This place is delicious my family and I eat here for dinner about twice per month. The chicken teriyaki is great the sauce is good. I also love the sandwiches they have beef and chicken. The sushi is also very fresh and yummy too. I always order the Mexico City roll and my kids Order the California rolls. If you get the bento boxes you get a little sample of everything: the teriyaki, ca rolls, and tempura. The bento boxes are a good idea if you can't decide what you want. Customer service is always fast and friendly. You can eat there or order to go. Family atmosphere!

Food here is pretty tasty, I am impressed with the teriyaki since it is not just too sweet as some of the run of the mill teriyaki joints serve. I normally get the chicken teriyaki bowl for lunch that comes with a small salad and a miso soup. The chicken is freshly grilled and has a good amount of meat served with the bowl. Rice is well down and never too mushy or dried out. For the low price of $6.49 I'm thinking its a great deal. I will surely need to come back and try some of their other stuff since the place always has customers in it and looks like the food is pretty good. Prices are reasonable but I think the lunch specials are the best deal there.

This place sucks plain and simple. Went in a few days ago wasn't planning on leaving a review but they need to be told. Food is average some things are over priced what i didnt like was the customer service went in around lunch hour (i would say after 2pm) and the girl at the counter was rude and unwelcoming. Plus the cooks we're in their lunch break they made rude remarks when i placed an order. They went straight from eating to making my food didn't even wash their hands!! I got my order to go and no utensils we're included. Order was messy and cold food was put with hot. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Well i really wanted to like this place because it's right around the corner from my house and i just love me some good teriyaki.. So upon entering and reading the menu I noticed that the prices are pretty much the same as every other teri spot which is a good thing,, i order chicken and beef combo and cal roll and total comes out to $15 bucks so im thinking hope this is good and here i am now eating food .. Roll is ok nothing special kinda bland but then again I wasn't expecting much so no big deal .. But what i noticed was that the meat in the teri is all kinda chewy so basically cheap meat topped with somewhat funky kinda teriyaki sauce .. So all in all so-so food with a high price oh yeah forgot a soda so $2 more now my dinner cost me like $17 and some change kinda want a lil better quality for that price !!
(3)Leighla K.
I eat here all the time. The food and service is always good. My favorite things to eat here are a #58 (tempura California roll) & a #37 (bbq short ribs) with double macaroni :)
(5)Brittany E.
Love this place the sushi is really great and the chicken and teriyaki bowls are just as great!
(5)Cindy K.
Quick service, large platters, tasty food! I like the macaroni salad and crunch roll! The udon soup is quite tasty, too! For light eaters, the BBQ Salmon Salad is delicious.
(4)Oyuki G.
Love this place I have been coming here for many years, can't complain of anything huge portions and great price!
(5)Glenn A.
Wow been eating there for years and was usually happy new management or workers now rude and lied over phone will never go in again.
(1)Chris D.
Used to think this place was the best.. now i see how overpriced and underquality this really is. ... do yourself a favor.. drive up woodruff a lil bit more and check out kokoos terryaki grill! You will be glad you did.. same price and waaaaaayyyy better quality!
(2)Esgar H.
I love this place me and my girlfriend are normal customers all their food is very tasty we have tried many items on their menu, tonight we got the avocado salad and salmon salad along with spring rolls their food is always fresh and taste great also their price cannot be beat!
(5)Judy S.
This is a small place. Kind of almost hidden. I love the food selection. I like how I can order anything from sushi to short ribs. The food is absolutely delicious! Last time I was here I ordered the short ribs. It was so good. It comes with rice, macaroni salad, and salad. The serving was huge! The only cons I have for this place is the size. It's quite small. But every time I come here I always seem to find a table, so it's not too bad. It's seems a little dirty on the inside also to be honest. I used the restroom and it kind of made me want to barf a little. With the cons though I probably will be back eventually since the food is really good.
(3)Chris Q.
Great food, great atmosphere. The girls are great. Nice portions. Everything tastes fresh.

This place is great! I've lived less than 10 minutes away from here my whole life and I finally decided to try it. My boyfriend and I couldn't decide what to eat until we thought of teriyaki. So of course we yelped it and California Sushi & Teriyaki popped up. At first we were a little unsure because we wanted to make sure that we were getting a good amount of food for a reasonable price. Well we did! We each ordered a teriyaki bowl, one chicken and one beef, which come with a salad that has super yummy dressing and a miso soup. We only paid about $12 total maybe a little more because of tax but it was worth it! The portions were a perfect size, the food was delicious and it hit the spot. It was also filling enough to not be hungry anymore but not deathly filling where it feels like a brick in your stomach. They also have sushi rolls which we have yet to try. At first I was a tad disappointed because the girl only wanted to give us 1 teriyaki sauce but its not even needed. The bowls are marinated with a perfect amount of sauce that if you add more it is overload! We came around 7:30pm and the wait was about 5-8 minutes. My only negative was the fact that the miso soup wasn't filled up all the way, only about 3/4. California Sushi & Teriyaki you are my new favorite yaki spot!

March 6th 2015, We go into the restaurant and there is a nice amount of people. This makes me feel like they have cleaned up the service and quality of the food. Well unfortunately I have to say that I am very disappointed with everything. Food has gone down hill. Chicken Teriyaki is now very thin and not like the way it was. We ordered only the Chicken Teriyaki as my kids don't eat all of the Miso Soup and Salad. Even though we ordered just that, she still charged me for the Chicken Bowl ($0.50 more no big deal) but still gave us the Soup and Salad. When I got my Chicken teriyaki bowl, my chicken was pink in the middle. I told them that my chicken was undercooked, so the put all of my chicken back onto the grill. Needless to say when I finally got my chicken teriyaki back, it was cooked, but now over cooked since the thin parts of the chicken was cooked correctly the first time. I also ordered Spicy Tuna rolls. I figured this was a bit difficult to mess up. Well I received my rolls, now much smaller then before and quite a mess, like the cooks did not know how to make them. Taste, well when you ask for spicy you figure it will has a bit of a kick. Having to add more Sriracha on top of it to give it a bit of a kick tells me there is not much if any with in the Tuna. After discussing with the wife, we are not going back unless things change. Even my 6 year old son gave it a thumbs down and he is not a picky eater.

I didn't like this place, but I supposed I should have expected it due to it being a fast food sushi place. Don't get me wrong, the place was clean and the food came out quick, but as for quality-not a fan. I ordered the Super Maki Special and streamed Gyoza, both of which I had to make myself eat since I just spent money on it. The special came with your average Cali roll, Crunch roll and Spicy Tuna roll. The rolls had too much rice. The crab mix had too much mayo in it. Why the cucumber pieces were so big and uneven in the rolls? I do not know.. The tuna smelled and tasted fishy. I wish I didn't come here for lunch. The "steamed" gyoza was super soggy and the edges were still tough/crispy. It had that freezer burn taste and the inside was oozing out, which I don't think is supposed to happen. I hope other items are better, and I imagine they must be because a lot of people seem to like this place according to the reviews. Maybe I went on a bad day. The crunch roll was edible, the crunchies and drizzled sauce, as well as soy sauce and wasabi, may have masked any unwanted flavors.
(2)Laura N.
The employees were eating pizza while cooking our food, you could see them having a whole feast in the back. It made me and my mom feel super uncomfortable especially when she is a certified food handler. We ended up leaving and just getting Taco Bell instead because of that.
(1)David D.
The sushi is not bad for this area. Quick and easy ordering process.
(4)Lily P.
The fish is definitely NOT fresh, I wouldn't recommend it. Besides that, the bowls & crunch roll are great.
(3)Adriane r.
We eat here more often then we should! But that's not because its irresistible; it's simply because we love sushi and there is no other sushi place close enough to work!! Every time I eat here I swear its the last....this is seriously the last time. They have very few sushi roll options and they are chinsy with the seafood. They make the rolls using as little seafood as possible!! Probably due to the owner hanging over their shoulders micromanaging the ingredients! Case in point; I ordered a $10 spider roll and got about 2 tablespoons of soft shell crab!! I mean really?! Literally posting pics!! I'm done with this place!
(2)Ben E.
This is a great very casual place for a light sishi and teriyaki menu. Not light as in "diet", but a decent selection of popular items and not the confusion of a large expanded menu. Its the kind of place where you walk up to the counter where they have pictures of most items on a large wall menu. You place your order and a waitress brings it to your teble. Drinks are self serve at at beverage bar like at Carls Jr. The food is well above average and a good value at family friendly prices. I reccomend the Crunch Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and the Salmon Teriyaki plate. But the Beef or Chicken Teriyaki bowls are no slouch either. The soup is excellent too, I highly recommend it especially on a cold day when your really hungry, the Miso bowl is HUGE! With all the good and some pricey shushi paces around, this is nice alternative, especially if you have kids that are not fond fo sushi, they have kids teriyaki bowls here and their macaroni salad is awesome!
(5)John G.
One of my favorite sushi places. Very Affordable, Always Fresh. Great Sushi Rolls!
(5)Cori N.
Love the chicken and rice bowl! It's more than enough food! The salad and soup is a nice touch!
(4)David L.
Try Rascals Teriyaki by CSULB or Golden Bowl on Atlantic because this place is not what it use to be. Never ordered sushi. Saw the chef cut open a vacuum tight plastic package with red tuna in it. So right off I knew it wasn't fresh. Their chicken teriyaki use to be on point. My last visit gave me the exact opposite of what I order regularly. Small portion and dry would be my chief complaints and how they charge extra for little things like ginger and teriyaki. They didn't even have hot sauce anymore.
(1)Gen N.
There is a "tips" section I wish I read before I came back here! One lady rants about how the NEW OWNERS messed up everything and I couldn't agree more! I use to come here for my lunch break. Came recently for lunch and the same snobby waitress was there. What wasn't the same was the food. Chicken bowl: Dry and small amount of chicken. Rice undercooked. Was my favorite before because the chicken was moist and there use to be enough for left overs. Rainbow roll: shouldn't have ate it when I saw how pale the tuna and albacore was. Rice was hard and seaweed was chewy. For some reason I dined here again. Old coworkers wanted to eat at "the spot" even after telling them what happened. We had dinner and everyone was disappointed with their food. We could of easily asked for our money back but what kept us there was how empty it was so we took advantage and chatted the whole time instead of cramming ourselves in the small Starbucks next door. We left when who we think may be the new owner started staring at us! I also need to mention they charge $1 for teriyaki if you need more than one haha nice California Sushi and TERIYAKI!?
(1)Pam W.
Nice little sushi and teriyaki place. Casual atmosphere, friendly staff. Good rolls. Gyoza is good too. We eat here occasionally but usually order the same things.. Philadelphia roll, Mexico City roll, tempura and gyoza. A couple times disappointed because we ordered gyoza with our rolls to go, got home to find edamame instead of gyoza.
(3)Oz B.
So I ordered to go and asked if everything was there and the lady said yes. When I get home order was completely wrong. Guess it was my fault for not checking the bag. Smh. When I get back she asked if I wanted a refund before even apologizing. I told her I just wanted the food. Ended up waiting forever.
(1)Debbie C.
My first time here had shrimp tempura n tempura California rolls so yummy! Definitely recommend, will be coming back again!
(5)Toy S.
I come here often during the work week....They have the best egg rolls EVER. And they make their lunch fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..........goooo here at least once a week. I also get the tempura spicy tuna. As history dictates, i will be here next week, and the week after that, and the week after that!
(5)Taylor M.
I ate here on 9/28 and came down with the absolute worst case of FOOD POISONING I have ever had. Either the fish was toxic, or somebody is not washing their hands. I knew as I took the first bite that something wasn't right, I could barely finish two pieces of spicy tuna and the seaweed salad before I had to stop. 8 hours later, having eaten nothing else that day, began 36 hours of projectile vomiting, dizziness, shaking, everything. This is my first-ever Yelp review because I feel obligated to spread the word. I've called the establishment to report this, and the woman I spoke to clearly didn't want to hear about it. She took my number and promised to have her boss return my call. We'll see if that happens. Hopefully the restaurant can make a change and raise their quality and employee standards, but unless and until they do, PLEASE value your health and avoid this place entirely.
(1)Lupe P.
I came in with my family of 4 and all our expectations were met even for the little ones. This is a great spot for good food and good service. Even for the picky eaters... :)
(5)Mary W.
I love the staff and I love the food! Although the menu isn't as overwhelming as you would expect some sushi places to be it had a little bit of everything. I always order the Philadelphia roll and the Tempura Spicy Tuna roll...delicious! (^_^) I've also had the teriyaki combo bowl once when I ate in...HUGE portions let me tell ya! Honestly much better than the combo bowls from Yoshinoya...I love Yoshinoya too but the combo bowls at California Sushi and Teriyaki are bigger AND cheaper. The ladies that run the register are so friendly and attentive...no matter how much I butcher and confuse the name of the "spicy tempura roll...the tuna one" they get me! Definitely a place to go to if your craving sushi or teriyaki and you're in Lakewood!
(4)Jennifer S.
3rd time here doesn't disappoint! #21 teriyaki chicken box with tempura substituted the California roll for the crunch roll! yUM!
(5)Annette F.
This is our go to place for take out bowls! Taste good and love the miso soup and salad that come with them
(4)Miguel R.
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. The combination plates were loaded with food for a very reasonable price. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Make sure you try the crunch roll and/or udon soup when you stop by...This place is worth the drive.
(5)Chris G.
We love this place. Perfect little neighborhood spot. Great food and good customer service.
(4)John R.
Decent spot. Terry plate is not to good. Rice taste old. Sushi worth trying. Good creative blend. Fun theme inside. Atmosphere is friendly, kind of boring for kids. Drinks served super cold.
(3)Gloria P.
I really miss living in Lakewood because I can't just hop in anytime any longer. Great little place, no fuss, just good prices and friendly faces.
(5)Julia H.
I don't come out to this area often, but my friend was craving sushi for lunch so we saw this place and decided to check it out! I ordered the beef teriyaki and crunch roll, and it was bomb! Prices were decent and service was fast. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area =)
(5)Susan L.
YUM. This place is fast, cheap and freakin delicious! I'm not a very adventurous eater, but every roll I've tried has been so good. And did I say cheap? My family splits a box and a couple rolls on the side for about $25. We found our new go-to sushi spot :-)
(4)Ellen K.
I stumbled across this place after shopping one day, and boy am I happy I did! There is a McDonalds right next to this place, but my friend and I wanted to eat something more healthier than a fatty burger so we decided to give this place a go. At first glance this place is nothing really fancy, but they make up for it with welcoming employees, great food, and affordable prices. The cashier greeted us with a huge smile and took our orders. My friend and I ordered the teriyaki bowl, spicy tuna roll, crunch roll and the tofu salad. We were pretty surprised of how much food came out. They definitely give you a lot more than what you pay for, which is always nice. The tofu salad itself was pretty big, I couldn't finish this alone. Glad I ordered it though, as I took some home to go! The place is really clean too, which ranks very high in my book. I could see why this place was quite busy, as there are a lot of houses near the area. There seemed to be a lot of to-go orders, so I recommended this place to a friend that lives in the neighborhood. A better & healthier choice of meal for people on the go, then grabbing fast food. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area!
(5)Rita D.
Wanted to make a quick stop for sushi and should not have stopped here. Food was not flavorful and sushi rice was falling off the roll. Will never, ever, ever , stop here again.
(1)Martha M.
I really have no complaints about this place. Every time that I've visited, the food has been good, and the prices are decent. In addition, the service is quick and courteous! I've been here several times and tried everything from the udon soup to the tempura and sushi rolls, they've always been decent. I like that it's a small business and the ambiance is always welcoming. This place is great for lunch or a very casual dinner :)
(4)T C.
I have not tried the sushi, however...they make The best teriaki chicken bowls ever. Reminds me of the Aloha Teriaki that use to be located in Lakewood mall. The tempera is fantastic, as well. Great customer service. Fast and friendly. The food is always cooked perfectly. Hot dishes are always served hot. Highly recommended.
(5)Joy L.
The WORST sushi ive ever had.and i ordered egg rolls, bit into one and it was still frozen in the middle.i couldnt even eat one of the rolls i ordered.
(1)Tracy P.
This is my favorite restaurant in Lakewood. I can't see how anyone could give it negative feedback! The food is absolutely amazing, the service is great and it's super well priced. My favorites are the crunch roll and the beef teriyaki plate. So good!
(5)Bob S.
I've been by here many times but I never have eaten here until today.... I ordered the #33 beef teriyaki combo, salad with oil dressing, macaroni salad, white rice and of course the beef.... It came on a rectangle platter and lQQked delicious......AND WAS!! Needless to say, I will be coming back again... I heard the Tempura veggies are good too.... Come on in sometime and give it a try....
(4)Yair R.
This is my favorite sushi place. The service is always superb. The food is equally, if not more, amazing. All the girls that work there are professional and nice. You really can't go wrong eating here.
(5)Linda S.
I'm in love with their tofu salad. However, it's way too big for me to eat all by myself, but I always do. Overeating when it's a plateful of leafy greens, carrot slivers, avocado slices, soy beans, (tomatoes and cucumbers that I ditch) and perfectly fried tofu - seems to be a permissible overdo. Just wish there was a tad more ginger in the dressing. Reasonably priced for the portions given. Always friendly service.
(4)Monika N.
When my husband and I visit his parents in Lakewood from our hometown of Cincinnati we always make it a big deal to eat as much seafood as possible - including sushi! Typically the seafood is noticably fresher and just simply better in California. However I didn't feel that way at California Sushi. Honestly I've had better sushi from the grocery store. All rolls include either imitation crab or shrimp, which seems as though it had been freshly thawed and just didn't have a ton of flavor. There are better places nearby where I'd rather spend my money!
(2)Jasmine P.
I'm a picky eater when it comes to sushi and this place is delicious! It small and a little hidden but it's filled with great staff and amazing food! My friend brought me here and I know being a lot of my friends and family! Yummy
(5)Senia N.
Great teriyaki, I like getting the combo bowl here! The soup is always warm and tasty.
(5)Al V.
Enjoyed it. I had a Combo bowl (Beef and chicken) that came with a miso soup and a salad. For the price, it's excellent. Haven't tried the sushi, but I would definitely come back just for the teriyaki bowls.
(4)Sharon H.
This place wasn't too bad. My husband had the teriyaki plate and I was surprised at the portion...it was a good amount. I had the Tempura Spicy Tune roll...it's good but it had too much rice.
(3)Lily Q.
Always satisfied with our meals. Great prices, delicious food with plenty on our plates.
(4)J Smith A.
This is my go to place when I want some comfort Japanese food. They have never disappointed me.
(5)A. J.
Chicken teriyaki plate is delicious. The chicken has this fresh off the bbq taste, the macaroni salad that comes with it is absolutely amazing. The best I've ever had. Can't get enough. Writing this is making me crave it! My kids love it too! Very friendly inviting staff!
(5)Lauren M.
I've been in here for about half an hour and the female server has been on her cell phone on a personal call for 3/4 of the time. She didn't even bother to hang up when customers came to order. So tacky!!! She forgot my miso soup and was pleasant when I asked for it, but brought me nothing but broth? No tofu? Meh.
(2)Danielle D.
Best sushi around here!!
(5)Shawna E.
Ive been coming here for years. Love it. The food is good, the service is good. I enjoy eating here when i want sushi, but dont wanna stuff my face. Just to satisfy that little craving. My husband and son arnt sushi fans, so they love this place because they can order the Chicken Teriyaki bowl. And im a happy mama cuz i dont have to eat by myself at a sushi place :D
(5)Elizabeth V.
Some of you might have noticed, I've had a run of bad luck with trying new places. I'm sure part of it has been my lack of diligence in taking only the best that Yelp has to offer. Then again, I've been a bit sun stroked so that might be a factor too. No matter what, I do know good udon and teriyaki chicken when I taste it. I had tried eating here once before. It was an attempt to be fair to my search for teriyaki, udon, and my novice attempts at sushi luvin'. I can't always make the drive into LA to get udon. In fact, I found a place close-by on Ball Rd. and then lucked out when I found GenkiYaki (even closer). So I was very interested in Calif. S & T because they are open later that my fav GY. My first visit -- see these reviews that say the help isn't helpful? I was way put off by how the employees weren't really interested in taking my order or acknowledging I was at the counter, so I left. This last visit, after seeing jeannie b.'s 4 star review, I thought maybe I'd try again. No luck with the employees. Not friendly but I gave in and placed an order. I was so overwhelmingly disappointed that now I don't think jeannie has had udon -- the real stuff. Raise your hand if you know the difference between spaghetti sauce homemade and Chef Boyardee industrial sugarfied special blend for kids? This udon was not anything I'd recognize as udon. The broth had been "thickened" so it wasn't a clear nice broth at all. And it had a disgusting sweet undertone. The teriyaki chicken was also not as expected. The meat is a thin quarter inch sheet that is flash grilled and cut into strips. I understand wanting to serve quickly but when you make chicken into a lunch meat sheet, it loses that aspect of being meat. All around this was a bad deal. I ended up chucking the soup, $6.50 in the trashcan, and I made a bowl of soup with stock I had in my freezer. This will go on my one star list even though I had high hopes for the food to be good enough that I could over look the attitude of the servers. At least I still have the place down the street GY.

I drove by this place today. Since I've never tried it, I decided to eat lunch there. The inside is clean but the place is lacking a restroom. I had two young kids that needed to go really bad and when we walked in, we were disappointed to see no restroom. Luckily the staff saw this and allowed the kids to use the restroom in the kitchen. Very nice staff. I have to save the beef and chicken teriyaki was really tasty and was modestly priced. Might have to come back for that. The sushi on the other hand was mediocre. I ordered a Hawaiian roll and the tuna on it was so pale that I could almost see through it. It did not look very appetizing and didn't taste all that good. If I go back I won't be ordering sushi. It was a little pricing too for what you get. $8.95 for pale tuna roll is not a good deal.
(3)Irma E.
"Yay! I'm a fan." --- INDEED! California Sushi & Teriyaki has never failed my taste buds. Yes, you heard correctly. They've got a whole list of different items on their menu. Sushi, a variety of rolls, bowls and noodles...oh my! I usually get the Salmon Teriyaki salad. Large in size and quite hefty even for a salad. We've ordered several other dishes over the past few months and have loved them all. This isn't your typical sit down Japanese - but it's good for when you're on the go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ 3/5 Ambiance - The mood, character, quality, tone, atmosphere. 3/5 Service -Helpful, accommodating, efficient, delivery and speed? 4/5 Food / Merchandise - Quality, taste, presentation. 4/5 Price - Reasonable, inexpensive, high priced?
(4)Jeannie B.
I usually get the udon here. Their sushi is pretty decent too but their udon is just super delicious! The noodles are super fat and chewy and they put in plenty of broth which is a plus! Service is pretty quick and the girl working at the front is really nice as well.
(4)Jennifer M.
i had to try this place because I was craving some chicken and rolls.. i had the chicken box which has a little of everything(chicken, rice, cali roll, tempura and a salad)and rainbow roll and mexico city roll... It was good and I will be back... the chicken was delicious and it was nice to have a taste of everything. The portions they give a good but the rolls lacked a little... I would recommend this place for the chicken or beef box and if you want a simple roll like crunch roll or cali roll but their specialty rolls are not really worth the price you pay for them.
(4)Jesse S.
Unfriendly people working here although the food was ok, which is why I give this place 2 stars. We asked for water and thought they would take it to our table with our food. It turned out to be self-served water but the cashier didn't tell us anything until we finally asked. For the high price you pay here you can go to many better sushi places in the area.
(2)Dizzy H.
This place was recommended by a few people I know.. Boy, I thought I was in for a treat - I didn't expect this... My husband and I were hungry for some lunch so we decided on sushi. We were thinking of Ginzaya sushi, but he mentioned "California Sushi & Teriyaki" - the place your coworkers mentioned (he says). So I agreed. The prices were comparable to Ginzaya - if not a lil' bit cheaper.. Soon I'd find out that you get what you pay for; 0( NEWay we ordered two beef bento boxes - which came with rice, salad, beef, 5 piece CA roll, 1 shrimp tempura, and veg. tempura and it was $8.50.. so I was like best bang for your buck. After the food came out it definitely looked better than it tasted. The beef was dry and tasteless. The salad seemed as if it wasn't washed. The tempura sauce was too salty. The CA Roll was as good as something from a convenience store, already premade (not fresh). The teriyaki sauce was gross and clumpy. I guess that's the kind of food you get when you hire Mexican to do it - no offense... While I dined in, I noticed most of the customers were Mexican so the have no idea how real sushi tastes like. I will never go back to this so called restuarant. I wouldn't even recommend this to people. I don't. like. Horrible - could have spent my money at Ginzya!

Got lunch here today after passing by this place many times. Female worker never greeted me until I was ready to order. It took me a few minutes to look at their menu of sushi rolls, teriyaki bowls and combos. Honestly the sushi selection here is quite poor and none of them sounded very appealing. Take the philly roll for example, which they have. Instead of raw salmon, they put in imitation crab! WTF?! I opted for the teriyaki plate instead and was left quite disappointed. You get thinly sliced chicken pieces barely having any teriyaki sauce on them along with a side salad with some weird dressing which I didn't try cuz it smelled weird and some potato salad. I paid over 7 bucks for this crap meal. Sure the interior of this place looks ok and all but the food here fails as well as the service. Not worth eating here.
(2)Glena D.
Love this place!! The workers are super nice to us that's the second reason we come back...The 1st is the food..it's our go to sushi place!

Im surprised that theres not too many reviews for this place because its not a bad restaurant at all. Although it might be hidden and can easily be ignored due to Mc. Donalds, Wingstop, and various other places to eat located in the same shopping center. Ive tried a few of there rolls and I can honestly say there not too bad at all. The freshness is pretty good, the taste is also pretty good and the price per roll is again pretty good. In my opinion however the best thing there are the bowls, which come in three options. Beef, Chicken, and a combination of the two. All three come in very large portions which will leave you feeling full and happy, and all three are very well priced. The bowl's also come with a salad and miso soup which I found rather generous considering the fact that there bowl again is a rather large size already. They have other things to try including sandwiches, salads, and combination plates which consist of sushi and other various goodies, but I also stick to the combo bowl (Beef & Chicken) and get a roll to share with a friend. IN SHORT: The best thing here are the bowls, combo bowl is where its at. The rolls are also very good but if your going to eat a bowl and a roll I suggest sharing the roll with a friend because the bowls are generously sized and will leave you satisfied.

I love there Menu. Everything is good. Crunch rolls here are amazing. The UDON is top notch. Mix in some tempura shrimp and some Mochi for desert and you have an outstanding meal. Try anything that's teriyaki and you won't be disapointed.

Californa Sushi and Teriyaki, Is now one of our favorite places to go for lunch. Everything i have tasted is yummy and the prices are great. The Teriyaki Salmon Box is a must for all. I have also tried the gyoza and the Tempura Fish Sandwich. I have introduced this place to 3 of my friends, who are now big fans too.

So I checked out this place this past weekend with my boyfriend. We were house sitting in the area and saw the reviews of this place. When we walked in, it seemed chill and def liked the environment. We ordered the Udon, Tempura sushi, a combo teriyaki bowl and steamed gyoza. The food looked great, however it didn't taste as great as it looked. The steamed gyoza was pretty good. The miso soup was bland, the udon was good, but kinda bland as well. (Mind you, I've had some good Udon) I did like the tempura sushi because that was nice and crunchy. Plus, adding soy sauce and wasabi gave it some good flavor. Finally, the combo bowl was alright. I've had better and with the reviews expected better. Not bad for just a bit to eat I guess.

Quite honestly, I was caught by surprise to find a rather decent sushi place in the middle of Lakewood. California Sushi and Teriyaki gives the first impression of having white-washed sushi (you know, like the to-go sushi they have at Trader Joe's), but after trying their rolls, I was glad to be severely wrong. This place is as good as a $$ Japanese sushi bar or restaurant. All the rolls at California Sushi and Teriyaki are superb for the price you pay. I used to get their Tiger roll, which basically is large california roll with shrimp pieces on top. Now I go for their Philedelphia roll, which has cream cheese and fresh salmon in the center. My sister has tried the crunch roll and rainbow roll; those don't disappoint either. The sashimi pieces on top of the sushi is always fresh, and the rolls are all about $8-10. Other than that, I've also tried their salmon and beef plates. They're pretty big, so if you have a big appetite, go for those. They come with a delicious and creamy macaroni salad on the side. Their teriyaki bowls are cheapest and delicious for their price(about $5.) They always cook their RICE to the PERFECT texture. Paired with the teriyaki sauce, the rice is totally Japanese quality. Wow, looking back on this review, I've been here quite a lot of times! I'll continue going back for their unbeatable quality, reasonable price, and to-go service. (:

I like it. Not the best food in the world, but it does the trick. The bowls come with miso soup and a salad. Good prices and adequate food. Sometimes it takes a while so it's good to call ahead for pick up.

There's nothing really special about this place, but it is my local go-to sushi & teriyaki joint when I'm short on time and cash. The sushi and teryiaki is good, the prices are fair, it's close and quick, and the people there are super nice.

Hi Guys, there are a lot of reviews on here. Some long ones indeed.... this is just a small place to get a quick bite when you don't wan't fast food, but I wouldn't rate it with some other types of sushi establishments.. but the chicken bowl special with salad and miso soup is a great deal! The kids and adults love it. Nuff said.

I've been eating at this place for about a year. I recently moved into the neighborhood a little over 18mo ago. I kept driving by this place with it's detail graphics of various food item on a sign that was hanging in front of the restaurant. The items looked good so I thought I would give it a try. No MSG and the prices were fair. I have eaten the sushi, udon, salmon bento box, various bowls, and sushi rolls. I would have to say that the food was good but not the same quality as in a high-end Japanese sushi bar. But then again, no MSG and reasonable prices makes this place a great value. I normally order take-out, but they do have a small dining room that will probably accommodate about 30 people. I have eaten at this location before and the basically, you order your food at the counter, pay at the counter, and they will call out when your order is ready to be picked up at the counter. Overall, not a bad place to get fresh sushi at a great value.

It's sad, but the place has really declined. When it first opened, the food was great, and the service was fine. As time has gone on the food is still relatively the same, but the service sucks. I picked up lunch today, and it was a large order, but the cashier could care less that I was spending my money there. I actually signed up for Yelp, because of this place. I was sooo disappointed with the service, that it made the food taste crappy. A simple hello and smile would do wonders for that place. I wanted to talk to the manager or owner, but I figured what's the point if they've allowed this kind of service for the past 2 years.
