficient and polite. Take out is easy but I agree with another review about not sending miso soup out with take out. Lunch specials are fast and easy!

First off the only reason this got any stars is because of how clean smelling it was. It however was so busy that they half ass cleaned the table, but we wanted to eat here so ignored it and I went to the bathroom and grabbed a wet paper towel to clean it myself. Next reason I only gave it two stars is because very few people speak English clearly and when my food tasted of nothing but a clove like ingredient and had barely any chicken on my chicken teriyaki AND yakisoba not chicken teriyaki yakisoba, it took quite a bit and three repeats before someone else came to look at me like I was nuts. She only gave us our money back because I told her we do not live anywhere near here and seemed hesitant about that. Then when she came back with our refund she said "I am sorry you didn't like our flavors." Just give me my money and say I am sorry. I hate when people add unnecessary chatter. My bf just said he didn't like the food either haha so one star this gets

I was highly impressed by the food!!! I had been looking for a good saimin (ramen noodle) house since I moved to the area from Hawaii and this will definitely be my go-to spot!!! The prices are good and the choices are great! The food arrived so quickly! I will definitely be a regular here!!!

We eat here at least once a week for take out. Everything is great but love their poke and teriyaki chicken. Reasonably priced.

    (5)
  • Robin G.

Really depends on what you order... I really like their poke bowl, and I would give it 4 stars. Their green salad, while basic is also done really well and I would give that a good review as well. Their sushi though... not the best. It's not terrible or anything, it gets the job done but it's just really not great. Super easy call-in take out! It makes the process almost painless although they do occasionally keep you waiting even once you get there at the time they say. Never super long but a bit of a bummer. I go here frequently though for the ahi poke bowl and would definitely recommend it to others!

  • Wendy O.

This place is great. Service is fast. Love the #1 teriyaki plate or the yakisoba. If you are on a diet you can always order no rice and more veggies no problem. Im glad they moved to a bigger better place the area is nice and open!!!

Good service but lousy, generic-tasting food. I guess I was expecting more from the great reviews. Had the spicy shrimp bowl with brown rice. GF had the teriyaki bowl. Both were...ehhhh.

I love Teri cafe! The spicy salmon rolls are delicious and so is the poke bowl! The view from the restaurant is really nice. I love the new location. The people who work here are very friendly.

I've been coming to Teri Cafe since the early 90s, when it was located in the Target shopping center. The new location is across the street where Numero Uno and Bruno's used to be. It's so much bigger, better and there is way more parking! So on to the food. The ramen and udon are served fresh and hot, the tempura cooked just right, and their sushi is OK. I also typically order their Chicken Curry Fried Rice which has just the right amount of curry and is loaded with chicken pieces. I've had their Katsu Don and Pork Cutlet in recent weeks and both were good too. It's usually pretty crowded around dinner time so wait times for seating and To Go orders can get a bit lengthy. After all these years Teri Cafe still serves up good food and friendly service that warrants a thumbs up....

  • Jacob L.

Food came out very quickly. Had the chicken terriyaki special.. Chx sucked poor poor quality..very very chewy so many tendons..rice was very stale!! Im a regular at hooked on sushi and that place makes this food seem like dumpster food i hate to be rude but damn this was a huge let down..not trying to be mean just being completely honest for people who think about coming here !

  • Heidi I.

I just had take out lunch from here. It's way cooler inside than I expected, there's a little bar, seating, I thought it was more of a walk-in and out place. I got the Chicken Teriyaki bowl, paid 80 cents to get all white meat, and I also got Brown Rice. It says it comes with vegetables...There was ONE piece of broccoli, and TWO slices of carrot. On Sandi F's recommendation, I ordered extra sauce. I am comparing in my mind to this place in OC I used to love, The Flame Broiler. There's not one near me now, and it's better than this. Way more veggies and the "magic sauce" is better than the teriyaki I just had. But, this is the closest thing now. So I will order extra veggies in the future, and will def try other menu items. I didn't realize they have such a large menu, I'm definitely going back and adding updates and stars to my review...

I have been going to Teri Cafe regularly since moving to the area 4 years ago. I actually found it online, tried and loved it. After making friends with people who grew up in the area I found out that the place is very well known and loved by many "locals" and rightfully so! Banzai ramen is absolutely delicious and pretty much two meals in one (as long as you believe in taking home left overs!) It's a great value for the price. Even though they recently moved from a location right across the street into this much larger space, the place never seems quite big enough to handle the crazy dinner rush and it's "seat yourself" style kind of leaves you to fend for yourself in finding a table. However, the staff always seems to be moving quickly to clean tables and get the seats ready for the next hungry group!

    (4)
  • Stacy Q.

The miso soup and potato salad have really improved in taste. Before these were my two least favorite dishes at Teri's, but now... I think they are really good! I still really love this spot and so does along with a ton of Oceanside. It has a great little history here and it's awesome to see how well they are doing and continue to grow:) It's just so good!!!

  • James T.

I love this place. The prices are fare with good food. It gets a bit crowded during lunch but it is worth it. The ramen is great and I rolls are good too. I tried the beef teriyaki, and it was quite tasted. It is a good place for a quick bite to eat.

  • Serrina D.

I'm not sure what everyone likes about this place. We ordered two chicken teriyaki bowls, chicken fried rice and a salad. The bowls were supposed to have chicken breast, but I guarantee it was dark meat. The meat tasted boiled and lacked flavor. It also had a weird texture. The rice tasted like it was boiled in dirty water. The salad dressing and teriyaki sauce were extremely salty. Fried rice was just meh. I definitely will not be back.

    (1)
  • Andrina S.

We love Teri Cafe! Why didn't we come here sooner? I'm normally not a big fan of chicken teriyaki but I always get that when I'm here. I also like their saba (broiled mackerel). They are always busy, so that's a good sign. My fiancé likes their shoyu ramen. The service is always friendly and the food comes out super fast.

  • J B.

This is a great place for lunch or dinner. Hawaiian vibe. The selection is great and the prices are very reasonable. Parking can be tight do to the popularity of the place at lunch time. It is hard to believe they moved here for more room and they are still packing the place. There maybe a line, but wait it out. The line moves fast. Place your order and pay, (they do not take AMEX) then find a table and place your number on the card holder. The wait staff will bring your water/drinks and food to you. You can never go wrong with a lunch or dinner plate. The sushi rolls are always good. The miso soup is okay but nothing fabulous. My only complaint is that you do not get it with take out orders. :( The potato salad is good and better than I have had at other "like" restaurants. It is not exactly like you get at a true Hawaiian hot plate restaurant in Hawaii...but that is Hawaii. The deep fried shrimp is crispy, the chicken and beef dishes are winners as well. Have a beer or sake and enjoy. The Oceanside Police and Sheriff deputies are always there eating lunch, so that says something. Do a quick business lunch here for sure. Too bad they are not open very late.

Wow,,,, Have not found ANY place in AZ for some good Japanese food.... We stopped in while on Vacation in Oceanside, and the selling point was the view, relax n try out a new spot... First Time there we had some Yakisoba and some Ramen, both were SO Exceptional, that we went back the next day and tried a couple different Items, including the Teriyaki Chicken, Tempura, Miso soup, Spicy Ramen, Fried Rice, and the Ahi Poki.... WOW, We havent had food this good EVER since we were in Japan.. We will be there at least 2 times on every visit out to Oceanside,, keep up the great Work !! Ohh, 1 more thing,, The value is also outstanding.. GREAT food, Great Location, Great Service, and AFFORDABLE...

My review is based on several eat-in and to-go orders in different occasions. In our most recent visit there my husband ordered a teriyaki chicken with tempra plate, and I ordered a teriyaki chicken with fried shrimp plate. Both items are pretty basic that you can get from any Japanese restaurant, but Teri Cafe's teriyaki chicken tastes a little different. Maybe because it is Hawaiian Japanese...? I prefer not having teriyaki sauce drenched over rice that I forgot to mention when ordering my food, but it turned out to be okay. Miso soup that came with the plate was good, but the rice was too soft and mushy. I think they tend to cook rice in that way because it happened more than three times in my orders over the last four months. Potato salad always tastes a bit too bland and can use a little more mayonnaise (preferably a Japanese brand). I got an ahi poke bowl for lunch a few times, and it is always good. It might be too spicy for some people, but it is very tasty for me. Shrimp yakisoba was fair. The flavor of the sauce was not what I had expected, but it was acceptable. Spicy shrimp and vegetable bowl was not what I had expected. I thought it was sautéed with a bit of spicy sauce, but it turned out to be sautéed shrimp and mixed vegetables in a soup-like sauce. Although it was a little messy for a to-go order, the flavor was good. It is basically a Japanese version of Chinese food. I'd give three and a half stars if possible but would give four since food items overall taste good in big portions at very reasonable prices. The lunch and dinner specials are good deals if you like those food items. It is a good place for family and casual dinner.

Came hoping for decent Japenese. What we got was nothing close to authentic. Pretty bland as well. The window view is nice though, and the waitresses are always friendly and fast. Basic food for a basic price.

You can get a "Nigiri Pick 4" for $5.95. You can choose any fish and even do half and half. This is just a tad less then $3 for two pieces which is the lowest price I've ever found. And with three sons eating 16 pieces of Nigiri each this super fresh sushi place is my whole families first choice on any dinner out.

Came here for dinner tonight. Happy I ordered take--out. The line was pretty long. The food was okay at best. I ordered the miso soup, some tempura, chicken teriyaki bowl, and a beef and chicken teriyaki bowl. The miso soup lacked flavor ive had a lot better. And the tempura would have been good if it had been hot. It was cold by the time I got it home. As for the bowls the chicken was really good and the beef was a bit chewy. The prices are decent and you get a decent amount of food. Decent prices decent food heres the place to go.

I've been going to this restaurant for at least 15 years. I are here all the time when I was pregnant with my son. He is going to be 13 in a few days! Teri Cafe is his favorite restaurant. He's a Teri Cafe baby lol! Like I said... You won't be disappointed. They serve a nice variety of foods plus beer, wine and sake. And... They have excellent customer service!!!

Teri Cafe is the best! They originally were a noodle factory only but expanded into the restaurant biz and have the best noodles around along with fantastic sushi specials and teriyaki plates. If you are looking for great Japanese food with a Hawaiian flare, you've found the place!

Okay it's the first time since I've been back to this location since they moved away from the Target shopping center across the way and before I started Yelping. While the place was a lot smaller before, they've got a lot more room, but when I walked up for dinner with some friends, there was a line of people waiting. It was people waiting to pick up their orders. We placed our order to eat and sat down to wait for our order to arrive. My friend Emily's came within 10 minutes, but mine and my other friend's did not come until almost 20 minutes later. While the food is decent and the portions are nice and big, you need to step up your service a little better and deliver 'all' the people's food at the same time. Not good. You didn't even offer us a free ice cream or mochi for the extra long wait. The food is nothing spectacular, but it's okay. I think they try to do a little too much and that's what may be hurting them. They can do so much better if they just concentrate on some of the important things like service and speed. I think another problem is that they have TOO MANY menu items so that confuses people with too many choices and that slows things down too!

Yes! There IS a reason why all us locals go here. It's AMAZING, affordable and the portions are huge. Ramens are super good (they make their own noodles), and the plates are super yummy too.

This is the place for great home cooked food. Albeit, Japanese home cooked food. I am white, land locked, pasty, uncultured, and from Arizona. While at Teri and sinking my teeth into some awesome Spicy Miso I am in touch with a past life. Living on Okinawa while having a cold, maybe. It may not be my comfort food, but it is North Counties comfort food. And, it's affordable.

I love the salad dressing here. I also had the California roll with my dinner plate and the California rolls are delicious! They taste super fresh and are above par from the typical California rolls out there. I heard from friends not to get the fish there so I can't speak for the fish but the chicken is very tender and delicious! :) Yay! Their lunch specials are a good deal because you get a meal and a drink. The service is fast and friendly! This is by far my favorite fast restaurant in Oceanside!

One of my all time favorite places to go. The atmosphere is awesome, the is beyond and the staff is always friendly. I love the specials and yes I've tried it all. I've followed them for 7 years now and whether it's take out or dine in this place is great. Their other location is off Plaza Drive and the 78 in the TJ Max shopping area. There they have great outdoor seating as well.
