I honestly loved this place. This is the best pho place around Chino Hills. The service here is quick and fast. Depending on the time you come there might be a wait but I've been living in Chino Hills over 6 years now and the quality of food has never changed. The soup is always good, the portion are huge, and the prices are very decent compare to the Pho places out in San Gabriel. I always come here on a raining day when I want a hot soup. I've also got the catering services for one house warming once and the egg rolls were to die for. Everything here is WONDERFUL!!

If you just want a straightforward bowl of Vietnamese pho, There are 22 variations of Beef Noodle Soup which has the clear beef broth (pho) as the base. The extensive menu has over 50 types of rice and vermicelli dishes to choose from too. The spring rolls are just basic. The sauce that came with with spring rolls didn't thrill me much though. If you're feeling low and need some some TLC or need to nurse that hangover, sometimes a pho can fix that.

It was my first time here and noticed all the bad reviews after I'd been seated. I decided to try it anyway. So I walked in, was asked for how many, and then told to sit anywhere. They were a bit busy so we just sat ourselves in the corner. Within a minute there were menus and glasses of water on the table. About 5 minutes later they came by to take our order. (We were ready.) I wasn't expecting to receive my order right away because of how busy it was, but the food came out quickly. I didn't wait more than 10 mins. I will admit they have the best egg rolls out of the many dozen pho restaurants I've been to, and probably in the top 5 when it comes the pho itself. The food was great, the service wasn't as bad as its made out to be. But you can tell they just want your business, and for you to leave. But isn't that what you're there for? To eat and leave full? I'll definitely be coming back. P.S. Minus 1 star for the "B" hangin in the window... #GetItTogether #JustSayin

Customer service SUCKS!! Our young waiter who had blonde hair with black roots was paying attention more to his phone than his customers... This place has changed for the worse. (B) rating btw. Won't be coming back...

Vietnamese noodle restaurant isn't particularly well rated in their customer service part. California noodle and grill is no different. Same old male waitress with expressionless, speechless, working hard to make days ends meet. They walk away without confirming your order once they write it down and without saying a single word. They bring you food without saying word most of times. It is up to you and your party to distribute correct orders to each other most of times. This isn't anything out of ordinary for 99% of the Vietnamese Noodle place I have been to. Foods here are always hit and miss. It is lot like box of chocolates. You never know what you gonna get. For example, small noodle can be large portioned. Large can be small. Soup base is sometime watered down and sometimes salty and blend. Noodle is often over cooked. Portion of meat on barbecue meat based rice plate is so small you will have plenty of rice left over to eat with whatever sauce you want on the table. I just eat them with cucumber and tomato. Price is little strange. Small sized bowl of noodle is comparable with others but large size becomes expensive compare to other noodle place. So, I always order small hoping for large portioned noodle. If my review sounds like any other Vietnamese noodle place you've been to then don't hesitate to give them a try.

Pho taste so plain and I ordered 3 bbq grill pork and each tray came with maybe 2 table spoon of meat and paying $7-8 for each. I think that a rip offs. It is not worth the money.

This place has changed owners since the very first time I've been here. Although there were minor changes, the new management has improved a lot. I usually order all their dishes vegetarian and they are very accommodating! My comfort foods there are their vegetarian pho, mì xào dòn, and vegetarian spring rolls. I always travel in a big group here and my family orders many of their other entrées offered and always leave with their Vietnamese cravings satisfied enough until they can make their way to Santa Ana for the more authentic dishes. Overall, it's a good place for big groups and Vietnamese food for the whole family.

Wow a large bowl of pho and I need a wheel barrel to get out of here. Food had great flavor and and service was on point. This gem is to me kinda hidden away and you really have to keep your eyes out to find it but once you do...ooooooo la la.

Pho is not bad, and the price isn't either. No complaints.

I absolutely loved this place! It's roomy and the a/c works great. The food is amazing !! The staff was very friendly . We were starving and were served very fast. The pho is delicious. Fried rice and BBQ pork sandwich were so tasty . Can't wait to go back!!

  • James Y.

The food is actually good here. Service is okay-ish... They shouldn't get this good rating considering how they've failed to get an A for the cleanliness and healthiness of their restaurant and food (C ratings pretty much means "eat at your own risk"), but there's not that much good pho around here so that's why they'll survive here I think.

  • Flori A.

I used to really like this place a several years ago, until recently when their service started to go down. I think their pho is great and it's the best tasting out of the other places in chino that I've been to.

  • Mark B.

Flank steak and brisket pho was great. Humongous bowl at good price. Spring rolls are good too. One order gets you 3 rolls. Nice well decorated and clean interior and fast service. Will be back.

Swing and a miss, the best way to describe this place. They look like they could be a decent pho restaurant, but the service is such a joke it almost makes visiting here not worth your time. The servers always seem impatient, bothered, and or too lazy to deal with their customers. Anytime I've asked for a refill I find myself asking around three servers until I can finally get one. The food is inconsistent. Some days the pho tastes great and others it is just stale, bland, and overpowered with the small things such as MSG or salt. I find myself coming back here only due to its location.

Definitely my favorite pho spot in the area.. I actually never liked pho till i tried this place, now my family and i are regulars especially during this winter. My sons love #24 and u usually go with pho #4 -#7

I went there around 3 pm since I want fast quick food before I start running errand. At the time, there are only 4 tables left. I basically seat myself down.. Then waited for menu and water.. I set the menu aside after I know what I want.. If u still looking at menu mostly they don't come to u.. They are too busy restock stuff. I ordered large bowl of Pho #1 with beef on side.. Veggie come first - basil, uncooked bean sprouts, 1 slice of jalapenos and one 1/4 of lemon.. Basil leaves was kind of old I could only use like few. Pho size large is usually to be small.. Portion is getting smaller and smaller.. I don't put anything, until I break the noodles loose while the broth is still hot. Then put beefs and veggies.. Waited for few second for beef to cook.. Then taste the broth before add anything else.. I have seen many ppl just pour in the sauces (hoisin and sriracha) as the pho arrive to their table. Broth is too sweet.. too much of msg.. I just keep drinking water.. Otherwise, is okay. After I done, I have to get up and get my check and pay.. But I have to wait until someone notice that I am standing there waiting... Just guy ignore me and walk pass me.. hmm. I dont expect great service but decent.. Place is big Table set is comfortably could walk around without bumping to anyone. Good for big group Food is okay Large parking lot

I had a bad experience with their service. As soon as I walked in no workers greeted me or seated me. I had to grab their attention by waving my hand. Finally I was seated and again they did not bring any menus until I asked for it. When I was ready to order I had to wave my hand again to get one of the servers. The food was mediocre. I had number 75 (vermicilli dish). It wasn't bad or good. No server came to check to see if I was doing okay or if I wanted anything. Once again my hand was the signal for their attention. At this point I was extremely irritated. Finally paid the bill and left asap. I didn't even bother leaving tip. Horrible service!! This will be my first and last time here.

Always liked this place. Prices are on par with other Vietnamese restaurants fast service.

  • Eniluap W.

Yeah!!! They have an A rating!! Food is great. Service is not the best but now I'm comfortable coming back to eat here.

  • Bonnie I.

Came at 12pm on a Saturday and had plenty of room to sit. Service is pretty normal. Just seated at a table, given the menus and some ice water. No conversation or greetings with the waiters haha. Prices are decent. I'm just a little mad that I ordered a large bowl for an extra $2 and it looked the same as my friend's small bowl size... So that wasn't worth it.If I come again I'd just get the regular small size -_-. Service is also really fast so that's a plus. Taste wise, the soup and noodles were good. You get exactly what you want! Another okay Vietnamese pho restaurant.

  • Avery S.

Update! This place has an A now. Good for them. Service is still poor in terms of friendliness and following up. No one asks how you like the food and no one comes back to bring you more water. Pho: In terms of size, small is too small, large is too large. Wish there was a happy medium (literally).

    (3)
  • Jasmine R.

Portiion is small and over price Quality of food is cheap

  • William C.

As a Pho connoisseur, I'd have to say this is the best Pho in the area, including RH. I'd say the only one that might be better is the Pho Ha on Indian Hills. Definitely recommended.

Stopped by California Noodle & Grill on my way home from work last night because I was craving Pho. I would have to say the pho was pretty good. The broth was ok but I do like the fact that they put a lot of meat in the soup. I also ordered the spring rolls but was not that impressed. The service was ok, I had to call the waiter twice to fill up my cup with water. I also saw the rice dishes that others ordered and they were large servings but I have yet to try one there.

  • Brigette W.

YAY! I luhhv this place. I always always always order #118 (or 188? i forget) but its the rice noodles with beef. cause im not into pho noodles. omfg its sooo good--the broth, meat, noodles, errthanggg. ! AND its cheap. for a reg bowl its 5.95 and large bowls are 6.95. Service is alright. cause i understand cause it gets busy during dinner. But I can say i crave this every month. Anyways, this place has alotta room for friends or fam.

my gf and i love coming to this pho. it's one of our favorite places to eat in chino hills. whenever we don't know what to eat, pho is the place to go. it's great when we are starving, when we want something quick, when we want something fobby, when we want something light... it's just the perfect go to food. i always get either the rare steak and tripe pho or the vermacelli with charbroiled beef depending on my mood. the ol' lady gets the chicken pho. the service is pretty good too. they're nice. and quite attentive. and the place is also nice and well kept.

    (5)
  • Reese G.

When I want my pho I come to this place. The service is way quick. The waiter turns around then comes back with your food all ready (a little exaggeration)..but its fast! The inside is nice and clean... compared to the other Pho restaurants I have gone to this one is the best one so far (not the typical dirty looking asian/messy -boxes everywhere restaurants) Its cheap. I love the egg rolls (letter D and E) Im sure D is the egg roll and E is the one with the peanut sauce. I love the sauce they give you its like fish sauce or something but sweet and I pour it all over my rice. yum! They also have sandwiches like Lees which is not as bad either. :)

Good food, great price. There something about there soups that make you feel so much better when you're sick.

    (4)
  • Daniel T.

$6 / bowl and its rather small. I lowered it one star for portion size and another star for taste the che bau mau was too watery and barely had anything in it pho was just okay. It may not be fair to keep comparing to westminster but thats what I"m more used to. for chino hills, its fine.

  • Tricia E.

Just went there for a late lunch with family. What we ordered: - egg rolls - spring rolls - Vermicelli noodle with egg roll, beef, and shrimp bean curd - Pork Sandwich - Chicken Sandwich - Seafood Soup - Charbroiled beef rice dish All good except for maybe the Pork Sandwich...just okay. Otherwise, for the price, it is good, fast, no-nonsense Asian food. BTW, they have 1 moderately size tv...not that big or a lot of them, as one reviewer mentioned.

  • cy t.

We used to frequent this place whenever we craved some good pho. The fried egg rolls are tasty and the broth is good. The bean sprouts and basil are normally fresh and the food comes to your table pretty fast. But it seems like in the last year the management has changed because the staff has changed. The original staff was friendly, but now they seem to not be able to communicate well.

This is the place I go to whenever I want pho. Food is great and service usually good. Can't wait to go here again.

  • Andrew M.

California Noodle & Grill aka Pho Got to love these place that don't go by the traditional "Pho 29343" so that it's not so foreign to non-Asians.... Prices are higher than average pho restaurants but I guess that's due to the fact that it is cleaner and has a somewhat modern interior. The Good: Pho broth is pretty decent Clean Modern The Bad: Pricey (relatively)

  • Sara C.

this is one of my favorite places to eat! the place is kind of hidden to the side in the plaza. they have fantastic pho and rice dishes. i believe i've tried almost everything on their menu, pho, vermicilli, rice dishes, curry rice (avoid this dish), pan fried noodles, fried rice and even their bahn mi. the staff is extremely friendly and they've always been very accommodating to my needs especially when we ask for "extra" stuff. but don't be offended when they cant get to you right away, becuz they do get pretty busy there. price is your typical vietnamese pho restaurants. the place isn't packed for no reason, locals definitely love their pho here!

    (5)
  • Leslie D.

This place is pretty good but i still prefer to go to the one near Central Ave. However, I'll give them this. Their pho tasted very good and I took it to go which is saying something. They give you a lot of meat which is different than Pho 2007 where you definitely didn't get much. I also like their vietnamese coffee and they're nice as they let me have one on tab coz I forgot my wallet. (I use to go there all the time). It's not the best place, but it's close by. Vietnamese food is still not my fave so I only go here ever so often.

    (3)
  • Alex B.

They are back to "5 stars". The food is great and the service really improved.

    (5)
  • Marie T.

one of the few viet places in chino hills that i know of, and this is only one that i frequent the most. like most viet restaurants, this one serves you fast and service is almost non existent unless you wave your hand in the air. i'm used to that at most viet places so that doesn't quite bother me.. note to everyone: asian places you rarely get service. so just keep that in mind. every time that i've gone here, the food has always been consistently good and comes out fast. their rice dishes are pretty good as well, even though it is not the traditional broken rice, still pretty good. Prices are ok here, theyre not dirt cheap like what you find in garden grove, westminster etc. but its not ridiculously pricey like what you find in irvine. there's plenty of parking, and good for groups. things to order: pho tai - pho with rare steak pho bo vien - the meat balls w/ pho egg rolls soda chanh - lime juice w/ club soda & sugar and their rice dishes which i do not remember the name of and my viet skills fail me when it comes to writing. sorry.

  • Danny T.

Pretty good pho! I liked the portion as well. Service, on the other hand, can be improved :)

  • Will Y.

I used to drive to Pho 54 in Pomona to get a decent pho fix, but not since I found this restaurant. Their pho beef noodle soup is delicious and fresh. Pork chop with rice is also good. The garden variety of the above two already keeps me coming back over and over. The price and service is typical of a Vietnamese restaurant you will visit; really nothing to write home about. My gf recommends their hot pork sandwich. So the next time you got a crave for Viet food, give them a try.

  • Linda K.

This is one of my favorite pho places to go when I'm out here (the other is in san dimas). Another reason is that it's open later than the san dimas pho place too. Food is decently priced, takes credit cards (some pho places are cash only), have chinese food if you don't want to eat any viet food, bathroom is clean and plenty of parking since it's a huge shopping center. If you want to find the place, it's right across the street from Edwards Cinema. I think they do take out since the last time I was there, a customer asked for a to go menu and he got one so I'm assuming that they have one.

Pho in chino?? prolly best ur gonna get in this area.. but then again.. ur not to far from oc.. make the drive

  • Jonny A.

Yes! I don't know if I was just really hungry but this place really hit the spot. I went during my break on a Thursday and it wasn't busy at all. I placed my order within a couple minutes, I knew what I wanted, pho! I ordered the house special which has a little bit of everything. My sever didn't speak much English which I find to be a good sign when I'm looking for authentic food, but he did his job, nothing more, nothing less. I went to the washroom to wash my hands and by the time I got back to the table it only took perhaps 1 minute for my food to arrive. A little hot sauce, tiny splash of soy.... NOM! NOM! NOM!!! :)

    (4)
  • Grishnakov S.

Good Pho, decent priced, mediocre service. Not the best Pho I've ever had, but not too bad either.

    (3)
  • Jerald S.

Since my GF moved to the Chino Hills we had to find a place that would service to our pho cravings. This place hit the spot. Prices were reasonable and the pho was good. Broth had a good beef flavor not bland at all. I know there are other pho places I need to try, but this place is not that bad at all. Looking over the menu I saw a lot of combination's of vermacelli which was a plus to me. Definitely will be coming back to this location.

    (4)
  • Sean R.

I'm a little jaded as far as Vietnamese food goes. I work 5 minutes away from Garden Grove/Westminster/Little Saigon. Where's the broken rice? Pho is decent, but my problem is with the rices meals. I prefer more freshly cooked veges and less overly well done meats. Don't get me wrong. The food is good but I was more from of the only Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Also, I wish they would consolidate the menu and make it easier. There is a lot of repetition.

    (4)
  • Frank A.

If you are in the Chino Valley, stop by California Noodle & Grill. The food is very good, the staff is friendly and attentive. This is THE nicest looking Pho restaurant I've been to. They have a great menu and the food is quick, hot and good.

    (4)
  • Jack H.

Coming from San Jose, I have high expectation of Vietnamese food. Since there isn't any around Chino area, I decided to give this place a try. Food quality and portion is quite authentic and large so that is always good. Price is a bit higher than average but I guess since it is the only place so you pay for the location. Many dishes to choose from and the atmosphere is above average. Give it a try and see what you think of it.

    (3)
  • Eric P.

Best Pho spot in the Chino area! Food is served quickly and the prices are reasonable. Big fan of the pho, rice dishes, and the spring rolls are great! Service is so so, that is my only knock on this restaurant. It seems like the entire staff has been robbed of any emotion. They only come and wait on you if you call them over and don't ask for advice on dishes, they don't seem to care.

    (4)
  • Apes M.

This place was okay. It wasn't that busy on a Wednesday night. Ordered the charbroiled beef with vermicelli. Food was cold. I think if the food was warmer it would have been tastier. I loved the eggrolls though! Price was decent. Service was blah. Did not come to our table at all to check if we needed refills. And it took forever getting our check so my husband ended up getting up and paying. Would I be back again? Sure, only cause it's the closest pho place near us.

    (3)
  • Nat O.

We eat here all the time. I would give it 3 and a half. My husband loves Pho and he has to eat Pho at least once a week. They place is a OK. It is the closest and one of the better ones around the area. I like Bun with beef or pork with eggrolls. My daughter loves the boba drinks.

    (3)
  • Nick C.

I go to this place about once a month. Their portion is bigger than normal which I love because I'm a big eater. The pho is also served with good quality meat. Their rice meal (w grilled meat etc) is good too, and for the first time today I tried their sandwich. Awesome. In summary: Love the food. the place is nice, and restroom is clean.

    (4)
  • Shaan M.

Very good veggie pho with tofu. Spring rice paper rolls are very fresh (but not as good as some others). Overall great price and fresh tasting pho. Great veggie pho.

  • Jane S.

This place is good, they're not cheap on the quanity. Although, they're not the best vietnamese restaurant, it's good enough for a place near home.

    (4)
  • Sam P.

I usually take my pho to go. I like the service because they have it ready within 5 minutes. Pho's decent, can't complain. I tried few other Pho restaurants and some are dirty and some are rude but this is a nice place to order for a quick meal.

3.5 of 5 is more like it. It's good to know there is a nice and clean Viet restaurant in CH. I ate here with my good friend for lunch today. We were both feeling we needed something warm in the rainy weather and didn't feel like driving out so far. CN&G was the place to go. It was pretty busy when we went. The interior decor is very nice and unlike most Viet restaurants, they take credit card! :) Also there is a nice flat screen TV in the corner of the restaurant tuned into the latest sports. The Lakers were playing Cleveland. Also, the interior is very clean and modern...you will not find the cheesy neon and mirrored walls here. Because this was our first time here, we both decided to order pho. Of course we ordered the egg rolls and cafe sua da (iced coffee) to accompany our meal. She had the Pho Tai (rare steak) and I had the seafood pho. Lets start with the goods. The eggrolls were fantastic. They were nice and crispy and not greasy. The cafe sua da was good and strong. For the okay....the pho. It's not mind blasting or outstanding...it's just okay. We both had a big wad of rice noodle in our bowls. It was a tad hard and undercooked. We actually had to work on it to break it apart. The broth was just okay. It was a little on the bland side. Not as tasty but it will work. They look very appetizing. A big plus for this restaurant is that the menu is plentiful and there are a lot of selections for pho and rice dishes. Prices are okay and the parking is definitely lowered car friendly. The next trip, we're definitely going to try the rice dishes.

Tasty Pho! Packed with Asian locals as well as other ethnicities. A testament to their wide appeal.

  • Isabelle G.

Service was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Totally ignored us, never going back!

    (1)
  • Albert E.

The only thing I noticed was that the noodles in the pho were a little overcooked. It felt as if they've been sitting in the broth for too long. Other than that, I couldn't really comment on anything else because I was watching the Lakers kick the Mavs' asses on their huge plasma. One star added for that. Go Lakeshow!

    (3)
  • Kristine C.

You walk in. Sit down. They bring you your menu. They give you water. They order your food. Your food comes out fast, but its still good. All the waiters are nice. They're cheap, you go up and pay. And you leave. Its like the fast food of Asian food. Haha.

    (5)
  • Jonji P.

Nice place to eat when your craving for pho or viet food. It's probably one of the nicest/cleanest pho places I've ever been to. It's very popular among the locals and there's very few times I've gone there where it's empty. The food and service is good.

    (4)
  • Matthew M.

My favorite Vietnamese place near my home. It has a very nice decor inside and is very clean. The service is good and service is fast. They have a large screen plasma TV for viewing. The Pho and Bun are excellent.

I liked this place. I ordered the pho and thought it was good! Only been once so we'll see how it is next time...

I always get carry out and get the same thing (grilled pork, egg roll, vermicelli.) Staff seem to remember me even if I haven't been there in a while. The food tastes great and this is one of the few restaurants in the area that is worth going to.

  • Alynne C.

I went here once before and it wasn't memorable nor did it stand out in my mind. I was set at going to pho 2007 to meet my pho needs...now it's gone down hill and the portions suck so bad you'll walk away hungry...but that's a whole different story. This place was much better the second time around...we also came with a $5 off 30 or more coupon...which helps too! I had the small bowl, my sister inlaw had the small bowl, my daughter had porridge, and hubby had the large bowl. The bowls were loaded with TONS of noodles and meats...and had my fav!!! A HUGE piece of tendon...yummy!!! The meats were plentiful and the small bowl was huge and I only ate half...hubby said he wanted to explode after eating his large bowl...and my daughter didn't come close to finishing the porridge. We also shared springs rolls and they were yummy. I think when we come back here...hubby and I will just share the big bowl....it will seriously feed 2 people no problem! They also serve boba drinks and I would try it out the next time i go!

i've been to this place several times before, but my experience last night was horrendous. we arrived at 9pm and were informed that they were closing at 9:20pm (kind of random time, but whatever you say). almost immediately after sitting down they handed us our menus, and 5 minutes later they demanded us for our order. i didn't even have a chance to get situated and look at the menu.... just upset that i was being rushed, i decided not to order anything. as for the rest of those at my table, they ordered some appetizer and soups, which was brought out promptly. however, in the time that we were eating the waiter put down our check before we even asked for it, turned off the tv to the game, brought out the food and placed them in front of all the wrong people, and missed giving us one of our orders. what was most surprising of all was that as we ate, all the employees stood around the room, watched us eat, and gazed at us as if they just wanted us to go. RUDE! with that i give them 2 stars for the food and an honest 0 stars for the service.

  • Sonny N.

The pho is really good here. Staff is very friendly and the environment feels welcoming. Spring rolls are a great choice for appetizers. Only downside is the Health inspection which is a B. I will be going back!

    (5)
  • Darla G.

Decent pho place. Service was so so but, the vegetarian pho was satisfying. If you're having a pho craving and if you're in Chino, consider stopping by. Enjoy. Oh and tell me what you think about the decorations, why?

  • Neville T.

They had great service. Right when we sat down the server brought us water. The man serving us was also really kind and kept a good eye on us throughout our stay here. Many of the menu items are incredibly hard to pronounce so just say what number your dish is when ordering. We ordered two bowls of vermicelli, one with chicken and beef and one with shrimp; and also an order of egg rolls. The bowls were alright. The shrimp bowl had a good amount of shrimp and the chicken and beef bowl had a bunch of stuff in it. A complaint I have is that the shrimp bowl was basically filled with bean sprouts. I am a fan of bean sprout but I would say 60% of the bowl was bean sprout while the rest was shrimp and noodle. Also, I was moderately hungry when I walked in, and I when we left, I was still hungry. The portions of the food are rather small for my liking, but with that said I do tend to eat a lot. Overall I am not sure I will be back. There are so many other great restaurants in the area, this one flies under the radar.

We have been coming here since they opened (but under a different name). They really know how to get their pho on here. The soups are hot, some spicy, and others just right. I also enjoy their chickent and beef sandwiches (banh mi). I just wish they had traditional iced tea. There are no extras here in regards to service, basic yet effective.

First and foremost: This is a great HANGOVER CURE. My best friend always gives me a call/text the morning after a night of heavy drinking to get some PHO here. Him: "Pho ? " Me: Phooooooooooo Have been coming to this establishment since I was eight years old. Like every other PHO place, just order an Extra Large #1 and you are G Double O D GOOOOOOD. (House Noodle Soup) - You won't regret it. -Soup is usually rich My dad occasionally tries the courses with rice and meateballs and he's always been satisfied. Try the egg roll and the spring rolls. (There's a difference for you newbies out there) The boba is actually really good too. I always order the Caramel boba. My only complaint: the service has been a little crappy of late. Every time I visit (when I'm back from school) I always get the same rude/awkward waiter. He's an frail elderly man with black hair who doesn't really speak English. Every time I ask for a plate of sliced onions , he says something like "Go to supermarket and buy your onion and bring here so I cut." And then he ignores me until I ask him again. Pretty annoying if you're hungover and just want some onions..

My family and I visited this location back in early 2014. All it took was that single visit to know that this place was not for us. How did I immediately know this place wasn't for us? Because customer service is a main priority for me! The service here was absolutely horrible!!! They were very rude and definitely inattentive of their patrons. Since our normal pho place was extremely busy last night, we thought that we would give California Noodle & Grill a second chance. After all, it's been close to a year since our last visit so they must have improved by now, right? Well I don't know why I'm not shocked by this, but the service is still the same. Rude, rude, rude! I honestly don't know how this place stays in business? The food is not even that great! As we walked in to the restaurant, we immediately felt like we were putting the staff out of their way. You could see a disappointed look on their faces as you walk through that door. Maybe I should have asked if there was anything I could do for them to make them feel comfortable??? Anyway, we were seated and given menus. Not even a simple hi, hello, welcome...NADA! I would have settled for a simple "What's up" head gesture! These people act like they don't want you there period and don't appreciate our business! I wanted to walk out prior to ordering and go to another restaurant, but my husband said it was late, plus our two teenage boys were hungry and he suggested that we just ride it out. Long story short, after they brought our food out, not once did they return to see how we were doing or refill our water glasses. I honestly don't think they wash all of the dishes. The eggroll dish appeared to be unclean! I didn't want to make a scene and just wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. They did not even bring the check to our table. We just got up and walked to the front register to pay and hit the road. I even heard the table behind us commenting on the service and clearly expressing their own disappointment with the staff. Needless to say, we will NEVER return to this restaurant again and I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Been coming here for a few years now and I've never had bad service or anything bad on the menu. Pho meat is a good cut, bun thit nuong chi Gia is a must try, broth could be a little better but still delicious! The place is always filled with customers so thats gotta say something! Good place to try Vietnamese food in chino hills!

I came here with my mom for lunch because I work near by and we decided to just grab a bite to eat. My mom ordered the chicken pho and I ordered the #1. The place is fine, but the employees are slow at their service. All of them just love to hang around the back and not even care to give a refill of water. Their pho was just ok. I didn't find anything special about it and they used beef brooth for the chicken pho. (my mom doesn't eat beef.) The sizes of the pho was kinda small and I've been to others places where the bowl was bigger and the price was about the same. I thought everything was ok, until 10 minutes later, I was THIRSTY as hell. Can you say MSG?

FOUND A LADY BUG IN THE PHO!!! Half way into our meal my brother saw something strange in his bowl. We picked it out and then saw that it was a lady bug! We called one of the waiters over and showed it to him and all he said was sorry and walked away. May I add that he didn't even bother taking the pho with the lady bug away. From a distance we could see him behind the register laughing and joking around with the other workers. My family and I would've appreciated it if he had taken this matter seriously because well, there's a bug in our food. After a while he comes back with our check again apologizing and took that one bowl off the bill. That was appreciated but I will definitely will not be coming back after that gross incident.

What kind of place interrogates their clientele????? My youngest brother went in with his nerdy lil friend, and was asked questions like, "will you be able to pay for your food?" ARE YOI KIDDING ME??? Not only has this place been a family sit down restaurant for my folks and I, but we've recommended it to people thus giving them more business. Well that was a mistake bc I am just appalled. My little brother doesn't dress like a thug, he's not a hooligan. He combs his hair, and wears button up tshirts. Just bc he came in with a friend and no parents doesn't mean he doesn't have morals. If anything, they should've realized this kid is from a wealthy family and they might be able to influence them to purchase more than what they came in for. Like, DUHH... Whatever. Anyways, my bro told me he asked multiple times for a glass of water and they NEVER came back to refill his cup. Oh my god that pissed me off. Asking an establishment for water is like a RIGHT we as Americans have no matter what age. I've seen these things happen in movies, but I didn't think it would be a reallife thing here in Southern California nonetheless to my own BLOOD.

Haven't eaten at this place in a long time. I like the banh mi, shrimp paste cake (letter A on the menu), pho. The servers are friendly now. You still come out smelling like soup stock. But hey, not just soup stock, special soup stock! Really like it here.

I am a fan of Pho, specially when feeling a bit under the weather or when it's cold outside. I have been to this location about 3-4 times in the past month and a half. For the first time, everything was great! The second time I came here, they weren't so busy for lunch time but it seems as if it took forever to get our orders taken and not only that but they forgot my drink. As for the last time I have been here (2 weeks ago), the wait to get my order taken was extremely long (wasn't even busy), the food came in like 20 mins later, the pho was good but I feel like they hardly gave me any meat. I had ordered a #4 pho bowl and it had about 3-4 pieces of meat (supposed to have more than that). After being ripped off with the meat I had decided to change Pho places. I just can't justify ordering a pho bowl that includes more than 4 types of meat and only getting 3-4 pieces of meat and missing what I ordered.

I came here with my family on a sunday afternoon. Ive been here many times before and noticed they finally got an A on their health inspection. .. which is a good thing. I also noticed they had new menu covers and spoons. Food: great as always, but I would like the side bean sprouts, basil and lime to be a little fresher. Service: ok... I guess. Nothing outstanding.

The server was rude impatient , ignoring and look like he doesn't wanna do nothing !!! The soup is tasteless , the noodle was stick together inside the bowl and taste bad . I will not recommend anyone this place . The egg roll was dry and only comes with two piece of lettuce. Compare to pho amor this is a hell pho place .

Its been a while since i been here cuz last time it was bad compared to saigon noodle in diamond bar. We ordered the usual suspects pho, soda, coconut ice drink with beans. Pho noodles were ok, not really chewy or good, the soup tastes pretty good so that is a plus. They seemed pretty thin to be honest. Sodas in cans, ok plus side it tastes fresher but fountain is almost standard with all the siracha u put in the pho,so that is negative. The very bad part was the coconut drink. The beans are waaay overcooked kidney beans. Tastes very mushy. On the description it saids mung, they are not the same thing lol. Cheapos using substitute ingredients. Gonna be a while before we come back and try again

I almost always order #53. Roasted chicken with rice. The chicken has a distinct taste and if they char it up a lil but more it's almost delightfully crispy. The sauce that it comes with adds to the flavor in case the white meat part gets a lil dry which it doesn't too often. Give it a try if you're a chicken person. Wish the chicken is a lil bigger though but then again I eat a lot for a lil guy.

I was here a few years ago for the last time, the service was so bad I stiffed the waiter, yup. I have never stiffed anybody in my Life before, I had to do it here, it's that bad...... My waiter was either on high on drugs, or was mentally retarded, it was the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant.. and that time I told my wife this place will not see a penny from me again for as long as I live. I love pho, and I live 5 minutes away from this horrible pho place. In stead every weekend we drove 20 miles from chino hills to Fullerton and gale to enjoy our favorite pho restaurant, pho ha.

It was alright. Nothing too special. I ordered a Pho, but what can I say, it's just pho. The restaurant is large and open. When we when there it was very busy and the service was not as good as it could be however I find that typical at Pho restaurants. All in all, there was nothing special that would make me want to go back.

Surprisingly, this place opted out of the traditional "Pho *insert pun*" routine when picking its name. I wasn't expecting pho, but it's always nice to have a pho place around. That being said, I was thoroughly dissapointed with the pho here. They give way too much noodles! Normally, you'd think more is always better, but I've never eaten a bowl of pho with so much noodles before, and this is coming from a guy with a pretty big appetite. No kidding, I usually have to order extra noodles at most places, but the stock bowl here was way too much for me. The plethora of noodles kinda took away from the overall pho. You couldn't really enjoy the soup and meat because of its bad proportions. I barely finished half of the noodles and I was already sick of it. Also, the service here completely blows. They have a good amount of staff on hand, but the problem is that none of them (including the owner/manager) seem to have had any hospitality or customer service training at all. Even if the place is close to empty, you still have to flag someone down just to order your food, get water, get the check, etc. It's pretty ridiculous seeing 3-4 employees just standing around the same cash register trying to seem busy when you're one of only 2 other groups of customers inside. I woulda gave this place 2 stars, but I gave it another chance and ordered a rice dish this time (and my friend ordered Vietnamese cold noodle). Surprisingly, both of those dishes were actually really good.

Great service, great food, cheap prices. This place is always packed..even during lunch on weekdays! Even my BF who doesn't really like Vietnamese food really likes their Pho. I've been trying different things on their menu and really like their Vermicelli bowls. It comes with your choice of meat toppings with assorted veggies like cucumbers, carrots, and bean sprouts. You pour the fish sauce all over, mix, and eat. Soooo refreshing on a hot day.

The pho comes in small bowls, when you come in, no one greets you, just stares blankly and shoos you to a table. The waiter brought us waters and didn't even say hi or anything just put them down and left. Then a nice waiter came up and took our order he recommended something good for my son, but didn't bring me my Thai tea until I had to remind him and it was already almost done! Food is ok but still crap service...they all just stood around eating and jabbering!

This review is solely on the customer service since I didn't get a chance to order. My wife and I entered the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Half of the tables were full and the other half were with plates from previous customers. After standing for 5 minutes a cashier from the back told us to sit down next to a family. We waited for 10 minutes without the employees giving us water or a menu. My wife decided to get us our own menus which were next to the cashier. We saw a bunch of bus boys or waiters walking passed us without acknowledging us. 5 minutes passed and still no service, therefore we got up and left. I'll never know if the pho is good since I will never return to this restaurant. If I wanted to get garbage service from a restaurant I would have gone to Rosemead, not Chino Hills.

so, I went to this place not really knowing exactly how the food was going to be and when i went there, it was quite different from other restaurants like this one but. the food is absolutely EXCELLENT. I love it here, it's really amazing. There pho was delicious, i recommend a #7 and then a milk tea boba. yup, this place will never get old.

I have learned to love this place, I always order to-go (#16 small noodle, which is the pho with rare steak) Its fresh and light! If you have never had pho before I would recommend this place. Fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime, cilantro, onions and jalepenos with a dash of siracha and hoison sauce, how can you go wrong? The service could be a little bit friendlier but they are never rude and always are prompt to take your order.

We have been going this place for several years, always enjoy the food, either dine in or carry out. The food is delicious, the price is reasonable, the ambiance is ok. By the way, they serve fast. So far this is my number one choice for pho.

I have been here a few times, the food is good. Yesterday was just ridiculous! The customer service SUCKS! I am Hispanic and it was more than obvious that the Asian customers had preferential treatment. So disappointed & won't be going there anytime soon.

We had the Seafood Pho (#22D) which was great but the real highlight of the meal was the Chicken Fried Rice (#128). Add a side of noodles for $1.25 and the small size soup becomes a perfect meal to go! We WILL be back in the future - with friends.

I like this Vietnamese restaurant than any others in Chino Hills. Mostly because it's bigger, cleaner, and more modernly decorated than others. Plus its right next to a bakery! The soup base for pho is flavorful and not too salty. Having said that, any type of pho you order will be satisfying. You can't go wrong with any of the vermicelli dishes since all it requires are fresh ingredients and your only sauce is fish sauce. The Bo Luc Lac (Vietnamese shaking beef) rich dish is MOUTH WATERING! Bite sized pieces of marinated beef are so juicy and tender..served with sauteed onions, fresh slices of tomato, watercress on a bed of rice. It smells absolutely amazing!!! Sit anywhere you like and remember, like any other Vietnamese restaurant, please pay at the counter.

My family and I regularly come to this pho restaurant! It is my favorite in Chino Hills. I usually get pho soup with brisket, flank, and rare steak! The rare steak is my favorite but I like the diversity of meat in my soup! I always order spring rolls and thai tea with my meal. My mom usually orders the charbroiled beef rice plate! It's delicious! The shrimp paste is addicting! My sister and my dad usually get the house special soup with everything in it! Those are their go-to's whenever we come here! The service may be a bit slow but the workers are always friendly and accomodating! I chose this pho restaurant over the others in Chino Hills because they have a huge selection on their menu, allow substitutions and changes to the dish, and their food is excellent!

This is my spot when I want Pho in Chino/Chino Hills. I have had several of the variations but my favorite two are the Rare Steak and Flank or the Vegetarian... Portions to cost is also a plus. A typical night there includes one large pho, one small pho, an order of egg rolls add a tip and your all in at 20 bucks. For the most part they do all speak english and the service is pretty quick. I'm just a little bummed out that its 90 degrees outside today or i'd go now!

This is my favorite pho place in the area. The staff was friendly to me on most occasions and made sure my water was filled, but when it gets busy they sometime forget that you are even there! The pho is pretty good. I always get the same pho every single time but the broth taste a bit different on each visit. It's not consistent but it still taste pretty good! Eggrolls are delicious but I don't like the fact that the lettuce it comes with gets gross from the oil. Overall this place is awesome for a quick filling meal. The food comes out fast, gobble gobble, go up to the register to pay, and be on your way. I will be back soon~

This place has one of the better tasting pho broths in the area. But I had no idea my regular bowl would be so tiny so if I ever come back here again, I would have to order a large. It wouldn't hurt if the waiters told the customers (especially the men) how pathetically tiny their regular bowl is when taking orders. Luckily I had eggrolls to get myself somewhat full with.

I used to love coming here. Been coming here since 2011 and the food was good and service was great. I actually spent over $1,000.00 here.... My my, has time changed this place. I came in last week, and it took about 20 minutes to get seated, which would have been ok, but there were like a dozen tables open and not being used. From there it took another 30 minutes to get an order in another 15 minutes to get the food. To top it all off, I had to wait in a freakin line to pay since my waiter was to lazy to bring me my bill. Im sure glad it wasnt super busy when I came in.... I wish the owner would come back, Im sure this crap wouldnt happen. My suggestion ... Prepare to wait........

After a terrible experience of another Vietnamese restaurant in the Chino Valley, I was a bit ambivalent yet hopeful upon entering California Noodle and Grill. Pros: * Friendly welcome by staff * Quick service (in ordering and bringing out my order) * Extensive menu (and the actual menu is clean, not grimy or nasty to hold) with a good variety of photos for customers not familiar with Vietnamese pho fare * Diverse crowd-- young Asian tweens, white business men, Vietnamese families, and a diverse group of 20somethings * Good portion size ($6-7 for a bowl of bun) * I ordered charbroiled chicken and egg roll bun. Good ratio between meat, egg roll, veggies, and vermicelli noodles. Cons: * I ordered charbroiled chicken and egg roll bun. The chicken had a funky flavor (like it was chilling and mingling with the beef) but manageable. The fish sauce was very mild, kinda bland. In the larger universe of Vietnamese food, it's about average. In terms of the Chino Valley, it's pretty good (way better than most). So, if you're stuck in the Chino Valley and have a hankering for Vietnamese food, this place is solid in quality and service.

I've been here a few times and the service is always fast and good. The only complaint would be that I sometimes feel rushed to order but if I tell the waiters I'm not ready they usually will back off. There's a pretty extensive menu and I always find it a good sign when there are Vietnamese people eating at a Vietnamese restaurant. I don't know if that last line made sense haha. The food is tasty and the place is pretty clean as well.

This place was able to accommodate for our party of 19, which is always a plus! The food was pretty good and the ambiance is nice, so what's not to like about the place? My family ordered a whole bunch of different items on the menu and everybody seemed to be pretty happy about what they got.

  • Angela W.

This is you grab and go or quick meal place. The soup or pho isn't anything special. You kinda wander in and find your own seat. The food comes out fast but the noodles you can tell are pre-cooked since they stick to each other and it takes forever to break it up.

    (3)
  • Taudry A.

I have eaten pho here since they opened. I used to be a HUGE fan, but now the pho is kinda nasty. My boyfriend and I got 2 large to go orders and the broth was bland, the flank was extremely fatty, and the egg rolls tasted fishy. I am on a hunt for a new place. California Noodle & Grill is now on my "icky" list!

Love this place... Usually. I have been here several times and I am use to the bad service, I even looked past the C grade on the door. Today was a different kind of horror. Walking in we would most of the time seat ourselves, but seeing that there where no clean tables we had to wait, someone finally cleaned HALF a table for us, the other half was cleaned while we where already eating. It was ridiculous they where dumping the dirty dishes in the bins up against the table while we where eating, and wiping the table down with the food flying on me. Done!

not the best pho ever. i repeat not the best pho ever... but it is the best pho in chino hills/chino. real authentic vietnamese owners. com tam #69 (broken rice dish) is pretty good and you dont have to do the drive to westminster. the only other vietnamese option you have in chino hills is lees sandwiches.

Idiots. All of them. Bad service, long waits, don't offer water or refills. Can't multitask. And to top it off - They give our credit card to some stranger and they took off. Good job, idiots!!! And there's a picture on the front of the card! Are they really that dumb?! Apparently. Never coming back.

Decent food at a great price. Service fast, not much follow up once you get your food. They are busy and always in a rush to take your order. I would say your just there to eat.. not much else.

  • Tina L.

I always get the Pho with rare steak and tendon or rare steak and tripe. Consistent noodle texture, but the temperature of their broth changes quite frequently. Sometimes, I'd get piping hot soup and sometimes I would not. They give you a lot of rare steak and reasonable amounts of everything else. Fast service and the employees here all speak English, which is very nice. I've had slow, horrible service here before, but I don't blame them because they are pretty busy. Regardless, it's still my favorite place to get Pho around the area and their prices are very reasonable! I will be coming here a lot!

This review is based on service alone. Yes it's fast and no BS BUT I felt rushed. No common courtesy at all, no smile, nothing. I felt like they just want to get my order and move on. I don't think they would even read this review. This place sucks.

This use to be my pho spot when I'm home in CH but I don't think I'll be coming back. First off, when the heck did they get a C?! YUCK. Too bad I had already made a phone order. Their soup is now waay too salty(I added a whole cup of water and still salty) which I can live with but the last straw was when I ordered a vietnamese coffee and the top quarter of the cup was EMPTY, so I asked the guy why it wasn't filled to the top and he just shrugged. Look, I don't like paying 3 bucks to get literally 5 sips of coffee(it was allllll ice)...you've just lost a customer.

They seem to love to screw your orders and love to ignore your calls. You need to watch out from there scam artists. They'll sell you something, but you come home with setting else. No refund, because they can't remember. They're too stupid to care.

Pho is awesome for these two reasons.. one, if you're sick and two, if you're hungover. Well... I've been sick lately so pho was my go-to first pick. California Noodle is pretty standard. I almost always get the regular rare steak and brisket bowl. If you like getting your meat on the side, squeezed with some lime or lemon and tossed into the steamy broth to cook.. then you now know just how I like it *insert hi-five* Without me adding the usual oyster sauce and sriracha, I would say that the broth is fairly decent. Compared to other pho restaurants, I've tasted better broth but this was something I could easily work with. When I'm craving more than just pho, I'd sometimes get the spring rolls because of their fresh taste and peanut sauce. Believe me, you won't get that bland, rubbery crap some places serve. All in all, it's the perfect lunch or dinner meal just under $10! Note: Don't forget to tip them! I totally forgot to do that today and felt reeeeally bad.. so sorry Mr. Waiter who took care of us for 3 hours. Your service was greatly appreciated.. expect extra tip next time!

Typical Pho restaurant, with typical Vietnamese selections. Decent decor with standard pricing. Don't expect fantastic customer service but take comfort in the fact that your food arrives in a mere couple of minutes. Two thumbs up to this place.

It's nothing spectacular. Portions are small compared to other pho joints. My hubby's large pho seemed smaller than other places' regulars. But there aren't many options in Chino Hills, so I'll probably be back. Just your average pho joint...

  • Christine W.

This place is pretty big and spacious, and...clean. I wanna say that it's pretty Americanized. The pho itself was pretty good. I actually really liked the broth, and there's a good amount of meat in the soup. Service is pretty good, considering we always kept calling them back for something or other. :3 However, rice dishes are pretty scant on meat and you could still be hungry after. Portions for pho are also pretty small. A large is about the size of a normal bowl of pho at regular pho place. I tried the egg soda drink with condensed milk after a suggestion from a friend awhile back to try this particular drink, and after some apprehension, I found out that it is sooooo good.

I used to come here on weekends with my parents because it was close to home. When it first opened this place was great and it was still great a couple months ago. I came here last week and boy was I in for a shock. My review doesn't really encompass the pho itself because I usually get the broken rice dishes. I usually get the charbroiled beef, shrimp paste, shredded pork, and baked egg dish. So feeling like everything would be normal I get the usual and since I was hungrier than usual I also got order of eggrolls to share. The egg rolls come out and its on like 2 pieces of the veggie leaf (dont know what veggie but leaning towards lettuce). Usually they give you a plate of just lettuce for you to wrap and go to town with. I figured what the heck its fine don't really need it at the moment. I then look at the fish sauce and wonder why it is so empty. It is missing the carrots and daikon radish pieces! What in the worlds? This is the first time I have ever seen that. The fish sauce also tasted very bland, not sure if they just changed the usual sauce they used or whatnot. At this time my mom's #1 comes out and she decides to wait for our rice. Makes sense that the pho would come out first so we just eat egg rolls in the meantime. After 10 minutes we wonder what in the world is going on. So we ask the server and he said it is coming out soon. 5 more minutes go by and my dad and I get our broken rice dishes. Figured it took longer because of the beef so I get some right away to eat. The beef was cold, like it had been sitting there for 10-15 minutes. So I had no idea why it took so long. The portions have gotten smaller and the rice portion seems to have gotten bigger. Also the rice looked like normal rice to me not very broken rice style. The flavor was kind of still there but very muted. The baked egg was the same but because fish sauce was different it didn't shine like it usually does. The shredded pork seemed a little tough, but no difference. The shrimp paste was normal. Overall this place used to be a staple visit every 2-3 weeks when I come home, but now I don't think we will give it another try for a while. They still get plenty of business so I doubt they will hit any troubles, but I do hope they fix it and turn it around. Not sure if they just switched owners or I went on a day when the main cook(s) weren't there, I don't know. I really don't want to drive from Chino to Diamond Bar just to eat pho though.

I'm not much of a pho eater, but this is one of the better pho places I've been to. The soup is flavorful, and doesn't taste too heavy or full of msg (I hope). I usually get the beef flanks and none of the weird stomach things haha. The egg rolls and spring rolls are both pretty good. The egg rolls come out hot and crispy so you know it's fresh. Prices are cheap too. Since it's one of the few pho places in the area, it can get pretty packed, but I've never had to wait.

Decent food but service was lacking. Very busy during lunch hours so alot of tables were left uncleaned. Staff were really nice and friendly, even though we had difficulties communicating and they served our food to our next door table. I like the Pho Thai and egg rolls...well how can you ever go wrong with those choices, right?

Giving this place a 3 because food is good. However, their service isn't really good. We ordered 3 meals mine, the bf's and my son's. Mine came in after 10mins my bf's order came in after maybe 20 mins. My son's never came in. Next a guy came by to give us food. Well looks like they screwed up on my bf's order. It wasn't the right food he ordered. My bf ate half of it already. My son's food never came at all. We had to bring him across to McDonald's for his lunch. This place has been round for a while, why haven't they known that on weekends it will get busy based on their experiences. They were very short handed that day. I could see other people getting pissed off due to no one took their order yet. People standing waiting to be seated and tables not cleaned fast enough so people could sir. Now they need to hire more people if they do not want to loose their business and make sure to serve what people ordered and get those orders in and served. Specially of its for kids. Sorry to say I'm never coming back here again due to what I went through.

When in Chino, this is my pho spot....until I find a better one because I'm so fickle. lol. I prefer California Noodle and Grill to the place across the street because the meat here is better to me. As far a a long wait time, I haven't experienced that maybe because I always come for a late lunch when I do show up. I didn't like the egg rolls too much but the pho is good enough for me.

Many pho restaurants all seem very similar. They just vary slightly on selection, quality, service, set-up, and cleanliness. I have yet to find one that will be my go to place for an egg roll, soup, or rice dish craving. This one in particular satisfies that craving if I am in the area. The egg rolls a yummy but are always piping hot. So give it a few seconds or minutes because I know that I unfortunate burnt tongue feeling all to well. You order by numbers here so your order won't get lost in translation. You pay Denny's style. They give your your check and then you go to the cash register. If your in a rush, you can go the the cash register and tell them the number on your table. This place can get crowded during the lunch rush whether if it is the weekend or weekday. If you are only a party of two or three and just so happen to be sitting in a table for eight, then don't be surprised if there are other people seated on the other end.

Feeling sick? Temperature under 60 degrees outside? Screw the hot chocolate at home...go to California Noodle and Grill! Best Noodle house of all time..well in my opinion. It is really close to where i live and i enjoy coming here for some "FHA"! The place is really nice, big and tall. I really like how they have a wide screen tv, u can watch Lakers cz usually they have sports on. I wish that they had another tv on the other side, so i wont have to take the time to keep turning my body towards the tv. but anyways..i came here to review on PHO, not the tv.. lol It seems to me..i always go on a sunday. not every sundays but usually on a sunday. After mass seems sooo perfect for some noodle. Their House special #1 is really good, but i like my noodles, an egg noodled type. I really love their #112. I like their some sort of curled/cut tripe and their meat inside the soup. well theres really nothing else to say..but i give this place thumbs up..i mean two chopsticks up (:

Better to eat here than drive to garden grove. When you are craving Pho and don't want to drive to Garden Grove then this is the pretty decent place to go. Staff are quick, sometimes a bit too quick. When I crave Pho, this is the nearest & quickest place to go to. I've tried Pho by 99 ranch in Chino hills, it's OK but seem a bit dirty...that's another review though at a different location.

I come here all the time to get my pho. I honestly think all pho tastes the same.. its GOOD but I mean it really does taste the same to me wherever I get it. Maybe the broth is different from place to place? This place's broth is decent. I've never had it watered down, but it's nothing extraordinary either. The servers are nice, the food is cheap, and the pho is good. What sucks is the spring rolls... I could have sworn they were better before. I don't know if they think they could pull a fast one on me, but wtf. They shrunk... so much. There's like nothing in them except noodles and wilted vegetables. Lame as hell. Oh well, I'll keep coming back because I honestly don't know of any other pho places nearby, lol. Hopefully they don't recognize me.. Chino Hills needs to get better pho options!!! pleaseeeee!

When they get busy, service and quality go downhill. I left without paying. Didn't really touch my food but did let staff know why I was upset. Soup was cold and not served as requested. Took forever to order and when I told server order was prepared wrong.. She apologized then walked away. Didn't even offer to fix issue. I may not be returning for awhile.

Had a large combination Pho and fairly impressed. Ive been here on numerous occasions and the service can be hit or miss. They do get busy at times, but do their best to get you in and out. Wished they put a little bit more meat in their PHo....

This place does the job as far as pho cravings go. It's one of the few pho restaurants in the Chino area, so we come here often. The pho tai is good. The meat in the rice dishes are heavily marinated and a little on the sweet side. I like the vermicelli here! Egg rolls are pretty good. Iced coffee here is great! I also tried the honeydew smoothie, which was surprisingly delicious! Pretty clean for a pho restaurant.

Nice place, not too noisy, and service is pretty good too. However some workers dont seem very happy when they serve people. It doesnt give a very good atmosphere to the customers.... Food is alright. Comes out fast like any other pho place. Price for the food is alright too. But honestly it tastes similar to a lot of other pho restaurants that i've been too. Good but not amazing.

Seriously the best broth in the area. I am a huge fan of PHO and continue to come back to this Vietnamese restaurant for it! They are boasting a Grade A now from the health dept. so no need to fear this place! yummers!

Food was great, pho has really good flavor , but man service sucks here ! Pretty consistent with that as well. I have been here many times and ill usually get it to go because it looks like I'm painfully irritating the waiters when I ask them for something. My tip will reflect that as well. Social media affect on your pocket.

I like this place because the food is good and prices are reasonable. The service is a problem, kinda confusing whether you are supposed to seat yourselves or wait to be seated. Language is also a problem even if you just order by number, some items have the same number distinguished by 'a' 'b' and they will get them wrong. Grrr! Otherwise good place for some delicious pho.

Been patronizing this restaurant for a few years. Food is great but recently we have had a couple incidents when ordering to go. This happened the last 2 months that we ordered to go. The first time, my wife ordered about 6 items to go and 2 of the com tams that are supposed to have the shrimp paste are not included. Then yesterday, I ordered 2 com tams. One supposed to have the baked egg was not included and the second one supposed to have the egg roll was also not included. Seems like the chef is being 'naughty' here. Never had this issue when dining in. So "To go buyers" please check your order before leaving the restaurant as they are being sneaky here. Don't get me wrong here, food is great here which is why we frequent this place but if your to go order is being cheated like this, it makes you mad!! Please stop doing this California Noodle & Grill!! or else you will loose your loyal customers...

For lunchtime on Friday, the service is very decent, not sure what the complaints are about. I ordered bun cha gio thit nuong, and the cha gio was delicious but the thit nuong was so oily and greasy I felt heavy before I even finished the bowl. My dad ordered the pho tai nam which he said was pretty decent, so next time I'd order pho tai and cha gio. This place is good, but I wouldn't say stellar based on my personal experience. Average prices, a great place for a quick meal!

Came here on a rainy Sunday and it was packed. Despite how busy the place is our food came out super fast, literally 5 minutes after ordering. However they forgot our extras for our soup so we had to flag someone down. I don't think most of the workers speak English so the kind of ignore you and i had to go back up to the cashier and then again we got our sides in less than a minute. The pho was great and perfect for a rainy day. The spring rolls are just ok. Overall, it was great and I will be back.

A place I looked up to go to eat Pho in the area.. They seemed like they needed more people working there. I ended up just going to sit at an open table because no one gave me any directions. The lady mixed up my order and ended up sending it to another table, thankfully the guests were nice and asked me if it was for my table. Tips I'm assuming that you have to just pay the bill at the cashier instead of sitting and waiting for someone to get the bill for you. My Experience I ordered Pho Tai, a Pork Rice Dish and Egg Rolls. I can say the Beef Broth and egg rolls are pretty good. My overall experience was ok, I would just say hire another staff or something.

I've come here before a couple of times and the initial impression came off as very homey and nice. Decor is fancy and trendy, making it very comfortable to the younger crowd - compounded with a usually buzzy atmosphere, there is a sense of privacy between your group so that no one have to act abnormally quiet among the other diners sitting around you. Food wise, I've only tried the special pho so far and it is excellent! broth is up to par and there is plenty enough in a regular sized bowl to fill you up with what you would want from a nice hot bowl of beef noodle soup. What made me give this restaurant a 3 star is the inconsistency in service that I received. On a lunch run at around 12:30 pm, we came through the front door with absolutely no one to greet us, so my girlfriend and I sat ourselves at a table and received our menu without any explanation or apologies. I know that would seem very harsh but something as simple as having a person at the door should not be substandard! What made it a tad more irritating is the fact that we saw a worker having his pho break during a busy lunch service. Moving on, no one knew that we had already finished deciding what to get so I had to call over a waiter in order to make sure that it wouldn't take another 10 minutes. Besides those facts and the failure of the waiter to get us the right drink (requested ice water and water with no ice, but got 2 iced ), the restaurant has excellent food but was marred by what I would hope as only a fluke in front of house service.

Tried the mi and hu tieh kho. Mi was good, could have been more oily the way i like but wasnt bad.The hu tieu though was weird. I didnt like it. It was different than the usual hu tieu i have. The noodles were stuck together and it came with some kind of crab patty stuff. That was good but I was expecting the dish to be alot differnt with beef seafood and what not. so yea that is definitely a pass, dont order that. other than that the place is still a decent vietnamese spot to eat. edit: nvm i just ordered the wrong dish lmao

I come here to eat for lunch about three times a week. I can't help it, I'm addicted to their chicken fried rice and marinated beef. This place is very good. I've never tasted rice so fresh and so perfectly cooked, and the beef to amazing - packed with flavor and you don't have to chew through fat or anything. The service here is good I would say, but don't do any phone orders, you seriously have no idea what they're saying over the phone.

If you are trying to avoid meat and you order the vegetable noodle soup, BE WARNED-they serve it in a beef broth, unless you specify vegetable broth. How weird (nice word) is that?

Good food, prices are standard. Had the bbq pork chop with rice and shredded pork, pho, and other assorted items over several visits. For Chino, this is pretty decent Viet food. For Pho restaurants, I always gauge the quality by their Pho Dac Biet Xe Lua, which is basically just the extra large house pho. If they don't have that on the menu, I'm either walking out or not coming back. The restaurant itself: super Asian looking but clean. Tables come with the typical plastic chopstick holster, assortment of chili sauce, Sriracha, Hoisen sauce, napkin dispenser, and big Asian spoons. The waiters are friendly and pretty quick to bring out your drinks. If you're with your family, all the food comes out at once, which is nice. Pho Dac Biet Xe Lua: comes in a big bowl, the bare minimum requirement beside being edible. The flavor doesn't have a strong MSG taste which is good and is comparable to the average Little Saigon pho shops. Decent amount of meat, tripe, meatballs and noodles. The filet mignon cooked well enough in the soup and was pleasant to chew on, especially with Hoisen and Sriracha. BBQ pork chop with broken rice, sausage, egg cake, shredded pork and random vegetables: Always my second favorite dish to judge a Viet restaurant by. Drizzling their good but standard Nuoc Cham (sweet, spicy dipping sauce) over everything gave it a flavor taht made me want to devour the whole plate in a disgusting fashion. There weren't any particularly weak items in the dish. 4 stars for good Viet food, standard pricing, decent service where the servers speak both Viet and English, and clean facilities.

This place used to be great. let me explain, when it first opened the service was great. Sat, ordered, and delivered food to the table in a timely manner. But as of lately the service has been going south. With an abundance of service that have little to no experience, what else can you expect. The food is good (not great), but the service is the reason why i gave this 3 stars when it could've been higher.

.., We've been coming here quite often lately. I've been on a pho binge for the past year it seems. This is the closest spot in Chino for pho that I know of thus far. The prices here are pretty cheap if not decent. I usually grab their #22 which is the pho ga (chicken/chicken broth). On other days I would grab their #23 I believe, which is the bbq pork & rice. My brother loves that dish. Service here is ok, it's either hit or miss as far as attentive goes. The only time we usually see our server is when we order, & when we get our food. I've been getting Thai iced teas here w/ boba alot as well. The first batch I ordered was very bland, but the past few times have been consistent. One thing you must keep in mind, is that YOU PAY YOUR BILL AT THE CASHIER. Each table has a number on it that the cashiers use to ring your tab up. The servers usually fail to tell you this, so I thought I'd save you the time waiting for your check, because it ain't coming. Check em' out.

I usually order pho tai to-go. I call in and maybe 10 minutes later, I arrive and it is ready for me to pick up. never any complaints here no credit card minimum as far as I know pho tai $5.95 com bo nuong (charbroiled beef) $6.50 com bo luc lac (diced beed steak) $9.25 UPDATE: 2012/09/16 So this has happened a few times where I would order to-go/pick up and when I leave, they add an extra dollar or two to tip (even though I usually give them tip for to-go/pick up orders). Does not happen all the time, but always do make sure to fill the receipt completely before leaving (and enough so that it is not left to "interpretation"). Just to be safe! This is a reflection on some of the staff, not the food itself.

This place was as packed as the mall during the holiday season. We got here at 9 thinking there wouldn't be a lot of people an hour before closing. Boy were we wrong. Luckily, there was one table left and I booked it. They have a big plasma in the corner so all the dudes can be entertained and watch their sports. They also offer boba smoothies but I didn't see anyone order it while I was there. Their menu could be a bit overwhelming if it's your first time there. They have everything from pho, rice dishes, vermicelli (bun), rice/egg noodle soup, chow fun, banh mi, etc. I was so conflicted, it was as if I was choosing my last supper! I finally decided on the pho with brisket, well done flank, tendon, and tripe. We also got egg rolls and charbroiled meatballs for appetizers. The broth was pretty average, but with what this area has to offer, it probably stands out as being one of my top options. It really did the trick with the 50 degree weather that night. It had that intensifying kick to it which warmed our tummies. The noodles were kind of on the icky side. They were hard to break apart, almost like they were old. The portions, however, were more than generous. My pho had a lot of meat. Very impressive. The egg rolls were nothing special but the charbroiled meatballs were questionable. We couldn't put our finger on it, but they were oddly good. They look like pink sausages but they had the texture of fish balls. They weren't sweet but they weren't all that salty. Make sure you dip it with the fish sauce or else there won't be that much flavor to it. I'm still not sure if I'd order it again. Just a very odd experience! This is my new go-to pho spot if I'm ever in the area. My last experience at Pho 2007 was a total nightmare. This place is clean, the parking situation isn't as insane, and they accept cc.

Come here once and you'll see why this place should be 5 stars. Easily the best vietnamese food in town. My wife and I started eating here in March 2011 and have been coming here at least four times a month. The reasons why we love it: -great quality -low prices -fast service -kind staff The vermicelli with beef and egg roll is the go-to item everytime we come. The beef sandwich, beef pho, and garlic beef are all sure-shot items if you're not sure what to order. Fresh springrolls and eggrolls are good starters if you can't wait. Just make sure to go to the cashier and pay when you're done eating.

Place is cool, price is right and the service is usually fast. With a place like this you should know what you are getting into it's not a 5-star dinning establishment but if you are hung over or feeling under the weather then hit this place up for some good Pho. The food is good and consistent. Pho sho

This is one of the first pho restaurants I've gone to in the area. I used to go here all the time because I really liked the pho and the vermicelli dishes. But in time (3 years or so), I visited other pho restaurants and compared. This restaurant's pho is mediocre and it sometimes tasted too... dark? or salty. Their vermicelli, however, with chicken or pork never disappointed and I really enjoyed the shrimp paste the comes with some of the dishes. The portions are good and not overwhelming at all. But maybe underwhelming at times. My sister and I would sometimes order the Thai iced tea or one of the boba drinks... the iced tea was okay but don't order the slush boba drinks unless you want a sugar overload. It's diabetes in cup. Seriously. The pho is mediocre and their service does not help. They got our pho orders wrong last month and they didn't bring out my boyfriend's dish until we asked two servers about it. Oh yeah, I forgot, the servers do not seem happy at all. They ignore you at times or forget about what you asked for... like why one of our orders took 20 mins to come out... It's gets pretty crowded for a place that's just, meh; especially during the weekend. The ambiance of the restaurant is sorta modern chic for casual dining and it's not the hole in the wall type at all. But we now only go here because we want something warm when we're in the area.

Been here several times for it's a good place to get tasty hot soups especially on a chilly day... However, on this visit, there was a lack in consistency. We always get the #1, and normally you can't go wrong with the basic. Today the soup was bland, and boardering on sour. The meats were clearly pre-cooked. There was 2 different types of noodles in my bowl. Details are clearly overlooked when the place gets busy.

    (2)
  • Jeremy T.

Not a bad spot for pho, they have a tinier pho bowl for women. I don't know of many pho places out in Chino Hills, and this will suffice. I especially like their combo specials - they come with a generous serving of the rice and chicken, along with the bean curd and shrimp. Bottomline: typical pho place, but located in 91709!

    (4)
  • Matthew K.

The pho here is really good, probably the best for a 15 mile radius. They have a variety of drinks, like the che with red bean. The place always seems to be buzzing too, even at the lunch hour. As for the quality of the food, I would give this place 5 stars. However, service is a bit lacking. It is kinda' hard to mark a pho place down for that though, because how much service can one really expect from a pho restaurant? Normally the answer would be that there is no expectation of good service at a pho restaurant. When entering this restaurant the servers point to where you should go sit, and when ordering you will get the simple "okay" or maybe not even that. It is a quick and an impersonal process. However, there are emerging new/modern pho restaurants that provide the service with the quality of food as well. For example, Pho Tasty in Cerritos welcomes us at the door, smiles, and even says "thank you!" in the end. Can you believe it? Because of this, California Noodle Grill, despite the quality food, receives a lower ranking until they can provide that same level of service to that level of their food.

When I'm craving pho and I don't want to drive 30 minutes to westminster or wait for my mother to cook some, this is the go-to spot. The food is decent, I always get the vermicelli with the eggrolls and pork. [bun thit-nuong] or pho xe lua. Its a bit pricey and the service sorta sucks when I came. The guy forgot our small soup and water. Then took him a good 30 mins to get our to-go food for my granny.

This Pho place is located in the city famous for being both the home of Eva Longoria and the one and only "bikini girl" made famous in the recent American Idol Auditions when the only sarastic thing that came out of Simon Cowell's mouth was his eyes falling out of his sockets. Chino Hills is an interesting city, but ahemph, I'm supposed to be writing about this Pho place which is technically in Chino on the opposite side of the Freeway. I enjoyed the interior of this place, suprisingly modern looking for a pho place. The service is very good and quick. I had the 122, a sea food egg noodle combo that was not bad. The dac biet pho had very fresh pieces of rare steak and very soft tendons. The soup unfortunately is drenched in MSG. If you don't fair too well with MSG, you'll have problems here. If you can handle that, then, you'll be ok with this place. It's a very strong 3 star place, but because of it's overall cleaniless (at least in appearance), I'm gonna knock this place up a star. Call this a white boy's positive rating of a Pho place based on purely shallow reasons. Did I say the basils were very fresh and flavorful?

This is like the only pho place around this area that I know of. The food is good, and taste fresh. This place gives you a good amount of beef in their noodles. I usually order pho tai sach. The only problem there is their bad service. It looks like they don't have a lot of people working there, but they are hiding in the kitchen...

I love what is Asian and soupy.. hence why I love me the pho! I go here quite often because I have family close by and this place literally about 5 mintues away from them.. It's really good pho.. the flavor of the broth is good.. they give a good amount of noodles.. and they also give a good amount of meat.. Eating here makes me very happy and satisfied.. My mom.. who is not too big on the pho.. had the porkchops and rice.. and wow.. that was really good.. I tasted it and the meat was very flavorful and the servings were just right. My cousin's husband.. which would make him my cousin-in-law.. discovered a small little fly decided to try his tasty pho.. informed the waiters.. and they gave him a nice, fresh bowl of tasty pho.. no hesitation at all.. That was the only time I had ever encountered such a suicidal fly in this restaurant.. so I'm not going to hold it against them.. I have been coming there for years.. and that was the first time I have ever experienced that.. Go here and try it yourself.. and afterwards.. hit up the bakery next door and have some yummy dark chocolate gelato!

Damn... Did the service get sucky-er since the last time we came here? Eh..whatevers. It seems to be the trend these days with most Asian "fast-food" joints. Ay, as long as the food is delicious, hot, fast and cheap (just like my women) I'll keep comin' here.

I go here a lot. I love Pho. To be honest, they don't have the best broth in the world, but I doctor it up to my liking just fine. It's the best I've found in the area. The meat is good and the price is great. Chicken and egg roll vermicelli is my personal favorite. The menu is huge and everything I've gotten has been yummy. My only complaint is that they don't have many vegetarian options. I have a few vegetarian friends, and usually asian food is a good option.... not so much here.

Really!!! this is the second Vietnamese restaurant I went this week with horrible service. It's just awful. These waiters need to be train good, or something. They treat you like you're a prisoner or something. I would not go there AGAIN. No greetings, you have call them and wait for a long time for a service. I have been to a lot foreign restaurant ie., THAI, CHINESE, MEXICAN, INDIAN, ETHIOPIAN, ARABIC, JAPANESES, KOREAN etc... but never got this TYPE of service. I'll try some more Vietnamese retaurants and find out what's going on...

Best Pho in Chino Hills! (even though there are only 2 ). Decor is nice nice and modern. The bean dessert drink is the best. Love this place.

This is my favorite place to get pho in Chino Hills. I always get the beef stew noodle soup with thick rice noodle (ho fun). It always comes oh so tasty, with a good portion of tender stewed meat. The portion size is perfect for me, but my husband seems to leave hungry when he orders the small size. So if you're a big eater, make sure you order the larger size! The price is a little more expensive than other places $6-7/bowl, but the atmosphere feels cleaner here and you also get a flat screen tv in the corner, just in case there's a laker game on.

The service was horrible, our waitress was rude, and my friend and I got food poisoning from the meatball soup they served us.

I am definitely a fan of ca. noodle and grill! used 2 live in chino hills and as soon as this place opened, i wuz there. as u know, most pho restaurants r not very clean and most of them r cash only. i gave it 5 stars 4 their location (easy access from 71 fwy), price is great, very clean, variety of items listed on the menu, and most importantly, the food is yummy!!! i always order the grilled pork chops (comes with rice, fried shrimp, cucumbers, and that nom nom sauce. some other items that taste great is their fried spring rolls and pho tai (rare steak noodle) the service is quick. this is my favorite vietnamese restaurant!!! oh and the cafe su da is good also.

Did they change management? We discovered this restaurant by picking them out of the phone book. Went there many times until the end of last year. For some reason, the food did not taste the same and was given less meat. Huge disappointment to us because we love Pho. The egg rolls are great. This place is always busy, specially on Sunday afternoons (after church). Food comes out quickly, good price and the portion was better. The waiters need to be trained better, as in listen and actually give the customer what they need. I was disappointed a few times when I was given a dirty bowl (I literally saw him take food out of the bowl and gave it to me) and was not given a fork (I asked for for the fork 4 times). I finally gave up and went to the cashier to give me a fork. **I'm only giving it 2 starts because of the service***

This had been my go to pho forever, it's busy, mostly very tasty and good quality meats and veggies, great broths, but last time I had beef that made me very very very sick. I thought I was gonna die for two days. I called to let them know but whoever I spoke with was like oh sorry but whatever... For some reason cannot bring myself to return...

California Noodle & Grill is my go to local pho joint and I love it. The service is quick, the food is good, and the prices are right. I'm not Vietnamese and definitely no pho connoiseur, so I can't really vouch for authenticity, but everything I've had here has been very tasty. I love their pho, both beef and chicken are excellent. and always reliable. Aside from pho, I also like their bun and if I recall, their sandwiches weren't bad either. My mom likes the rice plates with the grilled pork and omelette thing. I'm sure I'll be back many more times, whenever I need to make a Target run :)

When I first came to California Noodle & Grill, I didn't have high expectations. I know that for legitimate Pho, you should venture out to Westminster/Garden Grove, but if you don't feel like making a drive out there, then California Noodl & Grill is the way to go. The waitstaff is cool with their yellow shirts and True Religion jeans. They give quick and good service. Pros -Great Pho in Chino Hills -Good and Quick service -They don't glare at you when you ask for more limes or when you ask them to cook the bean sprouts -Sports is always on their LCD TV's (probably b/c the staff bets on the games! jk) Cons -Noodles sometimes come out clumpy and hard to break apart -You smell of mild fish sauce on your clothes and skin after you leave

I ordered TOGO and they gave me the wrong order AGAIN. They are nice people, but they SUCK at TOGO orders. This is my last time ordering from them as a TOGO person. I gave them two stars because they made to many mistakes on my orders. yup. The soup is ok. There spring rolls could be better. There fried rice needs a little more salt or so forth.

Fast service, fresh ingredients and never disappointing. Sometimes it xan be a little crowded but the food is worth it. Definitely one of the better spots for pho in the I.E.

3.5 The price is $.75-$1 more expensive compare to other places. The soup base for the pho is good. The charcoiled boiled pork sandwich is very good. The pork was marinated really well. The wrap (shrimp and vemicille noodle) it was good as well. Wish the sauce was a little more spicy. I gave 3.5 because if it taste the same with other places, why come here and get rip off $.75-1 more for each item I ordered?

  • J. C.

Fast and yummy! I usually get the House Special Pho, it has a bit of everything. The shrimp spring rolls are also good for an appetizer, it comes with a peanut sauce on the side. I've been to a couple of Pho places around and this is by far the best!

  • Rachel A.

Great food, low prices, nice atmosphere, excellent service, clean. The beef ball Pho, Beef Pho, and egg rolls were excellent. Lots of parking. The pho is packed full of noodles and meat, not chintzy like some places. Extremely filing! Veggies were very fresh and crisp. Another thing I appreciated, they serve Coke AND Pepsi!

Drivin around Chino, and what do I see? Pho! Boo Ya-ka-sha! That's what I said! Walking in to this restaurant you'll find it's not brightly lit, which I really happen to enjoy. Sometimes bright lights are just not meant to be. This dining area is pretty darn clean, aaaaand so are the condiments off to the side of each table. Skimming through the menu is a lot of variations on the same dish with different meats. To start off with a drink...order anything ya want, cause let me tell you that the water tasted a little nasty to me. Maybe I'm a filtered water brat, who knows? The thai iced tea was yummy and they can serve it with boba too. On to the goods. I ordered the spring rolls, not too bad...but the sauce wasn't all that great. I put tons of Sriracha in it...and I still didn't like the dipping sauce. I thought Sriracha could save any day, any meal for that matter. I was sad to say this Sriracha super sauce still lost to the mediocre flavor. I took the liberty of ordering the Pho (#2 on the menu) which had the brisket, tendon, and tripe. A great Vietnamese restaurant serving Pho will have a great broth. I was totally let down. Maybe Sunday January the 22nd 2012 was an off day, but that broth was lacking flavor. I have seriously purchased a tub of pre seasoned stuff at 99 Ranch market, and threw meat in the pot, with better Pho than what this restaurant served me. My mom ordered a Vermicelli dish, and that seemed to lack some flavor as well...Even the fish sauce seemed watered down. All in all, I'd try this place again, but I can say it's no where close to becoming a favorite of mine.

My fave they are always good and fast no bs down home pho joint. I am lucky to have this near me as i have moved from my childhood favorite pho ha in pomona. BTW portions of meat on the beef pho is very generous! Its like the beef is the noodle. LOVE it dont ever change.

Whoa, halfway decent pho in Chino of all places. Plus you pay about the same as a value meal from McD's. Will try the rice dishes next time.

  • Jay Z.

My BF and I often frequent this place for some good pho. Service is always quick, food is fresh, and they're not skimpy on the amount of meat & noodles. We've tried the regular beef pho and seafood pho, as well the house special combo soup with egg noodles. All have been delicious. Also tried the fresh spring rolls in the past, but it really didn't stand out.

There are not many choices for Vietnamese food in the Chino hills area. This place is probably the best available here. Overall the food is decent and not overly salty. Service when busy is not too efficient.

  • Michael O.

One of the most decent Vietnamese restaurant in Chino Hills. Ok first of you don't come to this place expecting an awesome pho because the pho they serve is mediocre at best. However if you want to try their broken rice dish or com tam even though is is not so broken--it is definitely one of my favorites. Their Pork Chop OMG... I would like to take a moment of silence just to savor the juicy melts in your mouth savory taste. Their steam egg is decent and their Shrimp paste is standard. But overall if you are craving for a good Vietnamese style rice dish this is definitely the place to go.

This place hits home for me and I would choose to eat at this pho place over anywhere else! I'm probably here once a week to satisfy my cravings. Considering that its the only pho place other than Pho 2007 in Chino Hills, it usually gets pretty packed around peak lunch times 12-1 and dinner 7-8ish. But the food is great, everything from the pho, bun and rice combo plates, prices are cheap, and service is quite normal of what you would experience at an Asian restaurant - fast and simple.

Good Pho soup at a reasonable price. I bring my family of 5 and we all eat well with 3 large Pho soup bowls. It is a fairly large place with good service and since we order the soup, it comes out fast. This is important since my kids can't sit still for more than 1 minute.

i LOVE pho... though this place is not the closest, but it's the best i could get if i am craving for pho and need to have one NOW... some of the viet restaurants are not so clean, but this one is really neat... and spacious... love that they have tvs around the restaurants so you could watch the news/games while eating. some of the viet restaurants only have viet shows on but not this one! services are super fast too... love it!

Let first say I HATE THIS PLACE being Vietnamese I've eaten too much PHO we only go here because its close. Lets talk about PHO The pho here is HORRIBLE The broth is clean and semi clear which is good (if you get pho with dark brown broth leave) Look at the pic people have provided the broth is alittle too brown and cloudy. The problem is they but way too much black pepper and Star Anise in their broth to intensify the flavor and to mask the fact that the broth lacks depth and umami. Bottom line they are not using enough if ANY OX TAIL in their broth which is the key to Pho's richness. If you want to test this ask for a piece of OX TAIL on the side of you PHO. Also good PHO place uses charred onions (blacken parts discarded) which adds sweetness, this place even lacks that. The meats they used are as follows Flank steak: passable and cut correctly if a little too thin Brisket: cut too thin almost shredded and lacks any flavor while adding nothing but volume. Shredded Brisket means one thing frozen cheap meats. They could use a better brisket and carve it too order its really not that hard. Proper pho "fat brisket" has a thin ribbon of "YELLOW" Fat that is crisp not fatty unfortunately this is really hard to find and only avail in some shops in Bolsa (Garden Grove) or San Jose. Bible Tripe needs to be cooked longer. Tendon this is the most egregious error that this place makes on Pho. They buy their tendons pre cooked in large cubes and then slices them up. It 's over cooked to a jelly like state and has no flavor or shape. Good tendon is should not be compressed cubes of tendon! WTF Also good tendon has a slight bite and chew to it. Meat/tendon Balls: listen unless you know who makes them avoid getting this it is always made with the leftover crazy cuts of beef or even worse mechanically render beef products ewwwwwwwwww. (And its a girls version of pho haha) The noodles: They bunch up together into a big ball in your bowl. they have no memorable quality or homemade feel to them at all. again over cooked. Sides are their but whatever Even the hosin sauce is the cheap kind. They offer other dishes like fried spring rolls and rice plates but all are very pedestrian and badly cooked. For example all their rice dishes should be made with broken rice but not here you get plain long grain rice. Ask them to fry yo up an egg with your rice dish and you will see, basically they take a perfectly good egg and deep fry it or something, its crazy looking and inedible. I love eggs and these people should be ashamed at how they rape their eggs. but even with two stars its much better than 90% of the places to eat in Chino Hills (which is fat people fast food heaven where volume is king). So if you want to over pay for an interpretation of Pho than go here

Alright food but service ruined everything. Almost waited an hour for our first water refill when we were the ONLY people in there. Waiter was rushing me when I was ordering and I had to keep telling him that I didn't want a big bowl to which he insisted that I did. refused to respond with anything but "yeh" and a nod of the head. This is a no go food friends.

Recently moved to area and boyfriend and I were looking for good pho place, others near our area so far have been a fail. Either over-priced or smaller portions. So far this place has been the best one we have found. Pho pretty good, decent portion and price. Also ordered a chicken dish which was also decent, though not sure if was the best. Would come back.

  • Loucid I.

There's enough Pho places around this area but this one stays the most consistent and has a lot of great rice dishes. Each menu item has a picture and a number so ordering is painless. I'm really picky with my Pho and not a lot of places know what they're doing. A Pho place either has the soup down right or not at all, there's no in-between for me. California Noodle & Grill however, has a great rich broth and plenty of rice & noodle alternative dishes to go around as well. NOTE: The Pho Ga is still with the same broth for beef so it's not the chicken broth. They even have Banh Mi but it's not the extensive ones with deli meats, just regular chunks of meat... still good though! Basically if you want Pho but don't want to drive to OC or San Gabriel, this is where you want to go. Pros: - Authentic Pho in Chino Hills area. - Great eggrolls. - Plenty of Rice & Noodle dishes. - Every item has a picture. - Large location, fits a lot of people. - Parking is plenty. Cons: - Sometimes hard to flag down waiters. - Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) uses the beef broth instead of Chicken broth.

an amazing restaurant! i went there this afternoon w/ my cousins and absolutely loved it! the atmosphere is great! it is mostly crowded, and you may sit next to complete strangers who are only separated by napkins, chopsticks, and condiments like hoisin sauce, sriracha, and chili pepper paste. but that was alright by me. the place is also very CLEAN, neat, and organized. the service is friendly and unbelievably FAST! even w/ all the customers there, about five minuets after we ordered our meal, we began to eat... the food was excellent! they have a wide variety of menu items at a great price! i ordered #1, the house special, which left me in a food coma for a couple of hours! the flavor of the broth was good, and the amount of noodles and meat was good too. we also ordered the egg rolls... not once, but twice. we could not have enough... the egg rolls are TO DIE FOR! they are incredible! with the dipping sauce, the flavor enhances ten fold! i suggest you order that along w/ your meal! to summarize: the food is great, the service is great, and the egg rolls are great ;]

Very good pho. I have not dined in but have order over the phone many times. Food does not take long to pick up and is always fresh. Their beef sandwich is delicious and is only like three bucks. A good lunch choice. Only thing is that they do not speak very good english so I would recommend getting their menu first so you can order by numbers.

Best replacement since Pho Express on Holt closed down. Singlehandedly debunks the myth that cleanliness and authenticity are mutually exclusive. Stays crowded all afternoon on weekends. Their pho is unreal and their menu includes a wide variety of other Asian dishes (especially Thai) as well. NOM NOM NOM NOM

Our pho spot!! Been going to this pho ever since I started eating it. Lol. Glad to see that it is an "A" again. I don't eat any of that tendon, flank, etc. So I always stick with the # 12. Rare steak & Brisket. If you're feeling a little extra hungry, get the egg rolls. Wrap them in the lettuce they come in and dip em in the sauce. BOMB!! Also, they give extra lettuce if you ask. :) Customer service is quick too! Always a plus!!

The restaurant is large and spacious. It looks cleaner than a lot of other vietnamese restaurants that I have been to. The pho broth here is good but not the best that I have had. If in the mood for a rice dish, you can't really go wrong with charbroiled pork chops. I docked off two stars because of ocassional poor service, which is not necessarily atypical for some asian restaurants. Be prepared to have to flag down waiters for refills and watch as they just sit down at tables and eat food instead of being attentive to customer needs. Sometimes I question the cleanliness and prep of food at this location too as I remember this place was operating with a C as their health grade for a while. Once again, not atypical for an asian restaurant.. Still a better option than most of the other Vietnamese restaurants in Chino Hills.

In the mood for Vietnamese food? You may want to check out California Noodle and Grill. It's conveniently located in Chino Hills right off the 71fwy across from shopping malls. This place is usually pretty busy so you may have to time it right when you come out. The restaurant is clean, menu huge and food pretty good. I get #75 Charbroiled pork over vermicelli noodles while hubby gets Pho and a side of spring and egg rolls I love #75 and it makes for a satisfying and not too heavy meal. Mix it with the hot sauce in the plastic container and it really kicks it up a few notches. This comes with the fried egg rolls and they are pretty good too. I suggest you give these a try. Knocked off 1 star because while the initial service is good with seating you and taking the order, the follow up with drink refills and such is slow if not absent.

My friend introduced me to this place, I would say it was okay. We came here during lunch time on a Tuesday. It took us about 10 minutes to get seated because they had empty tables that needed to be cleaned that took them awhile to do. Once we were seated we looked over the menu and my friend already knew what he wanted. My friend ordered the pho and I ordered pork chops w/ a baked egg. We also ordered egg rolls for our appetizer. pork chops w/ a baked egg - pork chops were pretty decent and flavorful, too bad they were pretty thin. Thankfully I ordered an extra pork chop to my order. Egg rolls - These I would say would be one of the best I've had, just that they are stingy with their lettuce. A plate of egg rolls came with two pieces of lettuce. COMMON!! I'm going to wrap 8 little pieces of egg rolls in two lettuce...? So my friend requested for more lettuce, yet again another two..I requested for more and one of the waiters got upset and told me you can only request once and you would have to pay the second time. At that point I didn't care, I just replied with " that's fine." When the bill came out, they charged me about 2.50 for an extra 2 lettuce and some pickled carrots... I can buy a head of lettuce for about dollar... I guess I will bring my own lettuce next time... Parking - Plenty of parking here, just that people don't know how to park.....

Tried this place today cause we were in the area and let me tell you the Pho was awful! The meat was all fat! I grew up in Westminster so I've tried different places and this place was the worst. Pho island in Ontario on riverside Dr and Archibald is the best!

Fast, Friendly service. They package the to-go portions separately and are pretty generous with portion size. I usually get the shrimp pho.

    (5)
  • Emily C.

3.5 STARS Admittedly not the best pho, but it will do. Pho here is ok. I like the vegetable broth as opposed to the beef broth as it doesn't leave me as thirsty afterwards. Beef stew comes with pretty hefty chunks of beef-- yum! Egg rolls are pretty good here-- I usually crave them and their fish sauce is not as pungent as other places but lacks the pickled radish and carrot. Oh well, I'll still take them. Get the bun here! I love their shrimp paste and beancurd skin wrapped shrimp paste. The shrimp paste has a nice bouncy texture and tastes great. Their nem nuong is aight though. Pork chop was juicy and flavored well-- different from the ones at other pho places. They recently got their "A" rating back up and the taste of their pho has changed just a little bit-- not as salty and more noodles. An affordable place with pretty good food that comes out quickly-- can't complain too much.

You can tell it's a good place by just take a look at how many people are waiting outside. Only con is that there are not enough parking space. My suggestion if you don't want to wait: Try BD Cafe next door, they have noodle as well.

    (4)
  • Mike V.

Not very good pho, not very good service, the meat in the pho was very tough and the noodles were cut so short they wouldn't wrap around the spoon or fork , and the service, we sat down and waited 20 minutes for a waitress to say hello , there are better places for Vietnamese food

    (2)
  • LeeMan L.

Was at a business trip in Chino and had some craving for a good hot bowl of Pho. I searched on yelp and came across this place. From the pics I can see it's a clean restaurant and the bowls look very tasty. I decided to order their combination Pho along with an order of fried egg rolls. Everything tasted fresh and tasty. Even their water didn't have that nasty metal taste like those other restaurants. Overall experience was great. Will definitely come here again...

My go to place for lunch. I always get their #1 large. I'm not Vietnamese, and frankly I think most pho places taste similar and this place is just slightly better than others, but again, maybe it's just the convinence.

On a cold rainy day pho just hits the spot, and I'm kind of picky when it comes to pho. And for those that say they don't taste the difference & pho is pho is wrong. Since I went to Cal Poly Pomona the only pho placed I really liked is in Diamond Bar, so it's great to finally have found another place close by! This place is kind of hidden but once u find it and walk in it's pretty big. We walked in and got seated right away, our waiter was pretty tentative! He got our orders in quick and brought our food out fast thankfully! The food was delicious from the eggrolls to my main course I enjoyed it! They also have a variety of other choices if your not in the mood for pho. And the price isn't bad either for my pho it was $8 for a decent sized bowl! I wasn't even close to finishing my bowl and thankfully this place also takes cash and credit

  • Donnaly N.

This place is alright. The pho is decent and could definitely be a go-to, especially since it's open until 10p. I usually get the small chicken pho, which has a pretty good portion of meat and is super filling. Thai tea is pretty standard as well. But the weirdest thing happened. I was here 30 mins before closing, so understandably, they were starting to clean up. One of the staff came to my table, threw trash on it (a crumpled chopsticks wrapper) then furiously cleaned the napkin and sauce holders at my table. With Windex. While I was still eating. The whole table was shaking from how hard he was scrubbing everything with a dirty rag. When he was done, HE LEFT THE TRASH ON MY TABLE. What? He didn't even apologize for having to clean or seem to think that wasn't okay that he literally THREW the trash on my table. And then left it there. Luckily it wasn't dirty dishes or used napkins, I would have lost it. Not sure why he thought any of this would be okay... Never coming back here again.

I just reailzed that my last review of this place was nearly 3 years ago. Although the food and service definitely haven't gotten worse, they haven't improved either. If you are looking for a large vietnamese menu wherein each dish is notably OK, then California Noodle will work. This isn't my first choice for Vietnamese food in the area though. p.s. try the banh mi. Not bad for 3 bucks and change.

So I came to the restaurant during the worker's lunch break. Of course I now every human being needs to have a break, however; I was sort of ticked off because they didn't even bother to take my order... but I was able to cool off once I got my bowl of pho. UNTIL I SAW A FLY IN MY SOUP AFTER I FINISHED EVERYTHING... I told one of the workers, but he had a nonchalant attitude that really pissed me off. He didn't even apologize. The only thing he said was "okay" and then went back. I definitely do NOT recommend this place

    (1)
  • Lisa H.

I am going to have to agree with some of the reviews left on here. Customer service is pretty bad. The soup is super oily and I noticed the waiter was grabbing the vegetables with his bare hands after handling other things including handling money. I stopped eating my pho and prayed that I don't get sick but I ended up having a really bad stomach ache. I should of known better then to walk into a Vietnamese restaurant with a B rating but I guess seeing is a lot worse than not seeing! Will definitely not be returning here.

    (1)
  • Joel W.

Reasonably good broth, tendon was done well. Nothing bad, nothing great. I would return again because of convenience and speed. Large Menu, their fried rice dishes are a bit sweet tasting.. Egg rolls are pretty good, spring roll were a little dry.

  • Sam L.

Like many other reviewers, I eat pho quite often. I've been to pho places in Rowland Heights, Pomona, Fullerton, Brea, LA, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, and yes, Westminster! Even though I would consider the pho restaurants in Westminster the most authentic, this place wasn't bad at all. I ordered the combination pho, which should be the flagship dish of any pho restaurants. It had little less meat than I'd anticipated but it was good! The soup wasn't as oily as some other places & overall it was a well prepared dish. Then I tried their shrimp & pork rolls, which are also known as "spring rolls" in other places. The ingredients were fresh & I absolutely enjoyed 'em! One thing that concerned me about this place before my first visit was the "C" grade from the health inspection I saw from the photos. However, as of today (05/12/2014,) its grade has changed to "A," which is a good news for those of you who are health conscious. The staff are nice & they have a tv. It had CNN & I asked them if I can watch TNT (The NBA Playoff,) and they immediately changed the channel for me. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I've had better tasting pho elsewhere. However, I'll definitely visit this place again!

AWFUL..AWFUL...AWFUL...just got turned away for a sit down dinner..HOW RUDE!!!!!! Went in at 8.43 p.m. One of the waiters immediately told us.."Oh sorry we are closed." I asked "What time you guys close?" And the guy hesitantly didn't want to answer me, but mistakenly said.."We close at 10." So I replied, but it.s not even 10 yet, it.s not even 9!!!" Then he said. "Oh sorry, we close at 9, but we stop taking people 15 minutes before we close. But I can take a togo order." OH HELL NOOOO!!!!! YOU THINK I WANNA ORDER TOGO AND COME BACK AND EAT HERE EVER AGAIN, after being turned away to sit down and eat at your restaurant???? NOOOOO *****!!! Your food ain't all that!!! I go someplace else that will seat me at 8.57 p.m and close at 9..GO TO SAIGON NOODLE HOUSE in diamond bar. THEY WILL! ! (And mind you, we did go there at 8.57 p.m., got seated and ate, after being turned away.) So my peeps..go there instead!! Service: 1 star Food: 3 stars My family and I have been going here for several years. This is pretty much our go-to spot for Vietnamese food after Sunday church but we will never go to this restaurant ever again. Upon entering, we realized that they received a B rating in cleanliness. Anyway, they definitely need to wash their plates and bowls properly because we found soy sauce/hot sauce/rice (I honestly don't know what it is) all over the plates. My brother asked for an extra bowl and our waiter took bowls from a table he was bussing and gave it to us. Completely disgusting. Our waiter was REALLY careless and just completely unprofessional. Nobody refilled our water and nobody checked up on us from start to finish. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE. We are never returning. Food was mediocre.

A pho restaurant you would expect to find in Chino Hills. Hits: * Though the restaurant isn't big, we are usually seated right away * Satisfactory service -- the waiters acknowledge Chris K's family as regulars, and they even banter back lame dad jokes with Papa K (that's a rarity), though it's apparent there is a huge language barrier Lessons Learned: * The clientele comprises predominantly of non-Asians -- case in point: forks are the default utensils here.. chopsticks only available on request to consume Vietnamese food... how dare I?? -.- * Food isn't expensive, but not cheap for portion sizes either -- the Large bowl here is considered a regular size at most pho places * The pho ... and food, in general... isn't very good, and packed too much with MSG -- my cheeks were feeling numb and heavy before I finished my broth * Pretty greasy tables -- well, I guess it makes for a more authentic hole-in-the-wall experience * The restaurant name is neither creative nor funny... Boo!!! Only under the following conditions will I consider returning: (1) I'm not paying for the meal, (2) it's convenient to dine here.. as in, I happen to be in the plaza (3) I'm having bad symptoms of pho withdrawals. Otherwise, I would rather patronize other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, if I'm too lazy to drive out to Little Saigon to get my fix.

Working in the area and looked in yelp for banh mi for lunch. Came up with this place. Ordered pork banh mi and a couple egg rolls. Banh mi was good. A little heavier than Lee's. The bread was good and pork had good flavor. The egg rolls were very good I would say 4 star egg rolls. I read comments about their service and although this was take out, I did experience the reason for the poor service comments. The place was not packed, yet the service seemed pre-occupied with things other than the customers. They did seem to bring out pho orders quickly that I observed. However.... does anyone smile in this place? They have sort of a scowl on their faces. Rude taking orders. Lady seemed upset I was only ordering 1 banh mi. When my order was ready.. she sort of yelled at jy to come over and get my order. Then proceeded to had my a bag and never make eye contact so I knew everything was in the bag. She just turned away and went to doing what very else she had on her mind. Do we not thank customers? Food was good enough to try again. May try the pho next time... but I am sure the service will be lacking. I thanked myself for coming and walked out.

Yelp 2014 Challenge #7/100 So glad I looked at the Yelp reviews on here saying that the small would be able to fill me up! I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend around noon and got seated. Immediately after doing so, the waiter gave us iced waters and left us for about 5 minutes. He came back, asked us what we wanted (which was hard because it seemed like he didn't speak much english) so we basically said the numbers of the things we wanted. The quality of the pho was so-so (I can't really compare since it was my first time but I'll compare it to other noodle places). They gave enough noodles, meat, green onions, and soybeans. They also had mint, lime, cilantro on the side (which came with the soybeans). This is a place where you just sit down, get your stuff, and leave. Fun, isn't it? Nice decor, though. They were fancied up for the Lunar New Year. And we had their shrimp rolls in the sauce (which I don't even know the name, sorry!) but they were pretty fresh tasting! You shouldn't leave hungry though. You get what you paid for.

Alright place to be! Awesome place, to stuff yourself with great price! the only thing I have problem is their services quality~ they set me at the middle of the restaurant, and majority of the time, I could only see staff running by me, and I had to literally wave my hand before I can gain some attention. I had the house special soup noodle~ and it was certainly house special! The broth! PERFECT 10 The noodle~ score of 9 The itinerary~ score of 9 The price~ score of 8 (hey! we all hope for something cheaper! ) overall, it is a great place to crash~! Family oriented~ Loving couple~ or simply just bunch of friend trying to get-to-gather they have verity of appetizer, main course, and of course, dessert! if you love noodle or rice~ or BaoBa and you ARE in Chino! This is a good place!

I like going to this place because it is close by and prices are affordable. I like how the broth for the pho tastes. I try to order something new each time I go back. The only thing lacking is greeting the guest and making sure everything is good once you get your food at the table.

The pho here is ok, but i'll say it's the best within the chino valley area. When i have a pho craving and my mom is unable to whip up a pot of pho, this is where we'll end up going. The regular bowls of pho seem pretty small in my opinion. Egg rolls are good. Food looks clean and the service is good. It aint what your momma makes, but it'll do for now.

I've been a frequent visitor this place for 3-4 years. Food is good. Today I've found a piece of rubber band on the pho noodle soup. Showed to the owner but he took the rubber and went to the kitchen without saying an apology. When I was to pay the check, all he said was refund the price of bowl of noodle soup. I was not looking for a refund. I was hoping the sincere apology from the owner. Am I asking too much?

I've been here several times, usually getting the Pho Tai. I like the portion size and flavor. Not a lot of floating fat globules in the broth, giving it a 'clean' feel. Definitely recommended!

I've been here many, many times and simply put, pho is pho. It's soothing and good to have on a cold night. What makes this place stand out is their cleanliness and their egg rolls! It's very rare to find a really clean, Vietnamese restaurant that serves really delicious egg rolls. It's always been one or the other. Service here is very fast and that's a plus. Prices are also decent. I frequent this place a lot during the winter so I'm giving it 4 stars. I must really like this place if I keep coming back, right?

As this is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in the Chino Hills area, I've been here more than I care to admit. I've gotten the standard pho and charbroiled pork with vermicelli, and both don't compare to other establishments if you're willing to drive twenty minutes. The vermicelli noodles seem old, and their charbroiled pork doesn't even come out hot. They definitely just chopped up pre-cooked pieces and threw it in there.

Its quick, its simple, its Pho=) I know of better places in San Gabriel but I don't want to drive there all the time for it. I usually come here for lunch with my wife and I have had good experiences every time.

I rate it 2 star even though the pho is great here but the douche bag waiters here makes you feel most unwelcomed. I feel like they don't give a rats azz about customer service. Can't wait till the new pho (same as pho rowland) opens up on peyton and grand.

Came here a couple times. last time i went it was really busy. Was able to sit after a couple of minutes. place is pretty nice and clean. Food that we ordered came out really fast which is great. if you ask for a large, its going to be "LARGE" so i say split a Large with someone. Only thing i didn't like was some of the tables you had to share with others.

OUCH. your rating just went down 2 stars. last time i came, it was 1 hour before closing. the soup was lukewarm/borderline cold. OUCH. stop being cheap and heat up some soup for those stragglers. bad experience.

6/6/11: I am rarely in B.F.E. (Chino), so when I am, I try and stop at Cali Noodle for what I once believed was the best pho in Southern California, including Little Saigon, Westminster. I ordered the #10 Rare beef, well-done brisket, flank steak, and I added meatballs. The broth was not as savory as I once remember. Perhaps they have a different cook now? Sadly, I now need new place to grind in Chino. Pho Lu in Garden Grove now holds the crown for me, especially with their oxtail. However, when I'm in L.A., Pho 4000 in Koreatown is where I satisfy my pho cravings.
