Great service and always a great place for dinner. I like there open face turkey sandwich. It's not too big of a place where there is too much noise. So just sit back and relax and enjoy.

Had an ok experience for my first time, but wasn't anything special. I'll admit the service was decent, but the prices were outrages! Ended up costing me $16 for half a sandwich and a salad..and this was with their "lunch special" prices. And to top it off the sandwich I got wasn't that good...had to pay extra for cheese and tomato! Like how isn't this already included on a sandwich?! They put WAY too much turkey on it to the point where it was ridiculously dry and hard to eat. Definitely don't have plans to return anytime soon...if I'm going to have to pay such ridiculous amounts for something like that I might as well just go to Carrara Pastries down the street and enjoy a delicious meal for less. How this place has survived this long is beyond me.

So I have gone to this restaurant twice, once with an amazing waiter who gave us amazing service and another time with the worst service I've ever gotten. I get it people have bad days, but the food is more on the blander side. More like Marie callendars, which I don't have a problem with but for what you're getting it's a bit overpriced. Still cannot get over my last experience though, the waitress really left a bad taste in my mouth...

Have been going here for 15 yrs always good Kayley is a horrible waitress needs better training and needs to learn the art of a refill.

This place is delicious. They have a very big menu! And they have big vegetarian menu. Family vibe, lots of old timers have been going here for years.

I really think this food sucks, in my opinion it's so bland no flavor. I truly think the menu is to big that nothing is done right

My husband our two kids randomly chose this restaurant the service was great our waitress was very attentive and nice .. The food was surprisingly great I ordered a New York steak and it was perfectly cooked and the kids menu was great! I was surprised of their meals because it was a lot of food but was well worth our money

We were there the night of the Miss Moorpark Pageant. We sat on the restaurant side which was also reserved for the Pageant {there was no seats available in the banquet room} the restaurant was closed to the public. They did have good service but the food was terrible. We were one of three tables on that side of the restaurant. They added to our bill 20% for gratuity on our bill. I think that is crazy and terrible business practice. We were four people not with the banquet room. The food was terrible and very overpriced. Chicken strips were 11.99 oh yeah they came with fry's. It will another 10 years before I go back there again.

Love there Breakfast! Omellettes, Pancakes, Biscuits and Gravy and everything else is delicious. Good size portions. Great customer service fast and friendly. Waiter Brad dose a awesome job. Refills your drinks and is very attentive. Pastrami is delicious too. It's a must try.

This restaurant is very good to come sit down and have a nice lunch or dinner or even breakfast. I have to say the only thing negative is that their menu is way too big. The prices are very reasonable and the service it top notch. One of the dishes I highly recommend, is that if you are a fish lover you should try the lox plate.

Robin T.
I was very disappointed in the service. Ordered a bagel instead of bread and was upcharged, no big deal but should have been told. Every time we needed something, more coffee, jam, ketchup we had to search for the waiter. These things should be automatic. Very disappointed.

I'm giving this place a five star review due to the awesome service we received from our waitress Chara. She was perfect through out her service. The food was just ok, but Chara's attentiveness and warm personality made the experience amazing. If you're going to go out to eat, and come to the Grinder. Ask to be seated in Chara's section. You won't regret it.

Creative & inventive. I like the texture of the bread & I can't believe they served me dinner at breakfast time. Way to go Grinder! My friends & I had an AMAZING experience. Be safe, happy eating y'all. Okay! Done.

We came in on New Years Day based on a friend's recommendation. The service was mediocre, as requested items were forgotten, biscuits were brought out cold, as if they were refrigerated, and two of my friends ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, and both claimed it was the worst they ever had. I had a Denver omelette, which was average, and asked for sourdough toast. The toast was definitely not sourdough. I also got a side of corned beef hash, which they make from scratch in house. The corned beef hash, if you're a fan, was PHENOMENAL!!! I would suggest picking up some corned beef hash and taking it to another restaurant to complement a decent meal.

Reminded me of eating at a Denny's or Ihop type restaurant. #basic service was slow, food was ok. Delicious coffee though.

The service is mediocre, but the restaurant is nice. Fettuccine Alfredo leaves you feeling greasy. Sandwiches are great and the burgers are not bad though it doesn't suit the Italian feel this place seems to give off. Coffee is good though. It's moderately priced.

I've been here a couple of times since it's close to home. Fast service but not necessarily friendly. Bad experience calling in an order so I just don't do that anymore. I've eaten breakfast and lunch here; both were very good! Very tasty hamburgers and their bacon and eggs breakfast was perfect!

I've been to The Grinder quite a few times. I have had mixed experiences. The food has always been great. They have a huge variety of options to choose from. If you don't know what you feel like eating or you have a group of people who all want something different to eat, this place is where you should go. They serve pickles as an appetizer. Kind of cool. The timeliness of the staff and getting our orders has varied. I have been there where I have my order taken in the average amount of time and there are times where it seems like the waiter disappeared. Same with receiving our food. It has both gotten to us quickly and slowly. I guess it all depends on when you go. The place is clean overall. The seating is comfortable. Unless, you are pregnant then you can't fit into the booths. I gave the place 3 stars mostly because I have delt with slow staff and long wait times.

I have eaten here in the past, while the food is not fresh made or innovative in any way it is ok, About what I would expect. This review deals with my most recent visit and the poor service we recieved by a waitress who obviously has no business in a service industry, and a manager who wanted to solve the wrong problem. We were seated at a small booth by a hostess who instead of greeting me with hello and a smile started the conversation with "hang on a minute" those were the first words spoken between us. We get seated and someone takes our drink order which is two coffees, after 10 minutes my friend stops a bus boy to ask again for the coffee which he promptly delivered. The waitress stops by and I asked if I could sample the sausage gravy, she said no problem but I could tell from her body language it was a huge deal. When she dropped it off and didn't come back for a another 10 minutes. We ordered breakfasts and juices, my tomato juice came promptly, my friends orange juice took another 5 minutes. I finally asked the manager for the juice and he spoke to the waitress who basically threw it on our table. When I spoke to the manager instead of starting with an apology he started with an excuse "they were squeezing the juice" . Had he started with "I apologize, they were squeezing the juice, "I probably would not be writing this review. I wonder if the coffee was delayed because they were roasting the beans. I am in a service industry as well, I wouldn't have either of these clowns work for me. Didn't stay for the food, gave the hostess$20 and told her I would never be back. You probably shouldn't either. Try Michael D's just down the street, thats great food

We moved to Moorpark from Simi in January, and in that time, the Grinder is our go-to breakfast spot! The food is always spot-on and the coffee is plentiful which is key, but more importantly the service keeps us coming back! Ashley is fantastic and we always request her section, she is always so attentive and we absolutely love her personality! Definitely makes our experience great every time!
(4)
Rachel W.
The waitress is a sweetheart! She's blonde and super tiny and perky which made the experience great. Only if the food was as great as the waitresses personality. I got the Vegetarian melt which sounded great but was very bland. The vegetables should have been sauteed a little more but it was an overall Great experience.

Having lived in Moorpark for 20 years, Grinders is the quintessential local diner and watering hole. It's gone through several changes over the years but it's still in the same place and goes by the same name. Its staying power is a testament to the fact that they must be doing something right... Years ago, before they became a full-blown deli, the food was only mediocre and we would only dine here because it was convenient. I still remember gnawing tirelessly on grisly pork chops or chicken fried steak. Now however, that's all changed. The service, food and charm of this longstanding restaurant have improved 100% and it's really quite good. In addition, their menu selections have grown as well and they have something for everyone. While I'll withhold that 5th star for restaurants that really knock my socks off, Grinders easily makes a super-solid four stars and continues to push the envelope. Definitely recommended!

I've been coming to this restaurant for about as long as I can remember in the last 30 years. That should say a lot!

Huge menu. Reminds me of Cheesecake Factory. I love their turkey avocado croissant sandwich. There's a ton of breakfast food options like a diner and a ton of deli favorites.

Best corned beef sandwich I've ever had and I've been to some pretty well known deli's. Dine in and you be pleased with the service. Order for pickup and you'll never get a wrong order. Top notch food and service!

I can't imagine why their average review is only 3 stars! My husband and I have lived in Moorpark for 8 years now, and we still haven't run out of new menu items to order! Service is fantastic, and the food is high-quality and tastes great! Plus, when my parents come to visit (from Texas), they are both picky eaters. My Dad is now a vegetarian, but my Mom really prefers the more "classic" dishes, as do my husband and I. This is the one place we can all go in Moorpark and find exactly what we each of us want to eat. I love everything Deli, excellent soup choices, I recommend the chicken noodle or Matzo Ball. My husband usually has something simple like their grilled kosher dog, and my mother loves their salads with bleu cheese dressing (one of my favorites too). And the most impressive part is that my Dad can order from quite a few choices of vegetarian dishes. None of which is just a plate of "vegetables," either. One of his favorites is the vegetarian enchilada. The manager (the same one since we have been going there) always seems to be on sight, and checks to make sure our order is satisfactory every time. Forgot to mention how great the hot fudge sundaes are, sometimes we have to go there just for dessert!

My family has enjoyed your Turkey Dinners that you sell every thanksgiving for the past few years. The meat is tender, the gravy is delicious, and I would definitely recommend Grinders again next year. So if you want to save some time from cooking and are yearning for a nice Turkey ,order from Grinders.

Great food, The service is great and the staff is so friendly, as for the food - YUMMY, but go there hungry because the portions are very large, you will definitely get your moneys worth.

Great calm relaxing place with attentive servers and the food is consistently perfect. I had a chile verde omelette with a generous portion of verde, simmered perfectly and very tasty with Jack cheese. The gravy on my biscuits was full of sausage and the hash Browns were good not greasy

The service here is great and my siblings who live in Moorpark come here all the time. The burger is fine (not great but a solid burger) and the tostada was good as well. The menu IS huge and while I think Chris W has a valid point about huge menus, I think they do a respectable job on a wide range of things. My brother says the chopped liver is good and I have seen a range of soups (though not tasted any but cream of turkey) and they do a good job on those as well I like the wine selection (duh), a nice range from about 5.50 to 9. The Cupcake red they serve is decent as is the Markham Sauvignon. I think there are definitely better and worse choices here and I was not overwhelmed by my tostada but it is MUCH better than the other reviewers suggest. Moorpark is a suburban bubble, pretty trees along the main drag off the freeway (not Los Angeles Avenue but off Tierra Rejada) and between Cafe Firenze and Asakuma (really great with outstanding specials for happy hour and lunch), the soon-to-be-bankrupt Fresh and Easy and a handful of other newer places to eat, the Grinder now has competition. There was a time Moorpark just didn't have a lot of food and I notice a huge change even from a few years ago. I am surprised by the prices, I must admit, given this is Moorpark but it's hardly out of line with LA delis (and yes I know this is Ventura County :) )

Amazing restaurant! The food is all very good but that's not why you come back, its the people that work there that bring in the customers. Everyone is so friendly and treats you like a life long friend. Special mentions for Jennifer, Pedro, Kaylee and Alfredo.

Hmmmmm O.
Always good service and good breakfast. Haven't been there for other meals, but when we go out for breakfast maybe four times a year (because we usually cook at home), it's always the good old dependable Grinder.

Waiter could not have been less interested in us or his job. Party i5 for dinner- 4 of 5 cocktails were awful- weak- rim tasted like Crown/ 20 minute wait at the unmanned bar to get a (paid) shot added. Turns out there's no bartender. Brisket was drowned in gravy. Wedge salad ordered ad entry with chicken added- came 10 min after all the other hot entries- and covered with corn- wrong salad. Fish/chips was good- chicken Caesar fine too. But service-on a dead night- was slow, passive and largely nonexistent. No offer to replace the incorrect salad. I'd go for breakfast -definitely skip the bar?

The Grinder is easily one of the top eateries in Moorpark, which isn't really saying much. Their menu is huge and, everytime I come in, it takes about 30 minutes just to decide what to order. Furthermore, the menu items are all reasonably priced. Go-to menu items have to be the breakfasts and sandwiches. I saw a bad review on here and the person ordered fish and chips or something. Go to Andreas in Ventura for something like that! The Mexican food is fairly decent, but there are plenty of authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican food places around Moorpark that I would recommend first. Next time I'd like to try a pizza, but I'll probably change my mind several times once I see the menu again. This place is pretty quiet in the evening from my past experiences. They have a full bar that is underutilized. It sits in a section of the restaurant that seems to only be used when the main section is full. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to make that a bigger staple of their establishment from a business standpoint. Overall, I have been coming here since my family moved to Moorpark when I was a baby 26 years ago. I have never had an unpleasant experience when it came to food and service. This place is a must for local breakfasts along with Cactus Patch.

Hard to find a good deli in the area and I was glad to have come here with a friend. The matzo ball soup is huge and filling; I've always had to take half of it home. I had the corned beef / pastrami in their sandwiches and liked it. The service is good; don't forget to ask for pickles while you wait for your meal!

On Father's Day we went to the Grinder. I guess we are very fussy! But the food here has so much to be desired! I ordered corned beef hash Benedict. And the meat had so much salt that I could not eat it! The eggs were almost hard boiled the yokes were almost hard! I know the restaurant has been for years and it is a landmark in MOORPARK. But the manager or owner should taste some of his own food! Sorry to be so blunt , but I am just being honest.

We have been coming to The Grinder for about 15 years, and it is currently the best it has ever been. The staff is friendly and treat you like family when you are there. They ask after your family and it really makes you feel like you are in a hometown place. The breakfasts are especially good and so is the coffee. A great place for the money.
(5)
Sue C.
Amazingly comprehensive menu, and consistently one of our favorite places to eat with great food and friendly staff. They can accommodate a large family Sunday brunch and they are open late enough for those nights when you just can't get moving. And the desserts... sometimes we just pop in for coffee and their incredible chocolate cupcake. Or a macaroon. Or...

Definitely one of the best places in Moorpark. A gigantic menu selection so there is something for everybody.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for an early dinner (around 4:30pm).... Servers were prompt, friendly and attentive...the bruschetta appetizer was fresh and tasty!!! We ordered a meatloaf dinner to share and it was good enough, nothing to write home about. Family-style restaurant all the way but not a Denny's! Their menu is pretty big and I would definitely like to go back and try their other dishes.

Seriously? Serious? For reals? Really? You joking, right Gangsta? Don't play me like that... So even though I should be cramming for finals, I schlepped my tukhus over here cause I'm a good friend, knowing full well that the food is gonna be disgusting. My friend was going away and she had a lil gathering. The tables were sticky, air was muggy like the 405 freeway in the morning, just a greasy old diner kinda feeling. Trying to be healthy I order a turkey breast with fruit on the side. 30 minutes later.... I got a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and mashers and gravy. I stare, thinking "This possibly couldn't be mine" But unfortunately it is. Since I didn't want to wait any longer for them to replace it, and I just wanted to say my goodbyes and be done, I ate the turkey (dry) and got the check. I will never ever come here again, this place makes Denny's and Olive Garden look really good.

This is the ultimate proof that any place with a crazy huge menu doesn't end up doing anything great. You can order almost anything you want here, and nothing will be bad, just nothing will be great. I feel bad for the cooks that have to produce this menu every day. It must like being expected to speak 15 different languages fluently and well and then being criticized when you can only speak them OK.

Huge menu. Great servers. Yummy food. I always get the Santa Fe melt. My kids live their breakfast choices.

One of our favorite breakfast stops. Always good service. Never an empty coffee cup. Reliable food at reasonable prices. If you like a good breakfast, lunch stop you can't go wrong here. Great omelets and wonderful salads. Check it out!

OK. The food here is NOT great, but it's fair to good. The atmosphere, however, is great. I gave it 4 stars because places like this are becoming endangered species. It's a place where you bring a large group, EVERYBODY can find something they want to eat on the menu, and nobody complains about the food or service. It's a place where you can schedule a lunch meeting without spending a lot of money or appearing really cheap. It's a place where the servers are nice.

Exceptional. Try not to enter Grinder with the assumption that it is a "Denny's-style" restaurant. Although the relatively simple outside exterior opened to an expected host stand and a friendly greeter, I was pleased by the brightly sunlit dining room. There were more guests than I expected, and I sat with my date at a clean booth. I was greeted within 60 seconds for beverages. My server took the initiative to offer me samples of not just one but two soups in case I was torn between choosing, which I wasn't (he had simply overheard me questioning the soups to my date). I was happily surprised. That is very kind. What this tells me is that the servers take their job "seriously," while not being overworked/stressed to the point of not having the desire nor capability to go that extra mile. The menu is huge. Variety is amazing. As far as taste, I have had more success in the unique dishes as opposed to standards. For example, cheeseburgers and cold sandwiches were bleh compared to the soups and specialty dishes I have tried. Manager came by and asked how we were doing and even refilled our drinks. Some of you may not think this is a big deal, but more often than not in a restaurant the manager is more concerned with other things than taking the time to take care of guests themselves. Recommended.

While the food is good and the menu is diverse service was extremely slow. The wait time on average for my family was 30 minutes. However since this place seems to be open 365 days I give it 3 stars.

We had my moms 60th birthday here and it was absolutely fantastic in every way. Fransico, the owner, really made sure everything was perfect. He was super flexible in letting us decorate how we wanted, we also had a DJj and the space was perfect for about 60 guests. We did a mexican buffet with an open bar and it was the best tasting and best priced out of everywhere we looked in the Ventura county area. You will not go wrong doing your private event here!

The Grinder Deli in Moorpark is a great little spot for breakfast in a place that doesn't have a whole lot of options. The location is super easy to get to right off the 118 freeway in one of the many little strip malls that seem to have permeated the Conejo Valley. You first walk through these grand-looking glass-inlaid wood doors that don't seem to fit with the stucco facade. Inside, I am reminded of Swenson's, a Bob's Big Boy meets Marie Callender's kind of place I went to as a kid. They have a turning case of pastries in the small lobby and the standard dark color scheme you might expect from an older place (not sure when this place opened). The food is a tad pricey, but certainly more than passable. I have only been here for breakfast/brunch, so I can't really speak to any other part of the menu, but the omelets are pretty good, the fruit is always fresh and I have yet to get anything under- or overcooked. As good as the food is, the staff might be one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I am never without coffee in my cup and never wanting for my server. They are friendly, bright and cheery, without being overly so. I'm a morning person, so I appreciate that kind of thing. I don't often come to Moorpark for breakfast, but when I do, I immediately think of this place.

Such a typical diner...I love it! Everytime I go to Moorpark to visit my sister, we always go to Grinder's for breakfast. They seem to come here almost every weekend. I have always had breakfast up until a recent visit. As far as breakfast, I love pretty much anything I have ordered. The pancakes are delicious! The best is the generous side of hashbrowns.....soooooooo gooooddd!! yum! I hate when you go out for breakfast and restaurants bring out a quarter of a potato of hashbrowns. Hashbrowns are my favorite part of breakfast and I want a lot of it! This restaurant gives you a lot of hashbrown--I love it!! Like previously stated, I have always had breakfast up until recently when I had the California burger. Big mistake! I did not like it at all. The meat was over cooked (which was my fault because I asked for it to be well done, only because under cooked ground beef at restaurants can be a little scary). The bread did not taste or even look fresh. Everything else just did not taste good. I struggled to finish the whole burger. Perhaps I will try another lunch entrees next time, but the burger was a complete bust! The service is always good. They are prompt. Parking is plentiful! I will be back!

Grinder is our go to place, especially for larger groups. Service is hit and miss. We came with a large group recently and one member of our party did not get their food until 20 minutes after everyone else. The food is nothing special and the prices are high. However it's all that Moorpark has to offer.
(3)
L C.
A little pricey, but what "Deli" isn't? For Moorpark, this is a good classic place to eat. It's been around for a long time. The menu is huge. Lots of variety. Service is good, the owner is a really nice man. Portions are huge. I've tried the "One & Only" tuna sandwich, the pastrami sandwich, and the monte cristo. I have no complaints! The tuna sandwich however, is my favorite! Everyone who gave this place a bad review is a little snob. Yeah it's no Jerry's Deli, but it's good.
(4)
Linda P.
This place if freaking disgusting...why is it still in business? Its sticky and gross inside, the food is ridiculously oily, greasy, old tasting. Ugh.
(1)
Nick L.
GREAT MONTE CRISTO!!!!! Food was great. Bad Drink Service, I was really thirsty and ask for some water when I first walked in from someone who looked like a server. She stated she would get me some, then we got seated, stil not water. Then I asked another person, and on and on till it came. We had just got done hiking in the hot summer day.

I come here almost once a week for 1 of 2 things... breakfast & their pastrami. The place is pretty big (the bar side of the restaurant can accommodate big parties), the menu is huge (breakfast, deli, mexican, italian items just to name a FEW) and the service is always good. I like this place because it is convenient and comfortable. The owner is always there and doing whatever he can to help. I've seen him host and cook. As far as the food goes, I really like the breakfast menu and their pastrami reuben. Their matzo balls are HUGE! ...and they have yummy cupcakes. That's about all I've tried and all I want to try. I will continue frequenting this place because I have no reason not to.
(4)
Kassandra B.
Like most delis, The Grinder has over priced delicious food in large portionst! I love the matzo ball soup, turkey croissant sandwich and anything off the breakfast menu. My fiance actually proposed one morning when we ordered breakfast for pickup from The Grinder. He placed the ring in an extra to go box and I was beyond shocked!! So this place has a special place in our hearts :) We probably eat here twice a month or more.
(4)
Victor C.
Love to go here for breakfast on the way to the local farms. Breakfast is good here.
(4)
James P.
This place has been around since I was a little kid. The food use to be better but its still good. Prices are reasonable. Service kinda sucked but they kept our drinks full while we waited. Worth stopping by if your in the area. Huge menu good for breakfast lunch or dinner.
(3)
Leon N.
I cannot believe anyone would give this restaurant a stronger rating than a one star. The club sandwich turkey was so dry, I swear it had been over couple weeks old. The reuben sandwich was so basic, that this cannot be called a reuben. The avocado egg rolls are disgusting. I should of known the quality would be low when they have menu 10+ pages with every type of food including sandwiches, mexican, italian, breakfast, etc. Restaurants cannot cook that many type of cuisines unless you are Cheesecake Factory. Very expensive as well. Only place to go for reuben, and sandwiches in surrounding area is Brents Deli in Thousand Oaks. I will compliment the service though, very nice individuals working there and polite.
(1)
Ashley F.
If I could give zero stars I would. Worst food I have ever eaten in my life. Ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs over easy, hash browns, and an orange juice. The orange juice was good and fresh. The fried steak was tough, over cooked and full of gristle. The hash browns were overly crispy. The eggs were cold and undercooked; the white was still runny! Do NOT eat here if you have standards. I can't believe this place is in existence. I will never dine here again.

was better when I was younger & now I try to avoid this place. The food is nothing to be impressed over.
(2)

Terrible service, couldn't tell you about the food. Waited for 20 minutes for the server to take our drink order, another 10 minutes til we realized drinks weren't coming, nor was the server. We got up and left. Nobody seemed to care. never again.

Great place to eat. I come here with place that i work at. We come three time out of the year and so far the food that we have eaten here has been great. I would so recommend this to my family and friends.
(5)
Greg S.
Look, I want to start off by saying that I am a frequent customer. The omelets are ok, the country fried steak is mediocre but not bad. The reason this is getting 2 stars instead of 3 is that I do not care for the false advertising on the menu. I can't believe they tried to tell me with a straight face that the corned beef hash was home made. Just because you heat it up from a can on your stove doesn't make it home made.

The grinder hmmm what to say. Big portions, very little flavor. The food was really bland and it has this cardboard taste to it. The customer service is good, and free wi-fi is a plus but I can't imagine myself ever going back here for breakfast. Maybe if I just got a coffee I would come back, but the food, never again.

Great food. Huge menu. Good value. Typical yummy deli. Not upscale or elegant, if that's what you're looking for. Great place for a casual business meeting. They won't rush you out the door. I stayed for 3 hours today, meeting with a friend and colleague.

nothing great. not horrible. I guess that is about all I can say. like a coco's or carrows. i had a brisket sandwich. a lot of fat in it. my bf had a bowl of chili. i think it was way too salty and you could taste/feel the oil/fat in it. guess i am spoiled from my wonderful bowls of chili at chili my soul( r i p chili my soul). definitely not high end/good quality chili. service ok.

I've been here for lunch but only to get breakfast. Of the times I've been here, I've only ordered items off the breakfast menu. It's not that bad and prices are cheap. You really can't screw up breakfast and there are a lot of items to choose from. Interior is rather dated.

The Grinder is great for a small family restaurant. Great service. They always have our drinks on the table before we sit down.

We drive from Oxnard to eat at this Restaurant/Deli. They have a well rounded menu. If you want it they serve it. Everything tastes great. The customer service is the best I've had anywhere. Good prices too. This place is worth the drive you won't be sorry. Make sure you try the free picke spears mmm mmm good.

Unless you are 80 years old, or have no taste buds, or you're my dad or brother, you will NOT like this place. My dad is a truck driver and I guess when hes in the area he stops by for the lunch buffet. We happened to be in the area and my dad insisted we eat here. I opted for Islands cuz Ive never tried it but after fiery argument between my dad and I, I decided I would give this place a chance. I shoulda listened to my womans intuition. Decor: I was on the catering side of the joint and the decor was a Mixture of greek/italian theme wannabe with fake leaves and grapes and columns. CHEESY. Bathrooms: There were two womans bathroom, one on the catering side and the other in the restaurant side. Both were very clean but neither had a diaper changer . . . . .isnt this a family restaurant? Had to change my babys diaper on the floor, not the BARE floor Im not barbaric! Food: Good for the old folk who have to eat their food with no salt and over cooked. Fish and Chips: The outside of the fish was crunchy, pretty OK but lacked seasoning. The fish itself was a bit rubbery and smelled too fishy. New York Steak: Was ordered medium well but came back very very well done. NOT good. Tri-tip steak: it was aight, not gross not great. Chicken California: Only tasted the pasta alfredo cuz my dad commented on how good it was. It was over cooked and had no taste. My dad isnt over 80 but he is Mexicano so dont blame him. Four Cheese Pasta: Overcooked and no taste. My bro liked it, but he had just graduated from bootcamp, so god knows what they were feeding him there. Pizza: The only thing that was pretty ok. My hubby LOVEd it but that might have been because he had some after eating all the other terrible food. Veggies on the side: Not cooked but not raw. I would say they were blanched but I dont know if this restaurant is sophisticated enough to do that. Had no sesoning at all. Drinks: They carry Dr. Browns soda and I will say thats the only thing I really enjoyed consuming here. Their strawberry lemonade was OK . Atmosphere: Oldies music playing in the background and we were the only brown folk in the whole place besides the waiters.

The Grinder has been around forever. I've been here numerous times over the years with my family and its just alright. When they got a new owner, they tried to make it more like a Roxy's Deli. Their menu is so huge with so many choices now it almost gives you a headache! Their prices aren't as good as they used to be though. A half a salad for 11.99...really??! The most recent trip here was for breakfast and the california omelette was pretty good.

Nothing has been absolutely terrible, but nothing has been good either. It reminds me of Jerry's deli in that the menu is huge. It doesn't remind me of Jerry's deli in that nothing has been good. I've gone back and tried different things, hoping that they do something well. They must, because the place seems to actually be pretty popular. My one other gripe is that the seats are uncomfortable. This is something I usually never notice at restaurants, but it was bad enough for me to want to sit at a table instead of the awkward, lumpy, surprisingly uncomfortable booth I had last time. I know this sounds weird, but it's the truth!

Grinders is crazy, I have never seen a bigger menu elsewhere! They pretty much have everything here. Grinders is pretty much like your typical family restaurant, except it's not all mash potatoes with gravy. Along with the standard family restaurant dishes, there also have dishes like Gyros, Mexican, etc. It's almost as if they just go "eh.. I think we can make that too. Let's do it" When you first sit down, they will serve you pickles they pickled themselves, and personally.. they're addicting. They are not something that you would eat and say "This is delicious!" but for some reason, while waiting for the food, I kept grabbing one after the other. (sodium maybe) One thing I like overall about Grinder Deli is that they are not too salty. Restaurants tend to be too salty, which makes it hard for one to taste the actual ingredients. As the reviewer mentioned below, the food can be on the bland side, but I personally didn't think it was that bland. If anything it was just the right amount of sodium for me since I have high blood pressure. The residents in the area are more elderly people, so I would imagine they are trying to please their loyal customers. However, I don't recommend the Fettucine Alfredo. The sauce was okay (like any other alfredo sauce from a family restaurant), but what displeased me the most was the actual Fettucine. I ordered this dish 3 times by accident ( I keep forgetting I ordered this), and all 3 times I found the Fettucine to be grainy and does not have of the chewy qualities that makes pasta great. Their gyros was decent, probably comparable to Daphne's. The service was great as expected of a family restaurant. The server would come up to our table often (but not too often) to check up on how things are going. I would definitely choose this place over Denny's anytime.

Love this place. I have never had bad food or service and their Bloody Mary's are to die for...nice and strong! In fact I am going there after work today just to have one.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Great service and always a great place for dinner. I like there open face turkey sandwich. It's not too big of a place where there is too much noise. So just sit back and relax and enjoy.
(5)Ryan J.
(2)Meagan C.
(2)Carrie A.
Have been going here for 15 yrs always good Kayley is a horrible waitress needs better training and needs to learn the art of a refill.
(3)Celina R.
This place gave my boyfriend food poisoning, says the 4 hours he spent projectile vomiting in my bed Pretty good breakfast tho not gonna lie like 7.9/10 lmao
(1)Omar R.
This place is delicious. They have a very big menu! And they have big vegetarian menu. Family vibe, lots of old timers have been going here for years.
(4)Helen S.
I really think this food sucks, in my opinion it's so bland no flavor. I truly think the menu is to big that nothing is done right
(1)Stephanie D.
My husband our two kids randomly chose this restaurant the service was great our waitress was very attentive and nice .. The food was surprisingly great I ordered a New York steak and it was perfectly cooked and the kids menu was great! I was surprised of their meals because it was a lot of food but was well worth our money
(5)Andi L.
(1)Saul R.
(5)Mike T.
(4)Robin T.
I was very disappointed in the service. Ordered a bagel instead of bread and was upcharged, no big deal but should have been told. Every time we needed something, more coffee, jam, ketchup we had to search for the waiter. These things should be automatic. Very disappointed.
(2)Daniel L.
(5)Gabe B.
Creative & inventive. I like the texture of the bread & I can't believe they served me dinner at breakfast time. Way to go Grinder! My friends & I had an AMAZING experience. Be safe, happy eating y'all. Okay! Done.
(5)Ben W.
(3)Alysse F.
I love the club sandwiches and breakfasts here. I've never had a bad meal. I don't understand the lower ratings, but to each his own. I'll be back!
(4)Danny P.
Reminded me of eating at a Denny's or Ihop type restaurant. #basic service was slow, food was ok. Delicious coffee though.
(3)Jenn T.
The service is mediocre, but the restaurant is nice. Fettuccine Alfredo leaves you feeling greasy. Sandwiches are great and the burgers are not bad though it doesn't suit the Italian feel this place seems to give off. Coffee is good though. It's moderately priced.
(2)Amanda E.
I've been here a couple of times since it's close to home. Fast service but not necessarily friendly. Bad experience calling in an order so I just don't do that anymore. I've eaten breakfast and lunch here; both were very good! Very tasty hamburgers and their bacon and eggs breakfast was perfect!
(3)Bonnie C.
(3)Natalie A.
Disappointing. Have been here many times in the past but prices are up and quality down.
(1)John M.
1st timer. Went for breakfast. Seated right away. Water, coffee & order right away. Never had to ask for refills. Great service. Ordered chili omelette with bacon on side. AWESOME! Healthy portions & great taste. Would highly recommend eating here!
(5)Joe Z.
(1)Randy C.
(4)Rachel W.
The waitress is a sweetheart! She's blonde and super tiny and perky which made the experience great. Only if the food was as great as the waitresses personality. I got the Vegetarian melt which sounded great but was very bland. The vegetables should have been sauteed a little more but it was an overall Great experience.
(4)Chris C.
(4)A B.
I've been coming to this restaurant for about as long as I can remember in the last 30 years. That should say a lot!
(5)Jen L.
Huge menu. Reminds me of Cheesecake Factory. I love their turkey avocado croissant sandwich. There's a ton of breakfast food options like a diner and a ton of deli favorites.
(3)Jeffrey S.
Best corned beef sandwich I've ever had and I've been to some pretty well known deli's. Dine in and you be pleased with the service. Order for pickup and you'll never get a wrong order. Top notch food and service!
(5)Kay C.
(5)Frank M.
(5)Jeff D.
Great food, The service is great and the staff is so friendly, as for the food - YUMMY, but go there hungry because the portions are very large, you will definitely get your moneys worth.
(5)Heidi F.
Great food. Have liked everything. I have not tried the Mexican food. My sister ordered carnitas. I would go to a Mexican restaurant instead
(5)David D.
Great calm relaxing place with attentive servers and the food is consistently perfect. I had a chile verde omelette with a generous portion of verde, simmered perfectly and very tasty with Jack cheese. The gravy on my biscuits was full of sausage and the hash Browns were good not greasy
(4)Victoria O.
(3)Karen W.
This is my favorite place to eat! No matter what I am in the mood for, they have it! The staff are great and the food is wonderful. Don't miss out on this treasure!
(5)Ryan L.
Good food and good service. Walking distance from my house and I have been several times. I'm sure I'll be going many more times as well.
(4)Gretchen K.
Most unfriendly, uncaring service ever. Not welcoming at all. Too bad because the food looked very good. Go to Michael Bs across the parking lot for great food and a friendly welcome.
(1)Dan L.
Worst service over priced go to Brent's deli Weslake much better. Don't waste your time at grinders
(1)Geoff T.
Amazing restaurant! The food is all very good but that's not why you come back, its the people that work there that bring in the customers. Everyone is so friendly and treats you like a life long friend. Special mentions for Jennifer, Pedro, Kaylee and Alfredo.
(5)Hmmmmm O.
Always good service and good breakfast. Haven't been there for other meals, but when we go out for breakfast maybe four times a year (because we usually cook at home), it's always the good old dependable Grinder.
(4)Suze M.
(3)Tony C.
(4)Saby K.
(4)Stephen N.
Huge selection on the menu! Great food and nice portions.
(4)Robert K R.
(2)Lori J.
We have been coming to The Grinder for about 15 years, and it is currently the best it has ever been. The staff is friendly and treat you like family when you are there. They ask after your family and it really makes you feel like you are in a hometown place. The breakfasts are especially good and so is the coffee. A great place for the money.
(5)Sue C.
Or...
(5)Ackcential L.
Definitely one of the best places in Moorpark. A gigantic menu selection so there is something for everybody.
(5)Brandy S.
(4)Anthony N.
Seriously? Serious? For reals?
(1)Chris W.
(3)Ute V.
Huge menu. Great servers. Yummy food. I always get the Santa Fe melt. My kids live their breakfast choices.
(5)Dennis S.
One of our favorite breakfast stops. Always good service. Never an empty coffee cup. Reliable food at reasonable prices. If you like a good breakfast, lunch stop you can't go wrong here. Great omelets and wonderful salads. Check it out!
(3)Brian L.
(4)Kyle J.
(5)Chris B.
While the food is good and the menu is diverse service was extremely slow. The wait time on average for my family was 30 minutes. However since this place seems to be open 365 days I give it 3 stars.

Stopped in for a to go order. Great service. Very accommodating. Great sandwiches. They brought cold drinks while we were waiting. Pleasant surprise!

Too many thinks on the menu and all of it is just average. Food quality was okay. The atmosphere is tired.

This place if freaking disgusting...why is it still in business? Its sticky and gross inside, the food is ridiculously oily, greasy, old tasting. Ugh.

(4)Victor C.
Love to go here for breakfast on the way to the local farms. Breakfast is good here.
(4)James P.
This place has been around since I was a little kid. The food use to be better but its still good. Prices are reasonable. Service kinda sucked but they kept our drinks full while we waited. Worth stopping by if your in the area. Huge menu good for breakfast lunch or dinner.

(2)R P.
Terrible service, couldn't tell you about the food. Waited for 20 minutes for the server to take our drink order, another 10 minutes til we realized drinks weren't coming, nor was the server. We got up and left. Nobody seemed to care. never again.
(1)Jennifer F.
Great place to eat. I come here with place that i work at. We come three time out of the year and so far the food that we have eaten here has been great. I would so recommend this to my family and friends.
(5)Greg S.
(2)Juv R.

I guess that is about all I can say. like a coco's or carrows. i had a brisket sandwich. a lot of fat in it. my bf had a bowl of chili. i think it was way too salty and you could taste/feel the oil/fat in it. guess i am spoiled from my wonderful bowls of chili at chili my soul( r i p chili my soul). definitely not high end/good quality chili. service ok.
(3)Hattori H.
I've been here for lunch but only to get breakfast. Of the times I've been here, I've only ordered items off the breakfast menu. It's not that bad and prices are cheap. You really can't screw up breakfast and there are a lot of items to choose from. Interior is rather dated.
(3)Jen W.
The Grinder is great for a small family restaurant. Great service. They always have our drinks on the table before we sit down.
(5)David R.
