This place would be very, very good if they used MSG. As is, the food is well prepared, and likely healthier for you than your average chinese cafe; but, it is very bland. If you have simple tastes and you enjoy average home style food. You'll probably like this place. The service is fair, the prices are average. Although this restaurant is not at all bad, we prefer Szechuan Restaurant up the road. Our friends rave about Twin Dragon, I guess everyone really has differents tastes... LOL! Imagine that...

To those who dislike this place but complain about greasy food - try ordering something NOT deep-fried. Wor Won Ton soup is amazing as is the broccoli beef. My wife is very picky about freshness of food and she also loves this place. So I say try it again and think veggy not greasy - which tastes awful everywhere.

This is the sort of chinese food place that has more business during lunch than dinner most days. Their lunch deals are pretty good; the dinner deals aren't always quite worth the costs. Parking is fine ... Check out Dr. Fox's statues across the street, unless you're a neo-puritan of some kind.

I spent a good part of my childhood in dismal Auburn, CA. I was the only asian kid in school, and probably the only asian kid in the county. Don't believe me? My family was featured in an article about immigration in the local paper (we keep a copy for posterity)....GREAT...might as well highlight us... oh wait, we're already yellow. Ha. Ha. Anyway, Twin Dragon was the only place I felt normal, where I was assured that there WERE Chinese people in the United States. Ok this is getting too Amy Tan. The food here is pretty darn good. They make my favorite walnut prawns, and hot and sour soup (first time I'd had either of those two dishes was here). Whenever we visit old friends in Auburn, I always request to eat here. Oh nostalgia!

NO MSG!!! that is the sign posted in their front window......and Twin Dragon delivers on this promise. Good quality chinese food......ample portions......reasonable prices. Recently I've noticed they have had improved service.......the waitresses actually SMILE now! (I think the newly added competition from "Chang Brothers" nearby, has spurred their recent customer service improvement)

This is the best chinese food ever! I Love it so much! They are quick with service and it's always fresh and delicious! I love their hot n'sour soup... seasame beef, sweet and sour chicken, cream cheese won tons, Mu Shu Shrimp, generals chicken. kung pao chicken, it soooo goood! I have never gotten anything i didn't like!

I've given this place a year of take-out and I'm DONE! Take note that when Twin Dragon is good, they are VERY good... but when they are bad, they are VERY bad! This becomes an issue with take-out (being you aren't in the position to question or return a dish to the kitchen... and trust me, they well know it!). I have noticed a definite pattern of "quality convenience/inconvenience" with Twin Dragon. This means if you order close to closing, your dish will reflect that. Less added ingredients you would normally enjoy, etc. If there isn't a batch of properly fried rice ready... they will take some left over white rice, splash it with some soy... add some frozen chopped carrots and peas and call it good. Their prices are out of sight for the lack of quality and care they put into their dishes. My theory is they have let the back to back years of the Auburn Journal awards lull them into a false sense of security. Guess again Twin Dragon... after last night's repeat of take out disrespect, this STEADY AND REGULAR customer is now officially GONE!

Twin Dragon is one of the only reasons that I am really sad about moving out of Auburn two years ago. There is literally NO OTHER Chinese restaurant in the whole area that I have been to that is as good. Hands down. If 6 stars was a possibility, I'd be choosing it! It might be because of the vegetarian options, since I'm vegetarian. But I have NEVER had egg flower soup as good anywhere else, the spring rolls are incredible, and the family style tofu is the best tofu dish. No better Chinese anywhere.

    (5)
  • Marian B.

This restaurant was given good to great reviews so my husband and I tried it. For me, a vegetarian, it was just okay. I asked if the Tofu was firm or soft and the waitress looked at me as if I had asked a crazy question. Unfortunately the tofu (bean curd) was runny soft.. The egg rolls were good & the vegetable chow mein was really good with little to no vegetables. Getting back to the tofu which was added to the mixed vegetable dish - ruined the dish. The service was adequate and the only person really welcoming was a youngish man who sat us, The waitress pretty much ignored us. We won't return. I will continue to use Yelp though before trying new restaurants as we travel about.

  • Tianqi S.

Yes, they do make the best walnut shrimp and yes, they do make the best hot & sour soup. This place is awesome, so awesome in fact that JACKIE CHAN ate here. Yeah that's right, the Chinese Chuck Norris ate at TWIN DRAGON (which btw is an epic name) What's better, now that my dad doesn't work there anymore the service is top-notch.

I have two words to describe this restaurant: too sweet. If they cut the sugar in half, I'd double my rating. Of course they'd probably go out of business, since I guess sweet sells. My Chinese wife said even the Shanghainese don't eat food this sweet.

    (2)
  • Bob H.

I'll eat here again. The price was about right, the portions were huge (i ordered take out). Staff was very friendly.

    (4)
  • Lu t.

Best Chinese food in town, been going for 20 years and they still produce when others like Shangahi have come and gone....can be a bit pricey though...depends on what you order..

    (5)
  • Tommy A.

twin dragon is without a doubt the best chinese food in the area, i love the sesame beef especially but eveything on the menu is good, i have yet to find a better chinese food resturaunt anywhere

  • Josh O.

This restaurant has fed my family for 20 years. I can not recommend this place more. The mushu pork is incredible. The service is quick and friendly. The owner is very nice and cares for her customers. Dragon has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember. In fact it was my first Chinese food I ate as a kid. As a native Texan with roots from San Francisco I can attest that this place holds true to the value of fresh food with no additive msg. 9.9/10

    (5)
  • Justeen C.

I'm not impressed with the quality of the food. I have definitely had better Chinese food for the money. We ordered dinner take-out, and the chow mein was very greasy, the sweet and sour pork kind of bland, and there was no detectable crab in the "crab wontons". Most places throw in white rice with sweet and sour or similar dishes, and Twin Dragon doesn't do that. I don't think I'll be returning. Chang Bros. by Bel Air was much better.

    (2)
  • Monica B.

I love the food here. The atmosphere is so good too. The lemon chicken is delicious and I absolutely love the pan fried noodle

    (4)
  • Jenny P.

Best Chinese food in the area. Simply fantastic. I've never had better general chicken, king pao chicken, potstickers, or hot and sour soup. Every time I have hot and sour anywhere else, I'm left disappointed. I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating on taste alone. I can understand service woes though. The owner is a wonderful woman, but there's a few girls that have worked here as long as I remember that still don't seem to recognize my family or remember we always want chopsticks. And it's been like 15 years. But hey. The food. It's life changing. Doesn't hurt: The countless awards on the walls and the picture of Jackie Chan speak for themselves.

Twin Dragon, why you laggin?! With a heavy heart, I have to report that the food failed us! Service is great but I'm sad to say that I would've enjoyed fast food more! Since we were in the area, we couldn't pass the opportunity to stop by what I thought was one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. With new Chinese restaurants opening up all the time in Roseville/Rocklin (I've found some really great places), I'm not sure if it's worth coming back here. We stopped in on a Saturday and were delighted to see that they offer their lunch specials every day until 3pm. You have your typical soup along with the entree with your choice of steamed, fried rice or chow mein. Hubs ordered his usual sweet sour chicken and I ordered the shrimp in chili sauce. Oh, and an order of chicken chow mein. The food came out quick, we were disappointed that the fried rice tasted as if had been sitting around for some time. The peas were shriveled and my rice was cold in some spots. The noodles in the chow mein were undercooked. The sweet sour chicken was mediocre, not as good as it used to be. Overall we were quite disappointed, don't think we'll be back.

My gosh this place is great! It's a little hard to find like most places in Auburn, but well worth it. There is plenty of parking when you get there. We were seated right away and the hostess was very nice. The atmosphere is pretty typical for a Chinese food restaurant, but very comfortable. I ordered the hot and sour soup and vegetable chow mein. My mother ordered the fried eggplant (not spicy) and steamed rice. The small bowl of hot and sour soup is huge! It's enough to share with another person if not two or three. The food is amazing! The vegetables were so fresh they were still a little crispy! The noodles were soft and the even the smell of the sauce made my mouth water. I have never had the fried eggplant before anywhere. It's a must try! So good! This is also another great spot for vegetarian and vegan options. This place fills up pretty quick though, so you may want to go a little earlier then average dinner time (like 5). The portions are so big you will have another meal to take home with you. The only down fall, my poor mother will be eating Chinese food every time she sees me now.

  • Nancie G.

Best Chinese food in and around Auburn. We've been eating at Twin Dragons for at least 15 years, if not longer. We dine in and take out and we have never once been disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant! Everything is great: Happy Family, Peking Beef, Hot and Sour Soup, Pork Lo Mein, I could not on and on.

  • Brett A.

Fast service and good food.. Ive done both takeout and dine in and my meals were delicious..

    (4)
  • Nicole L.

Best Chinese in town. I would know :) have had them all. Not greasy & full of flavor. You can taste the ginger... Mmmm. Love it and thankful they are here in Auburn. Way better than the other options!!

    (5)
  • Lenny H.

Food was incredible and so easy to find! Right off the freeway. Enjoyed eating the leftovers the next day. Price: a little expensive but worth it. The atmosphere was good. Will definitely go back to Twin Dragon, very nice experience!

  • Michael L.

First time back in probably 10 years. Was great back then, has slipped a little since. Dishes were good Westernized Chinese food. Go in expecting that and you'll be highly satisfied. No MSG in any of their dishes which is nice.

    (3)
  • Robert B.

Love the chicken chow mein! So good, always just get that to go. Everything else is pretty good, love all the americanized Chinese food with no msg. Tasty and my favorite spot for Chinese In auburn!

  • Andy B.

This place used to be great, however it is quickly going down hill. Prices up, quality down significantly. Time to find a new place in Auburn.

    (3)
  • Victor R.

Loved the different kinds of soup they had. I also was satisfied with the kung pow chicken.

    (5)
  • Christian P.

Don't be turned off by the waitresses, they may seem pushy or rude, but trust me they are kind and try to be the most efficient they can. Sweet and Sour Pork will hit the spot every time!

    (5)
  • Summer M.

The potstickers here are by far the best potstickers I've ever had - packed with sustenance. The provided potsticker sauce is quite good as well. I eat dinner here just for the potstickers. The other dishes are great as well - I love this place! The prices have gone up through the years, but this is simply because less people are living in Auburn or are going out to eat than before so they have to raise prices to account for their loss of profit. If nothing else, try this restaurant just for their potstickers

    (5)
  • Jackie O.

So disappointed in this restaurant. We were craving Chinese take out and remembered that Twin Dragon was just down the street. It's not often that I crave Chinese but my husband and son love it. We ordered, broccoli beef, sesame beef, generals chicken, chicken chow mien, spring rolls & cream cheese/crab won tons... $60. This seemed very very expensive to me. The won tons were horrible. Barely any cream cheese, absolutely NO crab mix and limp as limp can be! The spring rolls were very small and totally flavorless. The rest was average at best. We will not be back.

Best general tso chicken I've had since New York! The inside can be updated, but the food is excellent. It's my go to Chinese place when I come to visit the parents.

    (5)
  • Curt C.

We love the food here. It's our regular go-to spot for take-out. We like general's chicken, BBQ pork lo-mein, and pot stickers or egg rolls. If you dine in, try the crispy egg plant- simply dee-lish.

    (5)
  • Hannah L.

Delicious food! Solve of the best Chinese food around. They have fresh ingredients and their food is authentic. Their staff is friendly and well accommodating. They also have take out. They send you home with so much food.

Stopped here for take out last (Sunday) night after having it recommended to us by friends. We were encouraged by the number of people eating here on a Sunday night. Very busy. We ordered Hot Sour soup, Hunan Beef, and Curry Chicken. The restaurant looked nice, and smelled good as did the food when we received it. We were encouraged and hopeful. At home it was a different story. The hot sour soup was really a sweet soup with no heat and no sour. I had to spice it up with a little hot sauce to give it a little kick. It also had peas in it that were either canned or frozen, and tasted mushy. The other two dishes were sweet as well. The Hunan Beef had no heat to it, and it should have been spicier. It showed that it was spicy on the restaurant's menu. Also, the broccoli in the dish tasted funny and a little bitter The Curry chicken was mild flavored as well, and had little curry flavor. Again, no kick to it. I'm not saying that the restaurant and it's food was bad, just not all that flavorful, and not to my taste. The prices seemed a little high. I might go back and give it a second try to be fair. The two star rating is just as Yelp describes it's definition....Meh, I've experienced better.

Yummy Chicken and Stringbeans with Brown rice. So happy they serve brown rice.

We brought in our large family who had a lot of different ideas about what to order and what to eat, so we had a variety. It was ALL very good and the service was outstanding.

Time to find A new Chinese restaurant in Auburn. Only eat here A few times A year. always was happy with the server and food until last time. Ordered take out. Shrimp dish was good.Rice good However the chicken in the chicken with cashew nuts tasted very funny like it was old or very low quality.had to be put in the garbage. And the prices keep going up.

  • Thomas M.

The dragon is by far the best place to eat in all of auburn. It stands alone when it comes to Chinese food. Generals chicken best in the world chow mien on point. I have made countless people fall in love with the sezuan crispy shrimp. This place is nothing less than the best.

    (5)
  • Robert L.

This place is horrible. Every time I go here they short me items and change prices. I don't know if it's a language barrier or what. I have tried to argue with them over their wrong prices to no avail. If you like to get ripped off by all means go here. They suck.

    (1)
  • J N.

Figured I'd give this place one more try and maybe I'd get luck with the food. Nope, it still sucks

Don't read the one star review, please. There are always "whoops" moments in the food service industry, and unfortunately the last reviewer had 2 bad instances and chose to bash this establishment. Our experience? Wonderfully fresh, delish and great service! We had a tasty takeout dinner that was prepared in a reasonable amount of time, and the gal who helped with our order was very nice. I've tried all the Chinese in the area and I feel that Twin Dragon is a fine choice :)

We moved to Auburn a year ago and have been desperate to find a good Chinese restaurant. Since Twin Dragon had 3.5 stars on Yelp, we decided to give it a try. First time we ordered takeout on a Sat night. They seem to do gangbusters in the to-go biz, so one would think that they'd staff an extra cashier. Not a chance. Squeeze into the limited space inside the front door and just hope that you'll get helped before the night is over. That was a year ago and my memory is that the food was acceptable. Fast forward to last Sunday. My 12yo son and I decided to celebrate his baseball team victory with lunch at Twin Dragon. Bad idea. While the waitress was helpful and service was prompt, the food was bad. We ordered Fried Rice, General Chicken and a shrimp with veggie dish. All dishes, including the hot and sour soup, were underwhelming. They looked appealing but they had no flavor. We kept trying to make it palatable by adding hot chili paste and soy sauce, and I even asked the waitress for some sesame oil, but nothing would work. We'd recommend that you go to Happy Wok instead.

Ugh, I used to eat here all the time until had a couple bad experiences in a row. First time got a toothpick in my food. Second time, found hair that was definitely not mine and was cooked into the food. I looked up the health inspection report and apparently they were using their mop sink to wash vegetables. ick. I won't be back.

We were in town visiting in-laws and was in the mood for some Chinese food. Being from the bay area we unfortunately have high expectations. We ordered a number of items and they all fell flat. General chicken was average at best with it being to sweet and not enough spice. The Lo Mein was the best thing we ordered. Nice and light with a decent amount of veg/meat. The foil wrapped chicken was not even edible. Maybe it was an off night but what ever meat they put in there I couldn't recognize. The chicken wraps were full of pine nuts which was a first for me but not horrible. The pot stickers were nice a big and tasty. If there is another place in town I will try go and go there. Over all its a roll of the dice with this place. Good Luck out there.

I have lived in this area since 1976 and have patronized this restaurant over all those years. It has been consistently good. I have brought guests here from SF and they all think it is excellent. In fact many of my guests specifically request that we go to this restaurant. The service has always been prompt, the food consistent and plentiful. I have tried everything on the menu and have no complaints about anything I have ever been served there. It is as fancy as some Chinese restaurants, so I wouldn't say that atmosphere is a big plus here, but that is the only reason I gave it four stars and not five. They have absolute THE BEST hot and sour soup I have ever eaten anywhere. The mixed fried rice is so full of meat it could be a single dish meal and the Woh Wonton soup is excellent with fresh spinach, chicken, pork, BBQ pork, beef and shrimp. It is a meal in a bowl.

I am sure its a great restaurant but the day I went, service was alright, food was alright, and for sure nothing close to authentic. Perhaps authentic Americanized Chinese food, but for sure not authentic Chinese food. Having traveled to Beijing before I have a little understanding of what their food is really like.

    (2)
  • Mickey H.

5 stars is a heavy statement for Chinese, but I have used some allotted time to reflect and those were the best pot stickers of my natural born life. Mushu pork was off the Chang as well. Twin dragon, you win again.

    (5)
  • Mike B.

The food is very good, some of the best Chinese I've had locally. Prices are a little high so I don't make it a habit but it's worth an occasional trip. If it was more reasonably priced, I'd give it 5 stars.

    (4)
  • Crystal B.

Had a wonderful time! Very good Pork Chow Mein and my husband loved his Seafood in a Clay Pot. My 8 month old had her bowl of steamed rice and made a mess, which they were really kind about.

    (5)
  • Bradley C.

This would not be a 5 star in the Bay Area, but after all Auburn isn't the Bay Area. I have eaten at Changs a few times and decided to retry the Twin Dragon again. We decided to pass on the fixed lunch and ordered off the regular menu. We enjoyed the Hunan chow mein and the spicy port dish was equally as good. Service was friendly and efficient. Our water glasses were refilled before they reached half empty and on a 100 degree plus day in Auburn that was a nice touch. I did glance at the reviews of the place while waiting for our food. One of the reviews I did find troubling. The reviewer mentioned the cleanliness of the restaurant. I certainly did not see anything that was "dirty". After eating I decided to visit the men's room to conduct a cleanliness inspection. The restroom wasn't spotless, but again it was reasonably clean. If the reviewer wants to see a "dirty" place they should have visited Y Ben House in San Francisco when it was open. I will be returning to Twin Dragon and looking forward to trying other items on the menu. If you are rolling down Highway 80 and feeling hungry it is worth the brief detour.

  • Shelly B.

Yum! We took three of our kids to eat here while we were in Auburn. We ordered about six dishes, and everything was delicious! The portions are quite big. The owner seemed to be a little full of herself.

  • Kayley R.

We are new to auburn and are desperately trying to find good places to eat! This was the worst Chinese my husband & I have ever had.. Waste of $40 we could only finish our fortune cookies packed the boxes up to give to the homeless! Our szechuan beef looked more like chicken and had a hair in it.. The fried rice and egg flower soup tasted plain no flavor at all.. Chowmein was horrid as well :( We will continue our hunt for good Chinese!

    (1)
  • Phoenix D.

WOW! we have tried several Chinese restaurants in Auburn and they were all sort of "meh" then we found Twin Dragon! It's such a relief to find a good standby restaurant! We always get our orders to go, so i can't attest to the service inside the restaurant, but the food is phenomenal! Their house fried rice is LOADED with meat and shrimp and veggies. The lemon chicken was tender and juicy. They even do a custom order of beef & bok choi for us when we order!

Marginal food and horrible service. Save your money.

  • Adam B.

Great food, but don't show up after 8. Last time we drove a 1/2 hour to get there on a Friday, and at 8:15, with people still eating, they were putting the chairs up. I took a date there one weekend and they were vacuuming while we were eating at 8:15. Doesn't make you feel like they want your business. Go to Chang Brothers! Food is great and they love having us there. They've been there for 10 years.

  • Trisha K.

I have periodically tried Twin Dragon over the last 15 years. And every time I am disappointed. I usually only eat here because out of town friends think it's going to be good. The breading on every dish I've had here is always mushy and falls off, the meat is gristly and the service although attentive, is rather brisk and kind of rude. As if you are imposing on them by eating in their restaurant. If you really need Chinese food, go find Happy Wok right up the street, much better quality food and much cleaner dining area.

    (1)
  • Christine C.

I've eaten at Twin Dragon twice...the first time was outstanding, four or five star worthy...but my last meal there was such a let down, I probably will never return. My party & I had to wait for ninety minutes to be served. Our food arrived sporadically: one person got his food while the rest of us were left hanging for another 15-30 minutes. The food, once it had arrived, lacked that zing we have come to associate with Chinese food; in fact, the duck which was obviously pre-cooked, and cold, was something we could have made ourselves. Since my first meal had been so good, I was truly amazed how bad my second --and last-- meal was

Gave Twin Dragon a try based on Yelper's reviews. I feel I'm qualified to judge Chinese food for the following reasons, first I'm Chinese and grew up eating it everyday, and second I'm from San Francisco and have eaten at countless Chinese restaurants in the bay area. I am rating the food based on authenticity and location of the restaurant. The dining room is typical, a bit dated, carpeted and clean. We ordered from the lunch menu, me beef w tofu and hubby Mongolian beef. Started w an order of pot stickers. They were not fried enough and luke warm. The filling was plentiful but lacked flavor. We each tried the two soups, egg drop and hot n sour. Neither was outstanding. The beef w tofu had too much brown sauce, but the meat was tender. The Mongolian beef was not hot spicy. Both lunch plates were plentiful and service was decent. We've eaten at two other Chinese places in the area and would go back to Twin Dragon. Have to try the other dishes for preparation and flavor and maybe another star for the review.

We've been customers of this restaurant for years. Our favorite dishes are general beef and moo shoo pork.

  • Dawn B.

I cannot understand how so many people think that this is the best Chinese food in Northern California. The fried food was saturated and not crispy, the spare ribs and the chicken wings from the sampler platter were both overcooked. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork and it was mediocre, at best. My beef with broccoli felt like it came from a jar. The service was attentive and they do not use MSG. This was my first and only visit but I do have a gift certificate so will be giving them another shot.

  • Robert A.

Upon moving to Auburn we were pleasantly surprised to find such a good Chinese restaurant. The service is very prompt whether dining in or getting take out. The food is consistently great, with no MSG. My favorite dishes are the walnut prawns and the mushu pork. The pricing (dinner), while not unreasonable, necessitates that I eat here less often given budget constraints.

    (5)
  • Woody W.

The food is outstanding as is the service. We most always dine in though have had good luck with the take out when we have done that. The ambiance very nice typical Chinese restaurant decor with a nice atmosphere for a couple or party of 10. We usually split a Moushu pork and chicken fried rice and get out for about $18. The sweet and sour chicken is great and we also like the lemon chicken. Great food at a good value with good service has made us regulars

If you enjoy Chinese food as much as I do take my word for it, the food at this place is on par or better than most of the restaurants I used to eat at in NYC's chinatown. Simply unbeatable food and very affordable. Many vegetarian options as well which makes me happy! My husband and I ate here today and it was sooo yummy!!!! A+++

Authentic Chinese, very good food and service. Egg drop soup was delicious with lots of veggies definitely would go again

  • Julie R.

I've been disappointed with the service for some time now but after having company last week and ordering dinners that were really "not" good, I will no longer go there for awhile. My friend ordered egg foo yung and ended up taking it back and getting a refund. i ordered chicken with vegetables and it tasted like someone put sugar all over it so I never finished my meal and threw the leftovers away. I've also notice the parking lot not as full as it usually is so I feel there is something going on with the business. I will take my business to the Happy wok the next time where I haven't been disappointed so far.

I don't know what happened to this place. I used to eat here all the time, and it used to be really good, now it is bland and greasy. Last weekend we ordered several things to go for a group of people on a game/movie night: chow mein, lemon chicken, broccoli beef, egg rolls, potstickers, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. Everything except for the potstickers was terrible. The chow mein was very oily and otherwise flavorless. The lemon chicken had no flavor whatsoever and you could pour the oil off of it. Same for the broccoli beef. Same for all the main courses, actually. Their sauces had zero flavor. The egg rolls, to my bafflement, were inedible. I've never had a bad egg roll before. The only thing that we could eat was the potstickers and the soup, which wasn't great but at least it was edible. We ended up throwing everything else out and ordering pizzas. A complete waste of time and money. It's sad what this restaurant has turned into. I used to love it, now you couldn't pay me to risk my life eating their awful food. Almost gave it 1 star, came so close to doing so.

I live in Bay Area and I don't live in Auburn but every time I go snowbording in Lake Tahoe, I always come here for dinner. I love the Crunchy eggplant with the tasty sauce. I thought it was just regular eggplant but it's surprising eggplant that I ever have.

We started eating here several years ago after a different Auburn Chinese place made us all very sick *cough Zeschuan cough*... We were very pleased with our first couple of takeout boxes so we decided to do dine in with a group of 6 or 7. We all ate family style and the food was great, service was fast even considering we ordered a lot... We've been going back ever since...mostly for takeout but occasionally dine in..

So...we were driving back to the Bay Area from Wyoming and in need of supper. But it's 9:00 p.m. and we were still in the Sierras! What's a gal to do? Check the Yelp app on her iPhone, of course. I called Twin Dragon. They were closed, but offered to make us food for take-out even though we wouldn't be there till a half hour after closing! How's that for service? We had to give them all of our credit information save Social Security Number and Mother's Maiden Name just to pay for it over the phone (which sketched us out at first, but was fine in the end), but it was worth it. Food was fresh, hot, and just the right level of sweet-salty-spicy. Super-yummy fortune cookies. And brown rice! Definitely five stars for service! And I would say a solid four stars for food. We would go back and try other dishes the next time we're driving through Auburn and have a hankering for Chinese.

Mediocre Chinese food at it's best. For anyone that rates this place five stars must love the appetizer sampler! A fine selection of previously frozen yuk deep fried (and sometimes still frozen in the center). I didn't like this place as a child and I don't care for it now.

So I'm sitting here with the family for my dads birthday and the food is great. I actually ordered Saki and I don't drink too often and Saki almost never. But I do like it and on this occasion it was great and everyone was enjoying it. Well... Then my little girl who was about 8 at the time asks... "Dad can I try some Saki?" It was her birthday party also. So the waiter looks at me giving me that questionably amazed look and the place was packed full of people, and all of them were looking at us & waiting to hear my response. So I said "Sure Honey" & poured a very small amount into the Saki cup & handed it to her with the head waiter looking at me. He realised what I was doing at went and stood behind her... We all knew what was going to happen and I told her to swish it around a little and so she did... Then the look of horror came over the crowd as she started to take that drink. They couldn't believe what I had just done. Then as loud as she could she screamed "EEEYUUK" at the top of her lungs while shaking her head and spitting it out into her napkin while making all kinds of those beautiful kid faces... Lol. Then everyone in the whole place started laughing. She didn't realise that we had everyone in the house looking at us. A couple of the guys that had their own families came over while laughing and shook my hand. Saying "That was great, you made our day". So the food is great & so are the people. I can't say enough about this place. It's GREAT.

30 year veterans of the area. We eat at all the local Chinese resturaunts; Shang, panda, wongs and changs. Twin dragon continues to disappoint. Noodles were tough, vegetables undercooked, gristle in the Chicken, breading fell off and stuck together and bad cookies to boot. It was 11am on Sat. Maybe the cook had the weekend off. Never have written a review before. Don,t like to bash a local business but the last15 years have been down hill for TW. Oh yea found a hair on the inside top of the chow mein container.

First, let me preface this by stating I have been raised on Chinese food...being Chinese (all my life). I'm very picky about Chinese food and it has to be as good as my parents' cooking...and they, being from families with Chinese restaurant heritage, are VERY good. For that reason, I seldom venture into Chinese restaurants because I am usually disappointed or worse. In Auburn, there doesn't seem to be an abundance of non-chain restaurants. We took a chance on this one...but did take-out.. My expectations of Chinese take-outs are even lower than eating-in. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was very good. On a busy Saturday night, they got our very large order for 5 people ready in about 20 minutes. For 5 adults, we were well-fed for about $60. The servings were amazingly large. The pan-fried noodles were very crisp. The seafood dish was generous with seafood. Vegetables were not over-cooked. Everything was tasty with no MSG after-taste. I usually break out after a heavy MSG meal and I didn't after this one. I also gauge the caliber of a Chinese restaurant by the number of patrons who are Chinese (or at least, appear they could be). This one looked promising by the people who were going in. Auburn isn't exactly Chinatown. So, I have to say that this experience countered my skepticism of Chinese restaurants and I would recommend and would even go back to this place next time I'm in town.

Whoa... I have found a place worst than Panda Express. This may have been the good Lord's way of sending down his wrath on me because I completely forgot it was Good Friday when I woke up this morning in Reno and had ham steak and eggs for breakfast (For non-Catholics, we are not supposed to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. What's Lent you ask, google it.). Coming home from Reno and the snow, we decided to stop in Auburn to eat dinner and my sister-in-law wanted Chinese food. Found Twin Dragon on Yelp with 35 reviews and 4 stars, so we headed on over (should have kept driving). Service at the Twin Dragon was as quick as Bruce Lee's fists. The food on the other hand... I wish Bruce Lee was still alive to knock some sense into me and my indigestion after our meal. I'll be brief: The Lemon Chicken tasted like it was flavored with lemon dish soap, the Won Ton Soup was served cold and the won ton's half-cooked, the Pork Fried Rice was saturated in grease, the Beef Broccoli was drowning in sauce which made the broccoli as limp as my libido after the snow, and the only thing good about the House Chow Mien was the fresh bean sprouts that were sprinkled on top. The best part of our dining experience at the Twin Dragon was the fortune cookie, which should have read, "Your future looks grim, this place is like the ending of A Christmas Story." Oh, and your lucky numbers are: 8, 16, 19, 20, 24, 48.

I came here with my mom and grandmother, grandma's choice as she lives up here in the boonies. She likes this location because they offer brown rice and had a few vegitarian options for her to choose from on the lunch menu. My personal opinon of the place? Super Americanized! But doesn't mean it wasn't good, I got the Shrimp and Broccoli with fried rice, I felt the sauce they used was kinda heavy for the dish but it was still tasty, I just had to blot some of the sauce off. Fried rice was average, so was the hot and sour soup. Overall, wasn't super good, but it wasn't awful either and shoot if I have a chance to hang out with my 86 year old grandmother again, I wouldn't mind coming here again.

Hands down, the best Chinese food in Auburn. I was raised eating Twin Dragon more or less every weekend, and they have been consistently delicious for the last two decades. MSG free, personable, fresh, and worth every penny.

This was a real nice place with friendly people. We stopped here on our way back from ski country, and found what we were looking for.

We found this place right here on Yelp, and the reviews did not lead us astray. The food at this place is simply fantastic. We did have to ask a second time for them to bring one of our dishes, but after doing so -- it literally came from the kitchen within seconds. The Beef & Broccoli: beef was VERY tender and delicious, and the sauce was light and flavorful. General's Chicken: sauce wasn't crazy hot (good for me), and the chicken was tender. We had some sort of soup... hot and sour I think.. it was good too.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
