Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

My first date was at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Hollywood. It's long gone now. But since then I have been trying to eat in as many OSF as possible, Portland, Sacramento, Honolulu etc. Your paper placemat has all the cities. This particular time was a disappointment however. The ambiance is still there, you can see the trains (next door to the Fullerton Train Depot) buzz by every few minutes, the funky victorian lamps and the velvet covered chairs as well as the replica train car are still there. But the food...so sad... The portions are now smaller, the sauce in its depression-era serving size sits lonely on top of a meatloaf that was bland and dry. The meatballs were just round versions of the meatloaf, and the soup was salty and tinny. The spumoni desert had ice crystals like it was refrozen. Not everything was bad, the sourdough bread is still good. The beer on tap were good too. So go, for the memories, for the fun and cheap prices, but you can probably make a better plate of spaghetti yourself at home.

Don't waste your time here. You can get better spaghetti by opening a jar of Prego or Ragu. This place has no flavor what so ever and very cheap looking food. When my boyfriend and I visited this restaurant we also tried the recommeded Roasted Chicken Breast and Spaghetti with Browned Butter and Mizithra cheese. It's just some white spaghetti with some white cheese shreds, needed to add salt and pepper so it didn't taste just like pasta alone. The chicken was ok since it was juicy but barely seasoned. Only thing decent thing here was the warm sourdough bread they brought to each table.

First, it's tough screwing up spaghetti - you have to be a horrible cook to screw up spaghetti. That said, the secret has to be in the sauce. Old Spaghetti Factory is a decent place to fill a craving for pasta. The food is pretty basic and the prices are reasonable. You get hearty portions of pasta and the meat sauce is adequate. Sourdough bread is good! Definitely canned sauce thats spruced up a bit.

All my friends/old roommates work at spag, with that being said it has to be the worst food on the planet. The food taste like chef boyardee on steroids! Everything about the place is mediocre and the only regulars my roommates tell me are freaks/obese people. I dont understand how they are still in business when the food taste like what a Italian person would throw up after drinking 7 bottles of sangria to the dome. Maybe its because I spent a summer in Italy and learned how to cook Italian food..... The only reason worth coming here is the cheese bread and you can get it for a dollar if you have a coupon! Oh btw if you go to csuf, you geta free italian soda and you get to keep the glass.....

this is a favorite place for my family to come (me, hubby, and kids ages 2 and 4). I love that my kids love the spaghetti, especially the one with meat sauce and always finish their plates off here. they love the bread that comes first. and the free spunomi ice cream that comes at the end of the meal. The decor of the place is great for the kids, it makes you feel like you're in the early 20th century. In the waiting area, there are showcases of trains from the early 1900's on. right outside the restaurant is a train station where the amtrak stops as well as the metro. My kids look forward to going there after dinner to see if we can catch a glimpse of a train passing by. The service is usually pretty good. The spaghetti for adults is good. They don't have too much variety. My favorite is the Mizithra with browned butter. It takes good mixed up with another sauce as well!

I'm sitting in the OSF as I write this because the experience is so terrible I couldn't wait to get home. I would like to start out by saying they need a new hiring manager, as the service was out right awful. It took well over 15 minutes to get our beverages and the food was sub par at best. Costco has better spinach and cheese ravioli. The chicken parm was soggy and flavorless. Chef gorden ramsey would have spit the lasagna out on the floor. For dessert we had a sludgy spumoni soup. Needless to say I will not be returning. Now I need a sweet drink to get this bitter taste out of my mouth.

Love this place, been going to the one in San Jose since I was a kid. Spaghetti with white clam sauce is great. Its all that my dad eats from here. Personally I like the breast of chicken fettucini alfredo. Some people say its too cheesy though. Parking at prime eating hours (12-2pm and 5-8pm) are difficult but theres always the amtrak station or across the street.

I hate this place...the food is horrible. Every time we go here, I expect things to get better and they only get worse. Two times we had call ahead seating which did absolutely nothing for us. They mess up our order and even when I'm super hungry the food just does not taste good. I will never go here again.

Food is okay for the price that you're paying. Service is a hit or miss depending on your server. It can be also extremely slow in getting a table and getting your food. Apparently, there's a lot of turnover in servers and cooks due to management (reliable source from former employee). The host/hostesses can be friendler in my opinion since it is their job to smile and greet the customers. Majority of the time we walk in, they are talking to one another and will take a few seconds to finish their conversations before acknowledging us. Two out of the three managers are nice but there is one male manager who is short who can brush up on his customer service skills. In my opinion, he is not manager material. Not sure what his name is..possibly Russ but the guy needs to brush up on his customer service skills or be demoted. Only reason we keep going back is my daughter enjoys the penne with meat sauce and the clam sauce. I hope corporate reads or gets notifications about the negative reviews and takes steps in improving their staff/restaurant.

What can I say about Old Spaghetti Factory? The food here is very plain, just spaghetti. Were you expecting something else? Overpriced for the food you're getting although you do get a lot of food. I did not find the staff very helpful whatsoever. Very average and nothing special. Pros: Lots of food Cons: Just spaghetti and overpriced

The food is good, if not spectaular. The ambience is really nice; lots of well-carved, dark wood furniture and victorian stained-glass. Good service, too. And good prices: three-course meals for $10.

Five stars++++++ for our amazing bartender!! i cant recall her name shes a little short (maybe Philipino or Mexican) girl. But she gets major points in my book she was so sweet and extremely helpful we were there for my little sisters 21st bday and we had gotten there early to watch the game and grab a few drinks. She offered different selections we might like and even made a few shots for her bday. Definitely one of the best bartender experiences I have ever had. Our waitress when we did finally sit down did leave a lot to be desired though hence the 4 star rating. She was a bit pushy on getting us to order as she wanted to leave i assume but then she would also disappear when we needed her. She seemed a bit lost maybe she was new ohhhhh well at least the bartender was amazing! Now for the food there is absolutely nothing remotely healthy to order is my only gripe. I ended up getting the spaghetti with mushrooms and it was good not my favorite thing ever but everything was good quality. The balsamic salad dressing was super yummy though.... and that fresh sourdough bread cannot be beat. Everyone gets three courses so of course the ice cream got shoved in my face and who am i to say no? haha I got the spumoni and it was definitely good... maybe not the best but i enjoyed it. Everyone else finished their plates so i make the assumption that they all enjoyed it.

Oh, alright, it's not the best place for pasta. But for around 12 dollars, you can get soup, pasta, and ice cream with free water and bread (sourdough!) I went last week (lol exactly!). We already made a reservation. The place looked nice, had an "old" feel to it. Our waiter was a funny man. Very talkative and kept us entertained. I ordered Alfredo Fettucine. It was very blah. It was a very small portioin (yes I know, 10 dollars for the whole meal), but still I expected a good size serving. There wasn't much taste. It was very bland. The cheese on top added some taste, but when you need CHEESE to add some taste to it, for me, that's no no. My coach, who ordered something different, had someting that looked awfully like mines, but a bigger portion and ALOT of cheese. I couldn't taste an aftertaste in the water. The ice cream was ok. They have Vanilla, or this weird Neopolitan ice cream. Service was great though. I heard them sing happy birthday to a couple of customers.

I love this place! The food is cheap and you get alot for your money, its worth the wait on the weekends when it's busy.

i thought they would have different kinds of spaghettis..but it wasn't as i thought...i love spaghetti but they didnt really have great looking ones so i ordered lasgna and it was okay...and my friend ordered meat lovers spaghetti and it was too chunky meat...

im pretty easy to please when it comes down to pasta. thats how i grew up and thats probably how ill always be. a simple meat sauce or alfredo will do it for me. that is why i looooveeee spaghetti factory. its simple and cheap. for a mere $10 I can get a drink, bread, salad, entree, and dessert. and for $1.95 for the hearty portion, I have lunch the next day. I always get the managers favorite with meat sauce and clam sauce with mizithra on the side. I add a side of broccoli and im good to go. Every meal comes with a drink, salad, bread, and ice cream. the pesto on the salad is good. I much prefer this place over olive garden because its cheaper.

i came here with my bf we ordered garlic bread and oolala its the best iv had yet. very cheesy. he had the veg lasagna and i had cheese spinach ravioli .. the lasagna was good on the other hand my raviolis had no flavor and they were a bit dry . .we also had some ice cream . . okay so the server told us she was going to give us one to share and omg it was miniature size . . but the good thing is that since they took a while bringing out the food they gave us a 50 % discount.. which was awesome. ..overall the service was okay .

I've been to this location many times before and other locations as well, but I had to yelp about our fantastic experience last night. I'm really not a big fan of The Old Spaghetti Factory, well for one thing, it's got the word "Old" in the name, which kind of explains the clientele. It's like the early bird special everyday/all day at this place. The food is not that great, very basic, spaghetti, tortellini, lasagna, raviolis... you can go to your local grocery store, pick up a box of stouffer's and prepare it in your microwave and it will probably taste the same. Now that I've gotten through the negs, let's focus on the positives... it's HELLA CHEAP! For $10-$12 you get your entree, soup or salad, bread, coffee/tea or milk, and dessert which is a choice of vanilla ice cream or spumoni. This is like bargain basement prices right here, no wonder the senior community loves this place! Can't beat a good deal. For the fantastic experience last night, it all came down to our wonderful waitress Caressa. She was super polite, friendly, fast & just awesome at what she does. I always say that getting great service nowadays is very rare, but when you do get it... it's always a nice surprise. So if you're stopping by The Old Spaghetti Factory, ask to be seated in Caressa's area, she will take good care of you.

This is at most an average pasta place. You can't expect much if you get salad, bread, pasta, and ice cream for $6!! C'mon now. For great value and a drinking fun time with pasta on the side, I'd say it's worth a try for the college and 20 somethings. Now for a great Italian dining experience, I'd say don't come here :)

With restaurants, i say its 90% about food and 10% decor/ambiance. this place gets one star because they pull off the country log cabin thing pretty well by using the dark wood veneer and chunky furniture. in regards to the food, well, lets just say that i can make better spagetti in less than 30 minutes using prego.

I have been to several Old Spaghetti Factory locations, but this location is by FAR my favorite. Its at a real train station, and it just makes it more REAL. The food is good ,and remember you get what you pay for.,,this place is not expensive. I used to go here on dates a lot when I was younger, and I thought it was really NICE.. I typically get -- spaghetti ala Homer. I LOVE LOVE the mizithra cheese. I love the bread they serve, with garlic butter or regular. I also love their salad and spumoni at the end. Sadly, I haven't been in a year or so.. and writing this review makes me miss it. I think the Old Spaghetti Factories are decorated nicely - old victorian.. all velvety and what not. The service is typically pretty standard, I find it to be good. This place is usually pretty crowded and they are good at turning tables. Great for large groups, and did I mention I love the spumoni. yes.

oh man how can you not like this place bread, salad, meal and ice cream....all for under $10!!!! they have hella good mizithra cheese....my normal dish is chef's choice 1/2 mushroom sauce and 1/2 mizithra cheese! you gotta try it you'll love it!!!!!!

I have to agree with the previous reviewer. The food was not good after the garlic cheese bread. On top of that, the service was horrible. I had to wait 20min before I get my credit card back even though the restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night.
