Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Tasteless food. Overpriced. Go to Silver Dragon on E/F street.

Got the kimchi fried rice on a Wednesday for 5 bucks... It was extremely plain, tasted like regular fried rice... They give you a lot though. Place is clean, but kinda small.

POOR FOOD SERVICE! EXTREMELY UNSANITARY!!! AND AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE Ignore the fact that I waited my food for over 20 minutes, they were busy on Halloween night, I get that. But what I got repulsed by was when, after they had given my friend's order and after she had already put her fork in the food, the male employee took the order back to the kitchen "to make sure it was her order," even tho my friend had shown him the receipt. The fact that he took a order back to the kitchen, especially after the food had been touched by the customer, was extremely unsanitary and unspeakable. Not only was it extremely rude of him to take our food away, completely ruined our good mood, But what if it had actually been an order for someone else, would he actually have given it to the "rightful" customer instead, despite having it been touched by someone else? They should have never taken the food back behind the counter once it has left the area in the very first place. WHAT KIND OF LOW-GRADE RESTAURANT DOES THAT? When I spoke to the same male employee about the situation, he was extremely defensive about what had happened. It is extremely unappetizing and safe to say I will not be making me way back to the this restaurant anytime soon.

Terrible chinese food that at least is quite filling. The sauces are all canned and overly syrupy and not good. If you're looking for bang for your buck food and don't live anywhere near Old Teahouse (or don't believe in holding onto cash), then do come here. Their rice is cooked well, and their meats aren't too poorly fried, but the quality of the vegetables and their meats are atrocious. Everything tastes like it's frozen, which it probably is, and nothing is memorable. If you are looking for better Cantonese cuisine in Davis, I suggest giving up or going to OTH.

I don't know why this place is so popular. I only come to Open Rice Kitchen if it's late, I'm on a budget, and there are no other options. This was the first place I came to in Davis. I went with my dad and he couldn't even finish his meal because he hated it so much. My meal tasted like they microwaved some veggies and meat and drizzled a ton of oyster sauce on it. Really?! The only pro about this place is that it is really cheap and open late. I think the only thing edible here is the Kimchi fried rice. Sorry, but this does not meet my standards for good Chinese food! I understand that it's cheap, but I really just can't do it.
(1)Shirley D.
This joint sells your typical meal that a college student could make at home! Except... ain't nobody got time for that in college right?! Just kidding, but the meals are pretty basic nothing short or fancy of your neighborhood chinese restaurant. Their Kim-chi fried rice has improved a lot since the first time I ate here. I have been known to make a mean kim-chi fried rice and I would say this dish is enjoyable to eat. I also got the singapore style noodles, which is really tasty. And the 2 for $5 beers? Nothing can beat that! All in all, it's not bad here! You get huge portions for the price you are paying. You can study here with free wi-fi and most importantly, FOOD!

Ugh. Came here because I wanted cheap thai tea to satisfy my craving but what. a. disappointment. There was only one person working at the cashier (who is also in charge of making the milk teas) and one person cooking. After I ordered approximately 6 other people were waiting in line. Now I understand that she may have wanted to get the orders in before making my drink, but having me wait 15 minutes for a thai tea is unacceptable (I DIDN'T EVEN ORDER FOOD!!). Certain customers that ordered beer got their drinks before I did. Perhaps it's debatably easier to press the beer handle than to pour pre-made thai tea with a scoop of ice, but I felt that she should've taken a mere 1 minute to complete my order. She did thank me for waiting, but that's not an excuse to waive the amount of time I had to stand there. Plus, the thai tea was made WAYYYYYY too sweet and I threw it away after drinking half. I will definitely opt for better next time.

The portions are great for the price. I'm not the biggest fan of this place just because I think it's tastier elsewhere. And being Chinese, I've had better. If you're just really hungry and a little low on money, this is the place to go. There is always seating. It doesn't seem like it gets a lot of business. The upside is that it's opened late, but so are other places... I would recommend everyone to make their own judgments on this place, because I know I am very picky about Chinese dishes of any kind.
(3)Alison L.
I don't like Open Rice Kitchen that much but I always find myself coming back because it's open late and pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. It's convenient that it's open until 3am so if you're up late this is one of those last resort places. I tried multiple dishes here because I still can't find one I like enough to order again and again. Kim Chi fried rice pro: only $5 on Wednesdays When it came out, the rice looked so shiny and oily. Fried rice is not supposed to look like that! It didn't have any Kim chi taste at all either. I pretty much drowned it in siriacha and didn't even finish the whole thing Beef chow fun It looked good when it came out but again it looked super greasy. It came on a paper plate and after eating half of it the paper plate was soaked in oil. Also didn't really taste like much. Regret eating it because I had a stomach ache after. Sacha signature entree with chicken Best thing I've tried here because it wasn't drenched in oil but the sauce was kind of watery Boba is decent, but sometimes it tastes like sugar water. They occasionally have a half off boba special which makes it super cheap considering how big their cups are.
(2)Stephanie W.
Woohoo! Open rice has been stepping up their game. I've been getting the $5 specials and I can say that I've been satisfied with every dish! The boba has gotten a lot better as well. I love open rice! And I'm friends with the cashier now lolol ok.
(4)Harrison S.
The food is very simple. It's nothing you couldn't make at home. There's nothing really special about the fried rice and drinks. My girlfriend loves the kimchi fried rice but it doesn't really appeal to me. If you're looking for something simple to eat on a casual day, $10 for a fried rice and a drink isn't all that bad. Keep an eye out for their daily specials to help save a few bucks. If you guys haven't tried the lychee snow, give it a go, so far it's my personal favorite. The other snows are a little too sweet.
(3)Vickie W.
Similar to Old Teahouse at Umall. Average quality Chinese food. Oh but the boba is better here than at old Teahouse. Also they have 50% off promotions every now and then. I really dislike eating-in because they have Horrible ventilation and it gets very, very smokey in the restaurant. You kind of walk out smelling like you just had Kbbq but you didnt.. Sucks.
(3)Christine C.
Kudos for this place for being open really late for the late night hungers!!! I ordered the kimchi fried rice since it happens to be very popular. I thought it was decent/good considering not a lot of places in Davis are good. I also ordered the regular black milk tea with pearls. The milk tea is yummy! The pearls are bland. They should add honey or sugar to it at least...bland boba is a no-go. However, the texture of the pearls are perf! Chewy and soft. The wait took about 20 minutes since it was a friday night and a lot of students were there. Service is good and I recommend going to this place if you're really hungry at night. :-)
(4)Jacqueline R.
My review is solely based on the milk tea at this restaurant! I haven't tried any of the food dishes here. I was in Davis visiting one of my closest friends from UCD. He took me and some of our friends to this place since it was a boba place that was open late at night and we wanted a place to play card games. I ordered the taro milk tea, and was pretty impressed with how quickly I received my drink! Service was pretty quick and I got my drink almost immediately after I had ordered. Mental note: Getting speedy service doesn't always mean that what you get served is GOOD! Oh my goodness...my taro milk tea was SO watery! It was almost like taro flavored water rather than milk. Unfortunately I made the mistake of ordering a large and got stuck with the drink because I was hesitant to buy anything else -__- Definitely don't come here for the milk tea drinks if that's what you want. From the looks of it, it seems they've got a lot of dishes and whatnot. The milk teas are definitely not their strong suit.
(1)Ryan F.
This place is, I think, a hong kong style chinese restaurant? Not 100% sure. Either way, what they have is pretty simple, tasty food and a ton of different kinds of milk tea. I got eggplant and some other tasty snacks, the wife had a milk tea and a shrimp dish, overall good food, pretty good value. We did take out, not sure I'd want to eat here, it's loud and kind of smoky in the dining room.
(4)J M.
Great place. Tried all their fried rice and we were extremely happy with each of them. Love their boba drink too. Now to break it down: Food quality - 5. You just have to believe me Price - 4. Price is not cheap, but for the product you get, it's well worth it. Service - 5. No problem here either Ambiance - 5. Small place, but nice and clean. Pick you day wisely, this place gets full quick. To summarize, am I going back there? YOU BET I WILL!!!!
(5)Michelle H.
Came here during finals week at 11pm starving after a long day of studying and was rejected from ordering food because they were too busy and had too many orders on their hands. There was only like 7 people in total seated in the restaurant. AND I SAY.... wtf? why open a restaurant if you wont serve any food?!
(1)Takeshi C.
Ordered the kimchi fried rice here. Next day I was on ProActiv. Holy crap the kimchi fried rice was oily, it looked like a slip and slide for rice. The kimchi fried rice itself was so bland, I could hardly taste much of anything. I also got the wonton soup and although they had good portions, the soup had less taste than a drunk guy at a club. Service was ok, but I would not come back to this place.
(1)Melissa B.
I have only had the boba teas from here, and although they dont offer as many varieties as other places, I like to come here for the simple fact that they are not cash only!! Cash only places kill me. And the teas are cheap for the size they give you, it's about $2.50 for a huge flavored black milk tea. Think twice before trying to put the tea in your car cup holder, it wont fit. They offer different types of milk as well, like almond milk, but I just recently had a mango black milk tea (reg milk) and it was so good! Sweet, but not too sweet, and I think that will be my new go-to drink from Open Rice Kitchen. If you are planning on heading over during dinner times/the weekend, it might be difficult to find parking. Notorious downtown davis with their limited parking strikes again. But since it's a pretty fast stop, a 20-min should do.
(3)Blake E.
The shrimp gave me food poisoning. This was confirmed by a doctor. Fuck you guys! I will be reporting this to the health department.
(1)Anh T.
So I still like this place and its Thai tea and food and promos and most of the workers are really nice so that's what the 4 stars are for, but the cashier who took my order had some serious attitude. My total was $5.35 so not wanting a bunch of coins, I handed her a ten and a quarter and what I thought was a dime. When I gave it to her, she didn't say anything so I assumed it was correct change. Yet when she handed me my change, she gave me four dollars and a bunch of coins.... Um do you have common sense??? When I asked her if I gave her 35 cents, she rudely replied and said "you gave 26 cents" with so much attitude. Um.... Why would I give you 26 cents if the total called for 35??? I just don't understand her lack of common sense. She really needs to check her attitude.
(4)Kim B.
The Ha-Moon noodles are delicious! They have an excellent flavor and have little pork bits and small shrimp! The sauce is a little sweet, but yummy. The vermicelli noodles are a better choice than the wide rice noodles. Vermicelli noodles seem to absorb more of the sauce and have a better texture. Also the Thai iced tea is a steal! You get this huge drink with free tapioca balls! Everything is very reasonably priced and the waiting for food is usually no longer than 10 minutes!
(4)Andie T.
Love the milk tea here, and their kimchi fried rice is the best! It's definitely noisy in here, so I usually just get my food togo. If you follow them on Facebook, they usually have different deals everyday-- super affordable and delicious.
(4)Cindy C.
The food here is okay. My first time here I got calamari and it was extremely salty. Pretty much inedible. I haven't gotten it since so I don't know if it was just an off day or if that's just how they make it. The other stuff I've gotten has just been okay, but at least it's cheap. The drinks are pretty good, but definitely really worth it during half-off promos.
(3)Angela Y.
Their vegetarian options are definitely not good. I had the spicy eggplant and tofu special entree and it was sub par. I wasn't in the mood for a rice dish but I really had no choice. It was more expensive than it was worth but all the other restaurants in downtown were either closed or closing soon. (AND I WAS NOT GOING TO TACO BELL) It also took 20 minutes to come out. Doubly not worth it. I don't think I'll be coming back soon.. And that is saying a lot because I am NOT at all a picky eater. Maaaybe back to try the boba. Service staff was nice at least.
(2)Rahul P.
This place is horrid. My friends orange chicken was fried batter. My tofu was dish was so bland and so oily- it tastes like fried paper towel. I went after ordering to order their $1 boba on Wednesdays and was denied because you have to order it with your food. Wtf! I showed the receipt too- horrible service and food. Would not go back.
(1)Diana C.
I haven't sampled much of their food, but what I have tried is always fresh from the kitchen. The kimchee fried rice has a good kick, perfect for mild spicy lovers. Their spareribs are really savory too, although I wish the jalapeños were fried along with the meat. Their boba is the BEST deal in Davis, price wise. You can get half off boba if you show that you've liked their fb page on your smartphone. Can't beat $1.35! The matcha green tea is one of my favorites (it's got a malt-like aftertaste which I really like and assume comes from the powder), along with almond and taro. The boba itself, however, isn't as constant. Sometimes they're a bit too soft/overcooked, but other times they are perfect. Either way, it always satisfies my boba craving, so I'm not complaining. This is one of the few places open past midnight in Davis, so that's a star in itself. If you decide to come here after midnight Thursday through Saturday, your chance of encountering drunk college students increases exponentially, if you aren't one yourself. This can either be annoying or entertaining, depending on who you are. Overall, this is a solid place to get fresh late night Asian food and cheap cheap boba!
(4)Jeff G.
It's a great place to go for some cheap tea. The experience at Open Rice is mixed. I've never been overly impressed with the food. Their Singapore noodles were tasty but really oily. Their chicken entrees tend to be better. Last time I went there though, the place was really dirty. They need to hire an extra person to bus tables or put up waste receptacles like Panera bread so that people can bus their own after they eat. Final verdict? Still out. It's spotty. Sometimes its great, other times its slow, food seems rushed and overly busy.
(3)Cammie W.
Their milk tea and tapioca aren't that great. The milk tea itself is watered down and the tapioca is pretty mushy and unappealing. I tried a snow, which was decent but I would prefer to have a good milk tea drink instead. The food is decent but I would much rather go to Old Tea House. The price is also pretty expensive compared to the amount and quality of food that you could get at Old Tea House. The singapore style noodles did not have enough flavor at all. The kimchee fried rice could be better. It seemed like they just used regular cabbage and added some seasonings instead of using real kimchee. The beef chow fun is pretty good but it is pretty oily, even for this type of dish.
(2)Mendel L.
Finally! A college friendly Chinese restaurant! You can say this place is a Chinese version of Thai Canteen, though the decor could be a little nicer. OR you can say this is a big version of Old Tea House. I got the Satay pan friend noodles with beef and my friend got the Eggplant with Tofu in spicy garlic sauce $7.75. Both were pretty tasty and fresh and were very reasonably sized for the price. The tea drinks were also pretty good. They use syrups as opposed to power for the flavorings, a big plus over Old Tea House. I got a small sample of their boba which was decent though a bit old. Once this place gets more business and they're making more batches of boba, it has potential! The service was good as well. The host?cashier? person was very friendly. She brought over the food and the drinks when they were ready. She happily remade/added more tea to my drink when I told her she added to much mango syrup to my tea as well. The only problem I can see with this place is if we weren't one of the few people there, service could have been really really slow. But as they're still on their soft opening, they got time to hire more workers and figure things out. I'll be back Open Rice Kitchen!
(4)Leary M.
They had late night hours so we would just bike there to pick up some food and drinks. Their beef chow fun is the best!I used to go here A LOT during freshman year.
(4)Jessica T.
Open Rice is kind of like Old Tea House & Quicklys. Only the line and wait for the food isn't as long as the other two places. They don't offer as much food selection as the other two restaurants but I don't really care because what they have is good enough. They also have boba there :) I really like their salt & pepper calamari. It comes with so much. I also like their beef chow fun & salted fish fried rice.
(4)Naseem R.
I love this place. Their boba is pretty good and very reasonably priced compared to other places in Davis. The food is also amazing. I almost always get the chicken fried rice. No complaints here. :)
(5)Bryan B.
The Singapore spicy fried noodles were better than I ever remember. We had our food faster than most fast food joints can do it. The wait staff, one guy, was super courteous and helpful. Glad I stopped in.
(5)Catherine Y.
I ordered the wonton noodle soup because it seemed popular among the yelp reviewers and cause it was a cold Wednesday night. The presentation of the steamy noodle soups was appetizing. The taste on the other hand was not as good as expected. The egg noodles were very limp and the broth was... i dont even remember how it tastes like...not memorable. The noodles were limp cause the broth might have softened the egg noodles by the time I got to them. The wontons and bok choy were the best about this order. But for the price, I really can't complain.
(3)Stephanie H.
Pros: Big portions Good milk tea, and for cheap too Open late Nice ambience Clean front of the house Cons: Slightly greasy rice plates Inconvenient location, little parking Open Rice Kitchen is a great place to go to at all times of the day. It's open very late, so there's always a late night crowd. Some dishes that I particularly enjoy are the Kimchi fried rice, the chow fun noodles, and the wonton noodle soup. I love the big portions and how authentic tasting it is. The Kimchi fried rice is flavorful and is probably the best in town. The chow fun noodles are good and the wonton noodle soup is tasty and satisfying. The matcha milk tea is good too!!!!!!!!!! Try it!
(4)Mark F.
This place was generally ok. What I didnt like it there is the fried rice. When I order a pork fried rice on Sunday, it looks so greasy on a plate. Generally, they have like $5 deals daily.
(3)Misty M.
Why do we keep coming here? Is it the food or the wonderful customer service? Open Rice Kitchen makes you come back even though the service when you order is severely lacking in efficiency and a friendly face. Couple times we went into dine, One young lady at the cash register took our order clearly emphasizing that she did not want to be there. It's understandable to consider everyone has their bad days. But this lady.. Just didn't give even a HINT of customer service. We called in for a order, received MUCH attitude asking to restate the order, and she still got our order wrong. I don't understand how other cashiers are so good with customer service and she's the only one who is totally unaware that cashier/server is the "face and reputation" of the restaurant. The only good thing going for ORK is the fact that people like to eat and they like to get it fast. If one had to base an opinion solely on food - it's decent; to base it on customer service - I would take my business elsewhere. fortunately, I ply myself with good beer before making the decision to go across the street since its in such an accessible location. Half the time I cringe because I want the kimchee fried rice because I know could made it myself. I agree with everyone else - when it's 12am and you crave something asian and quickz
(2)GiaLinh N.
SERVICE: I came here for the first time, and the cashier is very nice to introduce some of the tasty food and drink for me. It seems to be crowded, but she manages to treat people nicely. FOOD: The food is okay, not very unique. The drink is so so, but it costs me only around $2~ for a large milk tea with pearl. Compared to other milk tea places in Davis, it's good way to fulfill your boba craving! PRICE: I can say that the price is very reasonable. One of the thing that I like about this place is that they have promotion $1 boba, $2 snack and $5 meal during the final weeks. Students could get many good deals for food!! LOCATION: Although its located right at the downtown, looking for the parking at peak time sucks. Most of them are street parking or you have to drive all the way around and park at the train parking. But I believe that it happens to any place you eat at downtown Davis though, not only this place. HOURS: They open very late at night. I believe that they do the closing around midnight. It's perfect for any nighters during midterms or finals!
(4)Brian J.
This use to be pretty good, with the lychee ice slushy boba tea thingy, but it's been getting worse. Food quality went down, quantity got smaller, and just over all not as good. I think they cater to the late night crowd because they're opened late. One of the last times I came here there was a customer that just threw up all over the table. I don't really like it here.
(2)Stephanie L.
I LOVE THEIR KIMCHI FRIED RICE AND THEIR BOBA! I did not really know about Open Rice Kitchen until my friends told me about this place because it is in the edge of downtown. BUT when I found out this place and had their KIMCHI FRIED RICE, I was like OMG. Their food portions are big. On the top of delicious kimchi fried rice, there is a fried egg, and it is delicious. I also love their BOBA. I especially love their black milk tea. They give you boba in this humongous cup, and I love it. I love boba so it is hard to satisfy me but this place always makes my boba cravings satisfied. Open Rice Kitchen opens until really late; whenever I stay up late, I go to Open Rice Kitchen and get my food. Overall, I really recommend this place for people who are carving for some good rice plates and some good boba together. OPEN RICE KITCHEN IS YUMMY!
(4)Christine G.
Open Rice Kitchen is hands down my favorite place in Davis for Kimchi Fried Rice! Located in downtown Davis, ORK is a go to spot for generously portioned rice plates and delicious boba. My friends and I always enjoy stopping by to order their Kimchi Fried Rice or grabbing a Matcha Green Tea when we're downtown. PROS in general include that it is open late (until 3 am most days!) and that they serve very large portions. For the price they charge, the portions are very filling and satisfactory! The rice plates are always worth trying. ORK also offers free wifi and has a lot of open seating for you or a group of your friends to hang around. For the older crowd, it's near many popular late night bars if you're looking for a quick chinese food fix. CONS however include how the rice might be a little greasier than you expect. The food is a little bit on the saltier side (perhaps to satisfy the large crowd of inebriated folk.) The main rice dishes which I enjoy also don't have too great of a variety, and it just seems like they don't seem to have easy to-go combo meals with a drink and dish. Though the food can be hit or miss depending on your personal taste, the boba is definitely a winner for me. They often have a 50% deal and you end up getting a large cup of boba for a little over a $1. Totally worth it if you ask me- not to mention they have an adorable instagram frame for you to take pictures with when the promotion is going on! All in all, I give Open Rice Kitchen 4/5 stars. The food is filling for it's price and the boba is on point. The owner and chefs really care about their customer service and improving on their restaurant. They're very friendly and approachable when you order and it's not uncommon to see late night customers making good conversation with the workers. I do hear that they're making changes to add new items to the menu as well, so I'm quite excited about that. If you haven't ventured to this restaurant yet, I suggest that you do. It may not be the place for you, or it could become your new favorite Chinese food spot. Never know till you try
(4)Savannah S.
I have only had the kung pao chicken and milk tea from here, so my experience with the general quality of the food here is limited. I digress... The place is definitely one of the cleanest places I've been to in Davis. Bright with big windows and good seating. Used an Opt Town app to get a "buy 2 drinks+one plate, get one free plate" with a "$5 kung pao chicken plate" to get two plates of food and two milk teas for $10! Milk teas were alright. The kung pao chicken was much too bland for me. Went up to the counter to ask for salt and pepper since there isn't any on the tables. Based on this first experience, this place isn't the first place I would think of when hungry, but I might consider going back if I was already in the area and had a deal to save some money.
(3)Tony T.
Open Rice Kitchen has good food and TVs that aren't blasting KPop into your ears while you eat.
(5)Stephy L.
Affordable prices and comfortable environment! Food: Always come here to get my beef chow fun craving fixed :) I love their salt and pepper chicken wings, salted fish and chicken fried rice and beef chow fun, of course. Not a big fan of their crab wontons and bbq pork (the bbq pork really needs improvement, or just take it off the menu) Drinks: 2 for $5 beer :D their milk teas are kinda nasty tho :( Also, I really like how the owner cares about his customers. The first time I was here, I ordered the rice roll which they did not offer anymore due to customer's feedback. The owner offered to bring it back for a day the next week, and he kept his words!! He does a lot of fundraising for clubs and schools
(4)Hev Z.
All the friends said this place was good, so I decided to try it. And boy was I disappointed. I ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, they tasted like oil, reused oil. No salt or pepper taste. I also ordered some fried rice, and it came in a paper plate. I never had that before. Everything tasted ehh. Can't say I'm impressed. Good thing about this place is it's very clean and looks very nice. The fact it's opened late is a big plus if you go downtown and get drunk, one of the only places to eat downtown around 1-2am. At that point, you'll get anything. So I guess that's a plus.
(2)Stephanie B.
Food is decent for the price.. But there is something so off-putting about how this restaurant smells. I think it is overwhelmed with a bleach-like cleaning product smell. And although props to you for keeping cleanliness a priority, people eat first with their eyes and secondly with their sense of smell... And if your dishes don't look good AND your nose is preoccupied by bleach... Well then my friend, your food obviously isn't going to taste to it's full potential..... ugh....The smell really gets to me..... I always imagine someone pouring a whole bottle of bleach into my food as I'm waiting for them to prepare it.... Soup dishes are highly not recommended. Rice dishes are ok when you're looking for some home-like comfort food... Or maybe even drunchies!
(3)Kendra M.
Just love the boba...in my opinion it beats teabo because of the cost and taste. Love mango snows with boba!
(3)Pierce B.
Awesome place. Always my go-to place. Love their Singapore style chow fun and wonton noodle soup. Atmosphere is super clean, staff is nice, and dining in is always a good option. Highly recommended.

I ate at Open Rice late last night after going back there many times. I came in at about 2:10 am which I thought was fine since their posted hours on the door says they close at 3am. I bought $30 worth of food for the two other people I had with me. The chicken meals didn't even have chicken in them and there were only 6 pieces in each meal . They were just deep fried batter and seasoned. The chow mien was dry and flavorless but my chicken egg rolls were good. I would have loved to have had finished my meal though 4 staff members within a 2 minute span started kicking us out and saying they were closed when it was only 2:35. So I complained to the staff as we were walking out the door that i have never been to such a rude establishment ever in my life (especially since the whole time I was there getting served I never got a thank you or a your welcome after I said thank you) and swore to never eat there again. A gentleman who claims he is the owner proceeds to not say a thing until we walk out the door and he follows us down the street wanting to fight the two men I have with me (even though they never said anything). He proceeds to follow us THREE blocks with a group of bouncers from wunder bar down the street bad mouthing us and calling me specifically names all the while not addressing why his posted hours are not apparently the actual hours. I will never eat at open rice again or drink at wunder bar simply because of service and lack of respect for well paying customers!

Of course it's not authentic Chinese food. If you want that, go to House of Chang for Cantonese (which has better beef chow fun) or Shanghai Town (aaamazing) or Old Tea House (way better salted fish and chicken fried rice). But it's cheap, 2 pints of beer is only $5 (oddly makes the place fitting for pre-gaming) , decent portion size, some options with plenty of fresh veggies. Contrary to what others say, I don't find the food overly greasy. They go lighter on salt as well, so I feel. Great late night meal, dependable, good service. They're also on Opt Town so there are deals.

This place sucks. It has no vegan options and probably no vegetarian options either. I asked the counter if they had anything vegan and they didn't know so the owner or chef came out and told me no. I asked can anything be made vegan? And got a flat out no. Not friendly or helpful. Definitely never coming back.

This place has some good Chinese food and some more unusual Chinese items you don't normally find in standard "Americanized" Chinese restaurants such as chow fun with runny eggs and rice. They have an option where you basically pick your meat, sauce, and cooking style. Portions are good and its fairly inexpensive. They also have the milk tea beverages like at the Old Teahouse.

The atmosphere here depends on what time of the year you come here. If you come here during the summer time, this place is practically dead because, let's face it...what student wants to spend their summer in scorching, hot weather buried in their books?! But, during the school year, this place can get really crowded, especially during lunch and dinnertime. So, this place isn't a good place to study if you need peace and quiet. And if you plan to drive here, fuhgettaboutit...it'll be impossible to find parking in the already cramped parking lot (I've heard horror stories about people fighting for parking spots around here). If you're like most Davis student, the logical choice would be to bike (or walk) here. This place has pretty good food and large portions at a fairly decent price. But, for some reason, the last time I went here...I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the soft, scrambled egg-style chow fun and it was lacking flavor. The sauce was definitely missing that wow factor. It was so bland that I thought they watered down the sauce with water. I don't usually go here to order milk tea, but I was craving for taro milk tea and since I was already here I thought...why not?! Big mistake! It tasted so powdery and it made me thirstier. For the quality that I was getting, it was definitely overpriced. I like how this place, unlike some Asian places around Davis (namely Quickly and Old Teahouse), accepts card, and isn't cash only. This place is okay if you're starving and looking for a decently-priced place near campus, but don't come here expecting something that will knock you off your socks.

Don't bother trying to use your OptTown app here they don't honor it. Wasting my time.

Food was ok. They should put up a sign stating that they don't allow outside food or drinks.
(2)Matthew W.
This place is pretty dope. The food is generally pretty cheap and decent quality for the price. Their appetizers are cheap and delicious, the popcorn chicken is the way to go. They have a good selection of beer, and better prices than G Street next door (2 for 5? Yes please). They're open obscenely late too, great for late night munchies. I'd recommend for college students and non-students alike.

Cheap, fast, and convenient. This place was a life saver during finals. I could call in my order, and 10 minutes later it was ready for pick up. The food is decent compared to what Davis offers, for the price I have no complaints. I enjoyed the salty fish and chicken fried rice, the portion was generous and lasted two meals. The satay beef over crispy noodles, a bit salty but still pretty good. The kung pao chicken was pretty good as well. From their noodle selection I've tried the beef chow fun, pretty standard no complaints, and also the ha moon vermicelli noodles...didn't know it would be so ketchupy, definitely wasn't too my taste. I'd skip the fried appetizers though. I've tried the pop corn chicken, calamari, and the salt and pepper spare ribs. They were all super dry, tough to chew, and just overall lackluster. Service is quick and friendly. Great place for people on the go and in a rush.

The first time I came here was near its opening date. It's more of a cozy Chinese Food place than one of your modern joints. The manager who took my order was a friendly man who spoke my Chinese dialect. If you're starving for some food that tastes home-cooked, I would've suggested this place. The food was pretty darn good, and I couldn't help but eye my friend's ORK Fried Rice, one of their pricier dishes. BUT, let's flash back to present day time, a year later after their opening. They hosted a 1-yr. anniversary special where all the food is 1/2 off and the milk teas only $1. No one answered our phone calls to order take out, so we decided to wait in line. My 2 friends and I began waiting in line around 6:15pm, only to realize 20 minutes later that the line was not moving AT ALL. We actually waited for 1 hour before we got up to the clueless, extremely inefficient cashiers (one of which just seemed to be standing there and not taking orders). After ordering, it took about 1.5 hours to just get my milk tea. I realized later on that there wasn't a point in having efficient cashiers if even the cooks weren't efficient! We waited 2 MORE hours for our food, and I think a lot of it was because they were understaffed, inefficient, and unprepared. My friend, while unsuccessfully looking for someone to ask when our food was ready, saw that there was only one cook who seemed to be cooking everything one meal at a time. At least prepare everything ahead of time! Now I know you may be thinking, come on, they're offering food for half-off! However, I have never felt so degraded as a customer in my life. At least have the sincerity to tell us when our food would be ready or allow us to come in another day with our receipt. This was also during finals week, and 3 hours starving for a damn meal is a good amount of time lost. Even worse, the food was not good. You would think that after starving for 3 hours, the food would taste amazing. No, not in this case. The boba was tasteless and clumped up (probably because I decided to wait 'til my food arrived before I drank it). The honey milk tea was bland. The rice in my ORK fried rice was undercooked! Seriously, how can a Chinese restaurant mess up RICE? At least do that well while you're making people wait. It was dry and I visited the restroom about 3 times that night. I know it wasn't the smartest thing to go to their 1-yr. event during finals week, but I did not expect that ANY restaurant would disrespect their customer's time like that. I am extremely traumatized by the amount of life I've lost. I use to like their food, but due to this disrespect, I won't be going back. *EDIT: Not too long after posting this review, the owner messaged me his apologies and how he can make up for that day's short-comings. Though this was a very nice gesture, my dignity is scarred from that experience and it would take a lot of time/effort before I can go back.

Mediocre food... well I've only tried their potstickers, popcorn chicken, and boba drinks. Boba is mediocre here good price, but places like the old teahouse have much better... I think this is the only place in downtown that sells milk/boba drinks? So if I'm already walking around downtown and crave it I come here to get my boba fix. DON'T get their popcorn chicken!! SO bland and SO dry... couldn't finish the plate I was sharing and it wasn't even served with a sauce... Other than that a perk is that It's a place that's open in Davis late (3 am on saturday nights) for post bar-hopping munchies.
(2)Gregorio A.
Ever find a place and the price is right, the atmosphere is laid back and the food is really good? Well here is a place that aaaight. Decent pricing for decent food, repeat. Repeat repeat. IPA's that are cool and college enough for you to feel young.

I've been to this place a couple times, (usually later in the evening) and I definitely like their food! It's pretty simple rice bowl type foods, though they don't have brown rice and that would definitely bean excellent addition to their menu. The first time I went I got beef satay over noodles and that way really good. Tender beef and well cooked veggies in flavorful sauce. The next time we went I got the broccoli tofu with rice and that was really good too. They've got the basic Asian stir-fry down for sure. I also had a matcha green milk tea (no boba for me, though they do have them) and that was delicious. Definitely recommended for cheap fast, tasty eats.
(4)David C.
Not bad, the price is good and the drinks are cheap. Pretty delicious.
(3)Jeff K.
I would give this place zero stars if possible. The food is not good -- the seasonings are off and things are not cooked properly. The price is also too expensive for the quality of the food and the portion size. Stay away!

Why is it that every time I pass by this place, it's empty? Being on the same street as the bars, I was quite surprised it wasn't cracking so I decided to try it out with a friend of mine. To be quite honest, it is an affordable price compared to the other restaurants in Davis. We ordered Singapore Chow Fun, Calamari, and Kimchi Fried Rice. For a Chinese restaurant, the Kimchi Fried Rice was alright...but the authenticity is quite far from what I've expected. The main reason is that they used dried rice, instead of sticky rice. Kimchi Fried Rice is best when cooked with wet rice because the taste of the kimchi will be more prominent. The dish basically tasted like regular fried rice, with a little kick to it. I don't know how my friend (who is Korean) wanted to try a Korean dish in a Chinese restaurant. It came out to be around $6 - $7 in a large plate so at least it was edible. The Calamari was the best thing we've ate. Everything about it was on point. The sauce was also quite tarty and sour, which went well with the beers that we ordered. It was quite meaty and lightly fried. The Singapore Chow Fun was the dish that I ordered. It makes sense, right? But it was worse than the Kimchi Fried Rice. It was soggy, oily, and the curry tasted kind of strange...as if they just mixed the oil and curry powder together and poured it on top of the noodles. I haven't had bad chow fun since The Old Teahouse. The price came out to be around $27 for two people. We ordered a lot of food, but I didn't really have the feeling of "full", more of "damn, I just ate a place of oil & noodles". The worst thing was that we were out to drink more for the bars. The next day did not treat me so well. Overall, I think I understand why it's not a great place to eat. I'm guessing that's why there was not many people around. I heard it's a good study place, but being right across from bars and clubs, I don't know how the building can be used for studying. Since it's a new place, it's a lot more cleaner and I'm guessing it will stay that way with no people around. I call it, "The Old Teahouse: The Cleaner Version".

When the first opened, I would have given them a 4 star rating, but lately as I kept returning, the quality of food and the overall service has gone down. I will be reviewing my last 3 experiences here to explain where the 2 star rating is coming from. 1. I ordered soft scrambled egg over riced(which used to the one of the best dishes at ORK) and when it came out, it tasted like they just poured water all over my rice and put some egg whites on it. It was highly disappointing because I really used to enjoy this dish a lot. 2. The next time I went back was because my friend wanted to eat some noodles. We got an order of Beef Chow Fun and I got Salt and Pepper Calamari. The Beef Chow Fun was extremely oily as if they used half a bottle of oil to cook and was so unsettling that my friend and I only ate about a third of the dish and had to leave because we felt that if we kept eating the Chow Fun, we'd get sick. The Calamari was salt ridden like no other. Salt must have been on sale because after every bite we probably had to sip our water. The calamari was probably on the level of a ramen packet. 3. This is my latest experience and because of this, I really can't see myself returning after a consistent string of sub-par food and overall in this one lack of service. I had ordered dinner at 11:30PM because I was working on project with my friend earlier that night and I had called in an order. When I was greeted I began speaking my order to first then be told "SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR YOU." I can understand being asked to speak louder, but the way I was asked was highly inappropriate. I felt like I was being yelled at for committing a heinous crime. I didnt understand why they couldnt hear me because I was in a quiet room anyways. After placing my order in for food that I know wouldn't let me down because everytime prior to the 2 experiences above, they we pretty good, I ordered a Kimchi Fried Rice and a Popcorn Chicken. When I arrived there, I walked up to the register asking for my order of pickup and wasn't even greeted. It was more so he looked at me and nod his head up to see what I wanted.... I paid for my food which was higher than what I expected. When I got home, I found out why it was like 14 dollars instead of 11-12. They gave me the WRONG ORDER. It was once again the Salt and Pepper Calamari. Also, this time around, the Kimchi Fried RIce was the WORST. It tasted as if they used old rice and then put some kimchi in it. IT WAS BADDDD. Bland dinner at midnight was just the cherry on top. I wouldnt go back here. They aren't that great and I would recommend Wok of Flame instead. EDIT: 2/24/13 I revisited this place alongside my friends and my lastest experience here allowed me to reconsider my previous review. This time I ordered their Beef Satay over Pan Fried Noodles. In comparison to prior orders, this dish was less salty and had a very nice balance between the flavors of the beef satay. I would however be cautious with ordering dishes here however, due to the sheer fact many are hit or miss. My original rating of 2 star rating has now become a 3 star rating. EDIT: 2/22/14 THEY SERVED UNDERCOOKED CHICKEN THAT WAS STILL BLEEDING!!!! WTF. -Richard M.
(2)Polly B.
3.5* I got the kimchi fried rice and the popcorn chicken. The kimchi fried rice was decent and the portion is generous. Not as spicy as I anticipated but still pretty good! The popcorn chicken however was a disappointment. No flavor whatsoever, had to put a good amount of pepper on them to make them tasty. Friendly customer service. Price is good for what it's worth. Give it a try if you're in the area! They're open late.
(3)Brian H.
Why are their cups so wide? It won't even fit in my cup holder! Food was alright. I got the crispy chicken wing and the fried rice. Wasn't the best, but it was also not that expensive.
(3)Jean P.
Delicious food, friendly and attentive customer service, nice clean environment. I highly recommend the appetizer with xo sauce (forgot the name) and the open rice fried rice. The first time I got boba here, I didn't like it, but the second time I tried the almond milk tea and it was delicious. The service is great! Thank you to the chefs who gave uscomplimentary crab wontons when they ran out of some of the food that we wanted.

One of the first places I went to as suggested by my brother who went to UC Davis. Overall, it is a great place to get quick and cheap asian food even at late night. I have tried multiple things here, starting with the Beef Fried Rice, which is a great item they have. Other items include Wonton Noodle Soup, Salt and Pepper Spareribs, Shrimp and Creamed Corn Over Rice, and Crab Wontons. They also have a nice selection of boba that come in weirdly satisfying fat cups. Sure, the place probably has some items that are sub par, as do many other places. But from my experience, it has only been positive. Beef fried rice is great, a simple no fuss fried rice with nice chunks of tender beef. The Wonton Noodle soup has great portions for its price, plus it has pork as well. Chow fun is also delicious as well as their Kimchi Fried Rice with a sunny side up egg MMMMMM. This place is one of my go to joints for getting quick take out food, even at late nights, and on certain nights they don't close until 3am which is awesome. Food is great, not exceptional, but great for the price, so I give it a 4 star.
(5)Miles P.
Still one of the best spots downtown. I've finally gotten myself to try new dishes (the first few I ever got were so good, I just kept getting those) and they are all great. Cream Corn over Rice and Kung Pao are the new highlights for me. Also recently tried the calamari-- if you like jalepenos as much as I do me, you'll love this also. They also now do a 2 for $5 beer deal, which is a super sweet deal given their legit beer selection. 21st Amendment, Mirror Pond and other micros on tap. I also love that one side of the room has Food Network and the other has ESPN... depending on what you want to watch, you can sit on either side of your table! Service was great when the opened and still is. Lots of place will kind of slip once they get thing established, but not here.
(5)James Y.
Plainly a disappointment. I went to go eat with a friend who was enthusiastic about the place, but I regret going. I ordered the popcorn chicken and the beef fried rice. I got the popcorn chicken relatively fast, but unfortunately, it was bland. I had to compensate for the lack of flavor by submerging each piece into sriracha sauce. After a long wait without receiving my fried rice, I went up to ask how much longer for my order. They forgot about it. Very unprofessional. When I finally received my rice, I saw a glaze of oil over it, with each bite being extremely oily. I'd rather use my money on PanEx. Pros -Relatively fast with orders (IF THEY REMEMBER) -Accepts aggiecash Cons -Bland chicken -extremely oily rice. (DARK soysauce color as well) -Disappointing asian cuisine.
(2)Mel K.
Ordered the salt and pepper calamari, kimchee fried rice and honeydew milk tea. When the s&p calamari came out it looked depressing. A few pieces of fried calamari and a bit of sprinkled salt and white pepper.. Green onions and jalapeños were on the bottom. Where was the fried garlic? Where was the flavor? Disappointing. The kimchee fried rice was okay, a bit too sour for my taste. The honeydew milk tea was alright as well, it came in a huge, thick cup.. I couldn't finish it. Bf said it tasted like the smell of armpit.. Whatever that means. Lol . Maybe I'll give this place another try since they are open until 3am and the prices are reasonable.
(2)Abigail L.
The calamari wasn't bad. It was the stereotypical chinese style calamari deep fried with some jalapenos and salt and pepper. The service was okay and it was one of those places where you order and sit down with your number and they bring out the food. I had a bite of my friends salty fish fried rice which was okay but my friend ordered the house special that I had a bite of that just tasted weird. The sauce tasted like bad oyster sauce with soy sauce. Overall I probably wouldnt be back just because I dont care for rice and the calamari wasnt good enough that I would want to come back.
(3)Lillian D.
Horrible. It's like...going to Taco Bell in search of authentic Mexican food. It may be worth noting that it's a Chinese restaurant owned by Hispanic people and run by Caucasians. At least that's what it appeared. I'm not saying that non-Chinese people absolutely cannot make good Chinese food. But read on and see why I brought up this point. After a Jack & Coke at Cafe Bernardo's, I had a mad hankering for some warm food. I decided to try out Open Rice after hearing good things about it from a friend earlier in the day. It was about 1am when I walked in. The place was very clean and visually appealing, with a few stragglers sitting here and there. I ordered shrimp dumplings (ha gao), which were 4 for $2.95. That's expensive! I waited about 20 minuted for my 4 dumplings. When I finally opened my take out box, I found 4 half-cooked shrimp dumplings with obvious freezer-burn marks on the dumpling skin. Dude. You don't make me wait 20 minutes for half-cooked dumplings from the freezer. Need I say more about the dumplings and their taste? Okay, why not... They tasted like half-cooked dumplings made with plastic erasers and week-old shrimp. The ONE star is for the friendly service. Everyone there was very polite and courteous. Just for that, maybe I'll give them a second chance someday. Good service goes a LONG way.
(1)Aaron H.
My wife and I enjoy this place a lot. Good food for the relatively inexpensive price. We like their teas also. TV's with ESPN usually on is a plus. Just wish they had more options for food.
(4)Kristin B.
Pros: Big portions, lots of deals on OptTown, has red bean blizzards, self serve drinks and sauces, serves alcohol, TVs (always showing Food Network for some reason) Cons: Spicy doesn't always mean spicy and I'm not a fan of the atmosphere. Basically I like the food, but I'd rather get it to go and eat at home.
(4)Erica Y.
Service was good, but food was...hum...just "fine." Kimchi fried rice was not really good as I expected, maybe because the rice was not Korean style... and Orange chicken was also just fine...but I couldn't finish it because the sauce was too strong, and I felt I didn't want to finish it...
(3)Casey B.
This place isn't great but it is a good place to go for lunch because their service is really fast. I usually order the 'Over Rice' option where you get to choose a type of sauce and meat option. The only annoying thing about this place is the girl who takes your order. She is really incompetent and has a bad attitude. Also, this place accepts Aggie Cash and their milk tea is actually good, but a little on the pricey side for the size.
(3)Nick P.
What a nice little place. Tremendously affordable, tasty, and actually pretty healthful (assuming you shop carefully of course), this little walk in counter is a good resource for downtown. Anecdotally, I had the mongolian chicken, girl had the chow fun, and we split some of the VERY tasty garlic pepper calamari. Throw in a couple of sodas and we were out the door for under $25.00 with leftovers to spare, so kudos all around. I would be curious how it looks late-night, as this place is bar proximal and would have been highly tempting to me during my younger, more pickled days.
(4)Meghan L.
I actually thought this place would be better. well first the service got our order wrong and we had to correct it and still it came out wrong. Second the food was not that great. i ordered the soft scramble with shrimp over rice and a friend did soft scramble with chicken over noodles. This was very bland and didn't have flavor at all. my friend got the Mongolian beef and was too salty. The only thing i thought was good was the chicken wings which they just fried and then put the sweet chili sauce over it. The calamari was alright, but it was in huge pieces and no sauce for it. it was bland by itself. i would not recommend going here.
(1)George G.
I don't know why all the negative ratings. I think the food is fine, the portions are huge, and the price is reasonable. The only complaint I have is that it can take a long time to get the food and the place is pretty noisy, but hey, it's a college town. Oh, Yeah, one more problem: the link to their website is dead. Bummer.
(4)Danielle B.
I decided to go downtown, and try a place I had never been to before and decided on Open Rice Kitchen, and I was not disappointed. I got some of their shrimp fried rice and it was really good! The guy who took my order also served me my food and he could not have been more friendly, nicer, or more hospitable. The dining area was kept neat and clean, there were no un-bussed tables, there were people their studying or just out with their families, and it was just a nice and calm atmosphere. My only negative comment was that I thought they charged a little much for some of their simpler dishes, but other than that it was great place to eat at!
(4)Jason A.
I'm not hard to impress when it comes to Chinese food because.... well it's Chinese food and is kinda hard to mess up. Anyway, I ordered the black bean chow fun and spring rolls tonight and it all tasted pretty bad. The chow fun tasted like it was cooked in a wok that had a bunch of food burnt to the bottom of it with a hint of something very sour. The spring rolls taste like they were bought from the grocery store and that is all i have to say about that. After tasting the food I looked around the joint and saw that nobody was eating and all had a bunch of food left on their plate, I'm not saying it was because of the food but as a customer it's a bad sign. So if you are in Davis looking for some Chinese food and stumble across this place, keep walking.... Unless you're drunk and all your senses are completely numb and you're hungry then by all means fulfill your hunger pains, they're open late.
(2)Christine S.
Awesome service, very happy people, sort of blah food. It was ready very quickly but the rice was a little bland and so was my order. Great location though, and may come back again to try a different dish because the people were so great.
(3)Tao W.
It offers simple, clean and tasteful Chinese food (mostly Cantonese style). The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant offers a clean and comfortable setting, with a few TVs installed on the wall for entertainment.
(5)Frederick A.
Pretty neat place, I ordered the beef fried rice and it definitely looked like something that I can make easliy. The taste is off to the salty side (too much soy sauce) It does taste better than OTH imo. Portion wise... I would say it is no the small side I was definitely hungry after a plate of rice. Oh! Their PLATE was big, food was small =/
(3)Tom M.
Food was great for the price, noodles are great and honey walnut shrimp was excellent. Great service even late night.
(4)Alex W.
So I have now been here twice. One earlier in the week and the 2nd time just yesterday. The first time I went here, I got the kimchi fried rice. The 2nd time I got the Satay Beef over rice (plain) along with the popcorn chicken. Kimchi fried rice: Pros: Good portion. Definitely hot/warm when it came out (indicating it was made recently and not microwaved food). Cons: The kimchi taste wasn't very strong. I definitely prefer having a stronger kimchi taste if I wanted kimchi fried rice. Also, it is stated as spicy, but it was not spicy at all for me. (Subjective) Satay Beef over rice (plain rice): Pros: The satay sauce came out tasting great and hot (indicating it was made recently and not microwaved). In-between: The beef - some pieces tasted better than others. What I mean is that some pieces tasted like genuine beef that were not tenderized, while other pieces did taste like tenderized meat. To me, not tenderized meat is better as it gives a better taste. Cons: The portion was much smaller than the kimchi fried rice. The rice was verging on warm and cold - some portions of the rice were cold, while other portions were warm. Popcorn chicken: Pro: First few bites tastes good, but the taste started going bad after I ate half the plate. I believe this is due to the amount of frying oil I ate from the popcorn chicken. Cons: The pieces themselves had very little meat and several pieces were just batter pieces. The only pieces with meat were the larger pieces. Overall: The place is definitely nice. The decor looks nice, the place has comfortable seating, and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely give this place another try - either try something I've had already before or something new. Note: They don't always open on time I believe. I went to eat at 11:00 am yesterday, but they didn't open until 11:30am - even though the store said they open at 11:00am. Perhaps it was just that day, but just a heads-up to everybody that wants to try them out.
(4)Louis Y.
This place is very convenient for their business hours other than that the food is alright. My favorite would be their open rice kitchen fried rice . If you go past midnight on Thursday or Friday , there is a huge chance you will encounter drunk people walking down and talking loud which is very annoying at some point.
(3)Wes K.
This is the first and last time I will wait for 4 hours for food. I decided to come to Open Rice Kitchen for the birthday anniversary event to order some yummy food before going to a friend's place to study. I came in at 7:40PM and left the place at 11:40PM. It's unacceptable to make someone wait that long for kimchi fried rice and popcorn chicken. The food was really mediocre even for Davis standards. I really expected a little bit better. I'm DONE with this place.
(1)Sannie L.
My standards are slightly higher than normal for Chinese food (because I'm Chinese) and this place left me disappointed. I've ordered their kimchi fried rice and spicy eggplant before and both were not particularly good. The fried rice was pretty bland. The eggplant wasn't cooked enough for my taste and the sauce was too sweet. Their hot and sour soup felt like there was something missing. However, they have super cheap prices, large portions, and are open late, making them a good place to go after barhopping, or just when you need some grub late at night. The service is excellent and they work hard to make sure you enjoy your time at the restaurant, even if you're just ordering take out.
(3)Ruben A.
Ordered my food to go, and it was ready FAST. The facilities are kept clean and the food is good. They also have very reasonable prices.
(4)Hannah L.
It's been so hot recently that as you stroll around Davis, you're always looking to cool-off with a cold drink. Craving pearl tea, but not wanting to go all the way to Quickly, the bf and I decided to stop by Open Rice Kitchen and grab some drinks to go. We haven't tried the food yet and will definitely update once I do, but the drinks here weren't too bad. The service is real great though! The workers here are very nice. We ordered the cantalope and watermelon snow and it was refreshing but just average. I really like how they do take card, since most pearl tea/snack places don't. Open Rice Kitchen is open late, so I will definitely be back to try their menu!

The front view looking in from the door on the outside doesn't look entirely inviting--all you really see is a brick wall. However, per a suggestion from a friend, I came here to check it out. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered popcorn chicken and a milk green tea. If you're a milk tea fan, let me warn you--don't order the milk tea. It wasn't very flavorful at all, so not worth trying when you have 3 other options for milk tea in Davis. The freshness of the popcorn chicken definitely surprised me. It came out steaming hot and once you bit into a piece, you knew right away that they used newer oil. The breading wasn't excessive and each piece had a great crunch to it without being overly oily like many other milk tea establishments. Also crazy fact--they only use breast meat for their popcorn chicken, so that was nice. Only downside to that is the chicken tends to get a little dry without the fat from the usual thigh meat to keep it moist. Quite delicious though. As Mendel L. mentioned, Open Rice Kitchen is like a Chinese version of Thai Canteen since it's a great place for an inexpensive casual meal. The staff are also super nice! Great customer service there :) My friends got a couple of the different entrees, and all of them liked their food, so I'll have to come back to try their other dishes. Definitely worth a try for their food, not so much for their drinks.

The vegetarian spring rolls are SO good.

This place rocks! Open very late on the "party" nights, inexpensive. I always get the "Over Rice," which is your choice of meat or tofu plus veggies and your choice of sauce. The food is very good and the servers are friendly. Convenient location on G st. in downtown Davis. Big portions, i usually get my order to go. Service is fast. Highly recommended.

Richard Pro here with another review. I came here with high expectations. I had heard good things about this place, the service was excellent, the interior was clean, prices were very cheap, countertops were brand new and looking great. I was expecting top notch Chinese food, at least, in terms of Davis standards. I couldn't have been more disappointed. The popcorn chicken was like eating rocks. It's bland, tasteless, has no alluring aroma, and has a ridiculously thick fried layer, like croutons. The two dim sum options (ha gao and siu mai) tasted atrocious. Words cannot describe how atrocious the dim sum was (I tried the dim sum, in fact, especially for this review. I was already expecting something of a lower quality at the time). I got very old, stale rice for my main dish. It was unbelievably terrible and dry rice. Your food is piping hot and fresh, which is perhaps the only plus. I disagree with painting on bricks for the interior design--everyone knows brick is completely outdated. Open Rice Kitchen, in the end, feels old instead of modern and hip. One star because this place is a flop. Davis has very little Chinese food and very few places open late, and ORK does both. Unfortunately, it messes up spectacularly when it could have beat the competition so easily. The recent newcomers to Davis like Thai Canteen and Pho King have outshined expectations and crushed old established locations. It's sad to see that ORK can't do the same.

I've never eaten here - only purchased beer. And I'm telling you, they have GREAT BEER and amazing prices! Like, and its quiet, plus free wi-fi. If you just want a drink and to chat, PERFECT PLACE. They have such a good beer selection and such great prices, I cannot say enough that that alone is a reason to go here. Maybe someday I'll try the food.....

Had an awesome dinner there tonight, friendly owners! there were four adults and two kids.. Great price, great food! We all shared our plates, beef chow fun, orange chicken, chicken thai basil, chicken fried rice and the talk of the table the potstickers! There was more than enough for lunch tomorrow! I would not hesitate to tell someone to go grab a quick meal over there. Can't wait to go back!

One of the more authentic Chinese food places in Davis. Came here with a few girlfriends for lunch last week. Price was great and quite a variety on the menu. You order/pay at the register and then someone will bring you the food. I had the thai basil chicken, and the girls ordered the won ton noodle soup and the kimchi fried rice. My dish was very flavorful (love thai basil) and the chicken was super tender. The won ton noodle soup was huge for $5 and not bad. The kimchi fried rice could have been better but it wasnt bad either. Would definitely come back when I'm craving chinese food and for the portion sizes (had enough for lunch the next day!)
(4)Elise W.
I've now been here two nights this week. Finally tried the kimchi fried rice, which was fresh, original, and very tasty. I also had the thai basil chicken (I know a lot of food). This was also very good and was the perfect amount of food! Had to get a beer too!
(4)Amber W.
Not bad. We had the potstickers and ha-moon. The pork is more like sliced deli meat ham. it looks like they specialize in fried rice so we may go back to try that.
(3)Frank L.
Nice place. Setting is bad in evening..sunlight gets very annoying. Food was ok. Overall an okay place. Their registers sucks. Cashiers are rude. Service sucks, they didn't let me order chicken with eggplants, so I had to order within the menu. Orders took forever.

Excellent Singapore Noodles.
(3)Will S.
It's a good restaurant! I've only been the one time but my veggies and tofu over rice were so fresh and delicious! I had them with the black bean sauce and I asked for the heat to be amped up because i love spicy food. It was great. We also had the salt and pepper calamari and it was perfect! Good flavor and crispyness without being too oily. The server was super nice. Very attentive.
(4)Sam B.
The portions were generous. The service was quick and efficient. The food, Singapore Spicy (?), was all right. The only thing that stood out was the pork which tasted like spam.

3 words: Kimchi Fried Rice. I don't usually eat out a lot (because I'm a broke college student like the most of us here), but my friends want to get something to eat, we sometimes go to Open Rice Kitchen JUST for the kimchi fried rice. The price and portion size is good, service is usually fast, it's open late, and there's wifi so you can save some of that 4G you've been using up. They also have good boba here for the price. They use fat cups like Purple Kow. I usually get taro, almond and matcha green tea and haven't been disappointed once. Definitely a place that all UC Davis students should try at least once!
(4)Fiona C.
I come here with my friends all the time for fried rices and milk teas! My favorite dishes: chicken fried rice and the salty fish fried rice. Favorite drinks: I actually haven't tried them all but I love the matcha green tea and the their black milk tea is the best I've had. Sometimes they have 1/2 off for the milk teas too, gotta look out for them! The best thing about this place is that they open late :p
(5)Tom S.
I frequent ORK because it's very inexpensive, quick to order, has large portions and is open SUPER late. The environment is pretty good to study in as well Their patay and special fried rice are among my favorites. They do also have slushes and boba, which I find to be really good, and a 2 for $5 beer special Also, unlike other places (canteen, teahouse) there's no credit card limit. And if you're stumbling out of G st after midnight I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
(4)Lina Z.
Happened to be walking by looking for somewhere to eat, looked at the menu in the window, and was immediately drawn in by the prices. So cheap!! I'm not sure why some reviewers thought it was a little expensive. For the large portions they give you, people really should not be complaining about price of all things. When I ate here, it was during UCD's winter break, so it was pretty empty, but this place is clearly intended as a sort of college student establishment serving quick, affordable meals. And I feel like I got exactly what I paid for. I ordered: 1) Crab wonton appetizer - Not bad because anything fried is yummy, but needed more seasoning. 2) Satay chow fun with chicken - Pretty typical noodle stir fry. I enjoyed the rice noodles and the overall flavor, but something about the pineapple in it was rancid or off. 3) Milk tea with boba! - Very satisfying beverage complement to the meal. I was by no means blown away, but I can see myself coming back here. It is also one of the rare establishments in Davis that is open past midnight. =) In terms of the service and staff, the cashier/waitress girl who works here seemed strangely nervous...not sure why. The chef seemed pretty cool though. When we were leaving, I saw him take out a big tub of ground pork mix and sit down to make wontons. I thought that was pretty legit, because it reminded me of my parents making them at home. So at least I know their wontons, potstickers, etc. are made fresh in the restaurant.

Strolling around downtown trying to find somewhere to eat, my boyfriend and I found Open Rice Kitchen and remembered they take aggie cash now! We walked in, and there were about 5-6 others in there. I ordered the Open Rice Kitchen special fried rice, almond milk tea, and my boyfriend ordered the popcorn chicken and lychee slush. Boba without an extra charge!~ It took a while for our order and others to arrive but I felt bad since there were only two people working, and there's a hiring sign in the front. My milk tea was decent but I preferred the lychee slush. Popcorn chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly. My fried rice was slightly bland but some sriracha fixed it and I liked it.
(3)Sabina C.
I went there the other day and I absolutely loved their teas! I had their milk black tea, and i can honestly say that it is the best place to get it. I am vegetarian so not many options, but I tried the kim chi fried rice and ordered an item without the meats and it still tasted pretty good. The kim chi was a little spicy, but still really good!
(4)Mikey K.
I had the Wonton Soup w/Noodles and the Black Bean Style pan fried noodle with chicken. It was a to go order and the soup was a bit bland and the pan fried noodles a bit salty. Cheap price, good food, good service. What else can you ask for in a restaurant?
(4)Todd K.
I can sum this place up in 5 words. The chipotle of asian food.
(2)Daniel S.
I was excited to see a new restaurant in downtown that is open late! I read the menu and it looked semi-asian. I ordered the beef and egg over rice and it was just plain nasty. I went for a second time because my organization was having an event there. I ordered the wonton soup ($5). It was decent but this place is not a real Asian restaurant. They probably get a lot of business from people with drunchies after the bars. What a waste of a prime spot to be serving mediocre asian food!
(2)Pauleen T.
Now my favorite Chinese fast food place in Davis. Prices are INCREDIBLY cheap but the quality of the food far surpasses that. A friend and I ordered two appetizers to split, thinking we'd go someplace else after and just get a bunch of apps for dinner. Big surprise, the $4 plates were generously portioned and filled us right up. The crab cheese wontons came out piping hot and the filling had chunks of imitation crab meat. They were yummy, but I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet and sour sauce. It tasted just like my dad's sweet and sour, which consists of him heating ketchup in a saucepan and adding sugar. And I didn't believe him when he said that he used to be a chef in a chinese restaurant.... We also had the popcorn chicken, extra spicy. It came out with just enough spice for me, but my friend (Indian) thought it was too mild. The quality of the chicken was WAY better than Old Tea House, however. I think it was all chunks of breast meat and although it was deep fried, it wasn't overly greasy at all! Definitely coming back again and again. I really like the idea of a mix and match entree system where you choose a style (general tso's, orange, black bean, etc.) and a protein. Very veg friendly! Milk tea is great too
(4)Amy T.
ever since my first time at open rice kitchen, i've gone back several time. Each time a slight disappointment, the food hasn't improved. After the first time, I came back for some hong kong pan fried noodles with some satay beef. It was super salty and the pan fried noodles was not even fried. A later visit after this, I got to try their hot & sour soup and the orange chicken, even though portions were a decent size. The soup was more sour than hot and they didn't have a equal portion of the ingredient and the soup. As for the orange chicken, it tasted like chicken strips dipped in orange sauce. and i quote my housemate " i rather eat at panda express!"
(2)Leticia F.
This place was okay. Too much fat on the meat. The cream cheese pot stickers were bomb. It was cheap. My daughter and I both got meat over rice. Just way too much fat. I am not sure I will ever go back here. The staff was very friendly.
(2)Jay R.
Stopped by here a few times because I parked near ACE at night on my way to Ket/Red 88. The food here is nothing special, but major props for the late hours, prices, and friendly staff.
(3)Tiffany T.
Came here twice and both times were a fail! My first time was after a drunken night at ketmoree. We decided to step outside of the box and came here aside from going to our usual, Red88 to tame our munchies. My friend and I ordered the calamari, and two snow bubble- I had the green apple one and she ordered the lychee. The drinks were really sugary so I didnt even finished it. As for the calamari it was horrible! I completely understand that this a new resturant therefore they can make mistakes in their food but I honestly don't think that messing up and burning a simply appetizing dish such as fried calamari is a legit excuse! Our calamari was dark brown and when my friend askd if this is how fried calamari are supposed to look like (with a tone of sarcasm) all she got was a "yes" -- but of course she was being a tat rude so I should apologize for that on her behalf. Nonetheless, I believe that this has the be the worst fried calamari I have ever eatten and I have tried alot of places from different cities, too. O f course I didn't wanted to rate the restaurant on just an appetizer and some boba drinks-- which I both tremendously do not recommend. I came back with another friend for a late lunch. We were both under the weather and wanted something warm and flavorful . We yelped and saw the delicious bowl of shrimp wonton noodle soup that someone posted and it lure us in. The portion is huge and you get 4 decent sized shrimp wontons with a few pieces of BBQ pork and 2 big pieces of bok Choy. If I were rate this on the presentation they would get an 8 but right when I took a sip of the soup, i immediately felt my sense of disappointment stream through me. It was incredibly bland. The soup tasted like sesame oil in hot boiled water. My friend and I poured soysauce into our soup and tried to finish all the meat and wonton to make our food worthy. Will never come here again regardless of how much recommendation I have received for their rice dishes.

Come here for your Beef Chow Fun fix. Ordered to-go, and it was ready for me, piping hot when I arrived. Good service. Very nice owner and chef.
(4)Crystal W.
Their crab cream cheese wontons are SO YUMMY. They do come out slightly too oily, but you can tell the oil they use to fry the wontons are super fresh because the wontons are a light gold. Just soak up the excess oil with a couple of napkins and there you go - the best fried wontons in Davis! I'll be coming back for these... Their other foods are a bit disappointing, especially the orange chicken. It's not the usual sauce-drenched flavorful stuff and is on the crustier/flour-y side with very little sauce. It looked and tasted like popcorn chicken, which was unexpected. At least the chicken was all breast meat, and the meat itself wasn't dry. Their beef chow fun wasn't memorable in any way. I had to drench it in Siracha sauce for more flavor, but at least it was edible and well priced (see their menu pictures). Service is pretty good! Employees are really friendly. The two times I've been here with people (once to try the place, second time for the wontons), the employees cheerfully greeted me and checked on our table during our meal. As other people said, their drinks aren't that great. I think they need to figure out their ratios better, because the flavors and the sugar levels are somewhat variable and the tea to milk ratio was pretty bad. My honeydew milk tea with boba tasted more like watered-down tea than a milk tea. Their boba isn't particularly good either because of the consistency. +2 for the super awesome wontons. +1 for good service.

This place has nice seatings, my friends and I came here in the morning around when it opened. There wasn't much people in the morning so our orders came pretty quickly. We ordered Strawberry black tea, milk tea, lychee slush, salted fish & chicken fried rice, and soft scrambled egg with beef over rice. The salted fish & chicken fried rice was a bit oily, fish was a bit too salty, and chicken bits were cut bigger than usual, but overall it was pretty good. The soft scrambled egg with beef over rice tastes good; beef was cut bite size so it was easy to chew, and the eggs were soft. The milk tea was not as sweet compared to other places such as quicklys, but since I don't like things that are too sweet it tasted just right for me. According to my friends, the strawberry black tea and lychee tea were good, but had alot of ice.

I've now been here two nights in a row for dinner. Coming from San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles, I am pretty picky with asian food. They hit most of the flavors spot on and everything is very fresh. Most asian places like this can get really heavy and greasy and wear you down after eating. But not here. Some favorites: kimchi fried rice, beef fried rice, chow fun, hot and sour soup. I always grab a boba for the drive home too!
(5)Payal P.
I think I found my new late night snack place. This place is open til 3 AM!! Recently they had their boba half price for the beginning of the school year and I definitely took advantage. I tried their Mango, strawberry, and taro milk teas with boba. My favorite was mango, strawberry was okay and I didn't really like the taro. It had a coconut flavor, which I am not a fan of. I might try the others but mango is currently my favorite. For food I tried their Kimchi fried rich (added shrimp) and it was good. I feel like it may have been a little over priced but It was still good. Their wonton soup though... that has like no flavor AT ALL. There were minimal noodles, broth didn't taste like anything, the vegetables weren't clean, and the wontons were really mushy. I do not recommend it at all. I got spring rolls with this and I liked the spring rolls more!! The spring rolls were actually pretty good. The reason i give this four stars is because their Singapore style noodles are DELICIOUS!! honestly that's all I'm going to get from this point on in terms of entrees. It was spicy, just the way I like it and comes with a lot of shrimp, though not as much pork. You have to try this dish if you go to open rice!!I I'll be back for the singapore noodles and mango milk tea! And them spring rolls!!
(4)Ricky K.
I got scrambles egg beef over chow fun. The noodles were bland and not fried like the name suggests. The eggs were undercooked, and I saw a hint of gelatin, gross. It's a shame because the inside decor is so nice. I wish the food quality would match the interior. The store was also pretty empty.
(1)Jade R.
3.5 stars (they really need to get a .5 stars thing on yelp) The prices were great, the food was pretty good, and the portions were HUGE. I actually really liked this place :D The atmosphere was nice and casual, but clean. The waitress was great and super friendly AND helpful since I had no idea what to order for 2nd dinner (yes, I went here for dinner after I just ate dinner). The reason why it's not 4 stars is because I felt like the dishes were quite hit or miss. I tried my friend's fried rice thing (forgot what kind of fried rice it was), and I didn't like it. I did, however, really enjoy my kimchi fried rice. It was simple, yet delicious. :D I think that there are definitely strong and weak dishes here. You have to know what to order!
(3)David O.
This is strictly a review on take out, but I can't imagine it being much different from dining at the actual restaurant. Its fast and cheap. The food is decent and I would say that its worth the money on a lazy day. We had the Thai basil with chicken which came out pretty tasty, the Ha-moon noodle which was decent, and the fried calamari which was a disappointment (the pieces were too large, not properly battered, and drenched in oil). Portions are sizable. I wouldn't call it an Asian fusion place but rather a somewhat more trendy Chinese restaurant. If you're hungry for Chinese food, this is a good place to go, if not, don't bother. Though I'm very curious about their XO rice noodles with their house sauce.
(2)Jasmine H.
Since this is a restaurant, lets start off with the food. The food is a great deal for the price! Really. I am on a college student budget and I don't feel robbed here. I personally like their popcorn chicken and beef over rice with house sauce. It's good. The boba here is pretty decent. I'm not a huge fan of Old Tea House so I go here for their boba as well as their food. I only order one kind [Honeydew] every time so I can't say if the rest of their selection is terrific. My roommate likes their Green Matcha Tea with boba though. Every boba drink comes in this cute bucket cup. I see comments complaining that they're inefficient; however, you get A LOT for a small price. Plus, THEY'RE CUTE. What more can you ask for? Okay . . . here's the bad part: THE SERVICE. There's this one cashier/waitress that would never smile. Like seriously, never. It seems like she doesn't want to be there. On the first day, I thought that she was having a rough day so I didn't look into that as much. However, every single freaking time I come back, her face still looks exactly the same - pissed off. I don't know, maybe she's born with that face and she can't help it, or she has a bad day every time I come [which is very unlikely]. Either ways, I don't like how she would slam my roommate and my bobas down on the table or frisbee throw our dishes. Due to the service, I take ONE STAR OFF. To conclude, this place is wonderful for their food and their inexpensive bobas but, be aware of the service from her . . . I think her name is Melissa. By the way, if you hate flies like me, come at night. There's little to none.
(4)Daniel Y.
Ordered the wonton noodle soup, the beef chow fun and the kimchee fried rice and milk tea boba. The staff was very friendly, but the food was bland and the boba not good. Definitely not a place for the kids as all the tvs had either mma or boxing on. Will not go again.
(1)Food S.
I came here tonight to sample some dishes. This restaurant was very clean and the wait staff were very friendly and cheerful. I tried some of the dishes mentioned by other Yelpers. I did enjoy the beef chow fun and the wonton soup. I also had the basil chicken over rice which was actually very good. Having said that, the restaurant was fairly dead on a Sunday night. I think the owner needs to: 1. Speed up the cooking process. 2. Advertise. 3. Sell beers by the pitcher. Open Rice Kitchen will do well when students find out about its very late closing time. Furthermore, the delicious and authentic dishes are definitely worth eating.
(4)Cynthia Y.
Gave this place a try after only hearing about it through Facebook (what happens when you graduate from UCD)! It's very new and located conveniently downtown on G Street amongst all the other bars and restaurants. It's quite spacious and there are TVs all around which make it a nice place to eat and socialize. I had the kimchi fried rice and tried the fish ball noodle soup and the salted fish and chicken fried rice. The portions were huge which is definitely a plus, especially because everything's relatively cheap. I only wish the kimchi fried rice was a little spicer, but otherwise it was quite good. The other two dishes were decent as well, but nothing special. I think most people realize that good Chinese food in Davis is hard to come by. Most of the Chinese restaurants in town serve Americanized Chinese food that's often greasy and not at all representative of what real Chinese food is. However, I liked Open Rice Kitchen and if I were to judge it against the other Chinese restaurants in Davis, I'd probably give it a 3.5 or 4 stars just because it's cheap, decent, and has large portions. But because this is Yelp, I'm going to judge it against other places outside Davis and stick with 3 stars. It's a good place to grab some food and has that fast food option of paying at the counter (a godsend for anyone like me who hates figuring out how to split the bill) so it's definitely a great addition to downtown Davis.
(3)Fontane L.
Great value! I love their Singapore noodles, beef chow fun, and corn over rice. The only thing I haven't liked is the eggplant dish - it's rather bland. Definitely a good place to go to if you're too tired to cook for the night.
(4)Michelle M.
I love their kimchi fried rice because it's not too spicy for me and the portions are really good for the price! It's also a great place to study and it's awesome that I can come here for a late night snack!
(5)Mai M.
$1 boba is amazing! Such a big bowl. People say it's watered down, but I don't taste it! It's really good.
(4)Vikee L.
Great Chinese food with fast service. it's a "sit down" restaurant but you pay up front so it's perfect for lone-eaters or for grad-&-go. For what you're paying, their food quality is very high, good portion size as well. Their menu sounds similar to panda express or quickly's but they are definitely cooked more authentic Chinese style! I love their Orange chicken - sour enough (avoid if you can't handle vinegar), lightly battered, and not too sweet! Their beef chow fun is not bad, compared to quickly's, it is in smaller portion. Their Kimchi fried rice was good, don't expect too much though, it is what is sounds like but not overly sour or salty. Singapore style vermicelli and Ha-Moon vermicelli were not bad! they taste pretty close to what it's supposed to be, way better than quicklys'. Although the Ha-moon vermicelli was on the wet side. Their boba milk tea is alright. I prefer milk tea with better tea taste but if you're looking for a milk tea quick fix, it'll do the work. Will definitely come back to try more food!
(4)Keith R.
HAVE AGAIN: the salted fish rice and chow fun were very good. Nice place.
(4)Letitia Z.
I was very happy to hear that there is a new Asian restaurant open til 3am!!! Went their for the first time, was not very satisfied. Their walnut shrimp is different from other restaurants, but no good! It's kinna like small shrimps with a thick layer of flour -_- disappointed at the walnut shrimp for sure, way too americanized. Anyway their ork fried rice, calamari, and cream cheese wonton is really good! Def try those :D and the kimchi fried rice is pretty good too for its price :D
(3)Eva P.
Love it here!! First time, the guys at the order station AWESOME AND NICE, for sure coming back, I think this is my new fav place, I'm SO FULL....there is ONLY ONE ISSUE THUS FAR - this guy here is a dodger fan....i won't hold it against you lol
(5)Minah L.
I really like the tomato beef and soft scrambled egg with noodle. its so much food for only 5$. please change the peas though they taste like cup of noodle peas! Girl that works here said they serve food on paper plates after 11pm on thur fri sat and after 9pm on sun mon tues wed. she said it was so they dont run out of clean plates when its busy. but its probably because drunk people would break the plates haha.
(4)Kathleen H.
Okay food, the wait is always long. Also I have to wonder about their cleanliness many times I have gone into the restaurant only to see a plethora of flies. However the mongolian beef and the orange chicken keep me coming back. Good place, good price.
