Good ol' Dippin' Dots. Going here definitely took me on a trip down memory lane. I've been wanting to get Dippin' Dots recently as I have not had them in a very long time. I used to get them when I was younger at various amusement parks, and they always hit the spot. So while my girlfriend and I were in Monterey for our first anniversary we happened to see an entire Dippin' Dots establishment. Needless to say, we were both incredibly stoked since she feels the same way as I do about Dippin' Dots. The decor in here has a very 90's vibe to it as my girlfriend had put it, and I agree with her view about it. The atmosphere added even more to the nostalgia of getting some Dippin' Dots. They have a lot of flavors here (at least 15 or more). After trying a couple flavors I decided on the Rainbow Ice. Not only does it look awesome (it's very colorful), but it tastes like popsicles because it contains no dairy. I am not adverse to eating dairy; I absolutely love dairy. However, this flavor suited me the best that day because it was more refreshing than the dairy based flavors. It was nice because it was actually somewhat hot outside despite the temperature being rather high for late January. I got the 8 ounce size which costs around $5.75 I believe. Which is a good deal since in most amusement parks I'm sure you'd be lucky to get 5 ounces for that much. In conclusion, I would recommend trying Dippin' Dots if you have not already. They are delicious, and well worth getting in an actual location rather than an amusement park.

First time I have every seen a Dippin' Dots store. Really good service, the store was really clean. The cashier was really nice and helpful. I'll definitely be back next time I come to Monterey.

Dippin' Dots. Never can go wrong. I got the root beer float. There were three girls that were working here. One of the girls seemed unprofessional and really rude to her co-workers. I am not sure if she was the supervisor/shift lead, she seemed more like a bully. Anyways the girl with the glasses seemed very sweet and was very helpful.

Good, unique, but PRICEY man. Almost $7 for a cup that two mild appetites can share. This is a delicacy. I like them but the price has risen significantly over the years. Bring it down to life or sell us on the production value!

Don't get me wrong, I still wish Dippin Dots will be the ice cream of the future, but not at the price it is right now. I noticed that the floors here were EXTREMELY sticky. For that reason, only 3 stars

This was my first experience with Dippin' Dots, and I probably would have never tried it if my friends did not point it out and recommend it. From what I'm told it is fairly unique to have a Dippin' Dots store like the one here on Cannery Row. Truth be told the small dots are not gentle on the tongue when you are trying to power through your cup quickly. Still it is a novelty, and a wonderfully unique experience. I'd be happy to have it again, but then again I think I enjoy normal ice cream more. There is plenty of seating in this large store, and it is kept clean for the amount of mess these little dots make.

I love coming here when i'm in Monterey. Dippin dots always brings me back to my childhood. It was such a treat to get when we went to amusement parks. I can't say its the best ice cream ever, but I still love it!

i love Dippin' Dots!! we drove up from SoCal (not for Dippin' Dots, but for the aquarium) and we were running on a tight schedule, but i saw this store, got excited, jumped in real quick to indulge... best decision ever!! delicious like always. it's a small shop with a wide variety of flavors. the shop is simple like Dippin' Dots and can't really get any better. good service, clean establishment, easy to find.. although parking is a bit inconvenient seeing how everyone in that neighborhood is fighting for parking for the aquarium.

This review goes to the manager and their Black Friday special! So Dippin' Dots offered free small sized ice cream between the hours of 5am-10am on Black Friday. I walked past the shop on Black Friday on the way to the Aquarium with my niece and nephew, when the manager was handing out free coupons to EVERYONE. Additionally, he told me their store will honor it ALL DAY until closing! So after a great afternoon at the aquarium, we stopped by here for an afternoon snack - picked up some free Dippin' Dots - and we on our way again! (Additionally, the Friday after Thanksgiving is also Monterey's Tree Lighting ceremony with FREE Santa Visits!)

Dippin' Dots rule!!!:) Obviously, I'm an avid lover of this type of ice cream! My husband and I have been frequently visiting this store when we were still living in Salinas, and it's indeed a delight every time we go there:) From their wide variety of flavors, to their friendly staff, I have nothing to complain about. Even though it's a little bit pricey, it's understandable, because you can never get all of those flavors in any malls or even in any other place...Those people who lives in and in close proximity to Monterey should be thankful enough that they have this rare store available for them to come by and enjoy:) Take note, this is a rare store to find...:)

I have to give this place a 5 star because the one in San Jose closed!! :( Finally I get my Dippin Dots crave! Always perfect and always cold!!!! This review is basically for the reason that I found it! But, one can argue that it's a bit messy (a lot of people in and out) and a bit pricey! :(

So i had Ghiradelli, now I want Dippin Dots... This place located inside the corner Starbucks. You have to look for the signs. New 21st century ice cream...so good yet so weird. Better than the Ghiradelli tho' If you take out of towners especially kids here...you will fo' sho' wow them!!! Happy Eating!!

The ice cream was good and the little bit of decor was kind of fun to look at (old local concert posters, record covers, etc). Their prices were kind of high for the serving size and the woman with an eastern European accent was kind of rough around the edges with her demeanor.

Whenever I make a trip down to Cannery Row, I always have to stop in here. Even though I know its totally overpriced but helllllo, its the ice cream of the future! Is that even their slogan still? Anyhow, I love the vintage feel in the joint and all the folks behind the counter are super helpful and nice. When I came in I was so excited I picked flavors before I even noticed there was more flavors, including coffee flavors on the other side! I got a small, half cookies and cream and half mint choco for $4.95 and the BF got this dippin dots and ice cream cookie sandwich, dont remember how much but both our orders came to about $10. Again, its a bit overpriced but its pretty awesome here.

I never knew Dippin' Dots had a full on ice cream shop. I'm used to the little booths with limited basic flavors. The shop was very cute and gave you a feel for a modern but classic vibe. The employee was very cheerful and let us have a ton of samples before we picked our flavors. I had the Birthday Cake flavored dots, and my husband had the Orange n Creme ice cream. Both were amazing. I can't wait to go back someday!

  • Caro S.

I love Dippin' Dots! They are just so yummy, the ice cream of the future. I have always had Dippin' Dots at amusement parks with limited choices so I was excited to see all of the flavors... - Cotton Candy - Bubblegum - Mint Choco Chip - Oreo - Banana Split - Birthday Cake - Strawberry Cheesecake Oh my!! I love this place!!

Really wanted to go in because it's a very nostalgic treat for me. Always reminds me of theme parks and state fairs. I was super excited to go in, but upon entering you could tell the workers look & act like they hate their job. Seemed very annoyed at my questions. You definitely would with all the specials they have plaster around the back walls. Still love the ice cream. Not really for the flavor but of the quirkiness of it. They never have peanut butter anymore though :( They have cookie ice cream sandwiches too that aren't typical.

This dipping dots, has a lot of flavors but yet its not my kind of thing anymore. I liked when they first come out, but now I don't like the freeze bit taste on my tongue. The lady at the counter was super nice, was able to give us two flavor of choice for the price of one. The portions are really generous. The place had tourist happy folks all around.

  • Mike M.

They're good no doubt.Feels like you're eating styrofoam pieces. But for the price, the amount you get doesnt seem fair. I know they gotta stay in business by charging $4 for a gram of ice cream dots, but the question is why pay that when you can walk down to the wharf and get an ice cream that will fall off the cone before you get to take a bite of it and have to leave it on a monterey trail to melt?

  • Yen T.

Always a fan of dippin dots! My favorite is chocolate mint. YUMMMMY! Minus 1 star for being kinda dirty inside. I walked outside to the water to enjoy my ice cream. Minus 1 star for not having cherry flavor. The workers are nice here... if you catch them on the right day!

the only animals that i can think of that eat their food in pellet form are bunnies, hamsters, turtles, koi fishes, and me apparently. i really LOVE me some dippin' dots! they are little pellets of expensive, creamy goodness. dippin' dots are fun to eat, they stick to the roof of your mouth, AND it really does taste like a medly of flavors depending on the blend you make. might i recommend mint chocolate chip mixed with banana and oreos flavored pellets? oishii desu! so after all this raving, why the 3 stars you might wonder? well, the place is dirty. not the pee on floor, smells like ass kind of dirty, but pretty gross if you consider eating there that is. they don't have a lot of tables to begin with, but when we were there, two seating areas had puddles of melted dippin' dots all over. did anyone come by to clean it up? noooooo....why? cuz i think out of the two employees there, only one of them actually cared about her job. i saw the other one staring at the mess and didn't do anything about it. when i left, the mess was still there. oh, and check this out. i saw an advertisement for dippin' dots birthday cakes. i was like, "that sounds pretty cool, what is it?" i found out it's basically a cup of dippin' dots (the same one you get when you make a regular order) with a candle stuck in the middle. now THAT, is stupid.

  • James T.

Havent really seen a B&M Dippin' Dots store so this place gets a decent review since they dont charge the inflated prices theme parks do. They have a pretty good selection of flavors (seriously tho, how do you run out of banana split) and a few options if you dont want the traditional dip n dots. Its location is right in the middle of cannery row and the decor is very interesting and bright. It's definitely a tourist place, but the novelty of dip n dots without ridiculous prices makes this a great place to have dessert cuz seriously, do you wanna go buy some break and bake cookies at nestle down the block?

  • Dave K.

I had Dippin' Dots 10 years ago and have always loved them, but never had I seen an entire store dedicated to them. It really wasn't that busy and to be honest it felt a bit dirty and gross inside. I couldn't actually identify any health violations, but you just had the feeling. The dots were tasty, but I forgot how expensive they are.

Located a couple of storefronts on Cannery Row, very close to the Nestle's Cafe, you can get Dipping Dots ice cream if you don't like the Dreyer's served at the Nestle's Cafe. I think a former dessert place must've been at this site as you ascend a flight of stairs up and find some chairs on both sides of the staircase and the ice cream counter in front. It looks like the place hasn't been remodeled recently. The floors are significantly stained with food residue, in other words, looks like they've not washed the floors in a while. Working behind the counter is a teen and older woman. They claim to have 20 flavors, This is the first Dipping Dot storefront I've ever seen. Usually you find DDs at theme parks like Disneyland, Great America, Marine World and Disney World. The prices are comparable, a small cup is a little over $4.00 and the larger one is $5.25. I have to say that these tiny morsels of ice cream don't melt quickly and they do have fun and colorful flavors. A shout-out to my fellow Yelpers, Froyo boy, Matt and "You know you love her" Froyo girl, Lolia, will be disappointed to know they do not serve FroYo here.

Oh man dippin' dots! I haven't had one in years! Had to get some even though it was freezing outside! They're very generous with their samples. I think we had 5 before we actually chose one to buy. Hahaha! There's quite a few tables for you to sit down and eat your DD. Not surprised that we were the only ones in there that day. They had a jukebox playing and I went to check it out. They have a sign that said that only employees can touch it. They also had pictures of famous people hanging on their walls. I thought that was pretty cool. I wanted to take pics of the different flavors of DD and the girls were ok with that. Will definitely stop by again when weather permits. Yes they are a bit pricey but it is good! Not sure if there's another entrance but you have to go up some stairs to get in here.

On the way back to my car from the aquarium, I was trying to find a way to beat the triple digit heat we were getting one weekend, and saw on the way the double doors to a dippin dots, I did a double take, I didn't even know that they had a actual ice cream shop. I know that this is a novelty ice cream, but I love how these tiny little beads of ice cream can stick to the roof of your mouth instantly creating a sheet of icy frosty creamy goodness, sending a constant throbbing brain freeze. It's such a fun and addicting feeling you just can't resist repeating. They do allow you to have two flavors in a cup and you can choose whatever and can even create a number of unique flavor combinations. Besides the different ice cream flavors, they also have a number of flavored ice, sherbets, yogurt and even sugar free. But who the heck goes into an ice cream shop and orders sugar free. Seriously that's as bad as a person that goes into a burger joint and get asks for a super size, extra beef, extra cheese and then decides to get a diet coke. I digress, the ice cream was stuck to the roof of my mouth just as I remembered, I still don't think that the ice cream is that much better then some of the other ice cream places I have been to, and that the shape is just for the sake of being a novelty, but nostalgia factor always adds to the taste of food. I agree the prices for this ice cream is a bit high and when I asked for water form the man behind the counter, the water was luke warm. I guess it helped melt the brain freeze faster, but I typically don't like to drink luke warm water. Any who, despite the water and the prices, it is still worth a stop especially considering that you don't see these every day.

I'm not a fan of the "dots", but my kids were, so.. Just have no idea why these dots are so expensive. For about 5 bucks, I could have gotten a bowl of chicken noodle soup! Any way, the place looks cool. but the lady who was cleaning the tables was not cool at all. I was about to sit down, she just came wipe to tables without saying an "excuse me". That was rude.

  • Jonathan D.

Judging from the other reviews, Dippin' Dots have been around for many years. I have never seen nor heard of them. When I confused the small round dots with toppings, the lady behind the counter told me it was the ice cream and asked if I wanted to try a flavor. Skeptically, I asked for a taste of the strawberry and in moments my face was frozen. The science behind these must be interesting. I asked her the deal, but she limited the release of the secret to this: the tiny dots of ice cream are "flash frozen to 45 degrees below zero." This is the only way they will maintain their separateness and not mush together becoming, well, ice cream. Of course, when this particular temperature touches the moist insides of your mouth - it sticks. Remember your tongue on the chain link fence in the middle of winter (those of you that really know winter) - same concept. So, the only piece of advice I will leave you with is this. Eat slowly and take small bites. If your teeth are cold sensitive at all, perhaps a single dot at a time would be the right pace. In that case, stick with a small serving.

3 1/2 stars the first time i actually saw a store front. usually have to go to a amusement park to get these. they had sooooooooooooo many flavors and was super busy. got the coffee flavor...just so good. wish they are a little more organized. people don't know how many lines there were and the people working there are all over the place. also the floors was super dirty and sticky. kinda gross.

  • Andrew H.

these ice cream tiny balls are awsome. i give them a 4 star because when i went there, the service was not as great. But i see some people's comments on how much they cost.... to be honest, the ones that are sold here in the store are way cheaper than the ones outside in vending machines or six flags or other fun places that people go to. So i find it a lot cheaper and they give you a bigger portion than most places. And this is the first dippin dots store i've been to.. i always thought they were only sold in disneyland, six flags, and etc.

Haven't had these in awhile! These guys used to somewhat thrive during the 80s and 90s until they went downhill ever since. Anyway, seeing dippin dots gave me childhood memories, so I gave it a try. If we are strictly talking about ice cream, the ice cream is so so. It's fun because it's in the form of small marbles and it's unique. But, I find it hard for it to be addicting. If you never tried them, you can give them a try, but I wouldn't go back again.

WHY WHY WHY can't they have one of these in San Francisco! Oh so yummy little tiny bits of chocolate clinging to my taste buds from the dry ice it came from.

5 stars... It's freaking dipping dots. That alone is enough for 5stars!! They have the full selection of flavors and the location of the shop is great, it's inside the cannery row shopping building(1 of 3 building I think) what's great about this place is it's old time charm, go head up to the second floor and cross over to the other side of the street using the walkway that connects the two building.

As we were walking down Cannery Row, we saw dippin dots. and I said "Dippin Dots?!? I haven't had those since they stopped selling at McDonalds!" So I dragged BF along to try them out. I had the Oreo while he had strawberry shortcake. I was well pleased, but still can't stand the supercoldness of those dots. They seriously freeze my tongue so I really can't 'taste' all the flavor it has to offer. 4 stars coz you can't find it anywhere else. plus they gotta do something about those flies.

As I was looking at the gallery of old-time photos, i saw a colorful sign directing me to dippin-dots. There were two workers with such bored looks on their faces, staring into space. I felt so bad for them. As soon as I walked in, they both got up. One scooped my mint chocolate cup and the other took my payment. The dippin' dots made me happy. Why doesn't it make them happy? The place is clean, not so busy. not bad

why are you so damn far from my house? why is it that you are the only shop that has banana flavor? not banana split but plain simple banana. hmmm? i love it. ps. i love the lady that works there. i believe shes russian? but oh mannn. she is just the sweetest person ever.

Dippin dots. The first time I laid eyes on this place I was determined to try it. My friend took a picture of herself posing on the staircase and I wanted to do the same hahahha. Stupid mee hahaha I went all the way to monterey (its not that far) to try some stupid icecream that I can always eat here hahaha. So I arrived and found parking to be super hard. I hate curb parking. Whatever hahaha it was a quarter for every 15 minutes. I loved the staircase. Gahhh finally!! I could take my freakin stair picture (but I ended up not having my picture taken, long story -_-) It was very different. But when I walked in and got to see everything else... Well. It was kinda not my type of store. I'm into a more modern more sophisticated and more different kind of store, but dippin dots is, a traditional 70's-ish store. The chairs looked like lollipops and the music was too crazy. It was lilke really hectic in there for me hahaha. It had a ... Dirtyish feel to it. But then when you actually look at it, they had a bad selection of tiles and tables that make it look dirty. Our server person was some russian(?) Lady that spoke english carefully but had a very thick accent. She was helpul in the selections but her chooices didn't taste so great haha. But overall an interesting experience. Nothing makes me want to go all the way to monterey to get dippin dots anymore but a good once in a while thing.

Alright, to find a Dippin' Dots location is a rare feat to be accomplished in itself. However, I give this place three stars because they ran out of my FAVORITE flavor: BANANA SPLIT. I mean, c'mon it is one of the most popular flavors of all time and they did not have it. Given it was after a huge heat wave, I gave them some sympathy for having been sold out. But my disappointment could not be tamed, instead I refused to purchase any other flavor and opted for their $1 icee. Another sad moment that my usual flavor, cherry, wasn't even ready yet.. so I had to succumb to getting blueberry. Not as great and way sugary than usual, so I threw it away after a few sips. But on a brighter note, the service was outstanding. The cashier/ice cream scooper was super informative and apologetic for not having my flavor. However, my friend did order a small dippin dots and the prices were well below what I was used to at any amusement park. PROPS for that and since getting Dippin' Dots brings back such nostalgia, I cannot give such a harsh review. Anyways, I am sure if you come back any other day, your ice cream cravings will be well satisfied.

After working at an amusement park that served dippin' dots during my teenage years, I feel a sort of connection with these little pellet-sized super frozen treats. I remember how little kids and adults alike used to gravitate towards the carts that sold these ice cream treats and fork over $3 (back then) for small cups of either vanilla, chocolate or banana split and then spill most of it while walking away or trying to spoon some in their mouths. So years have gone by and like an old friend, I slowly drifted away from these little guys. But after reading up on the Monterey area and planning a weekend trip, my significant other saw this place and how it had "something like 20 or 30 flavors!" and had to check it out. 30 flavors eh? Wasn't that Baskin...nevermind, thats 31. Another previous teenage employer...but I digress. So we found this little shop, oddly enough missing past the main street entrance (it is right by the closed off construction section of Cannery Row) but found it near the Starbucks entrance and walking through a weird hallway. Eh...closer to 15-20 flavors than 30 but still way more than I had ever seen: Strawberry cheesecake, chocolate mint, oreo chip, moose track, liberty ice, lemonaid and of course banana split. The also had a wide array of soda drinks, some ice cream sandwiches and some clothing line. We were a little floored by the price of $4.50 for the smallest and $5.50(ish) for the slightly larger size. If melted down and formed into traditional ice cream scoops, the smallest would equal maybe 1.5 scoops so it is a bit more than say, Baskin Robbins. Inside, although empty, I could see this place as an after dinner desert spot. You know, one of those places where you'd see a little league baseball team after a game or large groups of people. For an ice cream shop, its pretty big. There was a jukebox although it didn't play and lots of old vintage concert posters up. Maybe it was the colors, decorations or something...but the soda jerk-style theme didn't translate. Came across more odd than cozy...but thats just me. Overall, if you've never tried dippin' dots, this would be the place to go since there are plenty of flavors to choose from. I'm not sure if they allow you to sample as most ice cream places do (I didn't see any small sample spoons) but for under $5, you can try it out. If you are in the Cannery Row area, give them a try!

  • Maria C.

oh dippin dots! i don't know if it's just that i haven't had dippin dots for a long time, or if the flavor is too overpowering now! got to try the "icier" fruity version which was interesting... kind of like a popsicle version (versus the ice cream feel). anyway, good once in a long while, but probably won't have it anytime soon.

  • Marian C.

I hadn't had dippin' dots in years (my bf had never had them at all!) when we ran across this place in Cannery Row. I had just watched a learning channel show that showed how they were invented and where they're made (Paducah, KY) so it was fun to stop by and try them out again. I love the cute dots on the wall telling you which way to go when you're inside that little shopping area next door. There's an entrance to it on the street as well. They're definitely pricey as the last reviewer wrote but you're paying for the novelty! The strawberry was the best in my opinion and they're fun to eat until they start to melt then you just wanna toss the rest (or I did at least). Next time I'm in the area I'm sure I'll go back. It's that treat that's fun to have once in a blue moon.

once dippin dots was only a stand, but now they have their own ice cream shop. i like that they can do a variety of flavors and i love the extra cold of the dippin dots on a hot monterey day. what's the best thing about them in their own shop is that they offer so many more flavors, not just banana split, chocolate, or strawberry, but root beer float, s'mores, peanut better chip, cookies and cream, and more! i can't wait to make a trip down there!

Dippin' Dots? Eh, PASS! But, they're scoopin' MARIANNE's ICE CREAM, too?!? Now, THAT, I don't mind AT ALL! And, don't let the name trick you, there's ALSO ice cream sandwiches up those stairs! Those additional signs on the storefront were dropping subliminals on me and stopped me in my tracks. WHOA! The ice cream sammie tractor beam was just TOO strong to escape, especially when I'm thinkin' I NEED a lil power-up before hittin' The Monterey Aquarium! Who cares if it's "slightly" chilly & only 10am ;) Hey, no rollin' yur eyes family! Even the lass runnin' things looked a bit surprised she had customers. Didn't stop her from being super nice & patient with my questioning, though :) *ICE CREAM SANDWICH: Cookies are outsourced from Pacific Cookie Company from Santa Cruz and you have 6 choices. Even though, the young lass said they're delivered fresh daily, I proceeded with caution and went with the ever popular chocolate chip, hoping that would have the highest turnover, aka freshest. Marianne's is a Santa Cruz FAVE and of the 11 ice cream options, I chose Mud Pie. Turns out, this was a pretty good ice cream sammie! The cookies were surprisingly pretty soft and the ice cream was firm, yet creamy and tasty. The coffee flavor wasn't too overwhelming and a good amount of almonds & Oreo pieces were mixed in. Not much "squish out" here, sammie held its shape for the most part :) This was a pleasant surprise! Despite nothing being made here, they are serving a QUALITY ice cream sammie here! It was the perfect power-up to help charge through The Aquarium the rest of the day. I'd hit this again!

My boyfriend liked his ice cream sandwich... But it's awfully messy for the 2" plate they give you along with NO napkin or spoon/fork to help you clean up the excess. The employees obviously hate their job. I wish it was a more jolly experience since you are in an ice cream parlor.

Only Dippin' Dots I know of left and I make the tedious drive to Monterey whenever I'm craving for some of this nitrogen, dry ice frozen delicious concoction of ice cream that should be served world wide instead of just Disneyland and theme parks or mall kiosks. It's seriously the best thing ever on Earth and everybody needs to try Dippin' Dots. It doesn't melt as quick as ice cream, but it still melts! It's basically a bunch of little dots that are freeze dried and sticks to your skin when you eat them. But then by the chemistry vested in your body, it turns into amazing ice cream like you wouldn't believe! Monterey is the only remaining location that I know of. Sadly, this place is sort of run down and it always smells like pee inside, but it shouldn't stop you from going. It's classic interior with even a juke box and so much pictures and different options you can get. The owner you can tell, she's that older meaner lady that doesn't seem to ever smile gives you what you want, charges you right away and let's you be on your way. Don't let her scare you. I mean, five stars on Yelp has got to mean something! (Ps. the floor is always sticky) The other employees are super sweet! If you've never tried, always ask for a free sample. They give free samples, so try all the flavors you possibly need or what! Plus, once you decided and you can't pick ONLY one, they let you MIX, half of one flavor half of another no matter what size you order either! That you don't get often, yay! They take credit and cash so that makes buying it so much easier. There's free Dippin' Dots pencils on the counter and they have lots of interior seating! Oh, I can't end raving about my love for this place for Dippin' Dots. Just you have to try it for yourself. A great combination is the banana spilt and the Smores. I love the Rainbow Ice with Cookies and Cream. Be adventurous, it's a great additional to Cannery Row! Prices are fair and reasonable!

This is the only storefront I have ever seen for Dippin' Dots and it is pretty awesome. I didn't know there were so many flavors to choose from. My boyfriend and I got candy bar crunch which is Vanilla & Chocolate with Chocolate Coated Snickers Pieces. The girl who served us was a little awkward but whatever, you are there for the ice cream not the employees. You can't complain about the price since it is on Cannery Row and it is a rare treat, so just pay up and enjoy!

Customer service is a plus! I had my 14 month old and juggling so many things in my other hand that they were nice enough to just talk to him. They kept him occupied even at the counter so I can get things organized. They also knew their flavors I asked what Rainbow Ice tasted like and they didn't hesitate to tell me it tastes like Popsicles. They were correct. I've even gone to Baskin Robbins and they couldn't tell me what some of their flavors taste like, so definitely a plus! The sitting area was clean and tidy. Nothing was sticky which I expected due to all the tourists but no they keep up with the cleaning.

I was drunk so didnt remember much but the workers put up with me and my drunk friends and the price was reasonable for being on cannery row

I haven't had Dippin Dots in sooo long! So of course when I passed by I had to grab myself a small bowl. So surprised at how many Dippin flavors were available at this location! I choose the coffee and java chip and was not disappointed!

I LOVE DIPPIN DOTS. Banana Split till I die. The only beef I have with this location is their service is really unorganized. People line up from every which way and they help whoever they feel like so it's a little irritating. And their floors are pretty sticky.. they may actually deserve 3 stars. But I just love dippin dots so much, I'll be nice.

This is the only Dippin' Dots store location that I know of in the Bay Area (not counting amusement parks, etc where they have a cart). If you haven't tried Dippin' Dots before and like ice cream, you definitely have to give them a try at least once! The texture of the dots and the way they melt in your mouth is very interesting. There are a ton of different flavors in the shop, which is awesome since the carts usually only have 8 flavors or less. My friend's cousin got the Banana Split flavor ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dipp… ), so I just had some of his. I'm not the biggest fan of banana flavor items, but this was actually pretty good. The store is busy, but the service is quick. There are booths and chairs to sit at, but they aren't that comfortable. However, you do have an option to take your Dippin' Dots to go, but you'll probably get a little bit less quantity.

Not sure what they put in these little magic ice cream dots but they're AMAZING!! I can't get enough of them!!!! This location is the best one I've been too as it's normally just a stand or a small shop in a mall. So this was a treat!! Lots of tables and chairs and a million flavors!!! We got the rainbow ice (classic) and the banana split (arguably the best invention ever) in the regular size. Total came out to about $12 or $13. But if you're feeling adventurous I saw flavors here that I've never seen before such as kettle corn and a couple caramel infused flavors. Docked one star because it's a bit expensive and the place needed a to be cleaned. Particularly the floor needed some help... Good location on cannery row in the midst of the monterey bustle.

No bathroom for a 5 year old?! When you sell ice cream & Dippin Dots - which appeal to children? Poor. And i believe state law says if you serve food you MUST have a bathroom for customers

Yes, it's true. I knew I wasn't a fan of dippin dots before going there. I went for my son. My low rating isn't even accounting for the fact that the "ice cream" isn't good or that there's no way they're the "ice cream of the future" for the past how ever many years and still not that great...it's this store. It was a filthy mess. Gross. You can't have a white tile diner design and not keep it clean. It shows...everywhere. Also- way to not be friendly or helpful at all staff. Oh well. Tragedy of a tourist trap I suppose.

I have loved dippin' dots ever since McDonalds offered them, thus I was so devastated when they stopped! Luckily this shop exists (and probably a good thing for my wallet that it is an hour away from me)! Dippin' dots in general is perfect!! I mean .. there's nothing to complain about this great dessert item. The shop itself is nothing extraordinary. Nice, small, and clean. They have lots of flavors (way more than 08)!! I got rainbow ice - my faaavooorite. They also sell Marianne's ice cream, but I didn't try it myself. The cashier lady was nice! Great way to end a trip to the Aquarium :D

Came here for a quick, refreshing dessert after visiting the aquarium. This place is pretty standard and offers a variety of yummy flavors -- for example, mint chip, birthday cake. The line moved very quickly, and we could even try samples. Though the space is somewhat limited and the store is a bit run down, there is also some seating in the inside for you to sit down, chat, and enjoy your dessert. All in all, a solid place for Dippin' Dots and for a special treat.

Don't stop for the Dippin' Dots - they serve Marianne's Ice Cream!! They really should advertise that they have that ice cream, I didn't see a single sign outside. The store is a little run-down, old and a little dirty but the staff was nice and our Marianne's Ice Cream was amazing! Skip the Dippin' Dots and try one of the awesome Marianne's flavors, I loved the 10-30 Caramel. You can also get any of the Marianne's flavors made into an ice cream sandwich...next time!

Came to Monterey for a local trip and ended up in Canary Row! Me and my family decided to go to Dip n Dots for a little desert and ended up having a horrible experience. Right when we walked in the young male teenager upfront was like a statue with no facial expression and did not greet us whatsoever! Just that made me so angry inside cause it continued till the end and I had to just control myself. The customer service was that bad! Honestly! Like always though Dip n Dots always delivers with great deserts and I will bring my business to another location but not this one again just cause of that male kid!!!!

I didn't even know Dippin' Dots shops still existed! Even though I was really full from my meal, I had to come in here. They have many more flavors than carts do at amusement parks (where I usually see Dippin' Dots). I got a half banana split and half mint and chip. You almost can't go wrong with these balls of ice cream. It's just an amazing concept. If you've never had it, you live in a box - MUST TRY! Luckily I got there the time Idid, because when I sat down, there were TONS of people in line. Everyone loves it! I just wish the workers here were happier and nicer. If you work in a touristy place, you NEED to be friendly because it keeps people coming back and increases tourism - which helps you keep your job! This place is also dirty. Please clean the floor.

This review is based almost entirely on customer service and cleanliness. My family and I came in here on last Sunday and I would have to say the young man at the counter gave the worst customer service , he never greeted us not even a hello! I had to engage any conversation and he gave back one word answers then he just stood there staring at us waiting for us to order, he followed us back and forth to both counters of dots and never said a word. We all felt very uncomfortable the whole time we were in there. I would think for an establishment right in cannery row where you are paying extra $ for everything you better get some good customer service at least! Then there was the tile floor! It was so disgusting and sticky it made us all sick looking at it, get off your a** and clean it. I will never purchase anything from here again!

Mmm I love Dippin' Dots! So many childhood memories of eating them at theme parks like Great America and Disneyland. Whenever I pass by one of those stands, I just have to get some even though the prices are a little outrageous ($4-6). The store front on Cannery Row in Monterey is the only one I know of and offers about 8 different flavors, much more than the number of offerings at park locations. I always stick with Banana Split (a mix of chocolate, strawberry, and banana) though since it's my all-time favorite! There is also an option to add soda to make an ice cream float too. The ice cream consists of tiny, individual dots, so it melts pretty fast, meaning that you should eat it quickly! This is never a problem for me though. The novelty of eating Dippin' Dots just never wears off!

Right along cannery row with all the other cute shops next to the aquarium. It was freezing but we made the trip from SF and we're craving dip n dots. Hella hit the spot. I got spookies n cream and s'mores. (Seasonal black and orange version of cookies and cream). Got lucky with parking too! Free 90 minute parking vs $26 all day...no thank you. I'll gladly walk two blocks

Winner winner chicken dinner! Go to experience the ice cream of the future.... its the largest store in the west. Banana split was the flavor I went for.

Dippin Dots are so fun to eat! There's a wide variety of flavours, and some are mixed with "toppings," like oreo pieces or chocolate bits. They let you mix multiple flavours in a cup, making it easy to share a larger one with friends! My favorite is the banana split, but a lot of them are pretty good. Definitely try a sample before ordering! The girl working here was super nice and lets us sample a good few before ordering. :) I like that they have a storefront in Monterey, as I only see Dippin Dots sold in theme parks now. So sad! Make a stop here if you're visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium since it's only like a few blocks away!

This place is so awesome. If you don't know what Dippin' Dots are then you obviously lived under a rock in the 90's. Dippin' Dots are probably filled with chemicals, but since I only have them once a year if I'm lucky then I think its okay. So normally Dippin' Dots are only found inside amusement parks and water parks, but alas this is a whole store! There are tons of options so it's a bit mind blowing at first. I ended up getting the Oreo and birthday cake dippin' dots. Yum! The birthday cake was super tasty and recommended by the girl working who was sweet. My boyfriend got the rainbow ice which was sour and tasted like cold skittles. Strange and refreshing. Dippin' Dots is pretty expensive, but SO worth it for how special it is.

Is this real life? A whole location devoted to Dippin' Dots??? Even though I was 110% full from a great lunch I knew I couldn't pass up some good old dots! I went with the Mint Chip which was amazing, a small cup was more than enough for me, and a bit pricey at $4.75, but let's be real: if you want dots you gotta pay. The store was freezing, somewhat dingy and dirty feeling, and nothing special overall, so we walked across the street and enjoyed the warmth of the hotel lobby as well as its ocean front view.

Oh, Dippin' Dots, how have I missed you! During my childhood, Dippin' Dots were all the rage and a source of being awesome if you could afford to purchase them at Marine World (now six flags) and proudly walk around boasting your teeny tiny cup of either chocolate, vanilla, or combo Dippin' Dots ice cream. Well, then, we grew up and then Dippin' Dots was no more because we didn't frequent Marine World. And you know what? They didn't sell Dippin' Dots anywhere. Devastation. I had searched for Dippin' Dots but to no avail and eventually gave up. And the years passed. Now fast forward to a couple weekends ago. My best friend and I had just finished up at the aquarium (yay awesome!) and began to peruse the stores all around. We came across (to my utter disbelief and surprise) Dippin' Dots!!! And there were TONS of flavors; ones that I had never consumed before. I opted for the cotton candy (or maybe it was bubble gum?) flavor. It was so delicious. Day made for sure!

I love this place. I love Dippin Dots. I am happy they are 45 minutes from my house because if they were closer I would eat nothing but these -- and the flavor selection is always great. Go here.

This review is based solely on customer service and cleanliness. The actual ice cream itself is the same anywhere you go, and it's not that difficult to scoop it into a cup. What bothered me is the fact that the cashier's friend walked in and hung out at the counter the entire time we were there and remained after we left. The cashier was so distracted that she had to ask me twice if I wanted my receipt, because she wasn't paying attention the first time. The other employees just tried to work around her. The friend continued to follow her around the store while she wiped off tables (and by "wipe off tables" I mean "stand around talking"). She should have been wielding a mop, because the floor was disgusting. There were filthy footprints and melted ice cream all over. If you like Dippin' Dots, enjoy, but don't be surprised by distracted employees.

This place is awesome! I did not know that dippin dots actually had their own cafe's. I thought they were only sold at amusement parks. And this place is awesome! They have a huge assortment, and the price is way less than at amusement parks. I got the orange serbert (my favorite), banana split (classic), and cookie dough (always hits the spot). Also, the place is decorated perfectly for the dippin dots theme. Enjoy!

Dippin' Dots are great and tasty! It's a great alternative to regular ice-cream and there are so many flavors to choose from at this store. I was surprised to first hear that there was actually a Dippin' Dots store because I'm so used to seeing the carts around amusement parks only. The lady behind the counter was nice and fun to talk to. She let my friends and I try a lot of flavors and offered us some suggestions. The new Frappe flavors that they have are pretty good. I got a 5oz. of Smores and Oreo for about $4-$5. Overall this shop is nice and cute.

I have always loved Dippin' Dots as a kid going to carnivals or amusement parks. I decided to try their actual ice cream, not the dots. I got the vanilla bean flavor because they were out of banana split so minus a star for being out of stock of my favorite flavor. The ice cream was very creamy and declicious and I enjoyed it very much. The thing is you can't eat too much. I had a cup and I couldn't finish it because it was so rich that after a while you feel sick eating it. Maybe it was something I ate or maybe it's just the ice cream but it gets to be a bit much after a while. The ice cream was tasty but maybe I should have just gone with the dots. Why mess with the classic but I've always been adventurous. Decor is pretty cool too. Famous picture of the beatles crossing abbey road but as dippin dots was neat.
