Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Food is good, as always. Placed an order through the app at 1:35, pickup for 2. Came at 2, line out he door. When I came up to the pickup counter I stood there with no eye contact for 7 minutes. I get it, they have a line, but I figured they would want me to get my food and get out. Then one staff member who was bagging chips says "the line starts over there". Duh! But I placed my order online. When they found it, it wasn't ready. So my 1:35 order, and 2pm pickup was received at 2:13....ugh. Seriously chipotle. Get it together and work on customer service. Annoying.

Ate there two times and each time my burrito was cold. This time eating there they brought out my meat in a little plastic cup from the back, which was strange and cold! The portions also seemed very small for the price. Cold burritos aren't good!
(2)Denise F.
The lot here is very small & parking is a challenge, but the food & customer service at this location is great! Everything was very fresh & the burritoistas were super friendly & listen very carefully to what you want. There's a good amount of seating here, but beware of crossing the parking lot because the Starbucks drive-thru is always busy!

Mmy husband and I love their food. However, after the price increases in July, did you know that they CUT BACK on the portions that go in, specifically the meat. A worker told me, they have been given specific instructions on how much to give us, it used to be fairly generous. Just like Dreyers ice cream did a few years back. Made containers smaller, did not lower price. In fact, it went up. This is a new corporate tactic for them to make more money! Just in the last few years. We pay more, get less and they hope we won't notice or realize. It doubles the price increase. Who suffers, us! Folks, it DID NOT used to be like this. This is big corporate greed in action. Complain! I guarantee you they do not raise the poor workers pay. No one is getting raises anywhere, just more work to do. But the corporate big wigs DO get raises, larger mansions, jewelry and more fancy cars. I hope you young people will fight corporate greed. I am a senior citizen and too tired to fight it, but I see it and it sickens me. Corporate greed is running our country. Take heed.

1. The parking lot is really small. 2. The line moves slower than any other chipotles, because the staff is unable to work as a team and none of them know how to multi-task. 3. Speaking of unable to multitask, Why do they ask me what kind of rice and beans I want, while pressing my tortilla, if 100% of the time when they do that, they place the tortilla on the foil and then look up and say, "did you say Brown Rice and Black beans?" No, no I didnt. 4. When I've tried to skip the line and do an online order, it always ends up being just as difficult as making it through the gauntlet. 5. I think another reason the line moves slow compared to other chipotles, is because they only have 1 tortilla press. Most of them I think have 2 tortilla presses, so the initial worker can put more product out faster. 6. A few times I've bitten into like, rock hard "somethings" in the chicken. Probably a nerve or a bone piece or something. That being said theres a few people that work there that seem to be on top of things, and the food generally comes out like a clone of every other burrito I've had at chipotle. Cool.

After eating at this Chipotle many times I am always amazed at how they find a way to ruin the experience. More often than not, the quality or portion of food just is not right. The service is ridiculously slow and borderline hating what they do. Tonight's experience has required the I update my review. In the $40 of food that we purchased tonight we had issues with burned/charcoal vegetables and guac that ended up sliding off the food on to the table. Not too long ago I had a burrito bowl that had a 1/2 of water in the bottom. While the Chipotle menu is the same everywhere, the quality of the preparation of the items cooked locally changes greatly. What did I learn today? I am driving to Pleasant Hill for Chipotle next time.

One of the worst Chipotles I have been to. Lines moves slow. People are nice but have little to no training, and aren't very professional. I think management is absent or isn't really management. They run out of food. Last time was guacamole, today was white rice. As I was asking for guacamole (I know it is extra, now $2.10 wow) there were flies all around it. I was so blessed that the two unprofessional workers were telling each other about flies landing in the guacamole! Ah thanks, I received about a teaspoon of guacamole and she wasn't paying attention because she was telling her fly story to the other worker. Apparently the back door is left open allowing flies in. Is there a manager that works here? Never seen one. I would skip this one if I were you.

My go-to lunch place. Food is always good, whether 3 tacos or the burrito bowl, most of the time I order chicken but the steak is really good. Good condiments and the salsa is always fresh. I see alot of people order the burritos but they are so filling that I want to take a nap on my keyboard after lunch. I like the green jalapeno Tabasco sauce. It is interesting to see the policemen and woman come in for lunch, especially the women carrying their Glock 9mm on their side holsters.
(4)jessica b.
Hair in my food tonight.. Defiantly not mine.... They never have any veggies made so I always have to wait... Since they are rushed they don't cook the veggies all the way. Super annoying.
(1)Kanoa U.
I'm not sure why this had such a low score... The staff was friendly, food was fresh, and the facility was clean. For me this is a good standard 3 star place. I don't usually give more than 3 for anything that is a chain/franchise/etc.
(3)karla r.
The worse customer service. The employees have no clue on how to help you. Had a problem with my gift card and it says on the gift card to go into the restaurant. The guy just looked lost. He asked the manager for help and she too said they don't know what to do about the gift card. She said she was a manager but said maybe someone else could help me on Mon. Seriously??? They have no clue!!
(1)Deirdre M.
Worse Chipotle ever! Lines always slow and workers seem to not know the right hand from the left. The worse part is their skimpy portions! I order a rice, beans, chicken and cheese bowl and the bowl is only half filled. Wtf! The servers must be told to only give a spoonful, and shake off any excess! Give me a break. Almost $10! Totally not worth the money. Today the rice was over salted making it inedible! I think I'll drive the extra miles and go to WC of Lafayette. Get your act together, Martinez Chipotle!
(1)Alicia H.
I have been to this location twice, and each time the experience was less than memorable. From the 40 degree below zero Guacamole that will give you a toothache once bitten into, to the bland Pico De Gallo and the extremely under-seasoned chicken. This has to be one of the WORST locations I have ever been to! I am an extremely polite person when it comes to dealing with those in Customer Service positions, because I've been in their shoes. But, this food was SO bad that I wanted to go back in and toss my burrito at the preparers face. You have one job to do, which is make my food the exact way I told you, since I'm paying an arm and a leg for it. Clearly they couldn't even do that right! Being that I am pregnant... Again... *lol*... I am super serious about my Chipotle! I was very disappointed because this was the second time they screwed up my food. I guess I assumed that they would be better the second time around, boy was I wrong! We live in Vacaville, but travel to Concord and Pleasant Hill frequently. We usually go to the Pleasant Hill Chipotle location because they're absolutely awesome!!! Only problem is because of their location they are always super busy. So we decided to give this location a try, again, and it was an epic failure. If you're ever in Martinez, do yourself a favor and drive to Pleasant Hill. Stay far, far away from this location. All Chipotle's are NOT created equal!!
(1)David C.
A good place to eat. I enjoy getting the bowls but the parking lot here is crazy.
(3)Karmen D.
So glad Martinez has a Chipotle! Super convenient location but a bit crowded due to a small parking lot to be shared with Starbucks, Verizon Wireless and The Dollar Store. Off peak and on the service is good and the food is always fresh. Believe it or not the margaritas are good and they offer Patron if you want to turn it up a notch. Chicken salad, no rice, no cheese, no sour cream, w/black beans, fajitas, medium and mild salsa. Delicious and only 345 calories #EatClean
(4)lisa j.
In addition to parking issues..the staff was extremely rude. The place was out of ice. the chicken was not cooked all the way and was fatty. Both of our chicken burrito bowls were cold! Overall it was a terrible experience. We will try the one in Pleasant Hill.
(1)Frank and Carol P.
Great food, made with healthy stuff, fast food with out the fat. It's great they moved in to Martinez, we had to go to Pleasant Hill before.
(5)Alicia D.
Worst Chipotle I have been too. So stingy on meat. Usually all chipotle is like this but this place is the worst. Then they try to trick you by giving you extra salas on tacos to make it look like more meat. Never coming back.
(1)blink v.
Not only have their prices increased, but THEY'RE GIVING MUCH SMALLER PORTIONS TOO and in a sneaky way thinking the public don't notice!!! But I noticed, and so have others on yelp. Really chipotle stop being so sneaky and greedy! Next time I will demand that they weigh the item at the end before I pay, and also demand that they use measured serving cups for the various items since they're being sneaky. This will allow more transparency and openness. If I don't get what I pay for the next time I go, then I will go elsewhere.
(2)D S.
I like Chipotle... I gave four stars for the sifting of meat. Its a really busy location, but to be expected, its Chipotle! I usually come around lunch time from work. If I was not on work lunch, I would definitely go to a different location
(4)Ken F.
I got a burrito and a burrito bowl last night. I was shocked and how small the portions were. I should have said something about it at the time but didn't. I heard someone else complain about the portions as well. Two of the food trays (meat and cheese) were virtually empty when they 'scooped' up the portion for my order. I figured they certainly they would get more, but they didn't. The portions were pretty much all the same - about a level spoon full instead of a heaping spoon full. Except from the tray there were almost empty. Those were just of hint of something that had been stuck to the spoon. I've gotten lunch there before and the portions were what I would call normal. I guess the night manager is trying to get a bonus by skimping on portions. He or she won't if the service stays like this and customers stop coming. The two stars is for the portions size, and so so service. The quality was OK. If corprate is concerned about their overall image and reputation, they should look at the reviews here and do something. This is not a well managed outlet.
(2)Destine R.
Monday I had a burrito bowl from this location. It was bout 730-8pm and the chicken was being prepped, nonetheless the employees rushed the cooking of the chicken due to the line and inadvertently placed customers at risk. I woke up the next morning vomiting with food poisoning. I would NEVER recommend this place due to clear lack of health of customers. Simply ask customers to be patient and I'm sure they will understand the wait if it means their health is at risk.
(1)Sascee V.
This is my neighborhood chipotle but I'm ready to drive 10 miles away than to patronize this store. They are slow, the portions are small compared to other locations and they have the nerve to be rude when they truly don't listen. I don't understand why a place would have an inexperience person make bowls and burritos as well as complete fax orders in the middle of lunch time rush!
(2)Elijah B.
4 Stars being that I LOVE Chipotle. Cannot go wrong with a burrito when I get my moneys worth. Minus 1 star at this location because one of the servers here was so stingy with the meat (ordered steak). I know how much a serving is, according to the Chipotle website, a serving for meat is 4oz, and I know how much 4oz in meat is, I weigh my food daily (really into fitness). I also asked for 'extra' rice/sauce/sour cream/cheese/etc and the server would somewhat give me a vibe after asking for more; the first scoop of rice was not even a heaping spoon full, and the second scoop was about half of spoon. I feel like I am being jipped have the time on the meat! Parking sucks sometimes (busy hours), and this is the closest Chipotle in the Martinez area, so you are bound to run into some of the trashy locals around (also near Wal-Mart). Glad this opened up closer, as I do not have to go to Pleasant Hill to get my burrito fix.
(4)Ani A.
Not sure what everyone is complaining about. I had an awesome experience. Great food, great customer service.
(5)Alexis F.
I'm not really sure why chipotle offers an online ordering option. This is usually to make it fast and convenient but this is the third time I've come here after an online order and they look at me so confused and had no idea about my order... Then they pull like 6 receipts out of the printer and after I'm already in the restaurant they try and make time to fill my order. I have a pick up time of 11:15 and it's now 11:23 and they haven't even started making my food. I'm so over this place. I don't think I'll be giving them a FOURTH shot at getting it right.
(1)Michael B.
This place was decent before the start of this year. Used to have ok food and portions NOW IT IS BAAAAAAD. They give WAY less meat than should be there, and the beef is filled with INEDIBLE grisly garbage. burrito bowl is code for "Please rip me off and give me one bite of meat and a pound of lettuce" We have quit going here and wasting hard earned money. The employees seem to be nice :)
(1)Mikenna G.
Worst experience I've had with chipotle ever. Had a whole bunch of little kids who had no idea what they were doing holding up the line because they were all talking and joking amongst each other. Paid $30 for two baby burritos and a burrito bowl and they have enough nerve to try and skimp on the fajita vegetables... Literally had to ask for more on each item and to boot they charged me for guacamole I didn't even order? Defiantly lost a customer after today.
(1)Rob C.
Smaller and smaller portions for $10 regardless whether it's a bowl, a burrito or tacos. Half an hour wait to order a chicken burrito, not really outside the box here. 86 chicken, black beans, rice and lettuce. I wait an additional 15 minutes for everything to be prepped and then have to wait for a cashier. I walked out before I lost my shit and said something, no food in hand. 45 minutes of my life I n vet get back. Eat at La Primavera!
(1)Mike C.
This place always stinks!!! Every time we go here it stinks, not on the other chipotle though, just here. Smells rotting pigs food.
(1)Justin G.
This is consistently one of the WORST Chipotles I go to and it's simply the proximity that keeps me coming back but after this nasty ass brownish avocado in our guac...I don't even know...apparently it's a seasonal avocado issue according to their staff. But I don't know why the replacement guac they gave us was about 5 shades greener if it's a seasonal issue. I only harp on this because Chipotle always boasts fresh ingredients but this was so not the case.
(1)Bernadette M.
A new spot near my grandparents' house and where I used to ride my bike in the dirt before anything was ever built here. The parking lot is small and watch out for the folks driving crazy to get in the drive-thru line for some Starbucks. The set up is like any Chipotle and it was spotless. I was happy to find that the line wasn't super long at 1 pm on a weekday. Since they're rather new they were kind of having a challenging time with a big catering order so they weren't focusing on what I was telling them that I wanted. Regardless, I got what I wanted to eat although it took a few repeated requests. Good luck to this location. I'm sure I'll be back.
(4)Angel A.
We live just a mile and a half away from this Chipotle, and we go here about once a week. The food always tastes great and it's healthier than some other options in the area when we need something fast. I will admit I've had some spotty not great service, but more often than not, we've had good service. Everyone has off days, and since I work in the service industry, I tend to be a little less harsh and more patient than others. I get the same thing every single time: burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, chicken, fajita veggies, double mild salsa and lots of lettuce. Depending on who's working, I get a different amount of rice and chicken, which isn't great, but they always put more in the bowl when I ask. And they always seem to be low or out of the fajita veggies. During one visit, they ran out of steak for my fiancee's burrito and they asked me to wait while it cooked. Since I wasn't in a big hurry, I didn't mind. They didn't even charge me for the burrito when I got to the register! The staff is also patient with my kid when she orders, 7 year olds can be picky. The restaurant is always clean, well-stocked, the music is good and I always find a table.
(4)David B.
Good food, but they need more staff. They have forgotten chips on my on line order and they also forgot to make my order after I placed it, so when I showed up, I was told they simply forgot. I had to wait around like everyone else. If there was another good burrito joint around I would go there instead. Again, food is worth the trouble, but they could do better.....like more staff....cause they are very busy!!!
(3)Rochelle R.
This place I'm sure would be amazing... If there was ever any parking. I love the part where there are always the same 4-6 vehicles from the Starbucks/verizon/chipotle employees in the prime parking spots. I've been able to eat here 1 time since they have opened and it was a fluke. I was going to Starbucks and it was 10:55... Right before 11am opening and sure enough a few spots to park. I went in and was 3rd in line. By the time I went to order my food there were 15 people in line waiting... I counted. Here's the kicker... You had ONE person working the ordering line at the start of business which backed up all those people. Finally after my order a second person joined, but by that time it's too late. You're already backed up for the lunch crowd. Employees need to be ready at 11 and not let the line back up (which Backs up the parking lot) and all employees should be parking someone else. That's 4-6 spots that could open up to customers. I'd average that out by your total customer base per hour and figure in how much revenue you are losing. I know I did! Add a pick up only parking spot. I'd preorder if I knew I could go in and out and not have to worry about parking on the other side of the lot (if there was parking).
(1)Laurie L.
I usually get great customer service here.... not tonight. I ordered 2 quesadillas and they were so skimpy with the meat and I asked for bell peppers and they told me it was a $ 1 charge. I'm not a cheap skate and I know it's only a dollar but Wth Is the difference. I've never been charged before., portions were pathetic and the new staff was lacking customer service! Boo.
(1)Johnny W.
If you're wondering why it's difficult to locate this Chipotle when you're trying to check-in here, and why it's located half a mile away..; that's because the pin drop location on the map is way off!!! It has it located east of Morello Ave., instead of being on the west side. The exact location is between Shadowfalls Dr. and the Walmart, so ignore the map! The first time I came here was on April 1st, 2013; when they were only opened for less than a week. Back then, their service was extremely slow that it felt like a broken down ride at Disneyland. After I finally reached the front counter, the employees were very frugal with their portions. Definitely the smallest portions that I've ever seen at all the Chipotle's that I've been too. I actually had to ask her twice to add more rice to my burrito bowl. They were definitely in their learning phase. Since I've returned on May 14th, they have been very good at increasing their serving portions; although their service is still very slow, but it's still a massive improvement. The interior of the restaurant is actually bigger than it looks from the outside; but unfortunately.., the parking lot is way too small. I will be returning, but I will come before noon or sometime after their lunch hour rush.
(3)Mary E.
Only because this location is super close to my home and work place have I come back a few times since my last review and yet it continues to go down hill. Terrible customer service. Not only slow but the employees are always wrapped up in their own conversations and too busy screwing around with each other to pay attention to their job. Don't have plans to return anytime soon or give them any more chances. The last few times I went they were out of or scrapping the bottom of containers for both chicken and steak. Also they are often out of fajita veggies all together even during non peak hours. My very last order included two items that were completely sub par. One was a chicken bowl that was about 1/2-2/3 of the size of what it normally should be. But at least it was warm. The other item was a simple basic cheese quesadilla that once I got to work and opened it up found it was not even melted! I felt so bad because I had brought it for a coworker and once we were at work we can't leave to take it back for a replacement so we were stuck with it. Basically it was nothing but the tortilla and grated cheese which unfortunately without a grill or quesadilla maker we couldn't finish the melting process. Instead we had to settle for a microwave melting job which wasn't nearly as good. On a final note regarding the whole chain of Chipotle, it's definitely a turn off when they make the news for immature pranks of employees in New York when police officers walked in for their lunch break. Regardless of anyone's opinion on the controversial current events, employees of any organization should have the maturity level to behave appropriately while working and representing their company.
(1)Aaron W.
I rarely ever do Chipotle I prefer real Mexican restaurants but it was on my way home and I decided to do it. I order the carne asada burrito with brown rice and pinto beans with everything in it. The service was excellent the store seemed very clean and well organized and the food was exactly what I expected from Chipotle. If I ever get a rare hankerin for Chipotle again I would definitely return to location since it's close to my house and I had a very positive experience there.
(4)Debbie M.
Love love love Chipotle. Never a disappointment. Ingredients are always fresh. This location had some startup hiccups but they seem to have ironed out the kinks. Will continue to come back. Love the carnitas and chips and guacamole.
(4)Shannon F.
I like my Chipotle. Came here on a whim with my hun to grab something fast to eat while running some errands in Martinez. Nothing special about this location other than its convenient. It's located very close to the Home Depot and just next door to a Starbucks. The place appeared to be in decent condition minus a dirty table. They use gloves while making the food which is always a plus in my book. If I do go to Chipolte, I always get their burrito bowl. Which is what I got again this time. Grilled chicken, black beans ( no rice), guacamole and pico de guyo. My hun got a burrito with most of the fixens. The one thing I and others don't get about Chipotle is there use of white rice...don't get it but that's about it. Everything else seems to be fresh and usually flavorful. Service was also pleasant and friendly. Definitely won't one of my go-to places, though if I happen to be nearby it will work.
(4)Jennifer F.
Didn't have a good experience at all. I'm not sure why some customers get well made burrito bowls and others don't. I'm truly baffled.
(1)Jenn N.
I love that you can go to their website and customize your order with the nutrition calculator. It gives you a really good idea of the quality in the calories. I like that you can see what they are putting in the dish step by step, that way there are no surprises. I'm a veggie lover and the ingredients are always bright & fresh. I have been a few times since they opened. I usually go right before or after the regular 12:00 - 1:00 lunch hour and it works for me. The staff is always hustling and manage to keep their smile on. Extra props for the Chipotle Tabasco sauce at the silverware/drink bar. I always go overboard on that stuff (because I like it).
(4)Alicia G.
I love, love, love me some Chipotle. But my most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Came here with the hubs cause who doesn't love the cafeteria style Mexican food? Everything was going well until I noticed the guy operating the cash register (receipt had his name as Erick) goes into the back and grabs the container of black beans. With his BARE hands, he reaches in and grabs what looks like a bay leaf. He then adds old beans to new beans and puts it into its spot on the line. They need a serious lesson in safe food handling practices, yuck!! Two stars for tasty tacos.
(2)Hilary M.
Worst Chipotle I've ever been to. I've been here twice and both times the soda machine has been broken but no problem except they don't even carry BOTTLED WATER. Zero artificial flavoring drinks?!? Plus tables are filthy, boxes out from their last food shipment. Not coming here again and I'm a Chipotle loyal.
(1)Jan H.
food was gross it tastes like dog food
(1)Marcos B.
This Chipotle is the closest one to my house so I am here from time to time. There are at least 3 employees here that treat you like a guest and not as a customer which is a nice feeling, and there are a few girls here that could use some tape on their face to make them at least crack a smile. The portioning here is very fair, I haven't gone here once without them ever giving me something I did not feel was not up to par. It tastes just like all the other Chipotle's, and that's what I like about it. I did ask one of the employees their name because every time I do go, she is very kind to all customers. Starts with a D, think her name might be Denise, not sure, terrible memory. Anyway, she's the blonde girl. Thanks for making my visit pleasant and for being a good sport!
(4)Jennifer N.
Portions are inconsistent. I ordered 2 burrito bowls tonight and both were on the light side. The food in one bowl barely covered the bottom of the bowl, and that was after I asked for more rice. I don't think a single scoop of anything was more than 1/4 cup. The cheese serving was equivalent to about 1 tablespoon. Not a good value. I've ordered identical bowls before, made by the same person, and one was overloaded and the other was half the size. It makes no sense. The tables are usually dirty, and often there are not enough employees. Most often there are only 2 or 3 in the front. One or two to put the order together, and one to ring it up. If they run out of something, the wait can be very long. The parking lot is ridiculous. The employees at the Starbucks two doors down have said that there have been a few fender benders in the lot. I don't blame Chipotle for that, or even bad drivers. It's just a ridiculous lot to navigate if you are driving anything larger than a Smart Car. Two stars because the food is tasty, the location is convenient, and 1 out of 8 times they have their act together.
(2)Jami G.
I to the Chipotle in Martinez over the weekend and ended up in the emergency room that night with food poisoning. I know it is Chipotle as that is the only thing I had eaten all day.
(1)Emma E.
By far, the worst chipotle I've ever been to. There was only a few people in line and I waited for over 15 mins for someone to take my order. The lady that wrapped my burrito had to ask for someone for help and It still fell a part in a matter of seconds. I love chipotle and I'm not super picky but this place is awful. Along with the sucky food, the employees are rude and inconsiderate. Not coming back.
(1)Wayne B.
Standard Chipolte. No better or worse food quality. Workers don't seem as excited to be here as I've come to expect from Chipolte, but neither are they rude. Parking sucks so avoid rush hour.
(4)Anne R.
I am so glad there is a chipotle near where I live! I have ways been a big fan of this place because their burritos are awesome! This is located in a tiny shopping center next to Walmart. The center has a dollar tree, Verizon wireless , and Starbucks. Random set of stores but it works! Anyway, the place is ways clean , having walked into a chiptole and it's not clean. Lines are long during major times but they quickly down size. Sometimes they will get your wrong if they are rushing or it's too loud, so be on the look out for that! Over all nice little sitting area , nice indoor sitting area, very modern with usually nice music playing & of course yummy food! Can't really go wrong - check this place out !

I agree with earlier reviewers that it took them awhile to find their stride. However, they are moving much more efficiently now. Their employees are very cordial and accommodating. The five stars are for me witnessing a manager have a customers food on the house due to low balance on their debit card.

They of course give a tiny portion of meat. I ask for 2 tortillas on 1 burrito and don't do it. I ask for a double serving of meat and they give a tiny tea spoon more and charge like $3 more. I complain to the guy at the cash register and he doesn't acknowledge my complaint because of course no one there cares about customers. I would have gone to cinco de mayo down the street if they were still open later at night.

Worst burrito I've ever had !!!! Just awful ... rice, beans, and grisly chunks of fat steak, all cold, .... I wouldn't give this thing to my dog! And their Pico de Gallo tastes like they fished it out of dumpster in back of Taco Bell .... and so hot you can't taste anything else !!!! Whomever owns this franchise goes cheap on all the ingredients. Even the employees look scruffy and unkempt! Don't bother! The Chip in Pleasant Hill is lightyears better. Or you can do Baja Fresh much better menu and far better ingredients. This place is garbage!

Horrible! This Chipotle has the worst workers I seen. It took about 20 minutes to order a Bowl with only 2 people in line. The people in front of me were getting angry. Most of the staff was in the back chilling and the 2 that were in the front didn't want to work because "Why should they work if other workers are chilling in the back?" The girl barely put any chicken in my bowl (half scoop), I asked for double meat so she put another half scoop. So basically I had to pay double price for a regular scoop of chicken. On top of all this, They didn't close the lid of the bowl and guess what; all the hot sauce dripped out of the bowl and on my front seat. I have been a big Chipotle fan since I can remember. I have had Chipotle at least 400 times or more but by far this was the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant/fast food environment.

Does not seen like other chipotle' I have been too. Very small, food does not seem as fresh as I am used to at others around here. Staff is consistently not friendly and cleanliness is not a priority.

You took my money and I will never be back!!!! We ordered a quesadilla burrito and they charged us for the extra but did NOT give it too us. FUTHERMORE!! Which really irritates me! We ordered two bowls and they did not close the lids property. When we got home, it soaked threw the bag and the food ended up on the street because the bag broke. Also, now there is your crappy food stains all over the upholstery! Oh yeah, I also ordered lettuce in the bowls and from the looks of the food, there was not a shred of lettuce on the concrete. My husband asked if there was lettuce in it and the person lied and said yes. He was at the other end waiting for the guy to come back and could not watch the lady making it. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Thanks for ruining our dinner, my upholstery and my husband's pants.

Being a sales person, I am constantly stopping at various Chipotles and other food-on-the-go spots and yesterday I stopped by this Martinez Chipotle. There was no overwhelming line, it smelt clean and yummy, and I was immediately greeting with a fun, smiling staff. My burrito bowl was excellent!! Very generous portions! The staff was incredibly kind and management even stopped by to make sure I enjoyed my meal. I will certainly add this location as a regular stop on my sales route! Thank you Martinez Chipotle!
(5)Darren S.
Great Chipotle! I've been twice, they are very open to expanding the size of your burrito two fold. But you must be clever about it!
(5)Anthony B.
I wonder how long this place will be around with competition like Freebird? Chipotle doesn't have a salsa bar and doesn't even offer behind the glass salsa when you buy chips. Who wants chips with no salsa. The items you can add to a burrito are very limited. Quality of the food is fine, if not bland. Next time, it's Freebird in Pleasant Hill.
(2)Angela H.
Nice location. Still new. Very clean. They give a good amount of the toppings. I'm happy with it!
(3)San Francisco Bay Appraisal M.
Very convenient location. Small parking lot but glad its closer to home! The staff is friendly and I haven't been dissapointed yet! Maybe a few things that need to be worked out but I enjoy my food everytime!

This is absolutely, without question, the WORST "Chipotle", if we should even call it that! Luckily I love and enjoyed Chipotle (pleasant hill for example) to know better because if this was the first time having food from Chipotle I would think it's horrible! Food at this location taste flavorless, often overcooked.. and bluntly, just gross. Only came a few times and only because it is closer to home than PH location. Need serious help at this one! The whole management and crew needs TO GO! The staff just doesn't care, it's clear by the way the food tastes, always making mistakes and not paying attention. For anyone who wants to experience the real deal, go far away from this one and go to a real Chipotle PLEASE!!

I generally like Chipotle, but this one has problems. My biggest complaint is ice cold food. The toppings seem to be held in exceedingly cold containers, which is good for food safety, but with the skimpy portions of rice, meat, and beans on the burritos the cold toppings suck out all the warmth and the result is tepid if you're lucky and typically downright chilly. Honestly it's like eating a burrito that came straight out of the refrigerator. More than once I've found that both the Coke and Diet Coke fountains are broken which I didn't discover until I'd already paid for my meal and gone around the corner to the soda/napkin area. So what am I supposed to do, go back and get a refund? Several have mentioned the parking area. This shopping center was so poorly planned with the two most popular destinations, Starbucks and Chipotle, at the end with the least parking. Not only are there very few spaces but they are small and access is very cramped so even if you get a spot, getting in and out can be nerve wracking.

Had lunch here yesterday. Martinez residents were lucky enough to receive a 'Buy One/Get One' coupon in the mail. I liked the food and thought the service was good!
(4)Serra S.
Last night the manager told me it was a privledge for me to place my order over the phone. What an arse.
(1)Rebecca P.
We've been here about 6 times now. Everyone is right about the steak being tough, the dining area being dirty, and the over abundance of rice in the burritos. Last time I ate here, I wondered how long a random piece of chicken had been left sitting near the toppings since no one bothered to clean it up 7 customers later. Call it psychosomatic, but there was a rumble in the Bronx about 30 minutes after finishing my meal. The staff are nice but I think I'll stick with the PH location.
(3)P.H. Rez. T.
I'm in line as I type. I've been in line for ten minutes already with only 6 people in front of me. The staff is completely incompetent. They need to fix this franchise. This is by far the worse Chipotle I have been too. It takes forever to get through the line to order. Don't go here. ... Btw... Still in line with 3 more people to go. Horrible...
(1)Jason L.
Stay away from here, they make the worst burritos and salads. Tried twice here and failed again.
(1)Ryan O.
Worker wouldn't look or listen to me. Small portions high price rude Don't waist your time here just drive over to Downtown Pleasant Hill
(1)Huey C.
Dirty tables, incompetent staff, broken soda machines... stay away from this Chipotle.

This was my first visit to a Chipotle and my last to this one! I like their commitment to sustainability, organic and freshness. I ordered two items to go (late afternoon on a Sunday). The staff appeared bored and lackadaisical. They scooped a huge portion of rice onto my burrito (took up 1/2 the wrap), barely any steak (finely diced and very dry), the sour cream was very runny and they slopped it all over the wrap making a mess when I tried to eat it. As for the crispy chicken tacos, they are only crisp for a couple of minutes! They get wrapped in aluminum foil which makes them soggy by the time you try to eat one. The chicken was moist, (it probably hadn't been on the steam table as long). I'm willing to try Chipotle again, but not this location!

A consistent product every time. Glad to see they opened a new one in Martinez, a quick lunch that is healthy and tasty. Special thanks to Ryan and his team for a lunch well done.
(5)Sophie B.
I've been here three times since they opened. It's gotten better each time but still a long way from perfect chipotle. The first time I went, the rice was drenched in oil, my rice was yellow because if the oil. The Steak was so salty I ended up throwing most of it out. Then the employees were too busy flirting with each other to pay attention. My next visit the chipotle/steak was better but the rice was still drenched in oil- the service was the same. My last visit was better service and got the steak right, the rice was still too oily but not as much. I guess I can make a 4th and 5th trip to see if they've improved.

Stopped by for lunch today with a friend. New place for us both. The atmosphere is lacking color, very much about reading the menu and ordering clearly so as not to hold up the line. Staff very bored at their tasks. Making very little eye contact, the attendants (3) move you from what you want (bowl / burrito/ salad/ etc) to toppings to cashier. I asked the most bored looking one (toppings) how was he doing today and he was very surprised, answering with "fine" but not a smile from any of them. Bright spot was the bowl I got. It was enough for two meals and delicious. I'm one of those folks that enjoy exchanging even brief pleasant conversation with staff at restaurants that I patronize. Call me old fashioned. Staff and their management need a pep talk on customer relations or else make it a phone in your order kind of place where you just pick up at the window and drive away. I won't be going back to that Chipotle but I would try the one in Pleasant Hill for the sake of comparison.
(3)Amanda R.
Stick to the Pleasant Hill one for a few months while they figure stuff out. Since it is new, I recommend people wait a couple months before trying it out. I was really excited to see there was a Chipotle in Martinez. But the last two times I went the line was basically out the door. They should consider getting more staff. I went around 5pm wed 6/6 and they had one person at the cashier and one person making ALL the food. Didn't make much sense to me. Then when I got to the front of the line they told me they were out of chicken and I would have to wait 5 minutes. So I left because I was done waiting. Advice to Chipotle: since the restaurant is new and everyone wants to eat there so get more staff and prep more food.
(2)Dan M.
Been here a couple of times since they opened and everything was good. Solid 3 star. Tonight they were out of brown rice AND guacamole. Really? How is it you can be out of a couple of your main ingredients? Also the manager seemed to be too busy stocking boxes to care about answering the ringing phone and made an employee that was helping a customer answer it, even though the employee pointed out that he was in the middle of helping someone. Thumbs down tonight.

Love having a chipotle right by my house! So fast and convenient !
(5)Scott R.
I love Chipolte as a chain and I feel that restaurant represents the image of that Chipotle is trying to sell. The staff is great and the food is good. Most of the time the restaurant is clean. I have nothing bad to say about this place.
(5)Andre E.
I became a huge fan just recently, more now with a great app to place an order for pick up. Of course I found a way to make things difficult. In the app I have placed an order but mistakenly not put in the proper pick up time. So when I get there they are expecting me a half an hour from then and I just pop in. Not exposing me to my mistake, they were very apologetic and give me a free drink while I wait for my burrito. This has happened twice and both times I experienced great customer service that will keep me a loyal customer to the company but mostly to this location. My hats go off to Rosé on my first visit and Tatianna (I might of got that name wrong) and DJ. You are great, Keep up the great work!
(5)Amanda A.
Rose is so sweet and every time I do an online order I hope she is the one making my food. She is so respectful. You need to make her a manager.
(5)Carissa J.
The staff here isn't very well trained. I've been twice now and both times had a bad experience. The rice was way overcooked and mushy, I found part of the avocado rind in my guacamole and there were hard black beans in my burrito. Plus the staff didn't know how to fold my burrito and ripped the first one. I'm hoping they improve soon or I won't be coming back. (Also, parking is a nightmare!)
(1)Lisa G.
Come on Martinez Chipotle!!! I love all other Chipotle's but this new one does not even compare. Every time I have been to this location, they are rude and the workers seem to have other things to talk about in their personal life than wait on their customers. Very unprofessional, the food is not the same. Strongly suggest new employees and better care for this location to stay open!!!
(2)Mike E.
We've been there three times. The food is like any other Chipotle, the staff is nice, but there's serious problems with training and management. Store opens at 11AM and there's some food not ready for the steam table. Also, ice tea dispenser has not been filled. On another occasion the staff ran out of cups. Someone is not checking when things are going to be out before being replenished. So these are management issues that need to be addressed. Also feel the staff needs more training since on my lsast visit there seemed to be a lot of confusion on who was doing what. Hope it gets better, because Martinez deserves better.
(2)Dangja M.
Love that the Chipotle is down the street, butttttt they're very greedy with the portions. Other than that its like any other Chipotle and the parking sometimes sucks.
(2)abby d.
I usually don't review chain places like Chipotle. However, this location deserves a review. I have eaten at this location several times. I always get a salad with carnitas and black beans. They are so stingy with the carnitas, beans, and lettuce, but they drown it in cheese, sour cream, salsa, and sour cream. I always go at lunch. It takes forever even they are never that busy. Each time I have been, it seems like there are fewer and fewer people. They were nearly out of cups, napkins, etc. and the tables were dirty. The staff are really, really, nice, but on it.
(2)Dee S.
Love Chipotle and Love that they are so close to home and finally... I can have great tacos anytime! (Our family really misses Chavindas tacos!) Think they are working out the kinks on portion size and just being a new business. Went the first week they opened and tacos were a bit skimpy for regular Chipotle style.... second trip was more to regular standards and third trip today had a bursting the seams chicken burrito! Hubby had overflowing steak tacos and they were fantastic! Will definitely become a regular stop for the family! Happy to have Chipotle in Martinez!
(4)Stephanie B.
Just tried the new Chipotle in Martinez and was impressed! I had read reviews and was worried about service, quality and quantity. It must have been kinks in the start up because I found nothing to complain about.
(5)Kween B.
I love Chipotle, it's my guilty pleasure. BUT I went tonight, pretty excited that it's close to home and I wasn't pleased. The line was crazy long and I expected that, they were quite efficient, which was great, but they served like 60% of the food I normally get an expect at a Chipotle. That is to say the bowl and the burrito contained about 40% less food than I am used to. I got food for my family so they made me several things, nothing crazy, very standard orders, but I was quite disappointed. I won't be going back to the Martinez Chipotle until it gets its kinks worked out. I'll stick to Pleasant HIll.
(1)Diana K.
Wish I could review no stars for this location!!! Every time I make an online order, my order has been wrong. Also when I come in to pick up my order I'm treated like I'm an inconvenience. My most recent experience I created another online order while I was at work on 12/17 to be picked up at 715, when I reached the location to pick up my order the store was locked and there was a sign that they were closed!!! I called the store and a young man told me to go to another location! I immediately told him to put a manager on the phone and was finally told that they did have my order and they were closed due to a "Christmas party" but he still gave me my order. I get home and my order was wrong again! I was fed up, I called the store and complained and this time I talked to Erika who is also a manager and told her what happened and she told me to come in the next day so she can give me a refund. I go to get a refund, she is not there and I had to argue with the working manager because he says I need a receipt when I didn't receive a receipt because they were closed!!! Ugh!!! So I show him the email receipt and that basically convinces him to give me the refund especially after talking to Erika. I will NEVER come back to this location again. By the way when I do actually order from the store they are never stocked with proper ingredients. I'm done!

First off the problem with this Chipotle is they have children running it. High school girls that were sitting there gossiping in front of my husband and I. We look young but we are in our late 20's, my husband a SGT in the Marine Corps thought it was a joke. They literally were just talking to each other and not even paying attention to us. My husband had to repeatedly tell them to put more in our burritos, and my black beans were hard, so was the brown rice. Nothing blended together, i would have a bite of just beans, then just chicken, then the bottom had JUST cheese. it was gross. I wont go back, sticking to pleasant hill.
(1)Varadan V.
I am a die hard Chipotle fan. Excited to see chipotle near my house at Martinez, I went there. The staff there seems to be in "Save the food" mode. Everything is served in very small quantities. You ahve to explicitly ask over to increase the quantity from a very small portion to the normal Chipotle portion. Then they stare at you as if you did something wrong by asking for just "regular chipotle quantity". I will go back to my favorite Pleasant Hill Chipotle - staff is way more nice and professional, and they serve right quantities WITHOUT ASKING.
