I was craving meatloaf so out to Mimi's we went. It tasted like they took it two weeks ago, froze it, pulled it out two days ago, microwaved it with their dirty sponges, then burnt it on a dirty grill. But they threw some really crappy brown gravy on it to hide the burn marks.

Had a very nice lunch with Lynn as our server. She was very upbeat and a pleasure to have serving us. I ended up forgetting a to go dessert and when I called about it the hostess Theresa was kind enough to offer another one for next time since I wasn't able to go back and pick it up. Terrific customer service from those girls and it made for a great experience.

Mimi's Cafe makes some good food. Okay, I have not tried to many different items on their menu. I always order one of there signature salads like the Bleu cheese and walnut salad or the Asian chopped salad. These salads also come with one of there muffins. I usually get the blueberry muffin or the carrot loaf. The bakery items are delicious. The service has always been quick, attentive, and friendly. The prices are moderate, and the restaurant is clean.

Food was mediocre. Service so bad it became comical - two of the drink orders were wrong, my food was incorrect, my nephews food was incorrect, even the ladies food on the next table was incorrect - they eventually asked for a manager. It seemed like every table in my section had problems. One family got charged for the wrong meal and another couple were completely ignored and when they did request something they were soon forgotten. I use to enjoy Mimi's but now I would rather not bother. The muffin that I took home and had with a glass of milk was the highlight of the whole experience.

Had the all you can eat soup and salad today. Food is generally good, but the service was very good. Our server, Logan, kept us informed of any delay and progress. I was very impressed.

We stopped in after a long day, and it took them a few minutes to realize we'd walked in. No problem, it was pretty late anyway. The server was really pleasant & attentive. The prices are a bit steep and options limited unless you're looking for a heavy and rich meal. I ordered the Quiche, and while it was delicious it was just too rich for me. I would definitely go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice of place to dine.

Much better service since the last time we were there. I don't know if management changed or came on a good day but we definitely got seated right away. We had a very enthusiastic and attentive server. Menu changed but still had the honey oat bran muffin we like. I like the new changes and will definitely come back again for breakfast.

Yesterday, I came here with coworkers to have a holiday lunch. I've been to Mimi's Cafe in Los Feliz and Huntington Beach before, but never here in Bakersfield yet...until yesterday. Given that this restaurant is a chain...the store front and interior decorations were the same anywhere. I saw many booths open inside the restaurant, but we were still given a "buzzer" to wait. After about a 10-15 min wait, we were seated at a booth inside. Our waiter was quite friendly and nice / accommodating. I ordered the Seafood Bouillabaisse - a soup filled with potatoes, onion, tomato, scallops, shrimp and mussels. (too bad there were no clams!). The flavoring was tomato-based, salty, and actually tasted decently good. I liked the 2 pieces of buttered toast that came with the soup, as they went well w/ the bouillabaisse. For just $2 more, you can add a side salad or soup to your entree and so I opted for the caesar salad. It was OK. Nice to have some salad with my meal, and the portion was rather big for a "side salad". haha :) Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and glad Mimi's Cafe didn't disappoint!

This place has really gone down the drain in the past few months. My last three visits have started off with a rude and surly hostess. As the restaurant is understaffed, I have had to wait to be seated even when there are many empty tables. It takes forever to be waited on, and it has been necessary to track down the server for refills. The food is still good, but the lack of service made me decide to find a new place to eat. This restaurant is in need of new management or ownership YESTERDAY!

Not as expected from prior visits. We were seated quickly, hostess is welcoming, food was good. You could say I had an episode that doesn't happen to many, just that I wasn't too impressed on how it was handled. While drinking my water noticed that it had a spider, so I waved down the first worker I saw, since my server had not come by in a while, she was nice and informed our server, but no apology was ever made other than just replacing another glass of water without saying a word and moving on to the next table. Wasn't hoping for in anything extra from the incident just felt that it could have been addressed in a more courtesy way rather than ignoring a customer.

This place used to be great. We would eat here all the time, but now it seems to have gone bad. The ambiance is nice and the place is cute, but the food is no better than Denny's and the price's are not cheap. Place seems to be clean and the waitstaff if nice enough. The french onion soup is still really good, but that 's pretty much the only reason I will go back. Too bad.

I had the chicken and fruit spring greens salad; it was the most perfect blend of ingredients I would have never had the creativity to invent. It had strawberries, canaloupe, craisins, and a yummy dressing. The feta cheese was a really nice compliment to it. I'd like to shake the chef's hand who created this masterpiece.

This location is horrible. The host up front was yelling back and forth to his buddies about taking his break. He was loud enough that we could not carry on a conversation while we waited. Waitress did not bring muffin to table EVER. My husband was served the wrong entree, he just accepted it and then she charged us for the incorrect food when we should have been charged for WHAT WE ORDERED! My salad was brought to the table in a FILTHY bowl, it was disgusting. Really, really disappointed, this Mimis gives all the others a bad name.

So we went to Mimi's for dinner about a week ago. They only had one pot pie left, so we settled for that, the kids pasta, the quiche and some soup. Everything was good, besides getting a little duped on the chicken pot pie...it was little low on filling. Out waitress was nice, a big plus. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a low key dinner with not a lot of noise. You can actually have a conversation over good food. They also have a small patio, if you'd rather enjoy our lovely Bakersfield air. Come for breakfast, order a blueberry muffin, and eat it outside on the patio.

I have to say that the food at Mimi's is a hit and miss for me. Sometimes things are good, sometimes slightly above or below good. There service is ok though, when I'm not happy or satisfied with my food they try to make it better for me, and a few times I have had the manager taken an item off my bill so I can't really complain bout the service. I've read some of the other Yelper's reviews and they are completely not satisfied in the negative reviews, so I don't know if they try to please me cause I speak up about what I like/dislike or if they try to please me cause I'm so darn cute......lol ok I was joking at the end but all I can say is express your dislikes and it SHOULD be a better experience for you,hopefully..

We stopped here on our way home as traveled through Bakersfield. We have had both good and horrible Mimi's experiences in different cities. Our server could not have been nicer or more attentive or more helpful; she was super! I knew I just wanted a bowl of soup and not sure of how one tasted; she brought me a sample. My husband ordered the turkey dinner and he said it was VERY good - lots of moist, freshly sliced turkey along w/ mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. He asked for additional gravy and our server brought it promptly. We would not hesitate to return to this Mimi's.

My food is ALWAYS great. This is the first place I think of when I want breakfast or lunch. Love to have mimosas with breakfast. Love the Eggs Benedict. Love the tomato basil soup. Can tent to have a short wait before being deleted but well worth the wait.

This past November 2012, I went to Mimi's Cafe twice within two weeks for breakfast. Once with my girlfriend, the only item that I had different than her was Salsa. That night and the next day had full blown food poisoning. Didn't think anything about it, thought maybe it was the flu going around. So needless to say went back with my husband and the only item I had different than him and my 1 year old was the SALSA!!! Did not eat anything else that whole day about 7 p.m full blown food poisoning all night and all the next day!!! Horrible and will never go back here EVER again!!! I would rate it a 0 if I could!!

Had dinner with my girls here tonight and the food was okay. We all decided to try the salads and everyone was just content with the food. When looking at the menu, there is nothing that jumps out at you and makes you want to grab it. I gave this 2 stars because a glass of any wine is $5.00. Not sure about the limitations of the the deal but it was the best thing about dinner. Not sure what happened with our waitress but she never came back to collect our bills. We had to call over another waitress and she passed it along. I don't think I would go again.

I love Mimi's Cafe the food is delicious . My mother and I had salmon eggs Benedict we both agreed it was delicious. Only bad thing here is the wait very long wait so don't come here extremely hungry because you will have to cry in silence. Waitress was nice though very sweet and attentive can't blame her it was morning rush hour after all.

We got here is say around 9am. It wasn't crowded at all, but we were given a pager for when a table was ready for us. We were seated about 10 minutes later. Since it wasn't busy we were a little frustrated with the wait. We quickly ordered our food, but the wait to receive it was longer than we expected. The muffins were delicious. The food was pretty good but we were irritated with the wait. I'd return in hopes that the wait time to be seated and to receive our food was shorter.

Love love love the new menu. Excellent choices and price point is a good value. We had salmon, pasta, and meatloaf - everybody was happy! And the house wine @ $5. is frosting on the cake. Viva la Mimi's!

Im sorry to say but Mimis has began to go down hill on their new menu items. The new Mushroom Swiss burger is terrible, maybe it was just a bad day for them, but my plate came out terrible, everything overdone or burnt. Even the best Bread pudding around has changed. Its no longer that great big square with the warm sauce over it. Now its some crappy little crescent rolls with heavy cream. It tasted fine but they have totally changed it. Its not the comfort food that you expect.

Well...my opinion of Mimi's has been slipping. It's been at least a year or two since I've been here. They lured me back with a coupon for brick chicken so my wife and went back. The service is pretty poor. Slow to be seated, slow to bring drinks, slow to take your order, ect. The servers often disappear for long stretches of time and you are left wondering if they got eaten by zombies. We do like the patio and bring our poodle. We decided this Labor Day to visit and the patio looked like a disaster zone. Crayons, dirty plates, food on the ground, and the statement from the hostess saying "This has not been cleaned from this morning" kinda grossed me out. The food is ok and a good value. The chicken is a few steps above El Pollo Loco however the service and cleanliness is about the same.

Ah, Mimi's...I have been to two different branches of Mimi's so far. The food is nothing to write home about. In general, it is average and appropriately priced. The decor is the same- French-inspired which is cute. They have seemed to be understaffed at this particular location for the past few months. Sometimes you will notice people waiting for a table despite the fact that there are empty tables. We have had one fantastic server who was fast, efficient and friendly but other times, we have had to either ask for our drinks or the bread to be served. On my last visit, I asked for my bacon-avocado burger to be cooked medium and without onions. It was brought to me with onions and visibly pink in the center. Also, without any bacon. I checked the whole burger and really couldn't find any bacon! Anyway, I kept searching for our server to send my dish back to be cooked more. In the meantime, I kept noticing a man in black (? Waitstaff ? Bartender?) wandering around, occasionally talking to customers but most of the time sitting at one of the empty tables looking at his smartphone. At first I thought he was on break but he would do that intermittently throughout our whole meal. Finally I was able to wave our server over and she seemed very harried and stressed. It seemed like she could have used some help which made me wonder what the man was doing bc he seemed like he would do some work and then just stop and rest. It was all very odd. On the positive side, I do enjoy the breads and muffins that come as sides with many of the dishes. And none of the food has ever been truly bad. However, the service has been inconsistent in our past few visits. Hopefully this is something management can fix eventually.

I was really impressed! My dad and I came in and were seated right away. We had a very nice waitress who informed us of all the Friday night specials that they had. She was a total sweetheart. Brought us our drinks right away and refilled them lots. We were parched or maybe it's just their ice tea is that good! Had 4 glasses. She brought us their basket of bread while we waited for our food.. I really liked the pumpkin bread. The food was excellent. My quiche was the best I've ever had in my life! The salad was too. Really good food here. My dad enjoyed his food as well. He ordered the French pot roast and said the mashed potatoes were the best he's ever had. If you haven't been here before, try this place out! I'm looking forward to my next visit. Mimi's Cafe, 5

This cafe is premised on French style eating but of course it is not trying to be a bistro in Paris. You will be greeted with a fun, "Bonjour!" That is as far as it goes though - hello and goodbye in French! (I am French Canadian, I tried to engage them, no-go, lol!) The place is cute though, neat decor. Clean. We went around 3pm and it was not at all busy. Host was almost overwhelmed by 2 couples coming in at one time - then we were budded on by a 90 year old lady - which was fine, we just waited. (She was super cute). A tad understaffed until maybe dinner time I would say unless this was an off-day. We finally were seated in the dining room. The menus are large and varied re choice. Soups, salads, sandwiches, crepes, entrees... and desserts. The food took a long time to come out after ordering. The bread that came before the meal was divine, like a real French baguette cut into buns. The butter was not so good, tasted very artificial and was yellowish like margarine. We both got the French onion soup which was pretty good. And a half sandwich. Fries come on top of all that for $8.99. GEEZ! I never even got to take a bite of my turkey club as 1 piece of bread and my lil cup of soup filled me right up. Hubby gobbled his soup and 5 cheese grilled cheese. WOW, it was cheesy. Come to think of it, he ate everything, even his fries... he had no complaints. (you can sub fruit for fries but the fries were recommended) Our server left after bringing us coffee and a new one took over. Both were OK. We had to ask for a refill on our coffee as well as ask twice for cream but still, everything service-wise was fine. I just wish we had not had to wait so long for 2 dishes. There was a woman at a table next to me eating a pot pie and it was HUGE and looked very good. Drool. We ended up here on default trying simply to find a good cup of coffee but am glad we got to try it out. Would recommend. Come hungry!

I walked in this morning. No host present so I went to the counter to order a muffin to go. It wasn't that busy. I waited 10 minutes to be helped. Three different employees rushed around, didn't check on tables behind me nor did any of them offer to help me. Lost my business for a long time. I really wanted a buttermilk spice muffin but, I was able to drive 1/4 mile up the road and get an orange scone.

I went into Mimis on Saturday with my lady. We had the crepes with strawberries and banana and nutella. The nutella ruined those for me. Also had the chicken and waffles. The syrup for said waffle was charged separately at $1.50. WTF?? I have never been charged for syrup before-and I never will be charged for syrup at Mimis again. They should just build the price into the waffle, to charge separately is in poor taste. I do not recommend.
This review is only for their breakfast - 3.5 STRAWBERRY WAFFLE PERDU: three petite waffles filled with cream cheese and orange marmalade, topped with fresh strawberry sauce. Not too soft, with a touch of sweetness. Good! POMME LYONNAISE BENEDICT: potato galettes topped with bacon, spinach, tomatoes and poached eggs. Served with fruits. Good, but a little salty. MARSEILLE OMELETTE: open-faced egg with sauteed spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and goat cheese. Served with fruits and toast. This was a bit bland. I had to add hot sauce for more flavor. CINNAMON BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST: eggs, bacon, and cinnamon swirled brioche slices. eggs and bacon were good. The brioche toasts were too hard on the inside. Couldn't finish it. The food is fairly decent. Some minor issues, but nothing too extreme.
I have such fond memories of eating at Mimi's when I was a child after church on Sundays. Mimi's always has great service. Today, the host was very friendly. He definitely has the calling for the hospitality industry. We were seated right away. Our waitress was friendly. My husband ordered hot chocolate. If you've never had their hot chocolate before, it's a must! I had iced tea and enjoyed it. We had the spinach and artichoke dip for our appetizer. It was super delicious, but the tortilla chips were stale. Not happy about that! My husband had the Cordon Bleu sandwich with fries and clam chowder. He said, "It wasn't the number one best, but it was good." That's kinda how I felt about my meal. I had the Guacamole Chicken sandwich with fries and garden salad. I'm not a big fan of cilantro. The guacamole was full of cilantro, so that was a total turn off. The rest of the food was good. We had an enjoyable lunch date.

My daughter chose to come here for her birthday dinner. We were happy to see they have the 25 dollar for two meals right now... Two appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert. Good choices and plenty of food. Our two girls did one two for 25 and my husband and I did a two for 25: The girls chose tomato basil soup and French onion soup as their starters, both amazing. They then both opted for the pot pie nouveau. They thought it was good, except it could use more seasoning and were disappointed with the crust only being over the top. (No crust on bottom or sides) They said mine was better, what mom can complain about that? I went with les artichokes frites for my appetizer. Crispy and tasty. A bit much just for me, so I shared. I also had the Poulet a l'Orange Crêpes. Big on flavor, but not heavy. It was served with a salad on the side. I enjoyed them very much and I think the hubby was jealous of my choice when he took a bite. The hubby started with the Petite Salade de Mimi's. (I didn't start with a salad because my entree came with it). It is an average salad. He then ordered the Coq Au Vin. He thought it was only so-so. He felt it lacked flavor and wasn't really hot when it came to the table. It was just ok. The dessert includes three desserts. The Brioche Bread Pudding, Apple Cinnamon Crisp a'la mode and Triple Chocolate Brownie. The bread pudding was good, the apple cinnamon crisp the best of the three (I enjoyed it very much) and the brownie was almost impossible to eat. It was too hard in the bowel for us to get out. However overall not a bad little ensemble. Be wary of eating too much of their fantastic bread. The $25 for two meal will fill you up completely. Such a great deal and as always the service was terrific.

We went today for a early dinner. I had a coupon on my cell phone and the manager came over to verify. No hassle at all. She was very nice. I give them five stars for customer service. We ordered the Surf and Turf. The seafood was nicely grilled. The steak was a little tough. They were very nice about changing the choice of vegetables for us. Thanks Mimis.

Rony is the best. We were waiting to get seated and went to the bar and stayed at the bar for our whole meal. Great meal and the best customer service at Mimi's we have ever had. The manager also checked in on us and brought our food... We had so great conversation and perfect food. Thanks guys.

Visited with a friend for brunch. Loved the atmosphere from the start, it's what you'd want an intimate restaurant to be. Our server was very friendly, attentive and informative. I had the a crepe chicken breakfast and it was delicious especially the sauce. My friend had a waffle that were up to par with what any good waffle house would make. I'm giving this place 5-stars and I hope to have the same experience next time I return.

Very disappointed with my last visit. We came here for breakfast and to begin with our server was hardly attentive to our table. Someone else came without us even asking and took our drink order. Next...I ordered some waffles and they were the worst waffles I had ever tried. I should have just eaten my eggo waffles from home instead! They were cold as in they forgot to toast them or whatever their process is because even the butter didn't melt and I like my waffles warm and buttery (with melted butter of course). Our order took SO long which made me believe our server may have forgotten to get the food for our table and therefore that may explain why our food was cold!?? Not the best experience. And just for fun....I ordered some orange juice and was surprised the menu said "freshly squeezed orange juice" my first thought was yummy!! So I asked the server who took our drinks if they really squeezed the juice and he said "that's just what the bottle says and that's all I'm saying!" Hahah Wow! Way to try to fool us.

We used to be regulars at Mimi's Cafe, however for the last year or so they have been tweaking their menu and removing our favorite items. On the last trip, for lack of anything else I had the Fish & Chips. While it was OK, it wasn't much better than I could get from the frozen food section at the grocery store. It certainly wasn't up to the standards of WestChester Bowl or Coconut Joe's. Service was OK and the manager stopped by to see how we liked dinner. She said we weren't the only people complaining about the new menu. It used to be you would always have a wait at Mimi's. Now you can walk in at 6:00 and sit at one of many, many empty tables. Too bad.

The last time I had been here was when I was able to order off the kid's menu & I swore to never come back because I pulled a hair out of my chicken finger....... I am now 27 years old & I came back because my boyfriend wanted to try it. We went around 7:30 & were seated right away. We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip as an appetizer. When it arrived, it was nice & warm & cheesy. I had one bite & then I see my boyfriend pull a strand of hair out from his chip. I'm instantly grossed out & I wanted to complain, but my boyfriend wouldn't let me. Ew. He ordered the chicken Parmesan & I ordered the bacon cheddar burger only because it said it came with onion straws (my favorite!) When the food arrived I look at my boyfriends meal & it looks delicious! Then she puts my meal in front of me & walks off to retrieve ranch for my fries. I look at the burger & see no onion straws, instead, it's pouring out with mashed avocado. Argh!!!! She got my order wrong!!!!!!! I told her, "I ordered the bacon cheddar burger, not the bacon avocado burger.." She says, "oh I thought you said avocado." How she confuses the word, "cheddar" with "avocado" beats me. So my poor boyfriend is waiting to eat & we sit there staring at his plate for 15 minutes before my correct meal finally comes out. You can tell she gave me the same fries because they were soggy. When the bill comes, she says "the bill still says avocado burger even though you got the cheddar burger. They are the same price, so I didn't need to change anything." Gee, thanks Karen so much! NOT. The least you could have done was deducted the hairy appetizer or removed my meal from the check for getting it wrong & making us wait as my boyfriend's food got cold, but nope. I gave it another try & I will for sure never come back!
Always great. We really love this place, new crew , but the same great service and delicious food

On the way down to LA, Mimi's Cafe saved us from another breakfast at IHOP. I can still taste IHOP's horrendous turkey bacon that were really just flat soy flaps fried in old bacon oil. Mimi's on the other hand- what a delight! And such a great deal, since it's just a few bucks pricier than IHOP and much cuter with a French motif. Service must have improved a great deal, since my server Gabrielle was an absolute delight with kind attention and a beautiful smile. The pancakes were superb and even the oatmeal was delicious. The fruit was very fresh, the OJ just squeezed, and the coffee was fantastic. She even prepared a cup of joe in a to-go cup, which was much appreciated! I will definitely make this my pitstop whenever I find myself in Bakersfield.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. Arrived around 10:30. I really would not suggest coming any later. We were seated right away, but almost immediatley after that the place was packed! I was pleasently suprised to find they had an assortment of mimosas to try and even a flight where you could try them all. Our waiter was great at the beginnning, brought all of our drinks fast and took our orders. I had the 5-alarm santa fe omelet. we had a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals, and from the looks of it they were all very tasty. The bakery items (muffins) looked especially great! At the end of the meal our server kinda went AWOL. It took him a really long time to get our checks and then to get us paid. Overall the breakfast was good, I will prolly return!

We decided to come here after we attempted to have breakfast at Denny's but it was too busy. I was nervous at first because I don't like trying new places but I was quickly set at ease when we walked in. The employes were very pleasing and friendly. They seated us right away and took our drink orders. Since it was our first time here our waiter recommended a few items, our food came quickly and was actually pretty good. We even got a coupon for $5 off on our next visit. Definitely coming back.

If I could give no stars I would!!! Made a reservation for Mother's Day and ended up with no table after waiting 45 minutes with my 90 year old grandmother. No updates, apoligies, and no table-but a whole lot of Waiting! Took my business & all future business else where. Poorly managed and on Mother's Day of all days. I understand it's a busy day, but that's why I made a reservation.

Food was good, the server saved the day. We had chicken braised in a wine sauce; a little salty, but acceptable. The French Onion soup was great; I recommend it. Coffee was a dark roast and went well with the meal. The portion was quite large; we walked away full. I'd come back again..

my husband and father in law came for brunch on a Saturday morning and were surprised to find parking and me seated so quickly. This place is normally packed but not this morning...or so we thought. Right after we were seated and placed our order with the nicest waitress, a mob of people came in and had wait times of up to 30 min. I ordered a French Onion soup and grilled chicken sandwich. My father in law ordered an omelet and my husband ordered the mini waffles, eggs and bacon with has browns. Our food arrived promptly, hot and was delicious. The waitress mistakenly ordered a different sandwich but was quickly corrected. We highly recommend Mimi's. They care about their customers and have great food.

Ok here's the deal. Usually the service is good but today it went south due to the 3 women in (charge)? Of this Mimi. While we waited in a near empty Mimi's. it took 15 mins to get someone's attention to wait on us. While we waited we saw the entire staff cater to these 3 women. While ignoring new customers"us". We almost walked out if not for another server walking by an asking had we been helped. If you see these women here go elsewhere service will suffer. still waiting to see if the food suffers An I have a tip for management. 1 Please do not test your staff during working hours. 2 Please do not eat food while testing, Your food looked better then ours. 3 If you have to test them during working hours do it where we don't have to see or Hear you. How do I know that??? The bonus question was how to wash your hands. Reach up grab a towel. The water should be at 100 degrees an wash up to your elbows. While important, so is the service. You 3 ladies had the entire staff there. Please correct that

I love this place because ive been coming here since a child. I have always loved the theme and vibe of this place. French onion soup and chicken strips are to die for.

A family friendly place that was open on Thanksgiving. I say A-ok to Mimi's Cafe! My brother in law told us about this place because he likes their country fried chicken. So on our drive to Sacramento, we popped on by. This location in Bakersfield stays true to form...and honestly, we were extremely thankful that it was open on Thanksgiving Day. Pluses: Honey oat muffins. Pistachio crusted salmon. Corn chowder. Cobb salad. Eggs Benedict. Mimi's is comfort food - hearty and heavy. So if you want an average priced place to which you can take your whole family - little kiddos in tow - this is a place to consider.

It's a biz trip, OK? So the mistake after ck'ing into the hotel, and then running off to get dinner, was in passing the El Torito on California Blvd., and actually driving to Mimi's. I recently stopped at the Upland, CA Mimi's and had no issues. My wife went to the Mimi's on La Paz in Laguna Niguel and had great service and food. We've done Mimi's over the years and always been satisfied with their food and service. So this was a real "anomoly" for us. Of all the Mimi's, in all the country, and on such a hot day...... why oh why did we have to go here? My bbq chicken salad was good, when it finally arrived........ but my wife's lo-cal chicken plate had dry chicken, they forgot her onion soup, then remembered it, but then brought her chicken noodle (?), then had to bring the right soup, then forgot her dressing for her salad, then forgot my muffin, then changed around what few servers showed up in our dining area a few times, then ignored most everyone, and then said "thanks for coming to Mimi's....." when they gave me the check! Service here was "disgusting"........ and that ruined the food for my wife and for me. My salad was actually good, but remember my motto..... "OK food and great service trumps great food and poor service." Guess what I think when both food and service suck?

My experience with Mimi's cafe has always been good in the past. Great basket of bread and baked goods. I always loved the corn muffin here, but at this location or maybe the chain, the quality of food and service is not up to par as it used to be. I called on a Saturday night to see how long the wait was. The girl said there was no wait. I was surprised, but when I got there I could see why. First off, I saw a new menu that seemed more corporate than it used to be. Looked like a menu you could find at a Marie Calendar's or Denny's. There was no more references to the French influences that this restaurant had before. I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, crab cakes, and the chicken pot pie. The coconut shrimp was poorly cooked. The battered skin was falling off before we even put it in our mouths. The sauce was the only good thing about it. The crab cakes sucked so bad. The texture was sandy and it was not held together very well. The cake was breaking apart before we even stabbed our forks in it. It came out in multiple pieces. It did not look very appealing at all. The chicken pot pie was the worse I have tried. The crust was hard as a rock and hard to eat. It was overcooked and dry. The soup was very watery and the chicken was bland. There were more vegetables than chicken and I did not like that. I'm so sad that Mimi's has gone so downhill. Hopefully it's only this location.

Went for dinner. Not up to par in any sense of the word. I've went to various Mimi's in SoCal over the years and this one did not come close to others I've been to. Some food was very good -- others not. Service was not great. Waitress could not remember things correctly. She forgot to pick up my wine at the bar, but did bring all the other drinks. I no longer wanted it when another waiter or bartender decided to bring it 25 minutes later. The kids meals were done way ahead of the adult entrees so she brought them out as I didn't want them sitting under a heat lamp going stale. My fish was so overcooked it was almost like rubber. Forgot to bring a side of mashed potatoes. Forgot to bring the gravy. we were left "dry" without a drink refill for periods of time. I couldn't understand it as the place wasn't that full. After visiting here, I can understand why now. Won't ever be back when I'm in the area.

Staff was pleasant. Carrot Raisin muffin was good. Meal was omelet and potatoes. Chinsy looking. For hot sauce they bring you Tabasco. No Tapatia. I asked for green Tabasco and the waitress walked by me 4 times helping asking her 2 other customers how their meals were. I decided to use regular Tabasco and then the green was brought to me 5 minutes after my meal was served. The potatoes were ok. 3 big pieces were obviously rotten. The omelet was good, although I don't think they used 3 eggs to make it. Avocado was fresh and ham was big chunks which was good. The staff was talking loudly and laughing and singing and I felt like I was at a McDonald's rather than a nice restaurant. I came here because I'm from out of town and am waiting for car service. I probably would have been just as happy with a McDonald's breakfast sandwich. My bank account would have preferred that option too!

Not up to par with other locations. Was seated at a dirty table. Slow service. Food was good. Waitress tried too hard to up-sell add-ons. Bus staff was slow and left dirty tables around our table.

Wonderful breakfasts! It seems that no matter what you get here for it, it is going to be PERFECT! Muffins are perfect, omelets are perfect, everything is perfect. Staff is always friendly and helpful but can range to extremes from really good (About a 7.5) to really really bad (about a 3), there is just no telling. But the food is always fresh and cooked very well. Now the sad news.. :( besides the fact that you never know if you are going to get an Angel or for a waitress or some lady going through PMS, breakfast really is the only good thing here. I mean, not lunch nor dinner are even close to the range of their breakfasts! It is really strange.. The breakfasts will always range from a rating of 7 to 9.5, but the lunches and dinners are about a 1.5 to 4. They are really awful and for some reason very pricy. So, if you want an amazing breakfast that will knock your socks of, this place will never disappoint, but if you want lunch or dinner, you may not want to sacrifice your taste buds just to try a meal. I mean, what did they do to you?.. ;)

When I arrived here in 2003 Mimi's was a great, fascinating place to eat. I so admired the culinary imagination and creativity I even asked about buying stock in the company. I raved about Mimi's to everyone I met. Then about 2009 it crashed. Notwithstanding the cutesy facade and pseudo French ambience, everything - the quality, the pricing, the cleanliness, the service - slid to hell. I've written several letters of complaint to their blind, deaf and dumb corporate headquarters in (pardon the dirty language) Orange County. All I ever get is a flimsy apology, a $20 gift card and a request to try it again. Nothing ever changes. The bread basket rarely arrives even when it's asked for. The French onion soup is a welded blob that can barely be cut with a knife. The "Just Enough" portions aren't enough to feed a mouse. It's not a sign of good management when the wait staff changes constantly with each visit. Meanwhile, the prices keep going skyward while the service continues down the toilet. And speaking of toilets, the restrooms always look like they haven't even been mopped in two years. Here's another example of a typically greedy corporate attitude: If it's making money, leave it alone. If you don't like it, move out of the way, because there's plenty more coming who won't care!

We have a running joke in the office that you better have 2 hours free if you want to go to Mimi's. Their service is notoriously slow, but the food is pretty good. I will never prefer Mimi's, but I won't necessarily complain if someone drags me along.

Okay I got the fish and chips, and with it a stomach ache, but I don't want it to seem like I'm implying it was a food shack of poor sanitation and devil laughter! No the meal was lack luster, greasy, and everyone at my table was pretty much in agreement of it's blandness. It's not that anything was terrible, it's just that the food leaves you going "whelp I've tried this place I'll probably never go back until nana forces me to." Though the waitress was very nice and very attentive even though our group did that annoying split the check 82 different ways. In closing I'll just say this eating here is like swallowing a bunch hot air, you feel a pseudo full feeling but you know that the feeling will go away after the burp. Meh.

Love the bread basket but hate the wait. It drives me nuts because every time we visit it is either a hit or miss. Sometimes my food comes out amazing and sometimes it sucks. Often I find myself asking to return my food to the kitchen.....and I really hate it when people do that! This time the bread basket was practically bare, most likely from the crowded dining areas. She brought more bread as we asked, our friend ordered the chicken fried steak and wasn't able to take more than a few bites, I got the chicken pasta thing (I wish I can remember the name) but it was a bit watery but good, the hubby got some double burger french thing and scarfed it down....must've been good. I only go when I absolutely crave this place, so it sucks when it sucks and is good when it is good. Hate the gamble though.

Came here with a group of friends for dinner. We got seated right away. Our waitress was prompt and brought out a basket that had an assortment of breads in it. My husband and I thought that the bread basket was the highlight of our meal. It was downhill from there. I ordered a pasta dish which was served lukewarm, not hot. I had to send it back so that the cook can reheat it. My husband's ravioli dish was horrible! His plate came with about five raviolis and one big piece of chicken. It was nothing like the description on the menu. Overall, this place was a big disappointment. We wont be dinning here anytime soon.

I was once a fan of Mimi's but no more, I don't care for pre made/ packaged food. Give mom and pops places any day. I will pay more for cooked food over boiled packages any day

We waited 15 minutes after ordering our drinks & 40 + minutes for the food and did not receive any bread. The food was good and temperature was right, but waiting 40+ minutes for your food is just too slow when its just pasta and chicken for 3.

We enjoyed the salads and a "small" salad was plenty for lunch. I had the crispy chicken salad - ranch dressing and hot sauce came on the side. Also had a selection of muffins. I had the pumpkin spice which was warm and slightly moist on the inside. Very tasty and I can't believe I ate the entire thing. Service was OK. Not very attentive on the refills. You can tell this is a chain. It is probably one of the nice chain restaurants in the immediate area.

Ok food...horrible service. There was a bug in my wine and a hair in someone else's food. They ran out of the quiche my grandma ordered (the only reason she wanted to come here). My grandma had also made reservations for 1:30pm for the banquet room. After waiting 25 minutes after our reservation time, they told us the room was not available and put a bunch of tables together. We barely all fit at the table. My order and my daughter's order were incorrect. Not recommended. Marie Calendars is right across the parking lot. Go there.
After a long and exhausting day of work my coworkers and I decided to go to Mimi's Cafe ~ a nice comfort food restaurant. The food ordering, serving, and billing were the lognest I've ever waited my entire life. I was so tired from work (About 9pm when this all happened ~ after a 12 hour day of work at track!) I nearly fell asleep at the table waiting for all this food consumption to stinkin' happen already. Seriously ~ serve me tea with no tea cup????? Ok I'm bitter because I was hungry. The corn chowder, hot tea, and the warm bread basket were the high points of my meal. Next time I come ~ Mimi's better step up her game or else I'll cry. kthx!

Really enjoyed breakfast this morning. Mimi's is a very nice looking dining room with attentive and thoughtful service. Our server, Chanda, did an excellent job accommodating a large party with many special requests. The food was very good and the portions abundant; great value! Loved the house-made blueberry muffin. Get in soon. They're running a "good on your next visit" coupon/prize promo right now. Very clever marketing! We'll be back very soon.

On a recent road trip we pulled of the highwy for an early afternoon dinner. Faced with fast food or sit downs like Sizzler, Marie Calendars or Mimi's; we chose the later. We had not been to a Mimi's in about 1 year. We were greeted promptly, seated within a few minutes and greeted by our server promptly. The place was less than half full. Unfortunatley only one server was working that entire side of the restaurant. She was pleasant and obviously working very hard. Our simple order took over 25 minutes to make it to the table. We never saw the bread basket that Mimi's is known for; the portions in relation to the prices were disappointing. I ordered the beef dip and chose veggies and fruit over the fries and slaw. Fruit was extra. When my plate arrived I had 5 small vegi pieces, 4 small pieces of fruit. The portions provocked us to joke that they may be running out of veggies. I know they were out of 2 menu items due to a busier than expected week. Anyway, very dissapointed in the food, the staffing (waitress did her best) the value. Maybe it was isolated to this location but I will think twice about a return visit to Mimi's in the LA / OC areas. Food was just ok, not terrible but not good enough to want ot return. In the end, the percieved value wasn't there.

We spent Mother's day here today and everything was wonderful! I've been here before and it didnt really win me over until today. I'm a server and I know that holidays are sooo busy and sometimes the service suffers because of the volume. we had wonderful service from start to finish, chowed on some delicious muffins and the waitress even brought my daughter some cheerios and fruit while we waited for our food. GREAT experience :-)

Went in with a party of 5, only 4 other groups in the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. I know we weren't dressed up or anything because we had come from the pumpkin patch, but we weren't exactly in t-shirts with holes and cut off shorts either. They told us they would have to clear a table, it was a table a party of 5 had just left, never mind there was a table which had seats for up to 8 right next to it available right away. They could have given me this table, it wasn't like they were busy at all. The man at the hostess station went and stacked the dirty dishes then came back to hostess stand, went back again and cleared off the dishes, came back to hostess stand, went back and cleared the glasses, he came back to hostess stand to get a cloth to wipe table and say hello to customers who had just walked in, he then let us know that table was almost cleared and when he went to wipe it down he stopped to talk to other people. I had enough at this point because during his constant trips back and forth the manager walked by and said hello and did nothing to get us our table sooner and many waiters and waitresses wandered around not doing anything either. We left and went to another restaurant where our bill came to over $100, too bad for Mimi's we will never go there again, it was our first time there and we were looking forward to trying it, o well.

Excellent food with some unusual and creative breakfast entrees. Saturday at 10:00 am had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Ordered right away but entree took 30 minutes to come. Home made hash was excellent.

(4)Kiki B.

Ordered the turkey club. It was good. Service was good.

(4)M V.

(2)John R.
(2)Chris B.
Too bad.
(2)Mark B.
Located near State Highway 99.

(5)Kristie S.
(1)Lorena S.
(4)Billy B.
Wow - I enjoyed the French ambiance and the food was very fresh and tasty for the price. The price point was good.

Traveling from Philadelphia we found Mimi's by accident. Ignoring the previous reviews we dove in and had a great meal
(4)Lina L.
(3)Elena B.
Love their food. We had breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very nice and attentive staff too
(5)Sue G.
(4)Michele G.
Good food, slower to cook but fresh. Very bland. Needed more season to eggs. Potatoes were good. Friendly staff, good service. I would return..
(3)Kinsie R.

(1)Jasmine K.
(2)Claudia C.
(4)Shann A.
(4)Marsha C.
Love love love the new menu. Excellent choices and price point is a good value. We had salmon, pasta, and meatloaf - everybody was happy! And the house wine @ $5. is frosting on the cake. Viva la Mimi's!
(4)Melissa C.
(2)Timothy M.
(2)Jen H.

I had a good burger here but the service was slow and not very friendly.

We went back with another coupon for a free entrée with the purchase of one entrée and two drinks. I get these coupons periodically and haven't really used any of them until recently. This time we both had the salmon benedict with Cold-smoked Norwegian salmon, poached eggs, diced red onions, capers and Hollandaise on a grilled English muffin. It came with herbed roasted potatoes. The fresh squeezed orange juice was good but probably was just juice that is sold in the market as not from concentrate. My husband said his benedict was very good but needed more hollandaise sauce. I agree with that. Service was good. The premises were clean. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. I will be coming back again.

Nobody expects an actual French Bistro experience when they come to Mimi's, but this is worse than a hospital cafeteria. Multiple attempts with friends and I've now seen over a dozen meals served from this chain, at three different locations, so I can say with authority that Mimi's sucks. Their appetizers seem like they were assembled by someone who was annoyed by customers ordering appetizers. Their entrées vary in portions and appearance significantly, even when ordered at the same time. The food screams SYSCO pre-packaged slop, and there's no denying that the flavors are either muted or bizarrely off putting. Stop suggesting this horrible place for lunch. It's bad.

I love this place. Perfect scenery and a wonderful friendly staff. The food is always fantastic, whether your looking for a burger or something fancy. I love a morning brunch with one of their delicious mimosas!

Yes, sometimes you have to wait a bit. But everyone is gracious, great service, and delicious food.

Too bad.

Great staff and fantastic food! Kelsey M. Is a terrific server! Thanks for a great time!

Went to lunch for my wife's Birthday and had wonderful service and food! Sometimes in the past they have been slow but today it was spot on!!
(5)Stephanie C.
Had breakfast here for my dad's birthday, it was his first time and he loved it! The food was amazing from my grandmother's egg white omelette to my brother's cinnamon French toast! The service was also amazing, from the hosting staff to our server, Wes, whom was super polite and had a great attitude! The overall atmosphere was fantastic!

(4)Joe A.
waited a long time to be seated although there were plenty of spots. others coming in got same treatment. more than 1/2 hour before food showed. the worst of the experience was the heavy perfume worn by the server, eliminating all other smells & flavor

This establishment charges extra for items like "comes with" potatoes etc. this is a form of a financial fraud.

For Bakersfield: This place is great the food was good as well.

(2)Kim D.
(3)Mike Z.

(1)Spenser C.
We have a running joke in the office that you better have 2 hours free if you want to go to Mimi's. Their service is notoriously slow, but the food is pretty good. I will never prefer Mimi's, but I won't necessarily complain if someone drags me along.
(3)Sean R.
Meh.
(2)Michelle H.
(2)Sandra L.

Bartender slash wait person did a nice job being really nice to a nasty customer who she got to calm down. Impressive decorum. Niçoise salad very good-salmon cooked right. Pleasant experience.
(4)Brian R.
I was once a fan of Mimi's but no more, I don't care for pre made/ packaged food. Give mom and pops places any day. I will pay more for cooked food over boiled packages any day
(2)Marty M.
We waited 15 minutes after ordering our drinks & 40 + minutes for the food and did not receive any bread. The food was good and temperature was right, but waiting 40+ minutes for your food is just too slow when its just pasta and chicken for 3.
(2)Debbie E.
(3)Mandy G.
Go there.

I love Mimi's cottage building because it makes me feel like I'm going to Hansel & Gretel's home. When we entered the restaurant, we were not greeted immediately by a host/hostess. When the host, Christopher, finally appeared, his lips were tightly sealed with no "Hello! Welcome to Mimi's Café! How many in your party?" He was a shorty dressed like a wannabe rocker. I took reigns & started the conversation after a moment of silent, awkward stares. When we observed his attitude to other patrons, he was the same way. Once my companion & I seated ourselves, we waited 10 minutes before our waitress emerged. We gave her our orders immediately fearing that we would not see her again for an extended period of time. Another 10 minutes later, drinks & a bread basket was delivered. I love bread, so I devoured the warm dinner rolls, banana bread, & carrot cake bread. All of course were slathered with the honey-whipped butter. I ordered the French Market Onion Soup to start. A general tip for ordering soups: Ask for the soup to be served extra hot, especially with this soup. You'll appreciate the ooey, gooey-ness of the cheese. Also, try the Cafe Corn Chowder. My main course was the Seafood Fettuccine tossed with mushrooms, spinach, & tomato asiago cream sauce & topped with jumbo seared scallops, a garlic shrimp skewer, & diced tomatoes. The scallops were not jumbo and not pan seared but burnt instead. The mushrooms & spinach were M.I.A. Must have run out of fresh veggies by 6 pm. My companion ordered the Honey Dijon Salmon with grilled asparagus, drizzled with Dijon cream sauce, & served with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. Again, the spinach was M.I.A. on this plate & the Mt. Everest-sized mound of potatoes dwarfed the teeny weeny piece of fish. The woody ends of the asparagus spears were not cut off. Plus, the salmon was overcooked. For dessert, we had beignets that had a custard filling served with 3 sauces: chocolate, strawberry, & caramel. The first one tasted like Hershey's chocolate syrup, & the latter was the best out of all three. The food was 3 stars out of 5 because of the M.I.A. ingredients, and the service was 1 star because of the slow service & rude welcome to the restaurant.
