Breakfast here is alright. Not as great as people rave it to be. Our first experience was terrible. The lady up front (not the lady that was in charge) was not that great. SI had to ask for creamer for my coffee. I then asked for brown sugar, which she completely forgot and never brought it. We had the 2+2+2 and a side of hash browns. Bacon was burnt and small, eggs overcooked. French toast is only one slice of bread. Small portions. So far all the breakfast places here in Moorpark are Top it off, their prices aren't that great either. Coffee is crap. Overpriced for breakfast. Take the extra mile and go to First Street breakfast or The Egg House in Simi Valley. If you want awesome biscuits and gravy or just decent prices w big portions...Try Petes Cafe in Ventura! Highly recommend!!

Awesome hole in the wall breakfast joint. Best biscuits and gravy, country fried steak and club sandwich. I recommend the Cactus Patch.

One the best places in town for breakfast. Chicken fried steak and eggs are great. Waitress tried to keep your glasses full. The atmosphere is old Western my kind of place.

It's actually amazing how this place actually makes the world's best food, bacon, taste bad. How do they do it? I don't know.... Eggs were good, service was subpar, especially to say that they were not busy. I'm actually writing this as I'm sitting here, at the Cactus Patch, drinking my grocery store coffee that they've served me. My wife's French toast tastes like it's been sitting for hours and I'm pretty sure I have the same o'brien potatoes in a red Ore Ida bag at home. Pretty disappointing. I didn't give one star because my eggs, tasted like eggs.

Great place for breakfast and a lot of food I almost got the Riley Special but saw the regular breakfast was only a little more with Potatoes. Based on other reviews I got sausage patties instead of my usual bacon and loved it. Also comes with yummy biscuits and gravy. Definitely a family type atmosphere with customers you can tell are regulars which I have a feeling I will be too.

This place is awesome. Small town breakfast place. Traditional American breakfast. Does get very busy on weekends. Great place for families. The staff is friendly and good service.

The decor makes you feel like you stepped back into the 60s! :) The food is delicious and service was great. I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy. One of the best I've had.

I love the Cactus Patch! I've been going here since I was born. It was also my first job as a 16 year old. The food is to die for, and it always feels like home every time I step in the door. I always get the same thing every time I go, I can't help it I'm hooked! If I could go to the Cactus Patch for breakfast, lunch and dinner I would!

If you don't give this place 5 stars you need to adjust your perspective. Food is great, cheap and plentiful. It is not the 4 seasons people it is a classic "hole in the wall, mom and pop shop". rank it that way.

  • Sheyda M.

The restaurant gives a very home-ie feel and it's a classic breakfast kind of place. I had the pepper and mushroom omlette and they mix in the veggies with the eggs instead of folding the cooked egg over the veggies and it was delicious! The main menu has the basic essentials to a good breakfast but I didn't think there was anything unique about it.

Love the food. That's the 3 stars. We've gone there a few times now and the last 2 were less than desireable. It's always busy so I get that but the last 2 visits it was SO busy you'd think you'd add a server or two...nope. We sat down and felt so rushed to order because they are all rushing around doing 3 and 4 things at once half paying attention. Once we ordered we waited 30 minutes to get our food and the busboy refilled our drinks. The last 2 times my husband's food was cold so we sent it back. Today she forgot my side orders. Once I finished eating my husband's 2nd round of food came - hot this time and not just microwaved like they did last time - and the checked was dropped so I went to pay and waited 10 minutes to pay as they were so busy they couldn't attend to the 5 people waiting to pay! Too bad because the food is really good.

You get the feeling of a small town diner with the friendly ness you would expect. Good portions and the home fries taste great. Other dishes in our party were ok tasting. Just like the other review not sure what the hype is about this place. Generic is the word that cones to kind. Not sure if will try again.

We were taking kids to the moorpark teaching zoo. On the way to the zoo, we wanted to stop by a restaurant for quick brunch/lunch. I found this place in moorpark and I am glad I found it! It was pretty crowded when we get in. The staffs were nice and friendly. We ordered bacon & cheese omelet and country chicken steak plate for us. We also ordered a bowl of fruits and kids breakfast for kids. The food took quite a long time, maybe they were busy with other customers. However, once the food came out, it was great! I really liked cozy and family like atmosphere and i would come back if I am in the area next time. Atmosphere: 4 stars Foods: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Overall: 4 stars

The best Chicken Fried Steak and gravy I've ever had! They must make their own patties because they are thick and crunchy! Yum!

Moorparks hidden gem! Awesome food and a great price! Can't go wrong with any dish you get but I love the biscuits and gravy.

I have not been here for awhile but it is a great place for Sunday breakfast. A bit of a time warp with lots of memorabilia on the walls. No particular theme that I could figure out, just interesting stuff! The food is not fancy, but it is honestly good. Excellent service and your coffe cup will never be empty. If you are looking for a nice, old fashioned, local diner, give this place a try!

This place is awesome, the food is good and it doesn't take forever to get to you from the time you order. The staff is super friendly an it's awesome cause you can walk your pet there and sit outside to eat with your pets!

The food was amazing, service was fast, great prices. Bast place in Moorpark to go and have breakfest!!. Liked the old dinner style you really feel at home. First time and will return for sure :-)

Cute little cafe with western decor. Very casual, quick and yummy food. Their pancakes are the best in town! So fluffy and light. They do get pretty busy on weekends but we've never had to wait more than a couple minutes for a table. I love this spot!

  • Amanda R.

LOVE the Cactus Patch. Have been eating here for 15 years and have never been disappointed. I no longer live in California but every time I visit family eating here is a must. I love that it never changes. Good for a trip down memory lane.

  • Nikki T.

The cactus patch is simple, done right. The menu is pretty basic for breakfast, but they have a few meat options (sirloin, chicken fried steak, sausage patties...). I haven't gone for lunch yet. The hash browns are always good - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. If you like your bacon crispy, ask for it. If you like your eggs a little thicker, ask for it. They get my order to my liking when I specify something. It's a friendly atmosphere - bring the family, bring the dog (they'll bring a water bowl!), bring a friend, go solo... Just go. You'll leave satisfied.

I used to be a regular here but its been years since I had been back. The Fam was excited to be going to "The Patch". Its still a great place to have breakfast. Good food, reasonable prices and good service.

  • Sue F.

The Cactus Patch has the charm of old town Moorpark. The food reminds me of home made. That is a good thing, it's not "frozen sent from main office" to be heated for all the locations. I've tried several sandwiches on the menu, all very good. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. They have a cute little patio in the front with a tree lined street. The portions are generous, service is great and the prices are extremely reasonable.

    (4)
  • Ama S.

No more Cactus Patch for or my friends. The way the owners treat the staff is awful. The quality is not what once was. My advice is to find another place to meet for breakfast And lunch.

  • Robin K.

Fast, friendly service. Great breakfast! Fair prices. Been coming here for years. They are open Sundays from 7:00. Yelp was saying they were closed, but they are open Sundays. It's a small restaurant. Walk in and seat yourself if you can find an open table. They tend to be pretty busy every time we've gone. Not good for big groups. There's really only one large table in the whole place. I love coming here for breakfast and almost always get the pancakes which are great. I appreciate that they always keep the coffee coming too. I would recommend their sausage patties over the bacon. The also have a patio and we've been able to bring our dogs with us on the patio and the server was kind enough to bring a bowl of water for the dogs--a nice touch. If you want quick, inexpensive, no nonsense food--this is the place for you.

  • Ricki L.

A solid pseudo greasy spoon breakfast. Every once in a while they provide substandard customer service, as though the kitchen or dining area was a body or two down. However 90% of the time is excellent food of traditional favorites at a satisfactory price.

  • Victoria S.

It's nice to know there are still places that you can go that are small town. Breakfast is always wonderful and during the recent fire they stayed open late and gave free meals to all our firefighters! I am definitely going to make an effort to patronize this place more! Yay Moorpark! :)

  • Glenn H.

You want a local place to eat some good old fashioned American style breakfast? Where the biscuits are covered in gravy and the same old guys are sitting at the counter drinking coffee and shooting the breeze no matter what day of the week it is? Where the waitress calls you "Hon" and thanks you for coming in as she's pouring your coffee? This is your place. They do breakfast and lunch, but I'm partial to the breakfast menu. A good solid place for some good solid breakfast food. Omelettes, pancakes, eggs, bacon, you name it and it is all good.

    (4)
  • Terry T.

Great and cozy feeling breakfast place. Country fried steak and eggs or even the moorpark breakfast, both are great.

    (5)
  • Kristina V.

I love Cactus Patch. I always have. I've been coming here for years and when I was little I would always order the hot chocolate complete with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. Now that I'm older, I order coffee. The restaurant is homey and great old american western style. It's casual and fun. The breakfast menu is awesome! It's always a family pleaser.

This is the kind of place that if not for Yelp, I probably would never have discovered. It's on a small, quaint street in Old Town Moorpark. Although it may seem busy and frenetic when you first walk in, if you just hang out a while, you'll find that it's not that crazy and you can easily seat yourself at the counter or in a little while tables clear up fast. FIrst impression, walked in and no eye contact or greeting by any of the staff. Not the best first impression, but I got the feeling during the breakfast rush the survival mode kicks in and unfortunately service suffers. We sat ourselves at the bar and at that point we were acknowledged by several people who took our beverage order and placed silverware down for us. Sitting at the counter is a quick and easy way to eat, but I wouldn't recommend it because you're in a major high traffic area and staff have to go behind the counter to get beverages and run food, so the energy is definitely high paced and not very relaxing. The redeeming thing was that their food was actually quite good. I ordered the Popeye Omelette and the combination of spinach, bacon, cheese and touch of mushrooms was great. The hash browns were very diner style (typical shredded potato, crispy outside, cooked soft inside) but in a good way and not too oily. My husband ordered the biscuits and eggs and being from the South, he was not impressed. The biscuit was very doughy and dense, not light or flaky. Still, the quaint neighborhood feel of this restaurant and the Popeye Omelette make it a worthwhile place to check out for some morning grub.

We've never had anything we didn't like here. My husband's favorite is the Sunrise Sandwich and I always get their Chicken Fried Steak. Please try their salsa, it is so hot and delish!

  • Christine S.

Haven't dined here in 15 years, so I thought it was time. Think I'll wait another 15 years before I return. The food was average, omelette was pretty dry. But the thing that disappointed me most was the service. We almost had to beg for refills on our coffee. I've never had to ask so many times before this day. My husband thinks you get forgot about on the patio, so perhaps that was the problem. Good luck.

    BEST biscuits and gravy!!!

  • Rich P.

I don't even know where to begin on this place! It's soooo good! I moved to the bay 3yrs ago, but keep coming back here every time I come to town. If you like biscuits and gravy, try the Riley Special... it's seriously the best I've ever had. The 2+2+2 is also really good. In all honesty, I've never walked out of The Patch unhappy. If you visit Moorpark, you've gotta visit the Patch. Just a quick update... they serve breakfast AND lunch. I had no idea! I went there a couple days ago and my friend ordered the tuna melt... wicked good!

Cute little breakfast place. Everything is fresh and delicious and the portions are huge! I've never had one thing that wasn't tasty! Omelets, eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, everything breakfast and lunch you can think of. Tasty, unpretentious food. Awesome!

What a great little restaurant to give you that old town feel! I love coming here for lunch because on a nice day, you can sit on the patio and the server is friendly and personable. The prices are decent and the food is good. Nice and simple with a comfy feel. Definitely give it a try.

  • Sid A.

Nice place! Very cozy and comfortable, and the service was great. The food unfortunately was nothing spectacular, but then again I only tried the basic breakfast with the biscuits and gravy. They were tasty but far too heavy for me...I could only finish one out of three given. Overall though, nice clean family restaurant that is a great gathering place, especially for car fans like me =)

They serve the homey breakfast classics along with some lunch options. Its pure Americana kind of food. Located on High Street, this eclectic little place is definitely a hometown classic. Everyone comes here including: cops, moms and dad, kids of all ages, all walks of life. There breakfast is the breakfast of champions, while not anything revolutionary. Solid standards done right can sing a tune all its own. Its definitely an adorable Brunch after Sunday mass kind of place. While I'm not a bible thumper by any means, I will definitely add this to my Breakfast rotation.

Not much to look at when you get inside, the decor is dated, the booths need a facelift, and the carpets!!! But the coolest thing about the place is that they remember you name, just like Cheers! It is a local restaurant where everyone treats you like a regular. Eggs Benedict is the specialty there for breakfast. Order it, you will not be disappointed. Ask for Paula, she is a throwback to the old school waitress with a great disposition. She always smiles, and the customers love her. Try the Tamales, and the homemade salsa. Dog friendly patio for doggies, and they will bring you a dish for pups water, and sometimes a treat. Perfect fit for old town High Street!!

Just wanna give a shout out to Cactus Patch. My boyfriend has lived in Moorpark most of his life and this place is still his go to place for a great breakfast! the service is warm and friendly- food great- DOG FRIENDLY!!! Highly recomended! The spanish sauce is off the charts! We are very lucky to have this place 2 minutes away from our house! They even brought our dog a bowl for water and a plate for us to share with her!! Loved it!

The Cactus Patch is the classic, small town Moorpark diner. My parents love going here after church on Sundays. If there is one thing the Cactus Patch's food is, that would be cheap. And cheap food here definitely translates to cheap quality. The menu is pretty limited in options and isn't exactly vegetarian friendly. They use American cheese on their omelettes. Ew, just ew. American cheese belongs on a picky 5 year-old's grilled cheese sandwich, not laid on top of my mushroom and bell pepper omelette, thank you very much. I do commend them on their orange juice and hash browns though. They do a good job there. And I like the waitresses - they are always friendly! So if you're looking for a cheap, hometown feel, look no further. But if food quality is your thing, maybe try the Grinder right down the road.

We went for lunch on Sunday. I had the "Patch" sandwich which is turkey, avacado, and bacon. Real shaved turkey. My wife had the cheese burger. The steak fries are good. My wife asked for Thousand Island dressing on the side, she got tarter sauce, but fear not, some ketchup was there, so some "condiment alchemy" happened, and my wife was soon happy. They have cold domestic beer, so on a warm day that was a nice way to have lunch. It's an OK spot for lunch, and we may go again, but not too sure when we would do so. Service was nice and attentive. For some reason, I remember High Street being busier in the past. It was very quiet today.

Sunday morning in Moorpark brings us to Yelping- where do we eat breakfast? Cactus Patch brings a good sampling of reviews, so we head there. Pretty populated by college folks and families alike but room to find a seat at 11am. Tried the special, California Omelet. Well prepared eggs, fresh avocados, decent chili and pinto beans. Husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. Not a real creative menu, just a bread and butter type breakfast but nothing wrong with that. 60's diner feel. Service needs a lift, however. Our server was disconnected, abrupt and unconcerned about her job. Sometimes we all gotta stop and think when we are in the service business-deliver service, that's what we are there for.

The Cactus Patch is a local landmark in East Ventura County. Its picturesque location on High Street in Moorpark near the train station is a slice of authentic Americana. While the storefront itself is nothing special, it has a combination of atmosphere, friendly service and history, which will take you back to a simpler time. Early morning locals chat about the weather and city politics, swapping jabs, jokes and tall tales. It has a real breakfast bar, like the cafes and watering holes we remember from childhood. The decor is old, tacky and amusing, consisting of western motif yard sale items combined with pictures and memorabilia. It is rich in character, which is why it has such a loyal local following. The food is only average, so don't expect gourmet cooking. Simple eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes and a few extras, but nothing extraordinary. Most people don't come here to be wowed by how fluffy the omelettes are or how perfect the biscuits and gravy are. Food is of course the main event, but it's not the whole picture. It seats about 40 people, and they have fenced outdoor seating which is great under the pepper trees. The service is very good, and adequate street-side parking make this a favorite meeting spot for clubs and groups. They open at 7:00 AM and only serve breakfast and lunch - no dinner. Very popular with local motorcyclists. I highly recommend the Cactus Patch!

An escape from the city! Quaintly located in Old Town Moorpark, the Cactus Patch is like a piece of Americana. The food is great! Big portions. Their home fries are what home fries are meant to be. The service is fun and family-style. You can practically help yourself to the coffee. It made me feel like I was far away from the rushed L.A. life, which was exactly what I needed. Check it out and pretend like you're on vacation.

Breakfast anytime! I opted for the French Dip ... hard to go wrong there. The steak fries were outstanding ... crispy and tender. The decor belongs to another time and the waitress says, "Hon". Hard to beat it.

I'm not sure what it is about this old diner, but I always enjoy stopping in. I only order the biscuits and gravy because it's that yummy. If you want to go to a chill, cozy diner and eat up some decent food (you have to try the biscuits and gravy), this is the place.

I've been here about 2 other times in the past and it's always crowded. But even though it was crowded, the service was pretty good. Not so today. We waited, got our table, the busboy cleaned it off, was friendly and chatty. Then, we waited. Thank goodness he brought our coffee & water, even though the cream pitcher was completely empty. After about 10 minutes, our waitress came over. Unsmiling and unfriendly as she was. Took our order, and before she left, I asked "can I have some more cream, please?" She wordlessly grabbed the cream pitcher and left us. I saw that she had other tables, of course, so I didn't expect her to come right back but it was a substantial amount of time and my coffee was lukewarm by the time she got back with the cream. OK, not a huge deal. It would have been nice if she'd said an apologetic word, or offered to heat up my cooling coffee, but she never said a word. When we got our food, I asked for more syrup for the table as our pitcher was almost empty. She brought over another almost empty one and again, without speaking, put it on the table. Ok....... So we finished our food, which was all right, bacon & eggs & toast, pancakes, not too complicated, and our busboy dropped off the check. When we were ready to pay, my boyfriend got up and stood by the cashier. The cashier did not look up then another man came over, and she did look up and took the 2nd man's check, first. I looked at my boyfriend, he just looked at the cashier. She got his check, he paid and there was some discussion between the two of them on the dining experience we had. He sat back down and another woman, who evidently was the owner, sat down and said she overheard about our unhappiness with the service, was pleasant and offered to comp our meal, offered us a gift certificate to come back again, on the house, both of which we politely declined. She also tried to give back our tip, which we didn't feel was necessary. I mean, she really tried. She started to stick it in my bra! Lol. That's quite all right!

Historical High Street, I see this street in many movies. Well Cactus patch is an experience of its own. This place is older than dirt and when you go inside the decor feels like you stepped in to an old western movie. The dish do not match but this hole in the wall has great prices. Surprising but this place gets packed. the food is good. Moorpark biscuits and gravy.

I've been coming to cactus patch for the past 10 years and the food is delicious. The matador and Moorpark country breakfast are my favorite plates. If you want a good breakfast on a nice Sunday morning, the cactus patch restaurant is where you want to be, you won't regret it.

In 1978, my family and I moved to Moorpark and built two large homes on our avocado ranch north of town. At the time, we didn't have kitchens yet, so every day during the construction process we breakfasted at the Cactus Patch. The food was nothing to rave about, but simple, and well cooked. The service was always wonderful, we felt like family there. Beware, these days, Sundays are sooo crowded and the staff is so burned out the service is terrible. Today's visit was beyond bad in the service department. Our waitress took more than 15 minutes to take our order and then disappeared. No coffee refills even after flagging her down 15 minutes later, when the food finally arrived she dumped the plates and ran without saying a word or even looking at us. When I politely expressed my displeasure to the cashier, she kindly offered to comp us for our trouble, which I refused. The lovely Owner sat at our table and also offered to comp us, I refused again. I refuse to flame the entire establishment for the actions of one chrome-plated bitch, but I doubt we'll be returning there again.

make that 3.5 stars. Extremely affordable breakfast. I went recently on a Saturday at 9am, and there was absolutely no crowd. Sundays are chaotic. I didn't have the coffee, as I'm not a big coffee drinker. Instead I opted for water. I had the bacon and cheese omlette with hash browns this time. The bacon was extra crispy which I always love. The omlette was far from fancy. It is made with american cheese. It's absolutely basic, but that's what I needed.

You won't find this in L.A.--breakfast under $6! Located on Moorpark's historical High Street this is the best greasy spoon Moorpark has to offer. actually I think the only one! This place is older than dirt and when you go inside the decor screams it. Old country style everything. Booths, tables, and a bar. The food is good but the best part about this little hole-in-the-wall is that the prices are cheap. It gets pretty crowded with the locals so be prepared to wait a bit if you get there after 10a. Sometimes when it gets really busy the service isn't that great. And coffee is just OK. Otherwise the price and location gives earns it a 4 inmy book.

Nice breakfast place in Moorpark on High Street. It's very ma and pa feeling, with the photos on the walls and strange newspaper clippings. They had a strong menu, my boyfriend got the Riley Special, and I got the Eye Opener and a half of a grape fruit. We both really enjoyed our meals and felt completely satisfied. The only thing that was sort of annoying was how long it would take between a drink, a order, food arriving, and check to be delivered. People are allowed to sit wherever they want, and if they had better seating it would be better and it would take much less time. It's a cute place and a great spot to not spend too much money for a great breakfast!

From the sub-par food to the waitress who loudly said, "if they can't speak English, they should get the ____ out", this Restraunt wasn't my favorite. My biscuits and gravy came out lukewarm, giving me only about a bite to "enjoy" it before it was cold. Others in my party got their food completely cold. Well, it wasn't very good anyway so not a total loss. The home fries weren't bad, but they weren't seasoned at all - just cooked potatoes. Our waiter was friendly, and informative about menu items. He was the only redeeming thing about our visit. There were flies all over the restraunt, and even some patrons at the counter mentioned they had to cover their food to avoid the flies landing on it. There were three flying around our table. I can't imagine how many there were throughout the restraunt. The decor is western, which isn't bad - it's kind of standard for the area. Although many crooked pictures and clutter make it look far older than it really is. It's fairly clean, though. I ran my hand along a windowsill and there was a little dust, but it seems like just what's been collected over maybe a day or two. While our waiter was kind, the rest of our experience wasn't impressive. The unprofessional waitress who made comments about speaking English should definitely keep in mind the demographic of the area she's working in and maybe show some appreciation for her paying guests. If she was just joking with a regular, she should make sure to keep in mind the others in ear shot.

This place was amazing! The portions were big. The food came out very quickly and was a great way to spend the morning. I usually eat more food than most, so it was nice when I ordered the steak and eggs. The rye bread that came with my meal was not too buttered either. Though I was only here to visit friends, I would definitely make it a point to come here again. The ambiance was very friendly. The warmth of the place matched the lighting from the two olden chandeliers. The only thing I would mention would be that my friend did not like the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were kinda average. As for my dish, I loved it!

We can't get enough of this place. The food is great and the service is terrific. Ask for Jessica and feel free to give her a hard time. She'll fire right back at you. She's got a great attitude and is lots of fun. It's kinda like going to a friend's place for breakfast. Did I mention the food's great. Home cooking like it's meant to be.

This place has been around for ever. It's kind of a Moorpark institution. But I don't really know why. Sure it makes a decent breakfast. Sure it has a old ( and I emphasize OLD ) western style decor. Hell, I bet the cast of Bonanza ate here back in the day. But it's average. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. What can you write about an average place to eat? Ummmmm... Well... Ugggggh. It was average? Oh wait! The service was good! Slightly above average!!!

This is my go to breakfast spot and has been for 20+ years. I love Jessica and everyone who works there. Joan Martinez, the owner, is a hometown gem!! The bus boys are the hardest working guys in the biz. Try the Chorizo and eggs. I also love my Saturday morning cactus patch Mimosas!

Today's experience rated 5 stars. 2 servers only on staff, and boy did they hustle. Service was super friendly and efficient. Excellent food. Witnessed an incident with a cranky customer who was incredibly rude and demanding. He waited all of 2 minutes before banging the bell loudly about 100 Times in a row. The entire restaurant was staring at him in disbelief- it got awkwardly quiet in the entire place. "Get my coffee!" "Straw, now!" He was yelling!!! He was throwing pens and napkins!! The servers handled it with grace and professionalism. My husband was about to get up and kick the guy out himself! Kudos to Cactus Patch staff for grace under pressure. Pretty sure the dude left without paying too.

My index finger lingered over the one star before selecting the two. A random act of kindness. We have eaten here about 10 times over the years. It used to be ok, now awful. Went FOR OUR LAST TIME TIME weeks ago. I ordered the Ruben sandwiche. I still gag thinking about it. Left half of it there, not worth a doggy bag. Service was HORRIBLE. Read the other low star complaints. Forgot parts of our order and when reminded still never showed. Two young men waiting tables were clueless. They need a new staff. I finally got up and went to the gal at the register and asked for my missing items. They arrived about 5 minutes later, now that the meal was cold. I told my husband we are NEVER eating there again. He agreed. Thank gawd Hozys has reopened!

I am completely bewildered at the 4 star avg this place has. It's to the point I seriously think I went to the wrong one (except yes, I was at the right place). Came in when only 3 other tables were around. I think I must've come in right before the breakfast to lunch switch. Anyhow, the entire experience was awful. Ordered their breakfast special (4 strips bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy). The only nice thing I can say was that their eggs were cooked as ordered. The guy completely forgot the biscuits and gravy which I had to ask for and it was probably the worst biscuits and gravy I've had. I know people make grand statements when they're disappointed and over exaggerate but I'm pretty sure I'm sticking w/ this one. Biscuits were completely flat, stale, and the gravy was lukewarm and I couldn't see any sausage pieces. If you think this is the best biscuits and gravy you've ever had, I urge you to go to Wood Creek Cafe in Jamestown. Or even Eggs N Things. Anyhow, 2 other tables complained during our visit. One guy went up to the counter and said something was wrong w/ his cream and asked for another coffee. There was another table where the guy seemed upset that they were taking so long in getting his sourdough toast. At one point he yelled out "What are you guys doing over there? Smoking hash?" (I kid you not- this happened. I'm not trying to be funny). Then there was the issue of the ant we saw in the salt shaker. I guess I can see the charm if you're a regular. For someone new who wanted some simple breakfast food, it was a huge fail.

Simple, yummy food! Went here for brunch with my sister who lives in the area. Had a french dip Sandwich and fries, the meat was tender and moist and the au jus was good, it to salty. Kids had breakfast, pancakes were good size and delish! Server was a nice guy and quick with the orders.

Breakfast was simple and well cooked in this quaint little restaurant. Eggs, pancakes and bacon done right. The walls are covered with wood panels and decorated with rustic pictures, beer signs and other oddities. Service was fast and friendly and coffee was mellow and filled frequently. This is a nice place to grab some breakfast for a fair price.

Food was good, service was exceptional. Honestly, the food was served warm and I really like my food hot. I think I would have given the extra star if the food was hot! I ordered biscuits & gravy, very good but lukewarm. Not sure if I would return or maybe just try another place but in the same area.

I'm only giving it two stars bc I felt too guilty clicking only one. When I first moved to the area, my roommates and I went to breakfast and this is where they took me. I was excited when we pulled up and saw that it was an old, mom and pop kind of place! I love little hole in the wall type places. Loved the down home, old coffee diner feel. I believe I got something like bacon and eggs and I was so disappointed! Worst food ever! I always order o'brian potatoes with bfast and so that's what I ordered. Total joke! The peppers and onions weren't even cooked completely and the potatoes were so bland I doubt they were cooked together. Nothing else memorable about my experience there.
