I like the covered patio but what Mexican restaurant doesn't have a bar to sit at? And the chips are awful. I'll wont be coming back.

This place is the bomb. Margaritas and the food is perfect. Our waitress was great. My girl and I will continue to frequent this great Mexican restaurant.

Sat out on the patio and it has a nice comfortable atmosphere. The fake trees add a nice touch. It's all enclosed so it's more inside than out. It was 90+ outside and still comfortable inside. The chips and salsa are fresh. Started out with the soup and it's excellent. A bit spicy but loaded with fresh flavor. Must try. Ordered the enchilada verecruzana and was suprised how many shrimp are inside. Loaded from end to end and almost every bite. Only negative was the sauce is a little weak on flavor. Other than that a very good dinner at a reasonable price. Service was very good, fast and friendly. I recommend you give them a try.

Most interesting patio I've ever seen in my life. I was in a state of awe and wonderment the WHOLE LUNCH trying to ponder how in the world it ever passed any sort of inspection. If you like crazy patios, go to Toledos. Food was ok, nothing special, even for the fair price. Would have rated it two stars, but gave it an extra for the Winchester Mystery Patio!

Do Not Call this restaurant and ask to order a glass of water... Incompetent‼ And that's dangerous when their business is serving / making food. How hard can it be to get a salad??????????????????????????????

  • Sal R.

Was pretty hungry, and haven't came here in a long time. Ordered a beef and chicken burrito. The burritos tasted like microwave meat, did not have any vegetables in the chicken burrito, and did not have any beens and rice in either one. Very disappointed, this place use to be good. Even the nachos were almost ruined, how do you even ruin nachos!? Lacks traditional taste.

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in town. Usually I get their enchi-burrito (Carne asada) and salad with house made ranch. But my favorite is their house margarita.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the Fresno area. I just wish it was a little larger.

Been coming here since 1997 and they are as good as ever! The patio is the place to be for sure. Gotta say I miss the small and intimate feel and the clear sun filled sky's while eating and enjoying Margaritas but with the amazing service and food the crew here makes it was only a matter of tine they would need to add on to accommodate the masses. Keep up the great work guys!

Ala carte items are Taco Bell sized. Too expensive for the charge.

This place has pretty good food and drinks. The atmosphere, especially on the patio, makes it worth it. The chips and salsa are worth your time and the soup is tasty. I would go back and try the shrimp cocktail.

Toledos!!! Well been eating here for well over 15 years and I gotta say I never had nothing terrible here so far, I mean it's not true authentic Mexican food, nor is it a 5 star restraunt it's just your average beer and food place nothing fancy besides a cool place to eat In the back patio area. The service is slow as usual but nothing to complain about, I only eat here 2/3 times a year but honestly where is any authentic Mexican food place here anymore? Solid 3 stars in my option

Wonderful Albondigas!!! Service has always been first class. We stop here as often as we can. Missed Irma the last few times. She and Norma are our favorite servers.

Super slow Sunday, but had about 6 waitstaff out front. Sat down inside and we were given chips & salsa and water. After waiting about 20 minutes and still not having our order taken, decided we'd go elsewhere. Was really looking forward to it :/

Call me a snob but I have had Mexican food that was much better than this and far more authentic. I've been to both restaurants...the food is subpar and mediocre. I can go home and for much less make some of the things I've had myself, or have family that could. The food is over priced and not worth the cost. There is no reason why a tostada should be $9. I've been to great Mexican food restaurants, so far the best being a very expensive but worth the price restaurant in DC called Rosas. Toledos doesn't even come close. Today was the very last time I will ever go to any of their restaurants. I don't know where they learned to make tostadas but they shouldn't be $9 for just one. I thought perhaps it was 3 small ones, fine I'm willing to give it a go but this was just one with some very mashed beans that tasted like canned beans and what looked like a whole bag of shredded lettuce, some bits of cheese a dollop of bland guacamole and some typical salsa plopped on top. So in a sense you gave me a salad with a soggy tostada for much more than the bag of shredded lettuce would even cost. Being as tostadas are picked up to munch on, I wonder how they expected me to eat mine. The place was fairly empty and quiet. You would think on cinco de mayo these places would be packed. Staff was still slow to help us with our order and didn't seem to pay attention to us when they took our order. My friend was very hungry and ordered a taco and a side of beans and rice. In came the taco no beans or rice. Since we were on a lunch she decided to just have the taco as they would take too long. I didn't expect much going in but certainly expected a bit more than what we got. I have tasted better and paid less in some cases but I don't mind paying a high price if its worth it. This was perhaps not as high as I've paid at other places but this certainly was not worth it's price. It's typical food, watered down in some areas to fit the typical American version of Mexican food, the salsa and chips was probably the only decent part of the meal.

Food is good.... But the wait time for your meal to come out takes to long. They need to increase their cooking speed.

  • FT K.

Awful food, horrible service, bad experience. We have been going to Toledo's for over 15 years but the last year or so the food has gotten worse and worse, the service is minimal and the wait for our food was over 40 minutes. For taco's? And I don't how a Mexican restaurant can possibly screw-up a taco since it's pretty standard fare, but they managed it. Wouldn't recommend Toledo's to anyone unless I really didn't like that person, then I wouldn't care.

I have been coming here for the last 20 years and always loved it however it has steadily declined over the last 2 years. It must be under new ownership because it is nothing like it used to be. They have jacked up the prices, and cut the portions in half. It definitely has a corporate feel now where it is all about up selling and maximizing profits. It is no longer about quality food and value......it is just like a chain restaurant now.

  • Y C.

I had the Lengua en salsa dinner. The lengua were cut into meaty chunks which I preferred but it was not browned at all. The flavor would come through so much better if it had been browned. It came with a small bowl of albondigas which was pretty average fare as well. Definitely a solid 3 stars like another user said.

This Mexican Restaurant was exactly what we were looking for -- near our hotel! We wanted good Mexican food, and we got it! Prices were reasonable. Building was older with lots of character. We did not eat in the patio as it was very hot. The only complaint was that the margaritas were weird, although tasty.

First, let me say that I love Toledo's. My daughter's wedding reception was at the Mission Village one and they handled it wonderfully. Now, for the Toledo's on Blackstone...the patio was awesome, incredible and very comfortable. The abondigas soup was delish, the Margarita was strong and perfect. As my normal routine I ordered carne asada tacos, so good! But here is where I have to add a note about the service. It was a slow night and I will admit we sat there a while just talking. The server came over and said she was being sent home due to the lack of business and could we pay the bill now, please? No problem, the bill was $43 and some change. $60 was put down. Off she goes with the payment, never to be seen again. No receipt, no change. We asked the manager for a receipt and the change, he printed a receipt showing $43 and change of $3. Then called the server and she said we gave her $50. Okay, I can do the math, even if we gave her $50, the change is not $3. So for a $43 dinner she was tipped $17. The manager had nothing to say or offer to settle it. This won't stop me from returning because I absolutely love the trees growing through the patio and the food. I am giving the server a pass and am hopeful that this was just a total mistake.

Great place to eat. Very good food and very pleasant atmosphere. I gave it 4 out of 5 because it is a little dated but nonetheless great food and great service.

  • F A.

You go here to sit in the covered patio with the trees growing all around you and the food. Had the stake fajitas and my date the chicken fajitas. They were both amazing and more food that either one of us could finish. I have never been disappointed in the portions or taste.

We went on Sunday,..and the band was playing (11-2 pm) which added to the experience, and the food is always good. No margarita's this trip,...or I would've 5 starred it.

Wow oh wow! I want to thank all you yelpers here for turning us on to this place. Its right down the street from where my guy is temporarily staying. First and foremost- like everyone else- ask to sit in the patio. Must sit in patio!! I love the decor, it reminds me of a beloved Mexican restaurant in New Mexico I have been too. LOVE it!! We came Cinco de Mayo. busy busy, but the service was excellent and we immediately got a table. Food was superb too. The chips in the begining where wonderfully seasoned and great salsa too. We got the Albondigo Soup which was a rave from everyone. Excellent choice, we loved it. I can not rave enough about this place, except one thing- seems like too much salt in food. About it. I had the Sopes with Shredded beef and he had a Chefs special. I will posts pics here shortly. Love this place. Lots of food too..My man will be bringing his employees here too. I had a bet with my guy that the trees werent real, but then when we got back to our car, sure enough.. We will be back. Oh and their margaritas where good and potent! :-)

Ok. Beans tasted like they were from a can. Ordered a cheese enchilada and it was mostly tortilla and sauce. Just ok.

  • Carey M.

I used to eat here a lot when I was younger. I remember it differently than the recent experience I had. Due to the heat, my husband and I chose to dine inside rather than on the patio. The service was mediocre. There were long periods we didn't see our waitress and our water glasses were empty for a while before being refilled. I ordered soup instead of a salad with my meal. It was mostly celery, there was one piece of carrot and one small meatball. My husband's steak was extremely overcooked (he ordered rare, it was medium-well). I had to send my plate back because the contents of the burrito weren't even warm enough to melt the cheese. I may give this place another chance for old time's sake, but it's gone downhill in the years since I last visited it.

The food is really good here but it's really out done by their great customer service. The managers and busser were checking in on us and .They have one server in particular, Teresa, she is an ideal waitress. She is always looking to please you, checks on you multiple times, makes suggestions on food, and is always in a great mood. She even gave us a small Christmas gift on one of our outings. I wish I could have servers like her at every restaurant and I hope toledos cherish her great service and attitude.

"Best Mexican food in CA." ? Please. I wouldn't even go as far as saying it's the best in Fresno. True. The food is pretty good; but in all honesty, the next time I'm craving Mexican food I probably won't be running to this place. Upon entrance, the place looks tiny, but you can opt to sit on the patio which is technically outside with an "inside feel" being that its completely covered. The patio seating has old vinyl booths, trees and greenery everywhere which was a bit awkward and comfortable all at the same time. I suppose. Ha! My friends and I ordered margaritas all around, which were so-so. Nothing special or fancy. For appetizers we had a sort of sampler dish and shrimp cocktail, again, nothing to rave about. As an entree, I ordered tostadas. Decent, but nothing I couldn't have made myself. Not to mention, the waitress completely messed up my order. She explained she was new (which is excusable because I know what it feels like to be a new server) BUT, at the same time, your food arriving not in the way you ordered it completely blows. They're tostadas. How hard can it be? Don't get me wrong, I'm not completely bagging on this restaurant because I would definitely go back. It just doesn't exactly hold up to my particular standards of legit Mexican food. However, I did like their salsa, and the best thing on their menu (in my humble opinion) is their sopes. Probably the one thing I would be excited to go back for. BOMB!

  • Suzi C.

Meatball soup was really good and so was the pork tamale which was covered in one of the best chili Colorado sauces I have ever tried. I asked if that sauce was the chili Colorado and was told yes. SCORE! New dish to try next time. Chips and Salsa super addicting.

We pulled into Toledo's for a bite while on our road trip to Yosemite. My man friend said this place is decent. He's been here before while in route for going back home and claimed it's good Mexican food.. Me, being the Mexican food critic was game! People.. Toledo's is amazing.... Walking in this place has that old Mexican restaurant feeling to it. The old vinyl booths and fun decor makes it inviting.. But I recommend sitting in the outside enclosed patio. It's pretty!! Service: AMAZING.. The waitress was super friendly.. I went with the albondigas, and we split the coctel de camarones and the cutest thing was when my friend asked me if ordering chicken fajitas was too "gringo".. Yes, my reply was.. So, he went with the sopes de polo.. I CONCUR. BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER! The chips and salsa are super good sans the overly greasiness! VERY AUTHENTIC!

Just went there for breakfast and quality of food was pretty good. I've had better though. So, I disagree with "best Mexican food in Fresno". I ordered the martha's special. It came with two chorizo enchiladas and rice/beans. The overall dish was too salty for me. Besides that, had a good flavor to it. On the other stuff. Parking sucks. Parking lot is so tiny. No bueno. Service was extremely slow And it wasn't even that busy. I had to ask for 3651946 different stuff to our server. Starting from water to utensil to napkins... I guess she couldn't see those things herself. "outside patio area", it looks so ghetto. Period. It looks like they wanted to expand but didn't have enough money for it. So they just put some plastic covers and called it the "outside patio". Price- overpriced. Average dishes on the menu are 15 bucks. I won't be returning to to this restaurant.

The Best in town by far!!!!

  • Jay R.

Just got back from Toledo's with a group of 5 friends. Wow, food is overpriced and not authentic whatsoever. I'm mexican myself so i guess i've had better obviously, but regardless the food wasn't good nor was the service. It was slow and it still was overwhelmingly bad. If you're looking for actual authentic mexican food at a good price, then this isn't the place. Won't come back to Toledo's nor will i recommend..

  • Brandon P.

The food and ambiance has authentic west coast border feel. The refrieds were well done, the salsa was pretty hot. I got a chile relleno burrito. That's right, a chile stuffed with cheese, battered and fried, then wrapped in a burrito. Awesome. By far the best food we ordered was the meatball soup. Came with the dinner. Make sure you get it, just get it. It was really kid friendly.

  • Amy B.

I stopped here on my way back to my hotel based on my fellow yelpers insisting that this is authentic Mexican, "the best Mexican food in CA," and so on and so forth. Well, I lived in Mexico, and none of the food I ever had tasted like it was made with a couple pounds of salt. Is this really the best that Fresno has to offer?

    (2)
  • Amy S.

Excellent!! Such a good find!! Sit on the patio.

  • Michele A.

The abondagas soup was really good. I reccomend just get a bowl of that. The chips were warm and had seasoned salt. The salsa too hot for this gringa! The chicken enchilada was a let down. The chicken was dry and the sauce bland and not much of it. The chili verde tostada was also a let down. 2 item plate will run you $10 but does come with soup or salad. The parking is also a bit of a challege. I miss El Toro

  • Muriel B.

Great food and excellent service. Their guacamole were off the charts good. The carne asada tacos were well seasoned and has a nice kick. Will definitely hit this place up again if I'm in Fresno.

  • Stephanie L.

I came here with my dad a lot when I was a kid, don't go as often now, but I still manage to get there a few times a year. The food has been consistent all my life, which I think is a pretty big accomplishment. The burritos are HUGE and the food is always tasty. I've never had a problem with the service they've always been pretty on top of their game. I've never sat inside cause it's SO boring! The outside patio is covered and it's almost like you're inside anyways. Very decorative for what is is, and the chips and salsa are really good as well. Parking is a pain...but that comes with the location I suppose.

I left Fresno 18 years ago but still must make the pilgrimage to formerly El Cid now known as Toledo's in Pinedale when in my hometown. Nostalgia, maybe - but their food is still sooo good and the warm service always makes me feel at home again. Favorites: albondigas or meatball soup - awesome for hangovers back in the day, their chimichanga which I order with shredded beef - although their chile verde is also very good, and a margarita on the rocks with salt. Their super fresh salsa and seasoned chips are perfect while sipping on a margarita and waiting for the food. Not a fancy place but definitely delicious!

Took my gal there for lunch before going to the Clovis Rodeo. We entered to the wonderful sounds of a live Mariachi band, and I'm not talking 3 or 4 Mariachi's, there were at least a dozen playing! They were amazing! We were seated immediately in the dining room, and enjoyed the violin's being played next to our table while the Mariachi's performed. Our server came promptly and took our drink order and supplied us with some very good chips & salsa. My gal ordered eggs with chili verde. Her eggs were prepared exactly how she requested and the chile verde was delicious and the meat tender! Fantastic! I ordered the "Chef's Plate" which is 3 butter-garlic shrimp and a portion of carne asada. Before my meal arrived, I was served a bowl of albondigas and it was really good. Then my Chef's Plate came when my gals plate arrived. My shrimp were cooked to perfection, crisp & flavorfull! My cut of meat was thicker than the usual carne asada cut of meat, and it too was delicious! Most every plate is accompanied by beans & rice. Their rice was cooked well and flavorfull also. Overall it was a great experience! I look forward to our next visit to Fresno/Clovis and another meal at Toledo's!

Best Mexican food in town. Great prices for breakfast that includes coffee. This Mexican restaurant has been around for more than twenty years. Excellent albondigas soup in town! Great chips and salsa.

  • Jason S.

More like 2.5 stars for this place. Guacamole/salsa/chips were good and would get them again. Margaritas were gross, too sweet, too much sweet/sour mix. Carne asada tacos were over seasoned and fish tacos were blah. Wait staff were good. So if you are nearby and want some chips and salsa/guac and cold beer it will fill the bill. Just pass on the margaritas and consider yourself warned about the mediocre food.

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant in Fresno. I've been to the Clovis location as well, but I prefer the Blackstone spot for its tiny-inside-huge-outside seating contrast. Want to feel like you're in one of the smaller satellite towns in the valley and not busy Fresno? Sit inside, there's only 10 booths! Want to feel like you're in a treehouse? Sit outside, it's a whole other world! Okay, food talk. I've had the enchiladas, flautas and sopes. Once I went sopes it was hard to order anything else. My suggestion: add carne asada. You won't regret it. Hubby usually gets the campechana and is pretty content. It's the valley, so the stuff is likely frozen, but that's how it is in the 'No. On this day, we had our first Toledo's breakfast. I ordered the Martha's special, which was 2 chorizo and egg enchiladas with sour cream, served with rice and beans. It was satisfying. The hubby had huevos rancheros and cleaned his plate, then mine. The servings are not huge; prices are about $9-14 per person without drinks. Standard, solid Mexican food.

  • Lester W.

Good food kinda pricey though, I stopped in for lunch and ordered some nachos to go and a large soda I paid a lil less than $15 the nachos were good had plenty of cheese, sour cream and guacamole every chip was smothered with toppings just like I like them

We have so many choices for good Mexican food in Fresno it's hard to say which is the best. I have to put this Toledos and the one in Mission Village in the top 5. What makes this location special is the covered patio area. Reminds us of being in Mexico although the food is more Tex-Mex and not traditional Mexican, in my opinion. Generous portions, great atmosphere, good service and a tad bit above the average cost but worth every penny.

    (4)
  • Jake R.

As soon as you walk in the cozy atmosphere invites you in. You have the option to go to the patio if you chose to. The chips and salsa was mediocre at best but the cocktails did make up for it. On the dinner menu did give you a choice of soup or salad, I would highly recommend choosing the soup. The entree of carne asada tacos and enchilada was delightful. Overall it was above average Mexican food in the Central Valley.

Delicious, yet overpriced food. Had the chili colorado burrito plate...it was GREAT!!!! No lunch specials on Sundays, and the cheapest meal on the menu was $11. I really like their patio area. Would have loved to try their margaritas, but figured I better stick to water if I had to pay so much for the food.

Went there with my family for the first time tonight for dinner. I would rate it three stars for food quality. Customer service varied. Sometimes the waiter would check up on us but sometimes they wouldn't. The chips and salsa were brought out fast but the main course took a while to come out. I ordered a vegetarian burrito which I would give a 6/10 only because it tasted good, but was stuffed with too many refried beans and not enough of the other vegetables. I'm not sure if I would go back. Experience was decent though. Everyone was nice that worked there.

  • Amy J.

This is a great place to eat mexican food or have a cocktail. I often go here whenever I am in fresno. The portion sizes are great for the price. The chips and salsa are amazing. I recently tried there breakfast this morning for the first time and it was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves mexican food like I do :-) Service is excellent and the patio dinning is a must never hot nor cold always a great atmosphere.

The bomb.com , I almost want to return to Fresno just to have the Famous Fajitas!!! There chef's specialty comes sautéed in a secret sauce that is " to die for"! The service was great, and the atmosphere "outside under a tent" really worked . Only problem was no Guinness. I know it's a Mexican restaurant...but come on , most Irish pubs serve corona and Dos Equis ! The monstrous portions came at a fair to low price.....that's is the major factor in my late review. I just waste twice as much dough for a mediocre sushi experience , and remembered to give credit where credit is due. I will visit this establishment every time I'm in town!!!

There were two huge pieces of hair in my meal. That is horrid. This means that any time anyone goes to this restaurant there is a chance hair will be in their food. Also the manager and office declined to refund my food, showing greedy business technique. Horrible food experience overall.

  • Mypang T.

I've heard their chips are fried w/ lard. I do love how they give chips and salsa and refill it w/o having to ask. We sat in the patio because the front restaurant was too dingy looking for me. The patio was kind of cold so I chose to sit under the heating lamp. Toledos is restaurant style = more expensive than don pepe or your taco truck. I got the 3 item dinner combo w/ sopes and a cheese enchilada. They sub meat w/ boiled beans and our server kindly informed me the refried beans also had lard in them. It cost about $13 for my entree. Their sopes were delicious. It's pretty Veggie friendly to a degree. Had a good date night there!

2 1/2 stars. Place is pretty Americanized. Food isn't great. I ordered the camarones empanisados and wasn't too impressed with the shrimp, the rice nor the beans. The flour tortillas weren't anything much either. I did like their chips and salsa and they have a much hotter salsa in a big bowl on ice out on their patio. That sauce isn't bad. That's pretty much it.

What a wonderful restaurant! Many, many times we have passed by Toledo's on Blackstone in Pinedale, but had never stopped as we headed for a favorite spot somewhere else. We are very glad that we finally did stop. We spoke with an outgoing couple on our way in, to see what info we could glean. The advice we took was to sit in the patio. Good advice. We may have missed it had we not known about it. A pleasant surprise met us when we walked into the patio area. Reminiscent of Mexico, I immediately was taken back in time when I visited similar places south of the border. The nice ethnic music helped. "Cucurucucu" (sp?) was playing and bringing back a lot to me. Several trees were growing through the roof, adding to the patio aspect nicely. We noticed everything was nice and clean. Service was quick, and as it turned out, plentiful and pleasant. The ubiquitous tortilla chips, served with a tasty pico de gallo, were differentiated from the norm. They were delightfully dusted with a spice blend that made the chips quite unique to any I have previously eaten. I could not identify the spice and when I inquired as to what it was, I was told it was a house secret. Maybe someone knows and can clue me in. Our order came quickly - there were still chips in the bowl - and accurately. Wow! Everything was soooo good. We each had the lunch special which consisted of two choices of entrees along with beans and rice (7.49). Choices of meats for the entrees were many, and not all are readily available elsewhere. My wife chose a Chili Relleno as she so often does, along with a pork tamal which came with Chili Colorado sauce. The masa was spiced nicely. Yum! The sauce was a bit picante for her taste, but very good to mine. Her Chile Relleno was great! Nice, light batter with a "cool" chili inside and the most delicious sauce I have ever tasted on a Chili Relleno. My order consisted of a cheese enchilada (which I most often order the first time I eat at a Mexican restaurant, mainly to get a handle on their food. I figure that if the cheese enchilada is exceptional, the probability is high that everything else will be also). I really enjoyed the cheese enchilada and the sauce it was bathed in. I also ordered a Carnitas Burrito. It contained a decent volume of tasty Carnitas along with chopped cabbage. I added some of the Chili Colorado sauce and it was BOMB! The beans were better than most. Neither of us tried the rice, but the way everything else tasted. I probably should have. My wife ordered a small flan ($1.99) For dessert. Delicious and nicely spiced also. Holy Toledo! What a meal! Overall, OUTSTANDING! A true 5 star experience! We won't pass by as easily in the future, and We hope future experiences will be as rewarding.

We were coming from out of town for a school tournament. I called and spoke with someone 2 weeks before our arrival and was assured that they could accommodate a group of 25.I was instructed that a $25 deposit was required to hold our spot. I dropped by the morning before our event, the paperwork was already in their book, paid the deposit, spoke with SEVERAL members of the staff, saw where we would be seated and left. The day of the tournament, things ran about an hour behind. At 12:00 PM, I called Toledo's and asked if we could bump the reservation by 1 hour. I was again assured that would be "No Problem". We arrived at 8;30 PM and the woman at the front desk looked surprised to see me. She had no idea who I was. (I paid HER the $25 deposit the day before). when I asked if there was a problem, she said no and sent us to the back patio to be seated. The Manager and staff had NO IDEA who we were or that there would be 25 of us. He also, on arrival, was not intending to seat us, but let us leave. I explained that we HAD reservations, a paid deposit and that I had been in contact several times with the restaurant. He finally crammed us into the back corner, not as a group, mixed in with other diners and left. The service was less than great. The food was less impressive than the service AND not once did the manager reappear to ask how things were going. The reviews i read said this was the BEST Mexican food in town...Fresno, I'm sure you can do better. And if you haven't been to Toledo's, don't waste your time and money. If I could have given this place negative Stars, I would have.

This is the original Toledo's if I'm not mistaken. It is near the River Park shopping center so it's close by. The parking lot is small as is the restaurant. The food is pretty good and the portions are huge.

The best Mexican food in Fresno, hands down. Service is good, food is amazing...what else can I say?

Mediocre. Too pricey as far as I am concerned. Country fare cafe has pretty much put every other mexican restaurant to shame thus far. Sad but true!!!

I have been meaning to write a review on Toledo's. I ate there with my girlfriend a couple of months ago and everything was fantastic! The portions were huge and delicious. I had a combination plate that included the house specialty (Colorado something) and she had fajitas. We shared and enjoyed everything! The only thing that surpassed the outstanding food and value was the service. Our waitress was attentive and always had a smile on. She made us feel like she was happy we were there and happy to take care of us. This truly made dining there a wonderful experience.

So this isn't the best place for mexican food. But I can say that it is super close to where I work, there Asada burritos are decent, and the staff is always friendly. I usually order my lunch ahead of time since they are quite busy during the lunch rush. There prices are inexpensive and their food is always fresh. I am sure that I will lunch here again.

First off, really delicious chips and salsa. Just the perfect amount of spice and freshness. Next, best chili colorado you can get in these parts. And LOVE the asada tacos! Good rice and beans too. Only complaint is the location on blackstone is a little dirty and ghetto inside but the new one way out in clovis is super nice and lots of seating.

Great chips and salsa! Been going here for about 12 years and it's still a favorite! The tostada Veracruz and the enchilada veracruzana are my favorite!

This was my moms favorite restaurant so what better way to celebrate Mother's Day with family. My parents have been eating at Toledo's since they were married so for this to happen was disappointing. However over the last couple years it is evident this location has been going downhill. Well we get the restaurant and they don't even have my reservation pointed down even though I called the morning of. No big deal since they had plenty of seating (no costumers). Then when ordering drinks we get an horchata that's watered down and then receive a replacement one with the same issue. To top it off their power went out for more than 10 minutes even though its so hot and dark in the patio area. When I vroufht this to the attention of the MANAGER he disregarded me and said he had no control over the situation, which I understand, but then again when costumers are eating in the dark with no ventilation that IS something he has control over. Nonetheless My dads food was not made until the rest of us were done eating. He got a burrito, not that long to make. NEVER will we go again! Truly disappointed with what occurred and the management.

i generally dont eat mexican. the closest thing to mexican i'll eat is robertitos but tried this place today for the first time. it was delish! they give free salsa and chips for an appetizer. salsa is salsa if you ask me... you can't really mess up on it. the thing that really gave it 5 stars was the chile verde burrito plate. for 10 bucks you get soup or salad, beans, rice, and the burrito. the soup was pretty tasty. definitely homemade! tthe beans and rice were seasoned just right. the burrito came with slow cooked pork in a flour tortilla. im generally not a fan of flour tortilla but the burrito was GOOD! i finished nearly everything but the beans, just because beans are really filling. i would definitely recommend this place!!

This is easily one of the best Mexican Restaurants in Fresno. The food is delicious, the service is great, location is awesome, and the design is trendy! I love sitting in the covered outdoor location with the trees and stuff, it's very cool. I miss this place a lot now that I've moved out of the area. I'll definitely stop in when I come back to town!

This is a good place to go if you like extremely average Mexican Food. The service is usually good, but I think it is over-priced. Toledo's is OK, just not great.

Surprisingly fantastic, considering the non-descript locale. Huge menu and very authentic. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely the best I've found in Fresno!

I love their chips, salsa, and entrees. My husband and I also like the restaurant layout and the privacy of the booths. My only complaint is the service. They sometimes have slow service, so I wouldn't go there if we were in a hurry. The food is delicious though and usually well worth it! This is probably our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Wish they were slightly cheaper!

If your looking for authentic food this is the place to go. The food here is great, the service is good and it is relatively inexpensive. I really enjoy eating here for lunch or dinner. Recommend over any other mexican food restaurant in Fresno.

I wanted a Mexican restaurant that wasn't a Chevy's, Acapulco or El Torito. I was happy to find Toledo's -- good atmosphere (we were in the covered back patio -- much nicer than the front). The chips were so-so, but the salsa was excellent, fresh and packed a punch. I ordered chicken enchiladas verdes, which was nice, but the chicken was on the tough side. Margarita was excellent.

If I thought any Mexican food should get more than 3 stars this would be the place to get them. A family favorite and although the service has suffered in recent years the food is consistantly good.

Excellent service, good food, bad ambience / location. The restaurant is located right on Blackstone, situated very close to the curb. When you go in, you will be asked if you want to eat inside or in the patio. Both times that I ate here, i chose to eat inside instead of the patio. I feel that when the cars get a red light on Blackstone, people watch me eat. Also, there's just too much traffic noise....it's a bit scary. I havent tried eating at their patio, but i probably should next time. The food is good. I love their enchilada verde. The rice that came with it is really yummy too. Their burrito is also yummy. Would definitely come back here again

Stopped in for a snack and a couple of margaritas. Interesting layout for a restaurant, small restaurant in front, maybe 8 or 10 tables, no bar area. A waitress directed us to the rear of the place into a somewhat air cooled patio (still no bar to belly up to) with lots of tables. Busy father's day, we were warned of a 20 plus minute wait for food, but we didn't wait but maybe 5 minutes. We only had margaritas, chips, salsa and guacamole and shared a tamale. Margs were a concoction of clear liquids. I've never seen clear lime or lemon juice OR marg mix for that matter, these were clear like sparkling water and tasted okay, but certainly not like I'm used to. Next we "braved" the cucumber watermelon marg, not a fan, tasted like a Jolly Rancher candy. Chips were good once we asked for and added the hot salsa. Guacamole was tame, nothing like the guac served in some of my fav So California Mexican restaurants - it had onions but no "umph", no spicy jalapeño or Serrano peppers and not a hit of cilantro of which I think is essential to any guacamole recipe. Tamale was packed with meat, but lacked the earthy taste of masa. Masa surrounded the tamale, but hardly had any taste. I consider this the type of Mexican restaurant that's attempting to cater to what they think Americans want in Mexican food. This one is a miss, but service was fantastic and quite friendly. Ample parking, easy to find.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
