Had some Very Important Colleagues up from UCLA for a meeting today. We needed to keep our meeting going through lunch and so we Emailed in a big order. When I went to pick it up, they had me paid-up and checked out in 30 seconds. When I arrived back at the meeting room, we realized that the SCD team sorted the order into GAUCHOS and BRUINS so that it was easier for everyone to find their individual order. I have always been a fan of your work, SCD. But this is a new level. Thank you from Bruins and Gauchos. Fiat Lux,

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I do not see how this place could be rated at 4 or 5 stars. Sandwich was mediocre. Nothing convinced me that I'll need to go back. Ever. It's more expensive food for less flavor. Ended up putting hot sauce on my sandwich because it was that boring. Future visits? No thank you.

This place has hands down the BEST sandwiches in IV. They have an amazing variety of sandwiches and salads and every single one of them is delicious. They also serve the best breakfast sandwiches. I personally love the Dar's breakfast Sammie and get pesto added. They cook the egg perfectly so it's still soft and fluffy and the bagels or bread is always fresh. They also have a great selection of beers on tap and even have a kombucha on tap.

My favorite deli in the entire area. All Their sandwiches and salads are yummy and fairly big portions for the price. Also a plus that their staff at all locations are friendly and have great customer service skills. Love SCD!!!

I'm so rattled right now....I don't even know what that means but I'm fuckin rattled. I really hate vegetables but I forgot to tell them not to put vegetables on and they still put them on!!! What the F?!!?I really hate lettuce but there's lettuce on my sandwich and I'm still eating it for some reason but I'm so rattled right now. -Jimmy

One of my favorite places to eat in IV. The salads and sandwiches are the same price and I go with salad because they are huge with lots more protein and greens. They're fresh and full of flavor too! The Asian Greens salad is very tasty and crunchy. I always feel very satisfied eating here and it's actually a little challenging to finish my food. They also sell fresh baked goods like cookies and walnut brownies. The sandwiches come with two dum dum lollipops.

Eating here always makes me feel healthy! The price is higher than most sandwich places (especially with Subway 15 feet away), but the ambiance is awesome. Eating outdoors in an enclosed bamboo garden with TV's beats any other setting in IV. I always get one of their giant salads ($9-$11 usually) and it's enough for two meals. Last time I was there the kitchen made a mistake and gave me a chicken panini instead of a chicken salad (not sure how that happened), but our waiter (Sam) took care of everything for us and was incredibly friendly. He got me the correct food within a couple minutes and all was forgiven.

If you're hungry and need a food break from studying for finals, this is the perfect place to go to...if you want to be sassed by one of their waitresses :/ Southcoast absolutely kills it with their food. Would've given the full 5 stars but the waitress was salty AF

South Coast Deli was the first restaurant I tried while in Isla Vista for the first time. The sandwich I ordered was pretty good, all of the ingredients in the sandwich tasted fresh. But my favorite part of the meal was the dum dum lollipop they gave me with my sandwich for dessert. I'll definitely be back.

I was visiting my cousin at UCSB and she said I HAD to try this place. Very very good sandwich! I got the turkey with avocado panini I think? Really tasty and filling for a descent price.

Three words: Chicken. Pesto. Panini. It is huge and it is delicious. For $8.95 not counting tax or a drink it better be! Honestly, with chips or a side salad this panini would probably be large enough to split with a friend. If you come during the lunch rush get ready to wait, but if you call ahead they will have your sandwich ready to pick up when you get there. From what I could tell from sandwiches my coworkers ordered everything here is large and made with quality ingredients. They do cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, paninis, salads and they even have a breakfast menu so there is something for everyone. Note: They have a small parking lot around back and indoor seating but no outdoor seating.

Delicious. I have yet to have a bad item off the menu, and I've eaten here a lot. Even the salads are delicious! (and why would I go to a sandwich shop for a salad)
(5)
Sophie P.
Salads are delicious and huge portions! Just tried the Cobb Salad - yum! The sandwiches I've tried so far are really great as well. There's ample outdoor seating, which is always clean and great for larger groups. They do have outdoor heaters as well for the colder days/nights. There is parking behind the building as well, you have to go thru the alley way on the side of the building.

Yummy sandwiches. Clean, spacious patio. The Pepper Plant hot sauce. Favorite sandwich: Viet Nom Nom. Stop being crazy and put it on the regular menu. PLEASE!

Delicious!! I tried The Marin (Sliced chicken breast w/ melted Swiss cheese, basil, mayo, tomato, pepperoncini, avocado & sprouts) and it was amazing! The perfect portion sizes, too! Great service, too! They were handing out free beer the day I was there. And my friends had a coupon that they forgot about until after they paid, but they still honored it. would LOVE to come back here!

Was craving either a sandwich or salad in the area and South Coast deli had the highest average ratings on yelp. Checked out their menu online and saw that they had Cobb salad and Cobb salad sandwich!! I went with the latter because yelpers raved about the 'sammies' here. Guess what? Their Cobb salad sammie totally satisfied my craving and hunger! Yay!! Their sandwiches or 'sammies' range from $8-$10 and are HUGE (enough for two)!! My sammie had thick slices of tender turkey meat and was packed full with salad! The bread tasted like freshly baked artisan bread! Great taste and value! There is a small parking lot located to the left of the shop.

Such an awesome menu and selection at this place. The Cobb salad is to die for and the Veggie sandwich is also a favorite of mine. The location is so close to campus and makes it an easy stop for a quick lunch break between classes. The employees here are always so friendly and helpful.

Taylor A.
It's a little pricey, but definitely worth the extra cash. All the sandwiches I've tried are great and filling, but I'd have to say the fowl play salad is my absolutely favorite! It's best when you're starving. The mix of spicy and sweet with barbeque chicken is amazing.

Acceptable place to grab a sandwich or salad. That is, they are a step barely above mediocre IF they are on point. I highly question the source of their reputation to being the "best sammie place in town." That aside, the food tastes good. Salads are hefty in portions. Sammies not so much. For the price they charge, we definitely deserve a little extra something. And while the dum dum lollipops they give may have sentimental value, they should stay as a childhood memory and I would much prefer chips or a drink. Even with the chips or drink, you may find yourself staring at your sandwich thinking, "In what world does this meal cost this much?" The part that keeps me from having this place be a default lunch hour stop for when i dont want to think of where to eat.. is that their quality control is nonexistent. More than once, they left out key fixings in my salads like the chicken... in the buffalo chicken salad... (which fortunately the cashier caught while handing it to me and they slapped it in haphazardly). It's a bad thing if I'm walking past this place thinking "I want their salad but I hope they dont forget to put in my wonton crisps or meat again..." Its not that their food is bad..but its also not something I look forward to even marginally.. and it's pricey with inconsistent service. Its about as meh as it can get.

This place is amazing! The T n' A panini is the best sandwich that I have EVER had! Can't wait to try some other sandwiches here.
(5)

Truly divine sandwiches! Never soggy, never dry. Great flavor combinations. Great service: friendly, prompt, accommodates special requests. Pleasant and clean outdoor seating. Price-wise it's more expensive.
(5)
Ashley B.
Friendly, fast service, take out food can be ordered online.. basically very convenient in many ways! Also, their chicken caesar salad sandwich is worth killing for :p
(5)
Juliana K.
Probably should have ordered a sandwich, but it was a rainy day and I couldn't resist the soup of the day. For a butternut squash soup, there wasn't much squash. There were more kale and beans in a watery bitter broth. Not impressed. Tons of college students here, unsurprisingly, though a bunch were just here for the beer.

Love this place. One of the best sandwich places in Santa Barbara. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Sammy and the Chicken Chipotle Club.
(5)
T G.
The sandwiches are really one of the best in Isla Vista! I recommend everyone to at least try this place. Albeit pricy. It's very good and they put a lot of meat in your sandwiches! It is always a nice surprise when they give you a lollipop. FIVE STARS!
(5)
Alex R.
They have great Cesar salads here for a decent price. The place is always clean and costumer service is on point. Breakfast sandwiches are good too - took away two stars for the chicken on the salad - the last few times it was wet, cold, and floppy.
(3)
Qui C.
The basil mayo here is bomb. It totally makes every sandwich tastes 10x better. The toasted sammie: The Robert Emmet was delicious! I had that with the Dutch crunch bread and a side of jalapenos. They're pretty generous here with their jalapenos. For breakfast the Dar's Breakfast Sammie on the everything bagel totally hit the spot too. Reasonable prices and they make the good food to order.
(4)
Jennifer C.
One of my favorite places to go in Isla Vista. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's totally worth it. Ample portions, great sauces, and awesome sammies and salads. Just pick anything from the menu and you won't be disappointed! My favorite: Cobb Salad
(5)
Isaac B.
Pricey? Maybe. Consistently delicious, unique, and beyond the IV food spectrum? Absolutely, thank you so much for being delicious. I would happily pay the price for a sandwich at South Coast anywhere outside of IV. Haven't had a complaint yet, and have ordered multiple things multiple times.
(5)
Carl P.
I love this place. Although the sandwiches are a bit expensive, they are always worth it. The chicken pesto for lunch or the eggs and trip tip for breakfast are my go-to. The workers are all very kind and never rude. The atmosphere is very relaxing and is never too loud. Definitely check this place out.
(5)
Robin B.
I used to be slightly obsessed. Try the Cobb Salad! My favorite sandwich is The Marin, but I could always go for the pesto chicken or chicken caesar sandwich. I'm pretty sure everything is delicious. One word of advice: order online! It'll save you time, especially if you eat here during the lunch hour.
(4)
Katie H.
Get the Chicken Pesto Panini! Why it is so good? The sheer size of the sandwich alone is enough reason to come here. They pile on the chicken breast meat to at least 3 layers. The cheese is not some dinky thin slice but instead you get a thick slice of fresh mozzarella! You can't beat that. That might have been my favorite part of the sandwich. The pesto was not overwhelming either and I love my tomatoes. I can see why they've been voted the best sandwiches in Santa Barbara! You will not be disappointed. If you're by the UCSB campus, this place is a must stop.

Nicole A.
I absolutely LOVE South Coast Deli! I usually order a salad, but lately I've been ordering their panini's and I have to say they are quite delicious. Haven't had a bad meal here. The reason I give four stars is because I usually always order my salad with the dressing on the side, and every single time I order here that request seems to be completely ignored. It wouldn't be such a big deal to me, but the salads are quite pricey and I'd like to enjoy them not drowning in dressing.
(4)
Jenn C.
Darlene is theeeeeee best! South coast deli (ALL locations, but the one on patterson is the best because its right by where I live) is AMAAAAAAAAAZING. I've tried the caprese, the turkey melt (i think thats what its called) and the meatball, but my favorite is STILL the buffalo chicken sammie. I don't know why I like it so much... probably because its delicious, and tangy, and sour, and spicy all at the same time!? my brother, who isn't a sandwich fan like I am, likes this place and whenever he's in town, we're going to 2 places: South Coast Deli and McConnell's Ice Cream. He gets the chicken salad sandwich on white bread with avocado and so far, he hasn't gotten anything else besides the extremely large bite of buffalo chicken sammie from my meal *sigh*

Katie B.
We stopped through Isla Vista on our vacation and found this place through yelp. My boyfriend got the Cajun Turkey sandwich and I got the Chicken Caesar salad. Hands down the best salad I've had and he said the same thing about the sandwich. Portions were perfect and fresh! The patio area was nice and shady inside was pretty spacious with a decent amount of seating. Clean bathrooms and an overall cool vibe. I wish we loved closer to this awesome shop!

Used to come here all the time and then after being out of town for 7 months I came back (Oct '14) only to be given a sandwich with half the amount of stuff in it as they used to put. So disappointed. Thought it was a fluke until today the same thing happened - really a pathetic excuse for a sandwich, barely any meat. There are lots of places to eat in IV, if you want to go somewhere where you pay 10$ for a sandwich that barely has anything on it then I highly recommend this place.
(1)
Jackie V.
I dream about their Eggplant Sammie, if I could I would eat it everyday. It's a quite simple sandwich with great tastes, but as a vegetarian I'm so glad to have a sandwich that is unique (not just the usual mayonnaise, alfalfa sprouts and lettuce). Their breaded eggplant with banana peppers are so delicious and on a roll makes a great tasting combination.High quality ingredients and fast service. Definitely, going to miss this when I graduate and leave.
(5)
Brandon N.
I tried to have every sandwich at least once, and every single one of them were delicious. It's a little pricey but sandwiches are definitely big enough to split and be full so it's a pretty great value. I'm glad they broke the curse of that property!
(4)
Raquel D.
Only been here a few times because they're expensive, but my sandwiches were excellent! They have some great unique and delicious choices, hot and cold sandwiches, and I was very please!
(4)
Hailey J.
Great sandwiches in a cute college town. Love that they use shredded lettuce. They have a variety of great spreads. They beer kettle chips were great. A must try if in the area!
(4)
Mira Z.
The ratios were so off point. It was pretty damn expensive and pretty damn disappointing. For having such good ratings it was a let down. The staff was nice and the place itself was clean but the sandwich upset my stomach. Also, they use a sauce instead of mayonnaise that was not very good. They did put a lot of bacon on my sandwich though.
(3)
Nick I.
This place is great! Being a true sandwich lover, I consider myself to be a connoisseur to the art of sandwich making. And let me tell you, this place doesn't disappoint. Everything from their breakfast sammies, to their humongous 3 way sammies (a triple - decker sandwich!) are amazing. The only reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 starts is due to their relatively high pricing. But hey, you get what you pay for.
(4)
Jacqueline G.
I love the food here, but sometimes the service is down right awful. One cashier/server (tattoo covered guy) cannot distinguish the name "Jackie" from "Jenny." He acts pissed to be serving everyone who approaches the register. This place really is a hit or miss when it comes to service. Sometimes, I come if I really have to have a good sandwich, but other times I just avoid it because I don't want to have to deal with being treated badly.
(3)
Evan L.
Best place to eat in IV. Best Sandwiches in Santa Barbara. Fresh ingredients, great menu. This place is awesome. Never had anything bad here, never left unsatisfied. My go to is either the cobb salad sammie or the chicken chipotle club (sometimes I sub pesto for chipotle mayo).
(5)
Grace K.
The sandwiches are awesome. I LOVE the Chicken pesto panini and the eggplant sammie. I love their breads. Mmmmhm carbs. Lets get some quality control on the cashiers because the service ranges from great to atrocious. I guess it just depends on who you get but WTF can you say "Hi" or "THANK YOU" instead of just giving me rude looks or silence? So ridiculous, it should be standard. Sometimes they have messed up on my orders and they just don't even seem to care at all. I much prefer the location on Patterson where the workers are friendlier and the vibe is better.

Pastrami and Italian meat sammies. We loved both, we did the grilled versions. Can not wait to try more.

Not much can be said for this place that hasn't already been said, if you tolerate mayonnaise and have a pulse your going to find something you like
(4)
Paul R.
I don't often give 5 stars, but this casual restaurant served up the best darn sandwiches I have ever tasted. OMG! I ate the South Coast Turkey and almost melted right there in my chair. Don't know how they do it, but they should be arrested for what they produce. There's no way these flavors can be legal. I'm thinking about going back to college just to hang out at this sandwich shop or at least pick up some fine looking take out. Wow!
(5)
Kelly G.
I have never gotten a disappointing sandwich from southcoast. I've had the pulled pork one with coke slaw, the buffalo chicken one and a turkey avocado sandwich. Yum!
(5)
Taylor H.
Hands down the best sandwich shop god ever created. Their south coast turkey is to die for. Their Caesar salad Sammie is perfect after a nice day at the beach! Their meatball sandwich is everything you would ever want it be. Basically everything here is perfection! You can't go wrong!
(5)
Petros K.
The food is a little more on the expensive side, but let me just say that it's totally worth it. The portions are huge and the food is absolutely delicious. I have yet to be disappointed, and that is rare with anywhere I eat. If you want to reward yourself for some sort of odd reason, come eat here.

Vaibhav A.
Awesome Sandwiches ! After going there I wondered why was I coming here for the first time in one and a half years of my time here in UCSB. Had Chicken pesto panni once and Dar sky high the next time. Both of them were delicious and the service was pretty quick. Of the food choices IV has to offer, I think this is one of the better options available. I wonder why it isn't much crowded given its location and competition around.
(5)
Russell T.
I love south coast deli! It's delicious and fresh and I love to try new things on the menu. Now that it is in IV it's so convenient. I used to drive all the way to goleta for it!
(5)
Jamie T.
I had the chicken pesto panini here and it was pretty darn good. The chicken was just the right amount of juicy and their pesto was very good. I don't normally go for the panini but since I saw so many nice yelp reviews for it, I decided to give it a go :)

A MUST-VISIT when in SB! My BF and I planned a weekend trip up to Santa Barbara from Long Beach and, after reading all the other glowing Yelp! reviews, we added the Carrillo location to our travel plans. As avid foodies with a craft sandwich addiction, we were crushed to discover that they were closed on our arrival (this past Sunday). As luck would have it, one of the incredibly kind and informative owners happened to be there and sent us to the Isla Vista location (open on Sundays!) along with a menu. Am I ever thrilled we made the drive over to the Isla Vista SCD! The staff was helpful, quick, and informative, and the sandwiches--oh, the sandwiches!--were simply to die for! I had the Cobb Salad Sammie (so, so, SO good) and the BF tried the Dar's Sky High. We were both in heaven. The meat was moist and flavorful, the bread fresh, the lettuce crisp--and the cheese simply blew my mind. We don't drink, but there's a great selection of beers on tap too. Moral is, South Coast Deli rocks. The sandwiches here are the best sammies you're going to find (and we've looked). The atmosphere is fun and light-hearted, and the staff and owner are super kind. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and get over there for a sandwich ASAP!
(5)
Zack B.
There's a reason the line to this place is constantly out the door. The quality of the food and ambiance is completely unmatched in Isla Vista. They've got a gorgeous patio on the side of the restaurant that is sheltered from the sounds of the 'city' by tall, leafy foliage that surrounds the place. The T n' A Panini and Chicken Pesto Panini are amazing -- as is everything else on the menu I'm sure. Keep doing what you're doing SCD!
(5)
Carly H.
The sandwiches here are really good, and I really like the outdoor seating area that they have, especially at night when they turn on the heat lamps and the twinkle lights! Definitely a cute area for a date. I can't remember which sandwiches I've gotten, but I know one was a special they had with Turkey and Cranberry which was really good. Silvergreens still appeals to me more though just because I really like their salads, but this is definitely the best sandwich place in IV. Sam's gives more substance and meat on the sandwiches, but South Coast Deli just seems like better quality.
(4)
Jessica C.
Awesome sandwiches! Great mixing of flavors. I really love this place. Hours are limited though.
(4)
Brian R.
Easily the best sandwich place in IV, if not the highest quality eatery in the whole town. The Chipotle Chicken Club is the most delicious thing on IV. The portions are also very large so don't let high prices put you off. Treat yourself! Way better than stupid Jimmy Johns
(5)
Nicole U.
Good sandwiches. I had a Ring of Fire and chips. The jalapeno relish definitely made the sandwich... and the bread was very nice (no hard edges, high quality while being toasted at the same time). I LOVE the inside, it's dark-ish inside which I prefer. Like, I would actually prefer to eat in there instead of getting it to go.
(4)
Paige S.
yes yes yes yes absolutely yes. I was reluctant about South Coast and managed to put off going here for the whole first quarter that they were open. Then I went and had the Roast Beef Hottie and my mind was blown. shit is wonderful. the next time i went I had the cajun turkey, also amazing. would really like to try their beer. i wish I could afford to come to this place every day, but it's definitely worth every penny. (and think about it, a sub here is like $2 more than a subway footlong, and oh sosososos much better.) I'm quite a fan. also both times I went all of the employees were so nice, and they make your fancy sandwiches surprisingly fast. that garlic-tabasco mayo! goddamn. i say goddamn. hopefully south coast manages to survive the "curse" that this particular spot on Pardall seems to carry with it.
(5)
Paulina T.
Great sandwiches! I've heard only good things about this place before the location in IV opened and I was not disappointed. The R.B.C. is full of flavor, Megan's grilled cheese is perfect for cheese and bacon lovers, and Mmmmm Balls with PESTO is heavenly. I have been meaning to try their salads, which have a reputation to be just as tasty, but their sandwiches are just too good.

M W.
This place is very good. I just posted a photo of the very generously sized Cobb salad. Nice location with some outdoor seating. The salad is excellent.

Yum! I had a Chicken & Pesto Panini that was pretty good here!

This place is awesome!! I've gone twice and both times, I've had amazing sandwiches. The first time I went, I had the Dar's Sky High which is a pastrami sandwich.. It's AMAZEBALLS... (if you're like me and love pastrami)... My boyfriend had the Italian 3 way.... in my opinion, the 3 way sandwiches are way too big.... I mean, if you're a carnivore and can finish it in one sitting, props to you. The italian 3 way I thought was okay, but not as good as the chipotle chicken 3 way which my boyfriend got the 2nd time we went.... The 2nd time we went, I had the Uncle Steve... Which again, doesn't disappoint... And also, the young asian lady that helped us out and took our order in the front was really nice.
(4)
Avery E.
The salads here are amazing! I always ask them for it without the meat, and sometimes they offer to put avocado on instead and it's delicious. I love the romain and gorgonzola salad dressing. I do wish they had more vegetarian sandwiches, though.

love love love their french dip so good!!!!

As a lover of all things sandwich-y this was one of the first places I tried in IV. Sandwiches are great, the place is clean (something delis often struggle with) and you get a fair amount of food for the price. Service is quick and relatively friendly. I used to eat at a fantastic Italian deli in Davis that had turkey sandwiches with pesto mayo and while the similar option here isn't quite as good, it definitely sates the craving. I also like this location's outdoor patio, when you live in a place with great weather why wouldn't you opt to eat outside? I love South Coast! I'm also a HUGE fan of Three Pickles which puts a little more filling on your sandwich (more bang for your buck), but South Coast is a very close second in my book.

Diana L.
I've tried a good portion of their sandwiches here, and my two absolute FAVORITES are Max's Breakfast Sammie (I hate how it's only served til 11am, I always crave it during dinner time grr!!!) and the Pesto Panini with turkey in place of chicken (it's called Chicken & Pesto, but I get Turkey and Pesto). I can eat the same sandwich 3-4 times a week--I've tried it twice, once with the Max's Breakfast Sammie and once with the Turkey & Pesto Panini, and it worked haha. This place has the best salads in IV! I rotate between the Romaine & Gorgonzola salad and the Cobb Salad (again replacing the chicken with turkey--I don't eat chicken, but I'm sure the chicken matches better). I haven't tried any of the other ones and probably don't plan to since I like these two a lot. Their portions are huge, so it can last me for two meals, but sometimes I decide to be a fatty and eat it all in one sitting and then I get food coma. Only con is it's really pricey for sandwiches and salads. I pay between $9-10 for a sandwich or salad here. It's safe to say they have the best sandwiches in IV, and are tied with Silvergreen's in terms of salads (their salad portions are 3x as large as Silvergreen's, but there's less substance in it), so I would pay for the taste. Silvergreen's is also around the same price, but I had too much of Silvergreen's my first two years in SB so I'm glad this place showed up. Thus, 5 stars for IV status :).

I almost never crave sandwiches, but I sure crave South Coast Deli! My favorite is the chicken pesto panini. Yum! They are a bit expensive for sandwiches though ($8-11), or I'd go more often.

Great sandwiches! Chipotle mayo is the best.

I've been to the other locations around Santa Barbara and I think they're better than the IV one. Whenever I go, I've only ordered the Tri-Tip and Salsa sandwich. The new IV location is nice. A bit tight inside but the outside patio is spacious. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich and it was good, but I'd rather drive to the Downtown locations. The bread was thick and fresh, reminded me of the Vietnamese sandwich bread (banh mi). The tri-tip was a bit tough and dry and they were measly pieces and a meager amount of salsa. It was more bread than anything else. I feel like at the other locations, they give you more tri-tip and salsa and so I was disappointed when my sandwich arrived. If I wanted to only eat bread, I would've bought a loaf of bread. I don't know if we're college students and they feel they can give us less but I mean for a sandwich to cost a little over $8, I want more meat!

Just the thought of the South Coast Turkey makes me drool! Every sandwich I have had here is just amazing.....

South Coast Deli is the new "spot" in IV. If you're anything like me, you've probably heard the word "Sammie" thrown around a few times but didn't ever get to experience a legit Sammie. I took the leap and broke my Sammie virginity with The Marin, and I was absolutely blown away. I didn't even talk to my friend because I was so enamored by the food. The vibe is just right at this place - you walk in and are immediately greeted by a friendly staff. The colors are relaxing and the furniture is comfortable. Although the indoor seating is pretty nice, I'd say try to get a spot outside in the patio. There's some sunshades and some flat screen TV's and some chill music playing while you enjoy your food. I even encountered the management staff during my meal and was friendlily approached to ensure I was having an exemplary experience. I've tried nearly all the food spots in IV and I can comfortably say this is my favorite. There's something seriously different about this place - its fun, classy, and the food is on a whole different level. I'm definitely sold as a regular at this place.

I've been here many times and they make delicious sandwiches! I've tried a bunch of different sandwiches and my favorite one so far is the Sweet and Savory Pork. It has an interesting combination of ingredients that some people might not like: pork loin, arugula red onion, mayo, and a red pepper horseradish jelly. I thought the jelly was really good. I was pleasantly surprised that the jelly was sweet, but had just the right amount of horseradish in there. A strange combination, but it was delicious. The bread was crispy and held all the ingredients together nicely. Another thing that I love there is the basil mayonnaise that they put on some sandwiches. They put just the right amount of basil, not too overpowering, but you can definitely taste it in your sandwich. The only sandwich that I have had that was a little disappointing was Dar's Sky High. It contains thinly sliced pastrami that just did not feel like it was anything special. The spices were there, but overall, it didn't stand up to all the other sandwiches I've had. They make good food, and though I think the food is a little pricey, the sandwiches alone fill you up, and it's always good quality.

Let me start off by saying that I am not an avid sandwich lover, but at first bite I was in loveee. Freshly graduated from UCSB, I still have guilty lunchtime fantasies about Mark's Panini, a freshly toasted turkey sandwich layered with melted pepper-jack cheese and a mild but savory green chile, dressed in a tangy garlic-tabasco vinegarette. I. Could. Die. If I managed to wake up before 2 on the weekends, Max's Breakfast Scramble is a must have. Scrambled eggs, melty cheese, complimented by the tastiest bacon... an absolute sandwich fantasy that will have you asking... Subway who?

Quick and great service! The employees are always fun and friendly and don't mind going out of their way to ensure your sandwich is right every time. The variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads make this place a great spot for lunch and breakfast. Located in the heart of Isla Vista, SCD is the perfect eatery to nurse your hangover or if you're grabbing a quick bite before class.

I kind of want to like this place more, but so far my experience has been only so-so. It's definitely a solid choice among Isla Vista eateries, but of course that's not saying much. I've been here a few times and will probably be back when I want a quick meal in IV. On the plus side, the place is clean and actually kind of nice to hang out in, which is unusual for IV. The outdoor patio is a great spot and a major feather in their cap. I liked the meatball sandwich and the sweet and savory pork. They use good bread on the sandwiches. On the minus side, the music is sometimes annoyingly loud. The "sammies", although tasty, don't have the real oomph you would expect from a place whose motto is "Protecting Santa Barbara from mediocre sandwiches". The meatball sandwich is a case in point: it's good, but other than the bread it's not anything that stands out from other meatball sandwiches out there. (Incidentally, giving sandwiches "cute" names like "Mmmm. . . balls" instead of just "meatball sandwich" does not earn them any points from me.) The thing that really brings this down from 4 stars to 3 is the price. It's over $8 for a toasted sandwich. The sandwiches aren't super huge and don't come with anything else, so I consider $8 fairly steep. There are other places around (in IV and elsewhere in the SB area) to get a quick meal of comparable quality for less. Basically I will go to this place if a) I'm not in the mood for stuff from other cheap places nearby; and b) I don't want to make a trek to another part of town; and c) I feel like relaxing on their patio. For that, I can see it being a pretty reliable spot.

The sandwich I had was good, but I expected more. For $8 I got a sandwich on normal-size sandwich bread with no side and no drink. I think that these guys will have to change their prices to be competitive in IV.

Great sandwiches to fill you up & have more for later :)

Best sandwiches in Isla Vista. Great bread, tasty toppings, well constructed. I love the meatball sandwich with pesto. Great beer on tap as well. Would appreciate real glasses for beer but beggers can't be choosers.

best sandwiches especially the tri tip and salsa and caprese. the cobb salad is also really good. everyone who works there is super nice and there is great service.

Love love love mark's panini and the chicken pesto panini! Just tried their toasted sammies - pretty good but paninis are still my fave!

A new gem has moved-in to Isla Vista. Already successful with three other shops around Santa Barbara, the Isla Vista location has quickly become a hit with the locals. An extensive menu of sandwiches (hot and cold), paninis, salads, and breakfast items. A nice addition would be soup, but it's not yet on the menu. I paid $9 for the R.B.C. panini (roast beef with sundried tomato mayo, caramelized onions and cambozola cheese), which I thought was a little pricey but the ingredients are good. Crisp sourdough, rich cheese (although there was WAY too much on mine), and roast beef (would have been better if the roast beef was hot when put on the panini however, it was cold and was cooling off the rest of my sammie!). Service was quick, and the wait staff are very friendly. A nice, hip environment, but I felt like I was being bombarded by media, from blasting music, to the TV simultaneously playing music videos, that it was too loud for my liking. It has a cute patio area, which is probably quieter, but not much use in cold weather. Will probably be back here...sure will give Silvergreens a run for its money!

(2)Loryn F.
(5)Catherine B.
My favorite deli in the entire area. All Their sandwiches and salads are yummy and fairly big portions for the price. Also a plus that their staff at all locations are friendly and have great customer service skills. Love SCD!!!
(5)Cody O.
-Jimmy
(3)Ashley E.
(4)Darren C.
(4)Patrick D.
If you're hungry and need a food break from studying for finals, this is the perfect place to go to...if you want to be sassed by one of their waitresses :/ Southcoast absolutely kills it with their food. Would've given the full 5 stars but the waitress was salty AF
(4)Elijah O.
(4)Joseph H.
I was visiting my cousin at UCSB and she said I HAD to try this place. Very very good sandwich! I got the turkey with avocado panini I think? Really tasty and filling for a descent price.
(4)Chelsea B.
(4)Will H.
Delicious. I have yet to have a bad item off the menu, and I've eaten here a lot. Even the salads are delicious! (and why would I go to a sandwich shop for a salad)
(5)Sophie P.
(4)Jane C.
Yummy sandwiches. Clean, spacious patio. The Pepper Plant hot sauce. Favorite sandwich: Viet Nom Nom. Stop being crazy and put it on the regular menu. PLEASE!
(4)Asmita J.
(4)Shirley K.
(4)Jackie C.
Such an awesome menu and selection at this place. The Cobb salad is to die for and the Veggie sandwich is also a favorite of mine. The location is so close to campus and makes it an easy stop for a quick lunch break between classes. The employees here are always so friendly and helpful.
(5)Taylor A.
It's a little pricey, but definitely worth the extra cash. All the sandwiches I've tried are great and filling, but I'd have to say the fowl play salad is my absolutely favorite! It's best when you're starving. The mix of spicy and sweet with barbeque chicken is amazing.
(5)Becky K.
(2)Kirsten B.
This place is amazing! The T n' A panini is the best sandwich that I have EVER had! Can't wait to try some other sandwiches here.
(5)Sarah S.
Truly divine sandwiches! Never soggy, never dry. Great flavor combinations. Great service: friendly, prompt, accommodates special requests. Pleasant and clean outdoor seating. Price-wise it's more expensive.
(5)Ashley B.
Friendly, fast service, take out food can be ordered online.. basically very convenient in many ways! Also, their chicken caesar salad sandwich is worth killing for :p
(5)Juliana K.
(1)Roger P.
Love this place. One of the best sandwich places in Santa Barbara. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Sammy and the Chicken Chipotle Club.
(5)T G.
The sandwiches are really one of the best in Isla Vista! I recommend everyone to at least try this place. Albeit pricy. It's very good and they put a lot of meat in your sandwiches! It is always a nice surprise when they give you a lollipop. FIVE STARS!
(5)Alex R.
They have great Cesar salads here for a decent price. The place is always clean and costumer service is on point. Breakfast sandwiches are good too - took away two stars for the chicken on the salad - the last few times it was wet, cold, and floppy.
(3)Qui C.
(4)Jennifer C.
One of my favorite places to go in Isla Vista. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's totally worth it. Ample portions, great sauces, and awesome sammies and salads. Just pick anything from the menu and you won't be disappointed! My favorite: Cobb Salad
(5)Isaac B.
Pricey? Maybe. Consistently delicious, unique, and beyond the IV food spectrum? Absolutely, thank you so much for being delicious. I would happily pay the price for a sandwich at South Coast anywhere outside of IV. Haven't had a complaint yet, and have ordered multiple things multiple times.
(5)Carl P.
(5)Robin B.
(4)Katie H.
(4)Nicole A.
(4)Jenn C.
(5)Katie B.
(5)Josephus F.
(1)Jackie V.
(5)Brandon N.
I tried to have every sandwich at least once, and every single one of them were delicious. It's a little pricey but sandwiches are definitely big enough to split and be full so it's a pretty great value. I'm glad they broke the curse of that property!
(4)Raquel D.
Only been here a few times because they're expensive, but my sandwiches were excellent! They have some great unique and delicious choices, hot and cold sandwiches, and I was very please!
(4)Hailey J.
Great sandwiches in a cute college town. Love that they use shredded lettuce. They have a variety of great spreads. They beer kettle chips were great. A must try if in the area!
(4)Mira Z.
(3)Nick I.
(4)Jacqueline G.
(3)Evan L.
(5)Grace K.
(3)Don F.
Pastrami and Italian meat sammies. We loved both, we did the grilled versions. Can not wait to try more.
(4)Jamie B.
Not much can be said for this place that hasn't already been said, if you tolerate mayonnaise and have a pulse your going to find something you like
(4)Paul R.
Wow!
(5)Kelly G.
I have never gotten a disappointing sandwich from southcoast. I've had the pulled pork one with coke slaw, the buffalo chicken one and a turkey avocado sandwich. Yum!
(5)Taylor H.
Hands down the best sandwich shop god ever created. Their south coast turkey is to die for. Their Caesar salad Sammie is perfect after a nice day at the beach! Their meatball sandwich is everything you would ever want it be. Basically everything here is perfection! You can't go wrong!
(5)Petros K.
The food is a little more on the expensive side, but let me just say that it's totally worth it. The portions are huge and the food is absolutely delicious. I have yet to be disappointed, and that is rare with anywhere I eat. If you want to reward yourself for some sort of odd reason, come eat here.
(5)Vaibhav A.
(5)Russell T.
I love south coast deli! It's delicious and fresh and I love to try new things on the menu. Now that it is in IV it's so convenient. I used to drive all the way to goleta for it!
(5)Jamie T.
I had the chicken pesto panini here and it was pretty darn good. The chicken was just the right amount of juicy and their pesto was very good. I don't normally go for the panini but since I saw so many nice yelp reviews for it, I decided to give it a go :)
(3)Sydney C.
(5)Zack B.
(5)Carly H.
(4)Jessica C.
Awesome sandwiches! Great mixing of flavors. I really love this place. Hours are limited though.
(4)Brian R.
Easily the best sandwich place in IV, if not the highest quality eatery in the whole town. The Chipotle Chicken Club is the most delicious thing on IV. The portions are also very large so don't let high prices put you off. Treat yourself! Way better than stupid Jimmy Johns
(5)Nicole U.
(4)Paige S.
yes yes yes yes absolutely yes.
(5)Paulina T.
(4)M W.
This place is very good. I just posted a photo of the very generously sized Cobb salad. Nice location with some outdoor seating. The salad is excellent.
(5)Aubrie A.
Yum! I had a Chicken & Pesto Panini that was pretty good here!
(3)Stacy K.
(4)Avery E.
The salads here are amazing! I always ask them for it without the meat, and sometimes they offer to put avocado on instead and it's delicious. I love the romain and gorgonzola salad dressing. I do wish they had more vegetarian sandwiches, though.
(4)Kelliann E.
love love love their french dip so good!!!!
(5)Joy E.
(4)Diana L.
(5)T D.
I almost never crave sandwiches, but I sure crave South Coast Deli! My favorite is the chicken pesto panini. Yum! They are a bit expensive for sandwiches though ($8-11), or I'd go more often.
(5)Ariel R.
