After getting a horrible experience while ordering at their competitors', ordered take out at the "reliable" Sticky Rice. Food is always awesome, as is the service. Why do I try anywhere else this close to home? Lesson learned. An absolute must in Fairfield

I've eaten at the Sticky Rice twice so far. Once I ate in, excellent service and great food. The beverage from the bar was great as well and priced very well. Tonight I went in and picked up take out. My husbands first experience, and he's kinda picky when it comes to his roast duck. Well he admitted compared to his regular place this was better. I only gave it 3 stars because I've yet to experience the entertainment. Love the views, and the place is quite nice arranged and decorated well. Thank you Sticky Rice for choosing Fairfield. We needed this.

I went here for lunch one day and i rally enjoyed my experience. The location is weird( in a business park) but the inside is decorated quite well. Walking to our table the bar stands out and is fully stocked. the cocktails on the menu are pretty standard and are good. For our order we split orders of the Garlic scallops, fried rice, and a spicey beef. All of our food was very good. The fried rice was not dried out as some places do it, but it was very flavorful and the presentation was great. The spicey beef was just that. spicey with great flavor and fresh vegetables. Now my favorite of then 3 was the Garlic Scallops. man were these good. Fried scallops in an amazing sesame garlic sauce. the scallops were perfectly cooked with a slighty crunchy batter that did now mask the flavor of the sweet mollusk. it was so good i wish i could of had just a plate of that. In closing, this place is a really good establishment to go to for lunch. I haven't been for dinner, but i hope the service and food is as good as it was when i went for lunch.

Can you spell mediocre? Decent setting and service, but food is bland and overpriced for what it is. I won't be going back. My lunch partner felt the same way...

So we were looking for some decent Chinese outside of SF and saw this place reviewed by a few locals and decided to try it. When we walked in we were greeted right away and seated. Our waitress was very nice and attentive (although I think it may have had to do with the fact we mentioned we found this place on Yelp and we were from SF so we were used to a certain quality and standard of Chinese) and she tried awfully hard to impress us. We decided to go with dishes that were highly recommend there and said to be comparable to those of SF. The prices however were not comparable at $8 bucks for hot and sour soup (I could get this for about $3-$4 bucks and a bigger size) Our second dish being chow fun for like $10 bucks (again I could get it in SF for under $5) and our third dish being some fried scallops in some tangy sweet sauce (they were good but would prefer those not fried) and paid $16 for those. Now the chow fun wasn't horrible but I still prefer SF's and the hot and sour soup was very decent and i think comparable to that of SF minus the price tag. Oh and forgot to mention I wanted tea as we normally have tea with our Chinese or other Asian foods, and that was $4 bucks for a small pot of tea which would be around 50 cent to $1 in SF. At the end our bill was almost over $45 with tax and tip, whereas for the same amount of food we'd be only spending around $20-$25 with tax and tip in SF. Now I realize it's a small town and there ain't much competition, but seriously, what gives?? Anyway, it was pretty decent for a suburb, but for the price I might as well just drive to SF and eat on Clement or Irving and still have about $10-$15 bucks to spare in my pocket. I guess I wouldn't mind though coming back for the hot and sour soup. So given that the service was good, the staff attentive, and the food pretty decent, I'm only taking off one star for the cost.

So I'm not a huge fan of chineese food, but was very happy with my wantan soup. The ingredients seemed fresh, it was served at just the right temperature, and the serving size was large.

I've eaten at Sticky Rice several times...the food itself isn't too bad, it's good ...but nothing special! It didn't leave me wanting for more...food that is! Although the restaurant itself has a decent atmosphere and the bar area is cool. However, the bartender that night took forever to take our drink order as well as make our cocktails...it wasn't even a busy night? However from now on I think I would probably settle to call for take out!

The food is now better. Comtemporary decor and bar with well-prepared Chinese food...good portions, fresh ingredients, selections, etc. Try chicken wings. Good HK chow mein, salt & pepper pork, chicken with veg's. Don't order the steak...tough cut of meat. Otherwise, we're coming back.

Wow! Let me say again, Wow! I had lunch here today and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. We ordered, and shared, the Steamed Sea Bass & the Eggplant/Tofu. The sea bass was cooked to perfection in a delicate sauce. The eggplant was in a savory sauce that the tofu soaked up. The service was prompt and the food was hot off the stove when served. Portions were generous. The prices were reasonable for the portion size. This is a restaurant that I will seek out again.

Um, let us talk about location. Finding this place is about as hard as finding your way out of the lost Forrest in Zelda. When will people get it, if you want your restaurant to make money. Customers have to be able to get to it. Also, if you have to put signs that point the way then it is apparent that your location sucks. All the money spent on this restaurant is amazing. I do not know how they are staying afloat. Cash must be just flowing out. I have been to Sticky Rice a lot (my girlfriend some how loves the place), there has not been a time when we didn't have the restaurant to our self. Are people spending money here? How are they keeping the restaurant staffed? Is it owned by a billionaire steel baron from the 1900's? Ahhhh. Here is the thing. The food is good, it's nice inside, the service is okay, my girlfriend loves it, and I like it. Where are the people? It is a shame to see a restaurant that I believe is not a chain go down the tubes. Go there so at least my girlfriend and I can do a little people watching. Jeeeez.

This place is located on the bottom floor of a commercial building. Brilliant, i think. I have been here SEVERAL times...i used to work down the street, so you can rest assure that my opinions is based off of many many meals at this place. I'm very picky about chinese food. Half the time I don't even order meat at chinese places. I go to Hunan Villa in Pinole alot and like it. Sticky rice isn't a bad place to go to at all. You will enjoy the ambiance and the food is great to. I like to order their hong kong crispy noodles and the 5 spiced prawns. (you might not see this one on the menu but they can make it for you. This would've received 5 stars but I always get stuck with the same waitress and she moves at a snails pace and feels the need to interject when i am ordering. Hm.... shes a bit older than the rest and has an accent... Crazy story is, she used to be a waitress at Happy Garden down the street and is now working at Sticky Rice. ( She DEFINTELY worked there and if you don't think so then we are talking about the wrong person all together or maybe you really shouldn't care...but trust folks SHE WAS EMPLOYED AT HAPPY GARDEN. let it go "family members" ) My coworkers, friends and family have experienced her service on their own BOTH at Happy garden and Sticky and i am not alone in this critique. I hope she never gets fired or anything. *Update" This little paragraph here has given me attention from a few yelpers here and instead paying attention to the food or how great this place is, some bored yelpers care only about this mystery waitress who they swear never worked down the street, check it. We could be talking about the wrong person folks, woosahh...talk about the food and the ambiance. P.S. I added an extra star because i think the owner is great! Really nice lady. =) I like sticky rice.. Fairfield is very limited but this has been a nice little addition.

You know, I actually liked the food here but it's not worth the high prices they charge. Eating fancy chinese is not my idea of fine dining. I can go to Frank and Yuen for twice the portion and half the cost. Sticky Rice is clean and nicely decorated and the service is good though.

I was expecting sanitized uninspired Americanized Chinese food, but was pleasantly surprised. I got the squash curry, and the squash was perfectly steamed. The curry wasn't spicy but was flavorful. I was on a business lunch, and the others got dishes that looked good as well. Not authentic at all, but clean, not greasy, and good tasting. The service was a bit awkward, as the guy seemed VERY new. He would seem to recite the necessary "how's everything?" and not give enough time for answer and walk away... well, maybe not that extreme, but his timing felt off and rushed. Overall, a good experience!

Every time I've eaten here, I've been very impressed with the food. I especially recommend the honey walnut prawns, sizzling rice soup, and hong kong style noodles.

I was surprised to find this type of asian restaurant in Fairfield; many of the menu items are not found in any other asian restaurant in the area unless you drove down to San Francisco. I've been to this place a few times, and I haven't been disappointed yet. Currently, my favorite items have been the steamed sea bass and the nori fried rice. For dessert, I recommend the fried bananas, although I feel the batter is too thick, it still tasted great. It is served with green tea mousse and raspberry sauce. Yum. So far, the service is up to par. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive; they would come and refill our drinks when needed and ask about our meal. If you'd rather drink than eat, they have a bar where you can hang-out. I would give this place 5-stars, but the one draw back to this place is the portions. I always complement places that give substational portions; however, I was disappointed with this place. For the price I pay for the items, I would expect the portions to match. But all in all, I highly recommend this place for others to try.

went there for lunch, service was very good, food was above average, price may have been a little higher than the norm for Fairfield, I'll go back again.

This place was amazing. We were going to Napa and somehow ended up in Fairfield. Stopped at a hotel and asked for a restaurant to go to and the attendant directed us to Sticky Rice. My girlfriend and I were apprehensive when we arrived, but when our potstickers and green papaya salad arrived, everything changed. The food was decadent, and the waiters were extremely attentive and helpful. We are from San Francisco and know what good Chinese food is, and this was the perfect fusion restaurant. Kudos.

Overall the food was good, but the service really wasn't up to par. The bussers weren't attentive at all. If you want really good service i would advise you to come right when they open. For all those who worked in the restrauant buisness, you know that right when the door is open, the employee's will sit around and gossip among them selves.

In search of a new place to eat, I found a surprise waiting for me. I've always passed by this place on the way to Costco or Pet Club but never looked them up for reviews. I was apprehensive at first of trying out this place since my experience with Asian food in suburbs or "remote" areas failed to meet my expectations compared to the variety and flavor San Francisco has to offer. Despite any preconceptions, it appears a fair amount of users rated it highly for Asian cuisine and they were right. For a Chinese restaurant, they also carry non-Chinese dishes such as bulgogi. We ended up ordering 3 dishes here. All of them were great. The hot and sour soup is spicy and flavorful. The combination chow fun is outstanding. If it lacks any flavor it would be due to a lack of MSG. Their crispy scallops are good but I would've preferred pan-seared instead of having it breaded. The sauce it comes with is excellent. The tea isn't free, you order it by the pot for about $2.50. Rice also wasn't free. We opted for the brown rice for $2. The dcor is nice and feels more like an upscale Chinese restaurant. Portions are decent, not as big as the ones you can get in SF but they're not as small as Mandalay. Two entrees to share is adequate to fill your needs or stomach for that matter. The service we received was excellent although it may have been biased since we mentioned we found them rated on Yelp and we normally eat out in San Francisco. Their pricing is higher due to the fact there is no competition in Fairfield like there is in SF. The dcor adds value to the experience and some people might find the prices reasonable. If you're used to paying $5 for an entree at San Francisco, you'll find the prices here are in the $8-$15 on average for an entree. We ended up spending $40 (tax included in the price). It's hard to give this place five stars due to their pricing but food wise they deserve a 4.5. Their food is actually comparable to SF and certainly better than the Great Wall (Chinese buffet), Panda Express, or PF Chang (Americanized Chinese food chain).

really great food and wonderful service. we had a big family birthday here (40+ people, lots of out-of-towners) today and molly and her crew were nothing but helpful. plus, everyone kept saying how good the food was. i've been here before and will be back. bonus - the pretty fountain outside and the nice views of hillsides when you look out the windows.

Very nice ambiance, especially for Fairfield, where ambiance is severely lacking. View of the artificial pond, the hills, and the pine trees at dusk was very nice through the large picture windows. The place is new, clean, and very well designed. The dining rooms were large and roomy. The place was lively, but we didn't have to wait even though it was Friday night. I sensed that Sticky Rice aspires to be like PF Chang's, but it compares pretty well. The fried calamari was superior. The Hunan chicken suffered from too much salt, but was still tasty. According to the menu it was spicy, but I found it not spicy at all. The Hong Kong crispy noodles were very good, as was the spicy crispy tofu enjoyed by the vegetarian in our party. While I don't appreciate wait persons that hover and continually ask how the food is, I found the service here a little negligent. All in all, though, we had a good time, enjoyed the meal, and expect to be back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
