This is a nice restaruant but it's missing flavor and needs more attentive servers. I like to go somewhere where I feel welcomed and valued, and I didn't feel like this at all here. I came here for dinner and lunch a few times but due to so so service I just order once in a while and pick it up. Some of their dishes are delicious but some are tasteless. Some say spicy and are sweet, what's the deal with that? Their chow mein is in need of flavor, it used to taste way better than how it does now. Their portions seem to be getting smaller and their prices higher.

STAY AWAY. STAY FAR AWAY. Went there with my family for dinner. Never got seated after waiting for about 15 minutes. A different party just went and sat down at the table that the hostess was going to seat me. hostess totally clueless and didn't know what to do. Just left us standing and waiting. Eddie -- the manager -- is a total jerk. Did not help at all and instead was very dismisive of us when we left after never being seated. Amazingly incompetent, rude, uncaring service.

Love this place! Always good food and I come here all the time with family. We usually order their Singapore style noodles and Fish with Veggies. There is always consistency which never disappoints. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Hayward and the ambiance is excellent.

SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED! I've been coming here since Jan...about once a month because it was AMAZING (keyword: WAS). But these last two times I've gone in July something is different...the chow mein is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! It is bland and what ever sauce/spices/ingredients they've used in the past, they don't us now. Also, the garlic wings were bland!! No seasoning....absolutely dissatisfied! I guess that was the last time I'll be going there. Has anybody experienced the change as well? When I called to order yesterday ( the 2nd time I had it with the change) I asked them if there was a new owner because sometimes the food changes based on that and the lady said no..SO either: A. They have a new cook... B. They are trying to save money and skimp on the ingredients.. Either way, I will not be back! SMH. So disappointed.

Awesome Chinese food!! My family and I have been in search of an awesome Chinese restaurant and we accidentally stumbled on this gem! The food is amazing! I just moved to hayward so we Yelped a few places and settled on this place, we loved it so much we ate there twice the first week we moved in.

Dining here is kind of like PF Chang's but ummmm.... better! The basic thing is that it is Americanized Chinese food. But it's darn good Americanized Chinese food! And it's more affordable than the aforementioned restaurant and the service is just as good. My favs include the Spicy Deep Fried Calamari. Although the amount jalapeno in it has diminished over the years. Yes, recession is measured in spice. I also love the Hong Kong Style Beef Steak... so tender and flavorful. The pan fried noodles are good too. Which one? All of them! The End

This place is GORGEOUS to take anyone special or for work purpose (marketing). It's a great place to eat lunch or dinner. The waiters are fantastic and friendly. I would always order the appetizers instead of the main entrees. Once in awhile, when I order my food ends up cold instead of hot. I wonder if the waiters wait for all the food to be ready and then serve it?! I dunno...Overall, all that matters is that the place is still clean, I hope and that their customer service is still going strong with their kindness. I just wish that their prices can be lowered due to our economic crisis.

The food is acceptable, but the service is TERRIBLE....it's really sad that customer service is not a priority for this place because they have a lot of potential...I don't yelp frequently at all, but I'm certain this yelp review to be my duty!!.. I've held back on writing a review on this places unacceptable service for some time now, I dont have many options in hayward for chinese food so I returned to this establishment time n time again to get sustenance, but NEVER AGAIN! I had to take my order home to try to enjoy in the peace n comfort of my own home!!! The details are not necessary n I will hold back on the elaborate criticisms n say that they suck!!!!!!!!!!! Shame on you Chef's!!!

I called chef's for a take out order, the lady on the phone spoke clear and was very nice, which is rare for most Chinese restaurants. They told me my order would be ready in 15 mins. When I got there in 15 mins. I was greeted and helped instantly. The host was very friendly and my food was ready on time. When i got home the food was still hot. I ordered Foil Wrapped Chicken (an appetizer) each piece was super juicy and full of flavor . I also ordered the Combination Chow Mein which was delicious, the meat and shrimps paired perfectly with the chow mein and it wasn't mushy or gooey either. On to the main course, the Mongolian Beef which was succulent, flavorful and full of spices. It was just the right amount of onions and peppers that didn't overflow my plate and it still had a kick to it .The beef was tender and not chewy at all, it just melts in your mouth. Overall I rate this restaurant 5 stars for take out. Although the prices are a little high compared to other Chinese restaurants, it's well worth it! The next time i go i would love to dine in and have the full chefs experience.

Atmosphere is good, decent staff and some food is good while others are definitely lacking. I recommended this place dozens of times , but their food no longer wows me. I used to have this as a 5 star place now it just average. Example of this is their orange chicken. It used to be delicious now it seems like a completely different recipe. Not a bad place to go would try again, but really they are kicking out average food for higher than average prices. The kitchen has lost its touch.

I've eaten here a few times, the food is decent the and waiters were nice. As for the bar service, well that's another story. I walked in at 9:30pm sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before the barback waitress even acknowledge my presence(it wasn't busy enough to be ignored)... then she said that we stopped seating people. It would have been nIce to know that 10 mInutes prIor instead of sitting around and waitiing!! HorrIble servIce.

This place is ok.. I would not go back on my own only with my boyfriend, who LOVES Chinese food..what I liked the most is that the food was not super greasy .. it had just the right amount of veggies to meat, n not overloaded with sprouts. We got fried rice, fried calamari, sweet n sour chk,Mongolia chk,n steak cubes. The food was good not the best I ever had or anything.. it was HOT n FRESH to order.. The restaurant itself was very clean n the decor was neat. Not fancy but up to date n classy, with a fish tank n a full bar. Not bad for a hidden spot.. I would definitely recommend to someone that is in the area looking for a casual place to dine.

I'm really surprised at the 4-star rating! We ordered take-out so can't speak to the service. However, the chow fun is super greasy. BBQ pork was dry and flavorless. I ordered onion pancakes and they gave me what looks like and tastes like plain tortilla. Oh, and when we walked in... no Asians... bad sign! I'm Chinese so believe me when I say that this is definitely not quality Chinese food!

My wife found Chef's Experience China Bistro on Yelp. The place is better looking on the inside than the outside. The decor is nice looking. They have a good variety of choices on the menu, so we easily found things to order. We ordered asparagus with black bean sauce, mango chicken, and a veggie-chicken. The asparagus was good, as was the veggie-chicken (soy chicken?). The mango chicken was not that great, but maybe we should not have ordered that, because it's not really a Chinese dish. The prices were mostly between $9-13 per dish....I guess it's because the have bistro in their name. We would recommend the Chef's Experience China Bistro to others.

A solid 3 star rating. The food, service and ambience are all pretty good. Don't forget to rub the big piece of Jade for good luck when you enter. The second thing you see when you enter is the big aquarium with the colorful fish. The next thing you notice is the big bar and the huge restaurant that is pretty nicely done up with the murals and soft lighting. I had the mochatini which was good, sweet and strong. The food was all pretty good too. The honey sesame chicken and string beans were the standouts. The noodles and beef broccoli were so so. They must get a good deal on their broccoli because all the dishes were loaded with it! Service was very good and efficient. Like I said, a solid 3.

Great find and we were amazed with their entrees, it's NOT like PF Chang's at all! First time we sat in the dining room in the corner over looking the entire restaurant. Ordered: Combo Seafood in bird's nest, The BEST! Basil Chicken and Prawns, yummy! vermicelli noodles were so tasty! Second time we sat at the bar, it was pretty packed. GREAT SERVICE! Ordered: Combo Seafood in bird's nest, still the BEST! Spicy Seafood combo on special, so yummy and fish was so fresh! The same oh so tasty noodles. The best bartender we had in a long time. Better service at the bar than the dining room! Love it! Can't wait to go back!

It's never a good thing when you have to ask for chopsticks at a Chinese restaurant. For Non-Asian peeps seeking Westernized Chinese food, it's way better than Panda Express and better quality than PF Changs. For Asian peeps, the decor and ambiance is a lot better than your greasy hole-in-the-wall Chinatown joint. There's also a full bar here. A cocktail with chow fun is something you can't always find.

The atmosphere and servers are really nice, however, the food is nothing special. Salty, greasy, and not very flavorful. There are many other places for Chinese food in Hayward, so I'd definitely skip this restaurant.

The furnishings are a step above most Chinese restaurants, but I think to call it a "Bistro" is a stretch. The prices are a couple steps above most Chinese restaurants. The food was OK, but not as special as the prices. Good service. It is a little too noisy.

The food here never seems to fail me. Great flavor and generous servings. Price is a little higher then your typical Chinese Restaurant but you do get what you pay for. Awesome appetizers and a great happy hour menu. They have a full bar and the Bartender, Robert, gives great service and makes a nice long island. You wont be disappointed.

Our Family had a Celebration of Life in the Banquet room with a large party of 60 people. Ed worked with us on the Menu prior to the event and we were able to bring photos, dessert and floral centerpieces. Our reunion was perfect and the food was great. The Ahi Salad, Dim Sum appetizers and platters of food that never stopped coming. We loved the Sizzling Salmon and the Honey Walnut Prawns, the Wok Grilled Steak and Scallops was so tender. Our guest were amazed at the amount of food that the gracious servers kept bringing out. We shared a gratifying experience and are looking forward to coming back.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and we and our guests all had a fabulous time. The back room has ample space for eighty guests (8 tables with ten place settings). There's a small dance floor to get your groove on, the food was delicious, the staff friendly and professional, and best of all, the price was totally reasonable. I worked with the manager, Ed, and he was very accommodating and maintained open communication with me from my initial room rental inquiry up until the night of the event. I was able to drop off our bottles of wine the day before the reception (so the whites could be chilled in the fridge), and my friends were allowed to come to the restaurant a few hours early on the wedding day to decorate the tables with centerpieces. The back room also has its own set of restrooms, so our guests didn't have to trudge through the main dining room to get to the default set of restrooms. I'm so glad we decided to have our wedding reception at this restaurant. We saved a lot of money, but still has a wonderful "experience" at Chef's Experience. See what I did there?

Ordered the orange chicken, sesame chicken, fried rice and white rice. I liked the fried rice. We had wonton soup for a lunch special. It was all okay food. I liked the sesame chicken, and it was my first time having sesame chicken so I don't really have something to compare it to. The orange chicken was just ok. Rice was fluffy, but I never really like white rice from restaurants. Haha. I've had a lot better Chinese food at a better price. But, the service is really great and the ambiance of the place is really nice.

Wow! Went on a Friday night and this place was jumpin. Full bar which is a rarity in a Chinese Restaurant. I do have to say Chinese Restaurant with a grain of salt... this isn't your authentic rude waiter, barely speak English type of Chinese. The dishes are all Chinese-American. Think a more upscale Panda Express. I didn't say there was anything wrong with that... just setting expectations here. I like me some Sweet and Sour Pork and Broccoli Beef just like any American. Just don't be looking for no feet or offal. I can see why they are busy. Food and staff was pretty good. Overall, I would come back again.

Was I eating in the same place as all the other yelpers? This place was like any other run down Chinese food restaurant that offers three dishes for under 20 bucks. Maybe because of the good reviews or maybe because the name of the restaurant actually has the word bistro in it, I actually expected to have a higher quality Chinese food. And by higher-quality I mean chicken that does not taste like it has been soaking in a mop bucket for two weeks before it was cooked and put on your plate. Seriously what is up with that texture? At least when I go to Ming Tasty's or even worse delight cafe I know what I am getting myself into. No-frills, no good but for a very cheap cost. But for the same type of food this place charge $12 a plate! The sauce on the mango chicken was slimy from being overly thickened with cornstarch. The meat in the pork buns had way too much dark soy sauce flavor and tasted like somebody just rehydrated some jerky. 50 bucks for a meal that fed three adults and one small child. We took home the bowl of white rice (but left the two uneaten chicken dishes) because we were at a loss of what to do with the fact that we just paid all that money for basically in edible food.

FINALLY tried this place out after all my friends have been talking about it. Judging from the outside, you would never expect how nice it is on the inside. The waitresses are ALL very nice. Its cozy and very clean. When it came to the food, ehhhh. I dont know if my friends hyped it up too much, but I wasnt impress. Felt like you can get the same quality food at panda express. The only difference is they plate the food nicer. Cant say that I would go back if I'm craving chinese food.

I wish I had more time to write a long review... I've been visiting Chef's Experience since they opened many years ago, and I still can't get over the amazing quality of food (and at such low prices!) in Hayward. I'm a vegetarian and they have so many wonderful dishes to choose from. I always order at least 2 extra entrees to take home with me, and I still end up paying less than one meal in any restaurant I eat at near Mountain View/Menlo Park (where I work). The flavors are delicious, and consistent--I've never had a bad (or even a fair) meal, it's always superb. I just can't say enough good--go, and enjoy!!

I am going to have to downgrade 1 star. Still love this place, but last time I had it, it was not as good as I remember. The chicken was mediocre and the noodles were good but not great. The price can creep up on you. I ordered chicken, rice, noodles, and soup for like $45! Damn, I might as well went to Red Lobster. Overall, good Chinese Chow, but not 5 star worthy.

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. First let me start by stating that I've been going to this restaurant for over 5 years. We have had them cater our meetings, as well as host agency lunches/dinners. I'm not as regular as some of my co-workers who frequent the place weekly, but none the less I've been there a fair share and have actually introduced many people to this Restaurant. That all changed after my most recent experience. In planning to have lunch there, we always try to arrive prior to the noon rush, as order times tend to run on the lengthy side. This past week's experience was borderline insulting. After ordering our food, 20 minutes later the first appetizer arrives. Fried Chicken wings. After our first bite, we saw the BLOOD dripping onto the plate. Disgusted we flag down our server, who apologizes and takes the chicken away for a fresh batch. Patience wearing thin after the 45 minutes wait for our food, with only the small chicken wings holding us over. I ask to speak to the Manager. Eddie comes over as I explain the problem, to which he answers, that we at least have our CHICKEN! After 45 mins? Then he seems to "get it" and walks away without any apology, or explanation. I assume to expedite the actual entrées. However it was extremely rude and noted by all in our party. At this point, it's of course way too late to eat, and after boxing up the food I ask for our server to call the manager back as I felt it was very unprofessional to not offer some sort of apology since nothing was comp'ed and we had wasted our entire lunch. To which I was informed that the manager had "left" and there was no one who could assist us. The kicker was after we left, a co-worker brought up our experience with the manager who WAS there maybe 10 min after we left. After being attentive to her complaints about OUR service, he provided her with a $20 GC to forward over to us. But I ask myself, what could be the difference between myself, and that co-worker, who had absolutely nothing to do with our complaint? Yet was able to receive such a complimentary solution to our problem? I probably don't need to answer that. Bistro is normally a good place to eat, the servers are generally very attentive and the food is good. However, I refuse to patronize any place that treats anyone differently, for whatever the reason. Even after calling and asking to speak to him directly, Eddie has not returned my call. They could have saved a few customers, instead, I'll make sure people know my experience and can gauge for themselves whether it's worth the risk to go there for lunch or dinner.

This has been my favorite Chinese food restaurant for the past four to five years. My family and I discovered it and have been addicted ever since. The food is served family style, so everyone can order their favorite dish and share. It is amazing quality, with excellent service. My favorites are the Lettuce Wraps, Chow Fun, Honey Sesame Chicken, and of course the Mamba for dessert! I have enjoyed EVERY dish i have ever ordered there... and i think I've tried almost everything... Not to mention there is a full bar, adn their Volcano drink for 2 is outstanding!!! Highly recommended!!!

The food was good but we were very disappointed by the service. I was served a draught beer with a large shard of broken glass in it. My wife saw it before I took a nice big chug. Staff seemed indifferent and would not comp my beer. Waitress seemed a bit lost and not attentive to our table.

I love this little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. I've come here like three times because it's just great. When you look at the outside you wouldn't expect for it to look this nice inside. The layout is really cool and makes you feel like you're at an upper scale restaurant. As for the food it's pretty good. I got pot stickers to start which they brought out and fried them in front of us! So cool. Then I got the orange chicken which wasn't the greatest I've ever had but it was pretty scrumcious! I'll be back if I'm in the area :)

UGH! Sooo irritated with my latest experience I made a yelp account just to write this review. They've always been one of the nicer Chinese restaurants in the area but they've taken a turn for the worse. The food is bland now, the prices are higher, and the service sucks - well at least the one waitress who looks like Gigi from He's Just Not That Into You. I went in with my family of 5 plus my sister that refused to order or eat (high school diet obsession?)for a total of 6 people. Our waitress was very disengaged from the moment she walked over and was incredibly slow with the service. Not only did they bring out the wrong dish for me, but the waitress told us, very rudely, when we asked where it was that "there was a long line of orders ahead of us" (after 15 minutes of waiting for my vegetarian chow mein already). Are you serious?? YOU mess up our order and we get sent to the back of the long ass line! Ridiculous. It FINALLY came out after everyone else had finished their plates. I had to eat a dinner of steamed rice and vegetables I picked out of other peoples dishes (aka 90% bean sprouts - that were incredibly bland and greasy). Then when it came out, the chow mein was totally different tasting than it has in the past. It was almost flavorless. And to top it off, they tacked on a 17% tip for our group of 6, even though my sister just sat there and didn't eat. Its like they know they will get tipped regardless because of the large party tip so they don't give a crap about giving you good service. I don't know what happened to this place but I am extremely disappointed because it used to be great.

A lot of places serve "good Chinese food" Chef's Experience serves GREAT Chinese food, and is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I have been to in the Bay Area. The food is excellent. It has a really fresh flavor and you get a lot of it in an order. With specialties such as crab wontons, this place really knows how to keep you intrigued by all the different flavors and masterfully prepared fare. The prices here are also really good for such good quality meals. The service is professional and friendly, and the place is clean as a whistle. The atmosphere is unique, with trees, water, and what looks like a fabric bundt cake on the ceiling. It can get loud in here, but that is because the place is so good that people pile into the place. Highly, highly recommended.

Mother said that getting into this restaurant was confusing because the entrance was in the backside. Mother does not like to be confused, mother said that lets the bad thoughts in. Mother said the aquarium inside is just like being at a real aquarium but I dont think thats true. Mother said there are too many people at real aquariums and that I could lose her to a giant fish who'll eat me but I think that's ridiculous. The portion sizes here are huge. Mother keeps me hungry so the meal should last me a week, two if I misbehave. I wonder how people can eat so much. Then I remember that mother said that other mothers are bad and let their kids eat and eat until they are full and thats why people are so tall. Mother keeps me hungry so I stay little. She says that way I'll always be her little angel. I would come here again for the food but I would only come without mother.

The host (bartender) was exceedingly rude to our group upon entering the establishment. He barely shot a glance in our direction as we entered, and we stood awkwardly for a while, not knowing what the protocol for seating was. The hostess podium was vacant, and so we stood, and stood. Then, like a petulant child distracted from playing with his favorite toy, the bartender literally scowled at us as he slowly made his way over. Clearly humphed at having to seat our party of 6, his body language said it all. We offered smiles, patience, even a cheerful "hello" which he simply ignored by turning his back and sauntering in to the dining area without even checking to see if we were following. He then waited, arms folded, practically tapping his foot because apparently we weren't moving fast enough. Service here is a dismal one star, food is three (decent, overpriced, and not worth the side helping of abuse). Needless to say, we won't be back. China Bistro, seek out an employee that values customer service to run the front of your house. Service, or lack there of is an enormous factor in the restaurant business. Your dining room was not even half full the night we dined there, and it would behoove you to consider a changing of the guard, or at least his diaper so that you can tie a tourniquet to stop the loss of business. We won't be back, but you might be able to salvage a few other patrons who would otherwise be treated similarly.

Really good. It's a nice restaurant, with a very good staff. Food is kind of like P.F. Chang, good food, but somewhat Americanized; the kind of place you could easily take out of town friends. Bar is really good, too. Weekend evenings plan on having to wait to be seated, though.

When I am in this part of the Bay Area visiting one of my good friends here in the East Bay we wind up coming here for some great dinners. The dish selection is very good and the service is constantly above par as the wait staff really work as a team to get the first course out to us. Then follows all the entrees. I really like their seafood selections and chicken and beef dishes. The portions are very generous and we usually wind up taking plenty home as leftovers. So if you find yourself in eastern part of Hayward with a Chinese food craving, this is the place to go!

Came in with my family (party of 20!) on a Tuesday night for my dad's birthday. Food was excellent and came out promptly. Great customer service from our waiter Kyle. Kyle was super friendly and served our large party with great care. Probably won't order the VIP duck next time around, but everything else was grand.

Whenever we eat here I think of Chef from Southpark. Cheaper than pf changs, with less of a crowd and better food quality. Service can be great or you can wind up with a not-so-enthusiastic waiter. Favorites: chicken lettuce wraps and spicy green beans with brown rice. That's more than enough food for two, and under $20 with tax and tip. Just don't ask for them to prepare any dish with light salt - I think they misunderstood and made my last order extra salty.

We got takeout from Chef's the other day and I'm sad to say I was incredibly disappointed. The Silver Wrapped Chicken was gross, just gross. I LOVE foil-wrapped chicken, it used to be the only chinese thing I'd eat when I was a kid. And yes, I know it kind of always looks like cat food no matter where you get it, but at least the taste usually makes up for it. Not here. Almond chicken was still pretty tasty, and the chow mein was nothing spectacular but alright. Stir fried vegetables were lame, flavorless, and lacked variety (seriously, like 3 slices of carrot and 5 mushrooms in a TON of bok choy and celery). Bottom line: I don't know what happened, but it's no longer worth the high prices. For takeout, go to Green Tea House or Tin Fu.

Came here with a large group of friends. Didn't get the large round table that we reserved. Food was decent, but the portions were really unpredictable. Some were good, but the meat dishes were very tiny. No Chinese people except us at this restaurant. Probably wouldn't come back, too expensive for the amount of food. Service was pretty decent.

Interesting place. I'd call it PF Chang Lite. It's clearly marketed to non-Chinese. Nice restaurant with some Chinese touches. Service was good, and all the wait staff was non-Asian. Easy parking in the back. Food was also pretty decent. I had to peek into the kitchen on the way out and saw Chinese cooking the food. My wor won ton soup was a bit salty, but the won ton dumplings were pretty good. Seemed authentic. Other dishes I saw looked good too. No "fusion" food here. The menu selections were pretty small when compared with the usual Chinese restaurant. This, along with the somewhat higher prices that I'm used to paying for Chinese food, are my only real gripes about the place. No round banquet tables, no chopsticks. Full bar. Western-style desserts. Felt odd being served Chinese food by a Caucasian.

Well I'm going to trust that saying that if you don't see individuals from the cultural background in the restaurant, avoid it. Our experience last night (1/22/11) was HORRIBLE. We got there to a packed restaurant with individuals from all other cultural backgrounds. I didn't see any other Asians in the restaurant. We were led to a table, but it took the server at least 10-15 minutes to get to us. We tried to order an appetizer, but was told by the server that ordering the Shu Mai would take more time than it would take to get the main course. She said it would take at least 25 minutes to prepare and it would not be in our best interest to order it before dinner. She suggested something else. I asked about the Har Gow and was told the same thing, as well as with the Silver Chicken and the Potstickers. Eventually we had to go with the vegetable egg rolls, Seafood bird nest, and the Shrimp Chow Fun. About 5 minutes later the table seated next to us--the party arrive AFTER we did--happened to receive their Potstickers, Shu Mai, and Har Gow. Obviously we were upset. We waved down the waitress only to be told that the table next to us was here before us. When we told the waitress we SAW them arrive after us, she tried making up the excuse that they had reservations, we also mention to them we noticed that was also a lie and she said it was a fluke. Put it this way the rest of the meal after this experience was major downhill. The vegetable egg rolls were oily, but the insides were still raw and bitter. The Shrimp Chow Fun was cooked with used old oil, because the chow fun noodles were dark in color and very small. The chow fun tasted very oily. The Seafood birds nest was okay, but the basket it was in was plain gross. After dinner we left without a tip. We did mention to the manager about the horrible experience and about the attitude of the waitress that spoiled the experience along with the bad so called authentic Chinese food. I'd rather go to a restaurant where the cultural identities of the staff are evident. Call me old fashion, but I'm never going back to a restaurant without individuals from that culture missing from the facility again. There was nothing authentic about this food aside from being over priced and disgusting. For authentic Chinese food, I'd recommend the Three Brothers restaurant in San Ramon. I've been there many times and my mom recommends them. Can't beat a recommendation from mom.

As you all know 5 * = "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" and this is fairly accurate with 1 caveat: FOR HAYWARD My future Mr. and I have been trying to find a Chinese place with food for both the meat eater and vegetarian, where the quality of all the ingredients aren't suspicious. Quite a tall order, I know. This place delivers. But not in the "they bring food to your door" way, but in a "they fulfill our needs" way. We ordered take out. I think they have lots of stuff on a secret menu because I was able to order things I could not read about. Like salt and pepper tofu. YUM! Salt, red pepper, jalapeno, and garlic. So delicious. We also had really good, fresh, quality, vegetable fried rice, some better-as-leftovers vegetable chow fun (still better than ANY other chow fun in the haystack), and the honey sesame chicken. He said that was excellent. The price is slightly higher than other local places for the same items, but totally fucking worth it for food that's actually savored. We will be back. Oh yes, we will be back.

TOTALLY a whole in the wall, but don't let the exterior fool you..this place is AMAZING! Service is fast and food is phenomenal! Best kept secret Hayward! A must try if you're in to Chinese! Definitely NOT your usual extra greasy, not enough noodles and too much veggie type gross Chinese take-out! The place is nicely decorated..really modern and the Menu is easy to read and everything on the menu is DELISH! the ONLY thing I dislike...which I dislike about most places is that the food is served on a bed of lettuce. I HATE beds of lettuce! Other than that...a must try!

We ordered the following: -Silver Wrapped Chicken: the chicken was weird and I didn't enjoy it. It was my first time trying but my BF loves these and he also was not a fan. -Pot Stickers: they were made table side and we very delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Best part of the meal. -Honey Sesame Chicken: the meat they used is quality. The batter was kind of generic - very floury and soft and the sauce was extremely sweet and one dimensional. it just tasted like sugar. it almost felt like i was eating funnel cake. -Orange Chicken: same as above: great quality chicken, generic batter. The sauce was decent but it wasn't spicy AT ALL as described on the menu. Had to add a lot of chili sauce. Service was excellent (they work as a team) and it was a decent atmosphere. There is parking out back and the entree portions were good for the price.

Fancy Chinese in a not so fancy part of Hayward. You'd never guess such a gem like this would settle in this part of town. We drove by this restaurant several times because its so hard to spot. They have an impressive bar and drink menu to match. We came on a Monday night. We ate. We drank. We were merry! Service is fair but the food and drink is what you really come for.

Amazing 'hole in the wall'. It's actually really big and nice inside, but you'd never guess from the outside. Inside, it's really nicely decorated, REALLY clean, and the staff is really nice. I can't say it's the fastest of service, but it 's adequate. I love the chow fun noodles the best, which is saying a lot because my grandma's chow fun is perfect. The servings are meant to be for family-style dining. Come here with a group of friends, order different dishes and share. Everything is great as leftovers as well.

Chef's Experience is one of only a handful of restaurants that we frequent in East Bay. If our chiropractor had not recommended this place, we would never have found it as the surrounding area isn't exactly known for good food. We can still remember the first time we visited -- we found it odd that the main entrance was the back door. But seeing past that, the staff was very accommodating and the place was nicely decorated -- and yes, as what their ads say, they do have a great cocktail bar. And the manager/owner, Eddie, was so nice that we were on a first-name basis and sharing tips about getting settled with a newborn baby by the end of the night. Now on to the food, which is the real reason why we keep coming back. We always tell each other that we'll order different things from the menu on every visit, but we always end up getting the same thing. Why mess with a good thing? The steamed sea bass got us hooked on the get go. Nice, fresh and simply cooked with the right mix of ginger and soy sauce. The wok-grilled steak and scallops is our other favorite. We usually order another dish, but these two are the ones we dream about at night. We usually have a doggie bag with leftover food when we eat out, but we never have that problem when we are at Chef's. The prices have gone up a bit since our first visit, but if you live in CV, they usually send out discounts in the mail for $10-15 off your meal. That's probably the only reason why we sort through our junk mail. We love Chef's and we'll continue to be regulars as long as they keep our favorites on the menu!

My family and I have been coming to Chef's Experience for years. In the last 3 months, we have introduced 4 new families to this restaurant. All of those friends are still upset that we have kept this place a secret!!! :) This isn't your corner mom and pop Chinese restaurant. (THANKFULLY!!!) Its decor and ambiance are more upscale. I've been to quite a few Chinese restaurants where the Mongolian Beef tastes exactly like the Lemon Chicken. However, every dish served at this establishment tastes very different from one another. The food is cooked-to-order and made with fresh, quality ingredients. This is the only Chinese restaurant where I don't get sick after eating my meal. I also love their desserts. They sell these ice cream "bombs" that are literally the bomb. We always save room for a dessert or 2. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. My husband held his annual staff party here and was very impressed with how the whole affair was handled. He was even more pleased that the food was just as good even though the staff was cooking for 25 people. I've heard some people complain about the prices here, but I'd rather pay a little more to eat quality Chinese food rather than pay a few bucks less to eat sub-par Chinese. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

Greeted by a wonderful young woman. Was seated asap. Unlimited white rice or brown rice with thw purchase of an entree. Food came out hot! Condiments were missing but waiter was happy to get those for us. All workers smiled surprisingly but Like always my lady and I noticed one sad worker. Overall, this place is worth trying.

I've been here as an omnivore (4 years ago) and as an herbivore and, I must say, I have never been disappointed. The sizzling tofu is definitely my favorite. Other friends and family members seem to enjoy the mongolian beef, eggplant tofu and chicken with green beans. The atmosphere is pretty nice here too because the owner is super nice and friendly. The servers are also very attentive and the food comes out fairly quickly. Another plus to this place is the cleanliness. The food is a bit Americanized but seriously every family member that we have ever taken here, whether they are from another part of California or from another country, has always enjoyed this place. They also take orders over the phone for pick up, which is great when you don't feel like hanging out in a public place but still want bomb food. We've been coming here since it opened and we've hardly ever been disappointed. I definitely recommend this place.

Great place, great food and awesome drinks. This China bistro is a nice place to grab a bite and a drink. The food is good and the service is good also. The people are always friendly and welcoming. Rarely a wait, but always full of people. The price is moderate to low, depending on the dish. Great place for a local eatery, and the dining area is well appointed and comfortable.

Wow. I mean, I totally didn't expect this. The "front" on the main street was all blacked and closed, but it had an open sign and said parking the back. The back entrance looked fine, but once you enter, you know that this literally is the back entrance. You pass by the bathroom and then reach the host station. As you past the bathroom, the servers are trying to get food out of the kitchen. So you literally have 3 different sources of traffic at the same place. But....on to the food, awesomely unexpectedly good!! Everything was tasty. We didn't try the drinks but they looked really good and well thought out as well. We saw many different other entrees come out and everything smelled so good. I think although I was the only Chinese person in there, the place is damn authentic in many ways. It is Americanized, like maybe no ginger and things like that. But still, it tasted good. I will definitely be going back and wanna try everything.

I love this restaurant! We went again last night for a family dinner and it was delicious! Every single plate was eaten clean. It's definitely time to write a review. First of all, the food is consistently good. We always tell the chef to make it extra spicy and it turns out great. Our usuals are: Mongolian chicken, basil chicken (one of my favorites), kung pao, chow mein, and salt & pepper shrimps. Rosie is one of the best servers they have there. She is like part of the family, very friendly and attentive. There is ample parking at the back of the restaurant with a back entrance so it is very convenient. The inside of the restaurant is also nice and has a good ambiance- fish tank, water fountain, tree, and what not.

Great food, good portions & they have drinks!! I came here for the first time with my mom & my 3 yr old daughter. When we first came in, the guy that seated us didn't seem too friendly, but he wasn't really rude either. once we sat down, the waitress came over & she was extremely friendly & helpful. I am definitely a fan & will probably become a regular. I can't wait to try their drinks!

Deceivingly baren on the outside, but a rather classy place for downtown-ish Hayward. I've enjoyed their Americanized Chinese flavors on two occasions and was mildly impressed both times. I ordered from their specials menus both times which offered spicy seafood and vegetarian chicken. I liked the bold flavors of the spicy seafood, but didn't appreciate the flecks of beef sprinkled about the scallopy wonderland. The veg chicken was ok, but I would not attempt such a feat again from this establishment (a conundrum of salty yet flavorless tongue shaped protein slabs left me asking, "why...?"). I'd like to know their specials menu before I enter the restaurant, but until I can work out the kinks on this time machine, I'm stuck with stabbing in the aquarium-illuminated dark for a good Chinese dish.

Unlike restaurants in SF, these places , in the 'burbs have to hustle for the few dollars that will be spent going out, and it shows, A+ service Nice decor, roomy and food was good, and large portions to boot. Next time I'm in Hayward buying crack and hookers, I may stop here after the car jacking

Chef's is the PF Chang's of Hayward. I am not a fan of 'authentic' Chinese food. I LOVE 'Americanized' Chinese food. It tastes better to me so whatev. I've only been here for dinner. I like the decor inside, it is not expected from looking at the outside. This is a good date spot. The waitstaff is very attentive and nice. I've eaten here twice now and was pleased both times. This last time, we ordered the Spicy dry fried calamari, Vegetarian Chicken and something else (that I guess wasn't that memorable). The calamari wasn't spicy, but I have a decent tolerance for spice. The 'chicken' was good, but it's more moist than I remember chicken being. This dish was on their specials list so I don't know how long it will be served.

Best Chinese Food in Hayward. Everything I've tried, I've loved. I'm a vegetarian but I eat seafood. For those dishes with meat, I can just substitute it with tofu or shrimp. Like tofu lettuce wraps instead of chicken. My favorites are the Spicy Mango Shrimp, Shrimp Chow Fun with sezchuan sauce, Malaysian Spicy Fried Rice, Shrimp Dumplings, Vegetable Pot Stickers/Dumplings, Spring Rolls, Sizzling Salmon Fillet, Hot braised Salmon, Salt and Pepper Sea Bass/Shrimp/Tofu, Dry Fried Calamari, Dry Fried String Beans, Vegetable Fried Rice, Crab Wontons, Sizzling Rice Soup, Hot and Spicy Sizzling Shrimp, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Sizzling Tofu, Ma Po Tofu, Mongolian Shrimp, Eggplant Chow Mein, Egg and Onion Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Shrimp/Fish, Basil Eggplant Tofu with Shrimp, Basil Shrimp/Fish, Kung Pao Shrimp and the Sezchuan Shrimp. My boyfriend likes the Sesame Chicken, Sizzling Rib Eye Steak Platter and the Red Sauced Wontons, but he's not very experimental. My favorite desserts are the Chocolate Truffle (there's chocolate gelato in the center), the Chocolate Praline Cake (it tastes exactly like the golden ferrero rocher chocolates), the Mango Pudding (it's made there at the restaurant and it's not too sweet) and the Crispy Rolls with Greent Tea Ice Cream (there's delicious custard inside). They also have a full cocktail bar, and their drinks are delicious. My favorites are the Cadillac Margarita made with Patron, the Zombie, the Perfect Lemon Drop and the Flaming Volcano (it's a HUGE drink and they light up the middle with 151 rum). There will be a Happy Hour starting soon. Cheap Drinks and some appetizers at the bar. I eat there five days a week, so it's hard choosing between all the things I love. The staff is also amazing. Everyone helpful and professional. I can't say enough great things about this place. One last thing to mention about another review below, the Spicy Basil Clams have been back on the menu for months now. They're yummy.

Never again. The website says open until 10:00 but they turn you away at 9:25. Doesn't help to be lost in the maze of the street re-design of downtown Hayward. No pity from the servers however, they just turn away and continue to eat their dinner at the bar. Have spent a lot of money here for years, coming all the way from Fremont. No more.

We had my sons Baptism party at this restaraunt last Sunday. Food was terrific as usual but what really stood out was the service. Eddy (owner) was on top of everything. Very accommodating. We had a party of fifty in their very nice/private banquet room. Food was served at each table at the same time. Guests didn't have to watch others eat while waiting for their dishes to come. Glasses were always kept full. And when late arrivals (non RSVP) came, Eddy prepared extra dishes at no extra cost. I was worried at first but all I had to do was look up and Eddy was there to assure me he'd take care of all of them. I tell ya you can find good Chinese food but most all places the service is mediocre at best. This place rates high above the rest. The bill came out to $947 including tax and gratituity. I bumped it to an even grand. Later on that night we opened our sons gifts. Our generous family and friends gave us $900 in cash and checks and enough clothes (extra big) to last him him the next two years. All in all, thank you Chefs Experience for helping us have the best Baptism celebration possible!

Service - 4 stars Food - 3 stars Dining room/bathroom clenlisness - 0 stars First time eating here and won't go back until they do a thorough top to bottom cleaning of their restaurant. Why are so many asain restaurants so dirty? With the higher prices they charge here, you'd think they could afford a proper cleaning crew - maybe they spent it all on their new exterior facade. Service very good, but our dinner came out 2 minutes after our appetizers. yes, full bar and decent beer selection. Food very tasty but the 4 dishes we tried were all really greasy, nonfried items too. The salt and pepper sea bass could have been cod and was very fishy. Husband liked it ok but at $16.95 it's pretty expensive fish and chips with no chips! Eggplant tofu dish super flavorful but greasy. Lettuce wraps pretty good, least greasy of all. The shrimp shar-moo (?) Bland. Too bad, been tryimg to find a decent Chinese place in Hayward for years. Need more? The walls of the restaurant have small dustbunnies all over them from their hvac vents, we were waiting for the dust to fall in to our food. The bench seats are stained plus dirty from the dust mentioned prior. Both the men's and women's bathroom doors look disgusting. IF they are clean, they need a good coat of paint. The women's room was filthy - not a busy nite when there either. The little wastebasket next to the toilet was stained, dusty and filthy. It's just a cheap white plastic thing from a discount store. If you're not going to clean it, at least get a black one to hide the dirt. We did not use the men's room. I'd be afraid to see the kitchen, although one could hope that is the only clean place since it shoud be cleaned up at least at the end of the day. I don't know how these places keep their health inspections above passing.

My coworkers took me here today for a birthday lunch. I had the walnut shrimp with rice it was delicious! We also got pork mushu mushu , and chicken with green beans. Everything was very flavorful and good. Not too oily and ok portions. Its a little pricey but its a very nice restaurant. They have a very nice bar but I have not been able to have a drink during work hours yet hehe. Since my coworkers are such dorks they told them it was my bday so they brought out a mango pudding thing with raspberry sauce with a candle.. it was cute. the mango pudding was very light and perfect on even a full stomach.

We had the opportunity to catch up with cousins last evening for an early dinner at Chef's Experience, as it had been recommended by our Birthday girl. Wonderful when you have a restaurant with off street parking, so kudos for this. If you are coming from a westerly or northern direction and land on Foothill, though, be sure to take the left at City Center or at Russell Way, because you have no left turn options for 119 million miles, folks. Or get into a right lane and go around the block to face A street and then turn left into the parking lot behind the restaurant. I am not thrilled with left turns into the A Street crowd at dinnertime, for they are determined to get through and I am hungry.... the battle begins.... Once inside we saw a great fun dining room. Since we arrived at Senior Citizen hour, 4:15pm on a Tuesday, it was quiet still but the people came in and by the time we finished our dinner, it was buzzing with early evening activity. The meals tried were the Mongolian beef, which Birthday Girl always eats there, and she commented that it was great. Those of us who don't choose beef had brown rice or white rice with Tofu and Vegetables, in a great sauce, and the wonderful Sizzling salmon which had onions and excellent seasoning. We did not partake of anything from the bar. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and the little birthday mango pudding with raspberry sauce was nice with a candle. Very tasty when we removed the candle, too!! My teeny tiny commentary, in case anyone is reading from the management, is that I do understand that cleaning has to go on when the restaurant is quiet, but the smell of cleaning chemicals such as Lysol or stronger hit us at the back door when we got there and again when we left 2 hours later. One of the bus boys was also cleaning a table near us, and he had the grace to open the door to the street for ventilation, but it was visible to us and not too appealing to see a bucket of liquid and the whole action. Now you know me: I have been a waitress, worked counter jobs, worked as a nurse, done all sorts of jobs, and I know that people have to capture time to clean when they can. But to me, since the food has such delicate seasoning (and it was good!) the preference would be to signal anyone doing a really deep cleaning that once customers come in, to ditch the bucket and the smells and wait til later on. I tend to prefer non-chemical cleaners at home and I know that chemicals tend to stay in your lungs unlike bacteria which leave after a while. It is not helpful for your staff to breathe in this stuff (doors had been closed when we entered). If I were manager I would 1) protect my staff from exposures such as this on a repeated basis 2) shield my patrons from sniffing cleaners while they eat the food and 3) use other cleaning products (nontoxic or smelly or baking soda etc). So environmentally I did not feel the love here, but I did like the place. I would be more than happy to give this restaurant a chance again but only if I could eat without the Lysol enhancements :-D

The best Chinese food I've ever eaten anywhere! Must try the War WonTon soup, combination fried rice, and General Tso's chicken. I can taste it now, calling to order some... They don't deliver though but you can call your order in and pick it up. They are a little pricier than most Chinese restaurants but it's well worth every cent! Absolutely delicious.

Yesterday, my BFF and I ate lunch at Chef's Experience. I'd heard good things about it from people at work, and she'd heard good things about it from her friends, so off we went. Parking is in the rear of the building and so is the entrance. It was a bit odd entering the building at the end of the hallway that is also the restroom access but when in Rome... My friend's 16 month old was enthralled with the fish tank, so they sat us right next to it. That definitely helped keep the toddler calm. Along the walls is bench seating, which everyone by now knows I really dislike. Since we were at the tail end of the lunch hour we were pretty private so it wasn't much of an issue. We were also near the bar. If it were dinner time, I might have ordered a drink but it didn't seem right at lunch. We ordered two lunch entrees (Walnut Shrimp, and Basil Shrimp and Chicken) and the Crab wonton appetizer. We also had jasmine tea. The tea was fragrant. It didn't get bitter like some teas do after a while. They kept the teapot and our water glasses full the entire time. The crab wontons were tasty. The wrapper was a beautiful, crispy golden brown. The filling was creamy. A great blend of textures and flavors. The walnut shrimp was a little soggy but not overly sweet. In spite of the sogginess I really liked it. The 16 month old liked it too... so much that she shoved half a prawn in her mouth and almost choked! Normally she's good about biting things instead of shoving the whole thing in, but not this time! The basil shrimp and chicken was very tasty. It included green beans, onions, and bell peppers. The basil flavor wasn't overwhelming. I'd definitely eat here again. There were lots of things on the menu I wanted to try, but just didn't have the stomach space for. Just as a warning: the food is a bit pricey and it's definitely Americanized. But still - try it out!

We had heard good things about this place from family and friends. The restaurant was busy, always a good sign. There appeared to be some regulars eating at the bar, and some groups of ladies there for a girls nite out. I would highly recommend the calimari appetizer--it is fried, but not too chewy, although it still has a bit of tooth to it. A caveat: on the second visit, the dish was not cooked as well as the first. Good range of vegetarian entrees, as well. Tableside presentations of duck carving were well executed and impressive.

I love it. I love it. What can I say~! They have really good secret cooking method especially in making their steam seabass. The seabass gives you that juicy feeling that you could not resist. This dish is about $20 but who cares since I can't do it myself. The other one that I like is there cheese wonton and honey walnut shrimp. OMG, I just don't know how to describe. Another thing that I would like to mention is there dessert, bravo! Try them all if you can... They have enough parking at the back. It's a definitely MUST try place.

I'd like to give this restaurant 1 star, but when I had eaten there years ago there was a waitress named Rose who was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately she did not do the cooking. A couple of things: In their "Vegetarian" section, listed in one of the dishes, Braised Bean Tofu, it is cooked in oyster sauce. Hello folks, vegetarians DO NOT eat oysters OR their body fluids. Oysters belong to the animal kingdom. That being said, it is not the main reason for my review. Ever have a favorite eatery where there is at least one dish that you especially go there for? Well, the first time I ate there I enjoyed my dish so much that, the next time I went, I ordered it again remembering how tasty it was. I ordered the same dish as the time before, but it came to me tasting way different and even had different ingredients than listed in the menu. I wasn't happy, but I ate it. The next time we went and I ordered the same dish again, I thought the time before was certainly a fluke, but it happened again. This time the 8 dollar dish had diced carrots and zucchini and white, raw tofu in a hot sauce. It looked like someone had already eaten it and brought it back up. Sorry, but true. I told the waiter that I wasn't eating it and certainly wasn't paying 8 dollars for such a dish. They took it back and my mom and I shared her dish and just got extra brown rice. When I asked them why the dishes weren't consistent the excuse was that it depended on who happened to be cooking on any given day. I always thought there was some kind of kitchen recipe for any given cook to follow for consistency. Whatever. I do plan on giving them another chance though because, as I checked their latest menu online I saw they have added new vegetarian dishes and I believe they still offer whole grain "brown" rice. Look for my vindication or denunciation review in the near future. Thanx for reading.

3.5 to be exact. I was pleasantly surprised that this hole-in-the-wall place actually had some nice decor inside. +1 star Waiter seated us promptly and gave us refreshments. +1 star Food came out quickly and was hot +1 Food was good enough for me to be pleased. + 0.5 I wasn't really crazy about this place. The prawns were good, the rice was good, but I've tasted better, and it's one of the places in Hayward that is actually a bit more pricey for it's cuisine. But not bad. I'd go to Chef's any day, but only if I am paid. Being a student, this is like a once-a-month-if-i'm-feeling-it kind of place for me. My friends like it a lot, and I'm okay with the place, so like the Terminator, " I'll be back"

We've eaten here a couple of times. I'm very picky with Chinese food. I don't eat it that often so when I do, it better have flavor. Personally, I really like this place. They have really good selections and they are yummy! The inside was surprisingly nicer than what you may have thought just from driving past it. They were also nice enough to let us pick our spot since our son was in a stroller asleep one time. We will definitely go here again!

This place is not a PF Chang's knockoff imo. Its kind of frustrating to read the comparison. To me, that's a simple cop-out. I digress. The restaurant is stunning and comfortable. Despite being constantly busy it never seems to get too loud. Something about the tranquil pond perhaps adds a certain feng shui to the environment. Prices are more expensive than the average restaurant but I credit this place with being extremely cleanly, having great service and overall amazing food that it doesn't bother me. Presentation with their sampler dish was caught my eye as well. My favorite dish of theirs is the shrimp dumpling appetizer. It is is stuffed with pure deliciousness (what the menu lists as bamboo shots). Other than that I go here because I can get classic Chinese dishes slightly modernized for my American tastes buds. Most people think that is not a good thing. No use of MSG and less grease than other places I have had is what I would call it. I have tried various other local chinese spots but none really compare to this place. I always come back because I am willing to pay more for the high quality.

My new favorite Chinese in the Hayward area. We go there often and I always have the Lychee Martini - so good. And we generally share a few dishes. Last night - Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Wok Scallop and Beef and the Honey Walnut Prawns. Everything was AWESOME. Comes with white and/or brown rice. Will be back again soon.

We dined here to test it out as a potential wedding reception venue, going with the idea of Chinese but not hella fobby or old school. To be straightforward about it, this is not a Chinese person's Chinese restaurant. The menu is generic and very Americanized. They don't give you a pot of tea when you sit down. The food is too greasy and the flavors aren't right. The prices are almost double what they should be. All the floor staff are non-Chinese. You enter through the back and pass the restrooms before getting into the restaurant, weird and kind of gross. All that being said, the interior itself is beautiful. So, if you are uncomfortable in real Chinese restaurants and don't really care about how the food tastes anyway, give it a shot. But don't try to bring Paw Paw here, you won't hear the end of it. No amount of interior design skills is gonna make this place shine when the basic component of cooking right is not mastered. In the end, I would be embarassed to have my reception here.

This place is like a PF Chang's knock off, scaled down to an independent business. You enter through the back door (where the parking lot is) and pass the restrooms before reaching the hostess. That turned me off. The staff is multicultural and the menu doesn't have Chinese characters on it. No complementary pot of tea. The decor however is very nice and the dining room is a lot larger than I thought it would be. Chef Experience also has a full size bar and mixes up some good drinks. The food itself is hit or miss. I think a majority of their dishes are just ordinary, but some of their selections are good. This is what my friends and I tried: Won Ton Soup - If all the entrees are served family style, why aren't the soups? If you don't like mushrooms, don't get the won ton soup. They serve the soup with button mushroom in the broth and you can taste black mushroom in the won ton. Nothing special about the broth, tastes like Swanson's to me. Potstickers - They take the dumplings from metal dim sum steamers and fry them at your table side (is this the Chef's Experience?). The server didn't really brown them enough for my taste but you can tell your server to make them extra crispy if you like. The filling had a lot of chives in it. Lemon Chicken - Not my choice of entrée but my friends like to stick with the staples, they're scurred of the unknown. It's fried chicken pieces coated with a sweet lemon sauce. Not tart enough but you can taste the lemon. Double Pan Fried Noodles - (HK Style Chow Mein) we opted for BBQ Pork. It was served in a mini wok with mustard greens and black mushrooms. The noodles weren't crispy like the traditional style but it was very flavorful and tasty. Not too salty and not bland. I liked it a lot. Combo Seafood in Bird's Nest - "Is it really served in a fried noodle nest?" I asked the server. "Yup, it sure is." This is probably one of the more authentic dishes. The seafood was nice but the noodle nest was a bit on the stale side. Pork with Spicy Garlic Sauce - It wasn't what I was expecting. It's shredded pork with shredded vegetables and the garlic sauce wasn't spicy. Steamed White Rice - complimentary! I would have opted for the brown rice had I known. I saw other patrons dining on brown rice. Zombie cocktail - three kinds of rum, juice, and other kinds of liqueur. Pretty tasty. Chocolate truffle - hazelnut gelato, chocolate gelato, and cocoa powder. Yummy dessert. Overall, if you're hardcore Chinese and looking for authentic cuisine, you probably won't like this place. If you are a yuppie and like dine at trendy, chic, places, you'll probably like Chef's Experience. I will probably go back and try other dishes.

Didn't feel much like a Chinese cuisine but nonetheless, the food was yummy. They serve this one drink with fire on it...good to get and share with friends.

I was pleasantly surprised with the inside of this restaurant; I wasn't expecting the charming interior at all! Especially being a restaurant in Hayward & off of Foothill. They've put a lot of effort in the ambiance of your dining experience and it pays off! The one star reduction goes for our waitress who was hard to get a hold of at times, for refills on water. Also, if one of us asked for something she would automatically assume the other would too! The dish prices are reasonable, from around $8-12 dollars. I went with a friend and we ordered: Veggie Pot stickers (fried table side, which is pretty cool), Eggplant Chow Mein (not as spicy as they claim), and Vegetable Fried Rice. The portions of the dishes are very generous and there's definitely enough for left over's! With an addition of 2 beers out meal totaled $33! :) They also have a full bar with plasma screen and it seems like a good stop for after work drinks and bites. I happened to be there the night of Game 4 in the playoffs and the crowd was pretty amusing! Great places for dates or family dining!

New rule for me - every time I review a restaurant, I will state my ethnicity, so people can gauge the quality of a review based on my experience. I'm Italian - American. I had dinner at this restaurant yesterday and found the food to be very good based on my palate. Is it authentic, I have no idea (probably not). Does it taste good? Yes. I dislike walnut shrimp, but the walnut shrimp here is very good. Crunchy, slightly sweet and not heaped with tons of mayonaise-like sause. I tasted the kung pao chicken, tasty. The only negative would be the chow fun, but I'm not a huge fan of that dish anyway. The chicken in lettuce wraps were quite good...loved the cold, warm, salty, tasty crunchy texture. The fried rice was not greasy, nor totally brown from tons of soy sauce. The beef in the dishes that were served at our table was tender and not like chewing on shoe leather. Would I eat here again-yes. From now on, every time I eat at one of the awful pseudo Italian restaurants in the Bay Area, I'm going to gig the place based on no Italians or Italian Americans working there. I dare to say, most Italian restaurants will fail miserably based on that sigle criterion. If I don't see Guido or Giada, no mangia for me. So people, review the restaurant on food quality not on the ethnicity of their staff. What does that have to do with anything? Especially in a big restaurant.

I agree with the other posts, not much to look at from the outside, but very nice interior. very classy. Brown rice is a nice option, the potstickers are heated right next to your table. The garlic calamari appetizer is incredible. Service is attentive. I could go on & on...

The atmostphere is nice... open, clean and comfortable with a decent bar and nice waterfall at the entrance. It was a little loud, but not terribly. Our server, Rose, was stellar. Very sweet and helpful. The crab wontons were very yummy. We ordered three dishes from the Chef's Specials. The Ahi special was cooked to perfection but had an unusual maple taste to the sauce... I loved it, my husband did not. The black bean asparagus was good, and we both thought the salt and pepper fish was good but we've had better. When we left at 7:30 on Saturday night, there were still some tables available. This is always a deciding factor for us on weekends, as we hate to wait! Slightly on the pricey side for Chinese food. We'll be back, and I'll update my Yelp when we do.

The restaurant has a PF Changs feel to it, but the food was not as good. Don't get me wrong the food was OK, just nothing to write home to mom about. They have a great lunch menu I had honey walnut prawns and my friend had almond chicken. The portion sizes were pretty good, and the price was reasonable, $17.00 for both of us. The food came out quickly, but at times I felt like the waitress forgot about us. I had to go find her to ask for a refill of water and for some soy sauce. Other then that the place was cool, Id definitely have lunch here again. The place deserves 3.5 stars.

Talk about a great find. Ok.. so once you can get past the fact that the entrance to the place is in the back and at the entrance there is a mouse trap in the fountain... lol.. No really, I didnt notice the mouse trap until I had already eaten. So I met a friend for lunch a few weeks back and we came up on this place. It turned out to be pretty darn nice on the inside and the food was really good. They served me quickly and although my daughter was a little antsy, they were very sweet to her too. Its definitely one of those places that I would return to if I had a taste for Chinese.

I was talking to my sister one night and after discussing what needed to be discussed she asked me if I had eaten dinner yet and if I was hungry. No dinner, sister. Yes, I'm hungry. She said she was given a gift certificate for some Chinese restaurant on Foothill and we should go. Cool, I'm in. She didn't say the name of it, but I had a feeling it was gonna be this place. Turns out I was right. We went in the middle of the week and it wasn't too crowded. Right off the bat, I'm looking for my fellow Chinese peeps....don't see any. Hmmm....other patrons of the restaurant were not Asian. Hmm...okay, so we ordered and had the Mongolian Beef and Honey Walnut Prawns. Boy, talk about being pleasantly surprised. The food tasted great!! Friendly service. Clean restaurant. Great tasting food. And it wasn't crowded or loud. The prices were kinda pricey. But it's great to know that there's a decent Chinese restaurant here in Hayward. I'll most likely come back here and try other dishes. Oh, and on the way out, I spotted my fellow Chinese folks cooking it up in the kitchen. Right on!!

Disregard the tantalizing picture of clams for this profile, they discontinued the dish. Also don't order the oyster on their menu, surprise...discontinued also. This place is a TOTAL bite off of PF Chang! Down to the format of the menu! I dislike biters of any kind and this place failed to convenience me otherwise. Food is a total rip off and like other yelpers have noticed, all non Asian diners. We were the only table that were Asian...um...bad sign. But we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. If you are here due to uncontrollable forces, the Sea Bass is good and the manager is nice enough to come and pay his respects. Service was pleasant but somewhat slow. FYI, the door on Foothill is the back door. They have parking in the back and it is there that you find the front entrance. Not pleasing also to have the foul smelling trash area right next to the entrance either...bad decision!

I remember when this place was an old, dark Chinese restaurant. Now, it bright and well designed. It sort of looks like a PF Chang's, but with a little bit more "authentic" cooking. First, it is reasonably priced. They also do give a lot for the price, which is good. The menu consist of your usual Chinese restaurant staples (chow mien, sweet & sour pork, fried rice). But they do also have some specialties that are worth trying. Service is good and the place is big enough for large groups. The parking lot is located in the back, so it's more likely that you'll pass through the back door than the front. Just don't mind it. The food will make up for it.

Great American influenced Chinese food that isn't greasy. The prices aren't bad either. You would never expect such a nice interior since the outside doesn't look so great. Inside is quiet and the lights are dimmed, large inside so you don't feel crowded. The staff is very friendly and the food usually comes out quickly. The restaurant is good for groups and for couples...great date place =). p.s. try parking in the back instead of the front

The best chinese restraunt hands down. Loved it so much, we had our sons birthday here any they were very helpful. Can't go wrong eating here. Its a true hidden jewel. From the outside, it looks like just another adverage place, but once inside, it's very nice. Perfect Date night spot.

Hmm.. how do I put this? It's tasty, but not fabulous It's good, but not delicious It's pleasant, but not savory It's appetizing, but not delectable. This place is another frequent outting for me and the bossman. He loves this place almost as much as he loves Asian women (and trust me, that's a lot) I've had good and bad dishes, but always good service. I like the hot & sour soup and the mango shrimp. I've tried some fishy basil dish that I wouldn't personally order, but, if you're into that, the fish was very tender. They put that bok choy crap in everything so, if you hate it as much as I do, ask about it. The interior of this place is really nice. I have to give em props for the tasteful decor and pleasant atmosphere. They have tasty looking mixed drinks here made from fresh fruits. I'll have to come back on my own dime for those...maybe.

Yum! This place is way better inside than you would think, judging from the exterior. Very cool place to have a nice dinner. Delicious food and full bar ~ try the Lychee Martini! this place is fantastic... period! the ambiance, the food [quality] and the service. the prices are typical, Chinese Restaurant prices - a little pricey but it is expected and worth it. Quality food; nothing tastes frozen/thawed, the prawns are FRESH and the veggies are crisp. we have been regulars here for years. we love the El Cerrito one too :-) 5 Stars.

Ok so I was so freakin' sick just recently...my throat was sore, I had a headache out of this world and a fever to match and the only thing I could possibly think about keeping in my stomach was some soup...SOOO I was craving some wonton soup as we all know is quite delicious..I sought out the nearest Chinese food restaurant still open as it was getting late which is when I stumbled on this place and boy am I glad I did...they have the War Wonton soup that is to die for..the broth is flavorful and not to mention it comes with chicken, beef, shrimp, pork and scallops.. Didn't I say it was to die for people...they're very friendly there and are very speedy with getting your food to you...I do want to warn you the soup is a little pricey but I say it's worth every penny!!!! Sheesh writing this review makes me want to phone in an order NOW!!!

We arrived and placed an order to go. We sat at the full bar while we waited. The overall atmosphere was subtle and calm. The drinks were fairly reasonable, but alcohol is never cheap. When we arrived home the food looked like buffet quality food. If I had wanted buffet food, I would have gone to one. I sure as hell wouldn't have taken a female to eat sub-standard food on a Friday night! Aside from the quality of the food, it was extremely overpriced for what you actually get. I won't be back any time soon.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The quality of the food has decreased tremendously from a few years ago. Tonight, their shrimp and vegetable fried rice gave me food poisoning. Stay away.

Parking lot is roomy, but the food and service is AMAZING!! I'm pure blood Chinese and this is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to. I just went to this restaurant after finding it on yelp. The place looks much nicer inside than inside (looks deserted and plane but inside is another story!). I went with my family who were skeptical about me choosing this place (I guess they never trust me with choosing things for the family) but my family were completely blown away! My father loves the interior decor and the cleanness. My brother (who loves American food and is tired of always having to eat Chinese food) loves the food. We order alot of Mongolian dishes and the meat are so juicy and tender. We had the spinach garlic which isn't salty and very tender, the bird's nest with broccoli and scallop, egg plants with tofu, wok Mongolian steak and scallop, broccoli and beef chow fan, and a few other plates and they were all so yummy! Even my grandma who is very traditional Chinese woman from Guan Zhou China praise the food, and that is very rare. Although the place is more like a Americanized Chinese food, the food is very authentic that I'm sure friends and family would enjoy. And we got our food super fast! The also have a full bar, a nice large aquarium and small pond with alot of nice touches. Not something you would normally find in a Chinese bistro. Our server, Miguel, was the best! Very considerate, friendly, and enthusiastic! Always keep our cups full. My only concern is that they serve our soup after our appetizers and main entry (usually we get the soup first). But the food is great, wonderful atmosphere, and great service. My family will come back here for dinner again very soon!

When I first moved to Hayward I was looking for a place that I could have good Chinese food. You enter this place through the door backing up to the parking lot. You walk down a hall way past the bathrooms ... and then you see this fabulous place with colorful walls, lighted bar and fun fish tank. The food is delicious although slightly over priced :-/ the service is just OK especially since I've never been in there when there are more than five tables in the place. I love the vegetable pot stickers I get them every time and their chow mien has thick noodles that I've yet to find better at any other restaurant. All in all I give it 3.5 stars good food, good ambiance, OK service.

  • Sam S.

Kellie T. and I have been here a few times, and the only word I can think of to describe this place is alright. I've never had an excellent meal here, but they've all been alright. We usually get the pot stickers as an appetizer, and they've never disappointed. I wasn't too impressed with the Ma Po tofu, the tofu wasn't fried, and it was more soupy than anything. The cashew chicken, and chicken fried rice aren't bad, but there never fails to be quite a few fatty pieces in there.

I used to drive by this place for years and was never quite sure what was inside until my friend took me here to get some margaritas and chinese food (the combo actually works!). The food is good - a lot like PF Chang's. Portions are generous (two people could easily split an appetizer and a main course). They have a full bar which makes a variety of interesting drinks along with your standard ones. Love the lettuce wraps here! Wait staff is friendly and the service is fast.

I enjoy chinese food and I always drive to SF to get my fill when I get a craving. Bad weather and not wanting to drive all the way to SF got me to try out this place. The interior is very unexpected - well decorated for hayward and I sort of like the big fish tank ..great for kids to stare at. Looking at the menu I saw a lamb dish which is usually very hard for me to find. I ordered the Mongolian Lamb, egg flower soup, and honey walnut prawns. The lamb was really good, my egg flower soup could have been better and the prawns were good as well. I really liked my drink - glad they have a full bar. I'll be back again to try other items I saw on the menu and the servers are really friendly as is most of the staff. For hayward this is really good chinese food.

We went here for Mothers Day lunch. It is one of my mom's favorites. We had the mongolian beef, orange peel chicken, mixed vegitables and wor wonton, oh my! Everything was fantastic,no wonder my mom likes it so much. By-the way, the service was great, what with the big crowd on Mothers Day and all. Andrea took our order without writing it down, I always love that.

  • ELAINE R.

This place has excellent food. The sampler, chow fun, walnut prawns, and mongolian beef never fail. Ambience is nice. The dining room is large and they section their seats well, unless it's for a huge party of 30, then it can get pretty squeezed. The drinks can be made a little stiffer and the service speedier hence the missing one star but I love the food here. And it seems pretty clean unlike other chinese restaurants. I always have a great experience here. Oh yeah - I'm not American and I'm not Chinese but I don't think it's "Americanized Chinese Food". Thank goodness their food doesn't have all the other weird flavors that other chinese restaurants use that I don't like.

I ordered a half tray "Spring egg rolls" but I don't know why they called it Spring egg rolls. Their Spring rolls is fried serve in sweet and sour sauce. In our chinese style, Spring rolls is usually not fry but it is soft clear white with shrimp, veggie and white noodle serve in peanut sauce. Anywho, everyone love their "Spring fried egg rolls" at the party. I also ordered myself some crispy salmon spring rolls. All I gotta say, their fried egg rolls is the bomb. Next party event, I will order another tray of "spring egg rolls" BTW, the host she is awesome, friendly and a cute smile.

The quality of the food isn't as good as it used to be, and I'm bummed they changed their delicious iced tea to a new brand that tastes like a tin can ... but it's still really the only place around to get some decent Chinese food in a nice atmosphere. The only problem is that it is WAY too expensive - especially for the small portions they serve!

    (3)
  • Patrick R.

I had higher expectations for this place after reading the reviews. Previous reviewers spoke about how nice the decor is; my opinion, so-so. The service was attentive and polite, but of the four people who'd come to the table, only the young lady who offered to box up our leftovers, seemed truly professional. The food was cheap ingredients decently prepared and nicely presented. The seafood birds nest came with basa, a very cheap catfish type fish from Vietnam, tasteless scallops that were most likely skate wings and a few small prawns that were so-so on the quality scale. Coconut vegetables were ok but didn't have much of the coconut milk flavor I've come to love in other Asian restaurants.

  • John D.

The food there is great, I loved it there, but the cost was not so great...as for the service, it is the best... There is also a Chefs restaurant in Milpitas...DO NOT GO THERE....at night...great service but the food.. was awful... they gave you a very little amount...for the price of 3. I order 2 lb. of prawn shrimp it cost me $ 98.00 and when it came out with only 10 shrimps on the plate, all they did was broil them and fry the head. I spent over $300.00 and ended up having to go to Mcdonald's, because of the miniature rations...

Loved their honey walnut shrimp, pot stickers and the duck fried vermicile (extra spicy)! Would love to try out their sampler appetizer bec it looks amazingly decorated, the scallop and steak, the HK steak and the lamb next time. O, also the fried rice =) Knocked off 1 star for the sloooow food coming out and pricey for Chinese food. Well, I guess you are paying for the atmosphere too and the quality.

Beauty is on the inside according to my mother. Well, she did live in Hayward for many years so she must have been talking about the Hayward restaurants. This is yet another great restaurant with a very plain, nondescript exterior. When you walk in, it is very nice, clean, crowded, but not too crowded. I had eaten the food before, but this was my first experience in the restaurant. The food was like no Chinese food I have had in Hayward...what words am I looking for...oh yes, not disgusting. To be more specific, everything was delicious. The pot stickers were fabulous, they even cook them at your table which seems really excessive, but a nice touch. We'll be back.

Amazing food and awesome staff....we come here a lot, but we have yet to be displeased with the experience. My favorite is the Singapore Noodles. Sometimes I will have them take out the chicken and shrip and sub in fried tofu and that is great too! The chicken dishes are awesome, the veggie dishes are delightful....it is pricier than your typical chinese take out, but it is totally worth it!

Excellent food, a bit too pricey for Chinese restaurant. If you're looking for an American influenced Chinese food in Hayward, then this would be the place (similar to PF Chang with a bit lesser price). The general Tsao chicken and Mongolian beef is excellent, and their Peking Duck is a hit and miss. The customer service is very good, and definitely recommend to get reservation during weekend.

    1. Los Compadres 2. Buffalo Bill's 3. London Fish & Chips 4. Chef's Experience China Bistro There are my 4 Hayward stops. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. Although I really don't eat Chinese food often, I really enjoy this restaurant. I love the crab stuffed won tons, the pork chow mein, and the house fried rice. The service is excellent and the interior is sweet. They are a little high priced though. Every time I've ordered take out for 3-4 people it's $50-$60. Pretty steep.

This spot is pretty good. I parked in the parking lot behind what you think would be the main entrance. The actual main entrance led you down a hall with bathrooms to your left, and then to a hostess stand. Very friendly hostess. The dining room was decent sized with a bar and bar stools. We sat in a booth. I ordered the Fried Won Tons as a starter. It was filled with some sort of cheese and served with a strawberry jam or puree. I thought it was the normal sweet and sour sauce typical Chinese restaurants serve. Not noticing the seeds, I tasted my won ton with the sauce. Hmmm? Definitely unique and surprise for sure. For our main course, we ordered the Honey Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice and String Beans. The String Beans were delicious, but the best was the Honey Sesame Chicken. Very good. It stayed crunchy in the sauce. The sesame was just a topper, for decoration only. We couldn't finish the dish so we took it home. I'm not one to eat left overs but the chicken was still good the day after. As for cocktails, my boyfriend has a Pomogranate Margarita. New to their menu. It was OK. And I had a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc, which I had to return because there was lipstick on my class. I could see the bar from my table so I'm glad to see that they poured me a new glass instead of taking the liquod from the lipstick-stained wine glass and pouring it into the new one. Our server was friendly. Patient when we weren't sure what we wanted to order. The staff is decked in black pants, white button up, long-sleeved shirt and a bow-tie. A nice place to dine in Hayward.

I like the quality of the meat here it's better than at other local chinese restaurants. We love their combo. chow mein and beef and vegetable dishes with fresh white rice. Last time I ordered it to go and the service was very fast. The inside of this restaurant is impressive. A very clean and modern chinese reastaurant with an impressive bar area. I like the water fountain I think it's soothing.

Chinese food has never tasted this good, EVER. No MSG food coma either. Don't let the outside fool you, walk in & you immediately forget you are in Hayward. The service is impeccable & the food outright outstanding. Chef's Bistro is a must try.

Pretty good food, and as near authentic as you can get for a bistro type restaurant. I actually like this place better than PF Changs, which is super over priced and not as many selections in terms of food. The portions are definitely in following with the bistro feel. So if you're hungry, definitely order an extra dish. I always get the fried calamari which is super light. It can get spicy depending on how many pepperes they decide to add. I love the small slices of toasted garlic mixed into the plate. I also get the steamed sea bass which is a pretty generous portion. It's super light also in a nice soy ginger sauce. I also make it a healthy meal by choosing brown rice over the white. Oh, and I also get the dried fried ribs, which is very similar to the fried calamari, but the seasoning is just soooo tasty. We eat here just about every other week!

Don't really have anything negative to say about this place... I've been here about 3 times now and i'm a committed Chef's Experience fan!!! Like alot of the other reviewers have said, its alot like PF Changs. The food is great- fresh and delicious! I've had excellent service there every time I've been, too. The only thing I'm not too hot on is the price...it's not too expensive, but its definitely not cheap either. But anyways back to the food: Love the dried fried string beans, hot & sour soup (not as thick and gelatinous as other chinese restaurants can make it), chef's spicy chicken, and the salt & pepper prawns! except I hate that they only give you like 8 prawns for $15. lol

I can't knock any restaurant in Hayward that has a full bar and is not a dive! I do not like that you have to walk past the bathrooms and the kitchen to get into the restaurant. They really need to use the street side door as the front door, but once you get past that it's nice inside and the food is good.

It was a sunday evening and I had a serious craving for wings, chinese style. So I dragged my husband to Chef's experience China Bistro and boy were we surprised. How many times had we driven past this place and never would have guessed what it was like on the inside. The restaurant had such a nice interior(for Hayward standards atleast),with ample seating and a nice fountain. The service was friendly and the food was absolutely yummy. We ordered: The veg spring rolls which were nice enough. The spicy garlic wings which were very well made and quite spicy , and The Singapore noodles that we asked to be made vegetarian with wide rice noodles instead of the egg noodles and they were incredible. The flavor was so delicate with just a hint of curry powder and the vegetables imparted a wonderful wholesomeness to the dish. I really enjoyed having dinner there and will certainly go back soon. ps: They also have a full bar and a long list of cocktails and not to forget a good selection of desserts .

The food is pretty good albeit sort of expensive. for like 3 plates we paid something like 50 bucks. The interior of the restaurant is really nice and they have a great bar as well. The tables and decor are very modern and the food is really fresh. Like i said just a tad expensive. not a place i'll eat all the time.

This place is every bit of wonderful. The food is yummy and I've always had a good experience with the staff. Portions and prices are decent, always enough for leftovers. I love the fact that they offer brown rice with their dishes. A couple of things worth recommending: 1) basil chicken and shrimp with brown rice and 2) chicken fried BROWN rice. Yum. :)

I think they're going for the PF Chang style. It doesn't have Chang's location or aesthetics, but the food was almost comparable, if not better. They had more "authentic" Chinese dishes, like the steamed fish with oyster sauce, Chinese broccoli, and mixed vegetables with bean curd. We made it in time for lunch and ordered the meal, family style. The sea bass was fresh, and the mixed vegetable dish was tasty. I'm impressed because they also serve brown rice. If you're looking for healthier Chinese food and want a more authentic taste, I'd hit this place over PF Chang's. Good find in Downtown Hayward.

I don't like Chinese food... or atleast I didn't before I got dragged to this place by my family last mother's day. Our waiter was a little strange... strange like too much pot in the 80's strange. But other than that, it was nice. Service was a little hectic, but having worked in the food buisness for so long before, I'm not going to complain when the resturaunt is packed with 30 people over it's Limit, and the waitresses are mother's too! This place looked good enough for me, the pickiest person in the entire world, to try a few things. Not bad at all.... and the desert was to die for! Vanilla ice-cream, with these wierd, fried-custard looking things...... Awesome place to eat. No MSG... which is great for Migrane sufferers, like myself!!!!! = )

Okay, the best Chinese restaurant of its type in the Bay Area. If you're looking for super authentic this is not the place. If instead you want classics with the freshest ingredients and wonderful taste try Chef's Experience China Bistro. You will be back. Great old school atmosphere, nice bar, and great people.

Diamond in the rough. Definitely the best chinese food i'v had in the hayward area. Food is great, portions are good, price is right, and they have a full bar. Service is also good, employees are very nice and friendly.

I love this place. Everyone is very nice. It reminds me of PF Changs. But the food here is better than PF Changs. I've had the Mango Chicken, chow fun, wonton soup, spicy pot stickers and sui mai, ( not at one time) and all was delish. I like how they ask if you want brown rice. This is the only place that does this. The price is kind of high. The food doesn't have too much oil like other places. I've been here for lunch and dinner. And all times and days of the week. I don't usually have to wait long. They also do take out. Oh and it's CLEAN. So are the bathrooms. I hate going to places where the bathrooms are not clean. Parking is ok. There is a parking lot by the front entrance. And also parking along Foothill.

Eh. I wish you could give a half a star but then the service was nice so I suppose they can keep the full fourth star. For the most part the ambiance was nice other than the super huge purple fabric donut thing hanging from the ceiling. My son kept calling it the purple hole and joked that someone could get sucked into it. He also noticed that there weren't any Asian people eating in the restuarant, which is usually a sign that the food is more the American Experience than a Chinese one as the name of the restuarant says. It's weird to hear an 8 year old pick that up but we've eaten at enough Asian places that I guess it's just common sense to him now. I do agree with Jessie B about the PF Changy-ness. The menu has some similar things that PF Chang's has so I suppose if you don't feel like driving all the way to Emeryville, this place is a pretty good substitute. It used to be a restuarant called Hunan Wok, a place I used to frequent all the time and in some ways it's kind of similar. They both had the sampler platter (pork ribs, foil wrapped chicken, spring rolls, etc) and they were served in almost the same fashion it made me wonder if they just bought the place and changed the name and the layout. The original entrance was on Foothill but now it's in back of the building. I even asked our server and she said it was owned by new people. We ordered the sampler, beef chow fun and sesame chicken. The entrees come with rice so it's nice not to have to pay extra for it. The sesame chicken kind of tasted like the honey walnut prawns I used to order from Hunan Wok. Hm. The beef chow fun was ok, but to me the best thing about beef chow fun is that it actually tastes better the next day. It's the beef that keeps on giving. Ulitmately Chef's is ok. If you're looking for PF Chang the sequel and not for authentic chinese food, it's the place to go. Dinner for 2 with appetizers and drinks (non alcohol) set us back $45 with tax and tip. At bit high for the every day but not too bad for a special occasion.

This place is great! Sandy, Nimia & I decided on dinner here Sunday night. I was in a soup mood and opted for the seafood & tofu soup, YUM! I'm pretty sure I stopped contributing to the conversation as soon as my soup arrived. I did add a nice sized tablespoon of chili sauce to my soup, which made it even better! Loads of shrimp, fish and scallops! One of my new favs. We tried their new pomegranate margarita, not my fav, but their drinks are always strong. Check it out if you haven't already.

This is the first time I have dined at this restaurant and it's damn good! Looking at it from the outside you would not think much but inside it's the nicest chinese restaurant I have ever been to. It's huge inside & the decor is nice, you even get cloth napkins. Getting to the eats, we had lemon chicken, pork fried rice, beef chow mein which was all very good. You must try the Happy Family dish which is fabulous. I don't know what they put in it but the flavor will make you want to go back. This dish has beef, chicken, pork, shrimp and vegetables all sauteed which comes out steaming (like fajitas would), it's alittle pricey $14 but it's well worth it. There was not one Chinese server in the place but that's ok because the food was great though she did mention the cooks are Chinese. Yup this is now my favorite American Chinese food restaurant.

Yesterday was my fist visit to this place, thanks to my date :) It was amazing! Food was great, large portions and friendly service. We were full from just eating our appetizers. We beat the dinner rush so there weren't that many people in the restaurant, and we received an excellent service. I would return here any day when I'm craving some gourmet Chinese food as opposed to something like panda express. Oh, and also their decoration is very cute inside! Lights, candles and wall decor are cute and romantic at the same time.

I don't know any place in Oakland with Chinese food of this quality (and brown rice), so I make all kinds of excuses to drive to Hayward and eat here. Yes, the prices are higher than your typical place, but this is nevertheless very good value. At lunch, smaller portions of some dishes are offered at slightly reduced prices. Unless you can't stand driving around with yummy smells filling your car, I recommend against these. We tend to over-order here, as the portions are large and the leftovers are great. They even topped off my rice for takeout, after the bill had been settled. I love their: - Hong Kong Style Beefsteak, - Pork with Spicy Garlic Sauce, - Mu Shu Pork, - Salt & Pepper Prawns, - Chicken with Asparagus in Black Bean Sauce, - Hot & Sour Soup, and - Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings. My kid raves about the Pork Buns and shares the yummy (if syrupy) Pork Spare Rib app with us. If you see Vermicelli noodles with spicy sauce on the specials menu, I highly recommend it. It's a rendition of Singapore Chow Mai Fun (sp?) among the best I've had (and that's saying something). I wouldn't get the oysters again, but then I'm no expert on cooked oysters. There are many things I have yet to try here, but my confidence increases with each visit. My family took me here for my birthday, and we enjoyed a reasonably priced bottle of Sonoma Cutrer 2005 Sonoma Coast with our meal. Clean restrooms and kid-friendly service complete the picture -- if only I could find more reasons to drag my family to Hayward!

I gave it a 3.5 stars. The Food: 1) Very disappointed that the clams and oyster was no longer available and its in the menu. If the restaurant did not post the pictures there, a yelper should remove it to avoid misleading folks. I was looking forward to these two dishes before I got there. 2) I liked many of their dishes with the exception of Mango Chicken. The stirred-fry Spanich from the vegetarin section would have been awesome if it wasn't overcooked. Its a nice dish if you like vegetables. 3) The following menu items were yummy- HK steak beef, peking sparerib, steamed bass, shrimp with asparcus, salt peppered shrimp and several more. 4) The decor was nice but lighting was a bit dim where I sat. 5) Minor issue: About the entrance, it would be nice to have the front entrance open. I saw many folks trying to go to the front door without knowing there's a parking lot in the back. 6) As for the price, its resonable considering the kind of establishment you are visiting. Nice to find another nice place to eat near downtown. I will go back again.

This place is great. At first I thought my date took me through the back entrance, and just to find out when we got in, it was the only entrance. LOL Not the typical chinese restaurants. Very nice set-up with a nice setting. I was impress because I thought this place probably cater to the american taste but it proved me wrong. I didn't hear anyone in the kitchen shouting in madarin or cantonese. hehehe Very authentic and professional with their service. Definitely will be coming back!

The food here is awesome! I love their pot stickers (and I'm not particularly a fan of these). The food it delicious..their fried rice, walnut prawns, chicken dishes (a lot of 'em!), veggie dishes (grand!) and can you believe they have a full bar??!! It's a nice atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. I have been there a few times and will continue to visit Chef's.

I can't say enough about this place. I love it! The food is good and so are the prices. I moved out of state a year ago and every time I come home to visit I make sure to stop in for dinner.

Wow, Ate here last night. It doesn't look like much from the out side, but once you are inside you feel like you are fine dining. Interior is beautifully designed and extremely clean. Menu pricing it 8-10 for appitizers, 10+ for entrees. They do have a lower pricing for lunch items, lunch is served till 4pm. Waiters were extremely nice and had good recommendations. We ordered the Sizzling rice soup, Orange Chicken and Eggplant chow mein. Everything was amazing. The Shrimp in the soup was some of the freshest shrimp I've had. The chicken was all white meat and tasted amazing. Can't wait to go back again.

Not sure if anybody remembers the Chinese restaurant that was there before Chef Experience (Hunan Wok) but it cannot compare. Hunan Wok was americanized but it still had an authentic feel and the waitstaff were Chinese who wore the traditional vest with bow tie uniforms. The food was amazing evertime and fairly priced I might even say underpriced for the portion size. Didn't the new owner learn anything from the previous. I feel that it has become a trendy place and it has hurt the quality of the food. All you trendy suckers don't know shit about true quality.

Great food and I thought the prices were reasonable. As someone had mentioned, it's reminiscent of PF Chang's. The service is excellent. It seemed that if we wanted something, anything, there was a waiter or waitress that just popped up before we could even flag someone down! The food is very fresh. And, if you can even be health conscious in a Chinese restaurant, they serve brown rice :-)

I love the sizzling rice soup as well as some other dishes. Like everyone else passing the restroom is a turn off. I generally always order take out. I have had an ocassion to eat in with a group of friends. Overall, it's a pretty good place to dine.

Really good food, the potstickers are amazing-cooked tableside. Honey walnut prawns were excellent. Great Wonton Soup. The waitress was super friendly and she provided outstanding service. Went 2 days in a row, because it was so good!

I think the food is delicious! I especially love the lettuce wraps, the salt and peper shrimp, the mongolian beef and the won ton soup. I have been there at least 20 times and the servers have always been courteous. One time when the wrong dish was brought to us, they quickly reordered the right dish and got it to us asap. The atmoshere is fine. I like the fact that they have tvs in the bar area on an important sports night,

When I want excellent Chinese food at a good price with GREAT service, a FULL BAR and an overall wonderful atmosphere, Chef's Experience is where I go. The owner, Eddie, is a great guy. And I always seem to get a great server. My favories are Rose, Pat and Lisa. But you really can't go wrong with the staff here. As for the food, you can always tell that it is fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. Check out some of my absolute favorites below: Appetizers: Crab Wontons - Mmmm! Pot Stickers - Cooked tableside Entrees: Honey Walnut Shrimp - Best I've had anywhere Basil Chicken and Shrimp Broccoli Beef - A classic P.S. their steamed brown rice might surprise you. I love it! Try it with your meal sometime.

The China Bistro took over the location that used to be our regular Chinese food restaurant, and made the place much nicer. Some of the food is really good (pot stickers cooked at your table), but the taste of other plates can be inconsistent. The servers are nice, and getting more professional. I hope this place makes some improvements 'cause I want to like it more.

I dont eat at PF Changs so I cant make the connection. I still dont know why yelp doesnt allow you half a star. This is def a 3.5 star place. We ordered family style and it went over well. The service was so so, for the prices it should be a little better. The atmosphere isn't all that great. I ordered the asparagus and shrimp which was actually pretty tasty.

Okay, if your hardcore Chinese, you might not like this place. If you prefer a staff that seems to hate you, waiters that ignore you, roaches that run wild in the kitchen, and dead animals that stare at you while they hang from the ceiling, don't go here. On the other hand, if you like saucy flavorful Mandarin-style food, a friendly staff, and decent prices, then this is your place.

  • Rodger L.

We have been eating at Chef's Experience for about 2 years and have always found the food to be excellent. One of the reasons we go to this restaurant and drive miles out of the way is the high quality of the ingredients and fair priced, generous portions.. Beef dishes in particular, have been fantastic quality. This place puts most Chinese restaurants to shame. However, we just had take out and the beef chow mien had very poor quality meat. Many chewy inedible pieces. The chicken fried rice had almost no chicken. What happened? Someone cut some corners to save on cost? We have loved this place but I would hate to see it go the way of so many Chinese restaurants that cut corners by using lousy quality ingredients. Hopefully, we just experienced a one time lapse. I would previously have given Chef's Experience 5 stars but not after our latest disappointing dinner. Hope they can get back to being a 5 star option for Chinese food.

    (3)
  • Manny E.

Probably the worse Chinese food I ever had. Maybe I was there on an off day? Ask for Hong Kong Style Noodle for the chow mien and was told did not what that was? I would have been better off going to Safeway for the food.

  • Drake B.

I've been here a couple of times and every time it has been very good. I usually get the chow fun which is very good because the noodles are stacked and cooked and seasoned perfectly. The general tsao's chicken has a lot of flavor and the pork fried rice and tons of pork. I get it for take out so I don't know how the service is but the inside looks nice and everyone seems friendly. It doesn't blow me away but it is still very good.

This is our favorite Chinese place, and, yes, very much in the PF Chang's mould. The first time we came I thought the food was just average, but we had unwittingly ordered almost ALL deep-fried stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love me some deep-fried, but not everything on the table! We got the "General Tso's" chicken the first time, which was really too sweet for me and not wonderful (it does say it comes with a "sweet Szechwan sauce" so I should've paid attention). The last time we went though, almost everything we ordered was fantastic. The vegetable spring rolls were, eh, ok, but Chef's Spicy Chicken, Singapore Noodles and Garlic Spinach were all VERY tasty. And the service was noticeably better than the first time we'd come. The only thing I'd really fault them on is the weird layout.. last time we were there, they'd stopped allowing people to enter through the front door on Foothill. So you enter through the back, which is where the parking lot is. This makes some sense, EXCEPT that the first thing you see when you walk in is a very industrial-looking set of bathroom doors, which, on the night we came, had one of those yellow wheeled "Piso Mojado" buckets parked by them with a mop. From there, you walk into the fairly classy (for Hayward) restaurant. Kind of like having someone poke you in the eye and then give you a massage. But yeah, being able to order brown rice is almost worth a star in itself, and my experience with this chef is MOSTLY really good.

    (4)
  • KJ P.

Great food. Did I say great? It is better than that! Wonderful flavorful food and some dishes are cooked at the table! Service is excellent. Even the bar has outstanding exotic flavored cocktails... and all this for reasonable prices. No where else has Chinese Food been elevated so well to a great dinning experience! Parking is easy too! Take out is possible, but with such great service, why would you not stop to eat in the pleasant surroundings. Hayward is catching up with great restaurants. This is one! Family friendly too!

  • Andrea M.

Downtown Hayward is actually getting cool places to eat. Enter this place, which we found thanks to Yelp. Had lunch mid-week; ordered a la carte - potstickers, fish, brown rice, it was very reminiscent of PF Chang's, using even the same font for the menus. There was definitely a broader range of choices here than PF Chang's, and the bar is really a show-stopper with all of the stone work; it's pretty to look at. I'd like to cruise by this place on a Friday or Saturday night and see if it gets more of a party atmosphere, because I think then I'd bring my friends for a night out without having to drive to another city. Good food, decent prices, I'll definitely go back.

  • Deborah P.

My friend and I have been to this restaurant many times, but last night was the worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant. After giving the waiter our coupons, which we received in the mail, he told us we could only use one per table; even though we spent twice as much as the coupon required and there were no limitations on the coupon. He told us "It is only common sense . . .that we would only use one coupon and not two" and "I will not stand here and argue with you" and alot of other rude comments. He wouldn't give us the manager or owner's information so we could contact them and we left very upset. The food might be good, but because the service is so demeaning, we know we will never go back there and will not recommend this restaurant to any of our friends.

First, I have to tell you that I am Chinese and I am quite picky on Chinese food because I am not a fan of american chinese food. I remembered the first time I went to Chef's Experience, I was kind of surprise the main entrance is located at the back of the packing lot. The exterior is not attractive at all. However, once I stepped into the restaurant, it is another part of the world. Very nice decoration with a big tank of salt water fish. Waiter and waitress are very professional and friendly. I ordered Walnut Shrimp and Beef Steak Hong Kong Style out of their lunch menu. The food is up the real chinese food standard. Big and crispy shrimp (description of shrimp. this is not a deep fried shrimp dish), the texture of the shrimp fill in my mouth and the juice from the shrimp can tell it cooked fresh and perfect. The Beef Steak Hong Kong Style is very good as well. I have to say that they cook the beef steak in a way that tender, juicy and with good mouth feel without any hint of baking soda taste. Honestly, not too many chinese restaurant can cook quality beef dish without over cook it and/or taste with baking soda. Most of the chinese restaurant will use baking soda to tenderize the beef which left the taste on the meat. They will use very strong sauce to try to cover up the baking soda taste. I took one star out because the set up of the restaurant. When you walk in the restaurant, you would pass by the restroom and kitchen before you hit the serving area.

We think it's better than PF Chang's! This is our fav chinese restaurant in the area. We love the food and although it is a bit pricy, the quality is worth it. Service is always great and we love a chinese place with a FULL BAR!

  • Christina V.

I love this place, definitely my favorite for Chinese food in the area. The atmosphere is great and the staff super friendly, sometimes can be a little slow but nothing terrible. What I really like is that the food isn't all greasy and the chicken and beef are always good quality..nothing knuckley. I also like that they have both brown and white steamed rice. I've tried many of the dishes here and am never disappointed. They have a great selection of appetizers and prepare several items table side like pot stickers and lettuce cups, it's a nice touch. They also have a great variety of hot teas and will blend flavors for you. But if you wanna get saucy the bar offers a wide variety and will not disappoint the alcoholic in you :) Last time I was there we ordered the chef special of Sea Bass, it was soft and perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce served with asparagus. Do try something from the specials when you go, we were glad we did! The only real con is that it's a bit more pricey than the average Chinese food place but it's definitely got quality and taste backing up the price.

A couple of years ago I'd have given this place 4 stars. I used to go all the time, and I've had some really good meals there. Hayward doesn't have many viable options, and this was definitely one of them. But the quality is too erratic. I've taken friends there for the first time, for lunch or dinner, and left mortified. I guess it depends who's doing the cooking that day. But sometimes it's really good and other times they just blow it. It's a shame, because if they could get their act together and make the product consistent, I'd be going regularly (it's not like Hayward offers many alternatives!) But I don't really go there anymore. I used to get a pretty big coupon in the mail regularly (like $15 off if you spend $40 or more), and they don't seem to come anymore, which is fine with me, because I'm pretty much over that place. Maybe if I get dragged there for a work lunch and it turns out to be a good day for them, it'll reawaken my former interest in the place. By the way, if it's a good day, I recommend the asparagus shrimp, which is prepared in a black bean sauce. It's a nice dish. I've tried to replicated it a few times at home, and mine's just as good (plus the quality's consistent). Oh by the way, avoid their wonton soup, which is flavorless. And choose the brown rice (it's nice that they give you a choice).

if you 'love' pf changs you will 'really like' this place. its close to the same fare for a reasonable price and good service. been back many times and will continue to go. since pf changs is a little further away, a little more expensive, and usually has a wait time (theres rarely a line here), we go to chefs experience a lot more often.

My grandmother had just been hospitalized. My family was all shaken, scattered brains and deep sighs. We had been sitting in the hospital waiting room for 3 hours, pending test results to come. My grandmother's condition stabilized, and we needed to get something to eat beyond the bottled water and Doritos from the hospital cafeteria. As a family, we decided to get chinese food. Chef's Experience as the sign says is a short drive from Eden Hospital in Castro Valley. It was formerly another Chinese restaurant called Hunan Wok. We went there for my high school graduation. We ordered soup, appetizers, 4 dishes, and tea. The soup and appetizers were less taylored to be family style than a typical chinese restaurant. Only 4 potstickers to an order. The waitress fries the potstickers in a pan in front of your table. The dumplings become very crispy . We also ordered red sauce wontons, softer dumplings made with chicken. The ginger and meat tasted fresh. Hot and sour soup was a bit on the thick and sweet side rather than peppery, but the bowl was full of meat and tofu. Our main dishes were less pleasing than the small portioned appetizers. Orange peel beef, salt and pepper shrimp, and basil chicken with shrimp. I appreciated the simple chow mein more than our more flavorful dishes. The main dishes were not too spicy, not too salty but lacked freshness. Our waitress was downright strange, constantly asking if she "could interest us in a beverage," "interest us in some fine appetizers," "if some hot soup might be appealing." It was like sultry subservience, and when she scooped my steamed rice onto my plate, I was totally freaked out. The ceiling featured a decoration made of drapery, that looked like a gigantic floor pillow attached to the ceiling. We left the restaurant, comforted by our full belies to go check on my grandma.

We really enjoyed our dinner here back in March. It had been awhile since we'd been here and we weren't sure what to expect, but it was fantastic. We had the spring rolls, which were very tastey and not very greasy. For dinner, we ordered the three treasures, the chicken chow mein, and the honey walnut prawns. Each dish was well cooked and very flavorful. It was a busy night, but we didn't have to wait a real long time. The time we did wait was very much worth it. Our waitress was attentive and nice. Our waters and tea were kept full. A very surprising and lovely experience. Great Chinese in an unlikely place. We will definitely be back!

Have been at the China Bistro twice now and as reported in the previous reviews the food is very good, priced appropriately, and the service from ok to very good....averaging both visits. The reason for the difference in my opinion was the number of people in the restaurant....the first time it was packed with a line out the door....service was expectedly slower....a little less crowded the 2nd time but still busy. Definitely would recommend this restaurant....

Americanized Chinese food, yes it is! Try the dry fried sea bass. It's always prepared well. How many Chinese restaurants do you know that serve brown rice? What I love about this restaurant is that it's a hidden gem for Hayward. We went there on a busy night and though a bit hectic for our waitress, she really did put her all into giving us a good dining experience. As did the other wait staff and even the manager/owner. There's a full bar for those interested and they serve dessert. Yum!

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. The food was great as always, but this time the service for me was slow. People who sat down after us were done eating before we got our food. I had to keep hearing the waiter apologize; he was blaming the kitchen. We ordered pot stickers as an appetizer, Honey Sesame Chicken and Mo Shew Pork. The food was delicious, but the wait was unacceptable.

Chefs Experience is the place to go if you want a good date night. The service is excellent, the mood is relaxed and the food is off the charts. I really appreciate the fact that there takeout orders always come out right. That's a big help when you're trying to get in and out for a quick lunch. Whether you sit at the bar or a booth; eat in or takeout, Chef Experience is a good choice. Favorite dish: General Tsao Chicken

I went to this place twice this week and the Wor wonton soup is to die for! Also the spicy dry calamari, the shu mai, and the salmon avocado is delish as well! I recommend this place even though you would never think of it looking from the outside!

  • Evan K.

Lord yes! I should begin by saying the food doesn't seem to be authentic. Maybe that's why it's so great! *zing Anyway when you order a dish, especially a meat dish, that's what you actually get!! In my experience most places just put a few pieces of meat and smother it with veggies. I'm not against veggies, I order the sea bass with the asparagus; what a spread it is! I haven't really looked at the bar too extensively. I did a Zombie, one of the mixed cocktails and boy was it strong! They're not lying with the (heavy) denotation next to it. The service is really great. What more can i say about it? I always catch myself singing phantom of the opera in my head while its playing in the background. Maybe they need to invest in other cds as well D: I usually don't order the wor wonton soup from other establishments, mostly because they aren't that great. You must order the wor wonton! Terrific wonton with very generous meats in them, plus a scallop ;) It's pricier then most other chinese places, but I would say its worth it. I've never had a bad dish here. I usually stick with General Tso fo sho chicken Hong Kong beef steak Wor wonton soup Double-panned fried noodles Sea bass! I also like that they offer brown rice. I order it and wonder why other places don't offer it. Maybe it's not authentic but whatevs. Come here for the great food, attentive service, what looks like a decent bar, and it's a nice clean place in Hayward.

My parents like to eat here, and they are the pickiest eaters in the world, especially when it comes to Chinese food. We're Chinese, but my husband the gringo really likes eating here too. My only complaint is the really high ceiling, which makes this place feel cavernous sometimes.

Awesome food. Amazingly attentive service. Highly recommend. The food was great, the service was fast, friendly and totally on top of everything. Spot on. Plus, they offer brown rice as a healthier option to the ubiquitous white rice. Sweet. Overall, couldnt find something wrong with this place. From a jaded NYer like me, that's saying a lot. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

China Bistro is another one of those long time restaurants in Hayward. This place has been here since for a long time. Like with any Chinese restaurants, you can find some common dishes that most westerns would get. I was here with a semi-large group to celebrate my friend's birthday, but did not have a good experienced since the waiter gave us a bad attitude. The food was good, but the service was horrible.

not too bad kind of pricey. but hey its a cloth napkin. soda in a glass kind of place. they have a bar. so you can order drinks and such. parking is in the back. lunch special's until 4pm. .

food was ok. service was ok. we ordered food togo. good-seafood chow mein, chef's seafood combo, seafood fried rice, hot sauce bad- wings were burnt and batter was too thick, walnut prawns too much mayo sauce, seafood tofu soup too bland, orange chicken was too saucy. ok, guess it was more bad than good experience

Just left, didn't get our entrees until 2 hours in and we cancelled our order because we couldn't wait any longer than we already had. They knew it would be busy for Mother's Day so u would think that they would schedule more staff. We only saw 2 waiters serving the whole main area where many parties had 6 or more people. It took at least 15 mins just to get water and even then we had to flag someone down to get it. We ordered our drinks, apps and entrees all together and yet we still weren't served entrees until an hour later. Other tables seated after us were getting their meals before us. The appetizers and drinks were tasty but not worth the wait. We were understanding to the staff cause it was out of their control. We finally went to cancel our order and then they decided to bring it out as we were trying to leave. The only apology we received was from the host. The owner/manager was unapologetic, made excuses by showing us when the order was placed (which only proved to us that it was put in way later) and didn't offer any type of comp. This is how we spent our Mother's Day evening. Over 2 hours in a restaurant but still hungry.

i LOVE this place. Our family goes here to celebrate birthdays, graduations, or any big event because they're great for it, great service, and great food! They have a separate room you can reserve for at least 100 people. Some places have a hard time covering these parties but they do a really great job serving and tending to your needs in a timely manner. They also have a bar that serves any drink as well as specialty drinks. I LOVE their food. I think this is the best Chinese food I've had, here in the Eastbay, forsure. My aunt knows the owner and when we're there, he takes good care of us and also helps serves, which is awesome!

Went in after a very long day of sightseeing in San Francisco area. Service was exceptional. Drinks refilled before asking and care was taken to help us share the food family style. Tried 4 entrees and an appetizer. Everything we got was hot and delicious. Sizable portions and we left with take home containers. Linen napkins and glasswear was a nice touch as well. I would definitely go again. Food was delicious.

Terrible service. Was overcharged on a lunch and the Manager ended up saying (paraphrased): not going to argue with you, just pay the bill. Big strike for any restaurant especially if the claim is legitimate. Mind you, this is the only time i have ever questioned a restaurant tab... EVER. Additional cons (on a consistent basis): Bad food quality Many of the dimsum dishes are prepared from frozen (not fresh) Given the above, many of our dimsum dishes have been cold in the middle on a regular basis Terrible skimping on the Peking duck entree (they bring the remaining duck back to the kitchen after serving the skin, claim they are bringing it back out prepared, but with a majority of the meat missing!) Somehow i end up back at Chef's because a friend or family member likes the high ceilings... that's possibly the only selling point here. Each time, the service is just terrible. Hayward isn't the best for cuisine, but there are a number of other Chinese restaurants in the city with better quality and bang for your buck.

It was a scorcher the day we went...ice cold shock too from draft helped cool me down...then came the spring rolls amd edamame...maybe its just me bur I dont like my edamame hot...but the spring rolls were delicious...until I dipped into what I thought was regular mustard compliments of the waiter...boom hit by a healthy helping of wasabi mustard in my face...wooo...messed me up something fierce...no warning...besides that little piece...food was good...orange chicken and mango shrimp are the bomb...good place to dine in for sure

Went here for a late dinner. Service is a little slow but whatevs. The restaurant entrance seems like it should be the back of the restaurant. It's pretty spacious inside, has a full on bar too. Was surprised that they not only had vegetarian options but also had a vegetarian section on the menu that had just as much choices as meat entrees. Impressive. Had their Mojito which was strong! Not complaining, simply stating the obvious. lol. Ordered the vegetarian pot stickers & spring rolls with a side of brown rice. The sweet and sour sauce made the dish, lol. The pot stickers were a little more oily than I'd like but they're fried, what should I expect. All in all, not too bad.

I really wanted to give this place more stars but the food was just mediocre. It's a Chinese restaurant with no Chinese workers or customers. Which should have been the first red flag. I didn't know how authentic the food would be. The waiters didn't know the menu or the food enough to explain dishes to us. They were trying to tell us that the dim sum we ordered were "appetizers" not knowing that Chinese ppl order a whole bunch of different dim sum to eat as a meal. So I feel like the owners have to better inform their employees on the kind of food they're serving. I was actually quite offended when the waiter was "teaching" us how to eat dim sum. With that said, I would skip this place. Head over to Tin's Tea Bistro on Jackson for some authentic bites!

  • Matthew K.

Food is mediocre. Service is terrible. Dont usually give anything less than 3 stars but too many things pissed me off about this place. Don't recommend this restaurant if you're hungry and want food right away. They do give you a lot of excuses though so if you like that sort of thing go right on ahead. Found sticker on the food. Waitress itched her dead skin on our table. Waited an hour for a friggin appetizer. Main course didn't come out until 1.5hours after we ordered. Totally ruined our night. Talked to the "manager" and he didn't seem to really care but gave bunch of excuses. If I could I would give this restaurant ZERO stars. This place should not be called the chef's experience but the WORST Experience. Boom!

Always above average Chinese cuisine but I was disappointed that they failed to accomodate when I asked them Specifically to make certain dishes extra spicy. Other than that the flavors were really good. Ill drive out here if I am craving Chinese. :)

I went in today, 11/10/14, for a friend's birthday. I have been going to this place for some time now and have never had a problem. The waitress brought my water and I drank it like normal. Thank goodness someone from our party noticed a huge ROACH in my glass floating for its life!!!!! As I was trying to address this issue with the waitress, she became very defensive and stated that it was not the restaurant's fault and did very little to accommodate us. It seemed like she did not want to talk about this in hopes to keep their roach problem silent to others. I am never going back to this joint, not only do they have a roach problem but they suck at handling issues.

Yea I am a big fan of this Chinese Bistro. It is by far one of Hayward's hidden gems. Great food, drinks are good and price on food not so bad. The String Green Beans is one of best along with the Seafood Fried Rice. Two of my favorites and I mean favorites - I can't seem to order anything else because I so love these items. Don't get me wrong my friends who have gone there have tried other food items and trust me they are the bomb, but i always come back to the seafood and green beans. Stop by on a Friday night and let Robert the bartender make you cocktail.

We were leary on going back, after they changed it.... very nice to see they have lettuce wraps (like pf changs) Their sceshwanese prawns are to die for!!!!! I ordered a cherry lemon drop, which was good...although reading the description on it, it being made with freshly squeezed lemons.... I was really disapointed that I saw the guy bring out a bottle of lemon stuff instead! for close to 9 bucks, It deserved better! haha

Very nice restaurant, well kept and staffed. Perfect environment to conduct business or have dinner with family and friends. Food is amazing. The Mongolian beef and hot and sour soup are exceptional. Service is fast and friendly. I have eaten here over a dozen times and will continue to do so.

WHOOOAA, dont let the decor and remodel fool you, this is not authentic asian food, they short you on the sides of rice/chow mein. The only good thing on the menu is the fried chicken and garlic asparagus, i would recommend Sunflower 2 on A. st, right around the corner...

Nice place in Hayward, probably the best Chinese food in Hayward. The place is clean and nice. The waitstaff could be friendlier, but they are okay. I haven't had a bad meal here. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. They can accommodate large parties.

While I usually enjoy the food, we went for dinner there on Friday night and someone broke out the back window of my daughters car. A nice gentleman who works at Big 5 came out to help us sweep up the glass. He said "this happens all the time. Sometimes twice a day!". The Chef's Experience manager finally did come out, and gave a very half hearted "oh well, sorry about that". If you know your parking lot is a target for thieves, why don't you at least install cameras? While we were willing to pay a little more for good quality food, the cost has now become too high, especially if you know this is an issue and continue to do nothing about it.

We had Mother's Day brunch here for a group of 10. We've been doing a dim sum brunch for many years & have tried several restaurants in the area & in Oakland chinatown. The food here is by far the best. The service was outstanding, the food was fresh & delicious. They don't have the carts, which was always fun. But, we knew what we were getting & it was very fresh. We will definitely be back.

When I lived in Oakland I used to drive all the way to Hayward at least once a week to order take-out here! The food is delicious :) I moved to Hayward about a year ago and finally just went back to my fave chinese place! I dined in this time and was pleasantly served by Kyle. He was great at recommending his favorite dishes, he checked on us regularly and was very polite. This place looks a little "sketchy" from the outside and its sort of tucked in between two buildings but you won't be disappointed if you try it ! I ordered the Flamming Volcano Fish bowl (for two).. very cool drink! You can even order it a little more "fruity" if you don't want the rum too strong. The Honey Sesame Chicken is very tasty! Its lightly battered and covered in a tangy honey sauce. Clean, food was delicious upkeep is up to par, and service was great.

Horrible. Food was gross & tasteless. We ordered: Chicken chow mein-bland Lemon chicken (usually a fav)-fatty; too much breading Dried spare ribs- Good flavor but no meat jst fat Sizzling beef- this was good! But $16!!!! When ordering I asked what beef dishes they had but I neglected to ask price :/ $50 later & lots of un eaten food.

Have been going here for a long time! Kinda a diamond in the rough...I like the food, its tasty and they give you good portions. I LOVE to have their volcano drink with a friend, Mmm Yummy! ! Nice local place to go and dine, you can even sit at the bar and watch a game. I booked my sons 16th birthday here it was great in their nice little banquet room and the prices were good for the food and it has its only little bar area in the banquet room.

I am a big fan of Chinese food. I have been meaning to write a review about this place for a long time, but I have a tendency to write more about things I don't like than I do like! This place is by far my favorite place! The food is so amazing! I have never ordered anything that I don't like. The restaurant is very nice inside, the staff is very friendly. One of the guy bartenders behind the bar is really slow though, that's my only complaint. He has been there for years, and they should have gotten rid of him his first week. Other than that though this is my go to spot for Chinese!

DO NOT ORDER Mango Chicken...it is disgusting!! It was the most expensive plate we ordered, small plate and with no flavor! I let the waitress know and she didn't even offer to take off our bill. She even admitted it was pretty bad. That only old people and kids order this because it has no flavor. If they know this they should take it off the menu.

This restaurant is everything most definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Hayward the food is amazing full of flavor fresh cooked to order tastefully filling to the I presented beautifully and not to mention the amazing friendly staff.. I am a regular at this restaurant at least two times a week I will be in their ordering the infamous war wonton soup. With the big side of lemons ( they already know) this restaurant is clean very well-maintained the environment very friendly the dress attire is casual there's always parking in front free Wi-Fi sometimes they have live music in the other room if not some smooth tunes playing lightly. The bar is very well-stocked and Rob is always whipping up some amazing drinks!!!! My favorites are : The honey sesame chicken ,the beef and broccoli ,the war wonton soup the chicken Fried rice and the chicken chow fun noodles . Simply AMAZING!!!! Try a appetizer!!! Potstickers or chicken lettuce wraps are simply decadent and tantalizing!!!

I ordered "to go". The lobster won tons are wonderful. I like the bar. The food was just ok. I had better previously. The service was ok. I paid at the podium and barely had eye contact, he was too busy on cell phone. For my $44 dollar tab I was expecting a tad bit better. I could have gone to Whole Foods and did better.

One month ago, I reserved the private room in the back for lunch for a special event. We thought we would have 30-40 guests but ended up with 60. Ed and his staff quickly put together two more tables and were extremely accommodating. The food arrived timely and received compliments from all who attended. The waiters were excellent and Ed was working very hard to make sure our lunch went well, which is did. Many in our party have returned to Chef's Experience since then and enjoyed the food. I would like to thank Ed and his staff for everything!

If I can give this restaurant 0 stars, I would do it in a heartbeat! My review is based solely on their horrible customer service! I was looking for a venue to celebrate my husband's grandma's 90th birthday and I stumbled upon this restaurant. We looked into it and found out it was recently and newly renovated. We came without notice to look around, but found out that the organizer Eddie (or Ed) wasn't in yet. The hostess was kind enough to give him a call and said he would be in 5-10 minutes. Long story short, I wanted the venue booked. Unfortunately, there was another party that had the date and time UNOFFICIALLY booked. Eddie had just written their name and phone number on the calendar, but they never gave a deposit. Eddie said that he would contact the party after our meeting and give them until Sunday (we came on a Saturday, so he meant the next day) to call him back. I was disappointed that we might not get the venue, but fair is fair. I called the next day and he said that he had yet to receive any email or phone call from them, but he would still wait until the next day (Monday) at noon to give me a definite answer. I agreed since it was a weekend. I called him back at 1230pm the next day and he gave the date and time to me. He said that he still hadn't heard anything from them, so the venue was mine. He told me to email him the type of menu I wanted and other details regarding the party. Later on that Monday night at 930pm, I get a phone call from him, but I didn't get a chance to answer it. He didn't leave any voicemail to let me know it was urgent. He called me again at 9am on Tuesday and asked me if I had received his email and I said no. Then he told me the horrible news: The other party called him the night before (after he told me I had the venue) and said they still wanted the venue. Without calling me or notifying me, the idiot gave them back the reservation! WHAT KIND OF SERVICE DOES THIS RESTAURANT OFFER? Crappy! He didn't even apologize for what he did! I will not support a business that treats their customers like he did me! It's disrespectful and very unprofessional! Thank goodness for Silver Spoon Restaurant ( yelp.com/biz/silver-spoo… ) who came to the rescue at the last minute. If you want outstanding service and awesome food, come here instead!

This place was NOT good. Don't waste your time. The honey sesame chicken had no flavor, the fried rice tasted old, and the chow fun needed lots of soy sauce (more greasy than flavorful). The honey walnut prawns were decent. The service was weird. The waitress told us that there was no more white rice, so we asked if we can get a little more fried rice instead of brown rice, and she told us no because she would get yelled at if she even asked, and that they count every penny. Enough said. If your workers are in fear of getting yelled at to even ask a question that could make a satisfied customer, there's definitely a problem. Get it together China Bistro.

Coming from a Chinese person who eats lots of Chinese food. 3.5 stars. Someone also said 3.5 and gave it 4, so I'll give it a 3 and make it even haha. This is a fancy Americanized Chinese restaurant, which I really was not used to. I'm used to either the hole in the wall Chinese restaurants that are busy, dirty, and small but bomb ass chinese food or the fancier ones that have chandeliers on top and 10 plate menus. However, here we were greeted by American servers. I thought, crap, it's Asian Fusion aka not authentic chinese food. The look of the place only confirmed it to be Americanized. But the food surprisingly tasted good. We ordered Seafood Tofu soup, Chicken with Shiitake mushrooms, the Happy Family, and green beans. The soup was delicious, the spinach in the chicken dish was fresh, green beans and happy family were both good. Yet, the happy family didn't come out as sizzling and the sauces all kind of tasted the same, so it wasn't anything crazy. Overall, this place is nice, has a full bar (which you NEVER see at a chinese restaurant..), and it tasted like real Chinese food... but I would still rather go to a cheaper and more authentic Chinese restaurant.

Not bad considering there is not a single Asian person working in this Chinese establishment. I usually get the lettuce wraps for starters and a few dim sum orders. This is the only Chinese restaurant that serves Dim Sum for dinner in the East Bay and it's authentically yummy. Lychee Martini is overpriced and weaker than crap

A recent impromptu visit with the family gave me the opportunity to try some of the dim sum that China Bistro started serving not too long ago. Without a single Chinese employee to be seen in the spacious dining room, I was a little (ok, a lot) skeptical about the food. Thankfully, everything turned out to be pretty solid and there wasn't a single miss amongst the siu mai, haw gao, lor mai gai, spring rolls and baked char siu bao. So why the 2 stars? The prices are on par with Koi Palace...'nuff said.

I'm a regular here. The wait staff are very friendly and food comes out promptly. Though they do get pretty busy during peak hours. My favorite is the eggplant chow mein and chicken and corn soup but just about everything I have tried so far has been good. They serve dim sum as well and have a nice bar too!

My family and I come here pretty often. The food is good and the portion sizes are good. The food is a little bit on the pricier side, but other than that, I'm a fan of this place. The staff has always been super nice, and anytime the owner is there, he makes sure to check in on how everything is tasting.

I was referred to this place by a co-worker who had her mother n law's 90th birthday party here as I was on the hunt for an affordable venue for my own mother's 80th surprise birthday party. Eddie the owner took great care of us. They have a beautiful private room that comes with a bar and private restrooms very nice very clean, it can seat about 100 I believe, we had a party of close to 70 and selected the sit down dinner. No room charge only a deposit that gets applied to the final bill..who can beat it? Eddie does the cooking for his private events. His service is outstanding..he checked on me several times during the event. Eddie caters to families and understands how to meet your family needs. The food was awesome, delicious and fresh!! I live all the way in Pittsburg, CA but I will make the hour drive anytime to eat their food, the price was affordable, Eddie was very flexible and the service made you feel like your family is VIP. I recommend this venue as a great place to host your event, free parking in the back is awesome, the hours are great and I would definitely come back!! This place has won my heart. =)

I guess it's better than Panda Express but that's not saying much. I rather go to an "authentic" Chinese restaurant.

It's a great place to dine in or take out. Big parking lot and entrance is in the back. Their menu has a lot to choose from for everyone even vegetarian.

OK, so, as a guy who grew up on Chinese food cooked by my dad, this place is a little - what's the word? - "Americanized" for me. However, my wife grew up in the Midwest and New Mexico, so my idea of Chinese food frightens her terribly. China Bistro is a perfect compromise between what I think of as Chinese food, and what she thinks of as Chinese food. Especially since they added dim sum to the menu - I'll usually order off that menu, even for dinner, while she gets something off the dinner menu. The staff is friendly, they have a BAR!, and the food is a nice balance. Now I want to go there tonight.

We celebrated Mothers' Day dinner with my Mom and family members. I remember coming here years ago but, I think the restaurant was remodeled recently. Overall, my Mom was delighted eating here because the food tasted delicious and it's conveniently close to my Mom's home.

It was Delish! These were the best scallion pancakes I've had in a long time! The food reminded me of one of my favorite places back in NYC. I'll definitely be back.

If you only care about the food, the one item I can tell you to avoid is the steamed chicken dumplings on the Dim Sum menu. The skin is too thick and would be better fried. Otherwise, the Singapore Style Noodles have detectable spiciness, Fried Rice is made with low sodium, and the Chow Fun (better known as Chow Ho Fun) has the right amount of oil with a great fire-wok taste. All the other Dim Sum items should taste between satisfactory and great, but the prices are marked up compared to nearby West Lake Restaurant. The cookie-cutter shaped Mango Pudding lightly lined with raspberry jam and a pump of whipped cream in the center was delightful. I can't really comment on the quality of service, because I went with three other people and there were only two to three other tables occupied and at most two people at the bar. But we were served by a middle-aged woman and she was nice. Our food came out in a timely manner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After reading other people's reviews and having lunch here earlier today, I conclude this restaurant is somewhere between having an identity crisis and being an Olive Garden except with Chinese food. The identity crisis comes from impressions that are full of contrast. The parking lot doesn't have potholes, but is in need of being repaved. The facade is a dull pink, but walk inside and you have a fairly nice upper mid-class seating environment. As a classically trained pianist and violinist, my attention to detail was only able to pick out a couple of the classical music selections that might have been too intense for eating, but otherwise it was relaxing. The fountain attempts to add the upscale touch, but that could easily be negated if it encourages you to get up and use the bathroom. The wanna-be Olive Garden feel comes from all the waiters being non-Chinese, no written Chinese at all on the menus, forks and a knife wrapped in cloth napkins (you have to ask for chopsticks) and no tea offered of all things. But don't fear this place of being too Americanized because the chefs chat and work away in Cantonese and the authenticity of the food matches that of any decent Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The full bar and its lighting look attractive, but because it's so visibly open to the rest of the seating area, I can't consider it as family friendly as Olive Garden. It's trying so hard to be inspired by the best of different things but it's an awkward fusion. Repaint the facade tan or sand, put written Chinese on the menu, lower the Dim Sum prices so that they're closer to competitors, put up a wall between the bar and main seating area, offer a rich-tasting traditional tea if the customer looks Asian (especially during the cold Winter months!), and you just might have a winner.

Whether I'm eating at the bar, at a table, or picking up my order for take out...I've always left happy! Whether I'm dining with one friend or with a group of 10+, the staff has always been friendly and the food, soooo tasty! My favorite dishes are the sizzling rice soup and the wok grilled steak and scallops, but I've tried many dishes (especially when there with a large group), and they've all been great. Added plus - there's plenty of parking in the back.

This would have been a five star review if only the service when we entered the restaurant was as good as the table service! Unfortunately we were not acknowledge upon entering. Lucky we didn't leave because our waitress was friendly and offered suggestions. Did I mention the food was GREAT!!! Fresh Dim Sum! Yes!!!

This gem in Hayward is definitely worth coming too. Doesn't really look too fancy from the outside but once inside, it's a pretty nice place for Chinese food. The food tastes clean and not too oily. They have brown rice which is a plus. They also have a full bar with their own specialty drinks. I've come here for a nice date nite but it's also a nice place for big groups as well. I've called ahead for a big party and they a accommodated very nicely.

Me and at least nine others got food poisoning/gastroenteritis after eating their food during our company's Christmas party. If you enjoy violently vomiting and squirting diarrhea all night, this could be your place. 0 stars

I have been coming here for years. They use top quality ingredients and prepare them well. I love their food. The prices reflect the quality ingredients they use, however, this last raise has pushed their prices over the top in my opinion. Instead of coming in once a week, I now come in once or twice a month. I just feel the VALUE of my dollar is no longer of value here. My complaints have to do with their service staff. The two long term waitress are very good and the food comes out on time and in order. The other wait staff turns over frequently and the staff I have experienced first hand are not trained well. Management take note: most of your bad reviews here are because of your untrained staff. HUGE MISTAKE. Today the soda machine was down so the staff made ice tea from scratch (it usually comes out of the tap and is horrible). Those of us who like unflavored iced tea prefer it brewed. Today's iced tea was delicious! Management: couldn't you offer both? My four stars are because the food is really good and because I know when the good staff is there and that's when I go.

Here's the skinny... -the bar is the best place to sit (unless you have a flash mob size party of course) -the food is pretty tasty -the volcano drink is on FIRE! -the atmosphere can get pretty noisy, be prepared. P.S. I don't normally like Chinese joints, but I have got to hand it to Chef's Experience...definitely a place we'll be venturing to again.

I love this place and can say that not only have I never had a bad experience here, but in fact can remember each and every visit with gusto. I have taken many friends and coworkers here for the first time and they always thank me. You would never know it's so nice from the outside, so don't judge a book by its cover. All of the waiters here are exceptionally friendly, available, and hospitable. Extremely generous portions and their fusion chinese cuisine is impossibly good ( I am otherwise pretty indifferent about chinese food). I am the biggest fan of their Kung Pao style vegetarian chicken! My favorite chicken-alternative in the world. They have a full bar and just expanded to the building next door to accommodate private events. This is truly one of Hayward's gems and I couldn't speak more fondly of it.

Great food! Great service! Best Chinese food in the Hayward/San Leandro/Castro Valley area. The owner Ed is so friendly and the staff is always pleasant. Favorite dish is the honey sesame chicken but Ive never tried anything I didnt like. There vegetable dishes are always fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. If I want Chinese food this is the restaurant I go to!

2.5 stars We came here for my mothers birthday, its a nice looking place. And thats pretty much the only good thing about it. I've eaten here ones before and haven't returned since (other than my mother birthday dinner, "not my choice of restaurant"). The first time I came here (about 2 years ago), I took my sister who was visiting from over seas and we ordered the orange chicken. It was terrible, it taste like the orange chicken bags in the freezer aisle that you take home and heat in the microwave. During my mothers birthday I wanted to avoid the orange chicken, so I thought to my self I should probably order Mongolian Beef (its very difficult to mess this dish up). Unfortunately, it was the worst Mongolian beef I have ever eaten in my life. My family also ordered chowmein, and that was also awful (very bland and no taste). The only item that I like was the sachwan shrimp (My spelling is probably incorrect). That dish tasted really good, other than that, there overall food is not good. The waiter took the entire tables order, but forgot to take mine. He also refilled the entire tables water cups, but he forgot to fill mine. I have no idea how he can forget about me twice, I'm not a tiny person, Its hard to not notice that I'm also sitting on the table. FYI: if you walk into a Chinese restaurant and only 10% of their customers are authentic Chinese, that must tell you that the food is not so good. Service was OK, it could have been better if I wasn't forgoten twice, and I also found it inappropriate for the older asianish waitress to confront another server about taking her tables in front of us (they can do that away from all the customers).

We have dined here since they opened 7 or 8 years ago and always enjoyed it. When greeted by Eddie, the owner, or our favorite server, Rosie, we feel like we've just joined them for a family meal. I frequent here most often for lunch with my co-workers sharing many dishes. We always start with potstickers that are prepared at the table. Not overly greasy and the best around. Can you say "finger lickin' good?" My go-to dish for lunch is the Basil Chicken and Shrimp, but all dishes are good. The truly standout dish is Peking Duck for dinner. It is prepared in a traditional manner: crispy pieces of duck are served on little soft succulent buns with scallions and hoisin sauce. We've eaten duck in many places, including Beijing, and this is on the same par with places in China that are famous for their duck. But here they also serve a second course of duck meat stir-fried with veggies that is heavenly also. Last week they began serving dim sum and I'm anxious to give it a try.

I think I gave Chef's E a review awhile back and it said that everything is awesome but I just had some pretty shitty customer service so I am changing my review. I have been going there for 6 years now and always order the same thing. I just tried to call in an order and the person that answered said that she was new and didn't know how to order it in their computer system. You don't know how to order Mongolian Beef???? She suggested that I try calling tomorrow when someone more experienced was there! lol I asked if maybe she could just ask the kitchen to make it and charge me the price listed on the menu. She said that she would get in trouble with her manager. Maybe she should be more worried about sending paying customers to a competitor. Wow

This place is totally over rated and over priced. I was excited to bring my family here based on the yelp reviews, but was totally disappointed and let down by the food. I am not a picky eater so it takes a lot for me to not like something. My family got two chicken dishes and they both were bad. Worst yet, the chicken tasted like it came from an animal that survived a nuclear fall out. The texture was sponge like and the taste was not there. The eggplant basil dish was edible but lacked flavor, especially basil. I felt robbed for what they charged based on the low quality I received. Even the chili hot sauce at the table tasted old and crusty. How do you make chili sauce taste like salty toothpaste? I will not go back or be able to reclaim the taste buds I lost at this place.

Not too shabby but I don't think the price is worth it. Maybe it's because I've gotten the same quality of food for cheaper elsewhere but I'll consider possibly revisiting. I'm used to going to Chinese restaurants where the patrons are primarily Chinese in order to gauge the quality of the food... And I'll just say that there weren't any Chinese patrons the night I went there for dinner. Nevertheless, the food wasn't too bad. We tried asking the waiter what the sauce was for one of the dishes and he had to ask someone else who replied that he didn't know. I guess that's what happens when you're talking to a Hispanic waiter for a Chinese restaurant... Maybe next time?

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
