Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza was good. I will give them that. But I won't return. But unless I call way ahead for pickup. The service was interminably slow. I watched a table that needed to be bussed the entire time I was there. Gross. Waited 20 minutes to have order taken and an hour for the food. Unacceptable. Don't get the sandwiches. Too much bread ( how is that possible?) and the insides are pre-made/frozen- mine was the buffalo chicken. Summary: get a delicious pizza by calling way ahead and pick up for consumption at home.
(2)Robert H.
This place is gluten free friendly with pizza dough and even gluten free beer. The sauce is sweet tasting and not overwhelming with to many spices. They offer gluten free bread for the sandwiches and gluten free meatballs too. And if gluten isn't a concern to you, you're in luck too. Simply put they cater to all patrons with great food.
(5)Wally W.
Was here for a group dinner. It is very small inside, so if you want to accommodate many people, I'd look elsewhere. The pizza is very NY style thin - but it was too crispy. Not enough bread to even feel full or fold because it would break apart. Everything was kind of expensive - and the crust was so thin. They didn't really pile on the toppings either. Also, there's practically no parking outside.
(3)Laura B.
I literally dream about this pizza! Like another reviewer said, a good ol' cheese pizza can tell you a lot about the quality of their ingredients, as well as the love that goes into making it.... And this place rocks at what they do! Perfectly foldable, delish NY style pizza (in an area full of gross chains)...Fresh and bright pizza sauce and don't forget the home-made ranch- garlicky goodness! Next time I'm trying the KALE CEASAR SALAD (their CEASAR is as good as the ranch) and I heard they're bringing in Pliny the Elder due to popular demand (?). Great, reasonable prices. Stamp cards, friendly service and locally and family owned. ...No wonder i wake up drooling...
(5)Brett F.
Great pizza! The care that went into making my pizza was obvious when I got home and opened the box to see the most beautiful pizza I have ever seen! Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it was a solute my delicious as well! I can't wait to get another!
(5)Jake C.
Pizza always black as night on the bottom. Ugh. I give up on this place. Back down to three stars.
(3)Stacie S.
Great place! Good pizza and definitely coming back for more!
(5)Katherine B.
This is my favorite pizza place. When you walk it you just know this place is going to be good because it smells amazing. Every pizza I've had here tastes great, but my absolute favorite are the pesto twists. They're so good I could have them as my meal. Not a lot of seating inside but if it's not too busy you can get a table. Otherwise take out or delivery is how I go.
(5)Wanda B.
I just got a pizza tonight and they have actually improved their crust...it was just a bit soggy before but no more!..And the ingredients as always were delicious...and it was delivery and I am so happy right now!
(5)Dom C.
Won't find better New York style pizza in Sonoma County. Sweet little pizza joint in downtown Cotati. Try any of their specialty pizzas, also their Sicilian pizza is friggin delicious too.
(5)Jack B.
Really good pizza. I had a personal pepperoni for lunch and my friend had a meat pizza. We both agreed it was delicious pizza.
(5)Holly J.
Wow! Fabulous pizza, excellent service. The vibe in there has completely changed with the new ownership. I will definitely be coming here a lot! So happy to have a good affordable pizza place around. Highly recommended!
(5)J C.
We love Sal's! And, they are one of only a few restaurants who will deliver to a rural neighborhood!
(5)Clare O.
I just ordered the mini combo and the spinach salad. I'm not much of a pizza lover, but decided to give it a try as it's 2 minutes away. The pizza was delicious - perfectly cooked crust, nice sauce. Salad was amazing with cranberries and slivered almonds and the best dressing I've ever had. It's nice to have good eateries in Cotati. I think this place is going to do really well.
(5)Kim M.
Stopped in on opening day & ordered a pizza & salad, which was delicious! Went back a couple days later to try the cannoli dessert (wonderful) which I'd seen advertised on their Facebook page. Took home some chicken strips & garlic bread sticks for dinner later. All great tasting food & they have gluten free on the menu. Can't wait to try more & so glad to have them in the Cotati/Rohnert Park neighborhood of great little mom & pop restaurants. And they deliver!
(5)Linda S.
We have been there 2X and both times the pizza was great! Especially the thin crust..my favorite.
(5)VeggieLover S.
They have the perfect cheese pizza! Try the cheesy pesto sticks. They have gluten free options too. Definitely going back!
(5)Gertrude S.
By far my favorite pizza place ever! I didn't think it could get any better after The Little New Yorker, but it did! I've introduced many people to this place and they all love it! Reminds me of genuine New York pizza. Definitely recommend it!
(5)Susan B.
We have gotten pizza's from them regular combo, which was very good. Then we ordered a Clam & garlic piazza delicious only other place to get this is a Mombo's , we think Sal's is the best.
(5)Phil G.
Pretty good pizza. Kinda pricy and delivery can take a long time but when eating in or picking up it works well.
(3)Pam R.
Hands down, best pizza ever. Amazing caesar salad, too. Speedy, good prices - crave worthy.
(5)Eli S.
Spectacular! Finally someone who knows what they are doing takes over this little spot. Thank you!
(5)Danielle B.
Everything was delicious. Ordered pizza, pesto breads sticks, chefs salad, and a chicken parm sub to be delivered. They have great delivery time, and the food arrived hot, not warm, but actually hot. Everything was fresh, the sauce on the sub and pizza was so flavorful. I can wait to go back and try the dessert too!
(5)David M.
Generously-sized mini pizza with incredible sauce! They have gluten-free dough for those who need it. Tasty Sicilian wine and a solid selection of bottled craft beers. I was planning my next visit after the first bite. Great addition to Cotati dining and, they deliver!
(5)Sarah H.
So glad we gave this pizza place another try! We had ordered pizza there several times before (when it was the Little New Yorker) and we had experienced extremely rude service and several times got home with a pizza only to find out the crust was burnt. Things have really changed since Sal's (owner of The New Yorker's pizza in Petaluma) son has taken over. They are extremely friendly and the pizza is amazing!!! We try and get there at least once a week now - my teenager and her friends love it and sadly we never seem to have leftovers for the next day! If anyone has had a bad experience there in the past, give it another try - I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the changes!!!!
(5)Esky P.
Someone from New Jersey told me this place was the closest to east side pizza. Many of my friends from the east coast tell me that mombos is the closest to their pizza but the sauce is better tasting at sals, and the crust isn't as hollow and doesn't crack apart. Being able to get pizza by the slice is nice too and is like New York. I've tried the canoli too which was bomb
(5)Harminder D.
The best New York style pizza in Sonoma County! I love the zesty tomato sauce so much so that I will lick it off my plate! The veggies have a fresh taste and they do not skimp on it. I always order take out and it usually takes around 20 minutes to prepare which is not bad at all. The inside of the pizzeria is not large which gives more one on one interaction with the staff. If you are craving quality pizza - this is the place to go!
(5)Shannon M.
Great pizza just like the mothers restaurant in Petaluma. Pizza crust is thin and crunchy and when asking for lite sauce you actually get the pizza you want. My boyfriend is allergic to onions so the light on sauce is supper important and they know that and make sure there are no huge chunks on our pizza. The ceaser salad is huge, it took me 2 days to eat it all. And for those hung over morning this is the only cold pizza to eat!!!
(5)Monica A.
Great pizza choices. We went on a whim and used the yelp deal. We were not disappointed! Nice service too.
(4)Shawn S.
Looked up the best pizza near Sonoma State on Yelp and Sal's showed up with 5 stars. Nora took my order and recommended the marguerita pizza. Either I was very hungry from a long day of driving hwy 1 all the way from Ventura or, as I suspect, it was a great pizza. A must have if you ever find yourself in downtown Cotati.
(5)Jay B.
Ordered large combo today for pick up at lunch, it was delicious, staff was friendly and extremely courteous, the only bad thing was, the box leaked on the seat of my car, luckily it leaked on a hat, which I was able to wash, however, there shouldn't be that much running liquid in the box, not only was the pie a bit soggy in the center, like I said, it was so much, it leaked, they should find a solution to this problem ASAP, that said, the pizza itself, other than the center being soggy, was definitely one of the best combo we've had, thank you Sal's!
(5)Jason M.
Very welcome in Cotati. A solid ny-style pie. Huge thanks for selling by the slice and having yelp discounts. My attention is always on the sauce, and wish it could elevate the proceedings to excellence here. Also, too much crust on the end, and usually not tasty enough to polish off. Try the Opa special, pepperoni, garlic, jalapeños, baked well done. Nice to see clam and garlic as a specialty topping. I'll go there next time. Recommended.
(4)Byron P.
Great family, great food. The price is definitely right here and the food is very tasty. The only place I go for pizza in the area.
(4)Hope O.
Delicious!! And the prices are great! Pizzas are huge and fast, tasty, big slices and we can't wait to go back.
(5)Celicia S.
Simple, delicious salads. My kiddo and I shared a calzone and it was very yummy. The small was actually quite big and more than enough for lunch and leftovers. Thank you!
(5)Danielle R.
YUM. Great prices too.
(5)J W.
Pretty good little pizza place. My boyfriend and I stopped through here on our drive home to Oregon because I found this place on yelp and wanted to give it a try. The pizza itself was pretty good, I loved the garlic bread with cheese though! Staff is definitely not that friendly though and could use some lessons in customer service. Also, the girl helping us didn't seem too happy when I wanted to use the '20% off your whole order' coupon they have on yelp.

I have to say firstly, that the owner Alyx went above and beyond all expectation to make my next experience from my first super stellar. I explained all the complaints we had and she addressed them all. I have to state how happy we were to get home and open our large pizza to see just how large the large pizza is! I would happily pay the fullest price for it! It's an awesome deal and fed a whole bunch of hungry peeps! The thing I really appreciated though was the how the girl handing the pizza to me pointed out that because the pizza contained a lot of veggies it would get soggy if we left it in the box. I rushed it home (had it there within minutes, we live down the street) and we promptly slid a metal pizza pan under it. Our largest pizza pan barely fit it! This was the total saving grace though. It did seep through the light paper it was on, but the metal pan kept it from getting soggy and from getting the box soggy as well. The flavor of the combo was awesome! A little salty with all the meats, but that was our choice. The toppings were all premium and the garlic was heavy and spot on! We LOVE garlic and were thoroughly impressed. What I really loved about our last to go order was the upgrade in the salad. Alyx told me she was getting new containers and I could tell they changed a bit of the formula of the salads from feedback. OMG! What a difference! We got the side salad and it was a wonderful size to compliment a large pizza. The other thing I really loved about the service when I called in was the detailed explanation of the dressings. The dressings are all homemade and apparently there was a mixup in the formulation of the blue cheese dressing. She said based on the way they had to make it the combined the ranch with literally blue cheese. Maybe it wasn't a mix up, but a lack of ingredients and timing, but either way the girl told me people either love it or hate it. I love blue cheese, but I really don't like ranch so I knew I wouldn't like. Even homemade buttermilk ranch. I've never been a fan really. But I know homemade buttermilk ranch is to die for in some instances. However, we did order the Caesar dressing which sooooo bomb! It was really awesome. It kind of reminded me of a classic Caesar that contained a bit of a twist, like a Champagne vinaigrette. I think someone added a bit more acid (ie lemon juice likely) and that rocked in my book. Perfectly balanced still though. I love my vinegar but this wasn't too much for everyone else trying it, they loved it too. Our honest to God assessment of the food from our first time to our second was night and day. The owner is obviously taking all input and cares very deeply. If you've had a negative experience, give this place another try, but do express your concerns. If it was over or under cooked to your liking, let them know that. It's also obvious they use incredibly high quality ingredients. So take my advice, the larger the pizza you buy ... the better the value and bang for your buck. It may seem a little expensive at first, but when you get that pizza in your hand. You won't want to stop eating it. And the larger it is, the more you share. But seriously, it really is the best bang for your buck. We were super impressed about how much you get for the price of a large. You could seriously feed 4 or 5 hungry guys easily. Where else can you do that for about 30 dollars? And it goes awesome with beer on a Friday night. Need I really say more? I really do appreciate Alyx reaching out about our concerns and addressing them so kindly. This place is totally on our local radar for awesome food. And the last thing worth stating? The staff was over emphatic to hear we were giving the place another try. Why wouldn't they be? They seem like some awesome people to talk to while having your pizza! It's a quaint spot after all! So get cozy, the pizza oven will keep you warm on a cold night ... and a nice cold beer will keep you cool during a hot Summer day. I can't wait to try a bunch of other pizza combinations ... super stoked.

Pizza was pretty good for Northern California, but the pizza sticks got to my group of friends and I. They were ordered with garlic and arrived drenched in oil, making everyone feel uneasy after eating them; although still tasty. Also, pizza sticks should come with at least 1 complimentary marinara sauce, I shouldn't have to pay to dip them. I will try their food again, but this time I'm sticking with the basics - pizza.
(3)Stephen S.
I really like this place. As a former New Yorker the pizza has the New York flavor and texture that we love. The staff is always friendly and conversational. It has a home town feel which is perfect for this area. Definitely try the cannoli for dessert, you won't be disappointed :)
(5)Jamie N.
Yummy! Round Table in RP is closed right now so I went to the pizza place around the corner from my house. It was my twins & mines birthday so it was important the pizza be good. A little hesitant about trying a new pizza place. Went to Sals and told her what I wanted. She recommended the Sicilian. It was delicious. I was so happy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I will be returning.
(5)Brian P.
Walked down with my dog to grab a pizza to go and check out the new spot in town and I was impressed! Pizza was great the people were friendly and it seemed like they were doing great business. I was waiting outside with my dog and they were nice enough to offer to bring her a bowl of water. I will definitely be back. I am stoked to have another great place to get food in town
(5)Nicole C.
Um, clearly I am a regular at this place. I come here ALL the time. The ONLY pizza we ever buy. We love the Opa's and the Pesto twists- but I've also gotten their salads and you seriously can't go wrong with anything on the menu. ESPECIALLY the ranch and other homemade sauces. So delicious. My husband and I literally talk about and come to this place all the time. Friendly and fast service, good little indoor seating and outdoor spots. Everything fresh and delicious. Seriously kicks round table pizza in the ass.
(5)Melissa P.
Waited over an hour, before 5pm on a Wednesday, for a soggy cold pizza with the wrong toppings, boo. I worked as a pizza delivery driver for years, I can tell when I am the last delivery at the soggy bottom of a pile of other people's dinner. When I called back, was told I need to go in to the store for a refund. #1- get your orders right #2- don't take too many deliveries at once, and use 1 hot bag per order so the last unlucky customer doesn't get cold wet pizza #3- pay the credit card fee to refund my pizza, I would not have ordered delivery if I was able to drive over. Sheesh. Terrible. First time and definitely last.

We had our first pizza from Sal's the other night -- a classic Pepperoni pie. It was delivered in far less time than we expected (by Sal himself!) and it was delicious! Hope that Sal's is in business for a long time. We will be adding their number to our speed dial...!
(5)Vickmarie G.
When I think about pizza, I think about Sal's! Love the Pesto Twists! Friendly place, great quality, quantity and price!
(5)Robin O.
Love it when a great restaurant comes to Cotati! Sal's will definitely be a staple for us. The crust has a firm tear with a soft center, the ingredients are top notch and the Cesar salad was great with enough garlic to let you know it is there, but doesn't keep everyone away. I have yet to try their homemade cannoli, but rest assured we will be back again and again.
(5)Joseph V.
Friday night and I was ready for some awesome food to be delivered to my door step. The reviews were great. I may have even had a couple of drinks in me when I placed the order. The level of execution needed was not high. Here's the rundown - The sauce was legit The toppings were quality The dough was seriously lacking - cakey, bread-like. No char. No chewy glutens. The toppings, although yummy, were sloppily piled onto the center and just given no love. If more reasonably priced - a four star review. I would consider other options for the dollar.
(3)Renee C.
Super delicious! We were passing through on way home from camping, and definitely worth the stop. Chef salad was really fresh and good. (Italian dressing is spicy)
(5)Daniel N.
This is hands-down my favorite pizza place in Cotati and may well be the best pizza I have personally ever enjoyed. Consistency is usually great save for perhaps the early afternoon. Any time I order on the weekend the pizza is always the best. Once or twice I ordered on a week day in the early afternoon and the crust was a little bit burnt, but it was a small price to pay considering my love for this pizza. If anyone likes New York style pizza that you can fold if you choose to, Sal's is the place to go. If you don't like floppy pizza with stringy mozzarella, then maybe you should try another place but at least give it a go if you think you would like something like that.
(5)Dan G.
this place is small. the food is. not! meatball sub is huge and tastes awesome. if you eat inside, sandwiches. come with beautiful organic side. salad. dressings all homemade. plaza is slew arriving, all made to order. plenty of beers and wine. service always above avg. pizza is quality and topping is plentiful. I highly reccomend.
(4)Barrie W.
Their pizza is really, really good. Not quite as thin as a true New York pizza, but they do say it's Sicilian influenced. Their wings are yummy & meaty, the salads and sandwiches are also really generous and very good. The only thing that I wish is for them to expand to offer pasta to accompany their options of "side" meatball, eggplant, or chicken Parmesan and be able to create more meals! Aaah well, guess I don't really need the carbs...
(4)Kassandra C.
Sal's Pizzeria has some great pizza. I ordered the pepperoni which was a little greasy but that's just how I like it! The sauce and cheese were tasty with a good ratio. As a college student I got a discount and was really excited about the deal I got. I'll definitely come back several more times while attending university.
(4)Carrie C.
Great pizza: personalized pizza with ricotta, meatballs, black olives, and artichoke hearts. Finished with perfect cannoli. We ordered delivery on a Saturday and were told that it would likely be an hour--to be expected. I know they're busy, and we weren't in a big hurry, so that was okay. Made a salad while we waited. After an hour and a half, I called to check on the status; Alex apologized and assured us that the pizza had recently gone out for delivery, and offered to discount the price (I'd paid in advance by credit card). She charged back a bit more than half to my card, which I really appreciated, and was very professional while being sincerely apologetic. Two hours after first ordering the delivery man called and said he was having trouble finding our specific condo unit (it's dark in our complex). Once he got here, he apologized profusely, and assured us there would be no charge at all. We didn't bother mentioning that we paid by card over the phone. Got a call shortly afterwards from Alex. She left a message letting me know that she would be voiding the card purchase. In spite of the late delivery, got great customer service, and we'll order again. REALLY appreciated that Alex went above and beyond to accommodate us (without any complaint from us, just an inquiry). Thank you for making me feel like a valued customer. That's 5-star service.
(5)Jen R.
Today was my first time trying this place out. Let's just say my kids were not behaving very well. My toddler wanted to run around and refused to eat. I hadn't eaten yet and I was getting a little flustered when the sweetest waitress I've ever come across named Alex came to my aid. She brought my daughter crayons, some cooking utensils, a book and some play toys to occupy her, as well as some cheese to nibble on. She was so compassionate and explained that she had kids as well. Customer service especially good service is hard to come by and its really nice when somebody takes the time to go the extra mile. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and be coming back without my children lol. Thank you so much Alex for being so sympathetic and understanding as my hands were very full!
(5)Cheryl S.
This is one of my favorite pizzerias in town. I absolutely love the crust. It's perfecto, not thick and doughy like most places. The wings and the ranch dressing is my favorite around. I'd like to get their recipe. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my pizza, and hands down these Italians have hit it out of the park. Keep up the good work Sal and familia! You definitely have a customer for life here!
(5)Joanna M.
This is the only pizza place where we can get our daughter to eat the left overs from :) (She even bragged to her best friend about how great the cheese bread and meat balls are...she's 8!!!) We love bringing our friends and family even when it's close to closing time. They don't rush us. The kids love it. The price it great. Even the drive from Santa Rosa is worth it. The cheese bread and meatballs are a must try!
(5)Krista T.
This was our first time having this pizza and we loved it! This will now be our new go to pizza place!! Fast delivery and very hot upon arrival. So yummy...thank you!!
(5)Christina L.
I love the garlic bread sticks here! So bomb :) The pizza is really good too. My favorite is their combo. I have to take one star off for service though. Any time I have come here I just don't feel that the customer service is that great. They are really slow and can be rude!
(4)Jane B.
This is now my favorite pizza place in Rohnert Park. I love New York style pizza, and this place does a great job of balancing flavors. I love that the olives aren't the bland, boring olives that usually exist on pizza. A few tips: This is a small place, so hours are slightly limited, especially late at night. If you want pizza after 8 or 9, you might need to go elsewhere. And expect delivery to take a while, around 45 minutes. I would love it if they offered a few other toppings (prosciutto, capers, roasted garlic). But I love that they have eggplant and linguica, and their meatballs are more flavorful than what I've had elsewhere.
(5)Carmen S.
Cute spot. Yummy pizza.

My husband and I decided to give this place a shot last night. We had purchased the LivingSocial deal a few weeks back and figured last night was a good time to take advantage. I will preface this by saying the food was AMAZING and I am very stoked they have delivery until 3 on Friday's and Saturday's. The food quality kept the rating at a 4 We called our order in just before 6pm (this took well over 5 minutes to do) and were told our order would take 45 minutes. We were super hungry but figured this was reasonable. 45 minutes came and went and at 7:10 we decided to give Sal's a call. Apparently we were the first to use the deal and our order was lost. The woman who answered the phone apologized and informed us that she would comp our order. We were told it would be on its way in a few minutes. We received our order at about 8 pm. Upon opening the box, it looked as though the pizza had been dropped since a good portion of the cheese was against the box instead of being on the pizza. While worth the wait it wasn't what we expected nor what we really wanted at that point in the evening. Needless to say, we will go to Sal's again to use our LivingSocial deal and hope that the kinks have been worked out by then.

Our first delivery from Sal's was unpleasant. They took over an hour, and our "New York Style Pizza" was decidedly anything but thin crust. But we decided hey, why not cut them a break? Maybe it was just a bad night, we'll try again another time. Besides, a new local business doesn't need an unwarranted 1 star review. They earned this 1 star review, though. We gave them another shot, after hearing from a friend that he really liked them. To Sal's credit, ordering again was our mistake, not theirs. The pizza we just had delivered was an absolute disaster. The stingily applied toppings spilled over the side like the driver had intentionally held the pizza at an extreme angle for a few minutes. It was burnt, too - not brick oven burnt, either, this was a straight up "we forgot about the pizza" amount of burning. The bread sticks were reminiscent of stale cardboard, and had no flavor besides the pile of chili flakes on top. The ranch that came with it can't be described as anything but peppery and overloaded with garlic. We paid nearly $40 for a pizza we ate 2 slices of before throwing it away. We would have asked for a refund, but we weren't going to drive over there- we had it delivered for a reason. We tried Sal's, we really did. It's a shame that you didn't
(1)Amber M.
The first time we went there it was bomb! The crust is very good. Good prices too. The second time it took forever to be delivered and then arrived burnt :/ We have not tried it a third time.
(3)Bonnie K.
So very good. I was surprised as I don't usually like pizza all that much, but this was the best ever! I highly recommend this place. Bonnie K
(5)Reshad O.
I was looking forward to eating New York style type of pizza and watching the Warriors game. I had my friend over with my parents. The pizza tasted terrible and my parents end up not eating. The crust taste like cardboard and the cheese toppings were fallen off soggy too. I end up ordering Round Table pizza for my parents and friend. Little Ceasars would taste much better then this. My mom told me to never order pizza from here again. I won't be going here again in my life time and will go to Mombos for New York Style pizza.

Going down a bit in rating due to last experience. Ordered a pizza, bread sticks and salad for delivery. The girl on the phone was very sweet and the delivery was quick, however, our pizza was not made correctly and it was waaaayyyy under cooked and a soggy, doughy mess. Asked for a few toppings, one of which was green onion. The girl taking the order said she needed to make sure they had green onions because they had run out the day before, so she asked and confirmed they did...but we didn't get green onions, we got green bell peppers. HUGE difference, and green bell peppers are my least favorite pizza topping of all time, and our pizza was completely covered in them. It was a sad day in Pizza Land. Also asked for a several sides of ranch and blue cheese and were charged for them, but only got one of each. The side of blue cheese we got tasted very sour, so we didn't eat that one. The salad and bread sticks were good, but we were pretty bummed that our pizza was not. Will give them another try because our first and only other experience was great, but hopefully we'll get an edible pizza with the toppings we ordered next time around.

This is the only place my husband and I will order delivery from. They are friendly and efficient. Their pizzas are high quality and delicious

First time going to Sal's and all I can say is it will not be the last. We loved the pizza and pesto bread sticks. The staff on the phone and in person were wonderful. If you have not tried Sal's you are doing yourself an injustice. Can't wait to try the sandwiches.

My wife and I are from New York, Brooklyn & Queens to be exact and we are constantly looking for good pizza like we would find back home. Whenever I see a store front sign or advertisement for "New York style pizza" it generally sends up a signal of beware. I have been fooled many, many times before. That is until tonight. Sal's is the real deal and it comes as close to New York pizza as any pizza I have had in California. The crust is perfect, sauce and toppings are superb. The staff was very friendly. I almost gave it 4 stars instead of 5 but most people come for the pizza. Having said that, the only minus was the cannoli. It was okay, but not like New York cannoli. The ricotta was too runny and they weren't stuffed with enough filling. I have had worse, but still not up to par.

Had to go down a star because they delivered my pizza to me uncut and I was moving and had nothing to cut it with. Attention to detail people. I was able to borrow a pizza cutter from a neighbor so it ended up being okay. When I called them back to let them know about the situation they offered to come right over and cut it and threw in 2 free desserts. The pizza was yummy. I ordered Opa's Pizza add pineapple and all my friends liked it too. It's verrrryyyyy New Yorker style though. So if you don't like bendinf your slices to eat it and all the cheese goozing, I'd

As a newer NoCA transplant, and longtime NY pizza aficionado, I've been trying to get my pizza fix in all the wrong places. Sure a basil, goat cheese, fig and who knows what else pizza has its place, but sometimes you gotta get a good old fashioned plain cheese pie. Sadly the local choices, while somewhat serviceable, aren't really that great - after all, properly executing the whole dough, sauce, cheese trifecta into a perfectly done pie just isn't easy to do. Fortunately after reading the Yelp reviews, I sought out Sal's. Friendly folks, a great pie and fast service validated every prior review. Next time the pizza jones strikes I won't hesitate to drive the 35 minutes north.

This place really is amazing. I've eaten at the best pizza places in New York City and in New Haven, Conn. This place could hold its own in that crowd easily. Try the plain cheese pizza. Fabulous. Don't wait to try this place. They are new and right now the wait isn't too long. But once school starts in the Fall, and word gets out, you'll have to stand in line to get in. Guaranteed.

It's new and improved! It's got a fresh look and taste that will defiantly keep me coming back for more. Of course the pizza is out of this world, but it also keeps well in the frig for lunch the next day, unlike some pizza. My favorite new addition to this place is their spinach salad. Not only is it fresh and yummy the dressing is so good. It's sweet and tangy with poppy seeds. Man I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Drove by and noticed they were FINALLY open. Yay! I haven't had good pizza in who knows how long and I was ready for some simple deliciousness. We got delivery of a large cheese pizza, breadsticks and a salad. First off, the delivery was fast, which always makes me happy. As to the pizza, I believe you can judge any pizza place by a their cheese pizza. You can cover up a multitude of pizza sins with toppings but you have nowhere to run with a simple cheese. We were not disappointed! The sauce, the amount of cheese and the crust were all perfectly balanced. The crust was crispy and chewy all at once, exactly what I wanted. The sauce was pure heaven, tomato and herby goodness. My son made the statement that he just wanted to sit there and think about the deliciousness that he had just experienced. Not eaten. Experienced. The breadsticks and salad were good but certainly not the stars of the show. Would I order from here again? Without a doubt! I would recommend it to anybody who asked and probably to anybody who didn't. Sal's is most assuredly my new pizza spot!

We got a pizza, calzone and chicken parm. The food was pretty good, service is great and the place has a clean and friendly vibe. I love that they serve sauce with their calzone, only thing is I would recommend they heat the sauce and add a little garlic and seasoning to it. Otherwise-am looking forward to going back!

We went here because our friends have been raving about it & it has some gluten free options, which matters to me because I'm allergic (granted they prepare on a shared surface, so you are definitely getting some cross-contamination, which can be a huge no-go depending on your allergy level/type...but if you're pregnant & seriously wanting something resembling real pizza, you might *ignore* this, as an example). My husband ordered a 14" Combo & was totally thrilled. We shared a large Caesar salad, sans croutons, which was delicious & the dressing was obviously house-made amazingness. I ordered a GF meatball sandwich. Everything about it was incredible. I also ordered a GF pizza to go but had one slice in-house so I could taste it fresh. I ate some left-overs today (got it yesterday), and...not only is this hands-down the best GF pizza dough I've EVER had (I got a little suspicious about it for a minute, like it was too good to be true, honestly) but it actually still tastes amazing the next day, which I've never had happen with other GF pizzas no matter how decent they were initially. I believe I've tried all of the GF pizzas available in Santa Rosa, RP, & Cotati & can definitely say this is easily the best. It was so beyond wonderful to have what tasted, not only like "real" pizza, but an exceptionally made one at that! The ingredients are fresh (they also try to source locally, I noticed, which is awesome), they don't skimp on the toppings, the prices are great, & I think I'm going to have to go heat up another slice right now! I am SO glad we found this place!

My brother brought home the combination pizza last night. It was so amazing. I was full with only two slices. Really delicious!!!! I will definitely be going back. Oh and the slices are New York style slices, gotta fold them. :-)

We recently had a family birthday dinner and catered the whole thing from Sal's--pizzas with various toppings, meatball subs and salads. We bought a ton of food and I thought there would be leftovers but we demolished pretty much everything (I think we had two slices leftover for lunch the next day). I like that ingredients are fresh and from good sources. It really makes a difference that this is a family run place and the owners care about what they are serving. The restaurant is bright and cheery too! And, let me say, I really like that they sell slices at lunch. I like being able to dash in just for a slice or two.

Excellent Napoli-style crust, great balance on toppings, good service. Talked with the owner for a bit after, great place. Only issue is I went on a hot day, and in that regard it's a typical pizza place on a hot day... even hotter. Could use more/more active fans.

The pizza was pretty freakin good! Unlike most pizzas it filled me up after a couple of slices.
