Was just thinking about how I wish there was a Veggie Grill in Detroit, and realized I never left a review! This place is food heaven for vegetarians, everything I have missed since becoming one is here (in a vegetarian/vegan form). WHAT A DELIGHT! Had the buffalo wings as an appetizer and it was so good! For my main entree I got the veg cheeseburger and it was *wolf whistle* DELICIOUS! My mouth is watering as I write about it. Wish I could've tried more things on the menu. I will definitely be back every single time I go to LA!

Used to loooove coming here after work! This veggie grill has the BEST cashiers and service of all the veggie grills. Plenty of options, some are better than others. Get a punch card and sign up for their app!

I went back to The Veggie Grill after a customer service representative reached out to me about my previous experience. My experience with her and my dinner experience in the store tonight have renewed my faith in Veggie Grill! As I said before I love their food and am happy that such delicious healthy options abound. I will continue to enjoy their delicious lemonade, Buffalo chicken and all the creative salads! Thank you to the customer service rep who went out of her way to make sure my off experience didn't ruin my relationship with Veggie Grill!!

Excellent food and service. The food is fantastic, with even my meat-eating husband enjoying this. We ordered the very flavorful Bombay Bowl and Santa Fe Sandwich, both of which are very tasty. The service was also great, friendly, helpful, and extremely fast, (it took less than 5 minutes to get our food).

All hail kale is the best salad ever!!! I downloaded the Veggie Grill app, it gives points every time a receipt is scanned. I went to buy an All hail kale salad and I had a coupon for a free appetizer so I got the crispy cauliflower. I am not a fan of this vegetable but it was fried and I needed to balance the freshness of the salad. The crispy cauliflower is so good, they serve it along a sweet & sour sauce. I gave some to my co-workers and they loved it as well. I've been wanting to try the quinoa burger but the all hail has my heart for now. I'll be back next payday.

Veggie heaven! Don't know why it took me so long to come here, but my meal today hit the spot! Yukon gold fries- get them! Perfectly seasoned. The half order (only $1.75 and not on the menu) will be more than sufficient for one or two people to share! Strawberry lemonade is top notch. I think I got three refills. Banh Mi Salad was a delight! Girl at the counter was super positive and nice. I shall be back again and again.

Wonderful, as usual. Love their service, the santa fe burger (my normal go-to dish), and the shopping center it's located in - The Grove's Farmer's Market! Always park in the Farmer's Market - that way, you get validation for complimentary parking. It's a good place to go if you want glutton, the healthy kind. Although, to me, the taste does not differ from that of actual meat, and meat lovers of all kinds have been amazed that, "it's not meat!" Solid food, clean establishment, and great location - what more could you want? Stop by and try it out!

I took my daughter to the Veggie Grill at the Farmer's Market. There's a main Farmer's Market parking lot, but park at the first parking lot where the Veggie Grill is, which is less crowded. Veggie Grill validates for 2 hours. The service we received was very friendly and helpful. We downloaded the Veggie Grill app, so we got an appetizer for free! We got: Buffalo Wings - this was delicious. The Buffalo sauce makes it! Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' Sandwich - this was our favorite! VG Cheeseburger - this was good. Next time, I will get it El Dorado style - with jalapenos and carmelized onions, and ask to add avocado! The french fries are fresh; crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. We plan on coming back next week!

This is the fifth or sixth Veggie Grill location that I have been to. All locations have been pretty consistent, with some slightly better than the others. This location by LA Farmer's Market delivered with the same goodness I have known to expect from the VG franchise. I stopped by for lunch one weekday and ordered the pick-a-pair meal, something I had wanted to try for a while but never got around to it. I opted for the Black Beans + Quinoa Mini-Bowl for pick 1, and the Savory Kale Caesar for pick 2. I also ordered the Crispy Portobellos appetizer. When the appetizer came out, I was disappointed to see such a small and meager looking dish. I had ordered the portobellos at the Westlake Village location and those were much better quality--more pieces, larger sizes, and deliciously crispy. These ones were small, shriveled, and not crispy at all. Sadness. When my meal arrived I was surprised to see that I was given the All Hail Kale salad rather than the Savory Kale Caesar that I had ordered. I was disappointed as I had ordered the Savory Caesar because I was craving the tempeh bacon that it comes with. I did not complain because I was extremely hungry and did not want to wait for them to remake it, so I just ate it. It was very tasty, but still I was a bit sad I did not get my tempeh bacon. The quinoa and black bean bowl was very tasty as well and I really enjoyed the tomato sauce on top of it! Even though there were a couple of little things I would nitpick about my experience at this location, I'm still a fan because I gotta support the vegan cause! Overall I have been very happy with all my VG experiences. I love the flavorful, healthy and interesting dishes they have to offer. :D

I used to love Veggie Grill. I would go giddy for their peach iced green tea. Sadly, that was missing from my recent trip. No mind, luckily they have other great flavors that can be combined for an equally refreshing beverage...that's limited since their fountain drinks are ever flowing. My last visit was a little bit of a downer. First off, it's ridiculously chilly in there. Freezing, to be exact, and while a welcome temp change from the heat outside at first, it gets extremely uncomfortable if you choose to dine inside. I had a sweater in the car that allowed me to rally but I assume most won't have extra layers on hand, especially in the dead of summer. So, if you do plan to eat there, bring your finest parka and you'll be fine. The food options are still intriguing, particularly the fried cauliflower app! I fell for the seasonal harvest salad with grilled peaches. The dish that graced my table, however, was a feeble attempt to replicate the beauty of the pic that enticed me originally. The salad I was faced with was a C+ version of what I anticipated; like the kid who has a lot of potential but no ambition. The taste was fine, but I left with my head down in disappointment since I was hoping for a crisp, gorgeous leafy lunch.

So many creative vegetarian options! This is a vegetarian's dream! I love it! They have really good soups too! I love the Santa Fe crispy chicken sandwich, the buffalo wrap, orange cauliflower, and all of their salads. You can't really go wrong with anything you choose.

This location is open until 11 which is a little later than other locations. The service is great as all the staff are attentive. I've had food cooked inconsistently at other locations. None at this one.

I've found it. The holy land! This place feeds me at least twice a week (gotta rack up that veggie grill app love). I highly recommend the mondo nachos and the fish tacos. Too yummy. Its satisfying and tasty. If you have meat eating compadres who like to gag at the thought of vegan food, bring em here! The service is always lovely and quick. Hands down, favorite place to grab a bite.

I ADORE THIS PLACE!! Who can refuse delicious healthy food at an affordable price? The dishes they serve actually don't have any real meat in them since they use a substitute but you can hardly tell. I ordered the Bombay bowl which had veggies, grains, beans, and kale topped with some yummy coconut based curry sauce. Decent sized and filling. I love the fact that it came with so many veggies and lots of kale, my fave! Also tired the buffalo wings and judging the food based on taste and texture, it was hard for me to tell that the meat wasn't real. Clean, modern looking building with friendly staff. Order at the front and they bring your food to your table. Also conveniently located near The Grove so you can get your shopping done. Will be returning! :D

I'd actually say it's a 3.5. It's decent food that keeps my vegan gf full & happy. A cranky vegan is no fun to be around.... 1. The VG burger- it may be blasphemous to some bc it's faux beef but I like it bc it reminds me a little of AM/PM burgers but without the guilt of knowing it's not crazy processed and bad for me. This is my favorite dish here. Get it El Dorado style (pickled jalapeños & caramelized onions), you won't regret it! 2. Cauliflower mash is pretty awesome 3. Mac n cheese is not great 4. Yukon gold fries are good, Sweet potato fries are better 5. The fried tofu bahn mi is missing something. The batter and fry on the tofu is good but overall it's a dry sandwich that leaves you hungry and tired from chewing. 6. "THE BUFFALO WINGS"- amazing!!! I'm a carnivore and I adore these faux chicken strips!!! The buffalo sauce tastes great and the "blue cheese" tastes close to the real deal. This is a must. 7. The carrot cake is really good. And not just for being vegan, it's better than many dairy/egg infiltrated carrot cakes.

Couldn't have asked for better service! It was my first time here and I decided to go with the Santa Fe Crispy Chikin' with a side of fries. It was so delicious, I couldn't believe it was vegan lol will definitely come back because everyone was so nice/courteous and they even brought my dog a little bowl of water!

I always love myself some Veggie Grill. This is my favorite vegetarian spot to dine at by far. Staff if always helpful and friendly, clean space, and the food is to die for. The Santa Fe Crispy Chick'n with Yukon fries is my go to item to order. Their strawberry lemonade is good as well. Veggie Grill has other locations in Los Angeles and Orange County. I like knowing that no matter where I am I can expect the same high quality at each location. I often make the joke that I love Veggie Grill more than my own mother.

i am a big fan. it's cheap, it's yummy, and it makes you feel like you're eating healthy. they have plenty of stuff that is unhealthy, and tastes delicious. fried food is fried food, my friends. the sweet potato fries are sooo good. with the app you earn points, so frequent eaters are rewarded. great for a quick weekday dinner when you're too lazy to cook (which sadly for me is all the time). the grove parking lot in front of the restaurant gives you free parking with validation.

I got to try Veggie Grill on a recent trip to LA. I was excited to have another fast casual vegan place to compare to my beloved Native Foods Cafe. I'm happy to say that Veggie Grill did not disappoint- in fact, we ate there twice (and attempted a third trip but could not make it before they closed. BOOO)! Over the course of two trips, I got to try a BLTA sandwich, Sonoran Winter Bowl, nacho appetizer and "wings" appetizer. The BLTA had amazing flavor and reminded me of a (very non-vegan) sandwich I used to get at a restaurant in Schaumburg, IL that has long since closed. The bowl was an amazing variety of flavors and textures- the roasted carrots were amazing. The nachos were fantastic in a vegan junk food kind of way and the "chicken" had a fantastic flavor and texture- different from Native Foods but very good nonetheless. OH and I tried my husband's fish tacos and it blew my mind and kind of freaked me out because the taste and texture was so fish-like. I would love to have a Veggie Grill in Chicago! Imagine... Veggie Grill for Lunch, Native Foods for dinner. Or vice versa!

Another excellent Veggie Grill location! Super clean, right at the Farmers Market so your best bet is to park there and get it validated at Veggie Grill for 2 hours free. Nice staff, great menu that even carnivores will enjoy. I like pretty much everything on their menu, their "chicken" would be my least favorite though, I usually go with the fried cauliflower with the sweet and sour sauce I can just not get enough of. Prices are fair, so are portion sizes.

I've been ordering delivery from Veggie Grill quite often recently, because their delivery fee is only $1 (at least where I live), they are usually very quick, and their food is delicious and full of nutrients. I have tried: - Santa Fe chikn sandwich (yummy, popular for a reason; blackened chicken is just as good) - Crispy cauliflower (tastes kind of like orange chicken, but way better for you) - Buffalo wings (addicting..in terms of flavor and texture, very similar to the real thing, but far less guilt-inducing, oh and their vegan ranch sauce is amazing) - All hail kale salad (as good as they say; i started eating kale because of veggie grill) - Carrot cake (the best damn carrot cake i've ever had...frosting is the perfect amount of sweet) - Baja fish tacos (not bad...very healthy tasting; nice attempt at replicating fish, but i prefer the real thing) - Mac and cheese (blech...tastes like cardboard...i couldn't take more than one bite) The only thing I ever disliked from Veggie Grill was their mac and cheese...but other than that, I would recommend everything. Veggie Grill makes me believe I can become a vegan, but then I remember krn bbq...

This place was considered one of my vegetarian friend's favorite spot, so I had to give it a shot. Now I understand. I'm a meat lover, but I always need a considerable serving of veggies regularly, so I can definitely be a regular at one of the locations around LA. Not only is it tasty and delicious, but so affordable! I ordered the Half salad + Half side combination all for $7. For my salad, I ordered the All Hail Kale salad and it was delicious! I loved the dressing and the salad itself had plenty of flavor. I don't really eat kale unless it's juiced, but I'll gladly order it again here. I just had to order the sweet potato fries, because it was on every review I read about this place. The sweet potato fries were delish! I don't remember what the sauce was called or what was in it, but it was fantastic. Parking:Farmer's market lot. 2 hours free with validation.

My updated review is based on the customer service I received today. Amy, was the cashier who took my lunch order. She is usually very nice and accommodating but today she must have gotten very annoyed when I placed my to go order and then asked if I can add chick'in to it. SAD! Also, a note to the management. No matter what time you come in, for to go orders whether there are tons of customer's waiting to pick up or you're the only one, the wait is absolutely ridiculous. There is no excuse to wait 20-30 minutes for your to go order and another 10 minutes when you ask for a side of dressing. There is a communication issue between kitchen staff and servers. I'm an employee of The Grove and it's so sad to see this type of service from and establishment that is like family!

Great food, great service! I love coming here for their Santa Fe Chikn sandwich. The crispy chikn patty gives the sandwich a nice texture and goes well with a side of fries. I think the sauce is what gives the sandwich it's distinct and delicious flavor. It's always super yummy and satisfying! This time around, I decided bread was too much to have, so I ordered the sandwich "kale style". It basically converted the sandwich into a salad with a side of fries with sauces on the side. This turned out perfect for me as I was able to eat the meal with fork & knife and didn't have to get my hands dirty! Haha. It's the perfect option for whenever you're craving the sandwich but don't want the heaviness of a burger or sandwich. Definitely recommend trying this option for any of their sandwiches/burgers! Service has always been great here. Food comes out quick whether you're dining in or to go. Servers are always nice & helpful with any questions you may have. You can also order online or ahead of time for pick up, convenient!

I love this place. Great food, fresh BUT today was a different story. I actually found hair in my food. Now normally, you find hair in your food, you take it back and they say sorry or give you something in return. I returned the food and they did nothing. They took it back and didn't do anything or say anything. He took it back and said, "Oh" and walked away. I know this was a fluke but come on. Try to be more about the customer. I even stayed for another 10 minutes to see if the person I gave my food to would tell anyone or do anything. And Nothing. Oh well. Even if they offered me new food at that point I'm kinda grossed out especially since it looked like it was a hair not from anyplace public.

Food quality still good. Place is filthy, floors, several unbussed tables, no clean forks out. Bathrooms were disgusting. Looks like management has changed for the worst.

Ugh. It really pains me to write a bad review, especially about a vegetarian restaurant, especially about a location that's part of a local chain that I regularly patronize. I will say, however, based on my Mother's Day experience here, that I will NEVER patronize this particular Veggie Grill location again. EVER. Why do I feel so strongly about this? I took a good friend and her mother here for Mother's Day this past Saturday. My friend wanted to become vegetarian and this dinner was partially to reassure her Mom that it was going to be a safe choice. Had I know that we would receive such s-l-o-w, completely malaise and lackluster service, in addition to stone-cold undercooked food, I would have NEVER brought them here. 1) This location was COMPLETELY UNPREPARED for Mother's Day traffic - I mean COME THE F*CK ON, only ONE register ringing people up on friggin' MOTHER'S DAY? Someone failed big time on planning and logistics there - the line went out the door and many people got frustrated and left after waiting for 30+ mins. Had they not had their Mother's Day promotion (where Mom's entree is free on Mother's Day), I'm sure more people would have up and left - including us. I mean, even stupid In-N-Out has people who take your orders in line when the line gets out of control. GET YO SH*T TOGETHER, Veggie Grill. 2) When it was our turn to finally order, the person behind the register kept getting the order wrong. It seemed like she was new to the job and didn't even know the menu - you know it's bad when the customer needs to explain to the server what the menu item is. After painstakingly entering and correcting and re-correcting our order for 5 minutes, we finally sat down. Good job Veggie Grill @ the Grove, for putting a ROOKIE behind the register - way to make a good FIRST impression to anyone entering your restaurant. Yes, we were frustrated with her, but ultimately I blame management for that piss-poor decision. 3) Veggie Grill is largely a self-service restaurant. I don't have a problem with getting my own utensils - unless there are no utensils. How DA F*CK do you run out of FORKS on Mother's Day? Don't be giving people plastic forks when they dine in and then expect them to come back with the prices you charge. 4) ...especially when they can't even stab through their veggies with those plastic forks because they're not cooked through. Yep, to add insult to injury, the food was also horrendously executed. I mean, having been a Veggie Grill patron at their other locations for years, I thought the food would be the ONE thing I could count on to be good, especially for my guests. Nope, my friend's Mom had to send her roasted veggie bowl back because uh, the veggies didn't even look like they were peeled properly much less cooked in the least bit (you CANNOT serve people raw parsnips!!!! JEEEZZZZ) and my crispy chick'n plate, which has been consistently good at all the other Veggie Grill locations, not only had chick'n that was still icy in the middle, greasy with the breading falling off on the outside (a sure sign of the oil not being hot enough when cooking), but an equally greasy and lumpy gravy served with it (a sure sign that the sauce broke because they rushed through mixing it). I too would have sent my plate back if I wasn't afraid of going over my validation time in the parking lot - hell no was I going to pay for parking in addition to already paying for this shockingly disappointing experience!!! Veggie Grill executive board, you need to either shut this location down and start over OR fire your entire staff here and bring in people who actually know what the f*ck they're doing. I admit that I knew there were consistency issues with the food here from my previous visits but it was NEVER nearly as bad as what my friend, her mother and myself experienced on Mother's Day, of all days. I highly suggest recruiting one of your managers from the Sunset Blvd location in West Hollywood, where I will continue to dine at regularly because of the quality food and service I have come to know at Veggie Grill. Your location at the Grove, however, owes myself, my friend, her mother and every other diner you disappointed and weren't even sorry about on Mother's Day - a heartfelt apology.

Why do vegetarians try to imitate meat dishes? That ain't meat, no matter what the menu says. Don't be fooled by the vegetarian buffalo wings or fish sticks. Beware of the guy with the license plate, I "heart" tofu. That can also be read as, I "heart" to f u. Somewhere, thousands of plants are crying out because vegetarians are yanking then out of the ground. Fret not. It's all for a delicious cause. The food is filling and tasty. You're going to be full and satisfied. Omnivores are welcomed (carnivores too, but I don't know of anyone who is a pure carnivore) and they're going to try to make you believe that you are eating meat, but we all know better. If we weren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made of steak?

I love this place sooo much and it pains me to give this location only four stars, especially since i eat here almost every day! The food is great, nice staff, but they need to pay a little more attention to to go orders. So far they forgot our fries 3 times but i didnt say anything because these things happen. I got a cheeseburger with no cheese lol but they were cool and gave me a gift card for the problem. This last order we got the lids of our soups were not on and they were completely spilled in the bag along with soupy nachos :( Constructive criticism. I think you guys are great, but please put tape on the soup orders, and also double check orders. other than that the staff does a great job and are super nice ! :D

This is another vegan place I like along with Native Foods. I bring that one up because they're both similar: vegan fast food. And they're both good, but this one is definitely more fast food and fried while Native Foods is healthier and more balanced. I really like the Bali Bliss. It's a tempeh burger and it's really good with the portabella mushroom. (This is the only place where I like tempeh.) The chili is good, the sweet potato fries are good. The buffalo wings appetizer is really good. I can't say I like their standard beef substitute burger that most people get. And I'm not that into their salads, like my girlfriend is. The dressings are very sweet. I would say stick to the tempeh or any of the chicken dishes. The chocolate pudding is really good, also. I'm a huge critic of vegan desserts...they're usually way too dry...but this one is good. The service is friendly but very slow. It doesn't seem like they really have their process ironed out very well. My girlfriend had to stand and wait for them to cut a slice of cake and put it in a to-go container. That shouldn't be necessary. I've had to wait for my meal long enough that other people have gotten theirs and finished. I guess I sound pretty critical, but these are issues that can be fixed. If they don't care about wait times, and if they want to be the greasy alternative, the McDonald's of vegan food, then I guess they'll just stay okay in the long run instead of getting a higher rating from me. Oh, and I almost forgot...I'm not vegan. But I'm open to eating vegan food if it tastes good. It seems like a lot of non-vegans eat here, also.

I nub you Veggie Grill. You make my tummy smile, if a tummy could smile. You make my face smile, too, because the service is so friendly and sweet (and this particular location has a lil eye candy too if ya know what I mean). The food is tasty and (mostly) healthy. I dunno what you put in the ranch sauce you serve with the yummy sweet tater fries, but it's bonkers. Yes, I said BONKERS. The food is affordable, the portions are generous (try the Chop Chop salad, it's huge). It's clean, warm, inviting, casual but befitting of a nice dining experience.

I've been to both locations, and both times I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I ordered the Portobello Mushroom Wrap, with a side of mac and cheese the first time I went, and I loved it. Although since then, I've had better vegan mac and cheese, VG's was still not bad. The wrap was great though with tons of flavour, and packed full. I like how they have the option of getting all of their menu on either a wrap or a bun as well. My friend ordered the Crispy Chick'n Burger, which was extremely good.. actually so convincing that I had to actually convince her it WASN'T chicken. The second time I went, I ordered the Tempeh Wrap, with a side of steamed kale. I loved the wrap, don't get me wrong, but I saw the salad entree someone else ordered, and wished I had ordered that actually. The salads are huge, and a great deal. Awesome food for the price, and I love how it's changing how people think of fast food. VG was actually recommended to me by a NON-VEGAN who loves it. Hearing something like that makes me extremely pleased. Awesome people who work there, and the newest location is conveniently right by the Grove.

I am SO excited that this location of Veggie Grill has opened! I love this place and now it is even closer to me. Again, next location needs to be downtown LA. The fiancee and I stopped in last weekend while we were shopping at The Farmers Market. Had the Crispy Chickin (as usual) and the Sweetheart Fries (sweet potato, served with the liquid crack - their spicy vegan mayo). Todd had the American Stack (?? I think that's the name) - which is strips of tempeh or something marinated and grilled and then made up like a juicy burger. Besides being SUPER messy (watch out!), it too was delicious. Very friendly service and nice, new location. Yay!

This is my favorite casual vegan restaurant. I eat here at least once a week and have tried many items on the menu. My favorites are the bayou chicken sandwich, the lentil and tortilla soups and the all-hail kale salad. The staff are great and will approach customers staring at the wall menu to ask if they need any suggestions. The service and food are consistently great! My wish is for Veggie Grill to become a BIG chain like McDonalds and start opening locations with drive thru windows.

This is my first visit to a Veggie Grill. The beauty of this place is that the food is familiar looking and tasting. You can get your junk food grub on without totally clogging your arteries. I had the All-American Stack with sweet potato fries. Usually, I cannot stand sweet potato fries, but Veggie Grill seasons them so well, that they were actually quite delicious. The All-American Stack is delicious, but a little messy and you won't miss the meat. I'm a little put off by the corporate niceness of the staff, but that's a minor quibble.

First and second time that I have ate at this place...I am just simply amazed! Being a vegetarian I actually started questioning that it might be REAL meat! =0 that's how meaty it tasted. But nope..still imitation meat. I got the chicken burger and the chicken strips..GOOD & GOOD The place is definitely a lot better than what the name suggests.

I'm vegan!" so i gotta hold my tail if i wanna get some tail, know what i mean brothas? so we go there, and i never liked that whole grove thing, but we go and i get the santa fe sandwich, and man, i could not tell it was not real chicken, it was off the chain like django. and the service was right on. if you a brotha in a similar predicament, and your girl go all white an vegan on you, don't despair, go to veggie grill and try the sante fe. peace out!

As a vegetarian it's hard to find a decent restaurant that serves well prepared vegetarian dishes. I was pleasantly surprised that this place not only had a solid menu, all they dishes were well seasoned and tasted amazing. My only disappointed was the price range is a little too high to entice me to come more frequently.

Love this place! We are vegetarians, but I think anyone would love the food here. Health comfort food. From fresh and healthy salads to super delicious sweet potato fries and "buffalo wings," this place rocks! And EVERY time we've been to Veggie Grill, the people who work there have been SUPER helpful and friendly. Seriously nicer than the average quick food place. Clearly explaining items on the menu and just being basically nice. With so many healthy eating options in L.A., it really sets them apart.

This is by far one of the best vegan places I go to. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, but this place is amazing. Their new menu is awesome. I usually order the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken with no tomato, but I saw their new menu had the Buffalo Bomber which is similar to the Santa Fe without the avocado and with ranch dressing instead and obviously, buffalo sauce. It's sooooo good! I love the sweetheart fries, too.

Well, been trying to eat better y'all. For real. I'm a carnivore from birth. But, every now and then I want to eat a meal and not feel like I ate a horse right after. I want my stomach to be happy. So, I've been trying to eat vegan as much as a can. Like most people, I'm scared of eating high priced food that tastes like I'm eating cardboard. Veggie Grill doesn't disappoint. It's good, tastes meaty, seasoned, and just plain delicious. I always get the fried chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. YUM! That sauce they use is outstanding. The "chicken" is crispy. The fries. Sweet and seasoned. Everything is just good. I can't speak on the rest of the menu. But, I can say it's worth trying.

I can't say enough good things about the Veggie Grill. I live 20 minutes away and drive here as often as I can to feast in as much as I can. All the sandwiches, the b chop salad, 'chicken' wings, mac n cheese, kale, etc, all SO SO good. I've had a plentiful amount of vegan food in LA and Veggie Grill keeps it simple with the menu, complex with flavors and never ever disappoints. If I could give 10 stars I would!!

This place is absolutely delicious and a lot more appealing than Freshi's next door. I got the all-american stack with chipotle mayo and demolished it in less than 10 minutes. The fresh ingredients and saucy meat-substitute and ONION RINGS make this the most crave-able veggie burger I've ever had. The sweet potato fries and chili were also good, nothing too exciting though. For about $10 a dish, this is an excellent option for a hearty and healthy meal without excessive menu choices. I saw a redheaded toddler with thick black framed glasses, eating veggie chicken strips; I've never been so jealous of a hipster baby in my life. This place is awesome.

I've been here a few times now and I am a full on fan. However, I am convinced that some of the stuff on the menu is just as bad for you as eating their non vegetarian counterparts. That being said, you can choose to indulge or eat healthy here. I have always indulged. The All American Stack is my go to and it is unreal. You totally forget that you are eating fake meat. It is really filling and comes with a side of either cole slaw or bean chili. And unlike other vegetarian food, I haven't been hungry 30 minutes after eating Veggie Grill. Two hour parking is free with validation.

One word.... AMAZING!!!! It was love at first sight... I have been there 3 times and have loved everything I've ordered. The service is great! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.. actually already have and they all loved it as well! :) If you haven't tried it, do so... NOW!

they make their own veggie "meats"! this place is so super yummy. a day after a long hike in PV, head down to the Veggie Grill, got a "burger" with a cold ginger ale -- yummmmmm.... clean, fast and affordable. People should be giving their kids this stuff instead of Mickey D's!

Veggie Grill is so so good. I wish there was one even closer to me. After watching Forks Over Knives, I'm really into exploring all the vegetarian food places. Gives me hope that I can maybe...one day.... get into this world of eating healthy and plant based foods. everything I have had here is delicious.

It's veggie, it's affordable, it's clean, and most of all - the food is delicious. Staff is all super nice, too. I'm definitely going to be a regular here!

  • Kimberly Y.

The staff is really nice, and the food is absolutely amazing. I love their burgers, sweet potato fries, and chicken soup. The chicken nuggets taste just like the real kind, well, like how I remember actual chicken to taste like at least. My friend's meat-eating mom had to ask me if I was sure they weren't the real deal. If anything, I like going to The Veggie Grill because I know my money's going to a restaurant that helps people realize that a vegetarian lifestyle doesn't mean having to give up good food.

who knew eating vegan was this good?!? i tried (in the order of my favorite to least): -kale salad: DELISH. i added tempeh which is grilled soybeans/rice cube thingies (extra 2.50) but you don't need it - carne asada wrap: it was better than the burger because the size of "fake meat" was small and the "fake meat" texture wasn't as prevalent - chipotle bbq burger: it was good, but i am not a huge fan of drenched bbq sauce friendly staff and a plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this is a great lunch option for those who are by the farmer's market, near the grove, right next to "chipotle" - my other fav chain.

Delicious and guilt free. What more can one ask for! Even meat eating friends are impressed. Veggie Grill, I hope you'll take over the world one day because I can really eat here every day.

  • david b.

I had a $15 kale salad with an embarrassingly flawed version of tempeh lacking of taste, structure, toothsomeness, and flavor. The kale salad itself was tasty, but the tempeh was a joke. My wife's "chikn'" salad, which contained what I believe was seitan instead of chicken was a comical and bland interpretation of seitan. This place lacks vegan panache by a mile. First, you purchase a decent salad with none of these crummy meat substitutes for $9, then you add a crummy meat substitute, and before you know it, you have a $15 over-dressed salad with a crummy meat substitute. For a better vegan meal right down the road, try the Vegan Glory lunch special.

We love the Veggie Grill. I almost always get the burger or cheese burger. My only complaint is that they don't have potato fries, only sweet potato. The chicken fingers are delicious, and the Santa Fe Chiken Sandwich is great as well. It's one of our standbys!

  • Rick A.

First off I'm not vegan, not that Theres anything wrong with that! My love for meat could only be match by that of at T-Rex, however, this place is yummy. I ordered the Carne asada sandwich with a side if chili. I enjoyed the chipotle mayo which made the sandwich more flavorful. All in all if I could eat like this everyday I would consider being a vegan . prices are good and the ambiance is good as well.

Every Saturday I come here after exercising to eat the all hail kale salad with blackened tempeh. It is so incredibly delicious and healthy. Leaves you feeling great. My girlfriend never liked kale and she's as hooked on this salad as I am now. I've also had the chili and the quinoa pilaf and they are good, too. This place gets an A plus from "the kid" (I'm referring to myself when I say "the kid". Feel free to call me this).

That's me. A VGG. Not to be confused with (Va-JJ). Which is why they were my top choice to feed a hardworking crew in celebration of this past season's of The Hollywood Hunter . First off, I didn't even know that VG offered catering, and not just that. Veggie Grill actually lets you veg out when it comes to the planning and preparation of your feeding needs. Complete with utensils, tongs, plates, and even great, appealing serving trays, all you seriously need to do is invite the hungry guests! Here are some of the faves we had: All Hale Kale salad: This is it people. This is all you need to have to put your body into full fledge happy mode. I can't get over how they massage the kale into this sweet, savory dressing blend with pops of quinoa, then add the perfect amount of chopped marinated tomatoes, zesty herbs, hearty agave nectar caramelized walnuts, and beautiful, sweet carrot strings atop. I can actually say hands down, this is one of the best salad in Los Angeles. Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich: These were good, because of the moist, flavorful soy chicken. Vegetarian or not, all liked. The bun is really soft and wholesome tasting, not at all in a healthy diet way, and the mayo/ relish sauce gives the sandwich just enough of the New Mexican kick. Carrot Cake: Omg, this cake is super soft and light, but the spice factor and chopped carrots actually come together very rich, without being filling. The best part is the frosting. Again, whipped and light, and how I LOVE that the frosting doesn't harden like the others! And would't you know so does VG with their policy to reward returned serving trays with one of their homebaked delicious cookies. I heart green grub! So there you have it. When's the last time you ate healthy with a homecooked feel? Do yourself a favor- eat there, tweet em, and say the VGG sent ya.

Ok so I love the environment of this place very friendly down to earth style it's not expensive and worth it the American stack wrap was simple mouth watering I couldn't stop lol and if I knew this place existed when I was vegetarian I wouldn't have quit it's that good :) hope my review helps I'm new to this :p

I went here on my own since my apartment kitchen in LA was all packed up for the move. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the decor and set-up reminded me a bit of Baja Fresh. The cashier was quick to point out deals and menu items that I might want to try on my first visit. I built my own veggie burger, which was tasty and definitely not frozen first and some sweet potato fries. The price was a small amount of sticker shock for this denizen of the desert but reasonable for the West LA market. I would good back and take some of my flexitarian friends here as well.

This location was quieter than some of the other locations I've been too, but it might have been because I was there on a Thursday night. The staff was really helpful and my food came out really fast. I ordered the BBQ Chipotle Sandwich and I found it to be really yummy and the BBQ Chipotle sauce was really good. And for the first time, I ordered my sandwich with their standard side of the chili. It was so good! I just wish they gave more of it! Veggie Grill has built a really good franchise and I'm glad to see that it's making vegetarian and vegan foods options more approachable, even for someone like me.

This place leaves a bit confused. How in the hell is this not meat? Their "chicken" sandwich is fantastic and apparently isn't chicken. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if this played out like the episode of Seinfeld with the "fat-free" frozen yogurt. Until then I shall enjoy my fauxmeat.

As a carnivore that loves steak, burgers, and chicken, the v-burger I ordered was shockingly good and didn't taste like other dry bland veggie burgers I've had in the past. Based on this one experience, I'm definitely gonna go back and try some of their other entrees.

so my boyfriend and i have become "regulars" at this location. we used to go to the one on sunset but this one is a tad bit closer...in one week we came by almost every other day. it's comfort food at it's finest and with the introduction of those buffalo wings, i would be there every day if i could. we are just waiting for the addition of a veggie grill to east la. someone told us that there may be one in downtown, which would just mean i could fuel my addiction everyday. right when we walk in we get greeted. the person always recognizes us and jokingly says. "ohhh you haven't been here before have you" haha. everyones always super friendly here (well at all locations everyone they employ will be the nicest people ever). we tend to eat the same thing when we go in. i've had everything on the menu but my favorites are: the santa fe crispy chicken (if you want healthier go with the grilled chicken sandwich). nachos: HELLO! that cheese is surreal. it's delicious. and only 4.95 for a huge plate that has to be shared?!?! yes, please. sweet potato fries are the best around. my boyfriend never strays from the all american stack. he is obsessed with this thing. and our newest favorite thing: those buffalo wings. they're addicting and perfect. oh and if you have a sweet tooth like i do, get a cookie or a slice of carrot cake. mmmmmm.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I have always been a huge meat eater, but am trying a vegetarian kick (we'll see how long it lasts). I haven't been eating any meat imitation/substitutes, because all the ones I have tried have had a weird texture and smelled gross. Not the case at Veggie Grill! Had the carne asada sandwich and if I didn't know it was vegetarian, I would have just assumed it was genuine cow. Delicious and deceiving. Will definitely go back. Can't say anything about the service, because I got it to go, but I was impressed for sure.

You can't imagine how excited I was when Veggie Grill finally popped up in my neighborhood!! This is by far my favorite vegan restaurant in LA. My all-time favorites are the All Hail Kale salad w/Blackened Tempeh ($10.45), the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' sandwich ($8.95) and the Bayou Chickin' sandwich ($8.95). The sweetheart fries with the chipotle ranch are delicious and I swear to you if you gave their new Buffalo Wings to a meat eater they wouldn't know the difference. On a separate note- I randomly met one of the owners of Veggie Grill while I was on vacation with the boyfriend and he was such a kind and genuine person that it made me love this place even more! They really put a lot of time, effort and love into this business and it's refreshing to see that restaurant owners nowadays still care about the "little things". I'm definitely a big fan and an even bigger supporter of this restaurant chain and love what they're doing for mankind, animals and our environment. Thanks Veggie Grill =) Kudos to you!

It's been over a couple years since I've eaten at Veggie Grill until my friend Anita L. invited us out for a special event she was having here last night. My other half, Zeke has never had anything like Veggie Grill before so this was something totally new to him. For a huge meat eater... he was very impressed and loved almost everything we tried. Just one note: Don't get the mac n cheese!! We tried the buffalo wings, Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich, sweetheart fries, Papa Portabello Sandwich, Thai Chicken Salad (yummmm!), and the Baja Fiesta Salad. Everything we tried, except for the Mac n Cheese was delicious! The staff and service was very friendly and very attentive, and they always had a smile too (huge plus). Another reason why I think Zeke enjoyed this place so much was because they have wine and BEER!! So just in case you were wondering... they do have wine and beer =) I sipped on some peach black tea and some pomegranate green tea (two thumbs up). I wish I could've tried their other drink options.. they all looked so refreshing and tasty. If you're not a vegetarian and are scared of places like this... please give it a try, it's totally worth a try! I guarantee you wouldn't believe it was vegetarian ;)

Went here with friends and I had the Papa's Portebello. The mushroom is huge! It was juicy too. I had the red cabbage slaw for my side. It wasn't spectacular. I would come back here again but if I wasn't too hungry. I felt that this wasn't enough for me.

I was very surprised. Food here is very tasty and portions are large. You walk out feeling very satisfied. One criticism is it's a bit overpriced for the kind of food you're getting.

After everyone told me to try The Veggie Grill, I finally went today. Wow, was it delicious!!! I ordered the Buffalo Wings (which my friend's husband recommended saying "if you put these out at a Super Bowl party, no one would ever know the difference), the sweet potato fries (that my sister recommended), the Hail Kale salad with blackened chicken (which my friend recommended), the carrot cake (that I couldn't resist) and the lemonade. Everything was perfect! Even the sauces were incredible! I am not a vegan or a vegetarian...I am a girl that loves meat but I would never have known the difference. I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. In addition to the food being amazing, the service was great! Everyone was knowledgable, helpful, patient and nice!

I was lucky enough to be invited to join my friend for a tasting of this place. I brought my husband with me and was a little hesitate bringing him along because he's 100% meat eater, if there isn't meat on the plate, he doesn't considered it a meal. The afternoon started off with a few appetizers going around. Looked like big pieces of popcorn chicken with buffalo sauce and plain on the other. The first bite ----- WOAH - tastes just like chicken! The buffalo is a good tangy flavor and the sauces (ranch, chipotle, bbq - plus a secret tomatillo sauce) are just like sauces should be. My husband order the Bayou Chicken sandwich and I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and more buffalo strips since everyone else was passing around the Thai chicken salad, Fresh Baja salad, Santa Fe Chicken sandwich, mac-n-cheese and corn chowder. I would have to HONESTLY say that everything was surprisingly delish- except for the Mac-n-cheese and the chowder but they said they were working to change that. I have been suggesting we do a 1 Veggie day a week and my husband said if we come here, he would be down with 1 veggie meal a week. :-) I would say definitely give it a try.

  • pirate B.

Just about everything here is delicious. The thai salad is great, all of the sandwiches harken back to a time when I was eating a normal American diet without a care in the world. Where other veggie restaurants try to reinvent burgers and chicken sandwiches they often make great ideas, but something that tastes like the real thing is far better in many ways.

I love the food, but not the service. I just spent over five minutes on hold waiting to place a to go order. I called back twice and was put back on hold. I get that places get busy but they could have said that. It's better than wasting someone's time. Cajun burger and Mac and cheese are good though :-) if you can get someone to take your order.

After going to the one on Sunset for the past year I was so excited to hear that they were opening near the grove!! I went for the first time last night and couldn't have been happier! The service was that of a fancy restaurant! ...Everyone there was very helpful and more importantly NICE! - rare in LA these days. I got the Kale salad with Blackened Chicken which was amazing! ...For dessert I had the carrot cake and it's some of the best I had ever tasted! Def. will go back!

Stumbled across this Restaraunt while looking for a reasonable place to sit down and eat today at the grove. I know your thinking vegetables pressed to look like chicken, burgers and steak...yuk..but let me tell you, I was surprised when I took the first bite of the chicken strip sample outside, to the satisfying Santa Fe Chicken sandwich I ate. Let me tell you taste exactly like chicken, with every bite...Not only is the food great, the price is reasonable, the selection of drinks is healthy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to my next visit there...I think I'm gonna try the steak sandwich next...over all a great experience and a very excellent find...thumbs up from this very satisfied customer...

veggie grill is one of those places that re-defines how you interpret vegan food. my older sis is a vegan and on one of her visits to LA, we tried out veggie grill over in the hollywood area. our family tried out a a few things on the menu and everything was pretty darn good. i was pretty excited that a closer veggie grill opened up and now there is an added option should i eat around the grove area. my fav is the santa fe crispy chick'n over kale (the burger is just too messy for me and learning that i can do it over kale makes me happy because i heart kale). i also tried a friend's all hale kale salad and omg, that was phenomenal too! ithe ginger vinagrette was amazing with the kale and walnuts. i'm not even a fan of ginger but i'm slowly learning to appreciate and if ginger vinagrette can be this delicious, i'm pretty much converted to a fan now. i unfortunately did not like the mac and cheese as i still can't get used to melted vegan cheese but the chili is delicious and i would gladly take that as my side. yum.

My cousin was doing this detox/vegan program. I am not vegan myself, but this place is amazing. I had a Thai Salad. It had these cool little grain looking things inside. The dressing was filled with pizazz! My mouth was dancing with mandarin delight and crunchy slivers of goodness. My cousin had their Fiesta salad and it was definitely a fiesta. I didn't think I could like soy "Carne asada!" I would definitely come back here again. :)

My family of four carnivores loved our lunch at the Veggie Grill! We ordered two salads (the signature kale salad and a Baja salad), two sandwiches (a veggie burger and a carne asada sandwich) and two sides (sweet potato fries and mac 'n' cheese). We LOVED the salads, both of which were tossed with quinoa and a sweet/tangy mango papaya dressing. The quinoa provided heartiness and pleasant texture, and we will be adding it to salads at home from now on. The sandwiches were also delicious and definitely the biggest surprise of the meal. The tender carne asada tasted just like the real thing, and the veggie patty was so much tastier than dry, crumbly ground beef. As for the sides, the crisp sweet potato fries and accompanying spicy ranch dip delighted our family, while the mac 'n' cheese did not. Despite its creamy texture and golden color, the mac 'n' cheese had an off-putting sweet aftertaste. The breadcrumbs were tasty, though! Service was upbeat and friendly, and parking was convenient. Can't wait to return and try their chickin sandwiches!

Drink review only: Stopped in here to grab something cold to drink. They have a nice selection of teas and a couple juices, all but one sweetened with cane sugar. I mixed some black tea with lemonade. Pretty good! Also tried the pomegranate green tea and strawberry lemonade - sweet but tasty. I'll have to stop back sometime to try the food. Looks and smells good. Staff are really friendly!

I had the baja fiesta salad gluten free, and omg it was so good! It comes with quinoa and avocado and mango and lettuce and cucumbers.... excuse my grammar but the dressing. holy shit the dressing. It's ginger-papaya which doesn't sound good but holy shit it was so freaking good. it's light and creamy and seriously i was contemplatnig just eating it by itself... the salad itself is also really filling, and the cashier was super friendly

Pros: Great food at reasonable price, friendly staff, simple place to meet up with family or friends, and you get a free meal on your birthday. Cons: There should be more of them. They prove it is possible to make good nutritious food at fast food speeds. Now that's not to say that everything is healthy. But considering other fast food joints, this is the holy kale of quick dinning. All of their deep fried chicken dishes (chicken strips, chicken platter, Santa Fe chicken sandwich) are perfectly cooked and I often prefer them over real chicken. Kale salads are tender and delicious.

  • Melissa S.

I went there for a business lunch today and the food was awesome! My boss had the something bliss wrap and it was delicious! I had the All hail kale salad, it was lite, refreshing, and perfect for a hot sunny day. I recommend this spot to all veggie lovers :) Side note: Their buffalo chicken salad looks BOMB! The guy next to me had it and said it was delicious...

We are addicted to their Beef tacos and Vegie cheese burgers! I love their Nachos , Cuban sandwich, BBQ Burger and Carrot Cake and also delicious! Their chili is okay but needs seasoning (flava flave!!) as some of their menu items are lacking flavor, but when these guys hit it...they nail it! I'd rather eat here or RFD (Real Food Daily) than almost anywhere else in LA's land of food-a-rama!

This was my first time eating in a vegetarian/vegan style eatery and it was awesome. I had a portobello mushroom burger with sweet potato fries that were fantastic and the chicken soup was delicious too. I wish I lived closer because I would absolutely go here again. It was a little pricey but the food was so good, I didn't even mind.

I partake in veggie food pretty regularly. But other than veggie burgers, I usually prefer that veggie food doesn't try to be something it's not (chicken, for instance). However, I read really excellent reviews for this place, and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chik'n (in a wrap, at the cashier's suggestion) and had a side of the sweet potato fries and a lemonade. Altogther, this cost almost $15, which is pretty steep for lunch. But everything was excellent. The strawberry lemonade was the perfect balance between sweet and sour, and the sweet potato fries were crunchy outside and soft on the inside. My wrap was fabulous, with lots of avocado, and though the chik'n was no chicken, it was good. I will be back, if only to try the kale salad that everyone raves about!

Simply amazing! The Kale Salad with grilled or blackened chicken (spicier) is simply a dream. I look at my meal and feel, I am truly getting my money's worth. Delicious, clean, plenty, and made with love and care. I tried several locations and they were all equally great. Sign up for a birthday coupon.

Overpriced and not very good. I'll pass next time. Sweetheart fries are the best part, but I have had better. I would probably give it 3 stars, but I'm giving it two since it is way to highly rated on yelp.

  • Shivam P.

For any vegetarian, this place would be amazing. Even for devout meat eaters, this place proves to be enjoyable. I've been to the veggie grill (different locations each time) a few times now, and each time the V-burger has been good. I wouldn't say it's great or the best because I've tasted better veggie burgers, particularly at The Counter. However, I took my friend, who didn't know that this place was 100% plant-based and free of animal fat, and she absolutely loved her Santa Fe Crispy Chicken burger and was shocked to learn that it wasn't really chicken. Also the sweet potato fries here are delicious and their teas are all worthy of trying.

Mostly I love Veggie Grill and Highly recommend that you go there, but a couple things about this place bug me and keep me from giving it five stars. I'll get to those buggin' things in a minute, but first the good stuff: MY FAVES The Tortilla Soup...creamy, flavorful, delicious...total comfort food. (They only serve this on Tuesdays and Saturdays) The Carrot Cake...light, moist, perfectly spiced and totally craveable. One weird thing...it needs to be refrigerated. At room temp for too long the frosting sort of melts which is actually a good thing (even though it sounds gross) because fats that are liquid at room temperature are better for you. Yeah, there's your science lesson for the day :-) OK here are the not so good things: The mac & cheese is seriously hideous. I mean N.A.S.T.Y. Do NOT get it! It's always freezing fr*#$ng cold in there. Don't just bring a sweater, bring a parka. The decor and lighting wierds me out...it's dim and reddish and creepy like you're trapped in a 70's sci-fi movie like Logan's Run. I don't want to leave you with bad stuff, though...overall it's tasty and healthy, affordable, and worth a visit! ******UPDATE******* Two things: 1) There are new menu items. I just tried the "crabcake" sandwich and it was DELISH!! SO good! Seriously! Get one! 2) I also just went to the Sunset location for the first time, and I like it so much better. The lighting is nicer, the outside seating area is very comfortable. The AC doesn't seem to be set on "Antarctica" like at the Fairfax store.

Oh Veggie Grill, have I told you lately, that I love you and glad you exist? No really...I seriously love you. You have so many tasty treats for us. VEGAN friendly! so if you have Vegan friends please bring them here. Also Veggies, if you have meat eaters, bring them here, they will like it. :) OMG! ok, So many recomendations! FIRST! the Sante FE "Burger" was very good, nice and spicy! THEN! the Chipotle "burger" so delicous omg! spicy but not too bad. Chill out Wings with the magical sauce! KALE salad/side is delicious! Sweet Potato fries I LOVE YOU LONG TIME! ALSO! they have teas, they DO NOT SERVE soda. so don't compalin. I like the teas, and you can sweeten it with some organic sugar or Agave. :) I highly recommend this place. it's pretty big, so they have room, the staff is super nice, and I always have had a great experience there. Thank You Veggie Grill you are wonderful!

Wow! Surprised to see this place rated as high as it is... On our way over to Chipotle, my wife spotted this spot. Given she's a vegetarian, she immediately said "It's my kinda place..." Instead of grabbing food from different spots, I figured I'd try it out with her. The employees were friendly enough as one spotted us checking out the menu. We tried out one of their chicken sandwiches, along with a "VG" cheeseburger. Both had this weird taste... that we just couldn't quite figure out. I think my wife really wanted to like the place, but it was pretty clear for both of us that we wouldn't be coming back again. I think what I figured out from trying this spot out was that we both like vegetables... and I definitely like eating beef/chicken etc. What we don't like are dishes that are vegetable based, trying to be something like meat... If you're going to go through so much work trying to make things taste like meat, just eat it... Otherwise just eat your vegetables the good ol' fashioned way...

I love the veggie grill. I always order food while I am at work (LA Bite delivers). I am a vegan and there is nothing on the menu that isn't delicious. I have even eaten with non-vegans and they are pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food is. If you have room for dessert get the carrot cake. If don't have room for dessert take it to go. If you don't like carrot cake - try it again. It's the best I have ever had and I'm not one for carrot cake, now I'm addicted !

After participating in an Engine 2, 28-Day Challenge at work, we had our "graduation party" at this Veggie Grill location. This place is great, and I will definitely be back. I had the BBQ "beef" sandwich with red slaw, a side order of sweet potato fries and an iced tea. The BBQ sandwich used seitan strips instead of pulled pork, but it was delicious! The sauce was tangy with a little kick to it. Served on a whole grain bun, this sandwich disappeared fast! The side order of sweet potato fries was generous and amazing. It's hard to get sweet potato fries crspy, but these were excellent. I ordered a black iced tea and made my own Arnold Palmers with the lemonade nearby. Veggie Grill is not cheap. My 3 items came to about $16. But the food is hot, fresh, and delicious. My only quibble with The Veggie Grill is the decor. It's not much better than a Subway. I wouldn't recommend taking a date to the Veggie Grill.

I once believed that the term "vegan comfort food" was an oxymoron. The Veggie Grill opened my eyes. After experiencing the All-American Stack, side of onion rings (not on the menu, but my mom was wise enough to make this request - get them with chipotle dressing!), and chocolate pudding, I wanted to curl up and have a nap. This is now my first and last stop on every single one of my visits home.

On a recent excursion to Veggie Grill, I ordered the VG Cheeseburger (El Dorado style, sans jalapeños). Let me tell you: It's delicious! Who needs meat? Not me. Not when I have the VG Cheeseburger to rely on. The Mac n' Cheese: Light. Not your KRAFT Macaroni, but good nonetheless. (Made with quinoa pasta!) The Sweetheart Fries (sweet potato fries) dipped in that sauce they give you... Yum. The only downside: They don't have unsweetened green tea. If they did, it'd deserve 5 stars. Oh, and the service is impeccable. Both for dine-in and pick-up orders.

Great food and very friendly staff. My server, Hector, was super nice and made sure my order was perfect. If you go, make sure to order "The All-American Stack"; so delicious.

Although I do love my filet mignon, sometimes meat is too much for me. When I need a lighter alternative that still has protein, Veggie Grill is my go to. I know a lot of people are skeptical about trying faux meat, but the two protein selections I've tried so far, chickin' and veggie steak, almost have the same consistency and flavor as the real thing. I highly recommend the Chipotle BBQ burger paired with sweet potato fries and peach iced tea, which I absolutely LOVE. Trust me, Veggie Grill is definitely worth trying!

Today I stopped by Veggie Grill for a small spring mix salad. Very simple, no hassle. The restaurant was busy, typical for the lunch hour. However, over 20 minutes had passed & I had still not gotten my order (it was to go). I stepped up to the counter, and could see my salad in a ceramic bowl on the kitchen window. The server behind the counter saw me, and noticed me looking a bit irritated, and called to me that the kitchen accidentally filled the order for "dine in" & not to go, and they would be transferring the salad into a take-out box. I had my salad within 5 minutes, and the server gave me a card for a complimentary meal on my next visit for my troubles. THANK YOU!!! By the way--the new B-Wing salad is beyond delicious!!!

I went to veggie grill for the first time today and order the Portobello sandwich with the raw slaw it was really flavorful and filling. I've changed my diet to eating more fruits and vegetables and Veggie Grill is a great place for me to get fast healthy food versus the various other bad choices we have. A must try ,,,,,,

I fell in love with Veggie Grill at their very first location in Irvine, across from where I went to school: UCI. Ever since then, I've gone to the Spectrum location and now this new one at the Farmers Market next to the Grove. I'm a HUGE carnivore but their food here is just so tasty I can't believe this is vegetarian! My recs: "Chicken" nuggets: tastes just like the real thing with 3 different dipping sauces All Hail Kale Salad: OMG my absolute favorite salad to date. So filling and extremely delicious. Everything from the salsa to the kale to the candied walnuts in this salad. De-Lic-ioussss! So for all you skeptics out there who say vegetarian food isn't good, give Veggie Grill a try and find out that you can enjoy non-meat food as well.

Yummy! My friend and I shared the Papa's Portobello burger and the Baja Fiesta Salad. The Portobello burger was pretty awesome. You have a choice of a side between red cabbage slaw or chilli or you can pay extra for others. The slaw was not that great. The Baja Fiesta Salad tasted very fresh. I would definitely come here again.

Thanks to Mad Hungry Woman and management for making the tasting happen. Mmmmm....the Santa Fe Crispy "Chicken" and sweet heart fries. The "chicken" has the consistency of chicken nugget and bonus, no fungus (mushroom) flavor! I do believe that it's more green to eat well prepared vegetarian/vegan food rather than eat processed veggie but still good if you have the animal craving I suppose!

I had a birthday offer for a free meal here.I wasn't sure which burger to get so I asked to the cashier person and he said get this Santa Fe crispy chicken, so that's what I got. I really enjoyed my sandwich. It's healthy yet tasty. And I don't feel guilty.

Love me some Veggie Grill. All Hail Kale Salad is amaze as well as the buffalo wings. I've tried a few other things on the menu (everything was good - didn't love the mac n' cheese) but it's a great place for a vegetarian to dine and have a little fun.

Fast, friendly and fantastic vegan food. I don't eat processed grains, and I'm missing that comfort food like nothing else! BUT VEGGIE GRILL GIVES YOU TRADITIONAL AMERICAN FOOD IN A HEALTHY WAY. Quinoa-based Macaroni and Cheese! I'm so happy! Yummy fried fake chicken with zesty pickle relish and guacamole. I'm sold! It's the perfect place for anyone who is busy and healthy! (No wonder they're doing so well in Los Angeles!)

As the name suggests, this place is for vegetarians. Plenty options to choose from. I liked their beans, pilaf, sweet potato fries, and teas. My server Amanda was so amazing, she went out of her way to make sure everything was ok. One of the nicest customer service ever.

I've been to the Veggie Grill on Sunset many times, but this was my first encounter with the new location at the Farmer's Market. Atmosphere is clean and bright, as usual. Service was better than I've ever received. Food was great, but my burger patty was a little on the burnt side--a grilling accident, I'm sure! Everything else was great.

All Hail Kale! The best kale salad ever! And with a half order of the sweet potato fries- say what?! I'm in Vegan Heaven! I'm not a big fan of Vegan replacement foods, I'd rather just eat more fruits and veggies but I do miss me some mac n cheese from time to time and Veggie Grill's is pretty delicious. I highly recommend it! Plus, they'll validate your parking so you can get 2 hours for free.

I love the food here but there is one girl (heavy set, short haired blonde with glasses) that consistently gets my name wrong on my to go orders. The last time I was in, I ordered food to eat there and then food to go and specifically asked for a soup to go. She went to check if they had any left and she said yes so I paid for my to go order and sat down to wait for my meal. When she comes to my table to give me my to go order, she says they are out of soup and hands me my order. I was a little pissed because obviously they sold the last of the soup to someone else. I told her this and she didn't even apologize for the mistake nor did she offer a substitution. I had to REMIND her that I paid for the upgrade of soup and therefore wanted another item then as my side dish. Stupid girl. I always have the unfortunate luck that she's the one working when I go in. The food is so satisfying and healthy for you. My favorite things to order are the Chicken Caesar Wrap, Santa Fe Crispy Chicken, Sweetheart Fries, All Hail Kale, Carne Asada sandwich (in a wrap), the list goes on and on (see my El Segundo location review). I will say that the food is consistent across all of the locations although the batter is heavier on the patty of the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken here and they are more generous with the fries as well.

One of my favorite spots for vegan food. Mostly it's all been said in other positive reviews, here are a few menu tips from a regular: Love the All Hail Kale salad, the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken, sweet potato fries and the buffalo wings (in any form) The mac and cheese and nachos are fabulous if you're allergic to dairy and never get to taste them! If you're used to the real deal, skip these two items. GF Power Plate - tried it as I am gluten free but was not good - really weird combination of flavors. Service is unbelievably fast - if you are getting take out, would recommend calling no more than 5-10 mins in advance, it's really that fast. Order more sweet potato fries than you think you need. Don't forget to get parking validated by farmers market if you park in the farmers market lot, and by the grove (nordstrom is your easiest bet) if you park there.

My vegetarian friend brought me here after raving for a while about their sweet potato fries. When we got there, a really friendly member of the staff came up to us and introduced the menu to me because it was my first time there. I ended up ordering the Santa Fe crispy chick'n burger with a side of the sweet potato fries, and they were great! The service was quick on the weekend afternoon that we went, and the same employee who greeted us came with out food (with the same big smile). Parking was easy -- don't forget to validate! I'd definitely like to come back and try to their salads.

I love the Veggie Grill! It is definitely one of my favorite places to go when I'm looking for a healthy meal that fills me up but doesn't leave me feeling heavy and disgusting afterwards. My favorite is the Papa's Portobello burger. The portobello is so so juicy and meaty! I love the single roasted garlic on top and the caramelized onion, pesto, and chipotle ranch meld beautifully together to provide a sweet but fresh-with-a-zing taste. From the sides, I've tried the red cabbage slaw, steamin' kale, and the chili. I would pay the extra for the steamin' kale because it's delicious! It's tender, fresh, and is so savory with the ginger-miso dressing and sesame seeds. The consistency of the chili is similar to that of refried beans, and frankly -- both the chili and the red cabbage slaw are pretty boring. Pay the extra for the kale instead. And for oppressively hot days like today, I would get the pomegranate green tea -- refreshing!

This place is so freakin' perfect. The food is awesome, and the people are great. I have been wishing for years that someone would make a veggie Buffalo Chicken breast sandwich and V.G.'s version grants that wish in spades. I also had the All-American (Great American?) sandwich which was incredible. My only sadness is that I ate here on vacation, but I live in Atlanta where there are no Veggie Grilles. Oh, well. I guess my budget will be more manageable though - if there was one in ATL, I'd probably eat there 5 times a week. Oh, and the wife and kids feel the same way I do!

Great place. Love that they don't have a soda fountain but rather iced teas and lemonades. The sweet potato fries are among the best I've ever had. The dipping sauce is killer - and I love that there isn't any mayo or egg yolks in it. The American burger is good - love the onion rings in it.The fake steak is ok. But the burger overall is very tasty. Not loving the coleslaw though (next time I'll get the chili instead). I found it very boring. Great lunch spot.

All Hail Kale!!! and All Hail Veggie Grill for opening up a location closer to my house, than their WeHo counterpart. I was walking from my car to somewhere else in the Farmer's Market when I noticed this location, and there was a nice lady offering up samples of their tempeh as well as "chicken" fingers... I had to have lunch right there and then. I had visited their WeHo location, and can't get enough of their All Hail Kale salad with blackened tempeh (minus the dressing, which I find to be too sweet). Eventually one day, I will try something else on their menu, but this salad is just too good. Some might find it a little on the pricey side ($11.47 -- tempeh included, with tax), but it's such a huge salad that it's totally worth it. Free 2 hour parking (w/validation), friendly staff, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating.

It's crazy what they can do with veggies... chicken sandwiches are dope... and they don't taste like soy dogfood or gluten butt hole Great lemonade and ice tea Fantastic sweet potato fries (wac mac and cheese = soggy sad face ) only bad new is vajayjay grill is a little pricey compared to it's neighbors freshii, chipotle, and all that bounty at the farmers market

VG turned me into a believer in soy meat! That's right, SOY freaking MEAT! I've been told the chicken is surprisingly delicious, but I had the beef burger. The marinade of the beef is sweet. This isn't KBBQ-kalbi-sweet, more like a honey-infused with herbs kind of of sweet. It was new to me, but not bad at all! Ask for the ranch, it's really good. AND it's not dairy. These people are so creative. My gal pal says it's so good she can just drink it, seriously! I'm not too crazy about kale, but the salad was prettttty yumz! I can see why people rave about it. I wanna go back for the chicken. They've got some creative items on the menu with chicken :D

Veggie grill is amazingly good for what it is: fast food for vegans. Sure, it's not haute cuisine. But if you need a quick, fast tasty mess of munchies - this is your place. Vegan burgers, fries, wings, nachos, etc. Think Katy Perry - veg friendly, quality, fun and simple - but too much and you will feel a little sick. And it is waaay too easy to have too much at Veggie Grill, just like it's waaay too easy to listen to Perry's "Last Friday Night" song on repeat too many times. Hurts so good.

The best Veggie burger EVER! Really! You must try this and have some of the sweet potato fries. Parking in the lot can be tricky if you go right at lunch time so go a little earlier, they validate your parking ticket up to 2 hours. After you eat you can stroll down to the Farmers Market or the Grove....Love it!

Edit: a few hours later, we both still are feeling rather icky from eating this "food". NOT a good experience. Can't recommend this place. Original review below: It wasn't life-altering, but not bad either. The buffalo wings were good - more proof that you put buffalo sauce on just about anything and it will be delicious. The dressings and dips, not so much - weird texture, light on flavor. The chili was tasty, but that was expected. The American Stack burger - eh, it was alright. The choice to have shreds of pseudo meat instead of a patty was a very poor one. It makes it annoying to eat the sandwich - bits of it falling out everywhere. Flavor-wise, it was fine. Surprisingly expensive ("upgrade" your 9 dollar "burger" side for only $2.25 - ripoff), the sweet potato fries were awful. Flabby and really unpleasant. I think I'm hard to please because I have cooked vegetarian foods before that were far, far better than this, but for someone who can't/won't cook their own food, I suppose this is okay. I'll probably be back some time, but I certainly won't crave it. Oh yeah, we tried the carrot cake, that was good.

My favorite fast food place (not really fast food prices but you know what I mean...) The way they use fake meat is a cooking inspiration. All of the food here is good. Eat here. Listen to their music and sit in their cute outdoor area. It's definitely worth the very short walk from the Grove. It's mellow and especially good in an ambiance/food/service combo. This chain would make a killing in my neighborhood.

All Hail Kale! A creature of habit, the All Hail Kale is almost always my order. Occasionaly I stray, but I come right back again. Quick, healthy veggie food. If you crave sweet try the chocolate pudding parfait... yum.

I'm sick of veggie places coming off as if they are healthy. The majority of their products contain WHEAT GLUTEN which a large percentage of the population is allergic to. Their gluten-free menu has like 3 things on it. They should be more clear about this in their advertising instead of wasting my time. All of it looks healthy to the untrained eye, but this food is more fattening than McDonalds. It's a lot of fried so-called vegetarian stuff on a bun - how fun!

  • Mark S.

I rarely give chains great ratings but these folks have it down. The fake meat is some of the best I've ever had - and I eat a lot of fake meat. Yummy buffalo wings. The quinoa noodle mac and "cheese" was so tasty you couldn't tell it was healthy and vegan! The service was nice too, we chatted about how we need one of these in SF.

They have friendly staff there and their lemonade there are awesome especially strawberry lemonade. I believe they cook their food to order so everything is fresh. Their sandwich and burgers were great but let me tell you their sweet potato fries. They are really the bomb!!

Veggie Grill is AWESOME. I am so incredibly happy that they opened a location by the Grove because the one on Sunset and Crescent Heights is a pain in the butt to get to. The Grillin Chicken ( I have had it twice) is really good! It comes with pesto, avocado and a tasty chipotle ranch spread. So I will be perfectly honest, the first few bites you go OMG this tastes exactly like chicken.. this is sooo good but towards the last few bites you definitely start noticing that it isnt chicken HOWEVER that doesnt mean that it doesnt still taste good because it does even though you arent eating chicken- which is exactly why I am so impressed with Veggie Grill. My bf got the fried "chicken" sandwich and it was delish! I also love the sides like the kale with miso and the sweet potato fries! After eating here you feel so healthy and proud of yourself. I admire Veggie Grilll's ability to not only create a good sounding menu but also with their ability to create great tasting food. So excited to have Veggie Grill in the rotation of weekday dinner places to go to!

Pretty much go here weekly. I love their "chicken", sweet potato fries, and I found after adding a touch of salt the Mac & Cheese is great too! Sign up for their emails (which they don't send a lot) and you get a free entree for your birthday. The staff has always been extremely friendly...wish I worked there so I could get a meal everyday :) Love, love, love this place..ha

I was working for the day near the grove, so I researched my dining options near me (I am vegan and dont want to be left stranded without somewhere to eat near) and was excited to see there was a Veggie Grill in the Farmers Market! I love the Veggie Grill in SM. I damn near skipped on over on my lunch, and when I arrived I made a hasty b-line for the registers. Maybe I was TOO excited to be there? Not only was there no 'hi' as I walked up to the register but the girl couldnt even crack me a smile. 'Oookkk' I thought. Pick up a menu anyways. Feel register girl getting anxious and shifty as I've been looking at the menu for 30 whole seconds. Still no greeting or acknowledgment. Just as I put down my menu to order my lunch.. -gasp- she speaks! She says: 'what are you getting'. My answer- 'Nothing. Thanks.' Lata Veggie Grill.

definitely sign up for their birthday special, i ate my dinner yesterday for FREE! Ordered the B-wing salad entree. The "wings" have a pretty realistic texture, like the meat of chicken nuggets but better. The skin wasn't as crispy as I would've liked, but the guy at the register had told me the sauce weighs down and can make it soggier. impressed by the fair, honest, cheerful service! but the entree was bursting with clean buffalo flavor, and the salad part was fresher than any salad I've eaten in a long time. just the wings alone would've been 4 stars, but i'll bump them up to five for service, interior (although i ordered to go), birthday special, and for making fake chicken that fooled both my carnivorous sister and friend. gotta try their crispy chicken homestyle plate (mashed cauliflower! kale salad!), carrot cake, and sweet potato fries!

Today I was checking out The Grove - the free trolley car is a nice touch - when a lady came by to offer a food sample from the newly opened Veggie Grill. The sample was fake chicken fingers with two optional dips. It was delicious. It was past noon and I was starving. So, I ended up going to the Veggie Grill around the corner. I was looking for something light, but filling. I tried the 'All Hail Kale' (salad) with added grilled fake chicken, and I didn't regret it. Overall, it was somewhat sweeter than I would usually have a salad, but it had exacty the freshness and crunch I was craving. The staff was outgoing and friendly, and the place was spotless clean. Next time I'm in the area and hungry there's a good chance they'll see me again.

I stopped by The Veggie Grill on their opening day after hearing about it from @MiracleMileLA. I'm a meat eater but was craving something fresh and delicious, so I took a vegetarian friend along and neither of us were disappointed. I ordered the Portobello Burger with a side of Mac 'n Cheese and my friend order the Fried Chik'n Sandwich with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The burger was crazy good, served on a whole wheat bun with grilled onions and pesto. If I were vegan I imagine the mac'n cheese would be crack good. It was creamy and gooey and delicious, I wouldn't have known it was dairy free if I hadn't known where I was eating. The fried chik'n sandwich was even better than the portobello, crispy but not at all greasy. And the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries I managed to snag from my friend's plate while she was mid-bite were tiny bites of heaven, crispy on the outside and melt in my mouth good on the inside. Served with a dairy free chipotle aioli, I will definitely order this the next time I stop by. Before we left the manager stopped by our table and gave us complimentary dessert, carrot cake and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was okay, but the carrot cake (my favorite) tasted exactly as I'd want it to, deliciously moist with a cream-cheesey frosting. It fooled my dairy-loving sweet tooth and I wished I had had room for a full serving. Overall this place definitely deserves 5 stars for casual lunch or dinner on the go, great whether you're a vegan or not. This will be a new usual for me, can't wait to go back and try the steamed kale :)

Being allergic to chicken, I thought I'd never be able to eat it again until I found out about this place. I get the Santa Fe chicken sandwich all the time and its freaking delicious for vegan food. Trust me, I've tried other soy chicken places and I'm sorry but Veggie Grill is the only place where their chicken actually feels and tastes like chicken. Try the buffalo wings too! **5 stars for food quality for the price you pay** So why 2 stars? The cashier (reciept says Aletha was the cashier) gave us an attitude for asking to split the bill and she obviously didnt know what she was doing, it was probably cus she was trained properly, I dont know. I felt really uncomfortable waiting for her to have us figure out how much to charge on each card since she messed up on the register. And me being the last to be ringed up, I ended up paying a few dollars more (which I don't mind but I thought I'd mention it to let you guys know that this may happen to you if you decide to split the bill). As this happened, I was lectured about how to order on the phone... Well, at least I know how to make it more convenient for them. Thought it was supposed to be the other way around.... Sorry Veggie Grill lady, now I know. We eventually had to ask her to give us drinks that came with a couple of the meals we ordered and she just gave us a hard time and then eventually ended up figuring out that the drinks did actually come with the(kids) meal. **0 stars for the cashier Aletha (oh man, I hope I got the right girl) and the person who trained her. And a negative star for the uncomfortable moment! Overall, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with their poor customer service today, and I know they're better than that.

Love this place. Love it. Love everything on I've tried so far! Grillin' Chicken is my fav, and Bali Bliss is quite good (and also the cheapest entree on the menu!), All Hail Kale, soup of the day, and of course, the sweet potato fries. Almost always followed up with the carrot cake. YUM. Oh, and the strawberry lemonade is fantabulous. First - plenty of seating! Yay. Second - the food is fresh, healthy, and incredible. Filling, healthy, tasty vegan food that didn't break the bank. Time to take over the world, Veggie Grill!

Round two! except for a different location this time. Last time I went to the Sunset one my experience was less than stellar. I got really sick off the food and was hesitant to try it again (partly why I went to a diff location). The food was good the first time though despite the adverse reaction later but this time I didnt get sick!! Woot major plus. Round two the food was outstanding and the customer service was memorable. I love that the cashier helped us order and told us what he a meat and potatos sort of guy liked. My bf really liked his asada sandwich and chicken fingers. This time around we got the veganaise on the side (a must b/c they douse it otherwise) and the new chicken fingers that dont come drenched in any sauce. They were considerably less greasy than last time when we got buffalo wings. Fresher and crisper without being overly fried. This time around we nixed the mac and cheese (not our fav) and tried the new mashed potatoes and cauliflower with idk what kinda magic gravy but it was pretty good. My sandwich the Bayou Chicken (again veganaise ON THE SIDE) was really good, better than the asada I think. And it was actually spicy (not crazy spicy just not the kinda heat you'd expect at this sort of place) I think it they went a little crazy on the cayenne, I loved the heat though but it might not be everyones cup of tea. It was pretty peppery. My kale side was really good too. 4.5 stars so far not quite 5 b/c it's still not as crazy healthy as you may think with all the sauces and add ons and friedness and it's kinda pricey (any "regular" side is at least a $2 add on to your meal) and there's nothing for me to drink (diet drink of some sort please!!! Agave is still sugar which will collect around my mid section!!!). But wow really wow maybe after some more pleasant experiences I'll eat my words and this will be a 5 star kinda place for me. Definitely going back

Their buffalo wings are amazingggg! It tastes so much like actual boneless buffalo wings that I had to take another bite and look again to see if I was actually eating chicken meat. I also really like their sweet potato fries, so yummy! I love all the iced teas they offer as well; the pomegranate green tea is my faaaave :)

Okay, I love love love the VG burger with "cheese" and the Sweet Potato fries with Chipotle Mayo... Yum!!! Chicken noodle soup is great when I'm feeling a little sick too. Would have given 5 stars, but the seems to always mess up or forget something in my order... So- check you bag before you leave. On the note- they are super friendly and always fix the mistake... It almost reminds me of healthy vegan fast food, or a vegan cafe....

Uh yeah, I'm a fan for sure. It all started with Papa's Portabello and then I moved on to the Santa Fe Crispy Chikin'. I'm pretty sure everything on the menu will become my favorite dish at some point. Plus, they serve sweet potato fries, the quickest way to a ladies heart besides chocolate. Delicious, convenient and super reasonable. Go!

i mean...it was okay. I'm by no means vegetarian, i was just looking for a healthier place, and i was referred by friends who are also not vegetarian but liked this place a lot. So i was willing to give it a try... VG-cheeseburger is pretty good, if i couldn't have a regular burger, i guess this would be the second best thing lol. but i could taste that it wasn't a burger, so some people saying it tastes just like the real thing...(that's a lie) lol. but i liked it, red cabbage coleslaw was pretty good. my favorite part of the meal was the peach black tea, very refreshing. my bf's "stack burger" or w/e it was called, wasn't that great. the sauce was too sweet. he had to drown it in Cholula to finish it. so...it was a nice try, but i don't think i'll be spending money to eat here again.

So I was hanging out with my mom in LA when she decided she wanted to do lunch. I'm a vegetarian and she is afraid of faux meat. I asked her how she felt about eating at veggie grill and she was not thrilled but agreed. We walked in and took a gander at the menu, and decided she was not up for an adventure in faux meat. The cashier guy heard our conversation and came over and talked to her about getting a portobello sandwich or wrap and made suggestions about how she could have it, and which sides would be good. This totally put her at ease with eating here (THANK YOU NICE RED HEADED MAN!) and when our food arrived she devoured her sandwich! She was so satisfied with the meal! I knew the meal was going to be yummy, but I am forever thankful for the customer service provided at this location!

The thai chicken salad isn't just good, it maybe the best salad I ever had. First off, this place was the first vegetarian food I ever had. Every salad I had before had some form of meat in it, whether it be chicken or some processed meat such as salami in some form italian salad. The chicken in this salad is a soy byproduct and it tastes wonderful. For a split second, I actually believed it to be chicken. The satisfaction of eating something that was wholefully good for you is so empowering, it made me feel like I should by an electric car and be a full on hippie. However, because I'm not made of money, I can't afford to come here and buy a ten dollar salad every day, but it does make me wonder what life would be like without meat. This place is the first place that made me wish to be a life long vegetarian.

Our (my bf and i) first time at veggie grill by farmer's market off fairfax ave. I had the santa fe crispy chicken veggie burger-kale style and he had the all american stack burger. it was delicious!!! One of the best veggie burgers ive ever had....

The staff can't tell you what has wheat vs. Soy. The food is very low quality and tastes like it is out of a can. Blech.

Even my carnivorous friends like the vegan food served at Veggie Grill! I can not say enough good things about this restaurant chain. I've been equally impressed with the locations at the Farmers Market/Grove on Fairfax, 8000 Sunset and Santa Monica. I prefer the outdoor seating at the Sunset and Fairfax locations. This place makes a point to focus on quality, enticing vegan cuisine and customer service. Don't be afraid to ask questions here, their staff loves to chat about the menu! I've eaten almost everything on the menu and some of my favorites: buffalo wings, steamin kale, All American Burger, and the carrot cake. You can request gluten free options and their take out service uses all biodegradable/eco-friendly packaging. I love this place so much I'm lobbying to get my office to use them as one of our caterers :) 6/29/12 Had to include this...just introduced my friend to Veggie Grill today and she was so inspired by her meal and Barrett-Browning that she sent me this: How do I love thee Veggie Grill? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My taste buds can reach, when feeling hungry For the goodness and yumminess you provide. I love thee to the level of every day's Lunch break hour, and then by sun and candle-light. I love thee freely, with multiple napkins. I love thee purely, chipotle sauce and kale. I love thee with the passion only known By certain chefs, and foodies far and wide. I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints -- I love with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.

Really great - had the Carna Asada burger - you can tell the meat is not "real meat", but also shared the Cripsy Chicken burger and that was amazing how much it tasted like chicken. The kale salad as a side was great and how can you go wrong with Sweet Potato fries. Waiting for them to open up a place in Pasadena soon! It'll be a hit!

Finally, an affordable restaurant with good food at the Grove. I've tried most of the sandwiches and they're all great -- my favorites are the Santa Fe Crispy Chickn' and the Bali Bliss. The carrot cake is pretty good too . I've also been to the El Segundo, Santa Monica, and Hollywood locations and of course the food is just as good there as well. This location has nice outdoor seating and is well shaded.

Serious question: If the feed and land required for cows combine to make beef an inefficient diet, why aren't veggie burgers cheaper than the meat ones? Honestly. Something ain't right there, and I'm too cool to ask that know-it-all Parade columnist who uses her awesome gifts to spoil puzzles for distracted Howard Huge fans. Another mind-blower is how good the Veggie Grill burger is. I had heard amazing things about the Sunset Plaza location. That place didn't live up to them - but this one does. I wouldn't say it recreates the taste of beef, but it's completely fantastic on its own terms. A little steep if you're just grabbing a bite, especially with Chipotle and Freshii as neighbors; it's slightly more of a meal-with-friends place, and no more costly than the name burger temples.

My first time ever at the Veggie Grill, and it was the new one that opened at the Farmer's Market at the Grove. They were so friendly and helped me with my first time order. Even though it is considered more of a fast food restaurant, they came to our table twice to check on us and the food. I will definitely be going back there often and LOVE the V-Cheese Burger with baked sweet potato fries!!

    (5)
  • Mark C.

Good tasting food. Order was slightly wrong on the sides but ok. We couldn't believe the carne asada sandwich and the chicken sandwich were really veggies. So 1 point for tricking us but minus 1 point for the tremendous gas from both ends after. Take a beano for sure

This place is the JAM!!!! I've been to 3 locations (SM, WEHO, and this one), and they are all amazing! The first time was my favorite, but I have been hooked since, and they never disappoint. I approve of this veggie place! I was so happy when they opened this location, a few blocks from me :)

The Veggie Grill is an awesome place to eat if you need to stick to a vegetarian diet. Their food has awesome flavor, and the "meats" have identical texture. I love their carne asada and the santa fe chicken sandwich. The only downside to these places is that you can only pick healthy beverages like tea, coffee, or water. For me this is a downside, because I love diet coke with every meal. However; this has been the BEST vegetarian place I have been to in LA.

My boyfriend and I are now regulars here. We are absolutely in love with the papa's Portobello sandwich and let me tell you, it is so good!! I brought my mom here the other day and i could tell that she was a little hesitant but she loved it just as well! This place is a great healthy alternative and it's so delicious! It really fills you up too ( well, I eat like a bird, but my boyfriend eats like a hungry lion!). I recommend it to everyone! Meat eaters and vegetarians alike!!

Yay! They are finally open. I have been waiting for this Veggie Grill to open since I got my job on Fairfax back in January. This is definitely my new go to lunch place. Upon walking through the door the staff is unbelievably friendly. A lady greeted me at the door with several recommendations. She answered my questions without hesitation, so they are well versed in their menu already. The atmosphere is great for a fast food type place, much better than I would have thought. I ordered the Vg-Cheese burger El dorado style, which means they add caramelized onions, jalapeno and ketchup along with the lettuce, chipotle sauce and tomato that already come on the burger. The Cheese sauce was gooey and deliciouse and the patty was thick, this was a monster burger. Its a seitan style burger and very filling and delicious. I also got to try a sample of their wings, which were delicious, much better than any fake chicken I have tried yet.

Everything here is good. Always get the kale as your side. There's nothing much else to say about this place besides that if you eat there, you can get a refillable beverage. I think that's my favorite part about this establishment: the limitless fresh teas and lemonades. It's not cheap and I'm not vegan, but the quality of ingredients balances out the priciness, imo. Stop by after a good work out or for a light, fresh lunch and you won't regret it!

oh my goodness... i love this place! went there for my birthday recently and was amazed at the food. i have since gone back 3 times within the past week or so. I got the stack burger, absolutely amazing!!! it came with a side of chili and i got their sweet potato fries too. absolutely amazing. my new favorite place. my mom got the all hail kale salad, which also was surprisingly good. they make sure that their food is not only delicious but nutritious as well, which is something that a nutritionist-in-training can really appreciate. overall, great food, great customer service, great place! will be back very soon. now all they need is a location in the sf valley..

I'm surprised by how much I like Veggie Grill. I love meat, yet find Veggie Grill very satisfying. The only thing I've ever had was the Santa Fe Sandwich with a side of Kale. It's really a great meat alternative that will satisfy anybody. From the great reviews, I see that I'm not alone.

Love, love, love - eat here 2 or 3 times a week. Addicted to the Buffalo Wings (now they have it sandwich and salad style too!), Tempeh Burger (Bali Bliss), and the mac and cheese. All of the soups are amazing as well. And be sure to finish it all off with the carrot cake! We're vegan but always take our omni family and friends here and everyone - even the ones that are not very open minded - walks away satisfied and happy. The decor is really uplifting and the restaurant is always clean. I've seen the staff explaining the menu to many customers and they seem really nice and helpful. If you haven't tried it, you must go.

Management sent me a gift card which was nice of them-- to give the place another try and possibly upgrade my review. I went today. i ordered the chop chop salad. i like tempeh so got all tempeh instead of the other fake meats which have too much gluten for me to handle. i got the tempeh blackened. the tempeh tasted like smoke. i'm not talking smokey, i'm talking cigarette smoke. it was nasty. i ate it b/c i was hungry but now i feel like instead of inhaling second hand smoke, i ate it. the only reason this review is sticking with 2 stars and not going down to 1 is because their strawberry lemonade was pretty darn good. man, i'm just having the worst luck at this place. i also had to ask for more salad dressing b/c there was hardly any on it.

    (2)
  • Bushmill Q.

i'm addicted to their All Hail Kale salad, topped with blackened "chicken." even my meat-eating friends love their stuff here. my favorite lunch by myself is a salad, sweet potato fries, and a big mix of 3 iced teas/strawberry lemonade. all hail veggie grill!

  • Hallie A.

Any vegan restaurant that can make chicken noodle soup that tastes like real chicken noodle soup is fabulous in my book! It's hard to find vegetarian soups, let alone vegan soups, at restaurants. Just grabbed a half salad, half soup for lunch and I was really impressed. I will definitely be going back.

I've been living in this zone for 2.5 years and I used to go to Veggie Grill minimum once at week. What do I have to say? The food it's AMAZING and they serve super fast. My favorites are the Nachos and anything with their buffalo wings on in (salad, sandwiches or wraps). Their bowls are pretty yummy too and way healthier. The staff is a dream, I used to go with my service dog and everybody knew her. Going there was like going to eat at your friends place. Also, their rewards program it's spectacular. Every time you go there, you take a pic of the recipe and that will turn in a item for next time. Honestly, I don't know how it works for them because we had so many free items. Like A LOT. Now, we moved away from California to another state and we were pretty sad because we will miss Veggie Grill. Our surprised was when we found a Veggie Grill in our new city (YAY)!! We will go, of course but I'll miss the staff from the Farmer's Market one. A really good job, you guys.

Today I visited the Veggie Grill for lunch, at The Grove in Los Angeles. I dropped my cat off at the vets 5 miles east of the Veggie Grill. Next to the vets were several food establishments and one coffee house. However I chose Veggie Grill for two reasons, though it required 15 minutes of driving, parking and validating my ticket: a) I support vegan places whenever possible b) I prefer not to see or smell meat and dairy (if I can avoid it) while dining out I had my small dog Lucy with me and chose a place on the patio. Outside were sitting a group of women and children. They had pizza boxes in front of them from the pizza joint next door, "Blaze Pizza" and were eating CHEESE AND PEPPERONI pizzas. When I complained to the manager that I found this repugnant and disgusting being an ethical vegan, she mentioned that it was CORPORATE POLICY to remain silent and do nothing. DO NOTHING??? This is not the first time I have heard of similar incidents' where vegans go to Veggie Grill for a "safe place" only to find their neighbors are chowing down on hot dogs or pizzas. One of the servers came up to me and whispered that I should take action as they "all find it disgusting ... but it's corporate policy and there is nothing they can do". I have to say the staff and manager were as pleasant as they could be. I take umbrage with a VEGAN establishment allowing animal products in, so vegans can sit next to and smell the rotting flesh of animals and their oily cheese secretions. What you merely see as "product" we see and experience as suffering, cruelty and abuse. Veggie Grill Corporate will be hearing from me tomorrow and I have afforded them ONE STAR on Yelp. I am still outraged at their non-existent policy. Veggie Grill, seriously you are a huge disappointment. You serve vegan food because it's trendy obviously, not because you care. Until this lack of policy changes I shall be informing my thousands of friends about this, and I shall be boycotting your establishment.

I used to go to the Hollywood location weekly, and just visited this Farmer's Market location as it's now closer to me. If I could walk here or if parking/traffic weren't such a pain in this area, I'd come a lot more. Customer service has always been prompt, friendly, and liberal in my many experiences at all the VG's. This time, however, we waited over half an hour for our food to come out. Huge anomaly since it usually takes around five minutes. Not being in a rush this day, I didn't complain but was getting seriously hungry when our food finally arrived. I think they just forgot about our order, as most items were lukewarm, not hot and fresh. Along with our meal, the server gave us two complimentary entree cards to make up for the exceptionally long wait, proactively, without us saying a word. Stuff like this happens at any establishment. The way a restaurant handles it is what sets them apart. And Veggie Grill has always performed at the highest level. While my favorite item remains the Santa Fe Chx Sandwich, but we decided to try some alternative items this time- the Bahn Mi and Buffalo sandwiches. The Bahn Mi had a very crispy tofu patty, firm and seasoned, unlike any I've had before. The must have smooshed it prior to frying/baking. It has a nice, light breading on it of some sort. The bread roll is firmer and more substantial than their regular wheat bun, which is good for not falling apart, yet made for a dryer sandwich. I could have use twice the slaw topping/sauce on it. Our other sandwich was the Buffalo Chx, and this is pretty straightforward if you've had their buffalo wings before. It's a great sauce if you like buffalo, not too salty or sweet, just right as is the case with all their seasonings. This is not just one of my favorite vegetarian/vegan restaurants, but one of my FAVORITE overall.

Veggie Grill is an awesome choice for anyone in the market for fast, fresh, healthy food. The staff were very helpful and more than happy to give recommendations and make anyone and everyone feel welcome. The Seasonal Harvest salad was just what I was looking for: seasonal ingredients and the perfect combination of filling and light. The fact that the fruit (seasonal nectarines) was grilled was a nice added touch. The sweet potato fries were great, nice and crispy with a touch of spice. The only downsides are that it isn't easily viewed from the street (so it might be hard to find for newcomers) and parking can be pricey since validation is for the farmers market only. Overall, an easy, affordable lunch spot for nutritious food and speedy service, regardless of whether you're vegetarian or not.

After a nice experience at the Sunset location, I went here for lunch while visiting The Grove. They provide validation for parking in the Farmer's Market lot, which is a plus. I ordered the All Hail Kale Salad, which, while hailed to be one of the best, isn't my favorite item on the menu, but that's just me. I prefer to get the imitation meat sandwiches with their Sweetheart Fries. Though busy, service was quick and attentive here, and I didn't have any complaints. While there are plenty of food options in the area, Veggie Grill is a solid choice to grab something delicious.

Love Veggie Grill! If you're reading these reviews to decide whether or not you want to try it: do. From their various Los Angeles locations and even their Seattle location, the food quality is always consistent and fantastic! The service is great. Everyone is always so friendly. My personal favorites are: If I'm really hungry - the crab cake with a side of mashed potatoes. If I want something light but filling: The "pick a pair" of the buffalo mini wrap and thai chikin salad. Both are tangy and delicious. They pair well together.

One of my favorite go-to places for lunch!! I love everything on the menu. The salads taste sooo good. And, the entrees are always enjoyable. AND, i love their desserts. I LOVE the healthy food, good prices, fresh ingredients, friendly staff, free give-a-ways for your birthday, and nice atmosphere. I only wish that they opened another location EVEN closer to me.....

After having such a great experience at another Vegan place, I really felt like I wanted another vegan meal before leaving SoCal. This place left me SEVERELY disappointed. I had the All Hail Kale salad with Blacken Chickin. The salad part was okay, nothing to write home about, but not totally bad. The "Chickin" did not taste good. I am not a vegan, but this tasted like burnt chalk. My friend had the harvest bowl. MEH. Although, he was NOT happy I dragged him to a vegan place, he still tried to enjoy his meal. Other meat eaters said they were "converted" and would come back. He said no. He rather not have another meal here. At least they validate parking.

I'm obsessed. For vegan "fast food" this place is amazing! I didn't expect so many healthy options! My first visit I had the crispy "chicken" sandwich in a wrap as the cashier suggested. Also ordered onion rings and the grilled chocolate chip cookie! Oh my nom. Everything was deeeeee-lish! My second visit I ordered the kale Caesar with blacknd "chicken". Also very very tasty. I really wish we had Veggie Grills all over the country like mcdonalds and Taco Bell. It would make my life so much easier!

Brittney, the cashier, made this whole place even better. I asked her about the new menu items and she described them and recommended some and was genuinely excited to share the changes. She's the nicest person I've met at VG so far. The food was perfect and fast. I will be back simply because of her. :)

LOVE! I would give them a million stars if I could. As a long time vegan I've tried all the veggie restaurants in town, and this is the one I always frequent the most. I love to bring my flesh-eating coworkers and see their surprise and delight. One coworker was so hooked she brought her non-veg mom later in the week. Yea! I've had just about everything on the menu and love it all.

I used to think the Veggie Grill could do no wrong - until I ordered the Harvest Bowl. Blech. It looked and tasted like bland mush in a distinctly unappetising brownish grey "miso" "sauce." yes, air quotes on top of air quotes for this mystery goo-covered dish with overcooked veggies. No more branching out and trying new things on the menu. I'll just be sticking to the trusty tacos and all hail kale salad from now on.

This review is purely in response to the service I received today. I wanted to place a phone order for pick-up. The first time I called I was put on hold and clearly forgotten about because when i hung up 5mins later and re-dialed, the same gentleman was available to take my call. I ordered a Santa Fe crispy chicken wrap with the sauce on the side. The wrap was "wrapped" horribly...fell apart soon after I opened it, and no sauce was provided at all, and because I had to rush back to work I basically just had to eat it dry. It was a terrible experience overall and it wasn't worth the money. PLEASE be more mindful of your customers.

Trendy. Hipster. and Delicious.. Even if you're a meat eater and you hate the vegetarian/Vegan diet, one can at least appreciate the tastiness that is Veggie Grill. Location: Right next to the Arc Light Theather. Parking: Street Decore: Ample seating Food: Delicious. You won't find any meat or White bread here. But make no mistake their wheat buns, Vegan chipotle Mayo, Salad, and fries don't disappoint. Service: Friendly. Price: Expensive. Eating healthy in Hollywood is always a bit overpriced and trendy. Though, to give this place a fair shake the food is quite tasty for what it is. Cheers, J to the Y.

Veggie Grill is a vegetarian place that's good for lunch. Their "buffalo wings" are surprisingly delicious. Love the mashed potatoes and their mac and cheese! Onion rings are tasty too. Service is pretty good most of the time. Place is clean and nice inside, but I prefer taking it to-go.

Every vegetarian should know about this restaurant. Everything I have tried on the menu is delicious. I was concerned about the meats containing GMO's, and was assured that they have a strict non-GMO policy. The salads are delicious, I especially enjoyed the kale salad which was flavored with a sesame dressing. I didn't notice this time that the sandwiches were served with regular fries, in the past they have been served with sweet potato fries and a yummy chipotle dressing. I'm not sure why the change, but I much prefer the sweet potato fries to the regular fries. There are several locations, so hopefully you can find a veggie Grill close to you, you will not be disappointed.

I've been to this Veggie Grill multiple times now (I've also been to the Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Westwood locations). So far, I've tried Veggie Grill's Buffalo Wings, Santa Fe Chickin' Sandwich, Thai Chickin' Salad, All Hail Kale Salad, Carrot Cake, Chocalate Chip Cookie, and Chocolate Pudding Parfait. I've always been moderately satisfied with my food and drink (I usually get a strawberry lemonade). I highly recommend vegans, vegetarians and non-vegans/vegetarians try the Veggie Grill. For the record: The Sweetheart Fries are delicious, the Southwestern Chili is forgettable.

This place was mediocre at best. I give it three stars for accessibility since parking was easy and free if you stay under 2 hours and I also give it three stars based on the fact that the staff was fast and friendly and there was no line to order. So obviously this is a vegetarian spot with fake meats and we usually love this kind of place. We ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin sandwich and the Grillin Chickin sandwich and split the two in half so we could try both. Both tasted exactly the same, apparently spicy mayo and chipotle ranch are the same to the Veggie Grill. So that was a bummer. They weren't horrible but they were very salty and unfortunately it really tasted like they used the salt to mask the taste of the veggie chickin. We also ordered the Mac n' Cheese which is one of our favorite food groups lol and this was literally so bad we threw it out. Mac n' Cheese is a pretty hard thing to mess up. Really veggie grill... it was disgusting. I've had vegan frozen Mac n' Cheese that's better. YUCK! All in all I think I would go back and try a salad to avoid some of the sodium but that would probably be about all that is good there. Sorry Veggie Grill, you failed to impress.

Very impressed with the taste and price! I got a BBQ burger, it tasted just like chicken and was very juicy. They had a nice outdoor area and we bright out dog and are outside and enjoyed all the people coming up to compliment our dog :) Good place will be back many more times.

In an attempt to eat healthy a friend and I decided to give this place a try. I ended up ordering the all american stack burger with a side of mac n cheese and my friend ordered the baja fiesta salad. My burger tasted great, the flavors blended together, and the grilled veggie steak was very tasty and juicy. I wasnt really too impressed with the mac n cheese. My friend said her salad tasted just "ok". The prices were very fair with the portions they give.

Allow me a moment to cry over the fact that we don't have veggie grill in my home country of Australia :( I really enjoyed this place, so much so that I went back several times on my LA trip. The staff were really friendly, my food arrived faqst and was always tasty, and I enjoyed the different lemonades on offer. I was impressed with the variety on the menu and found that overall this is the sort of place I would grab lunch regularly if I could, but I can't because they don't have it where I am from. So please, enjoy veggie grill on my behalf!

I'm not vegetarian but I absolutely love this place. They have the best fast veggie food in town and I know that every time I'm in a need to a quick lunch or dinner this is the place to go! My favorite dish is the Bombay bowl and it goes great with some mini tacos on the side. I really hope they'll be successful and open up some more locations so more people can enjoy their veggie food.

I always go to veggie grill and love it but this time I ordered from GrubHub and the food was delivered to me SO COLD and inedible. Even microwaving it didn't help because the portobello sandwich ended up being really soggy and awful. I love veggie grill's food and only have a problem with it being delivered in over an hour and stone cold. I assume it's grub hub's problem but there is no way to reach out to them to complain. Either way, if you want to eat here...don't order delivery. I am under 3 miles away and by the time the food reached me I couldn't eat it. :(

What can I say about Veggie Grill. It's really hard to review something that I'm not a big fan of, and that's vegan food. Don't get me wrong, I like boca burgers and morningstar patties, but I've had too many sub-par experiences at places that are all vegan. Normally the food isn't bad, however, it's really hard to grade a meatless burger or chicken meal from the real ones. But I'll give vegan restaurants some credit, they turn soy beans into meat, which I would've never thought was possible, and after many stages of flavoring and "black magic" these restaurants often dish out some edible food. My last visit to Veggie Grill was actually my first, so I made sure not to go to crazy and stick to the basics. I ordered the classic burger (I can't seem to remember what it's called) which came with golden fries. My food came out soon after I found a table and I began to dig in. The golden fries were good, but let's be honest, if you mess up french fries then you're in some serious trouble. Now the burger itself was actually very good, granted I'm judging it based on my vegan scale. The burger was nicely flavored and the meat, which looked more like shredded meat, was not that bad. It had a nice bite to it and somehow my brain was actually tricked into thinking that I was eating a real burger. Mission accomplished, I guess? Anyways, after finishing my meal I was quite surprised that I actually enjoyed it. In conclusion, It will be probable that I pay Veggie Grill another visit, but not at my own discretion. Sorry vegans, once a meat eater always a meat lover. But if my friends are feeling like vegan than you'll know I'll be vouching for Veggie Grill. But I'd say to all those skeptics out there, give it a try, and if it's your first time then definitely consider Veggie Grill a primary candidate. To good eatings.

First time here, but not the last! I was so impressed in every aspect! Food was so creative, delicious, cheap, huge, hot, and fast! I had the grillin chikin. So delicious! Free parking validation too!

ok, first a lil background - I'm from Chicago. meat and potatoes is all we do. and italian beef, and the world's best pizza, and hot dougs (if you're savvvy, you know that wasn't a spelling error =p) when I first moved to LA, I scoffed at vegans and rolled my eyes every time I passed "vegannaise" in whole foods. I worked above a veggie grill for 2 years and refused to step foot inside on principal. when all that eating caught up with me resulting in me having to hold my breath to tie my shoes, I went on a 10 day juice cleanse. when I got off, my system was super clean and extremely sensitive - I couldn't have any meat, dairy, processed foods, etc. I reluctantly went into veggie grill, and was hooked. I ordered the GF power plate and it blew me away! I never had tempeh before, but it had a nice, meaty texture to it, and it held flavor extremely well. the portabella mushroom complimented it, and the mashed avocado and sliced tomato accentuated my kale salad. I remember looking around the restaurant thinking, "why didn't you guys tell me?? I feel like I've been held out on!" I've back to a normal, but balanced diet, and happy to say I've made veggie grill one of my regular spots. p.s. vegannaise? just delightful ;-p

I had a pleasant lunch here today. Parking at the Grove is obviously a nightmare but it's a little easier if you park in the lot designated to the Farmers Market, which include Veggie Grill and also validates, so parking is free for two hours. It has been years since I've eaten here and they've come a long way! I was excited to see so many new and tasty sounding items on the menu. We decided on the all Hail Kale salad as well as harvest bowl. Both were very good. The Hail Kale salad came with quinoa, cabbage, corn salsa and walnuts but I would say it could have used a little bit more of all of those components as it was mostly kale. We added avocado and the avocado was more of a mush than fresh slices, which I didn't love. The harvest bowl was filled with their meatless sausage, super grains, mushrooms and miso gravy. This was more substantial than the salad and I really enjoyed the gravy over the veggies. The sausage (although meatless) had a nice flavor. There are several other things I'd like to try so I'd definitely go back, especially considering the fair price point!

Dear Carnivores, Unless you're trying to appease a vegetarian, there is no reason to eat here. Don't be fooled by the soy faux frankenmeats. The BBQ "steak" sandwich was like cardboard slathered in sauce. The seasonal harvest salad was decent. But really... if you you coo over foods that moo, this isn't going to cut it for you. The carrot cake was not offensive. But again, you aren't going to be like, "Ooh, I have no idea what this amazing vegan frosting with the weird aftertaste is made of, but it's sooooo much better than real cream cheese icing!" They get a third star for the best vegetarian item ever: Mirror Pond.

Hello Corte madera! I've been to veggie grill twice now and I am ecstatic that this restaurant exists in my neighborhood! Definitely eat here, you will not be disappointed. My friends and I have had the grilliin' chicken, buffalo bomber, bliss something and cheeseburger, with Yukon fires, sweet potato fries, cole slaw and chili as side dishes. All of the food is seriously delicious, which dish you like the best is a matter of personal opinion. Omg, all their sandwiches and burgers automatically come on whole wheat buns! And their ketchup and mustard are natural too!! We had carrot cake too, it was good, not too sweet. I wonder if it's made with whole wheat flour as well, that would just be the best. The crispy cauliflower is perfectly!,! I love it. The only complaint I have is that the cole slaw was a bit too sweet and not salty enough, but the currents were a nice touch. Oh, the second complaint is that they don't serve breakfast! If this place had a breakfast menu i imagine that it would just be off the hook with delicious whole wheat waffles and real maple syrup and soy sausages.... Mmmmm. The value is pretty good but 1 entrée and 1/2 of a dessert is definitely not enough to leave feeling full. You will have to order an appetizer or additional side dish to feel totally satisfied.

First of all I love veggie grill so eat there just not at this one. For being such a prime location they really need to get their shit together. Customer service was non existent and food wasn't prepared properly at all. Do yourself a favor and go to a different location.

The Bayou Chickin' burger with yukon gold fries is tasty. The blackened chickin' topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions, avocado and a spicy vegan mayo -- the dish is so flavorful that you forget you're eating some blend of soybeans, wheat, and peas ;).

I admit, I am neither a vegan nor a vegetarian. I am a carnivore. Friends asked me to meet them here and I was apprehensive. I don't eat soy having heard of its negative ramifications to my T levels given my age. So my anticipation was muted at best. But i was surprised, the sweet potato fries, cauliflower mash, Yukon french fries were all spectacular as was the bean chili soup. I had a dish called the power salad which was loaded with flavor and by the meal's end I found myself both satisfied and full. Would this place be on the top of my list of places to go, hardly but as a meeting ground for both you and your vegan friends this place works fine at an inexpensive price

When I came to this Veggie Grill a few weeks ago, this location was my first experience. I loved it! I was timid with trying this place out but it was amazing! I had the "Chikin Tacos" with kale. It was PHENOMENAL. The location was clean, the cashiers had a knowledge of the menu, and I got my food fast. I went to another Veggie Grill a couple weeks later and had the same thing but I would prefer this location at the Grove first. If you are timid about trying Vegan food, Veggie Grill is definitely the place to ease into it. I thought it was great. I hope this review helps you decide on where to have some god Vegan food while enjoying a day or night at The Grove. :)

This place is amazing from the faux chicken to the faux stake to the soup and veggies. Best quick vegan restaurant that isn't funky! I love almost every single item on the menu. Checken wings, Mac and cheese, asparagus soup ( which you would expect to be good but it's out of this world!) great staff as well and the price is so reasonable for a specialty restaurant! Enjoy vegan perfection!

I take credit for the latest interesting additions to the Veggie Grill's menu. I kept complaining about how this place has a few exceptional dishes but not nearly enough purely veg dishes (i.e. not "fake meat"), and finally the managers heeded the customers' wishes and a slew of new, plant-based, dishes were added to the menu. My personal favorite - Bombay Bowl. Now, my only grievance is that they discontinued making their signature Baja Fiesta Salad. I thought it was one of their most popular dishes. In any case for so long as they serve their scrumptious sweet potato fries, it'll be worth a visit.

Edlin R., Marthie D. and James S. talked up Veggie Grill soooo much, I knew I had to go! As luck would have it, Veggie Grill is super close to LACMA. After the museum bf and I stopped by Veggie Grill for dinner. Veggie Grill to me is like fast food vegetarian food. Not necessarily meaning that it is unhealthy, but it reinvents food we would see at fast food restaurants and provides a vegetarian alternative. A great way to introduce veggies to the masses! =) We ordered the crab cake burger with a side of sweet potato fries, buffalo chicken salad and a side of cauliflower mashed potatoes. Crab cake burger was delicious. The outside of the patty was crunchy, the inside tasted more like fish then crab, but I'm ok with that. Good portion size. The sweet potato fries were very good. Fried well and not too oily or sweet from the sugar they sprinkled on top. With the buffalo chicken salad, I should have asked for dressing on the side. Because it was drenched in dressing. The buffalo flavored chicken already has a strong flavor, and then you add the dressing on top...it was too overwhelming. Cauliflower mashed potatoes were good, but I wasn't a fan of the gravy. Too peppery. Tasted like it had ginger too. Again, probably should have asked for it to be on the side. We were confused eating the cauliflower, because it tasted like potatoes! We thought potatoes had to have been mixed in. But it was all cauliflower! Amazing. Also had the strawberry lemonade and organic peach ice tea. So good. Not too sweet. I usually don't order drinks, but I couldn't resist at Veggie Grill. Park at the farmer's market parking lot. Don't park at the Grove. They don't validate the Grove!

Why why why am I stuck in CT for the time being when this amazing establishment is open and serving delicious, healthy vegan food in sunny California? I have had a lot of food here...meaning..I come in very hungry, over order, then box up a lot of food because I'm so full. Customer service is on point. Very clean. Although please check the restroom more often (soap was empty 2 days in a row..love Ms. Meyer's..and clean hands). Review on food...leaving it to the pictures..order..eat..you won't be disappointed whether you're a vegan or omnivore.

I am absolutely in love with this place. I'm so happy to find some American vegan comfort food. They have plenty of healthy options as well. Their menu is very dynamic and changes slightly with the season, but they keep the most popular items. The buffalo bomber is my favorite sandwich. I normally get their kale ceasar salad or their chicken place otherwise. The fried cauliflower is excellent, as are the nachos. Great sandwiches and desserts. Only thing I wish is that they had breakfast!

I'm not a vegan, I love meat, but this place is good. No more no less, just good, nothing to write home about unless u want to write about eating Vegan. The food is good, the place clean, it's not chicken nor a hamburger but it looks like it and taste very similar. It's much healthier than burger fo sho. The food looks good and very fresh so all in all I know I'll find myself here again, I ain't gonna turn vegan and you should too- go check this place.

I'm a Veggie Grill Kinda gal. I love Veggie Grill. I love their All Hail Kale Salad, but I also like some southern kinda food like the Crispy Chick'n Plate (tempeh, mashed cauliflower and some yummy kale with some miso dressing: deeelish!) And you know I love me some Sweet Potato Fries. Customer service here is super perky, which I like and parking is free for 90-120 minutes in their parking lot. Make sure to get it validated son!

I enjoy this place more and more... each time I come I find something new I want to share with someone! In this visit, I brought my mom and uncle because I had the Sonoran Winter Bowl and thought they would love each love their own bowl of the earthy and slightly spicy flavors and filling substance . I had us also share other "bowls" and a Thai with blackened tempeh salad, portobella app. with red pepper dip, carrot cake and a kombucha drink. We devoured everything. They both commented that it was all more delicious than they anticipated. Plus, the staff was kind enough to bring water for my doggie and walk back and forth for parking validation since I was stuck on the inside of the table with a physically challenged family member. I love VEGGIE GRILL! Thanks for making our visit so great :)

First thing's first: I think it's a little misleading to label this place as "$" because an entree and a drink will cost you over $10; getting an appetizer, an entree, and a drink (and a dessert, maybe?) will bring you well above that. It's not super expensive, but it's not someplace I'd drop in everyday and rave about the price, either. That being said... The thing about me is: I love vegetarian food, but I am not a vegetarian. I hate poor quality imitation meat and I'd rather just eat tofu as it is. That being said, I think Veggie Grill makes a pretty good meat alternative that tastes almost authentic. But then again, there's always portobello mushrooms and tempeh. OH, BLACKENED TEMPEH, YOU HAVE WON MY HEART. I've been to Veggie Grill a few times and would recommend you try the following: Bali Bliss Papa's Portobello Sweetheart Fries Anything Kale (JUST LOOK AT THE MILLION REVIEWS FOR THIS!) Urban Plate Lemonade/Tea (try it Arnold Palmer-style!) The reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because there is a certain blandness that is consistent with their side items (red cabbage 'slaw, chili, mac-n-cheese, cauli-mashed potatoes, etc.) that really bothers me. I am just going to stick with kale as a side from now on. Tonight was my first night testing out their new menu items (YAY, FREE BIRTHDAY ENTREE!); we got the Urban Plate and the Crispy Chickin Plate. The sliced tomato salad was SUPER bland, even with salt and pepper; I ended up just mixing it into my kale and that made it far more palatable. Needless to say: loved the kale, loved the portobello/tempeh/onion stack. The fried chickin was just okay; nothing to write home about. My friend picked off the fried part. The cauli-mashed potatoes were decent on their own; the gravy, however, was the winner here--made everything on his plate far more interesting than it was on its own. And of course we washed it all down with fresh lemonade and iced tea. This is one of those places where I don't regret getting a salad or feel guilty about getting a burger. I'll definitely be back to try some more of their menu out.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is delicious and nutritious. The customer service is excellent. My food comes out fast and fresh. And this one right next to Blaze Pizza which is my guy's favorite place. He gets his pizza, I get my Bombay Bowl, and everybody is happy! Also love the cauliflower mashed "potatoes"!

Great lunch spot adjacent to the Grove Shopping Centre. I was meeting up with a friend who's a vegetarian and she suggested this spot, saying it's really delicous and I would love it...me a non-vegetarian. We ordered: All Hail Kale - marinated kale and red cabbage, corn salsa, agave-roasted walnuts, ginger-papaya vinaigrette with blackened Chickin' (11.70) Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' - Fried chickin' , avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cilantro pest, chipotle ranch (8.95) with a side of mac-n-cheese (3.50) Chickin' Nuggets kid's meal - 3 strips of Chickin', side of sweet potato fries, and chocolate pudding...and includes a drink (5.95) My friend was right...everything was great! Even my 2-year-old ate everything off her plate! She didn't even notice it was vegetarian chicken! Her favorite was the gluten-free chocolate pudding and was sad when it was all done. Only negative was the Chickin' was a little dry, but I guess that's to be expected with substitute chicken. After having tried this place, I wish that the only NorCal locations weren't just in San Jose and Mountain View. This franchise would be a HUGE hit in SF...hmm, maybe I should open up a location in the FiDi =)

Buffalo "chickin" wings!! Can I please have some more?? When I was young and in my early 20s, I would order buffalo wings at restaurants over lunch with my much older co-workers on a regular basis and they would tell me, "just wait until you're older, you keep this up you'll be 200 lbs before you know it". I would just laugh and keep licking my fingers that are covered in oh so yummy buffalo sauce. fast forward x years later (not that many.. i'm "young"... kinda), i can no longer have them as much as i like and even just the thought about eating them makes me feel guilty sometimes. And now there's veggie grill with their buffalo chickin wings!! This is the kind of stuff that makes me hate myself for living in the inland empire because we would never have these kind of health conscious food places near us. We stopped by here for lunch on our way to visit a friend in the city and we enjoyed our meal so much that we're determined to bring my vegetarian mother here even if it means I have to drive an hour (or maybe longer, with traffic) with her and my grandma for it. We tried the Kale Salad with Tempeh (I've never had it before and honestly did not enjoy that. It tastes like beans and I don't like beans so I guess I should've known that was gonna happen?). The salad though was so good. I don't think I've ever eaten that much kale in one sitting before. As I was eating it I was worried that I was gonna head straight to the restroom after (C'mon people kale is super fibrous). We also tried the Santa Fe Chickin sandwich and OMG it was amazing. My husband was so reluctant to share it with me like we usually split our food 1/2-1/2. I ended up giving him more than 1/2 because he just looked so sad parting with that sandwich and I was so full from the kale anyway. The decor is a little meh for me. It's "clean" and almost too cafeteria/IKEA feel. On a cold day like the day we visited, the combination of the weather, the decor, and the clean food just made the whole experience so.. "cold" feeling if that makes any sense? Parked right in the front with validation. Can't get any better than that!

Amazing. I'm not even vegan, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meals here. Can the Veggie Grill please open up a franchise in NYC? Please, please, pretty please??? Healthy, clean, and tasty vegan fare for the same price point as ABP, Cosi's, etc? YES PLEASE!

I have been to this veggie grill mostly, but also the Santa Monica and Westwood Veggie Grill, and have NOT been disappointed at any of them. I am not vegetarian, but love healthy food. I have treated several of my big meat-eating friends to Veggie Grill and they have never been disappointed. In fact, one of my friends who is not vegetarian and has a very serious illness, is trying to get healthy but hated other vegetarian dishes that I took her (from other restaurants), but she absolutely LOVES the dishes that I have taken her from Veggie Grill. TRY IT, they have many tasty selections. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their crispy cauliflower appetizer. I make it at home but still trying to get it to take as good as theirs.

  • Joy A.

Hooray for Veggie Grill's menu being extended! I am not a vegetarian or a vegan but I DO LOVE vegetarian and vegan meals too. I grew up with meat-loving family members so for a chain restaurant to get me craving for their food is a big accomplishment =) I dig: - Sante Fe Crispy Chickin' sandwich - Sweetheart fries - Chill out wings - Crispy Chickin' Plate - for when I am craving Southern comfort food: "Fried chickin', cauliflower-mashed potatoes, porcini mushroom gravy with fresh rosemary, steamin' kale" the salad i CRAVE is their All Hail Kale and I get it with crispy chickin' (i used to get it with blackened tempeh until i found out i can get the crispy chickin') my Okay list is: - Uptown Nachos - Bean me up chili - for some reason i don't get it hot enough - All-American stack - I personally don't like the texture of the veggie steak and my Steer Clear list: - the mac and cheese... no.. don't do it. And I have to say, this Veggie Grill has an amazing staff. Very friendly and approachable.

It used to be really good but now it's not :( I had the GF Power Plate. The food was a little burnt, and the kale was steamed for too long (way too soggy). The plate was really small. It was still filling tho. My friend had the pick a pair combo with Thai chickin' salad and corn chowder. She said it was okay and it lacks flavors. It tastes better than it looks. I love Native Foods Cafe a lot better than this place. Prob wouldn't come back again.

I went here to meet up for a business discussion with a friend/client. We ordered a ton of food because, even at my 130 pound frame, I am sure a fatty at heart. My friend wanted drinks(particularly the delicious strawberry lemonade) but our tab was topping out $40 already. The sweet cashier winked and gave us "water cups" to cut the bill by a few dollars. That made the biggest difference, and proved to me that they don't just care about money. We ended up buying more food with the money we saved, so hey, they won either way! Plus, we will be lifelong customers of this restaurant chain and location for as long as they are around. I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chikin Sandwhich, which is probably the best thing on the menu, and it turned out perfectly. No burnt spots, no under-cooked spots, and it was perfectly decorated. I also ordered the harvest bowl, which seems more like a breakfast menu item but it was still really well prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is very clean, the workers are all attentive and helpful, and they validate parking! 5 stars for you VG!

FIVE STARS! Because I loved their service and their food. Yay for Vegan :) I am not really vegan but I like to pretend I am when I step foot into a vegan restaurant... :D One of their sides or entre mentioned chicken and the cashier ensured me that it's not real chicken..lol. Very sweet of him. Sweet potatoes are always my favorite--anywhere really. Their vege burger and salad was yum. Thank you to the guy that helped me during my visit! I didn't get his name but he was really nice! Would definietly come back for lunch :)

The staff is friendly and the food is prepared pretty promptly considering the volume of traffic they get here. Veggie Grill is probably one of the best dining options in the Farmers' Market if you're not a tourist. Their rewards program is kinda awesome too. I was able to redeem a free entree today. So awesome!

I think almost everything at veggie grill is good. The new winter menu is great! There are onion rings (so crispy and a delicious) and French fries. I have tried most of the menu and the only thing I wasn't crazy about is the BBQ tempeh. The grilled cookie is so good! Every experience that I've had at veggie grill has been great. Even when my order is wrong, the staff always goes above and beyond to correct the mistake.

Note: This is a VEGAN restaurant Tried veggie grill for the first time but personally I did not like it... The food did not go well with my taste buds. Price seems pretty pricey. I do believe, if you are looking for something clean and fresh, this place is a good choice. 1 star for the orgainic teas and good service! Ordered: -All hail kale salad with grilled chicken -Bombay bowl with field roast sausage They validate if you parked in the farmers market. (2 hours free) This place is too healthy for me~

Oh my god the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin sandwich was SO AMAZING! The Mac and cheese was a bit bland, but I ate it so that must mean something. The sides didn't really matter to me, because the sandwich was just so good. So good. I think next time I'm going to try the fries or the cauliflower and mushroom mashed potatoes instead of the roasted veggies and mac and cheese.

I went to this place with my friends for the first time. Truthfully I wanted to go to the Pizza place next door because I am not a vegitarian. (not that that matters). We wen't here and I ordered a burger and the corn on the cob. False advertisement because it makes it seem like you will get two and you only get one HOWEVER it was ALL AMAZING. I loved every single bite. I loved the strawberry lemonade also. My friend got mac n cheese. I would never recommend anyone get that if they know what good mac n cheese tastes like but other than that I am a fan and I will definitely be going back!

If I lived closer to the grove, I'd probably make this one of my favorite fast food spots. Their burgers are all pretty great (though I wish it was a tad bit less greasy).

This is one of the best vegan places! I've taken several of my non-vegan and even non-vegetarian friends here and they all loved it and can't get enough of it. Which makes my little personal mission: accomplished. :) If I could, I would eat here every day (twice), but for now I'll be here as often as possible anyway. YUM!!

Just ate here for the 1st time last night after a friend's recommendation. He raved about the All Hale Kale Salad. The Kale Salad was excellent, a 5 of 5. It is one of the best Kale Salads you will have. We topped it off with optional Blackened Chicken which was one of the worst, a 2 of 5. The chicken did not taste or feel like chicken. I even had to ask if this was chicken or a chicken substitute and was told that it was chicken, so something is wrong. They need another chicken vendor maybe. But we would return for the Kale again. Parking is easy and free up to 2 hours with a validation from the restaurant. They have their own lot that they share with a few other restaurants and stores.

My experience at the Veggie Grill was fabulous. I ordered the Veggie Cheeseburger with a side of fries and it was very filling and delicious. I also loved the way the seats are arranged and the environment was comfortable! Definitely coming back to try many of the other healthy dishes!

One of the better places to eat at the Grove. All hail kale with blackened tempeh, kids chicken nuggets with sweet potato fries and pudding and mac n cheese. Always.

Overpriced and bad food. I can't figure out who they're trying to be. It's kind of like Tender Greens, but not as fresh or healthy. It's kind of like Panera Bread only it's focused more on food than cafe feel. The name implies that it's healthy food, but that couldn't be further from the truth. It feels like your high school cafeteria and, honestly, tastes like it too.

Oh yeah! Been twice and both times were great. The second time I was in a total hurry so I didn't even bother looking at the menu and simply had another Cheese Burger on a bed of kale. This time tried the bean chili instead of the plenty tasty slaw. Credit me for SOME variety, ok? The burger is substantial and flavorful, of course it is vegan. I don't need the extra bread-- and unlike, say The Counter, if you want your burger in a bowl, it's the same price. In this case, we're talking kale salad. Flavorful dressing lightly adorned on the notoriously hard to make interesting dark green leafy vegg, this complements the burger well. The slaw is refreshing, too, but if you're extra hungry, or cold, try the chili instead. Got my cheese burger served 'El Dorado' style, which means grilled onions and jalapeños. Yes Please. At lunch, I found they gave me fewer jalapeños than at dinner. Might have no bearing one way or the other. But it's good. Real good. Service was friendly and on top of things. While I waited in line the first time, I placed my laptop bag on a seat while to have a place to go. A crew person came by soon after and started to remove it thinking someone left it behind. I appreciated that. And I appreciated how they offer you a taste of chili if you're curious. All around, can't wait to return. There are so many casual fast food places around here -- some with rumors of serving healthy food. Nice to get to a place that made me feel very happy to have stopped in. PS They passed out samples of the Carrot Cake the first time I came here. Loved it. Not always a CC fan. This was very tasty, just sweet enough.

I don't understand how anyone could rate this anything less than 5 stars... I LOVE meat, BBQs etc. But these so called veggie burgers have an awesome taste and is a great choice for anyone with taste buds.

Cannot say enough wonderful things about Veggie Grill. Quality, service, cuisine, atmosphere, all 5 stars. I'm not a vegetarian and I crave this place. Highly recommend All Hail Kale and Buffalo Mini Wrap. Pick a pair is the way to go if you want to save. Great people. Great business. Great brand. This carnivore is obsessed.

I love healthy food.. This place has good choices. I came here yesterday and enjoyed the food. Low carb and low fat. The only thing is that I felt very thirsty after eating there. Don't know if they put msg or it was just me getting thirsty from other reason.. Will go back there again and see if I get thirsty again, if yes, I will change the review to two stars.

Still good. Still oh so good. Between the two types of Crispy Chickin' Wings, I prefer the Chill Out over the Buffalo (though both are scrumptious) because it's not as heavy. Though you can smell the aroma of the buffalo sauce a mile away, the Chill Out Wings taste crispier, cleaner, and I love dipping it in the BBQ and chipotle ranch sauces that are provided. However, since I've been on a health binge lately, I'll order the Daily Soup + Salad Combo if I'm feeling famished. This comes with a large soup or chili with a half sized salad of either Baja Feista, Chop-Chop Chef, or All Hail Kale. My favorite of the three is definitely Baja Fiesta. All Hail Kale is my least favorite since it tastes like rabbit food to me. Very leafy with a raw zest. Blegh. Also, though the salads are half sized, the portions are still formidable. If you're not in the mood for a burger, the Homestyle Plates are really good. I'm surprised I didn't try these sooner! Both the Blackened Chickin' Plate and the Crispy Chickin' Plate are now some of my favorite things on their menu. The papaya salsa topping with a hint of lemon juice (which you squeeze yourself) on the blackened Chickin' is mouth watering. The Crispy Chickin' Plate comes with cauli-mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy (noms!) and a side of crunchy kale to harmonize all these great flavors. But, psst, let me tell you a secret! The two things I've been ordering the most due to health and budget reasons are a cup of daily soup ($2.95) with a side of quinoa pilaf ($2.25). Yes, I can get full off of this and it only costs me a little over $5! The soup selection changes daily and the quinoa pilaf is simple yet so tasty. I love the texture, in fact I could eat it every day, which I almost do..sadly. Thank goodness, it happens to be extremely good for you. It's embarrassing to admit, but I come to Veggie Grill on a weekly basis. Good thing they validate parking!

This place is pretty good. I don't really like vegan food but this stuff is good. Not a fan of the cauliflower mashed potatoes. But the crispy cauliflower is great. The new corn on the cob is just okay. It lacks flavor and salt.

This place has gone downhill so severely since it launched that after my last visit, I am finally throwing in the towel and selling my remaining gift cards. What distinguished Veggie Grill when it first opened was the extraordinary graciousness of the staff, the level of service, superb quality, reasonable prices, incredibly tasting food. It was superior in every way. It's now superior in no way. Everything has declined in quality. To a certain extent, I have given it slack, because it is unrealistic to expect the level of quality in a start-up, as a company grows and expands. Obviously, it becomes more impersonal. But Veggie Grill has become a death of a thousand cuts. As the chain has expanded, corners are cut, modifications are made, and adjustments to maximize revenue are made. Only those who remember it as it was would remember. One of their better dishes - the Chop Chop salad - featured two kinds of faux meat - carne asada and chicken - with a price tag around $9. Back then, their main dishes were about $9, and had a faux meat protein. Slowly, the proteins disappeared while the price remained fixed. Now, if you want a dish with a protein like grilled chicken, it's $12 instead of $9, because the chicken is an add-on. They figured that we wouldn't notice. Veggie Grill is the airlines of veggie chains - paying more for less. Death by a thousand cuts. The once hand-picked staff is no more. It's much more generic and utilitarian. If you order soup, be prepared to sear your insides. Their answer to seasoning is to make everything fiery. I ordered lentil soup, and it was as hot as spicy chili. I returned it to the manager, saying it was inedible. They feature a new dish, a glazed tofu salad, with eggplant. I should have taken a picture of the eggplant. It was ludicrous. The total weight of the eggplant couldn't have been an ounce. I separated out the tiny shards of eggplant, each piece literally the size of the sim card in my phone. The tofu glazed? Try fried, overcooked and hard. This wasn't the work of a chef carefully cooking tofu - this was tofu in a chain that has been overcooked into submission - vastly inferior and tasting like a fast-food chain, but cost $10. I'll stop there. You get my drift. What once tasted and served like a quality restaurant is now more akin to Olive Garden quality.

The food is good which is why I'm giving it two stars. The Veggie Grill used to be one of the best places around to get quality gluten free meals. Unfortunately, the restaurant has gone in a different direction and is now only "gluten friendly." Menu items such as the GF Power Plate are no longer listed on the menu. They also changed their wonderful chili and added soy to it. It tasted better before soy, and I am one of the many people that miss the old chili. Note to Veggie Grill: Bring the old soy free chili back. And go back to having more gluten free items on the menu. Veggie Grill used to be great, now it's below average.

Oh my god Becky, look at this kale. *chomp* tunechi. Yes, the moment that kale salad touched my tongue, I completely surrendered myself to all the flavors and different textures. From beginning to end, I had the ultimate vegetarian foodgasm. I think I'm in love. This "All Hail Kale" concoction is like a love potion in the form of natural greens. No. It's like sex on a plate except one that you don't have to be ashamed of enjoying in public. Now doesn't that sound extra appealing? I'm kidding. (sort of) Anyways the salad came out to be ~12.00 with the addition of Blackened Chickin' but it was soooo worth it. In fact, the salad was so big that I had to take leftovers back home. And it was still good. YUM! Break down of the salad, courtesy of Veggie Grill's website : marinated kale and red cabbage, corn salsa, agave-roasted walnuts, and ginger-papaya vinaigrette. Flavor break down: The quinoa was well incorporated into the kale, which was surprisingly not bitter. The red cabbage and the fresh taste of the vinaigrette reminded me of an Asian coleslaw which is a bonus. The corn salsa had tomatoes in it as well which gave a nice contrast to the leafy greens. I loved the walnuts just because they were sweet without being overpowering. And that "chicken" -- I was blown away by how chicken-like it tasted. There were very clear grill marks on the strips which gave the dish a savory twist. And all in all, the presentation of the salad was so visually appealing that I had to take at least 3 photos of it before I chomped it down. Service was friendly and efficient, and there was no line because I came right when it opened so yay! You get two hour validation as well so long as you get it validated at the cash register. Will I be coming back? Yes. I will be back to try all the other menu items, and see how many times Veggie Grill can take me over the edge into pure foodie bliss.

I like the veggie grill but don't go there thinking you're getting a healthy meal. The company has finally released nutritional information for their good after years of their customers asking for it. If you compare the pure numbers, calories, carbs, sodium...etc to McDonalds, Veggie Grill is just as bad as the other fast food joints. Do they have better ingredients? Less processed? Who knows. We do know they feature no meat :) But does any of that really matter? The Santa Fe Crispy Chickin sandwich is awesome. The soups are usually pretty great. And I love the sweet potato fries. So while the food might not be better for you than McDonalds, it does taste better. But also at a cost. You can walk away with a full meal from McDs for $5-6 while VG meals can cost upwards of $15.

With apologies to my brother-in-law and his partner, I just didn't like most of the food I tasted. Why do vegetarian restaurants feel they have to try to recreate meat dishes as vegan food? The chickin' is just plain rubbery and flavorless. The beans in the chili were too soft, not toothsome enough. The sweet potato fries on the other hand were pretty good. I did enjoy the steamed kale with miso dressing. There are so many delicious naturally vegetarian recipes, they should offer those, not imitation meats.

Being a vegan is easy when you're at home. Out and about? Not so much. When we discovered this place, it was a savior in terms of fulfilling the need for fast, tasty vegan food. The employees are always friendly and prompt. The menu is varied, although if you're looking for a lot of soy-free options, you're out of luck (go with Papa's Portobello burger). I really wish they'd offer far more rice-based options, but at least they have a lot of delicious salads.

I love this place! The salads are amazing. I particularly like the Baja Fiesta Salad and All Hail Kale. They are fun and flavor. The staff is always nice and helpful. There is always someone walking around checking on customers. The reason I took a star off is because it is a little pricey. After all, it's mostly salad with very little protein. Doesn't quite merit the $12-14 price tag. Also, I hate how you have to put tip BEFORE you get your meal and sit down. That is so awkward and you haven't even had a chance to taste the food or experience the service yet. PLEASE change that.

Veggie Grill gets TEN stars...this location would get ZERO if that was an option. I am vegan. I LOVE the food at Veggie Grill and I usually eat at the one at the Dome in Hollywood, but I've been to the one on Ventura Blvd in the valley, the one at Sunset and Crescent Heights, in Santa Monica, in Westwood, and the one in Torrance and when I'm at the Grove, I reluctantly go to this one. Let me tell you, it is TERRIBLE here. The food tastes like they never change the oil in the friers. The onion rings are over-fried and burnt to a crisp. The Santa Fe Crispy Chicken sandwich has the TINIEST bit of lettuce and the smallest onion slices I have ever seen. The breading is usually missing on half or parts of the chicken because they dump too many in the fryer and they get stuck together, so they just slap them on a bun and serve them as-is. The grilled corn is RAW and hardly comes with any toppings. They've screwed up my order more times than I can count and every time I am at the Grove and really want Veggie Grill, enough time has passed and I forget how terrible it is. Plus, I love Veggie Grill so much, I figure, it can't be that bad...let me tell you...IT IS. They never give me forks, spoons, napkins with take out orders, I always have to ask for a cup of water and then ask for a to-go cup for water while I wait for my take-out order (the other locations offer it to me). The customer service is hit-or-miss and when you bring something to their attention, half the time they can care less. I have to really remind myself to skip the aggravation and just not go here! Seriously! I would hate for this to be your first time at a Veggie Grill and leave not liking what you had, not knowing that it's really not supposed to be like this.

Veggie Grill is awesome! Meatless eats, but you wouldn't even miss it because they fake it so well! The All Hail Kale salad is delicious and super nutritious. The burgers are great too - especially with a side of sweet potato fries. Excellent staff, and parking is validated. Sign up for their mailing list and get a free birthday meal! I thought it was a one-time deal, but they seem to mail out a voucher every year! :)

I really didn't know what to expect from the veggie grill. I decided to try it on meatless Monday with a co - worker. I got the crispy chikin sandwich with a side of cauli-mashed potatoes. Omg, it was so delicious. I could not tell that it was not meat. I have been eagerly waiting for my next trip here to test out another dish.

My first time at a Veggie Grill and it was pretty damn good. I had the pleasure of trying out some buffalo chicken nuggets and regular chicken nuggets and a Santa Fe chicken sandwich .... it looked like chicken, smelled like chicken and tasted like chicken, but it wasn't chicken! I don't know how they do it, are you sure it this place is vegan? Never in my life would I think of going vegetarian...I just love my pork products too much. But if I get to eat at Veggie Grill, then I would have to say, it's doable! Everything here was so delicious (minus the mac and cheese, it didn't taste as good as the real deal). Meals range from $8-12 and it's self seating with an outdoor patio as well. I loved the bright colors on the wall and everyone who worked there are all so nice and friendly! I would definitely come back to try other menu items! And I am definitely in love with the buffalo chicken nuggets! So good. I can't believe it's not chicken!

Delicious! I got the GF (Gluten Free) Power Plate and the Grilled Cookie dessert. I would recommend the GF Power Plate to the health-conscious vegetarian who doesn't want a burger or sandwich and is looking for variety in a meal. The power plate comes with a portobello mushroom on top of a vegetarian mash, tomatoes w/ guacamole, kale salad, and awesome sauces - chipotle with a spice kick and dressing for the salad. Everything in the power plate complemented each other and my taste buds were dancing with joy! The Grilled Cookie dessert wasn't too crazy sweet, which I find a good thing. It came with chocolate pudding, chocolate sauce, and this white creme. I had never had a grilled cookie before (just a baked one at BJ's), but I love the taste of the grilled cookie - ever so slightly burned yet still chewy at the same time. Oh and the servers are really customer-service friendly at this location!

Veggie Grill is delicious. Believe it! I am a pescaterian, but rarely eat at any vegetarian places because my boyfriend is a meat eater. I have been wanting to try Veggie Grill for a long time, so last night when we couldn't figure out what to eat I was able to get my boyfriend to agree to go here. I must say, not only was he impressed by the food, but i was! The buffalo "wings" are amazing--closest things I've had to real wings since I stopped eating them 7 years ago, I can't wait to get them again! We also split the vegetarian chili-- very tasty and hearty, with a little kick, and the All Hail Caesar salad--very good, but the bacon was just okay, didn't really fit in the salad. I can't wait to come back and try more!!!

First time trying the Santa Fe "Chickin" sandwich and it was delicious! I added some jalapenos for some extra zest! I went to the one at the Dome in Hollywood. Ordered on line for my family and I. It was a great treat. No line. Nothing to pay upon arrival. Food was warm. Just perfect!

Got the Santa Fe chicken sandwich and was really underwhelmed...although I don't know what I was expecting. The patty felt like a frozen store bought patty. Teaspoon of avocado, come on guys. Seriously this felt like McDonalds but vegan. I don't think I ordered the right things. Meanwhile Blaze pizza looked amazing and I was kicking myself for not going there.

Fake chicken. Who knew that it could taste so effing good? It's even better than REAL chicken! OK maybe not, but I will say it's in a category of it's own, and my what a delicious category that is. I haven't tried anything on the menu except for the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' sandwich w/ Avocado..and chili on the side. It tastes 10x better than the crispy chicken sandwiches you find at Carls Jr and McDonalds. Their tables are clean, their employees are polite, and their overall service is superb. I'm sure everything else on their menu is delicious as well, but I just don't know if I could push myself to try anything but my yummy sandwich. It's THAT good. If you disagree there must be something wrong w/ your taste buds. With this in mind I'd highly suggest consulting your doctor and getting this checked immediately. J/k, but really though.. it's awesome. Congratulations, Veggie Grill, as you have just landed yourself a loyal customer 4 LIFE, son!

I truly value this place, I'm trying to eat healthier. The All-American Stack is a great burger with the meat substitute. I had that with a side salad full of quinoa and diced tomatoes. They also offer ice cold ginger beer and Fat Tire brews. Validated parking for the Farmer's Market section, a wonderful location.

Normally I hate giving two restaurants in a chain a review. Unless the quality of the two locations largely differ from one another. In this case I will break my rule, because I love this restaurant chain so much. The food was once again FANTASTIC, it was seasoned well, the pricing is great, the service was awesome. I can't really find anything to fault in the restaurant, other than the fact that their sides tend to be a little bland. I had the Quinoa (pronounced Keen-waaah!) Pilaf and it wasn't really seasoned, but then again it's Quinoa so what can you really expect? The Macaroni also tends to be pretty uninspired though, not cheese tasting enough, I get the impression the might use a powder. Other than those few small things I really love this chain, this place is a little closer to where I live and I would totally go back here in the future! I am looking forward to it!

I'm a big fan of Veggie Grill. I'm always at the one in El Segundo. I got a chance to try out the new Veggie Grill that opened up at The Grove. This Veggie Grill is a bit smaller than the one in El Segundo. . . however the quality of food is still the same. There were even some of the same employees! If you haven't been here, try their santa fe crispy chickin or the all hale kale salad. both are good. Get a side of their sweetheart fries. You won't be disappointed. Top that off with their delicious carrot cake and you're set! For extra credit points: Get one of their chocolate chip cookies to go. They are yummy!

O, this place is OK. Right by the farmer's market parking lot. Came here on a whim because we couldn't find anything we wanted at the farmer's market. We got the "All hail kale," it was good but not amazing. I really liked the black chicken. That's probably the best part of it. Wished the kale was just plain lettuce instead.

I copied Michelle T and signed up for the free birthday meal. My birthday passed..........no free meal from Veggie Grill...... Then one day I found a postcard in the mail from Veggie Grill for a free meal. Ordered all kale salad with tempe, crab cake sandwich, sweet potato fries and lemonade. All kale salad with tempe ($8.45 plus $2.75): I love tempe and I know my tempe. Honestly the tempe here didn't look like typical tempe. It's probably yuck...I thought. It was very good. I got tired of chewing like a bunny but I liked this dish. Crab cake sandwich ($8.95): I was surprised @ how creamy and yummy this dish was. You could blindfold me and I probably would believe you if you said that was real crab cake. Sweet potato fries: the fries were sweet, crispy and not greasy. Lemonade: it was okay but it helped me quench my thirst. No wonder my friends like Veggie Grill. This place is great even for carnivore like me. 4 stars!! The only other veggie restaurant I like is a Chinese vegetarian place called Happy Family. Veggie Grill is yummylicious!!

After my low review on yelp, the manager contacted me and apologized for my dis satisfactory on the outcome of my order. I was glad he tried to reach out to make my experience a more better welcome. I was given a free meal for me and a friend with a complimentary desert as well. Now when I go they never burn the chicken or tempeh, especially because now I just order beforehand not to burn it. I was real glad that with the service and will mostly likely go there everytime I'm around the grove. When I was given the free desert, the cashier suggested the carrot cake, saying it was real popular so how can I turn down a free desert, especially carrot cake. OMG I now have discovered my new true love. The carrot cake is so light, ,moist, and perfectly sweetened. Carrot cake can be heavy and so overly sweet, but wow this one was just right! Even the frosting was light and well balanced. Perfect to pair with tea or coffee. I LOVE you carrot cake!

I was a vegetarian for a couple months and my girlfriend kept telling me that veggie grill tasted like dirt and was nasty. I believed her for a while, but I decided to try this pale for myself and give it my own opinion. To put it bluntly the food and service is amazing. I'm not a big fan of the sweet potato dries, but I would go back again (I'm no longer a vegetarian) and order more of their delicious food items

I have a love-hate relationship with Veggie Grill. I used to come here around once a week and happily chow down. I love their menu and everything is so tasty. I thought it was all really healthy and doing my body good. Not exactly. Take a look at their nutritional guide. EVERYTHING on the menu is SKY ROCKETING with sodium!! Like THOUSANDS of mg's. I feel the onset hypertension when I eat here now. Knowing what I know now, I don't eat here very often anymore. If you do a little research you can find legit vegan places that are more bean/lentil/veggie based. Veggie Grill mostly uses soy products. Not a bad thing every once in a while, but you don't wanna overdo your soy intake. So my suggestion is, don't make Veggie Grill your go to place, rather let it be a once in a while treat. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

So I'll start by saying, I am in no way a vegan or vegetarian. I an however, open to explore options. I ordered the friend chicken with kale salad and the cauliflower mashed potatoes. The chicken was ok. It was as good as it could be considering it isn't real meat. It's not a bad flavor, but a flavor that someone who still eats real chicken, must get use to. The gravy on top of the chicken was awesome. The kale salad..... Well, the kale it's self was perfectly textured. The ginger sauce that topped the kale salad, YUCK. It tasted super creepy, like I don't even know how to explain that creepy taste. Never again. The cauliflower mashed potatoes were super good, no complaints there at all. The service was good. I liked that they don't offer soft drinks, it makes it easier for me to make good choices. Over all, it was pretty good, I will just never get the kale salad with the ginger sauce ever again.

Service was really great, very friendly cashiers and such. Very clean and nice inside. I got the buffalo mini wrap and really enjoyed it. Pretty good kick and nice balance with the ranch dressing. Decent sized portion for being a mini anything also. The sweet potato fries were only okay, I prefer the ones at Native Foods (I love me some sweet potato fries). There was something about the topping on them that tasted real funky to me. The strawberry lemonade is pretty good but for whatever reason, I prefer Native Foods' lemonades too. May have sampled a chocolate chip cookie which was very tasty. Chewy in the middle and crunchier on the outside! Very happy to have this place at The Grove! Isn't my first go-to but a solid option.

Free Birthday Meal for dude! Dude doesn't like veggies (i have to hide them in bacon), so he's never thrilled when i mention Veggie Grill, but since we had the voucher again, he agreed to eat it again, esp after i mentioned they have a new menu! He got the Crabcakes sammie and we have to say it was pretty darn good for being fake crab. Whatever it was, it had the texture of crab and tasted good- went well with the pickles and the wheat bread. He even got a side of their yummy sweet potato fries with delicious dipping sauce- with no extra cost. The only complaint is their bread they use in their burgers and sandwiches always seems to fall apart on me. Try the crabcake sandwich! I hear good things about the Buffalo Bomber too. *they validate for Farmers Market parking only- not the Grove parking structure

Simply the best vegan chicken and meat on the planet. Nachos with Vegan cheese- amazing Crab cake sandwich is Vegan too and was blown away at how I couldn't tell the difference Steak taco in $1 add a Taco Tuesday awesome If you doubt it will taste like the real deal, just have faith. I've tried half the menu and have never been dissapointed.

I have been eating at Veggie Grill since they opened in Irvine. As a Vegan I am so delighted with their staff at all locations. Especially John in the Arclight complex. I eat at Veggie Grill usual minimum of once a week. Correction though it is vegan not vegetarian . They are expanding and people will learn to eat plant based food that taste good and is healthy. Brava

The food is solid here. Always consistent. I am always always always happy with my order. Last time I was here, I ordered the Carne Asada Burger and that was delicious. The imitated beef was tasty. The mayo used completes the meal. Yes the texture is different and obliviously one will know it is intimidated meat, but it is definitely as good as fake meat gets. I ordered the side of chili and that was tasty too. Very beany.

I love their all hail kale salad. I've ordered this every time. I wish they had more options without fake meat cause not all vegetarians are into that. I also recommended their oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. The service is very fast and friendly.

I usually go for greasy and FATTY food. Extra butter, red & dark meat, whipped cream, and tons of sugar rule my world. Therefore, I didn't think veggie grill would satisfy my taste buds. Well, to my surprise, I REALLY enjoyed my lunch (B-wing salad) at veggie grill today. Even the cold left over is tasty. The texture of Buffalo wings is very similar to real meaty ones and the spicy sauce was my type- it can be a little too strong for people who are not used to spicy food. I am Korean. It was spicy for me. Also, there was copious amount of avocado-HUGE PLUS. I will definitely come back and try other dishes!! The service was great. Even though Veggie Grill is more like a fast food restaurant, the servers bring out the food to your table. Food comes out really quick- 5-7 min? Clean and well-organized. The overall experience was pleasant. I don't know about other locations. But this location (Grove) was good for people watching and once you are done eating, you can walk around to help digestion. Lovely.

Guys. GUYS! The new menu is SO GOOD, have you tried it?! I could eat a Buffalo Bomber every day and never get sick of it. The crab cake sandwich takes me back to the Eastern Shore on a hot August afternoon. The VG Rollers are the perfect lunch when you feel more like snacking. The B-Wing Salad puts all of my favorite things on a plate and says, "EAT ME." All this on top of their already excellent, affordable menu, and I'm basically here every time I don't feel like cooking. Which is to say, this Veggie Grill is now my #1 go-to for quick, delicious, awesome food. They love me, I love them, and it's just love, love, love all the time. My favorites outside of those already mentioned in my previous review: nachos, Sweetheart fries, Chickin' Caesar wrap, blackened Bali Bliss wrap, All Hail Kale, Santa Fe Crispy Chickin', 2/3 lemonade 1/3 strawberry lemonade. I stick with the chickin' and tempeh, they never fail me.

You will never even notice the lack of meat eating here. Everything Ive had has been amazing. The fake Chick'in, soooooo good. I would never even know the difference. Sweet potato fries and chipolte dip is a must.

  • Marissa B.

Went here for the first time 5/17 for lunch with my mom and boyfriend. I ordered the kids chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries, pudding, and lemonade, while my mom ordered VG rollers. It was OK, nothing impressive, but I like how there is a lot of selection from salad to crabcakes. I shall return and try the other things on the menu. I would return here only to try the other items and the fact that the food is vegan.

Oh. Mah. Gawd. I died and went to vegetarian heaven. Ever since I found out about their kale salad I've had a hankering and now that I've had it, I want more! The all hail kale salad with blackened chikin is seriously so good. My brother ordered the chikin tacos and said it was just okay. I tried it and thought it was pretty good. I took a carne asada sandwich with a side of chili home for my vegetarian husband and he thought thAt was just okay too. I thought it was really really good. He did really like the uptown nachos. I think it's safe to say that the "meat" products are kind of an acquired taste as the texture is a lot different from real meat, but with the right seasonings and/or sauces they provide, it tastes damn good in my opinion! I can't wait to eat here again an to try something different!

I LOVE salads but Veggie Grill has taken it to a whole new level! The All Hail Kale salad will have at your knees and bow down to this delicious salad. All the gorgeous colors of the veggies will give a feast for you eyes as well! The salad comes with kale, corn salsa, red cabbage, agave roasted walnuts all tossed in a ginger papaya vinaigrette! I would suggest adding the blackened chickin' or tempeh for an extra $2.75 to make your meal more hearty. I also tried the Thai Chickin' salad. It takes exactly or even better than those Asian salads served anywhere else. But I wouldn't recommend it, not because it doesn't taste good, but you could find a similar salad pretty much anywhere else. But I highly recommend trying their teas! They aren't too sweet and their great with your meal. I can't wait to come back and try their Papa's Portobello burger. Sounds delicious!

Was in the Grove area on business this week, I eat lunch here I had buffalo chicken wings with spicy sauce, celery sticks w/ ranch dressing, with side order of sweet potatoes fries's food was so Delicious service was great, and the staff were friendly, they even came by table to check on me,there is a patio with overhead heaters, I got the rest of my fries to go they brought me a small container that was wax coated inside easy to get your food out and the container will not get all soggy, this place really nice inside, make sure you get your ticket validated cause if you don't its 8.00 for one hour you should have seen me trying maneuver around vehs.to get back inside to get my ticket validated.

I'm a new vegetarian and have been trying a lot of different vegetarian places to eat. I came to the Veggie Grill with my mom before and tried the All Hail Kale salad and portobello burger. Both are equally delicious! On my recent visit, I got the Santa Fe Chikn Sandwich which was tasty. I'm new to faux meats and this tasted just like chicken. The sauce and toppings were so fresh which made me feel better about giving up meat. I've since moved out of LA in preparation to moving across the country but I hope I can find something similar in the Big Apple!

Yet another review for Veggie Grill, but what can I say, I love this place! I've been attempting to eat healthy lately so this time I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' Sandwich, kale-style (minus the bun, add a bed of kale). My cashier also suggested that I get the Chickin' tossed with buffalo sauce so I took his advice, and ended up loving it! The spiciness definitely added a nice little kick to my meal. Okay, so my "sandwich" actually ended up being more like a salad than anything... but I guess that was basically what I was going for. (They do have actual salads btw, which I plan on trying another time.) All the sandwiches also come with a side and you can choose between the Red Cabbage Slaw or the Chili. I chose the slaw because I had the chili last time and didn't really like it, but the slaw was nothing special either. You also have the option to pay a few extra dollars to swap for other sides, such as the sweetheart fries, kale salad, etc. Minus one star for the parking. There's a parking lot for all the restaurants, however it's only free for the first 2 hours if you make a purchase and get your ticket validated at the Farmer's Market. Otherwise it's $6, even if you only come here to eat for an hour or so. Such a hassle!

Food: Amazing You can't leave without trying the buffalo chicken strip wing things. Customer Service: Great Some of the nicest and most attractive people work here. Prices: Eh. I know its the Farmer's Market and I know it's Vegetarian, but I really hope these prices go down. Its a treat to eat here once a week and I'd like to bump that up to more visits if the prices had specials.

I ordered the vg-cheeseburger and a side of cauliflower mashed potatoes and of course the carrot cake. the cheeseburger was good, i honestly couldn't tell the difference between this vegan burger and a real cheeseburger. that being said, i prefer actual veggie patties over faux meats seasoned like burger meat. otherwise, it was still a good burger. The mash, I really couldn't get enough of...definitely couldn't tell it was cauliflower and the carrot cake was amaze-balls. Next time I am going to try the wings, crab cake and kale. location wise, this one is better as opposed to the 8000 sunset location. the parking is just easier to figure out. they have a garage below and validate.

i went on detox so I'm only eating healthy veggie stuff. This place pretty much has food that has all the typical feel of a meaty burger but using veggie ingredients. And they actually do a very good job of doing that because you don't even feel like you're eating veggie stuff. I got the American stack and just felt like it was a good meaty hamburger at a regular diner. Doesn't taste weird or anything. Good place for vegetarians to come and have a meal that doesn't feel like vegetarian meal.

Vegetarian done fast food. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, but this place was surprisingly good. I had the Buffalo "chicken" sandwich and it was pretty freaking good. The fake chicken patties remind me of frozen fried chicken patties that I would have as a child. Not sure if that is bad or good, but it tasted good. Price is a little high, but in the neighborhood and the style of food, it's understandable.

I rolled my eyes about going to this place for a while because my ex-boyfriend, Fake Vegan favored it so. So many vegetarians/vegans will lay credibility on a place just for the fact that it is a no meat establishment, but that doesn't mean that its good. I thought that this might be that kind of place. I was picturing a grilled onions and peppers in a wrap. Don't get me wrong, I don't eat much meat and am not against a vegetarian life style. I was just getting a little exhausted from going out of my way to make Fake Vegan all of this vegan food only to hear that he would stop by Burger King and eat 2 Original Crispy sandwiches on his way home from the airport. And its not that I didn't think he shouldn't be eating some animal protein. Just the opposite in fact. The last time I saw him he was quite frail and seemed to be having hormone imbalances. I am not a nutritionist, I run an entertainment agency, but I do have access to the internet. I queried soy-men-hormones and found a lot of stuff that supported my intuition that this guy needed some more balance in his life. Unfortunately bringing that up to him went over like a lead balloon. So note to single girls, if you are dating a man in his 50"s never use the words "Concerned about your estrogen intake." Probably part of why I am his ex-girlfriend. So as you can imagine my reluctance to eat here. But this place is FABULOUS. It's cute and a great place to bring small children. The crowd is varied. The food is OVER THE MOON. I like just about everything on the menu especially the the Santa Fe fake chicken sandwich. It's better than the real thing. There is so many good things on the menu that I order more than I can eat. I totally recommend this place for even those who eat meat regularly. I don't know when I'll be back again because I live in Dallas but if I am ever near The Grove again I will stop by.

Stopped in here for the Mac n cheese as just a snack. It was decent. The tatse of the cheese was authentic, not that processed cheese tatste you get with from some of the other places. My only complaint was that the sauce wasn't thick enough. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't watery but I like my mac n cheese sauce creamy. I would still rfecommend you stop in and try it for yourself.

Taste like Chicken! I am NOT a big vegan person but I like this place. My cousin got me hooked on this place. Believe it or not, there is no meat but taste like it. Try the wings -- you'll swear it's chicken. Love the burgers, they are made from soy (don't let that word scare you). If you love carrot cake, you've got to try it here. The biggest downside is the price, it can get a little pricey for two people. So bring a credit card or make your girlfried chip in. Enjoy my friends.

Whenever I meet someone that is skeptical about a vegan lifestyle, I talk about Veggie Grill. The Buffalo Wings and V-Burger will pretty much change your life. I want to eat from here ALL the time and I my Pescetarian boyfriend is always down and nice about it. I fall in love with him a little bit more every time we go. The only thing is that I always end up needing way more napkins than I immediately have access to. But that's probably more my fault. Shout out to My Bebe.

I've had two fantastic experiences at this Veggie Grill location. I was just checking out some of the Yelp reviews, and after coming across the review posted that the cashier Erick was rude, I had to sign up for Yelp and post how I had quite the opposite experience with Erik and that this young man should be commended! I'm a picky eater with a strict diet so I'm "that guy" who will have to ask twenty questions to the server or cashier upon my first visit to a restaurant. Usually people loose patience with me or give false info resulting in me getting sick after eating at the establishment. Erick greeted me with a welcoming smile, and enthusiastically answered all of my questions I had about the menu and ingredient details. I apologized a few times for all the questions, but he said "this is what he's here for, and and happy to make my experience a good one." I was impressed, but I'm used to people loosing patience with me! I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal, and Erick did make great recommendations! It's rare to find an establishment that has SEVERAL items my diet allows, and the staff provides phenomenal customer service! I live closer to the Veggie Grill on Sunset in Hollywood, but went out of my way to visit this same location a few weeks later because of Erick. This time he didn't take my order, but I did see him on the floor and he did recognize me. I look forward to long and happy dinning relationship at this place. Promote this man!

I'm a meat eater so coming to the veggie grill really isn't my number 1 choice but since my friend was having a charity event I felt I had to come. I had the buffalo bomber and I'm surprised to say it was really good. I kind of don't believe there's no meat in there. It truly tasted like a buffalo chicken sandwich. The side of chili was also really good. The best part was after the meal I honestly felt like I had a healthy meal....not sure if I can really say that since I don't know the nutritional facts but in my head I had a healthy meal. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

I'm on the fence with Veggie Grill. Pros: It's vegetarian, the sweet potato fries are delicious, I do love the Santa Fe Chikin. Cons: Expensive, Food made of soy protein isolate (which is highly processed). I would prefer if they used more black beans and lentils. Suggestion: Get the Tempeh if you really want to be healthy. And for the woman who says that guys who eat at veggie grill are not men. I suppose if a prerequisite for being a man is for developing a gut and coronary disease like most "red blooded" American men, then you are correct. And id love to take you to a slaughter house next time you are free.

The food and service here is absolutely amazing! The employees are so friendly and willing to explain the menu (for a non-vegan, that was very helpful) and provide awesome advice about what to get! I chose the All Hail Kale salad and Mini Buffalo Wrap and then the chocolate chip cookie for dessert - all were so delicious! Looking forward to my next visit to Veggie Grill!

The mac and cheese must have so much oil in it because it seriously taste like the real deal. Amazing. The vegan cookies are extremely sweet. I had the vegan cheeseburger. So good. Anything with there special oily vegan cheese is amazing. I cant seem to find the recipe for there cheese online, it remains a mystery.

I'm not vegan and this place makes me want to become a vegan and only eat their food. I recommend the Santa Fe chikin sandwich with sweet potato fries and well everything else in the menu. Don't be afraid to try this restaurant if you're not a vegan/vegetarian. I guarantee you'll love it.

Ordered the chicken tacos after a recommendation from the cashier; mistake! He said the side was an avocado salad, but what I got was some watered down "guacamole" on top of a palm-size bed of lettuce with jalepanos on top. There needed to be salsa or something on the tacos. They were bad. When the server came to bring me my food, he just dropped it off without any silverware or napkins. My two stars are for the amazing pomegranate iced tea.

I'm removing my previous rant about the change to the Kale Salad...they've re-worked it and it's great again! :) :) :) I also want to give them props for their new menu items. TACOS!!!! I tried the "fish" tacos yesterday and they were wonderful. I normally prefer crunchy tacos to soft, but their white corn tortillas are excellent. I think they put them on the grill for a moment as they were nice and warm with a subtle crispness out the outside. I also tried the new Kale Caesar salad w/ tempeh bacon....another great addition.

We like the Veggie Grill for good, casual vegan food. Even my non vegan family enjoys eating here. I had the harvest bowl today. Everything was good except the undercooked veges. Also I hate onions so I asked for no onions. The cashier said it was already mixed into the veges so he gave it to me on the side and took those large red onions out. If they can cook the veges properly it would be a great bowl. I like the strawberry lemonade.

Meh. I've experienced better...service. Maybe it's the location but even the people working at the counter wear a little snooty you might say? I could expect this from customers and maybe it's because of the area too. But I'll stick to the El Segundo one where service is great and people actually come around and ask you how things are going. What made it even worse was paying the at the kiosk. After 2 hours, it was a parking bill of $14. I thought the first 2 hours was free? Nah, it's ONLY FREE if you shop at the Farmer's market. Last time I'm coming around this place. I suppose the traffic is enough to keep me out any way.

Seriously, there is a reason why this chain is so successful. Combine good 'ol organic vegan food with tasty sauce-y-ness? Dish (& its star ratings): - All Hail Kale w/ "chickin" (4): Kale salad with corn salsa, agave-walnuts and ginger-papaya vinaigrette. Good stuff and I don't even like papaya. - Papa's Portobello (4.5): Got this in a wrap. OMG juicy goodness. That pesto + chipotle-ranch sauce kills me. In a good way. - Grillin' Chickin' (4): Also got this in a wrap. No complaints! - Sweetheart fries (3.5): Ehh, fries are fries. Not soggy. Great with the ranch dip. When: - Countless times Crowd: - Mixed. Families, groups of friends, couples, etc. Interiors: - Simple wooden tables, steel-frame chairs. Service: - N/A = self-serve. Overall: - Would like to try everything on the menu once, if I wasn't such a creature of habit.

I love love love love Veggie Grill. The Santa Fe Crispy Chicken Sandwich is my favorite item that I've had off the menu. I also love their carrot cake. This location is pretty chill. Great service. There is this awesome guy that works there named Mahdroo. I think Mahdroo is what makes this location better than the other ones.

We often stop by this place because of their vegan selection. The beef and chicken are right on the money, you feel like its actually chicken or beef you're having; but the char broiled meals have a bit too much taste of char and I'm not fan of that. My kids pass on the Mac n cheese too, not good I tasted it. Also the pudding sucks as well. However, a healthy alternative to a greasy cheese burger. They could add a few more options for kids.

A friend of mine had to eat vegetarian food for a while, so when I took her out for the day, I took her to this place. This was totally not what I expected. I ordered "chicken wings," and they sure tasted like chicken wings. This was amazing! My friend felt bad because she thought she was eating real chicken. We even ended up asking the cashier what exactly we were eating because we were astonished. Definitely good memories coming here.

After reading all the reviews here I tried it out for myself. it was pretty good!! I had the crispy chicken sandwich. The fries are awesome and the service was great. Does kale salad for lunch sound like a delicious idea? Not to most people. But the all hail kale salad at Veggie grill is not your ordinary kale salad. It is full of well balanced flavors and has a delicious dressing. I have mine with their "chicken" and I wasnt able to finish this filling meal due to its size. The salad is not cheap by any means (will run you about 11-12 dollars) but it will keep you full most of the day. I also had the sweet potato fries and the cajun sandwich and I have no complaints. The service at veggie grill is impeccable and I enjoy coming here as often as I can.

I tried Veggie Grill for the first time at that 8000 Sunset mall off of Sunset/Crescent Heights before ripping open my snap-button shirt and participating in a flash mob in the courtyard. And yes, to answer your question, I butchered the first minute of choreography due to stage fright. But it was still glorious. It made people happy! Well, except that one annoyed guy who pushed my dancing ass aside as he was trying to get by. Anyway, at that point in my life, I was so put-off by vegan food that I only tasted small amounts of what other people were eating. Oh, those crazy vegans. But lemme tell you, those small tastings made a BIG impression. Since then, I've had Veggie Grill a handful of times, and I was especially excited to realize that one exists even closer to me at The Grove. Perfect for after my runs in Pan Pacific Park! I'm as terrified to try vegan beef/steak substitutes as I am to touch a skinny baby, so I've only tried their vegan chicken (chickin') substitutes, including the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin', Grillin' Chickin', and Bayou Chickin' sandwiches. Those alone keep me comin' back. The flavors are all there, the textures are all there, they're simply fantastic without makin' me feel heavy or succumb to food coma. It's amazin' how close they feel and taste to real chicken. Next time I go, I'm gettin' the Papa's Portabello sandwich then I'll venture into the world of veggie-steaks. Oh, and didn't anyone tell you? Puttin' "g's" at the end of words is so 2009. Also, I'm somewhat of a tight-wad (THANKS MOM), so I always get the side of chili which comes free (you can also get red cabbage slaw for free), but maybe next time I'll get one of the sides you have to pay extra for, specifically the mac n' cheese, and then maybe the kale. Overall, it's still a pretty reasonable $10-11 meal with good portions! If you're a dessert-addict (this is a real addiction people, stop ridiculing me, you a-holes, I actually go into withdrawal/fetal position!), you won't be disappointed if you try their vegan carrot cake. It's fantastic! Oh, and look down! See those stale-looking cookies that you would never touch under the cash register? They're not stale at all. They're pretty tasty and chewy, just how you like them. I'll leave you with these 2 notes: 1) That crazy vegan food you see those crazy LA-type people eating snobbily, can actually be FANTASTICALLY DELICIOUS, and 2) Kale is the new spinach. Deal with it.

I've been a HUGE fan of The Veggie Grill for years now, since they first opened in Irvine many years ago. This location is their latest venture and is situated at Farmers Market on the opposite side of the one attached to The Grove -- so it's on the Maggiano side. The menu is the same -- which means it is always delicious -- and they have now added buffalo chicken to the menu. My friends and I chomped on the buffalo chicken and those who never tried TVG before were all pleasantly surprised that this was a non-meat product. My favorites are the Kale Salad, Santa Fe Chickin sammie, nachos, steamed kale, and if you ever wanted to low-carb a sandwich, you can always have it over a bed of kale. My son is addicted to the chipotle dressing they give you with the sweet potato fries and I am obsessed with the tomatillo sauce they have which I put on absolutely EVERYTHING. I dip the sweet potato fries into it, I douse my nachos with it, absolutely EVERYTHING tastes even better with the tomatillo sauce. I am not a vegetarian by any means but I love TVG. When something tastes so delicious you don't even think about the fact that it's missing meat because honestly, good tasting food is good tasting food regardless of what it is. Enough said -- if you haven't tried the Veggie Grill yet, just DO IT. I have nothing but good things to say about TVG and after being a loyal customer for the last few years I can truly say if they keep it the way it's been going, I will be a life-long supporter! Absolutely DELISH!

This is a review from our 4-year-old: Everything, I mean everything, is bland. I don't like the mac and cheese - it was bland. I like baked mac and cheese. This just had cheese poured over it. The seitan was terrible. My momo makes much better seitan. The mangoes in the salad were disgusting. The sweet potato fries were yum yum yummy. The chocolate pudding too. Next time we see this place we will run away. My review: Eh. Baja Fresh with fake meat. I'm veggie, but for these prices, I could do better with veggie burgers or salads at regular meat dives.

I always enjoy my dishes here. And feel better than I'm eating vegetarian every once in a while. I like the blackened chicken sandwich (really tastes almost like chicken!) It always takes me a long time to pick out something from the menu, but coworkers always enjoy their meals, esp kale salad, wings, and mac and cheese.

My partner is vegan and was visitng me this weekend. I took him to a ton of places to eat over the trip, but he said he had never had a burger this good before! It was delicious. Even as a non-vegan, I LOVED the buffalo wings. They were incredible. The sauce was perfect. One of my favorite foods ever is Gumbo (which is the soup of the day on Sundays) and it was startlingly amazing, even without meat. :) I would recommend this place, and the mixed-matched pair that we are will definitely be coming here again.

I love meat. I love burgers, kabobs, hot dogs, chicken, bacon... you get my point. This place is by my work and some co workers wanted to try it out so I thought I'd give it a shot. Sooooo thankful I did! This place is really great. The vibe in the place is cool and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. But how is the food you ask? Delicious. I don't know how they make their fake chicken but damn it, it's fantastic! The only thing I didn't like was the mac and cheese because of the vegan cheese. Cheese is one thing you just cant fake. But everything else I have tried here has been amazing. Pro Tip: Santa Fe Crispy Chickin', as a wrap, buffalo style

Not a bad place for people who want to try healthy food. Price is good. I went there with my sister and got some salad with tofu. It wasn't bad at all. try!!!

I've tried meat alternatives before, but I didn't like them because the consistency and taste didn't resemble meat at all. Thankfully, Veggie Grill's "chicken" closely resembles the real thing. Their sweet potato fries with special sauce are yummy too, and they have really good flavored iced teas. This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever been to, not only because of its delicious food and drinks but because it's easy to get to, has free parking, and has really friendly and helpful employees.

I can't believe i am JUST getting to this vegetarian fast casual joint! LOVED IT! Can't wait to make my way through the menu. Liked their signature "burger"... I added avocado & grilled onions. YUM. LOVED the side salad... which was quinoa amazing-ness. Yep.

Great place for a seasoned vegan, new vegan, or a carnivore who just wants to take a break. Everything here is amazing. My favorite are the buffalo wings! Omg!! so good and so close to the real thing. Also, if you have a sweet tooth you must try the chocolate chip cookie and the carrot cake.

As FASTFOOD this is great. However - it is fast food - only Vegan. We like the grilled chicken, bbq and calimashed. Great choice when you want fast Vegan food.

Great food and staff, I was a little disappointed to find out some items on the menu were raised in prices but the food is great! I recommend the VG Cheeseburger!

This review is not on the food, which was good, but on the location. This place was so dirty that is was uncomfortable to eat. I love Veggie Grill and usually go to the one on Sunset at Archlight. I was by The Grove so I decided to go to this location. There were dirty dishes piled on about half of the tables, trash all over the floor ( even on the patio) , and there was lemonade in the clean utensil caddies. I have never had anything less than an amazing experience at other Veggie Grill locations.

Crispy simplicity and colorful delight! Each ingredient, perfectly fused with others, targets its own taste buds and hits it with great success. The result - a perfect symphony of flavors! You will walk away with a smile.

I had an invite to attend a "Sneak Peek" of their new location at the Grove's Farmer's Market (it's located in the north area of the Farmer's Market next to the Children's Place). I went with a friend for lunch today - the first thing I noticed was the abundance of food everyone seemed to have. We were greeted by an employee who explained that we could basically order anything we wanted, all in exchange for asking the cashiers some questions to test their knowledge as well as filling out a comment card at the end. Sweet! Since this was our chance to try the items we hadn't, we got the All Hail Kale Salad, Santa Fe Crispy Chicken Sandwich, sides of Mac 'n Cheese, Sweetheart Fries, and Chill Out Wings, and two drinks. Everything was delish! We got the wings, which basically mimic boneless chicken tenders, buffalo style - they came smothered with buffalo sauce, which wasn't listed on the menu but which the cashier offered. My friend, who loves buffalo wings, said he couldn't tell they weren't made of real chicken (unless he ate the "meat" without the sauce) and really liked them. The ranch dressing tasted pretty similar to ranch when eaten with the chicken, though when we tasted it alone, we could tell it wasn't ranch. My sandwich was tasty as well. The All Hail Kale Salad came with a sweet vinaigrette dressing with strips of blackened tempeh (an extra $2.50), carrots, red cabbage, tomatoes, walnuts, and quinoa. I usually do not eat kale, but the salad was not only edible but good! The Sweetheart Fries, which are basically yam fries, did not disappoint - they were somewhat thin and crisp on the outside - yum! And before we were finished eating, we were brought a plate with samples of all three of their desserts: chocolate pudding (a little thicker than dairy pudding), carrot cake (very moist), and chocolate chip cookie (this had nuts in it). My favorite dessert was the chocolate chip cookie, which tasted like oatmeal more than chocolate, and the carrot cake next. The food came out quickly - took less than 10 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and good about answering any questions we had (according to one server, pretty much everything is made w/ soy). Yes, any meat eater will be probably able to tell that these items are vegetarian when tasting these items by themselves; however, when Veggie Grill combines all the ingredients and flavors together, the dishes taste surprisingly close to meat products. I'm glad to see they've opened up a little closer - be sure to stop by if you're in the area!

All Hail kale is one of my favorite salads here. Parking may be difficult on a busy day considering that they are located in the farmers market area of the grove. But you get free parking for the first hr with farmers market validation. I also tried the Santa fe crispy chicken burger, it was okay. Their buffalo wings taste just like real chicken, it was pretty addicting. I wanted another order of it.

when you want to give yourself a break from all the crap you normally ingest, you don't have to be a vegan to come and eat here. so many of my animal eating friends, me included, can eat the santa fe crispy chicken and not notice the difference between this and a crispy chicken sandwich you normally get from a fast food joint except this version actually tastes way better. crispier, less flat, and obviously more healthy. i love catering from veggie grill. the serving utensils, trays, etc., make the food look way more elevated than other catering places. the restaurant is clean and the food makes you feel good about yourself, the planet, etc. VG all the way!

ALL HAIL KALE!!! Hail sweet delicious kale! I adore you! Yeah...so the kale salad with blackened "chicken" is incredible. Ask for dressing on the side and sprinkle salt and pepper on it and you have a winner! (I like to dip the "chicken" in the dressing instead of pouring it on the salad) The Mac N Cheese is very bland, even with a lot of salt. I wanted to like it, and it smells delicious, but it's a no go. The lemonade and iced teas are fresh and refreshing. I love this place.

Came here for dinner with friends, the atmosphere was dead and almost depressing. The food was cafeteria style and mediocre. Probably won't return here again, it's like panera bread but worse.

I am in love with the Veggie Grill. I go here all the time and have introduced this place to many non-vegetarian friends and they too fall in love. I normally get the Sante Fe Crispy Chickn sandwich, sometimes with kale, sometimes cabbage slaw, and sometimes sweet potato fries. It's always an excellent choice and consistently good, no matter which Veggie Grill location I go to. Today I tried the Buffalo Wings for the first time. They are a newer addition to the Veggie Grill menu. My reaction on taking the first bite: I threw the fork down and said WTF, how the hell did they make these? They are so freaking awesome! The sauce, the texture, the sauce (oh I said that already!) Seriously the BEST thing I have had on the menu (sure, I say that about most of their items but this time its true). I am in love now with the Buffalo Wings. The BBQ sauce has a nice kick. I would love to have this in a wrap with the side of ranch as my meal. Nice work, Veggie Grill. I don't know how they do it every time but they have WOWED me once again.

Everything is delicious!!!! My favorite go-to restaurant. Fast, healthy, yummy, vegan food. I could eat here everyday. The burgers and sweetheart fries are my favorite. And now I'm craving some.

I love meat. I enjoy In N Out, Tommy's, and any kind of steak or fried chicken. I wasn't expecting to like this place, but I loved it! It made me want to be a vegetarian, and this is from someone who struggles to enjoy salads. If you're on the fence, I recommend you take the plunge. The worst that can happen is that you ate a little healthier that day.

I love the concept of a vegan fast food restaurant. My crispy chickn' had a nice crispness and texture. The kale salad was fresh, and my mushrooms sauce had a nice consistency. My only complaint is that I would like more seasoning. I understand they are catering to many people's tastes, but maybe have a spice rack close by? On a side note, I must say the bathrooms are nicer then some 5 star restaurants I have been to in NYC.

I wanted to write an update on here about Veggie grill we gave it another go around and fell in love... I should have written the update long long ago... but haven't gotten around to it... I absolutely love their food now... My husband and I go there all the time... our favorite salad... The all hail kale... and their chik'n anything is just YUM!! And as always I love their drinks... and we tried their carrot cake... oh so moist.. and delish!! it's a must try.... their food is AH-Mazing!!! and practically Guilt free!!! we are total regulars here now!

I ordered the Sante Fe Chicken Sandwich and a side of quinoa. Great flavor on the sandwich. You can tell that it is tofu but not by much. Packs a mean flavor. If you didn't tell somebody it was tofu they probably wouldnt know. The quinoa was good with small pieces of vegtable mixed in. I would come here and order either again. You can park for with validation on the Farmer's market side of the Grove.

I took to-go, and they were pretty quick with making my order. The food isn't anything too special, or the burgers aren't, at least. Maybe I'll try a salad next time!

I wish I mini Veggie Grill in my kitchen and could eat like this everyday. If it is your first time here, I would suggest ordering the All Hale Kale salad with some crispy "chicken" on top. The combination of chicken, dressing, quinoa, and walnuts add so much flavor. It is really delicious and healthy for you. My second favorite is Sante Fe Crispy Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Normally when I eat something "crispy", I am immediately in a food coma at the table. But eating this sandwich keeps me full and happy minus the guilt and lethargy. However I do have to say that this place is not for everyone. I have taken people here who are just not a fan. Veggie Grill will not taste exactly like real meat...because it's not. But it's as good as real meat gets and definitely beats out those crazy soy tofu concoctions I see at the super-food stores. Come with an open mind and a big appetite.

I may be a little over excited with my rating because I just moved from MD to LA and now I'm experiencing vegan food overload, but nevertheless my experience here today was great. This was my 2nd time at Veggie Grill, but my first time eating at this location. The servers are extremely nice and attentive, the place is super clean, and the food is amazing! I went there with two non-vegans and they loved everything they ate, and so did I! Definitely try the buffalo wings and the VG cheeseburger.

I was really surprise how great the food is here. I ordered the sante fe chicken sandwich with kale salad instead of the bun. It was really good! I really don't know if the chicken was veggie chicken it was that good. The sweetheart potato fries where one of the best I have ever had. Great spot a must come again restaurant.

Ate at Veggie Grill for the first time this last weekend and I can say with certainty that I will go again. Service was very friendly, food was ready in about 10 minutes and was delicious. Kale salad was amazing and the mini wrap was an excellent side order. Will go there again, and you should too!

Had the steak burger with cheese. Wow so good!! I wish I lived on this side of town I would come here all the time. The mock steak had a nice texture, the presentation was excellent as well as the service. The thousand island made the burger juicy without feeling too creamy or heavy. Also got the slaw side which was crispy and fresh. Burgers are served on whole wheat bum but wraps and kale wraps are also an option if you are gluten-free.

Since I was in town, I decided to check out the new Veggie Grill location at The Grove after having a wonderful experience at the location in Rolling Hills last month. The bright, airy location is ideally located towards the entrance of The Grove near foot-traffic happy Chipotle (good choice!) My carnivorous parental unit ordered the All Hail Kale Salad with Blackened Chickin'. Per the helpful menu this included marinated kale, red cabbage, roasted corn salsa, agave-roasted walnuts with a ginger-papaya vinaigrette. LOVED IT. The expressions of delight and amazement were music to me and I turned my full attention to my little feast that just arrived.... Presented to me with a pleasant smile was the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' Sandwich (sands avocado) with a side of red cabbage 'slaw accompanied with a five-star by ITSELF Chickin' Noodle Soup. The soup was unreal--I ended up getting two orders to go since they only offer it on Fridays and it was to good too pass up. The sandwich? Excellent but I wanted more (Greedy Gertrude? Probably, what can I say) The vegan Carrot Cake was moist and delicious! Great service, bright and clean surroundings---Veggie Grill, you have yourselves a winner.

i ordered the portobello mushroom burger as a wrap. i asked for the mushroom on the side so it wouldn't get the wrap soggy. i drove home and bit into the wrap to discover in horror that they forgot the mushroom. why still 5 stars? because the food is THAT good. im a carnivore. period. but seriously, the all hail kale was amazing.

yummy yummy yummy. At first I didn't really understand the vegetarian desire for patties not made of meat that are supposed to look and taste like meat. I thought, it doesn't REALLY make sense, does it? But then I realized not everyone is a vegetarian because they don't like meat. Some people choose not to eat animals for ethical reasons, etc but still crave something "meaty" - but nevermind - because true-meaty or not, I like it. I like it a lot. The Santa Fe Crispy Chickin sandwich is woweeeee good. Juicy patty, great fresh veggies and sauce, soft bun - all the side dishes are delicious as well. I think you just can't go wrong with the food here. It's prepared with love. I must knock off one star from this location for the parking situation though. Yes, I know it's at The Grove/Farmer's Market - but yuck - getting into the area alone is hard enough, then trying to park - it took me 15 minutes just to exit the parking lot the last time I went - try to check out another location with easier parking maybe?

Had the Buffalo Wing Salad. DELISH! I've tried to make vegan hot wings and failed so many times my husband has put a ban on any further attempts. I'm saved! I can now satisfy my hot wing cravings but stay a vegan! TOO BAD THEY DON"T ALSO SERVE BEER!!!! Only reason I gave them 4 stars is because I'm counting calories and I can not find their nutritional content anywhere, It is not on their website. This needs to be fixed stat so I can have more wings.

Disclaimer: I LOVE MEAT. I don't hate greens, but I absolutely adore meat. Do vegetarian burgers at meat-loving places always cost this much? Similar to how rotating restaurants with an amazing view charge extra, this place seems to charge extra for the feature of being meatless. The mediocre things we tried: - Santa Fe Crispy Chickin': Fried chickin', lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, spicy vegan mayo $8.95 - Papa's Portobello: Grilled mushroom, chopped tomato, basil & garlic pomodoro, caramelized onion, pesto, lettuce, tomato, red onion, chipotle ranch $8.50 - An extra $2.25 for each of the "premium" sides of sweet potato fries and mac n' cheese. I GUESS the "chickin" is probably some of the least disgusting-tasting vegetarian meat I've had, so that's a plus. Sorry if you're vegetarian. Siiiigh, should have gone to Mendocino Farms across the street :(

I came here enticed by the free birthday meal coupon I received a few months ago. Prior to that, I went a few times to their Sunset location 3 years ago. Let's just say, Veggie Grill is amazing!!! I am vegan and never really thought of going to the Veggie Grill for my food. But, now I am addicted. Their Fried Chicken dinner is my favorite. Also, each time I get their homemade pudding. It is amazing. Thumbs up to the Strawberry Lemondate--super refreshing. I am a weekly regular now and love it. Sitting outside is also relaxing.

I hate to say it, because I want to support as many veg places as I can, but this place is just okay. I've been here a number of times and I keep hoping it gets better. Don't get me wrong, there are a few solid sandwiches here (Santa Fe chickin', All American Stack), but not enough choices wow me. Definitely not enough to deal with the parking. And forget making anything into a wrap. It's way too much tortilla. The sandwiches taste better with the bread. Maybe I've been spoiled by the daily specials at Native Foods, but this place is a bit pricey. An additional $2.25 for sweet potato fries? I dunno about that. The chili the meals come with is also a let down. Pretty bland and tasteless. Wish it had a little more oomph to it. If I'm at the Grove, I'll eat here since there are more choices for me but I don't think this is the kind of place for omni and veg people to come together. Omni people are always afraid of mock meats and veg food and I think there are other, better restaurants that can help them conquer that fear.

  • Anna P.

If you haven't been to a Veggie Grill yet, go there immediately. Absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced, and it's all vegan. Is that even possible you may wonder? Yes it's all true. My only (vegan) beef with them is there's no location in the Echo park area. We need you over here! Then again maybe it's for the best since I would eat there uncontrollably and they would eventually have to roll me out of there like the oompah loompas with Violet Beauregarde. Oh and watch out for that sassy cashier! He is quite sassy.

    (5)
  • Ida K.

Really good food if you're a vegan. Even my meat-eating husband will eat there. Prices are reasonable too. Don't expect the meat substitutes to be the real thing. Really good place to take kids too!

  • Rebecca F.

A good neighborhood vegetarian restaurant is a must. Must trys: Crabcake Burger Buffalo Wings Chili CARROT CAKE The only thing I am not in love with is the mac n' cheese... still not used to the cashew cheese. Delicious, healthy, parking-- what more could you ask for?

  • David C.

I am not a vegan or vegeterian, generally like meat or fish for dinner. But this place is fantastic! Some of their faux meats are not distinguishable from the real thing. I was amazed, and happy I ate healthy while feeling quite fulfilled. The place is immaculate, food is terrific and the price is right. Winning combination.

  • Phoenix F.

I love meat, so don't read this review expecting a Peta loving, vegan fanatic skew on what I ate from here. I got the Portobello Mushroom burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were good, but not wonderful by any means. I actually feel the chipotle sauce that comes with it is too rich, and takes away from the flavor of the fries themselves. The portobello burger was decent, the sauce on it paired will, perhaps too many topping for my liking though. The total experience was around $12, so I probably wouldn't eat here again.

  • Nadia K.

The new menu is awesome! They brought it out right when I had grown bored of the other items (i eat there a lot). they have an awesome buffalo sandwich, crab cakes, and the addition of the new dinner plates. I've brought meat eaters here before and they walked away satisfied and confused, as they thoroughly believed that what they just ate was meat. The fake meat is the best I've had in a long long time. Service is also great. Attentive and ready to help.

Veggie Grill, please please, come to SF. This place has perfected the art of making fake meat. Everything here is delicious, organic, and pretty healthy. We visited here twice during our short trip in LA and plan to visit again as soon as we go back ;)

  • Kristie S.

I sure hope they open one of these closer to home, because I could eat here every day. I got the crispy chick'n sandwich at the advice of another customer in line. It was delicious!! And the sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy -- not soft and whimpy like some places. My friend's tempeh salad was wonderful too; I wish I could make tempeh like that at home. It's so much fun to find a restaurant where I can order anything on the menu and not worry about something non-vegetarian hiding in it.

    (5)
  • J L.

Tempeh?!! Quinoa?! KALE?!! you're not a true LA-er if you haven't developed a palate for those 3 things. I'm a red meat lover but I'll never stop wanting to be vegan! Quick rundown: 1. All Hail Kale salad: LOVE IT. It's quite filling without the protein substitute even because of the quinoa. The dressing is bomb diggity~ sweet and sour~ and let's just say, you get... cleansed. :) 2. Buffalo wings: Wait, you mean this isn't chicken? NO, it has to be chicken. Wait, you mean it tastes better than regular boneless tenders? NO, wait, but it is? OH OK. Try it! 3. Sweet potato fries. Ok, I am not a believer of the best fries at any one place. Honestly, anything hot and fried tastes good to a hungry person. But, I CAN say that Veggie Grill's spf are tasty! One note... and beware. Kale helps your bowel movements. the end.

All Hail Kale salad is to die for!! Even if you normally don't order a salad for dinner, I totally recommend it. I've also enjoyed the crispy chick'n sandwich with a yummy side of quinoa mac and cheese. (The mac and cheese here has a bit of a nutty flavor, FYI.) Add a glass of pomegranate green tea. Yum!

I'm obsessed. OBSESSED. O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D with the Veggie Grill. I love everything about it. (except maybe the price. Veggie Grill, why you so expensive!?) Some of my favorites: -Peach Black Tea (I have dreams about this delicious beverage) -Buffalo Chikin Wings (so delicious, with vegan ranch! tummy happy!) -Sweet Potato Fries (with their chipotle ranch- OMG yum!) -Chilli (so delichillious!!!) I could go on forever. I love you Veggie Grill. Do you love me too?

    (5)
  • Navid T.

Ok so I like the fake chicken it is pretty decent, I tried the kale salad because the employees said it was amazing (pretty whatevers actually), but everything else is pretty expensive and average. I think this place has the potential to do big things, but the price is just way too much..

You got to love a this anti-McDonald's for how unique and different it is from other fast-food joints. Multi-Grain buns, natural sodas, fresh made lemonades and flavored teas. Organic Ketchup and Mustard. What's not to like? I tried the BBQ Burger which if you're expecting a formed patty ala Boca Burger or Morningstar Farms, you'd be sadly mistaken. It's kind of a mess of textured veggie proteins and other goodies slathered together in BBQ sauce (of course....organic) on said multi-grain bun. To that end, it's more like Pulled Beef or Pork than a real burger. Escape the fact you are most definitely not eating anything resembling beef or even turkey and you have a pretty zesty sandwich here. Was happy with my choice. Mac-N-Cheese was also very zesty with bread crumbs on top baked well enough to provide that crunch. Sweet Potato Fries also were meaty and good. Hard not to find a good Sweet Potato Fry anywhere, of course. Drinks kind of fell flat on me. Had the Pomegranate Green Tea which was an unusual mixture of flavors. But it was OK. The lemonade might have been fresh but it just didn't have that kind of sour taste you expect from a fresh made 'ade. Veggie Grill is really doing a great job at promotion. They even have a birthday club where you get a free entree each year at your b-day month. Worth signing up for. My only complaint right now about Veggie Grill? Too far? Where's the Valley and the SCV getting some Veggie Grill lovin'? We need something like this up here!

Tried it for the first time being deprived of good food and vegan to boot, getting off the plane from MI, I had to make a stop here with my wife and daughter and boy was it worth it! Every bite of it and every taste was phenomenal! Santa Fe Crispy Chicken was amazing, I cried because I could only come here once and try only one thing. WHY? WHY?!!!!! I will come back for you, Veggie Grill! I promise!

A vegetarian's dream! I love love love this place. I'd eat here everyday. I've had their sweet potato fries, fried chik'n, chik'n tacos, steamin kale, chili (really gross actually but hey you can't win em all), potato/cauli mash with gravy (needs a little salt), cookie (awesome), carrot cake (also awesome), and their grilled cookie (cookie topped with pudding and cream cheese stuff). Everything is great! Seriously.

Really delicious, affordable too. Won't even notice lack of meat. I like how they don't give you a huge amount if food, but just right. Veggie grill shows vegetarian chains can do it right. Everyone should try it at least once, meat eater or not.

*****We got a BIRTHDAY COUPON in our e-mail. They give you a free entree during your b-day month so sign up when you are there! Free food is always a plus! I got the mac and cheese. It was so yummy. Tasted like real mac and cheese. It was also breaded on top. The consistency was thick and cheesy like American cheese. Not runny at all. Perfectly delicious. The person I was with got the breaded "chicken" with quinoa and mashed potatoes. This was also tasty. The "chicken" actually tasted like real chicken. I think what they ordered was the Crispy Chikin Plate with quinoa substituted for the kale. We got it "to-go" for the next day. We got everything we ordered in the to-go box which is always a plus because a lot of times something is forgotten in those orders. The ambiance isn't the greatest. But it's a fast-food, casual type place so that's to be expected. And we didn't eat here so I really have no complaints. Service is friendly and the place also looked clean. I would return!

yum yum yum!! All the options sounds super delicious even though they are completely vegan :) And they are really good as well. There is such a good variety of options from fake-meat to just the regular vegetarian stuff, so I think most people would be able to find something they like here. Reasonably priced as well.

Veggie Grill never disappoints! Must Try's: All Hail Kale Peach Black Tea Iced Tea All American Stack Buffalo Wings Veggie Grill is definitely part of my weekly lunch rotation. Knocked out 1 star because it's pretty pricey.

this place is still the BEST! the customer service is excellent, they send you a free entree coupon on your birthday, and the food is the dankiest, enjoyed by veg-heads and meat-eaters alike. new favorites include: the crispy chicken plate, the buffalo wings salad, and the crispy chicken wrap. old faves are still the chili, sweet potato fries, and kale salad with blackened tempeh. oh and the creamy chipotle ranch - i could bathe in that stuff! please bottle and sell or hand over your recipe! i just REALLY wish this place were kosher certified. can you guys make that happen? i think you'd get TONS more business, at least in your fairfax location. love you, VG! keep it REAL.

I can't get enough of the All Hail Kale. I would eat here every day if I were able to.

Very friendly staff. All of them. And thoughtful beverage choices. The food was OK, I'm well acquainted with vegan fare (love it!) and the tempeh here was temp-meh. My table mates all seemed to enjoy but not necessarily love their food (a couple were full time vegetarian) . So there you go.
