Great ribs and perfect BBQ chicken all in a lovely environment.

I visited about a week ago. The food here is okay nothing to special. I don't think I'll be coming back to this restaurant just because I think Bounty Hunter and Smokeville in Napa are just better in food and especially in hospitality. I stop by for some lunch it wasn't busy but yet they made me feel unwelcome. Service was a bit poor. I order baby back ribs, macaroni and cheese, chicken strips and seasonal vegetables. The dish that stood out the most was the macaroni it was quite tasty as well as the chicken strips. Overall I won't be recommending this place. I wish I enjoyed my visit because they have great location.

The service was prompt and friendly. The environment was clean and inviting. My father and I enjoyed dinner on the patio, the lighting and fireplaces add a nice touch. The food was wonderful! I felt at home there, knowing that all of the food was harvested from the owner's own land and from local farmers. This is easily my favorite restaurant in Napa.

I went here Sunday night after the Raiders game. (Not a fan of the Raiders but the tickets were free)! My boyfriend had the Briskett, coleslaw &, beans which was to die for. And I had the Sunday Special Fried Chicken, Greens & Mashed w/gravy OMG I was in heaven best fried chicken I ever had. Even the Breast was Moist, so moist it felt like I was bitting into a well baked cupcake. LOL!!! Anywho, we also put in an togo order for MAC N CHEESE, best MAC N CHEESE I ever tasted. No lie! Just not enough!!! I will defiantly be going back, and not to mention the service that was provided was FANTASTIC, I forgot his name tho! So if you go here you will not be dissappointed!
(4)Audrey S.
Went for early Sunday dinner tonight. Service-very knowledgable and friendly-just the way I like it!! Food-fried green tomatoes, beef brisket, fried chicken and apple bundt cake-all yummy! Football on the tellie Air conditioning-ON big plus+++ Will return and recommend!!!
(4)Jason F.
The brisket and pulled pork are great. This is a great place to stop off after shopping at the Napa Premium Outlets or wine tasting in the nearby Napa Valley. Also a great place if you want a quick but delicious meal and you are solo. For a Sunday the place was not too busy.
(3)Lauren K.
The specials were great. Two of us split a persimmons salad and had fish and chips- all delicious. The other two meals were misses. The ribs and brisket came out cold and the fried chicken sandwich came out...not fried (wrong order). Drinks took too long on a night that wasn't overly busy. Probably won't be going back, considering our hundreds of superior local options.

A few months ago we stumbled in after a long, hard day visiting wineries with our Australia friends. They had yet to experience the greatness of good 'ol southern BBQ. We came with high hopes and The Q delivered. I ordered the brisket and ribs. Wonderful choice. The ribs were not soggy and gelatinous as they sometimes can be and the brisket was excellent. Please don't mistake gelatinous for soft and tender. Just because you can smoke this stuff until it becomes a soggy mess doesn't mean you should. There is a happy place in the middle and The Q has found it. We came back over the July 4th weekend for their mac & cheese and there is a 99.7% chance we'll do it again. If you even think you once sort of liked mac & cheese try this version. Next time we're going to order one entree that we can split. We need to save room for the amazing mac & cheese, wonderful cornbread and hopefully still have room for the key lime pie. Divide and conquer. The restaurant is clean and well organized. On both visits our service was friendly, fast and attentive. I really wish they had fountain soda but Mexican Coke is always a good alternative.
(4)Ray M.
Our first visit here, was a to go order. The staff was great. We ordered a half a rack of baby back ribs- they were fantastic and had lots of flavor and meat. The BBQ sauce was average. We also ordered the Sol but it turned out to be a random thick white fish. It was prepared well and tasted fine. Plus a side of garlic fries, we also good. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
(3)Geno V.
Service was very good. Food was good. Nice and cozy environment. Surprising for its location.

BarbersQ is my go-to place on the weekend for lunch because it's right across from both Whole Foods and Target (my shopping meccas!). I've been going there since they opened and followed them through several chef changes, menu alterations, liquor license acquisition, and staffing issues. Usually, I'm quite happy with the food, cocktails and the service, however, this past Sunday was slightly disappointing because my butter lettuce salad was to be adorned with "seasonal fruit." It did have a bit of sliced apple, but apples are a fall fruit and it's almost May. A bit of bait and switch? Plus the two crab cakes, although delicious, were the size of a nickel. I'll keep returning, however, it feels like home.
(4)Kathleen G.
I don't think i have had anything that's been less than fantastic here.

I don't get it, there are soooo many great places to eat in this valley. I have tried this store x 2, both times female waitress in a big rush, we were the only ones in the place & she was in a hurry rudely interruping our conversation several times. No greeting when we entered the building, same last time. We're done, won't go back. Also high prices for poor quality meal.
(1)Katherine C.
A fancy bbq joint in a strip mall. The food was yummy: ribs, brisket, sausages, pulled pork were all delicious. The sides were ok. Mac and cheese was a little greasy. Very pricy for what it was. I'd prefer the other bbq places in Napa over this one.
(3)Hector A.
Food was very good and the service was awesome. Very friendly people and attentive staff

Friendly service!
(3)David B.
I ordered some poundage of brisket, sauce, rice and beans, and citrus slaw for a birthday dinner for 10. The food was awesome and the price was reasonable. Loved the sauce. My instincts were good doubling the brisket order. Not because we needed it at dinner, but so we could feast on it the next day and get a bunch in the freezer too! Very professional - they even got me a printed menu and an exact price with tax a week before the event. I highly recommend the Q and Gene. Oh yeah, and a follow up email from Gene (early) Sunday morning after the party the night before to see how we liked the food. Wow.
(5)Darren L.
I've dined here a few times and with each visit I felt I was paying a bit too much for BBQ. On a recent visit I walked in to the restaurant just before 9:00PM to a half dozen tables eating dinner, lights on, music playing. The bartender gave me a strange look and I said "hey there, can I get a bite to eat?" He replied "actually, we close at 9." I was a single diner, clearly looking for a quick bite to eat, and there were a handful of tables still dining. I can understand declining business if the restaurant was empty and it was well after closing time, but this was just lame.
(3)Tess S.
The service was five stars as was our bottle of wine. The Caesar salad was generous but they went way too heavy on the garlic in the dressing. The platter for two wasn't anything extraordinary. The ribs, chicken and sausage were dry and seemed like left-overs from the day before. The rice and beans were over-salted. This restaurant was highly recommempnded by friends. It was a total waste of money. Very disappointed.
(1)George B.
In a strip mall, but don't be put off. Went with 4 friends, 2 of whom had eaten there before. Service is great. Friendly, not intrusive, knowledgeable staff. Water glasses always refilled. Food arrived quickly (except for cornbread, which is baked to order). Very reasonable prices. And good food. Three kinds of cole slaw. Mac n cheese. Beef Brisket. Outstanding fish n chips. Some of the best bbq chicken we've had. Good Caesar salad. Ribs are "out of this world." Incredible grilled Brussels sprouts. (We ordered an extra to take home.) Good sized portions -- 4 of 5 people had doggie bags to take home. Only thing that wasn't as good was the corn bread -- but that is a personal taste. This was moist and a tad sweet (and served with honey butter). I prefer one with a little bite. But, like I said, personal taste on that one. Good condiments -- three types of bbq sauce, plus other hot sauces (the Frog's Heat was quite good). Too full to try dessert. Minor downside is that the place is a bit cramped. There is outside seating with heaters, but being January, we ate inside. Full bar if you're interested. All five of us were quite pleased and said we'd go back. Yes, indeed.
(4)Meshanette J.
What a FIND!!!! So glad we tried this place. Farm fresh meats and produce, original tasty mixed drinks, succulent BBQ, skillet cornbread with sweet butter, great knowledgeable servers and then consistently AWESOME MUSIC!!!! I have been 5x since I discovered it three months ago ;-)
(5)C O.
I had dinner there last night and was completely disappointed. The brisket was dry and uninspiring and tasted like it had been cooked earlier and warmed up in a microwave. My husband's pulled pork was dry as well. The sausage was good but for the price, I would go elsewhere.
(2)Megan C.
Throughout the years I've visited Barbers Q, mostly to enjoy lunch on their patio. Overall I liked it, but didn't love it, until last night. Met up with a friend (she chose the place) and I needed some dinner - low and behold it was Monday fried chicken night. Let me tell you, I'm crazy about fried chicken and if it's on a menu, I'm going to order it. I've had a lot of fried chicken and have enjoyed it at a lot of places like ad hoc in Yountville or The Front Porch in SF, but Barbers Q takes the cake -er- fried chicken happiness. The skin was crunchy, all pieces super moist and the flavor will blow you away. I had a food "moment" that was just plain awesome. The manager moonlighting as the bartender was kind enough to switch out the coleslaw for french fries, a substantial portion that I inhaled shamelessly. Not a bad deal to get 4 pieces of chicken, mound of fries and collard greens for $17! This place had definitely moved up a few notches for their blissful fried chicken!
(4)Jason H.
This place is outstanding. The manager on duty Mathew took very good care of me and my party. I came in with some clients and have some pretty specific food allergies. Mathew, the staff and the chief were very accommodating. Top notch service, top notch food and great pricing. I would recommend this place for any occasion and I will be back for sure! The owners have put together quite a staff and should be very proud of their team.
(5)Anastasia B.
This is by no means an upscale BBQ place as some yelpers suggest. It's in a strip mall for goodness sake. What crack are you smoking? (because I sure as heck want some!) The hostess/manager/owner (whoever the heck she is) was a bit rude when seating us outside. There was a plethora of empty tables to choose from. We had ours picked out, half in the shade and half in the sun. Yet she still insisted on seating us where she wanted to seat us. Oh well. We changed tables anyway after she left. The service is also a bit neglectful. I can't imagine what the service is like when the tables are full and it's actually busy. Their BBQ is very pricey. I'm not sure it's worth it. The pulled pork was tasty and succulent. The brisket was so tender that chewing wasn't even necessary. It just melted in your mouth. The baby back ribs were a bit dry and bland. The table BBQ sauces were too sweet for my taste, but the vinegar made the ribs and the coleslaw (which was in desperate need of acid) much more appetizing. I'm glad I tried BarBersQ since it definitely satisfied my BBQ craving, but I don't think I'll be back any time soon. 3.5 stars
(3)Christina J.
This place is ok. It's definitely not my favorite BBQ place. It's clean and nicer than most BBQ places I've gone but the food is just ok. Nothing special, it's not like the meat was super tasty and the sauce wasn't memorable either. The corn bread yummy though. The service was pretty slow as well. Also it is in a weird location in a shopping center.

Barbeque is more than just a method of cooking meat; it's a southern tradition--a way of life. Barbeque isn't just beef and pork; it's down-home comfort food. With those words in mind, here's what I found at BarBersQ: ATMOSPHERE: The décor here is all horizontal and vertical lines with virtually no color, resulting in a stark, sterile ambiance. The black and white photographic prints adorning the walls, while of good quality, do nothing to alleviate the sense of being in a modern art gallery rather than a Q joint. SERVICE: BarBersQ service would be just fine if their carefully trained staff wasn't so intent on hustling customers to pad the tab. It began the minute we sat down. A busboy approached the table and asked if we would prefer tap water or bottled water (at a slightly higher price). Then comes the wine and food hustle from our server. At one point she was so involved in a lengthy dissertation about wine selection at a nearby table that I was tempted to throw a salt shaker to get her attention. FOOD: The only true Q items on the menu are Memphis-style ribs, a "Bar Be Que" chicken plate, a couple of combos that add sausage and pulled pork, and three Q sandwiches. The other entrees are about steak, chops, fish, and lamb burgers. BarBersQ does offer some BBQ-like sides, but the ham and cheese biscuits several reviewers raved about have been replaced by grilled Castroville artichoke with a lemon-caper aioli. Aoli? Come on! I ordered a pulled-pork sandwich and an additional side of mac & cheese. The side that comes with the sandwich is a butter lettuce salad with apple slices--about as Q as crepes! The sandwich was served on a four-inch bun of unknown heritage. They did put some slaw on the sandwich, but it did nothing for the flavor. Even with a healthy squirt of extra sauce, the sandwich was bland and boring. The mac and cheese had an appetizing texture, but like the sandwich, it was short on flavor. VALUE: A four-inch sandwich with a funky butter lettuce and apple salad goes for $12. Miniscule servings and tourist prices do not a value make. BOTTOM LINE: If BarBersQ wasn't masquerading as a BBQ joint, and if their employees weren't on the hustle, I'd give 'em three stars and be done with it. Under the circumstances, however, they get two stars and my personal promise never to darken their doorstep again for another helping of Frou-Frou-Q.

This place rules. BarBersQ is on the Michelin Guide's "bib gourmand" list (fine dining for under $40/person) and for good reason. They deliver innovative, gourmet-quality food for a very reasonable price. I split a full rack of the ribs with my dining companion. The ribs are listed on the menu as the house special and it's easy to see why: they're super delicious. Not the juiciest ribs in the world as others have noted but I don't think that's what they're going for. They were definitely tender and the sauce was great. The sides were also delicious. Chinese broccoli sauteed in butter, white wine and garlic. Oh man was that good. So flavorful, I couldn't get enough. The cornbread had honey mixed into the batter and was simply divine. The only thing that didn't blow me away was the coleslaw but that was still pretty good once I added some fresh pepper to it. Props to BarBersQ for having individual pepper grinders on each table -- I love places that do that. All told, I had all the stuff mentioned above, a sundae for dessert, payed a $15 corkage fee and the whole bill only came to $60 for two people. Great food for a great price.

Came here for lunch one day and was pleasantly surprised by the decor and ambiance. The restaurant itself looks really nice, and the staff was really accommodating. We decided to sit outside because it was a gorgeous day. In a group of 5, we had 2 orders of The Q Combo which had the bbq chicken, pulled pork, and the brisket. The bbq chicken was pretty good, but it was sorta dry. The pulled pork was A-OK, and so was the brisket. The meat itself was only okay, but the volcano sauce was good. Overall, as a BBQ place, it was okay, but it wasn't too special. The sauce was good though, so I will come back for that.
(3)Katie H.
I have visited BarBersQ twice now, and each time it has been truly wonderful. The first was a lunch visit in June, and the last was about a week ago for dinner. Let me start off by saying that the dining room is so softly lit, and it really makes you feel cozy. We ordered some corn bread, shrimp, and mac & cheese appetizers. They were all delicious, but the breaded shrimp were fantastic. Shrimp eating heaven! I ordered the night special of chicken jambalaya, it was pretty decent but nothing to rave about. It tasted almost bland but had a nice kick to it. I wouldn't order it again if I had the choice. My boyfriend ordered the beef brisket and OH MY! It was amazing. So tender and juicy, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. The service is exceptional, and very attentive. Our server was quick to give us suggestions on wine parings. I love love love this place, and will continue to come back.

What? How can this be a good BBQ place in a strip mall? AND, it's a trendified BBQ place. The Horror. We took a risk. It was SO WORTH IT. Smoked chicken sandwich & pulled pork BBQ sandwich and french fries. That's all you need. It comes with a side of cole slaw (chicken sandwich) and butter lettuce apple salad (pulled pork). It was soft, roasty, saucy, melty, yummy, nummy, all the words that surpass delicious. I know, I'm not from the South. I'm a little Chinese girl from LA who doesn't know what real BBQ is. If you are one too, then you might REALLY like this place, because damn, it was good. Also, they use this special hot sauce from an awesome winery called Frog's Leap. Apparently their GM dabbles in artisanal hot sauce making. It's a bit thicker, smokier, and sweeter than the normal runny, transparent, sour Tabasco. Make sure you drizzle it all over your sammie and get some on your fingers for a snack later.

I only had a mac n cheese here, but it made my friend and me sick. i don't know what it is...maybe the cheese was too overpowering, but i seriously felt a little bit nauseous after eating the mac n cheese. i saw my friends get the fried chicken which looked pretty good...but be warned about the mac n cheese
(2)Gina M.
Great BBQ! We got the Q for Two and it was delicious! The mac-n-cheese is super yummy too!

This review is for both the restaurant AND using the Q as a caterer... First, the restaurant. We love it. Absolutely love it. High end BBQ....perfect. Wine list is fantastic, as you'd expect in Napa. Staff is wonderful. We sat in Clay's section. While quiet, he's witty and fun when he gets going. We've been about four times now....we will absolutely go back when we are in town again. Second--- The Q as a caterer. We used them for our wedding. Amazing. It all started in the very beginning when we were doing a day of tastings with different caterers. We knew we wanted to work with them after two things....they whipped together a thing of truffle fries for my now wife after she mentioned loving them (they were not on the menu or anything). Second...owner Gene and GM (and head caterer) Kelly spent the entire, what turned out to be, hour and a half with us at our table getting to know us. No other caterer did that. We ate well, and had fantastic conversation. They were coming up with ideas on the fly while hearing what was important to us, and what we liked and didn't like. They continued getting to know us when we met to determine rentals for the wedding. So, so, so easy to work with.....and the food at the wedding ---- I've never heard so many compliments about food for a big crowd. Our guests LOVED it all. We can't recommend them enough!
(5)Marta H.
Clean place, I like the simple contemporary look. I have eaten here at least 5 times in the last 2 years. Pulled pork sandwich is my favorite.
(5)Justin L.
Don't pull a U-Turn when you pull up to this spot just because it's in a strip mall. If you do, you'll miss out on some seriously tasty grub. *Benton's Country Ham, Cheddar & Scallion Biscuits *Memphis Style Pulled Pork Sandwich *Smoked Vande Rose Baby Back Ribs *Mac & Cheese Get all of the above like we did and you'll be a happy customer...I gar-rone-T-it!
(4)Eunice C.
I've been here only once but I am already a fan. I had Mac and cheese and wedge salad. Mac and cheese was definitely one of the best I've tried. It reminded me of Mac and cheese from the kitchen in LA. It's very flavorful and not too cheesy. Wedge Salad was good but it had too much blue cheese dressing on it. I don't like blue cheese and the menu didn't specify the dressing. My fiance had their pulled pork burger and said it was the best pulled pork burger. We also liked the waitress. I'm not a fan of barbecue but will definitely be back here for more Mac and cheese!
(4)Julie M.
Have been here a handful of times now, and have always had a great, smooth experience... Until tonight. Me and my to-be mother in law went for a later dinner tonight at 8:25 and were brushed of by a lady with short brown hair that seemed more interested in the conversation she was having with a table. She told us after a long awkward silence since their slow tonight the kitchen is closed since they close at 8:30, well that's wonderful thanks for turning away or service! Very rudely, great way to loose locals business, I won't be returning here or recommending it! She didn't seem to care and quickly returned to her conversation. So rude!
(2)Lu E.
Had catering from here. So darn tasty! Loving the brisket and the pulled pork. Oh and the mac and cheese...mmmm I have vowed to visit the restaurant the next time I am in Napa...or I may even have to make a special trip. Good BBQ is hard to find, especially in wine country! Everything I had was tasty. The catering that was ordered for approximately 25 people could have easily fed 35-40. So much food. The BBQ sauce was tangy and flavorful, the pulled pork had a bit of a kick, and the brisket was so tender and well cooked. It's making my mouth water just writing this review... The mac and cheese was ridiculous--it was creamy with a good cheese flavor, the collard greens were good too. Even the cornbread was good, which can be a touchy thing, especially when it's catered and has to travel. I could go on and on, but I'll spare you the details. I will definitely be back here. I may not eat for a day before i go (and probably won't be hungry for a day after i eat there), but I will be back!
(5)Uncle Fishbits Aeneas X.
Great! Good barbecued chicken, good ribs... great mac and cheese. I dunno... I was sort of non plussed. It is supposed to be awesome but it tasted as if it was an hour old or so... sort of dry and overcooked. We had to wait a bit.... but it was fine overall. Not worth a wait, I would say.
(3)Joanna T.
Decor was good. Wine list was decent. Beer selection not bad. We started off w the oysters. In their defense we just got back from new orleans where the chargrilled oysters are in a class of their own but these oysters were greasy and lacking flavor. Next were the "crispy" wings. They were mediocre at best. When I enter a BBQ establishment I expect unbelievable ribs. These were below par. The ribs were dry and tough and lacking flavor. I had to douse them in sauce just to swallow them. In retrospect I read that I should've tried the fried chicken. I feel terrible giving a bad review but I have to be honest...if ure visiting there are much better restaurants to frequent
(1)Clayton P.
I never thought I would find a good BBQ in northern california, but BarBersQ really delivered. Had the heaping plate of meat that is The Taste of the Q for Two. The standouts here were the oh so tender ribs and perhaps some of the best brisket I have ever had. One thing I really loved was that it didn't feel like any of the meat needed or deserved to have bbq sauce slathered all over it...although the sauce was solid. The cole slaw was great as well and I thought the cornbread was just so-so. If you somehow have room left try and leave room for the BarBersQ Lime Pie. It was such a fantastic way to finish an amazing meal. My only real knock on the place was the space (small, narrow, and in a strip mall) and how hot it was in the place. But none of that would deter when to come back when I am in the area. I do think I would strictly focus on the brisket and ribs -- could be tempted to order the pulled pork again.
(4)Marty R.
Been up there twice for the fried chicken .Glad to see they have it as a regular item on the menu now. The Fulton Valley Free Range Fried Chicken is Great. Wasn't impressed by any of the side dishes - The greens were flat and so were the mashers. I will, however return although I may never have anything but the FVFRFC ... Oh! And I really love being able to sit outside with my pooch at my feet. Just to forwarn...... the fried chicken is back to Sunday only .... except for Buckets on Monday nites. So.... don't make a special trip other than those two days (2/2012)

OMG! This was sooo good. We were so in the mood for BQ, and this definitely did the trick. Totally NOT bummed that this place is in a strip mall, as it's tasteful and welcoming - fold open windows and great ambiance. A short and sweet wine and beer list had just what we wanted, and our server was eager to make us welcome and keep our glasses full. We had lobster fritters and a wedge salad, followed by baby-back ribs and fried chicken. Collard greens were seasoned perfectly, and studded with hamhocks, and the cheesy grits were cheesy. Tasty, tasty, tasty. Did the trick for the craving, and had leftovers too!

3.5 stars. We came here for Saturday lunch. I liked the modern look to the place and on a warm sunny day, dining outside was great, especially when you have a baby that's gonna throw everything on the ground! Service was good. For my wife and I, we had the A Taste of the Q for Two. I guess the rating is 3.5 stars because we weren't overly impressed by the food. The pulled pork was pretty good, but the chicken, sausage, and ribs were just okay. The crispy onions were pretty skimpy for the Q for Two and we also had to order some cornbread to go with our plate of meat.
(4)Florence W.
3.5 Stars. Went for lunch on Saturday. We were one of the first customers of the day. Our waiter was really nice and informative. For a bbq place, they sure have a lot of seafood on their daily specials. We ordered the conch fritters (special of the day) for appetizer, and Taste of the Q for 2 to share. The appetizer was good as fritters but we couldn't taste too much conch in them. The Taste of the Q for 2 came in a big platter. It has everything: homemade sausage, chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Everything on that plate was so good, moist, tender and tasty!! It also came with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was just OK. The meats were definitely the stars in this show. The waiter brought out 2 kinds of bbq sauce (mild and spicy) and 1 vinegrette based sauce to try. I like the spicy bbq sauce best even though most of the meat didn't really needed any sauce. They were good on their own. I needed some bread/ bun to go with all that meat, and asked the waiter for a bun. He gladly took my order, and several minutes later came out with a nicely toasted bun. We were wondering if they were going to charge us for the bun and yes they did. $2.50 for the toasted bun. The restaurant eventually filled up throughout our meal. The decor was modern and chic with black and white pictures on the wall. The busboy refilled our iced teas regularly and the manager (I assume) came over and asked if everything was ok. Service was nice. We were so full we couldn't finish our plate. As I was paying, I saw a to-go menu in the check cover and the chocolate pecan pie caught my attention. It sounded so delicious! Based on the yumminess that I just ate here, I had to get one to go! (I am minus-ing half a star because they charge their customers so much $ for a bun, and the restaurant is full of flies ....)
(4)Audrey P.
Had a great lunch here last week with the bf. We kept it simple: I had the grilled cheese (yum!) and he had the burger. Nothing fancy, but both were delicious and the fries were perfect. Love all the hot sauce options, too. The one thing that really stood out was the bf's Bacon-Bourbon Cocktail (Manhattan?). On the rocks and easy drinking, I could see spending an afternoon on the patio throwing back way too many of them, they were that delicious. I stuck to sparkling wine, though, and was absolutely satisfied. Since the restaurant is located near all my favorite stores (Trader Joe's, World Market, Whole Foods, etc.) I can picture BarBersQ as my go-to lunch spot when I'm running my weekend errands. Who doesn't like to get a little bourbon buzz on before the grocery shopping?! ;)
(4)Joan T.
We went here for a graduation lunch event. I called in advance for a table of 15 and they set it up perfect and the service was on to it right when we got in. I tried the fish and I regret not trying any ribs but the fish was Okay. I love the ambiance and the set up of this place. It was very swanky and fun. My friend thought the waiters were *yummy* well if you're into that kind of thing. =) My boyfriend who was the graduate enjoyed his mini burgers and the atmosphere to get to catch up with his buddies that he hasn't seen in awhile. If you're on a budget to eat out, this place is a bit pricey. This is definitely quality over quantity. Overall everything was great and I will order something different if I plan to come back to visit Napa. ENJOY!
(4)Jay K.
O- Oh my God I came in my pants M- the best Mac and cheese ever! G- Get there, now!!!!!
(5)David S.
Outstanding! Owner arranged for special apple vinegar ribs...so tender, just a bit sweet and tangy and not salty. Perfection...along with spicy baked beans al dente, coleslaw not drowning in mayo. Brisket also succulent, no fat anywhere, and ready for a great selection of sauces.
(5)Roger H.
I almost bit my finger off here. I got so delirious when eating that I was tearing at the ribs like a mangy starving coyote and my finger got in the way of my feeding frenzy. Seriously, like one of those hyenas ripping apart a gazelle in Africa. I was completely outta control with the amount of meat I was stuffing into my mouth. Yeah, it was that good. I highly recommend the taste of Q which is a sampler for 2 people. It's a can't miss! Next time I'm in Napa I will drive out of my way to get here.

Good spot to go when you want to spend time with your dinner companion :) We went on a Saturday night (7pm), and it took 1.5 hour to get the entree. Don't get the combo bbq platter - hot link overcooked (dry)and they give you fat slices for brisket. Pull pork, french fries, and hush puppies were good. Next time I crave BBQ, I will make a trip to Oakland.

Great little place for a lunch meeting. The staff was very attentive & friendly. I liked how the patio was setup with lots of foliage. It felt like I was at a bistro versus in a busy shopping service. I was, however, very disappointed with the BBQ. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't outstanding either. Nothing special about how the ribs were cooked or their different BBQ sauces. All three sauces were bland & the "spicy" sauce was not spicy at all, even when I added their hot sauce to it. I'd probably go back to try something else. The rest of the menu sounded really good.

We took some friends here for dinner, as we had heard good things about it, but there were so many things that just went wrong. We had a reservation for 6 people, which was booked far in advance, and they stuck us outside. In the cold. Great, they have heat lamps, but it only worked on about half the table. I wish we had been informed ahead of time that they were going to put us there, I would have requested an indoor table. The service? Terrible. It was about 25 minutes before the server even came over to take our order. He did stop by after about 5 minutes to ask for a drink order, but no one was ready yet, and just didn't return. Food took an extremely long time to come out, and was dropped at the wrong seats. While most of the people at the table did enjoy their dinner, I found the sauce on my sandwich to be extremely overpowering (I had the smoked chicken sandwich, they put about a gallon of blue cheese mayo on it. word of advice, ask for it on the side). From start to finish, we were there for over 2 hours, way too long for a casual joint. The meal could have easily been wrapped up in about an hour if the service and food delivery was where it should have been.

BarbersQ should be reviewed as a great "Napa-style" restaurant with lightly smoked meat but NOT a BBQ spot. The service was excellent (thanks Melissa), the food is good (not great), but the best BBQ---not even close. I almost gave it four stars (for their effort) but I decided for three just because they call themselves a BBQ place--I'm serious, I was that offended. Now, for those that may not understand what real "BBQ" and "southern food" should taste like, I can understand why you think BarbersQ is a 'taste of soul food' with corn bread, green, mac and cheese, and oh, some wine with all that. Hmmm, well for the rest of us that know better and want some great food for a reasonable price, I say to pass on this spot. Just so you know, this is my very first yelp post, although my husband and I read the reviews quite often. He moved here from Baton Rouge 3 years ago (and he's a cook) so we've traveled all over the bay area looking for the absolute best food of all types. We love a variety of cuisines from Thai Food to Sushi (our late night spot is Kansai in Oakland!) to BBQ to fine dining. So we decided to visit BarbersQ in Napa this past Saturday to continue our quest (I was curious to find out why this was the only place listed on the Chron100 for BBQ). As we drove up to the place my husband's first reaction was "why don't i smell anything?" Any BBQ connoisseur knows that you should be able to find the place by the smell--that was our first flag. Nevertheless we decided to continue our venture. After looking through the menu I wasn't sure if I wanted to venture out so I asked our waitress (Melissa) if I could please taste a piece of brisket before ordering. She was very nice and stated that although it wasn't their normal policy, she would ask. They brought a piece of brisket with their mild sauce on it. It was good and tender, however, I immediately knew my suspicions about BBQ in Napa were accurate. On the good side, we loved the fact that they offer a nice North Carolina sauce, and their cornbread was pretty good. We also ordered the rockefeller oysters (average), pulled pork sandwich (disappointing) with corn slaw (bland), and the rib and brisket combo (disappointing). Overall, we were very underwhelmed but loved the service and the cleanliness of the location, and understand why "napa locals" may consider it great Q. THE SEARCH FOR GREAT BAY AREA "Q" CONTINUES...

I picked this restaurant based on the good reviews on yelp and was a bit disappointed. It's not that good. Called in to let them know 10 people were coming for lunch and when we showed up the table was ready for us. That was good. These are the dishes we got: Barbersq chicken $14.75 - half a chicken w/ collard greens. CK Sonoma mini lamb burgers $12.75-mom got this, 2 mini lamb burgers w/ some greens in the middle. She thought it was ok. If we didn't order some sides she would have been hungry. Vande Rose Memphis pulled pork sandwich $9.95-It was Dry!! They forgot the coleslaw and the sauce on my order, didn't realize it until I looked at the menu Toro E. took a pic of. I had to drown the pork w/ the hot bbq sauce on the table. Salad was just ok. Special of the day: Brisket sandwich. Hubby liked it very much, very tender meat. cornbread & honey butter $3.25-pretty good. 3 small cornbread served hot w/ honey butter on the side. collard greens $4.95- i keep wanting to like it, but we all didn't. cup of chili $5.75- was decent macaroni & cheese $5.75-not very good at all. Just boring noodles under some cheese on the top. Don't get. Smoked baby back or St. louis ribs $14.75 half rack or $27.50 full comes w/ coleslaw. The waitress didn't ask for which kind of ribs..relatives wouldn't know anyways. Think they liked it. Service wasn't that great, and food just average at best. Credit cards taken. Bathrooms available. Location: Behind Target, next to a Dialysis clinic. Look for the big Q sign and the outside patio in front.

After baking in the heat from wine tasting in Napa Valley, we made a pit stop here to try BarBersQ. I stumbled on it by just googling BBQ in Napa Valley. Although BarBersQ is in a plaza, their food is definitely better than just "plaza food" !! Aside from the food being good, their service was exceptional. Sure there weren't many customers here at 530p on a Monday evening, but I think they would have done the same had the place been packed. We started off with the BAKED OYSTERS. 6 for $13? Rather steep but they definitely prepared this well. I would order this if you're an oysters fan. We moved on and ordered the HALF RACK OF RIBS W/ COLE SLAW. I don't know why I didn't substitute the slaw for something else since I detest slaw, but I got it anyway. Didn't try it. The ribs were cooked pretty well but I have to say the meat didn't fall off the bone. What I like about BarBersQ is that they have 3 different BBQ sauces to try: a more watery vinaigrette one, mild and hot. They were all good -- I recommending mixing the watery one with the mild one. Yum. AND the winner for the evening is BarBersQ's MAC AND CHEESE!! I got a side of this for $7.00 and it was worth EVERY PENNY. The noodles were cooked 'al dente', the sauce was not too thick but not too watery, and the overall flavor was good. I will definitely come back here for their mac & cheese! YUM-O!

This is the second time we have been here and both times were excellent. Good service and a great wine list. This time the half rack of ribs was more than enough (took some home) and the cole slaw was terrific. Hubby had the Sunday Fried chicken and it made him smile all the way home. We were really in need of comfort food and BarBersQ delivered. Oh - I almost forgot to mention the best chicken soup ever! Next time I will get a bowl instead of the cup and just have them pack my entree to go right away!
(5)Tracy W.
So disappointing. I was looking forward to good barbecue and convinced my husband to make the drive from Sonoma to Napa. We should have stayed home! We ordered the barbecue for two, and it came out slightly warm-the one plus is that there was a lot of meat on the plate so we had plenty to take home. The cucumbers is the cucumber salad were soggy and I don't think they were fresh. I wasn't a big fan of there bbq sauce either. The hush puppies were great-highly recommended! Service was so-so. We had to keep asking for water, silverware, etc. For the price, it just wasn't worth it. I'd rather go to a hole in the wall for great bbq at a decent price, then spend what we did at a chi-chi bbq that had so-so food. Which is a shame because I really wanted to like this place.
(2)Elsie N.
Maybe 3.5 stars but definitely not a 5-star place. I had the seemingly popular friend chicken. Eh. No big to do. Very nice looking place especially given that it's in a strip mall. Decor and ambiance all nice. Wine list looks great. Nice service too but the food just wasn't spectacular. At least not what I ordered. The menu had lots to offer so maybe something else next time...
(3)Caroline T.
I can't give this place enough compliments. Food is fantastic (fried chicken, vinegar chicken, tobiko oysters, garlic butter artichoke, etc) and they have an open outdoor seating area that is super dog friendly. Went to BarBersQ two days in a row it was that good!
(5)Jessica G.
Ok ladies listen up! If you wanna go out to eat and watch all the young hotties serve you this is the place to go!!! Not only is the food fabulous (BBQ pulled pork sandwich!) but so is the magical hands of Brandon the bartender! His cocktails were absolutely delicious! Service was amazing! I highly recommend this place!!!
(5)R W.
Go on Mondays for the fried chicken, it's really really good (don't forget the pepper vinegar- that's what really makes it!). I would also recommend the mac and cheese and the collard greens. Yum!
(5)Jennifer L.
Always solid food, but a little pricing for the setting (strip mall). The wine list needs to be updated more often but friendly and knowledgeable service. Get the wings.
(4)Larry C.
Stellar experience at BarbersQ. Was visiting friends and came across this great place. Guy named Scott took care of us. Very personable and knowledgeable about the food/wine etc..plus a great ambassador for the valley.
(5)Amber M.
Delicious! I had the ribs, fried chicken, mac and cheese, cole slaw and corn bread. MMMMM....good! Service was very nice as well.
(5)Deb S.
This place is one of those treasures that you almost have to "know someone" to know about. Since it's nestled in the back of the BelAir Shopping Center you would never guess that some of the best food in the Napa Valley was coming out of there. It's also not just barbecue (though there's a reason Sunset Magazine calls it the best barbecue in the west!) There's always a fish special and fresh-from-the-garden veggie specials. And now that they have a full bar - along with a great wine list - it's just heaven. If you're stargazing in Napa-style, you're likely to see chefs and winemakers lined up at the bar or on the comfy leather banquettes. The staff, from the manager to busboys are all exceptionally well-trained and courteous. Go more than twice and you're family to them. Check it out.
(5)J N.
As a restaurant four stars, as a BBQ place 3. My companion and I ordered the sampler, which was solid. While the brisket was probably the best I've ever had and the chicken was pretty good the pork ribs (which I consider fairly bulletproof) were none too special. The best thing here was the bottle of "Frog Sauce" which I would've bought if they'd've sold it (the other sauces are too sweet). The coleslaw disappointed, it was chunky enough but the flavor did not appeal to me (I'm generally a huge fan of slaw). I prefer beer with my Q and their list was a disappointment, especially considering their menu. I do think it's worth returning to try the Mac-and-Cheese and perhaps the whole fried chicken as well as more brisket. I'd consider this my last minute replacement place in Napa, after all it might be possible to do worse in the food Mecca.
(3)C. L. B.
A one star rating on yelp stands for "Eek! Methinks not." If you ask me to pay that for BBQ, I thinks not! Three stars here says "A-OK." Which is how the food is. A single serving of mac and cheese isn't so comforting when it costs you $7! $8 for grilled cheese? Really? For $9 the chicken soup had better save my soul, not just soothe it. And for only $16 you can eat fried chicken here, but Sunday only. The food is fine, the service is personal and friendly, the wine list is unlike anything I have ever seen in a BBQ joint anywhere, but I can't pay that for BBQ! True story: Had a Friday lunch with a friend. We shared the mini lamb burgers for an app, each ate a salad, each ate a main item, and shared a bottle of wine. Our ticket was $178! Go to Buster's in Calistoga for real BBQ. See my review.
(2)Al E.
My local place to go! Food is always consistent and satisfying. Love the vinegar chicken with the sweet, sticky sauce. Best fries in Napa! Staff is very attentive without being intrusive. Great local wine list that contains alot of my friends wines. Only thing I wish they had is a beer tap and sometimes have to wait longer for the food to come out.....but have another glass of wine, you'll feel better!

We went when it first opened and didn't become fans. But we gave it a second chance last night, and it didn't disappoint. I had the All-You-Can-Eat ribs, which for $16.95 is a super deal. They start you off with 3/4 of a rack, and if you finish that they bring you more. The ribs were tasty and tender. I tried all the BBQ sauces, and the Mild seemed almost more spicy and flavorful than the Spicy. The coleslaw was excellent, creamy as good coleslaw should be. My husband had the combo platter with ribs and brisket, and he claims that the brisket was even better than the ribs, so we're all happy. Now I see why he didn't offer me any. We shared the Hot Fudge Sundae, which was passable, skimpy on the fudge. A nice gimmick would be to provide you with one of those BBQ sauce squeeze bottles, but full of fudge. I know this is in Napa, but wine is not exactly the best thing to pair with BBQ. I wish they would replace some of the austere, thinnish wines on the menu with either good beer on tap or very rich and ballsy reds (like stuck Zinfandels and the such). We had an adorable waiter, who was sweet and attentive and had a beautiful smile. All in all, worth a trip.
(3)Tina J.
My review is probably a star short due to the fact that I am on a low carb diet. Low carb means NO SUGAR. No sugar means nothing with a rub, batter or sauce. I know, I know...why did I come here then? Well we were just there in that spot and went in. And I was thinking MEAT, always low carb! The waitress was very nice and checked with the chef to help me make a choice. I ended up with some plain, but tasty, pork....a nice side salad and some really good collard greens. My daughter, aged 9, ordered macaroni and cheese (she liked very much) and shrimp. The shrimp was mighty small, like 5 shrimp on a plate for 15 bucks. Hmmm. I promise to come back some day and try those tasty sounding pork sandwiches, some cheddar-chive biscuits, mac and cheese and/or fried chicken!!
(3)Renee B.
Outstanding food and great service. A must before or after the wine tasting!
(5)Robin A.
Great place for groups. Reasonably tasty food and at a good price. Took a long time between the appetizer and the delivery of the entree. If you're a BBQ fan - you'll enjoy this place - lots of different BBQ styles to select from. Being a vegetarian - I'm always on the lookout for a place (regardless of type) that has something for the veggie crowd. Not much for we vegetarians at BarBersQ. However, it you're OK with doing sides - lots of fun things to select from. I had brussel sprouts, cole slaw, and cornbread. All were very tasty and I'd order each again. Enjoy.
(4)Dave N.
Great fried chicken specials on Sunday and Monday nights.
(4)Kevin D.
They need more of a selection the menu is limited. Had the fried shrimp which was ok. The spinach salad was drenched in dressing so ask for the dressing on the side, unless you dont care that your spinach dies by drowning.
(2)Ana K.
The ribs, the pulled pork sandwich or the Cobb salad, everything is fantastic and with top ingredients! The wines are fairly priced and you will enjoy yourself!

I've been trying to get here for Sunday Fried Chicken for a LONG time, and I finally did yesterday. It was a rainy Sunday in Napa, but soon, I would be warm and cozy from a great meal at BarBersQ. I've been on a quest for Fried Chicken since trying Ad Hoc's Fried Chicken. This place may be a worthy contender for top prize, because of the variety. We began our feast with the biscuits, lamb mini burgers and the Wedge salad. All were very good. Don't pass them up, and order them as starters. The biscuits were not dry and crumbly, as you normally find. They came with ham and pepper jelly. The ham was almost like prosciutto in taste. Don't be afraid of the pepper jelly, it's actually quite mild. Then on to one of the best Iceberg Wedge salad's I've ever had. A word of caution, though. It's loaded with blue cheese, so if that's not your thing, skip it ... but it you do like it, you'll be very happy. The Lamb Burger "sliders" were excellent too, and not as gamey as you would expect. They are served with a mix of mint leaves, cilantro, and a light dressing. DON'T IGNORE IT AS GARNISH! That mix brought it all together. For our main course, I was told I should order the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and I am glad I did. The meat was tender as could be, and topped with the "hot" barbecue sauce, I was in a near euphoric state. the Butter Lettuce salad that came with it was refreshing, especially with the vinaigrette dressing to help break down the food. We also had the Fried Chicken, and this was some of the best I've had. It was not super crispy, as I usually like, but simply seasoned, and just crisp enough. I was able to snag a piece while my friend wasn't looking. Served with Collard Greens, which I passed on, and Garlic Mashed Potato, it was a very good meal. To top that off, we HAD to have Macaroni and Cheese, and their beans. Those that know me know I don't do beans. However, they were said to be top notch, and be sure to add the Pepper Vinegar they put on your table. NOW ... on to the Mac and Cheese. This may be my favorite mac and cheese YET. Creamy and Cheesy, with a very nice crust of crunchy goodness, don't skip this. GET IT. Your cholesterol count may haunt you, but your mouth will be so happy. Because we ... I mean I .. I could not pass up the Apple Pie. You shouldn't either. Even my friend who does not do cooked apples was digging in. Served with some very good vanilla ice cream and caramel. Just make sure you order it WARM. Room temp pie is just wrong. Service was top notch, and our server remembered everything we ordered without having to write anything down. And she knew all the specials without a cheat sheet. Yes, it may be cramped, as many of you noted, but it was at Noon on a rainy Sunday, so it wasn't bad. Location is odd, in a strip mall, and you will easily miss it. Just look for Target, and it's right across from there. You won't be disappointed. Side note, there's a Sonic on the way in American Canyon. Next time I want to try the ribs and fries. Everybody seemed to order them, so they must be good. Adding to my Mac and Cheese quest, this place has a five star rating for that cheesy dish.

On my last visit, we waited to be seated for an early dinner, and were pretty much the only people there. We got an outdoor table after a few minutes, then had to wait (and wait) as we watched the hostess and waitstaff fawn over the owner and his guests who were promptly seated and served. This would be less of an issue, if it weren't the second time I have been shorted service here in favor of the owner and his guests. Still waiting, we perused the menu, and were finally able to order our drinks and an appetizer from an arrogant and surly waiter. When our meals finally arrived, the fried chicken was cold, and the other dishes were, at best, lukewarm. I've had their food on a good day (only once out of the four times I've dined here), so I know it can be good, but with the kind of service and hit-or-miss quality I've experienced, I'd rather make the drive up-valley to Calistoga for Buster's BBQ.
(2)Miki S.
Good, simple, fresh. Great service.

Best BBQ this side of the Mississippi
(5)Cliff N.
QURIOUS about the Q?! I went there when they first opened after seeing the big silver Q and being a BBQ luvr, I was hopeful. So, it's swanky inside, Uknow - REAL cloth table cloths and napkins here, nice lighting, comfortable booths, not a fan of the chairs though. I hadn't had Hush Puppies since my last time down South, the BBQ Chicken was great, the collard greens with bacon and garlic was awesome, she had the pork chop which was exceptionally juicy. I asked the waiter if the BBQ style was Kentucky or Tennessee and the waiter said with the surprise "let me get the Chef"! The Chef came out and I found out that he's from near Kentucky, which explained the nice smokey "Memphis style" flavor (not Texas tangy) and he was the Chef at the very modern W Hotel in SF. Well, seeing that the World BBQ cook off is in Owensboro, KY, you will find his BBQ very accurate, and tender- tasty. OK-OK-OK, so to warn you, while the service is good most of the time, it can be SLOW to get seated and you may have to wait for your entree longer than typical, but this wait is hit and miss and seems to happen if they are real busy of course. So make reservations or show up not starving! Have the Key Lime pie, it's tart, tangy, fresh and sinfully gud. Great place for a Date if you have no place to be Late. Caveats: 1) Yes, it's patio is adjacent to the Whole Foods/Copperfields parking lot-but they did they best they can do for the space and when it's a hot summer day, it's so nice to sit out in the breeze- though the patio does seem at odds with the upscale decor! 2) Yes, it's expensive for BBQ- but the menu has much more than Q-thier fish and seafood is very good, and from what I hear-they do buy very high quality sources for all their food, that's why their butter is so damn tantalizingly tasty! Barber's Q is unique, I've been there a few times, the food is always good, the price high, sometimes had to wait, but it is as close to Memphis I've tasted in the North Bay. Caveat Emptor!

I usually write a review in 3 cases: 1) Extremely poor place 2) Extremely awesome place 3) I go to a place with the intention of writing a review afterwards. My friend and I went to BarBersQ with the intention of writing a review. I had spent most of Sunday in the Napa Valley area, and of course had heard about all the great restaurants offering new and traditional American cuisine in the area. Perhaps, I had set my expectation unrealistically high for this place. Ambient- BarBersQ has a post modern look and feel to it. There is lots of artistic black and white photos on the back wall. It is a fitting place for Napa, but there is a mismatch between the feeling you get from the ambient and supposedly the southern style Barbecue food. Even its post modernistic-look attempt at sophistication comes across as mere imitation of a sophisticated NY or SF restaurant. What did not help the ambient was the terrible music played loudly over the speaker! I am not sure what kind of music was being played, it was a cross of blues and bad Rock & Roll, and it was more annoying than interesting. Service & Food-We ordered the Pecan-Pear spinach salad as a starter. The salad was well prepared, with just the right amount of vinaigrette-based sauce, but certainly over-priced at close to 10 dollars. The salad arrived fairly quickly, but then it took a good 25 minutes or so for the entrees to get to our table. For food, we ordered the beef briskete, and the Baby back Ribs/Southern style fried chicken combo. First, let's talk about the good, the Southern style fried chicken was well seasoned and just lightly battered. It tasted great, and very succulent. Now the bad/average: everything else other than the chicken. The baby back Ribs were over sauced, and not just your good ol ' southern sauce, but a heavy tomato based sauce where flavors of tomato completely dominated any dry rubs that was on the meat. The over saucing was I guess balanced with the total lack of seasoning on the beef briskete. Plain and simple, the beef briskete was completely plain and simple, even the salt had to be added. Now, the servers provided us with an array of sauces, but guess what? All the sauces were just tomato paste, mixed with some degree of vinegar and varying concentration of chili/paprika to provide some heat, but the tomato dominated. Here is how I would describe it, putting even a small amount of sauce on the beef briskete, I felt not as if I was eating beef with sauce, but eating fresh tomato with a side of beef. The servers were average, just chugging along. It was Sunday evening, and you know I would not blame them. If I had to listen to that terrible music over the loud speaker all afternoon, I probably would want the day to end ASAP. I still have not found a decent barbecue place here on the West Coast. It is my white whale that I am chasing, and just can't find it. BarBersQ is an average place, and I would not go there again. I would recommend it only if there are no other options available...

The fried chicken IS as good as everyone says it is! OMG! Even the breast meat was tender and tasty! Also garlic mashies also fabulously salty, perfectly garlicky and creamy. Greens a little acidic. Fries are think, crisp and nicely salted. Cornbread had a nice corn-y chew to it. Yummy meal! I'm totally going back again!

I went to this place really hoping it was going to be great. It got written up in Sunset magazine after all. Well we went and tried and I will never be back. We ordered the rock shrimp hush puppies and I will admit those were amazing. Then we decided to split the bar b q platter for two, it was awful. The pulled pork was like shreds of dried out pork that they put sauce on. The chicken was so dry it had to be doused in sauce to get it down. The sausage looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hrs it was so shriveled up and dry. The only thing on the plate that was somewhat good were the fried onions on the brisket. The Cole slaw really had an out of the bag taste. I am guessing they just dump bottled dressing on shredded cabbage and call it a day. I did tell the waitress that our food was almost inedible and dried out and her reply was that's how it always is. I don't think so. Next time I want real bar b q I will go back to Vallejo to Gracie's it is much better, not so stuffy and it is really bar b q. Overall nice decor lousy food and servers that just don't care. Don't waste your money on this place go to the Red rock Cafe if you want real Bar B Q and you have to stay in Napa.
(1)Summer N.
My bf & I went there for lunch after a relaxing weekend in Napa. And it was the icing on the cake!!! He ordered the brisket sandwich, I had the Q combo plate with chicken and ribs and we shared an order of mac & cheese. First off, the brisket sandwich was very good. I tend to stay away from brisket b/c it usually very dry, but this brisket was very moist & more importantly..flavored and seasoned well! The ribs were very good as well, not as tender as I expected, but very good meat. The bbq sauce they provide was very tasty as well. But i think the best part of the meal was the mac & cheese. SOOOOO good! Its made from a combo of white cheddar cheese and a local gruyere-type cheese. So creamy but not too heavy. YUM! I can't wait until our next trip up there, we're definitely going again!!
(4)Elizabeth M.
I went when they first opened. I am a fan of the BBQ and of pulled pork sandwiches. The atmosphere is really nice and a definite gem to have in the valley. The food was pricey and the service was okay. My pulled pork sandwich was good though I didn't care for the slaw on it. We go to the Rib Cook Off in Sparks, NV where there are 25 different kinds of ribs to taste and had high hopes for some good ribs so close to home. My husband orderd the ribs and was not impressed. I hope to go again someday and give it another shot.
(3)Christine C.
I came here for dinner with my family of 4 and we were seated immediately. Friendly and quick service. We shared the BBQ for 2 (or whatever it's called), a side of mac n cheese, and a wedge salad. The meat was just okay. It wasn't nasty, I've just had much better. I can say that the brisket was definitely my favorite out of everything we ordered. The wedge salad was also pretty good. The mac n cheese looked a lot better than it tasted. It was pretty pricey too. $6-$7 for a tiny slice of pecan pie...I regret getting that.

Super attentive service, great food (I didn't say healthy). We were in a rush to catch the next film since we were up there for the film festival, and made reservations ahead. Seated promptly and ordered food as soon as we sat down. The waiter said he would rush the order (Q Combo), then came back to grab drinks order about 5-10 minutes later. The food arrived seconds BEFORE the drinks order came, and it wasn't because the latter was slow. Q combo for two, with coleslaw and extra side of brussel sprouts. BBQ ribs slightly burnt, sadly, sausage deliciousness, pull pork amazing, beef brisket drools, chicken moist and juicy (yes, even with its low fat content). Heart attack on a platter. Coleslaw was great, but the brussel sprouts make you wish your mother came here for lessons when you were a kid. Great experience!

Southern fried chicken, only on sundays. Great wine list (includes Molnar Family Winery)
(4)Wakaknee J.
We went here on a Sunday because we wanted to try their Fried Chicken and BBQ. We had a glass of red Zin, a lemonade, Fried green tomato as an appetizer, Fried chicken entree, Baby Back Rib & brisket combo, and a side of cornbread (entrees didn't come with cornbread or bread). The check came out to be $75 including tax & tip. Mashed potatoes that came with Fried chicken entree was the best of all. Everything else needed a little more something... Fried chicken could have been crispier, BBQs could have been a little more moist and juicier (they were too dry in our opinion). With $75, I expected much better food be served since I know I can go to other BBQ places and spend $30 and have much better BBQ. (I know at least 2 of them that I like...)
(3)Alyssa W.
I really thought this place was overrated...the Beau and I both agreed that it was not top 100 material. ribs - over cooked and dry. beans and ham hocks - nothing special. mac 'n cheese - dry on top, soupy on the bottom corn bread - above average. coleslaw - bland The highlight was the pulled pork - excellent! would go back for a pulled pork sandwich and skip the rest.

Amazing dinner tonight! The fish and chips and wedge salad were the best I have ever had...ambiance was great...the service exceptional...can't wait for next time!

Leave it to Napa to take southern bar-b-que, give it a california twist, and class it up. I love the food here but the weird atmosphere of the dining area, does take away from the experience a bit. The prices are on the low side of what you expect for a good restaurant in Napa.

Came here the other day for early dinner after hitting couple of wineries. I've heard mixed reviews before coming here, figured I check it out for myself. Started with Grilled West Coast Oysters, not bad, but certainly had better. Nothing to write home about. Painted Hills Chipotle-Braised Short Rib Sandwich was my entree choice, asked for an extra side of horseradish sauce, which they happily provided. Decent sandwich that works for filling empty stomach, but beyond that, nothing memorable. Interesting restaurant decor on it's own, but I find it very odd when considering it's a BBQ joint, doesn't mesh with the food theme. Passable food, but won't be back anytime soon.

They might've been a solid 3 if it weren't for the price. We got the cheese and jalapeno hush puppies to qwell our growling stomachs from a LONG travel day. They were flavorful but a little dry. I got the combo with pulled pork and I think brisket. The hubby got a combo with ribs and chicken. It was all pretty average fare. Nothing about the way it was cooked or the sauces wowed us even though we were so hungry anything would've taste good. We both got water to drink and the bill was $66 plus tip. I know we're in Napa and we should expect some gouging here and there but this place is in a shopping plaza so there's not a view you're paying for or anything like that so the rating blurb says it all for us...meh, I've experienced better. We both agreed we wouldn't go back or recommend to others. Plenty of other places to go for better and cheaper.

This isn't your typical barbeque joint. It's in Napa after all, so it had to be redefined. First, BarbersQ isn't a joint. Rather it is a sleek, clean place plopped down in the middle, of all places, a shopping mall. The host checks up on everyone regularly and the servers are young and willing. What really sets the place apart, however, is that they use top-notch ingredients and there is a chef is the kitchen. How do I know? Well, start with the iceberg lettuce wedge that comes with bacon, cherry tomatoes, slivers of radish and blue cheese dressing. This isn't the gloppy mess you find everywhere. Rather the plate is perfectly balanced. The lettuce, tomatoes and radish are fresh. The bacom crisp. And there is just the right amount of dressing. Or consider the gumbo. Again not an overcooked mess of whatnot. Rather hot, thick broth has been poured over shrimp, crab, and rice to produce a tasty plate of, get this a a barbeque restaurant, well-prepared food. A combo of baby back ribs and beef brisket comes with cole slaw and some onion rings. The ribs and brisket are tender and cooked just to the point where they retain their texture and identity. The meats were a bit bland but largely fat free. I would have liked the sauces served on the side to have had a bit more zip but otherwise this was good food. There are high chairs for kids and tables set out front so the kids can wander into traffic. All in all a relatively inexpensive way to get the Napa experience.

Meat was excellent as was corn bread. Other sides left something to be desired. Location in a strip mall was off-putting. Not the ambiance/atmosphere you want from a nice/elegant restaurant. When the staff began cleaning the windows at about 6pm with harsh chemicals while we ate dinner, I was shocked. The restaurant had maybe 3 tables full including us--but cleaning products with dinner??? Made what would have been a nice meal a negative experience.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this place. I moved out of napa and make sure to visit this place every time i come home. Their pulled pork sandwiches are delicious and they come with a really good spinach salad. The beef brisket is also pretty amazing and its topped with fried onion strings. I have not had a better tasting Beef brisket and am always disappointed when i do try others ha. give this place a shot if you're looking for some good pulled pork or beef brisket sandwiches. the staffs really great and attentive and its reasonably priced.

Evidently, I started this review last April -- here's what I have so far: Hush puppies Chicken Sauces Seraphin Baby Back Ribs Key Lime Pie Table malarky Portly guy with big stomach 1. Hush puppies. We started with them. I remember them almost a year and a half later. They were... awesome. I ate them. With my face. 2. Chicken. Crisp on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. 3. Sauces. A selection! Why did I make this list? 4. Seraphin. Our server's name. Seriously. A dude. SERAPHIN. This wasn't in LA, or even in the city. Hippies, man. 5. Baby Back Ribs. I want my baby back. I think this is what my husband ordered. I just asked him how they were. He looked at me like I was crazy. "Remember that time we went to that BBQ place at that shopping center in Napa like forever ago?" "What?" "Never mind. Ooh, airplane!" 6. Key lime pie. Apparently they have it. Score! 7. Table malarky. I honestly do NOT know what this is all about. They probably gave us a shitty table. We look like dirtbags most of the time, so I'm not used to getting A+ service. It's cool. 8. Portly guy with big stomach. Okay, THIS I remember. This poor guy was seated on the outside of the table, in the busiest walkway of the place. He looked totally uncomfortable the entire time and probably had a long horizontal bruise across his rib cage by the end of his meal. We are fat americans, people! Plan your seating area accordingly, or be prepared to walk the long way around. You can't serve pulled pork and fried lardballs and serve up a healthy dose of fat shame at the same time, assholes. Despite that last bit, I remember enjoying the meal quite a bit. It's not the best barbecue in the world, but it does the job. I LIKE FOOD.
(4)Denice L.
We catered from them for our wedding rehearsal dinner. They delivered to Sonoma. Bonus points right there. Came up with an awesome meal. Pulled pork, ribs, brisket, cornbread w/ honey butter, cobb salad, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Food was delicious and LARGE portions! Though, the pans don't look that large, it was like Mary Poppins carpet bag where it was endless amounts of meat! We had so much leftover. Gene, the guy who helped us with the order, delivered it himself! Great service, great food!
(5)Jenny T.
LOVE this place!!! We have been there quite a few times, usually for lunch when we head over to Napa for some wine tasting. The bbq pull pork sandwich never disappoints and the mac and cheese there are to die for! We always order that every time we head over. We like their ribs too, and those are also very tasty. they have a few different types of bbq sauce available for you, ranging from mild to hot. The butter lettuce salad is also a honorable mention, altho if you order the pull pork sandwich, it comes along on the side. I also had one of the best pecan pies over there, a little bit pricey (~$10) but good. Service was good, but not great. Could be slow at times, even when the place isn't so crowded, but we usually don't mind it; it gives us a chance to just sit and relax and enjoy the food!

This is not your typical barbeque place. It has the feel of an upscale restaurant with soothing music playing in the background. The service was good overall. The mini lamb burgers were juicy and full of flavor. I definitely recommend it. The Q combo with ribs and pulled pork was decent. You get to pick two items from chicken, brisket, sausage, ribs, and pulled pork. The ribs weren't as tender as I hoped for. However, they had nice smoky flavor. Love the sauce. Perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess.
(3)Ben P.
Some of the very best BBQ in the Bay Area! I wish they had a SF location. Warning to winos: this place will screw up your sense of taste for the rest of the day, so it's not an ideal wine tour stop, sad to say. The ribs were awesome, juicy, and tender. The brisket could be cut with a spoon. The corn bread was delicious. The slaw was excellent, and I'm a harsh judge of slaw. It is a bit disorienting to eat BBQ in such a nice and upscale environment. I'm used to BBQ joints featuring picnic tables (indoors) and street-salvage chairs. This place has table cloths and everything! I visited with 2 Southerners, and they both gave this place their blessing. That's gotta be the gold standard for a BBQ joint: if the Rebs like it, it must be good.
(5)Colin M.
As a dedicated Everett and Jones fan, I will say I think this is even better. See, I don't elaborate. What is there to elaborate about. It's bbq, you know what you're getting. It's either just ok, or great. This is great.
(5)Joanna H.
We got a sample platter. It was a ton of food, and my husband and I are not light eaters. Will definitely visit here again when we are in Napa.
(4)Tso N.
Sad to say but I had my heart set on getting the mac n cheese with the fried chicken when I came for lunch on a Monday but apparently It's only served on Sundays. But I did enjoy the mac n cheese with their similarly made fried chicken breast sandwich. I'll be back to make a more thorough review.
(4)Aaron T.
Me and my wife shared the bbq for 2 and a side of cornbread. Very friendly host and waitress. Got seated right away with our reservation. This is a very cool place, does not look like a bbq place at all, much more modern. We both really enjoyed all the meats and the different sauces you could put on them. The cornbread also came with a honey butter that was delicious. The food was way more than we could eat, you could easily split this among 3 people. Sounds like this can be hit or miss from previous reviews, but was a homerun when we were there.
(5)Brian A.
A few VERY fatty slices of brisket and a hot link for 25 dollars. The flavors are good but the food is WAY over-priced, especially for a strip mall restaurant. Go into the Whole Foods and carry out cheaper and leaner.
(2)Fong L.
holy shit does this place rock. PORTERHOUSE PORK CHOP. Yeah you heard me. PORTERHOUSE PORK CHOP. SO FUCKING AWESOME. Perfectly brined/marinated. Perfectly grilled to medium/medium rare. nice smokiness too. PERFECT. I had the St Louis Ribs. PERFECT fall off the bone tender, and well smoked, with a MASSIVE mound of tasty cole slaw. ANd lots of great bbq sauce to go with it. I got the seasonal vegetable side dish, which was eggplant, zucchini, onions, and some other stuff--which was really like a ratatouille. Quite tasty really, and well sauteed. God this place was so good, and so well priced, that I'd take anyone here, despite the strip-mall it's in.

Okay, the end of the story is that dinner was great and I'd gladly go back. But it didn't start out that way. I'm pretty easy going about most things. I waited tables and worked in a restaurant and a when I was growing up so I get the hassle of a busy night. But I will not tolerate rudeness from the staff at any restaurant. We had a 7:00pm reservation for a Saturday night. It was raining and took us a bit longer to get there and find parking so we didn't walk in until 7:04pm. Not 7:40, 7:04. I told the young man at the host stand that we had a reservation for two and gave my name. He looked at the reservation list, glanced around the restaurant and said, "It's going to be about a half hour or so." No apology or explanation. "But we have a reservation" I said. "Well, you had it for seven o'clock. You weren't here so I gave your table away." "After four minutes?" "Yep," he says, "do you want to talk to a manager?" I was ready to go...I was pissed and would have been fine with a bowl of cereal, but someone needed to vent first. After waiting almost five minutes for the manager, she came out and was completely different. It was a very busy night and there was a party of twelve who were there to celebrate a birthday. They arrived early and just weren't leaving. Their reservations had been badly affected and she was very sorry. But she though there were a couple tables about to turn and she was pretty sure she'd be able to seat us in 10 or 15 minutes. I told her what we'd been told about losing our reservation. That hadn't happened though someone with a 6:45 had just been seated and she apologized for the way we'd been treated. We poked around the bookstore next door for a few minutes and then went back over to sit down. We had a table across from the bar and proceeded to enjoy some superb BBQ, California style. We had some great wine along with a spectacular mixed plate of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Delicious sides and a yummy dessert. Rough start but a great recovery and an unforgettable meal!

Great lamb sliders and super tasty mac and cheese; Bloomsberg spinach salad good but nothing special. Friend had BBQ pulled pork sandwich and said it was a bit dry :( The chili was really tangy but had nice beef chunks. Though still too tomato saucy. Overall, everyone was satisfied and filled up without breaking the bank :)

3.5 for their catering services: Presentation=not so great Plus they don't serve butter lettuce with the pulled pork or other sandwiches to go. Just loaded up with coleslaw & other greasy items. Which is fine, but I like to balance out my meals even when I'm bringing them to others. Would recommend using them as they are fast & will do smaller orders the day of in a timely fashion= big plus for people like me who wait until the last minute. My main qualm is the lack of diversity in their smaller catering menu. NEEDS MORE VEGGIE OPTIONS.

If you're looking for a traditional Barbecue spot, you know, the one with a brick BBQ pit with smoke stains on the walls and sweaty men slopping delicious BBQ sauce on meat with mops..the kind of place where your ribs come with 2 slices of white bread and some vinegar based slaw-- well kids, this ain't it, but it is good nonetheless. I'm not going to get into my BBQ pedigree here. Suffice it to say, I don't need to risk disappointment by eating ribs at a restaurant. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and the mac n cheese. Both were delicious and the portions were generous. I loved how the mac n cheese came in a small casserole dish. It was creamy and sinfully good! Wasn't a fan of the slaw that came with the sandwich. I recall the service being a bit slow, but they were extremely gracious and helpful. Next time I'm in Napa I'd definitely check it out again.
(4)Colby S.
As a former resident of Texas, let me say ... come get your Q on. And dog friendly. So double bonus.
(4)Teresa G.
Highly recommend the mac n cheese. It was warm goodness of cheese and cream, so yummy! Priced right too!
(4)Eric W.
Went with 7 adults & 3 kids. so we shared dishes. Very good....very good indeed. Had the ribs, with the two inclusive sides of beans and slaw. I got an extra side of mac n cheese . The ribs were perfect. They didn't fall off the bone. Most people think the perfect ribs are when the meat falls of the bone when eating them. Uh uh...this is not true, that's backyard style. The perfect rib is when you bite into it and your teeth indentation is in the meat and the meat stays on the bone. This is championship style. This is how BarBerQ's ribs are. The baked chicken was great. Cooked over Cherry wood with flavor to the bone. Didn't care to much for the cornbread and did not like the deviled eggs. The chicken wing appetizer was very good. I wanted more than one but didn't want to appear greedy. The appetizer portions were small but priced accordingly so I didn't mind too much. The greens were pretty good, The side dishes are enough for two so don't order too many because you will have too much food. Overall the portions of the food was generous, I left very content. The staff was friendly and attentive, beverages abundant and they offer free wifi. Look forward to going back.

My bro and I were invited out to dinner during our visit to Napa. Hmmm. Bar-B-Q. Sure we were up for it. Well, this was no BBQ. Just walked in to the decor, lighting, bluesy music and it took my breath away. We were seated right away. Our waitress was awesome. The menu ... wavered between 6 items. Couldn't decide until the waitress helped me narrow. It all looked too good. This is a FOODIE APPROVED restaurant. Hmmm. Wine? I said to my brother, "If you agree to drive, I agree to drink." I had a fabulous Zinfandel. Plentiful wine list. When I make it back to Napa ... this wonderful restaurant should be expecting to see me ... again and again!

We popped in here after a rare day in Napa (and lovely hospitality from Miner and Clos du Val). We were hungry and a Press Democrat review was still trapped in my phone, so we tracked it down and stopped in for an early dinner. This is barbecue, but it's not Memphis Minnie's or Johnson's (on San Bruno, SF). We're talking white table cloth (except they're more practical than that - it IS barbecue after all) BBQ with a charming wait staff and a refined if somewhat upscale potterybarn interior. Located in a strip mall, this place is a complete and pleasant surprise. They were completely gracious about opening the wine we brought and charged a minimal corkage fee, despite their extensive but not too marked up wine list. The food was incredible - a fine execution of barbecue. The sides were quite good. I'm a sucker for cornbread and BarbersQ delivered. I pined for more. Unfortunately, the dinner portions were too generous to try any of the desserts. Can't wait to go back!!
(5)AJ S.
Nice little place. I came here for my birthday. I expected something grander, but the food was good, the music was good, and the staff was pretty cool. What it didn't make up in atmosphere, it made up in other ways. Even my brother in law liked the food which made me very happy because he's very picky with food.
(4)Lea M.
The food is amazing here....my favorite is the vinegar chicken..it is amazing. The sevice is friendly and the management couldn't be nicer.
(5)John M.
Having sampled the barbecue at their catering stand at a Robert Mondavi summer concert, I was looking forward to a whole sit-down meal here. Unfortunately, we caught them on an off day -- middle of a Sunday afternoon on a three-day weekend -- and suffered from some undue and persistent confusion over who was looking after our table. The menu here is a hit parade of favorites from the mid-South, reflecting the chef's roots. We focused on the barbecue. Maybe it's my roots showing, but I found the pulled pork much better than the ribs, chicken, sausage and brisket adorning the generous platter for two. Not to be factored out is that the wine selection is a whole lot finer than what you'd likely get in Carolina, or in the dumpy windowless bbq mecca in my own Arkansas hometown. As for dessert, I think my mom makes better pie. But she's 2200 miles away. So I still might swing by here when I want something casual and comfortable after an afternoon sampling Napa's more pretentious offerings.
(2)Andrea D.
Being a Carolina transplant to the Bay area, this may be the most qualified I have ever been for writing a review on Yelp. Along with most of the BBQ (this is a food, y'all, not a cooking utensil!) places in CA, BarbersQ claims to have NC style BBQ. We are prepared to once again be grossly dissapointed by this claim, but found the exact opposite. These guys really know what they are doing with both the meat and the sauce. You see, in the Carolinas, this is a religion and you will be persecuted if you get it wrong. Congratulations, BarBersQ, you need not worry! Pulled pork was actually pulled! And the other meats and sides were awesome as well. Would be home away from home if we lived just a little closer!
(4)Monica L.
There is no "Ike" sweating over the pit but, there is Groth Sauvignon Blanc. Then again, it is in a strip mall. Our family headed up to Lake Berryessa to cheer my youngest brother on in his first triathlon. Go Cong! We decided the best way to celebrate my brother's athletic triumph was to pig out on fried chicken (special on Sunday!), ribs, baked beans and mac and cheese. My father is the ultimate anti-foodie, preferring Popeye's to organic buttermilk fried chicken. He can't stand eating anything that might be construed as non-toxic. So obviously, sharing a meal with him can be challenging to a locavore foodie like myself. But I endure... The ribs were flavorful, tender and addictive. I didn't get a chance to sample the fried chicken because my brother hoarded it all for himself (so my guess is that it was finger lickin' good). Which was fine with me because I was more than content to feast on the collard greens, mac and cheese, baked beans and pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork benefits from a generous sprinkling of spicy vinegar to make the flavors pop. I did think that the "hot" BBQ sauce required a bit more heat. I would classify that as "mild". It barely registered a tingle on my tongue. We ordered the Qlime pie and it had the most deliciously thick graham cracker crust. The strawberry shortcake was delightful mainly because it is the height of strawberry season. So the verdict is, if you find yourself in Napa and can't try Ubuntu because of a carnivorous tyrant of a father, give BarbersQ a try. You will both be satisfied.
(4)Steve N.
We have been here twice. Nice ambiance. Food is pretty good, staff however, is less than attentive and easily distracted. Maybe just need more experience or commitment?
(3)Carl F.
The first evening I came here, I arrived at 7:45 pm, and when I finally located the hostess, I realized her annoyed look was because they stop serving at 8. I asked for a table outside which also seemed to irritate her and after the cold chill I left deciding that maybe It's not meant to be. On my last evening in Napa, I decided to give it another try and arrived at 7. The friendly waitress who is a Napa native told me that everything closes early in Napa since people are generally wiped out by all the wine tasting. She recommended a local beer which was delicious. I ordered the brisket also wonderful. Try all the sauces from mild to hot since they are also very tasty.
(4)Kristi K.
It hit 102 degrees in the valley the day of our reservation and it just so happened that the power went out in the shopping center where the restaurant was located. That being the case, they were forced to offer a limited menu but things worked out well. We ordered a rack of baby back ribs with a side of collard greens and I was delighted to find the meat was tender with a distinct smoky flavor. And the barbeque sauce took the dish up a notch. I'm not typically a BBQ person but this place could make a convert out of anyone. And another thing to note, the servers were very down-to-earth and personable, making the atmosphere very relaxing and comfortable.
(4)Treana H.
My friend and I went here as part of our west coast road trip for a quick lunch before heading to the wineries. The upscale BBQ is laid back... oxymoron, I know. But the pulled pork is delicious and the side salad that comes with it is incredible. Hoping it is still around for my next trip to Napa (that might be in about 10 years).
(4)Mark D.
Solid restaurant. The Smoked Chicken Sandwich had some kind of bleu cheese flavor to it that went amazingly well with the rest of the sandwich.
(5)Jen H.
Overall: Food is decent, service is poor. Came on a Saturday night with the family based on yelp reviews. We made reservations beforehand (based on the crowd, good thing we did!) and were seated on time. Random retail plaza but you can recognize the restaurant's big "Q" sign... The decor is nice... lots of big windows, though it got pretty dark once the sun set the food was good (though not mind-blowing, so i've already forgotten what i ate); the cornbread was tasty the experience was overshadowed, though, by deficiencies of service by two levels. Upon ordering a beer, we were told there were no chilled glasses to serve it in. I get that this is napa, but seriously? beer in a warm glass? it would only have taken a moment for our server to chill a glass, but whatever secondly, the management: a busboy drops a glass bottle of ketchup and it spills on my brother's shoes. The tables are kind of close together, so we move over one table to give them room to clean up. The teenaged-looking busboy scrambles to clean up and is joined eventually by by a manager... but the manager fails to apologize for the accident even after the busboy pointed out the ketchup on my brother's shoes accidents will happen, but when you unexpectedly get condiments dumped on you... an apology would be nice. (dessert on the house would be even nicer!)

I am from Kansas and was raised on KC BBQ, so my standards for this kind of fare are incredibly high. The place is simply decorated and much cleaner than any respectable BBQ place in KC. The fact that it's in a strip mall should not dissuade you from checking it out. We ordered the spicy chicken wings and a couple of nice salads. The 1/2 wedge was delicious with a nice creamy blue cheese and radishes. My husband had some nice simple mixed greens. Both were quite good and very fresh. The chicken wings were honey sweet and nicely spicy. The skin had a lovely crispness from being cooked in the smoker. Yet, the interior was juicy and wonderful. These should be on the regular menu. I LOVED them! We split a platter of baby back ribs, smoked sausage, pulled pork and beef brisket. The ribs were pretty good, but my husband makes better ones when he has the time and inclination. The pulled pork was my favorite from the platter. It tasted as if it had been brined and then smoked. It had an excellent flavor that grew more delicious with each chew. The brisket was tender, but lacked in flavor for me. Plus, they slathered it with barbecue sauce. I would rather try it plain and add my own sauce. The sausage was a bit on the dry side. Nothing special. The service was friendly and efficient. They offer only wine and beer, but the selection is nice and goes well with the BBQ. The desserts looked amazing, but we had no more room in our bellies and a long drive back to SF ahead of us. Next time we're in Napa, I will check it out again. Perfect for before or after a Target run.

I went to BarBer'sQ this past July to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The place is very nice with a modern decor. I specially liked the open feel and fresh air while sitting inside. I'm not a wine buff, but I really enjoyed the pinot grigio that the server suggested. My boyfriend was truly happy with his seafood meal. I was not impressed with mine. I am vegetarian so I guess I should not expect much from a place called BBQ. I ended up ordering some boring cobb salad without the meat. The ambience and service was great. Not a good option for vegetarians.
(3)ClosetDork ..
This place reminds me of Counter Burger in Palo Alto for some reason. Must've been the metal chair and the modern, clean look. Decent short rib sandwich with SUPER STRONG horseradish sauce and soft tasty bun. Thing is - hand cut chips is a gross misrepresentation... they're in fact the frozen variety not unlike ones found in McDonald's. Service is 10 out of 10 - fast, friendly and efficient. The bbq, though, would not be something that I'd look back to in the future and drool over. Maybe I just have a cheap taste. And a blunt palate. But I'll go to Armadillo Willy's any day.
(3)Margaret S.
Very expensive and not at all southern atmosphere. I felt like I was sitting in a restoration hardware eating ribs and fried chicken, didn't feel right! I couldn't believe the ribs had liquid smoke on them. I do not think that they had even seen a smoker. I am from Memphis and the BBQ sauce was more Carolina or Kentucky or even Texas style and I was hoping for a little reminder of home. The service was nice! They do have Alan Benton ham however, it was put on a slicer and sliced like prosciutto, not southern ham. So, if you want a white table cloth rest. with decent overpriced food than you have come to the right place!
(2)Ricote F.
ok the good news- great wine list. Bad the downside here is that the food is just soso, cleaned up white boys BBQ nothing is in the style of Cue that I like and the sauces were hyper sweet. Napa, often suffers from mediocre and while this isnt that level at all it isnt all it could be... I want my Cue down and dirty.
(3)Mimi C.
We went to this place last night after reading some decent reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. We had the half rack of ribs which was completely dry...close to a jerky taste. My husband had the brisket and it was full of fat (not that that's bad but this was really bad amounts). Service is great which is why they are getting 3 stars. They were friendly and helpful. Totally agree there is a complete disconnect between the restaurant menu and the decor. But then again this is Napa Valley which also explains the prices.

OMG!!!! The FOOD is GREAT!!!!! We found this restaurant using the Open Table app. We had never heard of this place but we were on vacation looking for a little adventure in our dining experience. The app says this restaurant is located in a strip mall behind Target. Actually this place has a great location with plenty of parking. Seating both inside and outside, we chose to eat inside to enjoy our meal in the comfort of air conditioning. Am In New York or Atlanta????? The decor was definitely New Age New York yet comforable and the food came straight from the South. We ordered the sampler tray of chicken, beef brisket, fall of the bone pork ribs, and sausage for two which had more bar-b-que meat then we could eat eat. Collard Greens made with Ham Hocks, unsweeten cornbread, mac and cheese to die for!!!!!!!!!!! Our hostess, Megan, was extremely personable and attentive and made our first time dining at BarBersQ a wonderrful experience. If you like Bar-b-que this is the place!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q ME, over and over again please! Gorgeous space in an unassuming plaza. Two words: casual elegance. Guys, this place is a no brainer for a date...wonderful ambiance and amazing BBQ, you're sure to win major bonus points....good for you, good for her. Great for small groups as well. Waves of happiness come over me as I picture myself sitting at the bar with a bottle of my fave, Candela Pinot and a short rib sammie... and the lamb burger sliders....and the seasonal grattan...ok...throw in some ribs....OH and the oysters with jalapeno mignonette...need I say more?
(5)Clay N.
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. I am a big BBQ fan; after spending some time chowing really stellar in the East Bay (for instance, down in South Berkeley in the summer, dudes will push their smokers out to the corner and sell some great ribs!) this is one of the better places I have eaten. Great fun, it is just amazing food. Make sure to get the biscuits with the pepper jelly. The GMs mom makes the jelly every year and sends it up from (I believe) North Carolina. They ran out last year, but the replacement was still quite stellar.
(5)M F.
Consistently good food (Taste of the Q for 2 is a favorite), impeccable service and friendly staff (Anne-Marie and Robert always make us feel at home.) The the indoor-outdoor feel of the place is elegant without sacrificing comfort and they can easily accommodate during rain or shine. To-go orders are really convenient when you can't dine in.
(5)Natalie W.
I really haven't had ANYTHING that I dislike here. The mini Lamb Burgers are fantastic. So is the pulled pork sandwich.
(4)Osanna A.
We went into this place "blind" - my friend found it online. So, we were a little concerned about the location - strip mall? really?! But, as soon as we walked, we knew it was going to be a-ok. The food is goooood! The ribs and mac and cheese are a must! What's more, the 4 of us got out of there for ~$45 each with a good bottle of wine. That's a steal in Napa for a good meal. The place is not fancy, but perfectly cosy atmosphere for a nice casual meal.

We went to dinner there a few weeks after they opened. We were out and about and saw that they were open. The interior is really cool, very hip dark wood, aluminum chairs, banquets, white walls, front windows that open to the parking lot (don't go for the view). The servers are all dressed in Converse, white shirts, etc. It felt like a higher brow Taylor's Refresher (but the menu at Taylor's is better) mixed with Rutherford Grill. I think that we may have not had a great waiter. He seemed to not know the menu, forgot that I had requested a soda. My wine tasted like it had been a little too warm (I ordered a Zin) and started to oxidize. I drank half of it, which is a bummer at $12 per glass. I had the BBQ pork sandwich, beans & fries. We shared a ice cream sandwich for dessert. The beans were undercooked, very al dente for a bbq bean. The BBQ pork was ok. They have sauces on the table and none of them are marked, so I had to ask the waiter. He wasn't quite convinced he knew what they were. I tried them and thought that the vinaigrette was not a big add to the pulled pork like he thought it might be. I mixed the sweet & the hot bbq sauce for the fries and that was the best I found. So, I'm sure they'll work the kinks out. Good idea and a much needed menu in Napa. Good luck finding parking when the Whole Foods goes in.

Okay, the food here is mighty tasty.... The Q in particular is very, very good.... loved the brisket , slaw and the mac n cheese is to die for (did not try the pie as I was just full, but sounds like I should have). The skirt steak was just okay....it came out cold and had to have them reheat it, but the accompanying fries were yummy! The place is nice... but the tables are cramped and sitting with my back to the bar I was continously bumped by servers or people passing by. I know these guys are popular, but it would be nice not to have to hear both dinner conversations on each side of you as you eat.... I would reduce the # of tables if at all possible to give people some breathing and eating room. Now, if the place serves good food, why the 3 stars.... whatever the issue was, maybe its because they had 4-5 large parties going, the service was just not good..... Our server was nice and friendly, but the timing was just off, off, off... we ordered drinks and then sat for 15 minutes while we waited for them... odd.... I ordered another glass of wine when my entree arrived and that got lost in translation somewhere and I never got it, but a shared salad to start showed up in about 3 minutes.... it was hard to pace things and therefore was a bit odd..... Also, being so close to other tables, I got to savor the slurred ramblings of the man at the next table who clearly had too much wine with dinner. :-) Last, and one thing I am not, is cheap, I found the wine prices a bit high.... I eat in Napa frequently and I thought the range of prices went into the higher range, which when you are serving bbq along with high end menu items does not make all that much sense to me.

Based on the Origin of the Name "barbers Q", i was either expecting to have a clean shave & a good haircut or a great BBq treat. i got the latter! i also was expecting big wooden picnic bench tables and limited concoction of drinks from sodas to a few local beers but NO, its a pretty classy and aply appointed resto. Nice high well lit ceilings, well planned indoor seating and plenty of outdoor patio seating. I need to also mention a comprehensive wine list that goes well w/ any bbq or dish you may have in mind. Good variety of Bbq in their menu and alot of other specialties like chops, burgers, salads and much more. Food was pretty good and i would like to comeback and try other specialties. Expect to shell out about $10 - $33/p overall a pretty good place to stop by before heading to the vineyards. I give it a 3.5stars bbq = 4.0, ambiance = 3.5, service = 3.5 & parking = 4.0

We meet the owner at one of the wineries, and he set up reservations for us on the spot. The meal was awesome. We had the stuffed squach and grilled oysters for apps and the vignor chicken for dinner. The chicken takes awhile to cook, but well worth the wait. I can't wait to hit this spot again next time were in town.

Stopped by yesterday for am early dinner and had ribs (yum) and sides, plus some seasonal corn with spices and heirloom tomatoes. Killer. Very attentive service and I didn't feel rushed at all. I'm not sure why the location matters-so many seem to be bothered by the shopping center but if you understand the zoning in Napa, you can't just plunk a restaurant anywhere. There is very tight ag zoning and property is expensive... And to the person who complained about the oysters..really? You come to Napa and need to have oysters?? There is a Hog Island Oyster branch at the Oxbow Market... Prices are what I would expect from a barbecue place-good barbecue is labor intensive. and they are in line with Busters in Calistoga. Love this place, I am a regular...

HANDS DOWN THE SLOWEST SERVICE EVER! The food is fantastic but i do not recommend coming here if your on any sort of time limit. We got there and asked for a table and waited over 10 minutes just to be seated. We did not get our drinks until 48 minutes after we sat down, and by the time we got our food we had literally 6 minutes to eat it! I had 1 hour and 15 mins for my lunch break, and lunch here took every last second of it! I was even late getting back to work :-(

The pulled pork sandwiches are great. They are a bit on the greasy side so don't plan to do any dieting here, but they taste great.
(4)Nana S.
this place rocks! bbq heaven. we stopped here on our drive up to wine tasting and it really hit the spot. we started with the hush puppies, a special for that day...the BEST HUSH PUPPIES i've ever had. i would've eaten another plate of those and been happy. but we moved on to what they're known for...the bbq. we had the combo plate so we could taste a little bit of everything...baby back ribs, beef brisket, and pulled pork. the ribs were outstanding and the best out of the three meats. the cornbread and collard greens were also excellent. i will definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

For my 100th review (fireworks here) I found something near and dear to my heart to talk about. BBQ. I like to fancy myself as BBQ kind of guy. I have been looking for some good Q in California for a quite a while, and BarbersQ is one of the best I have found so far. First time in so we ordered the Taste of the Q for 2: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage. Everything was good. All the meats were really tender. The pulled pork was very moist as was the brisket. The sausage was amazingly good, one of my favorites along with the ribs. I tend to think that any BBQ place worth their mettle should serve spare ribs. Here they serve baby backs, which was a little disappointing, but they were still very good. So much meat we have enough left for a couple of sandwiches tomorrow. (edit) I was just reminded that they charged us $2.50 for a hamburger bun when we asked for some bread. What kind of BBQ place serves a giant platter of meat without some bread to make a little sandwich or sop up some juices and sauce? That is a pretty fundamental flaw in my book. I'm knocking them down a star for that. (edit done) I wasn't too wild about the sauces. The mild and the vinegar based were lacking backbone and zing. The hot sauce was decent. When the meat is good you don't need much in the way of sauce, so I went au naturale (sauceless that is) for a good part of the meal. I did find the ambiance a little unsettling. Dressed up in all my wine sipping finery, fancy tables and chairs, pretty pictures on the wall. This isn't your typical BBQ pit. I could get used to it I guess. I'll be back and I know exactly what I'm getting, Q combo, sausage and ribs.

I give this place an easy five stars. I would like to visit this place again sometime to be sure it can hold up five stars. Plus the food was faboulas. The pulled pork was on point along with the greens. I also tried the brisket sandwich which melted through my tastebuds. The service was great with great food is five star talent.

We always enjoy delicious food here. And, the patio is dog friendly!

amazing! Great food, great service! Highly recommended!

I really do not like this place. The seating indoors is so unbelievable cramped, you literally will be rubbing yourself in the next tables food while you are trying to get between the tables, and I'm a rather small lady. Our server took over 15 minutes to get our drink order, and the wine we had was not very good and expensive. The BBQ sauce is horrible, all four of them. Appetizers were ok, had the ham biscuits, but that was the only enjoyable part. Overpriced, just go to Red Rock.
(1)Jennifer C.
We went for lunch today, and everything we had was great. Started with the jalepeno cheddar hush puppies with mustard remoulade. Moved on to baby back ribs, brisket, cole slaw, mac 'n cheese, collard greens, beans with hamhocks, and cornbread w/ honey butter. All very tasty. The three barbeque sauces were good, too. Against my husband's better judgement, I ordered the peanut butter chocolate cake-- huge and very rich... more ganache than anyone should eat in one sitting. Service was attentive, friendly, and well paced. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

I've got nothing but smiles when I remember this place. It was the first restaurant I went to on my first trip to Napa! Our waitress was a very pleasant and sociable lady, and either she or the chefs were very efficient - in no time delicious appetizers and entrees were set out in front of us. BarBersQ appetizer: Oysters on 1/2Shell My favorite part of the meal had to have been the Grilled West Coast oysters. There were 6 for the 5 of us, and I pilfered the last one. :] My boyfriend, being extra hungry, ordered an amazing pulled pork sandwich, and it was gone in about 30 seconds. I managed to sneak one bite out of it, and it was fanTAStic, on the same level of the best pulled pork I've ever had (which is from Daisy May's in New York City). Full Rack of Ribs (house special) The full rack of ribs we ordered to share were pretty good - I always find ribs that have been dry-cooked lacking in juiciness, which makes me sad - but the BarBersQ special sauce rack made them absolutely delicious. Our waitress made a point to explain which sauce was which - they were all color coded from mild to spicy. The chili side we ordered was good, but not special, until we added a drop of the specially made, organic hot sauce (also suggested by our waitress). The hot sauce was called Frog's Leap, made specially for the restaurant - which makes me sad because I'll never find it in any local store. BarBersQ Dessert: Key Lime Pie Dessert was also especially good - I got the key lime pie. The graham cracker crust was extremely good, but the pie was a bit tart - for genuine key lime I'd probably still recommend getting them in their native state of Florida. The pecan pie was wonderful, especially with the chocolate and caramel mixed in. Three guys at the table next to us started to take interest in our constant yammer about setting up macro food shots and taking pictures of every dish that came out way. Eventually they struck up conversation with us, and lo and behold, the guy was the OWNER of the restaurant we were sitting in! His name was Jean (spelling?) and he was a very nice guy who was very interested in what we thought of the place (and very curious of our gorillapods on our cameras). We ended up spending two hours eating, chatting, and taking pictures. All in all, an awesome evening - even with the pouring rain outside. I'll be back! Great service, engaging owner (Gene), and really beautiful atmosphere. Try the "Taste of BarBerQ" (for 2 people) which is a sampler of a lot of their wonderful dishes, Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer, Corn Bread, Mac & Cheese and Strawberry Shortcake milkshake! Can't wait to go back soon!

Was surprised that 7 rib is considered a full rack of ribs. The explanation was that they were large ribs.

This place is usually packed and it is already cramped to begin with. The food was tasty. I had a smoked chicken sandwich and a pork pulled sandwich. Both were very good. The fries weren't very exciting. Not much flavor at all and way too thin. The coleslaw was very good as well. The servers there are friendly.

There's a nice little gem in a Napa strip mall Where baby back ribs are at the beck and call. This place has some of the best barbecue It's a shame, though, there's not much of a view. Food: 4 stars. For starters, we tried the ham, cheddar & scallion biscuits, butter lettuce salad and Antoinetta's chicken soup. The biscuits are made with slow-cured ham obtained from Benton's Smoky Country Hams in Madisonville, Tennessee and are served with a spicy-sweet red pepper jelly that provides the right amount of kick. Antoinetta's chicken soup is a hearty blend of diced chicken and vegetables. The butter lettuce salad, served with crispy apple slices, is tasty and simple. The highlight, of course, are the mains. Smoked Vande Rose baby back ribs are finger licking good and go best with the spicy barbeque sauce (the bottle with the red top). The Memphis style pulled pork sandwich is so tasty and delicious that I was sad to finish it. The pulled pork is smoked for 17 1/2 hours. The side of BarBersQ Fries were salty goodness, while the cole slaw was nice and tangy. For dessert, the BarBersQ Lime Pie was a perfect marriage between the tart key lime and the slightly sweet crust, while the Silverado Strawberry Shortcake, served with light whip cream, was simply delicious. Service: 4 stars. Our server looked quite young, as if he was still in high school. I was pleasantly surprised by how much knowledge he had about the food and his professionalism and courtesy. He was really good about replenishing our drinks as well. The only blip on his report card would be forgetting to replace the silverware and napkins that were taken when our starters were cleared. Atmosphere: 4 stars. Although barbecue is typically enjoyed outdoors, I found myself gravitating towards the nice modern interior with beautiful black and white photography mounted along the walls. The crowd is diverse and decent, but the outdoor seating facing the strip mall parking lot is a disappointment. Hits: Benton's Country ham, cheddar & scallion biscuits, baby back ribs, pulled pork sandwich. Misses: Dining al fresco. If You Like This Place, You'd Probably Like: Rutherford Grill, Bo's Barbecue, Memphis Minnie's

Thirty minutes for a cup and bowl of soup? Our mains never came and we finally left. No comp for soup delay (no it was Sunday night and not even half full). $17 later we will not return.

This place has some good Q for Napa. Its get an extra star for its classy feel. Plus a good wine selection. No sauce selection, but i made sure to request more sauce to drench that sucker. Ribs were Tender, but small portions. Thier pull pork was good too. but a bit small. service was good.

Went here over the weekend and had the Fried Chicken that Michael Bauer raved about. It's very very good. Wonderful crust, piping hot, 4 pieces with mashed potatoes and gravy and collard greens that are flavorful and go well with the chicken. All for $14.95 a good deal. Service was good, primarily younger kids and they try hard albeit sometimes they are a bit "interaction challenged". Highly recommended to have great barbeque and great fried chicken. Note: the fried chicken is served on Sundays!

Five of the happiest stars you've ever seen! Thank God there's finally a place like this in Napa! The prices are totally reasonable and the food is by far some of the best in the Valley. I went with some friends last week to check it out and although it's a little small it's hands down the best restaurant atmosphere in town. My friends and I shared sandwiches and after one bite into my delicious turkey sandwich I considered snatching the other half back from my friends plate. Yes, the food is so good it makes you forget all those good lessons in sharing you learned in kindergarden!! I, however, followed the golden rule and tried the grilled cheese that I'd traded away my precious half turkey sandwich for. There are no words for the tastiness of this sandwich. Double thumbs up for sure! After the sandwich excitement had settled down we dove into the homemade ice cream sandwich. Let me just say that there is no cookie made by any grandma in the entire world that can even come close to how good this one is! Bottom line, this place ROCKS!!! Sign me up a s a regular!!
(5)Julie K.
Corn bread IS amazing. Mac and cheese IS amazing. Unfortunately ran out of their sunday fried chicken so was very disappointing since that's why I chose this place to eat. Will try again this coming sunday. They said to call and reserve the fried chicken. I will definitely do that.
(4)Irene C.
Kind of surprising to find this restaurant in a shopping complex, but once you're inside, you kind of forget that. Unless of course you have a window seat looking out over the parking lot. But regardless, once you get your food, all of that fades away. We had the ham, cheddar and scallion biscuit which were fantastic! I went with the babyback ribs, which you can add any of the variety of bbq sauces. My other dining companions chose the pulled pork sandwich, which looked quite tasty. We shared a key lime pie and a strawberry shortcake for dessert. Key lime pie is too tart for me (as it's suppose to be) but the strawberry shortcake was very good! I will definitely make a trip back up here anytime I'm in the Napa area.
(4)Jack S.
One of my favorites. The service is always good. The food is consistantly fresh and yummy.
(4)Casey W.
Don't expect leftovers. The portion to price ratio is about 1:2, and although the food is good, I wouldn't have minded a little riblet or two to take home, or an extra side to fill me up at the restaurant. The food is delicous, the servers attentive, but for the price I think a little more food should be included.
(4)Susan M.
The most amazing fried chicken, absolutely perfect. Enjoyed everything we have ordered here - and really like that they are creative with how they do the "basics" It mightn't appeal to everyone, but then I don't like KFC. Rather sad to hear the things about the unruly children. Come on people, this isn't a kid's restaurant unless your children know how to sit at a table during their meal.

I don't know why it has taken me so long to write a review - I have been mulitple times, and every time I leave I think "why don't I come here more often?!" Great bbq, done the napa way. Everyone who works there seems to know their wine, there are awesome b&w photos of winemakers and vineyards, but at the same time - everyone there recognizes that its a bbq joint - totally relaxed, community place. I tried the combo a few nights ago, which allowed me to pick 2 items. I went with the brisket and the chicken (I had ordered the pulled pork - which was awesome-the last time, so I was trying to switch it up!). It was soooo good. The chicken was not slathered in bbq sauce, but instead had a great rub on it, incredibly tender and juicy. I was able to play around with my own favorite sauce combo (3 on the table : the house sauce, a spicy version, and then a vinegar based). The brisket was the best part though. Fall apart tender, amazing smokiness, and all around tasty. This might be my favorite thing on the menu. My dinner came with a side of coleslaw, that I think may have been made with yogurt...it had this tanginess that was a really nice counterpart to the richness of the bbq! I will say, we started with the crab cakes....not my favorite. Breaded and fried, they had bell peppers chopped up in them, which kind of threw it off for me. Thinking of some other favorites - I have had the mini lamb burgers a few times, always good. I am not much of a fried chicken person, but from friends who consider themselves connoisseurs, this is some of the best. Can't wait to go back!

A perfect follow-up for a day of wine tasting. I grew up in the Midwest with Southern family roots and was raised on cornbread, beans and hamhocks, greens and BBQ. Barber's Q takes these old favorite comfort foods and refines them for a more modern, palette. We have been several times and always have an amazing meal. Our favorites are the BBQ oysters, mini lamb burgers, pulled pork sandwich, vinegar chicken, fried chicken (on Sundays) and of course the RIBS! The house-made BBQ sauce in the condiments cradle on the table are sublime. All of the flavors are intense, but subtly layered. The BBQ isn't greasy and fatty, but smoky, smooth and memorable. The wine offerings are wonderful and diverse! Which makes a lot of sense, because this isn't the old fashioned greasy BBQ that you wash down with a cold Budweiser, this is really incredible, flavorful, nuanced food meant to be paired with a really smooth Pinot Noir or brash Zinfandel. Look around the restaurant while you're there and you'll notice a little bit of everything: locals & wine-tasters from the city, familes with small kids and lesbian and gay couples, we saw an older couple park their vintage jaguar and come in for dinner, followed a few minutes later by a group of men in dusty jeans and hats who looked as though they'd been out working in the vineyards all day. The word is spreading... check it out!
(5)michael c.
Good - very very good. Only reason it's not rockin' the 5 stars is the cost (which really isn't that bad) and the location which blows. It's fairly small and it's "patio" is basically the shopping centers parking lot. These are small issues though and is definitely worth the try.
(4)James C.
OMG I think I just fell into BBQ Heaven.. The Ribs are AMAZING .I should know.I travel all the way from San Francisco to get the awesome Ribs.Cant wait to see you guys again ! Oh Kelly is the manager there and she is such a pro.. Great food great sevice= Boom Happy Days

After much heralding, we made our way to BarbersQ. As nice a setting as one can expect in a strip mall. A warm day would allow the use of a spacious front patio open to the parking lot. A comfortable setting inside, if a bit tight. Interesting now that I think about it, that the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon wasn't but 50% full, yet it seems that all 50% of us were seated along the back wall creating a more cramped feel than perhaps was necessary. The service was very pleasant and satisfying. I had a problem with my drink order that was rectified very quickly. But the food was the draw, and it was very good. The Ribs and Brisket combo was $18 plus an additional $6 for the perfunctory Sausage. As witnessed by many of the rightfully opinionated reviews, what constitutes good barbeque can be decisive, so I will refrain from flashy superlatives. The Brisket was very tasty and flavorful, the Ribs meaty and satisfying and the sausage excellent, in my opinion the best of the three and not to be missed. The sauces were good if not memorable. I am not such a cole slaw fan and theirs did not sway me. As for the price, I really struggle with a $40+ bill for salad, a large Combo plate, and 2 Sodas for Saturday lunch. There seems to be only one menu so I assume the dinner would have the same quantity, so why do I feel as though it would not have felt so expensive at dinner time? All told a nice afternoon, I have to say I felt just a small tinge of dissapointment based on Bauers and others glowig reviews. Still have to side with Bo's as the favorite.

Yes, it was a slight challenge to find but soooo worth it! My husband and two children sat outside and the staff could not have been nicer! Drank half of my husband's draft beer before deciding to get my own and boy oh boy did the food rock! I had the pulled pork sandwich and loved the side of a bibb lettuce salad. In fact, the sides were excellent, especially the greens. My husband is from New Orleans and proclaimed them the best ever-ate the whole side before he got to the excellent ribs. I asked him what he thought of the modern decor and we both agree one does not need to eat in a barn to have excellent BBQ! Our ONLY complaint is that they do not offer a hot/spicy sauce.
(5)Vanessa B.
Yum! We went last night for the much-talked-about fried chicken and it was fantastic. The chicken was crispy without a hint of oiliness, the cornbread perfect, and the coleslaw incredible. My mother-in-law is a very healthy eater and she had their gumbo and salad, and raved about that was well. All in all, a bit hit and we'll be going back as soon as we're able.
(5)Ross K.
went there for the wedge. don't bother. a wedge salad 100 times better lies down the street at fume. also tried the wings. smokey, spicy, dry and boring. with 2 duds out of 2, i felt no need to explore the menu any more. if you want killer bbq without napa prices, go to busters barbecue in calistoga.
(2)Habsfan B.
EXCELLENT food, the pulled pork sandwich and brisket is the best I've ever had! Terrific service for our group of six and impressive wine list to boot. A not-to-miss place if you're in Napa, can't wait to go back again!
(5)Terrie R.
I had high hopes for Barbers Q and they delivered. We started off with fried green tomatoes with ham and the BBQ oysters. It was very difficult to share everything among the 4 of us - it was so good. Since I am not a huge smoked meat lover (but my friends are) I ordered the bean with ham hocks, macaroni and cheese and a side of broccoli rabe with pepper flakes and garlic. Could be too much for one person, but I shared with my friends to get tastes of the pulled pork and brisket. The beans were creamy with the right amount of ham flavor. The mac and cheese was cheesy on top (and the real test) in the middle. My friends ordered the Taste for two - too much food even for the big guy. He loved it all (although not a fan of the chicken spices, probably just a personal preference thing). The two guys finished everything. Service was excellent and we wanted more lime pie and chocolate cake, which we took home. I wish that I could have been there for Sunday Fried Chicken.
(4)Heather L.
Mmmmm. Deeeeelicious. That's all I have to say about that.
(5)Pachirisu P.
Yummy barbecue and good, friendly service! I visited this restaurant after reading the review on SFGate. It was accurate. It's hard to find good family friendly places in Napa that are non-fast food and non-family restaurant chain. The mild barbecue sauce has a sophisticated spicy aftertaste that was just perfect - this definitely ain't Tony Roma's. My chicken soup was also very good - nice broth with small spherical pasta thinggies. The interior was quite modern and new - I will definitely return. It's located in the back of a strip mall, so you can't see it from the street. Head for Target and Whole Foods and you will find it tucked away in the back.
(4)Ben M.
It is BBQ...so why pay through the nose for what I can do at home? Because if you stay home like a hermit you will die of loneliness. Chipotle short rib sammy, baby back ribs drippin' off da bone, ham/cheese and scallion mint jelly biscuits and cornbread. mmmm
(3)Brian T.
We are definite fans of BarbersQ. We had never heard of it, and discovered it pretty much by accident on a trip to Napa. Next time, we will head there totally on purpose. The atmosphere is friendly. There really isn't a better word for it. The food and service are exceptional, and definitely a change from what you will find elsewhere in the Napa valley. In a wonderful, refreshing sort of way. If you are in the neighborhood, or even if it is going to be a bit of a trip, definitely give it a try.
(5)David T.
Once again BarbersQ came through. I'd been craving meatloaf for a couple of weeks but hadn't had any luck finding any, so I took the plunge and drove up to BarbersQ on Thursday, which is meatloaf day. My anticipation was richly rewarded--the meatloaf was a work of art, served with their usually superb mashed potatoes and delicious lightly sauteed spinach, all complimented with an excellent glass of Zin. So after 8 or 9 visits, mostly for the best fried chicken in the Bay ARea, BarbersQ has yet to disappoint, for which they earn an extra star.
(5)Eric A.
A sincere disappointment. After reading about BarBersQ, I stopped by for an early Saturday dinner. I chose the Combo Plate with pulled pork and beef brisket. When the waitress dropped the sauces on their tray, I had to ask what the different colored bottle tops meant. I could detect no difference between the "mild" and "spicy" sauces--both were mild. The "vinegar" sauce was a good North Carolina style sauce. The combo plate arrived with both meats and a sizable portion of cole slaw, garnished with a few fried onions. The pulled pork was over-done (or it could have been cooked a couple of days prior) and the brisket was very uneven--one end juicy to the point of fattiness, with the other end dry and tough, almost jerky-like. The cole slaw was fresh--too fresh in fact. Properly done, the dressing will have some time to soak into and take the edge off the cabbage, but this could have been dressed 45 seconds before being served. The most notable omission was no breads of any kind--no rolls, no sliced bread, nothing. I asked and was told I could "order a side" of cornbread. I've NEVER been served a BBQ plate without something to sop up the extra juice! Of course, if atmosphere is your thing--this place is great. Very hipsterish, with the cool Sade-like music and fancy lighting, etc. Nice patio--especially if you like dining next to an active parking lot. If you're going for looks, come here. If you're going for Q, go somewhere else!
(2)Lucy A.
We went here last week. My husband had barbecued ribs and I had ribs and chicken combo. I have to say that I was a little bit disappointed in the meat. It was not tender. It was smoked nicely and tasted good, just a little tough. My dinner came with a salad which was delicious. My husband had the gumbo and he loved it. The dessert was marvelous - a banana split for two. Carmelized banana and the ice cream was fresh and delicious. I don't know where they got it or if it was home-made, but it was delicious. A bit pricey but the portions are large. 3.5 stars because the meat was a little hard and chewy. I don't think we'll go back.
(3)Ray P.
I loved this place so much I am tempted to drop the F-bomb about it. Their french fries are awesome awesome awesome! I had their pulled pork sandwich which was perfection and their coleslaw rocked the MF house. For desert I had the peach cobbler which reminded me of my grandmothers. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good bbq. I think it is great that Stephen Barber has brought his version of high end BBQ to Napa. The service is a lso good and the space nicely appointed with black and white photographs of vineyard views. It is both classy and intimate.
(5)Leah K.
Great BBQ. Fun to sit outside if you have the time, otherwise you can order takeout, too. As others have mentioned, the mac & cheese is delicious. It's what I would call a "write off" sort of place... eat what you want here, enjoy it, and just "write off" this day as a cheat day in your diet, because it's totally worth it. If you're doing it right, you probably won't have room for dessert after your main course & sides, but order some dessert to go and take it home. You won't regret it.
(4)Heather L.
Wonderful! Great patio. Staff was friendly and nice. Food was delicous.
(5)Sarah D.
Barber's Q = Happy Tummy! This place is fantastic!!!! Country Ham on Cheddar Jalapeno biscuits, lamb burgers with fresh herbs, smokey delicious ribs, pulled pork goodness, perfect skinny soft-on-the-inside-and-crispy-on-the-outside fries, and fried apple pie a la mode?!? YES PLEASE!!! Everything I had was fantastic, and yes...it was an un-do the top button sort of situation. I can't wait to go back for the chicken. short ribs, grilled cheese, collard greens, and...well, you get the point. It makes me happy...hence the 5 stars! Q me!

We really wanted BBQ, the food was good and so was the service. We were at a table that was really cramped. Overall the experience and food (especially the ribs) was good, I think my girlfriend enjoyed it more than I did. I asked for spicy BBQ sauce, it was not all that hot, but not a big deal.
(3)Matt V.
Great service and great food. It's nice to finally have a few options for LOCALS in Napa! Enough with the tourist junk!
(5)Joe S.
I think they've been working on their service -- this last trip, everything flowed from the food, service, and their attention to detail... congratulations BarBersQ, it is nice to see your service is starting to match your food.

We stumbled into this place and were pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in a strip mall. Mac and cheese was FANTASTIC. creamy and deceivingly light. The butter lettuce side salad was the perfect complement to the pulled pork sandwich. I initially asked for the sauce on the side, but was assured that it wouldn't be a goopy mess so i agreed to having it assembled for me. half the sandwich filled me up but it's probably because i had all the yummy side dishes - collard greens (with big chunks of bacon..yum), cornbread (not great), fries (crispy shoe strings), and the aforementioned mac. everyone ordered a main, lemonade, and shared appetizers and it came out to $25/person. More than i was hoping to spend for a lunch, but the service and atmosphere made it worth it.

Yes, I was skeptical...High end barbecue? In a strip mall? In Napa? It just seemed like a recipe for failure. But I've eaten at BarBer's Q four times now, and it just keeps getting better. The atmosphere (lots of shiny metal) is hip and modern, and the service is warm and competent. The menu has a great mix of appetizers, sandwiches, large entrees, and sides - we've never had anything bad here. All the sandwiches are great, and the ribs and BBQ chicken are excellent. The cornbread and collard greens are two of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. Add in a reasonably priced, extensive wine list, and you've got gold.

Went based on a friend's recommendation. Last minute dinner at 9PM on a Saturday night. Knew they close at 9:30PM, but was promptly seated. Decor is nice and casual but nice atmosphere. Ordered full slab of ribs and southern fried chicken. Waitress warned that chicken would take 20 minutes and we were fine with the wait. 5 minutes later, waitress brings out a plate of fried chicken stating that there was an order of chicken already made. On first bite, we realize the chicken is warm at best. It's obvious the chicken has been sitting out for some time. We let a waiter know and he apologizes and takes it back. Another staff possibly hostess or manager comes out and apologizes and states they will bring another plate out. A short time later we get a plate of chicken with 1 piece less than the original plate. Looks very suspicious as we originally received 4 pieces, 1 of which we took a bite of. Chicken doesn't seem fresh, but more reheated. The ribs we ordered weren't bad, but the experience with the chicken and subsequently poor service from our waitress ruined our dining experience. The staff had two opportunities to make our experience better, either bring out a fresh plate of chicken or comp the reheated meal. They did neither and lost 2 customers and potential fans for their establishment. I will admit food is a big part of the equation in whether you go, but service can certainly take good food and leave a lasting impression of a bad experience. All in all, price of food and poor service makes it hard for me to recommend this place or give it a favorable review. I realize the rating is lower than the average, but that was just my experience. Hope this helps.

Yes, this is a fancy bbq joint. Fancy bbq - sounds like an oxymoron. I have to admit, this place is pretty darn good. This place is decorated with a very modern look. It is sparkling clean and you don't even smell the bbq smoke that might emits from the kitchen. I tried the half rack ribs and pull pork sandwich. The ribs are good. The pull pork sandwich is excellent. The meat is very tender, flavorful, and just melts in your mouth. I definitely like the pull pork sandwich. I didn't order the mini-burgers and I would advise against ordering it unless you are a super light eater. The table next to mines order it and those burgers are definitely mini. They are not joking when they say it's mini. My guess is it's about a 2inch diameter. The service is good. The waiters are friendly. This has nothing (maybe) to do with the restaurant, but the tap water sucks. I'm a big water drinker during meals and I couldn't even finish a quarter cup of my water. The water has this terrible after taste. Water just shouldn't have a taste. I guess this is how they make you buy wine. Can't drink the water, have some wine. The price is okay. It's about $10-15 for most dishes. I like this place and if you're around the plaza check it out.

Great food and good service. I ate there last night, I had the skirt steak as did one of my dining buddies. The other person had the brisket and ribs. I arrived a few minutes after my dining partners did and they had already ordered. Mine came out just a few minutes later than theirs did, execept my steak was over cooked. I ordered it med rare and it came med well. The wait person was quick to place a new order and it was quick to come out. No fuss on my end as they resolved the error quickly and professionaly. Everyone was very pleased with their meal and the service. The steak had a wonderful flavor. Oh, and we ended with the sundae. Wow! I've also had the pulled pork sandwich, it's tasty too!

Well, if you like to eat your down-home food in a sophisticated setting with electronica in the background and excellent wine in your glass, this is the place for you. To paraphrase Mike Mills, they had really good salad. Butter lettuce with apple in a light vinaigrette. In other words, I felt the bbq was just okay and expensive to boot. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was dry. It came with a blob of mayonaise-y coleslaw on top, which I really feel they ought to mention in the menu, if only to satisfy calorie counters and BBQ freaks, who may feel that that style of coleslaw does not belong on pulled pork. Also, the meat came on a ciabatta-style bun. This is picky but important to me. My folks had the BBQ platter, and it seemed like much of the meat was quite dry and a little heavy on the smoke flavour in my opinion. I thought the pork ribs were the best of the bunch; they separated cleanly down the middle with meat on both bones and had good flavour. I also liked the sausage; it was spicy, smoky and delicious. My husband had a confusing smoked chicken sandwich, which arrived bearing a mystifying crown of celery and lettuce. I think this might be the place to go if the setting is more important than the food, i.e. a first date, but not the place for a soulful plate of barbecue.

I just fell upon this place tonight and it was great!!! Sat at the bar a had a glass of Quinterra zin and ordered the cobb salad. EXCELLENT!! Steven the bartender was professional and very informitive, had a nice conversation about there wine list. (which is one of the better ones I've seen here in the Valley. What I mean by that is they have wines from all over and not just Napa wines. It's nice to have a variety. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's a little pricey for bbq, However, you get what you pay for. If you're in the Valley or Shopping at Tj's check this place out. When your inside you don't think about being in a strip mall. They have only been open for 9 months and I can see this place getting better and better.
(5)Big C.
Really great, comfortable, friendly place. the key west pink prawn appetizer is addictive. Great ribs, great wine list. Very well done.

My husband and I ate here last Sat. night and again for a late Sunday lunch. Friday was the oysters (yum) and wedge salad (yum). Ribs and slaw (good) and brisket sandwich (yum). I'm not loving the sauces - too sweet for me - even the vinegar based one, but the ribs were tender and I have no complaints about the slaw. Too full for dessert. Sunday: Ham biscuits - I would go back for these alone. Mix of hot and cold, salty and sweet - the best. Fried chicken (4 pieces) for him, of which I snagged a piece and devoured mightily, great taters and gravy and tender collards (although again, on the sweet side). I did add the chile-spiced vinegar they brought for the chicken to the collards and this helped, and although this vinegar is different than the one served with dinner, it still had a sweetness that just seems wrong. I don't think I've ever had fried chicken outside KFC - I really liked this and am on the hunt for more. Why is it so difficult to find?!? I had the pulled pork sandwich, a meat choice I normally love, although this was only fair IMHO. Bottom line - I want to go back and try some other things. A nice change of pace from our normal triple-digit napa-area dining experiences! It cracked me up that BBQ was in such a nice location with candles and music. Only in Napa!
(4)Shawn H.
This place is consistently excellent. not only do they obviously have awesome BBQ, they have the best fish and chips in town. When ordering the fish and chips tell them Shawn & Shawn sent you. Lol The staff is friendly and attentive too.
(5)Stephen B.
We happen to come across this place after visiting an establishment down the street that wasn't quite what we were expecting. The Q was very inviting with a sizable patio outside with plenty of shade umbrellas. The menu had lots of delicious sounding southern-style foods and they tasted even better. If I'm back in the Napa area, I'll be stopping back here!
(5)Doc P.
Wow! We'd never even seen this hidden treasure across the lot in all the years we've been coming to whole foods. Q popped up as a suggestion during a restaurant search in the area. It's GREAT BBQ! Great! We started with a grilled artichoke and pulled pork prepared like fish-sticks. Wow! What a great taste treat preview for dinner. We got a couple of combo-plates and a few sides. (We also got boxes to go because the portions are generous. The prices are good, too!) Ribs = fall off the bone... Literally! Pulled pork = tender and moist. I added a little Carolina sauce to punch it up a bit. Brisket = tender and delicious. Smoked chicken = moist, flavorful, and perfect. Mac N Cheese - these people know what they're doing! Collard Greens - too much vinegar bite for me, but my wife loved 'em Corn Bread - made to order in a tiny skillet - wonderful! And despite what some sites portray, they have a full bar. It's not fine dining, but it sure is delicious and we'll call it a new favorite! We'll be back! If only they'd get a sign that says Restaurant & Bar, others could find them too.

Very disappointed to have wasted a meal here while on vacation in Napa. Like some of the other reviewers here, we were misled by the 4-star review. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere with a pretty outdoor seating area. We had called ahead and our table was set and ready for us upon arrival. Unfortunately everything was downhill from there. After placing our order for a party of 6, we waited 50 minutes for our entrees to arrive. Pulled pork was bland and dry while the garlic fries and potatoes were soaking with oil. Burgers were not impressive. The whole chicken on the menu has a disclaimer that the meal takes 45 minutes to prepare but this should have been a warning for the entire menu as no one in our party ordered the chicken. I was personally very disappointed with the waitstaff as no one apologized or even acknowledged the excessive wait. Just not the best experience overall.
(2)Michael B.
I feel absolutely betrayed by the 4 star Yelp review that we looked up before going here. The service was extremely slow and the food was not good at all. We waited over an hour for our food and at no point did the staff acknowledge how long it took to get our food or apologize. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was super dry and on hard tasteless bread. I couldn't finish it. Everyone else in the party was disappointed with their meals as well.
(2)Vicente L.
Went in with the fam, took for ever to get drinks and to put in our order. Food finally came and it was cold and over cooked. Manager came by and apologized, nice gesture, not even our sodas were comped.
(2)Rich M.
Wow. Had lunch with my 12 year old in August of 2015. My son had baby back ribs which seriously were about the best ribs I can recall eating in some time. I have a perfect burger. Service was spot on...food came out quickly....and the price was very fair. Well done.
(5)Terry F.
Phenomenal service and food. Loved everything about this place. The BBQ sampler for 2 was huge. Drinks were also great
(5)Tiffany C.
Super disappointing! I can't believe this place has 4 stars. Bad food and bad service! Bad service-First of all when we walked in, the host/mgr/staff person asked if we wanted to sit indoors or outdoors. We asked for indoors, and then she walked over to her computer for like 3 minutes to put in an order or something. It was just weird. We were like "do we wear ourselves then?" And then she said "no I'll seat you", then proceeded to be on her computer for another minute. The restaurant was empty by the way. Finally we were seated. Then we waited for another 7-10 minutes before someone came over for our order. Super annoying. I was there with my mom, and she really wanted to eat there, otherwise we would have already left. The waitress takes our orders, and my mom orders a cucumber mojito. The waitress said they could make it. The mgr lady came over to ask if she wanted lime, and how does the cucumber get added. My mom was like "no lime, it's just got muddled cucumbers" then the lady cut her off and said "I know how to make mojitos, I lived in key west for 12 years". It came off very rude. Bad food- we ordered the chicken nuggets for my 2 year old. They were over cooked, fries were cold. My mom ordered shrimp and grits, there was a puddle of grease in the bottom of her plate. My husband ordered the cod sandwich, which had no flavor and again over cooked. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, I was confused. No sauce on the pork. And also no flavor! The waitress said "they are trying something different, and if you don't like it I can take it back". Hmm seems like no one likes this new way. Then I asked about the sauces. Maybe she just forgot to do her spiel about the sauce, but there were like 5 sauces and no labels for any of them. They should label the sauces anyways. And the sauce all tasted like ketchup. Just blah. We told the server how the pork wasn't good, and the greasy shrimp and grits, they were nice enough to take those two items off of our tab. Just the chicken nuggets, cod sandwich and the mojito came to $60!!!! Holy crap it was expensive! If you want some good BBQ, go to bounty hunter. That place is amazing!

Service was great = two stars Total disappointment. Very rarely do my fellow yelpers lead me to the wrong location but they did here. The price point is way high and the $$ on yelp is misleading. We spent a grip on lunch but the worst part is the taste of the food. We ordered the platter of BBQ for 2 plus 2 sides. Each Tri tip, rib, chicken, pork was very bland & if I could describe the taste it would be pepper? I have no idea if there was a different cook but I now wholly agree with all the bad reviews. Very expensive & not worth the money. I can pick 5 other BBQ places that I would repeat but this place is just not what I was expecting with the outstanding misleading reviews. Mac & Cheese was average very oily but sadly the best part of the menu to over power the pepper sensation. ALL FOOD has that same spicy pepper sensation so if your sensitive this would be a big failure to your stomach & wallet. Let me tell you made out here. The Q and my dog who ate the food we couldn't bare continuing to inhale bc we were starving.

The Q is the go-to for the ultimate fauxcation to the South. Imagine sitting on a bench in marvelous Memphis, sucking on the succulent juices of swine. Perhaps it'll be a snowy-white day -- but it doesn't feel that way, because by your side is your sweet sidekick (with whom you enjoy the bountiful blessings of southern hospitality). It's just you, him, and smiles painted with BBQ sauce as you stare affirmatively into the eyes of one another. Smiles that would put Dolly to shame. This is what it's like. The ribs. The brisket. The chicken. The cole slaw. The pulled pork. The fried pickles. The f*king cornbread!!!!! The meat simply fell the bone and melted in our mouths. No need for sauce, but if the occasion calls for it, you have a vast selection ready at the table. There's just no other way to go. Embarrassingly, I cannot recall name of our server (the amazingly tall, jolly fellow) but thank you again for recommending the divine cornbread! It's dense and moist enough to make you want to blissfully dance in a forest of corn maize, naked. Come here. When you do, bring nothing other than sweatpants with elastic waistbands... It's about to get real.
(5)Melissa D.
Apparently, my go-to place for a glass of wine and dinner after a long day at work. Great environment and friendly staff. I love the outside patio, especially with the beautiful weather we've been having. They do have a variety on the menu, which is nice. There's also a tv in the bar, great mixed drinks and a decent wine menu.
(4)Jen D.
This place is nice & waiters were nice. Food was ehhh okay. Not super bomb. We had: 1) Ribs: Mine was dry but few of my friends were moist. They liked it but I thought it was okay. 2) Pulled Pork: I had better, but I liked how they had fat on there (lol). 3) BBQ Chicken: Was good, but it was a little red... 4) Brisket: Was good. 5) Mac & Cheese: boring. Had better. 6) Garlic Fries: was ok. 7) Cornbread: Was ok. Just liked eating the crispy edges. Lol 8) Coleslaw: Was ok. The combo plate are big portions that you can pretty much share with someone. If your not trying to get full. I just think this place was too pricy for food that tastes okay.
(2)Carol F.
The Q now serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday and the food I had Fried Chicken and corn waffles was perfect. My companion couldn't stop raving about his Bloody Mary and a special drink oh gin and grapefruit juice. At 11:30 they start serving the regular menu, allowing me choices from their menu of specials, the brunch and regular menu. So many choices do little room. I highly recommend you try brunch at the Q.
(5)Linda M.
The Vinegar chicken was excellently presented & prepared. The staff is always welcoming & responsive to a superb dining experience.

OMG i absolutely love this place...enough that i a rocking a 5 star review after only one visit. (there will be more) the restaurant was in a strip mall...hmm...odd the place was quite empty when we arrived (but it was still early ish) my friends were quite sketched on the place...but no time to find something else...we were on a schedule i ordered what was recommended to me by a friend...the vinegar chicken. That is an awful name for a dish...i know it sounds atrocious...but it is the polar opposite...it was devine!!! i swear i still dream of that chicken! at our table we also had ribs and mac n cheese (YUM!!) and steak of some sort. we had a couple bottles of wine...enjoyed =) they were a great help in suggesting wine's to us. at the end of our meal we asked to purchase some of their Q wine glasses...they brought them to us wrapped in tissue and bagged...and GAVE THEM TO US! excellent souvenir to take home! ha i guess we spent enough money. thank you Q
(5)Dennis T.
We came here on a Saturday around 2:30 after our first wine tasting. When we got here we where seated our waiter came asked if we wanted any beverages, we got water.by the time he return with our water we where ready to order. We order a taste of the Q for two. The Q for two is baby back ribs, pulled pork , chicken, brisket , sausage & coleslaw. The coleslaw was really good and the baby back ribs fall of the bone good, the kind that no meat gets stuck in your teeth. As for the chicken, pull pork, brisket and sausage they where all good but I liked the rib the most. Service was good maybe cause of the time we came in. We will be returning on one of our trips to Napa.
(5)Erica L.
Brisket was the best from the plate for 2 people. Ribs were good too. I'd pass on the pulled pork and chicken though. Place is really interesting, It's not what you think when you think of bbq places. Much more classy. We sat outside but it was perfect weather. Service was great. Really friendly and attentive.
(3)Kelly O.
Got the prime rib... 'cause it's Wednesday. .. It's good. .. Not great, but good. .. Service is great. . My boy got the ribs... He liked them. .. I'm not a fan. . But then again, I'm not a fan of pork ribs. ..It's 5 stars for the service. ..The food is good enough to keep coming back. ..
(5)Mike M.
I got carry out from here. I ordered the 2 meat plate and the chicken soup. The soup was good, but not worth the $12.50 cost. For the 2 meat plate, I chose the pulled pork and chicken. The chicken was good and moist, but not a real smoky flavor. The pulled pork was very good, moist with a lot of flavor. Overall, this is OK BBQ.
(3)Erin O.
Great dessert, see Key Lime pie pic attached. Finding a spot in the Napa area that has Key Lime without an absurd wait is tough but this dessert was worth the drive outside the Yountville/Saint Helena area. Only knock, was a strong seafood smell right at the entrance other than that a good spot to stop for coffee and a quick dessert.
(4)Sonyia G.
Best deviled eggs ever! The staff is very friendly and it's a great place to take the kids - however I do wish they had a kids menu with smaller portions.
(4)Jay B.
Very good beef brisket and fries. The cod and fish tasted crisp and fresh. The sweet bbq sauce was so so but the spicy one tasted better. Grilled artichoke was delicious.
(4)Erica S.
No one is paying attention at this restaurant. No one greeted us at the door. A bus boy tried to seat us by the chilly front door which begs the question, why bother to make a reservation? Out of three, then later four, menu items by 7:30PM on a Thursday. Service from a bartender/server was uneven and the busser hovered throughout trying to clear as we ate. Food was good although we were informed after we ordered the combo plate that they had run out of brisket. Ordered dessert and we sat forgotten and abandoned for 20 minutes. At this time there was no one on the floor. Not a single staff person to be seen. Finally the bartender/server remembered and brought our dessert with an insincere apology. The best part? I had given the bartender/server my credit card at the beginning of the night as I wanted to be the host. What does he do? He FORGETS ans brings the bill to my GUEST and totally forgets he has my credit card. Thanks pal, your sloppy don't give a rat's ass service just went over the top. We commented on the way out to the person who appeared to be the Manager-at least that was my guess because he was wearing street clothes and appeared to be doing paperwork in a little office near the rest room. Let's recap shall we? Out of many menu items, service horrific, forgets I'm the host and I have to ASK for my credit card. I even asked if the restaurant had changed hands I was so shocked by the lack of care. Apparently not the case. I should mention that this place is not cheap. Dinner for four was $187.40. This will be my last visit here!

We finished up wine tasting early and had planned on going to Mustards, but they were packed, and not extremely friendly when walked in, so we decided to try Q on a friends recommendation. We were not disappointed. Had a few appetizers, which were great then dug into the entries. Ribs fell off the bone, sausage had great flavor and the Mac n Cheese was also a hit. I would highly recommend this place
(5)Samantha-Rae G.
Food was excellent although the brisket and sausage were a bit dry. Nice atmosphere and very clean.
(4)Hayley H.
I had the special soup for that day...black eyed pea, ham and butternut squash. It was great, but a little on the salty side! I also split the cornbread with my mom (who also got the soup). I'm a fan of the more savory cornbread, this one was definitely on the sweeter side, so I think I would skip it next time. My dad had the ribs and chicken, both of which he said were good, but tasted like they had been cooked the day before and reheated. My dad said he would go back because a lot of other things on the menu caught his eye, but he woulk skip the BBQ....which is saying something since that's what this place is supposed to be good at!
(3)GLORIA R.
We found this restaurant on Yelp, decided to try it out and was amazed at the quality of the good for a "strip mall" we had the chicken, the meat plate of BBQ for two, the Mac and cheese, the New York Steak, corn bread in a skillet, everything was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed and it won't break your wallet!
(5)Nicole V.
This was okay, but the food wasn't exceptional to me, and neither was the service. I felt like we over-payed for how much food we got. One thing that was really good though were the drinks!
(3)K T.
Such a let down! I was beyond excited to try this place, in fact since my family are such foodies we went here for a very special occasion. The atmosphere was loud and tables were quite close but, the decor and bar were nice and well done. We were seated promptly, since we had reservations. We were given no background on the menu or even told what the specialities are- just assuming the BBQ was what you came for. We placed out orders are sat for close to 45 minutes before we finally flagged down a waiter- he proceeded to tell us that out order was "misplaced" and said sorry and walked away. Our appetizers arrived very late as well, and what was supposed to be a wedge salad was a poor excuse for light mayo and a large amount of iceberg lettuce. Finally, our food arrived close to an hour. Everyone ordered the sampler, which was served with coleslaw. The pulled pork was fantastic but, the chicken was terrible and mostly fat and no meat. After almost completing our meal we noticed those around us had tons of BBQ sauces, where were ours? We had to ask for them, and when the waiter plotted them on the table and tried to walk away without an explanation of the sauces we called him straight back. The sauces were probably the best part of the meal, all were very delicious and each had it's own unique taste. At the end- no additional apologies were given and apparently we didn't want to order dessert because the hit us with the check right after clearing out plates- ugh annoying and disappointing especially for "premium BBQ"
(1)Kurt Russell C.
My boyfriend and I went here for Valentines Day. We had a reservation for dinner. The atmosphere at this restaurant is simply superb. The food portions are huge. I actually ordered the Brisket with a side of coleslaw and it was delicious. Gene has been so polite and attentive to us. For a romantic date, this is the place to go.
(5)Brad S.
Really great! Recommend - Ribs, slaw, fried pickles Service A+ The only slight downer was the "bun" for which the Memphis pulled pork sandwich came on. It was more like a biscuit, very dense for an already rich sandwich. Still, a very great place to eat!
(4)Fatty A.
The BBQ was probably sitting around for a while. The pulled pork came out like pork jerky. My body would be juicier if I was BBQ'd.
(3)XO Napa XO Z.
Dined here this evening for the first time and had the burger and fries. I asked that my burger be prepared medium well and it was over cooked (well done). It only came with lettuce and no onions or tomatoes so I asked for some only to be brought some sliced onion but told there were no tomatoes. The burger was very dry being that it had been over cooked and there were no tomatoes in the entire restaurant (odd). I was brought a variety of sauces such as BBQ sauces but I don't like sauces on my burgers. The fries were ok. Just ok. The restaurant itself is nice. It has a nice clean simple feel in its decor and there is also a nice outdoor dining area. Not sure if I will go back or not. Im not in any rush to.
(2)David K.
Bizarre and disappointing experience. We walked in at 1:15PM and the restaurant was 75% empty. We were seated and given water. We ordered right away because we were hungry. AN HOUR LATER there was still no food, no explanation, and no apology. We finally got up and walked out of the restaurant after more than an hour of sitting there. The two waitresses apologized, but we were given no explanation of what happened. I've never walked out of a restaurant before. To do so with no clue what happened or why food never showed up, and the waitress never checked on us again made it even worse. We were so hungry we ended up at Chipotle. They used to be great on food and service. They need to get their act together.

My family surprised me with a Birthday Dinner at my favorite Napa BBQ Restaurant. We received awesome service and enjoyed their hospitality out on the private outdoor patio! Thank you for making this a memorable night for all! If your looking for a great place to enjoy a meal, either for 2 or for a large group this place really makes your dining pleasurable! From their dirty rice and pork appetizers and their fried pickles to their amazing combo platter, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I myself enjoyed their grilled Salmon dish and don't forget dessert! Have a slice of Key Lime Pie
(4)Rachel S.
Q has a really nice vibe to it, but when it comes to Napa food, you can get better food for less elsewhere. While I am always ready for their fries and chicken, everything else is just ok. If you want a really good food experience, go elsewhere in Napa.
(3)Christian H.
A little bit cross-eyed at the bar.... Does anyone truly find a point to why Open Table exists? Our group of 10 had reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday night, but when we arrived the host informed us that it was going to be 30 more minutes before our table would be ready. No one was getting up. I totally get it. Good thing we're an easy going group ("easy going" means we don't mind having to wait at the bar while we drink!). I believe her name was Savannah - a really wonderful bartender took care of all of us while we waited. They even brought us a free Deviled Egg appetizer after a while - did we look that boozed up? Don't answer that. By the time we got our table it was an HOUR of drinking at the bar followed by 30 minutes of getting settled in, ordering, etc. But the food was definitely great - as was the service. I think this place is a little small to be promising a party of 10 a guaranteed spot on a busy night, so the next time I am this way it would be easier with a group of 4 or less. Kind of an unsuspectingly good spot considering it's in a bit of a mall setting - but that makes it even better. I will be sure to try it again when I am in Napa and am sure that I will like it again!
(4)Ryan S.
This is a great place in not the best location. If this place was in downtown, it would be the best thing since sliced bread. They food is incredible. I had the corn bread for an appetizer and that was honestly the best corn bread I have ever had. Great barbecue food. Must try!
(5)Kerry L.
Oh, yeah! Great BBQ ribs, coleslaw and cornbread.
(4)Jason H.
My family members who live in San Francisco love this place and insist on coming here every time we visit the North Bay. Needless to say, I've visited this place quite a few times. The barbecue is fine. My go-to's have tended to be the brisket, the ribs, and the pulled pork. My criticisms center around the fact that none of the barbecued meats are really as tender as they should be and, if anything, have been on the dry side. They also don't have as much inherent flavor as they should, relying way too much on the assortment of sauces that are available at every table. The collard greens are savory. The cornbread and that honey butter are ridiculously good. Love the heirloom tomato salad. There is no fault to that wine list. The service here has always been very friendly. The prices are on the high side but nothing out of the ordinary for a trendy Napa Valley eatery. I'll quote a friend of mine from the South who said it best: This place makes barbecue for city folks who don't know what real barbecue is.

What's happening with this place? The service people are always friendly. The fried chicken and coleslaw are good. That said, we got bbq ribs recently and as we live nearby, usually food is still piping hot when we get home. These ribs were cold, obviously reheated and the pork was not fresh. There were dried yellow fat spots and the consistency was mushy. This is not the 1st time the food has been sub par, however, this will sadly be the last time we go there.

The amount of recent 4 and 5 star reviews for this restaurant was quite disturbing after our dinner tonight. We called for take out, they said 20 minutes, we were there in about 30, order was ready and waiting at the bar. The food was horrible. The menu said that the skillet cornbread was made to order. Dried out and overcooked. Everything was dry. Being our first time here, we got the taste for 2. Ribs were so dry that I didn't even need to taste them to know it. (My husband tried them, so he can officially vouch for their dryness.) Chicken was dry. Brisket was okay, but not fall apart tender. Pulled pork, which is usually my favorite bbq dish, was just an unrecognizable clump at the bottom of the box like an afterthought. Oh and guess what? Dry. Bbq is not that difficult, this food was just tired and so disappointing. Especially after a $72 bill. Oh and flavor wise, once we got past the dryness, was completely lacking! Everything was just heat from too much spice, with zero depth. We're currently debating whether or not to just throw away the leftovers, or feed them to the dog. We will not be returning.

Great place! Service was great and the food was amazing! The brisket was perfect!

Review solely based on the Southern Fried Chicken. (Sunday special) A couple "old" reviews on here raving about it then I saw it on another food blog. Addendum has been the go to spot so I wanted to try something new. To sum it up, even KFC is better than this. The chicken definitely needed more flavor and was on the dry side. Greens were average but hey, at least the fries were really good right?

Outstanding spicy barbecue in a classy casual Setting. Wait staff very attentive. Great place!!!
(5)Kasey C.
Great stop in Napa. However, make sure you know someone if you come here. My friend ordered fish and chips and received one small piece of fish covered in fries. The table next to us were visiting from a vineyard and were given impeccable service (and multiple pieces of fish).
(3)Tracy T.
The inside scoop on a favorite local restaurant. On Monday nights they have a bucket of the juiciest fried chicken. Round Pond wines seem to be amongst their favorites. They even have Pho.

I'm extremely surprised that I haven't reviewed BarBersQ until now. We actually ate here several times when we lived in Vallejo since it was only a 30 minute drive up, if that. Now that we're in Walnut Creek, we seldom stop in the city of Napa when we come up to the valley. This last Sunday, we did. My wife and I had lunch here and my meal was fabulous, as always. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at BarBersQ. I started with a special appetizers comprised of 4 baked oysters and a salsa that gave the oysters a nice kick. I'd love to tell you the name of the dish but alas it slipped my mind. After that, I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was beautifully prepared and very tasty. While the chicken looked like it might be dry, it was in fact anything but. From past meals here, I can also recommend the Mac & Cheese as well as the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Of course they also have their homemade BBQ sauces which add all kinds of layers and dimensions to the already wonderful dishes. I love me some BarBersQ and so wished they would open a location closer to us!
(5)Scott S.
STILL a great spot! And it's got such a great, clean, airy feel to the restaurant. The service is one of the best examples of casual service operating at a high level and with excellent standards. And I love love LOVE the music/playlist everytime I dine here. Don't ever change the music!
(4)Katie C.
On Tuesday they offer 1/2 off Bottles of wine. HALF off, ANY bottle. Amazing! We stuffed ourselves here. No official kids menu but my 6yo got mac n cheese and a side of fruit. Her mac and cheese was really really good. Honey and I got fried pickles and spicy chicken wings to start. We added cornbread and coleslaw to our sampler plate and brisket sandwich. We ate and ate until stuffed ourselves and our to-go boxes. A gorgeous hot fudge sundae topped off the meal for the little, although the 3 of us together weren't able to finish it. We'll definitely be back! Especially on Tuesday. HALF OFF BOTTLES!

I was so impressed with this place! It's really small, intimate, and plays great music! We had a 10 minute wait before being seated, which was totally fine with me because I was giggin to the old school jams! There is a full bar, outside seating with twinkle lights & heaters. Very mod decor and friendly staff. Our server was Mike, he was awesome! He showed great personal interest and had a nice sense of humor. He suggested we order the pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken sandwich. (I don't eat pork, but my hubby ordered it!) Both meals were soo yummie! And very filling! I also ordered a side of Mac & cheese...it was a bundle of cheesy goodness!!! My hubster also ordered a side of garlic fries, they were also to die for! I'm so glad we stopped to eat here. I will be back again for sure!

Really solid BBQ in the middle of Napa. Large wine and drink list that you won't find in the deep South! Picks: Combo Platter ($18) with ribs and brisket. Better than most. Fry Chicken Sandwich ($14) was good, but not stellar. Corn Bread ($7) freshly baked and it showed in the quality. Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Very Good Service - Good Value - Good Would we come back - Yes

The food was good, service, not so much. We made reservations through OpenTable and the host acted like we were the first two people to show up with reservations. We asked to be seated on the patio and when directed to a small table asked for a larger table and were told that the table we were directed to was the standard two people table. Now, this is on the EMPTY patio at 5:00 pm on a Saturday. The waitress comes out and we ask again for a larger table and she says if we need more room they will make more room (no explanation of what that meant). A condiment tray was put on the table after we ordered and no explaination of the unmarked bottles of sauce was given. Now, we have been here before, but not in a while, and some description of the various sauces is usually given. We ordered the combo for two and 3 sides knowing we would have lots to take home. The table was VERY crowded. No mention that a larger table may have been more appropriate. We were still the ONLY ones on the patio. We ordered coffee with dessert and the waitress spilled it on the way to the table. Cups sitting in saucers full of coffee. I had to ask for a napkin to sop up the coffee to avoid dripping and we were brought clean saucers but nothing to wipe the bottom of the cups with. We were not offered more coffee till after the desserts were finished (small coffee cups) and had to ask for the water to be refilled. The Q was not busy and the service should have been much better. When we left there was no one on the patio. We had been the only folks there through the entire dinner.

I hadn't had BBQ in quite some time and when driving through the area we decided to check out the BBQ place with over 300 reviews and the stable 4 stars. Unfortunately for us, we didn't have much money to spend on sampling the menu so we both ordered the Memphis Pulled Pork Sandwich- holy crap that thing was delicious. One came with fries and the other with their creamy coleslaw (the coleslaw comes on the sammy, too). I am a big wimp when it comes to heat, but my boyfriend tried the Frog's Heat (which is only sold at the Frog's Leap winery and I guess they have some special deal with the Q), which he says was absolutely amazing. Our server was very sweet, very helpful, attentive and friendly. It was very slow (around 2 pm) when we went in so our service was outstanding. If I ever find myself in the area I would definitely come back to try some more items off the menu.
(4)Elaina M.
Great service. But.... Food isn't ever cooked well (chicken too pink, and ribs WAY overcooked -- like they'd been reheated?). Also, prices are ridiculous for the usually small portions and type of food they're serving.
(2)Dennis W.
Let's just say to avoid ths place like the plague! Service could not have been worse......in fact very insulting and offensive. I give it one star since the food was ok and the bartender was helpful. Other wait staff pretty useless, and that is being kind. Would not recommend this place in a million years.
(1)Tina S.
As soon as I walked in, I was impressed with the decor. BarBersQ is not your typical bbq joint. You won't see any red and white checkered table covers here. It's all clean, simple, mirrors, and contemporary design. I loved it. This place is perfect for a romantic dinner, or a dinner with friends. This place will leave you full, and satisfied and yearning for more. I recommend the artichoke and their butter dip, which is amazing! Who knew butter could be so good? I'm not sure what they put in it, but it has some spices or herbs that add tons of flavor to the butter. Also, their pulled pork is one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had, and the salad that comes with the full size sandwich is amazing-- butter lettuce with some citrus vinaigrette- manificient! I wanted to try multiple sandwiches, so I ordered the sliders, which are a little smaller than the typical slider, so order at least 3+. The chicken slider was good, but I wouldn't recommend it, since most of it is fried batter, and there isn't much meat inside... so it is kind of dry. Their lamb sliders were super delicious, possibly even more delicious than the pulled pork! For sides, get the Mac and Cheese, so good, and hot out of the oven.. and their cole slaw was good, very simple flavors. If you have room for dessert, and aren't much of a sweets person, then the sundae is for you! It's not too sweet and a perfect way to finish off your barbersq meal! Somehow, even if you are full, you will have room for the sundae!

Went with a couple friends to have lunch after class and was looking for a healthy choice before working out. Ordered the cobb salad after going back and forth between a sandwich/fry meal which was only $14 whereas the salad was $19. Twenty bucks for a salad? For the healthier/smaller option? Doesn't make much sense. I sucked it up for that one time because it was the healthier choice. The waitress showed us their different BBQ sauces and i was glad to have not ordered anything BBQ, very sour and vinegary... didn't taste much like BBQ sauce to me.
(2)Kelly P.
We have since been back several times to try their fried chicken and it's amazing. Defiantly worth a trip to Napa for some Sunday night chicken. Oh yeah and I am a big fan of their staff, extra friendly and very knowledgable about their menu.
(5)Daralyn C.
Had a great night on the patio but found the service so slow on a slow night. Our kids were antsy and it was obvious they we're hungry yet everything arrived at the same time, which was long after our order was taken. Manager was kind enough to notice empty glasses but we had to bring our CC to the station to process our check. Good food but we waited too long to get it. Il Posto serves locals better.
(3)Kate N.
This place was okay. Nice ambiance. Beefcake waiter... but the food was so-so. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular either. I ordered the ribs and they were a little tough (and when I order ribs, I want them falling off the bone tender). They brought out a little sampling of BBQ sauces which were tasty - I asked for the hottest sauce they had (I like spice!) and the waiter seemed shocked... apparently they have a "Secret" nuclear hot BBQ sauce that is too spicy for everyone... but it really wasn't that bad. Maybe a tad but hotter than sriracha or tapatio sauce. The others at my table agreed. Anyway, my overall experience was okay. I probably won't be coming back just because there are several other AMAZING BBQ places in Napa. I am glad I checked this place out though.
(3)Kathleen N.
Slab of Ribs were alright, but since we're talking about a BBQ joint, they were disappointing. Ribs should have fall off the bone meat. These were kind of a struggle. The tomato-based spicy BBQ sauce was delish but sauce alone is not a good enough definition for fantastic BBQ! My friend got the Sunday special, Fried Chicken. These little guys were really good; tender white meat and lightly breaded for a finishing crisp. They warned us that it would take 20 minutes to be ready, but I think they may have came out sooner than that. Along with the BBQ sauces and ketchup, a bottle of pepper vinegar was a specifically provided condiment to go with the Fried Chicken. Pretty good combo! I don't see myself driving out of the way to go here again, but it's not bad of a spot to try out if you have the time.
(3)Xander C.
Good, solid barbeque joint! started off with the mac&cheese and barbeque oysters. the oysters were good, but the mac & cheese was even better. had the Q for 2, as I wanted to sample everything. it did not dissappoint! we had a large group, with various people favoring texan, carolina, and kansas city style barbeque. this place rose to the challenge and satisfied everybody (no mean feat). the Q for 2 is a lot of food, just the right size for 2 hearty eaters. it would probably be too much food for the average couple.
(4)Marlon T.
Romantic BBQ dinner--this is pretty much what happens here. My friend and I were getting our hands dirty in yummy chicken meat and sauce with dim/soft lighting and nice furniture. The BBQ is awesome--flavorful, juicy, and tender. They had their own housemade sauces and whenever a place does that, it's most likely going to be pretty good. The staff was very professional/nice. The food was awesome. I got the "Bucket of Fried Chicken" which is basically a whole chicken cut up into about 6 pieces and fried. It was well worth it. I would also recommend getting the Mac and Cheese and the Cornbread. This is a great spot in Napa located in a nice plaza.
(4)Frank S.
Place is nothing short of great, from the food to the service and the atmosphere. Clay was our server and he was great! I had the combo ribs/brisket and wife went w the ribs and all was great. Their coleslaw is by far the best I've ever had and we got greens and they were off the charts. Manager, I want to say Matthew was his name, came by and checked on us too. This place is great....
(5)Brandon Y.
Food. BBQ was ok. a bit dry. other food was better. fried green tomatos. burger Atmosphere In the mall. Next too target. All seating feels like it is outside. Price Around $15 a plate

This place is da bomb! We stopped here after a total Napa eating fest, figuring to pick up some take-out & avoid cooking when I got home. I had the menu & decided on 4 pulled pork sandwiches & mashed potatoes. When we got there I was put off as it's located in a strip mall. You have to hunt for it amongst the targets &large chains. It truly looks like nothing much. But, when you walk in? You know you're in a great spot. Warm modern/pub like atmosphere. The woman who greeted us was so nice & helpful. We placed our order & decided to sit for some items that sounded too good to pass up. * Chive & cheddar biscuits with ham.... OH MY GOODNESS!! These little puppies are show stoppers! They're the texture of bisquick sausage biscuits - sort of lumpy & filled with goodness. Split, & layered with thinly sliced parma ham, and a side serve of the tastiest pepper jelly you've ever tasted. YUM YUM YUM (5 stars) - see my photo * Our assistant thought we'd also like the adorable lamb sliders we eyed passing by. We tried 'em.. and they're very tasty. Very lamby, & juicy. (4 stars) see my photo * The pulled pork I brought home for dinner was very good (4 stars), and the mashed potatoes were a 2 stars. Possibly the take out didn't warm up as well as it might have tasted there while fresh. I'll give that one another try. This place is worth the stop, especially to inhale the oh so yummy little cheddar chive ham biscuits!!

One word... Fabulous!!! Come here and eat.!!! Yum!!!
(5)Melissa Z.
Went here on my Bday weekend trip in Napa. I got the ribs and brisket platter with the vinaigrette coleslaw. SO BOMB! Yum! The meat was so delicious and you have to get the cornbread. We left stuffed! We sat on the patio and it was a great vibe. Looking forward to going there again someday!

Super good BBQ place! I got the Combo of Pulled Pork and Ribs and they were amazing!! It also came with cole slaw which was also good too. If you want to share with someone, there is a platter where you get all the meat and it serves two people! The garlic fries were also good! Also, the staff was AMAZING. They always came around and made sure our water was full and asked if we needed anything. There's also outdoor seating which looks very nice, but it was a rather cold day so no one was sitting out there. Take advantage of the feature on yelp where you can make a reservation because it does get pretty crowded!!

Ambience, good portions of good food. Been here three times and never disappointed.

I've been to BarBersQ twice before my visit last night. Once with my BF and it was so-so, both food and service. Once with a friend and it was packed. The food was good but the service sucked. Took my 3 kids there last night (13, 12 and 9). Not picky eaters, however it took them a while to figure out what they wanted. No kids' menu but the server was awesome and accommodated the kids wonderfully. Food came out relatively quickly - when you have kids with you this is important - and it was hot and delicious. I asked the kids what they would rate the restaurant on a scale of 1-10 and my little guy said "11!" My middle daughter said "10 o'clock" (she obviously wasn't paying attention); and my oldest said "Nine. I would give it a 10 but I'm deducting one point because they don't have strawberry milkshakes." (Only chocolate and vanilla.) Overall, a good experience with the kids. My only suggestion is if you're bringing kids, either make a reservation or go earlier on a weeknight (I think we arrived about 5:45 last night). The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars was that I had to wait forever for the check and to have my leftovers boxed. Every time the server passed me without looking at me (despite my hand-waving), the tip-o-meter went down. There were only about 3 other tables occupied so it peeved me a little.
(4)Ryan E.
My husband and I made the trip here from Novato this afternoon. We arrived at 2:45pm (their hours for lunch are through 3pm). We have eaten here before and absolutely loved the food! But when we walked in we were told to "sit anywhere" by a nice male staff member.... Then to our dismay a semi-rude staffer told us they were closed. I always thought that the customer was king? Well... We will not be driving to Napa and stopping by the Q ever again. Poor service and rudeness = we will try another restaurant next time. Sad.

Well, we lived in the south for a while and my hopes weren't high for California BBQ. I was wrong! BarBersQ is now one of our favorite restaurants! My wife and I decided to try someplace new rather than the "usual" downtown Napa restaurants (not that there's anything wrong with them!) Anyway, I saw that BarBersQ had open reservations and figured "why not?" We got there and were instantly and cheerfully greeted by the staff and from that moment on, we knew the staff were a step above your usual waitstaff. They were not only good at their jobs, but comfortable and personable as well. Perfect. We were seated outside as the weather was perfect for outside dining (of course). I was impressed by their wine list (they don't have room to have a 10,000 bottle cellar, but it was still good!) and the wine prices both bottle and glass were very reasonable, on the low-end for what one typically finds in most "wine country" restaurants. We had their deviled eggs for a starter and they were terrific. Good enough where my wife came close to eating mine! (And no, she typically leaves a few of whatever-she-has so I can finish it off...not this time!) For the entree, we had the Q for Two, and that was excellent. Though I've eaten award winning BBQ before, I'm not a judge, but I can say that their pulled pork was the best I've ever had. Hands down. The ribs were definitely smoked, you could taste the smokey flavor. Not fall-off-the-bone, but the flavor was great. The chicken too was smoked and quite tender. The brisket fell apart...texture wise it was fantastic, but it needed some sauce to add flavor (my wife didn't agree, but hey...) The sausage was really, really good as well. Did I mention the pulled pork was fantastic? We were stuffed after that and didn't have a chance to get dessert, but they had some nice looking ones. As far as clientele, the entire gamut was represented, from young kids to mature adults. And a dog (they did dine outside, I don't know if you can bring dogs in, but anyway...) Dress code was "anything"...I saw t-shirts and shorts to khakis and sportshirts. I'm sure more than a few suits have been in there before, but you can be comfortable wearing anything, to be sure. Overall, our experience was terrific and my wife said on multiple occasions that we have to come back frequently. I have no problem with that and will happily recommend BarBersQ to friends and family! This is going to be a new staple for us! Thanks for the great meal and fantastic service!
(5)Yang Q.
The most memorable dish from this BBQ place was their mac n cheese: baked, creamy, super rich and definitely worth the $6. The rest of my experience was just average--extremely friendly and accomodating staff that were, unfortunately, kinda slow on the service even when we were nearly the only party remaining, and hit or miss BBQ. My friend and I split the Taste of Q for Two (ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and chicken) and substituted the cole slaw for a salad. The salad, large leaves of butter lettuce and not much else, was a bit difficult to eat without rolling each leaf up and stuffing it into your mouth. Both the brisket and pulled pork were tender and flavorful, and the sausage had a nice spicy kick, but the chicken was nothing special and the ribs were rather dry. I also tried the fried chicken everyone has raved about but didn't really see what all the hoopla is about. Overall, I'm not sure the food was worth the price.
(3)Maggie J.
Mac n cheese is unbelievably good. Perfect consistency and flavor. Even a friend of mine who is a huge mac n cheese critic, said it is one of the best she's ever had. Yes, and it's winter - time to make regular visits ;0)
(5)Rachel B.
Excellent service from Mark and the bbq plate for two was a taste sensation! Highly recommend
(5)Amy H.
We took advantage of the Q's special Chinese New Year menu, and are really glad that we did. It was an experiment on their part to put together a Sichuan menu, and they did a great job. My favorite was the Ma Po Tofu style dish. We also enjoyed crab, dry fried pork chops, and noodles. I really appreciated that the manager was asking for feedback on each dish, so that they could tweak the execution in the future. I hope that this becomes a regular event.
(5)Monelle A.
With all the culinary delights that Napa Valley has to offer, I didn't think I would find great food in a plaza next to a Safeway. But BarBersQ offers solid BBQ-style fare. My bf and I split: -The Q Combo: Choose any 2 options from Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sausage. We chose ribs and brisket. The food was solid. Not WOW, but solid. Definitely smaller portions that I'm used to when ordering BBQ fare. -Mac & Cheese: pretty good! Great side dish to go with the Q combo. -Jalapeno & cheddar biscuits, proscuitto & jalapeno jelly: the HIT of the meal. The savory crumble of biscuits + saltiness of prosciutto + spicy/sweet jalapeno jelly was really good. Overall: an interesting detour from the typical fare available in Napa valley, but those expecting really authentic BBQ fare and hearty portions will be disappointed. This is BBQ done the Napa way = smaller portions, upscale ambiance, and excellent service.

**3.5 STARS** I've been eying this restaurant since I started my "feed me BBQ" mode. I finally convinced the siblings to try it out this past weekend. Made a res via opentable.com (was afraid that it would be pack since it was a Sat. night) but fortunately... we arrived early enough that we avoided the rush crowd. I didn't really get to try my party's entrees but here's what I ordered: - The Q Combo (baby back ribs + brisket + fries + corn bread) = I was a happy gal! The portion was decent and perfect for me. The baby back ribs were tender that it was falling off the bones... which I was very delighted with. The brisket was tender and well seasoned as well. Their corn bread was good with the accompanied butter. They have three types of bbq sauces that I was hoping our server was going to tell us which was what... but to no avail. Overall... service was spotty... or maybe it was just our server. He forgot to give my sis.in .law's water (it first came with a fly). He seemed more standoffish than anything. I probably would go back here if I'm ever in the mood for BBQ in the Napa area... which I guarantee would be rare.
(4)Arlynn A.
Ive been here twice and their Sunday's fried chicken wont fail you. Every day they have a special, but the best day to go is on a Sunday or Monday. Their biscuits w/ honey is off the HOOK! you can make reservations on opentable.com =) Service is great!

I promised to add a star when they added cocktails, and there you go, +1 star because YAY COCKTAILS! I really do like this place a lot. It's not on the top of any of my "you gotta try this" lists, but the food is quite good, the service is attentive, the atmosphere is pleasant and it's just in general a very nice spot to have lunch or dinner.

Omg, i don't know where to begin. First of all, i have to start by saying that I wish this place was in San Francisco. Coming back from Calistoga, we were starving for something delicious. Especially after all that wine tasting!. My husband heard about this place so he wanted to try it out. We came in mid - day and it wasn't so busy, so it was perfect. He ordered the brisket and I ordered the vinegar chicken. We waited for the chicken for a while. I started to become kind of anxious and pretty impatient. The waiters were great and came around and kept saying that its worth the wait and will be right out! I told them that had it stated the wait time on the menu, i would never have ordered it. Let me just say, thank god that the wait time wasnt on the menu because that chicken was THE BEST tasting chicken i have EVER HAD in MY LIFE. Usually after we eat something, i say, hmmmm, i can make this at home. Not with this dish. The sauce, the moisture , the flavor, seasoning, crispy skin and the plain white rice on the side was the most perfect marriage of flavors!! Dont get me started on the bbq sauces on the side! This place is simply amazing. Whoever the chef is needs a platinum medallion. Thank you so much,, i will never forget this meal! Oh yea! and the brisket! Moist, tender, falling apart goodness with the side of horseradish sauce was simply divine. I cant wait til we are in Napa again so that we can come back to this place!

So to end our full Napa day trip, we came to BarBersQ for dinner before heading home. After spending the day doing some vigorous sale-day shopping at the Napa outlets, we had definitely worked up a roaring appetite. This place is really cute inside, it totally doesn't look like it belongs in a strip mall!! Our service was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the ambiance is very nice. Everyone is so friendly there, both the staff and the customers... we made pleasant chatter with both the tables next to us throughout our meal. We ate 4 dishes (2 appetizers, 2 entrees) ranging from healthy (Bloomsdale spinach salad) to unhealthy (Joey Ray's pimento cheese dip) and all were soooo tasty! There wasn't a morsel left between the two of us! I also found a new favorite IPA beer there! Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA! Yay for BarBersQ!!
(4)MC L.
This place could've been a 5 star, but my husband and I experienced bad service. We came here right when it opened and the service was perfect until our waiter's friends came and our waiter COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT US! Thank God for the bus girl or else we wouldn't have had our drinks filled. Great food, terrible waiter.
(3)Amihan M.
Really wanted to like this place since it's conveniently located and a little nicer than Red Rock. Service was good but the food was sadly lacking. We ordered The Taste of Q which has is pretty much a sampler of all their bbq meats. What can I say, they were all dry and not fresh. Not sure if it was an off day, but that was the experience. The one thing I liked about the place was the different sauces they offer. So that's what the extra star is for. But even the tasty sauce options can't save the dishes.
(3)Eileen R.
Very well prepared meat. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Delicious.

We were in town for a seminar and I found myself with an entire day to fill. Undaunted, I headed first for a good bout of shopping (Napa has some great consignment stores!) and then lunch. After seeing some great reviews for BarBersQ's mac and cheese, I headed there and nabbed a table outside as it was a lovely day. Kindle in hand, I relaxed and enjoyed the sunny afternoon, eavesdropped in on other patrons conversations, and all in all soaked in the happy Friday afternoon vibe. You want details? Here they are. My server, Michael, was phenomenal. Only one small demerit and that could have been due to the back of the house, but no worries either way. I was greeted, seated, and served promptly. He went over the two specials and when I asked for his recommendation between two dishes I was considering, he gave me his opinion - which was spot-on. My only beef was that I specifically asked for a fork with my to-go order and when I checked the bag back at the car, alas, no fork. Otherwise, truly great service. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I was torn between that and the fried chicken sandwich (and so now, of course, I have to come back to try that one as well...). Michael asked if I'd had the pulled pork before and after learning that I had not, suggested it. The sandwich arrived and was accompanied by a simply-dressed salad that included freshly-sliced apples. I was so enamored of the darn salad that I polished if off before even glancing at the sandwich. Onto the main event. I was presented with several different types of BBQ sauce to accompany my meal and I tried two of the three - both were delicious! The soft potato roll complemented the juicy pieces of pulled pork and cole slaw - a wonderful combination. The sandwich disappeared far too quickly. Afterward, I ordered a side of mac and cheese to go (with fork). As mentioned, it came sans fork so I couldn't try a bite while it was piping hot and fresh (I have a mac and cheese blog and review such things). I did, however, nab a photo and I was able to try a bite when I returned to our hotel. Gooood, gooey stuff, and it tasted like it had perhaps a hint of mayo in it. My hubs polished off the rest and declared it quite good. I'll be back for the fried chicken sandwich!

A little on the pricey side, but good food nonetheless. A mistake was made on our order and they corrected it without even being prompted, taking a little more time than stated. To make up for the delay, we received complimentary cornbread which was delicious and I'm not that big on cornbread.

My friends and I went here for a group party. We had reservations and they gave us a set menu. When we arrived at 6:30 for our dinner, we were sat immediately but didn't get our first appetizer until 7:30. If they already knew the menu items they choose for us, I don't see why it would take one full hour to get a salad out. After that, the dinner didn't come until another hour. The food was really good but I don't know if it was because we were starving or because it was decent. I would come back again but not as a group. The server was friendly although as someone who's worked in the restaurant business, I would have been more impressed if she communicated to us more about the status of our food and drinks. I would recommend coming here but with less people.

Delicious BBQ and reasonably priced. We've been a few times and have never been disappointed in the food or service. Halloween night, the employees were dressed as various Walking Dead cast members -all Very Friendly- and instead of typical bread and butter while you wait, we had an unexpected treat of popcorn sprinkled with truffle.

Who Knew that a girl from Oakland would have to go to Napa for Great Barbeque? Hard to believe but oh so true. BarBersQ has become my favorite go to place in Napa for a fun drink at the Bar and the knowledge that whatever you order will taste just great! The Baby Back Ribs are delish and if you're lucky, the St Louis Ribs will be available that day! The Barbecue Shrimp over sour dough toast is AMAZING and you MUST eat all of the toast (whether you want to or not...it's too good not to)...Chicken is moist and yummy and although I've not had the Fried Chicken Special, I understand it's an all time favorite. Lolly & Dolly love the Dog Friendly outside patio and especially how they get served their ice cold water immediately upon arrival!

Decided to eat here on 8/20/12. The food was decent, the service not so good. We ordered glasses of wine to start. For the main entree, we ordered the Taste of Q for two, which is a sampling of their meats and instead of coleslaw, because I am not a fan of mayonaise based coleslaws, we substituted the butter lettuce salad. For our sides, we ordered collard greens and the Pinquito Beans. We also sat on the patio, which was ok, had to fight the fly population a bit. Our server was a bit forgetful. Once our food came out, she brought out the main entree with the side of coleslaw...we had to remind her of the substitution. Of the Taste for Q for Two, the chicken, the sausage, the brisket and the ribs were good. The chicken was nicely smoked, the brisket was tender and the ribs were succulent and flavorful! The sausage was also tasty, a bit spicy. I did not enjoy the pulled pork, which was a bit tough. The greens had a bit too much vinegar on them. The beans were flavorful, garnished with a bit salsa and were seasoned well. Unfortunately, our salad came almost at the tail end of our meal. We ate some of it and asked for the salad and the rest of our food, to be packed up. We did order dessert. We ordered the Strawberry Shortcake. The shortcake wasn't as exciting as I expected. It had a soft cookie texture and contained the sweetened, slightly masurated strawberries. I appreciated not eating strawberry mush.. We will return again in the future to try different items...all was not lost.

They got their shit together. Food is ready when they say it will be, and still the best fried chicken in Napa Valley. Now I have only barely enough time to phone the order in, drive there, enjoy a PBR at the bar, and boom the bucket is ready to go.

I took my Mom here for Mother's Day in an attempt making amends with this restaurant. My Mom said, "The food is okay."

Five stars for some of the tenderest beef brisket and delicious baby back ribs ever, and collard greens of perfection: sweet, saucy, smokey, tart, and just right in the mouth. Fries were killer. All in a clean, modern, sophisticated but casual setting, with extra-competent waiters. It's not quite bargain at $12 a sandwich or $18 for a combo meal, but in typical barbecue fashion portions are huge, if everyone orders their own plate you'll be taking a lot home. There's also some other "heritage" food like fish and chips, cobb salad, and stuff, for people who want solid American but not the meat. A word of warning - this is in a strip mall next to a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and such, which is kind of ridiculous considering it's the middle of Napa, one of the most beautiful counties on Earth. That's almost enough to scare you away, but unless you absolutely have to eat your barbecue in a smokey rickety old barn by a railroad track with chickens outside, just go for it! A few months ago the opening chef left but everything seems to be on cue, I guess once you get the procedures down it's all good. I almost dinged them a star for their sauces though, three nice and tasty homemade barbecue sauces, but all of them were too sweet for my taste and could have been seasoned more carefully.

BarBersQ is located in a shopping strip right in Napa town and close to a Whole Foods. It's a bit hard to find as the signage only says "Q" instead of the entire name of the restaurant - we found it nonetheless. We sat outside and had a large group of 8 with 4 pups with us and they were very accommodating with dog bowls of water and shifting our reservation up a bit earlier. The outside, even though it was facing the street, felt very private and intimate. We tried the ceviche (just ok), mac n cheese (very good!), and bbq oysters (good) for appetizers. For main dishes, all the meats seemed to be pretty juicy (sausages, grilled chicken, ribs, pulled pork). I also had a taste of the pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken sandwich. The pulled pork seemed to stand out the most to me. The fun part was their house-made bbq sauces - there are several types and they have suggestions for each of the different meats that you order. We also tried the key lime pie - YUM. Overall, a really great experience. Just don't go thinking it's a down and dirty bbq place, it's shiny and pretty...but still very yummy.

Have eaten here several times over the past couple of years and it's been very good to just okay. Can be packed with kids and loud, so ambiance isn't the greatest. Service is usually good. Today I had the Creole BBQ Shrimp -- the shrimp were mostly well-cooked (a couple were overcooked), but the BBQ sauce has way too much Worcestershire sauce in it (in my view). The rice is nothing special, just a lump of somewhat sticky white rice. Overall, the dish was fine but not good enough for me to order again. I have had ribs here -- once on a Sunday (as a special) with a sweeter BBQ sauce than the one that's on the regular menu (I see that they now have fried chicken on Sundays) and they were outstanding. Fall off the bone and lovely sticky/sweet sauce. I've also had the ribs off the regular menu and I didn't like the sauce as well and the meat was a bit tough and not fall off the bone. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich tonight, which he really enjoyed -- although admittedly he put so much extra BBQ sauce on it he said it would have been good had the meat been cardboard. The butter lettuce salad with the sandwich was nice. We'll continue to eat here from time to time.

This place sucks. Food is horrible and their famous fried chicken tastes like Shake n bake. Only thing worth eating if you are forced to eat here is the pulled pork.

Found this restaurant rather quickly before going to a winery then back to La. Customer service here, excellent. Nice decor, and very clean with nice playing jazz/ r&b playing. The organic deviled eggs were very smooth, and the wings were sweet with a bite at the end. Dad loved his grilled custom plate, bro loved his burger (but not the home pickles= personal problem in my opinion). The one thing I have to say kept it from being a perfect 5 stars was the collard greens: I believed they could put less vinegar and cooked the greens a bit longer. Next time in Napa, I'm so coming back.

I loved this place. The moment I stepped in the door I knew I made the right choice. It was clean, very presentable, and very very friendly. We had their BBQ sampler and it was spectacular. The brisket were me and my wife's favorite and the wings were also good. They had a variety of sauces to offer which was, in my honest opinion, were not that great. But the flavors were definitely there that you will not really need it. I am a hot sauce/hot foods kind of guy so their lack of a real good hot sauce was the only small part I didn't like. As for the dessert. My wife literally wolfed down their special vanilla ice cream with rum cherry if Im not mistaken. She loved it so much that she would have consumed it with a straw if she could. And who could blame her I would have done the same thing.

There is no better place to sit outside and wile away the day with your favorite canine companion! They bring your pooch a nice water bowl and take good care of you. love this spot. . .one of my favorites! Must orders are the mac n cheese, wedge salad and BBQ platter. . .if only they had cots around the back for a nap!
(5)Lisa N.
I ordered the Sunday Fried Chicken special. My fiance ordered the Pulled pork BBQ sandwich. The fried chicken came with collard greens and mashed potatoes and gravy along with four pieces of chicken. The chicken was moist and good, but not the best. The best is me having had Roscoes. Anyways, it was good chicken but the price was too high. It was $16.95 for 4 pieces of okay chicken. The collard greens were nasty. THe mash and gravy was okay. You definitely need to put the vinegar pepper sauce on the chicken. It brings out the flavor. The pulled pork sandwich was okay. It wasn't good but wasn't bad either. The waiters were good with refilling drinks. Good customer service. Okay food.

We loved this place. My husband and I were in Napa for the Napa Valley Marathon last weekend. I wasn't sure how crowded restaurants would be near the race hotel, so I made a reservation. That probably wasn't necessary for a party of two. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich, I had the crab salad and we shared the chocolate bundt cake. Both entries were great. The bundt cake was absolutely amazing! I am salivating now just thinking about it. I have to admit I was a little shocked at how awesome this place was given its strip mall location. Don't judge a book by it's cover!

I don't think this place is a secret, per se, but when I visit Napa, I don't expect to find stellar restaurants such as BarBersQ in a strip mall. You know when you overhear another diner telling the waiter that she thought the food was better than what she had at Gary Danko's last weekend, you're in for some good eats. We ambled into Q last weekend around 9 pm and had no trouble getting a table. We chose to sit outside, which, normally in a strip mall setting, would leave you with a less than scenic view of the parking lot. Not so at BarBersQ though; they have set up thick, green shrubbery around the perimeter of the outdoor seating area, to make it more intimate, and even easy to forget that on the other side of that green wall, there's a Target parking lot. Neither my boyfriend nor I ordered cocktails because we were doing the Tour de Cure bicycle ride the next day, but that didn't mean that both of us didn't earmark drinks we'd want to try next time! The vinegar chicken is unbelievably tender and juicy, and I'm not sure if the sides change periodically or not, but mine came with sticky rice and snap peas that really completed the whole plate. There was more than enough food to warrant a sizable doggy bag (and full disclosure, I'm enjoying the hell out of my leftovers as I type this!). My boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich, which he seemed to enjoy. I had a bite, but honestly, with the awesome flavors rocking on my own plate, his sandwich didn't hold a candle to what I had going on. SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT. This deserves all-caps, as I would probably marry their key lime pie with its delicious, crumbly graham cracker crust, if it was legal. You are going to have a lot of trouble here if you're a vegetarian (the only things I remember seeing that were vegetarian on the regular menu were the grilled artichoke and the grilled cheese sandwich), and just forget it if you're a vegan. This is a meat-centric kind of place, and proud of it.
(5)Duncan H.
Food is good. Had the Sample Platter for two. The Chicken is good, and mostly moist. The sausage was average, but by far the RIbs were the best. It fell of the bone and it wasn't very messy eating it; it was tender. The dessert were ok. For a BBQ place this is actually quite good, and the food isn't full of grease like some other BBQ joints I've been to. It's a good place overall, would definitely go back. If you want better dessert for around the same price range, Uva has better desserts, but that's Italian.
(4)M S.
Ordered salad and tots to go and was sadly disappointed. The salad was sopped with dressing while the tots were spiced to the 9's! Dressing on the side please and go eaaasssyy on the tots!
(2)Farkhanda Z.
quite good! Their lamb burger was DELISH! Fries are awesome. Portions are small. Wish their food wasnt as salty, but it's definitely tasty.
(4)Chrisy Y.
LOVE this place. It's perfect for big groups, families, friend hangouts, or dates! The BBQ pork sandwich never fails. Nor do the BBQ ribs, or burger with avacado.... I've had almost everything (not really)! Definitely look forward to coming here everytime I come back to Napa.

I came upon BarBersQ while leaving the whole foods market a couple weeks ago. It was a little hard to see what they were because of the tenting in the front, I didn't realize there was a restaurant there. I went home and checked out the menu online and was intrigued. My girlfriend and I decided to visit and overall I it was a very good experience. They had a big seafood special going on which looked absolutely delicious, but we were both in the mood for barbeque and the prices were pretty good so we went for the pulled pork and the bbq brisket. Both were presented very nicely and were a good amount of food. The meat was very tender and the quality was good. You are given a selection of 3 sauces you can add to the sauce already on your dish, which I thought was great. I would say the food was a 4/5, the only thing that got me was the vinegar taste of the bbq, I found it to be rather strong and really overtook the sweetness of the sauce. I am not sure if thier sauce is always that strong, if it is I would probably shy away from some of the dishes, but I'm hoping that it was just that way that night. We also had some chicken soup which I thought was really good and great for a colder night. Very nice experience and setting, plenty of room on the patio if they are crowded inside and the pricing is very competitive.

Rating: 3.5 You'd think this being a barbecue joint I would order ribs or pulled pork but I had heard they had fried chicken and I NEVER pass up fried chicken. My 4 pieces of Southern fried chicken arrived with a side of collard greens and mashed potatoes. The chicken was hot with a light crispy skin that had a hint of sweetness. Compared to competing fowl I'd put it above Ad Hoc but just below Boon Fly's versions. It comes with a vinegar hot sauce that looks more intimidating than it is. It actually could be hotter. Although it's not located in the most prime location (in a strip mall sandwiched between a Target and a Whole Foods) I'd go back in a heartbeat.

What a disappointment. There was only two other occupied tables when we arrived. It took the host almost three minutes to ask if he could help us. We were seated & asked for water. Five minutes the water arrived but didn't ask for our order. Ten minutes later the bus girl comes back to tell us the server is busy but will be here soon. We told her we knew what we wanted so she reluctantly took our order. Fifteen minutes later the server came out with the BBQ sauces & explains what each one was. Five more minutes & we get our pulled pork sandwiches. Now u am no BBQ expert but I know what I like. This was greasy & bland. The sauce (tried 3 of them) was runny & overpowering. Ten minutes after we were finished, the bus girl picks up the plates & asks about dessert - I think not!!! Twelve minutes later the server brings the bill & doesn't ask how everything was - probably a good thing. Five more minutes & he comes back. Five more minutes & he returns. According to the receipt, the order was placed at 2:13 & the credit card was swiped at 2:57. Sad but true. I'm glad we weren't starving or in a hurry. Cross this place off the list!

A gem in a strip mall! I had the Combo of brisket & pulled pork. Yum! The Mrs had fried chicken sandwich (special) and loved it! Very recommended!

Best Southern Fried Chicken. Ever. Period. OMG, I've never had anything taste better than their fried chicken. Luckily, on Mondays, their special is a 10 piece bucket with mashed potato, and cole slaw. We also ordered mac and cheese and brussel sprouts as sides, as well as the "Q for 2" (ribs, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, and brisket). I couldn't stop eating the fried chicken and the mac and cheese. Both so amazing. The chicken had a light crispy texture and was super moist. Hello. You're so mine. The mac and cheese tasted like my home made version. Oh yes, the Root Boor Float as dessert is the BOMB. Premium ice cream with premium root beer and a side of home made peanut brittle. Need I say more? I didn't care for the ribs, BBQ chicken, pulled pork, etc. It is all about the fried chicken here. Enough said. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the fried chicken, mac and cheese, and the root beer float.
(4)Ian C.
Its definitely nice to have an upscale BBQ restaurant in Napa. Nice atmosphere inside the restaurant or out on the large patio. They are always playing good music. The service is casual, knowledgeable, and always friendly. The menu is full of tasty choices that will make your mouth water. There house made BBQ sauces are flavorful and the meat is always cooked right. I've tried many things off the menu and have left satisfied and full every time. Its Memphis style BBQ with a Napa flare.
(4)Stephen N.
Can't remember how the food tasted at all and my friends wouldn't be able to tell you either.... Limo+Champagne/Beers+Napa Wineries = Guaranteed Black OUT! But they didn't kick us out, served us food when we were probably acting like delinquents... so 4 stars for you BarBersQ! We chos ethis place because we could make reservations.
(4)Lorraine P.
Somewhat hidden in the Bel Air shopping center but well worth the search. The staff is outstanding in attitude and service. The fried chicken sandwich was one of the best I had and my husband had the wings. Great find for bar-b-q as well. Also serve beer and wine.
(5)Wendy T.
Loved loved loved their Southern fried ck with the chilly infused dipped vinegar!! Their baked Oysters was very nice too. Hubby loves their pork chop but too bad it didn't come with any sauce.... The choc sundae was too DIE for!!! Double Rainbow vanilla bean ice cream smoothered with heavenly chocolate goodness and crunch candied pecans and toasted almonds and get this - brandy infused cherry liquer!!! YUMMO.... Don't really care for their pulled pk or ribs.... Will be curious to try their famous vinegar ck, but portion is automatically for 2-4 ppl for $30 and also their rootbeer float. Closed early at 8:30, wuzzup with that??
(4)Eric H.
Good food and an attentive staff. The Q was good, especially the ribs. We had the sampler platter so that we could try everything they had and it was a very good decision for a newcomer to the restaurant. They even represented North Carolina there with a little vinegar based Q and sauce. However they did have the more traditional tomato based Q and sauces as well. The best part, both were tasty. The place rounded it all out well by being somewhat upscale for a BBQ place and the staff was very attentive as well. All in all I recommend this place to anyone in the Napa area looking for a more hearty meal without a hearty price attached.
(4)Matthew K.
This place doesn't look like much. its in a shopping center not very eye-catching. It was a lovely surprise for lunch. The decor and ambiance inside is not at all what you would expect from its outside appearance. The staff was great, very hospitable and fun. The food here is amazing. One of my favorite stops this trip. Its all very fresh and mostly locally sourced. except i think one thing comes from Oregon. The Rancho Gordo red beans and rice with Caggiano ham hocks was just stupid good and the Mac & Cheese was one of the best i have had anywhere.

Good but concerned!... I have been a fan of BarbersQ for a few years now. I always thought it was one of the most underrated places in the valley and it's been my go-to. I am concerned that they may be making changes for the worst though and I would be so disappointed if this restaurant starts to cut corners and is taking a turn for the worse. They have increased their awesome chicken soup by 3 dollars! Went from 8 to 11. That's huge. I ordered it to-go (it's the best when you are starting to get sick) and they didn't even include the crisps with them or anything. Their Parmesan cheese seemed like lesser quality as well. Mac n cheese is really great. Although, it needs to be eaten right away. The cheese they use begins to separate and it can't be reheated well if you take it home. Sunday night fried chicken dinners are wonderful. (unless they are raising the price on that too....) Wedge salad is good. They do dress it with A LOT of dressing though, so you may want it on the side. Fried chicken sandwich isn't good. Not worth it. No chicken sandwich can compare to Bakesale Betty's in Oakland though. BEST EVER! Their burger isn't worth going for either. The meat is good but their homemade pickles are awful. Terrible texture. Not good! If they kept it classic with lettuce, tomato, etc it would be good. Front of the house servers didn't seem to communicate with the back of the house chefs last time either. Called in an order 20 minutes ahead of time, I was told it could be ready in 10 but they would hold off for a 20 minute pick up. I got there and they hadn't started making it yet. Poor communication...wasn't impressed. Bottom line is, I have been going to this place for a while and have always been happy except for the last 2-3 times because of price increases, lack of attention in the kitchen, and some possible quality cut backs. I sure hope that this isn't the case and they can keep up with their popularity without cutting corners and overcharging for a bowl of soup. I'm taking a break from this restaurant for a while and hope they can get it back to what it's been...
(3)Robert H.
A friendly but inept waitstaff A pitiful excuse for a pulled pork sandwich A hamburger burned beyond recognition Mediocre sauces The "Q" was "quite" a disappointment
(2)Brski B.
I've eaten here a few times now. Still good. Ribs quite meaty. Beans kind of blah. No more potato salad. Brisket okay. One star less.
(3)Isa C.
My boyfriend and I chose it after some Yelp reviews, and it was through Yelp that we made the reservation on OpenTable. I really like that I was able to do that because I wasn't sure what the situation at the restaurant was like. I was craving steak, and they happened to have my favorite cut on the menu that day for their Steak and Fries. Steak was done perfectly, seasoned well, and the fries were very good. My husband ordered a grill combo, chicken and sausage with potato salad. He has quite the discerning palate, and he enjoyed it. The server even had the kitchen get him another link when he said the first one was a little dry. Oh, and be sure to get the Napa Smith Ale - very good recommendation from the server as well, they know their stuff. oh, and an extra star for their house made sauce. very well done for the price range!
(4)Bertha F.
Went here for the first time about a month ago. The food was delish! The mac n cheese is the best I've had! No complaints about the food, the meat was super tender and delish. Only downside is the location- it sucks. I work at a hotel and so I want to recommend good places to eat- and this is great but I also know tourists want to go to a place with views, etc. Otherwise love this place!
(4)M M.
I love this place......the staff is friendly.....the wine list sensational and the food is always cooked to perfection.....their nightly specials are delicious......especially the st. louis style ribs....(thursday night).....yum yum.......
(5)Jasmine G.
Tasty meats and good ambiance.

So, I tried this place twice over a period of three days, once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is Okay and the service is spotty. Some of the waiting staff is fantastic while others have ATTITUDE. Two thumbs down, over priced for the level of food.
(2)Alexis A.
The first time I went here, I was in love. But this past visit wasn't as great. I ordered the Taste of Q for two, cornbread, and Cherry Smash cocktail. The taste of Q came with sausage, ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and coleslaw for $36. The sausage was pretty good & slightly spicy. The ribs were average. The brisket was nice and tender but dry and lacking in flavor. The chicken lacked flavor as well. The pulled pork was nice and tender and the sauce was pretty good. The slaw was crisp and sweet. I never eat coleslaw, but I made an exception for Q's slaw. The cornbread was delicious! It was sweet and the butter that accompanied it, only made the bread more tasty. The Cherry Smash may sound like a girly drink - its anything but girly. It was made with Maker's Mark burbon, Angostura bitters, lime juice, mint, and housemade cherry syrup. The drink was pretty strong, but tasted awful! The only thing I could taste was the burbon and lime juice...Yuck! Our waitress was fantastic though (Elizabeth?). She is very sweet and checked on us several times to make sure everything was ok.

Gourmet barbecue -- that sounds about as oximoronic as "gourmet donuts" from Donuts du Jour in Los Altos -- but its the best way to describe the place. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was very flavorful, the bun house made and tasty cole slaw. I wished there was a bit more slaw on the bun, but maybe that's just a personal preference. I wished my waiter had suggested fries on the side. The next table was thoroughly enjoying their and I would have found room for it if I had realized earlier. The next table was also enjoying brisket and baby back ribs combo plate. The barbecue sauces also showed respect for the q. They had a Carolina sweet vinegar based, a hot and a mild Memphis style. Meanwhile back at the bar area, the owners and chef were huddling around tasting various steaks with different marinades trying to decide what to make as an upcoming special. Apparently the chef is Memphis train -- and it shows. I washed it all down with a Navarro pinot noir at $9 a glass. Anyone who offers Navarro wines without gauging is top notch in my book. While the outdoor seating area is relaxing, its a major drawback to me that they are situated in the middle of a strip mall. It may be an upscale one with Whole Foods and all, but its still a high traffic area overlooking a parking lot.
(4)Dave G.
We enjoyed a wonderful Alaskan salmon and an open face pull pork sandwich the other night. Overall, great good and service at one our favorite Napa restaurants. Locals have an extensive choice of culinary delights in Napa, and BarbersQ is always at the top of their list. Don't let the location, in a shopping center next to Whole Foods, fool you. This is one of those neighborhood gems and friends of ours drive from all around the Bay Area to eat at BarbersQ. Great Memphis-style BBQ with wonderful fish specials usually available. Service is very friendly and good. Wine list is very good and there are some gems to be had at reasonable prices. You can choose to dine alfresco, weather permiting on their private patio. Large screen TVs at the bar for sports fans. Highly recommended for locals and visitors.
(4)Kari S.
I finally went here after hearing people rave about the place. I just tend to forget it's tucked back in the parking lot. I asked our server what was the most popular item, and at his suggestion, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that was topped with coleslaw on a very soft bun. The little gem salad with mandolin sliced apples was a big hit at our table. My partner had the beef brisket and really enjoyed it. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and even kept cleaning up the wrappers from the sweetener for my iced tea. The decor is very nice. Not your typical BBQ joint. Lots of chrome and shiny things. The doors were open and the sun was shining and it was the perfect setting. I'd say pass on the cornbread. Ours was dry and it's really not worth spending money on it when they have so many other tasty items on the menu. Plus you won't need it with their portion sizes.
(4)Katie W.
I am a Full On BBQer Supporter, get me some pom poms, hand me my skirt. For me, sure, meat is good - but I am ultimately after the cornbread. Is it sweet? Is it crunchy? Does it feature jalapeno jewels? Whatever the flair, I am 'bout it. BarBersQ? it's crunchy outer, soft, textured inside with whipped honey butter for spreading. Best of ALL cornbread facets, and I was slaphappy. Ok, so cornbread aside, this place does have 3 more kick ass things; 1. wine list 2. side dishes 3. the MEAT 4. atmosphere Shit - that's 4. You won't go thirsty, there's beer, there's wine. And Honey, that wine list is fine. Side dishes. BBQ is first and foremost their protein preparation, but the side dishes can make or break your meal. Crispy, never greasy shoestring fries, collard greens and roasted asparagus will keep your palate pleased. Meat. Juicy, succulent and flavorful - and I got the PORK CHOP y'all. Famous for being tough and dry - and there was NONE o that going on here. With choices like pulled pork or mini lamb burgers, steak and brisket, all the Carnivores of Napa will never go hungry again. If you wanna be snobby, and let them eat cake? Chocolate Peanut Butter. That's right. I didn't stutter.
(4)Kelly S.
I love the combo with ribs and sausage. The coleslaw has just the right hint of sweet. The service is warm friendly and attentive. I would stop anytime I am in the napa area! And you can bring your dog and sit on the patio!
(5)Noelle L.
The fried chicken sandwich is soooo good! That tends to be the only thing I get at this restaurant, as nothing else on the menu really calls to me. It's a bit overpriced, but there's nothing really like it in Napa...especially on this side of town.
(4)Rex S.
Cool vibe. Friendly and attentive service. Food is pretty good, but expensive for what it is. Nice, locally oriented wine list. Vinegar chicken is pretty tasty.
(4)Wendy B.
I love BarBersQ and try to grab a meal there whenever I'm up in wine country. This last visit was not as pleasant as previous visits. There were loud children and food on the floor. The food was amazing but dessert could not be homemade--it tasted too dense and it was too much work to get through. I highly recommend going later in the evening or for a late lunch to avoid the kid thing. Food is amazing just avoid dessert.
(4)Ricky C.
I was expecting something a little less commercial, and not in a Whole Foods shopping center. Food was decent but not the best I have had in the Napa area. Seating is not ideal, small inside but a nice patio - weather permitting.

I see you drivin' 'round town with the guy I love And I'm like, forget you (ooh) I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough I'm like, forget you and forget her too...at BARBERSQ! - Megan Nicole (forget you cover) Yelp has failed me on this one. I'm not sure if it was the time of day or time of week but many things went wrong here and it takes a lot for me to be critical of a place (95% of my reviews are positive). First off, i came here for the fried chicken special, which i found out is not available until 5 pm. There goes the reason i came to this place. If the reviews say to get the fried chicken, and its only available 2 days a week after 5 pm, there is something wrong with that. Also, the orders took foreverrrr to come even though there was probably only 3 other very small groups in the restaurant. No bread to start off of in a restaurant in napa? where the heck am i, not even napa, just any decent american restaurant would have some kind of bread. I wouldn't have even cared if the food came in a timely matter, but so much waiting - omg. Then i actually asked them whats taking so long and it was because of a basted chicken and some oysters. Unless they were catching the free range chicken in the backyard AFTER we ordered, there's no wayyyy it should've taken that long. And oysters? what kind of prep work is that in the back, its like they had nothing prepared and didn't have anyone in the back who knew how to shuck oysters?? When the food came, the ribs were quite dry and considering half of us ordered the ribs, that is not acceptable. They are lucky they had an 18% gratuity included in the bill, because I'm not sure i would've went over 10% flat, which is like minimum - thats like me leaving no tip at 10% lol. Well played BarBersQ! Food: 3 stars, took too long and for a place named after bbq, didn't fulfill its job with the ribs Service: 2 stars, amateur attempt - when we ask for extra plates when the only thing out is a tomato salad, we aren't sharing a tomato salad. Then you take away all the plates after the tomato salad is done without replacing them, makes no sense, why would we share a tomato salad...i'm not even sure the waiter came around to refill the water at any time Atmosphere: 3 stars, the place itself was nice but there were 2 flys buzzing around the indoor tables, which is unacceptable for a restaurant like this Price: 3 stars, for napa it isn't expensive at all, for a good dining experience, it has failed for the price, and its not even close. I'm giving this place 2 stars to bring down the average that yelpers has instilled. Giving it a 3 would still be generous on my part, and that would strictly be on the food itself without any other factors. Keep in mind, i have normally very positive reviews on places and round up my ratings, this one does not justify i do any of that.

Go for the fried chicken and mac and cheese! Ribs are $17 for half slab or $30 for full rack.

Great service. Good selection of BBQ. The Mac and cheese was great. We had the cornbread, burger and pulled pork and all were excellent. Great atmosphere.

A great place for high end but good ol' Southern comfort food. Always well prepared locally sourced menu. Staff and Mgmt are just as comforting as their food. The restaurant has elegance and great ambiance.

I've been coming to BarbersQ since they opened, and it's always been a wonderful experience. A supremely upbeat and courteous staff... fresh, delicious food... an airy and clean casual atmosphere (somehow, the lighting is just always perfect)... fair prices. I still remember my first meal here, when, after my first bite of the butter lettuce salad (that comes with the pulled pork sandwich), I insisted that my companion try it immediately -- because it was delicious, crisp, and so perfectly dressed! And I've continued to be impressed ever since... with their pulled pork, fried chicken, beans, brisket, gumbo, key lime pie... Never a hasty or incorrect preparation. And I can't get enough of their Carolina-style vinegar bbq sauce. Definitely the most consistent restaurant that I've found in the valley.

Very good BBQ. My friend and I shared the sample plater and that was a good amount of food. All of it was tasty and the service was friendly. It's a nice place to go if you want to get away from the stuffy restaurants around Napa. My one complaint (and it's minor) is that the mac and cheese was a little too creamy for my taste. All and all it was a great restaurant and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes good BBQ.

OK, in the interest of fair play, I'm revising my earlier 3-star review. My wife had received a gift card for BarBersQ so while we shopped in the Bel Aire mall yesterday with our 8 month-old son, we figured we'd give it another shot. And so we were seated quickly and cooperatively, at a table of our choosing away from most of the other guests in case our son got a little crabby. The hostess was also very accommodating with the high chair and getting us all set up and comfortable. The service, so far, was excellent. My wife and I ordered repeats of our original visit about a year ago; lamb burgers for her, half a slab of ribs for me. We split an order of fries. My wife thought that her lamb burgers were good. On the other hand, I thought my ribs were much better than my previous visit, and the spicy BBQ sauce must have been improved some, because I quite enjoyed what they had offered. The fries were also great, but were really an afterthought in my book...think "crispier In-N-Out fries". All the while our son happily & quietly munched Cheerios and smiled at the waitstaff. Thank GOD he behaves well at restaurants! At any rate, we left satisfied, and only $36 lighter on the gift card (minus tip, of course). We'll be returning for the fried chicken on Sundays because it appeared to us that EVERYONE ELSE seemed to have ordered it...and it looked pretty damned good. Again: not the best BBQ I've had, but a much-improved experience from our prior visits.

I am a frequent diner at BarbersQ, and I always come away satisfied. I've had nearly everything on the menu and there are certainly a few standouts. The sunday/monday special of fried chicken is absolutely amazing. It's the best fried chicken I've ever eaten, and when combined with their signature pepper vinegar it forms a taste that's hard to describe. Also, their crispy smoked chicken wings are the best I've had. These days I can't dine at the "Q" without ordering some of these for the table - they're just that good. Other suggested items include the vinegar chicken, pulled pork sandwich and the chicken soup. Overall, both the food and the service are excellent. You can't go wrong with a night out at BarbersQ.

What you are primarily paying for at a BBQ restaurant is for someone else to take the time to do the slow cooking that you don't have the time and tools for, and hopefully you also get some culinary mastery of barbecue as well. To their credit, some of the food was cooked well. My baby backs were meaty, had a nice smoke ring, and were tender from low and slow cooking. The cole slaw was very tasty with overtones of crisp apple. Our waiter was nice. That's about the only good things I have to say about this place. Here is a list of why I won't return to this restaurant: -second year in row (first time was "take out") that it took them over 45 minutes to fill my order, which was pre-cooked/prepared food and french fries. Ironically, after waiting nearly an hour to get my food, the french fries were cold. Seriously? -cold fries, cold pulled-pork, sauced in the kitchen (why give me a sauce caddy if you are going to choose my sauce for me?) No reputable barbecue joint serves its meats slathered in sauce. This is so obvious I am not even going to elaborate. -noise level. Ever been to the Miami beach club scene? With the music thumping so loud that you can't hear what your dining party is saying even though they are sitting two feet from you? It was exactly like that. Combined with the long wait, I nearly walked out. -price/value I don't mind paying for a good food experience. The next day I spent over $475 at lunch for 8 people gladly. But when the food is mediocre, and the wait time for pre-cooked food suggests the customer is not important, then I guess I would have complained about the value at any price. But this place (maybe because it's in Napa) charges as if it were a fine dining establishment, and it is not. -lack of professionalism---I booked on OpenTable but when we walked in they weren't expecting us. Our server dropped off our check and didn't circle back to pick it up for 10 minutes. We could see him across the room bussing tables but he didn't look our way. And after spending an hour and a half there, we were ready to go. What Napa needs is a barbecue restaurant that focuses on food and customers. This is not that place.

Food is really good here, but the reason for just 3 stars is that many things are over-salted, especially the vegetable sides. When I asked for a less salty version, one of the staff members told me the owner likes things salty....so make sure to order "light salt" if you're interested in less sodium...... Prices are a bit high here, too....also, I spilled my wine (admittedly, my mistake) but the busboy cleaned it up and there was no mention of giving me just a little splash....so I was out $12 for a glass of wine

This restaurant is delicious and unpretentious. I started with the butter lettuce apple salad which was crisp, simple, and fresh. The crispy fried chicken sandwich here is pretty damn good. And I'm just going to say it, this is superior to Bakesale Betty in Berkeley. (Sorry if I offended some people.) Not only is it tastier, you get to sit at a table! I also like the variety of hot sauces.

Labor day weekend (sunday @ 6pm) reservation for party of 4 1/2 (2 year old son shared fried chicken), seated immediately. Initially service was slow, but after shift change things got much better. Yes, it's in a strip mall...something I usually avoid, but don't let it detract from the experience. As expected wine list is extensive, but expensive. $15 corkage fee w/a two bottle max per party FYI. I did enjoy the Frog's Leap offerings nevertheless. Starters: Conch Fritters--good flavor, better sauce w/tabasco-type dipping sauce Chicken Noodle Soup--AWESOME. Perfect flavor of homemade and fried chicken. highly recommend and will come back just for this in the future. Entrees: Hickory BBQ Burger--very good. Doesn't come w/a side so we ordered potato salad, which was different and nothing special (a little bland). Q Combo w/sausage & chicken--chicken had great flavor and sausage was good as well. Cole slaw as the side was also quite good. BBQ Chicken w/collared greens--great flavor, very moist. BBQ sauces provided were all noteworthy as well. Is a smoked chicken and this type of cooking can make the bird dry out, but not the case here. Fried Chicken w/collared greens & mashed potatoes/gravy--Chicken was awesome! Moist, flavorful (sage emphasis), and paired well w/the housemade 'pepper sauce'. Collared greens were a first for me, but I was told by my dining mates they were prepared well. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good; very much made from scratch there. Desserts: Sundae--big, definitely share. Ice cream was homemade, which is awesome. Otherwise, nothing crazy here, but really tasty. Whoopie pie--a bit cakey as the outside was concerned, but the marshmallow was great. Overall we'll definitely go back. Location not on par w/similarly tiered eateries in the area, but maybe that's a good thing to keep some people away!

We were just not impressed with this pricey, mediocre BBQ. $45 for two not very tasty glasses of wine, one "BarBeQue Chicken" dinner and a wedge salad. Since the $15.95 chicken was described in the menu as a "half chicken" with collard greens, we figured we 'ought to be able to split that and a Wedge salad ($9.50) for dinner. I don't know where that poor chicken was naturally ranging...but it had apparently had a partial masectomy and was missing a thigh. It was the opposite of plump and juicy and added up to more like a 1/3 of a chicken. Fortunately we'd taken our meal to go and had a few beef ribs leftover in the fridge that we'd bbq'd earlier in the week. From our interactions with the staff to the taste of the meal itself...all the way around BarBersQ was just not very good.

Had lunch there with a couple of friends and the place was definitely not busy at 12:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. After being seated we proceeded to watch the waitstaff and a manager named Kelly (I heard a waiter call her by name) walk around without smiles on their faces serving everyone else but our table. Finally, I had to get up and go get the waiter to tell him we were ready to order. The food was fine, nothing special. I had the fried chicken sandwich. The service was far from fine throughout the entire meal. No one ever came to ask us how things were after the food arrived. I couldn't even get someone to refill my water glass! Isn't it funny how no matter how much you like the atmosphere and the food, when you don't' receive good service it can ruin a meal and turn you away forever! Until the service improves dramatically and they get a manager who can smile and train their team to be attentive, I won't be back.

I was hoping for some great BBQ but when I got there, I was ignored for about five to ten minutes. My server came right out to me (which the place was very empty) and I asked for an Iced Tea. Another five minutes later I finally got my Iced Tea and asked for a glass of water too. The server seemed irritated? I thought a glass of water should come first. My server then asked if I was ready to order. I had to ask if there were any specials (at this point I was irritated). I was told, put in my order for their pulled pork sandwich. I heard it was their best! It came out cold. I didn't even bother asking for a new one because I only have an hour for lunch and it had already been 45 minutes. I wish I could have at least had a refill of my Iced Tea. I saw them refill a table close by. I just don't think I will go back. The consistency there is just not there even on a slow day for them. What a disappointment.

While Christmas shopping, the husband and I were hungry so we came to BarBersQ. The Yelp ratings looked good, so we thought we'd try it. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, which he said was fine, but he's had better. I had the wedge salad and holy cow. The bleu cheese was so overpowering- the dressing + the crumbled cheese on the salad was just too much. The bacon was at least a day old and with all the bleu cheese, I could barely taste it. Overall, it was fine, but we won't be back.

This is a very cool restaurant.. Too bad we picked the vinegar chicken over the fried chicken ( that they were famous for) nevertheless service was good (but patience is key)

This was a cute southern style restaurant with a California twist. Really well done, great food, great wine list, great service. We mentioned in our reservation notes that it was our anniversary and they took really good care of us.

What better way to soak up a stomach full of wine than some good ol' Bar-B-Que? After a hard day drinking our way through the Napa vineyards, our group decided to head over to BarBersQ to get our grub on. Being that my pinky was cramped from being hung out over a wine glass all day, I opted to tempt my tummy with the taste of hops and barley. Fortunately, I was presented with a decent bottled beer selection, including a few local brews; I went with the Napa Smith Amber. Service, on the whole, was good. Our waitress was attentive and seemed to come around at the right times. Although, I must say that there was so much upsell at this place, I figured at some point we would be presented with the option of upgrading to cloth napkins over paper. Onto the food front; I shared a Taste of the Q platter with one of my dining companions. The brisket was tasty, but it didn't make like M&M's and melt in my mouth. An angry knife was nearly put through my hand to stop my continued, absentminded consumption of the majority of the sausage, so that must have been pretty good. The chicken was cooked well and the pulled pork was probably the highlight meat on the plate. Going into dinner, I was really craving ribs and, sadly, these were the worst offering of the bunch. "Dry with heavy overtones of forgettableness."

Yummy Mac N' Cheese and pulled pork sammies.

Talk about your life changing experience... I went here with my best friend and her family for dinner on Sunday night and while our waiter was very nice and seemingly understanding of my dietary restrictions - vegetarian with a list of food allergies - and so carefully assisted me in selecting items which could be made meat and specifically "bacon free", imagine my surprise when the bottom of the dish of our order of brussels sprouts was literally coated in little pink niblets of BACON. Now, seeing as how I had never HAD bacon before, I didn't know that's what the peculiar flavor/seasoning was on the sprouts. Needless to say, I was absolutely horrified. Thank god I only ate a few before my suspicions got the better of me (I assumed an unclean sautee pan with a bacony residue and stopped eating them). We called him over and though he was apologetic ("I forgot to tell you there was bacon in the sprouts, I am sorry!), it was hardly a consolation, as not only am I vegetarian, but I am also Jewish, I keep kosher at home, and have never in my 36 years ever had bacon. Ever. Horrifying. My prize? A long discussion with my toilet regarding my stomach's feelings toward animal flesh in the form of a good solid 16 hours of vomiting. I'm finally recovering, but suffice to say I will not be eating at BarBersQ again. Veg and Food Allergy Folk beware, apparently you can't stress it enough because people just don't get it. Thank god it wasn't sea food they "accidentally" served me, or they would be receiving copies of my hospital bill right about now. Food service folk, please consider that not everyone is vegetarian or vegan by choice, and that serving someone meat or dairy or whatever when they've explicitly (and very sweetly and nicely) told you not to and explained their situation carefully, could result in major illness, severe allergic reaction, death, and lawsuits.

Hi there, The wine selection is plentiful and living in the Napa Valley is this is tops on my list of restuarant must haves. The customer base is upper middle class and I see the same local faces at all the same premier restaurants. I've eaten here 3 times and have had an enjoyable times at each sitting. Sitting outside is the best! This restaurant really tops off the Bel Aire plaza. I'm glad I finally tryed it. The ribs are great the 5 different rib sauce selections are very interesting and the abundance of fries is very fun. The mini hamburgers are a fun choice, the steak is of excellent quality - I say go here with a group or with a significant other and enjoy!
(4)Cody B.
Really good food... Really slow service... Took awhile to get drinks and food but the food was delicious... Drinks were kind of watered down. Waiter wasn't very friendly and looked like he hated his job.

I got takeout here. Fancier type BBQ Spot. The place looked like a fine dining restaurant. The taste is pretty good. Portions were disappointingly small.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch today after searching Yelp for restaurants close by since we don't know the area (awesome app). So glad we did. The food and service were wonderful. Everyone that works here was so friendly and happy to talk with us. The food was really, really good. I had the beef brisket with coleslaw and ranchero baked beans. The brisket was very tender and lightly sauced so you could add which ever flavor sauce you preferred, hot, mild or Carolina. The slaw was perfectly creamy and not over mayo-ed. The beans were so really good as well. They had diced onion and tomato. Only complaint was the small portion of beans. I wanted more! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with a pear salad. He loved and so did I (took a couple bites!) Recommend this place! Perfect lunch!

Came up for a vacation from San Diego so naturally I have a comparison to Phil's BBQ in mind. It's an unfair comparison if you have actually had Phil's before, so I'll try to refrain from doing so in this review. I ordered the fried chicken per recommendation from my fellow Yelpers, but I felt that it was pretty standard. It was fried well with a crispy skin, juicy meat and not overcooked, but there was nothing special about it to justify the price tag of about $16. They let you substitute your collard greens for garlic fries for some extra cash, and I recommend you do so since the garlic fries were pretty good. Then again I don't particularly like collard greens. I also tried some of the BBQ items from my friend's plates, which I also found to be pretty standard. They were still good, tender meat, but nothing mind blowing to justify the price tag of the items (also averages about $17 bucks). Now to move on to what I actually really enjoyed. I started off my meal with the gumbo, which I am quite surprised to say was incredible. I am a huge gumbo fan and it's very hard to find a place that cooks their gumbo at the right thickness or consistency but I must say BarBersQ got this soup on point. I wished I had just ordered a large bowl of soup and some biscuits on the side. Their macaroni and cheese was also very good, and wasn't too expensive either. Their mac and cheese is re-baked for a crispy crust, small gesture but much appreciated. Finally, they have a wide variety of sauces that makes eating here pretty fun. If you talk to the owner he can bring out his secret "volcano" hot sauce which is made with habaneros. Don't be afraid of the name, it is by no means that spicy, in fact its not even spicier than Sriricha (red rooster sauce from Asian joints with the green top). All in all the food is good, but is overpriced for what they offer.

Went here for a holiday lunch with coworkers on a Tuesday afternoon. There were 7 of us and we were seated inside. The waitstaff were very attentive to our requests and even offered to take our Christmas gift wrap waste away. The food was excellent. The skillet cornbread that (we were warned) takes 20 mins since it's baked to order was amazing - worth the wait. My pulled pork sandwich was very good. I tried some of the sausage and it was good also. A bit pricey for a BBQ place, but the service and ambience make up for it. We'll be back.
(4)Lyn T.
"The Red Thing" drink tasted like a smoothie with alcohol which was delicious! Fish and Chips with fresh Cod was perfectly lightly battered with a great kick of a jalapeño tartar sauce! The fried chicken breast sandwich was so moist I can't imagine how scrumptious the Southern Fried Chicken that's only served on Sunday's taste! Definitely coming back!!!
(5)M P.
They were able to accommodate a last minute change to the reservation we had, which was a huge plus. Although the food was delicious the service was rushed. What I mean is that the waiter & busserkept on rushing us to finished it felt like. They would touch our forks before even asking if were done, then proceed to ask as they are taking it away. It was a complete blow off from there. They asked so many times to remove any dish they possibly could. I don't know what the rush was. Anyhow, we wouldn't waste our time returning unless for their over priced cocktails.

My wife and I have been eating here regularly for over 5 years. My wife's dish was prepared incorrectly (not good) and she was not able to eat it. The manager agreed it was wrong but still changed us full price. He did drop off a piece of key lime pie and apologize(we don't like key lime pie) We have always had good food and service in the past maybe it's a new manager or something. It's very difficult for restaurants to survive in Napa I hope this was just an off night.
(2)Janee M.
I went here last night with a co-worker while on a work trip. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only weird thing was the layout of the restaurant. They would be a lot more successful with a bigger location and more space. The front door just randomly opened into the room without a clear counter to check in. We didn't know if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for a hostess? It was pretty awkward. Also, when the waitress explained the special, he didn't say any prices. My co-worker ordered the lobster and it ended up being much more expensive than she though it was. She should have asked the price, but it would have been nice for the waitress to mention it as well.
(4)Rev. M.
5 stars for the ribs, 1 stars for the collards, 4 stars for the red beans and rice - had lemon and cilantro rice in it, delicious, very good chicken soup, $48 for two, a bit steep for lunch, they "do" overcook the fries til most are hardened and crunch into a yucky powder (no delicious soft potato taste). Such a good restaurant for such a simple thing like - take the fries off sooner! Service was great, friendly, warm, prompt, attentive and informative.
(3)Bianca W.
went here last week with my husband and mother in law, the food was great! annoying thing was the music, could we turn that down a few notches, we could barely hear each other over loud blasting music, that is for sure a turn off, would say I'd go back...only if that music is turned down.
(3)Adam C.
Best wings I've ever had (they smoke them first). Cornbread was amazing. Service was stellar.
(5)Nicole C.
Ate here for a nice outdoor dinner with friends and the hubby. My boyfriend and i shared the combo of Taste of Q for two, which turned out to be spicier for the sausage and ribs than expected. The brisket, as other yelp reviewers have said, are awesome and wished we ordered some more of those. We all enjoyed the cornbread and I was indulging myself in the sweet buttery cream that came with it. Also, try the brussel sprouts as a side! It was unexpectedly good for calming down the spicier foods!

Dined here last Saturday night. The service was great, however the BBQ was not good at all. There is no smokey flavor at all. The pulled pork tasted as if they cut up a couple of pork chops and poured BBQ sauce on them. The texture of slow cooked pork was completely absent. The ribs were equally bad. None of the slow cooked, rich flavor that you might expect. I will also add that a nearby table started singing a racist song very loudly in the dining room near the end of our meal. Apparently management is fine with that, as this was allowed without recourse. We will not return to this establishment.
