This was awful! When we arrived, there were many people waiting. Taking this as a good sign, we put our name in and waited alongside them for 25 minutes. We were then seated in a small, hot, stuffy restaurant with more than one empty table. I was just sitting there and was sweating, I am not sure how the servers were doing it while running around. We got 3 menus and 1 child's menu. My kids are both 11, why would one get a kid's menu while the other got a regular one? 15 minutes later we got to order our breakfast. I chose the hash, hoping that all the great reviews of the food were accurate. I was so wrong. 35 minutes later I received hash from a can. It was terrible! My husband got sick from his breakfast. What a poor experience! I'm so disappointed!

WHAT AN UPDATE: The waitress took it upon herself to increase the tip that I left. Don't sit in Julie's section. What a very sad establishment. ORIGINAL: Fun location, good service. BUT the food is honestly subpar, and your dollar does not go very far. This wouldn't be such an issue, but there are 5 other breakfast places within throwing distance that are streets ahead of this place. Oh well. R.I.P. Longboarder

Yummo! Everything was great I had an omelette, hubby had French toast, the kids had pancakes. The hashbrowns we so delicious! The manager (I'm guessing) walked around and talked a little with everyone go make sure they were enjoying everything. The waitress was also very nice and friendly. She was also pretty quick considering how many tables she had. The restaurant was kind of small. No AC, just had the windows open. The kids got kick at all the 80's decor, they called it "old fashioned". Only complaint is it's a little pricey. Ended up being about $75 for the 4 of us which is a lot to us. On the plus side, food was so delicious and the food kept us full till dinner!

Love the service and the atmosphere! I needed a lot of plain egg whites lol. And they took care of me without question. I can't wait to go back to try more items on the menu. The decor of the place makes this a gem of a find. I believe the owners are from Chicago - Greek ....cool people.

The food was tasty - we went here for brunch on a Friday. The only bad part of the experience was that they sat us in the back of the restaurant where the air was STAGNANT - it got uncomfortably warm, and by the time we left, it was hot. Granted, it was during June.

Good food, but waiting an hour to get it isn't worth it. It makes sense that you usually have to wait 30 minutes to be seated. It's because they take FOREVER to get the food to the tables. Totally asinine.

Great place! Who doesn't love the 80s? Food is good. I looked around at what others were eating and it all looked yummy. Staff was great. I was dining solo and didn't want to sit at the counter. They quickly seated me at a table even on a busy Saturday morning! Keep that in mind if you're in a rush. This isn't a place for a rushed breakfast - which suited me just fine on a Saturday morning.

Service was very friendly and attentive...even though my order wasn't correct (receipt confirms that I said no cheese, but there was cheese). The food tasted good, the pancakes look much better in the photos than what we personally had. I don't know if it's because we ate breakfast at 11am versus earlier morning...but the portion size of what we received relative to what we saw on other tables was not consistent. Otherwise, the relatively expensive price for what you receive is likely due to location (beach proximity). I would go back to give it another try if I had to.

Firstly, I'll give em another chance. Pros: Fun atmosphere and appropriate wait time. Cons: caught them on a bad day... hopefully. Let me start by saying I have been to this diner once before and it met, but didn't exceed, my expectations. It was good enough that when it was suggested we go for breakfast, I was happy to abide. On this experience the wait time was surprisingly appropriate, considering the mass of people waiting outside (15 minutes). We waited about that long and were seated inside. I was bummed to see there were several open boothes waiting as well. The service was prompt and the orders were in within about 5 minutes. Then it goes south... Each meal was served to each person with about a 5 minute wait between people. (Basically, my daughter was done by the time the last person got her meal). My coffee cup sat empty for far too long (one of those breakfast 101 fails) and to top it off, a hair was found in one of the meals! What saved this experience from being a total loss (and me never coming back) was that the manager handled the complaint very appropriately. He explained what had happened in the kitchen and made adjustments to the bill that I was satisfied with. I hope the next time I come in proves this was just a shot of bad luck!

Stuck in the 80s Had this place for breakfast and it was not bad. Simple dishes with weird rocker names. Tastes were common nothing spectacular. Great for those that are into 80s scenary.

We took a little trip to SD and on the way there we stopped here at breakfast club, and I tell you, it's a place that we would definitely come again one day. The people are friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. I had the eggs and bacon and my wife had the surfers burrito. A+++

Wait time is always 40 min and its worth it. The ambiance is all about the 80's. The food is good not great. Try the nutella coffee , it's different and surprisingly good. I tried the omelettes and it was great. The only thing is the service is too slow , at one point it got very frustrating. At the end of the day, it's the beach, amazing people , wonderful weather and good times.

Great breakfast spot. Soo yummy. Menu has tons of selection. Service is good. Super happy with my visit. We came on a Thursday thinking it would be less packed being a weekday. Nope, it was pretty full. Though we didn't have to wait but a few minutes before we were seated, so that was a relief. We were brought to another area of the restaurant that I didn't realize they had. Pretty nice that the restaurant is a lot bigger than it seemed. Got the menu and absolutely loved the selection. They had skillets, omelets, benedicts, breakfast burritos, waffles, pancakes, french toast, etc. and lots of unique takes on different dishes. My husband and I got the Crunchy Munchy French toast and the BCDC Skillett and we shared. Great combo. Really good. One of the best french toasts I ever had!!! Skillet was bacon, ham, bell peppers, onions, cheese and potatoes. Everything was chopped small and melted in your mouth. Was so good. And the eggs were over easy, cooked right. Son got the Micky mouse pancakes, pretty good-though come to find out later that he only ordered it cause he thought there was going to be a cherry on it. (he's got major sweet tooth) The food took a little longer than most places but really appreciated that everything was cooked right. Too often I feel chefs rush in the kitchen and food comes out sloppy and partly burnt, over or undercooked. The food is really what sold me on this place. The environment was a very unique 80's theme with stain glass windows of Madonna and I think David Bowie.. record albums, posters, etc. good for conversation pieces and going down memory lane if you like that. I look forward to going back. Must try the coconut french toast next!! :)

If you're into an 80's time warp with a decent quality breakfast, jump onto your Nash Executioner skateboard or pack the family into the DeLorean and head on down to the Breakfast Club Diner. The menu is completely "normal" in all respects to a West Coast diner concept; you have your chicken fried steak with eggs, your breakfast burritos, your various scrambles/skillets, your eggs benedict, etc. It's all there. The service is friendly, and the food arrives in a hurry. All the while you're serenaded by VH1 Classics while being surrounded by "old school" movie posters and stained glass renditions of Slash(!) and Billy Idol(!!), although the Billy Idol looks more like Jim Jarmusch. There's really nothing to dislike about our experience at Breakfast Club; it's a good place to grab a big plate of food and a damned fine cup of coffee.

TOURIST TRAP! When we first arrived they tried to seat us in a back hot, stuffy room with industrial fans blowing. Gross. There were plenty of tables in the front so we asked to move. Kids menus? "We ran out." Food was comparable to Denny's. Actually, no, I've never had cold eggs at Denny's. All of our food for our family of five was mediocre at best. Terribly expensive for the quality! There are plenty of other better places to eat! We'll never be back!

Love this diner. Very friendly a local favorite. Staff , price and food is always excellent. Staff is always working hard. If you get there to late they get backed up and very busy with large orders. Sometimes can be a wait but so worth it.

The breakfast club, kinda reminds you of that movie riight? Right. Never been here before until today when me and my boyfriend were looking for food to eat, I had been feeling sick and about the only thing I could keep down seemed to be hashbrowns so after 3 breakfast spots with no luck we finally stopped on by. This place is right, I mean RIGHT on the corner of coast hwy and that side street to the library. We almost skipped it actually as it seemed dead but upon walking in I wondered why I had never been before. This place is all eighties out. In a cool, hip local surfer kind of way and the food did not leave me dissappointed. I ordered the all american Monday thru friday special and my boyfriend ordered the french toast combo special. Everything was delicious, to a t. The eggs were big and delicious, the bacon and sausage of high quality with the plates brought out just as they were finished in the kitchen (as it should be). The french toast was just toasted enough. I loved it. The hashbrowns were a little weird, I will say that, as they weren't your typical hash cut potatoes but more of a mix between hashbrowns and breakfast potatoes just by the way they were cut but they were still good. The owner even came on by and striked a conversation with us which was really nice and not your usual typical service. He seemed to go out of way to make sure we were happy and you could obviously tell he took pride in his restaurant and was happy with his business as well. I will be back. To try more of the menu for sure. :)

I was super excited to try out Breakfast Club Diner based on the reviews, but was disappointed in their slow service, which just turned me off from the meal completely. The tables have condiments on them to avoid bringing them out repeatedly, but every ketchup bottle at our table and the ones surrounding were empty! In addition, the gyro burrito I ordered was had scarce amounts of meat in my burrito. Overall, very mediocre experience that did not keep me coming back for more.

Never. Again. I knew something was up when on Memorial Day there was not a line... Had a 1 1/2 year old kid, yet no one offered a kids menu, we had to ask! Took 45 minutes for our food. 45 MINUTES! WTF! Then they forgot my sister's order and made the excuse that banana pancakes take longer....45 MINUTES? Liar. Don't lie, just say it got lost. And my omelet had meat which I asked for there NOT to be. Then the manager came over and tried to suck up to the baby and said he'd give us 30% off. And told me I should have ordered some other item that was similar but no meat. Excuse me? This a restaurant not an auction. We seriously had to haggle to get 50% off just the pancakes. He refused for the omelet. Manager--You get your orders CORRECT. Do NOT tell your customers they are wrong! STAY AWAY from this trashy, low class place. Go to Beach Break. I will never recommended.

I'm a huge 80s nerd, so I had to stop in. Very cute place with a nice-sized menu. The staff is friendly and efficient; during the time I was there it went from quiet to busy and the servers stayed on top of it without making me feel rushed. I had the Oscar omelet, which has shrimp and asparagus and is covered in hollandaise. My only criticism was that the shrimp were the little precooked salad shrimp, so when they got cooked again in the omelet they became pretty rubbery. Still, I would come back and try something else.

Finally! Big Sid, "HAS COME BACK TO OCEANSIDE!!!" Okay it's NO secret, Big Sid talks a lot of trash here on yelp. Heck Big Sid "talks so much trash, he talks trash Even in his sleep, rudepoocandyazz, know your role", but in this case there room for trash talking, because my BIG mouth was full of food!!! Great food in fact! This was my very first trip to the Breakfast Club Diner in Downtown Oceanside, California, and this feel good throwback 80's Diner, that has memories all over the place. From the decor, to the menu, to the amazing service that reminds me of how food hospitality service "used" to be! This place was, NO IS, so FREAKING AMAZING that Big Sid went two days in row!!! Boooooooom!!! Visit #1 Country Fried Steak, eggs, flapjacks, cottage cheese, fresh fruit, a Pepsi, and BACON!!! On my country fried streak GRAVY!!! Mmm Gravy!!! Sausage gravy made with Fatkid tastebuds EXPLOSION!!! Just like the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair says, "Woooooooooooo!" That GRAVY literally talks to you... "Eat me...Eat me...You can't resist FOREVER". "Come to the Darkside!" Agghhhh... I'm so weak to good gravy....I killed it ALL! Okay, yeah they "may" have had to call in a moving crew to get my Fat Azz out the door (Don't judge me), but I couldn't help it. On day #2, Flapjacks, BACON, eggs, and YES MORE GRAVY!!! Do you THINK I enjoyed the gravy? "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!!!" Because it is so yummy!!! Ha ha ha!!! As for the service, Day #1 Becca & Day #2 Heidi, along with the owner/operator Perry aka "P-Dog" COMPLETELY set the bar at level that I haven't seen in a diner for many years. This place is abso-freaking-lutely my NEW place to take friends, family, and loved ones to breakfast and lunch!!! When I went to the bathrooms, in the back, I noticed that there were famous quotes on the walls from the 80's. Some quotes were, "Where's the beef", "What you talkin about Willis", and even "Doc you've invented a time machine", the only quote that Big Sid Matlock is gonna say is this, "I'll be back"! Ha ha ha ha! Well that's it for me on this one, "Until next time America", this is Big Sid out. Peace...

This is my favorite place To have breakfast in Oceanside! The owner always comes to chat and its a great local gem!! The food is always delicious and fresh!!! The food NEVER DISAPPOINTS. Somedays the wait to be seated and the wait for the food takes a bit long but the never ending coffee helps with the wait ! I always take my out of town guest to this place! Its clean and the menu is awesome

I've wanted to come here for a while. I'm glad I did. It was a Sunday and any good breakfast place has a long line at the door. This place was no exception. The hostesses at the door were kind and polite and duly informed us of the waiting time. We decided to brave to 25 minutes and wait. When we were finally seated, we had the most amazing service. Our waiter was so helpful and guided me through the menu. I had a vegetarian skillet and to be honest, it was to die for. The meal came with pancakes as well. Huge and fluffy. My tummy was definitely happy. The decor is eighties and besides making me feel for the youth of today and it's bad music choices, I ended up feeling really old when I knew all the words to Steve Winwood's 'Valerie'. Smh. I knocked off a star because we waited really long for Our food to be served and by the time it came it wasn't very hot. Other than that, I'll be back.

First time here today. We arrived around 11am and didnt actually eat our food until 12pm. It wasnt busy at all and we should not have waited this long. We waited to be seated for over 20 minutes, which normally is fine but there were three tables open the entire time we waited to be seated. And then we were seated at one of those open tables. No reason why we should have waited to be seated. Service was slow but our server was polite and nice. Food was okay. Nothing spectacular....typical breakfast food. The waffle and pancakes we ordered had a slightly orange flavor which we were not a fan of. Probably not visiting here again.

So today me and my sister drove all the way from Murrieta just to try out this very amazing restaurant that we've heard so much about! At first we were skeptical because it was so packed but the owner gladly sat us in the back in a very private area of the restaurant and it was just very peaceful. The atmosphere is very friendly, the food was amazing and OMG you must try the NUTELLA cappuccino! We fell in love the moment we took a sip of it! I ordered the country boy skillet with a side of biscuits and gravy and it was heaven on earth! I highly recommend it! Also the owner Perry made us feel very welcomed he and his staff really go out of there way for you! Our waiter TY was incredibly sweet and amazing, and was constantly there to ask about our food and to see if we needed anything. This place goes above and beyond for it's customers I'm definitely coming back :)

Thought we would give this place a try as they seem to be busy. WHAT A MISTAKE waited for quit a while for the food to arrive and only 1/2 came.... we are just waiting on your bacon. I was told...hummm my partners plate came with bacon on it ..however his eggs were uneatable .. after waiting 15 minutes my "breakfast" came... I understand the theme is '90's but my breakfast looked like it was cooked in 1990...not the 90"s i was hoping for.. when brought to the attention of the waitress she said "yeah I know RIGHT?" and walked away...another waiter came by and asked how is everything? I told him it was awful.... really ? he said.. and cleared the table of two un eaten orders.. our original waitress returns i told her how bad things were and we would not be returning .. she brought the bill not taking anything off because of the complaint.. apron returning my credit card she said what do you want me to do? see if i can have anything taken off the bill??? in a sassy manor.. I told her no I'll just take your tip off thanks... NEVER AGIAIN WILL WE GO TO THIS OVER RATED SLOP HOUSE... Man I miss the " LONG BOARDER"

This place is awesome. Everyone is very friendly. The food is amazing. A great place to start your day. My favorite place in Oceanside to have breakfast. The music is awesome and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Enjoy your breakfast here with friends and family. Lovely little place.

I preface this review with the fact that my visit was breakfast with a friend who was leaving California. So, much of it was spent talking. There were only two other people there so the service was fast and friendly. I ordered The Marine (2 eggs, 2 links, 2 bacon, hash browns, and 2 pancakes). I knew I wouldn't eat the pancakes so I'll bring them to someone at work. The food was good though and well.. I mean.. It was a pretty basic order. Good nonetheless. The coffee kept coming because it got cold pretty quick but that's everywhere I guess. The bill came and she came back to tell me the card system was down. At this point there were about 6-7 other tables. She said she could take my card info down and do it later - a terrible idea. I went to an ATM right outside instead. Thing is once I initially got the bill she stopped coming to give us water or coffee, but did tend to the other tables. The bill is not the end of your table service. Come on now. The space itself was clean, roomy, and wasn't noisy. Not bad overall.

I'm an Oceanside native so I remember when long boarders used to be in this location. When the Breakfast Club opened up, I had to try it. After my first visit I found myself wanting to come back. They have a nice variety of breakfast and lunch. It's most of your basic foods, but some have a little twist. I decided to get coconut French toast on my most recent visit. It was sweet and delicious. Too be honest it may have been too sweet, but that's not the fault of the cook. I also enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant. The decorations are cool. Lots of old records hanging on the walls next to posters of 80s movies. Check it out!

I discovered this place today for breakfast while my car was getting serviced nearby. Corner location. I sat at the counter. Had a pleasant waitress who was attentive but not pushy. The owner was present and walking the tables to make sure people were satisfied. A nice touch in 2015. Two fresh eggs over easy, sausage patties, I asked for onions to be cooked in my hash browns (you can't believe how freakin hard it is to get restaurants in southern California to do this. I don't think Latino cooks understand the importance of onions.) Hash browns were perfect and then those pancakes....really good buttermilk pancakes. Coffee + a glass of milk....and my bill was $12. A great value. Fresh food, good service....give it a try. The place was busy on a Monday....that's a tell tale sign.

I came here with my husband and mother in law while visiting Oceanside and the place looked really cool so we wanted to try it. The service is just flat out horrible! We waited over an hour for our food and I had to ask a busboy for a coffee refill since we were not even checked on by the waitress even once during our one hour wait for our order!!! The ONLY reason I am giving them 3 stars is because the food was delicious, but get it together people! Seriously! The place wasn't even that busy, and even if it was, I would at least expect ONE visit from our waitress to see how we were or to apologize for the wait. Ugh. Food was good though.

I have only been here 3 maybe 4 times. Every single time I am in there everyone working there is full of smiles and good attitude. They work as a team and make sure everyone is taken care of. Perry, (who seems to always be there) is super nice and interested in everyone that walks through the door. He genuinely cares about people and the community. Now for the food. HOLY CRAP IT IS GOOD. I am not a big breakfast person but I would eat there 7 days a week if I could. I plan on making it on my weekly schedule with the Thursday Farmers market.

BC/DC rocks! Great service, awesome menu and good coffee. My absolute favorite item here is the Red, White & Blue French Toast - it's a heaping portion of french toast covered in berries and piled high with whipped cream. Second to that: the Country Boy Skillet. Whatever your preference, the Breakfast Club Diner has a large, well-thought-out menu of excellent options. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The walls are covered in awesome 80s paraphernalia; you can find all sorts of things like film posters, vinyl and custom murals. Very enjoyable experience - highly recommended!

I absolutely love this place. I came in, (this was at 9 a.m.) someone greeted and seated me. ( it turns put to be the owner). I gave my order and it came out very promptly. I actually was able to have a conversation with some of the workers and the owner himself, they all seemed to like to engage their customers and give a good service. I work in the customer service industry, and I can tell when service is genuine or just BS, and everyone at Breakfast Club was genuine. I know I am supposed to balance my review with something negative or something to improve on, but based on my experience (not that there isn't anything to improve on) I cannot think of anything at the moment. The food and drink was good quality. Also I love the theme of the restaurant, I really do feel like I'm at an 80's Ocenaside diner. Everything was kept clean and organized. I really don't mean to seem like I'm giving a biased review but based on my experience at this restaurant I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm a breakfast person... And an 80's lover. My husband and I came across this on yelp, and thought we had to try this place. As we entered the diner you can see that the whole place is decked out in 80's theme. From star wars to back to the future to ferris buellers day off artwork. The staff is amazing!!! Everyone is really nice here and not so pretentious like most places I visit in Carlsbad. The food was amazing!!! I ordered the beef hash and eggs and my husband ordered the Zeus burrito. Let me tell you.. They were both massive dishes!!! I don't know how I even finish my plate.. Definitely feel like heffer status right now because we ALSO ordered the crunchy munchy French toast and strawberries which was beyond words. The BEST part is that they serve Kambucha here!!!! Anyway, 5 stars for food, amazing and friendly staff, and overall experience.

I'm going to make this simple. Walked in still don't know if self seating? A boy walked up again and said sit anywhere (so I'm assuming you seat yourself now) we looked around no booth was open but one. We asked if there was any other seating? They guy said no, asked if there was a back we could sit at? He said no. We looked at the booth that had two loud annoying girls that we heard when we walked in and my husband said NOPE! We would like to enjoy our meal so we left went to Mary's had EXCELLENT food and customer service! We won't be back. We should of went to Mary's the first time. When I worked at all the resturants I've worked at, if a paying customer is asking to sit in the back, you let them sit in the back! That's why they are paying you. Who wants people talking loud or laughing like its a comedien club while eating breakfast? NOT US!

Service: our waitress was alright, she checked on us once and that was probably it. I gave her a "hey I'm looking at you to come here" expression but that didn't happen. Food: I ordered the two two two deal it was good and filled me up. My boyfriend on the other hand, he ordered country fried steak. You could taste the oil and the breading was falling apart. It came with hash browns that were soggy and tasted weird. Decor: it's cool, nice to look at and start a conversation. Btw, we went the pier to walk off the unsettling feeling in our stomachs. Probably won't be back.

Their bacon is fantastic! My favorites include Crunchy Munchy French toast, Nutella Pancakes, Turkey, Bacon, & Avocado sandwich with fries, & Cobb Salad. The biscuits & gravy is pretty good too, it just has an extra kick of spice. The décor is amazing and I love all the murals and stained glass. I used to come here all the time because it is right by my house, but lately I've been disappointed. They changed their hash browns to ribbon cut, and they are not very good. Get the breakfast potatoes instead. I ordered the California burger with a few changes and they just sent me it how it usually comes. I wanted Swiss cheese and a sesame bun instead of whatever it came with and the parmesan sourdough. Had to send it back and when it came back the burger was horribly overcooked.

Bright & sunny atmosphere: the diner has lots of windows and great murals & decorations, and ALL the waitstaff (and Perry, the owner) were extremely helpful and cheery. This is a great place to hang-out - and you've GOT to try the "hash" browns: these aren't your ordinary stringy ones, nor the fat chunks; mine were perfectly crispy on the outside, and super flavorful on the inside! The rest of the food was of excellent quality as well - and reasonably priced. If you're in downtown Oceanside, go to BC/DC!!

Very nastalgic place with 80s rock n roll and movie remunders. Staff is super nice.. food was good and country boy (chicken fried steak n gravy) got heist ed by my son that preferred it over the crunchy french taost. Definitely a fun and family place

I was really surprised when I realized I did not ever finish my review of the Breakfast Club from two years ago, especially since I went there when it was relatively new. What can I say that other reviews have not already mentioned, not a whole lot more apparently. I can say we have enjoyed all the breakfast dishes here. I enjoy the Greek, Eggs Benedict, and the Coconut Pancakes. The coffee is always fresh and plentiful. I am a 80's kid so naturally I love all the relics and enjoy the stained glass. What others may not have mentioned is the large room in the back that can accommodate larger parties and even serve as a breakfast/lunch spot for a work meeting. We went there after being evacuated from our offices during the last outbreak of fires. It was perfect spot to finish a meeting and enjoy some large breakfast platters. This 80's inspired cafe gets packed on the weekends, so I would strongly encourage patrons with no patience to come in early or come after the breakfast crowd subsides, about noon.

Last time I went there a few months ago will be my last. The service took a huge dive. It took at least 15 minutes for the server to say hi or get a drink order. Once we finally flagged her down and ordered, the food took an extremely long time to come out. What was once a great steak and egg breakfast, this time was an overcooked flavorless piece of meat. Food quality and taste went downhill along with the service. The owner whom was so pleasant the first time I went there was nowhere to be seen. It's a shame because I really enjoyed our first visit as well as his hospitality. I have now found a new spot in oceanside besides beach break cafe and this spot.

Food is hit or miss. Pricy and service not so hot. Not worth the wait in line. Many better places to eat in area.

Great Food! My daughter had the crunchy munchy French toast- batter made w/ frosted-flakes and the freshest sweet strawberries, how do I know because I couldn't stop sneaking lil bites! I had 2 eggs scrambled w/ cheese, soft bacon and fresh avocado- best scramble ever if that's possible! My other daughter had the BLT w/ the biggest steak wedge fries- loved it! Will definitely be back. Loved the 80s decor! Just work on getting all our meals out together and it will definitely be a 5 star experience!

Great mom and pop place owner is all about connecting with his customers. He noticed my friend was cuban and offered us a Cuban coffee of menu item it was great.

Hands down the absolute BEST breakfast/lunch restaurant in Oceanside! The freshest ingredients. Owner actually cares and takes pride in every dish that leaves the kitchen. Most seem to be focused on having the best business. Breakfast Club seems to be focused on having the best restaurant............

Their red white and blue waffles are delish and the omelets are hefty. The line to get in though gets crazy sometimes like 30 - 40 min wait. But it's great walking distance to the pier.

My BF and I have gone here two Sundays in a row, so you know we have dubbed this one of our new fav Brunch spots in North County. There is about a 20-25 minute when you get there around 11 am on Sundays, but it's worth it! The best thing so far is the Country Boy Skillet. My BF ordered that both times and it's just a taste that a couple days after eating it, you'll be craving it. I ordered the Greek inspired skillet and it was very good. I'm not much of a "all meat" kinda gal, and love my vegetables. That's why I preferred this compared to the Breakfast Club omelet that I ordered the first time since it has 3 different meats. Service is really good too. Owners are friendly and the décor is a pretty awesome theme. 80's movies!

We just stopped in to this place for the name because Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies, and we received such a warm welcome from everyone and got a chance to speak with the proprietor Perry. What a nice guy! Their food is incredible. We each ordered a breakfast skillet. "Athenian" and "Chicago". Perfection! The place is loaded with totally awesome 80's memorabilia - even the restrooms. I love this place. Will definitely come back!

I read a lot of reviews about this place but somehow assumed that this was a overrated place. The food and great service actually exceeded my expectations. There was a short wait and I got the Tri-tip and eggs. Great deal for the quality and quantity. Friendly and warm staff, will definitely go back

I really enjoyed this diner! The Manager, Jose was great, my server Heidi was super and Ray was helpful and had a great smile.Loved my breakfast, everything was just right and the coffee fabulous! When I asked Heidi about the coffee she was a wealth of knowledge and Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible would have given her 5+++++stars!

My husband and I ate breakfast here this morning. It was very good. I had the eggs florentine with a side of Canadian bacon. It was the best I've ever had, spinach was so fresh, the flavor was wonderful. My husband had an omelet and added bacon, side of pancakes. Plenty of food and service was great, too! The owner or manager was very friendly. We will go back again.

If I were simply rating the stuffed pancakes I'd give them 5 stars. We typically call in breakfast orders, have done so at least 4/5 times now for 4-8 people each time, always take out. Omelettes bland, hash browns flat greasy, no actual potato to be found, looks like add water to make type. Eggs tiniest ever. Sausage burnt and should not have left the kitchen. They are typically packed and we wouldn't mind the wait for good food but meals seem rushed and lack quality control. Especially upsetting this last time because the website attached here to YELP they told us was the wrong website with lower prices so everything cost more than we expected when we picked it up. If they knew that they should have fixed it. Don't worry though BCDC because I notified the YELP team for you. Everyone make sure your web address does not have "the" in it or you are looking at the wrong menu. I may still go back for the stuffed pancakes for me and the kids because they are that good but my husband says he's done. We've ordered several times, several items and always issues from the kitchen.

Although the food is good here, the service is not. We waited over 30 minutes for two breakfast plates. The hostess seems totally unaware of her surroundings and doesnt listen. We got our oj's and one cup was full while the other was a little over half way. Once our server FINALLY approached us (after about 15 mins) it was the only interaction she had with us. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes (we timed it) and in that time the server did not approach us once to ask if we needed refills or to tell us our food was on our way. We ended up paying for our juices and leaving. This is not the first time we're received bad service here. They stick you in the back part of the restaurant where no one pays attention to you and the servers seem to only pay attention to the larger parties. Needless to say we wont be coming back.

Breakfast Club Diner is so cute! Everything from the art on the walls to the attitude of the waitresses makes me feel like I'm having breakfast in the 80s. It was clear that the lady who waited our table genuinely cared about providing good customer service. We never had to wait on beverage refills or the bill. The food itself was nothing special. I ordered the corned beef hash, and it was delicious, but the eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee were all mediocre. Good price for such large portions, though.

First time here. Passing by on the way to Diego and made a quick detour for late breakfast/early lunch. Service was excellent, atmosphere was upbeat and fast. Coffee was great, food had nice portions and tasted great. This is a perfect spot to eat in Oceanside; will definitely be back on one of my weekend drives!

It was my first time going last weekend and first off I just want to say I love the decor. Who doesn't love the 80s right? I was a tad picky with my food only because of my specific meal plan. Ordered 5 egg whites with spinach and some fruit. Let me just say I'm flipping tired of eating egg whites but don't mind coming in every morning for these. I had a piece of my mom's pancakes and they were amazing! Customer service was great as well..no complaints here. Next time I'm hoping I can try their french toast. They had quite a few to choose from.

  • Jessica M.

Extremely slow service. The food isn't worth the wait and the prices are jacked up considering how slow it is to get to you. Save your time and just go to the Longboarder Cafe. It's way cleaner, the service is awesome and their foods is delicious.

California omelette chicken was bland, dry and very little. Was mostly ground broccoli and mushrooms. The avocado on the top was the best part. Fruit was fresh. Service was very slow and took over 30 min to get 2 dishes. Side of salsa is all onions and few tomatoes/ cilantro.

I believe that if you could only eat one meal a day, it should be breakfast. I believe breakfast food is best served anytime. If you couldn't tell, I love breakfast. This little spoon has a great eighties feel, friendly staff and boss food. Try the Zeus burrito, hands down the best breakfast burrito I've had in recent history. Big prop for serving good coffee, no tasters choice crap here. Definitely a place I'm going to frequent when I'm in the area.

Nice little diner by the beach, we always stop by here for brunch. Awesome country fried steak skillet (country boy) & eggs Benedict. Decently priced and pretty quick service. Will continue to eat here, only wish they were open later passed 3pm. Will recommend

I definitely would come back to this place if I lived in Oceanside! The movie posters and restaurant themes were awesome! The chicken fried steak was delicious. If I'm ever back in Oceanside, I'm coming here for sure. The only bad thing was the long wait.

The food was good. It didn't blow anyone away, but it was solid, and very enjoyable to eat. I know I only gave this three stars, but that's a good review! If they had used real whipped cream and maple syrup, it may have gotten a fourth. Very friendly service.

One of our favorite breakfast spots! We are from Arizona and spend the summers near breakfast club. Have to eat there several times while in the area. Stuffed pancakes and eggs Benedict are amazing. Perry is very friendly and a great owner towards his customers.

I don't know why I always forget about this place but every time I remember it, I leave happy and full. Who doesn't love the 80s?! Who doesn't like the breakfast club movie!? Crazy people, that's who! After trying several things on the menu my husband and my order have now pretty much been cemented. Hubs goes for the breakfast burrito which is HUGE. It usually ends up being his breakfast and lunch. I've settled on the veggie skillet. The bottom is these sort of ribboned potato hash browns with yummy veggies and two eggs on top. The menu says something about world famous bacon or something. Meh. I mean, it's bacon so of course it is delicious but I don't feel any more strongly about their bacon than any other breakfast joint. I think they may deep fry it to make it crispy... Coffee is decent. Owner is really friendly as well as the rest of the waiters we've had. Love all the great places turning up in downtown O in the past few years. Keep it up!

    (4)

4 start average is pretty on point. I got an omelette with the hash browns. I got to say the hash browns here are amazing! Try to get a booth alongside PCH so you can people watch.

Came here a few weeks ago with my three daughters for some lunch. I've seen the lines out the door and wanted to see if this place could live up to the hype. We got there just after the lunch crowd had left. There were about 6 tables with customers eating and I counted 10 servers there. We ordered our drinks but waited 15 minutes for them to arrive. Most of the servers were all just standing around BS'ing and not paying attention to the customers. I got a club sandwich and my kids all ordered the children's corn dog meals. When the food arrived the kids all complained about the dogs so I took a bite. The corn was burnt on the outside but still uncooked and liquid near the still half frozen dog inside. The fries were cold. I didn't even bother complaining, I had seen enough to know that this was just a new trendy place that didn't care about the quality of its food or its staff. We left and went to a more dependable restaurant a block away.

Stopped in for breakfast and got seated right away. Breakfast was good and service was great. We are Beach Break regulars, but the wait times there get really old and we were extremely hungry. I'm glad we decided to give BCD a try, as it is a really great breakfast edition to Oceanside. Good food, excellent service, and healthy portions at great prices - I will definitely be back!

    (4)
  • Leah D.

I don't get it. How exactly does this get such high marks, Yelpers? Long wait (20+ minutes) to get seated even with multiple clear tables and open seats at the lunch counter when we walked up. Even longer wait for utterly ordinary, garden-variety food you can get at ANY diner in the US*. And a tad overpriced at that. The staff is uniformly lackadaisical and have zero hustle in their bustle - we were ignored and abandoned for long stretches, several times in a row. They were all quick with apologies and excuses - as well as outright lies about how our food would 'just be a few more minutes' - but then we look over and see the cook flirting with another waitress, and not cooking our food. (We weren't alone in our frustration either. The table of four behind us got their food in two stages - two people got theirs, and then ten minutes later the next two people get theirs.) But there's stained glass images of Billy Idol and Madonna, and a stand-up Pac-Man machine, and 80s schwag everywhere so that makes it... I dunno... Charmingly, nostalgically bad? Never, ever setting foot here again.

  • Daniel P.

If you're a fan of the '80s, you'll feel right at home here, as I did. Fast Times posters and Billy Squier album covers and other gems of the era adorn the walls. It was right back to HS and college for me. The food for breakfast, however, was just average. I always feel that if you put the name of a dish in your restaurant name, that dish or meal should be exceptional, and it wasn't. Very average to slightly below average eggs Benedict. The Canadian bacon was very thick and almost overwhelmed, and we specifically asked for the Hollandaise on the side, which didn't happen, unfortunately. Son had the surf burrito and e claimed it was good, but again, not exceptional. Go to this restaurant for a little nostalgia, if that is what you're looking for.

  • K M.

Service was good and fast for breakfast. Ordered eggs, bacon, toast, English muffin, hash browns for both husband and I. Toast and muffin not done. Hash browns tasted like thy had been baked with no flavor. It's hard to mess up a simple breakfast but the breakfast club managed:(

Anyone who bashes this place should just stay home. The food is all so amazing and I haven't had a better pancake. Yes I've eaten at all the other breakfast places around town but this place has the ultimate * huge portions *extremely friendly service * excellent food * ummm amazing decor!

Check out the bathroom before you eat. You won't eat there. You shouldn't eat there. I had high hopes about this place but was disappointed. The waiter and staff were very friendly but he was quite forgetful and I got my toast a long time after getting my meal. As soon as I saw the bathroom it made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen. I felt sick and left.

My girlfriend and I found this breakfast joint on Yelp. Based on the 4 star reviews we'd thought we'd give it a shot. I had the BC/DC skillet w/ pancakes. The food was ok, good sized portions, but certainly not worth the wait. And when I say wait I don't mean to be seated. We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. We (and the people around us) ordered and waited over 45 minutes for our food to come out - no apology or recognition of the inconvenience. No visit from the server during the meal. Frankly she didn't even deliver the check. I left my credit card on top of my wallet and she came by later and grabbed it right off the top! No check or explanation... That was weird. All in all not the best experience. This would have been a 1 star meal had it not been for the ok food and portion sizes. With all of the other great options in the area, I'd recommend going a couple exits north to try your luck with the Carlsbad restaurants.

My husband and I LOVE this place!! We made it a tradition when we moved here a year ago to eat at this restaurant every Saturday morning from the first Saturday we ever tried it... and it was set. The meals always come out hot, fresh, and definitely taste like Heaven. I have yet to find something I don't care for and every time we have family out for a visit they all want to go here. It's not a chain so you won't find it anywhere else!! Not to mention the staff is all super friendly and cheery every time you walk in. I've never had to wait very long for anything in this establishment. They have a good thing going here. Take some time to try it out :]

    (4)
  • Shaina B.

Large portions, decent food, mediocre service, and SLOW delivery on the meal, I mean, we waited at our table for 45 minutes between putting our order in and actually getting our meal, breakfast at that, it's not difficult to cook those items. Would have been better off going to a Dennys. Wouldn't recommend or go back again

Ohhh yeah, another great breakfast place to add to my list. We arrived on a Sunday mid-morning around 11 am and waited only about 10 minutes for a table. Once inside we realized we weren't where we intended to be... my husband had Googled "the Longboarder Cafe" and it had directed us here. I'm still unclear on whether BCDC took over Longboarder or it's just very close nearby? We were told both so it's still a mystery to us. Looking around at the decor, we realized, "this does not look like the Longboarder.." all decked out in 80s records, sports jerseys, stained glass at the front door of Madonna and Billy Idol, and an incredible mural depicting the shore with Michael Jackson dancing in the water and the Death Star out in the distance. Huh?? Nevertheless, we were diggin' it big time. Our server (Colleen? Collette?) was super sweet. Although it was busy she was buzzing around filling our coffees and waters frequently. We ordered the Breakfast Club Favorite skillet ($7.99, see photo) and the BC French Toast ($6.99, see photo). The skillet was pretty bomb and the french toast disappeared from my husband's plate in about 3 minutes flat. We both were mightily impressed with the quality of food for the price. I easily pay $3 more per plate at my other favorite breakfast joint in Vista, but no more. Can't wait to come back :)

Always busy, so be prepared to wait. Definitely worth it, as the staff is prompt and friendly. Atmosphere is awesome with excellent wall painting and decor. Takes you right back to the 80s The skillets are great! Plenty of food for the price and satisfying without leaving the feeling you just ate a brick and its sitting in your stomach. The Zeus Breakfast burrito is awesome too if you like gyros. Just make sure to ask for extra meat, as by default its a bit lacking. Definitely a place to stop in for breakfast if you're in the area.

Awesome, awesome, awesome experience here today! The owner was very friendly as well as our waitress. My family and I fully enjoyed our meals-strawberry waffles, vegetarian skillet & crunchy munchy French toast... mmmmm:)))!!! Without a doubt, we will me back very soon!

  • Candis L.

The only star earned for this place is for the 80's movies memorabilia. I loved it. The coffee service was great compared to the food service - disappointing. It was obvious they mixed up our tickets somehow and we ended up waiting 35-45 mins before our food came out. It was not that busy and they weren't understaffed. There had to be 5-6 employees hovering the food/ticket counter (manager included) shuffling orders around looking back at us over and over. Other customers had come and gone. Those who waited long as well received apologizes for the delay and we didn't. Wtf? I rarely don't tip but if our server would have just acknowledged the delay she would have received one from us. I've tipped for worse service that was handled better. The food was just OK - seemed priced by location not quality.

Had lunch with my family today and I just love this place! Almost every time I come to town I visit the diner with my family. The pancakes are the best around! Friendly staff, clean diner and reasonably priced. The food overall is delicious but the pancakes.....Amazing! The owner is super friendly too :)

Food was really tasty! I had the Crunchy Munchy french toast! My baby loved her eggs! Service was slow but I think it was nothing more than a busy day and short staffed. I worked in a restaurant...I know how it is. But waitress was really nice even tho she forgot my juice for a while. But over all a good experience. I may go back someday:)

  • Nick P.

This place was awesome. I had the breakfast special with the pancakes and they were really good. I don't know if it was because I was there early or what, but they were probably one of the best I've ever had that if didn't make at home. The bacon and eggs were standard. The thing about this place was the owner was awesome. He came up after our meal and asked us how it was and he was a really good guy. The place had all the good north county surf spots painted on the walls and some crazy 80's themed wall art that was pretty funny. My friends and I will make it here again for sure.

Super soft and moist Buttermilk pancakes! Some of the best I've ever had. Chicken fried steak is decent and the gravy is good, though a bit too salty. Hashbrowns are limp. Fruit is fresh. Coffee is good. Service SUCKS. The girls they have working here have some weird attitude problem. They're all kind of thin and plastic looking with far too much make up. Why? They're all young and from what I could tell, very pretty. With all that clown paint on their faces, they looked horribly old. Couple that with the "holier than thou" personality and you have a guaranteed never-coming-back visitor. Menu is extensive and impressive. Prices are fair and portions are large. Cooked-to-order does not hold here since it's more about speed than accuracy. Generally speaking, I'd say this place is fine. Not good. Not bad. Just fine. If it weren't for the annoying waitresses, I'd want to come back and I'd give this place a higher rating, but I can't tolerate bad service, no matter how much I enjoyed the pancakes. Oh well. Next.

HUGE PORTIONS = HUGE SMILES Had breakfast here and was impressed with the menus, the low prices, the portion size and quality of ingredients. If you're a girl you can share a dish and save even more $! But im embarrassed to say I almost finished my plate alone lol! Order: - Caprese omelette: mozorella cheese is stringy and gooey just like a pizza. Tomatoes and fresh basil makes this dish a healthy hit! Comes with hash browns and 2 pancakes. - Pork chops and eggs: juicy pieces of grilled pork yum - Prime rib: forget steak and eggs THIS is legit steak! Tender and flavorful, you can't go wrong with prime rib. - Pancakes here are THE BEST! Fluffy and it doesn't get soggy with your syrup! I don't know what's in the batter but it's amazingn here. Skip: - Corned beef hash: it's the canned kind. Still good but it's not freshly made which was disappointing. - Belgian waffles: ehh I've had better. Get the pancakes instead! The service is wonderful and the owners are welcoming and attentive. Make sure you check their daily specials for $5.99!

Wonderful veggie omlette. We saw the glowing reviews and had to stop in for a late breakfast with our 21 month old grandson. We were not disappointed. I had the Setzer's (veggie) omlette (see photo) ($9.99) while my wife had a bacon & egg special ($5.99). Both meals were very good and served hot (a big deal for me). Also, our server, Heidi, was great with our grandson and made sure he had what he needed to keep him happy and occupied. The decor is a lot of fun with several 80`s themed murals and a BC DC logo to play on words for the band AC DC. So many reasons to try this place. You will like it.

If you like breakfast, you'll love this place. We come every other week and I still haven't tried the lunch menu yet. Just completely in love with what they do with breakfast! I've taken a lot of friends who are visiting here and everyone raves about this place. All 80's decor, and the owner is friendly and great to chat with as well. Try some of their skillets or breakfast plates. My friend always gets the nutella pancakes which look divine too. Definitely a must try for breakfast/brunch! And on top of everything, the coffee is great too :)

Perry and his staff have always been great to us. Regardless of who is waiting on our table we are never disappointed. The food is never anything less that high quality. Fair pricing for the amount of food served and the speed of service is great, even during peak season in the summer.

This is a nice diner and certainly beats Denny's or MiMi's. It's a cute local diner with friendly, courteous, and quick service. The food was delish. Especially the bacon, it was thick and crisp The hash browns were perfections, soft and fluffy on the inside crisp and brown on the outside. The decor is eclectic but a little shabby in not such a chic way.

Breakfast Club Diner has some ok-good food, but their is a lot of competition around the surrounding area. The one thing that brings down this location is the staff, they are very pleasant but seemed to be very forgetful. Its not like they were just busy and couldn't get to us (even though they were very busy but still managed to service all the customers) we had to ask for parts of our meal several times because the waiter would keep forgetting. he would come out in the area and look at us and remember that he had forgotten whatever we had asked him only to forget again. This happened several times, and not only from our waiter but several waiters, it almost seemed as if their staff was very new to being waiters. I would still recommend this place because the food is ok but be prepared to have to order several times.

Food was ok, I ordered the Athenia omelette and was hoping for lots of Greek meat but got some diced don't know what, it wasn't enough meat to try to figure out what it was. Serves was fine.

Visited for the first time. Had to say that I was quite impressed. I am a big fan of breakfast food, and the Breakfast Club did not disappoint. Appropriately, the decor was 80's-themed. Service was prompt. I ordered a skillet which was very tasty and filling. My daughter got a Mickey kids pancake - she enjoyed it thoroughly. We even got food to go, and our server - Portia - made sure that we had everything we needed. I would definitely come back here again when in Oceanside.

Amazing food, amazing management. The owner is very attentive and cares about his customers and it shows. What could have been a mediocre experience turn out to be great. We will definitely be back!

Love the food here, never misses a beat. Anything on the menu with Zues is amazing. Great for a friendly, family, and pro military restaurant. BCDC is great food and hangout spot.

I stopped in with my wife and in-laws and tried the lunch menu this time around. Let me preface the following with this: I truly, without a doubt, love this place. I honestly do, but let this update serve as both an open letter to our server, and a comment on the food. The four stars are for the lunch. I ordered the Frisco burger, sans avocado. My recommendation (thus knocking off half a star) would be to substitute the mayonaise for a thousand island-influenced sauce and invent some sort of "BCDC" specific seasoning for the fries. Otherwise, solid meal. The other half star knocked off this goes to our server, Heidi. Now, I'm pretty sure we've been waited on by Heidi at least once in the past, and if memory serves that was a less than stellar performance as well. I don't know if Heidi just wasn't feeling well, was hungover, or just doesn't like her customers, but the following took place and led me to a level of frustration: I had asked for no coleslaw (never eat it) with my meal, but it arrived anyway (not a huge deal, but I didn't want to waste the food and I felt ignored); I had asked for extra napkins, and she disappeared for at least 15 minutes before returning to check on us --sans napkins--which prompted me to ask again, she came back, dropped them on the table and walked away (I'm not even sure she paused long enough to say, "here you go" or, "sorry about that"); she asked me if I wanted a refill on my drink and never returned with it--instead brining over the check. This last experience bummed me out to no end. Frankly, Heidi, clean up your act, girl. You're fortunate that the rest of my group liked the food and didn't notice your poor behavior as much as I did. Next time I stop in, I'll wait for a table that you're not serving at, just to avoid you.

I was visiting from out of town and stopped in for a quick breakfast. Service is very good and courteous. My breakfast came out fast and the bacon was cooked perfectly. Very crisp but not burnt. And for you bacon lovers you know how fine the line is. I can tell how it keeps the locals coming back but for the 'out of towners', make time for breakfast at BCD!

BCDC is a great place to have breakfast! I went here with my boyfriend for breakfast on Sunday around 10 am. We were told the wait would be 15 minutes and it took precisely that amount of time to get a table. We were sat by the owner, Perry, in a nice booth with a street view. Perry is awesome and very welcoming. He even stopped by during our meal to see how everything was going. You can tell he makes an effort to welcome guests. Now, onto the good stuff...food and drinks! We got nutella capuccinos which were AMAZING! If you go here, make sure to get them..they are heavenly. Perry told us they actually melt the nutella rather than use syrups for the taste. My boyfriend got the Athena omelette and I got the Athena skillet. Both were amazing and portions are large. O yea, and the bathrooms have funny quotes in them! I would def. come back here again!

First time coming to the Breakfast Club Diner and its one of the best breakfast spots to check out when in oceanside. The waitress Portia is one of the fast servers and friendly ive had in a while two thumbs up to this place. And you must try the country gravy out of this world!!

Great spot. Had breakfast here while on vacation, loved the food and decor. It was a little hot inside that morning. Their waffle had this hint of orange in it, tasty but totally didn't anticipate that and probably would have gone for plain pancakes. The service was great and the price was reasonable too. Definitely coming back

This place is really cute for atmosphere, but the food... Let me put it this way, you come to this restaurant if you're nostalgic for 1980s Bisquick pancakes and Frosted Flakes. There's cute memorabilia, 80s music and it's close to the beach. If you want junk food like mom made from the box, this has that (put together quite nicely!) But when I go out I pay for food, not atmosphere. Not my thing.

Absolutely love this place! Every summer we go to Oceanside and this is our breakfast stop before the Thursday morning market. Portions are HUGE and prices are better. We always get to sit and talk with the owner and ask for a location back home in AZ. Always friendly staff, excellent atmosphere with all of the 80's memorabilia, and i can never get enough of this place! Best place for breakfast in Oceanside of you don't want to wait for over a half hour... quick and easy! #wherethelocalseat

Went here twice in the time we were in the area. This is one of those places that challenges me in choosing how many starts to give. The food was quite yummy; I had a skillet both days and it was delicious, hubby had the omelet both days because he liked it so much, son switched it up but licked the plate clean both times! No problem with 4 stars for food. The challenge comes for the service - the owner was great and came over and chatted for quite some time both visits; we felt welcome and almost as locals. (5 stars)The wait staff was not great the first day, better the second. They weren't rude or anything just not anything to 4-star about. And visit the restrooms while there - you'll have a good laugh!! We will definitely go back when we visit again.

Heard a lot of great things about this place there's always a crazy line out the door. The food was good... Not great but good. We were a bigger party so it may have been hard to keep up with but I felt like they were rushing us out of there. I know we can be a bit loud but we were super isolated so I know that's not it. I feel like if I had the time to enjoy the food maybe I would of thought it was better.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Very dirty, don't respect the owner, found multiple hairs in my food on several different occasions. Hair.. In my food...

Nothing special. Definitely not a 4 out of 5 though... Omelette skillet was interesting, but I wouldn't order it again. 1/5 rating because they overcharged my credit card. Meal for 2 was $22.66 and they added $24.92 tip.... Spent 15 minutes on the phone and they said they would get it fixed electronically within 4 days. Well, that's today, and I haven't received my credit yet. Their early store hours make it inconvenient to call b/c of work.... -- edit -- Raise the score to a 3/5 as the owner Perry was very, very apologetic of the mistake. We are working to get it fixed. Great customer service from the owner.

  • Alex A.

The staff is very friendly, the place is clean and has an 80s atmosphere. We ordered a California Skillet and Bacon Pancakes. Both were good, the skillet had fresh ingredients and good presentation. The bacon pancakes were missing something, I couldn't put my finger on it, but I didn't finish them. A+ for service with the owner coming around checking on everyone and the servers were mostly on point. I dunno if it would be my go to- but I would try again.

This place is so good for so many reasons. FAST, friendly, impeccable service. I swear we were in and out of there in less than a half hour, and it felt like a slow, relaxing breakfast. Server was very helpful, so courteous and quick to fill water and coffee, and probably one of the best we've ever had...normally I don't remember servers that well, but this one really stood out. Both of our meals were delicious, and cheap! I got a HUGE plate of biscuits, gravy, and sausage and it was so tasty. Looking at all of the other pictures here, I know I'll definitely need to go back. Great place, check it out!

  • Joe R.

Went for breakfast on a Thursday. Weekday specials for $6.99. Just OK. Not in the least as good as reviews suggested. Don't think we'd go back. They also wouldn't honorary an Oceanside Welcome Center coupon. Not a big deal but "huh"? Our advice is keep walking.

  • Sunie R.

I would give this 5 stars for the times I have been there before and ate inside the restaurant. It is really a cool spot with usually good food and a nice owner. But we have ordered food to go and it definitely is not a good choice. They forgot 2 orders of eggs and the ones we received were cooked wrong. I asked the girl twice on the phone to please put the cottage cheese in a separate container and of course the cottage cheese is all over the ham and wrong eggs. If you are going to eat here- eat inside, and if you order your food to go make sure you check it before you leave!

  • Xenia L.

Great breakfast for dirt cheap. Portions are *enormous* here--the few times we've been, my boyfriend and I came in starving and barely managed to get through half our order. Most people could probably split a $8-10 dish with someone and not eat again until dinner. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the decor is adorable. The coffee isn't anything to write a Yelp review about, but it's serviceable enough. Things we've tried and liked: skillets, which include hash browns, eggs, and veggies/meats/cheese. French toast, which is outrageously sized and really good. Pancakes, which are tasty and big.

  • Deborah D.

Yummy Good and a great supporter of the community. The food here is fresh and top quality. Portions are huge!! Lines can be long on Sat and Sunday mornings (great sign of a restaurant that is popular). The servers are friendly and treat you like family! the 80's theme is fun and a great way for us older parents to share some history with our kids!! Thank you Perry for always supporting OTCYA! Best French Fries in town!

  • Loren C.

If you are up in Oceanside and want breakfast or lunch this is as good of a place to go as I've found. The 80s theme is very fun and the owner and staff are very friendly. The food is fantastic; some of the best pancakes I've tried in a long time. Their omelets and skillets are fantastic with some of the tastiest hash browns i've tried in years. I can't remember the last time I went to a place and wanted to eat their potatoes. The BCDC Special and the Athenians are great, and they handle special requests with ease. And the price is very reasonable too. Seriously you want a good breakfast in North SD/South OC Counties, go here

  • Arlene M.

Came here for breakfast on our way to Legoland. It's a nice place by the beach! Good food and good service. A great place to go, away from the touristy spots. Very interesting decor reminding me of the 80's (which is really the theme of the restaurant).

my family has different opinionof this place but this review is mine. I ordered the athenian skillet which is basically greek ingredients. I love feta and this was very good. It came with ribbon hashbrowns which were cooked perfectly and crispy. I loved this breakfast place and the owner was very nice and personal. lets just say this is a small world. Now my other family members hasd a different opinion. The nutella pancakes looked good but was told that it tasted like a donut, which means it was way too sweet and kids didnt like it too much. So if i happen to drive by this town for breakie i don't know if they would want to come back but i enjoyed my skillet. Oh and the bathroom had writing on the wall which was entertaining...

The food is really good quality breakfast type dining. Eggs Florentine Five Star Broccoli, Bacon, Cheese Omelette 5 Star Pancakes so light and fluffy 5 Star Biscuits and Gravy another 5 Stars Service was excellent but the wait between our order and our meal was almost .45 minutes. This after waiting about 40 minutes for a table. The table wait can't be helped on a busy Saturday morning but I didn't understand the wait for our meals. Funny enough what took the longest was my plain, dry, toast. That came out after about an hour along with my nephew's side of bacon. He ended up taking my toast and his bacon home for a late afternoon BLT. :) For sure the best breakfast downtown Oceanside. Far better than the Long Board and the staff are much nicer.

CANT BELIEVE THIS PLACE AND THEIR STAFF. The old lady waitress is horrible. I guess she's only nice to selective customers. I found hair in my food. First in my eggs then cooked into my pancake. It was horrifying. I let the lady know and she said "Oh No Bueno" assuming I'm Mexican and I speak Spanish. Took it back and had me waiting forever for a new plate while she texted on her phone and stood there with another employee looking at picture on her phone. She absolutely did not care or apologize. Like really? What the hell???? I was so mad. My mom and nephew finished their food and she brought mine out all boxed up to go because we were on the verges of leaving. I did not eat and gave the food away to a homeless man walking by outside. I lost my appetite. She did not handle the situation well at all!! She then says "I suppose I can take your meal off the receipt". Umm you better because I'm not paying for hairy pancakes and eggs. The chefs need to take care of their personal hygiene or wear a hair net. Grodyyy. Can't see myself ever coming back and I will definitely be warning people. You seriously have to do back flips to get that lady's attention. I was waving my arms around like a mad women trying to get her attention.

Ate here for the first time. Service was good. Food was delicious. My wife and I each had an omelette. It came with some of the best Hash browns I've ever had. It also came with extremely Delicious pancakes. My only concern was that our pancakes came late. We were almost done with the omlettes. It did not spoil the meal, but would have liked everything together. Overall a great meal.

*singing* I said a-la-lalala-lalala-lalalalalalalala...oh hello. Just here to sing the praises of this wonderful diner with an appropos reference to the Simple Minds song so closely associated with the John Hughes movie after which it is named. Good prices, friendly and attentive service, and scrumptous food accurately descibes this homage to the decade of my youth: The 1980's. Nostalgia in the form of movie and band posters from the 80's adorn the walls as well as the retro music piped into this establishment. I ordered the blueberry pancakes after seeing them on a neiggboring table. My wife had the Nutella pancakes and my son a kiddos breakfast. The pancakes were as good as they looked. Our server kept the coffee cups good and full, and we left there to embark on the rest of our California journey satisfied! I'd definitely eat there again.

Went back for round two today - again, it was AMAZING! The portions are huge, the food fresh and the staff were fun, friendly and attentive:) The owner even came around to the table to see how everything was and chatted. Plus we learned that it's only a few minutes walk to the peer, how cool is that?!

Great service and food the first time we came here, but I felt like it was HORRIBLE the next. Wasn't happy with my food at all, and the I thought the waitress couldn't have cared less and getting a hold of her was a hassle. When I let her know the dish was bad she finally offered to bring something else, however waiting for a new dish would have taken way too long. I didn't feel like the Manager did anything to compensate after a whole breakfast dish went 99% untouched because it was so bad. Also, food came out in increments. In my opinion bad food+worse service= displeased.

I had the breakfast pancakes with the strawberrys and whipped cream, plus butter and syrup, talk about a sugar rush. These pancakes were great and I would go back for more, Or I might be daring and try something new. Hoo-whoo. It's a nice 80's decor, hole in the wall and the people were very nice. I'm sorry I didn't try it sooner when I did monthly trips to Oceanside. If I am ever in town will need to stop by there again.

Fun place to have good food, nice size portions & enjoy the 80's music. The owner Perry & the crew make it homey. Have been here numerous times & always good quality food. If you like biscuits & gravy, I highly recommend them both. They have 3-4 daily specials. Check it out.

  • Renee M.

Oh man, I can't wait to come back here so I can pig out on the best pancakes EVER! I went with my girlfriend on a busy Saturday morning and only had to wait a few minutes, probably 60 seconds honestly! I can't even begin to describe how amazing my pancakes were. I could ramble on, but there is no need. Their menu looked beyond delicious, and I will be back many many times. A mimosa would have made it all the more great, but then if they had a liquor license, I might never leave... This is probably a good thing :) All that needs to be said is that this place is the best. THE BEST. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't make it in... You won't regret it!

First walking up to the hostesses in the very beginning I received an attitude. Upon walking in my boyfriend and I were asked what we wanted to drink, I asked if they had an iced mocha the girl said yes. About 7 minutes later we still don't have our drinks, a different waitress, Kimamana (sweet girl, very attentive, pretty much the only good experience with this breakfast spot.) comes over and asks if we wanted anything to drink (2nd time). 5 minutes later the drinks arrive, which are not iced mochas but a very bitter overly creamed iced coffee. She comes over again and we order. My boyfriend orders the chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and scrambled eggs. I order the corned beef hash. We were literally sitting in the booth for a good 35 minutes until the food arrives. Mind you, it's not busy in the restaurant and there is plenty of staff. He doesn't finish his order because it's, "a tiny step up from the chow hall." Which, for anyone who has ever eaten at the chow hall on Camp Pendleton knows that's horrible. Don't order the corned beef hash either. It's not the legitimate corned beef hash (Go to Beach Break Cafe for that epic experience) but the stuff that looks like dog food straight from the can. I'm not picky, I eat it. Get on with my life. We wait for the check. 5-7 minutes go by until the bus boy comes by and we ask him. I get up to use the bathroom. It's wrapped all the way in the back of the restaurant, slightly odd. I walk in and there are holes in the walls, bugs in the corner, I try to flush but it doesn't. Nobody wants to hold down a public flusher but I do that and it works finally. Then there's a paper towel dispenser which isn't being used because the paper towels are sitting on the water soaked counter. I go to wash my hands and the spout knob comes off. All in all, don't waste your time.

The positive reviews of this establishment must all be employees, friend and family there of. I had breakfast here yesterday and it was by far one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. First we waited 25 minutes on their waiting list (while they had open tables) to be seated. The service was ok. we ordered fairly quickly then waited another 35 minutes to recieve our food again slowly(2 plates at a time)which recieved mixed reviews at my table. When they finally brought my biscuit and gravy side to go with my meal I swear the gravy must have been made with sausage that had gone bad sometime last week. I would strongly recommend finding another restaurant, this one's not worth your time or money

Absolutely love this place! My grandma lives in Oceanside, and whenever I go to visit her I have to stop here! Aside from the rad 80's theme, the service is overall great and the food is exactly what I hope for every time I visit. I usually like the Zeus breakfast burrito, everything inside is so fresh and tasty. However this last time I ventured out and tried the Nutella Flapjacks. HOLY GUACAMOLE. So. Flipping. Good. Okay, 1) the pancakes were big and fluffy 2) the Nutella was spread evenly between the two pancakes and there was just enough that it wasn't too sweet 3) I got the fresh strawberries on top and let me just say that BCDC must have read my mind when I was hoping for a mountain of strawberries! So naturally sweet and refreshing! 4) last but definately not least, I was overjoyed that they put an equal amount of whipped cream on there as well to get enough in each bite of strawberry, Nutella heaven!!! If I had to give one criticism, it would be that the wait time is a little much. However, every time I have been here there has always been tons of people and orders up, so it is understandable. To me, for the quality and amount of food you're getting, it is definately worth the wait. This place is hands down the best Sunday morning breakfast/brunch diner I have ever been to. Keep up the good work BCDC!!

I went back in time when I walked into this place. Music was a hit. Lots of cool memorabilia to look at. I ordered the California skillet and comes with 2 flapjacks, I had to share because too much food. My wife ordered the Belgian waffle. Kids meals were plentiful. My hotel stay came with free breakfast but I wanted to experience this place since it had so many excellent reviews. The owner was very friendly. We chatted for a few minutes. Service was excellent. Can't wait to visit again. Happy eating!

First the owner Perry is a great guy. He comes around and always says hi to the family. The country skillet is the best there especially if you mix up the biscuits in it. They have the coolest 80's theme. I will say if you get the older waitress there you should switch sections. She is the only reason I don't give BCDC the 5 stars.

Food was wonderful. Service was horrible. We came in group of 4 and got sat in the back of restaurant where is super hot when there was tables in front with just one person. Waited for the server for 30 min then went up and told her we were ready to order in order to get her take our order. Waited 40 min for the food when restaurant was not even packed.

Just another obscure looking diner from outside BUT step in and it lives up to its name, walls are painted with beach themes and surf boards and old movie posters hanging on the walls, this is one interesting diner. I ordered French toast which was delicious and so was the husband's all american breakfast. The servers are sweet and helpful. The diner is a must eat place.

I was greeted at the door by the waitress and she was very friendly, waiting about 2 min to be seated, not a big deal. Was asked for drinks and I asked for coffee, coffee came rite away, our server gave us our menus and gave us a few minutes to decide what we wanted, I already new what I wanted to order, but my friend needed time to look at the menu. When our server came and asked us what we wanted my friend ordered the special 2+2+2 and I couldn't remember what the special was called which by the way was posted in the front on a large white board that says this weeks specials Monday- Friday. I proceeded to describe what I remember was on the special that I wanted and was expecting the server to remember what was on it, I could be wrong but it looked like those specials were written down for quit some time and she didn't have the nervous approach of a new beginning waitress so I had higher expectations or to the very least should know what the daily specials are. She went to the front and read the specials and came back and forgot what the options were for the order I wanted, a customer noticed that she was struggling and helped he held up the sign for her to read, then was she able to finish my order. Our order came and you could clearly tell that the scrambled eggs were not freshly cracked eggs. They looked like those liquid eggs that come in a bag that you buy in bulk. Which by the way we're over cooked with no effort to make them appear like a proper scrambled egg, instead they were all chopped up in chunks. The hash browns were deffinetly dehydrated hash browns. The only sense of flavor I received was from the ketchup I had to pour all over my food because the food was so dry and with out flavor. Also the waitress didn't take our menu until I put the menu at the edge of the table with the open coffee creamer that myself and my friend had used for our coffee, when she finally took the menus she moved the open coffee creamer back onto our table, why wouldn't you take it and throw it away? I guess she thought because she has a busser that she tips that it might be his job and not hers? Another thing is my friend finished his coffee and she noticed he had finished it when she brought out our food, but instead of asking if he wanted a refill or more she took it away when she asked if he was done with it, my thing is at least be nice and ask first if he would like a refill not just assume he's completely finished with it. Also I noticed that the Tapatio sauce on the table looked like a dark brown color instead of its normal red color. The waitress didn't check up on our table after the food was brought to us, only once and that was to bring us our checks, my bill came to $10.24. She charged me and brought me back $9.25 instead of $9.76, I brought it to her attention and she apologized for her mistake. I will never return, the customer service was awful, the food was below standards, for the price it is not worth it! Will never return

The food is great! Tastes amazing. But the service_____ well it's not all that. On a weekday it's good. Now on a week end it's not the best. Don't go there on a week end. My family & other 3 family memebrs ( 6 total) went for breakfast a Sunday morning. Arrived at 10:45 ended up eating until 11:50 almost 12. Food took forever. We needed more coffee, creamer, water, and such but Everytime we tried to get the waiters attention he seemed to Ignore us. Basically food is good the service is not. Food is 5 stars service is a 3

Don't you forget about me!! Hey, hey, hey, heyyyy!! Still one of my favorite eighties bands. Ohh boy, so now I'm partial to liking this place. Well, 1st off, I can say that they didn't forget about us :), which is always a good thing, and we were served our food within a reasonable time,.........unlike the table next to us, that still didn't have their food when we were finished eating. Sorry, but it's true, We got our gluttony on with the good portions of tasty food they serve, and as such, were........happy........ but, had to lean towards the other direction so the family next to us didn't see our sense of fulfillment.......uhm,....awkward, ..... whatever. ....... Hey, I was selfishly fulfilled. Not making excuses, but it was a busy morning / place was full, which is usually a good sign of course. The interior was a lil crampy but survivable, however the overall mantra had that "oh yeah - we're on the corner of Hill Street" feeling, but that too could've just been the overall coastal gloomy morning that was in tow. The walls had 80's memorabilia on them (aduhr) like they should, and some funny drawings and the matching era tunes that were playing in the back ground turned out to be an uncommonly good selection, more alternative.....took me back....like, "hey, haven't heard that one in awhile". Ultimately, I didn't expect to see Spikolee, Molly Ringwald or Rob Lowe come walking thru the door, but if they did, it would be ok, because yes, you can be like that Rob Lowe. Uhmm, like I'm sooo sure. Verdict: teetering on 3.75 stars Side note: Bring back the Valley Girls. . . .They were hot!

The wife had the eggs florentine need a little more seasoning on the spinach. Coffee was hot and delicious and my tri tip and eggs hit the spot. Pancakes we're made to order one dark and one light but they were tasty.

Nice setting to have some laughs with friends and family over a good breakfast. I recommend the BCDC Skillet, its full of everything you could possibly want in a breakfast meal.

This afternoon I had a very late breakfast with my cousin after a long walk in Oceanside. BCDC has the best pancakes!! Really anything for breakfast you can't go wrong. The next time I'm in town I will surly come back for more! RUJSD Washington State

I just returned from a trip to San Diego. On the way there from LA, a group of us stopped for breakfast at the Breakfast Club Diner based on YELP. None of us were disappointed. I had a delicious light and fluffy waffle with turkey sausage. The food was great and the waiters were very prompt and attentive. I have already bookmarked this restaurant and it will be one of my go to places whenever I make the drive from LA to SD.

I really wanted to like this place, as it's walking distance from my home. So I'll start off saying that the food is good. No greatest-ever-worth-any-wait good, but good. But the service... oh my! My husband, 3-year-old daughter and I went there on President's Day, arrived around 11am and, despite seeing several empty tables, we were told we would need to wait 10-15 minutes because the kitchen was overloaded. It took them 40 minutes (and a lot of insisting on our part) to sit us. If they had told us it would be 40 minutes, we would have given up and crossed the street to eat at the great french place that's there... but they didn't. We ordered our food (nothing major: eggs and pancakes) and noticed that some tables that were there sitting when we arrived (almost an hour before) still had no food. My decaf coffee was cold and took forever to ask the waitress for a warm one, as she would never come to check on us or make eye contact. At some point, my husband went to get his coffee refill at the counter himself. After a while waiting, with no food, I asked a couple sitting at a table by the door and they said it had been over an hour since they ordered and they were considering to leave. But they spoke to the manager and their food eventually arrived. Ours eventually did too (took over half an hour) and it was good. But really, how good would it have to be to make up for the lack of organization and poor service? Really sad because, as I said, I really wanted to like this place. It's cute and fun and they can cook. But they desperately need to hire someone to make this work as a real restaurant.

So this place never disappoints!! This time around Im having the Crunchy Munchy with strawberries and whipped cream and a side of bacon. So delicious!! I can honestly say that everything I have eaten here is great. The portions are big so get ready to enjoy the food coma you will be in after. My waitress Heidi was so sweet extremely attentive! Even the guys in the kitchen would say hello as they were arriving for their shift. The owner Perry and the Manager Jose are a dynamic duo. If you're in the area I definitely recommend to stop in! As your waiting for your food you will not stop staring at the walls and be thrown back into your favorite 80s memories! ENJOY!

I've heard of a 50s diner but never an 80's diner!! This place is awesome and hilarious. I had breakfast and it was good. The food is your standard greasy American diner food and the service was friendly.

I love BCDC. For awhile, while I was joyfully unemployed, I made a trip here twice a week for a late breakfast. The staff is small and personable. The food delicious and warm. The location is awesome. With all that being said, I've never been here on a weekend so I don't know what it's like during those times. But whenever I've passed it on the weekend people are waiting outside. It's a popular place, but if you don't want to wait go sometime during the week, or get their early on the weekend. 4 stars because sometimes their portions on inconsistent. Yes, I've been here enough times to measure and average out the portions. More times than not, I am extremely pleased with my portion. But that just makes the days when they give me a less amount more sucky.

I was there not too long ago, and let me tell you I was HIGHLY disappointed. We got there with plenty of empty tables around and it took em a good 10 minutes to acknowledge our presence. There had been a party of at least 8 sitting in front of us. After an HOUR without getting our food (only ordered omelettes) the party walked out. They never got their food either. Finally an hour and a half later our food comes out, and it was horrible. The hash browns tasted frozen and the omelette had nothing in it. If it wasn't for our adorable waiter who tried his best with the horrible situation, we would've walked out with that party. I really thought this place would be better. But I was clearly, CLEARLY mistaken.

This place is a solid 3.5 stars. Came here with my sister, BIL , nephew and one of my sister's friends. We were in Oceanside visiting for the weekend and this place got great Yelp reviewed so my sister's friend suggested we all try it. It was the first time for each of is. Food 4 stars- The food was a solid 4 stars. It was good. We all liked our food. Nothing out of the park, but good breakfast. My sister's friend and I shared a Skillet and we still were unable to finish it. My sister devoured her Corned beef hash and my BIL devoured his Strawberry Waffles. Service 3.5 stars - Our waitress was super nice and friendly. She refilled drinks often was very cheerful. The only thing is that once the food came she kind of disappeared. My sister's Has came with a side of flapjacks and my sister had rot ask for them because she forgot to bring them over. Atmosphere 3 stars - The walls are kind of fun decked out ion 80's records, but I dunno things were looking a bit old and starting to fee outdated. I liked the high ceilings. The restroom was anti-impressive. Value 4 stars - The portions of the food were massive. It's very generous for what you pay. Over all a good visit. I would return

We were on our way back from San Diego and stopped in on Sunday for breakfast. We had to wait a while, but as soon as we were seated and served we understood why. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous. Perry the owner, or PDAWG, as some call him, was greeting and conversing with everyone who came to the restaurant. Being the owner, Perry made sure all customers were served quickly and enjoyed their meal. Ours was great and priced very reasonable. I would recommend this place to everyone. Plus you can walk to the pier after your meal and enjoy the view.

The decor is the 80s and it's fully of memorabilia. The owner treats regulars and first time visitors like family. The food for breakfast is crazy good. Surfers burrito is easily a two person deal. Fruit is fresh and the bacon is quite special.

Service was okay. The food was alright. Probably wouldn't eat here again just because of those two things. I ordered a root beer and got a Dr. pepper. No butter for my waffle and not enough syrup.

  • T M.

I don't like pancakes. Soggy bland fried dough...we'll now I'm a flap jack convert. BCDC's pancakes are maple syrup shoulders above the usual fair and this is after we enjoyed a hearty Athena skillet and eggs florentine (and hence already tummy satisfied). If you are looking for good ol' country breakfast in the heart of the city, this is your destination. Funky 80s decor and friendly service round out our all together happy mid week breakfast soirée.

Easy laid back dining experience. Total 80's decor, complete with popular movie quotes from that time period stenciled on the bathroom walls. The owner was friendly and very welcoming. I had the breakfast skillet with buttermilk pancakes. Overall the food was good and came out surprisingly fast considering the other reviews on here. However the service was way off. The food runner brought out my meal, and the server never checked on me or ask if I needed a refill. She only bothered to talk to me when dropping off the bill, not cool. My 80's tag line for this place, "Smell you later"

It's a cool little town ad a cool little place. I would return. I gave it 3 stars because it's a normal place nothing to write home about. I had there BC/DC Skillet. The hashbrowns where preformed and stuck together like cardboard. The sausages was the cheap kind.

My boyfriend and I went to San Diego for the weekend to relax. We were hungry and got off on Oceanside and this place caught our eye. Everything was amazing the theme,The food, the service. I had the best waffle I ever had and my boyfriend got a super delicious burger. I am very picky and this place did not disappoint at all.

This is truly is Oceanside's gem! Every time that I've been here, the service is so great and the staff is so nice. Not to mention that the food is always delicious! I always get the endless coffee and they're always more than happy to refill my cup when it's running low. My favorite item here is their omelets, they are to die for! It's a huge portion so don't be scared to take it home for later (which is always the case when I go, but then I get to enjoy it later!) The California omelette has avocados, chicken, broccoli and cheddar; and let me tell you that they are not shy with their avocados like most places which is truly appreciated. My boyfriend had the country fried steak with gravy and a biscuit and that was just as good! The portions are great and definitely are worthy for their price. Love love love this place and for as long as I'm here, I'll be coming back for their breakfasts! Love this place, take everyone you know and the wait is so worth it!!!

Such a great diner! Great service, delicious food, cute 80's theme... what more could you ask for? I got the crunchy munchy french toast with strawberries and whipped cream... a little sweet for some but it was great! (Better than the banana crunch french toast from beach break). Everyone in our group loved their food. We will definitely be back!

I ordered the BCDC "favorite" skillet and was very disappointed. The three meats, ham, bacon and sausage came in the form of a sprinkling of bits, like bacon bits, tiny diced ham and tiny sausage slivers, all atop hash browns, which made up 90% of the meal. It's most likely my own expectations , having enjoyed skillet breakfasts abroad, that I was disappointed - not for the meat lovers . The staff is great and the ambience is great.

Staff is always friendly! Food is great. We come here often and food is always hot and good. Perry makes the best spicy biscuits and gravy. The 80's theme is great !! Restaurant is always full. I would recommend locals and all vacationers come by and have breakfast or lunch!

Great experiences here! If I lived closer, I'd come here more often. I always get the country boy skillet - can't go wrong with that! Even though I normally come here on a weekend, I've never waited more than 30 minutes. Very friendly staff and great food. Hope to come back again soon.

Love this place. Not only is the theme great but the service is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and most importantly the food is great. Very creative dishes to put a spin on the old standards. Go old school or go totally different. Had to stop here twice while in town. Great small business with an owner who walks around to meet everyone.

  • Rebeca R.

One star for the decor and another location. I barely saw my waitress and, even though I don't mind waiting long when its busy, I waited 40 minutes for really bad food. The food was horrible, the juice was warm and sugary, the eggs were runny, the sausages were very undercooked, my hashbrowns were only cooked on the too, and my toast was hard. The only thing that was good was the steak on my husband's plate and even this was small and the only good tasting thing. I ate my eggs because I was starving but felt sick after eating them. I didn't mention anything because I felt sick and waiting another 40 minutes wasn't going to make me feel any better so I paid (more than I thought was appropriate for the food and service I received) to leave as soon as possible. I am never coming back. What a shame, this place sounded great.

This is my go to place for fast food. The prices are affordable and the food is great. I have tried most of the main entrées and have not had any that I didn't like. My favorite is the cashew chicken along with the beef and broccoli. I know, don't say it, "these are both plain simple dishes", but I am a firm believer that you can enjoy simple things just as much as the more complex dishes. The palate wants what the palate wants!

Wow! Super amazing food and service. The resturant is located ten minutes by foot from the beach. Our server Justin was spot on with his service, friendly, and super inviting. I can't say the same for the front door hostesses on shift that day. Please be mindful of your facial expressions and work on your greeting because what I encountered was unwelcoming and uninviting introduction to a superb family resturant. Since first impressions are not always the best I Didn't let that drop my rating. Menu is consistent with the classic American Diner spin with a 80s themed behind the naming of some of the dishes. I enjoyed the decor and music; it kept me occupied trying to recall each name of the movie art paintings and displays depicted throughout the Resturant. Wait time for seating and service took 27 minutes, a bit slow but understandable since it was a full house. I had to try the Zeus Breakfast Burrito since the family introduced their menu with their Greek family roots; menu mentioned Gyro meat but had the texture of a breakfast sausage patty. My Wife had the pancakes which where prepared nicely with a super sized serving of whip cream. I highly recommend their country steak fries with their house ranch sauce! Worth a second visit to try their lunch items and cold Beer.

I have eaten here so many times now I can't count and I have never been disappointed with the food or staff. I like the eggs benedict, Perry makes them with the best hash browns in Southern California.....so delish! This place is fun and inviting. The food is always good and the staff always friendly and accommodating. Perfect for breakfast or lunch any day of the week.

What a wonderful place to eat breakfast. I had the california omelette with egg whites and pancakes. The pancakes were awesome! I had a conversation with the owner and it was very interesting on how yelp operates. If you are in the area this is THE place to eat. Great food, great service and nice warm inviting atmosphere. I'm catching up my on my yelp reviews. Lately I've been coming here about once a week. The owner greeted me a while ago and bragged about his homemade whipped cream for GOOD REASON! Amazing hash browns (they're different) eggs are always cooked right, yummy bennies, and they're pancakes are giving IHOP a run for their money. They also have Kambucha on draft. This place has a cute 80s decor and is an Oceanside treasure.

My family and I recently made a trip to Carlsbad, by the time we arrived it was almost 4pm but we decided to take in the scenery. We passed the Breakfast Club Diner and figured they only open for breakfast. We weren't sure we would ever try it since our room came with free breakfast but after 3 days of the same thing we wanted to try something different. Boy were we glad we did. The prices were reasonable and the portions were huge. OMGosh, it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the 'Country Fried Steak and Eggs,' he loves this dish. When he would order this at other restaurants, he's usually unhappy with it because it's always too salty. At BCD, everything was perfect. The kids loved the decor and we were flooded with memories of our youth. It was amazing. My son was the only one to use the restroom and he said it was very clean. WE DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Outside if a great brunch, this is one of the best breakfasts that you can buy. I had the CA skillet. She had the veggie omelette. We split the Strawberry Waffle. We smashed! The food was awesome. The coffee was awesome. The service was almost awesome. I'll definitely drive past IHOP to eat here again.

Holy cow. Where to start! It was breakfast time so I was totally expecting to wait for a table. No biggie. There were a ton of us waiting outside for our turn. I watched a group of kids who were clearly friends with the hostess walk up and she sat them right away. When we finally go into the restaurant more waiting. It took 10 mins to even get asked if we wanted something to drink. Then another 10 mins for our coffee to arrive lukewarm. Then our waitress finally showed up. Took our order. 30 mins later the food showed up. It was good thank goodness. The chefs are talented if slow. The wait staff needs help. Unbelievable. Water and toast arrived when our meals were almost finished.

Good food and fast service, plus the 80s theme rocks! Had the corned beef hash with eggs, delicious. This place is a step up from a typical breakfast joint, but not quite gourmet. A nice blend of retro with that beachy feel.

Like this place is totally rad okay! Go ahead.. be jealous... I was raised in the 80's! Walking in to this diner for the first time made me feel like I had joined Marty McFly in his journey back to the future. Madonna, Slash and Billy Idol stained glass windows, 80's movie posters and record sleeves, sweet vintage surf boards, bopping 80's beats and and Pegg & Al Bundy gracing us with their presence on the TV. And the meal.. Oh my! So much food... Wait... So much delicious food! Order the stuffed pancakes with strawberries! You won't be disappointed! They do their eggs, bacon and hash browns proper. Not half mushy and half crispy like most places. Come hungry, leave stuffed. Worth every bite! The menu is large and the food really does look like the photos on Yelp!

Love this place. Great décor -- restaurant has a great corner location. Food is good -- typical diner fare. They know how to cook crispy bacon so that is a MAJOR PLUS. The staff and owner are genuinely friendly. Great place to take the kids!! This place is definitely an asset to Oceanside!

Terrific little place on PCH in Oceanside. I had the ham and egg skillet and it was huge. The potatoes were crispy and there were big chunks of green pepper and lots of cheese. I took half home and it was almost as good warmed up. They have GREAT COFFEE, which is the big thing for me. The owner came around to say hello and I was impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Everything I got was steaming hot and there was lots of it. I also got a chuckle out of the writings on the walls in the women's bathroom. I will be back real soon.

SURPRISINGLY GOOD! After calling around at 10:00AM on a Saturday my wife and I finally found this place, with only a 10 minute wait! We were seated quickly as a party of four (my kids were with us) and immediately asked if we wanted drinks. They did forget about us for around 12-15 minutes after that, but they were very busy so I wasn't too awfully disappointed. The kids had mickey mouse pancakes which were huge and only cost around $5.00 each, the kids drinks were free. My wife had the corned beef hash which was delicious and I had the country fried steak which was out of this world! So well seasoned and fried. The weak point in the meal was the potatoes as they were fried crispy but then allowed to get soggy prior to being delivered. So they LOOKED like they had a nice crust on the outside but it turned out to be the consistency of wet cardboard. Potatoes aside though this place was fairly priced and the service was acceptable, the food and the setting were amazing though so I am giving this place 4 stars. Good stuff BCD!

We used to be regulars here before moving to Denver, and believe me, we miss this place! They can do no wrong, everything on the menu is terrific. Plus, how do you not love a place that's decked out in 1980's nostalgia? Michael Jackson and Madonna records/posters, movie posters, and a mural of the beach with flying DeLoreans and Dukes of Hazzard Chargers? It's beyond cool. If you're not a local and only able to come in once, order the Surfer Burrito. It has every kind of meat there is, cheese, and hashbrowns, and comes with a PILE of fresh fruit. Even for coming here probably 40 times, we never had to wait (for 1-2 people) to be seated. Ever! The servers are always friendly, polite, accurate, and prompt. If we ever do move back to North County, I'm having a meal here before I even unpack.

Fantastic service and food. The pancakes are enough for 2 adults to share! We were staying overnight and decided to try it thanks to Yelp! The vibe is 80's fun and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. I would come back anytime. We enjoyed the banana nut pancakes and a more typical egg breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection (I am picky) and the pancakes were fluffy and warm! Try it if in the neighborhood... No wait because the place is LARGE.

They do not skimp on bacon or avocado which is so important! My mom LOVED her California skillet and my brother LOVED his scramble. Everything is delicious and the service is amazing. The owner really makes an effort to know his customers and create a friendly environment. I will always come back to this place.

$7.99 for bacon and eggs?????? hold your horses. Yep, 7.99 and its worth every penny. Bacon. Yep, you get 4 slices, 2 normal slices, 1 country, and 1 double country. 2 normal slices are cooked crisp (no droop when you pick it up by the end) 1 country slice is cooked near crisp (slight droop when picked up) and the double country slice is cooked well (Its hard to cook double country to crisp without burning the meat part of the bacon) I was also asked if i wanted flapjacks but i declined and opted for English muffins. over easy eggs were good (you can only do over easy eggs good or screwed up) hash browns were good, nothing special, but cooked to near perfection the English Muffins were sliced (negative, i like mine pulled) but toasted to near perfection (positive) so say its a push. Coffee was free flowing ($2.99, a minus lol) and from a decent robust roasted beans (plus) so say a push Service was prompt and attentive with a smile and great attitude. Although my server couldn't answer my question regarding the bacon slices (was there 2 or 3 different slice types? I say there were 3 types on my plate) Overall a 3 star place with 5 star bacon! :D so an overall 4 stars. and the place has free WiFi, although i did not get to try it out. The next time I want bacon, I know where to go :)

The moment you enter this restaurant, you will likely be greeted by it's owner. This is one of the reasons this is a wonderful place for breakfast and lunch. It's a family-owned business and they truly care about your dining experience. Located directly across from City Hall in the center of the North Coast Theatre and Arts District, it's just minutes away from the beach and other local attractions. The menu offers a great tasty selection; the service is outstanding and the diner is clean and comfortable. This is the way a diner ought to be!

Absolutely fantastic. We loved it so much, that we came back both days that we were in Carlsbad (20minutes away) just to have a weekday "brunch" at the restaurant. The owner took a lot of time to chat with us personally (he just opened the place 3 months ago), the service was great, and all of us absolutely loved the food and decor (the interior is a cool tribute to the '80's). We got a variety from their menu and it was all good, and provided in large servings at very reasonable rates. We ordered the chicken vegetable omelette, chocolate pancakes, strawberry and blueberry french toast, biscuits and gravy, pecan pancakes, and hot coco -- all awesome. The only mediocre item was the orange juice -- we didn't bother ordering that the second day. I would highly recommend it, and we'll definitely go back the next time we are anywhere near that area. Note that they only serve breakfast, from early am till 3pm!

My partner and I visited here during our vacation on 10/7/12. The decor was very fun! Our server was very nice and helpful. If it wasn't for the lack luster food, it would've been perfect! I got the blueberry waffle that said it had a blueberry compote on top of it. It looked delicious! Unfortunately, I got a floury tasting waffle with obviously defrosted blueberries on the top. I wouldn't constitute this as a compote. I was so disappointed. My partner got the french toast and some scrambled eggs. The french toast was pretty good and I'm not sure how one could mess up scrambled eggs, so they were fine. I don't think we'll ever visit here while on vacation again.

I purchased a " Groupon " type deal for this restaurant. We drove down from Escondido to check it out. We were so happy that we did. This was by far the best breakfast place I have ever eaten. Our waitress told us that the gravy on the chicken fried steak was to die for. She was right. The best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. My boyfriend and I both cleaned our plates. The staff was really, really nice and our food came out quickly. I would highly recommened the Breakfast Club Diner. We can't wait to try out the rest of the menu.

I decided to try this place because we were in the area and it looked pretty cool from the outside. Long story short....YUCK. I don't even know if the eggs were REAL eggs. They looked/tasted/seemed like a bad version of "Egg Beaters" (or some other egg crap from a carton). I have NEVER had eggs that gross (and I once tried diet eggs...and even those were better than these). Not to mention they were greasy and super buttery. Eggs should be fluffy, not rubbery. Also, I asked for my bacon "extra cripsy/done". Instead, I got nasty see-through, barely cooked bacon. I honestly didn't even eat it since it barely looked cooked. The pancakes were *decent*, but too cake-like and basically with every cut, they just broke apart and were a mess. This place seems to be more "show" than anything. Cool/cute gimic, nice food presentation...BUT the food is terrible. If you want REAL, OUTSTANDING breakfast, drive a little further to San Marcos and try Mama Kat's. It blows this place (and every other breakfast place i've tried in San Diego and Los Angeles) out of the water in every which way possible.

i went here for the first time this weekend with my boyfriend. we got breakfast, when first walked in it was nice and the people were friendly. than when we order the waitress didn't give us the time of day. she was rude and never asked how we were doing. right off the bat she got my order wrong. than we asked for a side of something and she never came back with it. finally when she went to another table we asked where our side was and she said we are out. she could of came and told us that. she also never filled our coffee once the whole time we were there. i like all the staff there except for that one older waitress. we will not be coming back there ever again.

DELICIOUS! the surfer breakfast burrito is amazing. It's a very reasonable price for the amount of food they give you! I usually have to take the other half home. I haven't had anything bad there.Only complaint i have is..i wish they were open for dinner!;)

I live in Marina California and we have a breakfast club on the peninsula, oceanside has won this battle! Monterey bay area you have no idea what you are missing out on! If you are in oceanside or just driving by and you don't stop in for some pancakes someone needs to slap some sense into you.

This place is delicious. I had a BCDC burger that was mouthwatering. Big beef patty, great bacon, and a ton of avocado. They also give you A LOT of steak fries. Prices were pretty good too. And I personally enjoyed the 1980's decor. I will be back.

Ate here twice so far while on vacation, sure we'll be back, and can't say enough good things. Perry, the owner, and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Perry makes it a point of getting to know his customers which makes you feel like a regular, which you will soon become. Wide range of tasty dishes to satisfy anyone's desires.

What a great addition to Oceanside! This restaurant serves good portions and good quality. Love the fluffy pancakes. Staff is very nice and the owner is very hands on. See you next time we are in town! A plus...they serve French Vanilla Cream and other flavors with the coffee!

YUM, YUM, YUM!! VALUE too!! Took a friend there with her little ones! She ordered breakfast for each of them but had NO idea there would be SO MUCH food on the plates!! She was pleasantly surprised!! Keep the portion size in mind when ordering or plan on taking some of your order home for later!! Contrary to another Eggs Benedict review my husband and daughter LOVE them at Breakfast Club (and they are VERY particular about their eggs benedict!!)! Our experience is that the service is SUPER!! The staff is VERY, VERY friendly, kind, customer service oriented and accommodating!! If I remembered names worth a darn I would mention them by name -- each server we have had was terriic!! The decor is darling -- it will take you right back to the 80's (unless you are too young to have experienced the 80's)!! If you haven't seen the movie by the same name I would recommend it (especially if you don't 'get' the decor)!! The biscuits and gravy came highly recommended and I agree that they are good! Haven't tried the bacon pancakes yet but how could you go wrong -- two favorites together!! Bottom line -- eat and enjoy the Breakfast Club!!

Wasn't blown out of this world by their breakfast. I just don't get all the good reviews, this place was not worth the long wait for. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I got the corned beef, hash browns, a biscuit and some gravy. Gravy was good. The corned beef hash probably came straight out of a can cause it looked like a fried patty of dog food. We were not impressed. Cool decor though.

This place is great! The 80's vibe is totally fun. Got to hang and chat with Perry, the owner, and catch his love for our community here. We had lunch and really enjoyed it. Will definitely come back with the kids for breakfast soon. Good prices, good food, fun environment for sure!

First time we went the owner, Perry, came out and introduced himself to us and welcomed us. Just a really nice touch when the owner comes out and asks if everything is okay...which it was. Then we started talking Harleys and the conversation over a second cup of coffee was on. We are taking out of town friends in tomorrow for a great breakfast. I will suggest the chicken fried steak and gravey. Really a friendly place with homestyle cooking served by nice servers. Even the buss boys had smiles on their faces and cleared dishes out of your way.The prices are very reasonable also. Try it....you'll like it too....

Great American Breakfast! Cool 80's theme, very clean and new! If you like breakfast like I do you have to try out this location, but be careful, you might find it your new weekend or weekday spot! The service was fast and friendly, it was so great the owner came out and asked us how everything was! The Pancakes were amazing and freshly made along with the fresh sausage patties and hash browns! Definitely I would recommend it and come again.

We have just moved to the area and we were looking for a place to get breakfast on a hungover Saturday morning besides Denny's...which seems to be on every block here. I decided to come here based on the Yelp reviews. We were happily suprised! To start, the OJ is extremely fresh, if not fresh squeezed, it is a higher quality brand. Menu options are pretty good. I ordered the French Toast Combo. French toast was excellent, came with two eggs and choice of meat for 6.99. Four pieces of french toast mind you. A friend ordered the red white and blue french toast, which looked amazing! Very fresh strawberries and blueberries. Very fresh fruit in general on all plates. Husband had steak and eggs and was pleased with his choice. Overall, this place puts out huge portion sizes, fresh, yummy tasty food for a reasonable price. A great choice if your looking for a yummy weekend breakfast!

I've eaten here a handful if times on my way to picking up my son in San Diego. I drive from mission viejo so it's nice when you find someplace decent for breakfast...but today I stopped in and what a ruse awakening!!!thw hostess was incredibly rude and made no sense! Then I for the stink eye from one I'd the waitresses...so I bolted and headed for pier view coffee where they're always nice and hospitable. I settled for a cup of coffee and a scone-the friendly smiles made up for my not so good breakfast!!!

I always enjoy the Good Food, Good People and good Prices. The new location is better and the Owner interacts very well with his customers. If I could eat there everyday I would. Myself, husband, and a couple friends decided to give this place a try after seeing it always crowded. The wait was actually not that long considering, there are always people standing outside waiting. After being seated it took forever for a waitress to actually come to our table and take drink orders. It took even longer for us to get our drinks! After giving us our drinks, she doesn't ask if we were ready to order but, walks away and doesn't return. We had to ask another waitress to go get her. She finally returns to the table takes our order and quickly disappears again. We had all our drink refills done by another girl working there that couldn't seem to find our waitress. About 20-30 mins later our food arrives. I ordered French toast, it was covered in cinnamon! Not only that but it was ridiculously dry! I took a few bites and requested that it was taken back and off my check, I didn't want anything else. This chick brings the check with a slight discount and the explanation being that half of it eaten. WHAT!? Long story short we ended up having to request the manager, him taking my entire meal off the check and offered my friends something for free. I will never return to this place nor do I recommend it to anyone.

Breakfast Club is my absolute favorite restaurant, by far! While sometimes it can be a bit challenging to get the staff's attention (table, coffee, placing your order) because they're busy & it can be a bit noisy at high "traffic" times (maybe add some noise dampening surfaces?), it IS worth every penny spent and the food is AWESOME! Don't think we've EVER had a "bad" time. I always order some version of the breakfast combo (eggs, meat, pancakes etc) and take leftovers home -- I swear it's just as good, if not better, than the original meal. Staff is super nice & Perry (the owner) is incredibly personable. Extremely high level of customer service here!

Had breakfast here this morning with friends on our way back from a great week in San Diego. Got off the freeway in Oceanside and stumbled upon this gem. It was awesome!! The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and the food was incredibly good. I had an Athenian omelet which featured gyro meat, fresh spinach, and sprinkled feta cheese. It was one of the best omelets I've ever had and I'm not a big lover of omelets. Their ribbon cut hasbrowns were a bit of alright as well! They almost tasted buttery to me, felt like I was eating buttered noodles...YUM!!

I liked this place okay. I went with some friends on a Saturday morning after running a 10K race. It is a cute place with 80's memorabilia on the walls. The service was great the the food was delicious. They have a good selection of breakfast items. Their menu is available on their website. I ordered the Zeus Breakfast Burrito. The portion size was generous and it was delicious.

We were in Oceanside to find a home due to job relocation and read about this place. I only had coffee, toast and fruit. My partner had eggs, turkey sausage and hash browns. The fruit was incredibly fresh and appeared to be hand cut. A huge platter of strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple and honeydew. My partner said his breakfast was excellent. The service was exceptional. We will definitely be back after we become residents.

Went here for lunch with 2 friends. Service was a bit slow but friendly. My friends ordered skillets. Both smelled delicious! I ordered a cobb salad. It was large enough to feed 3 people! It had fresh ripe avocado, tomatoes, bacon, eggs. Looking forward to having the rest of my salad for lunch tomorrow! Would definitely recommend for a bite to eat in the heart of downtown O'side! And it's only a 10 minute walk to beach.

If you are visiting Southern CA...don't leave without visiting The Breakfast Club Diner! If you live here and haven't been...WHAT are you waiting for???? We love this place! We have been in So Cal for about 2 years and found this diner by using a coupon. Well, we don't wait for a coupon any more! We look forward to each visit and are never disappointed. We usually get the Breakfast Club Skillet with pancakes. These are the fluffiest pancakes I have ever had! My husband got a side of biscuits and gravy this last time. Now, you need to know that I'm a southern cook and have been making gravy for about 52 years and NEVER...I mean NEVER has my husband talked about my gravy like the did what he had at The Breakfast Club. Naturally, I had to try it and I have to admit, it was wonderful and neither of us usually like restaurant gravy. Perry, the owner, is a great host. Say hey to him! The decor is so cute, very beachy (is that a word?)! Now for the PROBLEM! I can NEVER eat all my food. My mouth really wants to, but my stomach just won't let me. Never fear...it is just as good left over! I get to have it twice! Oh, and I rarely rate anything with a 5 !

This place is amazing, clean, friendly, and the food again is amazing. We have a store a few doors down and my husband is always looking for good places to eat and at the same time recommend to tourists and this is his go to for lunch and breakfast. It's newly opened and already has a great following of regulars and with as many places as we have to eat in Oceanside that speaks volumes about the food and atmosphere. We love it and suggest you give It a try, we're sure you'll become a regular.

We choose The Breakfast Club Diner for our Saturday a.m."cheat" meal. After 5 days of eating nothing but meat and vegetables, the thought of diving into a sumptuous pancake, layered in syrup, and a side of hashed browns and fresh bacon, and even more eggs, is just enough to get us through the diet until Saturday. We've been here multiple times and haven't been disappointed. This is pretty good cred coming from a writing foodie like I am.

Sweet staff, great food, nice location. Breakfast day one: Huge skillet breakfasts with fluffy, fluffy pancakes. Lunch day two: Huge Bacon, Avocado, Cheeseburger, with fluffy, fluffy fried zucchini. Arielle served us both days, quick, upbeat, funny, remembered everything about us, and when we told her we had to leave early the next morning, she said "stop in for coffee to go, my treat".

I don't live in Oceanside but I learned about The Breakfast Club from a professional colleague. Perry and his crew run a great, friendly place with really good food, huge portions, affordable prices and really friendly service. I get together for breakfast frequently with that colleague, and while I enjoy chatting about business with him, breakfast is an equally good draw! The Athenian omelette is excellent. Loaded up with gyros and vegetables. I order double gyros every time and can't believe how small my check is.

Yummy for your tummy. Been several times & food always great. Huge portions great customer service even though they're super busy.Hubby gets skillet plates & eats every bite. Son gets huge smiley face pancakes. I get country fried steak. We don't walk, we roll out when done. First visit I ordered strawberry pancakes with blitz, cheese. You get 2 HUGE plate size thick & perfect pancakes, with this warm sweet cheese mixture between cakes. Its very rich & sinfully yummy. We go every weekend & will continue. Mom-in-law says omelets are very good as well. Owner comes out often to chat. They're great with the little ones. Would give 100 stars if I could. Atmosphere is great, very laid back. LOVE THIS PLACE

Make sure you show up to this place with an appetite. The food was awesome and plentiful. I had the Breakfast Club Omelet and think I could have split it with someone, it was so big. in fact all of their omelets are Brunch only, they are gianormous. Every time I've been there the staff has been very helpful and the manager works the room.

Everyone was right about the service, ambiance, and general welcoming atmosphere at BC*DC (the official name now, I was told by the owner). From initial greeting to the finishing conversation with the proprietor, we felt like locals, even though we were there for the first time, and on vacation. That part definitely deserves the fifth star! In fact, the only reason I'm withholding a half-star (which cannot be marked) is that I really like my omelets 'soft' (never brown) and always specify that when ordering. Mine came pretty dry and brown but I decided not to delay the whole party by sending it back, and I found plenty to fill my tummy from the interior of the concoction, which was tasty and generous, even though dry. Pancakes were amazing - fluffy in a way I'm never able to achieve at home. Wish I knew the trick. I would definitely make this place a regular haunt if I lived in the North SD County area, and I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get that omelet done to my liking!

Huge portions of mediocre food. Reasonable prices for the portion size, however the food was a bit on the bland side. Flapjacks were in need of some sugar, maybe vanilla?? Something to give them more flavor. My eggs were overcooked but still eatable. Definitely will try some place else next time Im in town.

I am here and there with this place. I ordered the breakfast club favorite in a skillet. No onions and no bell peppers. I ordered a over medium egg that goes on top. my partner ordered the california skillet with an over easy egg. We shared the bason waffle. So when they brought us our food, they switched up our eggs. I can't doe over easy and she can't do over medium. The waitress was very kind and took our skillets back. She brought them back out a few minutes later and the eggs were cook right. I was a little disappointed that they did not remake the entire thing. I could see where they scraped off the old egg. The dish was not the greatest. The hashbrowns on the bottem were soaked in grease. And not like a little, like a lot. I could have spooned out 2 tablespoons of oil from my little bowl. The flavor was there but I didn't eat much of it cause on the oil. Also because of the mass amount of oil the hashbrowns were not at all crisp. I would have been better crispy. The bacon waffle was very good. One of the best waffles that I have had. It was light but has crispy egdes and a sof center. YUM... The batter had bacon chunks in it and also was served with crispy bacon on top. Man I would order this again. I would come back to this place next time I am in the area, but I wouls ask for my hashbrowns to be crispy. I did leave full, but that was mostly the waffle.

This is a great breakfast place. Very much 80's themed - which is the greatest decade by far. Tons of memorabilia around. The food was terrific - great price and plenty of it. I had one of their skillets - with hash browns, eggs and chicken fried steak - all were prepared terrific. Good strong coffee too. The owner Perry stopped by our table and chatted with us through the meal - very personable and a lot of fun. We will definitely be back.

Dined there on 9/12/10. Simply the best breakfast I've ever had. I thought about my meal all the way home (and my home is in Sacramento--so that was a long drive from Oceanside). There was a group of us and we all ordered different things. The food was hot, unique, with that homecook taste, and best of all the staff was amazing. The place is pretty new, so it is still easy to get a seat, but I'm sure that won't last long. Going back to Oceanside in November and I will make sure that the Breakfast Club Diner is on my list of places to dine.

Preferring brunch over any other meal and having ventured to the many little brunch places and diners around North County, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on these sort of establishments. Breakfast Club Diner has something that other restaurants of it's sort lack- it has a quirky little niche. The name is a pop culture reference to the popular 80's movie The Breakfast Club and the decor supports the eighties/seventies them. There is a mural on one of the walls that has classic figures: Jaws, Michael Jackson, Back to the Future, etc. It was interesting looking at all the decoration while waiting for the food to arrive. While the place has an interesting vibe, the food was mediocre... I ordered a Zeus's burrito... which is like a Greek/Mexican burrito. A terrible combination now that I'm reflecting upon my food choice. I took a few bites of it and then stopped. Although a breakfast burrito, there had TOO much egg. I would have rather gotten an omelette in this case. My boyfriend ordered the a Philly cheese steak sandwich. In the past, him ordering this dish would usually have me second guessing my meal choice which it's succulent beef and perfectly melting cheese... However, the sandwich lacked appeal. Our waiter was was friendly and provided good service; we're not very demanding costumers. Summary: The atmosphere was enjoyable, out waiter was sufficient, but the food could have been a lot better.

I love the 80's and I really liked this place. I am in San Diego a lot and I love coming here. I enjoy the atmosphere as much as the food. Its like going back in time. They have a good menu and the food is definitely tasty!

Loved our breakfast here!! We both had omelets which were huge!! Great coffee which is obvi super important. :) If there was one downside....the wait. But let's be real, if there is a wait and people are willing to stand around and wait that means the food is worth It! It is..seriously...just get up and go now :)

AMAZING FOOD - The Breakfast Club Diner is one of my favorite places to dine for breakfast. The owner is always in-house and very welcoming. The breakfast burrito is to die for and the portion of fresh fruit that accompanies the dish is massive. They're known for their delicious pancakes, but their scrambles are amazing too. Anything you order here you'll be stoked on.

First impressions count for a lot... And I was thoroughly impressed with The Breakfast Club. It helped that *yelp gave this place 4 stars and that it was real close by to our original stop, Colimas (was closed...) When we walked in we were immediately greeted with a bubbly smile and we were seated right away! The kids (and I mean this in the nicest way!!!) that work here (only cause they were younger than most patrons there, myself included) were super nice and smiley and they kept conversations well with most of the diners there. The decor is, like, totally rad and awesome and, like, SO 80's!!! It was like walking into my bedroom in grade school... Posters, vinyl records, Converse shoes... The food was just as rad. We didn't have to wait long for our breakfast, which included: Hubby: New York Steak and Eggwhites, with pancakes and a cranberry juice. Me: Tomato, Basil, and Feta omelet with pancakes and coffee. My girl: Banana Nut Pancakes with sausage and hot cocoa. My boy: French Toast and sausage with a hot cocoa. The servings are pretty generous and nicely plated. My minus one star was because they serve your plate with a garnish of sliced oranges and sliced strawberries. I don't mind the oranges, but I'm allergic to strawberries... I'm sure I could've asked or maybe browsed thru more *yelp pics to see the plating to know, but whatever. I quickly dumped my garnish onto my son's plate and all was good! We were checked on by at least 3 different wait staff, which was cool. I enjoyed hearing the conversations between the staff and the locals... Very friendly atmosphere!!! Our total came to just under $50. Not bad for a great breakfast for a family of four... Our next venture out here I would definitely love to try Breakfast Club again!!!

My wife and I made a pit stop here on our way home from spending the weekend at Harrah's casino. It was a Sunday morning around 10 when we checked in with the hostess and waited about 10 min until they had a seat for us. We ordered our food which took about 25minutes until we received, understandable as it was busy. I ordered the bacon and eggs which came with delicious hash browns and amazing pancakes, eggs were scrambled and cooked perfect but the bacon is why it only received 3 stars :-( . Bacon was hard and not fresh.

Overall satisfied. Yummy food, huge portions. Nothing like blow-your-mind amazing, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the food both times, the country fried steak and eggs and the Athenian Omelette. Their country gravy has a cajun-type taste to it, which my wife wasn't too keen on, but I LOVED it! My wife loved their hotcakes! And they have big fat french toast which my mom-in-law enjoyed a lot. Waitstaff is generally pretty good. I seem to always wait a while for a refill on coffee, but otherwise they're solid. They're usually somewhat busy, so that probably explains waiting for refills. Both times we've been, there has been no wait to be seated, but the place is pretty full. For me, a busy restaurant is good because that keeps the food turning over and fresh, plus even a cool-a#* place like this would be kind of boring if no one was there. Last time we went, one of the managers (I think) was playing 80s song trivia with one of the tables. What?! How fun is that?!

This place is really rad, not only is the decor great the food is amazing! The owner Perry, is a really great guy. He makes contact with his customers and makes sure everyone is taken care of. You rarely ever see this in business owners. They have a wide variety of foods for both breakfast and lunch, and let me tell you the portions are huge!!!

definitely come before 9:30 to beat the church crowd on Sunday. our wait for 15 people (ah know, huge party) was 45 minutes...kind of crazy. pretty good quality for diner food i would definitely suggest trying a skillet. the french toast and tri-tip are a close second.

Great breakfast in a fun setting. The owner, Perry, and staff were very friendly & attentive. Their 80's theme was fun & the graphics done by the owner were awesome!!! I loved hearing of the owner's respect & care of the military personnel that eat there - worth leaning about & supporting this business for - regularly! We will definitely come back- even if just passing through the area!

A great breakfast experience for the entire family thanks to Yelp's great rating. Located in the downtown Oceanside area, we came on a weekday morning before 8:30 AM, parking on the street (free for 2 hours). The restaurant is an '80s fan mecca with countless movie posters, murals, and memoribilia depicting an awesome decade. The other thing you'll notice when you walk in besides the theme is how clean and orderly BC/DC is. The true charm are the motivational and quirky writings left in the bathroom. You can spend an hour reading and laughing what is written in there. My favorite was something along the line of "Kids create accidents in the car. Accidents in the cars make kids." The service here is extraordinarily superb. Portia, our server was outstanding. She was very cordial, attentive, and hard-working. At the end of our meal, she was kind enough to ask us if we wanted some coffee to take on the road (in a to-go cup). My wife and I both ordered skillets. I ordered the country fried steak version (that came with biscuits and gravy) and my wife ordered an American skillet with ham, sausage, and bacon mixed with eggs (cooked your way) on top of fried potatoes (that came with a choice of toast or pancakes). Both skillets were very delicious. I couldn't wait to finish mine. The gravy was very thick and a bit spicy, which is a nice twist. Prices for the breakfast dishes won't set you back more than $10. Very reasonable and worth every penny. We will definitely try to stop by again on our way down to San Diego.

I've tried this place more then once and I have tried to find something good to tell you. I know this is the toughest business to succeed in and am aware that since I've been in the business myself, it can be hit and miss at times. I like the owner and some of the staff, but the food and service is unreliable. It is hard for me to have to wait 25 minutes after putting in my order for sausage and eggs with well done potatoes to take that long on a Tuesday morning. The waitress put the order in correctly, but the kitchen didn't. My problem with this is that she still brought the order to my table and never came back to see if all was ok. I love trying to support local businesses but this is one that I won't again. Hope you have better luck...but there are far better places for breakfast. After further review..sound like a NFL ref...I'm going to give the Breakfast Club Diner another shot. The owner reached out to me and assured me that my next experience will be a lot better. I appreciate that he actually responded to my review and that made a difference in my rating change. Not many owners would have taken the time to try and change my experience. Thanks Perry

Really a great place. I gave this place 4 stars because 1) Its location: being in downtown Oceanside is great because its the only fun place to hang out by base, and if you're like me who has some relation to a marine (my boyfriend) you know the only thing to do is go eat some good food and go to the beach. I also recommend this place because it has a very beachy, unique interior which gives it a pleasant experience and something to look at when waiting for food. I went there for lunch and ordered the French Dip (a personal favorite dish) and i was content, it wasn't THEE BEST I've ever had, but I left satisfied and willing to go back to try the breakfast options next time!

I just opened a business down the street and went in there for some brunch last Saturday. The atmosphere is definitely 5 stars and I met the owner who is totally awesome. I got my food to go, and let me tell you, that is one serious tuna melt. SO delicious!! I'll definitely be hitting this place up weekly now!

I ordered an omelette with hashbrowns and pancakes. The omelette and hashbrowns were good but I was really impressed with the pancakes! I didn't know pancakes could taste that good! Service was friendly. I'd definetly come back. I told a friend about this spot and he said they use a lot of organic ingredients which is good to know!

The food is amazing and the waitresses are super attractive, I'd marry almost any of them (kidding!). Complaining about them taking 10 of your precious minutes to flirt with me? Get over yourself! Players gonna play, and true players will be eating breakfast at BCDC. Joking aside, the food is actually really good, I question anyone who says otherwise. The hashbrowns (which come with a lot of the breakfasts) are like ribbon cut and cooked just slightly brown and mostly soft, like actual potatoes. It's a nice change from typical grated hasbrowns fried to a crisp that you get at other restaurants. If you eat meat, get the tri tip and eggs. I got that like 10 times in a row and it never disappointed. But then I stopped eating red meat so I get the skillets now and still I'm impressed every time. Maybe I'm easy to please but for what you get vs the price, you can't go wrong. The pancakes: yes, they're that good. I can never finish everything and I always leave with enough for another meal later in the day.

Found this place thanks to yelp!... Staff was very friendly, and service was prompt... Had the Hawaiin pancake combo... Pancake was good, nothin spectacular, pineapple pieces were scarce, same with the coconut flakes... I should've gone with the Nutella P-cakes, which I'll be back for.

This is one of those unassuming places that's easy to miss, but gold when you find it. We were weekend out-of-towners looking for breakfast/brunch in a non-chain restaurant. Mi esposo found this place (and a few others) online; this won out initially because it was open an hour longer than other similar establishments. Given the on-a-busy-street location, parking can be a bit dicey at times, *but don't let that deter you.* Circle the block again if you have to - this place is *worth it.* We came back again the next day - it was that good. I won't zero in on what we ordered (although it was outstanding) because everything we saw being delivered to other tables looked every bit as good as what we got. (And we had to leave town without trying at least 20 other things on the menu - *sniff* - =( .....) Perry, the owner, is one of those guys you like right away when you meet him and would love to have as a neighbor. This is not just a side hobby for him; he obviously cares about every aspect of his business. He has trained his staff well and it shows - they also reflect his kind enthusiasm. Don't miss this place for breakfast if you find yourself in Oceanside. =)

My 2 friends and I were on our way to San Diego when we decided that we just had to put food in our bellies before we scratched each others' eyes out. Feeling adventurous, we got off the freeway and continued down the street and ended up at the Breakfast Club Diner without Yelping it first. ::Gasp!!:: As far as the food is concerned: the portions were HUGE. The pancakes were the size of dinner plates. I wouldn't recommend the eggs or the sausage. They tasted quite funny. The only problem and the reason why they didn't get a higher rating was because although it was cool outside of the restaurant, it was hot and humid inside. I'm not sure how that happens. Worse than that though, the service was extremely slow. It's as if the waitresses were walking zombies. I sat there needing a re-fill on my coffee for a good 10-15 minutes. I finally flagged somebody down. We also didn't have spoons to stir our coffee, or creamer or straws. If you needed anything you had to wait until somebody finally walked by and flag them down only to have to wait forever to get what you needed. Even getting the check took a good 10 minutes. Overall, it was just average. A very, very, very slow average.

This morning we had breakfast at the Breakfast Club Diner, AGAIN! Having frequented this establishment many times, I now feel it is time to share my thoughts. As always the food and service were great. The atmosphere is wonderful and the people are very friendly. I want to single out Perry, the owner. He is very VISIBLE!! He circulates around the restaurant and speaks to the customers. He is friendly and can easily strike up a conversation. Once you talk with him you realize that he really does understand that the customer is the key to his success. We want everyone to know that this is a super good place to go.

The best breakfast in downtown Oceanside! Perfect pancakes. Wonderful waffles. Excellent eggs. Bodacious bacon. Lunch is delicious, too! The owner, Perry, is a great guy. Friendly and very proud of being part of the Oceanside community. When I'm in Oceanside, I'm probably having breakfast here. Enjoy.

My husband & I have been going here for a few months and we are never disappointed. The staff is always friendly & helpful; the owner is a joy to chat with. Though the menu is mainly focused on breakfast, they do have some tasty lunch-type choices as well (and, of course, anytime is a good time for breakfast food!). The portions are perfect for the price & the food is always fresh. Bonus: the 1980s murals, TV shows, & music! :)

This is by far the best breakfast diner that I have been to EVER! They have great service and the food came out quickly. As my wife says it best it was "bomb.com". I recommend going to this place if you are in the Oceanside area or if you are driving through oceanside. Once again great diner!

After coming across this and reading all the high reviews on Yelp, my husband and I decided to check out the place this morning. I'm soo happy that we did... Great Food & Friendly Staff!!! I think this place is now my favorite go to breakfast spot. The place was not extremely busy, but had a steady flow. We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly smiling server. I'm not a big pancake/flapjack person but I did go along with everyone's suggestions & reviews. I ordered the Banana Nut Flapjacks and that alone deserves FIVE Stars!!! The platter is HUGE. Bananas mixed into the batter and topped with more bananas, walnuts, powder sugar & whip cream plus the butter & maple syrup on the side. The platter even came with fresh strawberries & oranges. My husband ordered the steak and eggs which he too enjoyed. He had ordered his steak medium-well and it came out more medium. One of the servers had noticed the steak and had offered herself to bring the steak back to the grill. Again that was her own doing without us asking or pointing it out. When she came back out the steak was done perfectly to my husband's liking. The staff there is all smiles and very friendly. There's a more "personal" feel there. For sure my husband and I will be going back there again.

The waitress/hostess was pleasant but did not smile until I left, and never did offer to refill my OJ. The scrambled eggs were somewhat runny and the hash browns had no seasoning. The salt and pepper shakers did not appear to have been cleaned in quite some time. I was definitely not impressed with this place and will not return.

Confession: I don't really like going to breakfast and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to breakfast joints. This is the only place I have ever walked out of saying "That was amazing." The Breakfast Club Diner has huge portions of delicious food for super affordable prices. It was also some of the best service I've ever experienced. Our waitress was so accommodating and was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. The owner came over and asked how we liked our food and chatted with us for a bit too! The buttermilk pancakes were so fluffy and heavenly it was like eating cupcakes. The omelettes were loaded with feta cheese and veggies, the hash browns were perfectly crisp, and we had gorgeous perfectly ripe pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, and strawberries. The best part of the entire meal for me was the biscuits. I am going to have dreams about those buttery biscuits smothered in a thick peppery gravy.

Great atmosphere! The food was delicious and came in generous portions. When we went, the place was super crowded but the staff was still very friendly and approachable. It IS a little small and gets incredibly crowded so I'm guessing you should get there a little early or be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes. We just sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait. Not really a good place for big groups over 4, I think. The only thing missing were mimosas!! I saw a beer tap but I guess it's not working yet. Can't wait. lol I would come back! We wandered in here on Sunday, starving, and came out full, satisifed and super excited we found a new breakfast spot!

Food was great, service was 1st class. I ordered the chicken friend steak and eggs it was one of the best ones I have ever had. The 80's decorations everywhere were supper cool. All in all, a great place to grab a good old fashioned meal.

  • Jen E.

This place is like totally awesome! And not just for the 80's decor (a Billy Idol stained glass window, I mean, can it be cooler?), but for the super yummy (and large portioned breakfast) and friendly staff. The hash browns were the star, but it all was really good. And the best part, you get to choose toast OR a pancake. It's a total breakfast winner.

  • Lynn N.

2 eggs bacon and hash browns. The eggs were no right, waitress takes it back, I east my English muffin before it comes back. When it comes back the bacon is cold and the hash browns are warm. The waitress leaves then comes back with a plate for the bacon. I finish the hash brown and eggs before the bacon makes it back.... Nothing like eating your food in steps. If you can't get that right then for get about it!!

I don't enjoy "hokey" themes and if it had dawned on me that the Breakfast Club Diner was named after the film, I never would have gone. I didn't care for that angst filled film, which is probably why I didn't make the connection, and I found this restaurant in some ways also uncomfortable. Although I had a hard time getting past the silly decor, the staff helped make up for it - they were all very friendly and hospitable. The food was good and if you enjoy 80's themed restaurants, it is a solid 4 stars.

Had their coconut French toast which was really good. Be warned the portion sizes are big. I ordered what I thought was a single side of sausage which turned out to be three. Everything was prepared correctly.

I visited this diner earlier this year and was amazed by the food. Mega portions, great pricing, and the owner gave the experience a personal touch. He visited with us, gave us some insight on the city, and even introduced us to his family. Highly, higly recommned this diner when visiting Oceanside. This is the kind of food and family environment for all families and ages. Very personable with customers. Hope to visit soon when my twin son's are at MCRD/camp pendleton. And he is very involved with veterans too!

We have been in Oceanside for close to a week and have eaten breakfast at different places here. Breakfast Club Diner was the best. The food was fantastic! The servers were very attentive. We never had to ask for refills. They were there before we asked. I got bacon and eggs and for the first time I got enough bacon. It came with hash browns and toast. My husband had the corned beef hash that came with potatoes, eggs and pancakes. We were both totally full when we came out.

After living in Oceanside over 16 years, I usually went elsewhere to eat but came with my daughter and family and was very happy with the whole experience at this diner. Perry, the owner, came out to check out how all the diners were doing and we were happy to tell him how pleased we were with our food, the atmosphere, and that he chose this spot right across from the library and city hall to open a restaurant.

I love this place because the wait is never bad. The place is cute...80's theme! The food is pretty good. I love their Nutella pancakes. However, the service is really lacking. The waitresses they have now are just not very attentive. Whenever we go we constantly have to flag the girls down to get refills on our coffee or napkins etc. The owner is usually there but the waitresses still suck. The food is always great but the service is disappointing. Hope to see some changes soon. I always get the same 2 waitresses so I think they are short staffed. Having napkins on the table and carafes would be good.

This place is great! The decor is fun and retro...all very fun to look at. I had the "country boy skillet" = eggs on top of hash browns, country-fried steak and gravy. Definitely not the healthiest thing I've eaten but damn it was good! It also included a biscuit and gravy. The biscuits tasted very fresh and were nice and soft.. the gravy was perfect... don't really know how else to describe it. All of this for only $7.99... killer deal! It's rare I won't finish a meal, but this was just so much food, I couldn't quite do it. There are so many great things on the menu... can't wait to come back and try some more!

I kept reading the reviews of The Breakfast Club Diner which sounded exciting. Susan and my favorite meal out is breakfast in the North County. You know Beach Grass, Swami's, all of the ones in Old Encinitas and along the PCH from Del Mar to Carlsbad. Well, if you haven't been to The Breakfast Club Diner in Oceanside, you may have missed the best of all. I bought one of those buy a $7 coupons for $14 toward the purchase of food. Now, we live in Solana Beach, so it is a way to Oceanside for breakfast. Little did we really know what to expect. The owner, Perry, greeted us when we came in and his restaurant was moderately busy. He seemed to spend time with all of his customers. Our waiter, Ryan, was excellent. First, my wife noticed immediately that the prices seem to be more reasonable than their competitors. I agreed. We ordered with valuable input from Ryan and the decisions were great. I had the Athenian Omelet and Susan had the Buttermilk Pancakes with bacon and eggs. Susan than expressed that these were the best Buttermilk Pancakes she had in years. My omelet was excellent. The "sliced" hash browns were very special. You rarely see sliced hash browns like these. The portions are large and they will fix it the way you want it. Personally, we loved the Diner feeling of the restaurant, despite a previous reviewer's 1 star because he didn't like the mix of the décor. I thought that he might have tried some effort to review the food and service. But, it is not only the quality of the food that we were served, but the attention to detail. Some examples of going beyond the norm were would you get a choice of a bowl full of cups of dairy products to add to your coffee. Personally, I chose the Hazelnut flavored to add to my coffee. Then, there is the small matter of this place offering Smucker's Blackberry Jam at your table. I asked Perry about this. He explained the reason you rarely see that flavor in other restaurants is the cost. It seems that it is twice as expensive as the other Smucker's Jams. But, the rest of the answer was when his father said that if you really like something, your customers will want the same things. Perry mentioned that all of his vegetables were delivered fresh 3 days a week. He was obviously proud of serving quality, fresh food. Attention to detail. When we were leaving, we passed a woman having the French Toast. Susan asked her about her French Toast, she stated that it was awesome. I can tell you that I don't even like French Toast and it looked great to me.

I enjoy coming here whenever I come up to Oceanside. They have great service and the food is good. I will recommend the 2+2+2 which is two pancakes, eggs, and bacon. It is really good, and it comes out to about $6.99.

Best Breakfast around! Love coming here, service is always excellent, food is always delicious and I always love the theme of the diner. It does take a while to get your food sometimes, but it is always worth the wait. The price is also great for the amount of food you get. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Breakfast Club

Ok so walking in I did not expect to giv them 5 stars. However I sat down and saw warning signs about their bacon. Laughing to myself about it being a marketing ploy I ordered some of their bacon. Move aside Bacon truck, and all others that claim to know bacon, the breakfast club has the best i have ever tasted. My husband also had a side of pancakes. So light and fluffy, they were better than most I have ever had. With funky decor, and good food, this has become one of my favorite breakfast places, ever.

Had my second visit to The Breakfast Club today. I ride my Harley down from Orange County for an early morning breakfast. This place is great. I love coming here for breakfast. Come one, they offer a side of toast or pancakes with many breakfast entrees! How can you say no to pancakes. I usually order a skillet and get the pancakes. Best of both worlds, savory and sweet! Yummy! Their pancakes are tasty, fluffy and not super dense gut busters. I've had the stuffed pancakes too! Wowzers, it's a diabetic nightmare which usually means that it's delicious and horrible for you. Ok I admit, I've also has the chicken fried steak. Boy is that great too. The only thing I have to say is the service is good 85% of the time. The annoying thing is the owner always comes around to talk to you. Usually cool, but he never remembers you and always asks where you are from. That gets old after the 12th time! Plus, we have went two days in a row and he doesn't remember and does the same drill. Just leave us alone, we are all good.

Good food, decent price. Love the 80's decor, especially the old skateboards! I mostly come here when I am hungover and would choose it over the other breakfast joints in Oside.

Went around 11:30am on a Monday and I ordered off the lunch menu while the wife ordered off the breakfast menu. I had the Philly steak sandwich, with onion rings and coleslaw sides. The sandwich was DELICIOUS, although a bit on the skimpy size when it came to the meat aspect. Although the waitress recommended an up-sell to the onion rings, from fries, because 'they are great' - I did not care for them too much. They were well over cooked. Never really had quasi-burnt rings before. The coleslaw was okay, but nothing special; not much flavor to it. The wife had a grilled chicken omelet, with hash brown and fruit garnish. She LOVED her omelet and had no complaints about her hash browns (I should have stuck with the fries). As for the fruit garnish - it included sliced strawberries and oranges, both of which she liked very much. Unlike a certain previous reviewer who gave this place a poor review because she was allergic to strawberries (WTH? That's all you could comment on and nothing about the food?) as if the waitress knew this beforehand. To be honest I would give this place, based upon this experience regarding the food, a 3 star - but he wife gave it a 5 star; so I compromised with a 4. My 3 would not preclude me from coming back however, and we plan on doing so as a place to meet up with others. Maybe it was because the owner was slaving in the kitchen, per our server. He had to fill in and maybe he was grumpy, been out of the loop too long, or may not have ever actually been a chef / cook before. Oh, and BTW - our server was FANTASTIC!!! I which I could remember her name! Very attentive, but not overbearing.

We were down in the San Diego area for a long weekend and Hubby found this place based on Yelp reviews. We've come here three days in a row and after getting full from the corned beef hash, I declared, "They need to rename this place Food Coma Diner California.". I love me a good Eggs Benedict and I have found my Mecca. I'm not even exaggerating, y'all -- BCDC has the most amazing Eggs Benedict I've ever tried! Their fruit pancakes are massive plates of flapjack and fresh fruits; their hash is made from fresh corned beef; their hashed potatoes are fluffy and crazy tasty; their omelets are sinfully tasty and they don't skimp on the fresh ingredients! Just try it, you'll love it!! Can't write a review and not mention their decor -- totally 80s, baby!! There are Billy Idol and 80s Madonna stained glass windows at the front door! Inside is an eclectic mix of 80s and surfing murals (trust me, it works), with lots of 80s music and movie memorabilia. Seriously, if you're anywhere in the area, you must come, you will not be disappointed. Be sure to say hi to the owner, Perry (if he doesn't say hi to you first)!!

Working at my areas own best breakfast place, I'd have to say this place is pretty darn good. I got the eggs florentine that came with hash browns, and I think that was my favorite part of the plate. Cut like ribbons grilled to perfection with a spice incorporated in them. Yum! Our server was nice, but didn't come back once to check on us. Otherwise, good experience, good atmosphere, and good food. I'd definitely come back again.

So I went here with my girlfriend the other day (actually, the day I got back from winter break) as she suggested this was a proper place to eat and it surely was. The decoration is pretty cool. Very 80s and kind of 70s from time to time. There's a lot of music references and cool movie posters all around. Staff is friendly though I am shy so I don't talk a lot to waiters or waitresses the first time I meet them. Restrooms are proper and have cool layouts. Overall, a nice diner atmosphere. I only had the french toast, which I forgot exactly what it was called but it was properly priced for the amount of food I got. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't substitute bacon and sausage for something else, which was a bit of a bummer. It worked out well since I got the biggest portion of french toast that they offered and it was tasty. Not much to complain, the menu has a really retro layout and tons of 80s references like Back To The Future and the Rubik's cube.

This place was just ok. We both ordered bacon pancakes with sausage and scrambled eggs. My husband ordered his eggs with cheese and they just added some Kraft (maybe) sliced cheese right out of the plastic wrapper on top that was hardly melted....umm ok? The bacon in our pancakes was really greasy, like they didn't pat it off after they cooked it. So it made the bottom of our pancakes kinda gross. The sausage was EXTREMELY greasy and rubbery, could tell they made it ahead of time and it had been sitting and they just reheated it for out order I get this place is supposed to be a down to earth, local's morning hangout but I found little black hairs on my plate, on our table and in our to go box. I won't be going back

Love, love, love. I come back to this place every time, I'm in Oceanside! This time I had the chance of meeting the owner, very nice, very proud owner. As he should be! I highly recommend adding a side of the best bacon, I have ever eaten to your meal! They were so nice they even let me park my bicycle inside!! Which is always nice. Thanks for another great meal!

Some friends from out of state were in town and I needed a good breakfast place. This was it! Awesome food, great atmosphere, wonderful service. Everyone at the table (there were six of us) ordered something completely different and everyone was super happy. I'll definitely be a return customer!

Having been born and raised in Oceanside I'm always down to support a local business, so when I saw Breakfast Club Diner's ultra cool glass work from the outside I knew I had to go in. The hubby and I stopped in for a Friday morning brunch last week and noticed right away how cool the inside looked with all the retro 80's get up. But that is where the 2 stars come in unfortunately. Not greeted as we came in, kinda just stood around wondering do we seat ourselves? By the time a waitress did notice we still had to stand and wait some more for a table to get cleaned off. Once finally seated the waitress gave us our menus and walked away (um ok , I guess I didn't look thirsty enough). Once she came back I asked for a glass orange juice and she snaps and says no FREE refills for the OJ. I said that's fine bring me orange juice and also a glass of water. My husband ordered a basic breakfast , eggs potatoes, turkey sausage and toast. I decided to try the bacon waffle. Food was just gross!!! 1st off I get my bacon waffle before my husbands food. So not to be rude I wait until his food comes out. TICK TICK TICK TICK ...um no food yet . My husband says," It's ok start eating before it gets cold". I take a few a bites and it was nasty ! As if they don't clean the waffle maker each time. It was just nasty greasy. Finally my husbands food arrives (with no toast). Eggs where powdered eggs ......really come on! It's not that hard to crack and open and egg people! Potatoes were cold, sausage greasy..you know the kind that taste like they had been laying around in grease under a hot light. And again no toast, even after I had to flag down the waitress twice to ask where was my husbands toast was. When the waitress finally dropped off our check she asked was there anything else she could get us.... I said yes for the 3rd time my husbands toast. By now she finally snapped out of whatever mood she was in and apologized and brought out his toast (since this was the only decent ans hot tasting part of the meal) . Once he finished we paid our bill (NO TIP) and left , extremely disappointed. Bottom line cool decor , but gross food. NO second visit for me. Another Oceanside restaurant that has let me down, and coming from a local this hurts the heart.

I love the breakfast club. Good food for a fair price! Perry, the owner is often on site looking after the place. Really great wait staff. Fun to go for breakfast on Thursdays after doing your shopping at the farmers market.

Excellent food, clean, nice inside well designed. The staff is awesome, the server went outside and got me a newspaper, now thats service. The omlet was awesome salsa home made. I am from New York, I know good food. This is awesome, my new place in town when I am here on my get away mini vacations from the desert. Take your Family or come alone, it is a nice place. Park on the street, 2 hour limit, or in the rear, which is always full. You want some good food wioth a freindly, good looking happy staff, come to the Breakfast Club. And I am not the owner or own stock n the company, lol.

Among the plethora of breakfast spots in coastal Oceanside, Breakfast Club Diner is a stand-out favorite of mine. I can be found here at least once a week, although I try to eat most of my meals at home when I go out for breakfast--this is where I go! First of all, all of their breakfast items are priced well and accomodate a hefty appetite with larger than customary portions. Their eggs and hash browns are SUPERB! If you love crispy, un-burnt, not soggy, cooked all the way through hash browns, this is where you can find them. Their bacon is DELICIOUS. If you aren't in the mood for eggs or a traditional style breakfast scramble, omelette, etc, TRY THE CRUNCHY MUNCHY FRENCH TOAST! This delight of a meal is almost like a dessert it's so sweet. Fresh strawberries, bananas, and cream on top of crunchy flaked french toast, you won't be sorry you tried it!

I was cruising down to SD and I was starving. I knew that I wanted to stop somewhere around Oceanside, but I had no clue as to where. I pulled out my phone, jumped on Yelp and found Breakfast Club Diner. I had a breakfast special: Fillet Mignon wrapped in bacon with hollandaise sauce, hash browns, 2 eggs AND pancakes! It was great! The steak was awesome. The hash browns are great. The pancakes are really, really good. The coffee was good too. I highly recommend this place for breakfast!

If you like the 80s and you like great breakfast food then you'll love this spot. Perry the owner told me the pancakes are made from scratch with real buttermilk. The hash browns are really good too. Highly recommend this spot

The breakfast Club has an 80's theme.. well obviously! It's a nice atmosphere. The food was good, portions were really large. Price was average. The hash browns were probably the best I've ever had. This place was a great place to go while visiting beautiful Oceanside.

This is a great nostalgic place with really good food. Had the cinnamon raisin french toast and my girlfriend had the pancakes with bananas and strawberries. The next time I go back, I'm definitely getting the chocolate chip pancakes.

Food was good. Staff was friendly...maybe a little too friendly. Our waitress asked if my husband and I were brother and sister. He is from Georgia and I am from India. Hm. A little weird. The chairs at the bar were about 5 inches too high and it was really noisy! The bus boy was sorting silverware next to us so loudly I couldn't hear my own voice! Pancakes were pretty tasty, and they had a good selection. The bacon was good but def NOT the best bacon in town. We would definitely come back and recommend this place to others. Just make sure to sit at an actual table.

I liked the 80s themed diner when I saw it from the street. But I left feeling like it didn't live up to the hype. The food is regular diner food: breakfast and lunch, serving stuff from skillets to sandwiches. I ordered the Breakfast Club skillet; this is a layered masterpiece of browned hash potatoes, cubed ham, bacon, sausage, and cheese. Sounded delicious when I ordered it, but it came out with the cheese looking waxy. And the entire thing was coated in a layer of bright yellow cheese. What was I thinking? The decor is fun, movie posters of Top Gun and, of course, The Breakfast Club featuring angsty Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson were my favorites. I liked our waitress, she was friendly and helpful when it came to ordering something off-menu. In general, though, I don't think the food was special. But I can see the allure. A themed diner, throwback to the 80s, friendly staff and kitschy charm. Must say, though, I personally don't know a single person who, in talking about the 80s, wishes he or she could turn back time to live through it again. I was born at the tail end, and I can say for certain, that the decade's chapter is closed. Don't look back.

I think that the service is extraordinary and Perry the owner is the consummate gentleman. He always has a table for my two young boys and myself. This is their favorite place to eat breakfast. They're only 9 & 10 but they know what they like so that's where we go. The Surfer breakfast burrito is so full, so tasty that I've never been able to eat the whole thing. Needless to say I always know that lunch is going to be the other half of the burrito. His sandwiches are great and that comes from the fresh ingredients that he uses. I usually get the fresh fruit with mine and I haven't been disappointed yet. (As a matter of fact I'm at my computer right now and I'm finishing off the fresh fruit from my delicious grilled ham & cheddar cheese on sourdough. His help is great starting with Portia and his wife. Perry embraces his Greek heritage and makes everyone feel like they've just walked into his home. There are probably 100 restaurants between my house and the Breakfast Club that I could choose to eat but I wouldn't get the fresh ingredients & extraordinary service that I've found at the Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club is a can't miss, soooooo don't miss it!!

Let me start by saying my girlfriend and I have been looking for a breakfast place to enjoy besides going to ihop or Denny's or any mainstream joint. So we stumble across this place and before you know it we are treated like royalty. The service so fast before you turn around your coffee is right there! The food is absolutely amazing and delicious, the hospitality is wonderful they really make you feel like home. And they are very welcoming of the military! Definatly a great place for a breakfast date!

Another great find thanks to Yelp! Picked this place because of the good reviews and it was a convenient stop on the way to LA. Now I wish we didn't live so far away! Arrived at 9:30 on a Sunday morning to find the front of the restaurant packed, but there was no wait for a table in back so we took it. It was empty but didn't stay that way for long. Very friendly & attentive staff, always checking for water & coffee refills. They paid a lot of attention to the little things and were super nice to our 5 year old son. Hubby had the steak and eggs, which he greatly enjoyed. He also finished off son's french toast and immediately regretted ordering pancakes as the side for his meal. He said if he had known how good the french toast was, he would have gotten that instead. I had the florentine benedict, which was delicious! The eggs were poached perfectly, the tomato & spinach also cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of lemony tang. I'm normally not a big fan of hash browns, but the ones here are "ribbon cut" and were fantastic. Put this place on your list for breakfast in North County. We'll definitely be back!

Okay we ate here twice, once for breakfast and then again the next day for lunch. I only have one word - SCRUMPTIOUS! The turkey avocado and bacon sandwich was just plain memorable - in the best way possible. And for our breakfast, we shared their signature skillet, which is a multi-layered piece of breakfast nirvana. The bottom layer is their hash browns, then a layer of ham, bacon, sausage, bell peppers, cheese (two or three kinds), and then topped off with a layer eggs cooked to order. We were so full that neither my husband nor I ate anything else until dinner. Oh my, that was soooo incredibly good. My vote for the best breakfast dish ever!

My family has a time share in Oceanside and Ive been coming here since i was like 10. This new place is sooooo good, I'm definitely going to come here every time I'm in town. We walked to the cafe and got sat right away for a party of 6 on a Saturday, this was awesome! the decor is totally 80's which goes with the name "Breakfast Club", they went all out with the paintings on the walls, pictures and memorabilia. I liked it a lot, it gave off a fun and chill vibe. we all ordered something different and everyones plates looked and tasted great. y brother got the chocolate chip pancakes, they were deliciously sweet, my brother tried their famous bacon which i also tried, it was really good, i think they must fry their bacon to give it that unique and great flavor that they boast about on their menu, deservingly. my mom had a breakfast burrito that was loaded with meats and came with a side of brightly colorful fresh fruit and I had the country fried steak with yummy gravy. We all loved our food and walked out stuffed. it was literal service with a smile and the prices made my parents smile too :) if your in town you should definitely put this place on your list of things to do!

This place was awesome! My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast and had a massive food coma afterwards. All the servers were friendly and the food was excellent. It's a moderately priced menu with food packed with flavor. My girlfriend got breakfast burrito with three meats and was so hearty. I got the strawberry waffle which was sooooo good. Definitely coming back here again!

Breakfast Club is delicious! I went with my best friend when it just opened and ever since, it has continued to impress me. The servers are kind locals and you might find yourself caught up in a conversation with any of them while you are there. However, they never let this slow down the service and the food always shows up within a reasonable amount of time. The food itself is delicious. I highly suggest the club sandwich, which is one of my favorites. Their breakfast food is also amazing. All of the food comes in enormous portions and I almost always come home with leftovers. The prices are reasonable, factoring in how much food you're getting and the quality of the meal.

I came here for Sunday brunch with a party of 5. We were seated within five minutes. When you walk in there is a diner feel to the place and it's perfect for brunch. The walls are decorated with 80's memorabilia and a mural that is pretty awesome. We ordered five very different menu items and I want to say the food came in a reasonable time. The food is good! The country fried steak I had was just what I expected and the portions are very generous. Now I can't speak for everyone else, but I thought the food could have been a little warmer when it was served. Overall, a very solid breakfast place to go to and I would recommend to all.

Oh man! What can I say? We tried this place in it's new location (corner of Coast Highway and Pier View in Oceanside) shortly after moving here. The food was excellent, and within two visits, they remembered our names. The portions are HUGE, so we always split one and we're still stuffed to the gills. The coffee is gourmet and much better than the burnt, bitter stuff at Starbucks in my opinion. You have to try the pancakes, even if you're not a pancake fan. They're the best I've ever had, very sweet, light, and buttery without even adding anything! The staff is the best part of all. , Damian, Ariel, and the others treat you like family, and the owner, Perry, is always around the dining room making sure the customers are happy and well fed. Definitely stop by here on the way through Oceanside if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Loved this restaurant. We picked up our food to go this morning. All the staff was great and very accommodating with any special requests. They had run out of gluten free bread or we would have been having French toast, something I don't get very often. We had a nice conversation with the owner during our short wait for the. Food. We will. Definitely come back next time we are around.

Fantastic food and service, we were seated in the back part of the restaurant. Wall murals everywhere. I got the California burrito, it was huge and came with fruit. I was expecting a little slice of cantaloupe or orange but it was honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, and strawberries. I could only eat half of everything. My husband got the pancakes and made it a meal. The eggs were huge and his pancakes were delicious. For the price you get a lot of food. We can't wait to go again and get some lunch.

Great place for breakfast! Husband and I have tried every breakfast place between o'side and San Marcos. This place is delicious and service was great. I had the corned beef hash & eggs and my husband had the Athenian skillet. Both dishes were worth the price. We'll be back :)

Great food, but they didn't get my significant other her food until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. The bacon is oven cooked and delicious, the pancakes light and fluffy. The eggs over easy were cooked perfectly.

For some reason when my boyfriend and I tried googling this place, it took us to their old location. This place is across the street from the library and city hall. When my boyfriend and I arrived, the place was not busy at all. The waitress was friendly and greeted us right away. I ordered the strawberry flapjacks, while my boyfriend ordered the California. I should have ordered the California instead because it had chicken, cheese, and avocado. It was delicious and really cheesy. My flapjacks were okay; it was more like pancakes instead. The strawberries were on top of the pancakes instead of mixed in with the batter. As we were eating our meal, the place started getting busier, but the waitress still attended our needs. The place is decorated with 80's movie posters (Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones), records (Michael Jackson), and had a mural of the most popular movies in the 80's. Overall, I will most definitely come here again.

This place is amazing!! My boyfriend and I have been looking for a yummy breakfast place or a to die for diner and we found them both in the same spot!! We went out for a bike ride to the Farmer's Market from 9am - 1pm on Thursdays and had breakfast at the Breakfast Club Diner because of the name and decorations. My boyfriend had one of the diner favorites, biscuits covered in gravy, eggs, bacon and a side of toast. The bacon is incredible, i love deep fried baked goodness!! And the gravy has amazing flavor with a hint of spicy, but just enough to make it so yummy you want to devour whatever it's covering. I had the Country Boy Skillet which was hash browns with sliced country fried steak, smothered in gravy served with eggs on top. And a side of butter milk pancakes. DELICIOUS!!! We can't wait to go back there and try the bacon pancakes. This place has great prices, delicious non-greasy food, cleanliness and good service. We might even go back tomorrow!!

came here by accident. it was memorial day and we were actually going to another restaurant but they were just closing. they recommended we try the breakfast club, WOW great recommendation! they obviously have a lot breakfast items on the menu but we all got burgers. all of them being outstanding. mines was the california burger. my wife and stepson both ordered the bbq bacon burgers. they only use angus beef, big difference in taste to most other places. so if you live in oceanside or driving through, like us, stop by and check this little gem out. BTW, loved the whole 80's theme in there.

Overrated. Nothing special that any other diner doesn't have. The food is a little pricey and it is annoying that a diner (a great place to have coffee) has packaged creamers and not fresh cream. Also it's so cramped you feel like your eating with your neighbor.

My family feasted here for lunch while on vacation. This was the culinary highlight of our trip. The service was excellent, the food very tasty and the portions generous. Our table had a cheese and bacon omelette, chocolate chip pancakes, barbecue bacon cheeseburger, kids grilled cheese and Caesar salad. All were outstanding. Perry, thanks for a memorable meal. Hope to see you on the road!
