Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Quick service and good food. I love the Taco Tuesday crispy chicken tacos! The staff is very nice!

Honestly, I hate Mexican food! So why did I come here? Well everything seemed to big of a portion to eat since I wasn't that hungry so I decided I give this place a try. Place is quite clean and everything looks freshly made. They didn't astound me with their customer service. Personally, I really dislike it when people are at the register and they talk to other people. But I guess it was something important or they had to clarify something. I paid $7 for shrimp and fish taco with a drink. Mmmm kinda pricey for my taste but I dealt with it. You know, I thought like all fish tacos tasted the same but you can tell which is great fish taco, an okay fish taco and a bad one. This was just okay. They did put a few condiments on there but it didn't quite make my taste buds. The shrimp taco was a bit tastier and I actually did enjoy it. They are pretty generous with the shrimp. Seems like it was one of those off days. Felt kinda bad but the cookers and staff handled all the situations pretty well so props to them. Said they offer free wifi but it wasn't working at the time so that was kind of a bust. They have plenty of seating inside and out. Definitely won't be a regular here but I wouldn't mind stopping by every blue moon if I'm not feeling burgers, chicken or pizza.

Went here last night for Taco Tuesday and boy, I experienced one of the worst dining experiences ever in the history of dining. My friend ordered twelve tacos and beer and I ordered guacamole and chips and sat down with our wives and our kids. First off, when you order the guac and chips or chips and salsa, you need to give those out right away. I didn't receive my order and I had to ask the cashier to give me my order. I had to wait 30 mins for 12 tacos while other people way after me were receiving their orders left and right. I tried to be as patient as possible but after 30mins with my kids crying out that they were hungry, I had to ask the cashier what was taking so long. Apparently, the cooks and the waitress/cashier had miscommunication and it took me to ask them repeatedly where my order was for them to get their act straight. It only took 5mins to prep my order and even when that was done, the waitress could not locate where I was. I'm not sure why that was difficult because I was right in front of her and my group were the only Asians in the restaurant. I mean she went outside looking for me and couldn't find me until I got up and flagged her down. After I received the order, there was no "I'm sorry your order took so long" or the fact the staff was unapologetic as I had to wait over 30mins to get food. So I asked the cashier for the corporate card and told her I will call Management to let them know this was the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant... EVER. Was a shame cause I used to like this place but I guess they must've "jumped the shark" recently in terms of quality of food and service...

I've been to the anaheim location quite a few times, but it was my first time to the brea one. I thought it was just okay. The salsas could use a revamp, but I do have to say it was fresh and light. I didn't feel heavy after eating it because it wasn't oily. Not sure if I would go back though. The free chips are a plus.
(3)Lindsay N.
Nachos are always a good choice and so are the soft taco plate with rice and beans. Yummy and everything you expect. The salsa is my all time favorite. It's is smooth but with chucks of onion and tomato is so yummy!
(5)Kimmy T.
Food was ok but a little too salty. Durango's down the street is way better for Mexican food. Service was friendly though.
(3)Alex R.
I love Fresca's! I eat here 3-4 times per week. Staff is great, and because I'm such a loyal customer gave me a 20% off lunch card I can use whenever. Right now I'm loving the California burrito (no cheese), but the chicken tostada suprema for six bucks might be the best (and most nutritious for the money) deal in town.
(5)Julie L.
My first impression was, "Everyone say it with me, crispy chicken taco Tuesdays!" It's like a dorado on blast with a crispy shell on the outside, crispy chicken filling on the inside, loaded with vegetables, and spicy charred sauce. It's your 99cent Taco Tuesday guilty pleasure with a side of chips and fresh guacamole. Can your Tuesdays get any better? It's on Birch St. and it gets pretty packed, but there's plenty of outdoor seating permitting the weather. I love their taco shells and chips, they're baked so perfectly. It's nice to be able to just drop by for a quick meal. Service is always good, and the plus is that Tuesday nights there's a Farmer's Market just right outside the door (4-8pm) so it's worth checking it out. Tacos and Farmer's Market = perfect mid-week delight. The lasting impression? "Don't forget the salsa bar, especially the pickled carrots."

Our favorite local go to spot for quick Mexican Food. Food is always pretty quick and delicious. Nice to enjoy the patio with your favorite beer
(4)Paul A.
My gf chose this place because we were going to the movies with her daughter. The line didn't move for like ten minutes as the only person working the registers took a phone order.... Seriously... Two cooks Two register workers in yellow shirts. The second guy was clueless, this type of bad customer service drives me crazy.
(2)Samuel K.
Was super hungry but short on time last Saturday night(had to get in line for Hunger Games 2) so it was either Bruxie, Flame Broiler or here. Unfortunately, Bruxie had a super long line so we didn't feel like Flame Broiler so we came here. The place was pretty packed. Could've been cleaner. I was debating between the taquitos or steak fajitas but decided on the fajitas. Super cheap at $7.50. They also gave me tortilla chips which was cool. They have a decent selection of salsa and extras. After a few minutes, they brought out my plate with a pretty decent serving of steak and fajita vegetables along with rice, beans and 3 flour tortillas. The fajitas were pretty good and I left feeling full and satisfied.

Decent Mexican food in a good location. I did think they their salsa bar was way above par. Pickled carrots were quite fresh and the pico de gallo was good. Try the Wet Burrito- I had it with chicken and it was pretty good. My wife had the Taco and Tamale Combo and the Tamale was bomb.
(3)Will T.
Really yummy and fresh tasting chicken tacos for 99 cents on tuesdays! YUMMMMMM! I can't wait til spring til they open the farmers market again. Great location, great price, great deal! Service is really good, I came in 5 minutes before closing time but they still served me without rushing my food. Props to your workers!
(5)D D.
The counter girl wasn't too bright. Told my girlfriend what she was ordering was on the kids menu and came with a drink then said she couldn't sell her it because she wasn't 12. The foods is pretty good just both the brightest employees.
(3)Emily N.
Taco Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chicken tacos are soooo cheap and good!!!!! The salsa bar is really good too, I get the pico and fuego salsa. And anywhere with a bunch of cilantro is going to be good in my book! Someday I'll try other items but for now taco Tuesday is what it's all about!!!
(5)Kevin S.
Taco Tuesdays are such a good deal here. 99c chicken tacos, say what??! The tacos themselves were relatively fresh tasting also, albeit with a shell that was slightly too greasy for me. They also offered $6.95 pitchers.... could definitely see myself bumming over here for some booze and tacos in the future! More importantly is their Mon-Fri 'happy hour' pricing which I think was from 3PM to close. Half off all items on the "appetizer" menu which had nachoes, quesadilla, and taquitos. The tacqitos were super tasty!
(4)Agi L.
I love this place. Their chips is always fresh and crunchy. I usually order the chicken taco and cheese enchilada combo with rice and beans. Everything is fresh and tasty, i give them *****.
(5)Kendra C.
I had to grab a quick bite before a movie and was craving a burrito. Basically, I paid $5 for something the size of a taco bell burrito. The cheese wasn't melted and there was waaaauy too much tortilla and not enough anything else. 2 stars because they're salsa was okay.
(2)Terry C.
5 starts on Tuesday.!!!!!! 1 star every other day. Don't even come here unless it's Tuesday. The .99 cent chicken taco on Tuesday is the best. Fresh and cheap. Everything is pretty terrible
(5)Kristy B.
My boss and I order lunch from here frequently. She always gets the taco/enchilada combination plate with extra cheese, and she says it's her favorite of all the Mexican places that she eats from. I always get the chicken with avocado salad, and the grilled chicken is done just right! I toss in a bunch of their really good pickled carrots and jalapeos, and then I smother it in their super fresh salsa. Fresca's is always crowded for lunch, so I'm glad that we can just call it in, and then pick it up.
(5)P T.
I give 3 stars because I like the food ok. Except for the fish tacos. Undercooked and totally flavorless. Rather than wait in line to mention that they were undercooked, I got the attention of a manager, who told me I would have to wait in line. Ok. When it was my turn, I told the cashier about the undercooked fish tacos. He took the plate, and called over to the cook to make a couple of chicken tacos that I had requested instead. The manager couldn't have done that? She saw me standing, holding my plate.
(3)Corwyn A.
I gave this place four stars for reasons I'll go into detail in a moment. A couple friends and I decided to go to for a quick lunch in the area. We were going to grab and go but the service was friendly and inviting. The space and lack of afternoon rush made us stay and get out of the heat. I like that we could have called in and picked up our order. Very convenient. I'll probably do that next time I'm pressed for time.
(4)Margarette C.
The food is tasty, the staff friendly, but I wish they got our order correct. We got take out so did not notice until we were home. I ordered steak taquitos & got chicken; my hubby ordered black beans & got pinto...nothing horrible, just not what we ordered. The service was quick though!
(3)Ra K.
This place is a casual Americanized Mexican place! I've tried better mexican food but this place is pretty good for what you'll be paying for! Overall pretty cool place to eat and chill! :)
(4)Tyler L.
Taco tuesday! All I get are these tacos along with a bunch of stuff from the sauce bar. Each salsa is delicious and fresh. I especially like the carrots from the sauce bar. For a dollar per taco, you can't go wrong here. It's a good cheap eat. It might not be the most authentic tasting, but its not exactly super Americanized either. Will be coming here for more Tuesday nights to come.
(4)Jacqueline A.
Not a bad mexican spot... If you have ever tried an AUTHENTIC Mexican Restaurant you do know its not the same taste but it could just do the job. I had the bean & rice veggie burrito. The way the plate looked was great, greens, beans, rice & cream...filled me up =]
(4)Thuy L.
The food here is pretty good. I ordered the Killer B Burrito with no beans with chicken for lunch togo. Luckily I called ahead because it was a bit busy. The place is very clean and customer service was very friendly. I actually got a free side of chips with my order! The salad bar was fully stocked and decently clean. The burrito was delicious. The chicken wasn't dry but I felt like I had more rice then meat on this burrito but luckily I like rice. Also the size was pretty decent. I shared half of it with my co-worker. Wouldn't mind going here again when I crave for Mexican food.
(4)Brandon M.
Fresca's is a pretty legit place. They have an excellent taco Tuesday deal for some decent tacos! Customer service is perfect, prices are decent for the rest of their menu, and its an overall welcoming atmosphere. I am a member or Renegade Ryders, and while we don't claim "territory", we like to refer to this place as our eating spot (most of our members get major cravings for their food). Thusly, you will find random members eating here periodically throughout the week. If you are in Brea and want to try something a little different, give Fresca's a try. Its probably the best little restaurant on the entire Birch St food strip...
(5)Katherine O.
Taco Tuesday! They had crispy chicken tacos for $0.99, with actual fried taco shells. I love those things. I ordered 2 and kind of wish I'd only ordered 1 because they are full size tacos. Their salsa bar was pretty good too.
(4)Cortney c.
If you're looking for good authentic tacos DONT EAT HERE! I was in downtown brea for the farmers market and decided to try a new place for tacos and this place had decent reviews. Menu was simple and easy to read. Prices were decent. Food was AWFUL. Chips had a funky taste to them. Rice was unflavorful The steak tacos were very bland and I had to take off one tortilla because all you could taste was corn tortilla. Plus it wasnt very pleasing for them to get my order wrong laugh about it and then slowly remake it while drinking beer behind the counter. NEVER AGAIN
(1)Joanna M.
Whenever I eat at Fresca's, they are warm and friendly, and the food tastes great. They have enough variety on their menu and they even serve breakfast (!) and have "Taco Tuesday". Sometimes they have taken somewhat long to receive food, but honestly, that is not a frequent thing. Parking is limited, based on location (Birch Promenade area). Overall, a nice place to eat Mexican food!
(5)Rho L.
Oftentimes, when my coworkys tackle the lunch debate and decide on frescas, the only reason I acquiesce to come alog is cause of the handful of other eateries I can pick up lunch from. As much as everyone likes it here, I just have never been a big fan. There's nothing I find particularly appalling so it isn't cause they serve shitty food. I think for me, when I want mexican food, there are a chockful of other places that I'd rather go to instead. I think their food is just blanched out and caters moreso to non-hispanic tastes. Nothing wrong with that either, just not my cup of tea.
(2)Kimberly S.
I love this place. This is the second time we have come here. We learned about this place after it catered one of our friends birthday party.
(5)Caesar P.
Great tasting tacos. As much as I love taco Tuesday I avoid it... too busy for me
(5)M P.
Easily one of my favorite local mexican spots of all time. Its all about the food (as it should be), and its really hard to find better traditional mexican food anywhere. Although I would consider this a part of the faster food chain, its restaurant level quality. Always fresh, we have been coming here almost daily for years, and rarely do we have a bad meal (it happens, but its rare). Highly recommend for a sit down lunch or casual dinner. If your into great+hot salsa go for the Fuego, a roasted habanero base salsa :) ummm!!! Favorites: Fish Tacos / Chicken Nachos / #12 :D / Enchiladas / Taco Tuesday
(5)Jerrold S.
This is the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. It was just all around bad. I threw away my fish tacos. They were like frozen fish sticks cut up and thrown into a taco. The crema was like thick milk. The veggies were wilted. The salsa bar was kinda pathetic. Seriously hate to write a review like this but I could never come back here.
(1)Kris C.
TACO TUESDAY !!! Dollar Tacos, $1.95 Tap Beers!! $6.50 Pitchers !! BOMB CHICKEN TACOS, and their salsa bar is SOOOO GOOD. Go for the very hot salsa, its not even that hot but so delicious !! Recommended 100% OH and they have farmers market too !! beautiful oc girls everywhere ;] love em!
(5)Scott K.
Great salsa, inexpensive tasty food
(4)Jeanette Y.
Close to work and its not bad. But today when I ask them to give me a tortilla and I'll pay for it, the chef guy who I'm not sure if he actually speaks English or not told me its $1.50 for a tortilla. Seriously? A dollar and fifty cents for that?
(3)Anthony H.
Stay away, I think this place is terrible! If you want "Americanized" Mexican food then go to Baja Fresh, La Salsa or Rubio's; they all blow this place away. Whoever wrote the good reviews must be gastronomically inexperienced and/or a little out of it (drunk?). They would probably think that Taco Bell and Del Taco serve gourmet food. The best thing here was the chips and salsa. The rice is blah, and it has corn and carrot cubes--WTH? The fish tacos had really small pieces of fish that were completely tasteless, the carne asada was not much better. What a disappointment!!! This may be the worst place to eat in all of the downtown Brea area.
(1)Alexander T.
Went to their website and ordered online, no payment necessary, got there 10 min after I placed my order and it was ready! Excellent service and good, affordable food. I will definitely be returning for taco tuesday!
(4)Kumi K.
Not the best Mexican restaurant around but I'm fond of this place for following: Taco Tuesday! C'mon, who can't appreciate 99cents chicken taco? Grilled fish tacos. I very much prefer the light and fresh flavor of grilled fish as oppose to the battered and deep-fried fish.
(3)Karen C.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say is GUACAMOLE GUACAMOLE GUACAMOLE!!!! They have the best i have ever had in my life! Non authentic mexican food but WAY better then anything else. Similar to Baja Fresh. They have THEE BEST Salsa ever! I got the Burrito with Fundido sauce which is a creamy cheese jalapeno sauce, to die for! Also their fish tacos are awesome! The food taste fresh and is a decent price. After eating here I saw they did catering so I had them cater a birthday party I threw for a friend. Everyone went nuts over the food and asked me where it was from. The caterers were so nice and the set up was very cute! I'll have this company cater my parties anytime!! Thaaaank You! -Sonja R.
(5)Oggie O.
Customer service is good here, Staff is nice and friendly. I like their fish taco on wheat flour tortilla (well...that's because I like fish tacos) Shrimp tacos are also good too. Shrimp is not overcooked with good flavor. They have a salsa bar with mild to hot salsa, but I would be careful when eating their pickled carrots though, last time it tasted bad!
(4)Ara C.
i love taco tuesdays! nearly all of the mexican restaurants have some sort of special on tuesdays, but this one is at the top of my list. The tacos are actually pretty dang delicious. The shell has the perfect blend of softness and crunch that is hard to attain. Tip: don't take any leftovers home though. it's just not the same taste. you have to eat these suckers when they are hot! i would have given this 5 stars except for the fact that it is too dang busy on tuesday nights. There is usually a line and it gets crowded. no seats. Brea downtown has farmers market going on tuesday evenings also so if you are on the hunt for some fresh fruit, the tuesday tacos and fresh fruit afterwards for dessert makes a killer combo. If you are stingy and don't want to buy the fruit, eat the free samples.
(4)Alvin K.
Americanized mexican food..never good
(2)Stephanie F.
My boyfriend brought me here in our sophomore year of high school. Since then, I've been a loyal customer and come here nearly every week! I know I went as a high school student, but I promise you I was not one of those repulsive teenyboppers there that think they're the coolest thing to walk the earth because they were without their parents. I just wanted some good Mexican food! Anyhow, I actually enjoy going with my parents because we all love walking through the Farmer's Market and getting our Taco Tuesday fix after. I always look forward to Tuesdays for the $1 crispy chicken tacos; and yes, the food can get rushed when it's busy, but it's an inevitable result of wanting to deliver fast service and to handle the overflowing line going out the door. I'm sure anyone that works in the food service industry can sympathize. But anyways, their Pico de Gallo (or Fresca Mix) is my dad's and my favorite! On the other hand, my mom and boyfriend are more daring and have a greater spiciness threshold, but they love the hottest salsa there! All their salsas go great with their fresh, warm, thin, crispy chips. But if you're not a fan of salsa, the chips taste great on their own, too. Taquitos are nice and crispy (I'm a fan of the thin and crispy tortillas, as you can see) and the tamales, both chicken and cheese, are one of my favorite things to take to heat up for the next day's lunch. Another perk is that they'll put on the Lakers games :D So, it's safe to say that my four-year relationships with both Fresca's and the boyfriend that introduced us are still going strong :)
(5)Don T.
The food is fresh and tasty!
(4)Giovanni N.
It's known as the TNT and cheap bastards like me are all over it. It stands for Tuesday N Thursday and on these days you can get a shredded beef taco packed with lettuce, cheese, tomato and onions and fried on a flat grill for just $1.25 each. Order three of these and you've got yourself a meal. Combine it with a pitcher of beer for $6.25 and it's party time. Ask for some chips nicely and they'll throw them in and now, all of a sudden, you have a damn good meal. The salsa bar kicks booty especially those tender habenero carrots and the numerous spicy salsas.
(4)Jessica R.
its okay!!not realy authentic mexican food. tortas have "mustard"? !!burritos are good. horchata is the best though!!*friendly cashiers, always happy and have a great smile!!!friendly Lunch specials are GREAT taquitos are bomb! =)
(4)Kaycee R.
Taco Tuesday and their best value combo meals of $5.00 or less !! Now who could say no to that!!! I have been going to Fesca's for some time now and everytime I come i never get disappointed. Fresca's is located in the heart of downtown Brea and is always crowded especially during lunch hours. This is probably one of the closest you can get to authentic mexican food in Brea.
(4)Elizabeth H.
I used Fresca's Mexican Grill to cater my husbands 30th birthday two years ago and haven't stopped going back since! I love Fresca's! Fresh is their name and fresh is their game. I usually get the Chicken Tostada Salad, but their tacos are delish and their guacamole is just how I like it! My husband loves their shrimp tacos and my son always gets the kids bean and cheese burrito meal (Probably because it comes with a cookie!). Taco Tuesdays are a lot of fun because Fresca's is located in Downtown Brea and you can walk off the tacos you just ate by browsing around the farmers market. Their food is consistent and always tastes great.
(4)Shea H.
One thing that drives me crazy for this place, are the black beans!!! I love black beans and a lot of places I eat at dont have them. If they do have them, they are too whole for me. Here, they make it taste so good! My favorite part is finishing my enchiladas and using the beans, rice, sauce, and extra cheese as my nacho toppings. I dont really like much of their other stuff though... So really, I am giving this place a good review mainly cause of just one great dish! Which are the enchiladas! Its a cheap fast food way of making the enchiladas, but they are so good! Its hard for me to find this dish at other places and like it. They chop up the meat, not pull it. I dont like pulled beef! So, in other words... If you like enchiladas, black beans, and eating it all with chips. Then this is a great place! If you are getting a burrito with chicken and refried beans...then maybe not... For me this is a great place.
(4)Ben B.
Great Place! Way better than Baja Fresh. Lots of great home made salsas. Grilled fish tacos were excellent. Very kind and respectful service. And they have Horchata!
(5)Aaron C.
Good lunch spot in downtown brea. I had the tostada salad and it was HUGE! I thought I'd never say this but: I couldn't finish it! lol and it was only like 5 bucks. Try the fajitas, they are pretty good. Nice seating in the patio for people watching. Authentic mexican fruit drinks like Jamiaica and Horchata and a pretty good salsa bar. Thumbs up to frescas!
(4)Ryan C.
pretty standard low end mexican fare... i would compare it closest to baja fresh, but it's not as good... although a little cheaper... i think u can get a combo plate for $5 with like an enchilada, taco and rice/beans & chips salsa bar is alright too... had a nice stash of the pico de gallo and plenty of lemons and limes to squeeze all over my grub before diving into it... one perk is that they give you chips after ordering so you can make your own veggie nacho type dish while you wait if u load it up with cilantro, pico de gallo, and some of their other avocado type sauces... not a bad time killer and u can get pretty full with this technique and also ordering a $5 combo... all in all tho, this place is nothing special and is about as average as you can get as far as taste and quality... only go here if u are craving fast mexican or chips and salsa and stuck in DT brea
(3)Ervin L.
This place is very "meh." A little cheaper than Baja's Mexican Grill, but not very good. Their California Burrito is actually made with chicken and guacamole. The guac and beans were alright, but the type of lettuce served was nasty and didn't match with the rest of the plate. If you look around the restaurant, it does seem popular, but you never see too many Latinos eating here. In my opinion, it's a sell-out gringo restaurant, and if you want authentic, you gotta go to a more ghetto part of town. If you want delicious gringo, go to Chipotle.
(2)Daniel L.
Great food, prices aren't to high and the service is quick. There taquitos are delicious and are only about $4. Another must try is the wet burrito with carne asada. Most orders come with free tortilla chips and unlimited amount of different salsas. You also have the option of calling in your order if your in a hurry.
(5)Katherine L.
So I've been craving nachos for over a week, and finally I decided to do something about it. I went to Fresca's and got some nachos! I asked for no beans, but they gave me beans anyway, so -1 star for that. But it satisfied my nacho craving, and the order came out in what I can only describe as a timely manner considering it was lunch time, and considering how crowded it was. I also love their quesadilla and chicken tacos. Yum yum!
(4)Robert M.
A direct competitor to Baja Fresh, etc. And they do a good job in that arena. Went there of a Saturday morning last week for an early lunch with Antone. The food was simple, tasty, and effective. My chimichanga (fried just right, I'd say) was termed the "Killer B." It had black beans, guacamole, chicken, cheese, rice, and a tomaters/onions mix. I dumped healthy amounts of their chile on there, which is superior, probably, to that found at BF, La Salsa, Senor Baja, Rubio's, Wahoo's. The chips had a nice crunch. That and a negra modelo--not too shabby. I'd go again.
(4)Heather B.
My fav Mexican spot! The enchiladas are the best.
(5)Hayley P.
I am a huge fan of this place. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered a carnita's taco and a chicken taco the first time I came and I have never ordered anything else because they are SO good. The salsa is delicious and they give you chips to munch on while you wait for your food. My boyfriend on the other hand always orders their special (which changes every other day or so) and he is usually pleased. We almost always have his daughter with us when we come and she loves the kids quesadilla. It comes with rice and beans, as well as a small drink and a cookie. Needless to say, we always leave happy and full.
(5)Abel R.
Very good veggie wrap and the cheese fries, try the salsa japonesa. Good Mexican food for an American type of joint.
(4)Kristen M.
Yeah okay, Birch Street sucks, but it's right by my mom's house so I deal. Fresca's is the only reason I venture to Birch Street, except maybe movies at uncrowded times. Totally worth dealing with the snooty Brea residents and oodles of teeny-boppers hanging out everywhere. The menu has a good variety of mexican food, pretty much all of the standards. I usually get chicken tacos, or enchiladas. You get chips and salsa bar with your order. I really like the food, flavorful, but not loaded with crap. Seems pretty healthy for mexican too. Oh, and Fresca on tap, can't beat that!
(4)Amy J.
I dunno what the cashiers were doing, but at least the food made up for the wait in line. The food isn't terribly expensive or fancy. The prices are pretty reasonable. This is place is pretty reminscent of any other Mexican food chain. I got the California burrito which was pretty tasty. My friend got a bean and cheese with avocado slices which she enjoyed so much she actually finished it quickly. They gave me way too many chips I could handle. The location was close to the theatre. Decent.

I frequently dine here for lunch, approximately once a week. The food simply tastes good. The salsa bar is a bonus. Fuego is my favorite. If u don't feel like having meat (or a vegetarian), I highly recommend the veggie wrap with salsa of ur choice. You will not be disappointed. I have also seen the owner greet customers while dining.

First time to Fresca's ever - and In the words of Paula Deen: HYUM! I recommend: Crispy chicken tacos! Deee-licious! the tortilla's for these are slightly fried, providing you a nice crunch, but not extreme like a hard-shell taco. Salsa's fantastic! The Hot is not hot, but the "Japone" one is really good, I'd give it a "mild" rating on my Asian spiciness scale. The chips are good, too, crispy, but not too crunchy, and warm when I got 'em, so that's nice. 2 tacos + BLACK beans (yay!) + rice + chips + salsa bar, all for $6.25 + tax = a fairly good deal. Gripe: They gave me 2 chicken tacos insteada 1 chicken and 1 steak, so i can't rave about how great the steak is; I woudln't know. Maybe the dude wasn't on his game that day. (shrug) No complaints from me, I got twice the chicken taco goodness. :) Not that I rate places depending on parking, but for those who do, parking's really accessible - there's a huge structure right next to the place. So, 5 stars. And for those that go to Fresca's on Tuesdays, note: the dollar tacos only start after 2PM. Just thought you'd like to know.

I am a big fan of their fish taco special (only $4.95!). Like other Yelpers have stated-this is NOT an authentic Mexican place and is more along the lines of Baja Fresh and Rubio's. I particularly like the beans and rice here. Usually I don't pay much attention to these sides, but I find them particularly tasty at Fresca's. I especially like scooping them up with some tortilla chips and salsa from their salsa bar. I am weak sauce though so I stick with the mild and pico de gallo. Someday I may stray away from my fish taco order and try other things on the menu but for now I will stick with what I know I like!

As much as I like the food at Fresca's, I'd much rather drive down to the one in the Costa Mesa/Santa Ana area ( yelp.com/biz/Q0OaSmppWfH… ). Why? Location, location, location. This place is in downtown Brea. A place notorious for its over-abundance of uber-annoying teens and pre-teens dropped off by their upper middle class parents without the decency to pay attention to their children. This whole area reeks of Axe/Tag body spray, astringent, and hair 'product.' How can you possibly enjoy a meal here when you're surrounded by the stench of youth?! The food is great (yes, the tacos and salsa are good), but I'm too distracted by all the Vanilla Ice and Paris Hilton wanna-be's. If I wanted to see freaks while I eat, I'll visit the Ringling Brothers, drive down to the Block at Orange, or turn on Mtv.

The prices are good. The salsa bar is good. The bean and cheese chimichanga with pinto beans and served wet is awesome. The chips are fresh and come with it.

The staff is unbelievably nice, and their salsas are made fresh daily (or every other day at the most). The fuego salsa is amazingly spicy, which is always a plus with me. There is a lot of griping about the Birch street area which has hurt this location's ratings, but I don't see how Birch street is any more obnoxious than any other portion of Orange County. Yeah there are a lot of kids, but I've got to admit that when I was an OC kid I was also annoying. Plus, it's not Fresca's fault is it? Minus one star because they don't have very good street tacos and their horchata isn't reliable.

The food rocks!

This place loses a star for cleanliness. There are just a lot of napkins lying around on the floor and dirty tables. The food is good though. I like that I can customize items to not have meat.

Cheap? Yes-- and that includes the tasteless quality of the food. Even for a $5 burrito, I felt that it was much too expensive for its standard (or lack of). There was hardly any meat in the burrito and bowl. They were bland, unappealing, and insulting to your taste buds. I felt extremely bad for my two friends that I dragged along to this restaurant. I'm only giving it one star for its convenient location next to the theatres. I should have just gone to Mocasalsa or something...

This place is conveniently located right by the Edwards Cinemas in Downtown Brea and is a cheap, decent place to get some munchies before heading over for that $15 movie. The place offers various specials including taco tuesday dollar fifty tacos and meals for five bucks and under. This place doesnt offer many vegetarian items, but the few that they have I have tried. The offer a veggie bowl, which is bland, its just veggies (carrots, cabbage and broccoli) rice and black beans. Meh. The veggie wrap is just a vegetarian burrito cut into 7 pieces and is hard to eat! Why would someone ever cut my burrito into 7 pieces and call it a wrap?! Oh well, I managed. They offer black beans versus pinto which is great and healthy! Woo hoo. This place also offers beer, I think at $4 a pop. The service is great. The staff is helpful and friendly and helps you right away. I would recommend this place and would definitely go back for their cheap semi-though-almost-not-at-all-"mexican" food.

This place is hit or miss with me. I've gone and been blown away by the food and sometimes I've gone and haven't been able to finish my meal because it's so greasy

Mediocre mexican food, but for the price it is what it is.... Although, they have a great Taco Tuesday (at the same time as the Farmer's Market) Good times!

I live in the area and as you know there are many choices for a quick meal. There are very few places that I would care if they closed their doors. But if this place closed I would be truly sad. It is one place in downtown Brea that is always busy and especially on Tuesday Nights, $0.99 Taco Tuesdays. It is much better than Chipotle, Baja Fresh, or anything else in that category. And it is a little less expensive. I am not sure about the fish tacos, if you want fish tacos go to Taco Nazo (La Habra).

Taco Tuesday is a great invention. The chance to get excellent tacos for only 99 cents. Count me in. Filled to the brim with people every tuesday there isn't a best time to go...Other then that this place is like any mexican restraunt. I woundn't go there any other day then Tuesday , thats all...

I love their tacos so much. They have one dollar crispy chicken tacos on every tuesday. I'm not sure if I want to drive to costa mesa or santa ana for the same food.. I would rather be hangiug out with teenagers than being in traffic. Plus, on Tuesdays, we could get some yummy fruits at the farmar's market on Birch street.
