My friends and I favorite spot in Fullerton since JJ sushi got closed in Brea. This spot doesn't have anything special from any other sushi bar, but its near the school and its quick. Service are great and they are very welcoming. Think we have tried everything on the menu ha! Top favorites: Midnight Roll Four Season Roll Caterpillar Roll Phili Roll Spicy Tuna Roll Nine One One Roll Crunchy Rolls Udon with Tempera Think the Waitresses remembers us three coming in for lunch but we always seem to miss happy hour, but its okay good sushi here :)

THIS is a sushi restaurant! The prices and the portions! No other spot can honestly compete. I come here for lunch and their daily happy hour from 4PM-7PM.

Good tasting sushi, fresh and ample quality of sushi given. The beer is good too! I would recommend this place to anyone. Happy hour prices seem a better time to explore.

So Jerm and I felt like sushi and wanted to try a different spot. Yelped this place and figured, why not? We started off with a salad from one of the sushi chefs: Two tempura green peppers over a bed of lettuce, with light dressing. [A+] Followed with Miso soup. [A] Nine One One roll [A+] Four Seasons roll [A++] Phili Roll [A++] Then another salad from the chef, a tender piece of salmon over another bed of lettuce, drizzled with a soy sauce dressing. [A++] Then we topped off our dinner with temper green tea ice cream. [B] Also enjoyed a large warm saki with our meal. Overall, we had a really good experience. The staff was nice, welcoming, and attentive. The chefs were friendly and checked with us on our opinions. The place was clean with cute decor, although it tied in more with the area and not so much with Japanese culture. Bonus, one of the few sushi places around, open on a Sunday. AND they have happy hour on the weekends too, ends around 7pm [I think].

I have been regular at SJ_Fullteron since they opened a year an half ago. My wife and I like their happy hour prices, but go for the good sushi. We get a few of our favorites from the happy hour menu and try an new roll each time we come. they are constantly adding new rolls and new specials... recently added the Strawberry Farm.... a smokey, spice roll with slices of Strawberry on the side... who would have known fruit and sushi paired so well. We love this place so much that we have all but abandoned our other favorites places and go to SJ Fullerton exclusively. at least twice a week..... So, I gotta go... heading back to SJ with the family for more great sushi.

I just had the worst experience here. It took 15 minutes for us to get our beers and a great deal longer just to get a miso soup. The waitress stopped at the table next to us to flirt with the guy there so we had to get her attention each time we needed something. The food was not impressive by any means. To top off our night I look to my left and a baby cockroach comes running across the sushi bar. Basically we will never be back.

I absolutely love this place. I am proud to say that this is my FAVORITE SUSHI RESTAURANT. The staff are very friendly, and their specials are amazing. Happy Hour is an awesome deal! The sunrise roll is my favorite, it's hard to say no to it. I try to bring all my friends here

  • Jennifer P.

Omg...this place was sooooo good!! We just happened to stop in during happy hour and they have great deals on a great variety of rolls...we tried 4 different ones and they were all amazing. Their crunch roll is one of the best I've had, we tried the Fullerton roll, the Abby roll and one other off the happy hour menu. The bill was only $30. The Fullerton roll was reg price but everything else was $6 I think. Servers are very attentive and food was out really fast. Not a very big place, nice and cozy. Can't wait to go back!

Good sushi. Off the main downtown a little. I suggest the 911 roll. It has a slight unique heat that was fun. Lots of avocado which I love.

This place is the bomb! Came here for lunch with a friend. The parking lot sucks big time and is really small. But on to the food. We ordered the nine one one roll which is now the best/ my favorite sushi roll ever! It was spicy and had chili oil on it. The chesee roll was delicious and the four season roll was amazing. The service was fantastic, quick and attentive. I will definitely be coming back to sushi joint again. Based off the sign it looks like they have a pretty good happy hour. This is a great sushi spot in Fullerton and is worth checking out.

I've been here before and enjoyed it however yesterday I stopped by and had salmon and tuna that had no flavor whatsoever. Strangest thing. No flavor. Salmon was stringy and difficult to bite through. It looked beautiful though. Seaweed salad was great. I spoke to the chef and he shrugged and asked if used wassabi. What?? Lol. Wassabi with that? 3 stars for prior good meal.

  • Lauren H.

One of my new favorites. Good quality, but not the best I've ever had. The reason I enjoy this place is their reasonable prices during happy hour (or Joint Hour), and that they have happy hour on weekends. Whenever I've gone it's not overly crowded, and the service is fast. Sushi chefs are always fun. We've tried the Fullerton roll, Sunrise (our favorite- same as the fullerton roll except has something extra- can't remember sorry lol), Philly (this one is traditional with the Nori on the outside and smaller than the $8 rolls), Thousand Oaks (also traditional and smaller- can't remember what's in this one though). We usually get a teriyaki chicken appetizer as well and it's pretty standard.. very tasty though! My friend that's really knowledgeable about sushi said that the fish tasted really fresh, even though we brought it to her from 30 mins away!

  • Christina B.

This place is my new favorite sushi place in fullerton. The service is incredible, the waitresses will fill your beer into your glass for you...talk about service! The sushi is delicious! The sunrise roll and fullerton roll are my two favorites!

Hey Sushi Joint..I see you guys moved in to Anita's restaurant... I like what you guys done with the place! First impression, a quaint and intimate sushi joint. Not huge but definitely not cramped. They even got a small patio area. Great layout and overall, a nice clean place. Came here on a weekday for lunch and saw their $9.99 Lunch Specials. They got a sushi plate that came with a combination of sushis including salmon and bass. I went for the HAND ROLL lunch special. Pick any 3 for ten bucks. I ordered spicy tuna, spicy albacore, and the Alaskan. You will also be served Miso Soup and salad.. all part of the lunch special. The hand rolls are a good size. I've seen bigger, but these are decent. Plus they don't skim on what matters, the sushi. Both my spicy tuna and spicy albacore were fresh and pretty damn good. When I eat sushi, I just look for freshness, clean taste and texture.. all passed my test. Bravo SJ. The Alaskan was something the waitress told me to try.. and I must say, it was pretty damn good as well. Everything was served nicely and presentation was on point. And they gave enough ginger.. bonus points. I love me some ginger on the side. I loved that they have their own soy sauce dispenser. So.. I still need to try their sushi sushi.. not handroll. So who knows.. maybe my review might change.. But from what I have tasted so far, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Solid 4 stars. Great place!

Well I am usually a calm understanding person when it comes to customer service. However today will be the first time I was truly speechless. After we sat it took around 10-15 minutes to receive attention for water. Normally I would be okay with this seeing how busy they were so I let it go at first. It then took around 15-25 minutes to get our order taken which was odd seeing how small the location is. So I took a look around to see the two waitresses doing saki shot after saki shot leaving their eyes blood shot while on shift. I then understood why our service was so below average. Once we relieved our food we were given no napkins or utensils until I had to go up to retrieve them from their station. Not to mention I did not receive a part of my order. We basically ate as quickly as possible to get out of here due to the loudness and poor service. All I can say about this place in a positive light is the sushi was actually very good. I will not be returning to this location any time soon.

So i visited here on a Sunday 2:00 just as the lunch crowd is diminishing. Order was lost and waited 30 minutes for 2 Bento combos? When the box showed, no teriyaki? Only saw the waitress once and then when she dropped off the check.

I couldn't believe I hadn't posted any reviews on Sushi Joint yet!! My fiance and I first went to Sushi Joint days after it opened and fell in love. The atmosphere: beyond amazing. The art of the sushi place is lost in the cookie-cutter sushi places that can be found everywhere. The chefs and wait staff makes sure to learn names, sit and chat, greet you with a hug or handshake, remember your favorites and make sure you are entertained the entire time. The food: OH I can't mention how delicious the food is enough. My fiance loves sushi and usually tells the chef "make me what your specialty is" and they routinely blow him out of the water. The fish is always fresh and delicious. The cooked entres are amazing as well. I have tried almost everything and haven't disliked anything that is cooked (I am touchy about my raw fish texture). The price: We can be known to have a hefty bill because we order the specials and spend hours at Sushi Joint drinking sake and being entertained. We can also go in and spend under 20 dollars. It is not All You Can Eat. Some people may dislike that but it actually brings higher quality to the dishes. They have Happy Hour from 4-7 every day, including weekends and they have WONDERFUL prices, including $2 handrolls. The Happy Hour dishes are actually dishes that are very popular.

Wow! The food here is incredible! Super small, casual spot but the sushi is worth it. My top 2 recommendations: Four Seasons roll and the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice.

MY FAVORITE NEW SUSHI PLACE IN THE AREA! Great, fresh delicious food. Fun atmosphere with great music playing and cute décor. Chefs are so fun and entertaining. Ask them to make you something. They're so nice and very talented. There are a lot of options! The specials hanging by the door are always good. Great Happy Hour. IF YOU LIKE SUSHI, GO!

  • Noosha S.

Had sushi here today and I was impressed with the quality of the food. They had so many rolls to choose from and such a low price. The food was really good, and it didn't take long for our food to come out. Service was also great.

  • Maribel M.

I'll be honest to say I was never a sushi fan until coming here, its only been my second time but my god I fell in love with some of the sushi there. Its a great little place with a nice decore and the menu is just wonderful. I would highly recommended it to any sushi lover, its a place to go for sure!

  • Adrienne R.

I've always seen this place while I'm on my way to school, but I haven't tried it until today. Everything about it was bomb in good way. The fish was good. All the rolls were good. I forsure want to revisit this place again. The only part that sucked was that they didn't have very many parking spaces, so you would have to park far.

I'm in town for a week and packing and a garage sale before I left town. These two asian guys show up and buy the two surf boards I had. We talk a little bit and said to come by where we work and he will buy us some food...6 hours later "sushi joint" in Fullerton it is. We were expect a hole in the wall, slow and just plain ol sushi. Man!! We were soooo wrong! It was popping off with good vibes and energy! The two asian guys that everyone and there mom, dad, grand ma, papa, kids, babies knew.tells us they own the "joint" We were Blown away! So, If your in Fullerton and hungry or you need food ASAP before your girl or wifey turns into a "freak out spazzing B!#*$H"and need a chill vibe at the sametime popping off restaurant with " crackin sushi" and prices too? and be around good people that are super rad friendly including owners, staff, and local customers? I got 2 words for you. "SUSHI JOINT"

Ahhh I am so pleasantly surprised by Sushi Joint. My bf lives right around the corner so we decided to take a stroll tonight and give this brand spanking new place a try. I wasn't sure what to expect and I have to admit that I had a preconception that this place would probably be like the other sushi fare in downtown Fullerton and just be mediocre and very Americanized. I was wrong. :) I'm not big on sushi rolls and judge a sushi restaurant by the quality of their fish. So we went with the special and some of the chef's suggestions. We ended up ordering the red snapper, hamachi, blue fin tuna, albacore belly, uni sushi, and the salmon skin and salmon hand rolls. First, they hook it up! A very generous helping of the fish with extra mini sashimi pieces as toppings on the sushi and my salmon hand roll had so much salmon in it. I was very happy to see that. Second, I was impressed by the quality. I am not a blue fin tuna fan but I really liked Sushi Joint's selection. It had a good full body flavor instead of a bland one. I was also in heaven eating the uni and that albacore belly... yummm~! I don't think I had an uni sushi with a mountain of uni like that before. I think that Sushi Joint is well rounded to offer sushi rolls for the novice sushi eater and exotic & quality fish for for the picky connoisseurs like myself. The staff were really nice and attentive too. I really like you, Sushi Joint. I definitely look forward to coming back again soon and start being a regular. Till next time guys! Let's not be strangers. :)

OMG! How good was this! Yes, the place is small, but how much room does a person need beyond the width of a chair and a small spot to put these small plates with sushi rolls? And how value driven! The happy hour prices are $4-6 for several of their cut rolls and $3 for some of the hand rolls. The Philly roll had a nice piece of salmon instead of a sliver that you might get elsewhere. Try it out. You will like it.

Review on service not food. Attn management: TURN YOUR AC ON PLEASE. Didn't stay to eat because the temperature inside was hotter than outside. And it is 75 degrees outside today! How gross to sweat while eating sushi! Employee didnt want us to sit outside because there wasn't anyone to serve us yet there was only one other table occupied inside. So lazy! YOU JUST LOST 3 new customers.

Yum yum yum. I read the previous reviews and came in expecting shotty service but was pleasantly surprised. Came in on a Friday at 6 pm and the place was half packed inside. Granted there are only so many tables but I digress. Ordered mainly off the happy hour menu. I'm not a shrimp lover but since their menus don't explain what's in every single roll, you just have to guess or bug the waitress. I ordered the Cheesie-Ebi which is the bomb.com . It's on the happy hour menu and is a cut roll. It has shrimp, crab, cream cheese and is deep fried in tempura batter. Hell freaking yeah! I highly recommend that roll. I ordered veggie tempura and the sweet potato was hard and inedible. A lot of the happy hour rolls come with shrimp. Can't wait to go back. When I left at 7 pm all of the inside seating was taken. Sure you can eat outside but I like the vibe of indoors.

This place is great!! My boyfriend and I got a recommendation from a friend to come here if we were looking for good sushi. The food was surprisingly good with an upbeat and positive environment. The service was phenomenal, and they have happy hour until 7 with good prices for specialty, cut and hand rolls plus a couple dollars off alcohol. I highly recommend the Fullerton roll off the happy hour menu. I'm very picky with my sushi and I loved everything I ordered here!

Came here for Friday night early dinner. This "Joint" wasn't too packed, and had no wait. Clean, cool environment on the inside, completely different than the surrounding area. Service was exceptional. Awesome, friendly staff, attentive, and willing to make suggestions. Sushi was fresh, and served nicely. only complaint was the portions for some were quite small. Naked 4 and Lobster Rolls only had 4 or 5 pieces. Overall, good place for a quick sushi fix.

  • Mina H.

We came here for the first time for dinner. The happy hour is from 4-7PM daily. The happy hour price is very reasonable about $4-8/ handcut rolls. The Fullerton roll and philly roll is really good. Green tea ice cream is good too! Overall, a satisfied experience.

What hapoened?! Fish is still fresh and tasty. Miss soup was bland and tasteless. Was a bit fire and taste was non-existent. Pick up the pace, Sushi Joint, or you will lose a customer.

  • Stone C.

Sushi was good but still searching for really good fresh sushi. The chef knew what he was doing despite the 5 shot of sake he took (in the 45 minutes we were there). There was two creepy dude at the bar when we walked in that had clearly been "seeing" the waitresses. They drank 10+ shots of sake while we were there. Seems like a party place... Kinda threw off the experience for us

  • Natalie G.

The service at this location is great. The staff was welcoming and we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is small but the space is cute and comfortable. The food is on the pricey side but the happy hour is great since you can get specialty rolls for $6-8 and cut rolls for $3-4 on average. We had the Fullerton Roll, Crunch Roll, and Spicy Tuna cut roll all of which were good. I would come back for the happy hour again since the prices are pretty fair during that time and the service was awesome.

Try the New Guy! Or the nine one one!

  • Amber H.

The place is tiny but decent. Parking is in the back but it is hard to manuever in and out. I drive a Honda Civic and felt like I was in Austin Powers trying to reverse and move forward inch by inch. We had the rainbow roll (good), Fullerton roll (okay) and Crunch Roll. Crunch Roll was terrible. It has a insanely sweet taste to it and the "crunch" was almost not edible. I'd go back again but will stay away from the Crunch.

My new sushi spot. Went there on a Friday night. The sushi chief was so fun and create all my favorites. Great place to enjoy the night and the most important thing was how amazing the sushi was. Recommend this place to anyone.

My new favorite sushi place in Fullerton. Happy hour from 4-7 every day on already decent pricing. Delicious sushi and extremely friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

  • Sara E.

What a pleasant surprise. Don't let the weird exterior and odd location fool you. This was very fresh, tasty, and well done sushi. We went for a late lunch/early dinner (around 3:30), so we had the benefit of being the only patrons prior to 4pm when their happy hour started and the crowds started to roll in. Their bluefin sashimi special was delicious, their rolls were very generous and filled with fresh fish, and the service was great. The prices were also reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

    (4)
  • Collette G.

This place is great. Amazing sushi rolls for the price during happy hour. They have a location in Glendale near my work, and I was ecstatic to learn that they opened one in Fullerton. I suggest the Fullerton role and the Sunrise role. The fish is fresh, and the portions are great. You will not be disappointed.

Fun location, good vibe, and good food. Service was also very good. This establishment is brand spankin' new. We were impressed on our first visit. If you are looking for a new dining joint in Fullerton, give it a try! Parking is a little challenging.....after a Sake or two...be careful:)

  • David D.

I've been here twice once to dine in and once for take out. It's just basic sushi none of the more exotic fish. They do have a good happy hour but parking is tough and it's in a ghetto neighborhood.

Great happy hour 4-7 , 7 days a week. The happy hour is a great way to try this place if you haven't been. Try the Fullerton roll - very good. The chefs and servers are mostly from Thailand. Very friendly atmoshere and good sushi. A must try.

I almost hope they don't do TOO well or we'll have to wait in line next time...on the other hand, I want them to stay in business! My favorite new restaurant...without question, the best sushi in Fullerton! Excellent quality food, very friendly service, reasonable prices, clean, upbeat ambience.

For all those that give this place a bad review you need to understand what kind of sushi place you are ordering from....first if you want quite, a place called "the sushi joint" probably isn't it, go to a nice romantic restaurant what did you expect? If you want the best of what a sushi restaurant has to offer don't order the same old rolls you always order from every sushi place off the menu, instead ask the chef's make recommendations....they know what is going to be the best and freshest fish that day. It always blows me away when people want to go to a sushi restaurant order the cheapest items from a sushi menu and complain that the place is terrible. For those of you that do that please go to the all you can eat places that have ruined the sushi experience for those of us that like a piece of fish with our rice! Every time we go to the sushi joint we have a great time and great creations made by the chefs.

We used to go to this place when it was Anita's, the best Mexican food. When we saw Sushi Joint coming soon we were intrigued. Well we've gone back several times and have never been disappointed. Yesterday we ordered their specials and were still a little hungry. Our super friendly and attentive server recommended Fresh Fresh Fresh roll and man was it delicious. Not only is the presentation gorgeous, cucumber wrap rather than seaweed and there was no rice. Did I use the word DELICIOUS yet?? Soooo good. Highly recommend. After reading the reviews I see we must head over for Happy Hour one of these days. YUM!!!!

This place is good if u want decent sushi and u want it cheap. I came with my mom on a Sunday around noon. Let me just say first, the parking lot is TINY, I drive a Honda civic and that's a pretty small car, but it was so hard to park there I was surprised to see there where actually some ppl there. We were greeted right when we walked in and were seated next to the front door. Our server was this kid with glasses, he was ok. I had to ask him twice for some of those chop stick helpers for my mom but whatever. I think their specialty sushi was overpriced for a place with not so good reviews, but their miso is only $1.50. My mom and I got a spicy salmon roll, (from what I remember) the 1000 oaks roll, a holiday roll, and the sunrise roll. Btw the first two were the simpler rolls and the other two were specialty rolls. My mom and I both agree the simpler rolls tasted better than the specialty ones. The holiday roll was really good tho also, the Sunrise was too sweet. I'd go back for the happy hour. Other than that probably not.

Came here for happy hour with some friends. A small, quaint restaurant. The menu had several different cut rolls- if you are looking for an Americanized sushi joint, this is your place. But for authentic Japanese, look elsewhere. I believe this place is Thai owned because they sell Chang beer. Servers were friendly and a good place to get your American sushi roll fix.

Really great happy hour. Good quality fish for the price. The service is awesome! Pete is a great chef who always takes care of us along with Johnny and Nida! Always have a good time and leave with a full belly.

Sushi Joint was a nice experience. I was surprised with the decor along the inside walls considering it is a Japanese reataurant. The 50s decor threw me off a bit; however, indefinitely did not let me stop that from enjoying my foods ^.^ First, we checked in via FB to get a free Thai tea! Then upon looking at the menu we checked out the happy hour menu and came across the cheesee ebi that everyone else on yelp was talking about!! It was delicious :) we also ordered the spider roll and red tuna ebi and came across our new favorite roll. Overall, Sushi Joint was delicious, but for the happy hour prices, you might as well just order a regular roll because there isn't much of a difference.

  • Monica A.

This place is fantastic and the sushi guys are the best. I came here last week with a group of friends and it was delicious. They were taking sake shots with us and even gave us some free ice cream. Woot! Woot! I highly recommend the tower, mango roll, nine one one, Fullerton roll with a glass of Sapporo beer. They seem to have a good happy hour menu going on so don't miss out.

Summary: Good food, good quality, and pretty reasonable prices. Service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is pretty small inside, so if a party of 6 or greater, plan for a wait. There is a small parking lot for the restaurant, and more parking along the street. My family gathered for a birthday dinner to be celebrated at Sushi Joint after my sister had recommended it from previous visits. We arrived at around 5:30pm on a rainy Sunday evening, and had to wait about 25 minutes outside under the awning before a table for the six of us (plus my baby nephew) became available. Once seated, we our drink order was quickly taken while we perused the menu. Because there were three couples, we ordered by couple instead of for the whole table to share (each couple has distinct preferences). This is what my wife and I ordered: Yorba Linda Fantasy - Two large mounds of spicy tuna with some sriracha and eel sauce, on top of two crispy wontons. Pretty tasty, but nothing amazing, and not particularly spicy. Also, not a huge bargain for $11. New guy roll - This was really tasty. An excellent combination of ingredients, nicely portioned, and quite enjoyable. Unagi nigiri - Nice and tender. Toasty and sweet. Standard, but good. Yellowtail belly nigiri - This was a special, and a favorite for my wife. She loved the flavor and texture of the fish. Very well executed. Salmon nigiri - A little chewy, but good. Nicely portioned. The total for all six of us came out to about $118, which isn't bad. I also got to spin the wheel and won a free appetizer for our next visit. Definitely a good place to get quality sushi in the area. We would come back again.

The sashimi was really fresh and the rolls were pretty dank. But the prices were so expensive and my brothers weren't even full yet. I would recommend this place for someone who has money to spend. But for people like me, I wouldn't come here to eat decent food for a price like that. Each roll came with about 5 pieces and the udon was a really really really small portion. If you were to go, I would recommend the sashimi and the lobster roll.

Awesome service and excellent HAPPY HOUR (3-7pm)! This is fusion sushi, and I love me some tasty, saucy fusion rolls every now and again. Our favorites at HH include the Cheesy Ebi (deep-fried with jalapeno, $6), Fullerton Roll ($9), and Sunrise Roll ($9). The so-so rolls include the spicy shrimp and crab ($4), the thousand oaks ($3), and the rainbow ($9). A pitcher of beer at regular price is $17. Come during HH, and they knock off $3. Definitely order the GARLIC edamame - it's like crack, so addicting! Our group of four were fighting over the last bitty pieces, and ended up putting another order in... #fattys Parking is horrid. I suggest carpooling.

This was the last stop on my sushi crawl and another bookmark down. Woohoo! This place is located in the heart of Fullerton right on the corner so you can't miss it. Parking is RIDIC and SUPER DUPER TINY so most peeps parked on the street in the neighborhood or did like I did and parked across the street. Please Note: I don't NOT know if that was ok or not but you can do it AT YOUR OWN RISK! I wasn't planning to stay long so I took my chances and came out unscathed. This place was PACKED OUT and folks were waiting outside for a table inside! There is a NICE patio outdoors that were you can sit when it's open. They even turned on the lights and heaters which was GREAT because it was a bit chili outside. As soon as we walked in we were greeted right away. We told them we want to order some sushi to go and they handed us a menu. My tum-tum was pretty full by this point being that it was the 5th and final stop on the sushi crawl with my Yelp buddy. We had pretty mush ran and sushi gauntlet so we only ordered one roll here and went with a philly roll because we both like cream cheese. We already knew what we wanted since we sort of discussed it as we were walking in and waiting at the place before. We found what we wanted right away and put in our order, paid and waited outside on the patio for our food. Our order came up right away in no time which was GREAT and it was brought to us outside. Since there was space outside we decided to stay and eat. The philly roll was PRETTY BIG. We dove righ tin and YUM, YUM, YUM! VERY FRESH and DELISH! We gobbled up every bite. This is a definitely do-over place. I'd really like to try a few more rolls here as well as some sake. GOOD FOOD and GOOD SERVICE! It a small place so if you plan to try it come early or be patient because there might be a wait.

In the past 4 days, I've gone 3 here times. That's how much I love this place. They have the best Happy Hour (3-7pm). $4 on many cut rolls - including Shrimp Tempura (5 pcs) which has asparagus; the Thousand Oak (5 pcs), which has shrimp tempura + imitation crab; and the plain ol' CA roll (8 pcs). Food is delicious. Price is unbeatable. Service is great.

The food was nothing special. We have had waaaaaay better at similar prices and larger portions. But that's when I was living in the SFV. This is the first sushi spot I've tried in the area so I'm hoping Orange County will have more to offer us. Ordered the Lobster Roll: good, but nothing special. Portion was small and I was expecting more lobster. Ordered the Tower: this was on point. If we ever come back, we definitely would get this again. Ordered the bento combo: again, nothing special. If anything, the sauce on the chicken wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. But again portions are small. Overall, it was whatever.

Good service and sushi hidden gem, also thanks to our waiter that told us its happy hour special 3-7pm we got great food for very affordable to anyone. The taste is excellent and free tea if you check in on Facebook sorry I don't have a Facebook account but feel free to use yours!

This is the best non expensive sushi joint I've ever had. The sushi is the most fresh and tastiest I can find. And note I use to be obsessed with sushi then I fell out of love until I tried this place 2 years later. They have happy hour 3-7pm which I go to: TRY THE CRUNCH ROLL $6 (amazing deal) always ask for spicy mayo because it's so good with the sushi. Crunch Roll (happy hour): crab & cream cheese, tempura shrimp with tempura crunch coating 9/10 Cheese Ebi $6 (happy hour): cheese, crab & cheese, tempura shrimp, imitation crab, jalepeno (not spicy you wont reallly taste it) with seaweed and tempura coasting 10/10 SO AMAZING!

  • Alice X.

So delicious! We came here for Happy Hour (3-7pm daily) and ordered the Nine One One, Sunrise, Fullerton and spicy shrimp & crab roll. The rolls came out fast! The sushi chefs look like hipsters and not like your traditional sushi chefs! It's awesome! I'll come here again if I'm in the area!

Excellent! My friend Julies and I went there for lunch. My first time and loved it! Sushi was very fresh. Loved the Sexy ladies roll and Sunset on ash roll. Definitely get the garlic Edema if you are not worried about your date. Yummy yummy! Service was also great 5 stars. Very friendly atmosphere.

Happy Hour is a must! Discounted rolls and beer make this girl very happy! We ate dinner here yesterday and our waiter suggested we try Orion, a premium Japanese beer. Very light and delicious! We sat at the bar, a first for us here, as the place was hopping for happy hour specials. The chef said hello and told us to tell him what we wanted to order. This was nice as we could order rolls over the evening, not all at once. We also requested to watch the Anaheim Ducks game and the waiter was more than willing to change the tv station. Overall great customer service and affordable prices for tasty sushi and lots of it!

    - Locale Destination - It's on S Harbor Blvd and E Ash Ave in Fullerton. It's located at the corner of the streets, close to "Costco" (on the same side). They have a very small parking behind the restaurant, yet lots of street parking available nearby str

This place is pretty small. It was just a party of two on a week day afternoon and we were on a wait. They also have a ton of patio space on the outside which they don't seem to utilize at all for outside seating. The food is good. I like how they have no problem manipulating an order to make you happy. I don't eat a whole lot of rice, so I ask them to wrap the rolls I ordered in cucumber instead and they didn't have a problem doing it. They do charge you for the changes though ($2 for cucumber wrap). The food is good. I feel like they go a little overboard on the sauces sometimes though. I tend to get them on the side now. The fish is already good, you don't need to drown it in 3-5 different sauces. The miso soup tastes like it's freezer burnt. It's so weird. I really didn't like it and I actually sent it back. They ALSO didn't have the oysters in the half shell, which are on the menu and are my FAVORITE. I was really disappointed about that. They have some sparkling sake that the server recommended and is really good. It tastes just like Perrier. The service is alright but they just kind of take your order and don't really ask how you are it anything. In the end, everything about this place has to be modified for me to like. I don't really feel like there's anything special about this place compelling me to come back.

  • Diana T.

I would only come here for happy hour and that is what I did! Although I didn't order everything off the happy hour menu, the majority of the food was ordered from that menu! Sunrise Roll: Spicy shrimp, crab, and avocado inside, tuna outside with creamy, sweet and spicy sauce topped with masago and onions. This was a pretty good roll! Big and filling B.S.C. Roll- California roll topped with baked scallop n mayo with sweet sauce. This was by far one of the best ones I've had. If you like mayo, this is definitely for you! Not on happy hour menu though Nine One One-Spicy Tuna and cucumber inside, avocado outside with spicy mayo and spicy chili oil. This is a pass. Nothing to special. Good service, small place but quite quaint. I would come here again!

Good food, great service! Ordered salmon, albacore belly, bluefin tuna, and unagi nigiri, as well as sunrise ash roll and salmon aburi roll. Everything came out quick & fresh. Also - seemed to be the only sushi place open on Sunday.

One of the better sushi places in Fullerton. Definitely recommend this place over chomps. Chomps is overpriced and noisy. Sushi joint is a small little place and the food is great. The decor is pretty random. From Japanese beer signs to route 66 signs, a golf club on the wall and an antique armoir among other things. Parking is scarce so it's best to come at non rush hour hours. Quality and service is great!

Place was cute, food was pretty good. Service was quick, even with a full house. Has a large TV, a football game was on. Sushi chefs were friendly, the garlic edamame was awesome! 2 out of 3 of the rolls we got were good, one lacked any flavor.

Yummy!! Good sushi for a decent price right outside of Downtown Fullerton! The cheesee ebi is my favorite roll here! I get it everytime I come in. Last night I also tried the 911 roll which was interesting...and very spicy! A lot hotter than i expected. I would get it again though. The Good Guy Roll was also delicious! Really good flavor and I lobe the tempura flakes and the sauce that comes on it! Service was great! Our server was friendly and on top of things. Definitely recommend this place!

We came here last night for dinner and we were the only customers in the place... because of the fight and it was a late dinner! We sat at the sushi bar area and we chatted it up with the head chef. He was really nice and all the staff there were nice. I just told him to make me whatever he wanted and he delivered with that. He got creative and made me some various rolls which were bomb but I really don't remember what it was called. I did order a salmon skin hand roll and also some sashimi which included blue fin tuna. Super good. What was even nicer was that my wife is vegetarian and he was able to make her some veggie rolls with a twist. He was creative in adding different ingredients in and it wasn't your standard avocado cream cheese roll. Even though we got that too. The prices here are reasonable and the quality is good. I highly recommend coming here!

The Best Place to get Sushi! Hands down! Our server was "Oak" real cool dude. Great service! The sushi was beyond what my girlfriend and I expected! My favorite roll is the "Cheese Epi" has cheese jalapeño and I don't know what else right now but it was soo worth getting! TRY IT! we ended our dinner w/ the Mochi Ice Cream. I really recommend this place! Especially for bringing a hot date like I did tonight! :)

I come here quite a bit, it is right near my sister's house so we love to come for lunch together. The staff is super friendly and always down to share some sake bombs with you. :) This last Saturday we took our Dad and the owner was making our sushi and ALL the fish was fresh. It was awesome. He told us which fish just came in and WOW! such a difference. Soft and melted like butter. They also have fresh wasabi they put on top, it''s super spicy but it's really good. The Yellowtail belly, Halibut and Sweet shrimp were my favorites. They always add a little extra for us or let us know what's really good at the time. I really only order what's on the board and NO ROLLS but they do have that option. Loyalty goes a long way here, so come often and get hooked up. Keep up the great work! My sis and I will be back for more.

First time here and I've been looking around this area for good sushi. Stumbled across this place while searching on yelp and decided to try it. Really like this place as there is so much flavor. Tried the blue fin tuna, ono, midnight, fresh fresh fresh, and the garlic edamame. Overall very satisfying however when I asked for the ono, I expected it to be sashimi but it was marinated and slightly seared on the outside. The sunrise and fresh fresh rolls were impeccable, as well the garlic edamame highly recommended it.

  • Cat N.

Very very good. Wasn't let down from what I've heard from a few friends. Known about this spot since summer last yr. Ended up running into some friends as well. The Seared Albacore Sashimi was to die for. Melted in my mouth n the sauce it's drenched in is soo good, don't even need soy sauce. The spicy chicky roll was not great n crunch roll had too much rice with only a tempura shrimp & piece of asparagus in the middle. The fresh, fresh, fresh, roll wrapped with cucumber was very good but hard to pick up. The garlic edamame was very good, oh man. Crispy garlic toppings with Japanese chili peppers. Server was funny, very nice. Def coming back to try more from the menu.

I've been coming here regularly for a year so I owe them a review by now. This is my go-to, favorite sushi joint (pun intended). One of my favorite parts about this place is the friendly and casual environment when you walk in. Service is fantastic - chefs greet you when you enter and say goodbye when you leave, very friendly and enjoy conversation, order sake bombs and they'll take some with you then go right back to slicing up fish. Great quality fish and original rolls. I usually try to make it for Happy Hour 4-7pm daily - my favorite roll just happens to be on that menu - Sunrise Roll will change your life. I recommend the special menu - Godzilla and Angel roll are really good - also the Midnight or 911 roll if you like spicy. I've never had had a bad experience and I come A LOT. 5/5 stars.

  • Annie D.

This place is a little more expensive than usual but during happy hour "joint hour" there rolls are pretty cheap. Only some rolls are on the happy hour menu. At first when I got there it was pretty sketchy. The entrance is in the back and I parked in the neighborhood because the lot only has like 5 parking spots. Inside is pretty small and really loud. But overall nice. It was clean. I got the 911 roll, salmon cut roll, and the sunrise on ashes. The salmon roll was soo teeny and mostly rice and the seaweed was soft and soggy. The 911 roll was good but it was a little too spicy after I ate the third on my mouth was burning. And the chili powder they put on was a little salty. But overall it was good. The sunrise was my fave from the 3. It was sweet but not too sweet. The only problem was they took a while to bring out the rolls. They had like 2 or 3 sushi chefs but the place was small so I didn't understand why it took so long. The service was good. They checked up on me a lot and were friendly. Overall it was just an ok experience

  • Karen S.

You know at some restaurants, you're constantly having to flag down the server just to get some water? This place is the exact opposite of that. Fast, friendly attentive service (maybe a little too attentive) but the sushi was pretty good. Will likely be back!

  • Corissa G.

I came to this place expecting great things based off of what I read as far as the reviews, when I left I was extremely dissatisfied. I have been to many excellent sushi places, but none of them had crab that tasted so bland in their California roll, sea weed that was so tough that I couldn't enjoy my Salmon roll or miso that had mushrooms and tasted as bad as what I had experienced here. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I will not be darkening the door of this establishment ever again.

I'm not a sushi snob, but I am really into sushi/sashimi eater. Usually, I prefer traditional omakase. I am the type of person that thinks $80 per person for a dinner omakase is a GREAT deal. That being said... hooray! I like their rolls! VERY American - smeared with delicious sauce, all sorts of yummy extras. I forgot what roll I ordered, but the patron and the waiter both recommended it to me. It has fish and masago on top, and was a little spicy. Maybe the fresh fresh fresh roll? Doesn't matter. I think the roll was good, and most of the sushi was fresh (my friend ordered the sushi platter). I did have a problem with one of the fish slices-- it was mushy in a way I dislike. However, the rest of the seafood was delicious, so I will chalk it to one not so good slice. I can't wait to come back. I love Japanese food in general, and watching the chefs make the food is a bonus because I can tell that it's pretty fresh.

I've been to sushi places where you can drop $500 on a couple of plates in one night. I've been to all you can eat buffet style sushi places. This is my favorite sushi place in all of Orange County because the rolls are constructed beautifully and the flavor profile of these rolls. My favorites are the Fullerton and the Super Rainbow rolls. Btw, I was here during the 5.1 earthquake that scared me but I was willing to return 5 times now for the sushi.

Let me just start off with saying I am the sushi queen and sushi inspector! I am always open to try new sushi spots but NOTHING compares to this one. I discovered this place about a year ago, and let me just say this is BY FAR THE BEST SUSHI I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!! You can count my word on it, it really is amazing. I am very strict when it comes to sushi. No other places satisfy my taste buds the way that this place does. My absoliute favorite roll is definitely the New Guy roll, followed by holiday roll, sexy ladies roll, and the crunch roll! I highly recommend this place. Best sushi around!

This place has the best happy hour around. It's 4-7 pm, seven days a week. And they're proud of it and happily tell you about it :) The sushi comes out pretty quickly and they have big portions. Usually my husband and I have a couple of drinks, order a few rolls, and end of with a tab of about $30. We've never had to wait for able. The lot doesn't have much parking at all -- your best bet is parking on the side street.

  • Michele W.

Very delicious and fresh fish! The salmon skin salad was soo good and the firely albacore is to die for. They also had really good sake and a nice selection of bottled beers. Did I mention they bring you new glasses everytime? It was pretty exiciting to me to see since I've never seen that before.

The sushi is fresh and the Saporo is cold! That's the great news. If I had to come up with a pitfall I would have to say that sometimes the staff has to be reminded that you have an order in. However, I've never felt unwelcome.

I haven't written a review in a long while but this is definitely worthy sharing. I went here to grab a quick bite and get my sushi fix on since Sushi Pop was closed (I highly recommend Sushi Pop, it's clean, great service, and their rolls are always on point... Plus the chief, MJ always comes out with sake shots on the house!!). Anyways... I got to Sushi Joint and I've been here a few times before and it's been one of the better sushi places in Fullerton. As my boyfriend and I sat there contemplating on what to order... We looked over and saw our server picking her nose!!!!!!!! She wasn't just going at it with one finger but her index finger AND thumb!!!! Seriously?!!! While we were sitting right there?! It wasn't even in the back kitchen... She was about three feet from us. At that point I was completely disgusted!!!!My boyfriend and I were contemplating on how we can best address this without humiliating her and not make it obvious but I just couldn't even wrap my head around how she can bring my food out with her filthy index finger and thumb... I thought about asking her to wash her hands but if she is that daring to get those suckers out in front of customers who's to say she would even thoroughly wash her hands?! I just had to let her know that we caught her snot handed. I asked my boyfriend to down his beer and I asked for the check. She seemed a bit confused when I asked for the check and asked me, "so you don't want to order?" I told her "I actually saw you pick your nose and cannot bear the thought of you bringing out our food. I just want the check because I just can't eat anything here." She said "ok, no problem" and brought us our check and then our change. We didn't even want to grab our change at that point but we made sure we soaked our hands in hand sanitizer before we got Two Saucy Broads which is an amazing pizza place you should try as well! There aren't any nose pickers here!!!!!

This place is really good. Driving buy everyday I never thought of stopping in to try it out until a customer of mine recommended it. I love this place. It's on the small side but the atmosphere is really cool. The chefs are creative also. They made a special roll for my girlfriend who doesn't really like seafood and it was amazing.

This was our second time here for the sake of being close to home. Our waitress was cute and nice but was very slow at bringing you what you asked for . Our "appetizer " came after out main course and the fried calimari we had was super hard and stuck together . It was super flavorless ! The green tea smelled oddly like a fish market . It gets three stars only because the scallop roll was delicious the rest was ok. The decor sucks and the they don't care to much for ambience . Overall it was expensive and a dull hum drum experience ... Comes with free diarrhea! Must have been the scallop rolls ...

This is an awesome little place. If you're a fan of spicy food, you'll like they're original, fresh sushi rolls covered in awesome sauces. I can't recommend anything because I try something new every time and every time it's really, really good. I have no complaints about this place whatsoever.

Fresh tasting rolls. The spicy tuna rolls are pretty spicy but in a good way. The hand rolls are really good for what they are. Will definitely be back to try other rolls.

Loving this new sushi spot. The happy hour special is so outrageously good, I really don't know why anyone would go there any other time. I'm pretty sure it's every day from 4-7 pm. Rolls are deeply discounted and absolutely delicious. Without having the menu in front of me, I'm recalling that the 911 and Sunrise were my favorites. There's a chickee and cheesee that are also pretty great. I'm sure I'm botching those names but if you're looking at the menu, that should help steer you. The sushi chefs are incredibly welcoming and fun. They're also good sports when taking some smack talk during a Dodger game. Definitely go for the happy hour. It's gotta be one of the most flexible ones in town with a payoff of their best rolls. Totally unlike most sushi happy hours which are usually an odd window of times (3-5??) and features their least popular and/or most basic rolls with barely any fish.

  • Dee Dee G.

Delicious and fresh sushi. Nice spot with bomb sushi. Get the salmon sushi, 911 and the sexy ladies roll...they're all bombay. It's a bit pricey but good. All 3 with 2 miso soups came out to about 45. Great place located near Downtown Fullerton.

If you enjoy a tremendous amount of sauce and mayo to hide the flavor and quality of the fish, this is the place to go. Good for saucy rolls, not for sushi. Disappointing meal.

Ok came here for the 1st time and i gotta tell you...it was the one the best sushi places ive been to. Although i gave it a 4 star rating its a 5 for food but the place is small and parking is limited. The happy hour prices 4-7pm are great, i think ordered 5 different cuts from the menu and all came out quick and fresh! Service is great, noise level is good and place is clean. I will return again for another night of good food...

Sushi was good. Waitress was on top of things except she wasn't friendly until she noticed we were dissatisfied with how she was taking our requests . There were 4 of us. We asked to change tables because of the sun hitting our table and then she made a face, I asked for a "Cali roll" she made a "what the heck is that" kind of face. This is why I'm giving 3 stars for service and descent sushi.

Pete is a great sushi chef and very friendly as is the staff! Happy hour is a bargain....excellent choice and tasty rolls. I have been here several times and fish is always fresh..... Parking is limited but we'll worth a visit!

First time here I ordered from the happy hour menu. Each item was so good! The sunrise and 911 roll with some hand rolls from the menu completed my satisfaction! Not going to lie but pricing here for the quality is way worth it. Only bad thing is finding a place to park lol

Definitely an average sushi place. The fullerton roll was surprisingly good though.

Ate here for lunch. First thing we noticed was the smell. It was really bad and we thought about leaving but ended up just sitting and ordering the cut roll lunch special for $13.95. It included the following: Tuna Roll Spicy Tuna Roll Tempura Shrimp Roll Miso Soup Salad The tuna was in the tuna roll was actually pretty good. The spicy tuna was very sparse as was the tempura shrimp. All-in-all, the place was ok but probably won't come back.

Let's start with how warm it was inside. A sushi place should be cool, to keep the sushi cold. It was not very comfortable. Our waitress did not seem to want to serve us. When we got our first set of rolls (California) they were room temp like they have been sitting out for awhile(gross). However the rest of the food was good and the green tea was awesome. I just wish that the restaurant manager would turn on some AC.

I have came here about 4 times and loved it but this last time I came(yesterday) I saw 3 cockroaches while I was there and some type of fruit fly look a like that was on my sushi and I grabbed and killed myself. It was the most discussing thing ever. I just took my bill payed and left and I shouldn't have even payed. To have seen two cockroaches around the floor and then a third one crawl under my menu ON the table and then to top it off some bug on the sushi. I couldn't have been more displeased and disgusted.

Wanted to try this restaurant for the first time. I came on a Friday night and maybe that was a bad idea. It was very loud as soon as I came in. A couple of guests were having a good time which I can understand them being loud. But the sushi chefs were even louder. They were laughing and talking so loud, I could barely hear the waitress asking for our order. I had to ask her to repeat what she asked me. The food was decent but I had an unpleasant time. My boyfriend and I had a hard time talking to each other and understanding each other. Horrible! When I go to a restaurant, I want it pleasant and a bit more peaceful.

I am so happy to have finally found a sushi place I respect and like. I have been looking for the past year and a half of living in North Orange County for somewhere that has good pricing, cozy clean ambiance and thoughtful flavor profiles for their menu, not to mention attentive, enthusiastic service. I had the Fresh Fresh Fresh Roll, the Midnight Roll, Spicy Albacore Hand Roll and the Spider Hand Roll with a friend- all done artfully with really creative new sauces which left me saying "that makes so much sense!". Thank you Sushi Joint I will be back with friends! Did I mention they have a great Sushi and Drink happy hour from 4-7 every day?

Great place Great food! Great service! Best happy hour in the area! The raimbow roll was delicious! The servers were very friendly I highly recomwnd this hole in the wall restaurant to anyone who likes sushi. The happy hour deals are great! Try the "fullerton roll"

Sexy Ladies Roll is my favorite! The staff is all very friendly and attentive to the tables. We will be back!

This place is nothing special. Expensive sushi that was good and I had to wait awhile for my togo order to be ready. In addition, the parking could be better.

Good options and reasonable prices. Anything that has the name 'belly' next to it is really good

This place opened right near work so we gave it a shot over lunch. First, we ordered a ton of food. The portions were generous. The food tasted really fresh. They had an all day happy hour which made everything very affordable, which was a nice bonus. There were some creative rolls, which I always enjoy trying The only downside was that server was difficult to communicate with, but she appeared to be trying hard and in the end we got what we needed. We do plan to go back.

One of the best sushi places I've found in the Fullerton area. Service was good. The restaurant is clean. Food came out quickly. The sushi was fresh and delicious. We ordered 4 rolls: The sunrise, the Fullerton, 911, and shrimp tempura. Their tempura ice cream looked and tasted amazing. happy hour is every day between 4-7PM. The rolls cost anywhere between $4-$8. We will definitely be returning!

  • Tamara T.

It's small, laid back, and has beer and sushi. Straight to the point.

  • Kara E.

The happy hour is a plus, as most rolls are featured and it saves you about $3-$4. Service was attentive and friendly, had a larger family party of 6 but he never missed a beat. They recently took over this space and the work done to the building is great. Has a fresh, clean look inside and out now. The food was all very good, fresh and tasty. We sampled a wide variety of the food, as a couple people in the party went with steak teriyaki bento box dinners since they do not care for fish but we actually got them to try some and they really liked it. Converted! The seared tuna sashimi was good. We ordered a Fullerton roll as it's description is mild and we were eating with a couple kids. It has shrimp tempura inside and tuna on the outside. Another roll we had was the 911 but it wasn't as spicy as we expected. Also had some yellow tuna belly which was very good. I will come back again and am happy to have a clean, friendly, good quality and tasty sushi joint in the neighborhood now.

3.5 stars. Came here after we walked out of a BBQ restaurant in Downtown Fullerton so we were starved! I had the Fresh Fresh Roll. It was various fish wrapped in cucumber with no rice. The roll tasted bland and didn't taste like the ones like that I've had at other places. Chicken bento box was decent and came with a California roll with fresh tuna decorated on top. Was pretty good. I also had the blue crab hand roll. It was fresh crab and was pretty good! Several months ago I came here and had the four season roll to go- @$12. It was five pieces and only tasted ok. It was covered with crunchy flakes so was hard to tell if sushi tasted fresh inside. Wouldn't get it again. The inside of the restaurant is clean and decorated cute. A very casual atmosphere. The rolls ranged from $10-13. Service was good.

Driving to downtown Fullerton earlier today, I noticed this place with a grand opening sign out front and decided to check it out after reading some of the reviews. It turned out to be a really good call. The place had a casual and fun vibe to it and the food was very fresh. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Bowl, which was a nice size bowl of rice with a good amount of spicy tuna on top. We also ordered the four season roll, which was also a good size portion and reasonably priced. Although we missed the Happy Hour specials, it seems like they had some really good deals on many of the menu items and discounted beer. Service was very friendly and the prices were in line with the quality of food. We will definitely be back.

Came here today for my birthday and was very satisfied like the other few times I have been here. Great service, awsome happy hour( 4pm to 7pm), good parking, and fresh fish. Fullerton roll was bomb, nine one one was tasty, and 2 duckets off beer. Chomp is over rated! Lived in Fullerton 12 years. Nice simple bday dinner, with lots of flavor. The spicy tuna had a good kick unlike most places.

  • Berton M.

I really like this place. The sushi is outstanding and the prices are great. For happy hour 3-7pm they have a wide selection of rolls that are only $4. You can't beat that. The service is also outstanding and the sushi chef is really nice. This is the perfect place to hit before going for a few drinks in downtown Fullerton.

Work on it.... This place is horrible.... Worse sushi place I have ever been to.... Sushi is to dry no flavor on my way to lees because I am still hungry.....

The service was wonderful. The establishment was clean and nicely decorated. Now the food! !! We had three rolls. All were delicious. The 9-1-1 was spicy and the tune was fresh and tasty. Had a salmon on fire. Not a roll but wow. Sweet n spicy highly recommend this place for happy hour.

  • Ana P.

The food is okay. The sushi guy needs to learn how to roll sushi better. Ambiance is too loud, decor doesn't go with what they serve but the servers and the chef are nice.

    (3)
  • David C.

Food: Sushi Joint is not bad, but its not incredibly good. The slices of fish on top of the rolls are a bit thin for my liking and the rice in the rolls are overwhelming. The Happy Hour Menu is pretty robust with many choices and rolls. Customer service: The restaurant is cozy and that allows the waiters to come and help you at all times. Music: The best part of the restaurant would be the great music they played. I am a top 40 kind of guy and also an EDM kind of guy, so it was nice to hear some great songs while enjoying some good drinks with some good company. I would go back to eat and hang out, but not my favorite place to go to satisfy my growing sushi cravings.

Sushi cannot get better. The parking? Maybe, but this is about the sushi and it is fantastic. Happy hour from 4-7pm makes this the best deal in town.

  • Andrea C.

The sushi was great as always but one of the waitress was pretty rude when I ordered to go, everyone else was super nice and they got my order done pretty fast. I had the California roll and 1000 oaks, pretty much the same but still was fresh and tasty!

  • Kat K.

This is the best sushi in the Fullerton area. Top that with an awesome happy hour? Done. Definitely a new weekly haunt. The servers are very nice and attentive, and the service is quick. I definitely recommend this place, happy hour or not.

  • Brandon K.

I have always had awesome service. The food is always fresh and the sushi chef likes to mix things up. I highly recomend the happy hour. Grab a beer for 2 bucks and an awesome roll, come on. Stop by on your way to down town.

My wife and I stopped by on Friday night and had a great time. The quality of the food is great and the prices are just right! Really fun atmosphere and we'll definitely be back again. I think the the "Joint Hour" is from 4PM-7PM when you can get some good deals on food, beer and sake.

The food was fresh and the service was prompt and friendly. Take advantage of the happy hour prices; it's a good deal.

  • Shant R.

This place is very friendly and interactive. Pretty cheap too. The sushi its self is not that good. If you're into quality and traditional sushi, this place is not the place for you. But it's good for what it is.

Was looking for a good "sushi joint" in Fullerton area and noticed that this place was converted into Sushi Joint. Nice and quaint. Greeted by chefs as soon as we came in. Food was very good. Nine one one had a nice kick at the end of it. Also had tempura, edemame (could use some salt or spicy kick, but that's just me) and a crunch roll. All was tasty and fresh. Can't wait to come back for Happy Hour

I really wanted to give this place an awesome rating buttttt there was a small spider crawling on the wall that was noticed after being sat for 10 min... I was about to give them the benefit of the doubt except that later on there was a fly hovering around the place that just so happened to plop itself in my soy sauce. Yep. I would like to also give them the benefit of the doubt on that and assume it flew in when customers were walking in, but 2 bug incidents in 1 dinner isn't what I was looking forward to. Other than those bugs trying to say hello, the staff was really nice and super helpful. The Super Rainbow Roll was satisfying. It's also a small place but they do have patio seating as well.

    (3)
  • Leslie K.

The quality of the food exceeded my expectations (I was expecting something like Nikko Nikko). The sushi was fairly fresh and they use high quality ingredients, especially for the miso soup. The service was good and the lunch special prices were great.

So..I think this is my new favorite "sushi joint"! After looking at all the other yelp reviews on other sushi places, my husband and I decided to come here. Very intimate little restaurant, but that's how we like it. This place was so cute and modern. The service was awesome, the food was fresh and so good and the price (Happy hour) was inexpensive! Definitely coming back when we're having a sushi craving!! P.S. Order the Iced Green Tea...so refreshing!!!

  • OC Dave M.

Ok this place is Outstanding!!!! Very Comfortable atmosphere, small but very well lay'd out. Everything we try'd was Great! The Fullerton roll and Alaskan roll are 2 of my Favorites, also the ginger sauce that came with the salad just had so much flavor made me want another salad . Take a minute and stop by here for Sushi and a beer, you won't be disappointed . Last thing, I asked for a special roll and they made it for me so if you have a favorite from somewhere else just ask and they will create it for you.

This location has been closed for a long time and I am more than happy with what has become The Sushi Joint. Everything has been remodeled and it looks great inside. Friendly service with great fresh quality. Prices are average but the happy hour menu is a good value.

  • T G.

Solid 3 1/2 stars. I'm bumping it up a half for the friendliness and attentiveness of staff but other than that I was under whelmed. I think I over hyped myself due to all the other rave reviews. My dinner companion felt the same way so I know I was not solo on this. Maybe we just came on the wrong night. Either way we will be sticking to Orange Roll and Sushi for our sushi fix.

I went an hour before happy hour. It was close to where we were so we stopped by. Very few people were there and it wasn't difficult to find parking. The menu had no pictures. I asked the chef, Vince, what kind of albacore rolls they have, he suggested the full moon, which wasn't on the menu, he described it to me and it sounded delicious. I also ordered a New Guy for my friend seeing as he found sushi disgusting, & this was one of the many cooked rolls. I also ordered stuffed mushrooms as our appatizer. We didn't wait to long, we got our rolls before we got our appetizers. The rolls were delicious! Extremely yummy, & my friend absolutely loved his ^.^. The stuffed mushrooms were yummy too. They were a mix of fresh, soft, crunchy, warm, & cold. After we ate our rolls, we got mochi for dessert. Super yummy and tasted fresh. Not fresh fresh like mochiloto fresh but not the type you bye at starter bros or Costco either. The bill ended up coming to a little over $40, which is the average I've paid for sushi for 2. If I'm around I'm definitely coming by again.

I've been looking for a local sushi place that has a fun atmosphere and, of course, good sushi. The sushi is good and generous with the fish. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. This is my favorite place for sushi in the area. A great place to kick back, grab a beer and have some sushi.

Happy hour everyday 4-7. great rolls huge pieces. Sunrise roll is a must, chili oil tahini fresh tuna on top. $3 hand rolls, again fresh and.great portions. they have $4 philly rolls if that is your thing. Oh $4 large chang beer, asahi, Sapporo, $2 off hot sake. Service also was spot on, we were greeted immediately, seated immediately, and the food came out promptly. Would come back again next time I'm in this area!

LOVE IT HERE! EXCELLENT menu selection and GREAT prices! Clean, cozy, and fun little place! Nice and cool inside, doesn't smell fishy or feel stuffy. KICK-ASS HAPPY HOUR MENU. Owner/Mgmt. is always very friendly and makes sure we feel welcome and are happy. 20 minute drive for me and totally worth it. Officially my favorite casual quick sushi place in O.C.

Their yellowtail was not fresh and smelled bad. I couldn't finish it. I was sad. Their rolls are fine, but one star because of the bad fish. Sorry.

When you come visit this joint, make sure you know what your ordering, the girls don't speak to good of English and push you to buy something that is completely different then what your wanting. In my case, is what happen to me :( nice location, but the girls need to be trained properly and know the menu and how to explain what's on the menu based on your questions.

Why cant there be a NEGATIVE button! So after driving past this place on a daily , they finally open and boy was I excited to give it a try (not being sarcastic) since I am an avid Sushi lover. Sushi Joint is conveniently located next to a used car dealership (perv central) and the parking was very minimal in the back so we ended up having to park on the street and walking. I was not surprised at how small and cramped the seating was inside because over all it is a small place. We were greeted and seated by a middle age women/girl with spontaneous ugly tatts on her arms and most likely else where, her make-up was caked on and wasn't helping hide the LV bags under her eyes. Not quite the picture I would like to see before eating but hey everyone's got to make those dollars. As we gazed through the menu nothing jumped out at me, just the normal horrible attempt to make poorly inspired rolls hoping it will catch on. But after all they are all the same as every other fly by night Sushi restaurant just named different. After waiting for 15 minutes in the corner seating we were given I stared looking for our server to bring the drinks we had ordered, and that was when i saw it! The chef wiped his nose picked a piece of raw fish smelt it (while touching his nose) and tossed back into the pill of fish. OMG I was ready to leave! But since i was not driving and was convince to stay by my date. So I figured I would play it safe and order the chicken bento with spicy albacore, and not being able to talk my date out of it she ordered sashimi. We finally received our drinks and placed our order. The food came out and was drench in this yellowish orange sauce I have no idea what it is but it was all over everything. My chicken was freezer burned and dry the spicy albacore had to have been made a week prior not just form the smell but it was falling apart and the seaweed was moist and soft. Her sashimi was rubbery and had a horrible stench of rotten eggs. Our food was COMPLETELY UN EDIBLE . At that time we were definitely ready to leave , we left all our food on the table mostly uneaten and didn't hesitate to walk up to the front instead of waiting to pay the bill. Over all our experience was horrible and i would never go back and highly recommend no one dines there. This is just another down town Fullerton pop up hole in the wall which will likely (and hopefully) close in the near future. So please take as YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DON'T EAT AT SUSHI JOINT. btw I did leave a tip out of pity

This place is great. I think it is a Thai Owned Sushi place. The server here is great. I have been here several times and have taken my friends here. The food is awesome and a good value especially during happy hour. Id recommend the Sunset and Fullerton Rolls. My favorite is the Sunset Roll. I also liked the BSC of the regular priced rolls. The lobster roll was okay but kinda small. I didnt like the Assorted Sashimi. It wasnt a good value given what it was and the prices of the other rolls. But im not going to ding them for that. They are actually more of a roll place than a sashimi place in my eyes. Overall a good place. I like Orange Sushi but this is right up there just on price alone and friendly service. Id recommend this place to anyone :D

It's Monday night and my wife and I have the place to ourselves! The sushi is 5++++ but I can only vote five stars max. This is our second time here. The staff is super friendly and one sushi San sings as he creates amazing works of art with the fish and garnishes! We received a couple of special items and we felt like we were the king and queen of Fullerton with the royal treatment! The sushi joint is our joint now!! Thank you for a great Monday night impromptu date night guys!!!

I've driven past Sushi Joint in Fullerton numerous times, and never thought much about it...but my brother-in-law suggested we go there for a Mother's Day dinner. The fish was fresh, the rolls were delicious, and kids even enjoyed the bento boxes. I also can't forget the service...our waitress and waiter were on top of their game, never had us waiting. If I had not eaten so much at a Mother's day lunch a few hours earlier...I probably could've enjoyed Sushi Joint a lot more. I will definitely stop by again.

Considering I had to look at their yelp page to remember what this place was i'm sure there was nothing that memorable about this place. But I am pretty picky about sushi. I think my friends and I came here for HH. It was just ok but I guess if you're in a pinch and want to fulfill your sushi craving, this will do. I honestly haven't been to a good sushi place in Fullerton. But I admit, this is better than Chomp.

Came here for the first time with my best friend before and then forgot about this place. Other than that, I tried this place out again when my boyfriend and I were looking for a quick sushi spot. My boyfriend and I are big kumamoto and uni fans and they are fantastic here which is why we keep coming back! We are uni-picky. :) And we will wipe out the uni here. So far it has the best uni I can find in Fullerton or anywhere near Fullerton. We tried other things here before: Toro, Yellowtail belly, Live amaebi are all good as well. We normally like yellowtail collar but it is a bit subpar here. Seaweed salad is good and usually fresh. Come during happy hour! I forget when it is. I think it was every day during.. I don't remember. Maybe 4-7? I guess just call beforehand. Large beers and large hot sake is cheaper but we just get the beers here. All the servers and sushi chefs are friendly and helpful. Especially John. Oh and you can carry your beer out to the front porch area while you smoke your cigarette. Best part ever.

The environment is like no other. You walk in with shouts of 'HELLO's!' You can't help but to smile when you're here. The cooks are friendly. They visit with you and explain the menu and different things you should/can get. The sushi and edamame with garlic is UH-MAY-ZING! Oh, you won't regret coming here. Not only is the food delicious and the people are extremely friendly, but the prices felt well worth it too!

SASHIMI: Oh man the sashimi here was so good, smooth, and BUTTERY. We got the ~$24 sushi joint sashimi plate and it came with 3 pieces each of Salmon, Tuna, Seared tuna, Albacore (belly I think), and Ono. Damn the Albacore and Ono were particularly delicious. I usually already love sashimi but this one made me so happy. It was definitely good quality fish. ROLLS: We got the Crab.com , Fresh Fresh Fresh, Sunrise On Ash, and Spider Roll. Honestly, I was only okay with the rolls...I'd probably only go back for the sashimi. -Fresh fresh fresh was pretty special with no rice or seaweed at all; it was all fish and everything was wrapped with cucumber instead...so this one was pretty cool. -Sunrise on Ash was really ordinary and it was basically the sushi with spicy imitation crab inside that you can find everywhere. except that this had fish on top that you couldn't taste anyway bc of the strong spicy mayo on the inside. I followed yelp highlights for this.. -Crab.com & Spider roll...i've definitely eaten better soft shell crab rolls elsewhere ): SUSHI: -Albacore belly (2pc): because we wanted more after the sashimi plate, we got the albacore belly sushi as well. yum really good! but I'd probably get just sashimi next time because the rice takes away some of the flavor. -Salmon roe (2pc): pretty standard..can't mess this one up! COMBINATION PLATE: We also ordered the combination lunch with Beef N Chicken Teriyaki plus Crunchy roll (5pc). The crunchy roll was good but don't order the beef and chicken teriyaki! It was honestly kind of dry, especially the chicken. So basically I only like the sashimi here. The rating would have been lower but the sashimi, the great service and presentation, (but especially the sashimi), are definitely strong enough to make me overlook the other things...so four stars for you!

SOOOOOOO good and super reasonable! Where else can you get a $5 California roll this good? (Seriously, if you know then message me) My boyfriend and I were recommended this place by a lovely server at Farrell's up in Brea, so we figured why not? Sushi Joint did not disappoint. When we arrived on a Saturday around 6pm, it was starting to get busy and by the time we left at 7, the place was hopping along pretty well. We started off with an order of their gyoza, a sort of Japanese potsticker. From there we got five rolls: California, Spider, Lobster, Four Seasons, and another I can't remember the name of, where the ingredients were wrapped in a thin piece of tuna instead of the usual nori and rice. Cali roll was just as I'd expect it to be: filling, refreshing, and tasty. The Spider roll was a fun surprise in every bite, its ingredients giving you an excellent variety of textures and flavors from crunchy and umami to soft and delicate to crisp and fresh to tender and succulent. Lobster roll was also surprising: the outside is a wonderfully soft layer of what seemed like the dough you find in pork buns. The lobster also had a great combo of fish and umami flavor, and was probably my favorite of the rolls. Four Seasons was good, with its umami sauce and tempura crumbles on the outside, but was a bit underwhelming. I would eat it again but as a shared item, if someone else were to order it. The final tuna-wrapped roll was a bit strange at first with the texture and amount of fish, but enjoyable nonetheless. Light and clean but filling, the inside was a mix of veggies and a small amount of sauce. Prices were pretty average for sushi bars, about $11-$15 each depending on the roll. Service wasn't bad or particularly good, just the typical service you get at most Asian restaurants in general. We will definitely go back!

Kevin A. and I came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated right away. The decor was really random and none of it really matched, but I guess that's the vibe they are going for? We got a few items to share: Miso Soup - tofu, mushrooms, green onion. Standard miso soup with a few additions. I always think it's strange when miso soup is served with a spoon. All of the rolls were great and I've listed them in my order of preference: [1] Sunrise on Ash - inside/outside: spicy shrimp and crab, avocado / tuna, sunrise sauce, masago, and onions. [2] Crab. com Roll - inside/outside: soft shelled crab / avocado, spicy mayo, sweet and spicy sauce topped with tempura flakes and bonito. [3] Midnight Roll - inside/outside: fish tempura, avocado, spicy mayo and jalapeno / seared tuna with ponzu mixed sauce and crispy onions. All the fish was very fresh and the toppings went well together. I checked out their HH menu (which is available 7 days a week!!), so I will definitely be back to check that out.

Well the only thing I enjoyed here was the free iced Chai Tea when I checked in on FB. The food was bland barely even having any flavor. The waitress had a resting b**** face and was very rude. She would walk away in the middle of our orders, slammed the check down and wait til you paid before leaving, and didn't even smile once nor make conversation. At least the poor service was consistent for her and she extended the rudeness to other tables. I'm honestly surprised they are still in business considering the competition is much better. Pick up your game Sushi Joint.

The parking lot is limited, with street parking looking like it could be a challenge when the families that occupy the nearby houses are home from work. However, I easily found a spot the first go in their lot and walked right in. I believe there's only one entrance, which is to the side patio - so don't try to come in from the front where the street is. The staff is incredibly friendly, as others have mentioned. The decor didn't impress me very much... there was a super random cabinet on the wall with what looked like liquor stickers plastered on? Either way... Staff was super friendly and the food came out really quickly. We had some really interesting rolls. The 911, Fullerton Roll, Midnight Roll and another I can't quite remember. I didn't think any of them necessarily stood out. One of them had a weird taste because of the weird fish + fried aspects of the rolls. I might come back to try some of their other rolls during happy hour, but I wasn't super impressed by the establishment at all.

Rolled through this place with my brother and cousins on our way to the New Year's event in downtown. This review is a little late, so I don't remember too many details other than the sushi being exceptional and the service being equally as exceptional. I had mostly nigiri. Next time I'm in the area, I would definitely drop by again.

Husband I were in Anaheim on our honeymoon, and had a serious sushi craving. We found the Sushi Joint since it wasn't far from our hotel, and it had some good reviews. Now we know why! That was honestly some of the best sushi either of us have ever had. We ordered as we ate, as to not get too much, and we started with the Sunshine roll and yellowtail sashimi. We were very impressed. Everything was fresh and had wonderful flavor. The highlight of our evening, however, was the Midnight roll. OMG! It was so fantastic- we suggest it to anyone! Service was wonderful, and the sushi chefs were fun and entertaining. An absolute find, and we will for sure be back next Disney trip.

They deserve 5 stars. I have never tried any of their special rolls, but I always get the Yellowtail roll with Halibut, Albacore nigiri sushi. Everything tastes so fresh and I can tell the quality is good. I remember I came once right before their Happy Hour ended, they had great specials on Sapporo too.. I can't remember the actual price but it was a good Happy Hour special. The staff is very friendly. I can't wait to go back!

New favorite sushi joint!! I can't believe this place has been here for 2 years and this was our first time! We sat at the bar and the sushi chefs are so nice and friendly, along with the entire staff, making the experience even better! We had the tower roll, sexy ladies, and holidays roll...all were fantastic! Can't wait to come back and try some more. You have to try this place, ditch Chomps, Sushi Joint is so much better!

My Fiance and I were so famished from our costco run that we decided to try this place out (it was less than half a mile away!) Luckily, we caught the last 30 minutes of happy hour which is from 3-7 EVERYDAY. We ordered 3 rolls and 2 hand rolls. We sat at the bar and the sushi chef turned our order around in less than 10 minutes with a full house! I would recommend the sunrise roll from their happy hour menu. We ate our food so fast that I forgot to note which rolls were what, hehe :) I have to compliment the staff for being very attentive and friendly. Hats off to the sushi chefs especially! I was able to watch the hustle and bustle from the sushi bar, and noticed how fast they got their orders out while the guy in the back worked meticulously hard on 3 beautiful sashimi boats! I would definitely visit this place again after another long costco haul. P.S. the parking lot is extremely small. You'd have better luck with the nearby street parking

4.5 stars. I love this place. Everything is really delicious but I wouldnt say a perfect score for it. I came here second time and the standards are very consistent. IN SHORT, come here for the specialty rolls!!!!!!! lol I will revise this if necessary when I visit later and try their other menus. ----------------------------------------- First of all, the rolls are all delicious. I haven't tried the sashimi or too much of the sushi, but the rolls are really awesome. Personally, all the rolls I ordered were fantastic. Even the simple cut rolls (spicy tuna or calif rolls, etc.)are above average. I wouldnt say state of art or super fantastic, but it is to a point where you will be happy and satisified when you take a bite out of it. I ordered the shrimp tempura as an appetizer and it came out all freshly fried amd crispy. I havent explored all the menu but I am 90% confident that they will be satisfying as well. The best part about this place seems to be the happy hour thats from 4pm to 7pm. Plus, all the rolls on happy hour menu tastes awesome. The specialty rolls have unique sauces and seasoning that seems to differentiate its rolls from other sushi restaurants. It was my first time tasting such unique kind of combination of sauces that created a drooling sensation in your mouth. I seem to be over exaggerating, but I say so because I dont think I would be able to replicate such taste on my own without the recipe (im a good cook myself, imo) Anyways, the food comes out super fast. The place is pretty small and I think the well-staffed chefs take the credit for it. Theres no line to be seated during happy hour (I went on Friday 6; 30). But the turnover of the guests seems pretty frequent due to fast services. The servers are nice, attentive, and friendly. Parking is kind of limited. It is not easy to spot this place when you are driving northbound on Harbor blvd. Conclusion, the rolls and their unique sauces makes this place my favorite place for dining. Yay.

Decided to give this place a try considering all of the good reviews it has on yelp. When me and my lady walked in no one welcomed us and the waitress had an uninviting face on her. She sat us down, got our drink order, brought us our drinks then walked away. We were ready to order but she was too busy watching the TV they have on the wall to even acknowledge us. My lady had to get her attention and when we got it she gave us a stink face. We ordered our food and like a robot she walked away. The sushi chef would complete our food and set it on the glass display by the bar but she was to busy not paying attention to bring us our food. We were annoyed by her attitude towards us and towards other customers so we quickly ate and asked for our bill. She never asked us if we needed anything the entire time we were there. Her service (or lack thereof) ruined our experience. Never again. The food was just like we expected. Simple yet alright.

I went with my boyfriend and another couple on a Sunday night to Sushi Joint and was very disappointed. The food was ok. I've definitely had better sushi but it wasn't as bad as something you would get at a gas station. The real issue was the service. It was completely obvious that the waitress did not want to be there and took it out on all of her customers. My group ordered one round of sushi and decided to call it quits afterwards because of her attitude and overall abysmal service. One person placed an order then she walked away when the next person was in mid order.Typically it is considered rude to ignore someone when they are trying to order food, request a refill, or request the check. Had high hopes after reading the reviews, but left very disappointed.

This place was chill. I had originally wanted to go elsewhere but due to circumstances I ended up here. I was a bit confused about their happy hour menu but ended up just ordering a bunch of sushi anyways. The sushi was good and the service was decent. There was only two other parties in the restaurant. The place is actually pretty small itself. I think it holds less people than Anaheim's In N Out. And it's decorated with the randomest things that don't correlate or have any type of design. It's a yard sale/sushi joint. Overall just okay. Not sure if I'd come back though.

1st things 1st. Trying to find parking here sucks!!! But the sushi was so good!!! It's a small place with very friendly staff. They were even doing shots of sake with customers lol the sushi was fresh & prepared beautifully. We will def b back

Don't go here if you're hungry, because you'll be surely to stay hungry. Service is horrible the waitresses are busy taking shots, getting water was practically mission impossible. It's super loud so unless you bring a megaphone forget having a conversation. Got my food but no utensils, and when I tried to ask I might as well be wearing an invisible cloak because she asked everyone from the moon and back how they were. I can surely say all these reviews about it being great is complete and utter bullshit. Thanks but no thanks one time is enough for this yelper.

So good first time trying their shrimp fried rice. Loved it! It was just as delicious as the first time we went. It was busy for HH parking was not fun in that tiny lot but it was worth the wait for sure.

I came in today during happy hour for my first time with a friend. It's a low-key place in fullerton on a corner, but parking was surprisingly easy even though its on a corner. It's a huge lot in the back! Also, the inside is decorated so different from your typical sushi place! It's pretty hipster and modern (lol). Once entered, we were greeted immediately by the entire staff and seated quickly by their nice server. I ordered the "cheesy ebi"($6) and "spicy chiky" ($6). *prices were due to happy hour* Both were bomb and extremely filling! But cheesy ebi kills them all. I've never had sushi like that! It's like cream cheese, avocados, jalapeño, shrimp...idk, but its really good and I would recommend first timers to try it! The chef was the one who recommended it to me and he was so kind to make my sushi pieces HUGE because it was my first time there! Very nice staff :) After sushi, we got "cookies and cream" mochi ice cream... omg, soooo good!! I've never had cookies and cream mochi before! I would recommend this place for sushi lovers who want to find a quick sushi place to eat for late lunch/early dinner during happy hour! Good prices, great sushi! I will definitely be coming back. Thanks sushi joint staff ! (:

Great little spot. Has become our favorite go to sushi joint near home. Meets all my important sushi requirements perfectly. Clean, Fresh, Friendly and Delicious. Happy Hour 3-7pm even on weekends. All staff are very nice and helpful about explaining any specials or answering questions about contents of rolls. I usually let them recommend one roll to us each time and we have never been disappointed and get to try something new. Really glad to have a good sushi happy hour near our home two thumbs up for Sushi Joint. Favorites: Ono Albacore Belly Nine One One Roll - Spicy Tuna & Cucumber inside, Avocado outside with Spicy Mayo Peter Pan Roll-Spicy Tuna and Avocado inside and Yellow Tail outside Fullerton Roll-Shrimp & Avocado inside, Tuna outside with Sweet & Spicy Sauce

Best Sushi around. Miso soup, Amazing, B.S.C. roll is my favorite and my husband loves the Godzilla roll (it's not on the menu so you have to ask for it). Always friendly service, always excellent food. Wish there was one closer to home but it is well worth the extra drive!

The Good: The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and well lit, and there is a large selection of food to choose from. I ordered the lunch bento box with teriyaki salmon and a spicy yellow tail roll (I believe). The food was fresh, nicely prepared and presented, and well seasoned. I was content with how everything tasted. The Bad: $15 after tax and tip for a lunch bento box that had a moderate amount of food didn't strike any spectacular chords with me. The Ugly: Nothing was ugly or extraordinary about this experience. The Verdict: This is a nice and safe spot to have lunch or meet up with some friends. Their happy hour or specials may be really awesome, but I don't live close enough to the area to really know if this restaurant could ever win me over as a regular.

My roommates and I ordered the Fullerton roll, sunrise on ash, 911 roll, baked mussels and the Yorba Linda fantasy. The baked mussels had good toppings and was cut into smaller pieces to make consumption easier, but was definitely "fishy-er" than what I'm used too. Orange sushi has this dish down to an art. Yorba Linda fantasy was pretty good. Definitely got my 11 bucks worth of tuna on that dish. Two things: onion chunks should have been much smaller for a tuna dish of that consistency and I would have preferred a few more wonton chips to offset the amount of tuna. Nevertheless, good taste, fresh tuna and good portion. I would order it again. Fullerton was my fav. Didn't look as appetizing but definitely had great flavor! A must try! Sunrise on ash was just ok in my book. Sunrise on 2nd street at sushi studio in lb definitely takes this one. 911 roll def looked the most appetizing but had the least flavor. It was just straight up spicy versus flavorful whereas the other dishes I ordered had both elements. Normal pricing was kinda steep for this quality but considering we went during happy hour, it was worth it. Seriously can't beat 8 bucks for these kind of rolls.

I met the owner Pete, a few years ago when he was at his other restaurant in Glendale. I hadn't seen him in at least 4-5 years but I came in for dinner and he recognized me as soon as I walked in. I wish I had those kinds memory skills! It was happy hour so I ordered rolls off the happy hour menu. The sunrise roll ($8) is my favorite. Then of course, I ordered the Philadelphia roll ($4). There's also an outdoor patio that will be opening up for outdoor dining when the weather warms up. Great place to eat. Waitress did a great job, friendly service. I'm glad he opened another store in Fullerton, since I travel there quite a bit vs. going to his Glendale restaurant.

This place is delicious! I've been looking for a good sushi spot and I finally found it. We asked the chef to get creative and he did not disappoint! It is a little pricey so this is a once in a while type of dinner, but wonderfully amazing! Their happy hour menu does seem pretty good, we will be trying that out next time!

I want to love Sushi Joint. I do. I mean, look: * The entire staff is easygoing and all smiles: both our chef and servers checked on us continually and always made themselves available. * The decor is colorful, fun, and inviting. * They have a sharp flat screen upon the wall. I was expecting a game, but Bobby Flay was on. Nothing wrong with that, I guess...except maybe his Iron Chef title. =] But... * The Happy Hour menu--"Joint Hour"--didn't make me happy. It seemed pricey. For just two of us, I still spent over $30. I mean, I don't mind spending $30 for sushi, but I spent it upon a seriously limited menu: yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . * The sushi we ordered was not bad. It was okay. But it just wasn't memorable. yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… . Sushi Joint: I just didn't love it. Wanted to, but didn't. However, I'm not beyond giving them another try, and I say this because the staff seemed so geniune and sincere. They really want your business. It's obvious. So who knows? They've barely opened. Maybe they need some more feedback, some more time to reflect...some time to think about that "Joint Hour" of theirs. I have time. I'll wait. =]

Dear Yelp, When are you going to let us rate places with half stars?! Haha two and a half stars for this new little sushi restaurant.. Came here because I love trying new sushi bars! And the yelp pictures looked promising.. I ordered the dinner special for $16.90 (8 pc. Nigiri + spicy tuna roll) and I wasn't impressed. yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… yelp.com/biz_photos/sush… The fish was mehhh. It just left me craving for better sushi. The wasabi here was definitely too weak.. I had to add a huge glop to taste anything. I don't believe the chef puts wasabi on the nigiri sushi either? Ambiance: Music was a little too loud for me, and it's definitely more of a casual, hip environment. The servers/sushi chefs weren't Japanese so it's not your traditional sushi bar experience! However, all the workers were very welcoming and friendly. Plus half a star for good service :). I hafta agree with fellow Yelper Craig F.. Wanted to like this place, but the fish just didn't meet my standards.

A friend of mine and I went to this place last week. The food was good but the reason I'm giving them one star is because of how rude the service was. We were the only two individuals in the restaurant and my friend ordered a Sapporo. When her beer arrived to our surprise there was a straw in it and the guy who handed it to her was laughing and saying "just in case you wanted to drink it through a straw". We both looked at each other like "wtf". Then when he left, he and the sushi chefs were just laughing behind the bar. Our waitress also commented saying "oh you didn't want to use the straw?" I'm sorry but putting a straw in ANY beer is a huge NO and thinking it's some type of funny joke to your customers is even worse. If you want great sushi service I suggest you head over to the other side of Fullerton and check out Ginza off Bastanchury and Brea.

I have been driving down harbor everyday for a half dozen years and this used to be a nasty location with overgrown gross plants, now it's a gem. The waitresses were so nice and friendly, I had the tallest waitress and she was so sweet. I started ordering rolls off the menu and she prompted me to use the happy hour, joint hour, menu to get a better deal. Six rolls later I feel like I am going to explode. I will definitely be back.

I am blown away at how amazing this place is and I LOVE my sushi. We happened to drive by randomly looking for lunch and I'm so glad we stopped in. Not only was the fish incredible fresh, but every single thing we had was unique and amazing. Can't wait to come back. I recommend the Four Season specialty roll. So good we had to order a second one. Also, their regular cut rolls are great! The sushi to rice ratio is perfect.

I kind of understand the sushi world. What I don't understand is how someone could charge that price for that level of Sushi. 45 one person and it was decent but let's not go over broad ans say its Koi in WeHo. This place could be ultimately awesome but its just not. If you charge more give more. That is all I am saying staff very friendly until I confronted them about my bill then they had the look on their face if I should die right there.

Pretty average sushi rolls. We ordered about 8 different rolls. The sunrise roll was the best with the chili oil base and tuna. The strawberry farm roll was the most disappointing. Slice of strawberry with each piece did not really go well with the smoky flavor. Seems like this place is thai owned with the waitress and chefs and the Chang beer they sell. The edamame appetizers were sub par. Overly nuked that the edamame were mushy and slimy. Not very appetizing.

The waitresse was wearing a shirt that said Leave me alone! and the other waiter had a shirt that said I passed out like this. So that being said the food quality is what you expect from a place that has a waitress wearing a shirt that says leave me alone...

I used to come here when it was Anita's Mexican Food. There is no trace of it being a Mexican food spot now. This place is good - I like it! Their rolls are tasty - I've tried the New Guy Roll and The Holiday Roll so far - I actually think they are the same roll, but the ingredients have different placement on/in the rolls (ie. crab/shrimp/avocado is placed inside one, and topped on the other.) This place is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it - if you're in the area, anyway. Parking is super limited (maybe 10 spots in the lot), but there is street parking (in a residential area). Staff is friendly and the establishment is neat and clean. I'll be back...

Great place for sushi, especially during happy hour. Friendly service is very accommodating, and I'm demanding due to food allergies. They also have great teriyaki bowls. Everything is fresh, I've never had a bad roll!

Sunrise roll 4/5 $8 Love this roll, fresh tuna on top, drenched in sweet sauce, stuffed with avococado and crab meat. Phili roll 3/5 $4 Has cream cheese, avocado, salmon, and white rice. Its pretty plain but very healthy if you don't want to overkill your daily caloric count ;) Green tempura ice cream 2/5 $4 A little disappointed with this dessert. The fried coating was very soggy and powerdish in comparison to any of the other ones I've tried before. It was also a very small portion for the size. Don't think I'll ever order this dessert here ever again. Service 4/5 Everyone was welcoming upon arrival and she checks up on us very often. The sushi arrived promptly and the description of the rolls were accurate. My only problem is that it took over 15mins to bring out our dessert at the end. I think she forgot cuz I asked for it twice. The water here also tastes terrible. Like unfiltered tap water with a very strong plastic taste. It made me gag a little.

Not really sure if we just came on a bad day but... The good reviews made me curious, but I was immediately turned off when I walked in. The place smelled like fish. Not in a good way. Like fish that's been sitting out for a couple hours. I've been to plenty of sushi places and haven't experienced that, so I was a little concerned. I sat there for a couple minutes, and a girl came around to bring menus. Nothing really caught my eye. I really couldn't get over the smell and it made me feel uncomfortable to eat there. I basically told the waitress thanks, but no thanks, and left. There are so many other sushi places to try, so I'll pass on this. Hopefully no one else experienced this.

Been here many times but never have a chance to write a review. Even though this may not be the best sushi places (oshima sushi yum), this is one of the great. I have try many different places, this has now become our regular. The sushi are fresh and tasty. The rolls' portion are usually bigger than most places. Price are reasonable. Service is nice and friendly. It is a little small hence parking can be tight. They have happy hour from 3-7pm.

Sushi Joint is sitting all by itself on a corner of Harbor and a small street. You've most likely seen it from the road as you drive by. I passed by this many times on my way to other restaurants to eat at and finally decided to go try it out. I wasn't impressed. I stopped by for lunch during the week and there was no one else in there. Good - I can get my food fast. Bad - Maybe there's a reason no one is here. I ordered a roll, some sashimi, and some sushi. Everything was average or less than average. The fish wasn't that fresh to me. (Bad day?) The prices were average for a sushi place. On top of that I wasn't feeling the decor they had going on. It's just not my type of place. I'd still suggest people to try it for themselves but I personally wouldn't go again.

Came here today (saturday) during happy hour after numerous recommendations from friends. Great experience! Being from LA, where the sushi joints are top quality and close to the ocean, I am used to a standard of freshness and authenticity. So trying this place my standards were already high. Ordered: Fullerton roll Spicy tuna roll Salmon sushi Naked 4 roll Nine one one roll Favorites: Nine one one roll Naked 4 roll Beer was cheap and cold during hour :) They also hooked us up with a roll on the house, sweet! Bottom line hit up this spot for fresh rolls, friendly service and a good buzz!

The best Sushi place in town. My wife and I try to go at least once a week. Nina and Johnny are great and really know how to take care of their customers. We love the food and they have the best Happy Hour.

The Sushi Joint is where all fish go to when they get to Heaven. The Sushi here is God sent! Everything is very fresh! The customer service is awesome! They treat you like family! The cafe style atmosphere was fun with cool music to rock out to while eating. We had the happy hour specials; which were all amazing. The Nine One One roll was our favorite with a nice little kick of heat! We will definitely be coming back for more!

So far the BEST sushi I ever had! I live in hawthorne and don't mind driving 45 min just to eat here. Best lobster roll spicy tuna and crunchy roll with sweet sauce? SO good! It's a must try

They have the best rainbow roll I've ever had. It's fresh, cool, and the perfect food on a hot afternoon. Check out their happy hour prices every day from 3-7!
