Bean Scene Cafe Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Was going to stop by starbucks on the way home but decided to stop here instead. What an excellent choice!!! I don't know much about coffee and what I do know, it's all from starbucks. With my first sip of the almond cappuccino, I feel like I've been introduced to the real taste of coffee. It tickled my senses along with my tastebuds. The coffee was absolutely delicious!!! I also had the dessert crepes and they were good... A bit skimpy on the fruit, a bit heavy on the Nutella and chocolate syrup. Coming back soon! (Very very soon)

Pretty decent spot. We were enticed to check it out by how unique the cafe looked from the outside. Inside is spacious with lots of places to sit. Menu has a lot of selections to choose from as well, however; the one thing that stood out the most unfortunately, is that lack of cleanliness. Building is definitely an older Art Deco style space, but the inside definitely needed a good cleaning. That "welcoming" feel was just not there... It's not someplace I'd probably visit again. Staff was helpful!

What a great cafe surprise in Fremont! We stopped by for a light lunch and I was just starting a diet. I got the portabello mushroom salad and I was so delighted it was not only huge but chock full of veggies (and mushrooms, duh). It was very satisfying. The husband had the chicken salad sandwich and was happy with it. It looks like a great place to chill as well. The parking is a bit annoying so a star off ;)

Interior is nice. Parking is difficult to find, you have to go into the back private lot. I ordered a mango green tea with less ice, and I got a ton of ice. The flavor was strong, bold, and sweet. They also offer tapioca pearls with the drink which were pretty decent. I've never tried their coffee drinks, but there seems to be a good variety of flavors here. I just don't get what's so hard to understand about 'less ice'.

I absolutely love this place! This place is amazing, the crew are awesome, and the food and, also coffee is heavenly. I always come here and order the same coffee. The Hazelnut Latte! I believe that this place is way better than Starbucks! You guys, Rock!

Good coffee...nice environment. They use square payment terminal which gives you the option to get your receipt emailed to you. They have nice mugs, and they're prices aren't too bad in comparison to Starbucks or Peets. The large mugs are in fact large The only con is that the ceramic tiles on the floor and the spacious hight of the ceiling causes sound to really travel in that place, but it's definitely bearable.

What a cozy den on a crisp Sunday morning. Big menu of coffees and hot drinks, and I got a cordial hello by staff as I entered. But wait. They don't know how to make a hot chocolate hot. Twice. See, I told the baristas that my wife was coming in, but that I'd start with a hot chocolate and pancakes before we order something else. Pancakes good for $3, btw, talk about a low-down budget starter. Lukewarm Chocolate came in a mug. I sat slunk in on the couch. When the pancakes came in a to-go box, I told the server, this hot chocolate is not drinkable, it's not hot. "Can you put it back into a pot to re-heat it, or do you have a microwave?" I asked, even though I abhor microwaves usually. "Sure," she said. "Sorry about that." The female server took the hot chocolate behind the counter and handed it off to a male server, gave some news, and he took over. I looked away for the next couple of minutes, digging into my pancakes. "Hey, you're hot chocolate is ready," the male server bellowed. I got up from the couch, and grabbed my hot chocolate which was now in a to-go cup. "Sorry about that, sir," he said. "That's ok. Thank you for taking care of it," I said. He did not take care of it. I don't know how "The hot chocolate is not hot can you put into a pot to re-heat it" translates from one worker to another into He Did Not Like The Hot Chocolate Can You Put It Into a To-Go Cup. But that's what happened. However, if none of this mishap occurs than I wouldn't have a story to tell to accompany my two-star review. The thing is, this is probably in most cases a strong, sturdy 3-star place for the usual time. The staff is friendly, but their brains are a little mushy on Sunday mornings it seems. Oh, I called the wife and told her not to come in -- we're not getting fantastic-sounding crepes today. We'll try the crepes at "Bean Scene" sometime next year if we ever travel back into the area, and see about revising the review. #crabbywhiteguy

A cute little hidden gem. It's not too crowded, not too loud, and not too pricey. They even have a happy hour from 3-5: a coffee and pastry for only $3! If I lived a little closer, I would be here constantly. There are several outlets and plenty of light, making it a great study/work spot. The decent selection of oldies music on a Saturday afternoon gives the place a comfortable and nostalgic kind of ambience. And the cute latte foam art is always a plus.

Good place to get some work done. Had some coffee and a lox bagel. If you want some food, I definitely recommend the lox bagel. Perfect amount and loved all of the toppings they put in it. My only complaint is that the staff needs more training. I waited maybe 8 minutes for someone to help me, because one girl was sweeping the floor and the other was in the kitchen area or something. When she got there, I showed the cashier the yelp check-in offer and she stared at me blankly and said she had never heard of it before, but that she'll believe me lol I was straight up SHOWING her the yelp page and check in offer! Anyway, she eventually managed to navigate through the cash register system to find the offer. Overall, this is an okay, homey spot.

Bean Scene was formerly Bay Street Coffee but I'm guessing has since had a new owner. However, they kept many of the decorations from Baystreet and the place is set up similarly. Overall it is a great study spot with lots of natural light, seating of all kinds (couches, tables, etc.) so it really accomodates whatever type of seating you prefer. Several of the edge tables also have outlets which is a good plus! The coffee here is also pretty decent and comes at a great price. The first time I came I had the almond latte which surprisingly even came with some simple latte art. From a shabby little place like this, that was definitely not expected! I've also tried the regular coffee, the ice coffee and the orange juice and all are good and very satisfactory. On top of that, the service is great and the baristas are all friendly and courteous. The one thing I like best here is probably the ice coffee simply because they don't just brew coffee and water it down with ice to make it iced, but rather have a designated pitcher of ice coffee in their fridge so you can ask for the coffee with no ice to prevent ending up with disgusting watered down coffee. Honestly, there isn't much to say about this place except that I have never been disappointed, but also have never been wowed. But since I came all the time to do work, I gotta give it five stars.

Came here on a sunday afternoon to get some work done. Coffee: My friend and I got a regular coffee and mocha latte. The coffee was okay and the mocha was pretty good. I was asked if it was for here or togo and I said for here, but we were still given togo cups. It seems like the girl who took my order was relatively new, since she had to ask every question multiple times. Ambiance: I read in the yelp reviews that this place just changed owners and it shows. The couches were all super new, which is sooo nice because this hardly ever happens! There's also lots of tables and chairs with plenty of outlets in the space. They played peaceful chill music and light rock in the background, which is a plus for me since I can actually hear myself think here! Overall I enjoyed this coffee shop and would definitely come back again if i'm in the area!

This is like the little hidden place of Fremont. Came here twice while the car was being worked on down the street. Got the chicken salad the first time, which I loved and the second time I tried the French Toast. OMG! the bread was so fluffy and it was cooked perfectly. They also serve fresh fruit smoothies which was delicious! Great selection of breakfast and lunch food and the variety of drinks were pretty awesome. Very quite and customers seems to be locals. Great place!

Extra props for having $4 fresh squeezed juices. I usually walk here and order a carrot, orange, and ginger juice. Refreshing and they'll bring you your drink to you. They also have a variety of sandwiches, salads and pastries

This is a nice coffee shop for chilling, but i really was not a big fan of their coffee it just didn't taste that good, maybe both me and my wife got a bad batch, since everyone says its good. but i have had a lot of coffee, and this doesn't hold up. there are not that many good brunch places in this area, so wanted to give this a shot. But really don't come here for the food. Got a veggie crepe and a ham crepe. it had no seasoning, the ham was blah, crepe just had a bunch of ham and egg and that's it, no greens inside of it, no seasoning, i needed to douse it in Tabasco to get some sort of taste. I was craving a good brunch but was very disappointed. Its a nice get together place that serves coffee and food, but not really that well.

This is my first time here and I have to say it was a great experience. I really like the service here and the lady behind the counter is very nice. The place is clean and very calm compared to Starbucks. I read the reviews on yelp about this place and I always passed this place so yes, I was very curious and eager yo try it! I ordered the Caramel White Mocha (Medium). The price is pretty fair at first until you actually try your coffee. The drink came out in more or less average time (about 2-3 minutes) in a MUG (for "here" only). I love my coffee in a mug because it gives me that "at home" and welcoming feel. I let my coffee cool for about a minute and when I took that first sip, I really looked back at the reviews on why this place is rated 4/5. The CWM (caramel white mocha) was a little more on the "Sweeter than Sweet enough" side and I can feel a little more sugar jitter than espresso buzz. It's no big deal but if you're a Coffee Enthusiast, you can tell. It was great overall and it gave me the relaxing feel and the caffeine fix that I needed for school. Great place! I recommend this to Coffee Enthusiasts and I will for sure come back here again! Service (5/5) Caramel White Mocha (4.5/5) Atmosphere (4.5/5)

Free wifi + comfortable seating + plugs + nobody will bother you = I'm happy. My hot cocoa came in a cute mug and was steaming hot. Pretty delicious! My sandwich was around $6.75 and probably wasn't worth it. It was toasted bread cut diagonally smeared with light chicken salad. It came with a choice of fruit, salad, or chips. The chips are just Lay's chips so get something else haha. The service was two young girls. They were kind of awkward and one of them was staring at me really strangely but maybe it was just a weird vibe I was picking up. I didn't really mind since I just wanted to watch my Walking Dead with some hot cocoa. Thumbs up!

First time here, and I must say.. I LOVE this place! After Great Mall my friend and I decided we would go have some coffee. Of course, in my mind I was only thinking the place would somewhere be in downtown San Jose. Sadly, it was around 7:00PM and NONE of the stores were even open! I was super sad. Like why?! Anyway, long story short. I searched a little further like Fremont and happened to come to this place. Mhmmm. It was closing at 8:00PM. Perfect. The workers were super friendly and nice. I loved how cheerful they were even though we came 20 minutes before closing. They even allowed us to stay a little longer! Loved it. I got a white mocha coffee size medium and it was great. My first time here, and it was super worth the drive. I wouldn't mind coming back if I happened to be around there.

I like their happy hours-- 3-5 pm, any pastry with a hot drink for just $3! I always go for their chicken melt. A chill place to study or catch up with a friend. I just wished there were more outlets available. Although you can always bring your own extension cord-- just don't forget to take it back with you!

Will admit my friends and I definitely were the annoying grammers of lattes and coffee but ahem, just saying, LATTE ART IS REALLY COOL IF YOURE A LATTE ART VIRGIN! Which leads me to my review, finally. I've been keeping my eye on this cafe for a while and have wanted to go so bad but had 0 time. Today, I made all my friends come with me. When we first walked in we entered from the back since we parked IN the back. Saw literally only one person working but I wasn't panicked or anything, I saw really cute couches in the center of the cafe and I already fell in love. Shit was like Central Perk of fremont, ok? I go up to order a White Mocha and a Cinnamon roll, heated up. It cost almost $7, lowkey pricey and will definitely avoid next time, but makes sense to me. My friends got espressos, hot chocolates, and chai lattes. KEEP IN MIND THERE WAS ONLY 1 PERSON WORKING AND IT TOOK UNDER 10-15 MINS TO GET ALL OUR DRINKS AND FOOD, round of applause to homeboy. I also saw him cleaning lobby after making our drinks, seriously, mad respect! We get our drinks in these adorable ass mugs and I was basically sold to this place, I literally felt my soul, bound to this cafe. Maybe it's the hype of the cute little flower design on my white mocha or the cute lil mugs and couches but IDC the atmosphere, the location, the service, it was all ideal of something I've been looking for, for a while. Didn't even know if anything existed in such a little town and city. All in all, definitely a breath of fresh air from PEETS, STATBUCKS, sujus, you can name it, I have yet to find another nice, actual cafe like experience from anywhere else.

LOVE this new coffee spot! It's a nice break from the usual chain big names. Feels local and love that they have a breakfast and lunch menu. Asked them if I could bring my Meetup group here sometime. They didn't even blink an eye. Can't wait to bring friends. Service was great. Food was good. Space is comfortable. And I enjoyed my quiet time over a good latte.

This place has its ups and downs, but a very solid place to get some work done. They have breakfast and lunch menus, but it needed some work. Eggs, ham and even croissant always came out lukewarm. It has been through so many winters that unappetizing is too polite of a word to describe it. Although as disappointing as that was, the place has some comfy chairs, modest wifi and ample outlets for your laptop or other electronic devices. The bathroom can be improved by putting more handsoap into the dispenser for the love of god. Not to mention putting some paper towels, bathroom rolls and seat covers. Come on man! Get it together! You do not need to be a rocket scientist to do and know about these things for your patrons. Now as for the coffee, it is a hit or miss. Some days it can be good and some times it can be negligible to aweful. It is a game of chance at best, so pick your poison. Overall, this is a solid place with some areas that need improvements.

Great coffee. Excellent food menu that includes breakfast and lunch options. I'm a fan of the bagels and locks personally, and the gritty kitty shake wasn't bad either. The name does fit the beverage, as it is gritty. I go at least once a week to do work on the computer, and am always pleased.

So I'm here with the baseball team for a double header and what do I do as soon as I drop them off......go find my coffee fix.....lol I looked this place up and it seemed cute enough. Get there and the staff is very friendly. Everything is relatively inexpensive and there is a nice....peaceful atmosphere. I would recommend this place for anyone getting coffee or food to go and also if you want to sit and eat. The music selection is on point and you have the option of sitting at a table or a couch......there a newspapers or magazines for your reading pleasure and outlets almost everywhere so you can plug up if needed. Thanks Bean Scene for making this customer feel at home.

Delicious crepes, quiet and spacious space for work, conversation or study. Unlike other coffee shops their music is just loud enough to create the atmosphere of a community coffee place without going over the top. Love the nutella crepes. Very friendly service.

Great first impression as a study place, but now that I'm working nearby and coming back about once a week as a place for a meal... The food is decent and so are the drinks. Their slushies are really good. Their flavored teas have way too much syrup. Their coffee, both hot and iced, are best without milk. They're very inconsistent with their Five Stars rewards. First I was told I could earn points on everything, then I was told it's only drinks. Yesterday I was told it's only on coffee drinks, though I had been earning points on my tea drinks and Italian sodas before, so that's annoying. I don't dislike the place, but at this point I come back regularly out of convenience.

Standard and cozy. This place reminds me of People's cafe in Berkeley but a lot cozier.

  • Nom N.

I almost gave it one star. :-( I hadn't been back here since it was Bay Street Coffee. I was really disappointed then, and just as disappointed now . The coffee is not bad, but not great, either. Their pastries are not homemade, which is disappointing. It looks like them got them at Costco. The building is terrific and I want so bad for this place to be better!

My go to place to grab a quick lunch that is somewhat healthy, and delicious! Sometimes the service is amazing, and sometimes it can be horrible. Also. A good place to study that is close by and safe.

  • Maria H.

Nice place overall. A good place for a coffee, and breakfast or lunch. (They also have teas, smoothies and fresh squeezed juices and desserts.) One of the attributes that I especially like about Bean Scene is that it has a neighborhood feel. Another this I like is that while there are ceiling fans, they keep the back entrance open and there is a natural air feeling rather than being in an air-conditioned place. (Note, I'm writing my review during Spring, I have overheard someone say that it can be hot in there during the Summer.) They do make the food (breakfast and lunch items) on premises, but they do have the desserts brought in. None-the-less, they look good and fresh. I haven't had any to tell you differently. The staff is friendly, not necessarily over-the-top friendly, but what I have noticed is that they are consistent. They are polite and they smile. They bring items to your table, etc. Bean Scene also has plenty of parking both on the street and the lot behind them. They get a 4-star rating rather than 5, for the following: There are flies as a result of leaving the back entrance door open. The place is a little dusty. For some reason their water cups are about 3 oz sized. And, they don't have enough outlets for people with laptops, plus their WI-fi can sometimes be extremely slow or non-responsive, however, it is free (so try to make a purchase).

A nice place to get some work done and grab a drink if you are in the area. I know Suju's is one of Yelp's favorites for coffee in Fremont, and for good reason. Suju's is open later than this place, has a nicer work space, and has more drink choices. That being said, I am pretty satisfied and enjoyed Bean Scene Cafe. It has a kind of home-y feel to it, and both the manager and workers seem nice here. They are always happy to start a conversation, and ready to make adjustments or changes to your drink if you want any. There are also Bubble Tea Drinks on the menu along with italian sodas. Although I haven't tried anything fancy here, their drinks so far have been solid. Parking is also very easy, which is a HUGE plus for someone from Los Angeles like me. There is a huge parking lot behind the store, in the plaza with O'Reily's Auto Parts.

3.5 My experience here was a good one, but I didn't find it to be outstanding compared to other coffee places I've spoiled myself with. I only stopped by here for a bit with a friend on a Sunday afternoon, and business was quite slow. It's a very spacious cafe with plenty of seating. There were a few people who set up camp there so it looks like a promising place to study or do some work. I ordered a Black Forest Mocha along with a slice of their guava cake. The Black Forest Mocha is pretty much just a normal mocha with some raspberry syrup/powder (I'm not sure what they use). The flavor of the mocha is strong, which I like, and it leaves an aromatic aftertaste of raspberries. The guava cake was fluffy and scrumptious, although it got a bit too sweet for me after a few bites. All in all, it's not bad. If I'm in the area then I wouldn't mind stopping by again.

Such a shame to see an Irvington landmark lost. Definitely miss the feel of good ol' Bay Street.

I did not know it took over under new ownership. This was once Bay Street Cafe! I used to trail myself down here for night study sessions during college back in the days. This place has a jazzy, vintage-y, and chic vibe feels. Very contended with the service here but they should step up more. I stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast and a cup of almond cappuccino. They were very disappointing. The breakfast crepe was below mediocre - It was infused with ham with sodium nitrates that tasted like it was raided from a grocery store in a meat package to make your sandwich. Yup, that's what the ham tasted like. The hot almond cappuccino was fairly good, I could make it myself better. The cup was filthy and grimy.. please put more energy to clean dishes! The interior is spacious, have comfy couches to sit on and socialize with your friends, have tables and electric outlets nearby for your laptop or to charge your mobiles. Wifi is included! Overall, not bad but this place can have potential if they work just a little harder.

This is a regular breakfast stop while visiting the Irvington farmers market on a sunday morning. Regularly make the 55mile drive early in the morning and arrive hungry! The staff are very welcoming and efficient with food serving........the lox and cream cheese on a toasted garlic bagel come right up. And delivered to your table with a smile. Couldn`t ask for more. The place seems very clean and pleasantly decorated. A first class experience!

I finally caved and visited bean scene, (though I miss the hell out of Bay Street), and gave it a chance. Being a barista with a fear or burned milk, I ordered an iced vanilla latte. Unfortunately, their espresso roast tastes over roasted and gave my latte an awful burnt taste, anyway. I love the vibe, but much of the decor and overall interior is thanks to the age of the building itself, and anything Bay Street previously added.. I won't be back

Positive: is really cosy and has couches to relax enjoy your cup of Joe they have a bunch of coffees to satisfy your taste buds great windows to see the outdoors lol cars and ppl. haha Negative had two cups of coffee no refills two sunny side eggs four Turkey bacon strips weat toast for my liking that little amount of food for two ppl was a bit pricey.. restrooms where not at their best. Is more like a little breakfast nothing fancy. yeah WiFi but who dosent offer that. Coffee cups are not even that big. Ugh not for a second visit.

4.5 stars :)! Coffee Bean Scene is located in a historical building off Fremont and Bay St. I really liked the vibe of being in an older building, probably one of the eldest buildings in Fremont still standing. The inside is also decorated with the vintage theme. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating looked cute to sit in, because it was on the back on a little patio. The indoor seating had couches, chairs, and individual booths. They also had plenty of outlets to plus laptops and chargers into. I was impressed by the menu, tons to choose from! They have it all though -coffee -tea -shakes -smoothies -boba - fresh squeezed juices - bagels - sweets -cold/hot sandwiches -crepes -salad The staff was super friendly and kindhearted :) I ordered the almond cappuccino and the veggie crepe! (Idk how I felt about the cheese) in the crepe. But other than that they were super!

I don't even know what to say here. First off, there were two people working on a Saturday morning, one in the front and one in the kitchen. The girl working the front was not friendly (understandably, she was trying to ring people up and get coffee orders done). We ordered two of the Set 1 breakfast (eggs, cheese, bacon, ham, and a croissant). It took nearly 15 minutes to get our food which, when it came out, was terribly unappetizing and lukewarm. The croissant was cut in half and toasted on both sides which tells me they just put it in a toaster. Uhhhhh, no. The coffee was mediocre but cheap. I try to support local but I wish I had just gone to McDonald's. I would have enjoyed an egg mcmuffin way more than this joke of a breakfast.

My family moved to the irvington district 5 years ago, the first thing we saw was the old bay street cofee. We vowed to make it our "cental perks friends" cofee shop. visit everyday and see rachel and ross. Today was the first day we ever set foot at this cofee shop. We're late, procrastinators. Just like the state parks and attractions that are less than an hour away and never visited, yet we will fly to hawaii and new york to visit the attractions there. So close yet so far away. The cofee is phenomenal! Had the capuccino, the place transported me to the italian coffee shops on north beach in san francisco. Retro, understated cool, the yuppy vibe without the pretentious yuppy in skinny jeans. free wifi and a good place to people watch especially on sundays. Its a good place to take a break from the haggling for $1 discount the irvington farmers market

Very happy with this once Bay Street Cafe... Bean Scene is now remodeled with fresh painted walls, new lighting, new management, and new menu. Although, I do miss the Seasons Art Nouveau artwork that was painted on the wall... You could see one at the back patio entry near the restrooms. Very happy with their coffee, pastries, and service. I would prefer coming her over Sbux. I live close by- so coming here at least once a week is nice. Even after an afternoon at Sunday's farmers market.

There is good variety of menu items for breakfast, which is good because not a lot of other coffee shops offer a good variety of breakfast menu items. Green tea latte was so so, too sweet for me even though I asked for no added sugar. The vegetable crepe was a little bit oily, but was not bad. Breakfast set was ok, was pretty normal. Tiramisu was decent, a little sweet, the upper layer of the spongey part was not soft enough and dry. The bottom part of the sponge got too soft because it absorbed too much moisture, and the layer of the sponge was too thin so the bottom part got smushed down. Workers were friendly, and interior is cozy, and it's a good place to study. I might go again to try other items.

Came by here, because the place I wanted to eat at was closed on Mondays. The food here is not bad. I had the Tuna melt with fruit and a baklava. Tuna melt was decent, wish I got the salad side instead of fruit. Their house salad is a high end greek salad. The baklava was ok, didn't taste very fresh though. Would skip that next time. Didn't get a chance to try the coffee though. This place feels like a local coffee shop next to a college. Literally everyone here was studying or working on their laptops.

Great place to spend a morning or afternoon . Atmosphere is good and friendly staff and I like how it sits on the corner , and you can watch the outside world go by while drinking their yummy lattes . I wish they would stay open as late as they used to though .

I came here for lunch with my wife. I had the roast beef panini and she had a crepe. The food was okay, but what is more concerning is that there are flies everywhere. We felt pretty skeeved out by the whole situation because it makes you wonder if there are flies in the kitchen.

Cute coffee shop. The best part is that they serve breakfast all day long, score! I love my breakfast food. Granted, their selection is limited, but it has all the basics that you need. My husband got a breakfast croissant with ham, egg and cheese and I got the same but in a crepe form. His croissant is good, but my crepe was just ok. It literally felt like they wrapped the crepe around the filling, no sauce or anything to tie the flavors together. That aside, I like the décor of the place, and the coffee was decent - $2.00 for a coffee. The store is perfectly located on the corner as well, so the window seats were great for people watching the past Sunday when everyone was headed towards the Irvington farmer's market. Cute coffee shop for sure.

What a great little place! Comfy couches and chairs, great drinks and tasty food - I love it here! Delicious chai latte plus free wifi and friendly staff that do not look at you cross-eyed if you stay a while means that I often do, with or without friends.

Bean Scene is one of my favorite cafés to go to for getting work done. Food and drinks are so-so but that's okay... Can't beat cheap coffee, free parking, and after 2 pm happy hour (pastry + coffee for $2!). Likes: - spacious + lots of tables + plenty of outlets = happy cafe-campers! - Mostly friendly staffs - great selection of coffee and food items - clean and nice cafe setup Dislikes: - Some staffs are ding-dongs - low strength coffee drinks - mediocre quality food

I love coming to this place to study or just to grab tea. I just wish they closed later! Sometimes it really sucks when I have to study because since they close at 8:00pm, I settle for Sujus :(

Excellent coffee and espresso here! Friendly service and wifi ready. Really like the refreshed decor and fresh plants. Lovely yummy pastries and a hot b'fast menu. My fav: veggie omelet! :)

We found this place when we yelped nearby breakfast places so we decided to try it out. My first impression as we walked in was yuck. There were sooooo many flies everywhere!!! Kind of killed my appetite. Other than that... The decor is ok. I like the couches. It's spacious, but as we sat down we noticed most of the tables weren't clean. There were crumbs everywhere :(. We also noticed there are plenty of outlets, possibly good for doing work. The wifi speed is average (it was empty when we went so if it's busy, the wifi will probably be slow). I got the lox on a bagel. It wasn't the best I've had but it was decent. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast set #1. He said it was average (3 stars). Overall, I would say service was decent, Food was average, decor so-so. If not for the flies everywhere, I would have rated this higher. (They kept buzzing around near me and our food :(.... Eww)

Cute little place to grab a coffee in Fremont. The food is kind of pricey and not that great. Overall the place is pretty nice. Has indoor and outdoor seating.

Coffee and latte is quite good. Beans is roasted. Nice low key laid back environment . Good for study groups, family gatherings, ladies night out.

some of these reviews feel inflated. Good but not outstanding. Love the ambiance of a local coffee shop. The eggs are microwaved. There is no kitchen. They do have lox and bagels... hard to find these days and the reason I will go back. Coffee refills are charged by size... other wise pricing is reasonable. Staff was very friendly.

The staff is so friendly!! Had a fun little conversation while ordering my white chocolate caramel mocha and pastry. The patio area outside is adorable! I popped in on a Monday afternoon to get some work done- it's a great study spot. The tables are a good size to spread all your books, papers, and laptop out on. Bonus points for outlets, free wifi, and decent views out of the windows. My drink was brought out to me in a mug (I appreciate the authentic cafe feel) with foam art! Needless to say, it was delicious! I will definitely be back to get work done or meet up with friends here when I need to switch it up from Suju's!

A remake of the old. It's an awesome and clean coffee shop that has a new owner who has given it a fresh breath of life. It still has the old vintage feel with the building but the decor has been updated with color and couches. Love it!

Bean Street Cafe replaces Bay Street Coffee...and I have to say that I really like the change. I visited on grand opening day by chance. Of course it was really crowded. There was a lot of free food for sampling that was really quite good...yet....I wasn't sure about the place. I've since gone back several times. Jury's in: I love it. The atmosphere is perfect...perfect for conversation, perfect for study. The light coming inside is great. The coffee is inexpensive and decent...served up in ample, sturdy mugs. Refills: 50 cents. Yay! I am a fan.

I love this place! I like a place that has a reward system. You buy 9 drinks and you get one free. I also enjoy supporting smaller shops unlike huge corporations like Starbucks. Nancy is extremely friendly and took the time to ask my name and now she always calls me by name. Thank you! Oh yeah and they always cook my eggs over easy for me :)

I go here to get caffeinated for my farmers market trips (so basic, I know.) The staff is really friendly and there is a lot of seating (very convenient!) Their coconut coffee is yummy. I'm taking away one star because they no longer have their raspberry almond latte, and that was delicious!

These reviews must be some kind of joke. Espresso was unrecognizable, watery, and obscenely bitter. Food quality was straight up poor. Looked like it just came out of a microwave and tasted as bad. If you are going to serve some damn coffee, please learn how to prepare it correctly and please give at least 1 damn about making a quality product. The tables weren't clean, and flies were buzzing around. The owners should be embarrassed. So bad it was insulting. Don't waste your money here.

I like this place a lot. Great coffee drinks and other selection of drinks and food. Everything I tried was tasty and fresh. The staff is very friendly and genuine. The place is comfortable with a nice area to hang out if that is your thing.

Thank goodness for Bean Scene Cafe! We were staying at a nearby hotel for a wedding and my husband needs espresso in the morning. We found Bean Scene to get our caffeine fix at half the price of the hotel breakfast. Also wonderful food. I had a quiche that was quiet delicious and my husband had an almond croissant that was almost as big as his face. Ambiance is also perfect for a coffee shop. Can not recommend this place more!

I rarely write reviews so each one has purpose. The proprietor of Bean Scene was kind and attentive when it came to my coffee, which hit all the basic requirements. But I specifically needed a coffee shop with WiFi to work for an hour. When I inquired about the WiFi, he said yes we have WiFi. It turns out the connection was spotty at best and basically unusable for any cloud-base apps and barely usable for email. I left after 8 min but not before expressing my displeasure. I told him specifically that I would not have bought a coffee here if I knew the WiFi wasn't working. Even though he knew his WiFi wasn't working, he took my money anyway. So why three stars? I'm not going to put one star down because the WiFi didn't work. He was kind, the coffee was decent. But I will never come back here and I won't recommend it to others if they plan on working. For new venues, a three star rating can be devastating so I post this with my eyes wide open.

This place keeps changing names, and I guess ownership? The location and overall vibe is great from anything to a quick date or a study group. My only suggestion, is not to sit next to the window facing the street. Headlights from the cars turning at the intersection have the tendency to blind you. Which I'm not sure about you, but it made it harder to study. The place was full and that was the only table left.

My heart was broken when I found out Bean Scene was replacing Bay Street, but I gave it a try and I'm happy I did. I came for lunch and had a chai latte and a chicken melt. Both were delicious! The workers are nice, and the atmosphere is super comfortable for anything from a casual date to working on a school project. Edit: I originally gave 5 stars but I've been back two times now and the chicken melt hasn't been the same. They've become soggier and messier. Maybe it depends on the cook that day. The chai latte is still amazing though.

Really, really good prices on sandwiches. They have good specials, and the sandwiches are damn tasty. They have a special from 2-closing on weekdays where you get a bagel and coffee for $2. That's unheard of . Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. No complaints so far. This is going to become my go-to spot.

The service is good, however, why do they close so early??? Loved the other owners they were different in terms of the college student/young adult coffee shop. Plus this place charges too much. Disappointed & taking my business elsewhere.

Ambiance and energy at this place is everything a coffee shop ought to be. Great location and plenty of windows to people watch or to just enjoy the great summer weather. Great location makes finding this local gem so easy. Staff and new management has done a wonderful bringing this place back to life. Not only are the staff knowledgeable and friendly but the coffee and food are amazing as well. I must if you live or are near Tri Valley area.

Yummy coffee & cute cafe. Fast wifi which is a definite plus because some cafes have the slowest wifi. Good lighting and spacious. I was sad that the flowers next to the windows were fake though :( But I'll definitely be coming back! Only con is this place can be a big dirty.

Coffee is coffee. I have been a Starbucks fan forever but during the farmers market today I tried a blended white mocha (basically a frapicino) made by the owner himself, Kenny, and it was far better than any I ever had at Starbucks or Petes! Kenny knows how to do it right! I am a Bean Scene groupie for life. I'll be back to try some of those home made pastries! See ya in the AM.

Randomly driving through looking for something else & thought this place looked cute. Staff is really nice, they have a good, simple menu - I had a salad. And the drinks are great. Nice big windows for a sunny day too, they have wifi - and couches.

Best chai tea latte I've ever had! I would definitely recommend this place! They also have a pretty bomb chicken panini. Loved it! And I'm definitely going to be back.

Great architecture and decor, in a building from the late 19th century. I stopped in for coffee and was pleasantly surprised that they serve breakfast all day! The food and prices were great. I will be back. :-)

This place used to be Bay Street Coffee. Grand Opening was yesterday from 10am to 2pm with lots of free coffee and food. Even a band was playing some nice tune I got to tried the Black Mountain Latte, and the taste was very rich. The guy behind the counter said it was made with Dark Chocolate and Blackberry -- Yummy! They also offer booba and smoothie! Will be back to try other drinks.

I'm sorry, I went there excited to find a great lunch and was sorely disappointed. Not only was I standing there a number of minutes before I was acknowledged by one of the employees. The guy behind the counter looked right past me as he called out orders that were set on the top of the counter for the people to come and get. HUH? Then I was helped by a nice lady with a darling smile but it took many minutes before this happen. Ok. made the order for my family four sandwiches and a drink (three of us just got water) They had a nice water dispenser with small plastic cups for us, ok, but it was about empty and I had to lean it off the counter to get any. I understand and this wouldn't be a big deal but it stayed that way the entire time we were there. The sandwiches came a LONG time between one another. I finally got mine and the sandwich was sat in the juice from the fruit and the bottom slice of bread was soggy! Now, I was THRILLED with the amount of fruit and the price, it was pretty good. But darn with the time we waited to then get the sandwich one side VERY soggy, thta was a bummer. On the way out I got a "have a nice day" from the young man that never said one word to me when I was waiting to order, I was surprised when he said anything. And there was some cleaning issues. I know one thing after I drop $28 I expect someone to clean my table for me. I don't want to beat them up but honestly, I was disappointed.

Awesome service! The barista that helped us answered all our questions and gave us a sample of their macadamia nut coffee (yum!). I got the piña islander juice and my fiend got the immunity juice, both were GREAT! We shared the spinach empanada for a snack and it was also really good. We will definitely be back :)

Just like most of the Fremont residents, I have been living around the Irvington area for quite a while, but put off visiting this place for whatever reason. The staff was very friendly and were willing to suggest drinks for me to try. I ordered a Chai and an oatmeal cookie. The chai was delicious (I added more cinnamon) , but I guess the cookie needed some work. Anyway, overall, Ill definitely be coming if I need a quiet, warm place to get things done.

good coffee. latte was creamy and the art was beautiful, the vanilla ice latte was also the just right amount of sweetness. only thing is that there could be more outlets... only because nowadays many people use cafes as a workspot. but the coffee is spot on(:

I was disappointed. Place is filthy. Portions and size are misleading. They should have a menu with pictures. Quality of the food is mediocre and McDonald's still wins over this hands on. U am not sure where people giving high ratings ate before.

My wife and I had high hopes for this place as the old "Bay Street Coffee" had languished for years at this location...Under new ownership, the Bean Scene Cafe is sort of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". The Good: The staff was cheerful and friendly, the menu extensive and the mocha's well prepared and tasty. Price was reasonable. The Bad: There's no way to sugar-coat it, the new owners went "cheap" on the remodel. The decor is tacky, cold and uninviting. The scattered cherry blossom, orchids and bamboo reminds us of a cheap, run-down Chinese restaurant. In this historic building, a Cafe boasting crepes on the menu could and should feel like REAL Cafe...The Ugly: This is a large old Victorian building with high ceilings and feels a little "cold" as I said. While the two employees kept busy cleaning what they could, the aforementioned lack of decor mixed with what looks like the old furniture from Bay Street Coffee is, well, Ugly.
