Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We went for an office lunch at the recommendation of my co worker. The food was OK. My boss ordered the taco salad which he said was great. My coworker ordered the chimichanga and that was fantastic. I ordered the combo with chimichanga, tamale and taco. Everything was great except for the tamale which was so hard it was not edible. The waitress was to busy to pay attention to refills.

My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Where else can you eat and "if you don't like you do to pay"

Was looking for a Mexican place that had decent food and a comfy booth to catch up with a friend. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very tasty and delicious meal as well as terrific service at Hacienda Tequila on Clovis ave. The place was packed and parking not easily attainable, but fortunately we had called ahead and they had a booth cleaned in minutes. The waitress "EBeth" was sweet and attentive and very pleasant and quick! Actually, everyone there moved quickly, which is seldom seen in this day and age! I ordered the shrimp fajitas and received a sizzling plate full of peppers, onions and slightly charred mushrooms with ample shrimp! It was deliciously seasoned and came with tortillas and a nice helping of beans, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo and guac with sour cream I was tempted to eat it all but saved room for some flan. That was my only slight disappointment. The serving was ample and the sweetness and flavor very good, but the texture was not. Instead of a silken custard, it had more of a texture of scrambled eggs. Overall, I was very pleased with the food, atmosphere, and waitstaff. I also met the owner, Carlos, who was friendly and welcoming! I would definitely go back and try more from their large menu. I do wish they offered an albondigas soup but I saw they had a "Mare" (seafood stew) so I'll try that next time!

I am new to the area and was craving Mexican food. After looking through Yelp, I decided to give Hacienda Tequila a try. This place is soo good! I had their "Carne Asada y mas..." It was absolutely delicious. The chicken meat that came with the chimichanga was mouth watering and cooked with the perfect amount of spice and peppers. The carne asada was tender and also perfectly seasoned. I will definitely be back here again!!

I saw the fresh paint and new sign and decided to stop and try it out. It was early, about 4:30. The owner, Carlos, greeted me and I sat outside on the patio. I ordered the chicken enchilada Suiza with green sauce. I also had their house margarita. The house margarita is made with Hornitos tequila not some cheap junk. Large and tasty! The enchiladas arrived with rice and beans. The chicken was excellent and plentiful. The sauce was subtle but very good. The beans were prefect! I spoke with Carlos and he's and very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to take my wife there now that I've scouted it out. Next time I'll try the chicken poblano! Welcome to Clovis, Carlos! We're glad you're here!

Based solely on the good revues I read here this morning, my husband and I tried this place for an early dinner. We were less than satisfied though. To start with, we were not seated when we came in, we were "waved at'' from the back of the restaurant and our menus were thrown down at booth in front when we'd motioned that we'd like a table. Our order was taken in good time, and the food arrived more quickly than we'd thought it would. It was "adequate" at best...no "zing" to it at all. The raspberry margarita was the best part of my meal. My husband's combo came with a choice of rice and beans or salad and french fries. He chose the salad, which was served on the side of his HOT meal--a cold salad should NEVER be served on a hot dish. A few times our server returned to the table to see that HE was happy with things...could she do anything more for HIM, etc. I,on the other hand, was totally ignored. This is a BIG no no in my hubby's mind. We will not be coming back; fortunately there are other options available for good Mexican food in Clovis.

Well, I'm happy to see another local restaurant in Clovis This restaurant is from Steamboat CO. Mexican? ( hint hint) You will NOT find the following soups in here: Albondigas Caldo de pollo Cocido Pozole Menudo They DO have: Chicken Tortilla 7 Seas Caldo de Camarones I ordered the Caldo de Camarones ($12.50). It was served piping hot in a large enough bowl to take some home. Included in the soup were many pealed shrimp of good size, corn kernels, peas, cubed carrot pieces, cut green beans, onion, cilantro and the broth. Now when i took my first spoonful I noticed the pungent taste of Clamato Juice....that's right...Clamato Juice. Picture this in you mind: Take a large Mexican style Shrimp Cocktail and put it in a bowl and add the above mentioned ingredients and heat it up.....that's what it tasted like. Don't get me wrong...it was very different...but OK. The salsa is pretty much blended...not chunky. It is spicy and tastes OK. The corn tortillas served with it were not home made The Chips served were not home made. They also serve a side of cold slaw type of mixture to eat with the chips...those need help with some salt. The interior is nicely decorated and they do have Mexican music playing in the background. The employees are of Hispanic decent and/or actually from Mexico. Not a "full bar" but they do serve Tequila in their Margaritas and beer.

Been here now 3 times and every time has been amazing! The portions for lunch are perfect size and the mole sauce is to die for. I even get a dish of mole sauce on the side to put on my meal if it doesn't come with it. The service is outstanding. They are always very attentive. The salsas are different than most places and they have no problem refilling your salsas.
(5)Will A.
Very good chile verde...kind of smallish burritos for the price...salsa has good flavor...chips are NOT made in-house though which is very unusual for mexican food...rice dried out and bland beans...basically got a 3rd star for the flavorful verde...service very amateurish when owners arent in
(3)Allison N.
My husband and I love this place! Great food, service and environment! They DO HAVE A FULL BAR, not just beer and wine
(5)James C.
This place is great. Fresh and authentic Mexican food. I had three asada tacos. It's hard to find a place that serves good asada. The food was so good it reminded me of my moms home cooking. Overall a pleasant experience!!!
(5)Bri S.
Just had our meals and they were delicious! I had the Burrito from the sea and although the special tangy sauce was not spicy it was very tasty. In my group we had a taco combo platter (which was almost licked clean!), chile Colorado (huge platter and mmmmm delicious), and mole con pollo (cholcolatey and flavorful). Oh! And their regular margaritas too! One - thank goodness we have a designated because after 2 margaritas some of us were very giddy! Two - the fresh tortilla chips and very yummy salsa. Three - we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated during a busy Friday night. The owner and the staff were amicable and although they were out of fried ice cream, we will most definitely be back for more.
(4)Cool C.
I'm speechless, their food tastes exactly how my boyfriends mother cooks(she's from tequila Jalisco) . You will not regret coming here , they just gained two faithful customers :) it's that good people !!!!!!!
(5)Bre P.
The food was great, the milanesa was delicious, same as the shrimp chipotle, and bacon wrapped shrimp. The plates are huve and with a lot of meat, not just rice and beans. The shrimp plates had a lot of shrimps, and the shrimp was big, not your typical tiny frozen shrimps, they served prawns....drinks where also very flavorful, and desser waz delicious, we had churros and flan. Will definately be coming back often!
(5)M S.
We really like this little restaurant. Food Is very good and the owner his family and staff are great! My favorite on the menu is the burrito from the sea but watch out because it's a big burrito filled with scallops crab and shrimp! Yummy
(5)Andrew R.
What can one say about this restaurant. We were on our way to Rosa Linda's Mexican restaurant rosalinda's happened to be closed so we drove by Hacienda tequila. there were only three cars out front and we figure 3 cars may not be a good restaurant so we kept driving my girlfriend looked up on Yelp and look at the reviews it was almost 5 stars good reviews and comments so we made our way all the way out to clovis and Herndon turned around and came back to Hacienda Tequila. The parking lot was dark and it looked a little creepy abandoned sort of, we walked inside and the decor was a cute and simple it was nice they brought us two different types of salsa and chips one was the typical salsa and the other was with cabbage thats where the 2 stars come in. I ordered the 3 combo 2 beef tacos and 1 tamale they brought my food on a huge plate that was hot. The presentation of the food was good size portion. I stared at my plate of food trying to figure out if my food was microwaved or places in an oven to heat up. My guess was the oven since the plate was very hot. The mole on the tamale didnt taste anything close to homemade but that of canned but even then i think they chose the wrong can the tamale without the mole made the tamale edible. My two ground beef tacos looked deliciouse until i took a bite and the meat did not look or taste like ground beef but looked like the meat from taco bell..it made me question my ethnicity was this a diff type of ground beef found in a part of mexico i havent been...i dont think so. I only ate one of the 2 tacos and did not ask for a doggy bag. The rice was cooked good earlier that day but was ok on the reheat. While eating my food i knew this was going to come back and haunt me later. The server was nice and attentive, polite kudos to her. I will not be coming back here. I wish them best of luck.
(2)Paul F.
Great authentic home style Mexican. Not your typical factory where the food comes out 90 seconds after you order. Excellent friendly service. All of the dishes we tried were flavorful and felt like someone really cared.
(5)BigJim G.
Amigos this is the real deal. From the time you step into the place it's like a fiesta. They immediately serve you house salsa, cabbage & chili salsa and warm chips on the house. Oh no worries run out, they will top you off with more. If you like to be a hot chili head they have just the salsa for you, just gotta ask them for a bottle. The menu has some awesome dishes but I stick to basics and usually get enchiladas and tacos. Your for won't take too long and will be amazing when you taste it. The prices are great just look at the receipt I posted in pics. THIS IS A NEW HIDDEN GEM IN CLOVIS.
(5)Iliana S.
I've been there to eat several times on different days and the tasted various dishes. Very fresh and delicious authentic Mexican dishes. Friendly environment and family oriented. I will visit again and recommend.
(5)Sara B.
We took our FIVE children to dinner last night and were really impressed. Great service and wonderful food. Try the spinach enchiladas. Yum!
(5)Tyler S.
Beautiful restaurant excellent service and for the price the food was elevated over standard Mexican affair here. I'm a fan of El Toro but they have been slipping in the service department and there menus are ratty and stained with food. (Come on guys...invest in your business) This new place has great potential I highly recommend it. Hopefully they can keep it up. Clovis has a tendency of opening great local places then the owners get lazy and stagnant.
(5)Janine A.
Hacienda Taquila has been in business under new ownership for four months. This was the first time that I've step foot into the restaurant. When you enter, you will be pleasantly surprised. The decor is authentic from Mexico. The establishment is clean. Servers friendly. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your experience is exceptional. I enjoyed the food, music and out door dinning. The prices were very reasonable. You must try this Mexican restaurant you are sure to be pleased.
(5)Margaret C.
Very pleasantly surprised for lunch. Food was tasty and seemed very fresh. Portions were a reasonable size, filling but not unpleasantly huge. Good choice!
(4)NStealth M.
If you are adventurous.. This place is great! Try something you've never heard of or have never tried before. You will not be disappointed! The managers customer service is really great as well!
(5)Matt T.
Nice atmosphere, good service, good food. Really enjoyed the cabbage salsa. Lookin to be a regular here..Decor is very well done..
(4)Jose C.
Me gusta este restaurante! Good food, owner is very friendly. Outdoor patio makes this place really cool. Reminds me of restaurants in Mexico. Should have $2 tecate and it would be perfect!
(4)Lydia K.
Salsa is not chunky but still tastes smokey with just enough heat. The marinated cabbage is better on tortilla chips than the salsa. I could eat a big bowl of just that. I have tried the chicken verdes, chipotle and poblano enchiladas and all were tasty. My son has tried the shrimp and the pulpo el mojo de ajo. Both delicious and both the shrimp and the octopus were properly cooked and not chewy or tough. Beans are boring but all refried beans in California have been to me since lard is no longer allowed. The rice was fresh and fluffy and not dry like I find in many Mexican restaurants. The only flaw was the flan. It was overcooked and was more like scrambled eggs than a smooth custard. The wait staff and the owner were friendly and helpful and very personable. I would suggest to experiment with some new flavors at Hacienda Tequila. You are in for a pleasant surprise.

Was searching for a more authentic style restaurant in Clovis. I are there last night with e and my son. It was only $20 and we had left overs!!! My son had the child's chicken quesadilla with rice and beans! It was filling and a nice size serving for a 9 year old. I had the two item dinner plate. Shredded beef taco and shredded chicken burrito with rice and beans. I have to say it was amazing and the portions are awesome. They have some cabbage salsa I've never tried before. That was amazing too! I will definitely be back!!!!!!
(4)Jeff B.
Went here on a Friday night with our kids. Great meal, friendly service. The Carne asada I had was better than most. Fairly small, simple mexican place, looking forward to using the great patio come spring.
(5)Kent R.
We thought we would try the newest Mexican restaurant in town. We left very disappointed. My wife ordered a combo with taco and an enchilada. not very impressed at all. the meat was not seasoned at all. I ordered 3 steak taco tacos. It was OK at best. Not very seasoned. I am still not sure what the re fried beans were made with. I have never seen beans quite like that. The rice was OK.
(2)Nathan K.
Living in Clovis, Ca, we've had many Mexican restaurants come and go, so finding one we really love has been difficult. After searching on Yelp for a place to eat, we chose Hacienda based up the reviews we read. We were not disappointed! Great, friendly service, delicious good, and a good atmosphere. We will definitely return!
(5)Natalie C.
Wow! This place really upped my expectation for a Mexican Restaurant! Great customer service and seriously some of the best Mexican food that I've had! Plus it was very clean. We got the Burrito of the Sea and the Camerones Aguachiles. The Burrito of the Sea is just very large and delicious. And the really surprising plate was the Camerones Aguachiles--very flavorful with the limes and just really unique! Great restaurant!
(5)Bethany H.
Combination Plates are amazing! I got a enchilada, tamale and crispy chile relleno was awesome!! The tamale was super moist which is hard to find at restaurants sometimes. I will say, the chips and salsa are not the best but maybe that's good so that you don't fill up on them before your meal comes out. They also bring some other "dip" (if you can call it that) but it's weird and not very tasty. Service is always great and I enjoy going there.
(4)Umar R.
If your looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience with superb tasting food and traditional Mexican cocktails, look no further. This place is also irresistibly decorated in such an authentic Mexican decor, but not tacky or anything, more to the classy side- vibrant colors, wood carved chairs, sombrero hats as their light, it was just aesthetically pleasing. The service was above excellence, the owner himself would serve you, and he is a friendly, fast; the dining experience feels like your at home and not to mention the price was also inexpensive for the quality and portion of food. In the end is the food that matters, and the food in my opinion was one of the best Mexican food I've tasted not just Fresno but California as a whole. The parking is easy and free, plenty of parking on the backside of the restaurant. They also do offer takeout, just give them a call, they are open 10am to 10 pm, according to the owner, but just give them a call to make sure they are open before you plan to come to avoid disappointment. So as I sat down, I was served with a complimentary salsa with a kick of heat, perfectly toasted chips and also a cabbage salsa. I started my experience with a virgin margarita $4, it was really generously portioned in a tall blue conical glass, it has got to be the best virgin margarita I've tasted so far, it has the perfect balance of sweetness, in a light ice slush, and that aromatic fresh lime juice just hits your taste buds just perfect for a hot summers day, furthermore the salted rims just made it a step further delicious and just like a normal margarita except without the booze- which is awesome if you would like to enjoy a drink during a work lunch. For lunch I ordered the Hacienda especial $13.75 which was perfectly charcoal grilled jumbo shrimp served in an excellent gastronomic green tomatillo sauce that was so addictive and had additional mini shrimp cooked with the sauce, accompanied by fresh salad and tomato infused rice, also fresh corn tortillas served on this large gorgeous circular earthenware plate. The taste of the shrimp with the green tomatillo sauce was just amazing, the 8 large jumbo shrimp was perfectly grilled and had a nice springy texture with a hint of charcoal flavor, while the sauce, had a light tart taste from the lime and green tomatoes, with an excellent blend of spice, sweetness and spiciness, it is really one of the best tomatillo sauce I've tasted. The rice was perfectly seasoned and fluffy. Salad was crisp and ultimately fresh while tortillas had a homemade taste. The service was just excellent, it was fast- food and drinks served within 5-10 minutes of ordering, the server, which happens to be the owner was personally attentive and friendly. Overall a really great Mexican restaurant that lives up to its authentic promise. Definitely a fresno gem.
(5)Mary A.
Fantastic food. We had the chili Colorado burrito and chili Colorado enchilada. So tender and flavorful. The owner was such a hard worker- short staffed but making sure everyone had drinks and waiting tables. Parking lot is too small and we had a hard time getting a spot. If you can get one, worth the wait. The bar isn't a traditional American bar- no seats so you have to get a table to get a drink.
(4)Dave L.
I have been here twice. The only place I know that has a decent ceviche. Great raw seafood and you allow acidity from the lime and lemon to cook it. Decent drinks and great authentic salsa and chips . They get really tested on Sunday lunch and brunch so try to avoid that time but otherwise this is a stellar Mexican place
(4)Matthew D.
Monday night wait time at 7:45PM (20 minutes)... a good sign. The tortilla chips and salsa are the best around. The Margaritas are hand made, again the best.
(5)Nicole N.
I had the arroz con pollo, a diet soda, and the complimentary salsas and chips. There was a sort of slaw like salsa with jalapenos that was really great. Very refreshing to have with tortilla chips. The arroz con pollo was $12 and I couldn't finish it since it was so large so yay, leftovers. Everything tasted fresh. The sauce was nice and tasty and there were plenty of vegetables. It tasted perfect with some corn tortillas. Service was fine. They were starting to wind down when I sat down at about six thirty on a Saturday. A few large parties left as I was waiting for a table for just myself. I had to wait a little for a refill but that's okay as I noticed a large bar order was ordered before me. The waiter and waitresses were kind and friendly. The place isn't very big so I think if you have a large group maybe you should call ahead. There aren't any tables (that I could see) in the dining room that only serve two; there's only booths and longer tables. There was outdoor seating I believe so perhaps there is more variety outside. Overall, nice and clean place with interesting decorating. Will go again with the husband.
(4)Margaret G.
My husband and I are always looking for a great Mexican restaurant and this one met our expectations. Great margaritas too!
(4)Hollie G.
Just tried it for the first time. Great food and service. Everyone finished their food. Chips and salsa is great. Small place but worth it if you have to wait.
(5)Jay B.
This place is situated in the old El Gallo restaurant location. I am very hesitant to try new Mexican restaurants but this is one of those times that trying something new paid off. Great food, great service and clean. I got the Super Burrito each time and it's wonderful. Try this place. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Lynette Y.
Excellent food! Awesome customer service. My husband loved the enchiladas and loved the tostada. My children got side orders of tacos and beans. My son loved his tacos. We stumbled on this place by accident. Their portions we well sized. We will be back!
(5)Regina B.
Real mexican "enchiladas suizas" and a great staff from Guadalajara. I am native from Mexico and I can assure this is real mexican food! The best Mexican food Ive tried in months!
(5)John G.
Great service and great steak! Best Mexican food I've come across in Fresno/Clovis! Get anything with steak. I got the steak burrito and couldn't finish it. The place has a nice atmosphere, too with a bar and tv.
(5)Amanda L.
Being new to this area, I've been searching for some really good Mexican food and I think I've found it. Service was exceptional, food was excellent, but prices were decent. Other than that I was very pleased. Four stars only because five goes to the best Mexican restaurant ever back in the Bay Area.
(4)Jeff L.
Wow. Just wow. I am impressed. This is NOT just another "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican joint. Oh, no. This is top-shelf all the way. After I was seated, I was served salsa and hot chips, as could be expected, but with a second, larger bowl of a shredded cabbage and cactus "salsa" that I'd never had before - different, but delicious! It was a welcome departure from the routine appetizer, and my mouth really appreciated alternating between the different flavors and textures of the salsas. The "Margarita Original" that came shortly after was maybe a little light on the orange liqueur - but was still very good. When my lunch was served, it was *beautiful* - like a photo in a culinary magazine. Bright colors, nicely arranged, not messy... I wish I had taken a photo before I dug in! The plate was piping hot and kept my food at the perfect temperature until my last bite. I ordered the Seafood Enchilada - baby shrimp and REAL crab, cooked in butter. OMG. Exquisite flavor. The enchilada sauce was not overpowering or over abundant- just right. The lettuce on the side was fresh and crisp, the sour cream nice and cold. The beans had nice flavor, not bland... And the rice was properly cooked and not over seasoned. Everything just right. Just, wow. The interior has been remodeled since this restaurant was El Gallo - it now has an open, spacious feeling with bright traditional colors and decorations... punchy and festive without being tacky or overdone. There was upbeat traditional Mexican music playing in the background - clear and easy to hear, but not loud enough to be distracting or annoying. Again, everything just right. The waitress was attentive, timely, personable and happy - couldn't ask for more! Delicious food, nice ambiance, reasonable prices, great service... Without a doubt, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant!
(5)Maureen L.
Came on a fairly busy night. Service was excellent. Very attentive and welcoming and the waitress let me sub a carne asada taco instead of a crispy taco with no problems. My combo plate was decent. But I can tell that mostly everything was precooked and microwaved though because it came out super fast like within 5 minutes. my huge plate was burning hot on one side (couldn't even touch it) and cold on another corner. Pretty sure only microwaves do that. :( My friend got the shrimp cocktail. The shrimps itself seemed fresh and were huge. But the taste was absolutely horrible. It was warm, which is odd. And extremely bland and watery. Like shrimp and avocado in a warm watery soup. Maybe you could ask for it cold? But that doesn't make up the horrible taste.
(2)Kenny G.
This place is tiny but good things come in small packages! It is really authentic in decor and with the food! The salsa isn't just smashed up tomato to look like salsa and the chips came out warm. Then I was adventurous and tried their shrimp rapped in bacon and it was one of the best unique things I have tried and really glad I did. The order of flower tortillas was good as well (not hand made but close to it). Finished it off with their flaun and it was perfect. My girlfriend thought it may have too much cinnamon but that never hurt anyone (unless your allergic). The Only reason I give it 4 stars is our waitress. She was bad.. Not the worst but bad. Forgot to ask about our drinks, took forever to get our order in... But I don't think one employ should reflect the entirety of this wonderful place!
(4)Alejandra C.
So freaken good! If you haven't been here you have to go. And the decoration is amazing. Love it!!
(5)Jenna P.
I had a combo plate with enchilada and tamale. The tamale wasn't bad, the meat inside had a good flavor but there really wasn't that much meat inside. The cheese enchilada was terrible, i took one bite and that was enough. Pretty sure they use pre shredded cheese because it had that floury grit on it and the taste of the cheese was terribly processed tasting. The cheese wasn't even melted inside the enchilada. I think the only thing i enjoyed eating were the beans.. Glad i tried this place but probably wont be returning.
(2)Nathan C.
I've eaten here twice now for lunch, and both of my experiences have been excellent. The environment is very nice and authentic, the staff is very helpful and friendly, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the Colorado Burrito.
(5)Brian R.
All the things you look for in a good Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa were great. Everybody was friendly. I ordered the dos amigos; chile verde and chili colorado. Both were really good. The beans and rice were great too. My wife had a cheese enchilada which was perfect and a taco that didn't fall apart and tasted great. All this... and in Clovis! We've tried them all and this one was by far the best.
(5)Dee M.
First time coming and probably will not come back. When I got there, we were greeted quickly and got a table. The service was very slow and it was a slow day at the restaurant, not many people. I kept looking for the waitress to let her know we were ready to order. After we ordered, the waitress never came back to check on us or to refill my drink that had been sitting there for 10 minutes. When we received our food, the waitress never refilled my drink and never checked on us. There was a family that came in after us , I am assuming they come often, they were treated with the most attention. Actually it was a family of 6 and they got their food and tab before my table even got the tab. I was pretty irritated. Food wasn't bad, but the service definitely needs an upgrade.
(2)Julianne G.
This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life in a restaurant that is supposed to be "real" Mexican. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of a jar. The enchilada sauce tasted like tomato sauce with no spice to it whatsoever. The beef taco was a taco that had a shell like it came from the grocery store and the filling was worse than what you would get at Taco Bell. My friend and I were in a hurry to go to a doctor's appointment, so we just ate as much as we could and paid. I will never go back here.
(1)Ashlie B.
This is our second time here... The service is severely lacking. The food is decent at best. I ordered a 2 item combo plate with a Chile relleno and a taco... The chile relleno isn't even a Chile relleno, it was a pepper wrapped in a tortilla, which was also flavorless. Um what? Okay... Our server kept staring he was new like it makes it OK to 1) make us ask for our menus. 2) make us ask for refills and 3) to leave empty dishes on our table. We tried talking to the manager, who was absolutely useless. Will not be coming back here. This is the absolute worst experience we've had at a Mexican food restaurant.
(1)Robin E.
2 days in a row I have come here...You know it is good!!!! Had the Hacienda Especial again and the Skirt steak and chili relleno. Perfect in every way. :-)
(5)Briana W.
best mexican anywhere near fresno. I will come here at least three times a month. the cabbage salsa and the guac are to die for. the prices are so cheap for the quality of food they produce. the only negative comment id have is that there's no only one free for drinks. service is somewhat slow I wouldn't recommend coming if you're in a hurry.
(5)Doug L.
Not very good. The cactus salsa is a novelty and not the best. The fish taco was a slab of tasteless fish. I was disappointed after seeing all of the positive reviews.
(2)April W.
Love this place come here anytime we want mexican food!! I even brought my co worker and boss here for a office lunch!!! Will definitely refer a friend and be back!!!
(5)Araceli M.
Stopped by this past weekend after a soccer game, great food, great service, so decided to go back for Cinco de Mayo with the rest of our family. We all had great food And drinks. The only flaw it had was that it was extremely busy and they didn't have very good seating arrangement or enough servers for such a busy day. But the owner lady was super great with our service and even though they were extremely busy she made up for it with her great attitude and the great food she brought out. From what she mentioned was that they opened up this restaurant a year ago and are still learning but the food is authentic and delicious. I would rather give money to a family owned business that is very good and has potential of getting better than all these chain restaurants. So please go by and try. The carne asada plate is ridiculously tasty. Chile rellenos, mole enchiladas, tostadas, burritos with verde top and even the hamburgers were all great tasty.

It took awhile to find GREAT Mexican food in my hometown since I moved to San Diego. But my brother finally came through. This place is authentic. Amazing food! Period! If you like Americanized Mexican food this place is not for you. Real old world gourmet Mexican fare. You can thank me later.

Absolutely GREAT food! Ordered enchiladas, 1 cheese & 1 ground beef with rice and beans that were wonderful. The flavor is outstanding on the beans with a bit of pizzazz. WOW! Wish I had this restaurant in Southern California. We were completing our fundraiser at this restaurant and had 10 of our group there for dinner and everything was more than we had expected. Their service is outstanding as well as their food. We will be back!

I went to this from recommendations from my friends, who absolutely loved this restaurant upon their visit, by #RigsRocks I had three chicken enchiladas in a red mole sauce with rice and beans. It arrived rather quickly and hot. The shredded chicken was in real nice chunks and mole sauce was good. I enjoyed the enchiladas as a whole and red rice was very tasty as were the beans. The whole meal came to $11.63 and left me feeling very full. Will I be back, you betcha.

Cabbage salsa is different but good! Waitress was nice, but service was slow. Not horrible, but not fast enough for me. Relleno was awesome!Top three I have had. I like that they use chile verde to cover the Relleno. Prices not too bad. $12 out the door with tip for two item combo, water only though , I dont drink much soda. Will be back.

Loved it. Went for dinner & sat on the patio. Had a jalepeño margarita. I don't even drink margaritas but I was feeling adventurous and it was delish. Had a shredded beef enchilada and a crispy chile relleno. So good, even though the relleno wasn't as spicy as I like. The service was really good. The servers are really nice, and the owner is usually there-he's really nice, really funny. Great place to go for Mexican.

This is a gem! The food is good and staffs are very nice. Weird thing is that it doesn't look like much cars are in the parking lot but once you get in the resturant they have quite some people eating in there.

This building used to house our favorite local Mexican restaurant (El Gallo) that closed years ago, so we were excited to see a new place open. They've been open since Jan 1, 2014, and the owner (Javier, I think) says they are training cooks and wait staff, staring slowly, and still waiting on a liquor license. We really enjoyed the cabbage salsa that they served with their crispy chips - my wife said it was the best thing on the table! I ordered the standard ground beef taco / chicken enchilada combo that comes with beans and rice, and the wife ordered the crispy chili relleno, which she really liked. All the food was fresh and tasty, tho nothing really jumped out as amazing. The staff was friendly. We'll be back to try other dishes. It's nice to see an independent business in Clovis. Give them a try, and let's hear what you think!

Excellent food and service. I had 3 Item combo. Pork tamale, crispy rellano, and sapita. I asked for double beans. All were very good. Wife had the Chile Verde plate and remarked how flavorful it was. Daughter had the seafood burrito plate. Nothing was left on her plate. We will be back. This was our first time here.

Felt like I was at my home away from home in Mazatlan. The cabbage salsa they serve seems to be a hit (it could have had some spice, almost tasted like my cabbage salad). Just give me ground beef tacos, they did, I was happy. The rest of the group was also with what they got. The Hornito Margarita was amazing. Only drink 1! It's hard to find Compenchaña they have it, it was ok, but...seemed like all the seafood was frozen from a bag though. My issue was service, very slow and the young girls had no personality. It took forever to get a cup of water or my drink or take our order. On a Saturday evening I suggest more than 2 young kids that really should be at home being a kid.

Great food and service! My co-workers and I have eaten here a few times and each time is better than the next. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I have been here several times and we have throughly enjoyed every meal there. First, the chips and salsa are very tasty with a very good red salsa and a nice slaw salsa. We have had their michelada's and margarita's which are both very delicious and good sized. We have tried many dishes.... Burrito of the Sea: AMAZING! The sauce they make is so yummy and the filling is very generous with seafood. Tampiquena: Pieces of steak and baby shrimp with a creamy sauce on top. Shrimp a la Diabla: Slightly spicy and has huge shrimp. Carne Asada sopes: Very good, the sopes are not bland and hold up the meat well with all the toppings. The enchiladas are also very delicious. The fried chimichanga dessert is also very very delicious! The prices are not expensive considering the portions of food you get are huge!! Customer service has always been amazing and the owner is so friendly and makes an effort to talk to everyone. An authentic hidden Mexican food gem that everyone needs to visit soon :)

Service was good even though they were very busy. The restaurant is small but has a homely atmosphere. The portions were generous and the food was fresh and tasty. I would recommend the flan at the end to round off a overall pleasant experience.

The day my husband and I got married we went here for dinner, just the two of us. It was our first time here and it was so special and intimate. We have come back a lot since we got married because it's such a great family owned restaurant. It's so cozy inside and it's never overly crowded. The service is friendly and helpful. The food is the best part!!! It is so good! Great quality ingredients and wonderful recipes. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I've been here twice and I loved it both times. The first time I had the chicken and beef fajita dinner for two. It was so much food and the fajitas were very delicious. The second time I had the deluxe nacho appetizer which was also very good. Some of my favorite in town! I also had the flan and the banana chimichanga. They were both great but I thought the banana chimichanga was better. The staff are all very nice and friendly. We talked with the owner for a little bit and he is also very friendly. The restaurant itself is very cute and the chairs are adorable. Will definitely be going back.

I came here with a friend today for lunch. Just because I yelped a place close to his work. I didn't think anything Mexican would be good around here but we gave it a try. The place wasn't busy when I got here but it did get busier shortly after. They had enough servers/helpers so the service was good. One of the guys (I think it was the owner) recommended the asada plate. I was in the mood for shrimp but thought, what the hey, this guy obviously wants to show off his best work. So we both ended up ordering the asada plate and it was really good. I have never been asked how I wanted my asada cooked as if it were a big thick peace of steak (I thought asada was universally cooked the same) but I ordered it medium anyway. It was so good! The meat was flavorful, tender and juicy! The portions were small but maybe it was because it was the lunch plate??? which was good because it left us room for dessert, especially after seeing they had fried ice cream! I thought you could only get these at sushi places, surprise, surprise! .....but it was a little disappointed because it wasn't fried. This is the only reason They lost a star for me. It was a ball of vanilla ice cream rolled on some conflays (aka Corn Flakes) on a deep fried tortilla shell thingy. It was good but when you are expecting deep fried ice cream and it's anything but, it's disappointing. So now I am back again, this time for dinner with my husband. He wasn't happy that I tried a new place without him so I will post a dinner review after ;)

Hard to imagine a better meal than I experienced here. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was fantastic. Did I mention that the place is roomy and not too loud that you actually have elbow room and a large table? Did I mention that the food was really good and unique among other Mex offerings in the area? Psssst, it was REALLY inexpensive so leave them a big tip 'cause they deserve it! Thanks for a great meal that was fresh, tasty and easy on my fat wallet! -G

First time at this restaurant. It was amazing. The whole family enjoyed their meals. Everything tasted fresh. I rarely like chili rellanos at a restaurant, but it was awesome. Their salsa was mild heat, but the taste was superb. They also had a cabbage salsa. I never had anything like it before, and it complimented the food well. Service was great. We will definitely go back.

Little hole in the wall that you will miss unless you're looking. We have drove by, but never stopped. Finally decided to give this place a try and it is great. We have now went there twice! There tacos are great. Also had a flautas which was tasty. My dad had a chile relleno which was homemade and had great flavor. Def our new go to for mexican food in Clovis!

I have been here several times now and each time has been a good experience. Meals come with free chips and salsa (try the one that looks like a cole slaw salsa-- pretty tasty). Portions are good except if you order a shrimp plate it doesn't come with very many shrimps. I got the shrimp fajitas and got 5 with A LOT of onions. (-1 star since the few shrimp experience happened with a different time and dish) The tortillas are hit or miss-- sometimes I think I get homemade ones and other times they seem like grocery store ones (-1 star) Waitstaff very nice and attentive

I have been eating here for over a year now and have never had a bad meal. The service is excellent and you feel like part of the family

The Salsa was excellent, the Carne asada was some of the best I've ever had. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I ordered a Cadillac Margarita and got a regular one the was not very good. But I will be back everytime I am in town for the food.

I just discovered this place yesterday and I'm so glad I did. Awesome food, very authentic and the staff is excellent as well. They are very friendly and attentive. I had the chicken fajitas and they were by far the best fajitas I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable too and the chips and salsa are top notch. I highly recommend this place. We ate here Monday and are already planning to return Wednesday. We were even discussing what we want to eat for our next visit. Can't say enough good things about this place, JUST GO and see for yourself. I now have a new favorite Mexican restaurant!

Been here twice, food was delicious. But both times we were there we had horrible service. The lady that was serving us had an awful attitude. We had to keep asking her daughters I think for everything. By the end of our meal we found out she was the boss. Great food :-)
