Went here this morning from many recommendations. Pleasantly surprised. Quick service, friendly and attentive staff. Got eggs noviscotia (not enough lox) and the crispy french toast. Both excellent. Toast was recommended and I was impressed at how it lived up to the hype. It came with sliced strawberries and blueberries and was paired with a sweet cream (so good) instead of traditional syrup. I would definitely recommend this as a breakfast joint in this area

Went here for the first time on 1/7/15 morning at 9:30 AM, and it was already packed! Good sign, right? I went with two of my girlfriends, and we were immediately welcomed by the hostess in the front and taken to our seats. The menu was not too extensive, but gave you enough options to choose from. I ended up ordering the Roma via Paris, which was amazing! The serving sizes are a bit large for me, but I just don't eat much... Everything about this place was on point, and I will definitely recommend this location (specifically). Make sure you get here on time because when we left around 10, there was a long line outside of people waiting to be seated!

Pricy but worth it for the quality and variety of yummy choices. I got their veggiewhich vegan sandwich and was very impressed with their flavors! It had creamy avocado, greens, onions and cooked beet which was pickled or flavored with some amazing vinegar like sauce. The only reason I gave this a 4 is because the pea soup was mediocre as well as the special apple, carrot and ginger drink which I was really looking forward to blowing me away. Overall a great breakfast-lunch spot and everything on the menu looked great!

The service is amazing and the food is great! Only problem- the wait time is forever, but it is worth it!

The coffee tastes like dirty water. The "fresh" squeeze O.J has no pulp and taste like concentrate. The food was OK but not worth the worst part of this place... the arrogant horrible attitude of the staff. I would never go back to a place even IF they had amazing food, that made me feel so unwelcome and had such bad energy. They need to come down to earth! Blueberry Panckes dry and awful.

Really good breakfast, no wait on a Sunday, and try the french toast. :)

10:30am Sunday Morning= 10-15 min wait * Service: very friendly and attentive * Ambiance: one of LA's hot spot * Food: nice presentation but mediocre food---especially for the high prices. - Crunch French Toast: $11.95---french toast coated with cornflakes= good concept but the french toast itself was a bit dry. The dip and fruits were really good. - Blu Jam Benedict: I didn't find anything special about this dish at all - Organic Latte: decent but served lukewarm, which turned cold real quick. There's a wide variety of food to choose from---we must've ordered the wrong dishes. oops.

This is only for what I had eaten there. I had the Tex Mex tofu scramble as some yelpers said it was really good. I came with a party of eight and the trio breakfast was nothing special. It was basic and plain and according to my hubby not filling at all he was still hungry. I had someone order the breAkfast burger and that was good and also the banana pancakes was decent. The cornflakes French toast was nothing special since my guest didn't finish them. So long story short... Unless I'm by myself I won't be back since everyone else I was with didn't think it was all that great. And the wait on Sat around 1030 was 45 min as it was so busy.

I arrived at Blu Jam at 10:45 on a Saturday morning. I was able to park for free in the residential neighborhood; it was only about a two minute walk from my car. I was told the wait would be between 35-45 minutes; weary, I consented and gave my name. Fast forward an additional 45 minutes later; I am finally seated. Food was excellent. I had two orders of their signature Crunchy French Toast and a single order of a Blu Jam Benedict. Ambiance wise, it's kind of loud and jam-packed inside, but I'm willing to overlook it for the sake of the food. Unfortunately, there's no where for the waiting crowd to sit (which tends to be anywhere from 15-20 people), so I was made to stand in the sun for the 45 sem-odd minutes. My bill totaled to $53 dollars. Their orange is exorbitant and does not come with free refills. The two glasses of orange juice I had brought my bill to $9.90 alone. Overall, a decent experience. I will probably return in the future.

Just an FYI- this place is AWESOME. No matter what you get (yes yes, the french toast is superb, but theres so much more on the menu and it is ALL worth your exploration!), you are not only in for a great TASTE experience, you're in for a great personal experience. The staff is SO awesome, and so laid back, and so intent on making sure that even at their busiest, you feel taken care of, you're gonna wanna come back.

Maybe it's because I didn't order the best thing, maybe it's because we had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated (though that was expected) and then they didn't have mimosas (or any alcohol) and I'm a not-so-secret alcoholic, I'm not sure, but I was not impressed. The service was very good. The fresh-squeezed juices were great and I like the fact that you can mix and match your fruits and vegetables and they make it for you on the spot. The food came out quickly.... Yep, I got nothing else. There are better brunch places in LA. I mean, man, there are better brunch places on the same block. (See Village Idiot).

I've been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. All the food is delicious and regardless of what you like to eat you'll have no problem finding something to your liking. Go hungry and if you don't want to wait get there early. The French toast is my favorite but I'm also in love with the burgers. What can I say, I'm just hooked on everything. Once you go you too will feel the same.
(5)
Allen P.
first of all, the food is really good. The 45 minute wait for breakfast was worth it all in all. The waiter was so nice, he never rushed us and always attentive. Would I go back and wait 45 minutes again? probably not, just because I get really hungry early morning.

Best coffee drink on ice is their Dirty Chai. YOU MUST ORDER IT!!! I don't know what they do but every time I go to a coffee shop and order it, I'm terribly disappointed. On the food tip, order the eggs Benedict or crunchy French toast. Bomb Always a line, host guy is awesome. Polite and helpful. Be prepared to wait. You can always go to the bar a few doors down and order a Bloody Mary while you wait. Metered parking, you have to pay. Or you can find a yellow loading zone to park on the weekend.

Mmmm blu toast, I love you. This place has the fluffiest, most delicious French toast and amazing fresh berries to top it off. Of course it's always busy but every time I've been here it's been pretty fast and service has never been bad

Amazing establishment! The service was both friendly and quick, two things that seem hard to come by together in LA. I tried the burgundy omelette and my friend had brunch burger, coupled with the French roast coffee, this place was exactly what I hoped it'd be!! Highly recommended!!
(5)
Gianina D.
My friend and I came here today for brunch, and it was both our first time here. Perks: -good coffee -good service -AWESOME FOOD -great menu options -healthy menu options -cage free eggs and other good ingredients -atmosphere -inside waiting area Downsides: -small venue so everyone is really close to you, like you can pretty much hear everyone's conversations -gets REALLY busy, so be prepared to wait --PARKING, but HEY your're in LA so you'd better be used to parking and walking to your destination ^.^ overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely go back!

So freaking good. Had the loxex scramble with rosemary tomatoes! 5 star quality and service. Don't forget to ASK for your water :) love this place
(5)
Sibylle Z.
Really, this place is a gem for brunch! Whatever you choose, it's awesome. But do yourself a favor and choose the crispy French toast - it's divine! Outside a cornflake crust inside it has almost a though fluffy custardy mouth feel, fresh berries and a creamy vanilla sauce - dayuuuuum! One possible point for improvement would be to not cook the poached eggs in tap water - at least tourists like me taste a bit of a chlorine note. But everything else is flawless.

We have had some amazing brunches and breakfasts at this fine establishment, but last night we tried them for dinner. All small plates, 4 of us sharing, and we loved everything. The beet salad was right on, the salmon dish was great! The berry cobbler was amazing. We followed them on face book and twitter and they were offering a free bottle of wine if you made a reservation and mentioned aspecial word. The wine was a great $29.00 bottle of wine and it made it such a wonderful deal. We will definately return soon.

Great place for breakfast. Their food is carefully cooked. If you are looking for a traditional breakfast (eggs, pancakes and/or french toasts); then this caffe is the right place to visit. I highly recommend their Crunchy French toast it's really delicious!
I came here for brunch after my hike at runyon canyon - ordered the Spicy Tex Mex Tofu Hash (Vegan) it was delicious very full of flavor I couldn't believe I was eating Vegan food! It came with 3 tortillas to fill up and the portion was a very good size I had the most delicious dinner later with it! =) I am excited to come back and try out the other items!

I was visiting LA for the week and my friend suggested this place for brunch. According to my friend, there is usually a wait during the weekend but because we went on a Thursday morning the crowd was chill and laid back. The vintage wall decor inside the restaurant was interesting, the staff was friendly and most importantly the menu was ample (I hope that's the right adjective)! aside from some generic breakfast food items on the menu, I definitely suggest the BJC ginger shot, it almost gave me a slight buzz (probably psychological) as I bravely chugged it down. Getting buzzed from pure and healthy drinks? I could definitely use a ginger shot of after a night-worth damage caused by tequila. Maybe this will be the new hangover remedy?

Can't be missed if you're down in LA. This place has one of the best selections of breakfast dishes in town, try the Italian breakfast and ofcourse the infamous crunchy french toast. It's always full be ready to wait for a bit before you get seated.
(5)
Natasha R.
Came in asked how long the wait was told me 35 mins but most likely 25... was ok with that considering it was Sunday afternoon... went for a brief walk came back told me 10 more minutes waited 15 asked how much longer? There's still 3 parties ahead of you... but watched him sit parties of 3..5..6..and 11!! In 15 mins... unless you have time to kill or a huge party regardless of how many reviews they have a 50 minute wait for 2 is rediculous!!!

So cute and dainty! I went here with my friend who was visiting from another country and she also loved it. The crispy french toast... MUST HAVE!!!! It is so nice and crunchy and smooth. OoOOOOH! yummy yummy. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a must. The food did take a while to come, but we didn't mind because we were catching up. Great place to go if you have time and are looking for a long breakfast/brunch with your family/friends to catch up. Service was fast and efficient! Highly recommend~~~

My favorite breakfast place had always been Mani's...mmmm. Don't get me wrong, Mani's is still darn amazing, but I have discovered another piece of heaven. Blu Jam has breakfast all day, and trust me, you'll be thankful for that. Their Eggs Benedict is absolutely amazinggg - the Norwegian in particular! Had their french toast also the other day, was smothered with love and sugar and of course syrup and powdered sugar. Soft and fluffy, it was like biting into a pillow of goodness. Would recommend coming here any day, every day!

Great breakfast spot! Everything I've had there is great, but the salmon hash and migas are my favorites. Gets really crowded on weekends after 10:30 but worth the wait.

Cute little cafe with great food :) server was very nice when we asked for a different table since there was a big party right behind us yelling and fighting! We tried their fresh juice (carrot ginger apple and carrot ginger orange) and it was super refreshing! I would go back just for the juice. I had the florentine Benedict. Hollandaise sauce was a bit too tart for my taste and I wish I ordered it without the sun dried tomatoes because it made it too salty. But overall the eggs were poached nicely and the dish was good. Loved the potatoes on the side. Crunchy and flavored well.

This is by far my favorite breakfast place when I come to LA. It's so good, I find myself finding excuses to drive up to LA for it. I love their crunchy french toast ($12.95), but opt out for the powdered sugar on top, because it tastes fine without it..plus you get vanilla bean sauce. You would think its deep fried, but the crunchy parts are corn flakes. Florentine Benedict ($13.95) perfectly poached eggs with mushrooms, spinach , sun dried tomatoes and brie. everything I love in one dish. The dirty chai has espresso and chai and that combination is amazing. Depending on when you go, you can be waiting for hours, or get seated right away. I opt to go during a weekday around 10 and I never have to wait :)
(5)
Rachel O.
I had heard ppl rave about this place forever and I finally got to try it out yesterday. The Norwegian Benedict was AMAZING. Best I have had in a long time and if that is on the menu I will always get it. Service was great as well and liked the ambience, not to crazy, nice and relaxing and you had no idea it was 102 outside! Definitely going again!

Scylis A.
great vibe and atmosphere. instantly greeted with a welcoming feel. i was fortunate enough to have an awesome server who was on her A-Game. i had their special of the mushroom risotto with two poached eggs. it was really filling and bursting with flavor. my friend had their eggs bohemian, which looked awesome. i didn't get the chance to snag a bite cause i was too busy scarfing my face with my own plate.
Best eggs benedict I have ever had. The hollandaise sauce was to die for and the smoked salmon, oh so good. And their coffees are yummy...mmm soy mochas! I rave about this place and recommend it to everyone. The wait is not so bad, I've gone with large groups and usually get seated within 10 minutes. This place is SOOO much better than Toast or Griddle Cafe, which are both overrated. The waiters are super nice and friendly. Definitely my favorite brunch place in LA, such a delight everytime I go. The menu is diverse and if you have friends like mine, who are all super picky, you can always find something for everyone. Love it!!!

Ya know what? I'm giving the 4th star back. Not that I revisited or anything, but Kamil, the Owner/Head Chef, personally sent me an message on Yelp apologizing for my first time experience. I don't find blame in him or anyone else, things went down the way it did because of simple timing. He offered my friends a nice bottle of wine or a pitcher of sangria on the next visit and I really do appreciate that.

Meh! Wouldn't come back here for a mediocre $43 breakfast for two ever again. Ordered the Blujam Benedict and requested my potatoes well done and got back charcoal pieces the size of dog food pellets. The hollandaise wasn't that great either, pretty watery in consistency. My husband got the crunchy French toast which was good but had 5 small blueberries and some "finely" chopped strawberries... I must've came on a bad day... Or was it? We came on a Thursday morning and it wasn't even busy. Whatevs Ive attached pictures. Check em out.

This place is amazing makes me feel like I'm in Portland :) the vibe is awesome not to mention the menu so many options for vegetarians, and even a juice bar great addition to a breakfast place. I give a A++ on the crusted cornflake French toast with fresh berries I dream about it in my sleep its so good you have to try it. This is the place I'll go every time I'm in LA

I really dislike this location!!! Go to the valley location instead! Such bad service. And rude. Not even a check back for water or coffee refills. Also, I ordered the eggwhich, which has eggs over easy. Mine came out with hard yolks. No problem, an easy fix. Or so I thought... It took 20 mins more to make a new sandwich and my whole party was done before I even started! And that was "rushed" according to the waitress. Won't be back! And I encourage you to stay away from this location as well.

My friend and I always try to stop by Blu Jam whenever we are in LA. There is usually a pretty long wait but it is actually worth it. I would definitely come early to avoid it. The crunchy french toast is one of the most delicious and ingenious things I have ever tasted! I always order that along with the Burgundy Omelet which is also amazing. The prices are a little high but like I said the food is so tasty that they can get away with it. The only reason I took off a star is because of the wait times and prices. Other than that, no complaints!
(4)
Gerald B.
Today I had the Kamil's dish. Tasty and I'm stuffed. I can't remember all the ingredients but I would have never have thought to have macaroni with bacon. 3rd visit and the previous times I had their famous French toast. I've never had anything like it, but you can see and taste the freshness of the fruit and all their ingredients. No wonder there's a line every time we pass by. I can't wait to return and try other dishes. The servers are all super nice and seeing a clean kitchen adds to high standards of dining.

I guess at this point it's not even necessary saying how amazing this place is. I have been here for brunch twice now (celebrating family birthdays on both occasions) and the experience was nothing short of perfect. I did come on weekdays though, so I never had to wait for a table or struggle with parking. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. On my sister's birthday they gave her both free French toast AND a slice of cake. Oh they also have almond milk substitute for those lactose intolerant peeps! Just ask for it :) Bottom line: this place is perfect!!

The best eggs Benedict! They also have really good waffles with strawberries. This is one of my favorite breakfast places around. There is often a hour or so wait, especially on the weekend. So don't arrive really hungry because you will have to often wait. I keep going back.

The crunchy French toast lived up to the hype. Also try the Florentine Bendict if you are an eggs Benedict fan. Really good food and nice staff. Will definitely come again.

Expect to wait long if you don't come early enough for large groups. They have plenty of seating for group of 2s and 4s. They expanded to the business next door and made a waiting room so customers don't have to wait out in the hot sun during summer. There are plenty to choose from. The Crunchy French Toast is popular if you want something sweet. It comes with vanilla yogurt sauce, diced strawberries, and whole blueberries. I prefer the Breakfast Quesadilla which includes chicken, cheese, spinach, topped with avocado. It also comes with sour cream and salsa on the side as well as potatoes. I always replaced the potatoes with fruits and extra salsa.

Came here after a long 12 hour shift. I think it's a ritual now for me to try different brunch joints after work. Anyways, I got the MIGAS which is an egg scramble with chorizo, bell peppers, cheese and with pico de gallo on top. I liked it but i didn't love it. I saw other people ordering the eggs benedict. I personally am not a fan...hollandaise is not my thing but i'll probably try it next time. Didn't get to try the famous french toast either. I will do that next time.
(3)
Ruby K.
All I have to say is WOW. I had ordered their famous crunchy French toast and it was amazing. Crunchy on the outside and mouth-watering soft on the inside. The portions were generous as well. Their mimosas were tasty and strong but it was $9 for a little tiny glass. Not worth it! The only problem is the parking and wait time. Parking is on the street, and plus it's Melrose Ave. Need I say more? Also anticipate a long wait for a table when you arrive. I had breakfast there on saturday morning at 11am and our wait time was half an hour. Not bad compared to 45 minutes that i had read from other yelpers, but still not ideal.
(4)
Candice N.
One of the breakfast places I definitely recommend to people who are new to the area! Yes, the wait is long, but get there before 10am and you should be fine. I like their crunchy french toast (honestly, who doesn't?!) and their eggs benedict - the chef makes the hollandaise himself (really, this is the way it should be done!) and I love their coffee as well. For ladies who like mani/pedis, Polish Couture is literally a half block down the street from Blu Jam. My friends and I like to brunch at Blu Jam and get our nails done at Polish Couture. Win/win!

REPLY TO OWNER: You shouldn't have to make excuses for your employees. Clearly, if a host sat 2 parties ahead of costumers who were waiting in line ( hugged, and had lengthy conversations) it's hard to believe the host was catering to your "friends". Either way, I have never been so unsatisfied with such rude and unprofessional staff. In this case, unfortunately, rude costumer service outweighs the infamous crispy french toast.

Come prepared to wait a long time. Came on a Sunday afternoon, hostess said it would take 30-45 mins. I came back after 30 mins or so and she told us we have to wait another 30 minutes... I ordered the Vanilla French Toast and chilaquiles; both tasted good. Seating was a bit cramp and they only had one stall in each restroom which is a tad annoying considering you just waited an hour to be seated and then you have to wait in line again to take a damn piss. Anyways, my food was good, but my neighbors' food was whatevs (they had the breakfast quesadilla and scramble). I don't think I'll come back if I know the wait is going to be that long again.

Matthew L.
Its over priced breakfast on steroids. The french toast was good but they charge an extra dollar for real maple syrup, offering hi fructose imitation syrup free of charge, along with the vanilla crack syrup that is included. My eggs benedict required a steak knife to be cut because the muffin was so over toasted. Overall its worth going as long as you dont mind spending a small fortune. I will be skipping this place in the future. Staff was extremely nice but had no power, the owners too busy doing yoga next door to notice the unpleasant experience we endured.

Wow. I'm not easily impressed.. So, WOW. Their breakfast is fantastic. My bf got the Kamil's special (which he had postmates pick up & deliver for breakfast again the very next morning!). He insisted I try it, super tasty. I got the eggs florentine Benedict with potatoes.. Again, I'm a hard sell & I practically licked my plate. Fantastic. Prices/portions are average & very worth it.

The food was absolutely amazing, I did a make your own scramble and it was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Service was good, I sat outside since there was a wait inside, still a very nice atmosphere, a little noisy, but nothing to complain about! I'll definitely go back.

Love their French toast! Good amount and the milk type syrup went well with the crunchieness of the toast. Shared the salmon omelette and it was good. The capers definitely added lots of flavor to it.

(5)Allen P.
first of all, the food is really good. The 45 minute wait for breakfast was worth it all in all. The waiter was so nice, he never rushed us and always attentive. Would I go back and wait 45 minutes again? probably not, just because I get really hungry early morning.
(4)Robert F.
Came here with my date for breakfast , packed as always! Food was great, service was okay but can't blame them very busy! but over all really have a great place going ! Will come here again!
(4)Yoon J.

(4)Anthony S.
Amazing establishment! The service was both friendly and quick, two things that seem hard to come by together in LA. I tried the burgundy omelette and my friend had brunch burger, coupled with the French roast coffee, this place was exactly what I hoped it'd be!! Highly recommended!!
(5)Gianina D.
(4)Katelyn m.
So freaking good. Had the loxex scramble with rosemary tomatoes! 5 star quality and service. Don't forget to ASK for your water :) love this place
(5)Sibylle Z.

(4)Pop L.
First time at Blu Jam Café. First impression marred by waitress' request for me to move to a smaller table--at 8:15am, on a Wednesday, with only 4 guests in the entire restaurant ....really? Ordered the Eggwich--fresh ingredients and good combination of flavors. Tip: have a knife and fork ready--the ciabatta bread is delicious, but the crust is firm so that if you bite down on the sandwich, the stuffings just squeeze out (know what I mean? ).
(4)Ivy N.

(5)Syed A.
Can't be missed if you're down in LA. This place has one of the best selections of breakfast dishes in town, try the Italian breakfast and ofcourse the infamous crunchy french toast. It's always full be ready to wait for a bit before you get seated.
(5)Natasha R.
(1)Esthie K.
(5)Vivian C.
(4)Ellie C.
Great breakfast spot! Everything I've had there is great, but the salmon hash and migas are my favorites. Gets really crowded on weekends after 10:30 but worth the wait.
(4)Sayaka N.
(5)Wendy V.
Love this place, my bf works there n took me there for the 1st time, the French toast are the best
(5)Sarah L.
(5)Rachel O.
(5)Scylis A.
great vibe and atmosphere. instantly greeted with a welcoming feel. i was fortunate enough to have an awesome server who was on her A-Game. i had their special of the mushroom risotto with two poached eggs. it was really filling and bursting with flavor. my friend had their eggs bohemian, which looked awesome. i didn't get the chance to snag a bite cause i was too busy scarfing my face with my own plate.
(5)Judy C.
After waiting a good 25-30 minutes for a table, I was excited to finally try their eggs Benedict. I ordered the Blu Jam Benedict -- which was served on a toasted croissant with Black Forest Ham, crispy bacon, hollandaise sauce, and potatoes. My complaints? The "toasted" croissant was soft and soggy and not flaky at all. The worst part was the hollandaise sauce, which was heavy on the lemon juice. It was unpleasantly tart, and left a lingering bitter aftertaste with every bite. The only thing that saved this dish (and overall experience) was the side of potatoes. They were cut up in small cubes and sautéd with bits of crispy potato skin.
(3)Kristine N.
Love it!!!
(5)Robert S.
(4)Sue K.
(1)Stefani D.
(5)Nina M.
(1)Aziz A.
the manger in the restaurant is not helpful at all we asked him to Change the food because it was cooled and he refused I'll never come agin here if this guy is working here
(1)Amanda P.
(4)Gerald B.
(5)Mariela D.
(5)Amy D.
Delicious food !! A must try!!! I love breakfast and Blue Jam had yummy breakfast food all day!
(5)Brenda M.
The best eggs Benedict! They also have really good waffles with strawberries. This is one of my favorite breakfast places around. There is often a hour or so wait, especially on the weekend. So don't arrive really hungry because you will have to often wait. I keep going back.
(5)Linda P.
The crunchy French toast lived up to the hype. Also try the Florentine Bendict if you are an eggs Benedict fan. Really good food and nice staff. Will definitely come again.
(5)Vlad L.
Awesome food, small menu but everything is really good. Come early, there is always a line. I come here all the time. 5 stars.
(5)Nelly D.
The French toast is DIVINE! Martin is friendly and fast. Such a great server and service! The vegan granola is also delicious... and the iced latte... and the salmon plate!!! The atmosphere and simple and classic.
(5)Neelu P.
Good food. Friendly staff. Warm atmosphere. Portions are WAY too big for some items. A little pricey.
(3)Alice C.
(5)Caroline T.
(3)Ruby K.
(4)Candice N.
Win/win!
(5)Noey N.
(1)Catarina Y.
(3)Matthew L.
(2)Audrey H.
(5)Francesca S.
The food was absolutely amazing, I did a make your own scramble and it was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Service was good, I sat outside since there was a wait inside, still a very nice atmosphere, a little noisy, but nothing to complain about! I'll definitely go back.
(5)Erville V.
Love their French toast! Good amount and the milk type syrup went well with the crunchieness of the toast. Shared the salmon omelette and it was good. The capers definitely added lots of flavor to it.
(5)Ghazaleh T.
I love this place, the quality of food is great so cozy . It's pretty busy on the weekend so you have to stay at least20 min in the line. But it so worth it. You should try the French toast. Don't miss it .
(5)Sarah A.
I love Blu jam by melrose to have a breakfast or brunch, my favorite is crispy French toast .. It's very yummy!! The only problem for this place is too noisy n no reservation plus hard to find a parking.
