All four stars goes to the Pad Se Ew with beef!!! It is seriously the best I'd ever had. The noodle is thin and chewy and the sauce is not too sweet. We also ordered Roti, Papaya Salad, and Tom Ka Chicken (soup). The Roti and Tom Ka Chicken are pretty standard. But the Papaya Salad was way too spicy even though we asked for less spicy.

The food was delicious but the service was atrocious. It took forever for every step of our meal. We waited and waited to be served...and then waited and waited for our drinks...for our food to be brought out...you get the picture. I think it took us about the same amount of time to eat our meal as it did for them to get us out bill so we could leave. We kept on having to remind the server we wanted to pay. I don't know about you, but service at a restaurant is half the experience and with the experience we had here, as good as the food was, we probably won't be coming back ever. It's kind of a shame.

I would have given no star if possible .. For the waste service ... The place stinks ... Feels like a total different world full of alien waiters .. The lady waitress is very rude ..... I did not like the food too

Went here with a groupon offer. They do have decent food (NOT great but good enough) but service is bad. When we entered the restaurant, we felt like we were not welcome there, then it only took 10 minutes for someone to come and take order and we were told at 9:25 that the kitchen closes in 5 min and we have to order the desert right then (so don't go after 9 pm to this restaurant, lesson learned). At the end, they just grabbed the credit card out of my hands and rushed. just felt like they would kick us out if we stayed a minute later than 10:00 pm.

Food is good. I been coming here on and off since years back and I went back a week ago because of the Groupon deal. My usual food is top-notch pad ped cat fish. Chicken satay is also good. I ordered the blazing beef or something like that and it was just meh.... really not worth the price of $13... Service sucks so bad though. On that night, there were these 2 guys who don't really care about 'service' but rather just taking order and delivering food.. They just dont care about the customers at all.. Maybe I'll come back, but not for awhile.

This place will never see another cent of mine again. One of the waitresses was extremely rude all the time and one of us walked out hungry, she never got her dinner and they never bothered to even inquire whether we got our order or not. On top of that, when we refused to pay gratuity on account of poor service the owner has the balls to direct racist comments at us saying "Americans are nice and you are not." Will never set foot again and I'm appalled that this Thai owner who doesn't even speak fluent English and neither has the capacity to understand it, has the nerve to direct racist comments at us. Good luck with your failing business.

Moderate-sized Thai restaurant located on the corner (along Fremont Blvd) of a small shopping plaza near Sprouts, Jamba Juice, Boston Market, and Starbucks. They share a parking lot with the neighboring stores, so parking shouldn't be an issue. We ordered to-go on a weekend evening, and were surprised to see that the restaurant was completely empty. We ordered 2 dinner entrees (green curry & pad thai), a side of steamed rice (they give you a really, really small portion so I recommend getting a few), and a dessert (mango & sticky rice) for $30 - a bit pricey, but not too bad. The green curry was flavorful & savory but quite spicy; It would have been nice if we could have selected how hot we wanted our dish to be. The pad thai & mango/sticky rice were good, but nothing special. Overall, we were pleased with our food. The portions were also pretty big so we had some leftovers to eat the next day :) Our only peeve was that when we handed our credit card to the cashier, he actually asked us if we could pay by cash because it's "just easier". Right next to the cashier station, they boldly have a sign that states that they 'accept credit cards!' - The customers shouldn't be pushed by store employees to use one method of payment over the other, especially when they have a sign stating that credit cards are okay. This irked us.

Below average tasting food for above average prices ... with a mix of poor service. A solid recipe for not going there even with a Groupon. Also, if you are watching your calories, watch out for all the extra oily food ... might be trying to make up for the lack of thai taste.

Ordered phad thai and pumpkin curry. The tofu in the phad thai was rubbery... how the heck they manage to do that anyways (a first for me =\ ) and the noodles had a dry texture to it. The taste was off too; missing that slight sweet tangy taste. Pumpkin curry was a big disappointment too. The pumpkins used were either old or starting to rot. It was a bit slimy and mushy to eat and i could barely taste the curry over it. For people who are use to the asian flavors I wouldn't recommend this particular restaurant. And if I was rating the place on service and price it would have been a 0 or 1. Overall, unappetizing foods, poor service and over priced. So no thank you; won't be coming back anytime soon.

Great food. But very slow service during rush hours. Unless you're rolling 10+ Deep, you're probably going to be last priority. I suggest you dress nice and expensive so they think you're rich and hope you leave a fat tip but really you won't because you feel bad for people like me who got their food 20 minutes late

We had a Groupon for $18 for $30 worth of food. We had not gotten the chance to use it and the coupon had expired. I tried to use it for lunch today for just the amount paid. I called in my order for a meal just under $18. The man on the phone asked what amount the groupon was for.. I told him $18.... He says no what was it for .... I told him $18 for $30 worth of food. He tells me I need to order more. So I ask him if he was giving me the original deal even though it had expired......He said yes. I order a little extra. I didn't think anything of it, sometimes people extend their offers. So when I get there they charge me the full amount. I remind him that I just talked to him on the phone and he tells me he was confused. I had stopped on my way home from a bike ride so I didn't have enough money on me so I asked him to just give me my original offer. He tells me "NO! You already ordered!" I say because you told me to order more. His response....."I was confused". Ok so the breakdown was on your end... He says I ordered so I have to pay. He knocked a few dollars off but I still had to pay extra because I was hungry and I didn't want to cause a nasty scene. Bottom line he was very rude even told me I shouldn't use coupons! Lol His rudeness turned the situation into something ugly. He admitted that HE was confused... That was not my fault.. I was clear about my expired Groupon worth $18. Anyway... Staff was rude... Very rude! We ordered basil chicken and chicken and broccoli and a couple of other items....Flavor was alright but it was very dry. Not a good experience at all.

This is my love/hate relationship with bahn thai: 1) See groupon - buys it 2) go to restaurant 3) remember how ludicrously slow their service is. Question why i came here again 4) see groupon again, buy it Rinse and repeat for several months

We've been coming here occasionally for years now. The food is delicious, there is no doubt about it. Service is average. However, we've been disappointed recently due to the dwindling portion sizes -- in both dine-in and especially in take-out. A few nights ago we got take-out of the Yellow curry and Pad See Ew, and there were very few pieces of chicken in the curry. The pieces that were in there were thin and small. We had basically ordered a tub of sauce and a meager amount of meat. The portion of Pad See Ew was very small too, so our meal was very unsatisfying overall. I suspect it's easier to skimp out on take-out as the customer won't be able to see what they get until they get home. I don't think their food is worth the price, even though it does taste great. Unfortunately this is the reason why I don't come here more often. It's really too bad.

This was our second visit to Bahn Thai after a pretty mediocre first visit. We were pleasantly surprised at the difference we saw. We had a very cheerful waiter who was very good and attended to our questions. On to the food... We ordered the Bahn Thai fried rice, some Mussamun curry and a Pad Thai for a table of 2. The food arrived in 10 minutes while we sipped our Thai iced teas. The quantity was substantial and the quality was good. I have had a few Pad Thai's but this one was really something. I wouldn't rate the Mussamun curry very high but it did go well with the fried rice. The total came to about $35 with tax. All in all, not a bad meal at all. Great value for money if you go in with a groupon that they almost always have. ==================================================Â=================== Just an update for groupons users. - Bahn Thai Fremont no longer has a menu online and the ones found on other websites are pretty outdated. If you are ordering via phone, be ready for some sticker shock. - Bahn Thai Fremont have starting charging a 15% gratuity even for a table of two for people holding Groupons (eat-in or carryout). Do bear that mind before you place a tip or are ordering over the phone for a pickup.

I am a Fremont native and have been to Banh Thai on several occasions, always to leave extremely disappointed. The food in general is alright, but the customer service is absolutely horrible, and it's due to the manager himself. One time we went there (a party of 4), he added a 15-20% tip by himself to the bill, which is definitely something he should NOT be doing since we weren't even a big party. Another time, we had a Groupon for $60 worth of food in $30, and it clearly stated in the title it was either for dining in or carrying out. We wanted to carry out, and when I showed the manager the groupon, he said that he "knows everything" since he's the manager, and that the groupon is NOT for carrying out (only dining in). I told him that if that is the case, he should talk to Groupon and fix it because it's misleading otherwise. He then proceeded to tell me that he's letting this go this one time since he's the manager and made it seem he was doing a favor on us! When we came to pick up our order, he didn't give us a receipt and just shoved the bag of food toward us. His attitude has consistently been the worst, and I hope he realizes that there is not a shortage of good Thai restaurants in the Bay Area; if he wants to remain in business, he needs to make some major customer service improvements.

An update: I have been to Banh Thai for 5th time now. Last night I finished a plate of Pad Kee Mao and this morning, I was staying in restroom all the time suffering from diarrhea. I couldn't go to work today at all. I just threw up badly an hour ago and it's all Pad Kee Mao :( It makes me doubt about safety of their food! Seriously, I've never experienced anything like this for years. I also remembered that their forks and spoons weren't cleaned quite well. There was oil on it which I can wipe off. My wife and I are spicy food lover! The spiciness couldn't be the cause of my sickness. I will probably contact my lawyer if my diarrhea doesn't stop in a few days. This Restaurant is Officially on my Shit List. ---------------original review--------------------------------------------Â------------------------------- Tasty Thai food with quite reasonable price. The banh fried rice was really good! Will come again

Real nice restaraunt with friendly staff and amazing food. They have the best green curry I have tried in all of fremont. I also love their roti and papaya salad. You really get your money worths when coming to banh thai. I have never been disappointed when I come here. Always great dishes and amazing flavor.

Have eaten here a few times now. My cousin only eats seafood and vegetables so we like to eat here because their menu is so vast, we can always find items we both love and can share. She introduced me to this place. She orders a tofu salad medium which is just so delicious and yummy. It has tofu, of course, tomato slices, red onion, cilantro and is served tossed in a light dressing. It is refreshing and yummy. This time I ordered the spring rolls as my cousin had never tried them before. They are so light and tasty, I just love them. The mint leaves with the other fresh ingredients that give it that lovely crunch when you bite into it and then the taste the shrimp adds, coupled with a little chili sauce and peanut sauce is just delectable. We finished them off. We also ordered the basil fish which is fried to perfection and then served in a light sauce with basil and bean sprouts. We chose the pampano and I have to say it was everything fried fish should be. In addition, we ordered the vegetarian rice served in a pineapple. Also amazing. We ate to our hearts content and took home enough leftovers for 2 more meals. Always impressed with their food and will keep going back.

Today I finally learned how to use restaurant.com and printed off the $25 GC. I picked up my friends in Fremont at their new place and we drove to Banh. The service was awesome and the food was pretty darn good. I ordered the seafood red curry, as I do at any Thai place. My favorite seafood red curry is found at Toomies in Alameda. Banh is a close second. The price point is perfect and we were all happy. Anyone that has left a bad rating should try it again. Maybe you caught them on an off night. Banh is a must visit got the Thai enthusiast. Blessings....

So glad Banh Thai got on the Restaurant.com bandwagon. It's been awhile since I've been to back due to a very tight budget, but was able to return recently to order my favorite Thai food! The Satay Chicken and Pork are a family FAV, along w/the Stuffed Chicken wings. Pineapple Rice and Pad Thai prove to be always part of our meal selection whenever dining at Banh Thai.

I'd give it 3.5 if I could. It's quite good. Love their lemongrass soup and yellow curry. Service isn't the best, but that's okay. I don't know that I've ever had excellent service in many asian restaurants. eh, it is what it is. I LOVE their brown (red) rice!!!!

Awesome Thai place, with nice decor and fast service. The portions are excellent the prices are great value. I love coming here and often bring out-of-town visitors. I highly recommend the pad thai, banh thai fried rice (pineapple fried rice), mango chicken, and green curry. I believe you can order ahead online as well.

The fiance and I decided to stop at Banh Thai Restaurant for dinner. Located right across the street from the Fremont Hub, Banh Thai Restaurant is your typical Thai Restaurant. Plenty of seating in here and the environment was nice enough that I could have a conversation with my fiance without feeling like I needed to shout to talk to her. Decor is a bit dated, but that's ok. We got here and was immediately seated. The waiter gave us our menu. Typical Thai style menu with probably about 70 different selections. Appetizers will usually run you around $5 - $7, noodles and soups will go around $7 - $10, and main dishes such as pork, beef, seafood or chicken you're looking around $8 - $15. For you vegetarians out there, there are several options to choose from besides the "salad" because many of their dishes they can substitute tofu instead meat. We put in our order for a big bowl of vegetarian soup, I got a shrimp eggroll appetizer, and we split a spicy version of Buddha's Delight with brown rice. As we chatted, we got the vegetarian noodle soup and the shrimp appetizer. Wow, they weren't kidding when they said big. Plenty of noodles and veggies in this soup. Enough to feed 4 and was good to offset a cold night. The shrimp eggroll appetizers were good only problem I had was they left tails on. I hate when they do that and fry the whole thing together. The dipping sauce was good too and while skinny there was about 6 - 8 so plenty to share around. We got our Buddha's delight and brown rice and again a generous serving of each. Again enough to feed 4, plenty of veggies and tofu and the spicy level was a bit hot for my end. I ended up drinking lots of water that meal. We both enjoyed it and really went well with brown rice. Service was nice as the waiter was there to refill our glasses and answer any questions. Only wierd thing was when he brought us our bill at the end of the night, had to pay up front. Not bad, just a bit wierd for a sitdown kind of place. At the end of the night it cost about $40 including tip. Not too bad considering that we also had plenty of leftovers so we got 2 meals for the price of 1. As to the rating, everything was just fine. Nothing here blew my mind. The food was good, the service was good, but just nothing special IMHO. I would definitely consider coming back to Banh Thai Restaurant in the future if I'm in the area and looking for Thai food. It just doesn't come to the top of list nor would I drive out of my way either. So for me that says average and Banh Thai Restaurant gets an average 3 star performance.

Ordered take out, mi order was taken in a mostly prompt manner. Perhaps a few minutes waiting to order. They said 10 minutes, food was ready in five. Combination beef/chicken satay, was cool they let me do a combo, very tasty. 7 pieces at ~$1/piece is a good deal. Meal: under chefs special the peanut chicken over spinach(I don't remember the exact name), very very tasty(especially if you like peanut sauce and peanuts), could have had less sauce, but still excellent. they put the to go food in aluminum foil prior to the take away dish, excellent idea for a no spill drive. Rice options include brown rice which immediately gives them extra points, especially coming from east coast. bottom line, I'd go back.

Boy, did I want to beat my boyfriend's butt when I found out he'd committed to eating here before reading the Yelp reviews. In his defense, our friend spelled the name wrong and he initially couldn't FIND it, but still. RODENT PROBLEMS?! When I heard that, I just about fell over and died. Unlike Daniela A., I did not have the privilege of seeing any rodents at Banh Thai. I did, however, have the same feeling as everyone else who has shared their experience with Yelp--terrible, terrible service, and "nothing special" food. In the Bay Area, we are lucky to have many wonderful choices for dinner. The food at Banh Thai isn't good enough for me to choose it over other Thai options, and the service sucks so hard that I would rather go somewhere else. And honestly, even the RUMOR of rodents is enough to send me packing. BLEH--it makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

We recently had Banh Thai cater food for a party of 50 (note they don't deliver). Watson, the manager, gave us great advise on what kinds of dishes to serve for a party situation, how many dishes, what combinations, etc. Out of all the places we had quoted, they had the best prices by far. I was concerned we wouldn't have enough food, but in the end I think we could have served 25 more people. The food was available on time and packaged well for travel. Finally, most importantly, the food was excellent. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend them.

My friends, family, and I frequent Banh Thai as it's the closest Thai restaurant to us. We always order the green curry, the red curry, the panang curry, the pineapple fried rice, pad thai, pad seyu and steamed chinese broccoli with no meat. We strayed once and ordered some kind of shrimp dish, and didn't have enough shrimp for the whole party. So that was the last time we did that. We definitely do not go there for service, and don't expect much with it being a somewhat small hole in the wall. Every time we go there, I sense the pressure of them wanting you to order right away, and getting someone's attention on a refill of water is a task. If it wasn't for the food and the location (because it's a 2 minute drive from my house), we probably wouldn't return.

Consistantly good food. I love the Satay Chicken and their Panang is wonderful. Meat is usually well cooked with fresh vegetables. Service ranges from OK to terrible. If you call in an order check it before going home.

Seong P.
it's a big restaurant with plenty of seating. i didn't see any rodents, thank god, but had i known beforehand, i would not have gone. we had the steamed pompano fish, fried rice, papaya salad and green chicken curry. everything was fine except that they put a lot of peas in their dishes. i hate peas. the papaya salad was probably the best thing we had. i had no problem with the service but i don't think i can eat here again.

I went there a while ago and the service attitude sucked. Food was OK. We were a party of four(2 adults and 2 kids) and the bill came with gratuity of 18% added automatically. The waitress who took our order had a hard time understanding a simple order(she could talk English BTW). To make matters worse the service wasn't deserving of even a 10% tip. Ever since that experience I have stayed away from this place and have also mentioned the experience to many of our friends.

this is the second time I am here. food is still decent but we got a sticker shock when the bill came. we are a party of five and the restaurant had automatically added not 15 but 18% of tip despite the menu had said 15%. the waiter was not willing to lower it. we are not happy after dinner.

UPDATE 10-23-2010 I DOn't know if they got a new cook or what but the last few tiimes I ordered the Pad Thai it was no good yesterday it was a completely different noodle used and it was not good.********** Ordered to go the Pineapple Rice (Banh Thai Fried Rice) thought I was going to be disappointed since I called it in for pick up so it did nto come inside a pineapple but they put pineapple chucks in there and I sub the meat fro tofu cooked Just Right!!!! EVERY KIND OF VEGGIE in the rice that you could think of you don't even have to ask for your favortie cuz it's probably already in there: Broc Green Beans Egg Carrot Split pea (green) Cabbage baby corns and peas......what more can you ask for? and it's HELLLA GOOD!!!!! oh and raisens and water chestnuts Veggies are also cut right! (No big chucks of carrots) Also ordered the Pad Thai and that looks Scrumptious : Again Sub. the meat for tofu again cooked JUST RIGHT!!! Veggies that come inside of it cooked: Peas Split Pea (green) baby corn egg green beans carrots cooked and to the side cold: more sheddred carrots and sprouts and purple cabbage shredded along with peanuts and a piece of lemon I liked both and I am very, very, picky I liked the rice more maybe it was the cashews nuts on top? Price was $20.00 - FOR A LOT OF FOOD Def. for 2 and I am 1. Next time I will ask for broc in the Pad Thai You will NOT be disappointed if you order the Pineapple Rice!

Folks who say this is good Thai food have no taste buds, or have never eaten at any other Thai restaurant. This was the most bland Thai food I have ever eaten in my life. I have Gringo Mouth, so you might think I'd like bland food, but there was no *taste* along with the no *spiciness.* The service was just as insipid and weak as the food. There are many, many better Thai restaurants in the Bay Area - there's one that just opened up in the shopping center on Walnut near Liberty, in fact, where Shalimar is. Go there instead.

Stale food! Horrible service! We were here just 2 days ago and swear not to go back again - ever. They mixed up our order - gave us fish when we mentioned we are vegetarians a million times. The pine apple fried was stale and Tom ka soup tasted cold. There are many many Thai restaurants around- please don't waste your time and money here!

This was my first visit to Bahn Thai and I must say that it was a hit. We had a coupon from restaurants.com and we ordered enough to reach the 35 dollar threshold. I have to say that that's way more food for two people, so the wonderful Mango Prawns and Pad Thai noodles made its appearance at breakfast. We came there on Friday, July, 22 before going to Stage One's well executed performance of the Wedding Singer. This is one of the few times where I can honestly say that the food was excellent and the show that I saw with my wife was outstanding. I must be getting soft because I can't say anything remotely nasty about the restaurant or the musical that I saw. Anyway, nice find for Thai in Fremont, CA.

The first time I came here, it was for a work-related lunch. Sure it was good then, but once your boss goes into a phase of when they want it for lunch every other week, you kinda grow tired of it. :\ Their red curry chicken was pretty good, but just becomes mediocre when you start to compare it to other Thai places. I guess a good side to this place is that their lunch special is a pretty good deal.
(2)
Shari D.
You know, I like their food. It's good and there's a lot on the lunch specials. You get a little soup, a little salad, and the main course, which comes with two whopping scoops of rice and then your dish. All that's around $7. Their Thai iced tea is delicious, too... very creamy! The only thing I guess I have against the place is that I've never gotten great service there, it's not super friendly. It's not unfriendly either, just kind of indifferent. Also, the decor leaves a lot to be desired. Still, it's a great bargain for a Thai lunch!

I was in the neighbor and craving some Thai food so I decided to try it blindly. I should have looked up the yelp reviews on my phone. It was okay... bland but not horrible. Staff was nice to me though. After reading the reviews I guess I should count myself lucky. My only real issue is I ordered a papaya salad and I didn't see any papaya which makes me wonder. Maybe they misunderstood me and gave me a different salad.. odd.. I guess. Hmm. I don't think I'll come here again.. not for any reason. I'd like to try other local places though so this place will give me something to compare the other places too. I guess that works!

I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants in the Bay, Sacramento area, and Hawaii and I've gotta say Banh Thai is my favorite. My family and I might come here about twice a month and almost always get the same thing: Banh Thai fried rice (pineapple), Pad Thai, garlic and pepper chicken, steamed mussels, and a vegetable and beef dish (forgot what the name is). Sometimes we get a curry, too. It's all good! Service is great. There was a period of time in the past two years that they were closed for renovation or something. We were sad! We rejoiced when it finally reopened. Great restaurant!

My husband and I had our lunch here today. We had Tom Yum Soup and tofu yellow curry. They are both in the huge containers but the taste is ... just so so. But the waiters here are nice, they refilled the water again and again, with a smile on his face. So I'd like to give 3.5 stars if Yelp permitted. I may come back to try the red curry on lunch special sometime.

Isabel K.
Service is horrible. We sat there for 15 minutes before we even got water. We got our main dish when we were finished eating everything else so it ended up being MAIN DISH, "CHECK PLEASE!!!" Quite funny actually because I tried yelping it in the car before we got there, but I cancelled it. I regret it now.......

This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant. The staff here is a lot more friendly than many other local restaurants and the food here is great and decently priced. I especially like the atmosphere and the decorations in this restaurant. Even when ordering to-go, this place moves fast, which is part of the reason why I like coming here.
(5)
Anne N.
The food and portions (huge) were great. The service was super slow for a place that was empty when we walked in. Prices were affordable. The number of customers picked up around afternoon. We went for an early lunch. Good for groups or dates. I'd come again. I don't understand the other reviews about how bad this place was. Thought I'd try it and it was decent.

Their stuffed chicken leg is outstanding but the curry is about average. Skip the iced tea because it tasted like Southern "Sweet Tea." I like this place especially after working on late night projects at a nearby client. There is a Starbucks right around the corner so I can get some caffeine after eating @ Banh Thai.

I've eaten here 3 times already. The food is good. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews. The customer service could be better, but overall the food is yummy! I love their mango chicken, crab fried rice, vegetable fried rice (yummiest!). Their chicken satay is not bad. I tried the Tom Ka Chicken soup. It has a little of sourness to it, but it's quite delish. Their mango with sticky rice is quite good! Although I would prefer them not to put those crunchy, yellow bits on the rice...don't know what it is...Definately give this place a try!

The food was okay... didn't blow me away or anything. We got the banh thai fried rice (served in a pineapple shell) and the bangkok chicken (in what tasted like ketchup sauce). The staff is not attentive. the hostess did not even look up as we walked through the door and our waitress forgot our drink orders altogether. Needless to say, we will not be returning here.

I've been putting off writing a review for this place for a very, very long time because I feel really bad for what I am about to say, but it's the truth: Banh Thai has a rodent problem. I used to frequent Banh Thai because I have always enjoyed their food, so a couple months ago I took a friend there. He was visiting from out of town and felt like getting Thai food for dinner, so I told him about Banh Thai and how they had the best Thai food in Fremont. He liked my description of the food, so he was eager to go try it out. We ordered Pad Thai, red curry, yellow curry and green papaya salad, which were all very good while we were having some great conversations- until all of a sudden my friend pointed at the floor and gasped. There was a rat scurrying under the tables. It ran around the floor for a little while, although nobody noticed except the three of us at our table, and then it ran into the kitchen. I had already had several doubts about Banh Thai being sanitary. I had found hair and eyelashes in my food several times prior to this incident, but I always kind of ignored it (I know, I know... it's kind of gross that I continued going there all the time even after the hair incidents, but the food was good!) After seeing actual rats in the restaraunts I have completely stopped going there. I'm glad I did because I have discovered other Thai restaraunts in the area that are much better than Banh Thai ever was, and with much better (and friendlier) service.

My favorite thai restaurant in the bay area. I love the mango vegetable dish here. It is by far my favorite asian dish on the planet - especially when you ask for it spicy. It is served in a mango peel, w/ the fruit removed and is remnant of a basil chicken dish - but of course without the chicken. The spring rolls, thai soups and other dishes are also worth a try. It is also very vegetarian friendly (and accordingly is always packed with indian folks) and has several pages of vegetarian-only options.

I agree with the others that the food is tasty, but the service sucks in a an indifferent kinda way. I had the hardest time getting a water refill - same deal - they run right by and might see you, but don't stop. If I'm in a Thai restaurant, I need water, period.

Yummy pineapple fried rice. I'm not too sure how sanitary it is to wash out the leftover rice out of the pineapple and then refill the pineapple w/ fried rice and then serve it again????

the food is fine, but the service is horrible, and with our proximity to many other five-star thai establishments, i probably won't be back soon...

the food is excellent although they do have persnicketty and pompous wait staff. he gave me a dirty look when i had left overs and i didn't want to take it home with me.

I'm very picky of where I go for Thai food and I look for cleanliness, friendly customer service, of course reasonable pricing, and the quality and how authentic the Thai food is. Bahn Thai fits all the criteria. I would definitely go back here again. My friend's girlfriend requested for an authentic spicy beef dish that is very tasty and had a great amount of heat anyone that likes spicy food would enjoy. The Pad Thai is the best I've had and had surrounding the noodles fresh vegetables so you can mix them yourself. Being a vegi eater more than eating steam rice this is very refreshing. Another dish I shared with my friends was a lamb dish that had for sure a memorable visual presentation worth ordering again to see it and most importantly eat. Stacked light and cripsy fried onion rings in the center of the dish with a stalk of green onion sliced half-way to appear like a tree and place within the center of the stack onion rings. The lamb was yummy! We also had an appetizer of boneless stuff chicken leg and wing. Boneless and stuff to the max with delicious flaky meat and covered with a light crunchy batter and fried to a perfect light brown. The pricing was just right and they even had a great choice of lunch specials. When I went which was about 7:30PM to 9:30PM Bahn Thai had a steady stream of customers from singles to groups of families. That is always a great sign to observe I even notice orders being picked up so I believe they offer take out. Very nice. The wait staff was also very friendly and never abandon the table and provided the attention to our needs. Thank you Bahn Thai! You'll see me again!

This restaurant is not good. We ordered the dungeness crab for an appetizer and it came with two pieces of not-that-fresh really greasy crab, with a ton of tempura vegetables (??). The yellow curry was decent, but the Pad Thai was overly sugary and used a really thin noodle. The sauteed eggplant had a really bland favor, and was again, mixed with a bunch of undercooked other vegetables, like carrots. The service was really slow and the waiter not that friendly. I definitely prefer Salathai.

We have decided to not to go to Banh Thai again in our live. Many many reasons to list.

I've lived in Fremont pratically all my life, but only recently tried out this jem. I gotta say by far the best Thai Restaurant. Not only do they have good service, good food, but their portions are good too. Unlike other Thai restaurants they give a good decent size (I usually have left overs).

Pad Thai is excellent. Prices are reasonable for the portions you get. I've been to other thai restaurants that don't give much for your money. The service is a little slow, but the food is worth it. The crab fried rice is really good. Will come back.

This is surprisingly one of the best places in this area for Thai food. When I first walked in I was greeted by a very friendly person who immediately seated me. What I really like is when I do not feel like eating here, they have an online system where I can order and have it picked up and ready at a certain time. Definitely a plus. As for the food, I usually order the Panang Curry Beef or Panang Curry Chicken. It has this creamy consistency because it is made with coconut that gives it a sweet taste to it as well. A big bonus of this place is the rice that comes with your meals. This rice is genuine Thai Rice and when I asked the owner about it, she told me that this rice was imported from Thailand. Now for those of you who do not know the difference, genuine thai rice is much more tastier than other rice. I went to thailand last year and was given a ten minute lecture on the differences between thai rice and regular rice. If your looking for a good appetizer go for the shrimp cake or the roti. As for dessert, the mango sweet rice is a very big bonus as this is one of the few places that make it this good! Again because of the genuine thai rice. 5 stars because this is the best thai food in this area.

I guess the only thing that's crackin' here is their Pad Thai Noodles. Everything else tastes bland and watered down especially the curries. This is not exactly a bad place if you can't tell the difference between Chinese food, and Authentic Thai food, but at the price they offer, I've tasted far better.

Before I came to this restaurant, I had the mindset of "it's impossible to screw up Thai food". Well I was wrong. The food just isn't good and the prices are too high given the quality. About the only thing that didn't suck about this place was the service.

This place was a disappointment. I stopped in for the lunch special and was treated to "whatever table you want" even though none of them were set. The waiter fixed that by throwing a table setting from elsewhere onto my table with the menu. The salad that came with the lunch was a few leaves of wilted lettuce with a dressing that seemed to be equal parts mayo and mustard with some hydrogenated oil mixed in. After I finished looking at the salad, I was treated to my sweet and sour soup. The veggies looked like they were out of a Campbell's can and the soup tasted like vegetable stock. The noodle dish was unremarkable. One star for having a cheap lunch deal. One star for having reasonable quality beef.

I love their soup, although it's kinda hard to mess up soup. However, their pad thai was worth mentioning. They recommended me their curry, but I'm not that adventurous. The portions were decent and the prices were reasonable. Their chicken and peanut sauce was pretty tasty. It's a convenient Thai place to eat if you're an Fremont.

I have nothing bad to say about their food. I ate there for the first time recently, and liked it so much I had to go back again a few days later. The chicken satay was extremely juicy, and they had delicious peanut sauce. I also tried both the red curry with chicken and the musaman curry. Both are really good, but the musaman was made with coconut milk, which gave it an amazing, mouth-watering flavor. The curry was medium hot, which is the way I like it. If you like it Thai hot, you may need to ask them to make it that way. They also have really great pad Thai and fried rice. I even ordered a few things I'd never tried before and I was pleased with both of them. One was a prawn dish with bean noodles (under the seafood section) and I have completely forgotten the name of the other dish... It had beef and eggplant in a delicious sauce, and I think the word "dong" was in the name... Really tasty, either way. I loved all of it, and I was pleased to see that when we ordered white rice on the side, we got a more than generous helping. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that the service is a little slow. The first time we only got one refill of our water. The second time no one came to take our order for 10 minutes. However, the food comes out good and hot, and everything tastes great.

Medioce Thai food. The Ice Coffee was good though.

Agree with others that the service is way sub-par. However the food presentation, extensively diverse menu, reasonable price and quality of the product make it worth while. Lots of Thai places come and go in Fremont so the fact this one has been around a while speaks a lot (though having the good location probably helps as well). I rated a 4 based on the food but taking into account service it was adequate but mediocre at best.

Food is decent, but not the best of the Thai restaurants I've been to. I've only been there for lunch. I get my usual yellow chicken curry and/or chicken satee. I would go back for the convenience, but I found a better one in Fremont.

After looking at rooms for rent in Castro Valley, I went searching for dinner. I ended up on this long road passing Korean BBQ places, Thai food, Mexican food. I wanted something different. Suddenly I looked up and the sign said Welcome to Fremont. I swear there is a road from Fremont to Castro Valley/Hayward. So I call up my friend DJme and ask him what he is doing for dinner, because I just happen to be in the area. This place was his selection. Mind you I had passed up a ton of Thai places, but I wasn't going to say anything. Let me just say the food was damn good. Dj ordered chicken and green beans, it was in this yummy red sauce. I ordered curry, it wasn't as spicy as I expected (it had the little chili next to it on the menu), but some chilli hooked that right up. The staff was nice, busy. The one complaint I do have is that it is served typical Thai family style, so dishes are brought out separately, which is great if you are actually eating family style, but we weren't and I was going to take DJ's plate and hold it hostage, because I was really hungry. For our dishes, rice, a thai ice tea and a beer it ended up being under 25 (not including tip) and I had some left over for lunch. It was totally delish and I can't wait to go again.

Don't know how I forgot to review this place. Have been a regular here. Really awesome food and great service. You can customize spice levels as needed. Awesome tom kha soup , panang and mussaman curry. One place which has never disappointed us in 5 years. After they renovated it feels cleaner and nicer. They run groupon deals which you should use and try additional appetizers or try out stuff from there dessert menu.

First time here and the food was good not amazing and service was a bit slow. It took over a half hour to get our food after ordering. Our waiter was friendly but I would not say super attentive. We had the following - Yellow curry prawns - curry was delicious but I am not a curry expert. I loved it compared to other yellow curries I have had. Thai BBQ chicken - ok, chicken was a bit dry Pad Thai - ok, it didn't have the kick we are use to Spring rolls - great!! Tasted so light and fresh

Unimpressed about the restaurant or the food. It was not clean: there was dust on the table, the glass had something in it, my tea cup had lipstick on it... We ordered one item spicy (and had the waiter confirming that because it was going to be really spicy...), but it was not spicy at all it was really salty though. We ordered two other items a medium, one was, and the other was not spicy at all. The items did no have much flavor other than salt or the spiciness in the one dish.

Food was amazing! We had the pinnapple fried rice, pad thai and the volcanic lamb. The fried rice was very flavorful and it just hits the spot. The pad thai was on point as well. What's great about this place is that their portions are huge. You might as well share your dish or go family style. I had so much left overs! The service on the other hand was was like a roller coaster. We were sat immediately, but then it took forever for a waiter to come take our order even though we mentioned that we were ready to order. After we placed our orders, the food actually came out pretty quickly. Lastly, paying for the food was a drag. We wanted to split checks so we had to go up to the counter. The lady at the counter seemed like she was busy so we just waited for a little bit, just for her to leave and take a large table's order. That was pretty frustrating. The food I would give 4 stars; the service is 2.

Banh Thai has been in the Fremont Plaza Shopping Center for a very long time, they've managed to stay in business. Just recently, saw that they were on Groupon and so we purcased a Groupon. The deal was $35 for $60 worth of Thai fodo here at Banh Thai. We got a a good deal from Groupon, so we thought it would be goodv to have Thai here. The Groupon may have been a good price, but the food and service here was really lacking and it did not make up for the Groupon. Seeing as we had to order $60 worth of things, we ordered alot and just shared them amongst each other. We ordered 7 things. 1 Thai Tea; $3.00 (This was decemnt, had sweetness in it, and wasn't overly sweet.) 1 Steamed Rice; $1.50 (decent) 1 Combination Appetizer; $13.75 (Included a variety of things, some good, while some bad) 1 Penang Curry with Pork; $10.25 (Decent, didn't ask us how Spicy we wanted it, it was Spicy) 1 Garlic Pork Ribs; $10.25 (The flavor was there, but the meat was tough and unedible) 1 Banh Thai Fried Rice; $11.75 (This one wasn't bad, good flavor and tasty) 1 Mixed Vegetables with Beef; $10.25 (This oine was meh, but passable) Many of the food items we ordered were at max mediocre. Some of them even seemed as if they were like unedible. In the combination appetizer, the chicken skewers were horrible, the meat was like as if it was rubbery and not real chicken. While the Garlic Pork Ribs had the flavor, the meat was extremely tough, how can anyone eat that??? It's like jerked up jerky! If they consider that to be pork, they need to rethink their culinary skills... The customer service here was horrible. While it took forever for someone to come take our order, it took even longer to recieve our food. The restaurant wasn't too busy either, just a few tables before we ordered, then more people started coming. On top of all that, the guy gave us a dirty look when we had asked him for another togo container. We accidentally poured our curry into the wrong container and asked for another box and he seemed pretty uinhappy about getting is a new box and wasting the box we poured the curry in accidentally....it's one box!!! OH and they automatically added a 15% gratiturity tip towards the bill and we were only a party of 3!!!! That certainly did not sit well with any of my family members. Only 3 people and you need to add 15%??? i'm not sure at all if we would ever come back. there are many other Thai restaurants in the area that are better such as CoCurry in Newark. Dissapointed.

I've eaten here twice --both with groupons! It's a place that can accomadate few people to a large group and business is always great! The only downside with more people is the wait for the food, however, my company and I never had to wait any more than 10 minutes for our food to come even though place was a full house with customers constantly coming and going! The waiters and waitresses here are nice but there was one that was way too overwhelmed and forgot about things we requested. For the food, I would truly recommend their red curry, roti dish, combination platter, prawn pad thai, and basil fried rice! The thing that I really liked about the food here was, before I ate anything, the smell of the food just smelled fresh, delightful, well-seasoned....so beautifully aromatic! Their red curry was light, perfectly made, and super addicting. Same goes for their sweet/spicy curry sauce with the roti and the sauces and items on the combo plate (you gotta try the peanut sauce with rice)... Their pad thais were addicting and basil fried rice smelled like heaven.... All in all, for the price you pay, you get a good amount of great food! Take advantage of groupons for this place!

This place was great and we thought nothing would stop us from going there even after we found a small piece of plastic (probably a part of spatula or something). When we complained they just gave is another dish. But tonight was the last straw when we found a bug in there. Thanks for finally teaching us a lesson that your cooking ways will not change! Update Aug, 2015 So apparently they shut down for a while and I was hoping that was to address the bug issue so of course I tried the place again. Why? Cuz I was an idiot and they reminded me of it again. This time the following happened: 1. Rude on the phone when taking order said it'd be 25 mins. So went there in a half hour to give them time 2. Didn't start the order until we got there 3. Wait no after a 15 min wait we find out it was there all along! 4. Got home to see the plastic in which the curry for roti was poured in melted. I love eating food when it's hot but not at this price. Ok as a very considerate vegetarian I can take seeing bugs in my food and toss it but don't ask me to eat plastic. There's enough ways I'm already exposed to carcinogenic stuff. I'm so lazy about writing reviews but i just had to for this. I'm done with this place for good.

Just be aware they add 15% tips to your check even for a party of two when you using groupon. Makes me feel they can give me bad service and its ok since they will be getting a tip anyway.. BTW I paid tip on top of that of that 15% they added on already.... Food was mediocre.. Pad thai wasn't that tasty...

I thought this place was great!! The pineapple fries rice and red Thai curry were on point. Wanted to try the spring rolls, but we got the roti instead, which was out of the world! The flatbread was crispy and oily, perfect for the curry dipping sauce. I used a groupon which was a great deal in my opinion. Others reviewers mentioned bad service, but I didn't notice bad service, if anything they were too attentive to our table, lol. I will be coming back for sure!

Disclaimer: I've been here 4-5 times but only because groupon tricked me to purchase. Cons: They need to hire more people to be on the floor... There's only three people and there's like 22 tables = awful service. You will never get your water filled. You ask for fish sauce, you get vinegar. The Chinese dude that is at the front is impatient and kinda a jerk. The Chinese lady is really friendly but doesn't know her meats... I ordered squid, not chicken... The portions are really small and when it gets busy, it gets even smaller. Pros: food comes out fast. Lots of parking available. Menu is pretty extensive. Good flavors. I recommend the padped catfish.

Banh Thai is my go-to place for chicken curry and pad thai. The curry is rich and flavorful, unlike other Thai curry I've had, which tended to be watery and filled with bamboo shoots. I love the sticky rice with mango dessert, because it's not too sweet and tastes like Chinese styled bamboo leaf rice. There's usually a queue for to go orders and dining in, but the one for take out is shorter than the one for dining (usually, but not always). My recommendation is to order to go, without rice (cook your own), about twenty minutes early so you won't have to wait in line. Service is great, professional and friendly, I would rate six or seven stars (if I could).

Ordered the Pad Thai & Eggplant salad togo. Pad thai - super dry & tasteless. The noodles tasted like it has been cooked & been siting there for days (not minutes, but days!). My mother is a horrible cook & so it reminds me of her food. But at least she would've added in bigger shrimps. It came with a few pieces of danky overcooked shrimps - which became chewy when we ate it. Eggplant Salad - i thought it was going to be a cold salad but its a hot one! Odd, but not bad. +1 for the guy who walked outside to give us the food since we were waiting in the car.

BEWARE ALL: Probably an off day for the cashier and other employees..but it doesn't make sense that they charge me extra and put 15% tips for their very low, below par service standards.. I used the coupon from groupon and was served with no food for 40 mins, and even though the servers looked at us many many times but chose not to acknowledge us even once. The food was very mediocre and I do understand that the food quality is not always the same.. That being said, for a group of 2 ppl, I have not seen any other restaurant who charge 15% tips without asking the customer.. I had a total bill of 36$ and he charged me 5$ for tips. I would have anyways given few dollar of tips but not 15% tips for this standard of service..

We went there for a family dinner but ended up back home getting major upset stomach pains. We noticed something definitely not right when we ate the food there and our mouths instantly become dried and we had to constantly drinking lot water to replenish our dry mouths. The chicken was undercooked and service was awful. It could be the tons of msg they were using in their dishes and the undercooked meat made our stomach upset after getting home. Never again.

Edit: okay, I don't know what was in their ingredients but a few minutes later ,after leaving, I felt sick to my stomach and had to throw up. My girlfriend felt sick to her stomach as well. Never coming again. Beware of food poisoning! We ordered the papaya salad, Pad Kee, and the Green Curry from this place. It took them around 40 minutes to serve us our papaya salad and an additional 10 minutes for the curry with another 10 minutes for the pad kee. The quality of their dishes were not worth the wait and I got a stomache afterwards. Papaya salad: They have tons of shrimp paste in this dish which makes it very salty. At first it had no spice level so I asked the waitress to make it spicy. Few minutes they came back with it tasting the exact same..pretty much the worst tasting papaya salad I've ever had Pad Kee: Both the presentation and the taste were poor. Had huge slabs of ginger in it Green Curry: This dish was too sweet and tasted like only ginger Just an fyi, they charge $3.00 for rice.

Unfortunately, I think today was our last experience with Banh Thai. The food is good, but the customer service is outright ridiculous. A month ago my husband called to place an order for take out. A man answered the phone and legit said, "Call back in 5 minutes" and then hung up! Now my husband, being the sweet, gentle soul that he is.. actually gave them a chance and called back to order. LOL. Strike one. Strike two: Today. My husband called to place another take out order. They told him the order would take 15 minutes. They tend to be a little slow so my husband waited the 15 minutes at home and then went to pick up our order. Once he got there, he was told that they would NOW begin cooking the food. My husband said, "you told me over the phone that it would take 15 minutes, why haven't you started cooking the food?" The man then told my husband, "yes, that's right, the food will take 15 minutes when we begin to cook it once you arrive." The man at the front counter then proceeded to get angry and tell my husband that he did not understand the concept of take out. LOL. If we wanted the food to be cooked when we got there, we would not have called... we would have just ordered it... WHEN WE GOT THERE. This restaurant acts like there aren't another 4259439859375 Thai restaurants located just around the corner from them. On to the next one.

I would say that this place is alright. I'm not that big of a fan of Thai food, but my sister wanted to come here and there was a Groupon deal so we decided to give it a try. If you really like sweet things then I guess this place is for you! I'm more of a spicy person, and there were some spicy things on the menu but they weren't really that spicy. The spice factor was masked by all that coconut flavor. The service here is also alright, kind of depends on who you get. One of the ladies was nice and another was a little rude. But they were really nice towards the end, it might have been because we were the first customers there since they close after lunch and reopen at 5. There are 2 TVs on the side of the place and while I was there they just aired the news, which was fine by me. Overall the food was pretty good.

i was on a hunt for that elusive pad see ew with a taste i was yearning for. order --- pad see ew -sweet, not too salty or, liquidy the taste was pretty good. i kind of inhaled it as i prepared for work later that day. and the time it took to get out? faster than going to the bathroom and washing your hands.

We got seated really quick, even though it was really packed, but as soon as we sat down, we waited forever for someone to take our orders. Maybe they were waiting for us to wave them down? I read in previous reviews, that there were only two servers while dining, while a full house. Same for me & my boyfriend. Idk what is up with that, but I agree they need to have more servers to help serve people faster. Even though waiting to take our orders took a while, the food was A++. The server with the small pony tail was cool, even though he was super busy doing a million things at once, but was very good at what he did. One star to him. There was another guy there that was not too friendly, but whatever. I liked the design of this place & decor. Plus, I think one reason why this place was so packed, was because they are Groupon friendly. The people that sat all around us at the other tables, also had Groupon. I am happy for this restaurant for making money off of Groupon. Its a great deal for business.

Here's the thing. Their food is amazing! I got the Groupon takeout deal and absolutely loved the Panang Curry. Tons of meat and veggies not too much sauce. I am giving them 3 stars because they do not have a website anymore, nor online menu so ordering togo was rather challenging. I definitely will come back for the food though!

18% Tip is automatically added to your bill for the 5 or more people. DONT ADD MORE TIP when you sign the receipt! Yes the service is slow so they didn't deserve 18% tip especially when the fifth person was my 3 year old. The food was mediocre compare to Sala thai. I will never return to this place.

A vegetarian's review! :) This place was fairly empty on the weekday afternoon that we went here. We were quickly seated and were served (Tom Yum?) soup. Here's our order... Pad Ke Mao: Tasty and full of veggies (that my niece shoveled around the plate!) but quite oily. Not too bland, not too spicy, tasty and flavorful. Basil Fried rice: One of the better basil fried rice that I have eaten. Good portion size and pretty delicious! Green curry and rice: Quite tasty although this being my first experience of green curry I will withhold further judgement! I'll definitely be back for more!

The food is good, giving 2 stars for that. Service sucks, particularly when you say that you have groupon before the bill arrives. I was charged 4.8$ as gratuity and when asked why? they have an explanation that they do for groupon. Meanwhile have to pay 15 more dollars to almost the same meal that i have a week ago :). Because the meal prices were high because i was looking at a page that never said lunch. I understand when you go out on a 1pm to any restaurant, its lunch. May be i am wrong about Lunch and Dinner timings :) Anyways, had the waitress remove the gratuity and she started complaining i was rude and i should not be like that. Excuse me for saying that the 4.8$ that you were trying to get from me is not fair. Gratuity is something i wish to pay. It could be called stealing in some places. Advice to All: When you have the Groupon, Surprise them while paying.

Saw their deal on Groupon and thought it was worth checking out... The first time we came here with my entire family because we had a $60 Groupon to use. We were able to order a LOT of food and had plenty leftover to take home. Another time it was just my husband, son, and me using a $30 Groupon. Appetizer combo is pretty good... Plenty to share for 5 people. My son really likes the chicken satay and fried tofu! Pad thai is delicious! Both Banh Thai fried rice and Curry Crab fried rice had HUGE portions! Basil fried rice portion wasn't as big, but the flavors of this dish is... incredible. It's SUPER spicy, but really good. Crab fried rice had a bunch of crab in it. Overall, their portions are huge. If you're able to use a Groupon, it's a great value to come here. Service is alright. It's not really good, but it doesn't suck either. We always come here on quiet times, Sunday or weeknights, but I can imagine the servers getting flustered on a busy night because they don't seem too experienced. They briefly check in with you and refill your water quickly, but that's about it. I still have another Groupon to use, so I'll definitely be back!

Stop coming here because the place was filled with fruit Flies but I saw they had a groupon so I decided to give them another try- it had been a year anyways so I said, eh why not? We got spicy basil fried rice with shrimp PA KEE MAO chicken Some spicy chicken with green beans (sub beef for the chicken) Thai tea and a coke. Total: 38.00$$ The food was delicious and they got rid of their fruit fly problem. I asked for spicy and I got SPICY.. unlike other places. I took one star because it's only one lady working the floor and the guy from the kitchen came out to give us the food. The lady was taking orders, refilling drinks, sitting people, answering calls and ringing people up.

I made a mistake buying a groupon. Worst service. Very rude staff. Food was OK. I asked a question about missing tofu in all veggie entries that we ordered and the person argued for 10 mins that I didn't place a right order. I didn't ask or expect to replace the entries but was seeking an explanation on what went wrong. Haven't had this kind of bad experience anywhere else. There are many other good restaurants with decent service. I will never visit again to any of Bahn Thai.

So my family and I came here based on the groupon promo going on and all I have to say is stay away. If you enjoy eating real thai food then don't come here. I always go to Sala Thai (excellent please try)and decided to try a different thai restaurant. We dined in on a Friday and they were packed and I don't understand why. We waited for about 25 minutes for our food and let me tell you it was disgusting not sure how they stay in business. Anyway, they didn't check on us to see if we needed anything and when we asked for water refill they got angry and became rude. We barely ate the food so I asked for the bill and to go boxes so I could give to the homeless ..had to wait an additional 15 minutes. Make a long story short my family and I got sick from the food even though we didn't eat much. This place will never see a penny of mine!! You guys have been warned!!

Am not New to Thai food in America. I don't know how traditional Thai food tastes, but the food is like made suitable for American taste. Compared to other Thai restaurants I don't see much difference from other restaurants in the food I tried so far from their menu. The food is not spicy and I enjoyed the food. The ambience is very good. The service is good. It's a good family restaurant. The menu is so big and found difficult to make choice. I hope I will try all the varieties on the menu.

3.5 stars. This place has had a groupon deal ($30 for $15) for a while. My mom (who loves thai food) has bought a few of these deals and as such I have been here a few times. Overall the food is pretty decent and the portion sizes are reasonable. I've tried their pad kee mao as well as some of their dishes served with rice like the basil fish, and drunken chicken. The pad kee mao isn't bad but I've had better. Well cooked and decent portion size but overall lacking a bit of flavor. The basil fish was pretty good. It was a deep fried pompano served with bell peppers and onions in a sweet sauce. The sauce, onion, and peppers complimented the fish very well. The drunken chicken taste like something you would get at wingstop, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Deep fried chicken pieces served in a sweet thai chili sauce. Overall pleasantly tasty food at a normal price for a thai place (it's pretty cheap with a groupon). The service does stink though. They generally are completely unwilling to take your order or refill your water if you don't hunt them down. Generally speaking, thai places have pretty good service. This place unfortunately does not.

Average Thai food. Service isn't good at all. Servers never even smile at you. They do give huge portions. Food isn't bad but not great either. I do know of few other amazing Thai restaurants in the area so I may be a bit too tough with my rating as a result.

Food was ok, not so tasty, doesn't hurt your taste bud and pocket to visit once...most of the food was sweet, roti curry was good but red sauce was bit over sweet..panana curry was tasty... You can skip pineapple fried rice..I would recommend Thai beer, it was different...

Food is good, service is ok. There are only 2 waiters for like 20 tables. The problem is the guy at the front desk. He really gets on your nerves. He is impatient, rude, and takes your whole mood off. It seemed as though i was doing him a huge favor for getting a table. He is never satisfied with the tips and makes it a point to mention that rudely. If you take the groupon to him, he is visibly disappointed/angry and makes sure he pulls as much money from you as possible. If he did not like groupon then why the hell he had to put it up! I went there two times in the last four months, both times had a terrible experience with that front desk guy. I will never return to this restaurant.

Sadly, the service isn't as great as the food they serve. Food was delicious, no complaints on the spicy eggplant lunch special that I ordered. My boyfriend had the spicy beef with rice. The service was horrible. They took forever to take our order, for the food to arrive, and the salad and soup that is supposed to come before the entree never arrived. Oh, and we had to ask them for our rice that is also supposed to come with the plate. It took forever for us to get the rice, which is part of the main meal. We had to ask several times for the soup and salad. When we finally got the waiters attention for the 3rd time he just laughed at us and just waved us off. So I asked another waiter and he seemed annoyed that we still wanted it after we had started eating our main dish. Umm okay? Towards the end of the meal I found a gnat or some little bugs in my water. Glad I didn't see it prior or I wouldn't have enjoyed the food so much. The thai tea wasn't very impressionable compared to other places either.

I used to come here back when I was in high school (before they were temporarily closed & now reopened). The food always tasted delicious and authentic. Service was fine - courteous although perhaps not the most fluent in English. I'm looking forward to returning after all this time.

Banh Thai has been a Fremont establishment for as long as I can remember. I love how they have one page dedicated for veg-heads. They even have a larb, which I will get next time and then I'll give you guys feedback on that. Their tom kha soup is really good (lemongrass coconut) and comes out with different vegetables. I love how their order of spring rolls is so large because I'm such a monster when it comes to those. Yellow curry is also very standard, wish their sticky rice was a bit more fresh, but it gets the job done.

Came in to order to go and first thing the man at the counter says is "you need to wait" and we didn't say anything before he even said that. Then he came back and asked if we were ready to order and we ordered. Told us 20-25 min and we've been waiting about 30-40 min and still waiting as I type this. We just did a status check on our order and he said "we're busy" while at the same time giving people who ordered after us their order. Probably never come back here again. There are plenty of Thai restaurants with bomb food plus bomb service. This is not one of them.

We were honestly very pleased with our picks. I opted for the vegetarian basil* fried rice, and suggested we try the red curry veggie with tofu to accompany. Our rice dish had such a unique flavor, w/ subtle hint of basil, and deep and savory fullness as if the rice was cooked in some kind of broth then tossed with veggies such as: peas, zucchini, green beans. It had to our surprise a delightful kind of spiciness, which evaded at first then lingered along with the basil flavor. This dish is great if you're looking for a comforting, warm and filling dish. The red curry hit home with my fellow, since we are big fans of the sauce which accimpanies the roti. The tofu was cooked just right, and included a similar veggie medley as above. We had a total of 3 servers, continious on a busy Fri eve, and was greeted by the very gracious, my guess is the owner himself. Still my top thai ~

Chicken was undercooked and they would not provide a refund. Server said we should have told them sooner, but the waiter never came to check on our table until the check was dropped off. Bad experience, eat here at your own risk. Definitely on the lower end of quality.

We had Banh Thai fried rices , pad Thai , mango chicken , and sea foods( I dnt like the sea foods that much) but over all the Foods was excellent, service is friendly( but need more pl to work on Thursday I guess, it was busy busy for two workers with over 20- 30 guesses) But still I will definitely come back to eat again. Craving for Thai food try this place.

I recommend getting the garlic chili fish and the Pad Thai. I am giving this place 3 stars because of their service. The waiters are no where to be found and they add 15% tip automatically onto the bill which they did not deserve! I think they do that because people who come with their groupon they believe they might tip them less since the bill will be a small amount. Overall, I would come back here but order take out instead!

This is a truly nice place to escape to.... The ambiance is authentic Thai, complete with buddha statuettes and asian music! The food is fantastic too! I guess should be at par with Sala Thai. We ordered the chicken wings, crab fried rice and a chicken gravy dish... All were fine examples of their absolute mastery over Thai cuisine. Will definitely love to comeback again!

Great food and portions. Pretty bad service. They offer groupon but make it hard to redeem. Always ask for cash and discourage certain credit cards. But the food and portions are good. The spicy prawns, fried rice dishes and papaya salad are excellent. My personal favorite is the Basil fried rice. I prefere take out to avoid the service.

This place used to be good years ago but the service has gone very downhill. This time we waited 20 minutes at the door while the restaurant was half empty in the back. This is similar to what others are complaining. Shortage of service. Meanwhile one customer came complaining that she was served shrimp when she had ordered veg dish. Then after we sat for 15 minutes no one came to take the order. We tried to flag down attention and it was ignored. Meanwhile three other tables who had come in later were served. This sequencing seemed to be out of order not just us but others too. When we brought it to his attention and said we will not wait any longer and he has to take our order now, he said we can leave if we cannot wait. Unfortunately we had made a mistake and bought a groupon which we had to use. So we were stuck. Then food came. We had ordered roti. When the first plate was served it had 4 pieces. We had ordered 4. But looking at the size we asked her to double and make more. This time she bought 2 more orders. we told her we wanted only one more - 4 more pieces. Instead of trying to accommodate - the manager literally started arguing with us telling us we had ordered 4. We would have been ok taking both dishes but the attitude turned us off We pointed out it was bad service. He instead told us we are in business for 20 years. I said does not matter the yelp ratings are all complaining lately. As soon as I spoke up the next table said glad you spoke up since they were frustrated with similar experience today. Other than that the food was ok. Nothing spectacular but good. The other savior was that the next server who took our order was courteous and said sorry. There appears to be one person who called himself the manager who is downright arrogant in my mind. I am usually very careful about writing feedback on yelp but I finally managed to create an account just because I am hoping that others can learn this

This is the first time I'm writing a review as I am still very upset about the customer service my friend and I got from this restaurant. My friend and I purchased a groupon deal $20 for $13 and we were so excited to come and enjoy the food. We ordered food worth of $41, assumed with the $20 we each will only need to chip in a small amount. Groupon Fine Print does not even say anything about 15% tips on the groupon deal. The guy there charged us the 15% tips. We asked him how come there was a $6.52 added on the bill, and he said they charge tips on all Groupon Deal? There was no Fine Print? I don't mind to give tips when I actually get the service, yet the customer service here is bad as well. Only 2 people for a crowded lunch hour, you can only imagine. Also, 15% Tip on the tax? We will never come back here again. And my suggestion for everyone, please don't!

This is my family's favorite Thai food joint in the area. Their green curry is to die for! We often get takeout from here on days when we're too tired (read: lazy) to cook. Tastes just as good at home as it does in the restaurant! Our tried-and-true favorites are their chicken green curry and pad thai. Their massaman curry is solid, too. I came here again last week and tried their papaya salad and tom yum soup for the first time. I love papaya salad and have tried it at a few other Thai places. I was a bit disappointed this time because it felt like the papaya wasn't very crisp/fresh. However, the flavor was overall quite good. The tom yum soup was pretty good. Overall, though this last experience didn't wow me, Banh Thai is still among my family's favorites in our restaurant lineup.

I bought food to go some few weeks back. The quantity of the curry is huge. They give about 32oz while it's just 16oz everywhere else. The Penang curry and green curry were nice. Got them with brown rice which wasn't that great. I may just go back again to get some to-go on days I get off late from work but I have other Thai restaurants in the area that I would prefer to go to for a nice sit down dinner.

This is my go-to Thai restaurant! It is so delicious and the service is great too! I'm all about their pad see ew and the roti. GET THE ROTI! Their Thai iced too is fabulous. If you don't like spicy then make sure to tell them to keep the spice down on the curry.

I use to be a regular here until I experienced a really bad customer service (by the owner himself). It was a Saturday night and it was really busy. We waited for our food for 30 minutes, but we totally understood. I asked one of the waitress what the status of our food was. I had to call her 5 times before I got her attention and to get an answer from her, "We are busy." After a 35 minute wait, we decided to just pay for the appetizer and leave. The owner also said, "it a Saturday and we got really busy. Everyone's waiting and went on and on." OK.... we just wanted to HEAR a SIMPLE APOLOGY, NOT AN EXCUSE. He had the worst customer service and just lost a customer. Highly recommend Sala Thai or Green Champa Garden for thai food in the area. Great food and great customer service.

Can't say I would come back again. I had experienced much better Thai food and service elsewhere. We ordered the combination appetizer and the chicken satay tasted like rubber, the other appetizers included were not much better. The Banh Thai fried rice and Penang curry with pork were both okay. The garlic pork ribs had good flavor but the meat was like eating jerky. When we requested a new take out container, the waiter gave us an attitude. We were a party of three and they automatically added 15% tip to our bill....that did not sit well with me.

I went there last night (valentines day) with my boyfriend and it was a disappointment. We came upon this restaurant because Sala Thai was busy and packed and we didn't want to wait an hour or so to eat. When we stepped into the restaurant, it was obvious that they did not have enough waiters because it took us a while to be seated...when we were the only ones waiting. Ok fine I understand it's valentines day and it's busy. The food was just Ok compared to all the other Thai restaurants I've been to. We ordered vegetables green curry, basil fried rice and the BBQ chicken. My tolerance for spicy food is not high at all, but I love Thai curry and I can tolerate a little bit. I know there's a difference in spicy levels between the Green, yellow and red curry but I wasn't sure which one was mild. I asked our waiter and he says, "they're all the same.." Oh Kay.... We had to take half of it home, not because it was huge potions, but because the curry and fried rice was so spicy that all I did was take a bite of food and a long gulp of water. 80% of my stomach was water. Service sucked, as you can imagine since it's valentines day. I worked in a restaurant before so I understand. What annoyed us the most was the owner (manager lady) kept walking by us and my boyfriend asked her to bring the bill and also some boxes and she goes "ask your waiter"..TWICE! Uhm I would if he was around! I only saw him once during our whole dinner and since you're the owner, shouldn't you at least help out? Your place is not a fancy 5 star restaurant so please don't pretend to be high class.

YELPERS BEWARE!!! When it says spicy on the menu, they mean SPICY. I consider myself to be pretty good handling spices, hello I love them? My father too is quite the veteran but when we ordered the papaya salad and the seafood eggplant, I literally took about 3 bites before my taste buds died and my ears really started to hurt. Dinner was ruined and we had to refer to eating my brother's food

Came here recently with some friends and were really surprised by the quality of taste of the food. We had been here many years ago but didn't really like it that much, didn't expect too much this time but our friends convinced us to come. Their curries are so good and I liked their pad thai a lot as well. The roti and spring rolls are delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more stuff. They also have a great lunch plate but since it is week day only, it may be hard for some to try.

very nice accommodating staff. had thread noodle soup which was very tasty with lots of fresh seafood and not spicy. the sampler appetizer was huge for 2 people and consisted of a lot of fried food (tofu, angel wings, egg rolls) and chicken satay. it was good but very filling and like i said before lots of fried food. yellow curry with chicken had coconut milk in it and a little veggies (could have used more veggies). would definitely go back for more yummies.

Oh no....no, no, no.....this IS NOT right to call this place Thai food! Keeping it simple on this review mushy pad thai noodles; no flavor. Smelly, almost rotten smelling prawns in the noodles. BAAAD service; practically non existent watery Thai iced teas rubbery chicken and beef WAY too overpriced for this crap food. 'Nuff said.

I used to work in this area and during lunch, I would order for take out. Usually, when I tell them to make my pad thai spicy, they never do.. but here.. ohhh, it was reallly spicy!! Love it! I also had my graduation dinner here since we were in a rush because I had to go to grad night. A+ for the presentation! I love their pineapple fried rice. I love the way that they incorporated the pineapple fruit itself to make it into a food platter and placed the fried rice on top of it. I was definitely WOW-ED! I hardly go hear since it's in the other side of Fremont..

Have been here countless times and I must admit that I enjoy the environment and the decor at this thai establishment. The food is pretty average however , and this place gets packed during lunch. A favorite thai venue for many in the area and thrives due to it's prime location.

I love this little restaurant. Was just here last night with my boyfriend. Make sure to come in at least an hour ahead to avoid snarky looks and questionably fresh? food though. Their menu selection is really fantastic. They have something for everybody-the meat lovers, seafood fanatics, and veggie addicts. We ended up sharing three dishes with all good proportions. I got the pad thai, he got the veggie tofu mix, and lastly their fried rice. Their food has a lot of aroma and spices, so don't come in here expecting something delicate and simple. You're in the wrong place! Service was a little off as there were a lot of people dining with us. If you have room (or make room!) make sure to try their mango sticky rice (a dessert)..but sometimes we get it with our entrees! You can even request the mango off so it's just the sticky rice for 3 bucks or so. The pricing of their dishes is moderate, not cheap but not too pricey. Come in during lunch hours and score dishes at a great price!

Since their grand re-opening they've definitely stepped it up a notch. I've been a fan of the place but now everything tastes that much better. The curry's more flavorful and things taste fresher. The quality of meat seems better too. Love it. Hand claps for the new cook. Banh Thai has earned its 5 stars.

Banh Thai was so busy at 9:30pm. People kept on coming into the restaurant!! I can't believe how late people eat. Anyway, Banh Thai was pretty good. I ordered the noodles with chicken and veggies, and extra spiciness. The spiciness was just right. However, I didn't realize the noodles would be flat and thick similarly to chow fun. The sauce was also not too salty. The prices are moderate for the amount of food. One of my friends ordered the pineapple fried rice, and the rice came in half of a pineapple. That was pretty neat to see. Service was very slow. It took a long time to get our food and it was hard to track down a waiter to refill the water. In addition, I didn't like how the tv was turned on. Our table was below the tv and my friends just kept on watch "The Singing Bee." It was quite tacky of the restaurant owner to have the tv on during dinner.

Yum. Good, good food served quickly and in great portions. Value! This is a casual place which presents a large and varied menu of food choices served with above average presentation. Excellent choice for walk-in or reserved seating any day!

Everything you need to know: friendly, fast service, tasty curries, HUGE portions. Nothing transcendent here, but it's a great value in an oddly old-school/modern (think 80s modern...) setting. We sampled the spring rolls (8 pieces per order - tasty and fulling), yellow and red seafood curries with white and brown rice - all VERY filling and tasty. If in the area and having a Thai craving, we'll come back.

I have had a number of items from their menu. All were very good. Their chilli paste or peppers they use does not give me heartburn. My best from the menu is the eggplant chicken. Take outs were ready on time and the wait for food while dining in was not long either. Great food.

Look at the message that I was just sent half an hour ago. From user Hang D. "look Ann L, i know your ulgy ass parents own that nasty as rat hoe behind banh thai and your trying to give them hella bad review by making up silly story and your and your skinny ulgy bf . and yeah but leave them alone because this is not a game. we're fucken in a depression and your messing up hella works family and income. so if i see another comment from you imma report your ass. cause your cheating. and your parents place is hella nasty! a lot of people said that when banh thai was closed and they went to eat at your moms place! they said " thank god, you guys are open again" and the waitress. shes hella nice. so bitch this is a warning back off!. the owner maybe not be my mom but shes like family. oh and i'm hang my boyfriend mom own banh thai. so what out bitch!" Not only is this person not educated, they clearly don't understand why Yelp is around. People here are entitled to their opinions and I will simply say that my experience at this one particular restaurant left me with the impression that I wasn't going to be returning. Not only did this person insult and threaten me by saying they're going to report me, they simply just had no idea what they were talking about.. For what? Simply stating my opinion? I will say that since I have written the review, I have been contacted by the owners saying that they would like me to come back and give them another try. The message from the owner: "I'm sorry for your experience. If the food you ordered tasted like fish it's because we use fish sauce in the recipe . And in regards to the waitress we have address the issue and she is no longer with us. We would like to apologize and offer you a free dinner for 2. When you decide to come back please give us your feedback on the food and we will accommodate your request. " I will say that the "rat hoe behind banh thai" restaurant is not owned by my parents and I'm just simply a pleased patron of that establishment. If Banh Thai has revamped their establishment, good for them, but receiving this message has clearly bolstered my reasoning as to why I won't be returning.

Nice little place with friendly staff. My fiancee and I went there for dinner on a Tuesday and the crowd was thin (like most places are mid week). We ordered and were eating delicious meals in no time at all. The Pad Thai was pretty good and the drunken noodles were quite tasty. All for under $20 I will surely be going back.

This is a good enough Thai place I'd say. It is moderately pricy and food is good enough. Not so great as far as customer service goes, they always seem to be in a rush even if they are not crowded. Overall if you dont mind a little rudeness and good enough food - this a good neighborhood thai restaurant.

My bestie and I use to come here all the time to eat the curry dishes, but recently the quality of the food has gone down. However, it is still the only Thai place around town where I will get pad thai. I would still come here for that at least and the fried tofu appetizer! The curry though-meh, I hope to find better elsewhere now. I would say this place is still worth a try and the service is good.

I went on a weekend getaway trip to the Fremont area with my boyfriend. Because of the excruciating heat, we were trying to look for the closest Thai restaurant with a menu online and online ordering. We stumbled upon here! The online system worked perfectly, because our food was waiting for us as we arrived! The people who worked there seemed very nice, and promptly charged us for our order and we went off to venture back to our hotel to eat our food. After a quick stop to Walgreens (they forgot to give us utensils), we finally got to dig in after dying from smelling the sweet and savory aromas of our food as we drove back to our hotel. Beef Satay: SO DELICIOUS!! The meat was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of curry spices, and the peanut sauce it came with was to die for! The cucumber salad (to provide as a side, like a pallet cleanser?) was also nice and light. Beef Pad See Ew: I like it when they make it with American broccoli instead of Chinese. The soy sauce flavoring was just right, and was pretty good. Pad Thai: I wish they had Chicken in this instead of Tofu! I don't know if you could've asked for it or not, but whatever. It was still cooked well, but would've liked it with Chicken + Shrimp instead of Shrimp + Tofu. Just a little hangup, I guess. Overall, very quick service via online and a good value for the portions they give you!

My favorite Thai place of ALL TIME! I have been coming here for 4 years, and I have been to almost all the other Thai places in Fremont/Newark but they don't compare. This place may not have the best ambiance, but the food is delicious and the portions are huge. Their Pad Thai, Yellow Curry and Bangkok Chicken is really good. I especially love that they are so willing to substitute whatever you want if you are vegetarian. I always get my curries with Mushrooms and other stuff that isn't on the menu. Also, prices are very reasonable. For $8.00, the Pad Thai is HUGE and comes with a good portion of shrimp. They have pictures on their menu which is funny but very very helpful =)

Banh Thai is one of the better Thai restaurants in Fremont. Prices are reasonable and the dishes are flavorful, so I can't complain. They do satay chicken quite well; the chicken is moist/tender and the seasoning is good. Panang curry and green curry is good as well. The pad thai is tasty too. If you want good thai food and live in the East Bay, I suggest giving this place a shot.

i kinda felt it to be very unauthentic since there were no chopsticks! im not even sure if people in thailand use chopsticks but up until now all of the thai restaurants ive been to have chopsticks. decor is very outdated and reminds me of a sticky, old, restaurant stuck in the 80's with the pale walls and metal/pleather chairs. but food was decent! tom ka was on point. pad kee mao was really yummy. banh thai fried rice was pretty cool since it was served in a pineapple shell. i wonder if they reuse pineapple shells? lol overall good value with good portions and good thai food. and i saw you can order online...thats always a plus.

There is definitely a lack of good Thai restaurants in Fremont, at least in my opinion. While I've been to a few really great Thai restaurants in San Jose, sometimes I do not want to make the arduous trip out to there. So whenever I have a Thai craving and I need to go somewhere local, Banh Thai does the trick for me. I think it's probably one of the better Thai restaurants in the area, therefore it receives an "A-OK"

I never know what to expect with Banh Thai. Sometimes it's delicious and sometimes it's so disappointing. The last time I went the pad thai was chunky and stuck together...which was just an awkward eating experience. Thankfully I wasn't on a date, that would have tuned out so unattractively. The Banh Thai fried rice, essentially pineapple fried rice was not as flavorful as I would have liked and was NOT served in a pineapple. I know that's generally not a big deal, but it's one of my awkward pet peeves. (It's definitely been served in a pineapple on my previous visits!) The green curry is nothing to rave about, but it was good nonetheless. The roti was good, but it could have been a little fluffier and less oily. A few of the vegetable dishes are also just alright. The sticky rice and mango was definitely the highlight of the meal. It was well made, and it satisfied my taste buds. Banh Thai is quite cozy and intimate which makes it a nice place to come out for a relaxing family dinner or just to catch up with friends. I have to say though, that Banh Thai is a risky choice when you're craving some explosively flavorful Thai food, since it can really be a hit or miss!

I've been to this place a handful of times. I always ordered the Pad see ewe. Very greasy, but tastes ok.

I've come here a few times. This is my designated Pad Thai place! It's not the best I've had, sorry. But it's one of the better places in my neighborhood, so it'll have to do. They're really nice though :)

BANH THAI IS REOPEN!!! Yay! They closed for 4 months after a kitchen fire. I didn't know they would reopen and have been from Fremont to Bangkok looking for decent Thai food. Well they are rebuilt and reopen and re-awesome. The owner recognized me immediately and business was hopping. Some guy at a table behind me was complaining about this and that, and all I could think was "man this is the best Thai food I've had in six months!" Maybe I'm in withdrawal for not having such good food for so long, but dang, you just can't be upset with a bowl of their Tom Ka Gai dripping intravenously into my arm like a crack addict. My wife remembered their delicious Thai Iced tea. Welcome back guys! Next time I'll get the Fried Banana Ice Cream, I promise.

My husband and I try to eat here at least twice a month!! Their food here is great!! The only thing when we dine in, sometimes its very busy and not enough help. I would advise to call ahead of time and order for pick up, otherwise this place is great!!!!

Worst place ever ... Run by retards.. We reached the place at 9:30 and the place closes at 10:00.. We wanted to take few appetizers for Togo .. We waited for 5mins then I had to ask for someone to help us.. The person, a bald guy who was talking to us should never run a restaurant.. We asked him a simple question... Can you suggest some vegetarian appetizer.. He said you can read the menu.. I said we know how to read the menu, we want your suggestion... He said in a rude tone... I don't have time. Read and order if you want to... I was so pissed, no one has pissed us so much ever. I hope they shut down very soon.. Very very disappointing ...

Okay, we're talking about Fremont, the land of chain food. All decent, real-food places always seem to close up shop and get out of Dodge. Apparently, there is no market in Fremont for good food that doesn't break the bank. Banh Thai saves me and my SO from living on Wendy's, Red Robin, Sweet Tomato, and Elephant Bar. Really, if it wasn't for Banh Thai, we'd have serious health issues like cholesterol, blood pressure, and weight problems... wait a minute... Banh Thai is solid, consistent, if sometimes a bit behind on service. We're regulars, so they actually smile at us. The staff is extremely nice and well-meaning, even if they are a bit awkward and sometimes a bit behind on busy nights. The food can be great, but do realize they aren't great at everything. We've figured out our favorites and stick to them. They recently began offering brown rice, but you have to ask as they sometimes forget to offer it. They have a respectable vegetarian menu, love the string bean dish (pork, tofu, or chicken), stay away from the yellow curry (not their forte), all noodle dishes we've tried were very solid, and the param dern dong is darned perfect every time.

I'm a big fan of Thai food. In fact I consider it my favorite type of Asian food. With that said, of course I'm going to try a new Thai restaurant! One night, my family was in town so we decided to try a new Thai place. I had just finished buying some stuff at Target so we agreed to dine at Banh Thai. We were greeted and seated almost immediately after entering. I made a mental note to myself...'pretty good service so far.' Well that was the end of the service. After the waiter took our order he never came back to check on us. I will go into more detail about the service later. The food came out in about 15 minutes. Half of the tables inside were occupied so I was satisfied with the wait time for our food. I am not, however, pleased with the taste. It is definitely not a place I'd consider serving good Thai food. We ordered the chicken basil dish, chicken satay and a couple of other dishes that I don't remember. I do however, remember the food being very bland. I wouldn't call it terrible, but when you eat Thai, you'd expect it to have...flavor?! Hell, the only thing that had flavor was my drink. There are way more restaurants that serve better tasting (and delicious) Thai food. To finish the rest of the waiter service review. Here's what happened after we received our food. 20 more minutes pass and our cups were nearly empty, no one was courteous enough to ask how we were doing, or offer a refill. Finally I caught the attention of one of the bus boys, he couldn't speak English so he informed the waiter to come on over. Yes we finally got the most fulfilling and flavorful item refilled. As bad as it sounds, it is not the worst cuisine I have been to. If I think about the waiter service + the food, my brain tells me 'no I don't want to come back here again.' I would only come back if someone dragged me along, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy it.

I went here with my family one time just to have a random dinner well when we first got in it was so relaxed atmoshpere. you know down to earth and cozy feeling. when we ordered i think the waitress did a pretty good job seeing as she spoke broken english. the wait wasnt horrible seeing it was 3/4 packed at the time. the food was good and portions fit for a family meal. the decor was very nice also and ide give this place a go more times in the future.

This place is like Cheers to me. They have great food, quick service, good prices, and they know you. My friends and I used to have lunch here every friday. After 2 months or so we'd show up, get our usual table and find our meals already on the table and made just the way we specified on previous visits. Our usual waitress told us to just let them know if we werent coming in or if we were feeling like something different the next week. Otherwise, it'd be ready. Honestly? Who does that anymore?

I'm very picky when it comes to thai dishes but I have to admit that this place is not that bad. Pad Thai, Pad Sa Ew, Tom Yum Soup, etc - Yummy! My only complaint is the slow customer service and because I am big on dinning at restaurant for both quality and quantity, I have to say they make "just enough" for one person.... nothing extra. LOL. If that makes any sense.... But other than that, a 3 1/2 star... Not THEEEE best Thai food and definitely not mediocre!

The food here will blow you out your MIND! I've eaten here NUMEROUS times, and I still dine here to this day. I prefer this Thai restaurant over many classy over-priced Thai restaurants in the east bay area. Their yellow curry chicken and papaya salad are two of the best entree's I feel they serve. Over all, the food is absolutely tasteful. The service is ACCEPTABLE. They try to be curteous, but the only problem you are faced with is if you dine in during dinner time. Dinner time is usually when they start getting crowded, and they are quick to rush you out. Their actions kind of throw off a vibe, "Hi, how are you doing? What would you like to order? Okay food is here, eat up! Here is your bill! Okay thank you now please leave!" My family & I dined here for Mother's Day and we were displeased with how they were trying to rush us out, too quick to take an empty plate off of our table. Like RIGHT when I picked up the last piece of shrimp off a plate, all of the sudden, one of the waiters came out of NOWHERE and said "All done?" and grabbed the plate. We were very displeased with the service, but the quality of the food made it all better. Regardless of the service, I still come back, but only to order to-go.

I discovered this place when I was single. My boyfriend then later on husband takes me there to eat lunch and dinner. Then I craved for their crab fried rice, panang, and satay chicken when I was pregnant with my son. Now, my son, husband the whole clan eats all our favorite thai food in this restaurant. I love how our servers who have known us for years treat us like family. After more than 10 years of service Bahn Thai restaurant is still the best!

I wish there was a zero rating option because the 1 is too high for this God forsaken place. 1. Pressure to order within minutes of sitting down. 2. Once we ordered the appetizer, PRESSURE to order entrees. 3. Once we began to order and asked questions we got answers like "I'm not sure" & "I don't know" in response to which vegetables they use in a dish!!! 4. Rude waiter above also appeared to be the owner. 5. Most of the dishes tasted the same except for the Choo-Chee curry which was decent. The others was terrible. 6. Entrees were served before appetizer was finished. 7. You would think they would have left us alone once we granted their wish of ordering food but the minute we started eating they were ready to remove our plates! This place needs to disappear! DO NOT EAT HERE...go next door to Noah's Bagels instead.

The food is okay. The bad part, however, is the service or the lack thereof. They treat you like they are doing you a favor by taking your order. I strongly recommend Sala Thai over this one.

I have been here many times and each time, the food is delicious but the service is lacking. They always seem to be short staffed which causes some delays...however, if you don't mind the slight wait, the food is worth it! I love their mango chicken dish!

This is one of the top 5 Thai restaurants I've been to. I order pretty much the same thing every time I go out for Thai - drunken noodles and green curry. The curry was a little milder than we wanted but nothing a little hot sauce couldn't fix. The noodles were great, we got them w/veggies and fried tofu. The portions here are huge! I had enough for 2 meals afterwards. They were a little slow to take our order but pretty good after that. I look forward to going back!

Got takeout again and this time they made up for the missing item and since they were out of sticky rice (it was a very busy Tuesday night) they gave me free normal rice as well. Food always great and they were very nice and apologetic for previous missed item. So upgrade to 4 stars. Now if only they could get the plastic container for juicy items -- I mean how much more expensive can it be vs. the leaky paper container in a plastic bag???

I was here last Friday with a friend from this area. She was a huge fan of this place. So I had high expectations. I started with Thai Iced Tea (like I always do when I eat @ a thai place). It was OK. Not as flavorful as other places I tried. I then ordered Basil Chicken Fried Rice (extra spicy). I got my food pretty fast. And it was terrific. Fresh basil flavor mixed with super spicy rice and tender chicken... perfect meal. Definitely one of the best Basil Fried Rice I've had. I also tried their fried banana split ice cream. I always thought deep frying banana is ridiculous. After I tried this one I realized that you can't go wrong with a deep fried item topped with creamy ice cream. It was a great way to end a nice meal.

Super Ice COLD water filled all around! I like it! We ordered Red Curry and Pad See Ew on a Saturday afternoon. Pad See Ew was Yum YUM delicious, red curry was good, but could you some coconut milk. Both plates came to a total of $23 with rice on the side. Could be a tad bit cheaper, but all around median price range. =) Waiters here are super friendly. The guy noticed I liked my food super spicy, so he brought out the spiciest sauce he can find. I like!!

I come here about once a month. Never had any problem with the service. The employees are very friendly. The food is very good. My favorite is the garlic pepper beef. The curry is on point. Top it all off with a Thai ice tea, you can't go wrong.

I love this place, and I was very surprised to see such low ratings on Yelp. Then after scrolling through the reviews, I realized why - no one's had the pad kee mao! I live in Pleasanton and work in Tracy, so I have very limited access to Thai options. I'd been settling with mediocre pad kee mao until my husband and I discovered Banh Thai. I always start with the pad kee mao and he always gets red curry, extra heat. We think of these dishes as the "har gow" of the dim sum world - if we like these two, we know the rest of the menu will be delicious. Well, Banh Thai's pad kee mao and red curry are so good, we haven't been able to bring ourselves to order anything else yet! Fantastic portion sizes, too. I've had a hard time going back to the mediocre Thai restaurants in my area after knowing what goodness is out there. The restaurant is clean and I like the presentation inside. I've never had a problem with the service, both dine-in and take out. When we were there in December, they gave us calendars for the new year. It was very random, but we were amused and took them. Now please go try the pad kee mao and re-review them!

Lunch yesterday at Bahn Thai with my dad. Service was fast and the food came out quickly, since we told them we were in a hurry. We ordered Ginger Chicken, BBQ beef and Ped Pad from off of the lunch special section. The portions were generous for a lunch service, and we just as easily could have taken some to go. But the food was great and we were starving. The Ped Pad is a medium heat red curry which we ordered with chicken. It came with bell peppers, red and green and chinese eggplant. The lemongrass and ginger really came through in the dishes and every thing tasted very fresh. They also started us with a small cup of soup and a small salad all for a little under thirty dollars. I highly recommend!

I ate here for dinner. The service was SLOW. I was standing at the door to be seated for like 10 mins. while the customers were staring at me, I felt ashamed standing there waiting to be seated. Anyways, at the top of that, they were fast after I was seated. I had Pad Thai, pretty good enough to satisfy your tummy. They always refill water! I always consume water very quickly! The waiters were nice and the food was good too. So, 4 stars.

I went for Dinner at this place after a long time. This place is infested with cockroaches. I had a small one in my plate and the restroom is full of the tiny and medium size ones. Food was OK but after seeing the filth didn't feel like eating. The restrooms of a restaurant say a lot about the restaurant itself.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have never had any problem with the service or the quality of the food. Order the yellow curry chicken, mango chicken, or Praram Long Song (chicken and spinach drenched in peanut sauce). You won't be disappointed.

We used a restaurant.com coupon at this restaurant on a week night. There was no fuss about accepting the coupon. The food and service was excellent. The child-friendly environment helped and the portions were bigger than most restaurants in the Bay Area. Our orders included - Tom Yum Gai, Chicken Fried Rice, Thai BBQ Chicken, Som-Tam, Panang Gai, and dessert (Mango with sticky rice). Each one of them was cooked to perfection. Our 7 year old said "its just like food in Bangkok - can we come here gain?" We definitely will.

I always buy the $25 certificates for $2 at Restaurant.com -- (when there's a promo code $2 for $25) The minimum purchase is $35 + 20% gratuity to avail the gift certificate. We always order the Pad Thai, red curry, chicken satay, rice, 2 thai ice tea, 1 coke and the fried banana with vanilla ice cream - Good for 3 + left overs. Our total would only be $28 including the tip. I only paid $2 for the $25 gift certificate. The total amount is like paying only $30 for the pad thai, red curry, chicken satay, rice, fried banana with vanilla ice cream and 2 thai ice tea and 1 coke. $30 for 3people is really cheap for THAI FOOD!!! it's like saving $15-$20. Servings are generous and high quality food!

I have been to this place three times and got consistently bad service. The staff has REALLY bad attitude. For example, if you express your preference for a quiet corner of the restaurant they rudely tell you "NO". (It's not because they don't have customers sitting there or staff serving those tables.) Any questions about menu items meet with fairly unhelpful responses. When there is waiting, there is no sign-up sheet. So, need to watch out who is entering the restaurant after you. A not so enviable task. Food quality is so-so. I don't think it's authentic Thai. I think the serving sizes are larger than average for thai restaurants. So, their value proposition may be most-thai-food-for-the-buck.

My friend and I went to Sala Thai and it was crazily crowded. The wait time was 30 minutes for 2 people, so we decided to go Banh Thai since it's close by. We ordered Garlic Spicy Fish and Tom Yum Soup. They were ok. Nothing special. The service was slow. Waiters looked very serious and never smile. I ordered Mango Stick Rice to go and it was pretty good. The portion was big too. Overall it's ok. We may come back since there's no line here.

My girlfriend and I are addicted to this spot. We go here almost once per week. We've tried about half the dishes on the menu over the past few years and have always been satisfied. The roti and satay appetizers are super good! Don't pass on the crab fried rice either! MMM MMM!!! Service has always been good for us; not too slow, not too jumpy and fast like the restaurants that just want you in and out so the next person can sit down. We tend to swing by before the dinner rush and it hasn't been too busy. Prices are within our college student budgets and the decor get a slight upgrade every other month or so. Mango sticky rice all year long!!!

I am very selective over Thai food- The food was good and so is the service, however the decor and the seating could be different. Restaurants like this is great for small groups ( 2-6 people) but anything bigger is a bit hearty. We were there when a family was having dinner, it was noisy and a bit overwhelming. Over all the service was good, though I felt as if we were being rushed to eat, and pay.

I discovered Banh Thai about a month ago and have been here 3 times since and I have also used them for catering. Great Thai food at a fair price and their portions are very generous. Their Praram Dern Dong Beef is amazing and always a crowd favorite. I've also enjoyed their Panang Curry, Pad Se Ew and Pad Kee Mao Prawns. I have not had anything here that I don't like. Their food tends to be on the spicy side, so if you don't like things too spicy, just ask and they can tone it down. This is my go to Thai restaurant in Fremont and I prefer it much more than Sala Thai.

I recently stopped eating meat, and I don't like tofu, so I haven't visited this place in quite a while. However when I did eat meat, I used to go there quite often. Their chicken in peanut sauce was to die for - the best I've ever had. The restaurant is very nice and clean, as are the waiters. The presentations of some dishes are amazing; I got the pad thai and it was presented in a hollowed out pineapple! Very cool. I've always been a fan of thai iced coffee and theirs is great too. It is a little expensive, but the restaurant is definitely a nice one.

We just discovered this place not long ago. Our favorite Thai place having closed some time back. Charlie (God bless him) moved back to Thailand. Anyhoo, this place is a decent stand-in. The mussels from the appetizer menu were very good. Broiled and served with a nice chili sauce. The soft shell crab was tasty too. Some of their deep fried wares are not for me, but if you like that sort of thing, I'm betting you would enjoy them. The menu is very colorful with lots a pictures. You almost get overwhelmed. The service has been very good all the times that we've gone there. I will definitely be back to sample more of their dishes. If you're in the area and looking for Thai, I would give it a whirl.

Like another poster had mentioned, I wish there was a damn ZERO stars on here!! Take it from a Thai person, this place is a damn joke! To me, you know if the food is good if the place has a lot of its own race/nationality of people also eating inside of it in addition to everyone else. This place puts my culture of food to shame. It's like the Taco Bell of Mexican food. But in a nicer building with fancy plates and what not. The service is crap. They pressure you so much to order fast and they aren't even attentive. Blah, mind as well go to McDonalds down the freakin street!

My family and I went there last Saturday. The service is terrible, rude and unfriendly. The owner lay down at the couch and put his legs to the table. When I saw that I lost my appetite. The server is not helpful with the menu at all. Just tell you that I never see the restaurant like that before. Please don't come for the bad service.

If you like the sound of crying children, you are sure to enjoy Banh Thai. Young mommies and daddies must love to bring their little kiddies to this joint because its hard to sit through a meal here without a couple of blood curdling screams knocking some basil catfish off your fork and into your lap. Really though, crying children aside, having eaten here regularly for the last 7 years, I think Banh Thai is a quick, solid Thai choice if you live in Fremont. If you live elsewhere, then find a Thai place closer to where you live because the Banhster is probably not worth more than a seven and a half minute drive. Service here ebbs and flows. Once, our waiter took our entire order while on the phone. Was he taking phone in orders? No, he was having a personal conversation while attempting to take our order. Generally though, the service is passable, water is on time, and dishes are served promptly. Just remember that this place is better for an early dinner, because crowds seem to scare the servers, and you never know what happens then. Duck Jay, and spicier fish dishes are among my favorites.

Okay so the food is great, delicious, awesome, really really good....the red chicken curry comes HIGHLY recommended...BUT I probably would order take out the next time I want food from here. Again, not the kind of place that you would see yourself walking around barefoot in...catch my drift?

This place is pretty good. We've eaten here a few times and have opted for pick up most recently (no delivery). Our usuals are the deep fried potstickers, mango chicken, and bbq beef. This time we tried mee krob (never had, interesting, in a good way), pork fried rice, panang curry, and he had bbq beef. Some things never change. Overall good meal but I had assumed the curry would have come with steamed rice, it did not. So, I tossed it over a pile of fried rice. Not such a good idea, too many flavors mixed together. I had much leftover of the curry so next day made some rice and enjoyed again. Pretty decent amount of food overall.

This is me and my boyfriends FAVE Thai food place. The service is great and attentive, and the food is SO GOOD! Our fave dishes are the wings of love, potstickers, chicken atay, and shrimp fried rice. You know something else thats crazy, they have the best FREE water Ive ever tasted, and Im picky with my water (Evian kinda girl)! You have to try this place, I hope they are able to do some renovating though, the place is kinda old. ;)

(4)Jessica T.
(2)Anjana R.
I would have given no star if possible .. For the waste service ... The place stinks ... Feels like a total different world full of alien waiters .. The lady waitress is very rude ..... I did not like the food too
(1)Amar D.
(3)Philip H.

(3)Amit R.
Below average tasting food for above average prices ... with a mix of poor service. A solid recipe for not going there even with a Groupon. Also, if you are watching your calories, watch out for all the extra oily food ... might be trying to make up for the lack of thai taste.
(1)Bee L.
(2)Lejander L.

Clean, beautiful atmosphere. Great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tofu yellow curry fr the lunch menu was perfect!

The food was too good with reasonable price.. The ambiance is good.. Attentive service. All the staffs are very nice. Feels good Hygiene.. Recommended. Roti prata, basil fried rice,

I bought groupon to try out this restaurant. Service was ok & food a bit salty. My kids like the chicken curry dish & coconut soup. Overall food are ok. May come back if good deal for dinner

Awesome food. First place in the Bay Area to satisfy my hunger for spicy food. Good and fast service. Am going back for sure.
(5)Carrie T.
Seems they don't have enough waiters, so service was very slow. However, food was good, recommend yellow curry and red curry, don't order Roti, not authentic.
(3)Gabriel O.

(4)Rico M.
(4)Food Y.
(3)Sam F.

(3)Joel S.
(4)KK M.
mango sticky rice... THEIRS TASTE THE BEST!!! it seems to always be ripe and they cook the rice just right.. they also sprinkle it with these fried bits.. i have no clue what it is.. but its yummy their pad thai and pad see-ew is good too... i mainly come here for the sticky rice tho.. their soup is great and i like ther soup with noodle sometimes.. i'm bigger on the mango tho.. with banh thai i HAVE TO have their mango sticky rice.. i even order 2 servings to go sometimes
(4)S G.
Only ate here once, but had a good meal. Their yellow curry is delicious! When we were there, they were very attentive with the water -- we never ran out. (Which is good, because the food can be spicy!)

(3)Bob M.
(5)Rosie T.
(3)Alex G.
Consistantly good food. I love the Satay Chicken and their Panang is wonderful. Meat is usually well cooked with fresh vegetables. Service ranges from OK to terrible. If you call in an order check it before going home.
(3)Seong P.
it's a big restaurant with plenty of seating. i didn't see any rodents, thank god, but had i known beforehand, i would not have gone. we had the steamed pompano fish, fried rice, papaya salad and green chicken curry. everything was fine except that they put a lot of peas in their dishes. i hate peas. the papaya salad was probably the best thing we had. i had no problem with the service but i don't think i can eat here again.
(3)Kal R.
(1)Ben K.
this is the second time I am here. food is still decent but we got a sticker shock when the bill came. we are a party of five and the restaurant had automatically added not 15 but 18% of tip despite the menu had said 15%. the waiter was not willing to lower it. we are not happy after dinner.

(4)Sarah G.
(2)RainBow G.
(1)Mark R.
(4)Christina Y.
(2)Shari D.
(3)Shana A.
(3)Retired B.
Lunch specials are just average. Portions are somewhat small. Luckily I didnt have bad service as the other Yelpers.
(3)J M.
(5)sarah w.
(3)Isabel K.
(2)John-Pierre C.
(5)Anne N.
(3)George C.
(4)Azin O.
Great Thai food, never a disappointed, generous portions and awesome prices-one of a my favorites!!!
(5)hanna k.
great food and great proportions. fan of the yellow curry
(4)Jessica A.
(4)Jenny B.
This was the first Thai restaurant that I ate. I came here with my cousin, and my friend in lunch. The Thai tea was very yummy, the food was good too. I love it. =]
(4)Jennifer C.
(2)Daniela A.
(1)D S.
(5)Willis W.
I agree with the others that the food is tasty, but the service sucks in a an indifferent kinda way. I had the hardest time getting a water refill - same deal - they run right by and might see you, but don't stop. If I'm in a Thai restaurant, I need water, period.
(1)Andrenaline R.
Yummy pineapple fried rice. I'm not too sure how sanitary it is to wash out the leftover rice out of the pineapple and then refill the pineapple w/ fried rice and then serve it again????
(3)Jill k.
the food is fine, but the service is horrible, and with our proximity to many other five-star thai establishments, i probably won't be back soon...
(3)Ipee f.
the food is excellent although they do have persnicketty and pompous wait staff. he gave me a dirty look when i had left overs and i didn't want to take it home with me.
(4)John Ronald O.
(5)Christine J.
(2)Hari D.
We have decided to not to go to Banh Thai again in our live. Many many reasons to list.
(1)TIFFANY C.
I've lived in Fremont pratically all my life, but only recently tried out this jem. I gotta say by far the best Thai Restaurant. Not only do they have good service, good food, but their portions are good too. Unlike other Thai restaurants they give a good decent size (I usually have left overs).
(5)T M.
Pad Thai is excellent. Prices are reasonable for the portions you get. I've been to other thai restaurants that don't give much for your money. The service is a little slow, but the food is worth it. The crab fried rice is really good. Will come back.
(4)Allan H.

Decent Thai food. Thai Iced Tea was good.
(2)Brian L.
Before I came to this restaurant, I had the mindset of "it's impossible to screw up Thai food". Well I was wrong. The food just isn't good and the prices are too high given the quality. About the only thing that didn't suck about this place was the service.
(1)Suchi C.
This is probably my favorite Thai food place..Good food, descent service and location!!

(2)Khloe B.
(3)Raquel D.

(4)Victoria R.

(4)Linda H.
(3)R G.
(2)Amanda T.

(1)Nicole C.
(1)Laurel M.
(5)Christal T.
(3)John S.
(5)Tiffany T.
(2)Anand S.

(1)Justin O.

(4)Phillip R.
i was on a hunt for that elusive pad see ew with a taste i was yearning for. order --- pad see ew -sweet, not too salty or, liquidy the taste was pretty good. i kind of inhaled it as i prepared for work later that day. and the time it took to get out? faster than going to the bathroom and washing your hands.
(4)Jocelyn C.
(4)Bridget L.
(3)James A.
(1)Sneha S.
(4)D Y.
chicken pad thai - it's ok pad see ew - pretty good
(4)Quan D.
Ordered to go. They don't put any napkin, fork and expect I can eat with my hand? Really Banh Thai? You better check everything before five to go food to the customers. Ruin my dinner.
(1)Darlene P.
I was disappointed when after driving there and the waiter said he would not honor my prepaid groupon on my order to go. Just please indicate that in the groupon and save your customers time. They have poor customer service skills.
(2)Praveen c.
(2)Sara K.
(4)Senia S.
(4)Kunal S.
(1)Lakeisha S.
(1)Arjun S.
(3)Kenneth L.
(3)Ranjina R.
Average Thai food. Service isn't good at all. Servers never even smile at you. They do give huge portions. Food isn't bad but not great either. I do know of few other amazing Thai restaurants in the area so I may be a bit too tough with my rating as a result.
(3)Shailesha M.
Food was ok, not so tasty, doesn't hurt your taste bud and pocket to visit once...most of the food was sweet, roti curry was good but red sauce was bit over sweet..panana curry was tasty... You can skip pineapple fried rice..I would recommend Thai beer, it was different...
(3)Cis R.
(2)Ruby T.
(3)Nina M.

Great food!!!

(5)Justin J.
Chicken was undercooked and they would not provide a refund. Server said we should have told them sooner, but the waiter never came to check on our table until the check was dropped off. Bad experience, eat here at your own risk. Definitely on the lower end of quality.
(2)Ji P.
(5)Robin R.
the place to go for thai in fremont. Always yummy.
(5)Felicia I.
(3)Maria L.
i love coming here there food is delicious!! i had prawn fried rice , beef w/ broccoli, shrimp egg roll 32.58 it was very well worth it the flavors are amazing nothing was bland !!
(5)Sujoy S.
(4)Silence B.

I am usually very careful about writing feedback on yelp but I finally managed to create an account just because I am hoping that others can learn this
(1)Princess C.
Took them a while to get me brown rice to go. Maybe they don't like small single orders, other than that food is good whenever I eat here.
(3)Gurwinder B.
Staff was not really friendly but food was good.
(3)Jen V.
The food here never disappoint me but I'm only giving 3 stars because the owner/front desk person doesn't know how to smile
(3)Mindy N.

(4)Rashmi P.
Excellent place for vegetarians! I love the gadogado salad! Everything was flavorful with large quantities. Great place for families and friends.
(4)Dee V.
(3)miss b.
This is my go-to Thai restaurant! It is so delicious and the service is great too! I'm all about their pad see ew and the roti. GET THE ROTI! Their Thai iced too is fabulous. If you don't like spicy then make sure to tell them to keep the spice down on the curry.
(5)Michelle K.
(1)Lana Y.
(2)Michelle L.
(2)Danica L.
(3)Mei Y.
(5)Anna L.
- pretty delish Ordered a good amount of things: Roti with sauce -good Satay chicken - very good Pineapple fried rice- ok Panang curry with cat fish- ok Something that resembled pad see YU but it wasn't that...- very good! Spicy! Thai tea- not super sweet
(4)Elaine Y.
very nice accommodating staff. had thread noodle soup which was very tasty with lots of fresh seafood and not spicy. the sampler appetizer was huge for 2 people and consisted of a lot of fried food (tofu, angel wings, egg rolls) and chicken satay. it was good but very filling and like i said before lots of fried food. yellow curry with chicken had coconut milk in it and a little veggies (could have used more veggies). would definitely go back for more yummies.
(4)Sue Ann D.
'Nuff said.
(1)Margret A.
(4)Suavecito m.
Have been here countless times and I must admit that I enjoy the environment and the decor at this thai establishment. The food is pretty average however , and this place gets packed during lunch. A favorite thai venue for many in the area and thrives due to it's prime location.
(2)Jennifer H.
(4)Dorothy F.
(5)Jackie S.
(3)Jane R.
Yum. Good, good food served quickly and in great portions. Value! This is a casual place which presents a large and varied menu of food choices served with above average presentation. Excellent choice for walk-in or reserved seating any day!
(5)Eme L.
(3)Nand P.

(4)Saamy A.
This is a good enough Thai place I'd say. It is moderately pricy and food is good enough. Not so great as far as customer service goes, they always seem to be in a rush even if they are not crowded. Overall if you dont mind a little rudeness and good enough food - this a good neighborhood thai restaurant.
(3)Erin C.
This was my first Thai experience and I found it VERY delicious! The service was good and prompt.
(5)Erica C.
Service is slow. other than that....best yellow curry ever!!!
(4)Surge C.

(4)Silva G.
(5)C K.
(4)Kathleen J.
i kinda felt it to be very unauthentic since there were no chopsticks! im not even sure if people in thailand use chopsticks but up until now all of the thai restaurants ive been to have chopsticks. decor is very outdated and reminds me of a sticky, old, restaurant stuck in the 80's with the pale walls and metal/pleather chairs. but food was decent! tom ka was on point. pad kee mao was really yummy. banh thai fried rice was pretty cool since it was served in a pineapple shell. i wonder if they reuse pineapple shells? lol overall good value with good portions and good thai food. and i saw you can order online...thats always a plus.
(3)J V.
(3)Vino L.
(3)Betty N.
I've been to this place a handful of times. I always ordered the Pad see ewe. Very greasy, but tastes ok.
(3)Thanh N.
I've come here a few times. This is my designated Pad Thai place! It's not the best I've had, sorry. But it's one of the better places in my neighborhood, so it'll have to do. They're really nice though :)
(4)Bobby K.
(5)Tenia T.
My husband and I try to eat here at least twice a month!! Their food here is great!! The only thing when we dine in, sometimes its very busy and not enough help. I would advise to call ahead of time and order for pick up, otherwise this place is great!!!!

Trying the sea bass. UPDATED: Sea Bass with green curry was on point! Not sure about everything else. Atmosphere is so so..
(3)Pranav B.
(1)G C.

(2)Wilson C.
(4)andrew m.
(5)DJ N.

Love the taste and portion is a plus - get your dollars worth!

EWWWWW... This place is gross. It was the worst way to spend $40 dollars. The service was a direct correlation to the food, it was disgusting. ENOUGH SAID

Thai curry was good but the chicken was firm and didnt taste fresh. Maybe it was just that day but I have had better.
(2)Swapnil D.
The food is okay. The bad part, however, is the service or the lack thereof. They treat you like they are doing you a favor by taking your order. I strongly recommend Sala Thai over this one.
(2)Charlotte C.
I come here because the food and service is good. If I was in the area, I'd come back again.
(4)Merri P.

I like!!
(4)Jason L.

(4)Eric O.
The pumpkin curry and pad thai are pretty good here. Service is pretty good as well.

UPDATE: The owner of Banh Thai is so sweet, she emailed me thanking me for my nice review, and offered me a complimentary mango rice dish the next time I visit there, as a thank you. Will do! Thank you very much!

(5)Alan O.

The pineapple fried rice here is amazing! The service was quick, and the food wasnt too greasy. It has a lot of vegetarian options too :) Thai iced tea was great! =)

(4)Desmond J.
This restaurant has great food presentation and great food. I love the Mango Chicken. I have not ordered anything I didn't like.
(5)Jynelle S.
Best Thai food I've ever had. Super nice owner!!! Friendly staff and big portions! You should try it. Good pricing, too!
(5)Brittany H.

Love it! Excellent food for lunch or dinner. I could eat here every day. You can get a good coupon at restaurant.com , too!
(5)Missie R.
(1)Tiffany H.

(3)Candice S.
Okay so the food is great, delicious, awesome, really really good....the red chicken curry comes HIGHLY recommended...BUT I probably would order take out the next time I want food from here. Again, not the kind of place that you would see yourself walking around barefoot in...catch my drift?
(4)Anne O.

10 of us went there for Sunday lunch. Food was good, service was good. I liked all the dished except for pad thai. Service quantities are sufficient. Kids loved chicken Sa-tay. Pictures in the menu helped in choosing dishes.

Good food, better soup

This is me and my boyfriends FAVE Thai food place. The service is great and attentive, and the food is SO GOOD! Our fave dishes are the wings of love, potstickers, chicken atay, and shrimp fried rice. You know something else thats crazy, they have the best FREE water Ive ever tasted, and Im picky with my water (Evian kinda girl)! You have to try this place, I hope they are able to do some renovating though, the place is kinda old. ;)
