Been going for years. Darling little place, great staff, good food, good prices. Great place to eat. Will continue to go for years. Not a 5 star amazing experience, but a consistent high quality dinner/cafe with great ambiance.

Hands down best breakfast in A-town. They actually bake their own bread and make their chicken fried stead from scratch. The atmosphere is like a notch about a Salvation Army Thrift store (nothing against the Salvation Army!). But the food is SOOOO good, I'd eat in that thrift store any day! Service is good and no snotty peeps like that Hush Harbor location. -G

The homemade wheat bread, raisin bread, chicken fried steak and biscuits/gravy are amazing! The service here is fantastic. The server brought our drinks out fast and left carafe's on our table so we could refill our drinks whenever needed. Hands down this is the best place in Atascadero to eat breakfast.

Wonderful food & GREAT service! Very attentive staff, always checking if we had everything we needed. Left a carafe of Ice tea at the table, truly bottomless! The homemade chili & cornbread is AMAZING!! I can't wait to go back for breakfast! Everyone's plates passing by looked delicious. Generous portions, reasonable prices. My new favorite!

    Always a great breakfast :)

One of my favorite breakfast places in Atascadero. The food is always fresh and meals are quite large. As a vegetarian I often make substitutions and they have good choices for me. The staff is always nice and very friendly.

    1. Best breakfast in Atascadero... I didn't say healthiest I said best! 2. BEST homemade wheat toast I have ever had 3. Cute, small town atmosphere 4. Private parking lot which I love because I live in Los Angeles

  • Kris F.

By far the best breakfast in north county. Everything is super fresh and homemade. Don't miss the thick buttery slices of their signature homemade wheat bread. Even the Spanish sauce on the Spanish omelet is made right there. Breakfast burritos are huge and amazing with a perfect balance of eggs to meat to potatoes, and don't forget the fresh salsa. If great food isn't enough you can't find better or friendlier service anywhere. Just love this place.

I used to like going to Country Touch, but the last 5 or more times that I have gone, the poached and fried eggs have been severely under done where the whites are uncooked. If I ever go to Country Touch again, it will only be for lunch.

  • Ron D.

This is based only on the service. I have never eaten here before, in fact this is my first time here. When you go to a restaurant and the only answer the hostess can give you to every question is I don't know, you know it's not going to be a good time. We ended up eating at a different place across the street.

Love this place! Always get the veggie omelet when I eat here-when I am visiting our family in Atascadero. Wish we had a good place to eat like Country Touch in our town ;-(

  • Lacey G.

Best breakfast in town! I've been coming here all my life! Food has not changed! Always good. I get the biscuits and gravy and have never had anything else because its so good. I moved away and have to come in every time I'm in town. Love it.

Here's one Yelpers sent me astray on. Having just come from the Templeton Farmers Market, with its gorgeous array of colored beets, carrots, lettuces, heirloom tomatoes, fresh corn, we were majorly set back at the food we were served. I try to be a Locavore. It's a old school diner menu with breakfast, sandwiches and lunch plates with a soup special. The lunch salad, which was ordered as "dressing on the side", came swimming in vast amounts of Ranch, accompanied with diced iceberg, stale croutons and two slices of canned beets. Inedible. The lunch special of grilled chicken and mushrooms was served with canned green beans and corn, tasting like tin cans. The mushrooms were large, odd and sloppily chunked but worst were old and strong flavored. The chicken was fine, as were the mashed potatoes. Hubby's turkey grilled sandwich with avocado fared no better. A poor quality pressed and formed mound of turkey slices, greasy grilled bread and two little slabs of avocado with a monstrous amount of gloppy cheese. Ugh. Inedible again. The home made raisin wheat bread was the icing on the cake of irritation. Two super thick slices of unwarmed nor untoasted bread, dry and burned on the bottom at baking time. I had to ask about the side butter looking stuff it was served with because of the oddness of taste and spreading. Soft margarine I was told! Wow! That's really old school diner fare. Two stars for the good, cheery service and clean atmosphere. With all our area has to offer in fresh produce, I simply cannot understand why a restaurant would not participate in our readily available bounty, get canned off the menu or at least add some fresh healthy components to the diner choices.

Walked in and asked for a table for one. Host asked if I wanted the counter. I said no and asked for a booth. Host brought me to a small table when there were booths all around. I asked to sit in one of them and the host sat me at a booth that was dirty with syrup. Got up and waked out. Went to cowgirl cafe across the street and had one of the best meals I ever had.

This place is so yummy. Ask for their homemade wheat toast. Unbelievably great. Great service too. I subbed fruit instead of potatoes and the fruit was so fresh and sweet. Servers were incredibly nice too. Will definitely come back if we are in the area.

  • Brian U.

Awesome breakfast! Spinach and bacon omelette was amazing with crispy cooked veggies, a huge portion of fresh cut fruit on side and a thick slab of home-made wheat bread!

OOOO yeah I finally found a breakfast place that I like. I cannot remember the name of the omelet I had my man was it good!! I wish they were closer!

    (5)
  • Elizabeth W.

We have been coming here since 2006! We always get fast service and hot food! All the staff is sweet, even the dish washer when he pops his head in to grab the trays of dishes.

    (5)
  • Ryan D.

This place has one of the best breakfasts in the county and probably the best in north county. The eggs Benedict is always made perfectly, and is the only item I have ordered there, so I cannot comment on their other selections. The staff is very good.

  • Amber T.

Great food, friendly staff who are very child-friendly. Love this place!

    (4)
  • Edward R.

A decent place to stop while on the road. Nice and clean with friendly, attentive wait staff and the food is good. The bacon served was a bit more crispy than I like, but other than that there really wasn't a particular positive or negative about the food that jumps out. You may not remember what you had a day later, but you also won't need to call in sick the following day either. I have to admit that the name appeals to my childish sense of humor.

  • Doug D.

I ate breakfast here yesterday. The service was prompt and friendly the food was good. My wife had a breakfast burrito and it was wonderful except for the fact that they used American cheese single in it, really who uses that crap. Other than that the food and service were great.

    (4)
  • Matthew E.

Country Touch Cafe is one of the best breakfast houses on the Central Coast. If you have not visited them you need to come down and have some of their home cooking. I have eaten here numerous times for breakfast and its always great. Love their omelets, pancakes, and classic homemade raisin bread. Definitely hits a 5 star for that taste of breakfast.

    (5)
  • Donna J.

I always enjoy breakfast there. Good food and friendly service.

    (4)

  • Mary Ann W.

Great breakfast of scrambled eggs with fresh spinach and mushrooms. Delish bacon perfectly cooked. Hubby had biscuits and gravy with perfectly poached eggs. Above all attentive and efficient service.

Pretty solid traditional American breakfast. Better than most others in town.

Great breakfast, friendly service, good sized proportions!

  • Nancy W.

I have eaten here several times for breakfast & have never liked what I received. The atmosphere is old & dated, cluttered country type. The food is just not good. I really have no idea why this place is still open, except that many locals are just used to it. If it is home cooking, that is probably true! The home cooking that you really don't enjoy. Eggs that are never cooked right, pork chops that are pink inside & underdone, etc. Do yourself a favor & eat at Cowgirl Cafe. They have consistently good breakfasts & a real value for the money.

  • Sarah L.

I was so excited to come here, everybody I've talked to said it was great; alas my experience was pretty bad. Waitress neglected us, and the food was okay at best. The gravy was tasteless, I'm almost positive it was powdered and came from a package. Eggs were cooked poorly, and the biscuits were dry. Waitress never refilled our clearly empty water glasses, although she did attend to the rest of our needs. The table was too small and we were cramped. We were not told there were more comfortable (and larger) tables outside; we would have much preferred a larger table in the nice weather. Although this place is much better than Cowgirl, I'll stick with the Beef Palace in Templeton. Awesome food, fantastic waitress, cheaper than anything in Atascadero.

  • Elaine M.

We stopped here on our way home from Pismo Beach to San Francisco, and both of us loved it. Great, thoughtful service and good, plentiful food. Homemade bread and biscuits. Good iced tea that doesn't taste like peach hand cream! Moderate prices. Friendly all the way from start to finish. If you don't mind the decor being a little unusual, and are just looking for a good meal and good service, I highly recommend it.

    (5)
  • Niki R.

Decent burger, good service, delicious raspberry lemonade!

    (4)

Terrible food and service. I have a ranch nearby and was appalled by the breakfast served to my family.

    (1)
  • megan d.

Delicious crapes and "home-made" raisin toast. The home style breakfast potatoes seem like boiled potatoes that are just sliced and rubbed in a little oil. The waffle toppings are put on cold, so after 4 bites your entire waffle is cold.

    (4)
  • Barbara S.

    Good standard breakfast. Friendly service.

    (4)
  • Carrie F.

Good for breakfast. Hubby loves this little place. Service is always good.

    (4)
  • Wendy P.

This was the best restaurant in Atascadero. Home-made yumminess beyond words, but they are closed now:-(

    (5)
  • Evan B.

Good breakfasts. Often a line so if your not in a hurry, you can wait on their front patio and read the paper while you wait for a table. But you know the wait means the food is good. And it is.

  • Danielle G.

Do not be fooled by their seemingly run of the mill breakfast menu! This place is so great!!! To start, anyone that can get my egg order correct (which is never) is A+ in my book! "Over medium, but a little more than that but not over hard"= perfect eggs!! Country gravy is delicious! Biscuits are ginormous! My son said "these are the best scrambled eggs eve, mom!". And the homemade applesauce!! Omg!! It's amazing! Seriously, get it, you have to! Country fries had fresh peppers not too cook so they had a fresh crisp to them. And that country friend steak.... We came in from out of town, definitely going back on Saturday when we roll back into town. Service is exceptional. Never without refills, napkins, utensils, food, anything. Very attentive and friendly. Nicely done on all levels!

This is my 4th time here at Country Touch. Atascadero is a small town, limited on the number of great eats for breakfast. I recommend this place to a lot of people who ask where to get a hearty breakfast. Here are the Pros: They have really good homemade toast The lingucia and eggs are always good most of the food is pretty good and worth the price. I haven't eaten everything on the menu but everything I have eaten I have no complaints. Decent coffee. Cons: The service is not great. Not even good. I'd say less than fair. Don't get offended if they bring you your bill when they bring you your food they do that to most everyone I've seen. Personally I think it's tacky but whatever... They don't take your plates when you're done and if you want anything you have to ask for it, they don't ask you so don't wait for them to ask you if you want steak sauce with your steak they won't ask. The place is small and can feel cramped if you don't get a booth. When it gets crowded the old ladies (that is most of the waitresses) get stressed out and the service drops to below horrible. When they were real busy once I sat at the counter and watched the waitress talk so bad to a really old man who got the wrong order he was kinda hard of hearing and she just spoke to him so bad like she was scolding a child. Anyway if you like pretty good food and don't mind the crappy service give it try. Just don't leave a big tip. That's what I do. I'm going back and I will continue to because the foods good, it's a small town there isn't much of a choice. I can handle the bad service.

TL;DR : We waited way to long for our food. When it finally came, it was quite good, but the same waitress turned a 4-top twice between when we ordered and when we finished eating. We didn't order anything outlandish, just the usual breakfast fare. It was really good - the croissant was buttery, the ham decadent, the eggs flavorful but not sulfurous - but it still took half an hour for two breakfast plates right off the menu. The staff were really pleasant, and they really seemed to know the locals, which I think is what the problem was. They were working hard on the orders for folks they knew, and we out of town-ers got the short straw. Overall, I might come back for the food, just not on a busy holiday morning.

BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN! Matched by some of the best servers in town! Such an amazing staff here! Gotta have the Eggs Benedict here!

Pretty great little diner. Shannon was awesome, and the food was good. Nice little spot to grab a hearty breakfast before a day really gets going.

  • Khadija C.

I recently came here to enjoy breakfast and I must say it was a treat. The food was so amazing! I had the chilli cheese omelette with the raisin bread. The next time I am in the area I will make sure to stop here.

  • Mondy L.

This is a family friendly cafe with old style food and service. My eggs where perfect and the potatoes were very tasty. Went back for an omelet which was equally good. I will return when next in town.

  • Lynn M.

Our "go to" place for breakfast , best one in town. Best service by far. Good lunches and dinners also. Just good diner style food.

    (5)
  • Tia G.

Everything was top notch. Very tasty, well prepared, fresh food. Service was great, and the little patio outside is nice and relaxing.

We were back in the Paso area and staying at a place in Atascadero so we came here again for breakfast. Nothing really changed, it was good breakfast and quick and friendly service. I had the Southern Breakfast that was under $10 and the biscuits were nice and fluffy.

    (4)
  • Cimmone F.

Okay, I reeeeeaaally liked my meal here. I got a breakfast burrito and it was one of the best I've had in awhile. I think it's because they add potatoes in it, and the eggs are in omelette form vs. scrambled. Anyway, the food was great, absolutley happy with it! Service was okay. I'm giving 4 stars only because I think they could improve on cleanliness a little. Overall great place to catch breakfast or lunch, I recommend.

    (4)
  • Lisa G.

This is a cute cafe that has amazing homemade breads. The ambiance here is cozy and they have a nice patio out back. This is the place to go to if you want the waitresses to remember your name and your order.

    (4)
  • Julie G.

Thank you Yelp for the good review about this restaurant.I could'nt agree more. The food were great, service was excellent. Our server Julie(she's also the manager) was so nice and offered us to try their homemade raisin bread and it was very good.we will come back here once we pass by Atascadero again.

    (5)
  • Kevin L.

One thing keeps us coming back: their homemade bread. The y have a choice of wheat and cinnamon raisin and both are amazing! Of course, the service and other delicious food are great additions that also keep us coming back. Everyone is so friendly, it reminds me of those breakfast diners from home. Great, filling food. Friendly service. What more could you ask for?

  • A G.

My cousin who is a local recommended this place and I'm so glad he did. We came for breakfast and it was awesome from the kids breakfasts to our omelets. I would recommend to anyone!

    (5)
  • Abbiegail B.

Great food! I'd say the second BEST country fried steak and eggs I've tried (Sang's in Salinas is my first choice). The salsa was very fresh and went perfectly with the entree. The raisin bread is to die for and is so fluffy and warm with melted butter on top! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I would've given this place 5 stars BUT the service was okay... We waited 10 minutes for the check/card to be picked up and ended up taking it to the cashier ourselves. Other than that, awesome breakfast food with plentiful portions at a good price! What more can you ask for?

    (4)
  • Sh N.

Good food, good prices and great service. We were seated quickly, immediately asked for our drink order and hot coffee and water arrived promptly. Ordered the egg special #1 with bacon, crispy hash-browns and a not to be missed homemade biscuit. The hash-browns were a little on the greasy side but the biscuits ( did I say you get two) were delicious flaky bites of heaven. Skip the crowds in Paso and stop here for an inviting home style diner meal with friendly staff on your next trip up to wine country.

  • Kelly P.

Our family of 4 had brunch on a Saturday right before Christmas and we all left full and happy, taking some leftovers with us. The homemade bread is awesome. We need to go back, we just don't get out for breakfast very often. A single order of scrambled eggs for my "not very hungry" girl was huge and she ended up eating it all. Coffee refills were quick too. They do need to make people aware that they shouldn't smoke near the door though.

    (5)
  • Michael g.

Food was bland, potatoes seemed boiled eggs over cooked. This had the best review in the area and thats pretty alarming.

    (2)
  • Chelsea ..

I LOVE their breakfast. It's always good, they have big portions, and the price is decent. I order to pick up every time so I can't say much other than I love their food.

    (5)
  • Wayne W.

Recommended. Had the country omelette that includes sautéed sliced onions, smoked wood bacon, tomato, and avocado. I asked asked salsa but did not use it. The flavors were so good by themselves that I didn't want to spoil it. Service was friendly and prompt. On another day I had the chicken fried steak. It was tasty but the coating did not stick. Done on the premises but, maybe dredge in flour first then the other coatings.

The hamburger I ordered here was clearly taken from a frozen warehouse club mega-pack. It was shaped like a flattened pancake and the meat was poor quality with too much fat and completely tasteless to boot. The fries were okay and served in a generous portion, but it can't make up for the shoddy burger. When you eat at a mom-and-pop type restaurant you except a quality hamburger to be made with care as part of an all-American staple. Perhaps their other meals are more lovingly looked after. Our server was nice enough, but didn't check back on our table that frequently when we needed coffee/water refills. Apparently lots of of people love this place, perhaps it is worth a second shot to see if our experience is better the next time around.

  • J D.

We stopped for lunch at the Country Cafe on our way to a wedding in Half Moon Bay. After 2hours of driving, we took a chance on this cafe as it looked busy. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. Being so tired of the chain restaurants on our trip, we walked out feeling completely satisfied with this quaint cafe. Not only was everything we ordered delicious, the service was top notch as well. Great experience!

    (5)
  • Mishelle E.

They really deserve 6 stars...French toast supreme was delicious with homemade applesauce (yummy) My husband and I had breakfast and ordered 3 breakfasts so we could split the French toast and the service was great. This place was decorated to perfection; just loved it and I'm going back!

    (5)
  • Raymond W.

Good food, good prices. Wait staff super attentive and friendly...worth the 15 minute wait. Ate breakfast there twice in 2 days. Great place for kids! Crayons and things to color.

    (5)
  • Diana A.

Basic diner food, but they do have homemade bread. The stuffed French toast was just French toast with a slab of cream cheese added after it was cooked, not very appetizing tasted ok but I wouldn't recommend it. The cornbeef hash was like mashed potatos with corn beef just not great. The wait staff was nice but our waitress was a bit loud.

    (3)
  • Kim C.

Really great food and friendly service. This place is easy to miss but worth finding. They have the best homemade raisin toast ever! My 'go to' is their omelets. They get busy but the staff is friendly and aim to please. I highly recommend giving this one a try if you are looking for good, homemade, big food.

    (5)
  • Happy M.

Breakfast was good and reasonable. I ordered the stuffed French toast with black berries. My only complaint was that I wish the cream cheese could have been more softened up. Service was good and my coffee cup was always filled. Felt homey. I would come back again for breakfast. I saw a plate of Eggs Benedict go by, going to order that next time!

    (4)
  • Hailey M.

Oh boy where do I start. I loved this place every sense I was little! They have the best Omelets I got the Francisco with fruit, and I got wheat toast which is homemade and it is the best toast I've ever had. All though you can taste it's not fancy food, it's still good! And also good price for the amount. It's very cute inside they also have a back that has seating which is fantastic. The coffee is very good also which is surprising for a place like this. When I'm in need for breakfast and don't want to cook or drive to paso this is my go to spot. I'll be back.

    (4)
  • Gail S.

Excellent breakfast and the friendliest staff! We both had the country omelet as a scramble--with linguisa sausage, fresh mushrooms and cheese. So delicious! And the homemade toast was so good--I asked which was best, the wheat or the cinnamon raisin. Our waitress suggested getting half and half so I could try both. They were so good I abandoned my low carb eating and ate both! Will definitely return when visiting the central coast.

    (5)

The service here was excellent. Our server was very kind, professional, and helpful. The food came out quickly and everything tasted great.

Really good food, fair prices and excellent service at country touch café. We eat here regularly and are never disappointed...especially love the homemade whole-wheat raisin toast.

  • Crystal K.

We always make a pit stop here in Atascadero on our way up North and we hv found the perfect breakfast stop to fuel up for our day long haul. Wonderful hospitality from the servers, decent wait time for food and the food itself ... Delicious! My husband and I both have the corned beef hash with homemade bread and poached eggs. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the bread is phenomenal (and a must try) and the hash. ... amazing without all the grease and fat ay the bottom of the plate! Overall, I would recommend this place as a place to grab a great bite of food. It's worth the wait!

    (5)
  • Tim B.

I eat here atleast once every 2 weeks, good home cooked meal. I get the chicken fried streak and eggs.

  • Joe G.

Well, don't those 3 stars fool you into thinking that I'll be coming back here! I won't, probably. Pretty sure. It was as crowded as a confessional the day after spring break that Sunday around 10:45am, but people moved through pretty quickly, so that was a nice surprise. After getting coffee (pretty daring for a coffee snob) and meeting a couple of friends, I can now say that I have gone there, and I'm richer for the experience. The staff seemed solicitous enough, although I got butt-checked everytime one walked around my side of the table, due to the layout of the place. And maybe because of .... The food.... Well, my friends seemed pretty happy to choke down on their breakfasts, while I had to wait a little longer, since they got my order almost a perfect 100% wrong (the sausage was right, but still not a passing grade). Potatoes: Ordered the country style; they served warm chunks, but did not have any crispness to them or much flavor. Were they cooked and steamed? Dunno. Maybe it was the last potato and they had to rush-steam it. But having expected a crunchy tater, ermerghrerd! Eggs: pretty good; i'd asked for scrambled 'medium' so they wouldn't come like yellow foamed chunks. Y'all done good, little diner. Sausage: pretty run of the mill Jimmy Dean Generic, I'm guessing, and a bit overcooked. Maybe they were pre-cooked and steamed and steamed (again) to keep warm. Toast. The raisin toast came highly recommended the waitress. Pass. It was under-toasted, bland, very thick, as if the width of the slice could ever fit into a toaster. Again, a let down. Not much flavor, either, which was a surprise. It's like biting into the display that's supposed to show you what the food looks like. Yeah, that. Cost- I threw in $15 with my share of the tip. Value? I threw $12 away.

Besides the smoking area being right in front of the entrance I thought this place was amazing. Service was great, food was perfect and prices were great. It has the mom and pop type feel to it. Very much like a home cooked breakfast. I had the Country omelette with toast and hash browns. Filled me right up. If you want to try something new and looking for a great breakfast place... GO HERE!

  • Victor C.

Pro-tip: Don't try to walk here from the Carlton Hotel. It's a little far and the walk isn't helped by the sun beaming down on you in the middle of the day. The place seemed quaint and a little old school but the food seemed alright. I can't really offer any comments on the food since all I had was a fruit plate but I will say the fruit plate was kind of lacking for being $6. A few slices of banana, cantaloupe, melon and a couple pieces of pineapple. For that price, I was expecting a bigger plate of fruit.

The best breakfast and service in town! You won't find a better place to go in Atascadero. The servers genuinely care for you and the food is consistently tasty and well portioned.

The staff is very welcoming and I never had to ask for a refill for my coffee. They were very attentive and I felt like I was at my moms house . Food is to die for especially their homemade raisin bread. Too bad I live in LA or else I would come every weekend.

Fast, friendly, and good food. I had the country breakfast and it was very filling. I am glad we stopped here eat vs a fast food place. The prices are reasonable and plenty of parking in the back.

Darling little restaurant! Delicious breakfasts and lunch and they are always busy. The service is very welcoming and hospitable! Love, love, love the boysenberry pancakes and the French toast! Also a go to spot for weekend breakfast/brunch.

The only place in town for great breakfast. The food quality is consistent and staff are friendly. Go early to avoid the wait.
