Amazing service! It was my first time here and they were all very friendly . It's a cute little cafe and it's WAY better than any other breakfast place I've been too . The crepes are made fresh and have so many choices! Go traditional or savory . Don't forget to try the churros ! Delicious way to end a meal. Will definitely come back!

I came across this spot when I was looking for good brunch places around my new house, and thought I would give it a try. Overall...it was average. Food was average, service was bleh. I don't know if I would come back again. We got the French toast combo and waffle combo. Both were quite mediocre, I felt like I could make both on my own. I ended up eating only one piece of my French toast (there were 4 pieces). But I guess the potatoes were pretty good. As for the service, our server had a very forced smile on his face the whole time. When he asked me whether I wanted sausage or bacon for my combo, I said bacon and one sausage, to which he said "No, ONLY bacon or ONLY sausage", and then an extremely pretentious smile. I thought I could do one of each like at IHOP, but I guess not. He could've been nicer about it. Other servers seemed nicer.

I have to say the food here is amazingly good but what gets to me and should be known is the wait time to get your food could be up at 40 mins long after you order. It's a small cafe and like they say nothing is microwaved and everything is cooked. Since I'm not always in a rush and I'm just really eating with a few friends the time doesn't seem to ever bother me. My friend ordered a panini sandwich and another had waffles with eggs and sausage, I just ordered the eggs and bacon it comes with hash browns that taste pretty amazing! So if you have time to wait and you want to support family run not like a Denny's or what not this is a pretty sweet place to try!

Awesome joint! The cafe is very small and the wait can be a pain but the food is totally worth it. I had a crepe with cream cheese and strawberries. It was savory and sweet at the same time. Everything else I tried off of my friend's plates were fantastic. The owner is fit, tall, and Spanish--with colored eyes. Order that. That's the best part.

If it weren't for yelp..... NO ONE would know about this place. Yelp, you are a savior. This is a great place for brunch. I ordered the french toast (4 thick halves of soft ciabatta bread was it? and generously soaked in a sweet vanilla mixture) was great. I don't often get this but it was a good choice. Side of 3 eggs, any way you want, sausage and hash potatoes (not hot, not great). The whole giant dish $10, feeds 2 people, i promise you. The Cordon Blue crepe $10-12 was too creamy, heavy, slightly over salted (because it was stuffed with cheese, ham and chicken breast), it was okay. I would definitely ask for half the cream on top. This also had its side of breakfast proteins. The coffee was surprisingly good (Latino's know their coffee). Two dishes and it was just way too much food for 2 people (with a side of food coma) By Thursday noon, there were already people waiting for tables, I can only imagine the weekends. Plan accordingly. Service very slow, friendly BUT inattentive. You have to wave for water, check, anything, only one waiter taking care of all the tables (ordering and serving). This is their weakness, be patient and consider yourself warned. Takes credit cards. Not great for large groups, at most, come with maximum 4 people.

What a find! Breakfast is a tough gig for many restaurants, and a lavish gastronomic experience like this is very rare. We had the french toast, a crepe and the kids plates. Everything was delicious. The wait time was a bit long, which I didn't mind, but the food came out very staggered. I get that good food takes time, but it would help to time it better. Two of us had food getting cold for about 10 mins before the rest of our food started coming out. That's inexcusable to me. The service was great though.. It's a small joint, so be prepared for a wait on busy days, though the turn over isn't too bad. I'm definitely going back.

Crepes in La Puente? Lol completely took me by surprise, stopped by mostly out of curiosity and I'm glad I did. My parents and I had a great meal. Specialty coffee served on Sunday's was delicious. My mom and I tried out the crepes and they were great, dad had the steak sandwich with fries and he loved it. It gets packed quick since it's a tiny place, and the food comes out slow and not all at once, so have some patience because the foods worth it. I will definitely be coming back.

I came knowing about the wait. I was prepared but it was not worth the wait. I ordered an abuelita hot chocolate and my son ordered a strawberry shaved ice. Both were delicious. French toast combo was average. It was good but not worth waiting almost an hour for. Ham and cheese melt was OK according to my son. Neither of us liked the potatoes and to top it off they were cold. I was excited because most of the reviews were good but was disappointed with the result.

found this place on yelp and decided to try it out. Fist time we did take out. Everything was very very delicious. Can't go wrong with anything you choose. We recently moved to Lancaster and when we go down to the area to visit we always go by there to grab a bite to eat. Still my favorite place to grab some waffles and crepes. Great job.

An out of place neat little cafe. Here for group of 4 breakfast. Special Coffee ($3.99) - reminds me of Mexican mocha, delicious. Ordered the items shared: 1. Breakfast crepe (4 stars) - so savory, large portion, cheeses, mushrooms, flavorful. 2. Club Panini (3 stars) - unremarkable, but bread is well toasted 3. Waffle special (4 stars) - well done waffle with a crispy exterior and soft interior, flavor is not too sweet. 4. French toast special (3.5 stars) - well done french toast, but the bread is not my favorite kind. Over easy eggs and bacon were delicious. Potatoes are alright. Will return when I am in the area!

Found this small little cafe in La Puente and it was delicious! Everything is made super fresh so you do have to wait awhile for your food . I had one of their savory crepes , it was stuffed w chicken, green peppers and sauce. It was very delicious and savory the sauce reminded me of Alfredo which is good. Try the ice coffee its made fresh and brewed strong:) Definitely coming back to try the more sweet and fruit filled crepes. Places is quite small so I can imagine it gets packed on weekends. Servers and workers are super kind and friendly!

4.5 stars What a hidden gem! I never really venture to the La Puente area, but my friend wanted to eat brunch here. My friends all ordered crepes while I ordered the churros with chocolate dip. The churros were delicious and very authentic to the ones I have tried in South America. The whipped cream was soft and fluffy and the chocolate sauce was decadent. Service: Loved the servers here! They are so funny and sweet. When I first ordered the churros, they told me they ran out but when they made another fresh batch, a server immediately came back and told me about the freshly made batch! Awesome. Also, don't forget to order the Cafe de Olla! It's coffee with a hint of cinnamon and chocolate I believe. Sooooo tasty. It is only available Saturday and Sundays. Note: They take credit cards! Parking: plenty of parking in the lot.

This place is a little hard to find. You can't really see it if you're driving down Amar, but just turn into the plaza with the Rite Aid. it's near a photography studio and small shops. It's a really small restaurant, but the people who work there really make up for the way the place looks. The service was really good and everyone there was super super friendly and courteous. I really appreciate that!! SPANISH OMELETTE: This omelette is only served on the weekends. I ordered this and enjoyed it! It's a three egg omelette with onions and diced potatoes. It also comes with your choice of toast (sourdough, wheat, white) and choice of potatoes. I got their home fries and its like season breakfast potatoes (REALLY GOOD and I can see why people think it's popular!). The omelette came out to be a big in size. I don't know if I'd order it again just because it was potato overload for me, but at least the potato in the omelette isn't heavy or overbearing. This dish is perfect if you love potatoes! WAFFLE SPECIAL: This is a regular waffle that comes with a side of 3 strips of bacon or sausage links, 3 eggs cooked any way, and potatoes of your choice (fries, home fries, chips). Our group got the waffle with strawberries, caramel, and whipped cream. IT WAS AMAZING. They have the best caramel!! Ugh, totally wish I wasn't sharing haha! CHICKEN PESTO PANINI: This was good. It tasted exactly how I expected. Also comes with side of potatoes of your choice and a pickle. CHICKEN CHIPOTLE PANINI: The chipotle flavor is fairly mild to me. This dish didn't make a lasting impression on me. Also comes with side of potatoes of your choice and a pickle. PARIS CREPE: This is one of their popular dishes. It's a pretty basic crepe with nutella, strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream. I think they went a little cray with the whip cream, but it still satisfied my crepe craving. ABUELITA HOT CHOCOLATE: LOVED the hot chocolate!! It comes with whipped cream and some cinnamon on top. It has a little cinnamon-y kick to your average hot chocolate and I really enjoyed it! I would definitely come back because the service alone was awesome. I love supporting mom and pop places that genuinely are in the food business because they enjoy it. Try to go early or later because it is a small place and they said there is usually a 45 min wait during prime time breakfast times. I'd also suggest stick to breakfast over panini if you're stuck on what to order. And definitely go for the home fries because that's what they're known for. Their regular french fries are good-skinny and slightly crispy (my fave). Cheers!

I've been coming for about 10 months or so and I love coming back. I've never waited more than a half hour for a table. The place only has 9 tables. Service has seriously increased. First time we went, it was HORRIBLE. Gave it a second time and it was enough to have us returning. It takes a while for your food to come. About 15-20 mins. And I would always order a hot chocolate and my food would come before the drink -_- annoying. But I can do without. Either way. I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries and condensed milk and it's heavenly. I love it. I love coming to Caramelos. They are so friendly. Welcoming. Awesome all around :)

This is not a place for a breakfast Saturday morning if you want to relax and enjoy. This is a very small place that can be very crowded very early and in a hot Saturday morning in the summertime time this is not the right place to be. While the food seems to be good it takes too long to be served, since the restaurant claims is not using heat lamps, the food gets cold fast and when the food gets cold it tastes very different. Our coffee was warm, making this an early disappointment. The restaurant is very small and the combination of the people talking and the music, the noise level is very high making you feel stress making this a not a relaxing and enjoyable experience. We will give them a second chance during the lunch rush hour, when the weather is cooler.

I so Love this place! They have very good food at reasonable price. Yes, it is a small place & Yes, the service is a bit slow, but it's worth the wait. I don't like to bash any small business because they work hard to fulfill customers expectations to serve fresh quality food. But if you're not willing to wait then hit up MikeyD's...lol!

So, I wanted something good to eat, so of course I looked up Yelp and found this hidden spot. Crepes and paninis in La Puente?! A group of us went to check it out and don't be fooled, it's in a strip mall parking lot, but once inside you forget. Once you are in, take a look at the other peoples orders and yum yum, it will be hard to make a decision. We decided to get different sandwiches so that we could sample them. The cuban panini was absolutely delicious, the steak sandwich was juicy and flavorful, but my favorite was the club panini. As for dessert we shared a Paris crepe, stuffed with strawberries, bananas, and nutella. MMMMMMMM!!!!! Now beware there are signs warning you... THE FOOD TAKES AWHILE...so get an abuelita hot chocolate, or iced coffee, chat and enjoy your company. My only complaint is that their attention to service is lacking... example, needed water refills and we had to go to the counter to get it. The waiter/waitress scans the room, but they don't ever ask if we need anything. We had to flag them down for boxes to go. I know that we will be back and can't wait to try something new. Thank you

There are many unique establishments that have yet to be discovered in LA County's working class neighborhoods. Caramelo Cafe was an amazing hidden gem that I stumbled upon over the weekend. It is difficult to find but if you head toward the northwest corner of the parking lot, near Rite Aide, you'll find it nestled between a couple of up and coming mom and pop shops. Upon entering Caramelo Cafe, you'll find 9 small tables with seating of up to approximately 50 to 60 people. It is highly advised that you sit at the first available table that you see because this place is very busy. Although Caramelo Cafe is a small business, you'd be surprised by the number of people constantly coming inside to place their order. Some people opted for the to go menu while some patient individuals waited for guests to vacate their table. This is a family oriented and more than likely, family owned business that has a warm feeling to it as you are embraced by their phenomenal staff. With tables in close proximity to one another, you'll end up with an intimate meal with friends, family, and loved ones. Popular menu items include: paninis, crepes, omelettes, Belgian Waffles, and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a Belgian Waffle topped with bananas, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. I also opted for a single churro which is essentially a large churro cut up into 6 pieces. It was placed on a large plate with chocolate syrup and whipped cream so you can swirl it around to make it even tastier! You also have the option of getting a stuffed churro with caramel filling. Unfortunately, they ran out of caramel so they gave us the regular churro for free since they knew that we really had our hearts set on the caramel infused churro. While we waited for our meal, we enjoyed some Abuelita hot chocolate. I've had this at other restaurants but this was heavenly! They used whole milk, a lot of chocolate, and the perfect amount of cinnamon. I appreciated the fact that they did not use water because there's nothing worse than attempting to drink flavorless, diluted hot cocoa. We took our time drinking our Abuelita cocoa because we wanted to savor the flavor. Finally our churro and Belgian Waffle arrived! I was amazed at the sight of this magnificent creation. The bananas were fresh and firm, ideal for consumption after being covered with chocolate syrup. The combined flavor of the waffle itself with syrup and bananas was truly amazing! The Belgian Waffle was cooked to perfection, neither over or undercooked. The churro was crispy, sprinkled with the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar. As I dipped my churro into the chocolate syrup and whipped cream, I realized that all these years were wasted eating a plain churro. This combination of sweetness sent my taste buds into overdrive! I was VERY impressed with my meal. What makes Caramelo Cafe stand out among its competitors is that they pride themselves on serving freshly made food. They do not have heat lamps nor do they use microwaves. Everything is made when you order it! Caramelo Cafe isn't focused solely on making money. Their goal is to serve delicious food with the best ingredients while making you feel like you are part of the family. I am beyond excited to have discovered this amazing neighborhood gem! I will definitely return for another cup of Abuelita hot cocoa and a mouth watering Belgian Waffle! You can't go wrong with Caramelo Cafe as this is one of those places that is truly unforgettable!

Omg this place is amazing. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable. There waiter was busy but never once did i feel unattended. I would definitely come back and I recommend to everyone to check it out. Promise you wont be disappointed.

We waited outside for a seat for 2 for 30 minutes. Delicious ABC omelette! My friend got the club panini. We got the Paris crepe for dessert too. The ABC omelette was a lot of food for me. Must try if you are here for the first time. My friend's club panini did not look like the club panini in the picture though. The fries were replaced with Ruffles chip because they ran out of potatoes, and it did not come with avocados...my friend was so disappointed cause she loves avocados. The Paris crepe was filled with nutella, strawberries, and bananas. It was good, but nothing special. I'll be back to try other omelettes.

Great little cafe, but the service and wait time is ridiculous. We have been waiting an hour and still have not received our food. Staff is very nice but there just isn't enough waiter's. People are waiting 15 to 20 minutes just to get the check. If your in a hurry or on your lunch break this is not the place to come to. Even if you call in an order you still have to wait. Maybe they need more cooks!

This is the closest brunch place to where I live so I've been here a few times. It was hard to decide on how many stars because each time I have come, it's been a different experience. The restaurant is small and the food takes a long time to come out (every time I've waited at least 20-30 minutes). To be fair, they do have a large sign warning you. The crepes are okay to me (I have tried the poblana chicken and cordon blue). The pancakes are very good and the real winner..... their crispy and flavorful chicken pesto panini... The only thing bad about it is that it comes with a side of chips (if you want to upgrade to fries or salad, there's a charge). I kind of wish they just lower the price of the panini (currently $7-8) down by not giving the chips on the side.

Great place for brunch or breakfast! Small place so hopefully they'll expand so the wait doesn't become unbearable (not too much to do nearby). Love their crepes (sweat and savory) but sadly no ice cream option. Oh and did I mention; Home made churros! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

The chorizo omelette was great!!! I'm not a big breakfast person but I will definitely come back again. My daughter had the strawberry banana crepè and after her first bite she said "I knew it was going to be good but not this good" so we will definitely come back. It is a small place and it fills up fast. So come early and enjoy!!!

I've had two separate experiences at Caramelo and to be honest, they were both kind of misses for me. I know that when a restaurant has, for the majority of the time, positive reviews, the few negative or semi-negative ones get miscounted. However, I encourage you to read them as I am not going to only list negatives, but positives as well. As a diner, I like to be informed of the good and bad parts of the overall experience. On my first visit, the service was just alright. The server was an older male with glasses (not the young one at the front) and he seemed more or less kind of scatterbrained but they were busy, so that's understandable. He was able to get us our food and did not bother my friend and me unnecessarily so that was nice. The food was decent- I got the crepe special combo and had the Paris crepe. I have to say... the crepes are delicious here. The eggs were not fried to what I asked for and were extremely runny and bacon was not crispy. Again, the crepe kind of made up for it. I also had the hot chocolate and that was good as well. On my second visit, I initially experienced better service from one of the females. She made sure we were taken care of and came by to ask us if we needed anything. She dropped off our check/receipt kind of early (I would say 40 minutes into our overall visit) and told us to take our time and that she was just leaving it there. Fair enough as I've seen this done at multiple restaurants. I even paid immediately because I know it's annoying to just have check trays sitting on a customer's table. What later on bugged me was the fact that she came to our table around an hour into our visit and said that she didn't want to be rude, but they were really busy and needed us to vacate our table. Never before, even in the busiest moments at more popular places than this, have I been asked to leave. Never. First of all, this request in itself can be understandable, especially if you have a line out the door. They did not have an overwhelming line although there were some people waiting. Second of all, she said it in a very condescending tone to my friend and I, almost as if we were two young girls who couldn't stop chatting and were really annoying. Let me tell you that we were only there for an hour or so, were more or less quiet in our volume, and were literally wrapping up our conversation. One of the servers had also just given me a refill on my coffee, so I didn't get to finish that either. I'm sorry if two paying customers who gave a 15%-20% tip were being unreasonable by wanting to stay to catch up a little were a nuisance. I didn't know that that was how customer service was supposed to be given. I gave two stars, both for the delicious crepes I had here the two times. The eggs and meat were just average in my opinion. Unfortunately, the scattered and inconsistent service knocked off three stars. To me, the entire experience is important... not just the food. I probably won't be frequenting this spot anymore as I do not wish to be kicked out after just an hour of eating. Eat at your own leisure and I hope your experience is better than mine!

So I went again this morning, and the service was better, they served my friend, her brother and I our food in about 10 minutes and I was blown away once again by their food! It was perfect in every aspect, from the crepé being so delicious and neat, to the bacon being hella bomb, to the eggs. It beats any breakfast I've ever had!! I'm bumping it up to a 5 because second time around the service was quicker with more servers. I highly recommend this awesome place, plus it's reasonable pretty low pricing :)

Very busy on a Friday morning! Some people walked in and had to be turned away because there weren't enough seats and another group got up and left before being served. It took about 15 minutes to get water and 45 minutes to get the food, but it was worth it though! Amazing food for a great price :) Just don't come here with a big group or a super hungry stomach, you'll be disappointed.

If I remember correctly this place is right next to an indoor swap meet so you can have yourself a pretty cozy, tasty breakfast then buy some slightly used undergarments and counterfeit purses and tshirts. PANCAKES N HOME FRIES yelp.com/biz_photos/cara… The wife enjoyed these so all was well. Hot, fluffy pancakes and well seasoned home fries. HAM N EGG BAGEL yelp.com/biz_photos/cara… I was feeling super cheap so I got this for only $4. Perfectly fried egg, cheese, cream cheese, ham, mayo, lettuce and onion on a toasted bagel. Money well spent. CHURRO yelp.com/biz_photos/cara… We got this for free for some reason I can't recall. But I damn well ain't gonna question it. Free churro, happy yelper. 'nuff said.

If you're into cute weekend brunches this is totally your spot. If you're not into waiting maybe try ordering ahead and get it to go, either way, try it out. I ordered the crepe special ($7.99) which comes with your choice of sweet crepe ($2 additional for savory crepe) a side of home fries and cafe de olla($2.99). My boyfriend ordered a savory poblano crepe special with tomato slices instead of eggs and a side of homefries aswell. Food here is delicious and made with quality ingredients. I really recommend having a crepe since this is your speciality. I plan on coming back and ordering the chicken pesto panini and another churro. The portion sizes are a decent size. If you're super hungry like I always am you're probably going to order another side. I also ordered a single churro but scarfed it down before I took a picture. Anyway, happy eating everyone! Pros + Smells like coffee inside Cafe de olla Healthy portions Variety of condiments Not too noisy Cons - Wait time Parking Slow service Minimal seating

Didn't know where to go for breakfast today since my daughter wanted pancake for breakfast. I end up yelping and found this place not too far from my house. It's a small little cafe places located inside a plaza that has other store. Like big saver, rite aid, and a toy store. Parking was easy. It was a Sunday morning when we went. The seat was full when we got there but didn't have to wait long, but some people like to sit there for a long time to chit chat with their friends and taking time to enjoy the food. So if u don't want to wait when u are hungry. I recommend come in half an hr early.

It's a small location and it's busy during breakfast. Oh but it's well worth trying this place out. I had ordered a breakfast meal with eggs, sausages, and potato, and belgian waffle and I couldn't finish everything. I have a sweet tooth and the Belgian waffle was perfect for my taste buds. Breakfast plate was delicious too. Prices are a little high BUT the food(I selected) was delicious.

I would give this place zero stars, however the food is delicious. This past Friday was my second visit here, the first time i had been here I was warned of the wait, however it was not too bad for it being a Sunday. My major gripe with this establishment is not the wait time, or the crowdedness. Its with the waiters and the cooks. The first time after waiting about 20 minutes for our seat, we were informed after we'd already settled in that they'd be moving us to a different table. Once we were moved and our orders were taken, my friend and I settled in again. They brought out our potatoes and drinks and my friends crêpe. But it was another 10 minutes before my crêpe came out. By the time I was able to eat my food it was cold. This last time that I went, it was absolutely a disappointment. I knew of the wait, but thought crêpes sounded delicious, so i decided to deal with it. My friend and I had about a 4 hour window to go get breakfast, and take care of a few errands we needed to run before she had to be on her way to work at 12:30. We arrived at the restaurant at 9am, and were seated immediately. Good so far. Then we placed our orders about 10 minutes later. The food came pretty fast, we both got our crêpes, but our potatoes were slow coming out. Finally they came, but were cold. I was drinking water, there was no ice in my cup, and they never offered to refill it, I had to ask. And finally when it came time to pay we were sitting for about 5 minutes with empty plates, before we had to flag someone down to tell them we wanted our check. 10 minutes go by, no check, at this point it was about 9:45 and we were freaking out about the time as we had other things we needed to do. We flagged the same water down again and he said "I know you want your check.... You have to wait, I'm busy." In the most snobby rude tone. Afterwards he apologized several times... And I was just livid at that point. Instead of apologizing for your incompetence and rudeness, you should have been getting my bill. Finally another waiter came back and told us "sorry for the wait I was making bread." If this establishment opens at 8am, why are they baking bread at 10am? Why do they only have two waiters on staff when they are as busy as they are? Why does only one of them seem to know, or have access to printing checks. My friend wanted to pay with her card, and they never came back with their tablet for her to swipe her card.... So she paid in cash. We ended up leaving the restaurant about 10:05...so that was 20 minutes of just sitting there waiting to pay for our freaking food! We absolutely did not leave a tip, and based on this experience alone it will be a very long time before I come back. If I come back. For those of you willing to deal with horrible service and rudeness from the wait staff, the food is good I recommend the La Fraise crêpe. However, I think I'd rather drive a little further and pay a little more than have to deal with the BS that goes on at this restaurant.

This is my first review and I got to say hands down one of the best places I have ever been to. Food is really delicious, fresh, and did I mention delicious. The service was ok but with the food I will definitely let it slide. I highly recommend this place.

Today is my first day here and so far it's DELICIOUS!! This must be LA Puente's best kept secret. Really amazing food. I got the french toast special and a ice mocha blend. My sister got a strawberry crepe it was so good. My only issue is that the resturant is so small. It's the size of a living room. There is mainly seating for small parties. So I suggest you go as a couple. I got they can find a larger location. The food is the real deal. It taste home made not greasy. The bacon is real not like the thin fake slices they give you at IHOP. The drink are ver authentic too. Really great service too.

Love the idea of his cute cafe but had several problems. The potatoes were undercooked. French toast came out much later after the rest of my breakfast. Asked for over medium eggs but they were over easy. Asked for no onions/bell peppers in omelet but was ignored. Wrong kind of toast. Had to remind them to bring the extra side of bacon I asked for. Not sure if I will try again.

Hidden gem in Bassett (La Puente)... Who would've thunk?! This place is amaz-az-ing. I crave Caramelo's at least once a week, heck sometimes I even go into work late just to stop by and have their breakfast crepe in the morning. Ultimate fave is the breakfast crepe, anyone and everyone must try! It's so yummy I don't want to even try anything else on the menu but of course I have... As for lunch, try the chicken pesto and mushroom pesto paninis they are so finger licking good! Churros so fresh make you wanna slap yo' mama and their Paris crepe filled with strawberries, banana, cream and nutella... oooh so much goodness! Hope you like it as much as I.

First time coming here with my cousins and it's so great! My younger cousin got the kids French toast plate and she really enjoyed it. My other cousin got the breakfast crepe and said it was a million times better than IHOP. I got the veggie skillet (with no eggs or cheese, vegan!) and it was so delicious. I've never finished a whole breakfast at restaurant and here I did. Definitely coming back here!

Cute little place. I would give less stars because it's a long wait for the food, the Paris Crepe doesn't actually have any Nutella (just generic chocolate sauce), and there was a HAIR ON MY PLATE. Also, the straw wrappers had greases spots and remnants of... something... stuck to it. I'm giving a generous 3 stars because the staff was so nice and the service was great. Nice place, but because of the hair I don't know if I'll ever go back.

both a blessing and a curse that this place is not conveniently close to home. blessing for my enlarging gut, curse that my taste buds will long yearn for another manila crepe. how can anyone not go crazy over mango, cream cheese, and condensed milk - possibly three of the best sweet ingredients known to man! and why hasn't any other creperie thought of this? kind of in an unexpected location. nice dude who took my to-go order over the phone speaks french, so you knows these crepes are authentic hehe jk. open another location in brea! =D

This was my first time here because my mom and I were in the area and wanted some breakfast. All you need to know: Food is good, service is crap. This place is too unorganized so the waiters provide poor service. You seat yourself here. It took them forever just to give us menus. I had to stand up and walk over for them to notice us and give us menus. Once we got our menus, it took about 15 minutes for them to acknowledge us. Once a waiter came over, he didn't want to take our order even though we said we were ready, he said only drinks first. Then it took about 6 more minutes just to get our food ordered. Thankfully, the food came pretty fast. I ordered the Laredo skillet/ chorizo skillet. It was really good and they give you a good serving because I couldn't finish it. My mother ordered a Pancake special. The pancakes were pretty dry and it took like 10 minutes just for them to give us butter. We had to ask 2 waiters. The check took some waiting just to get as well. Overall, the food was good but the place was too unorganized. It's not special enough for me to want to come back. So this will be my last time here.

First time here and let me tell ya , AMAZING. if your into home cook meals and. Great service, hit this joint up. Right off of Amar road good parking and easy to find location. Get here early. Because it's small and people pour in ! Over all the food is just amazing, kind of makes me wanna check the kitchen and check if my mom is here haha. I had the chorizo sandwich, eggs cheese and potatoes . Waffles look good to ! Just not my cup of tea. Coffee is fresh. Only thing is we came durring a farewell breakfast for some one (big party) and it was kind of noisy ....Will most definitely come back and maybe enjoy a nice quiet breakfast. The other thing was the waiter gave our plate to the next table (simple mistake ) but instead of the other party returning it they just went away and started forking at it. Never the less will come back ! And hopefully try the whole menu out !!!! good job Carmelos cafe !

PROS: Nice service CONS: Mediocre food It's just... meh. I was served an overcooked omelette (I hate it when it's browned!) that was somehow still a little cold, with slices of stiff, unripe avocado on top. What's the point of serving avocado that you can't even eat? There was also a side of just okay, greasy potatoes. It wasn't worth sending back, so I just picked at it. Maybe the crepes are good? They didn't look as nice as crepes I've had at other places, and I was already put off by the bad omelette, so I didn't try them. Two stars for the nice owner & service, not the food. No need for another visit.

DELISH CAFE! Chicken Pesto Panini (4 stars)- amazing bread, amazing pesto, this is prob their best item and favorite among yelpers. Wish the chicken was more tender though- you can kinda tell it's frozen and re-heated. Also get a salad instead of fries- really good raspberry vinaigrette dressing too! Grilled Chicken Sandwich (2 stars)- I didn't like this- chicken was waaaaay to dry for this one. Flavor also wasn't the best, not even close to good that I've had. Rather some fast food grilled chicken sandwich. Savory Crepes are awesome (4.5 stars)- I got the one with peppers and cream sauce- it was delicious!!! Flavors were all on point if only the chicken was fresh- it's def overcooked. I'll give them 4 stars since alot of their food items I've enjoyed including my friends stuff, they do just need some sort of special sauce in all their sandwiches- doesn't have to be the same but it'll make it more unique and less dry. Customer service is very good, guys are friendly, except sometimes for phone orders they don't understand us which is pretty annoying- some don't speak very good english...

Horrible service First and last time I come here I never walk out from a place but I had such a bad experience with ride waiters Not just one but both Not sure how the food is here but there are plenty great restaurants in the area to enjoy both great service and food First waiter gave away our table to a group that got there after us Then never bother to give us menus while providing menus to everyone else even new people coming in Then one of the other waiter gave me attitude after I asked for menus Never felt like this at any other place So it you decide to go now you know what is waiting for you

Service: ok | Wait time for food: 20+min |Food: taste but it was cold by the time we got it | Coffee: too strong | Overall Experience: Food would have been delicious if it hadn't been served 20 minutes later & cold, service was not too good, took another 15 minutes after I had already asked for to-go box & check and still I had to get up and go get it. They gave potential and I was excited because they are local but I wouldn't go back unless it was 8am and the place was alone so I can receive better service and warm food! #CarameloCafé

3.5 stars The interesting part about Yelp is that you'll find yourself in an uncharted territory (in your world) just because you let your eyes stare at all the good food pictures and your hunger drag you to your car to make a drive over. This is how I welcomed myself to La Puente. Lol. Once we went inside, I've noticed that it was kind of a small place but roomy enough to have about 8 tables accommodating various amounts of people coming in but probably not for a large party, though. Also, the only server who was working there was really friendly and you can tell he was trying his best to make sure every table was okay even though he was really busy so kudos to him. I ended up ordering: 1. Abuelita Hot Chocolate: I got this because of the pictures but I found that it was just okay and quite bland. I thought it could use some help and maybe come close to the temperature of the mug it was served in since it was almost borderline chocolate milk to me. 2. Belgian Waffle: This was so cheap for such a big portion you get! I think it was about $5 and you can choose your between strawberries, bananas or peaches for your fruit with another choice between chocolate, syrup, condensed milk or caramel for your sauce. There was also a waffle special that came with eggs, bacon or sausage and home fries (but the home fries didn't look that appealing) along with that big portion of waffle and it would have only cost you $8 or so. They also have crepes, omelettes, churros with some dipping sauces, shaved ice, sandwiches and I'm sure I can go on. They're all really cheap, too. Plenty of parking since it shares a big lot with other random stores along with a Rite Aid. Overall, I'd come back if I were to ever be in the area again and I'm already thinking about getting their churros.

Pretty small restaurant with about 6tables/26 seats. I love savory crepes so i decided to give this place a try. I was the only customer there on a random monday morning and the service was superb. Food: Cordon blue crepe ham, chicken pieces with hollandaise on the side. They were super generous with the amount of meat they put in. OMG so many pieces of chicken and ham!! I decided to do some work here on my laptop after eating. They were chill about it. There is wifi but they couldn't find the password. They made some effort to find it though! I will bring my mom here next time. They said they get busy on the weekend and recommended coming before 10 am.

I have discovered a new place for yummy peninis! I tried the chicken pesto with salad and it was delicious.. The salad is great too. I'm going back today... I can't wait to try the steak penini and the Paris crape. Don't hesitate try this place you won't be disappointed. Give your self some time though... They make everything fresh so it's not fast food.

Came here with a friend 30 mins before closing. We didnt know there hours but thank god it was open because this has to be the best place ever. Excellent service, quiet, small place. I ordered a caramel churro and shaved ice with mando and my friend ordered a waffle topped with strawberries, whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate. Before we left they offered us a strawberry, banana, chocolate filled crepe that someone had ordered and no longer wanted. Which tasted AMAZING!! Will definitely be back to this place when I'm nearby.

This is one of those love and hate/ hit or miss type joints. You have to come at least before 9:30am during the weekend or else you will probably be waiting for a table. I was served my hot chocolate, I was very happy. It was covered in whip cream with a sprinkle of cinnamon and tasted just like Mexican hot chocolate. The orange juice was pleasantly sweet and not watered down like some places. To eat, I ordered the Texas skillet with steak, chorizo omlette with home style fries. Both dishes were delicious and tasted like a breakfast meal you would wake up to at your momma's, well if your momma cooks like mine does. To top off breakfast, we also ordered a strawberry crepe. Wow! It was a great choice, the strawberries were fresh and the cream sweet. Orange juice $2 Hot chocolate $3.25 Texas skillet $9.99 Chorizo omelette $8.50 Strawberry Crepe $6.99 Total spent $33.50 Overall, the food is great, but this place is as small as my room and the wait can sometimes be compared to the Costco gas line on weekend mornings.

Ok this place is good! And you must be wondering why 3 stars? But this place has not the best service. There's always a wait time unless you go very early. They take way too long to deliver your food. The last time I was there I had to ask about 5 times for more coffee... There is a short Hispanic waiter with glasses and he is not the friendliest! He always has an attitude. The taller guy with color eyes has a better attitude and is approachable. The food is amazing they just need to improve on these lil things.

Caramelo Cafe's crepes are Delicious, but the service is not so good. My first time there, everything went well until I was brought my food. I had a very yummy pesto chicken panini. There was a long hair in my sandwich and I was not given any service after that, which was a big downer since I had to get up and ask for napkins, a fork, and my recipt at different times. My second time there, I had to wait about 45 minutes for my food and the same server (short man with glasses) was rude and was not of much assistance. I had the Delicious and heaven sent Mango Crepe and a Chicken Chipotle Panini. Overall, very good food! I love their idea of incorporating many cultures together but unfortunately the wait time and service is not pleasing. I would recommend comming to Caramelo Cafe.

Food here is hit and miss I have to say chicken sandwich was great my little brother had their steak sandwich which was pretty bad.We sat there and ate no one once asked how the food was or refilled our drinks. When someone finally passed by I asked for the check and waited 20 min all while they chit chatted at the counter.

Found this place on yelp with fairly good reviews so I thought I'd stop by before work. Kinda off the beaten path in my opinion. Center that it is in seems a bit sparse. Small 30 seated place and clean. Board above register reads "no heat lamps, no microwaves, and everything made fresh" coffee is pretty good and hot happy so far I ordered a ham and egg sandwich at $6.50 with breakfast potatoes. From walking in the door to food being served, it took 15 min. Not bad. Sandwich is very basic. Ham, egg, cheese, toasted sourdough and pressed like a panini. Potatoes a bit flavorless. I have a feeling I should have gotten their crêpes. That's what most people are getting. Mainly an older crowd. Probably what keeps the line of people coming in. Overall a decent place. Simple food and good prices. Definitely for families. I think I'll try their crêpes next time.

Valentines day 2015 Place was full when we came(9ish am) 15min wait we were told but we actually waited less than 10mins. Cute lil place. The two servers are very welcoming. Excellent customer service. The food is delicious(French toast special, pancake special & paris crepe) . I liked how the potatoes are dffrnt. It's not hash browns. Also i luvd that they actually use fresh fruit. The wait time to get the food is reasonable. Def a place to try out.

We happen to scroll through yelp for a good breakfast place and this little cafe place showed up. Like everyone says it is a small dine in, waiting time to be seated can be a long wait as well as service. However, their food makes up every minute of it! All the flavor is there the quality of food they serve is delicious. Like I said waiting time for food can be a little long, but I'd rather have fresh cooked meal rather than heat lamp type of dish. Their french toast are amazing! and their potatoes are bomb.com . I have yet to try thier crepes but I assume it is as great as ther meals I've tried. I certainly will return! I highly recommend this to everyone!

The shopping center is horrible!!! Wait time was 35 minutes as quoted by host. Small crowded and loud!!! Will definitely be back regardless!!! Chicken cordon blu crepe amazing!!! My boyfriend had one of the skillet breakfasts also amazing.. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

This place is such a hidden gem. I went there recently and it was so yummy. The service is great and the people are very friendly. The food is made fresh with all natural ingredients so be patient. It is worth the wait! They also have some discounts if you come at certain times. The ABC Omelette (I think) is really good. Make sure to get the fries dish that comes with it. For the crepes try the hollandaise one. Its one of the more unique crepes I've ever had and it is so amazing!

Pros: large portions, fresh, crepes, friendly service, clean Cons: wait time on weekends, slightly higher prices for food, chemical spray in the air when cleaning tables, patrons waiting by your table if you are seated in the back (they stand next to your table while they are waiting)

My boyfriend and I came here to have at least moderately cheap breakfast. Honestly, I didn't think it would be so good. I bought the waffle special while my boyfriend bought the crepe. He said he loved it and I concur. Best crepe and waffle I have ever tasted! You should totally try this place x3

I tried this place out cause the pictures and reviews looked pretty good... I got the waffle special.. The waffle was yummy! But the house potatoes they serve were undercooked and had no flavor.. I will come back here but only to order waffles or crepes no eggs or potatoes.

I started going to this cafe before they accepted card, so happy they do now! Super friendly staff , so happy to see this gem grow. The food takes a while to come out but is definitely worth the wait because you can just taste the freshness and yumminess of it all! Would highly recommend to get yo brunch on. Oh wait, their fries have downgraded and they don't serve cafe de olla everyday - only bad changes I have noticed.

I have to knock off two stars for this restaurant just because they can't prepare 6 meals for service at the same time. My crepes were delivered cold waiting for the paninis to finish. But if you go with a smaller group or just a couple they serve excellent fresh food prepared to order.

  • Kaycel C.

I've been here a couple of times and each time I've gone my experience has been great! The staff is all friendly and the food is really enjoyable. Not to mention the portions are more than enough to fill you up and you just can't be the price! I loved this place so much that I brought my mom for breakfast and after her meal she asked me when was the next we'd return. Which I wouldn't mind returning every weekend for our breakfast dates! I really recommend the breakfast crepe, hot chocolate, and the churros! The crepe was really savory and I didn't even get to finish it half way before I was already starting to feel full, I think that's one of my favorite entrées there. The hot chocolate is really different from any I've tried it's just... Really good lol there's no other way to explain. And the churros are pretty amazing! I finally decided to try them since they seemed promising and they did disappoint.. It had a sort of caramel filling but not too overwhelming and it's probably the best churro I've ever had. Just writing this is making me want to go back!

Okay so been passing by This lil gem for a minute now glad I did. I'm a sucker for crepes and tell you this you won't regret it. We had the kids lunch ham and cheese panini. Was good and good size considering was on the kids menu. We also had a Paris crepe which was a crepe filled with Nutella, bananas and strawberries with whip cream and drizzled chocolate syrup super tasty!! We will be back to try more items on the menu. So fresh loved it

The food was yummy. We had a group of six people and waited about 45 minutes to get seated around lunch time on Mother's day. I thought the amount of time we waited to decent considering it was Mother's day. The food did take a little while to come out but it was yummy. The Paris crepe is delicious. Will be going back to try more plates.

Best chorizo I've ever had. It wasn't spicy and had a great flavor. It was my first time going and it was great! The girl who helped us was very polite and attentive, even when it started getting busy. My family had gone once before me and they said it was a long wait so we went early. It wasn't crowded at all but once we left, it was completely full. Next time I go, I'm definitely having the crepes. I wouldn't mind waiting for my food because, like their chalkboard says, it's fresh and worth it.

  • Ana I.

I love coming here. I'm had their crepes, belgian waffles, and french toast and they are all delicious. Recently my obsession has been their chorizo sandwich its amazing with their homestyle potatoes. I love the service when its only the one guy. Now they have another two, and they take the orders to tables that came later, they have gotten my order wrong twice in one month. And when it was only the guy, not once. The food is always perfect, but maybe get better employees. And it's worth the wait.

Went here for mother's day and there was a little bit of a wait because it's a little cramped, but it was so worth it. There was plenty of variety between their crepes and regular breakfast items. My mom and grandma both had their specialty crepes and it was a big hit. Definitely got to try it again soon.

My husband and I were looking for something close by we automatically choose this place and I'm so glad we did. I use to live in Lp and I'm telling you theirs no place like this around. Authentic, delicious food. It's located in a ok area, small little café., waitress was friendly and sweet only thing is that they need to revisit their tables more often. my husband got a ice coffee and was done with in maybe 30 min and no one came to see if he needed another coffee or water. Hopefully they work on that. But overall great place. If I'm in the area would stop by

I've been wanting to try this place for months, but they close early and I just never had the chance until a couple of weeks ago. I met a friend here for brunch on a Sunday morning 10 am and the place is packed. People waiting outside and the place is full inside. Since it was only 2 of us we got our table fairly quickly. However some of the tables are too close for comfort, but i can deal with it. Service was a bit rushed, once were about to finish our food I totally felt rushed, and it seemed like they couldn't get us out fast enough to sit the next party. So if you are planning a morning brunch be prepare to wait and then be rushed. The food was very good, I had an omelet and it was very good and the house potatoes were also very good. Now the best part was the sweet crepe, with condensed milk and strawberries. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back and have another one, except I will try to go at a time they're not so busy.

This place is amazing and well kept secret in La Puente. My friend had the waffle special and it was unlike any waffle I've ever tasted. It was fluffy and delicious. I had the breakfast skillet with chorizo. They topped it with eggs cooked the way you want it (I had mine sunny side up). It was a delicious combo. Unfortunately, I was too full to try the churro that everyone that previously reviewed raved about. I'm definitely coming here next time! Just a tip! Luckily, I came here around nine on Sunday morning; right before the breakfast rush. :) If you decide to come on Sunday and are able to make it earlier than 10, I highly recommend it. When we left, there were quite a few people waiting for tables.

Went Saturday morning for brunch. There were people waiting outside. Found out that we have to go inside and put our name down. Server at the counter was really nice. Told us the wait time is about 20 minutes which was pretty accurate. Contrary to the location, the cafe itself is very clean and cute. We ordered Belgian waffles with strawberry and chocolate syrup, Paris crepe, scrambled eggs with home style potatoes and orange juice. Orange juice was freshly squeezed. My favorite was the crepe. It was everything I had hoped for! Waffle was good but I thought it would have maple syrup with chocolate drizzle which was not the case. The chocolate syrup by itself was just too much chocolate. The scrambled eggs were fine. Nothing special. I did not like the potatoes. They weren't cooked all the way! Not my taste. Service was very quick and efficient.

First timer...Came for breakfast on Labor day with family and the wait was just under 10 minutes. Ordered the chorizo sandwich, which was excellent.. Mildly spicy, panini bread nice and toasty but soft inside. I tried the waffle and one of the best. The Poblano crepe is to die for. Coffee was very good nice and strong. Excellent service. I will be back to try the sweet crepes and churros.

Everything here is delicious. Crepes, waffles, and churros are just the tip. (If you put Nutella on it, I will eat it). But the wait is no joke. There is no where to sit and wait; you can only stand and awkwardly wait for others to finish their delicious food. Is the wait worth it? Yes, to an extent. But I wish this place would hurry up and expand so I can bring my big family here. (I don't recommend a group larger than four either.)

This place has excellent service also a very friendly atmosphere another thing is the food is excellent, I recommend the poblana crepe, the place is small and food takes a while to receive but it is all worth the wait. :)

We come to Caramelo often because of their excellent service and amazing food! It can get busy, but waiting patiently is best. "You can't buy happiness, but you can buy crepes and that's kind of the same thing."

Located in a run-down old shopping center. I kinda wanted to keep this a secret all to myself:) but could not deny Yelp to this gem. Service is sub-par here, but with crepes this good, who cares? It's very difficult to find an authentic crepe, like the crepes I have eaten in Italy and Germany. We tried the Poblano (no heat) and the Chipolte (some heat) Crepes, Both were huge, and filled with lots of meat and sauce. I preferred the Chipolte crepe even though the Poblano is their best savory seller. The churro reminded me of a churro french fry as it was too hard. Note, that you pay at the counter after your meal on an Ipad, so don't wait for your check to be delivered. The kitchen doesn't have a fast turnaround so not the place to go if you're in a hurry.

My sister found this place via Yelp when we were looking for a place to eat with our mom. Checked out a few reviews and decided to give it a chance. We came in about 9 am on a Friday morning. There were a couple of tables inside already and we were greeted quickly and sat. Seems they only had 1 server (possibly the owner). Right after he took our drink order, the place filled up. It's pretty small inside. Only about 9 tables. The menu was simple to navigate and everything looked delicious. I settled on the veggie skillet, sister had the breakfast creap, and Mudder dearest had the French Toast plate. Prices are average and portions are generous but not overly big. We all shared a bit if everything and we're pretty satisfied with all of it coffee was strong and they offer vanilla creamer :) on the weekends they offer a few other dishes and beverages so I will have to come back and check it out.

The best place!!!! Seriously, if you can't wait then you have no idea what you are missing. The cafe de olla is the best!!! I hope they keep the amazing quality of food. Try it! Try it .

First off the atmosphere is very likeable and most importantly the food is freshly made and super delicious! I fell in love with their frenchie la fraise, they're very friendly too, will visit again and recommendable!

***CASH ONLY*** Ok, so I really love the crepes here but service is REALLY slow, so if you are in a rush, I wouldn't recommend this place. The waiters are nice and courteous and food is good but because the service is so slow I can't put more than 3 stars. I will continue to come here to eat when I'm not in a rush and make sure to bring some snacks if you have kids with you. Bon Appetite!

Let me begin by saying that i only leave reviews even an establishment is exceptionally memorable, for better or worse. My old yelp account is littered with one star ratings. On the contrary this place deserves a fine star. My lady and i ordered waffle combo and bonana? crepe combo. Both were of my 4.5 star quality rating I've seen on yelp before making the trip here. I have to say the eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly as ordered. It's not often where i leave satisfied with my eggs and bacon. Service reflects my food as well, not over done nor lacking. I did not enjoy my seating next to the restroom however, i took a whiff of an old lady's leavings before my meal and i was blown back. I would also ask that the establishment ensure that the restroom door is closed completely at all times.

The service was good and very friendly, but I wasn't told that the sausage was out until after my order was served, and my hot water was served in a plastic cup. I recommend the Pesto Panini; the Cuban Panini is good but nothing really special. There server was good about telling us about non-menu items -- much appreciated.

Great food made from scratch. They have a sign that states "no heat lamps or microwaves and everything is made fresh." And it taste delicious too. After this wholesome experience, they have turned me into a regular.

  • Miguel P.

Three words. Excellent; excellent; excellent. The wait can be a bit long but if you notice the sign they don't use heat lamps or microwaves and you can taste it in the food! My girlfriend and I ordered the Poblano crepe (savory) and steak skillet with over easy eggs and with a couple of cafés de la olla (sweetened cinnamon coffee - weekends only) and we loved everything. Will try the sweet crepes and waffles soon enough. Next time I will call in my order on the drive there. ;)

First time here and pleasantly surprised. The food is wonderful, service is moderately ok. It's not upscale but the food suggest that it should be. A little disappointed in the decor, it's nice but I'm not a plastic plate kinda guy but for a start up new restaurant, I understand. Gotta save where you can. At least they didn't skimp on the food. But the best thing I can say is that for breakfast in this location, no other restaurant comes close. This will be my Saturday, Sunday breakfast spot. Oh they do orders to go but forget that. Get your behind out of bed and enjoy this place. It's a good thing.

A good small place to come and get so good food. Be ready to wait a bit to get ur food cuz there is only one cook and every thing is made to order. But it is so worth the wait enjoy!!

I love this place. The food is savory. It does take long for your orders to come out but in my personal opinion it is worth the wait.

This place was amazing! I ordered the poblana crepe. My husband ordered the chicken pesto panini (he loved it!) we even put a special order for my son just scrambled eggs with cheese.Quick service and the food was delicious. Will definitely come again. Although there was only one guy in the front he was very attentive. Happy I found this place!

Came here to try out their Panini's. Glad I did. It is a small cafe that probably holds 20 people. You are greeted by the only server in the cafe. He is polite but obviously overloaded on tables. There is a sign that states everything is made fresh to order ( which it is!) but also states to be very patient. They have a good selection of Pancakes, Waffles, Crepes and Paninis as well as an awesome Churro you must try! After being immediately seated, I patiently waited as the only server began to dart back and forth from the back of the restraurant to the front, serving food and drinks as fast as possible. Seeing he wasn't standing around, I did not feel to impatiently at being attended to, but still had an effect on the experience. After around 8 minutes of waiting, he got around to taking my order. Being around breakfast time but pretty hungry, I chose the Belgian Waffle with toppings of banana and condensed milk (Yum!) and the Mushroom Pesto Panini. the waffle was slightly crisp on the outside, but soft once sliced open and with the sliced bananas and condensed milk to hold it all together was quite a nice blend. The panini was also great. the mushrooms with melted cheese and pesto holding it all together was something I was glad I tried. and the churros? 'nuff said. if only they could have another server or less wait times would it truly be 5 starred.

My husband & I found this little gem about a month ago. We go for breakfast usually every weekend! Every time we've tried something new and we've never been disappointed. The veggie omelette and veggie skillet are both perfectly seasoned and never bland like veggie items can be a lot of the time. The Crepes are all excellent. My favorite is the poblano. The chicken pesto panini is amazing, and if you substitute the chips for salad, it's a spring mix with tomatoes, not the iceberg junk that most places use! The only "bad" thing is that they've become so popular that they get really busy sometimes. They only have 9 or 10 tables. There are only 2 servers, most of the time only one, but they are very friendly & polite. I don't know how they're getting bad reviews, because even when we've had to wait 30 minutes or so, it's definitely worth it.

I am all for supporting local business so I will write a nice review. There are no restaurants like Caramelo Cafe in La Puente. I would know, I grew up here and the norm is Mexican food. Caramelo Cafe serves typical American breakfasts, such as the usual eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. I ordered the Chicken Pesto panini and I was expecting the usual, generic pesto taste but this panini was unlike any others I've had. It had a gooey, cheesy inside, paired with tender, moist chicken. The pesto did not taste like it was store bought at all either. It tasted fresh to me. We also ordered the Club Panini which has turkey in it, served with chips and a pickle on the side. The person who ordered it was amazed by the flavor and because of that panini they will be coming back here to get lunch. I couldn't leave without ordering a Crepe for myself. I got the crepe (I forgot the name of it) that contained nutella, bananas and strawberries. It was so good. The crepe was not soggy and all the ingredients complimented each other. Amazingly, I finished all of it and it was huge to begin with. My sister didn't like the tap water but she is a diva so we'll let that slide. Also, our silverware did not arrive with our food but I'll let that slide too because they fixed their mistake quickly. Service was overall attentive, friendly and accurate with our orders. The girl working the counter mentioned they do take out too. Caramelo Cafe gets five stars based on the taste of their food alone. Keep up the good work and yay for small businesses!

I was looking up a place that had lunch that wasn't "fast food." I got the steak panini and the chicken and mushroom crepes. Everything had good flavors but I felt like the steak should have been trimmed before it was grilled. There were still some connective tissue or tendon that I had to spit out. I ordered over the phone and originally wanted the steak sandwich not panini but that's okay. Also, I was asked if I wanted chips, fries, or something else and got the fries. I didn't know it was gonna be an extra charge until I picked up the food. Would've been nice to be informed beforehand. For $9 total, the sandwich was okay.

I just came back from having breakfast there for the 1st time and I have to say it was good. I had the belgium waffle combo with strawberries, chocolate syrup and whipped cream on top! You also get a side of homefries, 3 strips of bacon and eggs. you can put other toppings on there but I couldn't say no to strawberries. It was all really good and the portions are big to get you full. One thing though is that the food does take a little time to come out to you but they have a small kitchen and I've noticed that they don't use a microwave to heat things up so everything there is pretty much made fresh. It kind of reminds me of the restaurants in NorCal because most of the food there are made fresh. The place is a little small but not a lot of people know about this place so I'm guessing that once it starts getting popular they'll probably add more tables. The services is really good and the people that work that are really nice! They do except cards btw

Thank you fellow Yelpers for leading me to this little gem. It is in the most unsuspecting shopping plazas but when you walk in the atmosphere is light and friendly and looks recently remodeled with fresh paint and a few French cafe inspired reproduction paintings. We ordered cafe de la olla and a black coffee, a churro, the crepe special and a Greek omelette. We arrived for a late lunch so it was perfect timing. Service was beyond fantastic! Food was delicious, served fairly quick and in healthy portions. Will definitely return to explore the menu further. And yes, they accept credit cards!

Came here after a hike, and liked that they had healthy options. I got the greek omelette and was filling n tasty. My bf got the apricot crepe n it looked amazing. Do not order water though, it tastes like hose water. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are perfect. I recommend it.

I really want to support this establishment because it is such a rare place to have in La Puente. I decided to try this place out with my cousin and we had an awesome experience. The staff was extremely friendly and approachable. We ordered the crepe with cajeta, banana and pecans but they accidentally made the Paris crepe with nutella, strawberries, banana and whipped cream. They ended up giving us both! The crepes were delicious and we were not disappointed! I'll be coming back again soon to try the other things on the menu, I'm very excited!

I traveled to that area for a training today. Waited a bit over 15 minutes pass 8a.m. According to yelp, they open at 8, according to their sign on the window, 7:30 a.m. I was bit disappointed...

The Crapes are amazing. Had the Chipotle flavored ones and it was great my mother had the Paris Crepe I believes it was called that was also good to. I recommend the Frappacino mocha that was a nice drink not to sweet compared to other places like Starbucks

I really hope that they hire more servers for this place because the food is pretty delicious. The only problem is how long the entire process is. My fiancé and I came here on a Sunday morning around 10am and we were there for almost 2 hours. We got a table as soon as we walked in so the rest was spent waiting for the food and check. I have to admit that the staff is really friendly, but I wouldn't come back here unless I have a lot of time to spare. With that being said, my fiancé and I ordered a Ham & Egg Melt, Tuscan Skillet, 2 Orange Juices and 2 Churros. Our total was $22. The Ham & Egg Melt was really cheesy and savory, but it had a lot of (what I believe was mayo) and it became overwhelming. However, I liked the potatoes that came with it and we both loved the homemade churros. They're REAL churros. Not Jack in the Box style. lol Hot, crunchy, sweet but not too sweet... yum! I really want to come back here and try their lunch items but hopefully it will be a little faster next time.

I work in the same shopping center and this is the first time coming here, and I must say it's very nice and clean beautiful presentation with very friendly staff. I ordered a chicken panini and it was very yummy with lots of flavor and the cheese just melted in my mouth it was heaven. I'm glad it's only a couple of steps away from where I work. I will visit again shortly.

Been looking for a place within this area that serves Panini's as well as Crepe's and Waffles. I'm glad I found this place. Its a fairly small restaurant within a plaza so its pretty easy to miss. Love the ambiance, especially when you walk in. The food is amazingly good. I had the steak panini with chips as well as the Paris Crepe. Definitely recommend trying if it's your first time. If you're a fan of nutella, then its a must try! This place is quite small so it's not recommended for big groups but if you place an order more than $50, they said they would deliver. This place only takes cash but there is a BoA ATM inside a supermarket in the same plaza. Overall, this is a great go to spot if you're craving something sweet or just want a sandwich/panini. I will definitely try to come here with my coworkers on a weekly basis.

I just left this place like 5 minutes ago, and I must say it is the best food in La Puente BY FAR!! My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after stumbling upon it on Yelp, and we were very impressed. The cafe's location is in a place where I would have never thought a crepe place would be, but once you enter you definitely get the feel that you are in a legitimate cafe. But atmosphere aside, the foooood, OMG YUM!!!

nice...finally a good place for breakfast and deserts in the city of la puente. Everything is made to order. Churros are so delicious here. The outside isnt over seasoned with sugar and cinnamon. The inside light and creamy. Chicken poblano was also good. Maybe could have used a little less salt. Draw back to this place is that the wait is really long. This place caters so they seem to be short staffed. But if you have time on your hands this is a great spot to satisfy your sweet tooth

Bomb ass place. Waffles are amazing!!!! Churros are like heaven. Everything is bomb. Chill little spot. The food takes awhile to come but it's FRESH! Worth the wait. Service is amazing. I'll be coming back more often.

This is my first visit, but not my last. I ordered their breakfast crepe (ham, mushrooms, mozzarella) & home fries. Best home fries ever, crisp but still most. The crepe stuffed with food. Only drawback is the waitstaff. Only one person for the small restaurant & that makes time take longer for refills or other requests. I will return to try their other crepes & paninis.

not bad food. service is real crappy.. it's a small place and it appears to be too much for two people to handle... so my advise is to get it to go, but order it a half hour before you go and still wait 10 minutes..

Outstanding breakfast. We tried a variety of offerings including the Pancake Special, Waffle Special, a Ham and Egg Sandwich and a Crepe. All were extremely generous portion sizes, beautifully presented and a great value. Highly recommend all entrees that we tried. I suspect that everything on the menu is outstanding.

Agree with the other reviews. Great food and delicious abuelita hot chocolate. Chicken pesto panini, salad, and churros are recommended. I can't wait to try their crepes. I have nothing bad to say about this place! It's a little smaller than I had imagined. Although they were packed, I was dining alone so there was no wait. I ordered my food and they had it out in no more than about 10 minutes. I ordered the Crepe Special which comes with eggs, bacon or sasuage and a crepe. My meal was excellent! I don't live in the area but if I ever get back out this way, I'll come back again!

I had an amazing lunch at a very affordable price here at Caramelo Cafe. The waiter was great and very prompt / attentive. The food is excellent! Even better than those in the expensive cafes on Ventura Blvd. The interior is classy and cozy. The place is kind of hidden but it is worth the find! It is highly recommended.

I was quite pleasantly surprised with this place! I got one the crepe with banana, strawberries, and nutella for $6 (tax included) and was really impressed by the quality of it. What I really like about this place is that you'll spend as much as a fast food restaurant, but it's much healthier, and tastes just as good. I'll definitely be coming back in the future to try their lunch food. They also have other traditional breakfast foods such as waffles, omelettes, and those ham, bacon, sausage breakfast plates. I hope this place can survive!

  • Kenny L.

I just love this place. I love their waffles, I love their crepes, I love their omelets, I love their sandwiches and I especially love their frappes, it's so wonderful. I've probably been here around six times, and I enjoyed each one with the exception is on one of the Sundays, the frappe wasn't as good and the crepes was ok. So this leads me to believe that the main chef isn't there on Sundays. If you had a bad experience , give this little diamond in the rough, another chance and come back again that isn't Sunday

Came in here with High expectations because of the 4.5 star review on yelp but it had it's ups and downs. 1. We ordered some cafe de la olla drink special but after 10 minutes the waiter brings a regular coffee and a lil bit of the special drink and says sorry we ran out. So they took that off the bill as well. 2.we asked for sugar and they forgot and we had to ask for it again after 10 more minutes 3. We got the waffle special with the Nutella strawberry banana crepe and churros. The waffles were good with strawberries. The eggs and the potatoes were just so so. The creeps were really good. 4. We waited for churros for a long time but after we finished the meal the waiter comes and says sorry the churros got burned so we had to put new ones in and that they won't charge us for it. Overall service was okay but the food was what made up for it.

Awesome place! The crepes are AMAZING! I used to only go to IHOP for crepes, but then I found this great little place. The orders are larger here AND cheaper than IHOP. I hope to see this little cafe grow and expand into a larger company. It definitely deserves more recognition. And the staff is also very friendly and they seem genuinely invested in their guests. Definitely going to be coming back often.

As long as you aren't in a rush This small café has only a few people working here, is constantly busy, and makes all food fresh. This means that you have to wait a while, but the food is beyond belief. The wait isn't too long, but it is considerable. The prices are reasonable, and the selection is decent, but not extensive. The place is very clean, and it only has one bathroom. For breakfast, the Crepes are delicious, and have a light, fluffy texture, simple to cut and eat. They come in sweet and savory flavors such as strawberry and spinach, respectively. They also have a delicious Breakfast skillet, outfitted with a healthy serving of potatoes cut widely, and eggs above. They also have an amazing omelette, served with fresh avocado, peppers, and a serving of potatoes. For lunch, they have a variety of Paninis, ranging from Chicken Pesto to Chipotle, served with kettle chips and a spear pickle (this can be substituted by fries or a salad for a little over a dollar). The chicken is sliced generously, and is perfectly moist. The fresh bread was warm and wasn't too difficult to bite, as some bread that is overtoasted is. All things considered, the food was great, fresh (a rarity), and not too expensive for its kind. The breakfast, such as the omelette or skillet, is served with more than enough food, making the price reasonable. Despite the wait, I would give the restaurant a good 4 stars.

This place is amazing! Food was great (I had the crepe special, wife had western omelette). Eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was thick and delicious, and the Paris crepe with Nutella, bananas, and strawberries was outstanding. Place is small, but pretty clean and very nicely decorated.

Positives- This place was delicious! I described it as La Puente's hidden gem. Sandwiches, Crepes, Shaved Ice, Paninis, and churros just about everything I've tried has been excellent! Negatives- Now is the time to hire a waiting staff. Never get a refill, half of the time the guy doesn't understand you and the other half you don't understand him. And he will get your order wrong. Lol Super nice guy just not a waiter. Upside- Every time my order has been wrong I still ate it and it was delicious!!! Thanks for serving me something I still enjoyed.

I visited this wonderful crepe place last Saturday afternoon around 1PM. It is located in a Hispanic shopping center. The place is small and has about 9 tables. About 5 other tables were occupied and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. I wanted to try everything on the menu but only had one tummy. After finding out I was able to replace my side with eggs for $1.49, I ordered a Mushroom Pesto Panini and two sunny-side-up eggs. The Pesto Panini was very yummy even though they did not put grilled tomato in it as described on the menu. The price is reasonable, $6.99 for the panini and $1.49 for two eggs. I am definitely coming back here to try their savory crepe and sweet creepe. Just be aware that Caramelo Cafe closes at 5pm on weekdays and 4pm on weekend.

Food was sooo good. I had come here before and left due to the wait being too long. I was left intrigued by the amount of people waiting to be seated and was determined to see why. Well came back today and fortunately, the wait was less than 15 min. Roberto was so pleasant. And our waitress was a sweet heart. Yes, it's super small and they are running all over the place. I can see where it can be overwhelming for the staff. But, if you go there with patience and just wanting to enjoy good food, then this is your place. I will be making it one of my frequented places. Luv the chorizo and waffles.

I have been waiting to come to this place for a long time and I finally came today. Let's just start of by saying this place is amazing. I'm all about the whole in the wall places that makes you feel like your in another country or city. The staff is really friendly and attentive. The food is great. The breakfast I got was just perfect from the egg whites and bacon to the FABULOUS creepe. The ingredients are fresh and the flavor to it is just perfect. The order came to me in less than 10mims so there was no wait. I'm happy I came here and I'll be coming back very soon with my husband and more family. People who complain about this place like the last next to me should just stick to a chain restaurant cause they don't appreciate family owned quality food.

I have very mixed feelings with this place. I was delighted to see a cute little restaurant in this somewhat rundown shopping center, and it did indeed seem like quite a little diamond amongst rocks, so I was thrilled to visit here the first time. Even with their cash only policy. Hey, if the place is good, going to the bank first is a small thing. The ambiance is great, decor is cute and clean (it IS pretty new) and welcoming. It's a small location with no more than 7 or 8 tables. Nice and homey. The server was friendly and we chatted a bit. It all started so promisingly. Once we ordered, however, things went downhill. Our coffee took forever, as did our waters. When my coffee finally came, there was no cream at our table so I asked for some. He never returned with cream. Ever. I took some off a neighboring table. I don't know if this server has memory problems, but each time we asked for something (another spoon, more napkins, ketchup) he would say he would get it, and then it seemed he would get distracted on the 8 or 9 steps it took to get back to the kitchen, and so our requests for an item were completely disregarded each and every time. I never experienced anything like it. Anyhow, after a VERY long wait for very simple orders, maybe 35 minutes or so, we received our food. I know I had one of the crepe dishes, and it was good, and the presentation was very pretty too. Every one in my party enjoyed whatever it was they got, and I honestly don't remember what the exact dishes were, but the wait time and the extremely poor service were definitely turnoffs. The poor service is disarming, however, in that the wait staff is friendly and courteous. You wait and wait and wait while the staff is friendly, so it is confusing. One gets bad service, but with a smile. I gave it another chance a month or so later, thinking that perhaps the server and chef had had an off day. It was an exact repeat of our first experience. Decent food, good quality, nice presentation, but the service is so slow and so poor, with the wait time for food so long that this place is just not worth it. A 40 minute wait for eggs and bacon is WAY too much in a half filled tiny dining room. And it's a shame. I really wanted this place to work out. It really is such a little gem, like I said above, in a neighborhood lacking in good, original food establishments that I still have hope that they will train their servers to do what they are supposed to do, but I can't take that chance any more. A tragedy, really.

Delicious! I had the Poblano crepe and my friend and I shared the Banonna crepe and Garden omlette. The special coffee has abuelita hot chocolate. They do take their time with the service..everything is fresh. This was a gem, close to home.

If i could give this place no stars i would! Walked and sat down only to be ignored for ten minutes! Never got a menu - was never greeted...not even a glance! Extremely rude...walked out - super embarrasing!

Let me start by saying that the food is very good and delicious. My wife and I ordered the Hobo Skillets. We got there and it was full inside with no place to sit so we figured we might as well take it to go. We placed our order at 10:25 am and didn't get our food until 11:05 am. I saw a family that was sitting and waiting for their food when we got there, so they must have been waiting longer than that for their food. So had we stayed there to eat we would've waited a good 45 mins to sit down and another 45 mins for our food. That's just way too long....I understand it's a small place but this ruins the experience for anyone trying this place out for the first time. This was our first time and it couldn't have gone worst. The food is good enough that we would go back, but we will call in the order next time for pickup. Not great for parties larger than 2 people so be prepared to wait to sit and also wait for your food. Not sure why no other reviews say anything about the wait time. We were their on a Sunday Morning. Maybe that's one of their busy times during the week. The staff was friendly and food was great. The wait time is just way too long if you're trying to get breakfast but you might end up sitting down to eat lunch instead with the wait being that long.

I expected more from this place since it had a high rating on yelp. The food was ok, nothing really special. I had the chorizo omelette but I didn't really taste or see chorizos. It was very bland and had to put tapatio to add some flavor. The hot chocolate was good but didn't seem too special. I probably wouldn't go back here because the price was not that good and there's other breakfast places with the same price that is much better.

Today was the second time I come to this place and i love it here! I usually come here for breakfast before work and 2 times that I've came I've been very satisfied! I love their Belgium waffles and bagel breakfast sandwiches. I will definitely come back here more often.

This is great place for breakfast. The prices are very fair and the selection is good for a small place. There is lots of parking in the shopping center and the service is fine. We ordered the chorizo skillet and paris crepe, both were tasty.

The allure of Abuelita hot chocolate drew me to this place for breakfast. I had coffee and breakfast waffle, with bacon, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. The waffle was hearty and vanilla flavored, didn't need to be drowned in syrup. One child enjoyed a hearty breakfast sandwich which was scrambled eggs, ham, and cheese on grilled sourdough served with potatoes. The other child had the Jr kids meal, which was two pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs, and 2 bacon slices. The Abuelita hot chocolate was reminiscent of my childhood, the cinnamon flavor came through. The service was friendly and prompt, had several coffee refills. My only complaint was the scrambled eggs, they were over-cooked. I prefer a more tender scrambled egg, but it's my preference and not everyone. A good find in La Puente.

I went to this place because of the reviews and looked like a simple breakfast place. I walked in and no one acknowledge my friend and I so we sat down and got our own menus. We asked if we could order and the man said well did u seat yourself? If you did we don't know your here! Really?? You don't see us sitting down? We finally ordered our food, we got our coffee 15 minutes later and our food 45 minutes later!! It truly doesn't take that long to make scrambled eggs and bacon! There were only 3 other tables there so there's no excuse of them being busy. Maybe I just had a bad experience but no coming back

Everything we ordered was deelish. The service was awesome and super friendly. Small little place so be prepared to wait. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is due to my food being in the cold side. They don't have microwaves or heat lamps so your food is destined to be cold. I totally respect the concept they're going for but I like my food piping hot. Other than that, the place is great!

First of all I am not a reviewer type of person but when I came to this restaurant I really want to write something about my experience. First time I came to Caramello, I was greeted by the man which I don't know his name but he's very kind and when I was asking for a table for 2 adults and 1 baby he asked me to wait about 5 minutes and he kept his promise. Before the 5 minutes was over the table was ready. Talking about the food, they have a really good food. I had Texan skillet (if I am not mistaken) and my husband had Greek omelette and they were so good. Overall, they have nice people and good food. Definitely will come back and highly recommended!!

My GF were in the City of Industry area and she wanted crepes. Some quick Yelping action brought up Caramelo Café. We loved everything about our eating experience here. She had crepes, I had an egg white omelet and both were absolutely delicious. The coffee was notably excellent as well (I'm a bit hard to win over when it comes to saying a cup of coffee is especially delicious). Service was very prompt and friendly. Although we drove approximately 45 minutes from Riverside to handle other business in the area, we both agreed Caramelo Café would solely be worth the drive just to eat here again. It's clear the owner(s) had a specific vision in mind for this restaurant, and it's been well executed.

Their food was okay but not really that great. The only thing that really made me give this place three stars was the amazing crepes other than that the service was terrible, i had to wait forever for something i can make at home.

  • G B.

My Food was good, I got the french toast special. Although my potatoes were a bit under cooked, but that wasn't the problem. Now as far as the service, it definitely is terrible! The short man with glasses is incompetent/rude!! No customer service skills, needs a new job where he doesn't have to deal with people.

I was craving crepes just like the ones from The Venetian in vegas. So I found this place in the middle of a strip mall (not normally a place I would choose to dine) but I was so pleasantly surprised. The Paris crepe is amazing. The coffee is great too. Space is limited inside if you go on the weekends during breakfast expect to wait. But it is well worth it.

chocolate syrup belgium waffle with bananas. do it. just do it. I found this cute little spot off of yelp one morning in search for something that'll satisfy both myself and the boyfriend. He wanted eggs. I wanted not-eggs. Ive only been here once, But i definitely need to make a trip back asap! I cant even remember what I ordered other than that waffle. Coffee was good, its fresh. You smell it once you walk in. SNIFF SNIFF.. AHHHHH.. However, I came like 2-3 months ago so things might;ve changed, but theyre definitely understaffed. Hope they hired more people. facility is clean. small. Located in a market plaza. parking is free. lots of space available. Prices are reasonable. thumbs up.

Short: Probably won't be coming here again. The combination of mediocre food and harried waiters turned me off to this restaurant which had the potential to be a repeat visit :( Long: (+) Located in a large plaza with lots of parking. Has potential to be a cute brunch place. We were seated quickly and the waiter spent a lot time to give us in-depth recommendations (which ended up being half of the menu). Reasonably sized portions. Didn't have to wait too long for food to be served. (-) Tables were a bit crowded and slightly dirty even after being wiped down. Took 5-10 minutes to get the attention of wait staff to ask for the check. *Of special note: Poor check-card-swipe-pay process. I felt very pressured when the waiter hovered over me while paying via Square on his iPad. There's pre-calculated tip amounts for 15, 20, and 25% and an option to 'enter your own amount'. The options were only in whole-dollar amounts, which got me stuck chosing between two dollar amounts which i felt were both inappropriate. I chose the smaller amount and felt bad as the waiter continued to hover over me. A simple solution would be to pay at the counter, with the iPad facing the patron and away from the person completing the transaction. Easy. 1. Blended coffee: I ordered the mocha flavor, and I think I received a mixture of the mocha and caramel together. Not sure if it's because I haven't had a frappacino in a while so I'm misinformed of what one's supposed to taste and look like, but it wasn't worth the money. *If* I were to return to give the establishment a second shot, I'd try the cafe de olla. 2. Crepe combo: Comprised of personalized eggs, bacon or sausage, and a sweet crepe of your choosing. My scrambled eggs were slightly overcooked without seasoning - I doused them in ketchup. My last bite of egg, and I'm sure a few of the intermediate ones, contained a crumb of egg shell, which wasn't the best surprise to find in my breakfast. The bacon was edible, not burned or soggy. As for my crepe, I ordered the Paris style crepe, which comes with a Nutella base, sliced strawberries and bananas, drizzling of chocolate sauce, and a dollop of whipped cream. Perhaps I waited too long to consume the crepe after it was placed on my table, but it seemed flat and uninspired. Didn't really make me feel like I was in Paris.

The service and food are excellent! this is the second time I've come here and the food is absolutely amazing! the wait was no longer then 10 min even though it was packed. All the servers are extremely nice and attentive. I will definately be coming back for more! I most def recommend to try this place out!

My girlfriend was looking for a nice brunch place on our way into Downtown LA, we found this place and were quite happy with it. The hot chocolate was to die for and her strawberry cream cheese crepe was to die for it was so sweet and sugary. My chorizo panini was pretty delicious, and the home fries were pleasantly delicious.

The food is ok, definitely not the best. Small place. We had two waiters. One just took orders, other one did everything else. He was friendly when we came in but was acting weird toward the end. Made it uncomfortable. Took forever to get our drinks, and got no refills. Was hard to get anyone's attention. Probably won't be visiting again

I may have just got the wrong thing on the menu(chorizo omelette). Omelette was a bit dry. I would've beat the eggs a bit more. Home fries were lackluster. I also got the churro. Which was actually decent. Great service.

Service and food is great. The wait for a table can be a bit long but its very much well worth it. Laredo skillet is amazing if you like a little spice.

Came here on a Saturday for Brunch based on pictures from Yelp. On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered the Texas Skillet which is a breakfast skillet of Steak, Potatoes and cheese with 3 Eggs on top. The steak pieces were stringy and not from the best cut. Really detracts from the dish when you spend more time chewing the small bits of meat. Portions were a bit small for a skillet but the presentation for my dish looked great. Would have rathered that it taste the way it looked and in bigger portions. i also had bits of my friends crepe which was nutella and banana and strawberry. The strawberries were not ripe yet and so were hard and still a bit bitter. The crepe was not of a slight fluffy texture so the whole thing seemed flat and not as flavorful. Pretty much a poorly executed dessert crepe. The staff are overly friendly. Too friendly in their speech that it sounds fake. I was greatly thanked for ordering water and for other things. Then at the very end they use Square credit processing at your table and hover why you enter the tip amount. It felt very uncomfortable. They could save a lot more per transaction if they used traditional merchant payment systems. When I found out yelp rated this place 4 1/2 stars I was shocked. Hopefully the cafe was having a bad morning because that meal was 3 stars at the max.

The very first time I went to Caramelo Cafe was perfect! After my first visit I feel like every time I go back there's no consistency, the portions are different, some of my orders are cold others hot?? Had the crepes savory and sweet, French toast, Texas skillet, pancakes, paninis. This place def needs abigger location and more staff. Btw the staff is always so tentative, so much they can do! Bon appétit!

Excellent service the food was Devine and the crêpes were Glorious, just like one of their signature crêpes "La Gloria" and if you're a coffee drinker you have to have their cafe de hoya. This cafe took me back in time when my grandpa used to make it for me. Definitely a 5 star place!

  • Cindy W.

I remember coming here when this place was new and pretty empty and now every time I drop by, it's SO crowded! This place has grown so much since the first time I came by. Their service is great, these people are genuinely nice people who want to help you out and their food is ALWAYS fresh. Fresh, however, means that there will definitely be quite the wait time until you get your food, but it's worth it! So make sure you have the time to spare! Don't try to come in during your 30min lunch break UNLESS you call in and put your order in early for pick-up. Every time I come here, I get the hot chocolate because it's the Abuelita brand and there is NO other hot chocolate like it. Their sweet crepes are delicious as well as their chicken chipotle sandwiches. YUM.

Came here about two weeks ago.. I was meaning to write this review... I was actually pretty happy with this cafe... I had their hot chocolate the banana crepe and a churro... Their hot chocolate it actually made with milk n the abuelita chocolate... The crepes were really good also n their churros are stuffed with lechera, chocolate and cajeta... They were really yummy!! My husband had one of their sandwiches and he was pleased with it as well.. The only reason why i gave them 4 stars n not five was because we did have to wait a little while for our food... But the staff was really nice and friendly and the place is pretty cozy. Also I'm not sure if the hours listed on here are accurate because it says they open at 7 am and we went today at 8:30am and it was closed :( so i drove there for nothing!

Came in on a Saturday morning. It is a very small place with limited seating. Service was terrible and waiter was rude. Took us about 15-20 minutes to get a table. The waiter was not welcoming. We ordered the ABC omelet and waffle special. I don't know if there are not enough cooks back there or servers, but it took us FOREVER to get our food. FOREVER. There weren't even any utensils on the table. Although they warn you to be patient because "it's worth it," I definitely did not think waiting 40 minutes to get our breakfast was "worth it." Plus, when the food came out, my potatoes came out semi warm...like the food had been sitting out. The only positive to this place was that the waffle was good. I got the waffles with strawberry and condensed milk. If you plan on coming here, don't come with an empty stomach because you will be waiting.

I live in the area and decided to try this place since me and my girlfriend didn't want the regular fast food joint. As we walked in the place seemed really nice good decor ,slow music, and clean tables. our server didn't take long to seat us and order to be taken. as we waited for our food we noticed a group walk in about 15 minutes later and place an order. 30 minutes went by and I see them get their food before us and seem to be the exact same order we had placed. I was outraged but didn't say anything, moments later we receive our food ,my girlfriends is lukewarm while my food is near room temperature. I was outraged of not only the time it took to receive it but to receive it below health serving standards.I asked a male server with glasses for more syrup and took him 10 min to bring it and that was after I interrupted him having a conversation with friends he was serving or group he knew ore so it seemed. I ate the food, needless to say tasted well although it was cold. I didn't make a scene then because it was a full room. I wouldn't return here again simply for the service I received and the food being cold. Trust me no tip was left.

Been coming here for the past 10 months. My wife and I have become accustomed to eating here at least once a month. No fancy descriptions needed... Food is really good. Bacon awash done right, the crepes are amazing, the home fries are delicious, their coffee is always freshly brewed... And the waffles are amazing. The wait can be long sometimes but it's definitely worth the wait. This place is tiny and would definitely benefit from a larger locale. All their food is made then and there. Definitely a must. Try their poblano crepe, it is delicious.

My bf and I decided to try this place out this past Sun, based on the yelp reviews and ratings. The owner took my name down like around 11:30am and said it would be a 35 min wait. We didn't get seated till 1pm. Two other parties were seated shortly after us but for some reason their orders were taken first. We finally got our drinks with no straws, was given a dirty spoon for my bf's coffee. We finally ordered our food (a churro was part of it). We kept seeing other parties who also ordered churros, getting their churros first as appetizers. I had ordered the strawberry cream cheese crepe combo, they first brought out everything except the churro and crepe (both our dishes were not all that warm). I then told the waiter I was missing my churro and crepe. About 5 min later the owner comes and asks what I was missing, so I told him. I then finally get my churro about 10 min later. Another 10 min went by and still wasn't brought my crepe. My bf then once again told the waiter I was still missing my crepe and he complained about it. Finally like 2 min after that I got my crepe (after we had finished all our food). It was tasty though, but the service was horrible. They did not charge us for my meal, however this will be our first and last time for us.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this place a 20. I wish there was 1 on Orange County. Our entire family loved our meals. Probably coming back for lunch before I head home! Doesn't matter what you order, its all delicious. I ordered the waffle combo.

Food quality 5 stars....just as pictures show or better n amazing taste/quality but the service n wait time for service is horrendous. Guy (probably owner) beyond dirty jeans, trying to take orders, pass out food n cover register? Trust issues maybe? Well, not a register at all, takes cards on iPad. I said no 'mozzarella cheese' on my crepe so they decide to dump a bucket of parmesan which to a non-dairy consumer is pretty gross. He apologized n took it back n returned a perfect breakfast crepe stuffed with ham, mushrooms & spinach and skillet potatoes with bell peppers & onion. Very very veryyyyy small cafe but they do take-out which is what I'll be doing next time. PS cafe de la olla- delicious!

I am a fan simple as that. I was looking for some pancakes and didn't want to go to IHOP or Denny's. Well La Puente sorely needs smaller shops serving a good breakfast fare. I had their pancakes with 3 eggs bacon and home potatoes. The potatoes were tasty and eggs and bacon were pretty standard. The pancakes were fluffy and had a good taste by themselves perfect with a little butter and syrup. The only reason I didn't rate better is because there is truth in that they are understaffed. Though I can understand this being a fairly new place. Hopefully they can get enough business to take over a bigger location nearby. In regards to the service those serving us were courteous they did get our food quickly and didn't run into the complaint that some people said of cold food or waiting too much. We did run into a few times of not getting what we needed to enjoy our meal a little better as quickly as we liked. Cash only is fine as long as you know ahead of time. Come on people carry a little cash.

The ambiance is okay, the food is GREAT! It is well worth the wait, definitely!! Staff is very nice. We tried the ham and cheese panini with belgian waffles. Great choice!! Prices are average for a breakfast/brunch spot. $8-$11 Only go if you have about 30 minutes to wait for your food.

Walked in to a full house, so we had to wait until a table for two opened up. Along the hustle & bustle they forgot about us despite parties clearing up. Perhaps because the place is small they decided to cut costs by having less waiters on the floor. Bad strategic planning, as tables were unattended. You pretty much have to hope your items are brought out accordingly on the first attempt, otherwise good luck waving them down. Husband went for the steak & eggs, with a cafe de olla--non refillable by the way. Again because I am always up to give my taste buds a challenge, had the manila crepe. Nothing to rad about the steak & eggs. The cafe de olla tasted like ur standard coffee, & to think it's $2.99 a cup. Skip out on it. The manila crepe was a good pick except that the mangoes were not ripped. Decided to put them to side & proceed as the taste was too good to pass by. & as I was too hungry to wait for a waiter to come by. Plus all the flavors added to my happiness, & honestly didn't want another deception like my chocolate abuelita that never came up. Although low key I was happy it didn't because that's all the sweetness I could have for a day. FYI: as I was abruptly told u can't get one & one meaning a sausage or bacon when placing a combo. Damn it's not like I wanted steak!! Will I come back? Probably not, one time is enough for me.

A nice, quaint, family-owned restaurant. Seating is limited and the staff is small, so be prepared to be patient. However, the food was good and the service was awesome. Really enjoyed talking with our server. Items ordered: 1. Waffle with strawberries - typical waffle, delicious but not spectacular. 2. Greek omelette - enjoyed the ingredients, but wish it was larger.

How is this place so highly rated? I ordered two omelets and they were burned and did not taste good. They were nice and they seemed busy so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them two stars but based on the omelets alone the place gets 0 stars.

  • Gabriel G.

The food was pretty good I'll give them that, and their prices were really affordable, but the only hang up is the space that this place is allotted. It was an average Sunday, I would guess before the after church bunch swings by, but it took maybe 30 minutes to get seated. The "room" is too small for the business that they experience. I'd probably recommend this place because it feels like a little hidden gem in that not so pretty shopping center, and also for the fact that my meal here was one of the cheapest meals that I have had in a while!

Our favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. I love their cafe de olla, their churros, and chicken pesto panini. You will not find another place like this in La Puente. They will have to get a bigger place very soon since it is well known now!!!

Now accepting credit/debit card is a major plus. Food is always great here. Paris is the immediate favorite. I was looking for a nice place with crepes. Luckily I found this place and have always come here for my breakfast. It is a little pricy but your taste buds will be in awe from the savory delights they have to offer.

So originally I loved this place because we don't have places like these in our neighbor hood but the service is really slow, I would also have expected them to accept Cards now that they have been open for a while. Other than slow service and cash only policy the server is kind

I really wanted to like this place. :( We stopped in to have a late breakfast and I was already put off from the moment I stepped in by the odd location of this cafe. There was only one person working the front and it seemed quite busy. It took us almost 15 mins to just get acknowledged and have our orders put in.....btw, this place has a whopping 6 or so tables......if the staff was organized appropriately, the wait time should not be such. Again, wait time for food was about 30 mins....fine, we begin to munch. I ordered the pancake special, which consisted of a stack of pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 sausages, and a pile of home fries. My "scrambled eggs" came out looking like a wannabe quiche and they were cold. The sausages (probably prepackaged) were raw in the middle. What....the... How does such a highly rated place serve RAW PORK to its customers? I was done at that point, having only slightly tasted my quiche of a scrambled egg and soggy home fries. This place deserves no stars. Dear Chef/Owners...please go back to school to learn how to properly cook a pre-made sausage. These two stars are not for you, it's for the gentleman you have working in the front who you have doing ALL the work for you in the front of the restaurant and also who you are probably underpaying. The End.

This place is soooo good. The service is great and the good comes out in reasonable time. The food itself is amazingly delicious. There's this family vibe once you are greeted. My cousin and I got three crepes. The chipotle, the Paris and another one that has marmalade. Everything was made with perfection and their coffee is really good too. Great place to drop by with friends and just have a good time !

The prices are very reasonable and the food is spectacular. The location is odd but it's very cute inside the hit chocolate is amazing. There was only one waiter but the place is small so it worked. Very good service. New favorite brunch spot!

Saw this place on yelp and had a 5 stars review, yes I am a fan of places with 5 stars. Unfortunately it was not a 5 star in my book. Went here on Sunday, a few table was taken but we did sat down right away. There were menus on the counter but none at the table. Took the guy about a good 10 min to finally took our order and another 30-40 min until the food came out. I ordered the waffles special.(it was only $7.50). The thing I dislike was the fact that I waited that long and when my plate arrive , all the food was cold. Yesss I was expecting fresh and warm food right out the kitchen since it did take that long. The food was a-ok , nothing special. Maybe I would go again but not to dine in. I would suggest calling in and just pick it up Togo. This place need more help in the front desk and need to pay more attention to customers instead of customer trying to catch the workers attention. Long wait long wait long wait for food!! ****cash only****

The food was good but the wait was horrible! Service can really bring a place down. We got our food then had to wait 10min for utensils! The staff is nice but there was only two servers and it was too busy for them to handle it and not forget our orders or refills. My husband ate something really spicy and had to get up for a refill because no one would come by and the waitress still made him wait. She said she would bring it to our table, then proceeded to ring someone up. It's a shame about the service because the food was good. We will not be going back.

I have a thing for small cafes and I absolutely loved it here. The service was excellent and the food was extremely delicious with generous portions. Parking is in a plaza lot. No need for wifi or a TV. It's a good place to go with a small group of friends, chat, and have a cup of coffee and a churro. The bathroom is extremely clean as well.

Damn this is one of them hole in wall spots that is hard to find but well worth the visit once u eat their delicious food. The wife n I happen to stumble upon this gem while I went to use the bathroom @ the Big Saver market across the parking lot. After reading the great reviews and seeing the mouth watering pics, the wife said, We're eating here for lunch! We tried the Chorizo panini which was delicious with a side of home fries and regular fries. Big portion u can share it. I got the La Frances Crepe which was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend this with a side of crispy bacon. Once again, BIG portion u can share as well. For dessert we had their churros. Pretty good but next time we getting shave ice. There was nothing too special about them. We also had their chocolate abuelita(Hot Coco) mocha coffee which was real good as well. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 was because they took a while to bring the check and I was late to my job. Other than that, I highly recommend this spot if u happen to be in the neighborhood. It's definitely worth drive and the food.

I'm so glad I decided to come on here to find a place to eat at. Usually I just stop at places I haven't tried before and see how it goes, but I don't think I would have noticed this place if I'd done that. That would have to be the only unfortunate aspect of this place- it's location. It isn't very noticeable unless you're driving around the large parking lot it shares with other businesses. I must have been lucky because I see a lot of reviews saying that there is a lot of waiting for a table on weekends. I came on a Saturday, about 20 minutes before closing and they no other customers. Quite a few came in after me though. The gentleman working greeted us (me and two others with me) nicely as soon as we came in. He promptly handed us menus and then took our orders in sufficient time. He was very friendly and came by a couple of times to make sure everything was fine after our food was brought out (which was served to us in a reasonable amount of time). The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were great. I ordered the veggie skillet and the two with me ordered two different types of crepes. They loved them. The younger one with us (9 years old) was even inclined to go up to the gentleman and tell him he believed the place deserved 5 out of 5 stars. He thanked him for the compliment. The place is small but comfortable and is decorated lightly. It's clean and the atmosphere relaxed. Service was great :) I will be be coming by again for sure.

Food alone is a 5. I love this place ever since I found it on yelp. Their home style potatoes are amazing, there is one server we get and he's always great, however their have been a couple times where there's a girl there that is not so attentive. That would be my only reason why I didn't rate a 5 and the fact that the place is so small so you feel like if you move a little you'll hit the person next to or behind you.

Not gonna lie, the 4.5 stars brought me here. Really thought it was a hole in the wall hidden gem type of place. But nah. Caramelo has it's merits, but it's not 4.5 star worthy, let alone 4 stars. First time I was here, the food was great! Got the pesto chicken panini and the cheese and ham crepe. Both pretty good, but it took forever to be served. At least 25 minutes. There were only 2-3 tables being served. So it wasn't like it was busy or anything. I thought to myself, it might be a fluke or something. Second time I visited this place, the food took just as long as the first time. The only difference is that the food wasn't as good. Granted, this time I had ordered the omelette. The ABC omelette to be exact. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. Pretty standard. The home/country potatoes were pretty good. The service here is inconsistent. Sometime it's really good, sometimes, it's just whatever. Last time I was here, I waved my hand to get service, one of the ladies saw me and totally ignored it. Good job lady. I'm pretty big on brunch. In fact, I have an entire list just for brunch. This place is OK at best. Only reason is because there aren't too many American style brunch places around the neighborhood. The pananis are good. But I feel like it's really hard to screw up on panani. The people working the kitchen definitely need to step up their game. I'd give this place another chance, but I'm not down to wait an hour to eat. All the other yelper totally hyped this place up too much. Except Alison L. shout out to her for keepin' it real.

Decided to try this place out for breakfast with my friends Deborah (her review is right under mine) and Ashley. Although the location is in a pretty deserted plaza, the food was quite amazing (and their prices!). What did I order? Waffle Special ($7.99) - With the waffle special, you get a nicely portioned waffle with 3 eggs, 3 bacon strips or 3 sausage links, and home fries. I couldn't decide whether or not I wanted bacon or sausage so I decided to go with both. It was a great choice I might say. That costed me $1.99 extra. Other things I'd like to try next time are their churros and crepes. The picture made them look very appetizing so I'll give it a try when I come back. This place is pretty small since it's basically a hole in the wall. However, it is nicely arranged and kept up. I'd recommend to keep group parties to 5 and under. Service is very nice. As said in an earlier review, it's a little slow due to the fact the food is freshly cooked. 4/5 would eat again!

Service was better when it was just the guy. On two occasions I have came on a Saturday when it is very busy and I understand the wait might be longer but the girl that was taking the orders started with the tables that were seated last while the tables that had been waiting the longest we still sitting there without their orders being taken. The food is still amazing but they need to make better choices about their employees. There is also another guy with glasses working here and he's great! Always smiling, cracking jokes and always gives great service!

So my boyfriend and I came in on Saturday May 23 around 2:30PM. As we arrived there were many tables opened so we seated ourselves. We decided to sit closer to the kitchen since we thought it would've been easier for the only server. We ordered a "Veggie Skillet", Spanish omelette, and a crepe with two coffees. The server ( short gentleman with glasses) took our drink order first but took a long time to deliver it to us. After attempting to wave him down for the second time to take our food order, he finally approached us and took our order. I had requested my veggie skillet to be made without potatoes and cheese ONLY. I asked him whether it was okay to substitute with more broccoli or mushrooms. At first the server hesitated in substituting the order with a little more vegetables, but after he thought about it and said he would ask the kitchen to see if it could be done. The next second he threw out an immediate 'but that will be an extra charge, is that ok?' And my response was sure OK. It sounded a little weird and money hungry that he asked for an extra charge without going to the kitchen to ask whether it could be done or not even though he didn't know whether the kitchen would do a substitution. After he finished taking our order and runs to the back, he comes back to tell us there isn't any broccoli and that my skillet would not come with any broccoli. I asked him whether it was ok to change it because what's a veggie skillet with no veggies? Am I wrong or correct... But he says the kitchen had already started making it. Honestly, how difficult is it to change the skillet to an omelet. The server was so persistent in making me keep the order that I just decided to keep the order since he made it so difficult to change the order. Can you not offer me spinach or some kind of greens? All of this happened in less than five minutes and you can only go so far in making the skillet. Moving on, when the two dishes arrived, the veggie skillet came with ONLY mushrooms and eggs. They did not put any tomatoes, bell peppers, or onions as labeled on the menu. I was so disappointed because I had such high hopes in a good brunch meal. My question goes out to the server, why did you not offer or tell me ahead of time that it would not come with tomatoes, bell pepper, or onions? Our meal came out to around 30 dollars and the food was mediocre. You can basically make mushrooms and eggs at home, but you go out to pay for service. I don't think a meal with only eggs, mushrooms, and two wheat toast should be at the cost of 9$ excluding tips and tax. I'm sorry, but your service disappointed me so much I'll have to stick with penny's( isn't too far, great service too!) or flappy jacks. Although I think all brunch food is the same, the service here was terrible. I'll never come back ever again, I'm sorry!

My new breakfast place! I came here with a bunch of my girlfriends and we had an epic meal time! We all ordered either the Waffle Special or the Crepe Special and all of it was a perfect combo to fit our sweet tooth as well as our breakfast cravings. For the size of this place, the quality of the food says a lot. Everything is made to order so don't be frustrated if your food takes a little bit longer to come out versus other major restaurants that have your food as well as your whole parties food come out all at once; I would agree with what they write on their chalk board "It's worth the wait" This is a great place to bring family, friends, and significant others for a yummy breakfast! I will be back for more and to bring others to share in my enjoyment for their service and food :) Tanya, you're the best by the way! Keep up the great service!

FIRST TIME HERE I WAS BLOWN AWAY it is a little small but the service is awesome and the food is perfection. It's a private family environment and feels warm like your at Abuelitas house. The crepes are to die for delicious and fresh and the food is made really fast!! I got the Paris crepe and the cordon blue crepe bot were delicious. I will be coming here regularly from now on.

My bf and I came here today and it was amazing. Everything from the service, to the cozy decor, to the coffee, to the food quality, to the price, was excellent. The crepes and skillet we ordered: DELICIOUS. The waiter: ENDEARING. I can honestly say, this place is a true gem.

Wow! I am so glad I come here for breakfast. I called first since it's 4th of July and the gentleman picked up on the 1st ring and it's open. When we arrived, it was pack but the waiter is really welcoming and took my name. The wait was not long nor was the wait for the food. The staff here are super friendly, food are fresh to order and delicious, the prices are under $10, the chef came out in her chef outfit ( super European and cute) and the place are beautifully decorated so it's not really a hole in the wall even though it's in La Puente or at least a beautiful one. Super nice atmosphere and the cafe de olla is to die for if you have a sweet tooth like me. No creamer or extra sugar needed. It's taste like cinnamon and a taste of chocolate. I like the sign on the counter on what money can't buy but money sure can buy happiness of a happy tummy and a nice relaxing experience. Definitely will come back if in the area.

This is definitely my favorite breakfast spot the chicken pesto is delicious I always ask for extra spinach. The French toast is also good, the crepes can be delicious the first one I got was so cold it was not good. I made sure to ask the second time if I can get it when it comes out because the last time it was cold and they did and it was great. I would have given them 5 starts if it wasn't for the rude waiter, the man with the glasses I hate going when he's there. When I was ordering I wasnt sure what I wanted and I was looking over the menu for like 30 seconds more and he made a face and walked away. I was the only one there the place was empty! My food was not as good as the other times he definitely ruined it.

Came here like a blind date. Only saw pictures from yelp and the actual place was so different. Haha it's all good, Food was good! Food was fresh! The atmosphere is a nice place just to take someone. It's a pseudo sit down restaurant. So don't expect booths, just table seating. Enjoy the skillets, they're delicious.

I decided to give this place another chance and I'm happy I did. They have made several improvements since I was last there. They seemed to have hired some more people which allows them to pay more attention to customer service. While there is still some room for improvement they have made several steps in the right direction. I have both dined in and ordered to go. The food is just as yummy as I remember it

Passing through on our way home from the valley, we were looking for a great place for a late breakfast. Of course being unfamiliar with the area, we turned to yelp and it led us to this otherwise hidden gem! Two of my fellow foodie friends both ordered the Breakfast Crepe (one regular and one with bacon instead of ham) and it was awesome. Meat, cheese, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms all wrapped inside a perfectly golden brown crepe, topped off with fluffy scrambled eggs. YUM! The real winner though were the house potatoes that it came with on the side. They were expertly seasoned with bell peppers, onions and spices. The potatoes were piping hot and SO delicious. I had the hobo skillet which had a yummy scramble of those outstanding house potatoes with onions, bell peppers, cheddar cheese and diced up house made sausage. It was topped with 3 eggs cooked over easy so the yolk could seep into the goodness waiting below it. OMG-that combo was to die for! On a side note, to drink we had a peppermint iced tea (unsweetened and very refreshing), an iced coffee (just meh, nothing to wrote home about) and a blended caramel coffee drink (SUPER sweet and otherwise pretty bland). We also split a family platter of churros, filled with a delicious caramel flavored sauce made from sweetened condensed milk. There was more than enough to share and they came out with chocolate sauce on the plate and a dollop of whipped cream. Would have been nice to know this beforehand because I'm actually allergic to chocolate and we would have asked them to omit this had we have known. Also, from the menu, we anticipated receiving some dipping sauces on the side but were told after that those are not included. Bummer. So rating just the food alone, we'd give a 5/5 for sure. But then we get to the rest. The restaurant itself is super small. Like REALLY tiny and it's kind of hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for. It's in a strip of retail shops in the Rite Aid parking lot and parking doesn't seem to be any issue. What IS an issue however was the heat. There is little to no ac in this place and the fact that it was over 100 degrees outside when we were eating made for a pretty unpleasant experience inside, since we had to rely on the ceiling fans which frankly didn't cut it. Also, the unisex bathroom was dark and needs a good scrubbing. They were also out of toilet seat covers, but for the men - spoiler alert, there IS a urinal. Lol Lastly, be forewarned, while the 2 people working were very nice, the service itself was BEYOND slow. They have a sign posted that everything is fresh made, but it still should not take 35 minutes to cook 3 plates of breakfast food.. speaking of which, not only did our food not come out all at the same time, but the waitress seemed to think it was OK to bring out every single plate separately. Look I understand if you don't want to use a tray, but you have two hands, let's get it together. We also had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get the bill, which I had to ask them for at least twice; there was no ice in any of our waters and once we finally got our food, we didn't get approached once to see how everything was. While the good was 5/5, the service was at best 3/5 so that's why I'm giving it a 4 star rating. In the end, the food itself was worth returning for. I'll apparently just have to wait until the weather cools down and go on a day when I'm not in a rush. Such a shame.

I love the quaintness of this place! The staff are friendly too, but as someone mentioned before, the food does take a while to come out. My bf and I ordered: Chipotle crepe: Good crepe texture and good amount of chicken. Chipotle sauce was ok. It was too sour for my tastes because they included sour cream. Steak panini: My bf ordered this. I didn't try, but he liked it. It's a very simple panini with the meat and few veggies. Churro: Really good homemade churro. Has a little bit of filling inside. Not too sweet and so good with whipped cream. Hot chocolate: Abuelita's hot chocolate. Cinnamony, me like. Overall, food was pretty good, but took a while to come out. I wouldn't mind coming back for a leisurely breakfast/brunch, but I wouldn't recommend if you're looking to get a quick meal. This place is cash only, by the way. 3.5 stars.

For some reason my GPS couldn't find the place so I did multiple rounds and ended up having to call the place. The call was alternated b/t a couple ppl, the lady asked if I was near Basset, which I was, then said it was nowhere near there. Nobody knew the surrounding streets when I was only 2 blocks away. I asked for to-go but they took forever the take my order then ignored me the whole time conversing w/other customers in Spanish. 20min in, I wanted to see if my car was locked but they demanded I stay & pay then. I tipped grudgingly and disliked how they greeted non-spanish speaking customers. Ordered a crepe and churro which looked nothing like advertised, hastily shoved in paper. Tasted alright but I'll be apprehensive in coming back.

Good selection of sweet and savory crepes along with traditional breakfast items. Try the crepe combo which includes eggs & bacon or sausage with your crepe. We had the Crepe Gloria. The avocado, bacon and cheese omelette was pretty good. Next time we try the Abuelita hot chocolate. Now we can enjoy good food near Kaiser BP.

The smallest and best cafe. Cruising in a Latino neighbor hood and being next to the Indoor swap meet, you would never have know this place existed. Excellent food, and for a place that has about 13 tables, they draw a crowd. We waited about 30 minutes for a table to open up; it was worth the wait. We have been there three times and we will be back very soon.

  • Griselda S.

Great cute place with great food, great portions, great service, great prices. Seriously. The wait is worth it, the food is home-made fresh, and it's a small place so you have to understand they can only seat so many.

  • Y R.

I was extremely dissapointed. I didn't mind the wait for fresh food, but when 3 groups who came after us got their food before us it didn't make me happy. Especially when one got crepes, then churros, then their main dishes before our first plate arrived....when our food finally arrived it was cold. Only the eggs were warm. No one ever came to ask how it was, but we did get our Check half ways in. I wanted churros, but f*** that....haha as I'm writing this review someone finally asked how it was....paying and walking out...

The food: delicious. The service? Even better! Tanya, my cashier/waitress, was so nice and friendly, interacting on a personal level with every guest in the place, including myself. I had the French toast breakfast and coffee and was not disappointed. I will definitely be back to try some of their signature dishes. It IS a small place so if you're coming in a large group it may not be ideal, but groups of 4 or less would be perfect. Maaaaybe more if you put some tables together. But definitely an intimate setting. All in all 5 big stars. Especially for the service.

One of the little gems I've had bookmarked for a while! Small cafe which probably seats about 30 people at most. We arrived around 8:30am to start out day with a hearty breakfast. Remember kids ... It's the most important meal of the day! We were seated right away and ordered : abuelita hot chocolate, cordon blue crepe, la fraise crepe, side of bacon and a side of home potatoes. ( again, most important meal of the day ) The cordon blue was delicious! It was filled with loads of ham and chicken ... The hollandaise sauce was amazing! Even my partner in crime was impressed and she's very picky! The potatoes had lots of flavor and great without having to add ketchup. I wish I could tell you about the la fraise crepe but unfortunately it was devoured so fast I didn't have a chance to taste it (how ruuuude) So in the end we were very happy with our meal. Why only 3 stars? Well, we were brought out my cordon blue crepe, bacon , and potatoes in a timely matter and was told that our other order would follow immediately however, it took another 10 minutes and the rest of the food was cold by then. I know I could've started eating but I was brought up making sure that everyone at the dinning table had their plate before we started eating. But you know what ... I'll come back! I want to try their churros next. Oh and p.s our bill was around $25 .

Really cute and clean cafe. We were on our way back from Big Bear Lake and needed to make a stop for breakfast, it was surprisingly crowded for 9am on a Monday morning. The staff was really great, don't remember our waiters name but he was from Spain and truly so nice and warm. The food was great too.

This place has the best crepe in town, well it is the only place outside of IHOP that maybe serving it. The wait is long around 10 am on because it is a small place. The food is very good and we have been there multiple times. It is better than any crepe we have tried in CA. Of course it does not beat the French crepes : )

Came here after a friend recommended it to my husband. My hubby had the Breakfast Crepe Combo with Poblana crepe and he loved it. I had the Club Paninni with the breakfast potatoes and it was also super yummy. The waiter who helped us was super nice and our food came out super quick. We will definitely be coming back to this gem.

Great service and food was so delicious !! I had the abuelita hot chocolate and it was so delicious and not to sweet ! Reminds me of the one my mom would make me and my sisters when we were little !! I highly recommend the Paris crepe !! So flavorful and simply amazing !! They have great deals and will be back for lunch as they have a good selection of sandwiches !! Be patient because it takes a little time to get your order out but remember we need to wait a bit for the good things right ?? You must give this place a try !!

My little sister really loves this place and has been ranting and raving for the past few months about it. I finally broke down and decided to accept her invitation for breakfast. I guess we were lucky when we got there around 9 a.m. since we were the only other people other than a couple in the restaurant. Little sister swore up and down that it's always packed and there is a long waiting line. I guess it was my lucky day. So we both ordered omelets and crepes. The omelette was nothing to rave about and was just so so. I've had much better at other places. But I must say that the crepe that we ordered which had whip cream and pineapple was very good. 1 star for cleanliness and another star for cordial customer service and the last star for a decent order of crepes. If my sis convinces me to try it again I'll update my review, but then again, I may or may not return.

They don't have fast service, but the server do his best. They don't have hash browns, but the potato is not bad. They don't have jams, but plain toast is okay too. They don't have filled churro, they should update their menu.

First time visiting Caramelos Cafe and let me just say.. We will be back! The crepes were so delicious. The service was fast and courteous. Very friendly. Attentive, and very welcoming. The food was amazing. The chicken panini was so delicious. I recommend this place.

They only like to help people of their kind. We have been sitting at the table in front of their register for 30 minutes and they still haven't taken our order. Tables around us have been helped multiple times, and people who just walked in already got their orders taken. Idk what's going on here as I have been here before and service wasn't this bad. Only reason we are tolerating this is because there food is pretty good. But If this is going to happen again, I probably won't be going here anymore. So just a warning to my asian people.

THIS PLACE ONLY TAKES CASH! I would ordinarily dock it a star from my review, but I can't because the crepes were soooo good!!!!!!! (Luckily, there's a Bank of America ATM in the grocery store next door, so I could get moneys without a fee.) And the service was good too. My friend dropped her knife and she had a new one handed to her in 10 seconds flat! She didn't even have a chance to decided if she even needed a knife before being given a new one! I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu crepe which was absolutely amazing! It was so flavorful and delicious . . . I just can't stop thinking about it. Ordinarily crepes don't fill my belly, but this one did! And for dessert, we split a strawberry, banana & crepe. OMG! It was so wonderful! Three of us left with very full stomachs and we only paid $40 with ($6.50 tip). We will definitely be coming back!

Only been here once with hubby and our baby but we really enjoyed it! Haven't been back in a year but it's only because we don't get out much for breakfast. They staff was very accommodating and didn't even charge me for the 1 scrabbled egg for the baby. Hubby and I each got a combo that included a waffle and pancake. They were both yummy and they even spruced up my waffle with whip cream and strawberries, even though it wasn't included. The portions are perfect to finish...didn't bring anything home. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their special sweeten coffee. To much sugar for my taste.

DELICIOUS! We had the Manila Crepe and Laredo Skillet. The crepe was light but very filling. The mango inside was sweet. The skillets are great. Thinly sliced potatoes cooked to perfection topped with other savory choices and eggs to your liking. The menu looks clean and inviting. Overall, I would bring more family and friends.

What can I say. Been here 10 times since my first which was last month. Everything is GREAT. 1.Poblano Crepe 2. Spanish Omlette 3. Laredo skillet 4. Cordon Blue Crepe And so on. everything is BOMB!!!! Truly glad I found this gem. Owner from Guadalajara and a great humble person. Wish here success and happiness. Glad to support my culture

Place is small located in a shopping center, it's cute though... didn't expect much by looking from the outside. Decor was nice and pretty busy inside. I ordered the Paris Crepe and it was delicious! My gf ordered the Belgian Waffles and those looked yummy. I would go again :)

    (4)
  • Jaz K.

The food is good! They are still getting their rhythm down, went on a busy Saturday, the staff is friendly but they need more help to keep moving things along smoothly it takes them a while to get your drinks and utensils/napkins the food does take a good 30-40ish minutes and its good, tasty and made with care the crepes are delicious! Prices are accessible BUT if your picky or time crunched I would not go on a weekend there are details that I would not give them a pass on (like not bringing me my coffee ASAP or getting a refill or running out of an ingredient that is obviously popular, food not as hot as could be). I gave them 5 stars because its a small local business with good food and a good vibes, and i like support that plus this area needs more places like it! It's worth it if your in the area. I will update as I visit, those crepes are crave-full ;)

It was my first time here and I was genuinely surprised with the flavors. I ordered the Chorizo Sandwich, it was delicious! The bread was very soft yet crispy and it wasn't oily at all which was great. I also tried the Cafe de Olla which was very tasty. I'm sure even non coffee lovers would enjoy it! If you get there at the wrong time you are going to have to wait but it's definitely worth it.

  • Ashlee R.

So disappointed! We got a to-go order and had to wait 40 mins. We ordered the steak and eggs, garden omelet and mango crepe. Seasoning was the biggest issue! Potatoes were bland, steak was extremely bland. My omelet was....not sure how this is even possible, very overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside...very little cheese. Even the toast wasn't toasted, just warm. Crepe was ok, but soggy by the time I drove home (I love right across the street ).

Food: We ordered the hobo skillet and eggs with sausage. The food was decent. Food Rating: 3/5 Service: Only 1 server for this place and he was a busy bee. He will try to accomdate everyone's order. Service Rating: 4/5 Price: Expect to pay an average price of $9 if I recall. That sounds about right for the breakfast menu. Overall: I don't have a lot to say, it's just a sit down breakfast place we went to. In terms of experience, nothing stood out. Overall Experience: 2.5/5

The Crepe's and Hot Chocolate were amazing!!! I had the Laredo Skillet which was also amazing! Very homemade taste! The staff is very friendly, although short on staff they keep up as much as they can, I give them props! I recommend Caramelo Cafe!

Worst service ever, went today 5.27.15 in the morning @ 8:15 and there was a couple in there waiting for there food and another man buying coffee. Me and my daughter sat down and i had to get my own menu, no hi from the person behind the counter or good morning. Waited like 15 min b4 he came over and say do you want anything to drink? Was waiting and looking over the menu and i was ready to order the waiter was in the back laughing or flirting it up with the cook. Eventually a got up and left did not even try the abuelitas chocolate or nothing, everyone post that there food is good, next time ill go with my gut feeling about places or maybe they need to teach the waiter how to run the business.

Came here looking for a breakfast place that served "chocolate pancakes" per my son's birthday request. This place definitely took the cake! The food was AMAZING and so was the service!! My Greek egg white omelet was to die for! My husband ordered a chorizo panini (light chorizo) and though he's not a panini person, he can't wait to go back!! We'll definitely be coming again VERY soon!!

  • Leland S.

I heard about their grand opening so I checked it out with my roommate! Menu: Cajeta (Spanish caramel), banana and pecans crepé -Amazing! I wasn't too fond of caramel but this was pretty good. The mix of caramel, banana, and pecans was delicious! Ambience: The place is in a plaza with lots of parking. It can probably fit about 30 people w/ tables for usually 4 people. The place was very clean w/ pretty good music and a comforting family feel. Customer Service: The people were friendly and the service was quick. They followed up appropriately and left with good positive vibes. Overall: I give this place 4.5 stars because this place changed my mind on caramel. The food was delish, fair price and the experience was pleasant. Too bad I didn't get to try everything in the menu but I'll definitely be back when Im around the area!

First time I had the French Toast and cousin had poblano crepe, delicious. Second time, I opted for the steak skillet, was not impressed. Meat had a lot of fat, potatoes were bland. The service is ok, although there was only one waiter when we went the second time. They need to hire more staff, for sure!!

8/10/14 - Sunday Brunch With my stomach rumbling on Sunday morning, I was hoping to find a restaurant that would fill my brunch craving. Searching on Yelp I came across Caramelo Café. With a seemingly great review, I figured it would be a great place to take the wife for brunch. Unfortunately, my expectations were crushed. While the having a very cozy décor making it feel very homey, the food and service are to be desired. Here are some the highlights: Service is extremely slow. With only two servers managing the tables expect to be sitting there for about 1.5 hours. The service seemed to be forgetting parts of people's order throughout service. We ordered the Poblona Crepe, Chrizo Breakfast Panini, and Chicken Pesto Panini featured items on the menu. All three were unfortunately very bland and did not have much flavor. The food is mediocre at best (a little pricey for what you get). If you want brunch, either come early (before 10 am) or get your order to go. I would tell Yelpers to keep your expectation low and maybe you will find your meal more satisfying. Definitely don't come here when you are hangry, otherwise the service will definitely put you in a grumpy mood.

Well let me start of by saying wow. A nice quaint little hole in the wall in the hood of La Puente. Good service the food was excellent I recommend the waffles or crepes the fruit is very fresh. Prices aren't too bad either.

I finally had the chance to try this cafe after having it bookmarked for months and I'm so glad I did! It was a great dining experience very clean, friendly staff and most importantly fresh and delicious food :) Everything is fresh and made to order nothing is microwaved, no heat lamps nada! Which makes me appreciate this Cafe even more the wait for the food wasn't long at and for the price of the plates you received a good amount of food. I had the French toast special and my bf had the waffle special both were very delicious! I would definitely be back again to try more of their delicious food :)

  • Olga B.

This place was just incredible. I had been craving waffles for weeks and happened to be in the area visiting a friend. I found this place through Yelp, and it was a little tricky to locate at first. Didn't look like much from the outside but their waffles, french toast, and crepes completely made up for it. Everyone loved what they had. Can't wait to come back. Just need a reason to be in the area again! :)

Checked my Yelp this morning for some breakfast inspiration and I am so pleased to have found this diamond In the rough! It's definitely a small place, but they make it work! The staff was wonderfully attentive even in the busy Saturday morning crowd. My husband ordered the chorizo panini style sandwich which was amazing!!! And I ordered the Poblana crepe , a chicken and roasted green chile with cream sauce delight! So yummy!!! We shared the La Frais (I think that's how it's spelled) dessert crepe to go, and devoured it! I can't wait to go back and try something else!

  • Erica V.

Tried this place because of the amazing reviews and I can't understand how that happened. This place has average food, just sandwiches and crepes. Sandwiches were average and the crepes were a bit better. I ordered the chorizo sandwich and the egg was overlooked and under seasoned. Also had the cajeta crepe and the flavor of the cajeta was not my favorite, tasted too much like goat. Although the crepes are good it is not worth it. The service is terrible. Very understaffed. Just one waiter and from what it seems just one cook. I have been there twice and have waited over 40 min just sitting waiting to order and get drinks. In total for a party of 4 we waited 2 hours which was just too much time. This place is nothing special

food was great. But shave ice on Styrofoam coffee cup? Dine out maybe but not for dine in. We asked for bowl and enjoyed it... it was good. Service was ok and weekday is better without the long wait.

Really fresh food. I was surprised to have found this place in a Mexican shopping center, truly a hidden gem. Came here on a weekend, around noon, we where able to get a table, but this place is busy. A lot of people came in and left due to no seating, the location is small. I had one of their breakfast crepes with the house fries (which are not french fries btw,and my brother had the french toast breakfast. All the portions are big, the food is really good. Will continue to come back!

I am a happy camper. It is great to see a small establishment thrive! It's my first time here and I will be back. It was busy the whole time I was here. The service is prompt and polite. I wish Caramelo Cafe all the success in the world.

The service is a lil slow but for a small really small really busy place i understand the for over all is very delicious their steal sandwich !bomb! Their onelets are amazing their homemade potatoes perfection i would say but i would of given them a 5 star if their salad was good the romain the greens tasted old the rasberry vinegret was really good but it was just the salad it just tasted really old but overall great place to eat

  • Jasmid C.

I ate here a few weeks ago and I kept forgetting to write a review. But here it goes. It is a small establishment. I wouldn't recommend going in a larger group than 4, but it definitely worth the wait. The service and food is so good. I went with two girlfriends and one of them at a breakfast sandwich, I had the chorizo sandwich, and the other had a egg white omelet. The have options for any food diet you are on. And to top it off the serve Abuelita hot chocolate!!! We plan to come back again!

  • Jackie T.

I've been here enough times to say that this place is a gem in this city. The food is absolutely delicious and consistent. I've ordered the pancake special with an additional order of bacon and it was really good. Their pancakes are fluffy and on point. Usually I don't like green bell peppers in my hash but their house fries were pretty good. Bacon was crispy and the sausages were good. I've also ordered the Chipotle chicken panini with fries. I'm a little disappointed that they stopped serving the thick cut steak fries but it won't stop me from eating here. Their churros are delicious as well. Great place for something sweet or savory!

  • Hanna M.

Hey this place is goooood! Small place that would easily go unnoticed. But food is made fresh. Taste fresh. Worth the wait. I can't believe I didn't know this was here. FRESH FOOD! Great service too!

  • Laura T.

I tried this place for the first time today. I thought my dish was really good and fulfilling. I had the Poblana crepe and an abuelita chocolate. I thought the abuelita chocolate was a bit expensive, over $3.00. The place is small but very clean. I will be going back to try their panini.

Ridiculously delicious lunch! I had the pesto chicken panini & my mom tried the chipotle one. We shared the caramel cream cheese crepe. We could not stop smiling or eating. Came in after 1 on a Monday and had no wait. Food came out fast and hot. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Myra L.

Was my first time being here. Food is really good. I got breakfast and my friend got a sandwich, both were great. We did try a crepe, and it was just ok. Way too much whip cream and not enough strawberries. Both times we asked for something, we had to get up and remind them. We asked for napkins, napkins never came not until we got up to ask. We asked for water, that didn't come either, we had to get up and ask. When we went it was busy, they need to learn how multi task. But that'd beside the point. Food is good!

Hobo skillets are always great! The waffles and crepes are equally delish....order the churro they come stuffed with chocolate or caramel now doesn't that sound appetizing?!

HIDDEN GEM ALERT! What the heck, a crêperie in La Puente?! Woohoo! Such a great food selection for humble cheap prices never going over $10.00, can't go wrong with that. Very spacious seating, never really busy. Breakfast served all day! The business is apparently only about 6 months old from this written review. No one was rude or pretentious as the other negative reviews stated, my order was quickly taken with a smile. The all-American breakfast is high suggested as well. Our waiter would remember my usual order of Paris crêpes. I love their Crêpe Special of your choice of two medium sized crêpes with eggs and sausage or bacon. For our first time here my boyfriend and I got a grilled cheese panini, steak panini, and Paris crêpe all for $18.00 to-go. Not bad considering crêpes usually run for $10.00 each in other places. Everytime I go here, the waiter always greets us and is happy to see us always coming back with empty stomachs looking to be filled with such yummy food. It's a one-of-a-kind restaurant in La Puente that everyone living here needs to try at least once!

    (5)
  • Art F.

Today I ordered the chorizo omelette. Always a wait to get in here but worth it. Claire ordered ordered the strawberry crepe. There motto is "no heat lamps, no microwaves and eveything is made fresh in there small kitchen. The wait is worth it."

  • Anthony L.

So this is our second visit here. The service is lacking. First...they were out of tea. Who runs out of tea? Second...Once our food was served we had to wait about 10 minutes until I asked for utensils. The waitress didn't even notice the she sat us a table that had nothing on it. The plus side...The food is really good. I mean really good.

This place is pretty legit. Been waiting for La Puente to have a nice place like this. My party was greeted nicely by this nice guy and he kindly sat us down. There's alot of choices on the menu, but that day was feeling like a crepe day. So I decided on the chipotle chicken crepe. That crepe was pretty tasty and fluffy. It was only like 6-7 bucks. Totally worth it. I was feeling like eating something sweet after that savory crepe so I ordered one of their churros. DUDE. THESE CHURROS ARE TO DIE FOR. ONLY FREAKING $1.35 for one those these awesome churros filled with condensed milk? HELL YEAH! I will definitely come back here since it's so close. I hope La Puente has more places like this.

Love this place the food is sooooo yummy. Love the crepes and steak panini! Had the hot chocolate for the first time today it was delicious. Last time the guy who was our waiter was really rude but we went today and he was SOOO much better so will definitely be going back!

Darling and delicious. Bring your patience but truly it is worth the wait!! We all tried something different. Chorizo sandwich, Loredo skillet, Texas skillet, and of course the waffle special. We would all do it again! Thanks Carmelo

Finally! I have finally found a spot for breakfast / brunch! And to realize its only 5 minutes away. Until I find better, this is my new spot. The location is in a plaza off of Amar and Puente Ave. In the plaza, you can find grocery stores, a small flea market mall, and a bunch of small shops. You can always find parking in that parking lot. I came here with the boyfriend. The interior inside is very 'home-y' feeling and made us comfortable instantly. We were greeted by, Roberto, I think? I think that was his name. Anyways, the menu was very simple to read with a few pictures describing the food. My mouth began watering when I opened the menu! We shared a Chipotle Chicken Panini, with a side of homemade potato chips, and stuffed churros. With an Mocha Latte & Original Coffee Brew that comes with Vanilla Creme. I am not a fan of churros, let alone, filled churros and this place made me a fan! I really love that they remind us that the food should be eaten right when its out, 'cause they don't use heat lamps and microwaves. The wait wasn't long and he tended to us whenever we called for him and even when we don't! Thats amazing service! The food came out looking BETTER than the pictures, how is that even possible?! We don't ever get that kind of treatment, anywhere! I rate it 5 stars 'cause the simplicity of the cafe. It might not have A/C, but, it really is worth trying it out.

I may be of minority here, but I think Yelp overhyped this place for me. Came here for brunch on a Friday; it wasn't busy at all. At least, it didn't look it based on there being ~3 other tables. But yet somehow food took a loooong while, and I don't think we ordered really complicated stuff (crepe special and waffle special). The hubby thought his crepe bland; I thought my waffle was decent. Sausages were fine, though ordinary. I didn't like the potatoes but perhaps it's due to my personal taste that I don't like green pepper. What I thought were sad were the scrambled eggs. They were dried and not fluffy and juicy. I mean, it's not the worst scrambled eggs I've had, but just nothing worth 5 stars. Service wait staff was kind enough, and the place looked cute in a shady-looking lot. Hence the 3 stars, but the food is probably average at best. Cash only!

Everything was amazing. I ordered the crepes with nutella and strawberries plus bacon and eggs and my boyfriend ordered a panini. Of course we couldn't leave without some dessert (on top of the crepes, haha) so we ordered shaved ice and churros. Probably the best churros I've ever tasted, a must have when coming to the Cafe. Service is great, though a little slow, but that's because they cook everything fresh and they have a small team of hard workers. Be patient, its worth it!

Good food but the wait and service is awful. You'll wait to be seated and if you aren't right in front of the place you'll lose your spot. It's not worth the headache. Lost our spot twice because we didn't hear them call out name even though we were right Infront. Food isn't worth the headache.

Fun environment. Great food, home made and healthy alternatives. The service was nice. The set up is clean and visually appealing. Definitely would reccomend :)

First time there and I had a great experience. Server was friendly and pretty attentive, he might have been the owner. The food was so amazing! We tried the loaded waffle with peaches and whipped cream. H E A V E N. Food was perfectly cooked and the waffles were perfectly fluffy. Place was very clean, and a super cute setting. It gets pretty packed sunday mornings since it is a small cafe but 100% worth the wait! I will most definitely be back.

I've been waiting for a good breakfast/brunch place just like this for the neighborhood! The place itself is very small and if you come during a busy time, be prepared to wait awhile, outside. I had the Chicken Pesto Panini with a side of fries and it was just incredible! Hands down a signature favorite. I'll be coming back just for that! I also tried their La Fraise Crêpe and it was just what I imagined; delicious beyond words! It seems like you can't go wrong with any of the choices here so eat away. I had their churros as well and they were good but I didn't go crazy for them. I'm not a fan of stuffed churros. The service was excellent but I am going to have to point out that when it gets extremely busy, service is terrible. They either need more people or more awareness. That was the only bad thing about the place. Other than that, it's a must. Over and over again.

Absolutely delicious and worth the wait! I wanted the Texan Skillet but they didn't have the ribeye. Wahhh!! No problem! Server to the rescue! He suggested the Laredo Skillet which had chorizo, a touch of spice, and cheese melted over potatoes cooked to perfection. My eggs were over easy and they blanketed my mountainous skillet. Best brunch place by far!!

The food tastes so fresh! I loved it! I'm usually not a fan of eggs but the eggs were so fresh. The server was also very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.

I don't usually write reviews but this time I couldn't help it. We went to this place for the very first time and we got there at 3:30 pm not realizing they close at 4pm. We were greeted at the door by an employee and he said they were closing at for and we couldn't eat inside the restaurant and they only allow take-out. We were very disappointed with his response and thought, wow if you want to stay in business you be more customer oriented. They should consider changing their hours. Also we noticed people eating inside but the young man we talked to was already putting all the chairs up on the tables. I don't know about you but that would make me feel uncomfortable when I'm trying to eat. Needless to say we left without trying the food. The food may be fantastic but we never got to try it. Unfortunately for this restaurant there is plenty of competition that there is no reason for us to go back and good thing La Poblana is down the street.

Honestly the food is so delicious. I had the chicken pesto panini & it was the best panini I've had. Their churros were great also. They taste so fresh & homemade. You can definitely taste the freshness in everything you ear here. I've tasted the steak panini also & it was delicious. Really recommend this place to everyone! I found my new go to spot!

Glad to have found this little cafe. My kids and I came in for brunch and it was delightful. The food was great and the people were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. We loved their strawberry banana crepe and pesto chicken panini.

Although the food there is delicious the wait is extremely long! I've been there maybe 4/5 times and every single one of those times I waited over 30 minutes for my food. Don't get me wrong the crepes are delicious and their breakfast options are also superb! I suggest if your in a hurry... Don't go there but if u have time and a friend to talk to by all means the Abuelita chocolate is to die for and will make the wait more bearable! This place could have 5 stars if they were a bit quicker!

I really liked this place! I ordered the Waffle Special. Pros: Cute little place Very friendly service The food is delicious! I really liked the potatoes Everything made fresh Free refills on the iced coffee which is $1.99. Yes! Very reasonable prices Con: The food and service were pretty slow, BUT it's a small place and it's even posted on their board that it may take a while because everything is cooked fresh. If you are patient, not starving, and with good company, it's easy to overlook the wait because the staff is very pleasant and the food and prices are great!

I am so happy to find this place in La Puente. The place is small and it looks like it fits about 40 people. My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast. I ordered the $7.50 waffle special: a belgian waffle (with fruits and chocolate sauce), 3 sausages, 3 eggs and home fries. I loved it. It was very tasty. The presentation was great and the food was very comforting. My boyfriend ordered the $5.25 poblano crepe and the $4.50 banana crepe. Both were excellent. They really care about the food here. I really like this place and will definitely come back. The workers are very nice and the cook came out and talked to us for a while. I hope this place is here to stay. It is such a treasure in La Puente. PS: This place is cash only but there are atm's nearby.

My parents live in the SGV area so finding a new breakfast spot is always hard. I found this on yelp and after some great reviews we tried it out. The waiter/host- Spaniard guy, was wonderful. He's super friendly and attentive. I had their Waffle special (eggs, bacon, potatoes) and everything was delicious. If you like your bacon well done/crispy, they will deliver on this! The waffle was very good- i love them to be a bit more well done on the outside and soft on the inside and this was just that. The potatoes were good as well- with a bit of spice to them but nothing major. My guest had the Pesto chicken panini and it was great. I'm a big fan of pesto, and this sauce was just right. Not too heavy or over powering. My mom took my dad there (typical Mexican guy who doesn't eat out much) and he didn't complain and actually tried a crepe, which had his approval. Overall, good, affordable and tasty!

good quaint little place. To me it has this European vibe. Their food is really good and I would go here everyday if it wasn't so far.

For the food, easily 5+ stars. I had the breakfast crepe and my wife had the strawberry crepe. Finished off with some churros. Everything super fresh and you felt like it came out of your mom's kitchen. Delicious! I dropped one star because there will be a wait time. Small place and everyone knows it's great. Plan ahead 15-30 minutes.

Slow down, take a look around. This place is great if you want a simple yet delicious breakfast freshly made. Nothing better than a cafe with a strong aroma of coffee when you first walk in. Service was superb, my waiter was happy to help me choose which breakfast I should get. Me and my date split a delicious crepe with Nutella bananas and strawberries and I stuck with bacon eggs and flavorful homestyle potatoes. I'm only sad that it took so long to realize such a great establishment was right across the street from my house! Definitely will be returning due to everlasting cravings since I left.

Just had breakfast this morning with my family on Mother's day. Food was not good my pancakes where doughy my eggs where over hard I asked for over easy. The coffee was not good this was my first time here. I will never comeback again. My wife loved the crepes the service sucked.

High yelp review rate was the reason I went to the place ,but the food was not that special like other people said (I'm not picky) one thing I hated the most was the waiting , there were only 3 tables when we got there(one table was eating already), we waited more than 20 mins for the food!!! Asked for the check, had to wait another 5 mins, and the first table had to went up to the counter table for the check for few mins ... Over all, it's not that great like people said:(

The food taste really good! The staff is very friendly! The setting is nice small place little family owned restaurant! Biggest downfall is, although the staff is friendly, the service is very very slow!!! Be ready to sit for an hour to have your breakfast! I went with my family a group of 4 we had to to ask the waiter 3 different times for water. & when they finally brought them, they only brought ONE! Everyone was very nice & the food was good id like to give them another chance, but with the service being so slow I'm not sure if I'll be back. I wish they would get another better trained waiter that actually knows how to serve tables to help!

This is the second time coming here for breakfast. So far my husband and i have liked what we have ordered. I had the La Paris Crepes very delicious and my husband had the Cuban Panini which he thought was great. He's ordering it again today. And the customer service is great as well.

The food is delicious, I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a good cafe place to eat here. Although they have great quality food, the prices for their meals are a little pricey for a small joint. Great food, but not the place to go very often because of how pricey they are.

This place is so delicious!! Me and my boyfriend ordered the strawberry cream cheese crepe, French toast, pesto panini with fries and chipotle panini. Everything was so good I forgot to breathe at one point, let alone take a pic of the food lol. Best breakfast I've had in a while. Our server was so sweet too. Very helpful and suggested great choices off the menu. The wait was definitely worth it. I highly recommend this place.

Best place to go for shaved ice and crepes! Drove down from palmdale cuz I've been craving their shaved ice! Nothing like it out where I live! Strawberry n chocolate crepes are so good too! And you get a free sweet mini crepe when you write a Yelp review!

There is nowhere to wait they have no signs about signing in and waiting to be seated they moved a family who got here before anyone else from a table and started seating people who arrived after them. Overall pretty rude.

Found this place on yelp and was not disappointed! My family loved the waffle special, crepe cordon bleu and churros for our Sunday breakfast. My 1 and 4 year olds ate voraciously and kept wanting more. My husband picked up the food and said everyone was so courteous, helpful, and nice. The atmosphere seemed great for families as well. We need more places like this in La Puente! Glad we found Caramelo's and we will definitely be back soon.

We ordered the hot chocolate & shared the french toast / savory crepe plate. The food was really good. The only draw back is having to pay on their iPad if you aren't paying cash. They do hover while you are are paying. Next time, I'll bring cash.

I've only eaten here a few times, but it's never disappointed. I've personally had the pancakes and eggs, the club panini, and the Paris crepe. Fully recommend stopping by and trying this place out if you're in the area! You will not be disappointed!

This small place is a big find. Have been here many times and always leave happy. Everything is made fresh to order. Yes, you will wait (usually packed!) a little while, but it is well worth it. The Laredo/Chorizo skillet is my favorite - my husband usually jumps at the breakfast plate. When we have craved a change, have had many different items and they have all been delicious. Good coffee every day and very respectable cafe de la olla on weekends. We finish off with a sweet Paris crepe. Perfect start to any day!

This place is literally the best. It's a hidden place but boy is it packed. I would suggest going early. I actually don't mind that we waited because it's fresh and I'd rather have something authentic then tacky mcdonalds. All the employees were really friendly. I came with my family and they accommodated us really nicely, they pushed two tables together for us. Like I said the food and seating took awhile but there's a couple of things that make up for it. 1) it's fresh 2) the food is delicious heaven 3) amiable service (my sister had some issues with her order and they fixed it) 4) quiet and comfortable little place 5) home-ish vibes 6) constant service. The workers would constantly asking us if we needed anything and if we were fine 7) pretty much everyone there is bilingual ! So helpful because my family is a Spanish speaking family . 8) and lastly one of the workers with blue eyes and an accent is really hot. Like yawza! WILL BE COMING AGAIN

Inexpensive, great vibe, intimate setting, super clean bathrooms! Food is delicious! I think they really need to hire one more person just to help out a bit. Ive had the french toast special and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! This is a nice little gem in la puente!
