Went there with my family last night. For clarity, I would like to say that our server was wonderful. We ordered 3 24 ounce rib eyes, bone. I ordered mine first, the minute I sat down. The rest of my family ordered 15 minutes later. I didn't actually get to eat my steak until an hour and 15 minutes later. Here's why- They had to remake it 3 times. I ordered a medium. The first time they brought it, it was beyond well done. The second time they brought it, it was rare. The third time they brought it, it was medium rare, but I took it anyway. My husband ordered a medium rare, they brought him a medium (no, they didn't mix up our orders, they just don't know how to cook steak). Both of our steak had so much charcoal on it that it was just gross. My husband's steak was dry, my steak was bloody. Anyhow, not going back again. Each time I've gone to claim jumper, the food was a disappointment. This was the worst. The server and manager told us that they are usually very good with steak but last night, the regular person that cooks the steak wasn't there, so the person that supplemented just can't cook? LOL.

The portion sizes are half what they used to be their huge pieces of cheesecake are a thing of the past very very small, things have really changed here. The server was nice and very good but as far as the food goes nothing like it used to be. Price has gone up, portions down.

Dont bother going here, ordered the fish and chips and when it came out, the chips were cold. I sent it back and when it came back out, most of the fish was cold...NEVER GOING BACK

No complaints on my end. Service was good, typical Claim Jumper food. I do enjoy the fact I get one trip to the salad bar instead of the salad that comes with my meal.

I Ordered the chicken the most basic staple of nutrition and protein. It's not like I ordered the out of season machu pichu whatever that is ... it's 3 PM really what they didn't forsee someone ordering chicken at this time of the day. What a bunch of clowns

The food isn't cheap here but for the amount that is served to you, why bother getting two plates just share one. There are some really big people that eat here, some of the huge plates are made for them. The service was first rate, no mistakes, and the server was always checking on us.

I ate at this Monrovia Claim Jumper on Monday, Sept - 15 - 2014 at 6:30PM. It was 104 degrees and the air conditioner was either not working or the manager was trying to save a few bucks by turning up the thermostat. It was so warm in the bar area that I almost left but was pressed for time so I stayed. Two stars rating is for not having your restaurant environment comfortable for your guests. There is no excuse in this modern world to run a nice restaurant like this. If I ever return and find it that warm inside I will definitely complain to the manager and contact the corporate offices to let them know they have lost a loyal customer forever.

The photo I just saw for the restaurant does not accurately depict the Country Fried Steak any more... I am really disappointed, I loved your country fried steak, but when we had it last night it was different. The breading was different as was the gravy. When I go out if I am looking for healthy I would order healthy, but if I am ordering a steak breaded and fried then smothered in gravy I am not looking to eat healthy. The gravy was thin and runny, almost flavorless. But the most disappointing part... the magic you do, the steak looks HUMONGOUS but in reality around the edges was 100% breading with no meat inside. If the breading was good like a good fried chicken I would think great, but then it wasn't it was just a bunch of breading to be cleared with the dirty plate. I guess I am sad that you have castrated yourself in trying to make things health. I am adult and should be able to get what I want. Same goes for restaurants that got rid of the Monte Cristo (deep fried sandwich) or are now cooking it on the flat top like a grilled cheese. I doubt we will be going back. Oh, and one other thing, my girlfriend said that her water tasted like semen. Just saying. Had to buy her a beer.

Claim Jumper Happy hour review: Monday- Fridays 3pm - 7pm Only applies at the Salooon Area BOTTOMLESS Chips & Salsa for only $2?! What the freak, where have I been?! Why didn't we find this place sooner??? As you can see, the picture I uploaded with the menu of the happy hour. How can you say NO to this menu?? Tried - $2 bottomless chip & salsa (salsa was a bit salty) - $3 lemon pepper zucchinis (served with ranch sauce-not overcooked, so good) - $4 calamaris (they were in sticks- served cocktail sauce and a wedge of lemon) - $4 long islands (oh were they good and strong!) - $7 widow burger (enough to for 2 people to split and eat) total of $20 dollars and splitting between him and I, only $10 per person! Oh man, I am totally coming back here again!

Went here for dinner last night...food was okay. I ordered the Ore cart...the taste/flavors are okay. The food quality has gone down. The bbq pork ribs were kinda overcooked, dry, and not enough sauce. The dinner bread was too salty and I noticed they changed the breads. The salad bar was decent, which I enjoyed. My other family members had steaks which were alot better. My aunties and my mom's mahi mahi was dry and overcooked. Overall this place is just average now.

I was in Monrovia for work last weekend and had a work dinner to attend. First of all, unless you want to eat at THIS Claim Jumper, I really don't see a reason to go to Monrovia. I mean, I've never even heard of this town until now. Its like Yucaipa! You don't its there until you get a flat tire in it. Now getting back to Claim Jumper, I really had a good time. The place was packed. Waitresses were all over the place. They looked like cheap shoppers at a clearance sale. I ordered a variety of things. I began with some Clam Chowder (phenominal,) then moved onto some Shrimp Pasta. It was fantastic. The shrimp were large and crispy and the pasta was el dente cooked to perfection. I'm pretty sure they used a white wine sauce but all together, what a magnificent meal. Id be lying if I didn't include a 2lbs piece of carrot cake. Damn that was good. Back to the gym in the morning! The service was great, the people were cheerful and happy, and my team was grubbing. This is and has always been a well rounded chain of restaurants. Not like that overrated TV Dinner joint called Red Lobster!

Great service our waitress was Stephanie she's definitely on it! We got the sliders with French fries with "the works" it comes with four so make sure to shaee it, was delicious. We also got the spinach salad with blue cheese instead of feta it was great and the Caesar salad with chicken. I would not recommend the Caesar to anyone who doesn't love anchovies. It was very heavy on the anchovies... we finished our meal off with "the world's smallest sunday," I didn't think it was too small :) overall it was a good lunch. We will be coming back!

Very nice Restaurant. I ate at the one in Palmdale, CA. The menu had a lot to choose from. And the service was fast and courteous. The layout was comfortable and the food was good. Will be going again.

Where to start? I came here for a beer and appetizer on lunch break. I sat at the bar it took 5 minutes for the bartender to come over, when he did he took my order with somewhat of an attitude. Then it took another 20 minutes for my mozzarella sticks to come. The place was pretty dead from what I could see. The food was ok the beer wasn't that cold and kinda flat. Not sure what happened to this place, it used to be awesome when I was younger.

How can a restaurant mess up a Grilled Cheese Sandwich? I hate to be "one of those people" that return a plate, but the grilled cheese was so soggy with butter that it had no crisp at all. The waitress was very friendly, and the manager, although he was accommodating, he didn't seem like he was genuinely concerned, but rather going through the motions of what a manager should do to ease a customer. They sent it back and remade it as they should have, but I've had better customer service that went the extra-mile. I came here for the atmosphere, I loved the old cabin-like feel to it, and have been coming here for years. Disappointed with this Claim Jumpers now, it seems like the interior has been "modernized" and doesn't have the old photographs of miners that brought it that old-fashioned charm. The walls are covered with the same "abstract-gold" massively-produced artwork as well. Now that the atmosphere is gone, there is no reason to come back for the food. I guess it's time to retire this restaurant from our go-to list.

Had not been here in a while and should of stayed that way.wife found a fly in her food manager comes over and says oh its a fruit fly.like thats supposed to make it ok at least didnt have to pay for that one plate eventhough our entire dinner experiance was rined.manager gave a short unfelt sorry and whisked away never coming out again.terrible experiance.wonder if all claim jumpers are ok with fruit flies in your food. .

I been here many times and it's getting worse every time I go. I have to say the manager is a complete idiot !!! They took 2 couple b 4 us that came in after my wife & I . We got put in the corner of the restaurant , Then our fat waiter passed us up twice and we he did come back he said he would be right back to get our Order for drinks . Mind u, we been there for 20 min. There is no way I am paying for this kind of service . So on our way out I asked for the manager to complain he was talking to the hostess about there plans that night . Bad bad bad service.

I've been to Claim Jumper twice in the last 6 months and I really like the food here although I've gotten the Chicken Pot Pie twice so my review is limited. The other food had by others or seen to other patrons all looks great and thankfully CJ has modified their portions. Used to be you went to CJ for quantity. They still have the huge chocolate cake slice and all of that, but I'd say the portions are not so exaggerated but still worth the money. I can tell you that the Chicken Pot Pie is oh so yummy! Perhaps THE BEST in Southern CA, close 2nd is from the Wood Spoon in DT LA. The side salad I had with my meal was fresh and crisp and the ranch dressing is good, tastes homemade. I also like that you can have a decent glass of wine for under $10/glass.

Wow!! First off it was so hot inside! We were all sweating there wasn't even any people eating that should have been my first clue. Our waitress was slow, it took along time for everything to come out even taking our drink orders. I ordered potato skins they were burnt extremely dry. I will never be coming back to this restaurant

I wish I would have read the reviews before going to Claim Jumpers Sunday brunch. Not impressed at all. Instead of prime rib it was roast beef. Normally at a Sunday Brunch u will c a turkey or ham. Not here. They had a small turkey breast. Really! No seafood and the dessert section was a joke. It really left a lot to be desired. We will not be back. Very disappointing. What happened claim Jumper's?

We went there 11/12/13 to get some BBQ Rib. We can say we're 100% disappointed. The food portion was small, Why? I ordered a half rack of Pork ribs + a half rack of Beef ribs. All we got was , a half small rack of dried pork ribs and 2 pieces of beef ribs. It wasn't a half rack of Beef ribs, like it said in the menu. I spent $24.99 for that kind of ribs. It's not worth it, and we feel like we got cheated. For sure, we will not go there anymore. Bad dinner at Claim Jumper!! No wonder why this place is not busy like before.

Really just OK. We went there because we got a gift card of it. The deco is pretty decent and all the dessert in the counter looks really good. But after we made the order, it's REALLY slow for the food to come. For appetizer, we ordered stuffed shrimp enbrochette which is really good with bacon wrapped grilled shrimp on rice. We also got the buffalo wings which can't go wrong normally. And the spicy version is not spicy at all. For entree, my bf got the sesame smothered steak and simply grilled mahi. Both of them, the meat were made way to dry and boring to bite. The smothered cooking style can't go wrong with the flavor though, so the veggie in there tastes good. For the mahi side, the veggie were boiled with butter, which is too oily for me. After the meal, we just won't bother to try the dessert since this place's food are just high calorie but not with good quality material. And no plan to go there again.

This tends to be a favorite fall back restaurant for my family when we can't decide where to go for dinner. They have everything here! They redid their menus and the way they did it really reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory, but I prefer Claim Jumper to Cheesecake. I'm really like to get the half chicken/half ribs plate because you get a bit of both. This comes with a starch or vegetable AND a bread selection. I suggest you stay away from the cheezy bread they try and push on you as the default bread, there are so many other options like the CORNBREAD muffin. Holy crap I pretty much just come to Claim Jumper for that. It's so moist and luscious and just a tad sweet, I always eat the entire thing even though it's totally not good for you. Whatever, can't help it. The plates here are more like platters so be prepared. The fish/shrimp is pretty good according to my BF, and my dad really likes the ribs. I was sad though because they used to have this really good sweet and tangy BBQ sauce but this time when I went they gave me some generic sauce -__- not cool. Chicken was great and I like to get the sweet potato as a side, it's huge! The salads are quite good here too. We also caved and got dessert this time. I was surprised the carrot cake was only $5, it was a big slice (and delicious!). The mini Ideclair was okay... my BF and Dad enjoyed it but I only really liked the hot fudge on top. *They have this motherlode cake on the dessert menu that is about the size of your head. Same goes for the normal size Ideclair (enormous eclair). Oh America I love you.

This review is mainly for the happy hour menu. Drinks are OK but the food not so good. Don't order the BBQ stuffed shrimps ( $7 for three small shrimps). The only reason it is not getting 2 stars is their early dinner specials which is a great deal for your bucks especially the tri tips/stuffed shrimps. Service at the bar is excellent. I will go back for the early dinner special. For happy hour, I will stick with Yard House.

I've always had a great experience at this location. I come during the day...but today I came in right by closing. The cashier was very nice and still took my to go order. Another couple walked in and got seated. I really can't say anything bad. The food is always excellent, great service and huge portions.

I ordered the shrimp pasta and we also had the tenderloin and mashed potatoes...I feel bad giving the bad review but I just didn't like the food... The tenderloin and mashed looked kinda like a microwavable dinner...but didn't taste as bad but not great. The shrimp pasta got me a little sick...I wasn't ready for the oil or butter. I felt like it was too much. I don't know if it was just mine or if that's how they all are hut I didn't like it :/ But the good is that the service was great. They were friendly and helpful. Id give 1 stars for the food. But the staff was very friendly :)

I've came here for 10 plus years and today just wasn't up to Par. Service was good and management was professional. The problem was the food, I ordered a half slab of ribs and so did another guest with me. My ribs were dry, over cooked and just bland. My Friends ribs were burnt completely on the bottom. Claim jumpers just isn't what it once was unfortunately.

What happened to this place?! Seriously? I remember the days when you'd drive by this place and there would be lines to get in. Absurd long lines. Granted--they might get that still---I'm using the term "might" loosely here but it's really not what it used to be. I came here a few nights ago and I found out why. We had a fairly large party, about 8 people total and you'd think that they'd be more attentive---no. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and of course entrees. Well, our server was mediocre at best and our hostess not only sat us away from everyone but in a dark empty section from the rest of the restaurant. Okay...? Anyway the food did not makeup for the lack of service and the ambiance. Needless to say-- I won't be coming here again and I'll stop wondering why I don't see long lines around this place anymore.

I think Claim Jumper is one of those places that you either love or hate. In my case, I know hate is a strong word, but I really, really disliked it. I have no desire to ever return. Why? As soon as we walked in the door, we were hit with a very strong smell. It was a smokey-cooking smell. Honestly, the thought of that smell makes me want to gag. Now, I should probably add I'm halfway through my third pregnancy, but still, that smell... *gag* As for the food, it was pretty unmemorable. I ate there only two weeks ago and I literally had to think hard about what I ordered. But it came back to me, and I ordered the fish & chips. Let's just say I wasn't impressed. I don't have any complaints about the staff. But the food was just so disappointing that I wouldn't even go back if I had a free meal coupon! But to each their own!

Been almost a decade since I went to a Claim Jumpers and being that all food fatties love to eat and this is where you go where your starving, my hubby and I thought we would partake on Saturday. Seeing that each time I drive by this place is always packed, we decided to go early and come in at 5:30. We were offered bar seating b/c the main dining room didn't have tables just available and there was no wait. There was about maybe 4 other tables in the bar area but generally pretty empty. Waiter seemed pleasant and explained the menu options and gave us plenty of time to miff through our choices. When he took our order I proceeded to open the menu, speak and point to the items we wanted: Appetizer sampler, BBQ chicken salad, a well done tri-tip/shrimp platter. He said easy enough, got our order. About 15 minutes later, out came our appetizer, which was not the appetizer sampler but the appetizer combo. I explained to the delivering guy this was not what we ordered. Our waiter had came back to our table and told us "You ordered the appetizer combo." I said I ordered the appetizer sampler. He torted back" Well I read you back your order and you confirmed appetizer combo." I returned and said "well I didn't order that, I don't like what's offered in there so I wouldn't order that. I also pointed to you on the menu what I wanted." He said "Well it is the cheaper of the 2 and I'll bring it out in a few". And left. Seriously! Like if I was concerned about a $6 difference why on earth would I come to claim jumpers in the first place and order anything? What a jerk. At that point my hubby was like WTH...and wanted to cancel our meal altogether because he clearly heard me order the appetizer sampler and to top off this waiter was being such a prick about his messup. But being preggo and starvin', I just told him forget about it and just let it go. The meal was standard good chain food but the tri tip was not completely well done as specified and definitely had some pinky parts, which we brought home for the dogs to enjoy. Less than an hour later, I became ill from the food but was fine after a couple of hours. Two hours later, my hubby became ill and was not ok until the next morning. Now do I believe our food was tainted? I'd like to believe no and that they would uphold the standard of being a good establishment. However, I have seen the movie "Waiting" and given the attitude we received and how ILL we became, ya just never know. What I do know is, I'm never coming back and I'll let karma take care of it the way it deems fit, especially if they messed with our food. And for the jerk waiter in the bar, I know your name, I know where you work and if we continue to get sick or have any life altering effects, especially on my unborn baby, I'm coming to get you.

Just like the Yelp suggestion says, "Meh. I've experienced better." As a token of appreciation, the hubs and I took out our two friends for helping us demolish our crazy old brick fireplace/chimney. They wanted to pig out, so what better place than Claim Jumper. I haven't been here since high school, but from what I remember it was tasty. Man was I wrong. Or my high school taste buds really sucked. Or both. Hm. We ordered: 1. Spinach artichoke dip with chips - bland. Chips were stale. 2. BBQ Chicken salad - no bbq sauce on the salad. Tasted like nothing. Asked for bbq sauce and ended up waiting for 15 mins for the sauce. 3. Shrimp pasta - bland. Again, tasted like nothing. 5. Bowl of clam chowder - meh. 4. Grill combo with tri-tip, ribs, chicken - tasty! This dish was the only good thing we ate. The tri tip was tender and juicy and the ribs were small but yummy! This dinner came out to about $80. Which was super overpriced for the quality of food and the quality of service. We had to ask for things several times before receiving them. While the service was friendly and nice, it was unfortunately still lacking. Advice: if you must eat here, order something off the grill (steaks, tri-tips, ribs, etc.). Everything else is a waste of tummy space.

Dropped in to have a beer and some food at the bar. There was ONE other person at the bar. Ordered two beers from David who apologized for being overweight and then started washing glasses. Waited 5 minutes. Asked David "Hey, how bout those beers?" and he asked for the order again. Waited another 5 min. Did I mention there was ONE other person at the bar! Asked David for the third time "Can we get some beer?" He asked again for what kind of beer we ordered. We finally got two beers. Mine was an Ale after I asked for a Stella three times. Some people are not cut out to work behind the bar... Food was mediocre. Steak was quality and served well. Green beans served with the stems still on, Really? Used to like this place. Not so much these days.

I ordered the roasted tri tip that came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. Veggies had good flavor..very well seasoned. Mashed potatoes were good. The tri tip was good! Had a lot of black pepper on it which gave it a good flavor. Overall, it was a good dish. Service was great btw!

I was there for their sunday brunch, which was very good. When I returned last week for lunch, I ordered seared Ahi, which should have been room temperature with the top layer seared meaning it should be at least warm. HOWEVER, it came out ice cold, which tells me that it has been sitting in the refrigerator and NOT freshly seared. I only had a few bites. My stomach became upset in the evening and the following day. I was extremely disappointed. I will not be returning to that restaurant any time soon.

Service was pretty good, contrary to some other reviews, though we did have four different people coming to us. We gleaned the server who should have had our table was having some sort of personal issues. All four were nice and swift, though. I had a too-sweet margarita. My associate had a just-OK mojito. We opted for soups, salads and appetizers, which didn't blow us away, and something in the spinach salad tasted a little funny. Spooning it onto tortilla strips helped. Although my associate has a rule never to order carrot cake at a restaurant, she rather enjoyed the gigantic slice we shared. This place has old-school ambience. We sat in a booth with a view of no one but the booth right across the aisle. I'd prefer to come here to cozy up on a chilly January evening, but this is July, so I just felt isolated. If I could go back in time four hours, I would tell past me to seek out a different place.

I came here on thursay nite with my company for our christmas diner. First the staff including the manager Dan has been very warmth with our group and took care of us accordingly. They were not pushy so we really enjoyed our diner together. Of course I did not eat much as I was the spoke person for the company, instead I had an apetizer and drank wayyyy too much mimosa. Anywa, by the time I got to the speech I was already unwind and ready to give my speech away. Anyway, I do recommend this place for those of you who wish to enjoy a nice evening either in small or large group. If you go there just ask for either Dan or Cristina and tell them I sent you. You'll know for sure you'll get the special treatment. This place deserve the 4 stars.

Blech... Much like Baja Fresh, I was disappointed with my Claim Jumper experience this weekend. I take the blame upon myself, for missing one important ingredient when reading the menu, but it's just not right to have something like that on their menu...lol. The bf ordered the parmesan crusted chicken, which is just a nice way of saying chicken parmigiano. It's served with spaghetti and the tiniest serving of spinach (literally like 5 leaves). I ordered the Gold Rush Chicken, because I remembered that it was basically a chicken madeira with mashed potatoes and veggies. What I completely missed when reading the menu was that they add sour cream to their madeira sauce. Now, perhaps in moderation, this might be an interesting sauce combination. However, when I opened up my dish (we ordered takeout), there was this thick, white sauce covering my chicken, with only a bitter remnant of madeira wine. There were raw red onions on top, and overcooked veggies on the side. The best part of the meal was the mashed potatoes. Never ordering that again.

This place isn't bad. Not bad at all. I went here with a very large group, so obviously, I didn't get to see how the service REALLY was. My overall experience was pretty nice. I ordered their seasonal chopped cobb salad, which was good, but after the 4th or 5th bite, I was bored of it. This salad sounded very appealing..it consisted of the usual..eggs, tomatoes, bacon, but what made it stand out was the avocado and gorgonzola cheese..mm :) My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak which was very nicely done. However, I felt that the steak was just a tad overcooked (perhaps it was put in the fryer for just a second too long..) The gravy on it was awesome, and the mashed potatoes were just a bit too chunky. Nonetheless, I'd probably order this dish again. Servers here were generally pretty friendly, but weren't always on top of things. The prices here are ok. The portions are very large, so I would suggest to order a small unless you're Michael Phelps or something.

The food is gross and unhealthy. The restaurant is dark and depressive. The service is always friendly - no complaints there. But there is almost nothing to eat that is under 2000 calories, and it isn't even that good. Burgers are huge and dry and tasteless. Everything is huge and tasteless. Not sure why people keep talking me into eating here - I work close by, but really . . .

What happened to quality, delicious food and great service ? We have been enjoying this location for many years to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. This last visit ended our " tradition" , if you will. Our food was not what it has been , I didn't order anything new , as I always order my usual . The waiter appeared to have way too many tables, I asked him for a few items, never saw them. Party of 8 waited almost 20 minutes waiting for our waiter to re- appear, I had finally found a manager and she printed our check for us. We had a dessert in mind , but decided to pass. We definitely will miss the old Claim Jumper with great service, great food and enjoyable atmosphere that once could be found here . What a shame.

What can I say, been here a couple of times and we have had a great time. The ambiance is cool and serene. The food was great, it all depends what you order. The service was exceptional. Huan our server provided excellent and professional service. I recommend getting the Landry Select Preferred Card. It cost $25 up front, but you get that back on your next visit. You also get other great perks, it is definitely worth the price. Oh, and get the Stuffed Baked Potato, it was delicious. The Alfredo sauce is the bomb. Keep in mind that quality of food is above some, but it is still a chain restaurant, so don't be too judgmental.

I'm normally a little more of an adventurous eater and tend to avoid chain restaurants when I can but my Dad wanted to go to Claim Jumper for his birthday. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good the potato cheddar soup was - huge chunks of potatoes and carrots and not too salty, one of my pet peeves. I had the Tiapia Blanca and was impressed with the large portion, especially after seeing my Dad's small Norwegian Salmon portion. The tilapia was breaded in panko bread crumbs and severed with a creamy white wine sauce and topped with shrimp and artichoke hearts. It was delicious! My husband had a huge burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with an order of potato skins which were a little disappointing. There were plenty for the three of us to share but were a little bland. Some scallions really would've made the dish (and I think they used to serve them that way). All in all, it was a nice dinner for a chain but I still like to explore the little hole in the wall mom and pop shops.

I rembered Claim Jumper was really good, the portions were huge and tasty. How they have fallen. Came here for my sons birthday. Was thinking of going to Red Lobster....should off!!! I ordered a Long Island Iced tea and found a hair in it, to make matters worst it was a nose hair yuck. The manager came and apoligized and ordered me another drink. We then ordered 4 porther house steaks to be cooked medium rare. The steaks came...2 were cooked right, the other two were cooked medium. They were bone dry and chewy, we wanted juicy steaks not beef Jerky! Again the manager was called, he again apoligized and order two more steaks. They came out cooked right this time. But what kind of cooks do they have that can't cook steaks right? They have gone down big time. I won't be comming back soon. One thing good was that they gave my son a free red velvet cupcake for his birthday!

We went here for my friends B-day. We had a party of 17. They were able to a range the tables so all of us could sit together. I had the rib eye steak which was ok , i got very little vegetables, and a lot of onions.I also had their 8 oz lemonade which was expensive at $3.75. The garlic cheese toast had way too much garlic Overall they have good service and is the reason why i gave them 1 star but for their prices, the food is not that great. Oh yeah there was 1 more thing. When we got the bill it was over $500 dollars.Which was expected, because we were a big party(17) and we got hit with a mandatory service charge (gratitude) of 18% which was like $95 dollars. I honestly hate when restaurants do that. What is the difference? of serving a table of 17 or two tables of 8?? and why is it mandatory.what about if the service is terrible.Do you still have to pay.YUP! Also forget trying to to get your bill split when its a big party.Because then they can't charge you that service charge.

I used to love Claim Jumper when I lived in Orange County and there was a Claim Jumper practically on every corner. The Claim Jumper in Monrovia is not that far from my house (about 20 minutes) but I hadn't been there in awhile because there are much closer restaurants in Pasadena. It is as good as I remembered! Grilled Vegetable & Goat Cheese Sandwich - Huge and delicious! You don't miss the meat at all because the portobello mushrooms are meaty and plentiful. The eggplant, zucchini and portobello are all marinated in a balsamic vinaigrette perfectly! There are also onions, carrots, avocado, field greens and roasted tomatos. YUMMY! It's served on a grilled herb bread with pesto sauce and goat cheese. The sandwich is very flavorful and filling. You also get a pickle spear and your choice of a side. I chose the seasoned fries. The fries are perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper and are thin and crispy and Delicious! I'll definitely being scheduling some meals at the Claim Jumper more often now. I didn't realize how much I missed this place until now!

I hate stereotypes. It's never fair to describe any group of people by using negative generalizations, but go on any Internet message board and you'll see countless postings from haters overseas--mainly Europeans--referring to Americans as overweight, overfed, gluttonous slobs. Of course, we know that's not entirely accurate. We're not all living 4XL. Nevertheless, every stereotype has some kernel of truth, and if you drive by Claim Jumper on a Saturday night, you'll find a whole bunch of those kernels. They're waiting outside: the doughy, lumpy, heart diseased citizenry of the SGV, and it's not hard to see why they flock to Claim Jumper. Almost every entree at Claim Jumper comes served on a platter, with enough deep-fried food to a send a small army into cardiac arrest. They don't even try to disguise the fact that the food will kill you. After all, one of the most popular items on the menu is the Widow Maker Burger. And if that burger doesn't sufficiently clog your arteries, you can order a gigantic slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Yum! Hey, don't get me wrong, I actually like the food at Claim Jumper. It's standard steakhouse fare. I just don't understand why the portions are so ridiculously huge. The service at this location was pretty lousy the last time we were in. The waitress never came around to refill our drinks and I had a couple of thirsty teens with me. If you have a normal appetite, I highly recommend sharing a plate with a companion. Otherwise, anticipate carrying home a doggie bag...or two.

Ok so I came here the other night with the bf and the daughter for some dinner and I was really disappointed in the service and quality over all it was like going to an over priced dennys. Maybe it was cause it was late that everything was so crappy. The waitress couldn't have been less attentive, the food was bland and my meal came with mashed potatoes and they were closer to baked potato then mashed they had no flavor the drinks were weak and expensive. My bf order a well done steak and they gave him burnt steak. I don't think will be coming back anytime soon.

We were there on a very busy Sunday, they messed up our order but the manager totally made it up to us and the food was good. Praise them for turning a boo boo into an opportunity to make customers happy and greatful that there are still some people who knows how to run a restaurant and provide great service. Cheers!

I hadn't been here in a while and decided just to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised that within the last few years the place had improved on food and service quality. The food selections are very good, and portions are legendarily epic. This is not a place to go if you're on some sort of calorie-counting diet (unless you like to max out your calories, then you're in the right place). We visited about three times in the last three weeks, the first was a few days after Christmas. We tried the Prime Rib (which is a special menu there) and it was superb: very tender and flavorful. We also had the pork ribs which were excellent and not overcooked like some places do it. On the next visit they didn't have Prime Rib so I went with Ribeye steak, and that was also very good. They do well not just at the main courses, but also side dishes and appetizers. We had potatoes about three ways and all were good, mashed, solid, etc. The onion rings are first rate. Also, don't forget desert. That's easy to do in a place where you're really challenged to finish your meal, but they have some excellent deserts. The Chocolate Motherlode cake (if that's the name) is a marvel: moist, rich, decadent and excessively huge. We got maybe 1/3 through it, took it home and finished it two days later and it was still moist. Also did the Cookies and Cream cake with ice cream and that was also spectacular. A word on service. Very good here, the servers were attentive and quick to respond. They also knew their menu well and could make good recommendations, you'd be surprised at how many places the servers can't do that. If you are hungry for American food, want a good family-type restaurant with an excellent theme presentation, or if you just want to indulge yourself I'd highly recommend this place. I probably won't give it 5 stars (the main drawback for me is the price), but a very solid 4.

The staff was great and once again the Food was amazing. We went in with a party of 50 and it was also closing time. They were very accommodating and the food came VERY fast for the amount of people that were there. I cannot say enough great things about this location. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. Go get your Yelp on.

Hadn't been to a CJ in about 10 years, was very disappointed. Portions are smaller (probably a good thing, they were massive back then!), but the quality of the food was marginal. I had beef and pork ribs, over cooked and definitely not worth $25. GF had the club, all bread. Looks huge, but there was maybe one strip of bacon on the whole sandwich! Not worth $13. For the $50 we spent we should have gone to OB down the street, would have have way better food, plus salads and bread for the same money. Will not eat here again.
Been here lots of times and tried something different. Asked about the jumbalaya if it was spicy. Was told, no not so much. Yikes.... it was hot (spicy). My friend had something that was spicy hot and couldn't even eat it. They did re-make the food and it was much better. Service does need to be quicker.

Went here for a Father's Day eve meal and went with the triple grill platter, which consist of ribs, tri-tip steak and a chicken breast. The chicken was probably the best I've had in a long time. The tri-tip was also very tasty, although it was kind of tough. The ribs were good, but I've had better at other places. This is a great deal at $14.99, but the prices here overall are pretty steep. I usually wouldn't come here unless there's a special deal going on.

I want to love this place. I remember the early days when it was the new thing in town. The food was good and so was the service. Now, not so much...unfortunately. I went about a year ago with my family and had some issues with the quality of the food. That's why we hadn't been back, but like I said, I wanted to like this place so decided to give it a try again. My wife had the salad bat. She enjoyed it. My daughter had Mac n cheese. It wasn't good at all. Very bland. She didn't even finish it. My son had a burger. It was raw. They took it back and brought a new one. I had the frisco burger. It was on the raw side as well. The manager took care of us, but the point is I wanted a good meal and there out of four us didn't get it. I'm guessing I will be back next year for another try.

July 2012: I'm not good at negative reviews but....on a quiet weekday evening the serive was a little out of step. Great onion rings but disappointed that they would not serve jambalaya on rice the way they used to, it was over pasta instead and while having great flavor it was more of a soup than would have cared for.
We did something different this year (who the hell wants to cook!) and went here for Thanks Giving. The food was okay they only had three offerings turkey, fish & prime rib. I had the turkey and he had the prime rib. Turkey was okay not dry or anything, just okay. The prime rib was decent it was juicy and had a tad of flavor I mean every thing was okay. They even have a baby plate for lil bear, very thoughtful. The only problem is that we had to get the pumpkin pie or apple we chose one of each but the waitress gave us two pumpkin pies oh and the men's shitter was clogged that sucked. Oh and the one hour wait sucked but hey! Overall every thing was decent nice and we even received a $10.00 gift card toward another meal. You know that's going towards that behemoth chocolate cake, for sure!

I will probably never return again. Went there for a friend's birthday dinner and it was a bad experience all the way through. We had a huge party, we made reservations, arrived early, yet they still weren't able to accommodate us. Our party had to actually separate in order for all of us to have seats. I really didn't expect that. Where's the fun in having a birthday dinner when people aren't even sitting together? I got the shrimp scampi and it was awful. There was no flavor whatsoever. It seem as though they just cooked the shrimp and forgot to season it. I thought it was just me but when others tried it they said the same thing. Oh well, I guess better luck next time?

Food is really bad at this location. I love the Brea one but was in the area so went here. I ordered the roasted chicken dinner and the chicken was gross. They still have the big sizes but the food is real mediocre. Also for 3 of us the bill was pretty high considering what we ordered. I think the majority was the fountain drinks. So get water and order off the appetizer&soup menu.

I come usually once a year. And every year it seems to go downhill. For the money back then it was worth every penny. Awesome quantity and taste. Now the food is cold, the quantity has greatly been reduced. Service is still very good tho. This maybe my last year.

Took one hour or more to get order out. Slow service. Food similar quality of Denny's but priced slightly higher. Not a fan.

LOL.
(1)Dotty G.
The portion sizes are half what they used to be their huge pieces of cheesecake are a thing of the past very very small, things have really changed here. The server was nice and very good but as far as the food goes nothing like it used to be. Price has gone up, portions down.
(3)Robert O.
Dont bother going here, ordered the fish and chips and when it came out, the chips were cold. I sent it back and when it came back out, most of the fish was cold...NEVER GOING BACK
(1)Corey S.
No complaints on my end. Service was good, typical Claim Jumper food. I do enjoy the fact I get one trip to the salad bar instead of the salad that comes with my meal.
(4)Jorge A.
I Ordered the chicken the most basic staple of nutrition and protein. It's not like I ordered the out of season machu pichu whatever that is ... it's 3 PM really what they didn't forsee someone ordering chicken at this time of the day. What a bunch of clowns
(1)Franklin M.

(5)Johnny N.

(4)Stephanie D.
(4)Cedric N.
Very nice Restaurant. I ate at the one in Palmdale, CA. The menu had a lot to choose from. And the service was fast and courteous. The layout was comfortable and the food was good. Will be going again.
(5)Kayden H.
I remember coming here and it being better. I agree with everyone else who reviewing the quality of food is not there, for the price we paid it should have been better.
(2)Craig W.
wonderful BBQ comfort food always a good time to celebrate a birthday
(4)Jake L.
(2)Bob M.
I had the 7oz filet this evening and it was great. Service could have been a bit faster but the food is always good.

(1)Martha S.
Had not been here in a while and should of stayed that way.wife found a fly in her food manager comes over and says oh its a fruit fly.like thats supposed to make it ok at least didnt have to pay for that one plate eventhough our entire dinner experiance was rined.manager gave a short unfelt sorry and whisked away never coming out again.terrible experiance.wonder if all claim jumpers are ok with fruit flies in your food. .
(1)Robinson R.
(1)Michele S.
(4)Stephanie F.
Wow!! First off it was so hot inside! We were all sweating there wasn't even any people eating that should have been my first clue. Our waitress was slow, it took along time for everything to come out even taking our drink orders. I ordered potato skins they were burnt extremely dry. I will never be coming back to this restaurant
(1)Jessica D.
Went here for Happy Hour.. the prices were good. But the food was just ok. Service was fast and attentive, but unfortunately I probably wouldn't go back because of the food.
(3)Sandi M.
(3)Michael D.
(1)Julia Z.

(3)Jung C.
(3)Maria H.
I've always had a great experience at this location. I come during the day...but today I came in right by closing. The cashier was very nice and still took my to go order. Another couple walked in and got seated. I really can't say anything bad. The food is always excellent, great service and huge portions.
(5)Kevin J.
(2)Richard L.
Service was good food sucked. Been to many claim jumpers and this one befor but not in a few years. Food was just prepared like they dident care. Save your money and go to many of the other good choices in the area.
(1)Henry E.
(2)Christie S.
My filet Mignon was perfect. Along with my dessert. Busy as usual, but service with a smile. Yum

(2)RAMON S.
Terrible service waited 35 minutes for food. No spoons and then the server forgets water for 20 mins was like Houdini. No wonder I haven't been here in 12 yrs some things never change !!!

I came here for their happy hours while i was waiting for my work time. The service are ok, with my bill ended up 10 dollars. I saw their servers kiss on the cheek, cute :-)

Not sure why people keep talking me into eating here - I work close by, but really . . .
(1)Marauder M.
Very expensive for what you get, but the food and service was good.

All in all, it was a nice dinner for a chain but I still like to explore the little hole in the wall mom and pop shops.

great food and overwhelming portion size for the price. minus one star because we had mediocre service.
(4)Dave K.

(2)Renee P.

(4)Jay S.

(3)Tom S.
(3)Jas G.
(2)Jon U.
July 2012: I'm not good at negative reviews but....on a quiet weekday evening the serive was a little out of step. Great onion rings but disappointed that they would not serve jambalaya on rice the way they used to, it was over pasta instead and while having great flavor it was more of a soup than would have cared for.

Years back, I used to go to this restaurant with my wife and kids, I even took my parents here when they came to visit. So a couples of weeks ago, being in the area I decided to go have lunch with my wife and daughter. Well, what a surprise and NOT A GOOD ONE. Everything is changed, the décor, the service and above all the menu. The food quality went way down, but the prices went way up. I ordered baby back ribs. I had a tough time separating them, I had to use the knife in order to do so. The meat was dry, over done and it was not even warm. The sauce stained my finger for days on. My wife was not happy with her food at all. My daughter barely ate her pasta. This is not the restaurant I used to love. I should known something was bad when we didn't have to wait to be seated (like we used to). When the chicken broilers were not being used. When the huge bison head that used to adorn the wall mas missing, I was told the chain was sold, well whoever bought it certainly knew how to kill a goo product. Never again will I go to this place. It sucks.

(4)Winnie L.
(2)Jocey K.
(2)D T.
I come usually once a year. And every year it seems to go downhill. For the money back then it was worth every penny. Awesome quantity and taste. Now the food is cold, the quantity has greatly been reduced. Service is still very good tho. This maybe my last year.
(3)Romeo R.
Took one hour or more to get order out. Slow service. Food similar quality of Denny's but priced slightly higher. Not a fan.
