Amazing all around. From the bubbles at check in to the evening wine and appetizers. The two owners are so hospitable and definitely have great attention to detail as it is seen throughout the entire B&B. The morning breakfast is so yummy and flavorful. Our king size bed was so cozy and the room was clean and nicely made up every morning. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Calistoga. We plan to stay here again. :)

We had a very nice time here. The host is gracious and charming, and the meals were quite nice. So was the pool. The 'but' for me was the price - $620 per night. The first evening we were in a room on the first floor where we were told the room temperature was 'not adjustable'. Our room was as cold as a refrigerator all night long. We love Calistoga, but this Inn should be about $300 per evening, and not double that. Unless they adjust the rates, we'll be looking elsewhere to stay.

I am happy to join the many 5 star reviews given to this exceptional Inn. This is like no B&B you have ever stayed at before. Joel was one of the most gracious and thoughtful innkeepers I have ever met. Ever detail was anticipated and delivered upon want the very highest standard. From the welcome glass of Schramsberg to the amazingly comfortable bed. The breakfast was a gourmet experience to rival that of the finest restaurants. This is a truly memorable inn and we will be back.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this bed and breakfast!! Was taken here as a surprise from my boyfriend and it was such a romantic getaway. The hosts are incredibly hospitable and truly make you feel like you're staying at their home. Amazing little treats strewn across the room including a bouquet of roses, delicious Artisan chocolates, toffee, little sweets at night, endless champagne. The morning breakfast is a 5 star experience combining delicious flavors with a home made feel. I will definitely be back! I can't stop talking about this place. Merci!!!

This place was simply magical. Hands down the best service I have ever had at any B&B or hotel, ever. I wanted a place that would be extra special for my new fiancé and this place exceeded my expectations. When we checked in we were greeted with champagne and given a tour of the building and the grounds. Our innkeeper, Joel, was friendly and even went out of his way to book a dinner reservation when I asked for a recommendation. They literally thought of everything - chocolates on the bedroom pillow, a little vase of fresh flowers in the room, a handwritten welcome note, coffee outside our door in the morning, water brought to us when at poolside, wine and tasty treats before and after dinner time, and more. I learned that the rooms had all recently been remodeled, and the entire building was immaculate. Decor was contemporary with some old world charm mixed in to match the history and character of the building. The outside grounds were equally stunning, with beautiful landscaping and great attention to detail. A walk up some steps lead you to a quaint pool and hot tub that are nestled amongst mature trees for privacy. There is ample inviting space and seating to enjoy dinner, wine, coffee or book outdoors, like the front of the house, the front porch, and the side and back of the house. We loved this place so much that my fiancé and I are already making plans to return for our anniversary! P.S. Most comfortable pillows ever.

This place is as good as it gets. When I think bed and breakfast, I imagine a rustic country house with an acceptable breakfast included with the daily rate. The Chanric Inn is far from that! The charming old home was renovated and is now the most sleek and contemporary "inn" I've ever laid eyes on. It is impeccably decorated and absolutely spotless. The room was delightful. I am a particularly light sleeper and have "pillow problems" nearly everywhere I go. I slept like a baby my entire stay and the pillows were just right. During the evenings, my hubby and I would enjoy the complimentary hors d'oeuvres and sit on the patio by the fire, and upon our return after dinner, we were greeted with champagne and fresh chocolates. Aside from the wonderful hospitality and treats, this property is dog-friendly! GG was welcome throughout the inn and provided a bed and food and water bowls when we checked in. I am so grateful to have found this place. I cannot wait to return during an extended stay to the Napa area!

Joel was a fantastic host. The bnb was immaculately and tastefully decorated, the rooms were clean and well designed, and three course breakfast was really something. Thanks Joel, well be back!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon back in August 2014 and WE LOVED IT! We loved waking up to the smell of breakfast, Joel just did an amazing job! Our rooms were promtly clean while we ate either outside on the patio or inside. We were always greated by our names and we just felt like we were "at home". Our room was spacious along with our attached bathroom on the third floor. I loved not having a television in the room - although my husband would beg to differ - it was so peaceful! The grounds were beautiful as well. One of our favorite things to do was to grab some complimentary Champagne and sit on the porch at night. If you are going up to the Calistoga area, this B&B is a must stay! We hope to return as we visit the Napa area more often! :-)

A truly amazing B&B. Personally, I'm not a fan of typical B&Bs, but this one had service that can put any Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton to shame--without all the corporate formality or rigmarole. They went far out of their way to show every little hospitality and kindness. For instance, we were in the pool when it was happy hour, so they brought us a glass of wine and plate of hand-made nibbles at the pool. They offered to make reservations at a good Italian place for us (Tra Vigne). When we came back to the Inn, there was a bottle of Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc on ice for the guests to share as a nightcap. They are perhaps the most thoughtful innkeepers we've ever encountered. The common area is modern and spotless, the rooms are inviting, the beds are great, and the HVAC has been updated (a good thing during Napa summers). Best of all, the breakfasts are incredible. They brought delicious and artfully presented plates of sausage, fresh juice, poached fruits and thick bread with house-made jam, and a sorbet at the end of the meal. And so started another epic day of wine tasting...

I cannot begin to express in words how phenomenal this B&B is. The grounds are spectacularly and thoughtfully landscaped and you find something unique at every turn. The visual imprint is just stunning. Our hosts Joel and Jim have taken the time to assure that every detail of your stay is addressed. The decor is contemporary, the rooms pristine. The food is the loveliest surprise; expect to be amazed. You'll be served a gourmet three course breakfast with the freshest ingredients, some grown in their own gardens. Refreshments are always available. Coffee, wine, juice, wine, bottled water, wine. Wine morning, noon and night! The staff was friendly and very thorough. Our room was clean before we even finished breakfast. This was by far the most serene and relaxing vacation accommodations we have had. Worth every penny.

We just got back yesterday from Joel and Jim's first class pampering at the Chanric Inn over 6/29-7/2/2013. We went up to Calistoga to enjoy Napa Valley and celebrate my sister's birthday and indulged with the Hot Air Balloon package. From the correspendence during booking, Joel and Jim couln't have been more eager to please and accommodate. From providing dinner recommendations, making reservations for restaurants, bike rentals, wineries, etc., and even offering to do a birthday cake for my sister, they went out of their way to make it a very pleasant and luxurious experience. Joel even gave me his cell phone number so I could call to let him know we were on our way back from dinner so he could light the candles on my sister's birthday cake and pour the complementary champagne to be ready when we walked in. From the champagne welcome on arrival, the Nespresso any time of day, to the fresh coffee outside the bedroom door every morning, the daily chocolates, evening wine and Hor d'Oeuvres, dreamy comfy king beds with fresh linens and fluffy pillows, soft music, the ballet projected on the living room wall in the evenings, water, juice and soda any time of day, and evening champagne on the candle lit patio or by the pool under the stars, including their signature delicious gourmet 3 course brunches served on Wedgewood china...everything about Joel and Jim's service at The Chanric was first class with a smile. We were even stunned when Joel brough up a tray of hors d'Oeuvres and wine with refills to the pool after our couples massages. The whole trip was pure comfort and pleasure!

This is the perfect weekend retreat. Joel is an amazing host. It felt as though all we had to do was show up - he takes care of the rest. They have renovated the building beautifully, and included thoughtful touches throughout our stay (champagne on arrival, evening wine and cheese reception, and champagne when we arrived from dinner in the evening). Breakfast was out of this world. If you appreciate details and and beauty in the little things, the Chanric will not disappoint. A perfect weekend retreat.

The Chanric Inn is one of the best properties, B&B or 5* hotel, that I've ever stayed at. We recently stayed here before our wedding with some of our closest friends, and I cannot describe how wonderful the service was from the moment that we got here until we left. After having spoken with Joel and Jim (the innkeepers) months before about our stay, they were 100% communicative via email in the time leading up to our wonderful experience. They are completely accommodating, kind, friendly, and focused on providing a personalized and welcoming time for guests. From the amazing 3-course gourmet breakfasts (I would actually each evening anticipate the menu for the next day's brunch) to the wine & canape hour in the evenings, to nightly champagne, everything far exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait to be back in Calistoga, as there is nowhere else I'd rather stay and will definitely be coming back. Unlike most B&B's, The Chanric Inn is impeccably decorated, from both its interiors to its adorable patios (complete with cashmere blankets) to the pool area. It's very modern and clean in design, which puts it on a level that not even top hotels can replicate. I could not recommend this place higher. If you are ever in Napa Valley, Calistoga is by far the most quaint and relaxing -- and The Chanric Inn will add to any experience. Highly recommended.

It will be hard to ever match the pampering we experienced these last few days. The Chanric Inn is a treat for all 5 senses. The décor is eclectic, the gardens are stunning. The sounds of water feature and nature, relaxing. The smell of fresh herbs, citrus and lavender filled the air. Until Joel and Jim would prepare their next gourmet brunch when the aroma alone would tease the taste buds.... We could not wait to see what we would be served next. The bedding, linens were luxurious. Champagne, chocolate, wine were flowing. Joel seemed to be a mind reader, every need was anticipated. Exceptional attention to detail, Joel and Jim are gracious hosts. Perhaps the only negative aspect is not wanting to leave the Inn for our scheduled wine tours. We are already planning our next trip to Napa Valley and cannot imagine staying any other place than the Chanric Inn

The Chanric Inn is nothing short of perfect. This is the one place out of my many reviews on Yelp so far that I wish I could give 6 Stars. It was the highlight of our stay in the Napa Valley and we were so happy with our visit that we were thinking about coming back to this place even before checking out. First and foremost, the service and welcome is impeccable. Channing is so good at what he does and you really feel a personal touch. His standard for an inn is top. He gave us great information and insight to the wineries and sights to see around town - and believe me, when you go to this area it can be a little overwhelming to know where to start. Overall, he was great for conversation and was a genuine person that wants you to have a relaxing time. Their cleaning lady is also very nice as we found our room cleaned right when we stopped by at the middle of the day. Which brings me to the room. We got Room 7 which is the downstairs room with a shower/jacuzzi tub and king sized bed. As I said, the look for this inn is stylish, modest and relaxing - and boy were we in love with the room. I think that overall, since we went during a quiet season it was quite peaceful. Complementary biscotti and water is included with the rooms. I LOVED the fact that we had our own bathroom and it was a well thought out and stylish bathroom. The first night I was able to use the jacuzzi function of the bathtub which was heavenly with a nice Cab which Napa is famous for and a great period of time to relax. The bed is probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, so much that we slept through our alarms both days, but of course we did not miss the brunch. The brunch is an additional jewel of this institution making it not just a bed and breakfast but a "bed and WOW three-course classy brunch". Channing serves you breakfast as if he is hosting any respected friend of his and is great about getting drinks. Freshly squeezed orange juice is a great touch to any morning. The ingredients to the dishes were freshed and the flavors well thought out. I wish we could have met Ric but hopefully we will encounter him in our next visit. Complimentary drinks throughout our stay was also a great touch - wine, beer and sodas were available making our return for the night great. Their dog is a sweetheart, who is well-trained to not step into the rooms but if he is out will greet you every time you return to the inn. He was actually the first one out to meet us during check-in. My only regret is that we did not get to try their massage package, a definite must for next time. I don't know if I can say enough about this place honestly. There are some great dining spots in Calistoga that you can hit up - Solbar included which is a short 4 minute drive away. I am so happy with my decision to stay here and I don't really wish to stay anywhere else for future visits to Napa Valley. I am usually not one to splurge on lodging but the experience was worthwhile a million times. I recommend it to any couple who wants a relaxing time in which you are VERY well taken care of.

My husband and I stayed at Chanric Inn for our 1 year anniversary. Joel & Jim are amazing hosts and made us feel so welcomed and cared for. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were surprised with all the attention. We were greeted with champagne and the best toffee on our pillows. I don't want to mention all the special things they do because it is fun to be surprised. The bed was so comfy. I have a tempurpedic cloud mattress at home and I enjoyed the bed at Chanric more than mine. Everything at this inn is top notch, yet comfortable and welcoming. Joel and Jim will make sure you are happy. Breakfast is not usually mine or my husband's favorite meal, but we both loved our meal at Chanric. Along with champagne and cappucinos, we were served several courses of combinations we have never experienced. One of our favorite things was the canteloupe jam. I don't even like canteloupe so I don't know how they made it so yummy. Cleanliness, hospitality, beauty, furnishing, food, pool, spa, and location are all a 5.

Fires on all points. Loved the decor of modern interpretation of historic inn, well blended into the setting. Very gracious hosting by inn keepers who bring their cohesive 'voice' to the total "show" from interiors of public spaces and unique guest rooms to special outdoor spaces to plenty of guest pampering. The champagne and wine flows , they apply creativity into their multi course breakfast/brunch and the the whole experience flows. The rooms are beautifully appointed - the quality and attention to detail is generously present - I'll be back and recommend to friends. One of the best choices for a reliably pleasurable stay in the Calistoga area visit that will make you feel good from start to finish.

Last min getaway plans for a rainy weekend found us at Chanric's doorstep & all I can say here is....WOW is this place awesome! Rooms are very well situated - we had #4. The bed was incredibly comfy & snuggly & I didn't want to get out of it the next morning. Light dimmers on every light were a fab touch & helped gently force us into the new day. Rooms themselves were modern yet plush w/ dark wood furniture, big mirrors & it was super quiet - never heard a peep from our neighbors; wonderfully smelly Neutrogenia bath products! Coffee tray outside our door in the morning was wonderful as I'm definitely the immediate-coffee-infusion-required kind of morning monster ( the BF especially thanks you for this ) Free WiFi! Oh, and PS - Ric is an absolutely *amazing* chef!!! Breakfast consisted of warm, fresh out of the oven Marbleized Poundcake; followed by fresh Fruit Salad in a Syrah Reduction & finishing off w/ Chive-Eggs on a toast of Fontina, Mushroom Tapenade, & Spinach.....yes, *this* girl ate spinach & liked it And their incredibly adorable baby - the most lovable warmhearted Golden Lab you'll ever meet.....seemed to match perfectly w/ his daddy, Ric This was by far the best B&B we have stayed in, for longer than we can remember. We certainly will be coming back!

I posted this review in Tripadvisor. Just days ago. The owners then contacted Tripadvisor and had it taken down under the I actually-never -stayed there clause. Thats absolutely true. I didn't ever stay there. After reading the following, you'll understand why. I made a reservation at Chanic on Sept. 5th for the 5th and 6th of October. Circumstances resulted in my having to cancel the reservation the very next day, ie, 29 days in advance of arrival. I sent an email to Chanric canceling the reservation and didn't hear back from them, so I contacted them again on Sept. 12th. They cancelled it and charged me a cancelation fee of $30. I had hoped this was an error, so I called and spoke with Joel. He refused to give a full refund. Told me their cancelation policy is clearly written on their reservation system (Rezovation) through which I booked the room. I pointed out that not only did I cancel the reservation 24 hours after I made it, but the arrival date was just shy of a month away. Joel's response made it clear that he hasn't the slightest idea what his own policy is. The Chanric Inn's own website under "Terms and Conditions" clearly states that if reservations cancelled or modified up to 14 days (21 days for groups) before date of arrival, a fixed amount of USD 30/night and /room will be charged. If cancelled or modified later 100 percent of the first night(s) will be charged. In case of no-show (11h59pm of the day of check-in) the total amount of the stay will be charged. When I told Joel that if he didn't credit the full amount back to my credit card, I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau, he told me that they wouldn't be pressured nor accept my behavior. (Really--his words!) Errrrrr.....what???? I subsequently called my credit card company and complained. They opened a case and The $30 was reimbursed to me. What a ridiculous hassle. I have since discovered two things: One, Googling Chanric Inn cancelation policy led me to an article written about a similar problem experienced by some other would-be guest. Two, the vast majority of positive reviews of the Chanric Inn were written before these new owners took over mid last year.

Let me start by saying that we are not normally B&B fans. However, our experience this past weekend at the Chanric Inn was absolutely fabulous. Joel and Jim pampered their guests unlike anything I have ever seen. Around every corner there is champagne, chocolates, cold bottled water, ice, snacks............The fresh hot coffee outside your door in the morning was wonderful. The house is beautiful, the decor is fun and hip, the place is spotless. Lastly, the breakfast that Joel and Jim make for the guests is unlike anything i have ever seen. Every course on the breakfast is amazing, from oysters to homemade pastries and bread....it is endless. They grow quite a bit in their garden and if they opened a restaurant i would go daily. This is a can't miss. The hospitality at Chanric Inn unparalleled.

This is is the best B&B my wife and I have stayed at. The attention to detail including the decor inside in the breakfast each morning for unbelievable. We would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

I grew up in Petaluma and currently live in SF, so when I choose a B&B in Napa for a mini getaway, my standards are pretty high. Out of all the places we've stayed over the years I can safely say The Chanric Inn is one of my all time favorites. The service is bar-none the best I've ever received. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, at home and assist with reservations or recommendations on places to see and things to do. The rooms are minimalistic with an upscale modern touch. There's a pool, hot tub and plenty of space to lounge on hot summer afternoons. The best part is the breakfast - having stayed here 3 times in the past year I have come home every time absolutely raving about the well thought out delicious breakfast served at your convenience. If you're like me you like to enjoy a few cocktails and/or wine with dinner and it just so happens Chanric Inn is located just a few blocks from Lincoln Ave (the main street in Calistoga) - so leave the car behind and walk to dinner!

Really happy with the stay here. Comfortable king size bed that didn't make the back ache. Fantastic extras, such as chocolates and cookies and fresh coffee outside the door in the morning. I am a sucker for anything sweet. Then there's a happy hour with wine/cheese/meat, and it's no secret I'm a sucker for anything involving red wine. Then it's dog friendly. OK - now it's a home run. For some reason I just loved how all of us staying there seemed to arrive back at the same time after dinner, and we were greeted at the door. Quiet, comfy, and clean. The bathroom (an upgrade) could use a few updates perhaps (the shower was super dark and the lino a bit grubby), but pretty minor considering the home run they scored in the first paragraph.

We kind of found this place by accident. My fiances cousins were in town from Taiwan and they wanted to see Napa. So we needed a place last minute and wanted to stay somewhere reasonably nice, so we found this place on our Hotel Tonight app. Although it's in Calistoga it's close enough to Napa and many wonderful wineries. We got there a little late, but we were still warmly welcomed. The outside just looked like a very beautiful cozy house and when you walk in it pretty much looks the same, very warm, cozy, clean. We even had our dog with us and they gave her a little bed to sleep on! The bed was SUPER comfortable, and there was no TV (which we loved! No need for TV when youre in such a beautiful place) The bathroom was very modern and clean and it felt like we were in a guest room inside a familys home. We go upstairs and theres a beautiful kitchen and hang out area. When we got back from scouting the town there was a very nice bottle of sparkling wine with a note from the owner saying to please enjoy.. and we sure did! When we woke up in the morning we walked out onto the beautiful patio that had a nice heater and they brought us the most delicious 3 course breakfast! You can tell they spent a lot of time making these dishes and each one was out of this world! We will absolutly be coming back here and I cant wait!

I would give this 10 STARS if possible. First - Overall I dislike B&Bs. Here are some of my loves of Chanric: Ultra Clean. Victorian outside, modern inside. Insane breakfast. Very peaceful and quiet. Ric is and outstanding chef. If you are looking for a quiet, clean, peaceful and wonderful eating experience - go to the Chanric Inn!!

I could not be more ecstatic about my expression of our stay at the Chanric Inn. By far, it was the BEST bed and breakfast experiance I have ever had. The two owners (of which I only had the opportunity of meeting Channing) ran the place incredibly well. The grounds/gardens were beautiful and well kept. The interior was very impressively decorated/orchestrated (vibrant, modern, tasteful, cozy, and welcoming). The bed in our room was sooo comfortable and the restroom was very large (bathtubs had jets!). In the kitchen they provided 24/7 access to a fridge for refreshments (sparkling water, water, flavored water, sodas and I forget what else) and purified water on tap. Chan has such a warm and calming persona. I felt I could talk to him as one would talk to a very old and dear friend. He was also extremely accomadating with his local knowledge and recommenations of wineries, hiking trails, restaurants, etc. ALSO, you are able to schedule a couple's massage (a great surprise for you girlfriend/fiance/wife! :) at the location and Chan or Ric will take care of booking you a masseuse (both of ours were amazing and a huge help for a triathlon recovery massage) I read the other reviews that gave less that 5 stars and I can attest that those "negative comments" are not valid nor acurate. I think those individuals critisizing Chanric Inn sound like they live miserable and over-critical lives. You cannot blame a host for not introducing you to someone at a table you are sitting!!! You can't blame A-frame ceilings for getting in the way of you 7 foot height! And...really, just breathe.... life isn't all that bad. :) The ONLY criticism I am able to give to the Chanric Inn is that they are going to drive out the local Calistoga brunch destinations because their brunch is simply divine. I would never want to go anywhere else for the start of my day in Calistoga :) Four course brunches every morning with freshly squeezed OJ, amazing coffee, and enjoyable conversation with the chef. ;) FANTASTIC romantic desitination!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Chanric Inn for making my life more memorable!

This place is super cute, and as advertised, they have incredible gourmet breakfast. It's also tastefully decorated without the overdone kitsch that curses so many B&Bs. I docked one point for the room. We were accommodated in the downstairs front of the house, which was noisy from the road, people upstairs, and even overnight sprinklers. There was also a faint mildewy smell.

Don't book based on this site. The place is completely different. New owners and the reservation service they use is misleading and deceptive . I don't recommend a place that uses a service completely disconnected from the actual site when you are searching for a more personal and intimate experience. I am very glad to see that you do use yelp, after being told by reservations this site is obsolete and why was I using a discount site? Hopefully the wheat does get separated from the chaff!

Pampered in elegant comfort! We stayed at The Chanric Inn June 29 - July 2 for a relaxing birthday get-away with my sister and her husband in Calistoga. I was so pleasantly surprised by the refined, modern ambiance, gracious hospitality, to-die-for brunch, and value of our Hot Air Balloon Package for Couples. Proprietors Joel and Jim catered to our every whim. On the day of our arrival we were greeted with a champagne tour of the facilities, which are far nicer than the website photos reveal. In our room a hand-written card awaited, wishing me a happy birthday weekend and listed the itinerary for our 60-minute couples massage, dinner, and hot air balloon ride. The massages were heavenly - done just to our liking for our bodies with healing hands. The amazing hot air balloon ride included transportation to and from the Inn and a delicious lunch at the Michelin-rated SolBar Restaurant - no box lunch here! When we were too hot to leave the comfort of the pool at 5:30 PM for wine and appetizers, Joel brought a delicious tray resembling art up to the pool with wine (with linens, glasses, and plates). He also was kind enough to surprise us with a bucket of various chilled waters to the pool another hot afternoon. Besides the outstanding attention to every detail, the accommodations were superb - comfy king size beds, soft fluffy towels and robes, plenty of storage space for our clothes in the closet and dressers, newly remodeled bath and fixtures, delicious assortment of fine chocolates every evening at turn down, and hot coffee/tea service at 7:30 AM outside our room to hold us over until the 8:30 - 10:30 brunch period. The brunch was unbelievable! Freshly diced sweet pineapple marinated in Gran Marnier, salmon bites on a bed of broccoli mouse, sliced cherries with home-made verbena ice cream, and so much more. Many of the dishes incorporated herbs straight from the beautiful, tranquil garden. We enjoyed brunch on the patio each morning and delighted in watching hummingbirds and blue jays bathing in the water fountain. Joel even arranged to have a surprise birthday cake for me when we returned from dinner, fully lit when we arrived "home" on a Wedgwood plate with glasses of champagne at the ready. We couldn't help but dance. We enjoyed Jim and Joel's company during our celebration. When we sadly had to leave, Joel assisted us with luggage, offered us some water for the road and waved us good-bye as he would any good friend. We can't wait to return.

This place was homey elegance. My husband and adult children spent the weekend in Calistoga and we were fortunate enough to land here. The owners, the food, the setting, the view, the jasmine, the front porch, the pool, the peaceful quiet feeling inside......there is a little road noise, but not significant. The breakfast started with fresh local fruit, some French toast cheese concoction, baked apricot dessert bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee service (good coffee not the weak stuff) set outside of your bedroom door in the morning...just stay here. :)

The Chanric Inn is a fantastic gem of a spot in the northern end of the Napa Valley, away from much of the crowds and traffic. Calistoga is a quaint little town about 30 miles north of Napa, but some of the better vineyards in the valley can be found at the northern end. Channing and Ric are wonderful hosts. Personable, polite and attentive they make you feel like friends rather than just paying guests. The brunches are FANTASTIC, you will struggle to eat this well for breakfast anywhere in Calistoga. The pool is great, too -- a nice spot for some relaxation in the afternoon when the sun is beating down (especially if you've had a few glasses of wine). Before I continue let me repeat how good the brunches are -- the fact that these are included in your rate makes Chanric a really good deal. Also included is complimentary wet bar, which means there are always drinks available -- perfect for a late afternoon lunch on the patio with a few glasses of wine. The inn is quiet and well furnished -- there is just enough space to make it feel like it's not crowded, even if every room is taken. Couple nice porches to lounge on day or night, too. Plus, once you meet Denigan their awesome dog, you'll be hooked. We will definately be returning if for nothing else than to try and kidnap their dog (again).

The Chanric Inn is one of the highlights of Napa Valley for my wife and I. We live in the Bay Area and visit Napa a few times a year and we have stayed at no better place than the Chanric. At first you'll notice the decor of the Inn. Unlike many older B&Bs, Chanric is clean, modern, open and has a very relaxing feel to it. The rooms are nicely decorated with bathrooms in most of the units. Channing and Ric are great hosts and enjoyable to converse with. They make you feel right at home. The breakfasts that they make are truly delicious!

Probably the best B&B that I've stayed at hands down across the country. I will definitely be back again and again, and I highly recommend the Chanric Inn to anyone and everyone. Both Chan and Ric were highly accommodating and on top of that, exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The 3-course brunch is stupendous, and the inn has everything you need including a pool and hot tub which is very rare in this region, from what I've seen. They were also helpful in planning our hot air balloon ride and they also suggested an absolutely wonderful restaurant, SolBar, for dinner. You cannot go wrong here. It has all the amenities you can imagine including spa services, which my friend said was the best he ever had (and he has tried many). Don't look any further, as the Chanric Inn is your place!

3.5-- sorry I don't round up... because 4 would mean I'm a fan and I'm just not quite a fan. The mister and I stayed here about a year ago for our anniversary. It was a sweet spot, really tucked away. Nice pool. Channing was very charming. Ric was a great chef. Overall we had a good time because we were together and away from the city the highlight was the in house couples massage. But we can't help but feel there was something missing. They were not exactly as friendly as they were to other guests -- perhaps we're not in the demographic that usually come to places like this... we're young.. and hmm, obviously not... how do I put it. Hm. I don't know. Fill in the blank. We just didn't feel super welcomed.

My husband and I stayed for our first anniversary a few weeks ago, and we were simply blown away. More than generous, they had a bottle of Chandon in the room each night, complimentary wine and cheese(not low quality) each night, an out of this world fixed menu breakfast each morning. Right in the heart of Calistoga, the setting was gorgeous and the temperature perfect. We ordered massages that were given downstairs in the spa room and it was more than we could have asked. Truly, this was the experience we dreamed of for our first anniversary and we will most definitely be returning. Joel has done a fabulous job of keeping the reputation of the Chanric matched with the experience it offers.

We got the King Size room upstairs, and felt the room was quite cramped. The sloped ceilings made me feel so claustrophobic; and when I saw the bathroom I felt like I was in an airplane bathroom. The shower stall is tiny, and there's barely any counter space for my products. The window opens out to the garden which is nice, but we pretty much had to keep the curtains drawn the entire time for privacy. There's no TV, the bath products are Neutrogena. No decoration in the room. The room is very bland. I noticed the carpet in the bedroom was frayed and had lots of stains on it. The breakfast was delicious we had freshly baked breads, polenta with poached egg, and fruit and prosciutto. But I really didn't like the communal dining table. It was awkward since we were never introduced to the other guests by our hosts, and honestly I really didn't want to socialize first thing in the morning. I felt like I had to whisper during breakfast to talk about what we did the night before. But at the same time I felt rude not interacting with people sitting at my table, anyway, it just made me want to eat quickly and get out of there. Imagine living in cramped close quarters with complete strangers who were all couples who wanted privacy. That's how this experience felt. I've stayed at other B&B's before where the hosts are very in tune with their guests, and are able to set up communal areas that offer also offer privacy. (Check out my review for Luxe Calistoga yelp.com/biz/luxe-calist… ) The garden was very pretty, and they do have a pool and a tiny jacuzzi, but since pool wasn't heated we didn't use it. For $20 you can go down the street and use the amazing huge heated pool at Indian Springs. Channing and Ric were both polite , but my interaction with them was very impersonal. Rooms: 2 stars Breakfast: 4 stars Amenities: 3 stars

Slightly delayed but well worth reviewing! The boyfriend and I made reservations here back in December to celebrate our 1 year anniversary/belated Christmas present in late January. We decided to go all out and book a night's stay AND a couple's massage. We were definitely very pleased with our experience here and didn't regret our decision to go all out one bit. I think our only regret was that we didn't stay here longer! Perhaps in the spring or summer we will be back to make use of that great pool/spa they have taking its winter nap in the back. When we arrived into the main common area - I noticed instantly how chic the house was. The fireplace was a nice touch and there were magazines/board games neatly littered throughout the common living room area. It made the place feel more like you rented a vacation home and not like more typical B&Bs where you felt like you were staying at grandma's flowery-wallpapered house. We stayed in the room upstairs right by the fountain. It was a large room and fairly quiet, though we did have a snorer sleeping next door which was easy to ignore thanks to the soothing sounds of the fountain. Our couple's massage was excellent. My massage therapist managed to release the tension in my jaw that had been bothering me for months! I highly recommend their experienced therapists. Their morning brunch was definitely one of the highlights of our stay here. Savory scones, fresh oj, tasty fritattas, and their cute dog sitting by your side. I definitely have to give Chan and Ric major points for making our stay here an enjoyable and memorable one. Personalized service combined with their easygoing and friendly personalities made us feel like we were staying with friends instead of staying with complete strangers. I hope to be back soon!

We stayed at the chanric for 2 nights as part of a week in the bay area. We had decided on the B/B due to the stellar reviews and were not disappointed. Due to financial considerations, we chose the queen room with the bathroom (cheaper than the king), and although it was slightly on the small side it was clean, modern, and very comfy. The bathroom was a bit on the tight side but well stocked and very clean. The overall price was a bit high in general, but probably on the cheaper side for napa. As stated before, the breakfast is arguably the best BB breakfast we have had. It is a 3 course affair that was full of fresh fruit and altered to our dietary requirements. Although some have complained by street noise, we did not find this to be an issue. Calistoga is a bit far from yountville or napa town for dinner, but it makes it a big quieter. Finally, Channing and Ric were very friendly hosts without being too overbearing, and were always there for suggestions. They even contacted us by email 1-2 weeks prior to our visit and by phone a couple days before to confirm and offer tips.

Where do I even start? This is the perfect balance between bed-and-breakfast, and classic inn. The service is personal, very personal, but not ever in a way that is invasive or uncomfortable. The decor is neat, clean, modern. The beds are sooooo comfortable, and the pillow, and the sheets, and ... are you getting the picture? This is not an overblown Victorian smooshy bed and breakfast, where you feel like you're sleeping in your grandma's guest room. This is a clean, tight, decorous, personal yet private inn. But all of that is not why you come to Chanric. You come for the breakfast. Ric is a 5-star chef, and the morning brunch ranks as one of the best meals I've ever had. Blackberry scones, fresh fruit with a syrah-reduction sauce, and a folded egg omelet on crisped toast with mushroom reduction, all covered in truffle oil and chives.. My wife and I just savored it for as long as we could. I booked Chanric because of the yelp reviews, and nothing about them has been exaggerated! This is, without a doubt, the best Inn / bed-and-breakfast experience I've ever had. Thank you, Yelp, thank you, Chanric. We have already booked 3 days for next year!

I loved, loved, loved this place. Chan and Ric know how to make someone feel at home, cook an amazing brunch (and believe me its worth yelping about since most of the brunches in the Napa/St Helena area are pretty damn good), and their place is so inviting. It feels like you are staying over their house and not a B&B. Everything about my three day stay here was perfect. I look forward to coming back and renting out the place.

I just spent a three day weekend at the Chanric, and can very honestly say that it was the most memorable bed and breakfast experience I have ever had. I decided a few months ago that it was well past time to ask my girlfriend if she would be in interested in marrying me. I thought for a few weeks about how the heck I could do something memorable that would surprise her but not involve anything cheesy or overplayed. Then one night at the local wine bar I thought to myself, "self, you like wine, she likes wine, we live close to wine country. Calistoga seemed like a neat town when you drove through it last winter. Self, you are going to ask her at a winery in Calistoga." I boot up the Yelp and up pops the Chanric. I think to myself, "it can't really be that good can it." I brush that aside based on previous Yelp success and book the Romance Package. Ric from the inn calls a few days later and starts asking me about what we would like out of the package and I let him know my big plans to propose. From that point Ric and his partner Chan set in motion what I can only describe as the most awesome customer service experience I have ever experienced. They found us the most amazing winery to have a picnic at and for me to pop the question, told me where to get my picnic supplies, called the winery to let them know what I was up to, and they put out a blanket for us in a secluded private spot with an incredible view. They called and got me reservations at Terra with amazing seats next to the wine racks. They told the restaurant what I had done that day and our desert had congratulations written across it. Making me think to myself, how the heck did they know, oh it must have been the work of Ric and Chan. The Chanric Inn and everyone Ric and Chan worked with at the winery and restaurant made my proposal absolutely incredible. There is no way I could have come even close to pulling something like this off on my own and for that reason I hope to become a long time repeat customer at the Chanric Inn.

I will definitely go back to The Chanric Inn the next time I go to Napa/Sonoma. I would make a special trip just to visit this inn. Our hosts, Joel and Jim, are kind, helpful and friendly people. They pamper each guest with plenty of treats to taste and drink at all hours of the day. The brunch is a several course event with delicious and imaginative dishes made from local ingredients. There are areas to sit and relax indoors and out. Massage therapists are available by appointment, Wifi, and fresh coffee brought up to the room every morning make this experience a delight!

We stayed at the Chanric for two nights (which meant two marvelous breakfasts!) at the end of March on a Napa vacation. About a week ahead of time I'd gotten a call to schedule times and dates for the massage and tastings that came with our "Two Special for Words" package. We arrived after the standard check in time, but everything had been arranged so that a lovely letter with all we needed to know was awaiting us - along with beverages, a cozy fire since the weather outside was drizzly, and our lovely room with soft, luxurious bedding. The decor was crisp and clean, but still welcoming. I don't like ultra-modern, but many of the B&B's I looked like a flower and craft store threw up on them, no such issues at the Chanric. The next morning we met Channing and Ric and their most adorable dog for breakfast. They were so charming and fun. Okay, calling it breakfast feels like an understatement - it was full of delicious tidbits, multiple courses, and creative culinary feats. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, and any allergies or taste preferences were catered to! After breakfast was a massage, much needed after the 7 hour drive of the day before. When we went in to the massage it had just started to hail, by the time we came out the sun had emerged around some puffy clouds with peeks of blue sky around - and that's about how I felt, too! Their masseuses are responsive to your needs and very skilled at what they do. The first winery arranged for us was Envy Wines, definitely a nice choice, but paled in comparison to the second, August Briggs. We would never have discovered the latter without the help of the guys at Chanric, and would have missed one of the little hidden treasures that Napa is famous for. Another delightful rainy night in the best bedding I think I have ever slept on, and another phenomenal breakfast! I was kind of sad to leave the cozy comfort. The only (and I do mean ONLY) potential issue is that since it is an older house the walls are a bit thin and as people move around it can be a bit noisy (our room had a private bath but not all of them did, and we were near the shared bathroom for those rooms). Our room was right under the kitchen, so we did hear the customary noises that a busy kitchen makes early in the morning, but given the delicious results of those thumps and bumps I was okay with a little noise! We cannot stop telling our friends and family to stay here if they are considering a Napa trip! This was a memorable vacation and The Chanric Inn was a large part factor in the refreshing relaxation part of that.

My lovely girlfriend whisked me away for a birthday weekend in wine country and one of our nights was spent at the Chanric Inn. It was my very first B&B experience and I have to say I enjoyed it. The two guys that run the place are very personable and mellow, they made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Its an older house that's been fixed up and they've done a good job with it. Very clean modern decor throughout. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms that had its own bath. The bed was big and comfortable. One minor complaint I might have is that the walls are pretty thin, I felt like I had to tip toe around a bit. That could be my inexperience with B&Bs speaking though, I understand the whole idea is to be in a more personal, intimate setting. For breakfast Ric prepared a veggie frittata, muffins, and fruit. All were very good. The service is quite special here. A lot of thought has gone into what they provide for you. I definitely recommend to this to anyone looking for the B&B experience in the area.

We love this place. We've stayed here twice now, and each time was beyond expectations. Chan and Rick really nailed it when they put this place together -- it is elegant and comfortable. It is cozy and sophisticated -- a hard balance to manage, which they do impeccably. The rooms are beautiful with comfortable beds and wonderful attention to detail -- I do recommend reserving a room with a private bath. That way you can be that much more comfortable. The food is AMAZING. Both Chan and Rick know their way around a kitchen, that's for sure. And well, their scones...legendary. The really great rejuvenating experience that a stay at Chanric is is now even all that much better with the addition of Bobbie, the new masseuse. Truly THE BEST massage I've ever had, with a true professional (she apparently has some high-profile clientele in LA) . While sometimes a hotel that tries to do too much loses something, the addition of Bobbie is an asset, which really makes Chanric even more special. The people really make this place. Chan, Rick and Bobbie are genuinely nice people. Each time we hate leaving and pine about our stay for weeks. And while the people are so great here, the accommodations are really dynamite. I wish I could stay here every weekend! My wife and I promised each other that while we will unreservedly recommend this place to all our family and friends, we will NEVER come here with anyone. This is OUR place. We'd recommend making it yours, too.

First B&B experience up in Napa/Calistoga. Very nice people running the place. It's a lovely house. Breakfast both mornings was really very good (great fresh orange juice) - and even pretty healthy. The coffee was decent (I'm a coffee snob and think they need a Nespresso machine). Fresh banana bread was quite tasty. Our room was a bit cool but still very cozy. Very comfy bed. The shampoo, conditioner & soap were high quality products. Good vibe. We'll probably try a few other B&B's in the area but will definitely circle back and stay again at the Chanric.

Because of Morgan S.'s review of The Chanric, I visited the website and decided to book one night at this modern B&B in Calistoga. The Chanric is a delightfully updated Victorian with modern furniture, great beds (we actually have the same bedroom furniture in our own home), scrumptious food and wonderful owners - namesakes Channing and Ric. They greeted us with the utmost of care and had thoughtfully prepared a gift basket for us - with maps of the Napa Valley, bottles of water, and biscotti. They let us settle in and relax and recommended a few great places for dinner. We ended up eating in the same restaurant and they were so kind and surprised us by treating us to two desserts! The next day we had a beautifully presented and delicious 3 course breakfast - prepared when we were ready for it. Check the website for details on the menu for the day. Ric went to culinary school in Seattle and it really shows. We had divine poached eggs with ratatouille, homemade pear bread (soooo good!) and a pineapple and papaya cold soup to start. Refreshing and delicious. The only downsides were the thin walls, and the fact that we had to share the downstairs bathroom. Other rooms have their own private baths though, and the bustling of other people was the only noise that we endured. Other than that, we slept soundly and had the most wonderful stay.

Ooooooooh, wow. Honestly, this is the best place I've ever stayed on vacation. I've always liked the idea of a Bed and Breakfast - small, unique lodging, and you get breakfast, which you never want to deal with while on vacation. What I've never understood is how this seemingly perfect idea always turns into Laura Ashley bedspreads and forced mingling. I have tried in the past (and typically failed) to find a B&B that succeeds in execution as well as it does in theory. This place gets the idea exactly right - impeccable, modern decor, an unbelievable three-course breakfast, personal attention from the owners, and best of all, no unwanted socialization. I've been dreaming about the scones and recommending this place to every one I know since I got back. I can't wait to visit again.

In a word, the Chanric Inn is WONDERFUL! My husband and I recently stayed here for 3 nights, along with my aunt and uncle. This was without a doubt the most amazing stay at a B&B we have had. We checked in the evening of July 4th. There was wine, champagne, and chocolates waiting for us. In our beautiful room, with a very comfortable king size bed, we found toffees and macaroons. The three course breakfast with champagne was delicious! Joel, the owner was so friendly and helpful! He attended to absolutely every detail. Complimentary beverages, espressos, and teas were available at any time. They also had coffee and tea right outside our bedroom every morning. The evening hors d'oeuvres and wine were so nice at the end of the day. We also enjoyed a massage during our stay. It was one of the best massages I have had! The inn is so beautiful, complete with a lovely pool and jacuzzi, and organic garden. I cannot wait to come back!

Going to Napa and need a place to stay? Look no further. This beautiful Bed & Breakfast blows any hotel away. And I promise you will not be attacked by doilies! This beautiful Victorian has a very modern look. Perfect for a romantic get away in the mountains. And the breakfast is fit to be served in a 5-start restaurant! But what really makes this place special is Channing and Ric. They're both so nice and have put all the finishing touches into this place that make it such a wonderful experience. I wish I could have stayed longer than one night. And go check out the website! My buddy Niles did all the pictures!

The Chanric Inn is an adorable place to stay about half a mile from downtown Calistoga. Our room was simple and modern, always clean with a spacious bathroom and a huge comfy bed. The inn had a really cute patio outside, unfortunately, it rained the whole time so we weren't able to sit out there. Channing and Ric, the owners, were incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. They make you feel right at home. Ric called me before we got there to see if we wanted them to book any reservations for dinner, and they always made sure breakfast was to our liking. Speaking of, in the morning, they cooked a DELICIOUS three-course breakfast. The apricot scones were incredible. I wish we had stayed longer than two nights so we could eat more of their food! Before breakfast, they leave a tray of tea and coffee ouside your room, which is a great way to wake up. My boyfriend and I got a couples massage while we were there which was so relaxing. The only issue we had was the road between the inn and downtown was not that pedestrian friendly, so even though it was only half a mile, we couldn't really walk into town. But the drive was so short it didnt really matter. All in all, it was a really great experience and I will definitely stay there next time I'm in Calistoga.

We had a great stay - the food was absolutely amazing and definitely the right way to start a day of wine tasting. Channing was super friendly and Ric was an EXCELLENT chef. It is in a great location just near downtown Calistoga and the rooms are very nice with comfortable beds. Channing was more than happy to help with dinner recommendations and we loved his Calistoga choice, Jole, in the Mount View Hotel. Not to mention, there is a great pool to relax in post-winery hopping. Definitely recommend to others headed to Calistoga.

YES! YES! YES! This pretty much describes my feelings about the Chanric...and what you'll be screaming if you take your Significant Other here. The Chanric is an absolutely *adorably* appointed little Victorian with a pool, outdoor hot tub, plenty of lovely, private outdoor seating, nicely firm beds with high thread-count sheets, your own private jacuzzi tub (yes, in addition to the hot tub) and high-volume shower. You'll get your own water and biscotti (and the biscotti is GOOD, I normally hate biscotti) and a bunch of guides to the area. I was already a fan of the place after we waltzed in late Friday night and found a note for us with a complimentary wet bar (with beers in the fridge and a bottle of pinot!) and went to our room...but the next morning sealed the deal as we were greeted by the charming Channing & Ric (all done up in his chef outfit) and served an incredible, fresh, custom multi-course brunch outside in the sun while we read the New York Times, sipped coffee, and drank home-squeezed orange juice. Incredible. The principal difficulty with a weekend based out of the Chanric is that you may lack the willpower to actually leave the premises. So keep that in mind in your weekend planning. :)

This is my favorite bed and breakfast in the Napa Valley; I've stayed twice in the last year and a half. The decor is clean-lined modern, simple and elegant, sort of like a tiny boutique hotel was transported to the country. I must mention the breakfasts. They are simply spectacular. The best I have ever had at a bed and breakfast. It's the hosts who truly make the experience special though. Rick and Chan are wonderful hosts, making you feel welcome, offering great suggestions and creating a general vibe that makes you not want to leave.

An excellent recommendation from friends. This is a charming little b&b. It is clean and elegant. Rick and Channing are thoughtful, caring, and have a great sense of humor. The breakfast is 5 star. What a gemstone this place is. I highly recommend it - especially for people who enjoy boutique hotels or high end b&bs.

One of my favorite places that I've ever stayed. I came here in September with a friend and vowed to come back on my own in the winter for some down time. Chan and Ric are wonderful. I feel like I'm staying with family. Chan gave me suggestions for where to eat on my own and where to go running and hiking. He's very knowledgeable about the area and pointed me in the right direction. He also helped me book my massage --it was amazing. The inn itself has a lot of character but with modern touches too. I just love the feel of the place. Dog is adorable and sweet, but very well behaved. Breakfasts are out of this world--honestly, I'm already planning my next trip!!! You'll love it here. Oh--and Calistoga itself is the hidden gem of Wine Country. Most people stay in the lower portion of wine country--but it's absolutely gorgeous up here. All restaurants are top notch and the wineries are all very welcoming--you don't see the crazy crowds down in Napa.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chanric. We stayed there at the end of our Napa Valley week and wished we would have stayed longer. The breakfast/brunch was wonderful, and we especially like the cofffee pot left out side our rooms in the morning(The smell was amazing). The Owners attention to detail was spectacular, and the view from the front porch was very relaxing. It was also the best Cappucino I"ve ever had. The new Owneres have plans to do renovations in the near future, It will turn this 5 star B&B into a 6 star.

I had such a great stay at the Chanric Inn! It is a charming and well kept Bed and Breakfast. Rick, Chan and Dinnegan were great hosts to me and my dog. I was worried staying at a "romantic" type place without my husband (he had to work), but had a FANTASTIC TIME! Great referrals from Rick and Chan on what to do and where to go. I still dream about the fantastic breakfasts! yummy! Contemporary rooms . . aka does not look, feel or smell like your grandma's house. Great Massages too!

We just returned from our second visit to the Chanric. We first came here in 2008 for our first weekend away together, and this time we got engaged! Channing and Ric were very helpful when it came to making the arrangements for the surprise engagement. They arranged an appointment at a beautiful winery where my fiance arranged a picnic and proposed! It was really the perfect location! Afterward, Channing was great at arranging a cab at the last minute for our special dinner at Meadowood. He even called the restaurant to share the news, so they treated us with plenty of champagne! We were congratulated in the morning with a special mimosa and a great breakfast! Both stays at the Chanric were excellent. There are no floral patterns, heart-shaped baths, or lace curtains at this place (thank God). Instead, Channing and Ric have equipped the space with simple, elegant, and sophisticated decor. Everything here is top-notch from the delicious three-course breakfast, to the decor, to the hospitality. We will plan on returning for many special occasions. Overall, this place is a great find!!!

My Fiance missed our flight to Honduras and couldn't get another for two weeks! We decided last minute to take advantage of the gift certificate we had for The Chanric Inn and it couldn't have been a better decision. Their customer service is five star. We had a couples massage from two of their recommended masseuses (Rick and Riya) who were both fantastic. My fiance and I both have sports related injuries that they were very knowledgeable about. Rick recommended and made reservations for us at Jole restaurant... I should probably do another review for them because their food was some of the best I've had. We went back home took a late night hot tub and played one of their board games. The next morning there was coffee and tea at our door and a four course gourmet brunch ready for us down stairs. I have to say if anything good came out of missing our flight to Honduras it was getting the chance to blow off some steam at The Chanric Inn.

The Chanric Inn is amazing! My Fiancé and I stayed for 3 nights in May and loved every second of it. Chan and Ric are truly great hosts and great people. They arranged for me to have a private picnic at a vineyard they recommended where I could propose to my girlfriend. Everything went super smooth and couldn't have been done any better. The grounds and house are very well maintained and have a wonderful ambiance. Chan's famous brunch's were out of this world. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this classy, cozy, beautiful place to anyone looking to get away for a relaxing and special time. I will definitely go back!

I highly recommend the ChanRic Inn if you're seeking attention to detail, extreme comfort, and a brunch that you'll never forget. In the 16 years that my husband and I have been coming to Calistoga for our overnights, we have never we felt so comfortable in an Inn before! Chan & Ric go above and beyond to ensure that guests are not just accomodated, but cared for. Chan & Ric are the delightful hosts, & have done a grand job of keeping the decor modern, fresh, & crisp. You'll feel like you're at home. Our room was well kept, extremely clean, & very quiet! The bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get out of it. When I finally did get out of it, there was coffee just outside the door (and good coffee too!). Ric made a gourmet brunch that is the best brunch I've had in the wine country! They grow their own herbs, and have a lovely garden area. And bless Chan's heart when I panicked over a bee situation (I'm calm till the bastards decide to use my eye as a flower), he smiled, and made even more accomodation to get my husband and I inside pronto & never laughed (thank you). The meal was absolutely scrumptious. I'm already checking my calendar for a return visit to this little gem, in the wine country. I say book it Danno!

This October, my wife and I spent a week at the Chanric Inn for our honeymoon. It was the perfect venue for our romantic getaway, the grounds and rooms are beautiful and all the extras like the open bar, the amazing breakfasts, and the beautiful pool combined make the week even more special. Channing and Ric were gracious hosts and were spot on with their suggestions ranging from wineries to restaurants to day hiking spots. They maintained an ideal balance of being friendly and available while giving us plenty of space to enjoy our time together. The house is in a beautiful spot and within reasonable walking distance of downtown Calistoga. We were very happy with our decision to stay in this part of the valley since the wineries are less commercial and the traffic is light. The restaurants in Calistoga, especially Bar Vino, were fantastic as well. Bottom line - don't hesitate to go to the Chanric and stay as long as you can!

Chan and Ric (the owners) are so helpful! Ric is an amazing chef (breakfast was fabulous) and Chan was more than helpful with spa and running tips. They also gave us great ideas for wineries to visit. Our room was cozy with a modern flare. Very cool decor in the living room and dining room areas. Great location. Overall a fabulous spot! We will definitely go back soon.

    I. Love. This. Place. Charming combination of contemporary and homey, perfectly located in a beautiful town exactly where you want to be in wine country. Personal, meticulous hosts with a wonderful eye for detail, simple artistry at breakfast, a sixth sense about casual luxury and super connected with all the other best spots around. I sure hope to get back to this gem someday!

this place is AMAZING!!!! We are hotel owners and this is where we go to relax. They get it! No detail left undone. The breakfast is simply incredible. Ric is an amazing chef. Three courses, flawlessly executed. I can't think of a better way to wake up. Both Ric and Chan are the most gracious hosts an they will totally hook you up with the perfect way to spend your day/s in Calistoga and beyond. If you want to treat yourselves, this is the place to go. Incredibly reasonable prices and such great value!!! We will be regulars! Love it!!!!

The Chanric Inn is very clean and well maintained. Channing and Ric were very friendly and helpful and they made us feel welcome. We stayed in bedroom #4 on the top floor and we didn't have any problems with noise. There are four bedrooms on the top floor and they all looked similar in decor (modern yet comfortable). Breakfast was wonderful and we would definitely consider staying here again.

The owners work diligently to create and sustain a fantastic and inviting environment. We appreciated the very clean and welcoming private and common rooms, the well-stocked wine and beverage fridge, and an AMAZING brunch. Treat yourself or bring a big group and fill up all 7 rooms. You'll have a grand time.

We were here many months ago and dreary February is making me dream of going back! The rooms were bright, classic and clean, with giant comfy beds. Then breakfast oooh boy was it good. Fresh and tasty dishes I wish I could emulate at home. The guys also had great suggestions for things to do other than eat/drink/eat/drink (they also had great suggestions for places to do that as well). And seriously, dogs rule!

Had an excellent stay at the Chanric. We spent the night in room #3 (according to the key chain) which faces the rear of the house with a view of the pool and fountain. The room was nicely appointed although it only has a shower (large enough for one guest). Finally, and most importantly, the food at the Chanric is much better than you'll find at most places, regardless of size. I'm looking forward to staying here again.

Took a chance with a B&B for our honey moon. Turned out we hit the jack pot! Loved the room, loved the cooking, loved the hosts...including the dog! We ate at all the "must try" restaurants, but really just looked forward to coming back home for breakfast! Chan and Ric went above and beyond to make sure our days were filled with fun or relaxation. They get it! I'll not hear the end of fresh peach baked French toast with cream cheese dollops. Ric, please save my new marriage and send me the recipe! Jillena & Marcos

My boyfriend and I visited the Chanric Inn in March for my birthday. We stayed two nights/three days and went w one of their packages which included two massages. It is charming while still being modern in decor. Right up our alley! We really loved the idea that we could bring our small dog with us too as the b&b is pet friendly. He even had a friend to play with as the inn owners have a lab. The room we stayed in was spacious, very clean and we had a nice, large bathroom adjoined to the room. Not always the case with b&b's. The breakfast in the morning was DELICIOUS! Ric sure knows his way around the kitchen. Not your run of the mill continental breakfast just thrown out there type food. A selection of fine wine, soda and water options was always on hand too. They also have board games if you so wish. We were generally spent from the day of wine tasting and the very comfy beds were hard to leave. We went very early spring so not everything was in bloom but you could tell from their charming landscape and patio area that this place really sparkles inside and out.Their location is very close to down town Calistoga which offers some small boutiques and dining options but you may want to drive as their are no sidewalks on the busy highway. The only small detail I would have personally liked to have seen was a flatscreen tv in the rooms. We were unaware that there was none. Going to wine country isn't about TV, laptops and cell phones and more about pure relaxation but in the morning when getting ready and at night right before bed it would have been nice to have a small tv in the room to view. Speaking of relaxation, we each had a fabulous massage in their seperate massage room. Ric and Channing are wonderful people and so helpful and sweet! Overall we really enjoyed our stay, we were made to feel at home and our bellies were always full with wonderful things! The Chanric Inn is a very lovely and relaxing environment!

This place is amazing! I would highly recommend it to anyone. Ric and Channing are so sweet and accommodating, the location is great (close to downtown) and amenties and food make this place a really great value! The brunch (included in the price of the room) was AMAZING....a comparable meal for two people in San Francisco would probably run $50....Don't miss out on this place!

My husband and I stayed in this quaint b&b for two nights while visiting Napa. After reading such great reviews of the place, we were very excited to be staying here. It did not disappoint. The breakfasts were simply amazing. You can not get a better breakfast anywhere. Everything was super fresh and delicious! Our room was on the main level and it was a queen sized room. The bed was super plush and comfy and the size of the room was perfect. Our bathroom was not attached to the room but just a short walk away at the end of the hall. My only complaint would be the bathroom would get REALLY cold, especially at nights, so we would have to bundle up in our robes just to go in there! The entire inn has a very nice modern decor while still feeling very quaint and cozy. The pool is an extra perk. We will definitely be recommending the Chanric to our friends and family and hope to visit again soon!

Hard to say enough good about the Chanric. Rick and Chan ("Chan-Ric" - get it) do a terrific job and the Inn itself is lovely. The decor is more modern than most B&Bs (style is more Ian Schrager than French Country) and it works. Service and food are both superb. Chan and Rick are great, creative cooks and take a real interest in guest's happiness. Wine and snacks are always available and it was a thrill to be someplace where the bottles of water in the room are free ;-) The Inn has a nice pool and outdoor hot tub is located a short walk up the highway from downtown Calistoga - close enough to walk but far enough to feel like you are out of town. All in all - a nice place...

I've now stayed at the Chanric a few times, and always have a wonderful, relaxing time. Ric and Channing, the charming proprietors, have always welcomed me like an old friend -- they both truly understand hospitality at its finest. The beds are outstandingly comfy, the rooms stylishly appointed, and the grounds impeccably charming. And then, the food -- perfection. I took pictures of each of the dishes gracefully laid out before me so I could remember, at least visually, what it's like to awaken to a perfectly prepared gourmet breakfast. The coffee/tea trays silently placed outside our room was a true joy to discover on the first morning -- I took my first dose of rich caffeine back into the comfy bed with me. The staff at the Chanric always goes above and beyond to ensure visitors know where to go in town, and around. I cannot wait for my next visit!

Where do I begin? Our stay was so amazing, I fear my words would only cheapen the amazing experience Ben and I had! But alas, I will try, in the hopes that many more will venture out to the most beautiful and relaxing Inn, EVER! First and foremost, you will never meet two people as wonderful as Ric and Channing. After about two minutes at the Chanric, we felt like we were visiting family (cousins, maybe ;) ). Ric can do anything with an egg, seriously. His scones are to die for! Ah, but Ric isn't the only one at the Inn that can tear it up in the kitchen. We were lucky enough to have a yummy asparagus omelet prepared by Channing! Not only was it AWESOME but we had a fun time gabbing while he was prepping. They also had fabulous recommendations of things to do! So enough gushing about them, I guess you are most interested in the Inn, itself. The house is a beautiful Victorian that has a hip decor. This is not your Grandmother's Inn. With cool lounge music playing throughout the house background, cool colors like Benjamin Moore Avocado, swanky leather couch and lounge chairs, hip magazines, this place is pretty much the W Hotel meets the 1800s! The beds are super comfy! The grounds are gorgeous. Eating breakfast in the courtyard with the sound of the fountain was so tranquil! We hit the hot tub at night and had great view of the stars. One last thing, Taylor! Taylor is their yellow lab. He is lovely. He is around if you want him but otherwise is quite good at keep a low profile. So, if dogs are your thing, he'll keep you company! If not, you won't even know he is there! Our stay at the Chanric was one of the best stays we have ever had. We will return time and time again!
