Service was poor, waitress never checked on us. Nothing special, or good, about the specialty rolls. Lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh. Won't be going back.

We had to throw most of our delivery order away. The fish was not even close to fresh - the texture was hard (previously frozen) and the flavor was fishy. Even the miso soup was disappointing. And the delivery took 90 minutes.

This was my first time visit. I used to come to this restaurant when it was M.E.N.U. Sushi. My daughter got a very good sized bento box for $13.95 (of which she had food to take home). I got the Sakurai (sp?) roll and an order of nigiri hamachi. The roll was good. The pieces of hamachi were quite large the rice smaller so a nice fish to rice ratio. We also ordered a large cold unfiltered saki which was very reasonably priced at $4.95. While I've had higher quality sushi/sashimi in my life, I found the value of this restaurant quite good. The decor is nice. The service was good. I will be back. Check it out!

great donburi, and sushi tooo wpuld definateluy hho there again and bring friends with us
(5)Paulina D.
If you like sushi that is a good deal, this place is for you. If you like good sushi, this place is not for you. The sushi combos are cool if you're craving sushi on a budget, but you get what you pay for. 28 pieces of sushi and sashimi for $32 is not a bad price. However, it's a little lackluster. Not fresh or shovel-down-your-throat amazing. Happy hour prices are pretty good for drinks and sushi. Maybe they want you to drink more so the sushi tastes better than mediocre.

This place is amazing. The oyster shooters they have are so good and they seem to never be out when i ask for them :) the food arrives within good time and they always check in at the right time. Its not as busy during the lunch hour so seating is not a problem either. Love this place :) new favorite Sushi spot!

Walked in every employee was on their phone, we were sat at a dirty table. Took 10 minutes just to order, after ordering they forgot to give us our tea and we waited 15 minutes for glasses of water. Our server stopped working and went on lunch break, a man who I believe was the manger brought us our food and just slammed it on the table, no eye connection. They never came back to check on us, all were sitting on their phones. They only came to take our money. No tip given.

I got the duck ramen and it was completely Flavorless. I had to add salt and sriracha and some other stuff to make it edible. Not to mention the ramen was already super soggy. DUCK RAMEN FAIL. I also got the caterpillar roll which was... Edible. Nothing special about it, just a very mediocre caterpillar roll. I wouldn't come back. Eck.

I don't know why this place has bad reviews, I've eaten here with my friend during happy hour (2-5pm everyday! $2 hot sake, $3 sashimi!! ), also gotten takeout and delivery. All good experiences. When I got delivery it met the expected time of 30-40 min. Maybe I'm just not a sushi snob, I just like decent sushi at decent prices. For a comparison, I love California Roll on 4th Ave in San Mateo but can't stand Old Town Sushi or Joy Sushi.. (for cost vs quality ratio).
(4)Boris C.
This place is hit or miss. At best, they have pretty good salmon sashimi (and other sashimi), and decent uni. At worst, their uni is inedible and their tuna smells funky. They use low grade fish, so don't expect good tuna or fatty cuts. On the flip side, they have free delivery, pretty fast service, and low prices (plus freebies for orders of $25+ and $35+).
(3)Dierdre D.
These guys were great!! I had to order sushi for a work social and they were on top of it. The food was fantastic as well as they were on time... I will order from them again, and thank you for everything!!
(4)Robyn D.
This was the worst Sushi I've ever had! They delivered to my home. It was not fresh, smelled and tasted awful. I had to Throw out the rest. Asked for a refund, being we did eat some. can't send back the few pieces we did eat. They refused to refund my money with out the full order! I cant give them the pieces we did eat! Don't ever eat there! Food is beyond vial! I hope we don't get ill! Costumer service is terrible. Worst food I've ever eaten!
(1)H L.
I've been here a few times. Oyako donburi: I never thought I'd find a Japanese restaurant that rendered this dish inedible. The chicken breast tasted like it'd been frozen after being fried--not good. Barely any egg. Yama Curry: 95% aforementioned frozen fried chicken breast with one thin layer of mostly potatoes and some curry on top. Only go here because it's close to where I work. Would never go here by choice if it wasn't so close.
(2)Nicki H.
I was sorely disappointed, mostly in the service but also the portions. Ordered sashimi, Menu says 4 pieces for $6.95, Menu online says 5 pieces for $6.95. I got 3 pieces of each of the fish I ordered. The fish was decent, but not as good as when I would order from the restaurant that previously occupied this space (Yume). They also got my bf's order wrong and forgot to give me the side of rice I ordered. I miss Yume. they had the best salmon i've ever eaten.
(2)Emi O.
Delicious food. Only one waitress taking orders. TWO Waitresses serving the food. Lunch specials are good. A lot of food served with each Obento box lunch. 3- items for $8.95 or $9.95. Includes Salad, Soup and Rice. Open Every day. 11am.- 9pm. Mon- Sat. & Sun. 12pm-9pm. Free Delivery. From 2pm. - 5pm. Happy Hour. ENJOY Beer and Sake for $2.00!
(5)Angie W.
I got a flyer in the mail from Yama Sushi that said they have free delivery. That inspired us to try them out because we love sushi and it's even better when it can be delivered. Unfortunately, what we got for our money wasn't that great. We spent almost $100 on dinner and what was delivered was not $100 worth of food. The portions were very small. The quality didn't look as fresh as they could be. And the packaging didn't enhance our experience. It's too bad because we were looking forward to a local sushi joint that delivered.
(1)Michelle I.
Food was a little overpriced but good but service was awful. We were the only family there for about a half and hour before one other family came in and we had to wave a server down pretty much anytime we needed anything. I ordered a 4 dollar unagi handroll and asked for brown rice and was charged 2 extra dollars, not worth it.
(2)Rashmi P.
Great food and at reasonable prices ! The baked mussels , seafood soup and the California rolls are awesome ! Delivery is quick , and the food is hot . Except tho , the delivery guy kinda asks you the tip in your face kinda thing , so yeah .. But ya good stuff ! Oh only one tiny thing tho is that I found the side dipping soy sauce kinda salty ish , anyway overall good food!
(4)E K.
The food is ok, but portion size is relatively large compared to other Japanese restaurants. We usually order online and go pick it up out as we do not have much time to cook or go out.
(3)Kevin L.
Came here for grand opening and was ready to order before even walking through the door.. Simple spacious and clean would be one way to describe the interior of this new location. Great lay out on menu and service was fast and friendly. Greeted with a smile once I walk through the door and receive tea as soon as I sat down to decide on my order to go. Hamachi Kama as well as their bay scallop roll niners roll and spider roll is delicious! Beef sukiyaki is a must try and not very common among Japanese restaurants and they DELIVER!!! I will be coming back very soon Thank You
(5)Kathie C.
One star for: Free Delivery. Awesome. I was in a pinch, I'd forgotten my badges and was working late...so I couldn't just run out and grab something or I'd be locked out. Yama Sushi to the delivery rescue! One star for: ease of ordering and accuracy. Super easy to order online, pay online (and include tip and everything!), give directions, make specific requests, etc. My order arrived on time and perfect. NO more stars because of the: food. The fish was average. It was fresh enough to not smell funny but not fresh enough to be soft and buttery (the shiro maguro was actually still a little frozen! Boo!). I did eat all the fish. The seaweed salad was old and I couldn't actually finish it because it made me gag a little. The poke cucumbers were gross; spongy and bitter. Only ate the tuna from the poke. Not likely to patronize again, but glad they were there for me on a hungry late night at the office.
(2)Domenica D.
I think this place opened recently, and I would have never guessed. Great customer service over the phone, they delivered to my hotel, very inexpensive, but the food was great. I had sashimi, rice, tempura, California roll, soup, salad, tuna poke, edemame, and delivery for $30!. I am from L.A but if in the Bay Area this place is a must!
(4)Yilise L.
We ordered delivery from here a few times - free delivery! yay for new puppy owners that don't like to leave their puppy home and go out for dinner. Really like their rolls, they are one of the few sushi joints that actually use uni in sushi rolls. I haven't seen any other sushi joint that does that and believe me I tried a ton of sushi joints, Love both variations with the ikura, very unique flavor. Also tried their ramen with the duck soup, extremely flavorful. I finished the ramen and saved the soup. Cooked some noodles in it the next day and it made instant ramen noodles taste so yummy! Definitely will continue to order from them, it's our fall back dinner option!
(5)Elizabeth H.
Ordered this sushi through grub hub. It tastes like sushi from a grocery store. That's all I have to say about it.
(2)Billy T.
Bad tasting sushi, and now I have an upset stomach. I think this is the first time i've ever thrown away sushi. I ordered online and it took them an hour and a half to get it to me. Will never get their sushi ever again.
(1)Loren S.
Not good. We figured we would stop in since it was new. Wow, we regret it I order the salmon teriyaki...let's just say it was basically leftover bits of salmon burned and dried to a crisp. Rest of food was meh at best, I don't think we will be coming back
(1)Brig C.
I have tried all the sushi restaurants in Belmont/San Carlos in search of a favorite go-to local spot and was always let down before Yama Sushi opened. Hello delicious! I knew they had some street cred because they also have a restaurant in SF. I love all the sushi rolls here. Spicy tuna, New York roll, rock-n-roll, and the una-tem roll are my favorite standards here and the specialty rolls are great too. I've gotten take-out many times and they are always fast & efficient with the orders. Not to mention, they are beyond reasonable with their pricing. I hope they stick around because Belmont needs them!
(5)Sarah T.
Food was good enough for me! Delivery. Wait time was a little long. No worries.
(4)Tim N.
Love this place! The joint next door is always full, but this place kills it. Try something new and keep this place going people.
(5)Aniko N.
My review is only for bento box only. I ordered Salmon, and veggy Tempura. It was decent with big portion. If you order more than 25 dollars you get a free roll, which was pretty good. All I can say is not bad for delivery. Best of all, they deliver to Redwood city under an hour. I would definitely order again.
(4)Mariana V.
Horrible service if your not Asia's don't come to this restaurant because you will be discriminated....this people have no clue of what customer service is.. Food took for ever when it was the only customer is the restaurant the server could not even bring the soup......
(1)Rosemary G.
Although food was a little on the cold side but which was completely understandable for a delivery in the rain the food was excellent . The customer service was great food was great i would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Also people were extremely friendly great customer service.
(4)brian s.
Four stars based on price and delivery option. I've ordered mostly roles and a couple of teriyaki dinners. All of it was good. I would order more often but the amount of mayonnaise mixed into their crab is a little hard to take.
(4)T L.
My review is based on take out/delivery. Our order was called in around 8:15pm on a Saturday and consisted of sushi rolls, bento boxes, and stir fried udon for 8 adults. The food arrived 20 mins after we called it in, and they were accommodating in providing four separate receipts so we knew how much to reimburse our friend who put the entire order on his credit card when it was called in. Overall quality, price, and service were decent for food delivered and being in the neighborhood.
(3)Rebecca M.
I am all about small businesses succeeding and hate to give bad reviews but this place has got to be one of the worst sushi spots I ever tried. I didn't think anyone could mess up making a California roll but this place did just that. The California roll was filled with mayo and very salty. Not very tasty. Also I asked them to not put sesame seed on the roll and they did anyway. Had to drive back to get them to correct the order. The rock n roll was ok. Husband's California hand roll also filled with tons of mayo and looked like something an amateur put together. This was a take out order so no idea what their service is like. We Won't be coming back here again.
(2)Joe N.
Made the mistake to order here twice in a week. First time was good as seen in prior review. Today was a disaster. Ordered all sushi this time around. ALL GROSS... they stuffed 4-5 rolls in one box. All drowning in very salty unagi sauce - literally dripping sauce when you pick up a piece.... "crab" still too much mayo and salty...... guess they like to add salt to everything... no good. Won't return. Darn.. thought I found a decent delivery sushi but I guess this does not exist. :(
(1)Wailun Eugene W.
this is one of the places that i order from Eat24 quite frequently, maybe once every two weeks. their service is great because there is no delivery fee, unlike the other japanese place. this place is great because everytime we order they throw in something for free, either a crispy roll or a poke tuna salad thingy. the turn around time is quite long, we have waited up to 70min for delivery and we are only 15min away from the restaurant. we have ordered from the restaurant by waling in and the wait is a lot shorter. maybe they're slow because of traffic i'm not sure. if they were a bit faster in delivery, i would have given a five star!
(4)Shawna B.
Walking in this place is clean, nice looking. Very sweet & attentive staff. I ordered the BBQ pork ramen. It was good. The broth didn't have A lot of flavor. The lunch portion was small, but enough. I'll come back to try the happy hour & sushi.
(4)Dennis B.
I order online on eat24. I order Yama Bento Box for dinner with: Sashimi (2 Sake,2 Tuna) California Roll (6 pcs) Chicken Teriyaki. I tip 20%. I am very hungry, I get order at door very quickly, not disappoint. I sit down to eat food and see I have Salmon not Chicken. I no like Salmon Teriyaki, very disappoint. Wish I no tip 20%.
(3)Molly E.
I ordered the caterpillar roll and the spine was still in the eel and scratched the inside of my mouth.
(2)Andy S.
Dreadful delivery experience -- the food came over an hour late and the restaurant was neither helpful nor apologetic. The food was surprisingly good, I hope they get their act together. Totally disappointed.
(1)Sherry W.
Good neighborhood eats. Decent food and very reasonable price. I like the hand rolls!
(4)M M.
Good food. Quick delivery. The wings are really tasty. Sushi was good and tasted really fresh.
(4)H T.
I can honestly say this is the worst sushi I've ever had. The Hamachi hand roll had only a couple pieces of fish in it. The salmon in the Alaska Roll was definitely not fresh and they must have given me a slice off the edge or something--it was tough, not the melt-in-your-mouth texture it should have been. I've never had such atrocious sushi. To top it off, when I paid the delivery guy, he assumed I didn't want change, and when I asked him for change, he claimed he didn't have any. So he finagled his way into getting a 25% tip and the food sucked! Never again!
(1)Ch B.
Well, they deliver. Each of the dishes we tried were bland. California rolls with more mayo than any of us had seen before. Bland gyoza, and only barely pan fried on one side. The consensus of our group was that we expended them fried. Chicken teriyaki seemed dry and sweet. The sushi in general just wasn't worth going back for. It pains me to not be able to endorse a new sushi delivery place mid peninsula, but alas, it just isn't worth a second visit.
(2)Jane V.
Went recently to celebrate an office birthday. It had just re-opened as Yama Sushi, but NOTHING about the space had changed from previous owners. Service was super spotty and SLOW and there was only one other table filled. I won't speak for the others in our group, but my food was almost gross--tasteless, boring and had weird after taste. Big disappointment and almost embarrassed for the birthday boy! Give me 5 Guys down the street please .
(1)Mika S.
Ordered delivery. Everything was good, fresh, reasonably priced and delivery came within the hour. The standout was the hot and spicy baked cali roll topped with scallops and tobiko. Don't be fooled- menu says "bay scallops" but there use large, fleshy scallops. Wonderful surprise as I'm not huge on bay scallops or shrimp as they seem like fillers. Only criticism is that tuna poke didn't have avo but that's not a big enough deal to even subtract a star...
(5)Jerry G.
DO NOT order the fried Yama Wings...they are absolutely disgusting. OVerall, the food is definitely NOT worth the money.
(2)Angela F.
The food is pretty good and they deliver. It's hard to find a good sushi resto that delivers. My husband I and make our order through the seamless app. This is the 4th time in a row the delivery has taken about an 1hr 30min. Not worth it!
(2)Philip L.
Dependably good food, as proven by taking my family here (or take out) several times. Salmon teriyaki is fresh and yummy, hamachi kama is solid, and portions are good. Normally not much of a wait, perfect place to feed a large group some good food but dont want to deal with crowds. Plenty of parking too. Glad to have this place in belmont.
(4)D D.
Ordered in and it was GREAT. I had the potato croquettes and didn't want to share. The gyoza was equally delicious. Ordered curry chicken which has potato and carrot in it, and comes with rice and salad as sides. Yum. Can wait to heat up the leftovers tomorrow. Delivery time was reasonable for the heart of dinnertime. 40 minutes to RWS.
(5)Katya K.
I'm so disappointed with this place. Got sashimi combination, it was dry and not fresh. After 10 minutes of eating it I had to use the bathroom, vomited and now have a horrible pain in my stomach. The waitress couldn't speak very much English so she grabbed a manager. The manager, this very young kid tried to prove that it's fresh. He gave me a lot of attitude and told me to get up and look at their fish (in horrible stomach pains) and that the fish is fresh everyday. I wish I took a picture but God it was gross. The meet was so dry it was failing apart at the lines and smelled like low tide. I love sashimi and know the sushi places around the peninsula. I know what sashimi should look, smell and taste like and this didn't come close. They then tried to charge me for the fish because he said I ate it (then threw it all up) so he absolutely refused to take it off the check. This isn't the first time I've been here and to keep things non biased, it's been good in the past but today was infuriating. Customer treatment was junk and he questioned every bit of my situation in disbelief. If this business wants to stay afloat I'd say get better fish and treat your customers with respect. Not coming back.
(1)Erika S.
I'm not sure why this place only has three stars and it's usually not crowded in the evenings when I go. They have the best sashimi and the best rolls, they're fresh and they're tasty and the price is just right. I was even debating on whether I should write the review as I don't want everyone to all Of a suddenly crowd this place but then again I don't want them to close. And can you believe they deliver?? Amazing!
(5)Fe C.
Good food at reasonable prices, clean restaurant, good for groups. More Japanese authentic than the Japanese restaurant down the block. Sashimi/sushi rolls are typical. Unagi had bones in them the two different times I ordered, so I don't order that here anymore. Ordering online for pickup is convenient. Probably wouldn't travel out of my way to eat here but it's a decent place to eat Japanese food if you're in the area.
(3)Dan M.
Low quality fish meets even lower skills of "sushi chefs." No good reason to eat here
(1)Ricky S.
Never Again: I went here w/ my friend for a quick bite before seeing a movie. In the past we order pick-up and the food is pretty good. I will never be eating in the restaurant again. Multiple times we had to ask for our water to be filled and service was so slow that I had to pull out my personal water bottle and refill our drinks. As I refilled for the 3rd time our waitress came over and asked if we needed anything (seeing me fill up our empty glasses). After we were done eating I checked the clock and realized that we were running late. After telling staff members we needed to hurry they talked loudly to each other, didn't really care, and didn't hurry to help us. The WORST part... We were the ONLY people in the restaurant at that time.
(1)Nilay P.
Great food and some really good Japanese beer! The spicy tuna roll and fire bomb are really good. Other reviews say the service is not so great during peak hours, but we went around 4pm and the service was great too.
(5)Mike B.
The place was awesome from start to finish. We came during peak hours expecting to end up waiting for awhile since we came with a large party, but were seating before we were able to whip out our phones. Drinks and appetizers came quick, followed shortly by our orders which was impressive since they were pretty busy. Food was great. I an odd, but pleasant way, I really liked the taste of the rice, but could quite figure out what it was... Just really good. The hamachi in particular was really good and friends were loving the rolls, though I can recall what they ordered.
(5)Anton R.
Delicious California rolls, Miso Soup (although small portion), and great quality fish! And they were pretty fast. I have to say this is probably my favorite place to go to for sushi in this area. The interior design is pretty damn cool. I'll definitely be coming back more often.
(5)Dada E.
Came in for happy hour.. Nigori wasn't overpriced and seafood was fresh! Had UNI, salmon sashimi (good cut size)- dragon roll was done right with just the right amount of crisp in it.
(4)Sonia O.
This place suck. If could i would give them NO star at all. Thier food is too salty. We order as group from work on Friday 7/10/15 all our food was extremely salty. I don't how this place is still in business if all thier
(1)Tina T.
Quick service. Awesome HH. Staff is nice and personable. Hot food and sushi are fresh. You can't beat seaweed salad for $2, and it's not the tiny portion, they give you a full portion of seaweed salad during HH. They don't skimp on quantity nor quality. Same goes for the alcohol during HH. Overall awesome experience and def on of my go to sushi places.
(5)Krys L.
I have eaten here a few times. They are very friendly and their food is also very tasty. Everything else seems to close during lunch time so that's a major plus... Being from Florida that is not an issue we run into often.
(5)Bob F.
Been here once. Nice staff, but the Unagi was the fishiest and worst I have had. I will not be back. The Sushi Monster nearby is much better. And it looks like (based on the Yelp reviews) this place has been open for about a year. There is is sign in the window that says "Grand Opening". Man, that is one of the longest Grand Openings that I have ever seen...
(2)Heather H.
Order takeout from GrubHub! Service was prompt...almost too prompt as they arrived before the scheduled time and I wasn't home yet. Anyway, the man delivering called me and I told him to leave it in front of the door and I'll be home soon. His response "Soo, no tip?" Me: "Oh I thought I added it through PayPal" Him: "No, so do you have cash or want to add it?" Me thinking...I'm sorry but isn't it rude to ask for tip? I didn't purposely leave it off and ended up adding it but yeah... Food was decent. Got chicken katsu and gyoza. Gyoza was pretty flavorful, katsu a little dry (makes sense they use white meat), miso soup was bland. Long story short, good prices for the amount of food. Enough to feed 2 people for $20, butttttt haven't tried the sushi so my opinion could change!!
(3)Ashley M.
I got the Veggie Dragon Roll and Veggie Combo Roll...yum! The Veggie Dragon is so good with the crunchy fried pumpkin. Delivery was pretty quick.
(4)Billy B.
Ordered thru grubhub.. Sushi was excellent... Fresh and portiions were large. Asked for extra things and all were delivered. Walu, Sake, Ikrua and Hamachi were all delicious.
(4)Kim D.
It's alright. Not too expensive but I feel like I could make better sushi. Only good thing is that it's cheap and I think they have online ordering.
(3)Jamie S.
I love this place for local Sushi delivery. The food always gets delivered quickly so the sushi is fresh and the hot items are still warm. Everything here so far has been delicious. They have a great soft shell crab, sushi rolls, tempura and a great option of menu items. They are reasonably priced for the quality of food. Today I am going to try the Poke for the first time but I am sure it will be good.
(5)Connie Y.
This place just opened a few days ago. It's the sister store from the Yama sushi place on Ocean Ave in San Francisco. My family came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We had 9 adults and 4 kids so we were a handful to deal with. The staff still treated us very well! With such a big group, we were able to try A LOT of food! Overall, everything is delicious! Some favorites include: 1. Dragon roll 2. Albacore tataki 3. Chasu ramen 4. Peacock roll 5. Kama wings (like chicken karage) I wish I could name everything we tried but there was just so much. I generally like fried rolls and rolls with fried food in them (like shrimp tempura). Those were good. The Chasu was tender and juicy. It wasn't dry at all so it made the ramen taste so good. The hamachi carpaccio that we tried reminded me more of sashimi because it was a little thicker than I would have liked but it still tasted good. I like sashimi anyways! The Yama wings are like chicken karage. The meat comes off the bone easy too. This place has a pretty extensive menu so you have a lot to choose from. Prices are very decent. We spent about $20 per person give or take because we shared everything. Happy hour 1:00pm-5:00pm with all beer and sake at $2.00. They also deliver if you order more than $15 worth of food if you're in the area but are lazy to get out of the house.
(4)Isabella E.
We came here on the first day. The service was great , but the food was just ok. We ordered the tuna poke, and while it looked pretty, 90 percent of it was cucumber and only a little tuna. in the description on the menu it just says tuna not mostly cucumbers . That disappointed me very much . The sushi was ok not the best but not the worst . We ordered a soup and salad and everything else came before the salad , we tried to cancel the salad but they said it was to late and brought out two huge salad plats with just ice burg lettuce. Most places just give u a small salad with the miso soup , but not this place. The bill was very high too. I don't think i will go back, the food is just not worth the price
(3)Spider F.
I'm very happy with Yama for sushi delivery. They meet the expectations for the price, location, taste, presentation and time for delivery. I've ordered delivery about 8 times and have had a consistently positive experience. They once forgot wasabi and drove it to my house immediately after I called the store.
(4)BiBiamn V.
Good sushi and a cozy little restaurant. Everything was so good and super fresh. I look forward to coming back soon!!
(5)Nadia N K.
Ordered take out. 70 mins later I call & he asks me to call back as they need to run a credit card....so I do. Finally I find out my order is on its way Quality of sushi. C-, had 2 spicy tuna had rolls. Tuna was nasty. The California roll wasn't bad. Spicy hamachi roll was stringy, I threw it away. They forgot my mochi ball order as I was craving so egging sweet. Won't be calling them again.
(2)Edr T.
today I went to this place. I ordered a chicken teryiaki and alaska roll. 1. the chicken tasted like old meat. 2. customer service was not too good. the servers are cold and unwelcoming. I don't go this place again.
(1)Sarah L.
Sushi that delivers, I think yes! I ordered delivery from Yama Sushi through grub hub. Free delivery and a free crunch roll for orders $25 and over. I had the miso soup, green rice tea, philly roll, California roll, the rock and roll, and vegetable tempura. I asked for brown rice instead of white and they called me to tell me it was an extra $3.00 per roll, what ?!?! So I declined, got normal rice, was satisfied but deduction of a star because $3.00 for a change of rice per roll is ridiculous! Anyways, the miso soup was a bit too salty and the green rice tea (a favorite of mine anywhere else) was quite bland. :/ The free crunch roll was the tastiest, the Philly roll was kind of warm (probably due to it being surrounded by warm things), the California and rock and roll were super tasty as well. The tempura was alright, cooked well except for one piece was a little mooshy, the shrimp was divine though. Overall I would probably order again AND he actually found my location/apartment (every other delivery guy gets lost!) so that was a huge plus. He was also late, but that was to be expected since it is extremely hard to find. I recommend all the rolls, hold off on the miso soup and green rice tea.

LOVE this place! I've only gotten the bento box here, but it is always delicious! The sushi is fresh, and they deliver with an order over $16.00. They said it would take between 30-45 minutes but they definitely took less than 15 minutes! It's convenient (for me), priced fair and large portions. I can't say much about the customer service because I have only ordered out.

How the mighty have fallen. In just one year Yama's gone from a promising new and above average restaurant, to a meh below average joint. Stopped by today for the first time in a while (we moved out of the area, so it's not a local joint anymore). The food was meh, at best. Add to that the fact that they forgot an item, yet put it on the bill, and had to get it taken off. So many choices for good Japanese, crossing this one off the list.

I came here yesterday for lunch with my mom and we each got the lunch bento box plus the salmon skin roll. Very good tasting and portions for the money so I liked it a lot.

I wish I could give the customer service zero stars. The food is good, so ONLY ORDER TO GO. I went with my friend today and there was no one in the restaurant besides us. The waitress shouldn't even be called a waitress. I'll just refer to her as the lady who works there. She was sitting eating food, and talking to her coworkers instead of checking on us. We kept running out of water and she wouldn't come refill it. My friend brought a bottle of water with her and by the time we left she had emptied that into her glass. We had to literally call the woman over. After we finished and she took our plates, we sat there for 10 MINUTES WITH NO BILL IN SIGHT. We were the only customers there for heavens sake!!! We had to tell a man there we needed our bill and we heard him go in the back and yell back and forth with her. While we sat there and she got our check, she yelled across the restaurant laughing and carrying on. Even though the food was good, i regret having to pay as much as I did because the service was so terrible.

Great free delivery through online ordering via eat24. Only sushi place delivering on Peninsula. Food always arrives fresh. And you get a free roll through the online coupon.

Sushi is ok, rolls are large quality of fish was all right. Ramen was basic, noodles weren't that great. I had won ton soup with pork broth, broth was good but the won tons were terrible. Couldn't eat them. The manager said it was shiitake mushrooms, the flavor I had was sour pork/chx. Didn't want to roll the dice. It's to bad apparently they have another restaurant in SF. Can't imagine them doing well in SF if the food quality is the same as it is in Belmont.

Just ok. Have ordered take out a few times. Not the best quality fish in general, preparation is so-so, delivery is usually prompt and friendly. Wish I could rate it higher but imo sushi is one of those things where ingredient quality makes a huge difference, and unfortunately, it's not quite up to the mark at yama.

Service: 1/10 Ordered on eat-24, delivery took a hell of a long time. I requested that since I i'm unable to eat the california roll ingredients that they be substituted with a fish. The person who called me told me they'd add 2 dollars to each request for that 'privilege'. I said I wasn't willing to pay that much, i'd be glad to pay 1 dollar extra, and he responded that "this is not a bartering system", to which I responded to please cancel the order. "okay, what if I did it for 1 dollar?" guess it is a bartering system then. Quality: 3/10. It is edible, which earns it a star. It doesn't get you sick, which earns another star. However, i usually rank my last 8 stars for sushi on the quality, and this is where it falls pitifully short. The rice is dry and has a horrible consistency, the fish tastes extremely bland and the overall texture and feel of the makimono is not what you'd want to eat. Honestly this is one of those times you wonder if you should finish what you ordered, but ultimately do since hey, you paid for it. Overall: 2/10

I ordered chirashi as I usually do at different restaurants to compare. First thing I noticed was Furikake on slightly warm rice. First bad sign. I guess the owner is not Japanese. Then the sashimi quality was not good. But it is cheaper than other restaurants. I can get better sashimi at Nijiya for less, though. My husband had bento box with teriyaki chicken and beef. Thin slices of chicken and low quality beef with super sweet teriyaki sauce. So I don't think we will go back there. Our first waiter was not friendly, but the 2nd guy who came out to check on us was very friendly.

I ordered from their website for delivery. The delivery was right on time and the order was complete. I also really appreciate that they had plenty of utensils and napkins in the bag as well. The food was of the highest quality and freshness. I was happy that the hot food was still hot even with the delivery. Our order included a combination of edamame, gyoza, chicken, beef & mackerel teriyaki, various rolls, salad & soup. Everything was great. I would definitely order again for delivery and will take the opportunity to try the service in the restaurant.

I'm a person who never gets sick from food. After ordering the tempura mix I threw it all out a couple hours later. The sushi apparently was acceptable. My wife didn't get sick from that. But for me it's the first time I vomit in 4years or something

Completely average. Had a take out order while working nearby, and not only was everything totally generic, it wasn't even executed all that well either. Bento box, standard. Contents were: Salmon / smoked salmon nigiri - distinctly average. Fish not very fresh or flavorsome - marks on the underside of the fish where it had been poorly skinned. Rice tasteless and not enough for the fish to sit on. Chicken katsu - I had asked for this to be served with curry sauce. What arrived was a tasteless, vegetabley soup-like gravy. I used to think that there was no such thing as a bad curry sauce, but I've been proven wrong. Absolutely nothing 'curry' about it - just awful. Side rice - the most dense ball of rice I've ever seen. Inedible without significant quantities of added moisture, but as I mentioned the curry sauce I was counting on was awful (a tiny portion of awful at that), and I wasn't about to go dribbling the side-salad dressing over my rice. I'll save the calories, thanks. Wasabi - mine arrived as a thin, dribble of green inside the box. Other people's was dense, radioactive green. With so much choice around, I can't think of any reason why I'd ever go back here.

Pretty bad. Unfriendly service, sashimi was crunchy bc it was frozen and they served it without it being properly thawed. Chicken tasted burnt. Tempura hard as fried rock. Waitress threw menus and food down on table. How is this place still in business?
