Same as any other diner on 101. Service was fast and food was ok.

This is a classic dinner. They have some wonderful dishes. It is really a breakfast place as lunches there are not very exciting hence the four star. Try the chicken machaca omelet is wonderful with fresh homemade guacamole and salsa on top. They make great hollandaise sauce too.Twice a year I treat myself to an apple pancake. An apple pancake is a version of a German pancake. It is made with eggs and milk and I do not know what else. it is baked in an iron skillet in the oven until it is puffy . covered with apples and powdered sugar. Caveat...the portions are big here so be really hungry or share.
(4)Robin D.
Ho-made hollandaise sauce is amazing, it almost doesn't matter what goes under; but the things they put under it are pretty amazing! Good coffee too.
(5)Elizabeth B.
Best acai bowls! The acai is a scoop of acai sorbet versus more of a smoothie consistency. Love the granola and mango too! Husband has loved the chorizo scramble and huevos rancheros.
(5)Kaylen K.
My husband said that this was the best breakfast that he's ever eaten. I would tie it for best with Hash House A Go Go. Get here early, because there will be a line! We ordered: Blueberry Pancakes - Amazing. Huge, moist, delicious and just amazing. Bacon, Spinach, Mushroom Omelet - filled with yummy, thick-cut bacon and has toppings in every bite. The best omelet I've ever had. Corned Beef Hash - Delicious. Super flavorful and a side order is perfect for sharing! Home Fries - I asked them to make them crunchy because she said they came soft. They were really good! My husband got the special of the day - Crab cake Benedict, and he said it was amazing. A great crab cake with great hollandaise sauce. Everything was great and the prices were definitely reasonable. I would go back in a heartbeat.
(5)Judi B.
Great food and staff. My personal favorite the benedict!
(4)C K.
I eat here all the time Best eggs Benedict I've ever had I have eggs Benedict all over the place as its my favorite breakfast food and this is the best yet! Servers are down to earth and very accommodating!
(5)Claudia H.
101 It is always on my "to do" list when driving to the SD area. They always fulfill the three "F's": Fresh, Filling and Fantastic and my spanish "B's": Bueno, Bonito, y Barato. Make sure you look at their daily specials. They change everyday. My favorite dish their has to be the Carne asada California Eggs Benidict which is a house special and not an everyday menu item. It's basically the California Eggs Benidict with avocado, carne asada and tomato. Yummy! The second time we went, we all tried different dishes. I had their hawaiian pancakes which are pancakes with fresh bananas and pineapple chunks in them topped with coconut syrup. Sounded great but once I tried them, I noticed the syrup was too thick and too sweet. My daughter had their apple pancakes which basically tasted like apple pie. Good- in moderation or else, the sweetness will get to you. My husband had the machaca omlette which was out of this world!! The sauce was not spicey and it was perfectly cooked. This place is only open half the day so check hours of business. It is SO worth trying!
(5)Karen L.
The best breakfast place in Encinitas! Spicy Chicken Omelette ans apple pancake is so awesome!!!
(5)Doug P.
Basic but good. Staff nice & menu flexible. Hawaiian pancakes a change of pace...mahalo.
(4)Dave W.
My friend Chris and his dog took me to a restaurant off the 101 in a beach town down North of San Diego. Eggs benedict were awesome. Chris had shaved benedict and a waffle with fresh orange juice... Very good !
(5)Lisa L.
Very cute place, nice location. Strawberries in my crepes were frozen, soggy, and overall unappealing. Like fresh fruit, or would like something else.
(2)Paul W.
This is a great diner, and a popular one at that. Breakfast time, and many people had the same idea to go to 101 Diner. We waited some minutes which was ok for there was a place to sit and look at the sports page of the Sunday newspaper. We had a nice table inside, and decided to try a special of the day, and a regular. One of ther specials was scrambled eggs with asperagus, which I had, and sweetie had a more normal breakfast of eggs over easy and a sausage. I liked this diner and will come again.
(4)Jim H.
In the past 10 months I have spent a total of 7 nights in Encinitas and I have had breakfast here every single morning in spite of the free breakfast at the hotel. The food is fine (and the eggs benedict even excellent), but that's not why it's probably my favorite breakfast joint ever. It's the super friendly, welcoming attitude of the people who work there. Some other poster said they are all "cute surfer girls". I don't know if they surf but they are cute & very fit looking and of course that's definitely a plus, but it's being around enthusiastic, friendly people who seem to love their job that makes it for me.
(5)Tracy D.
Wow, we decided to breakout of our usual weekend routine of going to our local Encinitas favorite and tried the 101diner. Great food, fun atmosphere. The wait staff was fantastic. We will be back. Added bonus: dog friendly.
(5)Ashley W.
We eat here on vacation every time when visiting from Phoenix, AZ. I recommend the skate special, eggs Benedict or the banana walnut pancakes. Everything is always fresh tasting and the service is fantastic too. Dinning at the 101 Diner is a must when visiting Encinitas.
(5)Brendon D.
No frills and does it right. We rolled here after camping and surfing. It was cold and we need some serious breakfast. The 101 delivered with that special touch that only local diners know how to give. They have front patio seating on the sidewalk and a counter. We sat at the counter. You get to watch the guys work the hot plate when you sit at the counter. I love watching that sort of stuff. We had: Acai Bowl: order the small. It looks like an XL. I'd say order it and split it among a few people in addition to normal breakfast order Eggs over medium & wheat toast: Standard, but the bread was amazing. They guy said it was from San Diego Bakery. I'd say go here for a great casual breakfast. Don't half step. Sit at the counter and have a good conversation with the big dewd. He's super nice.
(4)PIper R.
i love the 101!! best people and food there is in town!
(5)Greg S.
Went there today, Mother's Day. Line as expected was huge but once we were seated service was surprisingly fast! I mean food served within about 15 minutes! Sign of a well run place. Each of the 4 of us had a different breakfast item and all were great. I like the coffee cups with the advertisements and general beach ambiance. Definitely will return.
(4)Danielle H.
Another great experience at 101 Diner. Their coffee is so good and their asparagus scramble is very tasty! Boyfriend ordered the special eggs benedict (the specialty there) with cilantro jalapeno hollandaise and he loved it. They poach their eggs perfectly so that the yolk drizzles right down and saturates the english muffin, etc. Their potatoes are nice and crispy and their homemade salsa is basically life-changing. The service was great and the guy manning the wait-list was not only super friendly, but totally on it. One lady who was just relaxing at one of the prime tables outside while she waited for the rest of her party was asked to move and free up that table so that we could sit down and enjoy a fabulous Sunday morning brunch.
(5)Kara R.
hmmmm........where to go for breakfast on Sunday morning? We figured we would try this place since it's so close to home. WOW! the best breakfast I have had in north county yet! We sat at the counter and watched 3 guys cook on a line like I have never seen. Two fleas couldn't have danced in the space that these guys worked in. Our waitress was super sweet, coffee was refilled before it was half empty and kinda shocked how quick and efficient they were. Looks like we found our new breakfast spot!
(5)Allie R.
Great crab cake eggs Benedict, hubby got the Louisiana sausage Benedict and that was also great with the "ho-made" hollandaise. Kids portions are huge and we also ordered a banana walnut pancake in the side which is one of the best I've ever had. Overall great food and great service- never had to search for my server and my coffee stayed full.
(5)Katie S.
Used to be our favorite breakfast restaurant. Went nowhere else but here. Recently, our favorites have taken a nose dive. Not sure what is going on in kitchen. Hope it recovers but we will not be going back for quite a while, if ever.
(2)Katherine B.
If you are searching for a respectable hearty breakfast, this is really a excellent location to go. It's a bit smaller, but the food is fantastic and comes in good-sized portions. The waitstaff is friendly sufficient, although it'll get congested on particular days. I wouldn't suggest it to people who are in a hurry. But in case you like to take your time over breakfast or lunch with buddies and family, this is the spot to go to.
(4)Jonathan Y.
The breakfast at the 101 Diner is out of this world good. There is generally always a line out the door. I've been here 3 times in the last three years, so finally decided to write a review. The Acai berry bowl is like 'healthy' ice cream surrounded by nuts, oats, and a bunch of other good stuff. it's also a very generous portion, so it will fill you up. The Eggs/bacon/hasbrowns/sausage are all very, very good. Some of the best breakfast items I have ever had. The eggs benedict specifically is awesome. Every breakfast place I visit I always get the eggs benedict first, as a litmus test for the quality I can expect. The hollandaise sauce is very rich, but not over poweringly-so. The english muffins were crisp and thick. I'm always right in line for the place when I visit CA. A must if you are visiting, and an obvious choice if you already live here. My favorite breakfast place, bar none.
(5)Tim G.
Went here for breakfast on the way home from San Diego last week, and absolutely loved it. There was all kind of good stuff on the menu, but I wound up going with the monte cristo sandwich. It's hard to go wrong with the egg-battered thousand-calorie masterpiece, and the 101 Diner's did not disappoint. And their "ho-made" fries were delicious as well. I couldn't stop eating them. My lady had an omelette with "ho-made" salsa, and loved that as well. Whoever that ho is does quite a job! Prices were very reasonable, and service was quick and friendly as well. I'll definitely go back here if I'm ever in the area and in need of a delicious, large, and affordable breakfast!
(5)Samantha V.
The wife and I had breafast there Sunday morning. What really impressed me was the owner letting us in before opening time. He is really a nice guy and his staff seemed very polite. The food was pretty much standard for neighborhood cafe good but not great. Would go again if in the neighborhood mainly becuase the owner is cool.
(4)Richard B.
I love this place. Great Steak and Eggs, and a terrific Eggs Benidict (my wife is vegatarian, and the Californian is her FAV in all of So. Cal.). The staff is always the best, and the sidewalk seating area is the way to go on the nice days. Excellent people watching. The parking is sketchey sometimes, but well worth the effort.
(4)Minna S.
Very good cheese burgers and great service! Love the place.
(4)Kaba G.
Egg's Benedict Maple-Bacon-Avocado were delicious.
(4)Rizzo S.
Just happened to stumble upon this place by randomly pulling over on the way from L.A. to San Diego to try and find a cafe to get breakfast. We had the special eggs benedict with shaved ham and jalapeno cilantro hollandaise and an omelet (I can't remember the name) that had veggies and feta. We were really impressed. Super fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. And we couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were. These dishes were under $8 each. What a shocker - guess we are used to L.A. prices. Service was friendly and the place had a nice vibe about it. We sat outside and the service was nice and attentive. Pet friendly too. Four stars because one of us ordered the fruit as our side and we were unpleasantly surprised to find that it had canned (!) peaches and pineapple in it along with not-so-fresh cut fruit. Seemed very odd considering the use of such fresh ingredients in the breakfast entrees. Still think it was a great unexpected find. Will definitely stop here again next time we make the L.A. to S.D. trek.

A-ok food
(3)Roger D.
Your California eggs benedict rock my socks. I can't get by on a a couple of fixes once or twice a month. You are too much for me 101, you sonofawhoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you.
(4)HJ H.
I've been seeing this restaurant whenever I passed by with bike, and finally tried it in this weekend. I ordered California Eggs Benedict with my friend's recommendation. I chose tomato and avocado instead of bacon, cottage cheese instead of french fry as side option. well, it was very light and healthy protein breakfast, yet still yummy. I enjoyed every bite of breakfast. I also liked the taste of ham which was served with other egg dish my friend ordered.. Well, most of time I suffered weird stomach feeling after eggs benedict and thought I might have an issue with Hollandaise sauce. but I learned today that it was not the case since I did not suffer any weird stomach feeling after this breakfast. still wonder why.. anyway, service was very gentle, nice, and prompt. Our waitress did not interrupt our conversation, yet provided attention as we needed. Price is very reasonable as well.

Cute, fun, kid-friendly, super good, and great service. We traveled up to north county on our way to the botanic garden (review follows) and had a super good breakfast on Sunday morning. Quick service, great coffee, and good food... they have the basics down! We were thinking about going to the place across the street, but opted for this place for its many reviews. Their mugs are cute, too... with lots of local advertisers on them. What a great idea! If you're up in north county, it's definitely worth a stop... I do love that things are listed as 'Ho-made'.
(4)Michael H.
got brunch here with an old college buddy. their apple pancake was really good, but not quite what one would expect. it was almost like a flattened apple tart. I ended up eating half of my wife's and also my own breakfast. i got the carne asada eggs benedict. I think it was one of the daily specials. It was really tasty. we had a bigger table, but they were very accommodating and got us some outside seating.
(4)cathy g.
Great fresh fast breakfast - my favorite combination. Seated within 10 minutes - the line moved fast. Local owner, local food, friendly service, positive vibe. Crepes and Eggs Benedict - highly recommend. $24 (incl tip) for two hungry adults at 10am on a Saturday. Does it get any better?
(5)Jen C.
Great service and the eggs Benedict was the best I've had. My new favorite cafe.
(4)Helaana C.
From the Owner of the 101 Diner- Further proof why I will never go here and I advise you spend your money somewhere where you don't get harassing emails from the owner. See below. I received this after mentioning them in another yelp review. scott s. Block User 2 minutes ago You've banned the 101 Diner? Then we've banned you. Make sure and wear that goofy hat when you try to sneak back in here, so we can recognize you and 86 you properly. The 101 Diner
(1)John R.
I just don't know how anyone could even give this place anything less than a 5 star. Every single week I dream of their Louisiana Benedict that I know I'll be getting on Saturday morning. Or if iI tie one on the night before, perhaps I'll roll in on Saturday afternoon. We take my dog MJ up there every week and they always know to get him his own seat. If you ever stop by and see a beefy puggle hanging out in his own chair, be sure to come by and give him a scratch behind the ears. Sarah is my favorite waitress and is probably the nicest person I've ever met. I don't think she's ever had a bad day at work. She always smiles and it makes the experience that much better. So when you go, seriously, get the benedict. Okay, or the Hawaiian Pancakes...or if it's not breakfast time get the club sandwich. But mostly, get the benedict. It is so good. Oh and if you go on Saturday, request to sit inside, so I don't have to wait as long for an outdoor table :)
(5)Matthias K.
High quality, Big portions. I had the Crêpes and Orange juice, and they were both really fresh. Definitely going back
(5)Christine B.
Fantastic breakfast! We stopped in with our kids yesterday on the way to the beach. expecting to have some quick eggs or pancakes, but ended up having a great meal and fun conversation with the owner while he cooked. He even recommended a good beach for us to visit on our way out of town! Our kids enjoyed sitting with the locals at the counter, the staff was friendly, and the scrambled eggs with asparagus and feta was out of this world! Our potatoes were cooked to perfection, and the kids had tasty pancakes and waffles. We love hole-in-the-wall restaurants when we're on vacation. This is one of our new favorites and we'll be sure to come back!
(4)Linda S.
What a great choice for the weekend brunch...maybe a wait, but it is worth it. The specials are always good and the atmosphere is perfect....truly a diner. So don't change, don't remodel, don't stop doing what you are doing!
(4)Marti C.
Just visited on Good Friday. The diner is small but mighty. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated immediately inside, outside was packed. The menu is vast with lots of great egg and sandwich menu choices. We opted for lunch, but breakfast is served all day. I had the turkey club and my friend had the Rueben. Both sandwiches were excellent and the fries were great. However, after we'd been there for like 35 minutes they began to close up shop. Tables outside were brought inside and stacked up. All condiments from the tables were pulled. We were never rushed but in like 10 minutes we were the only customers. Strange. The web site said nothing about closing early for the holiday. No idea. The food was good, service was a bit sparse, but overall good. I'd go back and give breakfast a chance.
(4)Michael B.
Went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning around 9:30 AM. No wait and the food arrived almost instantly. Great Eggs Benedict (The California to be exact). Didn't really try anything else. Solid coffee, nice staff. This is a locals type place with a lot of early morning surfers carbing up before they head to the water. Not CoCo's or Denny's, this is where you want to go. Highly recommended and priced very reasonably...
(4)Fabi R.
Been here twice now for breakfast. Had the Eggs Benedict both times. Not the best I've ever had, but right up there. The Ho-Made Hollandaise is perfectly emulsified with just a hint of lemon, Canadian Bacon is cut thick and the English Muffins had a great chew. The potatoes they come with are fluffy and tasty, if slightly under seasoned. I asked for them well done both times - once they came out with a super dark, crispy exterior and a cloud-like middle. Yum! The second time not as good as the first, but still pretty darned good. Servers are cute little surfer chicks. Very nice, laid back and friendly. Pretty quick on the food. My only beef with this place was that both times I went, they had Crab Cake Bennies on the Specials board...and both times were sold out. Great little diner for breakfast.
(4)Mitch N.
You have to try their Eggs Benedict. I prefer the one with the Louisiana Sausage. Every few weeks, they make a batch with cilantro and jalapeos in the hollandaise sauce. It's amazing. Their omelette's are also pretty good too. Parking may take a few trips around the block. The line to eat may get a little long at times on the weekend. But the food is pretty darn worth it.
(4)Joseph E.
Haven't been here for a couple of months and I forgot what I was missing out on. Get the Jalepeno Turkey Melt!!! Avacado, melted swiss, turkey, and jalepenos all on sourdough, need I say more? Got it with Clam Chowder on the side... pretty tasty. This was the first time I got lunch here. I usually get breakfast because it is soo good. If you are in the mood for breakfast try the mediteranian omlet. The feta and avacado really make the omlet extra flavorfull. I came all the way from Mission Valley and it was well worth the drive.
(5)Sueann N.
They have great food!! I love there ACAI fruit bowl.. It's the best here... got to try there food..
(5)J T.
This diner is the quinessential So Cal beach town diner. A few blocks from the ocean, you have your choice of dining al fresco or inside. Our waitress was very nice, and she had some great meal suggestions. She overheard one of my dining companions and I talking about splitting two different entrees, and to our (pleasant) surprise delivered the meals already split on two separate plates. The diner had unique variations on eggs benedict. I ordered the Carne Asada Eggs Benedict, which had an avacado 'ho-llendaise' sauce. The coffee was fresh, and they refilled our mugs frequently. I recommend a visit.
(4)Roz L.
I drive all the way from Bankers Hill to 101 Diner in Encinitas for their breakfast. It is that good. When I used to live in Encinitas it was my go-to breakfast spot, and I have not forgotten it yet. They always always have delicious breakfast items. I try to go for something on their special board. The carne asada benedicts with avocado and cilantro hollandaise, yum! oh and the carne asada omelet is terrific. The cooks there know how to make some food with love. Its awesome to watch them cook. The kitchen is right behind the counter. They cook like they could do it with one arm behind their back. Thank you for so many delicious breakfasts paisanos :) mmm, I'm getting hungry.

Final Decision: If I had a long night of partying, I would definitely have the omelets here... So the GF and I desired some brunch and she heard of this spot from her sister, so why not give it a try. We arrived and found a couple of tables available so we sat outside and viewed the pedestrians that passed by gawking at other tables and the food ordered. Service - good, attentative, almost forgot the GF OJ, but apologized and got it out quickly. Food ordered: had some difficulty, fairly extensive breakfast menu and various daily specials that all seemed very enticing. Apple baked pancakes - sounds darn good, looks even better on the plate, but didn't taste like a pancake. Consistency tastes more like a pastry or doughnut. Though the consistency was unexpected the flavors were very tasty. The GF preferred my dish though. California omelet - had bacon, mushroom, green peppers, spinach, garlic, jalapenos, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. This was very tasty, great fresh ingredients. Omelet wasn't fluffy, but packed with all the above ingredients. Ordered potatoes and sourdough toast. The potatoes were made in a form of a hash which was nice and crisp all the way through. Probably one of the best breakfast omelets I had in the area. Food was relatively good, the location was nice, I would definitely come back again, for the omelet or a different breakfast pancake dish.

Fun, beachy diner. Average burgers, good service, stop here if you're hungry for a diner meal. Not much more to say... This may be a Coast Highway icon. Not sure.
(3)Mark M.
Had breakfast there after being eighty-sixed a couple of years ago. Service still sucks. Wait staff still doesn't' know what in some of the items. Told you I'd get back in, I had to to write another raving review for you. And by the way, your response to my initial comments before, was really professional. I said it before and I'll say it again "MORON"
(1)Alton H.
If your stomach was a person it would be kicking your ass for not going to this place right now. We go here on the weekends for stellar breakfast. They have all the basics and more. There's a "specials" list each morning that consists of things like "Carne Asada Benedict" and an assortment of pancakes filled with awesome. If you like hollandaise sauce you might want to get your cholesterol checked right now because its going to be going up the next time you go here. It's located in the last sleepy beach town in San Diego County. The staff is friendly and the food is great. You can even bring your dog and sit on the patio if you want. It's my favorite breakfast spot in San Diego.
(5)alex b.
Amazing pancakes here!! Service is good and quick and prices are just right
(4)Dan G.
Only been here once for brunch, but damn was it good. I got the tropical pancakes with coconut and pineapple with coconut syrup and they were really good (and very sweet, but that's what I was in the mood for). My wife had the Avocado Maple Bacon Benedict, which was just ridiculously amazing. Prices were great too. Plus, they were really nice to our dog. We'll be back soon, and it will probably bounce up to a 5.
(4)Mike B.
The Hawaiian pancakes are heaven on earth!
(5)Trish S.
It was 6 a.m. and after driving a friend to the airport at the crack of dawn, I needed a bite before heading into work. New to SD so dont know too many spots, and never up that early normally, I drove up the PCH and saw cars parked and lights on at the 101 Diner. Pulled right in and in my heels and dress for work sat right down at the counter with the group of hard working gentlemen I assume are there every single day at the same time :) They were a leetle surprised to see a lady such as myself joining them, esp. so early but nice and friendly! They discussed politics and tsunamis while the cook-who cooks up your order right there in front of you that early in the day-fried up an amount of bacon that would impress the Epic Meal guys! I perused the menu and found many a possibility. All the diner breakfast fare you could ever want! The cook directed my attention to the specials board and my decision was made right away-I had the shaved ham benedict with hash browns. The sauce was unbelievable ( they make it fresh everyday and run out so if theyve got it, order it!) and underneath the quality shaved ham was fresh avocado-and topped with perfectly poached eggs! It was quick, tasty, and reasonable. If your out and about at 6 am for any reason, stop in, you wont be disappointed!
(5)Clean Plate s.
My wife, frenchie and I have become regulars here but there's some very good reasons for that. We usually only go on the weekends for breakfast. Service is very good and the food is very good. I highly recommend the Acai Bowl for you healthy folks. All the specials are usually pretty good.
(4)Davene M.
Other than the wait sometimes cuz this place is SO POPULAR this place ROCKS. We live in AZ and everytime we are in the San Diego area we try to go eat bfast here b 4 we go home. Small, out of the way and BUSY but the food is great, service is phenomenal cuz all the wait staff is so great and all of them are so cute and friendly. Cant beat it for breakfast but b ready to WAIT to b seated if u show up on a weekend but definitely worth it.
(5)Waran V.
Super like !
(5)Katherine B.
This place is great local breakfast stop. Their food is fresh and tasty, and the portions are generous. The acai bowl is amazing... the thing could easily be confused as dessert for breakfast (but healthy)!
(5)Gudi R.
Another wonderful breakfast choice in downtown Encinitas. Indoor/outdoor seating, small, intimate. All omelettes and breakfast dishes are outstanding. They have seasonal specials. The best ever was carne asada eggs benedict - to die for! Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere. You feel like you're on vacation, even if you just have time for breakfast. Dogs welcome outside.
(4)Courtney M.
Nothing special. Good food, menu just like any other diner. Reminds me of a johnny rockets... french fries, burgers and grilled cheese recommended. The restaurant is small!
(3)Deb D.
My grand daughter and I were visiting my son and his wife who are the new owners of the bike shop right across the street - Ride Cyclery - and they took us to breakfast at the 101 Diner. It was so good! We sat out front ( but had to be careful where we put our chairs...something to do with the fire codes ). My grand daughter had the stuffed french toast that looked incredible. I opted for an old favorite corned beef hash and eggs over easy with rye toast. The hash seemed home made and was very good. They also offer a healthy breakfast with granola, fruit, and frozen acai if you don't want to feel your arteries snapping shut! Great place. Can't wait to go back and visit the kids and have another meal at the 101 Diner!
(5)Kristofor R.
After having breakfast at the 101 diner, I'm surprised at all of the high ratings. I ordered the CA Eggs Benedict with Bacon. They had forgotten the bacon. The eggs were overcooked and the yolks were hard. The potatoes were nothing great. I told the waitress that I didn't get bacon and she brought over a plate for me to dig out my eggs and put the bacon in. Honey's is right up the street from this place and is MUCH better for the same price...I won't be coming back to this place when there are better alternatives 10 feet up the street.

First off, this place is very vegetarian unfriendly. Pretty much nothing on the menu for breakfast with no egg in it. Got the California benedict, which had avacado and tomato and egg, obviously, and covered in hollandaise. It was quite good. I liked the potatoes that came with it also because they were crunchy. We also got the breakfast combo #1, which had 3 small sausages, scrambled eggs and 3 pancakes. The sausages and eggs were not so great, but the pancakes were so light and fluffy. The diner is located on the 101, amongst all the other small breakfast restaurants, but this place definitely gets its share of love from the public.
(3)Rose P.
It was a cool winter morning when we decided to try out the breakfast here. I am so glad we did. My boyfriend loves the Egg Benedict and I ordered a Sausage omelet which was awesome. The service is great and really fast. Will definitely be eating there again.

Love the home cook meal and the family feeling.

If you're in Encinitas this is a must for breakfast. Hands down one of the best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended!
(4)Justin T.
So I've only been here one time, but I've often thought about moving to Encinitas because of the 101 Diner. No, that's not true LOL, but the food is really good. My wife and I had the Eggs Benedict (which rocked) and this special-of-the-day Acai fruit bowl. Amazing. I'd recommend you try it, and if it weren't for the distance between us, I would be there much more often. The wait was a little long, but we could see why once we took our first bite. The servers and staff are really chill and laid back and give great recommendations if it's your first time also. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed.

I tried this place out thanks to our fellow Yelpers. Took a run on the coast with the girlfriend and stopped here afterwards. It was around 11:00am on a Monday so we had no problem getting a table outside. The place is quite small, but what in downtown Encinitas isn't? Located right next to El Q'ero which is also the bomb. I had the eggs benedict special(shaved ham with a jalapeno/cilantro hollandaise sauce) and the GF had a chili omelet and we ordered a side of corned beef hash. My Eggs Benedict was quite good and the GF raved about her omelet. The portions were quite big(the omelet was huge!). The corned beef hash was tasty, but it was a little on the mushy side...i like it crispier on the outside. We brought our dog with no problems(see review on Broken Yolk-Carlsbad). People at the outside tables were friendly, overall a great experience. The rest of the menu looked great also, i can't wait to try more of it. I think we found our Sunday regular stop off!!(sorry pizza port....i have met another!!) I"ll update my review if any other dishes are do not miss....

You can expect to get some things when you come here. 1) Breakfast that you can be proud to show off, but are more excited to eat , 2) A friendly staff that offers great recommendations and banter, 3) Lots of locals, a good sign as far as I'm concerned. The milkshake is tasty and comes with the classic side metal tin of the overflow. The sirloin steak salad is huge. I think there was a half a cow and a whole head of lettuce in the bowl. The corned beef hash was outstanding. Brunch for the two of us was about $25. Not bad for the steak salad, hash, milkshake, and a soda. We sat at the bar and didn't have a wait at all. But if you want to sit at a table, busy weekend mornings could lead to some extended waiting times.
(4)Lexi R.
Staff is always quick and friendly. I absolutely adore their Acai Bowl! It's by far my favorite Acai Bowl in San Diego and normally comes topped with lots of delicious, fresh fruit.
(5)Jonny J.
A nice little breakfast spot up from the beach on the main street in Encinitas. A friendly staff, a diner environment, accompanied by good food. The chorizo scramble with homemade salsa hit the spot. Quick service and a solid breakfast...I will be back!
(4)Bob K.
YES! A great breakfast place with enough outside seating that you can bring your dog (we did) and feel fine. Excellent ho-made corned beef hash (don't expect big chunks of corned beef but do expect expert seasoning and proportion with nice mix of other ingredients besides potato. The menu wasn't avante gard, but every item was well-thought-out and we could see, very-well executed....so plenty of choices for anyone. Coffee was very good (a must!). Service was top-notch friendly and efficient. Value is very good. This crew is hitting it out of the park and seems to be having a pretty good time doing it. Nice location, too. what more could you want for a nice weekend breakfast?
(4)Ricki U.
The Best breakfast place in town. Great Omlettes, eggs benadict, german baked apple pancakes, pancakes, french toast and I can go on and on. The food is fantastic and the waiting staff is unbelievable. Going to 101 is like the show "Cheers" Everybody knows your name. If you pass through our town make sure you visit 101 and see how us locals live, you'll be happy you did. Look for the owner Scott ,and tell him Ricki sent you.
(5)Deb B.
I've only been once, but that was enough to figure out this place is yuuuumy. it's a cute dinner with a family restaurant feel. I went for lunch and had a hot turkey sandwich with fries. lil greasy. not too expensive which was really good since i got a ticket on my way there. lol! server was personable and quick. definitely will go again... ... two thumbs up on the ranch dressing =)
(4)Jin d.
It's been a long time since I've been to the 101 Diner. I got finished with some work [Sunday!] and decided to get some breakfast by the coast for a change of pace. It was pretty packed at the time, but I was eating by myself [insert sad face]. So it was easy just to sit at the front counter area and not have to be on the waiting list. Parking can be somewhat of a pain, especially in the mornings. I forgot exactly what I had but it was definitely edible. I can't say it blew my mind, but it was definitely on the tasty side of good. I can't fault the 101 Diner the parking, but I'd probably head there a lot more often if it wasn't a serious PITA.
(4)Jennifer M.
Super wow! We stopped by for breakfast while vacationing in the area (based on yelp reviews) and it was super good. I had the shaved ham with eggs Benedict and jalapeno hollandaise sauce. It was plate licking good. I generally do not like eggs Benedict, but this was superb. The home fries or country potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just enough onions, Friendly staff, clean diner, definitely would love to come back if I'm ever in the area again.
(5)Michele J.
One of the best breakfast in town! They make a wonderful chicken machaca! But only a few times a month so call! You will love it!
(4)robert b.
I cant remember a breakfast food as good as the one I got at the 101 cafe this weekend! The carne asada eggs Benedict was so good! I have been raving about it to all who will listen.
(4)Nicole B.
Cozy diner with great food! Traditional greasy diner food, so if you're looking for comfort food this is the spot! Not sure if breakfast is served all day, but I went in at 1PM and it was still available. The Carne Asada Eggs Benedict were excellent and unique. Great casual spot for a quick bite!
(4)David G.
Friendly and accommodating wait staff. Very good for kids. Food was very quick and good quality.
(4)Scott P.
Don't expect Denny's when you come to this place. Everything is Ho-made! That's right! Just great tasting, wholesome ingredients to consistently please your palate with. I have been eating here for over 5 years and while partial to a few specific breakfast dishes, ie; the sumptuous California Benedict with Bacon, homefried potatoes and/or Blueberry Pancakes(watchout for the jumbo, yet steroid-free blueberries when in season which have amazing flavor), or spinach omellette, or even a Filet Mignon Benedict or Carne Asada Benedict when he's got them as a special, everything you find here is super tasty. I would pay a little more for my pancakes if Scott went to Maple Syrup. :D
(5)Barry S.
A step back in time, the 101 Diner is a 50's/60's experience. Plain ol' eggs, toast and taters don't taste quite so plain at the 101. I became a daily regular a few years ago. I order the same thing every time I go there - 4 scrambled eggs, rye toast, dry with cream cheese. Actually I don't order that meal, I just sit down and they know. There are many places in downtown Encinitas to eat breakfast. If you want a no risk, great breakfast then the Original 101 Diner is the place. They don't serve just normal fare. They have a menu and specials that rival the most eclectic breakfast restaurants. You'll not be sorry. On weekends there's a wait in the morning but it goes fast. Have a cup of jo while you're waiting.
(4)Rick K.
Nice to find a place that makes corn beef hash each day. If only they'd ease up on the Mexican spice, it would have been great. Service was very good as was most of the food. Decent sized portions. Coffee (regular and decaf) could have been better.
(4)Parker H.
The 101 Diner in a fun divey joint with a very much 50's diner style to it. Right when you walk in you realize it might be a little different. Dangling cardboard cut-outs of people like "Austin Powers" or "Betty Boop" on the ceiling, smoke from the grill filling the bar area. and it all seems a little scrambled but usually a server is able to find you a spot pretty fast. There are many assortments of items on the menu ranging from pancakes to "Bacon Spinich Mushroom Omelets." and the food is amazing if you take a bar seat, you can watch them cook it right there in front of you. Presentation however was a little sloppy but overall the food makes up for that. Prices are pretty good for what you get, a good place for kids and families Rating: 8/10 Delicious but may not quite be the best choice for everyone. Great varietys of great food on menu. Usually every city will have one or more diner like restaurants, I stand my ground when I say 101 Diner has well deserved best for Encinitas
(4)G J J.
This is your local greasy spoon diner if you live in Encinitas. Good fries here.
(4)Joshua C.
So bummed! We go here 2 to 3 times a month at least and have always loved it. Today's experience however was most definitely my last. Food was cold and orders were mixed up but that I could live with just once. However, when my wife finds 3/4 of an eggshell in her eggs benedict and the waitress says that the cook probably threw it on theire by accident when he was cracking egss...that is unacceptable. So apparently she wasn't at all concerned that raw egg was tossed into the meal my wife was eating? And then she doesn't even take take it off of our check! And then to top it all off she asks us to leave because she needs the table (we had been there foir exactly 55 minutes at that point and we were finishing our cups of coffee before we headed out). I normally rave about this place to people and always tell them to go here. I sent a review to Guy Fieri saying he should visit it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We had friends with us from LA and we took them here because it's our favorite breakfast spot in town. I was embarrassed for us and the restaurant. I will never, ever return to the 101 Diner again. It's a great spot but there's alot of other good places around town that won't treat us like we were treated today. Update: Below is the email I received from the owner (I'm assuming it's the owner?) after posting my review. My review was in no way "rage-fueled" and I didn't personally attack anyone in my review. I was simply relaying the experience I had and giving my opinion on it (I thought that was what yelp was for). Furthermore the server had already indicated to me that her manager was aware of the situation and did not choose to act upon it (so I am not going to go and grovel and ask for a free meal). I worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade and that is a situation I would think the manager would act upon automatically. This email pretty much solidifies that I was making the right decision by not returning to this restaurant but apparently the owner felt the need to tell me to stay away (which was my plan from the beginning). Thanks for making my choice that much easier. "Joshua, Sorry about your experience at the 101 Diner today. It's unfortunate that half an egg shell and a mindless server would cause you enough anguish to overlook numerous positive experiences and spew forth on yelp about how you will never, ever return to the 101 Diner. A more mature response may have been to talk to me about your experience. I would have been happy to compensate you for the Benedict and the unprofessionalism of the server. But it is easier to vent on the internet. I understand. No problem. However, as you have now proclaimed to the Yelp world that you have crossed the 101 Diner off of your list forever, please heed your rage-fueled musings and stay away. Thanks, Scott Smith

Place don't look like it serves the tasty food it do :) and boy is it tasty! Typical diner appeal, fresh well prepared ho' made style foods. Try the apple and german pancakes - Yum!! Ho' made chili - yum... Comes on top of a few things like my fave the chili omlette. Reuben - another big yummy check mark. Have yet to order something bad and I eat here often. The best joint to get breakfast on 101 in Encinitas... Sorry Honey's not even close. Go, eat, enjoy...
(5)shiela r.
This place has something for everyone! It has traditional, greasy-spoon-diner stuff, California-style egg dishes, wraps and sandwiches and a few healthful options like the acai energy bowl. I got that and it was great. HUGE. My husband got a couple of eggs, sausage and toast. GREAT coffee too! Staff is very freindly, food is good and they are quick, quick, quick! Perfect to grab and go or linger on a slow-moving vacation morning (like us).
(4)Al A.
We went out with friends who live out in Encinitas and they gush about this place. The wifey loves their Eggs Benedict. I love their large breakfasts. Thick sliced bacon, big, fluffy pancakes and great coffee. The seating is limited, try to get a booth. Decent parking on the streetfront but it can be hit and miss. Long lines on weekends but that's expected at a popular diner such as this. San Diego has big shortage of nice diners that serve great comfort food and breakfasts.
(5)Penny Lane S.
I love this area and stumbled into the 101 diner one day only to fall in love, specifically with the apple pancake thingamajig that is basically like a breakfast apple pie pancake. They would get 5 stars but they close too early and one day there was a fly problem. A cool local diner with good service and generally excellent food.
(4)Katee M.
We eat here for breakfast nearly every weekend -sometimes twice a week. It's everything a diner should be - good breakfast, no, great breakfast, kind of greasy, and really fast. They also have really yummy breakfast specials. My boyfriend does not like greasy breakfast but he still likes the 101 diner. He always finds something on the healthy side to have like the Acai Bowl. Breakfast is my favorite meal and this is my favorite breakfast joint.
(5)courtney p.
Without a doubt the best North County breakfast spot! I've had the SOB, Greek, and Spicy Louisiana Sausage omelets and all are terrific. My favorite dish is the California Benedict. My fiance and I come here frequently and have had Katie as our waitress several times. She's so helpful and sweet and despite the amount of people she serves in a day took the time to get to know us. It's that extra touch that makes 101 special.
(5)G G.
Great People can bring the pup... and need I say about the orgasmic benedict! I never even liked eggs benedict until I had these...I go and get my fix every week or so... btw did I say we drive up from north park. If it was crack I would snort it...eat up
(5)Julie G.
This is your typical diner complete with vintage signs that offer root-beer floats for 10 cents. They do a great breakfast and lunch in the greasy spoon style. Every time I have been there it's been very busy. On most occasions there is at least a 15 minute wait, but I've only been on the weekends for brunch. When I crave that cream-cheesed stuffed French toast this is my first choice. Tuna melt is scrumptious and they make a really great spinach salad believe it or not with homemade poppyseed dressing. Nice people, not terribly clean but fun nonetheless. Try to get the waiter that brings out the dinosaurs and then has dinosaur wars right at your table.
(5)Susan M.
Would have been 4 stars but had to take away a star for cleanliness. Let me say first off that the food and service were great and we have no issue with either. The problem was there were so many fruit flies!! All we did was wave them away from our plates and our faces the entire meal. not cool when you are taking an out-of-towner to what is supposed to be an incredible place. There were 4 flies roosting on the wall above our table, pockets of 3 or 4 above other tables, and there must have been about 5 more flying over our table. Again, the food was delicious and our server was very attentive but the place seemed a bit run down and dirty.

Do not waste your time! My husband is lactose intolerant and ordered his omelet with no cheese, as he always does. When the omelet arrived it was smothered in cheese. When he informed the waitress he ordered without cheese, she rolled her eyes and was reluctant to take it back because "the kitchen would be mad." When we finally convinced her to take it (so wrong), she came back 2 mins later with the same omelet and another plate and asked him to scrape the cheese off. When he said no and explained why she argued with him and said "you never said no cheese" which she clearly had forgotten to write down. She took the omelet away again and came back with her note pad proving to us she hadn't written down no cheese. We explained that he was allergic and she told us "her manager would be mad bc he didn't order it that way and the kitchen would have to waste ingredients to make him another one". She came back yet one more time and said "next time you need to order dairy free". By that time, she was so busy arguing with us and telling us we were wrong she still hadn't put in an order for a new omelet. What a joke- we just left. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I am giving this a big two thumbs down. There are SO many better breakfast places in the area, save your time and money- the customer service here is horrible.
(1)Jeff B.
Best breakfast potatoes in SD. Fun to sit at the counter and watch the owner/cooks in action. Turkey club was fantastic with super-crispy bacon... just the way I like it.
(4)Erin C.
My husband and I meet a friend for breakfast. Super easy to locate. we arrived quarter to 10AM on a Tuesday morning to find plenty of outside sitting area. We ended up sitting in indoor because it was a tad cold at the time. We were greeted by a young gentlemen offering us beverages. I wanted hot tea and was brought a bowl of teas bags to chose from, which was nice. My husband and our friend chose the 1/2 order of Eggs Benedict of any choice (i.e. original or carne asada) and a small Acai bowl. I on the other hand ordered their Homemade Corn Beef hash. The food came out quick. Presentation was average. The benedicts were awesome. The egg was poached perfectly and the ham was very flavorful. My corn beef has was good, though I have had better. The Acai bowl was delicious, more of a sorbet texture. The service was on point. I would come again :)
(4)Jennifer S.
This is my favorite breakfast place in Encinitas! I've been on the hunt for the best Egg's Benedict in San Diego, and so far this place is the top of my list. I have never been disappointed with any of the food I've had here, the service is always fabulous and it's in a great area.
(5)Andrea C.
We chose the 101 Diner out of a few diner choices on this main drag in Encinitas, CA. It was homey, the food was good, and the service was nice. The prices were reasonable with just a hint of the "health, beach nut" vibe that is Encinitas. Watch our full review here: youtube.com/watch?v=KEe4…
(4)Judi B.
When I want savory it the Louisiana Sausage Benedict!. Great flavor and they'll even serve you half an order. Hey half an order is way better than never having this bit of heaven.
(4)Lisa V.
I love this place. They have the best lunches at unbelievable prices. I would come here everyday if I could but they close at 2pm on weekends so it doesn't always work out... I've only eaten outdoors and it's very nice to sit outside. They have the best tuna salads and sandwiches I've ever had. Very healthy and fresh and the salad is great too. You can also bring your dog if you're going to sit outside. Best lunch in San Diego!
(5)Daniel W.
Oh YUM. What else can I say? I had the Diner Combo with the three pancakes, three 'meat' (I got bacon), and three eggs. The pancakes I ordered were the pineapple cononut ones and oh man they were delicious. The 'syrup' that came with those pancakes is a sort of coconut sugar syrup more than an actual maple syrup which was good, but I'd probably ask for a side of regular syrup next time. We also got a side of potatoes which were great as well with a little bit of crunch on some. I couldn't finish all of the food, but ooh I tried. I'm moving away from Encinitas soon but I'd drive up here once in a while on a weekend for breakfast.
(5)Brenda B.
My hubby, son and I dined here about 1:30 on a beautiful spring day yesterday. Elements of everyone's meal were very good, but I would be inclined to check out some of the other eateries in the neighborhood before declaring this the Best Place To Eat on S. Coast Highway. Of course, other tables' orders looked awesome, like this baked apple pancake thing- isn't that always the way? I had a chili omelette, with nice fluffy, tender eggs, but what tasted like Hormel canned chili on top. The fried potatoes were DEElicious. My wheat toast was very meh. My son had a jalapeno and turkey grilled sandwich on sourdough, and he ranked it one of the best sammies (although he would never actually use that word) he ever tasted. My hubby had a chili size burger and fries and said it was very good. The service was super friendly and we were checked up on often. So yes, it was overall a very good experience. The service pushed it from a 3.5 to a 4. Good but not great, and sometimes that's enough.
(4)Lauren B.
I can't review the food as we didn't stay- the hostess was very unfriendly, the waitresses took their sweet time, and the dogs!! People eating at the tables outside had dogs that weren't restrained. I saw one dog put its face in someones lap while she was eating... it wasn't her dog! If you're gonna bring a dog, keep it restrained... better yet, don't bring a dog- its a restaurant!! Unfortunately, I won't be going back anytime soon
(1)Blane A.
The 101 Diner is a great experience! w/tables outside right on Pacific Coast Highway. I took a group of seven there yesterday morning and the experience was fantastic. Perfect OJ, perfect eggs & tasty bacon, but, the carne asada omelet is ridiculous it's so good. The oatmeal came with several great sides and I've enjoyed their acai & fruit breakfast on a previous visit. The waitresses we've had have been great, never waited for anything (cute too). Love watching the cars and people go by as you dine. I can't wait to go back. This place makes your day!
(5)Ray N.
I love corned beef hash and when the menu said they made their own I was excited. It was the BEST I have ever had! We also had banana-strawberry crepes which were great. Would definitely go back. We ate at the sidewalk tables and enjoyed it. Hot chocolate was good too.
(5)Marty S.
I love this place! The service is great and the burgers are the best in town! Marty
(5)Jeff G.
Never disappointed here! Scott! You and the staff rock!
(5)Robert B.
Had the BBQ Cheddar turkey burger with coleslaw & fries. The burger was tasty...but the fries were soggy & cold, & the slaw was nothing special. And I know it's not their fault...but there were flies everywhere...enough that it really made it hard to enjoy the meal.
(2)Erin T.
I decided to give 101 Diner a try despite what some current disappointed reviewers have posted. I crossed my fingers for a great breakfast along with some Encinitas sunshine. Thanks to good old faithful San Diego, I got my sun. However the great breakfast was far to be had. I ordered the California eggs benedict with a freshly squeezed OJ. I'm not sure if it's because I'm from Canada and we expect our eggs benedict to be soft poached with a buttery lemon hollandaise sauce. Well my one egg came hard as ever and the other was not even an egg. It seemed as though the egg broke in the pot as it was beginning to cook and what I got on my plate was the leftovers of what was left of that egg water. I ordered the fruit bowl instead of the potatoes and I received some cut up papaya mixed with canned fruit cocktail. I go to restaurants to eat food that I can't make at home, this mess I could have done all by myself.
(2)Analiza J.
drove out here after a noc shift at work from carmel mtn.. and i'd do it again! had breakfast with friends and ordered the california benedict.= muffin. perfectly poached egg. avocado. bacon. hollandaise sauce. probably one of the best benedicts ive ever had! 101 diner ftw.
(5)Sharon-Kate S.
One of the all time best breakfast places around (and I'm not just talking in SD)--the perpetually crowded status proves it. We adore this place. The food is excellent--yes, esp. the benedict (eh, you can always run it off at the beach later), and the service fast and friendly. They stay on top of keeping your coffee filled and when you're eating outside with your dogs, they even provide water bowls for your babies--without you even having to ask. Simply can't be beat.
(5)Rachael M.
Good old fashion diner. Greasy, but good food.
(4)maggie p.
me and my boyfriend eat her twice a week, the service is great, they are very accommodating. the food is so good, best french toast in town and you can't miss the eggs Benedict with cilantro hollindase mmmmmmmmm. the server are very nice relaxed atmosphere, they know your face your order and super friendly. look can be deceiving its not super dolled up but you will kick yourself for missing the potatoes.
(5)S R.
I used to go to the 101 diner.....not any more..went there this weekend.....my eggs benedict was nasty....it was lumpy and cold.It took 15 minutes for the waitress to get me a glass of water......I never complain, I just don't go back....Naked cafe, here i come!
(1)Jon W.
My family and I go here all of the time. It has a wait on the weekends for breakfast, but it's well worth it. Also, give it try for lunch. It's just outstanding all the way around.
(4)Rick K.
Great diner food! Old fashioned milkshakes, hand-formed burgers, amazing eggs benedict. This was an awesome lunch. I'm looking forward to the next day trip to Encinitas because I know where I'm going.
(5)Margaret L.
Had a pretty standard breakfast: two eggs (over hard - my favorite!), potatoes, and toast . . . not sure what they did to make those potatoes so scrum-didily-umptious but dang they were delish!! I love the quaint mom-n-pop feel of this place . . . the mix matched coffee cups (I got the Kiwanis Club of Sun Valley cup) and 50s style "art" on the wall. I'll definitely come back again.
(4)Brenna J.
The 101 Diner is everything a diner is supposed to be, right down to the lunch counter with a full view of the kitchen. The people are friendly, the surrounding neighborhood is attractive, and the price is right. My favorites include the Blueberry Banana pancakes (with turkey sausage), the Monte Cristo which I usually get with a side of Chili instead of fries, and let's talk about the Chili: very satisfying, not too spicy, the texture is nice and the flavor speaks of something that's home made. Their rotating line up of Benedicts are also something to try, especially the carne asada benedict with spicey hollandaise.
(5)H K.
i'm definitely a fan, but last time i was in, we were seated in the back near the bathrooms and notice a lot of flies just hanging out on the walls. not sure if the walls just need to be cleaned or what, but i don't see flies in my other favorite restaurants
(4)Jesse F.
I love this place! Service, food, and location are all amazing!
(5)KURT M.
love coming here for eggs benedict. they have a wide variety of Benedict options. very good, fairly priced.
(4)adam c.
Great banana-berry pancakes and an awesome SOB omelet. With lots of choices for breakfast in Encinitas you cannot go wring with the 101 Diner.
(5)Sage D.
101 Diner rocks my morning world. The wait can be long if you don't get there early on weekends, but the fruit crepes and stuffed French toast are perfect and worth the wait!! And oh wait.... THE ACAI BOWL. Lots of acai, lots of FRESH fruit, granola... it is INCREDIBLE. The servings are very generous, regardless of what you order. Waitstaff are fast and friendly, food is delicious, prices are very good. Fun, cozy neighborhood diner.
(5)Ilene A.
Simply the best breakfast in town. You can ALWAYS count on a great breakfast at the 101 Diner. The staff are friendly, the prices are modest, the outdoor tables are pet friendly. They are also kid friendly and offer some great plates for the local surfers to load up on. The food is always fresh and always good. The standard menu is full of yummy choices if by some freak chance there isn't something on the specials board to delight you. They make fresh hollandaise sauce every day and the eggs benedict should not be missed. It is bar none, the nest I have ever had, including high end New Orleans restaurants. Along with the original, they offer a special Benedict every weekend. My personal favorite is the Blue Crab Benedict while my husband loves the Carne Asada Benedict. Enjoy with a glass of fresh squeezed juice. Pancakes and special omeletes are always great. Also notable are the German Baked Apple Pancakes and the Fruit Crepes. Yes, you will likely have to wait for a table on the weekend but the staff hustles and the wait is never long. After your first visit, you'll become a regular at this place that never disappoints. This is by far, the best breakfast in all of San Diego. And yes, the accept credit cards.
(5)Michelle H.
I really don't want to admit how many times I have been here since writing the last review...but that's a moot point anyway because EVERY time it's been just as amazing. I laugh every time I see a new swanky restaurant that serves brunch come into Encinitas, they just can't touch this place!!! I was there on Sunday and it was bloody hot out and the acai bowl instantly teleported me to heaven. my dad and I shared that and the special benedict which was a carnitas benedict, which was unreal. I cannot imagine a better breakfast and the service is always impeccable. Several of the servers have been there for at least 15 years and they are just as friendly and efficient as they were then. Needless to say, my dad goes there for breakfast every day when he comes to visit. In fact, he told me during his 500 mile drive every time he looked down at his odometer he was thinking he was that many miles closer to his acai bowl....hahahahaha

Just ate here and it was yummy! I had the "ho made" hash and my girl had the baked apple pancake. Both were exceptional. Would def come back. Servers were very friendly.
(4)Angela C.
I have been eating at 101 since I was a little kid. The servers are great and the food is equally as amazing. Everyday they have new delicious breakfast and lunch specials. My favorite for breakfast are the eggs benedict and fruit crepes. For lunch I always order the Mushroom Swiss burger. It is classic american diner food, but the quality is soo good. 101 is my favorite breakfast/lunch stop in Encinitas!
(5)valerie m.
Just the perfect local spot for breakfast. We have been coming here for many years. When my now 9.5 yr old was an infant, we'd wedge his car seat in on a barstool and ate at the counter. They were beyond kind when i was pregnant and it was our go to breakfast spot. We'd drive from del mar every weekend. The food is fantastic, omelets fluffy. Creative combos of Benedicts. Great sauces, biscuits and gravy. Im a fan of their scrambles. Fresh oj. Seating out front. Nostalgic. . Great service is an added plus!
(5)Borneo G.
Yummy! My boyfriend and I went here last weekend because we didn't feel like cooking and we got up too late to go to any of the local eateries. We came here because most of the people on yelp liked this place and we decided to give it a shot. This place is small and it's definitely packed (especially since we came there on Sunday morning at around 9:15). Because we were hungry, we decided to eat at their back patio instead of waiting for an indoor booth. I ordered their Louisiana scramble and he got their corned beef hash. Although we had to wait a while until someone took our order, our food came in less than 10 minutes. Yay! We both loved our food! And the best part was that the portions weren't super huge. Pricing is decent and our waitress was great! This is definitely one that we will come back to again. :D
(4)samantha m.
The best breakfast in the area. I always have the half Order of Eggs Benedict /Acai bowl. Their Hollandaise sauce is the best I've ever had. The service is wonderful. All the servers are great. Just love this place. Always order breakfast, don't bother with the lunch menu.
(5)Craig B.
The way a diner should be. Great staff, good food, reasonable prices and a throwback vibe. Love it.
(5)Lyndsey C.
Our service was quick, and our waitress was extremely friendly (middle height, brown hair, blue eyes). Our food was cooked well and we got exactly what we paid for.
(5)Sean D.
Cardiff Crack Bennie! (Limited availability special and Locals Only :P) Chicken & Waffles. Juicy not greasy. Seasoned light and simple. Savory and sweet.
(5)William S.
I ordered the Cardiff Crack Benedict. By far the best Benedict I've ever eaten. It comes served with a jalapeño-cilantro hollandaise. Spicy but not to hot to eat. The head cook, whom I assume is the owner, greeted me as soon as I sat down. He juggles cooking, serving, and communicating with his waitresses very efficiently. The best food I've had in Encinitas by far!!!!!
(5)Mike C.
Great diner food and super friendly staff. The seats are totally worn out as I felt a spring try to tear through, the bussers are cleaning tables with dirty rags leaving a sticky film of this mornings syrup on everything and this fly won't leave us alone. The prep station is on the edge of physical collapse or a bacteria outbreak which made me wonder if these buss boys on summer break wash their hands between bussing tables and putting their hands in clean cups. I didn't feel safe eating my food as the dozen nats on the wall were eyeing me so hard I thought I'd have to mace them.
(3)Inga G.
This is my favorite breakfast spot in north county!! The vibe is awesome, very laid back and comfortable. It seems like everyone who works there is one big family. One of the servers even carried around her 10 month old as she worked, so cute! Not only is it a fun place to be but the food is delicious. We sat at the counter today because (as usual) there was a wait for a table. They have some seating out front, inside at booths or a breakfast bar, and out back on a patio. We had Sabrina as our server who is always very friendly and attentive! The orange juice is always fresh and delicious so of course I had one of those.. then I ordered my all-time favorite, shaved ham eggs benedict... with jalepeno/cilantro in the hollandaise sauce, and crispy potatoes on the side. My other half ordered his favorite, the chorizo scramble and tortillas. We ALSO ordered an acai bowl to split, AND an apple pancake for dessert.... however this isn't for the faint of heart... we eat a lot. Everything was great as always, and the weather today made it all the better.... 75° in January... can't get any better!
(5)Eve V.
Everything was delicious! We went twice. First visit, I got the eggs Benedict California style. Also tried the banana blueberry pancakes. Yummy. The banana nut pancakes were my favorite! Carnitas eggs Benedict delicious as well. Our service was better the first time, but still a great experience both times. Definitely try you won't be disappointed.
(5)Gregory D.
Awesome food Awesome service I had the eggs Benedict and my friend had chili verde scramble.
(5)Jane V.
I really enjoy breakfast at the 101 Diner. I've been here several times when we use to live in SD and am so surprise I never wrote a review. The most recent visit was today because we had to drop off my dad at the airport and since we were in SD we stopped by. I am a morning bird so I love the fact that they are opened at 630 am. Our visit today did not disappoint. I always go with whatever Eggs Benedict they have on special. Today I tried the crab cakes benedict. Oh mah gosh...it was delish. The crab cakes was more crabs than bread which is rare to find nowadays and they are known for their yummy hollandaise sauce which I made sure that none was left behind on the plate. The only thing that stinks about the diner (and please do not let these cons deter you from trying the place) is the parking and crowds. If you come during the breakfast/brunch rush just be prepare to wait and like most beach towns parking is scare but not impossible.
(5)sandra m.
The food was amazing. I had a Carnitas Benedict with chipotle hollandaise that was super good. Waitress also was very efficient. :)
(5)Alex G.
Great spot in Encinitas. The food was great, the service was outstanding. The menu was rich. You can even have the tri tip from the Cardiff market, which is well regarded. I had a burger and it was served with homemade fries. I'll go again just to explore the menu.
(5)Steve G.
Chicken machaca omelet and blueberry-banana pancakes made for a great start to the day for us. Hard working staff too!
(5)Lida T.
I absolutely LOVE this diner!! Open for breakfast and lunch. I stop here every chance I get. THE BEST home-fried potatoes I have ever had! The portions are fantastic for the price, too! Perfect dish every time! Good coffee too! If you can sit at the counter, that's better than at a table, because the ladies to do the waitressing usually aren't on point, but the guys that work the counter are amazing! The service is always speedy, my coffee is always full, and they get me whatever I need when I need it! Also, the owner is a handsome devil.
(5)Christina H.
I've been coming here for years and I absolutely love it! Anytime we are in town we have to go to the 101. The potatoes are to die for and so is the apple pancake. Definitely my favorite breakfast place!
(5)Gemi B.
Sat at the bar. We had a California burger and biscuits and gravy. Our food was great and the service was so friendly, especially since we were waited on by the cooks, not official servers. He grilled my onions for me with a smile. =) . Loved it!
(4)David M.
Wonderful diner food. Hot spot on Saturday morning. Eggs Benedict with Louisiana Sausage was my choice!
(5)Thomas N.
Always great on Sunday morns the only time I have gone and I always sit at the counter but service with a smile. Homey and friendly. Lots of regulars. Worth every cent. Good food
(5)Joanne B.
We love going to 101 Diner for brekky whenever we're in the area running errands. Whenever there's a street fair on the 101, we make it a point to leave the house early to: 1) get a good parking spot in the surrounding neighborhood and 2) eat a nice breakfast at 101 Diner to fuel up for our stroll. We were here on Sunday morning to do just that. Fortunately, we got there as the one free table out front became available. They have a list of daily specials written on the chalkboard out front and we always get the same thing whenever we see it on the board, the filet mignon benedict and the chorizo scramble. The food is good, it serves its purpose in satisfying out hunger pangs and giving us energy to burn off as we check out the 400+ vendor booths at the street fair set up right out front. I guess they're known for their Hollandaise sauce. I ordered it on the side, but somehow it ended up poured all over my eggs, steak and English muffin. Oh well, it wasn't too much sauce, so I didn't say anything. This diner isn't that big, so if you go during peak time, put your name on the list and read the paper as you wait your turn. Their staff is super friendly and always makes sure your coffee is topped off, big plus for that. If you're in the mood for decent grub on the 101, hit up 101 Diner for breakfast. The food and the charm of this place will have us return for more.
(4)Kirk N.
Love this place. So comfortable... Its an extension of our home. Everything is good.. Take a look at the specials board. Acai bowls are the best we have found from oceanside to del mar...bar none.
(4)Carlene R.
Personally, I think this place is okay. I got their stuffed french toast and acai smoothie. I felt like their stuffed french toast was lacking a sweet substance like fruit or Nutella. It was stuffed with only cream cheese and sprinkled with walnuts and powdered sugar. Their acai smoothie was pretty good. They blend it with either milk or apple juice and a banana. I chose milk because it had more nutritional value. I felt customer service was rushed because five minutes after I received my french toast the waitress gave my husband and I the bill. It is really hard to tell who works there because no one wears a uniform. I can tell the place is very chill and relax. I'm not sure if I would personally go back, but if someone invited me I would.
(3)Nick P.
I could have easily given this family owned restaurant 5 stars. Food was great, real good. The service was GREAT. I love great service. I'm Mexicano and the business is owned I presumed by Caucasians, these folks were so welcoming and warm hearted. I still have faith in humanity. Thank you 101 cafe.
(4)William M.
What a great way to start the day! Had the carnitas Benedict and it was awesome. My brother had the skate special with banana nut pancakes and bacon. Up there with the best he's ever had. Also adorable waitress and great service. We'll be back!
(5)Mack A.
Popular little hole in the wall diner along coast highway... We got there around noon for a late brunch and it was still busy, but we easily found a table. Our server was SO friendly and seemed to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but still managed to make recommendations and stay attentive. Both of us ordered some version of the eggs Benedict with potatoes. I had the traditional.. Yummy!! The ham wasn't one of those frozen patty things.. It was actual thinly sliced deli ham and there was a ton of it. He had the California Benedict (avo, tomato and added bacon) and he had no complaints! Looked really good. Hollandaise sauce was creamy but not too rich and we left extremely full and happy! :)
(5)cindy i.
My favorite breakfast spot in town! I especially love the California omelet...service is great, food is great. I always leave happy and full!
(5)Austin D.
Great spot for a local feel. Excellent menu with a range of selections. I had breakfast before flying home to Philadelphia. Coffee was typical dinner brew, weak and not very helpful. My business associate is there regularly and claims the owner/cook is very consistent. I will go back.
(4)Kimberly B.
Everything other yelpers have said positively is true. Great food, fast table turnover despite their popularity but they don't rush you, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and food delivered fast. We will def be back!
(5)Josh H.
Excellent food in a fun beach diner setting. The staff is friendly and there's just something fun about sitting at an old school diner counter while the chef "slings the hash". Highly recommended!
(5)Rob F.
Best crepes ever. The service was amazing and while the line may look long, we were sat down very quickly. All the food my group ordered was amazing and the waitress had a great, funny personality. I would recommend getting the fruit crepes or the acai bowl (best thing ever).
(5)Andrea W.
Small dive on the main drag that is pretty popular. Be prepared to wait if you don't come here early. The service was great and our waitress suggested getting the eggs benedict special, which was totally worth it. Their specials change, but the time I ordered it had bacon, avocado, some awesome eggs benedict, and a side of potatoes. So good! Worth the wait and the couple extra bucks. Good coffee, too. There's indoor and outdoor seating with some good people watching. If you're debating about where to go for breakfast/brunch, come here!
(4)Brandon K.
First off the staff was friendly and eager to please us, the environment has a nice at home dinner feel. Now the food, was astounding. Eggs were cooked to perfection, hashbrowns perfectly crisp and when avocado was added, there wasn't the usual 2 slices on top, they sliced and gave you a whole avacado. I would highly recommend you stop in to try this place
(5)Katherine C.
The very best breakfast place around! You absolutely have to try an apple pancake. It will change your life. My brother and dad say that the omelettes are the best they've ever had. It's sort of small and gets very busy on weekends but it's totally worth it!
(5)Abhishek Y.
Some of the best breakfast food that I've had the pleasure of having. As if being in town for a weekend get-together wasn't awesome enough (while over a foot of snow was falling in Philadelphia), we had the pleasure of stopping by here to grab a nice brunch before setting up for the party. The eggs benedict with avocado and maple bacon was absolutely phenomenal, with clearly fresh and well-sourced ingredients, and the hash was amazing as well. The outdoor seating area is absolutely fantastic and a great way to enjoy the nice small-town atmosphere in the area, and the service is absolutely fantastic. A definite MUST-VISIT if in the area!
(5)Dave B.
This place rocks. Great service and the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. Will be back every visit to this area
(5)Heather P.
So, so good. Why didn't we find this place sooner? Fantastic, well seasoned food ... Excellent recipes. Not your run of the mill breakfast spot. We had 2 things from their specials board: carne asada eggs Benedict, chorizo scramble. The food was so good! Each bite was a perfect bite. Didn't want it to end. Super staff! 2 things keeping it from 5 stars - parking can be tough and dining room is run down.
(4)Lainey S.
Great food and great prices! Came in for breakfast yesterday (New Years Day) around 11 AM. The wait wasn't long, I think we waited a total of 15 minutes max. The place is small and cozy. There's about 6 booths inside, some counter space and a few tables out back They had a great list of specials up, but I went with the corned beef hash. My boyfriend ordered the Shaved Ham Eggs Benedict which was one of the specials. And we split the mini size of the acai bowl. The acai bowl was awesome! It didn't come in a smoothie like texture like most places serve it, it came as a sorbet. It was loaded with tons of gresh fruit: mangoes, kiwi, blueberries, and bananas and REALLY good granola and topped with coconut. SOOOO GOOD! The corned beef hash was a little too salty for me, but the hash browns were awesome! The portions were great, and the service was fast. Next time I visit, I'm hoping to try one of their eggs benedict specials. I'll definitely be getting the acai bowl again, it was sooooo yummy! he
(5)Tony M.
Grate place to have a good breakfast. I brought my family to Legoland in Carlsbad. Found this place on yelp. I had the banana walnut pancakes. My wife hade the French toast. Great service. You will have to wait if you bring a large group. We wait almost an hour but was worth it.
(5)Amanda M.
Limited hours are always a disappointment because you can hardly get a table here for lunch before they close. The staff is nice but so busy they don't really check up on you. Food is great, can't go wrong wth diner food.
(3)Peejay T.
I love breakfast and it takes a lot for a diner to impress me... I had the "ho-made" hash and it was really tasty! The better half had a 3 egg omelette, not exactly sure which one, but I had a bite and that was tasty too! I guess you can't really go wrong with any item you order here! Next time I gotta try the Acai Energy Bowl! When we arrived, I would say there was about 10 groups of 2 in front of us, but somehow 101 Diner was able to get through the list in about 20 minutes. So if you see a lot of people waiting outside, I would not let that deter you from trying this place. I'm impressed, will definitely keep this bookmarked for when we come back to town!
(4)Kandace S.
This place has excellent breakfast! We stopped in by chance and it turning out being so yummy! I have the half eggs Benedict's and half crepes and it was so good! I was very impressed and i will be coming back!
(5)Steve K.
Had some great eggs, bacon, and pancakes here. Asked for bacon crispy, and it was! Some places won't do that even though you ask. Our server was Inga, she was awesome! Super nice and attentive without being overly so. Very nice place right on PCH, outdoor seating which I dig.
(5)Brianna I.
Shared the Greek omelette and the strawberry bananas crepes with their homemade coconut syrup - both entrees were DELICIOUS and the service was great!!! A must try for the breakfast lovers!
(5)Lee P.
I had this place bookmarked after seeing it as a featured review. I figured the 4th of July would be a good morning to get up early and drive all the way out to the coast and try it while beating the crowd and not burning a whole day in the process. The night before, I checked Yelp and saw all this new review drama between some parties and the owner. There were subtle clues that these posters were either bogus or the same person and that peaked my curiosity as well as my trepidation. I really didn't want a 60 mile round trip from east county to be a waste of time and gas. Luckily, 101 was open on the 4th (I called first). And upon arrival, I knew the overwhelming number of outstanding reviews were all spot on. The diner was busy at 8:45am, but not packed. People were seated at the counter, out front, inside and out back. We sat inside since there were no available seats out front. The counter was full too. The indoor booths were 3/4 occupied as well. Everyone is cordially greeted upon entry and for the locals, it's tantamount to a homecoming celebration. There was no yelling, the owner was holding court at the grill behind the counter and having polite conversation with those diners as he worked his magic. The smell was of fresh cooking food and really got my appetite going. It was not the smell of grease or fry oil. The service was prompt; within seconds of sitting down here comes my coffee and fresh squeezed OJ. Yes, it was truly fresh squeezed and had no traces of the bitterness of rind or sourness from the wrong variety/immature oranges. The Benedict of the day was shaved ham with a jalapeño-cilantro hollandaise sauce. I learned that the much acclaimed maple-avo-bacon bennie was only one of about 6 different bennies that they have in rotation, so if that's what you're jonsing for, call and confirm availability for that day first. I went for the ham bennie based upon the advice of the charming young lady who was serving us. Breakfast was served in less than 10 minutes, despite the fact that the place was pretty much full. All was freshly prepared and piping hot, dispelling a concern I had from seeing some other reviews. Quality was absolutely top shelf and first rate. I was wondering how the jalapeño would be combined with the delicate hollandaise. The answer is: quite well. Just a touch of taste, no heat to overpower the richness of the classic sauce. The hollandaise is homemade and one could taste it. I could taste both the lemon and yolks, no starch or gums. This was a really great breakfast and full breakfast for two was about $25. Not a bad deal for touristy Encinitas and a full dining experience, despite my reading that one had to order at the counter. We were well fed and because the initial process of ordering and prep was so prompt, at a leisurely eating pace, we were all done and ready to roll in about 30 minutes, but no rush. Perfect! I'll definitely be back for more. Still wanting the elusive maple-avo-bacon bennie!
(4)William O.
One of best breakfasts I've had anywhere! Pilot and get to travel all over the world, this place has one of the best! Had Steak eggs Benedict, think it's referred to as Cardiff crack, was unbelievable. Going back tomorrow for more!! Everything from steak, the way they poached the eggs, the jalapeño Sauce!, the potatoes, wow! Fast friendly service even the bus boy. Highly recommended.
(5)J B.
Found this place on Yelp on our drive up the coast. This cute hole in the wall cafe had some of the breakfast my food my family has experienced. We will definitely try to fit this place in whenever we're passing through.
(5)Suzanne H.
This was easily one of the tastiest breakfasts I have ever had the joy of consuming. What a perfect place to start one of my best Independence Days in years! My friend and I arrived around 9am and there was a long wait. He, being a local assured me 101 was well worth the wait. He was so right - I had the chorizo scramble and he had crab cakes eggs Benedict. CRAB CAKES EGGS BENEDICT! That says it all right there! Both our meals were so delish that we ended up pushing both plates in the middle and eating off of each other's the whole time. The food was savory and filling enough that it fueled us for a nice, long bike ride before hitting the beach. I wish I was closer to Encinitas so I could have breakfast here every weekend!
(5)Eric R.
Food excellent. Service is great. My new favorite place for breakfast. It has been a fun time each visit. The servers are great and take time to get to know you. I have been looking for a new regular spot since I moved to encinitas and I have found it. You can sit outside inside or at the bar and watch them cook. Great time with just the wife and the whole family.
(5)Carlos G.
Seriously amazing. Hawaiian pancakes with coconut syrup, if you haven't tried it your life is lacking.
(4)Veronica E.
Eggs Benni and Acai are my 2 breakfast faves and i normally have a hard time choosing sweet over savory when it comes to breakfast, but at 101 Diner you can order a half order of both! O M G. FOOD: I got the half order of the Benedict special, carne asada with cilantro hollandaise, and half order of acai which is their "mini" size. both were awesome! I normally dont like thicker acai but because it was a warm morning on the coast and the fixings were awesome- hemp granola (love) and fresh blueberries/mango/kiwi/strawberries/banana. PRICE: the price was standard for a brunch joint, around $7-10 AMBIANCE: probably the only downside if you have a large party. pretty small and typical diner place. we had 7 of us and had to sit on the patio. good thing the rain stopped that morning and it ended up being pretty warm. SERVICE: We had Dylan, and she was great! very personable and knowledgeable.
(4)Sarah S.
It doesn't get much better than this! Encinitas is by far one of my favorite towns in San Diego and 101 Diner is nestled right on Coast Hwy in the bustling downtown part of the city. After a relaxing anniversary weekend in Coronado, my husband and I were cruising home down the coast and decided to make a pit stop at 101 Diner for brunch. It was around 11 am and the place was extremely busy, with lots of hungry diners waiting for their turn to be seated. We didn't have to wait too long but couldn't have complained anyway since it was a beautiful sunny day. We put in our drink orders right away and ordered our food when the drinks arrived - the California eggs benedict with bacon for me and a small acai bowl with a side of corned beef hash for him (see photos... yum!). Our food arrived quickly and it was soooo delicious. Without me having to ask, the bacon on my benedict was crispy, the avocado was fresh and the tomatoes weren't soggy at all. My husband's "small" acai bowl was pretty huge, and the corned beef hash was flavored with all sorts of herbs... not something I would usually order myself but now I'll think twice! Stop in to the 101 Diner the next time you're in Encinitas, you won't regret it!
(5)Andre R.
Wow! What a great spot. It was raining today and it seemed a lil packed inside. Wrote my name down and was immediately sat front row of where all the action takes place. The cook and waiter work hand in hand. I even saw the waiter cracking eggs and getting stuff prepped. Ordered, then I blinked and boom, my food was right in front of me! There was a lot of communication going and very fast service! As for the food I had the spicy chicken Machaca Omelette (hold the sour cream) Omg! It was mouth watering. Avocado, homemade red salsa on top. As for the inside the chicken was juicy as can be made w green chile and melted jack cheese! Added a side of fruit and a coffee and wah-la! Heaven! If your ever in Encinitas this is a just try. Everything that was being made and ordered by other patrons looks BOMB!
(5)Charlene C.
Awesome little diner!! Yelp led us to the place across the street but the delicious food smell and atmosphere brought us over here. I had the crab cake Benedict and acai bowl combo (yes!! They will do different combinations like a Benedict and pancakes etc. too!) That was $8.50, which is a great price for the amount of food and quality I got. My boyfriend got the regular Benedict with bacon and avocado. That came with a side of your choice - he got hashed Brown's. We've hit up the cottage, broken yoke, the mission, and many other breakfast joints....let me tell you, this place comes out on top! Dog friendly seating outside too. I live by ucsd but will not even hesitate to drive out to Encinitas to get breakfast here :) enjoy!
(5)Evan G.
Came once. Had the Louisiana style eggs benedict. Really good. Would have gone there again and again had it not been so far from where I was staying.
(4)Bob V.
Scott is the owner and is the best! I eat there 4-5 times a week for breakfast and lunch and the food is amazing. Scott has the best staff in town and the vibe is really friendly.
(5)Scott B.
This is a smalll hole-in-the-wall diner found in a strip center right off Hwy 101. Small place though. We got a table outside the front of the store in 3 minutes. The German Apple pancake (more like a baked apple crisp pastry) was greatness. I think I liked it better than my Crab cake eggs benedict (they didn't have any of the Jalepeno choipotle hollandaise sadly) which was great. Would have given it 5 stars but it took forever to get our food, and the service was spotty at best. I'd try it again since the menu looked good and prices were reasonable.
(4)Georgia W.
This is my favorite place to go for breakfast, the food is great and the prices are reasonable. The staff is always friendly. I love to sit outside, a very enjoyable place!
(4)Chris L.
All I can say is homemade, shredded corn beef hash, very few places in the country can make this dish correctly! So good I left a $20 tip, I never do that.
(5)Glenn B.
OK...So I have Diner Envy. I live 2 solid hours' drive away from 101 Diner, so I might not be back often, but I sure WOULD come back. In fact, I'd be a regular, if I could. WHY? The decor was fine for a diner, but dat ain't it. The food was solid...great diner food...but dat ain't it. Fast, reliable service? Yup...but dat ain't it. Nope. The reason I'd be back is because of the people. (Not the people sitting in the booths, silly. The staff.) I walked in cold...complete stranger, yet the lady who took my order treated me like I was a 3-5 x's a week REGULAR. Am I a nice guy? Sure. Maybe a little on the quiet side when storming someone else's home turf, but still a decent guy with a warm smile. I wasn't treated like a decent guy with a warm smile. I was treated like I plop down cash at this place enough times per month to pay their light bill. I was treated like I delivered the owner's daughter's baby. I was treated like I was the guy who pulled their dog out of the burning house, saving the family pet whom they love so dearly. That's how I was treated. This lady (first initial is K,) was treating EVERYONE who walked in that way...pet names, smile, jokes and awesome service. You go, K. You rock. I had the steak n eggs, with home fries, 2 poached eggs and a cup of joe. It was great. But that's not why I would come back. I'd come back to dine at 101 because they KNOW how to treat their customers. I can go many places for decent diner food. 9 out of 10 of them I'll leave feeling like a normal bloke. I left this place feeling like I was special.
(5)Jen W.
Great little diner on the main strip in Encinitas. The diner has outdoor and indoor seating, plus a "lunch" counter. The menu is filled with your standard basic greasy breakfast diner options, plus they have daily specials. The coffee is hot and the servers make the rounds to top off tepid mugs and check in to make sure everything was good. Our server was a more mature woman who was friendly and welcoming. She was awesome! We ordered a short stack of pancakes which were fluffy. Nothing short or small about this stack - the pancakes were huge. We also got the smoky chorizo scramble with potatoes. It was a filling plate served with a side of guacamole, potatoes and tortillas. mmmmmm, good. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and the perfect complement to breakfast. A great start to a California beach morning.
(4)Al C.
Best breakfast spot in SoCal. Scott and his crew offer an amazing selection of breakfast and lunch dishes that will suit anyone's tastes. Every time I'm in SoCal I'm at the 101 Diner sitting at the counter soaking up all of the local knowledge.
(5)Elizabeth M.
The baked apple pancake was beyond delicious! My husband had the shaved ham Benedict with jalapeño cilantro hollandaise and it was just as amazing. Prices were great for portion size. We will most definitely be back.
(4)Katharyn J.
Fast friendly service, delicious Greek omelet with potatoes & the hot sauce selection was pretty versatile. Large fresh squeezed orange juice is about 10 ounces. They don't accept American Express. Restroom is awkwardly located by busser station and seating, there was a wait and we had no where to stand. Waitress bumped me several times which I didn't appreciate. Other than that pretty chill place!
(4)Mike N.
What a great diner!! Food: Always perfect comfort food. Never a bad meal here. Big servings,, big jumbo perfectly cooked eggs, and the best potatoes around. I have no idea what they put in the home fries but wow, I gain 3 pounds every visit. It takes a lot to impress me for breakfast; guess I'm just a morning guy but this place never fails to impress. Corned beef hash is excellent too. Service: Fun wait staff and they're always waiting to fill your coffee cup. They always have a smile and are free to listen. I swear they moonlight as bartenders because they're all a hoot. Just like you'd find at a retro diner. Atmosphere: Small diner fare all around. Cool retro look and always busy on the weekends. You don't usually have to wait for a table during the week but it's still pretty busy. You aren't waited on by hot ladies in mini skirts or tie clad gents but still won't be embarrassed if you take your friend there after a long night of play. Prices: A little bit higher than the standard fare like Denny's but definitely not expensive. Well worth the price.

Upon the request of a small child who yearned for some sort of pancake with a face, I searched for a breakfast place that was NOT the dreaded (and often smelly) IHOP. We ended up at 101 diner. Our server was very friendly and kind. The kiddo greatly enjoyed his mickey mouse pancake. I, having a stupid disease that make it nearly impossible for me to eat at a breakfast place with gluten galore, opted for a cup of tea and grapefruit which was perfectly cut. We had a great time sitting on the patio, enjoying our breakfast, and spending a quality morning with each other. A perfect morning.

This is the best Acai Bowl in San Diego, possibly the US. I've tried all others and none compare. Fresh fruit, healthy portions, great service always. Crush it and enjoy.
(5)Lindsay S.
Everything I've had here was amazing. I usually swap between the chorizo scramble and acai bowl and try to get someone to share with me so we can order both. The service is just as good as the food.
(5)Bob V.
Best Diner ever! Scott the owner makes you feel at home and I start my day eating delicious food and outstanding service! Go there and you won't regret it.
(5)P B.
I've eaten here a couple of times and I absolutely love the breakfast options that they have. My favorites are their pancakes and waffles. Whenever we go with a bunch of people we try our best to get a variety of things so we can try the delicious concoctions that they come up with here. It's usually very packed and has a wait, so if you want to go here, make sure you know that there will be a wait (mostly on weekends). I'm excited to go back for sure.

My boyfriend and I stopped by here on our way back to Orange County from San Diego. There are there diner type places within a one block radius with 4 star reviews. We ended up finding parking right in front of this one, so in we go! I ordered the French toast with scrambled egg whites and a turkey patty. What I got was 6 pieces of the best French toast I've ever had (and that's saying a lot since French toast is actually my favorite food ever), a heaping plate of egg whites, and a massive turkey burger patty. It was all amazingly delicious and I would recommend it in a heartbeat! My boyfriend ordered the chorizo scramble and said it was very good and was very satisfied with our stop. This place has old school decor and great, friendly, quick service. We would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area!
(5)Michael W.
I slammed corned beef and hash while the mrs. worked on a chicken machaca omelette. Both meals were really tasty and the wait staff and cook team were nothing short of delightful.
(4)Scott L.
My wife and I ate there for the first time on a business trip last month. We were looking for a breakfast place that had character and had fresh healthy ingredients. All our expectations were met at the 101 Diner. Whenever I'm the area it will be my breakfast stop. The menu has lots of choices and the portion size was just right. The staff was friendly, genuine and seemed to care we were there. It was easy to find street parking almost in front. They have both inside and outside seating.
(4)Picky S.
Great Everything. GOOD food and GREAT customer service! Everything is delicious and if you don't like it they will exchange it without charging you.

Nice Eat outside Polish Kilbasa sausage with eggs go well

I had a tuna salad and side of fries for lunch. The serving size was huge! However, I can't say that the salad was particularly memorable. It did not leave much of an impression. This place is very reasonably priced, and I'd probably want to try to come here for breakfast sometime. It's also an ideal place for lunch during the workweek. Located in a nice area, fast service, and pretty cheap.
(3)April S.
Decent for a diner and novel diner style decor but the food was not my favorite or the best quality. It is conveniently located in downtown Encinitas and fine if you are in the mood for some comfort food.
(3)Chelle M.
Great server, Andrea! Came in for lunch, burgers were delicious as we're the fries. Had that beach diner motif. Will be back to try their breakfast. Thank you yelp reviews for suggesting this place!

Stopped by a coffee shop for substance only to laughed at by a local and told to come here. San Diegians are amazing and this place was all the hype is meant to be. Warning, though I didn't get the apple pancake, it is of outrageous proportions. 15 feet away and I could still tell it was too big for me or any human that is not of SHAQ sized. Standard dining fair, but fairly priced, very filling and satisfying. Be warned sitting in front of the grill on the bar seating can be a smelly yet intriguing experience.
(4)Greg C.
Good little breakfast place. I usually order the California omelette.
(4)Angel L.
Great service. Great food. Was in town for the weekend and had to have breakfast here both days. Should be Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!

We stopped at the 101 Diner on a Saturday morning around 10:45 and requested a seat outside since we had the dogs with us. We were seated after about 20 minutes - not bad! Unfortunately the dogs were really distracted by all of the other dogs walking by, so we had to stick them in the truck. It took a while for someone to take our order - longer than usual. Once they did, it took probably 15 minutes for my husbands Ho-Made Hash to arrive. It then took an additional 15-20 minutes for my Apple Pancake to arrive. My husband, being the gentleman he is, waited for my food to arrive before eating. I asked our waitress if she could reheat his food, and she said they only had a microwave and it would get all soggy. She also said that the meals came from two different kitchens, so it's impossible to time them to come out at the same time. REALLY? Impossible? Two kitchens? It's one restaurant. So, I said it's fine. He ate his cold hash (he said he would have enjoyed it more if there was a higher meat:potato ratio, but it was decent). The apple pancake was pretty good. It's called "world-famous" on their menu, but I think I fell for the hype. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it was more like a dessert. The waitress was kind to give us $1 off of our meal for the cold food, but the fact that they couldn't stick his food under a heat lamp for 2 minutes erked me. I don't know that we'll be back.
(3)Ryan P.
4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service. Overall, a good place to have breakfast on the weekend.
(3)Morgan S.
So I got referred here by a friend. She always goes and gets the acai bowl. And I had never had one but heard how good they are for you. When I went and ordered one it was huge! I got the 2 scoops and it comes with bananas, kiwis, granola, honey, blueberries, strawberries all freshly cut and it just tastes amazing and fills you up! Love love love!!
(5)Stephanie H.
Very mature Scott. You should focus on your customer service not belittling people who post a negative review. You are very childish to call me a name. I definitely will not give this place a second chance. Good luck to you and your stinky attitude.
(1)Ben C.
The 101 Diner is the first restaurant that has been able to compel me to take time out of my day to sit down and write a review. It's that good. The staff is great, the service is quick, the ingredients are fresh, the atmosphere is fun, and the result is food that's ALWAYS on point. If you're not in the mood for one of their top-notch Benedicts or Omelets, be sure to try the Baked Apple Pancake - you won't be disappointed.
(5)Kelsey K.
Come here a lot and even though I always get the same thing (acai bowl or eggs florentine) it's always amazing and the service seriously kicks ass. Had a $40 bill that I had no problem leaving an extra $15 for tip. These girls really know what's up
(5)John B.
Best diner food in San Diego County. Loved sitting at the counter watching Scott and the crew work their magic. Excellent corn beef hash. Great atmosphere too.
(5)yvette j.
This place was yummy. The food portions were hearty. The service was good it was $22.00 for two people and thete was no wait. Very casual not fancy but comfortable. Good for families with kids.
(4)Leo I.
Added a star. The reason? Amazing service. Katelyn (spelling it right?) was my server today and she was very friendly and helpful. I watched her helping other guests. totally personable and really seems to enjoy her job. I had to ask her for her name so I could mention it in a re-review. I hope her boss checks yelp. She made my day better. For that, you get 1 more star!
(4)Nick H.
This place is packed!!!
(5)Cyndi R.
Hands down best breakfast in DT Encintas!! Lots of Encintas history in this classic joint with daily specials and killer Acai bowls!
(4)Nancy T.
Everything I've eaten at 101 Diner for breakfast is amazing! (I've never eaten there for lunch.) Their Banana Apple Pancakes are incredible! I love the location. The servers add to the experience as well - always pleasant.
(5)Giang H.
hm...not so sure why this place has such good ratings. Maybe it was what we ordered but this place was not a 4-5 star place. We went here for new year's day brunch and I ordered the chorizo scramble and my gf ordered the basic bacon and eggs. Mine tasted like a spiced up hamburger helper meal and her bacon was a little "too done" for our liking! For a diner, I guess its par but I've had plenty of other notable diner experiences. Wouldn't say I'd come running back, but also wouldn't say I won't be back...so they get a ...Meh from me
(2)Brie K.
My FAVORITE local diner in Encinitas. Amazing breakfast food, cooked to order, and overall great customer service. If you're coming to the 101 Diner on a Saturday or Sunday morning, expect a wait. The 101 Diner is small, broken up into two sides of the restaurant. The right side is bar seating with an open kitchen -- take a seat and watch the magic as they make food! The left side of the diner is comfy booth seating. If you want to sit outside, that's available too! Sidewalk seating just outside the diner is perfect if you want to watch the people stroll by. Eat here and enjoy!
(5)Stephanie L.
I love this place!!! Come here about once a month because I can't stay away. The Hollandaise is made from scratch and it's delightfully sinful...I can't get enough. Recently, the chicken machaca omelet was permanently added to the menu!!! Wooohooo I used to wait for it to be on special. It's amazing. The owner works the griddle and he puts a lot of pride into his food and you can really tell. I have a feeling I'm gonna keep coming back for years to come.

It was a sunny Saturday in Mid February, though me being me kept referring to it as being August, you see coming from a place where you get maybe 6 days of GREAT days a year mainly in the summer I am still getting my head around the fact that actually the sunshine makes an appearance year round in these parts. After a lazy lie in hubby and I decided to take a drive to Encinitas for a wander and a brunch. Or should I say I drove us down to get practice- seriously people, keep off the roads during the evenings and weekends as I am practicing and not one road in San Diego county is safe! We had seen this place a few times and took a walk in, well, took a seat outside actually as it was far too nice to sit indoors. In fact we didnt even venture into the diner so I can't comment on the cleanliness of the restaurant or the restrooms (yes, restrooms I seem to judge a restaurant on- be aware people, keep your restrooms clean!). The server was friendly, presented us with a menu and both of us were well and truly overwhelmed. So many choices for breakfast, what to pick? Well, I cannot recall what hubby ordered, I was way too interested in my own stomach which was growling as it had been sometime since I had eaten. Eventually I picked, based on the server suggesting some of the specials. My meal of choice was the Chorizo scramble with hash browns, it came with tortilla, sour cream, guacamole and salsa. Like having fajitas for breakfast in a way. Loved the Chorizo scramble, the salsa was homemade and fresh. It was good! The hash browns were a little dry and so I really needed the glass of water which was provided. Though my actual drink of choice was a milkshake which was also good- they filled the glass and there was still enough in the metal container (I cannot recall right this second what the metal thing is called, my brain is fried from another sunny weekend!) for another full glass. Not the best milkshake ever but it was still good. All in all very impressed with the place and the prices were not bad for the size of the portions!

I came in on a busy Friday morning with friends, so of course it took about 20 minutes to be seated, but what can I say, considering it is in a very popular location. I wish I could like it more considering that the food was delicious and HUGE, especially for the cheap price, but we had somewhat bad service. I've heard wonderful things about the waiters and waitresses, and maybe we just got a bad server, but our party was completely forgotten (maybe it was because we were all under 18). We didn't get half our beverages, and one came way after our food came and was eaten, and all of our food came out at sporadic times. Our first dish came out before we got our drinks, our second and third was about ten minutes after that, and my dish didn't come out until about 20 minutes after the first came out. The food was mediocre diner cuisine. I would recommend it on a less busy day, but I've heard wonderful things, so maybe it's worth another try.

The best breakfast in town. The best staff in town. What more can you ask for. Get the eggs bene and go home stuffed.
(5)Gordon B.
Great breakfast. Delicious. The food is well prepared and cooked in front of you. It is kinda tight as far as space, but quaint. As usual, I had the pancakes with eggs. I look forward to my next trip.
(4)Peter V.
Our favorite breakfast spot in all of North County. Great potatoes, perfect diner atmosphere. Whatever the special Benedict is, order it. This place does Benedicts right.
(5)Jack B.
The food and service is second rate. Manager is very rude. Avoid this place. The manager responded within minutes of this review name calling. I suspect many of the Yelp reviews are from the owner. This place should be on Restaurant Impossible with the owner complaining about the customers and yelling he is right! Real life soup Nazi w/o the soup.
(1)Karma S.
Tasty diner food that is made with fresh ingredients. Nice location on the 101 in Encinitas and friendly service! I had their S.O.B Omelette with a cup of coffee- everything was spot on. I recommend 101 Diner.
(4)Joe B.
This is one of several great breakfast joints in downtown Encinitas, a great spot to start your day and meet the neighborhood dogs, who are patiently sitting under the outside seating with their owners. Our favorite is the kielbasa & eggs combo. Just the right amount of spice and it is extremely satisfying first thing in the morning - much more so than bacon or sausage. I've also tried the pancakes with success. We've had good luck arriving before 8am, but perhaps after the summer, things quiet down and it's possible to walk-in later than that with no wait. But it's worth it if there is a queue.

One thing I love about riding the coast is that there are may bicycle friendly places to eat. 101 Diner is no different. While the seating is rather limited and was quite crowded on a weekend, we managed to placed on the patio. There is nothing fancy about 101 Diner however if you're looking for a quality home cooked breakfast at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. The menu is quite extensive so chances are whatever your wants are on that given day, they will have it. Kept it basic as I still had a good distance to make it back home and didn't want to have too much. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and an English muffin. (Ok writing that does appear that I over didn't want to have too much) however being a breakfast person, I'm sure as heck not going to have a fruit bowl. Portions were hearty and to my defense, I did leave some of the hashbrowns remaining on the plate...not much though. Service was friendly and extremely attentive considering how busy it was. Never felt as though I was being lost in the shuffle. Sitting on the patio, watching the pedestrians stroll by is a nice way to enjoy a breakfast however you need to be prepared that you will get some exhaust fumes from the cars passing by.

great food- no sanitation letter grade in sight though. So if you don't mind that--it's a good place for a burger.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and Cafe 101 exceeded my expectations. This was my first time here and I plan to be back many, many times. I had the special...Avocado and maple bacon eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes. Everything was perfect. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp, and you can't go wrong with avocado. They make their own "ho-made" hollendaise and it is amazing. And, best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. The flavor, texture, wow really good. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but I feel like that's not bad for a Sunday morning. Our waitress was very friendly and did everything right. We ordered small OJs and when large ones came because they were out of small glasses, she immediately noticed and reassured us that we would only be charged for smalls. I can't wait to go back and try more amazing food!

Whenever my boyfriend and I get a chance to spend the day by ourselves the first thing we do is get up and drive out to this wonderful little cafe. There is usually a wait, but we don't mind standing in line. This is our go to place for eggs benedict. We have yet to find a place that compares or even comes close. They have a few tables out front where you can watch the traffic and people, they have inside seating but it tends to get a little warm and they even have a cute little patio out back. No better way to start a day on the coast enjoying the sun!!
(5)Vinnie W.
My son had the pancakes and he said they were "tasty" and my dad had the stuffed French toast and it was awesome. The service was good and the paintings of all the local surf spots were very cool. We wi definitely come again.
(4)Banu K.
love this new new breakfast dive. came here one morning after the gym with the kids. there was a wait (beware), but well worth it. ordered typical breakfast fare the first time (good service, had fun), and the second time I go the Acai bowl...super duper delish, i highly recommend it. will come here often, i love the street view, the vibe, i can bring the dog!
(5)Scott K.
I ate here 2 times the last 3 days for breakfast. Today I had the carnitas Benedict at the recommendation of the waitress. Wow! Absolutely loved it! I sat at the bar by the grill. Good ambiance and good vibe. Will come back again!
(5)Anthony S.
Amazing place all around for breakfast. We went here on a weekday and had no wait at all. I have seen this place get pretty packed on the weekends, so be ware. I get an old school diner vibe here from the ambiance as well as the staff. I got the chicken machaca omelette that comes with salsa, sour cream, guacamole with a side of their special hash browns. The portions are extremely large and definitely filling. There was a lot of meat inside of the omelette and not too much fillers. Also got the amazing and tasty Baked Apple Pancake. This was packed with great flavor and definitely satisfied our morning sweet. This is something you should definitely share with someone or a few people. We had the waitress treat it as our dessert and bring it out fresh after we ate our food. Parking is hit or miss depending on the day you go. There are some seats outside that aren't as comfortable as the ones inside. Dogs are ok outside. They have daily and weekly specials. Check this place out for a cheat day.

Tucked in the town of Encinitas on South Coast Hwy, the 101 Diner is a top spot for breakfast and lunch. I can't say I've tried their lunch, but I can share a review on their breakfast. The menu is mouth watering. It's really hard to come to a place like this when you're on a diet but I opted for something more healthy-ish. I ordered the veggie egg white omelette with a side of fruit. Delicious. They have a signature Apple Cinnamon Sugar Pancake that my husband and I had to try. This came for dessert. (I felt it needed to be capitalized it was just that good). This is a must- fresh out of the oven , it is one giant pancake baked with warm apples and cinnamon sugar. It practically melted in my mouth. The service here is phenomenal. This is what makes the restaurant right? Our waitress was the only one serving that morning and she was on top of everything- nice, funny, personable.. Really made me feel as if I'm a regular at this restaurant, although it was my first time. Needless to say, she got a nice little tip ;). The ambiance is just like your good old fashioned diner- 50s decorations all over the walls, etc. This is a great spot to come if you are looking for a superb breakfast. Did I mention they served breakfast all day? :)
(5)Jose G.
Bit of a wait for a table but that just goes to the popularity of the place! Loved the avocado, cheese and bacon omelette. Highly recommend!
(5)Jerry B.
I stumbled upon this place for a late breakfast and I'm so glad that I did. I'm a sucker for eggs benedict so our waiter was kind enough to mention one of their daily specials, which was the carnitas benedict. A-MAZ-ING. It's served with a chipotle sauce, avocado, homemade hollandaise, and topped with queso fresco. Absolutely to die for. Will be back!
(5)Claire L.
I went there following YELP. But I feel very dispointed because food wasnt impressive and my chicken was burned outside n undercooked inside. Beside, a fly enjoyed the opened ketchup bottle on my table. I'm giving 3 stars because staffs were super kind. I can't trust yelp anymore.
(3)Mika C.
Great choice for out of towners looking for homestyle breakfest choices w/ family atmosphere vs dennys/ihop. Service was fast and friendly. Entire family was pleased, including my little picky eaters. Greek Omelet was the best I've had hands down!
(5)Grace M.
My husband and my experience at the 101 Diner was pretty decent. We went there on Sunday around 1:00pm. The place was pretty busy, but the wait was only about 15 minutes. The food was homey, and the service was fast. The different waiters and waitresses that attended to us were attentive but not overbearing. It was a good experience from beginning to end.
(4)Annie B.
It was just ok.
(3)Phil D.
Awesome! Friendly, funky and great food. Reminded us of the Sugar Shack in Huntington Beach!
(5)Dale D.
Great place for breakfast in Encinitas. Nothing fancy--its a diner--but good filling food and good service. Not the best I have had, but not too far off from it.
(4)E B.
Great food! Cool location and atmosphere. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my experience very much!
(5)David E.
Love this breakfast spot, quick service, usually a wait for a table on the weekends or after 9am so show up early. Sitting at the bar is my favorite way to dine so we can watch the chef make our breakfast right there and the staff is prompt with the coffee and water. The benedicts are awesome as well as the waffles and acai bowls. Never had a bad breakfast there and have been back several times. You can order a half breakfast, but it is better to bring a friend and just share.
(5)Shainna B.
I had way better better food at other places. Pretty mediocre, hotter than he'll in this place, charred potatoes. I should have went to swami's
(3)Kris N.
101 is one of our favorite weekend breakfast spots. It's a really popular spot! There's outside and inside dining. A lot of people bring dogs and eat out front. You can put your name on a list and wait, or do what we do - look inside and see if there are any spots open at the breakfast counter. We always are able to find 2 spots. No wait and you can watch all the action of the busy kitchen! We ordered an acai bowl to share. No need to get the large. It's HUGE. The small is plenty for two people to share if you're getting something else with it. We ordered the special of the day, a carne asada omelet. They even split it on two plates for us. It was delicious!! The diner is a blast from the past and exactly what you'd imagine for a vintage diner on the 101! Casual, good food and nostalgia! We'll be back for sure!
(4)Tom M.
This place is both impressive and terrifying at the same time. It is a true diner--big portions of basic, decent chow served quick and easy, without any flash or fanciness. The locals obviously love it, and I saw many of them chatting up the waitresses and the owner/cook. They have several updated variations on old themes, so getting fresh veggies with your breakfast is easy to do. Why do I find the place terrifying? Having an open kitchen is fine if the view is nice. But given the pace of the orders and amount of food coming out, the grill was nasty to sit in front off. There's no time to clean during a rush, I know. But the sight of heavily caked-on package batter, eggs, potatoes and other food spatters is the farthest thing from appealing. I was very impressed at the speed they were working, and my breakfast was good. But the place needs a serious, deep cleaning. Next time I'll sit as far away from the counter as possible. And yeah, there will be a next time.
