2 in 1 burrito baby!! Holler at cha boy... DAMN Im hungry!!! haha.... for all ya'll who don't know... its 2 rolled tacos inside the burrito..... you can even add fries to have a 2 in 1 cali burrito.... geees..... This burrito is so worth it... I forgot how much it cost, but at least it won't take a chunk out of your wallet.... The carne asada meat they use in their carne asada fries is soooooooooooo rich in flavor... I swear you can taste like every ingredient in that bitch.. I mean piece....

Lolita's, Lolita's, Lolita's! Where do I even begin? Lolita's is like your old favorite sweater. You know, that sweater. The first instant you put it on, you knew. Warm, snug, but not too snug, and the softest piece of cloth to ever grace your skin. A bond was made; you and that sweater were inseparable. Then as time passed, the sweater began to lose its luster. The sleeve cuffs began to tatter, the color faded, and the softest piece of cloth to ever grace your skin was not so soft anymore. Despite it's slight deterioration, you still wear it. Maybe not as often as you once did, but you wear it nonetheless because, let's face it, you LOVE that sweater. It has a special place in your heart and in the end it still hits the spot. THAT is Lolita's. Even though the service can be slow and the serving size isn't as big as it used to be, Lolita's is still the BEST Mexican food I've ever had. My Recommendations: Try anything carne asada. The carne asada fries or chips are good to share. [THOSE entrees are pretty large.] The rolled tacos with guacamole are a regular order for me. I also like the beef tacos. Lastly, [if you can handle the heat] the salsa is a MUST!

This little taco shop is definitely a local favorite. I've been going here for years and I'll vouch for this place to any Mexican food lover (although I'd have to mention prices are a little steeper than average). I highly recommend the carne asada... Anything! This place tends to get busy so call in your order ahead of time for a quick pick up and go.

By far the best taco shop in town. Their Carne asada burrito was so damn good. After, a round of golf this place hits the spot. My only probem with them is that they aren't open 24 hours.

cant go wrong with this place...california burrito sounds good right now.. if you don't wanna wait, then call first.

This place was a true mexxxican food epiphany for me. The carne asada burrito... great, the california burrito... the best ever, the rolled tacos with straight avocado guac speckled with tomatoes and covered in cotija... amazing. Nice looking place, in a decent area with a kind of bland atmosphere, but still amazing. I visit this place at least once every two weeks, sometimes much much more.

Out of all the Lolitas Taco Shops, this one is unfortunately the worst. The hot sauce is watered down when compared to any other taco shop, rats will occassionally scurry around your feet as you walk from parking to the restaurant, and we've had a refund once for an "unknown brown object" (which we thought was rat feces) inside of a california burrito. In terms of service, the place is okay. But in terms of mexican food, you're at the wrong place. Go here only if you're in high school with nothing better to do and nowhere to go.

  • Mitchell C.

Have eaten at every location... Been a patron for years and the place never disappoints...would be a 5 if they hot sauce was hot like the old days...

One of the things that southern California is known for is having good mexican food. This is one of my favorite places that serve REALLY good mexican food.

  • Angela H.

This is the first place I go to every single time I come home from SF. Or the second, if my flight arrives late. The best mexican food on this side of the border. God I miss the veggie burtto.

Birthplace of the California Burrito. Not so long ago this was the ONLY hang-out spot for all late night High schoolers in search of food and house parties in Bonita. Lolita's made bank on this...opened more shops and eventually changed their target consumer from the hungry teen to the soccer mom. Sadly, resulting in smaller and more expensive burritos. I think people still line up for the name recognition, the memories and the fact that they managed to spruce up the joint, but that's about it. The food is what you'd expect from any another established taco shop in area...expect the sudden urge to shower and fast after eating.

    Best taco shop ever!

  • Jenni Y.

I ordered their Carne Asada Fries because I LOVE the ones that I get from the Clairemont store but this place was just Meh. I liked that they packed the box so that when I opened it, the food was in the shape of the top part of the box (LOL) but there was way too much fries. There wasn't enough guacamole/sour cream so it was kind of dry. They have a couple other mexican places in that area that could make better carne asada fries than this place. if you really want Lolitas, go for the one in Clairemont.

  • Ann P.

Whenever I come home for the weekend, I always look forward to eating at this place. But every time I go here, the burritos get smaller and smaller and don't think the prices compensate for it. It's hard to hate this place because it has been a favorite for years and a place you recommend to everyone you talk to, so I still give it 4 stars. Recommendation: If you want to get your moneys worth, stay away from the burritos. I highly recommend the carne asada fries and chips.

  • Lewis G.

dank so dank carne asada chips or shredded beef tacos do it

I've been living in San Diego for nearly my whole life and have eaten at seemingly dozens of different taco shops. Lolitas is hands down my favorite. Their carne asada is the best, whether it be in a carne asada burrito, california burrito or carne asada fries. The wait time can be long when the place gets packed but it's well worth it. Some of my family members also like the pollo asado and I think the rolled tacos are quite good as well.

  • Ron A.

One of the best places to go for cane asada fries in SD, where mexican food is at its finest almost anywhere in the city. Not the my favorite spot (it's tacos el gordo on H street.), but it is a guaranteed good spot if you're looking for carne asada fries. To remedy the low ratings from other people, I don't recall which is the original location of Lolitas, but since it's become a chain in SD, the quality of the newer establishments isn't as good as the 1st one; so i guess try the other locations. LOL. But without a doubt, SD has the best mexican food without going across the border.

  • Elvee F.

Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe this place is always just darn good! Every so often I just crave Lolita's machaca plate. It's generous, filling, and just the right amount of meat vs. egg. The tortillas are always fresh, and man, I just reminded myself that it's been a while since I've visited this Lolita's. The service is brusque, but it doesn't matter. Their food speaks for itself! For good "forget about the diet til Monday" fare, try their carne asada chips! Viva Lolita's! So excited that they've now got a downtown location, but I think the Bonita one is still my favorite.

  • James W.

not a fan of this place. tried it a handful of times and was always disappointed. first off its true, they are sloooow. the meat is kind of bland. not a fan of any of their hot sauces. the best thing about this place is the Styrofoam burrito containers they use that no other taco shop seems to have. it has been a while since Ive been back here but it never sounds appetizing so i never go back.

    (2)
  • Hans M.

Lolitas used to be cheap & good mexican food. It isn't cheap anymore --- It isn't THAT cheap anymore. I don't understand why everytime I talk to people about this place, their reactions were like as if we were talking about a great club or something... It's just a good taco shop.

    (3)
  • Chester J.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It was the hang out friends after school and holds many memories for me. There is no better representation of Mexican food served in the US than here. I'll be going back to this place for as long as it's open. If they try to close, I'll buy it and keep it kicking. Long live Lolita's! Where Patience is the Essence of Fine Mexican Food.

  • David V.

Always a reliable option for my Carne Asada Fries-Cliche Combo fix, this place never leaves me unstaisfied... until my subsequent cholesterol check, of course. But seriously, their salsa/lime slice/green onion bar is great, the horchata is phenominally sweet and speed of service is acceptably proportional to one's order. Apparently I hadn't been here in a while, though. The price of certain specialties have really gone up! Thankfully, the quality has not dropped. It's still worth lots of bang for your buck. And they FINALLY accept debit!

I miss this place so much! I just miss San Diego Mexican food in general. When I come back from the Bay Area I have to get a California Burrito or Carne Asada fries or rolled tacos. The burrito is seriously the size of my forearm and I can never finish it but I always try. Their fish tacos are pretty good but greasy, so it's rare that I get those. Beware of the lines, because it's almost always busy/crowded. Oh, and it's clean! Burritos with all meat and maybe some guacamole with hot sauce for less than ten bucks? Yeah, I miss it. :(

    (5)
  • Jennifer S.

The best California Burrito EVER!!!! Carna Asada fries and mixed burrito is AMAZING as well! You are an idiot if you think otherwise!

  • Nika R.

Went there yesterday with my best friend after tons of awesome reviews on the place from friends and family telling me i HAD to go there. I went and the place was a bit crowded, there wasn't much seating but their food was pretty reasonably priced which was pretty good considering we're two broke a$$ college students. By the time i got to eat it was about 2 hours after we got our food due to running errands, I got the rolled tacos just guac and cheese and spanish rice. The rolled tacos were pretty good, i liked how they used the dry jack cheese. Their spanish rice was terrible it tasted like it was from Del Taco and i despise del taco. My bestfriend said her Cali burrito kinda sucked. But im willing to give the other locations another chance, just not this one. I'd rather go to Roberto's.

    (2)
  • Desi D.

Lolita's has some pretty bomb carne asada fries. definitely the place to go if you're local in bonita. Beware of all the high school kids that kick it there though! haha

    (5)
  • Vanessa C.

Let's just say that this place is so good that when my cousins from San Francisco come to town the first thing they want is the Carne Asada Fries! On their last trip down here someone ordered them the carne asada fries from another restaurant in Chula Vista, the next day they went back to Lolita's for what they called "The Real Deal" The fries have gotten expensive, which I don't appreciate but its sooo huge you can share with someone else and it really counts as two meals (unless you're totally brave and finish all 1000+ calories on your own). For quality, I'd say that Lolita's is much better than most I've tried in and around San Diego. I pretty much tried most items on the menu and they've all been great, except the chile relleno which was pretty bland. Cost is pretty decent as well.

"Patience is the essence of fine Mexican food." This one is the fastest of the stores. The salsa Mexicana is the rawest and onioniest of the stores also. The son that runs this one hasn't learned from his father very well. Listen to the Candy man , boy! And yes this store nickels and dimes you. NOT the real Lolita's But, the unfriendly service here is freindlier. Hey, Carolina. (que cachando!)

oh lolitas, if only you were as good as you were in the glory days when you were just a nasty scary hole in the wall. alas, things just aren't the same since they moved across the way and i'm no longer afraid to go there late at night (not that i could since they don't stay open that late). their beans are gross, i'm always picking odd chicken parts off my flying saucer, and their carnitas are dry and flavorless. the only saving grace for this place is their carne asada fries, which are pretty damn good but nothing mind blowing. i know i'll probably get flogged by my sister (not to mention all the people i went to high school with that swear by this place) for writing this review, but seriously people, if you really really want good, cheap mexican food, try don pedros on 3rd ave. in chula vista.

    (2)
  • Nikki M.

Being that I don't like fast food too much I was happy I decided to try Lolitas since the food had great flavor. I only ordered the fries so I don't know too much about how great some of their other items might be. The wait was the only thing that I could say I could do without...yet at the same time the quality of the food is definitely worth it once and awhile.

    (3)
  • Marie B.

Excellent Mexican food. I would recommend their California Burritos if you like carne asada, french fries, white sauce and cheese. Since this place is so popular and good, I would recommend ordering your food to go if you're starving or in a rush to eat.

    (4)
  • Matt F.

I went here on the advice from fellow yelpers. Parking wasnt that bad. The wait kinda sucked. It was a Wed night and I had to wait for around 15 minutes to get my burrito and my fries. Yes , you read correctly. I ate a 2n1 burrito AND carne asada fries. I am a "man of size" . That is the PC term. I must say the fries were exelent but not worth 7.50$. The 2n1 was good but not great. The meat had plenty of flavor and the burrito was good , just missing something. I cant put my finger on it. The hot sauce was pretty darn good . I really with I could give this a 3 1/2 star....But 17$ bucks later , I just dindt feel it was a 4-5 star place.

I love Lolitas in Bonita!! Always ready in 10 minutes!! Best items are CA Burrito, Carne Asada Fries, and Chicken Enchiladas!! And Shrimp Burritos :)

Good and cheap breakfast burritos... especially love the bacon egg and cheese! Decent carne asada.

THE BEST Carne Asada fries. No other place can top their carne asada fries. Very good quality meat with fresh ingredients. Everything about them is perfect. They also have really delicious shrimp tacos yummy! I always crave their food

  • Erin C.

I've been eating here for as long as I can remember. I've been to all the locations, but this is my favorite (Clairemont is cool because it's bigger). Everything is good. Carne Asada Chips = aswesome. Hot Sauce = awesome. Gucamole = the best I've ever had (is there beer in it?)! Love that they have a salsa bar now and all you can drink drinks. They didn't have all that when they were on the other side of Bald Weasel. I do agree that the burritos have been getting smaller over the years. A much bigger burrito can be found, but the taste? I don't think anywhere is as good as my Lolita's

    (5)
  • Ryan B.

Lolitas, Lolitas, Lolitas?????? You know what I'm over you once and for all. It sucks because you where so good back in the days when we'd all hang out in your parkinglot. Now I'm not impressed at all. The SERVICE SUCKS!!!!! I would hire new people. They act like they don't want you there. They're just rude now. It now take forever. I waited 30 minutes the other other day for one burito. The time before that it was about 45 minutes. The CA burito has less and less meat and more and more fries and the cheese is never melted. The carne is always old and you guac turns brown by the time you get home and I live up the street. Then to top off your now bad service and quality your prices have gone sky high!!! You cant even get a burito for less than $5.00. It's time for you to rethink how your running this shop. Again I'm sorry but your slipping.

lolita's lolita's... we've had a troubled past you and i, haven't we? we've nursed each other on late drunken nights, we've watched each other grow and eat copious amounts of french fries covered in all of satan's favorite condoments. but still... i come back to you. at lolita's, you always get what you get, and consistency is not in their lexicon. there was a solid 3 years when i boycotted the restaurant because there service was so terrible. though they are much better now, they've always run (at least the bonita location) with the idea that as long as there is a line, their only obligation to their guests is to not spit at them... too much. But they've cleaned up their act enough for me to begrudgingly come crawling back again. The best thing at lolita's has been, and still is, their carne asada fries and california burritos. for sure the best in SD, perfect balance and when covered with their A+ hot sauce, it's freakin' delicious. DO NOT GET any of the vegetarian stuff though, ALWAYS a let down. so moral of the story: dunk it in hot sauce ...that's just a life lesson right there.

As I was driving in the little town/unincorporated Bonita, I decided to go here since all my South Bay friends rant & rave on how Lolita's is the bomb. I don't think it is the bomb, but it is good. It is one of the few taco shops where the interior is somewhat reminiscent of a Chipotle, but tastes better. The wait was a little long because it was a Friday after 1 p.m. when all the little teeny-bop Crusaders from Bonita Vista are going home. Since I find them a little more civilized than Rancho's tweens, I guess, enjoying my carne asada burrito was worth it.

  • jamie c.

i miss you. so much. but i can't use a five dollar bill to pay for my carne asada fries. so i'm bumping you down one star.

    (3)
  • Robert R.

Carne asada fries and California burrito lovers must come here. They're amazing. But if you want to switch it up get a California burrito with adobada instead of Carne asada!! If you come during the peak hours of business expect to wait 30-45 min. Hell, their slogan on the wall says patience is the essence of fine Mexican food. I've been going to lolitas for over 15 years, Bonita and clairemont locations have the best quality by far.

    (4)
  • Shane L.

Great food and you get huge portions. The buriotos are gigantic. My favorte is the delux breakfast burrito with beans. Nowhere else has a better breakfast burrito. The only reason I gave the place 4 instead of 5 stars is because they no longer serve their breakfast burritos after 11am. Bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (4)
  • Sara K.

Best Mexican food in San Diego. Period.

    (5)
  • Andrew A.

I'm noticing a trend- i've had three bad California burritos in a row from here. I used to rave about their CA burrito, but in the past two months i've been having really bad ones. The last couple of times, they've really ruined the balance- the majority of the burrito was french fries, with little carne at all. It might as well have been a potato burrito. Normally they even do good french fries for the burrito, but the last couple of times the fries were really oily and soggy, like they rushed to take them out. Lolita's: your quality is slipping- you have one cook at the Bonita location who sucks at making CA burritos, please re-educate him. Thanks.

  • Fabian R.

This place has been and always will be my favorite Mexican Food. I've been coming here since I moved to Chula Vista from South Bay and I've never looked back. I have friends that have moved away and when I hear from them all they talk about how much they're cravin a cali burrito or carne asada fries. Sure, the service can be kinda slow at times, and maybe you'll get a bad Cali Burrito here and there...but I'm a rolled taco kind of guy so it doesn't bother me at all.

    (5)
  • jane d.

75 percent of the time i go straight here for food after my flight lands in sd. the other 25 percent of the time i go straight home for some bomb home-cooked kapampangan food. 3-1 odds in lolita's favor over my mom's food, unheard of. i always order carne asada fries, but the chicken burritos are great too. put their number in your phone to pre-order, the food is worth the extra wait.

  • Dustin F.

Lolita's is a wonderful taco shop in Bonita/Chula Vista. Definitely a locals hang out. The Carne Asada Nachos are delicious, so tasty. Wanna try something different? Try the nachos with POLLO ASADO...now that's some good eats there my friend. Another favorite... the machaca plate, and not just for breakfast anymore! The salsa bar is a nice touch. The dining room is a bit small and hard to move around when busy, but nice decor and yes, as other fellow Yelpers have said, service can be slow and cold at times, but it is worth the wait! Easier to just call in and have it ready (almost) when you get there!

    (3)
  • Joel G.

pros...great little taco shop. there are about 4 of them now in san diego, clairemont mesa, and about 3 in chula vista. they have great carne asada burritos, and i just recently tried the chimichangas (deep fried burrito), which are also tasty. but my favorite is the california burrito...carne asada burrito with some shoe string french fries thrown in for fun. also check out the different quesadillas, you can add almost anything to it you want. con...only one really, the salsa is on the weak side, not hot, and just average flavor. otherwise a great place to eat.

    (3)
  • Dan P.

i've been coming to this joint on and off for about 15 years. you know why? because it's the best Mexican food joint in a three-mile radius, and by the time i get in to see my family from out of town, i just don't want to drive that far. i actually like this place. i sharpened my street fighter skills here after school, while i waited for my rolled tacos and chicken tostadas. but i never appreciated the complacency in their service. slow as f***, and never a smile for the loyal customers. and what's up with that guacomole? it looks like split pea soup. this is Bonita, not Buellton. we're 15 min. from the border, let's get some avocado in there.

    (3)
  • Aileen T.

I really don't understand what the hype is about this place. The food is mediocre, and thats being generous. The Carne Asada was dry and bland. It has very small portions. The wait is forever long (there were not many people when I went). And it is extremely overpriced! Skip it.

    (1)
  • Roxan J.

started going here when i was a kid, one of the must what you have to try is the carne asada fries, they give you a lot or fries and carne and its just so yummy.

    (4)

AMAZING Mexican food but remember to call your order in ahead of time because the wait can be insane. I love the Cali burrito or the rolled tacos!

  • B W.

Lolita's is the model for all California Fast Food Taco shops. Years ago, it was the ***berto's, but the berto's have fallen on mediocrity and a great deal of variety in quality as they are typically unrelated to one another. Lolita's has taken up the Taco banner and now stands as the San Diego champion of California Fast Food Taco shops. It does not hurt that Adrian Gonzalez always mentions it as his favorite Taco shop (and I believe he knows a thing or two about Mexican food). It is not a TJ taco shop and there is definitely a difference (and I really like them both). A TJ taco shop north of the border is more Tacos El Gordo. The specialties that they have like Carne Asada fries will not likely be found in TJ taco shops. I think that Lolita's has a very bright future and is spreading fast. Rightfully so, they know what they are doing and meeting the expectations of people looking for California Taco Shop fare. If you are looking for good Taco Shop food you will not be disappointed. This is a great place to take out of towners to demonstrate what California Taco Shops are like. Lolita's can match up against any similar restaurant in SoCal.

    (4)
  • Elizabeth Q.

The best California Burrito! They already know me here. 99% of the time I get a Cali burrito with guacamole! The other times I get either the jack quesadilla with ham (if I'm not too hungry) or the bean burrito with cheese! If I am in the mood to share I will order Carne Asada Fries, they are definitely too much for me alone! My son is starting to eat my burrito so I am trying to convince them to make a KID SIZE california burrito! He loves it too....and I am not a big fan of sharing this!

    (5)
  • Lola M.

Lolita's has decent taco shop food if you don't mind all the high school kids hanging out in there. Their hot sauce isn't my favorite but I'm biased toward's super sergio's hot sauce which is the best in the world. Haha. I wish the fries in their carne asada fries were crunchier because sometimes when I order them they're a little soft or saugy. The customer service could be a little friendlier in my opinion.

    (3)
  • Christine P.

Fattest California Burrito I've come across yet! Guacamole was excellent and the meat was juicy. Would have liked to have enjoyed more meat and less fries. Hubby thought the burrito was excellent and loved the fries! I think they could work on perfecting their hot sauce. Almost has a store bought taste to their hot sauce.

When I lived in Chula Vista/Bonita area, I would frequent Lolitas at least once a week. I loved their machaca burritos and carne asada tacos, so delicious! Great for when you had a rough Friday night out and need a greasy delicious pick me up to start your Saturday off right!

wow....easily thousands of dollars have gone straight to lolits....Ive gone to lolits in Bonita for about hmmm....8 years....now.. To all of you madly in love with it now.. I wish you would have seen the good old days... when the Cali was too much for a 240 lb lineman....when the carne asada fries came in the to go box because they knew you couldn't finish them... and now...I have to ask for extra meat for my calis because its just not the same. great place late night...great place for breakfast...great place for lunch...there is never a bad time for Lolits

Lolita is the neighborhood taco shop. They're basically known for their car ass fries (Carne asada fries). Also one of the few places open on a late weekend night in Bonita. The food is always good, but nothing special.

  • Iliana C.

I live in San Francisco now but whenever I come back home my first stop is ALWAYS Lolita's. I love this place. I have yet to find a place in San Francisco that serves Mexican food up like Lolita's.

    (5)
  • Shawn C.

I really miss the carne asada nachos and fries from this place. I moved a little too far away from Lolita's to justify the trip and I try not to eat this kind of stuff anymore. The nachos were the best ever. I only tried the nachos and fries but my father in law loved their tacos. The service can be a little slow compared to some other taco shops but it is totally worth the wait. I recommend that you call ahead for pick-up.

a great place for authentic mexican food from the area. there's nothing more to say than you MUST check it out. :]
