Not a fan. Wishful thinking to find a good chinese place in covina.

First impression. Lunch special a good value. Hot and Sour a little watery. Schezwan Tofu was OK; not great. Weird that it contained lots of ground beef. Almost no vegetables. Sauce tasty but not memorable. So give the place a C+. OK if you are in the 'hood. Otherwise, pass... p.s. I've been to China 4 times... I grew up in Monterey Park.. i know my Chinese food .... don't argue w me!

I have been coming here with my family for years. The food is good, very inexpensive. Great place to hold an event as well.

Heeey this is a coool place It's Covina...whatdayaa expect in Covina... I thought that this was an exceptional place with good food. I went with a group from our work and we had quite a group...and they handled us and our table pretty good... Just a coool place to enjoy some won ton soup while your in there away from the cold and rain... Some workers are really good. The younger guy that served our table was okay. The older guy with glasses and was kind of skinny was miserable

Because of my Yelp activities, I've been wandering around lately trying places I wouldn't normally visit. Although I'm a regular at House of Louie in nearby West Covina, I'd heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try. Although this is a Cantonese restaurant, they don't have dim sum here. It's strictly menu service. I didn't try their version, but was happy to see double-cooked noodle (yee mian) on the menu, as this is something that the former owner of House of Louie would make for me from time to time among other things that weren't on their menu. I ordered black bean shrimp, beef with ginger and green onion, and their cha siu fried rice. These are all things I commonly order at House of Louie. All were strikingly similar to the versions turned out by that restaurant. Since that's pretty much my gold standard (even though they're not quite as good as years ago), this place gets my solid approval. The only criticism I have is that there were peas in the rice (which I should have asked to be omitted), but this was offset by their liberal use of garlic in the beef--a nice touch that really added to the flavor. Since this was a takeaway order, I can't say a whole lot about the service, but my food came out very quickly. The premises are a little less appealing than those of House of Louie, but the prices are accordingly lower.

CHECK YOUR BILL GUYS !!! THEY OVER CHARGED ME for a $1...i asked the waiter how they came out with the figure, he said WE ADDED TAX and he throw the menu to me, and tell me to calculate the prices by myself and just walked away!....HOW RUDE ! I WOULD NEVER COME BAK TO THIS RESTAURANT SINCE THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOU BILL BY YOURSELF.

It's between a 3 and a 3.5. Seeing a decent non 5 dollar crate of Chinese American sweet'n'sour kung pao restaurant isn't that common, so I had to really search for a decent Chinese place in the area. A friend who has lived in the area for more than several years didn't even know that this place existed! Once I found this place, I quickly became a frequent regular - at least upwards of once a week.... sorry Beijing Garden (it's a slightly further drive.... south Vincent vs. Azusa). Also, if your a good boy/girl here, you'll get some almond jello, and if you're a really good, they might give you a second help'n (I wouldn't know, but a fellow yelper would.... rhymes with "bantonio"). One other thing is the staff here is very friendly, and the service is decent . It's also a great place for large groups. I suggest the beef with preserved veg, shrimp in lobster sauce with pork, and chinese vegetables (kong sing chai).

    1. typical chinese food 2. fried rice is too salty 3. didn't love the crispy noodle chow mein 4. didn't love their honey walnut shrimp I would rather recommend Diamond Palace Restaurant of Diamond Bar or Capital Seafood Restaurant of Rowland Heights. Thus I don't think I'll eat here again :(

I loooove going here. They have great walnut shrimp and one of the best services at a Chinese restauarant. They are prompt with their food and order service. They actually refill your water on a pretty good basis, much better than Sam Woo where I have to stalk a waiter to get one. Some of the waiters even know some Tagalog (Filipino language) and use it in some fun conversation with you. We went at 7 on a Saturday night and it wasn't that busy---hopefully it's due to the economy. Although the prices aren't that cheap the size definitely matches the price. It's a good place to go considereing how much you will spend at other restaurants The reason I didn't give the place 5 stars because it's not really the ideal place to eat for 2, unless you want a lot of leftovers or you only eat like two dishes. We ordered half chicken with scallions, seafood fried rice and fried cod fillet. Especially the fish, they were delicious! They also pack your food for you. I still spend about 40 dollars but three dishes and a lot of leftovers... still a good deal.

Town Sent is undoubtably the best Chinese food restaurant in the Covina, West Covina, Azusa, San Dimas, Glendora, and Baldwin Park area. My family has been coming here since it opened, almost 10 years ago I think. The restaurant is literally next to the post office in a relatively non-discreet area of Covina. The restaurant has a pretty bad location because it's located away from the main streets. However, the restaurant is painted a pink color so you can't miss it. Parking isn't that great, on weekend nights most people end up parking at the post office. Town Sent has pink table cloth and is very clean inside. Inside the restaurant you'll find something that you won't find in 9 out 10 restaurants in the area, live seafood. So that shrimp, lobster or fish you just ordered was swimming 10 minutes ago. This actually makes all the seafood super fresh. Being Chinese, having fresh seafood is a restaurant staple. There are several foods that I always get there: -Walnut Shrimp -Sizzling Black Pepper Beef -Pork Chop with Spicy Salt -Satayed String Beans -Black pepper fish filets -Snapper with soy sauce and ginger -Peking Duck They also have an appetizer of peel and eat shrimp. The shrimp is boiled and they bring it to your table to peel and eat. It sounds bland, but it brings out the natural flavor in the shrimp and comes with a great dipping sauce. In the almost 10 years my family has been going there, I have never gotten a dish where I was disgusted. The food there is consistently good honestly. The service is also very good with friendly waiters. The owner, Ted, is very nice and will recognize you the second time you come there. To save a few bucks, try the weekday lunch specials. The plates are "dinner" sized for $5-10. You can feed 4 people for $30 easily and you'll have variety and be really full.

This is one of th best Chinese restaurants I have been to. The prices are reasonable, polite staff, ample parking. Food quality has always been good: taste is authentic Cantonese Chinese. This is no Panda Grill or other watered-down Chinese food. Order the lobster sometime and enjoy it. Of course, you cannot expect the ambiance to be "intimate" or "quiet". This place, food is served "family style" so it is expected that you share all that you order with people in your group. (But I think, during lunchtime, you can order a dish for yourself and your co-worker can order one for their own self). Can get loud, but this place is good and well known. One thing I find curious is this Chinese restaurant plays old and traditional Filipino songs. ???? What's up with that? Doesn't bother me, because I am savoring every bite.

  • Mel L.

This place can serve two types of food: Authentic Cantonese cuisine for the Asians and the generic sweet-and-sour Americanized Chinese stuff. The problem is the sauce, I think they put way too much MSG in there and every time I come home I am thirsty for hours. Definitely get the boiled shrimp (2 pounds). People love the lettuce chicken wraps but I don't get it. Place needs a renovation though, I seriously wonder how they got an "A" rating from the health dept. (I noticed there are a lot of A's in Covina, maybe the inspector is on the take?)

  • Kacy L.

I agree with all the good review: definitely the best, most authentic Chinese restaurant in Covina area, with reasonable price too for the quality. They have lunch special menu, which also comes with soup of the day & small dessert. Totally worth it, considering the area, not many can compare to this one. Unless you want to drive further to the 'real' oriental area by the 60 or 10 freeway, then it may be a different story.

I just came this place last week! I'm such a picky eater, but I decided to put my judgement of looks aside that day. I tried Egg Drop (I think that what it was called? The one with corn & egg soup), and it's good! I like their almond jello (: Good meats there as well! I will try more new food there ^^

The best Chinese food in the area. If you can't make it out to Rowland Heights or Monterey Park, this is the next best thing. The food isn't spectacular but it'll do. Many of the chicken and beef dishes use a lot of tenderizer. I recommend the squid with spicy salt, any fried rice dish, steamed fish, honey walnut shrimp.

  • george l.

I eat here at least once a week. I always get the same dish - Kung Poa Beef with raw onions and water chestnuts. The food is delicious, the service is super quick, and the price is very good. Ted and all the others are attentive and fast. I highly recommend to all, and when it comes to good food, I am a very hard critic! Do pay them a visit and tell them George referred you! If Ted is reading this review, he knows exactly who I am!

I went here with my fiance, mom and grandma on a Saturday afternoon because we were looking for a Chinese restaurant for my wedding rehersal dinner and read on Yelp that this place was good, so I thought I'd check it out. It looks just like any other Chinese restaurant, big fish tank and all. What sets this place apart is the food. We ordered honey walnut shrimp, salted green beans, house-special pan fried noodles and pork fried rice. All were very tasty and my favorite were the green beans - they were really fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of salt. I would recommend ordering those if you visit. Also, the shrimp in the honey walnut shrimp dish were big and delicious and one of the best I've tried. Although the restaurant itself is not so fancy and the parking lot is a little small, the food all but makes up for it. We've decided to have our rehersal dinner here after all.

My husband and I just finished eating here and we can't believe that it has four out of five stars here. We ordered Egg Flower soup which was decent (the vegetables were fresh but there was no flavor), Shrimp Curry, Beef with Scallions and Ginger, Chicken with Dual Mushrooms, and Lo Mein with BBQ Pork. The Lo Mein was flavorless and oily with only bean sprouts as the vegetable. I have never had BBQ Pork that was this soft and fatty. The Chicken with Dual Mushrooms was just ok, it had nice big chunks of ginger in it, with more vegetables than the Lo Mein. The Shrimp Curry was horribly gelatinous like it had come out of a can. The potatoes had the consistency of reheated baked potato and the Shrimp was extremely slimy. When we told the waiter we didn't like it, he scoffed at us and asked what we didn't like. I told him we didn't like the way it tasted, and he laughed, and then said, "well, it's curry". I would never recommend anyone to eat here, it was awful.

If you are looking for good Chinese food in the West Covina Area this is the best spot. Now, my favorite Chinese restaurants are in China Town, but if you can't make the drive out there then this will suffice. Plus, their lunch specials are one of the best in the area. (they don't apply to holidays, I just found this out today. Happy Mother's day!

Good place for Cantonese food not all the way in Monterey Park/Alhambra/etc. Town Sent serves a wide variety of chinese food, most of the dishes with very good preparation. A good rule of thumb, at least one I use, is: it can't be good Cantonese food without aquariums whence to pick food. Doesn't mean you *have* to get fish, just this is a good measure of adherence to Cantonese freshness standards. (In terms of seafood, if it wasn't killed 30 sec. or less before starting to cook it, it's not fresh.) That said, some of their dishes perform better than others. For example, their Beef Chow Fun (dry style) serves very well, but I've had better. Some other dishes like Beef with Oyster Sauce are good, but not necessarily what I'd call a 5 star dish. And some others are really good, like Walnut Shrimp. Town Sent has been in Covina for a number of years and continues to provide a decent Cantonese style restaurant without the hassle of having to drive nearly to LA to get it.

My family and i love this restaurant alot. I insist to eat the House Seafood with Crispy Chow Mein first, than eating other main food, because they are my favorite main chinese food!

I love this place. I have been going here for years! The service is excellent and the workers are friendly. My family and I have been going here since they opened and it's just one of the spots I hit when I'm in West Covina. Business is booming as they just added a new section to their restaurant. The food always tastes great. I highly recommend the fried squid, tilapia, honey walnut shrimp, and crispy noodle special. That's just a few to start off. Excellent place. 5 stars.

  • AJ R.

This place is good. I usually rate ethnic places by the amount of ethnic people present eating the food they love. We tried the orange chicken, shrimp with snow peas and fried rice. They were pretty tasty. We also tried the fried squid, which was not as chruchy as I like, but we finished it as the lightly salty and spicy flavor was addicting. Must go back to try other dishes.

Best chinese seafood around! Their crabs/lobster are awesome. Very affordable too. A must try for authentic chinese food.

I've been going here for years ever since I've been in elementary school. I love their orange beef and chicken (staple), pan fried string beans, garlic eggplant, and soooo many others. The service there is average when it's very busy, which it is most of the time, but the food is always good and makes me want more. They have good specials especially on lunch where they serve you soup and white rice for no charge. Go. There. Now!

I'm so glad to see Town Sent finally getting reviewed and with a favorable one at that. I've been a customer for years. Since it's so close to my job and my home, I've had many opportunities to eat there. The food is always excellent and the service is fast and efficient. I've never been disappointed by my meal there and the lunch time prices are amazing. You can't go wrong when you get great value for great food. You can really go to town and try and a whole lot of dishes with what you pay during the lunch rush. Some of my favorites have already been mentioned like the orange chicken and the green beans, but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything you order there.

The food and service at this restaurant is always good. My husband and I have eaten here many times with family and friends and have not been disappointed. This last time we were ordering out and they forgot to give us one of our dishes. The waiter ran out to the parking lot to flag us down.

This place is GOOD! Real chinese food in a city where one cannot find any good places. I grew up in Alhambra where there are endless amounts of chinese restaurants. When I moved to W.C. I searched high and low. Townsent is hands down the best chinese on this side of the 605 fwy! Fish fillet sauteed w/green onions and scallions, lobster and shrimp chow mein (crispy noodles) Yum! Try this place, you won't be disappointed. I'm on my way over there now;)

This is a great Chinese restaurant close to home. There is no need to go to the West San Gabriel Valley or to Rowland Heights or Hacienda Heights. The waiters are always friendly to my family and always say hello when we walk in the door. On a recent trip, I had their squid in black bean sauce, which was very tender and flavorful. For dessert, there is always room for jello - almond jello, that is.

  • Blue N.

Love Town Sent. But always need to request 'less oil less salt' when you place the order. And please, update the menu and let us try something new from time to time!

  • William K.

I don't know where you could find a better Cantonese restaurant. We had the special salt spicy squid, green onion ginger rock cod, and the VERY popular honey shrimp. It seemed as if every table ordered them. All of the dishes were fresh, flavorful, and generous. The service was superb and very courtly. We never had to ask for more water or even the containers to take home what we could not eat. They were simply provided. We have numerous Chinese restaurants near us here in Anaheim and we are frequent visitors to San Francisco. Nothing stacks up to Town Send. This is as good as it gets, and we have also sampled foods in extended stays in China and Hong Kong. We will be making the 32 miles drive again soon.

This place is so unassuming in a location not known for Chinese food. However, it's a little gem in Covina that has really good Chinese food. And I'm Chinese, so I can say that with some authority. Their menu is your standard Chinese seafood fare. Although I'm Chinese, I can't read or speak or understand Chinese (i know, i know, i need to learn), but I've grown up eating Chinese food at all the restaurants in Monterey Park, so I know good Chinese food when I taste it. Everything there is great. My favorite is their honey pork spare ribs. Not sure if that's the actual name of the item on their menu, but this dish is awesome. The pork is tender and flavorful, and covered in a tasty honey/garlic sauce. This is not a low calorie dish, so beware. Being a seafood restaurant, their dishes will vary depending on the seafood they have. They had this white crab dish that was steamed and had plenty of butter and garlic and it was awesome. They also have these large scallops on the shell which are really good as well. They also have these yee-mien noodles (or something like that) where the noodles are first fried, and then braised, so it soaks up all this flavor. These noodles can be found in other restaurants, but Town Sent's are pretty good. I've been going there for years now. My mother knows all the waiters there, and they've never disappointed.

Another local stomping ground for Edison employees. we always get the same: Honey Walnut Shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken, Black Bean Fish Filet, Stir Fry Green Bean, Orange Chicken (sometimes), & Beef Lo Mein. The place is great for groups for lunch and always consistent with their quality (a hard thing to find these days). The music always starts us making fun of the place but we always leave with smiles and full bellies. Beware though, f you try to split the check with a bunch of credit cards get ready for an argument from the waiter.

Seeing as Im very sick, with I guess its the flu, I decided to get food to feed my cold...Now anyone who knows me knows that Im extremely 'Asian' so I believe that eating Asian soups heal and American soups are really salty and thats it...So I decided I wanted a nice wonton soup but didnt want to drive far...I looked up places on yelp and found this place...So I loaded up my son and I and headed down there...The people were very friendly, the guy at the front desk even killed a beetle for me that keep buzzing around my head....LOL..Their prices were normal Chinese food prices...The food was really good..I bought shrimp wonton soup and shrimp egg foo young...I brought it home and had some really awesome white tea with it...Soooo yum yum...Theyre open til 10pm and totally worth going to again and again...

It's a decent size restaurant, not hole-in-the-wall, not dirty, just a typical Chinese restaurant. We came for lunch on Monday. The place was very crowded. We ordered the soft tofu in brown sauce and beef brisket stew out of the lunch menu. Both dishes taste very good and the portion is huge. There is enough leftover for dinner. The price is less than $6.00/dish including soup. There are so many selections just for lunch. Their menu on the website listed on Yelp is just for dinner. We will be back to try other dishes.

Some of my friends don't like this place, but I don't see why. I think it's really good! Whenever my parents want to get together with friends, we go here because it's so convenient and close to our house. We're known by the manager so we get free peanuts and pecans haahaa. I usually always order their lettuce wrap. It's so good, plus when it's the right season you gotta order steamed shrimp, if not then walnut shrimp is good too. The prices aren't that bad. The service is friendly and quick. It's usually packed with a bunch of people. They are really fast for to go also. When my mom doesn't feel like cooking we just call them up and order some fried noodles or fried rice. So convenient and good!

My mom took me to this restaurant because she said that they have the best Chinese food ever and that a lot of people from her work go there. So I went there with her. The food was pretty darn good but I really like their lemon chicken. It's the best! =) That's probably one of the entrees that stuffs my stomach there. I'd definitely go there again.

Town Sent is the only good "authentic" Chinese place in Covina/West Covina area. The place is small and is always packed (which is a good sign). The food is usually pretty good but is more geared toward patrons with Amercanized tastes. I only eat here if I'm too lazy to drive anywhere else. Sorry to the other two yelpers, but just can't give more than 3 stars.

Being Chinese, I thought this place was a disppointment. We had 2 tables and therefore ordered the same items for each table. Couldn't understand why one table got most of their food first, while the other table was still waiting for their first dish? The walnut shrimg was soggy. The orange beef was too crispy. The spicy salt pork chops used such poor quality meat...least 1/3 of each piece was fat! The chow mein was edible. The vegetables were overcooked. I ike my veggies coming out of the kitchen a bright green in color. This one came out dull olive green and lacked flavor. The fried calamari was so crispy...in a bad way. You couldn't tell it was calamari. When you bit into it, it was like a potato chip! Many reviewers said this place has the best walnut shrimp. For those of you who haven't tried Sam Woo's, walnut shrimp, they have the best thus far. The shrimp are cooked to perfection where it snaps when you bite into the shrimp. Great deal for lunch at $6.95. Again, would I come back to this place? No. I suppose you pay for what you get...cheap food with cheap quality.

I live a mile from town sent and have been going there for years. I was there couple of months ago when a friend walked in and we began to talk. He was parked in the front and i in the back. When we left he went out the front door i went out the back...he started calling me in the parking lot to come over towards the front of the parking lot and said look behind that car parked against the building...when i did I saw on the window that the restaurant grade was a C! It was a C and they had a car parked in front of it so you couldn't see it. The next day I drove back to see if the car was there and low and behold the parking lot was empty at 10 am but the car was parked against the building blocking the C. My friend called the health department and the C is bad, and supposed to be placed in the front window as people can see going in...not on the side of the building. Recently I see they got a B and it's placed on the front window. I am more upset that they thought they could just pull one over than any problem they might have had. they have always had some of the best Chinses food around these parts, but if their not washing their hands they can keep it.

large portions for a decent price but still not my favorite. Food could have been way better even though the price was cheap. The service was decent. I had to wait a long time for my food depsite the place being empty. Service could have been way better as well but I will let fly since I did get take out.

i had been craving their egg fu young (sp?) for weeks. we opted for take out because it's always freakin packed. we ordered 5 items from the lunch menu because we figured the portions might be smaller. we had the fried squid with spicy salt, bbp pork fried rice, shrimp egg foo/fu young, shrimp with lobster sauce, and bean sprouts with three kinds of meat. we get there and waited another 10 mins. we didn't mind cuz we figured at least the food will be hot n fresh and since it's so packed, the food just has to be good. we were anticipating a lunch worth the wait. until we got home. first box i opened was the squid. good portion and it looked good. but looks were deceiving. bf said it was too salty and when i took a bite of one, it was like cold already. then i opened my shrimp egg ... and it was not. due to the misunderstanding of the guy who took my order, i did not get my egg foo/fu. it was merely shrimp srammbled eggs. yes, in essence it's the same, but w/o the egg foo sauce. needless to say i was already freakin pissed and hadn't even opened all the boxes. next box was steamed rice, and there was a shytload. then was my bbq pork fried rice. that looked good. then my bean sprouts. love me some bean sprouts. and lastly...beef w/ brocolli?? wth?? i ordered shrimp w/ lobster sauce!! motherfokkers! i should have checked my order before we left, but there was no space int he waiting area and we were already too freakin hungry to even think to check. i would have gone back, but it was too far to drive and i was too freakin hungry. i was so mad i could barely enjoy my lunch. i only ate the bean sprouts and fried rice. i picked at a few shrimps from the eggs and i tried the beef brocolli but it was too garlicy for my taste. i was so disappointed. and not to mention i'm still craving that egg foo young. maybe after time has passed i'll consider going back and ordering my egg foo during dinner hours since it's on the dinner menu and not the lunch menu. but yeah. fokkin aye man. fokkin aye.

Our family comes here about maybe once a month. It's like our go to Chinese restaurant in the area. Prices are reasonable. When they have their seafood deals for shrimp and lobsters take advantage of it. Buy one take one example. I recommend fresh Fried salt and pepper shrimp. Crispy fried flounder, honk kong pan fried noodles, hot and sour soup, black bean and pepper fish or lobster, beef and broccoli etc. For dessert get the almond jello. Lunch combos are good deals too. Service can be tricky here fast or slow. Family style layout. Food comes out fast most of the time.

So, decided to take Grace here for lunch. I ordered the lunch special Mushroom chicken, Chicken Corn soup, Deep fried Flounder, and Yang Chow fried rice. Total bill was $35 bucks. Not bad and plenty of dinner leftovers. It's good Chinese food and great for parties. Honey walnut shrimp is popular here too. Fast service and funny waiters so give it a try if you're in the area.

FOOD: No, this place is not a sit-down version of Chinese fast-food. Everything I've had here has been quality dishes. You will find lots of Chinese food favorites but you have to go for the Seafood. They have the best Honey Walnut Shrimp.. large crispy shrimp with addicting flavor. I also really like the Deep Fried Whole Flounder Fillet.. lots of meat and is great with the sauce. Other things I've tried that were good: Spicy Salt Fish Fillet, Chicken w/String Beans, Pork Chops, and the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. AMBIANCE: Busy, Hectic, Crowded! It looks like there is a lot of space, but they pack that building to its full capacity. If you come during the weekend (especially Sunday lunch), you might hit a real big crowd and wait time. People come there more for the food rather than a enjoyable social gathering. SERVICE: Quick servers running back and forth. You usually have to flag them down if you need something because they are always busy. Don't expect them to be happy and social! TIPS: Honey Walnut Shrimp should always be ordered every visit. Not a bad choice for ordering to-go for the family or for potlucks. Avoid the busy weekends!

It's really such a shame that I did not like this place because my aunt deems this as her favorite restaurant and decided to treat me out here as my graduation lunch. I really tried to like it, but nothing was really good in my opinion. Right when we walked in, the restaurant was crowded on a Friday at 1pm so my expectations were high. We were handed the menus and ordered off the lunch special menu. The prices here are really good for lunch special Chinese food. However, the food was just not worth it. I wouldn't pay to eat here. The food here is either really salty or really bland. We ordered almost 12 dishes, and I liked only one of the dishes. The dish I liked was the soft tofu covered in mushroom with kailan vegetables. This was my favorite dish until I spit out a piece of hair that was entangled in my vegetables. That completely ruined the meal for me. The fried fish fillet literally just tasted like salt. I couldn't even taste the fish because the batter was so ridiculously salty. The orange chicken was so weird. I've never seen orange chicken so vibrant orange in color and one that wasn't battered and fried like how they typically do it at restaurants. There was hardly any meat in that dish too. Basically, every dish I would describe would either be as bland or really salty. I was not impressed with any of it, but maybe it was a bad day for the cooks because other yelpers seem to love this place. Overall, service was pretty good. They were attentive and gave us two free soups for lunch because it was a Friday. The hot and soup soup was good. They also give you free almond tofu at the end of the meal. I honestly wouldn't come here again, if it was my choice.

IMO, this place has da best Chinese food!!! Good bang for da bucks. Best mei cai kou rou (thousand years old pork) in SoCal. Some of the dishes that I like ordering are: Curry Beef Brisket, Beef Stew w/ Turnip, Deep Fried Fish Fillet, Fried Rice, Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, Chinese Chicken Tacos etc. Great price and great portion during lunch special hours. Love this place !!!

Eh. One of the few sit down Chinese restaurant in Covina. This place was packed on Father's Day and unfortunately for us; they seated us in a room that reeked of old people smell. I kid you not. Once we were seated, the odor became overbearing and we tried to get a different table but it wasn't gonna happen tonight. But even that pales in comparison to the service we were treated all night. And this is from a Chinese family who spoke the language and have eaten this restaurant before. I can't imagine the service people were getting if they didn't even speak Chinese. You had waiters running around like headless chickens. Food was slow. Even the soup that came with the preset meal. We all sat there waiting for almost 10 minutes before we got our ice water. The food was okay considering it was only $79 for a 6 dish dinner meal. We ended up with steam fish, beef broccoli, fried pork chops, fried chicken, walnut shrimp and corn chicken soup. In addition to the set course, we ended up ordering the sizzling beef. Probably the best dish of the night. I'm hoping that I'll never have to come back here again. The stench combined with the average food doesn't warrant a return trip.

Came by this restaurant with my family of 5 to celebrate Chinese New Year early (it is this Thursday, year of the sheep). We arrived around 6:30 pm and saw that this place was pretty busy. But there were still some tables left so we were seated right away. Because Chinese New Year is closely approaching, they had a special menu you can order from for the festivities. Some of the food items that we ordered included some type of seafood fish, fried fish, squab, chicken that is served with fried shrimp chips, broccoli and a mushroom dish. When my mom ordered the soup, the sever did not ask if my mom wanted a small order or a large order. With 5 people sitting at this table, my mom assumed the server would bring us a soup large enough for 5. Well when he brought our soup, he ladled the soup into 3 out of 5 bowls that were on the table. My mom asked him why he did not ladle it into the other 2 bowls (I thought it was kind of strange that he only served 3 bowls) and he said this soup servers only 2 people and then walked away. My mom was pretty annoyed by that, but since the 3 bowls are served to the brim, we were able to take some of the soup out of each bowl so that every one could get soup (so if you order the small size soup, it would still be enough for 5 in case you wanted to save some money). With our squab dish, it came with iceberg lettuce (I wish restaurants would give Boston bibb lettuce instead because they hold better, taste better and actually add some nutritional value... but since they cost more, no Chinese restaurant will ever provide it) and just wasn't enough for 5 people. We were charged $2 for more lettuce. Iceberg lettuce is just so cheap, wished they would just give a few measly pieces on the house (yes I know a restaurant has to make money). Service overall was just average and really could have been better. There was one female server who was good but the male server who had took our order (and ladled out the soup) needs to be retrained, perhaps with some manners too. Food here surprisingly is pretty good, especially with this restaurant being in West Covina. I found out that the owner used to own a restaurant in Alhambra but closed it and moved down here (rent is probably cheaper). So the food is pretty legit and I would come back here again. By the way, there is free WiFi here. I didn't get on it because I didn't realize there was any until I was walking out of the restaurant and saw a sign that said there is free WiFi here for their patrons.

I am imagining a scene in which I am lost, but hungry. I hunger for a seafood restaurant near San Gabriel because is there any place better for Cantonese seafood? I venture and become excited because there it is, Town Sent Seafood. I enter and sit down. In front of me is their volcano diced beef steak with honey pepper sauce, along with beef chow fun (dry). As I laugh in ecstasy, I think, how nice it is to be in San Gabriel, but wait! I do a double take because this is...Covina? No way! Beef and noodles done right, the Canto way. If I did a blind taste testing, I would not know these dishes to be any different from a restaurant elsewhere in the 626, all for ~$20. That is why this is as good as it gets!

If you want cheap and good Chinese food, then this is your spot! You can have a sit down lunch or dinner or you can take it to go. You can even order over then phone and come pick it up. They have lunch specials staring from $5.95. Most of the specials come with rice! Pretty good deal. We usually order food from here for lunch a work. It's great for sharing. You can order 2 or 3 dishes and share amongst 4 people. Obviously the more people there are, the more you order. The squid with spicy salt is really good. The orange chicken isn't as crispy as I would like it. I'm used to the crispy Orange chicken of Panda Express. Although I know that's not the real Chinese orange chicken. The pork chops are good too! Definitely not bad for what you're paying. Like any Asian restaurant, the service is just okay. I don't think they really care about the etiquette of service but who can complain with the amount of food in front of you?!

Not too shabby! This is my Papa's "paborit" place. The lunch specials are super cheap and the food is good. Plus the Chinese waiters throw out Tagalog if they know you're Pinoy. Plenty of parking but it does get busy during the lunch rush so whenever my Pop and I come, it's usually around 11a or so. Eggplant and steamed whole fish are stellar; their free soup served with their lunch specials is pretty yum too.

After a two week stint in Europe, I found myself with an insatiable craving for Chinese food. After clearing customs at LAX I find myself not at home saying hi to fam/my dog like any other normal person but instead sitting in the parking lot of Town Sent. This is normal. Clearly I have my priorities straight. I've been going to this restaurant for nearly two decades. The server who took my takeout order (the one who speaks Tagalog occasionally) commented on this because he's literally seen me grow up. I freaking love this restaurant. Great food and service (just make sure you don't go on Sundays, especially around 12pm/1pm when church gets out). I've tried almost everything on the menu and EVERYTHING is great. My personal favorites: garlic eggplant, seafood pan fried noodle fried pork chop, and Kung pao chicken.

Food (4/5): Overall, the food is pretty good. My favorite dishes were the House Fish Maw Soup, Sautéed Fish Filet with Vegetables, and House Fried Honey Garlic Pork Chop (a must try). If you're in the neighborhood, drop by and check this place out. Service (4/5): First off, my girlfriend's family are considered regulars here. As a result, we may have gotten better service, then usual. Nonetheless, the staff brought the food out quickly and they were great about taking care of our needs. Atmosphere (3/5): There's nothing special about the interior, but it was relatively clean for this type of Chinese restaurant. In addition, every single time I came here, there were a lot of patrons. Somehow, it never got too noisy, and you could carry on a conversation without raising your voice.

My parents love this place! I tend to like the salted pepper pork chop. My family loves the lettuce wraps. The only instances I've had their food is at home because my parents get it to go. I can't complain though. Food is super good! I have yet to see the inside of this place.

We are avid Chinese food eaters and found this gem strictly from the Internet. We were not disappointed. The only disappointment is that it is not closer to our home as we live 20 miles away. We had the fried squid, the wor won-ton soup, seafood lettuce wraps, fried egg rolls, honey walnut shrimp, and chicken with asparagus. Everything was fresh and delicious. As good as the food was the service was even better. The waiters were attentive, friendly and kind. One waiter even let me use his solar charger to charge my phone at the table because I was expecting an important phone call. Thank you Town-sent, we will be back for your fantastic food and amazing service!

Food was good. All the food we ordered tasted good. Just be careful ordering seasonal items on the menu. We learned to always ask the price first before ordering "seasonal" items on a Menu! $74.99 for ONE Lobster. They showed it to use live and moving but we never bother asking how much it was! lol (Lesson Learned!!!) Tho I thought it's a little overprice? Im not sure never ordered a lobster at an Asian restaurant before.

It's an ok restaurant. Our in-law and in-law relatives love to eat at this place when ever there is a family gathering or an holiday event. The place is hard to spot cause it is not in the big street. The place looks small but has a big space for big party. The staff are pretty friendly. We usually have our brother-in-laws wife to order for us and ask questions for us. The parking is spaces are decent but when it gets crowded, you might need to park your car on the side streets or next to post office in the back. If you are in the area, you can try out with family or friends. I personally like to eat at Panda Inn. Since there is a Panda Inn restaurant by Ontario Mills, my family would order take-out once or twice a month.

My (big) family and I have been patronizing this place since I can't remember when. They are very consistent with their food and their menu. The servers are very nice and very accommodating especially when our whole family are there to dine in. The following are what we/I usually order when we eat there: Crispy shrimp- the batter is very light and the seasoning is just right, not too salty not to batter drenched. The shrimp is cooked perfectly and I eat the whole thing, head and shell still intact. Combination crispy pan fried noodle- this is just sheer perfection for me and I tried to track down some restaurants that offer somewhat the same kind, but nothing tops this one. The sauce does not overcome the flavor of the seafood/meat on it and it's paired perfectly. Once you mix it, the noodle stayed crunchy and it doesn't get soggy at all. Yangchow fried rice- the rice they use is the good quality kind and asians love their rice. It's the staple of every asian cuisine so it can make or break the dish and theirs is flavored suitably. Steamed tilapia- fried tilapia drenched in a sauce that are sweet/salty combination. The tilapia is very tender and always consistently hot and fresh everytime. Fried porkchops- flaky batter and spices are very palatable that even my son loves it (he's somewhat of a picky eater). Not overcooked so when you bite into it, it just falls off the bones. I can go on about their slew of mouthwatering menus, but I'd rather you try it for yourself and see what the hype is all about. My family couldn't get enough of this place and even I, myself after being a prodigal daughter still comes back here.

I always come here for lunch if I'm not feeling for home made. Its a great place regardless if you're Chinese or not. Since um Chinese I will give you my personal review on this place. I started coming here when my dad told me about this place and we were hungry so out family came to this place for dinner. I have no idea there was a chinese restaurant in this area. I wasn't thinking much about this place because of how the restaurant looked. U ordered a black pepper stir fried beef and a fried rice. Oh my god, the beef was godly, and the fried rice was on point. The beef was soft and the right chewiness. The fried rice isn't all that fried, isn't too salty and had a symmetrical amount of meat, vegetables, and rice. My family ordered a spinach dish and it was boiled with garlic, it was delicious, it completely blew my mind. We also had a small bass, that was well steamed and the fish meat is fresh. No raw smell at all. I wouldn't ding them for bad desserts being this place is a seafood restaurant, but do not get dessert, its bad and not good. I save money and go to the near smart and final to get haagan daaz ice cream cups for everyone. Would you recommend? Yes I would, its a great place, not only is it friendly to all races, it has a friendly environment, don't let the in house decorations fool you. Definitely check this place out!!!!

If you trek down the 10e and end up in Covina and looking for some quality Chinese food for a good price, I would highly recommend Townsent, On my last visit, I came with a friend and we shared their veggie lo mein, Peking duck and pork chop with spicy salt. Everything was cooked to perfection! The only complaint that I had was that their pork chops were a little unseasoned, but that aside, everything else was great. I still crave their veggie lo mein every now and then.. So I'll have to make my way down the 10 to pay Townsent a visit :) My only complaint and reason for the -1 star would have to be the service. If they were a bit more attentive during our meal and if they didn't rush us as we finished, I would've left with 0 complaints but hey! Can't have everything right?

This is a great place for lunch. The prices are reasonable and the dishes are sized relative to the price. The location is convenient and there is a parking lot in the back. Their lunch special menu has a slew of around 30-40 dishes. If you don't want meat or veggie dishes, you can also turn the menu over for your fried rice and chow mein. Came here with a big group a coworkers and this place is perfect for family style. Everyone ordering a dish is enough to satisfy your Chinese cravings. At first, I thought this place was like a Panda Express but I was wrong. The food feels more authentic. Yes, you have your beef and broccoli and Kung Pao Chicken, but you also have other dishes that are more "authentic". You have your eggplant with hot garlic sauce and lettuce wraps, and fish fillets with broccoli. Pretty authentic tasting in my book. Lunch comes with soup (today it was egg drop soup with pork and corn - which is one of my favorites anywhere...) and afterwards, you have your fortune cookie. The servers are pretty attentive. Our dishes came our pretty quickly and they came by to refill our waters and tea. They also gave us some sliced chili and soy sauce. Pretty customary in most Chinese restaurants. The food here is pretty good and because of that I would've given this place a 4 but the place is a bit dirty. Of the two sets of utensils near me, both tea cups had leftover food particles and the pepper shaker was full of oil. Again, what do you really expect in terms of cleanliness from a Chinese restaurant. I will most likely end up coming back for the food and disregard the minor dirtiness. If you can, come M-F for the Chicken Lettuce Wraps at a special price!

This place is really great for lunch specials. It is usually busy during that time of day. The food is good and they've really improved on their service. Water was brought to every person at every table when I was here last and they were quick to bring refills. Definitely worth repeat visits.

Perhaps the best, family style, Chinese food in the entire San Gabriel Valley. I have yet to find another Chinese cuisine as excellent and well priced then Town Sent. To maximize the "bang for your buck" I suggest eating at lunch. You will get your money's worth with great tasting food. The seafood is received daily and is kept fresh in fish tanks until ready to be prepared. You will notice the tanks to your left as you walk in; proof of freshness. The host who knew both Mandarin, English, and Spanish is a very friendly person who makes customer service a priority. If you can spare your heart for an hour the "Thousand Year Pork" is amazing as it literally melts in your mouth. If you are in Covina, and Chinese food is on your bucket list, stop by here. You won't be disappointed.

This is officially my first Yelp review :) and why not have it be a place that I have been going to for 10+ years? Townsent is an inviting, delicious and overall wonderful place to dine. No matter who is working, they always try to make you feel welcome the minute you walk through the door. Ted, one of the main workers has come to know my family and I throughout the years and has even learned a few words in Tagalog! In addition to the great service, the food will keep you coming back. Make sure on your visit to order the House Pan Fried Noodles. It is a balance of crunchy and soft noodles covered with a multitude of veggies, fish and meat. I have yet to be disappointed with the food. Another one of my favorite dishes I had when I came here was the eggplant. It was perfectly seasoned and still had a bit of crunch to it instead of fully soggy like some restaurants tend to do. Overall, great place! If you're ever in the Azusa/Covina area, make sure to dine at Townsent!

My job orders in from here a lot. It seems like at least once a month. I finally drove past the restaurant and decided to write my review. I have eaten in here once and it was very busy. It is a popular restaurant. I have even ordered it to go myself now. The food is ready very quickly and they have fabulous lunch specials that are about $7 for each item ordered. I really like this place. Not so much the parking, but the place is great.

Tip: Great place for lunch. There are many lunch combos to choose from. Prices are around %5.25 to $6.95. The good thing about the the lunch combos is that you get to share the dishes and soup. It is not just a plate of entree and rice and a bowl of soup. They serve it as plates of dishes with a big bowl of soup and rice on the side so it's more of a family style share which is great. It is a seafood Chinese restaurant so they will speak Cantonese to you.

Gosh, I've been to this place over a dozen times. The host, Todd, knows me by name. The fiancé and I always order the house special crispy noodle to share. Sometimes I'll even order it to go, and eat it at work. Service is usually good, unless it is super busy; the wait staff is usually on par though. (Don't ever go here on Christmas. We ordered take out last year, and it took almost an hour...even after placing a phone order.)

My family has been going here for years. They have been at that same location for more than 20. And they are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is probably the best Chinese food restaurant in the area, without making a trek out to Monterey Park and Alhambra. Like all Chinese restaurants, the menu selection is huge but we always get something from every section: a soup, veggies, beef, pork, chicken, noodles, and seafood. Of course, we also leave with tons of carry-out boxes and enough for another full meal (or 2 or 3). Some of our favorites are the Honey Walnut Shrimp, chicken lettuce wraps, the sautéed string beans, steamed fish with ginger, salt and pepper crispy shrimp, and the stir fried clams. At least half of these are usually included in every visit. Try to come with a large group, so that you can sample a ton of different things. Besides, it's fun to turn that Lazy Susan around. The restaurant is pretty large, however every time I go, it is a full house. We seem to always go right before the lunch or dinner rush arrives. The service is always friendly. The Chinese servers always show off the Tagalog that they know. And I'm a bit embarrassed because they may know more words than I do. You can also order carry-out if you want to pig out in privacy, and they also have an extensive catering menu. *Yelp 100 Challenge: Review 99/100*

Working around this area today and was craving for chinese food. So of course went to google some spots and found this one. I love chinese food but also very particular with taste and quality and let me tell you, this place won't disappoint you. I ordered their lunch special and got the fried fish fillet as well as spicy eggplant with hot garlic sauce and both were exceptional. Really great quality chinese food. Can't wait to bring my whole family here soon on a weekend and try their other stuff. You have to try this place. Great food at very reasonable price. It won't break your wallet

I have been to a plethora of Chinese restaurants growing up in monterey park! I've tried all the traditional dishes up and down many menus. My boyfriend despises chinese food but he loves this place because it is part of his childhood. I can see why he loves it so much! First of all it is very inexpensive! We went during lunch and wow such an extensive menu for the prices they were offering. Plus, you get complimentary soup too! The service was very friendly despite them being restricted in English. They brought out ice water and tea right when we were seated. Not very common to the places I usually patronize! For the price it is not mediocre chinese food at alll! It was very palatable and delicious as well. The only sad part is it is a drive for us ); but I do see myself coming back. And ten thousand kudos to them for free wi-fi. Like what. Mind blown.

Town Sent Seafood Restaurant showed me that I am wrong in my thinking that there are no good Cantonese restaurants on the other side of the hill that is between the 60 and 10 freeways. For years, I used to think that if I wanted good Cantonese food, without driving to Monterey Park or Alhambra, I probably had to go to Rowland Heights. Then one day, I saw photos and review of Town Sent on Yelp. Could it be true? I finally decided to try it out months ago when I went there for take out. It has been about been about 5 months now, and I still myself going back to Town Sent for their take out. Although I have only been there a few times, they remember my face. I've ordered their beef chow fun, seafood chow mein and their stir fried rice noodles. They do a good job cooking their noodle dishes. The noodles that they cook here are just as good, if not better than the stuff I can get in the Rowland Heights area. It seems that there is more noodles than what they give in the Rowland Heights area. They have much more than noodles here. But, with a daughter that loves noodles, I cannot order much else. Service is pretty good. The guy, who seems to be in charge is a really nice guy. He always has something nice to say to me, and other customers when they come in. He seems to know all his customers and remembers their names. Town Sent has been a great discovery for me thanks to my fellow Yelpers. It is a very good little restaurant. I know I will be back.

I have been eating at this place for over 3 years now because of my work-catering for holiday parties and special events. I can tell you this: no doubt this place is authentic Chinese seafood. The lobster and crab dishes are all very succulent with inviting aromas. I've visited a few cities in China so the seafood reminded me a lot of certain dishes I had over there. They have noodle and protein based dishes that are not based with shell fish or seafood. With my pancreatitis there are certain types of seafood I avoid, so it is nice to know that they had alternatives for those with gastrointestinal issues. The place is large, meant for big groups, families or people who want to eat and socialize. Lazy Susans are on all the tables giving the vibe that this place is meant for eating several plates of food. The staff was all very friendly and the wait was minimal. I would warn those that visit during the lunch hour rush, it gets a tad hectic.

Love ordering out and eating in at this place. It's one of the best Chinese restaurants this side of the SGV (meaning Covina area ), the staff is always nice and they know how to speak Tagalog - maybe because there are so many Filipino people that eat here. Their menu is pretty extensive and portions are pretty large, so list a few my favs: Chicken Lettuce Wraps Salt and Pepper Pork or Calamari Fish with Sweet Corn Sauce When you dine in, they always give you something sweet to end your meal with. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Love this place from the first time I came. Lobster House Special, fried fish, honey walnut shrimp, Peking duck, crispy fried chicken, salt and spicy pork chop, garlic Chinese broccoli, deep fried beef chow mien, BBQ pork are our regular. The prices are decent as well: buy one pound of lobster and get the second pound free. We had our son's second bday party here. We celebrated special occasions here. Ted, the son of the owner is great but your best person there is David. David possesses outstanding customer service and always go above and beyond. If you have him as your waiter, you are going to experience the best dining. I strongly recommend this place to all.

Town Sent used to be my go to Chinese food place in the past but has been taken over with better Chinese food places. Do not get me wrong the food in town sent is good, really good! You really can't go wrong with anything there just order what your preference is. All dishes have a lot of flavor. Just like all authentic Chinese food establishments, service is always something to be desired... But that is expected when ordering from these kinds of restaurants. If hospitality is your thing, this place does not do that great of a job. They are very business oriented and want to know what you want to eat and give it to you as soon as possible. Service is fast but after initially ordering dishes it's hard to get a waiter back to your table. If planning to dine in its family style. Each dish can probably serve 3-4 people, 2-3 people if you are big eaters, prices are also decent. My advice for this place would be call ahead to order and pick up, I really do not recommend dining in.

Really this gets 3.7 stars. I really want to give it more, but a couple of dishes were really under par. In regards to authentic Chinese, this is definitely authentic Asian. I found the service very good, polite and attentive. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and has a middle class feel to the decor. In other wards not great but not a dive. We ordered several dishes. The best dish was the Chicken Lettuce wraps. All my kids asked for more and since I'm on a no carbs diet right now, it was excellent. The Chinese sausage was pretty good, but I have had much better. The salt and pepper pork chops were good and crispy. The beef steak in Cantonese sauce was also decent, but not spectacular. We ordered a whole Peking duck. To be honest I wanted pancake wraps rather than the rice flour steamed buns. The duck however was good and the remainder of the duck was brought out as a second dish. The most disappointing dish was the snow pea leaves stir fried in garlic...it lacked flavor and it tasted soft and overcooked. Would I come back? Yes...I would give this another shot. Other dishes I would like to check out. It is definitely not as far as Rowland heights!!

This place is pretty tasty. I've never sat at a table here, all of my experiences have been with take out. We always get the walnut shrimp -- OMG, delicious. You MUST try this dish. You will want to keep eating more and more, until you find out the calorie count of one shrimp haha. We also get the crispy house chow mein -- fresh veggies and yummy seafood lie on top of the chow mein. We also recently tried the fried pork chops without the sauce -- very crispy and tasty. You can't just eat one of these bad boys. Plenty of parking in the back. The restaurant is kind of located in a random spot on San Bernardino Rd. Will def be back. This is my family's go-to Chinese food place in our area.

I like this place a lot. I come here after work about twice a week. It's a great place to come here in West Covina for chinese food.

I just don't know about this establishment. I've been going here since I was a new-born and 19 years later they're still my all time favorite Asian restaurant. I love it here, the waiters are so accommodating considering my extra large Filipino family. If I had to mention one particular waiter, it's Ted. He has been here since I could remember and he always remembered us. I will be bringing my kids here once they're around and continue to come here with my family.

Love this place. people here have been here a long time and they get to know you. Some times i feel they rush you a bit on your order but i think its a culture thing or something. I like them...

This was supposed to be a quick lunch though it was pretty fast... it wasn't fast enough for my taste. Haha. FOOD - 2.5 Stars: The food here is good, but it wasn't anything special. They churn it out faster than you can believe. All of us ordered from the lunch special menu which includes a soup and rice. We had: - Hot Sour Soup ( yelp.com/biz_photos/town… ): This was alright though it felt very thick. I was happy to eat it though because I love hot sour soup though I can honestly say that I've had better elsewhere. This was a bit disappointing. - Mongolian Chicken ( yelp.com/biz_photos/town… ): I was kind of expecting this to taste like Mongolian Beef, but the only thing that was similar was the green onions. The sauce was no where near that, but it was decent. - Fried Fish ( yelp.com/biz_photos/town… ): The fried fish is really good especially with the sauce. - Eggplant in Black Bean Sauce ( yelp.com/biz_photos/town… ): This was probably my favorite dish to eat. The eggplant was perfect with the sauce... eating it with some rice... perfection! I could've eaten the whole plate by myself! - Fried Shrimp ( yelp.com/biz_photos/town… ): This was ok. I'm not too big on shrimp to begin with, but I ate one and it was flavorless to me. I wish there was more seasoning to it, but it was just lacking. SERVICE - 2.5 Stars: This is Chinese restaurant service. So, they quickly take your order, throw you your food, grab the plates, give your bill, and do your payment. It all happens so quick at times... or maybe it's the impersonal nature of it. I'm not sure. Nonetheless, lunch time quickness is wanted and you sacrifice service for that. ATMOSPHERE - 2 Stars: This place feels very cramped with all the tables. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe I'm just used to other places in the SGV. RECOMMENDATION: For alright, cheap Chinese food, this is the place to go. If you can spare extra time, a drive, and want way better Chinese food, then go to San Gabriel, Arcadia, Temple City, Monterey Park, or anywhere else in the SGV.

Been here numerous times for lunch, but this time we decided to do dinner. We ordered the beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, and chicken fried rice... Excellent! We also ordered some spring rolls which my fiancé liked. Fast service and price was koo... 4 STARS!

The quality of service and food here is above par and is a hidden gem in the valley. Seriously, the food is authentic delicious, genrously portioned and varried to cater to the spice of life. The only cons I could think of is when they get packed, the service and attention to our needs went down. Also, what's up with the elevator music?

Ever since I moved to West Covina in 2001, my family began coming here, since it was one of the more convenient Chinese restaurants in the area. Yet, I never thought to review it... Well, here it is, 12 years later. It's really easy to become a regular. The atmosphere is like any family restaurant, and the service is actually great for being an Asian establishment. The reason it didn't quite reach 5 stars is cause it never blew me away or became the go-to restaurant for family-style Chinese food for me. But I will give credit where it is due. The food is great, and the entire staff is friendly and welcoming. You see all types of families come in, so you know it's a local favorite. Even though the restaurant is kinda small, they can accommodate very large parties! My family of 7+ never have had to wait or received bad service. Over the years, I've compiled a list of favorite dishes from Townsent: 1.) honey walnut shrimp - this is a must. perfectly sweet and even though I hate mayo, this dish is just so damn perfect. And the walnuts are roasted and candied. 2.) thousand year old pork- it's soft, salty, fatty and oily. Why the hell not? It's like thick cut bacon and pot roast combined. 3.) House special hot pot - it comes with tofu, all sorts of good seafood (abalone, sea cucumber) and veggies. It's a usual, easily, cause it has all the food groups. 4.) volcano beef w/ black pepper - it comes out still sizzling on a cast iron plate. So freaking good. Mongolian and ginger scallion beef used to be my favorites but got dethroned. 5.) steamed fish with ginger - simple and fresh. dip into that chili lime sauce. 6.) garlic snow pea leaves - this dish I actually can not get anywhere else. It's such a simple dish, but the garlic is strong, in a good way. I definitely recommend this place, but it does get pricey the bigger the party.

Ambiance: A very well lit, spread out big dining room with typical Chinese restaurant decor. Lobster, fish, shrimp tanks are customer facing. Regular pop music playing, not traditional Chinese. Fine by me. The place is very clean. Food Quality: A great variety of Americanized Chinese cuisine. Wonderful Crispy pork chop, gigantic soft chowmein noodles, great soup. They do have a common thread of black bean sauce and barely cooked peppers and onions with lots of their entrees. With that said, every entree I've had is solid. Service: The guys running the show are pretty funny, prompt, and courteous. They seem to know a large amount of their customer base is Filipino, so you will hear them try to drop some Pinoy slang now and again. All in good taste. Price: You will not get a better value than their lunch menu. Nearly all of their entrees are $7 or less. You can literally fill your entire table with entrees and walk out of the joint without dropping $50. Overall: Probably the best Chinese food in the area. Super great value and great service.

Fast service, good food, well priced, and friendly staff... that speak tagalog apparently. So sometimes the staff will catch you off guard by throwing in a word here and there. They're funny and light hearted, which is great compared to the expressionless faces you sometimes get from other places. Get the orange peel beef. It's not the healthiest but it's damn good!

Okay, take this review with lots and lots of bias. This is the MSG talking. The food is not anything at all spectacular. But it's the favorites that you've come to know and love pork chops, orange chicken, fried rice, calamari, fried fish, and of course egg drop soup to start --- on that level of addictive. Add the lunch special price (....that they have on the weekends too!) and you can feed a group of 8 adults until they're full for under $70. I was skeptical. And then the MSG hit and the bill came, and I took a nap.

I love this place!! When I want GOOD Chinese food I come here. My favorite plate is actually the wonton soup (seafood style). It looks gross but it is so delicious. I've never had another wonton soup that tastes the same. I love the soft noodles, the broccoli and beef, the Orange chicken etc everything is good here. I've been coming for years and they've come a long way in customer service. They could still improve but it's gotten a lot better. The price is a little on the expensive side but the food is worth it. These plates are shareable, so don't order too many plates! The best time to come in my opinion is at lunch time. They have lunch specials and it's cheaper. Definitely recommend this place!

I have been coming to Town Sent with my family since I was 3 years old and it never gets old. The owner knows us as the "Number 8 Soup Family" since it's what we always order along with some of our favorites: Pan Fried Noodles Chicken, House Fried Rice, and the crab.. Ooooo, the crab. It is so delicious. I definitely think that Town Sent is worth a try if you have never been. The service is decent but the food is AMAZING.

There aren't many good Chinese restaurants in the area (unless you're making a trip to Monterey Park or San Gabriel or somewhere over there) but Town Sent has been my family's favorite since we moved out here. We normally get take out but the food has always been tasty and never left any of us asking, "aw, what happened this time?" The staff here is friendly and nice too. I HIGHLY suggest trying Town Sent out and try the fried tofu (SO GOOD).

Foods great, lobster was amazing. Beef Lo Mein was great. The tea is really good. But if you're not Asian then good luck getting anyone to come over and check if you need anything. I have never felt so disrespected in a restaurant before. You call to them as they are walking by and they'll blatantly ignore you. Nothing like having a great dinner just to have it ruined by an all male wait-staff ignoring you just to tend to their "select" tables. Fortunately for me, there are plenty of other Chinese restaurants to pick from in this area.

  • Lara Y.

some good dishes, some not so much. covina people, you guys just need to drive a bit further and just eat at sgv. really. everything was cheap though so i guess that's good? i wouldn't get the spicy salt pork chop here as it just wasn't up to par with other chinese restaurants. everything else was ok. honey walnut shrimp, steamed fish, garlic eggplant.

My family have been coming here for many years. I always remember this place as being the restaurant with the pink tablecloths! This place is great for big parties- I'm pretty sure we've celebrated everything from birthdays to funerals, to graduation and just for great eats. Customer service is great here. My mom has been here frequently in the past few months so they waiters know we can speak Spanish! They'll tease her by saying, HOLA! COMO ESTAS?! Lol, great customer service. Sure, it gets busy so you may have to wait for the water you asked for or even one chopstick to have a complete set... but it definitely gets brought out to you. There aren't many great Chinese food places in good ol' Covina, but this is our definite go-to place with relatives from out of town. Our usual order: crispy house chow mein, shrimp with lobster sauce, fried pork chops and cashew chicken. We vary it from time to time, but man oh man. I'm hungry thinking about Town Sent!

Hot and sour soup not only was just warm, it also wasn't spicy or sour at all. It tasted fine. Kung Pao Chicken was good, but the pieces were too big to eat. Same with the crispy chicken, different type of dish than anything I've tried, but had to take a few bites off of my fork which is classless, but no knives are available at most Chinese restaurants. Lo mein had way too many bean sprouts - yuck. Honey walnut shrimp, was not like anywhere else. My first couple bites made me think there was still shell on the shrimp, but it was just lightly coated with bland sauce and cold walnuts. Tea (bag in water) was just warm. No lemon available for iced water. Everything was edible, period.

this has been our go to restaurant when theres nothing in the fridge and we want something quick. however, i think we will only stick to that rule monday-thursday night because friday night was crazy in the parking lot and the restaurant was PACKED... the one time our order wasnt ready and waiting for is. dont get me wrong the food is still good. it was just INSANE compared to the normal emptiness we encounter.

Old school Cantonese restaurant that's been around for over 20 years. Good lunch specials. Portions aren't huge but the food is fresh and well balanced. It's a bit bland for my taste as my taste buds are more accustomed for hot and spicy. However, this is traditional Cantonese cuisine so freshness and light seasoning is the norm. Restaurant is staffed by all male waiters. They're quick and friendly; especially David, who take the time to treat your like you're an old friend even after just 1 visit. Fresh, tasty food serviced by friendly staff.. not much more you can ask for.

Pretty dissapointed with this place. I ordered over the phone and asked for chow mein and orange chicken. The guy taking my order acted like he had NEVER heard of what i was talking about before. I thought I had called the wrong number. He told me they do not sell orage chicken AND chow mein and that i would have to buy them seperate. So I ended up ordering orange chicken with a side of chow mein. When i picked up the order, it was 2 seperate meals, one, orange chicken and rice, the second, chow mein and rice. Along with 2 salads, 2 egg rolls, 2 wantons, 2 soups. Why they could not comprehend putting the orange chicken and the chow mein together I will never know. A waste of my money for sure.

The food is pretty good and the portions are OUTRAGEOUS!! Let me tell you, I work with a fair amount of asians who are very stingy however, these asians sure know how to give! their lunch special is about the best deal around for the price. If you take two people to the lunch deal 11-3pm you can split the bill, both pay about 13 bucks and you have enough to take home. This is the best deal around! The reason it got one star is because no one came to refill my cup! Dx

I'm a regular here...been coming ever since they opened prob more than 10 years ago...i used to live in monterey park and still make the drive here for their cantonese food....its weird to find such an authentic place in the middle of west covina next to a home depot and nothing relating to chinese.... service is efficient from the moment u order, the wait time is minimal...servers are quick..everyone speaks decent english... pricing is on the cheaper end for the amount and quality you get... most the items here u can order in any seafood restaurant in monterey park one dish that stands out is their Appetizer Chicken Feast: its a whole chicken, they deep fry it and de-bone it for u, the skin is stripped but place on top of the dish, underneath is the chicken in strips and it also comes w/ jellyfish and pickeled cabbages, and deep fried shrimp chips...its a big dish so order it when u come w/ a family... free dessert after dinner...they make the best homemade Almond Tofu Ever..its a bit sweet, but melts on ur tongue!!!!

  • Cj S.

Very very rude. To top off I was over it so I ordered something to go and they told me I need to spend a minimum of $20 to be able to use my card! How can one person eat $20 worth of food at a place like that. If you really want Chinese food I suggest you make the extra drive.

  • Liyin L.

I've never eaten at the restaurant, but I've ordered take out from this place number of times. So as far as takeout goes, this place is great. The food is decent (by Asian standards), portions are big, and the price is so cheap. The food is ready in no time at all. From the time that I placed my order to the time that I got my food took less than 10 minutes. At least 3x the quality of panda express, but half the price and bigger portions. That's great in my book. I also know that the seafood is fresh because looking down the cramped little hallway you see tanks of live seafood. Sure, it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but for the price, and the location, it's pretty good. It's also got a pretty Un-westernized menu for Covina. That takes guts. I was pleasently surprised the first time I went.

Walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef shrimp Fried rice and list goes on. This place is a nice sit down place for some Chinese food. Family friendly. There seafood and live lobster and crab is delicious too. They have the parking lot in the rear. They are located across the street from Covina bowling alley.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I have been coming here for years. The food is amazing!!!!! They have a spectacular daily special that goes until 3pm with discounted food prices including soup and rice. They never leave me disappointed. The food tastes very fresh (except the orange chicken, I wouldn't recommend that dish). The menu is extensive and almost every new dish I've tried, I've loved. Decent prices and ok service. It is a definite must try!

We were introduced to this restaurant from a friend who's originally from Hong Kong. What surprised me was one of the dishes our friend ordered was the house fried rice. Now, this is not the usual fried rice dish most Americans are familiar with -- no, this is the rice dish that is made in many ordinary Chinese households. I know because my Grandmother fixed this dish & would serve this often with our Thanksgiving dinner. It has several types of meat, some egg, green onion, and it is quite close to my Grandmother's dish. In fact, this is the first time, I've seen this dish served in a Chinese restaurant. That alone blew me away!

  • Richard L.

I always come here during lunch time on the weekdays with my family. The food is average Chinese food at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend coming here with larger groups so that you can order a bunch of dishes family style. The give you a daily special soup with their lunch.

Awful After Complaining Bad Food! My family and I ate at this restaurant a few times, not until we ordered a bad and ripped off dish, stuffed Tofu with shrimps (about $9), we began to find out their services went down hill. When we showed the manager the Tofu is not stuffed; only "ONE LITTLE DOT OF SHRIMP" laid on top of each Tofu cube. To add all of the DOTS of shrimps together not even equal to 1 small shrimp. It is a plain Tofu dish. The Tofu has no taste. He said in broken English, "We cook here stuff Tofu like this." I asked him to remove the English word, "stuff" from his manuals. He said, "We change tomorrow." He could lie it to a child. The manuals are so old and dirty that have not been changed at least 10 years. He did not apologize, but refunded us after he heatedly quarreled to rip us off $9. Our family and friends will not ate at this place again. NOT recommend!

5 stars for food, 4 stars for the way the place look, if it was a little nicer, it would be a 5 star review. Favorite dishes, Walnut shrimp!!!!!!!!!! very good, crispy shrimps on mayo, chicken fried rice is good, hot delish, fresh fish is also good, sweet and sour pork is fatty meat but tasty sauce and flavor. Service: 4 starts, its a pretty typical service from a Chinese restaurant. but the waiters do speak English and its fine. FOOD is good here! you gotta try!

We keep going here because it's the only real chinese food in the area. lunch specials are great, comes with soup (egg drop or hot and sour). The only thing is the food is extra greasy (really, i know chinese food and this is more greasy than normal!!)

The location, food, service and price are very good except the ambiance. Last week i visited with my church members for lunch. Located on the San Bernadino Rd, easy to find out this restaurant. The parking is in rear and lots of spaces. We were welcomed and promptly seated. They had a lunch special that was much cheaper. They served the iced water, hot tea pot and soup on the house. I really like that kind of traditional way. We ordered kung pao chicken, marinated beef, eggplant, and white fish and tofu. Every food we ordered was very taste but it was not a mind boggling. The ambience was a little bit dingy. Service was also efficient and price was also ok. $30 for four dishes.

I've been here many times with coworkers and this place never really impresses me. They are good with large groups and have glass lazy susan in the center of the table for easy sharing of dishes. The waitors are all older gentelmen and they are straigh-faced and all business. They are quick with getting food out and serve a decent different-ingredients-everytime soup before the meal. The eggplant and crispy pork are must tries, but stay away from the lemon chicken! It had a very pale crust on it like it hardly been fried at all and was served with a really strange bright yellow artificially flavored lemon sauce on the side. Don't open the soda bottles they place on the table thinking they are complimentary for large groups... you have to pay for them.

I arrived at Town Sent around noon on a Tuesday and the restaurant was 40% full. The restaurant was almost full by the time I left at 1pm, and it's a fairly large place. This is a good sign. I had the BBQ pork fried rice, house chow mein, sweet & sour chicken, and chicken chop suey. All the dishes were excellent and the 4 entrees cost under $30. Great value, great food, and great service.

The food here is mediocre at best. The server sometimes announces the dish in english, sometimes chinese...If it weren't for the fact that we had people at our table familiar with the dishes we would not know what was being served. The restaurant is fairly empty and for good reason. I do not recommend this palce.

i was starved and this was the closest chinese restaurant to my dad's work. easy in, easy out, but the food was just okay. what i ate: - dungeness crab w/house special garlic sauce. (seasonal price, but when i went it was $15/lb and my crab was 2lbs): wet sauce, finger lickin good. the crab was on the dry side, but i cant complain - sheephead fish steamed with garlic and soy sauce: got this on the waiter's recommendation. i thought my mom would like it, but we werent a fan of the actual fish, a little too mealy for my taste. the seasoning with the garlic and soy was light - ong choy (veggies) in garlic sauce: i wanted something green and this was good. so much garlic - lunch special: eggplant and tofu: off the lunch special menu. again, nothing remarkable - egg drop soup (free during lunch): eh. since it was "free" i cant complain, but ive had way better - dessert (free) almond jello. what can you say about almond jello? pros: - quick. everything was out fairly quickly - changed our plates frequently - service... for a chinese place, the server was okay. english wasnt the best, but for a chinese place, not bad. - lunch specials. we only ordered one thing off the lunch menu, but i can see why people would come here for lunch. it was all a pretty good deal, but i cant speak for any of the dishes - clean bathroom cons: - during lunch there werent a lot of a chinese people in the restaurant. it looked like mostly local business people. would i come again? since i live in rowland, mecca of chinese restaurants, probably not. but if i was in the area and didnt want to drive to rowland, maybe.

Great service and Great food. I have been a loyal customer for a long time now, and I know my family and I are not the only ones that keep coming back. Some people may talk about this place saying its food sucks or they got bad service. You really can not please everyone even if you do your best to please them. With that being said, Town Sent is a Gem of the area. They treat everyone like family and do their best to please everyone, not to mention their food always hits the spot. Word of caution when you first try this place, please don't keep your expectations so high because this place is not a Ruth Chris or Morton's. ;)

So my (Chinese) mother in law just moved to Covina from Alhambra, and theres an obvious lack of good Chinese food in this area. I pick her up for lunch one day and bring her to Town Sent. Highly rated, right? Lots of customers inside, looks authentic enough, right? It started off poorly. We sat down, ordered and they brought out some soup. As she ate it, she had this look on her face somewhere between indifference and contempt. Uh oh. I venture to ask, hey hows your soup? She answers with a shrug, not looking up her bowl. "Its free". Yikes....not a ringing endorsement. Ok well hopefully the meal will be better. We ordered a chicken dish and a beef dish, both supposed to be spicy. Instead, what we got was some kind of meat drenched in a sickly super sweet sauce. We ate a bit more, trying to salvage something of the lunch break, but ultimately asked for a to-go box which was unceremoniously dumped in the waste bin later that afternoon. Good job, Town Sent. Not only did you manage to serve a virtually repulsive meal, but you made me look like a tasteless tool in from of my moms-in-law. Gonna take me a while to reclaim my good culinary name.

Simply said, I luv this resto even tho it's 35miles away from me. We ordered: - Thousand year's Pork Belly - Fried Fish Fillet - Minced Chicken with Lettuce - Egg Drop Soup - Salt & Pepper Pork Chop - Salt & Pepper Squid - Shrimp Scrambled Eggs - Orange Chicken - Chicken with Mushroom, Bamboo Shoots and Beansprouts The bill came up to $69.60 (tax included, but no tips). This was enough food for 10 of us, ain't that awesome? I gotta bump it up to 5 stars definitely.

Had potential to be great but now is falling off. Minus star for smaller portions from before; 8 shrimp for an $10 order. Their quality is inconsistent now also, asian broccoli was better first time. Minus a star for each roach i saw on the way out..2 stars left.. Could've been better, guessing ill go back to top ramen...

We went during lunch time. We ordered 5 entrees( fried fish that's huge, eggplant, clams, chicken, volcano beef), 2 sodas and steam rice. We only pay $58. There food is good and reasonable. There's always a lot of people eating in this place.

Before trying this place I read many reviews, all stated it was a great place, however, I was highly disappointed. The restaurant itself was very run down and very hole in the wall. However, I wanted to keep an open mind since all the reviews were great. The menu itself had a wide variety and family dinner options, which included a little bit of everything. We opted for the family dinner option, so we could try everything. The food looked wonderful, however the taste was VERY bland. The soup tasted as if it was left over watered down broth. I was hoping the food would taste better, but it was just as bland. Our orange chicken were slivers of chicken breaded, fried, and equal in grease and sauce. Our noodles tasted like plain pasta, despite the clear sauce infused on top. Everything was just a disappointment. My only compliment was the friendly staff taking our order. If your in the West Covina area and looking for Chinese food, please drive on.

3.5 stars Food 4 stars Service 2.5 stars Parking +.5 stars I had fried fish fillet, pan fried green beans and the honey walnut shrimp. Preparation is excellent. The coating on the fish was light and crisp. The fish is fresh from the tank. The walnut shrimp is lightly sweet and creamy. The green beans are DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked and seasoned I couldn't stop eating them. Service, initially was prompt and the food came out early. Then our server disappeared. No water, no plate clearing, no opportunity to add dishes. No check after stacking our own dishes and waiting for ten min. Wow.

Decent portions so that you never leave hungry: check. Ridiculously-cheap lunch specials: check. Wide variety of dishes: check All groups welcome, no matter how big or small: check. Stereotypically curt waiters: check. But seriously, this is a great place to bring a bunch of friends for lunch. The more friends, the more different plates you can sample from their lunch special menu. Soup, hot tea and as much rice as you'll ever eat are all included.

Came here for dinner one night but I kept my mind open because the friend I came with is not really a foodie and has very limited tastebuds when it comes to food. Even though the restaurant seems very Chinese, the menu is your typical one you find everywhere. They use an abundance of cornstarch to thicken the sauces and the flavors aren't super authentic as those restaurants in Rowland Heights. I can't remember the names of the dishes because my friend ordered them, but maybe it was what was ordered and not reflective of its "real" Chinese menu. From the one time visit, it was just average. Even so, service was decent and at the end of the meal they gave us complimentary Chinese dessert soup.

Just a quick update...still love this place! Today, I placed an order via phone. I got there before it was ready & went ahead and paid. When I explained that I was going to go wait in my car because my little dog was in the vehicle (windows down, warm day), the lovely lady immediately offered to bring the food outside to us. Really? Awwww. She was so tiny that I felt bad that she would be bringing the 8 entrées to my car. I pointed out which car...and the food was delivered. Now, on to the food...I ordered a few different dishes than I normally do (in honor of dad for Father's Day). The honey walnut shrimp is always a must. Btw, whomever said they got 7 pieces of shrimp must be exaggerating. I counted 13 in my order. We always feed at least 3 people off of this dish...and we are 'sturdy' people! Had seafood lo mein and fried cod with corn. Dad loves corn so I branched out. Also got the regular players...broccoli beef, sweet and sour pork, house fried rice, & some fried spring rolls because fried food is such a fun splurge. My goal is to add one new dish each time I come just to experience more of their huge menu. Liked the cod in corn. Different but tasty. Not so much a fan of the seafood lo mein. It was just okay to me. Same for the fried spring rolls. Overall, still my go to place for Chinese food though!

I've passed by this place so many times and had no clue how crowded it could get or how large the place was. We wanted to try some place new so we ended up here. Being on a budget, we ordered the combination dinner for 2 ($12.95 per person) and got much more than we expected to get for our $28. The meal included appetizers (2 egg rolls and some wontons), egg drop soup (about 4 servings worth), we got the shrimp in lobster sauce and snowpeas with beef, steamed rice, and almond jello. They brought out full orders of the meats/shrimps. So we had tons of left overs that will last us a couple of days. I haven't been that full in a long time. The food itself was flavorful, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and service was fast.

As a professional photographer living in Los Angeles, I travel all over United States. I've stayed in many hotels and motels and I have eaten in various restaurants ( including fast food unfortunately ). A lot of my clients and friends often ask me where the best place to eat in Los Angeles is. There are many fantastic restaurant and lots of not so great ones. One of my favorite styles are Chinese Food. One in particular that came to mind is Town Sent Seafood Restaurant. I've been going there for years. I recently went back there three days ago and I ordered the shrimp fried rice and snow pea leaves with garlic. I've had this dish in many Chinese and Filipino restaurants but this is by far the best one I have had. The leaf is not soggy and salty like the others. The flavor burst in your mouth like firecrackers on Fourth of July. It's cooked to perfection in my opinion. Their menu consists of varieties of selections including vegetarian food. The restaurant staffs are very friendly and will make your dining experience very pleasant. Town Sent Seafood Restaurant is located in the great city of Covina on W. San Bernardino Rd, just 20 miles away from downtown Los Angeles. They are Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm. They are even open on holidays. If you want to check out their menu visit their website townsent.com Tell them Michael Pe sent you ;)

Went here for lunch for my cousin's birthday. While it did take a while to get all of our food, since we ordered alot, the food was pretty good. Highlights: -Fried Pork chops-SO GOOD. love these -Walnut shrimp -the complimentary soup, steamed rice, and tea -Their fried rices Also, I heard from my cousin that the eggplant is really good, I don't eat eggplant, but there's a dish for you plant lovers! Family style servings, so share your food, people!

Usually come here just for lunch special. Bomb dishes for awesome prices! I'd say it's the best Asian food, family style, in this area. The usual order is the house special crispy noodles, stir fried string beans, salt pepper fried shrimp, and salt pepper fried squid. They also give complimentary soup and steamed rice. Oh yes and hot tea! Pour it into iced water for iced tea :o Definitely will be coming back in the future!

Co workers brought me here for lunch today. It looks like a random hole in the wall in Covina and being so close to Monterey Park/Alhambra/San Gabriel one does not thing Good Chinese Food. However, they specialize in Cantonese Food and they do it well. The lunch special include soup with all the entrees and all are less than 7 bucks. My friends ordered the Green beans, egg and shrimp and I ordered the fried squid. All three were expertly prepared and seasoned well. Who knew eggs and shrimp could be so light and fluffy. The service was equally good with the waiter right on time with water refills and frequent "tea checks". I will definitely be back to sample their large menu. Thank you for pleasant surprise.

One of my favorite local chinese restaurants! Food is delicious and fairly priced for the family size portion that you get. They have the BEST honey walnut shrimp! Perfectly crispy and not oversauced. Definitely a must order if you go. Other of my family's favorites are ... - whole fried sol fish - lobster with ginger and scallion - pork chops with spicy salt - volcano beef: meat was really tender - steamed chicken with ginger/onion sauce Least of my favorites - chicken lettuce wraps - flavor was a little off - fried squid with spicy salt - had better elsewhere - pan fried house chow mein - wasn't crazy about the sauce Service is pretty darn good for a chinese restaurant. The staff speak/understand english and even know some words in tagalog, so it's pretty entertaining hearing they reply with some filipino phrases. LOL. They're also prompt taking your order, bringing out your food, and even getting you refills on your water, which is rare at other chinese restaurants. During dinner, you also get a complimentary dessert - warm tapioca pudding thats delicious! During the week, they also have some really good lunch specials. Parking lot is a little tight, so come early! Oh yeah, it's not cash only like other places, they take plastic, thankfully. =)

Came back here recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. We go back a long way cause even he remembers that some of the waiters look familiar and go back a long way to a time before this was even called Town Sent, I don't remember the name but one of the waiters back then did magic tricks for my son when he had spare time (does anyone remember all the toothpicks on the ceiling?)... Anyways, I digress... The service is friendly, attentive, and timely. I was very satisfied with this but I'll get back to this point towards the end... The good thing is that you can get a pretty decent Cantonese style meal here without advance reservations, unless you're coming with a horde. You can get 3 to 4 pound lobster at market price and we love the lobster yee mein -- the lobster is cracked and really succulent all on a bed of white longevity yee mein noodles; I can never get enough of it. You must try it with the house special sauce too. On this occasion, we also tried the crab meat, fish maw soup on a recommendation from the waiter; he said that it was popular -- it was alright, but we've ordered the Westlake Beef soup in the past and we actually prefer that one over this. There wasn't any crab meat or fish maw taste that I could sense in my bowl even though you could see it, but in the Westlake soup, the texture of the minced beef is definitely there. Also one of the few times that I can stand cilantro in the Westlake soup to contrast the saltiness of the minced beef. Clams with Black Bean sauce were bomb! Minced Chicken with Lettuce wraps are always a welcome dish; make sure you get some of the hoisen sauce on the lettuce. Beef with Chinese Broccoli was the obligatory veggie dish for me, ok but nothing special... A good time was had by all, my friend whose birthday we were celebrating was happy with everything since he was the one who chose this place as he hasn't been back to this place in a long time either. Our total came out to $98 and some change, so I took a moment and did something I don't always do -- pay in cash. For some irrational reason, I though that Chinese restaurants prefer to deal in cash. So I left $120. That was a mistake. After another waiter picked up the tab, another waiter came back moments later with a tray with $1 and some change on it. I realized that I lost track of the money trail and someone just pocketed $20. I wasn't going to leave any more tip on top of what we already put down, all I could hope for is that they reconcile the cash with the register receipts at the end of the evening and find that $20... In no way does this reflect on the quality of the food or the service at Town Sent, but it just casts a shadow on what could be going behind the scenes without you even being aware of it...

We stopped at this place because we were craving seafood, but don't quite have the wallet for a decent meal at most restaurants. This place has a good 2 person meal combination for about 30 per person. It includes appetizers, full entrees, and dessert. The selection to choose from includes seafood. The food is good and authentic. It was crowded, but service was friendly and quick.

This place is close by so I finally decided to give it a try...I cook at home but I tend to get lazy i think i could've made a better sauce for the beef and chinese brocoli, but honestly food was average. It's not as authentic as I hoped it would be. The service is great though. which is why the 3 stars..its not bad. just nothing special. There's this one guy that was super helpful and funny as well. Every Asian restaurant has one of those...lol

I just had lunch at Town Sent with friends. There were 6 people at our table. The place was not busy yet because we got there about 30 minutes before the lunch hour. Here are the Pros and Cons of this restaurant: Pros: There is plenty of parking available in their private lot. The servers are fast and friendly. You are greeted at the main entrance and then are seated immediately. They are always available for any of your requests. The food comes out right away and is delicious. They also have big portions. The prices are very affordable Cons: The plates and glasses don't look too clean. There is a lot of MSG in the food. I left the place with a tingling in my mouth, intense thirst, and then a feeling of sleepiness when I got home. Town Sent is definitely a place to try once.

Food is always a Winner. My Favorites are the Deep Fried Flounder and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Watch out if you order the House Fried Chicken ... its quite TOO Oily and TOO Salty. The Vegetables are always best to eat here. The waiters seems like they are having too much fun. They speak too much Filipino/Tagalog. I don't know if this is good but quite entertaining the very least. I'm assuming they would cut that down if the Boss/Owner is around. Otherwise, the service is quite excellent. I have been eating here since i was a kid, food still tastes the same.

Hands down, my favorite Chinese Restaurant in the area. I always get the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Pan-Fried Green Beans (topped with shrimp, not bacon, bits). Don't forget some almond puddin' for dessert--this is glory! Everything is family-style so save some later or share with others. Enjoy!

Had lunch at Town Sent yesterday with my wife and our Chinese friend/financial advisor. First time there for my wife and I, but the restaurant was highly recommended by our Chinese friend. No disappointments. Staff was friendly and humorous, the latter of which is not the norm at most Asian restaurants. Place was crowded at 2 p.m., but there was an open table and we were seated immediately. We made our order and our food was on the table in less than five minutes. The green beans were excellent, the House lo mein was excellent, the crispy pork chops were the bomb as was the 1000-year-old pork! Jasmine rice, egg-drop soup as an appetizer, orange wedges to top everything off, and a very, very good Chinese tea to wash it all down. And for the first time ever, I was NOT hungry one hour after eating Chinese food! And the portions were more than what you pay for. If you are in the Covina area, I highly recommend a meal at this superb restaurant.

We love Town Sent! The breaded scallops, peel and eat shrimp (if they have them), lobster in special house sauce, and sizzling beef on the hot metal platter are what we always order. The waiters are nice, and Teddy is always so friendly! I love the warm tapioca dessert/soup too. Oh, don't forget the shrimp and walnut with white sauce! Another favorite is the boiled chicken and Chinese broccoli combo. The fried chicken and honey fried chops are also good. Their roast duck varies in quality.

This restaurant is one of those totally unsuspecting places you would drive by and never glance at... so thank goodness there is Yelp! It's located in a rather awkward plaza and location, but give it a chance. I've been coming to this place every now and then since I was a little girl, and I have always left a happy camper. :) They are known for their fish, which they serve three ways: in a soup, steamed with a light soy sauce, and one that's more heavily sauteed. I think all three of them are excellent. They come in huge portions and can feed your entire family. I also like their salt and pepper ribs, glazed shrimp with walnuts, and their lettuce wrap with shrimp. There's a variation of both authentic and more Americanized Cantonese food. Every time I come here we end up taking a lot to go-- and only because the portions are ginormous! Definitely give this place a chance if you're in the area. I always ask for their X.O. sauce on the side too!

What can I really say to this... The reasons why I have been going here so many times with my boyfriend, & sometimes his family, are the following: -Waiters are nice, yet you can't expect them to be friendly at times where service is actually slow -Super, utterly delicious Chinese cuisine -(Finally) Awesomely great prices for such tasty, big-portioned dishes, especially their LUNCH SPECIALS, steamed rice included! So because I go here often, here are the entrees I recommend to those interested: White Fish w/ Ginger & Scallions, Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce, Crispy Pork Chop, Salt and Pepper Squid, Sauteed String Beans, Fried Sole... Oh man, I can't remember the names of other dishes I've tried, like Seafood Delight w/ Crispy Noodles lol, but I'll find out next time I eat out in the Covina area!

2.5* but I'm comparing this against Chinese restaurants in the SGV. In the Covina / West Covina area, this is one of the only Chinese restaurants to get your Asian food fix at. Their prices are okay, with lunch specials ranging from $6-8. However to me the flavor is too strong and everything is either covered with a layer of sauce or fried & oily. This is probably best considered as borderline Americanized Chinese food. Good for a quick lunch but I don't recommend coming here for dinner as a meal for 11 runs $220 and you can eat for much better and at least 20% less if you're willing to drive ~20 minutes to Rowland Heights or San Gabriel areas (i.e., New Capital). If you're getting take-out for lunch, call in your order. I went in person and ordered out for lunch and it took 25 minutes.

Squid in spicy salt, shrimp in lobster sauce and chicken Lo mein. Ginger crab, shrimp in lobster sauce and some chicken Lo mein. All seafood baby. Shrimp and lobster sauce and Hong Kong style Crispy noodles. Great local Chinese. This is real Chinese though not the americanized version. The best deal is the shrimp in lobster sauce for only $5.95.

This is the first and last time I will eat here. The waiter brought out forks automatically not thinking we could use chopsticks. When he brought out the forks, one of them had dried rice in between the prongs and I had to bring it to his attention to exchange it with a pair of chopsticks. He was rude and short with our order. When they brought out our complimentary soup he didn't serve it to us unlike most Chinese restaurants I've been to before. Do yourself a favor and choose a different Chinese restaurant to eat at.

I have mixed reviews about this place. The food is good but the service kinda sucked. We had the honey walnut shrimp, fried fish with lemon, orange chicken, seafood lo mein and bbq pork rice. All were very tasty however I would skip the orange chicken, it was too sweet. I appreciate the freshness of the seafood and would go back for those selections. The service was not up to par, very little interaction with wait staff and when there was it was very rushed and insincere. But if all you want is a good meal than go here, if your like me and equate a good meal to include good service than maybe think twice.

A Chinese restaurant that plays Filipino music...now you KNOW what kind of crowd frequents this spot, he he he. I went back during Thanksgiving weekend with my gf and her fam. Well, it's chinese food, and I like Chinese food(or as the Chinese would call it...food). Their menu, at least in my opinion, isn't too different from most other similar establishments. However, all of these same items are quite good...and just like the other reviewers said, the 1000 yr pork and the salt and pepper porkchop and squid all stood out for me. Good chinese food, decently priced, and apparently one of the few in the area...and totally affordable - you can't really go wrong. Service - We had a large party and it was a little tough for them to get us situated for some reason, tho they can easily cater to parties this size...we had to help move some seats and the table to better fit our group. There were some communication issues btwn our party and the servers, and they can come off a little rude...but I kinda expect that from Chinese restaurants. Not being stereotypical about Chinese ppl, because Filipino restaurants are the same...there isn't much "courtesy," per se. He did speak some tagalog to us, so that was kinda funny...and like I said, not the most polite, but we got everything we ordered and they were cool enough. Parking can be a little hectic...the parking lot isn't huge, but there's plenty of street parking from what I remember. A great place to go to if you're in the area...but it can get crowded.

How this place has 4 stars is beyond me. Maybe we just came on an off day. The noodles were over sauced. The green beans were over cooked. The salt and pepper shrimp was not crispy. We had one dish with chicken, veggies and a sauce that was just slimy and lacked flavor.

Best Chinese in the area. Been going here for years. Calamari, honey walnut shrimp, 1000 year old pork, and fried fish in spicy salt are absolutely excellent. Could not find a better version anywhere near this place. The Chinese wait staff and greet in english, chinese, and even in tagalog! It's pricer than some of the other Asian restaurant around, but portions and taste more than make up for it.

This was a very good, sit down, chinese food restaurant. Too good? The food was so tasty, it made me search around the windows for a "no msg" sign, which I didn't see.... beh... if it was in it, I didn't care- the food tasted great. The server we had was very good- super attentive, which was a stark contrast to some of the other bland servers/waiters walking around (one of which I was SURE was family to the owner) but I didn't care our guy was great. He recommended the fish and asparagus. It didn't sound like a winning combination to me, but was superb. The crispy fried pork was up there too. Over all- 5+ stars.

Arrived and we asked to move the table away from the wall to which the manager told us that it would be too difficult. When we got our first bowl of soup, the manager pushed the soup to the corner which caused the tea to top over and spill all over the table and onto 3 people. When we asked to change tables, he told us that the tables are all full even though the restaurant was empty. When we asked to change the table cloth, he told us that it is too much trouble and that accidents happen. Customer service...horrible

When I came here, I wasn't expecting much-- after all, my hosts did inform me that this was the only good Chinese restaurant in the city. Let that be a lesson-- if it's the only game in town, it may be because they kicked the smack out of their competition. Town Sent Restaurant is an unassuming Chinese restaurant that specializes in seafood, but features a fantastic value, great portions, friendly service, and a great experience. We came for dinner and ordered sizzling beef, tofu with chicken, sauteed eggplant, westlake beef soup, and the steamed shrimp. We ordered one more dish, but I'm drawing a blank on it right now. All the menu items were served hot and fresh-- I could tell that the ingredients were fresh, and of considerable quality. The vegetables were crisp and crunchy, the eggplant soft and tender, and the shrimp... these were live shrimp, and while I could not tell the exact species, are not the regular white shrimp or tiger shrimp in a restaurant-- no, these were more likely crystal shrimp, aka what you get when you order amaebi at sushi places. This was good stuff. The tofu we received was soft and silken, lacking the calcium flavor that cheap tofu can have-- which means that they used good tofu, cooked it expertly, or both. The flavor was just right, and not too salty. Just the right kick, great on the steamed rice. As noted, the eggplant was soft and tender, and was not excessively oily. Some oiliness is unavoidable due to the nature of the eggplant, but the fact that it was full of flavor and did not drip in oil is a testament to how good it was. We ate to our hearts' content and found that we still had enough for at least one full meal. Our waiters were prompt with addressing needs, tea and water refills, and made sure that our experience was satisfying. If the value, service, and flavor is not enough incentive for you to check this place out, do note that this place has its own parking lot. It's a surprisingly big bonus! Overall, I'm glad to have found this place. Even with Rowland Heights and Monterey Park so close by, Town Sent still holds its own and is definitely worthy of a repeat visit. Yet another thing to be glad for!

Wow, like a hidden needle in a haystack to say the least! It's very good Chinese, especially the eggplant sauteed with black bean sauce - DELISH! We went out today for lunch, all 5 of us, and ordered pan-fried noodle chicken, mushroom beef, shrimp and eggs, fish filet in black bean sauce, and eggplant in black bean sauce! All were amazing and I love that it comes with soup and rice. All in all, each of us paid $8 tip/tax included and "traveled to a happier place" according to the fortune cookie :P And service was excellent as well. Very upbeat and professional!

Been here quite a few times over the past few years with the future in-laws and fiancee for various (mostly bday) celebrations. The reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there are definitely places that are better, especially in the adjacent MP & SGV vicinity, but it's still a solid place to go...with the overwhelming abundance of Chinese eateries in Covina. :smirk: Ted is one of the many old school waiters here and he always takes care of my SO and her family when we come in. He knows that we down a lot of water and he knows by now to just leave the pitcher so he doesn't have to bother coming back to refill. Nice guy. Seriously! So, on to the food. The crab or lobster is always a good choice. Get it stir-fried with the garlic and onions-- deelish. Lettuce wraps with minced meat are always a favorite. Anything fried here is good: fish, shrimp, chicken, etc. Their Frialator or wok or whatever it is they use turns all the aforementioned to golden brown goodness-- fish fried so well, you'll eat it bones and all. If you're lucky enough to sit next to the front entrance, you get to see waiters pulling live spot prawns and other live seafood from their tanks to their tasty deaths. Who says there isn't a free show with dinner? Yay! Plenty of parking, not too pricey, lots of banquet room space in the back for large birthdays/showers/barmitzvahs/whathaveyou. Lots of families with their 91621423 kids along for the ride. Did I mention the 70s decor with the big red 88's hanging from the ceiling? This place is fun for the whole family... bring moms, pops, your Tita Baby and Tito Boy, bring em all!

I only come here because my family does. Nothing wrong with it, food is tasty enough, prices are decent, service is efficient but on the side of rough (guess it helps that an uncle knows someone who works here). Just can't get over the hole-in-the-wall, hellish parking, sardine style seating, fingers in your water glass, peach tablecloth with the wooden table underneath peeking through kind of experience. Hey, I can rough it up when it comes to authentic chinese restaurants. Sadly, I am not just not feeling this one. :(

First time; and had over 6 dishes. Won ton Walnut Shrimp Chicken Chinese Broccoli Orange Beef Thousand Year Pork Kung Pow Chicken Everything was pretty good, for the money is the key. Service is pretty good and the music is 80's go figure. It's one of those places, which leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy... Might be food coma.

Good place for larger groups of people at a very affordable price- more so during lunch, when they have lunch specials. I haven't had one dish I did not like or did not think was tasty.Meals include rice and soup (usually egg drop) and oranges at the end. Recommendations: Clams in garlic sauce, fish fillet with spring onions, crispy fried squid, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, seafood crispy noodles, walnut shrimp, and pea sprouts or any other green veggie on the lunch special menu (I'm not a big fan of stir fried green vegetables, but this place makes them so savory and tasty). However, I will give warning though, that if you come for the lunch special on a holiday or special day (like memorial day, Easter Sunday, etc.) they sometimes DO NOT have the lunch specials and go by the dinner menu instead...so watch out for that. Other than that, this place is decent for the price, and I always leave with leftovers. If you're into Sam Woo type food (minus the BBQ anything), I'd recommend this place for LUNCH.

Wanted Chinese food, but didn't want the fast food type. Found this place on Yelp. I figured that since it had 4 stars and a majority of the reviewers really liked it, I would try it. Tried the walnut honey shrimp and chicken with veggies. Both were wonderful. I watched as the waiters delivered food to tables around me and everything looked so yummy. The service was outstanding. I can't believe that I've lived in the area for so long and never tried this place. I'm looking forward to going back.

I don't crave Chinese food that often, so when I do it better be good. Service is mediocre, but staff is courteous. We had the BBQ pork not what I expected. I prefer the dry red dye version than the soy sauce version. It was ok. The jumbo walnut shrimp was not bad-is that mayonnaise glazed on? My favorite is the house fried rice and the garlic green beans are the best! Super crunchy and garlicky. They lose a star since no one came around to refill our drinks. I haven't had almond jello in a long time, so it was refreshing to have after devouring the garlic green (lots 'o garlic!). I think the jello had condensed milk? MMMMmmmm. I'd come back for sure and order take out.

Went for the first time and it was delicious!! I will definitely go back again. There fish was so fresh and amazing, loved there tea too!! My only complaint is that they never refill your drinks, its like pulling teeth to get them to come back around to get refills, but that's not going to stop me from coming back again!! Great job

So apparently, this is my bf and his familys go-to place for chinese food. I'm pretty sure the waiters know them already. anyways, went here this past sunday with them for the first time. cant really tell you much about service because i got there when all the food was already ordered and served. the food they ordered was basically like any other chinese place. there was the lettuce wrap, the walnut shrimp, orange beef, etc. all the dishes were pretty good! they also have almond jello which was good too, but i was too full to finish mine.

I can honestly say that food from Town Sent has been some of the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. My family and I were in the area, visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area, ended up Yelping (*wink, wink*) some Chinese restaurants, looking for Crab in Black Bean sauce, and came across this page...so, we decided to see for ourselves how accurate these rave reviews were. Lo and behold, they were right! Ted greeted us at the door in such a friendly and humorous way, and surprised us when he spoke to us in our native tongue, Tagalog! We ordered the Rock Cod in Black Bean Sauce, the Crab in Black Bean Sauce, Honey Glazed Walnut Prawns, Tofu with Mushrooms, and the Crab Soup. All of it tasted wonderful - my favorite being the rock cod. The greatest part of it was my boyfriend, who rarely eats fish, loved the rock cod as well...He was still craving for it the next day! The best part of it is that you know the seafood is fresh - you can see it in the tanks they have in the restaurant. The service here was exceptional - although everyone was hustling and bustling, and the food was delivered quickly, the waiters never skipped a beat in refilling your teapot when it was empty or checking to make sure everything was okay, and made sure you got what you needed. Thank you, Ted and the rest of the staff...We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area!

If you're craving for authentic Chinese food, this is the place to go. Service was excellent. Food was cooked perfectly--fish was tender, seasoning for all was just right and was not overly salty, pork was fried very crispy and still tender. Everything tasted good and fresh!

Bf's family comes here so often the waiters know them! So I knew I was in for a great meal when they took me here for dinner. I can't remember all that we ordered (or the names of the ones I do remember) but everything was delicious, from the meats to the fish to the veggies.

Ever since I was in middle school, I've always come here with family and friends. Its funny because one of the waiters is canto and tries to speak tagalog... I guess that's why dad wanted to come back all the time. Not only that... they have really good food! For an event I held I decided to treat some of my close friends (at the time) out, the bill came to at least 200-300$. That was for like... 11 people. Here's somethings I could recommend. lemon Chicken, sizzling steak, any of the fried rice dishes / noodle dishes... The SEAFOOD. If you're into that. I come back every so often, check it out!

Two of us ladies decided to try this restaurant. The waiter served us a soup which had splintered pork bones and a film of oil on the top while the rest of the customers had hot and sour soup. We asked if we could have the same fruit set up as the rest of the customers and it never came. We asked for chopsticks to eat our food and quietly ate vowing never to return. Don't cross the head waiter.

The consistency really ranges from a 2 to 4 rating. This place is sort of "Americanized" in a sense, and you can tell by the names of some of the dishes (i.e. "Dynnomite Chicken" or something of that nature). However, the neighborhood should be grateful to even have a place like this nearby so that they can avoid Rowland "Chinatown" Heights and the notoriously bad driving and parking. They have great variety and the price is good considering their is no competition. I would still go somewhere else for lobster since its cheaper in RW or San Gabriel, but it is very good nevertheless. Overall, a solid place to get chinese food! You just have to try different dishes to find out what they are not good at making.

First of all, I am Asian, but my WHITE friend brought me here saying this is the best Chinese restaurant in Covina. I came and had some walnut shrimp, beef lo mein, and salt & pepper crispy squid. all were pretty good except the squid either had too much salt in one or not enough in the other but it was good to my pov. Not the best Chinese food I've had but this is one of the good ones. Staff is friendly and the joke alot with you. makes you feel welcome.

It seems that everytime we go visit my in-laws, we end up eating here. The staff all recognize my in-laws so we always seem to be able to get a table right away. Food was good, service was great and fast. Not the absolute best chinese food I've ever eaten, but decent.

Went here for an uncle's birthday lunch and we ordered a TON of food for everyone so there was a lot to review.. I've been going to Town Sent for a number of years now, but I had not eaten here for quite some time prior to today. Some notables on the table were the Walnut Shrimp, Deep fried shrimp, Stir Fried Green Beans and Deep Fried Pork Chops. All of these dishes basically met the standards that I've developed and suited my tastes for the meal at hand. However there was some disappointment on the table too. For instance, their Deep Fried Chicken was dry and seemingly tasteless. It lacked a lot of seasoning and after a couple of pieces I stopped eating it because there were other tasty options. The simple Egg Drop Soup was also a big let down. I have simple tastes and pleasures in life and Egg Drop Soup is one of them. This was unfortunately creamy mush that was devoid of any real taste. Maybe I just caught them on a lazy day, but how can a Chinese restaurant really mess this simple appetizer up? Other than that, it was an enjoyable lunch overall. The service was good to our large group, but keep in mind they weren't busy at all. I'd go again, but over the years I've found other spots that suit my tastes more now.

This is one of my fave Chinese restaurants in the area. The weekend and weekday lunch specials are super cheap for the amount and quality of the food received. For dinner, the quality and quantity of the food is even better. Most Chinese restaurants I have been too the service was always rushed and many times rude. Here...although waiters are bustling around...the service is still fine. Ted is the best. He always greets us, chats up with us, and even busts out his Tagalog. I think it is pretty funny when you come to eat in a Chinese restaurant and they play tagalog music in the background...I guess thats how it is when you have a Chinese restaurant in Covina :) I have never been disappointed with any of there dishes there. I definitely though recommend any of their fresh seafood offerings straight from their tanks. I highly recommend.

This is my girlfriend's dad's favorite restaurant, so I've been here a bunch of times. There's nothing special about this place. It's decent Chinese food, nothing really spectacular or anything special that you can't find at any other Chinese restaurant. The food is super greasy, but what Chinese restaurant isn't right?

Somewhere closer to 4 stars, but rounded up for the convenience. Living in the city of Covina really limits the choice of chinese restaurants. There are some okay spots in West Covina, but Town Sent is literally a few minutes away from home. When we go, it's usually during lunch hours cuz it's CHEAP! What's so special about lunch? The big bowl of steamed rice is free, the tea is free, and you get free soup too! Yay! The entrees we get tend to be within the $5-7. One choice is usually enough because it's a lot of food meant to be eaten family style, and we always order the beef chow mein too. This can feed 3 of us for less than $14 or 15, with leftovers. We do dinner sometimes too, but it sucks having to pay for soup when you get spoiled by lunch specials. ha. Their specials on shrimp is pretty decent. Most people order it fried salt and pepper style. Pretty good stuff. I like the staff. It's a bunch of Cantonese doods that like to chat up the customers. :)

Tried this place for the first time awhile back~and we loved it! Filet mignon w/onions & peppers was delicious as was the house special noodles, honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken. Will try the 9.99 a lb shrimp 2nd lb free special next time! Real old school chinese resturant feel to it too. A must try!

It has the best service compared to any Chinese restaurant of this type in all of San Gabriel Valley. The prices are very reasonable and the menu has a very wide selection. You won't be disappointed.

I work in Covina and frequent this place for lunch with my coworkers. We're always pleased with the food as it is quiet delicious. This is the best Chinese food in town. Kung Pao shrimp is amazing, my personal favorite. I haven't tried all the dishes but thus far have found most of them to be very good. Service is pretty good although it sometimes seems to take forever to get a bill and pay. Credit cards are only accepted if your order is over $20.

The best Chinese food spot in the area. For better, you pretty much have to go back to Alhambra, Monterey Park, San Gabriel area, but let's be honest, there are worse out in that area too. If this spot was still located in Alhambra, I would deduct a star. I have been going here since they first opened years ago and been eating with this crew of people when they had their restaurant in Alhambra. The plus side is that the special lunch is extended to weekends and not just weekdays. I also appreciate that this place can cater to both the Chinese and others planning to eat Chinese. There are dishes meant for either the traditionalist and those that aren't into those dishes. There are even two types of soups most days depending on what they feel your table would appreciate (ie can you deal with the chicken feet floating in your soup or not). Though not the greatest of soups, both are up to par especially when you consider that both are free with your lunch. For dinner, their portions are a bit more, but their preparation is much better as well as the ingredients as compared to the special lunch items. For their seafood, you really can't go wrong with live tanks. Again, the closest places for this is in Rowland or Alhambra areas. Their service is excellent. I have shown up 5 minutes from closing on a weekday and they still do everything they can for you. Never have I had a bad experience with their service. They even remember my friends that I sometimes bring and their need for chopsticks or not. This may not seem like much since I run in diverse ethic groups, but when the mix is a Chinese speaker that needs a fork, a Mexican and White guy not, this is impressive.

I can name many of our favorites. And it's not the usual we like eggplant sauteed in black bean sauce, my boyriend loves jelly fish or duck feet. Our must-have for every meal is pan friend house chow mein and Mint clams with black bean sauce. If you want fish, you've got to try the Broiled or Friend Rock-Cod. It's amazing. I'm salivating and wish I can go there right now.

This place is a diamond in the rough. My boyfriend and I were looking for good chinese food; he had wanted to come here forever. Outside it doesn't look impressive. Inside is another story: fresh live fish in the tank, linen tablecloths, waiters dressed in black and white, violin music playing in the background. Come as you are! We had chow fun noodles, (wide, flat noodles), no "gravy", with chicken and it was delicious and enough for all dinner. But we ordered other items too and had a feast. The eggplant and steak hot pot was not to my liking but it was still delicious. Wonton soup was excellent with little balls of meat/veggie mixture. There's enough food for two just with one order of any item. Next time we'll try the sweet/sour fish as it looked delicious on the plates passing us by as we sat at our table. Dinner prices very reasonable ($11); and lunch there is very inexpensive. Two college students were seated at the table behind us, who had a feast of beef with peppers, lemon chicken, soup, rice. Families were there. We'll definitely be back. We've found our place in Covina!

Overall one of the best chinese food around. You really cant go wrong with any of the items. Right now they have a Live Shirmp Special buy 1 pound get 1 pound free for only $10 bucks. Now that is a great deal. Below are some of my all time favorites. 1) Salted chicken (get only half a chicken that is marinated the best) 2) Salt and Pepper Pork Chops 3) Walnut Shirmp 4) Braised tofu 5) Any of the sizzling plates 6) Steamed Fish 7) Almond jello

It is okay, I think that Chinese food in Alhambra is still better. But, being located in Covina, it is pretty decent. This is what I recommend to order and not: Order: * honey glazed walnut shrimp * hot and sour soup * string bean stir-fry Not so good: * salty anchovy, chicken, and tofu stew (bau) * garlic stirred-fry on-choy * sizzling sweet beef (don't remember what it was called) It was okay, prefer to eat in Monterey Park.

I would call the food here more like Panda Inn type food, however that is not a criticism. The food here is pretty darn tasty. I used to come here pretty often with my family, usually after church or for birthdays. There are lots of great dishes here: honey walnut shrimp, deep fried flounder, house special chow mein (with crispy noodles!), eggplant with hot garlic sauce, crispy fried shrimp, salt and pepper squid, and crispy fried pork chop, just to name a few. A family favorite is the sizzling rice soup. It's such a fun show to watch the waiter drop the rice into the soup and here the sszzzzzz. This is a great lunch and dinner place for families and groups and highly affordable. It was also super convenient when I lived in Covina. Most of the restaurants in Covina are chains, so it's nice to have something different and really, really good.

When I crave for Chinese food I usually think of going to Chinatown in L.A. or the other Chinatown on Colima Rd. But thank goodness for Town Sent in Covina, which is in my neck of the woods, because just thinking about driving approximately 30 minutes just tires me out! This spot is the next best thing only because it's much closer and you get the same service just like any other Chinese restaurant: busy, loud, and chaotic. The servers themselves are attentive, have a great sense of humor, and to top it off they speak a little bit of Tag-lish (Tagalog-English) and sometimes, if you pay attention to their music they play, it's Filipino folklore....go figure! Yah, also my parents apparently knows one of the head servers there by the name of "Guapo" which they have NO idea what his real name is! LOL The last visit was during Easter with the family. We ordered the typical huge spread they offer when you have a big group like ours: lettuce wraps, honey walnut shrimp, fried rice, fried pork chops, beef with asparagus, shark fin soup, mushrooms with scallops, pan fried noodles, and for dessert almond jello. Yes, I'm full just repeating that entire menu and I'm about to go out to dinner tonight! All in all, food was delicious and came to our table fresh and hot. Price is decent and not outrageous just like House of Louie! One thing I wish they had was dim sum during the weekends....I know, right? Oh well, they're still good to me :)

I came here for lunch with some coworkers and shared the Fried Pork Chop, Fried Fish Fillet, Beef with Chinese Broccoli and Cashew Chicken. I liked the first three, but the Cashew Chicken was just all right (not because it was bad but because I don't like Cashew Chicken.) I would like to try the Black Bean Clams, Mabo Dofu, Thousand Year's Pork, Szechuan Green Beans and Steamed Fish. For one of the only Chinese restaurants in the area, Town Sent is legit Chinese food. I felt like I was in Monterey Park or Rowland Heights, quite a compliment for any Chinese restaurant. Prices are very good, especially lunch specials, which include rice and soup for $6-$8 per entree. Service is quick and friendly, and I like how the waiters call people "chief" and "friend." Don't expect anything more than good, cheap Chinese food as the restaurant is not much to look at, but that's not why you're there anyway. Right?

My parents have been frequenting this place for a while. I joined them for the first time and really liked it. Their service was fantastic (but it probably helps that my mother gives them a box of homemade cookies each time they eat here). We had the sizzling rice chicken soup, chasiu chow fun, minced chicken lettuce wraps, volcano beef steak with black pepper and asparagus (note: I don't eat seafood so we ordered dishes that I would eat and not what my family would normally order here). The beef was okay but the other dishes were very good. I liked the sizzling rice soup and the chow fun. My parents have told me that some of the seafood dishes that they have ordered have been delicious. It is really great to find a good nearby Chinese restaurant without having to drive to some place like Alhambra or China Town.

Place was renovated back in 2008 with extension for private parties. Food tastes good and the price is reasonable. Don't go in the hours between 11:00am-1:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm or you will have to wait 30-45 minutes (not everyday though). You may call in advanced to place an order if you are a regular customer and save a shed for you. I will give 4 stars for good food and reasonable price.

I love this place!!! I am so happy we found it. The fish dishes are excellent, delicate and yet full of flavor. The beef dishes are rich and also so well balanced. The noodles with veggies are a fave. The veggies they put in their dishes are robust and fresh and generous. Try something from each category. Everything is delish! OH but two TIPS: Do not assume steamed rice in included..it is so sad when you order to eat at home, then disover-no rice!?!? And, their eggrolls, very unfortunately for me, are strange in flavor..I could not even eat one as they taste like they are dusted with cinnamon and/or cloves??? So order everything but the eggrolls and do not forget the rice!

I picked up some victuals from TS recently. New to this part of town, we were looking for a serviceable, local Chinese hut. I drove in the pouring rain to retrieve a small panoply (...) of items, including double-mushroom beef (well, they gave me chicken), kung pao, lo mein, broccoli beef, and egg rolls. One of two other things should have happened: some steamed rice should have been included; or, Mr. Charisma at the front desk should have asked me if I wanted to order some. Other than that and the chicken-switch, it was pretty good. I think we'd go back. The egg rolls have something a little interesting going on about them, a sweetish spice, but I got used it. The dining room looks comfortable and clean, too. Hao!

Best Lunch Specials!!! We ordered 3 items, came with soup, vegetable roll, and rice served family style. The items we ordered only cost $5.96 each. Great flavor, generous servings....Wow!!! Loved the string beans and the beef brisket with turnip!

It was actually pretty nice finding a "good" Chinese restaurant near work. It's already been reviewed to death, so here are some of my bullet points. - Nice selection of different dishes, most for less that $7. Served family style, it's best if you go with a number of people so that you can sample a variety of different items. - The food arrives pretty quickly, which is a huge plus, especially if you only get an hour for lunch during the week. - Service is not their strong suit, so don't expect to see your waiter after the food has been served. You'll see the waiter again when they deem it's time for you to pay the bill. I've only been here once, but I definitely foresee a return visit in my future. Also, parking is somewhat limited, so you want to get there early for lunch.

Went last Friday night to try this place for the first time. I am always looking for good chinese food without driving too far from Glendora. We had won ton soup, hot and sour soup, lettuce wraps, sauteed green beans with ground pork. The soups were very good, especially the won ton. We didn't care for the lettuce wraps but I think it was the style they prepared them, not that they weren't good. I like lettuce wraps with crispy cellophane noodles. They don't do that here. The green beans were good. All in all, it was good food for a good price. I must return to try their other dishes. This is by far the best chinese restaurant I have tried other than Rowland/Hacienda/Monterey,etc.

We mozied on down to this establishment when we realized that our "Go To" pho place was closed on a Tuesday. Double-U Tee Eff? I had been wanting to eat here for a while seeing as this appears to be the only authentic Chinese food in the neighborhood near my workplace. All of you who are reading this probably already know that a primary indicator of a good Chinese restaurant is a huge crowd of Asians in the waiting area that, at minimum, has people packed like sardines pouring out the front door. Having driven by this place on the weekends during lunchtime, I verified the existence of said crowds. What we ordered: Sizzling Rice Soup w/Chicken; Mongolian Beef; Honey Walnut Shrimp w/Mayo; and Chicken Chow Mein. The soup had the potential for greatness, but two things bugged me. First off, there was way too much ginger. Secondly, the pieces of chicken were too large. I've watched enough footage of Iron Chef Chen Kenichi, Martin Yan, and Ming Tsai to know that Chinese cooks slice meat in bite-sized portions for the convenience of the eater. That's 2 demerits. All the other dishes were excellent, with more than adequate serving sizes. I'd gladly order from this place for Take Out. Sadly, service for the day left much to be desired. It was 3PM in the afternoon, and there was only one other party dining at the time. Despite this reasonably easy workload, our waiter rarely came back to check if the teapot and ice water needed refilling, to see how we were progressing with our meal, and to find out if finished dishes needed to be cleared from the table. You only get one chance to make a first impression guys!

I have been coming here for years but Friday night I had the best meal in while. Shrimp and spicy salt, Rock Cod in a Black Bean Sauce and a 3lb dungeons crab in a black bean sauce with a two side of Broccoli and steamed rice. An I can't forget the Ching Thoa Beer, a meal for a king!!!!! All their dishes are very good but stick to the Seafood........ It's the best in town.

Been here a few times. Food is a hit or miss, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the beef is tender other times you'd swear you're eating jerky. Last time the noodle dish was mushy with no flavor, the walnut shrimp was way overcooked and very dry however the black bean fish was excellent, tender & moist. Greenbeans nice & flavorful. Watch the drinking glasses, sometimes they don't looks too clean. I'll try it again & keep you posted. The parking lot fills up quickly so sometimes you have to park elsewhere & walk across the street.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
