My friend and I had a good experience when we went to Rebel Bite the other night, and I want to share. We went for a night in Long Beach to celebrate my friend's birthday, and she really wanted pizza. I investigated our nearby options on Yelp (of course), and one that caught my eye was Rebel Bite. Why? Well, they had really customizable pizza choices, and...29 beers on tap! 29! Our waiter Jesus was super nice. When the restaurant was out of one of the beers that my friend wanted, and the iced tea I wanted, he seemed genuinely concerned. No big deal, I thought. They're a new place and still working out the kinks. My friend got the beer flight and 2 slices of pizza; I got water and the house salad, add chicken breast, and Italian dressing. Get this: the Italian dressing was real olive oil and balsamic vinegar, with herbs added. I dug this, as it showed quality won over quickness. Also, for whatever reason, that chicken breast was the best one I have had in a LONG time. It was so good that I immediately want to get back in my car and go get another salad just to have it again. My friend said that her pizza slices were really good, too. Why not 5 stars? Well, I told the waiter that it was my friend's birthday. He asked if she wanted them to sing to her, and she said no. I think it's nice that he asked. But I saw another table get a free dessert with a candle right when we got there, and it would have been nice if they had brought her that, I think. And our table was super rickity and stuff almost spilled because of it. But overall, I think this place could easily become 5 stars, and I'll be back to check it out! Great job transitioning from a food truck to a restaurant, guys. Keep up the good work.

hmmmm... how can I say this....... I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Not your average pizza place.. The food here is better than "good"... so far I've gone three times and have not been disappointed... First visit I had pizza & beer... BOTH are GREAT... love the pizza and the fresh brew!!! Second time I came with a group... again pizza & beer.... added some wings & salad this time... very very good eat... servers are very nice and attentive!! Third time I wanted to try something else on the menu... Garlic Chili Cheese Fries and a melt.. My favorite local bar in LB! I love the atmosphere of this place. My husband and I walk here every Sunday for beers during Happy Hour. The guys that work here are always friendly and just generally awesome. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who's wanting to chill for a few hours drinking good beer.

I've been eyeing this place for months and finally decided to haul my ass in. Since there was no one in the front to greet me, I assumed I should help myself, grabbed a menu, and pulled up a chair. A waitress finally came over and took our drink orders. I remember the service being a bit slow, and I don't blame the waitress. This place seemed to suffer from the one-waitress-is-enough-for-the-whole-place syndrome. I ended up ordering the spicy spaghetti dish, and my boyfriend ordered a massive hamburger. The waitress then came over and told me that my dish would not come out at the same time as my boyfriend. Like, he was done with his burger and then I received my dish. I'm not sure what happened, cause the pasta didn't taste like it was freshly made. I did appreciate the fact that I received a discount because it took so long. Based off of that, I will be returning to try one of their pizzas. But if it was based solely on the spaghetti I would not be coming back.

I have been coming here frequently for the past 6 weeks. This place always has great service. I have never had to wait a long time for food to be prepared. Great beers. They always change their selections and have almost 30 beers/ales/IPAs. Their food is pretty great amd cheap prices everyday 5-7pm Happy hour. I have not ONE complaint.

This place is clean, casual, provides lots of places to sit, and they have a fantastic beer selection at reasonable prices. I had the pulled pork mac-n-cheese sammich with garlic fries - OH DANG! delicious! My husband had the coffee rub ribs; I must have picked the best piece because it was so delicious and juicy. But yes, a couple of pieces were a bit dry - BUT SO GOOD. I also agree with Leland S. - share your meal; we had leftover galore. The waiter was super friendly and patient with me and my many questions. You've got to try this place!

Service - Friendly Reservation - None required if you're going for lunch. Food - We tried the servers recommendation but we weren't wowed by anything. 1. Snowball Sammich - The bread is just way to soft to hold the big chunks of pork. Upon picking up the sandwich, the bread just breaks apart. 2. Spicy Spare Ribs - False advertising at best. The ribs weren't spicy, they were sweet. Came with coleslaw that tasted like minced bland cabbage.

Started out SO promising, and just crashed and burned. Maybe we were there on a bad night (it was a Wednesday, about half full?) and there looked to be only two servers. But we waited FORRREVVVERRRRR for our food, and when it came, it'd been switched with the order of table next to us (though "their" food came out first, when they'd ordered 10 minutes after us). Unfortunately I didn't realize the mix-up until digging in...because the spicy spaghetti they'd ordered looks like regular spaghetti I'd ordered...bummer! Also seemed like there was a lot of confusion about where meals were going...every time an order came out, the server basically asked every table if it was theirs. Frustrating experience because we really really wanted to like it. Had one beer comped for the meal mix-up, which I'll give props for. It's...close....to being good. Close. Might have to try again when it's a little more experienced.

Definitely some of the worst service I have ever had. I had to wait 45 min-1 hour for my sandwich to be served and the waiter did not even apologize for the time it took! My friend ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and it also took her 45 min-1 hour to get it! It was a simple grilled cheese sandwich that could be made in 15 minutes!

Passed by this place a million times and finally stopped by. A place is only as good as its happy hour, I don't care what anyone else says..half off on pints and melts can't be beat. Great beer selection (lots of micro) and even better food. Recommend any of the melts and the many speciality items means the menu will never get boring! I am going to post a review of Rebel Bite because after my fourth visit, I can't just keep quiet about this. I've already eaten half of the menu, and everything is outstanding. I always dine-in, but I always order food to take home before I leave. I have a couple teenage boys who've never been there, but devour the food I take home. The last time I was there, they had a female-trio group that sang beautiful folksy, bluegrass harmonies that complimented the restaurant's gastro pub character and ambiance. You've had pizza, grilled cheese, and French fries before, right? Come to this place and you'll see it's all done a little different. Certainly won't disappoint. Oh, the beer. 29 craft beer on tap...is that enough for you? Maybe not for some of you but, hey I didn't start drinking beer until late in life. I'll cut to the chase here and say 5 stars.

Total miss. Went in last Sunday just after noon to a totally empty place. That and the fact that their a/c was turned off should have been enough of a warning. However we decided to stay and try someplace new. Three of us ordered the "pulled" pork sandwich which the waiter highly recommended. Upon arrival, it was obvious the pork was not "pulled", but strips and chunks of over cooked meat. Could have handled that, but the meat was luke warm on the outside and cold on the inside. We told the waiter, who dutifully took one of the plates back to the cook. Moments later he returned with the same plate and said it must have been the cole slaw on the sandwich that made the meat cold. Is it a health code violation to return the same plate after taking to the back, out of sight? No apology or offer to re-do it or comp the meal. What a waste. When I was done paying our bill, the waiter asked if we wanted something else instead--great timing. Was looking forward to their "happy" hours as we are walking distance away, but that won't happen-ever.

I like this place a lot. I like the space, the vibe, and that they're doing something creative/different/refreshing. Perfect for LB. The staff have been very nice during both my two visits (although it was very quiet today - only one other diner). I had the same thing both times (Fungi Formaggi Melt) and I quite like it but it needs some perfecting yet (especially as it is the only vegetarian sandwich option on the menu). I would like for this place to stay in business so here is some (hopefully) constructive criticism for the owners to think about tweaking the menu: $8 seems slightly steep for a lunchtime cheese melt (even a gourmet one), more so when that price tag doesn't include fries. When the sandwich arrives you realize it's overflowing with ingredients and arguably well worth the price. That said, I think it's far too rich and greasy. You'd be best off using about half that much cheese, less onions, and reducing the price slightly. I'd prefer to get 3/4 of that sandwich for $6-7 instead. The cheese melt portion is so big that I can't finish it. So there's no point in ordering fries etc. On top of that, it's so rich I can't even order fries on the side (and I'm a french fry junkie). My suggestions: -A few less rich/less greasy options -One or two more vegetarian options (fungi melt, fungi pizza = too similar) -Smaller portion sizes, or a range of portion sizes -Ideally offer a half sandwich/half soup deal or something so we can get a nice small tasty lunch for under $10

Love what they have done with the place. Went with the family and had a good sampling of the menu. We started out with the chicken wings. thumbs down for size and price, say cornish hen wings, thumbs up for the taste. The barbque sauce was perfect. I would have gave five stars if the wings would have been a regular sized. Enterees were Karl Marx melt w/ garlic fries, Black Ink Pizza, Short Ribs, and Dirty Sketti. Everything was delicious. The pizza crust is crispy but fluffy, the short ribs and sketti are spicy yet flavorful and the melt was one of the best grilled cheese i have ever had. Garlic fries too. They also have a nice beer selection. I will be going back to try more.

My husband and I wanted to try out this place because we heard about the food truck. Although the chili spaghetti was delicious, the service was unfortunately terrible. I am HUGE on service and unfortunately, I don't think I'll go back because of how bad it was. I had to get up several times to ask for things I should've already had like plates for the pizza, a knife, or crushed red pepper. Our waters never got re-filled. They never checked on us once. We were very disappointed. We might, get take out in the future if we happen to be around the area but we won't be choosing this place to dine at.

Big selection of craft beers, however IPAs and APAs dominate the list. Only one Belgian style Wit (Blue Moon??) which was disappointing. I did however have a good Hef (only 1 choice). The mushroom melt was really yummy. So were the garlic fries. The cole slaw is insanely hot (and I'm no wimp when it comes to spicy food). My only complaint was the music. They were playing some god awful 90's Nu-Metal (or who knows, maybe it was some new hipster band trying to sound like god awful 90's Nu-Metal). Everyone in our party agreed that it was obnoxious. It was too loud and just plain shitty. The service was great. Interior is nice and HH prices are good. On my next visit I might have to break out an old lady move and ask them to turn down the music. BTW-we weren't the oldest people in the room.

I used to go here when it was Pizza PI. The service was good and the waiter was very attentive. I had Dirty Sketti which is spicy spaghetti with two meatballs. My friend had some kind of melt and said it was good. Mine was good too. They have a large selection of micro brews if your into such. We both had a ice cold PBR and were happy. I used my Living Social voucher and was surprised. With or without Living Social, Groupon etc, it's worth a try.

We were served watery iced tea with very little ice. I asked for apple cider instead, only to be told they had ran out. The bathroom was dusty and the paper towel holder was broken..not a good sign at any restaurant. I'm so sad that this place changed from Pizza Pi. At least back then I could order my favorite pesto pizza. The pizza we did get was not very tasty and the crust was similar to pizza you might get at an average snack bar. Not worth the $15 price at all. Sad to say, I will not be eating here again, maybe it's the spot for a good beer??

A group friends brought me to RB for happy hour. We had Rebel Wings, Margherita Pie, Coffee spare ribs, and Snowball sammich to go along with Black Hef and Revolution XPA. Dang, what a combination we had! Their beer selection is awesome, beer ratings were helpful for someone without much beer knowledge. Service was attentive and their friendly servers make you feel like this is the spot to come for bites and craft beers in Long Beach!

I'm giving 2 stars mainly for the great craft beer selection and for the desire for this place to do better. I've driven past Rebel Bite several times and finally stopped in since I was flying solo for dinner tonight. I was ecstatic that they had Hennepin on tap and immediately ordered a pint. I labored over a decision on what to eat, and although the guy behind the counter pointed out every category on the menu, he made no recommendations. I tried the habanero chicken "sammich" (as in "woman get in that kitchen and make me a sammich"). I gotta say, I was disappointed. I expected more flavor since the menu described this sandwich as breaded with habanero peppers. All I could taste was bread. I had to open the sandwich to see if there was actually any chicken in the sandwich. It was 3 little tenders of chicken that looked like they had been left in the fryer for about 20 minutes, or perhaps they had been cooked earlier and reheated. The chicken was tough, chewy and lacking any flavor. What bugs me is the fact that the sandwich took about 20 minutes to come out, and I'm pretty sure I was the only table (out of the three in the restaurant) that had ordered food in the last 1/2 hour. I'm totally fine with waiting for food if it's made right, but this sandwich was just not great. Here's the deal: If you're a new restaurant, you need to spend the money and make sure every guest has a great experience. The food has to be made perfectly every time. You can't afford to send out half-assed food (especially when the restaurant is mostly empty). Take some advice from someone who's been running restaurants for the last 15 years - Invest in the food, make sure it's made right, make sure your staff treats every guest as if their livelihood depended on it (because it does) and you'll be a success. Also, I'd lose the pig with the mask and communist hat. It just doesn't match the menu and it's kinda weird.

Stumbled upon Rebel Bite after finding out the wait for Roscoe's was 45 minutes and we were starving. Really glad we did because this place has a great happy hour. I believe it was $3 drafts plus 1/2 off all melts everyday from 5-7. Got the funghi melt and snowball melt. Overall, I thought the flavor was good and the meat tender but a bit too salty. The octopus stew we got was the perfect start after running around in the cold and rain. Service was friendly and attentive. Will be back for HH!

If I could leave a no star review I would. I totally loved this place when it was "Pizza Pi" and before it changed to "Rebel Bite". Since the change I have been here 3 times and ALL three times I was disappointed! The beer selection is GREAT but the food is WAMP WAMP!!! My last visit (will literally be my LAST visit) I ordered a beer and some garlic bread. I asked that they serve me the bread and accompanying marinara sauce without cheese. The guy taking my order looked a bit confused. I got my beer pretty quick which was good and after about a 10/15 min wait he shows back up with my toast! It was literally 2 slices of dry toast! No butter, no garlic, NOTHING! Just dry toast. I went back to the register and asked them if that's what they considered garlic bread and he told me that they took the garlic bread off the menu and that they would make me another. Why would they take garlic bread off the menu and why would they serve me this sorry excuse for it??? I told him forget about it since my friends whom I met up there had already eaten and were ready to leave, so to just ring me up. He did and charged me FULL price! He didn't even think about comping me for that sorry excuse for garlic bread. He simply told me that he offered to replace it and I told him to replace it with what some more dry toast? I was done! I told him the proper move would have been to comp me for the wack a$$ toast and possibly keep a customer happy. I told him that since the change I've been there three times and disappointed all three times and that I would pay full price to prove a point and not come back. I won't be going back. $4 for dry toast and marinara sauce is NOT THE BUSINESS!!!

Tucked away in a quaint residential neighborhood, 'Rebel Bite' is a hidden gem. They offer fantastic beer selections; highly recommend the Golden Chaos. Ordered the funghi pizza and dirty sketti; both were filling, full of flavor, and delish. The ingredients were fresh, the service impeccable, and the ambiance inviting. Note: we went here a couple months ago, I'm just posting the review now. It is possible that they've gotten better since then? We were *not* very impressed. We ordered the chili, a fennel pizza, and the Karl Marx (marinated beef) sandwich, and a drink. They came back after several minutes to say that actually they didn't have any chili, so we swapped in garlic fries. Food came out quick enough, we didn't have any complaints about that, other than I didn't get my drink until I asked about it... The garlic fries had a small amount of garlic on them, enough that they *looked* like garlic fries, but not enough that they actually tasted like anything more than just regular, boring fries. Not worth 5 bucks. The sandwich, I actually thought was pretty good, but I agreed with my girlfriend (who was less impressed with its taste) that given its size, and the rather small ratio of meat to other things, it wasn't really worth 9 bucks. And the pizza, which the menu claimed would have "shaved fennel, caramelized onions, italian sausage, fresh torn basil"... well, it had fennel, which looked impressive, but didn't really taste like anything, and little sausage pieces, the kind you see on cheap pizzas like at Sbarro's. I didn't see any onions, and certainly no basil, so really, it just tasted like Sbarro's pizza, only with higher quality cheese. Definitely not worth 16 bucks. Basically, at the everything-was-half-price prices that we actually paid given we had a LivingSocial voucher, those were probably about the prices we thought all the food merited. Oh yeah, and it's ugly as frack, too, which I don't usually notice, but seriously, cheap plastic tableclothes?

So far, so good on the beer selection! They really are making an effort to stand out by offering some fantastic beer on tap from Green Flash to Inversion IPA. The food isn't that great but I think they are working out the kinks with the kitchen. The pizza is really good but the 'salad' is bland and basic veg. I'd like to see some additions to the menu that are vegetarian friendly and healthier. The octupus soup is dreadful. Smelled like socks and tasted bland and the fish was not fresh. Since we don't eat meat, I'm not sure about the other pizza/meat options but they have a great happy hour 7 days a week and the staff are really nice. Give it a try!

While visiting Long Beach, a friend recommended this place and I am so happy we decided to have dinner here. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! We were a large party so I was able to try a bunch of their menu items. We had 3 types of the melts, and I loved them all, the steak especially. We had two types of spagetti--both great but the dirty sketti (sp?) is what dreams are made of. And the piece de resistence: a pizza with blue cheese, pears, and almonds that made me want to cry it was so good. Go here, you won't be sorry you did.

***Update*** Ya know, I've been back here a few times since my first review, and I've stopped going because...honestly... the guy who works the counter is really incompetent and it's just a pain in the ass to deal with him. Example: Last time I was there.. Me: Hey....can I get 2 plain slices to go? Him: O_o (I show him the menu...) He rings me up for almost $8.00 for 2 slices...(they are $2.50 each) I tell him he overcharged me...and he argues it's tax...and I tell him I get that it's California, but NO.... He uses a calculator to figure out 2 x $2.50, and then puts it into the register. I WISH I WAS KIDDING. He told me it would be 10 mins for my slices.... he just had to turn around & heat them up, but he was texting & talking with one of the guys from the kitchen. Then I waited 15 mins for my slices. This guy is NOT new...he's been there since they opened. Dorthy, we're NOT in Jersey anymore.....*sigh*

Wow, The best! Great job guys- we had the Carl B. Marx Pizza it was seriously the best pizza we have ever had. We also tried a "Bowl o' Chili"-sooo good could not stop eating it! Pizza by the slice made to order? Revolutionary! You can choose your own toppings, and they'll cook it up for you. First of all, pizza-by-the-slice joints are a rarity in LA. So I was excited to see this place pop up in my neighborhood. And i have NEVER seen a pizza-by-the-slice place that allows you to customize your slice. I don't know how they do it, but it definitely works. I lived in NY for years, where pizza is pretty much the city's official food. But this slice kicked NY pizza's ass! They use fresh mozzarella, which is also rare. The cheese is fantastic. Most pizza places let the pies sit in the heated display case, allowing it to get overcooked, with over-dry crust, and greasy, separated cheese, and flavorless overcooked toppings. This is how pizza-by-the-slice has always worked. Rebel Bite is revolutionary for allowing the customer to eat a freshly prepared slice with fresh toppings and cheese, without committing to a whole pie. The beer selection is also incredible. They have a great selection of craft beers. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Also, the service was incredible. They server was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and informative.

I had the Black Ink/Octopus Pizza and it wowed me. The thin crust, the tender octopus and the subtle heat from the spices all made it something I will definitely go back for. Once I learned of the owner's Korean roots, the menu made complete sense. The beer special that night was good and the price even better. The service was good, although we usually eat later and the place was not crowded.

So we got a pork sandwich Hawaiian pizza and a small house salad....the sandwich was A-MA-ZING!!! Pizza not so much can get a better one for cheaper and was way to salty...and the salad is a waste of time and money lol it was $4 and was in one of the small Togo boxes and didn't seem very fresh....I'll give this place another try maybe eating there will make the pizza taste better.also there is a sticker on the window sayingdog friendly patio yeeeah i guess the railing that is in front of the building with no tables outside is considered the patio lol

First of all, the food was excellent here. The Sketti Vongole, spicy spaghetti with clams, was so good. The beer was stone ruination IPA for $3, and the server even gave us a sample of a new menu item to try. All this aside, the real reason I am writing this review is because we had gone to another place in Long Beach earlier in the evening, a very hip place in Belmont Shore, and had waited for over 10 minutes to even be greeted by anyone and the place was almost empty. So arriving at Rebel Bite, I was in a foul mood. The moment we walked in, we were greeted and made to feel at home. The server, who introduced himself as Jay, came to us as soon as we sat down. He chatted us up, and really listened to us. The rest of the dinner just got better and better. The food was great, everything was flowing so well, and Jay and Rebel Bite made my foul mood disappear. I just want to thank Rebel Bite for saving the day, and I will be frequenting your establishment.

Had a great time at Rebel Bite . The food was great the portions were large and the Pizza looked wonderful ( I had the Karl Marx Sandwich) The atmosphere was hip and cool ( perfect for oldies like me and my daughter ) TV's to watch sports and another area for live music. I really had a good tome and cant wait to go back and try the pizza.

I walked in here when I had time to spare in the town and struck up a conversation with the bartender. Even though he seemed somewhat busy setting up for the day he went out of his way to talk to me about all the different craft beers and unique food they had. He was very helpful and friendly and I made a point to come back later that day just to try the food. I am looking forward to the day when I can come back and indulge in some of that golden chaos.

no, don't go...don't...go. food is overpriced and unappetizing, to say the least. dressed up, low quality faux gourmet. I thought I was in for a neighborhood, hip spot to eat on a Friday night. happy hour. beer and a burger. can't lose, right? after asking the very nice young waiter about the burgers and ribs, he convinced us to go with the burgers as though we absolutely could not lose there. being a bit of a detailed over-communicator, I asked him for a bit of a thorough description, as I have had the best of the best l.a. burgers...umami, counter etc. he guaranteed the happy factor and I was so looking forward to it. when they arrived, they looked great...nice bun and fixings, all artfully arranged, but one bite and my guy and I nearly vomited simultaneously. soft and mushy...wtf?! I thought maybe I had really screwed up by forgetting to tell him, "well done". I ate a few garlic fries to clear the palate and give it another go. one more bite and, "omg, wtf is going on here?!" we conferenced, my guy and I, trying to justify how maybe it was us. finally, we realized we just couldn't get through another bite, no matter how hard we tried to close our eyes and pretend they tasted like island's tastiest. so, I waited and waited, trying to flag the waiter down as he whisked back and forth 15 feet away from us. (why wasn't he coming over to ask how they were? why hadn't he glanced in our direction even once to see that we were just sitting there, miserably, afraid to bite into those burgers?) finally, i got up and approached the waiter as he was resting or filling drafts behind the bar. "hi, i'm REALLY sorry, but I think the burgers must be undercooked, they're all mushy and just...we tried but we just can't eat them. sorry." he goes on to explain that the meat is marinated and blended with something or another (celery? onions? something or another) and cooked in their own style. like a meatloaf or something? the patty didn't even have a ground meat texture, more like shredded beef glued together. it honestly tasted like masked, bad beef. anyhow, after a lot of sympathies, he asked very nicely, if we wanted to order something else. seeing as it was still happy hour and we still were enjoying our drinks, we decided to go with one of the pizzas. couldn't go wrong there, right? the huddle of guys at the table across from us seemed to be enjoying one after the other with multiple rounds of beers and they seemed to be happy during happy hour. couldn't go wrong with a pizza at a place that specialized in pizza, right? WRONG. never and I repeat, never EVER get that fungi pizza. you know, the multi-mushroom pizza. listen, I LOVE mushrooms of all kind. chantrelle, porcini, shitake, oyster, enoki...you name it and they had a variety of them, it seemed, spread across the sauceless pie. I was excited, hoping for the best. but, that hope quickly faded when I took a bit and was assaulted with a mouth full of foamy yuck. tasted like someone had spit on the pizza. some of the mushrooms were hard, as though they had been dried and not properly reconstituted. they also tasted as though they had been slathered in some sweet glaze. the worst of it though was the gross foamy, spit taste. needless to say, we paid our bill and bailed. no more rebel bite. I am a rebel against the terrible bites we had that night. one star for the beer and the nice waiter guy. the food, however is a negative one. nice concept...neighborhoodie. mayber the sammiches fare better, but beware of the burger and fungi pizza puke. sorry, guys.

Use to go to this location when it was Pizza Pi, not for the service, cause that sucked, but for the really good pizza and wonderful beer selection. I was sad to hear it changed hands... kinda. Anyway, last weekend I was craving pizza during play-off football and called to see what had taken over and if they still met the minimum criteria - good pizza and beer. They did, well, actually, the guy I talked to on the phone was awesome - really sold me on coming in to try it out. So glad we did. I laughed when he mentioned they were trying to weed out the common beers - they have coors and miller marked down to a buck! HAHA!!! We had a really wonderful pizza and beers, while also trying their Chighetti - its Chili over pasta - OMG!!! talk about a party in your mouth. First off, it's not for the faint of heart, so if spicy isn't your thing, then try something else, but if you like a little spice a little sweet - you'll LOVE it. I'm so having that again! We also had a Ceasar salad which was very good as well. Loved the service too - they took great care of us AND they knew their beer selection. Oh yea, and happy hour - $3 pints?! AWESOME!!!! If I could offer any suggestions... First, lower the TV so we aren't cranking our necks to watch the game - it's way too high and I was a little sore in the neck and shoulders from the way I was sitting trying to see the TV. Second, when serving something as yummy and spicy as the chili, adding just 2 small slices of bread is a little on the light side - 3 would have been better. And butter, not just a tiny little tab - it worked for one slice. Make sure the restrooms have TP... just sayin... I will definitely be back!

I was skeptical to come here because I wasn't sure if the ownership changed: I was so absolutely disappointed with whatever changes happened at the former place pizza pi (I won't even get started on how 10 to 1 that place became), but my bf decided to scope the place out one day and he figured out it was a new owner. I am so glad they changed, and very glad my bf brought me here to try it. The food is really good, pizzas are unique, happy hour is a good deal, decor is simple/Italian/BBQ-house mix, I really like it, they play a mix of good music (James Taylor to jazz), the waiters are informative and nice, the owner is the chef, and hes really nice, they have a selection of craft brews. Its just such a turn around from the last place, I hope they keep up the good work. To those who are skeptical like I was because of the last place (the owner walks around there all the time, so I thought maybe he still owned the restaurant and just changed the name to pick up their image, but he doesn't, its a brand new spot) just give it a try and see for yourself how good it is. P.S. try to get one of the guy waiters, my bf had the girl the first time he went, her names Happy I think?, and someone actually took over half way through, possibly because she was a not so good waitress, knew nothing about the menu or prices, was spacey, like stoner hippie spacey, he even told me the food was good but hes not sure about the place because his service, in regards to the waitress, was so ridiculous. No problems with the guys though.

Honestly the food was great but the service was atrocious... Instead of focusing on the people in the restaurant, both servers and the manager were definitely more concerned about the to-go orders and answering the phones...Took us 15 minutes to get our beers and while the food came out fast, once again know one came and checked on us...Aside from us having to deal with this there was also a couple other tables complaining to the manager as well....Honestly get you ish together...the to-go orders should be on a back burner

It was way better when it was Pizza Pi...gosh I miss it. I bought a $30 Living Social deal here to give the new business a try and I love the local location... what a mistake. They no longer offer delivery so I called to place an order for pick up and let them know about the coupon I had. The man over the phone said he needed to check if they accept take-out for the deal so I waited for 5 minutes. He then told me the Owner denied my order. I asked to speak to the owner, Clyde after waiting again on the phone and Clyde explained the fine details as written on the coupon... however DINE IN ONLY was not noted on the coupon. I asked him the process for a refund and he told me to "take it up with Living Social" since they haven't paid him yet. Then when he asked if I was local said he'll make an exception... forget it... I want nothing to do with Clyde, his business, or his food. I rather get my $15 back instead of get a $30 "value". Good luck folks!

This place never disappoints me. Yeah sometimes things are a little shotty, but they always make up for it. Today we couldn't decide where we wanted to eat for lunch even though it was getting too late for brunch and it was too early for happy hour anywhere. We decided to suck it up and head to Rebel Bite even though we're quite accustomed to their appetizing happy hour prices and felt spoiled. We ordered two beers and a Papablanca with only half with prusciotto. He erroneously brought us a full prusciotto and then noticed it right as we did. They more than eradicated the issue with a round of their $4 special beers and fixing the pizza. Needless to say, we demolished that pizza and it beyond met our expectations. The pizza had crispy kale, thin slices of potato, roasted garlic, and toasted almonds. I'm sorry I never tried it sooner!

This is the best thing I've ever put into my god damn mouth. Beer selection was awesome, daily special for $4 and live music that isn't too loud! Only downside was that somehow only like 2 servers were working on a Friday night? It was kinda hectic between kids dancing and people struggling to get beers. We ended up having to order at the counter (like everyone else) and had our table swooped on twice before we finally got to sit. Ok, I tried. I really did. Came here when It first opened and the pizza was doughy and tasted like $#!+. My roommate and I both work in the industry and chalked it up to new business drama. Came back when they had 76 reviews, still no good. Came in today because it popped up as dog friendly and had 4 stars!!! So I go in with my super cute puppy, it had just rained so I was waiting inside at the podium wanting to ask for a towel, but not wanting to leave the doorway because my dog is cute enough to steal. Two employees wave at me (not even a wave and a tale your seat as it is posted on the podium) I waved back with a I have a question, I hot a 1 finger from a guy in a red shirt....3 min later a dude in a blue shirt waves and runs to the back before I say again I have a question. Blue shirt comes back after about 2-3 min and I let him know I'm on the patio and have my dog. I didn't want to assume he wouldn't offer to wipe down the clearly wet tables. I ignored it and stood outside with my menu thinking he'd be back with towel in tow. He comes back sans (without) towel to take my order. We talk about the vegan disaster decide on Hawaiian and beer with a towel for me to sit. 4 min later two women walk in (I'm still standing) to the bar and I'm looking through the window and guess who's helping them??? The guy in the blue shirt who still has no towel in hand?!?! Seriously, there was at most 10 ppl on the restaurant spread across 4 tables, I can't get a simple rag to sit down? As much as the happy hour price was right, I walked my butt to Clancy's. At least there you know they are assholes and super cool about it.

I rarely write a review but the service was so awful I had to share. We arrived and ordered an appetizers, which they forgot. They also forgot a round of beers, the food took 40 minutes and the waitress blamed it on the performer who had no fans there. One of our pizzas was cold when we finally got the food. The waitress then came to confirm what we had and they added 4 extra beers on our bill! Once she brought the bill, it was still incorrect. What we had to eat was ok, but they took no responsibility for the bad service. Never again!

Pretty hip and unique pizza joint. Laid back vibe and cool music to get your drink and grub on. Came on a Monday night around 8:30pm and it was mostly empty with one server. Considering there is only one server, he was pretty efficient and got our drinks and food promptly. Papablanca pizza ($15.50) - scalloped potatoes, prosciutto, kale and sliced almond on top of white pizza. Tasted ok. When I was ordering this I guess I imagined it tasted differently. I felt like the pizza tasted really dry and the kale tasted burnt. The kale overpowered the prosciutto and the potatoes. I don't know if I'd ordered it again. Fried zucchini ($5) - good. Came out fresh and piping hot. Breading and ranch dip was flavored with herbs. I tried the garlic fries too and I think I would get that next time. Overall, I think this is a cool place to meet up with friends. Menu has a decent variety and a huge drink selection. I'd just order another pizza next time.

Came in for happy hour and on their open mic night Tuesday. Ordered two bowls of wings spicey and traditional, Hawaiian style pizza, and their poutine chili cheese bacon garlic fries along with a smog city coffee Porter and a knee deep brewing breaking bud. They have a good selection of mostly stout Porter and IPA. All in all the food and craft beer were great and customer service was excellent. Since happy hour was very close to ending the chef gave us the last bowl of hot wings for free. Their wings are also huge in size and about twice the size of hooters wings. Orders of food only took 15 mns. Ambience is pretty laid back with a huge hipster crowd and folks waiting to get their open mic session on. Their local and regular customers seemed laid back and friendly and their band was playing a mix of reggae and alternative. My only complaint is that the parking sucks but we did get lucky on park half a block away in a non metered space! There's no private parking for this joint.

Came in on a random Monday night with friends after searching a place to eat in dtlb. My cousin found this spot since it was a few minutes away from the coffee place we were at so we decided to give it a try. I can't say how it is during the weekends, as I expect it to be packed and loud, but for a Monday night it was really chill and had a relaxing vibe. We seated ourselves, a few others were there, studying, drinking beers and watching the football game, nothing too crazy. We ordered the pigpen fries and the vegan pizza with Prosciutto. The fries were amazing, the marinated beef was sweet and had a great flavor. Service was good, our server was friendly and helped us out with the menu. Definitely will be back to try out their craft beers and other food items.

3.5 stars Ended up at Rebel Bite on a Friday night after work with colleagues. Parking absolutely stinks in this area. You'll have to get lucky to find a close spot or there will be a bit of walk. Once you enter, there is a beer menu & food menu you grab yourself. Great ambiance for a hangout with friends! We didn't make a reservation for our party of 10 but it was pretty much empty when we arrived so they put two tables together for us. Food and drinks came out within a decent amount of time. Happy hour specials are pretttttty awesome! Beer + personal pizza w/ 1 topping for $6, beer + any burger for $13. The personal pizza was meh but i didn't expect much out of it. Pig Pen fries were almost drool-worthy. I'm not a huge fan of wasabi so I tried to avoid the sauce drizzled on top as much as I could. Hefty amount of fries & meat! Overall, we had great service. Went up to the counter to pay and they had our receipts separated. SCORE. Definitely will be back for happy hour 5-7pm!

My "vegetable fries" or whatever they called it on the menu were deep fried I don't even know what vegetable but the batter was still just wet batter!!! I really wanted to like this place. My bf and I were looking for a place to have dinner for my birthday and my first impression was that my search was over. The atmosphere was laid back, the decor was cool, the menu was interesting, and the beer selection seemed decent. We arrived during happy hour which was a great deal, but that's about it. It was self seating and it was a while before we were waited on, and our food took a while...anyhow The eggplant sandwich was okay, but super heavy Onion rings were battered in what seemed to be a beet batter and they were Extremely greasy. JalapeÃ±o poppers were okay. I just remember them being so hot like they were literally pulled out of the fryer. Bf had a burger and he said the bun was like a biscuit in that it was filling maybe even too much They people who worked there were nice enough. Maybe they were just understaffed, but I wouldn't come here to eat again unless I was planning to drink a whole lot because the food is heavy.

Had I written this review a month ago, it would have been four stars. We've been becoming regulars at Rebel Bite, stopping in a few times a month for some delicious pizza. But I don't know what's going on there lately. The last two times we've gone, we waited so long for service that we got up and went elsewhere. While I waited during our most recent visit, I had plenty of time to watch the waitstaff and I have three observations for the owners of Rebel Bite: 1. There are not enough servers. Only two people in a packed house? Hire more people! 2. Those servers are also wasting a TON of time behind the counter pouring beers, which looks like a full-time job in and of itself. They just can't get away from pouring beers to, you know, go find out if customers want some food (we do). Hire a dedicated beer pourer person so the servers can focus on serving. 3. The existing servers are totally inefficient. One of the servers would go outside, take an order, go pour a beer, bring that beer to the person whose order she just took, then go back and pour another beer, and bring that to someone else. She never stopped at all the tables she was passing to see if they needed anything. It's was as though she could only handle one task at a time. No wonder she never would stop to ask if we wanted to order food. Hire some servers who know what efficiency means. It's too bad. The food here is tasty when you can actually get your hands on some of it. We really liked this place and wanted to stay regulars, but we're moving on.

Rebel Bite is definitely one of my favorite gastropubs! Their happy hour deal is definitely one of the best! Their food is super delicious - I haven't tasted or ordered anything from here that I haven't liked and that says a lot because i'm a picky eater. I LOVE their garlic fries! Their garlic is freshly chopped onto their fries and trust me, you won't leave a single fry on your plate because it's that good. They have a really good variety of beers and I definitely recommend getting a flight of beer to try a few. Definitely come here to have a nice glass of beer and some good food!

Awesome selection of beer and great food choices. The pizza here is pretty good as well. If you love craft beer, this is the place. One of the best spots in Long Beach with a great tap list of different breweries. The food ranges from pizzas, bbq, sandwiches, and more. I have had a few items from here before and all were pretty good. For having such a small kitchen they really are able to crank out some good stuff.

I came for happy hour and honestly didn't find anything that I wanted so I got the Karl B Marx (marinated beef in grilled cheese). The server came out with a regular grilled cheese because they mixed up or didn't remember my order, but luckily, I let it pass because I was trying to kill time anyway. I got the melt and it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. The beef was good (although there wasn't that much), but it was sweet! I guess it would have been pretty good if I was in the mood for it, but I was craving something more savory and salty. There wasn't much cheese which I was hoping for either, but they did kill it on stuffing the sandwich with a ton of meat! The garlic fries were pretty good, but nothing super special.

Ordered pizza, jalapeno poppers, and hot wings. To drink I had the macho heje. The pizza was simple and lacked flavor and creativity with seasoning. The pizza wasn't bad but definitely wasn't exciting. The jalapeno poppers were pretty good the breading was perfect. The hot wings were the highlight of the meal. They had beautiful presentation and a creative and delicious sauce. Great happy hour prices for ales. I had a German Hefeweizen for $4.

This place was really great ... The first time. The second time they took forever with our food. Forgot our drinks and then we only got one pitcher of water. I understand this was a sunday night. The food is delicious dont get me wrong. But they need more servers on the floor. Especially on weekends. We did however love the wings and the pizza. But the customer service was not efficient. If you dont mind a long wait come through. But for a quick bite its not the Way to go.

FYI Tuesday nights are open mic here (local music, comedy, poetry...) got the lemongrad pizza- was skimping on eggplant, artichoke & tomatillo w/ heavier cheese, but we ate it anyway and washed it down with some good craft beers, listening to some amateur comedians & musicians. Keep in mind the equipment took up a lot of space but if you're looking for a younger, more lively scene on a Tuesday night, check it out. The staff was cool about letting us order 30 minutes b4 closing too.

It was warm today, and the inside of this place was hot. There were no doors or windows open, and there is obviously no airconditioning. Although our water was served cold, I wish that we had been given some ice. I was unfortunate enough to have forgotten a hair tie, so I was suffering indeed. Wanting to try something different, we ordered the Karl B. Marx and Lemongrad pizzas. The first looked nothing like the pictures on Yelp. Instead of chunks of meat and whole basil leaves, it was almost ground meat (reminiscent of hamburger) and small flakes of basil. Our pizza wa much less attractive, and the oil and juice from the meat was pooled at the top of the pie. Picking up a slice caused this liquid to run down my hand, making things quite messy. The flavor was alright - sweet, savory, and cheesy. The Lemongrad pizza was interesting. I like the aim at something different with the lemon peel on top. However, some of the veggies seemed undercooked (and there were blue potatoes instead of sweet potatoes). Also, I wanted a sauce of some sort to bring it all together. The food was okay, but expensive ($16.50 for each pie), and my mom chimed in that she'd rather go to CPK.

This local spot is very honest about its Menu. It's comfort food done right. Nothing truly fancy but it doesn't always have to be. They atmosphere is very relaxed and the decor is delightful. This place is a haven for craft beer enthusiasts. You will not find Corona or Bud Light on the Beer Menu. Yes, that's right, a Beer Menu! It's so detailed that you will ask the waiter to give you "a couple more minutes" more than once. It's always rotating and keeps a curious client like myself wanting to try everything. The food itself is greasy in all the right ways. Consider everything on their menu a "cheat meal." The flavor on spot on and the garlic fries are amazing. Give it a try next time you are in the East Village!

When I walked in and saw an Aziz Ansari stand up on the tube, I almost instantly fell in love! Our waiter was super cute (Lol) and friendly! He was so helpful with the beer menu (as I am not well versed in imports) and suggested a DELICIOUS amber that was a hit with the Karl B Marx melt (shredded marinated beef, kimchi & other stuff Lol). I loved the gastropub design and the laid back feel. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a funky style and loves close seating & great food!

FIRST VISIT: Came here on a whim when looking around on Yelp! On Sunday night 11/23/14 about 7:30pm For a dinner spot we haven't tried yet. PROS: -marinated beef grilled melt is AMAZING!! -Brown Ale wings are da bomb! -good fries -good music playing CONS: -Parking was awful.... Good luck -server was a little slow (no one there that night). Had to go up to get a beer. SECOND VISIT: Got the marinated beef grilled melt again and it was not so great. The server said they may have changed the recipe or did something different to it. Why? It's not broke! Don't fix it! Didn't really enjoy the sandwich. Way too much cheese. I will not go back to eat it again.

So there is a sign when you walk in at the hostess table that says grab a menu and have a seat. So I did exactly that. So I set there for 15 minutes and was not acknowledged. I watch people come in after me and get serve. I watched the waiter at the cash register look at me, but still no service. So I politely left. Pros: Lots of CRAFT BEER ON TAP and HAPPY HOUR 7 DAYS A WEEK! They also have a nice variety of unique and delicious PIZZA, including VEGETARIAN CHOICES. My favorite pizza is the lemongrad. I've also tried their garlic fries, jalapeÃ±o poppers, the eggplant parmigiana sammich, and the holy gloreos...all super yummy. They have a big room available for large parties and they also have live music on certain nights. Con (and the reason I didn't give 5 stars): Parking is hard to find since you're competing with all the apartments and housing in the neighborhood. Supposedly you can park in the Ralph's parking structure on Atlantic but with my luck, I don't risk it. Give their food and beer a try. You won't be disappointed.

Came in for a quick bite. It was quick. Asked the host what he recommended. He was full of suggestions. Great service. I went with their bacon burger and a beer. Burger came out quickly in a to-go container. Strange. Frozen deep fried French fries and and over cooked burger with some super sweet ""thousand island?"" As the host told me when I asked about the "house sauce". It appeared to be vinaigrette and honey. Yea. Strange I know. Bun flat out sucked and couldn't find the bacon in the mess of cheese. Used the restroom to wash my hands after the greasy so called burger. I have been in cleaner bathrooms at truck stops. Unbussed tables all over the place and the host is busy on his phone trying to get the tv to work. You guys are in a great location in Long beach. Get it together.

I decided to get some take-out for dinner. I looked at other reviews about this place and the photos looked pretty good. I ordered the dirty spagetti and the korean beef pizza. They said it would only be about 15 minutes so I drove over. Sadly, there is no parking. I was lucky to find a 30 minutes spot right on the corner. If I was going to stay I am not sure how anyone would find parking. The food was ready and I paid quickly. There were only a few people in the restaurant. The pizza was okay. The sauce didn't have a lot of flavor and i was kind of disappointed that there was so little korean beef as a topping. For the price, I was expecting a little more. The meatballs in the spagetti were awesome. i would go back just for those. The sauce was pretty good. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal. It was a little expensive.

Comfort food...deffinetly. We had pizza, karlmarx grilled cheese with carmelized kimchi and I enjoyed them both equally. Lot's of cheese and rich flavors. I can do without the waffle battered fried oreos, they reminded me of funnel cake. Place is known fur their beers but I didn'try them. They have vegetarian options too. Great customer service and good music. If you want something different and flavorful this is a go. Bellies up!!

Super glad I live just down the street from here. I called in a takeout order and they told me 20 minutes. When I got there 20 minutes later my food was ready and hot. I ordered the Habanero Chicken Sammie and Pig Pen Fries. Wasn't a big fan of the sandwich. I think the chicken was overcooked so it had an unappealing texture. But I didn't even care because the fries were craaaaazy good! Smothered in beef, cheese, wasabi sauce and garlic. I'm obsessed. I'm looking forward to eating in and trying all of their amazing beers next time.

Dirty Sketti (spicy spaghetti) - spicy, but flavorful! Two big meatballs that are delicious! Went here for the first time for a birthday dinner. The cool part is they have a semi private room for a large group. For some reason, there are maps and globes decorating the room....which was cool but I didn't get it considering Rebel Bite is a pizza place. But I digress... I was sharing with the bf and we ordered the fennel pie and pigpen fries. Let's start with the fennel pie. I give that a 7 out of 10. It was definitely good, but it wasn't an "OMG" delicious. The fennel was prevalent which I loved and worked so well with the sausage. The one thing that I was on the fence about was the fact that there wasn't any sauce. I wasn't aware we had to purposely say with sauce because apparently the menu mentioned that. It wasn't a big deal, but can you blame me for thinking there would be sauce?! Anyway, the pigpen fries though! The marinated beef was a perfect touch, but the star was the wasabi sauce. It wasn't that in your nose wasabi taste. But it was a zesty wasabi creaminess that I wasn't prepared for. It was really tasty. The only bad thing was that the sauce pooled at the bottom of the bowl so those fries were a bit too intense tasting. Overall, Rebel Bite was good. They had interesting pizza combinations; the other people in the group ordered different pizzas and all were yummy. If you're in the neighborhood, I definitely recommend stopping by, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Great beer selection that gets updated monthly, amazing happy hour deals, good pizza and fantastic garlic fries! I have friends that come here regularly and after they introduced me to it, I went back two more times on my own the same week! Eclectic atmosphere that is fun but not too loud -great for chillin' with friends. Overall, great service and great prices. For happy hour, my favorite is the mini personal pizza and beer combo for $6. Can't beat that!

This is one of the first spots I went to when I moved to Long Beach. What appealed to me was the beer selection everyone raves about. It's true the beer selection here is phenomenal, and their happy hour selections are a great deal. Great place to grab a beer and a pizza after work, or meet up for a date. The environment is cozy and inviting and the service is excellent (music selection they play inside is great!). Shout out to Daniel for being so friendly and attentive. The reason for 3 stars: the food is really meh. I've tried several things here. Pizza is thin and sort of generic, nothing too special about it. The chicken sandwich I ordered was so over fried it was like tearing into cardboard and the garlic fries were tasty, but ridiculously greasy. The parking is also a large issue for anyone not in walking distance. Overall a fun place to check out with friends or to pop by, grab a beer, and listen to some live music.

You have a good menu with some interesting items and some great classics, but it's like everything is doused in oil right before you serve it. Additionally the service is pretty slow, we waited about 15 mins just to order and then it took an hr for a pizza . When Rebel Bite first opened, I really liked the place. They had some very good food. Alas, they have stripped the menu down to the lowest of the lowest common denominators. Almost all of the vegetarian options are gone. And this place isn't just in Long Beach, it's in the East Village. Vegetarian restaurants do well here. As for what is left on the menu, no amount of garlic will save it, although the chef is definitely beating that dead horse. When there is almost as much garlic as tomato in the tomato soup, and it still isn't that good, maybe it's time to try a different recipe. I was told that the manager is going to be coming out with a new menu. I hope he does so soon. Until then, I'll eat elsewhere.

I really want to like this place. First- the good stuff: It's a pub walking-distance from home - score.The beer selections and service are great. The guys working here are always super nice and helpful, giving their own suggestions and friendly "make-yourself-at-home" kind of attitude. Beer sampler flights, cold fresh water in bottles at your table are awesome too. Now the bad: the food. The food is just um...meh... Garlic and pig pen fries are great, but the sandwiches aren't cheesy enough and the meat is over/under seasoned, or not enough of it or...something is just off. Dirty sketti is lackluster and the melt is good but needs MORE CHEESE. I hear the pizza is good, but I haven't tried it yet. I have come here about 4 times, hoping I was just there on an off night. But, nice choice if you want to chill with some friends, brews and some live music. Skip the food.

My husband & I just moved to the area, and we wanted to find a good, local place to get beer & food. We were really impressed with their large craft beer list, and their unique menu. We've been here three times & the service has always been top notch. We came here with a friend tonight (45 minutes before closing). It got really close to closing, but we wanted to order another round of beer. We asked the servers, Daniel & Jesus if it was okay with them. It's actually disappointing to see an amazing potential place suffer so badly. The employeesare trying so hard but when a crowd is a crowd it's hard to please everyone. Rebel Bite was a happy surprise when I visited for the first time a while back and now it's a staple in my "Trusted LB Restaurants/Bars" list. Awesome beer selection and the food is fantastic. They got started as a food truck, so the pizza and 'sammiches'/melts are out of this world. Though the Spicy Spare Ribs rubbed with coffee may win. Start with an order of the garlic cheese fries for the table. You won't be disappointed.

I was sad to find out that they have since changed their crust. The pizza is now as thin as a tortilla and almost tastes like one. I like thin crust but this was beyond thin. New York style pizza is thicker than this is now. Sadly, I will not be going back.

Went there last week, not really knowing what to expect. I was a fan of Pizza Pi's food, but the service/management really drove the place into the ground.. So while I will miss the pizza at Pizza Pi, I was excited to see what took its place. We ordered the Fennel/Sausage pizza and the Ribs. I loved the ribs! The rub on the ribs was unique and hit all the right notes.. Being a southern boy, I am used to great smoked bbq ribs.... these were more the braised variety.. so bit different.. but wow what great flavor they had.. They were served atop a bed of shredded cabbage, and a small dish of picked diced red onion and fries. The fries were perfect.. the onions perplexing.. I asked the waiter what they were for.. to be eaten alone, or poured over the ribs.. he didnt know.. and said some people do both.. umm thanks for the info.. My two cents ... instead of having a throw away garnish with the shredded cabbage.. why use the cabbage in a vinegar based coleslaw incorporating the picked red onions.. that would give you another side.. just a thought.. The pizza was good as well.. albiet a tad undercooked for my taste.(the crust was pale with no color) I was about to alert the waiter when I realized that the other half was more cooked and had some toasty color.. Upon exiting I notice they used a conveyer belt pizza cooker.. so maybe it just cooks uneven?.. maybe problem could be solved with a slightly higher temp? For my personal preference.. I would recommend a bit less cheese as well.. But it was a solid pizza nonetheless The beer selection was good.. Prices next to the beers would be nice, especially since we had a bit of sticker shock once we received our bill of two entrees and four beers.. around $60 As far as service organization goes, it was miles ahead of pizza pi. They directed us to a table.. gave us menus.. took our orders, brought our food and checked in with us here and there... not hard eh? Some restaurants have a hard time getting it right, and even though our waiter seemed inexperienced.. they did a great job. On a side note.. they werent busy and the waiter asked for our menus back since they didnt have that many... um.. if they were busy,, might be time to order some menus. One last suggestion... My friend I went with cannot eat tomato sauce based pasta dishes, nor shell fish. And likes lighter fare, ie not melts or pizzas. So there was little on the menu for him. Maybe add a few more pastas, salads, and entrees that would fit in that category. All in all, I am a fan, and will be back!

I came here with a couple friends to try it out. I had the chili spaghetti and my friends shared two pizzas. My spaghetti was room temperature but had good flavor. I actually liked the pizzas more but my friends thought they were just OK. We ordered root beer but were served flat Mr. Pibb. The waitress apologized for the mistake and removed them from our bill but it turns out they don't serve root beer here at all. What's up with that? The server was new but very friendly and tried her best to be helpful. No complaints there. Overall it was an alright meal. It's a nice place so I can forgive that they are still trying to get everything worked out. I'll give it another try I'm sure.

Love their happy hour deals. Good selection of beers all though tend to be heavy on the IPAs which I am not a fan of, but usually find something I enjoy. There pizza is good, basic. They have some specialty pizzas that sound interesting to try. Had their ribs in the past and they were great (but they do run out sometimes). Doesn't seem to have air conditioning so can get kind of warm inside. Some times they have live music which is nice. Parking is horrible in that area, luckily it is not to far of a walk for me. Always have had pretty decent service.

I miss those days of twitter trivia that won you free food.... Enough reminiscing. Now that I'm living in Long Beach, we had to check them out at their brick and mortar spot. HUGE craft beer selection (immediate plus in my book). I ordered the eggplant parm Sammy while my faince got the pulled pork. Both were outstanding and the portions were huge. The garlic fries were so flavorful too! There is a surprising amount of space inside for large parties. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. Can't wait to go back and try some more items from the menu! But put the Spaghetti Taco on this menu!!! :)

Rebel bite has almost 30 craft beers on tap, of which you can choose 4 for a $10 flight. They also have a few really satisfying bar food options. Live music on weekends should be a plus, but it's always too loud for the size of the place, making it more enjoyable to come on weekdays when they're playing the radio. Also the food service is very slow, so make sure you have time to relax while you wait or you will definitely get annoyed / hangry. The stars of the show are the spicy wings and the coffee rub baby back ribs. Order these with friends and You will be fighting over the last piece. Solo meal, order the fried chicken sandwich with the crazy good garlic ginger sauce. If they hired another cook to get food up faster and turn the amplifiers down 20%, this would be a five star experience. As is, It's still worth checking out for quality bar food & beer.

5 stars for the ribs and craft brews alone! I remember this place just being a food truck a few years ago. I'm glad that Rebel Bite decided to have a brick-and-mortar joint so I don't have to go around chasing them. With that being said, this place is a super awesome gastropub---something downtown Long Beach needs more of. The craft beer selection alone rivals that of Congregation Ale House---they have Ommegang Rare VOS on tap here, and anything by Ommegang (on tap) is hard to find. I've had the pizza and ribs here, and they are top-notch (especially those ribs)! The pizza crust is similar to Michael's Pizzeria (thin and crispy) and the toppings are so delicious. The garlic fries are so heavenly, you'd think you were at the Gilroy Garlic Festival instead of Downtown LB. The Spicy Coffee Ribs are what keep me coming back, though. Each half-rack is dripping with this delicious coffee sauce that has some bite--and the ribs have a generous amount of meat on 'em. Parking is a bit of an adventure---just park a block away and walk, it's right on Lime and Broadway. Or better yet, take your bike if you're a local.

I went during happy hour, and got a personal pan size pizza & a beer for $6! I also ordered a house salad; it was small and simple, but full of fresh crunchy veggies. Awe man... I was so excited to eat here and I'm really disappointed. I ordered take-out literally 35 mins ago and got home to try my food and it was not what I was hoping it to be. Wow, this gastropub took me by surprise. The food here is pretty solid. They also have 29 beer selections on tap (Stone IPA, Honey Blonde, West Coast IPA, Hanger 24, Eaglerock, Lagunitas). Prices for beer is about $5-$6. Tap is constantly rotating too & updated on their website. I feel like the cook here enjoys using Asian ingredients/influence or something. Black squid ink pizza($16, medium size) - Above average. I really liked this pizza. It's got squid ink (black), lemon juice, caramelized onions, and blue cheese. Comes w/ LOADS of lemon juice on it. The saltiness of the squid & blue cheese is neutralized by the lemon. Think of it like a sea-food pizza. The dish works. Give it a try if you are into these ingredients. Karl B. Marx Pizza ($16, medium) - slightly above average. Korean style short-rib beef, caramelized onions & basil leaves on top. I liked the pizza but it was lacking something. I think they should add mushrooms on it. Overall the pizza was enjoyable though. Tips: -I think they have a good HH. %ABV less than 5 percent beers get -$3, while %ABV greater than 5 get -$2 -Hipster vibe. They don't allow substitutions/additions on food. -Area surrounding is kinda ghetto.

A total gem! Super fresh non greasy pizza. The basic ingredients in the pizza are so fragrant. So much food for so little money. Leftovers I'm excited about!!! Medium pizza, toffee glazed ribs, coleslaw and fries for $23. This clearly feeds two. :)

They are literally never open. What are the hours? Open 9-5 and closed on Mondays? I don't get it. We tried it twice and it was fine but the atmosphere is definitely lacking and the annoyance of walking there to find it closed it enough to keep us from even planning to go there in the first place. I don't see it lasting long here.

It's almost embarrassing how often i frequent this establishment but, this is by far one of the greatest little hole-in-the-wall places i have discovered since moving closer to downtown long beach.. they have super great beer choices. Their food is amazing and they have live music some nights. Every single dude on their staff is helpful, friendly and laid back. just absolutely adore this place. I recommend the White Rascal beer, the garlic fries and the vegan pizza. yumers.

Great pizza and not only. Try dirty sketti or ribs! They add a nice twist to the dishes you know. It's a fusion of several different cusines. But the pizza IS full on italian thin crust full of flavor not like the fast food pizzas you get around town. Add mushrooms and ask them to sautÃ©e them first. Thats the way you do it if you want to bring out the flavor. One potential downside is that they do not deliver. But thats just their way to make sure the food you're getting is fresh as it hasn't been sitting in a thermal bag for 40 min until the driver finally reaches your place. Good place to dine in OR pickup. On weekends they used to have some local bands in the summer. Not sure about now. And while you're waiting for your order you can enjoy the selection of craft beers. Though not all of them are good! Ask for a sample b4 u order a beer youve never heard of just so youre not stuck with a pint of something that you dont enjoy. They should maybe switch the beers more often. I feel like i know them all by now and i dont eat ther often (maybe once or twice per month). Last thing. They wont check on you aka bother you every 5 min. All in all cool place good food and service

Service has always been great here as well as the food. But today the food was horrible. The Karl Marx meat tasted like a dirty wet towel. The dirty Sketti pasta was under cooked as well. Been here a few times. Sadly it will be the last. 4 stars for service. 0 stars for food = 3 star over all rating.

Rebel Bite has become my very favorite place to eat in downtown Long Beach. Though the menu is somewhat limited (which may be a lunch thing), what's available is delicious. Rebel Bite puts a twist on everything (cool spaghetti noodles in salad; a soft, chewy pizza crust over tomato soup), and they just work. The portions for the prices are fair. On both occasions that I have visited, I have been served by Daniel. During both, it was a quiet weekend afternoon with few other patrons. Daniel was super attentive. He is quiet, but seems a genuinely nice guy when you get to talking to him. I'd enjoy this place just because of his proper service. The food, though, makes it great, and then the beer puts it over the top. I write about beer ( thecraftbeerguru.com ) so I tend to enjoy a nice choice selection of taps. And there are always some nice beers available at Rebel Bite. I think, during this last stop, I had Lagunitas' Night Time, which was a beer that had its fleeting moments of fame just recently. That is to say that craft beers fluctuate in popularity, and this one was just at its high. And being that it is tasty, it was nice to see it on the beer list. The food at Rebel Bite is much more spicy than the menu describes. This may be off-putting for some, but makes it a treasure for me. The salad I had was sprinkled with red pepper flakes that caused a small sweat. The combination of oils and peppers made the flavor of the spice seem more likely from wasabi, so I was surprised when Daniel said it was from red pepper. Parking is a bit of an issue. A little over a block away, one can park for two hours for two bucks, and that has been my choice during both stops. This place is known for its pizza. But no matter what entre you order, I recommend having a bowl of the tomato soup on the side. With its delectable crust, it's basically a scrumptious alternative to pizza. I'll get it every time. It'd only be better if the soup itself was a chunkier, creamier version. Hopefully the menu expands soon. In any case, I will be visiting often, so I am sure I will find out. Recommended! Cheers!

I really like the environment and decor this place has. They have a lot of beers of tap which can accommodate everyone, I'm sure.They have a large selection of burgers and sandwiches, but I chose to try a pizza instead. The gf and I shared an order of the Pig Pen Fries which were greasy, full of garlic and delicious. On the other hand, the Karl Marx pizza was a bit flimsy and lacking flavor. The wait staff consisted of only one gentlemen, but he was doing a good job in making sure we had everything we needed. I do believe this place has some great sandwiches and burgers, so I'll be back to give them another shot.

Very good pizza and pasta, if you like garlic it's a must. They had live music which could be good and bad, depends on if you are looking for a quite place to grab sth to eat after work or get your weekend started. Definitely come here again.

I am not a beer drinker by nature, and it is difficult for me to find one that I like. I don't like bitter beers and I'm not a fan of real dark beers either. Our waiter here pointed me in the direction of a superb blonde blend that I was instantly in love with. I normally don't finish an entire beer, but there wasn't a drop left of this one! My date got the house burger and he loved it. I stuck with the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and it was one of the best grilled cheese I've ever had. The tomato soup was fabulous, too, although I thought it had a little too much oregano. All-in-all, the service was great, the drinks plentiful and crisp, and the food was awesome. I haven't even mentioned the dessert yet! The Holy Gloreos! These are the Holy Grail of oreos. Piping hot oreos fried in pancake batter and drizzled with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar. Will you go to Hell for eating these? Yes. Will it be worth it? BIGGER YES. I will definitely be back....even if it's just for the oreos.

I really wanted to like this place. Given all the good reviews..but this was our second time being here and didn't see anything worth the hype. I mean, they have good selection of beer which is good..beer is good. And when we last happened to be here, there was a nice little show set up which was cool. I like the environment but I hate to say, that's all I really liked. First time my boyfriend and I came here we ordered the pig pen fries and a pizza. The pig pen fries were a-ok, but a little bit too much on the greasy side. I can't remember what pizza we got but it wasn't anything too special and floppy. The second time we came here, we decided, we should try something other than the pizza..maybe the sandwiches are their niche? We started off with one of their claimed specialties the chicken wings...which had an interesting take..made in their special batter and apparently spicy. They were not..I was disappointed. The coating was very crispy which was good, but lacked seasoning. I felt like the seasoning and flavoring just didn't stay on them. After the appetizer I decided to try the habanero chicken sandwich. I was a little wary from the menu description of it, but thought I could brave through the spice for the sake of the overall sandwich flavor. Upon my first bite, I come to sad conclusion that...the chicken tastes exactly like the appetizer spicy wings! I'm confused. I take a couple of more bites trying to find the habanero fire. I got nothing. It almost felt like they debone the chicken wings from the hot wings and just put the meat in between two buns! Very bummed. I am always bummed when I have a disappointing dinner (who isn't?). What's worse is that I didn't even want to ask the waiter for a box to take the untouched other half of my sandwich home, but still did. My boyfriend was not too fond of his sandwich either. He got the tuna melt and was sloppy, hardly any tuna spread throughout the sandwich and rather dry.

The beer haz a delicious. The Papa Blanca is the delicious one. The wings make delicious flavors in my mouths. The workers is the delicious ones two. Margarita pie haz delicious. The only thing I didn't like is that there was one customer with a vape who complained and sent his sammich back. Oh, delicious wines too. I got tipsy here one time off two beers and an empty stomachs.

Solid local spot, will be back. Atmosphere 3.5 starts, was good, some tight outsides seating and as long as you dont mind cozying up with plants its a good enough spot. Inside looks open and bright, might try that next time. Food: 3 stars, we got the jalapeÃ±os popper and salad with the cold spaghetti in it, my wife got the eggplant parmesan and I got their rib special. My favorite was the salad, not because it was off the chart amazing but because the rest of the food was just ok. Will ask server what apps are frozen in order to avoid and ill try the pizza specials next time. Service: 3.5 stars, server was nice and helpful but once we put in our order and got our food, we didn't see him again till almost the end which wouldn't be a bad thing if i didn't drink so much water, I needed a refill. To his credit he was the only server and the inside was getting fuller so he was prob busy. When he did come out and I asked for water he brought out a bottle that would of been enough for the whole meal. Suggestion, if you have both people in a party order water, bring the bottle out at the start, save you time and them from getting thirsty. Beer Selection: 5 stars, great selection, and pretty much something for everyone, prices were decent and they always have a $4 special of the day which is great. Loved to find fancy beers right along with Old Chub, which I got. Would love to see that on Nitro! Overall 4 starts, will be back to try some other beers i have yet to try on tap and to give the pizza and inside service a go.

Was hoping for a great dinner like the one we had about a year ago-not this time. Waiter was rude and in a rush, every question got an eye roll and seemed like he didnt want to be there. Now about the food-NO MORE CHILI!? or as the waiter said "whatever's on the menu -is what we got". Ok then. Started with a Cesar Salad: Bitter spring greens, bland dressing, croutons so hard almost broke a tooth. The jalapeno poppers up next- basic frozen poppers, soaked in burnt butter. My husband decided the pizza was the safest,Not- nasty rubbery crust, greasy meat. I had the Karl Marx Sandwich: Greasy garlic bread, not korean short rib- it was carne asada tips! Burnt onions abd fries with remnents of burnt whatever has been in the fryer! Gross. Get it together!. At least the beer was good. Probably because they didn't make it. Wasted $50.!!! Awful dining experience.

Just had the most amazing late night dinner!! Our server Eli is a charm. Very helpful and knows his beers! Thanks for the recommendations! This hidden gem is great for dinner. We didn't have the joy of happy hour, but prices are great. We had the mix and match dinner for 2 and it was delicious! Pizza is perfect for the thin crust lovers and wings are perfect for any wing lover! I can't even get started on the beer options! Everything you could ever want under one roof. For starters the pigpen fries are scrumptious and the pear cider is very delicious as well. The Karl Marx melt is very tasty, the pulled pork sandwich is a winner. My brother in law enjoyed the sausage sandwich melt and he couldn't stop raving about it.

The food is nothing special. The pigpen fries we had, which had a weird sugary horseradish taste, came with a pool of grease in the middle. The meat in it seemed low quality. Burgers were not worth the price. Very generic and weird flavor combinations. I would not recommend it to anyone for food. The beers are good, but that seems to be the only saving grace.

Perusing Yelp for something new to try in the area, we were drawn to Rebel Bite's positive reviews and creative menu options. After circling the area for about 15 minutes, we finally paid $5 for parking and walked four blocks to the restaurant. No big deal, they can't be blamed for Long Beach's awful public parking situation. Upon entrance, the place was pretty crowded and live music was playing. We grabbed our menus and found one empty table in the back near the restroom (where a distracting light constantly flickered on and off the whole time we were there), in what I guess would be described as the "bar area". We sat about 15 minutes or so, wondering if we should just walk up to the bar, which had a constant line of people ordering beers. The bartender finally made his way to our table, letting out a big sigh, clearly his way of saying "Sorry I took so long but I'm really busy and working really hard!" It would have been better to just say "sorry" about the long wait, but he was friendly and informative, so I'll give it a pass. The beer selection was good, with plenty of craft options we haven't tried before. The menu options were disappointing, however. On their website you can find plenty of creative options on the pizza menu, such as the "Paint it Black", a squid ink and octopus creation that was right up our alley. Unfortunately, this was not found on the menu we had in our hands. We settled for the pizza and ribs combo. The pizza was decent, with generous amounts of cheese and sauce. It was offered with two toppings, so we got Canadian bacon and mushrooms, which were sparse and flavorless. I don't mind minimal toppings if the pie itself is amazing, but this one didn't qualify. The spare ribs were decent - the coffee and spice were definitely present - but were not braised carefully enough so they weren't as tender as spare ribs should be. The garlic fries were standard bar fries. Even though the restaurant slowed down quite a bit half way through our meal, service was still nonexistent. Usually we would order a second round of drinks, but since he never bothered to check on us after getting our food, we opted to just ask for the check and leave. The lousy open-mic comedy and mediocre music certainly wasn't going to keep us around. As we walked back to our car, it gave us plenty of time to discuss everything that went wrong with our meal. Had the restaurant been properly staffed, I'd have that second beer in my belly and would have left with a better impression of the whole operation. As is, there are plenty of spots in Long Beach that serve craft beer and decent bar food. If they want to attract business beyond the folks that live within walking distance, they better put their best foot forward and provide more attentive service or outstanding food. Or better yet, both. Otherwise, why would anyone bother?

Met some friends for happy hour last Wednesday. The location of this restaurant can be easily missed. It's located a block from Roscoe's. The interior dÃ©cor has an industrial feel to it but has a great vibe permeating from it. There was only one male server the whole night. He was friendly and cool but service was lagging because he had to take care of all of the patrons. We ordered their signature chicken wings, their pulled pork burger, bacon specialty burger and pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. The happy hour items were basically combo items with a pizza, sandwich or burger with beer for a discounted price. Their pear cider was super light, crisp and refreshing! Tasted more like soda than beer. Their best dish was their signature wings. Juicy, plump chicken wings with a slightly spicy, Asian sauce. It came with a side of ranch dipping sauce that brought out so much flavors. A must try at this joint! The pulled pork sandwich contained big chunks of pork in a bbq sauce topped with fresh cole slaw. The burger patty was thick, rich and had great, meaty flavor but overall the burger was too dry. Needed more sauce. What I didn't like was the toasted bread of the sandwich and burger. It had the texture of English muffin. Meh. The sandwich and burger came with either fries or garlic fries. Of course we got the garlic fries. They were alright. Nothing special. The pizza was also forgettable. Had a slice and it was pretty generic. No wow factor. Place filled up with locals throughout the night. A great place to socialize and enjoy happy hour with your friends. But unless you get here early or late be prepared to wait for extended time to order or get your food. Hopefully, they will hire additional servers during peak hours.

Delicious!! It is "comfort food with attitude". They have gourmet pizzas (called "pies" here), "sammiches" and even spaghetti but with flavors that I would never think to put together. Who thinks of putting gorgonzola cheese, caramelized onions and PEARS, and roasted nuts on a pizza? You get the buttery, saltiness from the cheese, the nutty sweetness from the onions and pears, and the crunch from the nuts all on a flatbread pizza! Hello?! If you don't find this delicious something must be wrong with your tastebuds. Snowball sammich: Marinated pork that is sweet and spicy, caramelized onions, and cheddar cheese. Talk about flavor bomb-ness! Prices? Who cares. Food is great. They also have great deals during football season... and a great selection of craft beers on tap!! Roscoe's isn't the only restaurant in the area - this place is freakin' awesome!

My boyfriend and I came here the weekend before Christmas. I'm only mentioning this because I like places that decorate for the holidays. It gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling. Another thing I like is places that allow you to seat yourself. That gets big points in my book. Anyways, we got our beers and fries (regular, not garlic) pretty quick and we inhaled them. The beer list is great and features a lot of craft beers from Stone Brewing's portfolio (Avery, Saint Archer, Oskar Blues, Mother Earth, Smog City, Ommegang, etc.) For our main course I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup while my boyfriend ordered the dirty sketti. Our food came out after the table next to us (they arrived after we did), so that wasn't great. When our food did arrive, it was pipping hot and delicious. The grilled cheese isn't oily it's amazing. The sketti has a small bite to it that's great. The only thing I wasn't nuts about was the decor. Aside from the beer signs, none of it makes any sense. Other than that, if you need a place to eat near downtown Long Beach, Rebel Bite is an affordable and tasty choice.

Came on a Friday right when they opened, so we had the place to ourselves. We sat outside and enjoyed some IPAs. Their selection of IPAs is pretty good, but there weren't many options besides IPAs. Perhaps I'm just bummed because there were no sour beers here. Make sure you go during happy hour, because paying $8 for a beer seems steep to me.

Story: Finished a conference and a friend organized an after event here. I was convinced by happy hour and it's unique menu. Ambiance: It's a space that can seat around 40 people and there is space to reserve. There's television if you're in need to catch a game. Food: Karl B Marx Grilled Cheese Sandwich * I haven't had a grilled cheese in a while and taking a bite out of this brought all happy feels back and more. The marinated beef was an extra plus. The bread was flavored and toasted to a delightful crisp. Pigpen Fries * This was delicious. The fries were crispy and the meat had a unique sweet flavor with a subtle hint of wasabi. I highly recommend this (fitting for 4 people). Customer Service: They servers were quick and knowledgable about the menu. Can't complain. Overall: I give this place 4 Stars. The food was delicious, price was right, experience was terrific but I wish they had more options with the burgers and pizzas that would have been perfect. Advice: * Sharing is caring, split and share your meals. More variety for your buck. * Seize the happy hour. * If you're trying to be healthy, this wouldn't exactly be the place for you.

Dear Lemongrad Pizza, From tonight until forever ever, I've faced it, you and me were meant to be. Magical Vegetarian Dreamgodcheffery must explain this bizarro perfect combo. Eggplant, sweet potato, artichoke, and onion. Smokey mozzarella stoppin' in with a friendly (non-overbearing) "Hey Toots". Then all topped off with thoughtful little lemon zest snow flakes (aww). I know, I know, I think I missed a topping or three. You must be the new pie on the block though, because no one on the internet knows who the heck you are/what you're made of. Well, dear pizza, dear friend. Pizza Friend. Be whatever you want to be. Just know, you'll always be "Lemongrad, that Pie was Definition: Delicious" to me. Love, L P.S. $4 all day beer special! P.P. This place is great. Made to order pizza, spaghetti and sandwiches but all with a twist. The Karl B Marx grilled cheese comes with marinated beef, caramelized onions and caramelized kimchi. It is a game changer people. It is simply amazing. They also have craft beer and a fun ambience and quirky decor. It's a nice change of pace from boring restaurants. I dig it mucho!

I ate here last week before heading over to Buskerfest and, to put it bluntly, this was one of the worst experiences I had at a restaurant. -The Fried Chicken Sandwich was sauteed chicken with mushrooms -The Pulled Pork Sandwich was pre-packaged, bland, cut-up pork with BBQ sauce splashed on top -The waiter, after offering to fix the first sandwich order, never came back to our tabel. Never checked to see if we were satisfied. Never refilled our drinks. Never asked if we wanted anything else. Never brought us our check. If I have to flag someone down after sitting in front of an empty plate for 15 minutes, you may want to re-train your waitstaff. -Incompetent manager/owner who mirrored the waiter And the kicker-- -Rats. Rats running along the wall. They saw them, but didn't say anything. It took another customer to point out the rats. At that point, they tried to cover up one of the holes in the wall and acted like nothing happened. In conclusion: I would not eat here again if they paid me. I would not eat here again if both of my hands were broken (preventing me from cooking) and they were the last restaurant in 100 miles. I would not eat here again if... I can't think of a scenario in which I would return.

Another gastropub has popped in Long Beach, this one located downtown. Since I was craving a good beer, we decided to check it out. As you walk in, you notice the smell of garlic, which is always a good thing. We got a table right away on a Saturday evening. The menus are on printed on paper which were pretty beat up. The beer list was extensive and had good descriptions of each. However, the food menu was a different story. The menu is limited and the items listed had a vague description. My wife had checked out their menu online and the item she wanted was not listed. Our server had indicated that they online menu is very outdated, and since had a complete makeover apparently. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich which was listed on the menu as breaded chicken fried with a ginger and garlic sauce. Well, what I got was sauteed chopped chicken on a fancy bun with more a mushroom sauce. Not exactly what I was expecting. My wife had ordered a pizza that had sliced potatoes on it. The problem was that the potatoes were barely cooked and still hard. The only real highlight with the food was the garlic fries which were pretty good. Service was also something to be desired. 15 minutes to put an order in for beer and have it delivered? Come on. Food took a while too. In our servers defense, he was slammed, but there was no one to pick up the slack. Prices are OK, but they do have Happy Hour 7 days a week with discounts of beer and "combo meals". 4 flights of beer runs $10. Overall, good beer and a good concept. They definitely need to work on their menu items and descriptions as it was not good enough for a return visit.

Saw this place from the street during a run and decided to try it after reading yelp reviews. We ordered the dirty sketti and the marinated beef grilled melt and garlic fries. We liked the food a lot. The sketti wasn't very spicy for me but the flavor was full. Gravy like meat sauce. We took the meatball option and they were just ok a little on the dry side. We were there during happy hour and had the cabernet which wasn't bad for the price. Ok so...pizza, yes. Beer, yes. Garlic fries, yes. There's some guy singing here right now which is a bummer because Flying Lotus was playing and I liked that way more. They have a good beer selection and we got the papablanca pizza which has scalloped potatoes, prosciutto and a mountain of kale with almonds on it...sooooo good. I would come back. The ambiance is super chill, really loved the setting. We tried the pigpen garlic fries, pepperoni pizza and the pale ale, everything was delicious and the beer was really cold. The service was outstanding considering that there were quite a few patrons in there. The beer menu is incredibly awesome...definitely no need to settle for your typical bud light or corona. We will definitely be returning, ver nice environment to go enjoy a nice gold beer.

If the Peppercorner up the street is your neighborhood diner, then Rebel Bites is your neighborhood gastropub. I say neighborhood because there is only street parking, and you might find parking out in front or off to the side of the building, or across the street, or you might have to walk a block. Hard to predict in this neighborhood. As far as food + value choices, the best time to go during the weekdays between 5 - 7 PM, when they have some food specials, like pizza and beer for $5, or if you are not in the mood for the specials, you can still order off the regular menu. I've had the Karl B Marx sammich, and while I like the flavor of the marinated beef, I thought it could have been a little more filling. I didn't write a review back then because I knew something was missing which I should have realized. And that was french fries. That was what the meal was missing. So last night I had the regular fries. The fries themselves are of the shoestring type, which is my preference, so I give brownie points there, but mostly they just serve their purpose in complementing the meal. Doesn't sound like a 5 star rating yet, does it? Well, last night, I had the pulled pork with fries and a beer. And it was a perfect meal - except maybe I should have ordered the garlic fries. The bread wasn't a mushy bun, but of a flat bread variety that held its own, the pulled pork was tender and saucy, and the coleslaw gave it a touch of crunchy and coolness to the sweetness of the barbecue sauce. And the beer? They have a monthly beer list featuring several independent labels, so you can find a type that you are in the mood for. I had a light beer generally referred to as an 805, for the area code that specialized in that type of brew. And it perfectly complemented my sandwich and fries, for the mood I was in last night. I'd come here for the food, and I'd come here for the beer. I'd come here for the Happy Hour deals. And to that the service was fantastic! Friendly and efficient.

A good selection of craft beers at reasonable prices. We have enjoyed many of their menu items: very good pizza and we recommend the spicy spaghetti. Fun salads as well as the specialty sandwiches. We hope they will start changing up the menu- like it but is a little one note. Pizza is always good. We have been to a party in their map room. Great space for 10-20. Private but not far from the action. A fun place to catch local musicians solo and groups .At least on Fridays and Saturdays. Come for dinner and a show.

Good place to hook up with a buddy for some great craft brews- The food menu looks a lot like something you would expect from a food truck..edgy & raw. My buddy and I both went for the Karl Marx melt - A gooey grilled cheese sandwich (mozzarella) loaded up with grilled steak bits and something that was supposed to be Kimchee. The sandwich was ruined for me by the sweet spicy sauce on it. Did not see any kimchee, but was probably ground into that sauce. If it were not for the great beer selection, this place would be a 2 star in my opinion. The garlic fries delivered, crispy golden strands of previously frozen potatoes slathered in garlic oil. Meh. Parking was a bitch, had to sneak into Roscoe's Chicken and waffles oversized parking lot to get anywhere near the place.

After a long work week I wanted to treat myself to some juicy red meat, so I ordered a pulled pork sammich... Totally regret that. It didn't sit well in my stomach. I was expecting that fresh coleslaw to balance out the fatty meat but it's really difficult when your pork isn't even pulled properly! I had huge chunks of pork, when at other places it's nicely pulled for easy chews. I only ate half and picked at my garlic fries (with barely any garlic on em!). I wasn't even impressed with the Porter I was sipping on, but that's what happens when your meal is a huge disappointment. Not going back. Ever.

I'm so glad they (finally) opened an actual restaurant. And right in my area too! Everything about this place is so unique. The savory and delicious food, the cute and quirky decor, the warm environment -- It's all good! I've had the Karl B Marx three times already (one from the food truck and two from the restaurant) and each experience was as wonderful as the last. The bread was toasted to crunchy perfection, the short rib was warm and tender, the kimchi was fresh, and the cheese was soooo gooey... My mouth is watering just thinking about it omg.. Give this place a try, guys. You will not regret it.

I walked into Rebel Bite for the first time about a month ago, and was greeted with a gigantic hug from one of my eskimo brothers, who just so happens to serve there. Right then and there I knew this place was special. Does it have awesome craft beers? Check! Does it have pizza that will make you ponder existentialism? Check! I have no idea what their sandwiches taste like, but I can only imagine that they were wizarded down from an Elysian field in an effort to bring us knaves a sample of what heaven may taste like. Rebel bite's a hidden gem of the Long Beach downtown/arts district.

I have visited Rebel Bite a few times. The beer here is actually quite good, there is a very good selection of craft beer on tap. The food also is actually very good, it is your typical pizza, spaghetti type food. The service... can be a little bit spotty. The servers are really nice, I can't really hold it against them too much. However, I could see some people having less patience than I do, it's slow, the bills are sometimes a little messed up. However, I still really like their happy hour, and generally like eating here, I would definitely go back.

The wife and I went back for another round. I got one of their Melts and a beer. If that was my last meal on earth I would have died happy. The wife got a pork sandwich that was equally heavenly and a beer. They are always accommodating when the wife asks to try a beer before deciding. We've added this place to our regular rotation. :)

I was super excited to check this place out based on all the positive Yelp reviews but my experience was sub par for sure. Went in around 8:30 on a Friday night. The place was absolutely dead but no one greeted us for 10-12 minutes. The menu seemed cool but had no real focus. We couldn't tell what their niche was. The server, James, eventually came around. He was nice but never really offered any suggestions for us as first time guests. He did a good job of explaining the beers so my date and I gave it a try. Our beers were delicious! We were so hungry but nothing really stood out. As we listened to Long Beach's crappiest band, we joked about this placed needed a Bar Rescue. The chips were cold and drizzled with a cold sweet sauce. We reluctantly ordered the chicken strip app. The strips were bland and burnt. We promptly left after our first round. I said to myself, that was a waste of $25.

Rebel bite is a hidden gem! I've been to every pizzeria in long beach and stumbled upon rebel bite recently. Their pizza is a must have and now I go there everytime I have a craving. They have a really good happy hour and an amazing beer collection on tap! The service is really good too, I usually have James who is very friendly and always makes sure everything is correct. If you are familiar with the Rebel Bites food trucks that have been serving Los Angeles county for many years, you will be happy to hear the food truck fair is now a permanent fixture in downtown Long Beach. Rebel Bites restaurant is located about 1 block east of Alamitos Boulevard on Broadway across the street from the remodeled Vons supermarket. The food, specifically the coffee rubbed back rib and the sandwich melt is top notch/nicely priced. If you can make the lunch time special (11 to 3), then the daily sandwich special is a good deal. Also, the beer selection on tap is top notch and reasonably priced. The happy hour beer special along with the food offering is a great value (a full meal and libations for around 12 to 15 bucks). If you compare this with some of the other nearby establishments, it is about half the price and higher quality food. Along with the good there is some concern for cost versus value ... That would be the pizza price versus the size of pizza offering. Rebel Bites serves 12 inch pizzas with home-made dough for the standard pizzas that is very nice. The cost of the offering is between 8 to 14 dollars which equates to 9 to 12.4 cents per square inch cost base. Comparing most of the pizza houses within a 4 mile distance from Rebel Bites, the cost ranges from 5 to 16 cents per square inch. Although the pizza quality for Rebel Bites is good, I believe the portion size should grow a little to bring the cost per square inch to between 7.5 to 10.5 cents per square inch. I have dined at Rebel Bites several times since they have opened and found their food and service to be exceptional. The last pizza I had was the Arugula and Prosciutto which was well prepared, a nice delicate thin edible crust with the proper amount of marinara sauce TO NOT MAKE THE PIZZA SOGGY. The only other factor one could consider is parking may be an issue. If you ride a bike or can take the bus to downtown, then problem solved. If you are taking a car, then go on a day when street parking is not a problem (avoid Grand Pix week, Beach festival, Brazil fest, Pride week, etc...) 4 out of 5 stars? hmmm maybe this business is paying yelp like many do. Or most of the reviewers don't know what good Pizza is. Maybe I was too safe ordering the simple pepperoni pizza? Anyways... I was excited when the previous Pizza business seemed to be remodeled and expanded. It's in my neighborhood so I thought I had found a great new local pizza joint. NOT Do you remember being in elementary school and eating those rectangle shaped pizzas for lunch? Yeah, this is exactly the kind of pepperoni pizza that you will find here. I warned you. Do yourself the favor and go to Canadian Pizza or even the Garden Cafe not too far away. If anything go to Vons across the street and get a frozen pizza. You will have better luck as far as taste goes.

Loved this place. It was a 30 second walk from my house and it did not disappoint! They have a wide selection of beers, I ordered a flight and tried 4 yummy brews. My husband and I ordered pizza and wings, which were cheap and tasty. He was curious about the sammiches and ordered the Karl Marx, loved it. We went on a Friday night and they have live music and it was awesome. This place is young, hip and laid back. Would absolutely come back and will be bringing our friends here.

There are a few things I like about this place and some I don't so it only gets 3 stars. I think their food it good- the melts are a little too greasy for me- but the pizzas have always been good. I feel like the menu is limited and extremely carb focused. I like that they have a good selection of craft beers on tap. I would like them to get more creative with the menu but I know that isn't always easy. But there are so many breweries and options out there so why go with the obvious? Perhaps, that is what the owner believes will sell. I get that. What I don't like about a place or business is stinginess. If you nickel and dime me then I probably won't be your customer for long. Although I feel that the prices on the beers are definitely higher than they should be, what irks me is their new 'rule' on samples. One thing about craft beer is the culture, and that culture is about sharing and trying new things. If you are going to limit me to a tiny shot glass of a sample and only 3 per table then you obviously don't get it. In all honestly, it was tough and frustrating to have such a small sample and try to decide what I wanted to drink. This, for me personally, was a HUGE turn off for me to want to come back. Finally, I like the feel of the place. The owner has hung up photos from travels around the world... I think he made the place feel much warmer than the previous owner. It's a place you could grab a beer and food for cheap during happy hour.

My wife and I stumbled across this little gem on a recent outing. What a find! First, the food: an excellent, diverse, eclectic menu consisting of interesting and unique twists on standard food. We had the Proscuitto / Arugula Pie. The flavor was very unique, with proscuitto under a bed of lightly fried arugula. We also had the Coffee Rubbed Spare Ribs. A note here: DO NOT MISS THESE!!!!! Hands down, the best ribs I have eaten. Marinated in a signature spicy sauce and then rubbed outside with coffee grounds, the flavors perfectly compliment each other. We devoured them. Next, the Beer: What a fantastic selection! As a Pacific Northwest native, this is very important to me. Two full pages of local, exotic, domestic, and imported craft beers on tap. I recommend the Speakeasy and Hennepin ales. Last, the vibe: Although I think they could go for a bit more relaxing lighting (it was a bit "white bright", the overall decor and vibe is relaxed, loud, and fun. We went on a Saturday night and there was live music...not loud obnoxious hard rock or rap, but an ecletic blend of bluegrass, indie, etc. Per our waiter, the have a wide variety of music, so try a few different nights. Overall, highly recommended. We'll be back!

Lets Quentin Tarantino this review. I'm stuffed, still eating leftovers, and craving another Hemp beer ::cue the music:: Here's how it all started. I explained my love and affection for Amber style beers and was recommended a Hemp Beer. I couldn't have been more pleased with my servers recommendation. The beer was dark, not too bitter with a caramel/brown sugar finish and nice smooth bite. I have the sudden urge to play hacky sack and put on some Phish records but I digress. Verdict= Hell yea!! The sandwich my server suggested was labeled the Karl B. Marx Steak Sammich (Yes, Sammich). Tender marinated rib-eye with a picked sweet onion kraut that was as fresh as can be and topped off with a spicy pesto, jalapenos, and arugula. It had a very BÃ¡nh mÃ¬-esque flavor profile to it. Sweet and tangy, with a lasting impression of zest and spice. It's always a good sign when you're picking up the rogue ingredients that have fallen off your sandwich onto your plate. It's the restaurant equivalent of McDonald's "cheese paper," get back here you!= Hell yea! Unfortunately for me my mother taught me manners, and tonight they kept me from finishing my meal. As advantageous as being one of the only customers in a restaurant can be in terms of customer service, it was also my downfall. The thought of having my attractive server catch me eating my delicious meal like a bulldog devouring his Christmas chew toy is enough for me to take a few delicious bites and carry the rest home in my appropriately named doggy bag. I was treated with outstanding customer service, suggested a menu fit for a king all at a reasonable price. Long Beach surprises me with every bite, more accurately, Rebel Bite. Nice staff, odd location tucked away in the middle of DT Long Beach. Gastropub may be a bit of a stretch for this joint. Maybe I'm just not a big fan of 'Dirty Sketty' or Asian Pizzas yet, but I'll keep it under consideration. They also have an array of fancy burgers and melts. I had the Karl Marx and it was ok, but not memorable. Big name for a simple sandwich. The owners use to have a food truck and it has that feel to it. The tables inside are kinda like the tables that food trucks might set up and throw a plastic tablecloth over. I was there around 5 PM on a Friday and it looked like they were going to have some live music crammed in there....maybe they are a late night joint. Very quiet while I was there, just one other table. Not sure if they pink slipped the food truck, but in order to be more successful they need to lose the food truck vibe.

Great little gastro pub! Very casual ambiance, lots of seating for large groups, excellent service. Our server was very knowledgeable about the craft beer selection and the menu. We ordered the Karl B. Marx melt and the Funghi Burger. The Karl Marx was AMAZING, and the Funghi burger is good if you like a funky mushroom kick. It has a VERY strong mushroom/herb flavor, so if you aren't a fan, avoid this. The garlic fries are a must have, and the 4 beer sampler flute is great if you want to try a bunch of the craft beers for a low price. Overall, I recommend this place, and will definitely be back.

Another place that expresses the uniqueness of Long Beach residents. I love these spots. They have great people watching window seats that provide entertainment that only downtown LB residents can offer. We ordered pizza, salad, beers, and a sandwich. Everything was so good the even though we were on our bikes, we took to go boxes for our leftovers. Our service was very slow and our food took forever, but I didn't want to give them less stars due to the fact that they were pretty new when we visited this place and I only saw two employees the entire time. I'm sure it was just a fluke experience.

Been here a couple times. Great atmosphere, typically great food, but service is pretty slow when you sit in. Also, the last time I got wings to go. That was the first time I had their wings, and they were SO small. One of the drummettes couldn't have measured more than half an inch from top to bottom. On wings that small you don't get much meat, that kinda ruins the experience. The sauce can only do so much. Loved the sauce, was really disappointed in the actual meat. Hoping they get larger, meatier wings to really make this particular dish perfect. I'll order them again sometime to see if maybe this was a fluke. Other than this and the slow service I like the place a lot, and neither of these issues are bad enough that I would stop eating here.

Second time in and the service was still a little slow. Seems like both nights it was one guy running the food, taking orders and getting the beers. Seems like he could use some help, but he was very hospitable when we had his attention. Unfortunately, they dont do the squid ink pizza anymore or the vongole pasta, which we wanted to try both of, but never the mind. We opted for their medium pizza and wing combo, for around $20 and we made a good decision! Bacon and garlic on the pizza, and they even made it with a white sauce request! It wasnt on the menu, but the guys whipped it up and it was really good. The wings were hot in temperature but there was no spice for me. Never the less, they were crunchy, large and juicy! I was a little disappointed in the beginning because of the discontinuance of the items I wanted, but I was happy I tried the other dishes. If youre looking for a relaxed atmosphere, good eats, new drafts to try, and decent prices, Rebel Bites is a 5 star.

I'd like to give them a 3.5 for this last visit but enjoyed it enough where I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with a 4. Came with a couple people and we split 2 pizzas and the bf ordered the chili-ghetti. I really enjoyed the Funghi pizza (my choice and it was delicious!!) and I feel it is the kind of pizza that can get me to have just ONE more slice even when I'm full because it is so good. I particularly enjoyed the mix of the caramelized onions, garlic, and just enough blue cheese to give it flavor without being overboard... of course deliciously combined with wild mushrooms. On the other hand, the vegetarian pizza was quite boring... nothing special nor did it have a special taste better than other restaurants. I had no problem stopping myself with that one. I only had a bite of the chili-ghetti but it had a nice flavor with a slight kick of spicy.

I have to say that with the recent changes to the menu, I am not completely happy with Rebel Bite. Sure, the pizza is good (they have a new chef). However, the other dishes (antipasta, pasta, sandwiches, etc.) are not the best. They list antipasta, but there is no antipasta with cold cuts (salami, mortadella, capicola, etc.). So, I have to be upset about that. Then, the only pasta dishes they have are spaghetti. There is no penne, linguine, or other variations of short and long pasta. So, that's another bad hit. Then, they have melts that have some interesting combinations. I don't think that I would put tomato sauce on a cheese melt. So, the combination of flavors is not the greatest. So now, I must say that I miss the menu of Pizza Pi. Plus, they have lunch specials but they have no lunch special that includes just one slice of pizza. They are pushing you to order an entire personal pizza. They could sell a slice of pizza, salad and drink for $6 (about what it costs a la carte). However, they force you get the personal pizza and spend $10. The one saving grace is that they have a good happy hour. Understand that they have two opening periods: 11am-3pm and 5pm-11pm. When they open at 5pm, the happy hour starts. That allows for some savory choices. So, this has become more of a good pub rather than good eating establishment.... a sad change of events.

Food took forever to come out. Like 40 minutes. I would complain more about it but apparently they had a party of like 30 in the private room over. But still, my parents and I and another table of 4 were the only other patrons in the place besides the party. I had their grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions with garlic fries. The garlic fries were passable. Pretty much just chopped garlic on top of fries. It needed some garlic oil at least and parsley flakes for color! The grilled cheese was pretty good but idk, nothing I'd drive out to Long Beach for. Salad pizza, unique but meh. The dressing kept separating and really didn't have a lot of flavor.

Awesome happy hour deals, all craft beers 50% off! Deals get sweeter when u add a pizza or burger + beer. Had the sun dried tomato burger which was pretty tasty and large. On Fridays they have a live band which adds to the ambience. The day I went the Band wad pretty chill and not super loud which allows u to still hear conversations at your table.

Since my last review the food and the service have only gotten better, which would have been hard to believe about 5 months ago(bc it was already amazing). The PIG PEN FRIES are the garlic Fries topped with the same amazing Korean style beef, a house made wasabi sauce and a healthy helping of cheese!!! These my friends, are fries at their best!! Now to their Burgers!!! These are also new and equally as delicious as the Pig Pen fries. House ground beef, house made buns ( made from pizza dough) and great flavor combinations will not disappoint!!! I had the Fungi burger and it was amazing!! The blu cheese and mushrooms and that sauce were a perfectly balanced combo!!! I look forward to this every time i come here!!!

6 stars because the service was so friendly and accommodating. Servers can be great at what they do but it's refreshing not to get a the typical server cheesiness. Daniel was really great, especially to me 7 month old son and nutty professor dad, who is a picky executive chef and educator, all at one table. We got the kale pizza and loved it. They have Mexican Cola in liter bottles, great beer selection and live music on weekend nights. The food is delicious, and it's a small place you can feel welcome. Just bummed the blueberry burger isn't on the menu anymore!

Came in for Sunday dinner with my friend, who lives in the area. It wasn't packed at all so we got a tall table by the frount. They have a great beer selcetion and even let you taste test if you are unsure. THe decore is very cute, casual and hip at the same time. They were playing 20s and 30s music when we were there. Batrooms were cleans, as well as the resturatant. I oredered the Tuna Melt, it wasn't the best one I have ever had, but it was still good. came with a side of torilla chips. I would like to come back here and try their pizza. Also! great happy hour!

This place has some of the best service I have ever had. The guys there were welcoming & friendly. The menu is anything but boring. A blueberry burger on waffels? Heard it was the best. I think the worst part was that I came here after eating already so I only got a beer but my date got the Funghi burger and hey - smelled good to me! If you're in Long Beach, you need to stop in and definitely don't copy me, actually eat something! When I go back and EAT, I'll tack on that 5th star for sure.

For me, this place is the best example of the gastropub boom done right. Good beer food and great beer. Nothing less. Its approachable, not pretentious or gimmicky. The beer list is excellent - every beer a proud example of american craft beer. As a beer geek, I guarantee that Rebel Bite's offerings won't disappoint. The food is filling, delicious and goes excellent with beer. The pig pen fries are the must order dish. Fries alone are good but these have korean beef, cheese, wasabi cream sauce and onions. Pair it with a beer and you have an awesome meal on its own or the perfect start to a night ob the town. The pizzas are great, the burgers, sandwiches and ribs have no fault. The must order dessert (pear empanaada with ice cream) is the perfect dessert to end a great meal. Not too heavy but oh so satisfying. Really, I can go on and on and on about how much I love this place but in summary: Great beer with even greater food to go with it. You really and truly don't need anything else for an awesome lunch or dinner. You really don't.

Delighted to have a place so close that serves a Tripel! Good beer selection, brilliant corkage of only 6$. Friendly staff. I liked the pizza a lot, the cheese on the pizza is especially good. The spaghetti however wasn't spicy, it was too sweet and the meatballs were minuscule.

When it comes to finding a neighborhood pizza place with a trendy twist, then this is the place to be. It is a walking, biking, driving-friendly joint. Previously Pizza Pie, but WAY better. My fiance and I ordered one of their pizza deals - 1 medium 2 topping pizza + 1 specialty pizza for $20, a couple of beers, and and garlic fries. Their style of pizza is thin crust and boy was it done well. The pizzas were full of flavor. Although they forgot to make our garlic fries, the server was able to rush the order and also gave it to us on the house. The service is great. You are greeted by the server who immediately gives you some water. Their selection of beer is great and goes well with their menu. I can't wait to come back again and try something else on the menu.

Oh Yelp, you provide such a fantastic engine that I cannot deny the following narrative (after 3+ years of incactivity), this is how frustrated I may seem. As a devout addict of pizza pi and their genuine ability to be flexible with an Italian menu, I feel that it is of utter importance that I share this review. Years ago, I was there with a simple review of that prior establishment and was genuinely pleased with the outcome. Tonight, though, let me school you: I sauntered in, seeking merely a beverage and a few slices of pizza. This product was easily obtained given the goals of the previous business space (that I witnessed via development and city approval) and your current business plan. This spot was quick to develop and prosper. I was optimistic. While I loved your take on decor, and the genuine attempt to modernize the property, I was totally ignored via table and phone (sorry, we are so busy) as I tried to order both drink and food from your establishment while waving my menu back and forth without any help. Your staff chose to acknowldege a larger party that arrived after me. As I left, very dramatically tossing your menu to the ground, I witnessed that party given "cesarian" treatment and was superbly disappointed. You'll probably just blame this on me though...right? Upon leaving, I crossed the street to Rocsoe's. That staff both recognized the history and presence of my being (oh, I'm sorry that I didn't have short white man shorts, a long beard, an "LB" hat from the college, and a quick attempt to pick on anyone else in the neighborhood that actually pays property taxes and puts up with grand prix parking issues) and provided a great product within 20 minutes of my arrival. I don't care what you put on your pizza (squid ink?) and how great it may seem. I will never be back until you can acknowledge the essence of the city that surrounds you, respect that, and provide a product to prove your dedication. Until then, I will spread the word and encourage locals to remain loyal to businesses that understand the area, appreciate its history, and support its current practices. "Rebel Bite" (so amazingly ironic), you don't fit the bill. Sincerely, guy who has been "elite" for like four years and really couldn't care less if his yelp thingie is deleted.

I've been ordering Rebel Bite regularly for months now, and the pizza has consistently been well prepped and delicious. You could order almost anything and be satisfied, with the exception of the blueberry burger, which was sort of bizarre and gross and the chili hamburger that's always been overly greasy and way too rich for such a large entree. The carne asada fries with wasabi sauce are always tasty, as are the ribs. Rebel Bite is a go-to for me, plus it's open late!

Terrific (though short) happy hour. Seriously a fantastic deal for a personal pizza and a craft beer. Pizza is good, what I would call California artisan pizza. If you think Dominoes is good you may not like what they serve up. Great craft beer selection.

Recently tried the gorgonzola & pear pie and it was fantabulous IF you follow these instructions three: 1.Take big bites(if not you'll get either a sweet pear or salty gorgonzola taste as opposed to the lovely combination of both), 2. Chew slowly(so the flavors mesh and whatnot, tripping your tastebuds the f' out)and 3. Toss on some red pepper flakes to add a lil heat. -Took away a star because it was muggy in that mug. Went around 4 in the afternoon and the ventilation system AKA wide open door just wasn't cutting it. Granted, it was a warm day but it's gonna get HOT in the next couple of months and if they don't do something about it people are gonna walk in and walk right back out without trying the bomb ass pizza.

My boyfriend and I came to Rebel Bite because of the praised yelp reviews. I was happily pleased we visited. The first thing I noticed was that it's a small restaurant. Yet instead of feeling crowded with people I found the ambiance to be similar to a home. The food was comforting too and amazingly good. We shared the chef's special salmon plate and the pigpen fries. YOU GOT TO TRY THE PIGPEN FRIES! The service was perfect as well. I liked that the server was passionate about the food he would described to us. Great food, a nice vibe, super friendly people, a great beer selection, and a big TV to watch my soccer game...we're definitely coming back.

Rebel Bite is a great addition to Long Beach. I came here to celebrate my birthday with about 10 friends, they have this semi-private room which holds larger groups that they call the "Map Room". I absolutely loved that room, the huge wall atlas and various globes hanging above is really cool. Service was awesome, they have an excellent selection of craft brews. I had the Karl B. Marx melt which was really good. Sweet, with a little heat. And the garlic fries were so addicting! They were fresh and crispy. I'm glad I have friends that share as I was able to taste quite a few items off their menu. Octopus stew - tasty but a little too spicy for me. Dirty Sketti - again very tasty, but the heat was kind of overwhelming. I'm not sure if the spice level is a running theme on their menu as I don't remember making note of it. Even the little side of cole slaw seemed to have some heat to it. Garlic Chilli Fries - yum!! but pretty heavy. Margherita pizza - cheese was good, kinda wished the toppings weren't so big. but it was still good Snowball Melt - again spicy but good. I would definitely come back, they have a great Happy Hour. Parking can be a P.I.T.A though.

Found this place while we were trying to find Pizza Pi because someone told us about it. Guess that place closed down but we got something amazing. Awesome staff, awesome food, good beer. I love the feel of the place too reminded me a lot of the places I used to eat at when I lived in Italy. Weird since this is not an italian place. The habanero chicken fried sandwich has to be the best sandwich I've ever had. They seem to run out early though because the first time i had it I was told it was the last one (around 12pm) and the second time they had none left (3pm). Tried the Karl Marx today it was pretty good too. My bf had the pork sandwich (forgot the name) and he liked it. We've loved the beers they suggest. We live really close by and walk here. Will tell all my friends and family about it because this place should not be hidden. Place seems to play on the book Animal Farm, if you do not know the book you'll just think the place is weird.

Cute place. Wait staff were super nice. They had a good selection of pizza, but it did remind me of of food truck food.. meaning, it was heavy and rich. Had a fennel and sausage pizza, which was really tasty, however, since I haven't eaten that kind of food in over 2 months, seriously, all I could taste was butter. So, not necessarily a bad thing (they brush the crust in butter before they bake it I believe), but also not really what I was looking for. If they came up with a gluten free crust and didn't brush it with butter, I would definitely come back and give it another try. They also had a great beer selection... but not so much with the wine.

There is a lot to like about Rebel Bite! Firstly, I appreciate its uniqueness. Unless one were specifically told, one would not necessarily guess that the owner 1) made the table tops 2) made the frames for the 3) photos he took in Italy which he had printed on some special material ... and there's more unique stuff to look at and read ... old stuff, which I like quite a bit. I do not eat the meat and I do my best to avoid the dairy, so, the salad pie is good for me. It is super delicious and must be tried! Delicious! The garlic fries are not for wimps. They are salty, garlic-y, and, well, pretty greasy, but very tasty, indeed! This all goes well with, of course, a cold, delicious beer, and at Rebel Bite, one have a lovely selection. The servers (at least the ones I've dealt with) know these beers well and can give you not only good descriptions of each, but wee little tastes of them from a little tiny cup that makes you feel like a giant when sampling. Ha! It seems that the owner continues to come up with new ideas for the restaurant, the food menu, and the beverage menu. That, or others are ... maybe staff is invested to that degree that they are affecting changes? I suspect there will be continued improvements all-around - especially in response to feedback from customers; I think that the staff and owner actually care about the reputation here. Oh, to boot, they have live entertainment there sometimes ... music of a variety of sorts, as well as comedy! Who knew? It's certainly worth checking out. Regarding the "socialist" thing ... it's 2013, So. Cal ... I think it's ok to tolerate some levity about it all in general. Sure, as Robert P. says, they are not socialist prices, but political, social, and pop culture, in my humble opinion, is "there" for us all to exploit, I suppose - as long as it is truly "doing no harm." I believe that the owner is innocent here ... Oh, and if you check out the facebook page, the owner poses trivia questions one can answer. The first three people who answer correctly earn themselves a free pint of one's choosing! Not bad.

Came here for happy hour on a Saturday. We both had a melt, my husbands with pork and mine with beef. They were very good except for the fact that most of my meat were VERY chewy. But taste and price was good. We also had a side of garlic fries which is just yummy. My husband had a pint beer which he really liked. Staff were friendly and attentive and we will be back for another 'happy hour' soon. Overall, good value for money.

Went here last night with a date and we had a great time! This former food truck-turned restaurant is designed with new ideas that break the regular parameters of your usual pizza parlor. I love the ones that want to be different! We shared a plate of their Garlic Cheese Fries and my dinner mate asked them for their Wasabi Sauce on the side. Usually the fries are tossed with it, as our server recommended. I tossed some of them in the sauce on my own plate and was very pleased with the results! Not spicy whatsoever, and a very interesting flavor that blended well with the melted cheese and incredible marinated beef. (Now I have to stop and point your attention to their menu on their website, whenever they mention "marinated beef" it's the same beef you would find at a Korean BBQ, Bulgogi, one of my absolute favorites! Sweet, juicy, amazing.) We shared a Karl B Marx pie which is "beef kui beef (short ribs) marinated in Korean bbq style, fresh mozarella, caramelized onions, basil leaves" [quote taken from their website]. Wonderful and filling despite the thin crust! I wish I was a beer guy (I have tried so many times to like beer, but we just don't get along), because they also have an extensive beer menu as well. Bring your friends!

I think this place is having it's "we're brand new and we have growing pains" stage. It's newly opened, and has potential, but there are some kinks. I purchased the deal on LS. So, the man and I decided to go here for lunch on a Sunday. We were the only one's in the joint, probably because everyone else in the LBC was at a bar (or home) watching the superbowl. So, let's review the growing pains... GP #1 - One server. Sure, this seemed appropriate since it was empty...but, what would have happened if a bunch of people jumped in the mix? She was very friendly and accommodating, but not so knowledgeable. When we asked a question about what an acronym meant on the beer menu, she didn't know and had to ask. I think if the management really wants to advertise the craft beers as a main selling point, they need to make sure their staff are up to speed. GP #2 - The atmosphere/interior. It was kind of weird. Kind of hipster, Kind of kitch. Kind of confused. We sat at a table by the window that was really wobbly. Most of the tables in the dining room are for like 6-10 people. And, there's one TV....way in the back corner. I'm wondering if they should have an actual bar in there, too? Anyway, there are improvements that could be made. GP #3- The food. I had a mushroom melt with fries. It was good, a little rich for my taste and the shrooms were a little chewy. I don't normally get the veg options, so you tell me...are they supposed to be chewy (marinated portabellas)? Overall, it was a little greasy. My husband had a steak sandwich with all kinds of spicy stuff on it. It was spicy, and a little heard to eat (I had a bite). I think if you're doing a hot sandwich, you should just skip the arugula. And, there seem to be a lot of it. We had a few beers and, even with the LS, our bill was pretty high. So, I think there's potential here. But, I wanna see if they can work out the kinks and then maybe we'll go back.

I headed to Rebel Bite shortly after hearing they'd opened in Long Beach after operating as a food truck throughout LA. I went in thinking it would be fun to try some place new but didn't expect too much, and walked out with a new favorite spot in Long Beach. Great beer, innovative menu, and a few adventurous offerings are all available in a really great atmosphere. When you walk in you feel like you've stepped into an unassuming Italian restaurant like the ones they use for a scene of some TV show set in New York where 2 people are on a cheap date. It's got a Mom-N-Pop been-here-for-decades family-run feel to it... and the place is ridiculously charming for it. The atmosphere isn't just charming though... it's a bit deceitful (but in a great way)! Once you get the menu you know you're in for a treat. There's an international fusion vibe that runs throughout the entire menu, but classic pizza-joint offerings for the less adventurous so that there's really something for everyone. The beer selection is great if not a little hops-heavy with a few too many offerings you can get at the various other craft brew places in town (Congregation, Beachwood, and a few of the wine bars for example). Still, they do rotate their taps and keep a great enough selection that most beer-geeks will find something they know and love to order. The good : Unique Menu, Atmosphere, Service, price The ok : Quality beer selection The it-could-get-better: Considering the innovative menu, having a beer selection that can stand out would be a major bonus, but it's not the kind of thing that should make you think twice about going! Also (and to be expected) : Parking is what you'd expect for Broadway between Linden and Atlantic...but deal with it or even better, ride your bike!

I had high hopes for this place since it had good reviews, but I was disappointed. I don't like beer very much so I was hoping they'd have a cider or fruity beer...nope. The waiter was nice enough to bring me two beer samples to try. Then he couldn't remember which beer was which so ended up pouring 2 full glasses of both beers for me to try again...wow. The garlic fries were good on top but were swimming in a pool of grease 2/3 of the way in. Ordered the veggie pizza thinking, hey sweet potatoes on a pizza, that's something I've never tried! But it was just huge chunks of flavorless vegetables on a cheese pizza. Nothing special. Won't be trying this again.

First time we went the ribs were good but a little tough. Beer was awesome. Salad and grilled sandwich were good too. Could have had a but more cheese was a bit dry. Service was too notch. Second time we met some friends and decided to all order and share. The fennel pizza was amazing! The short rib pizza was very good. The bolognese pasta dish was super good too. The service was good but a little slow - come on Rebel Bite - you cannot expect one server to cover the entire place when it is full! Daily happy hour is nice - $3.00 beers and half off their melts.
