This is my favorite place on the planet for Prime Rib. If you want fish, or chicken, or anything else from their menu.... DON"T GO HERE. Go here only for the best Prime Rib you have every tasted in your life. From the moment you valet park, this place is an event. It is always crowded so even if you have a reservation you will have to wait. But fear not, there is an excellent bar with good pours and complimentary peanuts. Also, in the room adjacent there is a hot appetizer bar with sweet & sour meatballs, and home baked potato chips (it used to be better but people would fill up). When you are finally seated you will be astonished at the solidly British Imperial decor. Paintings of Lords and Ladies abound. Make sure not to be seated in one of the back rooms, they are far less impressive. The seats in the main room (where you should insist on sitting), are essentially couches, adding even more to the sense of opulence. When the server arrives they will ask only for your drink orders and if you want any extras, like a baked potato or a lobster tail added to your meal. Once you have ordered, the pageant begins. First there is a spinning iced salad bowl served with chilled forks. You have the option to remove ingredients but don't do it. The salad is perfectly balanced the way it is, with crisp lettuce, sliced beets, cherry tomatoes, homemade croutons, and a delicious house dressing. Next comes the Prime Rib Cart. Lawry's is the only place i know that still uses them. They look like the fuselage of a jumbo jet. And each one is handled by a master carver... with their rank represented by a medallion around their neck... the higher the rank, the more medallions. The carver will ask you what cut you want, The English Cut (three this slices), the Lawry's cut (a medium thick slice), or one of the bigger cuts (there are two: one thick, and one hedonistically thick). Each cut must be ordered the way that you like it, rare, medium rare, medium, and well. If you really want it super well done you can order the "end cut", which is the crunchy well done edge of the roast. The carver will also ask for your sides. The sides make the meal. There are creamed peas (yum), sweet creamed corn (extra special yum), and Lawry's famous creamed spinach (oh my God it this is my favorite). If you want to pay a little extra you can get a second side (I get the spinach and the corn: it is a trip to heaven). You can also ask the carver for other things, like an extra thick cut, or some extra bones (but you must tip him for this service; and maybe tip him anyway if he gives you a good cut without you asking). Now that you have your meat the server will bring Yorkshire Pudding (which is basically a popover: an eggy bread ball that is hollow and is great to sop up the juice). The server will also bring Au Jus, a broth like gravy that is beefy and salty, as well as ground horseradish, and a horseradish whipped cream. Use the whipped cream one, but not too much, because the meat does not need it one you pour on the Au Jus. After you are stuffed and happy, you can order from a list of desserts. The Trifle is the tradition dessert, but there are others (trifle is a booze soaked poundcake with Strawberry Jam and Whipped Cream. The servers will wrap up your leftovers in a nice box (if you do not have leftovers then you didn't order enough). The leftovers hold up well for a few days... so you can relived you amazing Lawry's experience again and again via the microwave. I cannot endorse this experience enough. Do it. Eat it. Love it.

Quality has gone down, but this is always a classic. Cream corn, cream spinach, prime rib carved at the table. MMMMM.

I've been wanting to try Lawry's for the longest time and heard about it from so many people. When I finally got to get a taste of the cows at this place I ended up not being able to move for a few hours after I had left the restaurant due to how much food I tried to pack in my stomach. I think I literally gained a good 5 lbs after that meal. It was pretty cool how they announced your party's name when your table is ready. When we were seated, my date and I both ordered the Lawry Cut med rare-rare. I got it with the creamed corn and he got it with the creamed spinach. He also got a Lawry's baked idaho potato in place of the mashed potatoes. I loved the creamed corn since corn itself is my FAVORITE staple, but it did start getting a little heavy with all the other richness of foods that meal. The yorkshire pudding was delicious. The spinning bowl salad was eh, too much sauce for my liking. The very respectable service, fancy presentation of food, good quality of meat, prices of the menu makes this a nice fine dining restaurant with... alot of people in casual clothes? I dont know it just seemed kind of off for it to be like that. I guess I was expecting customers to be more accommodating to the supposedly "dressy" atmosphere. It was also WEIRDLY interesting that 5 out of the 6 or so booths attached to each other in a section were ALL asian, me and my date included. Hmm, strangely so this apparently happened with a friend of mine when she previously came also. Coincidence? I'll let you decide. The place we were sitting at was kind of packed too close together, they had to move the table out to get us in the booth. Not to mention I felt a little too close for comfort to the table next to us. The guy next to me was literally half a foot away from me. I felt like I couldve almost bumped elbows with him. What made it worse was that he seemed as if he was trying hard to impress the girl he was on a date with by the way he was talking and the content involved. I guess it could be cute if it wasn't so freaking annoying that I could hear and understand his chinglish mix of words and pathetic tries at keeping the conversation going. My date and I were just enjoying our food while listening to him loud and clear. Nevertheless, I was obviously stuffed to the brim of my throat at the end of the meal, having finished 2/3 of the prime rib, corn, mashed potatoes, and all of the yorkshire pudding. I took the rest of my food to-go and the bone of my date's prime rib for my dog, and somehow trudged out of there with my stomach about to burst open. Lawry's isn't the best I've had but it does earn its place up there in the top spots. The next morning I reheated the leftover prime rib, creamed corn, and mashed potatoes, and it tasted just as scrumptious in my mouth as the night before. That's some quality food right there.

5 stars for a 5 star restaurant! My family came here in honor of my late Dad. It was a bittersweet moment for our family. When we were young, Dad wanted us to experience everything! Dinning at a fine restaurant was one of the important experiences he thought would be valuable to us. The waitress was superb. Our water was topped consistently, food was absolutely perfect. When she found out we had a guest with a birthday and that our dad had recently passed, she helped us celebrate both! I was deeply touched by her empathy. Thank you for letting us enjoy a beautiful dinner and create a beautiful memory beyond the physical loss of Dad.

Oh lawry's how i've wanted to love you. The prim rib is not the best prime rib you can eat. Its not even the best prime rib for the money. However, i would never hesitate to bring people to lawry's, for the reason that their service is impeccable. Honestly one of the best dining service i've ever experienced. Our waiter was extremely kind, seemed genuinely caring about our meal and experience, and answered all of my questions without being condescending as well as maintaining a smile the entire time. Just perfect service all night long. Now, the food: I had lawry's cut of prime rib cooked medium and a lobster tail. The prime rib was okay, not spectacular, but not bad. Totally enjoyable just not remarkable. I will not be coming back for prime rib. The lobster tail was delicious but not served hot nor even warm. It was almost cold, kinda lukewarm as if it had been sitting for a good 15 minutes or longer after it was finished cooking. My date ordered the salmon. It was only $30 for a very large serving. It was kinda ocean-y but my date didnt mind. I couldnt eat more than a bite. I'm really adverse to the sorta ocean-y gamey sorta smell/taste when it comes to seafood. Bottom line, lawrys has spectacular service, but if you want the best prime rib around, head over to Arroyo Chop house in Pasadena on the weekends. Arroyo chop house has their own ranch in orange county and always has usda double prime quality grade beef. Ruth Chris has usda prime grade quality sometimes. Lawry's doesnt even list their prime rib as usda prime grade quality. Make a reservation for arroyo chop house on the weekends cuz they will sell out of the prime rib. It's only available on the weekends.

Went here on a Saturday night. The ambience and decor was very old school British. I called ahead and was told by some snooty girl the dress code was business casual. But when I got there, people were dressed in shorts and sandals. The A/C was not working properly and it was uncomfortably warm. I ordered the prime rib Diamond cut and it was not as good as the hype. I felt it was way over priced too. The service was decent and our waiter was funny and sincere. With that said, I don't think I'll go back.

It is exactly as one would expect for an establishment with a menu limited to 90% prime rib. I don't put prime rib in the same category as 'steak or steakhouses' - and feel it shouldn't be compared with places that serve many other parts of cow. If I'm going to BOA or Mastro's I'm not going there for prime rib. Is the prime rib at Lawrys good? Yes, if you like prime rib then it's the standard by which prime rib should be judged. It was perfectly cooked, served properly, the au jus was delicious and anyone who disagrees doesn't know what prime rib should taste like. It should taste like this. Anything saltier is too salty. Anything leaner is too lean. More spices? Less spices? No - if thats the case - they're trying too hard. This is the prime rib benchmark. Compare all others to this. Period. The lobster (rock, not maine as far as I could tell) was fresh not frozen and properly cooked as well, the sides were delicious. The service was kind of Disney-esque with waitresses in 1950's 'costume' uniforms and the 'carvers' (19 year old boys with a chefs hat and mastery of the Spanish language) providing adequate service. Is it up to the standard of a Michelin 5 star? No. Is there a master sommelier guiding your wine selection? Heck No. But who cares, you're eating prime rib, not Kobe with a side of matsutake. Don't expect to be 'wow'ed' unless you really want some prime rib done right and served like your British grandma made it complete with sides (including a salad that involves a ridiculous sky high dressing pouring process into a spinning salad bowl - that if your server likes you, she may let you do yourself) and Yorkshire puddings. For BH, it's kind of a steal (approx $100/pp for wine, prime rib, lobster tails and included sides) and I think this is evidenced by the clientele as well. Pretty sure if they didn't specify 'no torn jeans or tank tops' there would be a plethora of asians in pajamas and tank tops here. It's a HUGE amount of food, the glass pour and flight wines are quaffable and moderately priced (99% of patrons were drinking iced tea). The desserts are massive and though we didn't have any, the diners around us said the English trifle was worth the extra pound or two one may gain from the experience. I'm going veg/pescatarian again (ack!) and this was my chosen 'last meaty meal' of 2014 - that should tell you something!

No street parking so I valeted, $6 service charge Reservations recommend. I was seated exactly the time I reserved! Well done! Dine La- $45 The spinning salad- the dressing tasted like thousand island dressing, however the presentation they did at the table was enjoyable. Sprinkle it with some lawrys pepper recommended by the server. 8oz Prime Rib/mashed potato/ Yorkshire pudding- medium rare It was yummy. The fat makes it good too. I ate it with some horseradish but mostly with the au jus it was amazing dipped with the mashed potato. The Yorkshire pudding was interesting. They gave my group an extra Yorkshire pudding. I thought that was really nice Lobster tail- amazing. I sprinkled some lawrys seasoning salt and pepper with lemon and butter and just delicious! Dessert- everything was good! We tried basically everything. We had a large group. Everything was really good! The strawberry grand marnier was interesting, the strawberry really compliments the grand marnier. My top 3 will be the warm chocolate fantasy cake (can't go wrong w warm cake and ice cream), creme brûlée (of course, but I had better) and the English trifle (surprisingly really good) Overall experience was nice. However a piece of the ceiling fell right next to us when we were wrapping up our dinner. That's pretty dangerous. Very old feel in this restaurant like as if I was on the Titanic lol. Workers were very nice.

Totally shocked at how Lawry's has been open since 1938 and only has 2121 reviews. Highest quality prime rib that I've found at a prime rib restaurant. It even tops House of Prime Rib, which comes in at a close second. Lawry's has been a family favorite for many years and continues to be a family tradition. I've enjoyed Lawry's prime rib countless times but in varying locations such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Hong Kong. It's always been the same story: we reserve, we eat, and then we are stuffed to the brim. We made a reservation at 8 PM and were seated immediately. We ordered: ENGLISH CUT ($41): Three thin slabs of meat. Personally my favorite of the different sizes/cuts of meat. Thinner slices of meat are more tender and absorb more au-jus and feels lighter. Plus, with thinner slices, meat goes away quicker while it doesn't give me a bloated feeling. Nice side of mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. More mashed potatoes due to the fact that absence of old favorites such as the creamed corn and creamed spinach though they charge extra for these freebies for the whole table to share. LAWRY'S CUT ($44): The same as the English Cut but you pay $3 to get a little more meat and if lucky, you get a bone. You can ask for the Lawry's Cut English-style (thinner slices). SERVICE: Always really courteous and very attentive. Enough said. DECOR: In comparison to House of Prime Rib, Lawry's really feels like a restaurant. Dim lighting, main upscale dining room, and formally dressed elders all adds to the experience resembling a formal and authentic upscale experience. Will I return? Overall, this is my favorite location and is one of the best places to dine meat-heavy and to feel stuffed. Though a bit pricey, Lawry's serves high quality prime rib paired with a dark and dimly lit interior all made for a memorable and one-of-a-kind experience.

Lawry's is a very large, well-decorated restaurant with comfortable booths - the kind of place you would go to celebrate a special occasion. You valet your car, go inside, and then are seated in the large dining room. As the name suggests, this place is known for its steak, particularly its prime ribs. These steaks are HUGE, so come hungry. They also come with heavy side dishes. The prices aren't too bad, considering it's a steak house. Still, I would not say the steak here is as good as that found at Gordon Ramsay or at one of LA's other established steakhouses. Overall, Lawry's reminds me of a good steakhouse you would find anywhere in middle America. It's not distinctly LA, but it serves good steak at a good price.

MMMM...I never have a bad time at Lawry's. This restaurant always seems to have large parties, families, and tour groups dining here so a reservation is recommended. They offer appetizers (meatballs, chips, etc) while you wait, which is pretty nice...though I'm not sure how eating as you wait for a table can be beneficial to the restaurant if they want to sell more prime rib, but hey! Their rules. Maybe whetting your appetite beforehand just makes you hungrier... The menu is pretty straightforward. There's different sized cuts of prime rib and each meal comes with the spinning salad (fresh and delicious), mashed potatoes (you can ask for a double portion for free), Yorkshire pudding (let it soak in the prime rib juice), and horseradish (fresh and whipped). Each cut is the following size: California cut: 6 oz. English cut: 7.5 oz. Lawry's cut: 10 oz. Diamond Jim Brady cut: 16 oz. Beef Bowl cut: 24 oz. TIP: You can share any of the cuts but a $15 surcharge will be added. This is actually a great deal if you think about it and a good way to control the gluttony. Except for the mashed potatoes, all other sides are a la carte. I highly recommend the creamed corn and creamed spinach (has a hint of bacon). I wasn't a huge fan of the (bland and dry) skillet of mushrooms or the (super cheesy) scalloped potatoes so I would skip those. If you're feeling adventurous, you can add a lobster tail to your meal for $14, but it's not great. Personally, I would just focus on your semi-bloody, juicy chunk of red meat because it tastes amazing. For dessert, forget everything else because it's all about the chocolate fantasy cake! The ambiance of Lawry's is old fashioned, almost stuffy, and you have guests in a range of attire from business casual to bewildered tourist to IDGAF casual. I guess there is no "dress code," but I like to dress business casual or at least trendy when I dine there. Also, due to the size of the restaurant and the way the meals are served, this place is great for large parties! I had a 20+ person birthday party here and everything went so smoothly, I'd have it here again in a heart beat. Service is spectacular. All the servers I've had have been friendly, attentive, and helpful. I really enjoy the positive energy and enthusiasm of the waitstaff! If you think you'll be a regular diner here, I highly recommend signing up for the Lawry's VIP rewards program. It's $25 to sign up, but they mail you a $25 welcome certificate so it balances out. You get 1 point for every pre-tax, pre-tip $1 you spend and a $25 gift certificate for every 250 points. That's about a 10% return which is better than nothing right? ;) Take your chances with street parking or valet for $6.

It finally happened. Lawry's slipped. Went just last night for our annual Xmas dinner. Wait was about 50 minutes, for a 5PM reservation. (Thank God for the meatballs, chips and close bar.) Prime rib was fairly tough and gristly. The Lawry's cut I ordered had a hefty bone (no problem, our dog happily accepts it upon our return) but there must have been 6 inches of "meat" left attached to it that was too stringy/tough to cut through and digest. Xmas carolers were still awesome, food is still quite good (abovementioned prime rib notwithstanding) and service is still pretty quality. Just a very shaky visit this time around in a few glaring areas. $7 valet parking fee still sucks. :(

Excellent service and the steak was so good! I had mine with spinach and corn. The best spontaneous foodie adventure that I have gone to with my hubby for our anniversary. They even brought us strawberry desserts. Would highly recommend and def. go again!!!

I came to Lawrys with my gf for her birthday dinner on 11/26/2014 for a 6:00 pm reservation. The ordering and the service up to the meat cart arriving was great other than the fact the maitress didn't ask if it was our first time here. I've been here when I was younger so I just ordered for my gf because it was her first time. Then everything went down hill. Maitress never came back to serve us. The busboy was the one who ended up refilling my drink after taking away my FINISHED plate. After he took away our plates 10 minutes has passed and still no one. No one asking if we'd like something else like desert or the check. I decided ok, i will just get up, go to the front, and pay. When I walked to where the hostess is, telling her i'd like to pay for the check. She tells me I cannot pay the check up front. I told her well if my maitress would get me the check than I wouldn't need to be here. The female general manager over heard us say this and did nothing. The hostess told me to go back and they will bring the check to me. L( I don't understand why she couldn't go get the check for me from the maitress.) Convenience: 3/5 (I had to wait for the busboy to refill my drink, I was told to go back to my seat and will until the maitress comes back with the check) Service: 2.5/5 ( service was great until the meat cart. The lady general manager which I clearly saw overhear my complaint did nothing. If she or the hostess brought me the check while I was at the front I would of given 3.5, however, they did nothing so they get a 2.5) Food: 4.8/5 (The prime rib was very good. It's in my top 10 places.) Price: 4.8/5

DINE LA + LAWRY'S = GOOD DEAL! Glad I came here for Dine LA, finally got to cross this off my booked marked list! The boyfriend and I made reservation a week early and still got stuck with a 9:45PM dinner on a Saturday night... so I advise if you want to squeeze dinner a little earlier make reservation 2 weeks in ADVANCE! Anyways, Lawry's has valet but it's $6 and plus you know you would have to tip them. If you don't want to park in valet I suggest you park on the street for FREE!! ( Certain time, but usually at dinner time is free ) If you're lucky enough to find one like we did. There is SELF PARK right next to the restaurant for only $4.50!! GOOD DEAL then valet, it's a tiny sign but you'll see it. It is literally next to the restaurant. There was a lot of people inside Lawrys in the waiting room, they have free meatballs and chips I didn't have any so I don't know if its good or not. Our reservation was at 9:45 came a little earlier waited about 10 minutes and was seated a couple of minutes before our reservation time yay. FOOD - Dine LA meun consist of The Spinning Salad, 8 oz Prime Rib, Mash Potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with a dessert in the end. If you want creme spinach or creme corn it's additional price. The spinning salad was okay, the dressing taste like thousand island. The Prime Rib was VERY juicy!!! They server hooked my boyfriend with a lot of mash potatoes and our cut was pretty big! And the lobster tail was so fresh and juicy!! DESSERT - Creme Brulee and English Trifle! Creme Brulee WAS ultra good and the English Trifle was so-so. Try The CREME BRULEE!! Everyone was nice and friendly!! Servers was top notch ! It could have been a five star but inside was SUPER hot!! I would have enjoy my food a little better if it wasn't hot and stuffy inside... PLEASE TURN ON THE AC A LITTLE HIGHER, it could be the meat carts making it hot. I felt super sticky, maybe I should wait til winter to come back so I would't feel that way hahaha, or the next dine la!

Been coming here for years and still enjoy the spinning salad, prime rib carter and the friendly service. The portions have gotten smaller, their vip service changed and they would not except the 25 discount we had from the old system.

This is a great place to go if you have something to celebrate. There were people celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and work promotions. The place is equipped for big groups and small groups. Though you do have to make a reservation and they won't seat you unless ALL of your party has arrived. Okay, so the place has that old fashioned decor look to it, but hey, steak is classic and timeless !! I love the spinning salad, it is always fun to watch them make it right at your table. The salad fork is even chilled when they give it to you. The salad, dressing and croutons were all good. If you just want to get the prime rib, there's an assortment to choose from, like the californian cut (for light eaters) to the famous lawry cut. The steak is huge and thick and done to perfection !! They bring a huge silver cart out and cut the steak in front of you. The dinner comes with mash potatoes, yorkshire pudding and whipped cream horseradish. You can also choose a set dinner, which consist of: a glass of wine, spinning salad, prime rib with mash potatoes, a side veggy dish, yorkshire pudding, dessert and coffee at the end. Besides the extras, the different between the set dinner and just ordering was that the set dinner prime rib was smaller, but you do get a great glass of wine with it. So, it just comes down to preferance. The prices were all reasonable for an upscale steak place. The only downside is that when you make a reservation, make sure to be placed in the main hall where everyone is. Sometimes they try to sit you at a table in another room that is next to a noisy kitchen where the atmosphere isn't nice.

I went to this place yesterday with my boyfriend just for fun because I've never been. It was amazing. We got the Lawry's cut with the bone in it with the mashed potatoes and cream corn and Yorkshire pudding. Wow I could eat those Yorkshire pudding's all night long. The cool spending all of it was the serving. The waitress really knew her stuff and it was really neat that all of the food was served at the table. The atmosphere was something new and kind of like I was an old movie. I deathly want to come here again - the food was so good and a really great experience. (And don't forget that they have meatballs and potato chips for you to eat if you're waiting for your table, um yum!)

Came here on the last night for DineLA to celebrate my bf's birthday. He looooves Prime Rib so he was starving himself all day for this meal. I attempted to make a reservation two weeks prior and the earliest availability was 9:15pm, definitely snagged it! We got there and the entire waiting room was full so we were worried that we would have to wait a bit even though we had a reservation... thankfully we didn't and they sat us right on time =) We were seated at a booth in the large traditional ballroom-like dining area. Obviously we went with the DineLA Menu: Lawry's Famous Spinning Salad - the waitresses always serve the salad in a spinning bowl and they pour the dressing in from a ridiculous height. I thought the salad was good, croutons had a nice flavor to them. I just wish I had the option of putting in my own dressing because the salad got a bit soggy, but I guess it was just for presentation purposes. Prime Rib (8oz.) - The chefs push around the large carts with all the meats. The DineLA deal says 8oz. but I really think the chef just cuts whatever size he thinks looks good. I went with a medium rare and it was the perfect cut -- very tender, super juicy and flavorful. You probably wouldn't need the au jus because it was THAT tender... but the au jus was very good as well. Lobster Tail - nice bonus on top of the prime rib. Good with the butter and lemon, but probably not as good as other places that specialize in lobster. Mashed Potatoes - perfectly creamy and fluffy Yorkshire Pudding - I really liked the Yorkshire Pudding here, it is oddly one of my favorite sides for prime rib. Choice of Creamed Spinach, Peas, or Corn - I chose the Creamed Spinach and it was a perfect compliment to my prime rib. There was just so much food that we had leftovers for a whole second meal the next day! Overall we had a great experience at Lawry's. The food was outstanding and the service was very accommodating. Not to mention you really can't go wrong with the DineLA $45 dinner deal, especially if you're a fan of prime rib.

My first thought upon entering the door was noticing the complimentary meatballs placed in plain view calling for my name, they were absolutely delicious. Had it not been for a friends reminder that we were there for prime rib I probably would have been satisfied just 3 feet from the door. Service is great as you would expect from any restaurant in the area. The food was good but i think i may have been spoiled at the house of prime rib in sf a week prior. One of the must have is on he dessert menu, the turtle ice cream pie! I would come back to lawry's just to order that dessert by itself, although I'd probably spend some time with those darn meatballs again.

I'm kind of upset that I didn't get to try the meatballs & crackers in the waiting room, but I mean that should be the least of my problems. We had a reservation for 730PM. I was kind of worried we wouldn't be seated on time because it was incredibly busy, but as soon as we checked in, they called us over to be seated. My family and I were all starving and ready to eat! **I highly recommend you make reservations beforehand because I overheard that the wait would be at least 2 hours for those who didn't think ahead... After we were seated, we decided to order a bottle of wine because we found that it was cheaper since everyone was drinking. The bottle was $35 and we had some leftover to take home. It sure beats buying a glass for $8-11. Every prime rib dinner comes with a plate of their spinning salad, mashed potatoes, and bread budding. Not to mention, they give you bread as soon as you sit down. I'm all for carbs, so I always make the mistake of eating too much bread even before the meal comes out. DON'T be dumb like me. I wasn't a huge fan of their spinning salad only because I don't really like thousand island sauce--too ketchup-y for me. But the little show they put on for you is just great! I ordered the California Cut, which is 6oz of prime rib, with a side of creamed corn. Even though I didn't finish my side of corn, I wish I had ordered another side of it to take home. No, scratch that. I wish I could've ordered a bucket of their creamed corn. It was SO GOOD! I don't know what they make it with, but I definitely need that recipe! As for the prime rib, what more is there to say? It was tender and cooked perfectly. I thought it was pretty cool how they lug around a big tray full of MEAT. The wait for the cart to come was kind of long only because it was so incredibly busy, but I mean that's only expected. I think if you're going to visit Lawry's, you should definitely come during the holidays! They had carolers singing to each table! They came around asking people for song requests, and they got REALLY into it. Valet is $6, which is a lot but normal for Beverly Hills. All in all, my family and I had a great time here and hope to come back again sometime! Maybe not too soon because I swear I gained 5 pounds from this one trip.

This place is an institution, and there is a reason why. The food is always consistently good from the famous spinning salad to the namesake prime rib even the Yorkshire pudding and gravy are top notch. I usually go for the Lawrys cut with creamed corn and spinach and I always leave happy with a good amount of leftovers fit for a King of Yore

Valentines Day I wanted to do something special for my wife so I took her and her sister.....who never has a date on Valentine's Day to Lawry's Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. We arrive 4:50 for a 5:00 reservation the place was packed. I checked in with the hostess they were very polite, I informed her my wife was in a wheelchair we were seated approx 15 minutes. My wife ordered prime rib and lobster tails $57, her sister ordered the 8oz Ribeye $47 and I ordered The Lawry's Cut of the Prime Rib $47....Unbelievable the size of this cut. Dinner comes with Lawry's Spinning bowl salad and house dressing. I like the salad but the house dressing just taste like a spiced up thousand island dressing. Dinner also comes with mashed potatoes....no baked potato on the menu, but Lawry's seems like the kind of place were if you want it they will try to make it happen. The bread served was nothing special I really pay attention to the bread at restaurants and this was nothing special kind of like a sliced sourdough. We all ordered a side dish , my sister-in -law and I ordered the cream corn "Delicious " and my wife ordered the cream spinach.. "some of the best spinach I ever tasted. The place is really upscale but you can dress casual or Black Tie ...it's Beverly Hills. The Restaurant called me twice to confirm my Reservation and catered to all my requests. Dinner cost me $220 for 3 If you want to treat someone you love special.. Take them to Lawry's Prime Rib in Beverly Hills

I've always wanted to try this place and I finally got a chance during the dineLA promotion this summer! I must say this place did not disappoint! *___* Our meal consisted of a beautifully tossed salad that the waitress tossed in front of us! We then had an 8 oz prime rib with mashed potatoes and their creamed corn! The prime rib was delicious as expected but the creamed corn was AMAZING I seriously wish i got another order of it! For dessert we had creme brulee and vanilla ice cream and both were delicious and were the perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience! I would not recommend coming here every week haha but for a special occasion or for a great deal like dineLA I would definitely recommend coming here!

It's hard to beat. Lawry's consistently delivers a good meal. Is it the best? Far from it. You go there for elegance (did you read that guy in shorts) and old fashioned style.

4.5 stars. Had to do a quick review while dineLA is still going on. I highly recommend going if you can get a reservation before the dineLA deal ends on 1/31. It's a great deal and you leave ridiculously full (and most likely with leftovers!). Their prefixe meal is $45 and it comes with their famous spinning bowl salad, either 8oz prime rib or salmon with lobster tail, and any choice of dessert. Definitely get the prime rib. After all, you are at a prime rib restaurant! It comes with mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding (it's like a bread), but all other sides cost extra, which range from about $3-8. The creamed corn ($6) is absolutely delicious. As for dessert, they have about 6 different choices, but from the ones I tasted, I think the ice cream sundae is the best. Your server actually assembles it in front of you with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, toasted almonds, and chocolate syrup. I really wish I was able to eat more of it, but I was stuffed. Definitely come with an appetite! With reservations, we were seated within 5-10 minutes, but if you have to wait a bit longer and you're starving, fear not! They have complimentary meatballs and potato chips in the waiting area to tide you over. They're actually very good but don't eat too many or you'll be stuffed before dinner! As for parking, you can always try your luck with street parking, but save yourself the trouble and just valet it ($6). Parking is almost impossible during peak dining hours. Overall, I highly recommend Lawry's, but given its hefty price tag and the richness of all the food, I'll only be back when I feel like splurging ;)

Food: Went here for Dine LA for my bday dinner last week. I was super excited cuz of the hype but sadly, Lawry's did not meet my expectations :( We paid $50 for chewy, bland prime rib that came with lobster, mashed potatoes, and a choice of a side. Everything was just OK... I got the creamed spinach while the boyfriend got creamed corn. The corn was much better than the spinach. The creamed spinach is better at Mastros. I can say that I've had better $20 prime rib at the San Franciscan in Torrance, CA--more bang for your buck!! The service was excellent but not worth coming to again boohoohoooo

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary in July and for Dine LA. It's valet parking and he opened the door for me. Other valets dont do that anymore, they just take keys from the driver then thats it The restaurant was packed when we walked in. We had to wait a little awhile after we checked in. but the good part is... they have free meatballs and chips. Those were the best meatballs I've had in a looong time... (that or im just really hungry). Our server was welcoming and since it was my first time, she explained to me how everything works and what their famous dishes are. Food was delicious! We both had the lobster tail, spinning salad. My boyfriend and I ordered different meals so we can try both. I ordered the salmon and he ordered the prime rib. and for dessert I had the creme brulee and he had the English trifle. The salmon is good, it doesnt taste "oceany" or old. The prime rib is big, tender and juicy. Our dessert came out with candles and they sang "happy anniversary". I liked the creme brulee more compared to the trifle. its not too sweet. it's just right and you wont get tired of it right away.

Unlike apparently most of the Angelenos in my immediate friend group, I didn't grow up going to Lawry's. I've been twice in my life, once in college, and once last week, for my friend Eric C.'s 30th birthday dinner. Matt B. was the only person at our table of ten who hadn't been before, and I was the only one who'd been less than like a hundred times. The place is an L.A. institution, in business since the 1930s. You can check the dress code on its Wikipedia page (smart casual); Philip Marlowe eats prime rib at a restaurant called Lowry's in The Long Goodbye. The space is very much old school, with a lot of wood and leather, along with some cheesy, mildly stuffy hotel lobby decor--portraits and busts of white-wigged white dudes and the like. It's a huge restaurant, with several large, high-ceilinged rooms. The waiting area alone must be the size of a small Korean restaurant. Our party of ten got one of many large tables, and it seemed like everyone in Lawry's was there for a special occasion of some kind. We had a 7:30 reservation, followed rather ambitiously by a 9:35 movie at the Grove. (This set-up made me nostalgic for high school--it was like we'd graduated from Cheesecake Factory to Lawry's over the last decade, but same friends treading an old routine.) It was a tight window for a fancy dinner, and it didn't help that we weren't seated until about twenty minutes after our reservation. The place was crazy busy, probably because of dineLA, but this seemed kind of off. Once we were seated, though, service was excellent and everything moved pretty smoothly. We were helped by Ms. Morris and Ms. Pey, who were both dressed in old timey aprons that made me feel a bit like I was in a theme restaurant. They were wonderful, friendly and competent, and Ms. Morris made sure we got everything when we needed it. (We ended up making the movie, missing maybe one preview.) We didn't book our dinner with dineLA in mind, but as long as it was happening, more than half of us went for the $50 set meal. It was more expensive than just getting a prime rib dinner, but I thought it was worth it. Basically a lobster tail, an extra side, and dessert for $11. We also got the two suggested bottles of wine that were on the dineLA menu, though I'm not sure they were discounted. They were good choices anyway, a pinot and a cabernet, both solid. If you haven't been to Lawry's, the way it works is that you order your non-cart dishes up front and get the rest from a "master carver" (we called ours Ishmael) who comes up with a grand cart loaded with all cuts and temperatures of prime rib, as well as some sides. A prime rib dinner includes the Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and whipped cream horseradish--a pretty full meal, as things go. The salad was fun, prepped tableside with all the ingredients tossed together in a large spinning bowl. It's a serviceable starter salad, with romaine and iceberg lettuce, baby spinach, shredded beets, chopped eggs, croutons, and "our exclusive Vintage Dressing"--tasty, whatever it was. I chose the California cut for my dineLA entree course, which also came with a broiled Nova Scotia lobster tail. I ate the lobster tail first, and it was pretty succulent, served with drawn butter. The prime rib came on a massive platter with the mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and a choice of cart vegetable--I got half and half creamed corn and creamed spinach by splitting with a friend. The prime rib was delicious. I got it medium rare, and it was buttery and tender, juicy and amplified by a rich au jus that doubled as gravy for the creamy mashed potatoes. There were two kinds of horseradish, one hotter than the other, and they were both great additions to the prime rib. The Yorkshire pudding was nice too, puffy and loaded with butter. And of course, the creamed corn and creamed spinach--I remembered these very well from my first visit to Lawry's. They were both indispensable. Since the dineLA menus came with dessert, our table split six of them to wrap up our meal. One came with a candle for the birthday boy--we sang and the restaurant was so big and festive that probably no one else noticed. We got two each of the old fashioned chocolate pudding, the creme brulee, and the traditional English trifle, and they were all quite good. The pudding was dense and dark and not too sweet. The creme brulee was standard but I like a standard creme brulee. The best of the three was the trifle, an airy, tall sponge of a cake loaded with berries and topped with a berry sauce. The meal wasn't cheap, and I'm not sure I'd go straight to Lawry's when deciding on a place for a spendy dinner--I'd never come on a date, for instance. That said, the food is pretty fantastic and the setting is perfect for large parties celebrating large occasions. I had a great time with Eric on his 30th, and I have no doubt that there are plenty more Lawry's dinners in my Angeleno future.

My first experience with Lawry's was well over a decade ago when I lived not far away from what was considered Beverly Hills adjacent, adjacent. Yeah, that's how cool I once rolled! It was in walking distance and I walked there a number of times. Lawry's is the only equivalent to House of Prime Rib in San Francisco here in Los Angeles. My first discovery on that first visit was that Lawry's service generous and very rich portions. The Prime Rib was delicious the creamed corn and spinach why glorious and echoing a bygone eras taste sensibilities were simply too much when you figured in the potato and Yorkshire pudding. As time progressed I trimmed it all down to the Prime Rib, potato and the Yorkshire pudding and spent more time imbibing Bush Mills or Jameson for the mid-century drunkishness. Costume service and particullary the theater or performance by the wait staff is central to the Lawry's exsquisite experience. The staff is well trained and extremely attentive. My waitress was very charming and British. I was able to pierce through the veneer of decorum to illicit a laugh with a wink and nudge as she would occasionally pass by to see that I was enjoying myself. First comes the Lawry's Caesar Salad. The bowl of your individual is spun in a stainless steel bowl on a bed of ice. The watress who most closely resembles a French Made then raises the dressing far above her head to drain the small decanter in the the spinning bowl. The saled is served with a generous portion with a chilled folk. Form the game escalates. Once you've finsihed your salad the Prome Rib soon follows. There are 4 different sizes of Prime Rib. I took the one next to the smallest because of the generousness of the other portions. I never leave hungry and more likely stuffed. When it came time for my slice of Prime Rib a official Chef looking gentlemen arrive with a large Art Deco Stainless Steel hooded serving cart and then selects the cut of meat to your liking. This is similar to a Litrugical process to delivering you the meat in grand style. It never fails to impress and remind me of another time when such theater was highly regarded in contrast of a fast delivery: A meal was an event not a service job for speedy liquidation. Once tghis process has finished your meal has started in earnest. My Prime Rib was as pink as I wished for with a lovely bark on the exterior. Lawry's offer a mild and a hot horseradish. I sided with the hotter version because I have demanding taste buds! They serve a tasty Au Jus and I spread it generously on my Prime Rib, then sop it up with the Yorkshire pudding. When I finsihed with my meal a desert was offered by my waitress, but honestly, I was so full I cloud barely pull myself form the table. This last night I was looking for a super comfort food experience and they delivered! There were many birthday's being celebrated. The wait staff would surprise the guest with a candle lit slice of cake and the singing would begin. It was a lively evening for this fine establishment. I'll be sure to return when I want to feel pampered and like royalty!

This is a great place to come for those who are meat lovers :) **Prime rib** is there speciality and most popular dish I got mine medium well with just a little red, it was really nice & juicy and tender as well not dry at all. I been here two times and on both occasions I was really satisfied. **customer service** was defiantly superb, the staff are real nice. Even for those who come to just try it out just for dine LA and to eat a meal for real great deal! For DINE LA portion wise isn't different you leave the place stuff! I got the prime rib with mash potatoes + added the $$ **cream of corn **** super Good !! Tried the spinach not bad either ! even after eating that plate and having the salad and buttered bread as a starter you also get a lobster tail ! And to top it off dessert!!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Red cake tiramisu (I forget the name of it but I'll post a picture of it, point and just ask!) it just literally melts on ur mouth it was AMAAAAZEBALLS!!!! Between 4 girls and a bottle of wine $80 including tip , for each girl ! NOT too shabby, definitely worth the fine dining experience !

Off the bat, the prime rib is cooked to perffffffection! Classic Surf and Turf! Prime rib was delicious - medium rare is best. The prime rib was very tender and fatty. It had enough fat that you could just cut it off and still enjoy other fatty parts =] The mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly. I just wish I had more gravy to basks in its glory. TIP! DIP THE YORKSHIRE BREAD IN THE MASHED POTATOES! Paired with Lobster! Do forget to pour the butter over the lobster. Best Tip, do not over eat on the bread! Enjoy the steak! Server tried to up sell a lot, if he had just given us free coffee instead of charging 3.75 it would have went straight to the tip. best advice, say something like "oh coffee is usually like 4 dollars but it's on the house for your celebration etc..." Desserts, we had turtle rock and the trifle! Both were very delicious, the turtle rock was like giant crunch ice cream bar and the trifle is like soft and fluffy strawberry cake. Although it's a little too sweet for my taste. I went during Dine LA, bill is 98 post tax and 120 post tip. Valet is 6 dollars, more like 10 because you should tip Valet if you like. 130 for two! Great date spot, go to lacma lights after =] it's nearby

Lawry's is classic LA. They are known for their Prime Rib and it is incredible. After my first visit, 5 years ago, I was so impressed that I ended up having my wedding here two years ago. The food is exceptional, the service is incredible and the atmosphere is classy without being intimidating. Be sure to try their creamed corn..its awesome. Also, if you are going for a special occasion be sure to let them know as they will always throw in something free to celebrate. The staff is consistantly great, always willing to go the extra mile for you. Their VIP program (frequent guest program) earns you points for every dollar you spend. I believe for every $250 you spend you get a $25 gift card. Well worth it! Highly recommend.

Everything at Lawry's is always fan-freakin-tastic! I've been here several times now over the last decade and the food is perfectly cooked every time. The service, prime rib, lobster, creamed corn and spinach were all amaaaaaaazing! Highly recommended :)

I read reviews from 3 months ago. Some of these posts could not have been true. Maybe they got a bad batch? I ate there last year during restaurant week. The food was superb! Tender, flavorful prime rib, the best mashed potatoes and let's not even leave out the york shire pudding. The food was piping hot, I love how they bring food on a cart, served hot from the carving station.. Lawrys is what's known in LA. I can't accept that sine said the food was terrible. .. really? They set the standard for prime rib....looking fwd to restaurant week 2015!!!

The vegas location is way better. Service here was lacking and the server and manager/supervisor took it upon themselves on which of my rewards to redeem. I visited specifically to use certain rewards which they didn't redeem and those expire very soon. So now I have to contact corporate because of their mistake! I don't understand why nobody ever takes responsibility for their faults. I hope they contact me and make it up because I am going to get my money back!

There should be no debating whether to come to Lawry's or not. You HAVE to come. This place has it all...Great ambiance, service and food. If you're looking to splurge on a nice dinner, Lawry's is your spot. A reservation is a must and we still had to wait 5-10 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Luckily there are delicious meatballs & potato chips to munch on while you wait. Plenty of lobby seating too. The decor makes it feel as if you're at the original Lawry's back in the day. We were fortunate to have an entire booth to ourselves in the back corner. *I've been here before where we were sandwiched in between 2 tables with barely any space.* Our server, Ms. Coty, was AWESOME. Extremely friendly, knew the menu like the back of her hand (especially the wines) and made us feel right at home in her 50's costume. The bread and cheese that was immediately served was fantastic. The butter was out of this world. Normally I stay away from butter but it was irresistible! The bread came out nice and hot too. The spinning salad is a spectacle. The way it's prepared table side tastes as good as it looks. Nicely paired with the Lawry's crushed pepper. So then the main dish comes out. A cart comes by and your server tells the meat man what to cut you. I got the California cut (& a lobster tail) with mashed potatoes & gravy and the yorkshire pudding. HEAVEN ON EARTH. The pudding is ridiculously good and I feel like I could eat that for days but I had to get to my prime rib. It was soft, tender and amazing. The lobster tail was also very tasty. For dessert, we were served green tea with lemon and our choice of dessert. We got the citrus olive oil cake and the warm chocolate fantasy cake. I thought the citrus olive oil cake was mediocre. You can definitely taste a lot of the citrus but it was a little too dull for my liking. On the other hand, the fantasy cake was delicious. Paired with vanilla ice cream, it was a perfect way to cap a great meal. TIP: If you aren't already a VIP Lawry's member, I'd sugggest signing up. Yes, you do have to pay $25 upfront but you get that $25 back right away in store credit. Every time you dine at a Lawry's location, including the Carvery locations, you earn points which eventually turns into $$$. If you're planning on eating at Lawry's again, this definitely doesn't hurt at all. Kudos to Ms. Coty for this recommendation!

I came on a weekday to try their Dine LA special. I was surprised to see so many tourists here. Although it was busy, the wait was't too bad. They have a lounge area with complementary house meatball and potato chips. You can munch on them while you wait. The bar is also great to try. Upon seating, they start you off with bread and their famous spinning bowl salad. The carver then prepares each plate at your table side on a carving cart/station. I ordered the "California Cut" Roasted Prime Rib which is 6 oz and is paired with their broiled lobster tail. You can have the option of upgraded to the "Lawry's Cut" for only $5 more. It was a huge portion for me already. They come with a side of mash potato which was really plain and tasted a bit watered down. The cream corn would probably be the best choice. For dessert I had the Traditional English Trifle. This reminds me of a strawberry shortcake. It consists of strawberry and raspberries layered in cream topped with strawberry syrup and whip cream. The flavor was good but the strawberry syrup was overpowering. The Creme Brûlée would be a much lighter choice. I really enjoyed their Dine LA menu and can't wait to go back!
